:00:47. > :00:52.Alexander Stadium for the Sainsbury's British Championships.

:00:52. > :00:57.There is o much jeopardy here this weekend. Titles to be won, places in

:00:57. > :01:02.the British squad for the World Athletics Championships in Moscow in

:01:02. > :01:12.four weeks' time is up for grabs it is tense it is tight, and boy, is it

:01:12. > :01:12.

:01:12. > :02:13.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 61 seconds

:02:13. > :02:18.MUSIC: measuring. I am sure it is even

:02:18. > :02:23.hotter. The ice-creams and the lollipops are out. People looking

:02:23. > :02:26.for a way to keep cool at the Stadium stul Stadium, but they are

:02:26. > :02:29.also looking for sizzling performances on the trackment

:02:29. > :02:33.alongside me is Paula Radcliffe. Paula, I guess the temperatures if

:02:34. > :02:39.you are running less than two laps it is OK. Anymore it is very hot?

:02:39. > :02:43.Yes, for the endurance events it is hot it is not really bad. There is a

:02:43. > :02:50.bit of cloud covering for people watching and for the jumps, the

:02:50. > :02:54.sprints. It is close tore what they will

:02:54. > :02:59.experience in Moscow too. That is what, partly, this weekend

:02:59. > :03:04.is about. For many it is not about the titles, it is about getting the

:03:04. > :03:10.A standard, cementing your place first. Winner takes all. If you

:03:10. > :03:15.don't get the A standard, there is an anom lee in the criteria? It is

:03:15. > :03:19.confusing? It is a little confusing. The best way for the athlete is to

:03:19. > :03:27.go out there and win their event. That is the only way to guarantee

:03:27. > :03:31.their place if you finish behind Dai, then you may have to rethink

:03:31. > :03:35.about things, but it really is about winning the A standard. Trying to

:03:35. > :03:41.win it, if not getting in the top three.

:03:41. > :03:46.Last night a time was won with not an A standing. In events like this,

:03:46. > :03:50.when there is a great talent not here, it will cause a problem for

:03:50. > :03:54.the selectors on Monday? There are events like that, Adam won a

:03:54. > :03:59.championship. He does not have the A standard, but there are three people

:03:59. > :04:03.here who have. He will not be able to win it and get the A standard

:04:03. > :04:09.before the selectors meet on Monday. That will be a headache. In the

:04:09. > :04:13.men's long jump there is a headache with Greg Rutherford and Chris

:04:13. > :04:19.Tomlinson with B standards. And no Greg this weeked. So big

:04:19. > :04:29.names missing. Jessica Ennis has pulled out through injury but still

:04:29. > :04:29.

:04:29. > :05:39.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 61 seconds

:05:39. > :05:42.And this is how your afternoon is As we have alluded to there with

:05:42. > :05:47.Paula, it is not a smooth road to Paula, it is not a smooth road to

:05:47. > :05:52.Moscow. We thought we would let Jonathan Edwards to explain the

:05:52. > :05:57.criteria for you. British athletics are after medals

:05:57. > :06:04.in Moscow. So tough qualifying standards have been set to ensure

:06:04. > :06:14.that only world-class athletes make the play for the Russian capital.

:06:14. > :06:15.

:06:15. > :06:19.Dai Greene and mo Farah have been selected. As has grub grub grub. For

:06:19. > :06:25.everyone else, it is tough to achieve the A standard

:06:25. > :06:32.qualification. The deadline to do it is on Sunday. Simply, win the

:06:32. > :06:37.weekend, the G B ves is yours. Unlike the US trials it is not

:06:37. > :06:42.necessarily all over for the losers. British athletics can select up to

:06:42. > :06:46.three athletes with the A standard. They can select also an athlete with

:06:46. > :06:50.the lesser B standard. However this athlete will not have previously

:06:50. > :06:54.conPeted at an Olympics or a World Championships in an individual

:06:54. > :06:59.event. So reputation or good early season form may earn you a place on

:06:59. > :07:09.the British team, but those choices are left to the discretion of the

:07:09. > :07:13.selectors. In summary, unless you are Dai, Mo or Robbie, with an A

:07:13. > :07:18.standard under your belt, winning is the only way to be sure.

:07:18. > :07:23.So, it could be up to the selectors for many athletes on Monday. Neil

:07:23. > :07:30.Black, the British Athletic Performance Director can iron out

:07:30. > :07:37.some of the problems here. For example, Andrew Asaggi is injured,

:07:37. > :07:43.not competing this weekend but has competed previously. According tour

:07:43. > :07:46.your criteria he should not go to Moscow. Where do you sit? We have a

:07:46. > :07:50.round five. So athletes like Andrew fit into

:07:50. > :07:54.that category. Where I can make the decision to say that the extra

:07:54. > :07:59.special athletes, the people who have demonstrated before, who are

:07:59. > :08:03.clearly in the right environment, circumstances, will clearly need to

:08:03. > :08:08.go again, they will performance for us in Moscow, that is the position

:08:08. > :08:13.where we look to select someone like Andrew.

:08:13. > :08:19.Winner takes all, the A standard takes it but the B standard is

:08:19. > :08:23.messy. We have the long jump with Greg Rutherford and Chris Tomlinson,

:08:23. > :08:28.they have not the A standard, where do you sit with those two?

:08:28. > :08:33.standard for the long jump is high this year. Very few athletes have

:08:33. > :08:38.jumped the A standard. The selection policy again is through the same

:08:38. > :08:43.process. It allows us to look at that. We come back to the round five

:08:43. > :08:48.scenario, where it gives me, I take the advice from the selectors. We

:08:48. > :08:51.put it together to make sensible decisions, based on who will do well

:08:51. > :08:55.in Moscow, who will do well in the future.

:08:55. > :09:00.That is subjective, isn't it? That lack of uncertainty is trouble some

:09:00. > :09:06.this weekend? That make it is hard. Why you have to go out and perform

:09:06. > :09:14.as well as you can. The best way to seal it is to get the A standard. It

:09:14. > :09:19.gets difficult in the situation of someone like Steph, she missed the

:09:19. > :09:25.500 metres by sixth tenths of a second. Does this penalise her, or

:09:25. > :09:32.does it mean she has to run again? am repeating myself a lot. It means

:09:32. > :09:36.the same thing. In round five. I look back it is my disregs. Feel

:09:36. > :09:39.positive about that. It is a great position to say who are the people,

:09:39. > :09:44.who are the circumstances that we can look at.

:09:44. > :09:51.So a lot is coming down to discretion. Is there an argument

:09:51. > :09:57.where a system like the States, you get the standards? I see Paula shake

:09:57. > :10:01.her head? We are not a country with the that the US have got. So they

:10:01. > :10:06.need to have that cut and dried rule, but we want the strongest

:10:07. > :10:11.team. We can't to give youngsters the chance to go and grow. My first

:10:11. > :10:15.World Championships I was argued in the back door at that discretion.

:10:15. > :10:21.Probably the third scorer for Great Britain. My goal was to make the

:10:21. > :10:26.final but I finished seventh. It is giving youngsters the chance. So for

:10:27. > :10:31.me, I would rather be here nan the European under 23 championships. It

:10:32. > :10:36.is about making to the senior level. For the viewers at home it is

:10:36. > :10:41.confusing. We will explain where we go this afternoon where the athletes

:10:41. > :10:46.sit, but it is not that straight, oh, they came first, they are going

:10:46. > :10:53.to Moscow? No, but we said about the simple things. We took the direction

:10:53. > :10:58.of UK Sport in the sense of medals, finalists in Moscow. The second foe

:10:58. > :11:03.discuss is on the medals and the finalists. Then we have to take into

:11:03. > :11:07.account the aspiration, to know that you may be able to make the team.

:11:07. > :11:11.To take that away would have obviously been a tragedy. It would

:11:11. > :11:16.have closed a ridiculous number of doors. I think it may be that as we

:11:16. > :11:20.evolve things change, but now we have a policy that will be used to

:11:20. > :11:24.select a really good team. A team that gives people opportunities.

:11:24. > :11:32.I will be here on Tuesday explaining your decisions. Let's hope it is not

:11:32. > :11:37.a headache for you. That it works out smoothly. Let's head to the

:11:37. > :11:43.commentary box and to Colin Jackson. This race is forward. We know

:11:43. > :11:50.somebody from this race is going? is reasonably so, in that we have a

:11:50. > :11:56.defending champion, Dai Greene. Dai has an automatic selection. Rees

:11:56. > :12:01.Williams could win, if not, if he comes second, he is deemed to be

:12:01. > :12:08.going, but Ben Sumner is in great shape. He may have the chance of

:12:08. > :12:13.getting the A standard. We also have Roger running well. He may get the A

:12:13. > :12:23.Roger running well. He may get the A standard as well. Watch out for that

:12:23. > :12:39.

:12:39. > :12:43.A form former middle champion. -- midlands champion.

:12:43. > :12:49.I suppose that Roger will be watching and Ben Sumner watching the

:12:49. > :12:54.result. Ben has a chance there. He has a season's best. Close to his

:12:54. > :13:04.person best. He ran that in France a couple of weeks ago. He has a good

:13:04. > :13:05.

:13:05. > :13:13.chance of getting close to the A standard.

:13:13. > :13:18.Rhys Williams. Very well little will separate the two of them. There is

:13:18. > :13:23.Richard Yates. Not running as well as he was a few years ago but still

:13:23. > :13:28.under 50 seconds. Then the defending world champion. One man who does not

:13:28. > :13:34.have to worry about selection. He will be worried about Rhys

:13:34. > :13:41.Williams. He wants to return to the form he had in 2011. He was smarting

:13:41. > :13:51.from that defeat here. Chris Wakeford.

:13:51. > :13:56.

:13:56. > :14:00.He is this year's midland champion. Colin, I am interested in the lane

:14:00. > :14:05.draw. Williams two lanes inside of Dai

:14:05. > :14:15.Greene. What Foreign Secretary will it have? I think that Dai will be a

:14:15. > :14:25.little more anxious. You want to see where your competitor is.

