:00:00. > :00:09.who is the flag bearer for the Cayman Islands. It seems a long time

:00:10. > :00:14.ago now, the opening ceremony, but very impressive it was, too.

:00:15. > :00:22.Better conditions, certainly drier. Still blustery, though.

:00:23. > :00:25.Every time the rain stops, the wind pushes up. I am not sure what they

:00:26. > :00:28.prefer. The crowds are getting bigger all

:00:29. > :00:34.the time, the next rider, Christine Spence from Jersey.

:00:35. > :00:45.I am looking at the rider from Malaysia now, Muhammad Fauzan Ahmad

:00:46. > :00:49.Lutfi, 28 years old. He was involved in a nasty car accident only last

:00:50. > :00:54.month when returning from a cycling event with his wife. A lorry in a

:00:55. > :00:59.road had gone over and he was in a collision with it. The lorry driver

:01:00. > :01:05.unfortunately died and just like injuries for the cyclist and his

:01:06. > :01:08.wife. That delayed his departure for the Commonwealth Games, his

:01:09. > :01:11.preparation, obviously, greatly disrupted, physically and

:01:12. > :01:16.emotionally, by what happened. But he has made it to the start line

:01:17. > :01:22.here and Muhammad Fauzan Ahmad Lutfi of Malaysia on his way turning right

:01:23. > :01:25.into Gallowgate on the salt market. A lot of riders choosing to use

:01:26. > :01:30.sunglasses, very optimistic. There is Christine Spence, who we

:01:31. > :01:36.did not see at the start, the 45-year-old former triathlete, 23rd

:01:37. > :01:42.in Delhi in this race. Now, for Northern Ireland, first

:01:43. > :01:47.competitor, Marcus Christie, 23rd in the under 23 World Championship time

:01:48. > :02:06.trial last year in Florence on the iPod chain reaction team. -- he

:02:07. > :02:10.smashed the Irish 50 mile time trial record and he is underway here in

:02:11. > :02:27.the Commonwealth Games. Then as the Malaysia rider. It is steadily

:02:28. > :02:41.uphill for most of this race here, just going uphill all the time.

:02:42. > :02:44.It drags instead solely up to the first time check before they turn

:02:45. > :02:56.left into this deeper part of the course.

:02:57. > :03:05.Gerhard Mans of Namibia, very powerful rider.

:03:06. > :03:11.He is certainly not lacking in muscle power of there. Another rider

:03:12. > :03:18.sporting sunglasses. I think it is just to keep particles of dust out

:03:19. > :03:19.of their eyes so they can rely on their eyelids.

:03:20. > :03:23.It will keep the rain out their eyelids.

:03:24. > :03:27.eyes a little later on. Thankfully, the rain seems to be holding off for

:03:28. > :03:30.the moment as we dip back to Christine Spence of Jersey. 45 now,

:03:31. > :03:43.started riding at the age of 21. Now, Luke Rowe from Team Sky, riding

:03:44. > :03:47.for Wales. Stage winner in the Tour of Britain, fourth International

:03:48. > :03:53.Road race Championship a few weeks ago.

:03:54. > :03:57.Luke Rowe. Fourth in the time trial, of course, as well, so he has been

:03:58. > :04:01.in good company. It will be interesting to see what he can do.

:04:02. > :04:04.No racing since the national championships but the pedigree is

:04:05. > :04:06.there. He has a good, strong rider, as

:04:07. > :04:14.well. We will be interested to see how

:04:15. > :04:21.Luke Rowe fares coming years more than cable pull of a ride here. --

:04:22. > :04:25.capable. Open to the tour of California, of

:04:26. > :04:29.course, in support of Bradley Wiggins. Today he is his own man

:04:30. > :04:34.riding for Wales. I think now we have riders like Luke

:04:35. > :04:39.Rowe out on the course it will be a very different race to the one we

:04:40. > :04:43.happen watching this afternoon. Things starting to get much more

:04:44. > :04:49.interesting in terms of the overall scenario. Matthew Osborn out there

:04:50. > :04:52.for Guernsey, the 25-year-old. He is in good company with those around

:04:53. > :04:58.him out on the road. Quickly into his stride immediately having made

:04:59. > :05:02.that right turn into salt market. Very unusual at this level of

:05:03. > :05:10.competition to have single minute time gaps. Normally we have ten

:05:11. > :05:16.minutes, the gap, so the riders do not interfere with each other, but

:05:17. > :05:21.it is one minute to the end. You have that in the tour, smaller

:05:22. > :05:25.gaps in the top 20. It is not just the riders come it is the traffic

:05:26. > :05:27.around, the following cars and motorbikes all giving assistance to

:05:28. > :05:33.the rider. It is good for us, it keeps the

:05:34. > :05:36.action coming thick and fast. Talking of fast, Luke Rowe making,

:05:37. > :05:49.what looks like visibly at least a very strong start.

:05:50. > :05:53.He has that sat now of pack in his suit, that means you will get

:05:54. > :05:56.constant time checks. Difficult for him, most of his opposition is yet

:05:57. > :06:00.to start. Here is one of them now, Svein Tuft.

:06:01. > :06:06.Svein Tuft, who has been around the block a few times, 37 now, vastly

:06:07. > :06:09.experienced. He is a man who definitely dances to the beat of his

:06:10. > :06:13.own drum and has done throughout his life.

:06:14. > :06:16.Another rider coming out of the Tour de France, of course, so there is a

:06:17. > :06:20.question over whether he has had enough time to recover. Only three

:06:21. > :06:26.clear days between these events, which is quite incredible, really.

:06:27. > :06:32.Svein Tuft, actually, is not due off just yet, he is rider number 13. We

:06:33. > :06:35.go in ascending order, here's a few minutes away. Just having his bike

:06:36. > :06:40.checked, there. All bikes have to be ratified by the

:06:41. > :06:44.commissaire. You mentioned he was in the time

:06:45. > :06:46.trial in the Tour de France this year, he was 15th in that time trial

:06:47. > :06:48.just before the Paris.

:06:49. > :06:53.He is something of a Paris.

:06:54. > :06:57.though not all of the riders ride flat out in those time trials on the

:06:58. > :07:04.tour, so it is not always indicate if of form.

:07:05. > :07:08.We watch Muhammad Fauzan Ahmad Lutfi of Malaysia. Good Malaysia and

:07:09. > :07:32.representation, we have become used to it on the track with the likes of

:07:33. > :07:37.as is allowed one -- as is all has meowing.

:07:38. > :07:57.What about that riding position for liberal? The clock counts down once

:07:58. > :08:01.more. Number 19 Drobisch of Namibia. It is an unfamiliar Jersey, the

:08:02. > :08:05.Namibian team. A big test for him on the roads of Scotland today. A

:08:06. > :08:10.reminder if you have just tuned in, the leader at the moment, we had a

:08:11. > :08:13.batch of 30 at the start and this is the second batch with the big names

:08:14. > :08:21.and the man who leads the way overall, Janvier Hadi from Rwanda.

:08:22. > :08:26.I think that Mark will soon be toppled and publicly, certainly by

:08:27. > :08:29.this man, Luke Rowe. As you say, stock still on the bars at the

:08:30. > :08:34.moment. You would not be able to tell he's actually climbing at the

:08:35. > :08:38.moment. These suits are carefully designed, you can see the different

:08:39. > :08:43.textures of the materials, different parts of the body, different

:08:44. > :08:47.cylinders shapes, all for aerodynamics. Scott Davies leaving

:08:48. > :08:48.the starter's gate, the Welshman, 18 years old.

:08:49. > :08:53.British under 20 Three Rd years old.

:08:54. > :08:57.road time trial champion this year. Seventh in the World Championship

:08:58. > :09:02.Junior Katharine Merry last year, as well.

:09:03. > :09:06.A problem already here! He has barely got started and

:09:07. > :09:09.already there is a problem for Scott Davies of Wales.

:09:10. > :09:15.It looks like he has pulled his wheel over. That is a real error,

:09:16. > :09:18.totally unnecessary there. He has decided the break is rubbing. They

:09:19. > :09:23.will try to give him his road bike, which keeps him riding. He has

:09:24. > :09:28.decided it is OK. Well, pulling in the wheel over is not good at all.

:09:29. > :09:32.That has to be bad psychologically, you get all worked up and ready to

:09:33. > :09:36.go and suddenly that happens. It is one of those things that is

:09:37. > :09:40.not necessary, it is part of checking the bike at the start,

:09:41. > :09:44.whoever sets up the bike. Really unfortunate for him there. He

:09:45. > :09:49.was not ruffled, though, just crack on with the job.

:09:50. > :09:55.This is Aaron Bailey from Guernsey, one of the older riders in the field

:09:56. > :10:01.here. No problems for Bailey.

:10:02. > :10:09.Straight into his rhythm there. The sun, for the moment at least,

:10:10. > :10:13.continues to shine. Let us hope that continues.

:10:14. > :10:19.It certainly looks to be breaking up, the weather now. The clouds are

:10:20. > :10:24.getting higher and further apart. It looks as though the wind has come

:10:25. > :10:27.and that has to stay consistent if we see a third competition.

:10:28. > :10:30.That is one of the things they have to deal with. Equipment choice is

:10:31. > :10:37.very important, as well, with the change in these wind conditions.

:10:38. > :10:45.Here is Christie going through as the fastest so far, as you can see,

:10:46. > :10:49.21 seconds faster than anyone else. The leaders constantly changing as

:10:50. > :10:52.they go through the time checks and all of the time checks that were

:10:53. > :10:58.said earlier on basically going to be pushed further and further down.

:10:59. > :11:03.It is effectively at seeded event here so the better riders go last.

:11:04. > :11:06.Hopefully the event builds to a crescendo and gives us a spectacular

:11:07. > :11:13.and thrilling finish. That is the general idea, anyway. Hadi from

:11:14. > :11:19.Rwanda leads the way and it was a good ride for him, where ever he

:11:20. > :11:23.ends up over a later today. It seems as if a few more people have turned

:11:24. > :11:30.up. There is giving to Thomas, I was going to see fresh from the Tour de

:11:31. > :11:32.France, maybe not so fresh! -- Geraint Thomas full stop despite all

:11:33. > :11:36.of the problem Team Sky had this year, and that he was not able to

:11:37. > :11:43.write for himself, as is always the case for him, it seems, 22nd overall

:11:44. > :11:46.in the Tour. Very, very talented writer. I think it will be

:11:47. > :11:52.psychological, more than anything else, for Geraint Thomas.

:11:53. > :11:57.He has had, figuratively, a crash course in riding in those conditions

:11:58. > :12:01.for the last few weeks. There goes Mark Christian, we have

:12:02. > :12:06.been watching him perform with style on the track. He has a Commonwealth

:12:07. > :12:12.bronze medal already from Delhi four years ago. He won the bronze in the

:12:13. > :12:22.points race, 23 golds, -- 23-year-old.

:12:23. > :12:32.The riders at the top end of the field getting ready to set sail.

:12:33. > :12:36.Final adjustments being made now as Steve Cummings takes to the start

:12:37. > :12:39.ramp. Steve Cummings, former Commonwealth

:12:40. > :12:45.Games gold medallist in the team pursuit back in 2006. He got bronze

:12:46. > :12:48.in the individual pursuit, as well. Winner of the tour of the

:12:49. > :12:52.Mediterranean this year, first in the time trial, as well, strong

:12:53. > :12:57.later on his day, Steve. He has had a good day, hasn't he

:12:58. > :13:02.crash marquee used to ride with Sky, then went to BMC, he was a

:13:03. > :13:07.useful rider for Cadel Evans when Evans did the Tour de France. You

:13:08. > :13:10.mentioned the tour of the Mediterranean, and there was also a

:13:11. > :13:15.stage on one of the Grand Tour is for him back in 2012. Certainly I

:13:16. > :13:30.Grand Tour stage winner. Steve Cummings, then, on the road for

:13:31. > :13:43.England. It is Svein Tuft from Canada. Multiple champion. He

:13:44. > :13:55.actually had the pink jersey in stage one of the Giro. We are really

:13:56. > :14:04.getting towards the business end now. He is something of an unknown

:14:05. > :14:08.for me. Partially because he is coming out of the Tour de France

:14:09. > :14:23.depending on what conditions he is in. He also managed to finish the

:14:24. > :14:27.Giro. Three days rest after going 3000 kilometres around France. He

:14:28. > :14:34.would not find that sort of competition mode in any other sport.

:14:35. > :14:44.There is Geraint Thomas for Wales. He has perfected the act of being

:14:45. > :14:47.able to switch on and off duty. Free, one, and he is a whole

:14:48. > :15:13.different mindset. Gold medallist in Delhi. Won the

:15:14. > :15:17.bronze in the individual event. He has Tour de France time trial

:15:18. > :15:31.victories including the victory in the Giro. He certainly has a smooth

:15:32. > :15:38.style. It is the last section that really decides the event. Two times

:15:39. > :15:48.an Olympic gold medallist on the track. 22nd in the Tour de France.

:15:49. > :15:51.Underway here in Glasgow. It will be interesting to see what sort of legs

:15:52. > :15:58.he has brought back with him from France. He could be on course for

:15:59. > :16:11.the victory. It depends on how he came out of the tour. He had

:16:12. > :16:12.the victory. It depends on how he stage wins. It did not happen for

:16:13. > :16:20.him. It was a tough three weaker stage wins. It did not happen for

:16:21. > :16:24.race for him but the form is there It is just psychologically kindly

:16:25. > :16:34.bring it round. He looked motivated on the line. In Dennis is the

:16:35. > :16:40.favourite for many today. James McLaughlin about to leave the

:16:41. > :16:45.starters ramp from Kinsey. 23-year-old who began competing

:16:46. > :16:57.three years ago after watching the Tour de France on television. Luke

:16:58. > :17:05.Rowe has went through the first chess point -- first checkpoint. He

:17:06. > :17:14.has the fastest time by 12 seconds. A good rider gives us a good

:17:15. > :17:21.indication. We can expect some fast times today. It is getting exciting.

:17:22. > :17:35.Just nine riders to go out on the road. Then the race will be on.

:17:36. > :17:48.Final adjustments made ahead of the ride for the late starters. Yannick

:17:49. > :17:53.Lincoln from Mauritius. 16th in Delhi. Second best African after

:17:54. > :17:59.Robert Thomson. He won the tour of Mauritius this year. He has won a

:18:00. > :18:06.lot of races over the years but all of them have been at home. There are

:18:07. > :18:16.a lot of cables on the front of that bike, that is for sure.

:18:17. > :18:27.Luke Rowe setting the fastest time at the first checkpoint. The Team

:18:28. > :18:35.Sky rider racing for Wales today. Making a very good start. 12 seconds

:18:36. > :18:40.faster than the next quickest. Jesse Sergent from New Zealand in the

:18:41. > :18:52.starters gate. Bronze medallist from paging and also from London. -- from

:18:53. > :18:57.China. You can continue enjoying this race is on BBC1. There is still

:18:58. > :19:02.plenty more sport for you on BBC Three.

:19:03. > :19:11.The sun has came out. What about that for timing. It is quite windy.

:19:12. > :19:17.You will not be wearing a hat and here. What have you got planned? I

:19:18. > :19:23.am heading through to Edinburgh to the Commonwealth pool to watch the

:19:24. > :19:27.diving. Enjoy that. Afternoon everybody, great to have you with

:19:28. > :19:36.us. What's coming up from Glasgow 2014 in the afternoon and early

:19:37. > :19:42.evening. It is getting tense in the men's singles of the lawn bowls.

:19:43. > :19:50.Action shortly. Plenty of home nation interest in the badminton.

:19:51. > :19:53.The platform awaits the biggest men in terms of weightlifting. We will

:19:54. > :20:39.find out who will be crowned the Lord of the rings in the gymnastics.

:20:40. > :20:49.Got to be exactly right to get this one. What a fabulous baton that was.

:20:50. > :20:53.We'll be heading off to the Kelvingrove Park in the west end of

:20:54. > :20:59.the city for the semifinals of the singles. Before we get to the

:21:00. > :21:01.action, let us to -- let us take a look at the sport that has grown in

:21:02. > :21:16.popularity. Long bowls for me is like watching

:21:17. > :21:27.the men's 100 metres final. This is the sport that gets me going more

:21:28. > :21:32.than anything else. Very good shot. Bowls had a reputation as being a

:21:33. > :21:36.fuddy-duddy sport, something for all people. It is nothing like that.

:21:37. > :21:48.Lots of young people play and lots of youngsters in the crowd. Why are

:21:49. > :21:57.you laughing? Are you a big bowls fan? If I am honest, no. It is not

:21:58. > :22:02.all about rolling the bowl down and getting close to the jack, there's a

:22:03. > :22:08.lot of skill and tactics involved. The guys that are doing it are

:22:09. > :22:16.brilliant. What do you think of the best things about the sport? I

:22:17. > :22:33.actually do not know. It is fast. It is furious. It has got soul. It is

:22:34. > :22:43.skilful. No questions, skilful. It is fun, with a capital F.

:22:44. > :22:52.I guess the main reason why I like bowls is because I have tried it, I

:22:53. > :22:58.know how hard it is. I promise you, if you are sitting at home, you try

:22:59. > :23:04.it, you'll love it. What you see two people who accuse bowls of being an

:23:05. > :23:10.old person sport? Come and try it out, give it a go.

:23:11. > :23:20.A place in the final awaits the winners. It is 13-13. It is the

:23:21. > :23:47.first to 21 who wins. The way it is going at the moment,

:23:48. > :23:51.Darren has got a slight edge. He is starting to develop the

:23:52. > :24:09.opportunities and taking the jacks back, coming bowls. -- turning

:24:10. > :24:17.bowls. He is also trying to get that first bowl really close. It has

:24:18. > :24:19.dropped a little bit this occasion. It is hard to tell, there's so

:24:20. > :25:34.little between two players. Trying again here. That is a

:25:35. > :25:42.brilliant bowl. Three down, Aron Sherriff. Again, down on his

:25:43. > :26:00.backhand. It does sweep back but he put too much weight on it. He. Oh.

:26:01. > :26:04.It is a lot worse. Dan wants to draw another one but he doesn't want to

:26:05. > :26:24.leave a catch. Aim for the back bowl. Good line again. He is running

:26:25. > :26:45.after that. He likes it. That just did not have the weight.

:26:46. > :27:03.He has given this a go. It's dropped away. Fund two. -- found two. That

:27:04. > :28:14.is the third 44 Darren Burnett. me, that was a very nice pick-up.

:28:15. > :28:50.I think he'll most hit that on the way past! -- he almost.

:28:51. > :28:57.He has dropped that one, after picking up the Jack and carrying it

:28:58. > :29:05.five or six feet. That is a strange one, that one.

:29:06. > :29:10.Amazing two bowls. I am shocked at that one because I

:29:11. > :29:15.thought, he is bound to be reaching it again, punch his own bowl, miss

:29:16. > :29:59.it and carrying the Jack - all sorts of chances.

:30:00. > :30:08.He is certainly trying to reach this time. A bit of work to do for this

:30:09. > :30:18.bowl. Stay on. I think he has dropped in the ditch.

