:00:47. > :00:56.to Glasgow. 31 gold medals up for grabs here at the Commonwealth

:00:57. > :00:59.Games, this is what is coming up. We are heading across the river to the

:01:00. > :01:02.Hydro to see the climax of the men's team final of the artistic

:01:03. > :01:08.gymnastics, will England pick Scotland to the gold medal? And the

:01:09. > :01:11.noisy neighbours next door will be going at it again inside the SECC as

:01:12. > :01:20.England's Reece McFadden and Northern Ireland's Rory Dodds have

:01:21. > :01:26.big fight in the last eight. Plenty of other sport, and BBC Three it is

:01:27. > :01:32.the badminton. And on the red button you can watch live coverage of the

:01:33. > :01:38.artistic gymnastics that we are talking about this afternoon.

:01:39. > :01:39.Meanwhile, on the BBC Sport website, lots of great sport to look forward

:01:40. > :02:03.to. So to the gymnastics in a moment,

:02:04. > :02:09.but first the headlines. Defending 110 metres hurdles champion Andi

:02:10. > :02:15.Taylor is out after clattering the first two hurdles of his heat.

:02:16. > :02:22.Eilidh Child breezed through the first 400m hurdles heat. Andrew

:02:23. > :02:25.Osagie is disqualified from the men's 800 metres heats after coming

:02:26. > :02:29.together at the finish with friend and training partner Joe Thomas.

:02:30. > :02:41.England are expected to launch an appeal. A Canadian 1-2 at the

:02:42. > :02:47.mountain biking, Catharine Pendrel conquering the course to take gold.

:02:48. > :02:52.And Sam Oldham has suffered a severe ankle injury in a dismount and left

:02:53. > :02:58.the arena in a wheelchair, but English gymnasts are on course to

:02:59. > :03:02.secure gold inside the Hydro. I am delighted to say that Beth Tweddle

:03:03. > :03:07.is with me in the studio as we go over the Hydro later to look at the

:03:08. > :03:10.men's team final in the artistic gymnastics. I have to talk to you

:03:11. > :03:15.about Sam Oldham's injury, it looks really bad. You can see on the

:03:16. > :03:20.replay that when he landed awkwardly on his ankle, the coaching team were

:03:21. > :03:24.straight on to make sure he was OK. Yes, he came in a little bit short,

:03:25. > :03:28.all the impact was on his left ankle, so the medical staff and

:03:29. > :03:31.coaches were straight to him. Obviously, we will just let them do

:03:32. > :03:37.their assessments and wait for the verdict. We can see what happens, it

:03:38. > :03:41.looks like a twisted ankle, the coaching team straight on. It is

:03:42. > :03:46.really unfortunate, he has just come back from injury, making his form

:03:47. > :03:52.and has been having a great Games, so we have just got to leave them,

:03:53. > :03:56.and luckily we have got that depth of strength in the English team to

:03:57. > :04:00.carry on the competition without him. So disappointing, given he had

:04:01. > :04:05.hurt his ankle is at the World Championships. It is devastating for

:04:06. > :04:08.any athlete, he has done all the preparation to be here, he is in

:04:09. > :04:12.great form, and there's nothing you can say that will make him feel

:04:13. > :04:17.better. We have just got to wait to see what the final verdict is on

:04:18. > :04:22.that ankle. A fantastic arena, fantastic crowds as well, because

:04:23. > :04:26.the fans have been queueing up - for British gymnastics, it is a big

:04:27. > :04:33.thing. It has been flying high recently, with the Europeans, 25

:04:34. > :04:37.medals, and Nile Wilson making his debut in the senior competition, Max

:04:38. > :04:41.Whitlock, European champion, so many people to support, then Daniel

:04:42. > :04:44.Purvis, Daniel Keatings on the Scottish team, Adam Cox, a previous

:04:45. > :04:51.Commonwealth medallist. So many to watch. Across to the Hydro, a

:04:52. > :04:54.terrific venue, fantastic atmosphere, the newest landmark on

:04:55. > :04:59.the riverside with a full Olympic size gymnastics layout, it is also

:05:00. > :05:02.hosting the boxing and netball finals. We can join the commentary?

:05:03. > :05:07.Matt Baker, Mitch Fenner and Christine Still.

:05:08. > :05:17.-- the commentary team of Matt Baker.

:05:18. > :05:20.So there is the list of Canadians. That will change, because Louis

:05:21. > :05:25.Smith is going to have to go on parallel bars. He will be first up,

:05:26. > :05:32.as you can see, now that Sam Oldham is out of the arena. And the high

:05:33. > :05:35.bar. And the high bar as well, it is three scores that count. I think he

:05:36. > :05:41.will have a swing, why not? He can work it. When I spoke to him, he

:05:42. > :05:46.said he had not been on the high bar in the lead up to the competition,

:05:47. > :05:53.so it will be very interesting. Yeah, time will tell, will he go out

:05:54. > :05:57.and have a couple of long swings and back away? They will probably decide

:05:58. > :06:06.after the first three work. A couple of long swings and back away! So

:06:07. > :06:14.Liam Davie for Scotland, the City of Glasgow club. Globe out nice

:06:15. > :06:23.flourish with one arm, leisurely, easy approach to his swimming. Very

:06:24. > :06:30.clean, keeping the swing, guaranteeing the release. Another

:06:31. > :06:41.one coming up! Oh, and Evie lead didn't get across the bar for

:06:42. > :06:43.rotation. -- and he really didn't. This is very, very brave to

:06:44. > :06:59.continue. Showing very good technique, here is

:07:00. > :07:03.the wind-up. He made the dismount, but what part of the body made

:07:04. > :07:09.contact? It was certainly the upper chest and neck area. He pulled in on

:07:10. > :07:14.the release and cost to close. Oh, that will have taken the wind out of

:07:15. > :07:20.the sails, and didn't he do well to continue and land the dismount

:07:21. > :07:21.safely? Fantastic, actually it was a really good routine, big style.

:07:22. > :07:28.Well, Louis Smith, they need really good routine, big style.

:07:29. > :07:33.now! Parallel bars, I assume he has worked this. When he started his

:07:34. > :07:35.comeback, he said, I am just here to do the pommel horse, but he needs to

:07:36. > :07:49.make sure of his place in the team. There will be some deductions, but

:07:50. > :07:51.not as many as if he had fallen off. He is a gritty competitor, lovely

:07:52. > :08:06.line in the handstand as well. Smooth swing turn, very efficient.

:08:07. > :08:16.The front somersault. He is living with the times.

:08:17. > :08:22.Just one more bit, just the landing, wonder. From Louis Smith!

:08:23. > :08:27.He answered the call in the moment of need. Well, the England team

:08:28. > :08:31.would certainly have been shaken by the fact that Sam Oldham has left

:08:32. > :08:36.the area and the arena, but Louis Smith, well, what a job for England!

:08:37. > :08:41.Just that slight hesitation at the start, but afterwards he got this

:08:42. > :08:46.new lazy style into the swing, and that was really good to see. He

:08:47. > :08:53.really is taking this very, very seriously and has produced a good

:08:54. > :08:58.routine. Still no news on Sam Oldham, but it has got to be

:08:59. > :09:10.ligament damage, maybe a fracture. 12.133, Liam Davie.

