:00:55. > :01:04.Their getaway first time. Look at Usain Bolt! Usain Bolt streaking

:01:05. > :01:08.away from the field. The Olympic champion, the world record-holder,

:01:09. > :01:17.here's leaving them trailing. That is superfast. Unbelievable.

:01:18. > :01:24.Absolutely unbelievable. Usain Bolt runs the quickest 150m ever

:01:25. > :01:30.performed on the planet. He is not bad, is he? Good afternoon. Welcome

:01:31. > :01:34.to a weekend of sporting action. Tomorrow, it is all about endurance,

:01:35. > :01:39.the Great Manchester Run. Today's speed is the name of the game and in

:01:40. > :01:47.particular this little tongue twister. Can the beast beat Usain

:01:48. > :01:59.Bolt's best? Try saying that fast. I try and imagine... I finally get the

:02:00. > :02:10.chance. He likes to be known as the Beast. I feel really good. I am

:02:11. > :02:22.really good on the straight and I picked up real quick. You never

:02:23. > :02:26.know. The scene once again set on Manchester's Main Street,

:02:27. > :02:32.transformed into a speed tunnel. Yohan Blake has his eyes set on

:02:33. > :02:37.Usain Bolt's 150m world best set here five years ago to the day. If

:02:38. > :02:41.he does it, he will have run the fastest race in history. All will be

:02:42. > :02:47.explained later. Blake is the star attraction. The Brits are out in

:02:48. > :02:53.force too. Olympic champion Greg Rutherford is fresh from breaking

:02:54. > :02:57.the British record. Or so he thought until team-mate Chris Tomlinson

:02:58. > :03:03.questioned its validity. They go head to head. More straightforward

:03:04. > :03:11.any women's 200m. Christine Ohurogu running her first race on British

:03:12. > :03:16.soil in 2014. In the men's 100m, the attention will fall on Richard

:03:17. > :03:20.Kilty, Britain's new star. And the man who cites Michael Jackson as one

:03:21. > :03:26.of his greatest influences will be looking to round off the afternoon

:03:27. > :03:28.with a thriller. Here is the timetable. First up, the men's long

:03:29. > :03:42.jump. Richard Kilty in the men's 100m.

:03:43. > :03:48.Then Christine Ohurogu at 2:30pm. Then the record attempt with Yohan

:03:49. > :03:52.Blake at 2:40pm. Alongside me to take it all in and give us the

:03:53. > :03:55.expert view, Denise Lewis and Colin Jackson.

:03:56. > :04:02.It is glorious. The weather is fantastic. We know we will get good

:04:03. > :04:10.athletics today. The athletes love this event. It is personal, the

:04:11. > :04:15.streets are lined. Yohan Blake will love this weather. It is outstanding

:04:16. > :04:18.weather. Where we are standing, you can feel the beautiful tailwind

:04:19. > :04:27.behind us. The sprinters will enjoy this. Looking back to 2009 when

:04:28. > :04:34.Usain Bolt broke the world best. It was raining. Maybe, just maybe,

:04:35. > :04:39.Yohan Blake has got a chance. I think so. He would not be here if he

:04:40. > :04:43.did not feel he was race sharp and ready. As Colin said, the conditions

:04:44. > :04:48.are great. It is wonderful to have him back. We missed him last season

:04:49. > :04:54.because of injury. This will be a great test for him. The noise coming

:04:55. > :04:58.out of Blake's camp is that he is ready. He loves competing. When he

:04:59. > :05:05.is the focus of attention... It is rare. The big guy, what is his name

:05:06. > :05:11.again? Usain Bolt. Let us hope you can produce the performance that is

:05:12. > :05:16.akin to the publicity he is getting. That will be the finale. First, the

:05:17. > :05:20.men's long jump. Great start to the season for Greg Rutherford. The

:05:21. > :05:28.gloss taken off the British record with the controversy.

:05:29. > :05:32.Most people when they manage to perform at a high level, they feel

:05:33. > :05:38.as if it is easier to do it again. Now it is about jumping the

:05:39. > :05:44.distances regularly and doing it in major championships to win medals.

:05:45. > :05:48.Given how important 8.51 was to you, how disappointed would you be

:05:49. > :05:53.if it was not ratified? I cannot think of any way it will not be, but

:05:54. > :05:58.if it wasn't, it would be a matter of doing it again and hopefully

:05:59. > :06:02.doing it a few times. I went to a very good level of competition, I

:06:03. > :06:07.jumped against top guys and managed to beat them. If it is not ratified,

:06:08. > :06:13.I know I have done that, everybody else who saw it know I have gone

:06:14. > :06:16.that far. The main protagonist has been Chris Tomlinson who is no

:06:17. > :06:22.longer the co-British record holder. Have you been surprised he has been

:06:23. > :06:26.so vocal about it? I would not say I was surprised. If you look back to

:06:27. > :06:31.Moscow last year, there was quite a few things said then as well. On one

:06:32. > :06:36.level, I am not surprised. It is not how I would approach things. But

:06:37. > :06:40.each to their own. If I did not say anything, it would be a case of, you

:06:41. > :06:45.are a coward, you should have said something. If I do say something, a

:06:46. > :06:49.lot of people will agree with me but certain people say, it is not your

:06:50. > :06:53.place to say anything. I am stuck between a rock and a hard place.

:06:54. > :07:01.From my point of view, I leave it down to the people. I get on with

:07:02. > :07:03.it. -- down to other people. There is nothing like

:07:04. > :07:09.it. -- down to other people. There controversy. Apparently, they have

:07:10. > :07:15.made up. What have you made of this whole... Not a brilliant situation.

:07:16. > :07:23.It is not good. It is not very gracious of Chris to have an

:07:24. > :07:27.opinion. Greg apparently jumped the distance. It is great for his

:07:28. > :07:30.confidence and come back to make sure he knows there is a big jump in

:07:31. > :07:36.him. I think it was great to see the result. Whether it stands is another

:07:37. > :07:39.thing. For me, it was brilliant. Chris should focus on his own

:07:40. > :07:42.performances. He cannot interfere with anything else another athlete

:07:43. > :07:49.is doing. It is a good talking point, but for me, Chris, focus on

:07:50. > :07:53.your sport. Speaking to break yesterday, there was a sort of very

:07:54. > :08:01.relaxed demeanour about him, a confidence that jumping over 8.5 has

:08:02. > :08:05.brought. He has had his troubles. Predominantly, he has been the

:08:06. > :08:09.champion, he knows he has got big jumps in him. He has proved it for

:08:10. > :08:14.himself. Now it is just about getting the consistency, making sure

:08:15. > :08:18.he continues to prove himself even though in his mind he has avoided on

:08:19. > :08:23.that. Here's the Olympic champion. I want to see him come out today and

:08:24. > :08:28.have some fun and jump well. Let us move the sun. It is nice to have two

:08:29. > :08:35.guys in the British team who are jumping well will stop -- who are

:08:36. > :08:45.jumping well. Greg will need to put down a decent distance. It is still

:08:46. > :08:49.the start of the season. Let him do that at the Commonwealth, the

:08:50. > :08:54.European Championships. It is about coming out here and absorbing the

:08:55. > :09:00.crowd today. Tank is a good afternoon to our commentator, Andrew

:09:01. > :09:05.Cotter and macro time to say good afternoon.

:09:06. > :09:18.Sport needs good rivalries. Chris Tomlinson looked to be struggling in

:09:19. > :09:20.the warm up. Irving Saladino coming later. Greg Rutherford to open his

:09:21. > :09:32.account. It looks like a fairly decent

:09:33. > :09:39.opening. A little shake of the head. Quite tricky as well when you get

:09:40. > :09:46.the field events in this environment. It is so unfamiliar.

:09:47. > :09:47.Just to hit the marks rapidly. Very unfamiliar surroundings. A good

:09:48. > :09:58.crowd in Albert Square. Good conditions. A lot to spare. That can

:09:59. > :10:01.get better. Greg Rutherford, as he said, after the result in San

:10:02. > :10:06.Diego, whether ratified or not, it shows he is in very good form. We

:10:07. > :10:13.wait for confirmation of the distance. 7.78. Fairly modest. He

:10:14. > :10:26.has a result on the board. STUDIO: Immodest art. Hopefully more

:10:27. > :10:33.to come. Time for the first track race of this afternoon. Andy Turner

:10:34. > :10:37.is featured. Good afternoon to Steve Cram.

