:00:48. > :00:51.Hello and welcome from the heart of Manchester City centre where I am

:00:52. > :00:55.reliably informed it gets lively on a Friday evening. It seems that some

:00:56. > :01:00.of the world's best athletes have heard about that, as well. They want

:01:01. > :01:03.a piece of the action. So the Great CityGames has been brought forward a

:01:04. > :01:16.day. Saturday afternoons, thanks for the memories.

:01:17. > :01:24.You get so close to the crowd. You get everybody behind you.

:01:25. > :01:26.# Big lights shining bright # A great crowd is supporting us, it

:01:27. > :01:34.was a great race. It was such a nice feeling to be be

:01:35. > :01:44.lining up for a race again. # All the boys and girls got it

:01:45. > :01:57.going It was an amazing atmosphere. I had

:01:58. > :02:04.a great time. That is incredibly fast, unbelievable!

:02:05. > :02:09.Some great images down through the years. Sometimes the sun shoned and

:02:10. > :02:13.sometimes it rained. It did when Usain Bolt ran, he was stunning. He

:02:14. > :02:18.runs tonight making his European season debut. Maybe we will have

:02:19. > :02:24.news of that later on. In his absence the star name is home grown,

:02:25. > :02:30.he is down in Albert Square for the men's long jump. I don't need to

:02:31. > :02:32.tell you it's none other than the reigning world Commonwealth and

:02:33. > :02:36.Olympic champion Greg Rutherford. Just getting ready to take part in

:02:37. > :02:42.this men's long jump and he is speaking to Phil Jones.

:02:43. > :02:46.It's a big welcome back to Greg Rutherford and to Manchester where

:02:47. > :02:49.you have had success before and looking for more tonight. It's one

:02:50. > :02:53.of my favourite competitions of the year and the first one generally in

:02:54. > :02:58.Europe after a stint in America. Hopefully will have a good one. Been

:02:59. > :03:01.back a few days, feeling good. Is it fair to say you have had a good

:03:02. > :03:06.start to the year? I hate talking about it, as well. It's been that

:03:07. > :03:11.good for me. First jump of the summer was 8. 30. An Olympic

:03:12. > :03:15.qualifier. Two competitions later I jumped 36 and 24 again. I never

:03:16. > :03:20.opened a season like that. Hopefully I can maintain it. How much pressure

:03:21. > :03:23.is there this year, how much are you to enjoy being defending Olympic

:03:24. > :03:26.champion? You have the Grand Slam, the set already. Yeah, there is

:03:27. > :03:29.definitely pressure, obviously. A lot of people will see me as a

:03:30. > :03:32.favourite going into it. But I put so much pressure on myself all the

:03:33. > :03:36.time. I go out there expecting to win. And expecting to do well. We

:03:37. > :03:40.train incredibly well in order to do that. So, that's what I will be

:03:41. > :03:44.aiming to do, get to Rio and do it again. It's always great to see you

:03:45. > :03:53.here in Manchester. All the best. Thank you, I appreciate that. There

:03:54. > :03:57.will be lots from Albert Square. Here in deansgate we are getting

:03:58. > :04:02.ready to race. I am further down the track and getting ready to introduce

:04:03. > :04:06.you to four of the biggest stars in action on this specially constructed

:04:07. > :04:11.track. European champion Tiffany porter takes her marks against the

:04:12. > :04:17.best of British in the 100 metres hurdles.

:04:18. > :04:23.Indoor specialist and former world champion Richard Kilty kicks off his

:04:24. > :04:27.domestic season over 100 metres. APPLAUSE AND

:04:28. > :04:33.CHEERING The main competition there is the

:04:34. > :04:34.current world indoor champion from America, Trayvon Brommell.

:04:35. > :04:41.APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

:04:42. > :04:45.And Queen of the track will be Dutch superstar Dafne Schippers, the

:04:46. > :04:46.world's 200 metre champion going over 100 metres this evening.

:04:47. > :04:54.APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

:04:55. > :04:58.Yeah, four superstars in action. Let's look at the timetable. My

:04:59. > :05:01.advice is to sit on the sofa for the next hour-and-a-half and take it all

:05:02. > :05:02.in. So much to look forward to. It finishes off with two 100 metres

:05:03. > :05:17.races. I am delighted to say alongside me a

:05:18. > :05:21.special guest, Perri Shakes Drayton. Not easy to say! Got there in the

:05:22. > :05:27.end. A man always here, Colin Jackson. You dashed up from Devon.

:05:28. > :05:33.Yes, I have been in Devon. Glad to see you. Perri, first of all, the

:05:34. > :05:38.last time you raced was back in 2013. Yes, everyone always wonders

:05:39. > :05:41.is she fit? Will she run and compete this year? The answer is yes. We

:05:42. > :05:48.have to look forward to the trials in Birmingham. I have been kept

:05:49. > :05:53.occupied off the track, I have been doing training with sessions and

:05:54. > :05:56.collaborating and going to London iconic areas and putting on some

:05:57. > :06:00.great boot camps and putting people through their paces. Sglt how

:06:01. > :06:04.frustrating has it been for you? You are one of our most talented

:06:05. > :06:07.athletes, Colin will nod when I say this, to not be able to ply your

:06:08. > :06:13.trade and challenge for medals in the way you would have wanted to for

:06:14. > :06:17.three years? Very frustrating. Injuries are the worst thing you can

:06:18. > :06:20.have as an athlete, I would say, to go through, especially one like

:06:21. > :06:25.myself, I have been out for a long time. But, you know, I haven't

:06:26. > :06:29.finished. I haven't fulfilled my potential and that's what has got me

:06:30. > :06:34.through the dark times that I experienced with rehab. You are only

:06:35. > :06:37.27 years young. There's a long time potentially still to go. Have you

:06:38. > :06:42.learned what it is that you need to do to keep healthy now? Yeah, you

:06:43. > :06:48.know what, now I know my body. If something doesn't feel right I know.

:06:49. > :06:52.Now I am definitely more in tune of something not feeling right, don't

:06:53. > :06:55.ignore it and get it seen to. Good to have you here. Colin, let's turn

:06:56. > :06:59.our thoughts to this evening. Great to be here on Friday evening. A

:07:00. > :07:05.different vibe. Absolutely, yeah. We talked about some stars, what are

:07:06. > :07:11.you looking forward to? I am looking forward to seeingtive yny Porter --

:07:12. > :07:15.to seeing Tiffany Porter run. For me I am looking to see her come here

:07:16. > :07:20.and be very competitive. She's always one of my favourites. Nearly

:07:21. > :07:23.a medal at all the major championships so looking forward to

:07:24. > :07:31.see her start here and run well. If we go back a year, we are talking

:07:32. > :07:35.about Dafne Schippers going to do the heptathlon and now she's a fully

:07:36. > :07:40.fledged sprinter. She's focussing on the sprints which is great. She's

:07:41. > :07:46.gone under already 11 seconds, run swiftly. 200 is where we think she's

:07:47. > :07:54.favoured. It's great to see her here. The 200, I know, you are

:07:55. > :07:58.looking forward to seeing somebody. To seeing a young prospect. It will

:07:59. > :08:04.be great experience to see how she can perform with a crowd like this.

:08:05. > :08:13.It's not the end of the world, it's to experience that. 9. 98 for

:08:14. > :08:19.Bolton. That's not a bad start. The European Tour has been OK. Last year

:08:20. > :08:23.he did not start quickly. He was still running the ten mark. Anybody

:08:24. > :08:30.under ten seconds for Usain Bolt makes everybody nervous. Let's go to

:08:31. > :08:34.the first, the women's 200 metres and it's good evening to Steve Cram

:08:35. > :08:38.and Andrew Cotter. Good evening everybody. Welcome to

:08:39. > :08:47.Deansgate in Manchester for this 200 metres. Our first event on the

:08:48. > :08:51.track. Some of the best young talent from

:08:52. > :08:55.Great Britain on display. A great event to get us under way. A full

:08:56. > :08:57.length of the track. They're at the top end, we are about 40 metres down

:08:58. > :09:05.the There are the four athletes. Jody

:09:06. > :09:08.Leslie, 23. Last weekend she was winning the Kent championships.

:09:09. > :09:13.Looks a little nervous. First time in a race of this sort of stature on

:09:14. > :09:28.TV, as well. She won the 200 and 400 incidentally. Talking of the 400,

:09:29. > :09:32.Laviai Nielsen. The 400 is her best event as it is for Emily Diamond.

:09:33. > :09:37.Emily part of our strong relay squad that we are building for the 4x4.

:09:38. > :09:42.She will be hoping that as the season progresses she could be part

:09:43. > :09:45.of that squad. Laura Muller of Germany, another youngster, just 20.

:09:46. > :09:49.Fourth at the world junior championships a couple of years ago.

:09:50. > :09:55.Of course these athletes normally used to running the 200 metres on a

:09:56. > :10:02.bend around a track. This is a little different.

:10:03. > :10:08.Nielsen, in particular, will be one to watch. Had a good indoor season.

:10:09. > :10:15.The European junior champion at 400 metres last year, won that title in

:10:16. > :10:18.Sweden. She will start as the favourite

:10:19. > :10:26.here. The women's 2200. -- 200.

:10:27. > :10:33.Nielsen and Muller close toast the camera. Muller trying to forge

:10:34. > :10:37.ahead. It's very close. Nielsen holding her form well. Very close.

