:00:00. > :00:00.Another gymnast with a beautiful straight line through the back, but

:00:00. > :00:09.that swing was meant to be two-way handstand, and it was well off. The

:00:10. > :00:13.next element was very nice, and the somersault was ambitious, but when

:00:14. > :00:18.you have to swing backwards and forwards at the end of it, you lose

:00:19. > :00:23.all you have gained in doing it. Some flights there, a little and

:00:24. > :00:26.gamely, legs high on the catch. But he swings well. -- a little

:00:27. > :00:39.ungainly. Up into the dismount, double pike,

:00:40. > :00:44.well flighted. It is a good standard of gymnastics in this top 24, you

:00:45. > :00:49.know, from all the nations and regions we are seeing. Really great

:00:50. > :00:56.to it. As crisps head, his geography went a little bit awry. -- as Chris

:00:57. > :01:03.said. But he stuck with it, good dismount. It is interesting, when

:01:04. > :01:07.you talk about this new code, the changes in difficulty and execution,

:01:08. > :01:12.what an impact it has had on gymnastics from a global scale,

:01:13. > :01:19.Mitch. It has indeed, and now what the judges have done, they have gone

:01:20. > :01:26.full is Opel, back to focusing on E score rather than difficulty. --

:01:27. > :01:29.they have gone. Gulp. Now the E judges have really got their act

:01:30. > :01:40.together, and it is very tough to get a big score. That, in a way, is

:01:41. > :01:44.the responsibility of the sport to make sure everything is safely done.

:01:45. > :01:48.If you give more marks for execution and you do not encourage people to

:01:49. > :02:24.do skills they cannot do, you're being irresponsible.

:02:25. > :02:34.Some gymnasts take that out to handstand. He is swinging well, lots

:02:35. > :02:38.of speed. Adding the difficulty by increasing the turns. Let's see if

:02:39. > :02:44.he can time the dismount properly. He knows where he is in the air,

:02:45. > :02:50.that is the shore. That is good from the Indian gymnast. I think the body

:02:51. > :03:06.needs to get the oil pan out on that bar. You could hear its squeaking.

:03:07. > :03:19.Ashish Kumar is into 19th. Still a lot of gymnastics to come. Two more

:03:20. > :03:24.pieces. Kristofer Done, this is his halfway stage of the competition. He

:03:25. > :03:26.made those moves but he made them look hard. That is when the judges

:03:27. > :03:47.have a field day. He just catches the toes as he lifts

:03:48. > :03:53.into handstand. He needs to tuck his head in a little bit. You do not

:03:54. > :03:59.want to see the gymnast's ears. You want one straight line from fingers

:04:00. > :04:05.to toes. A good dismount. Such a popular dismount this double pike

:04:06. > :04:09.back somersault. He is delighted with that clean performance. You

:04:10. > :04:12.made the point earlier about the technique and style with the New

:04:13. > :04:26.Zealanders. They have really come on well.

:04:27. > :04:35.No doubt the judges will be having a good chat about the low deliveries

:04:36. > :04:39.on a lot of the moves. Yes, it changes the value of them, if it

:04:40. > :04:45.comes out to handstand it is one value, if it is out late, it is a

:04:46. > :04:52.different value. That is how the difficulty scores can one day be a

:04:53. > :04:58.little bit higher than the next. Keatings thinking ahead to parallel

:04:59. > :05:07.bars. His coaches to his right. It has been interesting in that team

:05:08. > :05:12.competition because Paul Hall, he is obviously keeping an eye on England

:05:13. > :05:16.as well at the same time, there was a battle between coaches in the team

:05:17. > :05:27.competition as well as far as the British team are concerned. The

:05:28. > :05:32.interesting thing is the coaches work in the same region and our

:05:33. > :05:35.close friends, one in each camp. The South African. Onto the bar. He is

:05:36. > :06:04.20 years old. You saw him changing to an ordinary

:06:05. > :06:14.forward grip. Smooth with a full term. He is swinging backwards as

:06:15. > :06:19.well. A full twisting double cup. A little bit easier than the full

:06:20. > :06:20.twist in the double straight division. He is happy to have gone

:06:21. > :06:45.through without any major errors. The last gymnast up on parallel bars

:06:46. > :06:58.in this rotation, the 24-year-old David Bishop.

:06:59. > :07:26.A very short routine from him. Very short. He might be carrying an

:07:27. > :07:33.injury or something but that was a very, very short routine. If the

:07:34. > :07:37.gymnasts actually do less than a certain number of moves that this

:07:38. > :07:41.score is cut in half so they will have all worked out to make sure

:07:42. > :07:49.they include the minimum number of moves, when today? They will have. I

:07:50. > :07:56.wonder if we came to that routine halfway through for some reason

:07:57. > :08:01.because it was extremely short. They have worked on the basis of the less

:08:02. > :08:07.moves you do, the less deductions you can get. If you are not great at

:08:08. > :08:12.it, make it short and sharp. One thing is the shore, the judges will

:08:13. > :08:14.not be long, which for the lads waiting to move on to

:08:15. > :08:21.not be long, which for the lads from fault will be well received.

:08:22. > :08:26.not be long, which for the lads Max Whitlock. He takes a little norm

:08:27. > :08:32.there. I am sure that as nerves, not boredom. -- yawn. Fire macro he is

:08:33. > :08:51.doing a fair bit of pacing. Keatings absolutely in the zone. He

:08:52. > :09:13.made his mistakes in the team final with the parallel dismount.

:09:14. > :09:21.The last gymnast up on the high bars, Siphesihle Biyase from South

:09:22. > :09:26.Africa. He is holding his nerves. South Africa have done well in the

:09:27. > :09:36.competition with three gymnasts in the final. That was a bit lopsided

:09:37. > :09:46.there. He had loads of swing to be able to go into the giant.

:09:47. > :09:54.That was his close bar element. He went for the forward circle. He did

:09:55. > :10:04.another one, much better that time. Quite a difficult element. He is

:10:05. > :10:08.swinging well now. A double twist, double straight. He built that

:10:09. > :10:18.routine very nicely. Very good attempt. As you say, the South

:10:19. > :10:25.Africans have posted a lot of potential in these Commonwealth

:10:26. > :10:37.Games. Very good in the team competition and he as an individual.

:10:38. > :10:50.Two thirds of the way through the competition. Whitlock still

:10:51. > :10:59.focusing. A mix of nations and all with the same joy at being here. It

:11:00. > :11:01.is a great arena and fabulous audiences. It has been full every

:11:02. > :11:15.day. So it is Keatings just behind

:11:16. > :11:22.Whitlock at the moment. I say just behind, there are two marks between

:11:23. > :11:26.them. And then Purvis is just outside the medals at the moment.

:11:27. > :11:32.All is not lost going into what is the fourth piece of apparatus. It is

:11:33. > :11:36.not. He had the slight step to the side but he has got the difficulty.

:11:37. > :11:42.He is one of the top scorers on vault so that is where he has pulled

:11:43. > :11:49.back his marks. Parallel bars is a strong piece for Daniel. This one

:11:50. > :11:53.will go down to the wire. As far as second or third is concerned. We saw

:11:54. > :11:59.Daniel Keatings of Scotland, with his head down, just trying to remain

:12:00. > :12:04.as composed as possible. He has gone superbly throughout this

:12:05. > :12:10.competition. He is having a fantastic competition. And

:12:11. > :12:15.obviously, the crowd will begin airing up even more. Does not help

:12:16. > :12:21.when he watches Max Whitlock vault out of his skin. We have talked

:12:22. > :12:29.about is it worth posting the difficulty but he posted a six. He

:12:30. > :12:35.is one of very few in the world who can do this fault. He is preparing

:12:36. > :12:40.ready for Rio and this year's World Championships. He really needs to

:12:41. > :12:45.keep doing it and getting the competition preparation. He can

:12:46. > :12:52.afford to take a few steps and use that experience. He in himself, he

:12:53. > :12:58.is looking nervous. We saw him taking on oxygen and for the first

:12:59. > :13:05.time we have seen him taking on pressure. The chase is more exciting

:13:06. > :13:10.than maintaining the level you are at. He is in a difficult part of his

:13:11. > :13:17.career. He has all the expectation on him and I have seen him a lot

:13:18. > :13:20.pacing. As you can see, Max Whitlock with two more pieces of apparatus to

:13:21. > :13:27.go is ahead of Daniel Keatings of Scotland, Nile Wilson of England,

:13:28. > :13:33.then back to Scotland with Daniel Purvis. It is wonderful to see all

:13:34. > :13:40.the home nations up there. Jelena grid three Scottish, two English and

:13:41. > :13:45.a Welsh guy all in the top seven. That is great for British

:13:46. > :13:51.gymnastics. Moving onto the parallel bars, it is seen as a similar piece

:13:52. > :13:56.to the pommel horse, because it is a supporting peace. You have seen a

:13:57. > :14:02.lot of them in the qualification go through the routines and maybe take

:14:03. > :14:04.the big step on the dismount and Daniel Keatings had a fall, so they

:14:05. > :14:07.have got to concentrate right down to the last minute. But step

:14:08. > :14:12.forward, step back or fall, could be the difference between a medal or

:14:13. > :14:17.not at these championships. It is all about the two bars here which is

:14:18. > :14:19.your forte as well. The lads get a bit of time to adjust it

:14:20. > :14:23.your forte as well. The lads get a bit of time because you can move the

:14:24. > :14:29.apparatus to suit you. Every gymnast will have their own wit. They put

:14:30. > :14:35.highly on it and they make a bit of time to make sure it is prepared.

:14:36. > :14:44.Going into this, it is obviously going to be Whitlock, Keatings,

:14:45. > :14:49.Wilson! Purvis is still there, he is only .5 behind. It is a strong

:14:50. > :14:54.piece. Do you know what, they all deserve it. They have all been up

:14:55. > :14:55.there at some stage. Nile is a junior, he is

:14:56. > :15:00.there at some stage. Nile is a junior, he only a few weeks out of

:15:01. > :15:06.the Junior Europeans. How is he doing it? He has done a lot of work

:15:07. > :15:12.alongside the senior boys so he has seen Howard they have been training.

:15:13. > :15:16.He was just incredible. He has got that focus and he is determined. He

:15:17. > :15:22.knows what he has got to do. The routines are so easy for him. Let's

:15:23. > :15:27.have a look at who is lining up and what order they will be going in on

:15:28. > :15:28.this piece of apparatus. The two Australian lads are chalking up the

:15:29. > :15:44.bar. Daniel Keatings and Nile Wilson have

:15:45. > :15:47.got a long wait. The vault was over pretty quickly so they had to wait

:15:48. > :15:51.and watch the rest of the gymnasts go round. And then him being the

:15:52. > :15:58.penultimate gymnast, that will play with his mind. But Daniel is an

:15:59. > :16:04.experienced gymnast. He will take himself off to a corner and prepare.

:16:05. > :16:07.He will have prepared for this. Doing the championships, that

:16:08. > :16:14.something you have to expect, sometimes you have to wait half an

:16:15. > :16:20.hour. How deflated you think Frank Baines will be feeling? It is

:16:21. > :16:24.difficult. He had a serious accident last year. He wants to perform to

:16:25. > :16:30.his best that he has another two apparatus to show he has the mental

:16:31. > :16:31.strength to get going. Let's get back to the action with Mitch and

:16:32. > :16:48.Christine in the commentary box. routine of Mikhail Koudinov. He has

:16:49. > :16:56.done very well, a very stylish gymnast, from New Zealand. Showing

:16:57. > :17:04.his style, holding the shape beautifully. Each gymnast is allowed

:17:05. > :17:12.to include one roll-out in their routine. He needs to land on his

:17:13. > :17:17.feet. A double twist. He does. Opened with a very nice straight

:17:18. > :17:26.front, Egypt double front somersault. Controlled and good for

:17:27. > :17:34.work. -- a double front. -- floor work.

:17:35. > :17:45.First up for Wales is Iwan Mepham. One of the youngest gymnasts here,

:17:46. > :17:50.17 years old, from Wales. Straight into his release element. Good

:17:51. > :17:57.flight. Another big release. Lovely technique.

:17:58. > :18:07.The turns are meant to be any -- as near to hand stand as possible, that

:18:08. > :18:17.was a bit late. But he is swinging with confidence. Building got the

:18:18. > :18:24.swing changes. He lives at high. -- holding up. That was a shame. One

:18:25. > :18:29.mark deducted. And it was going so well, he was swinging with

:18:30. > :18:34.confidence. What a shame. He has worked with confidence, he was very

:18:35. > :18:43.cross with himself. The leader of the men's competition is first. On

:18:44. > :18:47.parallel bars for this group. He is putting on some guards to show as he

:18:48. > :18:54.will do a lot of work in that position. -- to show is. Swinging

:18:55. > :19:09.from the shoulder. He has a bag of chalky rings -- of chalk that the

:19:10. > :19:12.rings from his own gym. He is taking his mind off things because whatever

:19:13. > :19:35.he watches will not do him any good. Go to a happy place! Do your

:19:36. > :19:36.routine. Max Whitlock leading this all-round competition. Two marks. A

:19:37. > :19:40.clean somersault. Double tuck. He is swinging. Nice

:19:41. > :20:14.shape selection. Forward swing. Down to one bar. A

:20:15. > :20:24.nice handstand from it. Double pike, and a skip back. He really is

:20:25. > :20:38.focused. He is looking so classy. We will see him again in the parallel

:20:39. > :20:49.bar final, the fifth piece -- the fifth highest score on that piece of

:20:50. > :20:58.apparatus in qualifications so far. It is the dream competition for six

:20:59. > :21:02.to floor. He looks totally in control. For all the pacing. -- Max

:21:03. > :21:11.Whitlock. That hands down on the dismount was costly. 14.1.