:14:25. > :14:38.

:14:39. > :14:43.Williams and Green have the speed. Williams getting a good start from

:14:43. > :14:49.the blocks. Dai Greene gone hard as well.

:14:49. > :14:59.He knows that Rhys will be strong. This is a little more aggressive

:14:59. > :15:08.

:15:08. > :15:18.from Dai Greene than we saw in the Ben Sumner struggling in lane three.

:15:18. > :15:25.

:15:25. > :15:29.Assistant Commissioner John Yates wins this championship.

:15:29. > :15:34.A gutsy run. The race that we were hoping for. A real head-to-head

:15:34. > :15:40.scrap. It was anyone's race but Dai Greene

:15:40. > :15:46.took it. Williams can be good in the home

:15:46. > :15:52.strait, but Greene, I think, I said he was smarting from the defeat a

:15:53. > :16:00.couple of weeks ago. Sumner had a poor race, but Dai Greene will have

:16:00. > :16:03.been delighted for that victory. think we can take a deep breath. Two

:16:03. > :16:08.good athletes guaranteed on the plane to Moscow. I am sure that they

:16:08. > :16:14.will be in the final if things go well for them. At this stage of the

:16:14. > :16:20.race you could not call who would take the victory. Williams went off

:16:20. > :16:26.more aggress I have. Dai Greene settled then got into the groove and

:16:26. > :16:34.gained on Rhys, but then Rhys came back. You think that the race is on

:16:34. > :16:40.here. They came into the hurdle number nun. -- nine. Both athletes

:16:40. > :16:50.fancy themselves in the final home strait. They are strong. They are

:16:50. > :16:50.

:16:50. > :16:59.gutsy. What a race. A great winning time there. Dai Greene 48. 66. Rhys

:16:59. > :17:09.going in with 48. 856789 And we were looking at Ben Sumner,

:17:09. > :17:19.

:17:19. > :17:23.but Rick Yates missed the 8 standard It is fair to say that the last time

:17:24. > :17:28.we saw Dai Greene you were not yourself. Now you are back to

:17:28. > :17:34.yourself? It is important to come away with a victory. It has been

:17:34. > :17:38.difficult. The season has not gone well. I had to dig deep. Refocus and

:17:38. > :17:44.show mental toughness. Being on the outside, to still come away with a

:17:44. > :17:50.victory, I am very, very pleased. How good is it to have someone in

:17:50. > :17:59.the UK pushing you so hard? It is great for the sport. There are a lot

:17:59. > :18:03.of youngsters coming through. My training partner is the future.

:18:03. > :18:07.As the defending world champion, you are through to the World

:18:07. > :18:13.Championships in Moscow. What is the programme now? I have two races in

:18:13. > :18:17.Monaco. Then the Anniversary Games. Those will be tough races. I know

:18:17. > :18:21.that the top guys will be there. This gives me a lot of confidence,

:18:21. > :18:24.though. I feel I can push on in a competitive environment.

:18:24. > :18:28.Good to see you back in form, all the best.

:18:28. > :18:38.Thank you very much. A great race to start off this

:18:38. > :18:38.

:18:39. > :18:48.A personal best for Rhys Williams. Rick Yates with a good performance

:18:48. > :18:54.in third. Just missing the A standard. Dai Greene and Rhys

:18:54. > :18:59.Williams in for the selection. A great race to get us going. Great

:18:59. > :19:04.to see Dai Greene looking something like his best. Two weeks ago he was

:19:04. > :19:11.disappointed? We were worried about Dai. He is the defending champion.

:19:11. > :19:16.We want him to go forward with the best options. We want to see him in

:19:16. > :19:21.great shape. We need a competitive race. It will help drive you on. Now

:19:21. > :19:27.he has the push. We can see the form that he is in.

:19:27. > :19:30.The time was good. It will be interesting when it comes to the

:19:30. > :19:35.men's semi-finals, but let's talk about what happened in the heats for

:19:35. > :19:44.the 100 metres. Dwain Chambers posted that 10. 06.

:19:44. > :19:49.It is the time of the year for the oldies! Dwayne chamber running a

:19:49. > :19:56.season's best. He is a good starter. We want to see him maintain his

:19:56. > :20:01.form. That is what he dralted. He has a nice tail wind behind him.

:20:01. > :20:04.That time was ideal. As far as I'm concerned it is looking good for the

:20:04. > :20:09.race. As we head to the final. It could be

:20:09. > :20:13.headache this one as we were talking about for the selectors. There is

:20:14. > :20:22.Joe in the first semi-final, he has Ron the A standard. Three athletes

:20:22. > :20:27.did. Then Adam has not? Adam has the B, but he is in the under 23

:20:27. > :20:31.European Championships. He has won the 100 and goes in the 200 today.

:20:31. > :20:38.He is proving he can go out and win the championships at a lesser level

:20:38. > :20:43.but has not the faster A standard to guarantee the selection to Moscow

:20:43. > :20:49.for the individual event. Let's see how it goes.

:20:49. > :20:54.Steve it is over to you. Thank you very much, three

:20:55. > :21:03.semi-finals in the men's 1 hungz metres. It will be the first -- in

:21:03. > :21:13.the men's 100m. Joe Fearon with the at standard. He ran that in France.

:21:13. > :21:33.

:21:33. > :21:43.Recently. It looks like a tasty Odujobi, in good form.

:21:43. > :21:51.A lot of personal bests last night. Eugene Ayanful there.

:21:51. > :22:01.A form former under 23 champion, talking about the championships,

:22:01. > :22:08.

:22:08. > :22:18.there is James alacka. -- Alaka. Fearon, perhaps the

:22:18. > :22:18.

:22:18. > :23:25.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 61 seconds

:23:25. > :23:35.Greg cack et, making it through. There was a wind last night. It is

:23:35. > :23:43.

:23:43. > :23:48.something similar today. Perfect There was a little twitch from

:23:48. > :23:52.Fearon. Harry was the first to make a slight movement. I think that

:23:52. > :23:56.Fearon could anybody trouble. If that is the case then that is going

:23:56. > :24:01.to be the first dramatic moment of the weekend.

:24:01. > :24:05.He looks worried. He should be, I think.

:24:05. > :24:14.We have a computer where the reaction times come up. They have

:24:14. > :24:19.not come up yet. With ply naked eye -- with my naked eye. We were

:24:19. > :24:29.watching the middle lanes but Fearon had aly twitch before the gun went.

:24:29. > :24:38.

:24:38. > :24:45.He is going. He knows. He is not even waiting to receive the card. It

:24:45. > :24:49.is being shown in front of his lane. He has walked away, Fearon. That is

:24:49. > :24:58.the first dramatic moment. Fearon, who has the A standard will not

:24:58. > :25:08.anybody the final. He has only won that A standard in

:25:08. > :25:12.

:25:12. > :25:14.one race in France. It is often That is nothing to take away from

:25:14. > :25:24.Joel, but he is not in the final now.

:25:24. > :25:45.

:25:45. > :25:54.Greg Cackett has been in very good form. The Belgrave Harrier. That was

:25:54. > :26:03.outside of his personal best, but Harry had to work really hard to get

:26:03. > :26:10.on terms with him. Harry there and Greg pushed Harry

:26:10. > :26:15.all the way there. I wonder how close that is to a best

:26:15. > :26:24.there? Steve, you are right, it was Greg in the start who was in the

:26:24. > :26:28.lead. He ran his lifetime best at the same track at Joel Fearon did at

:26:28. > :26:33.altitude. Here Harry using experience to edge

:26:33. > :26:39.ahead of Cackett. Those two are certainly in the final.

:26:39. > :26:44.Cackett got the best start. Harry a little slow to react to the gun.

:26:45. > :26:53.About a metre between the two. Then the strength of Harry just brought

:26:53. > :26:58.the strength of Harry just brought him through.

:26:58. > :27:06.So drama in the first of the 100 metres semi-final.

:27:06. > :27:16.Fearon, who had the A standard will be disappointed. While he may make

:27:16. > :27:16.

:27:16. > :27:22.the relay place it will not put him in a good stashed standard for the 1

:27:22. > :27:29.100m men's? It is difficult this. Some think it is unfair, but you

:27:29. > :27:36.know if you do make a false start, it is not negotiable. There he, as

:27:36. > :27:41.the gun goes, it is marginal. It is margins but that is the reality of

:27:41. > :27:48.the sport. Gold Medals are won by margins. You cannot afford a false

:27:48. > :27:51.start. Even Usain Bolt had to qualify for

:27:51. > :27:55.his World Championships and take part in the Jamaican trials.

:27:55. > :28:01.Thinking about the trials that are happening around the world this

:28:01. > :28:06.weekend, the Kenyan Trials, it feels like we could anybody Nairobi right

:28:06. > :28:10.now. It is getting hotter. Let's talk about those who are not here.

:28:10. > :28:15.Jessica Ennis has been pulling out of events week by week saying she is

:28:15. > :28:22.not turning up. This weekend is one of those. Where do you think she is

:28:22. > :28:27.at in hopes of appearing in Moscow? We spoke about it earlier in the

:28:27. > :28:32.season. I was worried about the injury. An Achilles injury is a pain

:28:32. > :28:35.in the life for any athlete. All of your force, energy goes through this

:28:35. > :28:40.part of your body. When you are trying to prepare for seven events

:28:40. > :28:43.as Jessica is, you can imagine the frustration. Even if there is not so

:28:43. > :28:47.much pressure going on at one event. There is no doubt she will feel it

:28:47. > :28:52.on another. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the medical

:28:52. > :28:59.staff are working hard on her. That she can get to Moscow, but it will

:29:00. > :29:04.be a tough call. We could be without Jessica, we could be without Greg

:29:04. > :29:11.Rutherford. We were there in Paris. He pulled out. He is not here this

:29:11. > :29:18.weekend. He not have the A standard. Does he get picked on the caveat

:29:18. > :29:25.that he is just fit? We would be risky to pick an Olympic champion,

:29:25. > :29:32.but if he can say 100% he is fit and ready to go, I would say give him a

:29:32. > :29:37.chance. Now, James des lieu. The fastest man

:29:37. > :29:43.so far. He had a great race here two weeks ago in the Diamond League. He

:29:43. > :29:48.is one of the few that could go under ten seconds. He was so close.

