:01:32. > :01:39.a superb final bowl to take the set 6-5. The first four ends of the
:01:40. > :01:46.second set followed a similar pattern with the measurement
:01:47. > :01:50.struggling to find a length. Enslaved won all four to establish a
:01:51. > :01:59.5 shot lead. But the Scot found his aim in the next end. He was closing
:02:00. > :02:08.on Greenslade. His final bowl came close to choosing the gap to a
:02:09. > :02:12.point. More drama at end eight. Anderson's draw knocked
:02:13. > :02:18.Greenslade's bowl out of contention and suddenly he was ahead. But he
:02:19. > :02:24.left the door open, and Greenslade showed nerves of steel with his
:02:25. > :02:33.final bowl to take the match to a tie-break. Jason, the 2004 Scottish
:02:34. > :02:39.Open champion, won the first end leaving Anderson with a difficult
:02:40. > :02:43.draw. He played it to perfection. But Greenslade had another chance to
:02:44. > :02:54.win the match with his one remaining bowl. The drive worked a treat. He
:02:55. > :02:59.wins an epic semifinal. It really was a fantastic semifinal.
:03:00. > :03:03.Jason Greenslade, he has been playing some wonderful bowls all
:03:04. > :03:07.week. Stewart Anderson, too. But Jason was on fire this morning and
:03:08. > :03:12.he is through to the final. We will be showing that live on BBC Two
:03:13. > :03:18.Scotland tomorrow. But who will he play? Either Greg Harlow or Darren
:03:19. > :03:22.Burnett. Bowler is having a pretty good year but it is nothing compared
:03:23. > :03:26.to the previous 12 months. The world champion in January, Commonwealth
:03:27. > :03:31.champion in June. 2014 will go down as one of his greatest. But it is
:03:32. > :03:33.not being easy -- but it is not easy fitting in being one of the best
:03:34. > :03:34.bowlers in the fitting in being one of the best
:03:35. > :03:43.bowlers in the world with being a policeman. Most of us in the top 16
:03:44. > :03:49.work outside of it, with different jobs. It is difficult for myself,
:03:50. > :03:54.being a police officer, to juggle. The more you win, the more you seem
:03:55. > :03:58.to be playing in distant areas. It is a fine balance. I have been
:03:59. > :04:03.working this week more than I would have. So I have been coming to the
:04:04. > :04:07.venues, literally having to focus on the game and then I am away again,
:04:08. > :04:13.getting out of the zone. It seems to have worked this week. I have been
:04:14. > :04:16.at the venue for the hours I have been here, focused, and then I come
:04:17. > :04:22.back for the next round. It has worked well. I have put no pressure
:04:23. > :04:27.on myself in this event. I have tried to be laid-back. I have not
:04:28. > :04:32.really focused on the event. Not as much as I previously have. But it
:04:33. > :04:36.seems to have worked. I have been a really relaxed. It has worked
:04:37. > :04:40.brilliantly. In flashes, I have played consistently well and that is
:04:41. > :04:47.what has happened in each of my games. Hopefully I can do more of
:04:48. > :04:54.that. I reckon at Perth, my record many years ago was very good. To get
:04:55. > :05:04.to the semifinal this year is definitely a big improvement. I'm
:05:05. > :05:09.looking forward to it. 2014 is definitely a very big year in my
:05:10. > :05:14.life. Commonwealth gold, it is going to be very difficult to beat. But I
:05:15. > :05:19.suppose you strive to win it back again. It was hard to win at the
:05:20. > :05:23.first time, no doubt, but now I have done it, I would like to get it back
:05:24. > :05:29.again. Me and Greg Harlow, we have met a few times recently. I think we
:05:30. > :05:33.met in the last two World Championships. I managed to just get
:05:34. > :05:36.past him. But he completely hammered me last year in the quarterfinals.
:05:37. > :05:40.He is a quality player. He has all the shots. I'm going to have to be
:05:41. > :05:46.at the top of my game to compete with him in the semifinal. That is
:05:47. > :05:50.where the real competition starts. If you have got this far, you can
:05:51. > :05:57.relax now and see how far you can really go. Darren was in court this
:05:58. > :06:02.morning. You will be glad to know it was in his role as a police officer
:06:03. > :06:03.and not as the accused. He is up against Greg Harlow. Let's find out
:06:04. > :06:08.about Greg Harlow. He is not a man against Greg Harlow. Let's find out
:06:09. > :06:13.about Greg Harlow. He is not a man for keeping statistics but he is
:06:14. > :06:18.pretty skilled at picking up titles. He became the world champion in 2007
:06:19. > :06:21.and two years previously, he won here in Perth. Celebrating with a
:06:22. > :06:26.cartwheel, champagne and fish and chips.
:06:27. > :06:33.It is always a pleasure to come up to Perth. I have won and lost in all
:06:34. > :06:47.rounds before but it always gives you a buzz when you get to the later
:06:48. > :06:54.rounds. I think the semifinals, once you are on a roll, it is probably
:06:55. > :06:55.the worst round to lose in. I have played Darren added a few times and
:06:56. > :06:55.won a good few times, lost a good few times. He is in great form
:06:56. > :06:56.lately, so it should be a titanic battle. I know what I would like to
:06:57. > :07:02.do but whether it happens during the game or not is different. Obviously,
:07:03. > :07:05.with Darren, he has got a great driver shot. You don't want to give
:07:06. > :07:10.him too many targets but having said that, you have to get close, so it
:07:11. > :07:13.is about playing the game rather than the man, and then just seeing
:07:14. > :07:20.what happens tactically as the game unfolds. Ladies and gentlemen,
:07:21. > :07:23.please give a very warm welcome for the second of our two semifinalist
:07:24. > :07:27.here at the Jewellers Centre today, the former Scottish international
:07:28. > :07:48.open and World Champion, Greg Harlow.
:07:49. > :07:53.And up against him this afternoon, current Commonwealth champion,
:07:54. > :08:17.Darren Burnett. These guys have been in sparkling
:08:18. > :08:22.form all week. This match should be an absolute sensation. Life here on
:08:23. > :08:25.BBC Two Scotland, described by David Portal and Paul Mitchell.
:08:26. > :08:29.What is certain in this tournament this year is that there will be a
:08:30. > :08:34.repeat winner. All three remaining players, Jason Greenslade and the
:08:35. > :08:41.two behind us, have won this title before, but believe me, they are
:08:42. > :08:44.hungry to win again. Semifinals are horrible to lose, so you really want
:08:45. > :08:48.to enjoy the final, the atmosphere with the final, the whole day from
:08:49. > :08:52.the start, all the way through. But with the semifinals, it is just
:08:53. > :08:56.another match, actually. You are there and then you go away. We shall
:08:57. > :09:10.see. The Scottish international open, 2015. Jason Greenslade, and
:09:11. > :09:17.Stewart Anderson, and no work to do between Harlow and Darren Burnett.
