:00:42. > :00:49.Hello and a very warm welcome to day nine of Glasgow 2014. Looking

:00:50. > :00:53.forward to the weekend, got that Friday feeling? Look, there is

:00:54. > :00:56.Eilidh Child. She certainly has got the Friday thing. She got a silver

:00:57. > :01:04.medal last night and she and lots of others have reason to feel that way.

:01:05. > :01:23.POP MUSIC ye has pulled it out of the bag! Gold in class! Claudia

:01:24. > :01:28.Fragapane, the golden girl. Superb riding to finish. Rebecca Downie is

:01:29. > :01:36.Commonwealth champion. Varies your Golden Boot, Scotland's Daniel

:01:37. > :01:40.Keatings. And an excellent bronze. Breathtaking gymnastics, every

:01:41. > :01:47.single move was never in doubt. And Jazmin Sawyers, wow. Three English

:01:48. > :01:50.girls in the hunt, and bronze. England have been absolutely

:01:51. > :01:54.fantastic in this. Eilidh Child takes the silver. The David Weir is

:01:55. > :02:28.coming home to a handsome victory. Already, some live action happening

:02:29. > :02:33.on the luscious lawns of Kelvingrove. The women's pairs gold

:02:34. > :02:40.medal matches under way between England and South Africa. You can

:02:41. > :02:44.catch that shortly on BBC1. So that is coming up. Quite a nice day in

:02:45. > :02:52.Glasgow. Lots of reasons to keep it right here on BBC Three. We will be

:02:53. > :02:54.getting live action up and running at Kelvingrove where

:02:55. > :03:01.getting live action up and running medal when their women's pairs take

:03:02. > :03:04.on Northern Ireland for bronze. On the netball court, Wales are

:03:05. > :03:10.on Northern Ireland for bronze. On on Northern Ireland for seventh and

:03:11. > :03:20.eighth place. And plenty more bowls action as well, as England take on

:03:21. > :03:26.Scotland in the men's four decider. Well, over at the Hydro yesterday,

:03:27. > :03:30.the gymnastics, the home nations did incredibly well. Today, they are

:03:31. > :03:33.hoping to pick up more heavy metal band they even managed yesterday. --

:03:34. > :03:48.van they even managed. There you go. That is so solid.

:03:49. > :03:52.Another golfer Max Whitlock. It is England's Claudia Fragapane. She

:03:53. > :03:56.could get gold. Straight front somersault with a half turn. She has

:03:57. > :04:07.got gold. This is all about Claudia Fragapane. Daniel Keatings, in with

:04:08. > :04:12.a chance of a medal. Varies your golden boy, Scotland's Daniel

:04:13. > :04:18.Keatings! Max Whitlock with silver and Louis Smith with bronze.

:04:19. > :04:24.England's Beckie Downie. This is the impressive bit. She needs to speed

:04:25. > :04:33.up, into the fold twist. Rebecca Downie is Commonwealth champion.

:04:34. > :04:40.There you go, Daniel Purvis. Very nice. He takes the bronze medal. It

:04:41. > :04:43.was a truly wonderful day in the Hydro for the gymnasts of England

:04:44. > :04:48.and Scotland. I'm delighted to say that Craig Heap has joined us. You

:04:49. > :04:52.were there the whole day. I got in the entity Daniel Purvis getting his

:04:53. > :04:57.silver medal. What a day, just brilliant. It was such an emotional

:04:58. > :05:01.day. Yet again, packed out in the Hydro. When gymnastics comes around,

:05:02. > :05:04.I think these venues could be twice the size and still field because of

:05:05. > :05:10.how passionate people are about gymnastics in this country. It was

:05:11. > :05:12.fantastic. Max Whitlock and Claudia Fragapane did so well,

:05:13. > :05:18.extraordinary, three gold medals for them. Take us through the highlight

:05:19. > :05:21.of the day. You said before we came on air, beside the gymnastics coming

:05:22. > :05:27.on EU had a lovely story about a little girl and a camera on the big

:05:28. > :05:31.screen. There is a big screen and a scoreboard in the centre. This

:05:32. > :05:35.little girl came up to the edge during the warm up, and she was

:05:36. > :05:39.peering over the top. She looked up and saw herself on the big screen.

:05:40. > :05:46.She did a double-take to see if it was her. Then she just went... And

:05:47. > :05:50.then wandered off crying. It was so funny. She did not think it was that

:05:51. > :05:56.funny but I was looking at her, thinking it was brilliant.

:05:57. > :05:59.Absolutely. Let's talk about Max Whitlock in particular. Absolutely

:06:00. > :06:04.sensational, the effort he has put in and the success he has had so

:06:05. > :06:10.far, particularly on the floor. It is really difficult to put into

:06:11. > :06:13.context how great he is. This was his 13th routine of the

:06:14. > :06:19.championships so far. He looked like he had just come out. It was a

:06:20. > :06:23.brilliant performance. He is so consistent on this apparatus.

:06:24. > :06:28.European champion. You can see him getting his Commonwealth title to

:06:29. > :06:32.add to that as well. He is a really big prospect for the future. It is

:06:33. > :06:36.incredible, you say that either prospect for the future but he is

:06:37. > :06:40.picking up lots of heavy-metal already. And he has got to medals

:06:41. > :06:45.from London. I'm talking about the future, but maybe it is the past,

:06:46. > :06:48.present and future. The World Championships are coming up in

:06:49. > :06:53.October and it is a big build-up to Rio. Max and his coach have been

:06:54. > :06:59.working towards Rio. He is a great gymnast. The Japanese, good humour,

:07:00. > :07:05.seems to be a couple of marks ahead of the rest of the world, and it

:07:06. > :07:11.looks like Max and Sam at all the others are looking forward to that,

:07:12. > :07:13.looking forward to catching him. He was so impressive. Claudia Fragapane

:07:14. > :07:19.in the vault, when you say impressive, my goodness, she was

:07:20. > :07:25.impressive. A pocket rocket, that is her nickname. She has got bags of

:07:26. > :07:31.energy and spring. You can watch her on the vault. For such a little

:07:32. > :07:35.girl, she has got so much power. She is so dynamic. She is really suited

:07:36. > :07:40.to gymnastics, especially on the floor, the vault and the balance

:07:41. > :07:46.beam, where she excels. It is the acrobatic pieces of apparatus.

:07:47. > :07:50.Unbelievable, the way that she seems to attack in particular the vault.

:07:51. > :07:52.You say she is a pocket rocket but she is aggressive in the way she

:07:53. > :07:59.approaches everything and pulls it off with grace as well. She is,

:08:00. > :08:03.technically superb as well. We were looking at her second pulled because

:08:04. > :08:08.if she is going to compete on the world stage, you need two really

:08:09. > :08:12.good thoughts. Her second one is quite simple. -- really good

:08:13. > :08:18.thoughts. I think there is another twist she can add, to pressure into

:08:19. > :08:22.world and hopefully a big medals. Talking about English success,

:08:23. > :08:25.clearly fantastic but on the horse as well, a very popular medal for a

:08:26. > :08:29.Scottish fellow, obviously a member of Team GB as well but a very

:08:30. > :08:34.popular medal, not only amongst the British team but for the English

:08:35. > :08:41.team as well. I would probably say the pommel horse final was the final

:08:42. > :08:46.of the games. It was Max Whitlock on the European champion, against his

:08:47. > :08:50.fellow team-mate, Daniel Keatings, and then obviously, this is Louis

:08:51. > :08:57.Smith, coming out of retirement, well, you never look -- he never

:08:58. > :09:01.officially retired but making his comeback. Max had a bit of a warble,

:09:02. > :09:04.and they struggle coming back down and regaining composure but this

:09:05. > :09:08.routine from start to finish from Dan Keating is, there you go, that

:09:09. > :09:14.is a very difficult skill, straight into another difficult skill. It was

:09:15. > :09:19.absolutely packed. He was the only person to go into the 16 Broad on

:09:20. > :09:23.that apparatus. As soon as he landed, you saw the rest of his

:09:24. > :09:30.team-mates, England, the endless pages, jumping up and down. -- into

:09:31. > :09:36.the 16s. He is a really popular gymnast in the camp. I was made up

:09:37. > :09:42.for him, I really was. Hopefully, that is a bit of, identity no, a

:09:43. > :09:47.sweetener for him not being part of London? This is his Olympics. You

:09:48. > :09:51.could see the crowd going absolutely bonkers. I remember when Steve Frew

:09:52. > :09:57.won his Commonwealth medal a few years ago. It was such an amazing

:09:58. > :10:01.successful Scotland in gymnastics. But the fact that Scotland are now

:10:02. > :10:05.expected to win medals on the floor, it shows the change in the whole

:10:06. > :10:11.outlook for gymnastics in Scotland and Team GB. Yes, there has been a

:10:12. > :10:15.massive shift in Scottish gymnastics and Welsh as well. I was so

:10:16. > :10:20.impressed by Clinton Purnell yesterday. He was in qualification,

:10:21. > :10:24.just missing out on the medal but he performed extremely well. It is

:10:25. > :10:30.great to see. England, Scotland and Wales, vying for the medals. It is

:10:31. > :10:32.going to be the same today. That is the thing, you were saying that

:10:33. > :10:36.perhaps there would be medals for the Ingush boys but we knew that

:10:37. > :10:42.yesterday, and chances for the Scottish boys as well, but more and

:10:43. > :10:45.more, a chance, for the home nations to continue their dominance. The

:10:46. > :10:55.Canadians did pretty well on the rings but the home nationss -- home

:10:56. > :10:58.nations' dominance continues. Scotland have a real prospect on the

:10:59. > :11:02.parallel bars with Frank Baines, qualifying in top spot. He has shown

:11:03. > :11:06.real mature T, along with Nile Wilson. These are the boys that are

:11:07. > :11:11.going to be adding out people like Louis Smith and Kristian Thomas. --

:11:12. > :11:19.edging out. We have talked about a few stops, and I have been listening

:11:20. > :11:23.in. -- a few sports. The youngsters have their fire in the belly. Not

:11:24. > :11:29.just in competition but in training as well. Getting up at 6am, or 4am,

:11:30. > :11:35.going to the pool, 7am, to go to the gymnastics. That is what they have.

:11:36. > :11:41.It is really great to see. I am looking forward to today's

:11:42. > :11:44.performances. I hope Frank Baines wins the parallel bars because

:11:45. > :11:48.everyone should have a taste of the success. Thomas has not had such a

:11:49. > :11:56.brilliant games but he is renowned for his faulting. -- vaulting.

:11:57. > :12:05.Claudia Fragapane is into events today, and she will win the floor if

:12:06. > :12:09.she is on her game, but it is the dreaded bean. I give you a medal

:12:10. > :12:13.just for going up there. You are saying about the young people, the

:12:14. > :12:16.fact they are able to look towards getting medals is because people are

:12:17. > :12:21.doing that ahead of them, Whitlock, Keating 's, service, they are

:12:22. > :12:27.looking at it and they know it can be achieved. If I think back to my

:12:28. > :12:33.timing donor sticks, we did not have Louis Smith or Beth Tweddle. -- my

:12:34. > :12:37.time in gymnastics. It was unknown territory. To try to go up to big

:12:38. > :12:42.competitions and make a final seemed like a massive achievement. I think

:12:43. > :12:46.we won something like 23 medals in the European Championships recently.

:12:47. > :12:50.That was unheard of. You can't really underestimate what people

:12:51. > :12:55.like Louis Smith and Beth Tweddle have done for the sport of

:12:56. > :13:00.gymnastics, fall of the home nations. It is something they should

:13:01. > :13:03.be really proud of. -- for all of the home nations. Louis Smith might

:13:04. > :13:07.be a bit disappointed with his performance but he has done an

:13:08. > :13:13.incredible amount already. It will be a fantastic day of gymnastics.

:13:14. > :13:16.Thank you for joining us. Looking back on yesterday's success and

:13:17. > :13:20.today's potential success. Jade Jones will be joining me very soon.

:13:21. > :13:22.She picked up a medal last night on the track and this is how she did

:13:23. > :13:31.it. COMMENTATOR: She is a real grafter,

:13:32. > :13:35.won a bronze in Beijing. Perhaps she has not had the success on the track

:13:36. > :13:38.we would have expected but it is so hard for these women right now. They

:13:39. > :13:43.are all watching each other. It is about who is going to be brave and

:13:44. > :13:46.take it out early. Roy has started to kick, picking up the pace and

:13:47. > :13:52.making it hard on the rest of the pack. They come and to take the bell

:13:53. > :13:56.and Shelly Woods is still a long way back. Jade Jones is in the best

:13:57. > :14:00.position at the moment. Roy in the front and Ballard on the inside and

:14:01. > :14:05.Christie Dawes behind her. Then Jade Jones, the youngster. And now Roy,

:14:06. > :14:10.from the front, pushing hard, and Shelly Woods is a long way off the

:14:11. > :14:14.pace. It is Ballard who has tucked in behind the Canadian. Down the

:14:15. > :14:19.back straight. They are all completely spread out as Roy has

:14:20. > :14:28.pushed on from the front and has really stretch them out. And Jade

:14:29. > :14:32.Jones is into third place. Still an opportunity. Roy is at the front,

:14:33. > :14:35.the veteran of the field, and sitting behind her, Ballard of

:14:36. > :14:41.Australia. Jones is not far behind and maybe she can find a bit extra.

:14:42. > :14:45.Roy, still pushing hard. As Ballard got the pace? It is going to be a

:14:46. > :14:50.tight finish. The Australian might just about do it. It is going to be

:14:51. > :14:57.gold, for Australia. Roy has to settle for silver. And an excellent

:14:58. > :15:00.bronze medal for Jade Jones. 3:59, the winning time, and it was all

:15:01. > :15:06.about tactics, being patient, difficult conditions. Roy did so

:15:07. > :15:07.much of the work. Jade Jones just kept herself in a good position all

:15:08. > :15:11.along. kept herself in a good position all

:15:12. > :15:15.Shelly Woods will be so disappointed with our performance today, I'm

:15:16. > :15:20.sure. She was never really in it, never really close enough. When it

:15:21. > :15:24.got going, Jones was just about in the right spot. She did not quite

:15:25. > :15:29.have the power of the other two. She is only 18 but that is a bronze

:15:30. > :15:31.medal for Jade Jones of England. Well done to Ballard, perfectly

:15:32. > :15:53.judged and well timed. a slightly fresher Jade Jones.

:15:54. > :15:57.Congratulations. It was so incredible, I am just so happy. Is

:15:58. > :16:00.that the first time we have seen you -- that you have seen yourself

:16:01. > :16:04.winning the bronze medal? Yes, it is the first I have seen it

:16:05. > :16:08.all the way through. It is incredible to watch it back. When I

:16:09. > :16:12.crossed the line I could not believe it. I had to wait for it to come up

:16:13. > :16:17.on the screen before I believed I was in third.

