:00:48. > :00:54.A very good afternoon to you, welcome to coverage of the 2014

:00:55. > :00:58.Great North Run weekend, which has already got off to a flying start.

:00:59. > :01:01.These images from the magnificent opening ceremony which took place

:01:02. > :01:04.here on the banks of the Tyne on Thursday evening, setting the scene

:01:05. > :01:06.perfectly for what is to come tomorrow when we celebrate the

:01:07. > :01:10.1,000,000th finisher in the Great North Run. Something never before

:01:11. > :01:13.achieved in the running world. Tomorrow will be an historic day.

:01:14. > :01:16.Tens of thousands streaming across this bridge.

:01:17. > :01:18.Tens of thousands streaming across stand in the record books. Today is

:01:19. > :01:23.not bad either. Quayside is stand in the record books. Today is

:01:24. > :01:27.people, we have seen the junior and the mini Great North Run. For the

:01:28. > :01:31.next 90 minutes it is all about street athletics coming at the end

:01:32. > :01:34.of what has been a great athletics season. Away they go, first time.

:01:35. > :01:43.What incredible sprinting. season. Away they go, first time.

:01:44. > :02:01.comes! And the smile is there, for all to see. Great Britain get the

:02:02. > :02:08.gold! A coming-of-age. What a story. That was my chance, that was my

:02:09. > :02:14.opportunity. Yeah, 2014 has been a vintage year. Denise, was it a

:02:15. > :02:21.little bit unexpected, it was so good? Unexpected, maybe, but

:02:22. > :02:24.definitely a pleasure to watch. We thoroughly enjoyed watching our

:02:25. > :02:27.young athletes blossomed, and really take medals at these important

:02:28. > :02:31.championships this year. Commonwealth Games, European

:02:32. > :02:35.Championships. Also the really quick times they have been able to

:02:36. > :02:39.produce, particularly British female sprinters, who have just shone, they

:02:40. > :02:44.have been absolutely outstanding. Something Steve Cram mentioned in

:02:45. > :02:48.commentary was about athletes taking their chances. Lots of athletes

:02:49. > :02:52.recognise this was their opportunity. The whole Commonwealth

:02:53. > :02:57.Games, it was going to be important to deliver medals, and they did.

:02:58. > :03:00.That gave confidence coming into the European Championships, and it was

:03:01. > :03:06.the most successful ever, and that includes the era of you two. And you

:03:07. > :03:10.as well. Coming to the end of this long and busy season, athletes wary

:03:11. > :03:15.of mind and body, but nothing like a good head to head to get the

:03:16. > :03:22.adrenaline going. A new event this year is the 500 metres. Christine

:03:23. > :03:29.Ohuruogu against a lid child. And the 800 metres star, Lyndsey Sharpe

:03:30. > :03:33.-- Eilidh Child. Greg Rutherford and Chris Tomlinson continue their

:03:34. > :03:35.rivalry this afternoon, local favourite Tomlinson will have the

:03:36. > :03:38.crowd on his side against the Olympic champion who has added

:03:39. > :03:42.Commonwealth and European golds to his collection. Sprint star Jonnie

:03:43. > :03:47.Peacock is the world and Paralympic champion, at this year has not had

:03:48. > :03:49.things is own way over 100 metres. American world record-holder Richard

:03:50. > :03:53.Browne has been the man with the winning feeling. We also have the

:03:54. > :03:59.men's and women's mile races taking place under the Tyne Bridge, Ella

:04:00. > :04:08.Lagat, winner here in 2011 and 2012, and spell Kiprop. -- Asbel

:04:09. > :04:14.Kiprop. Goodbye to Andy Turner comedy hangs up his spikes in

:04:15. > :04:19.Newcastle, and he is up against the best, Merritt, world record-holder.

:04:20. > :04:25.Another world record-holder, Allyson Felix, is in town. She is against

:04:26. > :04:30.Britain's latest sprint star, Jodie Williams. This is what this

:04:31. > :04:34.afternoon 's timetable looks like. And basically, all with these

:04:35. > :04:38.events, you almost have no time to have a cup of tea or a nip to the

:04:39. > :04:43.loo, because it is incredibly busy. The men's long jump at about 3pm.

:04:44. > :04:54.The first event on track will be the women's 150m. We have the timetable

:04:55. > :05:02.up now. It all finishes with Andy Turner in his final race at 3:50pm.

:05:03. > :05:06.So, locks to look forward to, Colin and unease, pick out your

:05:07. > :05:12.favourite. Got to be the women's 500m. Not run very often, but the

:05:13. > :05:16.girls will have done it in training, speed endurance. I don't think

:05:17. > :05:19.Christine will be looking forward to it, she has found the 400 hard this

:05:20. > :05:25.year, but a great head to head. Colin? For me it is a bit more

:05:26. > :05:29.nostalgia, the departure of Andy Turner. I hope he really enjoys it

:05:30. > :05:33.today. It is a unique atmosphere and he has always said he enjoys

:05:34. > :05:37.competing at these city games. Well Andy Turner will be on this bit of

:05:38. > :05:41.track, the other side of the river we have the men's long jump,

:05:42. > :05:45.featuring Greg Rutherford, Olympic champion. He is to records of the

:05:46. > :05:51.way to the grand slam, and we look forward to seeing him. It has been

:05:52. > :05:54.quite a summer for this guy, two gold medals, how do you reflect as

:05:55. > :05:59.you stand here on what is going to be a fun day? It has been strange.

:06:00. > :06:03.Coming into this year I was not sure where I would be, with the injury I

:06:04. > :06:07.sustained last year. Things started well and got better and better. To

:06:08. > :06:10.be honest, I am over the moon with the way I managed to stay fit and

:06:11. > :06:15.healthy between the Commonwealth and Europeans. I managed to get them

:06:16. > :06:19.both. Andy Turner managed to do that in 2010 and he was one of the people

:06:20. > :06:23.behind me saying, you can do this, keep going and get it done. I am

:06:24. > :06:27.thankfully for everybody around me for helping me stay on the straight

:06:28. > :06:33.and narrow. It has been a successful year, down to 18, my coach, physios,

:06:34. > :06:38.everybody has been fantastic. -- a team. You will want to do well for

:06:39. > :06:42.the crowd who have come to see you, but it is a joyous occasion and you

:06:43. > :06:45.can celebrate the year? It is one of my favourite events of the year, and

:06:46. > :06:49.it is strange for people to understand, as it is just a street

:06:50. > :06:53.event and four jumps from six people, but the crowd is extra

:06:54. > :06:56.special. Everybody who watches has a great time, music playing, and we

:06:57. > :07:00.get behind each other before each jump, which is a bit different in

:07:01. > :07:05.some of the big competitions. I love it, and I always see it as the final

:07:06. > :07:09.hurrah every year. In forward to finishing this one and resting a

:07:10. > :07:14.bit. This is the last one for you? It is going to have to beat for me.

:07:15. > :07:16.I was keen to go to the Continental cup and compete for team Europe but

:07:17. > :07:21.we said yesterday it was probably not a good idea. I have been run

:07:22. > :07:25.down, starting to get a bit of man flu. I want to be at my desk. I

:07:26. > :07:36.still want to win, no matter what, so I will be trying hard no matter

:07:37. > :07:39.what. -- I want to be at my best. I feel I would not be at the level I

:07:40. > :07:43.need to be to win and the Continental cup. Thanks for

:07:44. > :07:48.explaining that, enjoy the day, and well done on a great season. Thank

:07:49. > :07:50.you very much. We are looking forward to seeing Chris Tomlinson

:07:51. > :07:54.and Christian Taylor going in that one as well. We will focus on the

:07:55. > :07:58.track for the women's 150 metres, time to say good afternoon to our

:07:59. > :08:02.commentary team of Steve Cram, Paula Redcliffe and first of all Andrew

:08:03. > :08:07.Cotter on. COMMENTATOR: Thank you very much, Jonathan. Three British

:08:08. > :08:13.athletes will go here, they are on the track at the top of the picture

:08:14. > :08:15.on the Gateshead side of the Tyne. This is the line-up with three

:08:16. > :08:21.British athletes, great excitement over British printing a moment, in

:08:22. > :08:24.particular perhaps British women's sprinting. Allyson Felix will be

:08:25. > :08:33.very hard to beat indeed, she is in lane three. And there is Allyson

:08:34. > :08:38.Felix. Like a few athletes competing here today, she is fresh from her

:08:39. > :08:43.efforts in Brussels last night. It was a very, very impressive run over

:08:44. > :08:52.200 metres from Allyson Felix. Again, it was up against a really

:08:53. > :08:55.high quality field. And she really blew that feel the way with her

:08:56. > :09:27.world leading time. Having if you technical problems on

:09:28. > :09:29.BBC1, hoping to return to the athletics in a few moments time,

:09:30. > :09:46.staying . This is BBC1, apologies for the

:09:47. > :09:48.technical problems, we are hoping to return to the athletics in just a

:09:49. > :10:18.few seconds time. Do stay with us. You are watching BBC1. We are hoping

:10:19. > :10:22.to get back to the Great North CityGames in just a few moments

:10:23. > :10:25.time. Unfortunately we are having one or two technical problems which

:10:26. > :10:30.our engineers are trying to sort out as we speak. As soon as we hear

:10:31. > :10:34.more, I will pass it onto you, and as soon as we can get back the

:10:35. > :10:45.action we will go straight back to it. OK, fingers crossed we seem to

:10:46. > :10:51.have got everything sorted out, so let's return

:10:52. > :11:02.COMMENTATOR: Bianca Williams... Has to hold on over the last... Jodie

:11:03. > :11:10.Williams trying to get closer. Nobody can catch Asha Philip, big

:11:11. > :11:19.surprise there. The time of 16.70. Asha Philip, of coarse this event is

:11:20. > :11:24.not run two of them, but a very quick and impressive run from Asha

:11:25. > :11:28.Philip. Because we expected that the 200 metres specialists, Jodie

:11:29. > :11:32.Williams and Allyson Felix in particular, and Bianca Williams,

:11:33. > :11:35.would certainly have the strength to come through the second half of the

:11:36. > :11:42.race. But after the strong start Asha Philip did not yield. Allyson

:11:43. > :11:47.Felix, perhaps she was just a little bit jaded after her superb run in

:11:48. > :11:50.Brussels last night. But we did expect her to pick up and drive

:11:51. > :11:55.through. Jodie Williams started to make a move, but the gap was

:11:56. > :12:00.significant at 100 metres, and the last 50, it did not really close.