:29:48. > :29:52.Very close. We were on the edge of our feet waiting for him to do the

:29:52. > :29:58.magical figure it would be nice for him to concentrate on the victory.

:29:58. > :30:08.That is going to be important today. Let's have a reminder just how good

:30:08. > :30:19.

:30:19. > :30:28.There he is. Doing a bit of last-minute stretching. Even more

:30:28. > :30:35.impressive than the 20. 03. Was the 10705 into a head wind.

:30:35. > :30:45.It will be interesting to see if he goes quicker than the first semi-.

:30:45. > :30:48.

:30:48. > :30:58.Greg Cackett going through. Greg Cackett going through.

:30:58. > :31:00.

:31:00. > :31:10.The first two plus the two fastest losers from all three semi-finals

:31:10. > :31:16.

:31:16. > :31:26.make it through. Lumar Sylvester.

:31:26. > :31:26.

:31:26. > :31:33.A talented all-round sprinter. 30-year-old Mark Lewis-Francis. Of

:31:33. > :31:37.course, the Olympic champion way, way back in 2004 in the four 4x100m

:31:37. > :31:47.relay. Since then, there have been injuries, but back in some sort of

:31:47. > :31:55.

:31:55. > :32:01.shape. Sean Safo Antwi sixth in the English

:32:01. > :32:07.championships last year. He has improvements this season.

:32:07. > :32:11.There is the est in the field. The fastest man in Britain.

:32:11. > :32:17.James Dasaolu. So close to making his own little

:32:17. > :32:27.bit of history. He is trying to become the fourth

:32:27. > :32:38.

:32:38. > :32:47.man under ten Sebs wearing a British ves. -- vest.

:32:47. > :32:51.Dwain Chambers going in the last semi-final. A lot of interest in

:32:51. > :33:01.this one. With Mark Lewis-Francis going in lane throw.

:33:01. > :33:02.

:33:02. > :33:12.-- three. James Dasaolu with happy times

:33:12. > :33:34.

:33:34. > :33:44.Wow! It is league ap! A following wind.

:33:44. > :33:51.What a way to go through to the final.

:33:51. > :33:56.Second fastest ever only to Linford Christie in the British all time

:33:56. > :34:01.list. How about that. If you didn't think that James

:34:01. > :34:09.Dasaolu had arrived, he certainly has now. Boy has he put himself in

:34:09. > :34:16.the frame for a World Championship final place. That was sensational.

:34:16. > :34:21.Wow! Well everybody around us here, in the commentary box, the media.

:34:21. > :34:25.There are open mouths of applause. Stunning. This is the bit he got a

:34:25. > :34:30.great start and kept going. It looks like he is full of running. He is

:34:30. > :34:35.looking at the clock. I said that these were perfect conditions. Look

:34:35. > :34:40.how far back second and third are. This is true world-class. A really

:34:40. > :34:45.good drive out. Look how low he stays. Then he comes up. Then to get

:34:45. > :34:48.up to the top speed is impressive. That when he moved away from

:34:48. > :34:52.everybody. He does not fade. Really strong.

:34:52. > :34:58.All the way through. We were hoping for some drama this weekend. We

:34:58. > :35:01.thought it was all to do with the selection, but this is a truly

:35:02. > :35:05.word-class performance which will reverberate around the world. We are

:35:05. > :35:10.talking about the sprinters, they have a great battle to get on the

:35:10. > :35:17.team but then what are the chances of them going to the worlds to get

:35:17. > :35:22.anywhere near the final? Well, all of a sudden, this young man, given

:35:22. > :35:32.the conditions, admittedly but he has had impressive runs culminating

:35:32. > :35:43.

:35:43. > :35:53.That was special! He smashed the barrier! Everyone is so pleased

:35:53. > :35:56.

:35:56. > :36:01.here. He has moved ahead of world seeds, he is now fourth.

:36:01. > :36:07.It is a mental barrier. You can see the disappointment when he did not

:36:07. > :36:13.manage to go under ten seconds. This is before the final. He looked so

:36:13. > :36:18.relaxed. Like a man in the form of his life. Timing it perfectly.

:36:18. > :36:25.a great starter. We know that. We expect him to push out of the blocks

:36:25. > :36:30.and work well. What was exceptional, he kept low. He drove for a long

:36:30. > :36:35.time and looked in control. When he got upright he could concentrate on

:36:35. > :36:39.relaxing and holding his form. Not pushing for more speed, just resting

:36:39. > :36:45.on the wind and let his beautiful acceleration that he has delivered

:36:45. > :36:52.to do the business for him. It did. The fourth fastest time of the year.

:36:52. > :36:56.The second fastest time by a British man. Four weeks to go till Moscow.

:36:56. > :37:01.Dare we dream we see him on the podium? We will see him in the

:37:01. > :37:05.final. That is what we want to see. A British athlete in the sprint

:37:05. > :37:09.finals. With that performance, we may have one.

:37:09. > :37:14.Colin, thank you. Steve, we were saying that there could be drama

:37:15. > :37:18.about selection. That is the kind of drama that British athletics wants?

:37:18. > :37:23.You are right. It is the performances that we want

:37:23. > :37:28.to talk about. We don't want to be messing around

:37:28. > :37:35.with who may go and not. That was a world-class performance.

:37:35. > :37:42.What a time. Only the great Linford Christie has

:37:42. > :37:52.run faster. And Mark Lewis-Francis. A good time

:37:52. > :37:52.

:37:52. > :39:32.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 61 seconds

:39:32. > :39:39.for hip but he was -- a good time Well the crowd here is still stunned

:39:39. > :39:49.by that previous run. Dwain Chambers may take the view of

:39:49. > :40:21.

:40:21. > :40:28.just getting through safely. The Dwain Chambers takes the winment

:40:28. > :40:33.That will not ablegal time. 10. 02. Somebody must have been blowing hard

:40:33. > :40:42.behind them. I don't know where that gust of wind came from. What a good

:40:42. > :40:46.start. A good start by Robinson.

:40:46. > :40:53.Andrew Robertson certainly got a great start. One of the best he has

:40:53. > :40:56.had for a long time, but the experience of Dwain Chambers brought

:40:56. > :41:01.him through, but how much does he have left to take into the final in

:41:01. > :41:06.a couple of hours' time. Robertson is two from the

:41:06. > :41:11.right-hand. Now Dwain Chambers begins to pull away, but it took a

:41:11. > :41:20.while. He which need a better start in the final for a chance against

:41:20. > :41:26.the new mighty man of British sprinting, James Dasaolu.

:41:26. > :41:32.He just came up at about 40 metres. Rose to his full height and started

:41:32. > :41:38.to drive for the line, but he knew he had to work hard. He knows that

:41:38. > :41:44.James Dasaolu can get away to a very fast start as he proved in the last

:41:44. > :41:47.semi-final. A good run, though, by semi-final. A good run, though, by

:41:47. > :41:51.Dwain Chambers. He is through. With the form that he is showing, we

:41:51. > :41:57.no that time is not legal because of the wind but this final could be

:41:57. > :42:02.something special? It is our best domestic final. I am talking from

:42:02. > :42:07.way back when, including Linford Christie in his day. This is the

:42:07. > :42:11.chance to see the old king to be replaced by the new one.

:42:11. > :42:16.This is an exciting race in prospect.

:42:16. > :42:23.A great head-to-head and for the relay it bodes well. Having the

:42:23. > :42:27.strengthth and the depth? It is looking exciting. We look at where

:42:27. > :42:32.the Jamaicans and the US are but Britain is looking strong.

:42:32. > :42:38.Now, let's join Jonathan Edwards with the women's triple jump for us.

:42:38. > :42:43.This happened earlier on before we came on air. We had anticipated that

:42:43. > :42:53.Yamile Aldama would take the title. She is looking to get out to 40

:42:53. > :43:03.

:43:03. > :43:07.the first round. She has struggled with injury in the last 12 months.

:43:07. > :43:12.Not right there. A real disappointment here in the trials.

:43:12. > :43:20.She will not anybody the World Championships in Moscow. Over 40

:43:20. > :43:28.years old now. In her absence of form. Now it was left to Laura

:43:28. > :43:35.Samuel. She won the British championships in 2010. This was her

:43:35. > :43:41.fourth consettingive national title. Quite a performance. 13 metres over.

:43:41. > :43:50.A nice balance to the jump. She will have hoped to have improved since

:43:50. > :43:55.winning the World Junior silver medal.

:43:55. > :44:05.Jumping 13. 73. So a good performance from the reigning

:44:05. > :44:11.

:44:11. > :44:15.champion. Taking the national title for a fourth year in a row.

:44:15. > :44:25.The men's 400m semi-finals are up on the track. Some of these men are

:44:25. > :44:25.

:44:25. > :45:37.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 61 seconds

:45:37. > :45:47.The stadium is bathed in sunshine. The next is the 400m semi-finals.

:45:47. > :45:55.

:45:55. > :46:05.A competitive line-up. Bristol and West have a good squad of athletes.

:46:05. > :46:08.

:46:08. > :46:18.Dan Puttnam from Blackheath and Bromley. The English under 23

:46:18. > :46:18.

:46:18. > :46:28.champion. He too has run a livetime Then the familiar figure of Richard

:46:28. > :46:31.

:46:31. > :46:36.Andrew Steele has had some bad luck over the years with injury. An

:46:36. > :46:45.Olympic semi-finalist in Beijing. Also a UK champion some years ago.

:46:45. > :46:49.28 years old, now. One of the new young fellows.

:46:49. > :46:56.Luke Lennon Ford. He knows the track well.

