:02:45. > :02:49.Another gymnast with his sights set on battle, Nile Wilson. He was key

:02:57. > :03:06.gymnasts today. Lovely, clean, confident start.
:03:07. > :03:15.The is working with such maturity. -- he is. We used to call the pommel
:03:16. > :03:21.horse a great leveller, but for him it is just another piece of
:03:22. > :03:25.apparatus. Double Russian, good, disciplined travel, good placement
:03:26. > :03:33.of the hands. Forwards and backwards. Keeping the swing, well,
:03:34. > :03:37.I will tell you what, such a mature performance. Nile Wilson proving
:03:38. > :03:43.there is no room for error in this all-around final! Really cool
:03:44. > :03:50.customer, Nile Wilson. He is lapping it up, isn't he? It feels like his
:03:51. > :03:55.stage. Well, could it be his year? His first year as a senior! 13
:03:56. > :04:11.scored for Sean O'Hara. We saw Iwan Mepham on pommel horse a
:04:12. > :04:21.little bit earlier on, ninth highest qualifier. He is on rings now. And
:04:22. > :04:26.Iwan just 17 years of age, the youngest competitor in the final,
:04:27. > :04:31.and rings are notoriously difficult until you are a little more mature.
:04:32. > :04:37.Good, strong gymnast, you can see him using every ounce of this
:04:38. > :04:41.strength there. He needs to control the top of the swing, so essential
:04:42. > :04:46.to have a really strong handstand shape, lovely in the swing elements,
:04:47. > :04:51.and that is very good, very good strength old. -- hold. He needs to
:04:52. > :05:02.be disciplined here. Really giving it everything, big
:05:03. > :05:06.swing into the double twisting double back, that was a really good
:05:07. > :05:17.effort on the reins. Iwan Mepham on his way back! -- rings. He had a
:05:18. > :05:24.little stall on his dismount from pommel horse, but things going well
:05:25. > :05:31.for him now. Nile Wilson, 13.833, a little wry smile, he knows he is on
:05:32. > :05:38.target. A lot of difficulty still to come from Nile, and a lot of
:05:39. > :05:46.difficulty from this young man. He feels so vastly experienced on the
:05:47. > :05:50.world stage, but still just 21 years old. The highest qualifier in the
:05:51. > :05:55.pommel horse, here he goes in the all-around final. Handstand, onto
:05:56. > :06:02.one handle, staying there a long time, through the Russians. Again,
:06:03. > :06:08.on the one handle, such a good performer. Very nicely done, picks
:06:09. > :06:13.it up well, he had problems with that in qualifying. That is risky,
:06:14. > :06:22.that spindle in that situation, he did it so well. Hands catching
:06:23. > :06:31.nicely. No-nonsense into the triple Russian. Swinging with such, such
:06:32. > :06:38.confidence, Max Whitlock! Just a reminder, these lads are from the
:06:39. > :06:44.home nations! These days, we have some of the best gymnasts in the
:06:45. > :06:48.world! What a performance! What a hugely difficult routine as well,
:06:49. > :06:52.and his style, he looks so light when he is on the pommel horse. It
:06:53. > :06:59.looks almost effortless, and of course it isn't. Well,
:07:00. > :07:03.looks almost effortless, and of to strength. Iwan Mepham, 13.4
:07:04. > :07:24.sixes, he'll take that. -- 13 .466. Aristotelous of Cyprus, the next
:07:25. > :07:29.gymnast up onto rings. Three more to come from this group.
:07:30. > :07:38.And Cyprus have had some very good ring workers over the years. He just
:07:39. > :07:41.needs to lift the feed a fraction higher, but that was an impressive
:07:42. > :07:48.list straight into a strength element.
:07:49. > :07:59.Very good start. Front somersault. Good piece for him, this.
:08:00. > :08:09.A bit low on the scissor. But he is away now. And now the rings are
:08:10. > :08:23.swinging... Just scraped the top with the Russian. Aristotelous
:08:24. > :08:30.having a better outing on rings. Serious mistake, a pause on the
:08:31. > :08:37.handstand! But he is through, Mitch, he is through. Max Whitlock still
:08:38. > :08:43.well ahead. Enormous pommel horse score, just stretching ahead now of
:08:44. > :08:48.the rest of the field. Multiplied by three and you have got 93 points,
:08:49. > :08:56.which is up with the very best. The very best of Kohei Uchimura. Clinton
:08:57. > :09:04.Purnell, good, solid start for him on floor, looking for consistency
:09:05. > :09:09.here, peace number two. -- peace. Built for rings, not formals, but he
:09:10. > :09:13.will be anxious to go through. Good, steady start. Now he is into the
:09:14. > :09:24.forward travel. Nice, good construction to this
:09:25. > :09:29.routine, keeping the swing, keeping the form, and he kept the rhythm on
:09:30. > :09:35.the dismount. He will be delighted with that. Having a very good
:09:36. > :09:40.Commonwealth Games! He has really made the apparatus that he is not
:09:41. > :09:44.quite so suited to be good, and if you want to be an all-around
:09:45. > :09:49.gymnast, that is what you have got to do - excel at your good pieces
:09:50. > :10:03.but be reasonable at your not so. 13.566, Aristotelous on rings.
:10:04. > :10:10.Gabriel can now from Singapore. -- Gan. Both parents are gymnasts. It
:10:11. > :10:14.makes you wonder how old he was when he first started, no doubt he can't
:10:15. > :10:19.amend his first day in the Jim if his parents were gymnasts! He
:10:20. > :10:27.probably started running around in the Jim as soon as he could walk. --
:10:28. > :10:33.gym. He is a very nicely prepared gymnast, strong in that handstand
:10:34. > :10:38.shape. Oh, but legs apart, and elbows a little bit bent. And a
:10:39. > :10:43.very, very short routine with a fall on the dismount! I hope his right
:10:44. > :10:45.foot is all right, he seemed to take that quite solid on the dismount. A
:10:46. > :11:03.little jaded after that. Yeah, problems there, very soft in
:11:04. > :11:04.the back, he needed to get over the top to guarantee the dismount a
:11:05. > :11:20.little bit more. Clinton Purnell, 13.133. Clinton
:11:21. > :11:26.Purnell was second of the Australians in that top group.
:11:27. > :11:29.Tsukahara, very controlled and experienced gymnast, he will do what
:11:30. > :11:36.he has to do to get through here, no heroics, but no doubt a lot of
:11:37. > :11:41.beauty and a lot of grace. Eat kept the difficulty down on the floor
:11:42. > :11:43.with an eye on six consistent performances. -- he kept. Scissor
:11:44. > :12:00.into handstand. Two circles, gone again, decent,
:12:01. > :12:08.that makes it an E, oh! He has fallen off, what a shame! What
:12:09. > :12:14.happened there?! Just a loss of grip? Watch where he puts his hands
:12:15. > :12:21.here. The actually missed, the left hand should have gone under his
:12:22. > :12:27.hips. He almost got his thumb caught. Sometimes at the end, it
:12:28. > :12:37.does take you by surprise. We just couldn't get his hand underneath and
:12:38. > :12:47.a is dumb. -- he. But look, back into the rhythm. -- under his thumb.
