:00:24. > :00:28.Welcome to Maryland, the autumn colours creeping into the hills. We

:00:29. > :00:33.have some skiing here, but while we still have some summer sunshine, it

:00:34. > :00:52.is time for the World Championships in Canoe slalom.

:00:53. > :01:00.Even better in the World Championships last year in Prague.

:01:01. > :01:04.The familiar face, charging through that first gate. Dave Lawrence can

:01:05. > :01:06.get in amongst them here. He has a really good chance. David Florence

:01:07. > :01:09.is the world champion. Malorie Franklin will want to maintain her

:01:10. > :01:14.form, and find the quickest way possible down the course. Switches.

:01:15. > :01:19.Great silver medal for Great Britain. Richard Hounslow here, they

:01:20. > :01:23.were very close to the Olympic champions, they got the silver.

:01:24. > :01:29.Florence could become the first man in 60 years to win two gold medals.

:01:30. > :01:30.Looking very good so far. Buoy oh buoy, did they stay close to that

:01:31. > :01:42.one. If you're confused about the

:01:43. > :01:51.complexities of this sport, the Cs and Ks, canoes and kayaks, mall ory

:01:52. > :01:59.is coming to the rescue. Here's her quick guide. This is my kayak. It's

:02:00. > :02:04.a slightly different shape to my canoe. This is my paddle. Two ends

:02:05. > :02:09.which gives me the second blade as opposed to my canoe with one. This

:02:10. > :02:16.is my boat. You get in it. Put your feet out in front of you. Feet go to

:02:17. > :02:24.foot rest. Here. Then my legs go to the side which gives stability in

:02:25. > :02:24.the boat. This is my canoe. I use a single

:02:25. > :02:32.bladed paddle with a T grip so This is my canoe. I use a single

:02:33. > :02:35.angle the blade. To get in this boat it is slightly more

:02:36. > :02:38.angle the blade. To get in this boat quite tight. You tuck your legs

:02:39. > :02:46.underneath you like this. Once in the boat, you strap yourself in and

:02:47. > :02:49.do both straps up. Nice and tight. It is slightly uncomfortable. I

:02:50. > :02:56.can't sit in it for that long. You get used to it. It is nice and

:02:57. > :03:03.secure, nice and tight. This course might look natural but it is all

:03:04. > :03:06.man-made. It throws up all sorts of complexities for the canoeists to

:03:07. > :03:12.manage. British pad letter Beth Latham takes you through some of the

:03:13. > :03:17.key points on the course. Here we are at the top of the

:03:18. > :03:22.course. The same gate sequence as in qualifications. The guys have had

:03:23. > :03:29.two runs. You need to get the rhythm on the boat and speed up from gate 3

:03:30. > :03:36.to 4. Here we are at gates 7, 8 and. We've

:03:37. > :03:41.two upstream gates. They have to paddle in an upstream direction. The

:03:42. > :03:45.water is more inconsistent which is more challenging for the pad letter

:03:46. > :03:52.when crossing over the flow. Here we've one of the biggest water

:03:53. > :04:00.features on the course dropping with big waives. The pad letter has to

:04:01. > :04:07.decide to keep as much momentum on the boat as possible. Here we are at

:04:08. > :04:12.the bottom of the course, the pad letters' arms are aching by this

:04:13. > :04:16.point which is made hearder by a tight offset into gate 22. Down here

:04:17. > :04:21.it is really important to stay to the plan and get to the bottom of

:04:22. > :04:28.the course as quickly as possible. Our first final is going to be the

:04:29. > :04:31.men's C1. We were hoping to see David Florence compete for Great

:04:32. > :04:37.Britain, as you can see, he's standing next to me. David, it must

:04:38. > :04:41.be disappointing to end the defence 6 your World Championship gold in

:04:42. > :04:47.the semi-final? Definitely. Not a very good weekend for me. Sometimes

:04:48. > :04:50.that happens. If you sign up to compete at these things you might

:04:51. > :04:56.have a bad day. That's the way it's gone. I wasn't on a great run but a

:04:57. > :05:00.reasonable enough run. That middle section, it just felt like the wave

:05:01. > :05:07.hit me hard. I couldn't get he boat to turn. That was it. Gone. Once you

:05:08. > :05:12.go back for a gate it's over. Without wishing to dwell, the C2

:05:13. > :05:18.went wrong for you and Richard? C2. Hard to believe how it went so

:05:19. > :05:23.disastrously wrong. In all my years of competing I've never missed a

:05:24. > :05:29.semi-final in C1 or C2. To not get through to the semis was an abysmal

:05:30. > :05:36.performance. Deep Creek will not be high on your CV when you come to

:05:37. > :05:42.write it at the end of your career? The other C1 guys are pushing me.

:05:43. > :05:48.We've Tom Quinn in the final. Let's talk about Tom. What kind of pad

:05:49. > :05:51.letter is he? He's made good progress over the winter. Really

:05:52. > :05:56.secured his place in the team. Seems to have been training well on here.

:05:57. > :06:02.He had a bit of a rib injury. You see that with a lot of guys. I don't

:06:03. > :06:07.think it'll make a difference to his performance. Too could be there for

:06:08. > :06:14.the taking. You just don't know. In the C1 final some other big names

:06:15. > :06:20.missed out? Yeah. Martinkam being the most notable. Five time Olympic

:06:21. > :06:26.medallist. Not just me. Some interesting results in the C2. Even

:06:27. > :06:33.missing the semi-finals. Some interesting results. The it could go

:06:34. > :06:40.off. Thanks for stopping. You've not had the easiest week at all. Over

:06:41. > :06:55.then to the men's C1 final. Our commentators, Patrick Winterton and

:06:56. > :06:59.Helen reefs. Franz OntoN from Germany. I wonder if he'll take a

:07:00. > :07:08.different approach here in the final? Off to a quick start the temp

:07:09. > :07:14.owe seems different to this in the semi-final. The first upstream great

:07:15. > :07:18.5 in this course, tight in and away. He has to get that boat speed up and

:07:19. > :07:24.running. As he drops into this double up. The 8/9 section. Well

:07:25. > :07:29.executed. A drive across the stopper. Across that Eddie line.

:07:30. > :07:40.Good dip of the tail there. Back out into the flow. A nice start. For

:07:41. > :07:47.Franz Anton. A chance of meddling here. If he goes clean -- medaling.

:07:48. > :07:51.He's in the top three or four in boat #1350eed. A question of how

:07:52. > :07:56.many penalties he picks up. At the moment he as clear. Tight on gate

:07:57. > :08:03.14. Back into the flow. A critical section. Through 15. Reads it well.

:08:04. > :08:08.Good paddle work. Finding squeezed in 16. Putting in an emergency spin.

:08:09. > :08:25.But he did it well. Got back on track. Drove into 17. 18, this is

:08:26. > :08:30.where he dips his head. Given the judges cause for thought. They'll

:08:31. > :08:35.examine that to make sure the whole of the head was inside the gate.

:08:36. > :08:40.Through 20, 21, 22. Two more gates to go. Now it's all about the energy

:08:41. > :08:45.reserves. He will he a take the top time provided he doesn't get a 50

:08:46. > :08:52.second. It hasn't come up so far. A new time. Franz Anton takes the lead

:08:53. > :08:57.for Germany. Without a single penalty. 1: 10: 30. That will take

:08:58. > :09:01.some beating. He made that one mistake where he had to do the

:09:02. > :09:06.emergency spin at gate 16. Didn't really lose him any time. He's blade

:09:07. > :09:14.is on the right-hand side of the boat. His pro Dom napped blade. It

:09:15. > :09:19.is a tough ask to get the boat back across the 16 and back into 17.

:09:20. > :09:25.There are six upstream gates. The only British competitor in the

:09:26. > :09:32.final. Thomas quin who took the belong medal in the under-23 World

:09:33. > :09:36.Championships this year. This will be sensational if he medals here.

:09:37. > :09:41.We'll watch the split times as he works his way down. He's already

:09:42. > :09:46.done better than 15th last year in Prague. Guaranteed a top ten finish.

:09:47. > :09:51.Nice and tight but not so quick round that gate. We'll start to see

:09:52. > :09:56.himself set himself up to get the line. Drop the boat in with that

:09:57. > :10:04.crossbow, driving across the wave. He has to draw the boat right back

:10:05. > :10:12.into the nine. Well done. 37: 59. He's only half a second outside.

:10:13. > :10:16.Certainly is in with a shout of moving into top position. He has to

:10:17. > :10:22.find that half a second somewhere. Had to work hard on gate 12 to get

:10:23. > :10:27.the boat out into the flow. Tight on 14. This is where Anton was very

:10:28. > :10:34.good. A little slow getting in to the wave. Uses the fact he's a

:10:35. > :10:44.righty well to negotiate gates 15, 16. A little slower coming across to

:10:45. > :10:51.17 than we saw from the German Franz Anton. Half a second down last time.

:10:52. > :10:56.Not bad. Still outside but only.16 of a second. Caught a little in the

:10:57. > :11:00.stopper. A quarter of a second. A heavy hit then a big reverse stroke.

:11:01. > :11:05.We want to see the strokes on the front of the boat, on the bow,

:11:06. > :11:11.driving it forward. A sticky point here. Fractions of time going away

:11:12. > :11:19.from him. Just two gates to go. The leading time of the German 1.10.30.

:11:20. > :11:25.He will be outside Anton's time. 1.12.18. Good effort. Certainly

:11:26. > :11:30.having lost David Florence in the semi-finals, I think the British

:11:31. > :11:34.camp can breathe a sigh of relief. A respectable run from Thomas quin.

:11:35. > :11:48.Will it make the top five? We'll have to wait and see. Here we go.