:12:01. > :12:07.Asha Philip is going through 100 metres in 11.03. They couldn't get

:12:08. > :12:10.there. Jodie Williams and Allyson Felix, such great things expected of

:12:11. > :12:11.Jodie Williams. We mentioned she was a little bit disappointing in

:12:12. > :12:19.Brussels last down the field in the 200 metres.

:12:20. > :12:23.Perhaps just a little bit of fatigue for Allyson Felix. Really nowhere

:12:24. > :12:32.near the woman just coming into your shop now, Asha Philip. More than

:12:33. > :12:38.holding on, there, beating a very high quality field to win in 16.69.

:12:39. > :12:47.A good win for Asha high quality field to win in 16.69.

:12:48. > :12:50.fair that we spoke to all three digit athletes, because what a

:12:51. > :12:54.season it has been for the British female sprinting. You took the

:12:55. > :12:57.victory, Ashya, and gave this crowd something to cheer straight off. I

:12:58. > :13:01.just wanted to something to cheer straight off. I

:13:02. > :13:07.amazing, we never get to run here, so it was wonderful being here.

:13:08. > :13:11.These girls are amazing. Winning medals like the Commonwealth and

:13:12. > :13:17.Europeans, they just did amazing. To have the British relay record this

:13:18. > :13:21.year, it stood from 1980 and you have taken it not once but twice

:13:22. > :13:24.this year. Yeah, very fantastic from the girls, we have worked together

:13:25. > :13:30.all year and work very hard. Finally we have beaten the British record,

:13:31. > :13:34.twice. So it is looking positive for the World Championships and

:13:35. > :13:37.Olympics. Jodie, what is it like to be year with the crowd so close to

:13:38. > :13:43.the track, doing an unusual events like 150 metres? It is amazing, and

:13:44. > :13:47.nice to have the crowd watching the warm up and interacting. An amazing

:13:48. > :13:51.event and a one off, so everybody feels privileged to be year. Thanks

:13:52. > :13:54.for the entertainment. Let's hear it for our free British sprinting

:13:55. > :14:06.stars. -- three. A great win for Asha Philip. What

:14:07. > :14:08.awaits Andy Turner in the last race of his industrial career? That will

:14:09. > :14:13.be right at the end of this afternoon 's programme, the very

:14:14. > :14:18.last race, and he is on this side of the river as we look at it. This

:14:19. > :14:21.150-metre track is just part of the athletics stadium that has been

:14:22. > :14:26.created, if you like, on both sides of the river. On the Newcastle side

:14:27. > :14:30.is where the milers are just about getting ready to line-up. They will

:14:31. > :14:35.head under the Tyne Bridge and back onto this side of the river. Ten

:14:36. > :14:41.athletes taking part, including the big names of Asbel Kiprop of Kenya.

:14:42. > :14:45.Bernard Lagat and Augustine Choge, they were not there last night,

:14:46. > :14:52.perhaps a bit fresher. Taking on the best of Great Britain 's young

:14:53. > :15:00.talent, Charlie Grice, Tom Lancashire, and last years winner

:15:01. > :15:04.from the States, Garrett Heath. There they are, over on the far

:15:05. > :15:09.side, just beyond where Greg Rutherford is long jumping. So not

:15:10. > :15:16.too many people right at the start line but there are thousands lining

:15:17. > :15:23.the route. And joining me, Paula Radcliffe.

:15:24. > :15:34.The likes of others like Garrett Heath last year popped up and

:15:35. > :15:39.surprisingly run it, it is a different side to running and they

:15:40. > :15:41.will get split times, add half a mile and three quarters of a mile,

:15:42. > :15:47.it is not like running on mile and three quarters of a mile,

:15:48. > :15:55.you need to know the course a little bit and be an expert at racing the

:15:56. > :16:01.road miles, and he knows how to judge this event and judge this

:16:02. > :16:06.event perfectly. Coming off the back of that 13.06 in Berlin, he just

:16:07. > :16:14.pipped his opponent, that showed a big return back to form this year.

:16:15. > :16:18.Running along the quayside on the Newcastle side, we were with about

:16:19. > :16:27.20,000 other people, you will see highlights of that great ceremony,

:16:28. > :16:28.highlights of that tomorrow, it was absolutely random, they have done

:16:29. > :16:32.highlights of that tomorrow, it was good job of resetting the course,

:16:33. > :16:46.they have had Junior North runs and all sorts going on. The pavement is

:16:47. > :16:50.clear for these elite runners. And, he had a choice to win the Diamond

:16:51. > :16:56.League, he just got picked for the race but he won the Diamond race for

:16:57. > :17:02.the 1500, and he looks just out of sorts, I have two say that he did

:17:03. > :17:07.not look good here last year. Hopefully he can produce something.

:17:08. > :17:11.One of them has gone to the front as they just turn the corner, past the

:17:12. > :17:18.Guildhall and they will be onto the bridge. Yes, they will be in the

:17:19. > :17:23.half mile mark in a little while. I don't know whether it is the 400

:17:24. > :17:36.metres, they went through that Marco, at that stage, around about

:17:37. > :17:42.2.02, we did not quite get an exact 800 metres split, when they turned

:17:43. > :17:47.the corner, 500 metres to go, a bit unusual to see this man at the front

:17:48. > :17:54.because he has got some good pace, but he might just think these 1500

:17:55. > :17:56.men, the young Brits, taking to the pack, someone has to break that

:17:57. > :18:02.soon. Yes they will have a pack, someone has to break that

:18:03. > :18:11.move soon, Tom Lancashire going onto his shoulder, using that hill to do

:18:12. > :18:14.a bit of damage, the 500 metres start, getting the downhill run, up

:18:15. > :18:18.onto the track, they are probably start, getting the downhill run, up

:18:19. > :18:25.coming back now, about 400 metres left to raise. There they are, Tom

:18:26. > :18:30.Lancashire is kicking hard, there are starting to take a bit closer

:18:31. > :18:36.order, last year 's winner, very well placed at the moment, it is Tom

:18:37. > :18:42.Lancashire, a difficult result, a long run in, being squeezed for a

:18:43. > :18:49.bit of room, Charlie Grice looking for a bit of room, all of them

:18:50. > :18:54.spreading across the road, sprinting to the front wall of a sudden, he

:18:55. > :19:03.can sense as they head onto the track, 150 metres to go. They are

:19:04. > :19:09.going to have to go some to catch this man, he has stolen a march.

:19:10. > :19:18.Finishing very quickly, you might just run out of room. Is he going to

:19:19. > :19:22.get there? He wins it. Just outside four minutes, that is a new record

:19:23. > :19:31.around here, beating the times set by Mo Farah, in 2009, still not the

:19:32. > :19:36.four-minute mile and all of the action in the last five and 600

:19:37. > :19:40.metres or so, three or 4-mac different men making a move but it

:19:41. > :19:47.was this man, who was in Brussels as well last night, he had the

:19:48. > :19:54.overnight, but he had a real big push and the strength to hang on. He

:19:55. > :19:58.got himself into perfect position, downhill, up the small ramp onto the

:19:59. > :20:04.track and he managed to steal a bit of a march, getting himself into a

:20:05. > :20:10.perfect position, he was hanging on, and I think, that his opponent

:20:11. > :20:17.realised that he was not going to get there in time and he's doffed. I

:20:18. > :20:31.think that he judged it badly, the race on the right-hand side. And he

:20:32. > :20:37.managed to hold on until the end. Welder winner, has won easily and he

:20:38. > :20:43.is now down there with us -- well the winner. This is the man who has

:20:44. > :20:44.given so many people so much entertainment, just winging it on

:20:45. > :20:56.the line, tell us what it is like to

:20:57. > :21:01.win? First of all thank you for the invitation to invite me, I was very

:21:02. > :21:12.tired with the Diamond League but I am crazy really. That was a quality

:21:13. > :21:18.field, with the likes of burn at the GATT, I did win this competition, I

:21:19. > :21:24.fought with them and the British guy. Well done on taking the

:21:25. > :21:33.victory, well done and thank you for talking to us. Thank you very much.

