:00:56. > :01:01.The this is London 2012's s spectacular Aquatics Centre. A

:01:01. > :01:06.wonderful new building. This is a journey that thousands of people

:01:06. > :01:11.will be making this week to watch an Olympic test event, a test of

:01:11. > :01:21.this building's capability of hosting the event and the ultimate

:01:21. > :01:23.

:01:24. > :01:33.test of our summers -- swimmers. Even if you are a household name,

:01:34. > :02:12.

:02:12. > :02:18.It is all about qualifying for the Olympic Games. This man has been on

:02:18. > :02:25.the British team for five Olympic Games. But it is too late to go for

:02:25. > :02:34.it again. Remind us of what is involved in this trial process.

:02:34. > :02:44.First past the post under a qualifying time. The second summer

:02:44. > :02:47.

:02:47. > :02:53.has to do the top 16 time in the world. -- the second swimmer. How

:02:53. > :02:58.different does this trial process a feel? All at the top has been about

:02:59. > :03:05.London. The public are aware that London is going to happen. Normally,

:03:05. > :03:10.no one is aware that we are having Olympic trials. It is on the

:03:10. > :03:14.television all the time however. This is almost like the Olympic

:03:14. > :03:22.Games itself. These guys are getting the opportunity to see the

:03:23. > :03:28.whole venue. But it is high pressure. You are one of the

:03:28. > :03:36.commentating team. We have a complete set of medals because we

:03:36. > :03:41.have got Sharron Davies as well. Also Adrian Moorhouse. All eyes

:03:41. > :03:46.first of all were upon at Great Britain's golden girl, Rebecca

:03:46. > :03:52.Adlington. The most successful Olympic some were at the Olympics

:03:52. > :04:00.for Great Britain in over 100 years. But there was no guarantee that she

:04:00. > :04:10.would qualify to defend those medals. She was nervous ahead of

:04:10. > :04:35.

:04:35. > :04:45.her first event, the women's 400 A bit of movement on the blocks

:04:45. > :05:08.

:05:08. > :05:18.A bit of movement on the blocks point. Good strong stroke rate from

:05:18. > :05:24.

:05:24. > :05:34.Adlington there. 100 metres left. Becky Adlington looking beleaguered.

:05:34. > :05:41.

:05:41. > :05:51.will make the British team. Becky Adlington always knew that she was

:05:51. > :05:51.

:05:51. > :06:36.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 44 seconds

:06:36. > :06:46.Britain's it took medallist ats from Beijing will be representing

:06:46. > :06:47.

:06:47. > :06:57.Britain in London. The relief is great. A very impressive at swimmer.

:06:57. > :07:03.

:07:03. > :07:13.statement of intent. It was a bit too hard. I just had to go out

:07:13. > :07:28.

:07:28. > :07:34.there. If I did not attack it, it may have worked. It is such hard

:07:34. > :07:42.core. We get a put five and the morning, we have done it for years.

:07:42. > :07:52.But knowing they are going to be here in this atmosphere, it is

:07:52. > :07:55.

:07:55. > :08:01.wonderful. She is definitely showing that she is in form for the

:08:01. > :08:06.summer. It is lovely seeing how much this means to her. She did not

:08:06. > :08:10.have her name on that sheet until she qualified here. She may have

:08:10. > :08:15.been beaten, she could have been disqualified. You have to qualify

:08:15. > :08:25.at the trial saw you do not go to the Games. At one point, she looked

:08:25. > :08:43.

:08:43. > :08:53.record holder in 2009, but her asthma has been giving her a lot of

:08:53. > :08:57.trouble. Seeing her back to almost a best, that is great as well. That

:08:57. > :09:04.is the sort of time a lot to will take to win a medal. Medal chances

:09:04. > :09:14.from both of them potentially the summer. The standard events is the

:09:14. > :09:19.

:09:19. > :09:29.women's 100 metres butterfly. Fran Halsall and Ellen Gandy and Jemma

:09:29. > :09:29.

:09:29. > :10:49.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 44 seconds

:10:49. > :10:55.new British record. Second is Fran idea how have asked I was going. I

:10:55. > :11:01.could not see anybody around me. I just wanted to get on the team.

