:00:51. > :00:56.A few weeks ago registrar Flom announced its inner Pettini
:00:57. > :01:01.including Alistair Brownlee and his brother and then it is cycling got
:01:02. > :01:06.on the act this week. Now the attention turns to athletics, who
:01:07. > :01:12.will be the stars? Well, 40 days until the opening ceremony at the
:01:13. > :01:13.Olympics and it is welcome to the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham and
:01:14. > :01:55.the final day of the Olympic trials. It is hard to believe it is four
:01:56. > :01:59.years since we were here in 2012 but we are back and let me tell you the
:02:00. > :02:00.attention is every bit as big. The athletes signing in and these are
:02:01. > :02:11.very nervous mums. A just the final preparations as they
:02:12. > :02:19.get ready to come out into the stadium. As they come out to book
:02:20. > :02:26.their place on the plane. It was super Saturday four years ago. And
:02:27. > :02:35.we really expect the super Sunday athletics. Paula Radcliffe and Colin
:02:36. > :02:40.Jackson know all about competing, Jessica Ennis not here, Mo Farah not
:02:41. > :02:43.here either but nonetheless a real sense of anticipation. It is
:02:44. > :02:48.heightened even more because it is the Olympic trials as well as the
:02:49. > :02:51.British title. Some of these athletes will have been aiming for
:02:52. > :02:56.this since this appointment may be last time round and somewhere had
:02:57. > :03:01.just come into the focus the last year or less and be aiming to book
:03:02. > :03:07.their place. There will be some good racing. British titles up for grabs.
:03:08. > :03:11.All of us remember winning our very first British title and going back
:03:12. > :03:20.to your club and saying proudly that you are the British champion. And it
:03:21. > :03:24.is the Olympic trials as well. Let's have a look at the timetable, so
:03:25. > :03:31.much to look forward to. Pick out your favourites. This is the third
:03:32. > :03:33.day and will be showing highlights of the first two days. Just pick out
:03:34. > :03:48.your favourites. Building up to a great final last
:03:49. > :03:54.hour with the men's 200 metres finishing it off. What are you
:03:55. > :03:57.looking forward to most, Paula? Like you said some great races but the
:03:58. > :04:03.men's 800 will be exciting. What I like is the likes of Ben Greenwood,
:04:04. > :04:12.17 years old, snatching a place in the final. Against Anthony Whiteman,
:04:13. > :04:17.who has been here, I have lost count, seventh Olympic trials,
:04:18. > :04:26.44-year-old. That will be a great race. Unfortunately Jo Pavey is not
:04:27. > :04:32.here, she has chosen to chase the 10k in Holland. Eilish McColgan has
:04:33. > :04:38.switched distances and then we have Laura Whittle and Steph 12. Let's
:04:39. > :04:56.look at how athletes will get selected from the trials for Rio.
:04:57. > :05:08.In terms of flats, do you think that is reasonable. The important thing
:05:09. > :05:12.is you have clarity, you do not want any confusion. You want to know
:05:13. > :05:17.exactly what you have to do. With some of the events they already know
:05:18. > :05:23.what is at stake. Now we will focus on the women's 100 metres yesterday
:05:24. > :05:31.with Andrew Cotter and Steve Cram. COMMENTATOR: That is the line-up for
:05:32. > :05:45.the women's 100 metres. Dina Asher-Smith concentrating on the 200
:05:46. > :05:51.metres. Henry has been going well. Cleanly away, Asha Phillip out so
:05:52. > :05:56.quickly. Desiree Henry trying to come back. Asha Phillip a long way
:05:57. > :06:08.clear and she takes the victory. Into a slight wind. It was a big win
:06:09. > :06:11.Philip. Asha Phillip out in the lead and then it is a race for second and
:06:12. > :06:20.you are right, Desiree Henry tightening up as a 19-year-old and
:06:21. > :06:29.Nieta not even dipping, saying I have got second. I thought that was
:06:30. > :06:33.a little bit relaxed. Henry again dominating the heats and the
:06:34. > :06:39.semifinal but in the final, she might still go, it is up to the
:06:40. > :06:45.selectors, but the two guaranteed to go to Rio are Asha Phillip and
:06:46. > :06:54.Daryll Nieta. Decent season's best for Philip. She beat Asher-Smith
:06:55. > :07:01.indoors this year and she says it for the big moments. You delivered
:07:02. > :07:08.when it mattered most. Thank you, Rocky start the but I know how to
:07:09. > :07:13.compete at championships, I did not care where I came today, first or
:07:14. > :07:19.second, get on the plane to Rio. This is the one where I'm actually
:07:20. > :07:25.going. I am so happy. I saw your reaction, can you sum it up? I am
:07:26. > :07:31.overwhelmed, I did not expect to be in this position now. A lot of hard
:07:32. > :07:36.work and I am so happy. Are you ahead of schedule? Thies, it has
:07:37. > :07:44.always been there but I'm happy to do it. Both going to Rio. I will
:07:45. > :07:49.start crying. It is our dream, we work so hard through the year. The
:07:50. > :07:56.fact we have done it and got on the plane, I am so happy, she is so
:07:57. > :08:01.young, and the relay team is out of this world right now.
:08:02. > :08:05.Congratulations to you both. STUDIO: Two very excited young ladies and
:08:06. > :08:10.Asha Phillip just pulled out of the first event today, the 200-metre
:08:11. > :08:14.heats and Colin, we have Dina Asher-Smith going in this one and
:08:15. > :08:22.perhaps she is the one we are most excited about. Massive and through
:08:23. > :08:27.last year. She was superb in the major championships, the final in
:08:28. > :08:32.Beijing, phenomenal time. I am very excited about her potential. Good
:08:33. > :08:39.afternoon to Denise Lewis and Steve Cram. COMMENTATOR: Afternoon
:08:40. > :08:43.Jonathan, afternoon everybody. The sun shining, maybe a little rain
:08:44. > :08:55.later on and certainly a stiff breeze down the home straight. Dina
:08:56. > :09:01.Asher-Smith goes here in Lane 5. The qualification is fairly
:09:02. > :09:05.straightforward. The winner of each heat and four fastest losers go
:09:06. > :09:10.through to the final. A shame that Asha Phillip has only just pulled
:09:11. > :09:15.out. She decided not to double up because she went so well in the 100.
:09:16. > :09:21.That leaves it clear almost, three major contenders, Dina Asher-Smith
:09:22. > :09:28.in this one, Desiree Henry in Heat 3 and Jodie Williams in Heat 4. The
:09:29. > :09:32.likes of Bianca Williams, talking over the top of these girls as they
:09:33. > :09:41.are introduced, Bianca Williams perhaps one who might think she can
:09:42. > :09:46.rediscover some form from 2014 - 15. No worries for Dina Asher-Smith I
:09:47. > :09:51.would not thing. Her only 200 was in Stockholm in the wind and rain a
:09:52. > :10:07.week ago. She will be looking first of all just to qualify comfortably.
:10:08. > :10:13.Shannon Hylton shares the same coach as Dina.
:10:14. > :10:19.Made the decision not to run the hundred, alluding to that a couple
:10:20. > :10:24.of minutes ago, this is the only event she wants to contest in Rio.
:10:25. > :10:29.Of course the relay squad, places up for grabs in that one as well for
:10:30. > :10:41.all of the sprinters. Dina Asher-Smith in Lane 5. The winner,,
:10:42. > :10:45.fires ultimately. -- qualifies. Dina Asher-Smith gets a really good
:10:46. > :10:48.start. Hylton in Lane 3 moving through with her but Dina
:10:49. > :10:54.Asher-Smith already showing the class between her, the Gulf in class
:10:55. > :10:59.really between her and the others. Hylton doing well to try to hang on
:11:00. > :11:04.to higher. Enjoying the conditions down the home straight, backing off
:11:05. > :11:10.as she comes through in a fairly swift 22.96. That was effortless.
:11:11. > :11:15.Really good start. I do not know what you think, did knees, but
:11:16. > :11:20.sometimes you are concentrating, yes you can fact off five she give their
:11:21. > :11:26.have the fifth of staff, really good from then and then favour flats in
:11:27. > :11:30.the home straight. -- you can back off will stop does not matter how
:11:31. > :11:34.much experience you have got coming to your booking your place is
:11:35. > :11:39.crucial in these few days. She did not want to mess around. Anxious
:11:40. > :11:47.wait, she has been looking forward to running. And she has made the
:11:48. > :11:54.running look very, very easy indeed. We know what she is like out of the
:11:55. > :11:58.blocks. Very dynamic and quick, always a great Bend runner. She
:11:59. > :12:05.handles the curve superbly and from this moment on it is about relaxing.
:12:06. > :12:11.Feeling the track again. Getting into her stride length. She knows
:12:12. > :12:19.she has done everything she needs to do. I mean obviously you do not need
:12:20. > :12:27.fast times but she will want to win. Henry going in Heat 3. Williams to
:12:28. > :12:32.come. She is our best 200-metre runner at the moment but I think the
:12:33. > :12:36.other two will want to make their spot. Only two of those three can
:12:37. > :12:42.guarantee their spot here. Absolutely and as you mentioned
:12:43. > :12:47.Desiree Henry finishing third in the 100 metres, bitterly disappointed.
:12:48. > :12:52.Looking very good in the heats and didn't quite do enough to get the
:12:53. > :13:01.automatic space so she will have a point to prove. Comfortable win for
:13:02. > :13:05.Dina Asher-Smith, she can go and relax and she will be back later, a
:13:06. > :13:18.lot later, really, for the final at 4:20pm. Under 23 seconds, the wind,
:13:19. > :13:22.keep an eye on that, that will be crucial in terms of Olympic
:13:23. > :13:30.qualifying. Slide following wind. Season's best for Shannon Hylton in
:13:31. > :13:42.second and personal best for F Dobbin. -- Beth. Good crowd in today
:13:43. > :13:46.as you would expect. Decent crowd yesterday. Perfume author Dave on
:13:47. > :13:59.super Sunday. We are hoping the rain will hold off. -- a few more to the
:14:00. > :14:03.on super Sunday. Lots of drama as well, we have talked about places up
:14:04. > :14:10.for grabs obviously but it is being able to cement your team. 11 people
:14:11. > :14:16.yesterday but their flight to Rio. All ages, the interest in athletics,
:14:17. > :14:19.all ages. It is great to see the turnout. Trials have been fiercely
:14:20. > :14:24.contested but it has been said that this is possibly one of our best
:14:25. > :14:28.Olympic trials we have seen in the long time. I think very competitive
:14:29. > :14:35.and by the way, that looks nice. I have not had my lunch yet. The
:14:36. > :14:37.women's 800 later, seven people yesterday with the qualifying mark.
:14:38. > :14:55.Andrew. Onto heat two of the women's 200
:14:56. > :15:02.metres. Interesting to see how Louise Bloor goes.
:15:03. > :15:11.Six runners. Lucy Evans who took the Welsh title this year. Running in
:15:12. > :15:16.the green, red and white of sale Harriers.
:15:17. > :15:31.Amanda Shaw, Wakefield Harriers. A similar sort of time. And inside
:15:32. > :15:35.her, the Trafford athlete... And in March, a stress fracture in her back
:15:36. > :15:44.was diagnosed. Very unfortunate timing. Interesting to see what sort
:15:45. > :16:00.of form she isn't. Kimberly Baptiste inside her... This athlete studying
:16:01. > :16:04.in Oklahoma. Has reached qualifying standard previously in the USA. And
:16:05. > :16:21.in your clock... Inside 24 seconds. Four heats. Only one goes through
:16:22. > :16:26.automatically. Plus the four fastest losers.
:16:27. > :16:30.Very interesting to see what sort of form Louise Bloor is in after her
:16:31. > :16:52.injury. Pipi quite well away. Louise Bloor
:16:53. > :16:58.working strongly down the bend. Pipi alongside. Ten Pack three out in
:16:59. > :17:04.front, Bloor working hard down the straight. Pipi a long way out and it
:17:05. > :17:13.will be Pipi, comfortable winner of this heat. Taking the qualifying
:17:14. > :17:16.spot and the wind had dropped. 23.84, not as quick as she might
:17:17. > :17:22.have liked for that second qualifying spot but she has a place
:17:23. > :17:27.in the final. You might not have seen too much of Pipi, she is based
:17:28. > :17:31.in the United States at the moment, but running very well, Berry
:17:32. > :17:36.consistently. When you are competing there, when you are in the United
:17:37. > :17:40.States, that gives you a lot of raising experience which she showed.
:17:41. > :17:46.Absolutely, she came to these championships full of running.
:17:47. > :17:50.Making a very good 200 metres, putting together a decent race. She
:17:51. > :17:54.got out well. What you are looking for in the bend is they are curbing
:17:55. > :18:00.the turn and she drifted a little, stays sort of centre but could have
:18:01. > :18:05.her but that lane a little tighter. She comes into the home straight,
:18:06. > :18:09.looking for relaxation, looking for a comfortable turnover and as you
:18:10. > :18:15.said, Andrew... Lots of running has been done over in the States. So she
:18:16. > :18:23.is fresh, knows what she has got to do and made her qualification and
:18:24. > :18:32.very easy indeed. A real shame for Amy Allcock. But Pipi coming down
:18:33. > :18:35.the street, looking comfortable. Louise Bloor, missing a little bit
:18:36. > :18:41.of running in those legs after that stress fracture injury. But Pipi, as
:18:42. > :18:47.we mentioned, studying over in Oklahoma. Looking ready good for a
:18:48. > :18:53.challenge in the final. The pace, a little bit down, as you would expect
:18:54. > :18:58.on that of Dina Asher-Smith. Some quick runners to come. Jody
:18:59. > :19:05.Williams, Bianca Williams... Pipi, an easy winner of that. Head of
:19:06. > :19:09.Kimberly Baptiste. The four fastest losers will go through, a personal
:19:10. > :19:26.best for Kimberly Baptiste as we can confirm...
:19:27. > :19:35.The discus... Aiden Francis is out in front. This is round five. On
:19:36. > :19:44.home turf. The best this year, 55.8 five. Let's look at this. Writing
:19:45. > :19:49.hard off the left leg, hitting hard on the heels. Chasing down...
:19:50. > :19:56.Looking closer to the 60-metre line than the 50-metre line, Olympic
:19:57. > :20:00.qualifying is 61 metres, and a season's best for her. That was a
:20:01. > :20:12.few moments ago. In the final round, taking the lead,
:20:13. > :20:18.just shy of 60 metres. Making great ground this year. Qualifying for the
:20:19. > :20:27.pics. That will be enough. The British champion. On the plane to
:20:28. > :20:32.Rio de Janeiro. That has assured her place on Team GB. What a great
:20:33. > :20:35.throw, decent throw, not great, actually, I will take that back.
:20:36. > :20:43.Very high standards this year. Second best ever. Jade Lalli. And
:20:44. > :20:50.below 60 metres. Into a slight headwind. Looks pleased enough.
:20:51. > :21:01.Victory ie three metres for Jade. Celebrations all round.
:21:02. > :21:16.The British champion, six qualifier marks, that is sure is a place in
:21:17. > :21:19.the team for Rio de Janeiro. Aiden Francis, decent enough performance.
:21:20. > :21:35.A good win for Jade. So we move onto heat three in the
:21:36. > :21:39.women's 200 metres. If you were with us some minutes ago, disappointment
:21:40. > :21:45.that Asha Philip will not start, after winning the 100 metres
:21:46. > :21:56.yesterday. Desiree Henry in lane three.
:21:57. > :22:13.She has the distinction of being the oldest in the field but we won't
:22:14. > :22:23.talk about that. And now, the youngest in the field. Chloe
:22:24. > :22:28.Lambert... Third in the Commonwealth youth games a few years back. A lot
:22:29. > :22:40.of Scottish athletes having a good weekend. Joey Duck in lane five,
:22:41. > :22:45.trying to get back to form. And a big opportunity for a Desiree Henry,
:22:46. > :22:52.still just 20 years of age, real talent. So disappointed, Denise was
:22:53. > :22:57.right, ran very well, I was here on Friday night, but ran so good. In
:22:58. > :23:01.the heat... She just seemed to run out of steam a little bit in the
:23:02. > :23:05.final of the 100 metres, finishing third.
:23:06. > :23:16.No Ashlee Nelson. Problem for her in terms of injury. An opportunity to
:23:17. > :23:24.get to the final four Henry and she could cement for a spot in the 200
:23:25. > :23:29.metre team later. Away they go... Not the best start. Sometimes Henry
:23:30. > :23:35.is not the best out of the blocks. Running a very good bend, tried to
:23:36. > :23:40.relax. The youngster going well. Henry with that lovely action...
:23:41. > :23:44.Those are working, and this is what she looks like when she is relaxed.
:23:45. > :23:50.When there is a little bit of pressure, things can go a little
:23:51. > :23:56.awry. 23.15. Easing off, relaxing down the home straight. She looks
:23:57. > :24:02.happy. It is really hard, isn't it, Denise? When an opportunity like she
:24:03. > :24:07.had in the 100 metres seems to slip through your fingers, she could
:24:08. > :24:11.still yet be selected. And you have to gather yourself, come out again,
:24:12. > :24:17.put that this appointment behind you, get back on the bike as it
:24:18. > :24:21.were. The heats are a good way to do that. Absolutely, she knows she is
:24:22. > :24:26.in great shape, a beautiful looking runner, I like Armour over the 200
:24:27. > :24:31.than I do over the 100 because you get to see that lovely technique in
:24:32. > :24:35.full flow but what this proves to you, when you come to these Olympic
:24:36. > :24:40.trials, you cannot underestimate anybody. A lot of youngsters here
:24:41. > :24:45.this weekend trying to take that next step, book their place, get a
:24:46. > :24:49.personal best and I think maybe she switched off, maybe a little bit
:24:50. > :24:53.ruffled white Asha Philip taking out the 100 but this young lady has a
:24:54. > :25:02.great opportunity, she is looking good and she just needs to remain
:25:03. > :25:07.confident. Just one more heat to go. The final at 4:20pm, don't miss it,
:25:08. > :25:08.should be fantastic. Let's catch up with more of the highlights from
:25:09. > :25:22.yesterday. Unfinished business in the men's
:25:23. > :25:28.triple jumper Julian Reed. And Nathan Douglas. Both have the
:25:29. > :25:32.qualifying standard last year, still didn't get selected for the World
:25:33. > :25:36.Championships. Read took second place in the trials yesterday but
:25:37. > :25:40.needs another jump over the Olympic qualifying standard to guarantee
:25:41. > :25:48.selection this year. Douglas won the UK Crown bodies in a the same
:25:49. > :25:53.situation, have time to go beyond 60 metres 85 and give the selectors no
:25:54. > :26:02.options. The women's hammer could offer Britain's best hope for a
:26:03. > :26:07.throwing medal. For Sophie Hitchen, it is job done, heading to a second
:26:08. > :26:11.Olympics and is only 24. Sometimes when you are the favourite it can be
:26:12. > :26:18.difficult, but it's about executing, doing what I needed to do. But it is
:26:19. > :26:22.about going into the next few competitions, hopefully I will be
:26:23. > :26:26.able to pull together. You'd note you are going to Rio de Janeiro,
:26:27. > :26:30.that feeling of representing Great Britain, it must give you a huge
:26:31. > :26:35.thrill. It has come round that fast, it doesn't seem that long ago since
:26:36. > :26:43.2012. It has come round again. It's always nice to see. A few of the
:26:44. > :26:46.results and performances so far in the Championships and this,
:26:47. > :26:52.confirmation of the last heat in the women's 200 metres. Henry, a big
:26:53. > :27:00.winner, quick enough time. A long way clear of Joey Duck.
:27:01. > :27:11.That was heat three. We have seen big wins for Desiree Henry and Dina
:27:12. > :27:14.Asher-Smith. Good conditions at the moment, it is tried, I think that
:27:15. > :27:23.was contrary to the forecast. The breezes picking up and dying away.
:27:24. > :27:27.That is affecting times. We want to keep things legal in terms of the
:27:28. > :27:36.wind and times as we look ahead to the fourth and final heat. A very
:27:37. > :27:42.young line-up. Three 18-year-olds in their but we will be looking out for
:27:43. > :27:43.the Williams... Jody Williams and Bianca Williams, the latter in lane
:27:44. > :27:53.three. On the outside lane, Bailey, from
:27:54. > :28:04.Corby. Ella Barrett, we were talking about
:28:05. > :28:10.the 18-year-olds. That Yorkshire champion over 100 and 200. Another
:28:11. > :28:22.other youngsters, Selina Henderson, from Falkirk. 25 points 30, modest
:28:23. > :28:28.time this season. Jody Williams... She has the qualifying standard. As
:28:29. > :28:31.does Bianca Williams, silver-medallist in the Europeans
:28:32. > :28:38.and Commonwealth Games. Jazz Crawford, 18.
:28:39. > :28:45.24.51 this season. Bianca Williams. Silver-medallist and
:28:46. > :28:52.bronze-medallist here in the Commonwealth Games two years ago.
:28:53. > :28:58.She has the qualifying standard. 23 points 27 this season from Bianca
:28:59. > :29:05.Williams. Only one to go through automatically. You would think about
:29:06. > :29:10.Jody Williams for that. Always a concern, she was protecting her
:29:11. > :29:16.hamstring, pulled out of the world relay. How will she run?
:29:17. > :29:24.The final heat of the women's 200 metres. Jody Williams away nicely,
:29:25. > :29:29.Boyata Williams on the extreme outside, pushing hard. Jody Williams
:29:30. > :29:32.out in front. One to go through only. Automatically, Jody Williams
:29:33. > :29:37.by a couple of metres from Bianca Williams. Jody Williams looking
:29:38. > :29:43.around, looking easy, comfortable, she will take the victory, the
:29:44. > :29:48.automatic place. 22 points 99. The wind dropping a little bit, legal
:29:49. > :29:54.time. Staring to the camera, looking good. Bianca Williams, I suspect,
:29:55. > :29:59.her time will be good, four fastest loser is to go through. She will
:30:00. > :30:03.certainly go through without, Jody Williams, good to see such a good,
:30:04. > :30:07.young talent, problem with injuries but looking constable.
:30:08. > :30:14.She looked well within herself but she will have looked at the draw
:30:15. > :30:17.this morning knowing that comfortable codification, she has
:30:18. > :30:21.been training well. She indicated she has had some problems this
:30:22. > :30:27.season but finding her form and looking to replicate the magical
:30:28. > :30:33.season she had in 2014. Always so important to make sure you have a
:30:34. > :30:37.great bend and Jody does just that. You would expect Bianca Williams in
:30:38. > :30:43.Lane 3 to start to come through that both of them looking nice and easy.
:30:44. > :30:49.Jodie looking like she might do business in the final. Such a talent
:30:50. > :30:56.as a junior, then as you mentioned coming through and that amazing year
:30:57. > :31:00.but for those injuries, she is the purest 200-metre runner Britain has
:31:01. > :31:07.produced in the last few years. She has great attributes for 200, great
:31:08. > :31:11.speed endurance. As a junior we were looking for her to come through will
:31:12. > :31:15.stop as so many of these athletes are tested with injury it is how you
:31:16. > :31:21.deal with that and how you put together your race plan. To allow
:31:22. > :31:33.you to be in the best possible shape you can being at these trials and
:31:34. > :31:41.beyond. Bianca Williams will be through with that one you would
:31:42. > :31:48.think. STUDIO: Very confident looking Jodie Williams. The next
:31:49. > :31:58.action on the track will be the 400 metre hurdles with a little oil, and
:31:59. > :32:06.now we will take -- a league Eilidh Doyle. We will talk about drugs.
