:00:54. > :01:02.league which is promising much. The talent that is here tonight is deep.

:01:03. > :01:06.Two events need attention. Kiprop is going for the world record. Colin

:01:07. > :01:14.Jackson is alongside me. Conditions just about perfect. Almost as warm

:01:15. > :01:22.as the UK at the moment! The track is fast. They come here for a good

:01:23. > :01:28.times? Spot on. The conditions attract the athletes. They can

:01:29. > :01:31.concentrate on just performing. Because it is just before the major

:01:32. > :01:36.Championships, the athletes are ready to go. It is their first,

:01:37. > :01:42.their last head-to-head competition until they go to train again for the

:01:43. > :01:56.Majors. And exciting women's 400 metres hurdles to start. Zuzana

:01:57. > :01:57.Hejnova is the name to look out for. Kaliese Spencer is her biggest

:01:58. > :02:12.challenger. There is Hejnova. This is her first

:02:13. > :02:17.race. She will be anxious. All of the women she is up against a posted

:02:18. > :02:28.quick times. It is for her to prove her choke and her condition. Police

:02:29. > :02:30.Spencer has gone under 55 seconds. She will try to do that again today.

:02:31. > :02:43.Your She will try to do that again today.

:02:44. > :02:47.and Stewart story. Carter has had a collegiate career.

:02:48. > :03:42.She will be very good. Moilne stood up. She has got a good

:03:43. > :03:47.excuse. The crowd applauded for the pole vault, which has started on the

:03:48. > :03:52.opposite side of the arena. She has a very good reason. I hope they do

:03:53. > :04:00.not cause a problem for her. I think it was legitimate. Just waiting to

:04:01. > :04:13.see what the verdict is. We talked about the injury for hedge of --

:04:14. > :04:18.hedge over, and has taken a lot longer for her to get back. She is

:04:19. > :04:20.up against it in terms of getting ready for perhaps the European

:04:21. > :04:25.Championships. Interesting to see how she goes. Not the athletes's

:04:26. > :04:44.Ford. A green card. Ten barriers ahead of them. A big

:04:45. > :05:25.crowd here. Not much in it as they go towards

:05:26. > :05:31.the first turn. Spencer, who runs a pretty even paced 400 metres hurdles

:05:32. > :05:34.these days, coasting down the back straight chasing Dan Carter. She is

:05:35. > :05:39.probably just leading the race at the moment. The South African is

:05:40. > :05:52.going well but she has been run down. They reached the critical 300

:05:53. > :05:55.metres position. The champion, Kaliese Spencer, has won all of the

:05:56. > :06:03.races this season. Hejnova is struggling. Spencer wintered. Moilne

:06:04. > :06:11.in second place. In third place was Cassandra Tate of the United States.

:06:12. > :06:18.I'd spiked a bit quicker than that. Nevertheless, it was a commanding

:06:19. > :06:24.run. She has really contained this race now. She runs a very steady

:06:25. > :06:30.first 200. Works between 200 and 300 and goes away in the last 100. She

:06:31. > :06:37.has all the confidence in the world to do that. She has been the

:06:38. > :06:42.undoubted number one. Moilne could not work off the last two hurdles.

:06:43. > :06:48.Carter out of it completely. Poor run from her. And Hejnova, it was a

:06:49. > :06:59.risk for her to come back in this race, and she was shown up. These

:07:00. > :07:03.are low hurdles. Watching Spencer down the back straight, she is just

:07:04. > :07:08.gliding over them. Almost stepping over them. She has got the ability

:07:09. > :07:13.to do that. With the flat speed she has as well, maintaining what has

:07:14. > :07:17.already been a cracking year. Not as quick as we have seen from her.

:07:18. > :07:26.Probably not the best race we have seen this year.

:07:27. > :07:36.She is though, Kaliese Spencer, the class act of this event this year.

:07:37. > :07:39.She won the quickest race. That was nowhere near her best but she can

:07:40. > :07:46.only beat the field that is there. What did you take from that race? A

:07:47. > :07:49.very rusty performance from Hejnova. With that in mind you have to take

:07:50. > :07:54.into consideration that he it is our first race, yes it is hot

:07:55. > :08:01.competition, but she can go back into training and thinks to herself,

:08:02. > :08:05.if I can improve... She is a real class athlete, as we know. She is

:08:06. > :08:08.world champion. We know what she can deliver. You have got to believe

:08:09. > :08:15.that when time comes, she will be a threat. Whether she will be able to

:08:16. > :08:22.do that by the middle of August though... Eilidh Child is fourth on

:08:23. > :08:25.the Diamond League standings. Her mind focused very heavily on

:08:26. > :08:31.Glasgow. She is the poster child for Glasgow. The confidence that Kaliese

:08:32. > :08:35.Spencer is showing right now is overwhelming. Because she is so

:08:36. > :08:42.confident and assured offer performance... Eilidh Child, that

:08:43. > :08:48.European Championships could be hers. We are up and running in

:08:49. > :08:53.Monaco. Here are some more stars coming out to shine tonight. The

:08:54. > :08:59.men's high jump has been thrilling all season. Bondarenko, Ukhov and

:09:00. > :09:05.Barshim will do battle again tonight. Asbel Kiprop will attempt

:09:06. > :09:12.to break the world record over 1500 metres, a mark that has stood for 16

:09:13. > :09:14.years. Britain's Jessica George is celebrating selection for the

:09:15. > :09:21.European Championships. She test yourself against the world's best

:09:22. > :09:25.tonight. The sprint hurdles include the world record holder, the world

:09:26. > :09:34.champion and the Diamond league leader. And there is a mouthwatering

:09:35. > :10:03.women's 100 metres. This is how the evening is shaping up.

:10:04. > :10:10.We have got a fabulous night in store. We do have two touch upon a

:10:11. > :10:19.more '' more unsavoury things. Let's start with the good. To have six men

:10:20. > :10:26.over 240 and the men's high jump, it is not a one trick race, is it? This

:10:27. > :10:30.world record is threatening? That is the great thing. It is about true

:10:31. > :10:37.competition. None of these jumpers can rest on their laurels. If they

:10:38. > :10:43.want to win and want to win the Diamond league, they have the jump

:10:44. > :10:50.high. Bondarenko did 2.42 in New York. Yes, and that took a lot of

:10:51. > :11:01.people's breath away. Today we have six athletes who have done it. Ukhov

:11:02. > :11:06.was 2.61 in Doha. Yes, that is exciting for me. This is a

:11:07. > :11:11.knowledgeable audience in Monaco. I am as excited as everybody else. I

:11:12. > :11:20.am a huge fan. I know you are. The next bit of the good and bad will

:11:21. > :11:26.displease you. Gay and captain are performing tonight. Whatever they do

:11:27. > :11:30.on the track, their parental '' the performances are forever tainted?

:11:31. > :11:37.You are so right. Tainted not only by themselves but the audience. We

:11:38. > :11:41.think about what happened in their past. We believed in their

:11:42. > :11:47.performances. Unfortunately for us, the fact that Tyson had a little

:11:48. > :11:51.negotiation to get his banned down, it doesn't leave a nice flavour in

:11:52. > :11:57.the mouth of somebody who is a fan, like myself. Let's get back to the

:11:58. > :12:07.positive. David Rudisha, he graced the track '' he graces the track. He

:12:08. > :12:14.is sublime. His style is beautiful. In Glasgow we saw it yet again.

:12:15. > :12:20.They will all, we suspect, be chasing this man. Can they beat the

:12:21. > :12:25.legendary David Rudisha? The crowd roaring him on. They know they are

:12:26. > :12:30.seeing a special, special athlete. He strides with power down the back

:12:31. > :12:36.straight. What a magnificent sight. This is quick! David Rudisha is back

:12:37. > :12:42.in top form. He is going to win this race. Watch the clock. 1.43.35. The

:12:43. > :12:54.fastest in the world this year. And a race which, for David Rudisha,

:12:55. > :13:03.signalled he is not far away. It is a fabulous field for Rudisha

:13:04. > :13:13.to join the ceiling. '' this evening. Let's see what sort of

:13:14. > :13:18.challenge this field will give him tonight. We know conditions are

:13:19. > :13:30.good. The track is quick. Let's join the commentators, Steve and Stewart.

:13:31. > :13:37.Kaki, the man from Sudan, lining up alongside Lewandowski. Kaki has been

:13:38. > :13:43.out of sorts recently. I wonder what sort of Ron Webber get from him

:13:44. > :13:50.tonight. The world champion last year, Mohammed Aman, in the absence

:13:51. > :14:02.of David Rudisha. Still just 20 years old.

:14:03. > :14:13.Bosse. So much young talent in this field. Seventh in the World

:14:14. > :14:22.Championships. Had a great year last year. Rudisha, the Olympic champion,

:14:23. > :14:28.the world record holder. 143.34 in Glasgow. Looked almost back to his

:14:29. > :14:35.best. Was in great form for the first 700 and tonight, he'll rely on

:14:36. > :14:41.his regular pacemaker, Tangui to take him out in 49.5. He wants a

:14:42. > :14:47.good, hard race, and he'll get one against the clock and this stellar

:14:48. > :14:51.field. Rudisha, Aman, Amos, and then you can throw in the others as well

:14:52. > :14:55.who, on their day, can give each other something to think about.

