0:00:11 > 0:00:15Welcome to Glasgow for the indoor Grand Prix, the first track and

0:00:15 > 0:00:19field of 2018 and perfect opportunity to see the best of

0:00:19 > 0:00:23British and the world's athletes ahead of the world indoor

0:00:23 > 0:00:27Championships in Birmingham on Thursday. According to a recent

0:00:27 > 0:00:30poll, athletics was voted the most exciting sport to watch by the

0:00:30 > 0:00:34British public and we hope over the next three and a half hours we can

0:00:34 > 0:00:35prove them right.

0:00:41 > 0:00:46Great support from the home crowd. That is what the crowd wanted to

0:00:46 > 0:00:51see.

0:00:53 > 0:00:59see.She has done it! That is enormous!

0:01:00 > 0:01:09Here comes Andrew Pozzi. Andrew Pozzi just got there in the end.

0:01:09 > 0:01:20That is a huge jump.

0:01:22 > 0:01:32Really good performance from Dina Asher-Smith.Dafne Schippers for

0:01:32 > 0:01:36gold.No doubt about the gold medal, it

0:01:36 > 0:01:36it was

0:01:36 > 0:01:39gold.No doubt about the gold medal, it was written for her.Well,

0:01:39 > 0:01:42British athletics billet as the best indoor athletics meeting of the

0:01:42 > 0:01:49world. We will see big names, multiple medallists like Dafne

0:01:49 > 0:01:54Schippers of Scotland and Adam Gemili, and Dina Asher-Smith. The

0:01:54 > 0:02:00crowds are out to see some of the big names like Elaine Thompson of

0:02:00 > 0:02:05Jamaica there, who has come to enjoy the Glasgow sunshine. We should be

0:02:05 > 0:02:09outside, it is glorious! But we are glad we are here.

0:02:09 > 0:02:12outside, it is glorious! But we are glad we are here. Seven track and

0:02:27 > 0:02:29sessions on BBC Two, kicking off on Thursday and the 3000 metres.

0:02:29 > 0:02:35What a place Scotland was to arrive yesterday evening after the Calcutta

0:02:35 > 0:02:40Cup victory between England and Scotland in the Six Nations. Looking

0:02:40 > 0:02:45forward to top class athletics here, as are we, and likely to be reunited

0:02:45 > 0:02:50with Denise Lewis and Paula Radcliffe. Paula Radcliffe and I

0:02:50 > 0:02:54have been out freezing watching cross country over the winter.

0:02:54 > 0:03:00Denise Lewis is back. An opportunity this season, with it being a

0:03:00 > 0:03:04Commonwealth and European year, athletes who got close in London can

0:03:04 > 0:03:09get themselves up there on the podium. It is time to make the

0:03:09 > 0:03:16transition. The athletes, the likes of Pozzi and Dina Asher-Smith,

0:03:16 > 0:03:20although she was injured last year, she will look at this year, as with

0:03:20 > 0:03:24all the British athletes, as an opportunity to take medals. They

0:03:24 > 0:03:29have bites of the Cherry and rightly so. They should expect to raise

0:03:29 > 0:03:35their game in a year.The Commonwealth Games, European

0:03:35 > 0:03:40Championships. Some athletes we will see today we will not see in the

0:03:40 > 0:03:43world indoors, such as Dina Asher-Smith, and some have made the

0:03:43 > 0:03:46decision to go to the Commonwealth Games or not do the Commonwealth

0:03:46 > 0:03:51Games. It must be difficult with a big indoor championships like the

0:03:51 > 0:03:56World Championships because the Commonwealth Games is early.It is a

0:03:56 > 0:04:00tricky stepping stone, managing year with the Commonwealth Games in April

0:04:00 > 0:04:05in Brisbane. Athletes have to manage that with the world indoors and it

0:04:05 > 0:04:11is only five weeks between the two, then having a break and coming back

0:04:11 > 0:04:14for the European Championships later in the summer. You have athletes

0:04:14 > 0:04:20like Laura Muir who have decided to stay, partly because of her studies,

0:04:20 > 0:04:24and training, she has decided to forget the call of games and get

0:04:24 > 0:04:30ready for the European. And we have the champion who is going for it.He

0:04:30 > 0:04:36has time to make up after a nasty injury that kept him out of

0:04:36 > 0:04:41athletics, but he is in form and looking good. Why not? If you plan

0:04:41 > 0:04:45this, as Paula hit the nail on the head, you have hurt to have a good

0:04:45 > 0:04:50plan in place and know how you will approach this year. Some people will

0:04:50 > 0:04:55opt to do the world indoors. But he has an opportunity to keep racing

0:04:55 > 0:05:05because some people have had to sacrifice may be a good body of work

0:05:05 > 0:05:07in training to do all three championships. It is about getting

0:05:07 > 0:05:10the balance right. Laura is going for the double at the world indoors

0:05:10 > 0:05:13because of her veterinary studies that finished this year, it is

0:05:13 > 0:05:17important championship to cement that title. To build on that. She

0:05:17 > 0:05:22announced herself a little bit with the European double she did

0:05:22 > 0:05:28convincingly. It will not be easy for the world indoors. It has been

0:05:28 > 0:05:32hard, competing for Scotland is important so it was hard to say no

0:05:32 > 0:05:36to the Commonwealth Games. Now she wants to focus and make it count at

0:05:36 > 0:05:40the world indoors because then she will have to concentrate on studies,

0:05:40 > 0:05:44get that out of the way before building up to the European

0:05:44 > 0:05:48Championships.Greg Rutherford we did not see much of last year.

0:05:48 > 0:05:53Pretty much broke the season. The won the British Championships last

0:05:53 > 0:05:59week and is here today.

0:05:59 > 0:06:01week and is here today. You get the sense he is feeling his way this

0:06:01 > 0:06:05season. If things go well we will probably see him in Birmingham?I'm

0:06:05 > 0:06:09surprised he is managing to compete at the British trials. He had

0:06:09 > 0:06:14surgery on his ankle and for the hernia new Mac that have been a

0:06:14 > 0:06:19problem. He is back in here so experienced, he has to make the

0:06:19 > 0:06:24right choices. He is 31. He knows if he gets close to the eight metres

0:06:24 > 0:06:30mark he is in with a chance. Both of the guys have jumped further than

0:06:30 > 0:06:37him this season but he thinks, if I am fit, anything can happen. He is

0:06:37 > 0:06:42not intimidated. He knows if he is fit and well he can surprise. On the

0:06:42 > 0:06:47global stage, he is not here today but will be in Birmingham, Kristin

0:06:47 > 0:06:53Coleman, just got a new world record in the 60 metres. 6.34, smashing

0:06:53 > 0:07:00Maurice Greene's world records so a mouthwatering prospect.It could be

0:07:00 > 0:07:05incredible. I will not say it will be the race of the tournament but it

0:07:05 > 0:07:11is cracking. He is in fine form but can he deliver when it matters? In a

0:07:11 > 0:07:15way, what happened in a metres in London overshadowed his performance,

0:07:15 > 0:07:23the headlines went other waves. He is one of those who could be on the

0:07:23 > 0:07:30global stage, replacing the likes of Usain Bolt, Mo Farah. He is in the

0:07:30 > 0:07:34frame. A lot of people are ready to step up and he is putting himself

0:07:34 > 0:07:40forward and we have to underline he ran that slightly at altitude in

0:07:40 > 0:07:44Albuquerque. The times can be quicker slightly for sprint at

0:07:44 > 0:07:48altitude so it will be interesting in Birmingham to see how it

0:07:48 > 0:07:52translates.Birmingham is not very hilly!

0:07:52 > 0:07:54translates.Birmingham is not very hilly! OK, this is how the afternoon

0:07:54 > 0:08:02is going to shape up. The heats of the 60 metres coming up with their

0:08:02 > 0:08:09and their 400 metres with Doyle. Tom Bosworth back in action. We will see

0:08:09 > 0:08:14the undisputed world number one in the high jump and we have heats and

0:08:14 > 0:08:21a final in men's and within's 60 metres flat. The women's event

0:08:21 > 0:08:23high-class with Dafne Schippers and Dina Asher-Smith and Elaine

0:08:23 > 0:08:33Thompson. Andy Pozzi is going over the hurdles and after the finals of

0:08:33 > 0:08:36the 60 metres, home favourite Lynsey Sharp closes the meeting in the 800

0:08:36 > 0:08:49metres. Next up, out on the track for commentary. And there is the

0:08:49 > 0:08:57athlete who won the US trials. I will say hello to Steve Backley,

0:08:57 > 0:09:03Kathleen Mary, Colin Jackson and Andrew Cotter. COMMENTATOR: An

0:09:03 > 0:09:07interesting day yesterday and a great afternoon of athletics to look

0:09:07 > 0:09:13forward to. This is the start list, the first of two heats in their

0:09:13 > 0:09:22women's 60 metres hurdles.

0:09:22 > 0:09:27women's 60 metres hurdles. Marilyn Nwawulor one of two British

0:09:27 > 0:09:32representatives at the world indoors.

0:09:32 > 0:09:40indoors. She ran 8.13 to get the qualifying standard. Raven Clay we

0:09:40 > 0:09:47have talked about strength in depth in American women's hurdling. Raven

0:09:47 > 0:09:52Clay is not the finest of them but still very strong. Megan Simons,

0:09:52 > 0:09:59Jamaican champion a couple of years ago, coached by Stephen Francis.

0:09:59 > 0:10:04Owens, seventh in the US indoor final. You think seventh but in the

0:10:04 > 0:10:08US championships that is an achievement. 7.94 she ran in

0:10:08 > 0:10:24Albuquerque. And the US champion, cherie canal this -- Sharika Nelvis.

0:10:25 > 0:10:33And Isabel Pedersen. And Lindsey Lindley of Nigeria, now an American

0:10:33 > 0:10:39who runs for Nigeria. She ran in the indoor meeting at Athlone recently

0:10:39 > 0:10:45and won. Three go through automatically from

0:10:45 > 0:10:50the two heats and then the two fastest losers, to the final, at

0:10:50 > 0:10:553:20pm. The first of the senior track

0:10:55 > 0:11:04events. We have had junior club relays to warm us up.

0:11:04 > 0:11:17The first of two heats in the women's 60 metres hurdles.

0:11:28 > 0:11:33Sharika Nelvis stumbled.

0:11:33 > 0:11:39Sharika Nelvis, she did save it and comes through to take second, just

0:11:39 > 0:11:45ahead of Owens. Welcome to Glasgow, Sharika Nelvis, watch your step.

0:11:45 > 0:11:52Isabel Pedersen takes the victory. It took an athlete of Sharika

0:11:52 > 0:11:56Nelvis's quality to come back after the early stumbled.I was watching

0:11:56 > 0:12:01carefully and they skidded back. She lost traction at the beginning, the

0:12:01 > 0:12:06most crucial part of the race, but she kept her head, she knows how

0:12:06 > 0:12:11good she is and she went past all the rest of the field. She works

0:12:11 > 0:12:18hard. Keeping a cool head, thinking and my imposition, yes, I have

0:12:18 > 0:12:22enough to see myself through but next time in the final she has to

0:12:22 > 0:12:27make sure the blocks are well fixed in the floor, because that was the

0:12:27 > 0:12:34problem, they skidded back. We can look again. Everything shot back.

0:12:34 > 0:12:38She lost everything you need to get impetus going into the first hurdle,

0:12:38 > 0:12:44but because of the quality of athlete she is, she was able to do

0:12:44 > 0:12:47that. STUDIO: Wow, not the start Sharika

0:12:47 > 0:12:51Nelvis was hoping for and to win the US trials you have to be a talent

0:12:51 > 0:12:56because that event is loaded with talent. Coming up, we have the men's

0:12:56 > 0:13:0360 metres heats and competing for Great Britain are Adam Gemili and CJ

0:13:03 > 0:13:05Ujah, Brothers in Arms last summer at the World Championships.

0:13:05 > 0:13:06Ujah, Brothers in Arms last summer at the World Championships.

0:13:11 > 0:13:16We believe we have always have the ability to challenge the world's

0:13:16 > 0:13:22best.I knew I wanted to give the team the best start. London, home

0:13:22 > 0:13:27champs. I believed we would win it. There was a calm demeanour.Everyone

0:13:27 > 0:13:31knew the work was done. We stuck together and believed in each other

0:13:31 > 0:13:39and it culminated in one of the best nights of my life.Add any

0:13:39 > 0:13:42Championships, it is great to win that we were lucky to do it in front

0:13:42 > 0:13:48of a great crowd and a moment like that will stay with us for ever. The

0:13:48 > 0:13:53rest was pretty much a blur. It is our time to step up and win medals

0:13:53 > 0:13:58individually. We did it as a relay that if you ask those guys, it is

0:13:58 > 0:14:02about being an individual champion and we have the talent across all

0:14:02 > 0:14:07events.Being number one in that podium, that is the main goal. I

0:14:07 > 0:14:10have achieved the little girls, like achieving a relay gold medal with

0:14:10 > 0:14:17the guys. Hopefully get that at the Olympics, as well, now it is

0:14:17 > 0:14:21individually.What has brought you to Glasgow?This is a stepping stone

0:14:21 > 0:14:26in preparation for the world indoors. It would be nice to come

0:14:26 > 0:14:32out of nationals to racing some of the fastest guys in the world. Get a

0:14:32 > 0:14:36little feeling, six and seven days of rest and then we go again.I am

0:14:36 > 0:14:39still building and in quite heavy training, building into the

0:14:39 > 0:14:43Commonwealth Games but I will go and test myself and use it to compete

0:14:43 > 0:14:48with the best guys. It is a world-class field. The British

0:14:48 > 0:14:52athletes are there and a lot of guys are using it for preparation for the

0:14:52 > 0:14:56world indoors and I am using it as preparation for the Commonwealth

0:14:56 > 0:15:05Games.I have the leeway where I can race back to back weeks. I feel I am

0:15:05 > 0:15:11getting faster every race. Now it is on to Glasgow and the world. I am

0:15:11 > 0:15:15excited for Britain, especially going into Tokyo. I expect to see a

0:15:15 > 0:15:20lot of men and women. The women are still building but they are

0:15:20 > 0:15:27unbelievable athletes. We will see a lot more medals. That is the hope.

0:15:27 > 0:15:31Those men 60-metre heats go off just after 4pm. It was such an exciting

0:15:31 > 0:15:36day, that final day, in terms of British sprinting success. There did

0:15:36 > 0:15:43seem to be this rich talent that was getting itself on the podium in

0:15:43 > 0:15:46those relays but how easy or how much inspiration will they get from

0:15:46 > 0:15:49that in terms of taking that into individual success? They're going to

0:15:49 > 0:15:54draw a lot of inspiration from that. I can't begin to tell you what it

0:15:54 > 0:15:57feels like when you stand on that podium having all that belief and

0:15:57 > 0:16:04all that expectation and anticipation of that moment. What

0:16:04 > 0:16:07you get from these guys, and the women sprinters, is this

0:16:07 > 0:16:13overwhelming sense of belief that they are able. And a sense of

0:16:13 > 0:16:15belonging. They don't fear anyone but it will be difficult to make

0:16:15 > 0:16:22that transition but mentally, how can you become those world beaters?

0:16:22 > 0:16:29Don't fear the Americans! We saw the changing of the guard in a way

0:16:29 > 0:16:32because Jamaican sprinting seems to be kind of coming over the other

0:16:32 > 0:16:36side of the hill a little bit at that World Championships and so

0:16:36 > 0:16:41they're not invincible.They're not. It's about preparation, the mental

0:16:41 > 0:16:45preparation. Being good, getting in the right races. Today is a great

0:16:45 > 0:16:48opportunity for both those guys in their preparation for the year. I

0:16:48 > 0:16:53think they're in a good place.Just after 4pm, their heats. Let's see

0:16:53 > 0:16:59the second of these 60-metre heats.

0:16:59 > 0:17:06Let's bring you up to speed with the result of the first qualifier.

0:17:08 > 0:17:10result of the first qualifier. Such is the form of Sharika Nelvis,

0:17:10 > 0:17:17automatically through.

0:17:21 > 0:17:24So, the second heat in this women's 60-metre hurdles. Here's your full

0:17:24 > 0:17:30list. The familiar name now of Christina Manning of the USA in lane

0:17:30 > 0:17:37five.

0:17:37 > 0:17:40The first three and two thrusters will join their fellow athlete in

0:17:40 > 0:17:47the final. Beaks cropped, the bronze-medallist from 2012 -- Beate

0:17:47 > 0:17:53Schrott. She's in lane two. The lass from Derby, Jasmine Miller -- Yasmin

0:17:53 > 0:17:58Miller. Second at the indoor champ Egypt last week in Birmingham. 8.17

0:17:58 > 0:18:04seconds this indoor season. A semifinalist in the US indoor

0:18:04 > 0:18:08Championships in Albuquerque last week, Jade Barber. Sub 13 second 100

0:18:08 > 0:18:15metre hurdle in outdoor. Christina Manning, third at the US indoor

0:18:15 > 0:18:21Championships but she's equal sixth on the all-time list. 7.73 seconds.

0:18:21 > 0:18:29Lane six, last year's under 23 champion and the 100 metre hurdles.

0:18:29 > 0:18:35Nadine Visser. 7.91 seconds this season. The smile of the new British

0:18:35 > 0:18:39champion, Megan Marrs, world indoor abound. She's been invited by the

0:18:39 > 0:18:44IAAF to compete next week in Birmingham. Evonne Britton of the

0:18:44 > 0:18:49USA starts in the outside lane. A semifinalist in the US indoor

0:18:49 > 0:18:58Championships last week. It's a tidy line up.

0:18:58 > 0:19:05Looking to join those automatically through from the first heat of the

0:19:05 > 0:19:10women's 60 metre hurdle. Christina Manning didn't quite get the job

0:19:10 > 0:19:12done last week in Albuquerque at the US Championships. She finished

0:19:12 > 0:19:19third.

0:19:33 > 0:19:43A clean start. Fall on the inside. Nice and easy, 8.04 seconds for

0:19:43 > 0:19:51Christina Manning of the USA. The battle

0:19:51 > 0:19:55battle she's had with Nelvis are looking set to continue. Good tidy

0:19:55 > 0:20:00running.Tidy, yes. That's the way I've described that. Nothing too

0:20:00 > 0:20:06sharp. She's a woman who's gone under that 7.8 mark. You expect a

0:20:06 > 0:20:10little sharper but remember from those US Championships, she's had to

0:20:10 > 0:20:15travel. She was probably feeling the track here but that was incredible

0:20:15 > 0:20:18from Yasmin Miller. Unfortunately for the good Derby last, she crashes

0:20:18 > 0:20:25to the floor whilst running takes a comfortable victory. Right-hand side

0:20:25 > 0:20:30of our screen, she clatters that hurdle. Trips herself up, plunges to

0:20:30 > 0:20:39the floor. She will be bitterly disappointed. In contrast,

0:20:39 > 0:20:41disappointed. In contrast, Manning threw to the final. This final will

0:20:41 > 0:20:46be one to look forward to. Manning and Melrose have had a close

0:20:46 > 0:20:54competition. They've been training, and as Andrew mentioned earlier,

0:20:54 > 0:20:59just before 3:20pm, the women's 60 metre hurdle final should be a good

0:20:59 > 0:21:06one.

0:21:09 > 0:21:15Confirmation, then. Christina Manning automatically through. As

0:21:15 > 0:21:20our Nadine Visser and Jade Barber. Want to look forward to.These are

0:21:20 > 0:21:31the qualifiers for that final. Sharika Nelvis through despite the

0:21:31 > 0:21:37stumble on the blocks. Lindsay Lindley going through as the fastest

0:21:37 > 0:21:38loser.

0:21:38 > 0:21:44Lindley going through as the fastest loser.Sharika Nelvis' 7.70 in the

0:21:44 > 0:21:48US trials, the third fastest of all time. It tells you what kind of

0:21:48 > 0:21:53shape she's in. The last person you would expect to have a start like

0:21:53 > 0:21:56that but it can happen to the best of them.Happens in hurdles, happens

0:21:56 > 0:22:03all the time. What she has done this year and so far in the season

0:22:03 > 0:22:05all the time. What she has done this year and so far in the season is be

0:22:05 > 0:22:11consistently cool and consistent. It was a real surprise, a real shock,

0:22:11 > 0:22:16to see her do that. Just stumbling, trying to drive out. Naturally you

0:22:16 > 0:22:19have to drive out hard but she didn't get her feet down in the

0:22:19 > 0:22:24right place. Because she's such an accomplished athlete, she can still

0:22:24 > 0:22:30run and qualify. You can't really... That kind of stumble, you may as

0:22:30 > 0:22:35well be better standing starting -- starting standing up. You have no

0:22:35 > 0:22:39drive out of the blocks effectively so you have to create that momentum

0:22:39 > 0:22:42from nothing. You lose all your power and speed. She just had to get

0:22:42 > 0:22:48back into it and start to pick up in the latter stages of this race. It

0:22:48 > 0:22:53does happen. We've seen it before. We've seen Bolt do its time and time

0:22:53 > 0:22:55again. That fine line between the centre of

0:22:55 > 0:22:58again. That fine line between the centre of cavity and getting your

0:22:58 > 0:23:02feet underneath you and driving hard. She got it wrong. There's no

0:23:02 > 0:23:04difference between indoor and outdoor technique in terms of the

0:23:04 > 0:23:08blocks.Not really. You don't have to factor it in. This is about

0:23:08 > 0:23:14power. People have to be consistent and sometimes a slight adjustments

0:23:14 > 0:23:17can have massive consequences. We mention Greg Rutherford is perhaps

0:23:17 > 0:23:22using this event to gauge where he is and how he's feeling. He says

0:23:22 > 0:23:26he's not going to the Commonwealth Games and he's arriving looking very

0:23:26 > 0:23:30cool and relaxed, shades on for the Glasgow sunshine. He'll be looking,

0:23:30 > 0:23:35I think, for around the eight-metre mark today to determine whether or

0:23:35 > 0:23:40not he'll be in Birmingham next week. That's so hard to predict. It

0:23:40 > 0:23:44really is. He's missed a lot of work. He didn't jump much last

0:23:44 > 0:23:48season and on top of that, only having a few jumps in this season.

0:23:48 > 0:23:53It's not easy for him. But if anyone can, you can.I love the field

0:23:53 > 0:23:56events indoors. There's a change of atmosphere that really makes those

0:23:56 > 0:23:59events very tight and the whole thing is very tight anyway because

0:23:59 > 0:24:04the track is a lot smaller the pole vault am I think, mostly my

0:24:04 > 0:24:08favourite indoors. I don't know what it is, Steve, but we're so close to

0:24:08 > 0:24:13it now, it feels like it has a very different atmosphere to an outdoor

0:24:13 > 0:24:22event.No doubt about that. A treat for fans this afternoon. The world

0:24:22 > 0:24:26number one, Katerina Stefanidi, is up. A chance to check in with Sally

0:24:26 > 0:24:28number one, Katerina Stefanidi, is up. A chance to check in with Sally

0:24:28 > 0:24:32Peake. First-time clearance at the opening height of four metres. Only

0:24:32 > 0:24:37her and her team-mate Molly Caudery have entered the condition so far.

0:24:37 > 0:24:45The bar is now 4.15 metres. Sally Peake, first attempt. Big Bend, good

0:24:45 > 0:24:50clearance. OK. Two Jones, two clearances were Sally Peake. Good

0:24:50 > 0:24:58memories in the past. Commonwealth Games, 2014, silver-medallist. Off

0:24:58 > 0:25:05to a good start this afternoon.

0:25:05 > 0:25:05to a good start this afternoon. One

0:25:05 > 0:25:05Games, 2014, silver-medallist. Off to a good start this afternoon. One

0:25:05 > 0:25:09of a clutch of bright youngsters, Molly Caudery, just 17 years of age.

0:25:09 > 0:25:17She took the British title in last weekend. A lifetime best. 4.15

0:25:17 > 0:25:24metres, second attempt. She got a foul on her first. That's better.