:12:48. > :12:53.He has got such a personality, really difficult there. Absolute
:12:54. > :13:02.frustration, but he can see the funny side of it! He made pommel
:13:03. > :13:19.horse locales of this! Rakesh Patra, 14.266. -- look hazardous. This is
:13:20. > :13:28.obviously his big piece, rings. As usual, 13th highest qualifier in
:13:29. > :13:32.this top 24. -- Ashish Kumar. They are all working six pieces of
:13:33. > :13:38.apparatus, this is the second for Kumar.
:13:39. > :13:48.He lifts his legs out behind. Oh, now you can see the shoulders and
:13:49. > :13:53.quite level with the hands, so he'll get the skill, but there will be
:13:54. > :13:57.some deductions. And again, knees should go a little bit further down.
:13:58. > :14:01.It shows that he is not quite strong enough to be able to hold those
:14:02. > :14:05.positions, a bit of a bend of the elbows. Finding the good handstand
:14:06. > :14:14.position. He just needs to lock the shoulders
:14:15. > :14:24.out and really show that good line at the top. Happy in the swinging,
:14:25. > :14:26.and a relatively easy dismount, straight back somersault with full
:14:27. > :14:40.twist, but landed it well. Well, the next gymnast on pommel
:14:41. > :14:45.horse will be Dan Purvis, but first Tsukahara's score, 12.833, a costly
:14:46. > :14:58.fall for him, he's out of the running.
:14:59. > :15:02.After the last piece of apparatus he was in second place, a mark ahead of
:15:03. > :15:06.Keatings. Keatings has big difficulty to come. He has had
:15:07. > :15:11.problem, you can see on the first handstand he didn't get his legs
:15:12. > :15:17.together. He found it very difficult to pick up and I am afraid this is
:15:18. > :15:22.the story of Dan, he needs to get consistent on the support apparatus.
:15:23. > :15:25.But, he will be away, he will be determined. Very quick on the one
:15:26. > :15:45.hand. Travelling with confidence now. He
:15:46. > :15:48.is experienced enough to put that problem behind him and safely
:15:49. > :15:54.through the dismount sequence. Well, two of the big players have had a
:15:55. > :15:58.fall now. The others have to watch out, because they will be more
:15:59. > :16:02.relaxed now, having got that out of the way and obviously Keatings,
:16:03. > :16:06.Wilson will be feeling the pressure that they cannot mess up.
:16:07. > :16:12.Absolutely, he tried to increase his difficulty there, really. He knows,
:16:13. > :16:17.like we said on some of the support work we said he try needs to
:16:18. > :16:21.increase his difficulty. I think Dan Purvis is a great gymnast when he is
:16:22. > :16:25.happy. When he has something niggling at him it will end up like
:16:26. > :16:30.that. But now, having got that fall out of the way it is what you are
:16:31. > :16:35.waiting for, let us be honest. As soon as it is gone you are a
:16:36. > :16:46.different gymnast. Aditya Rana for India.
:16:47. > :16:52.First look at the vault. Big vault. Very big vault. A bit piked down on
:16:53. > :17:07.the landing, but lovely straight body. One-two and a half twists. Big
:17:08. > :17:16.score. It is out 5.2. -- it is out of 5.2.
:17:17. > :17:31.That is good execution. That got him to a 14.033. Indian gymnast is in
:17:32. > :17:38.tenth. Ashish Kumar. The 21st position at the moment. Dan Purvis,
:17:39. > :17:44.12.833. You can see, he is doing the sums in his head. That is going to
:17:45. > :17:47.be a beg score to come back from. ? The other two fall he still has a
:17:48. > :17:50.lot of difficulty in that pommel horse routine. So Mikhail Koudinov
:17:51. > :17:54.from New Zealand. He will go on vault now.
:17:55. > :17:58.Just one chance out of 14.8. The round off, the flip on, the
:17:59. > :18:10.one-and-a-half twist. Very nicely performed. Good direction. Step
:18:11. > :18:13.back. Makes the round off in front of board, so he can flip on and get
:18:14. > :18:15.plenty of of board, so he can flip on and get
:18:16. > :18:20.plenty height and flight off. The quicker you can get your hands back,
:18:21. > :18:33.the straighter the elbows, the more time you will get in the air on the
:18:34. > :18:42.flight off. The score, 13.966 for Mikhail Koudinov. Good steady
:18:43. > :18:46.consistent scoring. Two scores in, look at that for Max
:18:47. > :18:50.Whitlock. That translated into super world class if he can keep it up.
:18:51. > :18:54.Daniel Keatings in second. Wilson doing very well, in third place,
:18:55. > :18:59.Daniel Purvis after the pommel problem is in fourth at the moment.
:19:00. > :19:04.But look at Clinton Purnell in fifth place. What was my prediction in
:19:05. > :19:11.There is only two pieces in, we still have time. That was impressive
:19:12. > :19:13.stuff from half of the Home Nations, with Nile Wilson, Max Whitlock, just
:19:14. > :19:17.superb, using all of that twisting and turning you saw on floor. He
:19:18. > :19:21.will have gone on knowing that the pressure is on him, he is the one
:19:22. > :19:27.that everybody is watching, he has got that leeway if he makes a
:19:28. > :19:31.mistake he can still win it, but he is a perfectionist, he will want to
:19:32. > :19:37.do his best. Keatings is looking good. He can be a bit hit-and-miss
:19:38. > :19:42.at times. I was so pleased for him on the pommel. That is his
:19:43. > :19:47.specialist apparatus, it is not long since he has been back in that six
:19:48. > :19:52.piece competition, he did Fiat year ago but he has been away from it for
:19:53. > :19:57.a while. It is amazing how costly that fall will be for Purvis and
:19:58. > :20:01.Baines. They will be more relaxed now, there is more of a fight and
:20:02. > :20:07.fire in there. I doesn't half put pressure on the likes of Purvis and
:20:08. > :20:11.Keatings. Some will say I have had a fall, I have nothing to lose, let us
:20:12. > :20:16.give it my all, whereas max and that will be looking at that and
:20:17. > :20:19.thinking, some will go, I can relax a bit, because they have had their
:20:20. > :20:23.fall, but some won't have to tipsed what is going on with the rest of
:20:24. > :20:26.their competitors. Purr service, British champion on rings, so the
:20:27. > :20:30.next piece of apparatus is good for him, but the for the younger
:20:31. > :20:36.gymnasts, this is where they could struggle. It is a strong man's
:20:37. > :20:40.event. British gymnasts Tically aren't know for being that strong.
:20:41. > :20:45.Nile could bring a few points back in and max has upgraded his rings.
:20:46. > :20:51.It is still all the play for. That order is not your order just yet.
