:01:01. > :01:06.will make their way in the 33rd edition of the great North run am

:01:06. > :01:12.with Mo Farah leading the way. The action is on the NewcastleGateshead

:01:12. > :01:15.Quayside. Christine R Nehru go will take centre stage. -- Christine

:01:15. > :01:31.Ohuruogu. COMMENTATOR: The favourite. Olympic

:01:31. > :01:45.defending champion. This is going to be fast. The world champion again.

:01:45. > :01:53.Brilliant, brilliant. Sally Pearson, a new Olympic record. He takes a

:01:54. > :02:05.gold! Rae all he had to do was bring his best form... He came through. He

:02:05. > :02:09.has made it six returns in six, Jonnie Peacock. That is exceptional

:02:09. > :02:14.running. Look at the gap there, easy, easy.

:02:14. > :02:18.More high-class action in the next hour and a half and you get in three

:02:18. > :02:24.days of the World Championships. -- van you get in the next three

:02:24. > :02:50.days of the World Championships. That is today. Then tomorrow it is

:02:50. > :02:56.the Great North Run. 9:30am on BBC One. The greatest distance runners

:02:56. > :03:07.do battle over the 30.1 Newcastle to South Shields run. -- 30.1 miles.

:03:07. > :03:21.COMMENTATOR: We saw history tonight and that is it. She comes to retake

:03:21. > :03:30.the Olympic title, Meseret Defar! He has climbed to victory in his own

:03:30. > :03:35.city on his own turf, David Weir! Bekele defends the title he won

:03:35. > :03:41.macro years ago. He is the Olympic champion and has a new record. The

:03:41. > :03:51.recent Gebrselassie won this race is he does not know how to lose.

:03:51. > :03:57.Beautiful! This is world domination for Farah! He is the world champion.

:03:57. > :04:05.Denise Lewis is alongside me. Just a word on the Great North Run

:04:05. > :04:12.tomorrow. Mouthwatering. It is the stuff of dreams. If you want to

:04:12. > :04:16.think about a line-up coming out of this Great North Run, these are the

:04:16. > :04:22.greatest guys in distance running. The previous champions versus Mo

:04:22. > :04:26.Farah. It is going to be incredible. We will be with Mo Farah

:04:26. > :04:34.a bit later on. This afternoon, Denise, 90 minutes of nonstop

:04:34. > :04:39.action. Yes. A nice, condensed programme we have here but I have to

:04:39. > :04:43.say, it is full of quality and one of the highlights for me is

:04:43. > :04:49.definitely the women's 100 hurdles. You have the reigning Olympic

:04:49. > :04:53.champion. Dawn Harper-Nelson, previous Olympic champion. It will

:04:53. > :04:59.be a really good race. Both these women are branding into really good

:04:59. > :05:08.form for the season. And a very good men's 100m hurdles as well. -- 110m

:05:08. > :05:15.hurdles as well. Yes, David Oliver, current world champion. Denise gets

:05:15. > :05:21.all misty eyed there when she mentions him! I do! Is strong,

:05:21. > :05:28.powerful and quick. And Christian Bovary good goes in the 150m.

:05:28. > :05:31.Thankfully, she got down from the roof where she was doing some

:05:31. > :05:36.promotional work. -- Christine macro.

:05:36. > :05:42.She is laughing, she is enjoying herself. It has been a long season

:05:42. > :05:48.for her, a successful season where she has managed to hit all her

:05:49. > :05:53.targets. All her goals are achieved this year. Particularly breaking

:05:53. > :06:05.targets. All her goals are achieved that long-standing British record.

:06:05. > :06:10.She is with film now. -- Phil Mack. We saw you up on the stage in front

:06:10. > :06:17.of us. How was that? Remark it was a great experience. It was quite

:06:17. > :06:21.sleepy and I was not raring -- sleepy and I was not wearing the

:06:21. > :06:28.correct footwear! You are going to enjoy the day? Yes. It is important

:06:28. > :06:32.to remember we are here so we can showcase our sport and it is great

:06:32. > :06:37.to get people to come and watch and be so close to what we do. It is a

:06:37. > :06:43.great day for everyone. 150m for you. What do you expect? I will

:06:43. > :06:46.finish the race! No, it is a bit of fun. It is not my chosen event but

:06:46. > :06:54.it does not really matter. I can still get something out of it.

:06:54. > :07:00.Looking down the track from here, you see how far 150m is. You do not

:07:00. > :07:05.have any peripheral markers or anything. You have no idea. You just

:07:05. > :07:09.keep running. It is not something I have not done before so I should be

:07:09. > :07:17.all right. We will speak to you later. As you can see, behind

:07:17. > :07:21.Christine, the athletes are out for the 100m hurdles.

:07:21. > :07:29.Let's hear from them first. It is one of the hardest races of the

:07:29. > :07:35.season. In the hurdles you have Dawn Harper and then in the 100 and,

:07:35. > :07:40.Natasha Hastings. But at the same time I am looking forward to it. At

:07:40. > :07:45.this point in the season for me there is no pressure. People will

:07:45. > :07:55.come to compete and at the end of the day it is just for having fun

:07:55. > :07:58.and putting on a good show. I crossed the finish line at the World

:07:58. > :08:04.Championships coming second. But still realising I am the best

:08:04. > :08:09.athlete out here on this track. That race had been annihilated because I

:08:09. > :08:16.had not had the best preparation, but coming second is a huge

:08:16. > :08:21.achievement. I note it -- I knew it was going to be tough. I respect all

:08:21. > :08:28.my competitors. I was pleased to get a good race. This is something

:08:28. > :08:32.completely out of the ordinary that we are not used to but at the same

:08:32. > :08:37.time it gives us the same buzz which we thrive on, really. So hold on to

:08:37. > :08:41.those seats. We are ready to go. It is time to

:08:41. > :08:46.say good afternoon to our commentary team, Paul Dickenson, Paula

:08:46. > :08:51.Radcliffe and first of all, Steve Cram.

:08:51. > :08:58.STEVE CRAM: Good afternoon everybody. We are looking down on

:08:58. > :09:06.the Gateshead side of the River Tyne.

:09:06. > :09:13.A very high quality field. Dawn Harper-Nelson had a cracking year

:09:13. > :09:18.this year but he missed out on a medal. She finished fourth macro in

:09:18. > :09:23.Moscow but bounced back again, winning the Brussels Diamond League

:09:23. > :09:29.just last week. Her best this year is only 12.48. Tiffany Porter. She

:09:29. > :09:33.did so well to win the bronze medal for Britain. A former American. She

:09:33. > :09:41.did so well to win the bronze medal is now very much part of the British

:09:41. > :09:45.team. And much more consistent. Sally Pearson was talking about what

:09:45. > :09:49.a huge achievement de Silva Bedell at the World Championships was after

:09:50. > :09:59.her hamstring injury which held her back for much of the season. -- the

:09:59. > :10:05.silver medal. Okori made the semifinals at the World

:10:05. > :10:11.Championships. A French athlete. Not quite in the class of these three,

:10:11. > :10:14.to be fair. I sort Dawn Harper-Nelson bit Tiffany Porter in

:10:14. > :10:18.the CityGames in Manchester right at the beginning of the season, in May.

