:00:11. > :00:52.Welcome to Birmingham and the indoor Grand Prix. The National Indoor

:00:53. > :00:57.Arena will be holding the world indoor Championships in 2008 team.

:00:58. > :01:01.The world 's best are here every year. There are Olympic champions,

:01:02. > :01:44.world record holders and a glittering caste of stars here.

:01:45. > :02:07.This is where the drama will unfold. We will cease printing sensations,

:02:08. > :02:13.hurtling greats and for one would-be superstar of the track, the chance

:02:14. > :02:25.of a third world record in just 15 days. Genzebe Dibaba is going to

:02:26. > :02:29.cope with the two mile mark. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has this one

:02:30. > :02:32.meeting to sharpen her competitive edge before the world indoor

:02:33. > :02:41.Championships. David Oliver is the reigning world champion I'd Torres.

:02:42. > :02:49.Greg Rutherford leapt into action for the first time this season, and

:02:50. > :02:59.the only time indoors. We have the best of British tilting at world

:03:00. > :03:12.domination in James Dasaolu. This is the timetable: It would be great to

:03:13. > :03:34.see Jenny Meadows back after two years of injury. Robbie Grabarz is

:03:35. > :03:37.back in action. No wonder it is a sell-out crowd, with all these world

:03:38. > :03:44.medallists here, and Olympic medallists. It is always great to

:03:45. > :03:49.see these people alongside me, help me through this afternoon. You can

:03:50. > :03:58.join in the conversation at home as well via social media.

:03:59. > :04:04.We will hear from Denise Lewis first on Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, the

:04:05. > :04:10.double Olympic champion over 100m. How great it is to have her here

:04:11. > :04:15.again! She has a really big fan base in Birmingham. She has been one of

:04:16. > :04:18.the most dominant forces in the male sprinting and she knows this track

:04:19. > :04:25.is quick. I'm sure she will love to race here. I'm sure she has her eyes

:04:26. > :04:33.on the Commonwealth record. She will want to get underneath that second

:04:34. > :04:37.-- seven second barrier. And this is one meeting before the indoor

:04:38. > :04:46.Championships, the world Championships? Yes, and that she

:04:47. > :04:52.would you she is very confident. Sadly, the Olympic champion over the

:04:53. > :04:58.mirror -- over the hurdles is not here, that's David Oliver is, and

:04:59. > :05:04.that is a great attraction. He is one of the best hurdlers of all

:05:05. > :05:09.time. He has a great chance to run quickly. He will be looking at

:05:10. > :05:12.getting through the heats well. In doors is always a little bit tricky

:05:13. > :05:26.and that small mistake can cost you the race. We also have good domestic

:05:27. > :05:39.opponents. I know Denise, he is one of your favourites, so you will be

:05:40. > :05:52.watching closely! Yes! Just how good is Kim said the day Baba -- NZ 80

:05:53. > :06:00.Genzebe Dibaba? She has the chance to chain her sister. I am pretty

:06:01. > :06:05.confident we are going to see her do it today. We have high hopes of

:06:06. > :06:10.another world record today. Time to get out of the action. The first

:06:11. > :06:12.event is the 60-metre hurdles. We can join our commentary team, first

:06:13. > :06:24.up, Andrew Cotter. The National Indoor Arena always

:06:25. > :06:32.gives such great atmosphere. This 60m hurdles for women's is a

:06:33. > :06:37.straight final. No heats. You have the themes today of victories to be

:06:38. > :06:44.achieved, and potentially a world record. Gemma Bennett, she still has

:06:45. > :06:51.to get the UK standard Time. The cream comes with Tiffany Porter,

:06:52. > :07:03.Kellie Wells and Nadine Hildebrand in liens three, four and five. --

:07:04. > :07:20.liens lanes. There is Rosina Hodde, she is in

:07:21. > :07:31.great form, ran a personal best this season. There is the British

:07:32. > :07:36.record-holder in this event, Tiffany Porter. She got it at the Tron in

:07:37. > :07:43.Glasgow three weeks ago, hit the first hurdle. Kellie Wells of the

:07:44. > :07:49.United States, Ron 's medallist from the Olympic games in London. Perhaps

:07:50. > :07:54.this is the former athlete of the minutes, Nadine Hildebrand of

:07:55. > :08:03.Germany. Quickest in the world so far this year. Aisseta Diawara of

:08:04. > :08:14.France goes on Lindsay. She was third in Belgium last week. There is

:08:15. > :08:19.Gemma Bennett. She won the British indoor championship last week in

:08:20. > :08:26.Sheffield, but she needs to go below it .10 seconds to get into the world

:08:27. > :08:30.Championships. Cindy Roleder, Germany. She has been below the

:08:31. > :08:39.seconds before, but that was a couple of years ago. This is a

:08:40. > :08:44.really high quality field. Near enough 7000 people in here,

:08:45. > :08:47.providing a magical atmosphere, plenty of noise. It is all silence

:08:48. > :09:29.and I. Now. Away cleanly. Tiffany Porter is

:09:30. > :09:36.going well. It was a good run for Tiffany Porter, but we highlighted

:09:37. > :09:40.that Nadine Hildebrand has been in great form this season, and she

:09:41. > :09:47.continues it here. The German aptly describe it in the world so far this

:09:48. > :09:53.year. Another victory to celebrate! Colin Jackson was having a look at

:09:54. > :09:59.that one. We were talking about the starter Tiffany Porter last week in

:10:00. > :10:08.Glasgow hitting the first hurdle. More solid this week. She showed

:10:09. > :10:25.more control. The form at the time of the most consistent all season is

:10:26. > :10:30.Nadine Hildebrand from Germany. I expected Tiffany Porter to really

:10:31. > :10:33.get up there and challenger. I'm sure she will be frustrated that she

:10:34. > :10:39.didn't run off the final hurdle as fast as the German. That is a really

:10:40. > :10:46.solid performance from her, and that is good to see. She is always

:10:47. > :10:51.aggressive up to the first hurdle. She has a personal best of 7.80,

:10:52. > :10:58.sushi is more than capable of winning this type of race. When

:10:59. > :11:03.you're running in doors, it is vital to get into a rhythm. Tiffani just

:11:04. > :11:12.came off that barrier a little bit heavy. Well done, and a good

:11:13. > :11:19.competitive race all around. So, died on the infield with Tiffany

:11:20. > :11:24.Porter. I pleased argue with that? I am happy that I am progressing. I

:11:25. > :11:29.had a bit of a niggle a couple of weeks ago. I'm just glad I got this

:11:30. > :11:33.race out of the way and am looking forward to the next one. So what

:11:34. > :11:40.happens now between this event underworld endorsed? I think I'm

:11:41. > :11:49.going to Prague next, but before that just huge training, try to get

:11:50. > :11:53.my rhythm back. Your event is a technical, so much fine tuning to

:11:54. > :11:58.get it right? That's right, getting into your race rhythm. I am just

:11:59. > :12:02.looking forward to getting of back and looking forward to the next one.

:12:03. > :12:19.Thanks for talking to us. Just to confirm the result. We talk

:12:20. > :12:25.about the standards set at 7.80 seconds.

:12:26. > :12:35.Still, the woman's pole-vault. Holly Bleasdale is the last starter

:12:36. > :12:40.competition. The bar is at 4.46 metres. She is in good shape. She

:12:41. > :12:45.says she is in great shape. She looks good on the approach. That is

:12:46. > :12:49.way clear! The perfect start for Holly Bleasdale. She says she is

:12:50. > :12:55.happier again and she looks really comfortable. A good clearance for

:12:56. > :13:05.the Brits. Certainly a contender for the world indoors.

:13:06. > :13:13.On the opposite side of the indoor arena, the first round of the

:13:14. > :13:19.women's long jump. Here is Sostene Moguenara. She is certainly capable.

:13:20. > :13:44.She looks good on the board. This 24-year-old is in great form.

:13:45. > :13:48.She just have four centimetres to spare on the board, and that should

:13:49. > :13:57.take the lead in these early stages. I am recognition -- recognition this

:13:58. > :14:06.must be about 6.5 metres. There it is, 6.49 metres. Into the lead goes

:14:07. > :14:09.Sostene Moguenara. As ever and knowledgeable and passionate cried

:14:10. > :14:13.at the Birmingham indoor arena. Earlier on, two events for

:14:14. > :14:35.Paralympic athletes. Sophie Hahn is into her running.

:14:36. > :14:45.Margarita Goncharova streaks ahead. A very strong run on the Russian

:14:46. > :14:53.athlete. Confirmation of that result them, a very good win for Margarita

:14:54. > :14:56.Goncharova. A great result for Millie Belbin, only 13 years old,

:14:57. > :15:20.managed to get fourth place. The men's 60 metres. The favourite

:15:21. > :15:26.in lane four, Richard Browne. Browne a long time rival of Britain's

:15:27. > :15:29.Johnny peacock, who has decided to forego the indoor season, because of

:15:30. > :15:44.a minor injury. Browne shows his class and pulls

:15:45. > :15:52.away. Browne wins. 7. 17 seconds. Proving himself a class apart. He

:15:53. > :15:59.was the strong favourite and proved it in the race. He got a moderate

:16:00. > :16:03.getaway, but he pulls away to win and applauds himself as well he

:16:04. > :16:06.might. A superb performance from Richard Browne of the United States.

:16:07. > :16:25.And confirmation of the result. So many highly competitive events

:16:26. > :16:33.here today. None more so than the men's 60 metres, the final coming up

:16:34. > :16:50.at just after 3 o'clock. Before then two heats. This the first of them.

:16:51. > :17:06.It features three athletes, Jimmy Vicault and Michael Rodgers who are

:17:07. > :17:14.close together. In lane 1, Kevin Craddock of the United States. Also

:17:15. > :17:26.here in the 60 metres hurdles heats later on. Ryan Pierre for Britain in

:17:27. > :17:33.lane 2, coached by Linford Christie. And this is the man who beat James

:17:34. > :17:45.Dasaolu to European indoor gold in Gothenberg last year, Jimmy Vicaut

:17:46. > :17:56.of France. A regular visitor to these shores, Mike Rodgers of the

:17:57. > :18:06.United States. Nesta Carter of Jamaica has intentions of going to

:18:07. > :18:10.the world indoor Championships. Richard Kilty, can he take that

:18:11. > :18:14.second place behind James Dasaolu in the British team for the world

:18:15. > :18:22.indoor Championships in Poland in three weeks time? Another promising

:18:23. > :18:46.British athlete, 23-year-old Sean is a foe Antwi -- Safo-Antwi. And on

:18:47. > :18:52.the outside Kemar high man. -- Hyman. A big occasion for Richard

:18:53. > :18:58.Kilty in lane 6. There is one place up for grabs alongside James Dasaolu

:18:59. > :19:03.in the British team at 60 metres for the world indoor Championships with

:19:04. > :19:26.Dwain Chambers to come in the second heat alongside James Dasaolu.

:19:27. > :19:35.Vicaut bursts through in the closing 20 metres to take a decisive

:19:36. > :19:42.victory. 6. 47 seconds for Jimmy vit ought of France. If confirmed that

:19:43. > :19:47.is a lifetime best and quicker than the times he produced to beat

:19:48. > :19:53.Dasaolu in the European Championships last year. #i79 is

:19:54. > :19:57.also -- it is also the fastest time in the world in 2014. Stamping

:19:58. > :20:08.himself as one of the favourites for the final coming up at 3 o'clock

:20:09. > :20:18.this afternoon. He looked very good. It is strange to think Vicaut is

:20:19. > :20:23.still only 21. We will confirm Richard Kilty's time. He is not

:20:24. > :20:35.racing against these men, there are fastest loser times to do through.

:20:36. > :20:43.-- to go through. Sean Safo-Antwi pulled up with a ham string injury.

:20:44. > :20:50.The form athletes producing their form, Jimmy Vicaut coming through to

:20:51. > :20:56.win, 6. 48 seconds, correctly slightly. Equalling his own lifetime

:20:57. > :21:01.best. Rodgers in second, Carter in third and Richard Kilty on the left

:21:02. > :21:09.there comes through into fourth place. Vicaut the winner. Rodgers

:21:10. > :21:14.and Nesta Carter also qualifying for the final. Richard Kilty with a

:21:15. > :21:19.chance of going through as a fastest loser. Putting down a real statement

:21:20. > :21:24.and 6. 48, James Dasaolu is coming out, what will he be thinking. I

:21:25. > :21:29.hope James is focussing on himself and being relaxed. Because he know

:21:30. > :21:34.what is Vicaut can do. Those guys have had some great tussles. But you

:21:35. > :21:44.know what I love about him, he is so relaxed and powerful out of blocks.

:21:45. > :21:50.He just maintains his running. Colin identified that. He is the one to

:21:51. > :21:55.watch for this year. He has always BP -- been Christophe Lemaitre has

:21:56. > :22:00.been the love of the French people and he has taken his time. But now

:22:01. > :22:03.he has announced himself. You remember he just missed the World

:22:04. > :22:07.Championship final last year. But he is a talented guy. So it will be

:22:08. > :22:13.interested to see what he does in that final. Thank you. One man who

:22:14. > :22:17.did make the world Championship final was James Dasaolu. He started

:22:18. > :22:22.to build on it already this year. A great performance in Glasgow. 6.5

:22:23. > :22:32.there. Yesterday I caught up with him this is what he had to say.

:22:33. > :22:39.This is my last meet before the worlds, so it is a big test and you

:22:40. > :22:47.have people like Nesta Carter and Mike Rodgers and my fellow British

:22:48. > :22:52.competitors. It will be a very competitive race. There is nothing

:22:53. > :22:56.more I love than competing on home turf. I'm looking forward to it.

:22:57. > :23:00.Last season was a big learning curve. We made some mistakes, this

:23:01. > :23:06.season is about refining what happened last year and learning from

:23:07. > :23:13.it. I know I'm in good shape. I have run 6. 50 with not the best start.

:23:14. > :23:20.We know that training is going well and keeping the groove. James is

:23:21. > :23:25.talking about everything is going well in training, they're traying to

:23:26. > :23:32.work on mistakes they made last year. What did he do wrong last

:23:33. > :23:37.year? He seemed to do pretty well. Everyone is fussy. You have got to

:23:38. > :23:41.look at tiny things that you could adjust in perhaps your start and

:23:42. > :23:48.your pick up, that will make you a pe tr -- better sprinter. We were

:23:49. > :23:56.talking about fractions in 60 and 100 metre running. A small gain

:23:57. > :24:02.could turn into half a metre at the finish. So you do focus on them.

:24:03. > :24:09.You're never happy. He did carry a couple of injuries last year to his

:24:10. > :24:15.hip, which was hindering him in his start. He was drifting out to the

:24:16. > :24:20.left. If he makes those adjustments and tidies himself up and he is

:24:21. > :24:26.injury free, we could see him go quickly. He Fawlkesed -- talked

:24:27. > :24:30.about the new guard, a new generation and he said he wasn't

:24:31. > :24:35.being disrespectful to Dwain Chambers, saying his time is done.

:24:36. > :24:41.Dwain is style here. But have we got that new guard here the men that

:24:42. > :24:45.will carry us forward? Yes, you have got to look to the next generation.

