:00:18. > :00:23.The Olympics brings together the people of the world in harmony and

:00:24. > :00:32.friendship, and peace, to celebrate what is best about mankind. There is

:00:33. > :00:36.a truth to sport, a purity, a drama, an intensity and a spirit that makes

:00:37. > :00:41.it irresistible to take part in and irresistible to watch. What we are

:00:42. > :00:46.seeing right now is that dreams do come to roof. Humans are stretched

:00:47. > :00:51.to the limit of their abilities. -- country. Living for the moment but

:00:52. > :01:04.making an indelible mark upon history. The champion becomes a

:01:05. > :01:12.legend. Those of us who came to watch witness to moments of heroism

:01:13. > :01:21.and heartbreak. We know more now as individuals and as a nation just

:01:22. > :01:32.what we are capable of. And that knowledge will drive us on. We have

:01:33. > :01:41.lit the flame and lit up the world. Their arson famous words, words that

:01:42. > :01:47.when you read them you know mean high quality, skill, creativity. --

:01:48. > :01:51.there are some famous words. We have stamped those words on the Olympic

:01:52. > :02:04.and Paralympic games of London 2012, made in Britain.

:02:05. > :02:09.Welcome to day 2 of the Muller Anniversary Games here at the

:02:10. > :02:13.Olympic Stadium and if it's half as good as last night you are in for a

:02:14. > :02:18.treat, world records and national records. In two weeks' time the

:02:19. > :02:23.Olympics will be underway in Rio, four years since London 2012. The

:02:24. > :02:27.legacy of London is alive and well as 50,000 people pour into the

:02:28. > :02:28.stadium to enjoy an electrifying afternoon of athletics. Here are

:02:29. > :02:48.some of the stars they will see. That is fantastic. It's going to be

:02:49. > :02:52.Dafne Schippers. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce holds on once again for

:02:53. > :03:02.the world title. Having a brilliant race. My goodness. Dina Asher-Smith

:03:03. > :03:13.is looking fantastic here. It's enormous! It's a huge jump. A

:03:14. > :03:21.staring jump from Proctor. Hudson Smith wins it. That was a fantastic

:03:22. > :03:32.record. She is going to win it. It's a fabulous run from Kiplagat. Mo

:03:33. > :03:37.Farah is going to make it two gold medals for Great Britain. So that is

:03:38. > :03:41.the view over the stadium, a glorious day, temperature inside 28

:03:42. > :03:45.degrees at the moment, but we are not inside right now, you can see

:03:46. > :03:50.the warm up track which is where you will find Michael Johnson as we look

:03:51. > :03:55.ahead to the action which starts at 2:15pm. It is fascinating to come

:03:56. > :03:59.out here and see the athletes warming up and doing final

:04:00. > :04:04.preparations. I have seen you looking at them, are there any new

:04:05. > :04:08.tricks that I haven't thought about? No, but this is where you can find

:04:09. > :04:12.out about the mindset of the athletes, this is where it all takes

:04:13. > :04:17.place because from here you go into the stadium where it all goes down

:04:18. > :04:20.and the finals take place. You see if the athletes looked nervous and

:04:21. > :04:24.if they are interacting with others and if they are on their own, and

:04:25. > :04:31.how relaxed they are. That is David Weir. Katarina Johnson-Thompson wave

:04:32. > :04:37.that you a few minutes ago. You got all excited. I thought she was

:04:38. > :04:40.waving at you! The big stars of athletics are warming up. You can

:04:41. > :04:44.see just by looking at their eyes how they are feeling and what state

:04:45. > :04:51.they are in. This is where the nerds start taking place, you hear about

:04:52. > :04:54.nerves before the race and you are in your hotel and in your comfort

:04:55. > :04:58.zone and left your own devices, but when you are here this is when you

:04:59. > :05:03.see the competition for the day, and you start to see, that looks really

:05:04. > :05:08.good, it's warming up, looking confident, that sort of thing. That

:05:09. > :05:12.can get the nerds going. The athletes who can control their

:05:13. > :05:16.nerves best are the ones who succeed in the end. I'll was want to just

:05:17. > :05:20.see how the athletes are interacting, some of them will have

:05:21. > :05:26.headsets on, listening to music, just nice and relaxed. OK, I would

:05:27. > :05:31.think he looks confident. Some of them might look more concerned and

:05:32. > :05:35.the coach might be rubbing them like this, you know that things did not

:05:36. > :05:42.go well today and they are just... I hope you did not speak to anyone. I

:05:43. > :05:46.did not. Just focused on the task at hand, and that is what you want to

:05:47. > :05:51.do in the warm up area, just focus on the process and what works for

:05:52. > :05:54.you in terms of warming up to get yourself physically and

:05:55. > :05:57.psychologically ready to do battle. I know you are looking forward to

:05:58. > :06:04.some great performances today and we will talk about that in a minute. We

:06:05. > :06:07.will also be joined by Toni Minichiello, the coach of Jessica

:06:08. > :06:13.Ennis-Hill is the magnificent evening under the stars last night.

:06:14. > :06:20.Just two weeks left until Rio. To talk you through the best of the

:06:21. > :06:33.action from mass night we have Steve Backley, Michael Johnson, and Steve

:06:34. > :06:39.Cram. -- last night. Jess Ennis-Hill is in Wayne 9. The first two go

:06:40. > :06:48.through automatically and the three fastest losers.

:06:49. > :06:57.Cleanly away. Rollins is leading at the moment. Tiffany Porter is going

:06:58. > :07:15.well. The winner, with a slight breeze

:07:16. > :07:22.helping. Who one, who qualified? And the time of Jessica Ennis-Hill. She

:07:23. > :07:30.is smiling. I think it is a race to be very pleased with Jessica

:07:31. > :07:36.Ennis-Hill. Looking at her time. Just ahead of Brianne Rollins.

:07:37. > :07:49.Jessica Ennis-Hill is through to the final. With all of the mess

:07:50. > :07:53.happening inside. Rollins is an amazing hurdler. When she gets it

:07:54. > :07:57.right she is flawless. She crashes into the barrier and it pulls her

:07:58. > :08:02.back and that could upset a few people in the field and Jessica

:08:03. > :08:07.Ennis-Hill keeps pushing through. She made very little mistake through

:08:08. > :08:13.there and it made her sneak through. Her second quickest time ever.

:08:14. > :08:20.12.54, her personal best was done on this track in the Olympic Games.

:08:21. > :08:41.Harrison is in lane 4. Away they go. Harrison gets a very

:08:42. > :08:43.good start. Nelson is trying to pull alongside but Harrison is already

:08:44. > :08:53.putting daylight between herself and the rest. 12.40 one.

:08:54. > :09:04.That is a new stadium record for Harrison. I feel so sad for this

:09:05. > :09:08.young lady, she has demonstrated so well all the time through this year

:09:09. > :09:13.how good she is and what qualities she has, and when the crunch came,

:09:14. > :09:18.at the championships when she only had to finish in the top three, she

:09:19. > :09:23.got very close to the barriers and then made mistakes, if you hit them,

:09:24. > :09:29.you hit them badly. Look at the contrast, easy running, 12.40, made

:09:30. > :09:45.to look very effortless indeed. That is a meeting record. A bit of a

:09:46. > :09:57.disappointing run for Cindy Ofili. Four British athletes starting here.

:09:58. > :10:02.One of whom is not competing in Rio. Strong athletes in lanes five, six

:10:03. > :10:04.and seven. Miller should be the one to chase, from the Bahamas, in lane

:10:05. > :10:24.five. Christine Ohuruogu pacing herself.

:10:25. > :10:31.It is very quick so far from Natasha Hastings with the blonde hair,

:10:32. > :10:42.there. McPherson just squeezing alongside Christine Ohuruogu at the

:10:43. > :10:45.moment. There is a long way to go, but it is Hastings and Miller

:10:46. > :10:51.side-by-side and Miller is now putting the squeeze on and striding

:10:52. > :10:57.clear of Hastings. Christine Ohuruogu is in fifth at the moment,

:10:58. > :11:04.she is trying to get there. Miller, this is an exhibition of 400 metres

:11:05. > :11:11.running. That is the quickest in the world this year. Natasha Hastings

:11:12. > :11:18.was in third, but they were a long way adrift. She takes the world

:11:19. > :11:25.leading mark from Allyson Felix. You are very welcome, what a run from

:11:26. > :11:31.Miller. She is going well in the 200 but she is focusing on the 400 for

:11:32. > :11:35.Rio, and you can see why. This is her fourth win in the Diamond

:11:36. > :11:40.League, she is learning to run well, it was almost two different races,

:11:41. > :11:45.from her lane out they went through the first 200 much quicker but she

:11:46. > :11:49.was the only one to maintain well. Look at this performance down the

:11:50. > :11:53.straight. She is moving her arms, trying to pick up her knees. She is

:11:54. > :11:58.a very good runner, Miller, and there is a massive amount of

:11:59. > :12:01.attention on her in this event. Miller is the quickest in the world

:12:02. > :12:06.this year and a long way clear of the rest. The American champion, the

:12:07. > :12:30.fastest in the world, in lane six. It's all about rhythm, all about

:12:31. > :12:35.keeping those stride patterns and not worrying about what's going on

:12:36. > :12:38.around you, they try to be competitive in the home straight.

:12:39. > :12:45.You can see how quickly Mohammed has gone off, she can't get drawn into a

:12:46. > :12:50.race with her, just stick to her own race, and she is going pretty well

:12:51. > :12:56.for the first two in metres, she may have completed that first. A lead

:12:57. > :13:03.Doyle is right there. She is hitting this right. Now it is about

:13:04. > :13:06.strength. Holding it together. Mohammed, the American champion, and

:13:07. > :13:12.need to roll to between the three of them and the crowd is trying to help

:13:13. > :13:18.the Scot who is coming on well. She just had to check, Doyle, and now

:13:19. > :13:27.coming through, but Mohammed streaks away and also Pedersen coming past.

:13:28. > :13:30.53.92, it was there, going well until the last hurdle but then she

:13:31. > :13:33.had to check and lost more momentum this time and I would suggest that

:13:34. > :13:39.that is because of what was going on ahead of her. Even though she lost

:13:40. > :13:43.momentum she came off that well. She was almost at still. Mohammed was

:13:44. > :13:50.really good on the last hurdle but she was struggling on the two before

:13:51. > :13:54.that. This young lady, the European champion, finished very strongly as

:13:55. > :14:01.well. Where we expecting too much? No, she is still quality, I hope she

:14:02. > :14:05.will get a lot from this, the difference that it makes when you

:14:06. > :14:13.check back, because when she was there, ready to attack, going into

:14:14. > :14:17.hurdle number nine, you can see that she is there or thereabouts, she is

:14:18. > :14:22.full of running, the brakes have to go on, she checks back and she is

:14:23. > :14:28.drawn back by every single person in the field, and when she goes home

:14:29. > :14:33.she will think, OK, I can get close to the 53.9 mark. A really good win

:14:34. > :14:38.for Mohammed to continue what is a very good season, it is good to see

:14:39. > :14:52.her back on form. Two seasons best for Sarah Peterson and Wenda Nel. It

:14:53. > :15:02.has taken an hour and a half but now just two men remain. The world

:15:03. > :15:07.numbers one and two. He has had a flawless cards so far. The bar is at

:15:08. > :15:16.5.90 metres. He has jumped over six metres in this stadium in the past.

:15:17. > :15:22.5.97 to take the Olympic title. His first attempt at 5.9, is a good one.

:15:23. > :15:27.He knows that that will be enough, it would seem, for victory this

:15:28. > :15:32.evening. Flawless so far this evening.

:15:33. > :15:41.Lavillenie, flawless this evening. That is what it is all about ahead

:15:42. > :15:46.of Rio. Called the Frenchman, the Flying Frenchman, indeed. That is

:15:47. > :15:55.what it means to him. He is head and shoulders above the rest of the

:15:56. > :16:01.world. He's brilliant. 5.95. An equal personal best.

:16:02. > :16:06.Katrina Johnson-Thompson has jumped 1797.

:16:07. > :16:15.The UK indoor title early last year. It is one of her best events. This

:16:16. > :16:18.and the long jump. 1795, then, Katrina

:16:19. > :16:26.Johnson-Thompson. Oh, yes! Johnson Thompson has gone clear! Wow! Well,

:16:27. > :16:30.I tell you what, ahead of Rio that is just what she would have wanted.

:16:31. > :16:39.A boost in confidence. . The strength must be good to carry

:16:40. > :16:42.on whatever else goes on. And day light. There may be more to come.

:16:43. > :16:49.Brilliant from Katrina Johnson-Thompson.

:16:50. > :16:52.And Ruth Beitia then. Playing to the crowd.

:16:53. > :16:57.For the third time. Looking focussed indeed.

:16:58. > :17:02.But after the two fouls, she has to go clear.

:17:03. > :17:08.She is seen to salvage that. That's a great clearance.

:17:09. > :17:16.Michael Johnson talked about athletes coming forward from behind.

:17:17. > :17:22.And here in this stadium in 2012 she was behind two Russians. So, Beitia

:17:23. > :17:30.of Spain, well, good luck to her ahead of Rio.

:17:31. > :17:35.A win tonight equals the season's best for the athletes. A good clear.

:17:36. > :17:42.The slightest of rattles. Absolutely brilliant. 1.98.

:17:43. > :17:50.Jessica Ennis-Hill has been given the same lane that she had in 2012.

:17:51. > :17:54.What a line up. The strength of the Americans.

:17:55. > :18:02.They really do have such strength in this event. They have had for many,

:18:03. > :18:06.many years. The stars, Castlin and all will

:18:07. > :18:18.fancy their chances of taking victory here. You know that Harrison

:18:19. > :18:22.in lane six feels she has a move. 12740 looks so comfortable here.

:18:23. > :18:42.Tiffany Porter in two. Ennis-Hill in eight. Kristi Castlin

:18:43. > :18:59.is in lane 9. Nine.

:19:00. > :19:13.12. .58. Not as wick as in the heats.

:19:14. > :19:20.Won by a huge margin, Harrison. She says one again: You'll be missing me

:19:21. > :19:26.in Rio. I am the number one. Well, the clock has been corrected.

:19:27. > :19:42.Look at the time now! It is a new world record! What?! Harrison will

:19:43. > :19:49.not be at the Olympics but she is the world recordholder. London rises

:19:50. > :19:55.to her. One of the oldest records in the book has gone and it has gone to

:19:56. > :20:00.Kendra Harrison. I was sitting next to Steve Cram, as

:20:01. > :20:05.we were watching the race I thought this is quick. No doubt about it. It

:20:06. > :20:14.looked like she dipped under the clock. And the second time was given

:20:15. > :20:17.of 12747. Right at the beginning, I did

:20:18. > :20:24.mention the quality of the field. Knowing that this young lady has the

:20:25. > :20:29.ability, we saw her cruise through the first round. 12.40. Looking easy

:20:30. > :20:34.and steady. What a race.

:20:35. > :20:39.Let's watch it. Explodes from the box. A clean first

:20:40. > :20:44.hurdle. Looks to fall off the barrier but rolls off it. Runs

:20:45. > :20:49.through aggressively. This is a world-class field. She's absolutely

:20:50. > :20:54.destroyed them. Look at the margin of victory. Worked hard all the way

:20:55. > :21:00.through. You can see with the dip, how she managed to go under.

:21:01. > :21:11.And a photo finish. There we are, a world recordholder.

:21:12. > :21:17.Tiffany Porter, incidentally, a season's best.

:21:18. > :21:27.That time defines a season. That time defines a premier.

:21:28. > :21:32.And delighted to say that Tony Minichiello, Jessica Ennis-Hill's

:21:33. > :21:38.coach has just joined us. But firstly, Michael, prays for that

:21:39. > :21:46.performance by Ke in, dra Harrison? Absolutely. A world-class field and

:21:47. > :21:51.she demolished it. So, kudos to Kenny, she did not make

:21:52. > :21:56.the US team, finishing fourth, a huge disappointment. But in Olympic

:21:57. > :22:01.careers you want world records and Olympic gold. She has the world

:22:02. > :22:08.record now. Hopefully we will see her in London next year and then at

:22:09. > :22:13.the Olympics later. She could go quicker? That is

:22:14. > :22:18.motivation. If you are not making the US team you have to do something

:22:19. > :22:24.that defines you. And breaking that record. Which, to be honest, I never

:22:25. > :22:28.thought anyone could break it. At the end she starts to float

:22:29. > :22:33.around and veers to the left. I asked her about that. What it takes,

:22:34. > :22:36.she picked that out to say that is the area.

:22:37. > :22:44.She could take that record down a little bit from the 212.20 she ran

:22:45. > :22:48.last night. But flawless execution. We noticed in her eyes before that

:22:49. > :22:56.final that she was so disappointed but that is pure joy right there.

:22:57. > :23:04.Just incredible emotion. We could not quite believe that was

:23:05. > :23:09.a race that could be won. She appeared so quick, and looked happy

:23:10. > :23:14.with that I was thinking that it looked slower as Jessica was flat.

:23:15. > :23:17.You start to do the connotations, and then suddenly, the story is not

:23:18. > :23:25.about anything else in the race. Were you able to keep your eye on

:23:26. > :23:30.Jes? I tend to. I watch the athlete I'm working with. So she was running

:23:31. > :23:36.well. She is not active enough on the floor, going into the barriers.

:23:37. > :23:43.But hurdle seven, she hits that and all credit to her she stays on her

:23:44. > :23:51.feet. She is tumbled around. You have lost momentum but she came in

:23:52. > :23:55.at 13.04. Coming back, we were hoping for a little more.

:23:56. > :24:01.But in the heat, still a fantastic performance. She set her P B in

:24:02. > :24:13.2012. Let's have another look at Jess. What were you hoping for? I

:24:14. > :24:18.was looking for 12.6 #0s. But trying to be active. To drive from the box.

:24:19. > :24:25.The second half of the race, what happens is that in six, seven,

:24:26. > :24:30.eight, the stride lengthens but with 5.5 metres, the stride is in, you

:24:31. > :24:38.are running closer to the barrier. That is hard.

:24:39. > :24:44.You must stay away from the hurdle. Once you have had a break through

:24:45. > :24:49.pregnancy with the technical elements of disciplines, how quickly

:24:50. > :25:03.did she get that back? She has done really well. And the surface here is

:25:04. > :25:10.incredible. But we have to work for at least six, seven eight months

:25:11. > :25:15.before starting on the hurdles. There is lots of abdominal work

:25:16. > :25:20.there. You don't want to damage that early on.

:25:21. > :25:25.She looked stronger than in Beijing? Totally but we could not

:25:26. > :25:29.weightlifting then for six months. We started earlier. So she is

:25:30. > :25:35.stronger than last year. Further ahead. But, to work that into the

:25:36. > :25:40.heptathlon, we will have to wait and see.

:25:41. > :25:47.She did a good javelin last week? I am pleased with that. We did that,

:25:48. > :25:57.the way that they decided in the pools. She was 46... 49! At 45.07 we

:25:58. > :26:02.were looking at it saying, we didn't know if she would be the bottom half

:26:03. > :26:07.or the top half. You want to be in the top half. That is the pool you

:26:08. > :26:17.want to be to look them in the eye and pile on the pressure. If she is

:26:18. > :26:22.45... They have to throw 50, 51. It happened a lot to Kelly soother

:26:23. > :26:27.tonne. She would drive first but then had to sit in the stand.

:26:28. > :26:33.So you are confident to get her in the top pool? Hopeful.

:26:34. > :26:37.Well, the high jump for Katrina Johnson-Thompson in the heptathlon,

:26:38. > :26:44.she will be in an elite pool of athletes. She jumped 1795.

:26:45. > :26:52.But for somebody obviously last year in Beijing, the long jump was a

:26:53. > :27:00.disaster. These are her strengths. She has

:27:01. > :27:07.jumped 1.97 indoors. So she is coming into forms. There are a lot

:27:08. > :27:12.of girls in the heptathlon. We have not even mentioned Briane,

:27:13. > :27:22.the world number one. So a compressed field. Medals can come

:27:23. > :27:27.from anybody. If you slip up... What should Jess' preparations be now?

:27:28. > :27:33.You spoke about the hurdles, and trying to get that down between now

:27:34. > :27:37.and Rio is difficult? It is stuff to work on. You never give up the

:27:38. > :27:44.ghost. The difficulty is you cannot do a lot of volume. At this point we

:27:45. > :27:51.are taking the volume off but doing less work but higher quality. Really

:27:52. > :28:02.you want to rest. You want to put your athlete in a bubble! But it is

:28:03. > :28:12.not just about Kat versus Jess. There is a huge pool of talent. Last

:28:13. > :28:19.year, Briane went in but then seemed to crumbleble in her presence. Jess

:28:20. > :28:22.was amazed how much her legacy gave her the advantage? That happened

:28:23. > :28:28.last year but will it happen a second time? I don't think so. You

:28:29. > :28:34.have to bring the A game. To be consistent in the performances. That

:28:35. > :28:40.is what you look for. It is not one or two performances but looking at

:28:41. > :28:48.being solid across the board. That is the kiss of death.

:28:49. > :28:54.But again, Jess had a hiccup in 2011 finishing in the silver medal

:28:55. > :28:58.position. That helps to reset. I am sure that Briane has gone away and

:28:59. > :29:06.with her coach, they will have put in place what they need.

:29:07. > :29:11.The long jump along with KJT and along with Proctor. It should be a

:29:12. > :29:18.good field. The girls pushing each other along? That's the hope.

:29:19. > :29:27.Jess has done well. But can she do it again? Show it is not a fluke. So

:29:28. > :29:33.some of the things we have been training, she used to jump off her

:29:34. > :29:37.right foot. Had fractures, then we switched back to the left and after

:29:38. > :29:44.London back to the right foot. So we have missed a couple of seasons with

:29:45. > :29:49.an Achilles heel and a little thing called a pregnancy! So, hopefully,

:29:50. > :29:54.we will go forward. Now I know you have coaching to do.

:29:55. > :30:00.So good luck this afternoon. We are looking back to last night. A

:30:01. > :30:08.fantastic 4x100m performance from Great Britain's women. Take a little

:30:09. > :30:14.look. Keep an eye out for Ashya Phillips.

:30:15. > :30:22.They are off. It's a good strong run from Asha

:30:23. > :30:24.Philip. A strong position.

