:39:16. > :39:19.corner given for that little bit of skill here. Right on half-time.
:39:20. > :39:24.Which is a bit of a blow for the Welsh team. They will play counts
:39:25. > :39:28.the penalty corner, until either a goal has been scored, or it goes
:39:29. > :39:45.over the baseline, or outside the circle. -- play out. Yes, this is a
:39:46. > :39:56.little backpass. With a reverse stick which causes trouble. The ball
:39:57. > :40:02.pops out. Ockenden, I think. The foot. Straight out from the base.
:40:03. > :40:17.Instructions from the Australian bench. Ciriello and sworn at the
:40:18. > :40:28.top. -- Swan. Number 25 is up there as well.
:40:29. > :40:44.Here we are. The last part of the first half. Can the Welsh keep it
:40:45. > :40:49.out? Can Australia convert? Ciriello again. Again, it is picked off. An
:40:50. > :40:53.excellent way to finish the half for Wales. There it is. They had all the
:40:54. > :41:03.work deep in defence against the fast running, skilful skills of
:41:04. > :41:16.Australia. Just having another look at that corner. Well done, David
:41:17. > :41:20.Kettle. Preliminary action, it is 3-0 at half-time.
:41:21. > :41:24.Kettle. Preliminary action, it is 3-0 And do not forget, Australia are
:41:25. > :41:27.the top ranked team in the world at the moment, let alone in the
:41:28. > :41:32.Commonwealth games. Wales are hanging on for the moment. The
:41:33. > :41:38.four-week join the hockey we had -- before the hockey, we had some
:41:39. > :41:46.stunning action had Kelvingrove. Scotland were playing against South
:41:47. > :41:56.Africa. South Africa took it 14-10. A great effort from the Scottish
:41:57. > :42:00.quartet. Well done to them. As we were saying earlier, there has been
:42:01. > :42:04.great excitement up and down the River Clyde today because it is the
:42:05. > :42:10.Clyde Flotilla. It has been a stunning sight. And alighted to say
:42:11. > :42:14.that Andrew from the Royal yacht Association joins us. Tell us about
:42:15. > :42:22.what we have been seeing. It is fabulous to see how busy it is. The
:42:23. > :42:25.idea behind the Flotilla was, as you know, sailing is not a Commonwealth
:42:26. > :42:31.Games sport, but we did not want to miss out on the action. We decided
:42:32. > :42:35.to host a sailing event. We have a 250 boats coming down the river, the
:42:36. > :42:40.largest assembly of boats ever on the river. We have brought just
:42:41. > :42:46.under 2000 people down the Clyde as part of the journey into the centre
:42:47. > :42:48.of Glasgow. That is seven times the size of Team Scotland. An amazing
:42:49. > :42:53.number of people sailing through Glasgow. It does not matter that
:42:54. > :42:57.ceiling is not involved in the games, you have done it yourself!
:42:58. > :43:05.What about these shipping vessels? There is a big range of them. We've
:43:06. > :43:09.seen a lot of gorgeous ones. The BBC got in trouble for calling them
:43:10. > :43:16.boats and ships. Today, we have had 250 vessels, actually 290,
:43:17. > :43:21.everything from small cruiser to large yachts. We have also had some
:43:22. > :43:30.work boats, the Clyde Puffin. That kind of vessel. And we had one of
:43:31. > :43:33.the ferries, a diesel hybrid. Again, it is not everyday you see ferry
:43:34. > :43:39.coming down the Clyde at the head of 250 boats. The Puffin is my
:43:40. > :43:43.favourite. I know it has been a great success for you. Thank you.
:43:44. > :43:48.When it comes to boxing, Glasgow has got such a rich history in the sport
:43:49. > :43:52.and that means that it has an incredibly knowledgeable and
:43:53. > :43:56.enthusiastic fan base. They are just across the other side of the sick
:43:57. > :44:03.see at the moment. And we have a great boat for them. --
:44:04. > :44:07.bbc.co.uk/sundaymorninglive. We have Michael Alexander from Trinidad and
:44:08. > :44:34.Tobago, taking on Otto Josef, who took the opening
:44:35. > :44:39.round in unanimous fashion. Five judges are scoring the contest. The
:44:40. > :44:44.referee says no knock-down. It may have been landed incorrectly. I'm
:44:45. > :44:50.sure that his trip to the canvas had something to do with Alexander's
:44:51. > :44:57.right hook. A change in tactic. The Nigerian corner have is he told them
:44:58. > :45:02.to close this fellow down. But at the same time, he have to move his
:45:03. > :45:10.head. He has got to close the gap. That is no good. You cannot allow
:45:11. > :45:18.this man the space to work. You have to crowd him or make him leave
:45:19. > :45:30.first. One or the other. Alexander has a wide leg at stance. Upon his
:45:31. > :45:38.toes, Alexander. A good right hand to the solar praxis. -- solar
:45:39. > :45:54.plexus. As his hand touched the ropes, Josef was on him. A whipping
:45:55. > :45:59.combination. It is fairly easy stuff for Alexander. You have a man in
:46:00. > :46:05.front of you, and you know he's going to come. You just have to get
:46:06. > :46:17.your time right and throw the correct shot. Simple stuff, for the
:46:18. > :46:24.man in blue. Inside the final minute of the second round. Joe says is on
:46:25. > :46:34.the front foot, picked off by some beautiful punching. Remaining
:46:35. > :46:41.committed to the cause. He is not managing to close the distance
:46:42. > :46:48.without paying a heavy toll. One of SECC's problems is that when he gets
:46:49. > :46:57.the opportunity, he is pure on the inside. On the inside, his arms are
:46:58. > :47:09.all over the place. He does not know how to work at close quarters.
:47:10. > :47:15.A big left-hand fired in by Otto Joseph. He finds himself on the
:47:16. > :47:22.canvas for a second time. But no knock-down. This man's speed and
:47:23. > :47:25.length is creating big problems for Otto Joseph, struggling to get to
:47:26. > :47:34.grips with the style and physicality of the man in front of them. Bread
:47:35. > :47:41.and butter stuff for Alexander here. A lovely shots to the body. Otto
:47:42. > :47:50.Joseph just cannot find room. Getting tangled up. And look at this
:47:51. > :47:53.shot up inside of the glove. But it really is bread-and-butter stuff for
:47:54. > :48:00.him. He has a slow moving target coming at him. You have to get the
:48:01. > :48:12.timing right. Easy stuff for the man in blue.
:48:13. > :48:21.Moving into the third and final round. The man in red is going to
:48:22. > :48:31.have to do something drastically different. A good right hand. A
:48:32. > :48:40.thunderous right cross. Alexander, looking to initiate a clinch.
:48:41. > :48:47.He was in a comfortable position throughout the opening two rounds.
:48:48. > :48:53.He appears to be on unsteady legs. A good shot from Joseph. The problem
:48:54. > :49:00.Otto Joseph has is that Alexander keeps moving away. He took the sting
:49:01. > :49:03.out. He got hot again, but because his movement is going backwards, it
:49:04. > :49:09.takes a little bit of power off his right hand. Joseph could get
:49:10. > :49:10.Alexander to come forward into that shot, he could have a devastating
:49:11. > :49:19.punch. Both of these men have won
:49:20. > :49:24.consecutive national titles. Otto Joseph took the national
:49:25. > :49:31.championships at 60 kilograms in 2014 and 2013. Three consecutive
:49:32. > :49:36.titles for Alexander. Starting in 2012 and coming through to earlier
:49:37. > :49:43.this year. Both were eliminated in the World Championships at
:49:44. > :49:48.Kazakhstan. He shared a ring with Robson at the Pan-American
:49:49. > :49:52.Championships. But through with a beautiful right hand. Otto Joseph is
:49:53. > :49:58.having a really difficult time trying to pin him down. The storm
:49:59. > :50:06.seems to have blown out from Otto Joseph. He started well. The first
:50:07. > :50:11.minute or so, but now the feet have slowed down again. He is looking a
:50:12. > :50:12.little desperate. He is telegraphing his attacks, making it even easier
:50:13. > :50:28.for Alexander. You must move your head, as you were
:50:29. > :50:33.going forward, Joseph. But a little head movement, and you get caught
:50:34. > :50:37.again. He is doing a wonderful job moving, Alexander, for the most
:50:38. > :50:42.part. But caught by a right cross at the start of the round. Now that is
:50:43. > :50:46.not a. Wrestling him to the ground. When his knees working contract with
:50:47. > :50:55.the canvas, he whipped out a left hand. -- were in contact. I've seen
:50:56. > :50:56.that cost other fighters the bout. Olympic boxing, of course, but very
:50:57. > :51:09.similar to that scenario. The ten second clapper has been
:51:10. > :51:16.sounded. A good left hand to the body once again. A signature shot
:51:17. > :51:22.for Michael Alexander. A high uppercut. Michael Alexander, the
:51:23. > :51:27.15th ranked boxer in the world, the highest ranked here, has surely done
:51:28. > :51:32.enough to go through to the next round. He was shaken up by a right
:51:33. > :51:40.cross by Otto Joseph early in the round. I thought it was -- that they
:51:41. > :51:40.were going to get into a waltz at one point.
:51:41. > :51:42.round. I thought it was -- that they were going to get into a waltz He
:51:43. > :51:46.hit him on the deck, the only clean shot he landed. For Alexander, you
:51:47. > :51:56.could not have asked for a better start to get yourself into the
:51:57. > :52:03.tournaments. Ladies and gentlemen, we go to our judges scorecards where
:52:04. > :52:11.we have a unanimous decision. In the blue corner, from Trinidad and
:52:12. > :52:16.Tobago, Michael Alexander. And please, ladies and gentlemen, show
:52:17. > :52:21.your appreciation, all the way from Nigeria, Otto Joseph. Michael
:52:22. > :52:26.Alexander, the 15th ranked boxer in the world, goes through to the
:52:27. > :52:33.second round of the Commonwealth Games lightweight boxing tournament.
:52:34. > :52:37.After a really effective and impressive display against the
:52:38. > :52:40.diminutive Otto Joseph. A unanimous winner on points. Alexander is
:52:41. > :52:45.through to the next round. Otto Joseph exits after the first
:52:46. > :52:48.preliminary bout. Back to the hockey, and Australia
:52:49. > :52:54.have taken every Commonwealth gold. They will be confident of making it
:52:55. > :52:59.five out of five. They are currently three nil up against Wales. Let's
:53:00. > :53:16.rejoin the second half will stop -- second half.
:53:17. > :53:26.A straight shot him. Just across the face. I think he was putting it in
:53:27. > :53:33.front of the goalkeeper. Great technique. A lovely ball. Looking
:53:34. > :53:42.for a diving forward. But he did not go down, which is unusual for the
:53:43. > :53:51.Australians. I think Wales are doing the right thing. The options have
:53:52. > :53:54.been cut down so quickly. That is what Australia do. They get in your
:53:55. > :54:10.face quickly and let you know they are there.
:54:11. > :54:22.They can keep up -- if they can keep up the tempo, and get something done
:54:23. > :54:26.it will enable them to get a foothold in the game. If the keep
:54:27. > :54:29.dropping back off the Australian team and not competing in midfield,
:54:30. > :55:00.it will find themselves in trouble again.
:55:01. > :55:57.Cornick Australia do. The
:55:58. > :56:07.A good tackle. Well read. And for the first five minutes of the second
:56:08. > :56:19.half, Wales have kept the Australian side scored less. Down three nil.
:56:20. > :56:23.They are covering the area and side scored less. Down three nil.
:56:24. > :56:25.filling the midfield up. Australia have moved their players to the edge
:56:26. > :02:08.of That is simply magic. Whetton gets
:02:09. > :02:14.his hat-trick. That is just being in the right place, having the skills
:02:15. > :02:21.to execute. A good move all the way from Australia. It came from two
:02:22. > :02:27.umpires not agreeing with each other, actually. Whetton is a really
:02:28. > :02:35.good, quick footed player in that area. He is very quick. But it
:02:36. > :02:40.developed from that hit out from the back. The closest umpire allowed it
:02:41. > :02:48.to go, this umpire blew it. You could hear them on the intercom
:02:49. > :02:55.talking. So, Australia get help. They just can't afford to relax at
:02:56. > :03:11.any stage. You cannot take your eye of any of the proceedings. -- your
:03:12. > :03:20.eye off. All four gold medals for Australia. 2002 in Manchester,
:03:21. > :03:25.Melbourne and again in Delhi. They demolished the home side 8-1.
:03:26. > :03:40.They've only ever was -- ever lost one match at the Commonwealth Games.
:03:41. > :03:50.Who did they lose against? I don't know. Another attack by Australia
:03:51. > :03:54.bag, still looking for goals. Wales need to slow down a bit. That ball
:03:55. > :04:05.was bouncing, it was pretty dangerous. Deep defence for Wales.
:04:06. > :04:45.Now they come again. Wales survive but they don't get the
:04:46. > :04:52.ball clear very easily. It is hard to get out of that gold ring of fire
:04:53. > :04:55.Australia have put forward. If they can just get possession up the pitch
:04:56. > :05:09.a little bit and retain it for a while... The answer to the question
:05:10. > :05:15.you asked, who is the team to beat Australia? The only time they've
:05:16. > :05:28.lost... Oh, it is a shot at goal! And they have scored. The Welsh team
:05:29. > :05:34.have got one on the board. Goal number one for Wales and the crowd
:05:35. > :05:40.have gone wild. A great move, the ball coming straight from the
:05:41. > :05:51.middle. A bit of deflection, and that is the chink in the armour.