:09:11. > :09:15.Scotland's bid for a first ever team silver at the Commonwealth Games

:09:16. > :09:20.continues now with Daniel Purvis on high bar. He was fourth at the

:09:21. > :09:30.British Championships earlier this year. Dan, of course, a member of

:09:31. > :09:33.the worlds most exclusive club, very few in it, showing his work on the

:09:34. > :09:51.start. Very quick through the Rybalko but

:09:52. > :09:58.was laid on the catch. One and a half turns, so the second half of

:09:59. > :10:04.the routine makes good some of the problems with the first. He will

:10:05. > :10:08.need a good one, the double-double, and once again the second half of

:10:09. > :10:19.the routine saves the routine. Well, they will stay ahead of Canada.

:10:20. > :10:24.Again, a little bit of an edgy performance. 14.133 for Louis

:10:25. > :10:32.Smith, that is a good score on the parallel bars. 8.2 execution, he is

:10:33. > :10:38.back with style, isn't he? I'm not just talking about the hairdo! It is

:10:39. > :10:47.good to see him. Yeah, I wonder if I could do a hairdo like that. I

:10:48. > :10:54.wouldn't try it, Mitch! The image has completely floored you, hasn't

:10:55. > :10:58.it, Matt? Well, Max Whitlock has been so impressive all the way

:10:59. > :11:06.round, let's just enjoy his parallel bars. Locks out nicely.

:11:07. > :11:14.I will tell you what, he is on a roll.

:11:15. > :11:22.He has to be in perfect here. The pirouette sorted, there we are,

:11:23. > :11:28.plenty of room to set that up, nice and high and clean.

:11:29. > :11:53.Healey, he dropped the hips but did well. Out Keogh what art. -- out to

:11:54. > :11:57.one bar. Double pike, just a stiff back, and really he has been

:11:58. > :12:02.consistent all the way through. He has this remarkable ability just to

:12:03. > :12:07.adapt his body and almost his style to each piece of apparatus, soft and

:12:08. > :12:12.flowing when he needs to be, attacking at the right time.

:12:13. > :12:26.Dan Purvis, then, 13.833 for high bar. The scores have been quite

:12:27. > :12:32.tight on high bar today. Very. They genuinely are, and they have been

:12:33. > :12:42.today. The 19-year-old, very good athlete and parallel bars. -- on.

:12:43. > :12:46.Tall, elegant gymnast. Can be stunning on this apparatus, and that

:12:47. > :12:53.was a good start. Watch closely here, super Tkatchev. Here we go

:12:54. > :12:54.again, was a good start. Watch closely

:12:55. > :12:56.here, super Tkatchev. Here we go the straddle Tkatchev, all the really

:12:57. > :13:02.here, super Tkatchev. Here we go the straddle exciting work. Smooth

:13:03. > :13:05.squats dislocation into the handstand with half turn. The

:13:06. > :13:09.Tkatchev with half turn, very smooth. This is lovely work, needs

:13:10. > :13:24.to keep his concentration. The dislocated swing, you can see

:13:25. > :13:30.the shoulders endo. Accelerating up into the air, one twist, one great

:13:31. > :13:35.landing. Frank Baines, very impressed. Well, he is proving to be

:13:36. > :13:41.a very valuable member of Team Scotland today. He is having a good

:13:42. > :13:46.day! Brilliant day! And he looks just like the gymnast who came out

:13:47. > :13:53.here yesterday, a bit overwrought, a bit stunned by it, knows what he is

:13:54. > :14:00.coming to today. Well, Max, with 14.5, huge parallel bars score, and

:14:01. > :14:06.yet another individual final for Max. And he needs just over 14 for a

:14:07. > :14:12.19 all-round score, that is incredible. This is the first time

:14:13. > :14:15.that Nile Wilson hasn't been out first, with the men for Great

:14:16. > :14:33.Britain, England I should say. Oh, lovely half turn. And to one

:14:34. > :14:38.rail, you know, he was a junior a few weeks ago, and this is just

:14:39. > :14:43.incredible. On the senior stage, to produce work like this!

:14:44. > :15:08.An incredible performance. He is starting to really enjoyed it.

:15:09. > :15:16.Yesterday, he said he was starting to feel the pressure. Now, he is

:15:17. > :15:20.feeding off it. I introduced him by saying Great

:15:21. > :15:24.Britain but surely that is a flash of the future. He has got to be

:15:25. > :15:29.selected. The selectors will be watching.

:15:30. > :15:39.It was a strong decision to bring him into this team, there were a lot

:15:40. > :15:45.of others left at home. Frank and Nile have come through the

:15:46. > :16:07.ranks together. Daniel Keatings, for the high bar.

:16:08. > :16:20.It has always -- he has always been one of my favourite gymnasts to

:16:21. > :16:30.watch. He deserves to do well here, in front of his home crowd.

:16:31. > :16:38.With his own coach on the floor with him. Coach to Louis Smith as well.

:16:39. > :16:58.One thing is for sure, people like you. -- he will fly here.

:16:59. > :17:03.There is a huge roar from the crowd, the last gymnast up on high

:17:04. > :17:26.bar, for Scotland. A smooth start. Good acceleration.

:17:27. > :17:36.The big release, a full turn in the double back. Smoothly in. A little

:17:37. > :17:44.off-line. But he recovered while. The Tkatchev with a half turn. He is

:17:45. > :17:50.going for broke here. Squats out into a good, straight line. He is

:17:51. > :17:58.very stylish. A gymnast who likes to be perfect in his performance. We

:17:59. > :18:03.just need a big dismount, concentrate. A full twist. What a

:18:04. > :18:08.delight. A superb performance for Scotland.

:18:09. > :18:16.And great from the individual perspective as well.

:18:17. > :18:27.He was actually smiling before he hit the deck. A terrific

:18:28. > :18:32.performance, a great finish. The pressure is slowly easing now.

:18:33. > :19:05.Nile Wilson. Scott Morgan for Canada.

:19:06. > :19:20.A big floor and fault man. Plenty of attack. Oh, yes. -- vault. A full

:19:21. > :19:26.twist and straight front. Massive vault. Look how clean,

:19:27. > :19:50.straight down the middle. He is the second-highest Scott

:19:51. > :20:06.defined -- behind Frank Baines. Clay now.

:20:07. > :20:25.Double front. The question is Werther freaked down first -- world

:20:26. > :20:40.the feet? If not, it will be a zero. Let us have a closer look.

:20:41. > :21:11.I think he will get away with that. Just about.

:21:12. > :21:18.Is Louis Smith going to have a go, it doesn't look like it.

:21:19. > :21:21.I think Sam would have been laughed up on high bar. If they have had

:21:22. > :21:37.three people go through, they will not bother.

:21:38. > :21:46.That will turn into a 206 five plus total, they are world-class.

:21:47. > :22:02.It just remains to see who will be taking that bronze medal place.

