:02:11. > :02:15.Welcome to a special Golden edition of British Olympic dreams. The most

:02:15. > :02:20.famous clock in the world is ticking down to the Games. Let the

:02:20. > :02:24.final preparations begin. Today we bring you a choice

:02:24. > :02:29.selection of Team GB's brightest hopes for success. First up the

:02:29. > :02:38.sailor who launched the Torch Relay at Land's end in May. Already the

:02:38. > :02:45.winner of three gold medals, Canon Ben Ainslie make it four in a row?

:02:45. > :02:49.-- can. He is a fierce competitor on the

:02:49. > :02:55.water. To beat him you have to be at your very best. If you are not

:02:55. > :03:01.you do not have a shot. He is a fantastic athlete, probably going

:03:01. > :03:05.to beat the best sailing at great there has ever been. I can

:03:05. > :03:11.seriously say I know no-one I would put my money on more than Ben

:03:11. > :03:17.Ainslie. Every time he does the business.

:03:17. > :03:22.I think that his talent will be recognised for many generations.

:03:22. > :03:27.is a very quiet guy, just gets on with his business. Doesn't really

:03:27. > :03:33.worry about what is happening around him. I can see a lot of

:03:33. > :03:37.money within him. It makes you feel very proud to

:03:37. > :03:42.represent your country at the Olympics. That is where the special

:03:42. > :03:50.aspects of the Olympic Games, that you are representing Great Britain

:03:50. > :03:53.on the world stage and you feel that so much more at the Olympics.

:03:54. > :03:58.The British team has done fantastically well. This is an

:03:58. > :04:02.incredible opportunity for London 2012. When you talk about living at

:04:02. > :04:05.the Olympic level, it is obviously a lot about hard work, what you are

:04:05. > :04:11.willing to put into it. Most importantly it is about dealing

:04:11. > :04:17.with the pressure of racing at the Olympic Games. It is only every

:04:17. > :04:22.four years. You may or may not get another opportunity to be there. It

:04:22. > :04:28.is a lot to deal with. You have to be have to handle that pressure

:04:28. > :04:31.when it counts at the key moments. It is such a cliche to say that the

:04:31. > :04:37.top performers raise their game when it matters. But no-one does

:04:37. > :04:41.that like Ben. You never doubt. You never doubt on a last race that he

:04:41. > :04:44.will come up with the goods. It is literally just channelling all of

:04:44. > :04:50.that aggression and make it productive, working hard at being

:04:50. > :04:54.more physical, being aggressive and tactical. I think that race against

:04:54. > :05:00.rabbit in the Sydney Olympics was the most pressure I have felt in my

:05:00. > :05:05.career. -- Robert. There was so much at stake in regard step our

:05:05. > :05:11.personal battle which we had been having for four years. Robert one

:05:11. > :05:18.in the 1996 Olympics. I got the silver. -- won the gold medals. If

:05:18. > :05:22.I lost again in Sydney that would have been very hard to take. He is

:05:22. > :05:26.the kind of guy that you can never count out of a race, even when he

:05:26. > :05:31.is in a tough situation, he seems to break back. You can always be

:05:31. > :05:41.sure that he will be behind you and try to pass you and doing his best

:05:41. > :05:43.

:05:43. > :05:46.to be the winner in the end. I dreamed of going to the Olympics

:05:46. > :05:56.maybe one day and maybe being successful. But I never dreamt that

:05:56. > :06:04.I would get the opportunity to do it on home waters. We had all that

:06:04. > :06:07.training can see when we were kids. It would be incredible. It is a

:06:07. > :06:12.pretty special place. They have been training there for many years.

:06:12. > :06:15.It is home away from home. There will be a lot of people going down

:06:15. > :06:21.to see Ben Ainslie complete and be part of that moment. Hopefully he

:06:21. > :06:27.can win another gold medal. It is a sport I have made my life. It is

:06:27. > :06:31.what I enjoy doing. To be ever to race at the Olympics at the highest

:06:31. > :06:41.level, that is what keeps me going and focused and determined to try

:06:41. > :07:18.