0:25:24 > 0:25:29Her indoor season going very well indeed. She's the youngest member of

0:25:29 > 0:25:36England's Commonwealth Games team to travel to Australia in April. Four

0:25:36 > 0:25:39point three metres will be her next height. The next event on track is

0:25:39 > 0:25:46the women's 400 metres. Straight final. There is the line-up for it.

0:25:49 > 0:25:52Phyllis Francis is the world champion.

0:25:58 > 0:26:02Good lane to have on the board. Looking for five or six perhaps in

0:26:02 > 0:26:07the 400 metres. Eilidh Doyle will get the loudest cheer of the day in

0:26:07 > 0:26:12front of the Scottish crowd. UK indoor champion. Just inside her,

0:26:12 > 0:26:21Phyllis Francis, the world champion in London last year, in dread con --

0:26:21 > 0:26:24dreadful conditions, what a race for Phyllis Francis. Stephenie Ann

0:26:24 > 0:26:29McPherson, now the world bronze-medallist from Moscow back in

0:26:29 > 0:26:372013 after disqualification of a Russian athlete. He is Anita Horvat.

0:26:37 > 0:26:4221 years old. She is second in the standings for the mini to where they

0:26:42 > 0:26:51have, the IAAF indoor tour. Kaliese Spencer, first-time indoors this

0:26:51 > 0:26:57season. Another one better known as a hurdler. Outstanding hurdler. 2014

0:26:57 > 0:27:03Commonwealth champion. On the inside, Anyika Onuora. This her

0:27:03 > 0:27:08first the real year of running 400 metres indoors properly and felt a

0:27:08 > 0:27:13bit hard done by at UK Championships. Run 53.01, which is

0:27:13 > 0:27:17inside the world qualifying standards but disqualified for

0:27:17 > 0:27:20running out of her lane. A very different beast, the 400 metres

0:27:20 > 0:27:31indoors. Break after the second bend and then it

0:27:32 > 0:27:35and then it can be confusing over the lanes and breaking point and

0:27:35 > 0:27:40athletes can fall foul of that. Eilidh Doyle on the outside. Then

0:27:40 > 0:27:44Phyllis Francis, Stephenie Ann McPherson, Anita Horvat in lane

0:27:44 > 0:27:49three, Kaliese Spencer into and Anyika Onuora on the inside. The

0:27:49 > 0:27:52women's 400 metres.

0:28:02 > 0:28:12Eilidh Doyle knows that her main challengers are just inside.

0:28:18 > 0:28:20Stephenie Ann McPherson leaving a bit of pace perhaps for the second

0:28:20 > 0:28:27half of the race.

0:28:28 > 0:28:31Eilidh Doyle wants that bleed and the cheers and roars of the crowd.

0:28:31 > 0:28:34Can she hang on?

0:28:52 > 0:28:56Nowhere to for Stephenie Ann McPherson. Ellis Frist takes the win

0:28:56 > 0:29:00from Eilidh Doyle. Stephenie Ann McPherson closed down and on balance

0:29:00 > 0:29:04upset on the home straight. She finishes in third. She might have

0:29:04 > 0:29:08something to say about that but there was no way through fourth her.

0:29:08 > 0:29:14Eilidh Doyle did not open the gap and Phyllis Francis strong enough to

0:29:14 > 0:29:18take the victory. It was an interesting race and really messy,

0:29:18 > 0:29:21as well. Phyllis Francis got the advantage coming through the first

0:29:21 > 0:29:25200 metres but didn't utilise it. But Eilidh Doyle took advantage and

0:29:25 > 0:29:30swept in down the back straight in front of Frist and it looked like

0:29:30 > 0:29:34Eilidh Doyle would run the perfect race but the world champion was

0:29:34 > 0:29:39going to dig deep, travelling over year to Scotland. I'm not quite sure

0:29:39 > 0:29:42what is McPherson was doing. You're not going on the inside on a

0:29:42 > 0:29:49400-metre race. Eilidh Doyle had her eyes on the prize but the strength

0:29:49 > 0:29:51of the world champion, Phyllis Francis, pulled away in the end. The

0:29:51 > 0:29:54only person who ran a tactically good race for me there was Eilidh

0:29:54 > 0:29:59Doyle but the world champion comes away with the win.She get herself a

0:29:59 > 0:30:04great chance, Eilidh Doyle. Running down the rail on the inside. Lactic

0:30:04 > 0:30:07acid deliberate taking your toll. Losing her balance and finding

0:30:07 > 0:30:11herself right on the inside. A message race from Stephenie Ann

0:30:11 > 0:30:14McPherson but Phyllis Francis the winner and Eilidh Doyle a good race

0:30:14 > 0:30:19in second place.

0:30:19 > 0:30:19unbelievable athletes. We will see a lot more medals. That is the hope.

0:30:19 > 0:30:24What a phenomenal final.How was it for you? It was great, first-time

0:30:24 > 0:30:28running here, amazing, the competition was great. Energy level,

0:30:28 > 0:30:35amazing.It was cool. That was bold, how did it go free you?Really

0:30:35 > 0:30:40happy. I wanted to be aggressive with the break and I think I was.

0:30:40 > 0:30:44This is what is going to happen in the world indoors. I came prepared

0:30:44 > 0:30:52today and it puts me in good stead for next weekend. You will be taking

0:30:52 > 0:30:57part in the 100 metres relay. How is the US team looking? Looking great,

0:30:57 > 0:31:03I'm excited. You? Serving. You have come here, from Texas, what is it

0:31:03 > 0:31:09like coming here and acclimatising? It is no big deal. I had a day and a

0:31:09 > 0:31:13half to adjust everything. It has been great. The environment is cool

0:31:13 > 0:31:20and we are ready to go next week. You had to travel for this but you

0:31:20 > 0:31:24are back on home soil?I do not live far away my family are here to watch

0:31:24 > 0:31:30me which is lovely to have that for a change.A fantastic race to get us

0:31:30 > 0:31:37started. Best of luck next weekend. COMMENTATOR: A good

0:31:37 > 0:31:38started. Best of luck next weekend. COMMENTATOR: A good win for Francis.

0:31:38 > 0:31:44The American team is strong.

0:31:54 > 0:32:00STUDIO: Eilidh Doyle, she often uses the 400 metres flat. Part of the

0:32:00 > 0:32:04British outdoor quartet. She particularly focuses on the indoor

0:32:04 > 0:32:04season on

0:32:04 > 0:32:06particularly focuses on the indoor season on the 400 flat, looking in

0:32:06 > 0:32:11good shape. She has changed her training base. She is training as

0:32:11 > 0:32:17she always does very hard. Changed her environment a little bit. What

0:32:17 > 0:32:22you always expect and is constant about her, is her commitment and how

0:32:22 > 0:32:27she approaches races, especially indoors. She knows how important

0:32:27 > 0:32:33getting to the 200 mark first is as she puts herself always in the right

0:32:33 > 0:32:34position. For me, she

0:32:34 > 0:32:34she puts herself always in the right position. For me, she ran a good

0:32:34 > 0:32:38race.

0:32:38 > 0:32:44position. For me, she ran a good race.

0:32:44 > 0:32:48race. Eilidh Doyle here dominant, taking her time. Making sure she is

0:32:48 > 0:32:51giving herself every opportunity to watch and respond should she need

0:32:51 > 0:33:02to. I think she is confident indoors. She runs a good relay and

0:33:02 > 0:33:10make sure she is a member of that quartet.

0:33:10 > 0:33:15quartet.Known as Eilidh Child, of course. She has been British captain

0:33:15 > 0:33:20as well. Heading into a season of the world indoors and Commonwealth

0:33:20 > 0:33:24Games, she has complete confidence and comfortable demeanour

0:33:24 > 0:33:24Games, she has complete confidence and comfortable demeanour on this

0:33:24 > 0:33:29stage. Going into Championships she knows how to prepare. She is a

0:33:29 > 0:33:34reliable athlete. She has a wealth of experience on and off the track.

0:33:34 > 0:33:40What she needs to do and she knows it, it is very small, finding that

0:33:40 > 0:33:45extra bit of speed she can take indoors and consequently outside for

0:33:45 > 0:33:47the hurdles.OK it is the turn of

0:33:47 > 0:33:47indoors and consequently outside for the hurdles.OK it is the turn of

0:33:47 > 0:33:55the men. COMMENTATOR: It is indeed. We saw

0:33:55 > 0:34:01some messy running in the winner's 400 metres but the home crowd buoyed

0:34:01 > 0:34:08by the running of their home star Eilidh Doyle. Another men. It should

0:34:08 > 0:34:13be an interesting race, because the athlete in lane number five, Fred

0:34:13 > 0:34:17Kerley from the USA, starting to talk about a possible world record

0:34:17 > 0:34:25in Glasgow which is a big ask. 44.57 seconds set in 2005. There he is,

0:34:25 > 0:34:32Fred Kerley in lane number five. Good British representation.

0:34:32 > 0:34:36Athletes going to the world indoor Championships for Great Britain in

0:34:36 > 0:34:49the relay in lanes 1-3. In number six, from Slovenia, European under

0:34:49 > 0:35:0023 champion last year, Luka Janezic. The world number four.

0:35:00 > 0:35:03The world number four. 45.18 seconds, third at the US indoor

0:35:03 > 0:35:08Championships. Had a tactical nightmare last week in Albuquerque.

0:35:08 > 0:35:15The fourth fastest athlete of all time. Over 400 metres. Dontavius

0:35:15 > 0:35:20Wright in lane number four. Outdoors, just over 45 seconds. And

0:35:20 > 0:35:27a trio of British athletes. Jamal Rhoden-Stevens, third at the UK

0:35:27 > 0:35:34Championships last week. Going to Birmingham next weekend. Owen Smith,

0:35:34 > 0:35:43the Welsh athlete, twice world champion. And on the inside, from

0:35:43 > 0:35:50Sheffield, Grant Plenderleith. Fourth at the UK Championships. A

0:35:50 > 0:35:58big cheer for him. The men's 400 metres UK champion Lee Thompson

0:35:58 > 0:36:02concentrating on the world indoor Championships next weekend. So, Mr

0:36:02 > 0:36:08Fred Kerley, fourth fastest of all time. He said he is feeling good.

0:36:08 > 0:36:16Looking for something special here.

0:36:38 > 0:36:45Fred Kerley in five starting fast. Outdoor over 200 metres he ran 22.24

0:36:45 > 0:36:50seconds last year and he has drawn back the stagger on Janezic outside

0:36:50 > 0:36:57him. Around the top bend. In lane four, tracking Kerley. Looking

0:36:57 > 0:37:04comfortable for the American and through the bell. A breakaway of

0:37:04 > 0:37:10three athletes in this 400 metres. The event favourite Fred Kerley of

0:37:10 > 0:37:15the USA, not putting a gap between him and his team-mates Dontavius

0:37:15 > 0:37:21Wright is the moment. Janezic in third. He puts his foot down and

0:37:21 > 0:37:29takes deeper. A burst of acceleration. Well, 45.86 seconds is

0:37:29 > 0:37:34not the world record in Glasgow here today for Fred Kerley. But, job done

0:37:34 > 0:37:44in a reasonable time, Andrew.Yes, 45.80 six. He has a curious style

0:37:44 > 0:37:51Fred Kerley but he was too good for the rest. Two races between Kerley,

0:37:51 > 0:37:55Janezic and Fred Kerley and the three British athletes were

0:37:55 > 0:38:03separated. Janezic timed it well. Forward leaning and limited on

0:38:03 > 0:38:08carriage but a powerful athlete, Fred Kerley. The strength of men's

0:38:08 > 0:38:13400 metres running in the US, he will not be at the world indoors.

0:38:13 > 0:38:18Dontavius Wright could not get back to him and Janezic was able to

0:38:18 > 0:38:24finish the stronger. A good time by Fred Kerley. A comfortable win. Look

0:38:24 > 0:38:28at the power he possesses. The second half of the race that is

0:38:28 > 0:38:32where Dontavius Wright thought he would get back. He was working Fred

0:38:32 > 0:38:38Kerley all the way but does not possess the power Fred Kerley house.

0:38:38 > 0:38:42There is always that great strength in the competition in America. You

0:38:42 > 0:38:47do not sometimes know who will be at the major championships. A good run

0:38:47 > 0:38:54from Kerley. It was, it is a win in Glasgow. Stadium record. Fred

0:38:54 > 0:38:58Kerley. The American was dominant, maybe not as quick as he liked, but

0:38:58 > 0:39:05it was a victory.

0:39:06 > 0:39:15Long jump time. Jazmin Sawyers getting ready to start the

0:39:15 > 0:39:22competition off hopefully in good shape. Maybe just over six metres

0:39:22 > 0:39:37that. They look to the crowd. Her coach

0:39:38 > 0:39:45Kelly Southerton. Class opposition in the form of Ivana Spanovic.

0:39:45 > 0:39:51Jazmin Sawyers, a wobbly start to her 2018 indoor season. A valid

0:39:51 > 0:39:58jump.

0:40:00 > 0:40:06Now we turn to Christabel Nettey. Slightly below her best, this year,

0:40:06 > 0:40:13the 26-year-old. Good on the board. That is much further in towards six

0:40:13 > 0:40:21and a half metres.

0:40:21 > 0:40:326.50 six. Fourth at the 2015 World Championships. Probably her best

0:40:32 > 0:40:37performance to shout about, the Canadian. A record-holder. It will

0:40:37 > 0:40:43take the lead.

0:40:43 > 0:40:47take the lead. 6.17, Jazmin Sawyers' jump. Christabel Nettey goes into

0:40:47 > 0:40:53first place.

0:40:53 > 0:40:58first place. Venetia Birks of the United States, also a very capable

0:40:58 > 0:41:0360 metres

0:41:04 > 0:41:0660 metres sprinter -- Quanesha Burks. 22 years of age and capable

0:41:06 > 0:41:11of taking the lead in the first round and it looks like she has done

0:41:11 > 0:41:15exactly that. She drifted off towards the left. 2015 Collegiate

0:41:15 > 0:41:25champion. Based in Alabama. Way behind the board. That bodes well

0:41:25 > 0:41:30for the rest of her competition. You can see her drifting off left which

0:41:30 > 0:41:37maybe shows a lack of balance, so a bit of tidying up for her. 6.65

0:41:37 > 0:41:42takes the lead for the American.

0:41:42 > 0:41:49STUDIO: Coming up we will see the world champion in the winner's high

0:41:49 > 0:41:56jump where Britain's Morgan Lake is in action. The women's 60 metres,

0:41:56 > 0:42:01Dina Asher-Smith against Dafne Schippers. The men's 60, CJ Ujah and

0:42:01 > 0:42:04Adam Gemili and Reece Prescod featuring. And after his fourth

0:42:04 > 0:42:09place

0:42:10 > 0:42:15place in London, can he impress in the 800 metres? The British Walker

0:42:15 > 0:42:19Tom Bosworth provided one of the most agonising images of the World

0:42:19 > 0:42:22Championships when he was disqualified for lifting his feet.

0:42:22 > 0:42:27He had hopes of a medal and was distraught when he received a third

0:42:27 > 0:42:31red card, but he has vowed to come back stronger and we will see him in

0:42:31 > 0:42:33the 3000 metres walk. Andrew.

0:42:33 > 0:42:38back stronger and we will see him in the 3000 metres walk. Andrew. There

0:42:38 > 0:42:42is no doubt of the talent and achievements of Tom Bosworth,

0:42:42 > 0:42:47bringing the sport more into the public consciousness. There was the

0:42:47 > 0:42:51high-profile disqualification at London. He is a man of achievement,

0:42:51 > 0:42:57holder of a world best over the mile. This is the line-up. Callum

0:42:57 > 0:43:04Wilkinson, they train together. At the race walking training centre in

0:43:04 > 0:43:08Leeds. Wilkinson and Bosworth part of that but Tom Bosworth should be a

0:43:08 > 0:43:17class apart here and looking for a time against so

0:43:17 > 0:43:21time against so many -- time. So many people not familiar with

0:43:21 > 0:43:25racewalking. He is a character with great celebrations in the final

0:43:25 > 0:43:31stages of his win at the indoor Championships. And there is Callum

0:43:31 > 0:43:36Wilkinson, who was disqualified in the British Championships. That is

0:43:36 > 0:43:40an occupational hazard of race walkers. About one in eight in a

0:43:40 > 0:43:45race can be expected to be disqualified. There will be three

0:43:45 > 0:43:51judges checking for a couple of things we will talk about. The

0:43:51 > 0:43:55Italian could be strong. Diego Garcia, a former under 23 champion

0:43:55 > 0:44:00in Europe.

0:44:01 > 0:44:14in Europe. Cameron call Bush lead. Tom Partington. And Christopher

0:44:14 > 0:44:24Snook. With 3000 metres, Tom Bosworth is looking for below 11

0:44:24 > 0:44:30minutes. Looking for a Commonwealth best time which he holds, 10.50

0:44:30 > 0:44:35eight. For those not familiar with racewalking, there is one rule above

0:44:35 > 0:44:42all, the one the judges will be keeping an eye on which is not

0:44:42 > 0:44:47visible loss of contact of one foot is touching the ground, the other

0:44:47 > 0:44:53one can be in the air but you cannot have loss of contact on the ground.

0:44:53 > 0:44:57Visible loss of contact is down to the naked eye done by the judges.

0:44:57 > 0:45:01The other is the advancing leg must be straightened at the moment of

0:45:01 > 0:45:06first contact with the ground until the vertical upright position, so

0:45:06 > 0:45:10effectively when it passes under the body it has to be straight. Walkers

0:45:10 > 0:45:19have a concave knee towards the end of the stride. We talk about the

0:45:19 > 0:45:24speed Tom Bosworth moves at.

0:45:24 > 0:45:30speed Tom Bosworth moves at. He can move a lot faster walking than most

0:45:30 > 0:45:37people can run. You see the pacey is shifting out at the moment.

0:45:37 > 0:45:44Absolutely. The danger is that they get pulled into that. Pulled into

0:45:44 > 0:45:47the quick pace that Tom Bosworth is setting and if their technique isn't

0:45:47 > 0:45:51quite up to it, that strength isn't there, that is where we see the card

0:45:51 > 0:45:55and that was a card out there that we saw already acting for Tom

0:45:55 > 0:45:59Bosworth. The grimace on his face, he's trying to get onto the pace. He

0:45:59 > 0:46:07went through the first lap in 44 seconds. That's about

0:46:07 > 0:46:10seconds. That's about bank on 3.40 pace. Yesterday not for the British

0:46:10 > 0:46:15record and I think he has in his sights the world best. Maybe all so

0:46:15 > 0:46:22even the world best which goes back to 2001.Another yellow card comes

0:46:22 > 0:46:29in for Marius Dugas of Lithuania. Three cards to the chief judge and

0:46:29 > 0:46:34you'll be disqualified. When you're talking 3000 metres it's a quick

0:46:34 > 0:46:42pace. They are at the limit. Another card that Arius UCAS, he is on

0:46:42 > 0:46:48borrowed time at the moment, I think. -- for Marius Dugas. Looking

0:46:48 > 0:46:57ahead to this long jump. Tianna Bartoletta of the USA. Low-key start

0:46:57 > 0:47:00to her indoor season so far and didn't seem to have any left on

0:47:00 > 0:47:08that, either. That jump of her team-mate, 6.65. Doesn't look as

0:47:08 > 0:47:12though she will threaten that. No real giveaway in her facial

0:47:12 > 0:47:21expression, at least. Bit of space on the board. Double world champion,

0:47:21 > 0:47:30Bartoletta. Olympic champion from 2016. A brilliant record but...

0:47:30 > 0:47:39Below what she's capable off here in Glasgow.

0:47:39 > 0:47:49Here's our rising talent. Khaddi Sagnia of Sweden. 23 years of age,

0:47:49 > 0:47:55improving this winter. She knows -- we know she's in great shape. She's

0:47:55 > 0:47:59jumped 6.85 already this year and it's around that kind of distance,

0:47:59 > 0:48:06looks just below seven metres. She likes it. Sagnia also a heptathlete.

0:48:06 > 0:48:15Very capable all-rounder is the 23-year-old Swedish jumper. Said she

0:48:15 > 0:48:22was improving. Look at the height,! That's a beautiful long jump.

0:48:22 > 0:48:29Waiting for this, this is going to challenge her indoor best ever. It

0:48:29 > 0:48:35does indeed. A national record the Sagnia. 6.92 metres in the first

0:48:35 > 0:48:42round. Brilliant stuff. So, then... He is someone who can respond and

0:48:42 > 0:48:48that type of distance. She's jumped one centimetre further last week in

0:48:48 > 0:48:51Belgrade. Ivana Spanovic, the European indoor champion.

0:48:51 > 0:48:57Brilliantly consistent. It looked a bit flat, but it's way out into the

0:48:57 > 0:49:03sandpit. Looked a little cagey there. She's got that left ankle

0:49:03 > 0:49:09strapped. The take-off leg. Be giving back a little bit of that

0:49:09 > 0:49:16week in jumping for that season's best last weekend. A lot of

0:49:16 > 0:49:18rotational force when you get caught a bit sideways off the board like

0:49:18 > 0:49:28that. Spanovic 27 years of age now. 6.81 and she goes into second place.

0:49:28 > 0:49:35Five jumps remaining.

0:49:35 > 0:49:44Moorfield event action as all eyes turn to the pole vault. Sally Peake,

0:49:44 > 0:49:494.3 metres. This is to stay in. Third and final attempt.

0:49:49 > 0:49:504.3 metres. This is to stay in. Third and final attempt. Another big

0:49:50 > 0:49:59Bend and it's too much today.

0:49:59 > 0:50:01Bend and it's too much today. Three fouls, unfortunately, her best this

0:50:01 > 0:50:09afternoon 4.15 metres. Her afternoon's work is over fourth

0:50:09 > 0:50:14Dunn. . Fourth place and ignore that because the best haven't even joined

0:50:14 > 0:50:20yet. We're back with the walk and Tom Bosworth is a long time in

0:50:20 > 0:50:25front. While you were away, the yellow cards have been flying. We

0:50:25 > 0:50:31don't know who and how many. I think Tom Bosworth might, Callum Wilkinson

0:50:31 > 0:50:39does. Is the board showing which athletes have -- the board shows but

0:50:39 > 0:50:43it is turned away from us. Tom Bosworth is looking for the pace of

0:50:43 > 0:50:4910.5 eight.Will get a better idea when they go through 2000 metres.

0:50:49 > 0:50:541000 metres in 3.31 which is a very quick. Almost on pace to set the

0:50:54 > 0:51:01world record which currently stands at 10.31. That was back in 2001.

0:51:01 > 0:51:04Andreas Germany. Tom is working hard, he's checking his watch

0:51:04 > 0:51:10regularly.A yellow there. We saw the judge coming in. One on the back

0:51:10 > 0:51:13straight, one on the home straight, one on the bend, as well. Another

0:51:13 > 0:51:19yellow but it's not how many he has, two War one. It's a grimace rather

0:51:19 > 0:51:28than a grin. His record, which was set years ago, that was at 5.30 one.

