:00:12. > :00:17.Regretfully a young rider from Bolton, 20-year-old Malachi
:00:18. > :00:21.Mitchell-Thomas lost his life in Saturday's racing at the North West
:00:22. > :00:29.200. He was one of the rising stars of the sport. His family has
:00:30. > :00:30.expressed a wish that we continue with our highlights show this
:00:31. > :01:19.evening. The beautiful North Coast of
:01:20. > :01:23.Northern Ireland boasts some stunning scenery. It's home to
:01:24. > :01:32.well-known tourist attractions like the Giants Causeway, the character
:01:33. > :01:36.read Rob Ridge and mustn't Temple. The golf Open Championship will be
:01:37. > :01:45.played at Royal Portrush in a few years time but every me, this area
:01:46. > :01:52.is famous for one thing. Bikes! Welcome to our third highlights
:01:53. > :01:56.programme from this year's Boxall International Northwest to Hundred.
:01:57. > :02:03.Here is what is coming up tonight. Lots more high-speed action in the
:02:04. > :02:13.Superbike class. And also the Supertwins. We catch up with a
:02:14. > :02:20.former world champion, returning to the scene of his north-west victory.
:02:21. > :02:21.And road racing legend John McGuinness picks up one of
:02:22. > :02:36.motorsport's highest honours. So far we have had some breathtaking
:02:37. > :03:04.racing. Records broken, at the Northwest.
:03:05. > :03:51.This specially designed helmet belonging to Alistair Seeley, in
:03:52. > :03:55.pole position for the Superbikes. Is he the favourite? We have to say his
:03:56. > :03:59.favourite, he's now the biggest winner at the Northwest 200, but
:04:00. > :04:05.this is the daddy, the big race of the day, Superbikes, the ultimate
:04:06. > :04:10.bike that you can ride. The wind is behind them, speeds of at least 205
:04:11. > :04:16.miles an hour wind towards Coleraine. One man who wants this is
:04:17. > :04:20.Michael Dunlop, showing form in the last Superstock race, he will be
:04:21. > :04:29.forced to be reckoned with. We cannot wait.
:04:30. > :04:42.COMMENTATOR:, third race of the day. Michael Rutter, number eight. This
:04:43. > :04:45.is the big one. Seven laps. 220, 230 brake horsepower. Alistair Seeley
:04:46. > :04:51.climbing on top of the bike. There is the grid.
:04:52. > :05:01.What a front row. Not a bad second row. That could be good on the Tyco
:05:02. > :05:04.PM W. Gary Johnson... John McGinn is...
:05:05. > :05:13.That is some grid. They have had to put bigger fuel tanks on these
:05:14. > :05:18.bikes. They used to be able to come in and fill up with fuel. A lot of
:05:19. > :05:24.them had to fit a full 24 litre tank. Who will put that to best use?
:05:25. > :05:32.Michael Dunlop's camera facing rear words. He wants this so badly. Bruce
:05:33. > :05:38.Anstey hasn't yet got his podium finish. Look how far back he is
:05:39. > :05:45.starting. Way back on the four. Watch the lights.
:05:46. > :05:53.This first Superbike race of the weekend gets under way. Michael
:05:54. > :05:57.Rutter hanging it into Turn 1. Bruce Anstey from row four.
:05:58. > :06:05.Trying to fight his way. Bruce Anstey, not a good qualifier but we
:06:06. > :06:10.know how fast he is. The Honda, they have got that singing. Alistair
:06:11. > :06:13.Seeley in second. Lee Johnston in fourth. On board with Alistair
:06:14. > :06:22.Seeley, going back into third. Up towards the Mill Road Roundabout.
:06:23. > :06:32.Alistair Seeley, we know he is not fazed by a slow start but he did not
:06:33. > :06:39.want that. Wiley... It is Ben Wiley! No, no, that was bad. He hit the
:06:40. > :06:45.back... I cannot see, but he lost ground. There we go... Hickman, a
:06:46. > :06:52.really good start. John McGuinness, lapping faster. Bruce getting very
:06:53. > :06:59.racy off the grid. Looking for the inside. Down towards the corner.
:07:00. > :07:05.Back in real time... Look at this. Impressive stuff. Wriggling and
:07:06. > :07:13.weaving. All trying to squeeze through. Last orders at week's bark.
:07:14. > :07:17.Three bikes on the same side of the road, really tight. Rutter...
