:00:08. > :00:45.It was time for the ladies to take centre stage as two former champions

:00:46. > :00:53.faced off at Potters for the women's singles title. Rebecca Field and

:00:54. > :00:58.Faulkner have tasted winning beforement action from the lady's

:00:59. > :01:02.final coming right up. Yes, hello, welcome to highlights from the

:01:03. > :01:09.lady's singles final at the World Indoor Bowls Championships at the

:01:10. > :01:14.poth ter's Leisure resort. It's lady's first tonight. And first up -

:01:15. > :01:19.Ellen Falkner, 36-year-old, two-time winner of this title and she's

:01:20. > :01:26.hoping to get her hands on it after a 10-year absence. She's up against

:01:27. > :01:32.Rebecca Field who won this trophy three years ago, at just 23 years of

:01:33. > :01:49.age. We're going to stage with Rebecca leading.

:01:50. > :02:31.APPLAUSE Sent that one up on the mark all

:02:32. > :02:47.right Two perfect bowls. Yes, three inches short of jack.

:02:48. > :02:59.Another useful one. Better than useful. She falls in. A smile from

:03:00. > :03:14.Rebecca. I think she knows she's playing well. That eases the tension

:03:15. > :03:20.and pressure. Last night it got scrappy towards the end, but, well,

:03:21. > :03:24.this is a difficult head for Ellen. She really can't do much with this.

:03:25. > :03:30.Almost having to go for cover and defend the shot. And why she's just

:03:31. > :03:35.tried to drop around her ball. Again, it's a useful bowl. It's hard

:03:36. > :03:40.to believe that even at this stage she's very vulnerable, but that ball

:03:41. > :03:46.going out and the jack being turned. Rebecca has basically got all the

:03:47. > :03:51.play here. She's gone chasing the inside line, Andy. She won't hold up

:03:52. > :04:06.then. No, definitely not. Big swinging balls and... Didn't have

:04:07. > :04:09.the set of balls for size. There was a set set up to her. But changed

:04:10. > :04:12.colour. The manufacturer actually agreed to make a set and get them

:04:13. > :04:28.sent up. Good, good for them. Yeah. Well, once again - Ellen just

:04:29. > :04:35.staying away from it. I tell you what - she's a bit closer than I

:04:36. > :04:42.think she wanted to be. Well, oh! Mmm, that's set up the angle. A very

:04:43. > :04:48.good shot on here. In fact, if anything, Andy, that's really

:04:49. > :04:52.helped. Yes. A poor ball from Ellen. I don't think she wanted it there.

:04:53. > :04:57.This gives Rebecca a chance to use her last ball. She can force it

:04:58. > :05:03.through a bit if she wants it stun off the ball or be a bit wider and

:05:04. > :05:08.come off the edge. A loss closer this time. She's very close. And she

:05:09. > :05:11.might be using Ellen's ball. There's the stun, Thailand's the jack.

:05:12. > :05:22.Exactly. I'm afraid Ellen - that was your own doing. Yep. I think it's 1

:05:23. > :05:27.degree. Could have been a lot worse. See Rebecca playing about four or

:05:28. > :05:32.five feet away, uses the ball, moves the jack. If she played down and got

:05:33. > :05:44.the ball and then the jack, could have been three. Ellen being on the

:05:45. > :05:48.time-out. A shot available. A lot of danger here. I think she can afford

:05:49. > :05:53.to play through this - Ellen. I don't see a lot of danger. I think

:05:54. > :05:57.what she's looking at is getting into the red ball, Andy - because if

:05:58. > :06:03.she does that and gets into the jack, she can extend it down to this

:06:04. > :06:06.position. Only danger I see for her is coming off at some sort of an

:06:07. > :06:10.angle on the red and her bottom red ball disappearing. But it looks

:06:11. > :06:15.completely hidden to me. I can't her getting a bad result by hitting this

:06:16. > :06:19.target. It's all in her favour. Basically just hit the target and I

:06:20. > :06:24.think she'll score here. Famous last words! LAUGHS.

:06:25. > :06:32.Well, backhand split will be bad but we'll see. Yep, going for it. We'll

:06:33. > :06:37.see the result. Front ball is perfect result. Yep. That was it.

:06:38. > :06:41.And it looked good and she's going to come out with four shots. What a

:06:42. > :06:44.brilliant turnover. We knew it was possible. It's exactly what

:06:45. > :06:51.happened. Absolutely perfect. That's what I thought. Just couldn't see it

:06:52. > :06:57.going wrong for her. Four shots - Ellen Falkner. There's a big turn

:06:58. > :07:08.around now. She's been accurate with her driving in this event. Set scour

:07:09. > :07:11.9-7. Very good shot player. It's a massive at that stage. Ninth end is

:07:12. > :07:16.always critical. Yes, especially. She was two down. One down on the

:07:17. > :07:19.head. Looking to probably struggle to win this set. However, the four

:07:20. > :07:31.gives her a big chance of whipping it. 28.5m. Well, all of a sudden,

:07:32. > :08:21.Ellen has gone favourite now. APPLAUSE

:08:22. > :08:27.Be looking to get one or two here. 12 inches. Either one behind or

:08:28. > :08:31.level. Yeah, after the disappointment at the last end,

:08:32. > :08:33.that's a good delivery from Rebecca. She would have been stunned

:08:34. > :08:42.slightly. That's the adjustment. Might just

:08:43. > :09:11.hold up for the shot. Slightly favour your bowl. It's

:09:12. > :09:42.close. Wow! She's left herself just a

:09:43. > :09:49.little bit open here. Gentleman yes. Chance for Rebecca, to - well, we're

:09:50. > :09:53.uncertain as to whose line, but at least 14 inches to draw the shot.