:11:49. > :11:55.Bronze Medal last time round in Prague. He's smooth. Powerful.

:11:56. > :12:09.Usually manages to keep a nice flat boat. He won in it. . Really opens

:12:10. > :12:14.up his stroke. Long reach. Strong blades. Needs to draw it in around

:12:15. > :12:18.gate 8. Kept the momentum on the boat. Slightly lower than we've seen

:12:19. > :12:34.but caught the water coming back up through the Eddsy. .16 inside the

:12:35. > :12:39.split. That's belonging to Anton, the current leader. Now, a crucial

:12:40. > :12:44.part of the course, staying tight to that right-hand side. Nicely judged.

:12:45. > :12:51.Can he get back into the flow nice and quick? A bit quicker than we saw

:12:52. > :12:55.from Thomas quin but a different approach being a lefty. Taking on a

:12:56. > :13:01.spin. A nice direct line from 16 to 17. Very quick. Though slightly

:13:02. > :13:05.slower between 15 and 16. We'll see a variety of options in that

:13:06. > :13:10.section, the moment enif you can is carried through the stroke. 2.67

:13:11. > :13:19.seconds up now. Getting a bit stuck in 19. Losing some of that

:13:20. > :13:24.advantage. Four gates to go. First few are fairly straightforward.

:13:25. > :13:30.Round 22. Nice and quick. Back into the fast water. Powerful paddling as

:13:31. > :13:33.he works towards the finish. Just getting the back of the boat sucked

:13:34. > :13:41.in costing him a fraction of a second. 1.10.30. 1.68. Great run

:13:42. > :14:03.from the slow Ianian. He takes the lead. Anton leading. Back to the

:14:04. > :14:09.Germans. This is Jan #3w6789 Bezin. He runs a kayak school outside

:14:10. > :14:13.Leipzig. His wife a former pad letter. I guess that helps when

:14:14. > :14:20.you're as passionate about the sport as he is. A little sticky on the

:14:21. > :14:30.exit at gate 5. Needs to find his rhythm. Nice jump over the wave into

:14:31. > :14:35.8. Working hard on the cross. Wants to keep that boas dry as possible.

:14:36. > :14:39.Want to see the boat on top of the water dancing so there's no water on

:14:40. > :14:50.the deck. When we see water on the bow or front, it means the time will

:14:51. > :14:55.be getting slower and slower. Through Savage Falls. 54 seconds on

:14:56. > :15:06.the clock. Still outside that leading time. Quick and dynamic spin

:15:07. > :15:11.on 15. Needs to get the bow around to get as direct a line into 17.

:15:12. > :15:16.Nicely done. Right under the pole. Great work through 17. Back into the

:15:17. > :15:21.main flow. Always looking for the fastest bit of water. Drops down the

:15:22. > :15:43.tongue from 18. Tried to punch his way. Crafty little spin as he heads

:15:44. > :15:47.through 19. He needs to dig the Blades in deep. All that energy I

:15:48. > :15:57.all that burning through the arms as he pushes towards the final line.

:15:58. > :16:02.11.5. Goes into third position. So, Germany, their last challenger has

:16:03. > :16:13.gone. Now, I wonder how the crowd will get into this? It is fabben

:16:14. > :16:17.Lefevre. It will be a sensational result if he came to win this one.

:16:18. > :16:24.The fastest in the semi-finals. A beautiful smooth run. Wondering if

:16:25. > :16:28.he has anything more to give? Has he another gear to get up? He needs to

:16:29. > :16:33.repeat what he did. If he puts in the running time he did this

:16:34. > :16:39.morning, he will take the lead. Getting a bit stuck on gate 9. He

:16:40. > :16:46.needs to find his rhythm again. He's a very smooth pad letter. An

:16:47. > :16:50.innovator in style. In 2002 he was a man to follow. Will he be the man to

:16:51. > :16:55.follow again? I wonder how the French will feel if he comes through

:16:56. > :17:00.to take the title here. Down the drop. He looks to be fractionally

:17:01. > :17:06.outside. I'm not sure he has the quickest time at the moment. But 15,

:17:07. > :17:11.16, 17, a lot of time to be made as he switches blades. Over to the

:17:12. > :17:16.left-hand side for 17. Cuts it as fine as is possible. A really great

:17:17. > :17:22.turn. Back into the flow now. Watch the split time. It is still possible

:17:23. > :17:27.but he needs to be clean, a bit of magic through 18 and 1. A spin won't

:17:28. > :17:33.have cost him too much time. A win is still on. He has to stay strong

:17:34. > :17:38.for the final upstream. Tight in on gate 22. Two gates to go. All about

:17:39. > :17:43.finding the flow. Making sure he keeps that boat flowing through the

:17:44. > :17:57.last two downstream gates. Slightly messy through 24. . 1108.82. A

:17:58. > :18:00.Silver Medal for Lefevre. Half a second outside with six gates to go.

:18:01. > :18:07.The Americans will be delighted with that. They welcomed him into the

:18:08. > :18:13.team with open arms. He's rewarded them. We are getting interesting

:18:14. > :18:16.news through. As is the case with slalom kayaking, there are always

:18:17. > :18:26.video reviews after the race if someone feels a penalty is not

:18:27. > :18:31.right. Lvre put in a protest. It has been upheld. Instead of losing the

:18:32. > :18:36.gold medal by.2 of a second. He gets the gold medal by 1.8 seconds to

:18:37. > :18:48.become the only man to win a K1 world title and a C1 world titling.

:18:49. > :19:05.The results of men's C1, fabben Lefevre.

:19:06. > :19:11.A fantastic achievement to make the final. You made the most of that

:19:12. > :19:15.opportunity? Definitely. First senior final. Really happy to be in

:19:16. > :19:22.that. Clean run in the final as well. Your instant reaction when you

:19:23. > :19:26.crossed the line, you weren't punching the air at that point?

:19:27. > :19:31.Wasn't quite as quick as my semi-final run. I was a little

:19:32. > :19:36.disappointed with that. On a really tough course, it is just the clean

:19:37. > :19:42.run. It paid off. There were some rumours swirling about the injury to

:19:43. > :19:46.the rib. What happened there? Well, the last World Cup we had a

:19:47. > :19:56.collision in the team event. I came away with a cracked rib. And they

:19:57. > :19:59.hurt! Oh, yeah. Yeah, I didn't train really properly for the three weeks

:20:00. > :20:02.coming out here. It was very touch and go whether I would be allowed to

:20:03. > :20:10.race out here at all. To come away... Is the rib still giving you

:20:11. > :20:14.pain today? A little bit. But I let the adrenaline take care of it.

:20:15. > :20:21.Fantastic result, especially with the rib. Great to see it. Thank you.

:20:22. > :20:28.Now time for the women's C1 event. Featuring Jasmine Royle and mallry

:20:29. > :20:33.Franklin. Mallory is a world champion from 2013. But this season

:20:34. > :20:39.is not so straightforward. We caught up with her before the event began.

:20:40. > :20:44.Mallory Franklin comes through to take the first con aidsian singles

:20:45. > :20:50.of the season. Two World Cup golds this season. How do you sum up the

:20:51. > :20:54.competitions you've done? My performance has taken a step up.

:20:55. > :21:03.Consistency is lacking. I have my two golds. And my under-23 results.

:21:04. > :21:07.I've got that step better when I get all of my performance to the

:21:08. > :21:12.standard I will be happy. Injuries have been a big part of your season

:21:13. > :21:17.as well as successes? The main one is my back. I was very flexible as a

:21:18. > :21:25.kid now it is painful to lean back on my boat. The day I land I'm

:21:26. > :21:30.having an MRRI scan on my back to see if I've frack furred my spine.

:21:31. > :21:36.The physio as think I have. I can still paddle with the same ability.

:21:37. > :21:42.With a lot of acupuncture and very close to crying, my physio's been

:21:43. > :21:47.good at relaxing the muscle spasm down and allowing me to paddle to

:21:48. > :21:53.the standard I can. Everyone in the C1 looks at

:21:54. > :21:58.Australian's Jess Fox. Jess is a very strong athlete. Her technique

:21:59. > :22:03.is something I will always aim to emulate in some way. She was brought

:22:04. > :22:08.up in pretty much the perfect place. She has two parents who are

:22:09. > :22:12.ridiculously good canoeists and she has Penrith, a really good course.

:22:13. > :22:16.I'd love to be able to paddle to the standard she does consistently.

:22:17. > :22:22.That's the aim. And pass her but she's good at canoeing. The metal

:22:23. > :22:26.from the World Championships at Prague, do they feel a long time ago

:22:27. > :22:32.or is it still a source of inspiration? I was really delighted

:22:33. > :22:39.to get silver but the standard I wassed paddling at then is not how

:22:40. > :22:46.I'm paddling now. What would you say is your barometer for success here?

:22:47. > :22:52.I'd like to be medaling in C1. But I'd be pretty happeny with my racing

:22:53. > :22:56.if I can take from training and what I learn put into my racing. You

:22:57. > :23:01.should feel inspired, much more proud of someone if they've paddled

:23:02. > :23:06.back when they've messed up rather than having a hissy fit and sloth

:23:07. > :23:11.down the rest of the course. I want people to look up to as someone they

:23:12. > :23:16.want to be like in their attitude. Out of this race, as long as I can

:23:17. > :23:18.do my best, as long as I give my best, then I'll be pretty happy no

:23:19. > :23:32.matter what the result is. With started off with Jasmine Royle.