:10:18. > :10:23.Sally Pearson was still recovering at that point. Heads home to

:10:23. > :10:28.Australia tomorrow. She was telling me it has been a long, tough year

:10:28. > :10:36.but she wants to finish on a high here. So Harper-Nelson on the far

:10:36. > :10:42.side, then Tiffany Porter, Sally Pearson, the Olympic champion, and

:10:42. > :10:46.Okori of France. The crowd so close to the track here. Thousands have

:10:47. > :10:50.come down to watch. They can get a really good view of some of the

:10:50. > :10:52.world stars of athletics. And they have been very good. They are being

:10:52. > :11:16.silent at the start. Sally Pearson wins it. Porter is

:11:16. > :11:20.second. Very unusually for Dawn Harper-Nelson, she got it all wrong

:11:20. > :11:25.about halfway down on the fifth or sixth flight there, but to be fair,

:11:25. > :11:29.Pearson was already in the lead. The interesting thing more recently has

:11:29. > :11:33.been Sally has not always finished as wealth over the last couple of

:11:33. > :11:36.flight that it would have been interesting if Harper-Nelson was

:11:36. > :11:42.there. That is a new CityGames record. A good start as ever, Sally

:11:42. > :11:45.Pearson out there. Harper Nelson writes beside her. She gets not out

:11:45. > :11:48.of balance on the fourth macro, is writes beside her. She gets not out

:11:48. > :11:52.the fifth, and from then on it is writes beside her. She gets not out

:11:52. > :11:57.only about Pearson. Harper-Nelson did well to stay on her feet.

:11:57. > :12:03.Brilliant technique as ever from Pearson. This season it has really

:12:03. > :12:07.been about the last ten or 15% of the race. Just a little bit of

:12:07. > :12:11.endurance that she has lacked. Her fitness has not allowed her to

:12:11. > :12:14.deliver but I said she wanted to finish on a high and she will be

:12:14. > :12:18.really pleased to have won this race.

:12:18. > :12:27.That is a CityGames record of 12.674 Sally Pearson.

:12:27. > :12:34.The two medallists from the World Championship are alongside me.

:12:34. > :12:41.Sally, a great way for you to end the season. It was really nice to

:12:41. > :12:49.win today. Unfortunately, Dawn hit a few hurdles. I was so pleased to

:12:49. > :12:55.come away with a win in my second last race of the season. We really

:12:55. > :13:00.appreciate putting on the show for you guys, so thank you for coming

:13:01. > :13:06.out. I know you have another race to go so I will let you go and get

:13:06. > :13:09.ready. That is Sally Pearson, the Olympic champion over 100m hurdles.

:13:09. > :13:19.And here is Tiffany Porter, the World Championship runs medallist

:13:19. > :13:23.this year for Great Britain. I love running street races and I love

:13:23. > :13:27.running on British soil. What about the reception you have got today and

:13:27. > :13:32.what you have achieved this year, people's appreciation? Absolutely.

:13:32. > :13:38.We appreciate all the support and could not ask for more.

:13:38. > :13:39.Congratulations on your season. Tiffany Porter, everybody!

:13:39. > :13:48.CHEERING Sally and Tiffany both talking about

:13:48. > :13:54.the crowd. You can see how close we are to the track, how close the

:13:54. > :14:00.spectators. With just four lanes, there is real intensity. There is

:14:00. > :14:04.intensity. It is compact that it gives a new dynamic to athletics and

:14:04. > :14:07.I love these CityGames. I would love to see them rolled out more because

:14:07. > :14:11.I think it gives a greater appreciation of what these athletes

:14:11. > :14:17.go through and seeing it up close and personal is special. Sally was

:14:17. > :14:21.away and it was very close between Dawn Harper and Tiffany. Dawn to

:14:21. > :14:33.dwell to flatter the hurdles and stay up. Yes, what she did through

:14:33. > :14:37.her off Arens and she was lucky to stay an her feet. -- it through her

:14:37. > :14:43.off-balance and she was lucky to stay on her feet.

:14:43. > :14:50.We have come to expect faultless hurdling from Sally Pearson and she

:14:50. > :14:55.was just away. Then Dawn Porter hit that hurdle and she was struggling

:14:55. > :15:00.from then on. And when you lose momentum in hurdles, there is

:15:01. > :15:04.nowhere to go at all, is there? No, once you hit it you are literally

:15:04. > :15:12.thrown off but I have to say, a great end to the season.

:15:12. > :15:24.First, we head over to the mens long jump with Paul Dickenson. You can

:15:24. > :15:40.see the long jump runway there. There are the competitors.

:15:40. > :15:46.Familiar figure here, Chris Tomlinson. He is going in the first

:15:46. > :16:03.round. Long legs. He is the games record holder. If

:16:03. > :16:18.you are aspect eater, you will be amazed at the speed. -- aspect

:16:18. > :16:26.Chris Tomlinson in the first round. He has got some good competitors up

:16:26. > :16:40.against him. Seven metres 72. That is his campaign underway.

:16:40. > :16:58.Now we go to the start of the women's mile. It is a good line-up.

:16:58. > :17:13.Good international representation. Sarah McDonald is having a cracking

:17:13. > :17:17.year. She ran a personal best just recently in Amsterdam. In addition

:17:17. > :17:40.called them there. -- A Lishman great to see Jenny Meadows there.

:17:40. > :17:49.Just say hello to Paula Radcliffe now. I have run a number of road

:17:49. > :17:57.miles. It suited my style. I like to attack it away from the track

:17:57. > :18:11.mentality. Just one an all-out race. The women's mile. A great quality

:18:11. > :18:18.field. Hannah England was one place behind Obiri and there may be some

:18:18. > :18:24.lingering thoughts there. Could she have taken an medal in that

:18:24. > :18:29.championship? She will be looking to finish with a victory here. On the

:18:29. > :18:34.far side, pretty much all the way down the Newcastle side. Then across

:18:34. > :18:40.the bridge. A big sprint towards the finish right in front of us.

:18:40. > :18:45.Charlene Thomas has had a season which has come to fruition in the

:18:45. > :18:52.second half of the year. Yes, she was unfortunately involved in that

:18:52. > :18:59.mix-up at the trials were Laura Weightman hurt herself badly.

:18:59. > :19:05.Charlene Thomas has come back and will be looking to have a good race

:19:05. > :19:12.today. A lot of British pride they are today. They would all like to

:19:12. > :19:21.beat each other and have a good run. Emma Jackson, I really tall figure

:19:21. > :19:31.at the back. This is probably our strongest events in world terms. It

:19:31. > :19:36.is a good event for us. A fairly steady pace there. If you are

:19:36. > :19:41.is a good event for us. A fairly running these races, you do not have

:19:41. > :19:47.the laps of the track to gauge the distance by and to gauge your pace.