:09:54. > :09:58.Looks like the winner coming in. And gets in front of the jack, Andy, and

:09:59. > :10:03.could make three. Yes, she can. That was perfect. That was created by

:10:04. > :10:05.Ellen's last ball, it was dropped short. And Rebecca will be

:10:06. > :10:09.absolutely delighted with that. There's no way of getting out of

:10:10. > :10:12.this one - a running ball. Here we see Rebecca's third delivery.

:10:13. > :10:26.Touches the jack. Scores three. Perfect ball. Yes, she was happy

:10:27. > :10:35.with that. Timeout called. Ellen has three time-outs remaining. Well. No

:10:36. > :10:40.running ball here on for Ellen. A lot of pressure on it. She's a good

:10:41. > :10:46.strong bias ball. Push it out, give it a chance to get back. It's a long

:10:47. > :10:50.jack length. But she drives the shot, it almost guarantees her the

:10:51. > :10:53.set. But if she misses, well, she's in all sorts of trubling going into

:10:54. > :11:21.the last end. Doesn't want to be too heavy but

:11:22. > :11:26.she's in with a chance here. Doesn't want the gap here. Bowl first. Oh,

:11:27. > :11:27.dropped back for the shot. That was brilliant. Absolutely brilliant

:11:28. > :11:31.ball! APPLAUSE

:11:32. > :11:39.Under pressure, and it looks like the shot to us. Certainly the shot.

:11:40. > :11:44.One red. Oh, that was just a great bowl, really. It is, Andy. I thought

:11:45. > :11:48.she was going through the gap, wanted the ball first, missed that

:11:49. > :11:52.and then she got the drop back. Rebecca will be down in the

:11:53. > :11:58.forehand, she's got a chance to turn the ball out and still make the

:11:59. > :12:01.three or four. Well, this is a hard shot, Andy. It might be worth going

:12:02. > :12:11.stronger. I think she's got to go stronger. Yep, she is. Oh, the body

:12:12. > :12:14.language tells you it's not right! Well, she's not finished yet! She

:12:15. > :12:19.knew that out of her hand it wasn't on the right line. Was hoping for a

:12:20. > :12:25.bit of luck. It's a great ball by Ellen, though. Two last bowls

:12:26. > :12:27.delivery by Ellen, previous end and this end, that are strong favourite

:12:28. > :12:31.for the set. APPLAUSE

:12:32. > :13:09.Set score - 10-7 after 10 ends. Oh, I was going to say - I thought

:13:10. > :13:13.that one had gone. Yeah. Scoot over the top of the carpet and very, very

:13:14. > :13:19.quickly. A lot of players have been caught out with that. The margin for

:13:20. > :13:24.error is obviously greater than in a normal game. This is a three metres,

:13:25. > :13:34.so you'd expect the players to be able throw it full length. I used to

:13:35. > :13:40.remember playing with a two metres tee. This is a three metres tee.

:13:41. > :13:45.That was a wonderful start. Yes, it was moved to a three metres tee to

:13:46. > :13:50.allow the spots to go into better position. Whenever they were

:13:51. > :13:58.introduced to move from a two metres to a three metres. Years ago, it

:13:59. > :14:12.used to be 6ft. Yes. For those who were brought up in a metric world.

:14:13. > :14:18.Well, after Ellen's opening delivery, she doesn't need to build

:14:19. > :14:24.this head up. Yes, that's a good bowl.

:14:25. > :14:30.APPLAUSE Looks like all the weight has been

:14:31. > :15:04.taken off her, the last bowl. Yes, two big last bowls.

:15:05. > :15:11.It's a cover bowl going in on the respot. Just approaching it now.

:15:12. > :15:19.It's very good. It really is very good.

:15:20. > :15:23.APPLAUSE Can't see the respot from the mat.

:15:24. > :15:31.It's remarkable how close they can get sometimes. Yes, very good. Well,

:15:32. > :15:38.Bec's, what will you get back? I think she'll get back OK. It's where

:15:39. > :15:42.the jack goes. Well! Well, it's one, but the chances of picking up a

:15:43. > :15:47.three now can be quite difficult. Yeah. Ellen not studying this hit

:15:48. > :15:51.for too long. She knows it's going to be difficult for Becs, but we see

:15:52. > :15:56.the head. Not a three group together. So it's going to be

:15:57. > :16:13.difficult for Becs. Anything behind will be good.

:16:14. > :16:19.Well, this has got the pace on it. She's all the way up to the jack. It

:16:20. > :16:24.will be good. But even dropping short is a useful bowl. One of those

:16:25. > :16:30.times when a short bowl is very handy to you. A lot depends who's

:16:31. > :16:39.lying third here Andy. Well, Becs has not been studying this for too

:16:40. > :16:46.long. I think it's probably almost a hope here on the forehand. There's a

:16:47. > :16:51.chance to punch the red ball out to get three. That's what she's going

:16:52. > :16:55.for. Hit the target and hope, and a number of red balls moves out. If

:16:56. > :17:00.she make it is gap - oh, too much weight. Oh! The movement of the jack

:17:01. > :17:09.was critical there and then she hit the red ball. If she hadn't hit the

:17:10. > :17:13.red ball, I had a feeling that none would have run off. I was wonder why

:17:14. > :17:20.Ellen was smiling and there had to be a reason. What a great effort,

:17:21. > :17:25.though. A great effort by Rebecca. So after a tight first set, the

:17:26. > :17:30.second was equally close. We join it at the final end of the set.