:32:07. > :32:12.Let's start with Russia, the IAAF upholding the ban with a few
:32:13. > :32:22.exceptions. Were you first of all surprised at Mark no, not really. I
:32:23. > :32:29.think once we saw the programme, and then the feedback from Russia.
:32:30. > :32:35.Russia are refusing to acknowledge there was a problem. I do not think
:32:36. > :32:40.there was a choice. I think they had to be strong. And not allow Russia
:32:41. > :32:45.to compete until the changes come in and that will take a couple of
:32:46. > :32:49.years. The bizarre thing Steve almost seem to be that Russia did
:32:50. > :32:55.not take this seriously. Bell I agree. They have obviously been
:32:56. > :33:04.sidestepped in terms of their own attitude towards this. There is lots
:33:05. > :33:09.of little things. I think even on the IAAF side we are talking about
:33:10. > :33:16.this discussion with the IOC about allowing proven innocent athletes to
:33:17. > :33:21.compete either under a neutral flag or even has Russia so it is not
:33:22. > :33:26.really sorted out. Even that process when the IAAF suspended Russia some
:33:27. > :33:31.months back it might have been helpful if they had said to the
:33:32. > :33:33.athlete, you might want to start thinking about getting out of the
:33:34. > :33:36.system because we don't think Russia will take this seriously. Russian
:33:37. > :33:48.athletes have been caught in between. Perhaps not being quite
:33:49. > :33:50.aware of how they, if they are innocent, there must be some clean
:33:51. > :33:57.athlete, we presume. It looks difficult for them to get to Rio
:33:58. > :34:00.now. I think Russia are where they deserve to be. What I good evening
:34:01. > :34:10.there has been a change, there was an interesting intervention from the
:34:11. > :34:19.commission president and Becky Scott from Wada, Russia thought they would
:34:20. > :34:22.be let back in again, but now it seems things are out in the open and
:34:23. > :34:30.decisions are being made. I think what we are seeing is a ground swell
:34:31. > :34:35.of the athletes themselves standing up and saying it is our sport and we
:34:36. > :34:43.need to stop the politics. Get the athletes point of view across. We
:34:44. > :34:46.want these governing bodies, to do their principal job which is
:34:47. > :34:50.protecting clean athletes and ensuring they can compete on a level
:34:51. > :34:55.playing field. And the crowds watching can believe what they are
:34:56. > :34:59.watching. The ISC talked about Kenya and their noncompliance on and they
:35:00. > :35:05.have to go through a process if they want to be selected for Rio. Yes,
:35:06. > :35:09.that's a little easier for the Kenyan athletes because their doping
:35:10. > :35:13.system has been under the auspices of the IAAF for a while because of
:35:14. > :35:17.the issues around doing effective testing in Kenya and that has been
:35:18. > :35:21.recognised for a while. There is a fair few athletes will be able to
:35:22. > :35:26.meet that much better than perhaps some of the Russian athletes. It is
:35:27. > :35:31.an issue for Kenya but I do not think we will see some of the bigger
:35:32. > :35:34.names we would expect to be in Rio as part of the Kenyan team not being
:35:35. > :35:43.allowed to compete because they have been tested regularly. They are on
:35:44. > :35:47.the circuit regularly competing. And undergoing fairly brittle and
:35:48. > :35:58.testing, the likes of Kiprop and Rudisha. So we are in a really
:35:59. > :36:04.interesting situation. Bit like post-Brexit... Don't mention it.
:36:05. > :36:09.Everybody looking at the middle of a changing period. The Olympics coming
:36:10. > :36:12.along in the middle of that. Some big decisions having to be taken
:36:13. > :36:18.quite quickly and we have to be careful about that. We cannot allow
:36:19. > :36:23.the Olympics to interfere in really looking at what the issues are in
:36:24. > :36:27.country after country where the labs are not meeting the criteria. That
:36:28. > :36:35.is partly the fault of Wada as well, going back to check labs, they will
:36:36. > :36:39.say perhaps they need more funding. But if there are lots of countries
:36:40. > :36:44.out there including Kenya, Mexico, a whole bunch of them not complying.
:36:45. > :36:50.Even the Rio lab three days ago was declared noncompliance. They will
:36:51. > :36:57.have to fly them back to Switzerland to do the testing for the Olympics.
:36:58. > :37:06.That brings us onto Sochi, another ongoing investigation, allegations
:37:07. > :37:11.that they tampered with specimens in the Olympic testing lab. If those
:37:12. > :37:17.are proven to be true then this supersedes anything we have been
:37:18. > :37:20.talking about. Is it an entire Russia ban? Definitely, that is what
:37:21. > :37:25.has woken up the IOC athletes commission to put the reports
:37:26. > :37:31.forward because suddenly the saw these other sports. Looking back at
:37:32. > :37:36.November when the first McLaren Dick Pound report came out the other
:37:37. > :37:42.sports should have looked at this, it was never just athletics. Trying
:37:43. > :37:46.to do something before Rio it is too late but I do not understand why it
:37:47. > :37:50.is taking so long, it should have been done by now. Those people
:37:51. > :37:53.should never be involved in sport again because that is tampering with
:37:54. > :38:03.basically everything we can believe in. Another recent thing in the news
:38:04. > :38:05.was the barber 1500 metre world record-holder, EPO steroids found in
:38:06. > :38:16.his hotel. -- terrorist for all of the Russia ban and things
:38:17. > :38:26.are changing, how are people going to view Rio. Greg Rutherford in the
:38:27. > :38:36.long jump. How are people going to respond. It is important we do not
:38:37. > :38:41.get sidetracked by Rio, the battle to find the coaches and managers and
:38:42. > :38:53.athletes must go on. We cannot back off. If Dibaba's coach is found to
:38:54. > :39:00.be, there has been a long term invitation. That needs to be
:39:01. > :39:05.publicised. An ongoing investigation into Jama Aden. The public need to
:39:06. > :39:10.understand that all sport hopefully should be trying their best to root
:39:11. > :39:14.out not just the athletes, they make the headlines but it is people
:39:15. > :39:19.behind-the-scenes, the same way we are accusing the Russian Federation
:39:20. > :39:22.and banning them, there is instant full out on the athletes, we should
:39:23. > :39:26.be looking at coaching groups. If there is a culture we think has been
:39:27. > :39:34.cheating, that group somehow has to be following the same route as the
:39:35. > :39:38.Russian athletes. It can be and are -- an analogy if you like. If you're
:39:39. > :39:43.hanging round had to where the coach has syringes, whether they claim
:39:44. > :39:49.they are there is not. No athlete wants to be seen as King would hang
:39:50. > :39:53.around that scenario, would you? I think there is a lot happening but
:39:54. > :39:57.we also have to make sure we are still chasing those people to get
:39:58. > :40:04.rid of them. On final thought before we move on to Jess Ennis and
:40:05. > :40:08.Germany. Testing samples again seems to be a fantastic thing, eight years
:40:09. > :40:17.down the road but now we have introduced the fact that the Olympic
:40:18. > :40:32.high jump champion from 2012 had a negative B sample. It is not chaos,
:40:33. > :40:46.we had it with Bernard Lagatla, it is there to be a second chance to
:40:47. > :40:54.check things. We will leave it there, some better news, Jess Ennis
:40:55. > :41:00.in Germany. -- Bernard Lagat. We can take a look at day one and the first
:41:01. > :41:05.two events of the two and at the moment she is well ahead of the
:41:06. > :41:11.total she got in Beijing to take the gold-medal. 84 points ahead and in
:41:12. > :41:17.particular look at the long jump, 6.63 is a personal best. One person
:41:18. > :41:23.who knows all about multi-events is the Olympic champion from Australia,
:41:24. > :41:28.Denise Lewis. This is a pretty fantastic performance from someone
:41:29. > :41:32.who we do not know if she was fit. The question for Jess is selecting
:41:33. > :41:38.the competition. She has had her injury problems but almost
:41:39. > :41:46.inevitably athletes do not make the right decisions. The performance she
:41:47. > :41:57.has put together so far is testament to the decisions she has to make. In
:41:58. > :42:07.terms of what you have seen, do you start hanging the gold-medal around
:42:08. > :42:12.her neck? I am very confident, the most aggressive was the highlight.
:42:13. > :42:17.The long jump has been so temperamental for her over the last
:42:18. > :42:26.few years. After the great things we have seen from her, 6.63 is
:42:27. > :42:31.outstanding. I do think hanging a medal around her neck, that is of
:42:32. > :42:38.its end. But she is definitely favourite. One athlete who had a
:42:39. > :42:42.disappointing start was Katarina Johnson-Thompson, where is she at
:42:43. > :42:47.the moment? Again athletes get injured, it throws them into
:42:48. > :42:52.disarray. I think the greatest battle for her now is where she is
:42:53. > :42:57.mentally. She still has to believe she can go out there and give Jess a
:42:58. > :43:07.real good run for her money and let's not just say there are other
:43:08. > :43:12.athletes out there. The wife of Ashton eaten is also world leader
:43:13. > :43:21.perhaps not so after this weekend, but she has put in a good
:43:22. > :43:26.performance this year. We know the potential Kat has. Great speed
:43:27. > :43:32.injuries but she needs to put it together. And if she goes to the
:43:33. > :43:38.start line in Rio healthy she will be dangerous. When we get that 800
:43:39. > :43:43.metre result from Germany we will let you know. Next on track is a
:43:44. > :43:51.Eilidh Doyle. This year she has really stepped up to the point where
:43:52. > :43:59.maybe we think she could win a medal in radio. COMMENTATOR: I am sure she
:44:00. > :44:08.has the potential to do that. She started the Diamond League season
:44:09. > :44:14.with a bang. It looked like a soft entry here. The American trials next
:44:15. > :44:19.week will give us an idea of what she needs to get into the final. In
:44:20. > :44:24.the final of this one out with Andrew Coltart. COMMENTATOR: Since
:44:25. > :44:28.the injury to Perri Shakes-Drayton, we will see her later on, this event
:44:29. > :44:35.has been demoted in British terms by this one-woman, Eilidh Doyle,
:44:36. > :44:43.formerly Eilidh Child. She lines up in lane six.
:44:44. > :44:52.Lookout for Shauna Richards and Jessica Turner has been running
:44:53. > :44:59.well. She goes in lane four. Meghan Beesley is an absentee, she is out
:45:00. > :45:02.with an Achilles problem. She is hoping for selection in the European
:45:03. > :45:10.Championships and see how she goes from there. Abigayle Fitzpatrick,
:45:11. > :45:15.under 23 champion. Definite close, the youngest in the line-up, 20
:45:16. > :45:21.years old, personal-best 58 point 74.
:45:22. > :45:28.No such worries on that front for Eilidh Doyle, defending champion,
:45:29. > :45:35.world-class, European champion. Silver at the Commonwealth Games.
:45:36. > :45:47.And Philip below, in lane five. Has got her personal best down to 58.0
:45:48. > :45:51.three. Jessica Turner. 57 seconds flat in Poland at the beginning of
:45:52. > :46:00.the month. Still just 20. Shauna Richards, also 20, world junior at
:46:01. > :46:02.silver-medallist two years ago, 56.05 in the European Under 23
:46:03. > :46:08.Championships and Estonia this time last year, needs to try and find
:46:09. > :46:12.that form again. There will be big support for Ese Okoro, Birchfield
:46:13. > :46:17.Harrier, two years ago, there were five siblings competing at these
:46:18. > :46:18.championships, an athletic family. Hayley Mclean from Chelmsford,
:46:19. > :46:33.former European junior championship. Shauna Richards... Mentioned, the
:46:34. > :46:39.world junior silver-medallist, setting a British junior record.
:46:40. > :46:48.Finding that sort of form, the qualifying standard is 56.20. Hasn't
:46:49. > :46:53.managed to reach 57 seconds the season. Eilidh Doyle... Dominant in
:46:54. > :47:05.the British 400-metre hurdling. Adam on interrupted winter training.
:47:06. > :47:06.She is sometimes slow to start the season but she says this year has
:47:07. > :47:13.been just about her best. The final of the women's 400 metres
:47:14. > :47:33.hurdles. Most eyes looking to Eilidh Doyle
:47:34. > :47:39.and how she paces this race. Moving up on Bethany Close, alongside her
:47:40. > :47:45.now. Looking strong and comfortable. Eilidh Doyle already taking huge
:47:46. > :47:48.chunks out of the rest of the field. Richard is running pretty well in
:47:49. > :47:54.lane three. Three from the right. What time can she manage? Eilidh
:47:55. > :47:58.Doyle controlling the race, keeping the stride even, her stride pattern
:47:59. > :48:02.is consistent, look at the lead, this is a gulf in class for her and
:48:03. > :48:09.the rest of the field. Without Meghan Beesley year. Temp act one, a
:48:10. > :48:12.class apart. Richard is... And Jessica Turner doing battle for
:48:13. > :48:17.second and third, Turner just in front. Eilidh Doyle, ten metres more
:48:18. > :48:26.than that clear of the rest of the field, it is all about her victory
:48:27. > :48:32.and the time she runs. 54.93, Jessica Turner taking second. She
:48:33. > :48:38.barely looks out of breath, Eilidh Doyle. My goodness! What a dominant
:48:39. > :48:41.performance, we expected it, the UK champion again. No one really can
:48:42. > :48:48.touch her in 400-metre hurdling terms. In Britain at the moment. A
:48:49. > :48:52.familiar smile, we have seen so many times as she gathers medals in
:48:53. > :48:56.European and Commonwealth terms and here, she takes the British title
:48:57. > :49:00.very comfortably. It is one thing being the favourite but you still
:49:01. > :49:05.have to go out and deliver and things can happen in hurdles, even
:49:06. > :49:13.in the 400 metres and that was a performance race. It was really good
:49:14. > :49:18.to see. You know, the way she started was spot on, she has had
:49:19. > :49:21.flawless preparation which allows her to come out very well at the
:49:22. > :49:25.beginning of the year, in the diamond league in Joe Hart, taking
:49:26. > :49:34.their first race, that is important for any of these world-class
:49:35. > :49:38.athletes. Settling into the season. -- Doha. Get that with an early. It
:49:39. > :49:45.is difficult sometimes to push yourself when you are so dominant
:49:46. > :49:48.but good rhythm, good style, and for her, she will really enjoy the fact
:49:49. > :49:53.that she is going to go to Rio now, this guarantees her spot and she can
:49:54. > :49:57.focus on getting through to the final and attacking those metal
:49:58. > :50:02.places. Interesting what you are saying, she can only push yourself,
:50:03. > :50:05.that is why it is a shame, it would be nice to see Meghan Beesley coming
:50:06. > :50:12.back and running, she is one person who can get close to Eilidh Doyle.
:50:13. > :50:18.Ahead on does not do it justice, the margin of victory... She is the
:50:19. > :50:22.champion, a bit of a store, under 55 seconds, the UK champion again and
:50:23. > :50:28.she talks now to fill. Congratulations on that. A sense of
:50:29. > :50:33.relief, you know you are a class apart from this field but you needed
:50:34. > :50:36.to get the job done? I never take anything for granted, I have to go
:50:37. > :50:40.out and anything can happen in hurdles, that was the main focus. I
:50:41. > :50:46.needed to show tonight, get the qualifying. I can get the plane to
:50:47. > :50:50.Rio. We know you are European champion and you have been fifth and
:50:51. > :50:54.sixth... The way you are running this year I think people are
:50:55. > :50:58.suggesting you might get a medal at the Olympics. How do you feel things
:50:59. > :51:03.are going? I am confident, the hurdles is open this year, got to
:51:04. > :51:08.keep plugging away and working hard. I do not give away medals easily but
:51:09. > :51:12.I am going to try and fight for one. How much is there a sense of
:51:13. > :51:17.celebration in making the team and how much is ticking a that is it,
:51:18. > :51:21.everyone talks about the Olympics but until you have cemented the
:51:22. > :51:26.selection you cannot focus too much honoured, I can go away now know I
:51:27. > :51:30.will be there. Listen, I know you have run so well this season but in
:51:31. > :51:35.a race like today, do you ever wish you could be pushed more on the
:51:36. > :51:39.British stage? When you do hurdles, it's all about the stride pattern,
:51:40. > :51:43.sometimes it becomes irrelevant, it's all about your own performance,
:51:44. > :51:47.I don't take anything for granted, great race today. Great race,
:51:48. > :51:52.congratulations on booking your place for real.
:51:53. > :51:57.It's interesting talking about the prospects, as Steve was alluded to,
:51:58. > :52:03.the US trials, five Americans have run quicker than Eilidh Doyle. Look
:52:04. > :52:10.at the margin of victory for her. Jessica Turner in second place and a
:52:11. > :52:16.personal best for it Bethany Close. Well done to Eilidh Doyle. Denise
:52:17. > :52:20.Lewis has found a chair, but Paula, you are doing well at keeping your
:52:21. > :52:26.cheer here! Good performance from Eilidh Doyle. It is easy to go out
:52:27. > :52:29.and focus on your own race in the hurdles but it's the mental side,
:52:30. > :52:34.getting yourself up for race you know you are going to win?
:52:35. > :52:38.Absolutely and she does it so well, so much championship experience, at
:52:39. > :52:43.these of trials and she has had to get used of taking those races,
:52:44. > :52:48.almost like a time trial, doing the job and getting it done. I don't
:52:49. > :52:52.know whether I would agree with... Sometimes you need those races, it's
:52:53. > :52:57.testing your stride pattern and your ability to keep a cool head in
:52:58. > :53:01.really quick races and... It varies for some athletes quite
:53:02. > :53:04.dramatically. Nice to see her here, Pollock, she is the sort of athlete
:53:05. > :53:09.who might have woken up in the middle of the week and said my
:53:10. > :53:13.hamstring is sore, I do not fancy it. Absolutely and it's great to see
:53:14. > :53:18.her here, the crowd appreciate it and it's great to see her coming out
:53:19. > :53:28.and running well. A beard will inspire more kids to go down to the
:53:29. > :53:34.local track and try the 400 metres. The men's 400-metre hurdles is out
:53:35. > :53:39.on the track behind us. Denise, contrasting to the women's race,
:53:40. > :53:44.this is as hard as you like. It is hard and it is wide open. All the
:53:45. > :53:49.guys running here, welcome back to Rhys Williams, running again. Jack
:53:50. > :53:55.Green has had his issues but he is also in the line-up and you cannot
:53:56. > :54:02.call it, if I am honest. It will be a testament to who wants it the
:54:03. > :54:05.most. Just seeing Eilidh Doyle still carrying on her celebrations, we
:54:06. > :54:12.will go back to get ready and changed and then get ready for the
:54:13. > :54:17.presentation. There is Jack Green. Unfortunately, Dai Greene did not
:54:18. > :54:23.make the final... Paul. He knew he was up against it. Had a long way to
:54:24. > :54:27.come back. He gave it his best shot but he wasn't able to be there in
:54:28. > :54:31.the final today. But I think you can walk away knowing he gave it his
:54:32. > :54:35.best. The unenviable task of trying to call the blanket finish, with me,
:54:36. > :54:45.it's Steve Crown! Let's go for the duvet. I will try
:54:46. > :54:50.and set this out. Anybody... Certainly any one or two out of four
:54:51. > :55:09.men are guaranteed a place. Let's begin with Flannery. The
:55:10. > :55:15.defending champion, qualification marks from last year. Mind it can go
:55:16. > :55:20.all the way back to the 1st of May 2015, he has two qualification marks
:55:21. > :55:26.so a top two for him, sorted. He goes to Rio. Jacob Hall, the
:55:27. > :55:30.youngest, 21, new personal best. In qualifying for the final could he
:55:31. > :55:37.sprang a surprise? You would have to drop another big personal best. Rhys
:55:38. > :55:44.Williams. He has done that time once this year. Needs to finish in the
:55:45. > :55:50.top two and run 49 point for quicker. That would guarantee his
:55:51. > :56:00.spot. Similarly, Tom Burton. Last year, ran 49.3 six. He will need to
:56:01. > :56:02.repeat that here today. A bit more difficult for Sebastian Rodger.
:56:03. > :56:08.Perhaps the most consistent this year. Hasn't been able to drop a
:56:09. > :56:16.time and get that qualification mark. Jack Green... He has done.
:56:17. > :56:18.Having Jack Green probably in the best position, if he can produce the
:56:19. > :56:29.sort of form he has shown already. Needs to finish in the top two. The
:56:30. > :56:35.city of Sheffield club. The former world champion, Jack Calton. His
:56:36. > :56:46.team-mate from the same club, Rick Yates. As often performed so well.
:56:47. > :56:54.In the rounds to qualify, Jack Green... Perfectly fine. Tom Burton
:56:55. > :57:00.looked pretty good. And Rhys Williams... Niall Flannery
:57:01. > :57:05.struggling a little bit. That is why he finds himself out in lane eight.
:57:06. > :57:31.Green is in three. Tom Burton in five.
:57:32. > :57:37.Safely away. Flannery probably has to get out there pretty hard. In the
:57:38. > :57:42.400-metre hurdles you cannot change much in terms of your rhythm and
:57:43. > :57:46.stride pattern. It's going to be about the home straight. Jack Green
:57:47. > :57:52.going well already, Tom Burton in the middle. The green vest of
:57:53. > :57:56.Tamworth. Flannery rising first. Hardly anything to choose between
:57:57. > :58:00.them, Sebastian Rodger in this, Jack Ring struggling, losing a couple of
:58:01. > :58:05.metres. Rhys Williams, Burton, Sebastian Rodger, Flannery...
:58:06. > :58:11.Sebastian Rodger leading. Rhys Williams trying to get in, here
:58:12. > :58:17.comes Jack Green. Jack Green trying to get there but Sebastian Rodger
:58:18. > :58:25.leading. Still holding a metre. Sebastian Rodger Windsor from Jack
:58:26. > :58:31.Green, 49.40 six. What a shame. Sebastian Rodger had been the most
:58:32. > :58:36.consistent this year. Jack Green confirming his place in real but
:58:37. > :58:41.600th of a second shy of an Olympic qualifying mark. Sometimes the
:58:42. > :58:47.consistency of performing reasonably well... Sometimes you cannot just
:58:48. > :58:52.drop a time, for him, it's a bit easy down that back straight but he
:58:53. > :58:57.attacked it. Nothing to choose between the first 200 metres, ran
:58:58. > :59:02.really well through the top bend. Had that lead, under pressure, stood
:59:03. > :59:06.up well. I was a little bit nervous for him coming into the final
:59:07. > :59:12.barrier. Attacking it so aggressively but as you said, that
:59:13. > :59:15.consistency that you have under your belt is and always great in these
:59:16. > :59:20.circumstances. When the pressure is on, you know you have the confidence
:59:21. > :59:29.to clear the final barrier is, put yourself in a good position to go
:59:30. > :59:33.driving into the line. Sebastian Rodger had been quite nervous of
:59:34. > :59:39.some people, he opens his stride, into the crown of the bend, pushing
:59:40. > :59:43.well, here we go, driving. I am strong and focused, I will keep my
:59:44. > :59:52.rhythm. I know there is pressure, I am going to be steaming, look how he
:59:53. > :59:57.works hard into that tape. Gutted that he just missed the qualifying.