:05:52. > :06:02.Watch the intensity now for Australia. Australia like clean
:06:03. > :06:29.sheets. But the chink in the arm in 1978 was South Africa.
:06:30. > :06:38.sheets. But the chink in the arm in close. Oh, gosh, tremendous hockey.
:06:39. > :06:40.This is million-dollar stuff here. If you've never watched it before,
:06:41. > :06:49.watching the broadcast, If you've never watched it before,
:06:50. > :06:54.seeing a team looking to get their champion combinations, playing
:06:55. > :07:17.some exquisite hockey. But they are being matched in spirit
:07:18. > :07:21.some exquisite hockey. But they are suddenly decided to have a go. A bit
:07:22. > :07:26.high, really, but look at that. I suppose the goalkeeper is fair game,
:07:27. > :07:31.really, with all the gear. You would not have shied away. No, they wear
:07:32. > :07:39.the pants, not have shied away. No, they wear
:07:40. > :07:43.they are in the way! Great hockey, it is so intense out there. That
:07:44. > :07:57.Welsh goal has heard the Australians. -- hurt.
:07:58. > :08:04.Welsh goal has heard the left, they might even get a card out
:08:05. > :08:17.of it. It was for the tackle out here. Is this a yellow card? There
:08:18. > :08:28.was no way the ball was going to get past, so it was a deliberate foul.
:08:29. > :08:43.So Kyriakidis for the tackle earlier, the yellow card. So, more
:08:44. > :08:44.than five minutes for him. You wouldn't want to get
:08:45. > :08:50.than five minutes for him. You bullets on the flesh. He's got
:08:51. > :09:13.kneepads on. Takes bullets on the flesh. He's got
:09:14. > :09:23.deflection at goal. Let's just have a look at number 19. Yes, you run is
:09:24. > :09:39.straight down the line of it. -- he runs. If the teams do not have any
:09:40. > :09:52.more referrals, the umpires can always have referrals as well. It
:09:53. > :10:03.came off the ground, so they have said it is dangerous. It was a good
:10:04. > :10:10.save, but it went into the armour. He actually battered the ball hard
:10:11. > :10:34.down onto the ground. More times than not that would've gone the
:10:35. > :10:42.other way, I guess. On the foot again. Australia trying their
:10:43. > :10:52.routines, but it's not working. The ice bucket will be out big time for
:10:53. > :11:01.the Welsh. The captain with the ball slapstick towards the goal, it hits
:11:02. > :11:07.the crossbar. A superb save again. Right over to the other side of the
:11:08. > :11:35.field, magnificent. I'm getting shivers would chink -- watching this
:11:36. > :11:47.Welsh team played. -- play. They will get a little respite now. Have
:11:48. > :11:48.a look at this save. Another double save, what a fantastic double save
:11:49. > :14:10.that was. Both sides of his body. Australia calling for a referral.
:14:11. > :14:15.They think it hit a foot. Can you hear me? The Australians are looking
:14:16. > :14:25.for interference on the shot on goal. They want a penalty stroke.
:14:26. > :14:36.That's a big call. It's only a referral. It's not a big deal is it.
:14:37. > :14:44.They might as well have a go. He put his stick over the top. It's
:14:45. > :14:53.the intent. He came from behind. It got caught. I'm not sure about that.
:14:54. > :14:57.Don't know if I would give a strike for that -- stroke for that. But
:14:58. > :15:02.then I'm a defensive Being an player. Attacker, I'd like one,
:15:03. > :15:08.please. What are they going to say upstairs? The guy comes in from
:15:09. > :15:12.behind. He tries to make a tackle. His the Aussie's foot, drops his
:15:13. > :15:15.stick. Now is that a penalty stroke? You have to have the stick in your
:15:16. > :15:31.hand.. Stick interfere? That could be a foul there, if he
:15:32. > :15:46.put the player off. Everyone's having a very good chat
:15:47. > :15:52.on that. A good look at it. Making their own decision. The players are
:15:53. > :15:57.not queueing up. They've not gone to the penalty spot. That tells a
:15:58. > :16:06.story. The Australians standing there, leaning on their sticks.
:16:07. > :16:14.Gavin? Yeah. No clear reason to change your decision. Australia lose
:16:15. > :16:29.their referral. OK. No penalty stroke, you lose your
:16:30. > :16:35.referral and start from the sideline. Neither team now can
:16:36. > :16:38.refer. Australia lose their referral. Love the confidence of
:16:39. > :16:43.their Australians, not only to look for the penalty corner, but a
:16:44. > :16:58.penalty stroke even. Fair enough, if that's the mind set.

:17:49. > :18:00.That was a good tackle. That was a big tackle. There was a big clash
:18:01. > :18:15.there. Oh, brave. Great tackle. That's very
:18:16. > :18:49.brave. for Australia, Australia beat the
:18:50. > :18:52.Netherlands 6-1 in the final. It was a fantastic game of hockey actually.
:18:53. > :19:06.The 12 of those guys are here now playing today.
:19:07. > :19:14.While we have seen some exchanges between the umpires and the players

:19:29. > :19:31.what the umpire is thinking. What start questioning decisions
:19:32. > :19:32.what the umpire is thinking. What time. Quite rightly there's been

:19:35. > :19:55.what the umpire is thinking. What Also, they've got,
:19:56. > :20:35.It's lost its preciseness, for Australia, the accurate passing.
:20:36. > :20:41.It says a lot for what Wales have put on them in the second half. 3-0
:20:42. > :21:03.at halftime. What a fantastic, 31 shots from
:21:04. > :21:04.Australia against two for Wales. Australia have
:21:05. > :21:06.Australia against two for Wales. and lots of chances. That's the way
:21:07. > :21:12.they play their hockey. But they don't always convert, five
:21:13. > :21:35.out of 31 is one in six. That would have come off had he not
:21:36. > :22:07.slipped. The whistle went, strong whistle,
:22:08. > :22:26.Prosser turned around and said, "No." And the umpire said yes.
:22:27. > :22:31.A five-minute, at least, on the bench.
:22:32. > :22:40.Wales will have to work harder with their ten men now.
:22:41. > :22:49.It's the second yellow card for Wales as well. That will be all up
:22:50. > :22:51.ten minutes against the Australian players in the second half. They
:22:52. > :23:26.will begin to get very tired now. So much hang in that circle. That's
:23:27. > :23:35.superb defend thering from Wales not to give away a penalty corner.
:23:36. > :23:40.Penalty stroke, there it is. This time called with the help of Umpire
:23:41. > :23:55.Madden. I think it was the deliberateness of
:23:56. > :24:01.the foul. Using the body. Yeah the assessment there is that he was
:24:02. > :24:09.charged over. It was a deliberate foul. There's no doubt. The Welsh
:24:10. > :24:14.skipper, Ruxton. He's lucky not to get a card for that, as well.
:24:15. > :24:23.The Australian captain will come up to the mark.
:24:24. > :24:38.David Kettle in goal for Wales will have his sternest test today.
:24:39. > :24:45.Oh, he saved it! He looked like a save. I think it hit the post.
:24:46. > :24:50.Yeah it was off the post. A good stroke, but just slightly too wide.
:24:51. > :25:00.But Kettle put him off. I think Kettle is claiming a stick. That's
:25:01. > :25:08.another one in the cued yos box for David Kettle -- kudos.
:25:09. > :25:27.The captain is down for Wales, Ruxton. A head clash. Did it hit the
:25:28. > :25:51.nose? No the cheek bone. That looks very painful.
:25:52. > :26:04.Philpott up and about. We apologise for any heated
:26:05. > :26:07.language. Ruxton is not moving. Strong words were coming from the
:26:08. > :26:12.Australian captain as well Mark Knowles.
:26:13. > :26:19.APPLAUSE He was remonstrating with the
:26:20. > :26:28.umpire. Ruxton now is up and about, hopefully, on his knees. He's 32
:26:29. > :26:32.years of age. His 114th cap for his country.
:26:33. > :26:39.APPLAUSE He looks a bit woozy. He has a bit
:26:40. > :26:46.of an egg on that jaw, has he? Just by that left eye, side of the jaw.
:26:47. > :26:50.That might be him done for the day. Seven minutes remain in the match.
:26:51. > :26:53.Strong words exchanged from the Australian captain Knowles, who has
:26:54. > :27:54.got the ball just in front of him now.
:27:55. > :28:04.describe it as. Australia are putting this Welsh defence under
:28:05. > :28:26.huge amounts of pressure. Can they get the hit away? Good work there by
:28:27. > :28:36.Australia. That defence is pretty good. Australia is so strong around
:28:37. > :28:42.that area. 12 corners, they've had. Wales
:28:43. > :28:43.that area. 12 corners, they've had. the second half. But they have got
:28:44. > :28:52.that goal, scored by Kyriakidis. the second half. But they have got
:28:53. > :29:07.They will want a finish from this, the second half. But they have got
:29:08. > :29:15.conversion. They are not the second half. But they have got
:29:16. > :29:23.what lies ahead of them. Great corner defence again from Wales.
:29:24. > :29:30.They've defended nine corners successfully against this
:29:31. > :30:13.They've defended nine corners Australian team. That was Kyriakidis
:30:14. > :30:16.out. A double team tackle. A trademark Australian goal number
:30:17. > :30:26.six, four minutes remaining in the match. Finally, something from all
:30:27. > :30:30.this pressure that Australia have had in the second half. Clever work
:30:31. > :30:34.along the had in the second half. Clever work
:30:35. > :31:21.easy tap in had in the second half. Clever work
:31:22. > :31:27.number six. The Australian was within five metres, but there is no
:31:28. > :31:34.defence, really. Such is the competitive nature of both these
:31:35. > :31:43.teams, they are having a go. Wales is now causing trouble in the
:31:44. > :31:52.Australian end. I guess the other thing is, there is the captain, a
:31:53. > :32:06.big blow high on his left cheek. Head concussions these days, you
:32:07. > :32:18.just have to be so careful. When teams target Australia, they just
:32:19. > :32:30.pack away. You have to match them physically, otherwise you have no
:32:31. > :32:48.chance. Kyriakidis keep fit in. -- keeps it in. So expert in bringing
:32:49. > :32:58.down the high ball. He will be out as well, I think. A silly foul to
:32:59. > :33:01.give away, if that's what it is. Easy enough to run behind someone
:33:02. > :33:08.and just catch their leg when they are running forward like that. He
:33:09. > :33:22.gets a yellow card for his trouble. Wales are down to ten men. Under two
:33:23. > :33:44.minutes to play. And goal number seven! Perfect. Again, that ball
:33:45. > :34:00.across the keeper, too far out of his reach. Gohdes's second and
:34:01. > :34:12.across the keeper, too far out of Australia's seven. Just over a
:34:13. > :34:16.minute left in the match. Very tired players from Wales. They had a big
:34:17. > :34:37.game yesterday in the heats against India, going down 3-1. Their years.
:34:38. > :35:10.He won't be getting any more action. -- there he is.
:35:11. > :35:18.And the first match is finished for Australia in this Glasgow
:35:19. > :35:22.Commonwealth Games 2014. It seems as though it started an age ago, so
:35:23. > :35:30.much has happened. Referrals, both teams lost them. Heroes, you would
:35:31. > :35:36.have to say Australia with their scoreline. But much to admire from
:35:37. > :35:41.what Wales brought to the game. They shake hands, there weren't many warm
:35:42. > :35:45.moments on the park, but it is Australia who have beaten Wales. The
:35:46. > :35:52.world champions have started off their campaign 7-1. Yesterday,
:35:53. > :35:55.Australia's ladies put nine goals past Wales. Today, 7-1 for the
:35:56. > :36:44.Australian men. I leave the ashram, travel halfway
:36:45. > :36:48.across the world to find my father, Oh, well. As Vashrati says,
:36:49. > :36:56.gotta keep smiling! We don't tend to use the bathroom
:36:57. > :36:58.together here. All right, well,
:36:59. > :37:00.I'll catch you later. This ashram of yours,
:37:01. > :37:04.it might be a cult. I take it back,
:37:05. > :37:27.he's definitely Cuckoo's son. Back to Glasgow after this update. A
:37:28. > :37:32.judge has been accused of falling asleep during a rape trial. He is
:37:33. > :37:37.now being investigated. The trial had to be abandoned. People in Gaza
:37:38. > :37:44.are stocking up on supplies during a pause in fighting. Bodies have been
:37:45. > :37:49.recovered in London. These are not clouds, they are dust. A massive
:37:50. > :37:56.storm has rolled through Phoenix, Arizona. Boxer Tyson furious has
:37:57. > :38:03.pulled out of his fight tonight in Manchester. It is after his uncle
:38:04. > :38:07.was taken seriously ill. And the largest flotilla ever seen on the
:38:08. > :38:13.Clyde has sailed to Glasgow. It is thought around 250 small boats took
:38:14. > :38:17.part. Now, back to live action from Glasgow.
:38:18. > :38:19.Yeah, I am looking for a Prince Charming.
:38:20. > :38:23.I don't think I'm ugly, but I don't think I'm, like, really pretty.
:38:24. > :38:29.I say, "You've got something on your bum." "Really?" And I say,
:38:30. > :39:40.We've been asking you to send in your photos. You have been
:39:41. > :39:53.responding, this is me in my home away from home, the BBC studio. And
:39:54. > :39:59.this is Andy on the flotilla. Stephen sent in a pretty good one.