:11:01. > :11:06.That was a British record. Fran Halsall, so close the world

:11:06. > :11:14.championships last year. What do you feel are at their genuine

:11:14. > :11:19.chances in the Olympics? Three of the girls there with a top eight in

:11:19. > :11:26.the world last year. They are about one second away from where they

:11:26. > :11:34.need to be. But they are definitely in the hunt. That race replicated

:11:34. > :11:44.what the Olympic Games are going to be like. Jemma Lowe has another

:11:44. > :11:44.

:11:44. > :12:51.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 44 seconds

:12:51. > :13:01.race to come. She will be bitterly because of a winner... Cannot Jemma

:13:01. > :13:07.

:13:07. > :13:17.Lowe comeback? It will be very set the two fastest times in the

:13:17. > :13:18.

:13:18. > :13:26.world this year. And that must have heard a huge amount. Ellen Gandy

:13:26. > :13:32.wins. Jemma Lowe joins her on the Olympic team.

:13:32. > :13:42.You do that in a very to pay for way. I was so nervous. I think my

:13:42. > :13:46.

:13:46. > :13:49.race plan read out of the window. You set a very fast pace. I think

:13:49. > :13:57.there are so did we out too fast and I could not control it enough.

:13:57. > :14:07.I will learn from it next time. was so nervous, I just wanted to

:14:07. > :14:10.

:14:10. > :14:16.get that first place. I have to go and come down now.

:14:16. > :14:19.Huge relief for Jemma Lowe. She is on the team. But the race shows you

:14:19. > :14:27.how excruciatingly painful but base can be if you get the tactics and

:14:27. > :14:33.wrong. Four lengths of butterfly is excruciating if you get it wrong.

:14:33. > :14:39.She got a little bit nervous. Fantastic for Jemma Lowe on the

:14:39. > :14:46.back of the disappointment of not meeting the 100 metres butterfly. I

:14:46. > :14:51.am very pleased for both of them. That race is being cheered by about

:14:51. > :14:56.2000 people inside the Aquatics Centre. Come at the Olympic Games,

:14:56. > :15:06.there will be over 70,000 people in here. There will be a lot of

:15:06. > :15:14.

:15:14. > :15:20.Roberto Pavoni secured his place in the 400m individual medley, meeting

:15:20. > :15:24.Joe Roebuck. After words, Pavoni was understandably delighted.

:15:24. > :15:30.have been dreaming about this for years and now. It has absolutely

:15:30. > :15:37.come true now. Robbie Renwick was the man to beat in the 400m

:15:37. > :15:43.freestyle, and he cruised to an Olympic place. David Carry and a --

:15:43. > :15:50.and agonisingly missed out by half a second. It is absolutely

:15:50. > :15:55.phenomenal here. It is just going to be even more of a buzz knowing

:15:55. > :16:01.it is home Olympics. It is going to be great. And the Commonwealth

:16:01. > :16:10.Games gold medallist was at it again in the 200 metres free in a

:16:10. > :16:19.much tighter race. Renwick looks like he is tightening up. Robbie

:16:19. > :16:24.Renwick is going to add the 200 to the 400. After a torrid few years

:16:24. > :16:30.of injuries, it finally came good for the Prestwick swimmer. He was

:16:30. > :16:34.the surprise winner in the 500- metre breaststroke. And Craig

:16:34. > :16:44.Benson came in twice - a rare second to make the British Olympic

:16:44. > :16:50.

:16:50. > :16:58.team. -- came in second to make the right? Not so fast. He has achieved

:16:58. > :17:05.all of his a success in the 500- metre backstroke. Once again, Liam

:17:05. > :17:15.Tancock will have to double his distance to get on that podium.

:17:15. > :17:16.

:17:16. > :17:23.Here is the class of the field. men's 100m backstroke final. Look

:17:24. > :17:29.at that, right in the centre. Liam Tancock has about half of the

:17:29. > :17:34.centre. He is a rocket and he is really going for it. It is always

:17:34. > :17:44.traditional that when Tancock goes well he has to sit on top of the

:17:44. > :17:44.

:17:44. > :17:53.water. It looks a really good there. The first 50. The rest of the field

:17:53. > :17:58.is not able to live with him, I do not think. Chris Walker-Hebborn is

:17:58. > :18:03.a 200 back stroke her. He should come back. He is looking good.