:22:03. > :22:06.Whether Australia will get in there. England are untouchable, there is no

:22:07. > :22:14.way that Scotland can catch them. That was a big school.

:22:15. > :22:21.-- score. Look at the difference, eight marks clear. Scotland, then

:22:22. > :22:25.Canada, Australia. Canada have a cushion as well.

:22:26. > :22:32.They will have to go badly to pieces for Australia to catch them.

:22:33. > :22:38.It looks like another gold medal heading to team England.

:22:39. > :22:45.The big story is Australia are in fourth and may miss out on a medal.

:22:46. > :22:49.Australia have been struggling for the past couple of years in men's

:22:50. > :22:55.gymnastics. The girls side didn't even send any

:22:56. > :23:00.gymnasts to the 20 13th World Championship, they were ready. It

:23:01. > :23:06.may be a different story. -- 2013. You talk about the strength

:23:07. > :23:11.and depth of England, they have been remarkably consistent.

:23:12. > :23:18.They have constituency, difficulty, they have everything. They are eight

:23:19. > :23:23.marks ahead of Scotland. They are too strong.

:23:24. > :23:27.Before we started the Commonwealth Games, you were talking about

:23:28. > :23:32.Scottish gymnastics, and the state of British gymnastics. You said the

:23:33. > :23:37.noisy Scottish crowd would roar them on to victory but not even they can

:23:38. > :23:42.do that. England are too far ahead, there is

:23:43. > :23:45.nothing Scotland can do except save that silver medal. They have never

:23:46. > :23:49.had a team basil so they will be over the moon. It is a boost for

:23:50. > :24:10.Scottish gymnastics. -- team medal. They have no leeway with three men.

:24:11. > :24:15.That is what we are used to seeing in finals.

:24:16. > :24:23.They had to do it in qualifying in the Europeans, they can cope with

:24:24. > :24:39.it. This is the last piece of apparatus.

:24:40. > :25:05.Just the top three. Oldham macro is out, we still have not heard --

:25:06. > :25:26.Oldham. They will have taken him to the

:25:27. > :25:31.hospital straight away. Without a doubt. I won't imagine they will

:25:32. > :25:40.release any information until they are sure.

:25:41. > :25:52.You said he had his eye on the Japanese gymnast who is out of this

:25:53. > :25:57.world, of the scale. When you have a target like that, you leave the rest

:25:58. > :26:05.of the world behind, even if you are in second place. The only manned

:26:06. > :26:20.collection man to top 93 as a total -- the only man. That is staggering.

:26:21. > :26:31.Enjoying a slow motion Mexican wave which has caught Louis Smith's I.

:26:32. > :26:40.He has finished his job, done his bit for the team now.

:26:41. > :26:49.Interestingly, Louis Smith is the seventh highest parallel bars

:26:50. > :26:59.school. -- score. That would be his only final. Nile Wilson gets a shot

:27:00. > :27:06.at the parallel bars. Now, Adam Cox. A 5.2 difficulty.

:27:07. > :27:13.This could be the last performance we ever see from Adam Cox, he could

:27:14. > :27:18.well retire after this. He powers down, a precise slip,

:27:19. > :27:30.double twist. Really delighted to have landed that. -- flip. He has

:27:31. > :27:35.really performed well today. He has dug deep for the team.

:27:36. > :27:39.He punched his way through the twist. He had to tuck his legs in.

:27:40. > :27:49.Then he stretched out to make the double turn. Celebration!

:27:50. > :28:10.Let us sit back and be impressed because this will be something.

:28:11. > :28:27.Oh, yes. He put the half turn in. A good release. A little bit wild. A

:28:28. > :28:33.full turn setting up. Keeping the swing pure. That is better.

:28:34. > :28:46.Easy through. A round and a half turn.

:28:47. > :28:54.Changing the shape. Here comes the dismount. That will do nicely. A

:28:55. > :29:02.little step forward. A twisting double. What a competition.

:29:03. > :29:05.Just outstanding. We will see him tomorrow in the competition. I

:29:06. > :29:09.cannot wait. He has looked on fire these last two

:29:10. > :29:25.days. He is so focused and driven. Lytwyn of Canada on the parallel

:29:26. > :29:33.bars. A very powerful gymnast. That was

:29:34. > :29:42.good height, good left. Going smoothly up to the handstand. Nicely

:29:43. > :29:48.done with the full turn on one arm. And backwards as well. A super

:29:49. > :30:05.height on the front somersault. loss of leg form on that swing turn,

:30:06. > :30:13.and none on the double pike. He is delighted with that, keeping

:30:14. > :30:23.Canadian hopes alive. Adam Cox, 14.066. Looking secure in silver

:30:24. > :30:26.medal position. Team Scotland, 5.2 difficulty this, then, Dan

:30:27. > :30:44.Keatings. Opting for the double twist, yeah,

:30:45. > :30:50.easily done! A pace back to bring it under control, but well done, and

:30:51. > :30:57.they love it. Yes, we will see Dan in the all-around. And a bit of a

:30:58. > :31:00.while since we have seen many all-around competition is from

:31:01. > :31:09.Daniel Keatings, great to see him finish that six pieces with a very

:31:10. > :31:14.confident double twisting Tsukahara. Not the start score of

:31:15. > :31:26.song, just out of 5.2, so not massively into the 15s with it, but

:31:27. > :31:33.a good, solid vault. You see the little divider in Max's bag, little

:31:34. > :31:43.compartments. 14.766, yes, he wraps up his bandages and puts them in one

:31:44. > :31:51.section. Nile Wilson. He is rounding off his competition on high bar.

:31:52. > :32:00.A young man that... Oh, plenty of height on the flight, good, straight

:32:01. > :32:02.arms on the swing. Good through the Coleman, kept his knees together,

:32:03. > :32:11.quite a task. Rybalko, one and a half turns,

:32:12. > :32:30.nicely, nicely done. through the junior ranks they really

:32:31. > :32:43.have technique hammered into them, and he is showing it well here.

:32:44. > :32:54.The deep pike out to set up the dismount, and tiny little

:32:55. > :33:01.adjustments. Oh, I am a senior gymnast, and watch me go! Nile

:33:02. > :33:07.Wilson, the penultimate gymnast for England, and that, without question,

:33:08. > :33:12.has sealed it for England. They will take gold. Scotland, 14.133 for Dan

:33:13. > :33:20.Keatings, that will secure silver for them. So Frank Baines can enjoy

:33:21. > :33:26.this a little bit. He must still focus, though, a 5.6 difficulty. And

:33:27. > :33:49.he has been very secure today. He needs a good strong vault. Two

:33:50. > :33:53.and a half twists, half turn on the Tsukahara with two and a half

:33:54. > :33:59.twists, it is going to be a bit of a battle for the finals with these

:34:00. > :34:05.guys. Oh, yes! Just a nonchalant step to the side, yeah, good news

:34:06. > :34:13.for Scotland, it is silver for them, first time ever in 18 final. He

:34:14. > :34:21.looks delighted, doesn't he? Nile Wilson, 14.8. 6.2 difficulty, for

:34:22. > :34:27.someone who was a junior a couple of weeks ago! Hello, World

:34:28. > :34:35.Championships, he should get a T-shirt with that written on. Well,

:34:36. > :34:41.the job of rounding off England's competition falls to Kristian

:34:42. > :34:49.Thomas. It will be the first time since 2002 that England have won

:34:50. > :34:50.this team, dish and. -- this team competition. And you couldn't have a

:34:51. > :34:57.nicer bloke to be finishing competition. And you couldn't have a

:34:58. > :35:01.it for you. And he is on song. Dreamlike in his execution, long

:35:02. > :35:07.lines, look at this, full turn, plenty of time! He have to struggle

:35:08. > :35:11.a little bit, but you have to admire him.