:30:25. > :30:37.Henry at the back. Dina Asher-Smith will now run them

:30:38. > :30:41.in with a big lead. They are looking for a safe handover. It's going to

:30:42. > :31:00.be a big victory. 41.82, the time. A couple of those

:31:01. > :31:07.changeovers were very good. It all adds up to 41.81. That was

:31:08. > :31:15.outstanding. By the Great Britain A team. We have seen it on many

:31:16. > :31:20.occasions, they have all come together wonderfully well for their

:31:21. > :31:27.team. They should be really proud. World lead, that is tremendous, that

:31:28. > :31:31.has got to be one of the fastest times of all time. Fantastic

:31:32. > :31:38.performance, it was rounded down to 41.79 which is a new national record

:31:39. > :31:42.and a world lead, that bodes well going into Rio. Very impressive

:31:43. > :31:47.performance, I have never seen that kind of performance from Great

:31:48. > :31:52.Britain, young sprinters, Asha Philip 's is the youngest, she is

:31:53. > :31:56.still a baby. That bodes well going into Rio. They need to understand

:31:57. > :32:00.that they have the foot speed, they need to acknowledge that, the

:32:01. > :32:08.coaching staff have to acknowledge that, now it is about getting the

:32:09. > :32:13.baton around, they need to practice their exchanges, but what they do

:32:14. > :32:18.not practice is, what if the first attempt goes wrong, if the first

:32:19. > :32:22.attempt goes wrong, don't compound the mistake, that is what we see

:32:23. > :32:26.when the US and British team drop the baton it is because they run out

:32:27. > :32:33.of their zone. They are trying to get the second pass. Yes, then they

:32:34. > :32:38.are in unfamiliar territory because they never practice getting it

:32:39. > :32:41.wrong. You would practice mistakes? I would practice correcting it when

:32:42. > :32:45.it has happened because there is a higher probability when they are

:32:46. > :32:51.running that fast and it is not easy. That is why you see so many

:32:52. > :32:54.drops. The reason why I focus on that is specifically because what I

:32:55. > :33:00.saw on that team means that even if the other teams, the Jamaicans, the

:33:01. > :33:05.Trinidad and Tobago team, the US team, even if they get it round,

:33:06. > :33:09.finally Great Britain can still get a medal even if the other teams

:33:10. > :33:13.don't drop the baton. You don't have too hope that one of the other teams

:33:14. > :33:20.drops it so you can get a medal. I would never say that! Very

:33:21. > :33:25.impressive performance, we are talking about Rio and it bodes well

:33:26. > :33:30.for the team. It's very good to see, that was amazing last night and I'm

:33:31. > :33:35.very excited about those prospects. The men's 4x100m will kick off today

:33:36. > :33:40.in around 25 minutes. I'm not sure if they were practising the second

:33:41. > :33:45.exchange. The eyes in the back of my head are not working so well today.

:33:46. > :33:46.Let's go back to the stadium so we can review more great action from

:33:47. > :33:57.last night. Charlie Gray is going in this one.

:33:58. > :34:07.Better known as a 1500 metres man but he is trying out something new.

:34:08. > :34:19.Nigel Amos was a silver-medallist four years ago. Rotich be the man to

:34:20. > :34:34.beat here in the men's 800 metres. Just inside is Amos. He has been

:34:35. > :34:43.1.16 to 600, so let's see how quickly they go. Who can forget this

:34:44. > :34:49.race on this track four years ago. They all went to lifetime best

:34:50. > :34:54.times. A bit of a gap now. To McBride at the moment, the young

:34:55. > :34:58.Canadian, following closest. Doing the job that he has been asked to

:34:59. > :35:03.do, pacing along, but there is not much interest in that. It's not

:35:04. > :35:11.about running fast times, it's about establishing where you are. He beats

:35:12. > :35:20.David Rudisha into third place in the Kenyan trials. Charlie Grice has

:35:21. > :35:24.impressed so far, using this as a springboard for his Olympic 1500

:35:25. > :35:31.metres attack. Going well down the back straight. Charlie Grice is

:35:32. > :35:40.starting to run well. Amos is trying to lift the pace a little bit with

:35:41. > :35:45.his erratic style. Bosse is leading them out at the moment. Charlie

:35:46. > :35:52.Grice will have two Labour little bit. McBride is trying to lift the

:35:53. > :35:57.pace. Bosse is coming through further victory, surely. Does

:35:58. > :36:05.McBride still had something? He is closing but he's not going to get

:36:06. > :36:09.there. Bosse hangs on, just. Rotich came through, Amos in fourth place.

:36:10. > :36:17.Bosse was the closest to the pacemaker. He takes it on. Well

:36:18. > :36:23.timed run. He did it the hard way, the Brave way, from the front. He

:36:24. > :36:28.can run hot and cold, fifth at the European Championships, but he was

:36:29. > :36:31.in charge there. That was disappointment, a good result for

:36:32. > :36:36.Bosse the surprising result in some ways. He has the talent but often on

:36:37. > :36:40.the big occasions he does not do it but tonight he ran the perfect race.

:36:41. > :36:45.Charlie Grice coming off the track there, he looks at his time and he

:36:46. > :36:52.will be delighted. Here is Bosse down the finishing straight. Amos,

:36:53. > :37:03.the Olympic silver-medallist, and Rotich mother man we are looking to

:37:04. > :37:12.do well in Rio. Bosse goes well. What a perfect time to run for

:37:13. > :37:15.Charlie. -- another man. It rather gives a false impression about

:37:16. > :37:29.Charlie Grice. He is not on the first page. Rotich mother Diamond

:37:30. > :37:41.League leader, only in third. Charlie Grice is a miler. The

:37:42. > :37:54.silver-medallist from London in 2012, Manzano. Good representation

:37:55. > :37:59.for Great Britain. Thomas Lancashire and Jake Wightman, they are not

:38:00. > :38:05.going to Rio. It will be the Kenyans to watch out for again. Kiplagat,

:38:06. > :38:17.former Commonwealth Games champion. As the pacemaker steps aside, on the

:38:18. > :38:21.shoulder of Chariot. In a good position now. He will be

:38:22. > :38:29.disappointed not to make the Olympic team. Emanuel is running well. He

:38:30. > :38:35.has been impressive so far. Thomas Lancashire stretches his feet at the

:38:36. > :38:43.back. This is an impressive run from Whiteman. Silas Kiplagat, trying to

:38:44. > :38:51.hold off the youngster, Timothy chariot. He just missed out on

:38:52. > :38:56.Olympic selection, trying to take on the Kenyans. It is a real scrap.

:38:57. > :39:04.Kiplagat is there, on the outside, just finds a little bit extra. Can

:39:05. > :39:14.he make it to the line? The fast finishing Swede in fifth place. That

:39:15. > :39:19.was a great race at the front. Silas Kiplagat, his best race of the year,

:39:20. > :39:24.not a good season at all, Kiplagat. But he is returning to good form on

:39:25. > :39:29.the big stage here. On his day he is one of the best Kenya have ever had

:39:30. > :39:32.and he will be delighted to have found some form. A little bit late

:39:33. > :39:38.for him in terms of Rio but a good win for him. Great run by Jake

:39:39. > :39:45.Wightman in fourth place. Sprinting down the finishing straight. Their

:39:46. > :39:51.Jake Wightman judges this race perfectly. And a personal best

:39:52. > :39:56.coming into this race of 3.50 seven. And he has come out with a real

:39:57. > :40:07.bonus. Silas Kiplagat signs the famous book. INAUDIBLE

:40:08. > :40:16.The first Kenyan to win this one. Being presented with the trophy. It

:40:17. > :40:25.is a famous race. I think that was a great performance by Kiplagat. Good

:40:26. > :40:34.British representation. Dropping down to 1500 here. Laura Weightman

:40:35. > :40:39.will join Laura Muir at the Olympic Games. That is the pacemaker, Chanel

:40:40. > :40:45.price. She will be asked to set a good pace for Laura Muir. We hope

:40:46. > :40:50.that she can go to Rio and really content, as they come round with two

:40:51. > :40:57.laps to go, following Chanel price. Reasonably quick pace here. Moving

:40:58. > :41:01.quickly to close the gap, obviously she recognises the danger. Laura

:41:02. > :41:04.Muir was fifth in the World Championships last year. She has

:41:05. > :41:10.done this before, and carried it through. She has the capabilities to

:41:11. > :41:16.do that and recognise that and move up to close the gap. Weightman is a

:41:17. > :41:25.few places back and she is working to close the gap. Laura Muir is

:41:26. > :41:31.leading. Then the diminutive Kenyan and Laura Weightman in fourth. Costa

:41:32. > :41:36.moving up. Laura is now putting her foot down a bit and trying to move

:41:37. > :41:40.away. Hassan going with her. The world indoor champion. She has been

:41:41. > :41:47.struggling with these injuries but she is now getting back to her best

:41:48. > :41:51.and they are now well clear. Laura Muir is attacking this from the

:41:52. > :41:55.front and the crowd are trying to lift her, they are a good ten metres

:41:56. > :42:03.clear off the field at the bell. Going really well in this race. She

:42:04. > :42:09.has raised the 800 metres in Padua, close to her personal best. She

:42:10. > :42:12.knows who it is on her shoulder but she knows that she is in decent

:42:13. > :42:18.shape this year. She will be looking to hold on. This really is

:42:19. > :42:21.aggressive running from Laura Muir. Down the back straight, she has

:42:22. > :42:28.opened up, look at the great she is showing here. She is fighting to

:42:29. > :42:34.pull away from Hassan and she is managing to do that. A stunning run

:42:35. > :42:40.so far, she gives up, she is well clear in second. Laura Muir, coming

:42:41. > :42:43.down the home straight, and this is a massive performance from her, she

:42:44. > :42:49.is heading for a very quick time here. Laura Muir will be clock

:42:50. > :42:54.watching all the way down here, she has got this won, that's for sure.

:42:55. > :43:04.She has a long way ahead, it's a massive performance. 3:57.51, that

:43:05. > :43:16.is a new British record, I think, if it gets confirmed. Kelly Haimona 's

:43:17. > :43:22.has been obliterated by Laura Muir of Scotland and Great Britain, the

:43:23. > :43:30.23-year-old was so strong on that last lap. Yes, it's a meeting

:43:31. > :43:33.record. But have you ever seen, Paula, the strength, coupled with

:43:34. > :43:41.the speed obviously, but she was aggressive from the start, and what

:43:42. > :43:48.a reward for her. It's official now, I knew British record for Laura

:43:49. > :43:51.Muir. Absolutely brilliant. That was a really scintillating run, and it's

:43:52. > :43:55.so good to see you there getting the enjoyment from that as well because

:43:56. > :44:00.she really worked hard. Sophie said at the beginning of the programme

:44:01. > :44:04.what a talent she is, and the capabilities she has to take the

:44:05. > :44:11.step up to be a medallist at the Olympics and she has underlined that

:44:12. > :44:16.here tonight. This will be something she will remember for the rest of

:44:17. > :44:27.her life. Meeting record, but more importantly the British record. A

:44:28. > :44:33.host of seasons bests behind her. The Swede has just pipped Laura

:44:34. > :44:38.Weightman for third spot. It's an amazing stadium, Christian Taylor,

:44:39. > :44:42.victorious here four years ago in the triple jump, and he has been a

:44:43. > :44:47.class apart through this competition. We are in the last

:44:48. > :44:51.round. Two valid jumps would have won anyway. He has won the

:44:52. > :44:55.competition, and it's a big one. Well, I've thought we were going to

:44:56. > :45:03.have to send for something relatively mediocre, given the dizzy

:45:04. > :45:06.heights of success we have seen as Taylor came with an eight

:45:07. > :45:12.centimetres of the Jonathan Edwards world record. En route to taking the

:45:13. > :45:16.world title last summer. Taylor stamped his authority on this event

:45:17. > :45:22.in the last competition prior to Rio. It's very close to 18 metres.

:45:23. > :45:26.That looks almost perfect on the board. Slight glitch in his season

:45:27. > :45:27.so far is that he was beaten in the American trials by his team-mate

:45:28. > :45:42.will Clay. Look at that, 17.78, undoubtedly the

:45:43. > :45:47.favourite. A world lead. The fast men have a lot to life up to. This

:45:48. > :45:58.is the line up for the final of the men's 200m.

:45:59. > :46:10.Cleanly away. Vicaut trying to get back onside. It

:46:11. > :46:18.is Vicaut. And it is Vicaut just ahead of Young. 10. .03. He takes

:46:19. > :46:26.the victory. An extraordinary achievement.

:46:27. > :46:34.The men's 100m, being one in 10. .03. Vicaut heads to Rio as a

:46:35. > :46:37.contender. But a few of the sprinters slightly disappointed that

:46:38. > :46:41.they could not deliver quicker times.

:46:42. > :46:48.That looked like hard work. He had to hall himself through the field to

:46:49. > :46:53.get to the line in only 10. .03. But the victory is key. Let's have a

:46:54. > :47:00.look at the race to see how it pans out. Jimmy Vicaut gets up quite

:47:01. > :47:05.well. But never an athlete to drive out of the block. He gets into the

:47:06. > :47:11.running quickly. There is where he loses the ground then gains it as he

:47:12. > :47:15.halls himself through. I think all of them will be a bit disappointed

:47:16. > :47:21.as they read the performances on the clock.

:47:22. > :47:37.Vicaut, I'm sure he will be a contender for the final in Rio.

:47:38. > :47:57.Vadlejch, the javelin thrower struggling somewhat.

:47:58. > :48:10.86.76. The best throw for him this year.

:48:11. > :48:20.He looks as though he has it right here in the second round. 85.72.

:48:21. > :48:26.Usain Bolt has to do something that some athletes don't have do, he has

:48:27. > :48:32.to take the media in his stride. He does it well, of course.

:48:33. > :48:39.He is in lane six. Gemili is in eight.

:48:40. > :48:46.And then there is this man. To see somebody who could get a surprise,

:48:47. > :48:50.when he was told he had won the gold medal at the European championships

:48:51. > :49:00.after a disqualification. There is Gemili.

:49:01. > :49:07.He was going to run the 100 heats today. Let's see how he goes. Edward

:49:08. > :49:19.getting back into good form in the Diamond League in Monaco. Here we

:49:20. > :49:25.go, through... A hero for so many. There is a big crowd here at the

:49:26. > :49:33.Olympic Stadium hoping he can give them something to cheer. And what

:49:34. > :49:43.about this man, Rodney. The Canadian champion this year.

:49:44. > :49:53.Very talented. And Lemaitre. He has been doing better this year

:49:54. > :49:58.with a season's best. Ashmeade, he is the man in the

:49:59. > :50:01.relay. And Talbot because of

:50:02. > :50:08.disqualification in the championships, he moves up.

:50:09. > :50:16.He moved up to third to get the Bronze Medal. Then on the inside the

:50:17. > :50:20.24-year-old American, McClean with a new personal best this year. So the

:50:21. > :50:26.scene is set. A familiar one for Usain Bolt. A one which has given

:50:27. > :50:31.him, of course, so many memories, I'm sure he still has of 2012. So

:50:32. > :50:38.how much has happened since then but that will never ever be takenway

:50:39. > :50:44.from him. Starting quickly.

:50:45. > :51:04.Usain Bolt leads. Usain Bolt wins it.

:51:05. > :51:09.A within for Usain Bolt. He's back in business.

:51:10. > :51:14.It wasn't superfast but good enough tonight to beat a pretty good field

:51:15. > :51:20.and certainly good enough to please a very big crowd. And for Usain Bolt

:51:21. > :51:39.the confidence booster that sends a little bit of a message to say

:51:40. > :51:43."19.89, OK but still fast." He will undoubtedly get quicker by

:51:44. > :51:49.the time he gets to Rio. He doesn't look too happy. But I'm sure he is

:51:50. > :51:53.happy to get that under his belt with a win and a solid time.

:51:54. > :51:56.Happy in the sense that the race is out of the way. Out of his system.

:51:57. > :52:07.The first time, a strong performance.

:52:08. > :52:13.And to go under 20 seconds is great, to go under 19.90. That is good.

:52:14. > :52:21.An incredible finish to a magnificent evening under the stars

:52:22. > :52:24.at the Olympic Stadium. Here is Paula Radcliffe, nodding away,

:52:25. > :52:29.welcome, Paula. This is like the weather in the South of France? It

:52:30. > :52:35.is. The guys could have come from the training camp there. It is what

:52:36. > :52:39.they have been training in. Possibly a little hotter but perfect

:52:40. > :52:47.preparation for Rio. This is the temperatures that we are looking at.

:52:48. > :52:51.We have been speaking about the world record for the hurdles but

:52:52. > :52:56.also time to talk about Laura Muir. Another record that stood for a long

:52:57. > :53:04.time. A gutsy run. You must have been impressed? . It was. The race

:53:05. > :53:17.was paced very well. The first 400, she ran close to 64 seconds, and

:53:18. > :53:23.then 2. .08... We see her slotting in from behind the pacemake. You

:53:24. > :53:30.knee she meant business. And at 1500m is when the third lap drops

:53:31. > :53:34.off. But she put her food to the floor and accelerated.

:53:35. > :53:38.The second to last was the quickest one, where Zeb did the Danning to

:53:39. > :53:51.Hassan. She would have known she was the big danger in the race.

:53:52. > :53:55.-- world recordholder I I have seen her training in the last couple of

:53:56. > :54:03.weeks, showing how much she is moving. How much stronger she is.

:54:04. > :54:08.That is good too mentally. She is showing she is in good shape.

:54:09. > :54:12.Driving there. Knowing she had the capabilities of getting the record.

:54:13. > :54:18.It is the first thing she checked for. Looking across to see if she

:54:19. > :54:24.got the time. You can see she worked hard for that. And that is a tough

:54:25. > :54:30.one to beat. If you beat that, you are underlining that you are a huge

:54:31. > :54:36.medal prospect going to Rio. We spoke about why people are here,

:54:37. > :54:40.what are they using it for? Is it something to prove fitness,

:54:41. > :54:45.confidence? But that is the kind of competition, that is sheing she is

:54:46. > :54:52.here it get herself on the Rio podium? For many athletes like

:54:53. > :54:56.Laura, it is an opportunity to go to Rio with a tremendous amount of

:54:57. > :55:00.confidence. Able to produce the second best time in the world this

:55:01. > :55:04.year. So it bodes well for her confidence and prospects of a medal

:55:05. > :55:10.going to Rio. We are next to the long jump inside

:55:11. > :55:16.here. Dangerously so! If I step further back, I will be in there!

:55:17. > :55:21.The girls are working on the run-ups, working on the strides.

:55:22. > :55:28.Jess very much has her game face on. We will see her competing soon

:55:29. > :55:35.alongside Katrina Johnson-Thompson and of course Shara Proctor as well.

:55:36. > :55:47.Firstly, it was nice to see Kelly Holmes tweeting last night. To get

:55:48. > :55:55.that record Kelly Holmes had to race at the Olympics at the same time?

:55:56. > :56:00.That is important. It is. I'm sure are she is proud to see Laura

:56:01. > :56:07.getting in there. And hopefully she will get a medal. Yesterday we

:56:08. > :56:13.started to talk about just Rutherford, Mo and Doug and all of

:56:14. > :56:22.those people. But Great Britain we need more to come up.

:56:23. > :56:25.FORCEDYELLOW heaven I think that Laura and Katrina Johnson-Thompson,

:56:26. > :56:29.they want to establish themselves. They have learned a lot from the

:56:30. > :56:33.World Championships last year. We will not see the same Katrina

:56:34. > :56:36.Johnson-Thompson as last year. I think we will see a new Katrina

:56:37. > :56:42.Johnson-Thompson with more confidence. That is where you make

:56:43. > :56:47.the mistakes, in the World Championship, not the Olympics.

:56:48. > :56:52.Saving the best stuff for the Olympics Games. Well, a man not so

:56:53. > :56:57.short of confidence is Usain Bolt. It was his first 200m here in the

:56:58. > :57:02.stadium last night. His season has not gone always to plan. A few

:57:03. > :57:07.problems with his body. But overall he seems to have come through it

:57:08. > :57:12.unscathed? I think he was very happy with last night's race in context.

:57:13. > :57:18.This is the part of the race that he knows he has to work on a little

:57:19. > :57:22.more. But the thing is, as far as his race is concerned, he basically

:57:23. > :57:26.had one injury this year. Compare that to last year. Last year was a

:57:27. > :57:33.really difficult year for him. This year is a better year for him. Only

:57:34. > :57:39.one injury. Slight. That was mostly taking precaution. So healthwise he

:57:40. > :57:45.is going to Rio in a good position. Last night's 200 proved to him he is

:57:46. > :57:51.healthy. He can use the rounds in order to get himself right and to

:57:52. > :57:55.get himself ready to go ahead and defend his Olympic titles and win

:57:56. > :58:00.this thing for an unprecedented third time as 100 and 200 metre

:58:01. > :58:06.Olympic champion. He did say to him when we spoke at

:58:07. > :58:09.length that he knows he needs more races but he does not have the

:58:10. > :58:14.opportunity or the luxury. Tell us what he can do in training to test

:58:15. > :58:18.himself? Is it literally going against the clock with a training

:58:19. > :58:23.partner is it that crude? Yes, you think about it, last year at this

:58:24. > :58:29.time he did not have the race he had last night. It had been over a month

:58:30. > :58:36.before he had a race. He still went there with the best of times, to

:58:37. > :58:42.beat Justin Gatlin, who was at his best. So, Usain Bolt, you say he

:58:43. > :58:50.doesn't need the races but he needs to use the rounds. He has the

:58:51. > :58:58.technical aspects. He must use the speed. Now he can go on in training.

:58:59. > :59:04.It is two weeks, a lot of time for Usain Bolt to work on the technical,

:59:05. > :59:08.the speed endurance to hold the speed he has. So he is in a great

:59:09. > :59:12.position, a much better position than last year.

:59:13. > :59:19.Thank you, Michael. Lots of stars in action last night. Usain Bolt

:59:20. > :59:21.arguable one of the biggest of the lot but there is much more coming

:59:22. > :59:36.your way today. That is fantastic. It's going to be

:59:37. > :59:43.Dafne Schippers. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce holds on once again for

:59:44. > :59:50.the world title. That is a brilliant race. My goodness. Dina Asher-Smith

:59:51. > :00:04.is looking fantastic here. It's enormous! It's a huge jump. Starring

:00:05. > :00:15.jump from Proctor. That was a fantastic run from him. Sharp is

:00:16. > :00:20.going to win. That is fabulous run from Lagat. Mo Farah is going to

:00:21. > :00:32.make it two gold medals for Great Britain. Beautiful! So, in a few

:00:33. > :00:36.moments time Rio heptathlon rivals Jessica Ennis-Hill and Johnson

:00:37. > :00:40.Thomson will take each other on. It is also featuring Shara Proctor.

:00:41. > :00:48.Then it is the 4x100m relay for the men. Then the heats for the 110

:00:49. > :00:56.metres hurdles. Andrew Pozzi will be among those looking for a clean run

:00:57. > :01:03.for Great Britain. Holly Bradshaw and company will have their sights

:01:04. > :01:09.set at 2:50pm for the men's two metres. The women's discus gets

:01:10. > :01:18.underway shortly after that. Michael Tinsley lining up. Olympic champion

:01:19. > :01:29.Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is among a quality line-up for the women's

:01:30. > :01:36.100m. The last hour of action kicks off at 4pm with the men's shot put.