:19:47. > :20:03.I think you just have to run it according to feel rather than

:20:03. > :20:05.looking at measurements. It is hard. I think you have to think

:20:05. > :20:07.looking at measurements. It is about it more in terms of total time

:20:07. > :20:14.looking at measurements. It is in your head that you are aiming to

:20:14. > :20:24.be at. And knowing the course little bit of help as well. Jenny Meadows,

:20:24. > :20:29.it is not a distance. The mile will always be a stretch for her. They

:20:29. > :20:33.turned to come onto this swing bridge. The rest very much in the

:20:33. > :20:40.group here. The piece is starting to pick up. Going slightly uphill here.

:20:40. > :20:48.This is where the race starts to get moving. Charlene Thomas still

:20:48. > :21:06.bleeding. Obiri on the outside. -- still leading. Morgan Uceny would

:21:07. > :21:13.like to have a strong run here as well. This is where someone has to

:21:13. > :21:18.make a break. Charlene Thomas has gone early. She has obviously

:21:18. > :21:23.decided that it is where she will go. Zoe Buckman right there. All of

:21:23. > :21:30.a sudden, this group is being broken up quite quickly. Emma Jackson is

:21:30. > :21:50.still there. So is OBD and Morgan Uceny. -- Obiri.

:21:50. > :22:03.Hannah England on the far side. Still lots of running still to do.

:22:03. > :22:08.They are all starting to spread out a little bit. It is a long run for

:22:08. > :22:20.home. They have to judge it well. They have to judge it right. Morgan

:22:20. > :22:29.Uceny, Laura Weightman, Hannah England. Hannah England possibly

:22:29. > :22:46.coming into the top three. Morgan Uceny is going to win this one.

:22:46. > :22:59.The pace was slow early on. I think that is too happy athletes. -- two

:22:59. > :23:03.happy athletes. They have both finished with something pretty

:23:03. > :23:13.positive. Morgan Uceny has been in the UK for much of this year. Laura

:23:13. > :23:20.Weightman, she fell at the trials, but is a good confidence booster for

:23:20. > :23:35.her. Good to run in front of a home crowd as well. That was a good,

:23:35. > :23:42.strong run from her. Hannah England just misjudged her effort a little

:23:42. > :23:47.bit. She was a little bit of it. Morgan Uceny was always in a good

:23:47. > :23:52.position. Road miles are always difficult to judge. You have to be

:23:52. > :24:01.ready for that long run and have your little spurt ready at the right

:24:01. > :24:10.time. I guess she won that battle today.

:24:10. > :24:27.We are going to catch up now with the mens pole vault.

:24:27. > :24:39.Bjorn Otto got things underway. A first-time clearance of five metres

:24:39. > :24:41.30. This German, he won a silver medal just over 12 months ago and

:24:42. > :24:49.30. This German, he won a silver was definitely the man to beat.

:24:49. > :24:58.Then on the run rate was Great Britain's Luke Cutts. He fell the

:24:59. > :25:06.first time. But this was his second attempt. He flew over the bar just

:25:06. > :25:08.over 17 and a half feet in the air. This is an event where the

:25:09. > :25:16.spectators would have been amazed. You get a real close view of how

:25:16. > :25:20.high these guys are going. The spectators are so close to the

:25:20. > :25:29.action. Luke Cutts is in the thick of it and aiming to establish

:25:29. > :25:36.himself as the British number one. Then we were onto five metres 50.

:25:36. > :25:42.Second attempt for Luke Cutts. Again, he flew over. That very

:25:42. > :25:58.definitely put him in the driving seat as far as this poll vault

:25:58. > :26:06.competition was concerned. We look forward to head to heads between him

:26:06. > :26:09.and the record holders. It was a final attempt for Bjorn Otto to stay

:26:09. > :26:14.and the record holders. It was a in the competition. Just over 18

:26:14. > :26:20.feet, but he got the plant all wrong. That meant that Great

:26:20. > :26:28.Britain's look Coetzer defeated the bronze medallist from the World

:26:28. > :26:31.Championships. -- that means Luke Cutts. Alexander Straub was in

:26:31. > :27:10.third. Next, we will a look at the start

:27:10. > :27:12.list for the 150 metres, the sprinters are down there, getting

:27:12. > :27:34.ready for the start. The first time we sold 150 metres

:27:34. > :27:47.inner-city games competition, we saw a time of 14.35 by the one and only

:27:47. > :28:03.Usain Bolt. Michael Rodgers, and very good starter, superb over the

:28:03. > :28:09.shorter distances. Kim Collins, the oldest man in a world to run under

:28:09. > :28:19.ten seconds. This outing should be interesting for him. His leg speed

:28:19. > :28:33.is amazing. Chris Clarke has made a real breakthrough season over 200m.

:28:33. > :28:45.Recently in Brussels he finished in seventh place in the Diamond

:28:46. > :29:07.league. Kim Collins, 37 years old and still going strong. He is a

:29:07. > :29:14.regular visitor to British shorts -- shores.

:29:14. > :29:28.Kim Collins is blasting away, followed by Rodgers. Michael Rodgers

:29:28. > :29:35.is clawing his way back. That is one of the fastest times over. That,

:29:35. > :29:47.unofficially, is the second fastest in history. Sorry, I was looking at

:29:47. > :29:55.the British list there. Rodgers got away slowly, Kim Collins got away

:29:55. > :29:59.brilliantly. Then Rodgers started to claw his way back. He showed his

:29:59. > :30:05.strength. He is normally very good over 60m indoors. But he showed his

:30:05. > :30:11.class there. Just under the 15 second mark. Rodgers and Collins

:30:11. > :30:20.showing the British athletes a clean pair of heels.

:30:20. > :30:29.Kim Collins is an inspiration to us all. He really is. Still such

:30:29. > :30:31.controversy about him not able to compete at the World Championships

:30:31. > :30:34.controversy about him not able to and the Olympics. It is a disgrace,

:30:34. > :30:39.how he has been treated why his federation, but it is lovely to see

:30:39. > :30:45.him here. He is such a popular character. The long jump in a second

:30:45. > :30:48.but first, just a comment on that dispute almost between Greg

:30:48. > :30:54.Rutherford and Chris Tomlinson about the selection for Moscow. Yes, both

:30:54. > :31:07.athletes have the key standards and so it was up to the selectors. Chris

:31:07. > :31:13.is a seasoned competitor and he was fit. So what do you do? You take the

:31:13. > :31:18.Olympic champion who has the ability to raise his game? It is easy to be

:31:18. > :31:22.wise with hindsight when you saw to raise his game? It is easy to be

:31:22. > :31:29.that Greg Rutherford was not 100% fit. Yes, and I am sure that Chris

:31:29. > :31:30.Tomlinson would have been sitting at home fuming because he could have

:31:30. > :31:34.been their fine for medals. COMMENTATOR: Just to clear up the

:31:34. > :31:55.result of that men's 100m. Chris Clarke ended up injured and

:31:55. > :32:00.finished in fourth place. The appearance of Christian Taylor, the

:32:00. > :32:07.Olympic triple jump champion in Newcastle, just over the river from

:32:07. > :32:12.us here, and that was a no-macro-jump for the American, so

:32:12. > :32:23.still Chris Tomlinson in the lead. -- that was a no jump.

:32:23. > :32:31.So here goes Tomlinson once more. Can he make an improvement?