:10:38. > :10:45.Good afternoon, everybody. Beautiful day in Manchester. Great opportunity

:10:46. > :10:54.for these hurdlers to kick off. Some have been racing this year. Alex

:10:55. > :10:58.Al-Ameen, Lawrence Clarke, Andy Turner, good to see him back on the

:10:59. > :11:04.Manchester boy in lane three. The youngster of the field, David King,

:11:05. > :11:10.in lane four. Interesting year ready for the 110m hurdlers. Will Sharman

:11:11. > :11:17.running fast in America this year. Lawrence Clarke says he is fit and

:11:18. > :11:22.ready to go. The only bad news is unfortunately an athlete who was

:11:23. > :11:27.going to be hair has picked up another injury. That gives Alex

:11:28. > :11:37.Al-Ameen a chance. He has already run APB this year. -- he has run a

:11:38. > :11:42.PB. Andy Turner has been out training with his group in America

:11:43. > :11:52.and he got off to his best performance for quite a while with a

:11:53. > :11:56.1347. That is A standard for the Commonwealth Games. David King,

:11:57. > :12:06.19-year-old, already ran a personal best this year, 14.01. Andy Turner

:12:07. > :12:10.had his best year ever. He won gold at the Commonwealth and gold at the

:12:11. > :12:13.European Championships and he started the year off at these great

:12:14. > :12:19.Manchester City games and he will be looking perhaps to rekindle some of

:12:20. > :12:25.those glories. He will be going later in the 200m as well. This is a

:12:26. > :12:30.great run off between Andy Turner and Lawrence Clarke. Lawrence Clarke

:12:31. > :12:31.had hamstring problems last year but says he is back in good form and

:12:32. > :12:48.raring to go. Both get a pretty good start. Not

:12:49. > :12:53.much between them. Lawrence Clarke has a half a metre. Andy Turner is

:12:54. > :13:07.Right there. Neck and neck. Lawrence Clarke gets it. Apart from the

:13:08. > :13:12.when, it is just a A standard for the Commonwealth Games. They both

:13:13. > :13:15.may get quicker. What a year we may have in store for the hurdlers.

:13:16. > :13:20.Colin Jackson will be delighted about that. A great race. A good

:13:21. > :13:25.domestic battle. They were not keen in this race. I both make mistakes.

:13:26. > :13:29.You expect that at this time of the year. They will make little

:13:30. > :13:32.technical errors that you do not experience in training because you

:13:33. > :13:40.do not have the same kind of tension or pressure. I think Andy makes a

:13:41. > :13:45.mistake going into that. He pitches a bit to the right. I think that

:13:46. > :13:53.could have cost in the race. It is good to see the guys fit and healthy

:13:54. > :13:59.and enjoying racing. We will hear from the boys in just a second.

:14:00. > :14:04.Season's best for Lawrence Clarke. Andy Turner, good run. A big

:14:05. > :14:11.personal best for David King in third, the 19-year-old.

:14:12. > :14:21.What a great start for the crowd. Tremendous performance. You guys...

:14:22. > :14:30.Are you fans of this event? My favourite competition of the year.

:14:31. > :14:33.The crowd are amazing. I ruptured my Achilles, so to come back and even

:14:34. > :14:41.be doing this today, I am so thankful. I am just enjoying my

:14:42. > :14:47.running again. Great to see you back. Maybe speak to you later. Good

:14:48. > :14:52.to see you back too after a frustrating year. I broke my wrist

:14:53. > :14:56.and tore my hamstring twice. It was a farce. I have been injury free

:14:57. > :15:02.since October. I am grateful to be back. Thank you very much.

:15:03. > :15:08.Let us talk about records and Yohan Blake. You cannot beat a good race.

:15:09. > :15:13.Very exciting. It is great to see both of those guys back. Both have

:15:14. > :15:19.been injured and had terrible 2013s. Here they are. Certainly

:15:20. > :15:23.Lawrence Clarke, he came through well, but Andy Turner held his form.

:15:24. > :15:28.In terms of his confidence, that will really help. Absolutely. And he

:15:29. > :15:32.questioned whether he would be back running again. Achilles operations

:15:33. > :15:37.he had were telling. It is brilliant to see him with a smile on his

:15:38. > :15:40.face. As Colin said, a bit rusty, technique was not quite there, but

:15:41. > :15:51.bodes well for the rest of the season. Is We will see Andy Turner

:15:52. > :15:56.later. You sometimes worry when you see him run two in a day, because we

:15:57. > :15:59.know how fragile he is. When you are healthy, you have got to enjoy the

:16:00. > :16:04.athletics, because you don't know what is around the corner. Actually,

:16:05. > :16:09.I favour Andy. He looks really good and it showed in the latter half of

:16:10. > :16:14.his race then. He has the speed endurance element to his race. If he

:16:15. > :16:20.can run well in the 200, he will have another good season. The track

:16:21. > :16:25.looks fantastic. The field events are taking place at Albert Square.

:16:26. > :16:34.Let's look back now to the women's pole vault which happened earlier.

:16:35. > :16:38.An interesting competition it was. The Greek became the favourite after

:16:39. > :16:45.the German had to pull out with an Achilles problem. A couple of

:16:46. > :16:54.British athletes are taking part as well. Nikoleta Kiriakopoulou was

:16:55. > :17:07.looking to assert her quality with her second attempt. She went clear.

:17:08. > :17:20.So it was up to the remaining German, with her third attempt at

:17:21. > :17:25.the same height. Over she went. Nikoleta Kiriakopoulou, with her

:17:26. > :17:32.second attempt at 4.50, and things went wrong. A nasty snap of the

:17:33. > :17:37.poll. A lot of blood came out of her hand and she was very distressed. It

:17:38. > :17:48.has happened many times before in the pole vault. She was instantly

:17:49. > :17:52.treated at the site by St John Ambulance. She fainted briefly. She

:17:53. > :18:07.was worried distressed, winner of the Doha Diamond League. And

:18:08. > :18:12.Gadschiew's third attempt failed. So it was victory for Nikoleta

:18:13. > :18:18.Kiriakopoulou, who was taken off for care elsewhere. So she had a

:18:19. > :18:31.consolation. The victory was hers. She got the win despite that injury

:18:32. > :18:37.and hopefully should be OK for the rest of the season. The women's 100

:18:38. > :18:43.hurdles are next. Kellie Wells is in a good field here. Three of the top

:18:44. > :18:51.hurdlers in the world. Serita Solomon will have her work cut out

:18:52. > :18:57.to stay with them. Olympic silver and bronze medallist in this field

:18:58. > :19:01.Kellie Wells took the bronze in that great race back in London. Was it

:19:02. > :19:09.nearly two years ago now? And already on good form this year.

:19:10. > :19:16.Kellie Wells also went off to Tokyo. And there was a race in day

:19:17. > :19:30.morning -- in Isleworth. Tiffany Porter finished fifth in

:19:31. > :19:47.that race. She also won in Jamaica recently. Medallist again at the

:19:48. > :19:56.world indoors. It looks to be another great year for women's

:19:57. > :20:05.hurdling. Serita Solomon it at her second UK Championships this year.

:20:06. > :20:09.You might see some damp patches on the track. We have not had a

:20:10. > :20:18.shower, they just keep spraying the track to keep it cool. It is very

:20:19. > :20:23.hot down here. It is a safety measure. It is a rubber surface,

:20:24. > :20:33.laid down in the week leading up to this event, to make sure it stays in

:20:34. > :20:43.perfect condition for the sprinters. Kelly Wells in one, Tiffany Porter

:20:44. > :20:53.into and Dawn in three. Porter gets a good start. Kelly Wells on the far

:20:54. > :21:07.side. Porter is now pulling away from Kelly Wells. That is very

:21:08. > :21:11.quick! It is a quick time. Admittedly, Dawn Harper-Nelson fell,

:21:12. > :21:18.but what a good run for Tiffany Porter. She did not get the indoor

:21:19. > :21:21.season off to a good start, Colin, but she finished it well and seems

:21:22. > :21:27.to be carrying it into the beginning of the indoor season as well. Dawn

:21:28. > :21:33.scenes OK, thankfully. Thankfully, she looks OK. She will be

:21:34. > :21:37.disappointed to hit the deck. But Tiffany Porter had this race from

:21:38. > :21:41.the blocks. She kept the pressure on, rolling over these barriers

:21:42. > :21:49.well, keeping control. No real distress around her. And it was more

:21:50. > :21:55.than a reasonably good time. That was a great four months and victory

:21:56. > :21:59.over two athletes she knows well and are tough opponents. That is the

:22:00. > :22:30.quickest time we have seen. Thankfully, Dawn got up after that

:22:31. > :22:33.heavy fall and scenes OK. Well, a new best. You must be

:22:34. > :22:39.thrilled with that form. You carried it from the indoors these into the

:22:40. > :22:42.out. Yeah, I am excited with how things are progressing. I have to

:22:43. > :22:49.work on a couple of things with my technique. This is a relaxed event,

:22:50. > :22:52.but it also has competitive edge. You want to deliver for the crowd

:22:53. > :22:57.who have come out and for your own confidence going forward.