:14:56. > :15:07.Men's 800 metres. Chatting to Rudisha yesterday, he

:15:08. > :15:16.said how much confidence Glasgow had given him. Everything's settled down

:15:17. > :15:23.in training now. He will be taking on Amos in the red. Could be the

:15:24. > :15:30.danger, raw talent from bats war that. Rudisha moving in behind his

:15:31. > :15:34.team'mate Bosse, Cheruiyot. Aman. Further back in the middle of the

:15:35. > :15:36.field is Solomon, the front'running American happy to follow Rudisha at

:15:37. > :15:57.the moment. The Australian at back. 49.41 is quick and just what was

:15:58. > :16:05.asked for. Amos. A gap. Aman realises he's got

:16:06. > :16:09.to do something. Has he let Rudisha get away? Looks serene at the moment

:16:10. > :16:18.and Aman having to work hard to get back. Amos looks dangerous. Bosse

:16:19. > :16:23.still having a fabulous run. Rudisha sees he's behind him. Amos on his

:16:24. > :16:32.shoulder will fight and scrap. Aman still can't get to the first three.

:16:33. > :16:34.Amos. Now he realises Amos is there. Brilliant run. Aman finishing

:16:35. > :16:48.incredibly quickly. Amos gets the win. 142.46. Smashed

:16:49. > :16:53.his personal best. What a race from this young man. He ran the 00 metres

:16:54. > :16:57.in the Diamond League last week in Glasgow. Rudisha was preferring to

:16:58. > :17:00.have a bit of a clear run. He's going to be running against him at

:17:01. > :17:08.the Commonwealth Games and Rudisha knows when he's not at his best.

:17:09. > :17:16.They are going to follow on from him and hang on to him. He's a fighter,

:17:17. > :17:24.a scrapper. He doesn't get up. He's ungamely at times.

:17:25. > :17:36.A national record for Bosse. Aman finished strongly in third as well.

:17:37. > :17:45.Watch out for this man. Yes. This was some talk in Glasgow

:17:46. > :17:52.that Rudisha, despite the fact he won that race, his recovery took a

:17:53. > :17:56.long, long time. He ends up in fifth place because Aman is behind Bosse.

:17:57. > :18:01.They all come and jump down on him. Look at that. They are all there.

:18:02. > :18:06.But Amos, he is ungamely, you are right, there's no finesse about him,

:18:07. > :18:11.he's just gritted his teeth, just got on with it and it was a fine,

:18:12. > :18:21.fine performance. A new world lead, a meeting record as well. And that

:18:22. > :18:25.record was held in 1999 from a Dane. That tells you the quality of this

:18:26. > :18:34.event. We said it was tough and my goonedness me, didn't it prove to be

:18:35. > :18:39.so. '' my goodness me. Five men under 143. Not often you

:18:40. > :18:45.say that. We'll have to check the statisticians to see if that's

:18:46. > :18:49.happened before. Rudisha, the fastest time of all'time. Amos

:18:50. > :18:54.really has announced himself on the big stage. He obviously did at the

:18:55. > :18:57.Olympics and has followed that up with some big wins already. But this

:18:58. > :19:05.is perhaps the best run of his career. Lower down, you can see

:19:06. > :19:13.national record, personal best and equalling the national record of

:19:14. > :19:18.Australia, Rowe, 144.40. That record stood for 46 years.

:19:19. > :19:28.Equalled it, not quite taken it yet. What a way to start this evening.

:19:29. > :19:34.What a race! Rudisha said in Glasgow he felt he can go quicker. He went

:19:35. > :19:38.down to 142, albeit just under, 14 `3rks but ahead of him a field of

:19:39. > :19:44.very fast men and Amos still just 20 years old? An incredible race and

:19:45. > :19:48.800 metres never lets us down with sheer excitement, quality of

:19:49. > :19:54.performance too. You saw everything there. It's breathtaking. Goes to

:19:55. > :19:59.show you how good the conditions are. Osagie, hello, how are you?

:20:00. > :20:04.That was an interesting race to be in, I imagine, because everyone was

:20:05. > :20:11.so quick ahead of you? It was really quick. At the trials a couple of

:20:12. > :20:18.weeks ago, I didn't have a good run actually. My hamstring has given me

:20:19. > :20:22.a nightmare the last couple of weeks. It was OK that run but it was

:20:23. > :20:27.a great opportunity to run faster. Gutted that I'm not in the shape I

:20:28. > :20:30.wanted to be. How quicker can you get into that shape, the

:20:31. > :20:39.Commonwealth Games are fast'approaching? How quick I get

:20:40. > :20:48.fit, if I'm lucky, just over one week to go. Came here to run my legs

:20:49. > :20:53.off and did all right. Never fails to deliver, that 800 metres. Having

:20:54. > :21:00.Rudisha back as well, is that adding spice for you? It is for me. I like

:21:01. > :21:04.running this race. I would love to be able to get ahead of him one day

:21:05. > :21:14.but you want to race against the best in the world in this sport.

:21:15. > :21:18.Good to see him back as well? Good to see what distance he can make up

:21:19. > :21:22.with Amos as well? Yes. The Commonwealth Games will be really

:21:23. > :21:25.tough this year as well with the Europeans. Coming out from a

:21:26. > :21:26.different angle, the Commonwealth Games might be different from the

:21:27. > :21:36.Europeans. I'm looking forward to trying to

:21:37. > :21:41.overcome both. Look forward to seeing you get back to your very

:21:42. > :21:46.best. Looking forward to see you. He's still not breathless, you know!

:21:47. > :21:54.That proves to us that he's still very fit indeed. He's just mentioned

:21:55. > :22:02.that he needs to get race sharp. In a couple of weeks he can get in

:22:03. > :22:06.better shape. In good time, yes. The athletics programme starts a week

:22:07. > :22:11.tomorrow, the 26th. The opening ceremony is next Wednesday. We have

:22:12. > :22:15.got another treat for you as well. Exceptional sportsmen, never mind

:22:16. > :22:21.athletics or 800 metre running, there's something coming up that you

:22:22. > :22:25.shouldn't miss. In 2005, a barefoot man walked into a school and was

:22:26. > :22:30.given running shoes and a chance. Where are you going to be in years

:22:31. > :22:39.to come? One man believed he had the talent to be the greatest runner on

:22:40. > :22:49.earth. I had to do something. 100 seconds to beat the world. The David

:22:50. > :22:54.Rudisha Story, Tuesday 22nd July. So 100 Seconds to Beat the World. I

:22:55. > :22:59.don't know about you, but I know where I'm going to be sat, watching

:23:00. > :23:04.that! It promises to be a fantastic watch. Goes back to when he was a

:23:05. > :23:08.kid. The kind of footage that we all dream of wishing that we'd had that

:23:09. > :23:12.footage of Messi when he was a kid or that footage of those greats, so

:23:13. > :23:17.it will be fantastic. A very good watch. I'm looking forward to

:23:18. > :23:20.watching it too. Any room on your sofa? Yes. Let's talk about the

:23:21. > :23:27.British selections. Questioning still in the air, but we know the

:23:28. > :23:37.answers now and there are some that have made the Championships, some

:23:38. > :23:42.that haven't. Dasalou delivered last year at the World Championships, so

:23:43. > :23:52.let's give him another chance. He's been consistent too. Came back with

:23:53. > :24:01.a 10. 075 from '' 10. 03 from Lausanne. James is great.

:24:02. > :24:14.Hudson'Smith was taken by surprise. His reaction was beautiful, wasn't

:24:15. > :24:19.it? ! ? I was in two minds which I preferred, his performance or his

:24:20. > :24:27.reaction. They were both absolutely thrilling. It's nice to see the nice

:24:28. > :24:31.young talent. It meant a lot for him to do something like that. It's

:24:32. > :24:36.exciting. People spend time saying, do they really want it, have they

:24:37. > :24:43.got the hunger for it. He demonstrated that.

:24:44. > :24:48.That could make a difference for him in the next few years. The kind of

:24:49. > :24:55.men he'll be wanting to beat are lining up for the men's 400 metres

:24:56. > :25:05.here. LaShawn Merritt is the outstanding name of course in that

:25:06. > :25:08.field and don't overlook others. It's a strong line'up. No James, of

:25:09. > :25:21.course. Borlee, from Belgium there. Let's

:25:22. > :25:41.join the commentary team for the one'lap race.

:25:42. > :25:54.This is a real character, the Botswana, Makwala, he's a 44.01 this

:25:55. > :25:59.season, a personal best in the 400, so watch out for him. Then you've

:26:00. > :26:08.got Gil Roberts of the United States. He's the American champion,

:26:09. > :26:16.44.53 was his best and Tony McQuay in lane seven. He has got a best of

:26:17. > :26:20.what, 44.92, silver medallist in the World Championships. And Conrad

:26:21. > :26:24.Williams very much part of the Great Britain 400 squad in the past and

:26:25. > :26:33.sixth in the race in Glasgow a week ago. Wonder what LaShawn Merritt can

:26:34. > :26:43.do here, the reigning champion? Borlee, Santos, Merritt, McQuay,

:26:44. > :27:17.Williams and Makwala, the men's 400 metres.

:27:18. > :27:27.Bound to be a quick one. Santos got off pretty quickly. Roberts, the

:27:28. > :27:33.American very fast. Up on McQuay at the moment. Run past Williams.