:46:56. > :47:03.He has had a stunning season. Jamie Bowie of Inverness.

:47:03. > :47:09.The European under 23 international. He got a medal in the four bi 4x400m

:47:09. > :47:19.relay. Michael Warner. Represent Representing nam Trent

:47:19. > :47:24.

:47:24. > :47:34.And finally, Rory Evans. A medallist previously indoors but never

:47:34. > :47:34.

:47:34. > :48:28.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 61 seconds

:48:28. > :48:38.Luke Lennon Ford having a very good 200m. Richard Strachan has to kick

:48:38. > :48:58.

:48:58. > :49:02.hard in the third part. What a time.

:49:02. > :49:09.To run one of his fastest times ever.

:49:09. > :49:13.The winning time there 46. 52. You get the impression you have to

:49:13. > :49:19.run faster by the time we get to the final, but that was a big surprise.

:49:19. > :49:23.Well done to Jamie, but the other big names will look at that and

:49:23. > :49:29.think what happened there. Luke Lennon Ford looked good. Andrew

:49:29. > :49:35.Steele finished well in qualifying. Richard Buck did not look too bad,

:49:35. > :49:42.but all three of them. The first 200 was slow. They let Bowie get out

:49:42. > :49:47.there hard. In the home strait they have too much to do. Richard Buck

:49:47. > :49:52.and Andrew Steele are trying to close on Luke Lennon Ford. Even

:49:52. > :49:58.Michael Warner is still in there, but look at this, Jamie Bowie

:49:58. > :50:04.keeping the form going. Keeping the metre advantage. It is Richard Buck

:50:04. > :50:10.who loses out in terms of top three automatic spot. There may be a

:50:10. > :50:17.fastest loser, but that is a shock. The man from the Highlands, from

:50:17. > :50:27.Inverness. The former Scottish indoor champion as well. Jamie Bowie

:50:27. > :50:39.

:50:39. > :50:43.just 24 years of age. Well done to The first round of the men's long

:50:44. > :50:51.jump. Chris Tomlinson. The thing we have talked about so far. The

:50:51. > :50:58.dilemma of selection that could rooif in Chris Tomlinson does not

:50:58. > :51:03.jump an A standard. The A standard is over 8 metres.

:51:03. > :51:09.If you jump that it could put your tenth in the world. So it is tough.

:51:09. > :51:14.If he does not jump it here, the selectors will have to choose

:51:14. > :51:21.between Rutherford and Thomas. That could be interesting indeed.

:51:21. > :51:28.Would you leave the Olympic champion behind? 8 metres and over there for

:51:28. > :51:35.Chris Tomlinson. Well this happened about an hour

:51:35. > :51:42.ago. The women's discus final.

:51:42. > :51:48.Jade Lally. In round five she came out and blasted the discus. It was

:51:48. > :51:52.beyond the 60 metre line. The one and only time she has managed to

:51:52. > :51:58.achieve that, but definitely a B qualifying standard. So when the

:51:58. > :52:03.selectors sit down, Jade Lally will be one of those discussed as one of

:52:03. > :52:08.the discretionary places, but no doubt about the winner here, Jade

:52:08. > :52:14.Lally, with a season's best for 2013. Another event that happened

:52:14. > :52:19.earlier on was the women's high jump, won by Emma Nuttall of the

:52:19. > :52:27.Edinburgh club. On her third attempt she cleared 1.

:52:27. > :52:37.87. A personal best for the Scottish athlete.

:52:37. > :52:43.And some news from Donetsk, Morgan Lake in the heptathlete. A British

:52:43. > :52:53.Beth from the British athlete so far and Emma Nuttall with a personal

:52:53. > :52:54.

:52:54. > :53:00.best of 11 87. Thank you very much, well we have

:53:00. > :53:06.mentioned some of those not Keating. One of the huge -- not competing.

:53:06. > :53:16.One of the huge names of British athletics, and we may not see him

:53:16. > :53:54.

:53:54. > :53:58.Yes, Phillips Idowu announcing he was not going to compete has also'

:53:58. > :54:02.vealed he is taking a break from the sport. Let's prisoning in Jonathan

:54:02. > :54:09.Edwards. At this stage in his career, a break does not sound

:54:09. > :54:15.positive about the long-term career? You would expect Phillips Idowu to

:54:15. > :54:20.say that is it, he is retiring, you think of the trauma last year. The

:54:20. > :54:24.fall-out with commonaway, and the split with his coach. He has been in

:54:24. > :54:30.the kitchen with MasterChef. It all speaks of the man who may have had

:54:30. > :54:34.his fill of athletics. He has had a great career, but maybe this is him

:54:34. > :54:39.saying that after the season he may not jump anymore.

:54:39. > :54:44.You know how difficult this event is on the body. How difficult it is

:54:44. > :54:50.mentally. Could time out refresh him? Invigorate him? Heal the old

:54:50. > :54:55.injuries and perhaps give him a kick when he sees the competition this

:54:55. > :55:00.year, sees the World Championships and want to be here? My feeling,

:55:00. > :55:05.after last year, not winning gold in a home Olympics, that is tough to

:55:05. > :55:10.come back from. He knows he will not be Olympic champion, he may not

:55:10. > :55:16.carry on until 2016 in Rio. I think it will be hard for him at that age

:55:16. > :55:22.to find the energy. I won in si any in 2,000. If I had not won in

:55:22. > :55:25.Sydney, it would have been a knock, I would have said that was it.

:55:25. > :55:30.Jonathan Edwards, thank you. Time will tell, of course.

:55:30. > :55:40.Now time for the track and the next 400m semi-final.

:55:40. > :55:48.

:55:48. > :55:56.Let's join your commentator, Steve We have seen one of the bigger names

:55:56. > :56:06.under threat in terms of his place in the final. Richard Buck finish

:56:06. > :56:06.

:56:06. > :56:16.finishing fourth in the previous race. There is Greg Louden.

:56:16. > :56:25.

:56:25. > :56:35.Then the big names, Conrad, Williams. Nigel Levine.

:56:35. > :56:35.

:56:35. > :56:45.He got the chance to represent Britain in the team championships.

:56:45. > :56:45.

:56:45. > :56:53.And Michael Bingeham. Tim Burton. The northern champion this year. He

:56:53. > :57:03.is in lane six. Another man who will be looking to go well here, Richard

:57:03. > :57:09.

:57:09. > :57:15.Strachan. Again, coached by Linford Christie. Trains with Nigel Levine.

:57:15. > :57:23.Then Kris Robertson. The top three go through. The two fastest losers

:57:23. > :57:29.spots from the moment, from the first semi- if any of the big names

:57:29. > :57:39.go through, if they run slower, they will be disappointed. The conditions

:57:39. > :57:41.

:57:41. > :57:51.are perfect. A little breeze picking But hardly anything to hold them up.

:57:51. > :57:57.

:57:57. > :58:07.The A standard is 45. 28. The B standard is 45. 60.

:58:07. > :58:14.

:58:14. > :58:24.Levine is looking like he is trying to get close to bingeham.

:58:24. > :58:29.

:58:29. > :58:36.Strachan is adding a lead. Bingham is struggling here.

:58:36. > :58:43.Conrad Williams is coming through. Levine who really judged this the

:58:43. > :58:51.best. On the line, Strachan is hanging on.

:58:51. > :58:57.It may be Michael Bingham and Richard Buck to come through from

:58:57. > :59:07.the fastest losers, but Levine judged that well. Strachan had to

:59:07. > :59:12.

:59:12. > :59:21.hit it hard in lane six, but Levine did it very well there.

:59:21. > :59:25.Levine modest in the way he ran the first 150. , but this point, Michael

:59:25. > :59:31.Bingham seemed to slow down a little. He let everyone else come

:59:31. > :59:36.into contention. This is where he lost it it but Levine was Colling on

:59:36. > :59:45.strong. As was Williams. Strachan was in contention. Michael Bingham

:59:45. > :59:49.did not give up. He knows how precious the qualifying places are.

:59:49. > :59:56.Levine looking great in the last 40 metres. The fastest time we have

:59:56. > :00:06.seen in the semi-finals. A fairly modest time compared with the 45. 50

:00:06. > :00:06.

:00:06. > :00:12.he has run. Bingham has been given third.

:00:12. > :00:17.It's the third round of the men's long jump. Chris Tomlinson. Still

:00:17. > :00:26.leading. Difficult conditions for the athletes. Going in the opposite

:00:26. > :00:36.direction to the 100m strait. A positive wind for James Dasaolu.

:00:36. > :00:42.An amaze amazing 9.11. Amazing. Here Chris tomorrow linson is looking for

:00:42. > :00:50.the A standard to guarantee selection.

:00:50. > :00:59.Well, I think it is a no jump. It is over 8 metres, but it is a red

:00:59. > :01:05.flag. Here sometimes the wind is behind

:01:05. > :01:15.you when you start the run up but then comes into your face. There we

:01:15. > :01:34.

:01:34. > :01:44.go, a foul but still leading for Over on the far side of the track

:01:44. > :02:05.

:02:05. > :02:15.the men's 1500m. This is a final for Brewer has spent time in the States.

:02:15. > :02:16.

:02:16. > :02:26.Coming back into form. There is Hay. I think that he will

:02:26. > :02:28.

:02:28. > :02:36.be the favourite. O'Hare has done a great qualifying

:02:36. > :02:42.standard. He ran in Belgium just over a week ago.

:02:42. > :02:51.Warburton, who is hoping that he can rediscover some of his old form

:02:51. > :03:01.here. James Shane and Chris Gaul, they were a couple of casualties

:03:01. > :03:03.

:03:03. > :03:08.last knight. I will mention the qualifying time

:03:08. > :03:13.the 3.35 A standard. No British men have it, but there are only four

:03:13. > :03:21.Europeans that have it. They are all French. It gives an indication.