:07:18. > :07:24.Shoulder to shoulder with Alistair Seeley. Round the outside... Has he
:07:25. > :07:31.over done? The backbreaker on, everything on. Rutter going wide,
:07:32. > :07:35.losing a load of ground. All going on. We are on board with Bruce
:07:36. > :07:41.Anstey. He is right there with Michael Dunlop. Good for him. I
:07:42. > :07:44.think Michael Rutter had to set up to get out of the way. They were
:07:45. > :07:52.right in the mix, going for the corner. After all we said about this
:07:53. > :07:56.man taking it easy! He was not. Alistair Seeley, you can see from
:07:57. > :08:01.the helicopter, how far back he was. The Honda is singing. Gone through
:08:02. > :08:07.this speed trap at 209 miles an hour. That is the fastest we have
:08:08. > :08:13.ever seen. That was Bruce Anstey. This man at the front, Ian
:08:14. > :08:16.Hutchinson. Making his way to the front. I am not looking, I would
:08:17. > :08:26.prefer to be down here. This is much safer. Those boys are on it at the
:08:27. > :08:30.front. It has been a long time since we had a dry, sunny track to raise
:08:31. > :08:37.Superbikes on the Northwest 200. They are enjoying this outing. Gary
:08:38. > :08:39.Johnson, in second place, done a good job to get up to there. The
:08:40. > :08:49.number seven bike. Still close together as they go down
:08:50. > :08:54.towards the Metropole. Hopping in and out of the slipstream. I cannot
:08:55. > :09:03.imagine how Bruce Anstey got there. He passed about six people. Here he
:09:04. > :09:05.is again, Michael Dunlop. He has gone, no comment he hasn't,
:09:06. > :09:20.stillbirth. Dunlop easing him out. Through church corner, 210 miles an
:09:21. > :09:25.hour. We thought maybe it was a mistake, but there is no mistake
:09:26. > :09:28.today. We saw how far Bruce Anstey was and how fast he was. Some
:09:29. > :09:36.problems in qualifying but buying on it. Ever since he arrived, he has
:09:37. > :09:39.always had a podium. Riding for one now and they are racing over the
:09:40. > :09:45.coast road. This is, shoulder to shoulder. That is really close,
:09:46. > :09:53.Hutchinson leading, he would like to make it more than one win.
:09:54. > :10:02.Clive Paget is not going to believe that. Coming through in second,
:10:03. > :10:11.Bruce, at the end of Lap 1. Extraordinary. The Hawk
:10:12. > :10:13.Bruce, at the end of Lap 1. Michael Dunlop is our chauffeur.
:10:14. > :10:18.Hutchinson it is, they are also close. Going over the line, John
:10:19. > :10:23.McGinn is at the tail end of what is still a fairly long train for the
:10:24. > :10:28.leading group. Gary Johnston going well, credit for that, Lee Johnston,
:10:29. > :10:34.on the Superbike, he is hurting but he is ignoring it. Alistair
:10:35. > :10:42.Seeley... Got some work to do. Hasn't he? My goodness, that was
:10:43. > :10:52.Peter Hickman, he has missed a corner! And he lost a place as a
:10:53. > :10:57.result. But he is back on it, straight away. Michael Rutter
:10:58. > :11:05.benefited. Gary Johnson nipping past Bruce Anstey. We are with Bruce
:11:06. > :11:09.Anstey. Back to third. He was fastest here, interesting to see
:11:10. > :11:15.what happens. Down towards Station Corner, there is the helicopter. Has
:11:16. > :11:23.to get a bit of a lead to stay with these guys. It has to start the run
:11:24. > :11:32.from in a dive to Univeristy Corner, to keep up. You can see why far back
:11:33. > :11:39.Alistair Seeley is. Coming up towards Univeristy Corner... Losing
:11:40. > :11:45.somewhat time. Empty road in front. Michael Dunlop trying to squeeze
:11:46. > :11:52.down the inside. I think he has done that, or has he? Side-by-side with
:11:53. > :11:55.Lee Johnston. Hutchinson, Johnston, Bruce Anstey. On board in third
:11:56. > :12:04.place. Over the link road towards Ballysally Roundabout. Clive Paget,
:12:05. > :12:09.he is a genius with an engine and a motorcycle all-star the Honda team
:12:10. > :12:16.including John McGinn is and Conor Cummings, investigating to make it
:12:17. > :12:26.more aerodynamic. All developed by the world Superbike team. We are on
:12:27. > :12:32.board with Michael Dunlop. John McGinn is, essentially, the Honda he
:12:33. > :12:36.rode back here. They just keep doing things to bring it up to date and
:12:37. > :12:45.keep it competitive. They are closed up. Bruce Anstey, you wouldn't
:12:46. > :12:52.believe he is 46. His beard is 46! It is, it is a link him down. If
:12:53. > :13:00.they chop the bottom off, it would be 210. Here he comes, a combination
:13:01. > :13:02.of power. On the outside, surely. But Julie touching. They have
:13:03. > :13:16.touched. I think he came close. He lost a lot of time. He did not
:13:17. > :13:21.get back through those years. Running out of road. He tried to
:13:22. > :13:28.come out of the chicane I think in third gear. Down towards Metropole,
:13:29. > :13:32.three white. Lee Johnston, Michael Dunlop looking to get back in that
:13:33. > :13:38.position but not happening. And through the go, Hutchinson in the
:13:39. > :13:45.lead. Into Church Corner. It could be anyone these seven riders. Wake
:13:46. > :13:53.up the hill, on board with Bruce Anstey as he goes on the bridge. The
:13:54. > :14:00.bikes working so hard. 225 brake horsepower. Not much faster than
:14:01. > :14:07.Superstock at 210 is just ridiculous. That was a nice move
:14:08. > :14:13.from Bruce Anstey. Here they are spreading out. What else helped a
:14:14. > :14:20.great deal, racing Bruce showed up and we have not seen him all week.