:59:58. > :00:02.But the thing is, now he has come within the top two he has until to
:00:03. > :00:06.lie the 11th to run the mark and the fact he is so close, he will have to
:00:07. > :00:11.fight some races, the European Championships are an option, not too
:00:12. > :00:15.many meetings around, but can he run the time twice to guarantee
:00:16. > :00:20.selection or will he get picked anyway, the fact he has run here
:00:21. > :00:25.today. He needs to get at least one qualifying mark. Came close, but the
:00:26. > :00:30.main thing for him, he has given himself an option and a chance and
:00:31. > :00:39.Jack Green, he can be very happy, the fact he has qualified.
:00:40. > :00:46.I think we can tidy up the result before talking to the two of them.
:00:47. > :00:59.Winning time for Sebastian Rogers, just out five hundredths of a
:01:00. > :01:07.second, Jack Green 49 point 49. The two guys with Phil. We can talk
:01:08. > :01:10.about permutations now. Jack has secured his place and it is a
:01:11. > :01:14.question of chasing times or convincing the selectors you should
:01:15. > :01:18.go regardless, you are so close today. It is out of our control
:01:19. > :01:23.really, we did not want to go down to this but it has done, one of
:01:24. > :01:27.those things. Willie Targett the Europeans or what will be the game
:01:28. > :01:32.plan being to get the times once and nudge selectors? That is the only
:01:33. > :01:36.way I can go, I will go to the Europeans and see what side can do
:01:37. > :01:40.there. I will have to see to be honest. Tremendous performance as
:01:41. > :01:50.congressional is taking the British title. I'm over the moon to be.
:01:51. > :01:55.People are so supportive. Everything has come together so I'm very happy.
:01:56. > :02:02.Wild Jack making the team, you are there in 2012 so unfinished
:02:03. > :02:06.business? Yes I've barely run in the last four years so today was a job,
:02:07. > :02:09.I would like to wear but I really don't care to be honest, I'm going
:02:10. > :02:15.to Rio and about what today was about. It is nice to be going. Age
:02:16. > :02:30.were discovered by, we wish you well. -- tremendous comeback. Jo
:02:31. > :02:39.Blair chasing down the lead. She has hit that hard. A big efforts from Jo
:02:40. > :02:46.Blair, her lifetime best is 54 91. It looks to be beyond that. Slightly
:02:47. > :02:52.short of the arm, knows about that flight well though. She has hit that
:02:53. > :03:01.very hard indeed and has gotten a lot out of it. 57 metres, 44
:03:02. > :03:08.centimetres, a lifetime best and takes the lead. A few months ago,
:03:09. > :03:16.Goldie Sayers finds herself in second place. Looking to chase the
:03:17. > :03:28.lead of 57 metres 44, Jo Blair and that when challenger. Best so far
:03:29. > :03:30.54.70 three. She has an Olympic qualification place from last year
:03:31. > :03:40.but she would need one to improved form. That won't do that, 54.98.
:03:41. > :03:45.Lands heavily, no separation there, all comes flooding through together.
:03:46. > :03:50.Nothing on it, no power going through the javelin. Slight
:03:51. > :03:59.improvement but still in second place for Goldie Sayers. Long jump
:04:00. > :04:06.also underway. No Greg Roman Rutherford. Hit the board by the
:04:07. > :04:17.sounds of it, looks to be over seven metres. Early stages, nothing to
:04:18. > :04:30.worry about with Greg Roman food. We hear he is just playing its careful
:04:31. > :04:36.ahead of Rio. -- Greg Rutherford. A best this year of 61 for Jegede, 30
:04:37. > :04:44.years of age now. That takes the lead, up to his season 's best.
:04:45. > :04:48.Looking at the other side of the stadium they are readying themselves
:04:49. > :04:53.for the men's 200. Three heats in this event. A shame we will not see
:04:54. > :05:01.at Mitchell Blake after his overnight withdrawal. This is the
:05:02. > :05:11.line-up for the first heat and add generally is in there. -- add
:05:12. > :05:13.generally. He has recently run and two for Chris Clarke and Tommy
:05:14. > :05:26.Ramdhan has been running quickly as well. -- Adam Gemili. Kyle Ennis
:05:27. > :05:39.goes on the outside, Newcastle best 20.0 four. Inside him the Liverpool
:05:40. > :05:43.Harrier James Williams. The qualifying standard for this is
:05:44. > :05:54.25.0. Chris Clarke is capable of that's, 20.22, his personal best.
:05:55. > :06:05.Sam Watts of Woodford Green Essex, a semifinalist at the NCAA, studying
:06:06. > :06:10.over in Texas. Permanently with a smile on his face. The European
:06:11. > :06:15.champion, has never won a senior UK title and there is Tommy Ramdhan,
:06:16. > :06:28.the 19-year-old who won the UK junior title in Sweden last summer.
:06:29. > :06:40.Peter Shand, on home soil. New personal best for him this season
:06:41. > :06:43.outside 21 seconds. On the inside. The first two go through
:06:44. > :06:49.automatically and the two fastest losers over the three heats. Sam
:06:50. > :06:59.Watts is on a quick time as well, his personal best is 20.65. They
:07:00. > :07:05.Woodford Green athlete. Adam Gemili in four there. The first of three
:07:06. > :07:20.heats in the men's 200 metres. Clearly a way and Adam Gemili making
:07:21. > :07:24.huge ground, Sam Watts behind it. Adam Gemili in a good position at
:07:25. > :07:28.the moment. Tommy Ramdhan with the ground to make up, Chris Clarke
:07:29. > :07:34.moving nicely. Gemili out in France, had a glance to the right and left,
:07:35. > :07:41.nobody there. A long way clear, Chris Clarke just takes a second
:07:42. > :07:46.place, 26.0. The wind helping a fraction for Adam Gemili. Nice to
:07:47. > :07:52.see him running quickly where things went wrong just over a year ago and
:07:53. > :07:54.ended soaked going of -- ended his hopes of going to the World
:07:55. > :07:59.Championship at he is through to the final. It is nice to see him back
:08:00. > :08:04.and moving so well, yes we know it is only a qualifying round but he is
:08:05. > :08:12.a really good competence printer now Adam. That smile as you say, people
:08:13. > :08:16.love him, enjoyed seeing him perform because when he is at his best very
:08:17. > :08:25.competitive against all the top sprinters in the world. Here is that
:08:26. > :08:29.European champion, Adam managed to do that and Heery is right in the
:08:30. > :08:34.centre of the picture running a very common to all cagey turn, no
:08:35. > :08:40.pressure on him, puts his foot down as he comes off the bench, users
:08:41. > :08:48.away smoothly. Of course stopped the clock around that 20 point six mark.
:08:49. > :08:55.A natural sprinter, not hugely massively, just faster. You wonder
:08:56. > :09:01.how quickly he may have gone last year but the hamstring injury. Again
:09:02. > :09:06.looking easy and able to have those glances around. A strong contender
:09:07. > :09:14.he will be despite the fact there are very quick runners to come. This
:09:15. > :09:19.is a pretty loaded event. This will be one of the hot races here this
:09:20. > :09:24.weekend. Don't worry, these guys are full of action and are looking to
:09:25. > :09:33.run fast and of course obviously have the best seat on the plane.
:09:34. > :09:40.Looking easy, comfortably through. The final is at 445, confirmation of
:09:41. > :09:51.that result, Gemili and Chris Clarke go through automatically but Gemili
:09:52. > :09:55.a long way clear of his rivals. Adam Gemili through so today's needs to
:09:56. > :09:59.go away and get worn down, a bit of a massage, it is only 200 metres but
:10:00. > :10:06.at that speed it takes a bit out of you. Not only the physical aspect
:10:07. > :10:09.but mentally, getting up for the 200, so much at stake and it is so
:10:10. > :10:14.competitive as some of these races are this weekend. Adam has a point
:10:15. > :10:20.to prove to himself, has not had the best start to the season, still
:10:21. > :10:23.recovering from that awful hamstring injury so he needs sharpness and
:10:24. > :10:28.needs to find that turnover of speed again. Let's look at the race, he
:10:29. > :10:34.got out well, it is difficult to tell it what is essentially a
:10:35. > :10:42.semifinal he is so far ahead of everybody else. He is but when you
:10:43. > :10:45.have been racing lightly it is important to try and repeat what you
:10:46. > :10:50.have been doing in training and what he remember and what you feel. It
:10:51. > :10:53.ought to be the great execution of a race and that was not too far off
:10:54. > :10:59.but as you said nice and easy and comfortable. He very much those he
:11:00. > :11:06.has to perform in the final, some events are strong, despite the fact
:11:07. > :11:09.Blake is not running and James Ellington, he ran in the 100
:11:10. > :11:15.yesterday, we will show it surely so don't miss it, he still needs to
:11:16. > :11:19.produce. Still needs to produce a performance and not only to try and
:11:20. > :11:25.book his place for Rio but also to prove to himself that he is going in
:11:26. > :11:29.the right direction. What I like about Adam, for all of the difficult
:11:30. > :11:34.times he has had, the trauma last year, the smile on his face, it is
:11:35. > :11:39.like he is a novice at Fleet at his first Championships. He has come
:11:40. > :11:44.from football so in terms of trading days, he probably is a novice
:11:45. > :11:48.compared to someone like Doyle and others. He is still learning and
:11:49. > :11:54.still feeling his way and will probably be wondering why people
:11:55. > :12:00.adore him so much, it is that smile and we know the potential that is
:12:01. > :12:07.there. No Blake as I mentioned, 95 he has done this year, that is a big
:12:08. > :12:10.disappointments but in terms of the selection and for the selectors, it
:12:11. > :12:18.gives the maroon problem doesn't think was like it does. The whole
:12:19. > :12:22.point is for people to show up and beds to heads of some important and
:12:23. > :12:28.when you have your two fastest runners not showing up, it gives
:12:29. > :12:33.them a real dilemma because they have to prove fitness, they have the
:12:34. > :12:40.qualifying marks but then what do you do should James Ellington who I
:12:41. > :12:44.think is showing up in the next round heats, whether he will get the
:12:45. > :12:50.place or whether Adam will. It makes a very tricky indeed. Mitchell Blake
:12:51. > :12:57.has been told that in his same prove his fitness and form because he has
:12:58. > :13:04.been running in America and baby the European Championships are an
:13:05. > :13:09.option? -- maybe. They have been very lukewarm, it is a good way of
:13:10. > :13:16.putting it about who can and cannot compete in those championships. In
:13:17. > :13:17.his case very much necessary that he should show his going in the right
:13:18. > :13:24.direction. Time for heat number two. We can look at the start list, this
:13:25. > :13:51.the easier of the three. Just to remind you, the top two
:13:52. > :14:03.going to the finals later. Chris Stone 21-year-old, indoor champion
:14:04. > :14:06.this year. Yet to break 21 seconds. Sam Landsborough, the Northern
:14:07. > :14:14.champion, those northern Championships three weeks ago, new
:14:15. > :14:17.personal best at 21.33, James Alaka ran yesterday, looking good and not
:14:18. > :14:29.too far away from the qualifying mark. Personal best is inside 21.
:14:30. > :14:31.Elliott Powell of Leicester. Reece Prescod, the 220 rods in lane four
:14:32. > :14:45.and five, Powell and Prescott. And Confidence Lawson, again a
:14:46. > :14:51.semifinal in the 100 metres. And right on the inside of Lane two, a
:14:52. > :15:03.very talented youngster, Connor Wood, very good at the 200 and 400
:15:04. > :15:10.metres. 47, 45 and 21 point 08. The amount of people who have hit the
:15:11. > :15:17.qualifying mark in the 200 metres, it sometimes looks a bit soft
:15:18. > :15:21.compared to other events. But we have quite a few who are not hit the
:15:22. > :15:28.opportunity, you never know one of these guys may get the final.
:15:29. > :15:40.Top two to go through them. Started pretty well, James Alaka and the
:15:41. > :15:50.inside. Connor Wood trying to get himself in the race. Rhys Prescott
:15:51. > :15:56.starting to come through. It is Rhys Prescott who comes away. Elliott
:15:57. > :16:06.Powell gets ahead of him. 20.80, the winning time. James Alaka went out
:16:07. > :16:13.quickly. Ran a very good bend and then faded as Rhys Prescott came
:16:14. > :16:19.into it. Rhys Prescott, showing he has set a personal best. Elliott
:16:20. > :16:27.Powell, the 20-year-old coming through to take second spot. I was
:16:28. > :16:32.thinking about the opportunity these youngsters have with some of the big
:16:33. > :16:38.names out. But Prescod looks good. When he comes down the final 40
:16:39. > :16:46.metres, look at the rhythm. Nice, bouncy. Looks really control. A time
:16:47. > :16:54.of 20.8 and he didn't run a particularly tough bend. Little bit
:16:55. > :17:01.of adrenaline, you never know what can happen. This still makes the
:17:02. > :17:11.event exciting, even though we have had a couple of big major
:17:12. > :17:25.withdrawals. The long jump, Daniel Gardner in round one. 7.59, the best
:17:26. > :17:31.so far. Gardener, north of England champion in the long jump.
:17:32. > :17:36.Perfection on the board. A faction behind the plasticine. It looks a
:17:37. > :17:42.long way into the pit. It looks like it will threaten the lead. 7.67 into
:17:43. > :17:48.first place in the early stages. Five jumps remaining. Chris
:17:49. > :17:55.Tomlinson said this may be his last competition. 34 years of age now.
:17:56. > :18:08.What can he do in this first round? That looks closer to seven metres
:18:09. > :18:14.than eight. He has jumped 8.35. Way behind the board, so some
:18:15. > :18:21.adjustments to be made. Seven point 20. What is wrong with that, other
:18:22. > :18:29.than the 20 centimetres or so behind the plasticine. Lacking a bit of
:18:30. > :18:37.height, maybe? Chris, 7.20 and fourth place at the end of the first
:18:38. > :18:44.round. Looks like Chris's dad is coaching him. The men's high jumpers
:18:45. > :18:52.are out. Yesterday it was the chance for the women high jumpers to show
:18:53. > :19:03.what they could do and the women's pole vault is as well. Representing
:19:04. > :19:07.Britain in the Olympics has been a childhood dream for Morgan Lake. She
:19:08. > :19:14.hasn't quite got heptathlon events, but she will
:19:15. > :19:20.still be going to rear, if only in the high jump. Her nerves well and
:19:21. > :19:28.truly conquered. I was really nervous in the cool room. It is not
:19:29. > :19:33.about the height, but getting as high as you can in the medals.
:19:34. > :19:39.Championship performance, always a bit different. Happy to get the win.
:19:40. > :19:44.My mum doesn't usually watch my competitions and she was there
:19:45. > :19:49.today, so it was nice. It is very exciting. Holly was Bleasdale in
:19:50. > :19:53.2012. Her boyfriend proposed the day of the London Olympics final. Now
:19:54. > :20:03.she is a Bradshaw. She is Rio Grande. It is a good relief to know
:20:04. > :20:11.I am going now. Trying to get in the groove and getting more dieldrin, it
:20:12. > :20:17.is a big relief. Form wise, you showed some decent form. You know
:20:18. > :20:21.there is plenty more to come? I have been struggling with form in
:20:22. > :20:27.competition. I am jumping well in training, but poor in competition. I
:20:28. > :20:34.am confident when it comes to Rio, I will be able to perform. Just to
:20:35. > :20:38.tidy up the results of the second heat of the men's 200. Comfortable
:20:39. > :20:47.when for Rhys Prescott. Elliott Powell took second and James Alaka
:20:48. > :20:55.and Chris Stone will not be in the fastest losers' spots. Heat three is
:20:56. > :21:09.a bit stronger. You would look to the names of Danny Talbot and
:21:10. > :21:15.Zharnel Hughes. Evans had a run out in the 400 metres semifinal
:21:16. > :21:23.yesterday. Just outside 21 seconds this year for 200. Jordan
:21:24. > :21:31.Kirby-Polidore, former English schools champion in 2011. There is
:21:32. > :21:40.Leon Reid, Bristol and West athlete that ran for Northern Ireland in the
:21:41. > :21:45.Commonwealth Games. Zharnel Hughes, hasn't raced to much this season.
:21:46. > :21:49.When he has, a few meetings in Jamaica and Barbados. Fifth at the
:21:50. > :21:59.World Championships last year over this distance. Patrick Kari Kari,
:22:00. > :22:06.just outside 21 seconds, new personal best. Danny Talbot, so
:22:07. > :22:16.familiar with this track and a big competition as well. When this title
:22:17. > :22:23.two years ago. 21.32 in Geneva a couple of weeks ago and there was a
:22:24. > :22:37.strong wind against him. David Bolivar, semifinal at this distance.
:22:38. > :22:42.Christian Jones. Still just 18. Two to go through automatically from
:22:43. > :22:48.this one. I suspect if few will fancy their chances as the fastest
:22:49. > :22:55.loser. Two of those. 21 point 15 would get you in. Zharnel Hughes,
:22:56. > :23:01.the defending champion, the tall figure in lane five. First
:23:02. > :23:03.appearance in Europe this season. Danny Talbot will be hunting him
:23:04. > :23:19.down from lane three. The final heat of the men's 200
:23:20. > :23:27.metres. Zharnel Hughes, slow out up up -- slow out up the blocks.
:23:28. > :23:33.Zharnel Hughes with a lot of work to do. Danny Talbot is clear. Here
:23:34. > :23:38.comes Hughes now. Zharnel Hughes, just taking the second automatic
:23:39. > :23:43.place. Slight headwind, but no doubt who look the better there between
:23:44. > :23:52.Danny Talbot and Zharnel Hughes. Danny Talbot, a long way clear. If
:23:53. > :23:57.Zharnel Hughes was saving some for the tank but the final, it was a
:23:58. > :24:02.risky move. Danny Talbot will go through and will be a strong
:24:03. > :24:07.contender in the final. But Zharnel Hughes, the defending champion, in a
:24:08. > :24:15.bit of bother. He is through, but it did look good. Was a real contrast
:24:16. > :24:20.of performance. You expect Zharnel Hughes to be more aggressive around
:24:21. > :24:27.the bend. Remember last year. That is all we saw of him. Beautiful,
:24:28. > :24:31.easy running gait. But not so great today. Complete contrast in lane
:24:32. > :24:36.three. Danny Talbot out of the blocks. He is a real workhorse,
:24:37. > :24:40.Danny. Keeps his focus. That is important in the 200 metres, don't
:24:41. > :24:46.worry about what is happening around you. Keep your eyes on the job. And
:24:47. > :24:51.the job, but this young man, was qualification. It was a very good
:24:52. > :24:55.piece of running. Sprinters are determined to look to the side to
:24:56. > :25:03.say they are comfortable in their environment. I think Leon Reid will
:25:04. > :25:09.go through as one of the fastest losers. Zharnel Hughes, a rueful
:25:10. > :25:16.smile. Because commonly is through, but he has a lot of improvement.
:25:17. > :25:23.This man was a long way clear, Danny Talbot. The man who won this title
:25:24. > :25:28.last year was fifth in the World Championships and Zharnel Hughes is
:25:29. > :25:35.nowhere near that form. He will be in the final, but a lot of work to
:25:36. > :25:46.do. Round two of the long jump will stop Hamilton, chasing 7.67. It is a
:25:47. > :25:55.big jump. Think he likes it. Second spot is 7.50 nine. Hamilton, 23
:25:56. > :26:03.years of age now. Good height, it may be slight forward rotation,
:26:04. > :26:15.difficult to tell. 7.56, Hamilton. Goes into third place. Still to come
:26:16. > :26:25.this afternoon, we have the men's 800 metres. Michael Rimmer looking
:26:26. > :26:32.for a place on the plane to rear. Then we have the steeplechase. In
:26:33. > :26:38.the 1500 metres, C Bryce against Chris O'Hare. That is over three and
:26:39. > :26:43.three quarters laps of the track. Lots to look forward to, including
:26:44. > :26:51.the final of the men's 200 metres at 4:45 p.m.. Denise, let's analyse
:26:52. > :26:58.what we saw in those three heats. We have this young lad, nobody knew
:26:59. > :27:04.much about, Prescod, who nobody knew much about, ambled through. Use
:27:05. > :27:12.standard here thinking, who is his coach? Can we get some more
:27:13. > :27:20.technical information to him. As a specimen, as a runner, it was
:27:21. > :27:27.dutiful. You look at Usain Bolt, the height and the power, he looks like
:27:28. > :27:33.a strong kid and I am assuming he hasn't done much training over the
:27:34. > :27:37.years. He looked like a talent to me. The man who trains with Usain
:27:38. > :27:41.Bolt, Zharnel Hughes, Danny Talbot won it and Zharnel Hughes was
:27:42. > :27:45.struggling, was he trying to be too clever? Contrast to the young kid
:27:46. > :27:51.who looked fresh and ready to run, Zharnel Hughes did not look like
:27:52. > :27:57.that. It was like he was giving everything. Good stride length but
:27:58. > :28:03.there doesn't seem to be any power. It was all just frequency and turn
:28:04. > :28:10.our, but nothing very impressive. We will see in the final. Yesterday was
:28:11. > :28:14.a great final over 100 metres. The wind was blowing and it created
:28:15. > :28:21.something special. This is the start list for the men's 100 metres. As I
:28:22. > :28:36.say, the wind was blowing and they went quick.
:28:37. > :28:55.James Allington trying to get back. It is going to be incredibly tight.
:28:56. > :29:03.9.90 four. It was very, very close. No doubt about the winner. I think
:29:04. > :29:12.James Allington might have just pipped second spot. We felt the
:29:13. > :29:18.breeze in the stands. We knew it was going to be quick and illegal. But
:29:19. > :29:29.what a race it was, ignore the times. Watch Ellington finish. That
:29:30. > :29:34.is a big story for James Allington. -- Ellington. Confirmation of the
:29:35. > :29:45.result, three men under ten seconds but the time isn't legal because of
:29:46. > :29:51.the wind. We will have another period to wait until selections are
:29:52. > :29:56.confirmed on July the 11th. What a performance from these two guys,
:29:57. > :30:01.doing the business. James, UK champion, but more importantly you
:30:02. > :30:13.are on the plane to Rio and a sub ten second time as well. I felt the
:30:14. > :30:21.guys coming back at me but I had to push towards the line. The goal was
:30:22. > :30:28.to make it on board the plane. I managed to do that and running that
:30:29. > :30:31.time was a bonus. I am happy with today. Tremendous performance.
:30:32. > :30:34.James, you're 100-metre form that day has been fantastic. Was it
:30:35. > :30:39.within you today? Definitely, going on previous years I have always done
:30:40. > :30:49.it too early, I went for the safe option and did the two. I thought I
:30:50. > :30:50.would jump in the mix. It paid off. Tremendous performance,
:30:51. > :30:56.congratulations, you are both heading to Rio.