:10:38. > :10:40.About 50 meeters to go. Muller beginning to pull ahead. Diamond

:10:41. > :10:46.coming through. Nielsen fades a little. Muller gets it. Very close

:10:47. > :10:51.on the line for second spot. Well, the German wasn't quickest

:10:52. > :10:55.away, and for much of that race there was nothing to choose between

:10:56. > :10:59.her and Nielsen. It was just the last 30 or 40 metres and Nielsen

:11:00. > :11:02.started to fade a little. The German forged ahead. I think Nielsen will

:11:03. > :11:07.be disappointed with that. She started the season well over 400

:11:08. > :11:11.metres and really over 200 you expect the 400 metre runner to

:11:12. > :11:15.maintain a little bit better but it was Muller who came through. We have

:11:16. > :11:20.seen it often on this track when it's a long straight it seems longer

:11:21. > :11:23.for some sprinters, even with that strength and endurance from 400.

:11:24. > :11:28.They all started to tie up a little bit, reaching for the line, in

:11:29. > :11:31.particular, Nielsen. It was a close race. A strong breeze behind, as

:11:32. > :11:35.well. We have seen that in a couple of races so far. We are hoping to

:11:36. > :11:38.that to dip below the legal limit for the later races. Muller with

:11:39. > :11:44.that strength and again holding her form slightly better. Nielsen did

:11:45. > :11:47.look as if in the latter stages she will come through strongly but began

:11:48. > :11:54.to fade. A good race to get us going.

:11:55. > :12:01.Yeah, a strong breeze, as Andrew was saying. We are hoping the rain will

:12:02. > :12:04.stay away. The winning time, there you can see.

:12:05. > :12:16.It's a little bit of a wind tunnel down here.

:12:17. > :12:24.Laviai Nielsen is with Phil now. What a fine performance it was. It's

:12:25. > :12:26.good to see this new wave of British athletes coming through, especially

:12:27. > :12:30.on the women's side of sprinting. You want to be a part of it. You

:12:31. > :12:36.have shown what you can do tonight. It's really exciting. We have so

:12:37. > :12:40.many good young and up and coming athletes with the likes of Dina and

:12:41. > :12:46.other athletes. It's good to see. How much has it inspired you? It's

:12:47. > :12:49.amazing. Two years ago, we go to the same university, it's nice to see

:12:50. > :12:53.that. We shared the same experiences. It's amazing. An

:12:54. > :12:59.Olympic year, what's the big aim for you? Hopefully to make the Rio team.

:13:00. > :13:03.I was privileged last year to go to Beijing and witness that. Up and

:13:04. > :13:08.amongst it this year. You had a big taste of the last Olympics in

:13:09. > :13:14.London. You were the kit carrier for Jessica, no less. What was it like?

:13:15. > :13:18.It was amazing. I was thinking imagine if that was me. Four years

:13:19. > :13:22.on and I am aim fog are the Olympics and back -- aiming for the Olympics

:13:23. > :13:27.and back then I was an ordinary athlete. You are not ordinary. We

:13:28. > :13:30.wish you well. All the best. Thank you so much.

:13:31. > :13:34.First round for Greg Rutherford, first jump. This is the other

:13:35. > :13:40.direction over in Albert Square heading into the wind. Don't think

:13:41. > :13:45.we will see big numbers here. Greg has started his season well. 8. 30

:13:46. > :13:48.in California last month. Let's see how he opens here. The

:13:49. > :14:04.first of four jumps. Sizeable crowd over in Albert

:14:05. > :14:08.Square. He doesn't look too happy. About seven-and-a-half metres or so.

:14:09. > :14:17.. A little bit to spare on the rounds

:14:18. > :14:27.to come. Rutherford the first to jump in the long jump.

:14:28. > :14:30.He waits and we wait. It is 7. 56. He will be looking for further in

:14:31. > :14:42.those three rounds to come. A solid enough start.

:14:43. > :14:50.Ignisious Gaisah, he's the third man to leap here. Norris Frederick of

:14:51. > :14:57.the United States has opened with a foul. Gaisah won world silver in

:14:58. > :15:03.2005. Three years ago, for his adopted country, the Netherlands -

:15:04. > :15:09.kicking his way through the air. The wind reading is consistent. It's

:15:10. > :15:18.exactly the same measurement as that for Greg Rutherford, 1. 1 against.

:15:19. > :15:24.Right on the board. I don't think it's quite as far as Rutherford,

:15:25. > :15:29.pretty close. Indeed Ignisious Gaisah 7. 41, second place in the

:15:30. > :15:36.early stages of the long jump

:15:37. > :15:42.Next up on track is the rarely run 200 mered hurdles. We're looking

:15:43. > :15:50.down the track and it stretches for miles. You did this in 2013, what's

:15:51. > :15:54.it like? Exciting. Different to any other race that I've done. It's the

:15:55. > :15:58.buzz. You know, you've got the crowd. There I remember a few family

:15:59. > :16:02.members were in the crowd. That gave me an extra boost. I was thinking,

:16:03. > :16:08.where is the finish line? It's just long. That's the thing, 100 metres

:16:09. > :16:13.on the straight, suddenly you have double that. Psychologically that

:16:14. > :16:17.must be tough. Definitely. When the gun went, I was like go for it,

:16:18. > :16:22.don't slow down. The momentum took me. Next thing I knew, OK, at the

:16:23. > :16:27.finish line. Were you wrecked at the end? Proper. It's the men's hurdles

:16:28. > :16:31.this time. I'm going to speak to Mr Jackson. I think you'd have been

:16:32. > :16:35.good at the 200m hurdles. As we can see from the different hurdle

:16:36. > :16:39.heights, it's a different event. It is very much different. These are

:16:40. > :16:45.the senior heights for the men's 110 m hurdles. These 200 metre hurdles

:16:46. > :16:50.are the same height as the women's 400m race. It's about a foot, 30

:16:51. > :16:54.centimetres. The key thing is you have to explode out of the blocks

:16:55. > :16:59.and treat this race like a sprint race, like a sprint hurdle race.

:17:00. > :17:02.You've got to clear these barriers quickly because they're lower. That

:17:03. > :17:06.causes a little bit of problem with athletes. Then they get close to the

:17:07. > :17:10.next barrier. They've got to focus, switch on. Sometimes when it's a

:17:11. > :17:13.little bit smaller you take things for granted. That could be

:17:14. > :17:17.dangerous. Especially at the back end of the race when you're

:17:18. > :17:21.fatigued. It's mostly high hurdlers that do this, rather than the high

:17:22. > :17:29.hurdlers, not that it's run very often. Who does it suit? You know,

:17:30. > :17:33.what I'd favour the sprint hurdlers. You have the ability actually to be

:17:34. > :17:39.swift over the barriers. I think I'd favour the high hurdlers over 400

:17:40. > :17:44.hurdlers. Can you remember a time when you jumped over that height?

:17:45. > :17:48.Yeah, I was very young! The distance from the start line to the first

:17:49. > :17:53.hurdle is one centimetre further than the triple jump world record.

:17:54. > :17:57.How about that Andrew Cotter? The old hop, skip and a jump. What a

:17:58. > :18:00.grand, old event. It would be interesting to see a contest between

:18:01. > :18:12.400 hurdlers and 110 hurdlers. These are all 400 hurdlers. There is

:18:13. > :18:34.Pretorius. Good to see Jack Green back and

:18:35. > :18:39.running, former European under 23 champion. All sorts of injury

:18:40. > :18:46.problems and beyond that, he's now self-coached, based in Kent. Showing

:18:47. > :18:52.some good times, suited to his big talent. There's Sebastian Rodger.

:18:53. > :19:02.He's had a good indoor season over 400m, and a PB in Vienna.

:19:03. > :19:13.That's Jacob Paul. Times to look out for, because it's a rarely-run

:19:14. > :19:16.event. Colin Jackson has run one of those. Andy turner 22. 10, when it

:19:17. > :19:34.was run on the straight here. Constant Pretorius goes in one, then

:19:35. > :19:45.Jack Green, Sebastian Rodger and Jacob Paul. Long straight, the men's

:19:46. > :19:50.200m hurdles. Cleanly away. Pretorius has gone

:19:51. > :19:53.already. Then there were three. Feeling his hamstring a bit there.

:19:54. > :19:57.Rodger leads them at the moment just ahead of Jacob Paul. These two

:19:58. > :20:01.coming away from Tamsin Greenway, being left -- Jack Green, being left

:20:02. > :20:04.at the moment. Rodger looking strong. Sebastian Rodger, Paula

:20:05. > :20:17.Seling OVI trying to hang with him. He's failing a bit. Good

:20:18. > :20:30.victory for Rodger ahead of Paul. Sebastian Rodger judge today best of

:20:31. > :20:38.all and -- Sebastian Rodger judged it best of all. Shame to see

:20:39. > :20:42.Pretorius go in the early stages, Colin. You're right. You want to see

:20:43. > :20:47.all the athletes finish this race. You have got to generate a lot of

:20:48. > :20:50.speed in between. Because the hurdles are shorter, you can get

:20:51. > :20:54.complacent and think you can just flick yourself over. It you still

:20:55. > :20:58.have to work off every barrier. When the fatigue fits in, right at the

:20:59. > :21:01.back end of the race, you've got to think about your technique and

:21:02. > :21:06.holding it all together. Pretorius wasn't there from the start. He was

:21:07. > :21:11.told to go out hard from the start. Tried, but it wasn't there at all.