:14:21. > :14:27.My goodness, he got that badly wrong. Rather than go up the slip
:14:28. > :14:33.road, it is easy to do that but you lose more time. A bit of grass
:14:34. > :14:38.tracking. On board with racing Bruce. As we go through the end of
:14:39. > :14:43.this lap and dark out onto the circuit. Hutchinson just in front.
:14:44. > :14:49.Michael Dunlop and Lee Johnston put up for me they were the favourite
:14:50. > :14:54.for this race. They are the main protagonists. At the start of the
:14:55. > :14:58.week I had no idea where to put my money down but Thursday morning I
:14:59. > :15:04.remember saying I would put all my money on Michael Dunlop. I'm still
:15:05. > :15:09.convinced this is his best chance of winning here. I think it is a
:15:10. > :15:19.rehearsal for the second Superbike race later on, the North West 200.
:15:20. > :15:27.Moved up into 14th now, making up the time. But will never catch these
:15:28. > :15:33.guys. You could get up into the top ten, Hutchinson again, he had
:15:34. > :15:38.gearbox problems for the top he said he could not get second year.
:15:39. > :15:44.Luckily no one went into the back of him. If the bike in front of you
:15:45. > :15:52.does not grab appear it is so easy to just ram them. We have seen this
:15:53. > :15:58.before, Michael Dunlop going straight past. The Hawk BMW really
:15:59. > :16:04.has got some horsepower. Here comes Bruce Anstey. Riding with him again,
:16:05. > :16:09.he pulled out the slipstream, it did not quite work. Hutchinson back in
:16:10. > :16:17.front weaving through. And it is Michael Rutter. Just swapping
:16:18. > :16:23.positions as if it is just a little traffic jam. Hickman coming back
:16:24. > :16:29.into contention as well. Over the link road we go, a very popular
:16:30. > :16:37.leader at the front of the pack. Michael Dunlop heads Hutchinson,
:16:38. > :16:53.Bruce Anstey and Michael Rutter. Then a couple of Honda bikes. John
:16:54. > :16:58.McGuinness and Cummins. They're doing it again, they just get on
:16:59. > :17:03.these big bikes and treat them as if they are small toys but they really
:17:04. > :17:09.are not. There is Michael Rutter, whose Anstey making up that time
:17:10. > :17:18.that he lost. He has got himself back together and I think
:17:19. > :17:27.Hutchinson, he may continue to miss those gears. The bike is in a huge
:17:28. > :17:31.knot, keeping the throttle and the whole time. We will see if he can
:17:32. > :17:38.get down through the gears this time. I think he will do. He has got
:17:39. > :17:46.it sorted out this time. There is the number three, Hawk BMW, chased
:17:47. > :17:58.by the Honda. Supposedly long in the tooth. Michael Dunlop, his advantage
:17:59. > :18:03.as they turn in, first and second place, over the white lines and on
:18:04. > :18:07.the gas. The crowd just enjoying this terrific race, loving the fact
:18:08. > :18:11.that Michael Dunlop is in front. They're all cheering and waving as
:18:12. > :18:15.Michael Dunlop pulls into the lead. Not over yet but Michael Dunlop
:18:16. > :18:25.thinks it might be, beginning to pull away. Beginning to ease away.
:18:26. > :18:28.Bruce clinging on to stop of the two I think the Honda is the faster, it
:18:29. > :18:38.sounds ridiculous as it is quite an old motorcycle but Clive Paget keeps
:18:39. > :18:42.working away on it. The Honda can be as fast as anything else out there
:18:43. > :18:45.and it is proving it. Ian Hutchinson in third place at the moment,
:18:46. > :18:54.Michael Rutter has not given up hope either. John McGuinness, right with
:18:55. > :19:01.these guys. It bodes well for him for the TT. Hanging in there quite
:19:02. > :19:04.comfortably. Some teams have different objectives and John
:19:05. > :19:10.McGuinness might be happy to see how easy it is to stay with this bunch
:19:11. > :19:13.as the go round. But Michael Dunlop, he only has one objective and that
:19:14. > :19:18.is the chequered flag at the end of the race. Of course the tyres will
:19:19. > :19:25.come into it. Hutchinson has a bit of a moment there, they will not be
:19:26. > :19:31.as good at the end of seven laps. These have a much harder compound in
:19:32. > :19:37.the middle of the tire. They have got to be quite a hard compound and
:19:38. > :19:44.stiffness in the centre to cope with that power. 225 brake horsepower
:19:45. > :19:51.reinforced through the air, it puts so much heat into the tyres. Bruce
:19:52. > :19:54.Anstey and Michael Dunlop easing away as they go around the
:19:55. > :20:02.roundabout. And the gap opens up again as they go on the throttle.