:20:52. > :20:53.This is why there is such kudos, isn't there, for the all round
:20:54. > :20:58.competition. Not only is it one after the other, but when you lock
:20:59. > :21:01.at the difference in apparatus, to be able to command it from a
:21:02. > :21:07.physical point of view When you are working round this all round, you
:21:08. > :21:11.will see the individual rankings but each gymnast has their own
:21:12. > :21:15.speciality. It is a story of what could have been or Sam Oldham. You
:21:16. > :21:20.get the thought it was his year, he was looking sharp and he wanted to
:21:21. > :21:24.be in this final so far I had seen him in training and he stepped up to
:21:25. > :21:28.form, he was looking in great shape. It is devastating for him. You can
:21:29. > :21:34.see him in the stands, he is cheering on his team-mates but he is
:21:35. > :21:38.fed up. As is Louis Smith who will be in the pommel horse final which
:21:39. > :21:44.is to come tomorrow, I think. So he is having a day off. This is hard.
:21:45. > :21:49.It is gruelling. Saw Lewis, as soon as max and Daniel were on pommel he
:21:50. > :21:55.was looking closer, I wonder what he would have made of max's pommel
:21:56. > :21:58.horse performance? Who knows. They get back out, they get to see the
:21:59. > :22:02.atmosphere, we will see what happens tomorrow. Daniel Keatings is going
:22:03. > :22:07.to be the first gymnast up on ring, there they are still warming up
:22:08. > :22:13.behind us, how important is this phase of the competition, to feel
:22:14. > :22:18.the apparatus from a gymnast's performance -- perspective You gain
:22:19. > :22:21.experience every time you get up. As the competition moves on, the nerves
:22:22. > :22:28.disappear, unless you have a mistake, that is when you start to
:22:29. > :22:33.think more. The thing is it is 90% mental. If do you go in with
:22:34. > :22:40.confidence... When you have really the British team down there, in that
:22:41. > :22:43.group, and how much will they be enjoying each other's company? That
:22:44. > :22:47.is great for them. Even though they are competing for England and
:22:48. > :22:52.Scotland they are out there for themselves, they will have the bars
:22:53. > :22:58.set up, they have the coaches round them. That keep them settled and you
:22:59. > :23:03.can see max is very close, to Scott, and they don't really talk that
:23:04. > :23:09.much. I have been watching them as they go round, just having them near
:23:10. > :23:15.each other they settle each other. Max is looking nervous, but when he
:23:16. > :23:22.gets on the at ray us the he is so calm and cool and collected. If you
:23:23. > :23:26.watch him on the side, he sits off by himself, he doesn't have much
:23:27. > :23:33.conversation, he takes himself into his own world and Scot is a few
:23:34. > :23:40.centimetres away. That is how he has learned that max copes with
:23:41. > :23:44.competitions. He doesn't need to be performing the difficult routines
:23:45. > :23:50.with it. He doesn't. But he is going it. He is doing it as a build up for
:23:51. > :23:56.the World Champions and leadings up to 2016. Here we go then with the
:23:57. > :24:00.third rotation, this David Bishop from New Zealand.
:24:01. > :24:04.On to the vault. Nice twisting, one-and-a-half twists in the
:24:05. > :24:08.straight some a subject, the New Zealand gymnasts are classy, when
:24:09. > :24:14.they show a straight shape, they show a real straight shape.
:24:15. > :24:19.Precision here, on to 2 platform, block, lovely straight body. Feet
:24:20. > :24:27.locked together right down the middle. Not the most difficult vault
:24:28. > :24:32.but one of the most precise. So with his third piece of apparatus
:24:33. > :24:37.Dan Keatings is round round competition so far has been going
:24:38. > :24:51.very well. Let us keep calm and hope for the best.
:24:52. > :24:57.That is nice, he swung straight into that shape. No adjustment of the
:24:58. > :25:02.hip, which is what the judges will look for. Double tuck, double pike,
:25:03. > :25:05.no hint of support. Nice swing all the way through and another nice
:25:06. > :25:18.cross. Again, that lovely flat body line
:25:19. > :25:24.and just a hint of a soft back there on the circle to handstand. A
:25:25. > :25:29.one-and-a-half twist into double jack, that gives him his D dismount.
:25:30. > :25:33.He has had a steady run. All the style of a medallist at world level.
:25:34. > :25:41.Daniel Keatings is very much back in the game. He is such a talented
:25:42. > :25:50.gymnast. Made for the sport. Light frame, strong, supple. Bishop, very
:25:51. > :25:57.happy with 14.125. Here we go. We talked earlier on about the fire
:25:58. > :26:09.inside of Sean O'Hara, and the bull is back. Here he is, snorting at the
:26:10. > :26:14.end of the runway. It is like a long jumpers "Psyche myself up" He will
:26:15. > :26:18.be doing the boxing tomorrow! He gheetz going. Once you have
:26:19. > :26:24.presented you only have 30 seconds. Here he go, one two, and that was
:26:25. > :26:29.very good. He got it round. He did. Huge improvement in what we saw in
:26:30. > :26:34.qualification. The key is, you have to get feet first, there is not a
:26:35. > :26:39.lot of room to get two somersaults in -- somersaults in. You can
:26:40. > :26:44.understand why he got fired up. He needed every ounce of power. He did.
:26:45. > :26:48.He drove the heels up and over, squeezed so tight. Pulled the legs
:26:49. > :26:53.apart. That means you can make the tuck tighter.
:26:54. > :26:59.Really powerfully in with the hands. Can see how he is really pulled into
:27:00. > :27:09.that tuck and he got the feet down and held it well. Maximum score
:27:10. > :27:20.15.66. Keatings. 14.1. Half way round. Looking good.
:27:21. > :27:28.Wilson. A message top himself of come on. We will second that Nile.
:27:29. > :27:33.When you come straight from the junior rank as he has, as you said
:27:34. > :27:37.Matt, strength is the challenge, so look for good swings, and that is
:27:38. > :27:46.not a bad Maltese, but you see the feet down at the back. Nice
:27:47. > :27:52.conversion into cross. But he will be relying on his technique the
:27:53. > :27:57.swing. Keep the swing going. Well done. And a God straddle top
:27:58. > :28:01.planche. See how the rings are turned out. Can he do that all the
:28:02. > :28:13.way through the lift. Yes, he can. -- good. Lovely basic technique. And
:28:14. > :28:17.again. See how the rings pinkie in? Just a little bit hesitation, but
:28:18. > :28:23.that was a very very good dismount. He can swing, this young man, the
:28:24. > :28:28.strength will come. He is looking unaffected by everything that is
:28:29. > :28:34.going on round him. Just can land so well. They spend hours off the
:28:35. > :28:40.trampoline to land. Every time he puts his feet on the floor he is
:28:41. > :28:46.emphatic with it. Leaves a great impression. Sean O'Hara 13.833. He
:28:47. > :29:08.is into third, still has the leaders to come.