:22:58. > :23:02.Absolutely. I love it here. It is one of my favourite meats. The

:23:03. > :23:08.energy here is second to none. I am excited that I was able to win. What

:23:09. > :23:13.is next for you? Rome. Diamond League. So it gets more serious. We

:23:14. > :23:22.wish you well going forward. Thanks, guys. So we will see Tiffany in Rome

:23:23. > :23:27.on BBC Three on the 5th of June. I will be there. She is looking in

:23:28. > :23:35.great form. She is. She looks in really good shape. We have talked

:23:36. > :23:40.about Tiffany's technique over the hurdles for the last couple of

:23:41. > :23:45.years, and she is so much better over the final barriers. She is

:23:46. > :23:51.looking smooth, consistent. Before, we used to see her struggling, but a

:23:52. > :23:58.fantastic run by her. Not quite so good for Dawn Harper. No. She is

:23:59. > :24:02.such a great athlete, but it was her trial leg. She seemed to just catch

:24:03. > :24:07.it with the top of her foot as she was bringing it around. Let's head

:24:08. > :24:11.back now to the men's long jump. Greg Rutherford and Chris Tomlinson

:24:12. > :24:14.are still in round one. The opening round attempt of one of

:24:15. > :24:19.the other Britons taking part, Matthew Burton, UK indoor champion

:24:20. > :24:24.last year and a former triple jumper. This is his first outing

:24:25. > :24:34.this season, so nothing to judge him on so far. He perhaps lacked some of

:24:35. > :24:44.the raw speed on the runway, but looked good on the board.

:24:45. > :25:09.I think they are checking to see if it was a legal jump. Great crowd in

:25:10. > :25:20.Albert Square. Greg Rutherford had an opening jump of 7.78.

:25:21. > :25:32.That was a decent opener for Matthew Burton. Ignisious Gaisah runs for

:25:33. > :25:43.the Netherlands, as of last year. He won and Olympic silver Fergana --

:25:44. > :25:53.for Ghana. He is drumming up support from this Albert Square crowd. A

:25:54. > :26:04.less favourite Albert Square -- less famous Albert Square than on the

:26:05. > :26:30.BBC. By his standards, that was fairly modest. Again, very good on

:26:31. > :26:36.the board. There is the young Briton waiting for his attempt.

:26:37. > :26:38.Confirmation for the distance for Gaisah is 7.75.

:26:39. > :26:44.I'm delighted to say I have been joined by Jonnie Peacock, Paralympic

:26:45. > :26:49.and world 100m champion. You ran here last year. We have some

:26:50. > :26:55.Paralympic races coming up, so why have we not see new this year?

:26:56. > :26:58.Unfortunately, this year, due to a back stress that I got last

:26:59. > :27:05.December, it put me out for the beginning of the season. So I could

:27:06. > :27:10.not run until about March. It is not time for a race yet. There is no

:27:11. > :27:16.rush this year, so I will take it as it comes. It is a beautiful day. You

:27:17. > :27:19.ran here last year. You must be disappointed that you cannot give it

:27:20. > :27:24.a whirl? Completely. I was walking here before and when you see the

:27:25. > :27:32.track, you just want to get on and complete. But... Another day. It is

:27:33. > :27:37.not just about today, it is about the future and next year. We have to

:27:38. > :27:42.do everything we can write this year so that I can run as fast as

:27:43. > :27:48.possible. The big competition for you this year will be Swansea. We

:27:49. > :27:51.don't want to give you the middle, but your main competition is Richard

:27:52. > :28:00.Brown from America. He started the season well. Over the 200, he has

:28:01. > :28:06.done well. It is unfortunate that he has had a bit of an Achilles strain

:28:07. > :28:12.over the last few weeks. But it is fantastic racing against these

:28:13. > :28:16.people, because they push you along. Last year was an interesting one for

:28:17. > :28:22.me. I did not start training until March. But this year, it is

:28:23. > :28:26.business. I have been doing some great work with Steve recently and I

:28:27. > :28:31.can't wait to get on the track. I know you are looking forward to

:28:32. > :28:41.watching the temp two 200m. Andrew will call this forest -- the T44.

:28:42. > :29:05.And the letter T stands for track. Look out for Jarryd Wallace.

:29:06. > :29:14.This track is laid about five feet off the ground in deans Gate. David

:29:15. > :29:36.Prince was a bronze medallist in the 2012 Paralympics. Felix Streng was a

:29:37. > :29:47.former junior champion. Just 19 years old. Jarryd Wallace was the

:29:48. > :29:59.IPC world champion last year. He is the man to beat here. And Ronald

:30:00. > :30:03.talk of the Netherlands, former javelin champion and all-round

:30:04. > :30:05.athlete. That power should stand him in good stead in the latter part of

:30:06. > :30:16.this race. We have seen some quick times

:30:17. > :30:22.already. There is a slight following wind, dipping below and then above

:30:23. > :30:28.the legal limit. Jarryd Wallace has the potential certainly to go very

:30:29. > :30:33.quick. I wonder if you can get close to 22 seconds. It is warm and with

:30:34. > :30:42.favourable conditions, he may well. David Prince, Felix Streng, Jarryd

:30:43. > :30:47.Wallace and Paul -- and Ronald Hertog.

:30:48. > :31:21.Felix Streng takes it, 22.4. The wind is legal, the time is fast.

:31:22. > :31:31.Felix Streng, that is not a world record, but 22.4, very, very quick

:31:32. > :31:38.indeed. It is the quickest in the world this year and Felix Streng,

:31:39. > :31:46.one of the new talents. Thank you! You are very welcome. A fantastic

:31:47. > :31:49.finish. Jarryd Wallace slot was Billy Morgan -- Jarryd Wallace was

:31:50. > :31:55.the favourite. David Prince going strongly as well. But Felix Streng,

:31:56. > :32:03.the double world junior games sprint champion last year, greater prizes

:32:04. > :32:07.perhaps lie in store for him. Felix Streng moving forward and looking

:32:08. > :32:16.strong. He knew he had it in the final few metres. Deansgate belongs

:32:17. > :32:31.to Felix Streng in the men's T44 200m. The world's best time this

:32:32. > :32:36.year. A bit of a surprise. We were not

:32:37. > :32:42.expecting that. That was a great race. Very mature execution. Stayed

:32:43. > :32:50.relaxed and pushed through. It was really good. I think that it is just

:32:51. > :32:57.great to see we have a young talent coming through. He is only 19. The

:32:58. > :33:01.fact he ran quite well last year, I think 11.5 over the 100. It is great

:33:02. > :33:08.to see the Paralympic sport is becoming better and younger

:33:09. > :33:12.sprinters coming through the ranks. Denise was having a chat with you

:33:13. > :33:21.about your 200m credentials. Too far for me! 100 metres is far enough.

:33:22. > :33:29.What did he say? His exact words were, I am too lazy. I am too lazy.

:33:30. > :33:33.120, that is the furthest I will go. Earlier on, an event you are

:33:34. > :33:45.much more comfortable with. The 100m. This happened before we came

:33:46. > :33:50.on air. Jonnie Peacock leaving the stage to

:33:51. > :33:53.others here. Ronald Hertog of the Netherlands and Paul Peterson of the

:33:54. > :34:04.United States, Michael Poulton goes for Great Britain.

:34:05. > :34:15.A good start by Paul Peterson. The Dutchman closing in on Peterson but

:34:16. > :34:29.he is holding on. Paul Peterson takes it. Victory for Paul Peterson

:34:30. > :34:37.by one hundredth of a second. Personal best. Not legal with the

:34:38. > :34:44.wind. A very good victory for Paul Peterson.

:34:45. > :34:50.A very good line-up in this race. Two Dutch athletes, two Brits. All

:34:51. > :35:15.four made the final last year. Can anyone get close to Marlou Van

:35:16. > :35:30.Rhijn? Can she get close to 13 seconds? 13.39. She won last year.

:35:31. > :35:39.It is a games record. The time has been put up to 13.4. Decent run for

:35:40. > :35:44.Laura Sugar and Sophie Kamlish. Some great T44 100m races there.

:35:45. > :35:49.Your impression of Paul Peterson, another name to watch out for?

:35:50. > :35:54.Again. He is young, 21. He has only been involved maybe just over a

:35:55. > :35:57.year. Again, a fantastic young talent coming through. Definitely

:35:58. > :36:06.someone we will see in the next couple of years make the leap from

:36:07. > :36:12.the mid-11 to low 11s. He was suffering with a hamstring injury.

:36:13. > :36:20.The women's race, different class, really. Literally. The last 50m,

:36:21. > :36:25.that was where it all happened for that race. Again, great to see that

:36:26. > :36:32.we have got young British talent. We have got Sophie and Laura. Laura did

:36:33. > :36:40.a great start. You learn from it and you move on. It is all about the

:36:41. > :36:43.rest of the season. It is an unhealthy situation at the Met -- it

:36:44. > :36:50.is a healthy situation. Great coaches. The more young athletes

:36:51. > :36:56.will think, I will give this a shot. It is about coaches. We have seen it

:36:57. > :36:59.in Britain at the moment in the able-bodied side. A bunch sprinters

:37:00. > :37:05.have come through and it is because of great coaches. That is what it

:37:06. > :37:10.comes down to. Stick around, Richard Kilty is coming up next. First, back

:37:11. > :37:14.to Albert Square. Greg Rutherford's second round in the long jump. The

:37:15. > :37:16.Olympic champion leading after the first round.