:21:12. > :21:17.Panagiotis Aristotelous, he did get into the high bar final in Delhi in

:21:18. > :21:26.the Commonwealth Games. How much work has he been putting on over the

:21:27. > :21:35.last four years? -- putting in. Shop and smooth to open with. Quickly you

:21:36. > :21:41.can make those pirouettes. His coaches hovering. Something big is

:21:42. > :21:55.going to come. -- his coach is hovering. He had to upstart out of

:21:56. > :22:09.it and it now looks like he is using an exit routine. Nice shape at the

:22:10. > :22:13.top. The gymnasts have to swing backwards and forwards. The

:22:14. > :22:17.shoulders plummeted. Double, double. He was a bit disappointed. There

:22:18. > :22:21.were too many errors. Even at the end, I do not know where his

:22:22. > :22:25.deductions would have stopped because he wandered up to the

:22:26. > :22:36.dismount and then he saluted the judges. 14.966. Very close to the

:22:37. > :22:46.golden 15. Max Whitlock now well ahead. Nice to have margins for

:22:47. > :22:53.error. Another battle is for silver and bronze. Daniel Keatings in the

:22:54. > :22:58.silver medal position. What a competition Clinton Purnell is

:22:59. > :23:11.having. In fifth position at the moment. Behind Daniel Purvis.

:23:12. > :23:19.Hesitation in the swing. Locked out the handstand nicely. Both those

:23:20. > :23:24.skills. He really needs to keep focused now because this is the best

:23:25. > :23:35.competition in terms of scoring and consistency that he has ever had at

:23:36. > :23:43.this level. He keeps the swing. A swinging half term. Double pike. He

:23:44. > :23:48.is keeping it up. He did well with that dismount to just have one pace

:23:49. > :23:55.back, it could have been a lot worse. It could, it was a bit flat.

:23:56. > :23:59.Others have sat down when they have landed like that. This is his terms

:24:00. > :24:06.and he is not going to throw it away. The score for Panagiotis

:24:07. > :24:10.Aristotelous on high bars. That takes him temporarily into fourth.

:24:11. > :24:15.When you said he wandered off, he almost said to the judges, that was

:24:16. > :24:22.rubbish. Utterly deflated. You have to keep the show up. The high bar

:24:23. > :24:34.lies in wait for the gymnast from Singapore. China starts his swing.

:24:35. > :24:38.-- Gabriel Gan. So many gymnasts choosing to start with that and he

:24:39. > :24:46.is showing as he cannot do it, missing it twice. -- showing others.

:24:47. > :24:53.It would have been better with his feet together at the beginning. Now

:24:54. > :25:01.he has got going much better. And a good dislocation. He has got very

:25:02. > :25:09.nice work, this gymnast. Double straight dismount. So nothing wrong

:25:10. > :25:13.with his feet on the landing. At that as a coach, you would like to

:25:14. > :25:18.get your hands on that gymnast. Huge potential, lovely shape. The shapes

:25:19. > :25:26.he is making without twists are perfect. The basic swing is

:25:27. > :25:44.beautiful. Talk .9. Clinton Purnell. -- 12.9. A young Nile Wilson watches

:25:45. > :25:55.on. Scott is the thumbs up. It is going ever so well for you, mate!

:25:56. > :26:02.Luke Wadsworth for Australia now, and he was not too shabby on this in

:26:03. > :26:08.qualification. Yes, he is a small man with soft and supple shoulders.

:26:09. > :26:15.That is why the apparatus suits him. A double move between gymnast and

:26:16. > :26:20.coach. He did well to rescue that. Slight bent arms on the first two

:26:21. > :26:32.elements and that is very difficult. A double grasp on one rail.

:26:33. > :26:44.Has he got his geography right? Back. In the right position. Good

:26:45. > :26:53.upgrades, this had better be a front. Nicely done, keeping good

:26:54. > :27:00.swing. Double pike. A pace back, and a few scary moments at the start. He

:27:01. > :27:09.sorted his arms out eventually. And he is preparing the bars for his

:27:10. > :27:13.team-mates. Good team spirit, salute and go back to the parallel bars and

:27:14. > :27:20.give as much preparation time as possible. And keep the competition

:27:21. > :27:27.moving. 10.933, the lowest high Bosco we have seen. Gabriel Gan. He

:27:28. > :27:31.had effectively two falls on the apparatus when he tried to straddle

:27:32. > :27:39.up to handstand twice, and that was very costly. Rakesh Patra. We have

:27:40. > :27:43.been so impressed with him. In any strong elements of the apparatus

:27:44. > :27:49.that requires strength. Not so much flowing in the swinging but maybe

:27:50. > :27:51.that will improve here, Chris. This will be a test for him and it looks

:27:52. > :27:55.like he is going for it. will be a test for him and it looks

:27:56. > :28:07.like he is With a half turn, lovely swing out. Not a gymnast to hold

:28:08. > :28:24.back, I do not think. He has used that skill twice. A half turn.

:28:25. > :28:30.best and that was it bit late on the dislocation. -- a bit. But the

:28:31. > :28:35.energy is really good. I hope the times this dismount properly. He

:28:36. > :28:44.kicks back, a fall twisting, that was good. What was a very optimistic

:28:45. > :28:49.routine from a difficulty perspective, he had a go. He had a

:28:50. > :28:57.go, but it was controlled, he knew what he was doing. It was not just

:28:58. > :29:03.wild. Rakesh Patra obviously putting in a lot of work in the gym. A hope

:29:04. > :29:09.for the future. One of the highest scores of his five so far, one more

:29:10. > :29:14.piece to go for him. Two more for this young man, 21 years old, and he

:29:15. > :29:22.will be the last gymnast on parallel bars so still a bit of a wait for

:29:23. > :29:28.Max. Naoya Tsukahara will set the pace and the tempo nice -- now.

:29:29. > :29:37.Beautiful to watch on this apparatus and the qualified with the fourth

:29:38. > :29:43.prize score in qualification. -- fourth highest score. It was a

:29:44. > :29:52.beautiful exercise. Can he bring it out again? Slight you short, it is a

:29:53. > :29:55.difficult skill. -- slightly short. And the second was slightly short.

:29:56. > :30:00.Not quite the edge he had in qualifying. But that was beautiful.

:30:01. > :30:27.He keeps the swing. Just squeezing it through. You can

:30:28. > :30:36.see the tension is not there that was there in qualifying. The double

:30:37. > :30:41.pike is impressive. He was in sixth position after the last rotation. A

:30:42. > :30:47.reminder that Max Whitlock of England's leaders after the last

:30:48. > :31:05.rotation. Daniel Keatings of Scotland in second. Nile Wilson of

:31:06. > :31:12.England in third. Ashish Kumar on high bar. He managed to get into the

:31:13. > :31:18.overall competition in Delhi in front of the home crowd. They can

:31:19. > :31:35.give a lift to their gymnasts. And he has impressed here.

:31:36. > :31:42.to grow an extra few centimetres to make that catch.

:31:43. > :31:47.Keep the swing going. He just over controlled it. The

:31:48. > :31:50.Keep the swing going. He just over controlled it. pace of the routine

:31:51. > :31:58.changes depending on what you want from it. You can see when he is

:31:59. > :32:05.going to turn, he brings his hands in close. Not the most difficult

:32:06. > :32:12.dismount but nice work. It floated away from the bar. It was a

:32:13. > :32:26.delightful dismount. A good view of the Pact Hydro arena.

:32:27. > :32:34.Tsukahara has one more piece of apparatus to go.

:32:35. > :32:44.Daniel Purvis is just .5 outside of the medals after the last rotation.

:32:45. > :32:48.This is a very, very important piece for him. And it is a good piece for

:32:49. > :32:59.him. He made a mistake but recovered

:33:00. > :33:16.well. Dan Purvis has got himself together

:33:17. > :33:18.after what could have been a big problem. Straddle front, nicely

:33:19. > :33:32.done. A double pike and he landed it

:33:33. > :33:40.nicely. There was a hairy moment right at the start of that routine.

:33:41. > :33:49.He has just got to hope that the judges will be kind. The difficulty

:33:50. > :33:54.will be down a little bit as he left at the one rail element. But he got

:33:55. > :33:57.through cleanly. I do not think it will be a good enough routine to

:33:58. > :34:29.make inroads if all the others work well. They have all got yet to go.

:34:30. > :34:44.He is quite tall gymnast, swinging powerfully. One and a half

:34:45. > :34:49.pirouettes. Up very nicely into handstand. The legs shot out at the

:34:50. > :35:05.right moment. A strong Tkachev with half turn.

:35:06. > :35:20.This is a very impressive routine. He was very late putting the twist

:35:21. > :35:24.in. A good landing. That is his fifth piece of apparatus over with.

:35:25. > :35:31.One more to go and the New Zealanders will finish on the floor.

:35:32. > :35:36.They really have made great strides, Christine, in terms of style and

:35:37. > :35:37.putting good exercise together. New Zealand are impressing at these

:35:38. > :36:03.championships. Oh dear, it will not be good enough.

:36:04. > :36:12.Every 10th is vital. I have just been doing some maths. It is not my

:36:13. > :36:13.strong point. Frank Baines for Scotland on his penultimate piece of

:36:14. > :36:32.apparatus. Very unusual preparation technique

:36:33. > :36:57.but it is paying off for him. He is swinging well in support. He

:36:58. > :37:06.sets up the double pike, very nice, very clean, well done. He has come

:37:07. > :37:11.back on song. Frank Baines, the highest qualifier on parallel bars.

:37:12. > :37:18.We will see him again and that routine again on the parallel bars

:37:19. > :37:24.final the day after tomorrow. But this is a crucial routine for Daniel

:37:25. > :37:32.Keatings. We will get Kristofer Done's score from high bar first. He

:37:33. > :37:37.is into seventh at the moment. It is a good score. Scores are hard to

:37:38. > :37:42.come by on high bar. David Bishop for New Zealand. Sean Ohara to

:37:43. > :38:03.follow him. A really good lift of the chest on

:38:04. > :38:09.that Tkachev. All these release and catches are done close to the bar or

:38:10. > :38:11.with lots of height and flight. If you have lots of height and flight,

:38:12. > :38:38.you get more marks. Good position! What a landing!

:38:39. > :38:45.Certainly one of the best landings we have seen on high bar. I think

:38:46. > :38:50.even he is surprised as well. It does bear repeating that New

:38:51. > :38:56.Zealanders have really thumped their style, their signature onto this

:38:57. > :39:00.competition. They have made such strides, not only in difficulty, you

:39:01. > :39:04.can see a lot of call work is done, a lot of basic skills have been

:39:05. > :39:07.hammered and they really know where they are. This is really good to

:39:08. > :39:26.see, good for the Commonwealth. Frank Baines preparing for high bar.

:39:27. > :39:32.We will see him again in the parallel bars final. I think he

:39:33. > :39:38.clipped his feet on the floor. This is a crucial routine for Daniel

:39:39. > :39:44.Keatings. He is currently in silver medal position. There was a mark

:39:45. > :39:49.between him and Nile Wilson in bronze but Nile Wilson has 0.7 on

:39:50. > :40:05.him on high bar. So just .3 to play with him. -- here.

:40:06. > :40:18.Very positive in the under somersault elements.

:40:19. > :40:50.A little bit of hesitation here from Dan Keatings.

:40:51. > :40:57.There were some errors there. It did not go to plan but he reassessed and

:40:58. > :41:01.he got what he could out of it. Will it be enough? We will have to wait

:41:02. > :41:07.until the end of high bar to find out. It was a good, good stylish

:41:08. > :41:15.performance. He covered his tracks well. He certainly major of this

:41:16. > :41:36.dismount, where he did not in the team qualification. He made sure he

:41:37. > :41:38.met the floor properly. If they give him all the difficulty, he will not

:41:39. > :41:50.suffer too badly. The second group on high bar from

:41:51. > :42:05.Australia. This is a nerve wracking peaceful

:42:06. > :42:30.spectator and gymnast alike. He was a little bit late on the

:42:31. > :42:43.pirouette. You can see the coach anxiously hovering underneath.

:42:44. > :42:51.A big pace forward. Quite a short routine. He just packed everything

:42:52. > :42:58.in as quickly as he could. He is having a few problems with his left

:42:59. > :43:06.hand. He has probably got a rip on his wrist. He will enjoy the carpet

:43:07. > :43:13.burns on floor to come. Daniel Keatings has got a very big parallel

:43:14. > :43:19.bar score. He has scored 16. That is his strong peas. That was his big

:43:20. > :43:23.card to play. Still a respectable score. If Nile Wilson is to go ahead

:43:24. > :43:29.of Keatings and give himself every chance on high bar, this is a

:43:30. > :43:40.much-needed parallel bar routine. He is just 18 years old.

:43:41. > :43:50.Very clean to somersault from handstand to upper arms. He had an

:43:51. > :43:54.identical start Keatings. I have to say, it is better at this stage.

:43:55. > :44:32.There is the healy out. double pike back. I will not sit on

:44:33. > :44:38.the fence, he should get a higher score than Daniel Keatings for that

:44:39. > :44:43.routine. The routine, the execution was great. But whether the

:44:44. > :44:54.difficulty was quite as high, we will have to wait and see. Sam

:44:55. > :45:02.Oldham is watching on. Uncanny to produce this majority when a few

:45:03. > :45:11.weeks ago he was a junior. The scores are very hard to come by. I

:45:12. > :45:15.had the opportunity to watch Nile train and I watched him prepare for

:45:16. > :45:22.the Junior Europeans, he works like that in the gym all the time. A

:45:23. > :45:37.first look at floor in this rotation.

:45:38. > :45:47.Clean landings so far. It is short of the straight line in that

:45:48. > :46:12.handstand. Very good, smooth. All these tumbles have got

:46:13. > :46:15.difficulty value. They pack it in. If they can work quickly, they can

:46:16. > :46:35.put more difficulty in. around. So many of these gymnasts

:46:36. > :46:48.performing fees. -- please. No doubt about the level of the competition,

:46:49. > :47:03.very high indeed. 13.5. Aditya Rana. What has he done? 15.433. It was a

:47:04. > :47:09.superb form and is from Nile Wilson, -- superb performance. Well

:47:10. > :47:17.deserved. Much higher than anyone scored in qualification. The top

:47:18. > :47:24.score in qualification was 14.9 so that is some score from Nile Wilson.