:24:46. > :24:49.We have had, we have been in the doldrums for so many years and these

:24:50. > :24:54.guys have a real opportunity to do well. I don't think he was being

:24:55. > :25:00.disrespectful with Dwain. Dwain knows he is still in good shape. But

:25:01. > :25:07.he would want sprinting to be moving forward. Let's see how James does

:25:08. > :25:11.and rejoin our commentary team. All sport needs good rivalries and we

:25:12. > :25:20.have that even before we get to the final. We have some real quality.

:25:21. > :25:25.Dasaolu and Chambers going for the three automatic places in the final.

:25:26. > :25:28.Look at the line up and three of three automatic qualifiers and two

:25:29. > :25:43.fastest losers. It is not guaranteed for Dasaolu and Chambers. Lemaitre

:25:44. > :25:53.is there and Collins. On the inside you have Zhang from China. He holds

:25:54. > :25:58.the Chinese record over 100 metres. Oshane Bailey, who does not often

:25:59. > :26:09.run indoors. Very capable as you might expect. Was the 2010 Jamaican

:26:10. > :26:18.champion over 100 metres. And not short of 38, eleven years ago he was

:26:19. > :26:26.the indoor silver medallist in this arena. Listen for the support and

:26:27. > :26:41.the home noise. World class sprinter now, defending his UK record. We

:26:42. > :26:51.talk about the ageing Kim Coll Linnes -- Collins, and Dwain

:26:52. > :26:57.Chambers is not far off that age. Lemaitre is still just 23. He has

:26:58. > :27:04.been around a long time. He won no France a couple of -- he won in

:27:05. > :27:16.France a couple of weeks ago. And Keith Ricks from the United States.

:27:17. > :27:29.On the outside Danny Talbot of Britain. European bronze medallist a

:27:30. > :27:34.few years ago for 200 metres. So Zhang, Collins, Dasaolu, Lemaitre

:27:35. > :28:09.and Talbot. The second semi final. Oh, Dasaolu had a twitch there, but

:28:10. > :28:15.got away with it. Dasaolu storming through. 6. 48. He does finish so

:28:16. > :28:20.strongly. Work on your start he has been told all over the winter. A

:28:21. > :28:27.small from Chambers, but he knows he has to give second best to Dasaolu.

:28:28. > :28:31.Collins in there as well. Those three high quality sprinters coming

:28:32. > :28:40.through. Dasaolu knows he is the number one now. Just look at this

:28:41. > :28:51.one, Mike. On the start. He did twitch in the blocks, but there was

:28:52. > :28:58.a ruling by the world governing body when Usain Bolt falls started.

:28:59. > :29:03.Dasaolu was allowed that leeway. But he was very impressive to take it in

:29:04. > :29:09.the end emphatically from a good race in second between Collins ahead

:29:10. > :29:12.of Dwain Chambers for the three automatic qualifying places. But

:29:13. > :29:17.Dasaolu has been saying that he has got to work on his start. In lesser

:29:18. > :29:22.company this season he has been getting away with it. But for the

:29:23. > :29:31.final at 3 o'clock, he will have to get it right against the likes of

:29:32. > :29:37.Jimmy Vicaut, who we saw win the first heat. And for Richard Kilty,

:29:38. > :29:43.the times coming through, Kilty will be through as one of the fastest

:29:44. > :29:56.losers. So, they are at the three automatic

:29:57. > :30:08.qualifiers and we will confirm that. A personal best for James

:30:09. > :30:17.Dasaolu. I think Keith Ricks will go through to the final later this

:30:18. > :30:24.afternoon. The woman's pole-vault, the bar continues to rise. They are

:30:25. > :30:33.now up to just over the height of a double-decker bus!

:30:34. > :30:43.This looks really good. Just cleared it. The Slovenian goes clear. I

:30:44. > :30:50.think she has a little bit more in the tank. A season best is ten

:30:51. > :30:55.centimetres higher than that. So, Tina Sutej goes into the lead in the

:30:56. > :31:05.pole-vault. Holly Bleasdale is still involved.

:31:06. > :31:22.So, here are the qualifiers for the men's 60m. We will have this

:31:23. > :31:28.showdown. James Dasaolu was the quickest qualifier, very impressive.

:31:29. > :31:34.That was a classic example of anything you can do, I can do

:31:35. > :31:39.better! That was a really strong performance. When he gets out of the

:31:40. > :31:47.blocks it is always good, strong running. Out of the blocks that is

:31:48. > :31:58.that little bit of a twitch. You could see he was left in the blocks

:31:59. > :32:10.there. Underworld clashed -- underworld class, -- competition,

:32:11. > :32:16.that's to be very negative. It is absolutely game on between IIMACRO3

:32:17. > :32:22.and James. I think the is lucky not to have been disqualified. I think

:32:23. > :32:27.that was more -- a more important race, they could have pulled him

:32:28. > :32:35.out. That is strange, because rules are rules, aren't they? There is

:32:36. > :32:39.interpretation! We know that James is on top of his games at the

:32:40. > :32:46.moment. Jenny Meadows is looking to get back on the top powers after two

:32:47. > :32:52.years of injury torment. Jenny, it is great to see you back. You have

:32:53. > :32:58.great memories of this place. This is my favourite meat of the indoor

:32:59. > :33:05.season. It is great to be back and be healthy. This time last year was

:33:06. > :33:10.the first race I did in 18 months. I have only had a handful of races in

:33:11. > :33:20.the 12 months since then. It is so important for me to get a few races

:33:21. > :33:25.in in the indoor season. My brain remembers what I used to do and what

:33:26. > :33:29.I would like to be able to do, but at the same time I have to be

:33:30. > :33:33.realistic and now that I haven't had the consistency in the last couple

:33:34. > :33:37.of years. I know I don't have the speed with the endurance at the

:33:38. > :33:49.moment. I will have to come up with a clever race plan.

:33:50. > :33:56.Jenny Meadows is one of the most popular athletes in the British

:33:57. > :34:01.team. She missed out on the London Olympics, and Moscow and the world

:34:02. > :34:05.Championships last year. She did manage to fit in something of an

:34:06. > :34:08.indoor season last year. From the indoor season she does have a

:34:09. > :34:18.qualifying time for Poland in three weeks. I expect the select as are

:34:19. > :34:23.looking for current form. She has Nataliya Lupu on her right side, and

:34:24. > :34:37.she won the indoor Championships last year.

:34:38. > :34:46.On the inside is Egle Balciunaite of Lithuania. She was a finalist in the

:34:47. > :34:59.2010 indoor Championships. Sanne Verstegen of the Netherlands in the

:35:00. > :35:06.second lien. Lane. Melissa Bishop of Canada, one of the fastest in the

:35:07. > :35:13.field on lifetime form. She was eliminated in the heats in London.

:35:14. > :35:17.Alongside her Angelika Cichocka of Poland. There is Jenny Meadows, the

:35:18. > :35:24.only athlete in the field to have broken two minutes. I huge round of

:35:25. > :35:31.applause, breaking into an ovation here for her. 32 years of age, such

:35:32. > :35:37.solid form indoors throughout the year. European indoor champion in

:35:38. > :35:45.2011. Nataliya Lupu is the reigning indoor champion in Europe. The

:35:46. > :35:50.pacemaker is Yvonne Hak. On her right is Shelayna Oskan-Clarke, he

:35:51. > :35:53.was second at the British trials last weekend. She was outside the

:35:54. > :36:13.qualifying time. Such an important occasion for Jenny

:36:14. > :36:17.Meadows. She is on the comeback trail at 32 years of age. For that

:36:18. > :36:26.the British indoor Championships last week. Three and a half laps of

:36:27. > :36:46.the track. So, the pacemaker, Yvonne Hak is in the lead.

:36:47. > :36:53.Jenny Meadows, go uncomfortably, steadily and third place at this

:36:54. > :36:59.stage. In second is Shelayna Oskan-Clarke. She won her semifinal

:37:00. > :37:04.at the British Championships last week. She was second in the final,

:37:05. > :37:11.but I'd say the qualifying time of two minutes and three seconds.

:37:12. > :37:16.Yvonne Hak those pretty much bang on 59 seconds, which is what you was

:37:17. > :37:33.asked to do. It is great to see Jenny back your racing. -- back here

:37:34. > :37:40.racing. There is a bit of a domestic battle going on with Shelayna

:37:41. > :37:46.Oskan-Clarke. Jenny Meadows driving to try to get the inside on the

:37:47. > :37:57.final bend. She is beaten to it by Shelayna Oskan-Clarke. Nataliya Lupu

:37:58. > :38:02.is through into place. Jenny Meadows goes back to fourth place, the lack

:38:03. > :38:09.of fitness and conditioning is beginning to tell. Nataliya Lupu in

:38:10. > :38:15.second place. Shelayna Oskan-Clarke in third race. That could be very

:38:16. > :38:24.close to the qualifying time for Shelayna Oskan-Clarke. A clear-cut

:38:25. > :38:30.winner, Angelika Cichocka of Poland. A brilliant run by Angelika

:38:31. > :38:38.Cichocka. She got the rest of the field sleeping when she made her

:38:39. > :38:43.break. Unfortunately, Shelayna Oskan-Clarke did not make the

:38:44. > :38:48.qualifying time, but another big personal best for her. You can seek

:38:49. > :38:56.Angelika Cichocka just getting a jump on the rest the field. You can

:38:57. > :38:59.see Nataliya Lupu running right. Jenny Meadows is trying to do

:39:00. > :39:04.everything right to move three and put yourself in a qualifying

:39:05. > :39:14.position, but doesn't have it in her legs. Nataliya Lupu just unable to

:39:15. > :39:28.catch up. A very strong win for Angelika Cichocka. So, Angelika

:39:29. > :39:31.Cichocka managed to produce a fantastic burst of acceleration to

:39:32. > :39:45.win the race. A very impressive winner. Jenny Meadows down in fourth

:39:46. > :39:49.place. She is a track-side. We talked yesterday about this being

:39:50. > :39:55.a long road back and you perhaps don't have the work in your body to

:39:56. > :39:57.deliver the times you want. This has always been a happy hunting ground

:39:58. > :40:02.for me. The crowd are always fantastic. It is nerve wracking

:40:03. > :40:12.being on that line knowing that you have prepared to wait you should

:40:13. > :40:22.have done. As well as the two major injuries, I pulled my calf and also

:40:23. > :40:27.had five weeks with a virus. Me and my coach. Was really important to

:40:28. > :40:30.get some races. It is really hard mentally to do the training and not

:40:31. > :40:35.know where you are, so that will help me with the outdoor season. How

:40:36. > :40:44.did you feel on the track? I didn't enjoy it. I didn't feel fluent. I am

:40:45. > :40:48.training a lot better than that. It just shows, because I have been out

:40:49. > :40:52.of competitive action for so long, it is hard to control those

:40:53. > :40:57.emotions. That was important for me to get out there and just do it.

:40:58. > :41:01.Always great to see you. Welcome back. I'm sure you enjoyed the great

:41:02. > :41:11.reception from the crowd as well. Thank you.

:41:12. > :41:16.Well, a season 's best for Jenny Meadows, but only good enough for

:41:17. > :41:21.fifth place. A lifetime best for Shelayna Oskan-Clarke. Agonisingly,

:41:22. > :41:37.have a second outside the qualifying time for the world indoors. -- half

:41:38. > :41:49.a second secvond. So, Holly Bleasdale. She could

:41:50. > :41:59.really do with going clear on her first attempt. Come on, Holly! Yes!

:42:00. > :42:07.That is a great demonstration of Paul Bolton! Good on the approach.

:42:08. > :42:18.She bent the pole well and eroded over that height of 4.71 metres.

:42:19. > :42:24.Clean, tidy, good on the plant. Daylight over the bar. Certainly

:42:25. > :42:30.more to come from her. This is the second round of the long

:42:31. > :42:41.jump. Amy Harris on home soil, the Birchfield Harriers. 6.12 metres on

:42:42. > :42:53.her first attempt. She looks like the controlled on the approach. It

:42:54. > :43:07.looks a bit better. Six attempts for the long jumpers this afternoon. She

:43:08. > :43:14.is obviously not completely happy. Perfect on the take-off board. It is

:43:15. > :43:19.all about speed of approach and the height on the board. Getting some

:43:20. > :43:30.instruction from her coach. Amy Harris is only 26 years of age. She

:43:31. > :43:40.moves up to second place. So, we move onto the men's metres race. 11

:43:41. > :43:47.contenders in this race, have very strong race. Kenyon and Ethiopian

:43:48. > :43:58.runners, healthy contingent. Among them, Silas Kiplagat, Nixon Kiplima

:43:59. > :44:03.Chepseba. What can Charlie Grice do? He is still in a battle with Chris

:44:04. > :44:16.O'Hare for the second British spots, alongside Lee Amanda will --

:44:17. > :44:31.Immanuel. Reuben Bett is the pacemaker. Silas Kiplagat, silver

:44:32. > :44:39.medal in the world Championships. Nixon Kiplima Chepseba, alongside

:44:40. > :44:57.Robert Biwott. There is Charlie Grice, just 20 years old. Bethwell

:44:58. > :45:00.Birgen, an outstanding athlete. He was actually third in a high-quality

:45:01. > :45:08.race in Stockholm just a few days ago. Marcin Lewandowski, is more of

:45:09. > :45:13.any team hundred metres specialist. Mekonnen Gebremehdin, world indoor

:45:14. > :45:19.bronze-medallist two years ago. Seventh in the last two world

:45:20. > :45:29.Championships. There is Tesfaye Homiyu. Kris Gauson, the Scot.

:45:30. > :45:31.Michael Rimmer, just getting a feel for her injuring tracers, he is

:45:32. > :45:46.normally an 800-metre man. A race that may be dominated by the

:45:47. > :45:51.Africans. But can Charlie Grice lay down a marker ahead of Monday's

:45:52. > :46:05.selection. Away they go. So Reuben Bett will try and take them out. Off

:46:06. > :46:10.he storms and a big gap opens. But Silas Kiplagat tries stay with him.

:46:11. > :46:14.Interesting the tactics from Charlie Grice. You try and stay with these

:46:15. > :46:19.athletes initially or just try and run your race? Charlie needs to run

:46:20. > :46:34.his own race, but he needs to run a strong race. I'm surprised we

:46:35. > :46:40.haven't seen a race off between them. Charlie needs to put down a

:46:41. > :46:46.marker above that. Michael Rimmer, it is interesting to see him racing

:46:47. > :46:50.over the distance. He is known as an 800 metres runner. Does he have the

:46:51. > :47:01.stamina here. He is against Marcin Lewandowski, who is also more known

:47:02. > :47:10.as an 800 metres, but likes to race 1,500 indoors. Kris Gauson already

:47:11. > :47:20.feeling the pace, bringing up the rear. Chepseba has been pushing hard

:47:21. > :47:24.this year in the quickest times in the world. Charlie Grice on the back

:47:25. > :47:30.of that initial pack, which is starting to stretch out a bit. If we

:47:31. > :47:39.look at the times coming through. Charlie will be looking for 1.53.5.