:09:18. > :09:41.-- and no work to do. In the previous match, Greg Harlow
:09:42. > :09:47.was excellent in his first set. Even by his own admission, he went a
:09:48. > :09:52.little loose after words. He knows he will tighten up on that because
:09:53. > :09:58.he will be more than up for this match. The crowd will be very fair,
:09:59. > :10:09.of course, as they always are. But you know really where their
:10:10. > :10:19.loyalties will lie. Credit for Greg Harlow, preserving a special wave
:10:20. > :10:48.for the table with the saltires. He gave them a wave and smile.
:10:49. > :11:00.The guys will have been practising, but as much as ten or 15 minutes can
:11:01. > :11:24.make a difference. Both players using strong biased
:11:25. > :11:30.bowls. The green ones just don't seem to bend as much as the red. And
:11:31. > :11:34.when you put them down at the test table, everything is exactly the
:11:35. > :11:42.same. I was talking to Stewart Anderson about that. Darren Burnett,
:11:43. > :11:50.down on the backend. He has to reach for this. He gives that away gently.
:11:51. > :12:03.He knew he had not played through it. Even the best in the world can
:12:04. > :12:12.do that. There is Alex Marshall. The six time champion. He's year with
:12:13. > :12:22.his wife, Diane, who is supporting Craig.
:12:23. > :12:32.No doubt in his new role, he is doing some business as well. That is
:12:33. > :12:39.a mess from Greg Harlow. No danger of it coming through. He will be
:12:40. > :12:47.delighted to get away from an end like that. Like everybody, he has to
:12:48. > :12:56.get used to the rink, get used to playing. A couple of mistakes and as
:12:57. > :13:04.the game goes on, I am sure that these mistakes will disappear.
:13:05. > :13:14.Indeed. That being the case, some spectators coming in to grab their
:13:15. > :13:23.seats. A late lunch. A quick word with Diane, looking very well,
:13:24. > :13:26.sporting a tan. She has been in Australia for four months this year.
:13:27. > :13:31.Alex will be up and down from Australia, because that is the
:13:32. > :13:39.headquarters of the business he is working for. They have a UK based,
:13:40. > :13:48.of course. But he does play a lot of bowls down there. It's not about
:13:49. > :13:53.life. The only problem, it does take him away from Midlothian for a
:13:54. > :15:19.while. But he can keep in touch. Technology today...
:15:20. > :15:59.An unexpected chance for Darren to put another one in.
:16:00. > :16:08.He might have played a different job if he did not have his opponent with
:16:09. > :16:14.a bowl to play. He needs to put the anchors on. Darren has doubled back
:16:15. > :16:22.again. A bit of room here. Not particularly easy. Only 12 inches
:16:23. > :16:23.away, pretty far. But he will certainly be thinking to himself
:16:24. > :17:15.that this is a chance for a spare. Darren Burnett getting on the curve.
:17:16. > :17:29.Two apiece. He only last two singles in his last game. Against the
:17:30. > :17:36.Australian, David Holt. It really was a good game. David Holt of
:17:37. > :17:42.England. He represented in the Commonwealth Games and won the gold
:17:43. > :17:42.in the fours and then moved to Australia, where he has been ever
:17:43. > :17:58.since. St John's club in Sydney is where he
:17:59. > :18:03.plays, it is a very big club. A lot of money in bowls in New South
:18:04. > :18:07.Wales. He said it was very strange to be wearing the green and gold of
:18:08. > :19:08.Australia as a former England international player.
:19:09. > :19:16.All of the top players have won multiple events in different ways,
:19:17. > :19:22.but these two have won a lot of national championships. Going
:19:23. > :19:33.through the domestic game, a lot of titles. Very important for players
:19:34. > :19:44.to establish themselves at all levels. Some very good players don't
:19:45. > :19:51.want to go down the route of the professional game. Darren didn't for
:19:52. > :20:03.a long time. He made the decision to move into it and he has been very
:20:04. > :20:06.successful ever since. Greg is tempted with this. He's very good at
:20:07. > :20:17.the runners. Meticulous with his forehand. Into the green bowl. He's
:20:18. > :20:38.very happy with the result. He does not miss too many with his
:20:39. > :20:46.forehand. One of the players with a favour for driving one side or the
:20:47. > :20:50.other. I know one player who, given the opportunity, would drive on his
:20:51. > :21:02.back and 100% of the time because he rarely misses. Not sure about this
:21:03. > :21:06.one. It still looks a bit lazy. I am a little surprised he played that
:21:07. > :21:17.across the green. Because Greg uses a strong bias bowl. He did run one
:21:18. > :21:24.into the side ditch the other day. It might just have been in his mind.
:21:25. > :21:30.I'm sure he has been out practising, trying to get it into
:21:31. > :21:46.his head. He should drop shot down narrow side. -- draw the shot.
:21:47. > :21:56.Alan Thornhill confirms the score. The marker for this match. A very
:21:57. > :22:09.experienced marker. The marking championships is all
:22:10. > :22:14.done by volunteers to the Association, but you have some that
:22:15. > :22:46.are very, very good. -- to the umpire Association.
:22:47. > :22:54.Darren Burnett looking to get to his third Scottish International Open
:22:55. > :23:17.final. He almost defended it a year later in 2002, having won into 2001.
:23:18. > :23:22.In 2012, he lost to Paul Foster. Greg Harlow at this stage for the
:23:23. > :23:23.seventh time. His record is absolutely even. Won three, lost
:23:24. > :26:50.three. moment because they have not quite
:26:51. > :26:53.got into it. I think it is just the feeling that they are very close on
:26:54. > :27:00.occasion, and the bowl is just dropping short. The same again with
:27:01. > :27:12.Darren. Normally that would have been within 12 inches, quite often
:27:13. > :27:18.within six. It is almost like they're having to push through a
:27:19. > :27:27.little bit. As I said before, better to bring on then increase all the
:27:28. > :27:30.time, because at least the back roads are handy and useful. And if
:27:31. > :27:44.you are looking for absolute dead weight, it is not unusual to drop
:27:45. > :28:11.shot. -- drop shot. But he's actually not bad.
:28:12. > :28:38.Both these players using wide bias bowls. You will not see a straight
:28:39. > :28:49.bowl used by the top players. He needs to take a gently, he does not
:28:50. > :28:58.want to bounce the red bowl. Greg wanting to come and have a little
:28:59. > :29:02.look at this. It is going to be a tricky one when he sees it. He will
:29:03. > :29:16.not be terribly happy about having to play the run down inside. It
:29:17. > :29:22.would not be good, green bowl on the red. But there is the green bowl
:29:23. > :29:33.onto green bowl short... -- onto green bowl shot. Great with two to
:29:34. > :29:53.play. Could influence the shot selection. All three could
:29:54. > :30:05.disappear, or the jack. Well, a good strike. He might have done pretty
:30:06. > :30:09.well. He has got the two green bowls but he would have preferred to have
:30:10. > :30:16.left of the jack where it was, that would have been better. However, it
:30:17. > :30:23.was just hard enough to get the weight.
:30:24. > :30:39.This is not a given by any means. It is all about the weight. He is
:30:40. > :30:45.trying to run it out. The bowls have been pulling up in that hand.