:21:34. > :21:37.Next up is a competition, we are all looking forward to the rally run of

:21:38. > :21:44.500 metres, there is the 800 metres specialist at the European 400

:21:45. > :21:51.metres champion Amy child, and we also have Christine Ohuruogu. The

:21:52. > :21:59.supreme big-time competitor saves her best for when medals are at

:22:00. > :22:04.stake. It is a clean start. We know you as a world champion over 400

:22:05. > :22:09.metres and yet we will see you run had an unusual distance, 500, what

:22:10. > :22:13.are your thoughts? 2-mac it is very unusual, I don't know what to think,

:22:14. > :22:20.I have not run a 500 metres for ages. It is very tough, especially

:22:21. > :22:25.as generally, you would run through the first 4-mac within a reasonable

:22:26. > :22:31.time, and then you have two push for the last hundred, which is hard

:22:32. > :22:40.enough, so it is one of those killer distances which I hated when I was

:22:41. > :22:43.training and I do not miss it. You are known for your super strong

:22:44. > :22:51.finish, is that going to stand you in good stead? LAUGHTER

:22:52. > :22:55.I hope so. I honestly don't know what to expect, but we are all out

:22:56. > :23:00.to enjoy ourselves, it is the last race of the season for most of us,

:23:01. > :23:04.it is one of those nice things to finish off the season and have a

:23:05. > :23:17.laugh, and go off and enjoy our holiday. Christine Ohuruogu is going

:23:18. > :23:29.fast and quick. Enjoy the race. Yes please, blow me down the track. This

:23:30. > :23:32.is intriguing, let me put a theory to you, it is too short for

:23:33. > :23:41.Christine and too long for Christine. It is too long for

:23:42. > :23:48.Christine and too short for Lindsay. She ran last night, she is

:23:49. > :23:52.a little bit fatigued, early flight, she is definitely up for it. The

:23:53. > :23:56.only thing that I worry is that nobody really has got a strategy for

:23:57. > :24:01.this distance, because none of them have got a strategy, that is why it

:24:02. > :24:05.is a great race for us all to watch. I think the 800-metre girls, will

:24:06. > :24:11.attack it because that is the way they will have done it, they do time

:24:12. > :24:17.trials over 600 metres, this five for me actually suits them best. Who

:24:18. > :24:28.is going to finish fourth? How about that? Alison Leonard. Jenny Meadows

:24:29. > :24:32.may be. I think it is exciting. Jenny has not had a year like the

:24:33. > :24:37.other girls have had. She has got fresh legs, again, they will just

:24:38. > :24:42.take it out hard and it will be interesting to see what Christine

:24:43. > :24:47.will do. She has not been in the greatest shape, she was not going to

:24:48. > :24:52.do any individual events? She has had a lot of fun in competing, when

:24:53. > :24:56.athletes return to the purity of the sport and don't worry about the

:24:57. > :25:02.pressure of the championships and early and lots of money. -- and

:25:03. > :25:10.earning. It will be interesting to see the pacing, a penny for your

:25:11. > :25:15.thoughts? It will cost you a lot more than that, Jonathan. I think

:25:16. > :25:24.that Jenny Meadows is going to have a great run. I will stick with the

:25:25. > :25:28.middle distance people. What a great race we have in prospect. Mind you,

:25:29. > :25:32.if you walk down here with Eilidh Child, we noticed that the first

:25:33. > :25:37.hundred metres is practically downhill so they get it for

:25:38. > :25:44.practically nothing, Lindsay was running in Brussels, what a great

:25:45. > :25:49.race for her in the Diamond League. After extricating herself a little

:25:50. > :25:57.bit, there was 150 to go and she almost got there, running inside,

:25:58. > :26:02.but I'm sure she is a little bit fatigued. There is a lot of jollity,

:26:03. > :26:09.look at the shoes of Christine Ohuruogu, she is wearing a nice set

:26:10. > :26:13.of pink running shoes that she has not used before. I said it was a

:26:14. > :26:20.downhill start but they need to be careful, after a little stumble,

:26:21. > :26:23.Lynsey Sharp going hard, Jenny Meadows and Alison Leonard just

:26:24. > :26:29.struggling for a bit of pace but their strength will show surely.

:26:30. > :26:33.Stretched across the road, Christine Ohuruogu is right across here. They

:26:34. > :26:40.have just got to pace this right, they have properly got about 250 to

:26:41. > :26:44.go, Lynsey Sharp is in the lead, now Alison Leonard and Jenny Meadows are

:26:45. > :26:50.a lot closer, they will be able to see the track and the tracking

:26:51. > :26:56.signals say about 150 to go, look at Christine Ohuruogu, really pushing

:26:57. > :27:01.on, she is in those barking road racing shoes pulling away, Lynsey

:27:02. > :27:09.Sharp, but it is Christine Ohuruogu, has she got the legs to

:27:10. > :27:13.last? Christine Ohuruogu is the 400 metres specialist, it looks like she

:27:14. > :27:21.will win this easily in the end. Lynsey Sharp is second. 67. 48, that

:27:22. > :27:26.is a very good time, excellent running, and they really went from

:27:27. > :27:32.the start. I think the most surprised athlete is Christine

:27:33. > :27:37.Ohuruogu, well done. A good bit of fun, that is a great race, I think

:27:38. > :27:42.more races like that would be really interesting, even during the season,

:27:43. > :27:46.even pre-season during the end of the season, bringing the 400 metres

:27:47. > :27:56.specialist alongside the 800 metres guide. That is a quick time. -- the

:27:57. > :28:01.tundra metres people. They struggled really to get on terms, that is

:28:02. > :28:11.pretty fast. She is doing her best to spite racing, look at Christie,

:28:12. > :28:14.really relaxing, Christine Ohuruogu always finishing strong in a

:28:15. > :28:30.400-metre race, having enough to spare. Well I reckon that the crowd

:28:31. > :28:35.really enjoyed that. Whenever you get a chance to race over or under

:28:36. > :28:39.distance, you can relax a little bit, not so much pressure of course,

:28:40. > :28:47.and I bet you that they would not mind doing that again. 600 is the

:28:48. > :28:53.more popular distance to run if you like between 400 and 500. I think

:28:54. > :29:04.that Christine will be delighted with a win but she should be pretty

:29:05. > :29:13.impressed with that time as well, are they all down there? We have got

:29:14. > :29:16.three of them. I have indeed, I have got one, 2-mac and three, what a

:29:17. > :29:19.win, you are talking to me yesterday that you are not quite sure about

:29:20. > :29:26.the 500 metres and you held on superbly? I must admit it was not as

:29:27. > :29:32.bad as I thought, but the girls, they did a good job of setting up

:29:33. > :29:38.the first 200 metres, I was not quite sure how to run so I just

:29:39. > :29:46.tagged onto them. That is all new to you, not running side-by-side like

:29:47. > :29:50.that, nor indeed in trainers? Yes, I slipped, it was good fun, a long way

:29:51. > :29:56.but it was good fun. What a season you have had, had you reflect back

:29:57. > :30:01.on all of the pressure? Yes it has been such a great season, it is nice

:30:02. > :30:04.to come out here afterwards and have a bit of fun and enjoy things. I am

:30:05. > :30:17.looking forward to a nice rest. Another fantastic performance, you

:30:18. > :30:22.have delivered again, medals, Glasgow, summed it up? It has been

:30:23. > :30:25.an amazing year, and so nice to come back here and be in front of a

:30:26. > :30:31.British crowd at an amazing event, and the turnout amazing. I suppose

:30:32. > :30:35.it is nice to be able to mingle with them and give back to the people

:30:36. > :30:41.that have been supporting you? Yes, this summer has been amazing.

:30:42. > :30:45.British crowds are the best, although we are biased. So thank you

:30:46. > :30:48.everyone. Thank you for the entertainment, especially today, it

:30:49. > :30:54.was a brilliant race. See you again soon.

:30:55. > :31:01.Well, across the other side of the river from all that fun and games

:31:02. > :31:08.see the long jump runway down there, where they started the mile race not

:31:09. > :31:13.too long ago. Home favourite competing down there, Middlesbrough

:31:14. > :31:24.lad, Chris Tomlinson. Always get plenty of support, here. Greg

:31:25. > :31:29.Rutherford and JJ Jegede each as well from Great Britain. So, for

:31:30. > :31:38.rounds of jumps, and now Tomlinson's first effort. Looks as

:31:39. > :31:49.if he had a little bit of room to spare on the board. Not sure he is

:31:50. > :31:53.too pleased with it. I don't think Chris will be too pleased, as you

:31:54. > :31:58.said. At the beginning of the season I went to the big track meet at

:31:59. > :32:03.Hengelo, one of the better non-Diamond league meets, and Greg

:32:04. > :32:11.was jumping, and they brought the crowd down into the track, around

:32:12. > :32:14.the track, and I thought it was a great idea, to pause the track meet

:32:15. > :32:17.for 30 minutes and concentrate on the long jump, and everybody came

:32:18. > :32:23.around the track as they are here, and it created a good atmosphere.

:32:24. > :32:28.The guys enjoyed it as well. It is serious condition, but good fun.

:32:29. > :32:34.Tomlinson down in third place, three people having jumps so far. JJ

:32:35. > :32:40.Jegede out in front, Mike Hartfield the American in second place. Still

:32:41. > :32:43.free more athletes to go. Christian Taylor, as Jonathan Edwards was

:32:44. > :32:51.mentioning, the perennial triple jump champion, he will be going

:32:52. > :32:57.later on. Greg Rutherford of course will be the man to beat. I am sure

:32:58. > :33:00.he will be lifted by this crowd. It is a wonderful setup and it really

:33:01. > :33:07.creates a whole stadium around the time, here. As we looked down on

:33:08. > :33:13.this, this is the Newcastle side, we are located by the main track on the

:33:14. > :33:18.Gateshead site. I bow to the local knowledge of others like Steve Cram.

:33:19. > :33:22.Well done. That is the River Tyne, I believe. We are meant to talk

:33:23. > :33:24.Well done. That is the River Tyne, I this new place called Newcastle

:33:25. > :33:30.Gateshead, wherever that is, probably somewhere in the middle of

:33:31. > :33:35.the river. And here on the Newcastle side, this is Gaisah of the

:33:36. > :33:44.Netherlands, used to complete -- side, this is Gaisah of the

:33:45. > :34:01.Compleat for garner many moons ago. --, -- compete. First effort of 7.