0:51:28 > 0:51:35He is a long way ahead, 14 seconds ahead of that pace. He's just gone

0:51:35 > 0:51:40through 2000 metres in 7.03, so slowed slightly but only by a

0:51:40 > 0:51:45second. It's close and he's already on two warnings, we think. May have

0:51:45 > 0:51:52just got his third. That panel may have said two on it. Tom Bosworth

0:51:52 > 0:51:55gain is right on the edge here. These walkers live right on the edge

0:51:55 > 0:52:00all the time. Tom Bosworth moving ground. He's going to win this

0:52:00 > 0:52:08comfortable. It's about the time. Super slow Mo. Everyone seeing that

0:52:08 > 0:52:13there is clear air. It's down to the naked eye of the judges. That's a

0:52:13 > 0:52:16loss of contact, but it's down to the naked eye of the judges as he

0:52:16 > 0:52:21moves round at that great pace there. Tom Bosworth, you see that

0:52:21 > 0:52:26this close eye and scrutiny of the judges, no, emus at that particular

0:52:26 > 0:52:30line safely and Tom Bosworth still some way to go but he's way ahead of

0:52:30 > 0:52:35record pace. One more yellow card and he will be disqualified. He's

0:52:35 > 0:52:39definitely walking a fine line now. He has the advantage of the fact

0:52:39 > 0:52:43that he's lapping the walkers in front of him. He has then to draw on

0:52:43 > 0:52:47and maybe almost hide amongst, as well, and he can use them to pull

0:52:47 > 0:52:51himself on as he can but it's not now a question of how much energy he

0:52:51 > 0:52:55has left and how fast he can go but how well he can maintain his

0:52:55 > 0:53:00technique as he starts to fatigue. You see his pace as he moves past

0:53:00 > 0:53:05Christopher Snook who is a very good race walker. You may pass! All is

0:53:05 > 0:53:11well. He may just, now that he's on two yellows, he may just drop the

0:53:11 > 0:53:17pace. The River reference -- the video referees would be the end of

0:53:17 > 0:53:21them all but he's still with us and racing towards the record at the

0:53:21 > 0:53:25moment. He's doing great things for racewalking in this country because

0:53:25 > 0:53:29suddenly these events are featured in major British beatings and it's

0:53:29 > 0:53:34because of Tom Bosworth and his efforts. He's out in front of the K

0:53:34 > 0:53:39mark and the 20-kilometre walk at the World Championships. There you

0:53:39 > 0:53:42look in real time and did so, so difficult to see. That's what the

0:53:42 > 0:53:47judges are looking for. He comes passed one more judge, past, and

0:53:47 > 0:53:53moves on. Looks to be pretty good. The pace looks really good. You can

0:53:53 > 0:53:57tell he's trying to work harder and maintain the technique. The

0:53:57 > 0:54:00collision between him and the second-place athlete is still

0:54:00 > 0:54:05growing not as quickly as it was and I think he has decided he can either

0:54:05 > 0:54:10risk it all and really go to try and beat that world best, or he can just

0:54:10 > 0:54:14aim for a British record and the best of the world so far this year

0:54:14 > 0:54:17and tried to walk a clean race now for the remaining lap, just over a

0:54:17 > 0:54:22lap.

0:54:26 > 0:54:30lap.Is so Giorgio Rubino in the distance and he can talk himself

0:54:30 > 0:54:33into the pace and it takes a tremendous toll on the body. Tom

0:54:33 > 0:54:38Bosworth facing 10.58.21, the British best. He is certainly going

0:54:38 > 0:54:44to beat that and as other athletes hear the bell, Tom Bosworth here's

0:54:44 > 0:54:47the noise of the crowd cheering him around to what will be another mark

0:54:47 > 0:54:52to add to his collection, beating his own British best. Look at the

0:54:52 > 0:54:57speed that he moves past! The world record is 10.31 and he's not far

0:54:57 > 0:55:04from that. He has it! World best time by Tom Bosworth. We thought he

0:55:04 > 0:55:13was chasing only the British best, but 3.26 the final kilometre. Three

0:55:13 > 0:55:16.26 for the final kilometre and his arms are a lot as he realises he has

0:55:16 > 0:55:23that world best time, which have been held by the German going back

0:55:23 > 0:55:27to 2001. It goes now to Tom Bosworth Mehidy Hasan it again. Another great

0:55:27 > 0:55:33achievement by this great race walker. Again, it's worth stressing

0:55:33 > 0:55:40that final kilometre in 3.26, to walk at that pace, some achievement.

0:55:40 > 0:55:44What a time, what a race by Tom Bosworth.

0:55:48 > 0:55:54That seemed very clinical and was a world record. How do you feel?Oh,

0:55:54 > 0:55:59man, I can't believe it! I thought man! With five laps to go I thought

0:55:59 > 0:56:03I wasn't going to get it. I saw a couple of cards and thought, I don't

0:56:03 > 0:56:08want London to happen again. Oh, man! I feel sick as hell! You

0:56:08 > 0:56:16clearly, out today with that. These athletes don't get is not demarche

0:56:16 > 0:56:20--. Get enough from. I'm over the moon to have set that today in front

0:56:20 > 0:56:24of this crowd, the crowd are awesome and I love performing. You've

0:56:24 > 0:56:27mentioned London already. That disqualification, how much is that

0:56:27 > 0:56:31driving you? How much are you thinking about that as you are

0:56:31 > 0:56:34competing?Absolutely every single training session and race, but I've

0:56:34 > 0:56:40learned from it. I've come on from it and just want to get better.

0:56:40 > 0:56:43People at home will be posing their TV saying the walkers have beat off

0:56:43 > 0:56:47the ground but it doesn't matter, it's all down to the human eye, the

0:56:47 > 0:56:51judges are seeing it. If you are walking, got a straight leg. All I

0:56:51 > 0:56:56wanted to do was put on a good show and I broken world record! You can

0:56:56 > 0:57:00tell from your face that it is gruelling it's very disciplined.

0:57:00 > 0:57:04Exactly. I could feel in the second kilometre that my legs were going

0:57:04 > 0:57:07and I thought, right, just bogus and push off and keep up walking

0:57:07 > 0:57:12technique to the best you possibly can. At that speed, you know... It's

0:57:12 > 0:57:15going to be really difficult and I thought, to be honest, I'd be happy

0:57:15 > 0:57:20with the British record, so to smash that... Banks to these guys, my

0:57:20 > 0:57:24family, you guys at home. It means so much.Tom, fantastic to watch.

0:57:24 > 0:57:30Best of luck for the Commonwealths. What a great thing to get him going

0:57:30 > 0:57:33out to the Gold Coast for the Commonwealth Games, to take that

0:57:33 > 0:57:37world record. A good point there about people pausing and we were

0:57:37 > 0:57:42showing you the shots as well of feet above -- of the ground. It is

0:57:42 > 0:57:49down to the judges. They do say I do if the athlete needs a yellow card.

0:57:49 > 0:57:52Tom Bosworth encapsulated their not just the physical side of it but

0:57:52 > 0:57:55it's such a mentally taxing event, isn't it? The focus of thinking, and

0:57:55 > 0:58:01my take on an Apple TV might technique? In the way you don't in

0:58:01 > 0:58:05any other event. It's holding the technique for so many laps and the

0:58:05 > 0:58:08distance that he does. It's incredibly tough, but what a great

0:58:08 > 0:58:14character he is and what a formidable athlete. To get the

0:58:14 > 0:58:18opportunity to raise into doors and show how skilful he really is is

0:58:18 > 0:58:25brilliant.-- race indoors. Well done, Tom Bosworth. A world record

0:58:25 > 0:58:30that will take some beating at the moment for the day to get that our

0:58:30 > 0:58:36first hour. Next on the track, two para events. Sophie Hahn and Olivia

0:58:36 > 0:58:41Brean are going in this and both athletes have been involved recently

0:58:41 > 0:58:46in a debate surrounding the classification of IPC events. JJ

0:58:46 > 0:58:49Chalmers reports regularly on parrots bought so is all across this

0:58:49 > 0:58:59story. -- Para sports.You think back a few years when Olivia Brean

0:58:59 > 0:59:02was the next big talent in British sprinting at the Paralympics.

0:59:02 > 0:59:06Shortly after that, Sophie Hahn came on the scene and she's to be

0:59:06 > 0:59:11five-time world champion. Olivia Breen has found her place in the

0:59:11 > 0:59:15last year but this has hit the papers and been quite controversial

0:59:15 > 0:59:18because Olivia Breen's father Michael alleged to a parliamentary

0:59:18 > 0:59:23committee that he had been told that Sophie Hahn was in the wrong

0:59:23 > 0:59:26category and was benefiting from that classification error. Having

0:59:26 > 0:59:31said that, both of these athletes are really... They've been put in a

0:59:31 > 0:59:34classification by the IPC, they'll turn up and run their race

0:59:34 > 0:59:39regardless.Is a classification going to be a continuing issue,

0:59:39 > 0:59:46though, in Para sport going forwards quiz yellow it's contentious.When I

0:59:46 > 0:59:49spoke to the potential future presidents last year that would take

0:59:49 > 0:59:53over from Sir Philip Craven, a job that went to Andrew Parsons, and

0:59:53 > 0:59:56ultimately, every single one of them said it was one of the top issues.

0:59:56 > 1:00:01Allah classification is broken down but hows how athletes are placed

1:00:01 > 1:00:04within those categories. Having said that, there will always be the issue

1:00:04 > 1:00:09which is some nations will look for athletes who sit on the fringes of

1:00:09 > 1:00:13their classification to gain an edge against the nations because that's

1:00:13 > 1:00:17not illegal, it's simply a great area and an area where they can get

1:00:17 > 1:00:21competitive advantage. Some might say it goes against the spirit of

1:00:21 > 1:00:26those events. You feel this is an issue that's not going to be put to

1:00:26 > 1:00:31bed quickly. Those races coming up very soon. The field goes on.

1:00:31 > 1:00:36people can run. You see the pacey is shifting out at the moment.

1:00:36 > 1:00:44This is Molly Caudery as the pole vault progresses.

1:00:45 > 1:00:48vault progresses. What can she do on her third attempt? It is good. Great

1:00:48 > 1:00:53stuff.

1:00:53 > 1:01:00stuff. For the 17-year-old. That is a new indoor best. That is very

1:01:00 > 1:01:03impressive off the back of her British Championships victory last

1:01:03 > 1:01:12weekend. As we turn our

1:01:18 > 1:01:25attention to the athlete placed tenth in Rio. Another long effort.

1:01:25 > 1:01:32We have seen Tatiana Bata letter off the

1:01:35 > 1:01:42the pace but really good quality. Athletes trying to find former head

1:01:42 > 1:01:52of the world indoor Championships.

1:01:52 > 1:01:58of the world indoor Championships. A contender for a medal for sure. She

1:01:58 > 1:02:02waits for her second attempt. A big season's best. Goes into second

1:02:02 > 1:02:07place.

1:02:12 > 1:02:23Behind Sagnia. And now the women's 60 metres T 37-38, for athletes with

1:02:23 > 1:02:32coordination impairment, cerebral palsy or similar.

1:02:36 > 1:02:42In lane number one. 29-year-old Ali Smith, coached by Paul McGregor. A

1:02:42 > 1:02:55wonderful opportunity for para-athletes. Bethany Tucker. 9.25

1:02:55 > 1:03:02seconds indoors three seasons ago. And a big cheer for this athlete.

1:03:02 > 1:03:08Dunbar's Maria

1:03:08 > 1:03:13Dunbar's Maria Lyle, starting in lane three. 18 on Valentine's Day.

1:03:13 > 1:03:16And the ever smiling Olivia Breen, the world champion last year in the

1:03:16 > 1:03:27long jump. And here is the focus of Sophie Hahn in lane five. The

1:03:27 > 1:03:31Paralympic champion and double world champion and record holder outdoors.

1:03:31 > 1:03:41The familiar face of Katrina Hart. She runs in the T37 classification.

1:03:41 > 1:03:45And in lane number seven from Middlesbrough, Amy Carr. 18 years

1:03:45 > 1:03:54old. 9.35 seconds a few seasons ago. And completing the line-up, Abbie

1:03:54 > 1:04:02McNally from Inverness. Just 16 years old. Two world champions in

1:04:02 > 1:04:08this race. Olivia Breen on your right. The long jump world champion.

1:04:08 > 1:04:16Sophie Hahn, 100 metres and 200 metres world champion.

1:04:21 > 1:04:28The ever evolving row in terms of classifications in Paralympic sport

1:04:28 > 1:04:37will continue, but this is what it is all about.

1:04:42 > 1:04:55A clean start from Sophie Hahn. 7.94 seconds! The magical eight second

1:04:55 > 1:05:05barrier for Sophie Hahn has been smashed in Glasgow today.

1:05:05 > 1:05:09smashed in Glasgow today. She could not stand until she was two years

1:05:09 > 1:05:13old and it took until after her third birthday to be able to walk

1:05:13 > 1:05:16and talk. A wonderful run by Sophie Hahn. She's going to the

1:05:16 > 1:05:22Commonwealth Games to make her debut. But it was a fast start.

1:05:22 > 1:05:26Sophie Hahn, eyes down, good technique. The right side of her

1:05:26 > 1:05:33body is weaker. She struggles with coordination. Sometimes she cannot

1:05:33 > 1:05:36tie her shoelaces, she said. Olivia Breen had a good run in second

1:05:36 > 1:05:46place. 8.40 for Olivia Breen. One 100th of a second outside her

1:05:46 > 1:05:51lifetime best performance. Hahn and Olivia Breen off to the Commonwealth

1:05:51 > 1:05:59Games. It will be a 100 metres event down under. Kadeena Cox entered for

1:05:59 > 1:06:04England, as well. And Katrina Hart. Yes, she enjoyed it!

1:06:04 > 1:06:07England, as well. And Katrina Hart. Yes, she enjoyed it!That was a

1:06:07 > 1:06:10beautiful performance, you broke the eight second barrier.I am

1:06:10 > 1:06:20delighted. I had some training this week. That is what I run in training

1:06:20 > 1:06:24and to do it on the track is brilliant. We are used to seeing you

1:06:24 > 1:06:29in the outdoor over 100 metres.How do you find 60 metres? I do not mind

1:06:29 > 1:06:3560 metres. If I get a good start it is great, but if it is an OK start,

1:06:35 > 1:06:40it is harder.How you feeling against the Commonwealth Games?I am

1:06:40 > 1:06:44so excited. I will train hard and get ready for the Commonwealth

1:06:44 > 1:06:53Games.Fantastic, excellent to watch it. Congratulations.

1:06:57 > 1:07:00There is confirmation. A lifetime best national record for Sophie

1:07:00 > 1:07:08Hahn. Off to the Commonwealth Games. Olivia Breen picking up second and a

1:07:08 > 1:07:14host of personal best s over the distance. It is the focus and drive.

1:07:14 > 1:07:23A familiar shot of Sophie Hahn. What a great opportunity for our T 37-38

1:07:23 > 1:07:27athletes to take part in this meeting. She looks at the clock. She

1:07:27 > 1:07:30said she had done it in training and needed to do it in competition. That

1:07:30 > 1:07:37is a good run.

1:07:38 > 1:07:44COMMENTATOR: Back to the long jump competition. Jazmin Sawyers followed

1:07:44 > 1:07:53up her first-round jump with two fouls. We are now in round three.

1:07:53 > 1:07:59Quanesha Burks almost missed the pit. An optical illusion. Putting in

1:07:59 > 1:08:06a good series. Let's look at this. It will be beyond it. It looks as

1:08:06 > 1:08:11though she has improved. Still has space on the board and still going

1:08:11 > 1:08:16sideways. The hand was out of the pit, but it is a valid jump. I am

1:08:16 > 1:08:22not sure why it stands with that hand. If it was behind, it would be

1:08:22 > 1:08:30contentious. Improvement and season's best. 6.70 two. Tianna

1:08:30 > 1:08:37Bartoletta. Really at of sorts is the only way to explain what she has

1:08:37 > 1:08:43done so far. 6.52 is her season's best. Over half a metre down on what

1:08:43 > 1:08:50she is capable of. 32, oldest in the field. And feeling it at the moment.

1:08:50 > 1:08:55The youngsters snapping at her heels, and quick on the approach as

1:08:55 > 1:09:01ever. She is a brilliant sprinter. Twice Olympic champion in the relay

1:09:01 > 1:09:05and in the long jump. Double world champion. She has done everything.

1:09:05 > 1:09:15But not going her way in Glasgow. 6.52 remains her best because the

1:09:15 > 1:09:276.39 in round three. COMMENTATOR: Next on the track,

1:09:27 > 1:09:34British athletics are running this event. The women's T 43-4460 metres.

1:09:34 > 1:09:40The familiar names with Sophie Kamlish in four. Blade Runner is now

1:09:40 > 1:09:53have their own classification. T 61-64. For athletes, amputees,

1:09:53 > 1:10:00movements with similar patterns. Fleur Jong starting in lane number

1:10:00 > 1:10:08three. Sophie Kamlish, her flower in her hair. The world record holder.

1:10:08 > 1:10:16World champion over 100 metres. 8.35 seconds this season. Outside Sophie

1:10:16 > 1:10:21Kamlish, Irmgard Bensusan, the T44 athlete. Triple Paralympic silvers

1:10:21 > 1:10:29is what she won in Rio. And Laura Sugar.

1:10:35 > 1:10:49Below the knee condition. Iris Pruysen had her leg amputated

1:10:49 > 1:10:56following a gas explosion. A Marlene van Gansewinkel, the 22-year-old

1:10:56 > 1:10:59with a Paralympic bronze medal at Rio in the long jump. So, 60 metres.

1:10:59 > 1:11:04So

1:11:04 > 1:11:11So me -- Sophie Kamlish in lane four.

1:11:11 > 1:11:17A wonderful world para championships by Sophie Kamlish in London. The

1:11:17 > 1:11:24gold medal in the final.

1:11:34 > 1:11:44It was a good start by Laura Sugar. The tall German in the centre lane.

1:11:44 > 1:11:50The triple Paralympic silver-medallist in Rio. Well, we

1:11:50 > 1:11:57have those season's best or lifetime best over the 60 metres distance for

1:11:57 > 1:12:05Irmgard Bensusan. A lifetime best has been recorded. 8.24 seconds for

1:12:05 > 1:12:12Irmgard Bensusan. But Sophie Kamlish, 8.47 seconds. A lifetime

1:12:12 > 1:12:17best. A wonderful start by Laura Sugar in lane six. But the German

1:12:17 > 1:12:25with the long stride pulled away. Sophie Kamlish on the right of your

1:12:25 > 1:12:34shot. Sophie Kamlish not as clean away.

1:12:34 > 1:12:41away. Irmgard Bensusan, tall, powerful, in between the two British

1:12:41 > 1:12:47athletes. She is rewarded with a personal best of 8.24 seconds. The

1:12:47 > 1:12:55German T44 athlete. Victory in Glasgow. Sophie Kamlish picking up

1:12:55 > 1:13:03second. We can confirm that result. Personal best for Irmgard Bensusan.

1:13:03 > 1:13:07National record for Sophie Kamlish. A good run by the British athlete

1:13:07 > 1:13:07but

1:13:07 > 1:13:11A good run by the British athlete but Germany take the spoils.A

1:13:11 > 1:13:15national record but you are disappointed? I did not get the best

1:13:15 > 1:13:20start. I am usually faster out of the blocks. I was a bit out of it,

1:13:20 > 1:13:25but I am all right.Running on a prospective, the start and getting

1:13:25 > 1:13:31up to speed is crucial. And in the 100 you have longer to make up for

1:13:31 > 1:13:34mistakes. If you get a bad start in the hundred, it is over, the same

1:13:34 > 1:13:41with the 60. Not super pleased, but if it is a personal best, I cannot

1:13:41 > 1:13:45complain.World champion last year, how has your confidence built? It

1:13:45 > 1:13:53has gone well. In the build-up to 2017 it was off the back of not

1:13:53 > 1:13:59doing what I could have done in 2016 in terms of medals. Going back to

1:13:59 > 1:14:04university in second year, training every day and being at university

1:14:04 > 1:14:09every day, I am motivated. I want to feel what it is like to be champion

1:14:09 > 1:14:14again, specifically in Tokyo. We want to watch you being a champion.

1:14:14 > 1:14:18Congratulations. National record. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

1:14:18 > 1:14:19Thank you.

1:14:27 > 1:14:37The pole vault competition started over an hour ago. Katerina

1:14:37 > 1:14:40Stefanidi, the world Olympic champion has not come in yet. This

1:14:40 > 1:14:48is a second attempt. Got it right that time. She is pleased with that.

1:14:48 > 1:14:58The first athlete to go clear at the new height. It took two jumps.

1:14:58 > 1:15:00new height. It took two jumps. She was record holder until Katerina

1:15:00 > 1:15:04Stefanidi took grips of this event. But Katerina Stefanidi has not

1:15:04 > 1:15:13started yet. It was a good clearance. 4.40 five. She has jumped

1:15:13 > 1:15:194.61 this year and you can see why. 4.81 was her best from two years

1:15:19 > 1:15:24ago.

1:15:24 > 1:15:32So, then, a lifetime best already this afternoon for Molly Caudery.

1:15:34 > 1:15:37She can throw caution to the wind and really attack this. This will be

1:15:37 > 1:15:44a bonus, should she be able to propel herself over this new height.

1:15:44 > 1:15:53Attacks it really well, but not today. A smile from her and a solid

1:15:53 > 1:15:58afternoon of work for the youngster. I said earlier the youngest athlete

1:15:58 > 1:16:03on the English team and experiences like this will put her in good

1:16:03 > 1:16:05stead, jumping in the spotlight is different and she has done it again

1:16:05 > 1:16:15very, very well. A lifetime best 4.3 to add to her British title last

1:16:15 > 1:16:21weekend and winter's work is exceptionally well indeed. -- going

1:16:21 > 1:16:32exceptionally well. Rights, then. Looking to get things back on track

1:16:32 > 1:16:36here. She's in sixth place as we head into the next round. That's

1:16:36 > 1:16:41looking a little better. I think she knows it's better than the 6.52 she

1:16:41 > 1:16:47jumped in round two. But such is the strength and depth in this

1:16:47 > 1:16:59competition here today. Still got Sagnia out in front. Lots of

1:16:59 > 1:17:05athletes closing in on seven metres. Jazmin Sawyers has had to pack her

1:17:05 > 1:17:09bags. She was unable to get into the top eight. She takes no further

1:17:09 > 1:17:14part. Bartoletta, no improvement on her blazing, but a 6.61 season's

1:17:14 > 1:17:22best. Christabel Nettey, 6.62 in the previous round will stop looks as

1:17:22 > 1:17:28though she's faster on the approach here. Similar kind of distance for

1:17:28 > 1:17:41Nettey. Thoughts go to Lorraine Rubensson, pulled her handsprings

1:17:41 > 1:17:46hamstring. She hopes to make it back before the Commonwealth Games.

1:17:46 > 1:17:49Lorraine, if you're watching, I know you could take care of this. Take

1:17:49 > 1:17:55care of your hamstring for now. Nettey, no improvement there. 6.6

1:17:55 > 1:17:58zero.

1:18:02 > 1:18:09This is the final day of the world indoor. Conclusions to come. No

1:18:09 > 1:18:18improvement for Nettey. STUDIO: Coming up, it is the women's

1:18:18 > 1:18:2260 metres hurdles final. The first two events on the track with us two

1:18:22 > 1:18:30heats where we saw the out and out favourites have a stumble out of the

1:18:30 > 1:18:34blocks and she has to put that to one side and get her start right

1:18:34 > 1:18:38here because it is a strong field. This is where the mental game really

1:18:38 > 1:18:42kicks in. It hasn't been that wrong two long since been heats. You can't

1:18:42 > 1:18:47overthink it. You can't over analyse because you know she can start, it

1:18:47 > 1:18:52you know she has that capability and she is the fastest in the world. She

1:18:52 > 1:18:56has just got to put that to bed now and get out as she has done all

1:18:56 > 1:19:05season.That in just a moment. Inside, just to our right here is an

1:19:05 > 1:19:10inside arena and in about an hour or so Greg Rutherford will be out there

1:19:10 > 1:19:14in the mens the

1:19:17 > 1:19:20we didn't see much of great last year and he hopes he can get himself

1:19:20 > 1:19:25back in shape this season. Sharika Nelvis there, who stumbled in her

1:19:25 > 1:19:31heat, hoping to rectify her start COMMENTATOR: She has firmly fixed

1:19:31 > 1:19:38her starting blocks. She is buying for the overall IAAF title. The

1:19:38 > 1:19:42standings going into this race, Sharika Nelvis on 27 points.