:17:31. > :17:35.This has been a wonderful game between Ellen Falkner and Rebecca

:17:36. > :17:45.Field. Ellen took the first set - 10-9. Second set, perfectly poised.

:17:46. > :17:48.Going into the last end at 7-7. And this end is going to be interesting

:17:49. > :17:53.in terms of its tactics. APPLAUSE

:17:54. > :17:57.Certainly not be worrying about scoring twos and threes. They just

:17:58. > :18:05.want to win the end. If Ellen wins the end, she takes the title and the

:18:06. > :18:09.trophy. If Rebecca wins the end, we're in a three-end tie break. Two

:18:10. > :18:14.good balls. Doesn't want the jack first. She gets it. Got a bit of a

:18:15. > :18:19.touch off the ball, Andy. That helps. I thought she was going to

:18:20. > :18:24.slice it on to Ellen's. But she held on to it. I agree - if this was

:18:25. > :18:36.almost like a tie-break, it doesn't matter who scores. I think she'll be

:18:37. > :18:42.on to this. I think so. Well... J very controlled. Just trying to

:18:43. > :18:47.control. There's a backball in. Always going to be handy. Yes, I

:18:48. > :18:51.agree. She will attack. She's obviously come down to have a look

:18:52. > :18:54.at this. She'll be positive now - Ellen. Rebecca really can't go near

:18:55. > :19:11.this. Cover shot. Quite rightly. Keeping it wide.

:19:12. > :19:31.Anticipating a drive from Ellen. Good bowl. I'd expect a forehand

:19:32. > :19:34.runner here. Well, interesting - she's using the backhand. Maybe

:19:35. > :19:46.that's because the bowl will come across the centreline better. Close

:19:47. > :19:50.to something. Great effort. Well, I can understand why she played it,

:19:51. > :19:54.but the only thing I don't like about the backhand is the green ball

:19:55. > :20:01.will go on to the jack in the ditch. Correct. Forehand, better chance of

:20:02. > :20:05.whizzing the ball out clean. Looks like a case for the player to pick

:20:06. > :20:10.the hand of the favour. But I think she plays the forehand rather well,

:20:11. > :20:13.Ellen. Slightly surprised there. Again, Becs will be staying away

:20:14. > :20:21.from this. Can't do anything about the head. Yes, going deep again. And

:20:22. > :20:26.just saying to Ellen - if you get this, good on you.

:20:27. > :20:30.APPLAUSE Well, I still think the forehand is

:20:31. > :20:34.off centre, Andy. I think it's going to be a better percentage shot to

:20:35. > :20:39.get to there. 100%. The one thing which I think is an issue for Ellen

:20:40. > :20:42.playing the backhand - if she get it is ball, that jack is going to whizz

:20:43. > :20:45.over to this direction and there's green balls waiting. And she loses

:20:46. > :20:50.the shot. She's stronger on the forehand. I'll be playing this on

:20:51. > :20:54.the forehand. I agree. It's off centre. This is often where the

:20:55. > :20:59.bowls hold out in the forehand. It's a better shot because of that. Well,

:21:00. > :21:09.plenty of time-outs available. If she gets this absolutely right,

:21:10. > :21:14.it's going to be hard to beat. Certainly will. If she catch it is

:21:15. > :21:22.red ball solid, the green will go out and it will be a difficult shot

:21:23. > :21:29.here for Rebecca. So, pick your hand. To me it's fore. Looking at

:21:30. > :21:30.the forehand now. She didn't hear us of course, that's not possible. But

:21:31. > :21:48.it's really is a forehand shot. Mmm... She's looking at this. Very

:21:49. > :21:54.close! Got it! She's got it. On the tap through. She played it to

:21:55. > :21:57.perfection. Didn't get the house side of the bam. Got the solid

:21:58. > :22:00.contact. And run through on to the jack but she's got the shot back and

:22:01. > :22:17.holds a championship lie. This is interesting. Is Ellen's lie

:22:18. > :22:24.one or two. Called. Out We haven't heard anything. It's close for the

:22:25. > :22:29.second. Rebecca has one time-out remaining. I think she'll drive

:22:30. > :22:34.regardless. Hard one to draw, anda. Very hard. This is a runner as well.

:22:35. > :22:40.Just depends how much weight she wants to use. It's a big target in

:22:41. > :22:44.many ways, but the second shot is critical here. I think it's a

:22:45. > :22:55.forehand runner as well. Same ball as Ellen. Yep, going for the heavy

:22:56. > :23:01.shot. No, what's her line like? Oh, it's look like she's under. She's

:23:02. > :23:04.making the gap. It's gone. The match to Ellen Falkner. A wonderful,

:23:05. > :23:10.wonderful game here in the final of the lady's match play. I have to say

:23:11. > :23:15.- Ellen Falkner takes it two sets to nil. But they're big bowls. She did

:23:16. > :23:23.play the important ones in the end. I think it's fair to say Rebecca

:23:24. > :23:26.probably outplayed better slightly, however Ellen, experienced player,

:23:27. > :23:30.played the big shot. Great result for Ellen Falkner. Had a gap of a

:23:31. > :23:37.few years, come back very strong in this event and some tight matches,

:23:38. > :23:41.but 10-9, 8-7 - wonderful final. Rebecca, chat to you first of all.