:01:37. > :01:38.Then it is a competitive looking women's 800 metres. The flying

:01:39. > :01:45.Dutchwoman Dafne Schippers is the one to beat in a field that includes

:01:46. > :01:52.five Americans will stop then the quick women continue in the final of

:01:53. > :01:56.the 100 before the Mo Farah show, taking on a competitive field in the

:01:57. > :02:01.5000 metres, his first competitive 5000 metres this year. He was out a

:02:02. > :02:07.moment ago being introduced to the crowd, taking a lot of photos and

:02:08. > :02:10.selfies and lapping it up. Still wearing a long-sleeved top which I'm

:02:11. > :02:14.slightly worried about, he's not able to regulate his body

:02:15. > :02:20.temperature like the rest of us! That is just Mo, just trying to stay

:02:21. > :02:24.warm, he is looking forward to these conditions but he's just chilling

:02:25. > :02:28.out, he still has while before he needs to warm up. He has talked

:02:29. > :02:32.about how special it is to get the chance to come out here and race,

:02:33. > :02:40.and this is important because it's his first five K. For him we are

:02:41. > :02:44.talking about what this whole event means and it means different things

:02:45. > :02:49.to different people but he will take his time here seriously. Absolutely,

:02:50. > :02:55.this is a serious test, he hasn't really backed off in training coming

:02:56. > :02:59.into this, he is focusing on being 100% for Rio. It's important for him

:03:00. > :03:06.to come out here and lay down a marker. A warning to the others, he

:03:07. > :03:09.was beaten in Monaco in the 1500 metres, but so what? He is in a good

:03:10. > :03:14.place mentally and he's looking forward to getting out there and

:03:15. > :03:18.racing. It's incredible that he has won double gold medals twice since

:03:19. > :03:24.the London Olympics. An incredible four years for Mo Farah. We will see

:03:25. > :03:28.him at the end of proceedings today but kicking us off is the 4x100m

:03:29. > :03:32.relay for the man, can the British men live up to the women who laid

:03:33. > :03:37.down the gauntlet with a national record and a world lead. Steve Cram,

:03:38. > :03:42.over to you. Good afternoon everyone, beautiful day in the

:03:43. > :03:46.Olympic Stadium, and yes, it would be something if the British man

:03:47. > :03:53.could get anywhere near to the British record. The women, one of

:03:54. > :03:57.the stars collectively last night, and I think it has added a bit of a

:03:58. > :04:03.crowd that has turned up today, still people coming into enjoyed the

:04:04. > :04:06.IPC event earlier and now looking forward to a fantastic afternoon as

:04:07. > :04:12.Mo Farah is leaving the track and of course he will be in the last event,

:04:13. > :04:16.the 5000 metres. As Gaby said we begin with this intriguing relay.

:04:17. > :04:22.And of course this is an event, the women's relay and the men's, 4x100m

:04:23. > :04:27.and 4x400m where we are looking for medal chances, and places in the

:04:28. > :04:37.team. Very much up for grabs, because the team is not yet set. The

:04:38. > :04:40.A team today is Adam Gemili, who ran well in the two would metres last

:04:41. > :04:46.night, he goes down the back straight. James Ellington will be on

:04:47. > :04:51.the top bend and CJ will bring it home. A bit of a change of lanes as

:04:52. > :04:57.Great Britain have moved out to lane seven because the French have

:04:58. > :05:08.scratched Jimmy Vico. A bit of a twinge after last night. There is no

:05:09. > :05:18.Usain Bolt in the Jamaican team, but it is still a pretty strong team.

:05:19. > :05:27.The one interesting fact that may well be on the first leg, they will

:05:28. > :05:30.be pretty strong, Brazil. Then we will see a strong Canadian team. We

:05:31. > :05:43.will go through them now. They have two big sprinters, Rodney

:05:44. > :05:47.who won the two metres championships. This is where the

:05:48. > :05:53.intrigue is, Richard Kilty, he would love to run the first leg in Rio, of

:05:54. > :06:01.course. He has been given the nod here today, but what if Kielty were

:06:02. > :06:15.to built their solo -- were to beat his rival, he has been given this

:06:16. > :06:21.job of leading off. The all-stars team is led off by Kim Collins.

:06:22. > :06:26.There is Dasaolu mad bit disappointing yesterday. Really good

:06:27. > :06:35.conditions. We saw so many great performances. Not in the men's

:06:36. > :06:38.hundred metres, it has to be said. The Jamaican team led by Everton

:06:39. > :06:51.Clarke and then Michael Freitag, hugely experienced. A bit unusual

:06:52. > :06:54.for him to be in that position. He will be in the long jump later

:06:55. > :06:59.today. The Netherlands on the outside. He competed in front of his

:07:00. > :07:06.home crowd in Amsterdam at the European Championships. There is no

:07:07. > :07:14.Martina in their team. There is game early. I know that he was a little

:07:15. > :07:19.disappointed. -- Adam Gemili. He was suffering from a bit of a cold this

:07:20. > :07:23.week and did not run in the 100m, chose to do just the 200 metres

:07:24. > :07:32.which was not bad at all and now he will take it from Dasaolu on the

:07:33. > :07:39.back straight. Kielty is on the first leg for the B team.

:07:40. > :07:50.Safely away. Dasaolu is moving well. Kielty has taken a couple of metres

:07:51. > :07:58.out of Kim Collins. It's a good change, solid from the B team. Great

:07:59. > :08:03.Britain A in the lead at the moment. That's another solid changeover. The

:08:04. > :08:12.B team are going well. It is Great Britain one and two here. Chijindu

:08:13. > :08:19.Ujah gets away. He gets it safely. The youngster chasing down Chijindu

:08:20. > :08:25.Ujah. It is Britain one and two, who will win it? It's the A team. That

:08:26. > :08:30.is fast. I said that they weren't break the British record but they

:08:31. > :08:36.nearly did. And the B team has run one of the quickest times. Five

:08:37. > :08:42.hundredths of a second off the British record. I think one or two

:08:43. > :08:48.changes that could be better, it was solid. But as the women yesterday,

:08:49. > :08:56.particularly the last change with Dina Asher-Smith and Daryl, perhaps

:08:57. > :09:01.that change was a bit safer, pressure from the B team but

:09:02. > :09:07.fabulous runs by both quartets, all posting a British record. Talked us

:09:08. > :09:13.through this. What was significant was that they are already cup races

:09:14. > :09:16.at Rio. When we talk about making sure the baton saran safely, they

:09:17. > :09:23.both know what is necessary here. For me, what is so necessary is they

:09:24. > :09:32.have delivered fast times under pressure. -- gets around safely.

:09:33. > :09:37.They have destroyed the field. As you said, spot-on, a few changes

:09:38. > :09:42.there that could have been stretched and they were a bit safe, but I

:09:43. > :09:47.would rather they were safe and put themselves in good contention for a

:09:48. > :09:51.very strong medal at the Rio Olympic Games. What I love about it again is

:09:52. > :09:58.that we have real choices, that's going to be important. I'm just

:09:59. > :10:02.wondering whether CJ was a little tired, it almost looked as though he

:10:03. > :10:06.was being chased down by the youngster who was running very well

:10:07. > :10:15.but he tightens up a little bit. The record was there for the taking, but

:10:16. > :10:20.nonetheless, great performances. 37.78, world lead, and the B team,

:10:21. > :10:28.we can't take two teams but my goodness if we cut they would not do

:10:29. > :10:32.bad. -- if we could. Five hundredths of a second off the British record

:10:33. > :10:36.but the B team pushed you close button blue great strength from both

:10:37. > :10:41.teams, running the quickest time for five or six years and put together

:10:42. > :10:45.two teams that did it. Strong performance from everyone. The

:10:46. > :10:51.exchanges looked fairly solid. Yes, we are pushing it a bit further.

:10:52. > :10:55.Than we did at the Europeans. Still a lot to play with, the depth we

:10:56. > :11:02.have got is amazing. The battle for places will hot up and there is

:11:03. > :11:05.still room for improvement from this quartet? We are still a bit tired

:11:06. > :11:11.from yesterday because James was in the 100. You must have enjoyed that,

:11:12. > :11:17.decent run in the 200, 20 .07, followed it up by being just outside

:11:18. > :11:21.the British record? Yes, we were pushing for it but we are glad to

:11:22. > :11:24.get the world lead and what better place to do it than in front of the

:11:25. > :11:30.home crowd, amazing atmosphere. Brilliant. Good stuff, guys.

:11:31. > :11:39.Well, there you have it, 37.78, a new world lead. Five hundredths off

:11:40. > :11:55.the British record which goes back to Seville in 1999. Canada will be

:11:56. > :12:00.quicker come rear. -- come Rio. Impressive performances from two

:12:01. > :12:07.Great Britain quartets there, running them close, the B team. Just

:12:08. > :12:11.off the British record. A meeting record and a world lead but I'm sure

:12:12. > :12:16.you will say there is room for improvement. Absolutely. Which is a

:12:17. > :12:23.good thing. It will have to improve when you get the Jamaican 18. When

:12:24. > :12:27.you get the USA in there. -- the Jamaican A team. And Canada with

:12:28. > :12:30.their best team. There will be really tough competition when it

:12:31. > :12:36.comes to Rio, but you have to take the things that you can do here with

:12:37. > :12:42.a world leading time, five hundredths of the British record.

:12:43. > :12:45.That will give them confidence to take to Rio but also recognise the

:12:46. > :12:52.opportunity that is now right there, very close and within grasp and make

:12:53. > :12:56.sure you don't squander that in Rio. Four out of the last five times they

:12:57. > :13:00.have not had the baton in their hand, so that will be a huge relief

:13:01. > :13:03.to date because they know they have the foot speed and of course there

:13:04. > :13:08.was a terrible performance at the Olympics four years ago. They have

:13:09. > :13:13.really had to iron out a lot of stuff, a lot of money and time has

:13:14. > :13:17.been spent on them. Let's take a closer look and can you say where

:13:18. > :13:21.the exchanges could be smoother? Firstly, this team when it comes to

:13:22. > :13:30.foot speed, they will be able to match Jamaica and Canada and the USA

:13:31. > :13:33.so their exchanges will have to be spot-on but you also have to make

:13:34. > :13:38.sure you don't drop it. That was fairly safe but I would keep it

:13:39. > :13:43.there, don't try to stretch that too much. This is another safe handover.

:13:44. > :13:50.You can see that he gets very close to the outgoing runner. This was the

:13:51. > :13:54.worst one coming up. It is not that great. He ran out on the other

:13:55. > :13:58.runner but it is safe if you want to do that, and now they can take time

:13:59. > :14:01.over the next couple of weeks to work on getting very good and

:14:02. > :14:06.aggressive but safe and quick changeovers. Also at the same time

:14:07. > :14:10.you want to work on contingencies because the odds are something will

:14:11. > :14:14.happen especially when you are under pressure. When you are out in front

:14:15. > :14:19.you are not under as much pressure when you have Jamaica and the

:14:20. > :14:23.incoming runners, six foot five looming figure of Usain Bolt is

:14:24. > :14:28.about to take the baton and you think, I want to get it to my guy

:14:29. > :14:32.quicker so he has an advantage, all of that adrenaline and thinking

:14:33. > :14:36.that's going on, trying to get to your man to hand over at the same

:14:37. > :14:42.time, that is very stressful. You have to have a contingency plan, if

:14:43. > :14:46.it does not go right, what do we do? There has to be good communication

:14:47. > :14:47.and assign responsibility to the outgoing runner to make sure that he

:14:48. > :15:06.knows what to something happens. Those are

:15:07. > :15:08.the things they will need to work on over the coming weeks to take

:15:09. > :15:10.advantage of this opportunity, get it around and hopefully be in

:15:11. > :15:13.proposition. Thank you, we will head down to the track because the men

:15:14. > :15:16.are lining up for the first heat of the hurdles. The world record holder

:15:17. > :15:18.is not going to Rio because he did not finish in the top three at the

:15:19. > :15:28.US trials. There is the line up for the first

:15:29. > :15:33.of two heats in the money's 110 hurdles.

:15:34. > :15:44.Aries Merritt just missed out on US selection for Rio.

:15:45. > :15:50.He is in lane five. Simone Krauss.

:15:51. > :15:55.Great hurdling talent that France has.

:15:56. > :16:17.And King. Ranker. 37th in Madrid last month.

:16:18. > :16:27.Merritt, he will not be in Rio but still such a great talent.

:16:28. > :16:30.Andrew Pozzi with a hamstring injury just before the championships, he

:16:31. > :16:34.has had great running times this year.

:16:35. > :16:39.Manga, another of the French talents in this event.

:16:40. > :16:46.Not selected for Rio. Omoregie, he has just won a life

:16:47. > :16:54.time best, 13.25. But a bit too late for his Rio selection.

:16:55. > :16:58.And Sedecias, just 21. 13.45 this season, fourth at the French

:16:59. > :17:06.championships. Talking about athletes missing out

:17:07. > :17:18.on the Olympics, of course, Sergei Shevenkov.

:17:19. > :17:22.It's the first three to go through automatically and the three fastest

:17:23. > :17:34.losers over the two heats. The final is just before 4.00pm.

:17:35. > :17:45.This first heat of the men's 110 hurdles.

:17:46. > :17:57.Merritt left it little early. Pozzi... It's Andrew Pozzi! Into the

:17:58. > :18:01.slightest of winds, Andrew Pozzi. He breaks his personal best by a soth

:18:02. > :18:07.of a second. 13.19. He is getting better, he's

:18:08. > :18:11.getting quicker, he is looking forward to Rio. A good run from

:18:12. > :18:15.Andrew Pozzi. He will be pleased with that. His

:18:16. > :18:21.coach has put in a lot of work developing in training to see what

:18:22. > :18:27.he can do. He is so talented. For me, this is a really good run.

:18:28. > :18:31.13.19. Getting himself through to the final. He needs to calm down to

:18:32. > :18:37.produce that again later on. Let's have a look at him out of the

:18:38. > :18:43.blocks. No hesitation. Out sharp! Keeping across all of these guys.

:18:44. > :18:49.He is not close to the bar. But then he catches it. He checks back a

:18:50. > :18:53.little. Gains control and works on the final barrier. Drives into the

:18:54. > :18:59.line. He knows he is running quickly. A good start by Pozzi.

:19:00. > :19:06.And Omoregie coming through. Keep an eye on him in lane eight.

:19:07. > :19:12.Pozzi moving so fluidly. He has a problem in the middle of

:19:13. > :19:17.the race. At this stage he is really at speed. And he has not had the

:19:18. > :19:22.opportunity to train with top speed, that is why he sometimes makes a

:19:23. > :19:29.mistake. Today he was nearly flawless. I know he will look at it,

:19:30. > :19:37.scrutinise and get it even closer to that 13-second mark.

:19:38. > :19:45.Andrew Pozzi moves above Andy Talbot.

:19:46. > :19:54.A good line-up. Pozzi goes through, as does David Omoregie. And Manga

:19:55. > :19:58.also a qualifier. Trapper and David king in fourth and

:19:59. > :20:05.fifth places. It would not be An veriary Games

:20:06. > :20:13.without the leading lady, Jessica Ennis-Hill. The first round of the

:20:14. > :20:20.long jump. -- Anniversary Games.

:20:21. > :20:24.Of course, to put it together here, a healthy heptathlon. A life time

:20:25. > :20:29.best in this event. Looking to back it up today. I spoke to the coach to

:20:30. > :20:36.see if there is space on the board. It would be good to see. Look at

:20:37. > :20:40.that 19 centimetres to add as a potential business tans to add to

:20:41. > :20:45.whatever this measures at. That is a good, safe jump. It is what she will

:20:46. > :20:50.have wanted to do. She had two rounds yesterday. So a little bit of

:20:51. > :20:55.tiredness in the legs. There is the coach, Tony Minichiello. He says he

:20:56. > :21:01.is the boss but I'm not sure, what do you think? So Jess is waiting.

:21:02. > :21:08.6.18. A decent start with the slight distance be lined the board. A

:21:09. > :21:14.strong domestic field here. Katrina Johnson-Thompson... Something to

:21:15. > :21:21.really look forward to in Rio FORCEDYELLOW heaven. Today it is

:21:22. > :21:29.just the long jump. Johnson-Thompson... Oh, yes! It's

:21:30. > :21:35.bigger Khan Jess' jump, it would seem. This is a strong event for

:21:36. > :21:44.Katrina Johnson-Thompson. She hastown 6.92 indoors last year.

:21:45. > :21:48.That may challenge. I tell you what, Katrina Johnson-Thompson, also with

:21:49. > :21:58.space to spare. 13 centimetres, to be spree sips.

:21:59. > :22:11.-- precise. Her coach there. A season's best.

:22:12. > :22:16.A great first round here, 6.63. Here is the world's

:22:17. > :22:23.silver-medallist. Shara Proctor. What can she do in the first round?

:22:24. > :22:31.Oh, that was flat. No height off of that it looks as if

:22:32. > :22:38.he is in one piece, that is the main thing ahead of Rio. Number one rule,

:22:39. > :22:41.don't get hurt. Overstriding is the culprit there.

:22:42. > :22:45.Addles of space. Another safe jump.

:22:46. > :22:52.I tell you what, that is a big statement from Proctor.

:22:53. > :22:57.I tell you what, it's a decent jump. It's 6.57 for Proctor at that

:22:58. > :23:09.distance behind the board. What an opening round. Five jumps remaining.

:23:10. > :23:13.The Brits out in front. Well, that long jump right in front of the

:23:14. > :23:20.crowd, in the home straight. A great view. And as Steve was saying, what

:23:21. > :23:27.a great round. This is the first round, the heats of the 110 hurdles.

:23:28. > :23:31.We have seen Andrew Pozzi with the brilliant 13.19. There is the top

:23:32. > :23:42.line there. Koen Smet. The top three go through

:23:43. > :23:48.and the three fastest losers. So let's go through them. Smet from

:23:49. > :24:01.the Netherlands. Only ran 13.71 this year.

:24:02. > :24:13.Buchler Buhler of Germany. Easton. A personal best this year of

:24:14. > :24:20.13.25. The European champion from Amsterdam a couple of weeks ago,

:24:21. > :24:25.just beat no-one the Monaco Diamond League, 13.12, Bascou of France.

:24:26. > :24:31.There is Lawrence Clarke. So many memories from the Olympic Games in

:24:32. > :24:42.2012. He just missed a medal. Fourth lace then. Douvalidis of Greece.

:24:43. > :24:48.Very experienced. 13.38 this year. Very well matched this field.

:24:49. > :24:55.There is Eddie Lovett. Again, 13.39 from the US Virgin

:24:56. > :25:07.islands. Then Vukicevic from Norway from the outside in lane.nine.

:25:08. > :25:12.So So, Lawrence Clarke consistent without hitting the straps but what

:25:13. > :25:17.an opportunity here. We have seen yet another big performance from a

:25:18. > :25:20.British athlete here in the Olympic Stadium and the conditions are

:25:21. > :25:28.pretty much ideal. A slight head wind in the first heat.

:25:29. > :25:38.So Bascou is in lane five. Latin Americans Clarke is in lane six. The

:25:39. > :25:45.top three to go through. Bascou got a cracking start.

:25:46. > :25:50.Clarke starting to come through in the middle.

:25:51. > :25:56.Bascou is in front. Lawrence Clarke is falling off a little bit.

:25:57. > :26:04.I'm not sure if Lawrence got the top three. But the time, 13.28. It may

:26:05. > :26:10.have been close enough. I reckon four will go through, maybe even

:26:11. > :26:23.five. This is an event where the French have a lot of talent. At the

:26:24. > :26:26.end Langard managed to get ahead. But Bascou is the best of the

:26:27. > :26:31.French. Yes, he has had a cracking indoor

:26:32. > :26:36.season. Taking the French indoor season. So running well from the

:26:37. > :26:42.beginning of the year. Sometimes he makes mistakes. Kicking the barriers

:26:43. > :26:47.with the lead leg. He is not sighting the hurdles early

:26:48. > :26:52.enough. Once he starts to accelerate, which

:26:53. > :26:58.is about now when he hits the top speed he starts to get close to the

:26:59. > :27:03.barriers. As the lead leg is going first, he is just right of them all

:27:04. > :27:07.of the time. That must be frustrating, that will draw him

:27:08. > :27:12.back. Just taken there. But he will be a threat in the final, that is

:27:13. > :27:21.for sure. As suspected, fourth and fifth was

:27:22. > :27:29.good enough. Lawrence Clarke pipped Eton. But both are quick enough to

:27:30. > :27:40.go through along with the athletes from the first heat. Douvalidis came

:27:41. > :27:45.through. Bascou and Lovett with Clarke and

:27:46. > :27:52.Eton through to the final. Up on the track next it is the men's

:27:53. > :27:59.400m. It is a strong field. Looking at Hudson Smith. There he is with

:28:00. > :28:04.the shades on. Relaxed. He is young but inexperienced and hampered by

:28:05. > :28:09.injury. You have had a chat with him, Michael. You gave him tips.

:28:10. > :28:14.This will be a good indicator of where he is today. Whether he has

:28:15. > :28:18.the hopes and the inoperations of making a top final.

:28:19. > :28:25.I think today is a good opportunity for him. He is the fastest in the

:28:26. > :28:31.field of the runners there. He has run well with his PB. I believe he

:28:32. > :28:40.is not far off after having a year off last year. He has run the UK

:28:41. > :28:46.Championships to first place and take the team. This is a competition

:28:47. > :28:51.in which to stamp his position as one of the best. A potential

:28:52. > :28:55.finalist. He should not be worried about medals but focus on getting

:28:56. > :29:00.into the final in Rio. That is where anything can happen. I think he has

:29:01. > :29:06.a very good chance of that. He is a great young runner. I would like the

:29:07. > :29:10.form cleaned up a little bit. Some of the things he does near the end

:29:11. > :29:15.of the race. I pointed that out to him in the studio. He took it will.

:29:16. > :29:19.Let's see if he can apply that. But I think that obviously he and his

:29:20. > :29:23.coach have done the right things, he is exactly where you want to be,

:29:24. > :29:31.getting close to the personal best as you come into the Olympic Games.

:29:32. > :29:38.He is there. It will be a top 400m. The event has moved on with LaShawn

:29:39. > :29:43.Merritt and James. The top three were all under 44

:29:44. > :29:51.seconds. Such a quick final. And looking at the times this year,

:29:52. > :29:57.Michael, again, before a major championship, LaShawn Merritt has

:29:58. > :30:09.dipped under 44. He leads with 43.97. And Kirani

:30:10. > :30:14.James is doing well. Wayde van Niekerk is running well. So a tough

:30:15. > :30:22.field. But after the three it drops off.

:30:23. > :30:27.That is where I think that Matthew Hudson Smith can do well. If you

:30:28. > :30:32.have the lane and the lane draw goes your well he could find himself in

:30:33. > :30:35.the mix with all of the big names and just run it. He does not have

:30:36. > :30:43.the championship experience but it could work in his favour. There is

:30:44. > :30:49.not a lot of expectation. Those guys, there is expectation, LaShawn

:30:50. > :30:53.Merritt, Olympic champion, Nierke world champion.

:30:54. > :30:58.So he does not have to live up to that hype. He could find himself in

:30:59. > :31:03.a good position. But it all starts today. He needs to win this today to

:31:04. > :31:09.go to Rio with the confidence. We'll get to that when it happens.

:31:10. > :31:12.First let's go to Steve Backley to find out what is happening on the

:31:13. > :31:23.field with the long jump action. The second round of the long jump

:31:24. > :31:28.and it is the Olympic champion Jessica Ennis-Hill taking to the

:31:29. > :31:35.runway for her second attempt. It's the board again as she did, she is

:31:36. > :31:41.so precise. In everything she does. She looks so reliable, she is

:31:42. > :31:46.looking for a jump beyond 6.18. Quite anxious, the look on her face.

:31:47. > :31:53.Let's have a look, similar distance to the first round. She has space to

:31:54. > :31:58.spare. That is a plus. Look at this, driving hard, she has been working

:31:59. > :32:05.on holding that hang. Cut the sand early. Just one centimetre

:32:06. > :32:13.improvement. She will be looking to add 22 that if she can. -- 20, two

:32:14. > :32:17.that if she can. After a decent first-round jump for Johnson

:32:18. > :32:23.Thomson, I'm sure it would be nervous after what happened last

:32:24. > :32:28.summer. She is the world indoor silver-medallist. 6.92 is her best

:32:29. > :32:35.outdoors. She is close to her best. Hitting the broad better that time.