:30:57. > :30:58.What can you say about a picture like that?
:30:59. > :31:08.LAUGHING What do you make of it? Apart from
:31:09. > :31:12.the lovely decorations: that was one of the best races I've seen from
:31:13. > :31:20.long time. James Ellington, what a surprise that was. We did not expect
:31:21. > :31:26.about it today and any does that and then he does that. For James I think
:31:27. > :31:30.it feels like he has been in the game for a little while and has been
:31:31. > :31:33.to a lot of championships, has participated in relays but that 100
:31:34. > :31:44.metres for him would do him the world of good, this confidence is
:31:45. > :31:50.soaring. There was the lovely moment when he caught the winner. Very
:31:51. > :31:58.dramatic. I heard the times comes through and I thought this is
:31:59. > :32:04.fantastic. Slightly disappointing for the guys with the wind but
:32:05. > :32:08.irrelevant, the two James's... CJ you thought would be top two, he has
:32:09. > :32:13.that nervous wait now and has probably done enough but does he
:32:14. > :32:20.have to prove himself? I don't know, the dangerous is to overcook it. He
:32:21. > :32:25.has proved time and time again that he is up for the challenge and
:32:26. > :32:29.deserves a place. It is important the selectors communicate to him
:32:30. > :32:35.exactly what he needs to do because what he doesn't want is some sense
:32:36. > :32:38.of uncertainty. Do I need to beat this athlete that athletes. Let him
:32:39. > :32:43.know so he could get preparations right. That is right, the athletes
:32:44. > :32:51.need to know if they are on the cusp, the last thing you want is you
:32:52. > :32:58.go into a heavy stint of training and people say we need one more
:32:59. > :33:07.race. An interesting line up to the men's 800 metres. Ben Greenwood 23
:33:08. > :33:12.and Anthony Whiteman over 40. He is the compete with us. He has been
:33:13. > :33:15.around a very long time. It's great to see athletes like that still here
:33:16. > :33:22.and still within a shot of doing something special. The man to look
:33:23. > :33:28.out for is Michael Rimmer. Anthony Whiteman quite a performance and 44
:33:29. > :33:33.years old, this might be a comment on the state of British etude Rita
:33:34. > :33:38.running but we leave it at that. We all have a lot of time for Michael
:33:39. > :33:45.Rimmer, he has not achieved what we hope and thought he would though.
:33:46. > :33:49.That's a fair analysis. The one thing with Michael is he puts his
:33:50. > :33:53.heart on the line. He trains hard and has been here a long time. It
:33:54. > :34:02.would be great if you could book his place but he has his work cut out.
:34:03. > :34:15.Just before that the results of the 200 metres 30s. A good run from
:34:16. > :34:25.Danny Talbot. Leon Reid has gone through as one of the two fastest
:34:26. > :34:31.losers. Interesting comments there. I agree with the state of men's 800
:34:32. > :34:40.metres: Michael Rimmer will be hoping to go to his third Olympics
:34:41. > :34:43.he is running consistently well. Anthony Whiteman wearing his masters
:34:44. > :34:48.less, over the age of 40 and very proud of that and he would say he is
:34:49. > :34:56.there because they are not good enough at the moment. Only three men
:34:57. > :35:10.in the UK have run under 147. -- 1.4 seven. Some good talented.
:35:11. > :35:19.Sean Molloy from Tonbridge. A 20-year-old still improving although
:35:20. > :35:27.his personal best goes all the way back to 2012. Elliot Giles,
:35:28. > :35:32.Birchfield Harriers, has real potential, won the under 23
:35:33. > :35:39.championships last week. Jamie Webb, very good indoor season. From
:35:40. > :35:48.Liverpool, won the championships and as I said three men under 1.47 and
:35:49. > :35:53.he is one of them. James, a very strong 800 metre runner. Then
:35:54. > :36:00.Michael Rimmer who looks arena yesterday. As Jonathan said, has the
:36:01. > :36:09.two qualifying marks and easily the best eight age metre runner in
:36:10. > :36:15.Britain at the moment. This guy never seems to have any problem
:36:16. > :36:24.Anthony Whiteman. I love seeing him chasing people down with rope gusto
:36:25. > :36:34.to make it through to the final. 17-year-old Ben Greenwood from
:36:35. > :36:46.Perth. The 17-year-old, a huge talent, new personal best 1.49.50
:36:47. > :36:47.stop he makes the final. Michael Rimmer looking to confirm his place,
:36:48. > :36:57.seven men. He doesn't need to do anything here,
:36:58. > :37:00.no need to take it out hard, will be interesting to see if anyone fancies
:37:01. > :37:06.pushing on and even getting somewhere near the time 1.46 would
:37:07. > :37:14.be personal best for everyone but Rimmer. Always good to see some
:37:15. > :37:18.young talent coming through. Keeping an eye on him to see if he wants to
:37:19. > :37:23.give it a go to get the qualifying time. Dropping towards the back of
:37:24. > :37:27.the film, even behind Anthony Whiteman who is right where we
:37:28. > :37:35.expect him to be, just hanging on on the first lab animals close them
:37:36. > :37:40.down on the next. If Ben Greenwood can run the time... Ben Greenwood at
:37:41. > :37:46.the back moving alongside, the oldest and the youngest at the back.
:37:47. > :37:50.James Bowness trying to make it a strong run here. Michael Rimmer
:37:51. > :37:57.perfectly placed. Can Elliot Giles strop sometime here? Jamie Webb
:37:58. > :38:04.moving the shoulder. Looking to push things on here. It is Michael Rimmer
:38:05. > :38:09.who glides past. Starting to pull away from the other spell. Michael
:38:10. > :38:14.Rimmer has a little glance, he just wants to keep control of this.
:38:15. > :38:23.Elliot Giles put similar pressure, still not three flying here so Webb
:38:24. > :38:28.trying to hang on. Rimmer looking relaxed but has Elliot Giles got
:38:29. > :38:31.anything here to try to push him on the home straight, he is not finding
:38:32. > :38:40.anything, Helix across an Elliot Giles are starting to kick away.
:38:41. > :38:45.Webb is kicking away, Elliot Giles take the title. Then Jamie Webb.
:38:46. > :38:50.Unbelievably Michael Rimmer has not managed to do the simplest of
:38:51. > :38:58.things, or what looked like the sinister things on paper. -- the
:38:59. > :39:02.simplest of things on paper. He has a qualifying time but that will not
:39:03. > :39:07.mean the selectors have to pick him and he now will have an anxious wait
:39:08. > :39:11.to stop what did you make of that slow race? It looked like he was
:39:12. > :39:15.cruising at when he put his foot down nothing there? It's hard to say
:39:16. > :39:19.he did anything wrong other than not having anything left in his legs. He
:39:20. > :39:24.was making the right moves and was on the right place, all you to do
:39:25. > :39:27.was defend it. It looked like he could not find the reserves in the
:39:28. > :39:31.home straight and started to panic and tightened up even more. The
:39:32. > :39:37.other two sensed it so the minute Elliot Giles sense that, Jamie Webb
:39:38. > :39:41.knew what he had to do. Let's take nothing away from Elliot Giles, very
:39:42. > :39:48.proudly putting on-the-fly, he is the UK champion. That is a big
:39:49. > :39:51.surprise here, Giles was not in contention unless your job is a
:39:52. > :39:58.massive personal best in terms of Olympic selection but he can now
:39:59. > :40:06.going and have a go at it. This led to business as usual for Rimmer. He
:40:07. > :40:10.is checking around, looking for danger, look as though he's about to
:40:11. > :40:15.put his foot down but when he does, he doesn't get the answer he was
:40:16. > :40:19.expecting. You can see his face and shoulders tighten up an Elliot Giles
:40:20. > :40:23.moves past and, he panics even more, Jamie Webb sees that and seizes the
:40:24. > :40:33.initiative and knows he can pull in. Michael Rimmer knows his chance of
:40:34. > :40:39.going to Rio is in jeopardy. Sometimes, Michael is an experienced
:40:40. > :40:45.guide, I do know if you relax too much and in these types of race if
:40:46. > :40:49.you give these guys something and you run the slide, to go out and run
:40:50. > :40:54.a bit harder, it would have put them under pressure instead of himself. I
:40:55. > :40:57.wonder if maybe he was carrying something, the only thing from the
:40:58. > :41:03.side angle was his left leg dragging a little bit. He has had back
:41:04. > :41:08.problems in the past, maybe he was not getting the fire he expected. He
:41:09. > :41:12.is pacing around like a caged tiger but anyway he is obvious or not
:41:13. > :41:17.happy but a man who is very happy is Elliot Giles, the UK champion.
:41:18. > :41:23.I can update your Michael as well, he is devastated, he doesn't want to
:41:24. > :41:35.talk and we understand. Elliott is a happy man. Can you put it into
:41:36. > :41:41.words? I can't... I saw you getting emotional after the finish and now
:41:42. > :41:47.you are in the flag, what did you imagine what is possible today? I
:41:48. > :41:55.don't know what to say. I'm just so grateful. I don't ever think I would
:41:56. > :41:59.be British champion, I'm lost for words, completely lost for words.
:42:00. > :42:04.I'm so happy right now, I wish I could complete the words. Sorry I
:42:05. > :42:09.can't even speak properly. It's OK we love the emotion, it shows what
:42:10. > :42:12.it means. Michael is disappointed but when you saw him at the front he
:42:13. > :42:20.thought it was a foregone conclusion? What were your thoughts
:42:21. > :42:28.was worth I knew if I was in the bag I could go on... I knew when I had
:42:29. > :42:33.300 to go... On the down straight and the back straight I was
:42:34. > :42:39.confident and I got onto the back straight and I thought I had one at
:42:40. > :42:42.and I was able to kick again and I maintained and about 30 metres
:42:43. > :42:47.before the line it crossed my mind I could be British champion and I got
:42:48. > :42:52.quite scared and it hit me just before across the line and it was
:42:53. > :42:59.the best feeling ever. I wish I could put it into words. I feel like
:43:00. > :42:59.I'm worth a million bucks right now. Congratulations tremendous
:43:00. > :43:11.performance. That emotion is something we love to
:43:12. > :43:16.see, someone who has done something special in terms of his performance
:43:17. > :43:20.in winning the UK Championships. Maybe not yet able to make the team
:43:21. > :43:27.for Rio but what a day for Elliot Giles. Jamie Webb getting ahead and
:43:28. > :43:30.while Michael Rimmer has an anxious wait, he does have a qualifying time
:43:31. > :43:39.and could be named Birt automatic altercation has eluded him here.
:43:40. > :43:49.The men's pole vault is all done and dusted, here's a look at the Kear
:43:50. > :43:55.assaults. -- key results. This was Lewis, his third attempt.
:43:56. > :44:09.Unfortunately Steve Lewis fifth in the last Olympic Games but there was
:44:10. > :44:12.this man, Luke cuts. -- Luke cuts with multiple clearances and it
:44:13. > :44:18.looked as though he would be the sole competitor in the pole vault:
:44:19. > :44:25.Olympic Games. Steve Lewis in second place.
:44:26. > :44:44.We move onto the 3000 steeplechase. One name stands out and one figure
:44:45. > :44:48.should dominate, Lenny wait. Really she is out and clear in this, may
:44:49. > :44:57.have some competition with Rosie Clarke. -- Lennie Waite. Some events
:44:58. > :45:03.there are a great strength and depth and in this one, Gemili is head and
:45:04. > :45:18.shoulders above the rest. -- Lennie Waite.
:45:19. > :45:36.Born in Paisley, Scottish father, English mother. Rosie Clarke. And
:45:37. > :45:47.that is Nicole 's Taylor. Stacy Taylor is also in here. The
:45:48. > :45:54.Kilmarnock athlete. Stacy Taylor is not on the start line. Couple of
:45:55. > :46:07.athletes missing. But Lennie Waite has brought her personal best. 9.35
:46:08. > :46:11.this season. She had the IAAF standard for the World Championships
:46:12. > :46:16.last year but wasn't given qualification. Wasn't selected by
:46:17. > :46:23.the GB selectors. Looking forward to Rio, if she should get there. She
:46:24. > :46:28.will have far too much for the rest of the field here. Paula Radcliffe,
:46:29. > :46:36.Rosie Clarke, good 1500 metre pedigree. If you have good pace over
:46:37. > :46:40.1500, are the athletes reluctant to try the steeplechase? But there must
:46:41. > :46:49.be an avenue for a few good athletes to try it and think it might be the
:46:50. > :46:55.event for them? Absolutely. That is what you see with the strength of
:46:56. > :46:59.the canyons. They see it as an individual event, rather than I am
:47:00. > :47:02.not good enough over the other distances. They do concentrate
:47:03. > :47:06.specifically on it. But if you are struggling and not making the team
:47:07. > :47:12.over the 1500 metres, or 5000 metres, try the 3000 steeplechase if
:47:13. > :47:21.your body can cope with it. One of the athletes had injuries and she
:47:22. > :47:28.has had to leave it. That is the downside of it. They come through
:47:29. > :47:34.the water jump together. Liz McLaughlin said her body can't stand
:47:35. > :47:40.up to the constant impact. She was down at 9.35, a lot of training done
:47:41. > :47:44.inside, training in the pool. The impact of training on the track and
:47:45. > :47:51.going over the barriers was too difficult. In a lot of her training,
:47:52. > :47:57.she only went over the barriers when she raced. There is a brittle edge.
:47:58. > :48:03.Lennie Waite is down to about the same times, 9.35 this season. You
:48:04. > :48:10.want to find another ten seconds but she is the best Britain has at the
:48:11. > :48:16.moment. With the steps forward she has taken this year, she is showing
:48:17. > :48:20.the potential of finding the ten seconds. It will put her into
:48:21. > :48:26.contention in Diamond League races and with the hope of being in the
:48:27. > :48:29.final. We have seen the level of steeplechasing the women globally
:48:30. > :48:33.taking huge step forward, but she could be up there challenging and
:48:34. > :48:43.getting into the final is the first step. It is still a fairly new event
:48:44. > :48:53.in women's terms. I suppose in the last 20 years, it has come in, not
:48:54. > :48:58.even that. It is new and that is why times are improving all the time.
:48:59. > :49:04.Again it is an event which women could try. The key thing is, because
:49:05. > :49:09.it is a new event, you haven't got youngsters who have grown up wanting
:49:10. > :49:12.to be a steeplechase. They have moved from other bands. Now we are
:49:13. > :49:25.getting the first generation who have had it as an event to blame
:49:26. > :49:34.for. -- aim for. Come on, Chris Tomlinson. 34 years of age, looking
:49:35. > :49:39.to dig deep and improve on the 7.20 first round. Might be a slight
:49:40. > :49:52.improvement. The lead is still Daniel Gardiner. We are now in the
:49:53. > :49:57.third round. It looks ragged. Fifth in the Athens 2004 Olympic Games.
:49:58. > :50:05.Better height on that, I have to say. That was better. Something to
:50:06. > :50:19.go with. Smile from him. Improvement, fifth place, seven
:50:20. > :50:23.point 43 and five jumps remaining. Nothing starting that will threaten
:50:24. > :50:29.the qualifying time unless they pick it up now. Into the home straight
:50:30. > :50:36.again and also in the FirstGroup of three is Louise Webb from
:50:37. > :50:44.Southampton junior bronze-medallist. And Rosie Clarke, who we expected to
:50:45. > :50:49.be pushing on. The raised they are running is not close to the
:50:50. > :50:54.qualifying time, but close to the personal best of rosy wrap, who is
:50:55. > :51:03.having a greater run out there today. -- Louise Webb. Rosie Clarke,
:51:04. > :51:08.European indoor finalists last year in Prague. Fifth in the Diamond
:51:09. > :51:17.League meeting here over the 1500 meetings. She has plenty of pace as
:51:18. > :51:24.1500 metre runner. Hoping the pace doesn't lift too much. She wants a
:51:25. > :51:29.quick time but in terms of winning the title, if it remains steady and
:51:30. > :51:34.slow, she has a chance. She absolutely has. It is very blustery
:51:35. > :51:38.out there today so they are sticking together. Many times you race at
:51:39. > :51:44.Birmingham, it isn't windy, but the longer they stay in the pack, you
:51:45. > :51:54.will draw the benefits from that and Lennie Waite knows she can raise the
:51:55. > :52:02.pace and get away from them easily. Little stutter from Rosie Clarke.
:52:03. > :52:08.Lennie Waite, in front. I wonder when she will begin to lift the
:52:09. > :52:15.place. Louise Webb, hanging on well. She is doing everything she can to
:52:16. > :52:26.ensure a new personal best. If she can live with these two. We will get
:52:27. > :52:34.an idea when we see the two Kalama to split. It is hard to judge when
:52:35. > :52:43.the water jump is on the outside. But it should be coming up that they
:52:44. > :52:48.stay on that pace. We know the form Lennie Waite is in, she ran her new
:52:49. > :52:56.personal best in Portland in Oregon. A lot of training and studying. She
:52:57. > :53:02.is at college in the United States as well and works over there are a
:53:03. > :53:07.lot of. At the moment, leading this group of three. Rosie Clarke is
:53:08. > :53:11.tucked in behind them. Louise Webb, 25-year-old with a personal best of
:53:12. > :53:16.10.10. Tritium much the same pace. Pretty much spot on. You would
:53:17. > :53:22.expect to see Lennie Waite stretch it out, as she is doing. Maybe she
:53:23. > :53:29.was waiting until the last kilometre to make it into a bit up tempo.
:53:30. > :53:33.Rosie Clarke is working hard go with her. Louise Webb, sorry, struggling.
:53:34. > :53:37.But hanging on at the moment. 800 metres to go. Lennie Waite, Rosie
:53:38. > :53:43.Clarke and Louise Webb still going. Looking for a big personal best and
:53:44. > :53:50.you suspect the battle for the title be between the two women in front.
:53:51. > :53:55.The pace has not been brutal. As a 1500 metre now, she will fancy their
:53:56. > :54:01.chances. Lennie Waite, tries to lift it again. Rosie Clarke moved a bit
:54:02. > :54:11.wider, to cite the barrier easier, but also she is letting them know
:54:12. > :54:17.she is still there, she is taking those barriers better than Lennie
:54:18. > :54:22.Waite. At the moment, just under six and had metres remaining. Lennie
:54:23. > :54:29.Waite has come to the water again. Rosie Clarke moving out in front at
:54:30. > :54:33.the moment. Louise Webb is still there. We are having a real race.
:54:34. > :54:37.Lennie Waite, highway and clear. The best steeplechaser in Great Britain
:54:38. > :54:43.at the moment. But she is a couple of metres behind Rosie Clarke at the
:54:44. > :54:50.moment. She is focusing her eyes on the back of Rosie Clarke and trying
:54:51. > :54:54.to stay with her. Hopefully she feels she has something else and
:54:55. > :55:01.then she will move back in front. But Rosie Clarke was not going to
:55:02. > :55:08.let that time slip away, she has her personal best in her sights. Louise
:55:09. > :55:15.Webb is doing her best to stay on to these two. Top two will be enough
:55:16. > :55:19.for Lennie Waite to book her place in Rio. But she wants this title.
:55:20. > :55:23.Rosie Clarke alongside her once again. It seems every time she goes
:55:24. > :55:32.down that back straight, she does struggle. Every time she takes that
:55:33. > :55:39.aria with 300 metres to go, Lennie Waite struggles a bit. Every time
:55:40. > :55:44.she tries to lift and click, Rosie Clarke responds. Rosie Clarke has
:55:45. > :55:49.gone round the outside. She has enough to go round the outside of
:55:50. > :55:55.Lennie Waite. They take the water very well. I am not sure Lennie
:55:56. > :56:00.Waite has anything to give. She looks around. Rosie Clarke to the
:56:01. > :56:05.final barrier. This was supposed to be Lennie Waite's title. Almost a
:56:06. > :56:10.smile now from Rosie Clarke. Lennie Waite has nothing left. Rosie Clarke
:56:11. > :56:14.is going to take the title. She is the UK champion, the 3000 metres
:56:15. > :56:20.steeplechase. Great run from Louise Webb, who will have a big personal
:56:21. > :56:25.best. But the smile, celebration and the victory belongs to Rosie Clarke.
:56:26. > :56:31.She shadowed Lennie Waite all the way and had enough to take the
:56:32. > :56:37.title. You can see what it means. It is a lock-up pure delight. Taking a
:56:38. > :56:43.risk moving to a new event. This could be a new event which could be
:56:44. > :56:50.a whole new start. She has run a personal best I couple of seconds.
:56:51. > :56:54.It is more of the manner that will give her confidence. Whether she
:56:55. > :57:00.gets to qualifying standards in the next 15 days, remains to be seen.
:57:01. > :57:04.Lennie Waite should be qualifying. There is a girl who has found a new
:57:05. > :57:12.event. Lennie Waite probably stunned. We all expected her to win
:57:13. > :57:18.this title today. But Rosie Clarke, it is celebration and surprise. A
:57:19. > :57:25.personal best, taking the title. Louise Webb has run a big personal
:57:26. > :57:31.best of under ten minutes. Just over the water for the last time and
:57:32. > :57:36.Rosie Clarke, you could see she almost began to realise what was
:57:37. > :57:40.about to happen. The confidence when she realised she was going away
:57:41. > :57:46.gives her more energy. She was rapidly increasing the gap over
:57:47. > :57:51.Lennie Waite. Her last kilometre, she may not have had the qualifying
:57:52. > :57:58.time but she ran the last kilometre at the place she would need to to
:57:59. > :58:04.secure the time easily. Rosie Clarke takes the victory. She is the UK
:58:05. > :58:09.champion with a personal best, head of Lennie Waite and Louise Webb in
:58:10. > :58:14.third lace. All about the victory, forget about Rio. She may have done
:58:15. > :58:19.something to achieve that, but this is about becoming the UK champion.
:58:20. > :58:25.She is down with Lennie Waite talking to fill. Delighted, change
:58:26. > :58:34.of events and a British title. What it meant when you cross the line?
:58:35. > :58:40.Over the moon, it has been a really hard process, but I am so happy.
:58:41. > :58:44.Andrew was saying at the end of the commentary, people chasing real
:58:45. > :58:48.places, but sometimes it is about becoming British champion for the
:58:49. > :58:56.first time? Everything is at a different stage. This was one of my
:58:57. > :59:02.big challenges for the year. I would like to chase for Rio, obviously,
:59:03. > :59:07.but we will see. You will be going to Rio, congratulations. I cannot
:59:08. > :59:15.believe it. I am disappointed I couldn't win today. But I felt the
:59:16. > :59:22.weight of the world on my shoulders. I had two people with me, not in a
:59:23. > :59:28.great place, wanting to avoid messing things up and get to the
:59:29. > :59:33.finish line. I have my ticket, but I was disappointed I didn't win today.