:16:18. > :16:21.The conditions last night, it was a typical Glasgow's summers evening,

:16:22. > :16:25.but a lot of rain around. How does that affect the handling of the

:16:26. > :16:30.chair? On the 1500 metres you are going around four times, does it

:16:31. > :16:34.affect handling on the corners? Not so much that, when you push in

:16:35. > :16:40.the rain it is really slippy. It affects people in different ways. I

:16:41. > :16:44.remember when Glasgow got announced as the nation that was going to be

:16:45. > :16:48.holding the Commonwealth Games, my coach said, chances are it could

:16:49. > :16:54.rain, so we're going to have to have something in place. I prepared for

:16:55. > :16:57.the rain and I think I had prepared a bit better than some of the other

:16:58. > :17:01.girls had. It affects people in different ways. I went into it ready

:17:02. > :17:06.for that, so it did not affect me too much.

:17:07. > :17:11.Here is the finish coming over, you said you could not believe you got

:17:12. > :17:17.the bronze medal itself. There is the bronze medal presentation, Tanni

:17:18. > :17:21.Grey-Thompson, your coach, giving you a medal. I think she was crying,

:17:22. > :17:26.wasn't she? She was, it was such an amazing

:17:27. > :17:30.opportunity to have her present it to make it was incredible. The fact

:17:31. > :17:33.that you won the bronze medal for the Commonwealth Games was

:17:34. > :17:40.sensational but the fact that your coach and someone who been such a

:17:41. > :17:43.brilliant athlete, it must be super specialty was there to share the

:17:44. > :17:48.moment? Yes, definitely. When I started she

:17:49. > :17:51.was the one that got me into racing. To have that came to support all the

:17:52. > :17:55.way through my career, it is incredible. She has been there and

:17:56. > :18:00.done it all, she went to the Paralympics, she has the medals and

:18:01. > :18:03.experience and to pass that down to me is incredible.

:18:04. > :18:09.I heard John Inverdale talking the other day about the women's boxing,

:18:10. > :18:13.the first time women's boxing has been in the Commonwealth Games, the

:18:14. > :18:16.Para-sport events are in with the main events and it almost feels like

:18:17. > :18:20.they have been here forever and maybe it should be.

:18:21. > :18:24.I'm important is it for you that the athletics meet and you are in

:18:25. > :18:27.amongst other athletes, as well, the medal ceremonies happen at the same

:18:28. > :18:32.time, it is a real sport and it is being recognised. Yes, at previous

:18:33. > :18:36.Commonwealth Games there had been a wheelchair events but the medals did

:18:37. > :18:44.not count towards the tally. It provides such a good platform for

:18:45. > :18:48.Para-sport 's and to showcase wheelchair racing at such a major

:18:49. > :18:52.level and for it to be integrated so well is amazing.

:18:53. > :18:57.You are only 18 at the moment, you already have a bronze medal at the

:18:58. > :19:01.Commonwealth Games, what is next? I have the Europeans in a couple of

:19:02. > :19:10.weeks, so no rest, back to training. Then I have the worlds next year, it

:19:11. > :19:13.is all go. Listen, you entertained us thoroughly last night, wonderful

:19:14. > :19:17.to see you when you're bronze medal in great to see you, so happy to get

:19:18. > :19:20.the bronze medal from your coach who was clearly interiors!

:19:21. > :19:26.That is the best thing about these Games, lots of tears, as well. Many

:19:27. > :19:29.congratulations and good luck in the future, as well.

:19:30. > :19:32.We will head over to Kelvingrove, with a chance for Jersey to win

:19:33. > :19:39.their first Commonwealth medal for 24 years. It is Jersey against

:19:40. > :19:47.Northern Ireland and Rishi Persad is there for us. What is happening?

:19:48. > :19:59.Hello, DVDs. After four ends, Jersey are trailing at the moment. -- hello

:20:00. > :20:04.Dougie. It is a busy day year, we have the final of the women's

:20:05. > :20:07.pairs, the final of the men's fours, and after that it is the final of

:20:08. > :20:15.the men's singles. But medals on offer today, but it is

:20:16. > :20:20.Northern Ireland against Jersey, 4-3 to Jersey at four ends. Don't

:20:21. > :20:25.forget, it is the highest aggregate score after 18 ends that wins the

:20:26. > :20:31.medal. Let's join our commentators, John Price and Paul Mitchell.

:20:32. > :20:37.COMMENTATOR: I think it is early enough in the game.

:20:38. > :20:43.Unique that out, you are going to get three. Get it the wrong way, you

:20:44. > :20:53.are only dropping one. -- you make that out. Bronze medal play-off.

:20:54. > :21:00.I think she will only go one down. If she gets the second bowl solid,

:21:01. > :21:05.she gets a three. If she does get the jack, she will go with it. The

:21:06. > :21:06.worst result is the back end of your own bowl, that would be very

:21:07. > :21:18.unlucky. I know that Mr Thompson would try

:21:19. > :21:26.this. He would, no question. Andy Thompson would go for this.

:21:27. > :21:35.A good coach would just say, he sensed the fact she did not fancy

:21:36. > :21:41.the shot, no point in playing it. You have to be sure.

:21:42. > :22:05.Interesting decision. It was a good opportunity, Paul. She could have

:22:06. > :22:10.gone one down, but she would have been really unlucky.

:22:11. > :22:17.Yes, the percentages were in her favour. But, I suppose, if you do

:22:18. > :22:23.give the shot away, then it is for each, you think, I should have been

:22:24. > :22:27.two ahead. It is a decision sports people have to meet all the time. We

:22:28. > :22:28.shall have to have a word about that later on when we see her. We will

:22:29. > :22:42.have a chat about that decision. I would like to have a little banter

:22:43. > :22:45.with the coach, I will tell him, I thought you were an attacking coach?

:22:46. > :22:49.! He has part of the bus, Paul. That

:22:50. > :22:56.is a good phrase, he has parked the bus fare.

:22:57. > :23:01.He is a good lad, he does not mind as having a little dated.

:23:02. > :23:05.Definitely not. -- he does not mind us having a

:23:06. > :23:09.little dig. Very good, Katie Nixon. Big smiles,

:23:10. > :23:25.enjoying it. A little glance at the technology

:23:26. > :23:54.that is on offer to us. It can be an added consideration, as

:23:55. > :24:00.well, John, these players are not necessarily used to being in front

:24:01. > :24:04.of the television cameras. That is an added bonus of being part of the

:24:05. > :24:09.Commonwealth Games. If you get success, the cameras will come

:24:10. > :24:11.calling. It is certainly a chance to enhance your profile, isn't it? Make

:24:12. > :24:33.a name for yourself. Played in Delhi as part of the

:24:34. > :25:01.triples, Mandy Cunningham of Northern Ireland.

:25:02. > :26:08.Well, just have to it and ran on through. -- just halfed it.

:26:09. > :26:18.I don't fancy that line. She was told very quickly by Katie

:26:19. > :26:24.that she was tight. Yes, she is aware of that short,

:26:25. > :26:25.Northern Ireland bowl. She does not want to push the end. This makes it

:26:26. > :26:50.difficult. Well played.

:26:51. > :26:54.Well, she left the door Open. In a way it is easy enough for her, Paul,

:26:55. > :27:04.she can afford to be more positive. She got a good bowl through the

:27:05. > :27:09.jack. Certainly worth playing this. She has a chance here.

:27:10. > :27:30.Well, removed the wrong one. It was a good try, just maybe

:27:31. > :28:21.attired overweight to get the bend. -- a tad.

:28:22. > :28:43.Very well played. That opened it up and two shots.

:28:44. > :29:18.It is a little bit chilly around here, you have to stay warm.

:29:19. > :31:16.Mum has given up her court there. -- court -- jacket.

:31:17. > :31:18.time about it, but well through, though. A little loose, this end, at

:31:19. > :31:31.the moment. Just overplayed that. It would have

:31:32. > :31:51.gone all the way, I think. Katie Nixon, the line was good. Can

:31:52. > :31:57.she dropped the weight off? No, still a bit too keen, overplayed

:31:58. > :32:09.that. Yes, no alteration on the shot. In fact, slightly heavier.

:32:10. > :32:12.Northern Ireland lying one. You cannot be perfect for all 18 ends.

:32:13. > :32:18.If nothing else, it is consistent, they are still there, still

:32:19. > :32:46.available to the skip, if she can get a little trail.

:32:47. > :32:51.Barbara Cameron at her fifth Commonwealth Games. She is looking

:32:52. > :33:00.for her first Commonwealth Games medal. She last played in Melbourne,

:33:01. > :33:53.in 2006. It just gets in, there. A good line.

:33:54. > :33:59.She properly had 18 inches left, for that, got inside the back bowl. Any

:34:00. > :34:07.movement on the Jack would be really good, here. Very close with this, if

:34:08. > :34:15.it runs, very close. Great shot, good bowl.

:34:16. > :34:31.There it is, coming in. Excellent bowl, there.

:34:32. > :34:41.That is well played by Jersey. Some food for thought for Mandy

:34:42. > :34:44.Cunningham and Barbara Cameron. They had a terrific match in the

:34:45. > :34:53.quarterfinal against New Zealand, winning 14-10. They just could not

:34:54. > :34:55.find their way past the English pair of Jamie-Lea Winch and Natalie

:34:56. > :35:14.Melmore. Did Barbara want to swap onto the

:35:15. > :35:18.other side of the green, her backhand, to try to get a shot of

:35:19. > :35:32.the second bowl. Slightly down, falling. -- for length. She will

:35:33. > :35:34.persevere on the forehand, I think. It needs a very good weight on this,

:35:35. > :35:48.dead weight. The weight was pretty good. It was a

:35:49. > :36:09.good attempt. There was not much for being heavy on that side.

:36:10. > :36:20.The heavens have opened in Glasgow and the rain is coming on strong.

:36:21. > :36:43.Dipping away. Wanted to put the ball out. A little touch on that and you

:36:44. > :37:57.are away. A single shot. is a good story to tell. -- whoever

:37:58. > :38:27.scores this medal. That is not like Katie. Both of

:38:28. > :38:33.these have been playing good bowls. I am sure it is only a minor setback

:38:34. > :38:37.at the moment. Yes, she will redouble her efforts. That is a good

:38:38. > :38:47.adjustment by Mandy Cunningham. She adjusted the line and the

:38:48. > :39:06.weight. Come on, Katie, run it out. Well

:39:07. > :39:08.played. APPLAUSE Back on song. That was played to

:39:09. > :39:54.order. So, Jersey live one. -- Jersey lie

:39:55. > :39:59.one. This is not easy. She has to be careful she does not move the shot

:40:00. > :40:02.bowl. Anything onto the Jack is not really good from a Jersey

:40:03. > :40:15.perspective. Inside the shot bowl is very good. Inside the rest of

:40:16. > :40:25.Sensible decision, to go on the forehand. She does not want too

:40:26. > :40:32.much. That is a good result. That is OK.

:40:33. > :40:46.It is better that you do it before your opponent does.

:40:47. > :40:52.Jersey bowl, either side of the Jack. That is an improvement but

:40:53. > :40:58.there is still a target for Barbara Cameron, if she can play good

:40:59. > :41:15.weight, turn the Jacaranda Corner. -- turn the Jack around the corner.

:41:16. > :41:23.She has put that on a line. Very tight with that. Do you want to

:41:24. > :41:52.change your hand? It is up to you. Lindsey Greechan, looking to reach

:41:53. > :41:57.onto the bowls. Getting closer to the Jack, resting on it, now. But it

:41:58. > :42:00.is the same shot, isn't it, turning the Jack around the corner, Barbara,

:42:01. > :42:30.reaching it with a couple of feet? I mean, I would play this on the

:42:31. > :42:34.other side if I was Lindsay. If she gets her own bowl solid, she moves

:42:35. > :42:38.the Jack closer to her own bowl. If she gets the Jack on the wrong side,

:42:39. > :42:44.she could turn it on to the Northern Ireland bowl, of the backhand. The

:42:45. > :42:52.forehand suddenly becomes a much more attractive shot. She has got to

:42:53. > :42:57.persevere on the backhand. I think she is hoping to go past it. That is

:42:58. > :43:02.a very inside line. That is the trouble, you see, playing a little

:43:03. > :43:10.bit negative. The forehand shot looked a more positive shots to

:43:11. > :43:13.play. -- positive shot. Also interesting for Barbara Cameron

:43:14. > :43:22.because potentially, she could get it wrong and drop a two. But she

:43:23. > :43:25.does have the best back bowl. So you are probably better to be slightly

:43:26. > :43:31.overweight than underweight because that could do more damage. I think

:43:32. > :43:36.she will play this with controlled weight. If she gets the Jack

:43:37. > :44:02.through, as you say, she has the back bowl.

:44:03. > :44:09.Here she comes. She is looking tight. If I was going to be playing

:44:10. > :44:16.with that weight, I would have played it of the other hand because

:44:17. > :44:18.it is the better hand. -- off the other hand. But she decided to go

:44:19. > :44:45.off the backhand and a single shot. the Games and their first medal

:44:46. > :44:51.since 1990, Jersey lead Northern Ireland. Members of the Jersey media

:44:52. > :44:56.are overcoming the Games, they have made their way to Kelvingrove. This

:44:57. > :45:11.is the place where the story will come.

:45:12. > :45:15.We can see the four greens here at Kelvingrove, there is another one

:45:16. > :45:22.just over the road beside the Kelvingrove, there is another one

:45:23. > :45:27.practice green. Two oranges today on the final day of the lawn bowls

:45:28. > :45:33.competition. -- two are in use today.

:45:34. > :45:42.Yes, and if Jersey did take the medal here it is a good start for

:45:43. > :45:47.them to build on for the future. The men's team is a very young team.

:45:48. > :45:51.They have some good players there and they played very well in the

:45:52. > :45:59.fours, we covered them one evening session. Really good bowls.

:46:00. > :46:02.Hopefully, if those guys stick together, they can achieve some

:46:03. > :46:12.success in major championships. Well, Jersey are involved in the UK

:46:13. > :47:02.in the home international series. Yes, it is all good weight on those

:47:03. > :47:09.bowls. Needs a contact, solid contact.

:47:10. > :47:17.Flying with that. But it is the best back, so you never know.

:47:18. > :48:13.Northern Ireland have a little bit of position here, that Jersey bowl

:48:14. > :48:49.is in a good place. On the wide line, any weight down

:48:50. > :48:59.there as a chance of getting back. A little bit of an adjustment

:49:00. > :49:01.required. Looks better with this.

:49:02. > :49:19.This has a chance. And it comes. That looked good all the way, and

:49:20. > :49:26.the marker put the two blue marks in the air to signal two shots almost

:49:27. > :49:41.before that bowl came to a complete stop.

:49:42. > :49:48.A little bit of injury to the jack if if she was overweight. I think

:49:49. > :49:53.she will play the same drawer. -- a little bit of danger.

:49:54. > :49:58.Yes, there is danger of that, the Northern Ireland bowls are waiting.

:49:59. > :50:22.As long as she is good weight, not a problem.

:50:23. > :50:28.A touch and it would be very good. Trying to get there is the job of

:50:29. > :51:21.Barbara Cameron. I think that will probably be a true

:51:22. > :51:26.of friction at the moment, not a lot in the game but Jersey have outside

:51:27. > :51:34.advantage. Just been playing slightly better,

:51:35. > :51:40.won the last three ends. -- a true reflection. Well, the mat

:51:41. > :51:50.is up, how far as the jack up? I think that is up comfortably. Even

:51:51. > :51:55.with my eyesight! It has to pass two tests, the first

:51:56. > :51:56.one is the John Price eyesight test, and if it feels that, then the

:51:57. > :52:58.measure. -- if it fails that. Good length again. Mandy Cunningham.