:29:09. > :29:20.Iwan Mepham for Wales. Very young promising gymnast, we
:29:21. > :29:25.have seen him looking impressive on two pieces, what about the vault?
:29:26. > :29:30.Straight style. The straight somersault off, adds in a twist and
:29:31. > :29:35.he made it look quite easy, he looked like he has air time for more
:29:36. > :29:42.than one twist. There we are, flips back, lifts
:29:43. > :29:47.high, drops the arms to wrap the twist in. Will lose a bit for the
:29:48. > :30:04.step on landing, but in the air body nice and tight. Good technique.
:30:05. > :30:12.Wilson 14.633! So, a bigger score than Keatings. Well, they are going
:30:13. > :30:20.to swap positions. Wilson was in third. Into this
:30:21. > :30:29.rotation. The leader so far, Max Whitlock. This the weaker of his
:30:30. > :30:34.pieces but he hasn't half been working on difficulty, using the
:30:35. > :30:50.code. And necessary too, when you have one weak apparatus it can bring
:30:51. > :30:55.your average down. Deep in the chest to make sure of the position.
:30:56. > :31:08.Giant handstand. Double back, and make sure of the handstand, nicely
:31:09. > :31:14.too. Two doubles without a hint of support, pure swing.
:31:15. > :31:28.Double twisting double tuck, just a tiny adjustment and landing, but if
:31:29. > :31:32.that is a weakness, it shouldn't be too bad. He has done enough, he's
:31:33. > :31:39.going to stay ahead of Keatings and Wilson. Nile Wilson getting used to
:31:40. > :31:44.seeing himself on telly, on the world stage! When you talk about Max
:31:45. > :31:48.having a weakness, it is not really a week apparatus, but everyone is to
:31:49. > :32:03.be the best in the world, he has to pick up. 13.5, Iwan Mepham. So with
:32:04. > :32:10.Clark will lead from Keatings. -- Whitlock. Such a good routine, we're
:32:11. > :32:14.pretty confident. Aristotelous of Cyprus making sure that the board is
:32:15. > :32:20.absolutely in the right position here, two different boards, hard and
:32:21. > :32:27.soft. Aristotelous going for the Tuffers springboard.
:32:28. > :32:33.Building power, lovely double twisting vault, he will lose a
:32:34. > :32:41.little bit because he was off the red line. A tiny bit of Ben Sneesby,
:32:42. > :32:50.but it was flighty, really driving the feet and hands in. -- bent
:32:51. > :32:56.knees. Not a bad effort at all. Blocks up through the shoulders,
:32:57. > :32:59.snaps off the top, feet and legs are bit and tidy, the judges will deduct
:33:00. > :33:16.for that sort of thing. Max Whitlock, yes, still in the
:33:17. > :33:22.lead, 14.733, so a weaker piece but a very, very good score. So yes, Max
:33:23. > :33:27.Whitlock leads for England, Keatings of Scotland and second, Nile Wilson
:33:28. > :33:35.for England in third. But Clinton Purnell is on his way back. Would
:33:36. > :33:41.you say this was a good piece? He has got the build for it. He is
:33:42. > :33:45.looking for broad at the shoulder and narrow in the hip, he is
:33:46. > :33:55.certainly brought at the shoulder. That is a nice confident start,
:33:56. > :33:56.shrug into cross then into Maltese, secure in the opening strength
:33:57. > :34:14.elements. He turns the double tuck into a
:34:15. > :34:23.second Maltese. I will tell you what, he is going very well indeed.
:34:24. > :34:35.Just lift those heels a bit, was he a bit quick out of position. Back
:34:36. > :34:38.into giant, here is the wind-up. And just a C dismount, probably a good
:34:39. > :34:43.decision. Well, he was in fifth at the end of the last rotation, and he
:34:44. > :34:50.is clawing his way back, Clinton Purnell. He has qualified for rings
:34:51. > :34:53.finals, so it is one of his specialist pieces. He is looking
:34:54. > :35:04.very focused, absolutely loving being part of this group. And how
:35:05. > :35:07.world-class is that first group! Aristotelous scores 13.858. I think
:35:08. > :35:17.Clinton Purnell is going to be ahead of that.
:35:18. > :35:26.Gabriel Gan on vault for Singapore. He is quietly doing well, this lad.
:35:27. > :35:35.He is, he looks like he has got a sore foot, but this looks OK, hours
:35:36. > :35:42.on, style, very nice style with live off the top. The judges deduct for
:35:43. > :35:52.that, but he had plenty of fight off just one twist. So not the greatest
:35:53. > :35:59.difficulty score. -- plenty of height. He pushes lovely and high,
:36:00. > :36:04.one twist. Going for the Tsukahara approach in more ways than one. Very
:36:05. > :36:10.much so! We have seen Tsukahara competing in an extremely measured
:36:11. > :36:17.manner. We have seen his dad's way of getting up to the vault. Yes,
:36:18. > :36:22.Tsukahara's father invented that vault, the Tsukahara with full
:36:23. > :36:28.twist. When we first saw it, it was simply the turn onto the horse,
:36:29. > :36:30.snap, one and a half somersault off. Wow, it has been developed since
:36:31. > :36:49.then! Gabriel Gan, 13.366. Vault will be
:36:50. > :36:55.the next piece of apparatus for this top group we are looking at here.
:36:56. > :37:03.Clinton Purnell, 14.233, he is up into fifth. Max Whitlock, then,
:37:04. > :37:05.currently leading this men's all-around competition, and that is
:37:06. > :37:09.an example of how gymnasts have to an example of how gymnasts have
:37:10. > :37:14.switch focus from one piece of apparatus to another. Mentally, it
:37:15. > :37:23.is a very difficult discipline, this all-around competition. Wadsworth
:37:24. > :37:28.for Australia. Very nice, chin well out, proudly presents, this guy.
:37:29. > :37:48.Nice, clean, straight body shape. Good discipline on the rings, you
:37:49. > :38:06.can see they are turned in. They want to go out, but you try to
:38:07. > :38:13.keep those fingers in, very important, clear of the straps, full
:38:14. > :38:16.twist and double tuck. Another gymnast opting for the C
:38:17. > :38:23.difficulty, just making sure of the execution. It is a good point,
:38:24. > :38:27.because with the all-around, you can win it by somebody losing it. If you
:38:28. > :38:31.keep consistent when somebody else is going all out and making
:38:32. > :38:35.mistakes, you will come through. Absolutely, and all of these
:38:36. > :38:43.gymnasts will have their target, top six, top ten. Rakesh Patra, strong
:38:44. > :38:49.rings performance put him up the rankings, and he will be hoping for
:38:50. > :38:55.much the same here. Real power down there, double twist. Now, he powered
:38:56. > :38:59.into the platform and really hit it well. If you hit it like that, it
:39:00. > :39:06.will propel you into the air. From the angle we saw it, that looked
:39:07. > :39:09.very high. Block here, lift, two twists in, little ungainly at the
:39:10. > :39:20.finish, but a good vault. The effective use of the arms,
:39:21. > :39:31.wrapping in tightly, coming out for landing.
