:00:00. > :00:11.Fraser Holmes third. Fourth was Louis Smith. They will all go

:00:12. > :00:17.through. Has fifth made it in? I think, in lane seven, Ross Muir has

:00:18. > :00:42.made it to the final by a hundredth of a second.

:00:43. > :00:54.you missed the final by one 100th of a second.

:00:55. > :01:00.Comfortable for the first three, and Louis Smith is in, but the good news

:01:01. > :01:07.for Scotland and for Ross Muir is that Ross, by one 100th, has made

:01:08. > :01:13.the final, but unfortunately for Wales, at the expense of Thomas

:01:14. > :01:22.Hadfield. Well, a little bit of cat and mouse in that final heat. There

:01:23. > :01:25.is confirmation of the finalists. Daniel Wallace with that new British

:01:26. > :01:32.record and Commonwealth Games record. I have not sure that we have

:01:33. > :01:35.seen the other guys at full speed, though.

:01:36. > :01:39.Ross Muir in by the skin though.

:01:40. > :01:42.Ross Muir of his teeth, but Dan Wallace in by a good chunk of time -

:01:43. > :01:49.how good an indicator is that for tonight? Evidently for Dan, that is

:01:50. > :01:54.really good. I think Thomas Fraser-Holmes has a lot more left in

:01:55. > :02:05.the bank. He had heat of the 200m freestyle earlier. That is three

:02:06. > :02:10.Scots in the final. But Wallace has laid down a marker and is looking to

:02:11. > :02:14.be in exceptional form. That final is on BBC One tonight, with Clare

:02:15. > :02:21.Balding now, let's have a look at one of our para-events, the women's

:02:22. > :02:28.100m freestyle. Mark, in the commentary box, people might

:02:29. > :02:34.remember Stephanie Slater from able-bodied? Absolutely, she is a

:02:35. > :02:40.very good breaststroke. Then she had an injury in training, she dived in

:02:41. > :02:48.one day, she pulled hard and suddenly felt her arm go. After a

:02:49. > :02:53.long diagnosis process, she realised she had damaged the point where the

:02:54. > :02:57.nervous coming out of your back go into your arm. She had actually lost

:02:58. > :03:03.the use of that arm, and she is now on the Paralympic team, and she is a

:03:04. > :03:09.great hope for England tonight. What about the representation on the

:03:10. > :03:16.whole? I think we do have a lot of great swimmers in the UK, I would

:03:17. > :03:20.have liked to see more of them coming down. My generation has been

:03:21. > :03:24.working hard to increase the profile for Paralympic sport, and I would

:03:25. > :03:29.have liked to see a few more British athletes competing here. Over to you

:03:30. > :03:35.and Andrew to take us through the action.

:03:36. > :03:50.ANDREW JAMESON: Six swimmers only in this heat for the S8 category.

:03:51. > :03:55.That's right, if you think of it like boxing, you could actually take

:03:56. > :04:08.part up a category, if you wanted to. So, interesting tactics here,

:04:09. > :04:14.all of these swimmers will make the final, so it will be interesting to

:04:15. > :04:16.see if they just decide to take it easy. Right in

:04:17. > :04:22.see if they just decide to take it Slater is not taking it easy! You

:04:23. > :04:27.can see her pulling very strong with that right arm, and a massive kick

:04:28. > :04:36.as well. She has said she wants to go out hard in the morning, get a

:04:37. > :04:44.feel for the pool. A very good turn again. Single arm freestyle, and she

:04:45. > :05:01.is going 31.7. Able-bodied swimmers, C what you can do! It is possible to

:05:02. > :05:14.break the world record here. So Elliott, the world champion on the

:05:15. > :05:18.50m freestyle and 100m freestyle. I wonder if that was just to get rid

:05:19. > :05:24.of the cobwebs, and maybe in the final this evening, she could stick

:05:25. > :05:28.in a really fast one. But all six of these swimmers will make it through

:05:29. > :05:42.to the final, so it is just really organising the lanes. The first to

:05:43. > :05:46.finish was Elliott. Stephanie Slater really went for it. She did, and I

:05:47. > :05:52.think we will see these girls going really went for it. She did, and I

:05:53. > :05:57.even faster tonight. We have got the Kenyan here, she came ninth in this

:05:58. > :06:02.race in Delhi. She is getting a massive cheer from this crowd, a

:06:03. > :06:05.great reaction from the crowd here in Glasgow, appreciating all the

:06:06. > :06:11.effort that she is putting in down this final ten metres. She really is

:06:12. > :06:19.working hard, great to see this. The 31-year-old from Kenya. Finishing

:06:20. > :06:32.about 25-30 metres behind. Wonderful cheer from the crowd here in

:06:33. > :06:39.Tollcross. And she will make the final - only six swimmers in it, a

:06:40. > :06:44.double leg amputee. Look at that, really, really good from Stephanie

:06:45. > :06:50.Slater. How can you do that turn, just using one arm?! Great turn, and

:06:51. > :06:53.looking at Maddison Elliott, last year she went within two tenths of

:06:54. > :06:56.the world record, aged 15. year she went within two tenths of

:06:57. > :07:01.the world record, aged If you are a club swimmer, an age-group swimmer,

:07:02. > :07:07.you would expect to be faster when it comes to the final, and I think

:07:08. > :07:09.we can expect to see that. So, Maddison Elliott will go into this

:07:10. > :07:20.evening's final fastest. Great swim from Stephanie Slater,

:07:21. > :07:25.but that was a great moment for the Kenyan swimmer. Yes, it is lovely

:07:26. > :07:33.singing it. The Commonwealth Games, with able-bodied and para-athletes,

:07:34. > :07:39.it is about taking part. It is one of these things, they stipulate with

:07:40. > :07:45.the Olympic Games, you have the big nations, to promote sport within

:07:46. > :07:48.your country, you want these athletes from other countries as

:07:49. > :07:52.well to come and perform just it is a wonderful moment seeing things

:07:53. > :07:57.like that. There will be people watching who think, I will give it a

:07:58. > :08:02.it will have that knock-on effect. Let's turn our attention to the

:08:03. > :08:06.men's four x one and freestyle. The girls pulled it out of the bag in

:08:07. > :08:09.spectacular style last night, the Australians, so what do you think

:08:10. > :08:13.the men have got to offer? The swimmers who are here in the heats

:08:14. > :08:18.are not actually the ones who will swim tonight. They do change they

:08:19. > :08:23.will bring some different ones in. Looking at the English team, they

:08:24. > :08:27.will do the same. So, these guys this morning, it is all about the

:08:28. > :08:35.team, and getting them through to the final. Well, Scotland, Wales and

:08:36. > :08:40.Guernsey go in the first heat. Adrian and Andrew, over to you.