:47:40. > :47:47.And Charlie Grice trying to stay in touch, but against a man who is not

:47:48. > :47:54.here at the moment. They hit 800 metres. A decent job by the pace

:47:55. > :47:58.maker. You can see the field is strung out. I would like to see

:47:59. > :48:05.Charlie move up. He seems to be content to stay on the shoulder of

:48:06. > :48:13.Michael Rimmer. But he needs to look at the gap ahead of him. Three laps

:48:14. > :48:19.to go. Lee Emanuel has already qualified after winning the trials

:48:20. > :48:24.last weekend. In that race as Chris O'Hare beat Charlie Grice, as he did

:48:25. > :48:31.in Glasgow. Charlie Grice has to put down a quick time. Perhaps his youth

:48:32. > :48:35.might get him a selection ahead of Chris O'Hare. Who knows, the

:48:36. > :48:41.selectors occasionally do their own thing. At the front the Kenyans and

:48:42. > :48:48.Ethiopians and the Ethiopian turned German as well. Kiplagat putting the

:48:49. > :48:54.pressure on his fellow Kenyan. Charlie dpries trying -- Grice

:48:55. > :49:00.trying to keep pace as the pace picks up. Charlie Grice is just

:49:01. > :49:11.losing touch with that initial pack. As the bell sounds, chep say be,

:49:12. > :49:20.Birgen. At the moment it is chip say Ba and Birgen given no quarter. A

:49:21. > :49:32.bit of a stutter there. And Marcin Lewandowski is finishing strongly.

:49:33. > :49:39.He can't quite get there. The winnerer is Chepseba. We will try

:49:40. > :49:46.and confirm Charlie Grice's time. But Chepseba took it out 400 or

:49:47. > :49:55.metres or so out and managed to hold on. Very impressed by the finish of

:49:56. > :50:08.Marcin Lewandowski. Marcin Lewandowski is known for his finish,

:50:09. > :50:13.but Chepseba, I think he got there. Birgen tried to move past him. At

:50:14. > :50:16.this stage we don't see Marcin Lewandowski. But he started his kick

:50:17. > :50:23.and he is moving the fastest down the back straight. Just left Marcin

:50:24. > :50:32.Lewandowski too much to do to close the gap on Chepseba. I think he

:50:33. > :50:37.grabbed second place ahead of Marcin Lewandowski. As far as Charlie

:50:38. > :50:42.Grice. He got in just under 3. 40. It is a good run for him. Look out

:50:43. > :50:50.for Marcin Lewandowski, if he can do that in the 1,500, he is in good

:50:51. > :51:08.form. We will have confirmation of the times soon. But a good win for

:51:09. > :51:15.Chepseba of Kenya. Tina Sutej, having Odom nated this - having

:51:16. > :51:21.dominated this event now trails Holly Bleasdale. This is her third

:51:22. > :51:27.and final attempt to match Holly Blees dial dale -- Bleasdale. That

:51:28. > :51:33.looked good, but came down on the bar. Very good support here from the

:51:34. > :51:38.British crowd. The only athlete who remains is Holly Bleasdale. So we

:51:39. > :51:44.know she has the win. Port that ahead of the -- important that ahead

:51:45. > :51:59.of the World Championships. Sutej is one of the contenders though.

:52:00. > :52:09.Schippers in the long jump. A heptathlete you may have seen her

:52:10. > :52:13.take a bronze in the World Championships. Today just doing the

:52:14. > :52:20.one event. And looked flat after what looked quick on the approach.

:52:21. > :52:40.Didn't seem to get the height off the board. It is certainly a decent

:52:41. > :52:46.attempt for the Dutch athlete. So it is Schippers looking to extend that

:52:47. > :52:54.personal best in that first round of 6. 6.28. It may have been beyond

:52:55. > :53:04.that. Moguenara still in the lead. That is another PB for Schippers.

:53:05. > :53:11.That is a superb jump. Another lifetime best. Jimoh, can she

:53:12. > :53:20.respond to that kind of distance and the specialist with a lifetime best

:53:21. > :53:25.of 6.81 two years ago. So capable. Ungainly on the approach. Lifts her

:53:26. > :53:30.head and spots the board well. Looked like a clean jump. But sort

:53:31. > :53:36.of around the same distance. It will be very close. Jimoh from the United

:53:37. > :53:41.States. Travelled a long way to be here at Birmingham. Very good on the

:53:42. > :53:49.board. Look at the height on that, compared to Schippers. But certainly

:53:50. > :53:59.no further. If at all. 7 centimetres to spare. Just waiting for her

:54:00. > :54:07.distance to be confirmed. 6.4 is. -- 6.41. She is in third place. Now the

:54:08. > :54:14.result from the men's 1,500 metres. Chepseba a very good winner ahead of

:54:15. > :54:25.Homiyu and Marcin Lewandowski. A personal best for Charlie Grice.

:54:26. > :54:36.Back to the sprints and the women's 60 metres and Asha Philip flying at

:54:37. > :54:46.the moment. A lifetime best 7.09 last weekend. Second in the world.

:54:47. > :54:57.Bettered only by Murielle Ahoure in 4. In lane one the former world June

:54:58. > :55:10.yon champion over 100 metres outdoor, Jody Williams, now 20 years

:55:11. > :55:20.of age. A strong pedigree for Barbara Pierre. Tahesia Harrigan of

:55:21. > :55:27.the British Virign Islands. Her lifetime best 7.09 now six years

:55:28. > :55:35.old. She is 32. The fastest athlete in the world this year, Murielle

:55:36. > :55:41.Ahoure of Ivory Coast. Last year became the only female athlete to

:55:42. > :55:45.bring 7 seconds in this country. And Asha Philip, she said in Glasgow

:55:46. > :55:51.three weeks apg as far as the world indoor Championships are concerned,

:55:52. > :56:02.it is another holiday. But on this form she may be going home with a

:56:03. > :56:11.medal. Chauntae Bayne in lane 6. In lane 7 a quick shift from the long

:56:12. > :56:20.jump for Daphne Schippers. She is 21 and making improvement at the same

:56:21. > :56:29.pace as Katrina Johnson Thompson and outside from Germany Yasmin Kwadwo.

:56:30. > :56:36.This is the first semi final A terrific crowd as ever here.

:56:37. > :56:46.Regarded across the sport as the best of the indoor meetings and this

:56:47. > :56:51.the women's 60 metres and as in the men's competition, three places at

:56:52. > :56:59.stake here. Automatically in the final just after 4 o'clock and

:57:00. > :57:06.places for two fastest losers. Those are the principles in the world

:57:07. > :57:11.rankings this season. Ahoure No 1 in the world.

:57:12. > :57:21.And a false start. Very difficult to decide who that was. Asha Philip in

:57:22. > :57:29.lane 5, this her toughest task of the season so far. It looks as

:57:30. > :57:34.though it might well be Yasmin Kwadwo. Just outside the allowable

:57:35. > :57:40.limit as she makes her way back to the blocks. Concerned look on her

:57:41. > :57:45.face as if she knows what is coming. The grim reaper with the red card.

:57:46. > :57:50.Our readings at trackside suggest that it was the athlete on the

:57:51. > :57:55.outside. Very difficult to tell with the naked eye. Also in lane 7

:57:56. > :58:10.perhaps problems also for Schippers. We are waiting for confirmation. It

:58:11. > :58:15.is a warning, a yellow card and a green card. Some confusion here. The

:58:16. > :58:20.official walked across the track with a yellow card. He has now been

:58:21. > :58:25.asked to disqualify the athlete in lane 8 for leaving the blocks

:58:26. > :58:31.quicker than the allowable limit. That is what we had on our screen

:58:32. > :58:45.here above the track. Kwadwo has been disqualified for a false start.

:58:46. > :58:53.Disappointment for Kwadwo. They settle into their blocks for a

:58:54. > :59:00.second time. It is a time for strong heads, for 23-year-old Asha Philip

:59:01. > :59:19.to hold on to her nerve. Three places in the final at stake.

:59:20. > :59:30.Ahoure takes the lead from Philip in second. The top two are one and two.

:59:31. > :59:34.7. 10 seconds for Ahoure. She looked as though she had more to come.

:59:35. > :59:39.Perhaps even quicker in the final later, but so too Asha Philip.

:59:40. > :59:57.Contested the lead all the way to the line. But it has gone to

:59:58. > :00:06.Murielle Ahoure. Murielle Ahoure looking really good. Did she leave a

:00:07. > :00:15.little bit in the tank? Asha Philip was definitely coming back to her.

:00:16. > :00:23.Murielle Ahoure has swept all before her indoors. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce

:00:24. > :00:27..com. What about Dafne Schippers? Coming through to take third, even

:00:28. > :00:35.though she is doing the long jump as well. It could be another lifetime

:00:36. > :00:38.best for Dafne Schippers. Last week MPs saw Katarina Johnson Thompson in

:00:39. > :00:43.superb form in the long jump and high jump. Dafne Schippers is

:00:44. > :00:52.improving at lightning speed across the disciplines in the heptathlon.

:00:53. > :01:01.The final will be just after four o'clock.

:01:02. > :01:07.Coming up in the second heat is Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. Three-time

:01:08. > :01:16.gold-medallist at the world Championships in Moscow last year.

:01:17. > :01:21.She is loving life, and it shows. It will be go for Shelly-Ann

:01:22. > :01:27.Fraser-Pryce! It is great to see you back in Birmingham. I'm sure

:01:28. > :01:38.Birmingham holds good memories for you from 2012, when you need most of

:01:39. > :01:41.your reparations. Yes, we have a huge Jamaican criteria in

:01:42. > :01:56.Birmingham, as well. When we are here, we feel at home. I looked so

:01:57. > :02:08.frightened! But it was very nice. To be back is just exciting. I ran in

:02:09. > :02:16.Jamaica a few weeks ago, and I have only done one other 60m this season.

:02:17. > :02:20.I just need to put a solid race together and go forward to the world

:02:21. > :02:28.indoors Championships. Are we likely to see you at the Commonwealth

:02:29. > :02:34.games? Definitely! I have never been. It is something I want to do.

:02:35. > :02:41.I want to have that experience. I also want to do well. I hope it is

:02:42. > :02:50.hot! Glasgow in the summer, no guarantees! I am praying for hot!

:02:51. > :03:02.That she was eternal Ms, hopped in Glasgow in the summer! She did we

:03:03. > :03:07.lucky! As for having her here today, it is a great boost to the meeting.

:03:08. > :03:16.She is a superstar. She has reached that level. She is. As I denied

:03:17. > :03:23.sprinter, she is phenomenal, like nothing we have seen. I think she is

:03:24. > :03:32.getting better and better. How do you motivate yourself after you have

:03:33. > :03:37.won the Olympics, you have one the world Championships? I'd ye keep

:03:38. > :03:42.setting yourself records? She was talking yesterday about making her

:03:43. > :03:46.starts better. She doesn't think she was good enough! I was laughing

:03:47. > :03:53.about that. Every sprinter in the world would love to have her bullets

:03:54. > :04:06.start! She is phenomenal! All athletes are looking for the little

:04:07. > :04:10.increments to make them better. Murielle Ahoure through down the

:04:11. > :04:15.concert in the first race. Let's see how Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce does in

:04:16. > :04:18.the second heat. Looking at the physique of Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce

:04:19. > :04:24.you would think she was suited to running indoors.

:04:25. > :04:29.She says she doesn't have a great start, but it is certainly good

:04:30. > :04:45.enough! She is alongside Ezinne Okparabo. Annabel Lewis was meant to

:04:46. > :04:54.be running in this one, but instead Andrea Bliss takes place.

:04:55. > :04:58.33-year-old. She has finished fourth in the Commonwealth games hurdles

:04:59. > :05:04.before. There is Sophie Papps, one of two British teenagers in this

:05:05. > :05:13.line-up. She was disqualified for a false start in Sheffield last week.

:05:14. > :05:29.There is the Nigerian born Norwegian, Ezinne Okparabo. A

:05:30. > :05:36.delight to see her sprinting here. Twice Olympic champion over 100m.

:05:37. > :05:43.Her fellow countrymen, Carrie Russell. She ran the league leg that

:05:44. > :05:56.won the four x 100 gold in Moscow. A very good starter. There is Dina

:05:57. > :06:01.Asher-Smith. She only 2018 at the end of last year. Montell Douglas,

:06:02. > :06:12.still the UK record-holder over 100m. She rammed that six years ago.

:06:13. > :06:21.A perfect day for her. Aleen Bailey, the oldest in the line-up. 33 years

:06:22. > :06:29.old. She was a really -- a relay gold-medallist and happens, ten

:06:30. > :06:44.years ago. -- in Athens ten years ago.

:06:45. > :06:47.The first three and the two fastest go through to the final, just after

:06:48. > :07:07.four o'clock. Sophie Papps hanging on in there.

:07:08. > :07:16.And very impressive run by Sophie Papps. One of the two British

:07:17. > :07:23.teenagers here. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, a marvellous run. Of

:07:24. > :07:26.course we expected it from her. Sophie Papps has already set a

:07:27. > :07:33.personal best this season. Just 19 years old. The future may be bright

:07:34. > :07:36.for her. The present is very bright for Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. It

:07:37. > :07:43.looks like it will be a good shoot down between her, 58 and Asha Philip

:07:44. > :07:50.in the final. Just doing what she had to do. She moves through safely.

:07:51. > :07:58.And an expression on her face that says, job done. She is unfamiliar

:07:59. > :08:02.with indoor athletics, but you wouldn't know it! Sophie Papps

:08:03. > :08:09.bitter hand-to-hand mind when she made her way back down towards the

:08:10. > :08:22.centre of ours -- the centre of the arena. A lifetime best for Sophie

:08:23. > :08:28.Papps! Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce wasn't all

:08:29. > :08:36.smiles at the end. Is sometimes it is shot to the system, the first

:08:37. > :08:42.indoor race? Yes, it is. And people don't like to show their cards. She

:08:43. > :08:48.was very relaxed, came out of the blocks. She has turned on to that

:08:49. > :08:57.other level that we knew she possesses. It is early for her. We

:08:58. > :08:59.saw Murielle Ahoure win here last year against Shelly-Ann

:09:00. > :09:04.Fraser-Pryce. Is she the kind of person that will want to take some

:09:05. > :09:11.events for that, or does not at all? I think we'll all just be about to

:09:12. > :09:19.London. -- I think it will all be about Poland. Full stop it is good

:09:20. > :09:27.to get a run out here in Birmingham. She loves performing here. I saw her

:09:28. > :09:37.stop and look at the relay of a race and she had a wry smile. We haven't

:09:38. > :09:44.seen the best of her yet. She will only issue was what she needs to she

:09:45. > :09:52.was also the reception she got was phenomenal. Huge! They knew a great

:09:53. > :09:58.athlete when they see one. They have grown with her over the years. The

:09:59. > :10:02.Olympic Jamaican team prepared here. They know the environment, they know

:10:03. > :10:11.the city and they have been very much welcomed. You simple is the

:10:12. > :10:16.main man, the global superstar. She is a superstar in athletics terms,

:10:17. > :10:24.and maybe we should embrace her as that global superstar. She is a

:10:25. > :10:41.superstar, with a lovely personality. She still doesn't have

:10:42. > :10:49.that Jamaican record, which goes right back to Marlene Arty in 1992.