:47:25. > :47:30.Max Whitlock in front. Daniel Keatings in second. Daniel Purvis

:47:31. > :47:34.has dropped a bit. Clinton Purnell has dropped to seventh and he will

:47:35. > :47:44.want to go up the rankings with a high bars. -- the high bars. It is a

:47:45. > :47:50.given Max Whitlock is well ahead but the battle is silver and bronze. 4.4

:47:51. > :47:56.in it which is very close, knowing Nile Wilson beat Daniel Keatings in

:47:57. > :48:05.qualification. We knew it would be close, but not

:48:06. > :48:11.this close. This is Nile Wilson's routine. The pressure, yet again.

:48:12. > :48:18.Knowing that this is his chance to claw back and give himself a chance

:48:19. > :48:22.on the high bar. It shows you how well he knows his routine. Scott was

:48:23. > :48:28.speaking to him and he will you saying, you know what you have done

:48:29. > :48:32.in the gym, do the same and forget you are in this major pressurised

:48:33. > :48:38.environment. He is such a classy gymnast to watch. Every skill. The

:48:39. > :48:43.legs locked together. The toes pointed, the arms straight and there

:48:44. > :48:49.is no wobble, he holds a handstand position. He is the junior European

:48:50. > :48:53.champion on high bar. And he will come out of the blocks giving it

:48:54. > :48:58.everything. He well, he has nothing to lose, it is his first year in the

:48:59. > :49:00.senior competition. He is definitely going to come away with a medal,

:49:01. > :49:09.that is a given. How must Daniel Keatings be feeling

:49:10. > :49:14.knowing he let the pressure get to him again? His routine was not too

:49:15. > :49:20.bad, there were some errors. In his eyes, it could be better. You could

:49:21. > :49:27.see his face, he was not happy, he had not given enough to have that

:49:28. > :49:30.advantage. How will the order affect him here? Daniel Keatings is going

:49:31. > :49:35.ahead of Nile Wilson which could come into play. It would be better

:49:36. > :49:45.for Daniel Keatings to be first. Max Whitlock will finish the

:49:46. > :49:51.competition of and deservedly so. And how do you think he will go? He

:49:52. > :49:58.has got nothing to lose again. He has gone out there and I do not

:49:59. > :50:01.expect it to be different with the high bar. He will have his routine

:50:02. > :50:07.and they will not bother changing it to make it easier for him to win a

:50:08. > :50:12.title. These other gymnasts warming got behind us. -- these are the

:50:13. > :50:21.gymnasts. Mail Wilson just focusing on the high bar. -- Nile Wilson.

:50:22. > :50:30.Just throw at, do a couple of twists! -- throw him. Our youngest

:50:31. > :50:37.member in the making. Look at how relaxed years. He is getting a feel

:50:38. > :50:43.for the bars. Even stylish in warm up. Yes, there is nothing to deduct.

:50:44. > :50:51.He has the difficulty and execution on his side. The first gymnast is

:50:52. > :50:54.ready to go on the floor. Panagiotis Aristotelous, from Cyprus. One of

:50:55. > :51:00.the older gymnasts in the competition. We were talking how

:51:01. > :51:05.wonderful it was to see Naoya Tsukahara on the world stage, at

:51:06. > :51:12.this lad equally as old, at 27. -- but this lad. Over to commentary for

:51:13. > :51:17.the last piece of apparatus for this meant's team final. All to play for

:51:18. > :51:24.on this high bar. -- men's. A very popular series of moves.

:51:25. > :51:33.Front somersault. The 1.5 backwards into the front, with half. A

:51:34. > :51:50.compulsory element that the gymnasts have to do. An Arabian half turn.

:51:51. > :51:53.build difficulty. A full twist in front, an immediate dive roll. --

:51:54. > :52:06.twisting. A good double twist. That was not a

:52:07. > :52:13.hugely difficult routine and he looked a bit unhappy throughout.

:52:14. > :52:24.Complaining about his hand slipping. We saw him not terribly happy on

:52:25. > :52:28.high bar as well. Clinton Purnell from Wales has had a storming

:52:29. > :52:33.competition. He was in seventh on the last rotation and he will be

:52:34. > :52:42.looking to get every point the camp on Frank Raines, in sixth. Naoya

:52:43. > :52:46.Tsukahara six. For now, it is all about this.

:52:47. > :53:08.Good on the full turn. A good start. 1.5 turns. Nice and leisurely. Into

:53:09. > :53:19.the inverted swing. This can catch people out. A little bit late,

:53:20. > :53:25.without a turn. He is of with a full twist double straight. And that was

:53:26. > :53:30.a very secure competition from Clinton Purnell, he will be

:53:31. > :53:35.absolutely delighted. His second Commonwealth Games and he made the

:53:36. > :53:39.most of it. You cannot ask for anything more than six pieces

:53:40. > :53:44.without a major error. And in this company, to be coming in around

:53:45. > :54:16.seventh is not bad at all. The head is fixed between the arms.

:54:17. > :54:24.He releases for the double straight. High above the bar. The legs are

:54:25. > :54:26.locked together. He sees the floor. He springs the arms out to steady

:54:27. > :54:39.the body. Delighted with his all-round

:54:40. > :54:56.competition. Panagiotis Aristotelous. A score of 12.7.

:54:57. > :55:02.Gabriel Gannon now, from Singapore. -- Gabriel Gan. I think we will see

:55:03. > :55:09.some twisting here, Chris. I do not know. The first tumble. Beautiful,

:55:10. > :55:16.classy, there is obviously some problem. That was better. If front

:55:17. > :55:27.somersault with 1.5 twists. -- a front.

:55:28. > :55:44.A little bit of double circle work. He looks much happier in support.

:55:45. > :55:49.Good wide and handstand. Held for the required time. -- white

:55:50. > :56:06.handstand. Are we are going to see something

:56:07. > :56:12.more exciting to finish with? Yes, double twist to finish with. I think

:56:13. > :56:16.he is maybe nursing an ankle problem because if you think about the

:56:17. > :56:25.dismounts, he certainly has played safe. He said earlier that he is

:56:26. > :56:31.ready to add a difficulty to his repertoire if he is not going to

:56:32. > :56:36.will. -- to add difficulty to his repertoire if he is not going well.

:56:37. > :56:48.That is not too shabby for Clinton Purnell. That is a good score. Very

:56:49. > :56:58.respectable. Luke Wadsworth, his last piece of apparatus. Such a test

:56:59. > :57:12.of strength and some -- and stamina. A little bit of hesitation. The

:57:13. > :57:19.swinging element from it. Half turn. Very carefully placing his hands. A

:57:20. > :57:29.little bit late. But this is very difficult.

:57:30. > :57:42.Very well done indeed! So he has had a consistent competition as well,

:57:43. > :57:47.Luke Wadsworth. He lands the sixth piece as he would have hoped, you

:57:48. > :57:57.dream about a dismount like that at the end of a round. The consistency

:57:58. > :58:08.has been capped Ching. -- catching. 10.933. He is consistent. Sorry, I

:58:09. > :58:15.gave the high bar score. That felt like quite a high score. Rakesh

:58:16. > :58:21.Patra now, on floor. The power house. Completely different style.

:58:22. > :58:27.The double Iranian, half turn into a double front. Nothing leisurely

:58:28. > :58:36.about this gymnast. -- double Arabian. Half turn.

:58:37. > :58:44.I am not sure that was held quite long enough.

:58:45. > :59:05.A double twist. He just loses his head a bit on his twisting which

:59:06. > :59:11.means he ends up hiking down. He meets the floor and he rolls

:59:12. > :59:22.forwards. Not the best shape in the handstand. We getting now? -- what

:59:23. > :59:29.are we getting now? He goes for it but he lost himself. He lost where

:59:30. > :59:35.he was and a hands down at the finish. Talking about the power, he

:59:36. > :59:39.lost -- you started the last tumble three quarters of the way up. -- you

:59:40. > :59:51.started. A poor construction of exercise. Luke Wadsworth, for the

:59:52. > :59:58.high bar. The next gymnast as Naoya Tsukahara. -- the next gymnast is.

:59:59. > :00:12.He is the current all-round Australian champion. Residency in

:00:13. > :00:21.Australia since 2013. An interesting classic addition to the Australian

:00:22. > :00:24.team. Classic, indeed. You can expect to see on this apparatus, the

:00:25. > :00:43.Japanese are really good on the high bar. A full turn. He has rescued it.

:00:44. > :00:47.So much time in the turn. And on the one and a half. Great to watch. A

:00:48. > :01:06.bit flat. But a nice kick out. A full twist. They do have a special

:01:07. > :01:14.style. The Japanese have an aura about them. The three-time Olympian

:01:15. > :01:26.finishes as he has done many an all-round competition with style.

:01:27. > :01:35.but the sort of gritty performer has gone now. Nearly every piece that

:01:36. > :01:39.has been the odd error as well. He just tucked the leg up on the long

:01:40. > :01:50.swing when he did not have enough swing. That, I guess, is the

:01:51. > :01:51.difference from when you are at your absolute peak, a veteran of three

:01:52. > :02:25.Olympics. That final twist proved too tricky

:02:26. > :02:26.for Rakesh Patra. Ashish Kumar finishes his six piece of apparatus

:02:27. > :02:38.on floor. What a shame. He was just too

:02:39. > :03:02.controlled. He is just not quite round, gave the

:03:03. > :03:03.judges opportunity to deduct. That is a nice controlled handstand

:03:04. > :03:16.though. As he met the floor, his legs were

:03:17. > :03:30.extending. Good style, legs beautifully

:03:31. > :03:53.together. A bull twist to finished, very

:03:54. > :04:17.clean. -- a pull twist to finish. -- triple twist.

:04:18. > :04:26.The raw for Daniel Purvis from Scotland, rounds off his all-around

:04:27. > :04:32.competition on high bar. It will be impressive. Yes, he will not be

:04:33. > :05:00.faint-hearted, he will go for it. Late on the want with five twist but

:05:01. > :05:16.he is absolutely determined here to go out with a flourish. -- 1.5

:05:17. > :05:24.twist. Quite technique. A double double, nice landing, well done, Dan

:05:25. > :05:28.Purvis. He lands with absolute respect from the crowd here at the

:05:29. > :05:35.Hydro but he will not threaten for a medal. He was two marks going down

:05:36. > :05:45.-- two marks down going into this apparatus. Scotland's hopes lie with

:05:46. > :05:50.that man, Daniel Keatings now. He has been a bit in and out through

:05:51. > :05:55.these championships, Dan Purvis, which is not what we have come to

:05:56. > :05:59.respect. He has been Mr reliable over the last few years for the

:06:00. > :06:04.British team. He has had little mistakes everywhere. The law was

:06:05. > :06:13.great, that was one of his best pieces. -- floor was great. Ashish

:06:14. > :06:46.Kumar with his best score yet. Mikhail Koudinov, the last gymnast

:06:47. > :06:50.to go on pommel horse. We saw him with the air on high bar but I'm

:06:51. > :06:57.sure he has got all his preparations in order for this piece. He starts

:06:58. > :07:01.with a very nice handstand. A little bit of hesitation as he came down

:07:02. > :07:21.but this is lovely work. He split his legs but recovered for

:07:22. > :07:28.the dismount. The story of many other gymnast on the pommel horse. A

:07:29. > :07:40.good display of gymnastics from the New Zealanders. Indeed, they have

:07:41. > :07:41.impressed, good strides forward. Dan Purvis contemplates what could have

:07:42. > :07:57.been. That is not the best all-around

:07:58. > :08:04.score he has had. He is in the 90 plus club. This lad is also in a

:08:05. > :08:16.high bar final. He has some moves on this bit of kit.

:08:17. > :08:45.Very clean, very high, lovely technique.

:08:46. > :09:17.A little deep touch with the knees. I don't think he touched. A fine

:09:18. > :09:20.display of technique and difficulty from Frank Baines. It is really the

:09:21. > :09:27.connection where he is lacking a bit, Chris. I think it is

:09:28. > :09:32.confidence. He did have a nasty injury six months or so ago. When

:09:33. > :09:37.you say nasty, he broke his back. Yes, it affected his confidence plus

:09:38. > :09:44.he has grown a lot when he was injured. He was a junior and he has

:09:45. > :09:50.come into the senior ranks. It has just taken its toll bit. But I think

:09:51. > :09:53.he will come back strongly and give him another year or so, Frank

:09:54. > :10:07.Baines, and I think he will be a force to be reckoned with.

:10:08. > :10:35.Looking for power and style here on floor. He starts off well.

:10:36. > :10:41.The gymnasts try to rebound from one somersault to the next so they do

:10:42. > :10:48.not have to take so many landing deductions. It is also a good way to

:10:49. > :11:14.build your difficulty, two moves together. That was a nice handstand.

:11:15. > :11:21.That was a difficult combination. Worth a lot but not if you put your

:11:22. > :11:28.hand down because that is one full mark off. He waves to the Hydro and

:11:29. > :11:34.that is him done for now. But he will be back tomorrow in the floor

:11:35. > :11:47.final. It is a punishing schedule, this, for the gymnasts.

:11:48. > :11:54.Frank Baines, that is his six piece is done and some valuable lessons

:11:55. > :11:59.learned, no doubt, in front of this huge crowd as Daniel Keatings is

:12:00. > :12:02.introduced. Now, you will have to produce some magic here, my man.

:12:03. > :12:45.This for a silver medal. Keatings is going very well. If ever

:12:46. > :12:57.he needed to produce work like this, it is right now. Here is the

:12:58. > :13:02.dismount, a full twist. Well done, Mr Keatings! It could not have been

:13:03. > :13:07.any better, he has done what he can. He just has to hope we will now see

:13:08. > :13:13.itching in the armour of Nile Wilson. That was absolutely

:13:14. > :13:23.fabulous. The whole crowd willing him on. He did every move to his

:13:24. > :13:28.maximum. Goodness me. A little bit of congratulations passed on from

:13:29. > :13:34.Nile Wilson as he makes his way over to the chalk bin. A lot of people

:13:35. > :13:39.watching might have doubted his consistency, Christine, but he

:13:40. > :13:43.produced it. Look at this. A full stretch, he really gave it

:13:44. > :13:49.everything, didn't he? Interestingly, he has got two

:13:50. > :13:56.different guards on there. Interesting to you, Matt, but it

:13:57. > :14:01.might be his favourite guard. One is with a Velcro wrap and one is with

:14:02. > :14:11.buckles. No, I find that very interesting! You may not, Mitch. You

:14:12. > :14:13.have got to get out more. Yes, he says. He knows he has done

:14:14. > :14:41.everything he can. Nile Wilson will have to wait a

:14:42. > :14:53.moment or two for Sean Ohara, 23 years old.