:18:03. > :18:10.Edgar looks like Tancock has a little bit more control. -- it

:18:10. > :18:15.looks like. That was excellent. I was talking to his coach and he

:18:15. > :18:22.said that 300 would be great. That looked really good. A little bit

:18:22. > :18:28.more control than we have seen before. Liam Tancock makes the team

:18:28. > :18:35.for the Olympic Games. He was the only one to make it out of that

:18:35. > :18:42.final. Not a bad time. Is that what you

:18:42. > :18:47.were aiming for? Yes. I wanted to come and swim fast. Also medley, I

:18:47. > :18:52.wanted to qualify for the Olympic team. I have done that. I am on

:18:52. > :18:57.that team now and I want to swim faster in the summer. It is nice to

:18:57. > :19:04.be a part of it and there is a lot more training to come. He has got

:19:04. > :19:09.to get under 53 seconds to be in a medal zone. There are always two

:19:09. > :19:17.Americans in there. He has got a great friend and but he needs to

:19:17. > :19:24.work on the back end. -- he has got a great front end. Sometimes the

:19:24. > :19:28.one that you are best at is not the one included in the Games.

:19:28. > :19:34.would like to think he would be stood on top of the podium, but as

:19:34. > :19:39.frustrating as it is for him, he has to do the two events. I used to

:19:40. > :19:47.do the 50 butterfly and that was not alembic either a. He is a

:19:47. > :19:52.clearly dominant force. -- not Olympic either. You have the three

:19:52. > :19:59.fastest women of all time, British women. You have a Gemma Spofforth

:19:59. > :20:09.and Lizzie Simmonds, but watch out for Georgia Davies. What a scrap

:20:09. > :20:15.

:20:15. > :20:23.This will be very interesting indeed. A very good start from

:20:23. > :20:33.Lizzie Simmonds and a good start from just a couple were as well.

:20:33. > :20:33.

:20:34. > :20:40.She is just 15 years old. There is spot for it and Davies. Very strong.

:20:41. > :20:46.-- Spofforth. It looks like Georgia Davies over first. It is. It is

:20:46. > :20:52.quite fast. I have seen them go out quicker than that. Georgia Davies

:20:52. > :20:56.is normally out quicker than the others. One lane up from her is the

:20:56. > :21:01.European champion, Lizzie Simmonds. Gemma Spofforth is coming up as

:21:01. > :21:06.well. There are only three spots available. It looks like she might

:21:06. > :21:15.be in a bit of trouble. She is coming back. Gemma Spofforth gets

:21:15. > :21:20.the touch. It looks like it might be Spofforth. She has got it.

:21:20. > :21:27.Georgia Davies comes in bright behind. There is two will go. What

:21:27. > :21:35.a finish! -- comes in right behind. Gemma Spofforth just squeaks in.

:21:35. > :21:44.Georgia Davies comes in second. They will go. I am so pleased for

:21:44. > :21:49.you. We were holding our breath. thought this might be one of the

:21:49. > :21:59.last of my career so I wanted to give my all Andy pool. Some people

:21:59. > :22:07.

:22:07. > :22:17.do not understand how close you all will be at the Olympics. -- Georgia

:22:17. > :22:18.

:22:18. > :22:22.Davies. It has not quite snug in. A great race, but amazing to think

:22:22. > :22:29.that half a second slower, Gemma Spofforth might have terminated her

:22:29. > :22:35.career. She has got her groove back. She has been two seconds faster

:22:35. > :22:39.than that in the past. I hope she can relax now. There have been some

:22:39. > :22:45.family problems and she was hugely injured after falling off of a

:22:45. > :22:50.bicycle. But she is coming back. Lizzie Simmonds is clearly

:22:50. > :22:53.devastated to miss out, but she knew that she had another chance.

:22:53. > :23:03.She doubled the distance over 200 metres.

:23:03. > :23:09.The women's 200 backstroke final. Gemma Spofforth is in lane two. The

:23:09. > :23:18.world champion from 2002 is in lane one. None of them is the fastest

:23:19. > :23:24.qualifier. Gemma Spofforth is up and very slow

:23:24. > :23:29.to react. That is unusual for her. Very good start from Lizzie

:23:30. > :23:38.Simmonds. She is going for it again. A great start from the girls in

:23:38. > :23:44.seven and eight. Simmonds is taking all of the 15 metres. Very good

:23:44. > :23:50.start. She is doing what I thought she should do. A fantastic turn out.