:39:32. > :39:39.Gymnasts immediately off the apparatus, getting themselves ready
:39:40. > :39:46.for the next piece. Luke Wadsworth, he scores 13.733.
:39:47. > :39:56.Tsukahara, the next gymnast for Australia onto rings. Two gymnasts
:39:57. > :40:01.still to go on this piece of apparatus after Tsukahara. Daniel
:40:02. > :40:07.Purvis Anne Frank Baines of Scotland still to come here. -- and.
:40:08. > :40:19.Tsukahara is in the rings final as well.
:40:20. > :40:24.The Japanese not known for hugely powerful rings, but a good start,
:40:25. > :40:40.back into Maltese, strong enough. Very smooth in the swing, holding
:40:41. > :40:49.the head back, shoulders a smidgen high.
:40:50. > :41:05.Straight body in the planche, winding up. Double twisting double
:41:06. > :41:20.tuck, he is having a good time out there. Delightful dismount!
:41:21. > :41:30.Rakesh Patra powered to a 14 on vault. Interesting, with Tsukahara,
:41:31. > :41:34.that, because we haven't seen sign of any difficult skills like
:41:35. > :41:40.double-double, but he is obviously capable of them if he can dismount
:41:41. > :41:46.off rings like that. See the chalk there, vital for grip. You see
:41:47. > :41:51.gymnasts chalking their legs as well, Ashish Kumar grabbing hold of
:41:52. > :41:57.his shins to pull himself around, increase the difficulty, and that is
:41:58. > :42:01.the key. He can see the scoreboard, a six difficulty here, Chris. We are
:42:02. > :42:07.going to see something special, look at that running technique, fabulous!
:42:08. > :42:14.It is a double Tsukahara, but not quite enough airtime to get it right
:42:15. > :42:17.around. Gosh, that was close, close to dangerous, that one! He got the
:42:18. > :42:24.feet down first, but he hung in the air, he really had to wrap that last
:42:25. > :42:32.bit in. So the turn on, the snap, one, two, the first one was piped.
:42:33. > :42:34.No wonder he didn't get around! He went for double pike, I suppose, but
:42:35. > :42:52.he had to tuck the second one in. Tsukahara, 14.733 for his rings,
:42:53. > :42:58.yes, that is more like it. Back in the day, I used to be able to do 15!
:42:59. > :43:06.The 37-year-old, good to see him here. So Scotland's Dan Purvis, he
:43:07. > :43:16.had a little fall on pommel horse behind him. The British rings
:43:17. > :43:22.champion needs everything here. Go he really has addressed one of his
:43:23. > :43:27.early problems in rings. He has addressed it with determination, a
:43:28. > :43:29.good string sequence to open. You cannot do more than three in a row.
:43:30. > :43:45.-- strength sequence. Swing into planche, very determined,
:43:46. > :43:50.making the handstand into giant. Just a tiny hint of a bent arm to
:43:51. > :43:56.make sure of that forward giant. Well through the rings, plenty of
:43:57. > :44:04.rotation, double double, so he is on his way back, on the comeback trail.
:44:05. > :44:08.Backing in a difficulty there, Dan. -- packing. Good to see, that is the
:44:09. > :44:15.only way to come back from disappointment on one piece. And in
:44:16. > :44:21.the nicest possible way, I hope that someone else falls! Not very
:44:22. > :44:31.British, Matt! It is the only chancy has got, Mitch! -- chance he has
:44:32. > :44:39.got. That is the reality of it, I suppose. Ashish Kumar, 13.333. Quite
:44:40. > :44:44.a generous score for what was really have a volt! Chris! I think they
:44:45. > :44:57.were points for effort, all the 3s for effort. I do think that kind of
:44:58. > :45:03.school encourages dangerous work. -- score. A measured approach, just the
:45:04. > :45:09.full twist, the exact opposite, going for style and execution and
:45:10. > :45:13.not so much difficulty. Upsetting the people at home wanting the
:45:14. > :45:20.difficulty, Chris! That is the excitement, I suppose.
:45:21. > :45:37.There we go, the turn on lovely style. Really stylish landing. Arms
:45:38. > :45:49.out. Text book. Dan Purvis, he needs a big score
:45:50. > :45:57.here it is. 14.4. Cheers have cheers of "Come on Frank". He is the
:45:58. > :46:01.19-year-old competing for Scotland Frank Baines, he will be the last
:46:02. > :46:04.one on the rings in rotation. If you look at the pre-Budget reportion of
:46:05. > :46:14.shoulders to hips he is ideally built for this.
:46:15. > :46:20.-- proportion of shoulders to hips. Lovely swing to straddle. Very
:46:21. > :46:31.clean, look at the rings. Kept out. Good clean start from him.
:46:32. > :46:36.Lovely technique in the forward giant. Same in the backward, tiny
:46:37. > :46:42.bit soft, but that is OK. Secure enough. Look at that. Straight to
:46:43. > :46:48.the support position into double pike. That was a lovely sequence to
:46:49. > :46:53.finish. Three doubles in a row. He is so stylish, when it is going
:46:54. > :46:57.right he makes it look easy, he has a natural style about him, Frank
:46:58. > :47:17.Baines. 13.633 for Kristofer Done.
:47:18. > :47:29.The half way point, now, Chris. We are, we are going to have a look at
:47:30. > :47:32.parallel bars for the first time. Mikhail Koudinov from New Zealand.
:47:33. > :47:43.Very nice, front somersault at the start. Very popular, that was
:47:44. > :47:52.difficult work, done well. Very good handstand line. Good
:47:53. > :48:03.rhythm about this routine. Lots of K oh, as I say, he takes an extra
:48:04. > :48:09.step. Very nice front somersault. Classy work.
:48:10. > :48:16.Easily up to handstand. Swinging turn, oh, come on, tighten the back,
:48:17. > :48:21.hold it. Up. Double pike. Nicely done there.
:48:22. > :48:29.Mikhail Koudinov showing a touch of class.
:48:30. > :48:34.So same order then, as it stands. It is only half way. That is a good
:48:35. > :48:38.point. Let us talk about the being half way, what it means to the
:48:39. > :48:42.gymnast, because you come in here and now we are at the business end.