:59:34. > :59:42.No such show selection problem, you are there. Such a relief. Last year
:59:43. > :59:51.didn't go down as well, but I am proud of myself for not letting it
:59:52. > :59:58.make me quit or doubt myself. To get back on the horse and make my way to
:59:59. > :59:59.Rio, it is the best feeling ever. Congratulations. And Rosie,
:00:00. > :00:11.congratulations on the title. Rosie Clarke with a victory. Many
:00:12. > :00:21.congratulations to Louise Webb, new personal best. Really interesting as
:00:22. > :00:27.was the men's 800 before. We can speak to Steve Cram now, let's talk
:00:28. > :00:30.about the steeplechase, Lennie Waite, felt the weight of not being
:00:31. > :00:37.selected for Beijing altered the performance? It was almost coming
:00:38. > :00:41.back to Michael Rimmer Haswell, when you look the list and you think
:00:42. > :00:51.you're better than everyone on the list, it can be a negative thing. In
:00:52. > :00:55.the sense that the only bad thing, something bad can happen, you could
:00:56. > :01:04.ship over a barrier so you are not racing how you normally are. That is
:01:05. > :01:09.what happened to Rimmer, not executed properly, if he had run a
:01:10. > :01:14.good hard race as normal he would have been fine. Struggled in that
:01:15. > :01:22.respect. But well done to Rosie Clarke. In terms of Rosie Clarke and
:01:23. > :01:29.selection, you need to be selected to times, but an athlete like that
:01:30. > :01:34.who has changed events, maybe you look at one and the potential? There
:01:35. > :01:40.is the option if someone gives one qualifying mark that they can select
:01:41. > :01:46.them come July. We have been talking a lot about automatic selection, the
:01:47. > :01:52.top two marks here. She might have the chance to run one: she is
:01:53. > :01:57.improving all the time and is developing athlete in a new event.
:01:58. > :02:06.They may well look favourably upon it. In terms of Michael Rimmer, you
:02:07. > :02:10.wonder if selection might be too far, do you look at him and think we
:02:11. > :02:16.will give him another chance or perhaps not, I don't know? Neither
:02:17. > :02:23.do why. I think in a year where there were other options, his chance
:02:24. > :02:27.might have gone. Sadly we don't have too much in terms of options at that
:02:28. > :02:33.event, that doesn't mean they will look kindly because he has had a
:02:34. > :02:36.good career. He didn't deliver today an type of race where he should be
:02:37. > :02:42.able to deliver, he will know that more than anybody else. He hasn't
:02:43. > :02:47.made it, he hasn't exactly given the selectors a headache. If he does get
:02:48. > :02:59.selected in July and then he would have a lot to thank them. White will
:03:00. > :03:06.wait to see on that, Chris O'Hare to Charlie Grice? Head-to-head. Lee
:03:07. > :03:10.Emanuel tends to run well in America has just missed the qualifying time
:03:11. > :03:17.and did not looked so good in the heat. Certainly Chris O'Hare and
:03:18. > :03:21.Charlie are in the book seats, they have qualifying times and won a
:03:22. > :03:24.finish in the top. Jake has been there or thereabouts and I think he
:03:25. > :03:29.will want to upset the party today and hope you can get the qualifying
:03:30. > :03:32.mark so really looking forward to. The great tactical race we are in
:03:33. > :03:42.store for and it will come down to who has the best kick I think.
:03:43. > :03:49.There is Charlie and Jake next to one another. The two Norwich and
:03:50. > :03:57.very well and Jake has run a lot of races this year. His dad is doing
:03:58. > :04:01.the announcing here in the arena. They took the chance to send over
:04:02. > :04:07.for a race in America where he has certainly run a lot better than he
:04:08. > :04:10.have so far. He was in the same heat is Charlie and look good as
:04:11. > :04:14.qualifying. Chris O'Hare looked very strong as well. And Tom Lancashire.
:04:15. > :04:33.There is the full list. A race full of the best talent, Joss
:04:34. > :04:41.Kerr from Edinburgh to. The junior champion. That might josh. There he
:04:42. > :04:46.is, good to see him in the final. Chris is the one who normally runs
:04:47. > :04:50.the better tactical race. That is the one thing you would put in his
:04:51. > :04:57.camp if you like to say Chris usually runs a very good smart race.
:04:58. > :05:04.Lee Emanuel knows he has it in him to run. Charlie Grice has a
:05:05. > :05:10.qualifying time, a great win in the international mile. At the end of
:05:11. > :05:16.May. As I said Jake popped over to the US to run in Boston. Ran a
:05:17. > :05:22.season 's best just outside the qualifying mark.
:05:23. > :05:33.And then we go all the way through Cameron Boyek, his British vest from
:05:34. > :05:40.his time at the European under 23 championships. It'll be interesting.
:05:41. > :05:46.I expect Tom Lancashire will want to leave it until the last 2-300. Tom
:05:47. > :05:54.at is best of course, a man who has won this title before. An intriguing
:05:55. > :05:58.men's 1500 metres final. Chris O'Hare and Charlie Grice with a
:05:59. > :05:59.chance to cement their place and Jake Wightman and Tom Lancashire
:06:00. > :06:12.hoping to get in the top two. Straightaway Charlie Grice going to
:06:13. > :06:17.control it and write on his shoulder Josh Kerr, the future to represent
:06:18. > :06:22.Great Britain in the world Junior Championships. Finished fiveth. He
:06:23. > :06:26.is out there to gain some championship experience and maybe
:06:27. > :06:34.see how he can put races back-to-back with a view to
:06:35. > :06:37.performing in the final. As Lee Emanuel decides not to hang around
:06:38. > :06:42.completely, he moves to the front but still looks slow. Jake Wightman
:06:43. > :06:46.moving up a bit so the main contenders, Tom Lancashire sitting
:06:47. > :06:50.off a bit. Scotland have a chance to have more people in the Olympic team
:06:51. > :06:57.than they have ever had before so Josh Kerr another one. Chris O'Hare,
:06:58. > :07:01.another Scot hoping to get it right here. What this does do is give all
:07:02. > :07:07.of the guys a good chance to learn those tactics of racing. Racing
:07:08. > :07:13.without pacemakers as it would be in a heat of a Championships and in the
:07:14. > :07:15.final. Some of them like you say are better than others. Chris O'Hare
:07:16. > :07:19.very good at making the right decisions under pressure and putting
:07:20. > :07:27.yourself in the right place to respond to any move as it happens.
:07:28. > :07:33.Charlie Grice a little boxed in. Tom is on the outside of that, almost
:07:34. > :07:39.like a box and you don't want to be in the middle. Two laps to go and
:07:40. > :07:46.Jake White with a little boxed in. Chris O'Hare will always use the
:07:47. > :07:48.elbows to get through. Just eases himself through the ant always
:07:49. > :07:53.putting yourself in the right position. Charlie on the inside,
:07:54. > :08:00.Jake Wightman, Tom Lancashire following and keeping an eye. The
:08:01. > :08:04.race has not got going yet. He comes Tom Lancashire, suspect he thinks he
:08:05. > :08:09.will have a better chance with a longer run for home. That is what we
:08:10. > :08:13.have seen in a couple of races, people moving away to make a move
:08:14. > :08:19.down the back straight and realise how windy it is. A bit of a stumble
:08:20. > :08:24.there, Chris O'Hare, his back legs caught up but nobody has gone down.
:08:25. > :08:33.Everything we said about Chris almost becoming, Lancashire on a
:08:34. > :08:38.good position. Charlie Grice looking for room, Jake Wightman in a great
:08:39. > :08:44.place as they hit the Bell, the five big names all here. This is a big
:08:45. > :08:50.sprint, who has the best 400 metre pace, that is what it is boiling
:08:51. > :08:53.down to here. Just over 300 to go. Chris O'Hare looks poised, Jake
:08:54. > :09:03.Wightman in a good spot, J Grice won't want to -- Charlie Grice, Tom
:09:04. > :09:12.Lancashire goes. Jake Wightman keep clear of the trouble, Chris O'Hare,
:09:13. > :09:15.Charlie Grice tries to follow. The top two to guarantee a place. Jake
:09:16. > :09:19.Wightman is trying to upset the party for those two and give himself
:09:20. > :09:23.a chance in Olympic selection. Charlie Grice ready to go again, as
:09:24. > :09:29.Jake Wightman gone too early with that burst? Charlie Grice looks as
:09:30. > :09:35.though he will hang on birds Chris O'Hare, top two is good enough.
:09:36. > :09:41.Charlie Grice and Chris O'Hare. The two men who knew that a top two
:09:42. > :09:49.finish would be good enough to live on and they have guaranteed a spot
:09:50. > :09:54.in Rio. A scrappy race, not a great race in terms of times, we were not
:09:55. > :10:00.expecting that but they did what they had to do. I must say Tom
:10:01. > :10:04.Lancashire will feel aggrieved because he was pushed over down the
:10:05. > :10:07.back straight and of course if that was deliberate or deemed to have
:10:08. > :10:10.been delivered by Charlie Grice and that officials might have a look but
:10:11. > :10:16.let's hope not. The question I was going to ask was do you finish in
:10:17. > :10:19.the top two if you are disqualified? Tom Lancashire would feel aggrieved
:10:20. > :10:25.because he was hard done by. He ran well yesterday. He was making all
:10:26. > :10:32.the moves and did not deserve to go down there and it is hard to see
:10:33. > :10:36.that happen to an athlete. They were all looking for room, it was getting
:10:37. > :10:42.close and Charlie realised he was in a bad place there and then it's more
:10:43. > :10:45.of a clip than anything, he did put half a hand on the back but then a
:10:46. > :10:51.clip from behind, he was panicking a little bit and that is really bad
:10:52. > :10:55.luck for Tom Lancashire, these things do happen in the 1500 metres.
:10:56. > :11:01.Especially when people start to panic. Jake Wightman burn a bit too
:11:02. > :11:07.hard here going past Chris O'Hare. A brave effort to get there. With Jake
:11:08. > :11:11.the adrenaline surge from that for maybe spurred him into making his
:11:12. > :11:16.move a bit too early and he ran well but was not able to hold off Chris
:11:17. > :11:21.O'Hare P even though he probably will feel a bit aggrieved he still
:11:22. > :11:28.kept fighting all the way because he knew he could get a top two finish
:11:29. > :11:31.and guaranteed selection for Rio. You can see there, the two we would
:11:32. > :11:39.expect to finish have done that but I'm not sure the race was how we
:11:40. > :11:43.wanted to see it happen. There we go, Charlie Grice and Chris O'Hare
:11:44. > :11:52.booking places in Rio Amrabat luck for Tom Lancashire. Clearly
:11:53. > :11:58.delighted to have secured a place, the pressure is always on, must be a
:11:59. > :12:01.thrilling thing? Mien Chris pulled through today, it is a fair result
:12:02. > :12:07.but I feel bad because I clip Tom Werner back straight but that is
:12:08. > :12:12.racing and I'm happy to get the job done today. What do you remember
:12:13. > :12:20.what happened? Just a line of people and I tried to move out and I clip
:12:21. > :12:31.Tim. -- clip Tim. Part and parcel of him. You are battling all the way
:12:32. > :12:35.Chris, you don it? I was trying to wait for 180 to unload Bert Jake and
:12:36. > :12:41.Charlie went by me and it caught me a little bit off-guard, but I'm glad
:12:42. > :12:47.I managed to rally back and get second just to secure that spot.
:12:48. > :12:53.Congratulations are in order because a baby is on the way? The end of
:12:54. > :12:57.October I and my wife are expecting, gives us the extra motivation to
:12:58. > :13:03.make the world a bit brighter. Congratulations to you both.
:13:04. > :13:13.The two we expected but not as we expected? That is what you expect
:13:14. > :13:17.from middle distance racing, it is very unfortunate and I know Tom
:13:18. > :13:20.Lancashire worked so hard and he seemed to have been in the right
:13:21. > :13:25.place at the right time but this is where the incident takes place and
:13:26. > :13:30.Charlie for me, looks like he is trying to steady himself, he does
:13:31. > :13:34.clip them birds we see this so often. I wouldn't want to apportion
:13:35. > :13:40.blame there, bitterly disappointing though. We will leave that insulin
:13:41. > :13:47.apart, what he saw at the end was Charlie Grice actually looking very
:13:48. > :13:54.much the strongest of the two. Charlie Grice that good. He did. I
:13:55. > :13:58.just think these two really do excite me, I have watched in a
:13:59. > :14:03.couple of championship star, it has to be said that Chris O'Hare tends
:14:04. > :14:07.to get itself in the right position but Charlie Grice is a real talent.
:14:08. > :14:17.If he runs the rights race at the championships then you never know
:14:18. > :14:24.what he can do. 110 meter hurdles next,, great to see Andrew Pozzi
:14:25. > :14:29.back. Yes what a torrid time he has had over the last four years, coming
:14:30. > :14:32.into the prime of his career where you think well this guy is really
:14:33. > :14:36.talented, a good Goode hurling technique and then he has had a
:14:37. > :14:38.string of injuries that has prevented him from showing his best.
:14:39. > :14:52.-- good. Again not quite sure, he looked so
:14:53. > :14:58.good in the qualifying heats, very fluid over the hurdles, maybe it is
:14:59. > :15:01.just again that cycle that they find themselves in. Final of the men's
:15:02. > :15:17.hurdles. Great to see him back, Andrew Pozzi.
:15:18. > :15:22.Running consistently quickly as well. Coming into these
:15:23. > :15:34.championships, he had three out talk races. We will see how he goes here.
:15:35. > :15:41.Let's tidy that up. What about Josh Kerr, the 18-year-old finishing in
:15:42. > :15:47.fourth. Great run from him. But Tom Lancashire, he did cross the line,
:15:48. > :15:52.really sad at the he had worked so hard to get himself into a
:15:53. > :16:03.challenging position. An intriguing final in prospect here. Two men,
:16:04. > :16:07.Lawrence Clarke and Andrew Pozzi. William Sharman, we saw him
:16:08. > :16:18.struggling with his hamstring at the end of the heat, which he did win.
:16:19. > :16:28.He doesn't start. David Omoregie, he goes on the outside as well. You
:16:29. > :16:35.never know in sprinting hurdles, just run a good race and strange
:16:36. > :16:42.things might happen. Khai Riley-La Borde, very talented youngster.
:16:43. > :16:49.There is Lawrence Clarke. The defending champion. Such a
:16:50. > :16:54.consistent athlete. Is there something quicker for him today?
:16:55. > :17:03.Will it be enough in this race question mark David King is on the
:17:04. > :17:10.outside of him. Still just 22. New personal best this season. Great to
:17:11. > :17:20.see him running again and three times in the 13.30 this year. 13.32
:17:21. > :17:24.in Loughborough last month. Joseph Hylton goes in lane seven. Former
:17:25. > :17:54.Welsh champion. On the outside, David Omoregie. The lane of
:17:55. > :17:56.William Sharman is empty. Andrew Pozzi has looked so good in
:17:57. > :18:25.qualifying this season. The long jump is carrying on with a
:18:26. > :18:30.little bit of noise. Just asking them to settle once again. No
:18:31. > :18:37.William Sharman, he did look pretty good in his qualifying. But he has
:18:38. > :18:45.had those problems. I suspect he has pulled out with his hands scream --
:18:46. > :18:49.hamstring. Lane three is empty. Lane number four is filled by the
:18:50. > :18:56.defending champion, Lawrence Clarke. He is a man who makes few mistakes.
:18:57. > :19:02.Doesn't run too many ragged races. Doesn't have the same raw speed as
:19:03. > :19:12.Andrew Pozzi. Lawrence Clarke and Andrew Pozzi have qualifying times.
:19:13. > :19:21.So finish in the top two and a trip to Rio is guaranteed. The final of
:19:22. > :19:32.the men's 110 metres final. Cleanly away.
:19:33. > :19:39.It is Andrew Pozzi. Back to all those injuries, he comes back and
:19:40. > :19:46.take the title 13.31 into a strong breeze as well. It is a new personal
:19:47. > :19:51.best and he is back to his best and better. Andrew Pozzi is the
:19:52. > :19:58.champion. Such a popular victory. Takes it from Lawrence Clarke. They
:19:59. > :20:04.are both heading to Rio. The champion is Andrew Pozzi. It was
:20:05. > :20:08.superb. All he has gone through in hurdling terms. Colin Jackson knows
:20:09. > :20:16.all about the in trees that can happen. It can be very hard event on
:20:17. > :20:22.the body. And for him to take the title in that time is very
:20:23. > :20:27.impressive. Good to see him back on the track. Training is difficult for
:20:28. > :20:31.this man. I cannot reiterate to anyone have virtually impossible it
:20:32. > :20:37.is for him to do what he is doing. He is just incredible. Spends very
:20:38. > :20:41.little time doing any hurdling because of problems with his
:20:42. > :20:48.thoughts. His consistency is always going to be up and down. He knows
:20:49. > :20:54.that and keeps it in his mind. Every time he runs a race, it is a
:20:55. > :20:57.brand-new challenge. Great to see what he's keeping strong, aggressive
:20:58. > :21:05.and was at it. With all of those problems he has had through all his
:21:06. > :21:09.career, for him to come out and still produce prominences like this
:21:10. > :21:14.is outstanding. It tells you what quality this young man is over these
:21:15. > :21:20.hurdles. I just only wish he could get the real whole season of the
:21:21. > :21:24.winter work behind him, when everything is absolutely perfect.
:21:25. > :21:28.You are always looking at the hurdling technique, but it is the
:21:29. > :21:34.speed between the barriers as well, and Andrew Pozzi had more zip? He is
:21:35. > :21:42.a natural sprinter. He hasn't had the opportunity to do as much sprint
:21:43. > :21:47.work as he could. If he could do that, he would be around the 13
:21:48. > :21:54.seconds. People would be thinking, no way, but trust me, I know what
:21:55. > :21:56.this boy is capable of. Here are the two guys heading to Rio.
:21:57. > :21:56.that, he would be around the 13 seconds. People would
:21:57. > :21:59.two guys heading to Rio. Congratulations. Wearing the British
:22:00. > :22:03.best today proudly and delivering a final performance worthy of the
:22:04. > :22:09.place, and? It has been the best performance of my season. I have
:22:10. > :22:14.struggled to find my rhythm, but I am delighted. I like coming here to
:22:15. > :22:21.Birmingham. Alas trials I did was for the last Olympics, so I'm glad
:22:22. > :22:28.to be back here for years later. What a long road back it has been
:22:29. > :22:34.but we have seen how talented you are. Lawrence, great memories of the
:22:35. > :22:39.last Olympics view, you are back for another go? Andrew and I finished
:22:40. > :22:43.last year and a great competitor. Adverse conditions, so it will be
:22:44. > :22:49.great for the summer. We wish you both for Rio and in the next few
:22:50. > :22:56.weeks for your preparation. Well done.
:22:57. > :23:09.Confirmation of that result. Andrew Pozzi and Lawrence Clarke are
:23:10. > :23:15.heading to Rio. That looks better. Chasing a lead of
:23:16. > :23:36.the opening jump. It looks as though he may have given
:23:37. > :23:46.the lead a bit of a look at. Swings the arm hard. Looks like his best so
:23:47. > :23:53.far in the fifth round so far, Otuonye. Just one centimetre behind
:23:54. > :24:00.Daniel Gardiner. But competition is over, Daniel Gardiner, the smallest
:24:01. > :24:08.possible margin ahead of Otuonye. No Greg Rutherford, head of the Olympic
:24:09. > :24:13.Games. Daniel Gardiner will have to jump 8.15, should he want to join
:24:14. > :24:19.them. Chris Tomlinson is alongside me.
:24:20. > :24:26.This takes me back in time because I remember coming to join your group
:24:27. > :24:31.in 1994, 90 five. So much has happened to both of us since then.
:24:32. > :24:38.In terms of your performance, you were on social media and you said if
:24:39. > :24:44.you didn't qualify for Rio, that was it? I can say, if I am not coming
:24:45. > :24:50.out and jumping over eight metres, which I haven't done for a few
:24:51. > :24:55.months, it would probably be it. So realistically, this is probably it.
:24:56. > :25:01.It is quite emotional, it has been a few years, my first Great Britain
:25:02. > :25:06.international was 2001. I have loved representing the country and I have
:25:07. > :25:13.very much warm my heart on my sleeve and I have tried my best. I have had
:25:14. > :25:19.an incredible journey. Your dad was here today, is he coaching you now
:25:20. > :25:22.or just to support you in what potentially was your last
:25:23. > :25:27.competition? He has been there to support me, a bit of coaching. I
:25:28. > :25:32.have been coached by some great coaches, Peter Stanley and I have
:25:33. > :25:38.been around these coaches year in, year out for over 15 years. I
:25:39. > :25:44.basically copied a lot of their training models. The reality is, it
:25:45. > :25:49.is not in the body any more. It happens to all others what next?
:25:50. > :25:52.Great question. I have my personal training qualifications in the
:25:53. > :25:57.sport. I enjoy going round schools. Maybe something like that. I might
:25:58. > :26:06.relax for a few weeks. I will keep yourself busy. If I go out and get a
:26:07. > :26:09.so-called proper job, I will have to have a shave and a haircut. The
:26:10. > :26:11.women's 1500 metres. so-called proper job, I will have to
:26:12. > :26:16.have a shave and a haircut. The women's 1500 metres. Perhaps the
:26:17. > :26:27.drama we saw in the men's. Two names are dominating. You look at the
:26:28. > :26:40.experience of Hannah England if she can come back from those injuries.
:26:41. > :26:52.Charlene Thomas has done well. There is Thomas. There is Laura Wakeman.
:26:53. > :26:58.It is evens between Laura Wakeman and Laura Mule. Laura Wakeman,
:26:59. > :27:12.wonderful to see her on the start line. Great spell in 2014. Hannah
:27:13. > :27:21.England. Laura Mewhort. The defending champion. Leon Pryce in
:27:22. > :27:37.the Welsh vest. The final of the women's 1500
:27:38. > :27:42.metres. You look at the tall figure of Hannah England who was a world
:27:43. > :27:49.silver-medallist in 2011. But so many injuries and illness last year.
:27:50. > :27:56.Jessica Judd has switched from the 800 to the 1500. Laura Muir and
:27:57. > :28:04.Laura Wakeman biding their time at the back at the moment. What are you
:28:05. > :28:10.expecting, Paula? It should come down but them to come through this
:28:11. > :28:17.race. What we have seen with Moultrie, is a bit of nerves. It is
:28:18. > :28:22.risky when the pace goes out a really slow, especially in women's
:28:23. > :28:28.races. There is a lot of bumping and barging. She has decided to go and
:28:29. > :28:34.make this an honest race and she has decided to stay out of trouble. She
:28:35. > :28:39.is staying out of trouble at the moment, Moultrie. You wonder if that
:28:40. > :28:45.is a bit of adrenaline that will cost her later on in the race. Back
:28:46. > :28:50.in the pack, Hannah England and Bobby Clay, what a consistent runner
:28:51. > :28:57.she is. Look out for Sarah Macdonald in the black vest. But Jo Moultrie
:28:58. > :29:07.is a long way clear at the moment. Nobody has decided to go with her.
:29:08. > :29:12.It is not like she has gone out at a crazy pace. It is nothing startling.