:23:33. > :23:37.Having thought she was out of the game, gets the callup for the final

:23:38. > :23:42.after the video analysis revealing that the Brazilian had missed a

:23:43. > :23:47.gate. A little unlucky for her. It was gate number 24. She will be

:23:48. > :23:53.furious with herself. Maybe a slight lack of concentration. There's a big

:23:54. > :23:57.clunk on gate 5 from Royle. Frustrating to take such a big hit

:23:58. > :24:01.early on in the course. But it gives you a chance to pull back that time

:24:02. > :24:07.you've lost with that penalty. A quick switch to get on her strong

:24:08. > :24:18.side between 8 and 9. Getting #4e8ed slightly. A drive across that water

:24:19. > :24:22.into the Eddie line. A product of Stone canoe and kayak club. A club,

:24:23. > :24:28.possibly the most successful club in the UK.

:24:29. > :24:31.possibly the most successful club in to their name. I'm sure a lot coming

:24:32. > :24:37.from Richard Fox. 37 national titles. They go

:24:38. > :24:40.from Richard Fox. 37 national some fantastic pad letters. As you

:24:41. > :24:42.mentioned earlier, Helen, a lot's to do with the waters surrounding them.

:24:43. > :24:45.Not necessarily their do with the waters surrounding them.

:24:46. > :24:50.ground but the access they have to the north and Wales. They have a lot

:24:51. > :24:53.of access. They are very close to Home Peer

:24:54. > :25:00.of access. They are very close to have a good club structure. Coaches

:25:01. > :25:07.in place. People are very enthusiastic. They have a focus on

:25:08. > :25:15.canoe slalom. Only 42 penalties so far. She picked up penalties on 16,

:25:16. > :25:22.17, 18 and 20 in her semi-final. Only two so far. An improved time, I

:25:23. > :25:26.dare say. Through 18 are 19, another couple of seconds. Many pad letters

:25:27. > :25:30.have gone for a wide spin on that gate and thrown away more than two

:25:31. > :25:36.seconds. That might have been the quick option. She's on a composed

:25:37. > :25:40.run. A great improvement from the semi-final run on penalties. She

:25:41. > :25:44.needs to keep her head calm and cool as she negotiates the last two gates

:25:45. > :25:49.and gets a drive into that finish line. Quick switch, a little spin

:25:50. > :25:55.caught on the Eddie line. She's heading backs across. I think she

:25:56. > :26:00.thinks she's missed 23. Otherwise there would have been no call for

:26:01. > :26:10.that. Through 24. Now a fast finish. The clock ticking away. 1.57.77.

:26:11. > :26:17.Lays down the mark. Goes into top spot. Avoids the 50.

:26:18. > :26:22.Now, Mallory Franklin of Great Britain. It's a long course. They

:26:23. > :26:26.need to conserve as much energy as they can. Let the water doing the

:26:27. > :26:32.work rather than the water taking over the boat and making them work

:26:33. > :26:38.harder. Mallory has taken a spin at gate 3. She'll pull her line in at

:26:39. > :26:41.gate 8. Nicely there to get the drive across. Getting a little

:26:42. > :26:46.caught there. She pulls the boat round into 9. This is where they

:26:47. > :26:52.need to come out into the flow and let the boat settle on this boily

:26:53. > :26:56.changeable water. She's 1.85 outside. But it is the second half

:26:57. > :27:01.of the course where the previous pad letters have made all the mistakes.

:27:02. > :27:06.Still plenty of opportunity to get a lead in this race. Franklin, of

:27:07. > :27:11.course, the Silver Medallist in Prague last year. She'd love to go

:27:12. > :27:16.one better. Paddling with a bit of a knee injury having tried something

:27:17. > :27:23.called a human plank. Not sure what that is. She assured us she's OK. It

:27:24. > :27:28.doesn't affect her paddling. She'll check it out once back in the UK.

:27:29. > :27:34.Through 16. Can he she get quickly over 17? Uses the waves well. Good

:27:35. > :27:38.direct line keeping the boat moving at all times. You can see her

:27:39. > :27:44.digging deep through that slacker bit of water setting up for 18, 19.

:27:45. > :27:53.6.8 on the split up. There's plenty of time to be lost. Two second

:27:54. > :28:00.penalty as she took the spin. Still with an advantage. 157.77 is the

:28:01. > :28:08.leading time. Surely she needs to be around 135. There's another

:28:09. > :28:10.unnecessary penalty for Franklin. Another two seconds added which

:28:11. > :28:15.could make all the difference when it comes to the final placings.

:28:16. > :28:21.Driving for that final 10, 15 metres. 20 seconds inside but those

:28:22. > :28:27.six penalties could prove very, very expensive come the end of the day.

:28:28. > :28:31.Silver Medal last time remember. Here's someone who can certainly

:28:32. > :28:42.push it and pick the lines she wants. It is Hoskva from the Czech

:28:43. > :28:48.Republic. She took the last part of the course very easily. First big

:28:49. > :28:52.mistake. Drops very low on nine. She brings herself back up to that

:28:53. > :29:01.upstream gate. Through 10. Watch out for the slit. 50.71. .9 inside. Good

:29:02. > :29:08.start from Hoskva. Did You want to see her lift that bow over the Eddie

:29:09. > :29:12.line. Back into the flow through 13 before she heads down to the Savage

:29:13. > :29:17.Falls. We see her lining her boat up waiting to get that move as tight as

:29:18. > :29:23.she can through 14. Losing some height there. One, two, three

:29:24. > :29:28.strokes up. Now get on to the wave. Will she go for a spin and a quick

:29:29. > :29:33.switch. Catch the wave back across to 16. Crucially, Helen, no

:29:34. > :29:37.penalties so far. That will make the difference between herself and

:29:38. > :29:42.Franklin. She's dropped low on just about every upstream gate. Not the

:29:43. > :29:50.perfect run from Hoskva. Still may be enough to take the lead. She's

:29:51. > :29:54.dropped outside. 3.07 for Hoskva. This is where Franklin started to

:29:55. > :30:00.make mistakes. There's a two second penalty. Some relief for the Britain

:30:01. > :30:06.watching on. You can see the tiredness creeping in. She looks a

:30:07. > :30:09.little weary. Taking her time guiding the boat through 21.

:30:10. > :30:16.Flicking the nose around. Tight into 22. Very nicely done. 13 8.78 is the

:30:17. > :30:21.leading time. It could still be close. She was three seconds outside

:30:22. > :30:25.the fastest time after the last split. That leading time is gone.

:30:26. > :30:36.The best she can do is second place at the moment. Just squeezes in. Now

:30:37. > :30:46.for the last of the French competitors. Nicely through gate

:30:47. > :30:51.date. We want to see her drive nicely through into gate nine.

:30:52. > :30:55.Nicely executed. There is the first penalty on gate nine. Gate 17 was

:30:56. > :31:04.the one that gave her the problem in the semifinal run. Looking smooth

:31:05. > :31:08.though, keeping it running. A little spin at gate 12 but looking where

:31:09. > :31:13.she was going at all times to make sure she didn't pick up any

:31:14. > :31:17.unnecessary touches. Still the fastest time down the chute and she

:31:18. > :31:29.is pretty much in line with the best so far. Just catching the wave here

:31:30. > :31:34.and getting the driver cost the 16. We want to see as high a line as we

:31:35. > :31:44.can into 17. Slightly lower than she would have chosen to be. We will get

:31:45. > :31:50.another split, 98 .84, and she is just inside, .2 seconds inside.

:31:51. > :31:56.Malorie Franklin remember picking up six. There is another to second

:31:57. > :31:59.penalty. She needs to stay clean if she wants to challenge the leading

:32:00. > :32:04.time and move into that the gold medal position. One more upstream to

:32:05. > :32:07.go, tries to cut its tight and then changes her mind because she was

:32:08. > :32:16.just a little bit too tight. Back into the flow now, one minute 3878

:32:17. > :32:25.is the time dash 1.38.78 is the time. It will be desperately close.

:32:26. > :32:28.The position is changing all the way down the course and once again,

:32:29. > :32:33.fatigue making the difference over those last four gates. Really trying

:32:34. > :32:37.to drive the boat down, trying to keep the boat on track, but at the

:32:38. > :32:43.same time the nose is getting caught by the eddies. Tough on the last few

:32:44. > :32:49.gates and the face of Malorie there, there it goes, another one in behind

:32:50. > :32:53.me. Deep breaths. Two to go. I wonder whether she thought she would

:32:54. > :32:57.be in this position. It does mean that Malorie Franklin is guaranteed

:32:58. > :33:09.a medal here in deep Creek because with only Jessica Fox to go, she can

:33:10. > :33:13.finish no worse than third. This is one of the paddlers who can

:33:14. > :33:20.certainly cope with a course of this quality, this sort of technical

:33:21. > :33:25.difficulty. Frantic strokes there through gate nine, making sure she

:33:26. > :33:30.keeps her boat on track. She knows that she hasn't got time to play

:33:31. > :33:36.with. But on the split, 2.81 seconds up. We said she had class and style,

:33:37. > :33:41.and when she is on her day she can win by seconds. So, what can she do?

:33:42. > :33:47.She has done it all in the past of course, there are not many people

:33:48. > :33:50.who have both parents who are world champions, multiple world champions.

:33:51. > :33:56.Richard Fox will no doubt be watching on proudly. The switch

:33:57. > :34:03.needs to be quick and it's a lot quicker than we saw from Rebours.

:34:04. > :34:08.Gets herself online for 16 and 17. So many have dropped low on 17. She

:34:09. > :34:11.is having to work desperately hard to get back through 17 and that

:34:12. > :34:16.could be crucial but the lead was fairly substantial going through the

:34:17. > :34:22.halfway stage. Watch are going down through the sweet spot. 18... 19...