:03:21. > :03:25.There it is, 3.35 flat. I think that is a tough qualifying time. If it

:03:25. > :03:30.meant that there were no nations in Europe other than France, with a

:03:30. > :03:40.representative, you could argue that they have to go faster but that is a

:03:40. > :03:42.

:03:42. > :03:47.tough qualification. Paula, is anyone here going to do

:03:47. > :03:54.that time? I doubt it. I would like to see it. It gives them a good

:03:54. > :03:59.chance to come together, for some of them to come awhich with a bvt -- to

:03:59. > :04:06.come away with a B standard. I do find it questionable, while the

:04:06. > :04:09.standards are getting higher but the standards worldwide are no.

:04:09. > :04:14.Definitely as they have gone off here today, nobody is interested in

:04:14. > :04:20.going for that time. It may be something to do with how warm the

:04:20. > :04:28.weather is. Although it is not super hot for a 1500m. Yes if you are

:04:28. > :04:31.doing a 10,000m, but for a 1500 metres, with a little breeze. They

:04:31. > :04:37.are only out for three and three quarter laps.

:04:37. > :04:41.It is slow. As part of the selection, it was mentioned in the

:04:41. > :04:45.beginning of the programme. There is no time to get the time after the

:04:45. > :04:51.championships. In the past there were a couple of weeks with big

:04:51. > :04:54.meetings all over Europe and the closing date is not for another two

:04:54. > :04:58.weeks but the selection policy is that they pick the team on Monday,

:04:58. > :05:03.that is it. I think that was something that was

:05:03. > :05:08.handed to Neil Black of the you question why was it not pushed back.

:05:08. > :05:12.To give people to chase times in races like Monaco, or in the names

:05:12. > :05:18.like in London before the closing time. To give the guys in the

:05:18. > :05:22.distance a chance to get into faster races and to do something about it.

:05:22. > :05:31.Chris O'Hare has been at the back, but just to finish that discussion

:05:31. > :05:35.off, you are right. Looking at Lee Manzano, they had to go to chase the

:05:35. > :05:38.A standard after their trials, yet they went and picked up medals in

:05:38. > :05:45.the Olympics and the worl championships. They are just

:05:45. > :05:50.beginning to warm up. Finally we see the shape coming

:05:50. > :05:59.together. Chris trying to pick up the pace. To make it faster than the

:05:59. > :06:04.women's pace. They ran 69. That was a 66 lap. Lee

:06:04. > :06:09.on the kerb there. Chris O'Hare with a really good spot. He has learned

:06:09. > :06:14.his race. Crafted it in America. So has Lee, but they don't get the

:06:14. > :06:19.chance to run fast times. They don't get the invites to the big races in

:06:19. > :06:27.Europe. It is not surprising that they don't run that quick, but the

:06:27. > :06:32.race is on now. Lee was kicked yesterday. O'Hare has

:06:32. > :06:42.a good finish on him. He wants to control this.

:06:42. > :06:43.

:06:43. > :06:49.Look at the determination on the face. He has made his move. Follow

:06:49. > :06:55.by James Brewer. He is still putting himself in a

:06:55. > :07:02.good position here. 55 for that lap. O'Hare really

:07:02. > :07:06.turning the pressure on. Four have pulled away. There is Dave Bishop on

:07:07. > :07:13.the back of the three. James Brewer moving up as well. They

:07:13. > :07:19.are looking like they are struggling on the top bend, but once again

:07:19. > :07:24.another good kick from Chris O'Hare. Peters tries to find room on the

:07:24. > :07:32.outside. No doubt about the winner. Chris O'Hare kicking hard for the

:07:32. > :07:37.second time. He controlled that race perfectly. Brewer takes sect --

:07:37. > :07:43.second. Chris O'Hare has done all that was asked of him. He has won

:07:44. > :07:49.the championship. He does not have the A standard. He has run within

:07:50. > :07:53.three tenths. Here is is a young man that could go somewhere like the

:07:53. > :07:59.World Championships and make his way through the rounds. He has the pace

:07:59. > :08:04.to turn it on when he has to. They may not be running the

:08:04. > :08:08.qualifying times but they are getting a good grounding in

:08:08. > :08:12.championship-style racing. Chris judged it perfectly. He came in

:08:12. > :08:17.confident with the B standard, knowing he was clear. Faster than

:08:17. > :08:25.others in the field and able to control the race. James Brewer

:08:25. > :08:29.finished strongly. I think he will come away from that with confidence

:08:29. > :08:39.l confidence. They can only take one on the B

:08:39. > :08:47.

:08:47. > :08:51.standard. And a delighted Chris O'Hare. Chris

:08:51. > :09:01.a fantastic performance. You controlled it from the start it

:09:01. > :09:05.

:09:05. > :09:09.happy with that. It is hot, nobody wants to run too fast. I was

:09:09. > :09:13.confident if it came down to the last few I could take it. We were

:09:13. > :09:18.talking about it last night. If you get to that stage it becomes

:09:18. > :09:24.penalties. Anybody can win of the I am glad I could hold on for the win.

:09:24. > :09:29.With that win do you think you have booked your place to Moscow? About

:09:29. > :09:36.the qualification there is 3.35 but you are the only man with a right to

:09:36. > :09:41.go in the way? In a way, I hope so. I hope that was enough. It is a long

:09:41. > :09:45.wait now. I have to hope and pray for the best.

:09:45. > :09:51.A nice birthday present for your sister? Absolutely. She has been

:09:51. > :09:54.there for me this year. It's been a hard year, but I'm glad she's been

:09:54. > :10:04.there for me. Well done on your performance today

:10:04. > :10:24.

:10:24. > :10:34.Chris other hair -- O'Hare on the way to Moscow, hopefully. Plenty

:10:34. > :10:58.

:10:58. > :11:04.I should give you a temperature update. It is 32 Celsius in the

:11:04. > :11:09.shade. We have come down here. We are near

:11:09. > :11:15.the start of the 1 United Nations metres final start, but as I said

:11:15. > :11:24.that a lovely cloud has given a little bit of respite. It is a

:11:24. > :11:32.little cooler here. It is a little blustery here. I

:11:32. > :11:37.think that the ladies here will be excited. They will be in good hope.

:11:37. > :11:43.Asha Philip. Annabel Lewis. These are the girls that we are looking

:11:43. > :11:47.at? Yes, four, five and six are the lanes we should be looking for,

:11:47. > :11:51.sorry, three, four and six. I knew there was a gap.

:11:51. > :12:01.They are the people that we are looking at. They are the most

:12:01. > :12:11.

:12:11. > :12:15.talented in the field. It is the British women in the 100m

:12:15. > :12:21.and we have not the A standard runner just yet, but the conditions

:12:21. > :12:27.are good. It is a tough standard. Paula said

:12:27. > :12:34.the same thing of the 1500m. It is tough for them, but I think that

:12:34. > :12:41.these athletes can do it. Ashia Philips is one that we always look

:12:41. > :12:47.forward to. She is in lane three. Montell

:12:47. > :12:51.Douglas has gone 11. 05. So a very exciting race.

:12:51. > :12:56.It is very exciting to be this close, sensing the nerves, the

:12:56. > :13:05.tension. It is very tight. Hopefully good times ahead.

:13:05. > :13:10.Steve is in the commentary box. Thank you, Gabby. The women 's final

:13:10. > :13:16.is coming up shortly. We will bring you the result of that we were

:13:16. > :13:23.expecting it. It has not come through yet. We are waiting for a

:13:23. > :13:33.photo finish on that. And there is the line-up for the

:13:33. > :13:33.

:13:33. > :15:16.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 61 seconds

:15:16. > :15:26.And there is the line-up for the The two main competitors, Asha

:15:26. > :15:55.

:15:55. > :16:00.Philip in lane three. Annabel Lewis. Asha Philip takes it. That is an A

:16:00. > :16:06.standard. She is on her way to the World Championships! It could not

:16:06. > :16:13.have gone better for her today. Coached by a former international

:16:13. > :16:17.British sprinter. Hasn't she done a brilliant job? ! Asha Philip. She is

:16:17. > :16:26.on the plane. She is definitely Britain's number one at the moment.

:16:26. > :16:36.The perfect run for her. Absolutely superb. We will be

:16:36. > :16:41.

:16:41. > :16:51.hearing from her, but what about that? Asha Philip got to have a

:16:51. > :16:56.

:16:56. > :17:03.tremendous start and she just kept on going. Paula, I am on the

:17:03. > :17:08.start-line. Asha did not get a great start. So for us it was good to see

:17:08. > :17:16.her take hold of the race at 60 metres and pull away. Her start was

:17:16. > :17:21.not that good. She reacted well but the first three or four strides, and

:17:22. > :17:26.Lewis gained a couple of inches, but when she got into that beautiful

:17:26. > :17:31.flow of hers, she kept going. Pouring on the power. That is the

:17:31. > :17:41.real art of sprinting to generate the speed and keeping the tension

:17:41. > :17:42.

:17:42. > :17:48.from the shoulders. Asha delivered that. A well deserved qualification.

:17:48. > :17:54.An 11. 20. That is how it makes it all the

:17:54. > :17:58.better for Asha. That takes you to Moscow? Yes! I'm so happy. When I

:17:58. > :18:03.crossed the line. To get that time I was so happy. So happy.

:18:03. > :18:10.Tell me the pressure you were on? Not only knowing you needed to win

:18:10. > :18:16.the race but to do the time is out? Well it is hard, but this is a

:18:16. > :18:19.beautiful day. My family are here. My cousin, my mum it is so good to

:18:19. > :18:25.see them here. Were you aware of what James was

:18:25. > :18:32.able to do? I heard that in the warm-up area. He has it in him. I

:18:32. > :18:39.hope he can go faster. And I am sure you can go faster as

:18:39. > :18:46.well. Well done for a great effort. Thank you! What a run by Asha Philip

:18:46. > :18:54.and what a time to do it. Her new lifetime best performance. Things

:18:54. > :19:01.looking good. Annabel Lewis gets second and 1-year-old Desiree Henry,

:19:01. > :19:08.a new personal best for her. -- 17-year-old.