:29:13. > :29:17.Some of these girls soon need to make up their minds. Because she
:29:18. > :29:27.probably has gone too fast and will die a little bit, but it is too big
:29:28. > :29:31.of a gap to believing in the British Championships. If your chance does
:29:32. > :29:37.not lie in the sprint finish, this is the best way to run it. Jo
:29:38. > :29:41.Moultrie is still a long way clear. Even athletes with the calibre of
:29:42. > :29:45.Laura Weightman and Laura Mule, will realise that the pace has got to
:29:46. > :29:53.lift. Who will be the first great because you will leading the race to
:29:54. > :30:00.poll Jo Moultrie back end. It is not quick and she is probably thinking,
:30:01. > :30:07.come on what are you doing? We saw Laura Weightman to look at Laura
:30:08. > :30:15.your to decide if they are going to go. They are quickly now reeling her
:30:16. > :30:18.in. They are capable of doing it but it was a battle to see who would
:30:19. > :30:37.crack first. Ten seconds off her personal best,
:30:38. > :30:44.ran 4.07 point 18, it is Laura Weightman and Laura Muir who are at
:30:45. > :30:49.the front. As they go through the ballot is the battle we expected
:30:50. > :30:53.with Charlene Thomas well-placed, Bobby Clay will be struggling and
:30:54. > :30:59.has Hannah England got enough pace to get yourself back up? There you
:31:00. > :31:05.see the change of pace. Laura Muir putting on a show and what a gap,
:31:06. > :31:09.Charlene Thomas is hanging onto the back of Laura Weightman who has to
:31:10. > :31:14.finish in the top two to guaranteed Olympic qualification. Laura Nouble
:31:15. > :31:22.take the title as she did last year, look at the gap -- Laura Muir. Laura
:31:23. > :31:27.Weightman looking round and digging in and gritting her teeth, this is
:31:28. > :31:32.the battle for second that she has to win to guarantee selection, Laura
:31:33. > :31:37.Muir into home straight and looking for the victory. Behind the race on
:31:38. > :31:42.and Laura Weightman as Charlene Thomas, spice, she tries to dig
:31:43. > :31:47.again, Laura Muir takes the victory, Laura Weightman comes again and take
:31:48. > :31:51.second place. It was the top two we expected but not perhaps in the
:31:52. > :31:55.fashion we thought, Laura Muir a long way clear, the British champion
:31:56. > :32:00.once again and perhaps she is a class apart from the rest in these
:32:01. > :32:03.terms. What an effort from Laura Weightman to get second place
:32:04. > :32:09.because it looked for all the world that Charlene Thomas had it coming
:32:10. > :32:12.down the home straight. One thing you can always say is she will never
:32:13. > :32:17.give up on it and she knew she needed to to get on the plane for
:32:18. > :32:20.Rio and to keep everything on track. She was able to fight back, maybe
:32:21. > :32:26.she paid the price for being the person to lead the group. Maybe she
:32:27. > :32:28.was not feeling good today but certainly someone who was feeling
:32:29. > :32:43.good was Laura Muir who showed that this issue has taken another big set
:32:44. > :32:46.forward to get on top. You can see there she still wants to get a quick
:32:47. > :32:52.Time out of the lab, indeed she ran a 60 flat in the last lap but the
:32:53. > :32:59.big battle is going on behind her. In an third. Laura Weightman casinos
:33:00. > :33:04.she is behind, Charlene Thomas maybe went a bit too early or maybe Laura
:33:05. > :33:11.Weightman wanted it a bit more. That was a great race and a great race
:33:12. > :33:19.from Laura Muir and behind her. She is world-class Laura Muir and she
:33:20. > :33:24.has a domestic victory again. Look at the effort behind to take second
:33:25. > :33:31.place. The two Laura's are down with Phil. Both are clearly frilled to be
:33:32. > :33:42.going to Rio, they tremendous performance Laura. Thank you I just
:33:43. > :33:45.wanted that today to qualify. A show of intent that you're not just here
:33:46. > :33:51.to win a title bids you out in Rio to do business there and maybe get
:33:52. > :33:59.on the podium? Definitely. I want to stay in the top five, I wanted to
:34:00. > :34:02.get to Rio and I've done today. Wonderful to see you continue to
:34:03. > :34:08.develop and the same for you Laura, one thing we know about you the guts
:34:09. > :34:13.and the determination. The goal here today was to get top two to go to my
:34:14. > :34:17.second Olympic Games, an incredible achievement and me and Laura will
:34:18. > :34:21.hopefully go there, perform well for Great Britain and I'm excited for
:34:22. > :34:22.the championships now. Congratulations to you both, we will
:34:23. > :34:35.see you in Rio. A look back at the best throw of the
:34:36. > :34:45.shot put this afternoon. 16 metres .60 seven. Not able to break the 70
:34:46. > :34:51.metre mark. Equal with Angela Littlewood, there is a name from the
:34:52. > :34:58.past. Rachel Wallader, successful defence of the UK title. Didn't go
:34:59. > :35:01.over 70 but didn't need to. A comfortable victory there ahead of
:35:02. > :35:16.Sophie Mckinna. You may have been with us earlier
:35:17. > :35:25.for the women's javelin, his confirmation of the result. Lifetime
:35:26. > :35:36.best for Joe Blair. Goldie Sayers settles for second place.
:35:37. > :35:43.A good race in the women's 1500, the dominant performance, Laura Muir but
:35:44. > :35:48.what efforts by Laura Weightman for second place ahead of Charlene
:35:49. > :35:54.Thomas, to guarantee a place to Rio. Her coach will be reasonably happy.
:35:55. > :36:00.Woman's 5000 metre coming up next but first a bit of reflection with
:36:01. > :36:08.Paula Radcliffe. A statement of intent from Laura Muir, smashed it.
:36:09. > :36:14.Laura Muir knows she's great shape this year, she ran a very quick mile
:36:15. > :36:22.time in Oslo with a four-minute fact that 1500 splits. She knows she is
:36:23. > :36:25.in good shape and could go out and control it and what she showed there
:36:26. > :36:29.was the change of pace over the last lap which Laura Weightman is not
:36:30. > :36:34.able to live with just yet. Fought very hard to hold onto second place
:36:35. > :36:41.and keep the spot for Rio. Isn't Laura Muir a real contender in Rio?
:36:42. > :36:45.I think so. It'll be a tough race. It always is that she showed last
:36:46. > :36:51.year she finished fifth and it was the manner she did, the frustration
:36:52. > :36:54.she showed not being able to get into the medals that has kept a
:36:55. > :37:01.fired up working hard over the winter. If both produced their best
:37:02. > :37:08.in the final in Rio than they are both in with a shout there. Next up
:37:09. > :37:15.the women's 5000 metres. Have you recovered after that last hundred
:37:16. > :37:19.metres? Never in doubt. I would rather commentate on the race and
:37:20. > :37:24.watch it but anyway those to have cemented their place in the team for
:37:25. > :37:30.Rio. We have another Laura who may have a chance in this one, Laura
:37:31. > :37:42.Whittle. As indeed does Stephanie 12. -- 12. There are others who may
:37:43. > :37:45.hope they can get closer -- Twell. No Joe Pavey today, we are told she
:37:46. > :37:50.would try to make the 10,000 metre team. Just missed the qualifying
:37:51. > :38:00.mark in America recently. No Jess Carlson either. A leash McColgan
:38:01. > :38:06.moving from the steeplechase, did very well so far, will be looking to
:38:07. > :38:14.come into the top two here. A big field. It'll be interesting if you
:38:15. > :38:21.can see Laura Whittle in the second line back there, two in from the
:38:22. > :38:25.side next to Charlotte Arter. Whether Laura Whittle here can
:38:26. > :38:31.reproduce the sort of race that she ran to run a very good 15 minutes
:38:32. > :38:34.eight seconds in her personal best. Run at the Commonwealth Games and
:38:35. > :38:39.would love to be an Olympic team no doubt. A lot of people in the
:38:40. > :38:46.stadium tonight will be hoping that this lady, Steph Twell can underline
:38:47. > :38:55.the return to form which we have been enjoying. Almost got close to
:38:56. > :39:01.an 800 best a few years ago, the terrible injury to her ankle, she
:39:02. > :39:09.struggled over the last four years or so to get back and finally. 12
:39:10. > :39:18.and a half laps of the track, the qualifying time which I don't think
:39:19. > :39:28.will come into much reckoning today is 15.24 exactly that it is between
:39:29. > :39:34.Eilish, Twell and Laura. And it's like the mens rea says though to
:39:35. > :39:41.some extent although there was a real battle yesterday, here there
:39:42. > :39:46.are three qualifiers Paula so if you are Laura, if you are Twell or
:39:47. > :39:53.Steph, Steph will think she can out kick so she might not be too
:39:54. > :39:56.bothered so what do the others do? Maybe see how it settles over the
:39:57. > :40:00.first couple of laps and aside from there, no reason to make any
:40:01. > :40:07.stunning move over the first two laps. If it carries on slide they
:40:08. > :40:11.would need to react to that Bert we are enjoying the return of Steph
:40:12. > :40:18.Twell, what has been great for her is that was a PB on 800 metres and
:40:19. > :40:22.the first she has set since 2010 so it shows she is back and back with
:40:23. > :40:27.speed as well which is what she was struggling to get the most after the
:40:28. > :40:32.injury. Why she moved towards the five K in the first place away from
:40:33. > :40:39.1500. Now she is getting that pays comeback a bit. She is really
:40:40. > :40:44.enjoying that and that is a boost of confidence giving her more options
:40:45. > :40:54.in a race situation. I would look to Laura Whittle and then Eilish before
:40:55. > :40:59.Steph. Early pace as expected, it is a bit breezy as well although it
:41:00. > :41:02.seems to have dropped a little. The feathers in the hair of the
:41:03. > :41:08.Brazilian dancers giving out the medals wafting in the wind on the
:41:09. > :41:11.home straight. That is why you are looking at the dancers.
:41:12. > :41:15.LAUGHING You have to look somewhere to test
:41:16. > :41:28.the strength of the wind. Emma Clayton on the inside leading
:41:29. > :41:31.through. A good group in Leeds. Pleased to see Emma Clayton there
:41:32. > :41:35.who is more of a cross-country race on the track here today. One of two
:41:36. > :41:46.others in a similar position I guess. No Joe, Jess Carlson, at one
:41:47. > :41:50.point this would look like a really tasty 5000 but it is still in a good
:41:51. > :41:54.one in the sense of these three but only two will be able to definitely
:41:55. > :41:59.go. In terms of anyone else selection wise, is there anyone you
:42:00. > :42:05.think could possibly come into the reckoning? It is difficult to see
:42:06. > :42:09.when these three had turned out today with the two qualifying times
:42:10. > :42:12.that they have essentially done everything has to have them and
:42:13. > :42:18.there are only 15 days before it closes so to see someone come out
:42:19. > :42:23.and run to qualifying times in that period is a tough asp which is why
:42:24. > :42:26.we have seen Joe Pavey make the decision, she missed out on the
:42:27. > :42:30.first and realise she cannot make the 2/5000 metre so maybe she can
:42:31. > :42:44.get one tenth thousand metres and stands a bit more of a chance.
:42:45. > :42:57.Men's high jump one of the eagerly anticipated field events. 2.23 that
:42:58. > :43:02.is. A successful clearance at all the previous heights. As you can see
:43:03. > :43:12.their a good start from his campaign. Chris Baker 2.36 indoors,
:43:13. > :43:22.that equals his best outdoors, sorry to point to six best outdoors. --
:43:23. > :43:30.2.2 six. In second place if he gets it this time. That's better. Olympic
:43:31. > :43:38.bronze medallist from London 2012, world indoor silver from this year.
:43:39. > :43:46.He has the full set with the bronze. Let's have a look at this. Robbie
:43:47. > :43:56.Grabarz. Much better. Olympic bronze medal European gold, but can anyone
:43:57. > :44:06.else join those two? They are the only qualifiers so far. Allan Smith.
:44:07. > :44:15.Joined him at 2.2 three. Just to market the card it is 2.2 nine. Some
:44:16. > :44:21.work to be done but a successful clearance at the last time of Askin
:44:22. > :44:23.for Allan Smith. 23 years of age, two centimetres shy of his season 's
:44:24. > :44:40.best. Brilliant clearance for Chris Kandu.
:44:41. > :44:48.20 years of age. Absolutely showing some competitive edge there. His
:44:49. > :44:56.event continues. Four many clear at 2.23. Chris Kandu, the last of those
:44:57. > :45:05.four. He is pleased with that isn't he.
:45:06. > :45:14.He had not missed too much in the women's 5000 -- you have not missed.
:45:15. > :45:17.The pace has been pretty slow and if you want the kind of benchmark, the
:45:18. > :45:32.first mile was 5.40. It wasn't as windy as it was today
:45:33. > :45:37.and we have not seen anybody really make any moves just yet. You can see
:45:38. > :45:42.Eilish just moving gradually into fourth place just to get a bit
:45:43. > :45:48.nearer to the front. Twell sitting on the shoulder of Laura Whittle,
:45:49. > :45:53.they are the ones to watch but we just need to finish in the first
:45:54. > :46:07.three, no other reason to get moving quickly yet. 78 second lap so they
:46:08. > :46:15.have gone through a bit quicker. As Paula said, the main contenders here
:46:16. > :46:16.the ones in order once you have the opportunity to get their rear
:46:17. > :46:42.selection. If anything, is it getting any
:46:43. > :46:47.slower, Paula? The better athletes, sometimes the slower you run, we
:46:48. > :46:53.were talking about it earlier with Lennie Waite 's, the slower you run,
:46:54. > :47:01.it makes you feel worse. When you are used to running at a certain
:47:02. > :47:09.pace, you are trained to run at that pace, and then when you run slower,
:47:10. > :47:13.it is hard to raise the pace and respond when someone who has
:47:14. > :47:18.practised that a bit more and can quickly increase the pace and do
:47:19. > :47:25.damage. Eilish McColgan is saying, is anybody else going to pick this
:47:26. > :47:42.up a bit cos it is a little bit too slow. We have our tradition is
:47:43. > :47:50.working on this race. It has got slower. That was 80 seconds. They
:47:51. > :47:56.are all bunching up. Emma Clayton in front. Laura Whittle, for the first
:47:57. > :48:01.time looks like she might be interested with six laps to go. At
:48:02. > :48:07.least moving it along a little bit. That's the first thing, extricate
:48:08. > :48:14.yourself from everybody else. For those of finishing in the top two is
:48:15. > :48:19.a special occasion, we go back to Elliot Giles in the 200. Very slow
:48:20. > :48:28.race, you are racing to coalfields to get in the top two. I would be
:48:29. > :48:34.very surprised to see Laura Whittle to let this go with five laps to go
:48:35. > :48:40.before she increases the pace here. Back to the high jump. Robbie
:48:41. > :48:52.Grabarz, preparing himself. As to take the lead. It stays on! It was
:48:53. > :49:03.precarious. He gave it a wallop. It stays put. It is a good attempt.
:49:04. > :49:15.First man we have seen go clear at 2.26. Let's have another look. Gives
:49:16. > :49:24.it a wallop. But that is OK. It is a valid jump. Chris Baker, same
:49:25. > :49:35.height, third attempt. Flat, but he has got it. Two is filed -- two
:49:36. > :49:46.files, followed by the narrowest of clearances. Season's best. Good jump
:49:47. > :49:52.for him. Takes after a long way away. It is a good attempt. Very
:49:53. > :50:01.good for Chris Baker, looking to recapture the form we saw in doors.
:50:02. > :50:07.In second place. Behind Robbie Grabarz, courtesy of his second
:50:08. > :50:17.attempt and Chris Baker's third. Neither could go any higher. It was
:50:18. > :50:22.a successful defence of his title from Robbie Grabarz, and assured of
:50:23. > :50:29.a place in Team GB for the Olympic Games.
:50:30. > :50:38.Back with the 5,000m. Still no change. Still the pace, very gentle.
:50:39. > :50:44.Emma Clayton, who has been given the job, I would hardly say pacemaking,
:50:45. > :50:53.she has just been running in front. In second place. Stephanie Twell,
:50:54. > :51:01.keeping an eye on the other two. I am sure she will just wait. Laura
:51:02. > :51:10.Whittle has suddenly lost her position. Katrina Wootton on the
:51:11. > :51:18.inside. Paula, getting nervous for them with three and a half laps to
:51:19. > :51:23.go? It is still messy and it gives the potential for people to get
:51:24. > :51:26.clipped and go down. People are worrying about staying in the right
:51:27. > :51:32.position and maintaining that. Stephanie Twell, her top time goes
:51:33. > :51:40.back a few years. She knows she should be able to react quicker than
:51:41. > :51:47.them. But when it comes down to it, they have run at a very slow pace.
:51:48. > :51:53.It is lifting now. They are worried about it a little bit. Emma Clayton
:51:54. > :51:59.has been a windbreaker but the last how many laps. Pretty much, three
:52:00. > :52:03.laps to go. Laura Whittle, less comfortable looking. Eilish
:52:04. > :52:10.McColgan, people might have watched a lot over the years, she is quicker
:52:11. > :52:16.than a lot of people might think. She can sprint and I think herself,
:52:17. > :52:21.she has a fair bit of confidence in her ability to add kick Laura
:52:22. > :52:29.Whittle, if not Stephanie Twell. We are heading for a bit of a burn up
:52:30. > :52:33.in the last 500, 600 metres. The question is who breaks first. Laura
:52:34. > :52:38.Whittle has shown she doesn't intend to make this an early run for home.
:52:39. > :52:45.Everyone is pushing and shoving for a bit opposition. Laura Whittle is
:52:46. > :52:51.still not responding. Lauren Deadman trying to come round the outside.
:52:52. > :52:55.What was good to see was the experience of Stephanie Twell, who
:52:56. > :52:59.reacted at the right time. She sensed that Laura Dedman was coming
:53:00. > :53:05.round the outside and she maintained herself in pole position. Laura
:53:06. > :53:11.Whittle has decided, I need to make a move. Something needs to start to
:53:12. > :53:15.get moving. The only danger is, looking at the styles, because
:53:16. > :53:21.Eilish McColgan is so tall, that is when the danger comes. The length of
:53:22. > :53:25.her stride, she will get clipped. She is better off running wide out
:53:26. > :53:31.of trouble on the outside. We have just seen the first three moving
:53:32. > :53:39.away without them even starting to make a move. Elinor Kirk is still in
:53:40. > :53:46.the group as well. Stephanie Twell will be making sure nothing silly
:53:47. > :53:51.happens. They all know what they have to do. It is Stephanie Twell,
:53:52. > :53:58.Laura Whittle, Eilish McColgan, just beginning to move away. Only two up
:53:59. > :54:04.these three can be sure of Olympic selection after this race. Stephanie
:54:05. > :54:09.Twell, gradually moving away. Eilish McColgan might decide this is a race
:54:10. > :54:16.between myself and Laura Whittle per second. They come round with one lap
:54:17. > :54:22.to go. They hear the bell. Stephanie Twell with the lead. Laura Whittle
:54:23. > :54:26.picks it up again and Eilish McColgan is under pressure.
:54:27. > :54:32.Stephanie has this under control. Laura Whittle trying to find a bit
:54:33. > :54:35.more. She has the danger of Eilish McColgan sitting on her shoulder.
:54:36. > :54:42.They had this battle in Stamford earlier this year. It isn't over
:54:43. > :54:47.yet. Those long legs of Eilish McColgan. I said when she gets
:54:48. > :54:54.moving, she is pretty quick. Now she is chasing down Stephanie Twell. No
:54:55. > :55:01.response from Laura Whittle. Stephanie Twell won a medal in Delhi
:55:02. > :55:05.in the Commonwealth Games. Eilish McColgan is sensing she can run
:55:06. > :55:09.Stephanie Twell down. They are well clear of Laura Whittle. Stephanie
:55:10. > :55:15.Twell has saved a little bit extra. It is going to be victory, perhaps
:55:16. > :55:23.as expected, but Stephanie Twell. She will be the UK champion. Great
:55:24. > :55:30.return for her. She will be going to Rio, joined by Eilish McColgan. They
:55:31. > :55:36.did what they had to do. Laura Whittle, or want to lose out in
:55:37. > :55:42.terms of automatic selection. She finished third and as Paula said it
:55:43. > :55:48.might be good enough. She will have to wait because the other two now
:55:49. > :55:51.know. It is a great story the Stephanie Twell. People who don't
:55:52. > :55:57.know, horrendous injury when she broke her ankle. A plate and screws
:55:58. > :56:05.in her ankle, so many complications. A lot of people, I think a lot of
:56:06. > :56:11.athletes who went to what she went through, might have given up. But
:56:12. > :56:18.not Stephanie. When you are as good as she was in her earlier career,
:56:19. > :56:24.you might thing you would never get back to that. So well done. Louise
:56:25. > :56:29.Small, one of her team-mates, she knows what Stephanie has been
:56:30. > :56:34.through. A lot of girls on the team do know that. That is why she is
:56:35. > :56:38.such a popular athlete. She has rediscovered the form she had before
:56:39. > :56:45.the horrific injury. It wasn't just one break, there was a number of
:56:46. > :56:51.them. The amount of physiotherapy and getting the metal removed and to
:56:52. > :56:57.see her coming back and to be able to dominate in the way she has
:56:58. > :57:01.today, but also to know she has lifted herself and fought back to
:57:02. > :57:05.this level. She deserved that spot. So does Eilish McColgan, who has
:57:06. > :57:12.also come back from pretty bad ankle injuries. Yes, that is true. We talk
:57:13. > :57:18.about the journey athletes make. But this has been a long one of the
:57:19. > :57:23.Stephanie Twell to get back to poll on the British vest at the limpid
:57:24. > :57:23.games. Congratulations to her and to Eilish McColgan.
:57:24. > :57:23.injuries. Yes, that is true. We talk about the journey
:57:24. > :57:26.games. Congratulations to her and to Eilish McColgan. Stephanie Twell,
:57:27. > :57:34.after all you have been through. To make this must be special? I am
:57:35. > :57:38.here, marking myself as a senior. I feel ready for the competition at
:57:39. > :57:45.world level and going to the Olympics is exactly where I want to
:57:46. > :57:49.be. You are so confident the way you took business? I was quite tense,
:57:50. > :57:54.running through the race in my head a thousand times but then also
:57:55. > :57:57.trying not to think about it. I think I will sleep well tonight.
:57:58. > :58:02.Eilish, you have been through so much, switched events and now you
:58:03. > :58:07.are on the plane to Rio? We have been similar situations with
:58:08. > :58:12.surgery. I cannot explain how happy I am today. You think coming second
:58:13. > :58:16.in the race, you should disappointed, but behind Stephanie,
:58:17. > :58:22.she is world-class. I am going to start crying, I am so happy. It has
:58:23. > :58:29.been something I have thought about but so long. I didn't think I would
:58:30. > :58:36.be running busier, said the fact I am here and running as well as I
:58:37. > :58:38.have, I am over the moon. Can't believe I'm going to my second
:58:39. > :58:44.Olympic Games. Congratulations, well done. Action should be the women's
:58:45. > :58:49.400 metres. But we will look back to another event from yesterday which
:58:50. > :58:49.was a sister act that the women's 100-metre hurdles.