:32:31. > :32:40.Not such a good take-off this time. It looks long, but maybe that is

:32:40. > :32:48.deceptive from the angle of the camera. Tomlinson, 8.18 he has

:32:48. > :32:52.jumped for a city record. That was last season in this event. 7.64. Not

:32:52. > :33:01.jumped for a city record. That was as far as his first round but still

:33:01. > :33:08.two jumps to go. Act on the side of the river, we are ready for the

:33:08. > :33:14.women's 100m. Three athletes taking on Aleen Bailey from Jamaica. They

:33:14. > :33:25.have an opportunity here because the women's 100m hurdles, it is a pretty

:33:26. > :33:30.open race. Big crowds. There are preparations going on for the Great

:33:31. > :33:36.North Run tomorrow. A huge weekend of athletics. We have had all the

:33:36. > :33:43.kit out this morning on the quayside.

:33:43. > :33:51.The temperature has just dropped a little bit. One or two rackets being

:33:52. > :34:00.put on. Thankfully no umbrellas yet. It is not going to rain. -- one or

:34:00. > :34:05.two jackets being put on. Conditions not too bad today. It is a bit

:34:05. > :34:10.cooler to what the athletes have been used to. We had a nice summer

:34:11. > :34:14.in the UK and around the European circuit. Thankfully, the wind has

:34:14. > :34:20.held off today. It has just been a very light breeze that they have

:34:20. > :34:23.been running into. Margaret Adeoye has had personal bests for 200, 400

:34:23. > :34:31.been running into. Margaret Adeoye this year, part of the 4x400 relay

:34:31. > :34:40.team. She whoa a world medal in the World Championships will stop -- she

:34:40. > :34:45.won. Let's pop back to the long jump while the women are getting ready.

:34:45. > :34:50.We are into the third round of this long jump. Nobody has managed to go

:34:50. > :34:53.further than Chris Tomlinson at the moment. One or two athletes having a

:34:53. > :35:11.little problem with the run-up. It looks about the same distance as

:35:11. > :35:18.his second round jump, 7.60 or so, that was. In fact, that first round

:35:18. > :35:24.jump of over 7.70 by Chris Tomlinson is the only valid jump so far. That

:35:24. > :35:29.looks as though it is his second valid jump, so Tomlinson stamping

:35:29. > :35:37.his authority on the competition but no one has jumped over eight metres.

:35:37. > :35:50.All of the athletes have jumped more than that the season, including the

:35:50. > :35:54.UK's JJ Jegede. But Chris, who has been around for a long time, 31

:35:54. > :36:01.years old now, a native of the North East, but now lives in London. 7.83.

:36:02. > :36:08.His best jump so far. I think he is back in the north-east, actually,

:36:08. > :36:12.Paul. I think he has moved back. That long jump continues on the far

:36:12. > :36:19.side. Back here on the Gateshead side, the women just about ready for

:36:19. > :36:30.the 100m. Ashleigh Nelson and Margaret Adeoye are two medallists.

:36:30. > :36:33.Aleen Bailey herself is a former relay medallist for Jamaica. She is

:36:33. > :36:40.32 years of age, not good enough to get in the team these days, even

:36:40. > :36:47.though she can run in less than 11 seconds. They have so many to choose

:36:47. > :36:51.from. And then Margaret Adeoye. She actually won the 100m in the

:36:51. > :36:57.CityGames in Manchester in May. So she is very familiar with this

:36:57. > :37:03.particular surface. Text to her, from Enfield in Harrowgate, Jankel

:37:03. > :37:10.Williams, just 19 years of age. Coached by Christine Ohuruogu's

:37:10. > :37:15.coach. She has got a new personal best in Zurich in the B race a

:37:15. > :37:24.couple of weeks ago. Ashleigh Nelson, what a talent. Still only

:37:25. > :37:35.22. She was the youth bronze medallist back in 2007.

:37:35. > :37:43.As I said, this is a really open race here. It would be difficult to

:37:43. > :37:48.suggest who might win this. Margaret, theoretically, on paper,

:37:48. > :37:55.is slowest. She won the CityGames 100m in May. So Bailey on the far

:37:55. > :37:59.side from Jamaica, Adeoye is in lane two, Bianca Williams, the teenager,

:37:59. > :38:04.in lane three, and Ashleigh Nelson, closest to the camera. Again, the

:38:04. > :38:13.crowd go very quiet. A clean start. Adeoye and Nelson

:38:13. > :38:31.good start. Nelson gets it. Just. From Bailey on

:38:31. > :38:36.the far side. It was a good start from Ashleigh Nelson. Probably had

:38:36. > :38:42.half a metre lead at least around about halfway that the Jamaican on

:38:42. > :38:48.the far side, Aleen Bailey, tried to start to close that time. But Nelson

:38:48. > :38:57.just hung on, not by very much, maybe by a couple of hundredths in

:38:57. > :39:02.the end. Pretty good start. Adeoye got a good start as well. Bailey

:39:02. > :39:09.left a little bit in the blocks. Look at the lead Nelson has got

:39:09. > :39:19.here. Then all of a sudden Bailey comes back into it, but not enough.

:39:19. > :39:26.Nelson is probably having the best year of her senior career. Still

:39:26. > :39:28.just 22 years of age, and surely still capable of running quicker. A

:39:28. > :39:45.good way to end the year. A nice performance there from

:39:46. > :39:51.Ashleigh Nelson and I guess she will have taken so much confidence from

:39:51. > :39:56.coming away from the World Championships with a medal.

:39:56. > :40:00.Absolutely. 2013 has been a good year for her. Picking up that medal

:40:00. > :40:04.is always nice but what I would like to see from her now is just working

:40:04. > :40:08.on that technique a little bit. She sort of kicks her lower leg out a

:40:09. > :40:12.little bit which I do not think it is optimal for sprinting but she is

:40:12. > :40:18.a lovely girl, really talented family as well. Let's talk about the

:40:18. > :40:23.men now. One of the treats this afternoon, Asbel Kiprop, world

:40:23. > :40:27.champion. World champion, and world champion in 2011 as well. His head

:40:27. > :40:33.and shoulders above everyone else. Promises to be a great race. That is

:40:33. > :40:39.and shoulders above everyone else. coming shortly, first the long jump.

:40:39. > :40:46.PAUL DICKENSON: We are still waiting for a real challenger to come up to

:40:46. > :40:53.the mark and to say to Chris Tomlinson, you have not got is all

:40:53. > :41:02.your own way. Has he got it this time? Yes he has! And ironic round

:41:02. > :41:07.of applause from everybody. They are suddenly finding it very difficult.