:34:23. > :34:29.Will she take a hit like so many? Yes. That is the second. Four

:34:30. > :34:38.seconds added to the time. Is it going to survive? We will find out

:34:39. > :34:43.very, very shortly. 18, 19, coming around the last of the streams. She

:34:44. > :34:48.wants to find that last wave, that push across to gate 24 and this is

:34:49. > :34:52.the final drive. Great boat speed coming through 24, accelerates onto

:34:53. > :34:56.the last drop and takes a comfortable lead in the end Jessica

:34:57. > :35:02.Fox, into the gold medal position with just one paddle remaining. An

:35:03. > :35:07.excellent run, not faultless but a nice combination of caution and

:35:08. > :35:10.aggression. She looked smooth, took an early touch on gate three and

:35:11. > :35:14.then one later on but she was in control. Not an ideal one, getting

:35:15. > :35:18.stuck backwards, but she has got class, she has got style, she knows

:35:19. > :35:26.the lines and when she gets the right she is that much quicker.

:35:27. > :35:37.Franklin pushed down now into these all the medal position. Vilarrubla

:35:38. > :35:40.is the only person who can decide her position now. She picked up for

:35:41. > :35:47.seconds on her semifinal run. The first of those came at gate 11. Gate

:35:48. > :35:54.nine has produced a lot of problems and she is way down but it is a fast

:35:55. > :35:57.Eddy. Good recovery. Now it is all about maintaining the rhythm.

:35:58. > :36:03.Catching her edge, upside down, she has to get back across the river

:36:04. > :36:09.now. Gate 11, she is 4.8 down on the split. She needs to gain her

:36:10. > :36:13.composure. 4.88 is still silver medal position if she can hold that

:36:14. > :36:17.margin, but Jessica Fox was supreme on the bottom half of the course.

:36:18. > :36:21.Perhaps the only one who has stayed strong all the way through. Some

:36:22. > :36:25.five, six, seven seconds down on the best time down the drop. It's not

:36:26. > :36:32.looking too good for the Spanish at the moment. From Vilarrubla, who was

:36:33. > :36:36.so good on her home river, finishing second in the World Cup there.

:36:37. > :36:42.Jessica Fox the winner on that occasion. A second capsize and it is

:36:43. > :36:46.game over, it is game over for Vilarrubla and Jessica Fox can start

:36:47. > :36:52.the celebrations, she is the sea OneWorld champion for 2014 and I

:36:53. > :36:58.think know he would take that away from her. If she hasn't won it is

:36:59. > :37:04.because she has just missed the gate and missed it by millimetres. She is

:37:05. > :37:06.a fantastic paddler. She is dominating the class, taking it out

:37:07. > :37:08.from the beginning and she just seems to get better and better each

:37:09. > :37:20.season. This is a tough as can now with two

:37:21. > :37:24.roles, to capsizes, a number of penalties, it's all about getting

:37:25. > :37:36.yourself down the rest of this course. She must be exhausted.

:37:37. > :37:49.Anything under 166 will keep her off 10th position. Oh, how frustrating,

:37:50. > :37:54.how frustrating. I thought she was in tears for a moment but that is a

:37:55. > :37:57.brave smile from Vilarrubla who produced the fastest semifinal time

:37:58. > :38:01.which can only boost your confidence. But maybe the pressure

:38:02. > :38:06.and nerves at the top getting the better of her. To capsizes. The last

:38:07. > :38:09.time that happened, I'm not sure it ever will to her at this level of

:38:10. > :38:13.competition. Extraordinary things. There is your winner. The world

:38:14. > :38:20.champion, Jessica Fox, the realisation that she is the champion

:38:21. > :38:26.for 2014. So, Jessica Fox retains her world title with an impressive

:38:27. > :38:31.run, four penalties but still five... Six seconds quicker than

:38:32. > :38:35.anybody else. It's a big percentage. Franklin, Silver again here. A

:38:36. > :38:40.silver last year and another one to go with it, very good consistency?

:38:41. > :38:44.Yes, and with Jazz ahead of me it's pretty consistent within the class.

:38:45. > :38:47.It was a good run and I'm happy with it. You seem to have some difficulty

:38:48. > :38:53.at the top and then got quicker and quicker as it went down the run.

:38:54. > :38:58.Yes, I wasn't great at gate three but after that it got better and

:38:59. > :39:03.quicker, through what they are calling savage falls, 15 and 16 was

:39:04. > :39:09.probably my strongest area. That then brought me to doing well. And a

:39:10. > :39:14.very long, nervous wait, seeing other competitors come down. That is

:39:15. > :39:17.never easy? Definitely not fun, especially being down on the top

:39:18. > :39:21.split because I didn't do well at the top but knowing I had that area

:39:22. > :39:26.in the middle where I could pick up time, it was so no bragging. Jess is

:39:27. > :39:31.a good friend as well as a competitor, does that make it more

:39:32. > :39:35.complicated? In some respects at the moment I sort of expected. She is

:39:36. > :39:39.very quick in both kayak and this class. She is a good friend and we

:39:40. > :39:44.get on quite well but it is something I expect. It is not so

:39:45. > :39:48.much of a hit. Next year championships on how water, will it

:39:49. > :39:51.be different? Hopefully, I hope for it be different. I am going

:39:52. > :39:54.part-time on my uni course and so I can spend even more time training.

:39:55. > :40:00.Hopefully next year I can come back with a slightly higher medal.

:40:01. > :40:04.Jessica, how was your final run? It was a really good run and then I

:40:05. > :40:08.just messed up at the last minute and had the power back for the

:40:09. > :40:12.second to last gate. I'm really pleased with my paddling today.

:40:13. > :40:19.First senior worlds, finishing seventh, that's not too shabby. I'm

:40:20. > :40:22.very pleased with that. Studio Mac she is really making her mark on

:40:23. > :40:26.this category, getting medals more often than not. It will be very

:40:27. > :40:31.interesting to see how it all developed so the next few years. If

:40:32. > :40:35.you have been inspired by Mallory's medal performance to try your hand

:40:36. > :40:41.at canoeing you can go to the get inspired website at the address

:40:42. > :40:50.below. Now, it is time for the men's event. I will hand you back to your

:40:51. > :40:56.commentators, Alan and Patrick. -- Helen.

:40:57. > :41:07.COMMENTATOR: We now move onto K-1. He is back in action. To complete

:41:08. > :41:19.into disciplines. --, Pete the knows exactly where to make the

:41:20. > :41:27.turns. Ellen, what about switching from kneeling to sitting? The kayak

:41:28. > :41:31.has discipline, this discipline is so different. Remember he has done

:41:32. > :41:36.two more runs than anybody else in this final today so it will be very

:41:37. > :41:43.interesting to see how much this fatigue takes on for him. Well, the

:41:44. > :41:56.early runners in both finals so far have done pretty well. Brooklyn was

:41:57. > :42:00.third down in the although the best effectively go last, at this level

:42:01. > :42:08.of competition, anyone in the final can win it. Finding himself off the

:42:09. > :42:12.line so, Lefevre. Taking that penalty at gate 16 and going wide as

:42:13. > :42:17.he drove into 17. That will be costly to him. He has two nails this

:42:18. > :42:26.move. Kvitova heavy hits there through 19. Pushes it on hard,

:42:27. > :42:30.setting it up for 20. -- a bit of a heavy hit there. Going into gate 16.

:42:31. > :42:38.Sorry, not 16. We better not count our chickens, there could be a

:42:39. > :42:48.protest going in. But I think that is unlikely. It is not going to be a

:42:49. > :42:54.famous double. He says where? We will find out, I think it is gate

:42:55. > :42:58.19, which is the offset gate. It's interesting, I think he will put a

:42:59. > :43:02.protest and for that but they will say the poll went across the back of

:43:03. > :43:08.his head so he didn't get the whole of his head in the gate. Next ago,

:43:09. > :43:13.missing the first three World Cups, the French sharing their allocations

:43:14. > :43:19.at the World Cup this year to give as many of their paddlers as

:43:20. > :43:27.experience -- of their paddlers and experience. He flies into five,

:43:28. > :43:32.flies out of five. This is an impressive start. What will be

:43:33. > :43:37.initial split be like? We will find out very shortly. No mistakes so far

:43:38. > :43:42.as far as I can see. Now, very dynamic paddler, very tight in and

:43:43. > :43:47.around gate nine. Finding his rhythm here. He needs to open up. He is

:43:48. > :43:51.2.38 ab on the split. He needs to get in and out of date 12 as quickly

:43:52. > :43:56.as possible. Dynamic turn there, right around the polls. Shortest

:43:57. > :44:01.line possible, really good shoulder drop on 12 and 13. Now 1456 was the

:44:02. > :44:06.time. He is ball seconds inside, building all the time, but he can

:44:07. > :44:10.throw it away with one mistake. Negotiates 15 well, across the 16,

:44:11. > :44:15.does he get a kick across to 17? It will help. Not bad, not the quickest

:44:16. > :44:20.but not bad. Now needs to get back into the flow quickly. 17 gate is

:44:21. > :44:26.negotiated. 24 in all. These next two could be the decider, as to

:44:27. > :44:30.whether he takes medals. Brilliant, absolutely superb air. Drops down

:44:31. > :44:39.into the sweet spot and takes it dairy sweet indeed. Now under threat

:44:40. > :44:45.as he goes around 22. He could still be on target for the leading time.

:44:46. > :44:50.Remember, last gate gone, onto the driver home. It will be close but

:44:51. > :44:54.and he is 1.89 seconds inside had he not had that penalty I think that

:44:55. > :44:59.Sebastien Combot could well have been in the gold medal position. He

:45:00. > :45:02.will have to wait and see, but what a run. He attacked it from gate

:45:03. > :45:07.number one and stayed strong right the way through. A brilliant

:45:08. > :45:13.performance from the French and they have another paddler still to go.