:58:50. > :58:50.have, I am over the moon. Can't believe I'm
:58:51. > :58:54.was a sister act that the women's 100-metre hurdles. There is the
:58:55. > :58:58.line-up. It is the lanes in the middle, the likes of Tiffany Porter,
:58:59. > :59:04.Lucy Hatton and Cindy Philly. Still holding onto the hope she can
:59:05. > :59:20.produce something special here. Tiffany Porter gets away well. It is
:59:21. > :59:28.Tiffany Porter. Big Sister winds. The two will join each other in the
:59:29. > :59:37.British Olympic team. 1292 with a following wind. No doubt, the two
:59:38. > :59:51.who have finished first and second. Was very close at the end. To me, it
:59:52. > :59:57.looks like it is Tiffany Porter. Close at the finish. Confirmation,
:59:58. > :00:02.it has been confirmed, it Tiffany Porter taking it just on the far
:00:03. > :00:12.side from her younger sister. But it was one at the start. Looking at
:00:13. > :00:19.lane six. So much work to do. Past Lucy Hatton. She is gaining and
:00:20. > :00:23.bearing down on her older sister all the time. Just looks to have more
:00:24. > :00:39.raw speed than Tiffany Porter. Now on track Perri shakes Drayton.
:00:40. > :00:41.Her new career has just gun but the results of the women 5000 festival.
:00:42. > :00:56.Dutchman just begun. It is the win for Twell. Laura
:00:57. > :01:03.Whittle will look at her 15.08 and hope selectors look favourably on
:01:04. > :01:14.that. A fascinating race and prospects, some very strong
:01:15. > :01:22.contenders and big stories here as well. We caught a glimpse of Perri
:01:23. > :01:29.shakes Drayton and Emily Diamond has been running very well, just outside
:01:30. > :01:40.her is Serin buddy Davis. Onuora on line six.
:01:41. > :01:47.Llanfair Nielsen on the outside, junior champion last year, perhaps a
:01:48. > :02:02.disappointing season because a huge potential in talent inside her merry
:02:03. > :02:11.at he key -- merry. The qualifying standard is 50.2 to, this year came
:02:12. > :02:23.at the Diamond league meeting when she finished just behind Davies.
:02:24. > :02:29.Here she is, really on the rise to anchor Britain to the bronze last
:02:30. > :02:39.year. Emily Diamond in the red first she has the quickest time in the
:02:40. > :02:44.field. 51.23, she has taken a big chunk off her personal best and
:02:45. > :02:50.there is Shakes-Drayton and we will listen to the applause. Who would've
:02:51. > :02:53.thought when she was close to the top of the world back in 2030 she
:02:54. > :03:03.would not run again until the start of this month and she is getting
:03:04. > :03:11.quick over 400 flat. Margaret Adderley
:03:12. > :03:16.dot-mac Kelly Massey had her first race at the end of May, that
:03:17. > :03:24.Achilles problem in the second half of last year at the start of this.
:03:25. > :03:27.Perry Shakes-Drayton is running so strong at the moment, so to Emily
:03:28. > :03:35.Diamond, very similar times this year. Onuora the defending champion
:03:36. > :03:46.those outside them both in six Bert Perry Shakes-Drayton, has only
:03:47. > :03:48.started racing again recently. Already showing the talent she had
:03:49. > :04:09.on the hurdles. A false start. I think it was right
:04:10. > :04:15.on the outside. Was it on the outside? I'm looking at the reaction
:04:16. > :04:23.times their nothing on that, everyone is out with 0.1 that is
:04:24. > :04:27.allowed. She got the best start and whether or not that was a false one
:04:28. > :04:31.we will have two Tansey, on the reaction we see, she looks a bit
:04:32. > :04:37.anxious doesn't chew. I hope not for the sake of the youngster, a huge
:04:38. > :04:43.talent. The chance to see a replay. We have had one or two problems with
:04:44. > :04:52.the starters equipment. There we go, just a green card. Everyone survives
:04:53. > :04:59.to race another day. A rare false starts, they do happen in 400 but
:05:00. > :05:01.not too often. We heard the helicopter buzzing around, I wonder
:05:02. > :05:30.if that disrupted things. Clearly away this time, though bit
:05:31. > :05:33.of a delay from Bundy-Davies Bert into running quickly getting the
:05:34. > :05:39.long stride going, good start as well from Margarets, she has gone up
:05:40. > :05:45.very quickly, perhaps burning herself out a little bit. Keeping
:05:46. > :05:57.good pace on the outside temp 1-macro. Emily Diamond outside,
:05:58. > :06:01.Perry Shakes-Drayton has gone. Her leg strap breaks down and she is
:06:02. > :06:09.out, sad to see. Emily Diamond leads them home and Perry Shakes-Drayton
:06:10. > :06:14.is there, Onuora trying to make ground. Perry Shakes-Drayton has no
:06:15. > :06:23.response and Emily Diamond comes home for the victory. 51.94, Diamond
:06:24. > :06:28.has the victory. Bundy-Davies couldn't get there but held on for
:06:29. > :06:33.second place. The celebrations for two women to Rio. So many stories in
:06:34. > :06:40.there, very sad to see Perry Shakes-Drayton breaking down and
:06:41. > :06:43.still smiling but still, we have seen her battling through the race
:06:44. > :06:48.in World Championships three years ago when her knee had gone and now
:06:49. > :06:55.hobbling around the track, we hope it is not too serious. Emily
:06:56. > :07:00.Diamond, out in front and it was at that point coming down the home
:07:01. > :07:04.straight where you thought with Onuora and Perry Shakes-Drayton not
:07:05. > :07:10.close behind that they would reel in but not, great victory for Emily
:07:11. > :07:14.Diamond. Another piece of great drama, Emily Diamond who missed most
:07:15. > :07:21.of last year with a hamstring injury, she really went up strongly,
:07:22. > :07:25.Perry Shakes-Drayton did not get out nor did Onuora and with those two
:07:26. > :07:28.chasing, once Perry Shakes-Drayton was out, she didn't look like she
:07:29. > :07:33.was running at all and look at this now. Emily Diamond is committed but
:07:34. > :07:38.will they run head down? No, she stays strong and is having a great
:07:39. > :07:42.season, she is seeing Rio in her eyes, running for the line and a
:07:43. > :07:53.good performance from her. Perry Shakes-Drayton gritted her teeth, if
:07:54. > :07:56.we see her head-on we will see her sensing Onuora decider, trying to go
:07:57. > :08:01.with Emily Diamond who looks more relaxed and then the battle for
:08:02. > :08:10.these three for those two spots, Perry Shakes-Drayton nails her spots
:08:11. > :08:14.as well. The big question now is Onuora, did she do enough to tell a
:08:15. > :08:19.selector she should get the third spot because Perry Shakes-Drayton is
:08:20. > :08:27.injured. That'll be for the selectors to decide that for today
:08:28. > :08:35.Sarah Bundy-Davies and Emily Diamond through. The elation is across the
:08:36. > :08:38.line, tell me about the moment? It has been a difficult 12 months, last
:08:39. > :08:44.year I was out with an injury, I moved coach and it has been a tough
:08:45. > :08:47.one. I live in Bath and my coach lives in Scotland so I've been
:08:48. > :08:53.working down with James Hillier in Bath and it has worked so well, I'm
:08:54. > :08:59.so happy, it has been such a long time coming and I wanted to, my aim
:09:00. > :09:03.of the year was to try to make the team and be a running athlete and
:09:04. > :09:08.then when I ran my PB in Germany I thought maybe I can get the
:09:09. > :09:13.individual and to win here today, such a bonus and I am ecstatic.
:09:14. > :09:24.Congratulations, Sarah you are fighting all the way holding off
:09:25. > :09:27.Anyika. I felt it was really windy and I felt Emily on me straightaway,
:09:28. > :09:32.she has a great 200 speed so I wanted to keep my head. I'm to light
:09:33. > :09:38.it to get a qualification for Rio, really happy. You can both take it
:09:39. > :09:45.in now, you are both on the plane to Rio.
:09:46. > :09:54.I saw the elation and the relief when she came across the line. Sarah
:09:55. > :09:59.Bundy-Davies and Emily Diamond heading to Brazil, interesting
:10:00. > :10:16.selections to come. The defending champion Anyika not there. The men's
:10:17. > :10:21.hammer. A big shout from Mark drive. Watching its sale Byeong-Hun An 70
:10:22. > :10:30.metres. 76 metre man. -- sale beyond. That is in the second round.
:10:31. > :10:37.Just two centimetres dry of the lead from Chris Bennett. Chris Bennett
:10:38. > :10:44.72.74, tight competition. Here is the favourite Nick Miller. Went on
:10:45. > :10:55.to become 11th there. The third round now. Another throw Byeong-Hun
:10:56. > :10:57.An 70 metres for Mick Miller. 72 point 21. -- another throw beyond 70
:10:58. > :11:11.metres. Chris Bennett is the man in form.
:11:12. > :11:23.Recently moved up into the top ten. That is a big throw. I said he was
:11:24. > :11:30.in form, 76.45 is best, this will be close to that. It is 75.67, that
:11:31. > :11:42.takes the lead. We have just had the women and now
:11:43. > :11:53.it is the turn of the men in the one that special.
:11:54. > :12:05.Three men again, sorry four men have the requisite to qualify. One of
:12:06. > :12:09.them Mark Rooney Babs after easing down in the home straight yesterday
:12:10. > :12:17.and Nigel Lavigne gets lane five because he won that semifinal --
:12:18. > :12:23.Levine. Rooney does not mind Lane eight but in this field, against his
:12:24. > :12:33.main British rivals he may have wanted to be in a better one. Dwayne
:12:34. > :12:41.Callan, Matt Hudson Smith. Another athletes returning from real injury
:12:42. > :12:48.problems. A local lad from Birchfield Harriers. Nigel Levine
:12:49. > :12:53.still going strong, he is still 27 were feels like he has been around a
:12:54. > :12:58.lot longer. Looked good in pushing Mark Rooney for the qualifiers. Last
:12:59. > :13:12.year this was the surprise of the championship, Yousif Bkheit, he
:13:13. > :13:21.stormed through to win 45.01. Jarrod Bowen, European team champion --
:13:22. > :13:28.Jarryd Dunn. And then Theo Campbell from the Bristol and West club, in
:13:29. > :13:36.lane two. PB said 46.02. On the other side, what a good week and
:13:37. > :13:51.they are having in terms of Championships, Jamie Bouley. --
:13:52. > :14:01.Bowie. Yousif Bkheit has two qualifying marks as those Dunn and a
:14:02. > :14:06.few others, their form has been not that brilliant but now is the
:14:07. > :14:09.opportunity, top two will definitely go, will be a third? That remains to
:14:10. > :14:22.be seen. Rooney really has to get out harder
:14:23. > :14:30.here and give the other something to look at, cannot take it too easy and
:14:31. > :14:36.he has come out hard, Yousif Bkheit running fast. Yousif Bkheit trying
:14:37. > :14:42.to stay in contact. All of the contenders still in with a great
:14:43. > :14:47.opportunity and Hudson Smith has the first 200 metres better. Yousif
:14:48. > :14:53.Bkheit tries to make inroads in lane for Bert Smith with Rooney and
:14:54. > :14:57.Yousif Bkheit contesting second place and stop Hudson Smith
:14:58. > :15:03.continues and it is Yousif Bkheit who looks like he will come through.
:15:04. > :15:12.Rooney nowhere. Hudson Smith wins its, Yousif Bkheit second. The top
:15:13. > :15:18.two win at their places Bert Hudson Smith running 44.88, a fantastic run
:15:19. > :15:22.from him and I think that performance, the hard running from
:15:23. > :15:27.him through 200, through 300, keeping it going all the way made
:15:28. > :15:30.the others look like they were in what is on every street, especially
:15:31. > :15:37.Rooney who I think must be ruling that semifinal run. Once Hudson
:15:38. > :15:41.Smith went past, he had nothing left and it was ten two who came through
:15:42. > :15:48.strongly. Rooney said he would like to go through. He will be hoping the
:15:49. > :15:52.selectors look on his past record I'm sure. Individually, this man is
:15:53. > :16:11.back. Not far off his personal best. Great approach. He went out much
:16:12. > :16:15.quicker than he did in the qualifying. Martyn Rooney with that
:16:16. > :16:20.amount to do. But Matthew Hudson Smith was in control. Great to see
:16:21. > :16:30.him coming back from those injuries because he is getting close to his
:16:31. > :16:35.best. The gap is clear. Martyn Rooney on the outside. Perhaps
:16:36. > :16:42.paying a little bit for not being a bit quicker and qualifying. But
:16:43. > :16:50.Matthew Hudson Smith wasn't labouring coming down the final
:16:51. > :16:55.stretch. He will be a contender for the finals in Rio. He is the flag
:16:56. > :16:59.bearer now for British men's 400 metre running. What a wonderful
:17:00. > :17:02.title to win. So much metre running. What a wonderful
:17:03. > :17:07.title to win. So much adulation down here, great to see the athletes
:17:08. > :17:14.celebrating and getting to the Olympic Games, you did it in style,
:17:15. > :17:20.tell me about that? I don't know how to react. The conditions were
:17:21. > :17:25.amazing. I felt good. I kicked on. We so what you could do last year,
:17:26. > :17:30.World Championship Kelhar now Olympic year and it is a great
:17:31. > :17:38.height again? We have been working on different things. I have got the
:17:39. > :17:48.standards. I am going to the Olympic Games. That is all that matters. One
:17:49. > :17:56.final word, what does it mean to make it to the Olympic Games? It is
:17:57. > :18:02.fitting I am starting my career again here. It means the world to
:18:03. > :18:06.me, in front of my home crowd. As usual, thanks to everybody that
:18:07. > :18:12.helped me through my journey. Thanks for this great top. Happy birthday
:18:13. > :18:16.to my brother. I will get your present tomorrow. He delivered a
:18:17. > :18:21.greater present right there. Thanks, guys. He has a pretty good excuse
:18:22. > :18:22.for not greater present right there. Thanks,
:18:23. > :18:27.guys. He has a pretty good excuse for not having got a present. Maybe
:18:28. > :18:33.that is good enough, his brother is going to the Olympic Games and what
:18:34. > :18:35.a performance. Great run in the Diamond League announcing he was
:18:36. > :18:52.back, but that was even better. Two great 400 metres, Emily Diamond
:18:53. > :18:58.winning willingly and then another level from Matthew Hudson Smith. It
:18:59. > :19:06.was a fantastic performance. Where we are, we saw them set off. They
:19:07. > :19:11.went up very fast, nobody was tentative in their performance. As
:19:12. > :19:19.soon as Matthew came to the crown of the bend, with 150 metres to go
:19:20. > :19:27.commie had the real sense of, I have got this. He started to push on and
:19:28. > :19:33.extend the stride length and keep his form. He crossed the line, and
:19:34. > :19:38.he is not breathing. That is the beauty of this young man, his stride
:19:39. > :19:42.is so quick. People don't realise how quickly he is moving. When you
:19:43. > :19:45.see the time of 44.88, he is shifting. Lots more to come
:19:46. > :19:49.including the women's 200 metres. They are just about getting ready.
:19:50. > :19:55.Dean Ashley Smith and Jodie Williams. Isn't it great. It is
:19:56. > :20:01.great we have so many wonderful women sprinting so well and so
:20:02. > :20:10.strongly. It will take around 22.7, 22.6 to take this title. Cold and
:20:11. > :20:13.drizzling a little bit, but it is world-class. The final of the
:20:14. > :20:26.women's 200 metres. This is going to be special. It is getting cooler and
:20:27. > :20:29.there is drizzle in the air. What can Dean Ashley Smith do here? She
:20:30. > :20:33.there is drizzle in the air. What can Dean Ashley Smith do here? She
:20:34. > :20:40.goes in lane six. A look at the final line-up. Gina Ashley Smith in
:20:41. > :21:00.lane six. She is there to be targeted because her main rivals are
:21:01. > :21:16.Bianca Williams, the bronze-medallist at the Commonwealth
:21:17. > :21:28.Games. 22 now. Shannon Hylton, one of two teenagers in this line-up.
:21:29. > :21:32.There is her twin sister. Dina Asher-Smith, targeting the 200
:21:33. > :21:39.metres and looking forward to Rio over this distance. Jodie Williams
:21:40. > :21:42.has always been a 200 metres specialist and was a
:21:43. > :21:47.silver-medallist in the Commonwealth Games and Europeans over this
:21:48. > :21:53.distance. Desiree Henry, was disappointed to finish third in the
:21:54. > :22:01.100 after looking so good in the heats. Can she make amends here?
:22:02. > :22:07.There is Ama Pipi, who studies in The States and has been running over
:22:08. > :22:17.there. 20 years old, but won her heat uncomfortably. Ella Barrett,
:22:18. > :22:24.just 18 years old. On the inside, the English under 23 champion and
:22:25. > :22:35.one recently in Bedford, Beth Dobbin.
:22:36. > :22:44.Conditions not ideal for sprinting. Damp in the air and the wind
:22:45. > :22:50.continues to blow a bit. We have seen a very quick time in the 400
:22:51. > :22:57.just run by Matthew Hudson Smith. What can they do here. Beth Dobbin
:22:58. > :23:04.in one, Ella Barrett in two, Ama Pipi in three. Desiree Henry in
:23:05. > :23:15.number four, Jodie Williams number five. Very clean me and quickly from
:23:16. > :23:24.Dina Asher-Smith. Desiree Henry is trying to keep up with her at the
:23:25. > :23:28.moment. Desiree Henry is just about getting back. She is there. These
:23:29. > :23:35.two side-by-side. Dina Asher-Smith just gets it. Desiree Henry and
:23:36. > :23:39.Jodie Williams. They were trading first position it seemed in the home
:23:40. > :23:45.straight. But Dina Asher-Smith, it looked, just held on for the
:23:46. > :23:50.victory. What a good race coming in as the favourite and delivering.
:23:51. > :23:56.Went through the first 100 so quickly, but Desiree Henry making up
:23:57. > :24:02.for her third place in the 100. So close to the victory, but I think
:24:03. > :24:07.that goes to Dina Asher-Smith. I think so, what a fantastic race.
:24:08. > :24:10.Desiree Henry proving that she is able to hold that technique when it
:24:11. > :24:16.matters. Came through really well. But the woman of the moment is Dina
:24:17. > :24:29.Asher-Smith. It has been confirmed. She took that race. It looks like
:24:30. > :24:36.she she was nervous at the start, but did enough. Photo finish. Dina
:24:37. > :24:41.Asher-Smith get it. Not a quick time, but we didn't think it would
:24:42. > :24:45.be in these conditions, which are deteriorating. But she did go out
:24:46. > :24:53.heart, Dina Asher-Smith. This is what we expected. I wonder if this
:24:54. > :24:57.lane draw would actually give something, show us something about
:24:58. > :25:03.the quality and the mental state of these athletes. We know Dina
:25:04. > :25:10.Asher-Smith goes out hard in the first 100 metres, but I wanted to
:25:11. > :25:19.see how would Desiree Henry respond. She does train, but she managed to
:25:20. > :25:24.hold the technique and we saw the beauty of the running action from
:25:25. > :25:29.Desiree Henry. She just starts to tip forward a little bit, but Dina
:25:30. > :25:33.Asher-Smith is straining for the line and willing it to come. Jodie
:25:34. > :25:41.Williams was perhaps moving quickest of all towards the end, but had to
:25:42. > :25:45.settle for third. It will be Dina Asher-Smith and Desiree Henry he
:25:46. > :25:48.will be guaranteed to go to the Olympics in this event. The Dina
:25:49. > :25:49.Asher-Smith is the champion. Desiree Henry, second place.
:25:50. > :25:52.Olympics in this event. The Dina Asher-Smith is the champion. Desiree
:25:53. > :25:57.Henry, second place. We are going to look and something else I do looked
:25:58. > :26:05.overwhelmed at the finish, so it sums up what this means to make it
:26:06. > :26:11.to Brazil? Since I was small, I have wanted to be an Olympian. Today, it
:26:12. > :26:16.didn't matter about the times, the crucial thing was getting in the top
:26:17. > :26:22.two and I am so emotional and I'm happy I will be an Olympian. You
:26:23. > :26:28.came so close in the 100, to nail it in the 200? Yesterday was a
:26:29. > :26:36.roller-coaster. It didn't go as well as I thought it would, but there is
:26:37. > :26:40.a chance for me to be in the Olympics, so it was about shaking
:26:41. > :26:48.myself off and coming back today and executing and getting my guaranteed
:26:49. > :26:55.spot. I am so glad I was able to do that because it has been really hard
:26:56. > :27:01.these last few weeks. Why am just so glad I'm going to the Olympics. You
:27:02. > :27:06.helped light the cauldron in 2012, now you will be running. I cannot
:27:07. > :27:15.believe it, it is a dream come true, ever since I was a kid I have wanted
:27:16. > :27:21.to do this. I want to thank my original coach at home, when I was
:27:22. > :27:27.16 John said I would be running. John, we have done it. Thank you.
:27:28. > :27:30.You have a lot of people to thank, more action to get to, enjoy the
:27:31. > :27:31.moment. Congratulations. John, we have done it. Thank you.
:27:32. > :27:32.You more action to get to, enjoy the
:27:33. > :27:44.moment. Congratulations. Women's long jump. She was brilliant last
:27:45. > :27:55.summer, Shara Proctor. Looks in control here. Extending her lead, it
:27:56. > :28:02.looks. Space on the board. 6.56, her best so far. 27 years of age now,
:28:03. > :28:10.Shara Proctor. Great contender for the medals in Rio. Not quite back to
:28:11. > :28:19.where she was last year. 6.65. That is her best so far.
:28:20. > :28:29.Jazmin Sawyers is having a great season so far. 6.42 her best, until
:28:30. > :28:40.now. Look at that! Jazmin Sawyers, 22 years of age. That not only might
:28:41. > :28:46.take the lead, but if it is beyond 6.70, it will book her place in the
:28:47. > :28:50.British team for the Olympic Games. Because she has one qualification
:28:51. > :28:55.already. If this is beyond 6.70, it will take the lead. Give Shara
:28:56. > :29:06.Proctor something to think about. But also, she knows. It is 6.70
:29:07. > :29:12.five. Jazmin Sawyers joins Shara Proctor, look at that, a lifetime
:29:13. > :29:20.best. Absolutely brilliant. Wonderful stuff. What a time to do
:29:21. > :29:29.it. Stefanie Reid, Paralympic silver-medallist. What a brilliant
:29:30. > :29:35.petition, she will be looking to respond and build on the tension,
:29:36. > :29:42.the nerves and the excitement down there. Slight following wind. 5.43,
:29:43. > :29:51.her best in the opening round. Lost a little bit on her landing
:29:52. > :29:58.possibly. This is the last round. It is by .40 three. No improvement.
:29:59. > :30:08.Eighth place, but good jumping from her.
:30:09. > :30:21.Dry. That is a big throw for Mark Dry. Their best so far in the
:30:22. > :30:32.previous round. Bennett entrance, Miller the favourite in third place.