:48:43. > :48:45.They have got over their initial nerve, getting the atmosphere of the
:48:46. > :48:51.gym, now it is a case of they have to keep the focus going. For the men
:48:52. > :48:55.it is so difficult. Six pieces of an -- apparatus, it is so long to keep
:48:56. > :48:59.that concentration, with eight people in a group, you can be
:49:00. > :49:03.waiting 20 minutes before you do your routine. We were haar saying
:49:04. > :49:08.this was a weak piece for Max, when you look at the whole of his six
:49:09. > :49:13.pieces and put it in perspective, it's the weaker, but he didn't half
:49:14. > :49:19.perform it well. That is the thing, his weakest piece and he is still
:49:20. > :49:22.scoring a 14 pone 7. We can hardly call it weak. If you want to be in
:49:23. > :49:30.the top spot in the all round you have to have a great score on every
:49:31. > :49:33.piece. You look at his style, and it is incredibly strenuous this piece
:49:34. > :49:41.of apparatus, how it makes it look so effortless. That is the one thing
:49:42. > :49:44.about him, there is nothing for the judges to deduct from, so his
:49:45. > :49:49.execution is Ruth Kelly high and that is great for him, he can keep
:49:50. > :49:51.building that difficulty, and just hopefully keep the execution as
:49:52. > :49:54.well. -- really high. hopefully keep the execution as
:49:55. > :49:59.well. -- One thing we are not seeing is the difficulty and the execution,
:50:00. > :50:04.so give everybody an idea of how the scoring works. You get one score,
:50:05. > :50:07.one is difficulty, how many element, how difficult is each element, then
:50:08. > :50:12.the execution, which comes from ten and will work its way down, if you
:50:13. > :50:17.fall yoifr lose a whole mark and the two scores are put together. In the
:50:18. > :50:21.construction of a routine, these are not set pieces, everybody is not
:50:22. > :50:26.doing the same thing, it is up to you, what you want to include.
:50:27. > :50:31.Mainly the coaches will come up with the routines but the gymnast will
:50:32. > :50:37.have an input, they will say "I like this" or "I like that". Max is such
:50:38. > :50:42.a great twister they have tried to play the code with that. Some have
:50:43. > :50:48.their own move, don't they. The Tweddle. Some of us might! We can
:50:49. > :50:53.see obviously, Max, well, he is well ahead half way round, almost two
:50:54. > :50:58.marks clear of Keatings and Wilson in third. A world on Nile Wilson,
:50:59. > :51:04.how he is managing to keep his... He looked unaffected by what is going
:51:05. > :51:09.on round him. Those routines are unbelievable. We saw him at the
:51:10. > :51:13.junior European, that was a different atmosphere, he was top dog
:51:14. > :51:19.going into it. Now he is the underdog, but he is holding his own
:51:20. > :51:23.completely. Clinton Purnell, he is worth a mention, he was key to Wales
:51:24. > :51:27.in the team performance, but for him he is doing a brilliant individual.
:51:28. > :51:33.He has had a fabulous competition, it would be great for him to be up
:51:34. > :51:39.there in the same group as Daniel Keatings and Max. He is holding his
:51:40. > :51:44.own. He has just done a great ring routine, so... We will see him again
:51:45. > :51:47.in the final. It is great for Welsh gymnastics to be seen at this
:51:48. > :51:50.competition. I think even, when we look at the World Championships and
:51:51. > :51:55.the European Championship, you only ever get two gymnasts in a final
:51:56. > :52:01.from the whole of the Home Nations, from Team GB, but like you say, to
:52:02. > :52:07.come here and have three gymnasts that are allowed percountry, we are
:52:08. > :52:10.looking at three English, three Scots and three lads from Wale es.
:52:11. > :52:14.That is great. With the World Championships being here next year,
:52:15. > :52:19.it is a great test event for them all. The system will see how they
:52:20. > :52:29.are going. We can senile Will is only will be first up. That -- we
:52:30. > :52:34.can see Wilson. We are not doing bad. Tsukahara. We have been
:52:35. > :52:40.surprised by his performance, Dan purr service, he will use everything
:52:41. > :52:44.he can to get back. Daniel Keatings, but from a rings perspective, to
:52:45. > :52:49.Great Britain it has been weak piece, but looking at Frayn, looking
:52:50. > :52:55.at Nile Wilson we have real hope. -- train Frayn -- Frank Baines, British
:52:56. > :53:00.gymnastics have targeted rings and thought "How can we improve it?" You
:53:01. > :53:06.can see that with the juniors coming through. What can we expect from
:53:07. > :53:10.vault? Max we know has been working on a new move. Not many people do it
:53:11. > :53:13.in the world. You can see how pleased he was to day bow it
:53:14. > :53:18.yesterday. But they are all going to be coming out of the two-and-a-half
:53:19. > :53:19.twists, Keatings has got a slightly lower difficulty on vault.
:53:20. > :53:23.twists, Keatings has got a slightly lower He is only doing a double
:53:24. > :53:27.twist or he did in qualification, it is clean and solid so there is
:53:28. > :53:32.nothing for the judges to take. Will that be enough, do you think, for
:53:33. > :53:38.Keatings to stay ahead of Nile Wilson? He still has that advantage
:53:39. > :53:43.of about a full mark, so it will be a battle between those two for
:53:44. > :53:49.second. How will Keatings be feeling half way round? . I think he will be
:53:50. > :53:52.pleased. He know he has that experience and not let himself get
:53:53. > :54:00.too giddy. He has to hold himself back and say I still have three
:54:01. > :54:05.apparatus. I think he had a reality check in the team final on parallel
:54:06. > :54:11.bars when he did his dismount and went too much The routine was
:54:12. > :54:15.superb, and then he literately did the dismount, maybe a slight lack of
:54:16. > :54:18.concentration and fell over. We have to brace ourself, because the slow
:54:19. > :54:24.motion wave is coming round and we don't want to let it down That has
:54:25. > :54:29.been one of the highlights. I never seen a slow motion Mexican wave.
:54:30. > :54:33.Looks fab, they do it in fast motion and then slow motion. I saw Max
:54:34. > :54:38.warming up there, this is the key with vault. It is all over in the
:54:39. > :54:44.blink of an eye, how do you prepare for something like that? For the
:54:45. > :54:48.gymnastics it is a favourite piece because it is over so quickly, you
:54:49. > :54:51.know it, there doesn't tend to be the problems with vault you may have
:54:52. > :54:58.with the other apparatus. Nile Wilson is at the end of the runway.
:54:59. > :55:03.He is just making sure that is right. The board being put in place.
:55:04. > :55:07.He is set. We are set for the fourth piece of apparatus from six, you can
:55:08. > :55:11.see that score board to his right hand side, 5.6, so that ist
:55:12. > :55:18.difficulty for England, Nile Wilson, currently in third position in this
:55:19. > :55:24.men's all round final. Can he keep the consistency.