:30:46. > :30:53.Normally that would have been a straightforward shot for Darren but
:30:54. > :31:04.they have been pulling up and it has got people out. Greg Harlow, second
:31:05. > :31:07.shot, trying to put this back into elite. He certainly looked as if he
:31:08. > :31:14.put a bit into this in terms of weight. Coming in nicely. Two or
:31:15. > :31:30.three feet more than he thought he needed. Two shots, Greg Harlow. A
:31:31. > :31:36.very interested spectator in the players' balcony, Alex Marshall. We
:31:37. > :31:39.knew it was going to be tight but it is topsy-turvy. It was always going
:31:40. > :31:46.to be tight until the very end. The early exchanges have been very
:31:47. > :31:51.close. I am sure as the game goes on it will get better. We talked before
:31:52. > :31:56.that Darren was in court this morning. He is the police officer.
:31:57. > :32:01.That cannot be the best preparation. He must be used to that kind of
:32:02. > :32:05.thing. Definitely. All week he has been back and forth to the court.
:32:06. > :32:11.Knowing his quality he will be putting that to the back of his
:32:12. > :32:14.mind. This is the first time that the crowd have been as full as this
:32:15. > :32:23.this week. Does that impact on the carpet? We saw that, unusual.
:32:24. > :32:27.Absolutely. Normally it is a bit quicker. The players have found that
:32:28. > :32:34.the carpet was wide to start with but it slows down at the hands get
:32:35. > :32:40.tighter. It changes day-to-day. Greg Harlow is a great player, he likes
:32:41. > :32:43.playing here, and Darren has been in great form from last year at the
:32:44. > :32:52.World Championships. How do you see it going? Both have been on form
:32:53. > :33:00.playing great polls this week. So far Greg has been coming out with
:33:01. > :33:03.two or three running shots. Just trying to get to the front of the
:33:04. > :33:09.jack can take the head from there. Who is winning? I am not going to
:33:10. > :33:20.sit on the fence, I cannot go against my Scottish colleague. Good
:33:21. > :33:24.to hear from Alex Marshall MBE. Good to year he is not sitting on the
:33:25. > :33:29.fence. If he had gone against the Scot... It would not have been good.
:33:30. > :33:37.I think he is on a safe one. He is right. Darren is just not making his
:33:38. > :33:45.first 11 days. He is dropping too many short bowls. If he does not
:33:46. > :33:55.Greg will take over and force them into all sorts of difficulties.
:33:56. > :34:11.I will say it again, that is just not like Darren.
:34:12. > :34:22.Greg wants this one in because he knows this will put pressure. Just
:34:23. > :34:28.going to slip away. The weight was good. He was hoping to try to turn
:34:29. > :34:35.that jack round the corner. In case Darren decided to have a pop at it.
:34:36. > :34:41.Still got a bowl after this, so sticking with the draw. Certainly
:34:42. > :34:56.better. The second shot, but there is still
:34:57. > :35:01.something on here for Greg, the turn of the jack here for three or four.
:35:02. > :35:07.That is what he will be looking for. He was not far away in the last
:35:08. > :35:20.delivery. Could be an extra two feet of weight.
:35:21. > :35:35.Following this one closely. Does he have the extra weight? Yes. Well
:35:36. > :35:43.played. That is really what he was looking for. Very good to get
:35:44. > :35:46.another bowl in. Excellent delivery. You can almost see him encouraging
:35:47. > :35:55.the bowl to try to get to the jack to turn it through, not that many
:35:56. > :36:01.chances to pick up accounts. Darren, a risky one, if you go looking for
:36:02. > :36:07.it you could take your own bowl out. The jack was on the re-spot, would
:36:08. > :36:15.you be any worse off? Probably not. Probably worth a go. Sticking with
:36:16. > :36:30.the draw. This is not easy. I can understand. He was left in a
:36:31. > :36:35.difficult position with no back bowls. Taken his own bowl out and of
:36:36. > :36:43.the jack had gone through he would have been three or maybe four down.
:36:44. > :36:46.Darren has four time-outs remaining. As it is he is in a little bit of
:36:47. > :37:57.trouble. Once again, the backhand is not
:37:58. > :38:02.doing Darren a lot of favours. Does not look too far away on that one.
:38:03. > :38:08.I'm trying to think if he has put one behind. I would be surprised if
:38:09. > :38:11.he has. He has to change under the forehand to try to make a
:38:12. > :38:16.difference. He started there and it did not work for him. Concentrating
:38:17. > :38:22.on pushing the first bowl through the head. He knows all these things.
:38:23. > :38:34.He will be working through it with himself in his head.
:38:35. > :38:40.Once again the bowl is dropping away. Any extension of the jack
:38:41. > :39:16.through is in favour of red. One red. He did not like that
:39:17. > :39:23.getting away. That usually means he is pretty close, to be truthful. It
:39:24. > :39:28.looked as if he had got it away heavy. He had. That is what first
:39:29. > :39:37.bowl needs to be if he is struggling with it. At least he can take a
:39:38. > :39:40.little bit of weight of. He is not quite sure what is going on because
:39:41. > :40:12.the pace is tricky. That is number one. Two red. It is
:40:13. > :40:16.in a difficult enough possession for Darren. If he wants to play a
:40:17. > :40:28.running bowl there is one available to him. Down there and come off the
:40:29. > :40:34.angle onto the other red bowl. The bowl on the angle is also good. That
:40:35. > :40:52.is what he is trying for. Build it across the line. Two shots, Greg
:40:53. > :41:05.Harlow. He pulled it across. Greg Harlow takes the two. He is in
:41:06. > :41:10.charge of this opening set. The guys will move on at quite a pace. It
:41:11. > :41:17.will only slow down a little bit in terms of time-outs. A very tight
:41:18. > :41:21.last few ends. Greg Harlow will be very happy to score a single here
:41:22. > :41:30.and wrap up the first date. He knows Darren will come back strong in the
:41:31. > :41:33.second. He took the opening set of the quarterfinal against Jonathan
:41:34. > :41:40.Ross. In the end saw him out comfortably. He took that 10-1. He
:41:41. > :41:52.lost the second set 9-3. Then he won the tie-break. It is a good opening
:41:53. > :41:55.bowl. Darren Burnett, can you find your way behind the DAC with your
:41:56. > :42:14.opening bowl? This looks much better. Through the jack that time.
:42:15. > :42:18.15 inches. When you are bowling short, players know it, when you
:42:19. > :42:21.find yourself constantly doing it you are telling yourself not to and
:42:22. > :42:27.sometimes you wonder what it would take to shift things, but sometimes
:42:28. > :42:35.a change of lens, change of mad, where you are standing, has to
:42:36. > :42:55.change. -- something. Greg just goes through.