1:19:42 > 1:19:52Christina Manning on 24. They will be at the world indoor

1:19:52 > 1:19:57Championships. Sharika Nelvis is going as US champion and Harrison

1:19:57 > 1:20:02was second at those championships. Christina

1:20:02 > 1:20:04was second at those championships. Christina Manning will go in as

1:20:04 > 1:20:10runner-up or as winner. There is the line-up for this final. American

1:20:10 > 1:20:15dominated. And an American running for Nigeria on the inside. Isabelle

1:20:15 > 1:20:18Pederson and Nadine Visser will certainly look to upset the

1:20:18 > 1:20:20Americans.

1:20:24 > 1:20:30Lindsay Lindley now running for Nigeria. Gained a Nigerian passport

1:20:30 > 1:20:34and the right to run through her uncle who married someone from

1:20:34 > 1:20:38Nigeria. Evonne Britton is down to run in the 60 flats as well but came

1:20:38 > 1:20:44through the heats here. She's running in the final. Christina

1:20:44 > 1:20:50Manning of the United States. Fifth at the World Championships last year

1:20:50 > 1:20:55in London and bird that the US Championships, so hoping still for a

1:20:55 > 1:20:59selection for Birmingham next weekend. Sharika Nelvis recovered

1:20:59 > 1:21:09well from the awful start. Isabelle Pederson of Norway profited, won

1:21:09 > 1:21:15that heat with the misfortune of Sharika Nelvis. Alongside her,

1:21:15 > 1:21:21Nadine Visser. She's found that hurdling is perhaps her forte.

1:21:21 > 1:21:30European under 23 champion in the 100-metre hurdles. Brigitte only

1:21:31 > 1:21:38fossils -- Bridgette Owens-Mitchell, 7.94 this season. Jade Barber also

1:21:38 > 1:21:46beat USA, the 24-year-old on the outside. One of only three athletes

1:21:46 > 1:21:50who have not gone under eight seconds this season. Eight seconds

1:21:50 > 1:21:57and 60 hurdles for women is really the benchmark.

1:22:16 > 1:22:21Staring down the track at the Barry is ahead of the final of the women's

1:22:21 > 1:22:3060 metres hurdles. -- at the barriers.

1:22:40 > 1:22:49A comfortable, clean and very quick win. 7.77 Christina Manning. She'll

1:22:49 > 1:22:55take victory in the IAAF indoor tour and she'll be heading to the world

1:22:55 > 1:22:58indoor Championships. She will get $20,000 for her troubles for winning

1:22:58 > 1:23:03that overall title.

1:23:03 > 1:23:06that overall title. Very, very quick time and a very good run.Very

1:23:06 > 1:23:13strong run. There's a lot on the cards from selling Christina

1:23:13 > 1:23:18Manning. She knew she had to win to be guaranteed the spot at the world

1:23:18 > 1:23:21indoor Championships. Really exploding out of the blocks. Saying

1:23:21 > 1:23:25if you want to take this from me you have to work much harder than bat.

1:23:25 > 1:23:31She took the lead early, worked hard all the way through and a very fast

1:23:31 > 1:23:34time.It may just come down to the fact that she wanted and needed the

1:23:34 > 1:23:40win more. You're spot on. Desperately. If you run 7.73 and the

1:23:40 > 1:23:46US Championships and finish third, it's really a sign! It's incredible

1:23:46 > 1:23:52sign. It's incredibly fast. We'll see the fastest three women in the

1:23:52 > 1:23:55world at those indoor champ issues. They're all-American and I couldn't

1:23:55 > 1:23:59call who's going to take the title. It gives them a greater chance of

1:23:59 > 1:24:07one, two, but of course Sally Pearson who will be competing for

1:24:07 > 1:24:11Australia there, too. That promises to be a great event at the world

1:24:11 > 1:24:16indoor championship but Christina Manning taking the victory at 7.79

1:24:16 > 1:24:18ahead of Sharika Nelvis.

1:24:25 > 1:24:26Christina Manning with

1:24:26 > 1:24:27Christina Manning with the victory and is heading

1:24:27 > 1:24:27Christina Manning with the victory and is heading to Birmingham next

1:24:27 > 1:24:37weekend.You seriously needed that went to book your place. And feeling

1:24:37 > 1:24:41good, blessed. I came here to win.

1:24:41 > 1:24:43went to book your place. And feeling good, blessed. I came here to win.

1:24:43 > 1:24:46You'll be going to Birmingham now. What do you need to do between now

1:24:46 > 1:24:51and then to prepare yourself? Everything from year to then is

1:24:51 > 1:24:57mental. The work is in. There's no change or nothing! How much of the

1:24:57 > 1:25:00benefit is it to be able to come over to the UK, get the competition

1:25:00 > 1:25:03in and really acclimatised to the conditions here? It's really good,

1:25:03 > 1:25:09you know, because got here Friday, I woke up tired this morning, I was

1:25:09 > 1:25:14tired yesterday. Came to the track yawning. It's good. Can you win the

1:25:14 > 1:25:21World Indoors?Of course. Yes, I can. I can.I love your confidence.

1:25:21 > 1:25:32Look forward to seeing you next week.Thank you so much. Thank you.

1:25:32 > 1:25:37Third attempt for Morgan Lulu of the United States. She made the flight

1:25:37 > 1:25:40across from the US and her polls didn't make it. She's borrowing

1:25:40 > 1:25:43across from the US and her polls didn't make it. She's borrowing

1:25:43 > 1:25:46polls. Always adds a bit of doubt but on the third time of asking, 4.4

1:25:46 > 1:25:57five. Gets it! Better. She's thrilled.

1:25:57 > 1:26:00As she should be because we've only seen a couple of athletes go clear

1:26:00 > 1:26:05at this height. I need to remind you that the world Olympic champion

1:26:05 > 1:26:13editor really Stefanie Fee hasn't joined the competition yet.

1:26:14 > 1:26:20joined the competition yet. Back to the long jump.

1:26:20 > 1:26:26the long jump. Moguenara is in second place chasing the lead of

1:26:26 > 1:26:33Sagnia. The body language tells you everything you need to know there.

1:26:33 > 1:26:39Looking down just to check the foot positions. It's another decent

1:26:39 > 1:26:45effort, though. Jumping really nicely here in Glasgow this

1:26:45 > 1:26:54afternoon.

1:26:56 > 1:27:03It's 6.55 four Moguenara. No improvement.

1:27:03 > 1:27:05improvement. This is Khaddi Sagnia. Jump the national record in the

1:27:05 > 1:27:15first round of 6.9 two. Still in the lead.

1:27:15 > 1:27:21Has she hurt herself? I really hope not. I think she looks OK. Just

1:27:21 > 1:27:25missed time to that. I think she's already let forward to the World

1:27:25 > 1:27:31Indoors next week. Damage limitation is. Knee strap removed. Just looking

1:27:31 > 1:27:37after herself. Take no risks. She's in the lead. One or two athletes

1:27:37 > 1:27:46with jumps remaining good challenge. STUDIO: So, let's stretch out with

1:27:46 > 1:27:51this is once again. It's time for the men's 1500 metres. 7.5 laps on

1:27:51 > 1:27:58an indoor track. 13 athletes in total. Should be a very competitive

1:27:58 > 1:28:04race, this.

1:28:08 > 1:28:1413 athletes in total will line-up. Dale King-Clutterbuck will be the

1:28:14 > 1:28:21pacemaker for Great Britain and Northern Ireland on the outside.

1:28:23 > 1:28:30There he is on the outside, you'll be setting the race. Bethwel Birgen,

1:28:30 > 1:28:37world indoor finalist in 2013. Vincent Kibet, his team-mate, next

1:28:37 > 1:28:42to him, the world indoor finalist in Portland two seasons ago. 3:36.86

1:28:42 > 1:28:50indoors in this world indoor championship year. There is Ryan

1:28:50 > 1:28:55Gregson. Four times now the Australian 1500 metre champion.

1:28:55 > 1:29:02Always battles with injuries. Back in decent form. We saw the best of

1:29:02 > 1:29:08Garrett Heath from the USA. There's Tom Marshall from Cardiff. 28 years

1:29:08 > 1:29:16old now, 3.42 at his best.

1:29:16 > 1:29:19old now, 3.42 at his best. That was done last season in 2017. Keep an

1:29:19 > 1:29:25eye on JK Wood, as well, the Welsh athlete in superb form. Drew Piazza

1:29:25 > 1:29:30starts for the USA on the inside line. The men's 1500 metres, as I

1:29:30 > 1:29:36mentioned, 7.5 laps of the Emirates Arena. A packed field here in

1:29:36 > 1:29:42Glasgow. It's a packed field, Paula Radcliffe, and a very competitive

1:29:42 > 1:29:47one, as well.It is. Safely away, which is a good thing when there's

1:29:47 > 1:29:5313 athletes in the field.

1:29:56 > 1:30:02It should be a safer run for everybody.

1:30:03 > 1:30:06everybody. A little bit further back in the yellow, you can see Garrett

1:30:06 > 1:30:14Heath. Usually down the road in Edinburgh running cross-country, but

1:30:14 > 1:30:22a very good runner. He will be quite happy it is gone out fast.

1:30:22 > 1:30:27King-Clutterbuck doing his job, six laps to go in this 1500 metres. It

1:30:27 > 1:30:35is Birgen on his shoulder. As I mentioned, 3:30.37, that was five

1:30:35 > 1:30:41seasons ago now. Gregson is in the mix. So is Kibet. A breakaway of

1:30:41 > 1:30:49these five lap leads led by Dale King-Clutterbuck.It is a clean

1:30:49 > 1:30:54break away. The chasing pack being led by Lopez, very dangerous in a

1:30:54 > 1:30:58slow race but this isn't a slow race. Holusa also not looking very

1:30:58 > 1:31:06good so far.

1:31:06 > 1:31:10good so far.3.33 .76 in the marathon recently. 25.6 seconds as

1:31:10 > 1:31:17the lap time. King-Clutterbuck doing his job. Birgen looking very

1:31:17 > 1:31:24comfortable.Dale King-Clutterbuck needs to move aside a little bit,

1:31:24 > 1:31:30they are getting anxious behind him, biting at his heels. Clutter but

1:31:30 > 1:31:36moves aside and now the real race will start. The chasing pack

1:31:36 > 1:31:42starting to close ground.Birgen leading the way. He has done a

1:31:42 > 1:31:50couple of the world tours, all indoor ones have been in February. A

1:31:50 > 1:31:56busy programme indeed. Birgen seconding Dusseldorf over the

1:31:56 > 1:32:033,000-metre distance. Dropping down today in the 1500 metres.Ryan

1:32:03 > 1:32:06Gregson looking good start in second place. He looked really strong

1:32:06 > 1:32:10earlier in the week to run well and is mixing it here with Birgen and

1:32:10 > 1:32:18Kibet. The Belgian athlete as well, running very well so far. Making big

1:32:18 > 1:32:23inroads on his personal best.So, two laps to go in a men's 1500

1:32:23 > 1:32:26metres. Keeping an eye on Jake Heyward, the young athlete from

1:32:26 > 1:32:32Cardiff, he is in superb form having broken the junior record over 3000

1:32:32 > 1:32:38metres this winter. Could take the indoor junior best over this

1:32:38 > 1:32:44distance. We will keep an eye on him. But Birgen sitting it in the

1:32:44 > 1:32:48front, behind Clutterbuck and now the pace increases in this men's

1:32:48 > 1:32:541500 metres.Bethwel Birgen tries to load it from the front, Gregson

1:32:54 > 1:33:00trying to move a little wide. Has he saved something?Kibet looking good.

1:33:00 > 1:33:04A 3-way battle down the back straight in Glasgow here. It is

1:33:04 > 1:33:08Kenya leading the way. Ryan Gregson, the Australian Olympic finalist, has

1:33:08 > 1:33:17he got anything left to charge Birgen? He is going to take the

1:33:17 > 1:33:24victory in Glasgow and, 3:37.75 seconds. Well, he was in total

1:33:24 > 1:33:29control in that men's 1500 metres. Put under a little pressure from

1:33:29 > 1:33:34rags and Kibet in the end but that well Birgen officially clocks a

1:33:34 > 1:33:40season best of 3:37.76 seconds. Looking very good and very dominant

1:33:40 > 1:33:44in doing that. He led it from the front, did a lot of the work, making

1:33:44 > 1:33:49sure the pace was maintained after Clutterbuck stepped aside and was

1:33:49 > 1:33:53able to hold off a very late challenge from Vincent Kibet, who

1:33:53 > 1:33:56probably left it a little too late and try to come on the inside where

1:33:56 > 1:34:01there was not space to do that. So, Birgen takes the victory. No major

1:34:01 > 1:34:07British representation here. The British champion last week will be

1:34:07 > 1:34:14going to the British Championships. Look at that, the wide eyed look

1:34:14 > 1:34:23from Birgen. Gregson grits his teeth, but it was the Kenyan's date.

1:34:23 > 1:34:30Jake Heyward, incidentally, finished with a personal best. STUDIO: Next

1:34:30 > 1:34:35up we have the heat of the women's 60 metres. It is loaded, featuring

1:34:35 > 1:34:44three of the top four from the World Championships. Dafne Schippers, Dina

1:34:44 > 1:34:51Asher-Smith in the mix. COMMENTATOR: The final of the women's 200 metres.

1:34:51 > 1:34:56She will start to power, Dina Asher-Smith went very quickly

1:34:56 > 1:35:04indeed. Now here comes Dafne Schippers. It is Dina Asher-Smith at

1:35:04 > 1:35:09the moment, can she hold on? The American trying to come through.

1:35:09 > 1:35:19Dina Asher-Smith going for bronze. It is Schippers ahead! Dina

1:35:19 > 1:35:24Asher-Smith fourth at the World Championships, and it is 22.07 for

1:35:24 > 1:35:31Dafne Schippers, the champion defend her title. She is champion again.

1:35:31 > 1:35:37STUDIO: And of course, it was one of those races of many races in London,

1:35:37 > 1:35:41we saw that young talent getting so close, so close to medals.

1:35:41 > 1:35:42we saw that young talent getting so close, so close to medals. Dina

1:35:42 > 1:35:45Asher-Smith had had the most terrible season in terms of the

1:35:45 > 1:35:50injury, the timing of injury, which happened about a year ago the

1:35:50 > 1:35:53burning indoor championship and that saw her miss huge points for the

1:35:53 > 1:35:57season. She was coming late into London in many ways we felt if it

1:35:57 > 1:36:00was two weeks later even, she would have been pushing herself right into

1:36:00 > 1:36:05those medals. It was in many ways a breakthrough championship for her.I

1:36:05 > 1:36:08think it was breakthrough for so many reasons. I think a lot of

1:36:08 > 1:36:12people thought she wouldn't even make it back for this championship

1:36:12 > 1:36:14but the majority and the relationship between her, the coach,

1:36:14 > 1:36:20the medical team, that really crafted that journey right to the

1:36:20 > 1:36:24Championships and boy did she compete very well. Converting the

1:36:24 > 1:36:28fifth place she had in the past fourth, so she's going in the right

1:36:28 > 1:36:32direction. That wonderful medal she got with the relay team as well.A

1:36:32 > 1:36:36good year in the end. British athletes having to make strategic

1:36:36 > 1:36:40choices this is, do they go all out, do the indoor season, the worlds

1:36:40 > 1:36:43next week in the Commonwealth Games sacrifice one of those questioned

1:36:43 > 1:36:47what she is one going out early to Australia next week, because she

1:36:47 > 1:36:52will miss the world indoors and focus on the Commonwealth Games.

1:36:52 > 1:36:57This is her last meet indoors. It is important, such an important

1:36:57 > 1:37:02stepping stone for young athletes, but in her case, an experienced

1:37:02 > 1:37:06championship athlete but she wants those medals.Elaine Thompson just

1:37:06 > 1:37:10there on her left hand side, who of course, double Olympic champion bust

1:37:41 > 1:37:41of the strongest events here, so let's fill you in with the runners

1:37:41 > 1:37:46and riders in this first heat. Evonne Britton does not start, as we

1:37:46 > 1:37:50suspected. She just ran in the final of the hurdles and finished eighth.

1:37:50 > 1:38:00They do line-up as follows:

1:38:04 > 1:38:11there is Fabunmi-Alade. She ran in Lea Valley last month, a new

1:38:11 > 1:38:18personal best for her. The 23-year-old who is making great

1:38:18 > 1:38:21strides. Jamile Samuel, you think of Dutch sprinters, indoors as well,

1:38:21 > 1:38:30you think back to the 80s. Jamile Samuel a great starter as well. In

1:38:30 > 1:38:34the relay squad also. Elaine Thompson, the Olympic champion in

1:38:34 > 1:38:38Rio in 100 metres and 200 metres, disappointing World Championship.

1:38:38 > 1:38:45She was ill and finished fifth in the 100 metres. And Dina Asher-Smith

1:38:45 > 1:38:51will smile and will get the noise of this Glasgow crowd.Dina

1:38:51 > 1:38:56Asher-Smith!APPLAUSE What a year last year, the injury

1:38:56 > 1:38:59around about this time before the Birmingham meeting and then a race

1:38:59 > 1:39:04against time to be fit and then finishing fourth in the 200 metres.

1:39:04 > 1:39:10Rosangela Santos of Brazil, the South American record-holder. She

1:39:10 > 1:39:16won in the north of France recently. Calvert-Powell of Jamaica. Unlike

1:39:16 > 1:39:20many of the Jamaican athletes, she has run a pretty full indoor season,

1:39:20 > 1:39:24first in North America and then across to Europe. And Raven Clay of

1:39:24 > 1:39:30the United States.

1:39:30 > 1:39:34the United States. In the zone.

1:39:35 > 1:39:40So we have lost one from this heat with Evonne Britton not running. It

1:39:40 > 1:39:45is Fabunmi-Alade, the Swansea Harrier in two, Samuel on three,

1:39:45 > 1:39:48Elaine Thompson in four, Dina Asher-Smith alongside her and Santos

1:39:48 > 1:39:55of Brazil, Calvert-Powell of Jamaica and Raven Clay. Two hits, three to

1:39:55 > 1:40:01go through automatically. Elaine Thompson running 6.98 this time last

1:40:01 > 1:40:07year, how fast can she go here?

1:40:07 > 1:40:13Set... A little twitch at the blocks for

1:40:13 > 1:40:17Asher-Smith, she went very quickly. Elaine Thompson left at the moment.

1:40:17 > 1:40:23Asher-Smith going to the line, 7.07. Impressive. Elaine Thompson was

1:40:23 > 1:40:26dog-eared towards the end but that is a very, very strong for Dina

1:40:26 > 1:40:29Asher-Smith. Again, you wonder what sort of form people are in at this

1:40:29 > 1:40:33time of the season. We talked about her going to be Commonwealth Games

1:40:33 > 1:40:38are not the world indoors that 7.07, and you just tucks in behind only

1:40:38 > 1:40:43Asha Philip has run faster indoors in UK terms. Just 100th of a second

1:40:43 > 1:40:48behind. That is a very, very quick time.A great time in the heat, as

1:40:48 > 1:40:55you said. 7.08 it's then rounded up to, equal to her best performance.

1:40:55 > 1:40:59No messing about, a very professional job. Worked hard at the

1:40:59 > 1:41:03blocks, kept my try head, brilliant to see that. Let's hear what she has

1:41:03 > 1:41:07to say.

1:41:07 > 1:41:11You are happy and you should be, it was impressive?Thank you, I'm

1:41:11 > 1:41:14happy. I felt good coming to this competition. I knew I wanted to put

1:41:14 > 1:41:18together a good performance in front of the home crowd. Scottish crowd,

1:41:18 > 1:41:21but still home crowd and I'm happy to have done that. I've alike have

1:41:21 > 1:41:24got a little bit more in different bits to kind of give, but I am

1:41:24 > 1:41:29looking forward to the second round. What did you think of that heat?It

1:41:29 > 1:41:34was very loaded? So many talented athletes. Was just concentrating on

1:41:34 > 1:41:39my own late race and lane and do what I have been doing in training,

1:41:39 > 1:41:43and happy.Adil Rana hold you too much because of a final but what

1:41:43 > 1:41:48between now and the final?Have a snack, chat with my physios and

1:41:48 > 1:41:52friends and relax and then focus and ready to hopefully go a little

1:41:52 > 1:41:56quicker in the final.A little quicker, we can't wait to see that!

1:41:56 > 1:42:04Thank you.Snack time. Dina Asher-Smith, 7.08 it has been

1:42:04 > 1:42:05rounded up to. A long

1:42:05 > 1:42:07Asher-Smith, 7.08 it has been rounded up to. A long way clear of

1:42:07 > 1:42:10Elaine Thompson. Interesting to see how much Elaine Thompson has in the

1:42:10 > 1:42:13final, felt she was running on herself after the sluggish start.

1:42:13 > 1:42:22Jamile Samuel also going through automatically.

1:42:22 > 1:42:29automatically. The last round now of the long jump. Nettey. Barter letter

1:42:29 > 1:42:40is one place behind her. Nettey trying to improve on faith.

1:42:40 > 1:42:46High-class competition. Where is that? 6.62, her best so far in the

1:42:46 > 1:42:54third round. Been very consistent. She has had jumps of 6.55 and 6.6

1:42:54 > 1:43:01zero. It is another jump in that vicinity.

1:43:01 > 1:43:05vicinity. Nettey, well, it's a funny competition. You get the athletes

1:43:05 > 1:43:08are jockeying for position ahead of the world indoor Championships,

1:43:08 > 1:43:13feeling their way in. 6.62, matched the same distance she jumped on the

1:43:13 > 1:43:22third round but stayed in fifth. Another North America, Quanesha

1:43:22 > 1:43:30Burks of the USA. One place ahead of the Canadian. Unorthodox start,

1:43:30 > 1:43:38strides out hard, drives the arm, sprinting... It was very quick.

1:43:38 > 1:43:44Through the jump. Maybe didn't quite get the height but Burks has jumped

1:43:44 > 1:43:506.72 so far and again, that left hand coming out the pit, not happy

1:43:50 > 1:43:54with that, but loads of space to spare. Let's look at her left

1:43:54 > 1:43:59hand... If it lands before her feet it would assist her. Not sure of

1:43:59 > 1:44:03that. I will have a look at my rule book in a moment. 6.72, fourth

1:44:03 > 1:44:13place, it is an improvement. 6.73 a season best.

1:44:15 > 1:44:19season best. So, Madden are passed after the halfway stage.

1:44:19 > 1:44:24There is a winner, Sagnia, a young Swede, one to look forward to be

1:44:24 > 1:44:26World Championship next weekend. Big smiles from her and a win in

1:44:26 > 1:44:35Glasgow. So then

1:44:35 > 1:44:39Glasgow. So then that two Heights where she has needed two jumps to

1:44:39 > 1:44:46get over, now at the height of 4.4 five. Her team-mates still hasn't

1:44:46 > 1:44:48entered the competition. Over an hour and a half since we started.

1:44:48 > 1:44:53She has got clear this time on the first time of asking. Powerful

1:44:53 > 1:44:58stuff.

1:44:58 > 1:45:02She had a year out last year for the birth of her daughter, her first

1:45:02 > 1:45:10child. She's back in great shape. His season's best. But, as I say,

1:45:10 > 1:45:17her team-mate has kept her powder dry. Good clearance therefrom

1:45:17 > 1:45:26Kiriakopoulou. Goes into the World Indoors as a medal contender. Good

1:45:26 > 1:45:34celebrations from her. STUDIO: So we know that Dina

1:45:34 > 1:45:38Asher-Smith, winner of the first heat. Use your line-up for the

1:45:38 > 1:45:45second heat of the women's 60 metres.

1:45:46 > 1:45:52The two fastest in the field are lining up to qualify along Elaine

1:45:52 > 1:45:57Thompson and others for the final. Diani Walker will start in lane one.