:10:50. > :11:03.More action to come. It is the 3000 metres.

:11:04. > :11:13.So far of the crowd have been treated to some high-quality

:11:14. > :11:16.sprinting, and now we switch back to the distance field. It is a

:11:17. > :11:22.high-quality line-up, featuring men who finished behind Mo Farah in

:11:23. > :11:29.recent global championships. Hagos Gebrhiwet is here, and his

:11:30. > :11:36.compatriot, Dejen Gebremeskel. They fill the runner-up positions behind

:11:37. > :11:48.Mo Farah in the last couple of years. Mo Farah is training in

:11:49. > :11:51.Kenyon at the moment. There is a race within the race for the British

:11:52. > :11:53.athletes attempting to achieve the qualifying standard for the world

:11:54. > :12:17.indoors. We have a couple of pacemakers on

:12:18. > :12:23.the outside. Vincent Rono and Ismael Kombich. Hagos Gebrhiwet, the

:12:24. > :12:28.19-year-old Ethiopian. One of the most relieved youngsters in the

:12:29. > :12:35.world of athletics. The fastest in the world this year at this

:12:36. > :12:51.distance. Yenew Alamirew is another view the European. Here is the man

:12:52. > :12:55.who took the silver medal in London 2012, Dejen Gebremeskel. Mo Farah

:12:56. > :12:59.just managed to hold him off at the Olympics stop Andy Vernon had an

:13:00. > :13:09.impressive run of the British Championships last week. He wants to

:13:10. > :13:12.take a chunk of his lifetime best. He knows he will need that to

:13:13. > :13:24.compete with the best of the Africans. Augustine Kiprono Choge

:13:25. > :13:30.has great form over 5,000m. Isiah Koech of tenure, bronze-medallist in

:13:31. > :13:40.the 5,000m behind Mo Farah in Moscow last year. That is the measure of

:13:41. > :13:56.the quality of this line-up. Lee Immanuel, there. He is on his way to

:13:57. > :13:58.Poland. There is Thomas Farrell. Can Hagos Gebrhiwet get the fastest time

:13:59. > :14:12.in the world this year? 15 laps of the track. This is one of

:14:13. > :14:17.the quality fields of the afternoon. The GPS makers will take them along

:14:18. > :14:26.stop moving in behind them are the two Kenyans, Isiah Koech and perhaps

:14:27. > :14:32.the most consistent performer in the Diamond league over the steeplechase

:14:33. > :14:35.in the last couple of seasons. He says he often struggles at the

:14:36. > :14:46.Kenyan championships because he does not run well at altitude. Isiah

:14:47. > :15:03.Koech, the bronze-medallist from Moscow last year. Moving through is

:15:04. > :15:09.Dejen Gebremeskel. Hagos Gebrhiwet is in fourth place.

:15:10. > :15:16.The pace makers are setting a good pace, but no one seems to be too

:15:17. > :15:24.keen to go with that. As well as seeing who wins, and how fast Vernon

:15:25. > :15:30.can go, the Ethiopians are using this as their trial to pick their

:15:31. > :15:33.team for the world indoor Championships. And can Jonathan

:15:34. > :15:53.Mellor match them. Now then Holly Bleasdale has the bar

:15:54. > :15:59.raised o' to 4.77. It is one centimetre higher than the world

:16:00. > :16:06.lead. Third and final attempt for Holly Bleasdale. She has already won

:16:07. > :16:12.the competition. It is just straining maybe, forcing it as she

:16:13. > :16:18.did on the previous two attempts. And it won't be the world lead for

:16:19. > :16:26.Holly Bleasdale. Leaving a bit of meat on the bone there for the World

:16:27. > :16:42.Championships. But a win for Holly Bleasdale. 4.71.

:16:43. > :16:52.Confirmation of Holly Bleasdale's victory ahead of Tina Sutej and the

:16:53. > :17:08.German athlete. There is confirmation of the final

:17:09. > :17:13.result of the women's long jump. Sostene Moguenara led from gun to

:17:14. > :17:25.tape. That was the first round attempt 6. 49. Schippers with a

:17:26. > :17:30.lifetime best in second place. The crowd enjoying this men's 3,000

:17:31. > :17:34.metres as the field comes around in to the home straight in front of our

:17:35. > :17:39.commentary position and the lap marker showing eight to go. One of

:17:40. > :17:47.the pace markers has departed. The second, Vincent Rono taking them

:17:48. > :17:55.along and Choge is leading. The Commonwealth Games champion at the

:17:56. > :18:07.games in Melbourne eight years ago. Koech is in second place. Just

:18:08. > :18:13.behind him coming into shot is Gebrhiwet from Ethiopia. Just off

:18:14. > :18:18.the back of the leading bunch is Lee Emanuel, buoyed by the confidence of

:18:19. > :18:22.that win over 1,500 at the British trials. He knows he is heading to

:18:23. > :18:29.Poland and the world indoor Championships. He now is the best of

:18:30. > :18:32.the British athletes. Lee Emanuel running a terrific race as they

:18:33. > :18:44.swing into the home straight with six laps to go. It is Choge who

:18:45. > :18:54.leads. Now Gebrhiwet is making a forward move himself towards the

:18:55. > :19:08.shoulder of Koech the taller of the two. Againry mes Kell -- Gebremeskel

:19:09. > :19:18.is there as well. Choge has closed the gap on the pace maker and he

:19:19. > :19:23.will be ahead. Lee Emanuel struggling to stay in contact. But

:19:24. > :19:31.he has had a brilliant race. He has put himself right up there to run a

:19:32. > :19:37.big PB I think. Lee Emanuel now just getting detached from the main

:19:38. > :19:43.bunch. A group of six athletes in contention for the victory. They're

:19:44. > :19:48.led by Choge, whose lead is being shortened by Gebrhiwet, who is

:19:49. > :19:55.running steadily and Choge waves his arms, as if to say somebody else

:19:56. > :20:10.take up the work at the front. I think he may have just stumbled on

:20:11. > :20:25.the curb. -- kerb. The cream rising to the top. This quartet now with a

:20:26. > :20:33.-- Alamirew there as well. Down the back straight. Swinging around

:20:34. > :20:39.towards us. It is three to go and Choge still. In second Gebrhiwet.

:20:40. > :20:52.Waiting to deliver his challenge when he feels ready for it. In third

:20:53. > :20:58.Koech, better known as a steeplechaser. Alamirew brings up

:20:59. > :21:01.the rear. It is between these five. Off the top of the bend in the back

:21:02. > :21:05.straight, round towards the home straight and Choge leading from

:21:06. > :21:09.Gebrhiwet in second. The order unchanged for the last two laps as

:21:10. > :21:16.they swing down and hear the bell. So the surge begins from Gebrhiwet.

:21:17. > :21:21.Can Choge respond? At this stage he can't and Gebrhiwet, like a sprinter

:21:22. > :21:30.goes clear down the back straight. It is a good race for second.

:21:31. > :21:35.Gebrhiwet has the strong advantage into the home straight. The leader

:21:36. > :21:41.in the world rankings justifying his billing. Up to the line now. Just

:21:42. > :21:55.outside his best time of 20. 14. Gebrhiwet wins from Gebremeskel and

:21:56. > :22:04.in sixth is Lee Emanuel. A wonderful run by Gebrhiwet. Much better

:22:05. > :22:08.performance after having learned from the World Championships. He

:22:09. > :22:15.took the silver medal and here at the age of 19 showing maturity

:22:16. > :22:20.beyond his years. He comes around here and Choge decided to give him a

:22:21. > :22:27.push. But he was away and running. He stole a march on the rest of the

:22:28. > :22:33.field. We see Gebremeskel trying to close the gap and finishing faster.

:22:34. > :22:37.But Gebrhiwet had that gap. I think he had learned from maybe the

:22:38. > :22:41.mistakes he made by putting himself in the wrong position with a lap to

:22:42. > :22:48.go in previous Championships. He put that right and probably sealed his

:22:49. > :23:07.selection on the Ethiopian team. Probably with Gebremeskel

:23:08. > :23:14.accompanying him. Lee Emanuel ran a good race. And it is going to get

:23:15. > :23:21.better on the BBC next month. He is having the run of his life! He is

:23:22. > :23:29.away like a jet. Tremendous run by Gatland. He's got it. Jessica Ennis

:23:30. > :23:38.is going to win this race. Very fine finish indeed. David Oliver is the

:23:39. > :23:42.outdoors world champion over 110 metre hurdles, but this week he got

:23:43. > :23:47.into football. He is Arsenal fan and went to watch them play Manchester

:23:48. > :23:56.United. But unfortunately it finished 0-0. But Oliver has some

:23:57. > :24:03.goals this season Athletic letically -- in terms of athletics any way.

:24:04. > :24:08.Who is your greatest rival now? That is always the same. Just myself.

:24:09. > :24:13.Because those barriers are always the same. 42 inches high, 10 yards

:24:14. > :24:17.apart. That is what you have to dominate. Not any particular

:24:18. > :24:21.individual. You went to the Arsenal Manchester United game. How was

:24:22. > :24:26.that? It was amazing. Wish we could have got the points. But as long as

:24:27. > :24:33.you didn't come with a loss and it wasn't because of RVP, it is OK. It

:24:34. > :24:37.amazes me how small the European football players are. But it is

:24:38. > :24:43.cool. Most of them know and follow athletics, so that was a surprise.

:24:44. > :24:51.To win every race. When I put my feet in those blocks and my hand

:24:52. > :24:57.behind the white line, it is like painting, like Picasso, you don't

:24:58. > :25:06.want to put your name by some garbage. I dove that - love that, he

:25:07. > :25:11.doesn't want to sign his a name to garbage. Colin, he is a superstar,

:25:12. > :25:16.but your event has a lot of stars now. Yes, it is a strong event and

:25:17. > :25:27.it has been coming for a long time. From the fact that Li Jang and what

:25:28. > :25:32.he did. The event has grown and grown. There was a stage when we

:25:33. > :25:38.weren't used to seeing athletes going under 13 seconds No was the

:25:39. > :25:43.talent we have, they made it look ordinary. Indoors it another kettle

:25:44. > :25:48.of fish. They know it is difficult to get out of the blocks and to deal

:25:49. > :25:52.with added pressure. I know that he has been training outdoors in

:25:53. > :25:57.Florida, but the bad weather in America has not affected him. This

:25:58. > :26:03.is his first race indoors. How much of a shock to your system is that?

:26:04. > :26:08.It is about getting used to that racing vibe again. We know it is a

:26:09. > :26:12.big struggle for many hurdlers. You're not used to having people

:26:13. > :26:17.around you. That can be frustrating and irritating. But it is a heat and

:26:18. > :26:26.we can get this first race out of his belt and then go for it in the

:26:27. > :26:36.final. We will see how he does. We will go through the runners and

:26:37. > :26:43.riders for this in a moment. First the 3,000 metres result.

:26:44. > :27:00.Lee Emanuel is now up to fifth in the British all time list. So to

:27:01. > :27:09.this high quality first heat which contains gold and bronze medallists

:27:10. > :27:17.from Moscow last year. David Oliver and shoe Ben kov and Kevin Craddock

:27:18. > :27:22.here. Andrew Pozzi may have his work cut out to go through. The first

:27:23. > :27:38.three go through automatically. And the three fastest losers. David King

:27:39. > :27:42.ran well in his last race. He ran a personal best. He will relish the

:27:43. > :27:48.challenge of lining up against this level of field. Quite Thomas was a

:27:49. > :27:55.very good sprinter on the flat earlier in his career and switched

:27:56. > :28:01.to the hurdles. From the United States, Kevin Craddock. He has had a

:28:02. > :28:09.very full indoor season in Europe. A couple of meetings in Germany and

:28:10. > :28:15.then Stoke home and Ghent. Good to see Andrew Pozzi back and running

:28:16. > :28:20.well after last year was scuppered by a foot injury. Only now getting

:28:21. > :28:27.back to his best and nice to see. Alongside him what a star. First

:28:28. > :28:31.appearance of the year. Hadn't planned to do this. But he said his

:28:32. > :28:35.training was going well and he wanted to do an event where he had

:28:36. > :28:44.more than one round and get that feel for the big Championships.

:28:45. > :28:59.Bronze medallist in Moscow. Shubenkov, the Russian record

:29:00. > :29:10.holder. And Baji goes in 7. A man who likes this track. Xie ran well

:29:11. > :29:34.here the last time. He finished third.

:29:35. > :29:46.So, effectively the semifinal of the men's 60m hurdles.

:29:47. > :30:00.Just as the stand-up. The starter not happy with something. In the

:30:01. > :30:06.next leap, we have Pascal Martinot-Lagarde, he is going very

:30:07. > :30:15.well. The British athletes that have their UK standard for Poland 's are

:30:16. > :30:23.Andrew Pozzi, and an athlete that isn't running. So, the early stages

:30:24. > :30:34.of this long jump of addition. Some of the best in the world, including

:30:35. > :30:39.Greg Rutherford. JJ Jegede, I saw him jump over six car is as part of

:30:40. > :30:49.the marketing campaign prior to the Olympic games!

:30:50. > :31:00.That sounds at the bizarre dream you had, Steve!

:31:01. > :31:33.The stadium announcer just saying that anything bigger than 0.1 second

:31:34. > :31:41.reaction time, and you are right. We saw an earlier race where one of the

:31:42. > :31:44.athletes was file in lane hate, I wonder if it is something about that

:31:45. > :31:53.lane -- Eight. Just a green card on this

:31:54. > :32:20.occasion. David Oliver is always trying to

:32:21. > :32:22.slim down a bit. He is naturally just a very vague, broad shouldered

:32:23. > :32:48.fellow. This time they get away. Andrew

:32:49. > :32:56.Pozzi coming through strongly. David Oliver is left down the field! Where

:32:57. > :33:03.was David Oliver? What happened to the world champion? We did mention

:33:04. > :33:09.this earlier, you have to get into the groove of competition. When you

:33:10. > :33:14.do the hurdle race, if you haven't been running at all it is very

:33:15. > :33:21.difficult to arrive here and run flat out. Andrew Pozzi ran well at

:33:22. > :33:27.the trials. Here we go, Greg Rutherford,

:33:28. > :33:35.champion of dealing big games! He was disappointing in 2003rd team.

:33:36. > :33:42.This is his first jump of 2014. Months of training come to today to

:33:43. > :33:48.see what is in his legs. He looks quick on the approach. He messed

:33:49. > :34:07.that up. The red flag is raised. Not great for him. That is rusty, may be

:34:08. > :34:13.just out of sorts. There is a shake of the head by David Oliver. He was

:34:14. > :34:20.left a long way behind the winner, Andrew Pozzi. A great strong

:34:21. > :34:29.performance by Andrew Pozzi. He nailed the first Harry. He came off

:34:30. > :34:33.the first hurdle very strongly. He has left behind is a group of very

:34:34. > :34:40.talented athletes. He will be very happy with this. Let's have a look

:34:41. > :34:50.at David Oliver. What happens to him? He is very rusty. He hasn't

:34:51. > :34:58.done any competitions. He hasn't got the rhythm that we are reduced to

:34:59. > :35:07.seeing from him. -- that we are used to seeing from him. Andrew Pozzi ran

:35:08. > :35:14.really quickly at the trials last week. The love confidence, feeling

:35:15. > :35:17.healthy and he loves this event. David Oliver will go back to the

:35:18. > :35:24.drawing board and prepare himself for the oak door season. David

:35:25. > :35:31.Oliver was saying that his training has been going so, so well. Andrew

:35:32. > :35:37.Pozzi in really good shape, winning that ahead of Sergey Shubenkov and

:35:38. > :35:43.Balazs Baji. It was exciting dying here to witness that performance.