:23:42. > :23:45.It's very close, but these fine margins went the other way today.

:23:46. > :23:49.How did you feel you played? Yeah, I was pleased overall. I felt I put -

:23:50. > :23:54.I drew well, I put Ellen under a lot of pressure. It was the way to bowl.

:23:55. > :23:58.Ellen had a really brave one in the first set, the conversion for four.

:23:59. > :24:00.If she had caught the other bowl, I probably would have laid three.

:24:01. > :24:04.Massive turn around there. But she was brilliant. So I can't take it

:24:05. > :24:08.away from her. She was brilliant. But you have to be proud of your

:24:09. > :24:11.performance as well. You spoke before the match about how

:24:12. > :24:15.comfortable you were this year. In fairness, that's your third final

:24:16. > :24:20.now in the last four years. Yeah, I love coming here. It's always great

:24:21. > :24:24.just to pop down the road, and, yeah, it's lovely to be here and I

:24:25. > :24:28.have so many people in the crowd. Sorry I didn't do it for you today.

:24:29. > :24:29.You have nothing to be sorry for. Great effort today.

:24:30. > :24:36.APPLAUSE Ellen, congratulations. It's been 10

:24:37. > :24:42.years since you last won this title. I hate to say that loud. You make me

:24:43. > :24:46.sound old t I'm only 36. That's how good you are from so soon. Give us

:24:47. > :24:50.an idea how you played today. You seem to be on it very early on, and

:24:51. > :24:55.Rebecca fought back. Rebecca played incredibly well. She put me under a

:24:56. > :24:58.lot of pressure. It was a conversion bowl which is were difference, but

:24:59. > :25:01.what a great spectacle of bowls here today and I'm just glad we both

:25:02. > :25:10.performed well in the final. APPLAUSE

:25:11. > :25:16.Yes, ladies and gentlemen - for the third time in her career - the 2016

:25:17. > :25:29.championship - Ellen Falkner! Chanz So huge congratulations to Ellen

:25:30. > :25:32.Falkner. Champion here once again at Potters. Time now to switch our

:25:33. > :25:36.attention to the singles competition and here is what the draw looked

:25:37. > :25:44.like at the start of play on Thursday. Alex Marshall and Stewart

:25:45. > :25:49.Anderson also through. We're concentrating throw on the match

:25:50. > :25:55.between Darren Burnett and Greg Harlow. Darren Burnett winning the

:25:56. > :26:00.pairs and Micked paired title and also won the singles title back in

:26:01. > :26:05.2014. His opponent Greg Harlow won the title back here in 2010. Also

:26:06. > :26:12.won the Scottish International Open in 2008 and 2015. Ly pick this match

:26:13. > :26:14.up in end 6 with Harlow enjoying the better of the early exchanging and

:26:15. > :26:32.he leads 5-3. Back to second round of the world

:26:33. > :26:38.singles which goes back to nine ends of the first two sets in a three-end

:26:39. > :26:44.tie-break. Finals are 11, of course. But the nine ends all of a sudden

:26:45. > :26:49.seem very short after the 11. Yeah, before you know it, it's coming to

:26:50. > :26:55.the crucial end of the end - end of the set. Been good bowls so far.

:26:56. > :26:55.Both player just dropping a little bit short here. Understandable.

:26:56. > :27:22.APPLAUSE Still has got a lot of running to

:27:23. > :27:27.do. There's a correction made. But only by a foot when he really needed

:27:28. > :27:35.three. Lots of room for Greg if he wants to come around it. One down.

:27:36. > :27:42.Yes, not in the way -- weight. Forced him on to the forehand side.

:27:43. > :27:50.Comfortable play on the side. Knows it's a good draw. Yes, and it's

:27:51. > :27:53.quite remarkable and a lot of players will be playing the backhand

:27:54. > :28:02.but when they moved to the forehand they played good bowls on it. Just

:28:03. > :28:04.like Greg there. Three inches short. Here is Greg's second bowl. Changes

:28:05. > :28:42.to the fore. Draws Expect Greg to follow this one. Just

:28:43. > :28:45.drop on to the red bowl. Drop and side. Make the double.

:28:46. > :29:02.APPLAUSE Very, very good. That's excellent

:29:03. > :29:04.from Greg Harlow. Playing well. In the time delivery. Falls in, gets a

:29:05. > :29:17.touch up. I think Darren is asking whether he

:29:18. > :29:22.has two-thirds. Yes, I think he has. He may be tempted to this just to

:29:23. > :29:27.try to squeeze into the bowl and jack. I tell you what - this is not

:29:28. > :29:32.easy. He's playing the runner. Yep. It's a hard shot. Has he pushed it

:29:33. > :29:36.out wide? I think he has. Close. But it just looked a little bit wide out

:29:37. > :29:42.of the hand. Not much. Connection with the jack would have been

:29:43. > :29:46.perfect but this will be a good opportunity for Greg. Three here.

:29:47. > :29:54.Give himself a bit of gap going into the last three ends. And fully

:29:55. > :29:59.expect him to make this. Well, burnt Burnett's favourite length but he

:30:00. > :30:13.didn't really get two close bowls in. Expect this to be number 3. Well

:30:14. > :30:15.played. Yep. He's not going to make that mistake of dropping short.