:30:19. > :30:24.Now, I wonder, will Darren just try and draw this or take a risk and

:30:25. > :30:29.bowl for the Jack? Well, you need is an angle. If he

:30:30. > :30:33.gets it solid, it will go on the ditch and he will still be one down.

:30:34. > :30:37.It is about four feet to the ditch, probably, I don't think he has

:30:38. > :30:43.enough space behind him to make that angle to make it work. Anyway, with

:30:44. > :30:56.following down, to try and get inside for the Jack as we see David

:30:57. > :31:03.Goodwillie watching on. -- Gourlay. A bit girly -- David Gourlay the

:31:04. > :31:07.Scottish court has managed to bring in a lot of support staff to help

:31:08. > :31:16.them. Extremely well funded for these Commonwealth Games.

:31:17. > :31:30.In the area. He would get a solid connection if

:31:31. > :31:33.the bowl stopped affair, on the Jack.

:31:34. > :31:37.Wasn't far away. Never get back, though.

:31:38. > :32:03.This really should be a spare opportunity for the Aussie.

:32:04. > :32:15.It looks like two if Darren has lifted the Jack. Two it is. Levels

:32:16. > :32:34.the scores let -- yet again. Nothing to choose between the two

:32:35. > :32:38.players. It is not just fat, John, just the

:32:39. > :32:47.way they are playing the game is very, very similar, as well. -- it

:32:48. > :32:49.is not just that. It is an entertaining game full of all sorts

:32:50. > :33:12.of shot playing and good draws. The other semifinal, Ryan Best are

:33:13. > :33:37.closing in on victory. Well, Canada could do with some

:33:38. > :33:43.success in this event. There has been not much coming out of the

:33:44. > :33:53.bowls for them. Yes, it is fair to say Ryan Bester

:33:54. > :33:57.would be the best hope. He resides in Australia and plays his bowls in

:33:58. > :34:01.Austria. He has done since he was 17.

:34:02. > :34:04.This is close, it needs to stop. That is in for two. Again, very

:34:05. > :34:28.close to the run for home. 15-15. The thing his own bowl.

:34:29. > :34:36.-- lifting. That has made the shot. He had a couple of goals already for

:34:37. > :34:39.the Commonwealth Games that have not worked out for him, Darren Burnett.

:34:40. > :34:57.In Delhi he lost to Robert Weale. Darren reinstated again. He has had

:34:58. > :35:17.a couple of chances here, he could try and lift bowl away.

:35:18. > :35:26.Well, that is no harm back there, but I think he was expecting that

:35:27. > :35:31.bowl to kick in a bit better. The fact it has gone back, it is a

:35:32. > :35:32.deep back bowl, he might consider playing a bit more weight on the

:35:33. > :36:09.next one. Well, you might consider just trying

:36:10. > :36:16.to chip this bowl away. He has two seconds, he must have a

:36:17. > :36:20.go at this. Certainly down on a narrower line.

:36:21. > :36:27.It is all down to the weight now, has he got in up weight to carry it?

:36:28. > :36:45.Shot come perfect. Absolutely Arendt we?

:36:46. > :36:50.Well done by Darren, he took the opportunity to try and draw the

:36:51. > :36:55.short. He played it really well. He had a few options there. He could

:36:56. > :36:58.play a role, he could play a draw, lots of chances in that area. -- he

:36:59. > :37:43.could play a roller. Nice easy action, Aron.

:37:44. > :37:48.Yes, an awful lot of the Australian players have got a bit of a set

:37:49. > :37:51.routine before they deliver the bowl. Quite slow when they approach

:37:52. > :37:58.the match, after that they get things away pretty easy and gentle.

:37:59. > :38:33.Both these players are very fast. That is OK, that is a good bowl.

:38:34. > :38:41.Needed to get something their first before he could play the short bowl.

:38:42. > :39:09.Darren has to be just a little bit careful.

:39:10. > :39:17.Single bowl target, just needs a little tap on it. He is in the area,

:39:18. > :39:22.gently, gently... Did not get enough. I thought he had that solid

:39:23. > :40:06.as a rock. Yes, just didn't get enough of it.

:40:07. > :40:16.The other side of it would have been good.

:40:17. > :40:20.I am pretty positive with that bowl that he would not have wanted to

:40:21. > :40:22.catch the shot. Certainly determined to get past the Jack.

:40:23. > :40:36.More than he probably thought. David Gourlay, it is a big hope,

:40:37. > :41:23.this, for him. Interesting choice of shot here. He

:41:24. > :41:30.must have two seconds if he played that.

:41:31. > :41:39.Well, looking for a measure. I don't think he had two seconds, he

:41:40. > :41:45.gambled, really. That is a big gamble at this stage,

:41:46. > :41:48.John, isn't it? 16-15? I suppose he thought he could not take the both

:41:49. > :41:54.of them out, but he certainly would not want to give another shot away.

:41:55. > :42:06.I will give Aron the benefit of the doubt fair, pretty certain he knew

:42:07. > :42:11.it was just the one shot with two seconds.

:42:12. > :42:22.But come at 17-15, once you get to 17 you know you can take it in one

:42:23. > :42:49.end, and so does your opponent. You have to be very careful about the

:42:50. > :42:52.play -- what they play. APPLAUSE

:42:53. > :43:01.That is a good opener. Cranking up the pressure on Aron Sherriff.

:43:02. > :43:44.Rarely has there been a loose end. This is the reply.

:43:45. > :43:48.Absolutely slaughtering down his backhand. He is getting good bowls

:43:49. > :44:16.on it. Finding centre rink. Good marker. Making things very cool

:44:17. > :44:25.-- very clear. Very confident in this match as well. He is making

:44:26. > :44:38.good calls. The most important thing about a good marker is you do not

:44:39. > :44:41.even know that he is there. I am not sure if he has made the double. Good

:44:42. > :45:22.end of bowls. Seems sort of bowl. Needs to hurry.

:45:23. > :45:31.Needs to run. Did not have the weight. You are saying what I'm

:45:32. > :45:39.saying. If you get any touch that jack. It is not going to be easy to

:45:40. > :45:53.get out of it. They are all in a row. There's no real target. Not

:45:54. > :46:04.exactly very appetising. It is tough but it is available. He knows the

:46:05. > :46:16.line. How is he looking? Needs to hurry. Great line. Just short of

:46:17. > :46:21.weight. Dear me. I thought he would have given it a chance. I think he

:46:22. > :46:32.died. He is playing with nice weight and just underplayed it. -- I think

:46:33. > :46:45.he did. Alan Burnett will do well to get around that. -- Aron Sherriff.

:46:46. > :46:53.He is on to the forehand. That last bowl of Darren Burnett just killed

:46:54. > :47:08.off the backhand. Good effort. He has made a second for sure. That was

:47:09. > :47:18.a good bowl by Aron Sherriff. I keep adding more ends to my scorecard. It

:47:19. > :47:26.doesn't matter about ends in terms of singles. It is the first to 21.

:47:27. > :47:49.We have not even been playing for two hours. They are on the 24th end.

:47:50. > :47:55.We can confirm that the mannish -- the winner of this match will play

:47:56. > :48:17.Ryan West for gold in the final. He was a young player who featured

:48:18. > :48:22.on the Canadian team but then decided to play his bowls in

:48:23. > :48:27.Australia. He became a very strong player playing down there he still

:48:28. > :49:05.plays under the Canadian flag. It gets down to the nitty-gritty and

:49:06. > :49:07.the game should slow down. The players are coming up after the

:49:08. > :49:13.second bowl. That is very understandable. You could play the

:49:14. > :49:38.wrong shot if you do not take a good look at it.

:49:39. > :49:49.It is a very good effort. Probably a bit short. Good protector in many

:49:50. > :49:50.ways. It was a good bowl. The backhand is very difficult on this

:49:51. > :50:24.length. Difficult for Aron Sherriff. That wasn't a bad attempt. It is in

:50:25. > :51:36.a good place. Needs to pass it, doesn't want to

:51:37. > :51:41.touch the bowl under the jack. That is opened the door. Not a

:51:42. > :51:54.particularly easy door to walk through. It has exposed the jack.

:51:55. > :52:01.Two shots to Scotland. What would you do? There it is the shot on the

:52:02. > :52:12.backhand to draw the jack through. He could play for more on the

:52:13. > :52:15.forehand and play two bowls. The backhand that Steve Wright shot and

:52:16. > :52:26.that is what he is playing. He has not played it very often, not an

:52:27. > :52:33.easy shot. -- looks like the right shot. It is such a hard hand to

:52:34. > :52:40.play. Players stay away from it. Darren Burnett is inching ever

:52:41. > :52:52.closer to the final of the singles. 20-15. He is one way. He had a few

:52:53. > :52:59.hiccups on the way, Darren Burnett, in some of the matches he has

:53:00. > :53:03.played. He has dug deep. Very experienced and he knows how to win

:53:04. > :53:13.matches. That is a secret at the moment.

:53:14. > :53:20.If you look at Darren and he has the big tournament successes on his CD.

:53:21. > :53:33.The big titles. That could be the difference here. -- CV. Both of

:53:34. > :53:44.these players came back from a deficit to win the quarterfinals.

:53:45. > :53:49.The superbike, he did not want to be anywhere near the Scotland bowl. --

:53:50. > :54:10.nice reply. That will not make an awful lot of

:54:11. > :54:15.difference. Need something close to win this end. Better line with this

:54:16. > :54:22.one. He does not want the gap. You cannot blame him. Can say he went

:54:23. > :54:29.chasing it, John, but what he did do, was give it a chance. It has

:54:30. > :54:33.gone to a good place at the back. When you get to this stage in the

:54:34. > :54:37.game, it is amazing what can win you the match. He does not want the

:54:38. > :54:40.jack, he wants an edge. APPLAUSE

:54:41. > :54:49.That makes a difference. APPLAUSE

:54:50. > :54:54.That makes He is playing that hard shot on the forehand. I cannot

:54:55. > :55:00.believe he played that. That was a poor bowl. He was quick off the mat.

:55:01. > :55:05.Far too fast off of the mat. That was a nightmare hands to play a shot

:55:06. > :55:18.like that. He could have driven the bowl to be better. He is in trouble.

:55:19. > :55:27.Almost everything that Alan has played has been traditional in his

:55:28. > :55:39.shot plate. That was just too quick. -- Aron Sherriff. Betty gets the

:55:40. > :55:48.gap, it is good. He is not up. He has blocked the backhand. If I was

:55:49. > :55:55.Aron Sherriff, I would attack this. He has to get the short bowl away.

:55:56. > :56:05.Although the key has blocked the draw, it is a more reliable hand

:56:06. > :56:20.even for weight. His wife Lindsey waiting. The tension. Darren Burnett

:56:21. > :56:27.really wants the play-off match, to play for gold and silver. Going for

:56:28. > :56:35.it. It is our way. This place will rot. Kelvingrove have seen hero in

:56:36. > :56:41.singles get through, Darren Burnett. He wins the match against the

:56:42. > :56:46.Australian, one of the main competitors for the gold medal. 21 -

:56:47. > :56:55.15. Fruit of the final with a wonderful exhibition. The family are

:56:56. > :56:59.absolutely delighted. What a year for Darren Burnett. He wins the

:57:00. > :57:06.indoor singles and now he's in the final of the Commonwealth Games. He

:57:07. > :57:10.would not have predicted that? It does not get better than that. Aron

:57:11. > :57:15.Sherriff played well. Once Darren got into the game he started to

:57:16. > :57:17.control it. That was the last bowl. Over the game, he was the worthy

:57:18. > :57:34.winner. Well done, my man. Great stuff. That is where the bowls

:57:35. > :57:37.is taking place across the River Clyde from us. That is the

:57:38. > :57:44.university tower that overlooks Kelvingrove Park. That is another

:57:45. > :57:47.guaranteed medal as far as Scotland are concerned in what has become a

:57:48. > :57:57.record-breaking Commonwealth Games for them. The total previous best

:57:58. > :58:02.was set in Melbourne. The final will be hosted to model in the bowls. He

:58:03. > :58:05.will be taking on the Canadian who came through his semifinal against

:58:06. > :58:23.the man from New Zealand. MUSIC: "Changing"

:59:56. > :59:57.a Prince Charming. I don't think I'm ugly, but I don't

:59:58. > :00:01.think I'm, like, really pretty. I say, "You've got something

:00:02. > :01:33.on your bum." "Really?" And I say, our coverage of the Glasgow

:01:34. > :01:37.Commonwealth Games. Badminton is one of only four sports that will

:01:38. > :01:43.feature during every of these games. A place in the quarterfinals

:01:44. > :01:51.beckons for those in the men's singles. Let's find out how the game

:01:52. > :02:04.works for the money negotiated. -- for the uninitiated. Badminton is a

:02:05. > :02:11.fast-moving racket sport that involves dexterity, agility and

:02:12. > :02:19.stomach to do. The game entails striking the shuttlecock over the

:02:20. > :02:28.1.5 metre high net. They consist of 16 overlapping goose feathers

:02:29. > :02:40.embedded in a cork base. The unusual aerodynamic properties mean it has

:02:41. > :02:47.an unusual top speed and a lower deceleration than the balls you'd is

:02:48. > :03:11.another sports. There are six gold medals for grabs. England's number

:03:12. > :03:23.one Rajiv Youseff has been making headlines since he was young. This

:03:24. > :03:27.is his story. I have got very fond memories of playing in the last

:03:28. > :03:35.games. It was announcing myself on the world stage. It has been

:03:36. > :03:42.alongside since England had a top-class men's singles player but

:03:43. > :03:48.he is through to the final. It is happy and sad for me. Playing in the

:03:49. > :03:55.Common Wealth games is something that I aspired to. But I was in two

:03:56. > :04:04.minds about how I played. Getting a silver was a highlight of my career.

:04:05. > :04:09.A first Englishman for 24 years to reach a Commonwealth final in men's

:04:10. > :04:15.singles. If I can do the same as last time I will be very happy. I

:04:16. > :04:20.will look to try and go one better. It will be very tough but I do not

:04:21. > :04:24.see why I cannot produce some wins. If I can be consistent I am

:04:25. > :04:32.confident of bringing back a medal again. In the team, we got a bronze

:04:33. > :04:38.last time, I do not see why we cannot do better this time. In the

:04:39. > :04:43.team event we did not perform how we wanted in the Olympics. To bring

:04:44. > :04:49.back credibility to Badminton I getting a medal in these games,

:04:50. > :04:55.maybe it will get the interest back up in Badminton. It is a semi-home

:04:56. > :05:00.game. There is going to be a lot of interest from the media. We need to

:05:01. > :05:06.use the pressure in a positive way. I will try to deal with that. We do

:05:07. > :05:11.not normally play team and individual Badminton back-to-back,

:05:12. > :05:18.hopefully it is something we can all do well and bring back a medal. Can

:05:19. > :06:15.he book a semifinal spot? COMMENTATOR: A little shake of the

:06:16. > :06:48.head. He cannot believe that he missed it. Can you imagine if he was

:06:49. > :06:53.able to combine that but he is becoming too easy to read and

:06:54. > :06:57.anticipate so he is getting into trouble. He has to work on the

:06:58. > :07:35.overall game and not just this fantastic smash that he has got.

:07:36. > :07:46.Just long on the drift. Nice smash into the body. We haven't seen his

:07:47. > :07:53.favourite smash yet. Down the line. Not yet. Going back to the

:07:54. > :07:58.favourite smash yet. Down the line. what I mentioned, he has to work on

:07:59. > :08:05.his overall game. It might be a clear sign of Ouseph doing that. He

:08:06. > :08:28.is not just relying on that but is building on the facilities into his

:08:29. > :08:35.game, which is good. Isn't it amazing? I think in this rally what

:08:36. > :08:40.it set of was an attacking clear by Huang straight down the line to

:08:41. > :08:45.Ouseph. From there, he went into that precision and killed it from

:08:46. > :08:58.the net. Just a small example of what I am trying to explain. To play

:08:59. > :09:30.more variety with your shots. Another one of those missed smashes.

:09:31. > :09:35.A couple of times he has lifted over Huang but pushed it long. He has to

:09:36. > :10:26.remember that he is playing with the drift. 5-5. Again, this set is very

:10:27. > :10:32.closely contested. The pace is not picking up but more pressure on the

:10:33. > :10:49.shots. I fear that this is what we can see for the rest of the game. A

:10:50. > :11:04.21-19 situation. Whoever will win it will be the best to adapt. First

:11:05. > :11:27.time there has been a 2-point advantage to either man in this

:11:28. > :11:37.game. Ouseph coming out of a tight net exchange with the benefit of the

:11:38. > :11:58.net cord. Just have to put some authority into it as what he did

:11:59. > :12:03.here. Getting very nicely out of that one. He was in deep problems

:12:04. > :12:19.all the way. And then missing the chance. That was a good shot, wasn't

:12:20. > :13:14.it? A camera shot. Huang reading it there. Getting

:13:15. > :14:14.there very early on his forehand. That is very nicely played.

:14:15. > :14:20.It is probably because we are guilty of stereotyping, but we tend to

:14:21. > :14:26.think of the Chinese as fairly expressionless. Giving nothing away.

:14:27. > :14:32.But this man really shows his emotions. I know he has been in

:14:33. > :14:55.Singapore for a little while, but his upbringing was in China.

:14:56. > :15:17.The first time Ouseph has had a 2-point advantage in this game.

:15:18. > :15:24.Oh, what a chance! Perhaps just took too long a swing. Yes, he was lucky

:15:25. > :15:25.to get away with this, and I think he knows it. It was not well

:15:26. > :17:05.constructive. -- constructed. This once again, I feel that Ouseph

:17:06. > :17:14.is really edging away. Gliding away! What ever you say, I feel that he is

:17:15. > :17:16.slowly but surely just adding on to the margins, just one point at a

:17:17. > :17:40.time. It always worries me when you guess

:17:41. > :17:45.what is going to happen! Because nauseatingly, you are normally

:17:46. > :17:46.right. I get many right, but sometimes, I am also painfully

:17:47. > :18:13.wrong. You see? You said it was going to be

:18:14. > :18:26.17-12. It was close! You only asked him to win two. Well,

:18:27. > :18:56.50% efficient! -- well, 50% right! It is so nice to see how he is

:18:57. > :19:00.taking the pace of the shot, playing that reverse drop shot rather than

:19:01. > :19:07.going for the big smashes. And look how effective that was. Beautiful.

:19:08. > :19:35.Ouseph is nowhere near it. We could have a highlights reel of

:19:36. > :19:44.all of the expressions of Huang. He is having some delightful ones!

:19:45. > :20:16.Well intercepted, well read. Good anticipation here.