:21:12. > :21:15.Unfortunately, he'll be frustrated about that. You've got to be sharp

:21:16. > :21:20.and swift. Try to keep control. Not to go down to the hurdles. There's a

:21:21. > :21:26.tendency because they'reler, you lower your centre of gravity. You

:21:27. > :21:28.don't want that. Stay nice and tall. Keep your poise like you're

:21:29. > :21:33.sprinting. That makes the difference. Good run. Nice wind

:21:34. > :21:38.behind them as well. Look forward to seeing what Sebastian Rodger can

:21:39. > :21:40.manage over 400 hurdles later in the season. He has the victory here in a

:21:41. > :21:55.personal best. There's no question that Sebastian

:21:56. > :22:03.Rodger enjoyed that race. When you see just how far it is, 200m on a

:22:04. > :22:07.straight, how do you gauge the race? To be honest, I think because I'm a

:22:08. > :22:11.400 metre hurdler, this is quite short. A bit of training and it's

:22:12. > :22:15.OK. You just went for it? Just went for it, flat out. That's what you've

:22:16. > :22:20.got to do. I know you like wearing your GB colours. You've represented

:22:21. > :22:23.Britain proudly in the past. You want to this year in the Olympics

:22:24. > :22:29.year. How are you looking at the year ahead? It's going great.

:22:30. > :22:34.Everything is going to plan for Rio. Do you feel an added excitement in

:22:35. > :22:38.the air because of the Olympic year? Always exciting. After a race like,

:22:39. > :22:44.that it bodes well for the rest of the year. We wish you well. Thank

:22:45. > :22:49.you. Greg Rutherford's second attempt

:22:50. > :22:52.here in the long jump. Always a solid, if unspectacular opening leap

:22:53. > :22:58.from Rutherford. Leading after the first round. First to go in the

:22:59. > :23:08.second again. Just a bit of a breeze against the long jumpers.

:23:09. > :23:17.Hits it at some pace. The applause of the crowd. He looks more pleased

:23:18. > :23:23.with that one. Had a bit of room on the board in his first leap. He made

:23:24. > :23:27.a little bit better this afternoon there. Still some room for

:23:28. > :23:32.improvement. That did look further than 7. 56. Getting out close to

:23:33. > :23:46.eight metres. Looking strong in the early season

:23:47. > :23:51.already. The measurement is 7. 92. A good jump. That extends his lead.

:23:52. > :23:58.Two more to go. Greg Rutherford in very good shape over in Albert

:23:59. > :24:03.Square. Powerful looking figure this season.

:24:04. > :24:07.Seems to have bulked up. This is a man who could challenge him. A foul

:24:08. > :24:16.in the first round, Norris Frederick. Has gone beyond eight

:24:17. > :24:22.metres, but a few years ago now. 7. 79 early this season. Looking for

:24:23. > :24:35.some Albert Square noise. EastEnders style.

:24:36. > :24:43.At least it's a clean jump. White flag for Fredrik. Looks close to 7.

:24:44. > :24:48.5 metres. Good crowd over there in Albert Square. The star quality of

:24:49. > :24:53.Greg Rutherford has attracted a good few spectators. Good on the board.

:24:54. > :25:07.At least he has something up there to build upon. 7. 41, second place

:25:08. > :25:12.at the moment. That was for Ignisious Gaisah. Frederick moves

:25:13. > :25:20.into second place, some way behind Greg Rutherford.

:25:21. > :25:25.Earlier this afternoon, women's pole vault was keeping the crowd very

:25:26. > :25:29.interested. Katie Nageotte who's been on the Diamond League circuit

:25:30. > :25:33.already this year. An event which certainly the Americans doing so

:25:34. > :25:37.well at. She'll have a tough task to get into the American Olympic team,

:25:38. > :25:47.but started very well. Certainly was the favourite to win here today.

:25:48. > :25:52.This is Anicka Newell of Canada. She went clear at 4. 23. Blustery

:25:53. > :25:58.conditions, never easy for the pole vaulters as well, particularly in

:25:59. > :26:04.this type of setting. Sally Peake trying to follow them. Second

:26:05. > :26:08.attempt at the same height and she rattled it heavily. Looks up

:26:09. > :26:15.anxiously, but she hung on. They were all clear at 4. 33.

:26:16. > :26:20.As we've seen with the wind reading so far, quite a strong breeze coming

:26:21. > :26:24.down the track. There's a few clouds overhead. Hopefully the rain will

:26:25. > :26:29.hold off. The next race is the 150 metres. First back to a couple of

:26:30. > :26:35.races that took place earlier. Great school-age races and Andrew Cotter

:26:36. > :26:41.has the story. Away they go in the girls race. Joy

:26:42. > :26:46.Eze look at her go. She's flying already. A long, long way clear.

:26:47. > :26:53.Great style as well. A big, big victory, quick time as well. Legal

:26:54. > :26:57.wind, big personal best. This may not be the last we hear of Joy Eze,

:26:58. > :27:01.what a talent she is and what a victory here.

:27:02. > :27:07.Very quick time. The only one to use the blocks. Great style. That time

:27:08. > :27:19.was rounded down. The 11-year-old half a second clear

:27:20. > :27:26.of her nearest rivals, wonderful victory.

:27:27. > :27:39.Good start by Daniel McLennan in the boys -- Daniel Lennie. Lennie trying

:27:40. > :27:45.to get back. It's victory for Ishaq Patterson. The wind stronger than

:27:46. > :27:52.for the girls. 12. 64 a very quick time, beyond the legal limit though.

:27:53. > :27:54.Can you see the power that he has. Ishaq Patterson wins the boys' 100

:27:55. > :28:29.metres. Next event on the track is the men's

:28:30. > :28:36.150 m race. Big talent from South Africa, Clarence Munyai and Ojie

:28:37. > :28:40.Edoburun another British talent. An odd distance really, not raced

:28:41. > :28:46.all that much, particularly in a straight away such as this. Jaysuma

:28:47. > :28:50.Saidy Ndure of Norway 32 years of age now. We keep mentioning the

:28:51. > :28:55.conditions. The wind strong behind the athletes. If it gets on the back

:28:56. > :29:08.of Harry, he'll sail away, surely. He's fifth or sixth on the British

:29:09. > :29:11.rankings this year. This young man, I think, is going to be somebody to

:29:12. > :29:17.watch, could well be at the Olympics. He's run the qualifying

:29:18. > :29:20.time for 200m, 20. 36 for trick. He -- for South Africa. He says he's

:29:21. > :29:26.aiming for the world junior championships. One of our top

:29:27. > :29:35.juniors, the European junior champion at year Ojie Edoburun. 150

:29:36. > :29:41.metres, this wind, as we said earlier on about three, even four

:29:42. > :29:42.metres per second. That will give them the opportunity

:29:43. > :29:53.to run very, very quick. It's so unusual, we keep making this

:29:54. > :29:57.point, to race this sort of distance in a straight away. They look down

:29:58. > :30:08.the track. It seems such a long way away, but it isn't.

:30:09. > :30:22.Two great juniors closest to the camera.

:30:23. > :30:27.Well, that looked - might have been a false start. We will have to wait

:30:28. > :30:31.for the starters to make their mind up about that. Of course, it's

:30:32. > :30:35.difficult with the crowd very close to the track, etc.

:30:36. > :30:42.That will be up to the starters' diskrepgs. It looked like a false

:30:43. > :30:50.start -- diskrepgs. -- discretion. Still got to get used

:30:51. > :30:54.to a big stage racing perhaps, I think that was nearly Munyai. No

:30:55. > :31:02.false start rule here so they get to go again.

:31:03. > :31:06.Looks as though that may be a generous decision by the starter.

:31:07. > :31:10.Just to mention how well he has been going this year, he has been running

:31:11. > :31:14.youth races and junior races and won the South African senior

:31:15. > :31:19.championships at 200 metres and they've great talent at the moment.

:31:20. > :31:25.He could go to the Olympics. World juniors this year is his main

:31:26. > :31:32.target. If he gets selected for Rio we may see him there.

:31:33. > :31:42.Clarence Munyai in lane three a little fortunate.

:31:43. > :31:52.Cleanly away this time. Close toast the camera Edoburun gets the best

:31:53. > :32:02.start. Munyai is struggling to stay with these three. Aikines Aryeetey

:32:03. > :32:10.wins it. The wind, a howling gale, with his back it's like putting a

:32:11. > :32:12.sail up, isn't it? Carried down the track, Harry Aikines Aryeetey. He

:32:13. > :32:16.will be delighted with that. It's going to be a tough year in

:32:17. > :32:18.sprinting in Great Britain. So much talent around at the moment. It's

:32:19. > :32:22.going to be difficult. The qualifying time won't be good

:32:23. > :32:27.enough. There are going to be so many men getting the qualifying

:32:28. > :32:31.time. Wins like this, yes, it's 15. 1, it's quick and it's a windy day

:32:32. > :32:35.today, but the win is important. It certainly is. For his confidence, a

:32:36. > :32:40.man who has had problems with injuries. He gets bigger every

:32:41. > :32:50.winter and comes back an enormous figure! Great power. He kept his

:32:51. > :32:55.shape pretty well. Veering to the outside of his lane but he had the

:32:56. > :32:58.victory. A good run. You talk about talent coming through. A lot of

:32:59. > :33:02.people might have seen Mitchell Blake running great times in the 200

:33:03. > :33:15.metres, a name that won't be too well known to others but he is a

:33:16. > :33:23.great talent, as well. Good to see Aikines Aryeetey.

:33:24. > :33:32.It's not a bad time for 150. Harry is delighted the crowd with

:33:33. > :33:36.that victory. You are a popular lad in these parts and across the UK, in

:33:37. > :33:41.fact. I have talked to a few athletes already about what a big

:33:42. > :33:45.year it is, the Olympics year. For men's sprinting this year it's such

:33:46. > :33:49.a stellar event t will be tough to make the team. You are right there,

:33:50. > :33:53.man! I lose some sleep over it to be honest. It's one of those things you

:33:54. > :33:58.look forward to. It's exciting, that's what we want. We want a lot

:33:59. > :34:03.of British sprinters stepping up on the stage. The list goes on. It's

:34:04. > :34:09.what you want. It's boding well, not only individually but for the relay.