:45:14. > :45:16.Superb run, fast-paced, dynamic, keeping his boat rhythm all the

:45:17. > :45:20.time. This is the only bit I think where he lost a fraction of time,

:45:21. > :45:24.didn't get the water quite, very changeable around 16 and 17 and you

:45:25. > :45:25.have to do the best with what you have in front of you. He did a very

:45:26. > :45:44.good job of that. Biazzizot, not a busy season for him

:45:45. > :45:49.but he has come good at the right time. There is his first mistake at

:45:50. > :45:52.number five. Just send his nose up a bit too high that seemed to be back

:45:53. > :45:56.on track now, tight around gate number eight, nicely done, getting

:45:57. > :45:59.the drive across, he needs to push across that Eddie line, finding

:46:00. > :46:04.himself above it to hide. That is not what he wants to be doing. A

:46:05. > :46:11.slow move. Quick thinking though, quick thinking to correct. Every

:46:12. > :46:14.makes mistakes in this game. Absolutely. He hasn't got any

:46:15. > :46:19.penalties as of yet. There is no man yet to go down this course clean. He

:46:20. > :46:25.can still be in touch. 52 is the time going through. He is now three

:46:26. > :46:31.seconds adrift of the fastest time, Combot. The current leader picked up

:46:32. > :46:34.to later on in so the opportunity is still there but it needs to be

:46:35. > :46:40.perfect, from 17 all the way through to 24 and there is the first really

:46:41. > :46:45.good turn. Turn. Superb. Really tight in there, little bit high. He

:46:46. > :46:48.is going to set up this line to be dynamic and fast, quick through 19,

:46:49. > :46:54.dipped his head through it and then gets a straight line out. The combo

:46:55. > :47:00.was superb to that section -- Combot was superb to that section. Three

:47:01. > :47:08.Frenchmen qualifying for this final. Superb performance from them.

:47:09. > :47:16.Now, down through 23, 24, it is going to be close again, but just

:47:17. > :47:19.outside. .85 of a second. Wow, there is no doubt that Combot would have

:47:20. > :47:22.been watching with one night only I think with that performance. The

:47:23. > :47:26.mood has changed at the top of the course and instead of everyone

:47:27. > :47:30.having the course dominates their performance, they are starting to

:47:31. > :47:44.attack it and dominate the water. That is just what we needed to see.

:47:45. > :47:50.Boris took a silver back in 2009. He got a silver in the World

:47:51. > :47:54.Championship that year as well. He has shown some good form early in

:47:55. > :47:59.the season on a very different river in SF. 60 cubic metres per second

:48:00. > :48:09.piling down this deep Creek. -- in this is some three cubic metres

:48:10. > :48:15.bigger than the Lee Valley course. Yes, big, wide, lots of flow down it

:48:16. > :48:19.and very changeable water. He is 1.36 up. He is looking smooth, maybe

:48:20. > :48:24.his temper doesn't look quite as high but that's the thing. All

:48:25. > :48:28.paddlers have their own unique style and he has his own style. I would

:48:29. > :48:34.say now he has given away at least upper second there. Pity to was the

:48:35. > :48:39.unofficial split. He is about half a second down, so I think you are spot

:48:40. > :48:44.on, as he works through 15 and 16. This is such a crucial day. Not so

:48:45. > :48:48.many penalties picked up but the difference in time taken from 16 to

:48:49. > :48:52.17 absolutely huge. That is good work from Horace, trying to get to

:48:53. > :48:55.Frenchmen onto the podium. In fact it would be one, trying to get to

:48:56. > :48:58.Frenchmen onto the podium. In fact it would be one, two, three if he

:48:59. > :49:01.could go up to the front. The way things are going it could well

:49:02. > :49:04.happen. Cleanly through 18 and 19, not the quickest but it is clean and

:49:05. > :49:07.he hasn't lost too much time. For gate to go now to join his

:49:08. > :49:13.team-mates at the top of the podium. Will the French get a clean sweep

:49:14. > :49:16.here as deep Creek? He has the pickers like Catalina, just driving

:49:17. > :49:25.those blades all the way to the finish line down here. He's inside,

:49:26. > :49:29.he is inside. It looked very controlled at the top of the

:49:30. > :49:36.course, not as attacking as we saw from Combot but Boris Neveu has

:49:37. > :49:44.taken the lead. And there we have it. France, one, two, three. That

:49:45. > :49:53.winning time, he will lie in bed tonight ruing that penalty that has

:49:54. > :49:56.cost him the gold. They will be thrilled by have managed the clean

:49:57. > :50:03.sweep. Now it is time for the women's K-1. She will go off first,

:50:04. > :50:12.but before we see her run, we caught up with the other British paddler in

:50:13. > :50:15.this final, Fiona Penney. Following you on Twitter this summer, there

:50:16. > :50:19.have been some ups and downs. The results have been brilliant, have

:50:20. > :50:22.they? Killer Mac sure, that was definitely one of my comments this

:50:23. > :50:28.summer. Another race, another disappointment. The Europeans were

:50:29. > :50:34.OK. I did well in the early stages and then won the finals and the

:50:35. > :50:41.semifinals. I hit a gate two seconds out, I ended up fifth, and then the

:50:42. > :50:44.following World Cup tear at Lee Valley, unfortunately I made a few

:50:45. > :50:49.too many errors and found myself not in the final. Has that been

:50:50. > :50:53.frustrating and tough to keep your morale? It has been frustrating. I

:50:54. > :50:57.have made so many games this year technically on the water and I know

:50:58. > :51:02.I am technically fast enough. It is just putting it together on the

:51:03. > :51:05.name, being clean and fast. How much do you guys learn off each other and

:51:06. > :51:12.interact with each other and coach each other? We train with different

:51:13. > :51:15.training groups and obviously our various coaches. I train with Tom

:51:16. > :51:20.Brady and Joe Clark and that's great for me because I am trying with two

:51:21. > :51:23.wonderful men. They are deemed to be the blue-ribbon event and they are

:51:24. > :51:25.the fastest on the water so for me to be able to learn from them

:51:26. > :51:30.technically are just perfect for my training and I'm always pushing

:51:31. > :51:35.myself to get as close to them as possible timewise. If I spoke to

:51:36. > :51:39.your coach what would he say your attributes? If you'd spoke anybody

:51:40. > :51:43.in canoe slalom they would probably say I was one of the strongest in

:51:44. > :51:49.the world. With that comes the speed. Technically over the last few

:51:50. > :51:52.years I've made significant gains. I probably wasn't so good before but

:51:53. > :51:59.with better watch what technique I'm becoming more consistent. What do

:52:00. > :52:03.you expect from the World Championship is? Killer Mac we have

:52:04. > :52:07.trained there in July for two weeks already. I've learned a lot from the

:52:08. > :52:10.white water there. It is different to most courses. Certainly you need

:52:11. > :52:13.to paste the course well when you are going on a full rundown of

:52:14. > :52:17.course, the bottom is quite hard work on the arms and my plan will be

:52:18. > :52:21.to keep it clean, make sure I go around the polls, don't hit them and

:52:22. > :52:26.go fast with that. That sounds like quite a simple plan. It sounds

:52:27. > :52:35.simple but let's hope it won't be simple on the day.

:52:36. > :52:47.So, Beth and Latham will be the first down. She is 33 in the World

:52:48. > :52:51.Cup rankings this year. She has the opportunity to do the same here. --

:52:52. > :52:55.Bethan Latham. The fact she is going first shouldn't dissuade you from

:52:56. > :52:57.the fact that she has a chance of taking a medal. I wonder how she

:52:58. > :53:03.will take the course. Not the best of starts. Hasn't quite found her

:53:04. > :53:07.with yet. Between two and three. But there is plenty of time to get back

:53:08. > :53:10.into this run. A number of difficult sections. First one coming up in a

:53:11. > :53:14.minute, over eight and nine although she has just picked up a penalty

:53:15. > :53:17.point already, clipping it on the exit and now she needs to free

:53:18. > :53:22.focus, make sure she stays clear and out on these polls and keep the line

:53:23. > :53:24.as direct as possible. To successive up streams at a penalty point

:53:25. > :53:27.already, clipping it on the exit and now she needs to free focus, make

:53:28. > :53:30.sure she stays clear and out on these polls and keep the line as

:53:31. > :53:32.direct as possible. To successive up streams at eight and nine have

:53:33. > :53:35.caused problems. Just getting inside that. The judges will have a close

:53:36. > :53:38.look at that and Bethan Latham, what do you feel? A penalty, I saw the

:53:39. > :53:41.judge's can go up. That is it, game over really. Once you have a 52nd

:53:42. > :53:45.penalty added to your time there is really no coming back from that.

:53:46. > :53:49.They may put out a protest but it definitely looked very questionable.

:53:50. > :53:53.There is the pool above the savage falls. You have to have the right

:53:54. > :53:58.lines are there. Nicely onto 14, which is where she got a penalty in

:53:59. > :54:04.the semifinal. And now, that spin, back through 15. This is the

:54:05. > :54:09.difficult combination. Lots of penalties, lots of time lost in all

:54:10. > :54:13.disciplines here. A bit of a loopy line into 17, we saw the bowel

:54:14. > :54:18.heading a lot of the time across the river. That's what we want to see,

:54:19. > :54:24.taking buried lines from one day to another. 18 and 19 have proven to be

:54:25. > :54:26.very tricky for people and she is now finding it difficult to go

:54:27. > :54:31.around the bottom of the poll. Didn't quite make it around the top.