:35:44. > :35:47.I am so delighted for Andrew Pozzi. He had to miss the Olympics, then he

:35:48. > :35:56.had an injury that set him back last year. What a comeback! Fantastic

:35:57. > :35:59.hurdle in. He is obviously confident under training has been going well.

:36:00. > :36:04.It is nice to see when an athlete has weathered the storm and the

:36:05. > :36:12.confidence is high. He just did to get back into competition and just

:36:13. > :36:16.get running again. In contrast, David Oliver, we were talking him

:36:17. > :36:23.up, but this just shows dude there is no competitive edge to speak of.

:36:24. > :36:30.Absolutely. He is probably into hard training, and is not race sharp.

:36:31. > :36:35.They just choose, even the best of the best have to prepare for these

:36:36. > :36:39.competitions. He has taught the one thing to do the world indoor

:36:40. > :36:43.Championships. He has to get through the American trials first, and

:36:44. > :36:51.running like that it would be a tough ask. He is the reigning world

:36:52. > :36:55.champion outdoors. He needs more sharpness in the legs. He looked

:36:56. > :37:02.heavy. We also saw Greg Rutherford in action. Not the best of starts.

:37:03. > :37:08.Ring rustiness for him. Yes, you have got to put it into that, how

:37:09. > :37:13.difficult it is to find your timing if you haven't jump jet. He has said

:37:14. > :37:24.that this is his only indoor competition. Do you needs the marker

:37:25. > :37:27.of an indoor competition as a mark of an indoor competition as a marker

:37:28. > :37:30.for later on? My school of thought is if you haven't prepared for an

:37:31. > :37:41.indoor championship, you shouldn't do it. If you do badly, it will

:37:42. > :37:53.affect due. Time for the second heat of the men 60m hurdles.

:37:54. > :38:04.Well, he would have predicted a European one, two, three in the

:38:05. > :38:17.company of David Oliver? All Europeans in this heat. Andy Turner

:38:18. > :38:24.is on the comeback train. The fastest hurdler in the world this

:38:25. > :38:26.year is Pascal Martinot-Lagarde. He has a time of 7.45 seconds this

:38:27. > :38:41.year. On the inside, Dimitri Bascou goes

:38:42. > :38:51.for France. Three times the French champion. He is 26 years of age.

:38:52. > :38:59.Another Frenchman, Garfield Darien in the second lien. Third in the

:39:00. > :39:11.world rankings so far this reason. Paolo Dal Molin of Italy. Silver in

:39:12. > :39:22.the European indoor Championships. This is the world leader in 2014,

:39:23. > :39:30.Pascal Martinot-Lagarde. The Dutchman, Gregory Sedoc. He won this

:39:31. > :39:37.title at the European indoor Championships in 2007. He is now 32

:39:38. > :39:45.years of age. Andy Turner is a year older than that. Can he recycle some

:39:46. > :39:56.of that's great form from the last year? Another Dutch athlete, Koen

:39:57. > :40:03.Smet is in lane seven. On his best form should struggle to trouble the

:40:04. > :40:10.principles. If the five macro, only 18 years old, born of Nigerian

:40:11. > :40:16.parents in Newcastle. He is making steady progress through the junior

:40:17. > :40:20.ranks. If athletes once again, the second heat in the men 60m hurdles.

:40:21. > :40:26.Once again, the first three will take automatic cases in the final,

:40:27. > :40:32.which will come up at about 3:50pm this afternoon. There are places for

:40:33. > :40:43.two fastest losers, also. Andrew Pozzi had a superb that tree in the

:40:44. > :40:45.first of the heats. Andy Turner will try to find some of his old form.

:40:46. > :41:06.World one is the man to beat. Pascal Martinot-Lagarde got a very

:41:07. > :41:13.slow start. But he gets the quicker acceleration from halfway. Sluggish

:41:14. > :41:15.at the start but did enough to win. Pascal Martinot-Lagarde, the world

:41:16. > :41:23.number one, not too pleased with that. He is due to the final. He has

:41:24. > :41:26.done what he needs to do. He can concentrate on the improvements he

:41:27. > :41:35.needs to make between now and the final. Smack in the middle of the

:41:36. > :41:43.field, all in yellow. He just rests on the blocks. Sometimes it can be

:41:44. > :41:46.hard to focus in the heats. But he just managed to pull himself through

:41:47. > :41:52.the field and take a clear that tree. A good, solid performance. He

:41:53. > :41:59.didn't get out of the blocks as quickly as Gregory Sedoc. Because he

:42:00. > :42:04.is confident, has run a lifetime best this year, been running fast

:42:05. > :42:09.under pressure, he can focus and just chill out, pulling themselves

:42:10. > :42:14.through the field and drive towards the line and take the big tree.

:42:15. > :42:36.-- take the thick tree. -- the Vic sow, Pascal Martinot-Lagarde

:42:37. > :42:45.impressive, Andrew Pozzi even more impressive. Andy Turner who was the

:42:46. > :42:55.guy who was winning medals for us, then a terrible season last season.

:42:56. > :42:59.What I like about him is he is resilient. To be injured as much as

:43:00. > :43:05.he has been and to live with a very bad Achilles tendon, he is still in

:43:06. > :43:10.the game and not quitting. I really admire that. Andy Turner has led the

:43:11. > :43:14.way for a lot of these young hurdlers, to believe that you can go

:43:15. > :43:20.to the world Championships and get medals. I do believe that the

:43:21. > :43:26.strength that he has showed has really inspired the other guys.

:43:27. > :43:32.Three mouthwatering races to come at the end of the day. We have the

:43:33. > :43:39.60-metre hurdles finals. We have the women's 60m final. At the end of the

:43:40. > :43:54.day, hopefully maybe a third world record for temp to in the space of

:43:55. > :44:19.just 15 days! -- for Genzebe Dibaba macro. Colin Jackson is in the

:44:20. > :44:25.commentary box. We can talk with him about the 60m men's finals later on.

:44:26. > :44:35.Jimmy Vicaut produced a fantastic time. We have two European athletes

:44:36. > :44:53.who are leading the world in the sprints. That is very rare. Jimmy

:44:54. > :45:00.Vicaut knows James very well. Jimmy Vicaut stands quite bright, then get

:45:01. > :45:05.into his running quickly. James Dasaolu drives harder and this is a

:45:06. > :45:11.strong finisher. I think this race is going to be about the start.

:45:12. > :45:20.Denise, we knew it would be a big one. It seems like the thing I have

:45:21. > :45:25.noticed about Dasaolu after going under 10 outdoors, he seems to be

:45:26. > :45:29.more confident and expects to deliver. Yes, he knows he can run

:45:30. > :45:34.quick. Now, it is about being consistent in his performances. We

:45:35. > :45:39.said we wanted to see him race more and he is doing that. I think he

:45:40. > :45:43.believes and it is the game to believe that you belong. There is a

:45:44. > :45:47.real sense of belonging that he is one of the best in the world and he

:45:48. > :45:51.knows he has to get in the mix to compete with the likes of Americans

:45:52. > :45:59.and Jamaicans. One thing which only dawned on me in the last few days

:46:00. > :46:09.thinking about him is that pre-the world charp ships -- Championships

:46:10. > :46:14.he was barely to train. That is an indication of what sort of athlete

:46:15. > :46:21.he is. Jes that what is -- yes, that is what can make you a great chomp

:46:22. > :46:28.yon - champion to get in the mix. I believe if he stays injury-free he

:46:29. > :46:39.will be a great athlete. Colin can we have a final word from you before

:46:40. > :46:45.the race? Virmy Vicaut, e-- Jimmy Vicaut what know what he can do. Do

:46:46. > :46:50.we see a different aura around him today? I think James is full of

:46:51. > :46:53.confidence now. Last year it was all new for him to be in such a

:46:54. > :46:57.circumstance. Now he is used to being against the top athletes. I

:46:58. > :47:03.think he Willem brace the situation and work hard to take this victory.

:47:04. > :47:09.So let's watch out. Fireworks and I'm predicting a new world leader.

:47:10. > :47:15.We are looking forward to it and let's rejoin our commentators. What

:47:16. > :47:20.a race in prospect. We have had the strutting and the psychology of the

:47:21. > :47:28.sprinters. Some bounce around. James Dasaolu giving himself a talking to.

:47:29. > :47:34.Others have the thousand-yard stare. What a wonderful race in prospect.

:47:35. > :47:39.Last year at the European indoor Championships, Vicaut and Dasaolu

:47:40. > :47:48.were separated by fractions. But we have Kim Collins and Michael Rodgers

:47:49. > :47:52.and Dwain Chambers and can Richard Kilty push Dwain Chambers for that

:47:53. > :47:58.second British place in Poland? There is Kilty. A very good start in

:47:59. > :48:09.the heats. He had the quickest official reaction time. He could get

:48:10. > :48:17.close to Chambers. The younger man. Again may get the nod for the team.

:48:18. > :48:33.There is Keith Ricks, the slowest of the qualifiers. And a sprint is not

:48:34. > :48:39.complete without this fellow, Kim Collins. The European indoor

:48:40. > :48:48.champion last year, Jimmy Vicaut, still only 21. This may be his only

:48:49. > :48:53.indoor outing of the winter. He and Dasaolu are so evenly matched.

:48:54. > :48:58.Dasaolu almost seems nervous at the start. He did have that twitch in

:48:59. > :49:09.the blocks at the heat. But once he gets going, he is running

:49:10. > :49:15.beautifully. Alongside him the familiar head-banded figure of Mike

:49:16. > :49:23.Rodgers. World indoor silver medallist four years ago. Silver

:49:24. > :49:33.behind this man, Dwain Chambers. Will he get a chance to be in Poland

:49:34. > :49:45.again next month? And completing the line up, Nesta Carter. What a line

:49:46. > :49:51.up this is. He does plan to go to Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games.

:49:52. > :49:59.That line up is getting better and better later this summer. But what a

:50:00. > :50:25.line up here for the final of the men's 60 metres.

:50:26. > :50:32.James Dasaolu roaring for line. Oh, he has injured himself. He wins, but

:50:33. > :50:38.he is clutching his ham string. But what damage has he done to himself?

:50:39. > :50:42.I'm not sure it is too bad, he is still smiling. All things

:50:43. > :50:47.considered, what a win that is. But what damage has been done? We hope

:50:48. > :50:52.it is short-term. What an impressive win. It was a great start from

:50:53. > :50:58.James. There was a great start also by Jimmy Vicaut. I think both pulled

:50:59. > :51:03.up half way through. They both didn't engage the a acceleration. I

:51:04. > :51:10.think they were anxious with their ham strings. Let's look at both of

:51:11. > :51:15.them. They're in the middle. Vicaut explosive out of the blocks. He gets

:51:16. > :51:24.into that upright position quickly. He is already upright and Jimmy is

:51:25. > :51:31.taking the lead. James goes up and gets clean on top of him. Vicaut is

:51:32. > :51:36.pulling back. Now James, before he can get to the real full flow he is

:51:37. > :51:41.also pulling up. Let's see what he says. He is with Phil. Thank you

:51:42. > :51:48.Colin. James he has put some ice on that. Have you pulled the ham

:51:49. > :51:54.string? I pulled my Hammy. You won the race in spite of that. I js

:51:55. > :51:58.pulled my ham string about 14 metres. I need to get some

:51:59. > :52:02.treatment. Go and get some treatment. That is a couple of

:52:03. > :52:08.things to look at there. Dwain Chambers is down in fourth. We kill

:52:09. > :52:13.confirm that. -- we kill confirm that. -- we will confirm that. How

:52:14. > :52:23.much quicker could have he gone if he didn't tweak thatham string. He

:52:24. > :52:27.is getting up and watch, bang, look at his face, he is in pain and he is

:52:28. > :52:31.irritated. He is frustrated. Because he knows he is in good shape and he

:52:32. > :52:38.seems to have blown an opportunity. But it is an injury. He can't help

:52:39. > :52:41.it. Jimmy Vicaut didn't look too comfortable. He was the same. He

:52:42. > :52:47.pulled up earlier than James. I think that xang rated -- exaggerated

:52:48. > :52:51.James pull through and going away from the field. The two we expected

:52:52. > :52:58.to do it ended up injured we think. Well what an interesting race that

:52:59. > :53:08.was. James Dasaolu winning. Limping ahead at the line. Decisions to be

:53:09. > :53:15.made for the team which is named on Tuesday. He said he would go and ice

:53:16. > :53:19.it. He is strapped in there and carted off somewhere. The other

:53:20. > :53:24.question is in rounds where he has been in competitions where he has

:53:25. > :53:29.had rounds to go, he has injuries before. So you hope it is not too

:53:30. > :53:41.bad and he will be fit for Poe lapped next month. -- for Poland

:53:42. > :53:48.next month. The second round of the long jump. This very quick on the

:53:49. > :54:05.approach and that is long. That is long for Li. So what happens if your

:54:06. > :54:11.coach does that? Solid technically and balanced a and poised, quick and

:54:12. > :54:18.agile. Everything you would want to see. Good on the board.

:54:19. > :54:26.Well-disciplined too. Not sure about the arm-warmer. 8. 12. That is a

:54:27. > :54:36.lifetime best and extends his lead. Now Greg Rutherford, rusty in that

:54:37. > :54:47.first round. Lack of competition perhaps showing. He shook his head.

:54:48. > :54:54.Has he made the necessaries to adjust it. I think ehas moved his

:54:55. > :55:01.check mark. This looks better. Yes, it is better. Yeah, that is more

:55:02. > :55:05.like the Olympic champion we have come accustomed to see. He is a

:55:06. > :55:17.great competitor and he has risen once again to the demand of this.

:55:18. > :55:23.Maybe not as far as that lead for the Chinese competitor. Greg just

:55:24. > :55:30.trying to settle in here. Looking for the distance. I'm sure he wants

:55:31. > :55:44.to know. Eight metres. That is his season's best in the second round.

:55:45. > :55:51.He is in second place. The women's 400 metres. Two laps of the track

:55:52. > :56:13.indoors. Featuring two athletes better known as hurdlers. On the

:56:14. > :56:24.inside Yvonne Hak. 27 years of age. Fellow Dutch athlete in lane 2.

:56:25. > :56:33.Ghafoor. And then Eilidh Child. Fifth in the 400 metres hurdles in

:56:34. > :56:38.the World Championships last year. And looking for improvement here to

:56:39. > :56:50.press her claims for a place in the relay squad at the world indoors.