:14:54. > :15:03.We know he has got power, we have seen it on vault. It is difficult

:15:04. > :15:18.for the gymnasts to stay in the square but he has.

:15:19. > :15:29.He is taking time to think about his tumble.

:15:30. > :15:44.Quite a lot of the gymnasts are choosing not to use the whole of the

:15:45. > :16:06.diagonal, just taking a short run. He had a quick look at the score to

:16:07. > :16:10.make sure he is not under time, and he is not. That is a very nice

:16:11. > :16:31.finish from Sean Ohara. performance on floor. Daniel

:16:32. > :16:50.Keatings is waiting. To see what the judges would think. It is 14.766.

:16:51. > :17:02.88.298. Nile Wilson here with it all to do. He was in bronze medal

:17:03. > :17:10.position. Daniel Keatings has laid down the gauntlet. We may see

:17:11. > :17:21.pressure for the first time from this young man. Emphatic in the

:17:22. > :17:37.release. Emphatic in the full twist. And confident. No sign of nerves at

:17:38. > :17:40.all. The pirouette is close. Another release which was confident. And

:17:41. > :17:54.another is coming up. A little bit flat but it does not

:17:55. > :18:08.matter, the inverts were nicely done. Watch the shape change. A kick

:18:09. > :18:16.up the front. Mr Wilson, have you done it? He needs something in the

:18:17. > :18:22.region of 15.1 to do it. Daniel Keatings, 14.766. He looks to the

:18:23. > :18:30.sky with hope. Is it still for all runs? Well, whatever, he has had a

:18:31. > :18:38.fantastic, addition. -- is it silver or bronze. What a gymnast. Two, here

:18:39. > :18:49.and to perform in the way he has is not just good news for him but for

:18:50. > :18:55.British gymnastics -- to come here. They bring gymnast through from

:18:56. > :19:03.junior rankings, not many nations can do that. A thumbs up from Sam

:19:04. > :19:11.Oldham who can only applaud. And he was Junior European champion once as

:19:12. > :19:16.well. And these young lads have come through for the last six years from

:19:17. > :19:26.the junior teams. He kept his form on that. His knees locked together.

:19:27. > :19:29.He is a sophisticated technician. I think he is a really natural

:19:30. > :19:37.gymnast, he has that natural feel. That step upwards was the one error

:19:38. > :19:41.we have seen today. -- backwards. I am sure people watching of thinking,

:19:42. > :19:50.how is he doing his moves at such a young gauge? It is quite remarkable.

:19:51. > :19:59.-- age. Hours of training, so much dedication. Will he be rewarded with

:20:00. > :20:07.a silver medal? No, he has not. It says second, but Daniel Keatings is

:20:08. > :20:17.leading. He is happy with a medal. Daniel Keatings will take silver and

:20:18. > :20:24.Nile Wilson bronze. Daniel Keatings just glanced at the scoreboard. The

:20:25. > :20:36.Gold medal will surely go to Max Whitlock? Will he go all out for

:20:37. > :20:41.difficulty? Will he keep this going? Or will he for the first time play

:20:42. > :20:45.safe? Max Whitlock with a chance of old in the men's all-round at the

:20:46. > :20:51.Commonwealth Games. The advice would be, do what you have trained. Do not

:20:52. > :21:03.try to cut down or to step up, do what you have trained.

:21:04. > :21:21.A bit wide. A full turn. Lovely. He is not compromising.

:21:22. > :21:31.Nicely locked out from the shoulders. A leisurely turn. A full

:21:32. > :21:41.turn. He changes shape. The next swing. And the landing! He has

:21:42. > :21:49.absolutely nailed all six pieces of apparatus. Max Whitlock has just

:21:50. > :22:00.landed on a Gold medal! What a star! They have all been great. Sparkling.

:22:01. > :22:07.Absolutely brilliant performance from 65 map pro and he did not hold

:22:08. > :22:11.back. -- from Max Whitlock. You have to say in that situation, do what

:22:12. > :22:17.you have trained. That is not his style. There was never going to be

:22:18. > :22:22.any holding back. If he was going to hold back, it would have been on the

:22:23. > :22:28.vault. Wrist yen and Louis Smith delighted. -- Christian. It was

:22:29. > :22:32.stratospheric. He kept his head, there was a lot of ritual between

:22:33. > :22:41.the apparatus to keep his focus and it paid off! The current British

:22:42. > :22:47.champion has not defended his title this year. It is always tougher to

:22:48. > :22:54.defend than to win in the first place. -- has defended.

:22:55. > :23:07.A good swing. Not so much one of his signature pieces, the high bar, but

:23:08. > :23:14.very efficient. And this, for what we have come to know him so well

:23:15. > :23:20.for, his multiple twists. A double twist at the end of that double

:23:21. > :23:29.straight. Now he can smile. That is lovely. Team-mates. Most of the

:23:30. > :23:33.time. Rivals today. You would never believe it from that shot. Fantastic

:23:34. > :23:44.camera Roger Eve. And absolute respect for one another. --

:23:45. > :23:59.fantastic camaraderie. Confirmation, he finishes with a bang. 15.1. A

:24:00. > :24:05.world-class score. He is in the Super League. He really is. He has

:24:06. > :24:13.got his eye on making inroads in the World Championships. I am thrilled

:24:14. > :24:23.for Daniel Keatings. What a cracker of a competition.

:24:24. > :24:35.Look at that total. 90.6. Two days in a row he hit the 90 barrier. It

:24:36. > :24:42.is incredible, Daniel Keatings is two marks behind but Max stole the

:24:43. > :24:48.show. I thought, is he going to play safe? Why risk it? I knew he would

:24:49. > :24:53.not play it safe, he knows what he is going to do. And you do not want

:24:54. > :25:00.to mess with a gymnast's mind too much. Why starts taking stuff out to

:25:01. > :25:06.mess with it? Let's treat ourselves to it one more time. He came into

:25:07. > :25:12.this with an element of a relaxed feel but he wanted to nail that 90.

:25:13. > :25:16.He did, and that is the big thing, going into the World Championships.

:25:17. > :25:22.Everything was done to the maximum, it was not played safe. A bit

:25:23. > :25:24.scrappy on that at that was the only wild things throughout the routine.

:25:25. > :25:27.-- at. The wild things throughout the routine.

:25:28. > :25:36.-- at. handstand, near enough perfect. Height on the releasing

:25:37. > :25:41.catch, and the legs locked together, straight arms. He has great flair

:25:42. > :25:46.and style throughout the routine. When the order is put together on

:25:47. > :25:51.this final, the highest qualifier normally wraps up the competition

:25:52. > :25:56.and they go last. So all eyes on him and he knew that when he launched

:25:57. > :26:05.with this this month. Goodness me! You want to nail this routine. I was

:26:06. > :26:10.watching his coach. As soon as he landed and nailed it, Scott was

:26:11. > :26:13.jumping up and down. You have done that so many times, what does it

:26:14. > :26:15.feel like when you see your feet are perfectly positioned and you have

:26:16. > :26:24.nailed it? It is relief that the hard work and

:26:25. > :26:30.tears to get to that point has finally paid off. I spoke to him in

:26:31. > :26:35.2011 at the World Championships, he was named as reserve and he was so

:26:36. > :26:40.disappointed. I said, your time will come, do not panic, and he has

:26:41. > :26:44.proved it. As the boot -- has he peaked too early for the World

:26:45. > :26:50.Championships? I do not think so, he has great support, they will have a

:26:51. > :26:54.bit of downtime after this game is and they will go back in preparation

:26:55. > :27:00.for the World Championships. Which is not far away. It is the beginning

:27:01. > :27:04.of October so they will have a bit of downtime but he will keep his

:27:05. > :27:10.stamina and his fitness going. And will he stick with the same

:27:11. > :27:14.routines? Yes, that was the purpose of this competition. The reason he

:27:15. > :27:18.put out the triple twist on the vault and the difficulty on

:27:19. > :27:22.pommelhorse is to prepare for the World Championships. This was his

:27:23. > :27:26.chance to try let and if it did not work, they could go back to the

:27:27. > :27:32.drawing board. The world is watching, what will everybody be

:27:33. > :27:38.making of a young Nile Wilson? They will be worried. Do they know that

:27:39. > :27:46.we have got more coming through the ranks? We have, and there are more

:27:47. > :27:50.after Nile Wilson. We cannot at some of his performance. We keep saying

:27:51. > :27:56.this, we talk about the composure but he knew what was at stake.

:27:57. > :28:05.You can see the relief on his face at the end of the routine. There is

:28:06. > :28:12.not even a lake separation in it. Does he even impressed you? -- leg.

:28:13. > :28:17.He does, and the somebody to keep an eye on. British gymnastics will be

:28:18. > :28:26.looking after him and his coach will have a plan of action leading up to

:28:27. > :28:32.2016. For the men, it is usually a bit later in their career that they

:28:33. > :28:36.produce. Max Whitlock is only 21. He did the same four years ago in

:28:37. > :28:40.Delhi, he shot onto the scene. Now it is the turn of 66 map row and

:28:41. > :28:48.hopefully he will win the Commonwealth title -- Nile Wilson.

:28:49. > :28:52.What will this mean to Daniel Keatings? Everything to him. He

:28:53. > :28:59.missed out on London 2012, this is the home Games for him. As soon as

:29:00. > :29:05.he landed that dismount, he had that elation on his face. He is such a

:29:06. > :29:10.stylish gymnast. The top three, it is down to position. He did not do

:29:11. > :29:15.himself favours and parallel bars. He did it the hardware it by having

:29:16. > :29:21.a couple of wobbles. That is where experienced shows through. --

:29:22. > :29:26.experience. He can pick himself back up and he has one piece of apparatus

:29:27. > :29:33.to prove himself on and as soon as he lands his dismount, it you see

:29:34. > :29:37.the reaction. -- you see. He has been one of the real stars of

:29:38. > :29:45.British gymnastics. And you know the way you always need somebody to

:29:46. > :29:50.chase? That person you are working towards is so important and crucial,

:29:51. > :29:56.and Daniel, in my eyes, has been that person. He has had an

:29:57. > :30:03.incredible career. Medal after medal. But not in the past couple of

:30:04. > :30:06.years. It was 2009, 2011. He had the disappointment of not going to

:30:07. > :30:12.London and he took it hard but he knew he had this to focus on. It was

:30:13. > :30:17.his home Games. I am so pleased for him, his mum and dad will be in the

:30:18. > :30:23.audience and they have supported him so much. What will this competition

:30:24. > :30:26.do for his chances for the British team selectors? Eddie will be in the

:30:27. > :30:32.audience and he will have been looking at that group. He will be

:30:33. > :30:40.thinking he is quitting for the World Championship. And Frank

:30:41. > :30:44.Baines, as much as anybody here, he has learnt the most. Because

:30:45. > :30:48.sometimes, you need to come out on a stage like this and if it does not

:30:49. > :30:53.go your way, you learn more. He is still so young and he had a major

:30:54. > :30:57.injury last year so he has had to come back for it. He has not

:30:58. > :31:02.necessarily had the same preparation time as the others. The woman a lot

:31:03. > :31:07.from this and he is one to look out for in the future. We are waiting

:31:08. > :31:14.for the gymnast to come out for the medal ceremony. We have two England

:31:15. > :31:16.gymnast and a Scot. They might be looking for a second England flag.

:31:17. > :31:34.These are the results. score is astonishing. Daniel

:31:35. > :31:38.Keatings has a well-deserved silver medal and Nile Wilson with the first

:31:39. > :31:48.of what I'm sure will be many medals.

:31:49. > :31:55.Every gymnast does not always have their moment and unfortunately Dan

:31:56. > :32:00.Purvis had a couple which put him out of the medals. That can be our

:32:01. > :32:06.sport and it can be hard at times. He has been there, he has had the

:32:07. > :32:10.highs and lows. They will all be back in preparation together ready

:32:11. > :32:13.for the World Championships. We have to look ahead to the winning's

:32:14. > :32:19.competition tonight. It is a bit strange really because it is split

:32:20. > :32:27.into two. You have the top 24 and the first 12 will be going second.

:32:28. > :32:33.From an England perspective, Scotland, Wales, one of Christine's

:32:34. > :32:38.gymnasts is in it as well. Do you think it will be closer than the

:32:39. > :32:45.men? I think there will be fewer people contending for the top

:32:46. > :32:50.medals. They are all really close. It is a case of who can hold their

:32:51. > :32:56.nerve on the night. That is the point. Claudia was saying it did not

:32:57. > :33:02.go to plan. It was her senior debut and I thought, give yourself a

:33:03. > :33:08.break. I think she has come here with quite high expectations of

:33:09. > :33:17.herself. She has. They are already on the third day of competition. It

:33:18. > :33:24.is tough to go up, down, get back to the village, eat and get recovered,

:33:25. > :33:29.we will have to see how all the gymnasts react. Back in your day, as

:33:30. > :33:36.far as the Commonwealth Games were concerned... Back in my day? The

:33:37. > :33:47.Commonwealth Games. It was back in my day! You are going there at as an

:33:48. > :33:52.individual perspective. When you go as a team and then switch your focus

:33:53. > :33:56.and say, it is all about me now. The No everyone gave everything for the

:33:57. > :34:21.Commonwealth title yesterday. It was incredible to watch. Overnight they

:34:22. > :34:24.will have had time to reflect. Max will be going out there tomorrow. It

:34:25. > :34:29.is whether his body will recover mentally to come and be double

:34:30. > :34:34.Commonwealth champion and then have to go back into another day's

:34:35. > :34:37.competition. It will be the fifth day of competition by the time he

:34:38. > :34:43.comes to the parallel bars and high bar final. He has got the support

:34:44. > :34:47.behind him to get him fully recovered. I'm sure a lot of people

:34:48. > :34:51.looking at the overall medal table will be seeing how England are

:34:52. > :34:56.closing in on Australia. And now looking at gymnastics to help them

:34:57. > :35:00.do that. That is something where Team England will be able to pull

:35:01. > :35:06.back from Australia. It is unlikely they will pick many medals up. On

:35:07. > :35:11.the girl's side, I'm sure Team England will pick up more than

:35:12. > :35:16.Australia. It is time to add three medals to the medal table now as the

:35:17. > :35:21.Piper marches into the arena. It looks as if he is about to go and do

:35:22. > :35:26.a floor routine but he goes up the stairs. He is aiming for the circle

:35:27. > :35:34.right in the middle of Glasgow. He is well practised at this. I watched

:35:35. > :35:38.him yesterday. I feel like we are commentating on him, beautiful right

:35:39. > :35:52.turn, aiming for the centre. He will nail this dismount, watch. Perfect.