:27:34. > :27:38.Borlee has made a very fast first 200 metres, and the world champion,

:27:39. > :27:46.LaShawn Merritt looks very, very easy at 200 metres and starts to

:27:47. > :27:50.move between two and three. Makwala has been targeted. Santos coming off

:27:51. > :27:56.the bend quite well. Makwala and Merritt. Outside him, Roberts of the

:27:57. > :28:00.United States. LaShawn Merritt now, Makwala fades. LaShawn is going to

:28:01. > :28:12.take this one, Roberts in second place and Makwala took the third at

:28:13. > :28:18.44.30 for the winner. Pretty tough. Merritt can do this time and time

:28:19. > :28:27.again. Turned Makwala into a third placer actually in the 400 there,

:28:28. > :28:29.the man from Botswana really struggled many the last 40 or 50

:28:30. > :28:56.metres. Merritt is in great form. He's

:28:57. > :29:03.consistent. He's going to be strong. The only man is James who could have

:29:04. > :29:07.been there. I don't know if we thought he was going to run away

:29:08. > :29:13.from him. It was almost when Merritt came away from him, he was like,

:29:14. > :29:14.here we go and you're not going to outstrength him on the home

:29:15. > :29:30.straight. LaShawn Merritt of the USA, to keep

:29:31. > :29:42.churning out those performances... He puts on a performance every time.

:29:43. > :29:46.He never short'changes you? He proves the importance of racing. The

:29:47. > :29:52.more you race, the more confident you get. The more consistent you

:29:53. > :29:57.get. He believes he can go close to 44 seconds virtually every single

:29:58. > :30:00.race. A couple of years ago when he couldn't race, he struggled to

:30:01. > :30:06.return to his form because he was out of race shape. It is important

:30:07. > :30:11.that athletes get out of there and compete as much as they can. The

:30:12. > :30:18.women's shot put was done and dusted earlier tonight before we came on

:30:19. > :30:24.air. And guess who won? Yes, her 53rd victory in a row, Valerie Adams

:30:25. > :30:30.of New Zealand. The outstanding athlete of generation, some might

:30:31. > :30:36.say. She did it yet again. She really is just the most incredible

:30:37. > :30:39.competitor. I think she is one of those unsung heroes. You don't

:30:40. > :30:45.realise how incredible this woman is. 53 victories. Nobody in

:30:46. > :30:50.athletics has put a winning streak like that together for a huge amount

:30:51. > :30:55.of time. That is a quality athlete. Every time I talk to her, I bow. I

:30:56. > :31:07.am in the presence of a goddess. She just laughs. Let's move next event

:31:08. > :31:11.on the track, the men's 1500 metres. Asbel Kiprop is putting in a real

:31:12. > :31:15.fight tonight for the world record. He has made his intentions clear.

:31:16. > :31:21.Last year he was the head of a thrilling race where he posted the

:31:22. > :31:28.fourth fastest time in history. Mo Farah, the Olympic and world

:31:29. > :31:38.champion, against Asbel Kiprop. Kiprop in front, Mo Farah with a

:31:39. > :31:43.chance of running close to 3.30. 2.45, that is fast! Mo Farah is

:31:44. > :31:54.having a great scrap for second place. And Kiprop crosses and Mo

:31:55. > :32:03.Farah may well have just broken my British record for a 1500 metres.

:32:04. > :32:09.There is one man around here who knows just what it takes to break a

:32:10. > :32:16.world record at 1500 metres. I spoke to Steve Cram area. He has made the

:32:17. > :32:21.decision to go for it. It is because he loves it here. He has run his

:32:22. > :32:25.three fastest times here. His experience last year in that great

:32:26. > :32:29.race, he said to the organisers that he would come back and try to break

:32:30. > :32:36.the world record. Easier said than done. A tough field. He has asked

:32:37. > :32:41.for a tough '' fast pace maker. He has prepared for this. He has got a

:32:42. > :32:47.chance, a slim chance. At what point will you know this is a world

:32:48. > :32:52.record? I want him not to be going as well as he think he needs to go.

:32:53. > :32:59.He has gone through the bell here faster than anybody has done. If he

:33:00. > :33:03.is on that sort of time, we will be getting excited. I am not sure he

:33:04. > :33:08.can last at that. I would like to see him slower than that. Then a big

:33:09. > :33:19.last lap. He has to worry about Souleiman following him around as

:33:20. > :33:22.well. It will be a great race. Of course, you saw Mo Farah broke the

:33:23. > :33:29.British record in that race last year, Steve Cram's British record.

:33:30. > :33:33.At that point we were thinking that maybe he may target 1500 in the

:33:34. > :33:39.Commonwealth Games. He ran the marathon. The good news this week

:33:40. > :33:43.coming out of his camp, from his own Twitter feed, is that he is in good

:33:44. > :33:49.shape. He missed out last weekend on the anniversary games in Glasgow. He

:33:50. > :33:52.is fit and he is raring to go for the Commonwealth Games. He is not

:33:53. > :33:59.going to race this weekend. That is good news. That is good news, we

:34:00. > :34:02.hope. He is coming back from not only injury but sickness as well.

:34:03. > :34:08.You know when you are working hard and pushing your body to the limit,

:34:09. > :34:11.what can happen. You can slip easily down a slippery slope when you are

:34:12. > :34:16.pushing your body to these extremes. I will be happy when I see Mo Farah

:34:17. > :34:21.on that line in Glasgow. I don't care which event he is in. Get him

:34:22. > :34:27.on the line and then you will see me smile. Let's talk about this 1500

:34:28. > :34:33.metres. Souleiman, who won the bronze at the World Championships,

:34:34. > :34:40.will push Kiprop hard. Is this going to be a great race or world record?

:34:41. > :34:46.I hope both. We saw when Steve Cram took onside Oita, it got is an

:34:47. > :34:50.amazing world record. Let's hope it happens again today. Kiprop is

:34:51. > :34:56.looking cool and calm. But he knows he has a huge challenge in just

:34:57. > :35:10.taking the victory. To break this record we are talking 54 93 second

:35:11. > :35:14.laps. Incredible ''... It is always about mid'July, as Steve Cram will

:35:15. > :35:21.tell you, that these records go. All the omens are pointing in that

:35:22. > :35:25.direction. Let's get to commentary. This crowd will have a role to play.

:35:26. > :35:29.They have to get behind them. A bit quiet at the moment. I am not sure

:35:30. > :35:34.they know the significance of what is going on here. Kiprop has said he

:35:35. > :35:40.will set his stall out, he is going to go hard and if it doesn't work

:35:41. > :35:46.out, so be it. Last year he ran brilliantly. It resulted in the

:35:47. > :35:48.stunning 3.27.72. He has got Souleiman tucked in behind him. He

:35:49. > :36:08.will be the big danger. Certainly the Souleiman camp was

:36:09. > :36:15.thinking this could be his day. He has lapsed in behind Kiprop, the

:36:16. > :36:18.Olympic champion. He does not have the pressure of going to the

:36:19. > :36:25.Commonwealth Games. Souleiman is tough. This place looks good. That

:36:26. > :36:28.was too quick. 54 seconds for the first 400 metres. They are going to

:36:29. > :36:39.pay for this somewhere down the line. Kiprop, then Souleiman, still

:36:40. > :36:46.going with this pace. That was way too fast. Pacemaker is get a little

:36:47. > :36:51.bit excited. Let's watch the people further back. They are all running

:36:52. > :37:04.quickly. Coming around now with two laps remaining.

:37:05. > :37:11.They are really strong out. That gives you an indication of how very

:37:12. > :37:18.quick it was, that on in '' and even pace of 55... They dropped off on

:37:19. > :37:25.the second lap. I am not surprised after that 54 first. There is a gap

:37:26. > :37:33.now on Souleiman. He has got about 34 metres on him. There is a gap

:37:34. > :37:37.ahead of the rest. They want to be 3.30 at the bell. I am mature that

:37:38. > :37:44.will be the case. They are well strong out. '' I am not sure. They

:37:45. > :37:54.started to gather behind Kiprop. Souleiman is there. Kiplagat will

:37:55. > :38:03.stop '' Kiplagat. Kiprop knows he has got to kick hard for the

:38:04. > :38:10.frontier. '' to the front. Souleiman beginning to rock 'n' roll a little

:38:11. > :38:14.bit. Kiplagat is still close. Kiprop kicks down the back straight. He

:38:15. > :38:22.will want to put some distance between him and the chasing pack.

:38:23. > :38:29.Kiprop opens up two or three metres. Kiplagat goes past Souleiman. Kiprop

:38:30. > :38:34.and Kiplagat will be joined in the home straight. Kiprop has led this

:38:35. > :38:42.effectively all the way. Look at Silas Kiplagat! He starts to kick

:38:43. > :38:55.away. Kiprop paid for really going to it tonight. Great run. Goodness

:38:56. > :39:03.me, what a last lap! Absolutely stunning. Kiprop, despite the fact

:39:04. > :39:07.it was not what he wanted and he certainly did not want to get beaten

:39:08. > :39:11.by this man, he knew the risk was that he would leave the others

:39:12. > :39:14.through a quick time. And so Kiplagat, with a Diamond League

:39:15. > :39:21.record quicker than we had last year, he is the man who takes all of

:39:22. > :39:37.the plaudits. What a race from him. Kiprop in second place. I am

:39:38. > :39:45.watching the time is coming up. One, never to, three, four, five... Maybe

:39:46. > :39:53.six men on the 3.30. What about this from Kiplagat? He was fuller

:39:54. > :39:57.running. He was. He looked so good in the season so far. Full of

:39:58. > :40:04.confidence. He was not with that early pace. He held it off '' he

:40:05. > :40:07.held off it. That was the difference. He will you did not go

:40:08. > :40:12.with Kiprop. Kiprop really paid in the end. What a wonderful, wonderful

:40:13. > :40:23.piece of tactical running from Kiplagat. Wonderful. Diamond League

:40:24. > :40:31.record. Take that! In days gone by, Zurich, Oslo where

:40:32. > :40:36.the fast tracks, these days it is Monaco. Nick Willis in seventh place

:40:37. > :40:40.ran on the 3.30. The New Zealander has set a new record. We have had

:40:41. > :40:51.amassed a record for Ethiopia and Morocco. No, a personal best, sorry

:40:52. > :40:56.for Morocco. Souleiman with a national record from Djibouti.