:08:41. > :08:47.So, Canada, traditionally the fastest seed. I think they have

:08:48. > :08:52.simply drawn lots for the lanes. Scotland in Lane 2. We will speak

:08:53. > :08:59.about that with Adrian in a moment. Guernsey are in Lane 5, New Zealand,

:09:00. > :09:21.Lane 6, and Jarvis leading Wales off, closest to us, in Lane 7.

:09:22. > :09:30.I like that lane at the top, I am not sure about you? I agree with

:09:31. > :09:37.you! You want to be nearest to the crowd, but noise, next to your team.

:09:38. > :09:46.I agree with you! Good, we have found something, finally! So, Jack

:09:47. > :09:49.Thorpe, the second to turn. The Commonwealth Games, for some strange

:09:50. > :09:53.reason, we always seem to have disqualification is on these relays,

:09:54. > :09:59.and it is not a clever thing to do, obviously just but with so few

:10:00. > :10:03.really high quality teams in it, we saw the

:10:04. > :10:06.really high quality teams in it, we disqualified, for example. Good swim

:10:07. > :10:13.from Jack Thorpe. ADRIAN MOORHOUSE: Yes, good to see

:10:14. > :10:18.the Welsh doing well. Calum Jarvis, second swim for him today as well.

:10:19. > :10:26.the Welsh doing well. Calum Jarvis, That was a fantastic lid off from

:10:27. > :10:31.him. ANDREW JAMESON:

:10:32. > :10:36.him. got Richard Schafers. For Canada,

:10:37. > :10:38.Coleman Alan. Looks like the Scots are going very well at the moment.

:10:39. > :10:42.You just have to make sure you do are going very well at the moment.

:10:43. > :10:45.safe takeovers, you will definitely get through to the final. Just make

:10:46. > :10:51.sure the takeovers are good. So, Scotland leading. Oh, I tell you

:10:52. > :10:56.what, the Canadian takeover was really tight! One 100th of a second

:10:57. > :11:10.splitting the teams. That takeover was 0.21. It is

:11:11. > :11:17.interesting, we have actually got the takeover times on our computer

:11:18. > :11:21.next to us. That was the quickest takeover of the whole field so far,

:11:22. > :11:34.so you are right on that one. It looked a lot tighter than .21. .2 is

:11:35. > :11:40.actually pretty safe. And Scotland looking like they are going to win

:11:41. > :11:45.this first heat. Final leg is going to be Jak Scott. So, Jack is in for

:11:46. > :11:48.Scotland. Second is Canada. Third, in Lane 6, is New Zealand. And

:11:49. > :12:04.closest to us are Team Wales. The Canadians are consistent on

:12:05. > :12:08.takeover times, 0.20 or thereabouts. Really good takeovers.

:12:09. > :12:16.takeover times, 0.20 or thereabouts. being lifted by the crowd. A full

:12:17. > :12:19.body length ahead, I cannot imagine they will lose this one. The crowd

:12:20. > :12:25.are going they will lose this one. The crowd

:12:26. > :12:32.cheering them home! Scott looks like he will bring it home for Team

:12:33. > :12:53.Scotland in this free relay. Scotland win the first heat.

:12:54. > :13:07.Wales, I think they should be OK to make a final, but there is another

:13:08. > :13:16.heat to come. Broke the Scottish record by more than a second. Scott,

:13:17. > :13:34.the only one remaining from four years ago, from that team.

:13:35. > :13:43.The top three will certainly go through. Wales will have to wait,

:13:44. > :13:47.but should be OK. Just checking the records again, I think that was a

:13:48. > :14:01.Welsh record. Maybe a couple of seconds. So, pretty impressive.

:14:02. > :14:15.The second heat, Australia in Lane 4, England in Lane 5. South Africa

:14:16. > :14:21.in Lane 2. So, the South Africans should be the favourites. They will

:14:22. > :14:26.change a lot of their swimmers they should be fine as long as they do

:14:27. > :14:31.decent takeovers. Australia, again, they will change a lot of their

:14:32. > :14:49.swimmers. Coleman leading off for England.

:14:50. > :14:56.them off, Lewis Coleman from England in lean's -- Lena four.

:14:57. > :14:58.-- lead before. It should be relatively straightforward to get

:14:59. > :15:04.through to this Commonwealth Games final. The medals, of course, will

:15:05. > :15:09.not be so easy to get, some very big teams in Australia, England,

:15:10. > :15:18.Scotland had really good swimmer and South Africa traditionally excellent

:15:19. > :15:20.in the 4x100 relay team. Yes, they will be changing three of their

:15:21. > :15:35.swimmers from the heats to the finals. What can they do here?

:15:36. > :15:40.Sub 50? 49.5. Well, the England team, 51.254 Lewis

:15:41. > :15:42.Coleman. England are fifth at the

:15:43. > :15:45.Coleman. they have some work to do. South

:15:46. > :15:56.Africa leading, Australia currently in second position. England,

:15:57. > :16:05.Northern Ireland and Singapore pretty much in line now. Australia

:16:06. > :16:11.taking over, Kenneth torn leading for Australia in the centre. After

:16:12. > :16:16.that final last night where the women destroyed the world record, I

:16:17. > :16:25.was delighted to see that. The halfway mark in this men's 4x100

:16:26. > :16:29.relay. South Africa are second up at up there and those teams well ahead

:16:30. > :16:41.of England, who have now moved into third place. Northern Ireland is in

:16:42. > :16:44.fourth next to Singapore in fifth. Kenneth To having a really good swim

:16:45. > :16:51.for the Australians. Ned McKendry deserves a place, meant -- maybe. I

:16:52. > :16:54.wonder if they will look at that, the Aussies. One of these swimmers

:16:55. > :17:00.will go through. I thought it might have been To.

:17:01. > :17:06.Anyway, South Africa, Australia, head to head. The same line up as

:17:07. > :17:11.the Scottish team up at the top there, the South Africans. Just

:17:12. > :17:16.pulling ahead now. 100m to go, the final leg of this

:17:17. > :17:22.men's 4x100 metres freestyle relay and Australia leading it pretty

:17:23. > :17:29.comfortably with very much there be team -- very much the B team. Look

:17:30. > :17:33.at the leggy drive of the Australian, that is impressive.

:17:34. > :17:38.Coming back very hard now as James Disney-May of England has a really

:17:39. > :17:41.good first 50 and overtaking the South Africans in this way the

:17:42. > :17:46.water. This is a good swim from him a very good swimming indeed. Studio

:17:47. > :17:51.one, England two, South Africa three.