:35:53. > :36:05.So the stage is set. The sounds of the bagpipes which will pre-empt the

:36:06. > :36:37.entry of the notorious gladiators. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome

:36:38. > :36:44.the medal ceremony for the gymnasts from the all-around final. Three

:36:45. > :36:51.superb all-round performances. Lots of drama throughout the competition.

:36:52. > :37:07.The use of Nile Wilson, the comeback of Daniel Keatings and the supremacy

:37:08. > :37:14.of Max Whitlock. It is quite an interesting trio. We saw Max

:37:15. > :37:21.Whitlock go to Beijing. He was the new kids like Nile Wilson is now --

:37:22. > :37:26.we saw Daniel Keatings go to Beijing. The next one to come along

:37:27. > :37:31.now is Max Whitlock. And now the next generation are making their way

:37:32. > :37:37.here. It is really a great comment on British gymnastics, these three

:37:38. > :37:41.gymnasts. Absolutely right, Chris. It is not right to call it a

:37:42. > :37:49.production line but that is what it is, it is a stream of talent and it

:37:50. > :37:50.just keeps on emerging. He was focused all the way through that now

:37:51. > :38:09.he is relaxed. We had a world-class score at the

:38:10. > :38:15.end of the competition and a good tussle behind that for silver and

:38:16. > :38:25.bronze. It just had everything. It really did. A young man with a

:38:26. > :38:37.fabulous guaranteed future, Nile Wilson, just weeks ago, a junior

:38:38. > :38:41.medallist. At this global competition, the Commonwealth Games,

:38:42. > :38:57.he takes a bronze medal. What a future he has. Nile is from Leeds

:38:58. > :39:07.Gymnastics Club. Nile Wilson takes the bronze.

:39:08. > :39:25.There were doubters in the gymnastics fraternity. The doubts

:39:26. > :39:29.were unfounded. He is back emphatically, Daniel Keatings takes

:39:30. > :39:33.a silver medal and so, so well-deserved. Dan Keatings is back

:39:34. > :39:58.on track. Everyone is delighted to see him on

:39:59. > :40:18.the rostrum. So well-deserved, Scotland is proud.

:40:19. > :40:26.You do run out of superlatives but there is one we have not used, this

:40:27. > :40:35.young man is amazing. He just, for six pieces, kept his head. He has

:40:36. > :40:43.made good his weaker apparatus. He kept his focus and he has emerged

:40:44. > :40:54.with a gold medal and a world-class total of over 90. What a

:40:55. > :41:00.Commonwealth champion he is. The whole country is proud of you.

:41:01. > :41:07.An absolutely wonderful performance. Telling the world just how good he

:41:08. > :41:12.is. A solid gold performance, a solid gold reward. Ladies and

:41:13. > :41:46.gentlemen, the National Anthem of England.

:41:47. > :42:49.A great day for the home nations. All medals split between Scotland

:42:50. > :42:54.and England. A brilliant day for gymnastics and for the other

:42:55. > :43:02.nations. Such a rousing anthem, Jerusalem. That felt incredibly

:43:03. > :43:06.emotional. What a picture that is. What a picture. And do you know

:43:07. > :43:11.what, looking at Nile Wilson there, you can just sense that he knows

:43:12. > :43:20.more is to come. You could see the elation he had when he took that

:43:21. > :43:24.bronze. It is Max's turn to take the title and Daniel Keatings filling in

:43:25. > :43:31.with the silver but I am so pleased for all three of them. They have all

:43:32. > :43:35.been working so hard together. When you know what has gone into it and

:43:36. > :43:41.you know how much sacrifice, and you are watching, it is a remarkable

:43:42. > :43:47.feeling. It is all smiles and happiness. You know what these lads

:43:48. > :43:52.have been through. You could see each one of them as they were stood

:43:53. > :43:59.waiting for their name, they were watching with emotion. Max

:44:00. > :44:04.especially has had to keep his head down and he was just staring into

:44:05. > :44:08.that flag thinking, all that hard work and the tears and sweat, the

:44:09. > :44:16.down days and the good days have all been worth it. I think it is fair to

:44:17. > :44:20.say it has turned out how the lads would have hoped. Keatings would not

:44:21. > :44:26.have been going into this thinking, I could get gold. Not at all.

:44:27. > :44:31.Everyone thought it would be Max or Sam. And fortunately, we did lose

:44:32. > :44:36.Sam. But they have got so much support behind them with their

:44:37. > :44:40.families. All three have got such supportive parents. British

:44:41. > :44:42.gymnastics, the medical support, the psychological support, everything

:44:43. > :44:51.which has helped them get here today. Weighed you think, Beth, that

:44:52. > :44:54.British gymnastics can go? As far as the Commonwealth is concerned,

:44:55. > :44:58.absolute domination. Ten years ago we were not rated in the

:44:59. > :45:05.Commonwealth but now we are dominating underworld medal. -- now

:45:06. > :45:11.we are dominating on a world level. We are looking for not just one

:45:12. > :45:16.final but six, seven, eight finals. And then I do not know how many

:45:17. > :45:22.medals. There are so many members on that team who are capable of medals.

:45:23. > :45:26.It is not just one member. When you are training in a gym which has

:45:27. > :45:31.medallist in it and even world finalists in there, there is a

:45:32. > :45:37.different vibe going on. It just raises the bar. They are currently

:45:38. > :45:42.pushing each other. If someone see someone doing a new element they

:45:43. > :45:47.think, how is he doing it, I need to move up again. When you look at Nile

:45:48. > :45:51.and how much he is enjoying this experience, it is not intense for

:45:52. > :45:59.him. That is a joy to see that he is coping with it. Actually, he is

:46:00. > :46:02.relishing it. Look at this! Daniel is so proud and has always been

:46:03. > :46:08.proud to represent Scotland. He has done it from a young age,

:46:09. > :46:12.Commonwealth junior level and European junior level. He is always

:46:13. > :46:17.the first to acknowledge that Scottish link. Stay there longer,

:46:18. > :46:25.that is your time! They will each get their photo taken. The English

:46:26. > :46:36.do not want to feel left out. There are their flags. Very shortly, we

:46:37. > :46:42.will hear from the gymnasts. After they have felt a love! For the

:46:43. > :46:49.spectators who want to see a sports, and watch and be amazed... -- a

:46:50. > :46:55.sport. The amount of messages, this is people's first time at a given

:46:56. > :47:01.Astec event, and they had been such a supportive crowd -- gymnastics

:47:02. > :47:06.event. They knew how much hard work it took to get here so they were

:47:07. > :47:11.appreciative of every performance. And the risk. At the risk of

:47:12. > :47:19.sounding derogatory, it is almost circus like at times. It is, you

:47:20. > :47:26.have to take the risk, do you go for difficulty or go safer and for clean

:47:27. > :47:32.execution? Some old went for the risk yesterday and it did not quite

:47:33. > :47:38.pay off. Max went for the risk with some difficulty and it did pay off.

:47:39. > :47:46.I have never seen a bigger smile and Daniel Keating is face. -- and

:47:47. > :47:59.Daniel Keatings's face. He knew it was his chance to save to selectors,

:48:00. > :48:04.I am still very happy here. We will hear from them shortly but they are

:48:05. > :48:07.enjoying that moment. We will bring you therein to view later. What an

:48:08. > :48:14.all-round competition this afternoon. -- that interview. It has

:48:15. > :48:20.been fantastic and they are milking it, and they showed. They have

:48:21. > :48:24.worked so hard that they deserve to take pictures and let everyone see

:48:25. > :48:29.how pleased they are. And there is so much modern mystics to come from

:48:30. > :48:34.here at the Hydro. For now, we will hand back to you, Hazel. -- so much

:48:35. > :48:39.more gymnastics. It was breathtaking, I enjoyed every

:48:40. > :48:43.second and I will enjoy tonight because the women's all-round will

:48:44. > :48:50.be taking place. Claudia Fragapane, 16, from England, is leading the

:48:51. > :48:56.standings. You could say she is favourite and she will top the

:48:57. > :49:06.order. You can see that later from nine o'clock on BBC One. And if this

:49:07. > :49:10.is inspiring to you, why not? Why not go to the BBC website? So much

:49:11. > :49:17.information is available. Local clubs in your area. Claudia

:49:18. > :49:21.Fragapane is only 16. If you are six and over, it could be you.

:49:22. > :49:27.Yesterday was the end of the shooting event at Carnoustie. I have

:49:28. > :49:36.a quartet of English Gold medal winners this afternoon. Steve Scott.

:49:37. > :49:42.And others. Welcome to Glasgow. You have been at Carnoustie, what do you

:49:43. > :49:46.make of the host city, Charlotte? It is amazing, we have been stuck out

:49:47. > :49:50.in Dundee which has been lovely but it is lovely to get involved with

:49:51. > :49:55.the rest of the team. It is different because in a satellite

:49:56. > :50:02.venue, how was Carnoustie and the Barry but arrange? Some people call

:50:03. > :50:07.buttons! -- Barry Orden range. It was fantastic. The tricky conditions

:50:08. > :50:11.that we had, that delayed some of the competition. We got rained on

:50:12. > :50:18.ones but that was not too bad because we expected more rain --

:50:19. > :50:22.once. I had water proofs but I did not have to win them. Five Gold

:50:23. > :50:30.medals for England, 20 in total for the home nations. Steve, you got was

:50:31. > :50:36.underway on Saturday in the double trap. Absolute perfection. -- you

:50:37. > :50:41.got us. 30 out of 30. Correct, I was pleased with that. I shot 30 out of

:50:42. > :50:47.30 in a qualifying round and I repeated that looked performance in

:50:48. > :50:54.the final. Matthew French shot extremely well as well for 29. A

:50:55. > :50:59.great day. And that is the skill, to produce it on the way -- on the day.

:51:00. > :51:06.Charlotte, and remember you as a 15-year-old in 2002 -- I remember.

:51:07. > :51:07.This is your fourth Gold medal, how do you keep producing these

:51:08. > :51:11.performances? do you keep producing these

:51:12. > :51:15.Commonwealth Games and it just seems to happen. I love competing at the

:51:16. > :51:22.Commonwealth Games, these are my third Games. My first Games were at

:51:23. > :51:27.15. It is great. You were born to do it, your parents have been involved

:51:28. > :51:33.in the sport for a long time and they own a shooting range. They have

:51:34. > :51:36.a range in Sussex and that is why I got into it. It was just a nice

:51:37. > :51:41.sport that the family could do together. You and Steve used

:51:42. > :51:51.shotguns, it you are hitting moving targets. But for the other two, it

:51:52. > :51:57.is about keeping still. You want together in the cause -- in the

:51:58. > :52:09.Queen's prize. How does the team together work? I shoot first and

:52:10. > :52:14.David coaches me. He leads me. I've via the trigger and he tells me when

:52:15. > :52:21.to do it. Wind conditions. -- I fire. He makes the decisions and

:52:22. > :52:28.after I have finished, David has a go and I coach him through it. You

:52:29. > :52:33.need to shoot well also. So you really are a team. You are shooting

:52:34. > :52:41.up to 1,000 yards, so from here to the Hydro, how far is that? About

:52:42. > :52:46.halfway, so it is twice that far. And how much can the shots move in

:52:47. > :52:51.that distance? What sort of range of movement would you have to

:52:52. > :52:57.accommodate? Yesterday was particular difficult. The wind was

:52:58. > :53:03.changing, shifting it from about five foot drift one-way to three

:53:04. > :53:07.foot drift the other way. Extraordinary. And you are given

:53:08. > :53:14.warm up shots to figure this out. Do you get a natural feel for it after

:53:15. > :53:19.a while? It is a natural feel. It is something you need to spend a lot of

:53:20. > :53:25.time on. There wind flags along the range. -- there are wind flags. And

:53:26. > :53:29.you can see the heat through the telescope. And you are looking at

:53:30. > :53:35.other targets from the other shooters. It is an extraordinary

:53:36. > :53:44.sport, it you need a telescope! Steve, have you tried the other

:53:45. > :53:54.rivals -- rifles, and have you tried a shot and? I have tried a rifle,

:53:55. > :53:59.but our target is still. I shoot rifles for fun and I have been to a

:54:00. > :54:04.couple of clubs. And international training camps. We have a bit of

:54:05. > :54:11.banter between shooters and you have a go. I do it for fun. There is a

:54:12. > :54:17.big difference. But both are just as enjoyable. You just naturally find

:54:18. > :54:22.out what you are best at. One of the most intriguing things was yesterday

:54:23. > :54:33.went David won his second Gold. And you were carried on a chair! To the

:54:34. > :54:40.ceremony. What is this about? It is a judicial and Dick -- it is a

:54:41. > :54:46.tradition dating back 150 years. The winner is carried by his

:54:47. > :54:52.competitors. And you experienced this in Delhi? I did, in Delhi. I am

:54:53. > :54:59.pleased David Tuck the title from me because he is one of my closest

:55:00. > :55:04.friends. When we knew you were coming in, my friends and colleagues

:55:05. > :55:11.were desperate to ask questions and I have some here. Charlotte,

:55:12. > :55:16.actually, this is about the shooting jackets you are using. What function

:55:17. > :55:22.do they perform and why do you use them? They keep you still. The

:55:23. > :55:27.jacket has a sling attached, that clips onto the rifle and it allows

:55:28. > :55:35.you to keep it still for long periods. You have to keep it very

:55:36. > :55:40.still. Half an hour, 40 minutes. The jacket helps to support you. And the

:55:41. > :55:51.blinkers. You sometimes cover one eye. They painted sometimes, what is

:55:52. > :55:57.their function? Dashed a painted. -- when -- they are painted. If you

:55:58. > :56:01.close the other eye, your ability is diminished. You have to keep both

:56:02. > :56:08.eyes open and if you have them both open, depending on the dominant eye,

:56:09. > :56:13.you may or may not have trouble. It is such a fascinating contrast with

:56:14. > :56:17.what you do, Charlotte. It is about quick reactions with things coming

:56:18. > :56:21.from different directions. Completely different, you could not

:56:22. > :56:28.get much different, I could not do what these guys do, I could not sit

:56:29. > :56:32.still but long. Another question, a lot of athletes get up in the

:56:33. > :56:38.morning and they have to get the adrenaline going. Complete opposite

:56:39. > :56:45.of that, it you are trying to keep still, how do you manage that? --

:56:46. > :56:51.you are trying. That is a myth, we form at our best when we have a bit

:56:52. > :56:55.of excitement. -- perform. We knew it was going to be difficult

:56:56. > :57:01.yesterday and we would get excited beforehand. It is getting the

:57:02. > :57:07.balance right. If you get too excited, you will not shoot well. A

:57:08. > :57:12.fascinating subject and it has been fascinating to watch you and you are

:57:13. > :57:18.going home with medals again. Thank you.