1:45:57 > 1:46:037.35 seconds her best last season. Semifinalist at UK indoor champ

1:46:03 > 1:46:15digits last weekend. Asian games champion over 100 metres in 2014.

1:46:15 > 1:46:24Quanesha Burks of the USA. US long jump champion back in 2015. Second

1:46:24 > 1:46:29at the US Championships indoors last weekend. Then the tall, familiar

1:46:29 > 1:46:33figure of the flying Dutchwoman Dafne Schippers. Twice the world

1:46:33 > 1:46:39champion at 200 metres and a list. 7.09 seconds this season. She'll

1:46:39 > 1:46:45start in lane number four. Shorter in height but similar in speed.

1:46:45 > 1:46:53Marie Josee Ta Lou of the Ivory Coast. Fourth in Rio. Doubles over

1:46:53 > 1:46:59last year. 7.07 this season. Christiana Williams of Jamaica will

1:46:59 > 1:47:07start in sixth. Olympic finalist in Rio. 7.19 seconds outdoor over 60

1:47:07 > 1:47:13metres this year. Imani Lansiquot of Great Britain in lane seven. Fifth

1:47:13 > 1:47:19on the tour this year over the 60-metre distance will stop Shaneil

1:47:19 > 1:47:24English completing the line-up. 18-year-old. Personal-best this year

1:47:24 > 1:47:337.61 seconds. The two fastest in the field are Dafne Schippers in for and

1:47:33 > 1:47:37Marie Josee Ta Lou in five. They do battle all the time, the fastest

1:47:37 > 1:47:42women in the world. Their first task is to get into the top three to

1:47:42 > 1:47:46automatically qualify for the final later. Just before 5pm. What a treat

1:47:46 > 1:47:53it would be to have Dina Asher-Smith, Thomson, Schippers,

1:47:53 > 1:48:05lining up later in Glasgow. Second heat of the women's 60 metres.

1:48:05 > 1:48:12A clean start.

1:48:12 > 1:48:19Dafne Schippers is out of automatic qualifying.

1:48:19 > 1:48:28A touch of appreciation from Marie Josee Ta Lou. Dafne Schippers had a

1:48:28 > 1:48:35false start in Gent. She was the Bush champion, but not automatically

1:48:35 > 1:48:47in a qualifying spot, Dafne Schippers. So we await the results.

1:48:47 > 1:48:577.16 seconds. A personal best for staining Quanesha Burks. Williams of

1:48:57 > 1:49:01Jamaica third in automatic qualifying.I was watching Dafne

1:49:01 > 1:49:04Schippers very closely. She just ambled out of the blocks. There was

1:49:04 > 1:49:08no real Drive, grit or determination. Of course when you

1:49:08 > 1:49:16are up against someone like Marie Josee Ta Lou, you can't mess about.

1:49:16 > 1:49:20She no -- we know she's capable of the drive. She works hard, looks

1:49:20 > 1:49:29nice and bouncy, but a real struggle.

1:49:29 > 1:49:35struggle.She's been in decent form. 7.09. Her start let her down and you

1:49:35 > 1:49:39can't have that over a 60-metre indoor distance.Not at all. We know

1:49:39 > 1:49:43what she's capable of. She's gone close to the seven second mark

1:49:43 > 1:49:48before. She ran 7.09 English championships so we do expect a lot

1:49:48 > 1:49:52more from her but let's see what happens. The results are scrolling

1:49:52 > 1:49:59through. I think Dafne Schippers, who lets out the air because she

1:49:59 > 1:50:02didn't run well.

1:50:11 > 1:50:16I think by the skin of her Dutch teeth, Dafne Schippers has got a

1:50:16 > 1:50:23fastest non-automatic qualifying spot with 7.29 seconds and will join

1:50:23 > 1:50:27Imani Lansiquot of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The second bite of

1:50:27 > 1:50:28the cherry potentially for

1:50:28 > 1:50:29Northern Ireland. The second bite of the cherry potentially for the Dutch

1:50:29 > 1:50:36athlete. Dina Asher-Smith with 7.08 seconds. Will she challenged the

1:50:36 > 1:50:37British record later?

1:50:37 > 1:50:39seconds. Will she challenged the British record later? She looked in

1:50:39 > 1:50:46great shape. Very comfortable in deeper. Schippers was shaking your

1:50:46 > 1:50:52head, it didn't quite go right for her. She is more dominate than in

1:50:52 > 1:50:55100-metre running. This shorter distance, it's that much more

1:50:55 > 1:50:58difficult for endurance runners because you used to gaining ground

1:50:58 > 1:51:03later in the race but it looked more than that.I don't know. She's

1:51:03 > 1:51:09better over long distances. When you're running shorter distances,

1:51:09 > 1:51:13her weakness is her blocks and I know she's been working on that

1:51:13 > 1:51:16consistently. But it will get exposed over the shorter distances.

1:51:16 > 1:51:21She seemed to be running a lot of high-frequency but with no power or

1:51:21 > 1:51:26a length to it at all. She just got left and luckily she just got in by

1:51:26 > 1:51:30the skin of her teeth. We want to see her. She is a global medallist

1:51:30 > 1:51:33and world champion. We want to see her in the final. Let's get back

1:51:33 > 1:51:38outside because Steve Backley the pole vault competition is reaching

1:51:38 > 1:51:40its crescendo.

1:51:40 > 1:51:40pole vault competition is reaching its crescendo.

1:51:40 > 1:51:46COMMENTATOR: Certainly is.

1:51:46 > 1:51:51COMMENTATOR: Certainly is. The Olympic world champion, she has

1:51:51 > 1:51:55dominated the event in recent years, Katerina Stefanidi. She carries a

1:51:55 > 1:51:55dominated the event in recent years, Katerina Stefanidi. She carries a

1:51:55 > 1:52:02foul at this height of 4.6 five. Her team-mate went clear. She needs to

1:52:02 > 1:52:06improve year. She does. As suspected. I can only put that down

1:52:06 > 1:52:10to the way it she's had. She

1:52:10 > 1:52:11suspected. I can only put that down to the way it she's had. She needed

1:52:11 > 1:52:16to get back in and maybe warm up again. 18 consecutive victories

1:52:16 > 1:52:21coming into this competition for Stefanidi. Her team-mate is putting

1:52:21 > 1:52:30out the best challenge and this is well within her capabilities. 4.65,

1:52:30 > 1:52:36a good clearance at the second time of asking. We've mentioned Great

1:52:36 > 1:52:40Britain had a number of fourth-place finishes and last year's

1:52:40 > 1:52:44Championship but not many close to a bronze than Kyle Langford. Is late

1:52:44 > 1:52:47surge took him to in four 100th of second of that bronze medal. He's

1:52:47 > 1:52:53back here today looking to improve on that in a field that is

1:52:53 > 1:52:57high-class in the 800 metres, which would be a few more laps than he's

1:52:57 > 1:53:03used to. COMMENTATOR: It's a good season for

1:53:03 > 1:53:06Kyle Langford after that fourth-place. More attention on him,

1:53:06 > 1:53:08more profile. Folding his arms, looking up, waiting for the

1:53:08 > 1:53:18introduction. He has run well this indoor season already. 1:46.43.

1:53:18 > 1:53:23Seventh on the all-time list, but a very powerful line-up here. Two

1:53:23 > 1:53:30great Polish athletes.

1:53:30 > 1:53:34He is up against it here.

1:53:42 > 1:53:49Just going off for a further warm up. Every fast raised needs a Bram

1:53:49 > 1:53:57Som. He was European champions himself eight years ago. He's been

1:53:57 > 1:54:02fulfilling role of pacemaker for a good few years. He's taken a 400

1:54:02 > 1:54:06metres in 51 seconds. Again, this line-up, it's interesting when you

1:54:06 > 1:54:09look at Kyle Langford. He's almost made for indoor running, as well.

1:54:09 > 1:54:16He's very powerful. I get the impression he enjoys the cut and

1:54:16 > 1:54:20thrust of the more confined space.I think he does but I also think he

1:54:20 > 1:54:26has some Dunn something to learn tactics wise. It is a good learning

1:54:26 > 1:54:28game for him, indoors. Certain looking ahead to the Commonwealth

1:54:28 > 1:54:34Games. Get just into it with racing and where he needs to put himself in

1:54:34 > 1:54:41the race.He didn't race in the UK indoor Championships. Elliot Giles

1:54:41 > 1:54:46won that. Kyle Langford concentrating on other things and

1:54:46 > 1:54:51raced well in New York where he ran 1:46.40 three. He was ill just ahead

1:54:51 > 1:54:59of Boston's had to pull out there. Erik Sowinski just next to the pace,

1:54:59 > 1:55:05Bram Som. Marcin Lewandowski isn't

1:55:11 > 1:55:17Twice World Championship, silver medal, a great 800-metre winner now

1:55:17 > 1:55:20for a few years. He tells to get it right on the big occasions. Judges

1:55:20 > 1:55:31it so well. Jake Wightman and Kyle Langford. They share lane four.

1:55:38 > 1:55:44Kyle Langford, still just 22 and learning all the time. So many

1:55:44 > 1:55:49tactics and experience today. Lewandowski. He'll be using this as

1:55:49 > 1:55:55a trial.

1:55:55 > 1:56:04a trial.I think a lot of next week will be decided in this race.

1:56:04 > 1:56:07will be decided in this race. The Liverpool Harrier Jamie Webb is the

1:56:07 > 1:56:15UK indoor champion from a couple of years ago. Webb goes on the inside.

1:56:25 > 1:56:33Langford looks surprised to be here. He's wondering. He'll be held for a

1:56:33 > 1:56:36while then he had to do another one up and ready to go now in the men's

1:56:36 > 1:56:42800 metres. A little bit of noise there with the field events going on

1:56:42 > 1:56:50unsettled them.

1:56:52 > 1:56:59Incredulously from Kyle Langford. What on earth is going on? He and

1:56:59 > 1:57:06Jamie Webb set off together. Incredibly strong finish in the 800

1:57:06 > 1:57:10at the World Championships outdoors. Sometimes that spell from 400 to six

1:57:10 > 1:57:15metres a users to switch off a little bit. He's getting himself in

1:57:15 > 1:57:20a good position, having to just ease his way out into the open at the

1:57:20 > 1:57:26moment. Nobody really is going with Bram Som.One thing you can say

1:57:26 > 1:57:30about Bram Som is he will get to 400 metres in the pacey was asked to do

1:57:30 > 1:57:38but the rest of the field not keen to go with him. Erik Sowinski trying

1:57:38 > 1:57:42to make up from the frustration of not making the team. I'd like to see

1:57:42 > 1:57:51the British guys move a bit closer. It's not Som's responsibility. He

1:57:51 > 1:57:57will run at the pacey is asked to. Only Sowinski going with him at the

1:57:57 > 1:58:08moment. Others just looking up at the screen.

1:58:13 > 1:58:20Jake Wightman has paced this well so far.

1:58:33 > 1:58:44It's a bit busy. Sowinski looks to be beaten.

1:58:48 > 1:58:53A Polish one, two with Jake Wightman in third and Langford a little bit

1:58:53 > 1:58:58too far behind and to which to do in the latter stages. In fairness, Kyle

1:58:58 > 1:59:01Langford was ill in Boston. Wasn't able to take part in the race that

1:59:01 > 1:59:06after he had run so well the week before. Maybe he started to recover

1:59:06 > 1:59:09from that and looks as though he was trying to track and if you're going

1:59:09 > 1:59:19to pick someone to track, that's the right thing to do. Gase shot could

1:59:19 > 1:59:26be beaten. Is busily running really well off that and looking good going

1:59:26 > 1:59:30into the World Championships next week. Lewandowski made a good

1:59:30 > 1:59:36decision to make up there. A personal best by Jake Wightman. He

1:59:36 > 1:59:42judged that race very well. He may be burnt a little bit too much of

1:59:42 > 1:59:48his energy trying to make up the ground and the gap that Sowinski had

1:59:48 > 1:59:55built up early on. Kyle Langford trying to move out wide. Just can't

1:59:55 > 1:59:59quite pull the finish he usually has in the closing stages and Jake

1:59:59 > 2:00:05Wightman plays that very well and judged him very well.He always

2:00:05 > 2:00:09judges it so well. These are two of the best and most experienced

2:00:09 > 2:00:15middle-distance runners in the world and have been for a while.

2:00:15 > 2:00:21Lewandowski doesn't quite have the pace. Alan Keyes sought rarely gets

2:00:21 > 2:00:26it wrong.

2:00:28 > 2:00:31it wrong. Lewandowski has a decision to make on which distance he will

2:00:31 > 2:00:35run at the World Indoors, 800 1500. He was second to his compatriot

2:00:35 > 2:00:46here. Adam run that last 400 metres in 54.5 for the victory.

2:00:46 > 2:00:54Very good run from Jake Wightman. STUDIO: The men's long jump

2:00:54 > 2:00:58competition coming up just after 4:15pm, featuring Greg Rutherford,

2:00:58 > 2:01:01who missed most of our season because of growing and ankle

2:01:01 > 2:01:04injuries. He has had surgery this winter and is making his comeback at

2:01:04 > 2:01:10the moment. Dropped himself in a good position last week, taking the

2:01:10 > 2:01:14British title and has decided he is going to use today perhaps to see

2:01:14 > 2:01:19exactly where he is. If he makes an appearance at the world indoor

2:01:19 > 2:01:22Championships next week we will see but Colin Jackson spoke to him about

2:01:22 > 2:01:24the challenges he is having.

2:01:24 > 2:01:26but Colin Jackson spoke to him about the challenges he is having. It is

2:01:26 > 2:01:30lovely to be back, nice to be an athlete against it as part of my

2:01:30 > 2:01:33body definitely don't feel very athletic at the moment. Had a bit of

2:01:33 > 2:01:37a rough time of last year, I think it was documented that I was dealing

2:01:37 > 2:01:43with a lot of injuries. Remarkably, mid-January comes around and I was

2:01:43 > 2:01:45probably jumping better than last summer! We turned around and said,

2:01:45 > 2:01:50we will give it a go and see what happens.Commonwealth Games, the

2:01:50 > 2:01:53Championships directly after the world indoors, any decision is fully

2:01:53 > 2:01:58on that or are you still up in the air?I haven't officially pulled

2:01:58 > 2:02:01myself out of it. If I don't feel I have the ability to do it, then it's

2:02:01 > 2:02:06not right to do, I think. By doing the Commonwealth Games as well, I

2:02:06 > 2:02:10risk hugely pushing myself back for a summer... If I win the European

2:02:10 > 2:02:14Championships again, which I think I can, I become the first long jumper

2:02:14 > 2:02:19to do three on the trot.I don't really know how to say this but of

2:02:19 > 2:02:27all the stats, you're the only one. I'm finding myself like the old man

2:02:27 > 2:02:31now hanging around. I walk around on kids, Golden Tate because some of

2:02:31 > 2:02:37them are! I'll be honest, I was considering it. If I get to a point

2:02:37 > 2:02:41where my body is telling me that I can't do it, I will get out. But it

2:02:41 > 2:02:46would be nice to go to a fourth Olympics. What would please you this

2:02:46 > 2:02:49weekend?I will know if I am going over eight metres this weekend that

2:02:49 > 2:02:54I will go and be competitive. If I can do that, I will be thrilled.

2:02:54 > 2:03:00That will be, even for me, one of the fastest turnarounds from a rough

2:03:00 > 2:03:05period of injuries and surgeries. Fingers crossed!Hopefully.STUDIO:

2:03:05 > 2:03:09It is not about the rest of the field today but Greg pitting himself

2:03:09 > 2:03:14against his own body and ceiling where he is after those injuries.

2:03:14 > 2:03:18That just after 4:15pm. Let's get back out on the track for the

2:03:18 > 2:03:25fastest men in the Emirates Arena today. It is the men's 60 metres

2:03:25 > 2:03:28heat one and Adam Gemili, world champion in the 4x100 metres

2:03:28 > 2:03:30heat one and Adam Gemili, world champion in the 4x100 metres goes on

2:03:30 > 2:03:34this one. COMMENTATOR: He does indeed, lining up in way number six

2:03:34 > 2:03:38in this first heat of the men's 60 metres. Nonautomatic finals will go

2:03:38 > 2:03:44to the final just after five o'clock. Adam Gemili, Commonwealth

2:03:44 > 2:03:50Games bound in 2018, that is how he is starting off his championship.

2:03:50 > 2:03:546.62 seconds this season, just a little outside his lifetime best. He

2:03:54 > 2:03:58will be looking to put on a good performance, as will the Mander,

2:03:58 > 2:04:05bouncing up and down there, shaking and dancing in main number four. The

2:04:05 > 2:04:09athlete from China, unbeaten in six races this season, the preevent

2:04:09 > 2:04:15favourite coming into this men's 60 metres. There is your fall line-up.

2:04:15 > 2:04:18British representation in abundance, as you would expect. Their blocks

2:04:18 > 2:04:25have been set. Here is your line-up, and a number two, Ryan Shields of

2:04:25 > 2:04:31Jamaica.

2:04:31 > 2:04:35Jamaica. 34 years old now. In-line number three, the UK champion over

2:04:35 > 2:04:41100 metres last year. He went on to reach the world final in London,

2:04:41 > 2:04:48Reece Prescod. 21 years old. What has the young man got in 2018? Inlay

2:04:48 > 2:04:53number four, 20 and Sue of China, the world number three. An Asian

2:04:53 > 2:05:01record. He has been on fire on the IAAF world indoor tour this year.

2:05:01 > 2:05:06Outside of Su, lane five, Bryce Robinson making his European indoor

2:05:06 > 2:05:11debut here. We welcome you to Glasgow inlay number five. For that

2:05:11 > 2:05:15the US Championships last again. Then there will be a bleak Glasgow

2:05:15 > 2:05:20Royal -- big Glasgow Royal for Adam Gemili, a member of the gold winning

2:05:20 > 2:05:25relay squad. Just missed out on bronze in Rio. In-line number seven,

2:05:25 > 2:05:31world indoor bound, second at the UK Championships last weekend, Andrew

2:05:31 > 2:05:39Robertson. 6.62 seconds this season. Completing the line-up, from the

2:05:39 > 2:05:45Netherlands, Churandy Martina.

2:05:45 > 2:05:48Netherlands, Churandy Martina. 43 years old, and still going strong!

2:05:48 > 2:05:55So, hits number one of the men's 60 metres. -- heat number one. Prescod

2:05:55 > 2:06:02in three. Su in four.

2:06:02 > 2:06:04in three. Su in four. Gemili there, Robertson in seven. The first three

2:06:04 > 2:06:10guaranteed a place in the final. We have had some super running in 2018

2:06:10 > 2:06:17so far over men's 60 metres. We are looking for that to continue.

2:06:24 > 2:06:28So, pretty even start. Robertsone away reasonably well. The American

2:06:28 > 2:06:34going well in lane five. Well, Su of China, I said he has been unbeaten

2:06:34 > 2:06:40in six races in three hits and three finals. Just grabs the win, 6.57

2:06:40 > 2:06:46seconds. He has been a revelation this year, Colin Jackson, indoor so

2:06:46 > 2:06:51far.Really sensational. I was wondering how he was going to take

2:06:51 > 2:06:54this first heat because normally he doesn't run particularly fast in the

2:06:54 > 2:06:59first round will stop a really competent run. But when it comes to

2:06:59 > 2:07:04the final, he steps it up to another gear. Again, as you see, didn't

2:07:04 > 2:07:09really get out, did he, Su? Not a normal starter in that sense. Adam

2:07:09 > 2:07:15Gemili always strong at the end. Third place, just ahead of Reece

2:07:15 > 2:07:19Prescod, I think. But Su takes that and eases his way into the final. I

2:07:19 > 2:07:24still think there is a couple of metres left in that man.Well, by

2:07:24 > 2:07:28one hundredth of a second, Su of China keeps his unbeaten run going.

2:07:28 > 2:07:36He will be in the final later. There is confirmation.

2:07:36 > 2:07:40is confirmation. Prescod grabbed the third automatic qualifying spot.

2:07:40 > 2:07:47Adam Gemili will have to wait.

2:07:47 > 2:07:58Only two athletes remain in this pole vault competition. Out in front

2:07:58 > 2:08:13is. Carrying two fouls at 4.75, as is her team-mate. It will be a great

2:08:13 > 2:08:24one, two. Very slow in the bend that at 4.75 to

2:08:24 > 2:08:27at 4.75 to much for Nikoleta Kiriakopoulou. That is a foul, she

2:08:27 > 2:08:36crossed the line at the bar. Three fouls. But she is in the lead. So,

2:08:36 > 2:08:50to protect and 18 strong winning streak Katerina Stefanidi. She has

2:08:50 > 2:08:56to remain clean here. The world Olympic champion under some pressure

2:08:56 > 2:09:06when the going gets tough. Good heavens, brilliant!

2:09:06 > 2:09:12heavens, brilliant! Stefanidi, maybe she just needed that extra bit of

2:09:12 > 2:09:16pressure from Kiriakopoulou. Her work is done. Stefanidi, this is

2:09:16 > 2:09:20only her fifth jump of the afternoon, only her second

2:09:20 > 2:09:25successful jump. A bit of a sloppy competition, but Stefanidi has been

2:09:25 > 2:09:29utterly dominant and she does it through consistency and delivering

2:09:29 > 2:09:33when it matters. She is not necessarily miles above the

2:09:33 > 2:09:36opposition, but she is just a supreme competitor and she proves

2:09:36 > 2:09:39once again.

2:09:42 > 2:09:46So then, ahead of the world indoors it looks like the great jumpers are

2:09:46 > 2:09:54in great shape. Meanwhile, there's suspense builds ahead of the men's

2:09:54 > 2:09:59second heat of the 60 metres. A very tight race, the first heat. This but

2:09:59 > 2:10:07line-up for the second... Edoburun looking to make up for the indoors.

2:10:07 > 2:10:13Kim Collins going in lane two.

2:10:13 > 2:10:18They will run shortly but we will head back to the field, because

2:10:18 > 2:10:24Stefanidi has won the competition, and this is her third chance to

2:10:24 > 2:10:30improve a season's Best Buy just one centimetres. She jumped 4.83 in

2:10:30 > 2:10:38France eight days ago. She has improved in every competition so far

2:10:38 > 2:10:41this year.

2:10:43 > 2:10:50Getting some close-up shots of the Olympic champion. She has been

2:10:50 > 2:10:58dominant. She won here last year in this event, I should say. Great view

2:10:58 > 2:11:02there of the reverse angle of her approach. You can see she stands 30

2:11:02 > 2:11:12metres or so back from the uprights. Two fouls so far, and she has to

2:11:12 > 2:11:17master every positive thought, of course, in preparation to go clear.

2:11:17 > 2:11:24Hard to tell really any technical challenges she has had, but it has

2:11:24 > 2:11:29been a sloppy competition so far by her own standards. Look at all of

2:11:29 > 2:11:35the crosses, the fouls so far. So, 4.84, third time of asking for

2:11:35 > 2:11:40Stefanidi. Too much! May be saving it for next week, it matters more

2:11:40 > 2:11:49there. The victory is hers. A Greek one, two. Stefanidi with a jump of

2:11:49 > 2:11:514.75 wins here in Glasgow.

2:11:53 > 2:11:58Sprinters are just waiting for Stefanidi and the pole vault to

2:11:58 > 2:12:02finish thereafter than's work and we are just about ready for the second

2:12:02 > 2:12:07heat in the first round of the men's 60 metres. The final at 5:08pm. It

2:12:07 > 2:12:20is the line-up. To guard a on the inside. -- Otugade on the inside.

2:12:20 > 2:12:30Kim Collins runs in lane two. Ageless. Except he's not, he's 41.

2:12:30 > 2:12:42Andrew Fisher, the Jamaican who runs the Bahrain goes in lane three. A

2:12:42 > 2:12:45very, quick starter. Ujah, he's doing it the other way, prioritising

2:12:45 > 2:12:53world indoors are not going to the Commonwealth Games. A man in great

2:12:53 > 2:13:06form, Mike Rodgers, he could challenge for the indoor title.