:30:16. > :30:20.APPLAUSE Played a perfect bowl. Now he's got

:30:21. > :30:25.that lovely little gap of five shots.

:30:26. > :30:31.And that put Harlow well clear and he went on to win the first set 9-4.

:30:32. > :30:34.And he was also having the better of the second set as we rejoin the

:30:35. > :30:45.action in the eighth end with Harlow leading 6-3.

:30:46. > :30:54.Well, one really good bowl from Greg, and Darren will be in a heap

:30:55. > :30:56.of trouble. Must score realistically a two on this end, give himself a

:30:57. > :31:12.real chance. 15 ends we have played and door ren

:31:13. > :31:13.has only won four. But Greg has been picking them up in singles.

:31:14. > :31:28.APPLAUSE Well, terrenting for Greg. Well, his

:31:29. > :31:32.normal play here would be to be aggressive here. I don't think I

:31:33. > :31:40.would be too aggressive here. Doesn't need to be. I think he's

:31:41. > :31:49.playing a forehand just reaching. Just a matter of missing the bowl.

:31:50. > :31:52.Well, the thin edge put him off the line, but he probably would have

:31:53. > :31:58.been very close to coming right in behind the jack. Clear run he was

:31:59. > :32:08.good there, Greg. Turned his back on it. Turned his back, but it's still

:32:09. > :32:12.running. He knows he's not up, though. Well, Greg can afford to

:32:13. > :32:22.play a little bit more to it this time. Well, jack in the ditch for

:32:23. > :32:26.the game almost here now. Oh, wow! Not sure he'll play with all of that

:32:27. > :32:31.weight, but he'll certainly be playing inside his own short bowl.

:32:32. > :32:37.He is going for it. Likes a forehand runner. He's under. He's taken his

:32:38. > :32:42.own bowl out as well. Still got the other one sitting. He's never going

:32:43. > :32:52.to be more than one down after that. However he's given Darren a chance

:32:53. > :32:58.to score two or three here. This needs to be good. I never read too

:32:59. > :33:03.much into the way Darren reacts after a bowl goes away, because he's

:33:04. > :33:09.often close. He's coming through with that. Well, it's OK. It's OK.

:33:10. > :33:20.Don't think that - he didn't want it there. It's through really. It was

:33:21. > :33:27.really meant to draw the shot. Oh, Greg, you don't need to run at this

:33:28. > :33:32.head. Well, it has to be a draw, surely. Passes his own bowl. Got a

:33:33. > :33:36.thin edge. Can also play the back, and be defensive and try to drop in

:33:37. > :33:40.there if he misses the draw. If he gets into that sort of area, it's

:33:41. > :33:46.got to be close just to stop Darren scoring a double. You know, one shot

:33:47. > :33:50.is not a big issue for him. He's happy to lose one here - Greg.

:33:51. > :33:54.Darren need as three in the last hand. Yes, yes he does. That's why

:33:55. > :33:59.Greg is happy one down. This has just got to be a draw. I think I

:34:00. > :34:08.draw a backhand really. Clear a path to the jack. He's playing the

:34:09. > :34:13.backhand. It's just a draw. Gentlemen, just trying to close the

:34:14. > :34:21.head down, that's all. Just finishes a foot behind. He's happy. Yeah.

:34:22. > :34:25.He's very close to it. He's not behind. So therefore Darren has

:34:26. > :34:29.still got a chance. It's a good bowl, but Darren has to decide

:34:30. > :34:42.whether he wants to take a risk here. It's... He's got to take a

:34:43. > :34:50.risk. He's got to try the trail to the jack. It's there. It's

:34:51. > :34:56.definitely available. Got to give him a chance. He's got to take a

:34:57. > :35:00.chance. I know it's difficult, if he picks a one up, that's not going to

:35:01. > :35:05.be good enough. He's not going to get three in the last end. That's

:35:06. > :35:09.what he's looking at - the angle inside that, to bring the jack into

:35:10. > :35:17.that position. There's no absolutely no reason not to play that. OK, you

:35:18. > :35:21.may just have given the game away - but that's too bad. You got to take

:35:22. > :35:26.a chance. I think the game is gone if he scores just a single. Correct.

:35:27. > :35:31.The way Greg is playing, it's hard to pick up a three. He has picked up

:35:32. > :35:38.a three earlier in the set but it's only one end. So it's a big bowl.

:35:39. > :35:43.It's a difficult one. Sometimes the option is to play across it and a

:35:44. > :35:47.forehand, but I just don't like the look of that. I think he's being

:35:48. > :35:51.positive, I think. I think he's playing the right shot. It will hook

:35:52. > :35:55.away very quickly. He can still get a result. Being tight here. He can

:35:56. > :36:06.get a result here. Edge and the jack for three. He's got a result. Well.

:36:07. > :36:18.He didn't get the three, but it's a fortuitous 2. Set score - 5-6 after

:36:19. > :36:23.eight ends. You cedar ren's last bowl - slightly under. Fortunate

:36:24. > :36:25.result. Picks a two up. He acknowledges it was a little bit

:36:26. > :37:09.lucky. APPLAUSE

:37:10. > :37:20.. He's three inches short of jack high.

:37:21. > :37:28.Greg is still very much in the driving seat. He's effectively

:37:29. > :37:33.carries that one shot over from the first set because Darren must win.