:40:57. > :41:02.Devastation from Silas Kiplagat. It looked so easy. Comfortable. Kiprop

:41:03. > :41:04.knew he was there to be shot at if he did not get it right. Look at

:41:05. > :41:27.this, a Diamond League record. Seven men under 3.30. Kiplagat now

:41:28. > :41:38.leads the diamond league. What a 1500 metres. '' the Diamond League.

:41:39. > :41:51.Let's take breath. What a wonderful, wonderful race. Eric Kynard

:41:52. > :41:52.attempting to .30. '' two .30. Silver medallist in the Olympic

:41:53. > :42:08.Games. That was a very nice job. Very

:42:09. > :42:16.quick. '' jump. The faster, shorter men will almost attack it straight

:42:17. > :42:21.on. Two metres and 30. We are at the business end of the high jump

:42:22. > :42:28.already. I am still catching my breath after the 1500 metres. She

:42:29. > :42:49.needs to catch some wind behind her here. Never really looked like it. A

:42:50. > :42:54.big field and the women's pole vaulter. Already whittled down to

:42:55. > :43:06.six who have gone clear at this height. Before we build up to the

:43:07. > :43:14.next race on the track, the women's 100 metres, a quick reflection on

:43:15. > :43:17.that one 1500 metres. You can almost see when the pacemakers go off and

:43:18. > :43:24.it gets strong on like that '' out like that, it is not on. Kiplagat

:43:25. > :43:29.played brilliantly? We said it was going to be a tough race for all of

:43:30. > :43:35.these competitors. We said right at the beginning that whatever happened

:43:36. > :43:41.we were going to get a good time. Nick Willis of New Zealand came

:43:42. > :43:47.over, found out he had dipped under 3.30, John Walker's record, and was

:43:48. > :43:56.whooping and hollering with delight. We were going to tell him we were

:43:57. > :44:00.joking! Down to 10th place in that raise either set a personal best or

:44:01. > :44:05.did something phenomenal. Great race. What we expect to see here.

:44:06. > :44:09.Everything from here now is just reiterating the importance of this

:44:10. > :44:22.track. Athletes taking a deadly serious. Call this one for me. Do

:44:23. > :44:26.you know what, Fraser'Pryce is coming back to form. She's been

:44:27. > :44:32.looking good, she's been coming back. She's had troubled times, but

:44:33. > :44:37.this again, this is a stacked event. Felix has come into this

:44:38. > :44:42.competition. She wants to get back to her glory days of 200 metre

:44:43. > :44:46.running. There are lots of different women here with different agendas,

:44:47. > :44:53.so how it plays out. You are cruel getting me to call it. But Ahoure,

:44:54. > :44:55.she's great too. It's a big race this.

:44:56. > :45:03.Let's go to commentary for the this.

:45:04. > :45:48.women's 100 metres then. Campbell'Brown got away. Look at

:45:49. > :45:55.Fraser'Pryce on the far side. Here comes Bowie through the middle. What

:45:56. > :45:59.a time! 10. 80. Wow! Tell you what, she's promised it and delivered

:46:00. > :46:07.several times this season. A personal best, 10. 91, before she

:46:08. > :46:13.came here, 10. 10.98. Another personal best. Magnificent. Very,

:46:14. > :46:21.very even right the way through to the last 30 or 40 metres. World

:46:22. > :46:28.leading time at 10. 80. And that was superb, absolutely superb, very

:46:29. > :46:33.easy, very even. Fraser'Pryce got a good start. Let's have a look at

:46:34. > :46:51.this. What a last 30 metres or so. Really have enjoyed watching her all

:46:52. > :47:06.season. The last 20, 30 metres, maintains her speed so much better

:47:07. > :47:13.than everybody else. Fraser'Pryce does very, very well.

:47:14. > :47:20.Look at that action. That is a beautiful action from Bowie. Relaxed

:47:21. > :47:26.and really maintaining so well through the last 25 metres. Just

:47:27. > :47:30.watch this. This is somebody who is in great form, racing better than

:47:31. > :47:34.ever in her life and is obviously thoroughly enjoying it. That is the

:47:35. > :47:38.sort of technique you've got when you're in control of the race, when

:47:39. > :47:42.you know you've got it. That was sheer poetry in motion. Absolutely

:47:43. > :47:52.superb. It really was. Great athlete. 10. 8

:47:53. > :48:01.just underlines that fact. Another race stacked with seasoned

:48:02. > :48:09.bests. So this week, the Toris have had a reshuffle and Tori Bowie is

:48:10. > :48:15.reshuffling the order. She is. She's mixing it up, reshuffling! Oh, yes!

:48:16. > :48:22.Her performances have grown with her experience. Now she's the world

:48:23. > :48:30.leader and 10. 8 seconds, phenomenal performance. The commentary boys hit

:48:31. > :48:34.it bang on the nail when they said she's flawless and evidentless. You

:48:35. > :48:38.see no stress or strain on her, nobody's getting close enough to

:48:39. > :48:45.give her the pressure. In Rome she ran 11. 05, looked so relaxed. She's

:48:46. > :48:46.where she wants to be now, fabulous style, a wonderful future one would

:48:47. > :48:52.think. Two years style, a wonderful future one would

:48:53. > :48:56.Games and you wouldn't put your money anywhere else at the moment

:48:57. > :49:03.would you? It's really kind of fragile in that sense, you know.

:49:04. > :49:07.Getting too keen. But there's something about her, she's an

:49:08. > :49:12.athlete you can't help her being fond of. She's lighting up the

:49:13. > :49:15.races. She's enjoying the running. That's what's clear. I guess for the

:49:16. > :49:20.American athletes as well. When you have a season off like this when you

:49:21. > :49:25.can just enjoy your athletes, it takes pressure off them and thaen

:49:26. > :49:29.they enjoy it, Formula One experience along the way, so one to

:49:30. > :49:33.look out for. We can catch up with a bit more field action now before we

:49:34. > :49:41.go back to the track, of the men's 200.

:49:42. > :49:49.This got under way a short while ago. Ratej just below 65 metres

:49:50. > :49:55.there. Ratej is one of those women, all 66s

:49:56. > :50:02.this year. There is a bit of a wind up top. Nothing at track level.

:50:03. > :50:11.There is a bit of a breeze which might help a little. It's got to

:50:12. > :50:22.come over the shoulder from behind. Breeze behind over the throwing arm.

:50:23. > :50:26.Dimitrik, 2.3 metres. Third and final attempt, so this is a very

:50:27. > :50:36.important jump for him. To stay in this competition, the Russian.

:50:37. > :50:48.He attacked that bar so fast and it stayed on. And that. Look at that,

:50:49. > :50:55.he clipped it with his heels but he's still in business. Third and

:50:56. > :51:05.final attempt, he succeeds. A little bit more to do. This is Spotakova,

:51:06. > :51:16.having seen the first effort of 64.84, good enough but not far off

:51:17. > :51:31.the world lead. Spotakova, unbaten so far and

:51:32. > :51:33.rounding into very good form and these conditions may help her a

:51:34. > :51:42.little bit. The Olympic champion, 66.96, a

:51:43. > :51:54.season best for her. Not quite the world lead but not far off, 30 odd

:51:55. > :51:57.centimetres behind. A Barshim supporter. Spotting herself on the

:51:58. > :52:14.big screen. And this is Ryzih. Cleared 4.55, a

:52:15. > :52:24.hiccup at 4. 40, so 4.65 the next target. Ryzih set a personal best in

:52:25. > :52:34.Germany just recently at 4.71 metres. Conditions are very, very

:52:35. > :52:39.good here. Dine nick plant. That's a very fine clearance, very pleased

:52:40. > :52:45.with it '' dynamic. Very nice approach. A positive piece. Plants

:52:46. > :52:53.it and gets back from the pole what she puts into it.

:52:54. > :53:13.Next event on the track is the women's 5,000 metres. Excellent

:53:14. > :53:23.field here. A few Americans who might be chasing the American record

:53:24. > :53:30.in Rasay, Conley. The woman who has had such a year at 1500 metres,

:53:31. > :54:02.Hassan. Cherono, the Diamond race leader.

:54:03. > :54:17.This promises to be a cracking race. Cherono will be hoping she can

:54:18. > :54:28.really take on this race. K ibiwot. Dibaba a little vulnerable. The two

:54:29. > :54:47.pace makers there. I think there's been a bit of

:54:48. > :54:53.kidology going on. Not sure whether Dibaba and some others are bothered

:54:54. > :54:55.about the pace. Come to Monaco for a fast race and they'll be hoping they

:54:56. > :55:51.go out reasonably well. Straight to the back of the field.