:19:08. > :19:12.She said it there, they stopped on the warm-up track. She felt that, it

:19:12. > :19:16.was lovely to see that they get the confidence for the form. Needing the

:19:16. > :19:20.A standard as well. It is perfect timing.

:19:20. > :19:25.Sometimes we are critical of our British athletes for not performing

:19:26. > :19:31.and getting the great times but we don't have the conditions like this.

:19:31. > :19:35.Given the conditions, we are going to get the times. That was a

:19:35. > :19:43.phenomenal performance. And if you know her injury problems,

:19:43. > :19:47.what he had to do to come back. She had a long time out? Oh, man, an

:19:47. > :19:52.incredible amount of time out. It is wonderful to see. She did not get

:19:52. > :19:57.out well. She will go back. She will critise it. Every athlete is like

:19:58. > :20:03.that. Looking at where to get the imprufmentes from, but I can assure

:20:03. > :20:09.you, you will see that the start was not as good as it could have been,

:20:09. > :20:16.but it was so majestic. She kept relaxed. Even though chasing that

:20:16. > :20:21.time, she did not stress. It was just the last couple of metres, she

:20:21. > :20:24.knew she was going well. Look at her reaction when she sees the time.

:20:24. > :20:30.That is for the time, not the victory. Wonderful.

:20:30. > :20:35.She is on the plane to Moscow. She is at the World Championships

:20:35. > :20:41.representing Great Britain. You expect that lady as well, Tiffany

:20:41. > :20:48.Porter. She has the A standard. It will be unlikely that any of the

:20:48. > :20:53.girls will beat here. She is head and shoulders above the rest.

:20:53. > :20:58.We want her to use the fact that she had no pressure. She can walk this

:20:58. > :21:02.and get on the plane. I would like to see her taking a couple of Ricks.

:21:03. > :21:07.We could see a good performance from her.

:21:07. > :21:14.The conditions here today, the track running well. She could save time

:21:14. > :21:17.off. I think she will look for a season's

:21:17. > :21:27.best. Let's go to the commentary box

:21:27. > :21:27.

:21:27. > :22:14.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 61 seconds

:22:14. > :22:18.again. Steve is calling this one. So, there is no doubt about who

:22:18. > :22:28.should win this, the question is whether she can take advantage of

:22:28. > :22:28.

:22:28. > :23:29.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 61 seconds

:23:29. > :23:34.Well, Serita Solomon does have the B standard. The selectors may take a

:23:34. > :23:39.view it could be worth thinking to give her an opportunity.

:23:39. > :23:45.Maybe if she dips under 13 seconds. The A standard is not far under

:23:45. > :23:55.that. It is 12. 94. Probably one of the

:23:55. > :24:15.

:24:15. > :24:21.most fiercely contested events in That is just outside of her season's

:24:21. > :24:25.best. Not sure if she would be delighted with the start, but once

:24:25. > :24:31.she started hurdling, nice and relaxed. No pressure. That is often

:24:31. > :24:41.telling for the high hurdlers. With nobody around you can relax. She did

:24:41. > :24:41.

:24:41. > :24:51.that in the second half of the race. 12. 6 her clock time there. Solomon

:24:51. > :24:58.had a good start but could not maintain it through.

:24:58. > :25:04.Really smooth from Tiffany Porter. Very, very nice indeed. A good run

:25:05. > :25:10.from Solomon there. Just of the 13 seconds. Colin, what

:25:10. > :25:18.did you make of that? Steve, it was wonderful to see Tiffany going for

:25:18. > :25:24.it. That is where she suffers in the world-class, from the back end. When

:25:24. > :25:29.everybody is trailing, she slight slightly let's herself down, but she

:25:29. > :25:35.did not get the best of starts, but she gets into the drive and starts

:25:35. > :25:40.to move in. So she believes she has to close it down, close down the

:25:40. > :25:45.trail leg and close it off the best that she can. This part of the race

:25:45. > :25:51.she is still quick. Not suffering technical fatigue, where the trail

:25:51. > :25:55.leg starts to slow down. It is about hurdle eight where she suffers. She

:25:55. > :26:03.just suffering going into the final barriers it is a relief to get over

:26:03. > :26:09.them. Working hard to the line. 12. 68 is the time she gets.

:26:09. > :26:13.There was a tell-tale shaking of head. Just for the start, the rest

:26:13. > :26:17.was great. The start was bad, but I'm happy

:26:17. > :26:21.with the win. Generally, your form has been great

:26:21. > :26:27.through the season, comparing and contrasting this time now to last

:26:27. > :26:36.year. It is a big difference. Absolutely. Last year did not go as

:26:36. > :26:46.we planned, but this year has gone better. I am confidence -- confident

:26:46. > :26:47.

:26:47. > :26:54.and excited for the world champions. So some final tuning? That's exactly

:26:54. > :27:00.what it is. It will come together, I will manage on that.

:27:00. > :27:05.Thank you very much, well done. Thanks, guys.

:27:05. > :27:12.Serita Solomon, another good performance from her.

:27:12. > :27:22.That is not the B standard, she got that in the heats last night. So

:27:22. > :27:22.

:27:22. > :27:25.falling on the generosity of the falling on the generosity of the

:27:25. > :27:30.selectors. That will be on Monday. Next up on the track it is the

:27:30. > :27:36.women's 800m. Really exciting things are happening in this event.

:27:36. > :27:41.Courtesy of a young girl called Jessica Judd.

:27:41. > :27:51.18-year-old Jessica Judd going for Great Britain.

:27:51. > :28:03.

:28:03. > :28:08.she has to get her head down. Jess is going so well here. The crowd are

:28:08. > :28:14.cheering her on. This would abbrilliant victory for the

:28:14. > :28:17.18-year-old. Jess is looking for the line. Will she get there? Yes, she

:28:17. > :28:21.gets there. I don't know how much more

:28:21. > :28:26.enthusiasm you can have as an 18-year-old. Bouncing around on the

:28:26. > :28:34.start line. Raring to go. Jess is there.

:28:34. > :28:39.Around the top bend. Really having a run. Look at young

:28:39. > :28:47.Jess. She is so strong this youngster.

:28:47. > :28:50.Is this going to be another great day for Jessica Judd? Two weeks in a

:28:50. > :28:56.row, what a champion. It is under two minutes.

:28:56. > :29:05.Last year I don't think anyone knew who I was. Now when I get a cheer it

:29:05. > :29:11.is amazing. The distance is running well at the moment.

:29:11. > :29:21.Jess is ready to go in a moment. We had been hoping for a great race

:29:21. > :29:24.

:29:24. > :29:30.in the men's run, but James Dasaolu who ran the great 100m, have both

:29:30. > :29:38.agreed it is best for him not to compete as he has krarp. So despite

:29:38. > :29:44.the 9. 91 clocking, he will not compete in the final today.

:29:44. > :29:54.So that is one head-to-head, but we have one here.

:29:54. > :29:54.

:29:54. > :31:37.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 61 seconds

:31:37. > :31:40.Both have the A standard, Jessica There are two committed front

:31:40. > :31:46.runners. Marl harl marl got it wrong here

:31:46. > :31:52.last year. She had an A standard, faded badly with a poor second lap.

:31:52. > :31:57.Was ignored by the selectors. So what do we have in store today --

:31:57. > :32:03.Marilyn Okoro. Jess Judd loves to be in front. Which will the two watch

:32:03. > :32:10.each other, Paula, what do you reckon? An intriguing race ahead.

:32:10. > :32:14.It is. Definitely different racing styles. Marilyn Okoro is more likely

:32:14. > :32:17.to attack in the first lap. Then pay the price later on, but pretty much

:32:17. > :32:22.it is perfect conditions today. So looking forward to seeing what they

:32:22. > :32:28.can do. They did race last night, so not a

:32:28. > :32:32.lot of recovery. Although neither ran so fast. At the

:32:32. > :32:37.moment Jess Judd is so exciting. Getting better with every race she

:32:37. > :32:42.does. She will go on from here to race in the European Junior tierlts

:32:42. > :32:45.next week. So still a lot to go going into Moscow, but comfortable

:32:45. > :32:50.now attacking the race with the A standard in the bag.

:32:51. > :32:58.This is interesting. Marilyn Okoro has obviously reigned

:32:58. > :33:03.in her tendency. That is a smart move. If this becomes a 500 to 600

:33:03. > :33:13.metres, it did not go too far. Then Jess Judd picked it up.

:33:13. > :33:14.

:33:14. > :33:23.If it was a straight 600 race, mar Marilyn Okoro would go for it, but

:33:23. > :33:28.Jess Judd will make every step for Marilyn Okoro hard. Marilyn Okoro

:33:28. > :33:33.ticks the initiative. That burst of acceleration that she has, that

:33:33. > :33:38.perhaps the young 18-year-old does not have that speed in her legs.

:33:38. > :33:46.This has turned into a 600 metres race. Marilyn Okoro was always going

:33:46. > :33:52.to end the race. Marilyn Okoro streaking away.

:33:52. > :33:59.Jess Judd is fading quickly here. But that is a great run for Marilyn

:34:00. > :34:03.Okoro. Jess Judd for once having to bow, perhaps, to the good tactics

:34:03. > :34:12.from Marilyn Okoro. A really smart move there.

:34:12. > :34:17.She didn't want to do anything in the first 200m. Gambled on Jess Judd

:34:17. > :34:24.going hard. Gambling after the fact that she has

:34:24. > :34:29.had a few earlier races. Jess will have brilliant days to come in the

:34:29. > :34:34.future, but what a clever run for Marilyn Okoro. Very much so. You can

:34:34. > :34:41.say that Marilyn Okoro has learned her lessons from the trials last

:34:41. > :34:48.year. Using Jess to slow her down. Here the final bend and she has

:34:48. > :34:53.unleashed her kick and mo #d away. Explore -- and moved away. Exploring

:34:53. > :35:01.a different race. She is looking stronger down the home strait.