:52:59. > :53:04.Barbara Cameron called on the other side then. Difficult this. Got a

:53:05. > :53:12.solid. Got away with that, bit overweight.

:53:13. > :53:47.This is Katie Nixon. And very successful player for jersey.

:53:48. > :54:05.Well, you know, nothing particularly close. I am confident Lindsey will

:54:06. > :54:11.draw inside that, she has been playing well.

:54:12. > :54:17.Playing the forehand, the main thing is you hit the right line on it. Get

:54:18. > :54:19.inside and it will swing away, but it the right line and you have a

:54:20. > :54:27.chance. Yes, a good example there of it just

:54:28. > :55:37.starting to swing away. A good weight, this, this will start

:55:38. > :56:18.to drop. Just didn't send it. Three shots.

:56:19. > :56:24.This is what the players like to see, the flag was absolutely still.

:56:25. > :56:26.No wind. There has been a couple of tricky days when the wind has been

:56:27. > :56:38.up. That really needed a little more of

:56:39. > :56:44.a push. It has turned it into a measure.

:56:45. > :56:53.She would have loved to have turned that over just that little bit.

:56:54. > :57:02.It is difficult to see from our angle. She has moved that bowl 16

:57:03. > :57:04.inches, probably. I do not think she is three down now, but she could

:57:05. > :57:25.easily still be one down. Well, she is having a look to CF,

:57:26. > :57:31.potentially she could do, but it is not a particularly tight pair of

:57:32. > :57:35.bowls. It depends what she thinks she is

:57:36. > :57:46.holding. If she is holding more than one, she has to be careful, there is

:57:47. > :57:53.what of danger. She might be worth playing the last bowl. Still no

:57:54. > :57:56.indication from Catherine Kenny, the marker.

:57:57. > :58:07.Now there is, one shot being held by Northern Ireland. Just the one.

:58:08. > :58:17.Well, she is playing the bowl. Very close, too, very close. She has got

:58:18. > :58:31.it clean. That is a great bowl. As clean as.

:58:32. > :58:35.Contact absolutely solid, and it hung around, too. There could be

:58:36. > :58:38.four in this. As I said, Paul, if she was only

:58:39. > :58:43.holding the one it might have been worth playing at, and she did play

:58:44. > :58:48.it. If she was holding two, she probably would not have bothered.

:58:49. > :58:53.That was a good shot by Barbara Cameron, good choice, executed

:58:54. > :58:59.really well. It is a four.

:59:00. > :59:06.All of the work done by Jersey in the last three ends to take a four

:59:07. > :59:11.shot lead is wiped out there on the 10th end. Eight to play, and all to

:59:12. > :00:42.play for. That is a good opener. Jersey were

:00:43. > :00:55.disappointed to drop four, there. They need to compose themselves

:00:56. > :01:08.again. Mandy is close. A good place, that, at the back.

:01:09. > :01:23.Good again. Come on, come in. APPLAUSE

:01:24. > :01:30.A good weight. The only disadvantage is, it stopped right by the side of

:01:31. > :01:36.the Jack, the truck man -- track Mandy has gone down. But she has

:01:37. > :01:50.pulled in the line. Just underneath. Now, then, close this down. And

:01:51. > :01:57.identical bowl to the last. -- and identical.

:01:58. > :02:06.Decent line, very decent line with this. Well played, great bowl.

:02:07. > :03:05.Second prize, there. Just not holding up for Northern

:03:06. > :03:08.Ireland, there. Katie is playing for the back position. I don't know if I

:03:09. > :03:14.would have tried to play that, I would have boasted of. If she moves

:03:15. > :03:21.the Jack, even a foot, it could be a bit too negative. She has wasted a

:03:22. > :03:26.bowl, now, leaving that open. That is OK, there. A nothing bowl in the

:03:27. > :03:30.end because the Jack will go the other way. I would go with the

:03:31. > :03:34.opponent, if you're playing good weight, you tuck the Jack, and if

:03:35. > :03:42.you are a foot down, you are closing the end down, but they have left

:03:43. > :03:49.them another opportunity at this. She does not need to be invited

:03:50. > :03:55.twice to have a go. Here she comes. That is a good point that you make,

:03:56. > :04:01.John. Your opponent has still got to play it but the chance was given to

:04:02. > :04:05.them. Yes, it is a good bowl. And the back position is certainly

:04:06. > :04:15.mixed, anyway. A good second out of that, now. She must stay on the

:04:16. > :04:27.backhand. She has got to stay there, and get to the last bowl.

:04:28. > :04:35.It is a Northern Ireland bowl. It has changed out, she played the

:04:36. > :04:37.wrong shot with the first bowl and her headers with Northern Ireland

:04:38. > :04:41.because Barbara can afford to play this, and if she gets the bowl for

:04:42. > :04:48.two, she will get the Jack, 42-macro. It is all about playing

:04:49. > :04:58.the right shot at the right time. -- for two. It just goes to show, the

:04:59. > :05:03.bowl furthest on the left of your screen as you look at it was a

:05:04. > :05:06.nothing shot. It is the first time I have questioned Lindsay's judgement.

:05:07. > :05:11.I thought she has played a really good game, made good cause, but she

:05:12. > :05:15.had a chance to close down the end and score three or four herself, and

:05:16. > :05:42.took the pressure off Barbara a little bit. -- made good calls.

:05:43. > :06:00.Of the forehand, with a bit of pace to it. It is in the area. If the

:06:01. > :06:09.It is a quiet draw, now, that is all she has got. Yes, it does not look

:06:10. > :06:27.like there is too much danger. Off the backhand.

:06:28. > :06:38.A sideways grip, then turning the hand. Mayor gently, gently. A bit

:06:39. > :07:16.pacey, but she is OK, no damage. Well, we hoped for a tight game and

:07:17. > :07:20.that is precisely what we have got in the battle for the bronze

:07:21. > :07:32.It has been a good game, too. Yes, some good bowls played, good shots

:07:33. > :07:36.played. It would be lovely if this weather could just move through.

:07:37. > :07:45.played. It would be lovely if this bit of sun shining would be lovely

:07:46. > :07:52.for everybody watching here. A big day at the Kelvingrove Lawn Bowls

:07:53. > :07:53.Centre. The women's pairs, the men's fours and then the men's singles to

:07:54. > :08:13.close out the competition. Katie played a really good end, the

:08:14. > :08:23.last one, but a Rush of blood with the first bowl in dissent. She needs

:08:24. > :08:54.to take a breath. -- in this end. That is a better bowl.

:08:55. > :09:17.Now, then, Katie. A good line, and has it got the wait? -- weight.

:09:18. > :09:30.I don't know about this. It has to get past the front.

:09:31. > :10:01.Northern Ireland lie two. Arguably, Jersey have the nicer back bowl.

:10:02. > :10:07.It is a decent line. She wants the Jack. The Jack is good. She played

:10:08. > :10:27.it well. APPLAUSE That is a really good delivery. It

:10:28. > :10:29.is good stuff. I am sure her husband, Tommy is in the crowd and

:10:30. > :10:37.he will be well pleased with that one. The Mrs done good. She has

:10:38. > :10:42.played very well. All four players are playing their part to make this

:10:43. > :10:53.a very interesting tussle. That is the Jersey coach, Andy Thomson.

:10:54. > :11:05.She will be further to this. -- firm to this. There is more than one way

:11:06. > :11:15.to do it. She used a bowl to get across. One down. She is sensible.

:11:16. > :11:19.She is going to play the same side. You can see, that is the angle and

:11:20. > :11:24.she was there, a bit fortunate but played it with good weight. Now

:11:25. > :11:29.Lindsay pulling the line onto this one. Way into the line. She just

:11:30. > :11:34.needed to play the same line as the first bowl. Both goals coming in

:11:35. > :11:43.that way, a little wider, belonged to Jersey. That will be frustrating

:11:44. > :12:13.for her. -- both bowls coming in that way.

:12:14. > :12:24.The wait was good on that bowl. -- weight. Just sticks a bit when you

:12:25. > :12:32.get to the high line, off centre. It does not move.

:12:33. > :12:45.An important delivery now for in C. -- for Lindsey Greechan.

:12:46. > :12:50.She is in two minds. Don't look down that side, you have played two down

:12:51. > :12:58.that side so to swap on the last that side, you have played two down

:12:59. > :13:04.will be difficult. It looks tempting. But it is not the shot to

:13:05. > :13:10.play. Just play down the same line, increase the weight by a yard. It

:13:11. > :13:17.looks better if it gets back. She has pushed it a bit too much. The

:13:18. > :13:21.weight she wanted, she had to promote those bowls. It was probably

:13:22. > :13:30.a metre overweight, that is all, not a lot. It would have turned the

:13:31. > :13:35.bowls over, and then... I still think it was the right shot to play.

:13:36. > :13:36.To swap sides on an outdoor green with your last bowl is sorry

:13:37. > :14:06.difficult. -- very difficult. That is how difficult it is out

:14:07. > :14:27.there. 1-shot, to Northern Ireland. They are sticking together. It is

:14:28. > :14:34.going to be a tense last third of this game. The quality has been

:14:35. > :14:45.good. We trust it will continue. 10-10.

:14:46. > :15:18.There is no good way to whereupon show! -- to wear a poncho!

:15:19. > :15:26.The crowd is building in the stands. It is a big afternoon for Scotland.

:15:27. > :15:33.The men's fours final coming up, Scotland against England. And then

:15:34. > :15:40.the men's singles gold up for grabs. Canada, looking for their

:15:41. > :15:42.first ever gold medal in the Commonwealth Games lawn bowls

:15:43. > :17:31.discipline. She pleaded well, but such a big

:17:32. > :17:33.swing away. If you don't quite get it perfect, you are in trouble. --

:17:34. > :17:49.she played it well. A little bit frustrating, that

:17:50. > :18:25.aside. You think you are good and you just go under.

:18:26. > :18:46.Lindsey Greechan is going playing a lot of weight here. She

:18:47. > :18:50.will hold that. She could fit a second bowl.

:18:51. > :18:55.Got a chance, it's it firm. Nicely played, gets it through.

:18:56. > :18:59.That is an improvement, it is down to one and left them with three

:19:00. > :19:37.microseconds -- three seconds. Lindsey is going to play this

:19:38. > :19:44.again, I think. She does, she wants to go firmly at it, get the two

:19:45. > :19:47.bowls. Will it get down off that line?

:19:48. > :19:55.Just hitting there. I feel Barbra will play the same

:19:56. > :20:59.line as the last delivery. She has going for a cover of bowl in

:21:00. > :21:04.this corner of the rink, the bottom left-hand corner.

:21:05. > :21:09.I am not sure of the value of that, to be honest with you.

:21:10. > :21:19.I am not convinced, either. You start to have a look and think,

:21:20. > :21:26.where could it go? She is lying two. Lindsey has had a pop at the bowls

:21:27. > :22:03.with her first and second. She will be tempted to go again.

:22:04. > :22:20.Well, she decided against it, she is going to draw off the forehand.

:22:21. > :22:25.She gave that a good chance. Just didn't run enough. A little bit more

:22:26. > :22:48.weight. Two shots. I just thought she might have gone

:22:49. > :22:52.again then. She went with the second bowl and nothing really changed. If

:22:53. > :22:56.it is the right shot with the second bowl, it is the right shot with the

:22:57. > :22:59.third. Yes, Northern Ireland take the lead

:23:00. > :23:05.for the very first time in the match, 12-10. It is always an

:23:06. > :23:09.interesting thought, as you mentioned, if it has been the right

:23:10. > :23:16.shot to play, to try at, and bearing in mind there is only two down, if

:23:17. > :23:21.it was five or six time you would try with the weight shot to save,

:23:22. > :23:28.but in those circumstances... She was unlikely to go more than two

:23:29. > :23:32.down. Yes.

:23:33. > :23:37.They have to guard against it at this stage, jersey, made a very

:23:38. > :23:41.positive demand if he let it start getting to them they will start

:23:42. > :23:46.choking on a few shots. A couple of times you have praised

:23:47. > :23:51.Lindsey Greechan for her shot decision, but a couple of times in

:23:52. > :23:54.the last couple of ends a little bit of disagreement.

:23:55. > :23:57.A bit of self doubt, it is the business end of the match now and

:23:58. > :24:01.you have to be positive. You have to go and win it. It is not going to be

:24:02. > :24:20.given to you. Played well, pretty steady all

:24:21. > :24:33.through. Good effort. It just needs to run.

:24:34. > :25:01.Just refusing to do so. That is good fanfare. -- round

:25:02. > :25:16.there. Well, it is a good effort for a

:25:17. > :25:46.chance. Northern Ireland and live the shot,

:25:47. > :26:38.jersey with the three blue bowls rake in front. -- live the shot.

:26:39. > :26:46.That is a really good bowl. Needed another one there.

:26:47. > :26:55.It had a nice swing to it, it came back well.

:26:56. > :27:24.Similar shot required, perhaps. Make sure you are reaching, though.

:27:25. > :27:30.Well, played it on the forehand to try and promote. Did not like it

:27:31. > :27:52.immediately. That is dipping underneath, as well.

:27:53. > :27:58.This could be another bowl down the green. Not easy for Lindsey.

:27:59. > :28:12.Yes, a little bit of weight. Drifting across, what has she got?

:28:13. > :28:19.That is a great bowl. That is the way she has been playing, nice and

:28:20. > :28:26.positive. That is a great bowl. Even Andy Thompson is on his feet at the

:28:27. > :28:33.back of the rink. It was there, she took it. Well

:28:34. > :28:42.played. Just held up enough, through the gap, a little touch, left and

:28:43. > :28:48.right. They were Jersey bowls she came off.

:28:49. > :28:55.The jack jammed in right at the very back.

:28:56. > :29:00.It is a little way from the jack, but it will be difficult to beat on

:29:01. > :29:05.this length. Of course just been right at the

:29:06. > :29:10.back, as well, it just takes another few inches and gives the advantage

:29:11. > :29:12.to the bowl and of the Jack. If that was right at the front you have a

:29:13. > :29:29.little more room to play with. A draw to the edge of the ditch

:29:30. > :29:36.required. Barbara Cameron. A little chance here. She has to go

:29:37. > :29:42.to the draw shot after the drive, but it is a good opportunity.

:29:43. > :29:48.Scurrying down. Take your time, girl. Deep breath.

:29:49. > :29:50.Every bowl is important now. Well, just seeing a little bit of

:29:51. > :30:08.adrenaline there. Needs to run under that, needs to

:30:09. > :30:19.run under that... She is going to get away with that.

:30:20. > :30:25.Never quite got fat on the line. Still enough, though. Just enough.

:30:26. > :30:43.A little bit fortuitous, she got away with it.

:30:44. > :30:54.Commonwealth Games are called, it has been 9-9, ten have -- 10-10, and

:30:55. > :31:26.now 12 - 12. Four to play. A big crowd.