:37:17. > :37:22.Again, the description of the first round was modest. Good enough to

:37:23. > :37:35.head the way. Four jumps for each athlete. The number two for the new

:37:36. > :37:42.British record-holder. Better. Difficult to tell on the angle, but

:37:43. > :37:46.it looks closer to 8m. He knows there is more to come. The

:37:47. > :37:52.conditions are pretty good. A little bit of a breeze around Albert

:37:53. > :38:00.Square. Just short of the last seen. The farce of the jump in San

:38:01. > :38:03.Diego when it was 8.51. There was not a plasticine strip. All sorts of

:38:04. > :38:11.questions about whether it was legal. If illegal, by a couple of

:38:12. > :38:15.centimetres perhaps. Has not been officially ratified, the new British

:38:16. > :38:18.record. Second jump, improves by 20 centimetres on his first round

:38:19. > :38:22.effort. Next up on this track, the men's

:38:23. > :38:28.100m. Richard Kilty is getting ready. The 60m in the world indoors,

:38:29. > :38:34.we are still in shock. He took the gold medal. Here are his thoughts

:38:35. > :38:40.ahead of his performance here. The man from Stockton, the world's

:38:41. > :38:47.champion! Great camp in event for me. -- great homecoming event. Being

:38:48. > :38:51.introduced to the crowd is a world champion, being one of the athletes

:38:52. > :38:56.the crowd wants to see, that is all I have dreamt about. First event I

:38:57. > :39:00.have run since being world champion, to be in front of a great crowd, it

:39:01. > :39:10.will be amazing. Goldthorpe rate Britain. -- gold for Great Britain.

:39:11. > :39:14.I am just going out to compete against some great competitors. I am

:39:15. > :39:18.not going to come out and put expectation on myself but I would

:39:19. > :39:22.love to run a quick time. It is all about Peking later on in the

:39:23. > :39:26.season. But to come out and put a show on for the crowd would be

:39:27. > :39:31.great. I am feeding off becoming the world champion so it has given me a

:39:32. > :39:34.little kick forward to think I can beat athletes like I defeated the

:39:35. > :39:38.Jamaicans at the World Indoor Championships and I beat some great

:39:39. > :39:42.athletes who 12 months ago I would not have believed I could beat.

:39:43. > :39:46.Hopefully it gives me the extra boost to take on great athletes in

:39:47. > :39:53.the outdoor season and hopefully kick-start me becoming one of the

:39:54. > :39:59.best sprinters in the world. Richard Kilty has run many times before in

:40:00. > :40:03.these games and he has not been noticed. They will notice and this

:40:04. > :40:13.time. Remind me of your stats about the athletes who have run sub 650.

:40:14. > :40:17.Virtually all apart from myself! Virtually all of the athletes who

:40:18. > :40:22.have gone under the magical 6.50 have all dipped under ten seconds.

:40:23. > :40:28.He would have looked at that statistic and thought, he is running

:40:29. > :40:32.consistently, to get under it, it has got to give him the extra boost

:40:33. > :40:39.to say, I can run fast and run among the best. Very good indoors. Looking

:40:40. > :40:43.at his size, you wonder how it converts to outdoors. But looking at

:40:44. > :40:48.Yohan Blake and he is probably a lot taller. We have to tear up the rule

:40:49. > :40:53.book about what an indoor person and an outdoor person is supposed to

:40:54. > :40:57.look like. He has run very quickly and now he has got his first strike,

:40:58. > :41:02.he needs to be consistent and believe that he can mix it up with

:41:03. > :41:06.the big guys. Today is the start of a very interesting season for

:41:07. > :41:12.Richard Kilty. I hope he stays injury free and keeps going, but the

:41:13. > :41:16.elevation, he will not forget his performance. He was so confident in

:41:17. > :41:28.the Indoor Championships. Round by round, he grew. I am looking forward

:41:29. > :41:32.to seeing them. What a good race and a good

:41:33. > :41:43.opportunity for Richard Kilty. The tough one to beat will be Femi

:41:44. > :41:47.Ogunode. The world indoor champion, he said himself that means everybody

:41:48. > :41:50.is looking at him and he will never have an easy race again in his

:41:51. > :41:55.career to cause there is a new level of expectation. That is a good thing

:41:56. > :42:03.to have. This man is getting better as well. Watched him last week. Ran

:42:04. > :42:07.a really good 200m. He has had a cracking year. He was third behind

:42:08. > :42:12.this man in the Indoor Championships. Not his first race of

:42:13. > :42:23.the year. Richard has already run 10.12. It is significant. The number

:42:24. > :42:28.one already this year. Commonwealth qualifying is 10.15. Plenty of

:42:29. > :42:37.British 100m runners trying to make the team. Richard Kilty topping the

:42:38. > :42:45.parlour at the moment. Chijindu Ujah from Enfield, the 20-year-old.

:42:46. > :42:49.European junior champion in 2013. Another bright British sprint

:42:50. > :42:55.talent. So, beautiful day, slight following wind, Richard Kilty has

:42:56. > :43:02.trained well and he is now the world indoor champion. Pride of Teeside.

:43:03. > :43:08.Gateshead Harrier. Now with a lot of expectation on his shoulders, not

:43:09. > :43:14.least the start Colin Jackson just mentioned at the start -- the

:43:15. > :43:17.statistic. Who knows, culminating in a good performance at the

:43:18. > :43:20.Commonwealth Games in the summer. A win here today, that is the most

:43:21. > :43:42.important thing. It is very tight. 10.11. The wind

:43:43. > :43:46.just picked up a little bit there. Femi Ogunode ran well last week.

:43:47. > :43:52.Good indoor season like Richard Kilty. His brother is also someone

:43:53. > :43:58.to watch out for. Based in America now runs for Qatar. Richard Kilty

:43:59. > :44:02.did not get out quick enough. Chijindu Ujah ran a brilliant race.

:44:03. > :44:07.The Disney, Richard Kilty just a little bit slow to get into his

:44:08. > :44:14.quick running. He is a good starter. Although he was up there, Femi

:44:15. > :44:17.Ogunode starts to run away. Chijindu Ujah is not bothered about

:44:18. > :44:22.reputations here. But right style from Femi Ogunode. Gets it on the

:44:23. > :44:30.dip from Chijindu Ujah nearest the camera. Pity about the wind because

:44:31. > :44:35.it was a pretty swift run. A little bit of a breeze picked up to take it

:44:36. > :44:49.over the two metres per second legal limit. Richard Kilty has to settle

:44:50. > :44:57.for third place. I have got Richard and Femi Ogunode.

:44:58. > :45:06.Fantastic race. How did you enjoy that? It is a great thing to be

:45:07. > :45:20.here. I love running with him every time. When we were in... Great thing

:45:21. > :45:24.to win here. I am so happy. Thank you for being here and giving us

:45:25. > :45:28.such entertainment. I will have a word with Richard now. I know you

:45:29. > :45:32.are looking forward to being announced as world indoor champion

:45:33. > :45:35.and the reception you got from the crowd was remarkable. It was amazing

:45:36. > :45:41.to come out in front of the crowd today. The best reception coming

:45:42. > :45:47.back as world champion. To run a time of 10.19, it shows the shape

:45:48. > :45:51.you are in already. I ran 10.13 last week. I arrived from the States

:45:52. > :45:55.yesterday. It bit jet-lagged. Today was more about coming out and

:45:56. > :46:01.enjoying the condition and putting a show one for the crowd. Fast times

:46:02. > :46:12.will come later in the season. A tremendous start. Keep it going. All

:46:13. > :46:16.the best. You have to have some sort of rationalisation for being the

:46:17. > :46:20.first Brit home. What did you make of this

:46:21. > :46:24.performance? He said one of the reasons why, because he has just

:46:25. > :46:29.come off the plane and tried to compete and it is very difficult to

:46:30. > :46:33.do that. I was also looking for that sense of consistency. Keep dumbing

:46:34. > :46:39.down to that magical 10.2 barrier all the time, and he managed that.

:46:40. > :46:44.He has still got performances under his writ. A massive change in a very

:46:45. > :46:50.short period of time, which is difficult. It is tough to take on

:46:51. > :46:54.that mantle. Every time you are called out, you are the world indoor

:46:55. > :46:59.champion. You have got to grow into that role, and he has the capability

:47:00. > :47:04.to run sub ten. You can't be too critical of his performance today. A

:47:05. > :47:10.bit rusty, jet lag, tired legs. More to come. Back now to Albert Square

:47:11. > :47:13.and the long jump. Greg Rutherford is struggling a bit. Let's see how

:47:14. > :47:25.Chris Tomlinson is getting on. They all seem to be struggling with

:47:26. > :47:36.the conditions in Albert Square. That looked a little bit ragged on

:47:37. > :47:43.the runway. There was a white flag. Tremendous read and height -- reach

:47:44. > :47:54.and height. And a bit of room to spare on the board. Rutherford is on

:47:55. > :48:00.7.98 at the moment. Chris Tomlinson was grimacing in the warm-up,

:48:01. > :48:13.clutching his upper thigh. That is his father in the blue shirt.