:57:19. > :57:21.That was wonderful. What is going to be great tonight is to see the

:57:22. > :57:27.conclusion of the heptathlete at Hampden Park. We saw the conclusion

:57:28. > :57:33.of the decathlon last night. The champions are among the most revered

:57:34. > :57:36.in the Games. You look at Dame Mary Peters of Northern Ireland for

:57:37. > :57:41.example, Daley Thompson. And there was a certain man from Canvey

:57:42. > :57:45.Island, Dean Macey, held together with sticking tape towards the end,

:57:46. > :57:50.but this was his magic moment in Melbourne.

:57:51. > :57:57.When I was younger, maths, English, science, I wanted to be anyone else

:57:58. > :58:04.in the class because I was so slow, lazy most of the time. But in PE,

:58:05. > :58:08.everybody else wanted to be me. I was annoying, I hit 60s in cricket

:58:09. > :58:17.for a laugh and I hit javelins miles because it came naturally. I was an

:58:18. > :58:21.annoying sporty kid. But I wanted to do something more individual. I

:58:22. > :58:25.remember when we played a Cup Final and I laid well and we lost,

:58:26. > :58:32.everybody was in the changing room miserable and I thought, I was $1

:58:33. > :58:36.million! I remember going to athletics competitions and my

:58:37. > :58:41.parents threatening me they would keep me in my bedroom if I did not

:58:42. > :58:46.compete. I would win the javelin, the triple jump, the 100m, and I

:58:47. > :58:51.would think, this is the best. A couple of weeks later, I cannot be

:58:52. > :58:56.bothered. I took it seriously when I won a silver medal in 1996, I was

:58:57. > :59:01.second in the world! To go to sit me thinking I would go one step that

:59:02. > :59:08.was a bit naive. Either 1,500 metres, my coach said that I had to

:59:09. > :59:14.run as much as I could. -- by the 1,500 metres. I ran my sick second

:59:15. > :59:21.personal best. Dean Macey, the clock stops now! My

:59:22. > :59:28.feelings straightaway was, that has to be enough. Does Dean Macey get a

:59:29. > :59:34.medal? He has not got a medal. He has lost it.

:59:35. > :59:38.By those five seconds. To be so close to miss out was

:59:39. > :59:42.heart-wrenching. I have not competed for nearly seven

:59:43. > :59:45.years. I still feel like I have got the magic.

:59:46. > :59:50.The reason my physique has a bit of a minus to it, if you look at it

:59:51. > :59:57.like a plank of wood, short and chunky, you cannot rake it. Long and

:59:58. > :00:03.thin like me, it will snap a lot. And over my career, my body broke

:00:04. > :00:10.quite a bit. I had my elbow rebuilt three times because of Joplin --

:00:11. > :00:15.javelin, I have a plate and screws in my foot, I had a bone removed

:00:16. > :00:18.from my foot, but I did it for the right reason. The Commonwealth Games

:00:19. > :00:23.in Manchester was massive. Three weeks beforehand when I run 400

:00:24. > :00:27.metres to tell my hamstring to the point where there was no coming

:00:28. > :00:30.back, it was the lowest point in my career. I was planning to get

:00:31. > :00:37.married that year, that went out the window. Everything, I could not deal

:00:38. > :00:41.with it. And four years later for the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne,

:00:42. > :00:43.I added an extra couple of months onto my preparation to make sure I

:00:44. > :00:58.was healthy. place, doing all my technical work

:00:59. > :01:04.and here, three strides from the pole vault on my last job before

:01:05. > :01:09.Melbourne, my hamstring went bang. Different event that exactly the

:01:10. > :01:13.same what happened four years before in Manchester. I remember lying

:01:14. > :01:17.unceremoniously, like this, on the bed, with everybody just running

:01:18. > :01:20.around, not knowing what to do. Winning went at the window at this

:01:21. > :01:26.point. Just getting me on the start line was the main thing.

:01:27. > :01:30.COMMENTATOR: How is he feeling? How will the respond? We are cheering

:01:31. > :01:38.for Dean Macey as well. Coming around the last bend, for the first

:01:39. > :01:46.time in my life I had cramp in my biceps running 1500m. At last he has

:01:47. > :01:52.delivered! From there on in it was just fighting back tears. I just

:01:53. > :02:00.thought, you lucky boy. And Dean Macey at last is a champion! He will

:02:01. > :02:05.treasure this moment for a long time to come. He probably won't stop

:02:06. > :02:10.talking for the next 24 hours. There we go. I look like I need a big

:02:11. > :02:15.bunch of flowers in this hand as well. The first thing I thought when

:02:16. > :02:20.they put it brand there was it was a bit cold on the back of my neck. I

:02:21. > :02:23.thought, blimey, that is quality. I stood on that rostrum and I thought

:02:24. > :02:29.about every single person throughout my entire career that have played

:02:30. > :02:37.the smallest part right to the biggest part. It was almost perfect,

:02:38. > :02:46.it really was. I don't think I done bad from a lanky, bald guy from

:02:47. > :02:50.Essex. It's not bad. Not bad at all. In the heptathlon, five of the seven

:02:51. > :02:56.events have been completed. Just the travelling and 800m to go. A

:02:57. > :03:01.Canadian if they run away favourite for gold. It is a fantastic line-up

:03:02. > :03:05.this evening and part. The likes of Greg Rutherford in the long jump

:03:06. > :03:14.final, Ronnie James. Valerie Adams of New Zealand in the shop. And

:03:15. > :03:19.Eilish McColgan in the 3000m steeplechase. Her race is about

:03:20. > :03:23.7:35pm. We are heading over to the SECC now because the boxing events

:03:24. > :03:28.are really getting to the sharp end. Before today, ten of the boxes from

:03:29. > :03:33.the Home Nations were guaranteed medals, three from Scotland and

:03:34. > :03:35.Northern Ireland, two each from Wales and England. More could follow

:03:36. > :03:39.in the quarter finals of the remaining weight divisions today. It

:03:40. > :03:44.is women's flyweight first for us and it is Nicola Adams, the hot

:03:45. > :03:49.favourite to add to the Olympic title she won two years ago. She is

:03:50. > :04:07.facing the Nigerian today. Nicola Adams switches on to the

:04:08. > :04:17.business of the 51 kilos final. There is the opening bell to

:04:18. > :04:22.schedule the first round. Nicola Adams, wearing red, boxing in the

:04:23. > :04:27.orthodox stance. Her opponent, in blue, is the silver of Sri Lanka. 28

:04:28. > :04:46.years old. Three-time runner-up at National

:04:47. > :04:50.Championships, Da Silva. She's certainly giving it a go, taking it

:04:51. > :04:54.to Adams. But just at the moment Adams is that little bit sharper.

:04:55. > :05:03.Catching her bed with a lovely power jab. Skipping left and right, not

:05:04. > :05:11.letting Da Silva settle. -- catching her there with a lovely power jab.

:05:12. > :05:17.Adams is forcing Da Silva back to her own corner and catching her with

:05:18. > :05:32.snaking shots. Adams can smell blood. If she thinks

:05:33. > :05:46.she's caught you, she will go batty. -- she will go at you.

:05:47. > :06:03.Left hook from Da Silva Cop three. -- got through. What a left hand

:06:04. > :06:08.from Nicola Adams! Da Silva sent to the canvas.

:06:09. > :06:16.Just before the bell. There are those piston shot there. He can

:06:17. > :06:20.punch, this girl. My goodness, she is so strong. Just as Da Silva has

:06:21. > :06:28.found herself a little trip to the canvas, and the bell there signs the

:06:29. > :06:34.end of that first round. There was the left hand. It was the final shot

:06:35. > :06:45.of the three punch combination. Final left-hand right on the button.

:06:46. > :06:48.Da Silva losing her balance. She was deposited on the canvas just before

:06:49. > :06:58.the Dell sounded to conclude number one. Two judges their scoring 810-8

:06:59. > :07:13.in favour of judge delivered Nicola Adams, the third judge saying 10-9.

:07:14. > :07:22.We move into the second round. Terrific atmosphere. Nicola Adams

:07:23. > :07:24.took the opening round in decisive fashion, ending it by dropping the

:07:25. > :07:45.Silva from Sri Lanka. -- Da Silva. Such written by Nicola Adams. Still

:07:46. > :07:52.predominantly by one of her first coaches, Belcher, whose main focus

:07:53. > :07:58.is put work, and she has benefited from that throughout her boxing

:07:59. > :08:08.career. She allows Da Silva to this she punishes her on the second phase

:08:09. > :08:23.of her character shop. -- countered shot. De Silva did have her moments

:08:24. > :08:33.of success during the previous exchange. Beautiful rear hand as

:08:34. > :08:37.well. Such strong shots. Left jab is a really jolting weapon from Nicola

:08:38. > :08:41.Adams. Sometimes it is from the beltline, sometimes from the

:08:42. > :08:52.shoulder. So much for writing the most basic of punches and Nicola

:08:53. > :08:56.Adams uses it terrifically well. Lohan is from Nicola. Really

:08:57. > :09:03.relaxing into this. That 1-to their knocking the head back of de Silva.

:09:04. > :09:08.It could hurt tremendously. Corkscrew right and then a left over

:09:09. > :09:16.the top as well. Real quality boxing being exhibited by the reigning

:09:17. > :09:24.Olympic champion. The manner of which she is boxing, you can see why

:09:25. > :09:27.she is number one. So all will become in the red corner because

:09:28. > :09:32.it's been another good display during the course of the second

:09:33. > :09:36.round. There is that corkscrew punch over the top and the big left hook

:09:37. > :09:41.towards the end of round number two. Just snapping back the head of Da

:09:42. > :09:44.Silva, and she comes back with a body shot. That is why Adams is a

:09:45. > :09:53.true limbic champion. -- a true Olympic champion. All

:09:54. > :10:04.three judges in favour of Nicola Adams. No trip to the canvas for de

:10:05. > :10:10.Silva in the second round, but the judges still in favour of Adams.

:10:11. > :10:15.Moving to the second half of this 51 K flyweight quarterfinal. The place

:10:16. > :10:19.on the medal podium is the prize that await the picture.

:10:20. > :10:23.on the medal podium is the prize rounds, Adams is in complete

:10:24. > :10:28.control. She flawed de Silva in Round 1. Now turning southpaw. It

:10:29. > :10:32.was a left -right, although the left hand was a backhand on that

:10:33. > :10:33.occasion, as it was during that final forward the red by the Olympic

:10:34. > :10:43.champion. So versatile, Nicola Adams, she

:10:44. > :10:54.boxes in southpaw and orthodox stance.

:10:55. > :11:06.De Silva cleaned to -- keen to initiate a clinch because that shot

:11:07. > :11:14.not have backwards. Adams has picked up and she's effectively. Nice

:11:15. > :11:19.tactics by de Silva, holding on, seeing if there is anything she

:11:20. > :11:20.could do on the ropes there. Just trying for breathing space from the

:11:21. > :11:31.onslaught from Adams. The referee finally issues a call

:11:32. > :11:35.stop but de Silva holding on. She is perhaps feeling the pace a bit heap

:11:36. > :11:45.into this third round. She is taking a lot of shots.

:11:46. > :11:51.Fair play to de Silva. She is still throwing back. She is still

:11:52. > :11:55.attempting to throw those shots towards Nicola, but she just didn't

:11:56. > :12:13.make it pay that time. Rabbit punch administered from

:12:14. > :12:18.Erandi de Silva, but again a wonderful performance in Round 3

:12:19. > :12:27.from Nicola Adams. She goes back to the red corner to receive

:12:28. > :12:37.instructions. Just misses her there, those shots, Adams. Cann stumbling

:12:38. > :12:46.back. Decisive shots from Adams. -- de Silva stumbling back.

:12:47. > :12:58.Again, two judges scoring at 10-8. Not sure what that Sri Lankan corner

:12:59. > :13:01.can say to turn the tide. Sitting in the red corner is the world number

:13:02. > :13:08.one, the reigning Olympic champion, Nicola Adams. She has found her

:13:09. > :13:14.prison instantly in this, the second part of her Commonwealth Games

:13:15. > :13:17.tournament. Expect de Silva to come out charging hard in this fourth and

:13:18. > :13:23.final round. She has conceded each of the opening three rounds. Adam

:13:24. > :13:28.Strauss have backwards immediately. Punching power can be a great talent

:13:29. > :13:31.to any boxing tent and coming forward. Adams has exhibited

:13:32. > :13:36.accurate, precise, powerful punching. Almost immediately, de

:13:37. > :13:46.Silva onto the back foot. Good left-hand but again from Adams,

:13:47. > :14:02.shooting from the beltline on that occasion.