:20:17. > :20:59.Another one goes long, and these now are five match points for Rajiv

:21:00. > :21:20.Ouseph. Interesting way of changing his mind

:21:21. > :21:27.at the last moment. Rajiv Ouseph is through to the quarterfinals, and it

:21:28. > :21:33.will be a battle between England and Scotland, because Merrilees is

:21:34. > :21:38.waiting for him in the last eight. You looked fairly comfortable in

:21:39. > :21:43.that match? Yes, dare I say, it was quite a comfortable victory for me,

:21:44. > :21:46.and I am just happy to get through to the quarterfinals. You won a

:21:47. > :21:49.silver medal in the team competition, so how important would

:21:50. > :21:53.it be for you to pick up the gold medal as a singles player? It is a

:21:54. > :21:57.dream of mine. I think the competition is fairly wide open now

:21:58. > :22:01.that the number one seed pulled out a couple of weeks ago. I think I

:22:02. > :22:05.showed in the team event that I have got the level, it is just about

:22:06. > :22:10.producing it, and I think I did that today. You feel comfortable in this

:22:11. > :22:14.arena, obviously we are in Scotland, but lots of English flags around?

:22:15. > :22:19.Definitely. It is the first tournament I have played here, and I

:22:20. > :22:23.instantly felt at home. I hope it continues tomorrow. Kieran

:22:24. > :22:26.Merrilees, you're very good friend, is the opponent in the next round.

:22:27. > :22:30.Really there will be a lot of support for him, as a Scottish

:22:31. > :22:34.player, so how hard is it to go head to head with a good mate? It is

:22:35. > :22:38.difficult to play against someone. We trained together every day. And

:22:39. > :22:42.obviously, we are good friends. We have just got to put it to one side

:22:43. > :22:47.and concentrate when we are on court. I know he will get the home

:22:48. > :22:50.support, but like you said, there are a lot of English fans here

:22:51. > :22:55.today. So hopefully it will be 50-50ish! He has had a fairly

:22:56. > :23:00.comfortable passage to the quarterfinals as well - what would

:23:01. > :23:04.you say his strengths are? He is a very quick player, good speed around

:23:05. > :23:08.the court. I have got to be wary of that. I have seen him play at a very

:23:09. > :23:12.high level in training, and in tournaments as well. Hopefully I can

:23:13. > :23:21.show my experience and try and get through. We yes, well done to Rajiv

:23:22. > :23:23.Ouseph. England's number one will be facing

:23:24. > :23:29.that intriguing battle against Kieran Merrilees, of Scotland, and

:23:30. > :23:34.hopefully we can follow that progress on this channel, or indeed

:23:35. > :23:38.on BBC One. Over at the Armadillo, the biggest men on show at these

:23:39. > :23:42.Games will be faxing their muscles, and we will be going to see that

:23:43. > :23:48.shortly, as the superheavyweight category in weightlifting take to

:23:49. > :23:52.the platform. Before we get into all of that, and also speaking to my

:23:53. > :24:00.very special guest appear on the platform, let's tell you all you

:24:01. > :24:02.need to know about weightlifting. Weightlifting takes place in a

:24:03. > :24:09.competition area of four metres square. There are 15 categories,

:24:10. > :24:12.based on body weight, eight for men, and seven for women. Each competitor

:24:13. > :24:20.has one minutes to attempt their lift. Three referees the Judith a

:24:21. > :24:25.each lift. Once the competitor is motionless, the buzzer will indicate

:24:26. > :24:34.that it has been deemed complete. Competitors have three attempts for

:24:35. > :24:42.each lift. The snatch is a lift in one uninterrupted movement, and the

:24:43. > :24:55.clean and jerk consists of two distinct phases.

:24:56. > :25:02.So, the superheavy category to come as far as the men are concerned. I

:25:03. > :25:06.have been joined by someone who has done her bit, and given herself a

:25:07. > :25:10.fitting finale to her Commonwealth Games career. It was her fourth

:25:11. > :25:16.Games here in Glasgow, and she picked up bronze. Michaele Breeze, a

:25:17. > :25:19.great name, considering the blustery weather we're having. Well done on

:25:20. > :25:26.picking up bronze - how does it feel now? It feels great to be retired,

:25:27. > :25:29.to be able to sit back and watch and enjoy the rest of the competition. I

:25:30. > :25:33.am looking forward to going down in supporting our superheavyweights.

:25:34. > :25:37.For me, fourth Games, enough is enough. Time to give somebody else a

:25:38. > :25:46.chance. But you have said that before, so is this really it now? No

:25:47. > :25:51.way. I am 100% retired, let's get that on camera. I am not doing this

:25:52. > :25:57.again. I have been training for about nine months properly to try to

:25:58. > :26:01.get back to this, and it has been nine months of sacrifice and intense

:26:02. > :26:05.training and pain, and I do not want to put myself through that, or any

:26:06. > :26:09.of my supporters. I have had a fantastic support team. I would not

:26:10. > :26:18.want to put them through this again. Talk us through your final left,

:26:19. > :26:22.from what you can rumba. -- lift. Yes, we had a small issue. The

:26:23. > :26:27.snatch for me is my strongest part of the competition. I came here

:26:28. > :26:32.thinking I would be out there on my own. I did not expect Zoe Smith or

:26:33. > :26:38.the Nigerian to be that close to me. Fair play to them, they lifted

:26:39. > :26:42.extremely well. This is my strongest part this was my second attempt at a

:26:43. > :26:46.Commonwealth Games record. Confident at this point? Shaky, I would say.

:26:47. > :26:51.The noise in the auditorium was phenomenal. In 22 years of

:26:52. > :26:58.competing, I have never had the support that I had the other day. It

:26:59. > :27:03.was phenomenal, for so many people to get behind us and support us. For

:27:04. > :27:09.me, it was a fitting way to end my career, and I am really grateful for

:27:10. > :27:13.that. You set a Games record? Yes. Both in the 58 kilograms and the 63

:27:14. > :27:17.kilograms categories. We will have to wait and see if somebody can

:27:18. > :27:21.break those the next time around. What about the clean and jerk

:27:22. > :27:28.section? To be honest, it was disappointing. I came here

:27:29. > :27:35.anticipating 115 plus. My plan was to come in at I failed my last lift

:27:36. > :27:46.in the warm up room, at 105, the weights slid off the bar. I thought,

:27:47. > :27:52.let's get safe, at 108. The coaches got it very wrong, and it cost me

:27:53. > :27:56.the chance. You have mentioned there, there is a bit of mind games

:27:57. > :28:01.going on with you and Zoe Smith. What was going on? Well, you could

:28:02. > :28:06.see my face on that replay. I was disappointed. I said sorry to the

:28:07. > :28:11.crowd, was that was it, game over, as far as I was concerned. I only

:28:12. > :28:16.have one lift left, Zoe had not even started. My coaches had put me under

:28:17. > :28:20.pressure to try and bring it out on my last attempt, and it just did not

:28:21. > :28:25.give me enough to come out and progress in the competition, which

:28:26. > :28:28.is a shame. But there is a lot of toing and froing in the warm up

:28:29. > :28:33.room. Of course there was hype between myself and Zoe. I have not

:28:34. > :28:38.been beaten since I was a teenager. She lifted superbly well, to win

:28:39. > :28:41.gold. I am glad that she put the Nigerian in second place. And what

:28:42. > :28:47.about Rebekah Tiler, 15-year-old from Yorkshire, just falling short

:28:48. > :29:00.by five kilograms from a bronze medal, what future do you think she

:29:01. > :29:05.has got? It is not what happens as a youngster that is important. She is

:29:06. > :29:10.smashing records. The question is, can she progress as she moves

:29:11. > :29:14.through to the senior ranks. If she can leave her head screwed on and do

:29:15. > :29:21.the hard work then I think we have got a good future in women's

:29:22. > :29:25.weightlifting. We have just seen some of the protagonists in the

:29:26. > :29:31.men's heavy category. What can we expect? A lot of fun out there

:29:32. > :29:37.today. These are the big boys. A lot of people think it is the event to

:29:38. > :29:42.watch. It is the weights that you left compared to your body weight. I

:29:43. > :29:46.prefer the lighter categories. But we have the big boys coming out to

:29:47. > :29:49.perform. It is going to be very interesting and that is where I am

:29:50. > :29:59.going to be shooting after this interview. Very well done on your

:30:00. > :30:04.bronze medal. Let's get to the men's event. And your commentators over in

:30:05. > :30:07.bronze medal. Let's get to the men's the Clyde Auditorium. COMMENTATOR:

:30:08. > :30:18.bronze medal. Let's get to the men's Runner-up this year in the OC

:30:19. > :30:25.Alnwick Championships. Silver medal in the Oceania Championships.

:30:26. > :30:39.Laverty T So, as you can see every one of

:30:40. > :30:49.these 12 are the achievers. They have ten minutes in which to warm up

:30:50. > :30:51.and then jarring that ten minutes you will meet the technical

:30:52. > :30:54.officials and we will try to guide you to who might win this. You have

:30:55. > :31:03.still got a couple of minutes to go out and put a view bob on them. What

:31:04. > :31:12.is great is that we have got these three men from Melbourne who

:31:13. > :31:18.competed together. You have got Christopher Ray who took the gold

:31:19. > :31:30.medal. Damon Kelly who took the silver. That is unusual and it makes

:31:31. > :31:35.this an extra special Commonwealth championship, particularly for those

:31:36. > :31:40.three guys. This is the equivalent of the hundred metre sprint in

:31:41. > :31:47.athletics. It is where you are going to see the biggest weights lifted.

:31:48. > :31:54.And these are your three referees for this afternoon. What they will

:31:55. > :32:06.be looking for is perfect lifts. They will be lucky to see if there

:32:07. > :32:11.are any press out on the Alamo, if the feet are in line and stable.

:32:12. > :32:12.They will be lucky to see if the athlete pushes the bar onto the

:32:13. > :32:17.platform before enabling the buzzer. They will be looking for the Alamo

:32:18. > :32:26.touching the knee. Just a taste of the infringements that you can incur

:32:27. > :32:43.to take away a good lift. -- for the elbow. Great camaraderie amongst the

:32:44. > :32:49.officials. If you are in trouble, no better man to have on your side.

:32:50. > :32:56.Likewise, Owain stole that from one of the volunteers. It is the last

:32:57. > :33:03.session so people are bringing out some crazy moves. We have had a

:33:04. > :33:11.pretty good week in respect of injuries, just a few bits and bobs

:33:12. > :33:16.but nothing serious. No dislocated elbows or shoulders. The lifters

:33:17. > :33:20.have done well, the warm up area has been good. The right temperature.

:33:21. > :33:31.That is an important factor in making sure that these men and women

:33:32. > :33:36.have not picked up injuries. As much as we would love to stick with the

:33:37. > :33:46.warm up. Let's get some real action. This is in the mixed doubles of the

:33:47. > :33:47.Badminton in the round of 16. Over to our commentators for the next

:33:48. > :33:54.five or six minutes. Great shot says image in the bank

:33:55. > :34:20.here to her partner. That looked like a dinosaur I think

:34:21. > :34:52.it was waved to specifically for me. This one she is not getting away

:34:53. > :35:44.with. Very good play by Fumt. The player looks up and says where

:35:45. > :36:21.did that come from? It made a mark in the ceiling. He has too adjusted.

:36:22. > :36:35.That is way in. Good return of serve. Just removing some of the

:36:36. > :37:41.precautionary tape and she is ready to play again. A very nice big serve

:37:42. > :38:06.there. Look at the intensity. They're reactive on their feet. Yes,

:38:07. > :38:18.it was wide. That is brilliant. It is. It is a classic shot,

:38:19. > :38:26.beautifully played. Pressure here. Look at the way Fu was over

:38:27. > :38:27.committing to the side and not really being able to come

:38:28. > :38:58.crosscourt. Well, a very different situation at

:38:59. > :39:30.the second game interval. The Scots who were 7-11 down in the first game

:39:31. > :39:38.are now up. Just to let you know, we are going to stay with the Badminton

:39:39. > :39:43.on BBC Three because they are still on the warm up in the weightlifting.

:39:44. > :40:17.Enjoy the Badminton until towards the end of this game.

:40:18. > :40:31.Good play by Blair here. A lovely drop shot. The threat of the smash

:40:32. > :40:35.was enough. In the middle, just between the two players. Nobody

:40:36. > :40:47.knows who is going to take it. A good start for the Scots here. That

:40:48. > :40:54.is a good shot from bank here. Very good play by Fu, saving that on the

:40:55. > :41:01.backhand side very well. Kept them in the rally. This follow-up play is

:41:02. > :41:39.desperately unlucky. the net on her forehand, Fu. But

:41:40. > :41:45.that was one of them. She got very upset because she knows that is her

:41:46. > :41:59.strong side. Look at the reaction. She is not happy with it.

:42:00. > :42:18.Well saved. Very well saved. The backhand smash by Imogen Bankier was

:42:19. > :42:33.not really the best, as you can see. Well placed. Nice and easy.

:42:34. > :42:34.Good shot. Not full power, but just directing the smash very nicely,

:42:35. > :42:49.straight down the line. This time he gets his judgment

:42:50. > :43:19.absolutely right. They are loving this, they are

:43:20. > :43:25.loving the chanting, and they are loving the score at the moment. Even

:43:26. > :43:29.I might be tempted to say, Morten Frost, this could be a decisive

:43:30. > :43:34.lead. MORTEN FROST: Yes, 16-7 is a very

:43:35. > :43:40.decisive lead, when the matches like this. -- when the match is like

:43:41. > :44:22.this. DAVID MERCER: They started slowly,

:44:23. > :44:32.but there is nothing slow about their game right now.

:44:33. > :44:34.They are racing to victory. 11 match points. I beg your pardon, 13 match

:44:35. > :45:10.points. That was a very good shot by. Fu But

:45:11. > :45:20.as you say, David, it is a little bit too late. They still have to

:45:21. > :45:35.save another 11 match points. But so far, they have saved three.

:45:36. > :45:49.Make that four! No, it can't happen. Surely it can't happen. No, it will

:45:50. > :46:11.not happen. Just relax. The Scots will win it.

:46:12. > :46:23.And once again, we see the great support in the arena here in Glasgow

:46:24. > :46:34.for the Scots. Yes, the little clench of the fist. Robert Blair and

:46:35. > :46:47.Imogen Bankier, through to the quarterfinals, where they will play

:46:48. > :46:51.either the Canadians or the South Africans and they would be very firm

:46:52. > :46:56.favourites to win that one, whoever they play. And that would take them

:46:57. > :46:59.to the semifinals, and a possible showdown with the top-seeded English

:47:00. > :47:14.pair. Well done to them. As promised,

:47:15. > :47:18.next, to the Armadillo, to find out how the big men are getting on in

:47:19. > :47:32.the superheavyweight category. It is the snatch first of all.

:47:33. > :47:42.Well, he looks like he is well on his way with that lift. That was

:47:43. > :47:47.very book. We were trying to check about his personal best, but as can

:47:48. > :47:52.be the case with Nigerian athletes, we cannot quite be sure what they

:47:53. > :47:57.have been up to. That may well be his personal best. In terms of

:47:58. > :47:58.competitions, this is his first Commonwealth Games, so it probably

:47:59. > :48:17.is. So, Daniel Nemani. Another of the

:48:18. > :48:21.competitors who is in his 30s. The runner-up this season in the

:48:22. > :48:26.championships in Oceania inmate, in new Caledonia, where he picked up

:48:27. > :48:36.141 kilograms in this first half of the competition. -- Oceana in May.

:48:37. > :48:48.And we know that he can go to 150 as well. So, 135 is a pretty

:48:49. > :48:51.straightforward start for him. That will give him no worries at all.

:48:52. > :48:57.Here's a man who has had a catalogue of injuries, particularly between

:48:58. > :49:02.1999 and 2009, but he seems to have got through all of those. He said

:49:03. > :49:08.what he wanted to do was to come here and compete. Yes, he is very

:49:09. > :49:28.new to this sport. Quite a quick rise to the top.

:49:29. > :49:35.His sister is also a lifter, and she was runner-up in the Oceania

:49:36. > :49:43.Championships this year. She also finished sixth here the other day.

:49:44. > :49:54.And our first bit of red on the board. But I think we can be

:49:55. > :50:06.reassured that that would not have heard very much. So, he throws it

:50:07. > :50:11.from the hips, it is so in eight not to let go of the bar, even when you

:50:12. > :50:13.know it cannot be saved. But he was able to slow the momentum down, so

:50:14. > :50:19.that when it touched his head, it would not have been moving very

:50:20. > :50:43.fast. The highest opening weight, 170 kilos.

:50:44. > :50:51.Scott Wong out for his second attempt at 135. One of the lighter

:50:52. > :51:03.men in this class, weighing in at just around 120 kilos.

:51:04. > :51:16.That was very stealthy. Usually we hear the feet stomp on

:51:17. > :51:20.the ground, but he was very quiet, but very efficient. This is the man

:51:21. > :51:29.who is studying medicine, and also weightlifting. And that is a really

:51:30. > :51:39.difficult competition to manage. It really is, which is why he is

:51:40. > :51:42.working so hard to be efficient with he is a member of the team

:51:43. > :51:44.Manchester weightlifting club. The Samoan is now out to try and repair

:51:45. > :52:07.the damage. And he is shaking his head, because

:52:08. > :52:17.he feels like he wasted that first attempt. Well, he is right. Yes, but

:52:18. > :52:21.the point is, he got that one. You can only control what you are doing

:52:22. > :52:27.at that moment. He needs to forget about the first one and just go from

:52:28. > :52:38.here. Very solid catch position. That was easy. Shaking his head.

:52:39. > :52:44.So, the bar has gone up the odd K, just waiting for the countries to

:52:45. > :53:16.start playing a little bit of poker. A personal best, by one kilogram.

:53:17. > :53:31.That is what he is after here. Oh, so close. He definitely has the

:53:32. > :53:42.power. Just a little question of timing. He is saying to his coach, I

:53:43. > :53:44.did not get far enough behind it, did not get my head through in front

:53:45. > :54:04.of the elbows. So, where that leaves Lewis Chua at

:54:05. > :54:44.the halfway stage, we will see. So, Daniel Nemani on stage. A five

:54:45. > :54:48.kilograms increase. Oh, that momentum was taking him backwards.

:54:49. > :54:52.But you could see the height was there. This lift is just so

:54:53. > :54:57.unforgiving. You have to be so explosive, and yet precise. It is

:54:58. > :55:02.very hard to do both at the same time. Daniel has been here as a

:55:03. > :55:05.coach all week, not easy to do that, either. But you know that he can

:55:06. > :55:20.refocus and get that lift. So, it is going to be Scott Wong for

:55:21. > :55:31.Singapore coming out for his third attempt, and looking to make it

:55:32. > :55:36.three out of three. This is really good progress. In terms of

:55:37. > :55:39.competition, he is delivering 15 kilograms better than ever before on

:55:40. > :55:41.a competition platform. Hats off if he can do this. That is huge

:55:42. > :56:12.progress! not an issue. It looks like he is

:56:13. > :56:26.saying to his coach that he lost his grip. That is when your thumb is

:56:27. > :56:33.under bar. 135 kilograms is still a personal best for him. He is

:56:34. > :56:38.Lauititi Lui from Samoa. He is going for 140 kilograms, in his third

:56:39. > :56:44.attempt. Again, this would be ten kilograms up on the best he has ever

:56:45. > :57:02.produced in competition. That is up from last year's Pacific mini games.