2:13:06 > 2:13:16Edoburun got it wrong last time. He has run very quickly this season,

2:13:16 > 2:13:246.5 eight. Sam Gordon, what a run he had in Birmingham at the UK

2:13:24 > 2:13:28Championships, third behind Robertson and Ujah. 6.67 his

2:13:28 > 2:13:37personal best. On the outside from Slovenia, Bujna. Slovakia, I

2:13:37 > 2:13:43apologise.

2:13:43 > 2:13:46apologise. Very, very different countries! Bujna is on the outside.

2:13:46 > 2:13:54Rogers alongside Goodger. Kim Collins, the great Kim Collins,

2:13:54 > 2:13:58former world champion in lane two.

2:14:00 > 2:14:05Look out for these two, Ujah and Mike Rodgers alongside each other.

2:14:05 > 2:14:09Three go through automatically. Keep an eye on the times because Gemili's

2:14:09 > 2:14:15time in the first heat hanging on as one of the fastest losers. And

2:14:15 > 2:14:24Andrew Fisher, keep on running. He knows there will be no need to have

2:14:24 > 2:14:35to wait and get the card, but... Andrew Fisher knows, holding his

2:14:35 > 2:14:40finger to his lips owing some noise put him off, Colin. It is always

2:14:40 > 2:14:43worth giving that ago in seeing what the officials do but I'm not sure

2:14:43 > 2:14:52he's going to get away with that, if I'm honest.I was briefly unsighted.

2:14:52 > 2:14:54She will have none of it.

2:15:03 > 2:15:08I disagree strongly with your actions, says Fisher, but the card

2:15:08 > 2:15:13is near. Fisher is no more. One of the clueless false starts you will

2:15:13 > 2:15:22see. It did not seem to be too noisy.

2:15:25 > 2:15:36Let's have another look, just for prosperity.

2:15:36 > 2:15:43prosperity. -- posterity. There is no argument. We are not hearing the

2:15:43 > 2:15:49sound but there is no argument.

2:15:51 > 2:15:56It is a good start by Rodgers. CJ Ujah trying to get back. Kim Collins

2:15:56 > 2:16:03running well. A very good run by Michael Rodgers. CJ Ujah and

2:16:03 > 2:16:06Edoburun after all that. It is a quick enough time as well. We look

2:16:06 > 2:16:12at the times of the others. I think Adam Gemili will be OK to go

2:16:12 > 2:16:15through. Michael Rodgers is so experienced. He has been around for

2:16:15 > 2:16:23so long. He is such a quick starter. Edoburun in second place, Ujah in

2:16:23 > 2:16:27third. Kim Collins will go through with Gemili is the two fastest

2:16:27 > 2:16:37losers. It was a decent run. We are looking at Ujah

2:16:37 > 2:16:39looking at Ujah categories UK title, but Rodgers left a little bag -- a

2:16:39 > 2:16:41little.You expect that from Rodgers. He works hard for the first

2:16:41 > 2:16:4630 metres. Ujah has to concentrate and not get paid. He can haul

2:16:46 > 2:16:49himself through and get the qualification, which is what he has

2:16:49 > 2:16:55got.You are through to the final but how do you feel about that

2:16:55 > 2:16:59performance?I sat in the blocks a bit. It is nice to qualify and get

2:16:59 > 2:17:05ready for the final. You say you sat in the blocks, there was a false

2:17:05 > 2:17:09start, how does that play with your main?As a professional athlete, you

2:17:09 > 2:17:14have to go again, it does not play with my mind.I have got to get

2:17:14 > 2:17:19ready for the next round. What is the process? Taken it up more, turn

2:17:19 > 2:17:26up and win the you.

2:17:26 > 2:17:30See JJ is safely through, second best on that the cage into Edoburun.

2:17:30 > 2:17:36I did run for him. Just outside his personal best. Michael Rodgers

2:17:36 > 2:17:42heading them all. Kim Collins also through, with the same time as Adam

2:17:42 > 2:17:47Gemili. Those two will be the fastest losers. These are the final

2:17:47 > 2:17:51hours. That is just after five o'clock.

2:17:58 > 2:18:02Rodgers and Bingtian Su going for the overall title. It is a great

2:18:02 > 2:18:07line-up. Young Morgan Lake looking for some

2:18:07 > 2:18:14support from the Glasgow crowd. The barriers at 1.88 metres. Really

2:18:14 > 2:18:23nicely. A good clearance. -- the bar is at. She has changed lots of

2:18:23 > 2:18:31aspects of her jumping this winter. More of her in a while as we turn

2:18:31 > 2:18:37our

2:18:37 > 2:18:40our attention to Lasitskene. A neutral athlete, and a solid

2:18:40 > 2:18:45clearance. She is not happy with something. It is a good start for

2:18:45 > 2:18:53the double world champion. Highly expected to win. Another challenger.

2:18:53 > 2:19:03Lavern Spencer. She has equalled her national record this year. Also 1.88

2:19:03 > 2:19:07metres. The athletes have gone clear.

2:19:07 > 2:19:10We are racing through the programme but there is plenty to come. Greg

2:19:10 > 2:19:14Rutherford is back on our screens shortly in the long jump, preparing

2:19:14 > 2:19:20for next week's World Indoors. Another medal Corp in Birmingham is

2:19:20 > 2:19:24Andrew Pozzi. We will see in the 60 metres hurdles. Some of the fastest

2:19:24 > 2:19:29women in the world will contest the final of the 60 metres flat

2:19:29 > 2:19:34including Dafne Schippers. And Lynsey Sharp is back on home soil,

2:19:34 > 2:19:43hoping to thrill the Scottish crowd in the 800 metres.

2:19:44 > 2:19:48The next event on the track is the men's 3000 metres. It has been

2:19:48 > 2:19:55weakened slightly with a couple of big names withdrawing. A couple of

2:19:55 > 2:20:02athletes are gone. This is how they line up. Look out for Paul Chelimo,

2:20:02 > 2:20:06the US champion. A strong British representation as well. Reuben Bett

2:20:06 > 2:20:16as well, one of the impressive Kenyans in the line-up. In terms of

2:20:16 > 2:20:22the overall IAAF World Indoor title, that means that Kejelcha will be

2:20:22 > 2:20:30champion. Gebrehiwot is pulled out. Chelimo is running so well,

2:20:30 > 2:20:37representing the US Army. He won the US title. He is alongside Kejelcha.

2:20:37 > 2:20:44They are strong favourites for this race. Davis Kiplangat represented

2:20:44 > 2:20:47Kenyatta World Championships last year at 5000 metres well still a

2:20:47 > 2:20:55junior. He is only 19 years old. Andrew Heyes. Justus Soget of tenure

2:20:55 > 2:21:03as well. -- Kenya.

2:21:05 > 2:21:08as well. -- Kenya. Nick Goolab did lots of the frontrunning at the UK

2:21:08 > 2:21:12Championships trying to get the qualifying standard. He paid the

2:21:12 > 2:21:19price a little bit. Britain's representative in the 3000 metres at

2:21:19 > 2:21:21the World Indoors, Jonathan Davies, who ran the qualifying time in

2:21:21 > 2:21:29Boston.

2:21:30 > 2:21:37Vincent Letting and Reuben Bett or the two pacemakers on the outside.

2:21:37 > 2:21:41The men's 3000 metres or under way. Paula Radcliffe is alongside keeping

2:21:41 > 2:21:46a close eye on this. I have watched Chelimo recently and he is so

2:21:46 > 2:21:51strong. He Breust Mo Farah hard in a couple of races as well and had a

2:21:51 > 2:21:55good run in the World Championships. He is the great American hope. Years

2:21:55 > 2:21:58and he's getting stronger and more confident with every race. He won

2:21:58 > 2:22:02the double in the US indoor Championships and will compete only

2:22:02 > 2:22:07over the 3000 metres. He will compete in Birmingham next week.

2:22:07 > 2:22:12They have asked for a quick pace, 2.32 through the first thousand

2:22:12 > 2:22:21metres. They are aiming for 7.35 pace. We will see a willing people

2:22:21 > 2:22:25are to go with this. Kejelcha is slotted in behind the pacemakers and

2:22:25 > 2:22:30the rest of the field are strung out.Reuben Bett is the pacemaker

2:22:30 > 2:22:36and ban them, Vincent Letting. Then the Kenyans and the tall figure of

2:22:36 > 2:22:41the Ethiopian, Kejelcha.

2:22:42 > 2:22:46the Ethiopian, Kejelcha. Then we have Davis Kiplangat, the Kenyan. As

2:22:46 > 2:22:49you would expect for the British athletes, you do not want to burden

2:22:49 > 2:22:53yourself by going at a pace which is beyond you. You have got to run your

2:22:53 > 2:22:58own race, to a certain extent but it is useful to have a certain pace to

2:22:58 > 2:23:03feed from. The athletes from Britain are trying to sit on the train as

2:23:03 > 2:23:11long as they can, basically. Morgan Lake is eyeing up the new

2:23:11 > 2:23:20height. 1.92 metres. She has seen Lasitskene also go clear that the

2:23:20 > 2:23:27same height. She sits behind her in second place at the moment. She gets

2:23:27 > 2:23:35it. A brilliant jump. That is a season's best for the 20-year-old.

2:23:35 > 2:23:47Great stuff. The next eight is metres. That is really good.

2:23:47 > 2:23:52metres. That is really good. -- next height is 1.95. That is a good

2:23:52 > 2:24:01clearance. I am pleased for her. I mentioned Lasitskene. Massively

2:24:01 > 2:24:05dominant. 36 successive victories and a clean sheet so far. Look at

2:24:05 > 2:24:18that. She does not give much away. She made that looked very average.

2:24:18 > 2:24:241.95 metres, let's expect that. She has had six jumps in excess of two

2:24:24 > 2:24:30metres this season, such is her brilliance.

2:24:31 > 2:24:35Meanwhile, the 3000 metres continue, just as Reuben Bett drops out, the

2:24:35 > 2:24:41first pacemaker was supposed to take them through 1000 metres, and he was

2:24:41 > 2:24:46not far away from the required time. He did a good job. He was checking

2:24:46 > 2:24:50over his shoulder, and he did a good job of stepping off the track and

2:24:50 > 2:24:55handing over to the second pacemaker. The leading group is down

2:24:55 > 2:25:00to six.Five are starting to move away. The man losing contact at the

2:25:00 > 2:25:06back is the Dutch athlete Benjamin De Haan. You can see in labelling

2:25:06 > 2:25:09slightly in the white vest. The British athletes are another ten

2:25:09 > 2:25:16metres by running their own race, being sensible. Kejelcha is just ban

2:25:16 > 2:25:21the pacemaker, Vincent Letting. Then it is Chelimo. The Kenyan athletes

2:25:21 > 2:25:24in the Ethiopian, then the Kenyan who runs for the United States in

2:25:24 > 2:25:29Chelimo. He is in fourth place on the track, but effectively third,

2:25:29 > 2:25:35just ban Kiplangat.

2:25:35 > 2:25:38just ban Kiplangat. -- just behind. Then another Kenyan, Justus Soget.

2:25:38 > 2:25:47He is in the orange vest. Then an Ethiopian, Dida. Soget just begins

2:25:47 > 2:25:53to move and makes it look easy as well. Kejelcha looking strong bank

2:25:53 > 2:25:56to pacemaker in second place, Vincent Letting.

2:26:05 > 2:26:10It is a big day for the main man, Greg Rutherford. He has said the

2:26:10 > 2:26:16rest of his season depends on what he does here this afternoon. The

2:26:16 > 2:26:22World Indoors is a possibility. The only medal that has eluded him so

2:26:22 > 2:26:28far in what has been a brilliant career. He is 31. There are some

2:26:28 > 2:26:34hungry youngsters who want to enjoy the successes that he has over the

2:26:34 > 2:26:42past five or six years. Longer. Rutherford said anything over eight

2:26:42 > 2:26:48metres and he will be delighted.

2:26:48 > 2:26:51metres and he will be delighted. He jumped 7.8 metres to take a British

2:26:51 > 2:26:54title last weekend in Birmingham. He said he was terrified of the

2:26:54 > 2:27:02competition. It is much more impressive today. The first jump for

2:27:02 > 2:27:05Rutherford. Looking for something around eight metres. He squeezes

2:27:05 > 2:27:11everything out of that. It is around eight metres. It is good on the

2:27:11 > 2:27:18board. I think he will like this. He is not celebrating too much. It is a

2:27:18 > 2:27:22red flag. I have just saw that. It is a shame. That was a decent

2:27:22 > 2:27:27effort.

2:27:28 > 2:27:32effort. Just a marginal foul, but a good start. Five jumps remaining.

2:27:39 > 2:27:49Back to the high jump. Mariya Lasitskene, a clean sheet so far. A

2:27:49 > 2:27:55two-metre plus jump on so many occasions. 1.95 metres again made to

2:27:55 > 2:27:57look so comfortable.

2:28:01 > 2:28:08500 metres remaining in the 3000 metres. The pace continues to left.

2:28:08 > 2:28:15Two Ethiopians, two Kenyans and the American, Paul Chelimo. Chelimo, the

2:28:15 > 2:28:19American champion, looking comfortable.Kejelcha strides around

2:28:19 > 2:28:23the outside. We have missed a lot in this race, toing and froing. The

2:28:23 > 2:28:32pace you're going between 30 and 32 second laps.They are getting ready

2:28:32 > 2:28:40to make their move. As we expected, these two going to the front.

2:28:40 > 2:28:44Chelimo and Kejelcha. Kiplangat in behind. It might be down to the

2:28:44 > 2:28:52three, Chelimo, Kejelcha can Kiplangat. They hear the bell.

2:28:52 > 2:28:56Kejelcha so familiar in this position is well in major

2:28:56 > 2:29:02championships. Chelimo look to his outside. He sees Kejelcha but he

2:29:02 > 2:29:07responds, Chelimo. Kejelcha, the head bobbing. The young Kenyan is

2:29:07 > 2:29:16not finished yet. Soget. Kiplangat hits the inside and stumbles.

2:29:16 > 2:29:21Chelimo has to go again. He should not have looked around. He has given

2:29:21 > 2:29:25the race away. Soget might have stolen it on the line. Chelimo

2:29:25 > 2:29:30thought he had on it, he was looking to either side and the east of just

2:29:30 > 2:29:37a fraction. He has been picked on the line by Soget, who ran through

2:29:37 > 2:29:41the tape and took the victory.I think he was beaten. We said that

2:29:41 > 2:29:47Chelimo was growing in confidence. Maybe that was overconfidence. He

2:29:47 > 2:29:51saw the danger too late. He saw the danger coming from Soget on the

2:29:51 > 2:30:01outside and he was not able to respond. It is a stadium record. On

2:30:01 > 2:30:03hundredth in it. It was mis-judgement. Chelimo should've won

2:30:03 > 2:30:11that race. He wrapped it up too soon.

2:30:14 > 2:30:18soon. He give it away.

2:30:18 > 2:30:22That's how it ended but let's see how it got to that point. Chelimo

2:30:22 > 2:30:28was in total control of that race, the 18-year-old, should be the least

2:30:28 > 2:30:32experienced here. Chelimo has all that experience and Soget, 18 years

2:30:32 > 2:30:37old. You can see him here. I thought he was gone. Fire Ringo on the back

2:30:37 > 2:30:43straight.Yes, 18 years old but he has an amazing future ahead of him

2:30:43 > 2:30:50if he maintains what he is doing now. He waited, didn't go too wide,

2:30:50 > 2:30:54then gave it everything he had in the straight. You can see Chelimo

2:30:54 > 2:31:02starting to stumble. Just that look aside, realised he had nothing left,

2:31:02 > 2:31:07not enough time to be able to react and do anything about the surge of

2:31:07 > 2:31:11Soget. Don't think he even realised he had a chance until this point.

2:31:11 > 2:31:14Easing fractionally and then he tries to go Gambhir T can't go

2:31:14 > 2:31:18again, can't build up to the speed Soget has coming down the outside. A

2:31:18 > 2:31:26great finish. Chelimo, you can see him looking round all the time.

2:31:26 > 2:31:30Think he is aware of what everyone is but Soget has an entirely

2:31:30 > 2:31:35different look on his face.Further down the field, a personal best by

2:31:35 > 2:31:45Andrew Heyes and Lewis Moses.Not often an 18-year-old gives a lesson

2:31:45 > 2:31:53to Paul Chelimo but Soget has done so there. Let's confirm that and the

2:31:53 > 2:31:57times as Paula said, very good times all the way down the list. Justus

2:31:57 > 2:32:02Soget beating Paul Chelimo, the US champion, who will remember this for

2:32:02 > 2:32:09a while. Kejelcha would take the overall tour title. A personal best

2:32:09 > 2:32:16for Andrew Heyes and Lewis Moses. Great from them.

2:32:16 > 2:32:20One more chance for Morgan Lake to add one centimetre to her lifetime

2:32:20 > 2:32:30best. She already has a season's best, the 20-year-old athlete. She

2:32:30 > 2:32:34loves the pressure. She is an Olympic finalist, double world

2:32:34 > 2:32:41junior champion, but 1.95 too much for her to day. Three fouls she has

2:32:41 > 2:32:48done, but a season's best. A shake of the head, clearly wanted that.

2:32:48 > 2:32:56She believes she can and that is important. Her coach watching on,

2:32:56 > 2:33:00and says she is in great shape, and running at it so well. Looking

2:33:00 > 2:33:07forward to seeing how she progresses.

2:33:07 > 2:33:11Colin Jackson has won his first gold medal! He is the champion of the

2:33:11 > 2:33:16world!Athletic supporters are looking on not just with admiration

2:33:16 > 2:33:27but in awe.Listen to this cheer! Jess Ennis.

2:33:28 > 2:33:40Jess Ennis. This guy is on fire! This stadium has been set alight!I

2:33:40 > 2:33:45think you might just about get there. He is the world champion!

2:33:45 > 2:33:49STUDIO: Yes, the world indoor Championships begin on Thursday. All

2:33:49 > 2:33:54four days live on the BBC.

2:33:57 > 2:34:00The Winter Olympics have come to a close, of course, the final today at

2:34:00 > 2:34:07the games tonight at 7pm. At midnight, highlights from the

2:34:07 > 2:34:12women's Six Nations on BBC Two. On Tuesday we bring you live coverage

2:34:12 > 2:34:16of Swansea against Sheffield Wednesday in their FA Cup replay.

2:34:16 > 2:34:21Shortly on the track, not next up, but very shortly the fastest women

2:34:21 > 2:34:26here will be lining up for the 60 metres final. We saw some impressive

2:34:26 > 2:34:28running from Dina Asher-Smith in her heat a little

2:34:28 > 2:34:29running from Dina Asher-Smith in her heat a little earlier on. She made

2:34:29 > 2:34:34that look very comfortable, didn't she?The hard work is paying off.

2:34:34 > 2:34:38Effortless, an effortless piece of running from a young lady who has

2:34:38 > 2:34:41great championship experience but putting it to good effect today.

2:34:41 > 2:34:47Just look at the daylight between her and the others. Amazing piece of

2:34:47 > 2:34:51running cost of her cadence beautiful, very composed, very

2:34:51 > 2:34:56relaxed and happy. And of course on the other heat we saw Dafne

2:34:56 > 2:35:01Schippers with a slightly more challenging race, in terms of her

2:35:01 > 2:35:07own personal form. Stuttering may be.Stuttering at the start, she

2:35:07 > 2:35:11can't afford to do that over 60 metres because she is surrounded by

2:35:11 > 2:35:16very quick goals and it will cost. That is coming up shortly. The men's

2:35:16 > 2:35:19long jump competition is underway. Greg Rutherford of Great Britain is

2:35:19 > 2:35:23looking to see just where he is at.

2:35:25 > 2:35:30COMMENTATOR: We might be about to find out, because he has taken to

2:35:30 > 2:35:34the runway. For

2:35:34 > 2:35:36find out, because he has taken to the runway. For the second time of

2:35:36 > 2:35:43asking. His first jump was a foul, but it was a long foul. He said

2:35:43 > 2:35:46before the competition began that he wants to go in excess of eight

2:35:46 > 2:35:50metres, if he does that he will consider the world indoors. Based on

2:35:50 > 2:35:56what we saw a few minutes ago, looks capable. He suffered that ankle

2:35:56 > 2:36:00injury and couldn't walk in November, it's amazing. He has

2:36:00 > 2:36:08defied the doctors in just being here. There is the offending ankle.

2:36:08 > 2:36:16So, Rutherford, second round. The leader at the moment four

2:36:20 > 2:36:23. It is brilliantly long, brilliantly good, it is a white flag

2:36:23 > 2:36:34this time. Rutherford, that looks beyond eight metres. Thumbs up. Good

2:36:34 > 2:36:39on the board, good extension. If it is not over, it is bang on. He can't

2:36:39 > 2:36:44be far off. He made the necessary adjustment. He is a great

2:36:44 > 2:36:50competitor. He has proved that time and time again. 7.89, goes into

2:36:50 > 2:36:56second place. A season's best and a good start for Greg Rutherford.

2:37:03 > 2:37:08STUDIO: So a season's best for Greg Rutherford in the men's long jump.

2:37:08 > 2:37:13Next is the women's 1500 metres, a full field once again, 14 athletes

2:37:13 > 2:37:26due to be lined up for the 1500 metres here in Glasgow.

2:37:30 > 2:37:34Chepkoech the ability possibility of winning the trip Matt Green set

2:37:34 > 2:37:39herself up for the world indoor Championships next week. There is

2:37:39 > 2:37:44Chepkoech, best known for the U-turn she performed at the world

2:37:44 > 2:37:53steeplechase final last year in London. Missed it completely.

2:37:54 > 2:37:57Cichocka from Poland, European 1500 metre champion a couple of seasons

2:37:57 > 2:38:10ago. There is Embaye from Ethiopia, world silver in 2015. Looking

2:38:10 > 2:38:18relaxed, looking good to go. 4:5.64 this season. For Great Britain,

2:38:18 > 2:38:20Stephanie Twell, off to the Commonwealth Games down under.

2:38:20 > 2:38:27Missed last week because she was poorly but she has completed her

2:38:27 > 2:38:36teaching degree. She is smiling and back well. Snowden, and there is

2:38:36 > 2:38:41Sarah McDonald. Also Commonwealth Games bound. Fifth in Boston. In

2:38:41 > 2:38:50good form. And Krauss lined up on the inside the Germany. Maybe one to

2:38:50 > 2:38:55watch in this women's 1500 metres. So we have had some truly

2:38:55 > 2:38:59competitive world-class athletics, as you would expect here in Glasgow.

2:38:59 > 2:39:03That is what we are expecting now in this women's 1500 metres. A big

2:39:03 > 2:39:12field. Mezulianikova will set the pace. How are we reading this one?

2:39:12 > 2:39:18Hopefully the pace will be set well. We see straightaway Chepkoech wants

2:39:18 > 2:39:26to go with her pace and sit behind. Chepkoech miss the water jump in the

2:39:26 > 2:39:30World Championships in London and then fell later in the race and

2:39:30 > 2:39:33obstructed Krause pretty badly. Krause further back in the blue vest

2:39:33 > 2:39:40on the inside. Ran very well in the week that maybe has a bit of a...

2:39:40 > 2:39:43Not a grudge to settle but she would like to run well here and put the

2:39:43 > 2:39:46disappointment of that race in London behind her and get back

2:39:46 > 2:39:53racing well.So it is Chepkoech that has gone with the pace. Five points

2:39:53 > 2:39:58behind the leader on the tour. The winner of these IAAF tour events are

2:39:58 > 2:40:01guaranteed a place in the indoor Championships, which means it could

2:40:01 > 2:40:07be a pretty fierce line-up for the likes of Laura knew, who will run

2:40:07 > 2:40:11over 3000 metres on the first night of action in Birmingham next week.