:42:56. > :43:08.That is much more like Darren Burnett. Greg will not worry too
:43:09. > :43:12.much about it. He is in the habit of carrying his bowl up the rink. He is
:43:13. > :43:25.coming down for a look. This is well played. Of the red bowl. That is
:43:26. > :43:31.unusual. Players do not normally carry them all up. Years ago it used
:43:32. > :43:44.to be illegal. It would be taken of you. They change that rule a long
:43:45. > :43:48.time ago. They are heavy enough. Greg is happy enough to wander
:43:49. > :43:54.around with it. He is carrying it in his left hand. He keeps that weight
:43:55. > :44:02.right for whenever he transfers to the right hand. Good for
:44:03. > :44:12.concentration. A lot of people use a cloth for that as well. This needs
:44:13. > :44:19.to run a bit because the line is so good. It looked good all the way
:44:20. > :44:27.down in terms of the line. Another foot away. It is close. Slightly
:44:28. > :44:57.favours the green, but it is close. It is all about getting the right
:44:58. > :45:04.connection here. The crowd have responded. It is a good bowl. Darren
:45:05. > :45:07.would prefer to have that one back and not bother playing it than do
:45:08. > :45:14.that because Greg will be down at that on the forehand with weight.
:45:15. > :45:21.Yes, it is a tempting target, front inside edge of the mat, just needs a
:45:22. > :45:32.foot of green and that will dip into them. That moved a lot more than I
:45:33. > :45:40.thought it would. I thought it was better than that when it left his
:45:41. > :45:50.hand. All of a sudden Greg Harlow, who looked to have this wrapped up,
:45:51. > :45:58.could lose a full count. You would have put money on that one. He is
:45:59. > :46:03.very good on his forehand, Greg. All about the weight. If he has the
:46:04. > :46:14.weight he can catch his own bowls, but he has to be reaching. It must
:46:15. > :46:20.reach. That is a massive let off. Three shots, Darren Burnett. He is
:46:21. > :46:27.looking for a double and he does not have the last bowl. That one bowl
:46:28. > :46:30.could be very costly. In theory he would have settled for a three. In
:46:31. > :46:44.practice the four was there to be had. A good crowd inside the juror
:46:45. > :46:53.is Centre for the semifinal. -- Dewar's Centre.
:46:54. > :47:16.He is looking for a two to tie the set. Greg Harlow has had a couple of
:47:17. > :47:20.tight sets in previous semi-finals. All of a sudden Darren is starting
:47:21. > :47:27.to find his first bowl. A bit of concern here. He is probably smiling
:47:28. > :47:32.and asking why he was not doing that at the start. Just made the
:47:33. > :47:39.connection in time to keep himself involved in the set. Trekking
:47:40. > :48:08.through. Darren! The last end you followed it
:48:09. > :48:13.up with a second one, you have dropped it this time. You get the
:48:14. > :48:20.impression he might be going looking for this. He is. On his favourite
:48:21. > :48:24.forehand. You just see the movement up and down. There was a good
:48:25. > :48:28.target. He got his own bowl going through. He will not be desperately
:48:29. > :48:32.concerned about that because it stayed on the ring. He will
:48:33. > :48:54.definitely expect Darren to get this one close.
:48:55. > :49:11.A lovely view of the bowl coming in from that high camera. Back to draw
:49:12. > :49:16.again I think. He is coming up to have a look but surely he will go
:49:17. > :49:18.back to the draw. A good second is all he needs. He can afford to lose
:49:19. > :50:13.a single. It does not matter all he needs. He can afford to lose
:50:14. > :51:50.Second shot. That is what all he needs. He can afford to lose
:51:51. > :51:56.out two. Credit to Darren Burnett, five shots over the last two ends to
:51:57. > :52:03.tie the opening set. Yes, that's their shot for the four turned out
:52:04. > :52:06.to be costly in the end. Greg was right down the middle of that. It
:52:07. > :52:12.looked to me as if he was going to get two. Just the one. Signs that
:52:13. > :52:14.Darren is really coming into this match, especially with his first
:52:15. > :52:30.bowl last two or three ends. This set is winner takes all. There
:52:31. > :52:35.is the remote possibility of a tie because two tight sets are very
:52:36. > :52:44.rare. Greg Harlow has done that in the semifinal. Here in 2011. The
:52:45. > :52:53.first end was great and it went on from there. 9-9 in the opening set,
:52:54. > :52:58.7-7 in the second and Greg won 2-1 on the tie-break. It is possible.
:52:59. > :53:19.Both players dropping short with their first bowls.
:53:20. > :53:30.Over connection, but at least better there. I am not surprised that Greg
:53:31. > :53:33.has moved. He will be thinking he has to move at some stage and I
:53:34. > :53:49.might as well do it with this one, the second bowl.
:53:50. > :54:33.It is trekking on again. This is a big chance.
:54:34. > :54:44.Well done again. Good repeating. Darren is going to have to change to
:54:45. > :54:48.the forehand I would think. Just not nailing it all on the back and this
:54:49. > :55:08.end. Did the last time in this direction.
:55:09. > :55:16.He has indeed moved on to the forehand. He is certainly better
:55:17. > :55:28.with this one. He is still not going to make it. Two red. Darren would be
:55:29. > :55:36.wise to move to the forehand in this direction and next time to see how
:55:37. > :55:51.it goes. Keep a close eye on this one from Greg Harlow.
:55:52. > :56:07.Making the three. Comfortable. Two shots, Greg Harlow. Very well played
:56:08. > :56:14.by the Englishmen. Not put under too much pressure by Darren Burnett. A
:56:15. > :56:22.bit of a cheap three in many ways because Darren only had one decent
:56:23. > :56:23.bowl which was 14 inches away. At this level, a comfortable three to
:56:24. > :56:42.take. Jack length 29 metres. At this level
:56:43. > :56:46.if you can get a three and all you have done is draw in each of your
:56:47. > :56:48.bowls, that is to suggest your opponent is out, that is what
:56:49. > :57:42.happened there. Darren has got away with his
:57:43. > :57:47.problems on the backhand. Dropping two or three feet short on a regular
:57:48. > :57:51.basis but managed as of that problem, whatever it is. He has
:57:52. > :58:10.certainly put it to the back of his mind. Trying to encourage this one
:58:11. > :58:21.up. He has dropped it, but dropped it across on the forehand. Two
:58:22. > :58:28.inches. The last? Two and a half feet. He can get round it, but I
:58:29. > :58:35.think he will probably try to draw this. Sticking with the draw. Two
:58:36. > :58:39.and a half feet, of that had been 18 inches it might have been different.
:58:40. > :58:51.He knows he has enough room to get round this and get back to the jack.
:58:52. > :59:01.That is a great effort. It has dropped back. It has to be close.
:59:02. > :59:08.Very close. Falling back was key here. Darren is coming up for a
:59:09. > :59:13.look. He will have to take a time-out. It was leaning up against
:59:14. > :59:20.the other red bowl. That makes a difference. Called a time-out.
:59:21. > :59:29.Darren has three time-outs remaining. Plenty of time-outs left.