:34:02. > :34:13.76. --, -- compete. First effort of 7.

:34:14. > :34:18.result, the distance of Ignisious Gaisah. Twice a silver-medallist,

:34:19. > :34:20.result, the distance of Ignisious wants for his new country of the

:34:21. > :34:22.result, the distance of Ignisious Netherlands, and back in 2000 for

:34:23. > :34:30.Ghana. Not the best Netherlands, and back in 2000 for

:34:31. > :34:33.Ignisious Gaisah, just shy of seven metres, down in fourth place of the

:34:34. > :34:38.four who have gone so far, but all good fun.

:34:39. > :34:45.The men's 150 metres coming up shortly, but we still smiling that

:34:46. > :34:51.women's 500m. First of all the start, it was like, out of the way.

:34:52. > :34:57.It was like being out in the sales, it was hilarious. They weren't thank

:34:58. > :35:03.you for that. But how wrong were we? Christine Ohuruogu shocking

:35:04. > :35:07.everybody. Not me. You didn't call Christine, did you? I played it

:35:08. > :35:13.quite safe, I stayed on the fence because I could not call it. It was

:35:14. > :35:15.going to be an interesting race. It was comfortable but uncomfortable

:35:16. > :35:19.because she was so unsure at the beginning and she relied on the

:35:20. > :35:24.other is to pace her. I thought it was interesting that she just tucked

:35:25. > :35:27.in, let the race unfold in front of her, and then used what we know

:35:28. > :35:31.Christine can do, which is just extend her lead, and enjoy the race.

:35:32. > :35:36.She looked so relax down the home straight. Nice to see the athletes

:35:37. > :35:40.out of their comfort zone. We saw the junior athlete earlier doing a

:35:41. > :35:45.50-metre relay, I like that idea as well. It is exciting, what we want

:35:46. > :35:53.from athletics. It brings something fresh and new to the event. Men's

:35:54. > :35:57.one and 50 coming up next. Kilty gets a flying start explanation mark

:35:58. > :36:08.a lot of guys coming through. Harry is jumping up and down, he

:36:09. > :36:14.gets the bronze. Moving forward and trying to be competitive. Kilty

:36:15. > :36:15.might just about get there. Did he win it? Gold for Great Britain next

:36:16. > :36:30.promotion it is a massive change round. Four

:36:31. > :36:35.big medals. Becoming world champion dramatically changed my lifestyle.

:36:36. > :36:41.The man from Scotland! I love doing this meet. It brings a different

:36:42. > :36:45.dimension to our sport. I cannot wait to see the crowd. But it

:36:46. > :36:57.athletics at the moment is on a massive height. It is awesome. And

:36:58. > :37:15.this is how they line up, for the men's 150m.

:37:16. > :37:24.Kilty from this neck of the woods. He might be struggling with a

:37:25. > :37:28.hamstring injury. Interesting to see how he goes over 150 metres, a great

:37:29. > :37:35.starter as well, world indoor champion. But he just tweaked

:37:36. > :37:40.something in theory. Ran in Ireland. But he was very keen to be here. Kim

:37:41. > :37:48.Collins, always a fan favourite. Very entertaining runner, great

:37:49. > :37:51.servant of the sport. 38 years old now, but still able to go to the

:37:52. > :37:57.Jamaican embassies and party last night in Brussels, briefly. Taking

:37:58. > :38:01.it very seriously today. Michael Rogers will be the man to beat. He

:38:02. > :38:08.may well have won the Diamond race if he had not been disqualified. It

:38:09. > :38:18.was an amazing run from Gatling last night. And Harry Aikines-Aryeety,

:38:19. > :38:29.European bronze-medallist, he ran a very good 10.08 this season. 150

:38:30. > :38:32.metres for Aikines-Aryeety is possibly getting on the middle

:38:33. > :38:37.distance, he is not a 200 metres man. So he may be hanging on. But

:38:38. > :38:43.then again that's what we said about Asha Philip and she went on to win

:38:44. > :38:47.impressively. Kilty in one, Kim Collins in lane two. Harry

:38:48. > :39:02.Aikines-Aryeety outside Rogers in lane four. Men's 150m. Away they go,

:39:03. > :39:11.and as it was with Asha Philip 's, Kilty gets away quickly. Kim Collins

:39:12. > :39:15.up alongside him now. Mike Rogers now, the Jamaican, Kilty hanging on.

:39:16. > :39:24.And indeed he might well have got it. Mike Rogers and Richard Kilty in

:39:25. > :39:29.a photo finish. Impressive run, beware the injured runner, hamstring

:39:30. > :39:33.niggle no more. Richard Kilty was strong. Looked as though he might

:39:34. > :39:38.have been fading off a strong start, but then came back. It is either

:39:39. > :39:44.Kilty or Mike Rogers. Kim Collins gave up the ghost towards the end of

:39:45. > :39:51.the race. Harry Aikines-Aryeety moving strongly here. We thought he

:39:52. > :40:00.might fade, but he and Asha Philip 's have bucked the trend, with the

:40:01. > :40:06.shorter sprinters staying the distance. Rolling and dipping, but

:40:07. > :40:12.it is between those two macro. " The close, close. The result has just

:40:13. > :40:16.come up on our computer, as we look at it there, and it has been given

:40:17. > :40:21.to Richard Kilty on the far side in lane one, as it was for Asha Philip

:40:22. > :40:22.'s, the magical lane. The crowd have Jessie Nat, and so has Richard

:40:23. > :40:33.Kilty. So let's get his thoughts. The whole gang are with me. I will

:40:34. > :40:36.start with Richard. A real homecoming for you, world indoor

:40:37. > :40:40.champion, you want medals in the summer, and this caps it off. It is

:40:41. > :40:44.the best end to the season I could wish for, coming home in front of my

:40:45. > :40:48.own people and taking the win. It was all about coming out and having

:40:49. > :40:52.fun with the rest of the guys and entertaining the crowd. I think we

:40:53. > :40:56.did a good job. Great to end my season with a win on home soil. You

:40:57. > :41:02.have done them proud. Did you think you have that one? I don't know who

:41:03. > :41:06.one, it was close to call, but he ran a great race. You were in

:41:07. > :41:12.Brussels last night, now here, is the body holding up? I'm ready to go

:41:13. > :41:21.to sleep. Harry, you are probably ready for a nap. You got a medal at

:41:22. > :41:25.the Europeans. It has been an amazing year for myself and bridges

:41:26. > :41:31.athletics. When you look at the Europeans and the emergence of new

:41:32. > :41:35.sprinters, is big guys, we not good for this sort of distance. But I am

:41:36. > :41:39.really pleased with what has been going on. We are bringing athletics

:41:40. > :41:43.to the people and it is amazing. Congratulations on a great summer.

:41:44. > :41:48.Let's hear it for Harry, Mike, and the winner, Richard Kilty.

:41:49. > :41:55.So, a good win for Richard Kilty, a good race it was. We will step down

:41:56. > :41:58.a bit closer to the river, right on the edge we have the women's pole

:41:59. > :42:02.vault today, and Fabiana Murer, the Brazilian, the Diamond race winner.

:42:03. > :42:08.Really the woman to beat this season. She has skipped the opening

:42:09. > :42:14.height of four metres 20, four metres 32, going to four metres 42.

:42:15. > :42:25.She and Jenn Suhr deciding to open at 4. 42. It might be between these

:42:26. > :42:35.two macro. One failure so far for Murer at this height. Looking a bit

:42:36. > :42:40.breezy down there. Better. Clear. That was very solid and clean from

:42:41. > :42:49.Murer. So after one failure, she goes clear at 4. 42. First to go

:42:50. > :42:51.clear that height. It sometimes disorientate the

:42:52. > :42:55.clear that height. It sometimes being outside their natural

:42:56. > :43:00.environment here, with different points of reference around, it is

:43:01. > :43:10.not a clean stadium environment. Sometimes the heights are a little

:43:11. > :43:19.bit less. Now Jenn Suhr. Can she repeat the feat of Murer? Also one

:43:20. > :43:30.failure at 4. 42. Olympic champion in London, world indoor

:43:31. > :43:36.record-holder. There we go, room to spare, plenty of room on her second

:43:37. > :43:42.attempt, she goes clear. Indoors she has gone over five metres, just. So

:43:43. > :43:48.4. 42 should not be too much of a problem when she gets it right. So

:43:49. > :43:57.she and Fabiana Murer both clear now at 4. 42.

:43:58. > :44:05.Well, a short walk from the Baltic, which is where the pole vault is,

:44:06. > :44:11.across the Gateshead millennium Bridge, takes you to wear the mile

:44:12. > :44:14.will be starting. The men's mile earlier, now the women's mile is set

:44:15. > :44:21.to get under way. A very good field indeed. Last year 's winner not

:44:22. > :44:29.starting. Laura Weightman has had a great year, the local athlete from

:44:30. > :44:31.Northumberland. Laura Muir, the new Scottish record-holder. And Hannah

:44:32. > :44:33.England, who has won this race on three occasions.

:44:34. > :44:38.England, who has won this race on good British athletes taking on a

:44:39. > :44:51.good field here. Treniere Moser also in this field. For Laura Muir,

:44:52. > :44:56.Hannah England and Laura Weightman, the three of them have seen plenty

:44:57. > :45:01.of each other this summer. Another chance for them to contest what

:45:02. > :45:02.should be a pretty good race. As I said in the men's race, you never

:45:03. > :45:14.know who will come out said in the men's race, you never

:45:15. > :45:20.road mile. We will get Paula 's microphone sorted in a second.