:07:18. > :07:25.Jessica Ennis started 2011 a strong favourite for heptathlon Alan bit

:07:25. > :07:29.of gold. But the subsequent loss of set indoor and outdoor totals shows

:07:29. > :07:34.nothing is certain in sport. We joined her with her coach she

:07:34. > :07:41.competed at the prestigious golf this meeting in Austria, a crucial

:07:41. > :07:46.dress-rehearsal for the Olympics. In Austria in a small town, this

:07:46. > :07:52.will be the one heptathlon that Jessica does before the Olympics.

:07:52. > :07:57.Is the one chance to see what kind of shape she is sent. Everybody is

:07:57. > :08:07.here except for my javelin coach. But it is great to have everyone

:08:07. > :08:16.

:08:16. > :08:20.here. The physiotherapist. They know my body inside out.

:08:20. > :08:28.Those socks are terrible. It is tense when you're coming to

:08:28. > :08:35.debate. It is nice to bring a bit of humour a few days before the

:08:35. > :08:41.event. Just about to start. They will

:08:42. > :08:50.start the first event. She went well and she is happy. Card asked

:08:50. > :08:54.for anything more than that. -- we cannot ask for.

:08:54. > :08:58.We have to be happy with that. A little bit nervous about the jumps.

:08:58. > :09:08.We have not done any jumping competitions before coming here. We

:09:08. > :09:11.

:09:11. > :09:20.will see. I think it should be all She will not be happy with that in

:09:20. > :09:29.the slightest. We'll just move on. A very solid shot board, her

:09:29. > :09:39.season's best. -- shot put. If she can run quicker than 2321, heaven

:09:39. > :09:54.

:09:54. > :10:04.You know the last five metres? You needed to lay in in! A I have a lot

:10:04. > :10:10.

:10:10. > :10:20.more to do tomorrow. -- lean in. tension in this event. Don't try

:10:20. > :10:30.

:10:30. > :10:40.too hard. But still put in an I am so glad I have not come away

:10:40. > :10:58.

:10:58. > :11:08.Personal best. Nice that. If she runs to 14, she might break the

:11:08. > :11:14.

:11:14. > :11:19.I am so pleased that I managed to get most of the events right and

:11:19. > :11:24.scored a personal best and the British record. It is brilliant. It

:11:24. > :11:31.is all about the Olympics now. I have done my first heptathlon of

:11:31. > :11:38.the season. My next big one is the Olympics. It is very much here now.

:11:38. > :11:41.I'm ready. Now to a hopeful who is used to a

:11:41. > :11:46.bird's eye view. Tom Daley. He media spotlight has been fixed

:11:46. > :11:51.on him since he made his debut in Beijing aged just 14, turning him

:11:51. > :11:55.into a house on it. But what does he reckon about his rise to stardom

:11:55. > :12:05.and chances of success in London? Who better to tell us and the young

:12:05. > :12:13.

:12:13. > :12:17.We have known he is quite special. My first Olympic Games were in

:12:17. > :12:21.Beijing in 2008. I was the youngest member of Team GB, only 14 years

:12:21. > :12:26.old. It was an amazing experience. I can remember going there and

:12:26. > :12:30.being completely taken back by how big the Olympics were. I remember

:12:30. > :12:34.walking out the Opening Ceremony seeing all of these thousands of

:12:34. > :12:39.people cheering and the audience and just the scale of the event was

:12:39. > :12:42.incredible. My first competition was the Synchro competition. I

:12:42. > :12:48.remember standing on the ward looking at the water and seeing the

:12:48. > :12:52.Olympic rings and thinking, wow, I have actually become an Olympic.

:12:52. > :13:02.For me the individual competition went well. I came seventh. For 14

:13:02. > :13:06.

:13:06. > :13:10.euros, I consider that very good. Tom Daley. -- 14 years old. Going

:13:10. > :13:14.into 2009 it was the World Championships. I was 15. I came

:13:14. > :13:24.away with a gold medal, quite unexpected. That was my greatest

:13:24. > :13:30.

:13:30. > :13:37.I went in there completely not expecting to win a medal. It's I

:13:37. > :13:47.went in there and just tried my best. I rumbled some of the Chinese

:13:47. > :13:51.