:20:03. > :20:08.Bruce Anstey looking at Michael Dunlop disappearing up the road. Not
:20:09. > :20:15.that far away, but not close any more. A little bit too far I think
:20:16. > :20:20.for him to be in the slipstream. Hutchinson will be using his rear
:20:21. > :20:26.brake trying to hold it back down. Michael Dunlop and not a lot behind.
:20:27. > :20:32.Objects in the mirror are further behind than you think. He is
:20:33. > :20:38.clearing off. It looks that way. Nice and steady into the Mather's
:20:39. > :20:44.Cross chicane. Quite handsomely going on, Michael Dunlop. Bruce the
:20:45. > :20:50.only one kind of going with him. Not really closing him down but he has
:20:51. > :20:54.split from the other group. It is not a breakaway group any more. A
:20:55. > :21:01.breakaway leader. I think the rest just beginning to really in third
:21:02. > :21:07.place. It looks like Michael Rutter. It is Michael Rutter, number eight
:21:08. > :21:13.going in there. There are close behind him. Still so close. And the
:21:14. > :21:24.race has been going on for a while. They have not opened up. Here is
:21:25. > :21:34.Bruce. Doing everything, really animated. That was animated!
:21:35. > :21:37.Hutchinson and Michael Rutter. And here is the number three, Dunlop,
:21:38. > :21:45.just slams that down into the corner. Bruce Anstey has gone down.
:21:46. > :21:52.He was on wide line. That is Church Corner. The Paget Honda is down.
:21:53. > :21:58.Bruce having a word with himself I think upfront. I suspect he is, I
:21:59. > :22:03.think that he missed the apex. He should've taken the road. That
:22:04. > :22:08.really will open things up. Change things enormously for Michael
:22:09. > :22:13.Dunlop, on the road by himself. Hutchinson in second and then
:22:14. > :22:19.Michael Rutter and Peter Hickman. Bruce Anstey hopefully we'll be fine
:22:20. > :22:25.after that. He went into those big foam cushions that absorb the
:22:26. > :22:31.impact. But he just missed the apex. We will ride on board with him on
:22:32. > :22:42.the replay. Squeezing those breaks, he goes in pretty hard. That would
:22:43. > :22:45.be a second gear corner. He tried to get it around and it is not happen.
:22:46. > :22:51.This is a battle between Michael Rutter and Peter Hickman. I wonder
:22:52. > :22:55.if they will carry on, there could be some debris on the track. We will
:22:56. > :22:59.have to find out. The red flags are out, and that will be for the
:23:00. > :23:04.incident with Bruce Anstey. They have all got to come back now and
:23:05. > :23:10.regroup. Such a crowd watching today. Treated to a splendid display
:23:11. > :23:14.of racing from the best road racers in the world. A fantastic race.
:23:15. > :23:23.Michael Dunlop, Ian Hutchinson, Michael Rutter the top three. Peter
:23:24. > :23:29.Hickman just off the podium. Michael, congratulations. What a way
:23:30. > :23:39.to win the race with an outright lap record as well. Not a bad case. A
:23:40. > :23:44.big difference from last year. I knew I could pull the pin and just
:23:45. > :23:51.decided to see if I could do one. The big bike working so well. We had
:23:52. > :23:58.a lot of changes to make up the boys worked all day after 30 practice.
:23:59. > :24:03.Just nice to win the big bike race. That is the way it goes. To win the
:24:04. > :24:08.Superbike is class. What does it mean to you here flying the flag for
:24:09. > :24:12.the Dunlop family, we know Alistair Seeley has already taken the record
:24:13. > :24:20.from your dad but for you important to put your name up in lights again?
:24:21. > :24:26.It is another one on my tally. The big machine, Fairplay, we have got
:24:27. > :24:34.sponsors but no big manufacturer pushing us. Stewart and Steve have
:24:35. > :24:42.done all they can. And how good was that lap to give you the race when?
:24:43. > :24:48.I made a couple of silly mistakes. Should have run a bit quicker in
:24:49. > :25:00.some places. I did not know I had got the lap record. I thought it was
:25:01. > :25:01.OK. Let's stick in another good one. I saw the flag and was not quite
:25:02. > :25:24.sure. But yes, good. One interested spectator here this
:25:25. > :25:28.year is the former world Superbike star Carl Fogarty. Well-known to
:25:29. > :25:31.many of course for his exploits in the television series I'm a
:25:32. > :25:36.celebrity get me out of here. The king of the jungle is fondly
:25:37. > :25:40.remembered in Northern Ireland for his North West 200 win back in 1993.
:25:41. > :25:50.Gavin Andrews spent the day with him.
