:00:49. > :00:53.Welcome to Birmingham. This Diamond League meeting is packed with global
:00:54. > :00:57.stars. Just one week ago we were saying goodbye to Switzerland after
:00:58. > :00:59.the great British team enjoyed a very successful European
:01:00. > :01:03.Championships. They finished top of the table with a record haul of gold
:01:04. > :01:10.medals. It certainly was a week to remember. COMMENTATOR: Her whole
:01:11. > :01:22.career has been about this moment! It is gold for Jo Pavey! And now Mo
:01:23. > :01:32.Farah will come away with the win. It is gold! He made it look easy.
:01:33. > :01:44.Absolutely dominant here. Come on Martyn Rooney! Way he goes.
:01:45. > :01:53.Here comes Smith. Matthew Hudson-Smith! Martyn Rooney getting
:01:54. > :01:57.the gold. Hurdling so smoothly, Tiffany Porter. Adam Gemili! It is
:01:58. > :02:13.gold for Great Britain. Adam Gemili... He should bring this
:02:14. > :02:18.home. It is a new British record. Mo Farah... He is steaming away.
:02:19. > :02:24.home. It is a new British record. Mo for the British team.
:02:25. > :02:29.This very knowledgeable crowd is here in Birmingham, and
:02:30. > :02:32.they have come out to celebrate some of that success. Also they want to
:02:33. > :02:34.enjoy some of the global stars that we will see here. This is the
:02:35. > :02:38.business end Diamond League. This is where we
:02:39. > :02:41.bring back the Diamond League. This is where we
:02:42. > :02:43.not seen them for a few months because we enjoyed the Commonwealth
:02:44. > :02:46.Games and the European Championships. They have been racing
:02:47. > :02:51.all round the world, but this Diamond League is loaded with
:02:52. > :02:55.talent, and then at 5pm we have the IPC Grand Prix final. It is a
:02:56. > :02:59.fabulous afternoon of athletics. Colin, let's talk a little bit about
:03:00. > :03:04.the challenges for the British athletes in particular who have come
:03:05. > :03:06.off the back of two, not just one, but to be Championships. Presumably
:03:07. > :03:11.they are looking to peak at those, and then they have the bring their
:03:12. > :03:13.talents and their best here today. You can imagine that physically they
:03:14. > :03:17.will be exhausted because they have worked very hard to achieve what
:03:18. > :03:19.they achieve in major championships. Sometimes the motivation can wane a
:03:20. > :03:23.little bit because they have achieved what they wanted to set out
:03:24. > :03:27.for the whole season. That is the dilemma that they are under right
:03:28. > :03:30.now, I guess. It is difficult. But they will be here and it is the
:03:31. > :03:33.Diamond League. The crowd will help them and left them with their
:03:34. > :03:37.performances. We keep our fingers crossed that we see some strong
:03:38. > :03:41.performances on the world level. Exciting to see exactly where they
:03:42. > :03:44.are. They might have picked up medals at the Commonwealth Games and
:03:45. > :03:52.the Europeans, but when they pitch themselves against the best from the
:03:53. > :03:55.states, it should be interesting. It should be interesting but Colin
:03:56. > :03:57.Jackson has hit the nail on the head, mental fatigue is tough. Some
:03:58. > :04:00.of them obviously have a point to prove, but misery against the world
:04:01. > :04:03.'s best is always tough after major championships. But as he said, the
:04:04. > :04:07.atmosphere is great and the motivation, hopefully, will be to
:04:08. > :04:11.keep adding points to the Diamond League total. Then the IPC Grand
:04:12. > :04:16.Prix final. We finished the European Championship yesterday. Where does
:04:17. > :04:19.this sit in the calendar of events for the IPC? This is hugely
:04:20. > :04:22.important because it is hugely important because if the second year
:04:23. > :04:26.Grand Prix. Obviously we are trying to bring together a series of events
:04:27. > :04:29.and this is the ninth in the calendar. What can be seen as the
:04:30. > :04:34.best in the world, some very targeted events and it is going to
:04:35. > :04:38.be some brilliant competition. 37 events taking you through until 7pm
:04:39. > :04:39.this evening. It will be a fabulous afternoon. The stars are certainly
:04:40. > :04:51.out in Birmingham. Eilidh Child, the golden child in
:04:52. > :05:07.Europe. Here comes Matthew Hudson-Smith...
:05:08. > :05:18.Martyn Rooney gets the gold! That is the world record! David
:05:19. > :05:53.Rudisha is the Olympic champion. Van Rhijn storming through, she will
:05:54. > :05:56.take the victory. Tiffany Porter is hurdling so smoothly. Mo Farah will
:05:57. > :05:59.come away with a victory, it is gold.
:06:00. > :06:07.STUDIO: Is always a favourite, David Rudisha. He was second in the
:06:08. > :06:11.Commonwealth Games, just coming back after an injury struck near in 2013.
:06:12. > :06:15.But the Olympic champion has so many fans in Great Britain and they will
:06:16. > :06:18.be intrigued to see how he gets on in the 600 metres. Steve Cram will
:06:19. > :06:28.take you through the field for this one. COMMENTATOR: Good afternoon
:06:29. > :06:33.everybody and what an event to start with. 600 metres is not often run,
:06:34. > :06:40.but it is intriguing, we have David Rudisha, Casimir Loxsom, Guy
:06:41. > :06:45.Learmonth, and also Kyle Langford. We have got the European champion
:06:46. > :06:47.from 800 metres in there