:45:21. > :45:27.It is a different style of racing in the road race, we saw her really

:45:28. > :45:32.going and taking the race, we have the road race, we saw her really

:45:33. > :45:35.not seen that so far here. It was pretty slow for

:45:36. > :45:40.not seen that so far here. It was hundred metres but now she has

:45:41. > :45:43.not seen that so far here. It was decided to push on, and now, Laura

:45:44. > :45:51.is just moving into try and close that, she has stolen a bit

:45:52. > :45:54.is just moving into try and close lead. Yes it is not very quick and

:45:55. > :46:02.we have two be a bit wary, of the split times, these road miles, you

:46:03. > :46:08.have twisting and turning sections and straight sections and it kind of

:46:09. > :46:13.evens itself out. The main thing is that the athletes wants to stay in

:46:14. > :46:17.contention, to see if they can make a move. It is interesting that Laura

:46:18. > :46:23.Mueller wants to make a good honest race bit, Laura Weightman of course

:46:24. > :46:30.won the silver medal, she is behind, won a bronze and European

:46:31. > :46:34.Championships. Hannah England, both championships were disappointing but

:46:35. > :46:41.she still ran well, as they pass under the Tyne Bridge. Laura Mueller

:46:42. > :46:55.is still in France. Yes Laura Muir has been very disappointed with her

:46:56. > :47:00.championship. -- Laura Muir. Yes she did not have a good race, she ran

:47:01. > :47:06.out of legs in the first one, and then did not do well in the second.

:47:07. > :47:11.So she wants to just make this an honest race, and maybe use the few

:47:12. > :47:15.inclines, the athletes will have taken the opportunity to run around

:47:16. > :47:19.this course to get to know it, as they climb up over the bridge. They

:47:20. > :47:26.will have a bit more of a steep climb, steep drop with about 500

:47:27. > :47:36.metres to go. Laura Muir is still leading, as they cross this bridge,

:47:37. > :47:43.222 or so. Hannah England on the inside. And these four, you would

:47:44. > :47:49.have expected them to be the 4-mac class acts, confident and strong,

:47:50. > :47:56.Laura Weightman looking as if she is working up the hill. And Helen Obiri

:47:57. > :48:05.for the first time making a move, about 500 metres to go. The others

:48:06. > :48:12.are just fading a little bit. Helen Obiri is kicking hard, she has had

:48:13. > :48:21.an up she did win the championships. The only person with her, is Laura

:48:22. > :48:27.Muir. Yes, Helen Obiri is looking very strong, she just bided her time

:48:28. > :48:33.and swept past Laura Muir, she has had a look and now it seems like she

:48:34. > :48:42.is clear although Laura Muir is fighting strong. And third is

:48:43. > :48:47.closing that gap a little bit. Helen Obiri has not got this one yet, they

:48:48. > :48:55.are all charging, Laura Muir has still got a chance, the Scottish

:48:56. > :49:01.record-holder, and Laura Muir is in France, Helen Obiri is behind, still

:49:02. > :49:09.plenty of danger, but Laura Muir has got 200 metres, they are too far

:49:10. > :49:17.away, and Laura Muir will have just enough to hang on, she is first,

:49:18. > :49:22.Hannah England is third, and Helen Obiri is behind, she misjudged it.

:49:23. > :49:29.And Laura Muir got it perfectly right. She waited and waited, after

:49:30. > :49:34.Helen Obiri pushed on. And she was rewarded with a win in the end. That

:49:35. > :49:40.will be some consolation for her after what has been a disappointing

:49:41. > :49:45.year at the Championships, at the indoor Championships, where she went

:49:46. > :49:48.as a medal contender, and the Commonwealth Games is obviously such

:49:49. > :49:54.a big event for her when it was in Scotland. There was disappointment

:49:55. > :49:58.in a race for her and European Championships, this will help her to

:49:59. > :50:04.look forward with a bit of confidence. Fighting hard. One of

:50:05. > :50:14.the worlds best 1500 metre runners now, the mile in style. Tired after

:50:15. > :50:20.a long, hard season, it is always a good way to finish with a win. Just

:50:21. > :50:25.about judging it right, it is never easy, you can see the finish ahead

:50:26. > :50:31.of you, it looks a bit closer than it actually is. She just kicked a

:50:32. > :50:36.bit too early. Helen Obiri. Then her legs run out, she is as strong an

:50:37. > :50:43.athlete as you want to find, a great 3,000-metre runner, so Laura Muir

:50:44. > :50:52.Scotland finishing off with a good win. And in second place, an

:50:53. > :50:57.excellent race, beating plenty of good racers behind her. That is a

:50:58. > :51:02.tremendous performance, ladies and gentlemen let us hear it for Laura

:51:03. > :51:07.Muir, just incredible, summit up for me, it seems like Helen Obiri did

:51:08. > :51:13.not quite time it right and you did? I knew I was in great shape, so I

:51:14. > :51:19.just thought, let us just go for it, and then when Helen Obiri passed me,

:51:20. > :51:24.she was strong but I knew I had a sprint finish and I did not give up.

:51:25. > :51:30.You have shown what a talent you are, but this year you had some

:51:31. > :51:35.cruel times, but this is what you had been going for? Yes, this year

:51:36. > :51:41.has been really hard, I have shown that I have got the ability but I

:51:42. > :51:46.need to learn more, the experience, that will come with time. How had he

:51:47. > :51:51.enjoyed the experience, coming onto the track, a great crowd? It is

:51:52. > :51:57.great, home support is always fantastic and I really enjoyed it. I

:51:58. > :52:08.hope you come back strong next season, ladies and gentlemen, once

:52:09. > :52:13.again Laura Muir. Thank you. STUDIO: That was a great performance, from

:52:14. > :52:20.Laura Muir, tomorrow, our attention turns to a slightly longer distance,

:52:21. > :52:30.13.1 miles, for the 34th blooper Great North Run. -- BUPA Great North

:52:31. > :53:17.Run. MUSIC I am delighted to say that

:53:18. > :53:24.alongside me there is the cause record-holder for the half

:53:25. > :53:27.marathon, Paula Radcliffe. First of all, an incredible achievement, for

:53:28. > :53:30.the great North run to get to this milestone?

:53:31. > :53:36.the great North run to get to this really big deal for a road race to

:53:37. > :53:38.have a million finishes, it is huge for Britain and great for Newcastle

:53:39. > :53:43.and the north-east. We for Britain and great for Newcastle

:53:44. > :53:47.sport means here, someone like me has grown up watching the Great

:53:48. > :53:52.North Run on TV, it was always going to be my first half marathon, no

:53:53. > :53:57.other choice really, come to the Great North Run run fast. The minute

:53:58. > :54:00.anybody says I'm going to run the half marathon, people will say the

:54:01. > :54:04.Great North Run because that is the first one to go to, there was a huge

:54:05. > :54:10.celebration and it will be very special tomorrow for that millionth

:54:11. > :54:16.person. And also, it is not just the Great North Run celebrating, but the

:54:17. > :54:19.IAAF have recognised it as well? That is important because road

:54:20. > :54:23.racing is the fastest growing, particularly women's road racing is

:54:24. > :54:26.the fastest growth sector of our sport and it is important to

:54:27. > :54:31.recognise that and how important it is for that everyday runner to have

:54:32. > :54:40.Run to work towards. Forward to the Run to work towards. Forward to the

:54:41. > :54:48.he must be in with a good chance? It is fair to say that he has

:54:49. > :54:53.definitely got any easier race, this year, but I think that he is coming

:54:54. > :54:57.into it in a good place now. We saw that he was a bit shaky going into

:54:58. > :55:01.the European Championships. that he was a bit shaky going into

:55:02. > :55:05.looked good. In the 2-mac mile in Birmingham, he is going well to

:55:06. > :55:08.finish his season of. He will want to finishes season

:55:09. > :55:14.finish his season of. He will want and not run so well would be

:55:15. > :55:19.another. I don't think that would be and not run so well would be

:55:20. > :55:23.good at all, I think that he has taken a Q Knox, with the marathon

:55:24. > :55:27.not going according to plan, that has really upset his year, he wants

:55:28. > :55:35.to finish on a high note. He will take a break, tilting up for next

:55:36. > :55:40.year. In terms of the women's race, one of the top runners is missing,

:55:41. > :55:46.but there is still a strong field? Yes, one of them is returning after

:55:47. > :55:55.having a child, she ran a fast tempeh and she is coming to post a

:55:56. > :55:58.fast time. Looking to Gemma Steele to have a good run as well. Thank

:55:59. > :56:05.you to have a good run as well. Thank

:56:06. > :56:10.North Run, tomorrow. Let us see how Greg Rutherford is getting on as the

:56:11. > :56:24.rain starts to fall down. COMMENTATOR: Seven .76 is the top of

:56:25. > :56:29.the competition so far. Greg Rutherford, it has been another

:56:30. > :56:31.great season, he keeps on delivering. Olympic champion. World

:56:32. > :56:45.champion, Commonwealth Games champion. The crowd are so close in

:56:46. > :56:49.it we had been talking about it, great atmosphere, great

:56:50. > :56:59.amphitheatre, as they begin to make a bit of noise for him. I think he

:57:00. > :57:12.knows that he has got a bit better stop as the jumper is struggling. It

:57:13. > :57:19.is close to 7.5 metres. The British jumper, one of the other British

:57:20. > :57:22.jumpers, 7.76 with his first jump. Greg Rutherford is going

:57:23. > :57:26.jumpers, 7.76 with his first jump. challenge that with this one, three

:57:27. > :57:38.more jumps to come after that. He is enjoying into racks with the fans,

:57:39. > :57:47.after jumping that distance. It is close to 7.5 metres, that is his

:57:48. > :57:57.first jump, three more to come, to try and get close to his opponent.