:35:12. > :35:27.Tkatchev with half turn, keeps the swing pure and simple.

:35:28. > :35:44.And here it comes, stand it up, that will do! Oh! Fantastic! The ever

:35:45. > :35:50.reliable Kristian Thomas does the job for Team England, they will take

:35:51. > :35:56.gold! And what a thoroughly deserved the Finnish there. He is really the

:35:57. > :36:00.backbone of the team these past years. The national coach, who is

:36:01. > :36:09.one of the Russian coaches that have come, they have really moulded into

:36:10. > :36:12.the British system. His personal coach, Scott, is the other coach on

:36:13. > :36:21.the floor. What a great job they have done, how well to focus once

:36:22. > :36:22.Sam got hurt. Frank Baines, 14.566, certainly good enough for silver for

:36:23. > :36:45.Scotland. So the job of gaining bonus marks

:36:46. > :36:55.goes to Dan Purvis. Parallel bars, pommel horse, and others to contend

:36:56. > :37:01.with over the next few days. Dan Purvis focuses in on the vault.

:37:02. > :37:10.Precise, lovely height, two and a half twists, and he makes it look as

:37:11. > :37:14.easy as can be! He almost does that as a crowd-pleaser, doesn't he? He

:37:15. > :37:19.waved to the crowd almost as part of his landing. Oh, he will be

:37:20. > :37:24.delighted, and so we should be, a great team effort. You know, they

:37:25. > :37:31.were under a lot of pressure to hang on to the coat-tails, I suppose, of

:37:32. > :37:37.England. Lagat this! Two and a half twists, little bit of centre, but

:37:38. > :37:41.who cares? -- look at this. A good way to wrap up your team effort and

:37:42. > :37:45.your individual challenge, Dan Purvis, very popular young man,

:37:46. > :37:54.quiet, unassuming, but hugely talented.

:37:55. > :38:08.Look at that. You see, this is important, again, 15.033, good job,

:38:09. > :38:13.Kristian Thomas, very good job, Team England. And our thoughts are with

:38:14. > :38:18.some old at the moment, who somewhere is having an X-ray. -- Sam

:38:19. > :38:31.Oldham. Well, Canada are holding onto that

:38:32. > :38:37.bronze medal position. On parallel bars, this is Scott Morgan. They

:38:38. > :38:40.have done well to keep their focus with all this racket going on for

:38:41. > :38:44.Scotland and England! This is lovely. Lots of good work on

:38:45. > :38:49.parallel bars at this competition, it is not an easy piece. Oh, that is

:38:50. > :39:09.lovely. Healy with his hips well out, this

:39:10. > :39:17.is good technique from him. Oh, and what a pity! The wheels can fall off

:39:18. > :39:24.at the most unlikely place. He just slightly overcooked that, didn't he?

:39:25. > :39:28.He seemed to explode, basically. What a disappointment for him, it

:39:29. > :39:34.was going really well, some lovely stuff. Very difficult skill to

:39:35. > :39:41.negotiate. But you need to carry on. There is the double pike.

:39:42. > :39:59.Good enough for bronze, Nathan Gafuik scores 13.533.

:40:00. > :40:08.Oh, yes, goodness me, after that horrendous high bar incident, I am

:40:09. > :40:14.sure he is absolutely feeling it. We will try to get a chat, find out.

:40:15. > :40:21.But 14.833 secures and confirms that Scotland take a silver medal and

:40:22. > :40:26.make history for the first time ever, a team medal at the

:40:27. > :40:30.Commonwealth Games. Paul has been in charge and looking after the

:40:31. > :40:36.Scottish team. Usually his job is to contend with the British team here,

:40:37. > :40:41.just consoling Liam. It is worth saying that all three teams in the

:40:42. > :40:47.medal positions, one of them England, 250, 260, it would be worth

:40:48. > :40:53.looking at whether the English score has beaten the British score at the

:40:54. > :40:57.Europeans. They have been hugely impressive, Mitch, haven't they?

:40:58. > :41:03.Sort of solid, mentally solid. And to lose what was potentially one of

:41:04. > :41:09.your highest scoring gymnasts and still produce a score like that,

:41:10. > :41:12.three quarters of the way round, remarkable. Absolutely remarkable,

:41:13. > :41:23.and Team Scotland, Team Scotland, then, take silver! For the first

:41:24. > :41:29.time in Commonwealth Games history, Gymnastics Scotland take a team of

:41:30. > :41:32.silver! Adam Lanza every bit of this, doesn't he? He has sort of

:41:33. > :41:38.been there every bit of the way through, seen the days when there

:41:39. > :41:44.was no chance for Scotland. Great moment for

:41:45. > :41:56.Dan Purvis, the two Dans, Frank Baines as well. Welcome to the world

:41:57. > :42:01.of selection to the British team. It is going to be a tough choice! From

:42:02. > :42:13.one to another, they are all world-class. What a team!

:42:14. > :42:26.There is your bronze medallists. And a bit of a story with Australia, you

:42:27. > :42:34.know, not a single medal for the Australian men. They will put that

:42:35. > :42:41.right with the women, won't they? They were not massively impressive

:42:42. > :42:47.last night, they are lying second, but they will have to do the job.

:42:48. > :42:51.Confirmation, then, that England are Commonwealth Games champions ahead

:42:52. > :42:55.of Scotland, who take silver, making history, the first time ever that

:42:56. > :42:57.Scotland have had a medal at the team Jaguar jets in the Commonwealth

:42:58. > :42:57.Games. Scotland have had a medal at the

:42:58. > :43:03.team Jaguar jets in the Canada take bronze, Australia out of the medals

:43:04. > :43:09.in fourth. Wales fifth, a solid, strong performance from them, ahead

:43:10. > :43:15.of New Zealand in sixth. Max, Commonwealth team gold, how

:43:16. > :43:17.does that feel? It is amazing, there is still another competition at

:43:18. > :43:23.this, so we're just waiting to see we can put in a good score, come

:43:24. > :43:29.together and prepare for this. In front of a crowd like this, it is

:43:30. > :43:32.amazing. We have seen you congratulating the Scottish team,

:43:33. > :43:36.you train with those guys, what has it been like to put one over on

:43:37. > :43:40.them? It is very different, these are guys who are friends and

:43:41. > :43:44.team-mates, and it is interesting, a bit of fun training with them and

:43:45. > :43:49.against them, and they have done a great job, and hopefully they can

:43:50. > :43:53.come out on top. At that point back row when you landed from the high

:43:54. > :43:58.bar, you looks like you knew you had nailed it. Yeah, I mean, there was a

:43:59. > :44:03.lot of pressure going last on high bar, such high-pressure apparatus,

:44:04. > :44:06.and I just wanted to get through the routine cleanly and finish the

:44:07. > :44:08.competition for the lads, because we have been training so hard,

:44:09. > :44:11.competition for the lads, because we have been training so you know, for

:44:12. > :44:16.the whole team and Sam as well. You had to wait whilst I was injured

:44:17. > :44:22.before you could do your vault, how hard was that? Any news? Not yet, he

:44:23. > :44:26.has gone to be assessed, we don't know what the situation is yet, but

:44:27. > :44:33.we wish him all the best, I am pretty sure he will be fine in a

:44:34. > :44:37.couple of weeks. Your first senior competition, what a way to do it?