:55:25. > :55:31.Two-and-a-half twist, a bit deep on the landing. Just to make sure he
:55:32. > :55:41.collected his feet. Very good vault from Nile. Yes, he looked at it
:55:42. > :55:50.tired. He had to dig deep, get those heels over fast, wrap it in. But he
:55:51. > :55:57.is so aware of where he is. Knew it was a bit short. Knew he had to get
:55:58. > :56:02.the legs ready for landing. He is a gymnast that meets the floor, the
:56:03. > :56:06.floor doesn't hit him. Nice and high. Two-and-a-half twists
:56:07. > :56:12.is a very long way round, that is why it is worth 5.-- 5.6 and he will
:56:13. > :56:18.squeeze every tenth out after that. He will need it if he is to catch
:56:19. > :56:27.Dan Keatings. 14.7, that is a very very big score indeed, and will put
:56:28. > :56:31.the pressure on Keatings in silver. There they are. Third and second
:56:32. > :56:39.position at the moment. Keatings just taking a drink. That is God,
:56:40. > :56:45.his says. -- that is good, he say, not sure if he is saying that to
:56:46. > :56:52.himself or Nile. Over on high bar our first chance to
:56:53. > :56:59.see a real crowd pleaser. Mikhail Koudinov. But we will see Max first.
:57:00. > :57:04.Here he is, with a six difficulty. This is one of hardest vaults that
:57:05. > :57:10.you will see Hoare at the Commonwealth Games and he is risking
:57:11. > :57:17.everything. Says a lot about him. Not holding back, a big vault here.
:57:18. > :57:21.-- you will see here. And he skipped forward but he got his feet down, he
:57:22. > :57:27.will get the difficulty, that was very very courageous and it says a
:57:28. > :57:34.lot about him. Even very controlled with his deductions on landing. He
:57:35. > :57:38.wasn't frenetic. He is just a very controlled gymnast, and he knew he
:57:39. > :57:42.was a bit short, he was going to give way as little at possible. He
:57:43. > :57:47.could have done the two-and-a-half, to be sure of a comfortable score.
:57:48. > :57:52.They retired. Third day of competition, I wondered whether they
:57:53. > :57:57.might think "Is it wise to go for the big skill?" They are doing it to
:57:58. > :58:03.try their routines before the worlds? Yes and to tell the rest of
:58:04. > :58:10.world they are well capable. It postings a message to everyone else.
:58:11. > :58:14.Is -- it posts a message to even else. Mikhail Koudinov. Is --
:58:15. > :58:20.everyone else. Mikhail Koudinov having a steady competition.
:58:21. > :58:26.This though, one of my favourite pieces to watch. High releases, big
:58:27. > :58:31.dismount, twists and turns. And a real potential for pinging off.
:58:32. > :58:38.It is. It ist real blue ribbon event. That was very nice.
:58:39. > :58:46.The extra half turn. Here we go without. He flights that very well
:58:47. > :58:51.indeed. Fabulous height on the Tkatchev, the straddle over the bar.
:58:52. > :58:56.And oh, his guard has come undone. Wow, now, as a coach you are very
:58:57. > :59:00.very unhappy if they haven't stuck tape round that guard to make sure
:59:01. > :59:04.that doesn't happen. As you can see, the strap is velcro, and they do
:59:05. > :59:09.often come loose, but so dangerous for it to come loose on high bar It
:59:10. > :59:15.a ritual, you say coaches wandering round with tape stuck to their
:59:16. > :59:18.tracksuit top, they take the guards as a precaution and he will yet
:59:19. > :59:24.that. The minute that comes loose and wraps round the bar itself. Big
:59:25. > :59:27.problem. So he had no option, but to jump-off, but that is a shame,
:59:28. > :59:41.because it was a good looking routine.
:59:42. > :59:46.One-and-a-half turn. The full turn after the endo. All these moves
:59:47. > :59:50.named after people who first did them. They are the close elements,
:59:51. > :59:56.here we go. Another straddle and coming close to the bar. Have to
:59:57. > :00:00.show those as well as the big long swings and that is the fantastic
:00:01. > :00:05.triple back somersault. We saw it in qualification, but what a shame.
:00:06. > :00:11.What a shame and what a silly preparation error, that was
:00:12. > :00:20.absolutely avoidable. Max Whitlock with a huge 14.5 for vault. Next
:00:21. > :00:27.gymnast up Clinton Purnell. He is posting a 5.2. As we said with Beth
:00:28. > :00:33.earlier on, that score made up of execution and difficulty, so his
:00:34. > :00:45.execution will only be marked out of is a.-- 15 pine 2. Exhalation of
:00:46. > :00:52.breath, into his run, twisting slightly deep, having a great
:00:53. > :00:57.competition. Number four, and he has hit or four. Parallel bars and high
:00:58. > :01:02.bar to come for Clinton Purnell. Yeah, for some at this stage, they
:01:03. > :01:10.can really enjoy it. For others, it is pressure on. That was a very
:01:11. > :01:16.clean double twist. As long as he gets right around, they will take
:01:17. > :01:18.away tents from the execution score, and he did not have many to be taken
:01:19. > :01:50.away. -- tenths. He needs a tiny bit of work on ankle
:01:51. > :01:54.extension. And that is lovely, but we want to see it extend right
:01:55. > :02:03.through to the toes, performing very nicely, good control. He is a
:02:04. > :02:06.gymnast that has impressed much at these championships. Very well
:02:07. > :02:10.controlled double pike dismount. Not much for the judges to get hold of
:02:11. > :02:17.as far as execution is concerned, he did well. His competition is getting
:02:18. > :02:29.better. He looks quite relaxed, quite confident. Not overwrought for
:02:30. > :02:37.17 years of age. Clinton Purnell, 14.333, it is good for the Welshman.
:02:38. > :02:59.was with. He has had his ups and downs in this competition. Let's
:03:00. > :03:06.bogey as plenty of up here! -- let's hope he has. Plenty of aggression,
:03:07. > :03:13.tuck in the first, just to make sure of the rotation, just a question of
:03:14. > :03:17.how strictly the judges deduct. It almost changes the vault, because if
:03:18. > :03:23.you were doing it in the tucked shape, it would be one thing, but he
:03:24. > :03:26.does a mixture of the two. I guess the deduction will be for
:03:27. > :03:31.does a mixture of the two. I guess on, but very good off. He did a
:03:32. > :03:40.being Crosby, didn't he? # Straight
:03:41. > :03:45.Style good in the air. Neat, together until they just get ready
:03:46. > :04:03.for that landing. High bar and floor to come, Iwan
:04:04. > :04:13.Mepham scores 13.6 execs for parallel bars. -- 13 .666.
:04:14. > :04:25.Aristotelous, the next gymnast to chalk up, from Cyprus. A score of
:04:26. > :04:29.11.833 on this piece of apparatus. Long levers, which hopefully will
:04:30. > :04:37.work well for him. He will be hoping for a better performance.
:04:38. > :04:43.He controlled that start very well. Just a shade off the handstand, just
:04:44. > :04:57.not quite locking the shoulders out. See that again. Nice full turn, just
:04:58. > :05:02.a little bit loose with the legs. But it is smooth.
:05:03. > :05:09.Oh, a big step to the side! That is really a bit of a shame, because the
:05:10. > :05:15.work on the apparatus was good. The floor took him by surprise, he
:05:16. > :05:21.thought he had another few inches, I think. A flat dismount, he didn't
:05:22. > :05:30.really elevate. That bargain of how far out the side door you go!