:57:58. > :58:02.It is a great rivalry, featuring 2-mac single leg amputees, it really

:58:03. > :58:05.is some head to head, we can catch up with what happened when they met

:58:06. > :58:15.in the Glasgow Diamond League in Hampton Park. Peacock, twitching out

:58:16. > :58:24.of the starting blocks. Side-by-side. So close! Richard

:58:25. > :58:32.Brown thinks you might have got it and I think that he might be right.

:58:33. > :58:36.Look at that start, it is a blistering start, really impressive

:58:37. > :58:40.and he must be thinking that he has got this, Brown is right on his

:58:41. > :58:49.shoulder and he just leans ahead of him in the end. What a race that

:58:50. > :58:57.was, the 2-mac of them know each other so well, Brown has had the

:58:58. > :59:02.best of 2014 and he said a new world record for the T 44 class, he often

:59:03. > :59:07.considers the 200 metres to be his best event but he is also very good

:59:08. > :59:11.at the hundred metres as well. That world record last night, I just

:59:12. > :59:18.wonder whether it has taken a bit of the fizz out of him, but he's

:59:19. > :59:26.shaking his head and he is fine. Jonnie Peacock will have his work

:59:27. > :59:36.cut out. The Netherlands runner, he was runner-up in the IPC competition

:59:37. > :59:44.in Swansea. 25 years of age, 11th .8 is his best of the year. Jonnie

:59:45. > :59:51.Peacock, he won the European title, he did not come to the Birmingham

:59:52. > :59:57.Diamond League. Richard Brown is not shy and

:59:58. > :00:04.retiring, I'm pretty sure that the energy has knocked over to today,

:00:05. > :00:12.this guy was in the race as well, 19-year-old Felix of Germany.

:00:13. > :00:22.A big new talent, and he will be looking to improve on his time.

:00:23. > :00:28.Getting closer and closer to the two big names, Jonnie Peacock and

:00:29. > :00:35.Richard Browne. The weather just changing a little bit, a fewer

:00:36. > :00:41.brothers going up, a future it is being put on, they are obviously not

:00:42. > :00:50.the locals. -- a future it's being put on -- a few jackets being put

:00:51. > :01:02.on. Two of the biggest names in Paralympic sport. Jonnie Peacock

:01:03. > :01:05.again gets a cracking start here, but Browne right alongside him, and

:01:06. > :01:13.should have the measure of him. He gets ahead. Browne still going away,

:01:14. > :01:18.and he wins by a metre and a half. Ten. 95, and the great form he has

:01:19. > :01:22.shown all season continues here. Peacock having to settle for second

:01:23. > :01:30.best to a man who is very much on top of his game. Congratulations and

:01:31. > :01:35.smiles, and a bit of jollity there, and why not? They are a great

:01:36. > :01:40.entertainment, these two macro. Another great performance. A world

:01:41. > :01:44.record last night in Brussels and another eight win today. Peacock

:01:45. > :01:48.usually good out-of-the-box but not quite as good with his pick-up. And

:01:49. > :01:55.look at this, accelerates away through the halfway point, a metre

:01:56. > :02:02.and a half by the end. And if there was any sense of a possibility of

:02:03. > :02:04.any fatigue from last night, it was completely blown away. Great to

:02:05. > :02:10.watch these two macro. Bit of an edge between them,

:02:11. > :02:15.probably not the best of mates all the time off the track, and that is

:02:16. > :02:20.what all sport thrives on. Wouldn't quite call at Hamilton and Rosberg,

:02:21. > :02:25.but the two of them probably won't be spending too much time socially

:02:26. > :02:29.together away from the track. They certainly provide us with which

:02:30. > :02:54.entertainment -- rich. Stand the other side of me, last

:02:55. > :03:00.time we spoke you were being wheeled off, if you remember. You recovered

:03:01. > :03:03.perfectly? Yes, I had a good race last night in Brussels, got on a

:03:04. > :03:09.flight this morning, came out here and did it again. It was a new world

:03:10. > :03:13.record last night over 200 metres. Yes, I jumped up to the 200 metres

:03:14. > :03:18.this year and I was focused on that, that's why the back part of my race

:03:19. > :03:21.has got much better. So I am breaking records and breaking some

:03:22. > :03:28.more. I hope to go home and take a long needed rest and get ready for

:03:29. > :03:31.next season. Did you want the world record when you crossed the line

:03:32. > :03:35.here as well? I felt good this morning, and I wanted to go for it,

:03:36. > :03:39.but it is what it is, the last race of the season and I won, so I cannot

:03:40. > :03:43.complain. You have had a great season, keep it going next year, and

:03:44. > :03:45.we love the rivalry between you and Johnny, great for the sport. Most

:03:46. > :03:46.definitely, hopefully next year I can take the

:03:47. > :03:55.Johnson, Carl Lewis, Marie hopefully next year I can take the

:03:56. > :04:00.world champion to belt from him. World records are great and all.

:04:01. > :04:06.Great race, let's hear it for Richard, everyone.

:04:07. > :04:16.That's looking down on the start of the pole vault. But we will have

:04:17. > :04:25.across to the long jump and Greg Rutherford. His second attempt. 7.

:04:26. > :04:32.41 in the first round. Two Britons out in front in JJ Jegede, and Chris

:04:33. > :04:37.Tomlinson has jumped 7. 59. Greg Rutherford has got that one a little

:04:38. > :04:42.bit further. Again a puff of the cheeks, again he knows there is more

:04:43. > :04:53.there. A fine season and looking to finish it well. Not too bad on the

:04:54. > :04:57.board. 15, 20 centimetres more to spare. The key to great jumping well

:04:58. > :05:02.is his speed. He is obviously spare. The key to great jumping well

:05:03. > :05:07.that great sprint group now. He said at the beginning of the programme he

:05:08. > :05:08.was feeling a little bit under the weather, he looks a little bit

:05:09. > :05:14.sluggish, and running into a weather, he looks a little bit

:05:15. > :05:18.headwind. Just behind Chris Tomlinson and JJ Jegede out in

:05:19. > :05:24.front. Rutherford out in first place. Back to the other side of the

:05:25. > :05:30.river. It has come down to a showdown between Abbey and Europe

:05:31. > :05:36.and Jenn Suhr, and the American has a chance to win because Murer has

:05:37. > :05:43.had three failures at this site. To failure so far for Jenn Suhr.

:05:44. > :05:50.Everybody else fell by the wayside at four metres 42. And this time she

:05:51. > :05:58.has it. So Jenn Suhr wins the women's pole vault here at the Great

:05:59. > :06:02.CityGames. With her clearance at the third and final time of

:06:03. > :06:03.CityGames. With her clearance at the 52, to take the victory ahead of

:06:04. > :06:12.Fabiana Murer. She may go on and have another jump or so, try for

:06:13. > :06:25.another height. I think she will, but she wins anyway with that

:06:26. > :06:33.clearance of 4. 52. In the distance you can see the scene of tomorrow's

:06:34. > :06:37.start for the Great North Run, and to the left, the football ground, St

:06:38. > :06:44.James' Park. Can I ask you a controversy will question, are you

:06:45. > :06:50.not from somewhere closer to Newcastle than Sunderland? I was

:06:51. > :06:58.actually born in Gateshead. Where is Gates said -- where is Gateshead's

:06:59. > :07:06.football team? Next attempt, Hartfield, the American, third

:07:07. > :07:10.round. 7. 33 his best so far. JJ Jegede leading the way at the

:07:11. > :07:12.moment. Tomlinson, that's pretty tight on the board from Mike

:07:13. > :07:25.Hartfield. tight on the board from Mike

:07:26. > :07:37.managed here, apart from a few low-fives? Tremendous high-5 for

:07:38. > :07:49.work, missing nobody out. Waiting for confirmation, there we are, 7.

:07:50. > :07:56.25. He remains in fifth place. So this is the start list for the

:07:57. > :08:07.womens 100m hurdles. Jasmin Stowers starting in lane one, Tiffany Porter

:08:08. > :08:16.goes in lane three. There is Tiffany Porter, but in lane one, it is

:08:17. > :08:24.Jasmin Stowers. She has actually run quicker than Ali this year anyway. A

:08:25. > :08:29.bright talent. This is the woman who wrapped up the Diamond league race

:08:30. > :08:32.in Zurich recently. Dawn Harper-Nelson, Olympic champion from

:08:33. > :08:36.Beijing, and if she wins she may well grace us with another cartwheel

:08:37. > :08:43.of celebration. Tiffany Porter will have other ideas. She finally got

:08:44. > :08:51.her hands on a gold medal at the European Championships. Breanna

:08:52. > :08:56.Robins last year was imperious. She ran 12. 26 last year. 33 races, 33

:08:57. > :09:00.wins, one of them winning the world title in Moscow. A little bit off

:09:01. > :09:07.that pace this season, as you might expect. But again, Tiffany Porter, a

:09:08. > :09:10.chance for her to point to the sky before taking on some of the best

:09:11. > :09:38.that America has two offer. Looked to be a little twitch from

:09:39. > :09:42.Donna Harper-Nelson. Tiffany Porter away from the Americans at the

:09:43. > :09:44.moment, Brianna Rollins trying to get back, Dawn Harper-Nelson trying

:09:45. > :09:52.to make an impact, but Tiffany Porter is clear to the line. Well

:09:53. > :09:57.clear of Breanna Robins, Tiffany Porter, out in front really from the

:09:58. > :10:03.start -- Brianna Rollins. Time of 12. 80. Perhaps not the quickest

:10:04. > :10:07.time, but it is a temporary track and some of the times are down a

:10:08. > :10:11.little bit. But it is a good win from Tiffany Porter to beat this

:10:12. > :10:15.high-quality field. Dawn Harper-Nelson, the Diamond league

:10:16. > :10:20.race winner, and she and Brianna Rollins could not get there. Tiffany

:10:21. > :10:25.gets out of the blocks very well. We always expect her to drive out and

:10:26. > :10:29.be explosive, and she did that here. Really settled into a nice rhythm.