:41:07. > :41:11.Tomlinson, on the other hand, has had three successful jumps. And that

:41:11. > :41:16.looks round about 7.5 metres all that about, so despite the fact he

:41:16. > :41:19.has a mark on the board, I do not think the man in the foreground

:41:19. > :41:26.there is going to have any problems with the distance. 7.33 for the

:41:27. > :41:32.American. And straight on to the men's mile. Asbel Kiprop is the

:41:32. > :41:37.former Olympic champion, two times world champion. A lot of 800m

:41:37. > :41:50.runners, Rimmer, Osagie. Mukhtar Mohammed may be thinking

:41:50. > :41:53.about moving up to the 1500m. Langford is one of our bright young

:41:53. > :42:04.talents. We have never seen a sub-4-macro

:42:04. > :42:09.minute run on this course, usually because the guys have got off pretty

:42:09. > :42:21.quickly. -- a sub four minute. The World Championships was so

:42:21. > :42:31.brilliant will stop it was a beautiful performance. -- the World

:42:31. > :42:34.Championships were brilliant will stop Kiprop has since then been

:42:34. > :42:38.beaten in the last two races but that does not matter. He was injured

:42:38. > :42:43.last year in the Olympics and not perform at his best. Van Zanten has

:42:43. > :42:51.had an odd year. The world silver medallist from last year. -- Olympic

:42:51. > :42:56.silver medallist. Andrew Osagie says his legs are feeling good this

:42:56. > :43:00.weekend, which is good to know. What ad for Birgen as well, the Kenyan,

:43:00. > :43:05.just on the left of the picture as we look at it. A little bit of

:43:05. > :43:13.wishing and shoving. The way they go. Kiprop is looking for a bit of

:43:13. > :43:17.room, keeping those legs going. It is a bit deceiving because with our

:43:17. > :43:34.camera it looks like they have set off quickly. Paula Radcliffe : I am

:43:35. > :43:40.glad to hear that Andrew Osagie's legs are feeling good as I think

:43:40. > :43:44.this will be a long way for him. He missed a lot of training with the

:43:44. > :43:46.injury. I think he will himself to be placed in Moscow and I think he

:43:46. > :43:50.will find it tough here to stay with be placed in Moscow and I think he

:43:50. > :43:57.the boys over the mile distance. They started pretty quickly. The top

:43:57. > :44:05.1500m men in the field have pulled away already. So you never know.

:44:05. > :44:13.Kiprop bleeding, Birgen alongside him. Then Manzano. Collis Birmingham

:44:13. > :44:18.moving into fourth place. Michael Rimmer not too far away. Yes, I was

:44:18. > :44:22.trying to judge from the way the wind was blowing on the track races

:44:23. > :44:27.but I think they will be running into the wind for a lot of this. If

:44:27. > :44:44.they can maintain this until they come off the bridge with the wind by

:44:44. > :44:49.them, we could see a very fast time. Collis Birmingham, the 5000m Mander,

:44:49. > :44:55.is getting right up and close. Michael Rimmer is looking good.

:44:55. > :44:58.Andrew Osagie a long way back. He is in about a seventh or eighth place

:44:58. > :45:00.at the moment. There is a group of five as they come to take their turn

:45:00. > :45:04.on the swing Bridge. The two five as they come to take their turn

:45:04. > :45:17.Australian athletes have very fast times. sometimes, especially when

:45:17. > :45:23.they go off hard as they have done today, it can put them in better

:45:23. > :45:36.standing. Michael Rimmer is doing well to hang onto that group. Asbel

:45:36. > :45:41.Kiprop bleeding. -- leading. The diminutive American just tucked in

:45:41. > :45:52.that group. Collis Birmingham at the barrier. Michael Rimmer is just

:45:52. > :46:02.behind this group of five. Kiprop cannot afford to let Birgen

:46:02. > :46:07.getaway. They got up that steep hill. It is about how well you can

:46:07. > :46:11.transition from the uphill to the downhill and get a little bit of a

:46:11. > :46:21.jump on the rest of the field as Birgen was able to do there. Not far

:46:21. > :46:26.to go now. About 250 metres. They will be able to see the red track

:46:26. > :46:40.ahead of them. Leo Manzano is trying to follow this closely. 150 metres

:46:40. > :46:51.to go. Garrett Heath, this could be the biggest run of his career.

:46:51. > :46:56.Birmingham has not given up. They still have 50m to go. Leo Manzano

:46:56. > :47:10.trying to get back into it as well. But Gareth -- Garrett Heath wins. If

:47:10. > :47:16.you had looked down the list of starters, the list of the big names,

:47:16. > :47:31.Garrett Heath, although he has been running pretty well, perhaps we

:47:31. > :47:36.should have taken more notice of him because that was a good performance.

:47:36. > :47:41.Paula Radcliffe is going to go down for a bit of a chat. Leo Manzano

:47:41. > :47:55.always has a good strong finish. You must be pleased with that

:47:55. > :48:07.performance. Yes, there were a lot of good guys out there. You get a

:48:07. > :48:11.good crowd here. It was an experience in -- an amazing

:48:11. > :48:12.experience to be able to come. You are something of a specialist when

:48:13. > :48:21.experience to be able to come. You it comes to road racing. I do like

:48:21. > :48:27.to run on the roads. Minnesota has similar temperatures to this, so I

:48:27. > :48:36.like the cold. It is a great crowd as well. How do you gauge a race

:48:36. > :48:37.like that? The other guys to get out really hard and I just wanted to

:48:37. > :48:48.like that? The other guys to get out stay with them. -- took it out. I

:48:48. > :48:52.kept waiting for somebody to come. I was staring at the scoreboard the

:48:52. > :48:59.whole way up the home stretch. It is an amazing feeling. I thought I had

:48:59. > :49:06.it and then I could see those guys right there. I had to dig deep. That

:49:06. > :49:13.was an amazing performance. Thank you.

:49:13. > :49:39.The Americans when the men's and women's one mile.

:49:39. > :50:41.It is a magical day. Mo Farah joins me, he is going to run it. And Paula

:50:41. > :50:49.Radcliffe, you are the cause record-holder? Yes, I am. It is

:50:49. > :51:00.counted as downhill. It is point-to-point. There is not a big

:51:00. > :51:06.drop. It is very steep on to South Shields, and if you come down it too

:51:06. > :51:13.hard, don't do that. Last time I saw your running, it was around Heathrow

:51:13. > :51:21.with your twins. It was chaos at the airport. We were away for a week

:51:22. > :51:32.with the whole family. I really enjoyed it. It was fun. How are you

:51:32. > :51:37.feeling ahead of tomorrow? Obviously, a brilliant summer with

:51:37. > :51:41.double gold. How difficult has it been to turn your focus to this

:51:41. > :51:46.race? Not too difficult because I have always wanted to do it. I

:51:46. > :51:54.promised Brendan Rodgers that I would do it. But I have had a great

:51:54. > :52:01.year. It would be great to finish on a high here. And just enjoy it,

:52:01. > :52:06.really. You promised Brendan that you would do it, but you probably

:52:06. > :52:16.did not realise that they would invite Haile Gebrselassie. Let's

:52:16. > :52:24.hear from him. Mo Farah is different. He is different from when

:52:24. > :52:28.I knew him many years ago. His performance last year and this

:52:28. > :52:51.year, what ever it is, it is the best. We come to Newcastle and the

:52:51. > :52:57.best will win. I think Haile Gebrselassie is a little bit

:52:57. > :53:12.surprised about how well you have progressed. Yes, I remember once he

:53:12. > :53:15.said that it would be hard to beat the African guys. I was dominating

:53:15. > :53:25.in Europe at that time, but this was the next step. I was not quite

:53:25. > :53:39.there. But the last few years, it has been different. In terms of

:53:40. > :53:46.racing against your idol tomorrow, I should imagine it will be a special

:53:46. > :53:50.moment for you. Yes, it is incredible what they have achieved

:53:50. > :54:02.in athletics. I remember watching them in the Sydney Olympics. Then in

:54:02. > :54:10.the Beijing Olympics. The line-up is incredible. For me, to line up

:54:10. > :54:19.against Kenenisa Bekele and Haile Gebrselassie, it is just amazing. We

:54:19. > :54:32.are also excited about the women's race. Nor love lost between the two

:54:32. > :54:41.back big names. -- two big names. No, no love lost, but it is going to

:54:41. > :55:04.be a great race. It will be a tough race. I think Dibaba might have the

:55:04. > :55:14.edge. Now we have the mens IPC T43/T44 100m race.