:23:50. > :23:56.She looks a very good at the moment. She still looks strong. She has got

:23:56. > :24:01.to hold on. Stephanie Proud is coming back in five. Simmonds looks

:24:01. > :24:08.good. She has got to stay relaxed and hold onto her stroke. She looks

:24:08. > :24:17.very good. Lizzie Simmonds is going to make it. In the end it was very

:24:17. > :24:23.comfortable for her. A very good swim. Well done, Lizzie Simmonds.

:24:23. > :24:31.Massive relief. Lizzie Simmonds makes the team. She is the only one

:24:31. > :24:41.who made the qualification time. It is fantastic to go to the

:24:41. > :24:41.

:24:41. > :24:45.Olympics. It was still not the time I wanted. I didn't make the 100 and

:24:45. > :24:50.it was tough to turn that around and make it positive. It was all

:24:50. > :24:56.about doing the job and making the team. It was all or nothing for

:24:56. > :25:02.Lizzie Simmonds. She was off like a rocket. She had the speed. She

:25:02. > :25:08.literally dominated. I got very excited and nervous or her. She is

:25:08. > :25:15.dominating in the event. -- nervous for her. It was her space and she

:25:15. > :25:22.could have blown it. European champion, of course. In this event,

:25:22. > :25:27.look out for Muller said Franklin. She was only 16 when she won the

:25:27. > :25:31.first time. She could dominate, maybe not this time, but in the

:25:31. > :25:39.future. You have to think about Michael Phelps. He was very good

:25:39. > :25:45.when he was very young. Look at Ian Thorpe. She could literally when

:25:45. > :25:51.six or seven medals. Some relief for Lizzie Simmonds. She is through.

:25:51. > :25:57.Let's reflect on the successes for a sentimental favourite of British

:25:57. > :26:02.women. We start with a breaststroke. Kate Haywood has moved to

:26:02. > :26:08.Australian -- Australia to train. It appears to have paid off. She

:26:08. > :26:13.had a mixed couple of years with injuries but she was called Millie

:26:13. > :26:20.very impressive. I am so relieved. -- she was also medley and very

:26:20. > :26:24.impressive. I am so relieved. Today I thought I should do my own race

:26:24. > :26:29.and forget everyone else. That is what I did and it paid off. After

:26:29. > :26:35.finishing behind her, the 200 provided Stacey Tadd with another

:26:35. > :26:41.chance to get on the team. She got the time she needed, just. She

:26:41. > :26:48.secured qualification by the narrowest of times. And killer

:26:48. > :26:53.McClatchey was the one to beat, but reputation meant nothing. --

:26:53. > :27:02.Caitlin McClatchey. She was 4th until the last 50 metres, when her

:27:02. > :27:05.speed and strength saw her overhaul to get a spot at 2012.

:27:05. > :27:11.Perhaps her success is in part due to some of the insights that she

:27:11. > :27:17.gave in to what it takes to become a global medallist. She has been

:27:17. > :27:22.training with Hannah Miley. Hannah Miley is a Commonwealth gold

:27:22. > :27:26.medallist and she likes the events long and gruelling. Her favourite

:27:26. > :27:33.is the 400 metres individual medley. She is all fired up for that on

:27:33. > :27:43.Sunday. Hannah Miley leading after the fly

:27:43. > :27:44.

:27:44. > :27:50.and the backstroke. That is really hard to do. Miley is leading. Aimee

:27:50. > :27:54.Wilmott is looking good. Stephanie Proud is up in brief. Kerri-anne

:27:54. > :28:01.Payne is doing reasonably well. Hannah Miley looks so strong on

:28:01. > :28:11.this breaststroke. Look at the force up the sweep in. She is

:28:11. > :28:11.

:28:11. > :28:19.recovering. Aimee Wilmott is doing well to hold on. Miley looks down

:28:19. > :28:24.at the edge. This is very good swimming from Aimee Wilmott. I

:28:24. > :28:28.think she is using Miley to dragged her along. As long as she comes

:28:28. > :28:38.second and the time is after them at the 16th fastest in the world

:28:38. > :28:40.

:28:40. > :28:50.last year, then she will go to the Olympics. Aimee Wilmott is in

:28:50. > :28:51.

:28:51. > :28:57.second. Up in third is Stephanie Proud. Hannah Miley leads this

:28:57. > :29:00.final of the women's 400 medley. Aimee Wilmott is second and a long

:29:00. > :29:10.way back in there is Stephanie Proud. It really is all about the

:29:10. > :29:16.time. There are two spaces. Miley will get hers. She has dominated

:29:16. > :29:20.this race. Look how far up she is. That is the quality that she is.