:10:30. > :10:33.Kept working hard all the way through to the line. Nobody was

:10:34. > :10:37.gaining any distance on her. She would not have been under pressure

:10:38. > :10:45.and she will be very happy with that victory. Always nice to finish the

:10:46. > :10:49.year off with a victory, I think. Cleanly through the line, not a

:10:50. > :10:53.hurdle clip, unlike Brianna Rollins, who really thumped the last one and

:10:54. > :10:57.still came through for second. But the winner is Tiffany Porter and it

:10:58. > :11:01.has been a good year for her. Rounded down to 12. 79, head of the

:11:02. > :11:13.Americans. What a summer it has been for

:11:14. > :11:16.Tiffany Porter, congratulations on a tremendous season, European

:11:17. > :11:22.champion, among wealth games, you have entered your domestic season to

:11:23. > :11:25.go. I have one more, but it is such a pleasure to be here, I love

:11:26. > :11:30.winning on British soil, you guys are tremendous and thank you so much

:11:31. > :11:37.for coming out to support us. What do you like about running here

:11:38. > :11:40.compared to a stadium? Street races are by far my favourite concept,

:11:41. > :11:45.this is my third time doing the street race this season. I am three

:11:46. > :11:51.43, and I am just really happy to be out here. A word on your season, you

:11:52. > :11:55.have delivered medals year-on-year for us, but you have lived up to the

:11:56. > :12:00.pressure. I am really happy with how things are progressing. To finally

:12:01. > :12:04.get that elusive gold medal, I am just so thrilled, and hopefully it

:12:05. > :12:05.will continue on in the future. Tremendous season, let's hear it for

:12:06. > :12:16.Tiffany Porter. Thank you. COMMENTATOR: From a good British

:12:17. > :12:20.women on this side of the time to the other side, and Greg Rutherford,

:12:21. > :12:27.trying to hunt down his fellow countrymen JJ Jegede, who put in 7.

:12:28. > :12:33.76 in the first round, and just rested since then. Couple of

:12:34. > :12:43.centimetres adrift of Tomlinson, Greg Rutherford. So, third or four

:12:44. > :12:53.attempts -- of four attempts for Greg Rutherford. Oh, that is better.

:12:54. > :13:01.That is better, and might be good enough. He has been making steady

:13:02. > :13:08.improvements through the round. Clean enough, good enough on the

:13:09. > :13:12.board. JJ Jegede leading at the moment with 7. 76, Tomlinson second

:13:13. > :13:28.board. JJ Jegede leading at the with new Merrick seven. 59. -- with

:13:29. > :13:34.7. 59. Too tired even to administer a low-five, but he looked a bit

:13:35. > :13:37.better there. His arms go up comedy has seen the results. 7. 86, you

:13:38. > :13:55.goes into the lead. Rutherford leading at the moment.

:13:56. > :14:03.One more round to go, just for jumps in this long jump. And there he

:14:04. > :14:09.goes. He is probably tired from all the high-fives. Mike Hartfield says

:14:10. > :14:14.thank you very much, can I get on with the long jump now? Fifth place

:14:15. > :14:27.at the moment of this six-man field. His first effort was his best, 7.

:14:28. > :14:34.33. Decides that all is not quite right. Gets back into his zone of

:14:35. > :14:40.concentration. One man clapping behind him to try and get him going.

:14:41. > :14:44.Not sure what is going on over there. Can't quite see from our

:14:45. > :14:50.viewpoint. He is pointing at something but can't quite see what.

:14:51. > :15:01.Maybe he has seen the beach at South Shields and he thinks that is a jump

:15:02. > :15:05.to far. Now the smile has turned into a frown, look at his furrowed

:15:06. > :15:12.brow, he is going back and chatting to Ignisious Gaisah instead. A

:15:13. > :15:15.reminder of how they stand at the moment, JJ Jegede in second place

:15:16. > :15:20.behind Greg Rutherford, who is leading. Mike Hartfield is

:15:21. > :15:24.disappearing off for the day. From that side of the river and all the

:15:25. > :15:26.excitement of Mike Hartfield and his wanderings, we will head back to the

:15:27. > :15:38.other side. Looking back at that woman 100-metre

:15:39. > :15:43.hurdles, I think, that has turned into a really good year after a

:15:44. > :15:48.disappointing games for Tiffany? She had a slow start, she has been

:15:49. > :15:54.preparing for the championship is specifically, she has raised again,

:15:55. > :15:57.she is a lot more relaxed, she has been able to get together the

:15:58. > :16:02.beginning of her race and the end of her race to make lovely fluid

:16:03. > :16:06.hurdling. She got it right last year when she got a bronze medal, she got

:16:07. > :16:13.out reasonably well and she lost a bit of rhythm, that is what you are

:16:14. > :16:18.talking about? That speed and endurance that you do have two

:16:19. > :16:22.having these hurdles, that little bit of fatigue that creeps into the

:16:23. > :16:30.legs towards the end, but she has managed to work free hard onto that,

:16:31. > :16:32.it is a good scalp, that long jump is hopefully sorted out, I am

:16:33. > :16:37.hearing that it is hopefully sorted out, I am

:16:38. > :16:43.sorted out. Let us talk about Greg, he has been complaining about man

:16:44. > :16:50.flu, is three quarters of the way to a Grand Slam, -- years three

:16:51. > :16:53.quarters of the way, he has responded well to the criticism? I

:16:54. > :16:57.think so, he has managed to responded well to the criticism? I

:16:58. > :17:01.board what went wrong about last year, she has come into this year

:17:02. > :17:05.board what went wrong about last and he has been fantastic, I think

:17:06. > :17:08.that we can look forward to next year, a fantastic Greg. Now, my car

:17:09. > :17:10.field is ready year, a fantastic Greg. Now, my car

:17:11. > :17:20.to go to the long year, a fantastic Greg. Now, my car

:17:21. > :17:25.Hartfield. It was possibly a bird that put him off, it might also not

:17:26. > :17:31.have been his jumper. Mike Hartfield is ready now. He is

:17:32. > :17:37.have been his jumper. Mike Hartfield sixth place, of six, which is not

:17:38. > :17:39.too good but he's looking to improve on his 7.33. That is well over the

:17:40. > :17:53.board. Well worth the wait, Mike. It is a

:17:54. > :18:07.big foul, so he will do no better than his 7.33, there is no doubt

:18:08. > :18:12.about it. Yes I know, thanks anyway. I know, Mike has probably not had

:18:13. > :18:18.the best competition, he finishes sixth, but, it is still good fun and

:18:19. > :18:23.it is good for the spectators, and Christian Taylor should be next to

:18:24. > :18:28.go. Look how close the spectators are, when you get to CDs athletes

:18:29. > :18:34.really close, not just from a seat and a stand, with a bit of distance,

:18:35. > :18:38.that is a fantastic experience. Christian Taylor can really get out

:18:39. > :18:42.there, he is a triple jump specialist, the reigning Olympic

:18:43. > :18:46.champion, a diamond race winner this year, and the year before as well

:18:47. > :18:52.but he is also a very good long jumper. 7.49 it is best with his

:18:53. > :18:54.second jump, what did that look like? That is a bit tight on the

:18:55. > :19:10.board, that is a red flag. He will not improve. On

:19:11. > :19:14.fourth place. Long jump is coming towards the closing stages and we

:19:15. > :19:19.will catch up to that, we will build to the final hurdles of the day, the

:19:20. > :19:28.men's 100 metres hurdle, it is the end of a track run and also the end

:19:29. > :19:39.of his career, for Andy. You will tell us what he has been proud of.

:19:40. > :19:44.-- he will. Very strong and powerful run from Andy Turner, he is flying

:19:45. > :19:51.across these hurdles and it is another best. He is treating away,

:19:52. > :20:00.he is going to but come champion. Andy Turner is the European

:20:01. > :20:04.champion. Wow. Great memories of Andy Turner on the big screen, we do

:20:05. > :20:09.not normally do this right before the race but it is a very special

:20:10. > :20:14.occasion, your last competitive race, what is your feeling like? To

:20:15. > :20:20.be honest I thought I would be in a really good place before the start,

:20:21. > :20:24.but I will be honest, I don't feel in much of a state to run this race,

:20:25. > :20:28.it has got to a little bit more than I thought it would, I'm just going

:20:29. > :20:33.to go out to an amazing race, these boys are the worlds best so it is an

:20:34. > :20:38.honour to finish my career in front of all of you guys in Newcastle and

:20:39. > :20:42.in a race with these boys, so thank you everyone.

:20:43. > :20:50.Thank you for talking to us, I know it is unusual, thank you very much

:20:51. > :20:55.for talking to us. Cheers. Thank you. It is a big day for Andy Turner

:20:56. > :21:01.and his family, his family are here to watch, and a career which

:21:02. > :21:06.Jonathan has been saying is a very special and long career, to finish

:21:07. > :21:13.off he has got two of the best men have, in this event. William Shaman

:21:14. > :21:18.is the former British number one, and Aries Merritt and they were in

:21:19. > :21:26.Rob Les are very good. Andy Turner has won the European Championship,

:21:27. > :21:34.I'm sure that the other guys went mind me talking about Andy. -- went

:21:35. > :21:45.mind me. He had the choice of careers. He was a rugby player as

:21:46. > :21:48.well, at athletics and hurdling. That is where he turned his

:21:49. > :21:53.attention to, it has been a great and successful career for Andy, also

:21:54. > :22:03.one which has been through of injuries. Aries Merritt also coming

:22:04. > :22:15.back from some hamstring injuries, this year and last year as well.