:37:34. > :37:40.He's probably thinking to himself - you can have one, my friend, but no

:37:41. > :37:43.more. Yes. You're right. He's got a little cushion, however his opening

:37:44. > :37:49.ball has put a bit of pressure on. It might just stop the running ball.

:37:50. > :37:56.Darren needs probably a closer shot here.

:37:57. > :38:12.APPLAUSE Just... Well! I earlier thought Greg

:38:13. > :38:16.would take the two bowls out. But at this stage he'll probably still

:38:17. > :38:17.draw. Stick at the draw for the moment Greg. You're on the last

:38:18. > :38:37.delivery. Not quite. It's coming across the

:38:38. > :38:44.red balls. They're close enough that hecle play that forcing shot if he

:38:45. > :38:49.needs it. That would have been better if he hadn't come across the

:38:50. > :38:51.red. Well, two red, Darren needs so make this one count. Greg will be

:38:52. > :39:10.running at the next one, I think. Change of hand. Needs to come back

:39:11. > :39:13.very quickly. Oh, it's good. It's number 3.

:39:14. > :39:21.APPLAUSE A lot of pressure now on Greg. What

:39:22. > :39:25.does he do? Is it a forehand draw or backhand runner? He's been so good

:39:26. > :39:32.at the returners, he really has been. But I think the difficult is

:39:33. > :39:36.now if he's just a foot over the weight in the forehand, Andy, he'll

:39:37. > :39:39.slip on through. Sticking with the forehand. Good choice. Confident in

:39:40. > :39:50.the draw. No reason why he can't draw. He's been playing well enough.

:39:51. > :39:56.Oh, he's close with this. Very close! Very close. Second. Well

:39:57. > :39:58.done. Well done, Greg. Played it well.

:39:59. > :40:15.APPLAUSE Yeah. It's a clap there from Kate.

:40:16. > :40:19.Hard stuff now, Andy! Does he play all the way through it and take the

:40:20. > :40:23.green bowl out? Or does he try to convert the jack through on the

:40:24. > :40:27.forehand? Looks quite a good backhand runner. That's what he's

:40:28. > :40:31.looking at. Yeah. Replace the green bowl. It's a hard shot, though, Andy

:40:32. > :40:35.without bringing that jack out. I agree. I think that's the only thing

:40:36. > :40:38.he's got on here. The forehand is there, but as you know - it

:40:39. > :40:45.struggles to get back when you put it out on a wide line. But Darren

:40:46. > :40:54.Burnett has got one bowl to stay in this championship. He's got one bowl

:40:55. > :40:58.to keep the quest for the treble going, and it's very difficult. It

:40:59. > :41:03.really is. This is a hard, hard shot. However, I think he's got to

:41:04. > :41:08.play the backhand. Try to remove the green bowl. Ooop! Put off his

:41:09. > :41:11.delivery. Still got time. He can take a time-out. Just settle

:41:12. > :41:19.yourself. Take a time-out. Stop clock has been stopped. It has. It

:41:20. > :41:30.has. Restart. Potentially the last bowl of the match.

:41:31. > :41:37.He's gone with a lot of weight. Just needs the green bowl to go out. He

:41:38. > :41:42.looks under. Yes, just a bowl under. Would have been interesting to

:41:43. > :41:51.see... Greg Harlow punches his fist to the air to acknowledge the crowd.

:41:52. > :41:55.And his win today. Played very well. And signs that Darren were coming

:41:56. > :41:59.back, but that great bowl in the last end, Andy. Great bowl from

:42:00. > :42:04.Greg. Greg was a better player, drew better. Darren not quite in the form

:42:05. > :42:07.he was in the beginning of the week. Greg is through. Darren has had a

:42:08. > :42:10.great championship. Disappointment for you, Darren.

:42:11. > :42:14.First of all, can you give us your thoughts on how you played in the

:42:15. > :42:19.first set in particular - how much were you put off by your opponent

:42:20. > :42:24.today? Greg bowled very well. I unfortunately - it's not the way I

:42:25. > :42:28.have been playing. It's my ninth game in the tournament. You can't

:42:29. > :42:30.produce every time. I know at this stage in this event, if you don't

:42:31. > :42:35.produce your best, you'll struggle. I proved I can fight. Greg played

:42:36. > :42:39.the great last bowl. And if I nipped it out we might have been in the

:42:40. > :42:43.tie-break, but Greg thoroughly deserved to win. How would you sum

:42:44. > :42:51.up your time here at Potters? It's fantastic. You know, singles is

:42:52. > :42:54.vitally important. But I can't complain with that. It's been a

:42:55. > :42:59.great couple of week. Certainly has. Disappointed today. But well done on

:43:00. > :43:03.those two trophies. Greg, you seem to be playing very well. The guys in

:43:04. > :43:07.the commentary box were singing your praises the way you were rolling on

:43:08. > :43:11.the first set. It's nice of them. Unusual, but nice of them. I was

:43:12. > :43:15.comfortle out there. I had a good start. That settles any nerves you

:43:16. > :43:19.had. I was finding a good pace. I was feeling good. Time now to bring

:43:20. > :43:21.you action from the match that took place in the morning between

:43:22. > :43:27.19-years-old Connor Cinato, the youngest player still left in the

:43:28. > :43:30.tournament up against a former quarterfinalist Jamie Chestney. They

:43:31. > :43:40.both made it through to the second round with impressive first round