:29:20. > :29:25.She is one of our best hopes for a medal this summer. She is showing

:29:25. > :29:33.her credentials. Aimee Wilmott will have to come back stronger. She is

:29:33. > :29:40.stuck in no man's land. She can still do it. She just has to get a

:29:40. > :29:45.34.99 seconds. She should be able to do that. Miley is dominating the

:29:45. > :29:51.race but look out for Aimee Wilmott. It would be great for her to

:29:51. > :30:01.qualify 28 years after her father. Miley wins the trial. A very good

:30:01. > :30:06.swim indeed from Hannah Miley. Really impressive. Aimee Wilmott

:30:06. > :30:11.absolutely killed it. Those two women are going to be going to the

:30:11. > :30:21.alembics. Look at that! They are utterly delighted. -- to the

:30:21. > :30:36.

:30:36. > :30:41.Olympics. Very impressive times trying and two better my time since

:30:41. > :30:50.did 1010, and to go faster than that is just shows that what we're

:30:50. > :30:54.doing is working. But anything can happen. You have to be very level-

:30:54. > :31:00.headed. You have to be prepared and aware that there are always people

:31:00. > :31:07.coming up behind you and you cannot assume that you will make it. I am

:31:08. > :31:17.going in at the same level as everybody else. It has not hit me

:31:18. > :31:54.

:31:54. > :31:58.properly yet. I cannot wait to tell month. So they Smith. Had that is

:31:58. > :32:08.usually there on her own, it will be nice for her to go him to the

:32:08. > :32:11.

:32:12. > :32:18.race it with a team-mate. -- Hannah. The individual medley is the first

:32:18. > :32:23.final in this Olympic pool. Cam Hannah Miley win that? Possibly.

:32:23. > :32:30.She was second in the world championships last year. If she

:32:30. > :32:40.gets it right on the right day, she will go even faster so it is

:32:40. > :32:40.

:32:40. > :32:47.possible. She likes to work hard. As does Michael Phelps. He

:32:47. > :32:57.describes the 200-metre butterfly as his bread and butter. But on the

:32:57. > :33:21.

:33:21. > :33:31.terms under water. Joe Robuck is making good terms as well. Great

:33:31. > :33:46.

:33:46. > :33:55.skill. Rocca is just off his Robuck is digging in there. This

:33:55. > :34:03.race is not over yet. Look at this. Joe Robuck has taken over the lead.

:34:03. > :34:11.Michael Rock is in second. Joe Robuck has already qualified in the

:34:11. > :34:21.400 medley. This is very fast indeed. Joe Robuck are just dead

:34:21. > :34:23.

:34:23. > :34:31.said. That is an impressive time. Michael Rock has got third. That is

:34:31. > :34:41.a bit of a surprise. Joe Robuck and Roberto Pavoni qualify. But Michael

:34:41. > :34:41.

:34:41. > :34:50.Rock did not make it. I am also be to get another one. This is a bonus.

:34:50. > :34:56.Does it help to get one in the back because you can relax? Definitely.

:34:56. > :35:05.It is almost like a job done. It takes the pressure off postop it is

:35:05. > :35:13.unfortunate. But they deserve their place in the team. Today, I was not

:35:13. > :35:23.quite good enough of. That was settled by a single stroke.

:35:23. > :35:26.

:35:26. > :35:31.Who'd a disappointment for Michael against him. They are used to do

:35:31. > :35:41.doing 400 metres so they have a lot more in the tank. Which are you is

:35:41. > :35:44.

:35:44. > :35:54.the most tough event? I would say their individual medley over 400

:35:54. > :35:56.

:35:56. > :36:06.metres. There was one last-ditch attempt for Michael Rock in the 100

:36:06. > :36:06.

:36:06. > :36:51.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 44 seconds

:36:51. > :36:55.is a good position as well. He is the British record holder. He

:36:56. > :37:05.is coming back well. And he needs to because he is not on the Olympic

:37:06. > :37:18.

:37:18. > :37:28.team yet. Antony James is coming back. Well done to it Michael Rock.

:37:28. > :37:28.

:37:28. > :37:38.He has really stepped up here. Michael Rock makes the team. Jack

:37:38. > :37:46.

:37:46. > :37:50.after the disappointment of the 200. -- I have been down.