:32:36. > :32:40.6.63 was her first round jump. Really good in the high jump

:32:41. > :32:49.yesterday. Looking good ahead of Rio, has to be said. This event, day

:32:50. > :32:52.one, event one. The feeling of both Jess and Katarina, running and

:32:53. > :33:00.jumping yesterday and coming back into the Olympic Stadium today, good

:33:01. > :33:05.dress rehearsal ahead of Rio. Mike is there. Just two centimetres

:33:06. > :33:10.shallow. That is her best far, 6.6 three. The men's 400 metres is not a

:33:11. > :33:13.Diamond League event so this is not the strongest line-up, but the three

:33:14. > :33:19.Britons who will compete individually are here. That could be

:33:20. > :33:24.the relay quartet for the Olympics. We have seen how quick the track is.

:33:25. > :33:34.How quick the conditions are. We will be looking out for some good

:33:35. > :33:42.times. He is a tall man. It will be tight for him on the inside lane,

:33:43. > :33:47.Luka Janezic. Solomon, this is where he had his greatest moment as a

:33:48. > :33:58.19-year-old. But he missed the qualifying standard by 407 second

:33:59. > :34:04.for Australia. -- for hundredths of a second.

:34:05. > :34:16.World indoor bronze-medallist, Deon Lendore. And this is a great chance

:34:17. > :34:20.for Hudson Smith to bounce back after a chastening final leg of the

:34:21. > :34:31.4x400m relay at Amsterdam at the Europeans. Just outside him he has

:34:32. > :34:41.the twice European champion after his victory in Amsterdam, Peking

:34:42. > :34:49.nicely, close to sub 45, Rooney. Onto a familiar name in 400-metre

:34:50. > :35:03.terms. Jonathan Borlee Kevin Borlee has been running better. Rabah

:35:04. > :35:08.Yousif Was in great form last year. Can he start to find a little bit

:35:09. > :35:14.more? There is Williams, he will be part of the relay squad like he was

:35:15. > :35:18.in Beijing last year. He started out as a 200 metres man and a great

:35:19. > :35:23.talent there but does most of his training over 400 metres now. It is

:35:24. > :35:28.a straight final in the men's four metres. As I mentioned, even though

:35:29. > :35:31.this is a Diamond League meeting not all of the events count towards the

:35:32. > :35:37.Diamond League standings, this one does not, but it has plenty of

:35:38. > :36:04.interest. It's a very strong British contingent in the line-up.

:36:05. > :36:16.Now, that looked as though it might have been Rooney. There was a ripple

:36:17. > :36:21.of applause and a bit of noise. From the naked eye I thought Rooney was

:36:22. > :36:28.out very quickly, to say the least. It is not just your naked eye, the

:36:29. > :36:32.eagle eye of the electronic system has identified Rooney, but there was

:36:33. > :36:36.a ripple of applause so the starter might be kind. It wasn't even a

:36:37. > :36:43.false start, he was away long before the gun. I wonder he will just get a

:36:44. > :36:50.warning. We will see. The long jump was taking place and everyone got

:36:51. > :36:56.excited by that. Martyn Rooney tries to busy himself, and he looks to the

:36:57. > :37:07.screen to hope. Well, he has been disqualified. I think that is harsh.

:37:08. > :37:11.He is not contesting it, it was a false start which is unusual in the

:37:12. > :37:15.400, but the ripple of applause just as he was getting into the set

:37:16. > :37:20.position, that is always disconcerting, that is sad for the

:37:21. > :37:24.European champion. And deeply frustrating. He would have been

:37:25. > :37:31.targeting sub 45 in these conditions where everyone has been flying.

:37:32. > :37:45.Matthew Hudson-Smith has a bit of a gap outside him. He is now looking

:37:46. > :37:49.to Jonathan Borlee. We are now settled again for the 400 metres.

:37:50. > :37:53.Now they are asking them to stand up which emphasises how cruel it is

:37:54. > :37:58.that they did not do that the first time. That is the discretion of the

:37:59. > :38:03.starter. If on that occasion he had enough time to ask them to stand up,

:38:04. > :38:07.they were further into the sequence first time round. Now, you can argue

:38:08. > :38:11.that Rooney should still have stayed in his position but whenever the

:38:12. > :38:15.crowd made a noise when you are in that starting sequence, normally the

:38:16. > :38:20.starter like on that occasion would ask everyone to settle down. We

:38:21. > :38:25.handed earlier on when someone shouted go in one of the races as

:38:26. > :38:29.well. We asked the crowd to remain quiet, there are a few events going

:38:30. > :38:38.on and normally things are a bit quieter. Anyway, here we go.

:38:39. > :39:05.Well, it blows again but this time they get away. It is pretty even at

:39:06. > :39:14.the moment. Borlee is moving alongside Yousef. Stretching those

:39:15. > :39:21.long legs again, Hudson Smith. Good effort by Deon Lendore inside Hudson

:39:22. > :39:28.Smith. Hudson Smith, it is pretty even. Yousef has a bit of ground to

:39:29. > :39:33.make up. Hudson Smith is now alongside and beginning to stretch

:39:34. > :39:36.out. Finishing quickly. Matthew Hudson-Smith just from Deon Lendore.

:39:37. > :39:43.Hudson Smith is strong towards the line. Just outside 45 seconds.

:39:44. > :39:45.Matthew Hudson-Smith takes the victory and salves some of the

:39:46. > :39:51.wounds from the European Championship. Rounded down to 45.0

:39:52. > :39:57.three. It was not sparklingly quick but it is victory for Hudson Smith.

:39:58. > :40:00.He won the UK title and again he says it would have been lovely to

:40:01. > :40:04.see Martyn Rooney racing against him but he is the best Britain has to

:40:05. > :40:11.offer at the moment. Yes, that is a pity because that sort of time, and

:40:12. > :40:15.with Rooney in the race, who knows? Maybe not having anybody in the lane

:40:16. > :40:22.outside did not help. Came under a bit of pressure here, Yousef fades.

:40:23. > :40:27.Any one of three or four at this point, Deon Lendore going well. Very

:40:28. > :40:33.even, there. Yousef is coming but then his charge falters. He

:40:34. > :40:37.stretches this out, nothing more than that, 45 seconds, you know,

:40:38. > :40:41.that's OK, but as Michael Johnson was making the point earlier you

:40:42. > :40:46.have to move up levels if you are to go through the rounds, because this

:40:47. > :40:49.will be an incredibly tough event come Rio. You can only beat the

:40:50. > :40:56.people who are here and that's the most important thing. It's a pity

:40:57. > :41:01.that Rooney was not there to content that with Matthew Hudson-Smith. 10th

:41:02. > :41:04.in the world. Again, strength in depth in the men's 400 metres and

:41:05. > :41:08.all of the British athletes will have defined something else and it

:41:09. > :41:12.will be interesting to see how Rooney goes, it would have been

:41:13. > :41:17.fascinating to see him today. Hudson Smith takes the victory with just

:41:18. > :41:24.outside 45 seconds. Taking the weight off his feet after that. Not

:41:25. > :41:33.your fastest raced of the season, bit of disruption with Rooney being

:41:34. > :41:45.the athlete disqualified. It was a bit new to me, three false starts. I

:41:46. > :41:48.did not really get out as well as I wanted but I got the win and that is

:41:49. > :41:55.all I wanted really. I finished strong. Now it is time to start

:41:56. > :41:59.tapering and onto Rio. Those are exactly the kinds of scenarios and

:42:00. > :42:06.situations you could find yourself in a major championships? Yes,

:42:07. > :42:09.anything can happen at championships and that is the beauty of them,

:42:10. > :42:14.anything can happen on the day and today I was the one who worked to

:42:15. > :42:20.the best of his ability and won. The men's 400 metres could be one of the

:42:21. > :42:26.great races in Rio, you have all of the top guys in top form, do you

:42:27. > :42:30.have the form to get into the final? If you look at my championship

:42:31. > :42:34.performance record, I have always seemed to do it when it matters.

:42:35. > :42:43.People like the big three, there are people out there, the Bahamas and

:42:44. > :42:47.Trinidad teams, we are all in the same boat. I am just going back to

:42:48. > :42:52.execute and basically try to win and do my best and that's all I can do.

:42:53. > :42:57.Well done for winning today. Thank you. A mixed bag for the British

:42:58. > :43:01.athletes in the race. Hudson Smith taking the victory. Martyn Rooney

:43:02. > :43:14.down there with a false start. We are into the third round of the

:43:15. > :43:18.long jump, Katarina Johnson-Thompson in third place at the moment with

:43:19. > :43:22.her season's best. She backed it up nicely in the second round, so she's

:43:23. > :43:28.in the groove. Her run-up is working. Off she goes on her third

:43:29. > :43:36.attempt, chasing Shara Proctor's 6.70 seven. That's better, that is

:43:37. > :43:42.good from Katarina Johnson-Thompson. It is Britain one and two at the

:43:43. > :43:48.moment, Jessica Ennis-Hill, 6.19 is her best so far. Johnson Thomson, a

:43:49. > :43:52.bit of a statement in fact when you think about the competition that

:43:53. > :43:57.might unfold between Johnson Thomson and Jessica Ennis-Hill in the

:43:58. > :44:05.habitat one. This is event five, of course. -- heptathlon. One of their

:44:06. > :44:10.best of the seven. 6.78, she takes the lead by one centimetre. Ahead of

:44:11. > :44:17.Shara Proctor. And a new season's best, that was a brilliant jump.

:44:18. > :44:25.Great jumping from Katarina Johnson-Thompson, at very hot long

:44:26. > :44:29.jump competition. Was Matthew Hudson Smith hot enough for you? He did

:44:30. > :44:33.what he had to do, could have been worse. If he hadn't won that race

:44:34. > :44:38.because it was not a super high quality field, that would not have

:44:39. > :44:43.been good for him. He did what he needed to do. You can only win the

:44:44. > :44:47.race. Under 45 seconds and being consistent word have been good. It

:44:48. > :44:53.would have given him a little bit more confidence and we could have

:44:54. > :45:02.heard a bit more confidence in his postrace interview had he gone under

:45:03. > :45:11.45, which he has done this year. The Borlee s are always tough and they

:45:12. > :45:17.will be there. He was speaking sensibly about that. They have run

:45:18. > :45:22.44.2, some of those guys, so he needs to consistently run 44. I can

:45:23. > :45:26.see a situation in Rio where the first round is very quick in the 400

:45:27. > :45:31.metres so he will have to run four rounds of very quick races to be in

:45:32. > :45:35.that position for a medal. We will be talking about Mo Farah shortly,

:45:36. > :45:49.it is not time for him just yet, we will see him after 4:30pm running

:45:50. > :45:52.his first competitive five kilometres on the track this year. A

:45:53. > :45:54.big test for him. This is where he won double gold in 2012 on Super

:45:55. > :45:57.Saturday, the wonderful occasion that we will all remember forever.

:45:58. > :46:08.He is now going for back-to-back Olympic golds. Steve Cram quarter

:46:09. > :46:12.with him. -- caught up with him. Back in London, track that has so

:46:13. > :46:17.many memories for you, you must love racing here. I love coming down here

:46:18. > :46:22.to the Olympic Stadium, I walked in last night and it was empty and that

:46:23. > :46:30.was amazing to think back to 2012. In three weeks' time, all of those

:46:31. > :46:36.memories I have, it was incredible. Are those memories still strong? I

:46:37. > :46:42.get nervous just thinking about it. Life has changed. Are you better now

:46:43. > :46:48.than you wear them? Definitely. I have moved on a lot and got

:46:49. > :46:53.stronger. I learn about racing quicker, and I try to analyse and

:46:54. > :46:59.come up with the best tactics. Last year was hard, the Kenyan guys made

:47:00. > :47:03.it hard for me, and then I came back to win the five, and that was pretty

:47:04. > :47:08.good. On an Olympic year they will make it hard for me. Are the Kenyan

:47:09. > :47:13.is going to have a plan? If they do, that is what I ask myself, how fast

:47:14. > :47:17.can you run? I have to make sure I do everything I can.

:47:18. > :47:24.find out what is happening on the field with the long jump action.

:47:25. > :47:36.# Move on up # Move on up. Mo Farah, it's gold!

:47:37. > :47:41.The Olympics was special. Has it been something that's been sitting

:47:42. > :47:46.with you for a while? It feels like it was yesterday but it is not, it

:47:47. > :47:52.was four years ago. The major medals but the best is the Olympics. It

:47:53. > :47:57.would be nice to have another two gold medals. It does drive me a bit.

:47:58. > :48:01.It would be nice. World medals are greater, by

:48:02. > :48:07.Olympics is where it is at? Yes, it is where it's at. It would be nice

:48:08. > :48:11.to have it towards the end of your career. It is going to be the last

:48:12. > :48:17.Olympics in it weres of the track. It would be nice to have something,

:48:18. > :48:24.and then do one more worlds in 2017. And then see what I can do.

:48:25. > :48:30.Mo, as jolly and efusive as he ever is. Steve Cram having a chat with

:48:31. > :48:35.him. He is in a good place. I can't believe it is four years since he

:48:36. > :48:42.was here and winning double gold. Is he in the right shape to do it from

:48:43. > :48:46.what you have seen? Absolutely. He knows how extraordinary it really

:48:47. > :48:50.is, what he accomplished over the past four years since those

:48:51. > :48:55.victories. In London 2012. He came into that with a world title from

:48:56. > :49:00.2011. So to keep the role going over the amount of time he has done is

:49:01. > :49:07.phenomenal. But it is has bolstered his confidence. Where he comes out,

:49:08. > :49:12.people will look at it on paper, he took a knock in the world marathon,

:49:13. > :49:18.the knock in the cross-country but they are all distances that are not

:49:19. > :49:21.his forte. He knows that 5,000 and 10,000, he still holdses the cards

:49:22. > :49:27.and has the domination over the other guys. He is the one to beat.

:49:28. > :49:33.And the Kenyans, it is the if, and it is a big if. They have to have

:49:34. > :49:41.the talent and get it right if they don't, if there is an opening there,

:49:42. > :49:46.he will jump on it, Mo. And Mo's modus.Randy is I don't care

:49:47. > :49:52.what you think but you can use the tactics but as long as I'm producing

:49:53. > :49:58.the times. And the foot speed -- modus.Randy.

:49:59. > :50:03.But tactically, the race is sometimes different, are you

:50:04. > :50:09.confident he is in great shape ahead of the championship? I think so.

:50:10. > :50:20.This is the first time he races over the 5,000. We will see.

:50:21. > :50:25.Coming coming up on the track next it is the men's 400-metre hurdles.

:50:26. > :50:34.Steve Cram is on the track with them.

:50:35. > :50:40.So, a little time to get the 400m hurdles for the men. There is LJ Van

:50:41. > :50:48.Zyl. Dutch, Copello, Clement. Sebastian

:50:49. > :50:51.Roger and Jack Green are our two representatives in Rio. Great

:50:52. > :50:59.quality in the race. The three fastest men in the world this year.

:51:00. > :51:06.Jacob Paul coming in. What an opportunity for him.

:51:07. > :51:13.In lane one. That is not always easy. And then an experienced man to

:51:14. > :51:20.follow, 31 years of age, Van Zyl. Still in good form. It is really an

:51:21. > :51:28.open event. Johnny Dutch who we will see is the world's fastest but the

:51:29. > :51:32.likes of Culson, the Olympic bronze-medallist, behind Tinsley,

:51:33. > :51:37.very much the same sort of people. Clement in this, coming back to

:51:38. > :51:44.great form. But Dutch did not make the American team, much like Kenny

:51:45. > :51:48.articleson. Johnny Dutch is in five. Then Copello.

:51:49. > :51:53.A very good performance from him at the European Championships. He won

:51:54. > :52:00.there on a personal best in the semi-finals, 48.42. Ranked number

:52:01. > :52:08.two in the world. There is Kerron Clement. Well, he is finding the

:52:09. > :52:14.sort of form of days of old former world champion. Sebastian Roger.

:52:15. > :52:20.Well, he clocked up some miles to get himself to Rio after winning the

:52:21. > :52:24.British championships. Four attempts, to France, to Finland and

:52:25. > :52:29.Belgium finally to get the qualifying time, 49 high pressure

:52:30. > :52:35.29. Then Jack Green on the outside in lain nine. So Jack Green and Seb

:52:36. > :52:43.Roger have made it tonne the team in Rio. But there is a very strong

:52:44. > :52:48.field here. Tinsley in four. Johnny Dutch in five, Capello and Kerron

:52:49. > :52:53.Clement. Clement who won the American trials. He is 30 years of

:52:54. > :53:05.age. It seems he has been around forever. Tinsley... He's in four.

:53:06. > :53:11.Culson is inside of him from Puerto Rico.

:53:12. > :53:19.So a clean start. Well behaved! I expected cullson to

:53:20. > :53:24.get out hard. He has done. Going well is Clement in lane seven.

:53:25. > :53:31.Forcing his way through the first 200-metre. The big long legs of his

:53:32. > :53:36.eating up the ground. Tinsley, Capello are all in contention. Jack

:53:37. > :53:40.Green trying to go with this. Now Capello in the orange vest.

:53:41. > :53:45.Stuttering into that as he changes down. Culson, Clement and Capello.

:53:46. > :53:50.But it is Culson forcing his wade forward. Culson looking good. The

:53:51. > :53:54.others faulter. Clement is struggling here.

:53:55. > :54:01.Culson is coming in under pressure. Clement comes back. His momentum

:54:02. > :54:08.gets in there. Clement win it is. From Culson, then Capello. 48.42. As

:54:09. > :54:14.with all of the times. 48.40, the winning time. That is a

:54:15. > :54:18.season best. I'm trying to work that one out it was like he started well,

:54:19. > :54:23.went through a difficult patch. Culson did not last out. That is

:54:24. > :54:27.what happens with him. But goodness me, Clement was strong off the last

:54:28. > :54:33.hurdle. The season's best he is rewarded with. But surely more to

:54:34. > :54:37.come from Clement? You are right, Steve. We could not call this from

:54:38. > :54:43.the beginning. He was up and down with form. We were not sure who

:54:44. > :54:47.would take the title. But Clement, I would love to see him push all the

:54:48. > :54:51.way from the middle part of the bend where he could keep the acceleration

:54:52. > :54:58.going. He always demonstrates he has the strength when in good shape.

:54:59. > :55:03.Remember his personal best, mind you, 47.24. So still a long way off

:55:04. > :55:08.what he is capable of doing. But if he can keep the force around the

:55:09. > :55:13.corner, the bend. If he can get it down closer to the times, as he does

:55:14. > :55:20.keep focussed. He does not panic at the barriers. He sits right. And

:55:21. > :55:27.runs off the final barrier with the speed he has. Remember he is the

:55:28. > :55:33.world indoor recordholder for the 400m. So Clement is very good. He

:55:34. > :55:37.will be filled with a lot of confidence in the Olympic Games.

:55:38. > :55:42.More than capable of stepping up another gear and proving that he is

:55:43. > :55:49.world number one. A decent run from Jack Green on the outside.

:55:50. > :55:57.100th off the season's best. He got fifth place.

:55:58. > :56:02.Looking across. So a full result then. Clement with the season's

:56:03. > :56:07.best. Culson a season's best for him. Copello continuing his good

:56:08. > :56:13.form this year. And Jack Green, the best of the British athletes in

:56:14. > :56:21.fifth place. There is good and bad news in the

:56:22. > :56:28.long jump. The bad news is that Jess Ennis-Hill was unable to improve on

:56:29. > :56:36.her last jump. The good news is that Katrina Johnson-Thompson is still

:56:37. > :56:42.there with 6:6.. Looking to improve also on a 6.78. She attacked this

:56:43. > :56:49.hard. That is better. Close to seven metres. Well, you would not tell by

:56:50. > :56:55.the reaction but she has been smiling. Great to see herself

:56:56. > :57:02.enjoying in this event. A brilliant day yesterday. 1.95 in the high

:57:03. > :57:09.jump. Putting together an impressive series. Slightly unbalanced there on

:57:10. > :57:18.the board. Leaning across. But this looks like an improvement on the

:57:19. > :57:23.6.78. It is. 6.84. Another season's best. And two jumps

:57:24. > :57:32.remaining. Right, in the fifth round of the

:57:33. > :57:38.long jump. Proctor chasing the lead. Much better height on that. Well,

:57:39. > :57:41.rock are, relishing the competition. We drewing from the European

:57:42. > :57:45.Championships with a sore knee a couple of weeks ago. Looking close

:57:46. > :57:51.on the board. If maybe a foul it will be measured. Oh, look at this.

:57:52. > :57:58.It does not get closer than that to being a foul. Look at the height

:57:59. > :58:03.though. This has got to be long. If she kept the acceleration tonne

:58:04. > :58:16.that, this must be the best so far. 6.77. Oh, look at that, 6.80.

:58:17. > :58:20.A season's best. Second place. Shara Proctor posting a season's best. A

:58:21. > :58:26.very good time as she heads to Rio. In a few minute's time it is the

:58:27. > :58:35.women's 100-metre heats. But to put it into context we have this recap

:58:36. > :58:43.of the 2016 sprinting story. In women's sprinting in as in the mens

:58:44. > :58:48.it is Jamaica that is ahead. What of shally an Fraser-Pryce? Like

:58:49. > :58:55.Usain Bolt going for her third Olympic title. Like Bolt, injury

:58:56. > :59:02.disrupted the season but is peak in time. No more brutal event than the

:59:03. > :59:09.US trials but the American top three all made it. But the Jamaican rule

:59:10. > :59:16.could be threatened. Measure yell of the Ivory Coast is

:59:17. > :59:20.finding her form again. Asha Philip and Daryll Neita go from Britain.

:59:21. > :59:28.But Europe's best is from Dafne Schippers. If she is a contender in

:59:29. > :59:32.the 100, she starts favourite in the 200, where her power shines through.

:59:33. > :59:37.And Tori Bowie doubling up after winning the US trials, where the

:59:38. > :59:44.great Alison Felix missed by a fraction.

:59:45. > :59:50.Elaine Thompson running the 100 and the it 00 for Jamaica, and counting

:59:51. > :59:56.on Veronica Campbell Brown, winning in Athens and Beijing. Shaun Miller

:59:57. > :00:03.of the Bahamas is also running this year. For Britain, Dina Asher-Smith

:00:04. > :00:07.decided her strength lies in the longer sprint, accompanied by Jodie

:00:08. > :00:14.Williams but it is Dafne Schippers who is the woman to beat here. In

:00:15. > :00:19.Rio, she could well become purely and simply, a sprinting great.

:00:20. > :00:23.Dafne Schippers, coming up in the second heat. Shelley-Ann

:00:24. > :00:28.Fraser-Pryce, the outstanding athlete if you are talking golds in

:00:29. > :00:33.the first heat. But this has not been the ideal build-up for Rio? No,

:00:34. > :00:37.she has been having problems with her toe.