:34:10. > :34:13.If you guys can get it right we are in with a medal hope. We have had

:34:14. > :34:17.some success and we are a new team. Young blood. We are hungry. What has

:34:18. > :34:22.the reception been like generally here in Manchester tonight?

:34:23. > :34:27.Absolutely love it. I mean, 1501 a bit far for me and they got -- 150

:34:28. > :34:32.is a bit far for me, they got me through it. It's what we knead to

:34:33. > :34:36.do, bring the sport to the people. -- it's what we need to do, bring

:34:37. > :34:44.the sport to the people. This is where it starts. Thank you everyone,

:34:45. > :34:49.bye. Yes, a great atmosphere and a great

:34:50. > :34:52.run from Harry. As he said, it's long for him but that bodes well

:34:53. > :34:56.that he has that strength. Yeah, that's going to give him great

:34:57. > :35:01.confidence. Harry is 100 metre runner but he is showing strength in

:35:02. > :35:07.that 150 and I saw him tiring but he got through it. He has big muscles

:35:08. > :35:19.but he got through it. I am sure he is happy with that performance. Ojie

:35:20. > :35:22.in second. Gone under 20 seconds for the 200 metre mark. For the British

:35:23. > :35:25.boys it's a good tick they've achieved today. It's the most

:35:26. > :35:29.important thing because it's the beginning of the season remember.

:35:30. > :35:32.Everybody is at different stages in preparations but they'll all be

:35:33. > :35:36.heading for our trials because they know when push comes to shove that's

:35:37. > :35:42.where it will Matambanadzoer. Harry -- that's where it will matter.

:35:43. > :35:52.Harry talked about the competition. Let's mention this young lad,

:35:53. > :35:56.Nathan... From LSU. Run 19. 95. It's great for the British sprint squad.

:35:57. > :36:00.Everybody is showing this hunger. Everybody stepped up. Everyone has

:36:01. > :36:04.put out fast times. Some people over the States, some of the athletes

:36:05. > :36:09.were in the States and put down some times. It's exciting and we need

:36:10. > :36:15.that excitement and buzz for British sprinters. And Adam Gemile, as well.

:36:16. > :36:19.The list can go on. It's a great list to have. We are most probably,

:36:20. > :36:23.outside the United States and Jamaica, the strongest sprinting

:36:24. > :36:28.team in the world. I think when you are fighting for places surely there

:36:29. > :36:32.has to be favourites for us when it comes to the Olympics. We are

:36:33. > :36:36.watching, it's great to be watching these youngsters battle for places.

:36:37. > :36:41.We have seen great racing so far and plenty more to come over the next 50

:36:42. > :36:48.minutes or so. Tiffany Porter goes in the hurdles against the best of

:36:49. > :36:51.the rest in Britain. Sglp

:36:52. > :36:56.Dafne Schippers will be in action and Trayvon Bromell, let's see how

:36:57. > :37:22.he can go over 100 metres. Newel, her third and final attempt.

:37:23. > :37:26.Not to be. Sally Peake, her final attempt. A silver medallist at the

:37:27. > :37:42.Commonwealth Games. Sally Peake can't challenge either.

:37:43. > :37:46.She takes the applause of the crowd. Here is Katie Nageotte.

:37:47. > :37:51.No failures at all so far. A clean event.

:37:52. > :37:58.To win it at 4. 4.50 of the first attempt.

:37:59. > :38:07.Didn't graze the bar. So victory in the pole vault for Katie Nageotte of

:38:08. > :38:12.the United States. She went on to try a championship

:38:13. > :38:20.record of 4. 70 but failed there and took the victory with 4. 50.

:38:21. > :38:26.Tiffany Porter delivers medals time and again for Great Britain. You did

:38:27. > :38:29.it again this year in Portland. Congratulations on the medal there.

:38:30. > :38:32.Obviously, an Olympic year we are expecting more big things of you.

:38:33. > :38:37.What's it like when you have that constant expectation and you manage

:38:38. > :38:40.to live up to it? I think experience is a best teacher and I feel pleased

:38:41. > :38:44.to have these opportunities. Hopefully I can continue to progress

:38:45. > :38:48.this season and put on a good show when it matters the most. When you

:38:49. > :38:53.come to a huge year like this and you put together that form that we

:38:54. > :38:58.saw in Portland what kind of confidence does it give you going

:38:59. > :39:02.forward? Getting medals and performing at championships is a

:39:03. > :39:08.huge confidence boaster, that's the ultimate, that's what we work hard

:39:09. > :39:14.for. -- booster. I am hoping to replicate that in the future. As for

:39:15. > :39:17.tonight you pretty much own this event and what's it like with the

:39:18. > :39:20.crowd close to you? I love the street races, the energy you guys

:39:21. > :39:25.bring, we can feel it and it helps us to do our best. Thank you so much

:39:26. > :39:29.for coming out guys. Thank you. You are going to race

:39:30. > :39:39.very soon. We look forward to seeing you. Thanks so much, Phil.

:39:40. > :39:53.That's how we line up for the men's 100 metres, the T44 men's class.

:39:54. > :40:05.This is the event where we have seen showdowns with Richard Brown and

:40:06. > :40:09.Johnny Peacock in the past. Richard Brown is still coming back after a

:40:10. > :40:22.car injury and Johnny has an injury. There is Peterson of the USA.

:40:23. > :40:45.There is Jarryd Wallace. Helps runs with a cap, says it keeps the sweat

:40:46. > :40:55.out of his eyes. Felix Streng. And Michail Seitis of Greece.

:40:56. > :40:59.A 400 metre runner, was involved in a car accident three years ago

:41:00. > :41:11.resulting in an amputation and here he is competing in the men's 244100

:41:12. > :41:17.metres. -- men's T44100 metres. Wallace in lane two is the man to

:41:18. > :41:19.beat here. Streng might be able to get close to

:41:20. > :41:44.him, the German in lane three. Cleanly away. Wallace quickly

:41:45. > :41:47.running but so too Streng. Wallace will take the victory. The wind had

:41:48. > :41:53.dropped a little bit, just over the legal limit. Wallace takes the

:41:54. > :41:59.victory. Inside 11 seconds. He will certainly be a threat, a contender

:42:00. > :42:11.for the gold medal in Rio later this year. If Johnny gets back to full

:42:12. > :42:17.strength, look out. A good challenge from Felix Streng. He was better

:42:18. > :42:20.away out of the blocks. The hunger for Wallace just about gets him

:42:21. > :42:27.there. On paper he was the quickest. It was a good run from Streng. The

:42:28. > :42:33.last race was into a headwind. It would have been nice to have the

:42:34. > :42:37.breeze on his back. Quick times. Wallace dipping under 11 seconds. It

:42:38. > :42:42.show what is a good performance that was. Probably will want to tidy up

:42:43. > :42:47.the start, apart from that it was good. We look forward to see Johnny

:42:48. > :43:08.Peacock back competing. Jarryd, you are keeping it going.

:43:09. > :43:13.You couldn't have timed it better better

:43:14. > :43:20.We love running here. What do you take out of a race like tonight when

:43:21. > :43:25.you are up against someone like Streng? It's awesome. Dropped

:43:26. > :43:29.underneath 11. Unbelievable competitor. Strong athlete. It's

:43:30. > :43:38.going to be a great year, shaping up to be a good one. We wsh you well

:43:39. > :43:44.for Rio. Well done. Thank you. Victory for Jarryd Wallace.

:43:45. > :43:49.The 100 is where his future lies, I think. He will be a strong contender

:43:50. > :43:58.in Rio. A good victory here for Wallace.

:43:59. > :44:01.A great race there. Colin, perhaps Wallace would be

:44:02. > :44:07.surprised at how close the German was to him. I would have thought so.

:44:08. > :44:11.He has already run strong and powerfully this year. It's important

:44:12. > :44:17.to nail a good start and get in the lead, that puts pressure on people

:44:18. > :44:21.from the get-go. When you think of what Johnny Peacock can do, he

:44:22. > :44:27.hammers out of the block. With we are hoping at Rio and the

:44:28. > :44:29.Paralympics that Johnny can do something special again. Johnny

:44:30. > :44:34.selected for the European Championships coming up. You know

:44:35. > :44:38.Johnny a little bit. Such a fierce competitor. Also you remember back

:44:39. > :44:48.to London in 2012, such maturity, as well. Yeah, you know, a lot of times

:44:49. > :44:52.I spent in Loughborough, he is a cool guy, if he is watching, I am

:44:53. > :44:56.sure he will watch when I am running against, as an athlete when we are

:44:57. > :44:59.watching and unable to race and we do see competitors out there it

:45:00. > :45:07.gives us an extra boost and we are like, when we come against each

:45:08. > :45:14.other we will watch and see! It will be a great race in Rio. Should be

:45:15. > :45:23.special. We will focus now on the men's 100 metres. This man is one of

:45:24. > :45:35.What are your first impressions? Big year, Olympic year. It started off

:45:36. > :45:39.fantastically for new Portland, tell me about that, the world indoors.

:45:40. > :45:49.Going into the season, like me and my coach, we already had it in mind

:45:50. > :45:52.that I could take the win. Once the bell went off, I knew I'd won. It

:45:53. > :45:56.was a real good experience. A fantastic way for you to build on

:45:57. > :45:59.what you'd achieved in Beijing last year, getting the bronze medal

:46:00. > :46:04.there. I just wanted to make the team and show people I'm ready to

:46:05. > :46:09.run with the big guys. I was blessed to come out with maidal. What's it

:46:10. > :46:15.-- with a medal. What's it like competing with the likes of Usain

:46:16. > :46:22.Bolt and Gatlin at just 20? It's like a kid wanting to be a superhero

:46:23. > :46:24.with Superman. I try to stay motivated because years

:46:25. > :46:28.down-the-line, get older, maybe I can be faster than what I am now.