:56:51. > :56:58.And Margaret Aboeye. Another 4 hundred metre hurdler. Kaliese

:56:59. > :57:08.Spencer says she wants to do more racing over the flat. Her plan is go

:57:09. > :57:22.to the world indoor Championships. And Reggina George. Eilidh Child

:57:23. > :57:26.clocked 51. 50 at this meeting last year. Just outside her lifetime

:57:27. > :57:36.best. There has been about a second and a half outside that so far this

:57:37. > :57:53.season. Child in three. Aboeye outside her in 4. Aboeye in lane 4,

:57:54. > :57:57.they will run the first lap or thereabouts in lanes and then

:57:58. > :58:01.they're allowed to swerve towards the inside and that all important

:58:02. > :58:07.position at the bell. It is the athletes on the the outside,

:58:08. > :58:12.Spencer, who has an emphatic advantage as they take the bell,

:58:13. > :58:17.from George in second. Child is in third. A lap to go. On to the back

:58:18. > :58:22.straight for the final time. Spencer, who went off quickly over

:58:23. > :58:32.the first 250 metres and now seems to be shortening the stride. George

:58:33. > :58:37.in second place. In to the home straight, and George has timed it

:58:38. > :58:48.better. Second in Glasgow. She wins here from in second Spencer, Child

:58:49. > :58:54.is third. The winning time 51.78 seconds for George of Nigeria. Me

:58:55. > :59:02.timed it beautifully. Spencer led for the best part of 350 metres. But

:59:03. > :59:10.George collared her and swept by in the home straight. It was a

:59:11. > :59:15.well-timed race from Eilidh Child race. In Glasgow she looked a bit

:59:16. > :59:20.off the pace. But she paced this well enoughn't and -- enough and

:59:21. > :59:26.there will be some satisfaction for Eilidh in managing to win that

:59:27. > :59:29.little battle there as her times are being confirmed. There was no

:59:30. > :59:34.challenging George. Talk about timing races well, that was a

:59:35. > :59:45.beautifully paced race to win that one. Again Eilidh Child you can see

:59:46. > :59:50.in the background, Margaret Aboeye got the better of her last week, but

:59:51. > :59:55.reversed this time. Sometimes the pacing can get confused in the

:59:56. > :00:19.indoors on the the boards. But how quickly to go out. George judged it

:00:20. > :00:33.beautifully. This is the Italian record-holder. That looks very

:00:34. > :00:48.solid. He will progress in this competition. Very good on the turn.

:00:49. > :01:09.Cleaned in the plant. This man was probably a surprise silver-medallist

:01:10. > :01:16.last year, Erik Kynard. Erik Kynard showing a bit of class stop why not

:01:17. > :01:29.have a bit of a struct? He is enjoying himself. Robbie Grabarz,

:01:30. > :01:38.Olympic runs medallist two years ago. Maybe just a little bit of

:01:39. > :01:50.pressure he felt from last year. Yes! He wriggled himself over the

:01:51. > :01:53.bar. I was chatting to his coach this morning and he said that he is

:01:54. > :02:03.in the best physical shape of his life. He may be needs to be a bit

:02:04. > :02:13.technically more proficient. A good clearance for Robbie Grabarz.

:02:14. > :02:22.So, now the long jump men, running in the opposite direction. This is

:02:23. > :02:41.the man who dominated the event last year and went on to win the world

:02:42. > :02:44.Championships. Aleksandr Menkov. That is not the man that is not the

:02:45. > :02:51.manner we enjoyed watching last year. He looks almost disinterested.

:02:52. > :03:04.Something is obviously not quite right. There is a lot more to come.

:03:05. > :03:05.He is found in fourth place. Certainly more to come from the

:03:06. > :03:30.Russian. Seventh place, in fact. So, a season 's best for Eilidh

:03:31. > :03:39.Child. Kaliese Spencer was just run out of it by Regina George in the

:03:40. > :03:46.home straight. So, onto the men's 400m. A couple of

:03:47. > :03:55.withdrawals. It has slightly weakened the event. The standout

:03:56. > :03:56.athlete is Luguelin Santos. Look out for Luke Lennon-Ford and Nigel

:03:57. > :04:21.Levine. As we go into this race, in the

:04:22. > :04:29.earlier 400-metre race, Richard Buck ran a great time. 46.09 was the

:04:30. > :04:33.quickest time by any British athletes this year. Selection

:04:34. > :04:44.issues, then. Nigel Levine will be in the British team next month in

:04:45. > :04:54.Poland. David Gollnow, from Germany, was a 400m hurdle champions a couple

:04:55. > :05:03.of years ago. 19 macro. Coached by Glen Mills, from the same stable as

:05:04. > :05:13.you see in bold. -- as you see in bold.

:05:14. > :05:27.Luke Lennon-Ford was disqualified last week per running out of his

:05:28. > :05:36.lane. -- for running. Luguelin Santos is still only 20. Nigel

:05:37. > :05:46.Levine was the winner here last year. He knows he is on its way to

:05:47. > :05:50.Poland. Nigel Levine against Luke Lennon-Ford is a subplot here.

:05:51. > :05:51.Richard Buck has led down a marker with a win in the earlier heats at

:05:52. > :06:29.46 point 09. Away they go. Nigel Levine goes very

:06:30. > :06:36.quickly. Luguelin Santos is perhaps timing his run a little bit better.

:06:37. > :06:45.Also going well is 19 macro of Jamaica. Nigel Levine is trying to

:06:46. > :06:51.cut across. Luguelin Santos just gives Edino Steele a little nudge.

:06:52. > :06:52.Luguelin Santos is trying to go round the outside, but Nigel Levine

:06:53. > :07:12.is standing strong. Here comes Nigel Levine. He is

:07:13. > :07:16.holding on for the Vic three. For 5.73, it is really quick! A really

:07:17. > :07:30.impressive victory from start to finish. He had that assurance that

:07:31. > :07:44.he knew he was going to Poland. I think Luke Lennon-Ford knows that

:07:45. > :07:49.Nigel Levine is the number one. The conventional advice is to challenge

:07:50. > :07:52.on the straight in the 400m. Luguelin Santos decided to go for it

:07:53. > :08:00.on the bottom then, maybe that was an experience. Nigel Levine Tibet in

:08:01. > :08:10.the locker for the home straight. That time is just outside his

:08:11. > :08:15.lifetime best. One of the best runs of his careers in doors -- of his

:08:16. > :08:35.career in doors. Still plenty of running in his legs.

:08:36. > :08:38.A very good time. It has been rounded down to a personal best, or

:08:39. > :08:51.levelling it. Just three athletes remain in the

:08:52. > :09:20.high jump. Can Robbie Grabarz matched the

:09:21. > :09:27.performance of the Italian? Come on! Yes! That is more like it! That is a

:09:28. > :09:34.great attempt. Successful at 2.27 metres.

:09:35. > :09:40.We saw a great performance from Nigel Levine, one of the highlights

:09:41. > :09:44.of the day so far. In the last year's we have seen Mo Farah compete

:09:45. > :09:50.as part of his preparations for the outdoor season. Not this year as his

:09:51. > :09:53.focus is the London Marathon. He has been putting in the hard-working

:09:54. > :10:01.Kenyan. The cod Kenyan. We caught up with him. -- the hard work in

:10:02. > :10:04.Kenyan. After all the successes that you

:10:05. > :10:14.have had, you are still coming back here. It has been a key part of my

:10:15. > :10:19.life, training with the guys here. You just eat, sleep and train. It

:10:20. > :10:28.worked for me, so I want to do it again. The marathon will be tough.

:10:29. > :10:34.We have guys who were world record holders will start a tougher

:10:35. > :10:40.challenge than London 2012? Certainly, much tougher. He got

:10:41. > :10:47.criticised for only running half of the race. Did that surprise you, was

:10:48. > :10:56.a disappointing? Yes, it was disappointing. When you stepped off

:10:57. > :11:06.the road, how would you feeling about the whole experience? I was

:11:07. > :11:13.knackered! This year, I don't know what could happen. My goal is to go

:11:14. > :11:18.for the British record. If you were to lose but adequate time, that

:11:19. > :11:23.would be satisfying? Yes, because it is all about learning. The

:11:24. > :11:31.Commonwealth games, RU ready to say you would be running there? I don't

:11:32. > :11:37.know. Your body doesn't allow you to do that. I would love to be on the

:11:38. > :11:43.podium and make their country proud. What are your plans between night

:11:44. > :11:51.and the marathon? Just rain. I will do one race, either ten miles or

:11:52. > :11:57.have mothers -- or a house marathon -- half marathon.

:11:58. > :12:10.I need to do some work! Paula Radcliffe is in the commentary

:12:11. > :12:22.box. He touched on the Commonwealth games. I have the experience of

:12:23. > :12:27.coming after the marathon in the role and then moving into the track

:12:28. > :12:31.season. I think he is being cautious. It is an incredibly tough

:12:32. > :12:37.field in the marathon and he doesn't know how he will recover. We could

:12:38. > :12:42.see racing over 1,500m in Glasgow. He has the ability to do that. It

:12:43. > :12:49.gives him a bit more time to recover from the marathon. He might not have

:12:50. > :12:56.to put in as much background if he was going to do the 5,000m and

:12:57. > :13:01.10,000m. So, not an official line from him, that is just your

:13:02. > :13:04.assessment? There is no official line from Mo Farah, he simply

:13:05. > :13:09.doesn't know. He doesn't know how long it will take them to recover

:13:10. > :13:14.from the marathon. He is in great shape and is taking all of the

:13:15. > :13:22.boxes. I am expecting him to go to London and run well. From your

:13:23. > :13:27.experience, tapping into that, say he didn't do the Commonwealth

:13:28. > :13:33.games, what you think you could possibly do the rest of the year?

:13:34. > :13:36.Will we see him again? I think we definitely will. I think it will

:13:37. > :13:47.take his time and make sure he recovers properly, assess the if he

:13:48. > :13:50.really likes doing its. I think they will definitely see him on the

:13:51. > :13:56.track. It may be over different distances than you might expect. I

:13:57. > :14:05.would like to see him come out to see how fast he can go later on in

:14:06. > :14:11.the season. Next up, the women's 1,500m. Laura

:14:12. > :14:18.Muir is gone for Britain in this one.

:14:19. > :14:28.in about 40 minutes time, Genzebe Dibaba goes. She has shattered the

:14:29. > :14:35.world record so far this season. This race features Laura Muir going

:14:36. > :14:39.for Britain. She won the 800m so impressively in the trials last

:14:40. > :14:50.weekend. Lydia Wafula on the outside is the pacemaker.

:14:51. > :15:02.Tactics so important outdoors but also indoors here. No room for error

:15:03. > :15:03.said Peter Elliott. He is still the record-holder for the men's 1500m

:15:04. > :15:22.indoors. Laura Muir has had such an

:15:23. > :15:49.impressive season this year so far. Jemma Simpson one over this distance

:15:50. > :15:54.at the trials last weekend. This meeting is so important for the

:15:55. > :15:57.British athletes. They are aiming for the World Championships in

:15:58. > :16:03.Poland in three weeks time. 12 athletes here. There will be a real

:16:04. > :16:10.push for racing room over the first couple of laps for sure. Laura Muir

:16:11. > :16:19.with one of the most stern tests of what has been mightily impressive

:16:20. > :16:24.season so far for the 20-year-old. Hellen Onsando Obiri is three from

:16:25. > :16:25.the left. She is the favourite. She got bronze in the Championships last

:16:26. > :16:40.year. Away they go. Laura Muir has made

:16:41. > :16:46.sure she has avoided some potential traffic problems on the first bend.

:16:47. > :16:53.The designated pacemaker or makes her way through to the lead. She is

:16:54. > :17:09.followed by the Ethiopian Tizita Bogale. Laura Muir in a very

:17:10. > :17:14.prominent position here, racing very sensibly well within herself in the

:17:15. > :17:20.early stages. I am really excited to see how Laura does here today. She

:17:21. > :17:25.has really stepped up here over 800m indoors. She is running very

:17:26. > :17:33.maturely and confidently. She has done her first 1500m as well. It may

:17:34. > :17:38.be something she's thinking about doing in Glasgow in the Commonwealth

:17:39. > :17:41.games in the summer. Hassan is moving around. She is trying to beat

:17:42. > :17:54.the Dutch record which has stood since 1998. A reasonably quick race

:17:55. > :17:58.but when you look at it in the context that Dibaba ran 3.55 couple

:17:59. > :18:05.of weeks ago, it shows the scale her achievements. Dibaba shattering the

:18:06. > :18:09.world record by no fewer than three seconds. One of the outstanding runs

:18:10. > :18:15.of all time, not just of this season. She will be attempting to

:18:16. > :18:18.break the world best for two miles at about 12 minutes past four. The

:18:19. > :18:33.last of the races on this programme. We have seen an impressive win in

:18:34. > :18:40.the men's race for Gebriwet. Laura Muir is keeping tabs on these

:18:41. > :18:53.leaders. She is heading down the back straight.

:18:54. > :18:58.Watch out for the other British athletes further near the back,

:18:59. > :19:06.Melissa Courtney, Alison Leonard and Jemma Simpson. These three are

:19:07. > :19:08.looking to try and challenge and get a chance to go to Poland for the

:19:09. > :19:22.world indoors. The race proper begins here as the

:19:23. > :19:26.pacemaker steps aside. Hassan in the lead from Obiri. Laura Muir switches

:19:27. > :19:37.delaying to to clear her racing path. The front five are getting

:19:38. > :19:43.bunched up now. 400m to go, two laps of the track to negotiate. Muir

:19:44. > :19:49.leads the world rankings over 800m this season after the stunning run

:19:50. > :19:53.in Glasgow. Laura Muir is having a brilliant run here. She has the

:19:54. > :20:01.perfect position, keeping out of trouble. Obiri is the athlete she

:20:02. > :20:04.wants to be tracking at this stage. She has put herself in striking

:20:05. > :20:09.distance now to make that move as they hit the bell now. A brave run

:20:10. > :20:15.by Laura Muir here taken herself to the front with 200m to go. Hassan in

:20:16. > :20:21.second place is struggling to respond. Obiri is failing in third

:20:22. > :20:27.place. How much has Laura Muir got here any reserve? The crowd are

:20:28. > :20:32.trying to lift her here. She is being challenged by Hassan. But

:20:33. > :20:38.Laura Muir grits her teeth. Into the home straight. Hassan is alongside.

:20:39. > :20:45.Neophytes again. My just takes it on the line from Hassan in second

:20:46. > :20:51.place. -- Laura Muir just takes it on the line. She refused to give in.

:20:52. > :20:57.Laura Muir looks like she may well have hung on. Desperately close as

:20:58. > :21:04.they flashed across the line. She took it up with a lap to go.