:44:38. > :44:41.Yes, it has been unbelievable, the whole experience, the village first

:44:42. > :44:47.has been a supportive environment and this at faecesing I have never

:44:48. > :44:50.experienced anything like it. It looked very comfortable, well done

:44:51. > :44:54.and Lewis, you came in and said you had a lot to prove coming back to

:44:55. > :44:59.competition, do you think you have answered your critics? I think so.

:45:00. > :45:02.Today has been a brilliant experience, despite what happened to

:45:03. > :45:10.Sam, we had to concentrate on what we needed to do and put pressure on

:45:11. > :45:13.us, but we did the job and we have had fun, we love the Commonwealth

:45:14. > :45:23.Games, it has been a great experience. Well done. And a

:45:24. > :45:29.fantastic performance, but we have got to focus on Max Whitlock, the

:45:30. > :45:36.first time he has broken 90 in his career. What a time to do it.

:45:37. > :45:45.Unbelievable for the guys, to score plus 90, that is on a world level.

:45:46. > :45:49.Max is looking towards Reo and he will take confidence from that. Here

:45:50. > :45:54.are some of the highlights from Max. Earlier these year he said of his

:45:55. > :45:58.desire to make 90 points. He said it is important, because it puts him up

:45:59. > :46:04.there with the rest of the world. He is spot on. Yes he know what is he

:46:05. > :46:08.wants out of his career and he is so focussed, you see him in training,

:46:09. > :46:16.he gets his job done and he gets out. But that vault, it is an

:46:17. > :46:23.incredible vault and his high bar, he has upgraded that, that was known

:46:24. > :46:27.as one of his weaker pieces. But as an all-round gymnast you don't have

:46:28. > :46:32.a weak past. What is he like? He is a lovely kid. As a competitor? He is

:46:33. > :46:37.one that you don't want to go up against. He is consistent and he

:46:38. > :46:40.loves it. As soon as he gets in front of the crowd and he has

:46:41. > :46:45.Olympic and world and Commonwealth Games experience he know what is it

:46:46. > :46:51.takes to be on the rostrum. He has been talking about being right up

:46:52. > :47:02.there with the best, how good is he? I saw him as a junior in 2010 and he

:47:03. > :47:07.had something special and his lines within gymnastics, they're just

:47:08. > :47:10.incredible. He has that attention to every detail. He is not just happy

:47:11. > :47:14.to go through a routine. He wants to go through a routine with

:47:15. > :47:20.perfection. That is what you need to be at the top. The viewers are

:47:21. > :47:32.loving Max. He is trending on Twitter and has a flock of new

:47:33. > :47:40.female followers. Earlier he hadn't made a thousand Voller -- followers.

:47:41. > :47:45.But now it has rocketed. Well done to Max and Team England. A silver

:47:46. > :47:52.for Scotland. Let's hear from them. Dan, you look you came and did a

:47:53. > :48:00.good job? Yes, we thought we had the potential, we were hoping to be the

:48:01. > :48:08.first team to get a medal and we have a silver. What was your

:48:09. > :48:12.experience? It has been fantastic, coming out of retirement, the crowd

:48:13. > :48:17.was unbelievable. Js to be part of the team, these boys are so good,

:48:18. > :48:28.I'm honoured to be part of it and so pleased we did so well. It is

:48:29. > :48:33.deafening, there was a roar, from the crowd, what was that like, after

:48:34. > :48:38.coming back from a broken back? Obvious ly, the crowd helps you.

:48:39. > :48:44.They keep on cheering you, no matter what happens, you can have a fall,

:48:45. > :48:51.but they stir you back on to do a clean routine. It gives you a lot of

:48:52. > :48:55.energy and focus. We saw you grimacing, were you disappointed at

:48:56. > :49:01.times? Yes, I was disappointed, because I wanted to come out and do

:49:02. > :49:05.some clean routines for my first major Championships, I cannot be too

:49:06. > :49:09.disappointed, I'm in with a great team and the guys have done well and

:49:10. > :49:19.to be part of a silver medal winning team for the first time in Scottish

:49:20. > :49:25.history is amazing. You have done brilliantly and Dan, pipped to it by

:49:26. > :49:29.your Team GB team mates? Yes, they're a strong team. But before

:49:30. > :49:34.coming out, we wanted to get that team medal and that is what we did.

:49:35. > :49:38.To compete on home soil it was so much fun. I really enjoyed it. It

:49:39. > :49:42.felt like a flash back to the Olympics. You were saying there is a

:49:43. > :49:46.lot of bant we are the English team who, will take home the bragging

:49:47. > :49:51.rights, do you think it will be unbearable? I don't think so, we are

:49:52. > :49:56.all friends and training together has been fun. It has been a

:49:57. > :50:02.different experience and pushes that much further and we enjoyed it. Well

:50:03. > :50:07.done. I bet the English team will be telling the Scotland team all about

:50:08. > :50:12.that. It is an amazing storey, Scotland have been on the front and

:50:13. > :50:17.back pages of newspapers, but this is a remarkable story, because

:50:18. > :50:26.Scotland didn't enter a team in 2010. Yes it is history and Delhi

:50:27. > :50:31.they didn't even send a Teme team. A-- a team. In 2002 they didn't have

:50:32. > :50:38.a chance of a medal. They weren't in that mind set. They were going do

:50:39. > :50:43.their own personal bit. And great to see Daniel Keatings back? Yes the

:50:44. > :50:47.fact he has finished that and hopefully will be in the all-round

:50:48. > :50:54.final and he has a couple of other finals. The pommel final will be

:50:55. > :50:59.exciting. That is the men's team and now the women's team final. Who is

:51:00. > :51:05.your money on? England are going in with a 1.5 mark lead and if they can

:51:06. > :51:09.keep it waum and -- calm and steady, we should take the gold. But you

:51:10. > :51:12.never know and the crowd will be cheering the England team on. Do you

:51:13. > :51:16.wish you were there? I watched them yesterday and I raced back to see

:51:17. > :51:22.bars and I thought I would feel a bit, oh, I wish I was there, but I

:51:23. > :51:28.thought, great for them, I am glad I haven't had to do all that work! And

:51:29. > :51:37.the team is in such a healthy state. That has made my job to step aside

:51:38. > :51:52.easier. Thank you. Beth won gold in Manchester in 2002 at the age of 17.