:17:52. > :17:55.South Africa have dropped now. These guys will be all right for the

:17:56. > :18:00.final. Some of them are battling for their run places, having said that.

:18:01. > :18:08.Australia first coming in second, James Disney-May, brilliant leg to

:18:09. > :18:10.overtake the South Africans, 43.38. While, fastest split of that race, I

:18:11. > :18:21.believe. It was. Really good swimming from

:18:22. > :18:26.James Disney-May. That is extremely impressive,

:18:27. > :18:30.especially behind, it is almost like swimming behind a pleasure boat,

:18:31. > :18:32.some of the big Aussies, the waves coming off a pleasurable, some of

:18:33. > :18:35.the big Aussies, the waves coming of them are huge. The swimmers getting

:18:36. > :18:37.ready to come off the blocks, of course.

:18:38. > :18:41.You start anticipating when the swimmers were to come in and touch.

:18:42. > :18:45.Lots of practice to get that right so your feet do not leave before the

:18:46. > :18:48.hand touches the wall. That is what they measure.

:18:49. > :18:52.Particularly with that step forward takeover.

:18:53. > :18:59.Absolutely, you can be rocking on your feet to get that wrong.

:19:00. > :19:10.The winners are team Australia with their beating. England second, South

:19:11. > :19:18.Africa third. -- with the attempting to -- with their B Team. I think

:19:19. > :19:30.Northern Ireland are just in ninth. Let's just say. Qualifying for the

:19:31. > :19:35.4x100 metres freestyle title, Australia are fastest, Scotland's

:19:36. > :19:40.third, and we also have team Wales in there, there, as well, excellent.

:19:41. > :19:48.STUDIO: Scotland, England and Wales into the final tonight, it has been

:19:49. > :19:54.a good morning this morning so far, what has been your highlight?

:19:55. > :20:01.Probably the men's 100, just to bounce back this morning from last

:20:02. > :20:03.night's big 200 final. The guys have done a great job stepping it back up

:20:04. > :20:11.and it will be an exciting race. In that far ahead, I know that

:20:12. > :20:14.Fraser runs got older bit more, but that was a great performance,

:20:15. > :20:16.especially on the back of last night.

:20:17. > :20:23.Thank you for coming this morning, have a good time tonight, just check

:20:24. > :20:24.with cloud what she is wearing, yes? That is it from this morning's

:20:25. > :20:29.session, back to Michelle. That is it from this morning's

:20:30. > :20:30.Thank you, we will be back with you in the swimming pool tomorrow

:20:31. > :20:34.morning, we in the swimming pool tomorrow

:20:35. > :20:35.in the first 36 hours of the Commonwealth Games 2014. We have had

:20:36. > :20:39.a drama of a kind no one wants Commonwealth Games 2014. We have had

:20:40. > :20:43.see emerge in an announcement from Commonwealth Games 2014. We have had

:20:44. > :20:47.teams Wales... Team Wales this morning. The Welsh hurdler

:20:48. > :20:47.teams Wales... Team Wales this Williams field under test and will

:20:48. > :20:52.have no further part in the coming Williams field under test and will

:20:53. > :20:56.of Games. In the last couple of minutes we have had a statement from

:20:57. > :20:58.him saying it is a great shock and he has

:20:59. > :20:59.him saying it is a great shock and banned substance but he knows that

:21:00. > :21:08.this possibility lies with him. Ice Rhys Williams failed a drugs test.

:21:09. > :21:10.this possibility lies with him. Ice This is the kind of news, Steve,

:21:11. > :21:16.that no one wants to see from a competition.

:21:17. > :21:20.It is devastating for the Games, I guess, for Wales and particularly

:21:21. > :21:23.for Rhys Williams. It is the second Welsh athlete in the space of about

:21:24. > :21:25.for Rhys Williams. It is the second 12 days, Gareth Warburton, runner

:21:26. > :21:32.who would have been here 12 days, Gareth Warburton, runner

:21:33. > :21:35.couple of weeks ago. I think that the tests are likely to be related.

:21:36. > :21:41.The statements that they normally do, I do not normally take

:21:42. > :21:43.substance, they are two fine upstanding athlete and I think most

:21:44. > :21:49.people will be pretty shocked who know them to find that they have

:21:50. > :21:53.failed a test. Reading between the lines, it does smack of what we have

:21:54. > :21:58.failed a test. Reading between the have both been using, they are not

:21:59. > :21:59.in the have both been using, they are not

:22:00. > :22:03.the same area, they may well have both been using, they are not

:22:04. > :22:04.been using something that what for --

:22:05. > :22:09.been using something that what for produced this positive test. This

:22:10. > :22:12.expense has this works, because he was tested at a competition there in

:22:13. > :22:17.Glasgow on the 11th of July after running in this race.

:22:18. > :22:19.Yes, we were there for the Diamond League scum test event for the

:22:20. > :22:21.number of Games in Hampden Park. League scum test event for the

:22:22. > :22:25.Rhys Williams in this League scum test event for the

:22:26. > :22:27.position in the European position in the European

:22:28. > :22:38.Championships which come after this. He has had an up and down season. He

:22:39. > :22:41.knows, as does Gareth Warburton, you are 100% responsible. It doesn't

:22:42. > :22:45.matter if it is a contaminated supplement or a video caught giving

:22:46. > :22:50.you something, you are responsible. He understands that and they will

:22:51. > :22:56.have to suffer the consequences. -- contaminated supplement or a physio

:22:57. > :23:01.giving you something. I called one of our English athlete

:23:02. > :23:07.and she has had six or seven tests in the last few weeks and it is part

:23:08. > :23:11.of what they do. That is their responsibility.

:23:12. > :23:16.He has a right to respond now, he is out of the Games whatever happens.

:23:17. > :23:21.The process that kicks in to place on a positive test, he is not

:23:22. > :23:28.contesting the fact it is a positive test per se. There is a process to

:23:29. > :23:31.go through. But he has a suspension in place and when they review the

:23:32. > :23:39.whole case they will look at the situation around it, what the

:23:40. > :23:41.substance is, whether he will plead mitigating circumstances and a

:23:42. > :23:48.penalty will be handed down, it could be six months or three months

:23:49. > :23:54.or longer. It is below 14 Wales particularly

:23:55. > :24:00.because he has this position of response body. -- it is a blow for

:24:01. > :24:07.Wales. Yes, there is a vice captain. He

:24:08. > :24:10.would have an instead to them and then a few hours later they would

:24:11. > :24:15.have found out about this. He has always been someone who are a lot of

:24:16. > :24:18.other athletes have respected because of the way he conducted

:24:19. > :24:23.himself. It is a remainder of the way that

:24:24. > :24:27.the system works, athletes are tested at any time. He wrapped the

:24:28. > :24:30.Commonwealth Games we know how UK anti-doping works but different

:24:31. > :24:33.countries may have different regimes.