:31:27. > :31:38.A quality game. Jersey and Northern Ireland. That is a good start, a

:31:39. > :31:44.length bowl, first delivery. Whoever wins this will have earned their

:31:45. > :31:46.bronze medal, really earned it. Certainly, some good bowls played by

:31:47. > :32:31.all four ladies. Andy has just bought -- Mandy has

:32:32. > :32:35.just pulled a line in, there, trying to make adjustments for the first

:32:36. > :32:37.bowl. Probably her worst two bowls of the game. Yes, she has been

:32:38. > :32:50.having a really good game. Start to move. It needs to bend a

:32:51. > :33:07.bit. Not enough to get back to centre.

:33:08. > :33:16.Yes, Mandy, well done. She has run that out well. Oh, it went a bit

:33:17. > :33:20.further than it looked. I thought that was going to stop. I think

:33:21. > :33:29.Barbara thought she had contact on the side bowl, but it just dipped.

:33:30. > :33:59.Still two shots. I thought she had got this, here.

:34:00. > :34:26.That is another shot. Three shots, lying. Nothing particularly close.

:34:27. > :34:35.A couple of moments of the green for Katie Nixon.

:34:36. > :34:50.Barbara Cameron, who made her Commonwealth Games debut in 1994,

:34:51. > :34:55.seeking her first medal. She needs the Jack, on that weight. Yes,

:34:56. > :34:59.running it through. These are dangerous ends. It is a Lucent and

:35:00. > :35:01.you could easily drop four or five, playing like this, with a loose

:35:02. > :35:24.delivery. It is a tighter line from Lindsey

:35:25. > :35:34.Greechan. Yes. Well... It could be in the count. Yes, that will count.

:35:35. > :35:40.Not a great bowl. Barbara will want to draw this one in. She won't want

:35:41. > :35:44.to leave it until the last. The danger here, having gone through, is

:35:45. > :35:50.that you might leave something a bit short. Barbara is a very experienced

:35:51. > :35:55.player. You would think she could make the adjustment. That is

:35:56. > :35:58.certainly a better line. Good play from the long-time Northern Ireland

:35:59. > :36:07.international. Here she comes. Well played. I think she has got a second

:36:08. > :36:15.out of it. It looks like second shot. She will settle for that at

:36:16. > :36:19.this stage. It is a Lucent and she gets a second off it. -- it is a

:36:20. > :36:37.loose end. She is having a quick word with the

:36:38. > :36:49.manager but I think all she has got is a draw, draw the second.

:36:50. > :36:58.Now, then. A better weight, with this. It has got a chance. APPLAUSE

:36:59. > :37:10.Well played, number Well, they could have a run at this,

:37:11. > :37:21.Northern Ireland. They have got very good back bowls, a good back

:37:22. > :37:27.position. Yes, dead bowl. We will see what happens, but those

:37:28. > :37:31.belonging to Northern Ireland have the red stickers. If she plays a

:37:32. > :37:35.forehand, she would have to be very wide to get her own bowl away, that

:37:36. > :37:41.is the only disadvantage but she would have to miss badly on the wide

:37:42. > :37:45.side. If she misses the Jack, she is going to get one of the other bowls

:37:46. > :37:52.away, to reduce the count. I would be tempted to play this. If she gets

:37:53. > :38:01.the jackfruit of the ditch, it could be a four. -- the Jack through to

:38:02. > :38:05.the ditch. Lindsey Greechan could not play anything other than she

:38:06. > :38:12.did. If Brobbel gets the jackfruit, you just have to say, " well

:38:13. > :38:27.played". -- if Barbara gets the Jack through. Very controlled weight.

:38:28. > :38:36.What is she getting? She takes one. A single shot.

:38:37. > :38:44.Well, there is more than one way to play it. The shot we were talking

:38:45. > :38:48.about would have gone a bit more. It would have gone quicker but she

:38:49. > :39:03.could have got the result and scored a second, so it was still good.

:39:04. > :39:09.The University of Glasgow in the background. We are watching the

:39:10. > :39:11.women's pairs bronze medal match, Jersey with the advantage by just a

:39:12. > :39:28.single shot. Come on, Katie, are you come. Great

:39:29. > :39:48.start. -- up you come. CHEERING Concentrate on your job. APPLAUSE

:39:49. > :40:18.And again. Now, then. I tell you what, that is

:40:19. > :41:04.not a bad opening four bowls. Good line in. A flick would have

:41:05. > :41:14.been OK on that side but she has got a good place, a good cover bowl.

:41:15. > :41:20.This is a good end of bowls. Mandy is in the area, again. In the area.

:41:21. > :41:28.She has got the Jack and that was a really good bowl in the end. Really

:41:29. > :41:32.good shot. Just worked nicely. It came through. I then think her skip

:41:33. > :41:34.will be unhappy about that even though she is not lying shot. It is

:41:35. > :41:41.not necessarily a problem. Don't worry, Mandy. Plenty of time

:41:42. > :42:00.to change. We could do with one of them right

:42:01. > :42:07.now. I wonder if he has bought any more? Inside the line, that is not

:42:08. > :42:14.going to affect the end. It is way inside. The only thing is, she has

:42:15. > :42:18.gone across to the other side of the ring, maybe she can slide across and

:42:19. > :42:53.put the forehand in with a good weight. -- of the rink.

:42:54. > :43:02.It is a way under it, Mandy. She did not like it. It is all that, not

:43:03. > :43:07.going grey far. She did not like it, but I tell you what, I thought she

:43:08. > :43:15.was in a decent position. It held the line. Lindsey needs another

:43:16. > :43:22.bowl. Katie's bowls are looking a bit lonely.

:43:23. > :43:27.This is another chance coming here. She has got to play this. She could

:43:28. > :43:35.play it off the forehand side, underneath the shot bowl, taking the

:43:36. > :43:43.Jersey bowl, clean. If it goes, it will be. The bonus is, hopefully, if

:43:44. > :44:01.you get the Jack solid, hopefully you will go through with it.

:44:02. > :44:09.It looks a bit high, for that. Yes, she is trying to play a nice,

:44:10. > :44:13.controlled weight. I am not sure if that is a shot because that Bell is

:44:14. > :44:19.down the green. If she gets under there with that weight, she will die

:44:20. > :44:28.the way. We have got a great view, right behind it.

:44:29. > :44:35.Time for Lindsey Greechan to see what she wishes to do. Both skips

:44:36. > :44:56.with one bowl to play. It is not going to hold up. But

:44:57. > :45:01.where is it going to finish? At this stage of the game, I think this is

:45:02. > :45:07.worth a gamble. Attack the shot bowl. An element of risk if you get

:45:08. > :45:10.a half on the Jack but they are pretty mixed, there. You would be

:45:11. > :45:12.unlucky to go more than one down. You would be very unlucky to give

:45:13. > :45:30.three bowls away. Two potentially, but all three.

:45:31. > :45:33.She has made a tribal, which at this stage in the game is a good lead,

:45:34. > :45:35.isn't it? It could be a winning shot.

:45:36. > :46:14.-- she has made a credible... Barbara Cameron. It looks under the

:46:15. > :46:20.line. Well, she has moved it across. It is a Northern Ireland bowl.

:46:21. > :46:35.They have got two out of that. It is two.

:46:36. > :46:41.Welcome it wasn't what she intended, I think that is to say. Very, very

:46:42. > :46:53.good results. Well, still two ends to play, the

:46:54. > :47:00.bronze medal at stake between Jersey and Northern Ireland.

:47:01. > :47:10.This could be the margin between winning the bronze medal and missing

:47:11. > :47:15.out on it. That is a good result. Jersey reached the same stage at the

:47:16. > :47:19.women's pairs are few years ago. They missed out on bronze in the

:47:20. > :47:24.final shot in a play-off against New Zealand.

:47:25. > :47:32.Is this going to be more Jersey heartbreak RRA finally going to

:47:33. > :47:36.break the long, long streak of Commonwealth Games without a medal?

:47:37. > :47:43.-- or are they finally. attempt. Great effort. What I reply.

:47:44. > :48:11.What a great reply. Really good game, Paul. It has been

:48:12. > :48:14.a battle. Some Games get more loose as you get

:48:15. > :48:39.towards the conclusion, not this one.

:48:40. > :48:47.The same bowl is good, just dropping onto the other side. She is not, it

:48:48. > :48:50.is a forehand. It is a deceptive delivery. She

:48:51. > :48:56.looked like she was lining up the backhand side, but she has picked a

:48:57. > :49:30.good line, how is the weight but you might -- how is the weight?

:49:31. > :49:38.Gave it a chance, it just fell out behind.

:49:39. > :49:46.Trying again. Just inside it. That is not bad there, though, that is

:49:47. > :49:58.Well, Andy Thompson is pacing around OK.

:49:59. > :50:05.Well, Andy Thompson is pacing around like a caged tiger at the back of

:50:06. > :50:10.the rink. This coaching job is a lot tougher, isn't it?

:50:11. > :50:17.He is scratching his head, pacing around. Tough being a coach.

:50:18. > :50:29.Well, at least he is here grinning. The old Silver Fox, he was that here

:50:30. > :50:31.colour before he arrived. He is a great calming influence for these

:50:32. > :50:35.two Jersey players. Yes, he has done at all and got the

:50:36. > :50:40.T-shirt. Barbara Cameron.

:50:41. > :51:05.Being urged down year, giving this a chance. Almost nipped the bowl.

:51:06. > :51:14.She is playing this swinging side. If it goes in the line there, that

:51:15. > :51:16.is not too bad. It might come across enough. There is still enough room

:51:17. > :51:56.around that bowl. Well, it is a brave shot on here for

:51:57. > :52:00.Lindsey. If she arrives on the back and lists the red away for four. If

:52:01. > :52:06.you are going to play it, this is the bowl to play.

:52:07. > :52:12.Well then. She has identified the shot.

:52:13. > :52:21.Inside the line, though. She does not want to knock that in.

:52:22. > :52:27.That is unlucky. That is so unlucky. If you are missing, you miss on the

:52:28. > :52:32.wide side. She had to pop it out of the green, didn't do so.

:52:33. > :52:41.Well, there have not been too many accidental turnovers in the match.

:52:42. > :52:48.We have all played bowls we want back.

:52:49. > :53:31.The Northern Ireland lion shot. -- lying.

:53:32. > :53:40.Barbara Cameron. She is staying away, I think, with

:53:41. > :53:46.that. She is probably well advised. Well, this is a big bowl now. Huge

:53:47. > :53:51.difference between being too down and level going into the last. --

:53:52. > :53:56.two down. On a plus point, it is only a single

:53:57. > :54:02.they would drop here. On a negative point, they gave it away.

:54:03. > :54:14.Forget the last one. What can you do for Jersey lately?

:54:15. > :54:21.Well, has she got the weight on that line?

:54:22. > :54:26.Will it hold? She is close, very close. She has got it! That is a

:54:27. > :54:35.great bowl. That is an absolutely wonderful bowl by Lindsey Greechan.

:54:36. > :54:40.Wonderful bowl. Well, how quickly in sport emotions

:54:41. > :54:45.can change. Yes, well, you know, give her full

:54:46. > :54:50.credit for this, she gave the second one away and she pleaded perfectly,

:54:51. > :54:57.onto the bowl, onto the Jack, squeezed the Jack through, gets a

:54:58. > :55:00.one and tied up for 14 each. What a play-off this is. One final end to

:55:01. > :55:06.be played. At the very end of this, the bronze

:55:07. > :55:13.medal will be decided. Is it a first medal for Mandy Cunningham and

:55:14. > :55:17.Barbara Cameron? Or is it a first one for Jersey since 1990. No one

:55:18. > :55:27.from Jersey has stepped onto a Commonwealth Games podium since

:55:28. > :55:29.Colin Malet won the shooting bronze with his dad, Cliff, back in

:55:30. > :55:41.Auckland 24 years ago. Good luck to both Jersey and

:55:42. > :55:50.Northern Ireland. They have entertained.

:55:51. > :55:51.Certainly agree with that. They will be disappointed parent of the end of

:55:52. > :56:11.this end, that is for certain. chance to make history.

:56:12. > :56:17.Front-page news, it will lead radio and television in Jersey.

:56:18. > :56:27.Northern Ireland have had a good game is with the boxing, this would

:56:28. > :56:32.be an addition from the lawn bowls centre.

:56:33. > :56:38.A lot to play for here. She has played this really well, she has

:56:39. > :56:39.nailed it. That is a great bowl. That is an absolutely brilliant

:56:40. > :56:56.bowl. Mandy Cunningham. It just looks like

:56:57. > :57:03.she is running through. They are going to chase this now, Aaron

:57:04. > :57:08.there? -- are they not? It was the right thing to do, you did not want

:57:09. > :57:12.to be short there. Centre of the rink for Katie Nixon.

:57:13. > :57:23.Steady, steady. Needs it solid. That is OK, that is not bad at all. She

:57:24. > :57:29.breathes a sigh of relief. That is not bad at all.

:57:30. > :57:38.Well, you can feel the tension in the crowd, as well.

:57:39. > :57:43.They have really appreciated the match.

:57:44. > :57:49.Nice connection. She just got it the right angle. I just wonder whether

:57:50. > :57:56.they are going to gamble and go for the two bowls, clear them. The

:57:57. > :58:01.Jersey girls can see the finishing line now. Their hearts will be

:58:02. > :58:07.beating. Well, they got to just try and take

:58:08. > :58:13.a deep breath. You have been implied your situations, John, where the

:58:14. > :58:18.prize was great and just not to get their leaves a sour taste.

:58:19. > :58:22.Certainly have. It is great when you win close matches, but difficult to

:58:23. > :58:31.recover, you do not sleep the night after when you lose one.

:58:32. > :58:40.Commonwealth Games medal at stake. Now then, Mandy Cunningham. What is

:58:41. > :58:43.she going to play at this? She is playing nice weight at it. I think

:58:44. > :58:51.she is on the high side. It is not going to get back. What do you do

:58:52. > :58:54.now? Do you go deep and try and cover the bowls or make it

:58:55. > :59:02.difficult? I think because you have got

:59:03. > :59:08.threebowls I would try to play something to start. You could play

:59:09. > :59:10.round the back, cover the re-spot should the Jack go off the rink, but

:59:11. > :59:16.I think with your first one... should the Jack go off the rink, but

:59:17. > :59:20.You have to think what your opponent is going to do. I have a feeling

:59:21. > :59:50.Barbara will attack these two bowls.

:59:51. > :00:03.Plenty going on. She's decided to go deeper. She's covered in the spot

:00:04. > :00:14.position. Now then, Barbara, what it you going to play?

:00:15. > :00:23.She's even contemplating a draw shot, I think.

:00:24. > :00:28.It's what you've played on the day, it's what you feel comfortable

:00:29. > :00:31.with, what you think gives you the most chance. She's had three bowls

:00:32. > :00:55.at this so three chances. This player is from Ballymena in

:00:56. > :01:03.Northern Ireland. A role in bold. Controlled weight.