:00:38. > :00:48.It is painful and stiff. But getting into shape. Still running #0 #10

:00:49. > :00:52.well this year. She has confidence, does not need so many races. Coming

:00:53. > :00:57.at the right time. This will be a test today. She has two

:00:58. > :01:00.opportunities today. If she gets into the finals, two opportunities

:01:01. > :01:06.to work on the technical things, I'm sure she would have lacked at the

:01:07. > :01:07.earlier part of the season. Let's get the full line-up from Andrew

:01:08. > :01:18.Cotter. It is a toe injury for Shelly and

:01:19. > :01:26.price. She is not in her best form. -- Shelly-Ann Fraser-Price. Desiree

:01:27. > :01:36.Henry will try to keep pace. Louise Bloor also going for Britain. In

:01:37. > :01:42.lane one, the American-born Brazilian champion. Nowhere near her

:01:43. > :01:52.times of last year. Rosen Jell-o Christina Oliveira Santos. And

:01:53. > :02:02.Claudia Lemos had a sample test positive but the B sample was fine.

:02:03. > :02:13.Crystal Emmanuel, the Canadian. Morolake Akinosun is a reserve in

:02:14. > :02:21.the relay. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Price, second to Thompson in the Jamaican

:02:22. > :02:32.Championships. Had to pull out of the 200. Shows the concerns she has

:02:33. > :02:44.with her injury. Williams, with Thompson. Desiree Henry still 20.

:02:45. > :02:50.11.06. Inside her, the Europeans. Her whole body cramped up. Keep an

:02:51. > :03:07.eye on her today. Simone faced the very good runner. -- Facey. Then

:03:08. > :03:15.Louise Bloor who ran in the B squad. Two heats. This is the first. Three

:03:16. > :03:17.goes through automatically plus the three fastest losers. Conditions

:03:18. > :03:27.near enough perfect. It is very warm. It is very still. We have seen

:03:28. > :03:30.some quick times. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Price, questions to be

:03:31. > :03:38.answered with her form. Seems to be coming good. That toe injury really

:03:39. > :04:02.has had her flying this season. Shelly and Facey usually so quickly

:04:03. > :04:09.out. -- Fraser-Pryce. With a victory. 11.0 five. Just ahead of

:04:10. > :04:17.Chris Danny Williams, have fellow countrywomen. -- Christinia. Gone

:04:18. > :04:31.through to the final. I think she was very much within

:04:32. > :04:35.herself. Cautious is a word I would use out of the blocks. There was not

:04:36. > :04:39.an explosive start but we are used to build it is not necessary in the

:04:40. > :04:46.heats and the qualifying round for that she puts herself out in front

:04:47. > :04:52.of the field. Keep an eye on Desiree Henry. She has run really well. Come

:04:53. > :04:59.through and taken bird. A high-quality field. It was important

:05:00. > :05:05.for her to qualify. -- third. She has suffered a lots from injuries.

:05:06. > :05:10.To return in that form is fantastic. She needs to deliver those types of

:05:11. > :05:26.performances. Great to get there. I am hoping she can raise her game.

:05:27. > :05:28.Again a look at -- Fraser-Pryce. She will look at perhaps a tenth also

:05:29. > :05:43.more to come in the final. She goes through automatically, as

:05:44. > :05:52.does Williams. Desiree Henry takes the third qualifying place.

:05:53. > :05:59.Shara Proctor asks full support from the home crowd here in the Olympic

:06:00. > :06:05.Stadium. The silver-medallist last year in Beijing in the World

:06:06. > :06:14.Championships. Possibly the last jump she will have prior to going

:06:15. > :06:21.out to Rio. Another big jump. She looked as though she is in one

:06:22. > :06:25.piece. That is great news after some injury scares in European

:06:26. > :06:30.Championships recently. A puff of the cheeks. Her work is done,

:06:31. > :06:36.whatever it measures. Let's have a look at this. 6.84 she is chasing.

:06:37. > :06:43.She may have to settle for second best. Eight centimetres shy. So

:06:44. > :06:52.crucial to get as close as you can to the plasticine without going

:06:53. > :06:58.beyond it. Her best so far, 6.80 in the previous round. A good series.

:06:59. > :07:05.Second place. A win for Katarina Johnson-Thompson. That's 6.84 jump

:07:06. > :07:12.is equal tenth best in the world this year. Can she improve on it in

:07:13. > :07:16.the last round? She just over strides again. That was a strange

:07:17. > :07:24.jump. It looks like there is mass is more to come bust up that bodes

:07:25. > :07:31.well. A shake of the head. -- masses more to come. She would have taken

:07:32. > :07:35.any of the six jumps last year in Beijing. She did not complete the

:07:36. > :07:43.take-off. All aborted halfway through. Another long jump into the

:07:44. > :07:49.sandpit and just the boost she would have needed. I can see her smiling.

:07:50. > :07:56.She knew it was not quite right. Congratulations all around. A

:07:57. > :08:07.victory for Johnson-Thompson. A season of Matt Best. There is the

:08:08. > :08:17.confirmation. -- a season's best. Jessica Ennis-Hill as to settle for

:08:18. > :08:24.a season best. Sandra Perkovic, the world leader. Very dominant in this

:08:25. > :08:34.competition. A big scream a big shout. The discus wings out for the

:08:35. > :08:42.Croatian. She became Croatia's first ever Olympic champion in athletics

:08:43. > :08:48.in this very stadium. Trying to get the crowd involved. She enjoyed that

:08:49. > :08:57.throw. She opened up with 64.80. That looks close to 70 metres will

:08:58. > :09:02.stop snaps the right hip in. That would have been in no throw if she

:09:03. > :09:11.fell out the front. Then time to celebrate as she watches the fly

:09:12. > :09:15.out. 69.94 and a new meeting record. The big statement from her and

:09:16. > :09:23.surely that is enough from her to win. We're onto the second heat of

:09:24. > :09:30.the women's 100 metres. The Natasha Smith will be going in lane five,

:09:31. > :09:40.right in the middle. -- Deena Asher Smith. Three British athletes in

:09:41. > :09:47.this. All three women part of the 4x100 Quartet that broke the record

:09:48. > :09:54.last night in such style. Being has been brought in as a late

:09:55. > :10:00.replacement for the French athlete. The Canadian from the relay is in

:10:01. > :10:05.lane one macro. Remona Burchell from Jamaica, studies in the USA. She has

:10:06. > :10:17.been collegiate champion on three occasions. Now Daryll Neita, the

:10:18. > :10:27.19-year-old who anchored the team so brilliantly last night. She is going

:10:28. > :10:36.individually to Rio, as is this athlete from the Ivory Coast. This

:10:37. > :10:40.is the track last year where Dina Asher-Smith set the track record

:10:41. > :10:51.last year. She is running very well, very fast. What can she do here?

:10:52. > :10:56.Ahye, from Trinidad and Tobago, the fastest in the field. 10.85 her

:10:57. > :11:09.personal sub just missed out on a medal in the world indoors. That is

:11:10. > :11:14.her personal best. Philip led off superbly last night, as ever, in the

:11:15. > :11:23.first leg. She won the UK trials in the 100 metres and then on the

:11:24. > :11:32.outside, Stella Akakpo from France, warmer European champion. -- former

:11:33. > :11:36.European champion. Dina Asher-Smith did the 10.99 in their heats last

:11:37. > :11:42.year of the 200 metres. She said this should she was was going to

:11:43. > :11:45.concentrate on the one event, the 200, at the Olympic Games and huge

:11:46. > :11:58.opportunity for the women in that event. Also the 19 rolled and Asha

:11:59. > :12:06.Philip trying to get to the final. -- the 19-year-old. Dina Asher-Smith

:12:07. > :12:15.gets a pretty good start. Coming through Ahye. 10.98 the winning

:12:16. > :12:20.time. That will probably be taken down as most of them have. Pretty

:12:21. > :12:30.impressive running. A massive personal best. It has gone to 10.90

:12:31. > :12:44.six. That will be a national record. Marry Josay tar loop taking a huge

:12:45. > :12:49.advantage. -- Marie-Josee Ta Lou. Dina Asher-Smith with a season best

:12:50. > :12:52.as well. That was much quicker, almost certainly quicker than the

:12:53. > :12:58.first heat. Goodness me she did well. It was a very competitive

:12:59. > :13:05.race. All of the time into a strong headwind. Anything over -1 is pretty

:13:06. > :13:10.tough for the athletes to handle. Marie-Josee Ta Lou, an incredible

:13:11. > :13:14.performance. That is a metre. When you are talking about track

:13:15. > :13:25.distance, a metre of her personal best into a strong headwind. It will

:13:26. > :13:30.be a tough race. Everybody in this race is really strong. Out of the

:13:31. > :13:39.blocks well. Really competitive. It is really good to see. I need to

:13:40. > :13:45.correct myself. I forgot there was a superb 10.78 ran earlier in the

:13:46. > :13:48.season. Not a national record but a massive personal best for

:13:49. > :13:54.Marie-Josee Ta Lou. Dina Asher-Smith goes through. We'll tell you the

:13:55. > :13:59.fastest losers shortly. We saw a fantastic long jump competition

:14:00. > :14:06.earlier this afternoon. Katarina Johnson-Thompson building on her

:14:07. > :14:13.high jump yesterday to a season's best with her winning jump, which

:14:14. > :14:17.was 6.80 four. Pushing Shara Proctor, 6.80 into second place. She

:14:18. > :14:21.has such a demeanour that she never looks quite happy. A season's by

:14:22. > :14:30.some weight. Afterwards she caught up with Rob Walker. A cracking long

:14:31. > :14:34.jump competition! It is first and second for the Britons. Let's start

:14:35. > :14:41.off with you. What a time to nail a season best. I'd think it is the

:14:42. > :14:46.stadium. Every time I come here, I am glad I could reproduce some of

:14:47. > :14:51.the good jumping and consistency on the board. How much confidence does

:14:52. > :14:58.this give you going into last few weeks ahead of Rio? That is what I

:14:59. > :15:06.wanted. I did not get in a jump after last year's Beijing

:15:07. > :15:09.competition. Of course, we have Jess going in the Olympics as well,

:15:10. > :15:17.trying to defend her title. Does it give you added spice it is a writ

:15:18. > :15:23.issued reigning Olympic champion? -- that it is a British. She is such a

:15:24. > :15:29.good competitor. Olympic gold will not be an easy job for anyone. I

:15:30. > :15:35.will step up to the competition. Well done today and yesterday. And

:15:36. > :15:45.to you, Shara Proctor, a tidy season's best. The knee is 100%

:15:46. > :15:48.fine. It was a precaution. I spoke to my team doctors and my coach and

:15:49. > :15:50.they all agreed it was a good decision to pull out of the

:15:51. > :15:56.Europeans because I haven't eager picture, which is Rio. That is why

:15:57. > :16:03.sat out. I'm healthy, pain-free, and everything is good. A great medal

:16:04. > :16:06.last year. The likes of Brittany Rees have taken it over seven metres

:16:07. > :16:12.maybe that is what is required to get a medal. I cannot focus on other

:16:13. > :16:16.competitors, I have to focus on myself. I need to just focus on

:16:17. > :16:21.getting better each meet. That is what I came to do. I wanted to come

:16:22. > :16:27.here and have a season best. That is a big confidence booster.

:16:28. > :16:35.A great couple of days for Katarina Johnson-Thompson. To put that in

:16:36. > :16:42.context and what it will do for her, to beat her British competitor in

:16:43. > :16:44.the high jump, and to beat world silver-medallist Shara Proctor, it's

:16:45. > :16:50.two pretty impressive back-to-back jumps. It's a big confidence boost

:16:51. > :16:55.for her. She will no Shara Proctor is coming off injury and is not at

:16:56. > :16:59.his best, and as Proctor says, it's still a season best for her. This is

:17:00. > :17:06.a world-class competition and meeting. For Johnson-Thompson to

:17:07. > :17:11.come here and win the long jump against a world-class field, it's

:17:12. > :17:18.boding well for her confidence going to Rio. We can safely say the ghosts

:17:19. > :17:31.of the long jump at ageing have been banished? We can hope so. -- at

:17:32. > :17:39.Beijing. A habitat had heptathlon is a tough two-day competition.

:17:40. > :17:47.Jess didn't have a vintage long jump competition for her, she can go

:17:48. > :17:52.further. What do you make of it? A bit frustrating. I have seen better

:17:53. > :17:58.in training. You are seeing her lean back, not getting on the board in

:17:59. > :18:01.her more upright position. That's what led to the lower distances than

:18:02. > :18:05.I would have looked for. Let's available look at a couple of her

:18:06. > :18:11.jumps and you can talk us through what you are describing. As she is

:18:12. > :18:16.running out her body just leans back a little bit, and then she drops her

:18:17. > :18:21.feet in. If you look at the angle the body makes with the board, you

:18:22. > :18:25.want that to be around 20 degrees and she's leaning back about 30,

:18:26. > :18:29.slowing down through the last couple of steps into the board and losing

:18:30. > :18:34.speed. That's something that worked really well with Ratigan, working

:18:35. > :18:40.the speed across the board. She hasn't done that there, letting her

:18:41. > :18:45.head rise and lean back. There is a bit of a headwind, a little excuse,

:18:46. > :18:50.but it's not efficient, not the optimum position to jump. Is that

:18:51. > :18:54.the overarching emotion she will have, frustration? I haven't managed

:18:55. > :18:58.to speak to her, but I'm very happy and not travelling back with her to

:18:59. > :19:03.Sheffield! She will be frustrated with that performance because she

:19:04. > :19:07.knows she's better in the competition environment and she has

:19:08. > :19:12.been training better than that. That's the frustration, if you

:19:13. > :19:16.perform at one level in training, and not in competition, you haven't

:19:17. > :19:21.let it happen. What would cause that? Trying to get on the board?

:19:22. > :19:26.For those at home, they might say in stud of leaning back, just leans

:19:27. > :19:30.forward. It is as simple as that. With the best will in the world,

:19:31. > :19:38.it's as simple as that, running on the runway and gathering speed. She

:19:39. > :19:41.didn't seem to hit speed until three or five metres before the board and

:19:42. > :19:46.then she slowed down through the last couple of steps, which is

:19:47. > :19:50.critical. If you shorten you get a lowering of the hips and then a

:19:51. > :19:54.racing which can ping you off the board. That didn't work today. I

:19:55. > :20:00.don't think it's hitting the hurdles last night or bruising last night.

:20:01. > :20:04.She got a little knock last night. She hit in warm up before the heat

:20:05. > :20:10.and then clattered hurdle seven in the final. She woke up today feeling

:20:11. > :20:15.fine. Yeah, it shouldn't be an issue. It's basically courage, run

:20:16. > :20:20.and keep ripping into the board. Drive yourself across. Its speed

:20:21. > :20:23.that carries you far. They changed the rules in the Diamond League this

:20:24. > :20:28.season about jumping and how many jumps you can do. She couldn't keep

:20:29. > :20:33.going. People say there are six jumps, but that's not the case any

:20:34. > :20:37.more. I think it's a huge mistake by Diamond League. They are trying to

:20:38. > :20:43.speed things up. They are blaming television. It's crazy, this idea to

:20:44. > :20:48.speed up the competition, it's completely foolish to me. You find

:20:49. > :20:51.that the next three jumps takes around two minutes 15 between

:20:52. > :20:57.effort, and athletes don't recover that quickly in that time. The whole

:20:58. > :21:02.event is governed by the track timetable. They are cutting it for

:21:03. > :21:06.no reason. It's supposedly to jazz up the sport and speed it up, but we

:21:07. > :21:13.are just being deprived of competition. The ability to go from

:21:14. > :21:18.fifth to meddle and so on is so evident in things like long jump. I

:21:19. > :21:22.think it's a foolish mistake. And they should learn from that mistake.

:21:23. > :21:27.The jeopardy with six attempts is you could be in last and then

:21:28. > :21:30.produce a winning jump. Change is always hard. Looking at the context

:21:31. > :21:35.of what it used to be, it's a difficult change to make. But purely

:21:36. > :21:39.from the standpoint of competition between athletes, more even between

:21:40. > :21:43.everyone, maybe it's moving in the right direction but just needs

:21:44. > :21:50.tweaking. Best of luck over the next couple of weeks to Jess and thank

:21:51. > :21:54.you for joining us. We can get back to the track, the women are out for

:21:55. > :22:02.the 3000 metres steeplechase. Always a thriller of a race. We can go to

:22:03. > :22:09.Andrew Cotter and Brendan. COMMENTATOR: A belated good

:22:10. > :22:14.afternoon. This is a Diamond League race but without the Diamond League

:22:15. > :22:19.leader. In fact, most of the world's best are elsewhere choosing

:22:20. > :22:26.alternative preparations for Rio. Keep an eye out for Lennie Waite.

:22:27. > :22:30.Rosie Clarke is the UK champion. Lennie Waite will be going to Rio

:22:31. > :22:36.for Great Britain. She has run quickly this year, running 9.35 in

:22:37. > :22:40.Oregon. But she hasn't got close to that in other races. Needs to find

:22:41. > :22:45.something and in world terms you have to be up towards 9.30, below

:22:46. > :22:52.that if possible. Some women here have done below that. Have the

:22:53. > :23:01.degree be, the Tunisia, is the defending Olympic champion. -- happy

:23:02. > :23:08.degree be -- Habiba Ghribi. Madeline Hills is going through your shot,

:23:09. > :23:17.very strong. She was just behind the Kenyans in the Commonwealth Games a

:23:18. > :23:24.couple of years ago. Ghribi, now the gold-medallist from London. Just

:23:25. > :23:29.behind the pacemaker, Caroline Tuigong, looking to go through one

:23:30. > :23:36.kilometre in 3.05, to give you an idea of the pace. The Tunisia in

:23:37. > :23:49.Habiba Ghribi it in her 2012 Olympic gold medal. Now we know the original

:23:50. > :23:52.recipient of that medal was cheating, taking drugs, so Ghribi

:23:53. > :24:01.becomes the first Tunisian gold-medal winner for a woman. Back

:24:02. > :24:05.here and running better this season, ready to go hopefully on to Rio and

:24:06. > :24:10.acquit herself with athletes around her who haven't been cheating her.

:24:11. > :24:24.In the field here we have Lennie Waite of Great Britain in the main

:24:25. > :24:28.pack. The Scottish athlete. I'm just thinking, Andrew, a fantastic

:24:29. > :24:38.Scottish contingent in the team. Haley Doyle, Loram your, Chris

:24:39. > :24:49.O'Hare, Prichard. And three representatives in the marathon are

:24:50. > :24:56.all Scottish. I think it's a great put forward from Scotland in the

:24:57. > :25:02.Olympic team this year. The most is 15 in 1908. They hit the water

:25:03. > :25:07.again. They are beginning to stretch out a little bit, the chance for

:25:08. > :25:13.some quick times. It's warm and I think 3000 metres is roughly where

:25:14. > :25:17.it turns and the heat isn't much of a benefit. Madeline Hills is there

:25:18. > :25:30.with Ghribi. We will see some quick times. But looking in world terms,

:25:31. > :25:37.nine minutes has been beaten this year. We have two strong Americans

:25:38. > :25:50.here, including Stephanie Garcia in the leading bunch, a world finalist

:25:51. > :25:53.from last year. Madeline Hills, we mentioned her credentials, Stephanie

:25:54. > :25:59.Garcia, opening up a gap to the rest. The pacemaker's job is

:26:00. > :26:04.completed. Ghribi, the Olympic champion, having received that

:26:05. > :26:08.medal. Madeline Hills in second, running strongly recently. A good

:26:09. > :26:13.performance over 1500 metres, a great indicator for the 3000 metres

:26:14. > :26:23.steeplechase. Ghribi is now setting off to pound them into the dust.

:26:24. > :26:28.Running hard. Occasionally you see athletes go over the water jump

:26:29. > :26:34.without touching the barrier. Interestingly, more conventional

:26:35. > :26:42.all-round. One of the women trying to close the gap is Purity Kirui,

:26:43. > :26:56.only fifth in the Kenyan trials so not going to the Olympics. Aisha

:26:57. > :27:04.Praught is going though. The bar is at four metres 62. This is the

:27:05. > :27:10.second attempt. That was a good effort from Bradshaw. Jumping well

:27:11. > :27:19.in Monaco recently, a season 's best of 4.6 five. Whacked it on the way

:27:20. > :27:24.up. Sixth in the Olympics here four years ago, seventh here last year in

:27:25. > :27:28.the World Championships. Bradshaw at 4.62 has one more chance to stay in

:27:29. > :27:38.the competition. That was the pole vault. The couple of leaders in the

:27:39. > :27:44.steeple chase, Shalaya Kipp had a tumble at one of the hurdles, she's

:27:45. > :27:50.slipped back. Madeline Hills beginning to lose a bit of contact.

:27:51. > :27:57.Purity Kirui trying to make you alongside Aisha Praught. The quality

:27:58. > :28:02.athletes in this field. Ghribi was denied a gold medal here last year,

:28:03. > :28:08.and would like to seal confirmation of that gold medals she got by

:28:09. > :28:18.winning here at the Anniversary Games. These three are clear. In the

:28:19. > :28:22.background we can see Purity Kirui, perhaps as Madeline Hills in her

:28:23. > :28:30.sights. Ghribi stretching down the home straight. Sorry, the back

:28:31. > :28:34.straight. The crowd having a great afternoon. Great atmosphere.

:28:35. > :28:38.Fantastic crowds last night, some good performances last night and

:28:39. > :28:45.today. Great to see Katarina Johnson-Thompson and Jessica Ennis

:28:46. > :28:49.performing. Water jump on the back straight. Ghribi, Garcia from

:28:50. > :28:54.America running well. Over the barrier. It will be interesting as

:28:55. > :28:58.we watch Purity Kirui, the Kenyan, not touching the barrier, just going

:28:59. > :29:04.straight over. Some of these athletes are brilliant technicians

:29:05. > :29:10.and others are just good runners. Ghribi looking strong. Coming into

:29:11. > :29:15.the home straight, two laps to go. Four years ago she was in this

:29:16. > :29:19.position. Unfortunately there was a Russian athlete ahead of her,

:29:20. > :29:24.dominant in that race, but Ghribi eventually got just rewards with the

:29:25. > :29:28.gold medal given to her recently. Lennie Waite stepping aside, not

:29:29. > :29:32.finishing here. Not ideal preparation is going to Rio. Rosie

:29:33. > :29:38.Clarke is a long way down the field. The race seems to be between these

:29:39. > :29:46.two. The gap is the same distance between Olympic champion Habiba

:29:47. > :29:54.Ghribi, the current limbic champion. -- Olympic champion. I think Garcia

:29:55. > :30:00.is beginning to close a little bit on Ghribi. It we might get a race

:30:01. > :30:05.into the water jump, the penultimate water jump. Ghribi is successfully

:30:06. > :30:11.over. Garcia struggling a bit, using the barrier. Now into the home

:30:12. > :30:15.straight. One lap to go for Ghribi, the Olympic champion, the first

:30:16. > :30:26.female Tunisia athlete to win an Olympic gold medal.

:30:27. > :30:33.Garcia now, they hear the bell. Ghribi is stretching out. It would

:30:34. > :30:41.be nice for her to keep it going, keep the gap going, and enjoy the

:30:42. > :30:45.last lap of this competition. She could not enjoy it in the Olympic

:30:46. > :30:49.Games because she had an athlete ahead of her. Still working hard and

:30:50. > :30:56.still a competitive race. She looks like she is stepping into it. Now

:30:57. > :31:06.the Olympic champion, Ghribi, from Tunisia. The gap opens up and you

:31:07. > :31:13.can see the pain on her face. She dips her head and drives on over the

:31:14. > :31:23.barrier. It is purity Kirui in a very good battle in third place.