:21:05. > :21:08.Suddenly, the stride started to shorten, the lungs started to empty

:21:09. > :21:21.but it looks as if she may well have hung on. What a performance by Laura

:21:22. > :21:28.Muir. If the result is confirmed it will be a lifetime best. What a

:21:29. > :21:32.season by Laura Muir. It slots her into second place on the all-time UK

:21:33. > :21:41.list behind Kelly Holmes. A really clever race. She tied up but with

:21:42. > :21:46.200m to go she put herself in a perfect position, injected the speed

:21:47. > :21:54.that she needed to do. Obiri was really over striding. Hassan here

:21:55. > :21:59.starts to be the one to look as though she will be the greater

:22:00. > :22:03.danger and able to close up. Laura was fighting. She had the crowd and

:22:04. > :22:08.asked all here urging her Ron. We will see if she did hang on as we

:22:09. > :22:17.get confirmation coming in now. She did do that by two hundredths of a

:22:18. > :22:21.second. And outside wondering -- and outstanding run. Only Kelly Holmes

:22:22. > :22:30.ranks above Laura Muir in the all-time list over 1500m. Behind

:22:31. > :22:35.them, as we will see, a lifetime best. A top-quality 1500m race with

:22:36. > :22:42.Laura Muir trying to hold on to as much of her form as she could in the

:22:43. > :22:48.closing 50 metres. At 13.2 second last lap the Laura Muir. That was

:22:49. > :22:50.enough to give her victory. She is second on the all-time list behind

:22:51. > :23:09.only Kelly Holmes. We can share some of that news with

:23:10. > :23:14.Laura now. You are now second on the all-time UK list, only Dame Kelly

:23:15. > :23:20.Holmes has gone faster. What is your reaction to that? Iron just so

:23:21. > :23:28.happy. I knew I was in good shape. -- I am just so happy. There was a

:23:29. > :23:32.bit of bumping and barging to negotiate. A couple of years ago

:23:33. > :23:38.that would have put me off. Now I am used to the 1500m and I am used to a

:23:39. > :23:44.rough raced. I have to take it on the chin and try and get past it.

:23:45. > :23:49.When the bell went, you went for it. I was on the inside and I managed to

:23:50. > :23:56.go for it. Son determination not to lose. We are seeing it time and time

:23:57. > :24:07.again. Fire macro yes, I do not like losing! I want to say happy birthday

:24:08. > :24:11.to my dad. It is his birthday today. Congratulations. Fire macro thank

:24:12. > :24:17.you. The bar has been raised to two

:24:18. > :24:24.metres and 30 centimetres. It is Marco Fassinotti to try it first. He

:24:25. > :24:32.has gone clear. That is a great job for the Italian. He has jumped

:24:33. > :24:37.higher this year. It is becoming a great competition. This is Erik

:24:38. > :24:41.Kynard now. He has already failed the same height but he will have a

:24:42. > :24:54.second attempt to try and match the Italian. He goes clear. That looked

:24:55. > :25:00.even better. As might he well stride off confidently. Erik Kynard and

:25:01. > :25:09.Marco Fassinotti both clear at 2.3 metres.

:25:10. > :25:38.Plenty of British interest. Guy Learmonth among them. He may have

:25:39. > :25:46.been inspired by watching Laura Muir. He got a silver medal in

:25:47. > :25:55.Sheffield last week. Jeremiah Mutai, one of two runners, alongside

:25:56. > :25:58.mocked a Mohammed, the Kenyan. He tore his Achilles in the first lap

:25:59. > :26:16.-- Motta Mohamed. Adam Kszczot won in Belgium last

:26:17. > :26:22.week. Second quickest in the field this year. Andrew Sergey performs

:26:23. > :26:55.very well on the big stage. Bram Som the veteran Dutchman is the

:26:56. > :27:05.pacemaker. He is a former European champion. Andrei Olivier, the South

:27:06. > :27:17.African, gave Mohamed Aman a decent race at the Diamond League meeting.

:27:18. > :27:42.Andrew Osagie is looking to pace this well. There is a touch of

:27:43. > :27:56.quality about him. He stepped out of his lane in Sheffield and gave Motta

:27:57. > :27:59.Mohamed the victory. He went on to racing duffle Dorff and made amends

:28:00. > :28:27.for that -- to race in duffle Dorff. The pacemaker will step aside

:28:28. > :28:36.shortly. Andrew Osagie trying to get whereas Bram Som steps aside. Andrew

:28:37. > :28:45.Osagie seems to be timing it pretty well at the moment. Mohamed Aman is

:28:46. > :28:51.still out in front heading down the back straight. How much is left in

:28:52. > :28:55.the legs of the Ethiopian? His head started to shake, his legs starting

:28:56. > :29:06.to tire. Adam Kszczot as well. Andrei Olivier is looking strong.

:29:07. > :29:10.Mohamed Aman is going to win this. Andrew Osagie in fourth place.

:29:11. > :29:17.Mohamed Aman went with the pacemaker and there was no catching him. Very

:29:18. > :29:21.strong and a very controlling race around thereby Mohamed Aman. He has

:29:22. > :29:27.run the fastest time in the world so far this year with that 1.44 and

:29:28. > :29:55.Andrew Osagie has come in with a fast time for himself. Andrew Osagie

:29:56. > :30:03.just find himself a little bit box then. He can't quite get around

:30:04. > :30:15.them. It was a fast time, and confirmed his selection for the

:30:16. > :30:32.world indoors. Andre Olivier did well as well. So, Mohamed Aman the

:30:33. > :30:41.winner. We will confirm the times in a few moments.

:30:42. > :30:53.So, coming towards the business end now. This is Robbie Grabarz's third

:30:54. > :31:02.attempt. Very controlled than the approach. Aborted. That is a shame.

:31:03. > :31:17.He lived in shape. Third place for the Britain. -- Britt on

:31:18. > :31:31.congratulations there from Erik Kynard.

:31:32. > :31:39.This would be a season 's best, in fact, a lifetime 's best for the

:31:40. > :31:50.American. Very colourful, flamboyant athlete. He is clear! My word! That

:31:51. > :32:04.is superb high jumping from Erik Kynard. Silver medallist in the

:32:05. > :32:24.Olympics in 2012. So, the long jump continues. Aleksandr Menkov. He

:32:25. > :32:32.didn't like it, but it is definitely better than he has done so far.

:32:33. > :32:45.Slide forward rotation, you could see his head Rob. That is never a

:32:46. > :32:59.good sign. -- his head Bob. That is the lead. So, to confirm the result

:33:00. > :33:29.is of the men's 800m: next up, the men's 60m hurdles

:33:30. > :33:33.final. The big shock of the day was the failure of David Oliver to make

:33:34. > :33:48.the final. Eliminated in one of the two heats. So too was Andy Turner,

:33:49. > :33:54.having come back from injury. In the centre of the picture, you can see

:33:55. > :34:02.Andrew Pozzi lining up in lane for. On the evidence of the heap, he

:34:03. > :34:06.would seem to have most to fear from Pascal Martinot-Lagarde and Sergey

:34:07. > :34:13.Shubenkov. This is going to be a very exciting race. Andrew Pozzi

:34:14. > :34:16.will be anxious, but excited. Training is going really well for

:34:17. > :34:33.him. Yet the three macro is the world leader and everybody will be

:34:34. > :34:37.trying to catch him. -- Pascal Martinot-Lagarde is the world leader

:34:38. > :34:51.and everybody will be trying to catch him. So, Wenjun Xie in lane

:34:52. > :35:07.one. Gregory Sedoc in lane to, of the Netherlands. Garfield Darien,

:35:08. > :35:12.another Frenchman. His best this season is the third best in the

:35:13. > :35:20.world this year. Andrew Pozzi back on form last weekend, it he drew

:35:21. > :35:30.with William Sharman last week in the British trials. In the M5, the

:35:31. > :35:39.world number one this year, Pascal Martinot-Lagarde. 23 years of age.

:35:40. > :35:45.He was sluggish in the heats, but did just enough to win. Sergey

:35:46. > :35:51.Shubenkov, world championship bronze-medallist last year I'd

:35:52. > :35:57.towards. Improving all the time after a sterling junior career. 23

:35:58. > :35:59.years of age. Last year 's European indoor Championships

:36:00. > :36:16.silver-medallist behind Sergey Shubenkov, Paolo Dal Molin of Italy.

:36:17. > :36:17.On the outside, Balazs Baji. His lifetime best is exactly the same as

:36:18. > :36:31.Andrew Pozzi. As ever, the potential for such a

:36:32. > :36:36.hotly contested race to be separated by just a hundredth of a second or

:36:37. > :36:40.so. Pascal Martinot-Lagarde will be hoping for a much better start than

:36:41. > :36:48.he got in the heats earlier on today. Andrew Pozzi might need to

:36:49. > :36:57.run a lifetime best to get the result here.

:36:58. > :37:16.A better start by Pascal Martinot-Lagarde. It will be the

:37:17. > :37:20.French in first and second. Pascal Martinot-Lagarde got away better

:37:21. > :37:25.than he did earlier on, was challenged by Garfield Darien over

:37:26. > :37:29.the first three hurdles, but surged ahead. That burst of its celebration

:37:30. > :37:39.was unmatched at the rest of the field. Andrew Pozzi went down the

:37:40. > :37:42.field. At a rate that run by the 23-year-old Pascal Martinot-Lagarde

:37:43. > :37:48.of France. We knew it would be tight and exciting and it turned out that

:37:49. > :37:55.way. Sergey Shubenkov is a very strong athlete and will do those his

:37:56. > :37:58.way through the field. He won the bronze medal last year in Moscow.

:37:59. > :38:14.Pascal Martinot-Lagarde has improved. He will be looking to take

:38:15. > :38:18.the world indoor title next year. Andrew Pozzi was just a little bit

:38:19. > :38:22.shy of nailing the first hurdle. That is what cost in the position.

:38:23. > :38:31.Pascal Martinot-Lagarde is the talent and he pulled themselves

:38:32. > :38:39.through. All of them aggressive into the barrier. You can see that Andrew

:38:40. > :38:58.Pozzi struggled into that barrier and there are no room for mistakes

:38:59. > :39:02.over 60m. -- there is no room. You can see that Andrew Pozzi just that

:39:03. > :39:16.first hurdle with his lead and trailing leg.

:39:17. > :39:22.Still, it goes to the world number one, Pascal Martinot-Lagarde. He is

:39:23. > :39:26.establishing himself as the favourite for world indoor goals

:39:27. > :39:33.coming up in Poland in three weeks time.

:39:34. > :39:39.I know you would like to have them better in the final, but a

:39:40. > :39:43.tremendous heat. The heat was really good. It is only my third race in

:39:44. > :39:49.about a year and a half. I the first hurdle in that one. I felt like I

:39:50. > :39:55.was coming back strongly, which is promising. I am happy to be back

:39:56. > :40:04.racing. How difficult has it been for you to come back after the

:40:05. > :40:09.injury? It has been really difficult. I have been battling

:40:10. > :40:14.injury since the winter of 2012. I haven't done enough work to be here

:40:15. > :40:24.racing. I just couldn't resist the chance. I am looking forward to

:40:25. > :40:32.another three weeks so of training. We wish you well. See you there!

:40:33. > :40:47.Next up in the Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, the Queen of speed.

:40:48. > :40:55.She is going to take the gold! It will be good for Shelly-Ann

:40:56. > :40:58.Fraser-Pryce! She will now go down as one of the all-time greats. It

:40:59. > :41:15.was a sensational run. She is smiling star. We have been

:41:16. > :41:21.waiting for this since the semifinals, Murielle Ahoure against

:41:22. > :41:25.Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. I am resisting the temptation to say that

:41:26. > :41:28.we haven't seen the best of her. She didn't look great in the heats. We

:41:29. > :41:33.don't know if she is holding something back. The could be

:41:34. > :41:38.blistering, but it could be that you need is another race to get into

:41:39. > :41:47.full form. She was telling me she has run the 60m out doors, and this

:41:48. > :41:53.is only her second race in doors. You don't know what you're going to

:41:54. > :41:58.do until you get on the track. She will have gone away and assessed

:41:59. > :42:06.performance. She will be getting her head into competitive mood. She is a

:42:07. > :42:12.formidable competitor. Is there any difference between running in a

:42:13. > :42:14.tight-knit atmosphere like this with the sell-out crowd, everybody

:42:15. > :42:19.milling around, photographers everywhere, is a difficult to keep

:42:20. > :42:35.your composure here as opposed outdoors? It is all to do with your

:42:36. > :42:43.preparation. Sometimes you can be quite heady because you have done a

:42:44. > :42:50.lot of weight training. When you run 60m, and you need that explosive

:42:51. > :42:54.energy. You can be a little bit rusty. This is what is going to make

:42:55. > :43:02.it interesting for us, to see what is going on. Murielle Ahoure has

:43:03. > :43:11.gone up a notch from her performances last year. She went

:43:12. > :43:21.into last season after a great year outdoors. She is a comfortable and

:43:22. > :43:32.confident athlete. She loves to run indoors. We can't wait for this one.

:43:33. > :43:39.How wonderful final in prospect. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is there.

:43:40. > :43:45.Murielle Ahoure starts as favourite, the woman from the Ivory

:43:46. > :43:50.Coast. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce got the better of her in Moscow last

:43:51. > :43:55.year. But Murielle Ahoure is flying in doors. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce

:43:56. > :44:03.have the left in reserve? Don't rely the Asha Philip, either. She is in

:44:04. > :44:12.the form of her life stop Sophie Papps, after a wonderful heat, also

:44:13. > :44:42.representing the home club 's. -- home hopes. So, Renata --, Harrigan

:44:43. > :45:02.in lane one. Asha Philip is very quick. There is Shelly-Ann

:45:03. > :45:13.Fraser-Pryce, shaking off the rust. Twice Olympic champion over 100m.

:45:14. > :45:21.Gold last year in Moscow. Murielle Ahoure, the Ivory Coast has been

:45:22. > :45:32.roaring to victory so far this season. Sophie Papps, what a great

:45:33. > :45:37.experience for her. She ran Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce very close.

:45:38. > :45:44.Dafne Schippers, bronze and the habitats: Last year in Moscow. She

:45:45. > :45:48.ran herself to a standstill in the 800m to take the bronze medal. She

:45:49. > :45:53.has been competing in the long jump as well. Completing the line-up,

:45:54. > :46:35.Ezinne Okparabo. Is it between these two? Asha Philip

:46:36. > :46:37.will have her say. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Murielle Ahoure

:46:38. > :46:39.start as favourites. The penultimate race of the day, the women's 60

:46:40. > :46:52.metres. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce was away

:46:53. > :46:59.sharply. They are called back. Murielle Ahoure was dawdling in her

:47:00. > :47:03.blocks, comparatively by Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. We are looking at

:47:04. > :47:08.their reaction times. Lane eight again. I am sure there is something

:47:09. > :47:13.in lane eight. It is absolutely not her but it is coming up on the

:47:14. > :47:17.computer as a negative time, technically a false start. We have

:47:18. > :47:26.seen that three times today. And there was a disqualification. Lane

:47:27. > :47:38.eight is an unlucky lane. The stadium announcer is saying that, to

:47:39. > :47:45.say the least. They have got to relax, get back in the zone and

:47:46. > :47:49.prepare. The person who was really left was Murielle Ahoure. I think

:47:50. > :47:55.they have realised now that the -- lane eight is misbehaving. They are

:47:56. > :48:19.ready once again. Murielle Ahoure stretches and settles.

:48:20. > :48:27.This time they go. It is a good start by Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.

:48:28. > :48:32.Asha Philip is there. Murielle Ahoure may have come through to take

:48:33. > :48:41.that by a whisker. Asha Philip in contention as well. What a race. It

:48:42. > :48:45.looked like it was between Murielle Ahoure and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.