:01:04. > :01:27.-- a rolled in bowl. I think you will go for the drive

:01:28. > :01:31.and clear the two bowls. Now then, Lindsay, you need to close this off

:01:32. > :01:39.if you can now, just inside the line. That's not a great ball they

:01:40. > :01:43.are because she's got to give her shoulder. Didn't want to be down

:01:44. > :01:49.that gap. That's where Barbara is just gone with the control ball. All

:01:50. > :02:02.you're going to do is invite trouble.

:02:03. > :02:17.She's got to go off this on the forehand if she's wide.

:02:18. > :02:25.That's the second ball for Barbara. She has won the remaining. -- she

:03:15. > :03:23.After five Commonwealth Games, Barbara Cameron is on the verge of

:03:24. > :03:30.picking up her first medal Jersey were defeated at this stage three

:03:31. > :03:32.years ago. Can they avoid a heartbreaker against Northern

:03:33. > :03:36.Ireland like I had against New Zealand? In she comes. It's Northern

:03:37. > :03:51.Ireland's medal. A tough way to lose a match but a

:03:52. > :03:59.great way to win one. They did awfully well.

:04:00. > :04:09.It's a sore one to take for Northern Ireland. They win it by the

:04:10. > :04:22.narrowest of margins. And jersey remain medallists were -- remain

:04:23. > :04:25.without a medal. An incredible shot for Barbara Cameron. The chance was

:04:26. > :04:42.there and she took it. She's despondent. Absolutely

:04:43. > :04:50.despondent. It is a tough way to lose. Ibid. Moment for Barbara

:04:51. > :04:53.Cameron, first medal. Andy Cunningham is delighted. Lots of

:04:54. > :04:58.emotion down there for Northern Ireland. A sporting handshake from

:04:59. > :05:07.Andy. You can see how much that means. That will hurt for quite some

:05:08. > :05:11.time. That will really hurt. A wonderful sport, this, when you have

:05:12. > :05:18.success, but it can be a heartbreaker, as well. Barbara

:05:19. > :05:29.Cameron was given a bit of encouragement. What a match. 29

:05:30. > :05:32.shots. A single shot separates. The bronze medal goes to Northern

:05:33. > :05:38.Ireland, the first on the Bowling Green at Glasgow 2014. Mandy

:05:39. > :05:46.Cunningham and Barbara Cameron defeated Nixon and Lindsay from

:05:47. > :05:51.Jersey. Real heartbreak for jersey. No medals for 24 years and that

:05:52. > :05:55.continues. Congratulations to Northern Ireland. Still to come this

:05:56. > :05:58.morning, we'll have netball, hockey, a preview to boxing. Before all

:09:33. > :09:35.SEC. Earlier this morning, Wales took on Northern Ireland to

:09:36. > :09:42.determine the seventh and eighth place. Here is how it turned out.

:09:43. > :09:50.Match number 33 of 38 in this netball competition at the 20th

:09:51. > :09:57.Commonwealth Games here in Glasgow. Joining me in the commentary box for

:09:58. > :10:04.Northern Ireland versus Wales is our resident expert on netball. Anita, a

:10:05. > :10:08.good start for Wales. Yes, good movement through to goal from Wales,

:10:09. > :10:12.certainly starting well, getting the ball through to the circle edge.

:10:13. > :10:16.Something for Northern Ireland to look out for, particularly with the

:10:17. > :10:23.work of Jones as she makes the transition from the mid-court. A

:10:24. > :10:28.good hold thereby Somerville. Northern Ireland wanting to start

:10:29. > :10:31.with Somerville. They have tried before against Jamaica but it didn't

:10:32. > :10:37.work for them. They tried against Wales in the final match which had

:10:38. > :10:48.me one, they might have qualified for the World Cup but it didn't work

:10:49. > :10:52.there either. 88% on that occasion. Oh Hanlon to McCulloch. She's going

:10:53. > :10:57.to try and find her first goal. Northern Ireland lead by two. A good

:10:58. > :11:13.run, good vision by Susie. Trustees to start to work a bit

:11:14. > :11:19.closer on the pressure being put on McCulloch outside the circle. Wales

:11:20. > :11:25.need to see this through. No doubt about it. Beautiful work. That's

:11:26. > :11:33.magnificent. The wing defence from Northern Ireland gives her team the

:11:34. > :11:38.opportunity to get it out to a seven goal lead and it's their centre pass

:11:39. > :11:43.after this Northern Ireland. Wales could be in big trouble here. It's a

:11:44. > :11:55.tough morning at the office for Wales so far. 16-8. This has to drop

:11:56. > :12:05.a brilliant job. No, it's not. She's missed it. Now Mosley, two from

:12:06. > :12:16.seven in the first. She continues to miss the target.

:12:17. > :12:28.We thought this one might be close and it might well turn out to be but

:12:29. > :12:31.right now, it isn't much of a contest. Swung through to Becky

:12:32. > :12:38.James. They still can't find the target here. One goal in the final

:12:39. > :12:44.three minutes of the first quarter, one goal in the first three

:12:45. > :12:48.minutes. This is uncharacteristic for Wales, particularly at the

:12:49. > :12:52.centre pass. They're often very set in their structure and have a great

:12:53. > :12:57.understanding. The last couple of centre passes have been a bit

:12:58. > :13:11.scrappy for Wales. Oh Hanlon into Somerville. She suddenly found her

:13:12. > :13:16.shooting boots again. Yes, Jones needs to support the attack and she

:13:17. > :13:21.does that well. She allows Susie to drop to the circle edge and get a

:13:22. > :13:26.sense that Wales may be forced to take the long shots. Good work from

:13:27. > :13:32.Lennon and that real pressure point in the circle. Lennon clatters into

:13:33. > :13:47.drones. -- Jones. James does well to keep

:13:48. > :13:53.her concentration. The two defenders jumped into her. It's just so much

:13:54. > :14:00.easier for Northern Ireland. Three passes and they're in.

:14:01. > :14:07.The final two minutes of the first half. Northern Ireland 28, Wales 18.

:14:08. > :14:10.Northern Ireland doing most of the damage in the first quarter and they

:14:11. > :14:29.won 16 hyphenate. -- 16 - eight. She's scored 24 of the 29 goals.

:14:30. > :14:31.She's positioned well and has the better of Kelly Morgan today. She's

:14:32. > :14:54.got a stronghold. Wales in danger of scoring one goal

:14:55. > :14:59.in the final three minutes of this quarter, just as they did in the

:15:00. > :15:10.first quarter. Patiently building up the play. Good play from Northern

:15:11. > :15:19.Ireland. Northern Ireland doing a great job. Just the one goal in the

:15:20. > :15:26.final three minutes for Wales. The second half gets under way. No

:15:27. > :15:31.changes the Northern Ireland. Wales have Chelsea Lewis coming back on as

:15:32. > :15:39.we see Somerville open up her recount and extend the Northern

:15:40. > :15:46.Ireland lead to 14. Chelsea Lewis in place of Becky James. Becky James 's

:15:47. > :15:56.goal attack. Moses has moved to the bench. Suzy Drane drops to centre.

:15:57. > :16:03.What do you make of the changes? We thought we would see Bethan Dyke on.

:16:04. > :16:10.You would have thought Wales cannot play as poorly in the second half as

:16:11. > :16:11.they did in the first. It is a good spell for Wales. They are starting

:16:12. > :16:36.to claw back the goal difference. A chance for the centre bars. A

:16:37. > :16:37.chance to get up to seven. -- pass. Anything but a given, the way the

:16:38. > :16:50.game has gone so far. That has gone against Northern

:16:51. > :16:58.Ireland. I thought it was good defending by Caroline O'Hanlon.

:16:59. > :17:08.It is not easy for Wales, is it? That was good play by Becky James.

:17:09. > :17:17.It is tough, the pressure is on. That was crucial for Lewis. It is

:17:18. > :17:24.eight. Now, shooting from distance and the lead back out to ten.

:17:25. > :17:33.I am glad to see the crowd are enjoying it. What a time for the

:17:34. > :17:38.Northern Ireland shooters to be at the moment of the best percentages

:17:39. > :17:47.of the competition. They have got themselves fired up for this

:17:48. > :17:54.encounter. There is a glimmer of hope -- the glimmer of hope Wales

:17:55. > :17:59.had has just been extinguished. That will not count. Northern Ireland,

:18:00. > :18:07.leading by 11 with 15 minutes to play. Here we go. Wales get us under

:18:08. > :18:09.way. Thomas throws away possession as her first contribution to the

:18:10. > :18:27.match. Wales have had patches where they

:18:28. > :18:30.have failed to score goals. A good build-up by Northern Ireland,

:18:31. > :18:37.patiently waiting. Players getting the front position on the defence.

:18:38. > :18:42.Wales caught on the chase. Losing structure at the back. It is usually

:18:43. > :18:54.Nia Jones who communicates so strongly and she is on the bench.

:18:55. > :19:13.Somerville is back on song. It is all about pride, now, for Wales. The

:19:14. > :19:17.first ten minutes effective Northern Ireland, they got the lead, their

:19:18. > :19:26.confidence, and they continued to build on that. That is the final

:19:27. > :19:27.whistle. Northern Ireland have beaten Wales and beaten them

:19:28. > :19:39.comprehensively. They finished seventh, Wales will

:19:40. > :19:42.finish eighth. A huge congratulations to the team from

:19:43. > :19:50.Northern Ireland. Winning three of the four quarters.

:19:51. > :19:59.Not a bad morning with a win in the netball and a bronze medal in the

:20:00. > :20:05.lawn bowls. We are joined by an English woman with a silver medal.

:20:06. > :20:09.You've got the silver medal in the long jump. I watched it. What a

:20:10. > :20:16.joyous occasion and a brilliant effort. Joyous does not describe it.

:20:17. > :20:23.I cannot explain how much fun I had. The crowds were like something I had

:20:24. > :20:28.not seen before. To have everybody screaming for you, it makes the

:20:29. > :20:34.world of difference. This is the last jump and we thought you would

:20:35. > :20:38.get it... I beg your pardon, that was your first. We thought you would

:20:39. > :20:44.get the gold medal. It looked close. Two centimetres, which is nothing.

:20:45. > :20:49.Watching it back, I think, stick your feet back further! I am so

:20:50. > :20:56.happy with the Silver, I cannot complain. Not a tiny bit. I watched

:20:57. > :21:02.it. To see you smiling and to get a sense of how much it meant to you.

:21:03. > :21:10.How are you feeling today? You have done a lot of interviews. I still

:21:11. > :21:17.cannot really believe it. I woke up this morning and saw the medal and

:21:18. > :21:18.thought, oh, my God, it is there! I am still absolutely buzzing and all

:21:19. > :21:24.over the place. But I am waiting am still absolutely buzzing and all

:21:25. > :21:31.it to sink in. Give us a sense of the training and dedication that

:21:32. > :21:37.went into getting that silver medal. It is a busy life. I train six days

:21:38. > :21:42.a week and I am at university studying law. Every morning, a

:21:43. > :21:46.training session, and then back to Bristol from Bath, to catch lectures

:21:47. > :21:51.I'm based in the day. The training is not hard, it is everything else.

:21:52. > :21:56.You train for a couple of hours a day, but you have to make sure you

:21:57. > :22:05.eat right, get to bed on time, not do normal things for a 20-year-old.

:22:06. > :22:10.Greg Rutherford talked about the reception he had at the Commonwealth

:22:11. > :22:14.Games. He loved it and had a wonderful experience and kept

:22:15. > :22:18.talking about how important the Commonwealth Games are to all of the

:22:19. > :22:25.athletes. You will not speak to an athlete who will say, I am not

:22:26. > :22:30.really bothered. Greg Rutherford's was inspiring. You could see how

:22:31. > :22:36.much it meant to him. It is the same for me. It is a huge deal. I do not

:22:37. > :22:42.know why people say it is not. It matters. This is a crucial step in

:22:43. > :22:47.what I hope will be a long career. We are saying it is the biggest deal

:22:48. > :22:51.for most athletes, extraordinary. Last night, you were taking part in

:22:52. > :22:56.the long jump. How will where are you of other things going on? There

:22:57. > :23:04.were a lot of finals and medals to be given out last night. How hard is

:23:05. > :23:10.it to focus? It is finding a balance between focusing on your event and

:23:11. > :23:19.not getting psyched out by your event. I wanted to enjoy the races

:23:20. > :23:24.around me. I saw my friends running in the 200 semifinals and cheered

:23:25. > :23:27.them on stock that is how I enjoyed myself stop and my coach always

:23:28. > :23:36.says, enjoy yourself. That is where I jump my best. I want to be aware

:23:37. > :23:42.of the crowd especially. The noise is extraordinary. Hampton is a

:23:43. > :23:48.football stadium normally. It was run -- Hampden Park. It was really

:23:49. > :23:52.done especially. The crowds do not realise how important they are, to

:23:53. > 3:36:30see the flags flying and everybody screaming, it pushed me down the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30runway. The moment I stood up to take off my tracksuit, the crowd

3:36:31 > 3:36:30went mad and to have that support, nothing can rival it. A lot of the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30crowd wanted to see a lead child win her medal and dragged her over the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30line, if need be, but support for all the home nations and territories

3:36:31 > 3:36:30that makes a difference? The crowd, if there is someone to cheer for,

3:36:31 > 3:36:30they will do it. It is not just the home nations, they think, right, no

3:36:31 > 3:36:30home nation athlete, who can we cheer for? The athletes appreciated

3:36:31 > 3:36:30100 fold. , wealth silver, what is next? My goal for the year was to

3:36:31 > 3:36:30get to the Commonwealth Games. To come away with this medal, I am

3:36:31 > 3:36:30done, I am chuffed to bits! It is fantastic. It is nice and heavy. It

3:36:31 > 3:36:30gives a sense of the importance and how big a deal it is to win it. The

3:36:31 > 3:36:30medals are what we are here for. We train day in and day out, so we can

3:36:31 > 3:36:30win medals. This in my hand right now is a representation of work I

3:36:31 > 3:36:30put in and my coach and the team around me. It is not just me. There

3:36:31 > 3:36:30is hours and hours of work that have gone in from other people and it

3:36:31 > 3:36:30materialises right here. It was joyous to see you being so happy.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Congratulations. Let's get a gold medal next time. Let's go for it!