:59:30. > :59:43.Playing the second end of the second set in 19 ends. There is no reason
:59:44. > :59:52.to change his hand -- nine. It is still available. He has moved on to
:59:53. > :59:55.the forehand. He has to be a little bit careful. The only thing about
:59:56. > :00:06.the forehand as if he drops a little bit short it will block Greg on the
:00:07. > :00:15.way in. Has to be gentle. Good stuff. That has changed the angle of
:00:16. > :00:19.things. Instead of the green bowl coming in and locking to his red
:00:20. > :00:21.bowl he might be tempted to have a pop at this if the shot is against
:00:22. > :00:35.him. The two could disappear and he would
:00:36. > :00:41.be left with two, maybe three. Sticking to the draw. Darren has got
:00:42. > :00:50.one bowl left, and that is probably a major factor in the decision.
:00:51. > :00:58.It also might be that he favours his lie in this shot. I agree. I think
:00:59. > :01:05.you would. I think that he has got it close. But if he thought that was
:01:06. > :01:14.against him, he would have had to come into it. A perfect shot for
:01:15. > :01:18.Darren, drop-down on the bias and make it three. Available either
:01:19. > :01:29.side. An iron should be enough to make
:01:30. > :01:32.sure. And he is OK as long as he is reaching. -- a nudge should be
:01:33. > :01:51.enough. He played it well. You don't need to worry about taking
:01:52. > :02:00.out the other red bowl. You can just leave the two and measure it. This
:02:01. > :02:09.bowl dropping down. That is the shot. Alan saying, don't worry about
:02:10. > :02:17.wedging it. It's not worth the trouble when you are using calipers.
:02:18. > :02:30.A very precise measurement. There is nothing more precise than using
:02:31. > :02:34.these things. It is really close but it is gracing the green bowl from
:02:35. > :02:44.there. I don't think this other one is going to be in. That is also very
:02:45. > :02:57.close. It could be two. Going back to check against the red. Just
:02:58. > :03:10.enough of a nudge. I am not sure we have had a neck we Distin one this
:03:11. > :03:15.week. -- Equi distant one. An excellent last bowl from Darren
:03:16. > :03:26.Burnett. A lot of pressure on TV bowls. Puts a lot of scrutiny onto
:03:27. > :03:30.the umpires. A different professional attitude nowadays,
:03:31. > :03:34.compared to how it was years ago when people would be in official
:03:35. > :03:40.positions and they would want to mark an umpire. I remember one
:03:41. > :03:50.umpire making a decision on a vital match, pushing away the wrong bowl.
:03:51. > :03:55.That would have been taken well (!) Nobody knew about it. They moved
:03:56. > :04:04.onto another umpire. Nothing you could do. End of story, just on. It
:04:05. > :04:16.happens. -- just move on. But not nowadays, when these guys are very,
:04:17. > :04:20.very good. The quality of the opening bowl for Darren Burnett has
:04:21. > :04:32.skyrocketed over the last few ends and he will be happy with that.
:04:33. > :04:41.The jack a little shorter than it has been previously.
:04:42. > :04:56.Can you move past the jack and push the red bowl? It is still good.
:04:57. > :05:34.Nice and narrow. Just watch this one. That will change things. Well
:05:35. > :05:45.played. Darren Burnett will want to look here. And it just locked itself
:05:46. > :05:49.against the green bowl. Darren might be tempted with this on the
:05:50. > :05:54.forehand. A little touch on the back and will open things up. On the
:05:55. > :06:07.forehand, that should drop the red bowl down. Darren has two time-outs
:06:08. > :06:15.remaining. What Darren is looking adhere, if he gets a connection,
:06:16. > :06:19.will the jack actually move? He doesn't want to do that under the
:06:20. > :06:23.circumstances. He wants the bowl to move out clean. He does not want any
:06:24. > :06:45.movement on the jack. That is the harder of the two shots,
:06:46. > :06:57.I think. The weight that he has to use. The bowl could easily have run
:06:58. > :07:11.off the edge of the rink. I think it's OK.
:07:12. > :07:19.Greg try to take that shot away by turning the jack. And he has. He has
:07:20. > :07:28.taken the shot away. Even if Darren hits this, the jack will move. Greg
:07:29. > :07:36.has one waiting. Two bowls will disappear and the jack will
:07:37. > :07:40.definitely go. Two of the best consecutive bowls from a player we
:07:41. > :07:50.have seen all week. More full-blooded this time. I'm lucky.
:07:51. > :08:01.He had to hit it, probably close to fool, to make it work perfectly for
:08:02. > :08:08.him. He just got a quarter bowl. Yes, exactly. Painful. It is not
:08:09. > :08:17.going to be easy for Greg to make another one here.
:08:18. > :08:36.You would understand if it is a little carry on this. Darren was
:08:37. > :08:56.clapping that all the way in. The trick is to try to hold onto it.
:08:57. > :09:05.What a great shot this was. In the game, turned back. Three shots
:09:06. > :10:18.drawn. -- in he came. Darren Burnett needs three.
:10:19. > :10:31.Just slightly on the inside of it. The wait was good.
:10:32. > :10:40.Five inches short, jack high. That will not look tidy in the backhand.
:10:41. > :10:43.Hence the move to the forehand. No point in pushing in the bowl that is
:10:44. > :10:56.slightly shot into a better position. -- slightly shot.
:10:57. > :11:28.Greg will be reaching this time, turning the jack.
:11:29. > :11:45.Just looked under as he came into the head. Sting on the forehand.
:11:46. > :11:51.Ideally, you would like to comment but he is just trying to come into
:11:52. > :11:54.the back here. I think he was trying to make sure of getting around his
:11:55. > :12:01.own bowl, but the shot is still there. If he turns this jack
:12:02. > :12:07.absolutely right, he makes a very good three. The trouble is, you
:12:08. > :12:30.really don't want to leave those shots. If he gets the bowl first,
:12:31. > :12:31.that's different. He has got the shot but without the touch, he was
:12:32. > :12:32.making the turnaround for three or four. 6-2, not desperately different
:12:33. > :12:35.delete my disappointing, but you know that if he had turned the jack,
:12:36. > :13:08.you could have nailed down the set. Danger here for him. An interesting
:13:09. > :13:21.choice of shot. He made it. Very risky playing that shot. I wondered
:13:22. > :13:30.what I had seen him play. Using the Red bowl to take the other one. He
:13:31. > :13:40.was looking for that to go through. A creative shot. He did not want
:13:41. > :13:44.Greg Harlow getting further away. He came back from a 5 shot deficit.
:13:45. > :14:12.Just wanted to try that trick again. The jack is about three feet longer
:14:13. > :15:03.than the last time. Look at this. Just from the draw.
:15:04. > :16:50.Played it very well. He did not go hunting for it.
:16:51. > :16:57.the importance of the second bowl. He got himself behind. And in the
:16:58. > :17:00.bowl was in the receiving position. He would have looked to see if the
:17:01. > :17:07.jack was moving and hopes to get it just right. A grimace from Darren.