:55:14. > :55:22.Certainly, these guys, there they are, waiting patiently for the

:55:22. > :55:28.start, this rivalry has gone on for the last 24 months. At the world

:55:28. > :55:32.championship in France, Jonnie Peacock proved he was the man for

:55:32. > :55:37.the big location, retaining his world title. Then in the London

:55:38. > :55:45.anniversary games, both athletes were overshadowed by the

:55:45. > :55:59.controversial Oliveira of Brazil. But Richard Browne sped away. It was

:55:59. > :56:09.a new world record. Jonnie Peacock losing his world record. Ronald

:56:09. > :56:24.Hertog of the Netherlands is an lame one. An excellent all-round athlete.

:56:24. > :56:29.-- is in lane one. The effervescent Richard Browne of the United States.

:56:29. > :56:32.He smashed the world record at the London anniversary games, to the

:56:32. > :56:41.surprise of everybody including himself. One of the faces of London

:56:41. > :56:48.20, Jonnie Peacock. He took Olympic gold and won it's so convincingly.

:56:48. > :56:56.His European record is 10.84 seconds. Finally, David Prince of

:56:56. > :57:08.the United States. Another great all-rounder.

:57:08. > :57:16.Another chance to see this rivalry which has developed a beautifully

:57:16. > :57:20.over the last 24 months. Richard Browne has yet to beat Jonnie

:57:20. > :57:31.Peacock in a major championship final. But he is the man who has run

:57:31. > :57:38.the fastest. Now, if conditions are good, somebody could do something

:57:38. > :58:03.special here. Richard Browne has the world record, 10.75.

:58:03. > :58:15.Slower away than we normally see them. Jonnie Peacock is going very

:58:15. > :58:16.well. He is coming away. 11.09 into a headwind, conditions were against

:58:16. > :58:23.them. Once again, Jonnie Peacock a headwind, conditions were against

:58:23. > :58:34.gets the better of the American. There is a record because Jonnie

:58:34. > :58:39.Peacock has broken the CityGames record of 11.46 which was set at

:58:39. > :58:44.Manchester earlier this season. That was his first race back from a rest

:58:44. > :58:55.and treatment for an injury after the Paralympic final. Once again,

:58:55. > :59:03.Jonnie Peacock takes the major honours. Slower away, but gets back

:59:03. > :59:12.contract, like an arrow straight through the middle. -- back on

:59:12. > :59:29.track. Hopefully, the rivalry will continue for many years to come.

:59:29. > :59:42.Victory for you. World champion. It's fantastic, the Paralympic sport

:59:42. > :59:50.keeps growing. And the crowds are amazing. Every time we come, it is a

:59:50. > :59:55.warm reception so a big thank you to everyone, it means a lot. You get a

:59:55. > :59:59.cheer for every you go, how has life changed for you over the last year?

:59:59. > :00:04.It has not changed too much. I have been busy, but I still have to get

:00:04. > :00:10.up for training. I know that this event means a lot to you, having a

:00:10. > :00:18.Paralympic event within the main event. Yes, Great Britain does it so

:00:18. > :00:26.well, we did it in Manchester and again today. It is fantastic. Thank

:00:26. > :00:33.you. CHEERING

:00:33. > :00:42.Still the third round of this long jump competition.

:00:42. > :00:55.That, I think, will get a white flag. Everybody is watching the man

:00:55. > :00:58.at the side of the pit. He is not the most popular man in the business

:00:58. > :01:03.at the moment because he has given so many red flags, but that looks

:01:03. > :01:08.OK, and he looks as though he could challenge for second place. It is

:01:08. > :01:13.currently held by Christian Taylor. So JJ Jegede the ranked third in the

:01:13. > :01:25.UK. He is in second place! Normally we see Taylor gracing

:01:25. > :01:32.triple jump is all over the world. This time it is long jump. He made

:01:32. > :01:36.sure that time he was way, way behind the take-off board. He just

:01:36. > :01:43.wanted to make sure. I do not think it is particularly long. In fact, it

:01:43. > :01:53.is just over seven metres. So Tomlinson at 7.83, jeopardy at...

:01:53. > :01:57.Surely he can do more than that if he gets it right in the fourth

:01:57. > :02:07.round. It is difficult to adjust from

:02:07. > :02:13.jumping outdoors on an outdoor surface to what is essentially an

:02:13. > :02:19.indoor surface. Yes, it is exactly like an indoor surface. It is raised

:02:19. > :02:25.and quite spring, so do not get the same sort momentum generated. Bit

:02:25. > :02:27.disappointed to see so many fouls in long jumps, but it is the end of the

:02:27. > :02:37.season, it is difficult. But the long jumps, but it is the end of the

:02:37. > :02:41.athletes are enjoying being here. It is incredible. I do think this is

:02:41. > :02:44.something that the athletes really do appreciate. It is so different to

:02:44. > :02:47.regular things. The crowds are very do appreciate. It is so different to

:02:47. > :02:55.close, it is intimate, and the crowds really do get kind. Next

:02:55. > :02:59.Denise's, daily from -- David Oliver. Great to see him win a title

:02:59. > :03:10.in Moscow. Yes, in 2010 he was very consistent.

:03:10. > :03:13.But this year is where it really mattered. He came back, won the

:03:13. > :03:20.World Championships, and it was the icing on the cake. Aries Merritt

:03:20. > :03:24.struggled with injury last year. He has just been to Brussels where he

:03:24. > :03:28.broke the world record. It has not been quite the same season for him.