:48:46. > :48:50.What a race, what a race. That is what 60 metre running is all about.

:48:51. > :48:54.An explosive start by these two athletes. They know each other well

:48:55. > :48:59.and they enjoy competing against each other. Now they're waiting to

:49:00. > :49:03.see who takes the result. What does it say? It is saying the same time

:49:04. > :49:13.but Murielle Ahoure has been given it. Asha Philip in lane three

:49:14. > :49:22.getting third. Murielle Ahoure in lane five just sneaking it. She has

:49:23. > :49:27.been given the victory we believe. Let's have a look from here. The two

:49:28. > :49:40.athletes we expected to be out there had the most explosive start. Don't

:49:41. > :49:45.write off Asha Phillips. If she could have lent a little bit harder,

:49:46. > :49:50.she could have been closer. A great, solid performance by her in real

:49:51. > :49:55.world-class opposition. Let's have a look at this angle. We know

:49:56. > :49:59.Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has an explosive start. Murielle Ahoure has

:50:00. > :50:04.been here before, has defeated Shelley and under these

:50:05. > :50:09.circumstances. And with the confidence she has gain has really

:50:10. > :50:14.hauled herself through this field. A wonderful performance by all three

:50:15. > :50:17.athletes. There have been given the same time but we saw that Murielle

:50:18. > :50:40.Ahoure has taken the victory. Thank you, Andrew, the two stars of

:50:41. > :50:45.the show today. You love burning? Yes, I do! I always run really well

:50:46. > :50:50.here so it is great to be invited back. The atmosphere here, I know

:50:51. > :50:55.you trained here at head of the Olympics and you love burning and

:50:56. > :51:00.they love you back. Yes, I can see that. I heard a cheer from the

:51:01. > :51:05.crowd. I think that helped me to relax. I love coming here and I am

:51:06. > :51:10.looking forward to coming here again. Can you give us a taste of

:51:11. > :51:14.the World Championships next month? I am training really hard. I have a

:51:15. > :51:24.really great opponent next to me. She always brings the best out of me

:51:25. > :51:27.so I am excited. It is great that you are pushing each other to new

:51:28. > :51:30.heights. Yes, one thing I like about the ladies is we never hide. We

:51:31. > :51:36.always face each other. The sport brings out the best in us. I look

:51:37. > :51:41.forward to every competition, racing the females. You never let us down,

:51:42. > :51:45.you did not today. Thank you both for talking to us. H Amend 's

:51:46. > :51:55.performance over 60 metres. Could we see a world record over two miles

:51:56. > :51:56.from Genzebe Dibaba? She is a huge talent, Genzebe

:51:57. > :52:48.Dibaba. She is sprinting home. Paula Radcliffe is in the commentary

:52:49. > :52:54.box. We know how good Tirunesh Dibaba is. Genzebe Dibaba is getting

:52:55. > :52:58.ready for the two miles. Can we see anything even better? I think we can

:52:59. > :53:11.and I think we have over the last few days. She has moved forward and

:53:12. > :53:19.to come back and only the Chinese have run faster, if she goes

:53:20. > :53:30.anywhere near the paste then she will smash the two-mile record

:53:31. > :53:36.today. Are we looking at a foregone conclusion? I do not think we are

:53:37. > :53:40.looking at a foregone conclusion. In racing, anything can happen. But we

:53:41. > :53:46.are going with a very strong chance of it. I think we will see something

:53:47. > :53:52.very special here. OK, let's hand up to the commentary box, to call the

:53:53. > :53:57.race for the two miles, Mike Costello: This one.

:53:58. > :54:06.-- calling this one. One of the great athletes looks to

:54:07. > :54:11.push the boundary of human achievement. Genzebe Dibaba, 23,

:54:12. > :54:17.from Ethiopia has been barging down the barriers. Two world records over

:54:18. > :54:20.the space of a few days. She has beat the previous best by a total of

:54:21. > :54:25.more than ten seconds. A race within a race here with the British

:54:26. > :54:37.athletes attempting for 3000 metre qualifying times for the world

:54:38. > :54:45.indoors. Genzebe Dibaba in the yellow vest, 23 years of age. She is

:54:46. > :54:49.attempting to set a third world record in the space of a couple of

:54:50. > :54:59.weeks, on a track where there have been so many great Ethiopian

:55:00. > :55:04.performances in the past. Helen Clitheroe, now 40 years of age. Gold

:55:05. > :55:08.medallist at the European indoor Championships in Paris three years

:55:09. > :55:15.ago. Looking for a qualifying time for Poland. Lydia Chepkurui, a

:55:16. > :55:23.silver medallist in the steeplechase final in Moscow last year. Steph

:55:24. > :55:25.Twell, preparing long-term for the Commonwealth Games, at which she

:55:26. > :55:36.will be representing Scotland later this year. The British champion,

:55:37. > :55:43.Charlene Thomas. She needs a quicker time than she produced last weekend

:55:44. > :55:46.in Sheffield. She needs to go three seconds quicker here to qualify for

:55:47. > :55:58.the world indoor Championships in Poland. This two mile distance is in

:55:59. > :56:06.effect 3200 metres. This is all about Genzebe Dibaba of Ethiopia.

:56:07. > :56:15.They are underway. 16 laps of the track. 16 laps between Dibaba and

:56:16. > :56:21.athletics history. The pacemaker, Renata Plis of Poland, has been

:56:22. > :56:30.asked to take them through 1500m in around four minutes 12 seconds. If

:56:31. > :56:36.this to be the third time that Dibaba has broken a world best or a

:56:37. > :56:44.world record so far in the early weeks of 2014? Straightaway we see

:56:45. > :56:46.the field breaks up. Hiwot Ayalew is one of the only people prepared to

:56:47. > :57:00.go at this pace. For Renata Plis to go as a pacemaker

:57:01. > :57:04.with someone clipping at your heels to say go faster, go faster, and

:57:05. > :57:09.then you know you will step aside and they will inject the pace. She

:57:10. > :57:15.has a very hard job ahead of her. Behind that, we want to see the

:57:16. > :57:18.British girls time through 3000m. That will give qualifying times

:57:19. > :57:33.hopefully for the World Championships.

:57:34. > :57:40.As is the case in high jump, it is a process of elimination until you

:57:41. > :57:47.find the winner. And here he is, Erik Kynard is the best this

:57:48. > :57:52.afternoon. 2.34 metres so far. This is two metres and 37. Truly

:57:53. > :57:58.world-class. The third attempt. That was close for the American.

:57:59. > :58:02.Disappointing but what a great show of high jumping for Erik Kynard. A

:58:03. > :58:09.silver medal in the Olympics two years ago. That is world-class high

:58:10. > :58:21.jumping. A lifetime best for Erik Kynard. Here is confirmation of the

:58:22. > :58:27.high jump competition. Erik Kynard on top, closely followed by Marco

:58:28. > :58:28.Fassinotti. Robbie Grabarz, a very credible third place, his best this

:58:29. > :58:46.year. And also concluded was the men's

:58:47. > :58:52.long jump. Aleksandr Menkov in first. It took him a while to get

:58:53. > :58:57.going. A great performance from Greg Rutherford. He is back in shape. A

:58:58. > :59:10.season's best. Well done, Greg. Renata Plis is from Poland. She is

:59:11. > :59:20.doing an excellent job pacemaking so far. She is two seconds up on the

:59:21. > :59:32.paste that Meseret Defar set when she ran the world record. -- two

:59:33. > :59:36.seconds up on the pace. Meseret Defar set the world record in the

:59:37. > :59:44.Czech Republic in February 2009. It has not been seriously challenged

:59:45. > :59:50.since Dibaba now. She is still trailing the pacemaker. Hiwot Ayalew

:59:51. > :00:01.is the only other athlete who can go at this pace. Lydia Chepkurui has

:00:02. > :00:06.dropped back. Renata Plis is doing a sterling job as the pacemaker

:00:07. > :00:12.playing her part in this attempt on history by Genzebe Dibaba of

:00:13. > :00:20.Ethiopia. A world record in Germany two Saturdays ago in the 1500m. She

:00:21. > :00:27.smashed the 3000 world best by seven seconds in Stockholm a few days

:00:28. > :00:33.later. Now it is Dibaba who takes the lead. The pacemaker step aside.

:00:34. > :00:38.Hiwot Ayalew is the only athlete comfortably with her now. Eight laps

:00:39. > :00:59.to go. Now I think we will see the pace pick-up. She manages to move

:01:00. > :01:04.even further ahead. We do have Josephine motor -- we do have

:01:05. > :01:11.Josephine Moultrie leaving their British athletes at the minute.

:01:12. > :01:16.Seven laps to go for Genzebe Dibaba. Seven world records within the space

:01:17. > :01:22.of six days were so. There are periods in an athletes life with you

:01:23. > :01:25.just feel irresistible. There is that purple patch, when you know

:01:26. > :01:34.that every time you step out you're going to win the race. She is just

:01:35. > :01:45.going for the time. She knows after the run in Stockholm, that she can

:01:46. > :01:50.really run this two miles. The atmosphere here has been stunned by

:01:51. > :01:55.our succession of wonderful performances, so often described as

:01:56. > :02:02.the best of the indoor meetings across the season. Birmingham has

:02:03. > :02:06.lived up to its billing. Temp to is trying to provide the perfect

:02:07. > :02:15.curtain closer. She is swinging around into the home straight. Still

:02:16. > :02:19.imperious. 1,000m remaining. 1,000m to go and she is now well on for a

:02:20. > :02:37.time of under nine minutes. She is getting to the point was she

:02:38. > :02:47.will be lapping athletes at the back of the field. The meeting direct is

:02:48. > :02:55.as the agents of the other runners to try to give Genzebe Dibaba a

:02:56. > :03:01.clear run. For laps to go. She comes from this incredibly successful

:03:02. > :03:12.family. Her older sister is a multiple medal winner. The champion

:03:13. > :03:20.in Barcelona over 10,000m is a cousin. Here is Genzebe Dibaba,

:03:21. > :03:27.coming through, 600 metres to run. She is over ten seconds up on the

:03:28. > :03:34.pace. She will be able to use Helen Clitheroe to pull her on. Helen

:03:35. > :03:37.Clitheroe is a little bit worried. She is caught in a difficult

:03:38. > :03:44.situation. You don't know whether to move wides, or just a has you are.

:03:45. > :03:50.She did the right thing. So, Genzebe Dibaba as well inside schedule to

:03:51. > :03:59.set a world best for two miles. In towards the home straight and the

:04:00. > :04:04.final 400m. She is soon to lap Josephine Moultrie. This is all

:04:05. > :04:08.about the clock. Genzebe Dibaba against the clock. Looking for

:04:09. > :04:18.another piece of history for the third time this season. She moves

:04:19. > :04:23.past Josephine Moultrie. If it into contact with the outstanding speed

:04:24. > :04:28.that Genzebe Dibaba is moving out. Given that she is capable of running

:04:29. > :04:40.close to 60 seconds for the last 400m, this world record is going to

:04:41. > :04:52.be smashed. Listen to the crowd! She looks so confident, almost

:04:53. > :04:57.arrogance, in irresistible form. Her compatriots are broken world records

:04:58. > :05:02.here, and now it is the time of Genzebe Dibaba. She is pushing for

:05:03. > :05:11.the line. The clock is ticking. She gets there, and she has done it! She

:05:12. > :05:18.breaks the world records for two miles by six seconds with

:05:19. > :05:23.thereabouts. Three world records in little over two weeks! Look at the

:05:24. > :05:28.crowd respond! Everyone is on their feet. They know they are in the

:05:29. > :05:35.presence of a truly special at Leeds. Genzebe Dibaba of Ethiopia

:05:36. > :05:40.smashes the two mile best. She now sets up to take the acclaim of the

:05:41. > :05:46.crowd. Another piece of history here in Birmingham, where so many great

:05:47. > :05:58.feats have been produced. Add to that long tally can be added the

:05:59. > :06:09.name of Genzebe Dibaba. If you look at her splits, encouraging for the

:06:10. > :06:24.rest of us to see that she is capable of slowing down a bit! She

:06:25. > :06:30.was almost totally on her room for the second part of that race. She

:06:31. > :06:36.was extremely in control. As tired as she is, she can still hold up the

:06:37. > :06:42.cheque for $15,000 to mark a special performance. Genzebe Dibaba, visual

:06:43. > :06:50.clues, and what a way to bring a high-class afternoon of athletics to

:06:51. > :06:58.an end. She is the outstanding athlete of 2014 so far. 23 years of

:06:59. > :07:07.age, her third world record in the space of just over two weeks. There

:07:08. > :07:14.is the time confirmed. History for Genzebe Dibaba. What a magnificent

:07:15. > :07:21.way to end a tremendous indoor romp reimbursement. Paula, can you put

:07:22. > :07:30.this in context? We're looking at phenomenal athlete. She has had a

:07:31. > :07:44.massive world record over 1500 readers, another 1/3000 metres, and

:07:45. > :07:49.another one here at two miles. She smashed the record by over six

:07:50. > :07:55.seconds. It all bodes well for a very strong I'd order season. What

:07:56. > :08:03.kind of fireworks can be expected orders? We need to see what the

:08:04. > :08:06.eventual, and racing. She dabbled a bit in 5,000m last year, but it

:08:07. > :08:13.didn't really work. It'll be interesting to see. Her injuries is

:08:14. > :08:18.getting stronger. Her speed is still as good as ever. We could see her do

:08:19. > :08:28.something very special anywhere from 1,500m, right the way up to 10,000m.

:08:29. > :08:35.We have seen something very special. We have seen some phenomenal races

:08:36. > :08:42.over the last few years in doors, but this was mind blowing. I don't

:08:43. > :08:46.know how she managed to put together these back-to-back performances that

:08:47. > :08:58.are so outstanding. She comes from a great pedigree. What an incredible

:08:59. > :09:03.performance. She has all those personal bests behind her, as well.

:09:04. > :09:09.Talking about the international performance of the day, Genzebe

:09:10. > :09:17.Dibaba, but what about the formance of the day for British athletes?

:09:18. > :09:21.Laura Muir. What doesn't have to be mature bit of running. She really

:09:22. > :09:24.attacked that final lap, took the lead and said, if you're going to

:09:25. > :09:32.run me down, work with this performance. She relied on the

:09:33. > :09:38.incredible ride to Leicester. She fought hard and deserve that the

:09:39. > :10:03.tree. The second fastest time behind Kelly Holmes. Andrew Osagie, that

:10:04. > :10:11.was a fantastic run. Let's hope that for him, it is only cramp. To shut

:10:12. > :10:14.down at 40 metres effectively, when the hamstring started to bite,

:10:15. > :10:19.although can do is wish you can do is wish and a speedy recovery. Have

:10:20. > :10:24.you ever had that before, would you thought you did a more serious

:10:25. > :10:30.injury, and it was just cramp? For me, it was the other way round. Me,

:10:31. > :10:35.too. We have the world Championships, nothing: Next month.

:10:36. > :10:47.You can see all the action on the BBC. From Birmingham and the indoor

:10:48. > :10:50.Grand Prix, thanks for watching and we will see you next time.