:57:03. > :57:16.What a lift! That is a great way to make up from that first left. It is

:57:17. > :57:23.amazing that he is able to do this kind of lifting after just a year

:57:24. > :57:34.and a half of training. Very patient in the catch position. Very happy

:57:35. > :57:39.with that lift, Lauititi Lui. Dung Williams to come in next, taking the

:57:40. > :57:49.bar up to 142 kilograms. That is a seven kilograms increase for him.

:57:50. > :58:04.This is a blight man, at 107.34 kg. -- a light man. He is giving away

:58:05. > :58:16.some 56 kilograms to one of the other competitors!

:58:17. > :58:26.The timing was not as smooth on that. It looked to me like he might

:58:27. > :58:30.have hit lower than that last left. You really want to be consistent

:58:31. > :58:37.about where you are throwing the weight from. He just kicked it a

:58:38. > :58:42.little bit too far forward to be able to hold onto it. He might be in

:58:43. > :58:51.a position where he might have to come in and try this again. I think

:58:52. > :58:58.you will have two. He has two minutes at his disposal. There is

:58:59. > :59:03.another lifter coming in at 145 kilograms. If that had been a little

:59:04. > :59:09.bit closer he might take the risk to go up to 145 kilograms just so he

:59:10. > :59:13.had a little bit more time. And another lifter would go between his

:59:14. > :59:21.second and third lift. That would be a ten kilograms increased. This man

:59:22. > :59:25.is still a novice. That's right. You can see the hesitation he had on his

:59:26. > :59:35.lap lift. You can see the power is definitely there. Really focusing,

:59:36. > :59:41.visualising. The coaches giving him all the queues he needs to hear to

:59:42. > :00:14.get this left. -- this left. -- lift.

:00:15. > :00:24.He did not give himself a lot of time in the setup. One other thing

:00:25. > :00:30.is, when you go to the entry, sorry, to put in the entries for the

:00:31. > :00:37.competitors, it is actually blind. The competitors are not named. Once

:00:38. > :00:45.again, he did not go right into that catch position. Yes, blind in terms

:00:46. > :00:48.of the final entries, but not blind in terms of the competitors in each

:00:49. > :00:54.category, because that is published on the website. They know from which

:00:55. > :01:01.country, which athlete is going to go. That's right, but I mean you

:01:02. > :01:07.might be moving away from competition, and it turns out your

:01:08. > :01:11.competition has done the same thing, so other people might not have done

:01:12. > :01:18.what you were counting on. The first of two Canadians. This is Parminder

:01:19. > :01:27.Phangura, 34 years of age. A man who did not get their total at Delhi. We

:01:28. > :01:42.need him to start well. He needs to get his monkey off his back.

:01:43. > :01:56.Very good start! Parminder Phangura is another athlete who trains in his

:01:57. > :02:04.garage. Once in awhile when he is lacking would be edition he makes a

:02:05. > :02:10.long trip -- when he is lacking motivation, he makes the long trip

:02:11. > :02:29.to a public gym to train with other athletes.

:02:30. > :02:37.No disrespect to Parminder Phangura, it is more likely that George

:02:38. > :02:42.Kobaladze is the man who will get a medal. It will be Daniel Nemani

:02:43. > :02:54.people come on now to make his third attempt. You can see what has

:02:55. > :03:00.happened here. He lost the 140 kilograms weight, but he has put it

:03:01. > :03:03.up to 145. He feels obviously then that strength is not a problem, it

:03:04. > :03:26.was the technique. Look at that! Standing on one foot!

:03:27. > :03:36.When somebody does that, I think you can say, cheeky, but absolutely

:03:37. > :03:46.under control. You try standing on one leg, then close your eyes. It is

:03:47. > :03:51.easy to stand on one leg, but not so easy with your hand over your head,

:03:52. > :04:00.then put the weights into the equation, it becomes very

:04:01. > :04:07.interesting. So, the champion in Melbourne in 2006.

:04:08. > :04:20.Christopher Rae. He was the champion at the age of Fort team. He missed

:04:21. > :04:27.out on the Athens Olympics. He was so destroyed by that his life went

:04:28. > :04:33.awry, alcohol, cannabis, he was banned from the sport twice. He has

:04:34. > :04:43.come back from what was a horrible place. All credit to him for that.

:04:44. > :04:48.He find his way back through coaching.

:04:49. > :04:55.That is a good start. It is good to see him here. He had a nightmare

:04:56. > :05:01.journey in his life since Melbourne. It is not only what to

:05:02. > :05:07.do, but what you can overcome, so I have a lot of respect for

:05:08. > :05:13.Christopher Rae. He has spoken publicly about the challenges he

:05:14. > :05:18.faced in the dark times. He was a silver-medallist in Kuala Lumpur in

:05:19. > :05:26.1998. He went to the Olympic games in Sydney, total 360 kilograms. That

:05:27. > :05:32.was in the year 2,000. Today, conservative entry total of 340

:05:33. > :05:41.kilograms. Here is Parminder Phangura. He has gone up to 150

:05:42. > :05:53.kilograms. Still short of his personal best at 156 kilograms. He

:05:54. > :05:55.weighs 140 kilograms. That is still 23 kilograms short of Itte

:05:56. > :06:15.Detenamo. Another solid lift. One red light

:06:16. > :06:32.because of shoulder movement, but I am confident it was not a big press

:06:33. > :06:36.alt. Press out. Maybe the left arm? It only takes two white lights to

:06:37. > :07:12.get a good lift, so he is safe. So, Christopher Rae has gone up to

:07:13. > :07:16.156 kilograms. It looks like Parminder Phangura will have to come

:07:17. > :07:25.in at 155 kilograms. To whet your appetite, Darius Jokarzadeh,

:07:26. > :07:38.representing Wales, 165 kilograms is his opening total. Gordon Shaw at

:07:39. > :07:53.160 kilograms. 20 if macro, 160 kilograms, George Kobaladze, 167

:07:54. > :08:14.kilograms. -- Damon Kelly will come in at a kg. -- 160 kilograms.

:08:15. > :08:21.Now, the response changes yet again. Will there be a response from

:08:22. > :08:32.the other countries? He has bought himself a little time.

:08:33. > :08:47.Look at the size of the coach compare to this boy!

:08:48. > :08:55.The coach ways actually less than him, actually less than half as

:08:56. > :09:15.much! Great lift! He is on fire today.

:09:16. > :09:23.That is the best snatch we have seen today is so far. It is so good to

:09:24. > :09:27.see him smiling. It is great that he has found his passion again with

:09:28. > :09:32.this board. Wouldn't it be great that he could get on the podium?

:09:33. > :09:46.Lifting like this, that is how he is going to do it. Here is Parminder

:09:47. > :09:53.Phangura. It is his daughter's sixth birthday today, but he says she will

:09:54. > :09:58.not be up watching, she likes her sleep too much!

:09:59. > :10:10.He was a basketball player, got into weightlifting at 16 years of age.

:10:11. > :10:19.That was to just gain strength. A six kilograms increase. 156

:10:20. > :10:25.kilograms. Good little series if he can do this.

:10:26. > :10:43.Almost managed it. Just out front. Let's look at the replay. He was

:10:44. > :10:49.good with a height, just the direction was a little challenged.

:10:50. > :10:54.He pitted out in front. Didn't get it into the perfect position. The

:10:55. > :11:14.He pitted out in front. Didn't get perfect position is only a couple of

:11:15. > :11:30.millimetres margin. Now, a man who is massive. He is liking this. He is

:11:31. > :11:40.still a junior, only 20. Junior African champion of the season.

:11:41. > :11:50.So explosive, but when you have that much power, it is hard to control

:11:51. > :11:54.it. It just threw him back. Exactly. You can see he can get a lot more

:11:55. > :12:18.weight overhead. Just a question of stabilising it.

:12:19. > :12:22.much to repair. But it comes down to that first attempt on the platform,

:12:23. > :12:27.it is the scariest one. You do not know what to expect. This is a crazy

:12:28. > :12:30.crowd. You have got adrenaline, pressure, and you have got to

:12:31. > :12:37.control all of those things and make a precise lift. He leaves white by

:12:38. > :12:43.the Indian Ocean. I actually googled the resort where he comes from, and

:12:44. > :12:53.you have got to have a bit of money to go there! It honestly looks

:12:54. > :13:03.gorgeous. There is his team-mate helping out. KwaZulu-Natal, if you

:13:04. > :13:11.are looking for a different holiday destination. Now, this is not about

:13:12. > :13:14.a holiday, this is his day at the office. So, second attempt, still on

:13:15. > :13:39.160. He needs this to progress. APPLAUSE

:13:40. > :13:43.That momentum is definitely not on his side in that catch position, but

:13:44. > :13:53.boy did he fight for it?! And boy, did he need it?! George

:13:54. > :13:58.Kobaladze entered a total of 397, and I had him as one of the

:13:59. > :14:02.standouts for gold and silver, but this man is amongst three who I

:14:03. > :14:05.picked out as having a chance of fighting for the bronze medal. So,

:14:06. > :14:14.making this second is extremely important. Great height, just again,

:14:15. > :14:20.a little bit of momentum. He really fought against it. You can see he is

:14:21. > :14:31.shaking. Well done. I have got this guy, Damon Kelly, the defending

:14:32. > :14:34.champion, and the young Welshman, Jokarzadeh, as the three men

:14:35. > :14:42.fighting for the bronze. That is just on looking at the achievements.

:14:43. > :14:45.It could all change. But there are two fights, one for the gold and

:14:46. > :14:50.silver, and one for the bronze medal. Chris Rae coming out now.

:14:51. > :14:57.Really going for 162. This is an increase of six kilos. Just

:14:58. > :15:06.visualising, really thinking what that full extension... Well, he got

:15:07. > :15:10.that extension, but the positioning was not perfect in the catch. And he

:15:11. > :15:21.is limping off the stage. Hopefully it is nothing serious.

:15:22. > :15:31.It is the knee rather than anything else, but... Yes, that right leg.

:15:32. > :15:33.Here we go again. So, he gets that extension, it is just in the catch

:15:34. > :15:45.position, something goes wrong. For Chris Rae, that was his third

:15:46. > :15:54.attempt, so it leaves him on 156th. And the man who said to you, I have

:15:55. > :16:02.got a beard... And he is coming out to AC/DC. He is probably feeling

:16:03. > :16:07.really good right now. Oh, so close to the back of the platform. Yes,

:16:08. > :16:16.David, that was a bit scary. Do not do that again! We have not seen that

:16:17. > :16:19.yet in this competition, and I really do not care to see somebody

:16:20. > :16:24.falling off the back of the platform. But that is a great way to

:16:25. > :16:33.start with such a heavy lift, coming into this competition.

:16:34. > :16:39.Former rugby player for Souths in Australia. He started his

:16:40. > :16:52.weightlifting career at school, aged 14, at the Lawrence College. Is

:16:53. > :16:55.idols include the big Soviet heavyweight who won a couple of

:16:56. > :17:03.World Championships, and the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in

:17:04. > :17:07.Sydney. Now, well, he still could be a basketball player. Look at the

:17:08. > :17:15.size of this man! 6ft 7, size 16 feet. As I said earlier, watch the

:17:16. > :17:27.grip, he could definitely use a bigger bar. Amazing technique. You

:17:28. > :17:32.know, most people are able to grab it from the hips but because he has

:17:33. > :17:36.got such long arms, so much height, he cannot get his arms out wide

:17:37. > :17:40.enough to do that. He is actually throwing from high fives, which is

:17:41. > :17:45.not as efficient, as if he could actually get a bar which is his

:17:46. > :17:49.size. But he does have a beautiful technique, just the same. He was

:17:50. > :17:56.spotted by the rowers in this country, in their ID talent

:17:57. > :18:06.programme. And you can see, the height of him, with the leveraged

:18:07. > :18:12.that he would have ingrowing -- in rowing, I could see him in an eight.

:18:13. > :18:19.And instead, he has chosen American football! Yes! Gordon, with his last

:18:20. > :18:32.attempt in this first half of the competition. Still two men to start,

:18:33. > :18:51.one for Canada, one for Niru as well. Just could not quite get that

:18:52. > :19:10.lock out in time. George Kobaladze, well, this is a

:19:11. > :19:13.moment of truth. Here is the man who lived in Georgia before he found his

:19:14. > :19:22.way to Canada. Home for him is Quebec, with his son Luke. He began

:19:23. > :19:30.weightlifting back in 1989. As he gets ready for competitions, he

:19:31. > :19:33.reduces the number of repetitions and increases the wait. That is his

:19:34. > :19:41.methodology for getting ready for this moment. He does not have a

:19:42. > :19:44.lock-out which looks like everyone else, he has a bit of a limited

:19:45. > :19:53.range of motion. If you watch closely... Look at the legs.

:19:54. > :20:05.APPLAUSE No, two to one against, majority

:20:06. > :20:10.against. Yes, he does not have a very big

:20:11. > :20:14.range of motion in the elbows, as I said. So he looks a bit different

:20:15. > :20:20.when he does his lock-out. And then, if there is any shoulder movement...

:20:21. > :20:24.You saw it there are, the right arm press out, it was very clear,

:20:25. > :20:36.actually. And you will see it again here. Watch that right arm.

:20:37. > :20:45.More difficult to see it from that angle. Which is a bubbly why he

:20:46. > :20:52.would have got one white light. So, the bar has gone to 174 the Welsh

:20:53. > :21:01.competitor, Jokarzadeh. And Detenamo is still waiting in the wings, yet

:21:02. > :21:06.to start. So, Damon Kelly, a modest increase of four kilograms. But his

:21:07. > :21:11.power really comes in the clean and jerk. He just wants to make sure

:21:12. > :21:15.here, the defending champion, he does not make a mistake in the first

:21:16. > :21:24.half of the competition. Just wants to play it safe, to give himself

:21:25. > :21:29.that launching pad. He lost quite a bit of the season last year, he had

:21:30. > :21:36.a kind of twinge in the elbow. No twinge today! Well, that went up no

:21:37. > :21:43.problem at all. His wife and son are here in the audience. They flew all

:21:44. > :21:47.the way from Brisbane to be here for this competition. Just got here

:21:48. > :21:50.the way from Brisbane to be here for other day. A lot of excitement for

:21:51. > :21:56.the young boy. We talk about a lift being accomplished in the

:21:57. > :22:01.the young boy. We talk about a lift an eye. This guy was on and off the

:22:02. > :22:05.stage in the blink of an eye! And you can see the loaders this time to

:22:06. > :22:07.the liberty of moving the bar quite a bit further forward on the

:22:08. > :22:31.platform! There is his coach on the right.

:22:32. > :22:37.Representing Nauru, and he has already got a Commonwealth bronze

:22:38. > :22:42.from 2006, and a silver from 2010. So, if the sequence continues, he

:22:43. > :22:48.should be the champion today! If only it were that simple! So, the

:22:49. > :22:53.flag bearer from the opening ceremony. This is his opening lift,

:22:54. > :23:06.straight in at 174 the outright lead.

:23:07. > :23:16.No challenge therefore Itte Detenamo. He has done well at the

:23:17. > :23:19.Commonwealths, but his Olympic appearances have been a bit

:23:20. > :23:24.disappointing. 10th in Beijing, and then in London he had a shoulder

:23:25. > :23:27.injury which compromised his challenge. You can see there is

:23:28. > :23:32.nothing going on with those shoulders, they are solid. Oceania

:23:33. > :23:33.champion this season, totalled 400 kilos.

:23:34. > :23:40.shoulders, they are solid. Oceania champion this season, totalled And

:23:41. > :23:44.that is recent form. The Canadians are definitely taking some risks

:23:45. > :23:50.here. George got that red light on the elbow, but they are still going

:23:51. > :23:55.for 171, a jump of 40 lows, despite that missed left. -- a jump of four

:23:56. > :24:16.kilograms. George is one of the athletes I have

:24:17. > :24:21.seen that is the best at maintaining composure. He never changes his

:24:22. > :24:31.motion. I am sure here is a great poker player. Very useful in this

:24:32. > :24:37.sport. He is showing the elbows. He wants to stay on track, wants to

:24:38. > :24:44.stay close with the man from Nauru in particular.

:24:45. > :24:46.Let's see how the referees react to his elbows, now that he has pointed

:24:47. > :24:49.out his issue. Let's see how the referees react to

:24:50. > :24:56.his elbows, now that he That looked much better to me. It was all so

:24:57. > :25:01.much better. Always better to give them no reason to question your

:25:02. > :25:04.left. Just a bit curious that he did not point that out the first time.

:25:05. > :25:08.left. Just a bit curious that he did not Well, I have said its time and

:25:09. > :25:11.again, that first lift is like the first pancake! Yes, absolutely no

:25:12. > :25:28.question there, good lift. He has got a personal best of 174,

:25:29. > :25:40.George. So he is not that far away. Now, Damon Kelly attempting 171. His

:25:41. > :25:46.personal best is 176. Look at this. I tell you what, he is so powerful.

:25:47. > :25:54.He probably could light up a small village! What a perfect day for

:25:55. > :25:58.Damon Kelly. If you could turn that power into electricity... Yes, my

:25:59. > :26:24.parents always said that. here, training some weights. I used

:26:25. > :26:28.to train in a place of no electricity, and my parents always

:26:29. > :26:32.said if there was only some way to harness the energy of these lifts

:26:33. > :26:53.into something more useful! Itte Detenamo. 174 kilograms.

:26:54. > :26:57.Interestingly, the man from Wales, 175 kilograms, he is playing poker.

:26:58. > :27:09.Obviously, very confident at the moment.

:27:10. > :27:29.No hesitation. There is room for so much more. Well, we have arrived at

:27:30. > :27:35.175 kilograms, so is Darius Jokarzadeh going to come in here?

:27:36. > :27:45.The Welshman? This could be quite interesting. George Kobaladze has

:27:46. > :27:50.one more. At the moment, Itte Detenamo, their heaviest upper

:27:51. > :27:56.class. If the Welshman comes in and lifts this, courtesy of his lighter

:27:57. > :27:59.body weight, Darius Jokarzadeh is giving away almost 40 kilograms to

:28:00. > :28:16.Itte Detenamo. Well, the crowd have really got into

:28:17. > :28:22.this because they suddenly realise that a home country lifter might be

:28:23. > :28:31.in the medal mix already. So, this for the lead by virtue of a lighter

:28:32. > :28:43.body weight. He has one more attempt. A ten kilograms jump in the

:28:44. > :28:55.snatch is very difficult. It is difficult to wait for that amount of

:28:56. > :28:58.time. The height is there, he just needed a little bit more catch,

:28:59. > :29:05.getting their head in front of the arms. Maybe he needed a little bit

:29:06. > :29:10.more heights. Andrew Davies of Wales won this title back in 1990 when the

:29:11. > :29:21.weight category at that time was over 110 kilograms. So, Darius

:29:22. > :29:25.Jokarzadeh to come out again. Again, it would put him into the lead.

:29:26. > :29:30.Remember, Itte Detenamo still has another attempt to come, and

:29:31. > :29:49.likewise, George Kobaladze of Canada.