:37:50. > :37:59.Michael Rock thrashing of the water with pure relief for there. He was

:37:59. > :38:04.under real pressure. He handled that brilliantly. He did not

:38:04. > :38:11.qualify for the 200 metres, and I think that was the one that he had

:38:11. > :38:15.hoped to win. He had to go home that evening and face up to that.

:38:15. > :38:21.And then he had to build himself up again. There was a lot of pressure

:38:21. > :38:28.on him going into that. Arguably, the big race of the week

:38:28. > :38:37.for the men was a 200 metres breaststroke. Three British men who

:38:37. > :38:47.trained together. Michael Jamieson and Adam Wallace were finalists

:38:47. > :38:47.

:38:47. > :39:37.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 44 seconds

:39:37. > :39:43.in the 200. It they have gone off if he loses. They are going head-

:39:43. > :39:49.to-head. This is going to be a really tight with just 50 metres to

:39:49. > :39:59.go. Andrew Willis seems to have overtaken. Michael Jamieson coming

:39:59. > :40:01.

:40:01. > :40:09.back was up the time is very fast. That was absolutely brilliant.

:40:09. > :40:19.Andrew Willis it looks so good. Michael Jamieson s second. What a

:40:19. > :40:26.great swimmer from Andrew Willis. Kristopher Gilchrist, the British

:40:26. > :40:33.record holder does not make the team.

:40:33. > :40:42.The it was a really competitive race. We just went for it. They

:40:42. > :40:46.gave it everything. Earlier in the week, you were very disappointed.

:40:46. > :40:55.But now you are going to the Olympics. I am so relieved now to

:40:55. > :41:00.be going. It has been a frightening last few days. There has definitely

:41:00. > :41:10.been something missing this week, I had been missing that extra little

:41:10. > :41:10.

:41:10. > :41:20.spark. I did or if it was a fear of failure that drew -- that drove me

:41:20. > :41:29.You have to feel for Kristopher Gilchrist.

:41:29. > :41:31.I have been on the team with them for a few years. It must be very

:41:31. > :41:39.difficult for them all because they are good friends and they train

:41:39. > :41:49.together. They were probably hoping that one of them would have made

:41:49. > :41:55.

:41:55. > :42:03.the 100. I think that everything went into this. UK back aged 35, so

:42:03. > :42:06.there is still hope for them. It may not seem like it here at the

:42:06. > :42:10.Aquatics Centre, but swimming is not just about qualifying and

:42:11. > :42:20.medals. It is a great way for you to raise money for Sport Relief.

:42:21. > :42:26.

:42:26. > :42:36.And this is how you can make a big the evening. It does not matter how

:42:36. > :42:38.

:42:38. > :42:43.good you are, everyone can have a Back to business here. A great race

:42:43. > :42:48.in prospect in the men's 200 metres medley. James Goddard is the

:42:48. > :42:58.favourite, he is an all rounder, but he is specialising in this

:42:58. > :43:23.

:43:23. > :43:30.event for the Olympic here. -- year. seen these guys. The really have to

:43:30. > :43:40.work this time. If they are going to go under the qualification time,

:43:40. > :43:47.

:43:47. > :43:52.they will really have to go for it. Joe Robuck makes a great time. That

:43:52. > :44:01.is just stunning. He is looking very good indeed. I expected it

:44:01. > :44:09.James Goddard to be leading. Now he is using backstroke. Luca James

:44:09. > :44:19.Goddard, he looks super. -- look at James Goddard. He is leading half

:44:19. > :44:56.

:44:56. > :45:01.way. But Joe Robuck looks good as stunning. Just macro -- Joe

:45:01. > :45:10.Roebuck's turns are just stunning. He is being chased but he is still

:45:10. > :45:20.at the top. Are they going to make the times? I am sure they are.

:45:20. > :45:27.Roebuck wins it. They both made the team, and what a great swim that

:45:27. > :45:37.was. Joe Roebuck wins the medley. He makes the Olympic team. James

:45:37. > :45:38.