:46:29. > :46:34.The sky's the limit. You just go out there and compete against these guys

:46:35. > :46:38.and gain their reinspect on the track, it's a cool experience. Is

:46:39. > :46:44.this different being an Olympic year? You don't want to put too much

:46:45. > :46:48.emphasis on a certain event. It is a bit meet. But you don't want to go

:46:49. > :46:51.into the race thinking like, if I don't do good, this is going to kill

:46:52. > :46:54.me, because you never know what could happen the next day. It's

:46:55. > :47:01.another opportunity to try to be great. What do you think how crucial

:47:02. > :47:08.the spectators will be here, so close to you? It's cool. I used to

:47:09. > :47:16.think, it would be cool to lay a track down in the street and run a

:47:17. > :47:21.race. It will be thrilling. I want to perform for the crowd. I have a

:47:22. > :47:25.lot of love here in the UK. Friday evening working very well here on

:47:26. > :47:29.Deans gait, a great crowd, great atmosphere. The breeze is blowing

:47:30. > :47:34.through a little bit. That 100 metres is going to be about half an

:47:35. > :47:37.hour. Trayvon Bromell one of the real stars of track and field

:47:38. > :47:40.athletics. Manchester very much in focus this weekend as far as sport

:47:41. > :47:44.is concerned. We're here tonight. We have the FA Cup tomorrow with

:47:45. > :47:45.Manchester United against Crystal Palace. Then this is coming up on

:47:46. > :48:01.Sunday: Mentally I find that running helps

:48:02. > :48:04.me maintain a positive outlook on life, helping with the psychological

:48:05. > :48:09.side of this disease, because it can be quite debilitating. I always feel

:48:10. > :48:13.that anything is possible when I go out for a run. When I do my races,

:48:14. > :48:21.it's the little achievements that count for me.

:48:22. > :48:28.I just went to the gym one day and realised you know, I'm enjoying.

:48:29. > :48:33.This I started to see progress. I saw the weight dropping off. My Jane

:48:34. > :48:36.size was going lower, my T-shirt size was dropping off. All of a

:48:37. > :48:40.sudden, I'm eight-and-a-half stone lighter. Running's helped me

:48:41. > :48:45.mentally through tough times, when the world's been on my shoulders.

:48:46. > :48:51.Over the last few years, I've gone through depression and stress and

:48:52. > :48:58.anxiety. If I didn't have running, I don't think I'd be here today. The

:48:59. > :49:01.best advice I can give really is if you're out there running, however

:49:02. > :49:05.slow it is, however fast it is, you're running faster than a person

:49:06. > :49:18.sat on the couch. Get your shoes on, get out there and run.

:49:19. > :49:29.Yes, so many great stories, the Great Manchester Run: we'll bring as

:49:30. > :49:36.many of them to you as we possibly can and the elite races. Monday on

:49:37. > :49:43.BBC Two: we have extensive highlights. OK, the next race on the

:49:44. > :49:46.track is the women's 100 metres hurdles. It features Tiffany Porter

:49:47. > :49:55.and Steve Cram is bringing you the words.

:49:56. > :50:01.Thank you Jonathan. The pictures show that Tiffany Porter in lane two

:50:02. > :50:06.there, Lucy Hatton, Serita Solomon and Isabelle Pedersen. A competitive

:50:07. > :50:12.race for Tiffany Porter. It's one which she would expect to win. Good

:50:13. > :50:18.to see Lucy Hatton contesting 100 hurdles against Porter. Of course,

:50:19. > :50:22.for Lucy, she now only has not only Tiff to contend with, but her sister

:50:23. > :50:27.as well. She's the top ranked British hurdler so far this year.

:50:28. > :50:30.The qualifying time for the Olympics is 13 seconds flat. Every

:50:31. > :50:36.opportunity will be taken. Lucy may hope the wind dies a little here.

:50:37. > :50:44.Tiffany Porter has run 12. 72 at the top Jones invitational in America.

:50:45. > :50:47.That's not unusual! Serita Solomon yet to have her outdoor season

:50:48. > :50:52.begin. This will be interesting to see what sort of shape she is in

:50:53. > :50:57.after a very good indoor season. Isabelle Pedersen of Norway has been

:50:58. > :51:00.doing very well in 400m hurdles. Former world youth champion at the

:51:01. > :51:07.shorter distances. Ran under 13 seconds last year.

:51:08. > :51:14.You saw earlier on in the interview with Phil Tiff talk about the world

:51:15. > :51:20.Indoor Championships. She wasn't running that well indoors. She did

:51:21. > :51:21.well in the final. In the end only just away from winning the Gold

:51:22. > :51:35.Medal. Lucy Hatton on the far side, Porter

:51:36. > :51:38.for the in two -- Tiffany Porter in two, Serita Solomon in three and

:51:39. > :51:41.Isabelle Pedersen closest to the camera. Tiffany Porter with an

:51:42. > :51:45.advantage. Pedersen going well. Lucy Hatton on the far side. Solomon left

:51:46. > :51:50.somewhat. Tiffany Porter stamping her authority on this, checking into

:51:51. > :51:55.the hurdles. But 12. 89, the wind slightly over the legal limit.

:51:56. > :51:59.That's a shame. That was a pretty good performance. It's getting a

:52:00. > :52:04.little chilly here in Manchester. That won't help. Tiffany Porter once

:52:05. > :52:12.again coming out on top. Just took a little while to get going. Colin's

:52:13. > :52:17.better at analysing than me, but wonder if it was as smooth as she

:52:18. > :52:21.would have liked. Looks as though the hurdles were coming on her a bit

:52:22. > :52:26.quick. One thing we look for from Tiffany is perfection. We know she's

:52:27. > :52:30.capable of that. She's aggressive over the barriers. Off one of them

:52:31. > :52:35.she kind of fell off it a bit. That disturbed her rhythm a little. You

:52:36. > :52:39.see that hurdle there, she just collapsed just a margin. That makes

:52:40. > :52:43.a huge difference to the ultimate performance. Going into these

:52:44. > :52:47.hurdles, she clipped that one, but still very aggressive. Off this

:52:48. > :52:53.barrier she just collapses a little bit, arm flal a bit. That's to get

:52:54. > :52:57.her balance again -- flail. You don't have that much time, when you

:52:58. > :53:00.make a mistake, but Tiffany is a quality athlete. She was a bit

:53:01. > :53:06.disappointed with that. But there's plenty more to come.

:53:07. > :53:08.That's what she's very good at, timing her season well. A long way

:53:09. > :53:25.to go. It's still only May. Steve Cram saying there you always

:53:26. > :53:29.manage to time your season so well, you build, knock bits off your time

:53:30. > :53:33.bit by bit and get it right when it really matters, is that how you

:53:34. > :53:36.approach a season? Absolutely. The championships are the main focus,

:53:37. > :53:40.obviously, you want to continue to work hard throughout the season.

:53:41. > :53:43.We're still in heavy training. I'm just very pleased to come away with

:53:44. > :53:48.the win today. What about the time, just over the legal limit as well in

:53:49. > :53:51.terms of wind behind you. Were you pleased with the performance? Yeah,

:53:52. > :53:54.it's always a pleasure to run in Manchester in front of everybody. I

:53:55. > :53:58.never take that for granted. I'm very grateful to be here. You've

:53:59. > :54:02.kept your winning run going here. What inspires you about the street

:54:03. > :54:06.racing? To be honest, it's the energy you feel from the crowd. You

:54:07. > :54:11.can really feel the support and it really does help.

:54:12. > :54:17.CHEERING I'm sure they delight in seeing you here year on year. Come

:54:18. > :54:30.back next year I'll be back, thanks Guy! -- thanks guys! Over to Albert

:54:31. > :54:35.Square and Greg Rutherford reddying himself once more. Improved on his

:54:36. > :54:42.second round, he's led from the first round.

:54:43. > :54:49.Can he threaten eight metres? The wind is switching round a little

:54:50. > :54:52.bit. Hits the board well again. Another tidy jump. It looks a bit

:54:53. > :54:58.further. Difficult to tell on the angle there. The crowd seem enthused

:54:59. > :55:03.by that one. He's in such good form. It augers well for Rio. Pretty much

:55:04. > :55:20.the same as round two. Little bit more to gain on the board.

:55:21. > :55:37.Round three for JJ Jegede. Foul in the second round.

:55:38. > :55:42.That's better, a white flag. All sorts of injury problems last year.

:55:43. > :55:44.He will get a good distance here, well beyond his first-round jump of

:55:45. > :55:57.seven metres. Just to confirm Greg Rutherford's

:55:58. > :56:01.last jump was 8. 03. He has gone beyond eight metres. JJ Jegede, what

:56:02. > :56:10.does he have? A season's best time of 7. 7. 43.

:56:11. > :56:16.The 100 metres is coming up later on. Two of Britain's finest

:56:17. > :56:20.alongside me in Richard Kilty and Chijindu Ujah going against Trayvon

:56:21. > :56:24.Bromell and Kim Collins later. What about that prospect? It will be a

:56:25. > :56:27.great race. Looking forward to it. It's my first main race of the

:56:28. > :56:31.season. It will be a competitive race. How have you been training,

:56:32. > :56:35.how's the winter gone? Good, I ran quick indoors 6. 50. Didn't go to

:56:36. > :56:39.the world indoors and started with a win in Florida over 200 metres.

:56:40. > :56:42.Looking forward to today. As for you, you always want to test

:56:43. > :56:46.yourself against the best and Trayvon Bromell is proving to be

:56:47. > :56:54.just that. Yeah, his record speaks for itself. It's always nice to put

:56:55. > :56:59.a show for Manchester. A big year last year, I know you want to go one

:57:00. > :57:03.step further in Rio year. You have stiff competition. Yeah, every year

:57:04. > :57:06.everyone wants to bring their A game, especially Rio. I'm definitely

:57:07. > :57:10.planning to bring mine. It's going to be a great race. We're looking

:57:11. > :57:22.forward to it. Thanks for talking to us, guys.