:55:52. > :55:57.like it when we get Hassan coming into a race like this, someone like

:55:58. > :56:03.her, to give Dibaba something to think about. If the pace is too

:56:04. > :56:15.slow, Hassan may well contest it at the European Championships, as well

:56:16. > :56:25.as the 1500. She has run under 15 minutes. Ayana's been having a good

:56:26. > :56:35.season. Dibaba knows her really well. Setting the pace.

:56:36. > :56:44.The group was around 69, 70 seconds and are nicely strung out.

:56:45. > :56:47.Interesting to see what Hassan does. Fifth in the World Indoor

:56:48. > :56:53.Championships over 3,000 and has been very, very good at 1500 metres.

:56:54. > :56:59.She won Paris in 3.57, so we know she's got that basic speed and we

:57:00. > :57:04.know she can run 1500. If her pace is slow, she could find it more

:57:05. > :57:11.difficult in the end, but I like Ayana, the Ethiopian. She runs with

:57:12. > :57:20.confidence, has a best of 4.37. If they are looking for the 14.37 pace,

:57:21. > :57:24.she is twoing to be in business. Huddle a little closer. Things are

:57:25. > :57:48.slowing a little. Now not too bad. Ayana leading the

:57:49. > :57:59.main field with Beleta, Dibaba, Cherono. Huddle further back.

:58:00. > :58:11.Nice, even base pace, they'll be hoping for. The pace drops off the

:58:12. > :58:17.three minutes per 1,000 metres. They'll be delighted with that.

:58:18. > :58:20.Let's watch as they come through. That's pretty good for most of the

:58:21. > :58:25.field. Yes, it is. I wonder if Dibaba can

:58:26. > :58:31.perform like she did on the indoor circuit with the three indoor world

:58:32. > :58:35.records. Said it several times, her first race was in Doha. She hassen

:58:36. > :58:40.shown the form that we expect of her yet.

:58:41. > :58:49.'' hasn't shown the form. Just about to complete their three laps. Still

:58:50. > :58:54.lapping in around 71, 72. Slower than they thought. It's helping the

:58:55. > :59:04.Americans in particular and one or two others looking for good times

:59:05. > :59:06.here. It's what they like. Protsenko here now. Second in Lausanne with

:59:07. > :59:26.the personal best of 240. competition and a half on our hands

:59:27. > :59:35.again tonight. It did not look at all like the previous two. It was a

:59:36. > :59:40.very fine execution. Just over three and a half laps completed. The

:59:41. > :59:59.pacemaker doing a good job. Running a fairly sensible pace. Molly Huddle

:00:00. > :00:08.of the United States is up there. We are back at 4.65. This is Fabiana

:00:09. > :00:18.Murer. She really goes for it. That is better. That is very much better.

:00:19. > :00:23.Second attempt at that height. Failed at the first attempt. That

:00:24. > :00:38.will cause a few problems on count back. In second plague '' place. The

:00:39. > :00:43.world champion in 2011. The former World Indoor Championship. A

:00:44. > :00:55.personal best of 4.85 seven San Fernando in 2010. '' set in.

:00:56. > :00:56.Vianna, the smaller of the Ethiopians, effectively leading the

:00:57. > :01:29.pack year. Somewhere they are going to have two

:01:30. > :01:36.place a bit of pressure on here and break this group by little bit.

:01:37. > :01:48.Dibaba's kick has not been as good as we always expected to be in some

:01:49. > :02:00.of these races. '' expect it. That was a quick lap. Linda Stahl in the

:02:01. > :02:16.javelin. Looking at a 60 metre line. She has been very disappointing so

:02:17. > :02:21.far. She didn't look too good there. Just over 60. You could tell from

:02:22. > :02:27.her body language when she released it, there was nothing there. Timing,

:02:28. > :02:45.it was all gone. It almost landed flat. She moves into third place but

:02:46. > :02:55.there is still a long way to go. Kynard in the high jump. We have

:02:56. > :02:59.seen him before. He is looking at 2.34 for the first time. He has got

:03:00. > :03:16.three clearances so far. No, he drifted right the way through

:03:17. > :03:20.the bar. The approach is not quite right. He lost a bit of confidence.

:03:21. > :03:34.That was a poor job, in fact. His first failure at that height.

:03:35. > :03:42.This is an important job. That is a good job. What about that? She

:03:43. > :03:48.proved her competitiveness in Glasgow recently with that personal

:03:49. > :03:53.best equalling jump there. That really is the sign of somebody who

:03:54. > :04:00.is developing in the event. There was nothing wrong in the confidence

:04:01. > :04:06.in that ball. '' vault. Very nice clear and indeed. '' clearance.

:04:07. > :04:27.Fourth place. Hassan looks very tired to me in

:04:28. > :04:38.that second group. You can see Molly Huddle and Sharon ropery.

:04:39. > :04:54.Ayana, Dibaba Cheruyiot... Still on good pace. It is better to build the

:04:55. > :04:59.pace. That is a smart thing to do. Keep the pressure on. Hassan, we

:05:00. > :05:01.thought she may cause a little bit of interest here and a little bit of

:05:02. > :05:09.worry, but she is of interest here and a little bit of

:05:10. > :05:19.specialists. Ayana really putting some pressure on Dibaba. I thought

:05:20. > :05:24.Dibaba looked a bit tired a couple of laps ago. Now Ayana moves out to

:05:25. > :05:40.let them through. This is the start list for the men's long jump.

:05:41. > :05:43.Christian Taylor, of course, is the triple jump Olympic champion in

:05:44. > :05:56.2012. He combines long jump and triple jump. He is just warming up

:05:57. > :06:04.at the moment. As is leagues injure '' Li Jinzhe of China. Menkov is the

:06:05. > :06:32.Russian. Sixth in Lausanne. A couple of World Championship

:06:33. > :06:43.silver medals for the Dutchman. It is a good line competitive. '' macro

:06:44. > :06:55.it is a good line'up. Very competitive.

:06:56. > :07:03.That will set the scene for the rest, I would think. Round about

:07:04. > :07:08.eight metres. He is pretty quick on the runway, this man. He moved to

:07:09. > :07:13.the Netherlands at the age of 18 in 2001. He competed with Sudan until

:07:14. > :07:18.2013 and 2001. He competed with Sudan until

:07:19. > :07:23.citizenship and moved on. Back to the 5000 metres, two laps to go.

:07:24. > :07:39.Ayana has tried to give the lead over a couple of times. Nobody is

:07:40. > :07:47.interested. The first three have five metres in the next athlete. The

:07:48. > :07:57.pace dropped a little and Ayana said, OK, you move it on. They

:07:58. > :08:07.didn't want to. 11.42 through three kilometres. We could be on for a

:08:08. > :08:10.14.30, thereabouts. Does Ayana have enough strength to run from the

:08:11. > :08:25.front? These three polling well away from the West. '' polling well away

:08:26. > :08:35.from the rest. 500 metres remaining. Genzebe Dibaba has not really been

:08:36. > :08:41.able to hit form outdoors so far. See is the world leader in the 5000

:08:42. > :08:43.metres. They take the bell. It is going to be a fairly quick last lap.

:08:44. > :08:57.We could see going to be a fairly quick last lap.

:08:58. > :09:03.Ayana leads. Dibaba in second. Ayana is stretching hard. You have got to

:09:04. > :09:14.give it to her. She has been leading for five laps. Dibaba still there.

:09:15. > :09:19.Ayana trying to master the speed. Dibaba is just talk in there.

:09:20. > :09:26.Doesn't run an inch further than she has two. She will move out only when

:09:27. > :09:31.she has to. We have seen her being in this position and not produce.

:09:32. > :09:38.Has she got something here tonight? Ayana still in front. Dibaba moves

:09:39. > :09:41.on stride for stride. It is not stunning from Dibaba but it may be

:09:42. > :09:49.just enough to take the win. She forges ahead in the last 15 metres.

:09:50. > :09:54.Dibaba gets the win. 14.34 was the winning time. That was hard, that

:09:55. > :10:02.was tough. Ayana with a very worthy second place. Molly Huddle crosses

:10:03. > :10:06.the line and will take the US record by a couple of seconds. We have to

:10:07. > :10:19.wait for the official time. She wins the American battle. Dibaba with

:10:20. > :10:26.14.28.88. Hard work. The real burst of speed we have got used to seeing

:10:27. > :10:31.from wasn't manifest. This was about strength and endurance. Dibaba has

:10:32. > :10:37.got both. Every quick last lap. One expected that. She is nowhere near

:10:38. > :10:49.the indoor form, despite that very quick time. This is the first race,

:10:50. > :11:01.incidentally, of the world league. It will stand as the meet record in

:11:02. > :11:06.years to come. She is hurting, absolutely hurting. Ayana mealy ''

:11:07. > :11:15.Willie made her work. She did a lot of the leading.

:11:16. > :11:20.The body language tells you everything. Ayana looks a bit more

:11:21. > :11:27.comfortable. But the race had gone by then. Dibaba with a very fine

:11:28. > :11:36.when indeed. We have two handed to her. '' we have to hand it to her. A

:11:37. > :11:59.fabulous performance by her and Diana. '' Ayana.

:12:00. > :12:08.Another fantastic field producing a world lead in the season's best.