:40:00. > :40:15.That is fantastic. The Brownlee Brothers going for gold and silver.
:40:16. > :40:17.And this is a fantastic photo. He is teaching the mascot his trademark
:40:18. > :40:33.move. Please continue to get in touch with us. You can do so via
:40:34. > :40:41.Facebook and Twitter. Now, plenty more still to come. We have said
:40:42. > :40:47.Glasgow is famous for boxing bouts. We sent out Tony Singh to explain
:40:48. > :40:59.how Glasgow has become the curry capital as well. We are a nation of
:41:00. > :41:10.curry lovers. You cannot beat a Glasgow curry. Glasgow has one the
:41:11. > :41:14.curry capital title in Britain several times. Probably at least
:41:15. > :41:20.twice a week. That's more than me! several times. Probably at least
:41:21. > :41:25.twice a week. That's more There is no question Glasgow is a city
:41:26. > :41:28.infused with the spice and labour of curry, all banks to a diverse
:41:29. > :41:35.community rooted in the Commonwealth. Indian immigrants
:41:36. > :41:38.settled in Scotland as early as the 1920s, but it was the partition of
:41:39. > :41:46.India explosion. Confronted with political
:41:47. > :41:51.upheaval and rising unemployment, many
:41:52. > :41:54.upheaval and rising unemployment, Commonwealth. By 1970, there were
:41:55. > :42:09.around What was it like when you came over
:42:10. > :42:13.in the 1960s? In 1962 there was a completely different for me, because
:42:14. > :42:17.I came from village. In here, there was a tall buildings, dark
:42:18. > :42:21.buildings, dark streets and the whole things. The whole thing was
:42:22. > :42:26.And cold dark. . Very cold. In winter there was a lot of snow. Me
:42:27. > :42:32.and my father opened a small press straunt only five tables. My mother
:42:33. > :42:38.and my father, they were in the kitchen. It's more like home
:42:39. > :42:42.cooking. Who were your clientele? We had most clientele from the
:42:43. > :42:45.university, mostly Indian and Pakistani students. They started
:42:46. > :42:51.bringing Scottish people also, Scottish students. They came and
:42:52. > :42:57.they acquired the taste. Then the restaurant start picking up. Every
:42:58. > :43:02.day was better than last day. Over the decades, Glasgow's Asian
:43:03. > :43:08.community has helped change the palate of the city. Used to, you
:43:09. > :43:14.know, there was a milder curry. And now, people have slightly hotter,
:43:15. > :43:21.more spicy. They know the difference in cooking. Now the Glaswegian have
:43:22. > :43:26.great taste. Today, the authentic flavours of India and Pakistan are
:43:27. > :43:30.second nature to Glaswegians. There's more flavour in a Glasgow
:43:31. > :43:36.curry. Curry is synonymous with the city. The two go together. Hotter,
:43:37. > :43:41.it's sharper. I think it's just a taste of Glasgow. A taste of home.
:43:42. > :43:46.Curry culture goes to the heart of this city. It's fused communities
:43:47. > :43:52.and cuisines from across the Commonwealth and now Scotland's
:43:53. > :43:57.serving it back to the world. Almost makes us hungry. Now, in preparation
:43:58. > :44:02.for the Commonwealth Games, I was given the challenge of taking part
:44:03. > :44:05.in skeet. It was against the Young Sports Personality of the Year,
:44:06. > :44:09.Amber Hill, so I didn't fare very well. If you've ever tried sporting
:44:10. > :44:13.clays, you'll know how difficult that is. If you think what skeet is,
:44:14. > :44:22.it's a bit like Formula One, it's the fast relation of clays.
:44:23. > :44:30.Shot gun requires competitors to fire at moving targets, disks called
:44:31. > :44:37.clays, made of pitch and chalk. They are launched in different directions
:44:38. > :44:41.from a trap. Targets are released on command from the shooter. A hit is
:44:42. > :44:47.declared when at least one visible piece of clay is seen to fall from
:44:48. > :44:52.the target. Targets are 11 centimetres and travel at 60mph. In
:44:53. > :44:55.all shot gun events the shooter has to be standing with both hands
:44:56. > :45:00.supporting the gun. In Glasgow, there are three separate shot gun
:45:01. > :45:04.events, skeet, trap and double trap. In skeet, one or two clays are
:45:05. > :45:08.launched out of different traps at different heights. One just over
:45:09. > :45:13.three metres and a second just over a metre. In the trap event, shooters
:45:14. > :45:19.fire at single clays, launched from a trap 15 metres in front of them.
:45:20. > :45:24.They get two shots in qualification but only one in the final. In double
:45:25. > :45:29.trap shooters are 15 metres from the trap pit and two clays are launched.
:45:30. > :45:32.The shooters have one shot at each clay. In all events, the top six
:45:33. > :45:55.shooters advance to the semifinals. Chasikos to shoot first. It's a
:45:56. > :45:58.repeat of the semifinal. So another 16 targets and straight into the
:45:59. > :46:15.action nowment -- now.
:46:16. > :46:31.And he goes one, one again. Four from four for Chasikos.
:46:32. > :46:45.They have to be shot in the order prescribed. Four from four for both
:46:46. > :46:56.of them. High target first. Then the low in
:46:57. > :47:27.the second double. This is the battle for the bronze
:47:28. > :47:41.medal. This is the
:47:42. > :47:52.Warlow drops one. And another.
:47:53. > :48:21.Now a two-target gap opens up. Cyprus in both the bronze and Gold
:48:22. > :48:40.Medal matches. He will feel the confidence of that
:48:41. > :48:53.lead now. He drops one.
:48:54. > :49:08.Warlow has to shoot clean. He collects them.
:49:09. > :49:12.So Warlow now just one target hipped.
:49:13. > :49:20.The final four targets. Still anyone's race. This is the
:49:21. > :49:35.battle for bronze. He dropped both. So that has blown
:49:36. > :50:00.it wide-open. This gives Warlow the opportunity to
:50:01. > :50:30.win the bronze medal. He breaks it. So Warlow from England
:50:31. > :50:36.takes the bronze medal, after falling behind early in that bronze
:50:37. > :50:40.medal match. Chasikos fell apart in the last double missing both targets
:50:41. > :50:41.to give Warlow the bronze medal in a remarkable finish to that bronze
:50:42. > :50:55.medal match. A large English presence here
:50:56. > :51:06.cheering Rory Warlow. Almost immediately, we will be moving into
:51:07. > :51:08.the Gold Medal match. That's between Drew Christie and Georgios Achilleos
:51:09. > :51:24.of Cyprus. While there's a little bit of cloud
:51:25. > :51:28.here today, as you can see, light cloud, it's still a magnificent day
:51:29. > :51:35.for watching shooting and a large turnout in the stand. A lot of local
:51:36. > :51:39.Scottish people, but just generally happy to be seeing shooting. There's
:51:40. > :51:44.the reception for Drew Christie from Scotland. Not only is he from
:51:45. > :51:47.Scotland, but he's right from this area, near Carnoustie, Dundee, just
:51:48. > :52:29.down the road. Hush from the crowd as he drops one
:52:30. > :52:49.target now. The nerves are playing a big part
:52:50. > :53:08.here. So Drew Christie is in the lead by
:53:09. > :53:33.one target. A double miss. So nerves playing an
:53:34. > :53:55.enormous part here. Settled himself and got two. So
:53:56. > :54:21.Achilleos now has to shoot this station clean.
:54:22. > :54:25.Anything can still happen in this battle. Achilleos now takes the lead
:54:26. > :54:27.by one. This is the halfway mark of this
:54:28. > :54:36.Gold Medal match. The order of the doubles changes,
:54:37. > :54:42.where the first double has to be shot the low house target first.
:54:43. > :55:10.The second double is the high house target first.
:55:11. > :55:17.The Silver Medal is his, but he wants gold. And a double miss.
:55:18. > :55:36.That's a huge blow. Six targets down.
:55:37. > :55:49.He's got a sniff now of the victory that potentially awaits him.
:55:50. > :56:18.Achilleos has really got some confidence going now.
:56:19. > :56:23.The best Drew Christie could hope for now is a shoot-off. Now it's all
:56:24. > :56:45.over. It's just the formality. it go at the end. He knew he could
:56:46. > :56:57.not win the medal. A big disappointment for him,, but
:56:58. > :57:01.Achilleos now to finish it. That is what the pressure of this
:57:02. > :57:03.environment does. Achilleos now thriving on the confidence that he
:57:04. > :57:03.has environment does. Achilleos now
:57:04. > :57:04.thriving on the gained thriving on the confidence that he
:57:05. > :57:16.has from Christie's misfortune. Super-confident now to finish that
:57:17. > :57:22.off, dropping the two targets to win the gold medal, his second
:57:23. > :57:27.individual Commonwealth gold medal. He has won the gold in Melbourne,
:57:28. > :57:34.the silver in Delhi, and the gold here. A big cheer for the silver
:57:35. > :57:41.medallist from Scotland, Drew Christie! And a big round of
:57:42. > :57:45.applause for Drew Christie, he was no doubt extremely disappointed with
:57:46. > :57:47.the way the semifinal went, but he has got a silver medal at the
:57:48. > :57:54.Commonwealth Games in front of a home crowd, a huge achievement.
:57:55. > :57:57.Within the next ten minutes, we will have the medal ceremony... The
:57:58. > :58:04.official results shortly, but there is absolutely no doubt, Achilleos of
:58:05. > :58:27.Cyprus has won the gold medal and Drew Christie has won the silver.
:58:28. > :58:34.And these are the official results. George us like Ilyas -- Achilleos of
:58:35. > :58:53.Cyprus is top. Scotland have got 17 medals. Back to
:58:54. > :58:55.the hockey now. Will Scotland put their home advantage to the same use
:58:56. > :59:25.here? They will certainly give it a try.
:59:26. > :59:37.Nearly ready to start in this match, India played their second
:59:38. > :59:46.match yesterday, going down to South Africa, 2-0. India beat Wales 3-1,
:59:47. > :59:55.and it was Scotland going down to South Africa 2-0.
:59:56. > :59:58.The sun is bursting through the cloud cover. The lights are on in
:59:59. > :00:18.the middle. Time to go the umpire has checked
:00:19. > :00:23.that the goals are in place. Scotland now ready themselves for
:00:24. > :00:32.what India will bring to this match.
:00:33. > :00:35.India will have learned from their suffocating defence from Wales
:00:36. > :00:46.yesterday. Scotland starts, their second match
:00:47. > :01:17.in the campaign. Can they get a win after their loss?
:01:18. > :01:35.The strongest are evidence for India, Sardar Singh.
:01:36. > :02:28.Scotland are really stretching a play. They have
:02:29. > :02:31.Scotland are really stretching a very high in the Indian circle,
:02:32. > :02:36.another one not far behind, so they are trying to stretch out the Indian
:02:37. > :02:40.defence as much as they can and use the pockets of space in the midfield
:02:41. > :02:43.to try to get the ball further the pitch. Number 13
:02:44. > :02:47.to try to get the ball further the It will be in play a lot when
:02:48. > :03:05.Scotland have the ball, have possession.
:03:06. > :03:15.Kenny Bain, across the face, he had the right idea. Fantastic quick play
:03:16. > :03:17.by Scotland, which I think will be crucial today.
:03:18. > :03:20.by Scotland, which I think will be from McIntyre, unfortunately he did
:03:21. > :03:30.not read it quick enough. Gordon McIntyre is under
:03:31. > :03:56.treasure. He gets it onto the foot. Enjoying quite a bit of possession
:03:57. > :04:02.already in this match, Scotland, the up and over, overhead. They were
:04:03. > :04:15.looking for a bit of danger there. David Forsyth try sitting to the
:04:16. > :04:28.circle, and it just misses by David Forsyth try sitting to the
:04:29. > :04:33.man. Brilliant build-up play by Scotland there. Great crash ball.
:04:34. > :04:37.This dive was fantastic, when that put Kenny Bain for not, I don't No.
:04:38. > :04:39.But put Kenny Bain for not, I don't No.
:04:40. > :05:01.far in this game. A lot of stick in there, almost
:05:02. > :05:21.ending up like kindling wood. India just backing off from that
:05:22. > :05:41.freeze it, causing a mistake and putting pressure on.
:05:42. > :05:56.It is in! What a goal. He wasn't backing off. Fantastic quick canvas
:05:57. > :06:02.by India, which is what you tend to associate with that style of its
:06:03. > :06:04.hockey. I think it was a direct shot, I do not think there was a
:06:05. > :06:22.touch from Ramandeep Singh. shot, I do not think there was a
:06:23. > :06:27.Singh opens the scoring. And after just five minutes of play, seemingly
:06:28. > :06:36.from nothing, and this is almost chameleon-like, the way that India
:06:37. > :06:38.put their game plan together. It can be a
:06:39. > :06:40.put their game plan together. It can but when it counts, they are in
:06:41. > :06:57.there. They are convertors. Again, the goal-scorer has the ball.
:06:58. > :07:24.He shows his versatility in defence. They are trying to manipulate the
:07:25. > :07:49.Scottish defence. Just short of a shot on goal,
:07:50. > :08:17.fortunately for Scotland. Referral here. Team referral for
:08:18. > :08:25.India, looking for a foot. This is the ball on the baseline. Yes, it
:08:26. > :08:29.has come off the right foot. The Scottish defence is already putting
:08:30. > :08:33.on their penalty corner. Straightaway, Nicholas Parkes new it
:08:34. > :08:40.hit his foot, and he is one of those putting on the kit. We have a
:08:41. > :08:49.decision. It has come off the foot and it should be a penalty corner.