:25:51. > :25:56.I have sunshine wherever I go! Ids the moment when you miss the
:25:57. > :26:00.bus? On a day like today, a circuit like this, I used to love racing
:26:01. > :26:06.here especially in this kind of weather. I feel nervous for these
:26:07. > :26:10.guys. How will they be feeling now? Like anything else, you just want
:26:11. > :26:16.the flag to drop and get on with it. It is just the hanging round, that
:26:17. > :26:20.is the worst bit. You just want to get going and do the best you can.
:26:21. > :26:26.How would you fancy going round on some of this new machinery? I would
:26:27. > :26:33.love it. Not sure about 600, but I would love it. Tell us about 1993,
:26:34. > :26:38.when it all came together? Just relief more than anything. Try to
:26:39. > :26:47.win the race a few years before that, on the Honda in 1991 and 1992.
:26:48. > :26:52.But we had reliability bottoms with the Honda. So it was more belief
:26:53. > :26:57.than anything to finally crossed the line and win the first race. I had
:26:58. > :27:03.been trying for so many years, it was a relief to finally win. Still a
:27:04. > :27:09.welcome return to the Northwest for Carl Fogarty one of the most
:27:10. > :27:15.decorated riders in motorcycling. Another one is John McGuinness, who
:27:16. > :27:21.recently was presented with one of the most prestigious awards in
:27:22. > :27:26.motorsport. It feels really cool, really special. It is hard to put
:27:27. > :27:35.into words. I have been racing a long time, 26 seasons. Never thought
:27:36. > :27:43.I would be sat in that group. With Jackie Stewart, James Hunt, Stirling
:27:44. > :28:01.Moss. All behind us on the wall. We are in good company! We are here.
:28:02. > :28:08.I'm really touched by it. Really pleased that they recognised what I
:28:09. > :28:14.have achieved. I have put my heart and soul into it for years and nice
:28:15. > :28:18.to get the reward back. A gigantic tribute to extremely nice person. As
:28:19. > :28:25.a genuine person, very friendly person. Above all, a brilliantly
:28:26. > :28:26.talented rider. He rides not just with his body and reflexes but most
:28:27. > :28:42.importantly with his head. Everybody is a road race fan, I
:28:43. > :28:50.think. I think they just don't know it yet.
:28:51. > :28:59.The next race is for the Supertwins. The first race in this class was of
:29:00. > :29:05.course red flagged because of an accident involving Darren Cooper and
:29:06. > :29:09.Ryan Farquhar. Both were taken to hospital, Cooper released, Ryan
:29:10. > :29:15.Farquhar was airlifted to Belfast and underwent surgery. Cause the
:29:16. > :29:25.news from the hospital is more positive his team decided to race on
:29:26. > :29:28.today. We are doing this for Ryan, I hope he was racing, but it's what he
:29:29. > :29:35.would have wanted, we took a decision, in light of his recovery
:29:36. > :29:40.is coming along... Philip Jeromy is a former winner of this race, he
:29:41. > :29:45.must we one of the favourites. He is but he has three good guys in front
:29:46. > :29:50.of him. Ivan Lewis ten, previous winner, Martin Jessop who wants his
:29:51. > :29:54.first win. Peter Hickman who has been on the roster already and
:29:55. > :30:02.behind Tim Newcomer, malachite Mitchell Thomas who wants a rostrum
:30:03. > :30:10.at the Northwest 200. Let's join the commentary team. -- Malachi
:30:11. > :30:14.Mitchell-Thomas. COMMENTATOR: the Supertwins going
:30:15. > :30:18.ahead, the team says they want that to happen and every team
:30:19. > :30:23.understands. Darren Cooper will not be out there, nor will James
:30:24. > :30:27.Hillier, but we still have Ivan Lewis ten and he would like to add
:30:28. > :30:34.to that win that he took on Thursday night. A big chance for him, perhaps
:30:35. > :30:40.for Martin Jessop? Paul Jordan, here is the grid. Not all of these names
:30:41. > :30:49.will be out there. Ryan Farquhar and Dan Cooper missing. McWilliams, Paul
:30:50. > :30:53.Jordan, will be. Malachi Mitchell-Thomas in 10th place, did
:30:54. > :31:02.not enjoy his qualifying but says he races better than he practices. The
:31:03. > :31:08.weather continues to show its face to us in sunshine.
:31:09. > :31:19.Jordan getting away well. Ivan Lintin running straight on... Jeremy
:31:20. > :31:25.McWilliams, 99 was in there. Hopping into third. Danny Webb, number
:31:26. > :31:34.three, the back of him going into the rise... They do not really quite
:31:35. > :31:37.as much. 95 brake horsepower. On board with Michael Sweeney. Slower
:31:38. > :31:44.than the 600 Supersport, heavier. They are. These are without doubt
:31:45. > :31:49.the slowest bikes on the course but they normally produce great racing.