:12:09. > :12:17.Here are the highlights so far this evening. No world record for Asbel

:12:18. > :12:23.Kiprop in the 1500 metres. He was beaten by Silas Kiplagat. It was a

:12:24. > :12:29.cracking race. Seven in the field dipped under three minutes and 30

:12:30. > :12:32.seconds. David Rudisha continues his journey back to top form. He

:12:33. > :12:39.produced a time under one minute .43 tonight. '' one minute and 43

:12:40. > :12:46.seconds. Amos was the winner in another high'quality field. And the

:12:47. > :12:49.fastest women in the world lined up in the 100 metres and the woman who

:12:50. > :12:59.is heading that at the moment is the USA's Tori Bowie. Another world

:13:00. > :13:06.lead. We have had some great field events. Right now behind us, the

:13:07. > :13:12.men's's high jump is hotting up. More of that in a moment. First, the

:13:13. > :13:17.men's discus. In third place, Gerd Kanter of

:13:18. > :13:27.Estonia, the Olympic champion in 2008 and world champion in 2007. His

:13:28. > :13:34.fifth round throw was in fact his best. He led the competition for a

:13:35. > :13:50.while. Season's best, incidentally. Kantor, former champion. In second

:13:51. > :13:54.place, the Cuban Hernandez. He has got the best of 66.50 of the season.

:13:55. > :14:09.That was good enough for second place. Malachowski, the poll '' the

:14:10. > :14:15.Polish thrower... He has 66 in the fifth round. According to my record,

:14:16. > :14:22.he is very quick. A solid citizen, technically very good. It was a very

:14:23. > :14:43.strong series ended. 65.84 was his best. That was in the third round.

:14:44. > :14:52.Next of it is the men's 110 metres hurdles. One of the biggest names in

:14:53. > :15:07.French track and field takes on two greats.

:15:08. > :15:16.He's tearing away here. Oh, my goodness. It's a new world record.

:15:17. > :15:24.Another person best. Finally gets his hands on a World

:15:25. > :15:40.Championship gold. Another incredibly strong field,

:15:41. > :15:48.Colin. We have the world record holder who hasn't even run in Europe

:15:49. > :15:52.yet. Lagarde record time. It's going to be a tough one to call but I'll

:15:53. > :16:01.ask you to do it though. Has to go to the Frenchman. Has to be the man,

:16:02. > :16:06.Lagarde, who's been the most consistent. Confident in his press

:16:07. > :16:12.conference yesterday. When you are in a real purple patch, as he's

:16:13. > :16:19.demonstrating now, it's easy to show that confidence. But he's possibly,

:16:20. > :16:22.or this is possibly the most talented field in Monaco. It's a

:16:23. > :16:29.talented race one.

:16:30. > :16:31.Let's join our commentators. Riley, eighth in the World

:16:32. > :17:01.Championships. Oliver didn't get away particularly

:17:02. > :17:08.well. Lagarde in the centre looks to be coming away nicely.

:17:09. > :17:16.Lagarde and Ortega. Watch the clock. 12.96! Wow. He's done it again!

:17:17. > :17:24.Taken his personal best from 13.05 to 12.96, that is magnificent

:17:25. > :17:29.hurdling, just short of when he was beaten in Paris when the lead was

:17:30. > :17:36.set there. That is a sensational piece of hurdling. Ortega too was

:17:37. > :17:45.going well. A very fine race. Ortega got there. 13.01 personal best

:17:46. > :17:52.Ortega. But this man becomes yet another sub 13110 metre hurdler.

:17:53. > :17:59.That is superb. Absolutely superb. The second French national record.

:18:00. > :18:14.It was a good race though. Oliver not a good start. All the action in

:18:15. > :18:19.the middle and Ortega gave him a great race. Look how powerful he is.

:18:20. > :18:23.Holds it really well. He's a tall man, got that kind of forward lean,

:18:24. > :18:28.but his hurdling technique is really good. He makes room for the hurdle

:18:29. > :18:32.as well. He pulls it through, gets down to the ground quick and that's

:18:33. > :18:35.what you have to do in the hurdle. It's the trail leg that brings the

:18:36. > :18:39.lead leg down and he's so good at it. Stuttering to the next hurdle.

:18:40. > :18:43.That's always a good sign, you have to make room and make your way to

:18:44. > :18:46.the next hurdle and sometimes they get there too quickly. Merritt

:18:47. > :18:54.thought that in his world record, he said it was almost dangerous.

:18:55. > :19:02.It's fantastic to see him set that French record. That was always in

:19:03. > :19:07.the back of his mind. He's wanted to two quickly. The advice I gave him

:19:08. > :19:22.was to be a winner. That is the most important thing.

:19:23. > :19:25.Beating the French record that once belonged to the former world

:19:26. > :19:40.champion. Real class. A real great performance by Pascal

:19:41. > :19:45.Lagarde. He enjoys it, he's in that purple

:19:46. > :19:52.patch and what a performance. That nails his diamond league as well.

:19:53. > :19:58.I don't think anybody can catch him, he's so dominant. Always brilliant.

:19:59. > :20:03.Do you understand what he said? Yes, he said it's all because of you. He

:20:04. > :20:07.said it in French, he may have said see you later in the bar Colin for a

:20:08. > :20:11.drink, but matching up to the quality field we are seeing here

:20:12. > :20:16.tonight, the conditions, the track, the atmosphere, it really is turning

:20:17. > :20:21.into one of the Diamond Leagues of the season? Yes, you are right. The

:20:22. > :20:25.athletes come here, they enjoy themselves because the conditions

:20:26. > :20:28.are virtually always perfect. You get quality line'ups, like we saw in

:20:29. > :20:34.the hurdles, quality line'ups in the 1500 metres and 80 Metres, you get

:20:35. > :20:37.the remarkable performances. For me, with Pascal there, I hope he didn't

:20:38. > :20:42.rest there, I think he can get a couple more sub 13 seconds under his

:20:43. > :20:48.belt. Zurich is an opportunity for him to be really good. So for me,

:20:49. > :20:50.it's taking a breath. Let's calm down and look at the women's pole

:20:51. > :20:59.vault. Oh, yes, what a competition she is

:21:00. > :21:04.having at the moment. Absolutely superb.

:21:05. > :21:17.That is something else. 480 her best this season. 485 is her

:21:18. > :21:25.personal best, r, so she's on her way. That looked good.

:21:26. > :21:36.So she heads the table in the pole fault, Murer.

:21:37. > :21:46.Chris Tomlinson in the long jump. He's had an injury after a solid

:21:47. > :21:52.8.24 which put him back in the world's best this year, 8.23, excuse

:21:53. > :22:00.me. That's a solid, decent effort early on. We saw 7. 99. This is the

:22:01. > :22:05.second run from Tomlinson. That is an improvement. Moving up

:22:06. > :22:33.the rankings. 7. 94. Just checking the board there.

:22:34. > :22:41.Confirmation of that, 7. 94, putting him in third place.

:22:42. > :22:49.Kimberley Mickle. Just over 60 metres thus far.

:22:50. > :22:54.Let us see what she does there. Oh, yes, that's better. That's certainly

:22:55. > :23:00.beyon the 60 metre line, as you can see for yourself.

:23:01. > :23:38.That looks around about 62 or 63. 62.94.

:23:39. > :23:49.There is the line'up for the women's 800 metres. Should be a good one

:23:50. > :23:55.too. The women's 800 metres up next on

:23:56. > :24:00.the track. Judd will be in the European Championships for Great

:24:01. > :24:05.Britain, her selection confirmed on Tuesday. She's up against a top

:24:06. > :24:12.class field. She deserves to be in there. In that field, there are very

:24:13. > :24:22.few women who have under two minutes. Really incredibly tight

:24:23. > :24:28.race. They'll be thinking, it's our time soon. They come on to the

:24:29. > :24:30.track, it's a busy crowded stadium. You get really inspire and

:24:31. > :24:56.motivated. The races have come from truly hot

:24:57. > :25:04.competitive racing. We may see that here today. Collette us see what

:25:05. > :25:12.Jessica Judd of Great Britain can do in this field. Of course, she's won

:25:13. > :25:15.medals at junior level at World Championships and is making that

:25:16. > :25:19.step on to the senior arena now. Let's catch up with Steve and

:25:20. > :25:33.Stuart. Sum has dominated this event this

:25:34. > :25:38.season so far. World champion la year. Looked confident in the way

:25:39. > :25:43.she performed on the track last season. We shall see how she goes

:25:44. > :25:58.here and whether she can maintain the form. There is the pace'maker.

:25:59. > :26:25.I think some might prefer 57 for the pace here. Yes.

:26:26. > :26:34.Sum has really gone with the pacemaker, she really has. Wilson is

:26:35. > :26:38.looking to lead that pack. They are all very much bunching down the back

:26:39. > :26:42.straight, Steve, and this is going to be a tough race indeed and all of

:26:43. > :26:58.a sudden the pace has gone up far too quickly and the rest have

:26:59. > :27:03.detached? Some must have said, go steady, maintain and give yourself

:27:04. > :27:07.something to work with. This is the pacemaker for the rest of the field.

:27:08. > :27:11.It's going to be quick through 400 metres. The rest are gathering on

:27:12. > :27:18.her shoulder. We have seen her so many times control it from the

:27:19. > :27:29.front. 58 and a half here. The others 59 seconds, one minute.