:50:22. > :50:26.happen to have it there. If you ever aware of them all together you are
:50:27. > :50:34.going to need a very strong neck. Thank you for joining us. Lovely to
:50:35. > :50:37.speak to you. Thank you. Since we were last at Glasgow Green India
:50:38. > :50:45.have scored another goal against Scotland. They have come back out
:50:46. > :50:53.for the second half and gone 3-0 up. Now we can rejoin the match alive
:50:54. > :51:09.and see how Scotland will fear. -- fair.
:51:10. > :51:23.COMMENTATOR: Good division they are. Grassick, the captain for Scotland
:51:24. > :51:28.-- good vision. That is the past Scotland need to make, and more
:51:29. > :51:33.sympathetic pass, played into space, Alan Ring the strikers to look
:51:34. > :51:38.around them as they track the ball rather than having to concentrate
:51:39. > :51:44.solely on trapping the ball -- allowing. Pressure on the ball
:51:45. > :52:00.carrier. Rupinder finds his captain Sardar.
:52:01. > :52:08.Soft hand touch. Those are the subtleties that I was seeing in the
:52:09. > :52:17.game. -- that I love seeing. Into the circle. That is just magic.
:52:18. > :52:27.Chandi has got a little shave en masse. From nothing. -- on this.
:52:28. > :52:28.Such a beautiful deflection. Using the speed of the ball coming across
:52:29. > :52:38.the circle. Deflected it on the near the circle. Deflected it on the near
:52:39. > :52:47.the far post and it is something he makes look very easy but it is not.
:52:48. > :52:54.Fantastic goal made to look very easy by Chandi there. The angle from
:52:55. > :53:02.right outweighed, where the drive came in -- right outweighed. That is
:53:03. > :53:29.what we have come to admire from India.
:53:30. > :53:35.They get one back, Scotland, penalty corner time. They have already had
:53:36. > :53:52.one. Was called very quickly, off the
:53:53. > :54:00.shins are of the Indian defender. -- of the shin pad. If Scotland can get
:54:01. > :54:07.this one here and get the crowd behind them then it could help lift
:54:08. > :54:14.them for the second half. Vocal support from the Scottish crowd. Our
:54:15. > :54:26.wonderful save from the vice captain PR Sreejesh.
:54:27. > :54:34.India trying to get out of trouble in defence, they will get a free
:54:35. > :54:42.hit. They are loving having Chandi back in the side. Great effort from
:54:43. > :55:08.Coultas. The free hit to Scotland. Runs off
:55:09. > :55:10.the stick of an India. Kenny Bain is just a little frustrated, thought he
:55:11. > :55:43.was impeded. Coultas. Soft hand pass into the
:55:44. > :55:52.middle for Scotland to latch onto. The crowd willing on the home team.
:55:53. > :56:06.Clever little jink into the circle, can he get the shot away?
:56:07. > :56:13.Do you teach that when you are coaching? I probably shouldn't, but
:56:14. > :56:27.having seen how effective it was I probably will. Forward momentum, one
:56:28. > :56:36.hand on the stick. 4-0. India over Scotland. Have not allowed the Scots
:56:37. > :57:08.to get into the game at all. Here is another foray again.
:57:09. > :57:54.ball anywhere into the goal. Used all of his
:57:55. > :57:58.ball anywhere into the goal. Used all of strength and power.
:57:59. > :58:04.Fantastic. When you are in goal and you have a drag flick back can put
:58:05. > :58:50.the ball into the different corners, it is so difficult to
:58:51. > :59:04.India are playing almost like Australia at the moment. Iain Moody.
:59:05. > :59:13.You have got to feel the Scotland a You have got to feel the Scotland a
:59:14. > :59:15.moments, being in the right place. They have still got the ball.
:59:16. > :59:34.moments, being in the right place. of tournaments do you have to raise
:59:35. > :59:37.hard so defensively. But they are attacking in ones and two. So it
:59:38. > :59:49.will be hard for them to get attacking in ones and two. So it
:59:50. > :59:56.scoresheet. We have seen from the win yesterday I enjoyed over Wales,
:59:57. > :59:57.there has been a lot more confidence exuding out of this Indian side. The
:59:58. > :00:05.after that exuding out of this Indian side. The
:00:06. > :00:06.Cup, they probably could have been on four points after
:00:07. > :00:13.Cup, they probably could have been ended up on zero, just because they
:00:14. > :00:18.Cup, they probably could have been conceded goals towards the end of
:00:19. > :00:28.the game. If you can get an Indian side playing confidently, they are a
:00:29. > :00:31.fantastic team to watch. The two umpires working together.
:00:32. > :00:39.fantastic team to watch. The two equipment is getting well used. It
:00:40. > :00:57.is rolling off the know exactly where the space is and
:00:58. > :01:12.are. Simply penalty corner. Three from five conversion rate is superb.
:01:13. > :01:18.Rupinder Singh this time. It is outrageous. It is the angle and the
:01:19. > :01:25.precision they are able to put it in. It wasn't cleanly stopped on top
:01:26. > :01:34.of the circle so he did well. World-class. The drag is over two or
:01:35. > :01:38.three yards. I don't think any of the Scotland defender 's even saw
:01:39. > :01:59.that until they came back out of the goal. 6-0 and 21 minutes to play.
:02:00. > :02:03.You can't have the advantage and play, then want to get it back. It
:02:04. > :02:23.does not come back to you if it does not come off.
:02:24. > :02:36.Daniel Coultas. Iain Moody has been very busy at the front for
:02:37. > :02:44.Scotland, has done a power of running. He has, but unfortunately
:02:45. > :02:51.has almost been a lone ranger. One or two strikers making it into the
:02:52. > :02:59.circle and it is difficult to take on for Indian defenders by yourself.
:03:00. > :03:10.Harmlessly over the baseline. Not a lot of options. Scotland working
:03:11. > :03:22.hard but nothing is coming off for them.
:03:23. > :03:33.The captain, Saar da Singh. Was going to drive it but opted for the
:03:34. > :03:45.past. Electrifying pace. Look at that! Just spoiled by the finish.
:03:46. > :03:54.Magic. Absolutely brilliant spin here by Mujtaba. He not only manages
:03:55. > :04:07.to spin on the spot, but passes the ball as well.
:04:08. > :04:40.I don't think I have ever seen Indian players run so hard at the
:04:41. > :04:56.defenders with the ball. Chandi is back on.
:04:57. > :05:04.India managed to put two past Scotland in the first half and since
:05:05. > :05:08.then they have managed another four. I think we will be leaving the
:05:09. > :05:15.hockey. Now it is time to join weightlifting. When I say the words
:05:16. > :05:20.precious Mackenzie, I don't mean me. He is a South African born
:05:21. > :05:22.weightlifter who want Commonwealth Games medals for New Zealand and
:05:23. > :05:40.also England. The story is fascinating. He has done it. He did
:05:41. > :05:46.not quite reach five feet in height but became a symbol of the smiling
:05:47. > :05:52.strongman. Precious McKenzie, delighted with that. He was not born
:05:53. > :06:00.to be as strong as this. He was born in Durban, South Africa in 1936. The
:06:01. > :06:03.teenager in the apartheid years. His father was killed by a crocodile and
:06:04. > :06:12.young precious McKenzie was placed into care. Sometimes abused but
:06:13. > :06:17.always poor. He had a dream of being a circus acrobat. He started to lift
:06:18. > :06:23.weights. He became so good, he was selected for the 1964 Olympic Games
:06:24. > :06:27.in Tokyo. As long as he Access did being segregated from the white
:06:28. > :06:35.members of the South African team. He refused. This is a joke. Precious
:06:36. > :06:42.came with his family to England and began a new life. He made leather
:06:43. > :06:49.for shoes in Northampton and then he studied physical education in
:06:50. > :06:52.Bristol. What he did with absolute consistency was when at the
:06:53. > :06:59.Commonwealth Games. Precious McKenzie. Trying for a new
:07:00. > :07:09.Commonwealth Games record in the snatch. 1966, gold medal in Kingston
:07:10. > :07:20.Jamaica. 1970, gold medal in Edinburgh. Precious McKenzie. Four
:07:21. > :07:24.feet 11. He is going to do it. He is going to do it! He has done it! What
:07:25. > :07:44.a wonderful lift by precious McKenzie. 1974, gold medal in
:07:45. > :07:49.Christchurch, New Zealand. He is Burke, makes it look so easy. New
:07:50. > :07:52.records in British weightlifting in the Commonwealth Games. After he
:07:53. > :07:59.emigrated to New Zealand and that the age of 42, he won the gold medal
:08:00. > :08:02.for his new homeland in 1978. Commonwealth Games history. Four
:08:03. > :08:15.gold medals, nobody has ever done it. Precious McKenzie, a tower of
:08:16. > :08:20.strength against oppression. Weightlifting takes place in a
:08:21. > :08:25.competition area of four metres square. 15 categories on body
:08:26. > :08:31.weight, eight for men and seven for women. Each competitor has a minute
:08:32. > :08:38.to attempt at their lift from the time their name is announced. Three
:08:39. > :08:46.referees adjudicate each lift, once a competitor is motionless, a buzz
:08:47. > :08:50.that will complete the lift. There are two types of competition lift.
:08:51. > :08:56.The snatched and the clean and jerk. The snatch isn't uninterrupted
:08:57. > :09:03.movement. The clean and jerk has lived in two distinct phases. In the
:09:04. > :09:07.first part, the rah is -- bar is raised to chest height. Demba Ba is
:09:08. > :09:22.lifted above the head in the second part.
:09:23. > :09:29.Michaela Breeze from Wales came out of retirement and is in a
:09:30. > :09:34.head-to-head with Zoe Smith. She is England's first Commonwealth Games
:09:35. > :09:58.medallist. Let's head over and join them. She did carry the Queen's
:09:59. > :10:04.baton. This is the serious bit. She came here for the gold medal. That
:10:05. > :10:15.is what she came out of retirement for. She comes into the second half
:10:16. > :10:24.of the competition but only with one K advantage over her rival, Zoe
:10:25. > :10:48.Smith. Zoe is planning on being two kilos heavier. That was very safe.
:10:49. > :11:03.Don't use place on the podium. 201 kilos. The
:11:04. > :11:19.Commonwealth Games record is 202, set in Manchester 2002.
:11:20. > :11:33.Commonwealth Games record is 202, There are plenty of challenges. Zoe
:11:34. > :11:40.Smith has gone to 112. I have a feeling the Nigerian might actually
:11:41. > :11:46.come out on that. At the moment, Michaela is 109. The Welsh team
:11:47. > :11:49.deciding where they want to go. Michaela at the heart of the
:11:50. > :11:53.decision and looking hard as Michaela at the heart of the
:11:54. > :11:59.clock counts down. She has about 40 seconds. They have made the
:12:00. > :12:05.decision. None of them have seconds. They have made the
:12:06. > :12:11.to do with the decision, but Michaela is in control of her
:12:12. > :12:18.destiny here. I think the clock ran out on her. She is not happy with
:12:19. > :12:27.that. She is deciding if she wants to spend time with this 109. It is
:12:28. > :12:31.only one K, and I would have expected at least two. The clock ran
:12:32. > :12:39.out on her and she is shaking her head. They ran out of time to make a
:12:40. > :12:41.decision. It does not matter, Michaela is so strong. She will get
:12:42. > :13:04.over the frustration, make this lift and make a bit more ground in the
:13:05. > :13:12.clean and jerk. This will equal the Commonwealth Games record total.
:13:13. > :13:19.Look at that focus. Just forgets what just happens. She is saying
:13:20. > :13:27.sorry to the crowd. It doesn't matter. Sometimes that is the reason
:13:28. > :13:30.athletes should not get involved because coaches are very aware of
:13:31. > :13:37.the time limit and there was too much chatter. There may have been,
:13:38. > :13:41.but I think they could have taken a quick change to buy themselves some
:13:42. > :13:46.more time lost it was being loaded. But this is high-stakes poker and it
:13:47. > :13:56.is easy to look back and say what they should have done. Now they have
:13:57. > :13:58.two setback and be very sharp and be very sharp about what other
:13:59. > :14:14.opponents do -- they have two remember she failed 95 kilograms
:14:15. > :14:25.twice so this takes her up to 200. She weighed at 57.56 so she is
:14:26. > :14:27.heavier than Michaela Breeze. But this is the first step to get her to
:14:28. > :14:52.the platform to work from. Easily puts herself up to 200 but as
:14:53. > :15:03.you said she is heavier than Michaela. I just wonder how much she
:15:04. > :15:07.has got in the clean and jerk? This is the young women who injured
:15:08. > :15:15.herself in Delhi and had to pull out of the competition. She is four
:15:16. > :15:22.years old or stronger and wiser. And wants it all the more. In the
:15:23. > :15:35.Nigeria team they are all about success, you are expected. That is
:15:36. > :15:46.correct. 111 kilograms here. This would put her in third place. My
:15:47. > :15:53.advice to her as a coach would be wait for the 32nd buzzer to ring
:15:54. > :16:01.before you start lifting, it is very distracting when it goes off as it
:16:02. > :16:06.did in the middle of a lift. It might be that that failure may set
:16:07. > :16:19.her on course for another fourth-place finish.