:43:41. > :43:45.wins. Connor Cinato knocked out Andy Thompson, while Jamie Chestney

:43:46. > :43:50.knocked out Jason Greenslade. The Commonwealth Games silver medallist

:43:51. > :43:56.took the early initiative. The teenager limited his losses with his

:43:57. > :44:00.final bowl on end 5. But the Devon bowler was in fine

:44:01. > :44:07.form extending his lead to eight shots. And despite a

:44:08. > :44:11.confidence-boosting two in end 7 for Cinato he couldn't prevent Chestney

:44:12. > :44:16.from taking the first set with an end to spare. Jamie increased the

:44:17. > :44:24.pressure at the start of the second set with a successful drive to win

:44:25. > :44:28.the first end. And when he slid in for a three at end 3, the audience

:44:29. > :44:35.were expecting an early conclusion to the match. Cinato showed why he's

:44:36. > :44:37.such a good prospect with his best bowl of the match to pull two shots

:44:38. > :44:51.back at end 4. But it's misat end 8 confirmed

:44:52. > :44:53.Chestney's passage to the fiefls for the first time in nine years winning

:44:54. > :45:09.10-3, 8-3. And the final match on Thursday was

:45:10. > :45:15.between Les Gillett and Nick Brett. He did get to the smile semifinals

:45:16. > :45:23.here 16 years ago and is seeded number 16. His opponent - his best

:45:24. > :45:28.performance was getting to the semifinals at Potters in 2010. Here

:45:29. > :45:37.is what happened with David Corkill and Robert Paxton. There is Gillett.

:45:38. > :45:43.Levelled the scores now in the second set with two ends to go at

:45:44. > :45:54.5-5. A set he must win to force a tie-break. Left-hander from lest --

:45:55. > :46:01.Lester. He has really upped his game this second part of the match.

:46:02. > :46:06.Number one - Nick Brett. He'll want to score a single here at the very

:46:07. > :46:10.least and force Les to have to get a double at the last end. A draw isn't

:46:11. > :46:36.good enough. APPLAUSE

:46:37. > :47:01.Well, that's handy. Give him a chance.

:47:02. > :47:09.That can't be believe to keep the two bowls in. But there's a good

:47:10. > :47:16.shoulder to lean on and drop back the jack. He doesn't want to leave

:47:17. > :47:25.it to his last. Definitely not. He's got to pull one out, really. How is

:47:26. > :47:34.he holding? Just on the outside line again. Comes off his own bowl, he's

:47:35. > :47:42.got a chance. Just dropped out. Could be two in this by the looks of

:47:43. > :47:51.it. That's definitely one too many for Les. Nick's deciding to go on

:47:52. > :47:59.the other side to cover things. Just wise. Les can attack these two

:48:00. > :48:07.bowls. I think he has to, to be honest. He can go strong as he

:48:08. > :48:13.wishes. The delicate shot would be just to draw to the jack and move it

:48:14. > :48:21.across. I think he's better to go splitter of the two bowls. That

:48:22. > :48:24.disappears. And that one disappears. If he get it is jack he's probably

:48:25. > :48:29.still going to be in the same situation. He needs to rip the two

:48:30. > :48:30.bowls out. Down the backhand, straight into the split. He'll good

:48:31. > :48:46.enough to play this shot. Just taking his note. Knows it's

:48:47. > :48:52.such a big bowl for him here. Just to keep him in the match really.

:48:53. > :48:57.He's going strong. He's in the air gentleman. Got the jack, I think.

:48:58. > :49:02.Oh, no, what's the result? Well, the bowl is in the ditch. Going to go on

:49:03. > :49:14.the respot. I think he'll probably lie. There's the bowl being marked

:49:15. > :49:17.as a toucher. And they'll check the respot position even though a jack

:49:18. > :49:24.has been put on by Nick. One green. Well, there we go. We couldn't tell

:49:25. > :49:29.from the angle of our camera, but there's one of the green. Exactly

:49:30. > :49:36.the same scenario. Would be a double for Nick. I would expect him to make

:49:37. > :49:41.this. That was unlucky in many ways from Les. Could have bounced about

:49:42. > :49:46.like a pinball and ended up in a better position. He pretty much on

:49:47. > :49:53.target. This needs to stop. Going a bit quick. I think he might have

:49:54. > :50:05.missed this. Wow! That I did not expect. I don't think any of us did

:50:06. > :50:10.really. That could be very costly. A big different of needing turn three

:50:11. > :50:13.in the last end. Obviously it's just one shot from a numerical point of

:50:14. > :50:19.view, but from a psychological point of view, it's massive. Oh,

:50:20. > :50:23.definitely. I mean, threes and fours don't come often, but two - two is

:50:24. > :50:30.certainly gettable. Especially with the last bowl he played as well -

:50:31. > :50:39.from Les. Really close. Oh, it looks in. I think it might just be in.