:31:50. > :31:57.Martin Lennon, frontwheel up in the air. Came off the front row, good
:31:58. > :32:02.start, back with James Calton. Mill Road Roundabout. Into the
:32:03. > :32:07.countryside for the first time. Here is the start... We are on board with
:32:08. > :32:14.James. Malachi Mitchell-Thomas, streaking through. Danny Webb,
:32:15. > :32:20.number three. In front of us, they go through Millbank Avenue. Back
:32:21. > :32:27.with the leaders. I then pulling the pain already, look at the advantage
:32:28. > :32:31.already. I don't think you can see leaders, you have got to said
:32:32. > :32:37.leader, Ivan has cleared off. The slipstream at work for Martin
:32:38. > :32:42.Jessop. His bike has been fast. They have done some work on the
:32:43. > :32:50.aerodynamics. It is working extremely well. Look at them, their
:32:51. > :32:57.shoulders. We are on board with Michael Sweeney. Most of these bikes
:32:58. > :33:02.start off as an ER six Kawasaki and get modified. Number 22... All
:33:03. > :33:08.Jordan. I don't know if he made to the corner but he was up on the
:33:09. > :33:12.grass. On the link road, coming back, conditions could not be
:33:13. > :33:17.better. Lovely day to go racing. Martin Jessop doing nicely, thank
:33:18. > :33:21.you. What the fans would like to see is a good result for K M R. Ryan
:33:22. > :33:34.Farquhar's class of racing. Ivan in slow motion, Martin Jessop
:33:35. > :33:39.behind him. You get to see all the suspension moving around, the guys,
:33:40. > :33:46.look at them, Malachi Mitchell-Thomas, getting his head
:33:47. > :33:52.down. You can see the throttle posting as hard as he can. The
:33:53. > :33:58.Supertwins, Ryan Farquhar's class, the team want a result but lots of
:33:59. > :34:03.people want a result, Michael Sweeney, always goes racing to win.
:34:04. > :34:08.At the moment, Ivan Lintin doing the winning. Martin Jessop behind him.
:34:09. > :34:14.Something of a super twin specialist. Very much so, won his
:34:15. > :34:21.first TT in this class last year, one here on Thursday night. That was
:34:22. > :34:32.close enough, Danny Webb, number three. Ripping past. Ryan Farquhar
:34:33. > :34:38.and Cooper going out. He got the race win, he is leading, doing a
:34:39. > :34:43.great job here. Probably leading here tonight. The breakaway group at
:34:44. > :34:47.the front. Not as close as we expect the Supertwins to be. Part of the
:34:48. > :34:55.reason, all of those spaces on the grid. That is given Ivan Lintin the
:34:56. > :35:00.opportunity to break early. Not a long race. Not at all, on board with
:35:01. > :35:05.Michael Sweeney, using the slipstream, is he going through the
:35:06. > :35:08.middle? Malachi Mitchell-Thomas tipping it in in front of Jeromy
:35:09. > :35:13.McWilliams, McWilliams would love to win this race Ryan Farquhar who is
:35:14. > :35:21.recuperating in hospital. Fourth place, McWilliams. Following Malachi
:35:22. > :35:32.Mitchell-Thomas... It is all turns from here to the old Rob corner. Up
:35:33. > :35:35.towards Blackhill... If they are going to pull in Ivan Lintin, it
:35:36. > :35:42.will have to be done on the twist and turn. He has definitely pulled
:35:43. > :35:49.the pin, made his break, I think he has got away with it, other people
:35:50. > :35:53.might have other ideas. Malachi Mitchell-Thomas and third, Jeromy
:35:54. > :35:58.McWilliams close enough in fourth. Jeromy McWilliams changing bikes,
:35:59. > :36:02.looking around, seeing Martin Jessop, Jeromy McWilliams, 52,
:36:03. > :36:12.doesn't seem to be slowing at all, he has been riding lots of bikes.
:36:13. > :36:21.Jeromy McWilliams, very experienced. He knows he cannot... Look at
:36:22. > :36:25.this... Malachi Mitchell-Thomas... Alistair Seeley... Puts him up on
:36:26. > :36:29.the grass, I think Martin Jessop was not expecting that. I do not think
:36:30. > :36:33.he was, he did not need a second invitation, straight past. Malachi
:36:34. > :36:40.Mitchell-Thomas moving up a place, into second place. Jessop will not
:36:41. > :36:44.be impressed, the youngster... Well, it is racing. It is racing, a
:36:45. > :36:49.short-circuit move, we have seen Alistair Seeley do it in that
:36:50. > :36:56.chicane, few people have copied him, obvious this young has seen the
:36:57. > :37:00.videos. Over the grass, Jessop goes, understands he has room to do that,
:37:01. > :37:05.does not have done the right gear, grass and dirt on his tyres. Number
:37:06. > :37:13.40, take him a little file to clean up. Still swearing in his helmet.