:35:01. > :35:06.Moving away with every stride. Jess is looking a little tired. Maybe

:35:06. > :35:12.with a stressful couple of weeks. She has had good races but also that

:35:12. > :35:15.has taken some energy from her too. This is a contrast to last year.

:35:15. > :35:20.Marilyn Okoro, everything you went through with the selection process.

:35:20. > :35:24.You have taken it from everybody's hands. It has guaranteed your place

:35:24. > :35:33.in Moscow. Hallelujah. I have to thank the Lord

:35:33. > :35:40.it is by his grace I am here. I have had help this year. I know he has

:35:41. > :35:46.put up the angels. It is a year that has been tough. I am so happy to be

:35:46. > :35:52.here, stronger, wiser. I want to thank so many people. My coach,

:35:52. > :35:57.Paul, thank you. He helped me find my injury. A loi -- along with the

:35:57. > :36:01.guys up at the revamp in Newcastle so. Many people. Leah, Donovan, my

:36:02. > :36:06.sight guy. And just my family and friends. I

:36:06. > :36:11.love you all. Above all, God, you are just awesome.

:36:11. > :36:16.You were awesome. Congratulations for make the plane to Moscow.

:36:16. > :36:22.We have Jessicar Judd here as well. Well done to you as well. Among

:36:22. > :36:28.many, Marilyn has book #d her place, I think it is fair to say that you

:36:28. > :36:33.too will be on that plane to Moscow. I hope so. I expect sod much. I felt

:36:33. > :36:38.flat. I was worried after qualification. I did not feel that

:36:38. > :36:46.easy, but I thank the physio, Toby for getting me to the start line. I

:36:46. > :36:52.had a sore calf. Marilyn ran a good race and just walloped me.

:36:52. > :36:56.Well, I am sure you will be heading to World Championships. You will be

:36:56. > :37:02.team-mates. I hope so. I have made so many

:37:02. > :37:08.friends. People have been so nice to me. I just wanted to have a good

:37:08. > :37:11.run. I hope that I can pick up again and get back to winning ways.

:37:11. > :37:16.Quite rightly. All the best for going forward.

:37:16. > :37:21.Thank you very much. Steve Lewis. The second vault. He

:37:21. > :37:28.has been out there a couple of hours.

:37:28. > :37:37.His second attempt. Thankfully he has cleared. He has the A standard.

:37:37. > :37:43.He wins here. He goes to Moscow. Luke Kutts. He has the B standard.

:37:43. > :37:53.He will have to get the A standard if he wants to go to Moscow.

:37:53. > :38:01.

:38:01. > :38:06.So there they go. A good start for receive Lewis -- for Steve Lewis.

:38:06. > :38:16.This is surely one of the highlights of the afternoon. The women's 400m

:38:16. > :38:21.

:38:21. > :38:31.final. It's the first time that the

:38:31. > :38:37.

:38:37. > :38:47.Ohuruogu sisters have run in a championship. There is gem a icol.

:38:47. > :38:47.

:38:47. > :39:45.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 61 seconds

:39:46. > :39:51.-- Gemma Nicol. There is huge competition here. The

:39:51. > :39:56.younger sister of the former Olympic champion, this is Victoria Ohuruogu.

:39:57. > :40:06.She ran a lifetime best this year. A very good time.

:40:07. > :40:22.

:40:22. > :40:31.It was in the United States earlier this year she ran. Finally Kirsten

:40:31. > :40:40.McAslan. I think that Christine Ohuruogu is

:40:40. > :40:50.on a bet from her coach. She should be on the plane to Moscow. He has --

:40:50. > :41:08.

:41:08. > :41:17.to really push it. Margaret Adeoye has Christine in her

:41:17. > :41:22.sights. Watching out for Shana Cox. She is

:41:22. > :41:29.gaining ground on Victoria Ohuruogu. This is a quick run from Christine.

:41:29. > :41:38.Pressing everybody. She is in the lead coming into the home strait.

:41:38. > :41:43.Christine Ohuruogu! Into the home strait. Can she hang on? Shana Cox

:41:43. > :41:53.is closing, but no doubt about the champion. She retains the title.

:41:53. > :41:54.

:41:54. > :42:01.Christine Ohuruogu wins. Then Shana Cox. Margaret Adeoye in

:42:01. > :42:06.third place. I wonder what the wind was like down the back? I bet it was

:42:06. > :42:12.gust ing. But Christine Ohuruogu looking in

:42:12. > :42:22.good shape. Looking set to challenge everybody for a medal in Moscow. It

:42:22. > :42:22.

:42:22. > :42:32.was 37.4. So she owes her coach 100 for that time at 300m. I wonder who

:42:32. > :42:35.will tell her! A good run from Christine. A really strong

:42:35. > :42:42.performance. Some good runs from the other

:42:42. > :42:47.athletes. From Margaret and Shana. This is the

:42:47. > :42:52.part of the race where we sometimes say that Christine does not do

:42:52. > :42:59.enough work, but she pushed it around the bend. Good coming into

:42:59. > :43:03.the final 100m. That is where she has won many of her races. At this

:43:03. > :43:08.point she is maintaining through here.

:43:08. > :43:12.Christine, one thing we always know about her, whatever she is doing in

:43:12. > :43:16.the early part of the season, she will be better at the World

:43:16. > :43:23.Championships. That is always something that all athletes can take

:43:23. > :43:33.a leaf out of Christine Ohuruogu's books, she always produces the best

:43:33. > :43:38.

:43:38. > :43:45.That is so right about Christine getting it right at the big

:43:45. > :43:50.championships and certainly in the domestics. What do you have to say?

:43:50. > :43:54.I always have to remember that even though this is a win, there is a

:43:54. > :43:59.global audience out there. They are criticing the races as much as I am.

:43:59. > :44:05.We have to be critical, not in a negative way but in a way to keep

:44:05. > :44:09.getting better. So on today's race, what are you

:44:09. > :44:15.tweaking and fine tuning between now and Moscow? What are the key

:44:15. > :44:21.elements? I'm not sure. The last 100m is easy, but easier if there is

:44:21. > :44:26.somebody else there. When you are on your own running it is like a

:44:26. > :44:34.no-man's land. You don't know how fast or slow you are going, you are

:44:34. > :44:39.just running. I will have a world with my coach.

:44:40. > :44:44.And a quick word about your sister? It's been great competing with her.

:44:44. > :44:51.Even though she is an athlete, she is also my little sister. I want to

:44:51. > :44:57.see her do well. If she doesn't do do well I get upset. First and

:44:57. > :45:06.foremost, I'm her big sister, just want to look out for her.

:45:06. > :45:12.So, she defended her chip well there. 50. 98 for the winner. Shana

:45:12. > :45:19.Cox came through with a season's best.

:45:19. > :45:26.And Margaret Adeoye, Ah-Ha another lifetime best.

:45:26. > :45:33.And now round five, the quest for the Moscow qualifying distance still

:45:33. > :45:40.continues for Chris Tomlinson. I think that the athletesline

:45:40. > :45:45.frustrated. They have been jumping into a head wind. It is about the 8

:45:45. > :45:50.metres mark, but not far enough. So, no Greg Rutherford here.

:45:50. > :45:55.No Olympic champion. He has an injury problem. There is question

:45:55. > :46:00.mark over his participation in Moscow. A dilemma for the selectors,

:46:00. > :46:09.do they pick Rutherford or go for tomorrow Colinson. They could pick

:46:09. > :46:16.him as a reserve. That standard of 8. 25 metres is

:46:16. > :46:26.very tough indeed. The look on his face says he has not improved. No he

:46:26. > :46:26.

:46:26. > :46:32.has not. Steve Lewis, 5 metres. He has seen

:46:32. > :46:42.Kutts going clear already. And Steve is also clear. He has done

:46:42. > :46:48.it this season. He needed 5765.

:46:49. > :46:58.Another -- he needed 5. 656789 another problem there for the

:46:59. > :47:07.

:47:07. > :47:13.selection. He has a season's Beth. Well, James Dasaolu,

:47:13. > :47:20.congratulations. That was a fantastic personal best.

:47:20. > :47:24.Shame about the final? I didn't want to risk it. With Moscow being the

:47:24. > :47:27.ultimate goal we decided to make a smart move.

:47:27. > :47:33.Everyone decided for the best for you to sit this one out.

:47:33. > :47:36.Let's have a look to see it again. I'm sure you have not had a chance

:47:36. > :47:41.to see it. It is the story of the weekend.

:47:41. > :47:45.James it was nearly flawless, the transition from the blocks, that

:47:45. > :47:49.beautiful flowing action you have got. You must be pleased with that.

:47:49. > :47:55.You think you reacted well. You should have seen this studio.

:47:55. > :48:01.I knew I had done a quick run from the first step. As soon as I got out

:48:01. > :48:06.I knew I had to relax. Once you get to 60, 70 metres. The body is

:48:06. > :48:10.running as quickly as it can. Sometimes that is easier said than

:48:10. > :48:17.done. To relax into it. How much are the conditions today a factor?

:48:17. > :48:22.me, as was so far ahead of the field it was easier to relax.

:48:22. > :48:27.I know you meant that in a modest way. Sorry, I did not mean to come

:48:27. > :48:32.across like that! You were right, you were so far ahead. Looking at

:48:32. > :48:36.the clock, knowing the disappointment when you did not get

:48:36. > :48:42.under the 10-second barrier, how much of a mental shift is that for

:48:42. > :48:47.you? Of course as a printer, you want to go under ten seconds. I am

:48:47. > :48:51.happy to do that. That is a big thing for me. I hope that I can

:48:51. > :48:56.continue to do that, run more sub-tens.

:48:56. > :49:03.How fast can you go? You have to talk to the coach about that I am

:49:03. > :49:11.happy with 9. 11. I want to build on that.