:51:53. > :52:00.This is her story. For me, gymnastics was the closest I was

:52:01. > :52:05.going to get to flying. I was very shy at school, but as soon as I

:52:06. > :52:13.stepped out on to the gymnastics floor, that shyness disappeared and

:52:14. > :52:19.I came into my own. As a young kid, I think I was a nightmare. I had far

:52:20. > :52:25.too much energy. I wanted to be moving, I didn't want to just sit

:52:26. > :52:32.and watch TV and my mum thought, what are we going to do to channel

:52:33. > :52:35.this energy? I wouldn't say I was naturally talented, I could do some

:52:36. > :52:39.of the stuff and I picked up things, but I was willing to work and I

:52:40. > :52:45.loved the challenge. If somebody said you would never do that, it was

:52:46. > :52:51.a case of, I will show you I can do that. You can tell where your feet

:52:52. > :52:56.come off. For the first year, I just did it for fun and went on a couple

:52:57. > :53:01.of times a week and then the coaches sort of said, we like what we see

:53:02. > :53:05.here, we would love her to go to the elite side and that is when it

:53:06. > :53:11.became serious and I started doing five days a week, 20 hours a week

:53:12. > :53:16.and to be hobbest -- honest if school wasn't in the way I would

:53:17. > :53:22.have been there 24/7. Do not miss the chalk. One thing. However much

:53:23. > :53:30.you had a shower, it was still in your hands. I was never a kid that

:53:31. > :53:35.dreamt of becoming a big jibbing nas, I just -- gymnast, I just

:53:36. > :53:48.wanting the challenge and the results just kept getting better and

:53:49. > :53:53.better. I did the Europeans in April and then there was the Commonwealth

:53:54. > :53:58.Games throughout the summer of 2002. Obviously all eyes had been on this,

:53:59. > :54:05.it was going to be in Manchester, it was the closest I would ever get to

:54:06. > :54:09.competing in my home town and it was a very special time. As soon as you

:54:10. > :54:17.walked to the apparatus and started to go up the steps, the roar was

:54:18. > :54:21.unbelievable. We weren't used to being high-profile and people know

:54:22. > :54:25.your name and who you were. I remember after the qualification we

:54:26. > :54:29.walked out and there was people shouting and screaming your name,

:54:30. > :54:35.asking for autographs. It was a surreal moment and then that whole

:54:36. > :54:44.competition, it wouldn't -- couldn't have gone any better for me. Now the

:54:45. > :54:49.European bronze medallist, Beth Tweddle of England. This is the

:54:50. > :54:54.piece she wants. Have to keep control. Up to the dismount. Lovely

:54:55. > :55:00.and high. Beautiful twist. I remember doing the bar final and as

:55:01. > :55:09.soon as I landed, I had the biggest smile on my face. To come home with

:55:10. > :55:17.two silvers and a gold, I was only 17 and I didn't realise how much of

:55:18. > :55:21.an impact that was going to have. People ask me to pick one moment

:55:22. > :55:26.from my career that I treasure and you can't pick one moment. For me

:55:27. > :55:33.there is three moments. One was London, because it took me 20 years

:55:34. > :55:37.and it was the last moment of my career. It has been a long wait for

:55:38. > :55:47.a medal. The other was winning the fist world title in 2006. The third

:55:48. > :55:54.is the Commonwealth Games. It was a special moment. That is a truly

:55:55. > :55:58.inspirational story. We have been a bit cruel, we didn't tell her we

:55:59. > :56:04.were going to run that film. But great memories there and British

:56:05. > :56:08.gymnastics is in such a good place, because of you. What do you think

:56:09. > :56:13.when you look back? You know, I still don't realise what I did. I

:56:14. > :56:16.did gymnastics, because I loved it. Every day from the age of even I

:56:17. > :56:22.kept going through that door with a smile on my face. Even my coach,

:56:23. > :56:27.Amanda, she admitted I didn't necessarily have something special,

:56:28. > :56:32.I was just willing ing to work and I was determined. You were also a keen

:56:33. > :56:37.swimmer, at which age did you realise that it was gymnastics for

:56:38. > :56:42.you and not swimming? I did both up to the age of seven or eight and

:56:43. > :56:48.then they started to clash and there was no doubt that gymnastics was the

:56:49. > :56:53.No 1. Participation numbers right across the board in the UK have gone

:56:54. > :56:58.up since London 2012. That is a remarkable change around isn't it?

:56:59. > :57:03.Yes, there is so many of us doing so well now. You have Lewis Smith and

:57:04. > :57:07.Daniel Purvis and Daniel Keatings, you can't just name one. There is so

:57:08. > :57:12.many. It helps the younger kids that they have that sort of role model to

:57:13. > :57:17.lack up to and they think, we have seen them training in the gym, they

:57:18. > :57:22.only work hard, it is nothing special. Why can't we do it? That

:57:23. > :57:27.will always help. Across the UK there are many other sports. We talk

:57:28. > :57:32.about football and rugby and cricket, but my children go to

:57:33. > :57:38.gymnastics on a Sunday morning and the place is full. I think London

:57:39. > :57:42.2012 and Glasgow 2014 has done wonders for British sport. You know

:57:43. > :57:49.about the football, cricket, rugby, but it is show casing the lesser

:57:50. > :57:54.known sports whether it is bowls or gymnastics, there is so many aspects

:57:55. > :58:03.and I believe every child has their calling. I did so many sports before

:58:04. > :58:07.I found gym mas ticks. -- gym mas ticks -- gymnastics. And you can

:58:08. > :58:19.find out more information on our web-site. And see how Matt Baker got

:58:20. > :58:28.involved in the sport. Thank you Beth. I have a bit of breaking news.

:58:29. > :58:35.A 16-year-old Nigerian weightlifter has failed a doping test after

:58:36. > :58:39.become the youngest female to win a Commonwealth Games medal. She has

:58:40. > :58:44.been suspended after testing positive after winning the 53

:58:45. > :58:52.kilogram gold on Friday. More on that during the day. Now to the

:58:53. > :58:57.wonderful scenes here in Glasgow in the mountain biking. This has been a

:58:58. > :59:02.terrific event. Beautiful scenery there. A testing course, we have had

:59:03. > :59:09.the women's mountain biking. Now it is the men. That is on BBC 3 if you

:59:10. > :59:15.fancy some live mountain biking. We have been at the Hydro in Glasgow

:59:16. > :59:19.and the noisy neighbours at the SECC are making lots of noise this

:59:20. > :59:24.afternoon. Because over there now it is the boxing, a passionate crowd at

:59:25. > :59:30.the best of times. Fantastic support and for Scottish boxers, but the

:59:31. > :59:42.crowd welcoming the boxer from around the world and some tasty

:59:43. > :59:46.bouts this afternoon. Reece McFadden from Motherwell has been one of the

:59:47. > :59:49.standout performers at the boxing so far, highlighted by that victory

:59:50. > :59:54.over Charlie Edwards of England, but with every round that goes by, the