:45:38. > :45:43.Goddard adds his name to the team as well. Michael Phelps is number

:45:43. > :45:48.three in the world this year. missed out four years ago. Busier I

:45:49. > :45:53.have qualified in three events. -- this year I have qualified in three

:45:53. > :45:57.events. It is brilliant. It is an amazing feeling. It is like a

:45:57. > :46:06.weight off your shoulders. I have been trying to keep it together all

:46:06. > :46:13.day. What a brilliant week for Jospeh Roebuck. He got into the

:46:13. > :46:20.Olympics with three different events. Despite racing up against

:46:20. > :46:28.Michael Phelps, there is the bronze in the 200m medley that is still

:46:28. > :46:32.open. The third place is up for grabs. That is why James Gardiner

:46:32. > :46:38.pulled himself out of the -- James Goddard pulled himself out to

:46:38. > :46:43.concentrate on that. It is slightly worrying for him. He said he has

:46:43. > :46:50.been suffering from a mystery illness that he did not want to

:46:50. > :46:55.divulge. It is a pure belief that he got through. All of his eggs are

:46:55. > :47:04.in one basket. The time mine does not change in a championship. You

:47:04. > :47:09.are either a ready or you are not ready. We need to just make sure

:47:09. > :47:18.that -- he needs to just make sure he can hold out till the Olympic

:47:18. > :47:24.Games. There is great news on Thursday night. The very first

:47:24. > :47:32.world record ever sat in this world -- in this Sir Terry Leahy. It was

:47:32. > :47:42.done by Ellie Simmonds. -- in this pool. She went on to become the

:47:42. > :47:48.

:47:48. > :47:58.interview. Many come regulations. You are very

:47:58. > :48:02.

:48:02. > :48:10.pleased, are you not? I just cannot believe it! I have been in races

:48:10. > :48:15.that I was not happy with. I knew I could swim faster. I had a bad head.

:48:15. > :48:21.I cannot believe it. It already looks very promising for her this

:48:21. > :48:26.summer, as it does for Fran Halsall. She has already qualified for the

:48:26. > :48:32.Olympics in the 100 metres butterfly, so she can relax going

:48:32. > :48:35.into the 100 metres freestyle. But with a place in the medley relay

:48:35. > :48:44.and other spots in the sprint relay, this was going to be a competitive

:48:44. > :48:53.race. Look out for her. You cannot miss her. Pretty in pink. Rebecca

:48:53. > :49:03.Turner is looking great in brief. Smith in five. McClatchey in two.

:49:03. > :49:09.

:49:09. > :49:14.metres individual freestyle. There is also the medley relay as well.

:49:14. > :49:24.The winner of this is going to have quite some fun. Fran Halsall got

:49:24. > :49:42.

:49:42. > :49:48.off a very fast indeed. She looks doing it. Fran Halsall looks really

:49:48. > :49:53.good. She set a British record in one of those shiny suits. She is

:49:53. > :50:03.going fast down the first 50. Smith is coming back. Ed looks like it is

:50:03. > :50:10.going to be helpful. -- it looks like it is going to be Fran Halsall.

:50:10. > :50:18.We said it Amy could dip under 54 at some time it would be great.

:50:18. > :50:22.Fran Halsall, winning the women's freestyle. A very good time indeed.

:50:22. > :50:29.Just at a Lloyd in 4th. He worked so hard for this. --

:50:29. > :50:35.Jessica Lloyd. I am 24 now. This will be my first Olympics come up

:50:35. > :50:41.which is quite late for some people. I am a -- Olympics, which is quite

:50:41. > :50:49.late for some people. I am a late developer. I want to enjoy this

:50:49. > :50:54.race and have a lot of fun. The pink suit is a lot of fun or so.

:50:55. > :50:59.think it was Fran Halsall's could she said that this was the fastest

:50:59. > :51:05.she has ever gone. It looks a really positive for her. She has

:51:05. > :51:08.got people pushing her. That brings the best out in her. She is going

:51:09. > :51:15.to have huge amounts of confidence for next year. She is only a

:51:15. > :51:21.fraction of a second away from beating the rest of the world.

:51:21. > :51:29.is going to be a very busy programme for her. I think she will

:51:29. > :51:35.qualify for the 50 freestyle. If you throw in the heats and the

:51:35. > :51:43.finals, that his nine races. There will be a lot of warming up and

:51:43. > :51:48.pepping and nervous energy. Rebecca Adlington was the focus of

:51:49. > :51:52.attention once again in the 800 metres freestyle. This is perhaps

:51:52. > :51:58.the event which represent her best chance of getting another gold

:51:58. > :52:04.medal at the Olympic Games. She is the reigning Olympic Commonwealth

:52:04. > :52:09.champion. She has -- gold champion. She has been setting some

:52:09. > :52:19.fascinating times. There will be no Jazmin Carlin in this one. She

:52:19. > :52:27.appears to be suffering from Grand -- glandular fever.