2:40:11 > 2:40:16The field is coming back, they face has been set. The Czech Republic

2:40:16 > 2:40:19athlete looking comfortable and didn't control.Doing a good job so

2:40:19 > 2:40:28far. Chepkoech doing well so far. A big gap back to Chebet, who has

2:40:28 > 2:40:32decided to drop back and leave the chasing pack. Stephanie Twell

2:40:32 > 2:40:36sitting behind her. Only just got back to running in the week after

2:40:36 > 2:40:44that illness last week. So, the lead phrase proper -- race proper sits on

2:40:44 > 2:40:50behind the pacemaker, Chepkoech. As Paula said, put herself in a good

2:40:50 > 2:40:57position. Chebet, Krause and McDonald holding the inside line.

2:40:57 > 2:41:03Four laps to go on this women's 1500 metres. Down the back straight at

2:41:03 > 2:41:07the Emirates arena. We know what is up for grabs in this women's 1500

2:41:07 > 2:41:11metres on the pace is starting to increase but two separate races.

2:41:11 > 2:41:18Absolutely. Chepkoech and Embaye at the front and further back, Sarah

2:41:18 > 2:41:23McDonald, who has now got herself in a good position on the shoulder of

2:41:23 > 2:41:29Chebet. Stacey Smith tracking her. That is Katie Snowden as well, who

2:41:29 > 2:41:36ran very well for second place and looking to improve her personal best

2:41:36 > 2:41:41this year, if she can.So a breakaway from the race leader.

2:41:41 > 2:41:46Chepkoech has put her foot down. First that the Kenyan Commonwealth

2:41:46 > 2:41:55Games trials over the 1500 metres. That 31 second lap by Chepkoech has

2:41:55 > 2:41:59done the damage, very impressive running from a woman who first and

2:41:59 > 2:42:01foremost is a steeplechase and stepping down to the 1500 metres

2:42:01 > 2:42:07here.

2:42:07 > 2:42:13here.A nice little battle here for the minor places. Chebet still

2:42:13 > 2:42:20leading the way. Smith is in the mix as well but it is a huge lead, 32.31

2:42:20 > 2:42:26seconds for that lap.Backing off a little bit now. This is a very

2:42:26 > 2:42:30impressive run. Doesn't even look like she is working hard from her

2:42:30 > 2:42:33face. But you can see how much damage it is doing and to the

2:42:33 > 2:42:42runners behind. Sarah McDonald trying to go and Stacey Smith

2:42:42 > 2:42:50running well.The lead is in no doubt. Chepkoech, the 26-year-old

2:42:50 > 2:42:54Kenyan is going to get a big win here today in Glasgow. Keeping an

2:42:54 > 2:43:05eye on the clock as well. Just over four minutes, 4.02 point 21.

2:43:05 > 2:43:16Chepkoech in the women's 1500 metres. Embaye comes on in second. A

2:43:16 > 2:43:23battle for the minor places in that women's 1500 metres. The

2:43:27 > 2:43:32Chepkoech was kind of on her own in that. Her own pacemaker in the

2:43:32 > 2:43:36closing stages. She worked hard for that. Through in a hard surge in the

2:43:36 > 2:43:401,000-metre mark and held on and kept running very strongly through

2:43:40 > 2:43:52to the finish. She won the Kenya Commonwealth Games trials. Seems to

2:43:52 > 2:43:57have found her distance where she doesn't need to find a way to the

2:43:57 > 2:44:06water jump.Second fastest time in the world this year, and it looked

2:44:06 > 2:44:14very good indeed the Chepkoech. -- the Chepkoech. She arrived as the

2:44:14 > 2:44:21world number three and she's gone quicker here by two tenths of a

2:44:21 > 2:44:27second to move herself up the world rankings. A good win in the women's

2:44:27 > 2:44:301500 metres and it really was a battle. Embaye was on her own for

2:44:30 > 2:44:40second place, but you can see Chebet and Cichocka fighting for third

2:44:40 > 2:44:49place and it was Cichocka who finished in third.

2:44:50 > 2:45:00Chepkoech, a Kenyan victory today in the women's 1500.

2:45:02 > 2:45:06This is a look back at what happened in the first round of the long jump

2:45:06 > 2:45:11competition. It has been all about Greg Rutherford so far, but Dan

2:45:11 > 2:45:16Bramble, his team-mate, started the competition nicely indeed. He hit

2:45:16 > 2:45:22the board well. That was 7.84 metres. Five centimetres by end of

2:45:22 > 2:45:29the jump from Rutherford. This is the event leader. He did this in the

2:45:29 > 2:45:34second round. The Jamaican. He uses that speed very well indeed. You can

2:45:34 > 2:45:40see the speed on the approach. He reaches out to 7.99 metres, ahead of

2:45:40 > 2:45:42Rutherford.

2:45:50 > 2:45:53Mariya Lasitskene, the last chance to go over two metres. Too much for

2:45:53 > 2:45:59her today. You almost come to expect it but it was not meant to be, but

2:45:59 > 2:46:06it was a victory for the dominant Russian athlete. Three fouls at two

2:46:06 > 2:46:11metres.

2:46:11 > 2:46:18metres. There is confirmation of the victory.

2:46:26 > 2:46:37The season is best for Morgan Lake. Greg Rutherford. Round three in the

2:46:37 > 2:46:46long jump. Chasing 7.99 metres. That has got to be the wrong side of the

2:46:46 > 2:46:56Pleistocene. Yes, look at that. A Farrell. Another big effort. He is

2:46:56 > 2:46:59attacking it well. I like to see that. We know he is nervous because

2:46:59 > 2:47:03he's coming back from injury, but that is a good show of intention,

2:47:03 > 2:47:10what is going on inside. He is going after this, he wants it.

2:47:10 > 2:47:14He is in second place. A couple of no jumps for Greg Rutherford but the

2:47:14 > 2:47:17distance is looking better than we were expecting on the form that he

2:47:17 > 2:47:22had been building us up to expect. Yes and remarkably he looks great on

2:47:22 > 2:47:26the runway. He is lacking overall speed by the is there or

2:47:26 > 2:47:31thereabouts. He just needs to be on the board. He has a few more jumps

2:47:31 > 2:47:34to give himself confidence in the decision-making process ahead of the

2:47:34 > 2:47:39World Indoor Championships. We are hoping that Andrew Pozzi can shine

2:47:39 > 2:47:43at those championships, just as he did in Belgrade last year. The

2:47:43 > 2:47:47European indoor champion. So many seasons have been disrupted because

2:47:47 > 2:47:51of injury. He finally got a run together last year and should is the

2:47:51 > 2:47:57kind of potential we thought had been there. Colin Jackson speaks

2:47:57 > 2:48:01highly of him, his work ethic and his hurdling ability. He just needs

2:48:01 > 2:48:04to get that break. He missed the finals last year that the World

2:48:04 > 2:48:10Championships. This could be his if he gets it together. The world

2:48:10 > 2:48:14record holder and former Olympic champion Aries Merritt is in this

2:48:14 > 2:48:22one, as is Great Britain's David King as well, and Eaton from the

2:48:22 > 2:48:24United States. Another very strong line-up. A

2:48:24 > 2:48:30straight line up for the final, including some of the best in the

2:48:30 > 2:48:38world. Jarret Eaton, Andrew Pozzi. That is the full line-up. On the

2:48:38 > 2:48:46inside, Riley-La Borde, third at the UK. He was behind Pozzi and King.

2:48:46 > 2:48:52King alongside him. It will be King and Pozzi represent Britain at World

2:48:52 > 2:48:58Indoors. He was second behind Pozzi last week and he has got the

2:48:58 > 2:49:06standards he will be at Birmingham next weekend.

2:49:06 > 2:49:10next weekend. He has run his second quickest time since his all

2:49:10 > 2:49:17conquering year in 2012, Merritt. He is a well liked figure. Pozzi, he

2:49:17 > 2:49:21did win the indoor European title last year but missed out in a place

2:49:21 > 2:49:25in the final of the World Championships. Ronald Levy, we

2:49:25 > 2:49:28thought he in the World Championships last year, but he was

2:49:28 > 2:49:34injured in his heat and the Jamaican went no further. Jarret Eaton, the

2:49:34 > 2:49:41best in the world this year.

2:49:41 > 2:49:42best in the world this year. Among the medals at the last World

2:49:42 > 2:49:50Indoors. Petr Svoboda of the Czech Republic close in lane seven. He got

2:49:50 > 2:49:58the bronze medal last year in doors. And Johnathan Cabral of Canada.

2:50:06 > 2:50:13A line-up that would grace any athletics event, any final. Merritt

2:50:13 > 2:50:19and Pozzi alongside each other, and Levy, the quick Jamaican. Eaton

2:50:19 > 2:50:25insects. Those are the four to look out for.

2:50:30 > 2:50:42-- Eaton in six. The men's 60 metres hurdles here in Glasgow.

2:50:46 > 2:50:53It is a clean start, I did start by David King, by the dips his head.

2:50:53 > 2:50:58Levy is coming well.

2:50:59 > 2:51:03Levy is coming well. Merritt takes a victory. The big story is the man

2:51:03 > 2:51:11trying to an -- trying to untangle himself from the barriers. -- Levy

2:51:11 > 2:51:17takes a victory. There was a gasp in the crowd is Eaton went down. A

2:51:17 > 2:51:21smile and congratulations from Aries Merritt. Levy takes a victory. Pozzi

2:51:21 > 2:51:28could not get there. You can see how well hurdles can be done by Levy,

2:51:28 > 2:51:34and what can go wrong as well.Lies and Levy from the gun. He is

2:51:34 > 2:51:40explosive. He puts on a massive gap on the run is very early. They are

2:51:40 > 2:51:42doing is trying to chase but trying to keep composed. Very scrappy

2:51:42 > 2:51:50behind them. Eaton came out the worst. He smashed into this. He

2:51:50 > 2:51:54staggers to the barrier and tries to take it but there is no way he's

2:51:54 > 2:51:59going to do it. He hates the Dagg very hard. He will be sore for a

2:51:59 > 2:52:03couple of days. Now there is the battle between Andrew Pozzi and

2:52:03 > 2:52:09Aries Merritt. Merritt just leans further than Pozzi for second spot.

2:52:09 > 2:52:14For the winner, it was a strong victory. Comfortable. Setting

2:52:14 > 2:52:17himself up very well for next weekend's World Indoor

2:52:17 > 2:52:23Championships.

2:52:23 > 2:52:26Championships.Well, victory and a victory in your very first indoor

2:52:26 > 2:52:33event.How does it feel?Amazing, it felt good. What do you make of the

2:52:33 > 2:52:41Indo environment, the crowds, the neutral environment?I did not

2:52:41 > 2:52:45expected to be cold.It was really good. What about travelling to

2:52:45 > 2:52:52Scotland?Has that been? From Jamaica, it is long. Andrew, what do

2:52:52 > 2:52:57you make of your performance? It was not a great performance, I got left

2:52:57 > 2:53:01at the start and clattered a couple of hurdles. It is not the race I was

2:53:01 > 2:53:05looking for, but it is the one I got so we will carry on with their

2:53:05 > 2:53:09preparations for Birmingham. It is probably better to make the mistakes

2:53:09 > 2:53:13-- make the mistakes here and have the weaker race. What will you take

2:53:13 > 2:53:16from here to take to Birmingham?I will have to have a look, I am in

2:53:16 > 2:53:21good form but I have missed a few races. It has not slotted into place

2:53:21 > 2:53:24yet but the rains, all being well in Birmingham, I will not make the same

2:53:24 > 2:53:29mistakes.Last year you became European indoor champion. How much

2:53:29 > 2:53:35confidence does that give you? It is good, I am a good 60-metre hurdler

2:53:35 > 2:53:41indoors. I am in -- I am in as good a shape as last year but I have not

2:53:41 > 2:53:46quite fine form in racing yet. That is still to come.Pretty close to

2:53:46 > 2:53:49home as well? Absolutely. I grew up in Stratford-upon-Avon, down the

2:53:49 > 2:53:57road from Birmingham. I cannot wait to compete.

2:53:57 > 2:54:00to compete.Thanks. The victory for Ronald Levy, with the new Glasgow

2:54:00 > 2:54:05record. Ahead of Aries Merritt and Andrew Pozzi just behind in third

2:54:05 > 2:54:10place. Jarret Eaton was the fall, the favourite coming into the race,

2:54:10 > 2:54:17but he fell into the barriers. We see it time and time again, fine

2:54:17 > 2:54:23margins in hurdling. Levy not an indoor specialist, the first time he

2:54:23 > 2:54:27has competed in this environment, but he looked majestic. The Chris

2:54:27 > 2:54:33Lowe. Last year was a breakthrough year frame. We know he has the form,

2:54:33 > 2:54:37the background to have a potentially good World Championships. In the

2:54:37 > 2:54:40middle of that, when you see Andrew Pozzi getting caught up a little and

2:54:40 > 2:54:47chasing, that is where the mistakes creeping.Yes, it is a cliche, you

2:54:47 > 2:54:50have to try and stay in your own lane, but it is difficult to do when

2:54:50 > 2:54:53the person next to you just moves away from you within the first

2:54:53 > 2:55:00couple of metres. It was not a bad start, but he seemed to be

2:55:00 > 2:55:06stretching into that hurdle. From then, he was chasing. His interview

2:55:06 > 2:55:09suggest he was bitterly disappointed but he is not far away from where he

2:55:09 > 2:55:13needs to be. In literally a few days' time he can turn this around.

2:55:13 > 2:55:18It is such a difficult season, to get the peak just right but the

2:55:18 > 2:55:27athletes have to do that. How do the rounds help? You have got to measure

2:55:27 > 2:55:32the rounds so well and gauge performance, but also you do not

2:55:32 > 2:55:37want to make any mistakes and be out. With the rounds, especially in

2:55:37 > 2:55:41hurdles, you have got to still race. You have the same amount of

2:55:41 > 2:55:45barriers, so you have to do what you have to do.It is the same for these

2:55:45 > 2:55:50women next, but on the flat. Dina Asher-Smith will not be there. She's

2:55:50 > 2:55:54heading out to the Gold Coast ahead of the Commonwealth Games. She was

2:55:54 > 2:55:58very impressive in the heats earlier on. She will be looking to take away

2:55:58 > 2:56:03a victory. She will be looking for a good time. Her eyes are on bigger

2:56:03 > 2:56:07prizes. Katharine Merry, take it away. That

2:56:07 > 2:56:09is the question, Dina Asher-Smith in the form of life, going the

2:56:09 > 2:56:15Commonwealth Games. If she wins a big race here, maybe that is a

2:56:15 > 2:56:19decision that she may wish would have been different. This is the

2:56:19 > 2:56:29line-up of familiar names. The final of the women's 60 metres. The

2:56:29 > 2:56:39qualifying has been done. In lane number one, Lansiquot for Great

2:56:39 > 2:56:45Britain and Northern Ireland. In good form this year. She will start

2:56:45 > 2:56:49next to the staff from the Netherlands, Dafne Schippers. She

2:56:49 > 2:56:53showed nothing in qualifying budgies twice the world champion and we know

2:56:53 > 2:57:01what the Dutch women has got. Lane number three, Quanesha Burks of the

2:57:01 > 2:57:09USA. Fourth in the long jump here today. Then a big cheer from the

2:57:09 > 2:57:13Glasgow crowd, Britain's fastest ever woman, Dina Asher-Smith, the

2:57:13 > 2:57:19fastest in qualifying, 7.08 seconds, equalling her lifetime best. She is

2:57:19 > 2:57:30in lane number four. In number five, Ta Lou, the Ivory Coast athlete. A

2:57:30 > 2:57:35double silver medal at the World Indoor athletics Championships. The

2:57:35 > 2:57:39sprinters will have to wait a second because Greg Rutherford has taken to

2:57:39 > 2:57:46the runway for his fourth attempt. He has been pushed into third place.

2:57:46 > 2:57:51Changzhou Huang of China. He has landed awkwardly. It is another

2:57:51 > 2:58:00file. The best for Rutherford so far, getting him in third place. So,

2:58:00 > 2:58:05if file for Greg Rutherford.

2:58:09 > 2:58:12if file for Greg Rutherford. This is Elaine Thompson. The quickest in the

2:58:12 > 2:58:18field over 100 metres. 10.07 seconds. Again, not on fire yet in

2:58:18 > 2:58:24qualifying. In lane number seven, Jamile Samuel of the Netherlands,

2:58:24 > 2:58:31the second Dutch athlete in the field. And completing the line-up,

2:58:31 > 2:58:35Christania Williams of Jamaica. A 100 metres finalist in Rio de

2:58:35 > 2:58:41Janeiro. Five women in this field have run 11 seconds are under in the

2:58:41 > 2:58:44life for the 100 metres.

2:58:50 > 2:58:56Dina Asher-Smith was flying in qualification for this final. But we

2:58:56 > 2:59:00know the form and the class of Ta Lou, Schippers and Thompson. The

2:59:00 > 2:59:04final of the women's 60 metres.

2:59:27 > 2:59:32It is a clean start. Pretty even. Asher-Smith Bidwell. Ta Lou in the

2:59:32 > 2:59:38middle. It is Ta Lou. The double world silver-medallist, Marie Josee

2:59:38 > 2:59:45Ta Lou. A stadium record. That is a lifetime best it confirmed for the

2:59:45 > 2:59:50athlete for the Ivory Coast.

2:59:50 > 2:59:56It was a wonderful race, a pretty even start and it's been given to Ta

2:59:56 > 3:00:03Lo, just by two one hundredths beating Dina Asher-Smith.A good run

3:00:03 > 3:00:06by Dina Asher-Smith, is a final and you are under added pressure.

3:00:06 > 3:00:12Everyone focusing because she ran so well. Backing up her previous time

3:00:12 > 3:00:16of another 7.09 in a world-class field. Let's not forget the talent

3:00:16 > 3:00:20in here. We have world champions and Olympic champions, some of the

3:00:20 > 3:00:25fastest women who have ever graced this planet in this race and Dina

3:00:25 > 3:00:29Asher-Smith is right up there competing with them. For me, to go

3:00:29 > 3:00:33down to Strinic, to continue her trading for the Commonwealth Games,

3:00:33 > 3:00:38no better place to finish right now. Alker blocks, look at her, working

3:00:38 > 3:00:43hard, focused. She knows there is quality all around her. I think she

3:00:43 > 3:00:47appreciates the fact she is truly one of the fastest women on the

3:00:47 > 3:00:51planet. With that in mind, it's given her more confidence to take on

3:00:51 > 3:00:54these type of competition and challenge right at the front. Great

3:00:54 > 3:00:59running. You could see she was aggressive all the way. Boy, oh boy,

3:00:59 > 3:01:06what a future she has.Indeed she has. Look at the start of

3:01:06 > 3:01:10determination from Ta Lo. Thompson came in third in the women's 60

3:01:10 > 3:01:14metres. Dina Asher-Smith almost grabbed victory here in Glasgow but

3:01:14 > 3:01:19I think she will be a bit disappointed with that but it was a

3:01:19 > 3:01:24good run. That was quite a race, what a final, how do you feel?

3:01:24 > 3:01:32Really pleased, I didn't expect to do that time. It is OK for me. Most

3:01:32 > 3:01:35important is World Championships. I will be training for that.

3:01:35 > 3:01:36important is World Championships. I will be training for that.Dina, you

3:01:36 > 3:01:40are laughing right now so you must be happy with your performance?Very

3:01:40 > 3:01:45happy. I knew I was in good shape coming into this performance. I did

3:01:45 > 3:01:49want a little faster than that time. When we looked at the clock we were

3:01:49 > 3:01:55like, yes, sometimes it doesn't work like that. Still a good performance.

3:01:55 > 3:01:59World Championship you have your eye on. How important has it been

3:01:59 > 3:02:04getting here, being in the UK and getting the victory ahead of it?

3:02:04 > 3:02:07Only one week before the World Championship so it is important to

3:02:07 > 3:02:13look how I'm feeling and what is my time. Training before the World

3:02:13 > 3:02:17Championship, and I hope to be in the top three for the championship.

3:02:17 > 3:02:24I didn't try to have a medal but I think 60 metres is good for me now.

3:02:24 > 3:02:28Dina, this is about preparing for the Commonwealth Games?Yes, I have

3:02:28 > 3:02:32the Commonwealth Games at the beginning of April. I am off to

3:02:32 > 3:02:40Sydney next week to finish my preparations, doing 100- 200s. Good

3:02:40 > 3:02:43luck to you. I'm really excited. Definitely going to be watching.

3:02:43 > 3:02:47Thank you for talking to me and putting on such a show!

3:02:49 > 3:02:49They

3:02:49 > 3:02:54They did put on a show, a super final sprint event. Schippers on

3:02:54 > 3:03:02right finished fifth in the end. 7.2 two. The battle was in the middle

3:03:02 > 3:03:05lanes, Asher-Smith, world-class, major championship finals. But Ta Lo

3:03:05 > 3:03:11grabbed the victory here. That will be an event on fire next week, one

3:03:11 > 3:03:15of many events on fire next week at the world indoor Championships. The

3:03:15 > 3:03:24fastest woman in Glasgow, Ta Lo, a stadium record of 7.07 seconds.

3:03:26 > 3:03:32Here to bring you up to speed with some of the jumps that preceded Greg

3:03:32 > 3:03:41Rutherford's fourth attempt, Huang of China. A bronze-medallist a few

3:03:41 > 3:03:46years ago in the indoors. It was a big effort in that fourth round, his

3:03:46 > 3:03:52best so far. He had 7.83 in the first round before this fourth

3:03:52 > 3:04:00attempt. Just two jumps remaining, remember. Huang, that sleep was

3:04:00 > 3:04:05measured at 7.99, so exactly the same distance as Damar Forbes of

3:04:05 > 3:04:10Jamaica. So that would push Rutherford down into third place.

3:04:10 > 3:04:17Now Dan Bramble. Having a good afternoon. 7.84 opener. Got closer

3:04:17 > 3:04:24to eight metres, because that was 7.8 eight. Just one centimetre

3:04:24 > 3:04:31behind Rutherford. What is it? 11 certain to beaters separating four

3:04:31 > 3:04:37athletes, two of them British. Forbes,, Rutherford and Dan Bramble

3:04:37 > 3:04:43in that order. Two jumps remaining for the Rutherford has chosen to

3:04:43 > 3:04:48pass the fifth round. See what he has for the final jump... Bramble

3:04:48 > 3:04:51also looking good, season's does.

3:04:54 > 3:04:56STUDIO:

3:04:56 > 3:05:00STUDIO: The women's 60 metres final, what was interesting was the body

3:05:00 > 3:05:03language, Dina Asher-Smith, when she crossed the line until the time you

3:05:03 > 3:05:08could see she looked disappointed in the time and that she perhaps had

3:05:08 > 3:05:12been pipped on the line. She is always happy to chat afterwards but

3:05:12 > 3:05:16I think on reflection she thought there was a bit more there in her

3:05:16 > 3:05:23performance.I think that is fair to say but she has to remember that Ta

3:05:23 > 3:05:26Lou has specifically prepared for the indoor season to get to this

3:05:26 > 3:05:34stage. Dina is raced sparingly in preparation for her Commonwealth

3:05:34 > 3:05:37Games. Two athletes at different stages but I think that was a really

3:05:37 > 3:05:43good run. Great runs back to back from Dina. She says she will head

3:05:43 > 3:05:46out to Australia next week in preparation for the Commonwealth

3:05:46 > 3:05:50Games. She really is targeting that as a championship where she can make

3:05:50 > 3:05:57her mark on the global stage. What will she do in the interim? Will she

3:05:57 > 3:06:02keep training? There will be a circuit in Austria for her to race

3:06:02 > 3:06:06on?Yes, she will be training hard, getting sharper and sharper. She

3:06:06 > 3:06:10will also be doing some competitions to test herself over the longer

3:06:10 > 3:06:15distance. There will be a lot to do, acclimatisation a big part of that

3:06:15 > 3:06:21preparation as well, preparation camp. She will be getting herself in

3:06:21 > 3:06:27the zone. Her sprinting, that is one event she is almost world-class with

3:06:27 > 3:06:30the Caribbean athletes also present at the Commonwealth Games. She has

3:06:30 > 3:06:36her work cut out.But it would be, if she can get herself on top out

3:06:36 > 3:06:40there, so important for her. We spoke earlier by the men's 4x100 and

3:06:40 > 3:06:44now they have they believe they can cut it with the best in the world.