:54:32. > :54:34.That is an interesting... You could see the mind working almost there

:54:35. > :54:37.when she realised there was no way she would be able to go back up into

:54:38. > :54:42.the stopper and then get back through the normal way. But she

:54:43. > :54:49.sought well on her feet and away we go. Last two gates to go, it will

:54:50. > :54:52.not be a medal winning run from Bethan Latham but it shows you the

:54:53. > :54:59.problem is that the athletes have out there. And it is no different

:55:00. > :55:02.for anyone else still to come. 179.88, disappointing but she will

:55:03. > :55:07.be delighted she made it through to the last ten. Yes, that's fantastic,

:55:08. > :55:14.to make her first world champion Jim final. She did make her final, but

:55:15. > :55:17.that is where she met at penalty. You have to make sure your whole

:55:18. > :55:25.head, your whole body is inside the polls and on that occasion it looked

:55:26. > :55:28.like heads did make it. Next down, little bit inconsistent this year,

:55:29. > :55:34.got a really good run and finished in fifth place and then eighth in

:55:35. > :55:41.the World Cup finals. That gave her a confidence boost. Looked a little

:55:42. > :55:45.bit slow on the exit of five but she has hit the right line that she

:55:46. > :55:51.wanted, a good line into eight. You can see that bit of flow in the

:55:52. > :55:55.Eddie line, a bit above number nine. This is very oily, they have to be

:55:56. > :55:59.patient to see what happens with the vote, let the boat release and then

:56:00. > :56:14.they can drive forward -- boiling water. Onto the savage falls for 14,

:56:15. > :56:22.which is OK. Then it is this tricky surf across the ways to reach 15. An

:56:23. > :56:25.early spin. Just waiting a bit better make sure she could get the

:56:26. > :56:29.release from the tail before she put the power in to get back across 16

:56:30. > :56:33.and now dropping a little bit low as we see her draw the boat in with the

:56:34. > :56:37.bow rudder. This is the tricky bit. They come out into the flow and this

:56:38. > :56:41.is where they set up that difficult 18-19. 19 is a split gate and it's

:56:42. > :56:45.very tight on the back of the stopper. Picking her line, little

:56:46. > :56:53.reverse stroke there, nicely done by Melanie. Very good there, but that

:56:54. > :56:57.has all paid off. Only four of the women in the final went clear in the

:56:58. > :57:01.semifinals. She spins around, 22, now she is back into the flow and

:57:02. > :57:07.there is still time to be gained if you can get the perfect wine and 24.

:57:08. > :57:10.As to put the brakes. I will cost her fractions of a second that could

:57:11. > :57:19.make all the difference come the end of the day. The new lead time

:57:20. > :57:25.120.01. Alongside -- a long way inside Latham's time. Good solid

:57:26. > :57:34.performance for the German. Yes, put in a good tight time for people to

:57:35. > :57:39.beat. Well, Fiona Pennie now. Will she be able to add to her medal

:57:40. > :57:43.haul? The silver medallist from 2006, 31 years old from Crieff. She

:57:44. > :57:48.will have done her early days of paddling on Scottish rivers, the

:57:49. > :57:55.take, the Alan, the Lenny and indeed the lion not far from where she used

:57:56. > :58:00.to live. A good start from Pennie here. Around gate eight, not giving

:58:01. > :58:04.anything, just pulling herself in. Tight around Gates nine. She was

:58:05. > :58:09.very quick on the top section in her first run. -- around 89. 4.2 up on

:58:10. > :58:20.the split so it is looking good again. -- around gate nine. Lost

:58:21. > :58:25.some time on her semi final run. This is her coming down to savage

:58:26. > :58:31.falls, what a nice line, steering it in. Looking for the surf, she will

:58:32. > :58:40.start spotting the spin. And a lovely spin. Looking very controlled

:58:41. > :58:44.at the moment. Just dropping a little low maybe. A little slow to

:58:45. > :58:48.17 but the water seems to have changed completely from the previous

:58:49. > :58:52.two runs. Now, this is where she has to get it right, goes wide into 18,

:58:53. > :58:58.needs to make sure she gets far enough across and she is through.

:58:59. > :59:02.Great, great negotiation there. Now onto 20 through the 24. Still

:59:03. > :59:09.mistakes can be made. Watch the Tyne as she goes to the final upstream.

:59:10. > :59:12.This is looking good, Helen. Yes, five seconds up on that previous

:59:13. > :59:17.split and she hasn't given away any time yet. Looking for the nice sweet

:59:18. > :59:21.spot between 23 and 24. Just this final push to the line. That is the

:59:22. > :59:28.fastest time in the semifinals and she is well inside out! 114.97 and

:59:29. > :59:32.crucially no penalties. She goes into the lead and sets a really,

:59:33. > :59:37.really tough test for those still to come. Yes, fantastic display of

:59:38. > :59:41.slalom canoeing there. You can see her coming down to the river to give

:59:42. > :59:44.her a congratulatory handshake. She will be absolutely delighted with

:59:45. > :59:51.that. She didn't give away anything. If you think about first runs, 1.18

:59:52. > :59:54..34 that was the quickest. She has set a time to the rest of the

:59:55. > :59:59.competitors to have to really fight to come and get.

:00:00. > :00:12.Fantastic news for the British team. They need a bit. Ricard Funk. A

:00:13. > :00:17.little wide into 5. She accelerates the boat beautifully through the

:00:18. > :00:22.water. Down towards 7 and 8 on the left-hand side. Second of the

:00:23. > :00:26.upstream gates. Sweet around gate 8. A quick push in. She's finding

:00:27. > :00:32.herself being dragged in a bit tight. Tail getting caught in the

:00:33. > :00:41.flow. Losing a fraction of time. Let the boat settle. Then drive down.

:00:42. > :00:51.3.46 outside Fiona Pennie's time. Clipped the pole. Two seconds added.

:00:52. > :00:57.Now four seconds of penalties. Fiona Pennie on 60 seconds on gate 14.

:00:58. > :01:06.That 3.5 second margin's grown substantially. Ricard unlikely to

:01:07. > :01:11.record the best run of her season. Losing more time at 15. Slipping off

:01:12. > :01:17.a little bit there. Tight into 17. She has got far too much work to do

:01:18. > :01:27.to be challenging that time of Fiona Pennie's. Set up above 19. Little

:01:28. > :01:55.flick on the back. Touched 19. Top pole. There's no way Ricard Funk

:01:56. > :02:00.will threaten now. Nelani fiver second. Six seconds of penalties.

:02:01. > :02:06.Even with a clear run she would have been a long way adrift of Pennie. I

:02:07. > :02:14.hope that's an indication of how good Pennie's run was. She did take

:02:15. > :02:22.the medal in 1996 6. Eight years later, she could be on the verge of

:02:23. > :02:27.something very special. Hilgertova, been around forever. She was here 25

:02:28. > :02:32.years ago when the World Championships were last held in the

:02:33. > :02:41.US. Racing on the Savage River just down the road from here. We're

:02:42. > :02:47.already finding her 2.47 down. As she's got older whether she has that

:02:48. > :02:51.same power and endurance as some of the younger athletes have towards

:02:52. > :02:58.the bottom of the course. This is an extremely long course. Hilgertova is

:02:59. > :03:03.at least three seconds down at the moment. She's a wonderful paddler.

:03:04. > :03:07.Brilliantly technical. But a lot of work to do. Getting a bit delayed

:03:08. > :03:13.through 15. Struggling to get the line right for 16. That doesn't bode

:03:14. > :03:19.well for 17. Nice into 17 though. It is all about the drive. 18, 19, very

:03:20. > :03:24.tricky gates. We want to see her set up high above 18. You can see the

:03:25. > :03:30.wind still blowing after that storm. They need to be very precise where

:03:31. > :03:35.they're going. Nice little move to get around the bottom pole at 19.

:03:36. > :03:44.She may be in for a medal post I can. Fox still the really big name

:03:45. > :03:47.left to run on this course. Hilgertova gets high. Another

:03:48. > :03:53.mistake getting held by the stopper just a fraction. She can ill afford

:03:54. > :03:59.that but no penalties incurred. That could be key to the success. She's

:04:00. > :04:03.trying to take medals at 47 years of age. She goes into the Bronze Medal

:04:04. > :04:09.position. She's frustrated with that. She's given the remaining

:04:10. > :04:13.paddlers a opportunity to take that away from her. There's Fiona

:04:14. > :04:23.sitting, waiting. If the next paddler doesn't beat her time she

:04:24. > :04:28.knows she will be on the podium. Jasmine Schornberg. Didn't pick up

:04:29. > :04:33.any penalties at all. Bronze Medal in Prague last year. She's been here

:04:34. > :04:39.before. That could be useful. A smooth start from her. Need to get

:04:40. > :04:48.out and let the boat balance as she comes through 10. Lost time on

:04:49. > :04:52.Pennie already. Pretty much identical time to Hilgertova at that

:04:53. > :04:58.stage. Just tweaked the boat back into the flow through 13. Now coming

:04:59. > :05:02.to Savage Falls. Needs a nice height and get that suffer across. Slightly

:05:03. > :05:10.lower than she would have hoped. She has to start spotting for the spin.

:05:11. > :05:15.Look where the poles are. Nice spin there from Schornberg. We'll get

:05:16. > :05:21.another split between 17 and 18, before she drops through gate 18.

:05:22. > :05:25.87.70 is the time. More than four seconds outside the field with the

:05:26. > :05:32.delay on that last sequence of gates. Across to 18, needs to get

:05:33. > :05:38.wide. Tries to get across the face of the tongue to get to 19. Valuable

:05:39. > :05:44.seconds ticking a way. She will not take top spot. She will be pressed

:05:45. > :05:51.to make the medals at all. Losing precious time at 19 she couldn't

:05:52. > :05:55.afford. She'll have to nail 22 where we saw Hilgertova lose quite a bit

:05:56. > :06:03.of time. There's a little sweet spot, need to find the drive off the

:06:04. > :06:09.back of the wave and get that push. 124.77 is Hilgertova's time. She's

:06:10. > :06:13.missed that. Outside the top three having finished third in the

:06:14. > :06:18.semi-finals. Frustration, all the emotions coming out. Fiona Pennie is

:06:19. > :06:26.still on top. Jessica fox of Australia. Her mother winning here

:06:27. > :06:29.25 years ago. That would be a nice story. Going last is never nice. But

:06:30. > :06:33.at this level, World Championships, a little bit of history if she can

:06:34. > :06:42.make it in the C1 and K1. She's not letting the pressure affect her.