3:36:31 > 3:36:30We do not want you to leave us, but there is life boxing on BBC One

3:36:31 > 3:36:30around lunch time, we reckon 1pm. The women's flyweight semifinals.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Yesterday was a day off for team England, but Dan Walker found out

3:36:31 > 3:36:30they were not sitting about doing nothing.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30As you know, the boxing ring has provided successful the home nations

3:36:31 > 3:36:30with bronze medals already guaranteed. This is England, Sam

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Maxwell, Anthony Fowler, Nicola Adams, Scott Fitzgerald, Joe Joyce,

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Savannah Marshall and Qais Ashfaq. Sam, you face a Scots now, and an

3:36:31 > 3:36:30acquaintance in Josh Taylor. I am looking forward to it. I knew I was

3:36:31 > 3:36:30bound to find him -- fighting along the way. You are the highest ranked

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Commonwealth boxer at the com of games and people are asking about

3:36:31 > 3:36:30turning professional. Is it hard to concentrate on winning the right

3:36:31 > 3:36:30middle? Not really. I am confident of bringing the medal back to

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Liverpool. I am a fashion icon! You where the glasses well! You get on

3:36:31 > 3:36:30well. Boxing is an individual sport, but what is the team ethic like? It

3:36:31 > 3:36:30is fantastic. We have a laugh and take the Mick out of Qais Ashfaq.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Doing his hair, seeing how long it takes to get it done. We have a good

3:36:31 > 3:36:30team spirit and that wins medals. Look at this left I, we saw the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30famous blue ice bag on that gave few days ago. How EU prepared the latex

3:36:31 > 3:36:30was and how is it? I did it on Monday and yesterday was fine. --

3:36:31 > 3:36:30how are you preparing for the next one? You are guaranteed that bronze

3:36:31 > 3:36:30medal but I imagine you will want the silver all the gold, you are

3:36:31 > 3:36:30guaranteed the bronze medal. We have come for the gold medal and that is

3:36:31 > 3:36:30what we are aiming for. Time to meet the big boy. Mr Joyce. Can we see

3:36:31 > 3:36:30you fully? I am tall but I would not fancy my chances against you. You

3:36:31 > 3:36:30have also got a degree in fine art and people must ask you how you

3:36:31 > 3:36:30square up the fact you are a super heavyweight but like painting.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Working on the canvas, painting, I am back on the canvas again, but

3:36:31 > 3:36:30also fighting on the canvas. Usain Bolt came past a few minutes ago.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30The only one who stayed in here was Savannah Marshall, is that your

3:36:31 > 3:36:30mentality, you are not here for the superstars but to win a medal? I

3:36:31 > 3:36:30would rather have a medal any day. Qais Ashfaq, you are getting grief

3:36:31 > 3:36:30about your hair. You have to look good. You have to take care of

3:36:31 > 3:36:30yourself! Do you give more care to your opponent or your hair before a

3:36:31 > 3:36:30match? There has been a lot of talk about you and Amir Khan, who you

3:36:31 > 3:36:30said inspired you. I have looked up to him since I was a kid. He is a

3:36:31 > 3:36:30friend of mine. To inspire people like he inspired me would be

3:36:31 > 3:36:30amazing. Bring back as many medals as you can. Team England, serious

3:36:31 > 3:36:30medal opportunities over the next few days. That boxing is coming up

3:36:31 > 3:36:30on BBC One. Just so we're just didn't interview with us. She had

3:36:31 > 3:36:30lots of people. -- jazz saw year. Thousands of people have been asking

3:36:31 > 3:36:30for her autograph and getting photographs taken. Just as we came

3:36:31 > 3:36:30on live, they all disappear. But she is clearly very happy with her

3:36:31 > 3:36:30silver medal. Let's turn our attention to live squash now and the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30first of the men's doubles quarterfinals. This is Daryl Selby

3:36:31 > 3:36:30and James Willstrop against Lance Beddoes and Paul Coll of New

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Zealand. Let's head over to Scotstoun. Susan Rose is there for

3:36:31 > 3:36:30us. We've got some news coming up before we go to this match.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30The New Zealand Paire expected to be here in the quarterfinals but it is

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Lance Beddoes Paul Coll who take that position.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30There we have Dave Clark on the right. And on the left, Paul Halls

3:36:31 > 3:36:30B. They are the New Zealand coaching team, both formerly coaches in

3:36:31 > 3:36:30England, but made their way across to New Zealand to work with the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30players out there and doing a great job with all of them. So there we

3:36:31 > 3:36:30can see Lance Beddoes on your screen, who didn't play in the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30can see Lance Beddoes on your the doubles event with his partner

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Paul Coll. Paul Coll also playing in the mixed doubles with Amanda

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Landers-Murphy and, in fact, he will be playing straight after this in

3:36:31 > 3:36:30the mixed quarterfinals. James Willstrop was just being asked

3:36:31 > 3:36:30to put his eye protection where on. He had rested on his forehead but he

3:36:31 > 3:36:30has to have it on. We can see a very comprehensive run-through for the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30England pair. 2-0 victories all the way through from the last 16.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30The English pair are the number three seeds.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Daryl Selby is based in Chelmsford and coached by his father Paul. Just

3:36:31 > 3:36:30playing the doubles events here. He's playing in the mixed doubles

3:36:31 > 3:36:30with Sarah Kippax later on today. They're in the quarterfinals. He

3:36:31 > 3:36:30will be looking to get his first medal here. There is the English

3:36:31 > 3:36:30coaching camp with Dominic Campion in the middle.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30James Willstrop is the silver medallist in the singles event and,

3:36:31 > 3:36:30indeed, in 2010 in Delhi. So I'm sure he's going to be looking to try

3:36:31 > 3:36:30and gain the gold medal if he can from this men's doubles event. A

3:36:31 > 3:36:30world ranking of number six in the singles at the moment. He is a

3:36:31 > 3:36:30former world number one and, in fact, that is it young Noah, Daryl

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Selby's son sat there with Daryl Selby's mum.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Daryl Selby is also a British National Party and. He won that in

3:36:31 > 3:36:302011. -- a British national champion.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Team England are doing very well at the moment. England have four - won

3:36:31 > 3:36:30silver, two bronze. New Zealand have won bronze and Malaysia have won

3:36:31 > 3:36:30gold. For those of you watching doubles

3:36:31 > 3:36:30for the first time, you'll notice the court is considerably wider, 27

3:36:31 > 3:36:30feet wide. As opposed to 21 feet for singles. The tin at the front of the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30court is at 13 inches, as opposed to 17 inches for men's singles and 19

3:36:31 > 3:36:30inches for women's singles. And for doubles, there is no video review so

3:36:31 > 3:36:30it is purely down to the central referee today. He will be making all

3:36:31 > 3:36:30the decisions. us, then. The New Zealand pair

3:36:31 > 3:36:30looking to replicate their upset from the last 16 today.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30So New Zealand get the match under way.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Good use of the front area of the court. James Willstrop stuck behind.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30As you can see, the 13 inch tin makes a huge difference in the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30doubles game. They are able to use the front area of the court much

3:36:31 > 3:36:30more and it does pull the opponent forward. Very difficult to get onto

3:36:31 > 3:36:30the ball. And again. As you can see, that

3:36:31 > 3:36:30front area of the court is very, very important in doubles. It's all

3:36:31 > 3:36:30about the pair that can get in front, attack. A bit of confusion

3:36:31 > 3:36:30there. That's the great thing about the court being 27 feet wide - the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30middle area of the court comes into play as an attacking position.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Bedding is really playing it down the side, tit.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30A little lucky. Daryl Selby with a bit of a misfit. It spun off his

3:36:31 > 3:36:30racket and just made it to the front wall.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Just the edge of the racket but made it to the front wall. So, 4-3.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Good use of the court. The ball being played into the middle by the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30New Zealand pair that pulls the English players in and leave the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30wings available to get into. A very good tactic.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30not really have good site of the ball. The great teamwork.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30A good example, the side, if you get it tight, it is just very difficult

3:36:31 > 3:36:30to get it off the wall. Again, good pressure from the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30England pair. Again, Paul Coll, he was unsighted

3:36:31 > 3:36:30slightly. Should probably have asked for a let. But it gives the England

3:36:31 > 3:36:30pair the lead. The white ball, somewhat cooler than

3:36:31 > 3:36:30paying with the traditional black ball as you would at home in your

3:36:31 > 3:36:30clubs. It has a tendency to die in the back corners. So, if you can get

3:36:31 > 3:36:30it there, it works well. I think Paul Coll and Beddoes were

3:36:31 > 3:36:30hoping that would be a winner. Let ball given.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Just whether back wall and floor meet. -- where's the back wall and

3:36:31 > 3:36:30floor meet. That could have been interesting.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Fortunately, Paul Coll just jumping out of the way enough. That could

3:36:31 > 3:36:30have been quite nasty. All in one piece. It is Paul Coll to serve at

3:36:31 > 3:36:306-8. A bit more patience required from

3:36:31 > 3:36:30the New Zealand pair. Do not need to attack quite so soon. They certainly

3:36:31 > 3:36:30cannot afford to give away points. That was good teamwork. Doubles is

3:36:31 > 3:36:30all about communication, teamwork. match so far. It ends in a let. You

3:36:31 > 3:36:30do feel that the English pair are just that little more patient. The

3:36:31 > 3:36:30New Zealand pair looking for a quick point. Game point to the England

3:36:31 > 3:36:30pair. Wow! That was a great hold on the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30forehand side. You can see the English pair thinking it was going

3:36:31 > 3:36:30to the forehand side. Both heading in the wrong direction.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30And a good start from the English pair to take the first game. And

3:36:31 > 3:36:30they lead 1-0. Player: When he comes out the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30lights, it is hard to pick out. Coach: Watch the high line. The high

3:36:31 > 3:36:30line. The highlift across. It can be soft.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30David Campion saying particularly to James Willstrop to try to lift the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30ball across the court more. Not to leave it in the middle, because it

3:36:31 > 3:36:30is an opportunity for Lance Beddoes to play the backhand drop shot,

3:36:31 > 3:36:30which puts them under pressure. That is the drop shot we are talking

3:36:31 > 3:36:30about. Soft across the top of the players, over the top, and then

3:36:31 > 3:36:30looking for the attacking opportunity. The English pair did

3:36:31 > 3:36:30not have it all their own way. That could have been a nasty injury.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Surprising that Daryl Selby hit that ball. But they do know, generally,

3:36:31 > 3:36:30where it is going and when to hit it. Right now, the English pair are

3:36:31 > 3:36:30in charge, using the front of the court well. Just being more patience

3:36:31 > 3:36:30than the New Zealand pair. I think, possibly, using their experience.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Not to short, too soon, not to go cheap, not to give away easy points.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30The New Zealand pair need to do something similar. To settle down

3:36:31 > 3:36:30and find their feet and then look for the attacking shot.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Prince Edward is in the crowds today.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30England 1-0 in this quarterfinal match of the men's doubles event.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30That wasn't good use of the middle part of the court. -- that was a

3:36:31 > 3:36:30good use of the middle part of the court. Daryl Selby not able to

3:36:31 > 3:36:30cover. That was a good decision not to hit

3:36:31 > 3:36:30the ball. Particularly after the last one.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30A little bit of chaos created by the Kiwi pair.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30middle of the court. Daryl Selby lost his shoe in the process. Let

3:36:31 > 3:36:30ball. So Beddoes querying a pick-up. Which

3:36:31 > 3:36:30was called good. And then asking for a letter. -- and let.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Well, it's good to see the whole court being used. We really are

3:36:31 > 3:36:30starting to see a really good construction of rallies now on the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30doubles court. And a great folly. Great reactions.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30-- volley. APPLAUSE

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Frantic squash their on the doubles court. It is coverage from both the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30pairs. Lance Beddoes coming across to help out Paul Cole, and then a

3:36:31 > 3:36:30let required. So 3-1 to the New Zealand pair.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30So pick up on the corner. Oh, possibly just got that.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30So James Willstrop, forehand side, having to work really

3:36:31 > 3:36:30hard against Paul Cole. Having to put everything into every shot.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Well, the great costs caught Nick there, Daryl Selby thinking it

3:36:31 > 3:36:30should be a let, the referee disagreeing. -- a great crosscourt

3:36:31 > 3:36:30nick. Oh! Incredible skill from both the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30England pair and the Kiwi pair. Reactions galore. During that rally.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Paul Cole just getting hit by the ball on the final shot.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30And an usual area there, Daryl Selby. He will not be happy big

3:36:31 > 3:36:30that, I'm sure. -- happy with that. Couple of cheap points, then, from

3:36:31 > 3:36:30the England pair. Need to steady themselves. Oh! Well, good from the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30English pair, Selby really stepping onto that shot. Pushing it

3:36:31 > 3:36:30crosscourt. Then again, Paul Cole not able to jump out of the way.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Well, again, Daryl Selby not happy at all. Saying that this is going to

3:36:31 > 3:36:30get ugly. But it's the New Zealand pair that are in the lead.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30few of those crosscourt mix, now. -- nicks. It is starting to have an

3:36:31 > 3:36:30impact. Now, with a shot like that, it goes to 9-4.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Attacking plane then, from Beddoes and Cole. -- play. Really taking the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30game to the England pair. And the New Zealand is still leading

3:36:31 > 3:36:309-5 in this second game. Kiwis. Covering the court incredibly

3:36:31 > 3:36:30well. Teamwork, well, they are making a good job of that as well.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Doesn't always pay dividends in points. But on the whole, it's

3:36:31 > 3:36:30working well. Daryl Selby be was saying -- Daryl

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Selby was saying he wanted to play the ball and was not able to. As we

3:36:31 > 3:36:30know, doubles are a rarity. Daryl Selby serving.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30APPLAUSE. Maybe Paul Coll has been practising that crosscourt nick. It

3:36:31 > 3:36:30is coming out at every opportunity. That particular one gives the pair

3:36:31 > 3:36:30game point. Again, the frustration on Daryl

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Selby's face was clear to see. He felt again it was a let ball, but it

3:36:31 > 3:36:30was not to be. The New Zealand pair take the second game. 11-6. One game

3:36:31 > 3:36:30all. We have a game on our hands. Doubles is the best-of-3 games. This

3:36:31 > 3:36:30is the deciding game coming up. MUSIC DROWNS OUT SPEECH.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30I cannot quite hear what they are saying to the New Zealand pair, but,

3:36:31 > 3:36:30I am sure they will be a calming influence, keeping the pair on

3:36:31 > 3:36:30track, trying to stop them getting too excited. They have already had a

3:36:31 > 3:36:30good result here, beating the number five seeds. At the moment, they are

3:36:31 > 3:36:30looking like the possibility of taking another scalp. They took the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30game to the England pair with much more attacking squash. Getting the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30ball wide, using the central part of the court and looking for the short

3:36:31 > 3:36:30ball. In several cases, Paul Coll going for the crosscourt nick.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Taking the point. The English pair really do need to settle themselves.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Daryl Selby was a little bit frustrated with the decisions that

3:36:31 > 3:36:30were made. It is easy to get drawn into conversation with the referee.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30It can be unsettling when you do that, so he needs to refocus. He

3:36:31 > 3:36:30needs to calm down. Just waiting for James Willstrop to

3:36:31 > 3:36:30return to the court. Possibly a little bit of excitement

3:36:31 > 3:36:30from Paul Coll. He just snatched at the ball a little bit.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30That was good pressure. Absolutely whipping the forehand through. So

3:36:31 > 3:36:30much pace on the ball. The shoe is on the other foot her

3:36:31 > 3:36:30that. Daryl Selby having had several no lets on that side and it is now

3:36:31 > 3:36:30the turn of Beddoes. The point is to be replayed. It did

3:36:31 > 3:36:30not look that good, the pick-up, but not seen by the referees, clearly,

3:36:31 > 3:36:30so a let ball played. Beddoes and Paul Coll are still

3:36:31 > 3:36:30trying to be attacking. James Willstrop was on to bat at the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30front. -- onto that. The English pair are looking for the attacking