:30:33. > :30:42.You can throw a hat over them. Mark Dry 74.92, it was a big throw but
:30:43. > :30:50.not enough. Second place though. There is confirmation that Chris
:30:51. > :31:04.Bennett is on a roll. No one had the Olympic qualifying of 77 metres yet
:31:05. > :31:17.though. So next on the track, just before that a result to tidy up.
:31:18. > :31:25.Women's long jump, confirmation of the win for Jasmine Sawyers. Shari
:31:26. > :31:26.Proctor unable to revive. Jasmine Sawyers, a gold for her, brilliant
:31:27. > :31:38.performance. And the result of the 200 just
:31:39. > :31:45.before we get towering in the 800, Gina Asha Smith taking it. -- Bina.
:31:46. > :31:49.Jody Williams will look for some generosity from the selectors but
:31:50. > :32:01.she look in good form. Now we are ready, they have been out
:32:02. > :32:06.there a few moments, the penultimate track race. 200 metres for the men
:32:07. > :32:10.too, after this and a couple of great races to finish off the
:32:11. > :32:19.British Championships. Five women with a chance. Rowena Cole, Barrow
:32:20. > :32:24.then Sharp, Leonard, Oskan-Clarke, Jenny Meadows, Walcott-Nolan, Alex
:32:25. > :32:33.Sandro Bell on the outside. She is having a great season. Alexandra
:32:34. > :32:36.Bell. Has a chance of going if she will find a top two finish and
:32:37. > :32:46.another qualifying time. Only has one so far. Walcott-Nolan,
:32:47. > :32:51.21-year-old from Luton. She will be hoping she can continue her
:32:52. > :32:55.improvement. Jenny Meadows float Serena yesterday in qualifying it
:32:56. > :33:02.has to be said. Is there one last hurrah for her. Oskan-Clarke, a
:33:03. > :33:09.finalist last year in Beijing and a brilliant series of races there.
:33:10. > :33:13.Looking to cement her place. Alison Leonard threw herself back in the
:33:14. > :33:22.reckoning with a dominant run in the heats, she has two qualifying marks
:33:23. > :33:32.as does Oskan-Clarke as does Jenny Meadows and sharp. The defending
:33:33. > :33:43.champion, Commonwealth silver medal, European silver medal in 2014, Leia
:33:44. > :33:48.Barrow in lane two. And then Rowena Cole on the inside.
:33:49. > :33:58.As ever all afternoon we have been saying straightforward enough, a
:33:59. > :34:02.great race where we have a whole series of permutations possible if
:34:03. > :34:07.you like. A strong event over the last few years for Britain, Jenny
:34:08. > :34:14.Meadows and her experience can it help? Then Lynsey Sharp of course.
:34:15. > :34:17.The one they will all be looking to because she is the class acts
:34:18. > :34:23.really, already Walcott-Nolan look so she will go out hard she may have
:34:24. > :34:31.watched what happened to Michael Rimmer, not that easy to choose
:34:32. > :34:33.between the five here. Tactics intriguing, we would normally expect
:34:34. > :34:44.to see Jenny Meadows attacking misfits we can see she has let
:34:45. > :34:48.Lynsey go through. A good group air who will be racing and there will
:34:49. > :34:53.not want to put a foot wrong. You could say possibly the likes of
:34:54. > :34:59.Leonard will be in difficulty on the last lap. She does have a tendency
:35:00. > :35:04.to give up but the others will fight, and they will have to because
:35:05. > :35:10.they are close today. Great to see Jenny back in the shape dominating.
:35:11. > :35:19.Walcott-Nolan controlling at the front. Slow through the first 400 so
:35:20. > :35:25.she will be hoping the change of pace for her will be there when she
:35:26. > :35:29.as for it. Bella moving on the outside, Jenny Meadows not making a
:35:30. > :35:35.move, she will want to do it sooner than later. They all have chances
:35:36. > :35:38.here. They are all there or thereabouts, three big names at the
:35:39. > :35:46.front with Leonard trying to squeeze through. It is Lynsey and
:35:47. > :35:53.Oskan-Clarke, only two will be guaranteed a spot. Lynsey Sharp look
:35:54. > :36:00.strong. Alison Leonard tries to push out Oskan-Clarke. Lynsey Sharp,
:36:01. > :36:06.attempt 1-macro, Alison Leonard on the inside and Lynsey Sharp
:36:07. > :36:13.struggling a little. Here comes Oskan-Clarke. She will get there,
:36:14. > :36:19.she wins it. Lynsey Sharp second and Alison Meadow third. -- Alison
:36:20. > :36:25.Leonard. Last year she really would show what ability she had and for
:36:26. > :36:30.her it has been a massive journey over the last few years and that you
:36:31. > :36:34.showed their when it comes to big races, championship races, she is
:36:35. > :36:41.very good at getting the best and then just biding her time and
:36:42. > :36:46.letting Lynsey to dictate. Didn't panic and was impressive in the home
:36:47. > :36:57.straight. Alison Leonard was there but have filly not have enough and
:36:58. > :37:01.the end stop. She showed the talent she has on rising to the big
:37:02. > :37:06.occasion when winning matters. She too big strides last year but issues
:37:07. > :37:11.again taking in her first national title and dominating. It wasn't as
:37:12. > :37:16.if Walcott-Nolan ran badly, she did everything right, she probably
:37:17. > :37:22.thought she would Betty pull away from Oskan-Clarke -- Lynsey. Once
:37:23. > :37:27.she sent she was gaining it gave her more confidence and momentum and she
:37:28. > :37:36.was able to read her in as Walcott-Nolan can sense and is
:37:37. > :37:39.starting to tense up. -- Lynsey. I'm sure Lynsey Sharp will be
:37:40. > :37:44.disappointed to lose her title but that'll be tempered by the fact she
:37:45. > :37:47.knows she is in Rio and Oskan-Clarke really strong in the home straight,
:37:48. > :37:55.Alison Leonard missing out, the closest of the others. I start with
:37:56. > :38:00.Lynsey, you will be in the Olympics yet again. I know you would want to
:38:01. > :38:06.defend a title again today but securing a place does that temper
:38:07. > :38:09.not winning the title? Obviously this weekend was about securing
:38:10. > :38:16.selection and I managed to do that so I'm happy. I would've to have
:38:17. > :38:21.defended the title but it was tied up a bit, it was hard when you know
:38:22. > :38:26.you're being chased down. It is much easier to chase them be chased the
:38:27. > :38:31.something I will work on. A second Olympics, the excitement starts
:38:32. > :38:35.building now I take it? Selection was more complicated last time so it
:38:36. > :38:41.is nice to have it all straightforward and now I can look
:38:42. > :38:46.forward to it. Congratulations. You are also on the plane to Rio well
:38:47. > :38:52.done, you must feel very proud right now? Very happy, I just wanted to
:38:53. > :38:57.secure my Olympic place that getting a win is amazing. I'm in really good
:38:58. > :39:01.shape and I have been rehearsing over the last couple of weeks about
:39:02. > :39:07.what I wanted to do and it has come out on top. Very happy. You have
:39:08. > :39:12.peaked perfectly for the World Championships and we know you can do
:39:13. > :39:15.so what about the prospects for Rio? I would like the same repeat
:39:16. > :39:21.performance or better, I know I can run faster and I'm gearing up try to
:39:22. > :39:31.peak at the right time. Congratulations on making it.
:39:32. > :39:39.The results again, the time is not relevant. Oskan-Clarke coming away
:39:40. > :39:44.much better than everybody else. Lynsey doing what she had to do,
:39:45. > :39:49.Alison Leonard is in tears down here finishing in third spot. One or two
:39:50. > :39:54.others might have seen that and for the race would be run differently
:39:55. > :39:59.but not Oskan-Clarke. Really is showing what a championship
:40:00. > :40:09.performer she is. The last 45 minutes also. Races have all been on
:40:10. > :40:15.the line, no one knows if they will go to Rio or not, no guarantees,
:40:16. > :40:20.these athletes came him not knowing and they have made selection lists,
:40:21. > :40:25.it is fantastic. Not knowing and not sure but at the same time like she
:40:26. > :40:29.just said it is getting mentally prepared and focused for the job in
:40:30. > :40:34.hand. She demonstrated that, she can do that and as you said, the other
:40:35. > :40:40.athletes, they have all performed really well. Andrew Pozzi included
:40:41. > :40:46.in the men's 110 meter hurdles, fantastic and raising their game
:40:47. > :40:49.when it counts. Lynsey leading it out there but Oskan-Clarke showed
:40:50. > :40:55.composure, that mental preparation came forward. For her she is still
:40:56. > :41:01.quite new getting into these were Championships, last year, doing what
:41:02. > :41:05.she needs to do and she is able to put herself in the right position,
:41:06. > :41:09.write speed which you need in these middle-distance races because they
:41:10. > :41:16.can bail your out when you need it. She kept a composure, didn't panic
:41:17. > :41:22.and got the job done. Jenny Meadows we can see the, for her towards the
:41:23. > :41:27.end of a career she would be hoping to go to Rio but it will not happen.
:41:28. > :41:31.Doesn't seem that way, she has been a great ambassador for women's
:41:32. > :41:34.middle distances, a great person to know, always positive with a smile,
:41:35. > :41:40.even when things have gone against her. And an athlete who has suffered
:41:41. > :41:49.at what we now know was state-sponsored Russian cheating. A
:41:50. > :41:56.bitter pill to swallow. No words can put it heal her scars and do write
:41:57. > :42:01.to the horrible things that have been done to her. One left, the
:42:02. > :42:12.men's 200 metres, the finale here and really quite something to look
:42:13. > :42:16.forward to. First of all this talk about Adam Gemili, a journey to come
:42:17. > :42:24.back here? That's right, not just physical scars but the mental
:42:25. > :42:28.barriers he has to overcome to trust that hamstring again and open up and
:42:29. > :42:34.let go in training and to pick the time to start. When do I start
:42:35. > :42:38.putting myself on the line again and he has maybe been a bit disappointed
:42:39. > :42:46.in what he has shown thus far but it is the long game he has to think
:42:47. > :42:52.about. In terms of the competition we expect to see Blake that he is
:42:53. > :43:01.injured, Hughes the training poll delay map partners of Bolt. He
:43:02. > :43:06.looked rusty, looks like yet done enough speed work. It's that cold
:43:07. > :43:14.that Denise is crying, I've just been watching it for. He does not
:43:15. > :43:17.look like he has been coming here in the best possible shape but he is a
:43:18. > :43:24.guide that knows how to races game, he has proved that it it is
:43:25. > :43:28.important that Gemili runs his own race and does not get drawn into the
:43:29. > :43:36.battle around him, this is about him. A quick word about Reece
:43:37. > :43:42.Prescod, an unlikely contender? I like the look of the sky, bags of
:43:43. > :43:47.potential. Let's see if he can hold his nerve.
:43:48. > :43:55.An intriguing race really. As we look down at Stalinist you mentioned
:43:56. > :43:59.Reece Prescod is a surprise package but it is Gemili and Danny Talbot
:44:00. > :44:07.who are in the best position. Dani Osvaldo about his business quietly
:44:08. > :44:11.-- Danny always. Zharnel Hughes was trying to keep people on how easy
:44:12. > :44:16.the qualification was I think but we shall now find out. Elliott Powell
:44:17. > :44:18.on the outside, the European junior semifinalist from last year at this
:44:19. > :44:31.event. Chris Clarke certainly if he is
:44:32. > :44:39.back, people thought he could really come on at 200 and 400 and move into
:44:40. > :44:45.wild rankings. Danny Talbot as I said, quietly goes about his
:44:46. > :44:50.business. He will be expecting to cement his place in the team. So
:44:51. > :44:57.does Zharnel Hughes but not this year. 20.62 is his best. He was
:44:58. > :45:06.maybe trying more than he was letting off but we need him. Adam
:45:07. > :45:12.Gemili all smiles as ever. He could do with not only coming in the top
:45:13. > :45:16.here but running under 20.5. Not the best conditions to do this but it
:45:17. > :45:33.would mean he would not have to worry about anything else.
:45:34. > :45:51.Reece Prescod, can he run a bit quicker here. Kyle Ennis. Then Leon
:45:52. > :45:59.Reid on the inside. All of the problems for Gemili of last year,
:46:00. > :46:07.hopefully behind him. He ran 20.55 in the qualifying heats. Just missed
:46:08. > :46:15.the second qualifying mark. It was 25.0 and maybe this is an
:46:16. > :46:23.opportunity for him? Hughes is in between Gemili and Danny Talbot. Top
:46:24. > :46:37.two only definitely go to Rio. 200-metre final. They get away
:46:38. > :46:46.cleanly. Zharnel Hughes is going well. Look at Gemili and Danny
:46:47. > :46:52.Talbot. Gemili coming away from Danny Talbot. Danny Talbot coming
:46:53. > :46:59.back. Gemili wins it. Double bonus. It is good enough. The two of them
:47:00. > :47:05.will go. Gemili dipped under the qualifying mark again. Danny Talbot
:47:06. > :47:11.came with a late surge. Not good enough in the end but as we
:47:12. > :47:16.suspected with Zharnel Hughes, he has two convince. We have Mitchell
:47:17. > :47:23.Blake and others who have two convince the selectors. These two
:47:24. > :47:27.are going, Gemili and Danny Talbot, definitely going. The question is,
:47:28. > :47:35.who will get the third spot? What did you make of that, Colin? Gemili,
:47:36. > :47:40.good pressure and just had enough in the end? The temperature has
:47:41. > :47:47.plummeted for these sprinters. You have got a hardy on. I am still in
:47:48. > :47:54.my shirt. But you are from the north-east, stronger than others
:47:55. > :48:01.Welsh. The next target was Danny Talbot. Danny kept a cool head. He
:48:02. > :48:08.is one of these meticulous athletes. He kept the rhythm going, which made
:48:09. > :48:16.him gain ground. Blog as we get close to the line. He was right
:48:17. > :48:23.there. Good run from both of them. It is all about getting into the
:48:24. > :48:28.team, making sure they are on the plane. Now they can do the
:48:29. > :48:35.polishing. They will go away and decide the races they need to do. It
:48:36. > :48:42.is good they have come to the top of their game. This is the field you
:48:43. > :48:44.want to be in, getting there, arriving, qualifying marks in these
:48:45. > :48:47.conditions. Good, competitive racing. It is looking great for
:48:48. > :48:52.these sprinters, Steve. Concentration from the two. Hughes,
:48:53. > :49:01.he lost third place to Reece Prescod. It doesn't do him any
:49:02. > :49:15.favours at all. Gemili and Danny Talbot, two happy men, I am sure.
:49:16. > :49:21.Job done. All day, we have been speaking to people who have made the
:49:22. > :49:29.plane to Rio. Two more happy men. Adam, such a close race? Danny has
:49:30. > :49:37.been running great this year. It was a very tough race. Came down to the
:49:38. > :49:44.wire and wasn't sure who won it. Glad to have got the victory and it
:49:45. > :49:51.is another stepping stone to Rio and we have more improvements to make to
:49:52. > :49:56.get more competitive with the other guys in the world, but it is a good
:49:57. > :50:03.start. Colin Jackson was saying, you have booked your place, it is about
:50:04. > :50:10.fine tuning now? Yes, we want to be competitive. It is good to come here
:50:11. > :50:18.and take our place and be the best in Britain. As a nation we have been
:50:19. > :50:22.getting better and that it is time to step up and win medals. What
:50:23. > :50:27.about the strength and depth across 100, 200 and the relay? The guys
:50:28. > :50:31.have stepped up. We are a new generation of sprinters coming
:50:32. > :50:36.through. We are hoping to go there and challenge for a medal,
:50:37. > :50:41.especially in the relay. We will do our best and hopefully we will come
:50:42. > :50:46.back with a medal. Congratulations. A lot of hard work goes in from a
:50:47. > :50:51.lot of people, volunteers and British athletics. Thanks to all of
:50:52. > :50:57.those guys. Well done, guys. Great pictures, we have seen so many happy
:50:58. > :50:58.athletes. There will be lots of disappointment for those who haven't
:50:59. > :51:01.made it. Some will have to disappointment for those who haven't
:51:02. > :51:05.made it. Some will have to gather themselves for another day and hope
:51:06. > :51:12.they can gain selection. There is still time. But for Adam Gemili and
:51:13. > :51:23.Danny Talbot, the one, two positions and also the time for Adam Gemili,
:51:24. > :51:30.impressive. Zharnel Hughes, has been totally unimpressive. They are
:51:31. > :51:33.guaranteed to go to Rio. The selectors have interesting decisions
:51:34. > :51:41.to make your wells will be there. Let's take a look. From gun to take
:51:42. > :51:46.from the 200 metres, a great start from Adam, Dennis? He did struggle
:51:47. > :51:53.towards the end, you would feel? I would say, yes. I cannot put into
:51:54. > :51:58.words how important it is for any athlete to get into the race routine
:51:59. > :52:04.and the race rhythm. He has missed it. His winter work would have been
:52:05. > :52:11.compromised. It is the speed endurance missing from the back end
:52:12. > :52:15.of his race. As he said, the job was done, qualification in the bag and
:52:16. > :52:19.good training to be done and competitions. The important thing to
:52:20. > :52:22.notice is the weather isn't great. You might enjoy it doing and
:52:23. > :52:27.long-distance run, but the sprinters are not enjoying it? They definitely
:52:28. > :52:32.don't, but they might have defaced these conditions anywhere in the
:52:33. > :52:37.championships and possibly Rio. They have to be able to perform up the
:52:38. > :52:43.right level whatever the conditions. Adam Jamelia guaranteed his place on
:52:44. > :52:47.the plane. Let's have a look at what has happened. These are the athletes
:52:48. > :52:58.who have made it and are guaranteed. The others will have to wait and
:52:59. > :53:06.see. Matthew Hudson Smith, one of the great performances over 400
:53:07. > :53:16.metres. Look at the women now. 22 women. Very strong on the female
:53:17. > :53:21.side? It is reflective of the last few years. British women have been
:53:22. > :53:25.getting stronger. They are making finals and collecting medals. There
:53:26. > :53:28.is a groundswell of the competitiveness. You know that good
:53:29. > :53:32.performances breed that competitiveness, which you need at
:53:33. > :53:38.the training venues and British Championships. One of the great
:53:39. > :53:40.performances was Jazmin Sawyers in the long jump. Great reaction to the
:53:41. > :53:41.personal performances was Jazmin Sawyers in
:53:42. > :53:44.the long jump. Great reaction to the personal best and afterwards she
:53:45. > :53:51.spoke to Phil Jones. What a performance, you needed to to pull
:53:52. > :53:59.out a performance of your life and you have done it. But can you
:54:00. > :54:07.believe it? No. But I am tentative to believe that I have done it and
:54:08. > :54:13.it counts and I am going to Rio. I can't believe it. The trials is a
:54:14. > :54:16.different experience, it is an Olympic year, different vibe about
:54:17. > :54:22.it and everyone knows how important it is. I have come here and
:54:23. > :54:28.delivered the gob with a lifetime best, I cannot be happier. You have
:54:29. > :54:34.done it at the youth Olympics, and also Commonwealth Games. But to get
:54:35. > :54:41.to the Olympic Games, it takes it up to a whole new level for you? The
:54:42. > :54:47.Olympics is the pinnacle and it is what you dream of. All the other
:54:48. > :54:56.things are amazing and I have loved my career up to now, but now I can
:54:57. > :55:01.say I am going to the elliptic games is awesome. We can see the joy.
:55:02. > :55:02.Congratulations and enjoy the experience.
:55:03. > :55:06.It wasn't the performance of the day, certainly the reaction. Steve,
:55:07. > :55:09.it was a lovely moment? It was brilliant. To see someone deliver a
:55:10. > :55:15.performance at an Olympic trials, she's such a popular athlete and a
:55:16. > :55:20.good character. To beat a world silver-medallist and get herself on
:55:21. > :55:26.the plane to Rio, it is great to watch. Overall, in terms of the
:55:27. > :55:29.field of hands, perhaps not the strongest? I was reflecting back
:55:30. > :55:33.with highlights, we are struggling a little bit. There was some decent
:55:34. > :55:37.stuff, nothing great. The men's hi Jim didn't turn into what we hoped
:55:38. > :55:40.with Robbie Grabarz and Chris Baker. In the hammer, it was competitive.
:55:41. > :55:45.Reflecting on the field events, maybe not as strong as we would
:55:46. > :55:50.like. Without Greg Rutherford, of course. Getting himself ready and
:55:51. > :55:56.was absent to the men's long jump. It has been a solid weekend without
:55:57. > :56:00.being incredible. A lot of the athletes have been here trying to
:56:01. > :56:03.qualify and one athlete guaranteed is Jessica Ennis-Hill. She has been
:56:04. > :56:14.performing at heptathlon since Beijing. Her performance, finishing
:56:15. > :56:19.off and 6.63 in the long jump. Denise Lewis, your reaction to that
:56:20. > :56:30.performance? Very good indeed. I have to say, for Jessica, it is an
:56:31. > :56:34.mark in the sand from which they can progress and accelerate her
:56:35. > :56:41.preparation into Rio. You would assume there is so much more she can
:56:42. > :56:46.put down in terms of speed. Weather conditions were not great. But it
:56:47. > :56:49.will give her a lot of peace in mind, having overcome injury
:56:50. > :56:54.problems. Now she can really put the foot down and motor. Steve, your
:56:55. > :57:02.reaction? It is exactly what she would have been looking for. The
:57:03. > :57:08.target was 67, which she has done. She can add another 100 points. If
:57:09. > :57:15.she does, I don't think there is anyone in the world who can touch
:57:16. > :57:21.6000 800 points. No one can beat her at that level. Paula, what was your
:57:22. > :57:26.performance of the day? It is tough. My heart, seeing Stephanie Twell
:57:27. > :57:30.coming back. But for the performance, Clarke in the 800 and
:57:31. > :57:32.Matthew Hudson Smith. performance, Clarke in the 800 and
:57:33. > :57:39.Matthew Hudson Smith. Let's tell you when the next athletics is coming up
:57:40. > :57:45.on the BBC. It is the anniversary games and we're back at the Olympic
:57:46. > :57:50.Stadium. We then moved to BBC Two at 8pm and on Saturday, coverage across
:57:51. > :57:54.the BBC during the afternoon. Then of course, it is Wimbledon. It
:57:55. > :58:01.starts tomorrow at 11:30am on BBC Two and five live. NSW 19 double
:58:02. > :58:09.provide us with some great moments, for sure. But is it from the Olympic
:58:10. > :58:16.trials. Thanks to you guys and in a world of sport, which can be pretty
:58:17. > :58:20.depressing, it has been great to be here to see the reaction of the
:58:21. > :58:26.athletes and also the disappointment when they haven't quite made it. We
:58:27. > :58:28.will be there in 40 days' time for the opening ceremony. Thanks for
:58:29. > :58:37.your company in Birmingham. Thanks for watching. That's what it means
:58:38. > :58:43.to him. He has just done what he does best. The world number one wins
:58:44. > :58:50.it very comfortably indeed. What does it have in store for us this
:58:51. > :58:52.year. That is a huge jump.