:22:16. > :22:21.Andy Turner, is here with his dad, sadly his mum died earlier this year

:22:22. > :22:27.so that is why there is some added emotion. I'm sure that he will be

:22:28. > :22:31.very proud. He is bound to be a bit emotional after a moment like this,

:22:32. > :22:37.we were saying about his injuries I'm not sure that we ever saw quite

:22:38. > :22:42.the best of him. 13.22 is very quick for a hurdler, he has been if

:22:43. > :22:47.nothing else a great member of the British team. Let us see what he can

:22:48. > :22:56.do here full hopefully he can put those emotions in check a little

:22:57. > :23:10.bit. The last race of Andy Turner's career. Shaman is perhaps the

:23:11. > :23:15.quickest way, but Andy Turner is there with him, Andy Turner is doing

:23:16. > :23:23.well, he is trying to get back and it is just about going to be the

:23:24. > :23:28.run-up on the left, and Andy Turner probably just held off the world

:23:29. > :23:34.record holder to third spot. So, I'm sure that he can enjoy himself,

:23:35. > :23:39.there is the rest of the team, he has been a very popular member of

:23:40. > :23:45.the British team, a lot of people saying well done Andy, it is his

:23:46. > :23:49.birthday in a few days time. He will be 34 years of age, and I'm sure

:23:50. > :23:54.that's a night there might be one or 2-mac beers. One or 2-mac have

:23:55. > :24:01.already been put in front of him and why not indeed? Colin is sitting

:24:02. > :24:05.next to me, perhaps you could sum up his career as a hurdler, I said all

:24:06. > :24:11.of those injuries and he had some great highs as well. He was a man

:24:12. > :24:17.who never ever gave less than 100% if his body let him? Absolutely

:24:18. > :24:21.right, he was a true mend a student of the event for example for

:24:22. > :24:26.hurdlers, he was always asking questions, trying to learn more and

:24:27. > :24:30.more, how could he improve, for me one of the biggest problem is that

:24:31. > :24:33.he had was that his body let down on so many occasions, I still don't

:24:34. > :24:38.think that we saw the best of Andy Turner, but I will be honest, they

:24:39. > :24:43.all enjoy being around Andy, they are celebrating the end of his

:24:44. > :24:49.career, in a very positive way. There he is now, just enjoying the

:24:50. > :24:54.applause of the crowd, there will be memories that will always stick with

:24:55. > :25:01.him, you think when the last competition was, saying I was there

:25:02. > :25:07.in Newcastle. We will have a look at the race, let us not analyse the

:25:08. > :25:12.race so much, Andy is one of those people, you need around in teams, he

:25:13. > :25:16.was a very good young talent, then as he came into the team he always

:25:17. > :25:19.performed well, he was always good around other athletes, I am sure

:25:20. > :25:24.that he would have been one of those, if you

:25:25. > :25:33.sat in a room with Andy Turner you would not mind it. No, he was always

:25:34. > :25:37.inquisitive, he asked everybody, he was always brave enough, others are

:25:38. > :25:41.nervous of learning from those around. But if he had a problem he

:25:42. > :25:47.would pick up the phone and bring me, he would text me, he was always

:25:48. > :25:49.in contact to see. He has always wanted to master this event. I hope

:25:50. > :25:54.we don't lose wanted to master this event. I hope

:25:55. > :25:58.he is real quality, what he can give the other members of the team can

:25:59. > :26:02.make a real difference to them, because he has been around for such

:26:03. > :26:09.a long time. A good example to so many of the athletes. It is great to

:26:10. > :26:12.see so many of them down there, the other British team members, Phil

:26:13. > :26:20.Jones is practically a team member of course, let ask and have a talk

:26:21. > :26:24.with Phil Jones. All of the team are celebrating, I have got Jenny

:26:25. > :26:28.Meadows alongside me, who has been a team member for a long time, talk

:26:29. > :26:32.about what a great team member he has been? He's just missed a

:26:33. > :26:37.reliable, he has stood the test of time, he is one of the most popular

:26:38. > :26:41.members, people have got trains to catch, flights to catch but nobody

:26:42. > :26:46.wanted to miss this moment, it is great that he could finish here on

:26:47. > :26:53.the quayside with his team members. It seems like he has got such a

:26:54. > :26:58.great camaraderie, how important is that? Exactly, it is not many times

:26:59. > :27:03.that we have a chance to represent Great Britain, and he has won some

:27:04. > :27:08.fantastic medals, I think a lot of people look up to him. That just

:27:09. > :27:15.shows his character and it really shines through. It did not matter

:27:16. > :27:21.about the victory in the end, thanks for this, Jenny Meadows everybody,

:27:22. > :27:29.one more time for Andy Turner. APPLAUSE

:27:30. > :27:32.Let us quickly nip over to the other side of the river and Greg

:27:33. > :27:39.Rutherford, he has got that third round jump, one of his opponents

:27:40. > :27:47.tweaked something in the first round and did not jump again. Greg

:27:48. > :27:52.Rutherford, is out in front. 7.86. He is looking for one final big jump

:27:53. > :28:01.here. Victory is his, but he has improved with every round so far,

:28:02. > :28:07.7.41, 7.86 and now his final jump. He does look to have gone Babs a

:28:08. > :28:13.little bit further. -- gone perhaps. He really did warm up in this event,

:28:14. > :28:17.he got a bit of speed going, it is not perfect but it is very

:28:18. > :28:25.comfortable. Handshakes and applause for the winner, he will just get

:28:26. > :28:34.confirmation of that result. Chris Tomlinson got close, 7-73 with his

:28:35. > :28:39.final jump. Greg Rutherford, just waiting to see what distance he

:28:40. > :28:47.has, in his final jump, he has got the final victory, 7.86 in round

:28:48. > :28:52.three, and in round four, seven .92, close to eight metres. Greg

:28:53. > :29:02.Rutherford is the long jump champion of the great city games. So just to

:29:03. > :29:09.tidy that up, Greg Rutherford wins. It is a British one, two, three. And

:29:10. > :29:33.in the pole vaulted did come down to two women. -- the pole-vault. And a

:29:34. > :29:36.champagne doused Andy Turner is alongside me, just enjoying the

:29:37. > :29:42.first few minutes of the rest of your life, how does it feel? It

:29:43. > :29:47.feels really good, I cannot describe the emotions that I felt, the last

:29:48. > :29:51.five minutes, I thought I would come here and be fine, I thought I'd be

:29:52. > :29:55.excited to race and that would be it.

:29:56. > :30:01.The slow music and the montages got me, and I welled up. Absolutely

:30:02. > :30:08.amazing. Troubling for words right now to be fair. Me and Denise had a

:30:09. > :30:12.lump in our throats, we feared he would not make it until the end. I

:30:13. > :30:17.thought you were going to go, and it would have set me off actually. It

:30:18. > :30:21.has been so amazing to watch, and to convey how proud we have been,

:30:22. > :30:25.seeing you battle to your injuries time and time again, you make it to

:30:26. > :30:32.the champ injured and give it your best. I appreciate that. I am not

:30:33. > :30:35.the most naturally gifted on this track, I am the person that just

:30:36. > :30:39.worked unbelievably hard, I have given it everything I can. Just an

:30:40. > :30:45.average guy from Nottingham that grafted and grind it. It sounds

:30:46. > :30:48.cliched, but I had a dream, I wanted to compete in the Olympics and

:30:49. > :30:53.running things like this, and I have worked my absolute nuts off to do

:30:54. > :30:57.it. I have no regrets in my career. I have taken a lot more out of it

:30:58. > :31:02.than I could ever have wished for. I am just chuffed to bits. What a way

:31:03. > :31:05.to go out. The most important thing is that sport does not lose you,

:31:06. > :31:10.because you are an incredible example. You have got to graft if

:31:11. > :31:14.you are going to make it to the top. You do, you don't get given anything

:31:15. > :31:19.in this world, you have to go and earn it. Just something you have to

:31:20. > :31:23.adapt to. Exactly, there are people out there training harder than you.

:31:24. > :31:27.You have just got to think I cannot rest on my laurels and rely on

:31:28. > :31:31.natural gift. I have to get every bit of talent out of my body and

:31:32. > :31:36.keep pushing. That's what I think I have done. I am not the most

:31:37. > :31:40.talented athletes out there. I feel I can give hope to the average club

:31:41. > :31:47.athlete that just tries that bit harder. Nice memory of your final

:31:48. > :31:50.race, dip finish with the world record champion. I think you might

:31:51. > :31:58.have just gotten. Let's tell you what is on BBC sport tomorrow. Great

:31:59. > :32:05.North Run from 9:30am, and over to BBC Two at 12pm. We have also got

:32:06. > :32:10.Formula One tomorrow, Lewis Hamilton against Nico Rosberg continues

:32:11. > :32:15.tomorrow. And the Burghley horse trials on BBC Two from 3pm. What a

:32:16. > :32:20.day it has been. We want to say a huge thank you for everything you

:32:21. > :32:24.have given us, Andy. We finished now, time to say goodbye. Tomorrow

:32:25. > :32:34.it is the Great North Run, don't miss it. No one will catch Asha

:32:35. > :32:51.Philip. Just might hang on. He wins it. Look at Christine. Laura Muir

:32:52. > :32:59.will just have enough to hang on.