:52:27. > :52:37.Rebecca Adlington, lane four. She is a world record holder and an

:52:37. > :52:46.

:52:56. > :52:57.

:52:58. > :53:07.Adlington. -- a great start for Rebecca Adlington. She has worked

:53:08. > :53:16.

:53:16. > :53:23.it pretty hard and faster than she Eleanor Falkner is on target to

:53:23. > :53:29.qualify. She has got to go under eight minutes and 29 seconds. She

:53:29. > :53:35.is still working very hard and is chasing Rebecca Adlington. Rebecca

:53:35. > :53:41.Adlington has been a little bit off for the rest of it this race.

:53:41. > :53:44.crowd here are being treated to a swim that is world class. A lot of

:53:44. > :53:49.people have come to this competition who were not able to

:53:49. > :53:53.get tickets to the Olympics themselves. They just wanted to see

:53:53. > :54:03.Rebecca and it is a treat to see someone like this in their home

:54:03. > :54:08.pool. It is quality. Rebecca Adlington is going to go faster

:54:09. > :54:18.than her record here. Two lengths to go. 100 metres. She gets the

:54:18. > :54:28.bell. She is going to go under eight minutes and 20 seconds. --

:54:28. > :54:32.

:54:32. > :54:36.think the crowd and know what is happening with Rebecca Adlington.

:54:36. > :54:45.The fight is being waived and people are cheering Rebecca on to

:54:45. > :54:55.this victory. People are urging Eleanor Falkner on. People are

:54:55. > :55:05.

:55:05. > :55:10.She should be able to. What a great display this has been. The World

:55:10. > :55:20.record holder is in the Olympic water -- pool and looks absolutely

:55:20. > :55:26.fantastic. It is wonderful to see. Rebecca Adlington secures the first

:55:26. > :55:35.spot. The second spot, well done, a loner for do. She is going to join

:55:35. > :55:41.a Rebecca Adlington at the Olympics. Look at Rebecca. She looks fabulous.

:55:41. > :55:48.She is barely breathing. She is breathing, she is breathing!

:55:48. > :55:54.Really impressive stuff from Rebecca Adlington. Eleanor Falkner

:55:54. > :55:59.makes the team as well. I just wanted to put in a good time. It is

:55:59. > :56:04.important to see where you are forced up I kind of hope I would

:56:04. > :56:12.poll five for this event -- where you are. I kind of hoped I would

:56:12. > :56:18.qualify for this event. I always strive to improve. I am so glad I

:56:18. > :56:24.have moved on from where I was last year. I am so glad I have improved

:56:24. > :56:30.by two seconds. I can look for ways to improve ahead of the Games.

:56:30. > :56:38.was Rebecca Adlington's target event. We are now joined by the GB

:56:38. > :56:48.performance swimming director. What sort of time was Rebecca's time,

:56:48. > :56:50.

:56:50. > :56:58.and what does it mean? It sets a high bar for the rest of the

:56:58. > :57:04.competitors. And she did her it solo. She goes out hard and leaves

:57:04. > :57:13.the race out and does her own race. That sent a signal to the others

:57:13. > :57:23.and they know she is on top form. How valuable has the experience in

:57:23. > :57:24.

:57:24. > :57:29.the Olympic pool Ben? -- in the Olympic pool been? It is a massive

:57:29. > :57:34.positive for us. We will take a lot of things away from this. We can

:57:34. > :57:39.start preparations for the Games now. There are still a few chances

:57:39. > :57:47.for more people to qualify. Is that exceeding expectations? The last

:57:47. > :57:54.few Olympic Games, you had the T2 in Beijing. How do you rate it? --

:57:54. > :57:59.32 in Beijing. I think we will reach our target here. We have

:57:59. > :58:05.another six swimmers that could qualify individually. We could have

:58:05. > :58:10.a team in the High 40s. That is something. The secondary trials

:58:10. > :58:17.will be in June. Remind us adore metal targets for the summer.

:58:17. > :58:23.want to match or exceed what we did in Beijing. We won six medals.

:58:23. > :58:33.Three of the medals came from the pool and three in open water. We

:58:33. > :58:41.

:58:41. > :58:46.will talk air have a maximum of two medals. We are in the position to

:58:46. > :58:53.do that. We have got to do it on the day. We wish you and the team