:16:20. > :16:28.She is coming in at 111 rather than 112. I would not read too much into
:16:29. > :16:30.this but the stories we have heard, they suggest she is very good at
:16:31. > :16:46.this. That was an easy clean. That was quite a light for horror,
:16:47. > :16:53.as we have said in the past it is more of a challenge to come out at a
:16:54. > :16:59.light weight, because as soon as you come out give everything to it. At
:17:00. > :17:12.the moment she is eight kilograms down on Michaela Breeze, looking to
:17:13. > :17:17.come out and overtake that deficit. That is another advantage Michaela
:17:18. > :17:22.Breeze has, in a sense the kilograms she did not get by not putting it up
:17:23. > :17:28.to Mac kilograms she gets it back with the lighter body weight. If I
:17:29. > :17:34.was her I would be hoping that I could make these heavier weights
:17:35. > :17:41.whilst watching back these girls play out the clean and jerk.
:17:42. > :18:04.Power jerk. She has clearly got some back pain which may be why she chose
:18:05. > :18:07.to do the power jerk. Possible that getting into the splits position
:18:08. > :18:15.puts too much pressure on the lower back. That puts her three kilograms
:18:16. > :18:26.bank Michaela Breeze but once again she is that bit heavier, she needs
:18:27. > :18:36.four to go past the Welsh woman. Sorry Smith on 112 kilograms about
:18:37. > :18:49.to come out. -- Zoe Smith. She's bringing this out add to the 92 that
:18:50. > :18:50.she had from the snatch these -- snatch bays. This is first the
:18:51. > :19:00.shopping. Has a little look around. By the
:19:01. > :19:26.police. -- quiet please. Big relief. I would like to look at
:19:27. > :19:29.that again. I don't know if it is for a walk out but it looks
:19:30. > :19:49.questionable to me on the elbows. Little pat on the back for her
:19:50. > :20:01.there. Maybe shoulder movement again. I think shoulder movement,
:20:02. > :20:10.that was correctly called. Michaela Breeze has one attempt left, she has
:20:11. > :20:17.put it to 113. I think Zoe is very strong with the jerk, I think when
:20:18. > :20:25.you jerk awake to await with the most effort possible it comes out in
:20:26. > :20:30.the form of instability in the shoulders -- when you jerk a lighter
:20:31. > :20:47.weight with the most effort possible.
:20:48. > :20:55.What they are trying to do, the English camp are trying to persuade
:20:56. > :21:03.Michaela Breeze that she has got to come out. She needs to get this lift
:21:04. > :21:07.so that she can sit in the back and watch it play out on television and
:21:08. > :21:15.hope that the athletes are not able to surpass her. You have got to
:21:16. > :21:28.think about the challenger from India. This could be the lift which
:21:29. > :21:33.is the destiny of the competition. That is correct, it will decide
:21:34. > :21:48.everybody is next attempt. And it is a great clean.
:21:49. > :21:55.That is so frustrating because it is a weight that she has done this
:21:56. > :22:04.season. She cannot get the gold medal. She is currently in silver
:22:05. > :22:06.medal position. Zoe Smith is in gold and the Nigerian is currently in
:22:07. > :22:18.bronze. She said to me before the competition that she has done
:22:19. > :22:21.everything she can, no regrets or excuses, that is the best way
:22:22. > :22:28.everything she can, no regrets or come into a competition. There is no
:22:29. > :22:31.way you can save and lift, that is weightlifting, you
:22:32. > :22:38.way you can save and lift, that is going wrong but you have already
:22:39. > :22:46.pushed it in the wrong direction. If Michaela Breeze ends up on the
:22:47. > :22:47.podium and gets a silver or bronze, firmly that is effectively for
:22:48. > :23:05.horror. -- for me that is a firmly that is effectively for
:23:06. > :23:22.for her. She is on 200, so this five
:23:23. > :23:49.kilograms increase is to go ahead of Zoe Smith.
:23:50. > :24:07.Good clean. That changes things. Michaela is looking on and hoping,
:24:08. > :24:17.wondering, will the Nigerian make the next lift? I posed the question,
:24:18. > :24:24.how much more has she got, and it just seemed to me that the first one
:24:25. > :24:33.was good but not utterly convincing that she could go a long way into
:24:34. > :24:41.the competition. The Indian has gone to 116 which would put her at 199,
:24:42. > :24:49.she very possibly in this competition is going to have the
:24:50. > :24:55.last launch. Zoe Smith Israeli in the driver seat, putting the
:24:56. > :25:09.pressure on everyone else. -- Zoe Smith is really in.
:25:10. > :25:20.This to turn the screw on horror Nigerian and Indian opponents. Needs
:25:21. > :25:29.to take her time. There we go. Still very light in the jerk. Throwing the
:25:30. > :25:37.bar overhead no problem. This is where she loves to be. You can see
:25:38. > :25:39.Michaela Breeze back the congratulating her, again the sign
:25:40. > :25:48.of a true athlete, great sportsmanship. She finds herself
:25:49. > :25:59.equal to the Commonwealth Games record. She has a final attempt to
:26:00. > :26:05.go after that record. She is already the Commonwealth Games record holder
:26:06. > :26:07.as far as the total is concerned, and she will be so long as she holds
:26:08. > :26:28.off all our opponents. This is to take her to 204 which
:26:29. > :26:33.would eclipse Michaela Breeze and Bush are down to third place. --
:26:34. > :26:45.push her down. She has been waiting for a moment
:26:46. > :27:11.like this. For four years. It is not going to survive. So
:27:12. > :27:16.close. Holding the weight over her head for that long and not being
:27:17. > :27:36.able to secure it. That is heartbreaking. I feel so sorry for
:27:37. > :27:40.her. Thinking you have it in your hands, thinking you have made up for
:27:41. > :27:51.that disappointment or four years ago. Zoe Smith is alive, but have a
:27:52. > :28:04.look at this. She knew this was the moment. She is going for the
:28:05. > :28:12.Commonwealth record. And second place. She is going the silver and
:28:13. > :28:19.the Commonwealth Games record. The bar has gone up a kilo. Having a
:28:20. > :28:26.look at this, six kilos up. This is the 206. David, she is strong
:28:27. > :28:36.enough. My question is, does she think she can do this in this
:28:37. > :28:45.moment? And, she does. So, Nigeria go into second place. She takes the
:28:46. > :28:55.clean and jerk Commonwealth Games record. That record has been
:28:56. > :29:06.standing since 2002. Zoe Smith has one attempt left. But Meena Kumari
:29:07. > :29:12.has two. She is waiting to see what she has to do. She is sitting down
:29:13. > :29:17.at 190 four and what she is looking at is the bronze medal or the
:29:18. > :29:22.silver. If she is really bold, then the gold medal. She will be using
:29:23. > :29:28.those two attempts to get on the podium. This is the crucial lift the
:29:29. > :29:38.Zoe Smith to dishearten her Indian opponent? Yes, she basically has two
:29:39. > :29:44.aces up her sleeve right now. What have they done with Zoe? She is
:29:45. > :29:48.going for the record. She is not even trying to get on the podium
:29:49. > :29:57.with this lift. It would put her into fourth. Meena Kumari on the

:31:12. > :31:26.She might as well throw caution to the wind... That is exactly what she
:31:27. > :31:34.is going to do. Great coaching choice. She is going to go to 120.
:31:35. > :31:38.She is going to put nine kilos on. Because she is heavier than Michaela
:31:39. > :31:42.Breeze, she will try, Meena Kumari, with her last attempt to knock
:31:43. > :31:54.Michaela Breeze of the podium. Zoe Smith, nothing to lose. Never say

:31:58. > :32:08.comes and this is for five out of six. She is on a total of 207. Clean
:32:09. > :32:20.at 30 seconds. This audio icing on the cake... What a great way to
:32:21. > :32:33.finish the day. Three kilos more. Amazing. That take her to 210 kilos
:32:34. > :32:35.total. An eight K improvement. As far as the clean and jerk is
:32:36. > :32:43.concerned, it is a new record by three kilos. Zoe Smith comes off the

:38:02. > :38:08.and to think since Delhi she was badly injured, lost her funding and
:38:09. > :38:11.almost gave up. It is a huge boost, not only to her cabinet with her
:38:12. > :38:20.medals in it, but her confidence. We are going back to the boxing. The
:38:21. > :38:25.60 kilograms bout has the highly rated Mauritius, John Kalina and he
:38:26. > :38:48.will be taking on Nicholas Congo from Congo.
:38:49. > :39:00.Mexican wave here. Has been a terrific atmosphere also Shillong.
:39:01. > :39:24.But the boxers in the ring focused on the man in front of them.
:39:25. > :39:33.He is struggling a little bit. Mainly because he is too far out. He
:39:34. > :39:41.keeps falling short. If you watch the way he is boxing. That is
:39:42. > :39:51.batter. When he launches the attack from too far out, he falls short
:39:52. > :39:58.with the right. Has got to move into range. Target the right hand over
:39:59. > :40:25.the top. There you go. Midway through this second round. He is
:40:26. > :40:44.finding a home for the right hand now. Colleen has got things wrong,
:40:45. > :40:48.just held his feet. His feet are not moving at all. He is static. Against
:40:49. > :41:09.the man who just keeps coming forward. Good left hand on the
:41:10. > :41:24.inside once again. Nice right hand. Inside the final 20 seconds.
:41:25. > :41:36.Approaching the conclusion of this second round.
:41:37. > :41:46.Was a close round to score. I think the man in blue has just done enough
:41:47. > :41:53.to win that round. Both of them going for it. But the Kenyan, his
:41:54. > :42:05.feet are static and his guard is not backward. It is a good left hook and
:42:06. > :42:29.right-hand counter. Let's look at the scores. Just a rotten tactic
:42:30. > :42:54.there by Colin. Stands to trade. It is all square in this contest
:42:55. > :43:03.between John Carlin of Mauritius. Good left-hand from Okongo Okoth.
:43:04. > :43:08.John Coleen falling short with his work. Leaping left hook fell short
:43:09. > :43:23.from Okongo Okoth. Again John Coleen holding his feet
:43:24. > :43:29.and getting caught up. That is a bit better, was not too far away there.
:43:30. > :43:33.Okongo Okoth again gets through with the right hand. Just the wrong
:43:34. > :43:41.tactic by John Coleen, making it very difficult for himself, not
:43:42. > :43:56.maximising the Ricci has got. -- the reach he has got.
:43:57. > :44:01.Our lack of movement has really brought Okongo Okoth into this
:44:02. > :44:06.contest, he has taken full advantage. Continually aggressive
:44:07. > :44:23.and that right hand has been a profitable shop for him. There it is
:44:24. > :44:29.again -- profitable shot. He is leaning forward when he is throwing
:44:30. > :44:35.his shots and Okongo Okoth keeps coming with the right hand. Shorter
:44:36. > :44:46.man that he is having success. Another good one there. Shops being
:44:47. > :44:59.taken flush by John Coleen. -- shots.
:45:00. > :45:10.He is waiting for John Coleen to commit. John Coleen struggling to
:45:11. > :45:16.close the distance effectively. He's now back punching range once again.
:45:17. > :45:27.Good right uppercut from Okongo Okoth. This is close, this is close.
:45:28. > :45:33.Good left hook from John Coleen. Both boxers competing right up until
:45:34. > :45:36.the final bell. That is nice because they have tested one another to the
:45:37. > :45:44.limit during the course of that contest. John Coleen took the
:45:45. > :45:45.opening round, Okongo Okoth took the second, who has taken
:45:46. > :45:56.opening round, Okongo Okoth took the will place in the next round?
:45:57. > :46:04.Terrific last round by both boxers, giving their all. Bit scrappy here
:46:05. > :46:10.and there. Really taking risks. Okongo Okoth himself landed some
:46:11. > :46:12.good shots. Congratulating each other at the end of the contest,
:46:13. > :46:29.nice to see. Ladies and gentlemen we go to the
:46:30. > :46:36.judges, all in agreement, the winner by unanimous decision and through to
:46:37. > :46:46.the next round, in the blue corner, representing Kenya, Nicholas Okongo
:46:47. > :46:57.Okoth. Keep the applause going for John Coleen. So Nicholas Okongo
:46:58. > :47:01.Okoth goes through to the second round. He joins five other Kenyans
:47:02. > :47:06.who have made it through to that stage. John Coleen eliminated in the
:47:07. > :47:28.first round. It is a classically trained little
:47:29. > :47:38.number. Seven hills of Rome. Seven pillars of Wisdom. The seven wonders
:47:39. > :47:53.of the ancient world. This seven days of the week. It is a happy
:47:54. > :48:04.number. It can come with a menace or it can be magnificent. It is
:48:05. > :48:14.Renaldo. It is Beckham. It is a try plus conversion. Seven minutes each
:48:15. > :48:21.way. Seven players making sweet music knocking seven bells out of
:48:22. > :48:28.each other in order for 17 to be in seventh heaven. In the numbers game
:48:29. > :48:43.it is time to roll-out the sevens. We mentioned earlier that Skeet
:48:44. > :48:47.shooting was the quick relation to clay shooting and in that case rugby
:48:48. > :48:52.sevens must be the fast and furious brother of the 15 aside game. It is
:48:53. > :48:55.appropriate that it is one of the sports here at the Commonwealth
:48:56. > :49:03.Games, because this is the birthplace of the sport.