:48:14. > :48:23.Now the Olympic champion from 2008. Again, like most of the athletes

:48:24. > :48:30.here, he seems to be down a bit on his best. The conditions are a bit

:48:31. > :48:45.unfamiliar. He is going well below what he is capable of.

:48:46. > :48:56.Dino the ground attempt in the men's long jump. That looks similar to his

:48:57. > :49:15.second round attempt. He got that gold medal in Beijing

:49:16. > :49:29.six years ago now. The wind is blowing around this famous square.

:49:30. > :49:35.He is some way off the Briton at the moment. Slight improvement. Fourth

:49:36. > :49:40.place for the Panamanian. 20 more to come from the long jump.

:49:41. > :49:47.And also here on the track in deans Gate.

:49:48. > :49:52.Yohan Blake and his attempt to run the fastest race in history. The key

:49:53. > :49:58.here is the average speed over 150m, and you know who holds that record.

:49:59. > :50:05.Usain Bolt. That is coming up at 2.40. Then tomorrow morning from

:50:06. > :50:09.10am on BBC Two, we have the great Manchester run, which will be quite

:50:10. > :50:13.a race. Alongside me, for a preview of it is all a Radcliffe. She knows

:50:14. > :50:19.about running fast over long distances. We are looking forward to

:50:20. > :50:22.Kenenisa Bekele against Wilson Kipsang, who ran the London

:50:23. > :50:27.Marathon. It is a tantalising prospect. It is and it would be more

:50:28. > :50:33.tantalising if it was over the full marathon distance. But over 10K,

:50:34. > :50:37.Kenenisa Bekele probably has the upper hand. His track pedigree is a

:50:38. > :50:43.lot higher than that of Wilson Kipsang. And if we are looking at

:50:44. > :50:51.recovery times from the marathons, there is not much difference. The

:50:52. > :50:56.transition is a marathon pace the coming back to what is almost a

:50:57. > :51:00.sprint, 10K. It is more the recovery from the marathon rather than the

:51:01. > :51:03.change in pace. When you are standing on the start line and ready

:51:04. > :51:10.to race a marathon of those guys would have in ready to run personal

:51:11. > :51:16.best. But then it is about the recovery. We are having problems

:51:17. > :51:29.with the wind! To Ernesto Barbour came third in London. She runs as

:51:30. > :51:36.well tomorrow. Yes, her biggest challenge will come from the

:51:37. > :51:41.cross-country champion. Tirunesh Dibaba will be looking for a top

:51:42. > :51:46.three finish today. Loss of focus on sprinting here today. Drugs have

:51:47. > :51:52.been in the news with Tyson downed Asafa Powell. There are very

:51:53. > :51:56.different penalties. What do you make of that situation? We have to

:51:57. > :52:05.reserve judgement until we find out exactly what the data is that was

:52:06. > :52:12.given by Tyson Gay to merit that sanction. At first glance, that is

:52:13. > :52:17.really me in and does not work as a deterrent for taking drugs in the

:52:18. > :52:21.first place. -- it is very lenient. I am a bit disappointed. I think the

:52:22. > :52:24.deterrent needs to be stronger. It might be a case of losing some

:52:25. > :52:28.battles, but hopefully winning the war. Now we head back to Albert

:52:29. > :52:34.Square and some awe of the long jump.

:52:35. > :52:46.Into the final round. Greg Rutherford is leading at the

:52:47. > :52:53.moment. He would love to give this crowd and and eight metre jump in

:52:54. > :53:01.Albert Square. Though he asks for all the support they can offer.

:53:02. > :53:11.It is good. Looks to be very close to his second round attempt, which

:53:12. > :53:21.was 7.98 full he leads at the moment, but has he extended that

:53:22. > :53:28.lead? As he was saying earlier, he is not too bothered if that British

:53:29. > :53:33.record is not ratified. He is a man full of confidence, but not reaching

:53:34. > :53:39.those distances today. All of the athletes are down by up to 50

:53:40. > :53:42.centimetres or so on their best. It is an eight metre jump. He extends

:53:43. > :54:32.his lead in the final round. In-tray it has been a good start for

:54:33. > :54:45.Eilidh Child. She looked strong in Doha. Meghan Beesley missed out on

:54:46. > :54:48.the 400m hurdles. It is a big year for Eilidh Child and any Scottish

:54:49. > :55:03.athlete with the Commonwealth Games and the European Championships after

:55:04. > :55:13.that. Dalilah Mohammad is the silver medallist from Moscow in the 400

:55:14. > :55:21.hurdles. A Chak athlete makes up the line up -- eight Czech athlete. She

:55:22. > :55:26.is to be married to Lukas Rosol, who caused the great upset in the

:55:27. > :55:46.Wimbledon a couple of years ago, beating Rafael Nadal. There is of

:55:47. > :55:55.course, a very rarely run distance. Meghan Beesley at the top, Eilidh

:55:56. > :56:01.Child in second, Dalilah Mohammad in three and the Czech athlete in four.

:56:02. > :56:07.Away cleanly. The God for them to judge the pace. They have run this

:56:08. > :56:17.distance in training, but Beasley has gone out flying . Has she gone

:56:18. > :56:22.out to quickly? Beesley is running so impressively. She will not be

:56:23. > :56:31.caught. What a reefer Meghan Beesley. -- what a victory for her.

:56:32. > :56:44.What a win. The others were not even close. You are right. And she

:56:45. > :56:49.attacked this race like it was a sprint hurdle race. That is the

:56:50. > :56:51.attitude you have to have. It is not a quarter-mile race where you can

:56:52. > :56:56.take your time, you have got to go from the gut. She stories huge

:56:57. > :57:03.margin on the other runners very early and was confident I drove hard

:57:04. > :57:10.all the way she is running alternate strides, which is good. It puts her

:57:11. > :57:16.in good stead because imagining the skill at this pace. It will bode

:57:17. > :57:27.really well for her specialist subject. The others have, -- the

:57:28. > :57:31.others have come from a long-distance background. Meghan

:57:32. > :57:49.Beesley it beautifully. A very comprehensive victory.

:57:50. > :58:02.A commander 's race. I can't believe it. -- a tremendous race. Really

:58:03. > :58:08.happy with that. Eilidh Child, use or PB, alongside your name. Meghan

:58:09. > :58:14.was gone! I was trying to catch her the hallway. What is it like for you

:58:15. > :58:20.both as 400m hurdles, having 200 in a straight like that? It is a long

:58:21. > :58:23.way when you are standing there. We are used to running around the

:58:24. > :58:31.tracks. But it was such a good race and a good atmosphere. And your take

:58:32. > :58:37.on it? I like the sprint hurdles. It was great to be out. This is clearly

:58:38. > :58:41.what I should be doing! It bodes well for what is to come for the

:58:42. > :58:49.season. Year for you in Glasgow, Eilidh. Yet, training is going

:58:50. > :58:53.really well. I just can't wait for the season now. And you are the

:58:54. > :58:59.poster girl for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. The excitement

:59:00. > :59:03.is building. It is really exciting, especially for Scottish sport. I'm

:59:04. > :59:09.trying to enjoy it, but focus on the races coming up. Great to see you

:59:10. > :59:17.both. All the best. As Eilidh said, Meghan was gone! She

:59:18. > :59:22.was! It was a phenomenal race. From the first step out of the blocks,

:59:23. > :59:27.Meghan attacked that first hurdle. In contrast, Eilidh did not. It was

:59:28. > :59:31.a great race from her. You could see that she was confident. She had a

:59:32. > :59:35.good year last year, and she is building. It was interesting to see

:59:36. > :59:43.the contrast in style of the athletes. We know Eilidh

:59:44. > :59:48.concentrates on the back-end of her race over the 400 hurdles. What a

:59:49. > :59:52.race. Eilidh was struggling with her rhythm. What about the rhythm in the

:59:53. > :59:58.long jump for the men? This is the finale of the competition.

:59:59. > :00:05.What does Irving Saladino have to offer? Former Olympic champion and

:00:06. > :00:11.world ambient in 2007. He has had an illustrious career. He has managed

:00:12. > :00:15.8.16 this season, so if he can get that, he will deny Greg Rutherford.

:00:16. > :00:20.Chris Tomlinson will come after the Panamanian. But Rutherford is

:00:21. > :00:37.leading, 8.02. It is better. It is quick. Is it

:00:38. > :00:43.legal? It might be close to Greg Rutherford. The crowd have been

:00:44. > :00:50.enjoying this long jump competition immensely. A bit of a grimace from

:00:51. > :00:56.Irving Saladino. Looked very close to the plasticine. Near enough inch

:00:57. > :01:12.perfect by Irving Saladino. What is the distance? 8.02 four Greg

:01:13. > :01:16.Rutherford. -- four Greg Rutherford. It is 7.93, he has improved with

:01:17. > :01:25.every round, but it is not quite enough to take the lead from Greg

:01:26. > :01:28.Rutherford. He is in second. Only one man can deny Greg Rutherford.