:17:08. > :17:25.You can't blame him, to be truthful. The movement of the jack made it
:17:26. > :17:34.very hard for him. That is 18 inches away. The front bowl is between 12
:17:35. > :17:41.and 14 inches away. When you think how this end started, the three
:17:42. > :17:46.bowls from Darren Burnett tucked inside, the value of the forehand
:17:47. > :17:51.runner from Greg Harlow, but can he convert to make its two.
:17:52. > :18:33.Greg Harlow in control at the moment but we said that in the last set and
:18:34. > :18:44.Darren Burnett found five shots. A heck of a trick to repeat.
:18:45. > :19:09.Greg Harlow, scoring well. And scoring heavily. 23s Andy two. --
:19:10. > :19:15.two 3s and a two. He picked up a 2 and a single. He needs to score
:19:16. > :19:24.again to keep himself in touch. He has sorted out his back and again,
:19:25. > :19:39.really quickly. Getting very close every time.
:19:40. > :19:49.Greg Harlow looking for his fourth Scottish International Open final.
:19:50. > :20:01.And there is the man that they will play. Jason Greenslade, what a week
:20:02. > :20:07.he has had. He played so well in the final. It justified his decision to
:20:08. > :20:18.play in this event. Getting all the way through. People should be
:20:19. > :20:22.delighted back home. Relying on John Price and Robert Whelan for a long
:20:23. > :20:28.time, but this man has come out of the shadows over the years. To take
:20:29. > :20:37.over that mantle from those two the great players.
:20:38. > :20:45.Greg has one time-out remaining. A time-out called. Jason Greenslade
:20:46. > :20:49.was due to be flying to Australia. To be part of the Champion of
:20:50. > :20:57.champions event as the singles winner from Wales. But with a chance
:20:58. > :21:03.on the professional circuit here, and he backed himself... He probably
:21:04. > :21:08.was not expecting to make it to the final but now he has and he has
:21:09. > :21:16.played very well in doing it. Greg on the forehand. Looking to rest
:21:17. > :21:41.into his own bowl. Two chances. And he is very close. It's going to fall
:21:42. > :21:50.back. They could be. -- it could be. More than likely Darren will be back
:21:51. > :21:57.on the back can now. -- backhand. Aiming for the last red bowl. Don't
:21:58. > :22:09.worry about the jack too much. But he needs to hurry. If Greg plays the
:22:10. > :22:37.same bowl, you will drop on the green one.
:22:38. > :22:51.Solid on his own. That should do it. That was the second option if he
:22:52. > :22:59.does not want to get to the jack. It is always a good bowl to play. Worth
:23:00. > :23:10.his while coming through on the forehand, possible to take all three
:23:11. > :23:23.red bowls out. It is a result here, for the Commonwealth champion. On
:23:24. > :23:39.the green. Respond. Could be read, could be green. -- respot. He got
:23:40. > :23:52.the hit, but in the end it did not make things better or worse. Chasing
:23:53. > :24:03.three and seven and that is not easy. It looks like Greg Harlow is
:24:04. > :24:12.easing his way into the final. The winner here in 2008. Twice a
:24:13. > :24:38.runner-up. 2003 against Ian Bond and Robert Paxton. Beaten in 2011.
:24:39. > :24:54.Several pivotal bowls in this match. And one came at the last end this
:24:55. > :25:45.way. A cracking bowl. Managed to hit when there were three against them.
:25:46. > :25:52.Trying to pack this head as much as he can, not wanting to give Darren
:25:53. > :26:21.the opportunity to pick up a count. Not disappointed at losing a single.
:26:22. > :26:55.The jack of the Red bowl. Might make a double. A little nudge. A big
:26:56. > :26:58.difference. Greg has one bowl left. He calls a time-out, giving us a
:26:59. > :27:07.chance to look at what his options are. If he has got the option, if he
:27:08. > :27:10.really wants it, to come down on the forehand, but personally, I think he
:27:11. > :27:17.will come on the backhand and just draw that. He doesn't really want to
:27:18. > :27:23.offer up a chance of something going wrong, he comes in on the forehand,
:27:24. > :27:31.and it is possible that one bowl will walk in and he could take the
:27:32. > :28:09.closest one out. Will he get down in time.
:28:10. > :28:25.He has pushed it out into a good line. Working his way back, Darren
:28:26. > :28:30.Burnett. One heck of a bowl from Darren Burnett. And again he has
:28:31. > :29:00.worked his way back into the set. That was a massive bowl. A
:29:01. > :29:09.confidence inspiring bowl. It all gets very interesting. Pretty simple
:29:10. > :29:13.start-up. Greg Harlow scores at this end. It is all over. You would
:29:14. > :29:22.think, because he's not going to concede a four. Once again, it is up
:29:23. > :29:26.to Darren Burnett to keep punching through and keep the pressure on,
:29:27. > :29:27.dropped the first one and expect Greg to walk in through the and put
:29:28. > :29:40.this one close. Darren went in two down and got a
:29:41. > :29:46.double, then a trouble, and one taken away from him. He would very
:29:47. > :30:07.much settle for one or two in this end.
:30:08. > :30:17.The crowd are urging this one to run away.
:30:18. > :30:33.Last bowl. The gap is 13 inches. That will save time. The rules are
:30:34. > :30:40.slightly different. Most of the time you answer exactly what the question
:30:41. > :30:44.is. It helps if they gave doubled the information. It saves an extra
:30:45. > :31:00.question and saves time for the player. It is close. One macro
:31:01. > :31:08.green. I can almost see your chest moving out there.
:31:09. > :31:15.Personally, I would like to see a tie-break. The sort of game that
:31:16. > :31:34.deserves it. Here it comes. Again, Greg will be thinking, one
:31:35. > :31:40.shot is not such a big problem. Any more than one and that is different.
:31:41. > :31:49.On the forehand he will be playing weight. Yes, he is. It is a target
:31:50. > :31:54.for him. He does like his runners. Past the front one. He will blast
:31:55. > :32:00.it. What a result at this stage in the match! He has hit that bowl
:32:01. > :32:11.three feet away and taken the two shots away. He is lying one shot,
:32:12. > :32:15.virtually a match life. His hand goes up to acknowledge. These things
:32:16. > :32:27.come and go. Both bands are actually. He realised that was a bad
:32:28. > :32:35.one. It happens. It is just the timing sometimes. Nothing else. Is
:32:36. > :32:47.Darren reaching enough? That was a good bowl. Greg, what are you going
:32:48. > :32:56.to do about this? He was very good. He only has one bowl. He has to be
:32:57. > :33:04.very careful. The position is more or less against him. That is why he
:33:05. > :33:07.has had to take his time on it. The backhand, that is interesting. You
:33:08. > :33:14.can very much understand him trying to draw on this. The running for
:33:15. > :33:22.taking out the red, that would be a disaster. He is close, isn't he? He
:33:23. > :33:27.just needs an edge of the jack. He got an edge of the bowl. The edge of
:33:28. > :33:37.the jack was enough for a single and the edge of the bowl put him off. As
:33:38. > :33:44.it was, after eight ends in the opening set, it is after eight ends
:33:45. > :33:50.in the second. 9-7 to Greg Harlow. That just ebbed and flowed. The
:33:51. > :33:56.final end seed Darren Burnett needing to macro shots. Greg Harlow
:33:57. > :34:06.has the advantage of the last bowl. -- needing two shots. Great relief
:34:07. > :34:13.for people watching on from the players balcony. Not always watching
:34:14. > :34:19.on. Sometimes it is hard look. Not the destruction of the kids. Lindsay
:34:20. > :34:25.has been kept pretty busy, I am sure.