3:36:31 > 3:36:30play from the New Zealand pair. Well, the ball of Paul Coll was

3:36:31 > 3:36:30called down. It looked like it could well have been up. A run of points

3:36:31 > 3:36:30for the English pair. In fact, the ball just caught the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30tea -- the T-shirt of James Willstrop. Very honest to say.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Frustration starting to play a major part in this game. Daryl Selby,

3:36:31 > 3:36:30particularly. He is not happy. athleticism. Paul Coll, well, throws

3:36:31 > 3:36:30himself at the ball. Early on in that point. There you can see. Kept

3:36:31 > 3:36:30the ball in play. Well, they are awarding points for guts and

3:36:31 > 3:36:30determination... Coll deserved that. The Kiwi team asking for a let there

3:36:31 > 3:36:30and Beddoes was on his way. This game has got everything.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30That's a cheap point at this stage in the game. Can't afford those.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Selby and Willstrop, then, just three points away from clinching

3:36:31 > 3:36:30this match. Into the body, then,

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Willstrop. Great drop shot there from Beddoes. Daryl Selby just

3:36:31 > 3:36:30slipping but Willstrop not able to So the court attendant 's doing a

3:36:31 > 3:36:30fine job. As they have been doing for the last week or so.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Just have a look at his movement. Just have a look at his movement,

3:36:31 > 3:36:30though. Particularly when you are in the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30final game and there's all to play for.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Oh, asking again on the pick-up. Beddoes not happy at all. Well, that

3:36:31 > 3:36:30did not look good to me, I have to say.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Third time lucky, then, on that particular point.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30UMPIRE: Please, Mr Selby. Well, Daryl Selby

3:36:31 > 3:36:30continually going on about Lance Beddoes' movement, but as I say,

3:36:31 > 3:36:30doubles does create interference. Paul Coll, then, trying to go

3:36:31 > 3:36:30crosscourt. Let ball. Good crosscourt! Nice touch. So a

3:36:31 > 3:36:30purple patch, here, then, for the New Zealand pair. Just one point

3:36:31 > 3:36:30away, now, from drawing level. That's the kind of interference you

3:36:31 > 3:36:30do get in doubles, sometimes on top of each other.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Not the kind of shot you really want

3:36:31 > 3:36:30to be playing at this stage in the game, certainly not that low,

3:36:31 > 3:36:30anyway. APPLAUSE

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Well... And incredible get-there from Paul Coll. I'm not sure about

3:36:31 > 3:36:30being a squash player. Maybe he should be in the diving team.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30A clenched fist there from Selby, and Willstrop.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30The question is, who can hold their nerve the best?

3:36:31 > 3:36:30CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Well, the New Zealand team, just a

3:36:31 > 3:36:30little bit erratic here over the last couple of points. They have put

3:36:31 > 3:36:30the ball in the middle of the court. It's opened the opportunity

3:36:31 > 3:36:30up on that occasion the Daryl Selby. -- the Daryl Selby. That is the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30England pair match point. Now, they need to do it again. That

3:36:31 > 3:36:30is if they want to draw level. Match to the English pair.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30You can almost feel everyone who is watching

3:36:31 > 3:36:30A standing ovation. It was a wonderful display of doubles squash.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Not only the Wade to play the game, but sheer guts and determination --

3:36:31 > 3:36:30the way to play. Got the English pair through. It is the English pair

3:36:31 > 3:36:30that take the victory. What do you say about a match like that? It was

3:36:31 > 3:36:30so close. The New Zealand pair were within touching distance of beating

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Daryl Selby and James Willstrop. Two points away from claiming victory

3:36:31 > 3:36:30themselves. They gave absolutely everything.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30A great atmosphere there and behind me in the tent. Texas were playing

3:36:31 > 3:36:30live and the lead singer joins us now. How are you? Very happy that

3:36:31 > 3:36:30went well. It was a great audience. It sounded amazing, sitting here.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30The Commonwealth Games, how much of you enjoyed it? I have been really

3:36:31 > 3:36:30enjoying it. I said onstage that Scotland, it takes a 13-year-old to

3:36:31 > 3:36:30get everybody into shape! I was watching the bowls this morning. I

3:36:31 > 3:36:30reckon I would be really good at it. You might see me in the team next. I

3:36:31 > 3:36:30am feeling that. I am feeling the uniform and everything! I want to be

3:36:31 > 3:36:30in the blazer. We need to get the old school look back. It is about

3:36:31 > 3:36:30the home nations, as well, and the general feeling around. The way

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Glasgow performing as a city and welcoming the world. You know when

3:36:31 > 3:36:30you travel around and playing and meet people, Scots are like

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Gypsies, we love to travel and find out things and meet people and take

3:36:31 > 3:36:30different cultures and food. But to welcome different countries to our

3:36:31 > 3:36:30country is something quite special. Everybody who comes to Scotland says

3:36:31 > 3:36:30they have an amazing time. There is a lot of that going on at the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30moment. Texas, what are the plans for the future? We have just got

3:36:31 > 3:36:30back from New York. It is 25 years this year. There will be a single

3:36:31 > 3:36:30out and that will be before Christmas and then they album will

3:36:31 > 3:36:30hit and we will tour next year. It is great you joined us after coming

3:36:31 > 3:36:30out from the show. Incredible. Earlier, the Scotland-- Scotland

3:36:31 > 3:36:30women's hockey team took on India. Nicky Jarvis, in the coaching

3:36:31 > 3:36:30corner, will be pleased with what he saw.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Looking to bounce the ball back. That was great positioning by the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30umpire. The second corner Scotland have forced. Robertson to inject.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30One from 24 the tournament so far, Scotland. It clipped the front

3:36:31 > 3:36:30runner and it will be another corner.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Nimita Toppo, she collected the ball. You see in the men's game they

3:36:31 > 3:36:30put kneepads on and it makes sense, the speed the ball travels, that you

3:36:31 > 3:36:30put on as much protective gear as you can.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Ralph corrected the ball and that was not where they wanted it to

3:36:31 > 3:36:30finish up. Opting for the hit on this corner. The body position was

3:36:31 > 3:36:30slightly wrong. Yellow. The Indian number 16, I

3:36:31 > 3:36:30think. India are dangerous in this position. They have not had many

3:36:31 > 3:36:30opportunities. That is where you want your strikers

3:36:31 > 3:36:30to send the ball. An excellent position for Scotland. A penalty

3:36:31 > 3:36:30corner. It was an open goal. Pretty much sums it up for Scotland. It was

3:36:31 > 3:36:30great play. Emily Maguire dragging the ball back slightly and tried to

3:36:31 > 3:36:30play it to Linda Clement. Could not get the pushy needed. -- the push

3:36:31 > 3:36:30that she needed. Kidd. Again, Savita, she saves

3:36:31 > 3:36:30India. It is the first goal. Anupa Barla.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30They have hurt Scotland where it hurts the most. There was a

3:36:31 > 3:36:30deflection. It felt really nicely for Anupa Barla. Scotland seeking

3:36:31 > 3:36:30the equaliser. REFEREE: It is a no stick tackle.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30They say I called it. Can you check and see if there was a stick tackle.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Thank you. Not a bad time to make a referral.

3:36:31 > 3:36:301-0 up. It was good play by Clement. Closing the ball to Alison Bell.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Penalty corner, a stick tackle. That was the referral. The referral has

3:36:31 > 3:36:30been rejected. What can Scotland do with their eighth penalty corner?

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Kidd. It is in. Perfect for Scotland. 1-1. At last, the crowd

3:36:31 > 3:36:30are up on their feet. It is relief for the home side. 15 minutes left

3:36:31 > 3:36:30to go. It was a goal she deserved. Kidd, she opens up her body to put

3:36:31 > 3:36:30the ball on the foot side. The goalkeeper, Savita, took a step

3:36:31 > 3:36:30stick side. This will be card time. The Scottish

3:36:31 > 3:36:30number six. Stick tackle and two minutes in the sin bin. Scotland

3:36:31 > 3:36:30with ten players. A quick shot and what a bullet. It is 2-1.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Poonam Rani, she puts them ahead. It was great play, to off-load it as a

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Scottish defender closes down. She has time to take two touches.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Getting the ball out of the trouble zone. But it is all over the these

3:36:31 > 3:36:30teams. It is India, in this fifth and sixth place classification

3:36:31 > 3:36:30match, given their all, Scotland, but India take the fifth-place.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Scotland's campaign in the women's hockey finishes in defeat and

3:36:31 > 3:36:30congratulations to India, who finished fifth. Coming up, live

3:36:31 > 3:36:30bowls. England against Scotland. Before that, a news update.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Welcome back to our coverage of Glasgow 2014 here on BBC Three. We

3:36:31 > 3:36:30will go over to tell and live bowls.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Earlier this morning we saw Northern Ireland picking up a bronze medal

3:36:31 > 3:36:30against Jersey in the women's pairs but last two, including Scotland

3:36:31 > 3:36:30versus England in the gold-medal match. Rishi Persad is there for us

3:36:31 > 3:36:30and it looks pretty sunny there. Yes, it was a bit rainy this morning

3:36:31 > 3:36:30in it not very pleasant conditions, but at the moment it is dry and the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30sun has peaked out a couple of times and were on to the men's final of

3:36:31 > 3:36:30the forums. It is the gold-medal match between Scotland and England.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30This promises to be a cracker, it is the gold-medal match between

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Scotland and England. This promises to be a cracker committed do won the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30men's pairs earlier this week. He was part of that team which saw

3:36:31 > 3:36:30England begin in that dramatic final where Alex Marshall produced a

3:36:31 > 3:36:30couple amazing bowls out the very end of that semifinal. England

3:36:31 > 3:36:30probably wants to gain some sort of advantage or revenge here against

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Scotland. Paul Foster, Alex Marshall, David Peacock and Neil

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Spiers against Jamie Chesney Andrew Knapper, Stuart Airey and Paul Brown

3:36:31 > 3:36:30for England. The commentators are John Brown -- John Price and Paul

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Mitchell. COMMENTATOR: You can see the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30versatility of Neal, he plays all of the balls, the skip.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30What a bowl that is. Very unlucky it did not fall in then. It could

3:36:31 > 3:36:30easily have done. He has got a result.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Well, sometimes you have to play with what is in front of you.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Is he still down? Yes, I think he is. Two down.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30A bit of confusion on that blue bowl. You can just about see the red

3:36:31 > 3:36:30disc, not ideal. If we get a chance we will touch on

3:36:31 > 3:36:30the colour of bowls later on in the game.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Off the forehand it comes just looking to draw another shot.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Well, Paul Foster, I think, will have a little go at this.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30It is running bowl, not full drive. Very close to get that off that.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30There was always the chance to come in and play off one into the other.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30He knocked the Scottish bowl at the back, saw England currently live

3:36:31 > 3:36:30three. The two of them are a long way away

3:36:31 > 3:36:30now, so it is effectively no worse. Live is looking at this, they would

3:36:31 > 3:36:30think, what they have to worry about is the back position because if they

3:36:31 > 3:36:30invite the target, and either Paul or Alex go for it and take the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30jackfruit, they could be in trouble. Don't want to leave a catch. -- take

3:36:31 > 3:36:30the Jack through it. Don't want to leave a catch. -- take

3:36:31 > 3:36:30It is not always about piling the bowls around the Jack. Sometimes you

3:36:31 > 3:36:30have to be a little bit tactical. He is playing the forehand to get round

3:36:31 > 3:36:30the short bowls. He has left a gap, that is the main

3:36:31 > 3:36:30thing. That is what they were worried

3:36:31 > 3:36:30about, if you build that target up and get too close to the blue bowl.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30That is very good, good play. If that was close it was an easy

3:36:31 > 3:36:30shot for Paul Foster, no day Scotland have to give it some

3:36:31 > 3:36:30thought. The fact he is probably three, maybe four down now, he may

3:36:31 > 3:36:30be forced to draw this. Still running for it. He is well in

3:36:31 > 3:36:30the line. That is another red. Paul Foster dropping short may have

3:36:31 > 3:36:30cut one of. If it is still there, it is quite loose. In fact committee

3:36:31 > 3:36:30has knocked two Ofcom years lying third shot, Paul Foster. -- he has

3:36:31 > 3:36:30knocked to off, he is lying. Well, a bit of movement.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30A little distraction. Steadied himself playing the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30backhand, which is the open hand. That is pretty good, as well.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Alex is looking at the forehand, which means he will probably be

3:36:31 > 3:36:30using some weight. There is an open draw available to him, try and

3:36:31 > 3:36:30follow the Jamie Chesney line. Still three. Good line on that. Four

3:36:31 > 3:36:30feet heavy. It had to reach, though, it is quite pushy on the outside

3:36:31 > 3:36:30line, so you cannot fault him for that. This is Jamie saying, I don't

3:36:31 > 3:36:30want to draw one to close here and invite the strike. I would like to

3:36:31 > 3:36:30make another. You don't want to leave anything that is a hanging

3:36:31 > 3:36:30target, either, to play and off. England going into conference,

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Scotland will do the same. There are a few blue bowls at the back there.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30They may play safe year and cover those bowls.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30He has a chance here, you will come back to the back bowls.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Unfortunately he has gone off now. He is three down now, Alex, it is a

3:36:31 > 3:36:30gamble to go for the open Jack. If you miss, obviously, it looks bad.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30I think at this stage of the game, John, I would be happy to draw for

3:36:31 > 3:36:30second. He is definitely looking at this forehand. You can see where

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Paul Foster is, he just wants to play it down that line. You can lift

3:36:31 > 3:36:30out the short bowl if you are a lot of bit tight but you still get

3:36:31 > 3:36:30through. There is a second shot to be lifted, as well. If he plays it,

3:36:31 > 3:36:30he will play it firm. He is looking underneath. Running

3:36:31 > 3:36:30bowl. He has got it! That is a shot, isn't it? That is a shot. We fancied

3:36:31 > 3:36:30he might play it. Unbelievable stuff again from Alex Marshall. That is

3:36:31 > 3:36:30why he is number one in my book. England lying three. Scotland will

3:36:31 > 3:36:30pick up a three year, possibly a four. What a turnover. There we

3:36:31 > 3:36:30are, he has stolen my line! Someone was listening to you, the Lionel

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Messi of bowls. Very true. That is one of the key points of the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30match already. Second shot, you are only too one down, but when you had

3:36:31 > 3:36:30his capabilities... And you see from Jenny's point of view there, played

3:36:31 > 3:36:30the right shot but didn't execute it. Publicly if it had stayed on

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Alex wouldn't have played it. Small margins. Three shots to Scotland,

3:36:31 > 3:36:30England were lying three. Stay tuned, there are many, many

3:36:31 > 3:36:30more big bowls to come from both of these steps. -- skips.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30What a setting for a game of bowls. A few good luck charms around, as

3:36:31 > 3:36:30well. Teddy on the shoulder, Clyde in the pocket.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Good start from Andrew Knapper, he just has the edge on David Peacock

3:36:31 > 3:36:30at the moment. Andrew Knapper was quoted as saying

3:36:31 > 3:36:30it will be one hell of a game. Hard to disagree with that.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Just wanted to pass that bowl. Neil Spiers, backhand.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30The man from Ratho, near Edinburgh, Neil Spiers. Played second in the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30triples, now in the fours. Just dropping well short that time.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30really is a good player, Neil Speirs.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30McGuinness will reach this now. But that is a poor bowl. Many people