:49:04. > :49:10.Rugby is a hard game, not for the faint-hearted. In the Commonwealth
:49:11. > :49:14.Games it is made even harder with just seven players on the pitch.
:49:15. > :49:19.Rugby sevens is a truly international sport played all over
:49:20. > :49:26.the world. But it all began here in Melrose, a sleepy market town in the
:49:27. > :49:29.Scottish Borders. Rugby players are traditionally at a fee believed. So
:49:30. > :49:41.the genesis of the sevens game is particularly appropriate. -- a PC
:49:42. > :49:44.parade. I believe there is a connection between this picture is a
:49:45. > :49:51.connection between this pictures and sevens rugby? In 1883 two men who
:49:52. > :49:54.worked in the shop and played rugby down at Melrose decided to organise
:49:55. > :50:00.a rugby tournament shortened the game to seven minutes the half and
:50:01. > :50:06.with seven players so they could fit it all in one day. From its humble
:50:07. > :50:12.birth in the Scottish Borders the game 's popularity grew with fans
:50:13. > :50:18.and players. This fascinating game of seven aside rugby is becoming
:50:19. > :50:22.very popular. By the 1970s sevens was played internationally. Fans and
:50:23. > :50:33.players could not get enough of this game. Teams come from all over the
:50:34. > :50:40.world to play at Melrose. Coming from as far afield as the USA and
:50:41. > :50:50.Trinidad and Tobago. What is it about sevens that you love so much?
:50:51. > :50:58.The speed and the flair, everything. Over the 22, page two Hastings,
:50:59. > :51:06.magnificent support work. Everywhere you go everyone loves the sevens,
:51:07. > :51:10.the fitness of the players at the upper levels is to be admired. I
:51:11. > :51:20.think it is a box office sport going forward. Rugby sevens popularity is
:51:21. > :51:28.continuing to grow globally. It will be played at the 2016 Olympics by
:51:29. > :51:35.men and women, not bad for the sport invented by two butchers in the
:51:36. > :51:41.Borders. When it comes to rugby sevens New Zealand have never
:51:42. > :51:46.dropped a gold, they have never even dropped and match. But it does not
:51:47. > :51:59.deter the opposition and the England boys are hoping to steel the glory.
:52:00. > :52:07.You get found out in sevens if you have not prepared physically. It is
:52:08. > :52:11.a quicker game, quicker scoring. Players lighter because we cover
:52:12. > :52:23.more ground. A lot of change of direction. The type of competition
:52:24. > :52:27.is very different. We play back-to-back tournaments which is
:52:28. > :52:30.incredibly demanding mentally. You have to be able to switch off
:52:31. > :52:35.between games and then get back up for the next game. Six games over a
:52:36. > :52:42.weekend is physically and mentally demanding. All the skills are put
:52:43. > :52:45.under the microscope, it is a really easy game to understand with only
:52:46. > :52:49.seven people on the pitch. When I first took my wife she did not know
:52:50. > :52:53.much about rugby first took my wife she did not know
:52:54. > :52:58.and understood what was going on so hopefully a lot of people will enjoy
:52:59. > :53:05.the weekend. That is a great take but stumble from James Rodwell. I
:53:06. > :53:15.look back at Delhi and we came forth which is probably the worst place to
:53:16. > :53:18.finish. A lot of the guys out there it was our first experience of a
:53:19. > :53:24.multisport event. We have been working hard to get to Glasgow and
:53:25. > :53:27.have got a great group here. We have been training for it pretty hard.
:53:28. > :53:33.There is a lot of belief within the squad, we are confident in our
:53:34. > :53:41.ability, the season is finished and we can look back at what has worked
:53:42. > :53:50.and what hasn't. A lot of us now have got quite a lot of experience.
:53:51. > :54:01.That experience can count for a lot. We have been together for two or
:54:02. > :54:05.three years. Integrated pretty well. I think it is a big part of being
:54:06. > :54:13.able to trust the person either side of you. The goal is to always win
:54:14. > :54:18.every game, the goal is to win the Commonwealth Games. That is what we
:54:19. > :54:24.are working towards and I think if we have all our players on form and
:54:25. > :54:27.fit and everyone performing to their full potential then we have got
:54:28. > :54:34.every chance of winning this competition. Incredibly tough with
:54:35. > :54:39.New Zealand's who have won it every single time, South Africa bringing
:54:40. > :54:43.some superstars and Scotland bringing someone do a full
:54:44. > :54:48.internationals and playing at home. And not to mention Australia of
:54:49. > :54:52.course. Incredibly tough but I am confident if we get everyone playing
:54:53. > :54:59.to the full potential we have a chance of picking up gold.
:55:00. > :55:08.You can see behind me the weather has changed, it has not been dry at
:55:09. > :55:11.Ibrox but we have got a band of hardy men down there, John
:55:12. > :55:19.Inverdale, Andy Nicol and Jonathan Davies. You have come prepared
:55:20. > :55:25.Inverdale, Andy Nicol and Jonathan the change of weather which is more
:55:26. > :55:28.than we can say here. We had a fantastic session this morning with
:55:29. > :55:34.the sun beating down and a wonderful atmosphere. It ended with some
:55:35. > :55:36.controversy, a fantastic match with Scotland being beaten by New
:55:37. > :55:40.Zealand, New Zealand had Scotland being beaten by New
:55:41. > :55:44.in the sin bin and everyone thought that meant that Scotland had a great
:55:45. > :55:49.chance of winning and a lot of people, not least Gavin Hastings
:55:50. > :55:51.felt that one of the New Zealand players who had been sent off was
:55:52. > :55:59.felt that one of the New Zealand allowed back on the field 20 seconds
:56:00. > :56:03.too soon. Scotland did not protest it but they have issued a statement
:56:04. > :56:08.saying people make mistakes, but it might have had a bearing on the
:56:09. > :56:12.game? Lahm it might have done, but I like how the coach has drawn a line
:56:13. > :56:16.under it and moved on. The problem was they did not win the kick-off
:56:17. > :56:24.and gave away a penalty and that is more their own doing. It is a big
:56:25. > :56:29.mistake, 20 seconds is a long time, Scotland had a ball in the line-out,
:56:30. > :56:33.it could have been a crucial 20 seconds. It was a fantastic
:56:34. > :56:37.opportunity for Scotland to win the match and inflict a first ever
:56:38. > :56:42.defeat in New Zealand. That would have taken the pressure of Scotland
:56:43. > :56:46.going into the Canada game. The first match is going to be Scotland
:56:47. > :56:50.against Barbados, Scotland against Canada looks like being the decisive
:56:51. > :56:58.match for second place in the script. This game is about going
:56:59. > :57:01.through the systems and structures. Scotland did not have the ball in
:57:02. > :57:04.the first half against New Zealand and played really well in the second
:57:05. > :57:12.half, they will be looking to build on that to build into the game
:57:13. > :57:17.against Canada. I felt like New Zealand played as a team and
:57:18. > :57:22.Scotland played as individuals. I think they have got to speed up the
:57:23. > :57:27.game. They were slowing down, kicking into touch, we did not
:57:28. > :57:30.understand the tactics. Scotland need to play with pace because they
:57:31. > :57:36.have got a lot of very fast players in the side. A lot of you watching
:57:37. > :57:40.will not be students of the sevens game, these guys are on the
:57:41. > :57:45.international circuit week after week for certain periods of the year
:57:46. > :57:50.but there will be unfamiliar names, except for perhaps Stewart Hogg
:57:51. > :57:56.playing for Scotland, how much of a talisman is he? He has been brought
:57:57. > :58:01.in without much, even though he is from height, he has not played a lot
:58:02. > :58:18.of sevens but we saw in the first game he has got the spark.
:58:19. > :58:27.We have got some fantastic matches tonight, England against Australia.
:58:28. > :58:51.But we are starting here with Scotland against Barbados.
:58:52. > :59:05.Taken by Vernon. He had a quiet game against New Zealand. Lee Jones. Two
:59:06. > :59:11.tries from the man born in Selkirk and played the Selkirk. Two tries
:59:12. > :59:19.against New Zealand. Richie Vernon on the far outside. Sean Ward back
:59:20. > :59:27.with the tackle. Recycle possession from Scott Riddell. Has young Mark
:59:28. > :59:33.Bennett, makes a lovely stab. Mark Bennett is under the post for
:59:34. > :59:36.Scotland. 45 seconds on the clock and that is the kind of start he did
:59:37. > :59:43.not get against New Zealand. The ideal start taken. Distribution of
:59:44. > :59:53.the players is very good. We see good coverage across the field. It
:59:54. > :59:58.is those individual clashes, way too much power and speed for this
:59:59. > :00:03.Barbados side to live with. A well taken try by Mark Bennett. Mark
:00:04. > :00:14.Bennett was on Scotland's recent tour. Test matches played across the
:00:15. > :00:34.globe. He was very impressive on his performances. 21-year-old. Advantage
:00:35. > :00:48.being played by the referee. Quick tap and go. Richard Vernon down the
:00:49. > :00:53.middle. Disappointing penalty for the Scottish side, who were in a
:00:54. > :01:04.very good attacking side entry position. Sean English released the
:01:05. > :01:11.ball. Challenged by Lee Jones on the far side. Barbados recycling the
:01:12. > :01:27.possession well. If that ball had been taken, recycled. Scotland are
:01:28. > :01:31.pressing up in defence. Scotland, in white shirts are trying to put
:01:32. > :01:39.pressure on this Barbados team. Barbados break through the middle.
:01:40. > :01:48.Colin Gregor is back with the tackle. He has made it. Excellent
:01:49. > :01:56.ball retention. Sean English, the 26-year-old. Played in
:01:57. > :02:04.Northumberland. The advantage has been played, I think. Scott Wight
:02:05. > :02:15.was offside. Excellent passage of lay-by Barbados. Excellent ball
:02:16. > :02:24.retention. -- passage of play. Big tackle came in. Colin Gregor picks
:02:25. > :02:36.up. Roddy Grant. Takes it up to the halfway line. Needs to off-load the
:02:37. > :02:46.ball here. Contact is absolutely crucial in terms of ball retention.
:02:47. > :02:57.Scott Riddell is down for Scotland. Just coming back into the action.
:02:58. > :03:08.The interception was there. Canada put 68 points and it is the clock
:03:09. > :03:22.going down quickly and it is only 70 macro. We have had a couple of
:03:23. > :03:31.sweeping showers. Chants for Scotland to go here from the free
:03:32. > :03:47.kick. Mark Bennett. Lee Jones. Lee Jones gets tackled on the far side.
:03:48. > :03:54.Vernon to grant. That tackle comes in from Nicholas Jackman for
:03:55. > :04:06.Barbados. Can Scotland make it? Lee Jones? Lee Jones, scores another
:04:07. > :04:09.try. He goes to the top of the best performer is with ten tries in all
:04:10. > :04:20.competitions in the Commonwealth Games. Width about the play again.
:04:21. > :04:25.Was enough to bring the defence out of line. Lee Jones goes in for the
:04:26. > :04:35.try. 12/0 up with the conversion to come. They have got to have a lot of
:04:36. > :04:43.more urgency about them. I think that is what the coach is calling
:04:44. > :04:50.for. Good control by Jones with the ball on the floor, great awareness.
:04:51. > :05:07.Lee Jones, the 25-year-old scored seven tries in Delhi. This is three
:05:08. > :05:20.in his home tournament. Referee saying Lou number three touched it.
:05:21. > :05:27.In an offside position. -- blue number three. Good play. Jones with
:05:28. > :05:32.another double. Young Mark Bennett created the opportunity for the
:05:33. > :05:41.second try for Lee Jones. Strong, powerful play from Mark Bennett.
:05:42. > :05:46.Forget the handoff, it is the work and ability to create the quick
:05:47. > :05:54.ball. That makes the difference for the incoming players. Pretty good
:05:55. > :06:02.comeback after a disappointing middle patch during the first half.
:06:03. > :06:21.Half time score, three converted tries for Scotland.
:06:22. > :06:28.They are trying to score every time they get the ball. They have to use
:06:29. > :06:34.the whole width of the field otherwise the defenders will be hard
:06:35. > :06:40.to break down. If you are tackled, you have got to get support in
:06:41. > :06:43.quicker. But you have to play with which and use all of the space
:06:44. > :06:58.available. You saw the third try from Lee Jones. Soak the defence in.
:06:59. > :07:04.Recycle all. If you play with power, the wider of the gaps, you have a
:07:05. > :07:12.one on one situation and enhances the ball carrier's chances of
:07:13. > :07:20.beating the player. The minnows, if we can call Barbados that, with
:07:21. > :07:31.every match they will get tired? Yes they will. They are trying their
:07:32. > :07:35.heart out. They have had some exciting chances. But the Scotland
:07:36. > :07:37.in the second half, they will want to do as much as they can without
:07:38. > :07:38.exerting too much energy. Use the bench. But there will always be some
:07:39. > :07:40.its matches in this competition. When we get through to the
:07:41. > :07:47.qualifying stages, it will be serious. It is about getting your
:07:48. > :07:59.game in good order and going through to the important matches. 21 to the
:08:00. > :08:04.good, Scotland at half-time. Scotland well on their way to
:08:05. > :08:09.winning and then they play Canada. That it will no doubt be for the
:08:10. > :08:13.qualification. While we might be making the point about the amount of
:08:14. > :08:19.points Scotland need to score in this type, we would have to get our
:08:20. > :08:24.calculators out for that one. Let's just enjoy the action and what
:08:25. > :08:34.Scotland can do in the second half. Can Barbados respond? Scott Wight.