:34:26. > :34:35.I thought I noticed Ryan up there as well! I could not tell for sure.
:34:36. > :34:50.That is as good as you could hope for.
:34:51. > :35:03.Back in 2011, I mentioned it. I think Harlow Drew both sets against
:35:04. > :35:09.Robert where in the semifinal. He just got over the seam. The bowl ran
:35:10. > :35:18.on a bit afterwards. Just given the extra inch or two of running. It can
:35:19. > :35:25.work for you and against you. There has to be on a carpet like this, no
:35:26. > :35:33.other way around it. Darren looks slightly and it. That is the seam.
:35:34. > :35:38.The problem for Darren if he needs to. He will have to play a very
:35:39. > :35:47.difficult shop to make a double act of this. -- shot.
:35:48. > :35:56.He is trotting up and down. I'm not sure how many time out he has had.
:35:57. > :36:08.He certainly has one left, possibly two. That is what I thought. I think
:36:09. > :36:13.he would have used a time-out if he had not already decided to go a
:36:14. > :36:17.little bit on the deep side. He knew exactly where. If he was trying to
:36:18. > :36:22.draw it, it would have been different. That is a good position
:36:23. > :36:35.or bowl. Once again, not too far away from the jack. He could draw on
:36:36. > :36:42.the backhand and tap the bowl down. This is hard. This is so difficult
:36:43. > :36:53.to play. If he plays this, shot of the day no doubt! He has given this
:36:54. > :36:59.a chance. Yes, just did not fall the right way. He got it at little bit
:37:00. > :37:05.early. The disappointment was there because he knew he was in with a big
:37:06. > :37:10.chance for that one. He just hit it a fraction early. Otherwise his bowl
:37:11. > :37:18.would have turned into the jack. Disappointment! One macro green.
:37:19. > :37:28.Harlow has the advantage of two bowls to play. His opponent one.
:37:29. > :37:35.Also he has a nice shoulder to use, if he can get back in time to it
:37:36. > :37:50.comes, here it comes now. It is not a short but, my goodness me, it
:37:51. > :37:57.might as well be! He has it down. He has left it very tight, the angle at
:37:58. > :38:03.the front. The trouble is, the other red bowl, this is where the
:38:04. > :38:07.difficulty comes in. The bowl that is crucial here is this one. That
:38:08. > :38:13.bowl is going to keep the bowl beside it, the red one in place. He
:38:14. > :38:19.is looking at the split. When he he knows one Red Bull stay in. The
:38:20. > :38:23.ideal shot would be to get into the inside edge off that one and then
:38:24. > :38:28.you force your way through the gap into the jack to make to you, maybe
:38:29. > :38:36.three. The problem with the forehand is if you drop back on the jack it
:38:37. > :38:46.is gone. He might still be forced to play this but, goodness me, this is
:38:47. > :38:52.a hard shot. He has been in a fair number of pickles in the past. What
:38:53. > :39:00.can he do? He is looking for the split. Can he make it through? The
:39:01. > :39:05.jack has gone too far. For a brief second, he thought he had done it.
:39:06. > :39:09.But the jack travelled to the second, he thought he had done it.
:39:10. > :41:57.bowl. Greg get them in, it was fantastic to
:41:58. > :42:05.watch the match. I only started playing when I was so far down. That
:42:06. > :42:15.was disappointing. I was trying to get another 999. Not to be. Call the
:42:16. > :42:21.emergency services. There was a shot with your final shot at the end
:42:22. > :42:28.which let Darren in. It was a turning point in that set. That was
:42:29. > :42:35.at the end of the first set. I thought I had the split but I got a
:42:36. > :42:42.bad contact. I was looking to get to a way to win the set. He got me
:42:43. > :42:47.under the pump. You should not really drop them. When Darren was
:42:48. > :42:53.piling them in, I was happy to get a draw. Big conversion shorts on where
:42:54. > :43:01.you got through to the semifinal on the last round. You both had to do
:43:02. > :43:07.big ones today. I was disappointed with myself. You put yourself under
:43:08. > :43:14.a lot of pressure. I was delighted. I dug deep but I came up short
:43:15. > :43:21.today. You had your third bowl in the fifth and to turn things around
:43:22. > :43:29.and give yourself a big advantage. Probably that was my best end of the
:43:30. > :43:42.match. I hit it on the nose. I had a good reaction. A very fortunate
:43:43. > :43:48.result. Not such a good reaction from you when you saw the jack
:43:49. > :43:54.running on to his bowl. He was hitting the target. Some days you
:43:55. > :44:02.get those and some days you do not. A bit of jack movement and it went
:44:03. > :44:08.to the red bowl. Millimetres were the difference between you in this
:44:09. > :44:18.match. The final bowl and it was so close. I was left with the split,
:44:19. > :44:24.which I had got. Sadly it moved. You have put the bowl is in there to
:44:25. > :44:29.cause pressure in the first place. I had a good second. If I could get
:44:30. > :44:35.another one in he would have nowhere to go. He got the split perfectly.
:44:36. > :44:41.He would have laid two, possibly three and I would have had a naughty
:44:42. > :44:48.last bowl to play. We thought you were going to have both the sets.
:44:49. > :44:52.You are through to the final. You are plaguing Jason Greenslade
:44:53. > :44:58.tomorrow. He has been getting all the business, hasn't he? To be fair,
:44:59. > :45:03.Jason is playing very well. He is drawing good and pulling out the big
:45:04. > :45:08.shots as and when he needs to. Hopefully it will be as good a match
:45:09. > :45:16.as the two semifinals today. We will see tomorrow. It was great stuff.
:45:17. > :45:28.You have been sensational this week. Well done. I will tell you
:45:29. > :45:34.something, that file will be pretty impressive. It is live here tomorrow
:45:35. > :45:39.on BBC Two Scotland. Earlier today we had the Scottish young bowlers
:45:40. > :45:44.final between Stephen Lowry and Craig Macintosh. It was Craig
:45:45. > :45:54.Mackintosh who took the first set 10-4. Then Stephen Lowry rallied and
:45:55. > :46:35.one mount by 12-3. Let's join the match for the tie-break.
:46:36. > :46:47.He is playing this backhand well. That will not help Craig at all. He
:46:48. > :46:55.is trying to move. It looks like a narrow line at this length. It just
:46:56. > :47:12.needs to be a bit further. The wait was not that bad. The green bowl is
:47:13. > :47:21.two feet, the red bowl is 18 inches. The voice of Tom Ware.
:47:22. > :47:36.Note shot clock for this final. We have enough to content with out
:47:37. > :47:49.there without that. He is going to come down and have a look.