:31:24. > :31:36.Garcia startles and -- staters at the barrier. Habiba Ghribi was

:31:37. > :31:43.denied four years ago in this very stadium. She has the gold medal now

:31:44. > :31:51.and she has victory here today in the Anniversary Games. It is a good

:31:52. > :31:59.season best for Ghribi. She's shows form going ahead to Rio. -- she

:32:00. > :32:04.shows. The American, despite the fall, in fifth place. You can see

:32:05. > :32:13.the effort after that fall. A very good validation for her entry in the

:32:14. > :32:17.Olympics. Having got a medal last month in a ceremony in Tunisia, she

:32:18. > :32:25.has victory here today and a well deserved one. A well deserved

:32:26. > :32:29.victory. She has worked hard for it. Into the finishing straight in the

:32:30. > :32:37.Olympic Stadium. I imagine she was made pleased to take a silver medal.

:32:38. > :32:42.There was a banning order on the champion and she now enjoys the

:32:43. > :32:48.moment. Coming home and things are getting better. She is running

:32:49. > :32:51.better already this year. Ghribi of Tunisia comes home with a good

:32:52. > :32:56.victory. A weak field but she will be happy to win a cost of you can't

:32:57. > :33:00.do a thing other than the people around you. A bit of an injury

:33:01. > :33:08.problem for Lenny Wade. You'll have to see what happens with the British

:33:09. > :33:14.representative to see how she recovers and gets ready for Rio. --

:33:15. > :33:23.Lennie Waite. Perfect conditions for the pole vault. She has to go clear

:33:24. > :33:30.this time. She got over but it was on the way down that she knocked it

:33:31. > :33:37.off. Disappointment for her. She has cleared high this year. Looking in

:33:38. > :33:43.good shape. Let's have a look at this. She makes really good shapes

:33:44. > :33:48.on the way up. She keeps her width really nicely. The upright is in the

:33:49. > :33:57.wrong position. She is coming down on it. Adjustments to be made

:33:58. > :34:06.technically. A failure, a bedtime failure. Game over for Holly

:34:07. > :34:16.Bradshaw. Not happy that she has time to make amends. Next up on the

:34:17. > :34:22.track, the 110 metre hurdles final. Colin is here to have a little look

:34:23. > :34:27.further in slightly more detail at his performance. How can he improve

:34:28. > :34:34.on that as he heads into the final? Andrew has a ready done a fantastic

:34:35. > :34:37.job this season. He has established himself clearly as the British

:34:38. > :34:41.number one. In this race, it would be really important for him. He lost

:34:42. > :34:45.his former little bit in the European Championships. He pulled

:34:46. > :34:51.out because he had cramps. Against the current Olympic champion and it

:34:52. > :34:54.is absolutely amazing. He gets out strong and stamped his authority

:34:55. > :34:59.very early on in the field and pulled away from them. Look at that

:35:00. > :35:04.for a winning margin in a world-class field! We can criticise

:35:05. > :35:08.some of the bits and bobs that are important. He clips that hurdle

:35:09. > :35:15.because he is very fast on top of it. The biggest improvement is he

:35:16. > :35:21.has managed to control that speed. He puts his foot down once again for

:35:22. > :35:26.the final and runs even faster than the 13.19, a season best and a

:35:27. > :35:30.personal best. He is really pleased about that needs to regain and focus

:35:31. > :35:36.again for the big race, the big competition. Let's contrast that

:35:37. > :35:42.with French athlete. European champion, he has done it. He has run

:35:43. > :35:47.very quickly indoors and now he is up against it to qualify and be

:35:48. > :35:54.dominant. He is very long stride it into the first barrier. He sets

:35:55. > :35:58.itself up nicely. Same problems as Andrew. They get quick to the

:35:59. > :36:02.barrier and they get on top of them. When you are tall and strong like

:36:03. > :36:08.these guys, you can create a problem and you need a sense of control. As

:36:09. > :36:11.you run more and more, ultimately with more technique behind you, you

:36:12. > :36:16.manage to control it much better. This will be a red-hot race. This

:36:17. > :36:24.young man has a lot to prove. He is European champion. Andrew is on home

:36:25. > :36:30.turf. In my opinion, he will -- it will be one hell of a race and I am

:36:31. > :36:35.looking forward to it. It is probably one of the most difficult

:36:36. > :36:39.events to predict a winner. In major championships, so much happens. We

:36:40. > :36:43.saw that last year with the women in the 100 final. So much can go wrong.

:36:44. > :36:46.For Andrew, who has had injury problems in the past and shown so

:36:47. > :36:49.much promise as a youngster, what do the next few weeks have in store and

:36:50. > :36:54.how does he manage that through the tournament? One of the problems with

:36:55. > :36:58.Andrew is he struggles putting back-to-back training sessions

:36:59. > :37:02.together because of his that problem. Mark Arnold has done a

:37:03. > :37:07.really good job in working out how best we can prepare him under these

:37:08. > :37:12.circumstances. He has worked a lot on technique and insurance in funny

:37:13. > :37:19.and finicky ways. Giving him trigger words to think about so he can

:37:20. > :37:24.always what it is. I am just hearing Andrew will not start this final.

:37:25. > :37:27.That terribly endorses what you have said. We do not know what the

:37:28. > :37:33.problem is that we will find that hopefully down on the track why.

:37:34. > :37:36.What a missed opportunity for him. He will be furious, really annoyed.

:37:37. > :37:41.He is very fragile, as you know. It has taken him years to get into the

:37:42. > :37:44.position where he is. And only has had problems in the week and he has

:37:45. > :37:49.had to have medical treatments on that. I am really pleased he has

:37:50. > :37:56.managed to get a fast run under his belt before he gets on the plane to

:37:57. > :38:04.Europe. Let's hope it is not too serious. The hurdles are out. The

:38:05. > :38:08.final will take place without him. Still a very good field. Once again

:38:09. > :38:14.the predictability of this event shows itself. This is a red-hot

:38:15. > :38:18.race. At the jeopardy of having to clear ten hurdles smoothly and the

:38:19. > :38:24.race is anybody's. Thank you very much. What a great shame for Andrew

:38:25. > :38:29.to be at this stage out of the race we are trying to find out what has

:38:30. > :38:34.gone on with him in between an hour and 15 minutes ago. It could have

:38:35. > :38:38.been something after the first race or something that happened in the

:38:39. > :38:42.warm up. A positive thing, hopefully if it is not too serious and he did

:38:43. > :38:47.get a personal best under his belt but maybe this is a precaution. That

:38:48. > :38:50.would be the best case scenario. Running a personal best with no

:38:51. > :38:54.sense going out that and really irritating something that may be a

:38:55. > :39:02.minor issue. That is what you would hope for. We are hearing back in the

:39:03. > :39:06.warm up area, where we were earlier, there was all kinds of activity.

:39:07. > :39:13.Cramp. Simple as that. Cramp in the warm up. In this heat with athletes

:39:14. > :39:19.not being accustomed to run around and having to come back later, that

:39:20. > :39:23.is the uniqueness of these games, where you do have the qualification

:39:24. > :39:28.earlier in the day and come back a couple of hours later. They are used

:39:29. > :39:32.to having two hours to warm up and go through the entire situation.

:39:33. > :39:38.This is different having to come back an hour and a half later. That

:39:39. > :39:41.is exactly what happened at the European Championships. I was

:39:42. > :39:46.chatting to Andrew yesterday. He said they are very aware, Malcolm

:39:47. > :39:55.Arnold, and Andrew, getting into the start line in Rio. Optimum physical

:39:56. > :39:59.health. Why would he risk anything with all the problems he had had

:40:00. > :40:01.over the last three or four years that a pity for him and the and the

:40:02. > :40:23.cloud. -- the crowd. Temple macro is not going to Rio.

:40:24. > :40:35.Bascou is. He won the European title in Amsterdam. The lane next to him

:40:36. > :40:43.be empty so we will go lane seven. Douvaldis finished strongly to come

:40:44. > :40:51.through. From the US Virgin Islands, the US student champion. Manga was

:40:52. > :41:03.overlooked by French selectors, having finished third in the trials.

:41:04. > :41:11.Two Frenchman in this and two British athletes, would have been

:41:12. > :41:16.three had Andrew completed. Laurence Clark on the far side lane. That is

:41:17. > :41:20.the lane in which he finished fourth during the Olympic Games. He was

:41:21. > :41:24.right on the far side, if your memory is good enough for that. The

:41:25. > :41:55.American next to him. Well, we are going to lose another

:41:56. > :41:59.one. Omoregie It may well be Clarke. He knows, doesn't he? This weekend,

:42:00. > :42:04.we have seen some brilliant performances from British athletes.

:42:05. > :42:10.We have had British records. We have talked a lot about people being

:42:11. > :42:15.given a last chance to show. With Andrew not wanting to take the risk

:42:16. > :42:17.of competing in the final after that brilliant personal best was that

:42:18. > :42:22.this was a big chance for Clarke to give himself a real boost. A good

:42:23. > :42:27.opportunity and it may well have gone. He will be really annoyed if

:42:28. > :42:35.he ends up being disqualified. Just listening to hear what they are

:42:36. > :42:41.actually saying. Drifting over. Which card is it? It is a red card.

:42:42. > :42:46.He will be really frustrated. He will know it is a good opportunity

:42:47. > :42:50.for him to run fast and get close to the 13.3 mark, which is what he

:42:51. > :42:53.would have wanted to take to the Olympic Games. That will get him

:42:54. > :43:01.through to the semifinals. You never know, raise your game that little

:43:02. > :43:11.extra you will get into the final. From three British athletes in this

:43:12. > :43:15.final, we are down to one macro. Bascou, the favourite. I am

:43:16. > :43:22.wondering if he can relax a little bit now that he does not have the

:43:23. > :43:35.pressure of Andrew next to him. A great opportunity for the

:43:36. > :43:41.20-year-old from Pembroke. Outside of the qualifying windows sadly for

:43:42. > :43:49.him. Bascou, 13.12, his new personal best. He ran very well in Monaco.

:43:50. > :44:05.It seems quite a while ago, a week ago. We

:44:06. > :44:26.Oh, goodness me! That is looking like Eton, according to this. That

:44:27. > :44:36.was closer and not as easy to spot. He knows. In the orange shorts in

:44:37. > :44:42.lane two. What is going on? I am surprised. There is usually much

:44:43. > :44:46.more disciplined than this. I have watched so many hurdle races over

:44:47. > :44:51.the years which have ended up with three or four macro in them. What

:44:52. > :44:56.time does it gets dark? Let's see. They need to gather themselves

:44:57. > :44:59.again. It is quite frustrating. Each of these hurdles, has a walking back

:45:00. > :45:04.to the start line, they would be thinking, the race will be over

:45:05. > :45:17.right now. They will be really in fuel you hated -- infuriating,

:45:18. > :45:24.because it develops tension. Watch him on the far side.

:45:25. > :45:35.There is confirmation. Jarret Eaton has gone. Three from the original

:45:36. > :45:39.nine, we are down to sit 's. Colin, if you run down there, get your

:45:40. > :45:45.spikes on quickly, you have a chance to get some Diamond League points,

:45:46. > :45:57.mate! Seventh place wouldn't be bad. I'm sure you wouldn't be seventh. We

:45:58. > :46:05.have lost lanes one, two and six. Gregor Traber of Germany, my rage in

:46:06. > :46:09.four, Bascou, the favourite is in Fife. Douvalidis, Eddie Lovett and

:46:10. > :46:25.Aurel Manga. Bascule gets away better than anyone

:46:26. > :46:34.else. Omoregie hits the first hurdle to put him off balance. We have lost

:46:35. > :46:45.Eddie Lovett. Bascule is well clear as expected. There was more drama at

:46:46. > :46:50.the start than at the end. Omoregie got off to a poor start, that upset

:46:51. > :47:00.his rhythm. A messy 110 hurdles, sadly. The time given out as 13.2

:47:01. > :47:03.zero. The German, Gregor Traber managed to come through for second

:47:04. > :47:09.place while many around him were struggling. Bascou out of the blocks

:47:10. > :47:16.well. Impressive into the first hurdle, which was Queen, the most

:47:17. > :47:21.important thing. You want to be able to accelerate to the top speed and

:47:22. > :47:25.then hold onto that speed as long as you can. Still clipping the

:47:26. > :47:32.barriers, which annoys me, I know he doesn't necessarily need to do. Next

:47:33. > :47:37.to him, David Omoregie, I think he was affected by the fast start of

:47:38. > :47:41.Bascou. The key thing is to keep your brain, keep your mind, when

:47:42. > :47:45.everything is going on around you. It's a technical event, and if you

:47:46. > :47:52.don't do the obstacles well, they will bite you back. His reaction

:47:53. > :48:03.time was not quite as good. You would be proud of that, 0.1 03. Only

:48:04. > :48:12.legal by 3000 's of a second. That's a fairy action time. I think that

:48:13. > :48:13.really puts you off, when you our a world-class athlete. Stamp your

:48:14. > :48:35.authority early. If they really want to torture

:48:36. > :48:38.themselves this evening, we hear Pozzi has gone for treatment. We

:48:39. > :48:42.don't know exactly what he's gone for treatment for. I'm delighted to

:48:43. > :48:47.say that Jenny Meadows has joined us in the studio. You have recently

:48:48. > :48:52.announced retirement, which we are perfectly at ease with. I am. I was

:48:53. > :48:56.saying that a lot of the elder statesmen in the team say

:48:57. > :49:04.congratulations on retirement. The younger ones say, we are really

:49:05. > :49:06.sorry about that. Is it because you couldn't do everything you could

:49:07. > :49:13.within your power? Exactly, I started this sport at seven years

:49:14. > :49:23.old, I'm now 35, a long career at 2080 is. I'm very grateful, I world

:49:24. > :49:28.bronze medal, running 1.57, I wish I could have won medals for longer, I

:49:29. > :49:37.was unfortunate with illness. We can see some career highlights just now.

:49:38. > :49:48.Jenny Meadows is going to win this one! Jenny Meadows gets their!

:49:49. > :49:54.Bronze medal for Jenny Meadows and a new personal best to boot. It's a

:49:55. > :49:59.dream come true. For all young athletes out there, never say never.

:50:00. > :50:08.Jenny Meadows gets the bronze. Jenny Meadows is going to win this one.

:50:09. > :50:15.Superb. Well done, fantastic. A little bit teary there, Jenny. When

:50:16. > :50:21.you see it like that, definitely. I've had some amazing highs. If you

:50:22. > :50:27.can finish your career remembering those, it makes the lows still worth

:50:28. > :50:30.it. Some of those lows were not in your control. It's very topical

:50:31. > :50:36.after the banning of the Russian athletes from Rio. We will talk to

:50:37. > :50:41.you after what we hope will be a great 800-metre race. Lynsey Sharp

:50:42. > :50:45.ran an impressive time in Monaco, warming up, looking to replicate

:50:46. > :50:51.that performance today. We can get out there for the women's 800 metres

:50:52. > :50:59.coming up shortly. Andrew Cotter is commentating on this one. Jenny

:51:00. > :51:16.Meadows, might profit from another medal after the world indoors of

:51:17. > :51:17.2010. The field here, the yield is dominated by Caster Semenya, but

:51:18. > :51:37.she's not here today. Kendra Chambers is the pacemaker for

:51:38. > :51:41.this one. Looking at 456 seconds. We will see how many choose to go with

:51:42. > :51:45.her. Lynsey Sharp is often a pacemaker in her own right, wants to

:51:46. > :51:49.get near the front and has run strongly this season. Silver in

:51:50. > :51:54.Glasgow on to the Commonwealth Games and Europeans in Zurich a couple of

:51:55. > :52:02.years ago. Oskan-Clarke, beating Lynsey Sharp to the UK title eight

:52:03. > :52:08.couple of months ago. As twice come below 1.5 nine. Molly Ludlow. The

:52:09. > :52:12.fastest American this year, just four hundredths of a second behind

:52:13. > :52:22.Williams who was third at the US trials, but has run two seconds

:52:23. > :52:31.quicker. Winny Chebet will be running. Chanelle Price, the world

:52:32. > :52:37.indoor champion in Poland a couple of years ago. Nothing below two

:52:38. > :52:45.minutes this season. Angela Petty, took the world junior games title

:52:46. > :52:48.last year. Alison Leonard, a lot of people know she wrote eloquently

:52:49. > :52:53.about the heartache of missing out on selection. Has something to prove

:52:54. > :52:59.here but is still to find a time under two minutes. Alexander Bell,

:53:00. > :53:03.the 22 rolled from Yorkshire. -- Alexandra Bell.

:53:04. > :53:15.We have talked about how dominant Castor cement yet is this year. But

:53:16. > :53:20.below that there are four, five, six athletes who could challenge for

:53:21. > :53:26.medals come the Olympics. -- Caster Semenya. Molly Ludlow is one of

:53:27. > :53:36.those, potentially a rival for Lynsey Sharp. I think Molly Ludlow

:53:37. > :53:41.ran very strongly in Monaco coming off the back of her heartache from

:53:42. > :53:47.the US trials, finishing just ahead of Lynsey Sharp who was very close

:53:48. > :54:02.to a personal best. They both ran in the 157s. A bit of a delay. Just

:54:03. > :54:09.settling in again. The women's 800 metres.

:54:10. > :54:19.The pacemaker, Kendra Chambers, trying to go through 400 metres in

:54:20. > :54:24.56 seconds. Lynsey Sharp has to step on the accelerator to get away from

:54:25. > :54:28.her. Oskan-Clarke is shadowing Lynsey Sharp at the moment with

:54:29. > :54:31.Molly Ludlow making an early move to tuck yourself in behind Kendra

:54:32. > :54:38.Chambers. We hope it will be a good race between sharp and Ludlow.

:54:39. > :54:46.Settling in behind the pacemakers. Way behind. Not much good asking the

:54:47. > :54:51.pacemaker to go out in 56 if nobody actually wants to do that. We saw

:54:52. > :54:55.Lynsey Sharp accelerate to get the position down the back straight to

:54:56. > :54:59.be able to control it and she immediately slowed it down after a

:55:00. > :55:03.bit of jostling. Molly didn't want any of that. She wants to push on.

:55:04. > :55:08.Effectively getting no help whatsoever from the pacemaker. The

:55:09. > :55:14.pacemaker goes through in watching was asked to do, 56 seconds, but

:55:15. > :55:18.nobody going with her. Ludlow, Oskan-Clarke and Lynsey Sharp tucked

:55:19. > :55:22.in behind with Angela Petty moving through and Alison Leonard a couple

:55:23. > :55:27.of places further back ahead of Alexandra Bell. Ludlow beginning to

:55:28. > :55:31.take it on. We are seeing a bit of a British battle. Lynsey Sharp wants

:55:32. > :55:35.to finish ahead of Oskan-Clarke and the other way round. And then

:55:36. > :55:39.Alexandra Bell would like to get in amongst it as well. It's a good race

:55:40. > :55:45.with Ludlow wanting to make it a harder run. The Diamond League in

:55:46. > :55:51.London, an interesting event developing. Oskan-Clarke begins to

:55:52. > :55:58.close with Lynsey Sharp there as well. Angela Petty trying to make a

:55:59. > :56:04.move. Ludlow is there to be hunted down. Molly Ludlow hanging on for

:56:05. > :56:11.now but Shelayna Oskan-Clarke has done it again, taking it just ahead.

:56:12. > :56:15.Just below two minutes. I think Lynsey Sharp came through to take

:56:16. > :56:20.Ludlow at the line, but Shelayna Oskan-Clarke loves the big occasion.

:56:21. > :56:24.She showed it at Beijing last year and has gone below two minutes once

:56:25. > :56:31.again. For the first time this season, just in time for Rio,

:56:32. > :56:34.peaking. The big thing you can say about Oskan-Clarke, I don't think

:56:35. > :56:39.she realises yet how fast she can go and how much she has in the tank in

:56:40. > :56:44.the closing stages. If we look back at the finishing straight, it was

:56:45. > :56:50.when Lynsey Sharp moved wide to challenge that Oskan-Clarke dug deep

:56:51. > :56:55.again and was able to find reserves. She was much closer to Molly Ludlow

:56:56. > :57:01.and it was only in those closing stages she realised she could reel

:57:02. > :57:07.her in. The British duo are perfectly placed in the last couple

:57:08. > :57:11.of hundred metres. It's when Lynsey Sharp moves wives to try to

:57:12. > :57:15.challenge for the victory to reel in Molly Ludlow, like she did in

:57:16. > :57:20.Monaco, Oskan-Clarke realises she has more than she thought she had.

:57:21. > :57:29.She realises she's closing on Ludlow and can just get there. Just getting

:57:30. > :57:35.ahead as she crosses the line. Does Lynsey Sharp move into second?

:57:36. > :57:39.Possibly ahead of Molly Ludlow. You can see the effort in the faces of

:57:40. > :57:43.both Lynsey Sharp and Shelayna Oskan-Clarke. They've had good

:57:44. > :57:49.battles so far and I think they will have more in Rio. Both in good

:57:50. > :57:51.shape. Oskan-Clarke taking the victory in a time under two minutes

:57:52. > :58:18.for the first time this season. The scenes outside the stadium. It's

:58:19. > :58:23.been a beautiful day here in the east of London. We are just over 20

:58:24. > :58:28.minutes away from Mo Farah's time on the track. His first competitive

:58:29. > :58:33.5000 metres this year. This isn't just him saying goodbye to the crowd

:58:34. > :58:38.before Rio, he will want to put down a marker, get a quick time against a

:58:39. > :58:44.strong field. Jenny Meadows is still with us in the studio. Michael here

:58:45. > :58:55.as well. We enjoyed that eight in metres, Oskan-Clarke with her first

:58:56. > :58:59.sub two-minute time. This season. The real guts she showed there. I

:59:00. > :59:03.thought Lynsey Sharp was just going to get past her towards the end but

:59:04. > :59:08.she showed determination on her face, the biggest win of her career.

:59:09. > :59:13.She very much deserves it. They will both be hoping to emulate the kind

:59:14. > :59:20.of finishes you showed us in your career when they get to Rio. Paula

:59:21. > :59:24.is here as well. The thing we discussed yesterday, and we can't

:59:25. > :59:27.ignore it, because you have been so outspoken about drug cheats and a

:59:28. > :59:32.clean sport, how many times you could have been higher up the

:59:33. > :59:35.rostrum if it were not for suspicious Russian performances. At

:59:36. > :59:39.the time when you are in the moment you try not to think about it too

:59:40. > :59:43.much. Sometimes you have suspicions but try to do your best regardless.

:59:44. > :59:50.I have been really impressed with the IAAF and their stance, but in

:59:51. > :59:55.the blanket ban on the Russian athletic team, and that gives a lot

:59:56. > :00:00.of the right message going forward, we will not accept this behaviour.