:29:50. > :29:52.Not just his height, but his demeanour, he really commands the

:29:53. > :30:06.platform. What an effort. He held onto it for

:30:07. > :30:17.as long as possible. Such a good effort. That could have been quite

:30:18. > :30:24.nasty. He got his base of support as wide as possible so he could get as

:30:25. > :30:33.low as possible. He gets onto his toes. He did everything possible to

:30:34. > :30:42.get back that lift. He was trying to stay under the bar. The reality

:30:43. > :30:48.check now is a few moments ago he was looking good to mix it with

:30:49. > :30:55.those fighting for gold. Because he has had to failure is, bronze

:30:56. > :31:03.becomes that much more realistic. He has 200 kilograms posted. I'm

:31:04. > :31:05.curious to see what he will do now. This is the chance for George

:31:06. > :31:31.Kobaladze, representing Canada. So close. He was almost able to hold

:31:32. > :31:40.on. He is back to 171 kilograms. We now know that Itte Detenamo, with a

:31:41. > :31:53.second successful attempt at 174 kilograms will lead. He was just not

:31:54. > :31:59.able to hold on. So, Itte Detenamo. This is a really important lift.

:32:00. > :32:06.Damon Kelly, the defending champion, he is on 171 kilograms. So

:32:07. > :32:09.is George Kobaladze, but he is later. He is currently the leader if

:32:10. > :32:17.you take this man out of the equation. Those are the men who are

:32:18. > :32:26.ugly second and third. This man to give himself a bigger cushion of

:32:27. > :32:35.advantage. Well, that is what we say, take nothing for granted. Just

:32:36. > :32:41.a fraction of a centimetre out of the race, that is how you miss a

:32:42. > :32:47.snatch. The only man who got three out of three, if I am correct, was

:32:48. > :32:47.Damon Kelly, the defending champion. He is right up there on 171

:32:48. > :32:55.kilograms. He is right up there on 171

:32:56. > :33:00.from our point of view, this is pretty exciting because of that

:33:01. > :33:04.failure. The competition, the first three, are separated by only three

:33:05. > :33:09.kilograms. It is a very close competition. So, Itte Detenamo

:33:10. > :33:15.looking for Commonwealth gold, three kilograms ahead of George Kobaladze,

:33:16. > :33:26.he is ahead of Damon Kelly, because of his body weight. Gordon Shaw,

:33:27. > :33:34.from South Africa, to failure is limiting his aspirations. The

:33:35. > :34:12.Melbourne champion, he is in sixth place, Christopher Rae.

:34:13. > :34:28.It is great to watch the weightlifting. We will be back for

:34:29. > :34:32.the clean and jerk. Incidentally, if you are at home and amazed that some

:34:33. > :34:36.of the weights that these guys are lifting up, for your information,

:34:37. > :34:45.the world record for clean and jerk is an incredible 260 kilograms. That

:34:46. > :34:53.is the equivalent of 40 stone! It is eye watering! If that is a sport

:34:54. > :34:58.that might have taken your fancy, and there are 17 sports showcased

:34:59. > :35:04.here at the games, if you fancy taking one of them up, go to our

:35:05. > :35:14.website, get inspired, and you can find all sorts of information.

:35:15. > :35:28.Details of any local clubs for the various sports. We always love to

:35:29. > :35:32.hear from you, to find out where you are watching the Commonwealth Games,

:35:33. > :35:40.even if you are at home or around the venues that are hosting

:44:06. > :44:14.Glasgow made its name as an industrial city. Its wealth was

:44:24. > :44:29.on grit. But from the vast industry came great art, which put Glasgow on

:44:30. > :44:36.a world stage. Bricks, mortar, people and river created a cultural

:44:37. > :44:39.history to be proud of. In the 18th and 19th centuries, Glasgow's

:44:40. > :44:44.fortunes were made on the River Clyde. Perfectly positioned on the

:44:45. > :44:48.west coast, Glasgow faced the Atlantic and the British colonies

:44:49. > :44:55.which lay beyond. This river connected Glasgow to the world.

:44:56. > :44:59.First, tobacco, cotton and two brought wealth, building a positive

:45:00. > :45:04.legacy in fine architecture, but with negative ties to slavery. Then

:45:05. > :45:08.came the shipbuilding which would make Glasgow the second city of

:45:09. > :45:13.Empire. In the late 19th century, Glasgow was one of the richest

:45:14. > :45:17.cities in Europe, and full with self-confidence. It was determined

:45:18. > :45:24.to prove that it was not just an industrial city, it was a cultural

:45:25. > :45:30.one, too. The centuries-old Glasgow University had dreaming spires

:45:31. > :45:33.designed by Gilbert Scott. The Mitchell library opened, later

:45:34. > :45:38.becoming the biggest public reference library in Europe. And

:45:39. > :45:43.shipping barons like William Burrell travelled the world, collecting art.

:45:44. > :45:46.But while he was bringing an international flavour to Glasgow,

:45:47. > :45:52.Glaswegian artist were making their own impact on the world. In 1896,

:46:04. > :46:11.Vienna to Moscow, and his place was cemented as one of the leading

:46:12. > :46:14.figures of the art nouveau movement. Glasgow was flexing its industrial

:50:29. > :50:46.the lead. Uncertainty, hesitation. That jerk is the best of all of the

:50:47. > :50:53.lifts I have seen him do. Rate timing and great driver overhead.

:50:54. > :50:56.The clean, however, when we see it again, I would like to see how high

:50:57. > :51:03.he started his hips. He is definitely a lot more back dominant

:51:36. > :51:41.Actually at this moment in time, home is Auckland in New Zealand.

:51:42. > :52:02.Very close association between the two countries. He can go further!

:52:03. > :52:08.Oh, yes. Daniel has been coaching all week and I wonder how, as a

:52:09. > :52:12.coach, you feel that energy, when the athlete is out on the stage, it

:52:13. > :52:18.must really get you excited to have your turn, soaking it up. It is a

:52:19. > :52:23.noticeable move by the Oceania lifters, that they have already

:52:24. > :52:29.taken on a coaching responsibility. It is interesting that they do that.

:52:30. > :52:38.I wonder whether that will become infectious in other parts of the

:52:39. > :52:45.world as well. Yes, I would really like to see that. It is really great

:52:46. > :52:54.to have someone who understands it. So, the athlete from Singapore,

:52:55. > :52:56.Lewis Chua. He got 133 kilograms successfully in the first half. So

:52:57. > :53:07.he is coming successfully in the first half. So

:53:08. > :53:21.four second-place. -- for second-place. More importantly, he

:53:22. > :53:53.will have a total. So, Lewis Chua, only 22 years of age.

:53:54. > :54:01.Excellent. That is so light for him. I would like to see a ten kilograms

:54:02. > :54:22.jump. No problems at all. Louise has a sister who competed,

:54:23. > :54:29.came sixth earlier in the week. His father is a manager. There are two

:54:30. > :54:36.families here. There is no one else on the team, nobody who is part of

:54:37. > :54:42.team Samoa who has not brought a relative. It is pretty awesome. So,

:54:43. > :54:57.we are in the skirmishing stage at the moment. This is Lauititi Lui.

:54:58. > :55:04.315. Challenging the man from Niue for the lead. Which he will get by

:55:05. > :55:10.virtue of his lighter body weight, if... That was a rough first

:55:11. > :55:15.attempt, but again, it is so hard to control the nerves and fear involved

:55:16. > :55:28.in that first lift. I think we can expect a more solid attempt second

:55:29. > :55:34.time around. So, Samoa leads Niue at the moment. His feet are very wide,

:55:35. > :55:45.it is hard to generate force, when your feet are that wide. The next

:55:46. > :55:52.one will be cleaner, and I am sure a lot easier. So, Williams, for

:55:53. > :55:58.Nigeria, is on. Second attempt, he has put the bar up five kilograms.

:55:59. > :56:03.Working to his own plan, this would take him to 310, and would put him

:56:04. > :56:20.up from fourth to third, for the moment. Left the bar in front, hips

:56:21. > :56:26.went behind, and actually he was a long way from getting that. Yes, he

:56:27. > :56:30.did not set up for his jerk in a way which would have given him a good

:56:31. > :56:36.chance of being successful. His coach is giving him some technical

:56:37. > :56:39.feedback. The clean is not too bad at all. Then the feet do not really

:56:40. > :56:45.bring him into the best edition. He does not really are just and give

:56:46. > :56:54.himself that patient wait before driving hard overhead. Question here

:56:55. > :57:01.for the Nigerians - should they put a kilo on and buy him a bit more

:57:02. > :57:07.time for this third attempt? He is on 176, Nemani has posted 176 for

:57:08. > :57:17.his third attempt. So he might gain a little time. But it does not look

:57:18. > :57:22.like it, the way they are setting up. There is one more coach in this

:57:23. > :57:36.team, and I think they may be at the table. Well, 175, still there. Look

:57:37. > :57:41.at the Niue coaches! They look after Daniel Nemani, and he is on 176th.

:57:42. > :57:47.They were right there, ready to strike with a new weight increase,

:57:48. > :57:56.had the Nigerians decided to push it up. It is tough being a coach,

:57:57. > :57:57.because you do not want to alert the athletes to the fact that they may

:57:58. > :58:25.be next. a 50% success rate. That was his

:58:26. > :58:28.hardness clean, he really had to set himself up. It is better than his

:58:29. > :58:46.last setup. It looks like he hurt his knee in

:58:47. > :58:55.the dip. I wonder if it was also cramp but it looks like it was his

:58:56. > :58:58.knee. Both doctors in very quickly. They are covering up the stage to

:58:59. > :59:13.give the athlete some privacy here. This is the first time we have seen

:59:14. > :59:23.anything really traumatic in these games. You can see the clean was not

:59:24. > :59:34.easy, he was getting into a good addition to set up. -- a good

:59:35. > :59:43.position. He feels quite a bit of pain in that dip phase. The worst

:59:44. > :59:48.injury you can have with your need is a cruciate ligament but when that

:59:49. > :59:54.happens, with no disrespect to anybody, you usually hear a big

:59:55. > :00:04.screen because it is one of the most painful injuries. -- a big scream.

:00:05. > :00:08.No matter what it is, it is not a good way to end your Commonwealth

:00:25. > :00:41.Sadly, he finishes his challenge. But he does have a total. That's

:00:42. > :00:48.right and that is something to be proud of. He is very close to a 105

:00:49. > :00:56.so maybe we will see him in the future in that class. He finishes on

:00:57. > :01:02.305. We cannot really tell what that was in terms of his previous

:01:03. > :01:10.performances but on we move with a six kilograms increase here for the

:01:11. > :01:16.man from Niue. This would take him to 321 which would put him back in

:01:17. > :01:33.the lead on this, his second attempt. Daniel Nemani.

:01:34. > :01:44.He does have this awkward stance. He is being patient but does it ever

:01:45. > :01:51.work! He is harnessing the power of this crowd today. APPLAUSE

:01:52. > :02:00.And it is really important he is enjoying himself. He has gone to

:02:01. > :02:07.321. He has got a much bigger personal best but what is important

:02:08. > :02:13.is that he is lifting to his plan. That is the fourth success out of

:02:14. > :02:20.five. It is really fun to come out knowing you have only one left left

:02:21. > :02:32.and you can make it an awesome one. Look at that celebration from his

:02:44. > :02:49.could see when that announcement came, he looked back, a little

:03:26. > :03:33.can go much much further. Maybe he might put himself into the fight for

:03:34. > :03:43.the bronze medal. What a high catch. Such a solid jerk. Wondering if that

:03:44. > :03:46.high catch had something to do with that leg pain we saw earlier after

:03:47. > :04:00.the snatch. Whatever happens, if he does want to

:10:10. > :10:14.336 so this would take him into second place with his first attempt.

:10:15. > :10:17.But most importantly it would give him a total, something he did not

:10:18. > :10:20.leave Delhi with so he will be buried keen to get this first lift

:10:21. > :10:30.-- very keen. No problem with the clean, very

:10:31. > :10:48.smooth. Excellent timing on that jerk. Yes,

:10:49. > :10:53.a sigh of relief. We are probably going to see more red lights as

:10:54. > :10:57.these weights go up because of the oscillation of the bar, it ends so

:10:58. > :11:02.much. As the athletes locked out, they will get kickback and there

:11:03. > :11:09.will be movement in their shoulders as well so you can anticipate more

:11:10. > :11:19.difficulty getting solid lock-outs from here on in. The bar is still on

:11:20. > :11:25.185 kilos for the appearance of Gordon Shaw of South Africa. He had

:11:26. > :11:28.160 from the snatch phase, only got one out of three but this would put

:11:29. > :11:45.him into the outright lead. He touched his knee with the elbow.

:11:46. > :11:51.We have seen a lot of that. He gets really low, that is one of the

:11:52. > :12:00.problems with getting low, it is hard to stay upright and keep your

:12:01. > :12:04.elbows high. The weight just slid down his shoulders, just needs to

:12:05. > :12:34.keep his elbows higher and that would not have happened.

:12:35. > :12:40.Nigeria who had that unfortunate knee injury, they have strapped him

:12:41. > :12:43.up and taken him to the medical centre in the village and he will be

:12:44. > :12:52.thoroughly checked out there but we just hope it is nothing too serious.

:12:53. > :12:57.Of course they will be cautious. Gordon Shaw has to come out again.

:12:58. > :13:04.My worry for him, he only got one out of three, this would take him up

:13:05. > :13:05.to 345 and would put him in the lead but these misses are becoming

:13:06. > :13:29.expensive. only 20, and he is the junior

:13:30. > :13:34.African champion. So, his competition experience is limited.

:13:35. > :13:48.He went to the junior world's this year as well. He gets it onto the

:13:49. > :13:54.shoulders there. And then quite strong overhead. The junior worlds

:13:55. > :13:59.were not that long ago, so maybe he is feeling a bit fatigued after all

:14:00. > :14:09.of the international travel, coming all the way from South Africa. Now,

:14:10. > :14:33.Lauititi Lui you for Samoa. So gutsy. That bar was not moving

:14:34. > :14:37.very fast at all. He managed to get it to his hips, although it was

:14:38. > :14:46.slow, and throw himself under the bar just the same. What a fight.

:14:47. > :14:55.Well, he is 18. Is previous best was 298. That is 33 kilos better. Such a

:14:56. > :14:59.fighter. Those bars you have got to let go of, does that is a high risk

:15:00. > :15:07.for injury, when it isn't spinning like that. He was so brave to throw

:15:08. > :15:15.himself under that clean. Lewis Chua to come out now. Again, a limited

:15:16. > :15:24.increase, just three kilograms. Just a reminder that Kelly of Australia,

:15:25. > :15:32.and three of the others, none of them have yet started. So, Lewis

:15:33. > :15:38.Chua. Looks as if he is having a bit of fun out here. He never will have

:15:39. > :15:52.heard a noise like this before in a competition. Very few people have

:15:53. > :16:04.had the pleasure of lifting in front the crowd like this. That was the

:16:05. > :16:13.three extra kilos which really just put him over the edge. Nonetheless,

:16:14. > :16:21.he has done his stuff on the day. He finishes on 315. And 315 still

:16:22. > :16:24.represents an improvement by eight kilos over anything that he has done

:16:25. > :16:36.in a competition before. So there are some positives for sometimes it

:16:37. > :16:41.is difficult to reproduce everything in the third lift. Poor old

:16:42. > :16:46.Williams, that we understand that he has got a rupture of the tendon in

:16:47. > :16:51.the quadricep. It sounds quite nasty and it is rather nasty. They are

:16:52. > :16:54.taking him off to accident and emergency, and he will get the best

:16:55. > :17:03.treatment there. But that is a long-term repair. It is. Back to the

:17:04. > :17:10.present now, and Chris Rae, now coming in for a six kilo increase.

:17:11. > :17:13.This is where he gets serious, to see whether he can grab a

:17:14. > :17:24.Commonwealth Games medal. The member, he got one in: Umpire in

:17:25. > :17:33.1998. He got one in 2006. -- in koala bear

:17:34. > :17:40.he was definitely cleaning differently on that first lift.

:17:41. > :17:47.I think he is saying, that is it. I think he realises, along with his

:17:48. > :17:52.coach, that taking a third attempt at this stage would be foolish. All

:17:53. > :17:57.we can say is, live to fight another day. That's right. You have to think

:17:58. > :18:05.long-term as well as chasing that medal. Because these are big guys,

:18:06. > :18:14.he is 34, but the Canadian, Kobaladze, is 38. So, fight another

:18:15. > :18:23.day, try and qualify for Brisbane, in four years' time. Exactly, home

:18:24. > :18:27.crowd, save it for that day. He has injured his knee before, so he knows

:18:28. > :18:34.when it is time to push, and when it is time to recover. So, one by one,

:18:35. > :18:40.the field is being reduced to those who have a chance for a medal. David

:18:41. > :18:45.Kelly, George Kobaladze of Australia, sorry, Canada, and the

:18:46. > :18:52.next man to come out will be the Canadian Parminder Phangura. He has

:18:53. > :18:58.posted 190 for his second attempt if you will also have two fight

:18:59. > :19:14.Jokarzadeh from Wales, and also Detenamo.

:19:15. > :19:27.Gordon Shaw first of all, at 190. Phangura put the bar to 191. So,

:19:28. > :19:36.Gordon Shaw, to finish off his first Commonwealth Games, and this would

:19:37. > :19:47.be for a 350 total. The best clean of the day, with that timing there.

:19:48. > :19:52.That was how he wanted to start. That was very, very solid and

:19:53. > :19:56.straightforward. It is really hard to come back from a competition

:19:57. > :20:02.where you have bombed out, and come onto a stage like this just a month

:20:03. > :20:06.later. He may have only made three out of six, but when you look at

:20:07. > :20:13.what the 28-year-old has achieved, 310 was his previous best. He has

:20:14. > :20:17.actually notched up 350 kilos by the improvements he has made in the

:20:18. > :20:23.snatch phase, and now in the clean and jerk. So, that is something he

:20:24. > :20:33.will take back to Africa and work on for the future. Now, we go back to

:20:34. > :20:34.Canada, and the situation on the leaderboard is that 350 leads the

:20:35. > :21:03.way. Simple clean. Not too much trouble

:21:04. > :21:06.with that jerk. A little bit of spinning, but he did not seem to

:21:07. > :21:12.have a problem getting it under control. So, he stays in second

:21:13. > :21:25.place, but creeps ever closer. He has got one more attempt.

:21:26. > :21:36.So, Jokarzadeh, on 196, I think is going to be the next guy in. And he

:21:37. > :21:39.really needs to make the first attempt if he is going to have a

:21:40. > :21:50.shout of the bronze medal. Because when he comes in at 196, he is

:21:51. > :21:54.facing athletes who, well... Jokarzadeh IS going to be the next

:21:55. > :21:59.man in, because the Canadian coaches have decided that they are going up

:22:00. > :22:02.five kilos. That will be his third attempt. This is the Welshman's

:22:03. > :22:15.first attempt, which is why he is in now. So, 196 kilos on the bar. That

:22:16. > :22:20.is to go with the 165 snatch which he got in the first part of the

:22:21. > :22:31.competition. So, this will be for 361, to put him directly into first

:22:32. > :22:39.place. Talk about giant strides. They are worried that his costume

:22:40. > :22:42.has not been zipped at the back. His coach is getting in trouble, you are

:22:43. > :22:54.not allowed out onto the field of play, onto the stage.