:14:03. > :14:11.De Silva getting tired, swinging fresh air.

:14:12. > :14:18.Nicola finishing the combination and giving herself plenty of space back

:14:19. > :14:23.into the centre of the ring. The opening bout macro of the tournament

:14:24. > :14:32.but de Silva, as the boxes exchange jabs. Adams got through with a cork

:14:33. > :14:35.in right hand and then a left to follow up. De Silva swivelled

:14:36. > :14:49.sideways. She is under increased and sustained

:14:50. > :14:55.pressure from Adams. She now gets back to distance and switches to the

:14:56. > :15:01.orthodox stance. Sensible. Adams could have kept the pressure on, but

:15:02. > :15:07.she knows she has done enough. Incredible jab. Rising jab from the

:15:08. > :15:16.hip. There was the shuffle from Adams. Again, Nicola Adams just

:15:17. > :15:20.drinking up the applause and encouragement from the crowd.

:15:21. > :15:28.Congratulations from the Sri Lankan corner. And Nicola Adams has surely

:15:29. > :15:31.just secured her place in the middle stages of the Commonwealth Games. A

:15:32. > :15:33.wonderful display during the course of this last eight bouts in the

:15:34. > :15:46.flyweight division. right up until the final bell that

:15:47. > :16:03.the variety from Adams demonstrated shots from every angle.

:16:04. > :16:07.there from Nicola Adams. Incredible resourcefulness. Switching her

:16:08. > :16:22.stances. Another excellent performance from Nicola Adams of

:16:23. > :16:37.England. Now through to the semifinal, England's Nicola Adams!

:16:38. > :16:43.Nicola Adams receives a standing ovation from the crowd here at the

:16:44. > :16:49.SECC. She has guaranteed herself a Commonwealth Games medal. What

:16:50. > :16:54.colour will it be? Will it be the English National Anthem playing on a

:16:55. > :16:59.medal day? She has booked a place in the final four. She will get a medal

:17:00. > :17:04.of some description. She will be aiming for nothing less than a gold

:17:05. > :17:09.medal in her division. That is the moment it was confirmed will stop a

:17:10. > :17:20.bowl to all sides of the arena. And now familiar celebration, with a

:17:21. > :17:29.punch perfect display against Erandi de Silva. The best people in all

:17:30. > :17:35.sports make it look so easy. I love the sport, I have a passion for it.

:17:36. > :17:42.I love the movement, I love the technique, speed, the skill, is

:17:43. > :17:48.beautiful. What she knew, it was like I was watching Usain Bolt, it

:17:49. > :17:55.was about entertainment as well. It is important, I love to entertain

:17:56. > :18:02.the crowd. If they are happy, I am happy and I have the medal already.

:18:03. > :18:06.Creating history all the time. It almost feels, it is the first time

:18:07. > :18:11.women have been boxing in the Commonwealth Games, but it feels

:18:12. > :18:17.like that is almost history already. Do you feel is established now?

:18:18. > :18:20.Definitely. I feel like women's boxing has moved on since 2012 and

:18:21. > :18:30.this is just the beginning. Congratulations. Thank you.

:18:31. > :18:44.Nicola Adams will fight the Canadian. Laura Weightman, won a

:18:45. > :18:50.silver medal last night. Congratulations. Is it sinking in?

:18:51. > :18:56.Slowly it is beginning to sink in. I do not think it will fully set in

:18:57. > :19:01.until I am on the podium tonight. During the race, it is all a blur

:19:02. > :19:06.and a whirlwind of emotions. The night after, you do not sleep. You

:19:07. > :19:16.do not know what you have achieved. How many times do you reckon you

:19:17. > :19:34.have rerun the win? I got the chance to watch the race back. She is right

:19:35. > :19:41.on your shoulder. I could send someone was coming up. I felt

:19:42. > :19:51.someone there. I wanted to get that medal. The noise was phenomenal.

:19:52. > :19:57.People were cheering for you and Laura Muir. It was like a Mexican

:19:58. > :20:07.wave of noise. The noise was incredible. I took it as mine and

:20:08. > :20:16.embraced it all and really enjoyed that. We first saw you at London

:20:17. > :20:20.2012 and it was an interesting moment when Steve Cram was assessing

:20:21. > :20:34.your progress. He is sure coach and there was a lot of talk about how he

:20:35. > :20:39.became your code. I was developing as an athlete and I was improving

:20:40. > :20:44.all the time and I was not happy with the setup I had. Steve was a

:20:45. > :20:51.local legend. I approached him and asked him for advice. I am lucky

:20:52. > :21:02.that since then, we have improved and I would not be sat here without

:21:03. > :21:13.him. No doubt about it. What is he like as a coach? Who

:21:14. > :21:25.him. No doubt about it. What is he together. -- we work well together.

:21:26. > :21:31.It is a great partnership. I am very lucky to have someone so experienced

:21:32. > :21:37.by team. You are a bit young to remember Steve in his heyday, but I

:21:38. > :21:43.wonder who best influencing new when you were growing up, I am thinking

:21:44. > :21:51.about Dame Kelly Holmes. Was she on your radar? One of my very first

:21:52. > :21:57.sporting memories was when Paula Radcliffe ran her world record. She

:21:58. > :22:02.is a hero of mine. Then Kelly Holmes winning the double gold. Those

:22:03. > :22:08.performances were incredible and it was great to see two of my heroes.

:22:09. > :22:18.It really inspires me when I am performing. I want to be like that.

:22:19. > :22:26.Distance running for women is brilliant. How much better is it

:22:27. > :22:32.becoming? It is hugely strong. The four of us in the final, we are

:22:33. > :22:37.running world-class times. British athletes have not run that quickly

:22:38. > :22:42.for a few years. It is good. You're getting up, training, you are wary

:22:43. > :22:51.about what the British athletes are doing, that gets you out of bed --

:22:52. > :22:58.worrying. Your phone must've been ringing off the hook. It has been

:22:59. > :23:04.crazy. I have been overwhelmed by the support. It has been crazy.

:23:05. > :23:08.Doing my lap of honour, to see so many friends and family that I did

:23:09. > :23:15.not know would be there, people from where I live, schoolteachers,

:23:16. > :23:24.reporters, it was incredible to see everyone. That is wonderful. Enjoy

:23:25. > :23:39.your moment on the podium. I get my medal at 7:45pm. We are going back

:23:40. > :23:56.to the boxing. It is four and this is her opening bowl in the

:23:57. > :24:04.competition -- -- Alanna Audley-Murphy. She is up against as

:24:05. > :24:39.Dominican boxer. She is 33 years of age and she is from London. Alanna

:24:40. > :24:52.Audley-Murphy is operating out of the orthodox stance. Her opponent is

:24:53. > :25:04.Valerian Spicer. She is catching her with a couple of

:25:05. > :25:17.hoax. Landing there with a power jab. -- hoax. Both boxers in the

:25:18. > :25:23.centre of the ring. Ashman hooks. Valerian Spicer comes back with her

:25:24. > :25:31.own left hook, nicely landing -- hooks. Beyond the midpoint of this

:25:32. > :25:42.opening round, both boxers looking for overhand rights. The final shot

:25:43. > :25:51.of that exchange from Valerian Spicer, a strong right cross will

:25:52. > :26:11.stop nudging left uppercut. Up was from Alanna Audley-Murphy. -- a

:26:12. > :26:16.strong right cross. Left hand from the right left combination got

:26:17. > :26:20.through for the boxer in blue. Uppercut success on the inside from

:26:21. > :26:29.Alanna Audley-Murphy. There is the Bell to end round number one. Not a

:26:30. > :26:32.lot to choose between the two. I think Valerian Spicer landed more

:26:33. > :26:45.eye-catching shots. It will be interesting to see how that round is

:26:46. > :26:53.scored. Alanna Audley-Murphy landing with her left but getting a straight

:26:54. > :26:56.counter back from Valerian Spicer. The three judges have decided that

:26:57. > :27:04.Valerian Spicer was dominant in that round. Valerian Spicer takes the

:27:05. > :27:10.opening round in unanimous fashion. Receiving instructions from Stewart

:27:11. > :27:20.or corner -- steward O'Connor in the blue corner. What is he likely to be

:27:21. > :27:26.saying -- Stewart? She needs to be dominant and start and end the

:27:27. > :27:31.exchange. A little bit more of the same, good start by Valerian Spicer.

:27:32. > :27:37.Moving into the second round. Alanna Audley-Murphy in red, 29 years of

:27:38. > :27:43.age, the reigning Northern Ireland champion. She is taking on Valerian

:27:44. > :27:58.Spicer, of dominator from the Islington boxing club in North

:27:59. > :28:02.London. -- Dominica. Valerian Spicer took the opening round in unanimous

:28:03. > :28:09.fashion. The referee allowing the boxers to work away. Alanna

:28:10. > :28:14.Audley-Murphy attempted to do so. Valerian Spicer just got caught

:28:15. > :28:18.there. Both boxers need to work on the clench. They are waiting for the

:28:19. > :28:28.referee to break them which is old-style. -- clinch. You have to

:28:29. > :28:36.make the most of being in range. Throw in your body shots. Beyond the

:28:37. > :28:38.midpoint of the second round, what a right hand from Alanna

:28:39. > :28:45.Audley-Murphy. Valerian Spicer initiates a clinch. Right-hand

:28:46. > :28:53.attempted by Alanna Audley-Murphy again. A couple of body shots. Wide

:28:54. > :28:55.off the mark with that right left combination was Alanna

:28:56. > :29:03.Audley-Murphy. We are into the final 30 seconds. She slips to the left.

:29:04. > :29:10.Alanna Audley-Murphy should not rely on that. There were a couple of

:29:11. > :29:18.swinging shots. Lovely left hook just missing their from Valerian

:29:19. > :29:22.Spicer. Ten seconds. A good right hand from Valerian Spicer, it

:29:23. > :29:31.appeared to get through. Round 2 ends. Valerian Spicer -- Alanna

:29:32. > :29:37.Audley-Murphy got some good shots. Yes, she was better there. She slips

:29:38. > :29:46.to the left there, forcing Valerian Spicer to hold on. We have a split

:29:47. > :29:50.in the decision of the judges. Two judges going for Alanna

:29:51. > :29:58.Audley-Murphy, one deciding that Valerian Spicer had it. It is tied

:29:59. > :30:04.for two of the judges. Valerian Spicer is up by two rounds. A strong

:30:05. > :30:24.response from Alanna Audley-Murphy. We are at the midpoint of this

:30:25. > :30:57.quarterfinal. So we move into the second half of this contest.

:30:58. > :31:09.Beautiful straight right hand from Spicer. This is a battle of the rear

:31:10. > :31:14.hands by both boxes. Both slipping to the rest, throwing the left-hand

:31:15. > :31:23.punch over the top. Audley-Murphy had the best feet in second round.

:31:24. > :31:32.Spicer started with the same shot in this round. -- she had the best of

:31:33. > :31:41.it in the second round. A little bit messy now. Lots of grappling,

:31:42. > :31:47.scrapping on the inside. Good left-hand from Audley-Murphy. " As

:31:48. > :31:52.once more but neither boxer able to walk away effectively. They both

:31:53. > :31:59.need to get that behind the jab. Little being made of the job there,

:32:00. > :32:08.apart from their from Spicer. -- the jab. It keeps your opponent at

:32:09. > :32:14.distance, at arms length, and allows you to come back. A cheeky little

:32:15. > :32:23.uppercut from Spicer and a response from Audley-Murphy with the right

:32:24. > :32:29.hand. The left jab from Audley-Murphy to end the round.

:32:30. > :32:32.Hugely competitive one. That flurry from Audley-Murphy. Will it be

:32:33. > :32:46.enough to tip the judges in her favour in this round?

:32:47. > :32:59.High intensity. Indicative of the intensive quality of the round.

:33:00. > :33:09.Important for the judges to see this kind of shots. Not able to bring you

:33:10. > :33:14.the score at this moment, but that was a hugely competitive round,

:33:15. > :33:15.given that the second was split, how will the judges have scored that

:33:16. > :33:25.third round? The fourth and final round. Women's

:33:26. > :33:38.50 kilograms lightweight action. -- 60 kilograms. A podium finish is at

:33:39. > :33:50.stake for the picture. -- for the winner.

:33:51. > :34:01.Good use of the legs from Spicer, causing Audley-Murphy to fall short.

:34:02. > :34:06.Neither boxer working away, but electing to hold and grapple,

:34:07. > :34:10.testing the strength of one another. Spicer has the strange over

:34:11. > :34:15.Audley-Murphy. She has lovely straight shots. She just needs to

:34:16. > :34:20.use it. Making it much easier for the judges to decide between the

:34:21. > :34:26.two. If they are stored here in a clinch, it is much easier for the

:34:27. > :34:31.judges to decide. Nobody working away when they are on shoulder to

:34:32. > :34:35.shoulder. The referee not issuing the instruction to break. This new

:34:36. > :34:40.interpretation of the rules under this new style of Olympic boxing

:34:41. > :34:42.where the head cards have been removed for the men and a ten point

:34:43. > :34:58.system is in effect. Who can produce a big finish to

:34:59. > :35:01.influence the judges? This work on the inside is a completely different

:35:02. > :35:06.skill that perhaps traditional women's boxing is not used to

:35:07. > :35:09.dealing. You have to work on the inside, make the most of those

:35:10. > :35:20.clinches. Really secure it with the judges.