:24:34. > :24:37.Absolutely, but that is not for us to worry about. We have to be as

:24:38. > :24:43.robust as we can be. The anti-doping authority take a hard line, rightly

:24:44. > :24:48.so. The world added authority has responsibility to conduct tests

:24:49. > :24:53.around the world. Each federation and each sport is different. What we

:24:54. > :24:57.are trying to move to eventually is a scenario is that everyone, no

:24:58. > :25:01.matter where you are in the world, whatever sport you are doing, you

:25:02. > :25:05.are subject to the same level of testing. We are still a long way

:25:06. > :25:10.from that but we have been moving towards it in the last few years. As

:25:11. > :25:14.I said, at the end of the day, it can appear harsh if it is seemingly

:25:15. > :25:21.accidental, but we have to have that in place. For all of those who make

:25:22. > :25:23.a slight action, and it is your responsibility, there are plenty of

:25:24. > :25:32.others who are deliberately trying to cheat. We have to be strong and

:25:33. > :25:40.robust and the penalties, a penalty will be handed down which I hope

:25:41. > :25:44.will be the right sort of penalty, but for Welsh athletics it is a

:25:45. > :25:48.pretty devastating time. Not easy at all for the athlete

:25:49. > :25:54.personally for the Wales team. Thank you for joining us, we will see you

:25:55. > :25:57.on the athletics day, that begins on Sunday. Drama indoor swimming heats

:25:58. > :26:03.but it's time to an overdue Jason who will take over the baton out

:26:04. > :26:07.therein the sunshine on the balcony. What do you have in store this

:26:08. > :26:10.afternoon? Thank you, Michelle. We have more

:26:11. > :26:15.cracking sport for you this afternoon at the 2014 Commonwealth

:26:16. > :26:18.Games. It is so beautiful we have decided to use this wonderful

:26:19. > :26:23.balcony. This is what is coming up this afternoon.

:26:24. > :26:27.Olympic champion Jason Kenny is going for gold today in the men's

:26:28. > :26:34.sprint. We will see him in quarterfinal action.

:26:35. > :26:40.England beat Wales in the women's hockey yesterday. The big question -

:26:41. > :26:45.can the Welsh bounce back in netball at the SECC? And we will be shooting

:26:46. > :26:56.over to beautiful Carnoustie for the women's ten metres app store vital

:26:57. > :27:03.ice air pistol final. -- air pistol final.

:27:04. > :27:07.This afternoon the judo is available on BBC Three right now. And through

:27:08. > :27:12.the red button you can watch the netball, England versus Wales. We

:27:13. > :27:16.will be showing you that later on. And if that is not enough for you,

:27:17. > :27:21.you can head to the website. Every individual sport will be streamed

:27:22. > :27:29.live, at the Emirates Arena you can watch badminton whether mixed group

:27:30. > :27:32.team stages continuing. We will have the best of the netball later,

:27:33. > :27:38.England's first game before they take on Australia tomorrow, and the

:27:39. > :27:42.judo early rounds are on right now. If you are right and a bag you can

:27:43. > :27:49.get all of this on your mobile, as well, just go to BBC .co .uk slash

:27:50. > :27:54.Glasgow 2014. Don't forget all of the coverage on BBC Radio 5 Live, as

:27:55. > :27:55.well. We are starting at the wonderful Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome,

:27:56. > :28:10.another exciting day in prospect. Look back into the past, almost two

:28:11. > :28:13.centuries, and you will find that here in Scotland, a was creating the

:28:14. > :28:24.first pedal bicycle. 's -- a man.

:28:25. > :28:26.It is an invention this nation grew to love. One which opened the doors

:28:27. > :28:33.to live is shaped by sport. On the streets and roads, and on the

:28:34. > :28:48.track. Here, no single journey, but an

:28:49. > :28:50.overlap of steep boards and hard graft, and the showground for the

:28:51. > :28:58.best in the world. So, this nation gives thanks to the

:28:59. > :29:05.man who invented this machine of travel and sport. And, for him, we

:29:06. > :29:10.can see that this summer, cycling is coming home.

:29:11. > :29:15.It is very much coming home, so it is all eyes on the Sir Chris Hoy

:29:16. > :29:19.Velodrome today and all eyes on Jason Kenny. He has a lot of work to

:29:20. > :29:23.do, only just made the quarterfinals in the event this afternoon, so

:29:24. > :29:24.let's go live to Jonathan Edwards with Sir Chris Hoy and Dame Sarah

:29:25. > :29:37.Storey. Thanks very much, the likeable Scot!

:29:38. > :29:41.The men's sprint for the finals we will see very shortly, as Jason

:29:42. > :29:46.mentioned it was not the best qualified for Jason Kenny, wasn't

:29:47. > :29:50.it? It was not. By his standards it was pretty

:29:51. > :29:52.shocking, down for 11th place. He went for the repechage and he is

:29:53. > :30:01.down against the fastest qualifier, Matt writes. -- Matthew Glaetzer.

:30:02. > :30:05.In teams but they were much much better, and in a sense you get a lot

:30:06. > :30:08.of confidence from that? Definitely, his interview after the

:30:09. > :30:12.team sprint was one of, we're looking forwards, we have built up

:30:13. > :30:16.from the World Championships and use this as an opportunity to race

:30:17. > :30:18.against the incredible line-up and we can start afresh tomorrow morning

:30:19. > :30:23.in the quarterfinals of the sprint and see where that takes us.

:30:24. > :30:26.You will be up against Matthew Glaetzer of Australia, that is a

:30:27. > :30:31.tough matchup. First of all, let us hear from Jason.

:30:32. > :30:37.He comes from Bolton, great sprinter.

:30:38. > :30:44.It is Jason Kenny! What I write! You need a lot of

:30:45. > :30:48.power. You need to be very smooth.

:30:49. > :30:52.Silver in Beijing, called in London.

:30:53. > :30:55.Speed and tactics, as well? A bit of tactics, yes, but with the

:30:56. > :31:01.best of the tactics I would much rather be in front and quicker than

:31:02. > :31:07.everyone else. And Kenny has released Sir Chris

:31:08. > :31:08.everyone else. Chris Hoy. The Olympic team sprint

:31:09. > :31:15.champions, look at this young lad here. What a future he has ahead of

:31:16. > :31:22.him. It feels like quite a long time ago now. I won in Beijing when I was

:31:23. > :31:27.20 and I am 26 now. Ever since I first started cycling seriously,

:31:28. > :31:32.London was on the radar because that was my main goal, I would be 24 at

:31:33. > :31:37.the time and in theory at my command.