:05:31. > :05:37.Tsukahara just waiting for his compatriot's score, and it is 14.3,
:05:38. > :05:44.good for vault. Tsukahara going for a 5.2, no doubt he will complete his
:05:45. > :05:54.namesake, the vault given his name by his father.
:05:55. > :06:01.It is like a handspring on and a somersault off, but no doubt a few
:06:02. > :06:06.bits in between before he lands. Great tribute to his dad, he has
:06:07. > :06:13.added a double twist, and I think he thought he was going to move, but he
:06:14. > :06:18.didn't, glue on his feet! That is absolutely how you do it. Watch
:06:19. > :06:24.that, my son, because his lad is a gymnast, and it is Tsukahara's dream
:06:25. > :06:29.that three from the family are international gymnasts. He did not
:06:30. > :06:32.quite bring his arms out to stabilise the landing, and I think
:06:33. > :06:37.he was almost, his shoulders were starting to make an extra twist. He
:06:38. > :06:43.did very well to keep his feet still. Aristotelous scores 12.933,
:06:44. > :06:51.so an improvement on his qualification score. Koudinov,
:06:52. > :07:06.12.666. He is annoyed with himself. Gabriel Gan, the next gymnast on
:07:07. > :07:08.parallel bars, and we're expecting good stuff from him here, beautiful
:07:09. > :07:12.lines on parallel bars, and we're expecting
:07:13. > :07:17.good stuff from pommel horse. Yeah, I would expect this to be a very
:07:18. > :07:25.strong piece for him, shows the handstand shape beautifully,
:07:26. > :07:33.swinging turn to start the exercise. Smooth in the pirouetting. You can
:07:34. > :07:38.see the gymnast change the speed of the swing dependent on what move
:07:39. > :07:45.they are going to do. Lift deal handstand, shoulders back. -- lift
:07:46. > :07:50.to handstand. But a very simple dismount will hurt him, because the
:07:51. > :07:55.gymnasts take their simple moves, but you have to include the
:07:56. > :08:02.dismount. Why would he have gone for Jason bold dismount? He could have
:08:03. > :08:06.done a little bit more spectacular. -- for such a simple dismount?
:08:07. > :08:22.Tsukahara, 14.466 for his Tsukahara. The crowd roar as Dan Purvis for
:08:23. > :08:29.Scotland is introduced. Just a reminder, just the one vault, all or
:08:30. > :08:33.nothing on here for Dan Purvis. Two and a half twists, a big step to the
:08:34. > :08:35.side, but that will do and a half twists, a big step to the
:08:36. > :08:43.side, but that will him no harm at all. 5.6 difficulty, so 15.6 before
:08:44. > :08:47.the judges can steal anything from him. Safely through! You can
:08:48. > :08:52.definitely see these guys are on their third day of competition,
:08:53. > :08:57.though, like this was easy for him on day one, but a big step backwards
:08:58. > :09:03.by today. They still can perform them just great, but they haven't
:09:04. > :09:07.got such boundless energy that they are stepping forwards at the end of
:09:08. > :09:15.it. Lovely vault, though, such good direction.
:09:16. > :09:24.12.866, that is a very good score considering he did such a simple
:09:25. > :09:29.dismount. Yes, it looks like he had a bit of a sore foot on one piece,
:09:30. > :09:32.but then he vaulted fairly reasonably. Max Whitlock, the
:09:33. > :09:41.current leader, Dan Purvis waiting for his vault score. He scores
:09:42. > :10:11.14.666, big score for Dan! Rakesh Patra, a big vault score from
:10:12. > :10:16.him. Good line there. At the last Commonwealth Games, we were really
:10:17. > :10:20.excited by the Indian gymnasts in terms of difficulty, but they were a
:10:21. > :10:29.bit short on good shapes, but this is lovely work. Really good shapes,
:10:30. > :10:33.good flight. Excellent, look how high above the rails he was, no
:10:34. > :10:42.problem at all linking the skills together. Good height, good landing!
:10:43. > :10:45.A really much, much improved routine, he is delighted. Rakesh
:10:46. > :11:04.Patra moving up the ranks. Baines. Now, he did two Bolton
:11:05. > :11:14.qualification, aiming for the final, which he got into with the third
:11:15. > :11:20.highest score. -- two vaults in qualification. 5.6, two and a half
:11:21. > :11:27.twists, and he sat it down, what a pity. Chris May the point, third
:11:28. > :11:32.day, pressure. -- Chris made the point. And a slip-up on pommel
:11:33. > :11:36.horse, he couldn't afford another slip on vault, what a shame. But he
:11:37. > :11:41.just needs to build and gain the experience, no doubt he will be
:11:42. > :11:47.back. It was a massive vault, actually, lots of height and flight,
:11:48. > :11:51.super two and a half twists. That is a lack of experience, you could see
:11:52. > :11:57.Dan Purvis was the same, a little bit short, but he was ready for the
:11:58. > :12:00.step back. Frank not quite so experienced. Also not so experienced
:12:01. > :12:16.with three days of competition. Rakesh Patra, 14.333, very good
:12:17. > :12:21.score indeed. What a shame about his pommel horse at the beginning. I
:12:22. > :12:30.know! 13.9, a big score considering he sat it out. Probably the highest
:12:31. > :12:37.vault we have seen so far today. Dan Keatings makes his way up the stairs
:12:38. > :12:40.to the end of the vault runway. How important is this vault for
:12:41. > :12:47.Scotland's Daniel Keatings? Silver medal position at the moment. He
:12:48. > :12:59.focuses in, he is off! Blade safe with a double twist, and
:13:00. > :13:04.it was a good decision, 5.2 difficulty, that shows his maturity
:13:05. > :13:12.and experience. It is good enough for Dan! The medal could well be
:13:13. > :13:15.within reach. He needs to not get too excited, he did this in the team
:13:16. > :13:22.competition as well, the double twist, and it is a nice, clean, well
:13:23. > :13:26.flighted double twist. Although only out of 5.2, he can probably squeeze
:13:27. > :13:36.into the height eight or nines for execution. -- high eights. Daniel
:13:37. > :13:39.Keatings has learnt a lot about this arena over the last few days,
:13:40. > :13:42.Keatings has learnt a lot about this arena over the last few and now,
:13:43. > :13:49.when it matters, in the finals, he is putting it all into play. 14.333
:13:50. > :13:54.with a very strong parallel bars routine to come, and he will round
:13:55. > :14:02.off the competition on high bar. Ashish Kumar.
:14:03. > :14:09.Another gymnast with a beautiful straight line through the back, but
:14:10. > :14:13.that swing was meant to be two-way handstand, and it was well off. The
:14:14. > :14:17.next element was very nice, and the somersault was ambitious, but when
:14:18. > :14:23.you have to swing backwards and forwards at the end of it, you lose
:14:24. > :14:29.all you have gained in doing it. Some flights there, a little and
:14:30. > :14:30.gamely, legs high on the catch. But he swings well. -- a