:13:51. > :13:58.competitors and came away with the Going into 2010, I went to be, was

:13:58. > :14:02.games. It was an amazing event. -- going to the Commonwealth Games. I

:14:02. > :14:09.did not expect to come away with two medals. That was a great

:14:09. > :14:16.achievement. In 2011, I had four new diets. It increased my degree

:14:16. > :14:22.of difficulty. I ended up coming fifth at the watch and the chips,

:14:22. > :14:32.but that was expected because of the four at New dives that I had. -

:14:32. > :14:33.

:14:33. > :14:39.- the World Championships. It is about time that we got some

:14:39. > :14:43.good news in our family. It has been a very tough few years, losing

:14:43. > :14:50.family members and things like that. For me it will be great, and for my

:14:50. > :14:57.family, to be had -- to be able to have a good Olympic Games. 2012,

:14:57. > :15:01.the Olympics are just around the corner. I have become world series

:15:01. > :15:05.champion individually and also in the synchronised competition. So

:15:05. > :15:15.for me, I cannot wait to go to the Olympic Games in London, compete in

:15:15. > :15:16.

:15:16. > :15:20.front of a home crowd, and I cannot wait to get there and compete.

:15:20. > :15:29.You can find out much more about his campaign for Olympic gold in

:15:29. > :15:34.Tom Brady, diving for Britain, on BBC One, Monday 21st July.

:15:34. > :15:39.This time four years ago, a 19- year-old swam her way into Olympic

:15:39. > :15:43.history by winning two gold medals and setting a new world record.

:15:43. > :15:49.Success has brought the weight of expectation for Rebecca Adlington,

:15:50. > :15:56.but she has found some unusual ways of dealing with it.

:15:56. > :16:04.You are quite a fan of the jigsaw. I love them. Do you fancy this one,

:16:04. > :16:10.in 50 minutes? 100 pieces. Your time starts now.

:16:10. > :16:15.competitiveness is going to come out in me. Where did it come from?

:16:15. > :16:21.It is something that I loved going over. For me, you do not get angry,

:16:21. > :16:28.or stressed, you are always going to solve it, it is not a problem

:16:28. > :16:34.like a maths equation. Putting together and I love London one. You

:16:34. > :16:38.qualified for London 2012. I feel pretty good. It was strange because

:16:38. > :16:48.so many people were coming up to me and saying, of course you are going

:16:48. > :16:52.to qualifiers. It was one of those things that is never a guarantee.

:16:52. > :16:57.She is still using her feet, Rebecca Allington. I kind of a new,

:16:57. > :17:03.but I was on target, towards the end of the race, and I was sick

:17:03. > :17:09.thinking, yes, yes this is kind of it. -- it was such an emotional

:17:09. > :17:17.time. Especially with Joe qualifying as well, I have got so

:17:17. > :17:22.many amazing memories. Could we get two medals? It looked like it could

:17:22. > :17:29.be Rebecca Adlington, the gold- medallist. Great Britain, gold and

:17:29. > :17:34.bronze, Adlington and Jackson. It must have been incredible to share

:17:34. > :17:40.the podium with someone you know so well. It is incredible, we were

:17:40. > :17:45.thinking, has this just happens? We were shocked. It was amazing to

:17:45. > :17:50.have two British girls up there. Especially one that I am so close

:17:50. > :17:58.to. I would cherish those memories forever. No-one can take those

:17:58. > :18:05.medals off me. People ask me where I keep them but I do not know. I

:18:05. > :18:09.think they are at my parents' house. For me, my parents come to every

:18:09. > :18:13.need that I have been too. They have been all over the world,

:18:13. > :18:18.supporting me. It is so nice to share with them because they have

:18:18. > :18:28.been behind me the whole way. I always feel that they are not just

:18:28. > :18:33.

:18:33. > :18:39.my bagels, they belong to them as well. -- my medals. If I offered

:18:39. > :18:47.you a gold in the 400 metres, and a silver in the 800 metres, would you

:18:47. > :18:57.take it? I do not know. I would probably say no. I want to do my

:18:57. > :18:57.

:18:57. > :19:06.best. 800 is the bent that I love a lot more. -- is the event. You won

:19:06. > :19:11.two got in Beijing. It is obviously going to be two in London. I cannot

:19:11. > :19:16.say that. That is what makes it exciting. It is going to be

:19:16. > :19:22.extremely tough but I want to improve. Whether I come away with

:19:22. > :19:28.gold, silver, bronze, as long as I have done my best, I would be happy.