:22:55. > :23:04.What a lift! I am really curious to see where he is going with this,

:23:05. > :23:10.David. You know, in the clean and jerk, he is so tall, the grip he

:23:11. > :23:16.takes is almost as wide as some of the girls we see in the 48

:23:17. > :23:20.kilograms, doing the snatch lift. The reality is, he is only one of

:23:21. > :23:31.five men who are very much alive in this finale. Yes, very explosive.

:23:32. > :23:39.But it is a bit more like raw power. Yes, he has been identified for

:23:40. > :23:48.various sports, but he works very, very hard to get those big numbers.

:23:49. > :23:54.So, the bar goes up to 200 kilos. It is going to be Damon Kelly, the

:23:55. > :24:03.defending champion. A very calculated set of attempts in the

:24:04. > :24:10.snatch phase. Unsurprisingly, he has just put this up to 203. This is

:24:11. > :24:20.where he wants to make his mark. At 203, he is actually seven kilos shy

:24:21. > :24:24.of Etta Nama, and 12 kilos shy of Kobaladze, who, if those figures are

:24:25. > :24:34.correct, be feeling pretty confident backstage.

:24:35. > :24:42.This brings back the other Canadian, Phangura. He has put the bar to 201.

:24:43. > :24:44.This brings back the other Canadian, And there is only 30 seconds now for

:24:45. > :24:49.him to get out there. They are in trouble here, because this is a ten

:24:50. > :24:55.kilo increase. I think they need to get moving. He has got to go

:24:56. > :25:02.straight to the bar. He has got to get that belt done up. A little time

:25:03. > :25:11.pressure might help him. Ten seconds, he has just looked at the

:25:12. > :25:14.clock. Counting down. Here we go. And that was too late. Not enough

:25:15. > :25:21.time. He was never settled. Bad management. Also a very gutsy move,

:25:22. > :25:31.a ten kilo jump between the second and third. Very bold, but there was

:25:32. > :25:33.a medal on the line, and maybe he thought he could convince his heart

:25:34. > :25:41.and mind once he stepped onto the platform.

:25:42. > :25:59.Damon Kelly, 374, that is what he is looking at, if he can achieve this.

:26:00. > :26:13.It would be four out of four. And now you can see the majority of

:26:14. > :26:21.this man. In the snatch phase, he was on and off like a rabbit. Here,

:26:22. > :26:28.much more patient. Bigger weights, taking his time, very professional.

:26:29. > :26:32.And that was only two up. You can see how he is just throwing that

:26:33. > :26:37.weight around. It is no surprise, because he does have the, freckled,

:26:38. > :26:41.at 221. This is quite a bit lower, but there is still the pressure. --

:26:42. > :26:51.he does have the Commonwealth record. No trouble at all. Now, I

:26:52. > :26:55.sense they are going to unwind him on the second and third attempts.

:26:56. > :26:59.Potentially he has a bit of ground to make up. This is the Aussie

:27:00. > :27:04.coaching time looking at their opponents. Now, it is Itte Detenamo,

:27:05. > :27:09.who wants to make sure of HIS total. opponents. Now, it is Itte Detenamo,

:27:10. > :27:18.who wants to make sure This would take him to 384. We keep comparing

:27:19. > :27:24.this to poker. Darius from Wales' second attempt is 220. So he is

:27:25. > :27:28.playing some high-stakes poker here. Of course he can come down, but he

:27:29. > :27:42.had to do so before the wake is loaded to what he wants to be at. --

:27:43. > :27:48.before the wait. Very rarely do you see anybody taking 14 extra kilos.

:27:49. > :27:54.What worries me is, in a sense, I feel that he might have the power,

:27:55. > :28:00.but it is a little bit like young giraffe, with his legs. Yes, he has

:28:01. > :28:06.got some technical issues with his back foot, on the jerk. That is

:28:07. > :28:08.shifting his balance forward, and that could be what gets him, with a

:28:09. > :28:30.weight like to 20. -- like 220. is where the Australians are on the

:28:31. > :28:32.drive for home. They see it get unarmoured as their biggest threat

:28:33. > :28:47.although you cannot rule out Kobaladze. -- it'd get unarmoured --

:28:48. > :28:53.Itte Detenamo. George has a wicked clean and jerk and they are looking

:28:54. > :29:01.to use it as their secret weapon. Damon Kelly has one minute. His

:29:02. > :29:09.coach is aware of what he has in terms of time. If he gets there with

:29:10. > :29:16.about 30 seconds to go, he has time. Tightening his belt. One thing that

:29:17. > :29:21.he will not be liking right now is that nobody else has come out to

:29:22. > :29:27.left. He is playing it conservative. He still has one

:29:28. > :29:29.attempt that he can save for later if he needs it, to be a lot more

:29:30. > :29:43.aggressive. That could be defining. He may want

:29:44. > :29:50.to go up anyway just to see what he needs to stay in the game. If he

:29:51. > :29:56.stays at 212 and George goes up to 215, he has no shot for the podium.

:29:57. > :30:05.He has a gold and silver but not a bronze. Itte Detenamo has up bronze

:30:06. > :30:22.and silver but not a gold. I think Damon wants nothing but gold! Darius

:30:23. > :30:31.Jokarzadeh has come down to 212. He had 220, he has come down, this is

:30:32. > :30:38.ridiculous. This is 16 kilos! It is actually 18. It is big maths, we are

:30:39. > :30:46.not used to this much when we are calculating!

:30:47. > :30:56.No, it is 16! I just like to overcome at the size!

:30:57. > :31:05.He has got to put some weight into the back foot. That is what we were

:31:06. > :31:13.highlighting, we thought he could do the first part. He just has two

:31:14. > :31:18.shift his heel off the ground and put some weight into his toes and

:31:19. > :31:24.end his knee and he can shift the weight evenly over both feet. You

:31:25. > :31:31.still have Damon Kelly, Darius Jokarzadeh is in second place, of

:31:32. > :31:36.Canada has not started and neither has it to get unarmoured. -- Itte

:31:37. > :31:51.Detenamo. He really needs this lift and nobody

:31:52. > :32:05.is going to be coming in at this weight. I think Damon will be going

:32:06. > :32:20.up. 377 kilos for Darius Jokarzadeh. Although, when you look

:32:21. > :32:21.at the previous best for him in the Junior World Championship last year,

:32:22. > :32:49.173, 202, 375. It is weird that Darius has been

:32:50. > :32:56.called out at 212 if Damon Kelly actually wants 212, it should be him

:32:57. > :33:00.right now so that is why there is a pause. Either way, Darius has an

:33:01. > :33:08.advantage because the clock has not stopped at him. This is a scoreboard

:33:09. > :33:21.error right now. You are right, it should be Damon to

:33:22. > :33:39.come out if it is 212. If we assume, and it is only an

:33:40. > :33:46.assumption, that Kobaladze and Detenamo are going into a

:33:47. > :33:51.head-to-head Apple, Darius Jokarzadeh here for Wales and Damon

:33:52. > :33:58.Kelly are battling for bronze Ash macro head-to-head -- head-to-head

:33:59. > :34:09.battle. Everything has to be perfect when

:34:10. > :34:14.you come out to lift, you don't want pain in your hands when you are

:34:15. > :34:23.trying to lift 212 kilos over your head. They have fixed the order as

:34:24. > :34:30.well here. This is changing things a bit. He has about two minutes to

:34:31. > :34:35.sort his hands out. I thought Kelly would go up because the Australians

:34:36. > :34:48.would look at the Welshman and would try to force him in. They are going

:34:49. > :35:00.to change it. Now the Welsh have got to decide what they do. Will they go

:35:01. > :35:06.up to 213? All the time, what will they do? It looks like he is

:35:07. > :35:11.changing it. He has 50 seconds left and they have the power to do that.

:35:12. > :35:20.No, they are going for it. The clock was already counting down. It is the

:35:21. > :35:23.second phase. Can he shift some weight into that back foot? That is

:35:24. > :35:39.the big question. I think all that has been going on

:35:40. > :35:45.backstage has just got into him. As it is, he is in the silver medal

:35:46. > :35:56.position. Damon Kelly is leading at the moment. All that Jokarzadeh can

:35:57. > :36:01.do is watch and wait. Remember, Ben Watson last night for England, he

:36:02. > :36:06.thought that all was lost but 15 minutes later he was the bronze

:36:07. > :36:14.medallist. That's right. Damon Kelly here, he is leaving, he knows he is

:36:15. > :36:15.guaranteed a medal whatever. The only thing we don't know is the

:36:16. > :36:36.colour. The bar is at 215. This was the

:36:37. > :36:47.announced entry total for Detenamo. Kobaladze has gone up to 216 kilos.

:36:48. > :36:53.What Damon wants to do is make sure his third attempt is higher than

:36:54. > :37:01.George's first attempt so he does have a chance of staying ahead of

:37:02. > :37:04.him. George lifted 223 last November in the World Championships and that

:37:05. > :37:11.was his best ever series and best about statistics. -- best ever

:37:12. > :37:23.statistics. They have switched around. Kobaladze at 216. This is

:37:24. > :37:33.what I call the moment of truth. He is so composed all the time. Yet he

:37:34. > :37:49.unleashes so much rough on this bar. This would take to 387 kilos.

:37:50. > :38:07.The bend on that hard... Pretty straightforward! -- on that bar.

:38:08. > :38:16.387. To put this into context, the Commonwealth Games total record is

:38:17. > :38:27.397, held by Detenamo. There is so much swing happening, he uses that

:38:28. > :38:32.bend to his advantage. Damon Kelly's clean and jerk Commonwealth

:38:33. > :38:38.Games record is 221 and that is under threat. No question, most

:38:39. > :38:41.people would be jumping more than five kilos from a first attempt of

:38:42. > :38:55.216. 390, for first place. And to

:38:56. > :39:08.re-establish his advantage. No worries! If George is tough and

:39:09. > :39:12.strong, so is this guy. And he has the advantage of responding to

:39:13. > :39:21.George's changes and that may come into play. Look at that swing on the

:39:22. > :39:31.bar. So fast into that perfect overhead catch position.

:39:32. > :39:43.Detenamo is being called out as 217 but actually it is Damon Kelly

:39:44. > :39:48.coming out. Interesting about Detenamo, in the oceanic

:39:49. > :39:54.Championships in May, he clean and jerked 223, Kobaladze it did it in

:39:55. > :40:02.the World Championships so they are buried close together. -- very

:40:03. > :40:13.close. Damon Kelly, five kilo increase and this takes him to 379.

:40:14. > :40:20.He is going to need this if he has any chance of changing his position

:40:21. > :40:28.from third. CHEERING What a gutsy lift! And look at the

:40:29. > :40:35.coaching staff celebrating. Now they had to sit back and wait. George as

:40:36. > :40:45.to make his next lift to take second position once again.

:40:46. > :40:58.Now it is all about Kobaladze and Detenamo. The bar has gone to 222,

:40:59. > :41:03.to try to take away the clean and jerk record that belongs to Damon

:41:04. > :41:17.Kelly from the deli Commonwealth Games. -- from the Commonwealth

:41:18. > :41:25.Games in Delhi. In fact, Detenamo will come in and do exactly what

:41:26. > :41:34.George was proposing but George has gone up to 223. Trying to take the

:41:35. > :41:40.edge and Detenamo has been put in. This could be very interesting. To

:41:41. > :41:47.take a six kilo advantage at this particular point, he is getting the

:41:48. > :41:49.kilos on the R and that puts a bit more pressure on George -- on the

:41:50. > :42:05.bar. CHEERING

:42:06. > :42:10.He is so confident about his jerk. Yes, it was not easy but competence

:42:11. > :42:17.is definitely the thing in that jerk. He has a new Commonwealth

:42:18. > :42:23.Games clean and jerk record but that is irrelevant. He has not won this

:42:24. > :42:28.title, he has had bronze and silver. This clean really does bury him but

:42:29. > :42:40.he gets it up with fuel brute strength knowing he has jerk in his

:42:41. > :42:48.back pocket -- pure brute strength. 396 is just one kilogram short of

:42:49. > :42:55.the total record. Now Kobaladze trying to do that. He is trying to

:42:56. > :43:02.chase the gold medal, he could have put on 218 to try to surpass Damon

:43:03. > :43:24.Kelly for silver but he is going for 223 to push Detenamo to lift more.

:43:25. > :43:36.And what a clean. Well, he clearly made the right choice there. That

:43:37. > :43:40.was no big deal for George. OK, so he has got the clean and jerk

:43:41. > :43:47.record. Does not really matter a jot. What matters now is the fact

:43:48. > :43:54.that this is where Detenamo and George, they come down to their last

:43:55. > :44:25.throw of the dice. Remember, George was three kilos down at the halfway

:44:26. > :44:54.stage. Now, the body weight comes into it here as well. Kobaladze,

:44:55. > :45:11.Detenamo, much heavier. You have to factor or that in. Detenamo has got

:45:12. > :45:31.to lift that little bit more. He has got a two kilo caution. It was

:45:32. > :45:33.three, at half-time. Take one kilo off because of the extra body weight

:45:34. > :45:34.that the Nauru lifter has. Well, they have both gone 228. There comes

:45:35. > :45:35.a point where you have to be honest and realistic with yourself. But

:45:36. > :45:36.George Willis has the advantage because he has already got his

:45:37. > :45:36.silver, he has nothing left to lose. He will be trying to push

:45:37. > :45:37.Detenamo out of his comfort zone. That is the kind of game the coaches

:45:38. > :45:38.will be playing. He wants George to lift first. This is the best game of

:45:39. > :45:39.poker we have seen so far, happening right before us on the scoreboard.

:45:40. > :45:40.Imagine this as a poker table. $1000 bills going down. That is where we

:45:41. > :45:41.are now. That's right. That is exactly what this is. And now, we

:45:42. > :45:44.have actually got an athlete coming out... No, there is a change. You

:45:45. > :45:53.can see the Canadian coach at the table. He has got to go 229 - and he

:45:54. > :45:58.has! There comes a point where they could both get each other into

:45:59. > :46:05.trouble. Remember, both men in their last major competitions, clean and

:46:06. > :46:13.jerk, did 223. They are both around that area, but now they are really

:46:14. > :46:21.pushing just if they both get it wrong, if they vote fail, Detenamo

:46:22. > :46:26.will end up with the gold medal. We are so lucky as an audience to have

:46:27. > :46:30.the chance to see two athletes going for eight kilograms over what the

:46:31. > :46:33.Commonwealth Games record was at for eight kilograms over what the

:46:34. > :46:38.start of for eight kilograms over what the

:46:39. > :47:11.kilos. Detenamo to go first. No. So, he leads, but now it is down

:47:12. > :47:16.to Kobaladze. This is something that happens when you play this

:47:17. > :47:17.high-stakes poker. He went up seven kilos, and when you have just got

:47:18. > :47:20.crushed by a wait and you are trying seven kilos more, it is not easy,

:47:21. > :47:26.David. DAVID GOLDSTROM: This is when the

:47:27. > :47:31.coaches look back and think, should we have done that?

:47:32. > :47:38.JEANE LASSEN: It does not really matter, because this man has the

:47:39. > :47:48.last left. So, he leads by two kilos. But here comes George

:47:49. > :47:53.Kobaladze. Remember, the bar has gone up six kilos. If the man in

:47:54. > :48:01.your picture lifts this, he is the champion. If he does not, it goes to

:48:02. > :48:12.Nauru. Can he clean? What a clean. Can he jerk? What a jerk! Three

:48:13. > :48:18.white lights! And Canada have regained the title. George

:48:19. > :48:30.Kobaladze, a bronze medallist four years ago, at the age of 38, has

:48:31. > :48:34.become super heavyweight champion of the Commonwealth. What a lift. That

:48:35. > :48:41.was not even that hard. I really wonder what he could have done if he

:48:42. > :48:45.had needed to. I wonder if he could have got three more kilos.

:48:46. > :48:53.Unbelievable confidence in himself and his ability. Have a look at

:48:54. > :49:01.this. Great clean. Fantastic push overhead. A lot of show the movement

:49:02. > :49:05.-- shoulder movement, but no question, that was locked out, and

:49:06. > :49:16.that was a good lift. That was a great lift. And what a way to put

:49:17. > :49:22.his name in the record books. 1978, the only previous Canadian to win

:49:23. > :49:29.this superheavyweight title, Jeane Lassen, and now you have got George

:49:30. > :49:34.Kobaladze, he is the man! Yes, he definitely is the man. The first

:49:35. > :49:40.time he ever represented Canada was in 2009. So, these are the clean and

:49:41. > :49:46.jerk contributions to what has been a fabulous battle. And you can see,

:49:47. > :49:54.Kobaladze, 229, a massive personal best, really dominated the clean and

:49:55. > :50:04.jerk. The one table but you are really looking forward to, if you

:50:05. > :50:14.are a Canadian, is this one. He wins it by 400. Damon Kelly gets the

:50:15. > :50:20.bronze, having previously won gold and silver. And Jokarzadeh, for

:50:21. > :50:32.Wales, what a future this young man has got. He will come back and he

:50:33. > :50:35.will be a danger over the next four, eight years, it is entirely up to

:50:36. > :50:37.him, if his appetite remains for this sport.

:50:38. > :50:47.That sets us up perfectly for a terrific evening sport. We have got

:50:48. > :50:53.athletics at Hampden Park, and medals to be decided also in the

:50:54. > :51:00.artistic gymnastics. But we are going to head over to our own team,

:51:01. > :51:03.as we go over to the diving, for the men's three metres springboard

:51:04. > :51:06.final, which starts just after six o'clock. Helen Skelton and Leon

:51:07. > :51:15.Taylor are there for us. Yes, we had a great night here last

:51:16. > :51:25.night, two gold medals and one silver, it could not have got any

:51:26. > :51:31.better for Team England. Yes, we have got three Englishmen and a

:51:32. > :51:35.Scotsman in this final coming up. James is diving his socks off for

:51:36. > :51:40.Scotland. I think all of his family are here. And for Team England, the

:51:41. > :51:49.support for them was fabulous as well. Topping the table once again.

:51:50. > :51:54.It is worth saying thank you to Sir Peter Heatley, who has loaned us

:51:55. > :52:00.this incredible medal, which was won in 1954, in Vancouver, on the three

:52:01. > :52:03.metres springboard. He has been keeping us up to date and telling us

:52:04. > :52:10.what has been going on. I have promised to give it back. I have

:52:11. > :52:15.just had my picture taken with it. I love it! So, that is the first final

:52:16. > :52:20.we have got tonight, before we turn our attention to the women's 10m

:52:21. > :52:30.platform. If you are of a nervous disposition, be careful, it is

:52:31. > :52:37.incredible. We have got three girls in that one. Yes, Vicky Vincent, the

:52:38. > :52:42.youngest competitor in this competition, 13 years old, fabulous

:52:43. > :52:47.effort this morning from her. Sarah Barrow, a little bit off her game

:52:48. > :52:54.still, and Tonia, her final dive, slight mistake, so all to play for.