:03:28. > :03:34.No, it hasn't. It is having to cope with that, being on such a high two

:03:34. > :03:40.struggling to find form and the consistency, knowing that people are

:03:40. > :03:43.going for you because you are the main men. The USA have strong depth

:03:43. > :03:54.in that 110m hurdles. STEVE CRAM: Yes, and that depth is

:03:54. > :04:00.shown here to very good effect. Sharman taking on the best in the

:04:00. > :04:03.world. The world champion, David Oliver. The world champion and

:04:03. > :04:16.Olympic champion, Aries Merritt. I was chatting yesterday to our

:04:16. > :04:23.athlete and he said he was looking forward to the race. He said, well,

:04:23. > :04:30.I could not find a better quality field. It is absolutely right. They

:04:30. > :04:32.are free eyes who have had a great season in their way. -- they are

:04:32. > :04:53.free athletes. Wilson spent much of the year

:04:53. > :04:59.running in a white vest. He did not even have a kit sponsor at the

:04:59. > :05:00.beginning of this season. He is now world silver medallist. David

:05:00. > :05:06.beginning of this season. He is now Oliver, great season for him. He has

:05:06. > :05:15.not broken 13 seconds, though, this year. Next to him, the world

:05:15. > :05:24.record-holder. He looks as though he might be feeling the cold just a

:05:24. > :05:28.little bit. You can understand that. For body armour on for Aries

:05:28. > :05:33.Merritt. And then Sharman, the Belgrave Harrier, with huge

:05:33. > :05:39.opportunity here to pick up some very big scalps. He is the

:05:39. > :05:43.Commonwealth medallist. Of course, the Commonwealth Games next year in

:05:43. > :05:48.Glasgow. He has been unfortunate with injuries in the last couple of

:05:48. > :05:53.years. An event where he has started to build some real strength and

:05:53. > :05:58.depth. So Wilson on the far side, then Oliver, Merritt and Sharman

:05:58. > :06:10.closer to the camera, in the yellow. 110m hurdles. The wind just turned

:06:10. > :06:11.into their faces in the last race, 1.5 metres per second. A breeze into

:06:11. > :06:31.the face. Oh, a little twitch from marriage

:06:31. > :06:46.Matt, may give. -- a little twitch from Merritt, maybe. We will just

:06:46. > :06:53.have another little look at this. Sharman moves first and then he sets

:06:53. > :07:02.merit back off. -- he sets Merritt off. That was not Merritt's fault

:07:02. > :07:08.but he did go. Alan Dell deciding that... He must be in a good mood.

:07:08. > :07:18.The sun is shining a game. That is what it is. No false start crew. --

:07:19. > :07:40.no false start. Borini away this time and a very

:07:40. > :07:46.even break. Wilson overheat the last one but he

:07:46. > :08:10.won. He hung on for the victory. He crashed, as he often does,

:08:10. > :08:18.through the last barrier. He hit it very hard. Athletes with less

:08:18. > :08:24.stature might have gone down there. A pretty even start. Oliver, through

:08:24. > :08:30.the first few hurdles, was better than Merritt. Just watch Wilson on

:08:30. > :08:44.the far side. He starts to get close. 13.37 for the win. Merritt,

:08:44. > :08:54.when he's on good form, is a lovely hurdle. That barrier has come off a

:08:54. > :08:57.plot worse then Oliver, hasn't it? The same first and second as we had

:08:57. > :09:08.in the World Championships in Moscow.

:09:08. > :09:23.David, come on. He is wondering! Congratulations. You clatter one.

:09:23. > :09:30.Oh, yes. It was a tough race. Great competitors. It is fun out here.

:09:31. > :09:35.Tell me what this is like for you, as an American coming to run in the

:09:35. > :09:41.streets or done by the river here. What do you think? It is lovely. I

:09:41. > :09:45.would not mind doing a whole season of this, having a good time out

:09:45. > :09:54.here, interacting with the fans. I am just going to get ready to watch

:09:54. > :10:00.Arsenal play so I am going to go and get ready! You are going to watch

:10:00. > :10:05.them in the stadium? What do you think about the new stadium?

:10:05. > :10:10.Amazing. We are still a striker and defender short but in the January

:10:10. > :10:15.transfer window, hopefully it is going to happen for us. Ladies and

:10:15. > :10:20.gentlemen, well championed David Oliver!

:10:21. > :10:23.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE I love however one is an expert at

:10:23. > :10:29.football. Just like Christine Ohuruogu, James

:10:29. > :10:38.Dasaolu has been on top of that as well. It was brilliant up there this

:10:38. > :10:42.morning. It was a lovely view of Gateshead Newcastle. We were all

:10:42. > :10:47.having fun out there. It has been a good season. I started off indoors,

:10:47. > :10:54.I won my first medal for the country indoors, 60m. I made the World

:10:54. > :10:59.Championship finals. I just want to build on it for next year and more

:10:59. > :11:04.years to come, to go and build more medals for my country. This is the

:11:04. > :11:09.last event of May 2013 season. So I will prop to go away for a month or

:11:09. > :11:16.six weeks and rest my body. I have been competing since January. I will

:11:16. > :11:20.prop the stock back maybe around the end of October, November time. That

:11:20. > :11:26.will be running up hills, dragging sleds, being back in the gym. You

:11:26. > :11:34.know it is all worth it in the end when you run well and win medals for

:11:34. > :11:45.your country. James certainly is some talent. There he is his --

:11:45. > :11:48.there is his opposition for today. Certainly thinking back to that

:11:49. > :11:55.semifinal of the UK Championships 100m when he ran 9.91 seconds. The

:11:55. > :12:06.second fastest time ever by a British athlete. We knew then that

:12:06. > :12:10.this guy had talent in his legs. He was eighth in the final at the World

:12:10. > :12:14.Championships. He did not get the start he wanted and then write his

:12:14. > :12:17.own admittance it was not his best race of the year, but he made the

:12:17. > :12:26.World Championship finals. He now knows what it is like to run against

:12:26. > :12:28.the big men. He ran next to Usain Bolt in the Diamond League. He

:12:28. > :12:37.finished eighth in the bushels Diamond League, too. -- Brussels.

:12:37. > :12:40.Hopefully when his fitness improves we really will have somebody who can

:12:41. > :12:49.go regularly under the ten second mark. Next to him we have Dwain

:12:49. > :12:55.Chambers. Hard to believe it was 15 athletics seasons ago that he made

:12:55. > :12:58.his first World Championship final, 1999. His 35 now. Perhaps running

:12:58. > :13:02.out of time in order to produce his 1999. His 35 now. Perhaps running

:13:02. > :13:08.best performances still. But he is still a big, big competitor. The

:13:08. > :13:13.hurdlers are milking this a little bit, aren't they? I think they are

:13:13. > :13:23.being told there is a race to take place! They do need to try to hurry

:13:23. > :13:27.this on a little bit. The thing about sprinters is that they run

:13:28. > :13:35.fast but when they walk back, they walk but very slowly. There is a

:13:35. > :13:41.brave man going up the 100m they're saying, get off. It is time for the

:13:41. > :13:47.100m runners to go. The American Ryan Bailey is coming back from a

:13:47. > :13:53.bad hamstring injury which he suffered in the Diamond League some

:13:53. > :13:56.months ago. He was finished fifth place in the Olympic final last

:13:56. > :14:08.year, and consistently under ten seconds. 9.88 he ran on a couple of

:14:08. > :14:11.occasions during those Olympics. But he did not run particularly well in

:14:11. > :14:17.the final. He is just on the right-hand side of the screen. Harry

:14:18. > :14:27.achingly knees rete. 25 years old. Former and junior champion. -- Harry

:14:27. > :14:39.Aikines-Aryeetey. He certainly can contest. James Dasaolu had a good

:14:39. > :14:45.season already. Let's hope 2014 will bring him further riches and faster

:14:45. > :14:54.times. Dwain Chambers, 10.04 this year. A useful time. His lifetime

:14:54. > :15:00.best goes way back to 1999, 9.97. There is the figure of Ryan Bailey.