:00:01. > :00:07.It's great the IAAF has taken that stance. One of the things we alluded

:00:08. > :00:11.to yesterday was, we talk about the athletes who have cheated, but

:00:12. > :00:15.little thought is given to the athletes who finish fourth, or

:00:16. > :00:19.third, missing out on silver. It's so much deeper than that, it's the

:00:20. > :00:23.athletes who don't qualify for the final, and then the final would have

:00:24. > :00:28.been a totally different race if it wasn't run or lead out in the way we

:00:29. > :00:32.have seen, by people who have since been found to be cheating. It

:00:33. > :00:36.changes the make-up of the race. You can't simply reallocate the medals,

:00:37. > :00:41.because it's not as as that, it would have changed the way the race

:00:42. > :00:47.was run. Michael, I'm sure you would want to reinforce what we said

:00:48. > :00:52.yesterday about this ban. You have to send a strong message, make

:00:53. > :00:57.difficult choices at times like this that threaten to destroy the

:00:58. > :01:00.credibility of the sport. When you make those difficult decisions,

:01:01. > :01:05.everybody will not be happy. Somebody will get hurt. It's about

:01:06. > :01:09.protecting clean athletes. If you are about protecting clean athletes,

:01:10. > :01:13.you must look after the victims, those who have been clean, and how

:01:14. > :01:18.they have been affected over the years by these situations. We saw

:01:19. > :01:25.the athlete from Tunisia in that 3000 steeplechase race. All the

:01:26. > :01:29.races she would have won, the gold medals she has got subsequent to the

:01:30. > :01:32.championships. She never got that opportunity. I know first hand,

:01:33. > :01:36.there is nothing better than standing on the podium and receiving

:01:37. > :01:39.the medal. They never got that opportunity.

:01:40. > :01:49.Best of luck. Any idea what you're to do? Nothing for a little while.

:01:50. > :01:53.Whatever I do will have to be something that fills me with lots of

:01:54. > :01:59.adrenaline. It is hard to replace the moments you get on the track.

:02:00. > :02:08.Another area which will potentially cause confrontation is Caster

:02:09. > :02:16.Semenya. He/she is head and shoulders above the rest of the

:02:17. > :02:23.field .- is when she head. She is in a race with her hormonal balance.

:02:24. > :02:34.There will still be? Is surrounding her performances. It is so complex.

:02:35. > :02:38.We have seen her dominance. With the other girls trying to get in there,

:02:39. > :02:45.it should not just be about Caster Semenya. She is not a cheat. She has

:02:46. > :02:49.levels of testosterone, yes, that are higher, and that probably should

:02:50. > :02:53.not be public and should not be discussed in that way. It is very

:02:54. > :02:58.helpful to her. It is a really difficult subject. On the same

:02:59. > :03:01.scale, other women's with lower levels of testosterone are allowed

:03:02. > :03:05.to compete and never gets to that level. It has to be discussed. I do

:03:06. > :03:13.not know if there is a fair solution in there. Jenny, the best of luck,

:03:14. > :03:19.whatever it is you are doing. We will speak to you soon, I hope. Back

:03:20. > :03:26.down on the track and we have the women's 200-metre final coming up,

:03:27. > :03:32.which is loaded with talent. It is Daphne Schippers, who all eyes will

:03:33. > :03:39.be on. She goes in lane six. She is one of the world's stars of

:03:40. > :03:51.athletics, after a superb year last year. Particularly last season when

:03:52. > :03:57.she won a world title in this event. She ran the fastest time ever for

:03:58. > :04:02.this distance. Outside her Kimberly Hyacinthe of Canada, yet to break 23

:04:03. > :04:07.seconds this year. Then Jodie Williams. She has been talking about

:04:08. > :04:11.changes she made was that she has been in Arizona over the winter,

:04:12. > :04:17.really stripping things back. Delighted to be a representative in

:04:18. > :04:25.this event in Rio. Not quite as fast as she ran in 2014 but getting

:04:26. > :04:31.there. Tiffani Tan said that as a Townsend in seven and then Dafne

:04:32. > :04:37.Schippers the world champion in this event. I am sure she is eager to

:04:38. > :04:49.produce something for this crowd in the Olympic Stadium. Jeneba Tarmoh

:04:50. > :04:59.made the UK trials but was only eighth. Atkins, another top class

:05:00. > :05:04.runner. Kay Lynn Whitney was announced onto the stage. She is

:05:05. > :05:21.still a junior, only 18 years of age. A great talent Cheers. Solomon

:05:22. > :05:28.at the other end of her career, at the age of 30. Big races for Jodie

:05:29. > :05:34.Williams out in lane eight. A chance to test yourself against a pretty

:05:35. > :05:37.good field. Here, the women who most people in athletics think will win

:05:38. > :05:47.this Olympic title in this event. Can she do that? A lot of talk, I

:05:48. > :05:52.was chatting to her on Thursday thought she was asked last week in

:05:53. > :05:56.Monaco, is this your best event? She said, I am pretty good at the 100th.

:05:57. > :06:02.She has worked a lot on her start but always that bit of room for

:06:03. > :06:10.error in the 200. Dafne Schippers in lane six.

:06:11. > :06:22.A clean start this time for the women. Jodie Williams has got way

:06:23. > :06:27.pretty well in lane eight. Between Townsend is trying to chase down as

:06:28. > :06:30.well. Look at Dafne Schippers pulling away. Atkins is coming

:06:31. > :06:39.through now. Look at the Dutchwoman go extra measure mark she wins this

:06:40. > :06:46.by a long way. -- go! It is like she has another year to go into with 50

:06:47. > :06:50.to go. A strong bend. Came into the straight with the other competitors

:06:51. > :06:54.within two or three metres. After that, she moves away from remember

:06:55. > :06:58.how she won the world title last year but she kicked through so late.

:06:59. > :07:03.Only got into the lead in the last ten metres. She is so strong in the

:07:04. > :07:09.latter part of the race. 22.13, she is going to be with the band that.

:07:10. > :07:20.She has already been quicker this year.

:07:21. > :07:27.She is very strong. She is creating an aura around her. If you come

:07:28. > :07:31.within striking distance of Dafne Schippers, the likelihood is she

:07:32. > :07:43.will read past two. Nice, controlled bend. -- breeze past you. She comes

:07:44. > :07:47.off the bend and it is controlled and well-balanced. She eases herself

:07:48. > :07:55.down the home straight. It is a world-class field and she eases her

:07:56. > :07:59.way through. It must be frustrating for these athletes to see how

:08:00. > :08:08.controlled Cheers and ultimately how fast you can go. If you drew a line

:08:09. > :08:14.from the waist up, she looks so relaxed. A lot of power but it is

:08:15. > :08:20.relaxed power. She almost looks to me as if she is holding a little bit

:08:21. > :08:25.back. If you look at that, she is a powerful lady. It looks so easy.

:08:26. > :08:30.That will always be the key in sprinting. You do not want to create

:08:31. > :08:35.tension in the shoulders. Especially when you are tired so you can hold

:08:36. > :08:39.your form. If people around you do not do that, the likelihood is you

:08:40. > :08:47.will come through and breeze past and take the races. It was not

:08:48. > :08:53.superfast. A bit of a breeze in the home straight. 22.13, half a second,

:08:54. > :09:02.a big distance the other athletes were behind her. A season best for

:09:03. > :09:07.Townsend. Jodie Williams in fifth place with 22.90 nine. Dafne

:09:08. > :09:14.Schippers, you have been watching the replay. Into a headwind, what

:09:15. > :09:21.are your reflections? I am happy for now. I wanted to win the race. A bit

:09:22. > :09:24.of discussion in the studio. What do you think is your best distance

:09:25. > :09:32.quest much do you feel as comfortable over the 100 as you are

:09:33. > :09:40.over the 200? My start in the 100 is better than it was. The 100 came

:09:41. > :09:44.closer than it was before. Are you comfortable? The performances you

:09:45. > :09:50.have produced so far this season over the 100 and the 200, you'll be

:09:51. > :09:57.favourite in the 200 and joint favourite maybe in the 100. You with

:09:58. > :10:10.that? Never nervous. It is good for me. Thank you very much. A good shot

:10:11. > :10:17.of the Orbit. The Aquatic Centre buzzing from the main stadium at all

:10:18. > :10:21.happened four years ago. The anniversary games in full flow. The

:10:22. > :10:27.world indoor champion in second place at the moment. He is behind

:10:28. > :10:32.Kurt Roberts of the United States. Robert Snodgrass to Rio. He was

:10:33. > :10:43.unable to make the team, such is the state of the American team. --

:10:44. > :10:50.Roberts is not going to Rio. A big smile from the Kiwi. He likes it.

:10:51. > :10:57.Good rotation. Fast and agile. He nails that. A good balance. All the

:10:58. > :11:02.energy goes up into the shot and he is left standing. This will go into

:11:03. > :11:08.the lead and that is perfect for them a great example of rotational

:11:09. > :11:09.shot putting. A big season's best for Tom Walsh. He goes into the

:11:10. > :11:30.lead. The men's long jump. No Greg Rutherford. We wish him out

:11:31. > :11:41.on his final preparation ahead of Rio. Gao is a contender. He is one

:11:42. > :11:45.of a few Chinese athletes who will be contenders in the long jump. I am

:11:46. > :11:50.really looking forward to that in Rio. Gao has been in fairly good

:11:51. > :11:51.shape, making the best of good conditions, as we have seen. He

:11:52. > :12:07.takes the lead. Nine women lying up that is not

:12:08. > :12:11.lining up for the final of the 100 metres. Here is a reminder of how

:12:12. > :12:23.they came through the heats to get there. Shelley and Fraser-Pryce

:12:24. > :12:32.usually so quickly out. Very close. Desiree Henry tried to get back. Job

:12:33. > :12:36.done, through to the final. Dean Ashton Smith, there's the track

:12:37. > :12:47.where she set the British record. -- Deena Asha Smith.

:12:48. > :12:59.Look at her. She is looking, going, I can't believe it. Fraser-Pryce

:13:00. > :13:04.looking for her third Olympic gold in Rio. How will she do in the

:13:05. > :13:14.final? She has to show something a little bit more as well. In the

:13:15. > :13:22.grand scheme of things, there are seven women with better times in the

:13:23. > :13:24.world this year. It would be interesting if Dina Asher-Smith can

:13:25. > :13:39.get close to be quickest in the race. Akinosun is the reserve for

:13:40. > :13:51.the United States. Simone Facey, I would like to see her running in the

:13:52. > :14:01.200. She will represent Jamaica at Rio.

:14:02. > :14:16.Fraser-Pryce, 11.03 in the heats. 10.93 in the Jamaican Championships.

:14:17. > :14:27.11.03 the time the Trinidad and Tobago athlete got in the heats.

:14:28. > :14:33.Fastest of the qualifiers and a new personal best. Williams, third in

:14:34. > :14:40.the Jamaican Championships. She will be running the 100 in Rio. This

:14:41. > :14:45.entire line-up will be running in Rio. Desiree Henry did very well to

:14:46. > :14:54.come through a stacked heat as well to qualify. Dina Asher-Smith, as

:14:55. > :14:55.mentioned. She is in the 200 in Rio but testing herself over the shorter

:14:56. > :15:17.distance. The final introductions made.

:15:18. > :15:22.Fraser-Pryce still has it in the head, did she have it in her body?

:15:23. > :15:27.Eto injury has hampered her season. She won her heat. So much of the 100

:15:28. > :15:42.metres is psychological. Doesn't quite have the physical

:15:43. > :15:50.presence of Usain Bolt, but time for the final of the women's 100 metres.

:15:51. > :16:00.Cleanly away, good start by Fraser-Pryce. Ta Lou coming through.

:16:01. > :16:05.And it Ta Lou for the victory just ahead of Michelle-Lee Ahye. Below

:16:06. > :16:12.11.5 seconds again into the slightest of wind. A smile and

:16:13. > :16:17.embrace from Fraser-Pryce, but Fraser-Pryce was well beaten. She

:16:18. > :16:23.had the race, but just a lack of running in her legs told in the

:16:24. > :16:30.second half and Marie-Josee Ta Lou takes the victory. It's great to see

:16:31. > :16:36.somebody who breaks through well, does a good heat, into a headwind,

:16:37. > :16:42.remember. And to repeat with a stronger performance in the final.

:16:43. > :16:47.Personal-best yet again, 10.9 six. The most important thing, she worked

:16:48. > :16:52.well, held form and took the victory over another world-class field

:16:53. > :17:01.assembled in London. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce gets off well, not the

:17:02. > :17:07.rocket bullets start. But Ta Lou, just eased her way through, a good,

:17:08. > :17:10.strong performance and I like to see that. Always a good sign when you

:17:11. > :17:18.repeat a performance round after round. Asher-Smith slowly away close

:17:19. > :17:24.to the camera. She comes through for fourth place, finishing quickly. But

:17:25. > :17:32.so too was Marie-Josee Ta Lou. She takes the victory. You can see

:17:33. > :17:37.Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, a bit race rusty. We know that because of

:17:38. > :17:44.injury, she has not arrived here in her best shape, not long until the

:17:45. > :17:49.Olympics. Contrast that with Ta Lou, coming with personal bests time

:17:50. > :17:53.after time. She will arrive at the Olympic Games very confident. I can

:17:54. > :18:00.assure you the athletes waiting for her there will be at least two

:18:01. > :18:05.metres quicker. We are used to another runner being the standard

:18:06. > :18:06.bearer for the Ivory Coast, but Ta Lou U11s seconds, equalling a

:18:07. > :18:22.personal-best she set in the heats. Congratulations. Two personal-best

:18:23. > :18:27.today. To come back and do 10.96 again, you must be delighted with

:18:28. > :18:33.this heading to the Olympics. Yeah. I just want to thank God and all my

:18:34. > :18:43.family. They pray for me. I have come from an injury. Now I'm

:18:44. > :18:48.preparing and will go even better there. Seems you have the makings of

:18:49. > :18:58.a great quartet and some great battles to come. Both Ivory Coast

:18:59. > :19:04.runners performing well. Yeah! We will move onto Dina Asher-Smith.

:19:05. > :19:08.What's your assessment, it was OK? It was OK. I'm very happy to come

:19:09. > :19:14.through in fourth in that race when she was in amazing shape. Michelle

:19:15. > :19:18.just behind Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. I wanted a personal-best today.

:19:19. > :19:22.Silly headwinds today made it not possible but I was ultimately

:19:23. > :19:26.pleased to hold my own in a talented field. A few weeks to get ready for

:19:27. > :19:35.the big one. Thank you to both of you. STUDIO: The final race on the

:19:36. > :19:41.track is the next race, it's Mo Farah time. The 5000 metres coming

:19:42. > :19:46.up. The first competitive 5000 metres for Mo Farah this year. A big

:19:47. > :19:51.test in front of an adoring crowd, what a way to take confidence to

:19:52. > :19:56.Rio. Seems to be in as good a shape as ever. A good time and victory

:19:57. > :20:01.today would do nicely. Yes, it will be a good test for him. It would be

:20:02. > :20:06.an indicator of what he needs to work on between now and Rio. I'm

:20:07. > :20:12.sure that his coach, Salazar, back in the US, will be aware of the

:20:13. > :20:18.training, which has gone well this year, no injuries, hiccups or

:20:19. > :20:23.issues. He will have his eye on the Ethiopians and Kenyans, who will be

:20:24. > :20:27.watching him. I think as far as Mo Farah is concerned, he's one of

:20:28. > :20:31.those athletes who will be looking through to Rio. This is an

:20:32. > :20:38.opportunity for him to get a Farrar thousand in. But he will want to

:20:39. > :20:49.win, no doubt about it. -- get a 5000 in.

:20:50. > :20:58.We can head to the commentary team including Steve Cram and Paula

:20:59. > :21:02.Radcliffe. Mo never tries to replicate the tactics he will need

:21:03. > :21:05.in Rio, because he doesn't know what they will have in store for him. He

:21:06. > :21:12.has to run his own race and set his own limits today. You are right,

:21:13. > :21:15.it's difficult. You can't replicate a major championship race in

:21:16. > :21:21.distance running. I think he knows in his head that the 10,000 metres

:21:22. > :21:26.will probably be a hard run race at some point. They will not hang

:21:27. > :21:30.around so much. 5000 is a different story. The one thing Mo will want to

:21:31. > :21:36.make sure is that he does what he does best, the final 600 metres. We

:21:37. > :21:44.mentioned his 1500 in Monaco last week. He's he wants to be. The 5000,

:21:45. > :21:50.as ever, it's going to be a bit more difficult tactical way. It might be

:21:51. > :21:55.that come the final of the 5000, if he has had a hard 10,000 race, he

:21:56. > :21:58.has to come back from the physicality of that, but so will

:21:59. > :22:06.some of his main rivals. Lots to chat about during this. Paula and

:22:07. > :22:11.Brendan are with me. To be honest, this is not the strongest field Mo

:22:12. > :22:22.Farah has to face, but it has people like Edwin Soi who has beaten him in

:22:23. > :22:26.the past, it has great athletes like Bernard Lagat, who has it in his

:22:27. > :22:32.legs to run this. And one or two others will be looking to provide a

:22:33. > :22:40.test here. But that reception he receives is testimony to where he is

:22:41. > :22:45.held and the position he has within British athletics and indeed British

:22:46. > :22:50.sport. A huge hero. A welcome reception as ever for the

:22:51. > :22:57.41-year-old Bernard Lagat. Isaiah coach and Paul Koech. There's Edwin

:22:58. > :23:09.Soi, the man who has beaten Mo Farah over this distance, 5000 metres, the

:23:10. > :23:13.last man to do that in 2013. Andrew Butchart, the brilliant new Scottish

:23:14. > :23:24.record-holder. Tom Farrell will be representing in the 5000 metres in

:23:25. > :23:29.Rio. Rob Mullett as well, a chance for the British athletes after the

:23:30. > :23:40.10,000 on the steeplechase to have a last blow out before Rio.

:23:41. > :23:49.We have two pacemakers in this. Visit drone no and Maiyo. They have

:23:50. > :23:56.been asked a go at a decent lick. -- Vincent Rono. If they go at the pace

:23:57. > :24:01.set then it will be interesting to see who goes with him. He might end

:24:02. > :24:12.up on his own if he goes as hard as has been suggested. Paula, you have

:24:13. > :24:16.seen Mo recently. Your assessment, I know last week people were saying he

:24:17. > :24:21.was fifth in the 1500, running OK in a different type of race to that

:24:22. > :24:25.where he achieved the British record a couple of years ago. He's happy at

:24:26. > :24:31.the minute and training well. He's very and settled. The way I'd seen

:24:32. > :24:36.him in the training camp recently, he's back to the old Mo Farah. Very

:24:37. > :24:42.relaxed. He knows he's running well. He raced in Monaco, he enjoyed the

:24:43. > :24:46.race, he knew he was off the time, but the winning time was slower, and

:24:47. > :24:51.he knew it was a different race. He's itching to get out here and

:24:52. > :24:58.have a run. He knows the guys will bring it in Rio and he knows he's

:24:59. > :25:03.ready. Brendan, I'm tentative say Mo can't win, we know he can win, but

:25:04. > :25:08.we want to see him run fast and win. Mo Farah wants to win to make gold

:25:09. > :25:12.medals in Rio. That's his plan, that's what he's here for, to give

:25:13. > :25:17.himself a good work-out. Speaking to the pacemaker on the start line,

:25:18. > :25:21.telling him what he really wanted, never mind what the managers and

:25:22. > :25:26.agents want, it's what the athletes want from the pacemaker, and Mo was

:25:27. > :25:30.leaning on him, having a few words, and now he has a reasonable race.

:25:31. > :25:36.You know the preparation for this event, one 3,000-metre race, one

:25:37. > :25:41.10,000 metre, this will be his only 5,000-metre race, won 1500 metre

:25:42. > :25:46.race, and then the Olympic Games. That is classic preparation. The

:25:47. > :25:51.only has one thing on his mind, the Olympics. And why wouldn't you? He

:25:52. > :25:55.won two medals last time he was here. He's in his glory, his

:25:56. > :26:03.element, this is his home track. Great to see him here. A bit of pole

:26:04. > :26:24.vault in action. The Greece athlete. 4.80, looking good. The European

:26:25. > :26:28.Championships from Amsterdam recently, she goes clear. Very

:26:29. > :26:32.consistent this summer. And another great field event at the other end

:26:33. > :26:37.of the stadium, the men's shot put with Tom Walsh in front with 21.5

:26:38. > :26:45.four. Joe Kovacs is in pursuit and that is massive from Kovacs will

:26:46. > :26:50.stop the world leader, a good challenge, the world champion from

:26:51. > :26:56.last year. The big men on fire. Arguably the best field of athletes

:26:57. > :26:59.here in the Olympic Stadium, Olympic and world champions and world

:27:00. > :27:09.leaders. He nailed that, well be under 21 metres. Might even threaten

:27:10. > :27:15.the 22-metre mark. Back in the 5000, a strong pace being set. Going

:27:16. > :27:30.through the first kilometre. About 2.3 seven. -- two .37. Andrew

:27:31. > :27:35.Butchart has had a fantastic year breaking the 5,000-metre Scottish

:27:36. > :27:44.record, which went back to 1980. I think I was there that day. And then

:27:45. > :27:51.he broke the 3,000-metre record. Butchart running hard, superb year.

:27:52. > :27:56.In this race, hoping to drop his time a bit more. Ross Millington,

:27:57. > :28:03.Thomas Farrell as well. They are having a go. We talked about Mo

:28:04. > :28:08.being upfront with his training partner, Bashir Abdi, racing for

:28:09. > :28:13.Belgium. We had Andrew Butchart, Thomas Farrell and Ross Millington

:28:14. > :28:19.who grabbed his qualifying time in the nick of time over 10,000 metres

:28:20. > :28:22.and has been preparing well. Farrell and Butchart will make up the

:28:23. > :28:27.complete team, and it's a few years since we've had strong teams going

:28:28. > :28:32.in the distance events for Great Britain. A valid point. Full in the

:28:33. > :28:39.men and women, 5000 and 10,000 metre. That's exactly what we need

:28:40. > :28:43.to have. We have three men running the 5000 metres, two of them running

:28:44. > :28:53.the 10,000 metres. That man in the blue vest, striding down the back

:28:54. > :29:01.straight. The man being watched anxiously. Is he at his best, near

:29:02. > :29:05.his best? They are on time for around 30 minutes or possibly less.

:29:06. > :29:10.That makes for a good performance. The other athletes getting a chance

:29:11. > :29:17.here, and easy ride, getting towed around. A steady pace. That steady

:29:18. > :29:22.pace gives you a chance to run a personal best. They are getting

:29:23. > :29:27.chances. Great to see the stadium as full as it is. Great to see Mo Farah

:29:28. > :29:36.in full flow down the home straight. Seven laps to go in the men's 5000

:29:37. > :29:41.metres. Mo Farah's warm up test. This is still a pacemaker in front,

:29:42. > :29:43.Vincent Rollo. He has been asked to go to seven and a half laps. Working

:29:44. > :29:52.hard. Some of these men working right on

:29:53. > :29:58.the limit. I have noticed Bernard Lagat right back there, he hasn't

:29:59. > :30:04.run close to 30 minutes for a while so he will be fighting hard. That's

:30:05. > :30:07.the tactic for Mo, let's have a hard seven or eight laps, possibly easing

:30:08. > :30:12.off a bit in the fourth kilometre and then coming on hard again at the

:30:13. > :30:15.end. Mo Farah knows he's in great shape so can afford to run at this

:30:16. > :30:20.place and feel comfortable so he's asking questions of the others.