:47:50. > :47:59.He will not like what he sees. He might be tempted with a backhand
:48:00. > :48:06.runner but I do not think it is right. Just needs a slight
:48:07. > :48:10.correction. He is looking at the running bowl. Even if he did take
:48:11. > :48:17.one out there is normally two against him. The tie-break and it is
:48:18. > :48:30.not just a matter of humility that shots. The forehand looks like a
:48:31. > :48:38.better option to me. -- cumulative shots. He has been tempted with the
:48:39. > :48:44.runner. It is definitely in the area. It is just about connections.
:48:45. > :48:55.I do not believe it. That will bowl in. If that drops in, it will be the
:48:56. > :49:00.shot. To say it is a fluke will be an understatement. That will change
:49:01. > :49:11.things. It gives him a really good option. The red misses the jack. His
:49:12. > :49:22.own green bowl comes through. I think it still might be the red. It
:49:23. > :49:40.is close. That was played with very difficult weight. That will not help
:49:41. > :49:48.the forehand. He has the best back position. It will be hard to draw it
:49:49. > :49:54.after the running bowl. This is not easy. The bowl on the jack would
:49:55. > :49:58.give him an opportunity. Chances are he is going to more than Mike Leigh
:49:59. > :50:03.hit his own bowl. If he does want to play through it he can do that
:50:04. > :50:23.there. It would work. His mind is made up. He is going to
:50:24. > :50:36.try to mix and match. It has gone all the way through. First end
:50:37. > :50:47.Stephen Lowry. That was a good option to play for. It was the right
:50:48. > :50:54.option to play. It is hard watching on from the sidelines. It really is
:50:55. > :51:01.very difficult to have your parents sitting there, your family and your
:51:02. > :51:12.brother. He is trying to get the balance between showing support but,
:51:13. > :51:20.at the same time, it is difficult. He needs a good first bowl. He needs
:51:21. > :51:30.to transfer the pressure back on to Stephen Lowry. Craig Mackintosh gets
:51:31. > :51:43.it away. There is a lovely structure for these guys. They will be in the
:51:44. > :51:48.mix looking at what their priorities are over the next number of years.
:51:49. > :51:52.If they are showing this much interest at this early age, you
:51:53. > :52:01.fully expect them to be about for the high-level stuff. Stephen
:52:02. > :52:09.already is an under 17 international player. Craig turned his back on his
:52:10. > :52:17.first one and realised he was way through. Better with this one. He
:52:18. > :52:23.wants it to move. That is the shot. Win or lose in this situation both
:52:24. > :52:28.these pairs will be looked at very carefully by the development side.
:52:29. > :52:36.They are always looking for young players to come through that route.
:52:37. > :52:48.A bit of extra tuition for them. Good stuff. It will be hard to beat.
:52:49. > :52:57.He is asking permission to come up after the second bowl. He is not in
:52:58. > :53:04.any hurry, is he? He just wonders up there. There he goes. Not a care in
:53:05. > :53:09.the world. I will get there eventually, it will be good. I bet
:53:10. > :53:14.you he is a winner or something playing football and he goes like
:53:15. > :53:21.greased lightning. He can relax in terms of pace back his mind will be
:53:22. > :53:27.racing at the moment. He is deep in thought. Now he has decided on the
:53:28. > :53:32.way back what shot to play, the draw all the running bowl. He can oversee
:53:33. > :53:41.play the running bowl. He has sat in his armoury. -- he can obviously
:53:42. > :53:50.play. He got that the way absolutely sweet. He has been caught again.
:53:51. > :53:52.That does not really matter. He will be left with one bowl. That was not
:53:53. > :54:07.far away. This should be going deep. One hand
:54:08. > :54:13.on the trophy. That is why he was worried about it. It is in the
:54:14. > :54:21.ditch. The shot is still available for Craig. I can are playing in a
:54:22. > :54:29.final and the article came out. I actually won it but it was the other
:54:30. > :54:33.chap who got all the applause. They said how well he would do in the
:54:34. > :54:37.future. As it happened he gave up the game in a year and we heard no
:54:38. > :54:43.more. The point is, when all is, you can come through this system and you
:54:44. > :54:51.can be seen. You get a lot of recognition for this.
:54:52. > :55:04.A calm demeanour. He gets it away. That was beautiful. Second end for
:55:05. > :55:11.the match to Stephen Lowrie. Very good sportsmanship.
:55:12. > :55:25.Stephen Lowrie, normally in the first set he did so well to recover
:55:26. > :55:28.in the second. A terrific tie-break, calmly done by Stephen Lowrie.
:55:29. > :55:41.Stephen Lowrie is the Scottish indoor bowl winner for 2016. Unlucky
:55:42. > :55:44.for Craig Mackintosh. A fine performance from him. Stephen Lowrie
:55:45. > :55:56.was the man who lifted the silver platter. He is the Scottish champion
:55:57. > :56:01.2015. Congratulations to him. Earlier we found at who would be in
:56:02. > :56:06.the final of the Scottish International open. It is Greg
:56:07. > :56:12.Harlow against Jason Greenslade. The final is alive tomorrow on be with
:56:13. > :56:19.you to Scotland at 1:55 p.m.. -- is alive.
:56:20. > :56:27.It is Wales against England. Two Scots players have been knocked out
:56:28. > :56:37.today. The home fans are not happy but the two best players won. It was
:56:38. > :56:40.very close. Stu Anderson was wonderful in the other semifinal. He
:56:41. > :56:46.played so well. Jason just got over the line. A couple of strikes with
:56:47. > :56:50.Greg made all the difference, it really did. On another day, couple
:56:51. > :56:55.of strikes go against you. Swings and roundabouts for the season. Greg
:56:56. > :57:02.is through Jason is three. It will be a great final. Darren Burnett
:57:03. > :57:11.yesterday in the quarterfinals. Any kind of way to put on, he nailed it.
:57:12. > :57:18.Just millimetres outside today. I also have great respect for Darren.
:57:19. > :57:23.He is operating as a policeman and he was in court this morning. All
:57:24. > :57:27.these things are going on and, at the same time, he can still go out
:57:28. > :57:32.and play great bowls for the same time, he can still go out and play
:57:33. > :57:37.great bowls Jason Greenslade has just been going ahead and keeping
:57:38. > :57:45.nice and quiet. He has been doing really well. Another one of these
:57:46. > :57:52.games where, who will hit the weight shots? I have watched Greg and
:57:53. > :57:56.played against him many times. His forehand shots may not be on target
:57:57. > :58:08.but he usually gets the result. He is usually in the area. He does not
:58:09. > :58:11.miss shots a foot wide. That final will be live tomorrow. Before that
:58:12. > :58:19.we have highlights of both the semifinals. The final will be at
:58:20. > :58:22.12:55pm on BBC Two. It has been another wonderful day of bowls that
:58:23. > :58:27.Jason Greenslade and Greg Harlow had been the best two players, the best
:58:28. > :58:28.players for the whole week. They will be towed to toe tomorrow. Join