:31:38. > :31:42.Kenny is the Olympic sprint champion! He wins the gold medal and

:31:43. > :31:47.he won it in style! What was London like for you, you

:31:48. > :31:50.got the two gold medals, what was it like afterwards? How did life

:31:51. > :31:55.change? It was mental for a couple of weeks after London, but a few

:31:56. > :31:58.months down the line and it is not long before you kind of slip back

:31:59. > :32:03.into normal life and back into training.

:32:04. > :32:04.Yes, that was it, wanted to go well at the world champion ships and we

:32:05. > :32:09.managed to get gold there. at the world champion ships and we

:32:10. > :32:10.Jason Kenny you is the world champion!

:32:11. > :32:15.What a ride when it really mattered. That was quite nice after the Games

:32:16. > :32:18.to back up that performance, so I was looking forward to the next

:32:19. > :32:30.event, I never spend too long patting myself on the back. Now, I

:32:31. > :32:34.suppose you are the man that people look to in terms of track-side in

:32:35. > :32:35.Great Britain - how have you taken on that mantle?

:32:36. > :32:39.It is not something on that mantle?

:32:40. > :32:44.just focus on winning as many races as possible, which is hard enough!

:32:45. > :32:48.It was hard when Chris was around, racing him, and it has not got any

:32:49. > :32:53.easier. There is always somebody battling and wanting to win. We are

:32:54. > :32:56.always fighting to win as many gold medals as possible. I have got World

:32:57. > :33:03.Championships and Olympic told medals, but no Commonwealths. But it

:33:04. > :33:03.is not going to be easy. We have got Australia and New

:33:04. > :33:12.current world champions, so it is going to be a good old battle.

:33:13. > :33:14.So, the question to Jason was quite interesting about that leadership

:33:15. > :33:18.role, with you having retired. Do interesting about that leadership

:33:19. > :33:21.you think that is something which he is just not interested in, you does

:33:22. > :33:27.not feel comfortable with, does he need to be a leader? I do not think

:33:28. > :33:32.it is something that you volunteer for, that you step forward and say,

:33:33. > :33:35.I want to lead the team. It is purely about how he approaches his

:33:36. > :33:39.racing. He just wants to focus on doing the best he can for his

:33:40. > :33:43.individual events and playing his role within the team. But he will

:33:44. > :33:47.become the natural leader, just because of his successor. But I do

:33:48. > :33:50.not think he wants the attention, he does not like being in the

:33:51. > :33:56.spotlight. He just wants to get on with winning races. It was a mixed

:33:57. > :33:57.day yesterday with the team sprint team just scraping through. Let's

:33:58. > :34:04.have a look at that now team just scraping through. Let's

:34:05. > :34:08.Brotherton and Rob Hayles. The individual match sprinting not going

:34:09. > :34:17.terribly well with the home riders so far. All five of them forced into

:34:18. > :34:24.the repechage. Yes, the qualifying was dominated by Australians and New

:34:25. > :34:27.Zealanders. So, it is a difficult task. I think it just shows where

:34:28. > :34:33.those nations are at, compared to our boys. They lost their Mojo a

:34:34. > :34:40.little bit, the English sprinters and the Home Nations, which is kind

:34:41. > :34:45.of unsurprising because, off the back of the Olympics, and looking

:34:46. > :34:46.forward to years, but these are the Commonwealth Games, they are on home

:34:47. > :34:50.soil, so, it Commonwealth Games, they are on home

:34:51. > :34:54.soil, so, would be nice to see them up there a little bit more. The

:34:55. > :34:58.signs were not great the last couple of weeks in training, but they were

:34:59. > :35:16.hoping to freshen up a little bit better than they have.

:35:17. > :35:27.First up, a sprint of potentially the highest quality. Up against the

:35:28. > :35:32.rider who broke the Games record in the 200m in qualification, and who

:35:33. > :35:37.was impressive in winning his first round match up as well. Matthew

:35:38. > :35:42.Glaetzer, from Australia. Rob Hayles, alongside me in the

:35:43. > :35:47.commentary box. Yes, this is a tough ride for Jason Kenny. Half a second

:35:48. > :35:52.was the difference between Kenny and Sabatini from convocation, which,

:35:53. > :35:58.over 200m, is massive. Jason Kenny really needs to bring in tact ticks,

:35:59. > :36:00.he cannot rely on sheer speed. 0.5 of a second, it is a huge

:36:01. > :36:23.disadvantage. And he has tried to steal a march on

:36:24. > :36:28.Matthew Glaetzer! He has tried to go early! He has still got a lot to do!

:36:29. > :36:33.And Jason Kenny is going to try to lead this one out and do it the hard

:36:34. > :36:40.way, do it from the front! Glaetzer is closing in, can he close the?

:36:41. > :36:44.Jason Kenny will hang on! Well, Rob Hayles, you said it was about that

:36:45. > :37:00.X, and he mixed up the tactics, and it worked. Well, we do not see Sir

:37:01. > :37:04.Chris Hoy had sheer speed, but Jason Kenny has made the most of that. I

:37:05. > :37:09.do not think he will be allowed to do that any more in this

:37:10. > :37:14.competition! But he really needed to take Glaetzer unawares, and get that

:37:15. > :37:21.distance, and once he did that, it was all about holding on. His coach

:37:22. > :37:25.was down on the inside, giving him the thumbs up, saying, this is good,

:37:26. > :37:30.but you need to keep it going. Glaetzer was desperately trying to

:37:31. > :37:36.get into the slipstream and chase him down, but he just ran out of

:37:37. > :37:42.track in the end. The pair of them raced against each other in a final

:37:43. > :37:46.in Australia last winter, and the Australian came out on top. But

:37:47. > :37:52.Jason Kenny, leading from the front from a long, long way out of. Big

:37:53. > :38:00.effort, but one which paid off. It gives him a 1-0 lead in this best.

:38:01. > :38:06.He has already had to come through the repechage, and that was a big

:38:07. > :38:10.effort from Kenny. He will have to get on the rollers now and warm down

:38:11. > :38:16.and try to get the lactic acid out of the legs. The action coming thick

:38:17. > :38:21.and fast on the track. The second race is almost ready to go. Matt

:38:22. > :38:25.Crampton, at 28, another rider who came through the repechage from the

:38:26. > :38:31.first round, up against a Dawkins, who won the team sprint with New

:38:32. > :38:38.Zealand yesterday afternoon. Already with a gold medal in his pocket.