:06:43. > :06:48.Nice move through the first four gates. Gate 5, she isn't giving away

:06:49. > :06:54.anything at the moment. She needs to get this in and drive around gate 9.

:06:55. > :07:03.Watch the first split coming after 40 seconds. 43.8 was Pennie's time.

:07:04. > :07:07.Fox, 100th of a second outside. She cannot afford a mistake. 60 seconds

:07:08. > :07:16.was Pennie's time remember, through 14. Coming up next. Tight in on 14.

:07:17. > :07:21.Is she going to do it? I think she's spot on. Maybe even a fraction up on

:07:22. > :07:27.Pennie's time. Can't afford to give away any penalties are time. A good

:07:28. > :07:33.spin. Tail down, bow round. Directly driving into 17. This will be tight

:07:34. > :07:40.on Pennie's split. The next split will tell you everything you need 20

:07:41. > :07:46.know. Altogether 82.17. She is a second inside. The C1 world champion

:07:47. > :07:53.is looking to makes it the K1 title as well. 22, remember, is a tricky

:07:54. > :07:59.gate. We saw Hilgertova get caught out with it. Pennie may still be the

:08:00. > :08:06.world champion. Jessica Fox still looking very strong. The time she's

:08:07. > :08:14.after, 114.97. She's inside. She was a second up at 19. She's made it.

:08:15. > :08:18.She has done the double. Jessica Fox of Australia.96 of a second inside.

:08:19. > :08:23.Fiona Pennie, she would have taken silver at the start of the day which

:08:24. > :08:28.is what she did in 2006. But how disappointing to have the last

:08:29. > :08:32.paddler deny you that gold medal. Jess Fox, what a fantastic race.

:08:33. > :08:36.Gold in the C1. Gold in the K1. No-one's done that at the same World

:08:37. > :08:41.Championships. She is in a class of her own. I thought Pennie'sp time

:08:42. > :08:45.was #4r78s unbeatable. She's gone down and nailed it. Took it on.

:08:46. > :08:50.Didn't give away anything. Fought for it all the way down. She knew

:08:51. > :08:56.exactly where she wanted to be. Couldn't put a paddle stroke wrong.

:08:57. > :09:02.Jessica Fox of Australia winning the gold medal ahead of Fiona Pennie

:09:03. > :09:11.from Great Britain. You went very early. Best run of the

:09:12. > :09:15.week comfortably? For sure. I was pretty smooth all the way down. I

:09:16. > :09:19.knew on such a hard course I had to keep it steady and smooth. Keep the

:09:20. > :09:23.boat in the right place. I was just like keep it on line. Came through

:09:24. > :09:27.the finish ecstatic with that. The way they set up the final course,

:09:28. > :09:32.there were really tested gates out there. As each went by, you were

:09:33. > :09:38.doing them brilliantly. In the semi-final I had a different line in

:09:39. > :09:41.19. I went for the spin option. Put everything on it. It came off really

:09:42. > :09:45.well. I was pleased that happened. Then the long wait as competitor

:09:46. > :09:51.after competitor comes down the course behind you. Never easy? For

:09:52. > :09:56.sure. It was a hard wait. A few mistakes and was able to breathe a

:09:57. > :10:01.sigh of relief. Then Jess. She was up for me at the start. I was

:10:02. > :10:06.waiting, watching. In the end, she was just ahead of me. It was all

:10:07. > :10:11.good, though. What about your run in the final? Had a few mistakes. Got a

:10:12. > :10:16.50 second penalty. That was disappointing. Still happy to have

:10:17. > :10:21.made it there in the first place. Looking at the women on the podium.

:10:22. > :10:26.What do you need to work on to get up there? If you compare me to

:10:27. > :10:31.Fiona, there is a difference in by accepts size. I'll be hitting the

:10:32. > :10:39.gym. And working on the technical side. Rep sending Great Britain,

:10:40. > :10:49.Fiona Pennie. CHEERING It's safe to say the men's

:10:50. > :10:58.C2 final isn't what we expected. We've no Dave Florence and Richard

:10:59. > :11:00.Hounslow. British hopes ride with Reece Davis and Matthew Lister. Back

:11:01. > :11:15.over to the commentators. We'll start it off with the form

:11:16. > :11:20.pair. Two men the Skantres who have won three of the five World Cups.

:11:21. > :11:24.Easy winners of the word cup tour this year. Surprising to see them

:11:25. > :11:29.just scraping into the final. Away we go. This is one occasion where

:11:30. > :11:34.you really wouldn't be surprised if the first boat down took the win.

:11:35. > :11:38.But they haven't shown the form they showed mid-season. They didn't look

:11:39. > :11:44.that comfortable on the course in their semi-final run. This is a much

:11:45. > :11:51.better start. They have to make sure they go round these poles a lot

:11:52. > :11:56.cleaner than in the semi-final run. They drop down into gate 8. This is

:11:57. > :12:01.where we see the double up cross the back of the stopper. Getting a good

:12:02. > :12:06.drive into the eddy line and across the flow coming back at them. Tail

:12:07. > :12:13.digs deep. This water's inconsistent. You see them being

:12:14. > :12:20.pushed about quite often. They'll jump into the eddy at gate 12. Den

:12:21. > :12:25.push back out into 13. We'll enter the next section, Savage Falls. An

:12:26. > :12:28.upstream on the right followed by a tricky stagger sequence into an

:12:29. > :12:34.upleft. This is where a lot of time can be lot of. They spot for the

:12:35. > :12:40.spin. Then a quick drop to get the lines where they can between 16 and

:12:41. > :12:44.17. We want the bows as high as possible. Working much better than

:12:45. > :12:50.they were in the semi-finals. Now comes the big test. We'll get a

:12:51. > :12:56.split with the other crews when they go through this stage. 86.99. Nev'

:12:57. > :13:02.decided to drop below. Interesting stuff. Trying for the quick return

:13:03. > :13:07.into the flow. But still, it's got to be slower than the direct line.

:13:08. > :13:15.No red marker. No penalty seconds added so far. Final upstream gate. A

:13:16. > :13:24.lot of movement on the poles. That's not their business. The wind has got

:13:25. > :13:30.stronger and stronger as the day's gone on. The Skantrs will have a

:13:31. > :13:37.time to test the rest of the crews. Will that time be good enough?

:13:38. > :13:41.Seemed quite a conservative and safe run from the Skantres. They wanted

:13:42. > :13:47.to make sure they didn't take up penalty points. They had eight

:13:48. > :13:53.seconds of penalty points in the semi-final. Rhys Davies and Matthew

:13:54. > :13:57.Lister from Great Britain. First down in the semi-final. They had to

:13:58. > :14:01.sit through a full hour to see if they'd done enough to go through.

:14:02. > :14:07.They were more surprised than anyone they made it. They scraped in. Now a

:14:08. > :14:13.real opportunity, the only British boat in this final. They will have

:14:14. > :14:18.heard and maybe seen Fiona Pennie's performance. Maybe that will spur

:14:19. > :14:23.them on to great things. A really solid start from the pairing. Good

:14:24. > :14:27.tight in and around gate 9. Interesting to see where they fare

:14:28. > :14:34.on this split time. Pretty much matching it. .01 down. Nothing in it

:14:35. > :14:41.at this point. A nice drive in on 12. Very well executed. Very

:14:42. > :14:46.composed. Working well together. This will be their top ten

:14:47. > :14:50.performance for 2010. What a moment. What a time to produce your best run

:14:51. > :14:56.of the year. Suffering their way across to 15. There's the little

:14:57. > :15:04.spin. We have the first touch. They could be crucial come the end of the

:15:05. > :15:10.day. Back across to 17. If they take 18, 19 direct, they might have a

:15:11. > :15:15.opportunity to claw back that time on the Skantres. They are still not

:15:16. > :15:21.far outside. They are going the same way they did on the first run,

:15:22. > :15:29.desperately trying not to split the gate. Just clipped the pole. Another

:15:30. > :15:33.penalty. It was a quicker line than the Skantr cousins took. They picked

:15:34. > :15:38.up a penalty. Frustrating. They want a strong finish as they draw the

:15:39. > :15:45.double canoe into the upstream gate. Power their way to the finish. A

:15:46. > :15:53.nice sweet spot between 23 and 24 where you drive the wave. 122.78 has

:15:54. > :15:57.long gone. In a second position. A really good top half to the course.

:15:58. > :16:09.Really good news they made it through to the last ten. They had a

:16:10. > :16:18.crack at it. Just a couple too many mistakes down the bottom of the

:16:19. > :16:24.course. Kaspr and Sindler join us next. Looking a pretty good start so

:16:25. > :16:31.far. Pretty smooth. One second inside for the two cheques. They've

:16:32. > :16:38.had a really solid season. A confidence boosting eighth place in

:16:39. > :16:43.the World Cup Finals. A good nip in and out of the eddy on 12. They'll

:16:44. > :16:48.go for a spin, I imagine, across this wave. Looking for the poles.