:01:29. > :01:38.Fitting perhaps that it should be Chris Tomlinson. 7.77 he managed in

:01:39. > :01:46.the second round. Just slipped down into third place.

:01:47. > :01:54.Rolling all over the place. It will not be good enough to deny Greg

:01:55. > :01:59.Rutherford. It is a legal jump. Small consolation. That will be some

:02:00. > :02:07.way short, I am sure, of Greg Rutherford. Chris Tomlinson may

:02:08. > :02:16.well... He was jumping at an angle. Isn't enough on the board. But

:02:17. > :02:23.technique not his finest. Just confirm the final round distance...

:02:24. > :02:28.I can hear him saying, it is not the best in all honesty. His best, seven

:02:29. > :02:32.points and seven in the second round, leaving him in third place.

:02:33. > :02:41.Greg Rutherford will have the victory. We thought it might be a

:02:42. > :02:44.showdown between Greg Rutherford and Chris Tomlinson, but Chris Tomlinson

:02:45. > :02:55.was off his best. He had all fowls last week. He has improved on that

:02:56. > :02:57.at least. Greg Rutherford wins that one ahead of Irving Saladino. Chris

:02:58. > :03:02.Tomlinson in third. Great long jump competition in

:03:03. > :03:07.Albert Square. Enjoyed by the crowds. Many more gathered on

:03:08. > :03:12.Deansgate enjoying a close-up view, as close as you can possibly get,

:03:13. > :03:19.the world's top athletes. So close to the track. Summer eight -- some

:03:20. > :03:25.are even taking a better vantage point on the windowsills, getting a

:03:26. > :03:32.better view. Now we move onto the men200m hurdles after a great

:03:33. > :03:35.performance from Meghan Beesley. We have the Olympic champion Andy

:03:36. > :03:45.Turner going again after his performance earlier. A real mix of

:03:46. > :03:52.the sprinters and the 400 metres-macro specialists. Meghan

:03:53. > :03:57.Beesley attacked it like a sprinter. Andy Turner loves this event. He

:03:58. > :04:01.feels as though it is right up his street and he is taking on the 400

:04:02. > :04:15.hurdles men. What a great year for Sebastien Roger. He ran six times

:04:16. > :04:18.under 50 seconds last year. And there is Felix Sanchez, one of the

:04:19. > :04:23.stories of the London Olympic Games, coming back to win again and

:04:24. > :04:28.many people thought at the age of what was then 34 but his career was

:04:29. > :04:36.on the downward slope. Very popular man on the world circuit still. And

:04:37. > :04:42.Andy Turner, he essentially, 22.10 in this race, there is a time

:04:43. > :04:47.quicker than that from 1960 from an American athlete. But in terms of

:04:48. > :04:59.world best, Andy Turner's has that time. Green has competition back

:05:00. > :05:05.home. It is going to be a competitive year once more for the

:05:06. > :05:12.long hurdle race. This is an intriguing matchup. You would say

:05:13. > :05:17.that Andy Turner should start as favourite here. Partly because we

:05:18. > :05:21.have already seen he is in good form over the shorter distance. He was

:05:22. > :05:25.telling the earlier he has hamstring niggle is over the past couple of

:05:26. > :05:30.weeks, but hopefully that was not aggravated after the hurdle race

:05:31. > :05:40.where he was pipped by Lawrence Clarke.

:05:41. > :05:57.Clean start. Sanchez got away pretty quickly. Andy Turner is turning it

:05:58. > :06:08.on. Getting me where them right. Can he win this? Yes, he does! 22.6. Had

:06:09. > :06:14.to hold it together there. Just looks as though he made a surge away

:06:15. > :06:21.in the middle and started to just struggle a little bit. Sanchez came

:06:22. > :06:26.back at him hard. Andy Turner trusted his technique. He is

:06:27. > :06:29.clutching his calf a little. He said the Achilles has been fine in recent

:06:30. > :06:34.times which is good to hear but it has been a problem through his

:06:35. > :06:40.career. Close run in the end. At long last, Felix Sanchez has

:06:41. > :06:46.learnt. Andy Turner used to steal the margin by getting out well. This

:06:47. > :06:54.time, Andy Turner kept his head, kept cool, calm and passed the 400m

:06:55. > :06:59.specialist, the elliptic champion at the longer distance, remember, and

:07:00. > :07:04.you could have favoured Felix Sanchez. -- the Olympic champion.

:07:05. > :07:11.Andy Turner wanted it more. Well done, Andy Turner. I just hope he is

:07:12. > :07:17.OK. A little shake of the head and he was clutching his lower car. I

:07:18. > :07:27.hope he is all right. -- his lower calf.

:07:28. > :07:32.We will get a fitness update. You were talking about having cramp. I

:07:33. > :07:38.had cramp just before the race. I felt it the whole way down in my

:07:39. > :07:45.car. You cannot push off. -- in my calf. I won the race and that is

:07:46. > :07:50.what I came to do. You love it in Manchester. I love the 200m hurdles.

:07:51. > :07:58.If it was an Olympic event, you would not see me on the 110m. I love

:07:59. > :08:05.it. It is great to see you back. It is always great to see you as well,

:08:06. > :08:09.Felix. It is always fun to come here, especially with the sunshine.

:08:10. > :08:14.It is a very unique environment. I thought I had him. I asked him

:08:15. > :08:19.before the race, which way should I stick my blocks? It almost worked. I

:08:20. > :08:23.got out really good. I got good work on my other leg. I keep coming back

:08:24. > :08:32.and running personal best. Maybe next year! We will see you back next

:08:33. > :08:38.year, both of you. Some great marauder rehear. Meghan

:08:39. > :08:43.Beesley would echo those comments. If this was an Olympic distance, she

:08:44. > :08:49.would be doing it as well. -- great camaraderie. Still to come, Yohan

:08:50. > :08:53.Blake and Christine Ohurogu. Earlier, a chance for the younger

:08:54. > :09:10.generation to have a go. The sprint final, 150m.

:09:11. > :09:16.Powerful sprinting. Just beginning to tire fractionally. A long way

:09:17. > :09:24.clear of the rest. Just 12 years old. 19.04 the winning time.

:09:25. > :09:38.Confirmation of the win. One for the future.

:09:39. > :09:48.The boys School sprint final, 150 metres. Look out for Jordan Edwards.

:09:49. > :09:59.The fastest. He is going to hang onto this one. Using the power,

:10:00. > :10:03.strong looking 12-year-old, Jordan Edwards comes through. Slight

:10:04. > :10:10.following wind. Very strong victory. Confirmation of the victory for

:10:11. > :10:14.Jordan Edmonds. -- Jordan Edwards. Good experience for the young

:10:15. > :10:18.athletes. The crowd is so close to the track, it is very

:10:19. > :10:30.inspirational. If you have been inspired, the BBC can help.

:10:31. > :10:36.# Keep on running... The BBC wants you to keep active and stay active.

:10:37. > :10:46.Go to our website to find this sport for you. Don't just watch it, do it.

:10:47. > :11:00.Get active, get inspired. # Keep on running #

:11:01. > :11:05.Lots of good ideas there. One athlete who is very

:11:06. > :11:13.inspirational, Christine Ohurogu, she is up next. 30 years young

:11:14. > :11:17.today. For Christine last year, while champion again, and the

:11:18. > :11:20.British record which arguably was more important, listening to her on

:11:21. > :11:24.the radio last night, you get the feeling perhaps this year maybe she

:11:25. > :11:30.has taken her foot off the gas a little bit. It is so hard for an

:11:31. > :11:33.athlete... I think about my own experiences, every year, trying to

:11:34. > :11:37.get yourself up for the big occasions, it can be hard. Last year

:11:38. > :11:45.was just fantastic for her on every level. She reigned supreme. This

:11:46. > :11:50.year, it is like, OK, where do I go to? What is my incentive? Always

:11:51. > :11:54.with Christine there is a sense she wants to have more fun. Hopefully,

:11:55. > :11:59.if training is going well, we will see good performances from her. To

:12:00. > :12:03.get the best from her, she needs to have her teeth stuck into something.

:12:04. > :12:10.To be fair, it is Commonwealth Games and Europeans. 2006, it was the

:12:11. > :12:16.Commonwealth title there which put her into the spotlight. In front of

:12:17. > :12:23.the home crowd, it is not quite London 2012, but it is as close as

:12:24. > :12:27.you will get. Yes. Has she got the European Championship medal? It is

:12:28. > :12:31.just what her goals are going forward, whether she wants to

:12:32. > :12:34.continue right through to Rio de Janeiro, whether she wants to have a

:12:35. > :12:38.consolidating year and start building up again. As you say, she

:12:39. > :12:44.wants to be competing on home soil and that is probably the incentive

:12:45. > :12:51.for her. 200m now for the birthday girl. Steve Cram calling this one.