:38:39. > :38:40.Crampton, silver medallist in the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne back

:38:41. > :38:49.in 2006, that was in the team sprint. Into the last eight here, in

:38:50. > :38:59.the match sprint. Dawkins, second qualifier yesterday, in 9.818. 0.4

:39:00. > :39:02.of a second difference. Larrissa Miller to the previous round, I

:39:03. > :39:10.think Matt Crampton will have to use all of his skills as a sprinter. --

:39:11. > :39:16.very similar to the previous round. The Kiwis have really come on strong

:39:17. > :39:22.in the sprint events in the last few years. Two laps to go, and Crampton

:39:23. > :39:25.is certainly experienced, the European clearing champion from

:39:26. > :39:32.three years ago. He has a bronze at World Championships of as well.

:39:33. > :39:40.Using the banking hopefully to best effect here. Dawkins holding that

:39:41. > :39:45.inside line, halfway round the final lap. It is going to be close! But

:39:46. > :39:50.Dawkins looks as though he has got the speed. And he has the legs to

:39:51. > :39:58.out do Matt Crampton and take an early lead. Yes, Crampton tried to

:39:59. > :40:02.use the height of the banking, but Dawkins kept him there, meaning

:40:03. > :40:05.Crampton had to go around a long way. That is the hard way to do it.

:40:06. > :40:11.Even with this long home straight that we have got, which does allow

:40:12. > :40:20.riders to come out of that last banking and have more of a chance,

:40:21. > :40:24.he was not able to do it. I am not sure that Dawkins has ever been in

:40:25. > :40:27.better form than he he was breaking track records at their training

:40:28. > :40:31.camps, and he has been looking blisteringly fast here. Not only

:40:32. > :40:35.physically are they stronger and quicker at the moment, they also

:40:36. > :40:40.have the psychological advantage. They have already become gold

:40:41. > :40:44.medallists in the team sprint, and they are World Championships well.

:40:45. > :40:52.Once you get the role, you get the momentum, right across the team,

:40:53. > :40:54.lift everybody. And I just think the English boys are struggling little

:40:55. > :40:59.bit, even with that silver medal from yesterday in the team sprint.

:41:00. > :41:03.We do see time and time again, though, with the British riders, it

:41:04. > :41:07.is all about the four-year Olympic cycle, isn't it? This is not an

:41:08. > :41:14.unfamiliar situation for the British. No, it is a template which

:41:15. > :41:18.they have used to great effect over the last two Olympic cycles. But it

:41:19. > :41:22.is difficult for the public, and sometimes for us as commentators, to

:41:23. > :41:26.get over the fact that they are competing here, and the expectation

:41:27. > :41:31.is that every time a British rider puts on their skin suit and gets on

:41:32. > :41:35.the boards, we do expect so much from them. But ultimately, it is a

:41:36. > :41:43.about the Olympics, and that is how they prioritise. We have got two

:41:44. > :41:47.really good riders on the track now. Sam Webster, from New Zealand,

:41:48. > :41:51.recently turned 23, won the gold medal in the team sprint yesterday.

:41:52. > :41:56.World champion in that event as well. It came to prominence as a

:41:57. > :42:02.junior when he won four gold medals in the World Championships a couple

:42:03. > :42:07.of years back. The Malaysian, the first Malaysian cyclist to ever win

:42:08. > :42:16.a World Championships will, back in 2009, and that was also in the match

:42:17. > :42:23.sprint. But I think he is better known as a keirin rider. He is, and

:42:24. > :42:37.an electrifying one, at that. These two are not hanging about.

:42:38. > :42:43.Webster has the lead! The Malaysian trying to get back on level terms.

:42:44. > :42:57.Into the finishing straight, and Webster takes it.

:42:58. > :43:05.This match here, very even. Peter Lewis, the Australian, on the

:43:06. > :43:13.inside. Just a 10th quicker than Archibald, the Kiwi. So, it is the

:43:14. > :43:18.Australian who has to take the lead on the first lap at least, unless

:43:19. > :43:23.Archibald decides to take it from him. Very evenly matched, this could

:43:24. > :43:27.go either way. Lewis, as a result of the illness that he had during the

:43:28. > :43:31.winter, said that he had pretty much written the season off, but he

:43:32. > :43:34.recovered rather more quickly than he thought. So perhaps he has been

:43:35. > :43:43.preparing without any psychological pressure. Well, we do fancy athletes

:43:44. > :43:47.from all sports who have come back from injury or, depending on what it

:43:48. > :43:53.is, and they can actually camp back with a vengeance. Matthew

:43:54. > :43:57.Archibald, with a vengeance. Matthew

:43:58. > :44:06.sprint winner in the World Cup early last year, with New Zealand. Missed

:44:07. > :44:10.out on the gold medal here yesterday, but has shown that he is

:44:11. > :44:16.in good form. As they take the bell, one lap to go. Archibald just trying

:44:17. > :44:23.to use the advantage of the banking. Being held off by Lewis.

:44:24. > :44:26.And there is not going to be much between these two, as they crossed

:44:27. > :44:32.the line, but by half a bike length, it is Peter Lewis. Lewis, like so

:44:33. > :44:36.many of the Australian it is Peter Lewis. Lewis, like so

:44:37. > :44:39.riders, bases himself in Adelaide these days,

:44:40. > :44:44.riders, bases himself in Adelaide cycling. Originally from New South

:44:45. > :44:57.Wales. He will begin his warm down, and they will be back on the track a

:44:58. > :45:02.little later. Here we go with the quarterfinals. It is the

:45:03. > :45:06.little later. Here we go with the sprint, second race, best-of-3.

:45:07. > :45:12.Jason Kenny leading after the first matchup. It was an unorthodox

:45:13. > :45:13.sprint, and unorthodox tactics, but it worked. I don't

:45:14. > :45:15.sprint, and unorthodox tactics, but work again. Well, Kenny launched his

:45:16. > :45:21.attack early on, taking work again. Well, Kenny launched his

:45:22. > :45:26.unawares. And we only see those kind work again. Well, Kenny launched his

:45:27. > :45:28.of tactics will be every two or three seasons. And they

:45:29. > :45:35.of tactics will be every two or hanging around in this second race,

:45:36. > :45:39.either. He knows he has got the speed, half a second quicker coming

:45:40. > :45:43.out of qualification, so Kenny has got all the work to do. And he was

:45:44. > :45:53.not going to be caught out a second time. Can Jason Kenny close the gap?