:08:35. > :08:45.Used to play his club be for Melrose. He captains Glasgow
:08:46. > :08:50.Warriors in 2007. He has lifted the cup in Melrose. Both for his club
:08:51. > :08:55.team and his professional club team, the Glasgow Warriors. Great
:08:56. > :09:09.awareness by Sean Lamont. Very powerful. Took it on quickly. Simple
:09:10. > :09:15.drawing pass. Nice finish and nice con version. For converted tries for
:09:16. > :09:29.Scotland. The scoreline merging along. Colin Gregor is Scotland's
:09:30. > :09:44.all-time points scorer. Lots of respect for the skipper.
:09:45. > :09:55.Stuart Hogg knocks the ball on. He was sent off in the Six Nations in
:09:56. > :10:00.the match against Wales. This is his is debuting the Commonwealth Games.
:10:01. > :10:15.He has played in a few tournaments for Scotland. James Eddie is on in
:10:16. > :10:24.the front row. Colin Gregor tries to spoil the possession for Barbados.
:10:25. > :10:46.The ball was played on the deck. The tap and go from Sean Lamont.
:10:47. > :10:55.Number one the James Eddie, the strong flanker. Poor entry from
:10:56. > :10:59.Philip Lucas. If Barbados keep... Conceding penalties like that, maybe
:11:00. > :11:06.the referee will think about a yellow card? Colin Gregor taps and
:11:07. > :11:12.goes. Little switch plate, wraparound move for Sean Lamont.
:11:13. > :11:20.Simple tried. Simple but well constructed. All about timing. These
:11:21. > :11:23.are rehearsed all the time. Two players switch to
:11:24. > :11:31.are rehearsed all the time. Two the left and the big man goes over
:11:32. > :11:40.unopposed. Too easy for Sean Lamont. Sean Lamont is Scotland's second

:12:12. > :12:18.collapsing the rock. Colin Gregor asking that the Barbados team retire
:12:19. > :12:29.to their ten metres. Again, another switch play. Well tackled on this
:12:30. > :12:39.occasion by Niko Blunt. James Eddie. Scott White, to Colin Gregor.
:12:40. > :12:43.James Johnstone bumps the legs. Johnson shows the ball and James
:12:44. > :12:52.Johnson runs low. He skips in behind the post. A great try by James
:12:53. > :13:02.Johnstone. He has a low centre of gravity and his little legs go
:13:03. > :13:06.thumping away. Running in and finishing off the play, great work
:13:07. > :13:10.off the ball by the Scottish team on this occasion, the ability to
:13:11. > :13:18.reload, set the depth and width of the attacking line. Really was about
:13:19. > :13:28.taking on the one on one again, just too strong and fast. Six tries for
:13:29. > :13:41.the Scotland team. Still two minutes to go. No corn from Barbados. --
:13:42. > :13:46.knock-on. Much better second half display from the Scottish side, been
:13:47. > :13:49.really impressed with the energy levels, I thought they were a bit
:13:50. > :13:54.flat in the first half, really starting to look like they can
:13:55. > :13:55.impose themselves on a team which is still trying new must say, but is
:13:56. > :14:23.very much up against it. We had such great sunny conditions
:14:24. > :14:34.here this morning and it really set the tournament alight. Stewart Hogg
:14:35. > :14:44.skips and under the posts. That is the class of this player, an
:14:45. > :14:45.international fifteens star. Using the sevens circuit to refind his
:14:46. > :15:02.form and there it is. Very talented footballer. It has
:15:03. > :15:10.been very comprehensive and from Scotland, it has been clinical.
:15:11. > :15:18.Awareness, handoff, strength, speed, he has it all. Scotland with
:15:19. > :15:25.one opportunity to score a final try. Love the urgency there to get
:15:26. > :15:31.the scrum set so they can get one last play. This is what it is all
:15:32. > :15:34.about, I think the coach will be delighted with this, they have gone
:15:35. > :15:45.out and take on the second half by the scruff of the neck. You are too
:15:46. > :16:01.low from the start. Crouch. Bind. Sect. Colin Gregor feeds the scrum.
:16:02. > :16:09.This is James Johnson. Scott Wight hits the angle, up over the have we
:16:10. > :16:20.line go Scotland. Side entry coming in from the wrong angle, Barbados
:16:21. > :16:28.penalise. This is James Eddie. Has the support of Scott Wight. This is
:16:29. > :16:31.Colin Shaw, one of Aust experienced members of the Scotland team, he
:16:32. > :16:39.scores with his first touch of the ball. -- one of the most
:16:40. > :16:45.experienced. This man was born in Glasgow, played for the Glasgow
:16:46. > :16:54.Hawks. Does very well in this situation here. Good discipline here
:16:55. > :16:58.from the Scottish side. That was a critical performance, well deserved
:16:59. > :17:06.victory and a well taken victory, really put Barbados to the sword. A
:17:07. > :17:10.lot of local support for the most experienced player, one of the most

:17:24. > :17:30.An emphatic victory for Scotland as you can see from the scoreline as
:17:31. > :17:31.the rain continues to fall, the second half markedly improved.
:17:32. > :17:38.the rain continues to fall, the think they will be happy,

:18:28. > :18:33.incredible. brilliant, the atmosphere is
:18:34. > :18:41.home crowd like that is really special. What are your reflections
:18:42. > :18:45.on the match against New Zealand? Frustrating, we gave them too much
:18:46. > :18:47.of a lead, 17 points against the best team in the world is too hard
:18:48. > :18:57.to come back from. But we ran best team in the world is too hard
:18:58. > :19:04.close. The Canada game will be the decisive one, anything to tweak? I
:19:05. > :19:13.think we showed we were clinical with our basic skills, carried that
:19:14. > :19:20.on and we should do well. England next against Uganda. When we saw
:19:21. > :19:24.Uganda play earlier you observed that of all the second-tier nations
:19:25. > :19:31.they seem to have the most about them in terms of skills and
:19:32. > :19:36.potential. Yes, there is no way they will beat England, but they seemed
:19:37. > :19:42.that bit more drilled, they understood it, they coped with that.
:19:43. > :19:47.The Gulf is often the physicality, these England boys will blow them
:19:48. > :19:56.away, but Uganda were able to hold their own wee bit in the first game.
:19:57. > :19:59.These are kept amps for the tier one nations to get themselves ready --
:20:00. > :20:38.these are hit outs. England are win away from booking
:20:39. > :20:47.their place in the quarterfinals. They have to go again. A little bit
:20:48. > :20:53.too keen. I think they were buoyed on by the crowd, got a fabulous
:20:54. > :20:56.reception in the first game, but they will need a lot to help them
:20:57. > :21:19.here. So impressive in their opening match
:21:20. > :21:22.and here they are five hours later, one more effectively and they will
:21:23. > :21:28.be into the knockout stages. Very powerful run from Charlie Hater
:21:29. > :21:40.driving up towards halfway. Taken on by Dan Bibby, the fly half. Tom
:21:41. > :21:53.Powell there as well. Going to have to play with six players because
:21:54. > :21:56.they have a man down on halfway. The England assistant sitting alongside
:21:57. > :22:26.the main man, Simon a more. Twinkling toes. He knows what his
:22:27. > :22:28.ability can do, he has the speed and the power to take him through it,
:22:29. > :22:43.very well taken try. That really was a flash of flawless
:22:44. > :22:50.and Wayne Green books, it was a lying green blah.
:22:51. > :22:56.Very athletic, very strong footballer but very balanced in his
:22:57. > :23:00.running as well. You can see why they made the short list to be
:23:01. > :23:11.Player of the Season last season. They are very good kick chase side,
:23:12. > :23:42.one the strengths. The big issue for him back home is
:23:43. > :23:45.the quality of the playing surfaces, they are developing it in schools
:23:46. > :23:58.but it is difficult to do when surfaces are so poor. All teams
:23:59. > :24:09.giving it a real justice here today. It has been cracking stuff. So far
:24:10. > :24:19.Uganda have been fooled offensive mode -- infill defensive mode -- in
:24:20. > :24:41.full. This is Dan Bibby. Rodwell over the
:24:42. > :24:49.top looking for it. England can go quickly. Does not score because
:24:50. > :25:00.there was a penalty not going the requisite ten metres. Brings it back
:25:01. > :25:08.for the advantage. Another chance for a set play, they will take it
:25:09. > :25:17.back and extra couple of metres. See what they have got up their sleeve
:25:18. > :25:24.this time. The chosen option was James Rodwell. It is about movement
:25:25. > :25:31.off the ball again. Mitchell 's awareness, runners of the ball
:25:32. > :25:36.catching the eyes of the defender and when you have got Rodwell coming
:25:37. > :25:42.through, six foot five coming through he is not going to be
:25:43. > :25:47.stopped from that range. What do you make of the way that Tom Mitchell
:25:48. > :25:53.does that, we saw him doing it a lot against Sri Lanka, instead of being
:25:54. > :26:01.sideways, it is a really unusual position. It is the ideal position
:26:02. > :26:07.for attacking. You have the ability to play both ways. He takes the
:26:08. > :26:11.speed out of it and tries to bring him out of the defensive line. If
:26:12. > :26:27.you are not disciplined it is going to happen. Quality piece of play,
:26:28. > :26:29.quality footballer. England leading with tries from Tom Mitchell and
:26:30. > :26:59.James Rodwell. They will want to get at least one
:27:00. > :27:06.score before half-time here England to really confirm their dominance in
:27:07. > :27:12.the first half. It is all about execution from the coaching staff I
:27:13. > :27:18.am sure, and the players are like. Here is a man who does not need much
:27:19. > :27:23.of a gap to go through. That was pace and that was agility, how on
:27:24. > :27:30.earth did she do that? Almost as if we are in the gymnastics hall. I am
:27:31. > :27:51.not certain he got the ball down. They want to have a look at the
:27:52. > :27:56.referee reviewing system. It was the intelligence of the player. He knew
:27:57. > :28:03.he was going into touch, slowed himself down. Got back up to his
:28:04. > :28:10.feet, no problem there. Great referee and because he called it
:28:11. > :28:15.right. His legs were up in the air. Sliding in there. No try. Superb
:28:16. > :28:28.refereeing. Benefit of the reviewing Sliding in there. No try. Superb
:28:29. > :28:33.system. Can only you be used to see it a try has been scored. It is a
:28:34. > :28:43.good thing because we don't need these long delays. Two pieces of
:28:44. > :28:51.excellence. Very nearly from Dan Norton. Absolutely from the referee.
:28:52. > :28:53.He was spot on. The man with just two tries in the bank, as we bear
:28:54. > :29:02.down on half-time. Just missed two tries in the bank, as we bear
:29:03. > :29:09.on a medal in Delhi, were beaten to the bronze medal by South Africa.
:29:10. > :29:17.Should they win this, and see how the other results pan out, they will
:29:18. > :29:25.play in the quarterfinals tomorrow, either Samoa or Wales. Last chance
:29:26. > :29:39.for a try before half-time. Taken by Tom Mitchell. Well taken try. Just
:29:40. > :29:46.look at the role of the referee in blocking the defender. Opened up a
:29:47. > :29:55.gap and Tom Mitchell saw it. He ran into the referee's zone. It was a
:29:56. > :30:02.great spots, and it would have been a big decision for the referee to
:30:03. > :30:08.disallow two England tries. I agree. England will be happy with their
:30:09. > :30:15.lead at half-time. But just in case you think that seven aside rub is
:30:16. > :30:20.freefall and off-the-cuff and not regimented, if we look at the first
:30:21. > :30:26.England tried. It is almost like a doubles match in turn is where
:30:27. > :30:31.signals are being given. Everybody knows what moves. Tom Mitchell is
:30:32. > :30:36.telling everybody what is happening. It is a very systemised born? What
:30:37. > :30:42.ever that signalmen 's, they will have split the pitch into three
:30:43. > :30:48.thirds asked to come -- as to whether it was going long or hide.
:30:49. > :30:54.In this rugby, you kick off once you score, so you want to get the ball
:30:55. > :31:02.back as soon as possible. Usually do kick goes to James Rodwell. He
:31:03. > :31:06.usually takes the restart. But the main player is Tom Mitchell. He
:31:07. > :31:13.slows the pace down, and it is a bit like Rod really because he is
:31:14. > :31:19.holding and has a couple of runners coming off him. They are trying to
:31:20. > :31:22.work out in their heads, to get ready for the big game against
:31:23. > :31:31.Australia. This is what this is all about and get their systems up and
:31:32. > :31:32.running. Uganda did score a try against Australia earlier, can they
:31:33. > :32:01.break their duck against England? Rodwell was there very quickly. But
:32:02. > :32:07.Uganda come away with Wokorach. They have a national 15 aside team
:32:08. > :32:15.playing in the Africa cup. Suffered narrow defeats to Senegal and the
:32:16. > :32:21.Ivory Coast. It is still an amateur game and they are covering their own
:32:22. > :32:25.expenses here in Glasgow. The money they should have received to go into
:32:26. > :32:31.their bank accounts, did not turn up. So they are having to pay their
:32:32. > :32:36.own way in Glasgow this weekend. But they are more than holding their
:32:37. > :32:43.own. England are having to think very hard to break them down. That
:32:44. > :32:52.was taken on quickly by Charlie Hater. Good work. Bibby on the try
:32:53. > :33:03.from Rodwell. Initial thrust down the middle. Then the scope and the
:33:04. > :33:10.vision to see what was happening. It was a finish and the outside, like
:33:11. > :33:18.the change of play. Dan Bibby did extremely well. James Rodwell did
:33:19. > :33:23.not move away from his own and new word the play was moving back to.