3:06:44 > 3:06:49For incremental steps, pushing her, yourself onto the roster and mixing

3:06:49 > 3:06:52with the best in the world. She has been a phenomenal junior athlete.

3:06:52 > 3:06:57She is used to winning medals. Yes, she has that relay medal but it is

3:06:57 > 3:07:02so important, the medals, fast times are great but at the end of your

3:07:02 > 3:07:04career you want to look back and see what you have in terms of

3:07:04 > 3:07:09silverware. She will be looking to get that. This is her first full

3:07:09 > 3:07:13season as a full-time athlete. She graduated last year and now she is

3:07:13 > 3:07:17focusing 100% on her athletics. That transition period is always tough.

3:07:17 > 3:07:21It sounds like the promised land, but it is learning how to balance

3:07:21 > 3:07:30your time. What do you do in your downtime? All that stuff is new.It

3:07:30 > 3:07:35all comes into play. Not showing too much but getting enough out of the

3:07:35 > 3:07:39training that you need. Dina will still be reading a book somewhere,

3:07:39 > 3:07:43knowing her! It's about a professional attitude to her

3:07:43 > 3:07:48training.One man who has been doing that for a very long time is Kim

3:07:48 > 3:07:52Collins, 41 years old. One of the first athletes being introduced to

3:07:52 > 3:07:57the crowd now for the men's 60-metre final. Andrew, you might razzmatazz,

3:07:57 > 3:07:59you can take

3:07:59 > 3:08:02final. Andrew, you might razzmatazz, you can take this one. COMMENTATOR:

3:08:02 > 3:08:08A bit of razzmatazz. Kim Collins has had his introduction. Adam Gemili.

3:08:08 > 3:08:15Go on Adam! Straight through to the final. The fastest was. This is

3:08:15 > 3:08:23Bryce Robinson, fourth at the US championship with 6.51. The four

3:08:23 > 3:08:31Britons in this final, Ujah with a point to prove. Not selected for the

3:08:31 > 3:08:37Gold Coast. He will be out for the scalp of Ujah and other Britons.

3:08:37 > 3:08:45Mike Rodgers. Vying for the tour title, the next two athletes. Mike

3:08:45 > 3:08:49Rodgers looking for that title which will bring him selection for the

3:08:49 > 3:08:54world indoors. Su will be there anyway. Every inch the build and

3:08:54 > 3:09:01style of an indoor specialist. Unbeaten this year. Ujah, I said he

3:09:01 > 3:09:04sat on his blocks a bit in the heat, needs to get out quickly in the

3:09:04 > 3:09:13final. The UK champion has 6.53 this season. Reece Prescod will be the

3:09:13 > 3:09:18final man introduced to the Glasgow arena. The UK title over 100 metres

3:09:18 > 3:09:23last year. Made the World Championship final. A tall figure

3:09:23 > 3:09:29enters the arena. And we will prepare ourselves for the final of

3:09:29 > 3:09:34the men's 60 metres and in the meantime head back to the field. The

3:09:34 > 3:09:40sprinters are all in but

3:09:41 > 3:09:47sprinters are all in but it is Shi on the runway. He has improved

3:09:47 > 3:09:56through the competition. Shi goes big. What is this? No one so far

3:09:56 > 3:10:03beyond eight metres. Shi... Struggled looking across to gauge

3:10:03 > 3:10:07how long these jumps up, I have over egged them slightly so far but I

3:10:07 > 3:10:16think that looks in excess of eight metres. He has seen his team-mate

3:10:16 > 3:10:20Huang jumped 7.8 nine. Two athletes on that same distance. Shi, 19 years

3:10:20 > 3:10:26of age has gone into first place. A season's does. Look at that, where

3:10:26 > 3:10:31did that come from? 8.13 in the last round. Is it good enough for the win

3:10:31 > 3:10:34question let's see.Maybe a Chinese victory in the long jump and it may

3:10:34 > 3:10:39be in the men's 60 metres as well because Su, who goes in lame sixes

3:10:39 > 3:10:44unbeaten this season. But Mike Rodgers will pressurise him from

3:10:44 > 3:10:50lane five. That is how they line up. The final of the men's 60 metres.

3:10:50 > 3:10:56Away they go, clean, good start by Robinson. Su is surely going to take

3:10:56 > 3:11:02this, he does. Another victory for Su ahead of Rogers, who cannot take

3:11:02 > 3:11:09the overall title and will not go to the world indoors. Su is imperious

3:11:09 > 3:11:12and unbeatable over the 60-metre distance this season. He may well be

3:11:12 > 3:11:18a threat in Birmingham to Christian Coleman, because he is a wonderful

3:11:18 > 3:11:21indoor specialist. He is so powerful, so explosive and so quick

3:11:21 > 3:11:27out of the blocks and Rogers simply couldn't get there. He really,

3:11:27 > 3:11:30really pay systems. That's what's remarkable about him. He leaves the

3:11:30 > 3:11:33best until the very end when it really matters, these big finals.

3:11:33 > 3:11:38Each time I have seen him run during the indoor season, he has just

3:11:38 > 3:11:43qualified with a quick time but only reasonably fast. Come the final,

3:11:43 > 3:11:46like today, it explodes out of the blocks. Works hard for those first

3:11:46 > 3:11:53ten metres, gets himself to that really fast pace he has and he just

3:11:53 > 3:11:57-- just means nobody can get close to him. Switching off as he gets to

3:11:57 > 3:12:00the back end that race. Everyone else waiting to see what happens.

3:12:00 > 3:12:06Let's look again. Already, away, taken the lead. No one is really

3:12:06 > 3:12:09pressuring him. Everyone going tight behind him. When you are as

3:12:09 > 3:12:13comfortable and competent as he is with his 60 metres running, it's

3:12:13 > 3:12:17difficult for anyone to get close to him in the world. From that point

3:12:17 > 3:12:28on, 60 metres to 100, others would come back. A good 100-metre runner

3:12:28 > 3:12:31but not one of the world's best but over 60 metres he is a match for

3:12:31 > 3:12:34anyone. Christian Coleman running extraordinary times but he runs

3:12:34 > 3:12:36consistently, Su.This is the biggest advantage he has had. He has

3:12:36 > 3:12:39raced so much on the circuit. As his opponent so well. I am excited about

3:12:39 > 3:12:44that 60-metre race next weekend.

3:12:44 > 3:12:45opponent so well. I am excited about that 60-metre race next weekend.A

3:12:45 > 3:12:52personal best, how you feeling?I am OK. It is nice, out and equal your

3:12:52 > 3:12:55PB but technically, not the best. That's what these meetings are for,

3:12:55 > 3:12:58learning and making mistakes when you get to the championships, there

3:12:58 > 3:13:02are no mistakes. I am happy. I will take it through for my preparation

3:13:02 > 3:13:05for the Commonwealth Games.Looking forward to it. What about yourself,

3:13:05 > 3:13:11how you feeling? Not too bad. Still recovering from last weekend but

3:13:11 > 3:13:14nevertheless, 57, I will take it, recover and get ready for the world

3:13:14 > 3:13:21indoors.That is a big thing, what are you taking away from today?I

3:13:21 > 3:13:25need to react, man. From 30 yards on 60 on doing all right but the first

3:13:25 > 3:13:29bit, I'm not moving. What about yourself, not world indoor view but

3:13:29 > 3:13:34commonwealths you are aiming for, a little bit of time?Yes, my second

3:13:34 > 3:13:40indoor race, I'm not my busier but I have to use this race to get ready

3:13:40 > 3:13:44for the Commonwealth Games. Looking forward to it. Build the start,

3:13:44 > 3:13:49that's where I'm losing a lot of time. Still got a lot of work to do.

3:13:49 > 3:13:52I will go back to the drawing board and do that.Brilliant, well done

3:13:52 > 3:13:56guys, great watch and great to see British sprinting going the way it

3:13:56 > 3:14:04is.Cheers!But they had to give second best to Edoburun.

3:14:04 > 3:14:07is.Cheers!But they had to give second best to Edoburun. He had

3:14:07 > 3:14:14fooled place behind Su, Rogers and Bryce Robinson. Su takes the overall

3:14:14 > 3:14:16indoor title.

3:14:19 > 3:14:24This is how it happened. You can see the power of Su once again. The

3:14:24 > 3:14:29build with him and Rogers, short men but powerful sprinters. CJ talked

3:14:29 > 3:14:34about his start and leaving a bit too much to do. Prescod, his

3:14:34 > 3:14:37strength lies in the longer distances outdoors. Consistent

3:14:37 > 3:14:41running by the British athletes but a little behind the world's

3:14:41 > 3:14:46favourites of Su and Rogers. Last round, last jump for Dan

3:14:46 > 3:14:55Bramble. He is in fifth place, as you can see. He has jumped very well

3:14:55 > 3:14:59so far. Bramble, last chance to take more scalps. Not to be.

3:15:03 > 3:15:09He just ran out of steam. But here's got to be pleased with his

3:15:09 > 3:15:16performance this afternoon. 7.84 metres opener. Over striding, the

3:15:16 > 3:15:22cardinal sin of decelerating. That is not what he would have wanted. A

3:15:22 > 3:15:28decent jump. 7.88 metres is best in the fourth round, one centimetre

3:15:28 > 3:15:35behind Greg Rutherford. Bramble, Shaftesbury Harrier, has jumped over

3:15:35 > 3:15:43eight metres in the past, both indoors and outdoors. A good series.

3:15:43 > 3:15:48Let's go with that. His indoor season is progressing. Rutherford,

3:15:48 > 3:15:56looking very purposeful indeed. He skipped round five. His last chance

3:15:56 > 3:16:02to improve his position. He is in fourth place. It is flat, and it is

3:16:02 > 3:16:06not long enough. He did not get the height. He knows it. Appreciating

3:16:06 > 3:16:15the support. A massive jump from Yuhao Shi of China. 8.13 metres.

3:16:15 > 3:16:19Massive in the context of today at least. Rutherford looks like he will

3:16:19 > 3:16:24have to settle for a best of 7.89 metres. I do not think he will

3:16:24 > 3:16:31improve on that distance. He is behind Changzhou Huang of China in

3:16:31 > 3:16:39third place, and Yuhao Shi of China, and dom artforms of Jamaica. So,

3:16:39 > 3:16:41Rutherford not in the position we have grown accustomed to seeing him

3:16:41 > 3:16:49in, dominating in the past. But his work is done. 7.81 metres in the

3:16:49 > 3:16:54last round, fourth place for Rutherford. As we turn our attention

3:16:54 > 3:16:59to demand for this. He looks as though he has popped his car. That

3:16:59 > 3:17:10is nasty. -- his calf. That is a shame, he was jumping pretty well.

3:17:10 > 3:17:14He had his lead taken away from him a few moments ago. Insult to injury,

3:17:14 > 3:17:21literally. The more Forbes' afternoon ends in disappointment.

3:17:21 > 3:17:27That is our sole wrapped up. Yuhao Shi, right in the last phase. Look

3:17:27 > 3:17:32at this, rate as he was driving out. He would not have seen that coming,

3:17:32 > 3:17:38the sniper got him from the back of the stand. There is a winner, 19

3:17:38 > 3:17:44years of age, Yuhao Shi, 8.13 metres. He takes a good victory in

3:17:44 > 3:17:50Glasgow. So, the final track event of the

3:17:50 > 3:17:54afternoon is arranged as such because of strong Scottish

3:17:54 > 3:17:57involvement in the women's 800 metres, not just with Lynsey Sharp

3:17:57 > 3:18:01but Mhairi Hendry ran well in the UK Championships. There is little

3:18:01 > 3:18:06line-up.

3:18:06 > 3:18:13line-up. -- there is the film line-up.

3:18:17 > 3:18:21Ayala from Spain is the pacemaker. Looking to take them through 400

3:18:21 > 3:18:28metres in 59 seconds. It will be interesting to see who will go with

3:18:28 > 3:18:35that. A few in this line-up like to place their own races. Halova, from

3:18:35 > 3:18:40Latvia.

3:18:42 > 3:18:46Latvia. Mhairi Hendry, one-time athlete, from just outside Glasgow.

3:18:46 > 3:18:58-- a hometown athlete. Adelle Tracey shares

3:19:02 > 3:19:06shares lane four with Danaid Prinsen of the Netherlands. Just 22 years

3:19:06 > 3:19:08old, new personal best this season.

3:19:13 > 3:19:22A very warm welcome to Lynsey Sharp who's been watched by her training

3:19:22 > 3:19:26partner and life partner, Andy Butcher. He is injured, sadly.

3:19:26 > 3:19:29Lynsey Sharp struggling with that news, finding it very difficult.

3:19:29 > 3:19:37Katerina Halova of the Czech Republic, alongside

3:19:37 > 3:19:43Wolters-Verstegen of the Netherlands. Romero of Spain on the

3:19:43 > 3:19:47inside. Andrew Bridge is you're watching Lynsey Sharp. I have not

3:19:47 > 3:19:51been able to see him. He suffered that injury in New York at the start

3:19:51 > 3:19:55of the month. Sharp was talking about how difficult it was to go out

3:19:55 > 3:20:00on training runs, leaving him behind in his protective boot. The women's

3:20:00 > 3:20:07800 metres under way, the final event in the track in Glasgow. Sharp

3:20:07 > 3:20:12likes to run from the front, but the pacemaker from Spain, Ayala, round

3:20:12 > 3:20:17the outside, looking for 59 seconds. Adelle Tracey settling into third in

3:20:17 > 3:20:21the race behind the pacemaker in front. She went out to five UK

3:20:21 > 3:20:27chance last week.

3:20:27 > 3:20:29chance last week. Hendry ran really well there last week and she will be

3:20:29 > 3:20:35looking to build on that performance today.Velvere effectively the

3:20:35 > 3:20:40leader binder pacemaker, just a paces clear. Then Wolters-Verstegen

3:20:40 > 3:20:45of the Netherlands and Adelle Tracey, who is ahead of Lynsey Sharp

3:20:45 > 3:20:48and Mhairi Hendry, the strong figure on the outside who would love to

3:20:48 > 3:20:54take the scalp of her fellow Scot, Lynsey Sharp. They have all come to

3:20:54 > 3:20:59see Sharp and expect her to feature strongly but Hendry is in good form.

3:20:59 > 3:21:03She has been raising personal best after personal best. She is tracking

3:21:03 > 3:21:09Sharp. Sharp is a confidence runner and that confidence has been not so

3:21:09 > 3:21:14far this winter, particularly with the injury to Andrew. She will be

3:21:14 > 3:21:17well supported by the crowd and she will want to set herself up well for

3:21:17 > 3:21:25the Commonwealth Games.Velvere begins to fade, the Latvian athlete.

3:21:25 > 3:21:30Adelle Tracey hits the front but it is a long way home. Hendry a couple

3:21:30 > 3:21:34of paces back. Wolters-Verstegen looking strong. It is Tracey ahead

3:21:34 > 3:21:42of Sharp. Lynsey Sharp is shadowing. Velvere has something left, she

3:21:42 > 3:21:46hates the front. Lynsey Sharp has to respond. Hendry trying to find

3:21:46 > 3:21:53something further back. Velvere stretching clear. I am not sure

3:21:53 > 3:22:00Lynsey Sharp can get there. Velvere look strong. Sharp grits teeth in

3:22:00 > 3:22:05digs in but it will be the victor of Velvere, Lynsey Sharp in second

3:22:05 > 3:22:09place, and Danaid Prinsen in third. Lynsey Sharp did not give the crowd

3:22:09 > 3:22:15the Scottish victory to end the day, but a great run from Liga Velvere,

3:22:15 > 3:22:18and we thought it looked like she was beginning to fade when Adelle

3:22:18 > 3:22:23Tracey when Pastor, but she had more to give in the race. What a run from

3:22:23 > 3:22:29Velvere and Lynsey Sharp second in Glasgow.Velvere judge did very

3:22:29 > 3:22:33well. Adelle Tracey ran slightly wide around the next Lars Bender and

3:22:33 > 3:22:39left the door open. Velvere seize the opportunity and came through. We

3:22:39 > 3:22:43can see them approaching the bell. Adelle Tracey has made her move.

3:22:43 > 3:22:48Around the bend she is on the top of line on and she leaves the space on

3:22:48 > 3:22:53the inside and Velvere grabs the opportunity. Lynsey Sharp has to go

3:22:53 > 3:22:56wide and higher. She's starting to lean back a little and her

3:22:56 > 3:23:06shoulders. She's starting to tighten up. Prinsen is coming from behind,

3:23:06 > 3:23:09moving the fastest, making up ground on Lynsey Sharp. She runs out of

3:23:09 > 3:23:15track. Sharp was strong but she needs to believe in herself more.

3:23:15 > 3:23:19Velvere judge did really well and judged the dash and took the

3:23:19 > 3:23:24opportunity when it was presented to an undeserved victory. It was a good

3:23:24 > 3:23:29run from Velvere, she has run a new national record by 0.2 seconds.

3:23:29 > 3:23:36Lynsey Sharp in second place and she is talking to JJ.

3:23:36 > 3:23:41Second place. Are you feeling? I would love to have got the victor in

3:23:41 > 3:23:45such -- in front of such a great crowd, but I did not get it right.

3:23:45 > 3:23:49You say such a great crowd, your training in San Diego, but this is

3:23:49 > 3:23:53home for you. What is it like to be able to compete your?I do not get

3:23:53 > 3:23:57the chance to compete in Scotland very often so I am disappointed I

3:23:57 > 3:24:01could not get the victory, but it meant so much to come back and

3:24:01 > 3:24:05compete. We have travelled a long way from San Diego today. It was

3:24:05 > 3:24:09worth it. This is your preparation for the Commonwealth Games. You're

3:24:09 > 3:24:14keen to step up from that silver medal? For sure. It is each race I

3:24:14 > 3:24:18can get in before the commonwealths, it is not about indoors, just about

3:24:18 > 3:24:23race is under way the Gold Coast. Thankfully I can get an outdoor

3:24:23 > 3:24:30track now. That is the last indoors on. Thank you. Thank you.

3:24:30 > 3:24:33Disappointment from Lynsey Sharp but what to run it was from Liga

3:24:33 > 3:24:40Velvere. To take a victory with a national record, she used to be a

3:24:40 > 3:24:45400-metre hurdler. We talk about the strength those hurdlers have in the

3:24:45 > 3:24:49closing stages. She sure that they are very good victory, the biggest

3:24:49 > 3:24:53of her career. Confirmation of it with the Latvian national record.

3:25:07 > 3:25:11And this is the final result of the long jump competition. It was a good

3:25:11 > 3:25:17last line for Yuhao Shi China, as season's best. Greg Rutherford in

3:25:17 > 3:25:20fourth place, but I think he jumped a little better than that distance

3:25:20 > 3:25:27suggests. He had some decent fouls and looks in decent shape to me. So

3:25:27 > 3:25:28a victory for Yuhao Shi.

3:25:32 > 3:25:37As we've seen from the results, it was fourth, 7.89 metres your best

3:25:37 > 3:25:42for the day.Are you feeling? Quite tired. After the nationals last week

3:25:42 > 3:25:46and found I was taking a long time to recover. I came here with the

3:25:46 > 3:25:51game plan that if I go get over eight metres I would be close to

3:25:51 > 3:25:54where I to be. That has not happened today but there were a few positives

3:25:54 > 3:25:59for sure. I am the moment, I am a speed base jumper, I am not quite

3:25:59 > 3:26:03there. I am probably six-week Spain from the surgery but I felt quicker

3:26:03 > 3:26:09today. My run-up started moving back which is a positive which means and

3:26:09 > 3:26:14getting quicker again. Week by week, it is getting better, but in five

3:26:14 > 3:26:17days' time it is meant to be the World Championships. Today was going

3:26:17 > 3:26:22to be a decider for whether or not I'd definitely go. We will have to

3:26:22 > 3:26:26debrief. I am teetering on the edge. I am there to try and win medals,

3:26:26 > 3:26:30not make up the numbers. I need to make sure I will be in with a chance

3:26:30 > 3:26:34of that happening.Thank you for speaking tours.We really hope to

3:26:34 > 3:26:39see you at the worlds.I appreciate that, thank you. Greg Rutherford not

3:26:39 > 3:26:44committing one were another as to what today is done to make his mind

3:26:44 > 3:26:48up about the World Championships. He thought eight metres would be the

3:26:48 > 3:26:52mark that would have swung it for him.Do you think we will see him in

3:26:52 > 3:26:55Birmingham? I think so. I think he's a little more confident every time

3:26:55 > 3:27:00he competes. The only worry I have is when he says he is struggling to

3:27:00 > 3:27:03recover after events. When you're struggling to recover it makes it

3:27:03 > 3:27:07more difficult.Would you go along with that? I think it is fair to

3:27:07 > 3:27:12say. He has to listen to his body. His body has been fried gel but it

3:27:12 > 3:27:18appears confident, he has got to go for it. He said that he is here for

3:27:18 > 3:27:22the medals, not to make up the numbers. He has done everything in

3:27:22 > 3:27:27his career, he is not going to make up the numbers. A mixed bag from a

3:27:27 > 3:27:32British perspective but there was one that stood out for you for the

3:27:32 > 3:27:36performance of the day.It was definitely Tom Bosworth. He was

3:27:36 > 3:27:40fantastic. We do now get to see enough walking. He is leading the

3:27:40 > 3:27:45way, world record and look at that face, it says it all.It is about

3:27:45 > 3:27:48the Commonwealth Games for him, heading out to Australia and getting

3:27:48 > 3:27:53among the medals at the Commonwealth Games, to try and deliver

3:27:53 > 3:27:56disappointment he suffered last year in London. For the other British

3:27:56 > 3:27:59athletes today, who will be pleased with their performance and who will

3:27:59 > 3:28:04be feeling they are not worthy they want to be quite right now?I think

3:28:04 > 3:28:07Dina Asher-Smith should be pleased with her performance. When you're in

3:28:07 > 3:28:11the best shape of your life it is difficult to produce personal bests

3:28:11 > 3:28:15all the time. She needs to race to get under the seven second barrier.

3:28:15 > 3:28:21I think she's capable of that but when you're coming off one-off hits,

3:28:21 > 3:28:24you should not be disappointed with your performance. Her time was

3:28:24 > 3:28:29great.Andrew King run a lot better than he ran today. We're going to

3:28:29 > 3:28:34see in Birmingham at the World Indoor Championships. We're not

3:28:34 > 3:28:39going to see all the athletes we saw here. Lynsey Sharp will not run in

3:28:39 > 3:28:43Birmingham. Shady British athletes be confident of getting medals in

3:28:43 > 3:28:48Birmingham?You have got to. It does not matter what the performances are

3:28:48 > 3:28:51going into those championships, you have to raise your game in the day.

3:28:51 > 3:28:54There will be a great atmosphere in Birmingham. They've got to be

3:28:54 > 3:28:59hopeful.We're expecting packed crowds. Absolutely, we are talking

3:28:59 > 3:29:04about Birmingham.Denise lose's hometown. She will be telling us

3:29:04 > 3:29:08where to go and eat and drink in the evenings. We will be there, Colin,

3:29:08 > 3:29:14you will be there as well, today was her -- for the day, this was about

3:29:14 > 3:29:19the Commonwealth Games but we will be at the World Indoor Championships

3:29:19 > 3:29:22in Birmingham on Thursday. You can see every minute on the BBC and we

3:29:22 > 3:29:25hope that you will join us.

3:29:32 > 3:29:35A world best time by Tom Bosworth. He has it.