:37:14. > :37:18.Malachi Mitchell-Thomas did not leave him a bunch of room. But he
:37:19. > :37:22.committed to the corner and there is only room for one motorcycle at that
:37:23. > :37:26.point but this man doesn't need to have any aggravation, he is already
:37:27. > :37:36.stretching that advantage, lap after lap. We came here with murder being
:37:37. > :37:40.lap older, Ivan Lintin to get to over 109 on Thursday night and there
:37:41. > :37:45.is a good chance it will go here. We are in the right direction, the
:37:46. > :37:50.wind... Stretching out the lead. This road is so narrow. If your car
:37:51. > :37:59.filled one side of it, that is how narrow it is. We take it down the
:38:00. > :38:04.right-hand side... That is James Calton again... Michael Sweeney
:38:05. > :38:11.coming back, these two will have a fair old battle. Ivan Lintin...
:38:12. > :38:15.Looking at his breaking ma, riding his line, pulling away. They are all
:38:16. > :38:26.tripping over one another, lap after lap, that is Danny Webb... That is
:38:27. > :38:29.one place up for everyone behind him. Second, Malachi
:38:30. > :38:37.Mitchell-Thomas. Martin Jessop in third. And look at the lead Ivan
:38:38. > :38:41.Lintin has got. That is not the slipstream of a lead. You would not
:38:42. > :38:48.think they can bridge that gap. He was very fast on Thursday night, it
:38:49. > :38:53.looks like Jessop is coming back. His head stays firmly down, he has
:38:54. > :38:58.got his position back and look at this... The slow motion shots. The
:38:59. > :39:05.rear tyre, deforming, trying to bite into the tarmac. You can see the
:39:06. > :39:15.eyes of Jessop, staring at Malachi Mitchell-Thomas. He has got his own
:39:16. > :39:18.back and he did it cleanly, we have seen some things on the long
:39:19. > :39:23.straights but none of that this time. Malachi Mitchell-Thomas has
:39:24. > :39:30.another chance. The inside of Jessop... The inside line. This is
:39:31. > :39:38.the slipstream, pulling the bike along. Realising there wasn't enough
:39:39. > :39:42.track to do so, pulling to the left. That gap doesn't seem to be
:39:43. > :39:50.diminishing. Those two are busy fighting... That must have touched,
:39:51. > :39:55.that was an elbow in the camera. Great racing. From these two, both
:39:56. > :39:59.of them, nice young chaps in the paddock but when you put your visor
:40:00. > :40:04.down, you put your helmet on... That was an elbow in the eye from
:40:05. > :40:08.Sweeney. I am sure that James Calton will not mind that and I am sure he
:40:09. > :40:14.will be looking for a chance... Look at Sweeney. Huge amount, I think he
:40:15. > :40:24.got out at the chicane really well. You see the back wheel. Nicely done.
:40:25. > :40:29.Putting it through, James Cannon ten, smart looking machine. All the
:40:30. > :40:35.time, Ivan Lintin, he seems to be mailing every apex. Getting in the
:40:36. > :40:41.right gears at every point. Carrying his speed. A perfect race for him.
:40:42. > :40:47.Stretching out even more. A lovely, stylish rider. But you do not see it
:40:48. > :40:56.very often, they are usually in the mix, rather like Sweeney. Martin
:40:57. > :41:01.Jessop deciding not to do the thing in the chicane! Will he do it next
:41:02. > :41:05.time? Not really close enough. I don't think so but I think he has
:41:06. > :41:10.already worked it out that his bike seems to be carrying everything,
:41:11. > :41:16.they worked out the aerodynamics. A lot of them will have different
:41:17. > :41:22.swinging arms... Changing all the bodywork. Lots gets changed. You can
:41:23. > :41:31.see Jessop working at, well out wide, into the dust. He wants to get
:41:32. > :41:39.close and sweep past on the run out towards University Corner. Just over
:41:40. > :41:44.half race distance. Ivan and ten will be looking at his pit board. I
:41:45. > :41:47.think Jessop has a good chance of getting past Malachi Mitchell-Thomas
:41:48. > :41:53.when they get to the slipstream area. Mill Road Roundabout, you go
:41:54. > :42:00.right, around the roundabout the wrong way, it is bumpy, dusty, you
:42:01. > :42:04.have got to get out of bed as fast as you can because you need every
:42:05. > :42:10.mile an hour going up this straight. You carry all the speed that you get
:42:11. > :42:14.on the exit. This is past the fuel station, heading towards a Station
:42:15. > :42:18.Corner, on Thursday night we had a problem with this... Hopefully
:42:19. > :42:31.tonight we will not have any of those issues. Bad lead looks like it
:42:32. > :42:35.is continuing. Even the Supertwins, 158-160 miles an hour, breathtaking.