:50:40. > :50:44.They'll go back and check with a box measure. I love that device. Les is

:50:45. > :50:51.kicking it away, he knows. Two shots - Nick Brett. He's thinking - hasn't

:50:52. > :50:54.really been my night. Any little things here and there, Rob, have

:50:55. > :50:59.just been going slightly against him. Sometimes you make your own

:51:00. > :51:03.luck by the way you play. Nick has got more bowls in the head. You get

:51:04. > :51:09.the touches occasionally for you as well. He's been on target a number

:51:10. > :51:13.of times, and has come out very well. But I think generally when it

:51:14. > :51:20.comes to things like this, the better player has a tendency to get

:51:21. > :51:22.the little edges. It's not always the case, but it's a big difference

:51:23. > :51:50.to Les looking for a three now. It's a good start. Really good

:51:51. > :52:01.start. Les has to make sure everything really is within either a

:52:02. > :52:06.foot or just behind. The intention now is to make sure you're up and

:52:07. > :52:08.just to run through. A good effort from Les here. It's good. It's very

:52:09. > :52:53.tidy in there. This match will complete our

:52:54. > :52:57.quarterfinal line-up for tomorrow. See Alex Marshall taking on Stewart

:52:58. > :53:01.Anderson, Jamie Chestney will take on Robert Paxton. Mathew Orrey

:53:02. > :53:13.qualifier against David Gourlay. And Greg Harlow will take on the winner

:53:14. > :53:18.of this match. Nick will not think he's over the line until the last

:53:19. > :53:23.ball is played. Certainly that loose ball there from Nicky, it's half a

:53:24. > :53:30.chance, but it's made it awkward this second bowl - just dropped it

:53:31. > :53:35.in front. Again, it's not an easy. But it has to be a shot on there. If

:53:36. > :53:38.he gets on to the jack and wants to extend it through, it's great.

:53:39. > :53:44.That's fine. That's a delicate shot. But there's the other shot available

:53:45. > :53:49.- that is the front bowl into it. The problem for Les is that those

:53:50. > :53:55.two shots need different weights Yeah, they're both hard. Both really

:53:56. > :54:00.hard in there. One's quite a delicate shot. The other one is more

:54:01. > :54:07.of an offensive shot. Needs to come in with pace on it. I'd always be

:54:08. > :54:10.looking down the other - down - chipping the bowl past the white.

:54:11. > :54:15.Lifting his own bowl into it. Will do well to get back to that. He's in

:54:16. > :54:20.the area. It's a great offer here from Les. Is he going to get it?

:54:21. > :54:24.It's perfect. That's the only danger I saw in that shot - the green ball

:54:25. > :54:30.coming on to the red. Always going to stop it from going out clean.

:54:31. > :54:34.It's a good bowl, but if you just look - he had to get it plum, he

:54:35. > :54:43.couldn't get it highed is because the jack was moving. To get it plum,

:54:44. > :54:48.it has to hit the back bowl. Still, he's up for a chance if Nick doesn't

:54:49. > :54:54.get in. Dasm. That was certainly the hardest shot he could play on here.

:54:55. > :55:10.A crucial bowl for Nicky here. He's calling the bowl back. He's

:55:11. > :55:13.gives this a go. Is he ever! APPLAUSE

:55:14. > :55:18.Well, that's an absolute beauty. Doesn't matter he's fallen back on

:55:19. > :55:26.the shot. If it's one, that has absolutely no problems at all. There

:55:27. > :55:37.is one shot available here for Les. This could be a very interesting

:55:38. > :55:42.one, but I think he has to play for it. And there's room to get on to

:55:43. > :55:46.this bowl. That will hit the other red bowl. If he hits it on the high

:55:47. > :55:50.side, it keeps it right. But the jack will go off the rink. Fully

:55:51. > :55:53.expect the jack to go there. But that red bowl that he hits in the

:55:54. > :55:57.middle, just in front of the jack, will get on to the green one, push

:55:58. > :56:02.that through, and the jack will go on to the respot position which is

:56:03. > :56:07.here. That's the only shot. Looking for the plant. And it all depends

:56:08. > :56:11.what happens with the two red bowls coming through. That's the key. Yep.

:56:12. > :56:19.No other shot available. That's his only hope. And he's drawing the back

:56:20. > :56:23.hand. I can see what he's trying to do here - he's trying to come around

:56:24. > :56:27.it or come inside on to the green ball and fall back on the... Just

:56:28. > :56:30.up. I thought he would have taken a chance on that one. Yeah. Ang the

:56:31. > :56:34.looked good to be honest. But didn't fancy it. Nicky getting over the

:56:35. > :56:40.line 2-0 and fully deserved. APPLAUSE

:56:41. > :56:44.Absolutely. And the crowd showing acknowledgment of the match around

:56:45. > :56:47.for the world number 1 getting through against Matt Gillett. World

:56:48. > :56:53.number 15. Good effort by Les Les in the second set. But Nicky controlled

:56:54. > :57:00.the match for most of it. Still had to play a good bowl in the last end.

:57:01. > :57:02.Certain amount of pressure there. He would be happy to get through this

:57:03. > :57:09.match. So here is the confirmed line-up for

:57:10. > :57:11.the quarterfinals of the singles of the World Indoor Bowls Championships

:57:35. > :57:38.Corky's shot of the day. It cams from the laid yes match.

:57:39. > :57:42.Ellen Falkner is down. She really needs to make a big bowl with this

:57:43. > :57:48.one and she plays the perfect running shot.

:57:49. > :57:52.On the backhand, into the green bowl, wasn't doing her good really

:57:53. > :57:57.but bowl on the jack and she runs through and lifts it four shots that

:57:58. > :58:01.she needs to give her a very, strong position to move into the last two

:58:02. > :58:08.ends. It was a brilliant ball. With weight and control and she won the

:58:09. > :58:12.first set. And Corky has earnt a goodnight's

:58:13. > :58:27.rest. Here is what's coming up on BBC on Friday:
