:00:35. > :00:41.APPLAUSE Hello, and welcome to the World

:00:42. > :00:44.Indoor Bowls Championships at the Potters Leisure Resort on the east

:00:45. > :00:48.coast of England. Extra buzz around the place today, a great atmosphere

:00:49. > :00:52.inside this famous arena because today it is ladies final say, and

:00:53. > :00:56.either Ellen Falkner or Rebecca Field will be able to place their

:00:57. > :00:59.hands on this trophy. Looking at the record of both

:01:00. > :01:05.players, they've both been to this event before and won the title.

:01:06. > :01:10.Rebecca, 26, won the title three years ago in 2013.

:01:11. > :01:15.As for Allen, she won back-to-back titles in 2005 and 2006. Although

:01:16. > :01:19.success here has been sparse since, she's won gold medals in the

:01:20. > :01:20.Commonwealth Games in Delhi and Glasgow -- Ellen. Let's hear from

:01:21. > :01:33.them now. In the last ten years, I've played

:01:34. > :01:36.four Commonwealth Games. I've managed to get three Commonwealth

:01:37. > :01:42.golds, and had great team-mates who are very good friends. Since the

:01:43. > :01:47.last time I was here, I've lost the final once. Lost in the mixed pairs

:01:48. > :01:53.final once, I would very much like to make the final into a win. I'm

:01:54. > :01:56.proud to be out there playing as I am representing my country. I'm

:01:57. > :01:59.really pleased to be back, it has been a couple of years since I got

:02:00. > :02:04.the chance to go out there and get my hands on the trophy. I'm really

:02:05. > :02:08.looking forward to it, I want a guard, enjoy, relax and play as well

:02:09. > :02:13.as I can. I've not qualified in the last few years. It is great to be

:02:14. > :02:18.back and playing on the carpet. I'm very much looking forward to the

:02:19. > :02:22.final. Obviously, with both been and lifted the trophy before. Ellen is a

:02:23. > :02:28.great competitor, one of the best in the game. I know that she will be

:02:29. > :02:32.fighting for today. I'm excited to play Rebecca, I've known her a long

:02:33. > :02:36.time and she has won this before. We will both be looking to get our

:02:37. > :02:42.hands on the trophy. It would be a dream come true if I can win it for

:02:43. > :02:46.a third time. I'm taking it and by end, game by game, and enjoying

:02:47. > :02:49.being back on the carpet in the surroundings of Potters Resort. I'm

:02:50. > :02:53.looking forward to the final. It's the best place to be when you play

:02:54. > :02:58.well. I'm lucky I'm a local girl. The same with Ellen, she isn't from

:02:59. > :03:03.far away. I will have a few supporters from my home crowd. It's

:03:04. > :03:08.good to be part of the shop window of your sport. Hopefully there will

:03:09. > :03:12.be some young women out there who feel inspired and want to have a go

:03:13. > :03:16.at the sport and qualify to play here themselves. It means the world,

:03:17. > :03:21.it's been a difficult ride back here to be honest. It's a place I've been

:03:22. > :03:26.in the last couple of years, I've not felt the most comfortable. But I

:03:27. > :03:31.feel good this year. I will do what I normally do, a mix of practice and

:03:32. > :03:38.quiet time, and making sure that I'm physically and mentally prepared to

:03:39. > :03:41.go onto the green. But mostly, I will be excited, I think I want to

:03:42. > :03:46.go out there and perform well. At the end of the day, whoever performs

:03:47. > :03:53.best will come away with the title. Of course, the final is something of

:03:54. > :03:57.a local derby. Ellen Falkner plays Rebecca Field of

:03:58. > :04:05.Norwich. Let's introduce them with our emcee.

:04:06. > :04:08.Going for her second title is the 2013 ladies bod matchplay champion,

:04:09. > :04:13.ladies and gentlemen... Rebecca Field! -- ladies World Matchplay

:04:14. > :04:35.champion. Making her fifth appearance in this

:04:36. > :04:42.ladies World Matchplay final, hoping things really do come in threes, the

:04:43. > :04:57.2005 - 2006 champion... Ladies and gentlemen, it's Ellen Falkner.

:04:58. > :05:02.Two of the best female bowlers are set to go. If you have any

:05:03. > :05:06.observations or questions during the match, just tweet us with this

:05:07. > :05:10.hashtag. We will read out or answer as many of your questions as

:05:11. > :05:15.possible. David Corkill and Andy Thompson are

:05:16. > :05:19.in the commentary box for us. Yes, I have my tablet at the ready,

:05:20. > :05:25.it will be an interesting game, no doubt of that. The questions will

:05:26. > :05:28.come in and we'll our best to answer them. A lot of experience but

:05:29. > :05:32.Rebecca would have the most experience in this particular ring.

:05:33. > :05:37.She does, she's a top player. And English, nice to see that. But I

:05:38. > :05:41.think Ellen has slightly more experience. As you say, Rebecca is

:05:42. > :05:46.used to this carpet. It will be a great I think.

:05:47. > :06:18.-- it'll be a great final, I think. A lovely and smooth delivery from

:06:19. > :06:23.Ellen Falkner. You can see she's beaten her previous rivals Julie

:06:24. > :06:36.Forrest and Laura Thomas, both going to tie-breaks, 2-1, pushed all the

:06:37. > :06:46.way there. Rebecca Field, Alison Merrien, a prolific winner of

:06:47. > :06:57.titles. Last night, Eadie went all the way to a tie-break with Rebecca.

:06:58. > :07:12.Both players will be looking for a steady start, moving into a longer

:07:13. > :07:20.match as well, Andy? I was impressed by Ellen Falkner's play yesterday, I

:07:21. > :07:26.thought she did really well. Very good at the choice of shot. A lot of

:07:27. > :07:44.experience from major championships. That is really on the edge for those

:07:45. > :07:52.balls, big swingers. They need to be fed out on a white line... I don't

:07:53. > :07:57.think it would be Ellen's choice of hand. I think we will see her play

:07:58. > :08:01.with the forehand in misdirection. Rebecca is to down at the opening

:08:02. > :08:12.end, you don't want to be dropping a three here. -- this direction. A

:08:13. > :08:21.nice little edge. It might be second.

:08:22. > :08:42.A bit of a missed chance there, more weight than anything else. I think

:08:43. > :08:46.the line was good? It was, did she pushed

:08:47. > :08:54.the line was good? It was, did she it to count? Rebecca would be happy

:08:55. > :09:27.if it drops the one here. One shot, Ellen Falkner.

:09:28. > :09:58.You would expect that to be the favoured side of Ellen Falkner.

:09:59. > :10:00.Getting back towards the Jack the high line and let the ball do the

:10:01. > :10:53.work. It is nice to see bowlers out there

:10:54. > :10:58.using big swinging balls, because there have been a a lot of narrow

:10:59. > :11:04.balls around over the years. Always like to see them swinging back from

:11:05. > :11:09.a high arc? I think so, the purists prefer to see a ball swinging in. As

:11:10. > :11:15.you say, the narrow balls have been the flavour in the last four or five

:11:16. > :11:26.years. It's such an advantage to play with the ball that would take a

:11:27. > :11:30.good bit of grass. 11 and separate these two players in a three N

:11:31. > :11:35.tie-break, we get to that, I will explain the change in the rules for

:11:36. > :11:42.our audience who are non-bowlers. Cash a three end -- a three end

:11:43. > :11:53.tie-break. A tempting target. I think so. I

:11:54. > :11:57.haven't seen Rebecca played too often, I don't know if she is

:11:58. > :12:01.aggressive or more of a touring. She much prefers to draw. She is a front

:12:02. > :12:08.end player. Ellen would be different. A skip, international

:12:09. > :12:11.team, she would be more aggressive with the heavy ball. This is very

:12:12. > :12:42.close... Will she bend? A good try. . To Ellen Falkner? It certainly

:12:43. > :12:49.looks that way. Brett, the world number one, Jimmy Chesney. Andy

:12:50. > :12:57.McLeish there as well. Ellen Falkner has gone for cover. Putting the back

:12:58. > :13:02.ball in. A ball on the jack. The ball went in the ditch, the jack

:13:03. > :13:10.will go through to lose one. Back can drive, red ball on Red Bull

:13:11. > :13:18.would give her the shot. -- backhand drive, red ball on red ball. It

:13:19. > :13:25.looks like Rebecca is sticking to the draw. A forehand runner. Looks

:13:26. > :13:35.under... Yes, let's see what comes of this ball. No change. A look for

:13:36. > :13:45.the second, nice wait for the job. Indicating two, I think.

:13:46. > :14:01.Two shots, Ellen Falkner. Good eyesight. Yes, I would agree! Ellen

:14:02. > :14:06.Falkner, now 36, but she seems to have been around a very long time.

:14:07. > :14:11.She certainly has, I think she said in her video before the game started

:14:12. > :14:17.that is four Commonwealth Games, that's good, isn't it? Yes indeed.

:14:18. > :14:23.I've been in her company in one or two of them. And had the opportunity

:14:24. > :14:49.to travel the world, as they say, Andy. Dedicated to her sport.

:14:50. > :14:59.Interesting, in Glasgow, Delhi was a challenging trip, that one. With the

:15:00. > :15:06.heat and humidity. But a very enjoyable one as well. Melbourne

:15:07. > :15:16.before that. That was my last one. You were there, Andy? And of course,

:15:17. > :15:25.the local one Manchester. They did very well in that. Certainly did.

:15:26. > :15:31.But that's the four that she has been at. I'm sure she will be aiming

:15:32. > :15:36.for Australia in a couple of years' time. A target fall of the top lady

:15:37. > :15:41.bowlers at the moment, the World Championships at the end of this

:15:42. > :15:53.year. -- for all of. You were there managing the Irish team? No. No

:15:54. > :16:00.that's a different situation contract to be looked at. As they

:16:01. > :16:24.say, so... I will likely be hopefully in a different role.

:16:25. > :16:30.Nobody put anything within 18 inches, this is a chance for Rebecca

:16:31. > :16:40.Field to steady her nerves a bit and get a good opening goal in. Trying

:16:41. > :16:57.to score and get on the board. Might be running a little bit.

:16:58. > :17:09.Looks like one to green. At the moment, we think... I'm sure

:17:10. > :17:20.everyone will have their own opinion on that...! I think there is room

:17:21. > :17:24.for Ellen here. Rolling yesterday, I would have expected her to draw

:17:25. > :17:37.this. In her forehand, the ball always comes back in Centre rink.

:17:38. > :17:42.This is good. Ellen's final delivery, takes the shot... A steady

:17:43. > :18:06.start from Ellen. This looks good, the perfect weight.

:18:07. > :19:45.A good score on the scorecard. Questions coming in asking if the

:19:46. > :19:50.Green gets stretched for the final, the answer is it is not. Once it is

:19:51. > :20:01.down, that is it. That is a major problem. It is always a problem. It

:20:02. > :20:08.does slow down occasionally. There is talk among the players that it

:20:09. > :20:16.should be halfway through. I think they just leave it alone for the

:20:17. > :20:23.duration. The players do go out and practice at different times in the

:20:24. > :20:26.day, suddenly it runs quicker in the second session. It's not really

:20:27. > :20:32.fair. Quite rightly, they leave it alone once it is down. It may change

:20:33. > :20:46.a little bit, but there's no great change during the final. Better to

:20:47. > :20:54.pass it, she has. She can draw the shot. She will be aggressive here.

:20:55. > :20:58.We will see Rebecca 's final delivery coming in where she wants

:20:59. > :21:02.it. Width in the backhand, if she comes in tight on that ball, she

:21:03. > :21:06.will go back in to the green ones. She has her own ball

:21:07. > :21:09.will go back in to the green ones. order split the

:21:10. > :21:12.will go back in to the green ones. through. She obviously favours this

:21:13. > :21:14.hand for her heavy balls. A good choice in the area, a great strike.

:21:15. > :21:25.Look where she is going. That angle choice in the area, a great strike.

:21:26. > :21:37.strike. A really good choice in the area, a great strike.

:21:38. > :21:38.position could offer two shots. What a great strike from Ellen,

:21:39. > :21:46.position could offer two shots. What the head totally in her favour. You

:21:47. > :21:58.would expect Rebecca to draw the shot here.

:21:59. > :22:10.That is close enough. She will try to ball back again will stop she has

:22:11. > :22:19.two seconds to drive the ball out. If she gets the jack, she will take

:22:20. > :22:28.her chances. It is because it is off centre, on the re-spot, it makes the

:22:29. > :22:33.drive a little more difficult. She started it under her body really.

:22:34. > :22:50.Anything on that side of the jackal was not good form. -- the jack was

:22:51. > :22:57.not good form. Search score, 3-2. Another question, Andy. Where is

:22:58. > :23:04.your favourite format, singles, pears, triples, all fours, at this

:23:05. > :23:07.stage in your career? I think singles is my least favourite, I

:23:08. > :23:17.prefer the pairs game. I preferred team's games. I enjoyed playing

:23:18. > :23:22.pairs with many good partners. I do enjoy it, obviously international

:23:23. > :23:35.is, it would be fours, but let's go with pears. -- let's go with pairs.

:23:36. > :24:02.I still prefer the team games now. Some good ball is played in this

:24:03. > :24:15.match already. Exciting stuff, Rebecca has just settled it now.

:24:16. > :25:05.Certainly playing at a draw shots. Your bowl, 18 inches.

:25:06. > :25:19.Another one going in. The balls are on the line. Jack high. A third

:25:20. > :25:25.delivery coming in. The perfect ball really on the top of the jack. No

:25:26. > :25:34.target for Ellen Falkner here. It would just be a draw. Trying to

:25:35. > :25:42.develop a shoulder to come off with her last ball. Probably suggests

:25:43. > :25:50.that she is doing well to get a third shot here. Only two down off

:25:51. > :25:57.of the wrist delivery. Still running... Her last ball is Rulli

:25:58. > :26:04.going to have to be a saver. Let's see what Rebecca does here, if she

:26:05. > :26:08.goes near it, she will leave a shoulder, might be worth going on

:26:09. > :26:15.the deep side to the three red, in case she decides to have a go at it.

:26:16. > :26:23.Not broadening the head, anything behind is good. Sticking to the

:26:24. > :26:27.forehand, suggestions that she will try to draw another. She does that

:26:28. > :26:35.and the only thing she has to be careful about is making it back to

:26:36. > :26:44.centre rink. Nothing Jack high. That's good, OK. It is past the

:26:45. > :26:47.jack. Coming off the third shot. Another 45 inches of weight and it

:26:48. > :26:57.would have carried on the centreline. Ellen needs a good ball

:26:58. > :26:58.here, three balls have gone two feet through. She needs a slight

:26:59. > :27:16.adjustment. She was asking the umpire there to

:27:17. > :27:19.move out the way a little bit. This is heavy again. The line was

:27:20. > :27:22.perfect, four balls all grouped together.

:27:23. > :27:42.That is not good. If that is four, it is a soft four

:27:43. > :27:48.really. It looks like four. I think Ellen will be more annoyed

:27:49. > :28:01.with, more than anything else, is the lack of adjustment. All of a

:28:02. > :28:02.sudden, Rebecca Field has her drawing going. It is looking good

:28:03. > :28:24.here. A different length here, I'm not

:28:25. > :28:26.quite sure if Rebecca wanted this link, slightly shorter than she

:28:27. > :28:48.previously wanted in this direction. It looks like any length from

:28:49. > :28:53.Rebecca... The umpire moving in to put this

:28:54. > :29:03.brave chalk onto the ball, that is a touch. -- the spray chalk. Any thing

:29:04. > :29:33.going into the ditch at the end of the rinks will be taken away.

:29:34. > :29:44.Once again, Rebecca is in on the jack off of two deliveries. Ellen

:29:45. > :29:49.appears to have lost her weight at the moment. A changeover from the

:29:50. > :29:54.semifinal, I thought Rebecca and Eadie, that was not the best game in

:29:55. > :30:00.terms of the consistency. I think Rebecca has moved up a gear or two.

:30:01. > :30:05.She certainly has, she started off a little bit nervous, you could tell.

:30:06. > :30:12.She really has settled into a good groove here. Putting pressure on

:30:13. > :30:34.Ellen with every delivery. She needs to get a good ball in here.

:30:35. > :31:15.Rebecca could be positively. Two or three seconds. -- positive here. She

:31:16. > :31:18.is-she has chances. -- she is high but she has chances. She needed a

:31:19. > :31:25.better connection. but she has chances. She needed a

:31:26. > :31:28.was prepared to play. Played it on the high side because there were

:31:29. > :31:32.holes to use that got the wrong angle. Not a great opportunity --

:31:33. > :31:48.bowls. Interesting choice. The red bowl on

:31:49. > :31:59.the right-hand side she is just hoping to miss it. A very

:32:00. > :32:05.conservative effort. Of course it is different with 11p and you can judge

:32:06. > :32:13.your comeback, you don't have to chase as much. I agree, Rebecca has

:32:14. > :32:15.come back strongly so you are right. Both players are settled now that

:32:16. > :32:22.Eleanor just needs to get that drawing a little better or else

:32:23. > :32:29.Rebecca will run away with the set. -- Ellen.

:32:30. > :32:36.We will see if that Jack Colts on. Only just. -- Jack holds on. A bid

:32:37. > :32:59.to close. A question asked why do not men play

:33:00. > :33:03.with women. The open professionals is for both to qualify and ladies

:33:04. > :33:09.have done that before, we have seen Julie Forrest play here and Carol

:33:10. > :33:12.Ashby and others. Exactly. As you can see with the standard of the

:33:13. > :33:17.women's, they could certainly compete with the men. It is just

:33:18. > :33:26.they have not managed to qualify for a while but it is open. Only if you

:33:27. > :33:31.women have entered the professional Bowls Association qualifier, I think

:33:32. > :33:38.the sport would like to see a lot more women enter, it is good

:33:39. > :33:41.competition. Let's be diplomatic, the men are more than a little bit

:33:42. > :33:48.worried than playing against the women. It doesn't go down well on

:33:49. > :33:55.the CV to lose to a woman. They could certainly play that. Everybody

:33:56. > :34:41.benefits. This would be a bit of a problem for

:34:42. > :34:50.Rebecca. Certainly not easy to get to it.

:34:51. > :35:13.She will have to use a bit of weight on the backhand side. Too high with

:35:14. > :35:23.that one. The wait was OK. -- weight. Just being asked to move

:35:24. > :35:28.across again. In front of the rink marker which Allen uses to judge her

:35:29. > :35:36.line. A lot of players use that -- Ellen. I know a lot of players are

:35:37. > :35:46.happy to just gauge the lion and therefore the position. That may be

:35:47. > :35:51.a reasonable one. It is whether there are two seconds for one

:35:52. > :35:57.second. There are two seconds so Rebecca can afford to play through

:35:58. > :35:59.this. A lot of people are natural sciences, looking down the line

:36:00. > :36:05.where they want to go and some people use the centre paid to judge

:36:06. > :36:12.it. -- peg. The great David Brent is to look beyond, uses markers beyond

:36:13. > :36:18.the rink that everyone gauges throwing. Rebecca what are you like

:36:19. > :36:26.a. Closer, turning twice. Always coming onto the Jack Andy. She had

:36:27. > :36:29.to get the ball to Lee Mac bowl rather than the Jack. Unfortunately

:36:30. > :36:43.still read but a good attempt. It is getting very interesting now,

:36:44. > :36:55.seven hands and only one shot between them. There are in mind

:36:56. > :37:04.Rebecca Field scored the big four. The back there in mind.

:37:05. > :37:13.This check is close again to the ditch. -- Jack.

:37:14. > :37:23.A question coming through from Twitter asking where is John Price.

:37:24. > :37:29.John has been a regular in the commentary box but he was playing

:37:30. > :37:36.here and lost and now he has a lewd job with Bowls Scotland as a

:37:37. > :37:44.performance coach and manager of Scotland so he is no longer involved

:37:45. > :37:51.would really like to be here but his duties after lining for that. Too

:37:52. > :37:53.many meetings. Yes I think he has. Hopefully you are what we miss you

:37:54. > :38:29.down here John. It would be difficult to move it

:38:30. > :39:04.with that weight. Good position from Rebecca. Ellen is

:39:05. > :39:10.forced on the forehand side now. It is a little bit far for the weight

:39:11. > :39:17.shot. She would have to get it climb in the middle. Either side will win

:39:18. > :39:27.get away and she will be two down. Not a time to start losing

:39:28. > :39:34.multiples. Just the draw. Even if she set of the position although she

:39:35. > :39:47.is close, leave the Jack and get the ball. Had a very good chance. A

:39:48. > :40:15.great attempt. We will see the third delivery. Still lining the one.

:40:16. > :40:34.A couple of options here for Ellen. The plant is perfect for taking the

:40:35. > :40:47.bowl or it is just a draw. Two choices, a hard draw shot though. No

:40:48. > :40:52.position at the back. She know she is wonderful that which is why she

:40:53. > :40:59.is making sure this one is out. Needs the Jack and I say clean with

:41:00. > :41:08.this. Unlucky. May still be just the one. Yes just the one, she will be

:41:09. > :41:16.happy in a way, she thought she would be losing to. Could try,

:41:17. > :41:33.needed a quarter of inside. Time article. -- out called. That is

:41:34. > :41:51.Rebecca's dad in the background, Ian. A nice smile there. He has the

:41:52. > :41:58.voice within, the local lads. A small rented crowd he has brought in

:41:59. > :42:05.from Norwich. Supporting his girl. Any movement on the jacket. 2-3. --

:42:06. > :42:09.Jack here. Had to be careful. Have to be very

:42:10. > :44:15.careful in fact. Just the one. Another useful one. Better than

:44:16. > :44:20.useful. It will just sit to the side of it. A smile from Rebecca, I think

:44:21. > :44:30.she knows she is playing well and that eases the tension and the

:44:31. > :44:35.pressure. Last night they were fighting with the rink a little bit

:44:36. > :44:43.and with deep concentration. If it's crabby towards the end. This is a

:44:44. > :44:49.difficult head for Ellen. Almost having to go for cover and defend

:44:50. > :44:55.the shot. Trying to drop around her own bowl, a useful bowl. Hard to

:44:56. > :45:02.believe that even at this stage you are very vulnerable with the Jack

:45:03. > :45:06.being turned. Rebecca basically has all the play. She's going inside

:45:07. > :45:21.line. It won't hold of them. all the play. She's going inside

:45:22. > :45:29.of them. Didn't have the set of Bowls, it will set up to her.

:45:30. > :45:42.of them. Didn't have the set of colour when in fact you agreed to

:45:43. > :46:02.Once again Bellinger staying away from it. That has set of the angle.

:46:03. > :46:11.-- Rebecca. If anything that has really helped. A pork ball from

:46:12. > :46:17.Ellen. This gives Rebecca a picture. -- Paul. She can force it through

:46:18. > :46:23.position once they storm off the ball for the little bit wiser to

:46:24. > :46:27.come off the edge. A lot closer this time. She is very close and she

:46:28. > :46:53.might use Eleanor's bowl. Could have been a lot worse. Uses

:46:54. > :47:02.the ball, moves the Jack. That could have been through. Looks like one

:47:03. > :47:08.too green. Ellen will be on the time-out. Lots available, there is

:47:09. > :47:18.some danger. She can afford to play through this Ellen. She wants to get

:47:19. > :47:23.through to the red, if she can push the Jack and she can extended into

:47:24. > :47:28.this position. The only danger I see is coming off at an angle and the

:47:29. > :47:35.Boston red bowl disappearing but it looks completely hidden to me. --

:47:36. > :47:39.bottom. It is all in her favour basically, just the target and I

:47:40. > :47:49.think she will score her. Famous last words. The backhand split would

:47:50. > :48:01.be bad that we will see. Going for it. She must get a result. That is

:48:02. > :48:06.it. It looks good. Brilliant turnover, we knew it was possible

:48:07. > :48:15.and that is exactly what happened. I just couldn't see it going wrong for

:48:16. > :48:17.her. That is a big turnaround now. She has been very accurate in this

:48:18. > :48:32.event. Very good shot player. A massive count at that stage. The

:48:33. > :48:42.ninth end as was critical especially when she was two down, one down on

:48:43. > :48:44.the head and probably look Dutchman looked like she would struggle to

:48:45. > :48:51.win. All of a sudden Ellen has gone

:48:52. > :49:43.favourite now. She will be looking to get one or

:49:44. > :49:51.two here into the last end. One behind Ollett. Yellow after the

:49:52. > :49:53.disappointment of the last that is a good opener. She would have been

:49:54. > :50:01.stunned slightly. That is the adjustment which may

:50:02. > :51:04.just hold up for the shot. She has left herself just a little

:51:05. > :51:08.bit open here. A chance for Rebecca, they are very uncertain as to whose

:51:09. > :51:13.line is that you think 14 inches to draw the shot. This looks like the

:51:14. > :51:21.winner coming in. Front of the Jack could make three. That is perfect.

:51:22. > :51:28.That was created by Ellen's last ball. Rebecca will be absolutely

:51:29. > :51:35.delighted with that, there is no way getting out of this. Third delivery,

:51:36. > :51:40.touches the Jack, scores three, perfect bowl. She will she was happy

:51:41. > :51:59.with that. No running ball here for Alan, just

:52:00. > :52:08.a backhand. A lot of pressure. Push it out, give it a chance to get

:52:09. > :52:11.back, a long Jack Lang. -- length. It almost guarantees her if she

:52:12. > :52:18.draws the shot, if she misses then she is all sorts -- in all sorts of

:52:19. > :52:34.trouble going into the last. A big bowl. Backhand draw.

:52:35. > :52:45.All about getting back with good weight. She is in with a chance,

:52:46. > :52:54.doesn't want the gap. That was brilliant. Under pressure and it

:52:55. > :53:04.looks like the shot. Certainly the shot. That was just a great bowl. I

:53:05. > :53:07.thought when she was going through the gap and wanted the ball first,

:53:08. > :53:13.missed that and then got the drop back. Rebecca will be down in the

:53:14. > :53:19.forehand and has the chance to get the ball out and still make 3-4.

:53:20. > :53:23.This is a hard shot, worth going stronger.

:53:24. > :53:31.Yes she is. The body language tells you it's not right. There are balls

:53:32. > :53:37.to come in so it is not finished just yet. She knew it was not on the

:53:38. > :54:20.right line and was hoping for some lock. A great bowl by Ellen though.

:54:21. > :54:30.You are dicing. I thought that had nearly gone. The Jack does scoot

:54:31. > :54:39.over the top of the carpet very quickly. A lot of players have been

:54:40. > :54:43.caught out with that. The margin for error is greater than a normal game,

:54:44. > :54:49.this is three metres so you expect players being able to throw at the

:54:50. > :55:01.full length. This is a three metre tee. No excuses really. A wonderful

:55:02. > :55:12.start. It was moved to three methods to allow the restart for a better

:55:13. > :55:23.position. -- three metre. Years ago of course it was just six feet.

:55:24. > :55:37.Those. In a metric world, five metres. -- those brought up in a.

:55:38. > :55:46.She does not need to build this had out. That is a good bowl. -- head.

:55:47. > :56:25.All of the weight has been taken off that last bowl. Two big last Bowls.

:56:26. > :56:36.They cover bowl going in on the restart. Just approaching death

:56:37. > :56:43.knell is very good. You can't see that respond from the map. It is

:56:44. > :56:51.remarkable how the players can get that sometimes. Yes very good.

:56:52. > :56:59.Rebecca can you get back? I think she will but it is just where the

:57:00. > :57:05.Jack will go. It is one that the chances of picking up a three now

:57:06. > :57:09.become quite called. She knows it will be difficult. There we see the

:57:10. > :57:14.head. Three group together so will be difficult. There we see the

:57:15. > :57:39.behind will be good. Well this has the pace on it, she is

:57:40. > :57:44.all the way up to the Jack but even dropping short is useful. One of

:57:45. > :57:53.those times when a shortfall is very handy to you. A lot depends who is

:57:54. > :57:56.lying third in the. Rebecca has not been studying this for long, it is

:57:57. > :58:04.almost a hit and hope on the forehand. She can punch the red one

:58:05. > :58:10.out to stay in for three but I don't know whose line third shot. That is

:58:11. > :58:20.what going for. Hit the target and hope a number of redpolls move out.

:58:21. > :58:25.Too much weight. The track reds out. The movement of the red was

:58:26. > :58:35.critical. I have a feeling that would have run off, it is only the

:58:36. > :58:42.two. I wonder why it Ellen was smiling. Good effort from Rebecca.

:58:43. > :59:36.Both girls smiling. They are enjoying this.

:59:37. > :59:42.Players are always looking for opportunities where you can get into

:59:43. > :59:47.a head and create something. A great effort to split the bowls through.

:59:48. > :59:53.Just had some movement on the Jack and took it away. Rebecca Field very

:59:54. > :59:59.unlucky there, I thought she would have scored 3-4 but it was Ellen

:00:00. > :00:08.Falkner just hung on. -- who just hung on. Rebecca will be slightly

:00:09. > :00:14.disappointed. She drew slightly better than Ellen. Ellen played the

:00:15. > :00:20.big goals basically. The conversion shot was the one really, that was

:00:21. > :00:26.the critical bowl. The four that Rebecca picked up, Ellen had an odd

:00:27. > :00:35.and, everything was a meat also through. -- a metre or so. We did

:00:36. > :00:43.predict that at the start that Ellen would pay more aggressive.

:00:44. > :01:24.That is just going to go away at the end of its travel, there it goes. A

:01:25. > :01:36.nice weight for the job, only just missing the line. It is not easy out

:01:37. > :01:40.there, I keep telling people that you are getting good balls in the

:01:41. > :01:49.head... You have two be a good player to do that on the Potter

:01:50. > :01:57.rink. It is very demanding. When the rig plays well there is added

:01:58. > :02:02.pressure of being on television, big crowds. Both girls are playing to a

:02:03. > :02:06.good standard. Yes, they are certainly more consistent than they

:02:07. > :02:11.have been in some matches but the women, generally, have been of a

:02:12. > :02:18.very high standard this year. There is a chance here if she wants to

:02:19. > :02:22.take a risk, she cannot afford to be tight. I think she was looking at

:02:23. > :02:26.the shot clock, she rushed that delivery. It was an opportunity to

:02:27. > :02:34.return the ball, returned the jack... The time is there to be

:02:35. > :02:38.used. She's very measured normally in her play, Ellen, she always

:02:39. > :02:45.impresses me. She has the ability to think things through. But, I think

:02:46. > :02:51.she realised that was a missed opportunity. The shot clock was down

:02:52. > :02:56.to four or five seconds, I think that is why there was a rushed

:02:57. > :03:06.action with Ellen. It is the chance for Rebecca here to score a double.

:03:07. > :03:20.Finding the gap. UMPIRE: 1-shot, Rebecca Field. A good final. A big

:03:21. > :03:29.crowd. They always enjoy the women's final here at Potters Leisure

:03:30. > :03:39.Resort. Not many seats there, David! Nope. Or spare seats, I should say.

:03:40. > :03:48.It's the one place where everybody wants to be able to enjoy the balls,

:03:49. > :03:55.get a good view... A lot of players go out into the auditorium to watch,

:03:56. > :04:00.as well. I've seen you sitting on the back row time is there, Andy! I

:04:01. > :04:28.like to get myself tucked out the way. But we find you!

:04:29. > :04:39.After the adrenaline rush of the first set, the first two or three

:04:40. > :04:47.ends in particular of the second set, both players want to settle

:04:48. > :04:53.into the match again. This is good. Wouldn't mind sweeping over a couple

:04:54. > :05:12.of singles, but they will make those count.

:05:13. > :05:27.UMPIRE: The gap is one edge. Last bowl... Three feet.

:05:28. > :05:34.A textbook delivery that. Nice backswing and follow-through. It is

:05:35. > :05:39.getting the follow-through, that is the key to it. Following the line

:05:40. > :05:48.with the hand. Exactly. Really excellent.

:05:49. > :06:06.A nice follow-through from Ellen as well here.

:06:07. > :06:12.That one dropped a little short, but... It's the chance to make a

:06:13. > :06:14.correction with the last ball. By then, it should be three against

:06:15. > :06:42.her. That may come in useful. I think

:06:43. > :06:53.is just a draw for it That may come in useful. I think

:06:54. > :07:01.ball, give her a second. Two down, no drive shot available, really. I

:07:02. > :07:07.don't know if she likes the backhand in this direction. She's played many

:07:08. > :07:09.good drawing balls in it. That is narrow looking. I don't think she's

:07:10. > :07:14.picked a line here. narrow looking. I don't think she's

:07:15. > :07:23.ball was good, she had to follow that one an extra foot or so. She

:07:24. > :07:29.has misaligned. Compromising in that situation the backhand. A good start

:07:30. > :07:39.for Rebecca, though. 3-0 up after two ends.

:07:40. > :07:47.It would be nice to question on twitter about how the markers, the

:07:48. > :07:53.umpires, judge the distance. Those white dots are a metre apart, a

:07:54. > :08:00.minimum set of one 23. They can calculate exactly where it is in

:08:01. > :08:04.relation to the mat. It makes for a quick game, so they can set the jack

:08:05. > :08:50.in line. UMPIRE: Last bowl, 14 inches short

:08:51. > :08:51.of jack. 14 inches, she still feels confident of drawing round the

:08:52. > :09:10.opening ball from Ellen. Inside of the ball. That's OK. That

:09:11. > :09:15.is fine. We do everything in metres now, but bowlers are used to working

:09:16. > :09:21.in inches and feet and yards, aren't they? Yes, I think the terminology

:09:22. > :09:24.when trying to tell her partners and opponents, it is all feet and

:09:25. > :09:33.inches, that's how we've been brought up really. I guess it is all

:09:34. > :09:35.on method for schoolchildren now. So many other countries in the world

:09:36. > :09:39.were already metric, it many other countries in the world

:09:40. > :09:46.few years ago, so it was voted to go to metric distances. That's the

:09:47. > :09:51.reason behind it. I think if we were telling some of her players they

:09:52. > :09:57.were ten centimetres short, they would be thinking, what is that?

:09:58. > :10:03.That would not work. You say four inches, they know exactly where they

:10:04. > :10:10.are. Correct, they do. A missed chance with Rebecca's ball.

:10:11. > :10:15.Interesting to see what they decide here, it will be very difficult to

:10:16. > :10:18.draw the shot. She will be positive on the backhand, that looks a good

:10:19. > :10:24.backhand shot. Just inside of the line. Forcing the ball through with

:10:25. > :10:29.a bit of weight. Here it comes. Playing the right shot here, you

:10:30. > :10:36.want to move the ball and not the jack. Got it, perfect. She was

:10:37. > :10:43.prepared to take that risk. It's whether the front red one is

:10:44. > :10:49.counting. Ellen's ball on target, taking the shot, moving her on. If

:10:50. > :10:53.she hit it full, there may have been a slight touch in the jack. Her aim

:10:54. > :11:00.would have been in the perfect position for that. A good running

:11:01. > :11:02.ball, she played it well. Rebecca, promoting her own ball. A closer

:11:03. > :11:21.shot. Just going through that yard. Is

:11:22. > :11:30.that one read here, David? It is showing one red. I think it is

:11:31. > :11:32.just... I think so. Just hearing a few confirmations that they think it

:11:33. > :11:52.is right. -- red. This ball needs to stop to

:11:53. > :12:12.count for Ellen. It needs to be slightly up. Too far through. Ellen

:12:13. > :12:17.need that. -- Ellen needed that. She did not want Rebecca to get further

:12:18. > :12:30.ahead. It is a long set at 11 ends, you don't want your opponent to be

:12:31. > :12:34.four, five or six in front. Ellen it is resisting any temptation

:12:35. > :12:38.to change this length. I feel as though she is getting a little out

:12:39. > :12:44.drawn in Mr action. She will change this a little bit, David. I think

:12:45. > :12:53.you are probably right. -- in the action. The players could

:12:54. > :12:57.go short with the jack. It is who is prepared to take the risk first. I

:12:58. > :13:03.feel Rebecca is getting in first in this direction. Once again, it is

:13:04. > :13:08.two feet. I would expect Rebecca to beat that. Is that the right

:13:09. > :13:31.technique for Ellen? A chance for Ellen, a slight

:13:32. > :14:11.adjustment in line and wait. -- weight.

:14:12. > :14:17.Ellen, popping another one in. In a strong position. A perfect ball.

:14:18. > :14:32.Trying to touch her here. I don't think she's got it. It's an

:14:33. > :14:38.opportunity to reach up for the ball jack, she has the back position. She

:14:39. > :14:45.can afford the player a reaching draw, as we call it. A couple of

:14:46. > :14:49.chances. However, there is the tendency to

:14:50. > :14:56.hold out there, if she plays with that weight. Teasing but it is so

:14:57. > :15:00.difficult to manufacture sometimes. You really have to use the mat a

:15:01. > :15:06.lot, it would be on the outside edge, though from outside N. That is

:15:07. > :15:15.what you would say. Get a flat line. -- outside in. A chance for Ellen to

:15:16. > :15:26.draw another. This certainly looks better. Needing to break back. Not

:15:27. > :15:31.bad. Not bad. UMPIRE: Two read. It's in, but the two balls will

:15:32. > :15:35.disappear. I would be inclined to play this with some weight, there

:15:36. > :15:41.are two chances that the jack is good as well. Ellen's last ball

:15:42. > :15:48.makes it a bigger target. She would be more positive inside the line.

:15:49. > :15:59.She's thrown at high again. This has to have perfect weight... It will

:16:00. > :16:11.never get that. If she went in a bit stronger... Definitely. A good

:16:12. > :16:15.choice of shots from Rebecca. Unfortunately, that ball is not

:16:16. > :16:31.available on the brink at this time. Ellen gets back to tying the set. --

:16:32. > :16:36.rink. A magnificent arena. To play balls, see whether Jack is

:16:37. > :16:46.going this time. It looks safe, but coming up again towards the T. 28.5

:16:47. > :16:56.metres, one short of a full length. A lot of players will use their own

:16:57. > :16:59.balls, Andy. There are pool balls available, different colour,

:17:00. > :17:04.manufacture, weight and grips, other things. Many players do use their

:17:05. > :17:11.own, but most of them coming through don't have a read and a green set.

:17:12. > :17:15.The current 16 top players have their own reds and greens, not a

:17:16. > :17:20.problem for them but if you are qualifying, it is a problem. All of

:17:21. > :17:25.the manufacturers also here. You can come and choose them, practice with

:17:26. > :17:33.them. See what suits you best. That is a good start. Nicky Brett, he has

:17:34. > :17:38.seven different sets in the back of his car. Different sizes, biases...

:17:39. > :17:44.He cannot make his mind up, used terrible. He'll be having a go at me

:17:45. > :17:48.shortly when he sees me -- he is terrible. Maybe that is why he is

:17:49. > :18:14.the world number one? The follow-up ball to a really good

:18:15. > :18:17.first one, it needs to get past... That is closer than what I thought.

:18:18. > :18:25.I thought it was going to be under, I have to say. But it is still about

:18:26. > :18:31.18 inches too short. Forcing Ellen to play the forehand side. Playing a

:18:32. > :18:37.good few balls down the side, Ellen. She had to think about leading off

:18:38. > :18:43.it. A good effort in the second ball, I'm happy with that. Hasn't

:18:44. > :18:47.been getting to the jack on the backhand is, she has to think put

:18:48. > :19:14.her league ball on the floor, see how it goes.

:19:15. > :19:43.A full hand draw here for Ellen. Similar to the previous delivery. I

:19:44. > :19:49.don't think she's here... No. Not really a shot here for Rebecca. It's

:19:50. > :19:55.just a draw. But a safe one? Yes, no danger. Nice drawn the forehand

:19:56. > :19:58.side, hopefully she can pick a two up. -- nice draw on the forehand

:19:59. > :20:25.side. Close. It just needs to stop. I

:20:26. > :20:28.think that counts. It could be. That is close. It is a tight one. Very

:20:29. > :20:50.tight indeed. Getting a measure... I think that is

:20:51. > :21:01.very sensible. Large calibre is. -- calibres. A simple intranet but

:21:02. > :21:26.incredibly accurate. I love tools, generally. I'm a great

:21:27. > :21:35.man for trying different things out. Umpire two shots, Rebecca Field. --

:21:36. > :21:45.My tool shed at home is full of all UMPIRE: Two shots, Rebecca Field.

:21:46. > :21:51.My tool shed at home is full of all sorts of weird and wonderful things.

:21:52. > :22:02.But I've bought over the years or inherited from my father.

:22:03. > :22:13.UMPIRE: Jack length 27.5 metres. That's the trouble when you see a

:22:14. > :22:19.bookcase or something, Andy. My wife says, you could make that! Yes, not

:22:20. > :22:28.for me really. I'm not a great DIY man. Well, that looks like it are a

:22:29. > :22:32.turtle ball but I'll be truthful... -- that looks like a terrible ball.

:22:33. > :22:39.UMPIRE: Thank you, ladies and gentlemen. The crowd aren't used to

:22:40. > :22:42.that. You miss by four or five inches, but you get absolutely

:22:43. > :22:48.hammered on the forehand. Punishing hard. The margins of error when you

:22:49. > :22:56.are looking down the tight line of very small. A big swinging ball and

:22:57. > :23:05.you have to have faith in it. A correction here from Rebecca.

:23:06. > :23:09.The sign of a good player, really. Ignore the bad balls, get back on

:23:10. > :23:20.the mat and start all over again. That is what she has done. Well

:23:21. > :23:29.played. She would put herself a bit wider.

:23:30. > :23:46.Trying hard with this one. Good stuff. A lovely correction.

:23:47. > :23:55.That may force her onto the backhand. Just a draw.

:23:56. > :24:05.Just needs to keep the weight to hold this up, very close to it... A

:24:06. > :24:09.great ball. A lovely view of that from our commentary position. You

:24:10. > :24:16.can see the ball going down. In that line. You can see Rebecca's third

:24:17. > :24:23.delivery, pushing the ball out, moving the jack. The umpire just

:24:24. > :24:29.said, one red and a measure, and corrected very quickly.

:24:30. > :24:32.One green and a measure. Playing the backhand draw... I don't think she

:24:33. > :24:41.was drawing many good shots on this backhand. She's putting it into a

:24:42. > :24:48.good position. Rebecca must think about this. A

:24:49. > :24:51.back ball would be very useful, no doubt of that. I think this is

:24:52. > :25:08.probably a good spot. Well, we will know by the line that

:25:09. > :25:12.she takes. Certainly not on the re-spot line.

:25:13. > :25:18.No, but she's pushed it out and has two beat her own ball. Getting a bit

:25:19. > :25:28.close to it. Happy enough with that. The deepest ball. I think Ellen will

:25:29. > :25:33.be positive here. A good shot, down on the backhand. You could almost

:25:34. > :25:38.play this with any hand. I think Ellen favours the forehand side with

:25:39. > :25:55.those balls. She will play it heavy with the forehand.

:25:56. > :26:03.Very close to the jack. Wow! I thought she was on target but she

:26:04. > :26:11.just got the perfect edge. She was in the area, but she just gets it

:26:12. > :26:15.slightly fortunate on the jack. She took her own red one out on the

:26:16. > :26:22.back. Had they gone through, it would have been a one to Rebecca. It

:26:23. > :26:27.is fractions, isn't it? It is, Ellen Falkner has been playing the back

:26:28. > :26:30.balls, that was another big one. Set to go further down in the set. She

:26:31. > :26:48.is hanging in with the big balls. UMPIRE: Jack length 26.5 metres.

:26:49. > :26:59.There is the first real change now, 26.5 metres. It's going to happen

:27:00. > :27:03.sometime. I think it is a good idea. Ellen has been losing the battle

:27:04. > :27:11.going in this direction, longer Jack length, she drops this one short. It

:27:12. > :27:19.is a good tactic. Rebecca appears to be getting closer with the opening

:27:20. > :27:31.deliveries. I think she is shaking, Rebecca as well, both opening ball

:27:32. > :28:02.is not very good. -- balls. UMPIRE: Three feet.

:28:03. > :28:08.We have people viewing this final around the world. Stuart in Norway

:28:09. > :28:20.is tuning in. I know you like to speak many

:28:21. > :28:27.languages, I wondered if you could have replied to him in Norwegian?

:28:28. > :28:31.Nope. OK. Contact all around the world. Stuart Gray will be back for

:28:32. > :28:40.the summer season at Thornton Bowling club. I hope we have a

:28:41. > :28:50.summer to enjoy. Once again, it good forehand side. She's losing that

:28:51. > :28:52.battle quite often in the first two. But the recovery balls have been

:28:53. > :29:02.excellent. She's been recovering well.

:29:03. > :29:14.Just needs to bend quickly... The great weight is just high... A lot

:29:15. > :29:22.of time-outs available. For some reason, Annan is not bothering much.

:29:23. > :29:34.-- Ellen Falkner. She has plenty of time here, ten seconds.

:29:35. > :29:45.The target ball, the green one just beyond the jack. If it misses,

:29:46. > :29:52.that's good. Unlucky. It just sticks a little bare once again. -- there.

:29:53. > :30:13.A backhand draw for Rebecca. This looks close. Certainly needs

:30:14. > :30:20.the Jack and it'll be very close to it. Perfect Waite. Absolutely

:30:21. > :30:42.perfect weight. -- weight. The final delivery needed the Jack,

:30:43. > :30:44.falls back and still scores. A bump of the fistful that one. A bigshot

:30:45. > :32:12.Rebecca. That is not a good one. That is a

:32:13. > :32:19.very good bowl there because that is were Ellen will try and bring the

:32:20. > :32:25.very good bowl there because that is Jack. Just asking where is the

:32:26. > :32:34.nearest green wall, a similar ball to the opening delivery, 14-15

:32:35. > :32:38.inches. Just a draw. Weight has a chance for this one, just needs to

:32:39. > :32:54.arrive now. Doesn't want to drop back. A delayed response. Here we

:32:55. > :32:57.see Helen's second delivery. Clutches the Jack but the crowd were

:32:58. > :33:08.anticipating it falling on and it did not move. They could head of

:33:09. > :33:11.balls. -- a good head of bowls. More the weight than anything, the inside

:33:12. > :33:18.line was not a problem because she could turn her own bowl over. She

:33:19. > :33:24.wants to be careful now, if that drops the Jack will go the green. I

:33:25. > :33:31.just wonder will she played the back safe or be very brave on the

:33:32. > :33:36.forehand. A difficult one I think she will do that but

:33:37. > :33:53.That was two seconds. She is staying away from.

:33:54. > :34:09.I tell you what she's having a good go with this one. Very handy.

:34:10. > :34:14.All within one foot, three within six inches. Good stuff. Good

:34:15. > :34:41.standard. I would be taking one here. She is

:34:42. > :34:51.tempted because the movement of the Jack is the problem. That is where

:34:52. > :34:59.the danger is and any touch on that, the Jack will move and probably end

:35:00. > :35:09.up... Very sensible. I thought she might. A match where single shots

:35:10. > :35:12.are so important. She did not want to go three shots down with a

:35:13. > :35:21.deficit to one so she keeps in the game.

:35:22. > :35:28.They're in mind of course Ellen Falkner can draw the set. -- there.

:35:29. > :36:13.Rebecca has the win by at least one lay shot. One clear.

:36:14. > :36:21.This way continues to be a bit of a problem for Ellen with her first

:36:22. > :36:26.bowl. The bit too late to change but a feud ends ago I thought she should

:36:27. > :36:33.think about the forehand. She was forced onto its like now she plays

:36:34. > :36:40.better bowls, the pattern tends the repeated, Rebecca first and then

:36:41. > :36:45.Ellen retrieves. It is about who scores the shot at the end of the

:36:46. > :36:54.day. Once again a change of hand for Ellen. That is what she would have

:36:55. > :36:58.been looking for with her first one. As you say, sometimes awkward to

:36:59. > :37:15.change in the end of a game. A bit of a gamble.

:37:16. > :37:21.The player behind really wants to school on this end. For the opponent

:37:22. > :37:28.to chase the match in the last two which is exactly what Rebecca will

:37:29. > :37:34.have to do, if she loses the shot here. Going very quick, just need

:37:35. > :37:44.the Jack. She's got it. Just not enough. Once again playing the 400

:37:45. > :37:47.well. Rebecca coming to have a look at the Schmeichel beforehand. Don't

:37:48. > :38:01.think she will like what she sees. The difficulty for Rebecca is if she

:38:02. > :38:05.tries to play the forehand she has to be very careful of the Jack but

:38:06. > :38:12.she plays the backhand and get into this area here, it has to be useful

:38:13. > :38:21.if it's in there. I agree, a good call, that is where I would be.

:38:22. > :38:30.She will be expecting Ellen to attack the head. -- Ellen.

:38:31. > :38:43.A good temperament. -- a good bowl. A little bit further than what she

:38:44. > :38:51.wanted that played the right sort of shots, I think she wanted the other

:38:52. > :38:55.side of the red ball. I would not be surprised if she played a backhand

:38:56. > :39:05.runner here. Also some things to come off here. Just depends on how

:39:06. > :39:12.much weight she uses. Going strong, will it hold? She is calling it to

:39:13. > :39:15.hold. It always looks like it was going to hit the back one and she

:39:16. > :39:25.was just on the wrong side. Was not far away. A really good effort.

:39:26. > :39:33.Ellen's all, always on the underside, doesn't take it out. The

:39:34. > :39:41.momentum goes on to the bowl onto the other pole which offers Rebecca

:39:42. > :39:51.and opportunity -- bowl. She can be brave with this, no danger in giving

:39:52. > :40:01.it away. Just lacking pace. Can't blame her. A real choice for home

:40:02. > :40:52.now and now Ellen needs to win the end.

:40:53. > :41:04.A tight set here, not a lot of big scores flying about. Very few

:41:05. > :41:34.opportunities to score troubles or a full house. -- treble.

:41:35. > :41:43.The short bowl going in. Correction made. Those are just dropping away?

:41:44. > :42:00.That has just dropped away on the shot.

:42:01. > :42:11.Really good bowl. That is what she needed. Shows that the board has

:42:12. > :42:22.touched the Jack stays live in the ditch. The second delivery, perfect

:42:23. > :42:28.bowl. This looks well under. That is the forehand inside the line. I

:42:29. > :42:34.don't think Ellen wants to play this now. Quite important that she does

:42:35. > :42:39.add another, it will put in a good position going into the final end.

:42:40. > :42:43.She did not want to leave the shoulder so what she's doing the

:42:44. > :42:53.back and trying come in around the back of the Jack. -- backhand. It's

:42:54. > :43:00.some position. This is good. They're very handy bowl. They won't be

:43:01. > :43:11.some position. This is good. They're well decide to have a touch of the

:43:12. > :43:18.Jack and aim for four. At this moment I would suggest she would be

:43:19. > :43:24.very happy with two. Rebecca one or two down does not make much

:43:25. > :43:32.difference coming into the final. She would not want to drop a three.

:43:33. > :43:36.She adjusted the line but unfortunately the little weight on.

:43:37. > :43:39.This is an interesting situation here because the forehand if you

:43:40. > :43:46.touch the outside of the red will go closer to the green, the backhand

:43:47. > :43:50.very close to adding another and one more gives her a little bit of space

:43:51. > :43:54.in the last and can afford to lose single.

:43:55. > :43:59.in the last and can afford to lose on the back the

:44:00. > :44:08.issue has not played many good on the side. That was important to add

:44:09. > :44:17.another. Too heavy, the line is perfect though. A one end shoot out

:44:18. > :44:26.for the second set to win the trophy and the title. I think Rebecca had a

:44:27. > :45:03.poor and there, she got away with it. -- poor end.

:45:04. > :45:08.This has been a wonderful game between Ellen Falkner and Rebecca

:45:09. > :45:12.Field. Ellen Falkner took the first shot 10-9 and the second set

:45:13. > :45:20.perfectly poised going into the last end at 7-7. This end will be

:45:21. > :45:27.interesting in terms of tactics. end at 7-7. This end will be

:45:28. > :45:34.They certainly won't be worried about scoring

:45:35. > :45:39.They certainly won't be worried win the game. If Ellen wins she

:45:40. > :45:43.takes the trophy but if Rebecca wins we go into a tie-break to stop does

:45:44. > :45:54.not want the Jack first but she ran with it, a little touch. She held

:45:55. > :45:59.onto so I would agree this is almost like a tie-break now. Doesn't matter

:46:00. > :46:09.who scores. I think she will run at this. I think so this is not drawn

:46:10. > :46:20.bowl. -- draw able. Just trying to wrest it. The bad bowl in, always

:46:21. > :46:24.would be handy but she will attack. Obviously has come down to have a

:46:25. > :46:37.look, she will feel positive now will Ellen. Rebecca really can't go

:46:38. > :46:49.near this. Cover shot. Quite rightly keeping why. Anticipating a drive

:46:50. > :47:02.from Alan. -- Ellen. I will expect beforehand run here.

:47:03. > :47:11.The backhand is not being used maybe because the bowl will come across

:47:12. > :47:22.the centreline better. Close the something. Good effort. Well I can

:47:23. > :47:26.understand why she plays it but anything I don't like about the

:47:27. > :47:31.backhand is the green will go under the Jack in the ditch. Forehand,

:47:32. > :47:40.better chance of whizzing the bowl out. I think she plays the forehand

:47:41. > :47:45.run well Ellen, I'm slightly surprised there. Rebecca will be

:47:46. > :47:54.staying away from this. Can't do anything about the head. Going the

:47:55. > :48:03.again. Just saying to Ellen if you get this good on you. I still think

:48:04. > :48:08.the forehand was off centre and it'll be a better shot to get there.

:48:09. > :48:13.The one thing I really think is an issue for Ellen is if she gets the

:48:14. > :48:19.bowl, that Jack always in that direction and there are green bulls

:48:20. > :48:24.waiting. That is what I'm saying, I would be playing this on the

:48:25. > :48:29.forehand. It is off centre so often this is where the bowl holds out. It

:48:30. > :48:43.is a better shot because of that. -- green balls. Plenty of time-outs

:48:44. > :48:49.available. She gets this right she will be hard to be. Certainly. It

:48:50. > :49:00.would be a difficult shot for Rebecca. Pick your hand. To me it's

:49:01. > :49:07.the forehand. She is looking at now. She didn't hear us of course, that

:49:08. > :49:31.is not possible. It really is a forehand shot. Very close. She got

:49:32. > :49:34.it. Played it to perfection. She has got the shot back and holds a

:49:35. > :49:53.championship line. This is interesting, is she line one

:49:54. > :49:57.or two? Time-outs called. It is close. I would say if Rebecca is

:49:58. > :50:03.lying second shots she will drive this out or get it in a ditch. She

:50:04. > :50:10.will drive anywhere. Hard to draw Andy. Very hard and this is a runner

:50:11. > :50:14.as well. It depends how much weight she wants to use. It is a big target

:50:15. > :50:22.but the second shot is critical here. I think it is a forehand run

:50:23. > :50:28.as well, the same hand as Ellen. Going for the heavy shot. What is

:50:29. > :50:40.her line like? It looks as if she is under. Making the gap. A wonderful

:50:41. > :50:48.game here stop Willett. Ellen Falkner takes it too-0 but they were

:50:49. > :50:55.big bowls. That was the difference between the two players. However

:50:56. > :51:02.Alan and experienced player had a great result -- Ellen. She has come

:51:03. > :51:07.back well, have a gap of the years and is combat very strong. Very

:51:08. > :51:18.tight matches, 10-9, 8-7, a wonderful final.

:51:19. > :51:25.Right from the far this was an interesting game. Ellen Falkner was

:51:26. > :51:31.showing her prowess and how she can draw so well under pressure.

:51:32. > :51:39.Sneaking between the two goals for the shot. And then three. Rebecca

:51:40. > :51:43.and not letting away with it, the last bowl draw and then this was the

:51:44. > :51:55.big bowl, pushed the Jack through all the way, a massive turnaround.

:51:56. > :52:05.I'm Ellen, a set against and draws a number one. So close Rebecca, made

:52:06. > :52:17.the contact. Ellen again with the drive. A beautiful draw on the

:52:18. > :52:20.backhand. This is where the key once, those big balls, the big

:52:21. > :52:31.drives, getting the bowl and the run-through. Rebecca couldn't

:52:32. > :52:36.recover and she takes the match. Very little between the players and

:52:37. > :52:45.that'll be stood the Mac in the statistics I'm sure. Just one shot

:52:46. > :52:52.extra each set and nothing in between them in touches. Fantastic

:52:53. > :52:54.game. Those big shots by Ellen Falkner, she drew on the years of

:52:55. > :53:08.experience to get over the line. It was indeed a very close final,

:53:09. > :53:12.Rebecca we would shut the first. We say very close but these one margin

:53:13. > :53:18.Cisco the other way. How well did you play? I've played well, I put

:53:19. > :53:25.Ellen under pressure and that was the way to bowl today. She had a

:53:26. > :53:30.very brave one on the conversion for four, a massive turnaround neighbour

:53:31. > :53:35.she was brilliant so I can't take it away from her. You have to be proud

:53:36. > :53:40.of your performance as well? You spoke before the match about how

:53:41. > :53:44.comfortable you were this year and in fairness that is your third final

:53:45. > :53:50.nail in the last four years. I love coming here it is great to pop down

:53:51. > :53:57.the road and I have so many people in the crowd. You have nothing to

:53:58. > :54:03.feel sorry for. Great effort today. Ellen congratulations. It has been

:54:04. > :54:10.ten years since he last won the title, I hate to say that our love.

:54:11. > :54:16.You make me sound old I'm only 36. That's how good you are from so

:54:17. > :54:21.soon. Rebecca played incredibly well and I think she summed it up

:54:22. > :54:26.perfectly, she put me under pressure and it working versions that made

:54:27. > :54:31.the difference. What a great spectacle here today and I'm glad we

:54:32. > :54:33.both performed well in the final. We have been treated to someone before

:54:34. > :54:36.matches, just give us an idea of how have been treated to someone before

:54:37. > :54:40.different it is to have to have been treated to someone before

:54:41. > :54:45.the best in a final here in front of a full house? There is the sleep a

:54:46. > :54:47.lot of pressure and expectation, I think we came out with the attitude

:54:48. > :54:52.around what will be will be Angie think we came out with the attitude

:54:53. > :54:59.out to perform your bus and try give a great game. Two players who have a

:55:00. > :55:03.lot to be proud of the players who have a lot to be proud about ladies

:55:04. > :55:20.and gentlemen your champion is Ellen Falkner.

:55:21. > :55:25.Will you please show appreciation for our presentation

:55:26. > :55:32.party. The chief executive Officer of world Bowls and our tournament

:55:33. > :55:38.director Mr Richard Madison. Along with the marketing of services for

:55:39. > :55:50.retirement and the gore. -- Anthony Gore. Your appreciation to our

:55:51. > :56:10.runner-up. Your appreciation for Rebecca Field.

:56:11. > :56:19.And now to the winner receiving a langue glass trophy, a check and the

:56:20. > :56:27.title of the just retirement 2016 ladies World Matchplay Champion, it

:56:28. > :56:45.is Ellen Falkner. CROWD CHEERING

:56:46. > :57:09.For the third time in her career the 2016 ladies

:57:10. > :57:18.As I said 10-year is to get her hands back on

:57:19. > :57:26.the trophy and David who is alongside me, that she will cherish

:57:27. > :57:30.enormously? When you wake that length of time, Ellen has been back

:57:31. > :57:33.since but it is not unwell for her. She has dreaded a lot of things and

:57:34. > :57:39.came back this year and pushes world-class player. Once

:57:40. > :57:41.came back this year and pushes players, we expected a Thai final

:57:42. > :57:45.and it was players, we expected a Thai final

:57:46. > :57:49.not only that but it had the usual drama as well. You would lose get

:57:50. > :57:51.that too played well. The big advantage Ritchie was that Rebecca

:57:52. > :57:55.that too played well. The big played consistently than she did in

:57:56. > :57:59.the semis. Having said that, Ellen played the big balls at the right

:58:00. > :58:04.time. That is the one thing which these two by car. We

:58:05. > :58:06.time. That is the one thing which Marshall earlier this week, when the

:58:07. > :58:13.chips are down, the cream rises to the top. Yes it does, especially on

:58:14. > :58:16.the weighted shots. That was critical for Ellen Falkner, she knew

:58:17. > :58:19.when to play and they are not easy here which got

:58:20. > :58:21.when to play and they are not easy end. One thing we must talk about is

:58:22. > :58:27.the fourth. Even Rebecca Field referred to in Heron 's the match,

:58:28. > :58:35.how important of the turning point was that? She would have been

:58:36. > :58:39.chasing the match, it was a great bowl. When you look at this, we knew

:58:40. > :58:47.that it was on, we could see it was on. All the way through, she turned

:58:48. > :58:55.it 1-2 down to four up. A wonderful moment. She delivered her final bowl

:58:56. > :58:59.in the second set at the end is Mac she is a very accomplished skip at

:59:00. > :59:03.international level. I watched I recently and she is a very good

:59:04. > :59:10.player on the weight shots. I believe there is was a chance when

:59:11. > :59:14.you are Ellen. Just give people an idea at home who are not aware, she

:59:15. > :59:19.has been successful, Delhi, the Commonwealth Games, the Glasgow

:59:20. > :59:25.Commonwealth Games but why not take? Circumstance. Eager to the

:59:26. > :59:29.qualifying procedure and the ranking points, all of that comes into it

:59:30. > :59:33.and she had a chance issue times and lost in the first much so it was

:59:34. > :59:36.time to move on and she got the opportunity this year but it is

:59:37. > :59:41.proving that and it is that maturity. That is the critical bit,

:59:42. > :59:45.the maturity of a number of years playing at the top level. Ellen is

:59:46. > :59:50.to standing by. Come on in with the trophy. How does it feel to

:59:51. > :59:54.to standing by. Come on in with the over the moon and what a game, I'm

:59:55. > :59:58.delighted to have this in my hand right now. We will show you the

:59:59. > :00:02.final bowl of the match, the moment things are almost sealed. Give us an

:00:03. > :00:07.idea of what the emotion was like at this point. I knew I had to get the

:00:08. > :00:11.bowl clean and not the Jack moving because Rebecca had covered the

:00:12. > :00:15.back. When I got this and it only just move the Jack I gave myself a

:00:16. > :00:20.chance to hold the game and mentally I was preparing for a tie-break. It

:00:21. > :00:25.was relief when I managed to hold on.

:00:26. > :00:32.In the interim you have had some great success in the Commonwealth

:00:33. > :00:35.Games. Absolutely, I have been very lucky and privileged to represent

:00:36. > :00:40.England in a number of games and come out with gold medals in three

:00:41. > :00:46.of four. I have been lucky playing in other things, but unfortunately

:00:47. > :00:50.haven't done well here at Potters since 2007 and the mixed pairs in

:00:51. > :00:54.2012 with Greg. It is nice to come here, perform well and get the

:00:55. > :00:59.trophy. What about the qualities of the players we have seen, young

:01:00. > :01:07.players.. You are in your mid-30s, Rebecca in her 20s. All these young

:01:08. > :01:11.players. Give people at home in idea of the strength of the women's game

:01:12. > :01:15.at the moment? It is incredible and the game will only go from strength

:01:16. > :01:20.to strength as a result. Everyone is pushing for their places. There is a

:01:21. > :01:23.lot of talent coming through. Young players can come in and see their

:01:24. > :01:27.way through to playing at the highest level. That Spurs everybody

:01:28. > :01:32.on, because they want to have a go at the top stuff. You have been up

:01:33. > :01:37.in the commentary box watching Ellen all week. He has been assessing it

:01:38. > :01:41.all and had nothing but nice things to say about you. Now she is next

:01:42. > :01:45.due, what do you have to say about what she has done? I'm glad she

:01:46. > :01:51.didn't have an earpiece in on the last bowl. We were in the commentary

:01:52. > :01:54.box saying, move to the forehand because the opportunity to get the

:01:55. > :01:59.high line. The vast majority of players would have had another go on

:02:00. > :02:03.the backhand but Ellen had the confidence to move. The jack was off

:02:04. > :02:07.centre, she thought the forehand was a better way to go and played it to

:02:08. > :02:15.perfection. The third time you have won this trophy. Does it change

:02:16. > :02:20.question 2005, 2006 and 20 16. What is the difference? It is probably

:02:21. > :02:24.more special. As you go for things over the years, you have the lows

:02:25. > :02:29.and it makes you appreciate the highs. Very special and very happy.

:02:30. > :02:33.How will you celebrate tonight or very soon? Not sure but I think

:02:34. > :02:39.there might be the odd glass of wine in the occasion! He will be hanging

:02:40. > :02:44.around for a spare drink! Congratulations to Ellen Falkner,

:02:45. > :02:47.the champion at Potters in 2016. Now we will concentrate on the

:02:48. > :02:52.singles club edition. We can show you what the draw looks like at the

:02:53. > :02:59.start of today. Alex Marshall and Stu Anderson came through yesterday.

:03:00. > :03:04.Alex Marshall in the wonderful encounter against Mark Dawes. We are

:03:05. > :03:10.concentrating on the match between Greg Harlow and Darren Burnett. Greg

:03:11. > :03:18.Harlow is a former champion, in 2010 he won the title. And he represents

:03:19. > :03:23.the city of Ely, who are celebrating the success of Ellen Falkner earlier

:03:24. > :03:27.this afternoon. His partner, Darren Burnett has had a wonderful time in

:03:28. > :03:32.the last couple of years. He won the world singles time to in 2014 having

:03:33. > :03:37.previously won the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Don't

:03:38. > :03:40.forget, he has a ready won two trophies this week in the pairs and

:03:41. > :03:49.mixed pairs of that we can hear from Darren now.

:03:50. > :03:55.The hat-trick is going to be spoken about, it was spoken about last year

:03:56. > :03:59.when Robert did the double. That's great, I don't mind it being spoken

:04:00. > :04:03.about, but it is a long way off and not even something I am considering

:04:04. > :04:07.at this stage. It is a really tough game. It is great to be in a

:04:08. > :04:14.position to be doing it, but it is not something I am really thinking

:04:15. > :04:17.about. You dream of coming down here and winning the pairs, the mixed

:04:18. > :04:21.pairs, and the singles, but it doesn't always happen. This

:04:22. > :04:26.everything has tapped into place, so far, so good. It is always good to

:04:27. > :04:30.come here and get any of the titles up for grabs, but let's not kid

:04:31. > :04:33.ourselves, they are separate events. Everyone who comes down here would

:04:34. > :04:37.focus on the singles being the primary event. It is great that I

:04:38. > :04:42.have had a good run in the other ones, but the singles is the big

:04:43. > :04:47.one. I have played well in the past. This will be my ninth game in the

:04:48. > :04:53.tournament. It is very difficult to keep that former as high. Now any

:04:54. > :04:57.mistakes are probably going to eliminate me. The pressure is on. I

:04:58. > :05:01.have to play the same level to have any chance of getting through. That

:05:02. > :05:05.will be the key aspect, can I keep that concentration on the level of

:05:06. > :05:09.performance up where I need to? The matches are so tight even if you

:05:10. > :05:14.drop 10%, you will lose, the players are that good quality. I have to

:05:15. > :05:18.play the way I have. That is a question, can I keep that up? Greg

:05:19. > :05:23.Harlow is the ambassador for the complex that Potters. He is firmly

:05:24. > :05:27.in the brickwork now. It will be a very tough game. Greg is on great

:05:28. > :05:32.form and won the event in Scotland. He is the one in the ranking list

:05:33. > :05:37.rocketing up quite high. But my former is good and if I can continue

:05:38. > :05:42.playing the way I am, it could be a good game.

:05:43. > :05:46.Darren stands on the brink of an unprecedented treble here. Robert

:05:47. > :05:54.Paxton has come close, Mark Foster, Alex Marshall. What chance has

:05:55. > :05:57.Darren Burnett. Doing what they haven't and going one further? All

:05:58. > :06:00.the pieces are in place. He has been playing a lot of politician in the

:06:01. > :06:05.last few days, really in the groove and Greg has had to wait a week from

:06:06. > :06:09.his last match. -- a lot of competition in the last few days.

:06:10. > :06:15.But practice is different to match play. We will see who comes out on

:06:16. > :06:20.top, Darren Burnett and Greg Harlow, two very good players about to roll

:06:21. > :06:28.up on the blue brink. Let's hand over to our MC. Thank you. First,

:06:29. > :06:31.one of the game's most naturally gifted players, three times at the

:06:32. > :06:42.International open and indoor singles champion, Potters

:06:43. > :07:06.and it is always a pleasure to indoor pairs and world indoors mixed

:07:07. > :07:14.champion, ladies and gentlemen, Darren Burnett.

:07:15. > :07:34.don't forget, if you want to get in touch with us, send us your tweets.

:07:35. > :07:39.It makes my teaching to David Corkill all worthwhile. He now knows

:07:40. > :07:47.how to use Twitter! Alongside him for this afternoon's commentary,

:07:48. > :07:55.Andrew. COMMENTATOR: You are a very harsh man, Rishi. I learned about

:07:56. > :08:00.trending last year. He even supplied me with a trendy tablet and said, do

:08:01. > :08:13.you know how to use one that's what I do, I've got one at home.

:08:14. > :08:18.Greg bringing the mat up, he will be very focused in this match. He has

:08:19. > :08:26.played in a while. He has not had much match practice. Darren Burnett

:08:27. > :08:31.is match fit, if that is the term to use. Greg won't be rusty, he has had

:08:32. > :08:39.a lot of practice. This could be a classic. Both players are good, both

:08:40. > :08:48.players playing well. Now of course Greg coming off great success a few

:08:49. > :08:55.months ago. Yes, success in the Scottish Open.

:08:56. > :09:04.Now we see the mat up the green. One of the few players to take the jack

:09:05. > :09:07.up the opening end. I'm sure if he had won the toss, he would have

:09:08. > :09:15.played it. Later your favourite length. -- play to your favourite

:09:16. > :09:22.length. Very much up for this game, Greg. He feels this could be a good

:09:23. > :09:30.year for him, but he has been a little unlucky in some ways because

:09:31. > :09:38.Darren has had a very good run. Yes, he is basically playing the man in

:09:39. > :09:40.form. That is the bottom line. But Greg with reasonable success against

:09:41. > :10:06.Darren recently, I believe. I'm not sure if that has just made

:10:07. > :10:20.the difference. We've seen throughout the week how

:10:21. > :10:24.good Darren is at the running balls, but I do think if we will see one

:10:25. > :10:25.here. A little bit too dangerous, he doesn't want to take his own all

:10:26. > :10:47.out. Sticking to the draw. Close here. Just run through. It was

:10:48. > :10:55.a good effort, but there is also security... Greg might have been

:10:56. > :11:07.tempted. It will be a conservative draw, I would imagine.

:11:08. > :11:16.Greg going deep. He has been very conservative by going round the

:11:17. > :11:23.back. He must think Darren will have a pop now. Three balls will go at

:11:24. > :11:27.that angle. Well, this is such a wide head, there is no way Darren

:11:28. > :11:31.would miss hitting this, but it is the reaction he gets with the

:11:32. > :11:35.follow-through. What he's looking at is possible it is getting that and

:11:36. > :11:39.it will go on to the other green ball and that will disappear. The

:11:40. > :11:46.red ball on the jack would also take it out, so that is valuable. Playing

:11:47. > :11:54.a running ball. That will go very quick. Unless he is lucky to get his

:11:55. > :12:01.own ball in. I thought he'd been very lucky, but he hasn't. Very

:12:02. > :12:27.unlucky by the looks of it. Given an extra shot away.

:12:28. > :12:52.Once again, the mat well up for Greg. That is the best way to

:12:53. > :12:59.guarantee a short jack length. A bit of a game plan here. Yes, Greg has a

:13:00. > :13:02.tendency to bring the mat up the green. Not sure it will be a

:13:03. > :13:09.surprise to Darren. I know in previous games he's actually played

:13:10. > :13:10.Darren's favourite long length. A good tactician, Greg. He knows what

:13:11. > :13:43.he's doing here. Greg works here at Potters resort,

:13:44. > :13:50.so he will have a lot of home support.

:13:51. > :14:02.A clear run wins it. Short all. That is one thing Darren is a very good

:14:03. > :14:10.at, he has that confidence with the short balls. Greg is never

:14:11. > :14:26.frightened to play round, but this looks like a draw.

:14:27. > :14:34.The jack is just going to go to red. A very good second ball. Always

:14:35. > :14:41.looked slightly under, but he has set up a good target. A very slight

:14:42. > :14:53.gap, hardly anything. It is four inches.

:14:54. > :15:03.Darren needs another ball in here. This is very inviting for Greg on

:15:04. > :15:11.the forehand side. A great ball from Darren Burnett, absolutely perfect.

:15:12. > :15:22.Could not have placed that any better, third delivery, front

:15:23. > :15:28.toucher. There is a shot on if he hits the front red, it might squeeze

:15:29. > :15:34.out onto the re-spot position. But it will be very hard. He has to play

:15:35. > :15:39.it with a lot of weight. I just can't see how he will get the shot

:15:40. > :15:46.with the backhand. He's only playing that he does not have any back

:15:47. > :15:52.position. It was all is going to be wrecked. That was a difficult one,

:15:53. > :15:56.it really was. What he might have tried is to play the runner on the

:15:57. > :16:04.forehand, to take one out to stop yes. Playing the backhand he almost

:16:05. > :16:09.accepted losing the double. Darren has to be a little bit careful here.

:16:10. > :16:20.He's going with the backhand as well. This will be hard again, very

:16:21. > :16:27.difficult to add another but safe. Yes, this is not counting.

:16:28. > :16:39.Difficult spare. Yes it was, and after a backhand toucher. You are

:16:40. > :16:44.allowed a few bad ones, Darren. That was a good opening couple of ends.

:16:45. > :16:57.Yes, good stuff. It big German Shepherd. Isn't that

:16:58. > :17:05.wonderful? They are so well behaved, they really are.

:17:06. > :17:12.We have had our canine friends in over the last week or two. Some

:17:13. > :17:17.partially sighted folks with their blind dogs. They do a fantastic job,

:17:18. > :17:26.they really do. They are always welcome here, which is good to see.

:17:27. > :17:37.Man's best friend. Certainly is. As you say, all welcome here. Leave the

:17:38. > :17:44.cat at home, they are only friends when you feed it. They can hear my

:17:45. > :17:54.car from 100 yards away. Before it gets into the driveway! The third

:17:55. > :18:05.ball -- furball jumps up at the window ready to greet me when I get

:18:06. > :18:20.home. Sheila is her treats. -- she'd love treats.

:18:21. > :18:30.I just have a feeling that Greg is very determined in this match. He

:18:31. > :18:35.knows he is playing well this season, obviously after Scotland in

:18:36. > :18:43.particular. But he just needs to play his way into it. Yes, playing

:18:44. > :18:48.with confidence, but both players leading on the backhand in this

:18:49. > :18:57.direction. That has been rare this week.

:18:58. > :19:12.That was a better shot, a safer one. The spray chalk, a lovely

:19:13. > :19:17.development that has been over the last few years. Especially with

:19:18. > :19:26.balls at an angle. Greg wasting no time looking for the two balls. He

:19:27. > :19:33.is under with this one. Yes, but he has the back position. Again,

:19:34. > :19:37.choices here. Does Darren cover the back or put another one in on the

:19:38. > :19:43.forehand to come around the green ball and hide it away? Choice,

:19:44. > :19:50.really... Don't know how far that ball is off the jack. I think he

:19:51. > :19:53.will go deep. Doesn't want to give Greg the chance of picking up a

:19:54. > :20:06.couple here. Probably a forehand deep ball.

:20:07. > :20:13.That is forehand, but is it deep? He is going for the second option I was

:20:14. > :20:19.talking about, to try and get behind the zone. Left it short. I think

:20:20. > :20:23.what he was worried about is if Greg took two balls out,

:20:24. > :20:27.what he was worried about is if Greg three. But if it goes deep, just

:20:28. > :20:31.lose one. He had a better angle than we did in the commentary box. I

:20:32. > :20:37.think Greg will certainly be attacking. He has gone for the two

:20:38. > :20:42.walls. The angle is good. He could take his own out here. Got it

:20:43. > :20:46.perfect, absolutely perfect. There is one lurking back their

:20:47. > :20:46.perfect, absolutely perfect. There it looked like it was

:20:47. > :20:51.perfect, absolutely perfect. There on, just dropped in, but you can see

:20:52. > :21:00.the green ball at the bottom of the picture and that is what Darren

:21:01. > :21:08.relied on. Greg... A good strike from Greg. Good tactics, as well.

:21:09. > :21:14.Yes. That's why I thought Darren might have gone deeper.

:21:15. > :21:21.And so many of these occasions you have one, two, maybe even three

:21:22. > :21:25.options. It is about picking the have one, two, maybe even three

:21:26. > :21:30.right one. That's have one, two, maybe even three

:21:31. > :21:34.about, percentages. Knowing what shot gives you the best options.

:21:35. > :21:41.They are both attacking players, so both will be aware of that, that

:21:42. > :21:48.they need position balls. Not just singles, it is in every aspect, that

:21:49. > :21:52.you have to be very serious about maximising your percentage shots.

:21:53. > :21:57.you have to be very serious about is a skill in itself. Just playing

:21:58. > :22:02.for 30 years isn't enough. You have to learn about those things and

:22:03. > :22:07.apply them, especially in pressure situations. Exactly. It's all about

:22:08. > :22:32.knowing when to play the big shot, when to defend, when to attack.

:22:33. > :22:37.Another thing that has been quite interesting in this championship is

:22:38. > :22:45.how many of the top players, not even the top layers, the qualifiers

:22:46. > :22:49.coming through our changing their balls. Sometimes between matches,

:22:50. > :22:53.just to suit the time of the match or the condition of the rink.

:22:54. > :23:04.Players become quite knowledgeable about the carpet and you need to

:23:05. > :23:09.draw round balls because of the way the properties playing. We have seen

:23:10. > :23:16.it before when the rink has been absolutely screaming. Greg going

:23:17. > :23:21.early, looking for the jack. Close. He's got it and going all the way to

:23:22. > :23:29.the ditch with it. A good indication of where Greg is at the moment, more

:23:30. > :23:34.than prepared to be aggressive. Yes. Neither player here will let things

:23:35. > :23:45.lie. Sometimes you arrive at this rink and the conditions have played

:23:46. > :23:48.17 or 18 seconds. In the past I have practised anticipating this to be

:23:49. > :23:52.very fast, but now we are getting used to coming here and the Greens

:23:53. > :23:56.are a bit slower. However, it is still playing well. But you are

:23:57. > :24:05.right, the speed of the green is not what it was in the past.

:24:06. > :24:17.A chance for Greg to put a good second ball in. Playing that short

:24:18. > :24:23.jack length, so he can play those running balls. It is a good second.

:24:24. > :24:28.I don't think Darren will even be thinking about the number one shot.

:24:29. > :24:36.That is just too close in the ditch. David Gourlay, I don't think that

:24:37. > :24:39.music at all. I think he is checking his share options. I really do.

:24:40. > :24:46.LAUGHTER Just under three feet. Certainly has

:24:47. > :24:53.them in his is quite a bit. Waiting to see if the markets are down in

:24:54. > :24:57.Japan, or something. Now, Darren, can you just drop in

:24:58. > :25:03.the second question might need to clear all the stuff to do that. No.

:25:04. > :25:22.His width wasn't too bad but he hit that ball a good meter. Greg Harlow

:25:23. > :25:29.will continue with this mat up. Two ends in a row. I don't know if you

:25:30. > :25:41.remember, but Greg Harlow did this a few years ago, in Wales. Against

:25:42. > :25:45.Paul Foster. Every time he got close, Greg was attacking and

:25:46. > :25:50.attacking, even with the first ball on occasions. He ran away a good

:25:51. > :25:56.winner on that occasion, but Paul was drawing close balls. Greg was

:25:57. > :26:00.very aggressive, great tactics. Absolutely brilliant tactics. Yes,

:26:01. > :26:07.it is a good skill to have, if your opponent is putting those balls in,

:26:08. > :26:11.as Paul Foster did on that day. Greg was just aggressive and had to

:26:12. > :26:13.change their tactics to play round balls all the time and was striking

:26:14. > :27:05.all the time. This will be an interesting

:27:06. > :27:15.challenge for Darren Burnett. Looks under with this one. I don't think

:27:16. > :27:20.this one will hold up. Because he will have... More than worked out.

:27:21. > :27:27.We worked out from the first end that this is what Greg would do.

:27:28. > :27:32.Just a draw. He can draw things off and there is no problem with that,

:27:33. > :27:40.he is very good at it. Another one going in round the back. He is

:27:41. > :27:42.making sure. Yes, just wants to put Darren off a little bit on the draw

:27:43. > :28:10.so he can get his draw game in. Well... That's blocked a draw line,

:28:11. > :28:16.possibly. A long way from where he wanted to be. Certainly is. A bit of

:28:17. > :28:24.a concern, will Greg take a risk on this one? It is not great for him.

:28:25. > :28:28.Going for the forehand. Can't blame him on that, just didn't look very

:28:29. > :28:33.appetising. No, it didn't. Think he's just trying to find a gap here.

:28:34. > :28:37.If he find a gap he will be close to the jack for two. Good try. Anything

:28:38. > :28:52.past and he was good. Greg's final ball here, try to find

:28:53. > :28:54.the gap. Find the gap, just needs six inches more of weight. A good

:28:55. > :29:15.attempt. Darren just needs to reach with this

:29:16. > :29:22.ball. Think he is lacking pace. Think he will be happy to get away

:29:23. > :29:31.with one. Three short balls there. Whoever plays this chap will end up

:29:32. > :29:39.with a 29.5 metre jack. With the mat up. Yes, I think I could do the

:29:40. > :29:47.graphic now. Darren has put the mat down, right on the T. Where is the

:29:48. > :29:53.jack going question mark I don't know, he is letting me down here.

:29:54. > :29:56.29, he has let you down by half a metre. He is always letting me down.

:29:57. > :30:10.29. We are back to second round of the

:30:11. > :30:19.world singles, which goes back to nine ends in the first set. Finals

:30:20. > :30:26.are 11, but nine ends seems very short after 11. Yes, before you know

:30:27. > :30:35.it it is coming to the crucial end of the set. Good balls so far. Both

:30:36. > :30:38.players just dropping a little bit short here. Understandable. A little

:30:39. > :31:02.adjustment next. This has still got a lot of running

:31:03. > :31:07.to do. There is a correction, only by a foot, when he really needed

:31:08. > :31:14.three. Lots of room for Greg if he comes around it. A look on the way

:31:15. > :31:28.to Greg on the mat, it has forced to the forehand side. Comfortable play

:31:29. > :31:31.in the side, this is a good draw. Yes, and it is remarkable and a lot

:31:32. > :31:34.of players will be playing the backhand and when they moved to the

:31:35. > :31:46.forehand they will be playing good bowls. Here is Greg's second ball,

:31:47. > :31:59.changes and draws the ball. Again, we see him doing well.

:32:00. > :32:27.read bowl, to make the double. That one, to drop onto

:32:28. > :32:39.read bowl, to make the double. That is nice. It is very, very good. That

:32:40. > :32:52.is excellent, Greg Harlow is playing well. A final delivery, rests his

:32:53. > :32:59.own bowl, gets a touch. I think that Darren is asking, if he has two

:33:00. > :33:05.Saabs? Yes he does, he might be tempted to squeeze this one in. This

:33:06. > :33:12.one is not easy, he's playing the run-up. The hard shot, he pushes

:33:13. > :33:15.this one out wide. Close. It just looked a little bit wide, not much,

:33:16. > :33:20.connection with looked a little bit wide, not much,

:33:21. > :33:27.been perfect but this will be a good opportunity for Greg. Three here.

:33:28. > :33:34.Giving himself a gap going into the last three ends, fully expecting him

:33:35. > :33:39.to make this. Darren Burnett's favourite length, he didn't really

:33:40. > :33:45.get two close polls in, and a big chance, for a good opening. To the

:33:46. > :33:56.set. We expect this to be number three. Well played, he is not going

:33:57. > :34:01.to make that mistake of cropping short. The perfect bowl. It has got

:34:02. > :34:09.that short. The perfect bowl. It has got

:34:10. > :34:16.shots. Number seven I think coming up, and really, Burnett needs to

:34:17. > :34:22.score here, if he loses this end, the set is over. It is a nice little

:34:23. > :34:33.cushion for Greg at the moment. Sticking to his tactic. Matt on the

:34:34. > :34:37.green, Jack on the tee. Darren is not quite as accurate as he has been

:34:38. > :35:11.in the previous games. Plenty of time, though.

:35:12. > :35:40.Greg, very much aware of the position that he is in, keeping

:35:41. > :35:44.things nice and close. Cropping another one in. That is good, he

:35:45. > :35:50.will be very happy with that, he just wants to be close to the Jack

:35:51. > :35:57.and stop Darren from scoring a multiple. Darren pushing this bowl

:35:58. > :36:06.up, in fact he has turned his back already. Well this is where he has

:36:07. > :36:15.given Greg Harlow two opportunities now and you just cannot do that.

:36:16. > :36:23.Radio sticking to the draw. Tempting on the forehand. Happier that he

:36:24. > :36:29.could for the shot here. I fully expect him to. That is perfect. You

:36:30. > :36:38.just cannot do that, too many opportunities. Darren will be

:36:39. > :36:42.arriving into this I am sure, just making sure that he has got the

:36:43. > :36:52.weight to turn the Jack around the corner. A bit of work to do on the

:36:53. > :37:05.bend. Not bad. He might as well play kit. That is tremendous. Stuart

:37:06. > :37:14.Anderson is watching on. I cannot imagine him in any other country,

:37:15. > :37:19.can you? From a club in Ayrshire. He is cheering his Scottish colleague,

:37:20. > :37:23.we see great looking at this head, there is a good chance on the

:37:24. > :37:30.forehand reaching through, good back position. That problem is with the

:37:31. > :37:34.weight that he has to use, that joke is going to go whizzing past the

:37:35. > :37:45.green ball unless he locks on it. If he goes past, the touch will

:37:46. > :37:50.probably with it. He could lose two. Whereas, it is going to be very,

:37:51. > :37:55.very hard for Darren to score more than one. Inan ideal world you would

:37:56. > :38:03.be playing this with just four feet of weight. He is aware that you

:38:04. > :38:12.can't. He has played the backhand. Can't see him getting his shot here.

:38:13. > :38:16.I can understand why he is doing it. He is trying to keep this type. I

:38:17. > :38:24.tell you what, he is having a good go at it. Well, it has dropped away

:38:25. > :38:30.and I wonder, his own bowl stayed up enough. It would be a tremendous

:38:31. > :38:36.result, getting a single out of this. Greg's final delivery to me

:38:37. > :38:40.would always go out, it would move back out with the bowls. Moving back

:38:41. > :38:53.in and so we are not sure actually whose line. Time out called. The

:38:54. > :39:04.backhand was just a backhand for here for Dan. --

:39:05. > :39:17.draw here for Dan. Near the Jack would be worth a couple. Very close,

:39:18. > :39:27.Greg will have a good look as to whose shot. I have a feeling, that

:39:28. > :39:32.is just, very close, I couldn't walk away from that. The green ball is

:39:33. > :39:37.probably touching the closest one, they will take those two out but the

:39:38. > :39:43.other one might need a little bit of propping up. He is asking for the

:39:44. > :39:56.measure on that one. I'm surprised, I don't think the second bowl is

:39:57. > :40:06.anything. There is K, Greg's Y. -- wife. Dan Wilson walked out this

:40:07. > :40:18.measure. The umpire for this match, firmly established now, very calm,

:40:19. > :40:26.he is an excellent umpire. As all of the umpires are, doing a great job

:40:27. > :40:34.here. That is what we thought as well, that is important for Darren,

:40:35. > :40:42.a bit of a chance. Still it is an uphill challenge to score four shots

:40:43. > :40:47.in the next two ends. Greg's running bowls, really a benefit, it has

:40:48. > :40:51.drawn well, a good value for its. Greg deserves the lead, four up, he

:40:52. > :41:01.has been the steadier of the two players. He's back on the full

:41:02. > :41:13.length now, 29.5, he has added the half meter. Darren Burnett, with

:41:14. > :41:17.some companies he was 10-1 yesterday to win the championship after

:41:18. > :41:26.winning two titles, that is pretty good going. Yes, good odds. We are

:41:27. > :41:39.also aware, that he had a hard, hard raw. The winner of this, faces the

:41:40. > :41:45.prospect of difficult opponents. That is why I think the bottom

:41:46. > :41:51.section of this draw is tough. Yes, he is a very good competitor, and

:41:52. > :41:59.Nicky, is the world number one. So it is a difficult little section,

:42:00. > :42:02.this. It is interesting when you are asked the question, I look at the

:42:03. > :42:08.draw and say that you can't be serious to pick a winner out of the

:42:09. > :42:11.last four. Exactly, I knew when they had all one that it would be

:42:12. > :42:17.difficult to see who would come through it, probably Darren's odds,

:42:18. > :42:24.are a reflection of that. The toughness of having to beat Greg and

:42:25. > :42:32.then Nicky and layers. That is unusual for Darren to be short two

:42:33. > :42:37.goals on his own Jack. The problems for Darren, not getting close enough

:42:38. > :42:42.with the opening two roles, especially in his opening leg dash

:42:43. > :43:15.dash two bowls. Well still available for the draw

:43:16. > :43:25.around the short bowls, but he needs to just shave his own. Here it

:43:26. > :43:37.comes. It needs to stop. Then he scores. Yes. Indeed. Still favourite

:43:38. > :43:38.to draw it? No change for Greg, he took a yard off his previous

:43:39. > :44:00.delivery. There is something wrong with this

:44:01. > :44:07.one? It is just under the line I think. If he had made it inside that

:44:08. > :44:17.he had his own bowl to tap down. Darren is shaking his head because

:44:18. > :44:26.needs at least a double here to have a chance. It looks like the draw and

:44:27. > :44:31.eat, there is no reason why Darren should not be looking at the draw in

:44:32. > :44:37.the forehand. He can take a wide line. There is no reason why he

:44:38. > :44:46.can't come in on a high line and try and drop that way, to hide behind

:44:47. > :44:51.the red bowl. The way that his foot was positioned, he was trying to

:44:52. > :44:59.remove the two green bowls. Two in the last two ends is not bad. I just

:45:00. > :45:04.think he's not happy to try and draw another one beforehand. Otherwise

:45:05. > :45:09.you can try and punch his own green bowl for three. Slightly better, you

:45:10. > :45:14.might just push your own in. At bowl for three. Slightly better, you

:45:15. > :45:20.least you have got a percentage opportunity there. I agree.

:45:21. > :45:23.least you have got a percentage playing the draw. He is playing the

:45:24. > :45:23.least you have got a percentage draw, when you handle

:45:24. > :45:34.least you have got a percentage he has two push at this. He is not

:45:35. > :45:40.here. Greg has got a shot for the set, he was not far away, with the

:45:41. > :45:47.last one. He will make sure that he doesn't give another one here. If

:45:48. > :45:52.you have got good weight on the outside line, you have got a great

:45:53. > :45:59.chance coming in. Here it comes, missing the red one, here comes the

:46:00. > :47:15.shot. That was the percentage for him. Contact. First set gone.

:47:16. > :47:20.Well the hat-trick of titles is starting to look a little bit less

:47:21. > :47:26.possible now, it is not just losing the set, it is the manner in which

:47:27. > :47:31.he lost it. Yes I agree. He has played quite well, coming back in

:47:32. > :47:46.the commentary box, he has just actually not got close enough bowls.

:47:47. > :47:58.Greg has certainly got better. Good again. Asking questions here all of

:47:59. > :48:05.the time. Yes, when Darren is getting them in, he is bringing out

:48:06. > :48:11.the big gun, and it is working. At the moment, he's making this look

:48:12. > :48:22.very, very good and somewhat easy, it is not easy against Darren

:48:23. > :48:38.Burnett, it never is. Good try. Great try. Yes, he is opening it up.

:48:39. > :48:43.And you might have noticed, the red bowl was up, but for marking the

:48:44. > :48:46.touch. Normally you would do it right away, Darren is so quick that

:48:47. > :48:51.you would disturb his delivery if you went in at some time. Picking it

:48:52. > :48:57.up afterwards, just in case somebody is reading the rule book. The

:48:58. > :49:03.contact is about that, you don't need to. Thank you very much. You

:49:04. > :49:12.have answered the question before. Quite right. It is a chance here for

:49:13. > :49:17.Darren, quite a good hit. It is still going to take a very good bowl

:49:18. > :49:21.to get there. This looks under. He has got chances if he runs. He

:49:22. > :49:25.doesn't really wants to hit the green ball in, that would have

:49:26. > :49:33.locked in behind the jack, but where it is. -- better rarities. Great

:49:34. > :50:09.needs another bowl here. Again, that green bowl has been

:50:10. > :50:15.rocked. Still therefore Darren, it is just a gentle shot. The bowl out

:50:16. > :50:21.would be a perfect result but that would be very difficult. It would be

:50:22. > :50:27.very difficult, Darren's best chance would be to trail the jack, ending

:50:28. > :50:40.up with a double. Again, a difficult shot. Extra weight on it. Always on

:50:41. > :50:48.the high side. Once you have got the extra weight, it will not work. And

:50:49. > :50:54.Greg wasting no time, one shot and moving on. He is a man in a hurry

:50:55. > :51:00.here. Yes, he feels he is in charge of the game, and I guess he feels

:51:01. > :51:01.that he's dominating most ends. He has not really had an opportunity

:51:02. > :51:33.score big. Back to a traditional short one.

:51:34. > :51:40.Matt up the green. We still call it green of course, up the rink, it is

:51:41. > :51:46.indoors, on the carpet. Too many years, from calling it the green and

:51:47. > :52:11.then changing to the blue carpet. It is just a term that we use.

:52:12. > :52:19.Short jack, that is interesting. Greg Harlow, full-length, he is

:52:20. > :52:29.winning all of the ends. Yes, I think that, it throws the pattern at

:52:30. > :52:34.a little bit. Yes, when Greg, goes for it, I'm not surprised at it for

:52:35. > :52:43.that. All of those statisticians are all over this, they really are. We

:52:44. > :52:49.have hundreds of people employed, to give us the correct figures here.

:52:50. > :52:58.They are like little gremlins in the dark, working away like crazy.

:52:59. > :53:10.Giving us all of this data. Good to have Andy, saving burning the

:53:11. > :53:17.midnight oil. Don't worry Russell, we will make sure that you get a

:53:18. > :53:32.chicken nuggets tonight. Are you running? Good bowl. That is the

:53:33. > :53:38.thing, it is very solid play, at times it has been spectacular. Break

:53:39. > :53:44.is doing the simple things right. Yes, just simple things, really not

:53:45. > :54:00.giving Darren opportunities here. Have you got the weight to carry it

:54:01. > :54:06.Darren? Just under the weight and all of a sudden, he's deep in

:54:07. > :54:14.trouble again, and he will move onto the back now. Having a look at this,

:54:15. > :54:19.we have got a perfect view of this. There is a good plant, that is why

:54:20. > :54:32.he will play the backhand. He will probably have a look at it, plenty

:54:33. > :54:40.of time-outs. He should do. That hasn't changed. It has made it a bit

:54:41. > :54:47.more solid. It is wider David, there is a good chance here for Darren

:54:48. > :54:51.now. What you are looking at now, is that bowl, the only thing is that I

:54:52. > :54:56.reckon that the green bowl might just lock on this, that is the only

:54:57. > :55:01.thing that might happen. If not it will go through and it will

:55:02. > :55:05.disappear. At the angles looked like it might just come off the green

:55:06. > :55:13.one. He has got a good chance here, the chance for a good result. He was

:55:14. > :55:19.unlucky with the follow-through. Yes, but it did lock in the ball.

:55:20. > :55:28.You are right. It looked like it might lock, he might come out with

:55:29. > :55:36.one. Greg has got the mat in his hand. He is pushing through on the

:55:37. > :55:43.pace as well, he is dictating the speed of the game. Yes he is. It was

:55:44. > :55:51.a good hit but the angle just looked like the ball was going to hang

:55:52. > :55:52.about. You called it correctly, you got the two bowls but unfortunately

:55:53. > :56:16.one of them stayed in. Well on the first shot clock that

:56:17. > :56:20.they brought in two or three years ago, Greg struggled with it for the

:56:21. > :56:28.first year but then he adapted his game. He is one of the best at

:56:29. > :56:33.working the shot clock now. Yes he does, we will often follow his

:56:34. > :56:38.second bowl up. He is back with his third old. He has but thought into

:56:39. > :56:45.it as others have done. Most players have adapted to it. It was not

:56:46. > :56:47.it as others have done. Most players popular position when it first came

:56:48. > :56:51.out but like everything we have got to adapt and change. It certainly

:56:52. > :56:57.doesn't help me at times either, because you have got to be very

:56:58. > :57:08.quick, to put in the graphics. But yes, it is there. We have a few slow

:57:09. > :57:17.players in our sport. Changes, there is nothing wrong with that. Greg,

:57:18. > :57:26.those were the two worst opening bowls of the game really. This is

:57:27. > :57:29.close, here it comes. I thought that was better. I really thought that

:57:30. > :57:35.was better, the was better. I really thought that

:57:36. > :57:39.have talked about the carpet, great have talked about the carpet, great

:57:40. > :57:44.is coming up. He's just trying have talked about the carpet, great

:57:45. > :57:48.calm himself down. I think he is, he has got plenty of time-outs. I would

:57:49. > :57:50.say keep you went and asked Greg, did you think you were close, they

:57:51. > :57:55.would say yes. I did you think you were close, they

:57:56. > :58:00.to see comedy prefers the did you think you were close, they

:58:01. > :58:02.and drawing another. He can't did you think you were close, they

:58:03. > :58:11.possibly be thinking of any thing else surely. Two read, they are at

:58:12. > :58:14.least one metre short. Once he gets past his own bowl, it is almost

:58:15. > :58:20.guaranteed. The past his own bowl, it is almost

:58:21. > :58:33.same, if he gets past the red ones. I can't imagine he is going to go

:58:34. > :58:40.for anything else? Just the draw. Yes, this looks good. He made the

:58:41. > :58:47.correction. And that is a very good lesson for anyone watching, you take

:58:48. > :58:51.your time, when you have a look. Quite right, perfect bowl, changed

:58:52. > :59:02.to the forehand, draws the perfect shot. You can do that after the

:59:03. > :59:08.second bowl, but generally, Darren will go for this. He certainly will.

:59:09. > :59:18.The plant is good if he gets the plant as well. He did not go beside

:59:19. > :59:30.its so it is beatable. Good site from Darren. His turn to be

:59:31. > :59:34.aggressive. There were five feet or six feet to draw the shot. To get

:59:35. > :59:49.within a couple of feet of the ditch.

:59:50. > :00:05.Good enough? It should be. One green, very quick call. It gives

:00:06. > :00:07.Darren a good look to get past it. A good three feet here. You expect

:00:08. > :00:19.Darren to draw the winner here. Certainly wide enough on the line,

:00:20. > :00:25.it is all about the weight. Doesn't have the weight to get past the

:00:26. > :00:32.green one? That's not good that's not like him, at all.

:00:33. > :00:46.Greg would have been accepting he would lose a single there. He had at

:00:47. > :00:57.least three feet to draw the short fall -- the shot. Darren well below

:00:58. > :01:07.the performance he has been showing in the singles on the pairs. There

:01:08. > :01:30.is still time, six club ends to go. He has to force the tie-break.

:01:31. > :01:42.Six inches short. Probably still be worth playing it, if it was afoot,

:01:43. > :01:52.it probably wouldn't been. This is on the edge. There it goes. Goodbye.

:01:53. > :01:58.Three, four feet tight, he just missed the line by a few inches.

:01:59. > :02:00.Greg has his tactics worked out perfectly here. He really is

:02:01. > :02:18.dominating this game. Putting close balls in every end.

:02:19. > :02:27.That's the thing, you normally don't go in with a game plan, but on this

:02:28. > :02:32.occasion it looks very like Greg to bring the mat up on the first end

:02:33. > :02:42.and he hasn't wavered from that tactic. May have got second with

:02:43. > :03:00.that. The last ball is ten inches short of jack high.

:03:01. > :03:11.This looks good from Greg. Touches the jack, perfect. He is doing

:03:12. > :03:15.everything right when he needs to, drawing good solid balls, playing

:03:16. > :03:24.the weight shots. He is all over this match. Yes, totally dominant.

:03:25. > :03:28.Once again Darren is three down. An awkward head and nothing sitting for

:03:29. > :03:35.him. A hard draw, so he might try and come into it.

:03:36. > :03:47.This is a tough one. This is a hard weight. Darren, Darren, this is not

:03:48. > :03:53.like you. He knows how hard that is. I just wonder if Greg will go on the

:03:54. > :03:59.forehand to cover those balls. He certainly will, I don't think Greg

:04:00. > :04:06.will go near the head now. 3-0 up. That is good enough. And shake of

:04:07. > :04:19.the head from Darren. Certainly angled to go wide. That is the cover

:04:20. > :04:22.ball coming in, trying to split the Reds. Might be able to get to the

:04:23. > :04:28.re-spot at the same time. Yes, that's good. He will be very happy

:04:29. > :04:33.with that. Maybe another foot or so. I would agree. This is a chance for

:04:34. > :04:40.Darren to pick two or three up here if he catches everything good. That

:04:41. > :04:44.ball just dropped down. In some respects, that might just help him.

:04:45. > :04:51.It might give him the angle to come on the two balls out and run onto

:04:52. > :04:58.the green. He has to play a more positive weight. This is a better

:04:59. > :05:01.weight. More chances here. Yes, I thought he might get the split and

:05:02. > :05:13.then it would bring him through to the green ball but the green stayed

:05:14. > :05:20.in. Hit the target. Not far away. Still, four singles, still got time

:05:21. > :05:25.to pull those back. He's not losing in multiples. You just think Darren

:05:26. > :05:39.can move up a gear or two. Yes. A man who has basically dominated

:05:40. > :05:45.the game right from the start applying a bit of bowls and asking

:05:46. > :06:59.all the questions of Darren. -- and playing a bit of bowls.

:07:00. > :07:07.That is a better shot. One of the rare occasions when Darren has had

:07:08. > :07:17.an opportunity to draw in for a double. And he turns the jack back

:07:18. > :07:29.to the one. Dear me. Greg is still there for the draw, though. Darren

:07:30. > :07:33.just has to find his form at a couple of ends to get back into this

:07:34. > :07:45.set. He was playing brilliant polls this week. -- bowls. Just asking for

:07:46. > :07:55.guys to move away from the corner marker, so he can take his line from

:07:56. > :08:03.it. Now you are giving it a chance, Darren. Dropping a bit short here.

:08:04. > :08:12.Yes, a bit short here. Drawing for two, but trying to turn the jack as

:08:13. > :08:26.well, very unlike Darren. It is like sport, full of confidence coming

:08:27. > :08:30.into the game, playing great bowls. He will be mystified as to what is

:08:31. > :08:40.happening as well. He just needs one good end.

:08:41. > :08:47.I am sure in the pairs or the mixed pairs Darren Burnett

:08:48. > :08:50.I am sure in the pairs or the mixed draw another shot. He would, and

:08:51. > :08:57.turned the jack at the same time for three. He was playing that well. But

:08:58. > :09:04.more of a struggle, for some reason. Maybe the rink has changed a little

:09:05. > :09:08.bit, I don't know. He has been putting the time in, so he knows

:09:09. > :09:15.what to expect. This is better. The jack moving the three. That is what

:09:16. > :09:21.he was doing earlier in the week and he has just done it again. It should

:09:22. > :09:53.be a bit of a lift for him. That's more like Darren.

:09:54. > :11:20.Well, this is more like Darren. Maybe that last end gave him some

:11:21. > :11:26.confidence. It is like somebody slipped a switch. -- flipped a

:11:27. > :11:40.switch. Greg is having a look at this one.

:11:41. > :11:50.He's got it. Perfect, absolutely perfect. Once you hit the ball first

:11:51. > :11:57.you want to drop in. He's just moved it across the front one. You see

:11:58. > :12:02.Greg was very good sir. See this ball coming in, here it comes. Just

:12:03. > :12:11.wanted to miss the jack. He followed the ball up, looked at the jack, so

:12:12. > :12:15.he hasn't used any extra time. In fact, he could have stayed at the

:12:16. > :12:20.head but decided to go back with Darren. It hasn't worked out, no

:12:21. > :12:25.doubt about that. It is clever stuff, it is good. Darren knew he

:12:26. > :12:34.could not go near the head, so staying away from it.

:12:35. > :12:42.Greg Mead is a perfect draw here, move the jack an inch.

:12:43. > :12:56.Needs to hold up. Good effort. That has made it harder for Greg. It has

:12:57. > :13:01.indeed, although Greg has got a good back bowl, so any contact with

:13:02. > :13:08.that... Actually he doesn't, Darren has a good back bowl. Any touch on

:13:09. > :13:14.it will offer Darren and opportunity. Just brought this. I

:13:15. > :13:21.think Darren should still keep away from this. Can't go near it, cannot

:13:22. > :13:26.afford to give the shot way. Darren has two time-outs remaining. If

:13:27. > :13:32.Darren does push it to the back bowl to the edge to try make a double out

:13:33. > :13:40.of it, it's just not worth it. He will bring it out into the open and

:13:41. > :13:47.Greg will nail it. Can't play this positive, surely. Just leave it and

:13:48. > :13:50.force Greg to play the draw. Anything a foot or two behind will

:13:51. > :14:09.be good, because he already has the deep position.

:14:10. > :14:19.Well... I am not sure Andy, he is going very close. Yes, there it

:14:20. > :14:26.goes. Just wanted to be between his own back one and the green. Greg

:14:27. > :14:27.will try and draw this off, get a little touch on it to spring the

:14:28. > :14:40.jack six inches. I tell you what, he has given this

:14:41. > :14:49.ago. He doesn't want to push this to much. He's got it, just wanted to

:14:50. > :14:54.move it a foot. It was enough and might make a double out of this.

:14:55. > :15:04.Think it was only one, but a great bowl. Darren knew he couldn't

:15:05. > :15:07.protect that. Greg's last ball, moving the jack to his own ball.

:15:08. > :15:50.Super bowl. Those shots are so important, the

:15:51. > :15:58.turnaround shots. Now instead of level he has the cushion. He does

:15:59. > :16:03.have the cushion. More importantly to him -- for him, back to his

:16:04. > :16:13.favourite jack length. I think he has actually increased it by a

:16:14. > :16:21.quarter of a meter. Not brought the mat up quite so far up the green. I

:16:22. > :16:29.agree with you. Probably about two metres shorter on the mat. So, a

:16:30. > :16:35.slight adjustment. A couple of times in the last couple of ends. A good

:16:36. > :17:03.tactic, just moved it slightly back. Will you run at this, Darren, or

:17:04. > :17:13.keep the draw? The gap is eight inches. Four inches. He is

:17:14. > :17:19.undecided. That is because the gap is a little more than he would

:17:20. > :17:27.ideally like. He is going for it. He won't be far away. That was the

:17:28. > :17:31.problem, that is why he was undecided, because of the gaps

:17:32. > :17:35.involved. If that ball was an inch or two inches closer, it would have

:17:36. > :17:41.made all the difference in the world to that shot. It would have planted

:17:42. > :17:50.Greg's ball out. Now he is in a bit of trouble. If he loses this end, it

:17:51. > :17:55.will be a really tough job to win the set. This really doesn't get any

:17:56. > :18:03.better for Greg. Interesting to see where Greg's ball finishes. I think

:18:04. > :18:09.he was trying to play middle rink. I think he was trying to get the

:18:10. > :18:12.blocker in. Darren has no balls on the green, but it wouldn't surprise

:18:13. > :18:19.me here to see Darren attacking this. I think he will go again. He

:18:20. > :18:24.knows he can't afford to lose the shot.

:18:25. > :18:33.Quite a wide target. He is under. Well, that is a lot better for him.

:18:34. > :18:40.It Well, that is a lot better for him.

:18:41. > :18:50.his last ball. Toucher Well, that is a lot better for him.

:18:51. > :18:55.too much. The question now is do you play the narrow side or play across

:18:56. > :19:02.it? I think he will be trying to get as close as he can. This will be a

:19:03. > :19:10.one all shoot out, really. Certainly high. The advantage Greg has is

:19:11. > :19:14.there is no way Darren will drive this, he has to draw. It is just

:19:15. > :19:19.picking out which side he wishes to do it. With a forehand you are or is

:19:20. > :19:23.coming into the jack, with a backhand you up ringing the jack

:19:24. > :19:25.towards the green ball. Make your mind up which

:19:26. > :19:34.towards the green ball. Make your it. Looks like a backhand draw.

:19:35. > :19:41.This is a big bowl, in the context of this game. Darren needs to score

:19:42. > :19:48.here. This is massive, doesn't want the jack, wants to miss the jack and

:19:49. > :19:54.stay up. On the wrong side of the jack about was the problem, always

:19:55. > :19:58.on the inside. Always pushing the jack towards Greg, if he had of made

:19:59. > :20:07.contact. This is looking awfully jack towards Greg, if he had of made

:20:08. > :20:15.good now for 2-0. I think Darren needed to score two doubles. But you

:20:16. > :20:18.are right, if Greg scores one, he is through to the quarters. I don't

:20:19. > :20:25.think we can do nigh Greg has been the better player. -- I don't think

:20:26. > :20:32.we can deny Greg has been the better player.

:20:33. > :20:45.Well, one really good bowl from Greg and Darren will be in a heap of

:20:46. > :20:46.trouble. Must score, realistically a two on this end to give himself a

:20:47. > :21:01.real chance. 15 ends were played and Darren has

:21:02. > :21:10.only won four. But Greg has been picking him up

:21:11. > :21:19.Tempting for Greg. His normal play here would be to be aggressive to

:21:20. > :21:31.this. I don't think I would be too aggressive. Doesn't need to be.

:21:32. > :21:39.this. I don't think I would be too missing the ball. Well, the thin

:21:40. > :21:43.edge put him off the line, but he probably would have been very close

:21:44. > :21:51.to coming in right behind the jack. A clear run, he was good there,

:21:52. > :22:00.Greg. Turned his back on it. Turned his back, but still running. He

:22:01. > :22:05.knows he is not up. Greg can afford to play a little more to it this

:22:06. > :22:12.time. Jack in the ditch for the game almost now. Wow. Not sure he will

:22:13. > :22:15.play with all of that weight, that he will

:22:16. > :22:21.play with all of that weight, that his own short ball. He is going for

:22:22. > :22:29.it. He likes a forehand runner. He is under. Taken his own

:22:30. > :22:32.it. He likes a forehand runner. He sitting. He was never going to be

:22:33. > :22:35.any more than one down. However, he has given Darren a chance to score

:22:36. > :22:46.two or three here. This needs to be good. I never read

:22:47. > :22:52.too much into the way Darren reacts after a ball goes away because he is

:22:53. > :23:00.often close. He is coming through with that. Well... It's OK. It's OK

:23:01. > :23:01.but he didn't want it there, it is four feet through. That was meant to

:23:02. > :23:16.draw the shot. Greg, you don't need to run at this

:23:17. > :23:20.head. Well, it has to be a draw, surely. He can get past his own

:23:21. > :23:24.ball. He was very close last time and got a thin edge. You can also

:23:25. > :23:28.play the backhand and be defensive and drop in there. If he gets into

:23:29. > :23:33.that sort of area, it is going to be close to stop Darren scoring a

:23:34. > :23:40.double. One shot is not a big issue for him. He is happy to lose one

:23:41. > :23:46.here, Greg. Darren needs a three in the last hand. Greg is happy with

:23:47. > :23:52.one down, this won't be a runner, I think it will be a draw. Clear a

:23:53. > :23:58.path to the jack. Playing the backhand, just a draw.

:23:59. > :24:07.Yes, just trying to close the head down, that's all. If this finishes a

:24:08. > :24:16.foot behind, his happy. Very close to it. Doesn't look behind. It is a

:24:17. > :24:18.good ball, but Darren has to decide whether he wants to take a risk

:24:19. > :24:33.here. He has to take a risk, he has to try

:24:34. > :24:42.and trail the jack. It's there. It is definitely available. Got to take

:24:43. > :24:48.the chance, got to take the chance. Try and trail the jack, 18 inches

:24:49. > :24:52.and he scores a three. If he picks a one up, that will not be good

:24:53. > :24:56.enough. He won't get three in the last end. That's what he's looking

:24:57. > :25:00.at, trying to bring the jack into that sort of position. There is

:25:01. > :25:07.absolutely no reason not to play that. OK, you may just give the game

:25:08. > :25:12.away but that's too bad. You have to take a chance. I think the game is

:25:13. > :25:18.gone if he scores just a single. The way Greg is playing it will be hard

:25:19. > :25:24.to pick up a three. He has picked up a three earlier in this set, but

:25:25. > :25:29.only one end. It is a big bowl and a difficult one.

:25:30. > :25:34.I suppose the option is to play across it with a forehand but I

:25:35. > :25:38.don't like the look of that. I think he is being positive. I think he is

:25:39. > :25:46.playing the right shot. He could still get a result being tight, he

:25:47. > :25:52.could get a result. Edge and the Jacquie for three. He didn't get a

:25:53. > :26:08.free but it is a fortuitous two. That could give him a Smith here. --

:26:09. > :26:13.a sniff. Darren's last ball was slightly under. A fortunate result,

:26:14. > :26:29.picks up a two. Acknowledges it was a little lucky.

:26:30. > :27:18.Greg is still very much in the driving seat. He is effectively

:27:19. > :27:23.carrying that one shot over from the first set, because Darren must win.

:27:24. > :27:29.Greg will be thinking to himself, I can have one, but no more. You are

:27:30. > :27:33.right, he has a little cushion, however his opening ball has put a

:27:34. > :27:37.bit of pressure on him. It has finished in the centre, so that

:27:38. > :27:51.might stop the running ball. Darren probably needs a closer shot here.

:27:52. > :28:02.Well... Now... Greg would take those two balls out earlier in the set,

:28:03. > :28:05.but at this stage he will probably draw. Yes, looking for the draw. A

:28:06. > :28:30.yard on your last delivery. Not quite. Coming across the dough

:28:31. > :28:33.balls. Close enough he can play that forcing shot, if he needs it. It

:28:34. > :28:45.would have been better if he hadn't come across the dough. -- across the

:28:46. > :28:59.red. Darren needs to make this one count.

:29:00. > :29:09.Change of hand, needs to come back row quickly. That is good. A lot of

:29:10. > :29:16.pressure now on Greg. What does he do? Forehand draw or a runner? He

:29:17. > :29:21.has been so good at the brawls, but the difficulty is, if he is just a

:29:22. > :29:27.foot over the weight in the forehand you will slip on through. Sticking

:29:28. > :29:32.with the forehand. Good choice, confident in the draw. No reason why

:29:33. > :29:39.he cannot draw, he has been playing well enough.

:29:40. > :29:52.He is close with this. Very close. Second shot, well done, Greg.

:29:53. > :30:11.A clap from Kay. Hard now, does he play all the way through and try and

:30:12. > :30:17.take the green out or try to convert the jack on the forehand? That's

:30:18. > :30:24.what he's looking at. Replace the green ball. A hard shot without

:30:25. > :30:28.bringing the jack out. I agree, but I think that is the only thing on.

:30:29. > :30:31.The forehand is there but it struggles to get out when you put it

:30:32. > :30:36.on a wide line. Darren Burnett has one ball to stay in this

:30:37. > :30:46.championship. And he has one wall to keep the quest for the treble going.

:30:47. > :30:51.As one ball. It is very difficult, it really is. This is a hard shot. I

:30:52. > :30:58.think play the backhand, try and remove the green ball. Put off his

:30:59. > :31:02.delivery, he still has time. He can take a time out. The stock clock has

:31:03. > :31:09.been stopped. It has. Potentially the last ball of the

:31:10. > :31:25.match. He has gone with a lot of weight. He

:31:26. > :31:37.needs the green ball to go out. Yes, just a ball under. He punches his

:31:38. > :31:46.fist in the air. He has won today. He played very well. That was a

:31:47. > :31:49.great ball in the last end. It is there to say that Greg was the

:31:50. > :31:52.better player, Darren was not showing the form that he showed

:31:53. > :31:59.earlier in the week. Both will be happy. Darren has had a great

:32:00. > :32:06.Championships. He certainly has, and he will be happy to take away two

:32:07. > :32:13.titles, no doubt about that. But Greg is more than happy to lose just

:32:14. > :32:14.a single shot to draw the set and go through to the semifinals. He played

:32:15. > :32:31.well. Well, Greg said his stall out very

:32:32. > :32:39.early in the match. Driving the jack into the ditch. Last ball, crunching

:32:40. > :32:49.the jack into make three. His driving was superlatively to that

:32:50. > :32:55.was enough for the set. A little touch on the jack to make three that

:32:56. > :33:01.he in the fifth end. And Greg just getting the perfect contact to get

:33:02. > :33:06.the shot with one against him. This was the ball that set up the

:33:07. > :33:10.position for Darren on the eighth end. Fortunate result, acknowledged

:33:11. > :33:16.right away. Just half ball tight on that. It's all over. Greg Harlow

:33:17. > :33:25.goes through to the quarterfinals. It will be quite tight on this one.

:33:26. > :33:31.That was all to do with Greg in the second set in particular. He really

:33:32. > :33:33.was just more consistent on the day. He will be delighted with that

:33:34. > :33:41.performance. A very good professional. Congratulations to

:33:42. > :33:45.Greg Harlow, through to the next round. Disappointment for you,

:33:46. > :33:48.Darren, can you give us your thoughts on how you played in

:33:49. > :33:53.Darren, can you give us your first set in particular and how much

:33:54. > :33:57.were you put off by your opponent? I did not quite turn up the way I have

:33:58. > :34:01.been playing, but it's my ninth game of the tournament and you can't

:34:02. > :34:06.produce every time at this stage, and you will struggle. I can only

:34:07. > :34:12.fight and I proved that. Greg played a great last ball. If I nicked it

:34:13. > :34:17.out I could have been in the tie-break but Greg

:34:18. > :34:19.out I could have been in the deserved it. You have already won

:34:20. > :34:26.two trophies, how would you sum up your time here? It is fantastic, the

:34:27. > :34:30.singles is vitally important, but I can't complain. It's been a great

:34:31. > :34:35.couple of weeks. Disappointing today but well done on your two trophies.

:34:36. > :34:39.Greg, you are playing well and the guys in commentary were singing your

:34:40. > :34:45.praises in the first set. That is unusual but nice of them! I was very

:34:46. > :34:51.comfortable and I got off to a good start to settle any nerves. For most

:34:52. > :34:59.of the enzyme was finding a good pace. -- for most of the ends I was.

:35:00. > :35:06.How lucky were you in the second set? You know that Darren will

:35:07. > :35:09.always fight. A lot of these chaps, especially Darren, is capable. I was

:35:10. > :35:15.just thinking, if he pushes it through I will just try to take one

:35:16. > :35:20.out. I was trying to keep focused and fortunately he missed and I did

:35:21. > :35:25.not have do play my last bowl. Greg Harlow is through to the

:35:26. > :35:29.quarterfinals of the singles. This match took place this morning

:35:30. > :35:35.between the man who knocked out Andy Thomson in the first round, Connor

:35:36. > :35:41.Cinato, 19 years of age, in his first ever appearance at Potters

:35:42. > :35:47.Resort. Against Jamie Chestney, ten years older but still in his 20s.

:35:48. > :35:51.His first ever appearance was in 2007. We will pick up the match in

:35:52. > :36:02.the first set and in the seventh end, so far, Connor has been

:36:03. > :36:04.struggling to keep tabs on his opponent. He will now look to close

:36:05. > :36:21.out the set as soon as he can. He has settled into the game very

:36:22. > :36:33.well this morning. A little bit of a point to prove to

:36:34. > :36:41.the selectors. After being left out of the world squad, the elite team

:36:42. > :36:49.for England. I'm surprised about that. Going to New Zealand, those

:36:50. > :36:54.players have to be proficient on fast greens. It must be a very

:36:55. > :37:27.strong squad. Well, Connor, he will know from

:37:28. > :37:28.practice that the one thing you can't do is search down the Tight

:37:29. > :37:48.Lines. Jimmy will not worry if he is losing

:37:49. > :37:57.a single at any stage. He is running down the ends. Obviously he wants to

:37:58. > :38:04.get this set out of the way as quickly as possible. The edge was

:38:05. > :38:15.always going to help. He has made the double. That is a bit of a

:38:16. > :38:26.bonus. You can see it going around the back of the jack, towards the

:38:27. > :38:33.red. Using his first time-out of the game. He has options, if he wants to

:38:34. > :38:37.play into that, he can, but personally I think he should draw

:38:38. > :38:44.it. He has played three good draws already. Just draw it. There is no

:38:45. > :38:52.point getting a bad connection and giving Connor an easy draw. The way

:38:53. > :38:57.Jamie has played, there is a good chance he will have to draw the

:38:58. > :39:03.shot. I think he is over it. You can't blame him, wanting to reach. A

:39:04. > :39:06.little chance for Connor now, not an easy spare. It is needed really to

:39:07. > :39:25.give himself any chance in the set. He just needs to sneak up. Not

:39:26. > :39:32.quite. Two is good. It may not be enough to give him the chance that

:39:33. > :39:34.he needs going into the last end. Now he needs another double to force

:39:35. > :39:55.the ninth end. Connor just want to keep the set

:39:56. > :39:56.going as long as he can. That is his mum and dad watching on, Caroline

:39:57. > :40:41.and Martin. Jamie will be very happy just to

:40:42. > :40:59.pack this head and lose a single and walk away with the first set.

:41:00. > :41:32.He is pushing this up, Connor. I don't think he has quite got through

:41:33. > :41:39.it. That is one that he could afford to reach. Turning the jack or the

:41:40. > :41:49.ball would have been good. He will face a set with the lie against on

:41:50. > :41:57.his last ball. Jamie with a nice little need draw in. Hitting the

:41:58. > :42:03.jack would be a bonus. He wants to lock his own ball and he has. The

:42:04. > :42:10.jack on the draw for a double. It's never easy when you are looking for

:42:11. > :42:16.it. He has given it a chance but I don't think it will quite get back.

:42:17. > :42:20.Always difficult to get back there, isn't it? One shot and the first

:42:21. > :42:40.set, Jamie Chestney. good value, Jamie Chestney, in that

:42:41. > :42:49.particular set. He played very well, good draw balls. Putting Connor

:42:50. > :42:53.under pressure. Yes, a deserved set win, Connor did not play badly, to

:42:54. > :43:07.be fair, his first couple of bowls every end were good.

:43:08. > :44:05.A little bit of a change by Connor here.

:44:06. > :44:14.It's so easy when you win the first set to just relax a little bit in

:44:15. > :44:15.the second. You just need to keep your concentration, tried to get the

:44:16. > :44:31.first end under your belt. That's better. He needs to get over

:44:32. > :44:42.the line a little bit there. Just on the line... It's about 15 inches

:44:43. > :44:44.short. If you can get past that you are not far away. This is better by

:44:45. > :44:50.Connor is well. Jamie

:44:51. > :45:14.Two and a half inches. Jamie

:45:15. > :45:22.very close. He has got it. Well, that shot was very high and he made

:45:23. > :45:27.it look easy. He really did. That was a hard shot to play. Very

:45:28. > :45:36.controlled weight. Not many players would have played that. He has got

:45:37. > :45:42.Connor right under pressure again. Connor needs to pull another one out

:45:43. > :45:52.of the bag here. He is on the right line. He is close. Just needs to

:45:53. > :45:56.grab it. Well done. Jamie might be looking for that. He can draw

:45:57. > :46:05.through the jack all played the bowl out. Even without the touch he was

:46:06. > :46:17.drawing the shot. He is going again. Looking for the jack. He got it!

:46:18. > :46:18.CHUCKLES Without his own bowl he wasn't going

:46:19. > :46:33.to score. Yes, he got the edge of the jack and

:46:34. > :46:34.also his own bowl, otherwise he was losing one, maybe two. Good bowl,

:46:35. > :47:09.good result. England's squad has been announced.

:47:10. > :47:19.Yes, they announced it a little while ago. .. 11, and 12 in the

:47:20. > :47:23.men's. Similar with the ladies. We will see what happens. They had a

:47:24. > :47:31.reasonably good championship is over in Cyprus. Yes, they did indeed. But

:47:32. > :47:35.it is much different, you have to look at players that are cable of

:47:36. > :47:39.playing on 18 second greens, which means they are playing very fast.

:47:40. > :47:43.The mental strength to deal with the wind and the difficulty is that it

:47:44. > :47:56.brings with it. The general consensus is that when they announce

:47:57. > :47:59.the squad for the World Championships and then the

:48:00. > :48:02.Commonwealth Games which are on a different grass in a different part

:48:03. > :48:09.of the Southern Hemisphere, over in Queensland, so it will be different

:48:10. > :48:16.again. That is why you have do pick from quite a large amount of

:48:17. > :48:20.players. -- have to pick. There are some players, not in the England

:48:21. > :48:27.elite squad, but in others, they are indoor specialists, they don't play

:48:28. > :48:31.outdoors any more. But they have got into those squads. Yes, and were

:48:32. > :48:35.very good reasons. It is always a tough one when it is an outdoor

:48:36. > :48:36.squad. You have do pick the best players available for the

:48:37. > :48:47.conditions. He saw the gap and took the chance

:48:48. > :49:37.and it worked out very well. Very quickly down on that one,

:49:38. > :49:42.Connor. I thought he would have a think about it. I thought he would

:49:43. > :49:49.after the drive, to be honest. That was close enough to go at the jack.

:49:50. > :49:55.I am with you on that, a surprising choice of shot.

:49:56. > :50:05.These guys have been out there just about 35 minutes. They are really

:50:06. > :50:13.powering on. They are both very quick players.

:50:14. > :50:16.Connor can almost take a step back and try to slow things down a little

:50:17. > :50:33.bit. Jamie is in such rid now, he will

:50:34. > :50:38.see his game... -- rhythm now. I was just going to say that. The shot

:50:39. > :50:45.clock has restricted the opportunity to slow the game down too much,

:50:46. > :50:50.but... Following the second bowl down, so you are at the head, and it

:50:51. > :51:26.changes the pattern of the whole game. Tricks of the trade.

:51:27. > :51:34.Just over it. Yes. He has turned that bowl into a better position,

:51:35. > :51:47.even though it is only two or three inches it has narrowed the target.

:51:48. > :51:51.Jamie thinks he is heavy with this. Well, he was right, he was just a

:51:52. > :51:57.little bit heavy but not much. A nice little shoulder for Connor rest

:51:58. > :51:59.on. They are both reaching into the two bowls, to be honest. A decent

:52:00. > :52:12.target there. Yes. Well, that was the only thing he did

:52:13. > :52:15.not want to be. If Jamie finds one right in front now, he will be in

:52:16. > :52:31.heaps of trouble. He was on a great line. Any drop now

:52:32. > :52:40.is very good. He is making the three. It is hard enough to draw

:52:41. > :52:46.that. Looks like there was at least two that will be stuck in if he

:52:47. > :52:55.drives it, so back to the draw. He won't get back. Yes, that was

:52:56. > :52:58.sitting, as soon as he hit the outside it was never going to make

:52:59. > :53:11.any difference. He had the lock on it. Once again, Jamie Chestney lifts

:53:12. > :53:16.and early treble. -- an early treble. Only three ends into the

:53:17. > :53:19.second set and Jamie already looking at the finishing line, looking for a

:53:20. > :53:35.big finish in the next couple of ends.

:53:36. > :53:38.It has basically been the perfect performance so far by Jamie, he has

:53:39. > :54:28.not put a foot wrong. It is relentless from Jamie at the

:54:29. > :54:33.moment. He is just not in top form and that is not an easy target. He

:54:34. > :54:35.will just try to draw up and give himself a shoulder to try to widen

:54:36. > :55:14.the target. There is David Gurley at the back.

:55:15. > :55:16.Les Gillett talking away in his ear. That is why he has the music on.

:55:17. > :55:40.That is very harsh! It is a cold draw again by Jamie.

:55:41. > :55:46.Any touch on the Reds and you would probably give him the shot. He won't

:55:47. > :55:50.be too concerned. A little touch on the back of the bowl could roll it,

:55:51. > :55:53.maybe. He won't be too concerned about the single, does not want

:55:54. > :56:08.Connor score in multiples. He just wants to get back for the

:56:09. > :56:18.edge. Didn't quite. That was a good effort.

:56:19. > :56:25.Not exactly a spare shot opportunity. Almost wouldn't be

:56:26. > :56:28.playing it, to be honest. It's a great effort here. Surely not! What

:56:29. > :56:39.a bowl! There was a risk of giving the shot

:56:40. > :56:45.away but he has picked up a wonderful double. Great confidence

:56:46. > :56:47.from the young man to play that. It is so easy to get in behind the jack

:56:48. > :57:11.and fall back on it. Typical youngster, no nerves, just

:57:12. > :58:07.goes out and plays the bowl, don't think about it.

:58:08. > :58:39.Is a missed chance for Jamie, there. Looking to string a couple of ends

:58:40. > :58:44.together. He is under and he knew that, out of the hand. I can only

:58:45. > :58:50.say it so often, I suppose, but you just can't go searching like that.

:58:51. > :58:55.It has been a bit harder this year because you are getting closer to

:58:56. > :59:00.the inside lines and you know you are not getting back, especially

:59:01. > :59:08.down the backhand. Yes, you have to use the mat and strong bias balls.

:59:09. > :59:16.It is not affecting Jamie as much. Well, we expect this to be strong.

:59:17. > :59:24.Both bowls down the backhand. Oh, that is quick. He has got one of

:59:25. > :59:33.them at least. I tell you what, that was going apace.

:59:34. > :59:40.He has got a big drive on him, Connor, but accurate as well, which

:59:41. > :59:47.is the main thing. Jamie should be getting a double here. Does he let

:59:48. > :00:08.him off? Well, that was a missed chance.

:00:09. > :00:21.Connor will be thinking to himself it could have been worse, and Jamie

:00:22. > :00:23.will be thinking it should've been. But the set is still running away

:00:24. > :00:45.from the young man, 6-2. If Jamie goes... His target will

:00:46. > :00:50.obviously be to try and get the set over as quickly as possible, but he

:00:51. > :00:55.is playing very well. He is roaring exceptionally well. --

:00:56. > :01:23.Good time to play this, ten o'clock in the morning because of the

:01:24. > :01:33.practice time beforehand. You are not waiting around all day. Yes,

:01:34. > :01:36.very good session. At seven o'clock you get the half-hour practice

:01:37. > :01:43.beforehand, which is always very nice for players, to get warmed up

:01:44. > :01:51.and get everything moving. There is a chance for a late change of balls

:01:52. > :02:01.depending on the atmospheric conditions out there. Talking to

:02:02. > :02:05.players in the last couple of weeks, this is the best session to play in.

:02:06. > :02:09.The green seems to be a little quicker in the mornings. Yes. Number

:02:10. > :02:29.two. Well, could be. Good, solid contact

:02:30. > :02:50.on the ball. We've now played 13 ends and Connor

:02:51. > :02:55.has only managed to score on three of them. It has been a dominant

:02:56. > :03:02.performance by Jamie. That is mainly down to the draw shots.

:03:03. > :03:20.The last ball has finished... It is not ideal, but... Connor has the

:03:21. > :03:24.turnover, a little touch of the jack, bring it on to the Reds. One

:03:25. > :03:28.option with the forehand and two with the account. He looks very

:03:29. > :03:37.narrow to me. Just looked a little bit on the

:03:38. > :03:58.inside. An exercise in closing things down

:03:59. > :04:15.from now on. Jamie will just want to look to win

:04:16. > :04:25.this end, which will almost close the match out, to be honest.

:04:26. > :04:35.A puff of the cheeks from Connor. Jamie hasn't let him in today, he

:04:36. > :04:36.has played extremely well. Always tough out there, if your opponent is

:04:37. > :05:08.playing so well. That is the best first ball for a

:05:09. > :05:32.while. I don't think that's going to be

:05:33. > :06:05.enough, but it is a very good ball. The forehand out of commission.

:06:06. > :06:13.Backhand draw. Certainly worth arriving at it. It might be an

:06:14. > :06:18.option for the next shot. The same with Connor here, you might as well

:06:19. > :06:25.go deep and give yourself a chance with the last.

:06:26. > :06:38.That is a great effort. Yes, doesn't want it touching the jack, though.

:06:39. > :06:52.Now, Jamie. Got to be worth trying a runner. Be very unlucky to take both

:06:53. > :06:59.of them out. It is one of those, he probably will, but it is a tough one

:07:00. > :07:10.for Connor to get another. A forehand with pace. He is an

:07:11. > :07:14.attacking player, isn't he? All on connections now. Not only did he

:07:15. > :07:19.take one out but you might have managed to get the shot out of that.

:07:20. > :07:26.That would be a brilliant result. A good

:07:27. > :07:42.Connor still looking well, absolutely spot on at the

:07:43. > :07:53.Sandra hasn't said much, so Connor moment. It is hard to tell. Time-out

:07:54. > :08:00.Sandra hasn't said much, so Connor will be looking for ball onto ball,

:08:01. > :08:25.but that is a harder shot. This could be the callipers coming

:08:26. > :08:34.out. Jamie conceded the one. Another end gone, and he is still... Jamie

:08:35. > :08:46.Chestney just needs to score this end, and the match will be over. We

:08:47. > :08:54.are not playing... We are short of an hour. A very fast game.

:08:55. > :08:58.Connor might have to change something drastically. Just try to

:08:59. > :09:36.change something. He didn't change much, and Jamie has

:09:37. > :09:42.been drawing so well. He has played to the odd weight shot but being on

:09:43. > :09:47.target for those two. Forcing Connor into playing the difficult shots. So

:09:48. > :09:53.much so he is doing so again. Great effort from Connor.

:09:54. > :10:20.Jamie just looking to pack the now. Very good, again.

:10:21. > :10:31.Connor reaching, trying to hold this in sideline. He is close to the

:10:32. > :10:37.green one. Jamie will try and pop another one back in again.

:10:38. > :10:47.He can't get the green ball out, I don't think, without it blocking.

:10:48. > :11:03.He's almost replaced it, that third shot. This isn't easy.

:11:04. > :11:10.He needs a double at least, so he has to play a shot here. Look to

:11:11. > :11:22.turn the jack. He's going for the hit and hope. Always looked under.

:11:23. > :11:25.That was a very professional performance by Jamie Chestney. He

:11:26. > :11:31.put the young man under pressure early in the match with a good draw

:11:32. > :11:38.shots. And today Connor had no answer. STUDIO: It meant Jamie

:11:39. > :11:41.Chestney was through to the quarterfinals and he will play

:11:42. > :11:47.Robert Paxton. Alex Marshall takes on Stuart Anderson. Greg Harlow also

:11:48. > :11:53.booked his spot in the last eight. David Corkill alongside me. We have

:11:54. > :11:57.seen today Jamie Chestney and Greg Harlow go through. Both players have

:11:58. > :12:02.had good success the past. Jamie is one of the young guys coming

:12:03. > :12:06.through. Yes, Jamie has been here before and played very well but I am

:12:07. > :12:10.more impressed with the way he is drawing at the moment. I think he is

:12:11. > :12:14.a definite threat. We will talk about Ellen Falkner, the star of the

:12:15. > :12:18.day. It has been a long time since she won this trophy. I think as we

:12:19. > :12:24.saw with Alex Marshall earlier in the week, the champions, when they

:12:25. > :12:28.need to produce the big bowls, they do. They do. You always have that

:12:29. > :12:33.depth to go into and you have to say to yourself, can I go deep and go

:12:34. > :12:39.into that well of good balls must mark that was fantastic. That bowl

:12:40. > :12:43.was fantastic. And that won Kerber set. People talk about making an

:12:44. > :12:51.adjustment in your mind when you are playing bowls and the best players

:12:52. > :12:56.seem to do it so easily. We knew beforehand with the better shot. She

:12:57. > :12:59.had the confidence to move to the forehand and play a perfect

:13:00. > :13:04.delivery. Got the shot she needed, and of course, that is what you

:13:05. > :13:08.expect from past champions. Absolutely, outstanding performance

:13:09. > :13:11.from Ellen Falkner. She is the champion in the ladies singles. Just

:13:12. > :13:21.to remind you what is coming up on the BBC. Highlights at 12:15am.

:13:22. > :13:25.Tomorrow on the red button, the men's quarterfinals.

:13:26. > :13:41.Alex Marshall going for a seventh title. But today, the star of the

:13:42. > :13:47.show with Ellen Falkner. She won this title in 2005 and 2006, so she

:13:48. > :13:51.has had a ten year wait to get her hands on the trophy. But as they

:13:52. > :13:54.say, all good things come to those who wait. Goodbye.