:16:49. > :16:53.Making sure they know where they are, they don't want to take any

:16:54. > :16:59.penalty points. Tail round, drive that boat directly. Nice line into

:17:00. > :17:04.17. Keeping good height there. I think the Skantres time is under

:17:05. > :17:10.threat if they stay clean. They go wide. They are going for that direct

:17:11. > :17:18.line. It's paid off so far. No, there's the touch. I think, did they

:17:19. > :17:22.split it? There's a two. Not so bad. They didn't get out of the move as

:17:23. > :17:28.quickly as they would have liked. Maybe not gaining as much of an

:17:29. > :17:37.advantage as they could have done. 122.78 the leading time. Last couple

:17:38. > :17:45.of gates for Kaspr and Sindler. They will take the lead. 118.12. Anyone

:17:46. > :17:48.who goes the long way around now can guarantee to find themselves outside

:17:49. > :17:53.that leading time. It seems to be the quicker option. They picked up a

:17:54. > :17:59.two second penalty. Got a little stuck. But it's the confidence. They

:18:00. > :18:03.took that run on direct. Get stuck and take that penalty. But it is a

:18:04. > :18:11.risk. They are so close already to splitting the gate. Pico and Biso

:18:12. > :18:15.from France, the second of the three French boats. Often good in the

:18:16. > :18:23.semi-finals but let it slip in the final. We'll find out if that is the

:18:24. > :18:28.case today. A fluid start across the top five, six gates. A nice

:18:29. > :18:35.upstream. Number 8. Tight under the poles at 9. Too tight. Taking a

:18:36. > :18:45.touch on the paddle shaft. That penalty, they would have been up

:18:46. > :18:53.without that. 1.79 down. Penalties early on in their semi-final run.

:18:54. > :18:58.Gates 2 and 5. Keeping good height through 14. They will will drive out

:18:59. > :19:02.on to this wave. Take the spin. Spotted where the poles are. Drive

:19:03. > :19:08.across. Get the bow turned down. Directly push it into 17. A good

:19:09. > :19:14.line. Not losing much time there. With the C2, Helen, you've back

:19:15. > :19:19.right paddlers and back left paddlers. The course do what they

:19:20. > :19:22.can to make sure it's fair for both. It is challenging for everybody.

:19:23. > :19:26.Doesn't seem to be making too much difference which is a good thing. I

:19:27. > :19:28.would have said it favoured the back right slightly more than the back

:19:29. > :19:41.left, if anything. Catch the wave. Draw it in. Nice

:19:42. > :19:46.upstream gate there. They want to pick up that little wave between 23

:19:47. > :19:52.and 24. Get the smooth line. This is starting to look good for the French

:19:53. > :19:59.boat. Pico, Biso. They go into second place with a very good

:20:00. > :20:08.recovery lower down despite those two second penalties. The last of

:20:09. > :20:13.the French boats, Claus and Pech. Can they make it two big

:20:14. > :20:18.competitions in a row? This is an afreesive run so far. They've high

:20:19. > :20:23.tempo as a pairing. Quick paddle strokes. Gliding it into gate 8. A

:20:24. > :20:28.little dip. Looking good at the moment. Just pushing out. I think

:20:29. > :20:34.they picked up a two second penalty at gate 8. Clipped it on the exit.

:20:35. > :20:39.That could make all the difference. It does make all the difference.

:20:40. > :20:48.They would have been level with the current leaders. A wider angle than

:20:49. > :20:59.they'd have chosen into gate 12. Got back into their rhythm. They really

:21:00. > :21:05.need pace now. Good suffer out. Spotted where the gates are. The

:21:06. > :21:12.drive across, get the bows down and drive as quickly as possible into

:21:13. > :21:17.17. We're getting news through about the Czech team, Kaspr and Sindler.

:21:18. > :21:22.They've been given a 50 second penalty. If that's confirmed they

:21:23. > :21:27.drop right down the order. At the moment, our computer telling us that

:21:28. > :21:32.Pico and Biso the current leaders from France. Still the French

:21:33. > :21:45.hauling in the medals if that's the way it stays. Let's focus on these

:21:46. > :21:54.two, Klaus and Pesch. Gate 22. Through there in 115. Not matching

:21:55. > :21:57.the best time. Pico and Biso confirmed the race leaders at the

:21:58. > :22:02.moment. Fifth position for the last of the French boats. Helen, which of

:22:03. > :22:07.the gates do you think the Czech crew might have hit? They were dodgy

:22:08. > :22:12.on 19, I thought at the time. It looks like they've been given their

:22:13. > :22:16.50 second penalty on the bottom of the course on that 19. It was a

:22:17. > :22:30.tricky gate. It is such a tricky gate. We see so many people fall on

:22:31. > :22:37.that one. Bozic from Slovenia. Are they on their way to world champion

:22:38. > :22:43.glory? Need to be on gate 8 around 28 seconds. That is to be up with

:22:44. > :22:47.the best. Not far off. They are in contention at this stage. Really

:22:48. > :22:53.good early season. Dropped away a little bit after Prague. But then

:22:54. > :22:57.came back to some sort of form in ashberg. Much better out here in

:22:58. > :23:01.Deep Creek than we've seen for a few weeks. .51 inside. Looking smooth

:23:02. > :23:05.and very controlled at the moment. You can see them getting the power

:23:06. > :23:10.in at the front of the boat. They are waiting. Making sure the bow

:23:11. > :23:14.goes under the poles at 13. Under the poles at 14 as well. Very nicely

:23:15. > :23:24.done. Slipping off a little bit there. A tricky eddy line. A lot of

:23:25. > :23:30.water. They've dropped below the current leaders Pico and Biso at the

:23:31. > :23:34.moment. Push hard into 17. Keep as much height as possible. We push out

:23:35. > :23:39.into 18. Is it going to be direct? Are they going to go above or below?

:23:40. > :23:45.That's the question. They are setting up for the above move. A

:23:46. > :23:49.good push. Quick spin. They've negotiated it safely. Great work.

:23:50. > :23:55.Great work. That could be the gold medal winning move provided they

:23:56. > :24:01.don't get penalised later on. The slough of slough Ianians heading for

:24:02. > :24:07.what could be a gold medal run. Good work from the two paddlers. 168

:24:08. > :24:17.their time in the semi-final. Well inside that. 119.16 they are after.

:24:18. > :24:20.They've got it surely? 118 much 43. They go into top spot with a superb

:24:21. > :24:43.run. -- 118.43. So, Matt, we saw the handshake at

:24:44. > :24:47.the end of your final run. We must assume that went well? We were

:24:48. > :24:52.really happy, proud we've finally nailed the rest of the season. Just

:24:53. > :25:00.wrapped it up nicely with a PB for us. Couldn't be happier. Rhys, a

:25:01. > :25:06.difficult course? So technical. You have to focus. Keep on it. We lost a

:25:07. > :25:11.bit of focus towards the end but it cost us darling. But we are happy.

:25:12. > :25:16.The C2 event is shaping up nicely from a British point of view?

:25:17. > :25:22.Definitely. We've a really good background. #08ed boats coming back

:25:23. > :25:26.in. It will be really hard to get to 26 team but a really interesting

:25:27. > :25:31.race. Some good racing to follow for the next couple of years. That's the

:25:32. > :25:35.end of the racing. I'm delighted to say Paul Radcliffe joins me. The

:25:36. > :25:41.chief coach. How was that week for the GB team? I think it's got to 'em

:25:42. > :25:46.podsy the philosophy of the team. We've had to fight for everything

:25:47. > :25:50.we've got this weekend. It's a really tough place to come. A lot of

:25:51. > :25:54.different challenges out there on the course. I'm really pleased with

:25:55. > :25:59.the way the whole team's handled a lot of different situations. We've

:26:00. > :26:03.had some ups and downs. We've finished on a very good day today.

:26:04. > :26:08.Super pleased for Fiona's medal. Second place. That's eight years

:26:09. > :26:14.since she won her last medal. She's on the up again. Mallory Franklin to

:26:15. > :26:19.repeat what she did is phenomenal. Some of the youngsters are coming

:26:20. > :26:24.through. For the under-23 teams. Finalses from Lister and Davis. Tom

:26:25. > :26:31.Quin's put it in there. Latham. Sile' ask you a tough question. Ask

:26:32. > :26:35.you to pick out bun of the GB performers who's your stand-out? It

:26:36. > :26:42.has to be Fiona Pennie. So pleased for her today. Working with the

:26:43. > :26:47.coaching team, Mark Ratcliffe, working so hard on the day. She was

:26:48. > :26:54.inch-perfect. We thought that was gold, to be honest. The girl's who's

:26:55. > :26:58.won full credit. But Fiona, awesome. It was a surprise and shock for

:26:59. > :27:02.Florence and Hounslow not to even get to the semi-final? We see the

:27:03. > :27:07.amount of work them guys put in every day, day in, day out. They are

:27:08. > :27:10.so professional. So hard working. They prepared excellently for this

:27:11. > :27:16.championship race. Sometimes it doesn't go to plan. Florence said to

:27:17. > :27:20.me halfway through the season, I learn more out of failure than I do

:27:21. > :27:25.out of winning. We're hoping he'll take stock of that. So will Richard.

:27:26. > :27:29.Next year's the big one for 2015. I'm hoping the team will come

:27:30. > :27:36.stronger next year for our Olympic qualification. Is a big advantage to

:27:37. > :27:42.have Olympic qualification on home ground? We know the course inside

:27:43. > :27:47.out. It is up to us to chill out a bit with that. Not overtry. We are

:27:48. > :27:54.expecting a really tough course like we had today. We are prepared for

:27:55. > :28:00.that as well. That's the end of World Championship slalom coon ewe.

:28:01. > :28:04.But gymnastics is on 7th October. Coverage starts at 3.00pm. That's

:28:05. > :28:09.all from Deep Creek in Maryland. It's been a week not without its

:28:10. > :28:14.challenges for the British team. But they do go home with two medal

:28:15. > :28:27.performances to savour. Bye-bye.