:12:52. > :13:01.Christine Ohurogu goes here in lane two. I will take over duties from

:13:02. > :13:10.Steve for this one. Shana Cox also going for Great Britain. Seldom

:13:11. > :13:15.sighted so far this season. Focusing perhaps on sweating it out in

:13:16. > :13:18.training in Florida with her coach. We saw her helping Britain to a

:13:19. > :13:25.bronze in the world indoors. A good chance to see here in Manchester how

:13:26. > :13:37.her formers. The Jamaican athlete led off the relay team which got the

:13:38. > :13:42.Olympic bronze in 2012. Again, it is 400 specialists coming down to 200

:13:43. > :13:46.in this one. Christine Ohurogu's first race as a 30-something.

:13:47. > :13:50.Perhaps we can sort out a round of happy birthday for her if she wins.

:13:51. > :14:03.Big crowds in the sunshine on Deansgate. Shana Cox. She goes in

:14:04. > :14:08.lane three. She might be the closest threat to Christine Ohurogu here. We

:14:09. > :14:10.are used to a strong finish from Christine Ohurogu. Will be

:14:11. > :14:20.interesting to see how she runs it here. Stacey-Ann Smith has run 23.3

:14:21. > :14:30.this year. This of course is a straight track. Felix ran 22.55.

:14:31. > :14:40.22.12 three years ago with wind assistance. I am not sure that Mark

:14:41. > :14:46.will be threatened. It is Christine Day of Jamaica in one, Christine

:14:47. > :14:48.Ohurogu in two, Shana Cox in three and Stacey-Ann Smith in four. The

:14:49. > :15:22.women's 200m. Shana Cox is looking stronger

:15:23. > :15:27.towards the final few metres. Strong win. A good time and a very, very

:15:28. > :15:32.good win for Shana Cox. I wonder if the other two might get back after

:15:33. > :15:37.Christine Day had gone. But they could not get there. Showing a Cox

:15:38. > :15:42.-- Shana Cox going away from the field towards the end. The steam day

:15:43. > :15:48.was out quickly but soon struggling. Stacey-Ann Smith and Shana Cox, very

:15:49. > :15:54.powerful, Shana Cox when she got the momentum going. She had the strength

:15:55. > :15:58.in the latter stages of the race. Christine Ohurogu, the 400m style

:15:59. > :16:03.did not quite have the accelerator there. She could not make up the

:16:04. > :16:05.ground in the latter stages. Shana Cox, keeping her form and looking

:16:06. > :16:41.very impressive indeed. A strong performance for Shane Cox.

:16:42. > :16:50.Probably eight tentative run from Christine? We don't know what stage

:16:51. > :16:54.she is at in her training. All the preparation is geared for the end of

:16:55. > :17:01.the season. So it is hard to be critical. She is going through a

:17:02. > :17:06.difficult -- different phase two many of the athletes. Christine

:17:07. > :17:12.likes to build her way into the season, so I would not read too much

:17:13. > :17:16.into this. She is with Phil. Christine, great to see you in

:17:17. > :17:22.Manchester. I know you love this kind of event. And happy birthday!

:17:23. > :17:33.30 today. Thank you, I finally made it. It has been ten years, and it is

:17:34. > :17:44.good to still be running well. You made it here and you have come full

:17:45. > :17:49.circle. Yeah, it is true. I made the Olympic team for Athens here. Quite

:17:50. > :17:58.sentimental. Great to see you. Good luck going forward. Thank you very

:17:59. > :18:02.much! From one Olympic champion to another. Greg Rutherford has joined

:18:03. > :18:07.me. You got the win. Talk us through that competition. It is always nice

:18:08. > :18:10.to win. The performance itself was wobbly way down on where I was

:18:11. > :18:17.hoping to be. It is one of those things. I was not quite as quick as

:18:18. > :18:21.I have been in the last month. But it is good to go up against top

:18:22. > :18:26.competitors and will pull it out of the bag somehow and scraper win.

:18:27. > :18:31.That is the way I want to go through the season, keep winning. One of the

:18:32. > :18:33.things we have noticed with this temporarily built track is that

:18:34. > :18:38.sometimes for the jumpers, the timing is not easy. That was one of

:18:39. > :18:43.the biggest things for me today. Speed is one of the biggest things

:18:44. > :18:47.for an athlete. When you hit the board with maximum force, that

:18:48. > :18:53.pushes you in a different direction. But these are things you learn to

:18:54. > :18:58.deal with. There were no discrepancies with the board, which

:18:59. > :19:03.was nice. I was a bit of last seen! It was fine from that point of view.

:19:04. > :19:08.But it was nice to come out here and win. A fantastic crowd and a

:19:09. > :19:12.beautiful backdrop. It is an improvement from last year's

:19:13. > :19:18.competition. How are you going to take the next few weeks? The next

:19:19. > :19:22.competition is about three weeks' time. So I am going to get back into

:19:23. > :19:26.solid training and/or couple of weeks of hard work. I have been a

:19:27. > :19:33.bit ill, so I want to get over that. Thank you for speaking to us

:19:34. > :19:39.and good luck with the rest of the season. So, just one more race to

:19:40. > :19:42.go, the men's 150m. Can Yohan Blake and the fastest race in history? We

:19:43. > :19:48.will explain that after we have heard from the man himself. It is

:19:49. > :19:56.good to be back in England. First time in Manchester. That is what I

:19:57. > :20:03.love about England. The crowd is always great. They cheer you on, no

:20:04. > :20:14.matter where you are from. I can't wait. I have always wanted to tackle

:20:15. > :20:19.the 150m. How do you feel, physically? I feel really good. When

:20:20. > :20:23.I was training, everything was falling into place. Nothing really

:20:24. > :20:30.out of the ordinary. I feel really good in myself. Usain Bolt,

:20:31. > :20:34.streaking away from the field! That is super fast, incredibly fast!

:20:35. > :20:40.Usain Bolt ran here a few years ago. He set the world best for

:20:41. > :20:44.150m. Do you think you are in the kind of shape that could challenge

:20:45. > :20:53.his time? I feel like my old self, and my old self is really fast. I

:20:54. > :20:57.just want to execute a good race. It is something I can manage. I have

:20:58. > :21:06.been wanting to tackle it for a long time. It is not going to be rammed a

:21:07. > :21:17.curve, it will be down a straight, which I am good at. I just need my

:21:18. > :21:21.composure. You never know. There is no doubt about it, Yohan Blake is in

:21:22. > :21:28.a good state of mind. He feels like he is ready. In the sunshine, it is

:21:29. > :21:33.25 to 30 degrees. The wind is sometimes blowing a bit too strong.

:21:34. > :21:43.Potentially instore, the fastest race in history, which we are now

:21:44. > :21:51.going to explain via this graphic. Colin, explain this? The 100m, you

:21:52. > :21:54.spend the first 30 metres accelerating, so you don't get the

:21:55. > :21:59.chance to hit a maximum speed before the end of the race. The 200m, in

:22:00. > :22:02.contrast, is firstly around a bend, which slows down your ultimate

:22:03. > :22:07.speed, that also your tying up at the end. You get slower, so again,

:22:08. > :22:12.you lose the fact of the fastest average speed. The 150m, because it

:22:13. > :22:17.is on a straight line, you have the opportunity of acceleration and

:22:18. > :22:21.maintaining it all the way through to the finish. Hopefully, that makes

:22:22. > :22:26.it simpler to understand why you get that highest average speed. Ten out

:22:27. > :22:33.of ten in maths /physics for Colin Jackson! And we were not expecting

:22:34. > :22:37.that! How motivated do you think he is by the fact that it is Usain Bolt

:22:38. > :22:42.that holds the record? Of course, he is going to love that. They have

:22:43. > :22:47.this rivalry, which is a healthy one. You need that in any sport. The

:22:48. > :22:52.head to head is what people remember. To get it today would be

:22:53. > :22:56.fantastic. We missed him last year. He has been injured. I think he is

:22:57. > :23:03.in good shape. He looks confident. It is all for the taking. He has not

:23:04. > :23:08.raced much. No, he hasn't. He has won a couple of 400m, just to test

:23:09. > :23:13.general fitness in Jamaica. It is all about his state of mind and his

:23:14. > :23:18.belief in what he can do. Let's not play this down. That time of Usain

:23:19. > :23:24.Bolt's is very quick indeed. To try to reproduce that will be tight, but

:23:25. > :23:27.if anyone can do it, Yohan Blake is the man. Hold onto your seats, it is

:23:28. > :23:59.the men's 150m. Here is Steve Cram. Yohan Blake has run a 200 this year,

:24:00. > :24:05.in March, his first 200 for over a year. That rank him 42nd in the

:24:06. > :24:10.world in 2014 so far. He said he was 60% fit. He now says he has moved

:24:11. > :24:19.on, so what does he have in store for us over 150m? Mark Lewis-Francis

:24:20. > :24:29.has got his season off to a start in the British league last week. When

:24:30. > :24:39.Blake is fit, his season comes to a crescendo towards the end of the

:24:40. > :24:48.year. He won in Daegu. Double Olympic silver medallist. Good to

:24:49. > :24:54.see him back. Kemar Bailey-Cole has only run 10.35 so far this year in

:24:55. > :25:03.the maker. -- in Jamaica. It is a bit of a headwind, to be fair. Chris

:25:04. > :25:10.Brown has had so many fourth places for so long. He was world indoor

:25:11. > :25:21.champion and finished second in this year's world indoor Championships

:25:22. > :25:26.over 400. So that time, 14.35 was that in the rain here in 2009 by

:25:27. > :25:36.Usain Bolt on the very same day, the 17th of May. That was exactly five

:25:37. > :25:38.years ago. And there is a big season ahead for Blake. Question marks

:25:39. > :25:55.about Bolt's fitness. Away goes Blake, gets a good start.