:59:55. > :00:00.pace quickens, the intensity increases, and Oteng Oteng, a bronze

:00:01. > :00:05.medallist in Delhi, will be a tough task this afternoon. Richie

:00:06. > :00:11.Woodhall, how tough? Yeah, it will be a tough contest in against an

:00:12. > :00:15.experienced guy, but he has the confidence of beating the world

:00:16. > :00:21.number one. These guy is the limit for McFadden. I have been impressed

:00:22. > :00:24.with his attitude, raising the tempo, raising his performance

:00:25. > :00:30.level, and he can beat this fella. He has had two hard fights, and on

:00:31. > :00:36.paper you would have thought Edwards would beat him, who knows how far he

:00:37. > :00:42.can go? When you are 19, remember, you were once! Is there almost the

:00:43. > :00:49.folly of youth, you just think, I can do this? Absolutely, he is on

:00:50. > :00:54.home soil, the crowd behind him, and some kids are nervous, but this

:00:55. > :00:59.fella, no nerves in him at all, which is really good. At 19 years of

:01:00. > :01:04.age, that is probably his greatest strength, not fazed by the occasion.

:01:05. > :01:11.Long that may continue. Let's see how he got on.

:01:12. > :01:17.The opening bell sounds in this flyweight quarterfinal between

:01:18. > :01:22.boxers from Scotland and Botswana, the man wearing red, operating out

:01:23. > :01:24.of the southpaw stance, has gate-crashed the senior

:01:25. > :01:29.international scene of boxing, elite Olympic boxing, with some

:01:30. > :01:32.eye-catching performances in the opening two rounds of the

:01:33. > :01:36.Commonwealth Games boxing tournament, Scotland's Reece

:01:37. > :01:41.McFadden. His opponent in blue, ranked 30th in the world, reigning

:01:42. > :01:43.bronze medallist at flyweight from Delhi four years ago, Oteng Oteng

:01:44. > :01:55.from Botswana. Just listen to the support that

:01:56. > :02:00.McFadden is receiving. Botswana have got a sizeable contingent in the

:02:01. > :02:06.crowd as well here at the SECC, as McFadden takes a good right hand

:02:07. > :02:10.over the top from Oteng. But he is so quick, McFadden, that sometimes

:02:11. > :02:17.even when he is caught, his hand speed allows him to get through with

:02:18. > :02:22.shots of his own. One of his strengths is his elusiveness, he

:02:23. > :02:25.stays very small, create a small target, sitting on the back foot,

:02:26. > :02:31.southpaw, he waits, and as is opponent comes, like Andrew Selby in

:02:32. > :02:34.that first contest, a terrific performance, but Selby, as he was

:02:35. > :02:41.moving away, that is what McFadden does, and then he springs and attack

:02:42. > :02:45.as you are moving away from him. Very quick hands, very quick feet,

:02:46. > :02:51.and of those tactics have worked tremendously well in the first two

:02:52. > :02:54.contests that he has had. The first two contests have been upset of

:02:55. > :03:00.considerable proportions, beating the world number one, Andrew Selby,

:03:01. > :03:03.in his opening bout, a bout where Selby was Dr points for the

:03:04. > :03:09.mouthpiece continually falling out of his mouth. -- docked. Take

:03:10. > :03:15.nothing away from McFadden's performance. In the second round of

:03:16. > :03:22.the tournament, he beat England and Great Britain's Charlie Edwards,

:03:23. > :03:28.another GB podium boxer. So he has had huge success against home

:03:29. > :03:29.nations boxers, and boxers of better experience. No respect of the

:03:30. > :03:33.nations boxers, and boxers of better experience. No respect reputations

:03:34. > :03:40.of the men he has been facing, and this SECC crowd are really pumped

:03:41. > :03:41.up, the intensity and focus, and he has delivered some breathtaking

:03:42. > :03:44.performances. He is has delivered some breathtaking

:03:45. > :03:49.performances. one win away from a place on the Commonwealth Games

:03:50. > :03:54.medal roster, something that Oteng Oteng experienced in Delhi four

:03:55. > :03:55.years ago. He had a bye in the first round and then had a stoppage win

:03:56. > :04:11.over Ricardo Blackman. Right hands whipped in underneath

:04:12. > :04:18.from Oteng. The bell sounds. An irrepressible character, really, he

:04:19. > :04:24.has got a graze. I don't know how that significance in terms

:04:25. > :04:30.has got a graze. I don't know how whether it will get worse in the

:04:31. > :04:35.contest. Some fast counters here from McFadden. I didn't think it was

:04:36. > :04:40.too bad a round at all. Oteng missed the target, often with the right

:04:41. > :04:45.hand, could not get too, then back comes McFadden. A clever tactic.

:04:46. > :04:49.Look at that shot from McFadden, he throws the branches in threes and

:04:50. > :04:55.fours. Let's have a look at the schools. They have all gone for

:04:56. > :05:00.McFadden, yeah, I agree with that. McFadden taking the opening round in

:05:01. > :05:05.unanimous fashion. The graze is just above the right eyebrow, the corner

:05:06. > :05:09.applying the petroleum jelly. Not leading any blood visibly at the

:05:10. > :05:14.moment, but that is something that McFadden will be looking to cover up

:05:15. > :05:20.and prevent from getting worse during because of this contest. What

:05:21. > :05:25.he does very well, wrong, is waiting on the back foot, but now and again

:05:26. > :05:28.he will counterattack. He will wait for the opponents delayed and then

:05:29. > :05:38.quickly accelerate, beat him to the punch, and that keeps the judges

:05:39. > :05:43.happy. They cease on going forward now and again, but the majority of

:05:44. > :05:47.the tiny sits on the back foot. -- base eats someone. That is why he

:05:48. > :05:59.got that first round. Oteng was not far away with a long

:06:00. > :06:04.right hand. That often determines the tactics for the remainder of the

:06:05. > :06:12.bout. Oteng of doing goes to the furthest mutual corner. -- Oteng

:06:13. > :06:20.Oteng. Some repairs to the waistband on the trunks of McFadden.