:27:30. > :27:34.Nanyondo is there, as they go down the back straight. Interesting to

:27:35. > :27:38.see whether Sum is attacked by Wilson early or whether Wilson

:27:39. > :27:43.waits. Wilson looks as though she's going to go at the moment as the

:27:44. > :27:48.pace will drop soon. On the inside, it's Nanyondo, who is really putting

:27:49. > :27:56.the pressure on, as Wilson chases Sum. Sum, Wilson, Beckwith in fourth

:27:57. > :28:01.position, of the United States, with 120 metres to go. This is going to

:28:02. > :28:10.be Wilson versus Sum as they come on to the straight. Wilson, the

:28:11. > :28:18.American champion. Sum and Wilson looks comfortable. Wilson wins it,

:28:19. > :28:22.Sum in second. Third place was Nanyondo of Uganda.

:28:23. > :28:26.It's another quick one. Last lap of 60.02.

:28:27. > :28:32.But Wilson impressed me in Glasgow. You saw the race too, Steve, and I

:28:33. > :28:35.thought she might be a threat, but Sum has dominated through the season

:28:36. > :28:41.and I guess she'll be a bit upset by that? Yes. She gets better and

:28:42. > :28:47.better, this young lady. She's come through the junior ranks. She's

:28:48. > :28:52.developing much better. Good race. She can run from the front. Today

:28:53. > :28:56.she put herself in a position to attack Sum. Sum will probably go

:28:57. > :29:00.away to her friend and say thanks for nothing really in the pace

:29:01. > :29:04.making but Wilson is strong, she was there to be shot at in Glasgow and

:29:05. > :29:11.held everybody off and today she's come through really strong. Look how

:29:12. > :29:17.relaxed she is there. I reckon she's run close to negative splits, not

:29:18. > :29:23.negative splits but close person laps. Strong on the second lap and

:29:24. > :29:27.Wilson's done that better than anybody and that's the first time

:29:28. > :29:37.we've seen Sum under pressure and get beat. Look at the face of

:29:38. > :29:46.Wilson. She won the American title. She was in Moscow last year. She has

:29:47. > :29:47.come on this season. Wonderful. Well she might smile because that was a

:29:48. > :30:15.comfortable run indeed. Another world-class field producing

:30:16. > :30:19.another world-class race. Jessica, come in here a little bit. The girls

:30:20. > :30:27.are trying to get their official times. You are shattered. That was

:30:28. > :30:37.tough? It was tough. I don't know what happened. I just died. I tried

:30:38. > :30:43.everything. I am really disappointed. Your time has been

:30:44. > :30:55.rounded down. It is another sob two minute run? Oh, that is good! Oh,

:30:56. > :31:13.right! OK! How was your race? I always raced to rain -- win, so that

:31:14. > :31:20.was pretty rubbish! I want to try to inspire as much as I can. You were

:31:21. > :31:24.doing that and at the same time it is now about racing. How you manage

:31:25. > :31:31.your races. That is only going to come with more experience of these

:31:32. > :31:35.kinds of fields? I hope so. I just feel pretty rubbish. But if I feel

:31:36. > :31:44.rubbish and still run under two, I am happy. Hopefully I will feel good

:31:45. > :31:55.in Glasgow. My aim is 1.58. Still some work to do. Go back to a G

:31:56. > :32:01.Wilson. You are both together in the juniors. I want to be her one-day!

:32:02. > :32:08.She beats me every time! I will go back and work harder. See how her

:32:09. > :32:11.mood can change! It is about managing those races and getting

:32:12. > :32:23.that experience. Let's get back out on the field and catch This is Derek

:32:24. > :32:29.Drouin in the high jump. 2.34 a while ago. A few struggling at this

:32:30. > :32:47.height. That is better! Very languid. When

:32:48. > :32:51.he is jumping really well it looks under control, doesn't attack too

:32:52. > :32:57.hard. Nice and steady. That is a good clearance. Yes, the commitment

:32:58. > :33:16.is total. He was relaxed on the approach. What can the Greek athlete

:33:17. > :33:23.do here? The final attempt at 4.56. No no no. She is gone. She is going

:33:24. > :33:28.to be in third place, eating -- equalling the national record. She

:33:29. > :33:39.has done well today. She got the 4.71 on her first attempt. Very well

:33:40. > :33:45.done. Protsenko, what a season he has had. He needs to go clear to

:33:46. > :33:54.stay in this. He is over! That is better. Protsenko... I remember

:33:55. > :34:03.seeing him earlier this year and he did not look this sort of jumper.

:34:04. > :34:10.You weren't exactly thinking he would develop into one of the finds

:34:11. > :34:20.of the season. But he has. You can just see their Justin Gatlin.

:34:21. > :34:23.Ashmeade of Jamaica beside him in lane eight. He is perhaps the

:34:24. > :34:32.outstanding runner heading into the Commonwealth Games. It is another

:34:33. > :34:46.strong field, Colin? This is a solid feel. Justin Gatlin questioned lane

:34:47. > :34:48.seven. He said he wanted to be on the outside lane because it gives

:34:49. > :34:51.them the opportunity to get under the home straight as quickly as he

:34:52. > :35:03.possibly can, so he can get into that long rangy running stance of

:35:04. > :35:05.his. Christophe Lemaitre will be looking at the European

:35:06. > :35:13.Championships. And Tyson Gay is back in here. The man who is returning.

:35:14. > :35:32.Controversial. This is going to be a tough old race. It could possibly be

:35:33. > :35:40.a world lead. Let's see if it lives up to Jackson's billing.

:35:41. > :35:43.The home crowd hoping that Christophe Lemaitre can give them

:35:44. > :35:48.something else to cheer on what has been a fantastic night for the

:35:49. > :36:00.French. Two national records. Christophe Lemaitre lit yet to go on

:36:01. > :36:05.the 22nd this season. Warren Weir, 19.82 in New York, the fastest in

:36:06. > :36:10.the world this year. Gatling is in lane seven. He is happy with that

:36:11. > :36:16.lane. He has Ashmeade to chase in lane eight. Good draw for those two.

:36:17. > :36:20.Tyson Gay, maybe a little bit more difficult in three. Lemaitre in six.

:36:21. > :36:34.The men's 200 metres. A lot of noise. They get away

:36:35. > :36:41.safely. Tyson Gay going incredibly fast around the tight -- top bend.

:36:42. > :36:55.Justin Gatlin running really wide on the bend. Gatling is going to win!

:36:56. > :37:00.19.68! Goodness me! Into a headwind? You are kidding me! He was

:37:01. > :37:08.struggling to control that all the way around the bend. They still runs

:37:09. > :37:14.19.68. That puts him in the top ten of all time at 200 metres. A world

:37:15. > :37:23.lead, of course. The strutting Justin Gatlin, another controversial

:37:24. > :37:30.figure. Somehow he is running faster than he has ever done before. 19.68.

:37:31. > :37:36.And Justin Gatlin, at the age of 32, has produced a remarkable 200 metres

:37:37. > :37:44.performance tonight. It was, wasn't it? He had a fabulous bend. His

:37:45. > :37:50.transition wasn't particularly good. It was solid. He was on the outside

:37:51. > :37:58.of his lane. He probably touched the lane body did not interfere with

:37:59. > :38:04.anybody. -- but he did not. Look how wide he is. He was struggling. He is

:38:05. > :38:12.really worried. He wants that line quick. Really quick. A fabulous run.

:38:13. > :38:21.Nothing pretty about it. Truly aggressive from a muscle man. He

:38:22. > :38:26.looks leaner than he ever used to. Maybe he should have been doing this

:38:27. > :38:31.sort of stuff along time ago. He was really trying to hold it off the

:38:32. > :38:35.bend. Down the home straight, look at that. It did not matter if you

:38:36. > :38:39.stepped over the line, he was not going to gain an advantage. He was

:38:40. > :38:49.almost imbalanced. He could have gone slightly quicker there.

:38:50. > :38:53.Justin Gatlin ran a sensational 100 metres earlier this year. The second

:38:54. > :39:03.fastest time of the year. I spoke to his coach earlier and he said that

:39:04. > :39:08.he was going to run a hell of a 1.70 and just hang on. That is exactly

:39:09. > :39:12.what he did. Out of the blocks hard. Came down the home straight. He

:39:13. > :39:17.staggered into the line. He was looking around with 30 metres

:39:18. > :39:24.remaining. Look at that time. In sensational world lead. Smashed his

:39:25. > :39:33.own personal best. He is looking leaner. He is looking obviously very

:39:34. > :39:37.strong as well. He must read out of his lane for most of it. If you can

:39:38. > :39:43.work on that bed and stay in his own lane, he could take it down further.

:39:44. > :39:48.Sensational year, sprinting wise. It would be a long lap of honour for

:39:49. > :39:56.him. He is out there and he has got his phone. He is taking selfies with

:39:57. > :40:05.his phone. I don't expect we will see him any time soon. What we would

:40:06. > :40:09.love to see here is that he was really unsure. He blasted out of the

:40:10. > :40:14.blocks and thought, I have just got to get out there. Let himself be the

:40:15. > :40:20.man to beat. He just kept going and going and going. Lots of the

:40:21. > :40:25.athletes beside him know what his legs are like. He has got the

:40:26. > :40:27.fastest 100 metres in the world. It was about hanging on when he knew

:40:28. > :40:33.people were going to be coming at him. The most skilled and confident

:40:34. > :40:36.200 metres runners. With his leg speed and his turnover he could

:40:37. > :40:43.demonstrate what he has done before and hang on in there. Incredible

:40:44. > :40:50.time. 19.68. He will be thinking to himself, well, when he goes to bed

:40:51. > :40:56.tonight. At 32, what is he doing to bring his time down? He is looking

:40:57. > :41:04.leaner. Has he changed his training? Is about the consistency of racing.