:42:36. > :42:43.165 miles an hour through the speed trap. Look down there and see what I
:42:44. > :42:45.can see. Martin Jessop in front of Malachi Mitchell-Thomas, the
:42:46. > :42:51.slipstream has done its thing, carrying him past. I think it has a
:42:52. > :42:57.lot to do with aerodynamics, look at the different frontal areas. It is
:42:58. > :43:03.so important on these bikes, back with Sweeney. James has been doing
:43:04. > :43:09.this all race and they are probably going to carry on... Look at that
:43:10. > :43:14.Aquila, they will probably carry on. Valley Sally, a round they go...
:43:15. > :43:17.These bikes come naked from the shops, it is a bit of a
:43:18. > :43:22.do-it-yourself affairs so there is scope to do something. But of
:43:23. > :43:28.course, what is the biggest are problem? It is you. If you are a
:43:29. > :43:32.small rider and you can tuck yourself and it helps, these are
:43:33. > :43:37.narrow machines but you have just got to look at this bike, the
:43:38. > :43:42.riders, it looks a little bit prettier and smaller on the front
:43:43. > :43:44.because Jessop, he is not small, and Malachi Mitchell-Thomas is not a
:43:45. > :44:02.small person. He is not as tall... He leaves no gap, nice and tight.
:44:03. > :44:08.James Cowton coming through the Chicane, trying to get on Michael
:44:09. > :44:19.Sweeney as soon as they come out and get on the power again. Michael
:44:20. > :44:25.Sweeney looked over. They all run with different exhaust systems, some
:44:26. > :44:31.twin, some single pipes. Depending on what you have got the most power
:44:32. > :44:40.from. Coming up the other side. Sweeney looks across. Standing a bit
:44:41. > :44:47.on its nose. The front wheel came off the ground then. Just about. 95
:44:48. > :44:56.Rick was poor and they start off with about 65. There is just nothing
:44:57. > :45:02.in it. -- 95 Rick horsepower. In all honesty they are quite stretched.
:45:03. > :45:07.Meanwhile the race leader, Ivan Lintin, veering off into the middle
:45:08. > :45:13.distance. Jessop probably cannot see Ivan Lintin at this point. Sparks
:45:14. > :45:23.coming off, he just clipped the kerb with his exhaust. Another red flag
:45:24. > :45:30.in the super race. We never like to see the red flag. And we have a race
:45:31. > :45:36.result declared. Ivan Lintin wins his second race of the week on a red
:45:37. > :45:46.flag. Martin Jessopp, second. Jeremy McWilliams instead face.
:45:47. > :45:49.Congratulations, a double. Both in unfortunate circumstances, really. I
:45:50. > :45:53.have not seen a chequered flag properly yet. But I will take those
:45:54. > :46:07.winds from the event. Unfortunately Malachi
:46:08. > :46:11.Mitchell-Thomas died as a result of an incident on the coast road
:46:12. > :46:15.section of the course. He was treated by paramedics at the scene.
:46:16. > :46:22.But sadly they were unable to save his life. The 20-year-old, who was
:46:23. > :46:26.racing for the Cookstown -based John Burroughs team, was one of the
:46:27. > :46:33.brightest prospect of the sport. His father Kevin paid this moving
:46:34. > :46:41.tribute. I have lost my best friend, my son. But he died doing what he
:46:42. > :46:47.wanted to do. He lived for riding, he has raced since he was six years
:46:48. > :46:52.old. The crowds have taken to him, he was a fantastic personality. No
:46:53. > :46:58.one has a bad word to say about him. I want to thank the paramedics for
:46:59. > :47:02.trying to save him at the roadside and thank the organisers for putting
:47:03. > :47:06.on a fantastic event. The information that came out, the way
:47:07. > :47:17.they helped me, when things went wrong. It was a great event.
:47:18. > :47:22.Saddened by his loss. He was destined for great things. He was
:47:23. > :47:28.quite a talent. He had done great things prior to losing his life. His
:47:29. > :47:36.CV throughout the years has been one of fast tracking. Changing the rules
:47:37. > :47:40.to let him right in super Moto when he was too young for the European
:47:41. > :47:46.Championships. Every time someone said you could not do that we
:47:47. > :47:51.changed the grain and did it. It got us to where we are. We did not come
:47:52. > :47:56.as a big bank account, but through hard work and grit and determination
:47:57. > :48:01.and his desire to win races. I have never seen desire Mike had. How
:48:02. > :48:04.would you remember your son, who touched so many people here in
:48:05. > :48:13.Northern Ireland in this short space of time. A fantastic young man and a
:48:14. > :48:19.fantastic bike racer. The Northwest 200 abandoned then. A tragic way to
:48:20. > :48:24.end the day. A sad way for things to end. We started off with those great
:48:25. > :48:27.crowds, records being broken and then things went wrong. Malachi
:48:28. > :48:32.Mitchell-Thomas was a great lad, he had a super future in the sport, he
:48:33. > :48:38.was a rising star and things like this, just come to sudden end for
:48:39. > :48:42.him. Thank you very much indeed and thoughts with the family of Malachi
:48:43. > :48:48.Mitchell-Thomas from all of us here. It is goodbye.