:45:54. > :45:59.I think Jason Kenny has beaten him on the line! Do you know what, he

:46:00. > :46:04.rode that absolutely perfectly. If he did cross the line first... We

:46:05. > :46:13.will have to wait for the photo finish, but he rode at the only way

:46:14. > :46:19.possible. He used the banking and the long home straight, timing it to

:46:20. > :46:24.perfection. I was so expecting this to go to three rides. Here it is

:46:25. > :46:30.again, and Jason Kenny has got it on the line, definitely. Well, given

:46:31. > :46:34.the way he rode yesterday in the qualifying and in the first round,

:46:35. > :46:37.he needed the repechage to get into this quarterfinal, he was up against

:46:38. > :46:42.the fastest man in the field after the qualifying, Glaetzer, who had

:46:43. > :47:01.looked imperious, but Kenny was magnificent! This is the first big

:47:02. > :47:05.upset of these Commonwealth Games. That is what happens with Jason

:47:06. > :47:09.Kenny, you are never quite sure what you're going to get comedy is three

:47:10. > :47:11.times and Olympic champion but he was knocked out in the World

:47:12. > :47:17.Championship quarterfinals this year and he was not about to get knocked

:47:18. > :47:21.out in the last eight this time. That is what you call timing at to

:47:22. > :47:25.perfection. I really don't think Glaetzer was expecting that.

:47:26. > :47:30.I don't think we wear, to be honest! I expected this to go to three

:47:31. > :47:33.rides, I really did, but Kenny timed that to absolute perfection, he

:47:34. > :47:38.could not have done anything any better.

:47:39. > :47:46.Squeezing home in that second ride, Jason Kenny. And as straight rides

:47:47. > :47:49.when, which means he can rest is late God of it, making up for the

:47:50. > :47:57.fact he had that extra ride yesterday. He is one of the writers

:47:58. > :48:03.who had to his way through the repechages to get here.

:48:04. > :48:07.-- one of the riders. Will we see the old Jason Kenny revitalised? Has

:48:08. > :48:11.he got his Mojo back? This is certainly a good sign and he has to

:48:12. > :48:18.be happy with that, but it is all about the next rider.

:48:19. > :48:22.Well, the road very well taking that silver medal yesterday.

:48:23. > :48:25.He did very well to get into qualification yesterday lunch time.

:48:26. > :48:32.That was his first event, he really has seemed to pull it round.

:48:33. > :48:36.Matt Crampton, trailing 1-0. Against Eddie Dawkins from New Zealand.

:48:37. > :48:41.Dawkins, who was part of the gold-medal winning team sprint squad

:48:42. > :48:46.for New Zealand yesterday. Matt Crampton come into the quarterfinals

:48:47. > :48:49.through a repechage, last chance saloon for him, he has to make it

:48:50. > :48:52.count. Both riders wanting to take control,

:48:53. > :48:58.ultimately it is Matt Crampton who has that. He has to try and keep

:48:59. > :49:05.Dawkins on his hip. He has to make him go around the long way.

:49:06. > :49:10.Certainly in that first race Dawkins looked as if he just had the pure

:49:11. > :49:16.burst of speed to beat Matt Crampton. Dawkins almost forced off

:49:17. > :49:19.the inside of the track there, the pair of them hassling their way

:49:20. > :49:26.around the back straight, but Dawkins now in all position. Matt

:49:27. > :49:29.Crampton is going to be beaten here by Eddie Dawkins of New Zealand who

:49:30. > :49:36.is safely through to the semifinals. Well, I'd smarter than

:49:37. > :49:44.outmanoeuvred, he wanted to keep tag line. -- outsmarted. He knew it was

:49:45. > :49:51.going to be so hard for him to keep in front, but that was a gutsy move

:49:52. > :49:53.by the New Zealander. But it paid off.

:49:54. > :49:59.You have to have nerves of steel sometimes in the match sprint. That

:50:00. > :50:02.is why we love to watch it. Here you can just see Matt

:50:03. > :50:06.Crampton, he went up above the red line, and as he went there he gave

:50:07. > :50:10.priority to the New Zealander, and once he got under Matt Crampton, he

:50:11. > :50:15.nearly squeezed Dawkins off the track momentarily.

:50:16. > :50:19.Well, the English rider there could not only lose that road but also get

:50:20. > :50:22.a bit of warning, I feel sure, if he had held onto that line and taken

:50:23. > :50:27.the wind. He would have been relegated for that man over.

:50:28. > :50:34.It just got a little bit hairy for a moment out there, but Dawkins was

:50:35. > :50:38.not about to be intimidated, here is that incident once again. But, on

:50:39. > :50:43.the day, he was the better of the two men and safely through to the

:50:44. > :50:46.semifinals in straight rides. That certainly went to form, that

:50:47. > :50:57.result, after qualification. The next pairing are up onto the

:50:58. > :51:01.track and almost ready to go. The commissaires just looking at that

:51:02. > :51:05.incident, but as it happens it is irrelevant, anyway.

:51:06. > :51:08.Yes, had no effect on the result anyway, but had Matt Crampton been

:51:09. > :51:18.able to hold on there would have been a relegation, I am fairly sure

:51:19. > :51:19.of that. Mohd Azizulhasni Awang in the yellow against Sam Webster from

:51:20. > :51:36.New Zealand. Awang, who won Commonwealth bronze

:51:37. > :51:39.medal for years ago, he thought he had won the keirin, as well, but he

:51:40. > :51:45.was relegated for being overly aggressive in the final.

:51:46. > :51:50.In my book, he had won the keirin. He crossed the line first, fantastic

:51:51. > :51:53.ride, a massive spectacle for the crowd. He was judged to have nudged

:51:54. > :51:56.one of his opponents during the race.

:51:57. > :52:00.Well, rules are rules. It is that kind of racing the keirin, isn't

:52:01. > :52:04.it? Well, that is what it is all about.

:52:05. > :52:08.A great race to watch, whatever the result.

:52:09. > :52:14.This one is much more a game of cat and mouse between the pair of them.

:52:15. > :52:21.Here we see most riders doing the tracks stand, we don't not see this

:52:22. > :52:26.very often. -- both riders. The crowd enjoying this one, if it lasts

:52:27. > :52:31.40 odd minutes, which it used to do, they will get a slow clap. The crowd

:52:32. > :52:38.love to see it, as long as it doesn't go on for too long.