:41:05. > :41:09.You need to race and race and race. When you have done your winter work,

:41:10. > :41:13.go out and compete. You cannot replicate that in training. You need

:41:14. > :41:18.to get out there more and more. Otherwise you are never going to get

:41:19. > :41:23.there. Justin has been racing very sensibly this year as far as I am

:41:24. > :41:30.concerned and he has done -- he has got his just rewards. Let's go back

:41:31. > :41:35.out onto the field. got his just rewards. Let's go

:41:36. > :41:44.What an evening of athletics so far. Still a bit too come. Barbora

:41:45. > :41:53.Spotakova. Class javelin throwing so far. 64.84 in the first round. Then

:41:54. > :41:59.the big throw. Another 66.66 after the foul. Now she can really let go

:42:00. > :42:11.this time. See if the world record-holder. She is a 70 metres

:42:12. > :42:18.thrower. Look at that. Just over 65. She is pleased with it but she knows

:42:19. > :42:23.how close the timing is to go beyond that 66 and 67 metres. It is almost

:42:24. > :42:33.right. Not quite. That is a very successful day's work for a Barbora

:42:34. > :42:38.Spotakova of the Czech Republic. Few competitions. She started a family

:42:39. > :42:54.last year. Young Janet was born in the spring of last year.

:42:55. > :43:17.There are the points for the Diamond League. A great return for

:43:18. > :43:21.Spotakova. We have only got two field events still going on. The

:43:22. > :43:30.men's high jump. The long jump has been disappointing so far.

:43:31. > :43:39.Morales has been having an up and down year. He will be close. The

:43:40. > :43:47.Mexican. Right on the border. Pretty much perfect. Bronze medallist in

:43:48. > :44:02.Moscow last year when he had a massive season. 8.46 last season.

:44:03. > :44:04.Nowhere near that this year. 7.99. The 7.81 in the fourth-round puts

:44:05. > :44:16.him in the lead in the latter stages of the men's jump.

:44:17. > :44:22.Barshim in the high jump now. Heights that mere mortals would not

:44:23. > :44:48.attempt. 2.37. No failures so far. Oh, big, big clearance. That's 2.40

:44:49. > :44:57.jumping if ever I saw it. Look at this. He's way, way over. Such a

:44:58. > :45:10.confident young man. He seems to take off so much further away.

:45:11. > :45:14.It's almost resolved in the way he takes off. Roughly the same place,

:45:15. > :45:38.to be honest. Jager will be going for the American

:45:39. > :45:45.record. Second big race back after injury.

:45:46. > :46:16.Doing so well this year. It was the women's event here last

:46:17. > :46:21.weekend. There is Koech.

:46:22. > :46:34.A few injuries this year. I think he might just be ready to come back and

:46:35. > :46:36.challenge Kipruto, the 28-year-old. Birech and Kemboi know each other

:46:37. > :46:58.really well. Birech has asked for this quick

:46:59. > :47:03.pace, 82.37. Set in Oslo. Perfect conditions here tonight. We've seen

:47:04. > :47:13.so many - this has been another one of those fabulous nights many

:47:14. > :47:18.Monaco. Last event of the evening on the track, the men's 3,000 metre

:47:19. > :47:31.superchase. Two men on the outside given the task of going through at

:47:32. > :47:36.good pace. Lagat is just moving on the outside there. A very, very good

:47:37. > :47:44.pacemaker. These two could do a really good job. I think to get a

:47:45. > :47:59.fast time, we need them to be right up there.

:48:00. > :48:09.Jager, the American, got himself in the mix early on. I remember the

:48:10. > :48:13.race in 2011, we watched a race, 7. 53, 6 #4rks missed the world record

:48:14. > :48:18.by 100th of a second and really, that was a great run. I'm hoping we

:48:19. > :48:29.can get something near that. It would be rather nice if we could get

:48:30. > :48:31.sub eight here. It's almost as though the pacemaker wants to get on

:48:32. > :48:45.with this. This is the long jump, final round.

:48:46. > :49:07.Gaisah there. Still his best. He'll know that's

:49:08. > :49:11.not really far enough. Chore Long jump hasn't lived up to

:49:12. > :49:18.expectations, although the be fair, the men's long jump has been a

:49:19. > :49:21.little disappointing generally. Back to the race. They have been

:49:22. > :49:24.stretched out so early. You have got to be careful of that, that you are

:49:25. > :49:36.not going too hard too soon. Birech getting involved really

:49:37. > :49:43.early. Step back from that at the moment. Yes, Kynard attempting 2.

:49:44. > :49:50.#40rks so we are really at the business end now. Cleared 2. 34 on

:49:51. > :49:57.his third attempt. Past the 2.37, straight on to 2. 40. Three attempts

:49:58. > :50:05.at the previous height. So this is asking an awful lot from him.

:50:06. > :50:18.Nowhere near on that. That is his first failure at his new height.

:50:19. > :50:20.2.40. We are now within range of the 2.42, the best height achieved this

:50:21. > :50:37.year. There's the evidence. This is

:50:38. > :50:43.Morales. Sixth and final jump in this long jump competition. As Steve

:50:44. > :50:48.said, it's not really given us the sort of standard that we are used to

:50:49. > :51:10.in the event over the years. Christian Taylor incidentally has

:51:11. > :51:26.788. But Morales in that final jump goes

:51:27. > :51:31.to eight metres, leading at the moment.

:51:32. > :51:40.The competition hasn't really woken up in some of the events tonight. It

:51:41. > :51:48.has woken up here because Lagat did a good job. The pace wasn't kept

:51:49. > :51:53.going. It's all about this man, Birech and as soon as he realised

:51:54. > :52:02.Kimboi couldn't keep the pace going, he went out there on his own. Jage

:52:03. > :52:12.re is behind him. Lagat is shouting him on.

:52:13. > :52:27.Birech. Bondarenko in the high jump a couple of minutes ago.

:52:28. > :52:32.Attempting 2.40. Oh yes. Bondarenko jumps into the lead. He's got the

:52:33. > :52:38.clearance and it's a first-time clearance as well. The record of

:52:39. > :52:42.2.40. The previous height 2.37 was a beating record. It was extended by

:52:43. > :52:48.three centimetres, so there you've got it. Past at 2.37 and he's in the

:52:49. > :53:00.lead. 2.42 for the second kilometre, 590

:53:01. > :53:04.for two thousand. Birech is going to have to work really hard here. Two

:53:05. > :53:09.laps to go. Still within sight but he's going to have to pick something

:53:10. > :53:18.out. Got to find something really

:53:19. > :53:25.special. He did attack it, you can't say he didn't. He need some support.

:53:26. > :53:31.It's been a big race over the last one thousand metres. Somebody breaks

:53:32. > :53:35.away on the last lap or leaves it until the home straight but this is

:53:36. > :53:43.tough for Birech. A bit of work to do to get back to

:53:44. > :53:50.his form. He's had time out with injury. He's a good 30, 40 metres

:53:51. > :53:53.behind his team-mate. So Birech with just over 500 metres to go. Just

:53:54. > :53:58.starting to see the time slip a little bit. Can he pick it up? It's

:53:59. > :54:01.going to be difficult. I've seen him do this several time this is season.

:54:02. > :54:06.It really is tough and he's faded in the latter stages of the race. It

:54:07. > :54:10.looked in the mid part like he was very strong.

:54:11. > :54:16.Very close, no doubt about that. There is no doubt whatsoever, 6.58,

:54:17. > :54:23.59, so eight minutes is on, that's for sure.

:54:24. > :54:30.Lagat pointed at the clock and said, look, come on, 60 seconds, last lap.

:54:31. > :54:35.So can Birech do it? He's attacking much better now. He's got to be

:54:36. > :54:41.tired. Can he try and find a bit extra here? It will be a massive

:54:42. > :54:54.last lap if he can do so. Less than 400 metres, as Jage re has been

:54:55. > :55:03.passed. It's going to be oh, so close. - Jager. It looks as though

:55:04. > :55:08.it might be slipping away from him. One more barrier to go and he's not

:55:09. > :55:12.going to run inside eight minutes. Tries to pick it up after the last

:55:13. > :55:18.hurdle and Birech out there for so long on his own. It's going to be

:55:19. > :55:32.agonisingly close to his personal best. Just outside at 8.03.33.

:55:33. > :55:48.A season's best there for Kiprouto but not for Birech. It's been

:55:49. > :55:52.phenomenal. We have seen Bondarenko there clearing 2.40. We've only got

:55:53. > :55:57.a few seconds left and it's still coming thick and fast! The quality

:55:58. > :56:00.is so high, ten guys registered in the competition at 2.34 metres. That

:56:01. > :56:04.is the quality of this event. That is why we are going into the high

:56:05. > :56:11.jump and we have already got one over 1 2.40. It's a strong world

:56:12. > :56:21.class field. You can see the results on the BBC website. Highlight of the

:56:22. > :56:27.evening? Wow, it has to be the men's 110 metres, Lagarde. Mine is went to

:56:28. > :56:32.Tori Bowie and a strong men's 1500 metre race as well. Good one.

:56:33. > :56:35.Absolutely. It's been fantastic enjoying this with you Colin this

:56:36. > :56:37.evening. Another great diamond league here in Monaco. See you next

:56:38. > :56:44.time.