:57:23. > :57:30.Aturn there, focussing on that race, that fight for spots in Rio is in

:57:31. > :57:34.intense. Very intense. As an athlete let the running dot talking. Don't

:57:35. > :57:38.hype yourself up too much. The strength in the field today, we

:57:39. > :57:41.can't really expect amazing results today, because of the weather

:57:42. > :57:45.conditions, it's quite windy out here. But obviously it will be nice

:57:46. > :57:47.for a win. That's what they're looking for. They need to build

:57:48. > :57:52.confidence as well. That's important. You look towards the

:57:53. > :57:56.trials. They need to start winning, start to perhaps put a mark down

:57:57. > :57:59.against their opposition, the ones who are going to be fighting for

:58:00. > :58:03.those places. Yeah, a win is a win. It gives you that confidence. Then

:58:04. > :58:09.it gives you that judgment of where you are in your training, what you

:58:10. > :58:15.may need to improve on, maybe you peak too soon. That men's 100 metres

:58:16. > :58:18.at 7. 20pm. The hurdles are in the way, ten more metres. Steve Cram.

:58:19. > :58:39.Let's look at the start list: Just a bit of news from the European

:58:40. > :58:44.Games, Lawrence Clark 13. 57, the fastest British athlete so far in

:58:45. > :58:51.this event. The qualifying time for the Olympic Games is 13. 13.47. It

:58:52. > :58:54.will be very interesting to see whether we get three men under that

:58:55. > :58:55.time. I'm sure we will. I hope we will.

:58:56. > :59:08.Rene Mahlmann of Germany. David King twice the English under

:59:09. > :59:14.23 champion. Coached by James Hillier. Didn't run so well at the

:59:15. > :59:23.UK championships, but a personal best indoors. Always stands you in

:59:24. > :59:27.good stead for the outdoors season. Ryan Wilson. Reward in Moscow for a

:59:28. > :59:33.long, good career. 35 years of age now. Coaching now himself as well.

:59:34. > :59:39.Andreas Martinsen of Denmark in lane four.

:59:40. > :59:46.Wilson in day's gone by would start as the favourite and probably does

:59:47. > :59:55.here as well. He's running 13. 54 his best in America. His first race

:59:56. > :59:58.in Europe this year. In America, many sprinters and hurdlers get to

:59:59. > :00:01.set good times early in the season. They hope when they come to Europe,

:00:02. > :00:05.the weather is the same. It isn't always the case. We've talked about

:00:06. > :00:06.the wind tonight. Let's see if it settles around two metres, it was

:00:07. > :00:18.just over in the women's race. Wilson left a little bit. Kipping

:00:19. > :00:25.got the better start. Half a metre lead at the moment thchlt could be a

:00:26. > :00:32.big win if he can hold this. Wilson getting into his stride. Wilson gets

:00:33. > :00:35.the win. Well, Martinsen second. King, could he have lasted that

:00:36. > :00:39.through? He came under some pressure and when he came under pressure he

:00:40. > :00:43.hit the penultimate hurdle hard and that put paid to his chances.

:00:44. > :00:46.Wilson, after a not particularly good start and for a long part of

:00:47. > :00:49.the race not really looking as if he was going to get there, in the end

:00:50. > :00:54.good enough to come through for the win.

:00:55. > :00:59.As ever, Colin, it's never over until it's over in the hurdles. Ah!

:01:00. > :01:02.Poor David King. I think he was on for something really special there,

:01:03. > :01:07.Steve. He worked hard. He got out of the blocks well. He was aggressive.

:01:08. > :01:12.Just about now he clatters that hurdle and that drags him back. He

:01:13. > :01:16.lost metres, absolutely metres. I can see he had been frustrated with

:01:17. > :01:20.that. Sometimes when you are in a race and running faster than ever

:01:21. > :01:23.before, hurdles come to you a little bit quicker, you are anxious because

:01:24. > :01:27.you know you are in the lead and it could be a big victory and you just

:01:28. > :01:32.slightly lose it. For this young man that's exactly what happened. Watch

:01:33. > :01:37.this now. Boom! Pulse him back. Loses it. He lost his stride going

:01:38. > :01:40.into the barrier. He lost his height and when these are three foot six

:01:41. > :01:48.you don't want to do that. He will be frustrated. He will be angry but

:01:49. > :01:52.he will be back. I think you are right. He was

:01:53. > :01:59.probably heading for a personal best. The time is there. He got 13.

:02:00. > :02:09.79 hitting the last four hurdles. The penultimate one put paid to his

:02:10. > :02:16.Tremendous race with you both there. David, you thought you must have had

:02:17. > :02:19.it until the penultimate hurdle. Yeah, I was gutted to hit that

:02:20. > :02:26.hurdle. They were coming at me so fast. The track is unbelievably

:02:27. > :02:34.fast. The hurdles fly at you. Then when it flew at you so fast, hit it,

:02:35. > :02:40.almost fell. Watching it back now, it's horrible to watch! I am really

:02:41. > :02:44.pleased with the run. It's a good sign of things to come. It bodes

:02:45. > :02:49.well, don't be too hard on yourself. Exactly. Amazing experience. I am

:02:50. > :02:55.really happy to be here. Ryan, you are still doing it, still winning

:02:56. > :02:59.races, but you also coach one of the best female hurdlers in the world.

:03:00. > :03:05.You are an all-round fantastic hurdler. I am trying to be. I am

:03:06. > :03:10.trying to make some, as well. He was having a great race, right. Pushing

:03:11. > :03:15.me the whole way. So, you know, it was really fun to come out here. I

:03:16. > :03:20.love having the eyes and the crowd right here on you. But, yeah, it's

:03:21. > :03:25.all about progression and this was an important meet for me to progress

:03:26. > :03:30.to my goals this year. So, it's really exciting to get back here.

:03:31. > :03:37.Does that include competing and coaching in Rio? Absolutely. That's

:03:38. > :03:44.the plan, you know, we made the 2013 team together. And I can't describe

:03:45. > :03:50.how the feeling how happy, you know, obviously it was my first team, US

:03:51. > :03:53.team, but then also the feeling of coaching someone to her first team

:03:54. > :03:57.is really special. It's really indescribable. I was happier for her

:03:58. > :04:01.than I was for me, which is a strange thing to say in sports

:04:02. > :04:04.because it's such a selfish activity. It's a tremendous

:04:05. > :04:08.accomplishment. Well done on the win. Good luck going forward to both

:04:09. > :04:20.of you. David, better luck next time. Thank you very much.

:04:21. > :04:27.Final jump for Greg Rutherford. Has barely put a foot wrong. Asking for

:04:28. > :04:36.more from the crowd. He has been so tidy. Three valid jumps and getting

:04:37. > :04:39.better with every round. The wind perhaps has dropped a

:04:40. > :04:42.little bit. Let's see how far he can go in round four. He is dominating

:04:43. > :04:48.the event at the moment. A long way clear of his challengers.

:04:49. > :04:53.That's good. He knows that. He has jumped 8. 30 so far this

:04:54. > :04:57.season but in warmer climes of California last month and here in a

:04:58. > :05:02.cool and blustery Manchester City centre. Again, very good on the

:05:03. > :05:10.board. Really is so tidy. It's 8. 20. A

:05:11. > :05:16.Games record. Two centimetres longer than the mark set by Chris

:05:17. > :05:30.Tomlinson. That was back in 2012. That was very

:05:31. > :05:33.impressive from Rutherford. This is Melvin Echard of the United

:05:34. > :05:46.States. Fouls in the first two rounds.

:05:47. > :05:51.The last but one jumper to go, only Ronald Hertog to go after Echard.

:05:52. > :05:55.Can he deny Rutherford the victory? I don't think it's as far as

:05:56. > :06:04.Rutherford. It might extend his 7.37.

:06:05. > :06:11.May well go into second place. Very good on the board, as well.

:06:12. > :06:18.It's 7. 53. He will go into second place, a long way behind Rutherford.

:06:19. > :06:26.Confirmation of that men's long jump.

:06:27. > :06:33.Rutherford with a Games record. Very impressive early season form

:06:34. > :06:46.from Greg Rutherford. It augurs well for the rest of the summer.

:06:47. > :06:51.Unfortunately, it's spitting now. The women's 100 metres. A year ago

:06:52. > :06:58.Dafne Schippers was still training for the women's shot put. Now she's

:06:59. > :07:10.one of the fastest women in the world and the reigning women's 200

:07:11. > :07:18.champion. Dafne Schippers, the heptathlete turned sprinter.

:07:19. > :07:25.Schippers will get the gold medal! A new championship record! Patience

:07:26. > :07:33.paid off for Dafne Schippers. Who could have expected this, a gold

:07:34. > :07:38.medal in the 200 metres? It was a special, special run. These

:07:39. > :07:44.two are under the umbrella. Thanks guys! You are more than welcome. You

:07:45. > :07:50.will have watched that at home, Perri. What do you make of the way

:07:51. > :07:55.Schippers has transitioned to an incredible sprinter? Only one word,

:07:56. > :07:58.rapid! Seeing it in person, like now, I am going to be... I have

:07:59. > :08:02.always seen it on the TV, never live. A lot of people will take that

:08:03. > :08:06.for granted, the speed of us athletes. When we see it live it's a

:08:07. > :08:10.different ball game. Colin, one of the things I am impressed about is

:08:11. > :08:14.the way psychologically she has got into being a sprinter. It's a

:08:15. > :08:20.different type of competitive environment with the sprints and the

:08:21. > :08:23.heptathlon. There is not much sharing about the knowledge in that

:08:24. > :08:27.sense, you have to go out there and focus as a true individual. You are

:08:28. > :08:32.right at the beginning, she's one of the best right now, of all time.