:15:00. > :15:13.Yet to come back to full fitness this season. Last season under ten

:15:13. > :15:19.seconds almost in every race. He has presented the trophy is to the young

:15:19. > :15:20.sprinters before the televised meeting started. Schoolchildren from

:15:20. > :15:39.the North East of England. James Dasaolu, a semifinalist at the

:15:39. > :15:56.Olympics, now a world championship finalist.

:15:56. > :16:11.Dasaolu going well. James Dasaolu was coming away. He gets it, 10.91

:16:11. > :16:20.-- 10.19. Somewhat behind the CityGames record held by Usain Bolt

:16:20. > :16:26.at 9.91, set in Manchester in 2009. James Dasaolu is finishing off his

:16:26. > :16:31.season wonderfully well. He has taken some scalps and that has to be

:16:31. > :16:39.worth something. He stays low for the first 50m. Chambers was going

:16:39. > :16:46.well at this stage. But no doubt about the winner. I have been very

:16:46. > :16:51.impressed indeed with James this season. Sometimes, when it has come

:16:51. > :16:56.to the crunch, to the really big race, he has not managed to produce

:16:56. > :17:08.the goods. But we know we have a good sprint talent on hands -- on

:17:08. > :17:15.our hands. Chambers did hang on for second place. Bailey in third. Let's

:17:15. > :17:28.have a look at the result. Just have a look at the long jump

:17:28. > :17:52.result. Just one more days to go, the womens

:17:52. > :18:52.150m with Christine Ohuruogu fresh from her when in Moscow.

:18:52. > :19:00.10m to go, she was not here. Five metres to go, she was not there.

:19:00. > :19:07.Three metres to go, she was not there. Did she get it?

:19:07. > :19:22.Every I watch that, I wonder if it will be different result! I think

:19:22. > :19:27.people had given up, and I was watching and she came through. As

:19:27. > :19:38.only she can. What a nail-biting finish. It is still fantastic to

:19:38. > :19:42.watch it. People might be asking what she is doing to maintain her

:19:42. > :19:55.strength all the way through? I do not know. There are certain athletes

:19:55. > :19:59.who like to Chilean and her ass -- certain athletes who like to train

:19:59. > :20:13.and her training has been set up around that. They did try to do

:20:13. > :20:19.that. There were some bets on to see how far, how fast she could go

:20:19. > :20:26.through the 200. But I still do not think she has got to where she would

:20:26. > :20:36.like to be. But if it works, why change it? That is the way she runs

:20:36. > :20:37.and everybody knows that. One thing is for sure, she cannot leave it

:20:37. > :21:03.late today, it is only 150 metres. That is the interesting thing about

:21:03. > :21:14.these distances, it is a chance for people to test themselves in

:21:14. > :21:33.unfamiliar territory. Shana Cox, a bronze medallist in the really. Her

:21:33. > :21:44.combined winning time... She has won three gold medals. Natasha Hastings,

:21:44. > :21:48.you best champion this year, finished fifth in Moscow. A silver

:21:48. > :22:07.medal in the really for the American four x 14 -- relay.

:22:07. > :22:12.Sally Pearson may well be the favourite here. She is better warmed

:22:12. > :22:31.up. There are some dark clouds overhead, a bit of a gnome for what

:22:31. > :22:37.is coming tomorrow. -- omen. This is slightly on the short side for

:22:37. > :22:46.Christine Ohuruogu. Sally Pearson. This as the favourite.

:22:46. > :22:55.Shana Cox get a very good start. Sally Pearson moves into the lead.

:22:55. > :23:02.Pearson just pulling away a little bit. Hastings is coming back. She

:23:02. > :23:14.might yet get this. It is tied on the line. Very tight. Pearson is

:23:14. > :23:19.tired after her earlier exploits. Very close on the line. Hastings is

:23:19. > :23:41.not sure. We will need a photograph to settle that. Shane Cox gets a

:23:41. > :23:47.good start. But look at Hastings. Sally Pearson is undoubtedly tired,

:23:47. > :24:01.her second race of the afternoon. I think Pearson just gets that. Photo

:24:01. > :24:17.finish. Sally Pearson by the smallest of margins.

:24:17. > :24:32.Two wins for Sally Pearson. Congratulations. Two races and two

:24:32. > :24:34.wins. That is the longest running and have done all year and I am

:24:34. > :24:42.really tired right now. It feels and have done all year and I am

:24:42. > :24:47.good to finish with a win. Now I can go back home tomorrow and just enjoy

:24:47. > :24:53.my time on the beach. 30 degrees at home when I get there. Just as it

:24:53. > :25:12.loads over here. You have got some work to do because I hear you have a

:25:12. > :25:15.book coming out. Yes, I a book coming out telling about how I

:25:15. > :25:22.became the best hurdler in the world. Well done and good luck at

:25:22. > :25:30.the Common of in Glasgow. Thank you. Christine, what do you make of

:25:30. > :25:39.today? Fantastic. I would like to thank everybody for coming out

:25:39. > :25:44.today. It is fantastic. We are always happy to come back here. I am

:25:44. > :25:52.sure they will want to thank you for a great season, a world championship

:25:52. > :26:00.gold. The most important thing today is to come out and thank the British

:26:01. > :26:07.public for supporting us. It is great that we have such great

:26:07. > :26:12.support. Ladies and gentlemen, a big round of applause and a cheer for

:26:12. > :26:17.Christine Ohuruogu, our world champion.

:26:17. > :26:19.A great atmosphere. She has had a great season. We are just about

:26:19. > :26:49.done. But plenty more sport to come. Lots of action still going on down

:26:49. > :26:57.here. We have got the many runs, the junior great North run. It is all

:26:57. > :27:03.inspirational stuff. Let us inspired you. Inspire you to

:27:03. > :27:10.get your trainers on, to get your heart racing. To prove people

:27:10. > :27:19.wrong, to push as hard as you can. And keep coming back for more. We

:27:19. > :27:25.want to inspire all generations. We want to inspire you and get you

:27:25. > :27:29.inspired. I think we are just about finishing

:27:29. > :27:37.in time because it is looking pretty dark. It has been a great way. Yes,

:27:37. > :27:42.it is such a great event. The athletes are relaxed and they enjoy

:27:43. > :27:48.it. It has been a great season, lots to comment on. In terms of

:27:48. > :27:54.highlights this afternoon, probably Sally Pearson? Incredible. It

:27:54. > :28:00.underlines what an incredible athlete she is. Great speed, a great

:28:00. > :28:07.technician. From a British point of view, Christine Ohuruogu. She has

:28:07. > :28:16.had a fantastic season. She has underlined what kind of a champion

:28:16. > :28:20.she is. We will see you tomorrow for the

:28:20. > :28:32.great North run. We have the best half marathon field ever sampled. Mo

:28:32. > :28:41.Farah, Haile Gebrselassie and bikini. I do not forget Defar

:28:41. > :28:43.against Dibaba. See you tomorrow.