:33:24. > :33:30.England are very well disciplined. You have to be impressed. First game
:33:31. > :33:39.out, I was very impressed. Beautiful conversion from the sideline from
:33:40. > :33:47.Christian Lewis-Pratt. We talk all the time about seven being a game of
:33:48. > :33:52.space. The key for playmakers like Christian Lewis-Pratt and Tom
:33:53. > :33:58.Mitchell, you have got to pick the moment to use it and profit from it?
:33:59. > :34:02.It is so right. How you run into the space, running across crossfield to
:34:03. > :34:09.get into the space and if the players take up the width early, it
:34:10. > :34:38.is about straight running. It allows them options across the park. Bibby.
:34:39. > :34:56.He was a good player, Simon Amour. Did you play with him? No, I show my
:34:57. > :35:10.age here. I had retired, moved on. What can Uganda offer vesture Mark
:35:11. > :35:22.Pariyo was chasing his own kick but Debbie scoops it up. This is Debbie,
:35:23. > :35:30.one man to beat. That was a very good piece of defensive work from
:35:31. > :35:38.Wokorach. As a result, Uganda on the attack with Wokorach. In its own
:35:39. > :35:45.little way it was almost their best moments so far. It was, and the
:35:46. > :35:52.crowd are appreciating it as well. I am sure they appreciate the display
:35:53. > :36:00.from the English side, but I am sure they would love to see Uganda
:36:01. > :36:05.running for a five pointer at some point. You have got to work on both
:36:06. > :36:25.sides of the ball in this game. England working hard to get back and
:36:26. > :36:32.force the error again. Ramathan heading towards the scrum. James
:36:33. > :36:36.Rodwell has done his work, as have James Norton. They will be saving
:36:37. > :36:52.their lungs for the big one against Australia. Marcus Watson has come
:36:53. > :37:01.on. This is Mike Ellery. Big man with big hair. Forced his way into
:37:02. > :37:07.Uganda's 22. As a result, he wins the penalty. He is saying good
:37:08. > :37:20.writer sevens this weekend becomes a 15 aside player on Monday and
:37:21. > :37:24.joining Saracens. England setting up their set play and getting the
:37:25. > :37:33.players in the right area. Release pass out of the back. Great feeds.
:37:34. > :37:41.Little bit of juggling. Managed to find his way out. I want to have a
:37:42. > :37:54.look at the replay. He slid in and found the try line. I am pretty sure
:37:55. > :37:58.his foot was in touch. Having a lot but touch.
:37:59. > :38:10.his foot was in touch. Having a lot The referee video review again.
:38:11. > :38:28.Watch his left leg. He is out of the swimming pool. Pretty sure he was in
:38:29. > :38:32.touch. Only half of his arm in the field of play! It was outstanding
:38:33. > :38:34.play in the build-up again by England. Only four years ago England
:38:35. > :38:37.were beating Uganda 55-0. So some improvement by the Africans. The
:38:38. > :38:43.reason the line-out could not be taken as because they are waiting
:38:44. > :38:46.for a substitute. The third Commonwealth Games for the Africans

:38:57. > :39:04.and a repeat of the pool they had in Lanka. Spelling around dangerously
:39:05. > :39:08.there. Christian Lewis-Pratt back inside his own territory, but not
:39:09. > :39:29.for long. Quickly threatening inside Ugandan territory. The tackle was
:39:30. > :39:44.very important from Ssebuliba. The Ugandans are scrapping for
:39:45. > :39:48.everything. Ellery has scored. Final weekend and one of his final tries
:39:49. > :39:58.in rub Rhys Evans. Lots of hard work. Watson did the initial work
:39:59. > :40:07.and presented the ball very nicely. Ugandans defence was stretched. Slow
:40:08. > :40:11.walk back to the way to prepare all the restart. Ellery showed a lot of
:40:12. > :40:24.power in the earlier play. Was an easy run in for the big man. Final
:40:25. > :40:27.half a minute of what has been another satisfying England
:40:28. > :40:35.performance. I am sure Simon a more will find things to work on. It is

:41:38. > :41:43.Very well finished. I felt the past wasn't needed. But at this point in
:41:44. > :41:46.the game, he has the power to take it through the straight line.
:41:47. > :41:53.Another very good victory for England. They have got their big
:41:54. > :42:03.game to come against Australia, but they are into the quarterfinals
:42:04. > :42:08.already. Two games played, two wins. Good point Nick Mullins made about
:42:09. > :42:16.the pitch, it is in great condition. 100,000 tickets sold for the road be
:42:17. > :42:19.today. It is fantastic? It is amazing. Ibrox is hosting well and
:42:20. > :42:24.the crowd is getting into it. This is a different audience to the rugby
:42:25. > :42:30.crowd you will get at Murrayfield. It is such a spot to pulp.
:42:31. > :42:34.Conclusive victory for England and Wales are on the field, what do you
:42:35. > :42:39.think about Wales against Papa New Guinea? Should be a bit tougher.
:42:40. > :42:44.Their big game is some hour. Very impressed with England, the
:42:45. > :42:52.defensive line speed was very good and their kick chase was good. The
:42:53. > :42:56.intensity, will raise as they go into the latter stage of the
:42:57. > :42:59.tournament. But this is for Wales is to get their structures and partners
:43:00. > :43:05.right. Williams is there playing for Wales. Couple of youngsters. It is a
:43:06. > :43:11.game Wales should win comfortably as well. With the third match of the
:43:12. > :43:25.evening, it is Wales against Papa New Guinea. COMMENTATOR: Quickly
:43:26. > :43:37.taken by Williams. Into Davis. There is space on the left-hand side. The
:43:38. > :43:47.referee quite happy with that. Good step up through the middle. Tackle
:43:48. > :43:56.by Lee Williams. Maybe diminutive in stature but certainly the heart of a
:43:57. > :44:11.Lion. I am joined on commentary by Scott Hastings. I game that Wales
:44:12. > :44:21.will be looking to win? Yes. But Papa New Guinea started to find
:44:22. > :44:28.their feet in the last match. Williams looking down the blindside.
:44:29. > :44:36.Morgan is over for the first try of the game. The blindside to reap the
:44:37. > :44:42.rewards for Williams in the first game and the scrum-half carrying on
:44:43. > :44:52.where he left off. He controls the ball so well, it was just good
:44:53. > :44:56.footwork here by Luke Morgan. Not to be disrespectful to some of the
:44:57. > :44:59.teams but we have seen a lot of tries scored down the blindside
:45:00. > :45:07.because the defensive effort has not been good enough. That was like one
:45:08. > :45:14.of my golf shots. That is not one of his normal kicks, but Wales are on
:45:15. > :45:17.the board. Scored a try against Malaysia and has now doubled his
:45:18. > :45:31.total with one against Papua New Guinea. Nothing that Peter could do
:45:32. > :45:33.about that. The Keck not going the requisite ten metres so Papa New
:45:34. > :45:35.Guinea have an opportunity to take the free kick on the halfway line.
:45:36. > :45:59.-- they kept. Wales just happy to press up. Lovely
:46:00. > :46:17.little step from Peter. Huge ball in the middle. Williams. Into midfield.
:46:18. > :46:21.Just patients from Wales. Little basketball hands. It is Thomas, the
:46:22. > :46:33.captain who off-loads to Davis. Morgan again. Cover tackle comes
:46:34. > :46:40.across. Does well to ride it, goes over for his second try. Great hands
:46:41. > :46:50.on the far side, Luke Morgan had a lot of work to do, despite the
:46:51. > :47:03.attentions, I love the way Wales where patient on the ball. Working
:47:04. > :47:14.the overlap. Davis then, from wide out. Just shading the outside of the
:47:15. > :47:21.right-hand upright. Wales with two tries from that man Luke Morgan.
:47:22. > :47:23.Good pass and you felt at that stage that the try saving tackle might be
:47:24. > :48:02.made, but unable to do so. The Welsh line standing fairly
:48:03. > :48:12.firm. No corn from Papa New Guinea. -- knock-on. I like to call that the
:48:13. > :48:19.press defence, because it is about working with each other, every time
:48:20. > :48:25.Uganda have got the ball Wales have been right up in the faeces and
:48:26. > :48:38.forced the mistake. -- right up in the faces. Morgan does exceptionally
:48:39. > :48:46.well to take that. Had a good pick-up from Gareth Davies off his
:48:47. > :48:49.toes. Williams dancing around. Ball out through the back to Morgan and
:48:50. > :49:04.it is going to be one of the quickest tricks you will see. --
:49:05. > :49:09.quickest hat tricks. The playmaker from Wales unleashed a Luke Morgan,
:49:10. > :49:16.that was superb play by Lee Williams, the 27-year-old
:49:17. > :49:21.scrum-half. Williams is a very experienced campaigner. One of the
:49:22. > :49:34.only survivors from the 2009 World Cup victory by Wales. Wales opening
:49:35. > :49:42.up a 17 point lead. This is the last game of the group for Papua New
:49:43. > :49:52.Guinea. Lost to Samoa and beat Malaysia. Another high, hanging
:49:53. > :49:59.Guinea. Lost to Samoa and beat kick. That man Williams in the box
:50:00. > :50:12.seat. The Gareth Davies. Little step. Looks to straighten up. The
:50:13. > :50:15.route to his namesake James Davis. Spell of the ball as the hooter
:50:16. > :50:22.goes. This will Spell of the ball as the hooter
:50:23. > :50:26.the game. Of the first half. Wales pretty pleased with that. You could
:50:27. > :50:41.say the games first half? Feeds through the legs this time.
:50:42. > :50:50.Little inside ball. Williams stands firm, takes the tackle.
:50:51. > :51:06.Press and again from Wales. Wild ball out. Plenty of effort from Papa
:51:07. > :51:13.New Guinea but ball out. Plenty of effort from Papa
:51:14. > :51:18.forward. There is an opportunity here, can he go all the way?
:51:19. > :51:24.Williams is chasing him and makes the tackle. The ball is still in
:51:25. > :51:31.play. Over the line now, the referee calls time on the first half and
:51:32. > :51:39.Wales go into the break 17 points to the good.
:51:40. > :51:43.Big takes an alley to that first half, Wales 17 points up and
:51:44. > :52:03.comfortable? -- ager Matic they are in front, and cruising.
:52:04. > :52:32.Your favourite song is on the tannoy.
:52:33. > :52:43.I am not sure if it is a hit in Papa New Guinea. Are you saying Neil
:52:44. > :52:49.Diamond does not have global appeal? Wales in this game here, very front
:52:50. > :52:55.conditions to the earlier game they are having to adapt. We don't know
:52:56. > :53:01.what the weather is going to be light for the rest of this evening
:53:02. > :53:08.so I don't think it is disappointing. They will try to
:53:09. > :53:19.avoid the physicality in the Samoa Mac game. Something I meant to say
:53:20. > :53:27.during the England and Uganda game is that some guys in that game came
:53:28. > :53:33.to this country eight years ago with a charity which brings disadvantaged
:53:34. > :53:39.children to overhear and play rugby, and here they wear eight years later
:53:40. > :53:45.playing at Ibrox in front of 30,000 people for the national sevens
:53:46. > :53:50.team, a fantastic moment for them. When Neil Diamond has had enough we
:53:51. > :54:06.will have the second half. Here we go. COMMENTATOR: Thomas, the
:54:07. > :54:10.captain. Lovely inside ball. Play on says the referee. An opportunity for
:54:11. > :54:36.Peter. Off-loads. Where is your money Scott? I am
:54:37. > :54:47.going to see it again. This is what the referee wants to see. Looking a
:54:48. > :54:54.little short. It is tight isn't it? He can reach out and try and place
:54:55. > :55:07.it, but the referee... That is it, short. No try, knock-on. The crowd
:55:08. > :55:19.not happy with that but I think it is the correct decision. Yes, it is.
:55:20. > :55:21.But still a great effort. Lovely attack from Papa New Guinea.
:55:22. > :55:45.Splitting the Welsh defence. Williams chooses the boot this
:55:46. > :55:56.time. Williams up chasing his own tech,
:55:57. > :56:01.forcing the tackle. Williams up chasing his own tech, --
:56:02. > :56:19.kick. Lovely off-loads. Really proving to
:56:20. > :57:51.be a pawn in the Welsh defence. I good steel from Wales.
:57:52. > :57:54.packed evening session at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Tonight we are
:57:55. > :57:58.in the pool and on the pitch for swimming and the rugby sevens,
:57:59. > :58:02.which, if you didn't know, originated 70 miles away from here
:58:03. > :58:12.in Melrose. So a strong Scottish theme again tonight. The referee
:58:13. > :58:17.Colin for time. Several players making changes. Wayne Proctor in the
:58:18. > :58:28.foreground. The former winger for Wales. And the try scorer takes a
:58:29. > :58:35.well-deserved break. Luke Morgan, he has also gone off. He scored a
:58:36. > :58:41.hat-trick in the first half. The try scorers for Wales are off the pitch.