:08:33. > :08:37.Remember, she's gone under 21. 7 mark in the 200 metres. That's how

:08:38. > :08:46.quick she is. It's 100 metres for her tonight. Andrew Cotter is your

:08:47. > :08:47.commentator. It may well be Dafne Schippers

:08:48. > :09:23.against the clock. There is Cleo Vanburen. Ran 11. 10.

:09:24. > :09:32.A good few years ago now, back in 2006. 11. 53 this season. Dafne

:09:33. > :09:42.Schippers continues to improve in terms of starts to the year. 10. 83

:09:43. > :09:49.already in Doha. Bartolleta won her second long jump

:09:50. > :09:56.cycle in the same night in Beijing. A long jumper, though, but with

:09:57. > :10:01.great sprinting speed. Has run 11. 23 and Laura Muller who won the 200,

:10:02. > :10:06.more of a 400 metre runner so will do well to get the legs moving

:10:07. > :10:10.briskly in this one with high quality sprinters.

:10:11. > :10:26.Very few of higher quality than Dafne Schippers in world terms.

:10:27. > :10:35.Just a few spots of rain, hoping the wind might drop and see what time

:10:36. > :10:44.Dafne Schippers can manage. The women's 100 metres.

:10:45. > :10:50.Schippers comes away and uses all that power. Schippers and

:10:51. > :10:58.Bartolleta. Schippers against the clock. 10. 94. A Games record. The

:10:59. > :11:02.wind just above the legal limit. As we expected, a really dominant

:11:03. > :11:06.performance from Dafne Schippers. She will be running in the

:11:07. > :11:11.Netherlands on Sunday. Will look to see what she does there. Schippers

:11:12. > :11:15.continues to impress and impressing here in Deansgate this evening. Away

:11:16. > :11:22.not too badly. Once she gets going no one was going to touch her here.

:11:23. > :11:26.Bartolleta can start well but nothing she can do about the power

:11:27. > :11:31.of Schippers. A big year ahead, obviously for everybody, but what a

:11:32. > :11:42.prospect for her with Rio approaching. Doha, 10. 83 and it was

:11:43. > :11:45.much warmer there, of course, the beginning of the Diamond League

:11:46. > :11:49.season. I just get the feeling that Schippers is going to be even better

:11:50. > :11:53.this year than last year. Really good run. A little bit windy so the

:11:54. > :12:00.time won't stand as a record but a great performance from her.

:12:01. > :12:05.What a world star Dafne Schippers is she is days. We saw you perform in

:12:06. > :12:10.Beijing last year and the gold medal changed life for you it's fair to

:12:11. > :12:14.say in the Netherlands. Yeah, totally different world. It's very

:12:15. > :12:19.nice and I am happy to be here and very nice atmosphere. Thank you for

:12:20. > :12:22.that. It's always great to see the world's biggest stars coming here to

:12:23. > :12:25.Manchester and taking part in the Games. You are that now. Can you

:12:26. > :12:31.believe what's happened to you the last year or two in sprinting? Yeah,

:12:32. > :12:36.I see it and people see me, it's special for me and it's a total

:12:37. > :12:40.different world as I say. Yeah, makes new steps and I hope that I

:12:41. > :12:44.can run fast this year. Certainly if you do and you do it in Rio your

:12:45. > :12:49.fame's going to go to a new level. Are you ready for that? I think so.

:12:50. > :12:54.It looks like you are on tonight's performance. Congratulations on that

:12:55. > :12:55.and good luck going forward. Let's hear it for Dafne Schippers. Thank

:12:56. > :13:03.you. APPLAUSE AND

:13:04. > :13:06.CHEERING Well done, Dafne Schippers. Perhaps

:13:07. > :13:09.the most expected result of the evening even with the wind above the

:13:10. > :13:21.legal limit. From one world champion to another.

:13:22. > :13:24.Greg Rutherford skipped over from Albert Square. It was a tough start

:13:25. > :13:27.out there. But you got it right in the end. Yeah, absolutely. It's

:13:28. > :13:32.always a difficult one when you have had a few days in the UK. I got back

:13:33. > :13:36.on Monday. Trying to get back to this time difference and everything

:13:37. > :13:39.else. And this weather. Yeah, I left in 40 degrees and came back to about

:13:40. > :13:43.15. It was a bit of a shock. But it was a great finish to the

:13:44. > :13:48.competition. I am delighted to say these two haven't shared the

:13:49. > :13:54.umbrella with you either! What's happening? Talk about your prep. I

:13:55. > :13:58.have been watching you posting some weights you have been lifting, and

:13:59. > :14:02.the long jumps. You look in shape. Yeah, you know what, I thought this

:14:03. > :14:10.year I will spend as much time in the heat with my coach and a great

:14:11. > :14:13.training group. And some of the best long jumpers around in the world and

:14:14. > :14:16.I want to be around those guys. I never shy away from competition in

:14:17. > :14:19.practice, as well. I have been working hard the last few months. I

:14:20. > :14:22.am going to go back there in a couple of weeks to get a last prep

:14:23. > :14:26.done and we will have hopefully a good run into the Olympics. You have

:14:27. > :14:31.the Grand Slam and obviously you start again. To retain an Olympic

:14:32. > :14:35.title you must have thought about it, it's something that's

:14:36. > :14:37.incredible. Absolutely. I mean, it's always at the back of your mind.

:14:38. > :14:41.There is obviously competitions br that but you want to be setting

:14:42. > :14:44.yourself up for a good Olympics again, not many people managed to

:14:45. > :14:47.retain it and I am hoping I can do that. I have been working incredibly

:14:48. > :14:50.hard, based in the rice place with the right people in order to do it.

:14:51. > :14:54.-- right place. I have as good a chance as any and this could be the

:14:55. > :14:58.best year to do it. The thing is and all the other long jumpers will be

:14:59. > :15:02.afraid of this, is that when it really matters you seem to be able

:15:03. > :15:06.to produce the result. That's a precious gift as an athlete.

:15:07. > :15:12.Kilty, Even when I was younger I loved the big stages. Sadly

:15:13. > :15:19.something got in the way, injury, illness. But since 20 I've had the

:15:20. > :15:23.-- 2012 I love the big occasions. That's why I thrive. I train to

:15:24. > :15:26.hopefully perform well on a major stage. It will be no different. I

:15:27. > :15:30.will walk into the Olympic Stadium this year full of joy, pride and

:15:31. > :15:36.determination to do it again. You two there, do come and join us.

:15:37. > :15:40.We'll sneak in. This guy really has, what can you say the last four

:15:41. > :15:44.years? I was smiling the whole way through your interview there. For

:15:45. > :15:47.the real reason is I know and I've always had faith in you. You're a

:15:48. > :15:52.phenomenal athlete, even as a young man. I could see the potential

:15:53. > :15:54.there. Now you have that sense of consistency about your performances

:15:55. > :15:58.it's putting a smile on your face. The most important thing is you

:15:59. > :16:02.mentioned there having consistency in training, without any

:16:03. > :16:08.interruptions. That is going to elevate you hugely. With the Olympic

:16:09. > :16:11.Games as a target, what else is there, are we going to see another

:16:12. > :16:15.British record this year? I'd like to think so. I've opened the season

:16:16. > :16:19.better than ever before. Funny enough, I looked at what you guys

:16:20. > :16:22.used to, do you spent lots of periods of time overseas with the

:16:23. > :16:26.right people. My coach is in America. I have to see him. He's in

:16:27. > :16:29.Arizona, which is a lovely place to be as well. We are training in the

:16:30. > :16:33.right place with the right people. I've never opened a season like

:16:34. > :16:37.this. Even the Olympic year, it started well, but nothing like. This

:16:38. > :16:40.touch wood, obviously it maintains and conditions. I feel good.

:16:41. > :16:44.Consistency is key for winning medals. You must take encouragement

:16:45. > :16:51.from this all the injury problems you've had. You won a Silver Medal

:16:52. > :16:55.in 2006 and it took you to '12 to make the breakthrough. I'm list tong

:16:56. > :16:59.Greg and yeah, I'm taking in this information. As an athlete you have

:17:00. > :17:02.to do what's best for you. I had to do what's best for me in order to

:17:03. > :17:07.get back to wri want to be in terms of returning from injury. The necht

:17:08. > :17:10.step is to fulfil my potential. I would look a bit of the silverware

:17:11. > :17:15.and the gold. LAUGHTER

:17:16. > :17:19.Thanks for the moment. We are going to focus on the men's 100 now. It

:17:20. > :17:24.features the last two world indoor champions.

:17:25. > :17:32.The atmosphere builds. The men's 60 metres final.

:17:33. > :17:39.Kilty gets a flying start. So does Bromell. Kilty might just get there.

:17:40. > :17:45.Bromell wins it! Gold for Great Britain. Gold Medal for Kilty. Now

:17:46. > :17:53.that's a shock. Now he's the world champion. Trayvon Bromell comes out

:17:54. > :18:03.on top. They are the future of world sprinting.