:19:28. > :19:35.How long was that? That was completed in less than 40 minutes.

:19:35. > :19:39.But you did half. It was a joint effort.

:19:39. > :19:44.On the 1st August, if all goes according to plan, Greg Searle will

:19:44. > :19:49.line up in a growing final, begin to win Olympic gold at the age of

:19:49. > :19:53.40. It will be 20 years to the day since he famously joined his

:19:53. > :19:58.brother to take on one of the greatest running parings of all

:19:58. > :20:03.time. They met up to talk us through that epic encounter in

:20:04. > :20:10.Barcelona. We always knew that we could get to

:20:10. > :20:18.the final and we believed that we could be -- we could win. It all

:20:18. > :20:24.came together on that morning. They were not looking at us. It was like

:20:24. > :20:28.David and Goliath. Literally. The night before the race, sitting down,

:20:28. > :20:32.having a very earnest conversation, saying, we are good enough to win

:20:32. > :20:39.this thing. If we come in any position except for first that

:20:39. > :20:49.counts as losing. Do you remember thinking at the time, about now,

:20:49. > :20:53.this is the Olympic final, maybe we are going to win a gold medal?

:20:53. > :20:57.went away. I'm sitting here thinking, we planned this. We

:20:57. > :21:02.planned this for the halfway mark, they are doing it straight away.

:21:02. > :21:12.Not only did they go out to a land of clear water, they carried on

:21:12. > :21:18.

:21:18. > :21:23.going. A left behind is not too bad. Now I'm thinking, right, Olympic

:21:23. > :21:29.final, it is my job to make sure that we raise the race of our lives.

:21:29. > :21:39.Does it schlocky when you looked at it now? I remember a day or two

:21:39. > :21:40.

:21:40. > :21:48.later, and I could not believe it was our race. There is going to be

:21:48. > :21:54.some fireworks to get back on terms. One month and a half. They are

:21:54. > :21:59.going for a change of gear. This is where Gary did he is the thing. I

:21:59. > :22:04.cannot remember many of the words that he actually said. But I

:22:04. > :22:11.remember this unshakeable belief in his voice. We had only practised at

:22:11. > :22:16.once or twice. What can they do here? They are making the effort

:22:16. > :22:22.and closing the gap. We came into silver-medal position and I thought

:22:22. > :22:32.wow, we are going to win the silver. I remember throwing their Ford away

:22:32. > :22:32.

:22:32. > :22:37.and saying no, we are here to win. We have got 15 strokes to get to

:22:37. > :22:43.the Italians. They are coming and coming again. They are going to go

:22:43. > :22:49.through them. I think they can do it. I was looking at their bow man.

:22:49. > :22:59.We were coming up, coming up, and they just kind of start running --

:22:59. > :23:00.

:23:00. > :23:09.rowing. That is a great achievement. A fantastic race, what an amazing

:23:09. > :23:14.upset. That is how you are meant to celebrate. You cannot describe it.

:23:14. > :23:18.When you are on a medal podium, and you have the ultimate accolade,

:23:18. > :23:23.there is nothing better, being at the Olympic Games, of representing

:23:23. > :23:33.your country, winning, the flag are going up, the national anthem, it

:23:33. > :23:41.

:23:41. > :23:45.does not get any better than that. It was she guts and courage. When I

:23:45. > :23:50.look at what rate has done, my complete and utter emotion is

:23:50. > :23:56.jealousy. Why didn't you bring me up and say, why didn't we do this

:23:57. > :24:01.together? I like winning an Olympic gold medal, I like to do that, but

:24:01. > :24:06.do I want to do all the training and be away from my family? I want

:24:06. > :24:13.to be 22 again, winning a gold medal in Barcelona, I enjoyed it a

:24:13. > :24:19.lot. Would I do it now? As a whole career, I am already proud of my

:24:19. > :24:25.time. Darling into the Olympic Games, it is the same mentality as

:24:25. > :24:29.it always was. -- going into. I would only be happy if I win.

:24:29. > :24:35.Everything else will feel like losing.

:24:35. > :24:39.That's it. The Games are almost upon us. So much has happened since

:24:39. > :24:44.we started following Britain's Olympic hopefuls at the end of 2010.

:24:44. > :24:51.For many, the dream of pique -- becoming a London an Olympian is