:25:56. > :25:59.Brown has got a good start as well. And the gap starts to appear. Yohan

:26:00. > :26:05.Blake shows his class, starts to pull away. It is all about him and

:26:06. > :26:11.clock now. Yohan Blake, striking for the line. The wind was good for him,

:26:12. > :26:15.but perhaps he is right in his indication of where his fitness is .

:26:16. > :26:21.As I said earlier, I think we will see the best from Yohan Blake later

:26:22. > :26:27.in the year. Although it was a challenge to him to run as quick as

:26:28. > :26:33.Bolt did so early in the year, that was a good clocking nonetheless.

:26:34. > :26:38.Quicker than any British athlete has ever run this 150 metre straight.

:26:39. > :26:42.Not as quick as Tyson Gay and certainly not as quick as Usain

:26:43. > :26:47.Bolt. He got a good start. Brown macro was also up there with him.

:26:48. > :26:53.But then he started to move away. He was looking good, strong. Technique

:26:54. > :27:06.is good. Start to tie up a bit towards the end. He has not raced

:27:07. > :27:10.much, just that 200 race in March. He is perhaps not as fluent as Usain

:27:11. > :27:14.Bolt at times. That is one of the reasons they call him The Beast. It

:27:15. > :27:22.is not just his training, but when he is running, he is a powerful

:27:23. > :27:43.sprinter. We will have a word with Blake shortly. Let's do the result

:27:44. > :27:48.first. Tremendous performance. Not quite the world rescue a chasing.

:27:49. > :27:57.Tommy about the performance? Performance was good. I have to give

:27:58. > :28:02.God thanks. I had had an injury. I don't want to find an excuse. It was

:28:03. > :28:04.a good race. I just give up thanks. How did you find the whole

:28:05. > :28:10.experience here, running down the middle of Deansgate with all these

:28:11. > :28:16.fans so close to you? It was great. The support was good. It was a

:28:17. > :28:21.really nice experience for me. And what about gauging what you needed

:28:22. > :28:25.to do over the course of 150m on a straight as opposed to bend running,

:28:26. > :28:30.which you are exceptional at? I am really good down a straight, but

:28:31. > :28:38.today was not a good day for me. But it was OK. And now you are back

:28:39. > :28:43.after problems last year with injury. What does this year hold for

:28:44. > :28:49.you? This year is the return of The Beast. I will just go out there and

:28:50. > :28:57.have fun. We hope you come back for some more of this. All the best.

:28:58. > :29:01.Thanks for talking to us. JONATHAN EDWARDS: so, Yohan Blake

:29:02. > :29:08.takes the 150m here at the Great City Games. At no record, Colin.

:29:09. > :29:12.Yeah, a lot was hanging on him to try and break Usain Bolt's world

:29:13. > :29:20.record, but it is a world record for a good reason. It is difficult to

:29:21. > :29:24.break. Yohan Blake has not raced at all in 2014. It takes time to get

:29:25. > :29:37.into your racing groove. I am sure when he returns, he will be able to

:29:38. > :29:44.do this easily. In terms of his average speed and top speed, 26 was

:29:45. > :29:51.the top speed. It gives you an idea of how quick these guys are running.

:29:52. > :29:56.Yeah, you literally saw the difference when he hit his top

:29:57. > :30:01.speed. He was fluid. His relaxation is something to behold. He is a

:30:02. > :30:04.great move, but like Colin says, the cadence and form takes time to embed

:30:05. > :30:09.when you have been injured. The rhythm is slightly off. It was

:30:10. > :30:13.interesting to watch, Colin, because for quite a small and muscular

:30:14. > :30:19.athlete, you thought he would be fighting his form, but none of it.

:30:20. > :30:23.No. Yohan Blake is blessed with incredible frequency. He gets to his

:30:24. > :30:28.top speed and can maintain that worry well. And he enjoys that. When

:30:29. > :30:33.you have that kind of turnover, when you hit the floor with power and

:30:34. > :30:36.aggression, it fills you with confidence. And when you are flying

:30:37. > :30:42.and running well, that feeling is sensational. Even though he may be a

:30:43. > :30:46.small man compared to some sprinters, Yohan Blake is

:30:47. > :30:50.magnificent in holding his form. We hope to see the big head to head

:30:51. > :30:58.between him and Usain, who has delayed the start of his. He was due

:30:59. > :31:02.to be in Rome, but won't be. I would be disappointed if we do not get to

:31:03. > :31:06.see those two athletes healthy and at their best, coming together,

:31:07. > :31:13.because there will be fireworks, no doubt. The fastest man ever and the

:31:14. > :31:16.second-fastest man over the 100m and 200m. It has been a great day in

:31:17. > :31:28.Manchester. Let's look back at some of the headlines. Greg Rutherford

:31:29. > :31:34.won the competition, marginally over 8m. Not perhaps the form he and we

:31:35. > :31:39.had hoped for. Tiffany Porter took the 100m hurdles in fine style. She

:31:40. > :31:47.showed great early-season the 100m hurdles in fine style. She

:31:48. > :31:52.in the rarely run 200m hurdles, Meghan Beesley showed a clean pair

:31:53. > :31:59.of heels to the rest of the field. Quite a performance. Well, plenty

:32:00. > :32:04.more athletic still to come on the BBC. This is what is coming up,

:32:05. > :32:09.starting with more Diamond League athletics. That is from Shanghai.

:32:10. > :32:13.That is on the red button from 1pm tomorrow. Look out for Philips

:32:14. > :32:22.adobo. He is going in the triple dump. I think he has jumped 16.7.

:32:23. > :32:30.Watch out for that. From 7pm on the 5th of June, Denise will be in Rome.

:32:31. > :32:34.No Usain Bolt. Then the Diamond League comes to Great Britain on the

:32:35. > :32:39.weekend of the 11th and 12th of July. That is from Glasgow. It is

:32:40. > :32:47.from where the Commonwealth Games will take place. Mark your diaries,

:32:48. > :32:55.the 21st of May, BBC One, 10:35pm, a tribute, a documentary about David

:32:56. > :32:58.Coleman. The quite remarkable David Coleman. We are back on air tomorrow

:32:59. > :33:05.at 10am for the Great Manchester Run with highlights on BBC Two at 6pm.

:33:06. > :33:10.Lots to look forward to. We are just about done here in Manchester. Just

:33:11. > :33:15.pick out your highlights so far. For me, very unexpected win by Meghan

:33:16. > :33:20.Beesley. Really enjoyed seeing her showing real form. I hope she has a

:33:21. > :33:25.great season because she has been knocking at the door for a little

:33:26. > :33:31.while now. It is time we have our new stars in the 400 metres

:33:32. > :33:37.hurdles. Lots of expectation to Richard Kilty having won the world

:33:38. > :33:42.indoor title. -- for Richard Kilty. His reason was fair. He had just

:33:43. > :33:47.come off the plane from the US. He did well to go under the ten point

:33:48. > :33:59.to barrier again. We are looking. Ten from him. It is May! He wants a

:34:00. > :34:03.lot! Come June, July, August, I am pretty sure he will be able to turn

:34:04. > :34:09.it on. The birthday girl, Christine Ohurogu. Again, early days for her.

:34:10. > :34:17.She comes in to form late. Tiffany Porter I also thought was all

:34:18. > :34:24.sounding -- outstanding. We are back tomorrow. Wilson Kipsang in the

:34:25. > :34:32.Great Manchester Run. Here it was all about the men's 150m. I wanted

:34:33. > :34:36.to say that Usain Bolt had been beasted. It did not quite turn out

:34:37. > :34:53.like that. A beautiful day in Manchester. We will see you

:34:54. > :35:01.tomorrow. Starting to come through! Will he win it? Yes, he does! A very

:35:02. > :35:04.good win from Shana Cox. Yohan Blake, watch the clock. 14.71.