:18:04. > :18:08.Right in the middle there the, I wouldn't say imposing figure of

:18:09. > :18:12.Trayvon Bromell, rather diminutive figure, but I notice he's wearing

:18:13. > :18:16.his tracksuit bottoms, maybe thinking he can win this without

:18:17. > :18:20.having to strip his bottoms off. Chijindu Ujah against him, Kim

:18:21. > :18:27.Collins, Richard Kilty. So the man who couldn't go and defend his title

:18:28. > :18:31.in Portland in March had to watch at home at Bromell beat Powell, who was

:18:32. > :18:38.perhaps the favourite going into that. Bromell ran a personal best in

:18:39. > :18:41.that final. Really good indeed. As Greg Rutherford was saying, another

:18:42. > :18:49.man training in America, Chijindu Ujah out there with his training

:18:50. > :18:56.group. He's run 10. 17 this year. Like Harry Aikines-Aryeetey that

:18:57. > :18:59.won't be good enough at this point. Bromell, third at the World

:19:00. > :19:06.Championships outdoors as well last year. Tied with the other great

:19:07. > :19:11.talent from Canada de Grasse. They are the future of world sprinting,

:19:12. > :19:15.amongst others. It's wrong to say he's the past. He's the future of

:19:16. > :19:19.40-year-old sprinting. He's just broken the world record for a

:19:20. > :19:28.40-year-old. Kim Collins former world champion, 10. 09 at age 40!

:19:29. > :19:41.Puts us all to shame. Richard Kilty, still only 26. He, like all our

:19:42. > :19:51.sprinters, knows that not only their individual berth is want they want

:19:52. > :19:54.to aim for but the relay chances. If they get the relay right that's a

:19:55. > :19:59.medal opportunity at the Olympic Games.

:20:00. > :20:08.Bromell feeling a little chilly here in Manchester. Can he warm up this

:20:09. > :20:13.track? Bromell gets a blistering start. Kilty gets away, so does Kim

:20:14. > :20:16.Collins. He's leading this. The 40-year-old is head of the two

:20:17. > :20:25.youngsters. Kim Collins is going to get there! 10. 07. The wind plus 3.

:20:26. > :20:31.2, so it's not another world record. It would have been, 10. 09 his best

:20:32. > :20:35.up to this point in the season. What a shock there. Bromell left his

:20:36. > :20:40.tracksuit bottoms on. He should have taken them off. He was not quick

:20:41. > :20:44.enough. He was well out of the blocks. Collins as ever always with

:20:45. > :20:49.a good start. Kilty, the three of them even after the first 20. But it

:20:50. > :20:56.was the veteran and I can use that word properly, he is a master, Kim

:20:57. > :21:00.Collins comes away with the win. You can almost see 20-year-old Trayvon

:21:01. > :21:05.Bromell seeing the 40-year-old Kim Collins run. Still such zip as well.

:21:06. > :21:09.I thought Bromell was going to come past him in the latter stages. Kim

:21:10. > :21:13.Collins holding on and looking strong. Kilty unable to get there.

:21:14. > :21:17.Trayvon Bromell, I expected him as the big star, the man who is such a

:21:18. > :21:21.huge talent, I thought he was going to come through. He wasn't making

:21:22. > :21:25.any ground on Kim Collins, his unique style, we've seen it for so

:21:26. > :21:32.many years now. It takes him to another victory here. Bromell a bit

:21:33. > :21:35.of a grin and a grimmace. Another victory in the remarkable career of

:21:36. > :21:40.Kim Collins by a distance. You can see on the photograph there, very

:21:41. > :21:44.close for second, but I think it's given to Bromell. A good way behind

:21:45. > :21:57.our winner Collins comfort A tremendous race Kim, you defy age

:21:58. > :22:01.yet again. Over 40, twice this guy's age here to your left, yet you took

:22:02. > :22:05.the victory? Yes, when you step on the line, age has nothing to do with

:22:06. > :22:10.it. Step on the line as men, that's what it's about. Age has nothing.

:22:11. > :22:14.I'm very happy to be able to do it at this age. Manchester is one of my

:22:15. > :22:18.favourite places after what - 14 years? It's great. Commonwealth

:22:19. > :22:22.champion 14 years ago, that's hard to believe. That's where you shot to

:22:23. > :22:27.fame. You've had many successes since. What can you possibly achieve

:22:28. > :22:32.then at this age in an Olympic year? I just want to go under ten seconds.

:22:33. > :22:39.I don't know about the year, my personal goal is to go under ten at

:22:40. > :22:44.40 and if I do that, I will retire. I want to come back indoors and set

:22:45. > :22:49.the world record at 40. After the indoor season next year we might see

:22:50. > :22:54.the end of you. Yes. I hope not. A lot more from you, of course, you

:22:55. > :22:59.burst onto the scene in spectacular style. This guy had you today? Yeah,

:23:00. > :23:03.it was a great race. I jumped out and I stumbled. I started seeing him

:23:04. > :23:07.moving. I tried to bring up my speed. Too late to kick. I was like,

:23:08. > :23:10.he got it. What's next for you as you build up to what's one of the

:23:11. > :23:13.biggest events outside the Olympics this year, obviously the trials in

:23:14. > :23:18.the US just to make your team is tough. Oh, yeah, it's going to be a

:23:19. > :23:21.lot of tough competition. I've got a strong mind set. Coming out here and

:23:22. > :23:26.losing a race don't mean I'm going to lose. It I've got a lot more to

:23:27. > :23:30.learn and be able to prove myself. I just got to keep moving forward.

:23:31. > :23:35.I've got faith in God. Best be to God. Thanks for being here today.

:23:36. > :23:42.Great to see you. All the best going forward. Thank you for having me

:23:43. > :24:02.here. Let's tidy up the result.

:24:03. > :24:07.On a Friday evening in Manchester, it turned out to be a 40-year-old

:24:08. > :24:13.who had all the moves. When a performance from Kim Collins. Here

:24:14. > :24:21.are the highlights from Deansgate. It was Greg Rutherford in the men's

:24:22. > :24:27.long jump,le. Jump,le. -- long jump, a Games record here in Manchester.

:24:28. > :24:30.In the women's 100m hurdles, British number one and European champion,

:24:31. > :24:34.Tiffany Porter showed a clean pair of heels to the rest of the field.

:24:35. > :24:40.She's building up nicely towards Rio.

:24:41. > :24:45.In the women's 100m, Dafne Schippers the new darling of the track, the

:24:46. > :24:54.darling of the sprints, she ran sub-11. As we have said it's a

:24:55. > :24:58.chilly evening here in Manchester. So guys, Kim Collins! We talked

:24:59. > :25:03.about the young guy, talked about the world indoor champions and Kim

:25:04. > :25:07.Collins defies science, everything. Yeah, he didn't get no mention, did

:25:08. > :25:11.he? No. No mention at all. Like I said, let the running do the

:25:12. > :25:17.talking. Today he shows you know, don't put an age on. It he's looking

:25:18. > :25:21.great, young as ever. You know Pharrell Williams, he never ages.

:25:22. > :25:26.They say he's like a vampire. That's what he looks like. The other three

:25:27. > :25:29.must have been running along thinking, "This shouldn't be

:25:30. > :25:34.happening." Yeah you do have that bit of feeling. How is this man

:25:35. > :25:39.possibly run soing quickly? -- running so quickly? You hit it on

:25:40. > :25:42.the head. You have to have the right ambition. He sets himself the

:25:43. > :25:45.targets. Kim has said already, I wants to go under ten seconds. He

:25:46. > :25:49.knows how much work he needs to do to go under ten seconds. He's been

:25:50. > :25:53.there before. Now he wants to do it as a 40-year-old. Exactly the same

:25:54. > :25:56.as indoors, he wants to set the world indoor record for a

:25:57. > :26:01.40-year-old. If you keep it in your mind that you want to get to the

:26:02. > :26:06.top, you need to do what you need to do and you will do it. Confidence

:26:07. > :26:10.for the British guys going to the trials and trying to get in the team

:26:11. > :26:13.for Rio, that's not great for CJ particularly, he said the gun was

:26:14. > :26:18.quick. But for Richard as well. It's the sort of performance they don't

:26:19. > :26:23.want at this time. You're talking of what - sorry... I missed that bit.

:26:24. > :26:27.It's difficult with the sound isn't it. For CJ and for Richard, it's a

:26:28. > :26:31.dent to their confidence to get beaten like that? I know, you don't

:26:32. > :26:35.want to be beaten. But I'm sure they were looking at each other more.

:26:36. > :26:39.Obviously they would have liked to have finished higher. Again, they'll

:26:40. > :26:43.go back and look and see what they need to work on. It's another race

:26:44. > :26:49.under their belt. They're going to look forward to the next one. Nerms

:26:50. > :26:54.of the women's -- in terms of the women's 100m, Dafne Schippers sub-11

:26:55. > :26:58.seconds, not a quick evening. Yeah, with a strong wind behind it

:26:59. > :27:01.registered there, lots of the athletes are frustrated with the

:27:02. > :27:05.wind speeds. But again it's about getting the runs under your belt.

:27:06. > :27:09.That is going to be really what's going to be paramount for her. Under

:27:10. > :27:14.11 seconds again. If I'm honest, not a very good start. With that in

:27:15. > :27:18.mind, we will see lot from Dafne Schippers come the Olympics. You

:27:19. > :27:23.wouldn't bet against her. No. Doing the double, it's not impossible. No,

:27:24. > :27:28.a lot of athletes are able to do, put on a fast 100 and 200 metres,

:27:29. > :27:32.they can double up. I'm sure she's got her eyes on both medals. Let's

:27:33. > :28:08.remind you of some of the things on BBC Sport:

:28:09. > :28:14.The FA Cup Final is on at 5. 30 on BBC One. What a day it's been,

:28:15. > :28:19.Friday evening in Manchester. The rain is coming down, but that hasn't

:28:20. > :28:23.dampened spirits. We're back on the streets of Manchester on Sunday for

:28:24. > :28:45.the Great Manchester Run. See you then, bye-bye.

:28:46. > :29:03.I think we're in for a real cracker.

:29:04. > :29:04.This could be the game of the season.

:29:05. > :29:08.There's going to be fireworks. A repeat of the 1995...