:49:11. > :49:17.Before the final, please tell me you are doing that 200 metres? I have

:49:17. > :49:25.gone under ten seconds. It would be lovely to run the 20, but I think

:49:25. > :49:29.you will have to give me a year or two before I run under #20 20

:49:29. > :49:34.seconds in the 200m. Congratulations.

:49:34. > :49:38.Thank you. It is the hottest day of the year. I am happy to have the

:49:38. > :49:47.time as well. Hottest day of the year, hottest

:49:47. > :49:55.athlete of the year as well. Let's join Steve.

:49:55. > :50:03.The 100m final. More news a silver medal in the men's 400m hurdles,

:50:03. > :50:10.good news for Sebastien Roger, but he ran A standard 49.19. That is

:50:10. > :50:18.well inside the 49.4. So he could be joining Rhys Williams and Dai Greene

:50:18. > :50:25.in the 400m heard 8s. So, this is how the 100m is lining

:50:25. > :50:31.up now without James Dasaolu. Gyms Williams, I know he will be

:50:31. > :50:35.captain of the Leeds University Athletics Club. James has surprised

:50:35. > :50:45.himself and joefsh making it through to the final here.

:50:45. > :50:50.10. 53 is the new personal best. Josh Swaray. He came through as the

:50:50. > :51:00.fastest loser. And then straight to Dwain Chambers.

:51:00. > :51:00.

:51:00. > :52:14.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 61 seconds

:52:14. > :52:22.The firm favourite to win this, to Dwain Chambers has the A standard.

:52:22. > :52:28.Joel Fearon has it, but he was disqualified. . The winner here if

:52:28. > :52:38.you have it is guaranteed. So an opportunity for Dwain Chambers to

:52:38. > :52:58.

:52:58. > :53:02.guarantee this for himself. The Dwain Chambers wins it. Harry

:53:02. > :53:09.Aikines Aryeetey may, may have run himself very close to an A standard

:53:09. > :53:14.in second place, but no doubt in the end about the winner. It was close.

:53:14. > :53:18.Perhaps closer than we would have expected. That will go down as a

:53:18. > :53:23.season's best for Dwain Chambers. He retains the title he won last year.

:53:23. > :53:27.At the age of 35. Still producing the winning performances. It was a

:53:27. > :53:33.good start. Robertson, who has been with him all

:53:33. > :53:36.weekend in the heats, the semi-and this final. Harry was left behind,

:53:36. > :53:43.but Harry Aikines Aryeetey running the best race he has run for a very

:53:43. > :53:51.long time. Look how quick ly finished in second place. Surely he

:53:51. > :53:56.is close to the 10.15 clock-in? Steve, looking at this race, I was

:53:56. > :54:03.really pleased to see Dwain Chambers accelerating at the back end. Still

:54:03. > :54:09.with the thees up high, and full of running.

:54:09. > :54:14.Sometimes when you have had already a great performance, it can get to

:54:14. > :54:19.your brain, but this was a great start by Dwain. He is great out of

:54:19. > :54:26.the blocks. Still relaxed. Looking different from James. He has

:54:27. > :54:31.a different running type, but this is a good victory from Dwain. 36 now

:54:31. > :54:36.and a season's best. Harry Aikines Aryeetey, the news has come through

:54:36. > :54:42.that he has done it. He has booked his place on the plane with a new

:54:42. > :54:46.personal best of 10. 08. He must be pleased. It has been a long time

:54:46. > :54:56.since we have seen him run these types of performances in this type

:54:56. > :55:00.of race. So he is pleased indeed. Well, a season's best for Dwain. You

:55:00. > :55:08.always manage to pull it out when you need it, you have a trip to

:55:08. > :55:14.Moscow? That was the main objective, but for some reason I always perform

:55:14. > :55:19.well. I am really happy with the form.

:55:19. > :55:25.Tell me about the early part of the season. You have gotten to where you

:55:25. > :55:34.are now, did you doubt anything? Well, this is my first injury, I

:55:34. > :55:41.have never been hurt before. So, I am 35 then, now 56. I never took on

:55:41. > :55:49.board how much it you. Row have to take it on board. All credit to

:55:49. > :55:54.James and all credit to Harry. James, can I hug you.

:55:54. > :56:01.Well done. To pull it out when you needed it.

:56:01. > :56:07.Since 2008, the number ten/ten it has been a burden. I see a bus it is

:56:07. > :56:11.a ten/ten. To finally get rid of it. I talked to my dad, he said not to

:56:11. > :56:17.be afraid. I have always seen it as a pedestal.

:56:17. > :56:22.I've been traying with this man. The support I've been getting. I ran 10.

:56:22. > :56:26.04 earlier this year. I thought, how can I get down there. This is sport.

:56:26. > :56:31.I love it. This is sport. You have done it. Thank you very

:56:31. > :56:36.much for sharing it with us. Congratulations to you both.

:56:36. > :56:41.Thank you! Look at this result here. Some great running there.

:56:41. > :56:49.Dwain Chambers with the season's best. Harry delighted with his

:56:49. > :56:57.personal best. Andrew Robertson, a personal best inside the A standard.

:56:57. > :57:03.Lewis-Francis a season's best. And Josh Swaray and even James

:57:03. > :57:08.Williams. Adam went off to the under 23s but

:57:08. > :57:18.the sprinting here, they have all sorts of choice available to them

:57:18. > :57:22.

:57:23. > :57:30.for the selectors, and they have So, Chris Tomlinson's final chance

:57:30. > :57:33.to take the A 8. 25 metres. He is the British champion but to

:57:33. > :57:38.guarantee the selection it is about the jumping.

:57:38. > :57:42.With that distance, you can see it is about eight metres. The athletes

:57:42. > :57:47.will be disappointed with the organisers that they have been

:57:47. > :57:54.jumping into a head-wind. It is making it more difficult to jump the

:57:54. > :58:01.big distances. Chris's first round will prove to be his winning

:58:01. > :58:06.distance. He will have to wait to see what the selectors do.

:58:06. > :58:11.They may go for the Olympic champion, Rutherford but they don't

:58:11. > :58:20.know if he will be fit. Chris tomorrow libson finishing with 7.

:58:20. > :58:29.Showing yet again just how difficult the A standard is in the long jump.

:58:29. > :58:34.Let's reflect on the 100m. The P Bs and the S Bs that litter littered

:58:34. > :58:40.the race show you how amazing athletes are. If we had the

:58:40. > :58:46.conditions like, this how much of a force they would be in the world?

:58:46. > :58:52.This is the advantage of being in the United States. That is where you

:58:52. > :59:00.see the great performances. We don't have that weather all the time, but

:59:00. > :59:05.when we have the conditions, our athletes can perform.

:59:05. > :59:11.And looking at the times, coming here, the A standard is a real

:59:11. > :59:15.possibility? Plus 1. 9 is the perfect conditions. They will look

:59:15. > :59:25.at the results, thinking who can they beat.

:59:25. > :59:26.

:59:26. > :59:35.They could fancy themselves running closer then to the ten-second mark.

:59:35. > :59:45.It has been a great 100m final, in spite of the fact that James Dasaolu

:59:45. > :59:46.

:59:46. > :59:56.did not finish in the final, but he had cramp. He got his P B with 9. 91

:59:56. > :00:06.today. More sport coming up. Rugby league.

:00:06. > :00:30.

:00:30. > :00:35.We mentioned James Dasaolu. We should perhaps relive that 9.11.

:00:35. > :00:39.It was a magical moment. We wanted to see him do that

:00:39. > :00:46.We knew he had the opportunity to do this, but when he exploded, you

:00:46. > :00:51.could see by the timing and the could see by the timing and the

:00:51. > :00:56.rhythm. He is third from the left. He looks relaxed. He sprinted

:00:56. > :01:01.flawlessly. I am excited to see him back-to-back with another good

:01:01. > :01:07.performance and then, of course, when he is in with the big boys

:01:07. > :01:11.mixing with the likes of Tyson Gay. How much more can he run? He can run

:01:11. > :01:16.as much or as little as he wants. Once you are in that groove, there

:01:16. > :01:20.is no real sweat. He can back off for now, do a bit of floating

:01:20. > :01:26.training. Get him to the championships healthy. That is the

:01:26. > :01:32.most important thing and then go head-to-head with the big guys.

:01:32. > :01:40.You hope so. Usain Bolt is booked in, we want to

:01:40. > :01:49.see him up against James. James, could move Usain Bolt off the spot.

:01:49. > :01:53.He has only run 9. 94. So I think that is the performance of the day.

:01:53. > :02:00.Dwain Chambers booking his flight. Having an A standard and a season's

:02:01. > :02:06.best? That was a strong performance from Dwain. He was under a lot of

:02:06. > :02:11.pressure. People were not expecting him to do anything. People thinking

:02:11. > :02:16.that the younger boys could nudge him, but he has shown once he is

:02:16. > :02:20.upright and running, he has a great performance in him.

:02:20. > :02:26.Paula has joined us, why should you have the shade when we are suffering

:02:26. > :02:31.in the sun light. Your performance, where did it come from? I think

:02:31. > :02:36.James Dasaolu's run in the semis, but for me, Marilyn Okoro. Learning

:02:36. > :02:40.to run attack call race well and to finish so strongly. I think she

:02:40. > :02:43.learned she can run a race a different way and to be successful

:02:43. > :02:48.doing so. It was interesting, how she

:02:48. > :02:53.approached this. So differently to two weeks ago in the Diamond League?

:02:53. > :03:03.She learned a lesson it basically cost her a place in the Olympics.

:03:03. > :03:09.

:03:09. > :03:16.She came here determined to do it differently, but she ran strongly.

:03:16. > :03:21.And Jessicar Judd has joined us as well.

:03:21. > :03:29.Jessica looked a little race-weary. It has been a big few weeks for her.

:03:29. > :03:33.Well, it has been a long season for Jess Judd. You think about what her

:03:33. > :03:38.targets were, the English schools, the European k juniors, hoping to

:03:38. > :03:43.maybe get in amongst the mix of the British championships, and you never