:52:39. > :52:43.Adding to the attention of the ride between these two. A reminder,

:52:44. > :52:48.Webster bleeding after the first race come if he wins this one he

:52:49. > :52:52.will be through to the semifinals. Awang, the rider in front at the

:52:53. > :52:54.moment, has to win this race. What's Awang was trying to

:52:55. > :53:01.moment, has to win this race. get the New Zealander to take up the

:53:02. > :53:06.front. There was no way the New Zealander was going to take that

:53:07. > :53:09.control. Look at Webster, buzzing Awang,

:53:10. > :53:13.flitting around at the top of the banking. Awang needing eyes on the

:53:14. > :53:17.back of this head here and he will need a little bit of a turbocharger

:53:18. > :53:21.in his legs to try and keep pace with the Kiwi, but he is giving it

:53:22. > :53:23.everything he has got. Awang on the inside, it is going to be really

:53:24. > :53:27.close between inside, it is going to be really

:53:28. > :53:30.touching as they come up towards the line and just at the end of Sam

:53:31. > :53:33.Webster making it. That was a tremendous race between the pair of

:53:34. > :53:43.them and Webster was pushed all the way.

:53:44. > :54:10.Peter Lewis. He is against Matthew Archbold.

:54:11. > :54:21.Nervous times for both of these writers now. -- riders. Just as you

:54:22. > :54:28.lead off it is all about the nerves. Just trying to fit with your

:54:29. > :54:32.opponent. Keeping an eye on both riders, we have seen Jason Kenny

:54:33. > :54:39.training on the Manchester Velodrome doing lap after lap up on his own,

:54:40. > :54:43.but not looking forward at all, just keeping his head looking backwards.

:54:44. > :54:47.This is the thing, you cannot afford to take your eye off your opponent,

:54:48. > :54:50.even if they are riding behind you. You have to keep your eye on them,

:54:51. > :54:54.make sure they do not make that move.

:54:55. > :54:59.I know, as welcome in the women's sprinting, Anna Meares has been

:55:00. > :55:03.studying NFL players and how they react and anticipate the moves being

:55:04. > :55:07.made by their opponents. She has been studying footage of that to see

:55:08. > :55:08.she can pick up anything from that. If you can anticipate what the

:55:09. > :55:11.opponent is going to do, that If you can anticipate what the

:55:12. > :55:13.really beneficial. Hopefully she does not use all of the tactics from

:55:14. > :55:19.NFL in her sprinting! does not use all of the tactics from

:55:20. > :55:24.commissaires were sold to -- will certainly come down on her like a

:55:25. > :55:26.stack of bricks. If he wins this race he will be

:55:27. > :55:29.considered -- he will be through to If he wins this race he will be

:55:30. > :55:33.complete the semifinal line-up. If he wins this race he will be

:55:34. > :55:36.Archibald has to find a way past his opponent here as they go down the

:55:37. > :55:39.back straight and at the moment it looks as if Peter Lewis has the

:55:40. > :55:44.speed to hold him off. Up towards the line it is going to be close,

:55:45. > :55:45.speed to hold him off. Up towards Archibald's point of view.

:55:46. > :55:47.speed to hold him off. Up towards Lewis from Australia is through. It

:55:48. > :55:50.speed to hold him off. Up towards is Jason Kenny, Eddie Dawkins, Sam

:55:51. > :55:59.Webster and Peter Lewis from Australia.

:56:00. > :56:04.STUDIO: Just to confirm the semifinal line-ups that will be from

:56:05. > :56:08.4pm here. Jason Kenny against Peter Lewis and

:56:09. > :56:12.the New Zealand battle in the other one, Eddie Dawkins against Sam

:56:13. > :56:15.Webster. I great performance from Jason Kenny, and, Chris, what a

:56:16. > :56:20.difference a day makes. Jason is a racer, and I think he is

:56:21. > :56:24.really starting to get into his stride now. I fancy he will make it

:56:25. > :56:29.in the final. He is just getting into his group now. Obviously his

:56:30. > :56:31.qualifying was not great but he is the Olympic champion, everyone

:56:32. > :56:35.getting on the track to race him knows that and he has that certain

:56:36. > :56:38.aura about him. That first date was really

:56:39. > :56:44.fascinating because he took it out on along run. Was that what he had

:56:45. > :56:46.to? Kent three was half a second faster in qualifying.

:56:47. > :56:50.It was not his only option, but it was his best option. He has very

:56:51. > :56:54.good acceleration and he knew he could catch him unawares. Once the

:56:55. > :56:57.gap is that size you are not getting any benefit with the slipstream and

:56:58. > :57:02.it is a horrible place to be, I have been there a couple of times myself

:57:03. > :57:06.in a World Championship. Foster did that to me in a World Championships

:57:07. > :57:11.in 2010, three full laps, it is not much fun if you are chasing.

:57:12. > :57:14.I guess, Sarah, because he was a much slower jihad to do something a

:57:15. > :57:18.little bit different. He had to try and catch his opponent

:57:19. > :57:21.unawares, get himself back into the front foot. He was Olympic champion

:57:22. > :57:26.and he was on the back foot from qualification. By quality is so much

:57:27. > :57:31.a part of the Sprint matches, you have do psychologically be on the

:57:32. > :57:35.best form, as well as physically. 1-0 to Jason, this was what happened

:57:36. > :57:39.in the second heat. We all fancied Glaetzer to take it to three. Jason

:57:40. > :57:45.was very canny. I think it rattled him. He was maybe

:57:46. > :57:50.thinking ahead thinking, I will still get through, 2-1, but it that

:57:51. > :57:53.is an extra ride on my legs. As soon as you start thinking beyond the

:57:54. > :57:57.quarterfinals it can be a mistake and Jason just caught him.

:57:58. > :58:04.Rob Hayles was saying and commentary he has his model back, would you

:58:05. > :58:09.agree? -- in the commentary, that he has his model back.

:58:10. > :58:11.Absolutely. The more pressurised the environment from the better the

:58:12. > :58:15.performance. When he hopefully gets to the final, we have the semifinals

:58:16. > :58:18.first... That small matter of beating the

:58:19. > :58:24.Aussie, who looked very good, Peter Lewis, who disposed of Archibald in

:58:25. > :58:28.two straight rides, you would not want to put money on anyone winning

:58:29. > :58:33.at this stage, it will be so close. The semifinals at 4pm, Jason, back

:58:34. > :58:37.to you. Jonathan, thank you very much

:58:38. > :58:40.indeed, a beautiful day here in Glasgow and the sport continues...

:58:41. > :58:47.Forget committees on BBC Three and also available online. Of course,

:58:48. > :58:52.full coverage on BBC Radio 5 Live. That is just about it here on BBC

:58:53. > :58:57.One, but do join us on BBC Two in a few minutes, we will be paying our

:58:58. > :59:03.first visit to the Barry Buddon Shooting Centre and all eyes on the

:59:04. > :59:04.20-year-old Welsh sharpshooter Coral Kennerley. Goodbye for now.