:52:55. > :52:58.She goes third from last. Olympic medallist in this event. It will be

:52:59. > :53:06.tough to get onto the podium, but she might be up for it. In the

:53:07. > :53:15.meantime we will just have a few more pictures with this one, back to

:53:16. > :53:20.you. Time for some badminton now. And it is a family affair in the

:53:21. > :53:25.mixed doubles. Husband-and-wife pairing Chris and Gabby Adcock only

:53:26. > :53:31.needed 26 minutes to see off yesterday's opponents from Northern

:53:32. > :53:41.Ireland. Next up for the pairing was a tough challenge from Malaysia. All

:53:42. > :53:47.of those little errors that we saw in the team competition seem to have

:53:48. > :53:52.been ironed out. He has been back on the practice court, heaving himself

:53:53. > :54:14.the belief again. And that is just wonderful.

:54:15. > :54:22.Well, one of the things Peter was saying before the second game was

:54:23. > :54:23.that Vivian can run out of patience from the back of the court, and that

:54:24. > :55:18.is exactly what happened there. There is the coach, gold medallist

:55:19. > :55:22.four years ago. Well, I like that coaching. You are doing great, keep

:55:23. > :55:24.doing what you are doing, keep the intensity. Not over complicating

:55:25. > :56:30.things. That was good tactics by the

:56:31. > :56:36.Malaysians, initially. But that is a moment of magic from Chris Adcock.

:56:37. > :56:49.Superb. Not going for the big power-play, but using the angle.

:56:50. > :57:11.I think Peter, the coach, said, first three points after the

:57:12. > :57:12.interval, really go for it, keep the sharpness, and that is what they

:57:13. > :57:31.did. I think now the English pair have

:57:32. > :57:47.well and truly broken the belief of the Malaysians.

:57:48. > :58:11.Ten point advantage. They would appear to be on cruise control.

:58:12. > :58:22.Well, it is strange, this Malaysian pair are an

:58:23. > :58:25.Well, it is strange, this unknown quantity, we have never really seen

:58:26. > :58:28.them in international competition. I thought they might cause the number

:58:29. > :58:40.one seeds a few headaches, but that is not the case.

:58:41. > :59:13.And Vivian Kah Mun Hoo has lost her way.

:59:14. > :59:22.A rare error at the front of the court from Gabby Adcock. What the

:59:23. > :59:32.English pair must not do is relax and think the job is already done.

:59:33. > :59:38.Remember, in the semifinal of the mixed team competition against

:59:39. > :59:41.India, they were one game and 15-8 up and it went to three. We know

:59:42. > :00:00.they can have lapses of concentration.

:00:01. > :00:28.Yes, she was a little bit casual on that shot, Vivian Hoo.

:00:29. > :00:39.Good return of serve. I thought it was in. Chris is saying he thought

:00:40. > :00:55.it was long. Now the umpire wants to have a word.

:00:56. > :01:08.Well, Chris was adamant it was long. Difficult to tell.

:01:09. > :02:16.Disguise on the drop shot and played to perfection.

:02:17. > :02:32.Just two points required to book their place in the quarterfinal.

:02:33. > :02:55.She has pushed it wide and now nine match point opportunities.

:02:56. > :03:07.Another lift from Vivian Hoo. And that is far too loose. Job very well

:03:08. > :03:20.done by the number one seeds, Chris and Gabby Adcock. 34 minutes for the

:03:21. > :03:25.victory. 21-17, 21-11. And they are safely through to the quarterfinal

:03:26. > :03:32.where they will meet the bronze medallists from four-year ago from

:03:33. > :03:50.Singapore. Well done to the two of them make,

:03:51. > :03:55.rancid performance. We are into the men's three metres springboard final

:03:56. > :03:56.with Jack Laugher a serious contender so let's join our

:03:57. > :04:14.commentators. The second competitor going, from

:04:15. > :04:19.Malaysia it is Chew Yiwei. He had a good effort this morning in the

:04:20. > :04:22.preliminaries. He is only 18 years old and I was not quite sure if he

:04:23. > :04:29.would make it through, he seemed to be a bit inconsistent but he pulled

:04:30. > :04:37.six out of the bag this morning. Inward to and a half in the pike

:04:38. > :04:42.position, that is OK. 63 matches the opening dive from Cody Yano of

:04:43. > :04:47.Canada. This is the part of the procedure where they are feeling

:04:48. > :05:06.each other out with the big tariff dives coming later in the programme.

:05:07. > :05:12.This man is out yesterday. Good work from Ahmad Azman. The Malaysia and

:05:13. > :05:16.contingent were pleased with that. You can see a lot of daylight

:05:17. > :05:28.between his chest and his thighs but he did spot the water each time,

:05:29. > :05:33.three and a half, good work. One of the judges that counts concurs, 7.5

:05:34. > :05:38.from the other two. The lines through the marks mean they do not

:05:39. > :05:45.count towards the total. It is the three that to count multiplied by

:05:46. > :05:48.the difficulty. Fengyang Li has been in New Zealand now for four years,

:05:49. > :06:03.former diving with China. You can see his Chinese heritage

:06:04. > :06:09.with the style of diving, so good with the folding so deep into that

:06:10. > :06:16.pike shape. His chin is right on his shins, beautiful elevation. Leaving

:06:17. > :06:29.it a tad short of vertical soap maybe eight. -- so maybe eight. A

:06:30. > :06:34.solid start for the one New Zealander remaining in the

:06:35. > :06:39.competition. He is in second place. The first of the three English meant

:06:40. > :06:44.we will see. A high tariff dive to start off with some Oliver Dingley.

:06:45. > :06:55.3.4 is the degree. A start off with some Oliver Dingley.

:06:56. > :06:58.a half somersault with two twists. Nice game of tactics from Oliver

:06:59. > :07:04.Dingley, everybody else apart from Jack Laugher will be starting with

:07:05. > :07:12.an easier dive and this is very complex. Two and a half somersaults

:07:13. > :07:19.with two twists. He has come out all guns blazing. The third Englishman

:07:20. > :07:26.to qualify and that is a good score to open up his campaign. He is a

:07:27. > :07:31.Yorkshireman but he finds himself in Southend rather than Leeds or

:07:32. > :07:37.Sheffield but that is a positive start. Here is one of the stars of

:07:38. > :07:43.the show from the last couple of days, Yona Knight-Wisdom

:07:44. > :07:55.representing Jamaica. Back to and a half somersaults. -- two and a

:07:56. > :08:03.half. What a dive! Only 19 years old. He is six foot three and let me

:08:04. > :08:10.tell you, at five foot 11 I was told I was too tall! He smashed it on the

:08:11. > :08:23.one metre today and look at that opening. It is pretty good.

:08:24. > :08:32.He was found as part of a school ID programme. James Denny, the second

:08:33. > :08:41.of the Englishman. He has got some big dives to come but easing his way

:08:42. > :08:53.in with a 3.1. Forward three and a half somersaults with pike. Well

:08:54. > :08:57.done, James. He wiggled his hips a little bit to adjust his feet,

:08:58. > :09:03.landed right on the corner of the board but he manages to get up.

:09:04. > :09:14.Spinning a little bit off axis but he managed to square it up and that

:09:15. > :09:24.could have been worse. 69.75. Well done, James. James Heatly of

:09:25. > :09:30.Scotland. Forward two and a half somersaults with one twist. He will

:09:31. > :09:42.get a massive reception every time he comes onto the board. 3.0 as a

:09:43. > :09:48.starting point for James Heatly. He was on fire this morning. Six dives

:09:49. > :09:54.to the best of his ability to qualify for this final. He does not

:09:55. > :10:01.have the greatest degree of difficulty, only 3.0 and this is

:10:02. > :10:06.reflective of his list. He is only 17 and has a long way to go, the

:10:07. > :10:13.sole Scotsman here. And look at that, big smiles and on he goes,

:10:14. > :10:17.another one in the bag. He really enjoys his diving, always

:10:18. > :10:26.enthusiastic and smiling and every reason to be so. Riley McCormick, he

:10:27. > :10:33.was on the ten meter board in the Olympics but due to injuries he has

:10:34. > :10:40.come down to three metres. Nice work from Riley McCormick, just allowing

:10:41. > :10:46.the dive to move a fraction over. The take-off was good, moving away

:10:47. > :10:54.from the board a bit too much. His feet flick over a touch as he moves

:10:55. > :11:06.into the water. But should get 7.5s. Another 67.50, getting quite

:11:07. > :11:12.bunched up in the middle. Oliver Dingley at the top because of his

:11:13. > :11:20.high tariff dive. We had a real curate egg performance yesterday

:11:21. > :11:26.from Francois Imbeau-Dulac. He does finish with a very high tariff dive

:11:27. > :11:34.which has a lot of risk but this is 3.0. Inward two and a half in the

:11:35. > :11:41.pike position, moving back from the board as he tends to. It means

:11:42. > :11:48.controlling the dive is a bit more difficult. You are looking for an

:11:49. > :11:50.entry without splash. You could see him rolling through, watching his

:11:51. > :12:15.replay. Still a good score. Now to the top two from the Lemon

:12:16. > :12:19.Rees -- from the preliminaries. Wow, up, up and away! The pocket rocket

:12:20. > :12:25.from Malaysia, he is just a powerhouse. Look at the strength in

:12:26. > :12:34.those legs to explode from the springboard. Flying up into the air.

:12:35. > :12:42.Beautiful dive. He can be a bit hit and miss but that is good. That is a

:12:43. > :12:49.massive hit to start with. He cracks through the top three into second

:12:50. > :12:56.place with 74.40. Here is the red-hot favourite. How will he deal

:12:57. > :13:00.with that often overused word in sport, pressure? There is plenty of

:13:01. > :13:14.it on his shoulders, 19-year-old Jack Laugher.

:13:15. > :13:22.question. He comes out and stamped his authority on this competition.

:13:23. > :13:27.This is huge, if the judges are awake, they might even go a nine. I

:13:28. > :13:32.am giving a nine, but some might say that I would be biased.

:13:33. > :13:39.Ballard label never in a month of Sundays would I say that, Leon! And

:13:40. > :13:40.they have placed him in first place, which is considerably better

:13:41. > :14:51.than he did this morning. We will see this inward three and a

:14:52. > :14:54.half performed by many of the athletes. It is very important that

:14:55. > :14:59.you move away from the board far enough to be safe, but if you move

:15:00. > :15:11.too far back, you can have trouble making the dive. Cody just going

:15:12. > :15:24.over from vertical. Judges are bit undecided on that one.

:15:25. > :15:34.The Malaysian competitor, forward three and a half. Yes, a good diver.

:15:35. > :15:39.Only young. He is doing so well to find his consistency. In training,

:15:40. > :15:49.he was not looking a force to be reckoned with. But that is two out

:15:50. > :15:57.of two for him. Yes, both opening dives tonight are considerably

:15:58. > :16:03.better than they were this morning. And the two Malaysians are looking

:16:04. > :16:09.on good form today. Onto the third competitor in round two, Ahmad

:16:10. > :16:17.Azman. Again, can be a bit unpredictable, as we saw yesterday.

:16:18. > :16:18.The first really big test for him, a 3.4 in round two, an inward three

:16:19. > :16:31.and a half somersaults. I was mentioning that it is very

:16:32. > :16:37.important to stay over the dining board on the inward dive. So, this

:16:38. > :16:41.is the inward three and a half. Just shifting himself back a little bit

:16:42. > :16:47.too far, which causes a slight under rotation. If he had stayed a little

:16:48. > :16:48.bit more over the diving board, he would have completed it a bit

:16:49. > :17:17.better. Fine lines in this sport. retired from diving and became a

:17:18. > :17:24.coach. Then he decided to change from the 10m to the 3m board, and

:17:25. > :17:31.came out of retirement. Here he is in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow

:17:32. > :17:39.in 2014. And that is a really, really solid dive. Great take-off,

:17:40. > :17:50.great elevation. And the Pike shape is textbook. Good entry into the

:17:51. > :17:54.water. The 24-year-old, competing for New Zealand. Yes, he went to New

:17:55. > :18:10.Zealand and based himself in Pengelly. And he is competing very

:18:11. > :18:15.well, and has taken the lead. Plenty of big tariff dives still to be

:18:16. > :18:18.performed. Not so much in the he went with a big tariff to start off

:18:19. > :18:31.with, and comes down a little bit for this one.

:18:32. > :18:38.Just a little bit too aggressive, as he exited the dive. So, the take-off

:18:39. > :18:42.looked good. This is his lowest degree of difficulty. The take-off

:18:43. > :18:46.is good. As he comes out he just reaches back a bit too aggressively

:18:47. > :18:51.with his shoulders and pulls the dive over. That will be costly. He

:18:52. > :18:55.will get less than sevens from the judges for this. He did better this

:18:56. > :19:02.morning. Yes, we saw fluctuations yesterday with Chris Mears, where

:19:03. > :19:09.everything was pretty much on song, and then he did not have the same

:19:10. > :19:14.acumen in the evening. That is going to set Dingley back a little bit,

:19:15. > :19:22.but there are six rounds. Next, Yona Knight-Wisdom. 43 and a half

:19:23. > :19:29.somersaults with Pike. And there he goes, crushing that entry! Wow! Well

:19:30. > :19:40.done. This is a long Way round when you are as tall as this young man.

:19:41. > :19:45.Great entry, ripping the water. It sounds like the water is being torn

:19:46. > :19:58.apart. Great entry. And look up those marks. Eight across the board.

:19:59. > :20:06.From Barbados, born in Leeds. He could have opted for Barbados,

:20:07. > :20:07.Jamaica or English. James Denny, the second of the Englishman floral.

:20:08. > :20:18.This is a big dive. He will be partnering Tom Daley in

:20:19. > :20:34.the synchro on 10m. LEON TAYLOR: Well done, James Denny.

:20:35. > :20:38.He did a really good job on this this morning. Just looking over, the

:20:39. > :20:47.coaches are on their feet. This is immense. 3.6, degree of difficulty.

:20:48. > :20:52.He is a little low on the water, but he and Jack Laugher, the only guys

:20:53. > :20:56.in this final doing that dive. He will be happy with that. Good job

:20:57. > :21:05.once again. The 20-year-old from Leeds. He will be in the individual

:21:06. > :21:10.10m, and in the synchro with Tom Daley over the next couple of days.

:21:11. > :21:17.But he is concentrating on the 3m here. The only male representing

:21:18. > :21:22.Scotland here, James Heatly. Forward three and a half somersaults with

:21:23. > :21:27.Pike. Oh, here we go! Well done, James. Another great dive. This is

:21:28. > :21:35.probably one of his more context dives. He will be outclassed by way

:21:36. > :21:41.of degree of difficulty, but he is not being outclassed, by way of

:21:42. > :21:47.execution. He is diving out of his skin. Isn't he just? And a smile to

:21:48. > :21:54.match. But diving pedigree, which we have already mentioned. His

:21:55. > :22:02.grandfather... Oh, hello, he did hit the cameraman! I thought that might

:22:03. > :22:08.happen at one stage. A little bit of/being thrown up, however, that

:22:09. > :22:22.was a very well executed dive. Very simple. Unusual to see him on the

:22:23. > :22:30.springboard, but he is a good springboard diver. A quizzical look

:22:31. > :22:38.back at the scoreboard, from the Canadian. Followed immediately by

:22:39. > :22:49.another. Francois Imbeau-Dulac had a very good morning. Yes, he knows

:22:50. > :22:53.where his dives are, providing he can get the take-off. He has got one

:22:54. > :22:57.of the most inconsistent hurdles I have ever seen. That is when you are

:22:58. > :23:02.coming from the end of the diving board, and you go from one foot to

:23:03. > :23:06.two feet, to land on the end. He fell off the end of the diving board

:23:07. > :23:13.in the one metre, jobless Lee was not meant to happen. So far today,

:23:14. > :23:30.he is going along OK. -- which obviously was not meant to happen.

:23:31. > :23:39.Yes! And this man is on fire as well. I am hoping that he can put

:23:40. > :23:45.six dives together, which means it will be a very closely run

:23:46. > :23:56.competition. Phenomenal height. Way up in the air. Smiling, enjoying his

:23:57. > :24:03.competition. And that is topping the leaderboard, with one to go. Good

:24:04. > :24:07.marks, good position. Now, Jack Laugher, this morning, on this dive,

:24:08. > :24:12.a reverse three and a half somersault with tuck, nearly got 90

:24:13. > :24:16.points. That will give you a marker as to where he would like to be this

:24:17. > :24:23.evening. The last diver of round two. Nice work! The hurdle step was

:24:24. > :24:29.not really good, but he knows exactly where he is. He is right on

:24:30. > :24:31.the corner of the diving board. He has to throw himself forward by

:24:32. > :24:40.shifting his hips, but he has enough space. He will still get eights on

:24:41. > :24:52.that. And we're witnessing a class act. A little bit down on where he

:24:53. > :24:57.was this morning. And look at the which has already opened up between

:24:58. > :25:01.Jack Laugher and the rest. He does not really have a lower tariff dive.

:25:02. > :25:27.Yona Knight-Wisdom, in third place. Straight into round three. The first

:25:28. > :25:31.of the three Canadians, who will be competing in the 3m springboard. The

:25:32. > :25:39.23-year-old from Edmonton. Cody Yano, back to under half somersaults

:25:40. > :25:54.with Pike. -- two and a half somersaults.

:25:55. > :25:59.You can see the ankles tipping over, that will be penalised, and will

:26:00. > :26:17.keep him at the bottom end of the pack. Yes, this round really starts

:26:18. > :26:21.to sort out the men from the boys. And there are quite a few

:26:22. > :26:28.pacesetters, including Jack Laugher. Early stages. We have been impressed

:26:29. > :26:40.so far with how this man has performed in the evening, certainly

:26:41. > :26:45.better than he did this morning. Oh, just letting the dive get away

:26:46. > :27:01.from him. Here we go. Squeezing into the Pike.

:27:02. > :27:11.Well, he won a title in Malaysia 12 months ago, with nearly 400 marks.

:27:12. > :27:13.But he is probably not going to be achieving those dizzy heights today.

:27:14. > :27:19.From one Malaysian diver to another. From one Malaysian diver to another.

:27:20. > :27:38.Ahmad Azman. Eighth place after round two.

:27:39. > :27:46.Well done, as man. He had some problems with this in the

:27:47. > :27:53.preliminaries. Just moving away from the diving board a bit, which makes

:27:54. > :28:01.it more difficult to control. Because of the excessive distance

:28:02. > :28:06.from the diving board, and being a bit ragged, he will get 6.5 to

:28:07. > :28:28.Fengyang Li of New Zealand, one of the two who were in the competition

:28:29. > :28:42.at the beginning. Over he goes, serves up! -- surf's up! He hit the

:28:43. > :28:48.diving board, that is why. He is OK, just a bit too tight, his feet hit

:28:49. > :28:58.the board and he tips over. He will be fine. Nothing you can do if you

:28:59. > :29:09.hit the board. The judges deem that as dangerous. Not a way to get a

:29:10. > :29:15.free pedicure! That has done for his chances of a medal. He will do well

:29:16. > :29:31.to get out of the bottom three. Looking upwards, Oliver Dingley.