:30:21. > :30:25.That's why we are seeing gaps open up behind the lead watch row. Andrew

:30:26. > :30:32.Butchart is doing well at the moment, hanging onto the back,

:30:33. > :30:37.working hard and trying to hang on to Ryan Hill in front of him. A

:30:38. > :30:38.shame to see Thomas Farrell drop further back and Ross Millington

:30:39. > :31:02.working his way behind him. He is not the best canyons. They are

:31:03. > :31:13.keeping an eye on Mo Farah. -- Kenyans. That shot, Mo Farah in the

:31:14. > :31:19.blue. Isaiah Kiplangat Koech is tracking him. They are breaking away

:31:20. > :31:24.from the field. The reason they are breaking away from the field is they

:31:25. > :31:29.are going to run close to 30 minutes or under. Mo Farah in the position

:31:30. > :31:37.he wants to be, in the lead, alongside the pacemaker. They got

:31:38. > :31:43.through their in 7.50 two. Mo Farah now in his familiar plays in the

:31:44. > :31:55.Olympic Stadium. Stealing a few yards in this point. This is the one

:31:56. > :31:59.for Mo Farah. He is stretching and working, looking brilliant,

:32:00. > :32:03.absolutely fantastic. His 1500 metre race, the way that was around, tells

:32:04. > :32:09.me he is as good as he has ever been. He wants to be leaving this

:32:10. > :32:14.stadium today knowing he is almost as good as he has ever been. Watch

:32:15. > :32:20.carefully now to see if he is as good as he has ever been. Mo Farah

:32:21. > :32:28.easing himself forward. Keeping the pressure on. Sometimes he uses back

:32:29. > :32:37.at this point in the race. He is very familiar with Stephen Mokoka

:32:38. > :32:45.and he is pushing on. He has that freedom. They have given up at the

:32:46. > :32:50.front and have decided to have their own race. Mo Farah is free. He can

:32:51. > :32:56.run as hard and fast as he wants. It is down to him. He looks brilliant.

:32:57. > :33:09.Helix so relaxed. He is not under any pressure. -- he looks. He knows

:33:10. > :33:14.he has broken away. If Bernard Lagat was still with him, he might be able

:33:15. > :33:17.to challenge him but no one will challenge him today. He has great

:33:18. > :33:21.memories of this stadium but he knows he is in great shape for that

:33:22. > :33:30.this is a good sendoff for Rio for him. The crowd is loving this. I do

:33:31. > :33:33.not know how many of them were here in 2012 but probably a good view.

:33:34. > :33:39.They are familiar with the side of Mo Farah running on this track. He

:33:40. > :33:45.said, I love racing here. Why wouldn't you after what happened to

:33:46. > :33:49.him in 2012? The important thing, we are all making the point this sends

:33:50. > :34:00.a message out to everyone else as well. He is looking so comfortable,

:34:01. > :34:05.running sub 13 pace. Mo Farah running at ease and running

:34:06. > :34:11.comfortably. A beautiful shot down the back straight. That is a

:34:12. > :34:17.beautiful shot. At the end of the day, he has 1000 metres remaining.

:34:18. > :34:21.10.29 as he goes through there. This is a test of strength for Mo Farah.

:34:22. > :34:29.He's putting himself into a position now. It is not about his speed or

:34:30. > :34:35.how much training he has done, it is about the leg speed we know he has

:34:36. > :34:43.got. He is running comfortably, running at ease. With two laps to

:34:44. > :34:52.go, he has no auto that if all stop he has two dig deep and work hard.

:34:53. > :35:01.This is where it is hurting. He is prepared to work and graft. Whatever

:35:02. > :35:06.he has gained in this sport has been because of his effort got his

:35:07. > :35:12.sacrifices, the way he has applied to sell. He is in full flow. He is

:35:13. > :35:20.tiring a bit. The last couple of laps were the fastest of the race.

:35:21. > :35:25.He is pulling away from them. Mo Farah is showing them, not only am I

:35:26. > :35:34.fast on the last lap, I am strong in the middle. Helix really strong. I

:35:35. > :35:39.think he would like to go under 13 minutes but what is important is to

:35:40. > :35:46.dominate the race and to feel good. The crowd in front of us are rising

:35:47. > :35:50.to their feet. One macro lap to go. He has broken 13 minutes on three

:35:51. > :35:57.occasions in his career. He has not done it on this track before. Mo

:35:58. > :36:07.Farah had an opportunity to dip under that magical mark and stretch

:36:08. > :36:11.away. Mo Farah, just like it was in 2012 with the crowd cheering him on.

:36:12. > :36:20.He is working hard on going extremely fast. This is an insurance

:36:21. > :36:30.race for Mo Farah. He needs to find something extra. -- insurance. He

:36:31. > :36:35.has the race one. He is stretching away. He is fighting hard and

:36:36. > :36:42.watching the clock. Mo Farah coming to the line. He will win big 5000

:36:43. > :36:56.metres and in under 30 minutes. -- the 5000 metres. We had to buy up on

:36:57. > :37:08.the track from Mo Farah. -- fire on the track. Mo Farah he knew he had a

:37:09. > :37:13.chance and he had to run a hard last lap. Bouncing off the track and

:37:14. > :37:19.looking good and strong, looking quick. A world leading time over the

:37:20. > :37:29.5000 metres. His first serious guy his only proper 5000 of the year, of

:37:30. > :37:35.course, before he heads to Rio. -- his first serious, his only proper

:37:36. > :37:42.5000 of the year. He has run a very good 3000 metres and a fast 1500

:37:43. > :37:48.metres. He has the perfect set. Now we need to see him trying to do what

:37:49. > :37:54.he did here four years ago with two gold medals. This crowd are cheering

:37:55. > :38:00.him on foot of it is a great moment for Mo Farah. He is loving this. --

:38:01. > :38:07.cheering him on. He is loving these people supporting him. He is going

:38:08. > :38:15.off to Rio in a few weeks' time. There he goes, looking over his

:38:16. > :38:19.shoulder. This was an endurance test. He was showing he has stamina

:38:20. > :38:24.as well as speed. You all know about my speed, I will do mistreat my

:38:25. > :38:34.stamina. He has run himself into the favourite position for the Olympic

:38:35. > :38:39.Games. -- I will show you my stamina. His favourite place in the

:38:40. > :38:44.world, in the home straight, on his own, under 13 minutes for 5000

:38:45. > :38:48.metres. These are great times for Mo Farah or as he goes off to Rio to

:38:49. > :38:54.try to do what any British athlete has done before with three Olympic

:38:55. > :38:59.gold medals. They have tried before. Sebastien code tried and did not

:39:00. > :39:04.make the team. Daley Thompson finished fourth in the Olympic

:39:05. > :39:07.Games. Mo Farah is trying to make history by becoming the first

:39:08. > :39:11.British athlete to win three Olympic gold medals. I would not bet against

:39:12. > :39:17.him and he looked brilliant today. I have always been nervous about his

:39:18. > :39:31.endurance but that was that in abundance today. Well done! -- about

:39:32. > :39:37.his endurance. To front run and go under 13 minutes was breathtaking. I

:39:38. > :39:42.got amazing support from the crowd. I wanted to go for it. It was my

:39:43. > :39:49.last chance before Rio. I love this track. It has something for me. You

:39:50. > :39:56.know, not many athletes, during the Olympics, to do it in your hometown,

:39:57. > :40:00.it is amazing. With 600 to go, they stood in unison. A standing ovation

:40:01. > :40:05.or the way round the home straight and you have been captivated again

:40:06. > :40:08.just as four years ago. I want to thank God, thank everyone who

:40:09. > :40:14.supported me. Rio is just around the corner. Great to come and win it. A

:40:15. > :40:18.happy birthday to my daughter. I was here. I want to say to everyone who

:40:19. > :40:26.supported me along the way, hopefully I can do it at Rio. Say

:40:27. > :40:33.hello to my boy. You have raced sparingly this year but done it

:40:34. > :40:37.really well. You broke Dave's UK record over 3000 and you have done

:40:38. > :40:42.this over 5000. Do you feel this is the best prepared and the best form

:40:43. > :40:48.you have been in going in for the big double? Definitely. I am in good

:40:49. > :40:52.shape. I need to keep my feet on the ground and keep doing what I am

:40:53. > :40:58.doing. Two and a half weeks anything can happen. I need to stay patient

:40:59. > :41:02.and cool. You seem quite relaxed. Why wouldn't you be after a great

:41:03. > :41:05.performance like that? What will you deliver the next couple of weeks

:41:06. > :41:13.question not surely you will begin to take power. You have done some

:41:14. > :41:22.milage. -- what will you do over the next couple of weeks? I will be

:41:23. > :41:27.training with Charlie and Adam. The guys have been helping me out in

:41:28. > :41:33.training. I need to stay focused. We are back as a team and get ready for

:41:34. > :41:39.Rio. Another epic run in this fabulous stadium. Good luck in Rio.

:41:40. > :41:48.Thank you to everyone who supported me. Let's go! Well done. The

:41:49. > :41:56.official time 12.59.20 nine. I couldn't remember when two British

:41:57. > :42:00.athletes were first and second in a Diamond League 5000 metres which had

:42:01. > :42:10.Kenyan athletes and other athletes in. British athletes first and

:42:11. > :42:19.second in the 5000 metres. Wonderful! A fantastic way to finish

:42:20. > :42:26.two scintillating days of athletics at the Olympic Stadium. Mo Farah has

:42:27. > :42:41.won the 5000 metres. The countdown is on for Rio.

:42:42. > :42:58.Jessica Ennis-Hill is back on top of the world. He has just made history.

:42:59. > :43:15.Gold for Kenya. His 18th Olympic gold medal. World champions again.

:43:16. > :43:27.She has iced the cake in style. That is a huge jump. She crosses the line

:43:28. > :43:32.as world champion. Streaking away. I don't know about you. I am not sure

:43:33. > :43:41.how I will keep my excitement levels down in the next two weeks. Cannot

:43:42. > :43:46.wait. Coverage starts with the Countdown to Rio on the 5th of

:43:47. > :43:50.August. The opening ceremony little bit later that evening at 11:40pm

:43:51. > :43:55.for the plenty to keep you occupied that evening. I was be a fantastic

:43:56. > :44:02.opening ceremony. They know how to party in Rio, trust me. The man of

:44:03. > :44:07.the moment, who could have plenty to party about in the next few weeks,

:44:08. > :44:12.it is Mo Farah. With that kind of form, that thing you have to remind

:44:13. > :44:15.yourself, and a lot of people should, we should not take this for

:44:16. > :44:21.granted. That was not an exhibition run. It was not like the field was

:44:22. > :44:26.made up of people who are not going to the Olympics. There were plenty

:44:27. > :44:31.of people who are Rio bound that he has made things so effortless. That

:44:32. > :44:40.is right. You should never take things for granted. He demonstrated

:44:41. > :44:45.how flawless he is and how great his preparation is. That is the only

:44:46. > :44:54.thing he can do right now, get himself in great shape and ready to

:44:55. > :44:59.go. Sit in an ice bath. You may have heard the fireworks in the house.

:45:00. > :45:04.I'm not sure how effective fireworks are in the daytime but it is lovely

:45:05. > :45:10.to hear them anyway. To be in this era, we have someone with such

:45:11. > :45:15.greatness in his event like Mo Farah and Usain Bolt with a similar

:45:16. > :45:19.greatness and legend in the sport. It does not come along every day. We

:45:20. > :45:25.are in a very special period. We are. It is getting more challenging

:45:26. > :45:33.for both guys. It will be more challenging. Over the years he has

:45:34. > :45:36.dominated. The Kenyans trying to figure out what to do on a daily

:45:37. > :45:39.basis. Every day they are thinking about Mo Farah. They are

:45:40. > :45:44.strategising and coming up with plans. The same thing for Usain

:45:45. > :45:47.Bolt. Those guys are gunning for him and trying to catch one a little bit

:45:48. > :45:52.weak. It is becoming more challenging for him as he gets older

:45:53. > :45:57.and tries to stay healthy. We are at the end of that year and it is fun.

:45:58. > :46:01.A bit more competitive. We want to see Mo Farah win and Usain Bolt

:46:02. > :46:04.when. No one will give it to him and they will not be as dominant as they

:46:05. > :46:09.have been in the past. I am looking forward to Rio and looking forward

:46:10. > :46:10.to all of these guys trying to defend their championships, which

:46:11. > :46:22.won't be easy. He'll have tough competition in the

:46:23. > :46:29.10,000 metres. It has just occurred to me, Mo Farah, Greg Rutherford and

:46:30. > :46:36.Jessica Ennis-Hill have all had babies since 2012. The super

:46:37. > :46:40.Saturday heroes. Usain Bolt hasn't! Mo Farah, always mentioning his

:46:41. > :46:44.kids, he hates to be apart from them. It's a sacrifice to be apart

:46:45. > :46:49.from those he loves so much. He's very much in it, always brings his

:46:50. > :46:53.family in and he enjoys the support he gets from his family, which works

:46:54. > :46:58.for Mo Farah. For others it might not be so easy. It's something we

:46:59. > :47:05.should have asked Usain Bolt about the other day! You caught me off

:47:06. > :47:13.guard with that one, Usain Bolt not having kids. He's possibly concerned

:47:14. > :47:18.about the Zika virus! There's always time, I know you have his number.

:47:19. > :47:28.The British athletics performance of the day, Colin? It's a tough call.

:47:29. > :47:36.For me, I have to go with KJT. A busy weekend. To return today and

:47:37. > :47:44.winning the long jump with a season's best, 6.80 and more. This

:47:45. > :47:47.was last night. A lot of attention on Jess, but Johnson-Thompson

:47:48. > :47:50.focused on what she needed to do. Getting it right. That was

:47:51. > :48:00.yesterday's performance, brilliant to see. Having a look at what

:48:01. > :48:04.happens today, a nice build in the performance, steady in her jumping

:48:05. > :48:10.all the way through, lining up for the final jump. She goes down the

:48:11. > :48:15.runway, nice and controlled. She's a great long jumper. To return after a

:48:16. > :48:20.personal best and to jump this again and to win it was absolutely

:48:21. > :48:24.fantastic. That's why I took this one as my performance of the day.

:48:25. > :48:30.Have you been impressed with her, Michael? I was, she had to make

:48:31. > :48:35.solid days of competition. Number one British high jumper yesterday,

:48:36. > :48:38.number one British long jumper today, Shara Proctor, but

:48:39. > :48:45.Johnson-Thompson has beaten them both. She will take that to Rio and

:48:46. > :48:51.have a solid performance. I think she can and she's very well after

:48:52. > :48:57.this two great days to go to Rio is one of the favourites. Andrew Pozzi,

:48:58. > :49:00.a lot has been hoped from this young man as a young athlete with a

:49:01. > :49:06.promising start. He's realising it now. We saw a great performance from

:49:07. > :49:11.him but sadly didn't transfer it to the final. I'm very excited about

:49:12. > :49:15.him. I've seen him training and he has the physicality to be a good

:49:16. > :49:20.high hurdler. We need him to have a bit of luck. He was disappointed in

:49:21. > :49:26.the 2012 Olympics because he didn't arrive to the track in great shape.

:49:27. > :49:30.It's reversed this year. Excellent performance here. Balanced hurdling.

:49:31. > :49:34.Has to get used to running fast again because he had so many years

:49:35. > :49:40.of missed opportunities. Gets out of the blocks well, a fast sprinter,

:49:41. > :49:45.which people might not know, but as he ounces his way through the event,

:49:46. > :49:49.accelerating through. Some technical problems, but he's managing them

:49:50. > :49:54.better. I'm pleased he was rewarded with a personal best today. Cramp in

:49:55. > :49:58.his hamstring meant he missed the final, which was a shame. Are you

:49:59. > :50:03.worried about him getting through the rounds? It was the same problem

:50:04. > :50:11.that the Europeans. That can be a concern. You have to know that, so

:50:12. > :50:15.now he's experienced it twice he can deal with it. It's awful when it

:50:16. > :50:20.creeps up on you. He knows he suffers when the heat is on, so he

:50:21. > :50:27.will work on it. Dafne Schippers, the world champion winning

:50:28. > :50:31.200-metre. The women's event. She has no signs of slipping. She has

:50:32. > :50:38.picked up where she left off last year. Came here with the fastest

:50:39. > :50:42.time in the world. Not as impressive as we have seen her in the past on

:50:43. > :50:46.the bend, but this is where she shows her strength and power, able

:50:47. > :50:52.to pull away from a world-class field and do it very relaxed. She

:50:53. > :50:57.knows the heat will be on and the fire will be turned up in Rio, but

:50:58. > :51:01.this is a very impressive performance, probably the last race

:51:02. > :51:06.for her as well as she goes into Rio. She will be pleased with this

:51:07. > :51:09.performance and it bodes well for her 100 metres as well, because she

:51:10. > :51:13.has shown incredible speed and endurance. At the end she looked

:51:14. > :51:17.very relaxed, no sign of slowing down or fatigue. The performance of

:51:18. > :51:22.the weekend, difficult not to give it to a woman who produced a world

:51:23. > :51:26.record last night. After the disappointment of missing out on the

:51:27. > :51:33.US team for the Olympics. What mental strength from Keni Harrison?

:51:34. > :51:37.The right attitude, the correct preparation in the heat, and she let

:51:38. > :51:41.loose in the final, exploding out of the blocks and demonstrating to

:51:42. > :51:47.everybody, she is world number one and now she's the world record

:51:48. > :51:50.holder. We can bring in Brendan Foster and Paula Radcliffe who were

:51:51. > :51:55.in the commentary box. Two weeks to go until the start of the action at

:51:56. > :52:00.the Rio Olympics. The athletics the week after that. The IOC have big

:52:01. > :52:04.decisions to make and tomorrow they will make an announcement on whether

:52:05. > :52:08.or not they will ban all Russian sportspeople from the Olympic Games,

:52:09. > :52:15.not just athletes. Or they might leave it to federations. I think Seb

:52:16. > :52:19.Coe has demonstrated what a great job he's done so far by having the

:52:20. > :52:24.IAAF put the ban in for the Russian team because of what they found to

:52:25. > :52:27.be systemic cheating in an organised manner in that country. I'm pretty

:52:28. > :52:32.sure the same rule applies to the other sports in Russia. Now

:52:33. > :52:37.federations around the world need to take the lead from athletics and

:52:38. > :52:40.take the same decision. The IOC's credibility is on the line and I

:52:41. > :52:44.think they need to make the overall decision, pass it onto the overall

:52:45. > :52:51.governing bodies, which they should, but those bodies need to follow set

:52:52. > :52:55.rules. I agree. I think the IOC should take the lead and take it

:52:56. > :53:00.strongly but I fully expect them to pass it on to the individual

:53:01. > :53:03.Federation. We need to see ants is coming out of this, what was

:53:04. > :53:08.happening, whose names are on the lists, who was being covered up for

:53:09. > :53:11.in Russia across all sports, and that has to come out and then

:53:12. > :53:17.individual Federation 's need to take action at like athletics has

:53:18. > :53:20.done, they will not tolerate this in sport and take the action against

:53:21. > :53:25.any country in which they find systemic doping. Another issue that

:53:26. > :53:30.has been discussed massively, but will come out over the next couple

:53:31. > :53:34.of weeks. Stories from Sochi where Russian athletes were allowed to

:53:35. > :53:38.tamper with their samples at their own Winter Olympics, it's shocking

:53:39. > :53:43.this was left to the country and to not something the IOC should take

:53:44. > :53:47.more control over. Do we need more investment in drug testing at the

:53:48. > :53:53.Olympics, both winter and summer? It's not just the IOC, Wada have

:53:54. > :53:57.also let down clean athletes they are supposed to protect.

:53:58. > :54:04.Tamper-proof bottles are meant to be just that. The thing is, the IOC

:54:05. > :54:09.handover that responsibility to Wada, but it's damaging the brand of

:54:10. > :54:17.the Olympic Games, so is there a need for more investment from the

:54:18. > :54:21.IOC into Wada? There is more investment needed across the board

:54:22. > :54:25.into anti-doping. These bodies need to be independent, there can't be

:54:26. > :54:29.any level of government control, as we saw in Russia, and probably

:54:30. > :54:34.happens in other countries. Wada has to up its act as well so investment

:54:35. > :54:39.can go in, but you have to do the right things with that investment to

:54:40. > :54:42.move this forward. Thank you to Paula and Brendan. It's not great

:54:43. > :54:46.that we have to talk about these things with the excitement of the

:54:47. > :54:50.Olympics just two weeks away. I know you feel strongly that this is way

:54:51. > :54:54.too important to have the levels of investment it has at the moment and

:54:55. > :54:59.is something the IOC needs to work closely with Wada on this. It's

:55:00. > :55:05.true, it's not just about investment though, that's just one part, it's

:55:06. > :55:17.about responsibility. When the IOC passes responsibility on to Wada, or

:55:18. > :55:19.passes it on to the organising committee in Sochi, for example, the

:55:20. > :55:21.Russian organising committee to build and staff the laboratories and

:55:22. > :55:23.government testing, that's a mistake from the beginning. It's a ripe

:55:24. > :55:28.opportunity for corruption and politics so you want to take that

:55:29. > :55:33.away. The IOC are ultimately responsible. It's their event so you

:55:34. > :55:36.want to protect your brand and also protect the clean athletes, most

:55:37. > :55:43.importantly, and it's them who it's all about. Protect those athletes.

:55:44. > :55:48.Do you feel with the action the IAAF has taken, and potentially with the

:55:49. > :55:52.IOC tomorrow, people can go to the Olympic Games feeling confident that

:55:53. > :55:56.clean athletes are being protected? Certainly be governing bodies are

:55:57. > :56:01.trying their best. That is clear now. They are pushing towards a fair

:56:02. > :56:05.opportunity for athletes. With that in mind, yes, the athletes can feel

:56:06. > :56:11.a little more comfortable things are being done. Of course people are

:56:12. > :56:16.slipping through the net, but at least there is a driving factor to

:56:17. > :56:19.put purity on the line. The IAAF have quite rightly received

:56:20. > :56:24.criticism in a lot of areas in the last couple of years, but a lot of

:56:25. > :56:28.sports need to get their house in order and the IAAF and Seb Coe have

:56:29. > :56:33.taken a lead on this. They have done the right thing, but could possibly

:56:34. > :56:37.have done it a long time ago. Before we start patting the IAAF on the

:56:38. > :56:41.back, they let a lot of athletes pay them to get their tests wiped off

:56:42. > :56:50.the books and continuing to come Pete. Under previous regimes. Moving

:56:51. > :57:01.forwards from now, this needs more correct decisions to move in the

:57:02. > :57:05.right direction. The IOC should follow suit and individual

:57:06. > :57:08.federations also. They have to make difficult decisions. Somebody will

:57:09. > :57:12.probably be a victim of these decisions that are made, but what

:57:13. > :57:17.has to happen is those decisions have to be made in the interests of

:57:18. > :57:21.clean sport and messages have to be sent, and hopefully we will continue

:57:22. > :57:24.to see more of this. Our final minute, back to the sport. Keni

:57:25. > :57:29.Harrison out here with a world record. Will we see impressive

:57:30. > :57:34.performances on the track? The Olympic Games is magic and will

:57:35. > :57:38.create magic. And it helps to push athletes towards world records. It

:57:39. > :57:44.makes athletes perform at their best. It will be fantastic in Rio,

:57:45. > :57:47.this type of weather, a Fast Track, it's the Olympics everybody wants to

:57:48. > :57:51.see and I think we will have some amazing performances. Thank you for

:57:52. > :57:56.your company this weekend, the next time we will see you we will have

:57:57. > :58:00.the honour of bringing you the 31st Olympic Games from Rio. We look

:58:01. > :58:04.forward to some fantastic British performances as well as from

:58:05. > :58:09.athletes around the world. From all the fuss, goodbye. -- from all of