:06:21. > :06:27.It is a shame, because just before that, Ronald, the pace was suiting

:06:28. > :06:31.McFadden, he slowed it down, making Oteng weight, trying to come

:06:32. > :06:36.forward, and that suits McFadden - he can see the attacks coming

:06:37. > :06:42.forward. This fella in blue, the attacks are too slow, McFadden is

:06:43. > :06:45.doing really well. Brilliant from McFadden, quickness of feet and of

:06:46. > :06:52.thought as well, and he is continuing to grow under the ring

:06:53. > :06:57.lights here in terms of confidence. A hugely experienced man in front of

:06:58. > :07:02.him, Olympian from London 2012, two time participant in the World

:07:03. > :07:07.Championships, Oteng Oteng, losing in the second preliminary round on

:07:08. > :07:11.both occasions. So plenty of global experience, McFadden acquitting

:07:12. > :07:15.himself brilliantly once again. Sneaky left hand got through from

:07:16. > :07:19.McFadden, got himself back, staying close to centre ring, operating off

:07:20. > :07:26.the ropes, relying on his quickness to, the better. Coming back with

:07:27. > :07:30.threes and fours, not just singles from McFadden. We have seen it time

:07:31. > :07:35.and again, a box on the back foot boxing well, but the judges do not

:07:36. > :07:40.like that style anymore. It is changing, this game is, you have got

:07:41. > :07:46.to be able to do them both, on the back foot but then push your

:07:47. > :07:50.opponent back. He did just there, exemplifying that tactic, sitting

:07:51. > :07:53.back on the ropes. Again, the best of McFadden coming out of his

:07:54. > :08:02.trance! Michael Keane in action once more. -- trunks. A little bit more

:08:03. > :08:07.blood coming out of that cut on his left eye, he will just have to watch

:08:08. > :08:12.that. We are inside the final minute of the second round, McFadden took

:08:13. > :08:16.the opening round in unanimous fashion. The reigning national

:08:17. > :08:22.champion at 52 kilograms, only 19 years of age, the man from

:08:23. > :08:26.Motherwell. And here he is, sitting in the corner once more, looking to

:08:27. > :08:31.lay that trap and use that commend us quickness to score effectively

:08:32. > :08:36.off the ropes. Oteng Oteng loses his balance, and look how quickly

:08:37. > :08:42.McFadden wanted to capitalise, in a flash, leading to macro shots go.

:08:43. > :08:46.Yeah, it is important, you have got to have fast reactions, faster

:08:47. > :08:50.reflexes, but he has got them. He does not need to be square on the

:08:51. > :08:59.ropes, but such a tricky little man to nail down, a frustrating boxer to

:09:00. > :09:01.box against, and that is probably his strength, to frustrate the

:09:02. > :09:06.opponent, make him make mistakes, then he goes back at him. The bell,

:09:07. > :09:10.a spring heeled walk back to the red corner for Reece McFadden, another

:09:11. > :09:15.strong performance. But that cut, oh, my goodness! That appears to

:09:16. > :09:19.have gotten worse, there is a smear of blood which I thought was the

:09:20. > :09:23.eyebrow opening up, but it has got a little bit deeper. They will have to

:09:24. > :09:28.get to work on that. That is when he jumped on Oteng Oteng when he lost

:09:29. > :09:33.his balance. I think he may have stepped on his foot, then pushing

:09:34. > :09:40.him back. Yuna what? Let's have a look at these schools, yeah! Two

:09:41. > :09:41.judges to one, clever boxing by McFadden, frustrating his opponent,

:09:42. > :09:55.finding a way to win these rounds. Oteng Oteng looking to retain at

:09:56. > :10:01.least the bronze medal he picked up in Delhi four years ago, but facing

:10:02. > :10:05.a deficit here against a compact, clever boxer, Reece McFadden from

:10:06. > :10:11.Scotland. Into the third and final round, McFadden looking to continue

:10:12. > :10:16.this fairy tale run that has been bought by his boxing brilliance here

:10:17. > :10:19.and Glasgow 2014. He has beaten the world number one, AGB

:10:20. > :10:23.representative, and here he is facing the 30th ranked boxer in the

:10:24. > :10:28.world, the highest ranked flyweight after Andrew Selby in the

:10:29. > :10:32.tournament. Launch day long left hook, Oteng Oteng from Botswana, and

:10:33. > :10:38.in the opening two rounds, McFadden executing his game plan brilliantly.

:10:39. > :10:42.Limbs intertwining, twisting, as the boxers tumbled to the canvas, but

:10:43. > :10:48.both up instantly. There does not appear to be any leg injury, or one

:10:49. > :10:52.that limits the mobility of McFadden, that would be a serious

:10:53. > :10:58.impediment to a boxer who relies on his legs as heavily as he does. Just

:10:59. > :11:04.a counterattack there, just stepping in. He gets caught there. He has got

:11:05. > :11:09.to stay concentrated, you must concentrate fully now. Coming to a

:11:10. > :11:13.part of the contest where his opponent will really commit himself

:11:14. > :11:17.with that right hand, there it is, look. McFadden has got to

:11:18. > :11:22.concentrate now. McFadden evaded most of the right hands, that long

:11:23. > :11:27.right cross from Oteng Oteng did get home. We are at the midway point of

:11:28. > :11:32.this third and final round, backfired on took the opening two

:11:33. > :11:37.rounds, in unanimous fashion, then from two of the three judges. --

:11:38. > :11:43.McFadden Coke. Beyond this midway point now, Oteng Oteng increasingly

:11:44. > :11:47.looking for one shot to bring about a finish. He will be aware of the

:11:48. > :11:53.fact that he is trailing in the contest. Remember, he is a stoppage

:11:54. > :11:57.win in his second round bout after receiving a bye in the opening

:11:58. > :12:01.round, so he does possess a fair did. McFadden will have to watch

:12:02. > :12:06.that. It is important for McFadden to work on the inside now, getting

:12:07. > :12:11.these opportunities. It is a stalemate, nothing really landing,

:12:12. > :12:16.so he has to end of the sequence may be on the hook, but two or three

:12:17. > :12:21.shots on the inside. At this stage, Oteng going forward, looking to

:12:22. > :12:25.score the odd shot here and there. It is not decisive, but at the end

:12:26. > :12:31.of the day McFadden has got to work a little bit harder on the inside

:12:32. > :12:35.just to finish this contest off. Inside the final 30 seconds,

:12:36. > :12:37.McFadden bearing his gumshield and grinning, the work in this round has

:12:38. > :12:41.not been as clean or grinning, the work in this round has

:12:42. > :12:46.the Scottish boxer. Having said that, Oteng Oteng really having

:12:47. > :12:52.the Scottish boxer. Having said difficult time landing cleanly on

:12:53. > :12:55.this compact, elusive little boxer. Falling short once again, both

:12:56. > :13:00.boxers will hear the ten second clapper, a furious finish, McFadden

:13:01. > :13:06.in an exchange, getting onto the front foot and driving Oteng Oteng

:13:07. > :13:12.backwards towards the ropes. Oteng raises his hand, but more in hope

:13:13. > :13:17.than expectation, I suspect. A familiar celebration for McFadden

:13:18. > :13:21.now, taking a bow, and acknowledging the vocal support that he is

:13:22. > :13:26.receiving from the crowd here at the SECC, a true reflection of the

:13:27. > :13:29.outcome of that bout, I think. Oteng Oteng knows his Commonwealth Games

:13:30. > :13:34.is coming to an end and that Reece McFadden will be the one going

:13:35. > :13:38.through to the medal stages. Another good performance by McFadden, just

:13:39. > :13:43.finishing the round very strong, probably lost the round by a couple

:13:44. > :13:48.of judges, I would say. The work was not as clean as in the first two,

:13:49. > :13:53.but nevertheless he is the contest very well. He thinks he has won it,

:13:54. > :14:03.so do we, and what a story this is for this young fellow. Ladies and

:14:04. > :14:07.gentlemen, what a fantastic contest, your appreciation for both boxers.

:14:08. > :14:08.CHEERING AND