:35:21. > :35:26.Scrappy conclusion to the fourth and final round. Given that we could not

:35:27. > :35:31.bring you the score officially of that third round, well, a hugely

:35:32. > :35:38.competitive contest as you would expect. Nothing less than a place on

:35:39. > :35:45.a medal podium is at stake. Will it go in the direction of Audley-Murphy

:35:46. > :35:46.or Spicer? Spicer took the opening round in unanimous fashion,

:35:47. > :35:51.Audley-Murphy responded brilliantly to take the second round for two the

:35:52. > :35:56.three judges. Here is a nice uppercut right on the inside from

:35:57. > :36:04.Spicer. Then an exchange of hooks. Absolutely a tight out, there.

:36:05. > :36:13.Stuart O'Connor in the corner and the Dominican coach, almost fighting

:36:14. > :36:19.with the girls in the corner. We have just seen the final, fourth of

:36:20. > :36:35.two -minute rounds. The score is only just been

:36:36. > :36:39.delivered to the arena so this could take some tabulating and working

:36:40. > :36:44.out. Will it be a split decision? Will it be unanimous?

:36:45. > :37:30.northern Irish flag that is waving proudly up in the stand. It is

:37:31. > :37:34.Alanna Audley-Murphy from this site club who has gone through. Just look

:37:35. > :37:39.at what it means for automatic. She will take her place on the medal

:37:40. > :37:44.stand here in Glasgow 2014. Valerian Spicer has been eliminated. She

:37:45. > :37:49.competed keenly but that is the verdict she did not want to hear, a

:37:50. > :37:53.loser by split decision at the quarterfinal stage, but she has most

:37:54. > :37:57.certainly made a mark with her impressive boxing and committed

:37:58. > :37:58.performances, to kill elite victory over the Olympian in her preliminary

:37:59. > :38:14.round about. -- concluding in her victory over

:38:15. > :38:27.the Olympian in the preliminary round bout.

:38:28. > :38:31.Watts from Australia. One more fight in this decision and it is Charlene

:38:32. > :38:35.Jones of Wales, the reigning world champion. She is the first Welsh

:38:36. > :38:39.woman ever to step into the ring in a major multisport event like this.

:38:40. > :38:46.She beat her Sri Lanka opponent yesterday and is up against an

:38:47. > :38:52.Indian fight on. -- Indian fighter now.

:38:53. > :39:04.COMMENTATOR: The 60 K lightweight final is against two boxers at

:39:05. > :39:12.opposite ends of the experience spectrum. The Indian is 32 years of

:39:13. > :39:17.age, the world champion back in 2006. She took a World Championship

:39:18. > :39:21.gold medal. Her opponent is 23 years of age, Charlene Jones from Wales.

:39:22. > :39:25.Both these boxers taking in their second bad here at the Commonwealth

:39:26. > :39:32.Games tournament and both were impressive indeed during the course

:39:33. > :39:36.of their opening contests. Jonas just attempting to edge the Indian

:39:37. > :39:43.back towards the ropes at she comes back with her own combinations.

:39:44. > :39:56.Marching forward with a shot. And she comes back there with a

:39:57. > :40:06.left-hand rear hook. Scheduled for four twos, in women's boxing.

:40:07. > :40:17.Right-hand success from Jonas to end that encounter. Both boxers flat

:40:18. > :40:24.footed. Plenty of The Scream and sparring with the jab. -- plenty of

:40:25. > :40:55.fainting and sparring with the jab. There is the bell to end round

:40:56. > :41:01.number one. Both boxers possessed brilliant speech.

:41:02. > :41:18.-- brilliant speed. Both boxers excelling during this quarterfinal.

:41:19. > :41:30.A tentative round at times. All judges have favoured Jones after

:41:31. > :41:31.that first round. Colleen Jones issuing the instructions to Charlene

:41:32. > :41:52.Jones in her corner. -- Colin. So we go into the second round.

:41:53. > :41:57.Charlene Jones is wearing blue, representing Wales. Took the opening

:41:58. > :42:02.round in unanimous fashion. Devi of India, the world champion gold

:42:03. > :42:06.medallist from back in 2006, she has got a couple of bronzes from that

:42:07. > :42:21.tournament as well so she is experienced and accomplished. Jones

:42:22. > :42:28.is trying to fight off the ropes. She took a couple of shots flush to

:42:29. > :42:29.the head from Devi. But she came back with her own shots from the

:42:30. > :42:42.ropes. Devi more often than not on the

:42:43. > :42:55.front foot. Jones uses her legs are effectively

:42:56. > :43:04.to get away from the punching of Devi. Good double jab. The second

:43:05. > :43:11.one got through from Jones. When Devi launches those attacks, Jones

:43:12. > :43:35.needs to step off to the side rather than go backwards. Then she can

:43:36. > :43:37.throw her own counters. Right-hand counter as Jones came in from Devi

:43:38. > :43:53.was really effective. There is the bell to end round

:43:54. > :43:56.number two. Boxes touching gloves in respect. Another competitive round

:43:57. > :44:02.that Devi, having conceded the opening round, came out strong in

:44:03. > :44:06.that second. She did exactly what she needed to do that, increased the

:44:07. > :44:12.tempo, the pace, the volume of shots. She caught Charlene Jones

:44:13. > :44:22.with a number of eye-catching shots. Four, five shot combination.

:44:23. > :44:26.Charlene Jones trying to fight back but as we suspect, all three judges

:44:27. > :44:33.have favoured Devi after the second round. So at the halfway stage, we

:44:34. > :44:37.have parity. Devi taking the second round in unanimous fashion. So

:44:38. > :44:38.everything to compete for in the second half of this lightweight

:44:39. > :44:52.quarterfinal. So be moved into the second half of

:44:53. > :44:57.the contest. Charlene Jones conceded the second round and has come out

:44:58. > :45:03.blazing at being met head on by an opponent equally determined. Furious

:45:04. > :45:10.exchange. Both boxers enjoying success and the last fusillade of

:45:11. > :45:16.punches was fired out why Devi. What an opening to this third round. Both

:45:17. > :45:20.squaring up to each other. Devi just getting the better of that very long

:45:21. > :45:27.exchange at the beginning of the third round. Hard single right-hand

:45:28. > :45:38.got through from James. A couple of shots got through from the flashing

:45:39. > :45:39.fists of Devi as well. Charlene Jones just succumbing to the speed

:45:40. > :45:58.of Devi as well. Left-hand success but then counter

:45:59. > :46:05.right-hand success from Jones. It is all exchanges and they are operating

:46:06. > :46:15.in centre rain. Not using the space or perimeter of the ring at all --

:46:16. > :46:22.ring. Told to toe exchanges. Jones needs to change this -- tow. She

:46:23. > :46:25.needs to allow Devi to throw instead of exchanging, because she is not

:46:26. > :46:38.getting the better of these exchanges. The contest being fought

:46:39. > :46:50.at a terrific tempo. There is ten seconds. A firefight occurring. Good

:46:51. > :46:57.movement from Jones to allow those shots from Devi to fail over her

:46:58. > :47:03.head. Good competitive boxing. Lots of action. I suspect the judges will

:47:04. > :47:10.have favoured Devi. Charlene Jones can make it easier for herself if

:47:11. > :47:24.they could stand and throw sharks, head hunting, very little going for

:47:25. > :47:29.the body. -- throwing shots. Two judges favouring Devi, one judge

:47:30. > :47:52.favouring Jones. Everything to compete for. It is in the balance.

:47:53. > :47:58.Into the fourth and final round. The boxer wearing red is from India and

:47:59. > :48:06.is Laishram Devi. The boxer in blue is Charlene Jones from Wales. This

:48:07. > :48:15.round has begun at a furious pace. Both of these boxes will be in

:48:16. > :48:21.incredible condition. Devi gets a beautiful right -- boxers. Good

:48:22. > :48:26.left-hand success from Jones, but a left-hand counter image on leave

:48:27. > :48:37.from Devi. They are continuing to engage in exchanges. Jones needs to

:48:38. > :48:43.box intelligently. What an amazing shot by the Indian. She needs to

:48:44. > :48:48.find the angle. She needs to change her tactics and forced Devi to miss

:48:49. > :48:55.and capitalise on the counter. -- force. She is trying to repel the

:48:56. > :49:02.shots. We are inside the final minute of the final round. Both

:49:03. > :49:11.boxers looking to get themselves on the medal podium. There is a cheeky

:49:12. > :49:18.right hook from Jones. Devi falls short with her response. Devi is

:49:19. > :49:26.using the ring better. Jones needs to forced Devi to fall in and come

:49:27. > :49:32.back with her counters. Devi fighting with her back close to the

:49:33. > :49:39.ringside. Boxers not really working away. Who can produce a big finish

:49:40. > :49:44.that will resonate with the judges ayes and other exchange, left

:49:45. > :49:51.uppercut from Jones. Devi not letting her hands carry on. Both

:49:52. > :49:56.boxers raise their right fists because each one thinks they have

:49:57. > :50:02.done enough to book a place in the final four. What an incredibly

:50:03. > :50:13.competitive affair are full of skill and intensity. Now, we await the

:50:14. > :50:23.scorers. Certainly no shortage of aggression -- scores. Furious

:50:24. > :50:30.exchanges, punches being thrown and landed by both boxers. Clenching and

:50:31. > :50:39.holding on. Waiting for the referee to break. We have a split decision

:50:40. > :50:49.in favour of the winner now through to the semifinal, in the red

:50:50. > :50:59.corner, at least the Smith! -- Laishram Devi. Laishram Devi is

:51:00. > :51:06.through to the final four at Glasgow 2014. Charlene Jones from Wales

:51:07. > :51:11.receives rapturous round of applause and a wonderful ovation as she exits

:51:12. > :51:21.the rain and the tournament. She played her part in a brilliant

:51:22. > :51:25.encounter -- ring. Laishram Devi prevailing on a split decision in a

:51:26. > :51:30.wonderfully competitive display over is Charlene Jones from Wales in what

:51:31. > :51:38.was a bout of the highest quality at the quarterfinal stage here in

:51:39. > :51:43.Glasgow. Charlene Jones is out. Three fighters from the home nations

:51:44. > :51:50.through to the final stages. The middleweights come this evening. We

:51:51. > :51:56.all love a good bus stop, Scotland and England matches tend to produce

:51:57. > :52:02.those and was a tasty affair this morning N the hockey. Both sides on

:52:03. > :52:03.six points in their last home game, Scotland needed the victory and

:52:04. > :52:33.England needed the draw. What a goal for Alex Danson.

:52:34. > :52:44.Fantastic ball from white. Danson signals from -- for a -- White. Gets

:52:45. > :52:51.the ball off the ground. It makes it easier for her to get underneath the

:52:52. > :52:56.ball and flicked it over Gibson. Still bouncing around for Scotland

:52:57. > :53:04.and it is end. England get their second goal. Townsend score is it.

:53:05. > :53:14.England are in the lead by two goals to zero. -- scores it. Great first

:53:15. > :53:23.running initially. Scotland will feel unlucky they could not clear

:53:24. > :53:43.the ball. Townsend finishes off superbly. Here is the shot, a goal

:53:44. > :53:54.for Scotland. Kidd scores. Fantastic penalty corner by Scotland. Nicky

:53:55. > :54:12.Caird has spent so much time working on this. -- Kidd. England have

:54:13. > :54:18.defeated Scotland. Scotland gave it everything. They had a magnificent

:54:19. > :54:25.second half, but were unable to get the two goals required. A fantastic

:54:26. > :54:31.match here, the final results Scotland, one, England, two. England

:54:32. > :54:42.will now face New Zealand who beat Canada 6-2. We have been enjoying

:54:43. > :54:50.some brilliant gymnastics, two and a half hours of sheer pleasure. That

:54:51. > :54:54.is Max Whitlock who took the gold medal in the individual all-around

:54:55. > :54:59.today with the world-class score. Daniel Keating 's of Scotland, the

:55:00. > :55:23.first medal ever for Scotland in an individual --. Nile Wilson also won

:55:24. > :55:27.a medal. That was an amazing feeling -- Daniel Keatings.

:55:28. > :55:33.a medal. That was an amazing feeling -- Daniel They are such good friends

:55:34. > :55:37.of mine. You lead from the front from the start, that puts you under

:55:38. > :55:40.pressure, but it didn't look like you were feeling it. It is a

:55:41. > :55:46.different kind of pressure. I try not to look at the scorers, focus on

:55:47. > :55:55.what I have been doing in training. -- scores. The focus was definitely

:55:56. > :55:59.there, you looked so consistent. Some world-class performances. Do

:56:00. > :56:04.you feel you are at your best with the World Championships around the

:56:05. > :56:11.corner? I feel really good. I hope I can keep improving. I learned a few

:56:12. > :56:23.new skills today. Hopefully I can keep them up. I want to keep

:56:24. > :56:27.training and trying new skills. Daniel Keatings, Nile Wilson chased

:56:28. > :56:36.you all the way, but you produced the performance on the high bar. He

:56:37. > :56:43.was closing the gap and I knew I had to go for the high bar. I am glad I

:56:44. > :56:53.did. The look on your face when you landed that this man said it all. It

:56:54. > :56:56.was amazing. Dismount. It was amazing to be out there and go

:56:57. > :57:03.through a competition and I was really happy. Two silver medals in

:57:04. > :57:10.two days. It is shaping up well, I did not expect this. I came here

:57:26. > :57:31.competition, more to come, are you feeling it? I woke up this morning

:57:32. > :57:37.and I was aching. There are two more days to go and I hope I can get more

:57:38. > :57:43.medals. You were not showing fatigue. Good luck. Nile Wilson,

:57:44. > :57:49.Junior European gold already, a gold medal yesterday, a bronze medal

:57:50. > :57:56.today, what a year. It is a bit of a dream, I was not expecting it. I

:57:57. > :57:59.came in today, just wanted to do my job. I cannot believe I have won a

:58:00. > :58:03.medal. It is crazy. job. I cannot believe I have won a

:58:04. > :58:10.medal. You look like you belong on the senior stage. Getting to train

:58:21. > :58:24.not realise the score was so close between me and Daniel Keatings. I

:58:25. > :58:28.just concentrated on doing a good routine. I was happy to go through

:58:29. > :58:36.my routine and the support I have had has been brilliant. My dad took

:58:37. > :58:44.his top off and started waving it around. My dad is a bit crazy. It