:29:32. > :29:38.Nice dive, really good. Not wanting to be outclassed by anyone in this

:29:39. > :29:44.field. Beautiful dive. He has really stepped up. Only one dive that went

:29:45. > :29:52.awry in the preliminaries and this is on the money again. Eights

:29:53. > :29:55.across-the-board. He was 11th in the last Commonwealth Games in this

:29:56. > :30:03.competition so he is looking for a Bath improvement, the 21-year-old

:30:04. > :30:10.from Harrogate -- vast improvement. Yona Knight-Wisdom. Not quite that

:30:11. > :30:17.trademark ripped entry, just a little bit of splash and once again,

:30:18. > :30:23.helicopter feet. Keep your toes together. It is quite difficult but

:30:24. > :30:30.you have two squeeze those toes together otherwise the judges will

:30:31. > :30:38.cane you for being scruffy. Probably only sevens. But still good. He has

:30:39. > :30:50.great expressions, we know what he thinks of it. He has come away a

:30:51. > :30:57.little bit disappointed. Now the less than your loving, Jenson Button

:30:58. > :31:02.loving James Denny ash macro lass Anya.

:31:03. > :31:17.A good start from him, can he build upon it? Yes, he can. That was a big

:31:18. > :31:23.dive, just struggled a little bit, seemed to be OK on the end of the

:31:24. > :31:33.board. Helicopter legs, manages to square it up. He is facing... He was

:31:34. > :31:41.not facing straight on, a little bit off-kilter. OK but not electric. His

:31:42. > :31:47.compass went slightly awry. Not a bad mark by any means but not what

:31:48. > :31:54.he was looking for to remain in contention for a medal. This man

:31:55. > :32:00.would love a top six finish. But the stakes are much higher tonight. Back

:32:01. > :32:07.to macro and a half somersaults with pike.

:32:08. > :32:24.It is OK. He dropped his feet as he exited the dive. Just arching

:32:25. > :32:28.through his back. Marginally short of vertical as he goes in. The first

:32:29. > :32:37.slight error we have seen from James all day. And the first time we have

:32:38. > :32:47.not seen as mile from him. -- seen a smile. He is slipping down towards

:32:48. > :32:49.the pack. Riley McCormick with his fourth dive, never wastes any time.

:32:50. > :32:57.the pack. Riley McCormick with his And he makes easy work of that entry

:32:58. > :33:03.into the water. Not the strongest of springboard diver 's, does not go as

:33:04. > :33:09.high as some of the others but he goes into the water very cleanly and

:33:10. > :33:18.that should get eights. One of his higher difficulty dives.

:33:19. > :33:28.A good total as well as he has moved up into fourth place. Knocking on

:33:29. > :33:32.the door of the medals. This man has not quite yet backed up what he did

:33:33. > :33:47.in the morning but he is not too far away. 3.0 Francois Imbeau-Dulac.

:33:48. > :33:53.Just allowing it... We have seen this as a common mistake. He leans

:33:54. > :34:00.back and opens up his chest and does the same on the finish. There is

:34:01. > :34:06.that many tidal wave. He didn't hit the board like Fengyang Li, a safe

:34:07. > :34:12.distance from the board but arching too much. That could be the end of

:34:13. > :34:18.his medal charge because it will not happen with sixes. Everybody else

:34:19. > :34:35.will be going along way above that. 3.5, we are getting up towards a

:34:36. > :34:43.high tariff here. Oh! Good work, awesome dive. I was watching this in

:34:44. > :34:47.training and he was a bit over rotating but he's managed to get it

:34:48. > :34:55.on the money. He lands directly on his head, the diving term for

:34:56. > :35:04.upright, completely vertical. Very good marks, 84. That is up big Mark

:35:05. > :35:06.and the pressure has been well and truly thrown in the direction of the

:35:07. > :35:18.man on the board. He knows he has some competition

:35:19. > :35:22.from the Malaysian. Can he respond with a 3.4, inward three and a half

:35:23. > :35:28.somersaults? with a 3.4, inward three and a half

:35:29. > :35:32.He can respond, a little bit nervous on the way out. Maybe backing off a

:35:33. > :35:37.little bit, on the way out. Maybe backing off a

:35:38. > :35:43.he can feel himself spinning quickly so he comes out a fraction early. We

:35:44. > :35:50.will not see him sail over 500 and he will not run away with it but he

:35:51. > :35:57.is in the lead. But his lead has been severely trimmed. Looking at

:35:58. > :36:00.his coach, just giving him the instructions about what went wrong

:36:01. > :36:10.and how to improve in the coming rounds. He is holding an. The top to

:36:11. > :36:15.have broken away from the pack. Look at Yona Knight-Wisdom, he was close

:36:16. > :36:23.to a medal in the one metre, he is in a medal position in this. It

:36:24. > :36:25.looks like those around 180, 190 will not be in the mix for the

:36:26. > :36:40.medals. Cody Yano of Canada with a forward

:36:41. > :36:47.three and a half to start Round 4. Yes, halfway through, still all to

:36:48. > :36:54.play for. He is down in 11th after the third round. This is an average

:36:55. > :37:00.dive, good compared to the others. He is being slowly left by Hind but

:37:01. > :37:10.he will get close to 70 which is a good score. -- left behind. Yes, but

:37:11. > :37:11.the realism will have struck him right now that his medal prospects

:37:12. > :37:27.are minimal. But he will be around the top six or

:37:28. > :37:36.seven. Chew Yiwei of Malaysia. He had a little fault in the previous

:37:37. > :37:41.round, the 18-year-old. 3.0 is his selection for a reverse two and a

:37:42. > :37:53.half somersaults in the pike position. He seemed OK on the

:37:54. > :38:01.take-off but just misjudges when to let go of his pike shape, hangs on a

:38:02. > :38:11.bit too long and is quite far over the vertical. That was a shame.

:38:12. > :38:16.Another one has gone, another one bites the dust. Nothing will

:38:17. > :38:21.Another one has gone, another one for him tonight. Those marks not

:38:22. > :38:28.what is required for the top three positions. This man has an immense

:38:29. > :38:32.what is required for the top three tariff dive coming up and a huge one

:38:33. > :38:40.at the end of the programme. If they fall into the right position, who

:38:41. > :38:54.knows? 3.5, reverse three and a half somersaults with tuck. Yes,

:38:55. > :38:58.phenomenal! Well done. He looks a little bit like a deck chair

:38:59. > :39:10.spinning, he needs to be in a tight all. -- ball. Still, seven, seven

:39:11. > :39:23..5. I won't be eyeing a deck chair from you! -- buying. Early stages of

:39:24. > :39:33.Round 4. Can he recover from his nightmare third round dive? It has

:39:34. > :39:44.knocked his confidence for sure. Now he is doing the reverse. Spinning

:39:45. > :39:55.back towards the board and he goes way over. We only had one New

:39:56. > :40:00.Zealander through. I am afraid the chances of any medal here, they are

:40:01. > :40:06.a rarity on the diving board, not too many New Zealand divers of this

:40:07. > :40:14.calibre. His chances have evaporated. Oliver Dingley for

:40:15. > :40:21.England. This is another huge step for him. If this could be completed

:40:22. > :40:35.correctly, the top three is in sight. Nice work. This is a tricky

:40:36. > :40:41.dive, 3.4 degrees of difficulty. One and a half twists, into the two and

:40:42. > :40:46.a half somersaults and just going a fraction over vertical as he goes in

:40:47. > :40:57.so it will not be eights but not far off. 76.50. He doesn't look

:40:58. > :41:02.amazingly pleased but he should be, that is a solid dive and keeps him

:41:03. > :41:07.in contention for a medal. This man is in a medal position at the

:41:08. > :41:15.moment. The former gymnast. He has been a diver for ten years.

:41:16. > :41:23.Representing Jamaica, inward two and a half. The same mistake as he made

:41:24. > :41:28.in the alumina reads, just backing away from the board a bit too much.

:41:29. > :41:35.Making it more difficult than it needs to be. He has long legs so he

:41:36. > :41:42.needs to move back more than most but that could cost him a little

:41:43. > :41:48.bit. 61, that is not what he needed to stay in contention. The

:41:49. > :41:56.expression tells you all you need to know. He will talk it over with his

:41:57. > :42:00.coach. James Denny, 3.5 agree of difficulty, currently in fifth

:42:01. > :42:04.place. Reverse three and a half somersaults, this could be the

:42:05. > :42:12.difference between him pushing for a medal or not. He needs 80 points to

:42:13. > :42:24.go into the lead. Taking a long time to consider this. This is perhaps

:42:25. > :42:27.his bogey dive. My goodness, his feet were right over the end of the

:42:28. > :42:36.board. It is so difficult from there. He is moving sideways towards

:42:37. > :42:44.the judges. He manages to get it almost right. He is moving sideways

:42:45. > :43:00.quite a lot. Almost tilting sideways, slightly short. OK.

:43:01. > :43:07.he has had a couple of good days in his home pool. He is the only male

:43:08. > :43:17.competitor for Scotland on the diving board. Yes, back on his top

:43:18. > :43:21.game. Well done, James. He will have been a bit disappointed with his

:43:22. > :43:25.previous dive, but that one is back up there. Speaking to his coach

:43:26. > :43:30.Jenny earlier, she was absolutely thrilled with his composure and

:43:31. > :43:39.performance. At the end he is spinning slightly off access, but

:43:40. > :43:44.there we go. Sevens. That is OK. Nearly running into the cameraman

:43:45. > :43:52.again. McCormick, one of the taller divers, although not quite in the

:43:53. > :44:00.class of Yona. 5ft 10. He needed a good one if he wanted to keep the

:44:01. > :44:08.pressure on. Currently in sixth, at the halfway point. Here he is with

:44:09. > :44:11.this dive. Trying to squeeze eights or above from the judges, and that

:44:12. > :44:23.might not quite be good enough for it. He does not look happy with that

:44:24. > :44:27.one, either. And we can just see his medal prospect fading from his

:44:28. > :44:32.eyes. This man has got a lot to do to get back in the running. Fran?ois

:44:33. > :44:42.Imbeau-Dulac 's. Reverse three and a half. Oh, that is OK. This is a huge

:44:43. > :44:46.dive. I know his final dive is a monster degree of difficulty, which

:44:47. > :44:52.we will speak about later. But this is difficult as well. This is what

:44:53. > :44:58.we saw James Denny falter on. And Fran?ois just about holding onto

:44:59. > :45:04.this. He went sailing over. He will get sixes, probably about the same

:45:05. > :45:09.as Denny. Currently in seventh place, with two to go. Again, it

:45:10. > :45:13.looks unlikely that he will be challenging for the medals. This

:45:14. > :45:24.man, however, has his eye on the big prize. Second all the way through,

:45:25. > :45:26.pretty much, after that first round. Ooi Tze Liang, of Malaysia. 3.4 on

:45:27. > :45:43.this one. Oh, he is holding it together, dive

:45:44. > :45:48.after dive. That is four out of four for Ooi Tze Liang of Malaysia. So

:45:49. > :45:56.strong, so powerful. And he is finding his way out of these. 70

:45:57. > :45:58.points, just over. And still very much in the running. Top of the

:45:59. > :46:13.leaderboard. Massively over 70. Big expectations, big hopes, on

:46:14. > :46:22.those young shoulders of 19-year-old Jack Laugher, from City of Leeds.

:46:23. > :46:30.That is more like it from Jack! Spectacular! That is his easiest

:46:31. > :46:39.dive, would you believe, at 3.3 degree of difficulty. One and a half

:46:40. > :46:46.twists, two-and-a-half somersaults. Eights across-the-board. And he

:46:47. > :46:56.lengthens his lead. He does. Makes it look easy. Maybe not quite where

:46:57. > :47:06.he wanted to be with that dive, but nonetheless doing what he has to do.

:47:07. > :47:08.Two more to come. At the moment, two Englishmen would be on the podium,

:47:09. > :47:20.but there are still two rounds to go. You can pretty much discount

:47:21. > :47:21.anybody from seven downwards now. The penultimate round, often the

:47:22. > :47:44.round which shakes things up. That is a better effort from Cody

:47:45. > :47:47.Yano. Just allowed the dive to go slightly over vertical, but a better

:47:48. > :47:49.effort than some of his previous rounds. He is going high above the

:47:50. > :48:11.diving board. He moves on to 312, which is at the

:48:12. > :48:23.moment 11 points behind Jack Laugher. As we see the first of the

:48:24. > :48:28.three Malaysians. He started very impressively but has rather slipped

:48:29. > :48:44.back. He has faltered in the last couple of rounds, let's see if he

:48:45. > :48:49.can get it back here. Yes, it is OK. Just a shame he did not lock out on

:48:50. > :48:57.the finish there, Chew Yiwei. That was his easiest dive. The splash

:48:58. > :49:14.being thrown up, the judges will penalise him for that.

:49:15. > :49:24.Ahmed Azman did a big tariff dive in the previous round, and this is not

:49:25. > :49:27.too shabby, either. 3.4. This man might just come up on the rails, if

:49:28. > :49:33.he gets this, and his last dive, which is a big tariff dive, right.

:49:34. > :49:49.So, in the mix. Yes, well, very good. But was a very, very good

:49:50. > :50:01.dive, whichever way it goes. He can be a little bit here and there, but

:50:02. > :50:05.he is definitely on the money. And so you run is continuing in a

:50:06. > :50:15.very good trajectory, and he takes the lead for the time being. -- and

:50:16. > :50:22.Azman is continuing. This is a much better dive, one of his easiest

:50:23. > :50:29.ones. That is more like the classy diving we are used to from this

:50:30. > :50:34.24-year-old. That might just squeeze some eights from the judges.

:50:35. > :50:40.24-year-old. That might just squeeze some eights from the judges.

:50:41. > :50:49.Still I believe coaching and diving. And showing his pupils exactly how

:50:50. > :50:56.it should be done. Oliver Dingley, third place for England. A lower

:50:57. > :51:06.tariff dive than most in this round, so this has to be spot on. Yes, well

:51:07. > :51:11.done, Oliver Dingley! Sometimes this one can go wrong. But that is good

:51:12. > :51:16.in the preliminaries, and now it is good again in the final. Just

:51:17. > :51:21.tipping over a little bit. The judges might penalise him for that.

:51:22. > :51:31.Just losing it in his lower back as he goes in. Yes, not giving him the

:51:32. > :51:35.benefit of the doubt, but hitting witty much the same straps every

:51:36. > :51:41.time here, Oliver Dingley. And here is the man who is the first Jamaican

:51:42. > :51:51.ever to compete in the World Diving Championships, as he did last year

:51:52. > :51:57.in Barcelona. Oh, what a shame he has put this one in in the final.

:51:58. > :52:04.This is his bogey dive, it is the big one. He my goodness, he just did

:52:05. > :52:10.not have enough room. He let go slightly early. I really feel for

:52:11. > :52:16.him. It is a long way round when you are that tall. Well, he went for it.

:52:17. > :52:21.He put all his chips in and it did not work out, but he has had an

:52:22. > :52:29.amazing Commonwealth Games. What a guy. Just a couple of days ago, few

:52:30. > :52:34.people outside the diving fraternity knew about him. But now he is a

:52:35. > :52:42.star. He has lots of time to show the world what he can do. Now, James

:52:43. > :52:55.Denny for England. Just on the cusp of that top three. In fifth place

:52:56. > :52:59.after round four. Oh, that is OK. Just throwing up a bit too much

:53:00. > :53:03.splash, he might have left himself too much to do for a medal. You can

:53:04. > :53:12.see him running out of room, and then he could not quite keep the

:53:13. > :53:18.splash down. Still good. It is a case of so near yet so far, for him.

:53:19. > :53:30.Not bad, but just not quite as good as we know he is capable of doing.

:53:31. > :53:34.Later on the week -- in the wiki will be appearing in the sink row.

:53:35. > :53:45.And next, this is his highest tariff by quite some way.

:53:46. > :53:58.Oh, yes, well done! James Heatly nails his hardest dive! 3.4 degrees

:53:59. > :54:02.of difficulty. He is going to get more than 70 points. But is a great

:54:03. > :54:10.dive from the 17-year-old in his home pool. Smashing it! Well, home

:54:11. > :54:14.advantage sometimes does count for something, and the smile is backed.

:54:15. > :54:25.And a little salute as well to his fans.

:54:26. > :54:35.Riley McCormick taking a bit more time over this one. Just backing off

:54:36. > :54:37.from the diving board a little bit too much, running out of room in the

:54:38. > :55:15.end. Francois Imbeau-Dulac, the male

:55:16. > :55:30.athlete of the year in Canada. Well, he can really twist, and you will

:55:31. > :55:37.see what I mean in the next round. This one is 3.4, which is bang on

:55:38. > :55:45.the money. That will help his cause, but not towards a medal,

:55:46. > :55:51.though. Now, we are down to the fish supper of the 3m springboard event,

:55:52. > :55:58.the last two. Ooi Tze Liang of Malaysia, followed by young Jack

:55:59. > :56:02.Laugher. Not much to choose between them, in terms of Marx. With big

:56:03. > :56:13.tariffs like this, a lot can change very quickly. 3.6. He has been in

:56:14. > :56:26.second place from round two onwards. The main competitor for

:56:27. > :56:34.Laugher. Oh, and he is keeping the pressure on! 3.6 is a big dive, it

:56:35. > :56:37.is easy to mess up. Now, Ooi Tze Liang just about gets it on his

:56:38. > :56:45.head. That will get him more than 70 points, so it just means that Jack

:56:46. > :56:55.is not having it all his own way. That was the 3.6. We now bring you a

:56:56. > :56:58.3.8. I shall say this only once - forward four and a half somersaults.

:56:59. > :57:06.I think it is easier to say, if Jack yet is this right, it is gold for

:57:07. > :57:09.England. Oh, no! You are banned again from saying anything when it

:57:10. > :57:13.comes to big tariff dive is! It shows how difficult this was. He is

:57:14. > :57:19.right on the corner of the diving board. He thinks he is lower than he

:57:20. > :57:23.is. He tucks his chin in and goes sailing over. Now, the cat is among

:57:24. > :57:27.the pigeons, and I think Ooi Tze Liang will top the medal table. Jack

:57:28. > :57:48.is going to have to fight for this gold. He is 11 points down on the

:57:49. > :58:04.Malaysian. So, Jack Laugher in second.

:58:05. > :58:13.Cody Yano will finish up this programme with a 3.0 degrees of

:58:14. > :58:22.difficulty. It is a dive we have seen quite a bit of. Nice easy

:58:23. > :58:32.finish for Cody Yano. He has had a good list of lives today. He is

:58:33. > :58:41.riding consistently. He will continue to earn his spot on the

:58:42. > :58:44.Canadian team going forward. You will have to go over 400 to get a

:58:45. > :58:47.medal in this