3:36:31 > 3:36:30watching will tell you you do not see John McGuinness do that very

3:36:31 > 3:36:30often. They have got to be careful because if the lose the battle in

3:36:31 > 3:36:30the second and third positions in the middle of the rink then Alex

3:36:31 > 3:36:30will have a field day. Not much he could do in the last end with three

3:36:31 > 3:36:30against. But to keep it tight, England. Paul Foster. Just wanted it

3:36:31 > 3:36:30to come into touch. Now then, more than capable of doing this shot,

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Stuart. He is a good player. One of the reasons he is here, he has that

3:36:31 > 3:36:30ability to change things as a nerd. -- third. That is a better weight

3:36:31 > 3:36:30for the shot. On the high side, wanted to kick off. Scotland

3:36:31 > 3:36:30It is in there. Now it start bending. APPLAUSE

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Another good bowl. Starting to apply a bit of pressure. Three against.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Good bowl. Very well played. Straight down the rink to

3:36:31 > 3:36:30congratulate Stuart Airey. Great bowl by Stuart Airey. It was very

3:36:31 > 3:36:30important because he might not have got another chance. Great bowl.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Super result as well. Get in there, he said. Have a bit of that. Not

3:36:31 > 3:36:30quite Marshall-esque but the good celebration all the same. Trying

3:36:31 > 3:36:30again. Got to reach. England lying two. There is a suggestion. CHEERING

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Quite popular around here as well. He would not have time to play them.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30I am sure you could combine it. A few English Welsh and Irish would be

3:36:31 > 3:36:30voting for him if that was the case. They have -- he has done them some

3:36:31 > 3:36:30damage over the years. Has to be that time -- and hot to be that

3:36:31 > 3:36:30time, Jamie. Had back problems about 18 months ago, Alex Marshall. Had to

3:36:31 > 3:36:30see a couple of doctors. Lost some weight, new fitness regime. Has been

3:36:31 > 3:36:30in good form. Alex Marshall has it? He just got inside it. He nearly

3:36:31 > 3:36:30took it with him. He was unlucky. Touch off the front bowl would have

3:36:31 > 3:36:30been good. One and a measure indicated.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30He has come back up to have a look, Stuart Airey. Trying to see if there

3:36:31 > 3:36:30is a shot. He is probably going to draw on the backhand, get round the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30short bowls. Could be holding the two. Free draw the three, isn't it?

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Does not waste any time on the mat, Jamie.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Turn now. In it comes, good player, good draw.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30APPLAUSE Four. What a good pick-up for

3:36:31 > 3:36:30England. It all came from Stuart Airey's second bowl. Could have been

3:36:31 > 3:36:30in trouble if he had missed that. Scotland scoring three in the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30previous end. Both an good conversion shots. We want to see

3:36:31 > 3:36:30people picking up scores were not very good goals, but this has been

3:36:31 > 3:36:30really good, excellent deliveries from all the players. A good shot

3:36:31 > 3:36:30from Alex and from from all the players. A good shot

3:36:31 > 3:36:30from Alex and Stuart to set that up. Andrew Knapper starting again. If we

3:36:31 > 3:36:30did not know already we know now that this is a game. It has not been

3:36:31 > 3:36:30a walkover. I watched the finals, slightly one-handed, playing down

3:36:31 > 3:36:30one side and it has been very one-sided because teams get away,

3:36:31 > 3:36:30forcing the team trailing on to the poor hand. You can find yourself in

3:36:31 > 3:36:30more trouble. Generally all of the play-off games, the percentages have

3:36:31 > 3:36:30been very close matches. David Peacock. Struggling slightly. John

3:36:31 > 3:36:30McGuinness, from Gerard 's cross, nice area to live. Not bad. --

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Gerrard's Cross. Very good bowl. England lying two. Knocked the red

3:36:31 > 3:36:30bowl in. Just a little loose from Scotland.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30That is a shame. He has dropped the weight off then. Big strike coming.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Trying to open it up. There was no reason to wait for you or third

3:36:31 > 3:36:30always to do that. -- for your third. Neal has that shot in his

3:36:31 > 3:36:30locker. Alex will use him if he thinks it is necessary.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Representatives of the Scottish team watching on.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Paul will probably draw with this bowl. They need something in here.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Paul Foster. That is the no need to drive when you can draw like that.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Great bowl. Congratulations from his skip. Watching the delivery from

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Stuart Airey it is very deliberate. He takes his time. Gets it away

3:36:31 > 3:36:30beautifully. But then compare that to the English skip.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30He does not want to just dart the shot bowl onto the jack. Will

3:36:31 > 3:36:30probably play just behind the jack, rather than to close. That is what

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Alex is looking out. He has just come the aren't to farm. Pocket of

3:36:31 > 3:36:30red bowls in a semicircle behind the jack. That is what Alex is

3:36:31 > 3:36:30red bowls in a semicircle behind the cover. Jamie Chestney. That is the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30comparison, the way so quickly. Very instinctive sort of player, Jamie.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30That is unlucky. Jamie is not dissimilar sort of style to Richard

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Corsi, he used to just smoothly delivered it without even thinking

3:36:31 > 3:36:30about it. Those players are very natural in their game.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30If it stays there it is good cover. Perfect. That is as good as he could

3:36:31 > 3:36:30do. If he tried to get any closer he would probably leave a catch. And

3:36:31 > 3:36:30this level you cannot afford to leave your opponent anything.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Because this man will take advantage. The first time he has

3:36:31 > 3:36:30taken any hesitation, wiping the bowl. Normally so quick off the mat.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Here it comes. Can just see the jack and no more. That has just gone

3:36:31 > 3:36:30behind. Scotland have one the play here.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Does he want to play at? ? Well, he has gone up to play at, we

3:36:31 > 3:36:30will see. The greens are a bit slow, there is a danger he might overplay.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30He does not want to tap that short bowl.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Gets it away sweetly. He has a great line in.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30That is understandable, he just played with a bit of caution.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Single shot to Scotland. Five ends played, nothing to separate Scotland

3:36:31 > 3:36:30and England. Five apiece. Good to see the blue sky overhead,

3:36:31 > 3:36:30John. Yes, it is quite a nice afternoon

3:36:31 > 3:36:30here. The crowd are in shirtsleeves, many of them.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Scotland, resplendent in shorts. That is a good opening bowl. He

3:36:31 > 3:36:30needs to do that because Andrew Knapper will take advantage of

3:36:31 > 3:36:30otherwise. Here comes Andrew Knapper. That was

3:36:31 > 3:36:30a pretty good effort. Disappointed to see one or two empty seats. I

3:36:31 > 3:36:30know plenty of people were desperate to get there and could not get

3:36:31 > 3:36:30tickets for this particular session. Left it short, Dave. He would have

3:36:31 > 3:36:30liked to have passed with that. That is pretty good, he has gone

3:36:31 > 3:36:30into a good position. Again, good second man to play.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30That is a good bowl, as well, a little unlucky to come through with

3:36:31 > 3:36:30it. Good bowling from the second is

3:36:31 > 3:36:30here. -- seconds. Got it. Good pick-up, stayed pretty

3:36:31 > 3:36:30close to it, as well, which is a bonus for England.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30It was a mess shot on and he executed it perfectly.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Yes, by doing it that way he takes away all the danger, the jack to the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30back of the rink. Gets it clean. Paul Foster. Great reaction from

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Paul Foster. As if to say, what? ! He expects to be on attack, Paul.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30All the time, and the error Sherman. -- Ayrshireman.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30That is very good from Stuart Airey, great ball there. This is

3:36:31 > 3:36:30That is just going to hang. On the trail of two Scots bowls,

3:36:31 > 3:36:30which isn't bad, but to previously excellent bowls, backed up by Stuart

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Kerry. -- Stewart Erie. What about that, then?

3:36:31 > 3:36:30He can drive, he can draw. There is very little that man cannot do.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30You'd done. -- beautifully done. If he can see it, the result is a

3:36:31 > 3:36:30danger. Look at that. They loved that, don't they? The Tartan Army

3:36:31 > 3:36:30are on the march. Jamie Chestney, a little shot on

3:36:31 > 3:36:30here, just wants to rest against the Scottish bowl and spring the jack.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30There is going to be a deep bowl coming here. Scotland have two

3:36:31 > 3:36:30cover. The front bowls looked really short,

3:36:31 > 3:36:30but it just shows you, they played really well, negotiated it again

3:36:31 > 3:36:30around the jack. He cannot legally play this type of

3:36:31 > 3:36:30bowl with his eyes closed, Alex. Very good.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Well, it does not lead a skill for all as -- as a skilful or as

3:36:31 > 3:36:30sensational as his first effort. I think Jamie is looking to play

3:36:31 > 3:36:30less weight possibly now. Just a little punch? The punch shot,

3:36:31 > 3:36:30yes. If he springs it about a metre, he could probably get at least one,

3:36:31 > 3:36:30maybe two out of this. Yes, less

3:36:31 > 3:36:30get down to the bowl. It is just hanging.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30It is an absorbing contest. It is between these best of friends but

3:36:31 > 3:36:30all list of enemies, the gold medal match, Scotland nudging just ahead

3:36:31 > 3:36:306-5. A good first bowl at the last end.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Yes, good ball by Davy. Good stuff from both leagues.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30That is what we expected. Good weight for this shot.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30The way that Scotland play bowls, they never leave a lot of bowls

3:36:31 > 3:36:30short. They look to turn them bowl, turned the jack. If they miss

3:36:31 > 3:36:30position, the two foot area just behind the jack is probably the most

3:36:31 > 3:36:30important in bowls. If you don't control that area you are in

3:36:31 > 3:36:30trouble. They have been the Masters for many years.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30A couple of epic battles against Northern Ireland. In one of the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30group stages it ended up 12-12, which they battled out to determine

3:36:31 > 3:36:30through won the group and who got the runner. Of course, what

3:36:31 > 3:36:30happened, they drew each other in the quarterfinal and it was another

3:36:31 > 3:36:30great battle. A lot of experience in that Northern

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Ireland four, as well. They did well to negotiate them.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Well, he has actually made that little worse.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30He did not want that. Unintentional. Just opened it up.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Another telling factor in this match will be simply not helping your

3:36:31 > 3:36:30opponent. A great game in the sunshine. Not

3:36:31 > 3:36:30always so much fun when it is tipping down.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30The bells chiming in the background. Yes, 1:45pm. They are just a little

3:36:31 > 3:36:30bit ahead, they were seven minutes late earlier in the Games.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30He did not get that away as he wanted.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Big effort. Has he got any of the jack? He has got a nip on it.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Scotland is still lie one, that is the Scottish bowl out to the side.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30He has got it out, given himself a chance. Not quite what he wanted, he

3:36:31 > 3:36:30would rather have taken it with him. England had been lying two, once

3:36:31 > 3:36:30they opened up problems came. to bend a little bit. Good weight

3:36:31 > 3:36:30but just held off slightly. Not easy to get the Centre in that area. Mrs

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Marshall were. -- there. Always has a smile on her face, Diane. Jamie

3:36:31 > 3:36:30has not sent this. Weight was not far-away, but drifting across.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Trying to find the line. Trying again. Just wants it to stop.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Puts the brakes on. It is a little long. Still room for Jamie. If he

3:36:31 > 3:36:30can find the line he will be OK but it is not an easy line. Looking to

3:36:31 > 3:36:30beat the jack high ball. Giving this a go. Could not have got much closer

3:36:31 > 3:36:30without drawing the shot. Single-shot to Scotland. The gold

3:36:31 > 3:36:30medal match. Scotland leading 7-5. These countries have a rich history.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Scotland were the first winners in Hamilton, Ontario. No first name is

3:36:31 > 3:36:30given. Scotland - England battles even back then. Scotland is taking

3:36:31 > 3:36:30bronze, England winning gold. This is better.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Trying again, Andrew Knapper. That is a good bowl will stop both

3:36:31 > 3:36:30players. Speirs in the area. That is the one.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30This is good for fours play all the time, very few wasted bowls.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Playing right through this, John McGuinness. The jack will be off the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30rink, back on the spot two metres and it is the case of, let's go

3:36:31 > 3:36:30round again. Gone from the short jack to a full-length jack, one

3:36:31 > 3:36:30delivery. Changes in the shot from Neil Speirs. Difficulty for him,

3:36:31 > 3:36:30having first go at that. Not sure of the pace.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30John McGuinness with the benefit of having watched Neil Speirs. He can

3:36:31 > 3:36:30use that as a target. Well, that is what he did not want to do. He

3:36:31 > 3:36:30wanted to at least get in front of that one. Both second players, we

3:36:31 > 3:36:30have mentioned we have not seen many wasted bowls but when you are

3:36:31 > 3:36:30bowling to 24 metres, the 30 plus. The difficulty from Neal having

3:36:31 > 3:36:30first crack at it, he was not sure what weight to play. But once a bowl

3:36:31 > 3:36:30has gone that you can use that as a target. Foster has put a good one in

3:36:31 > 3:36:30there. That is decent man's longer -- that is decent on that length.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Asking it to hurry up, rarely a good sign. When it is that far-away.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Good weight player normally, Stuart. Played in the Welsh team, came into

3:36:31 > 3:36:30being this team playing second for Tony Allcock. Very solid second fit

3:36:31 > 3:36:30only for many years. Missed his own but just a tickle

3:36:31 > 3:36:30taking it away. He will be disappointed, there was a chance for

3:36:31 > 3:36:30him. Two cracks at that. Giving this a chance. That is the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30one. APPLAUSE He made that look easy, didn't he?

3:36:31 > 3:36:30New length. I guess the best athletes always do. It is all about

3:36:31 > 3:36:30good line and length. The problem the Jamie Chestney now, it is a lot

3:36:31 > 3:36:30more difficult to beat this bowl. He is not reaching. England have played

3:36:31 > 3:36:30three bowls at this. Two badly short. The last four bowls have been

3:36:31 > 3:36:30poor bowls. We know it is not easy there but if you play a good line

3:36:31 > 3:36:30you have a good chance of getting close.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Trying to slide this one in as well. Gets past the front, it is good? Did

3:36:31 > 3:36:30not want to get that in the face. Scotland lying a couple. Tight,

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Alex. Now then, Jamie, get inside the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Scottish bowl. Higher line, not coming back. Two shots to Scotland.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Great bowl from Alex Marshall. You have to say at the moment he is

3:36:31 > 3:36:30probably the difference. He has turned a couple of ends, he is

3:36:31 > 3:36:30definitely the difference. With Paul Foster and Alex Marshall with MBEs

3:36:31 > 3:36:30to their name for services to the game. Which gives you an indication

3:36:31 > 3:36:30of what he has one. Scotland have made a mistake, they are short with

3:36:31 > 3:36:30the jack. It has now been returned to England. They are going for a

3:36:31 > 3:36:30shorter length, David Peacock not getting it up. England will go

3:36:31 > 3:36:30along. -- long. It is what we call an unforced error. In tennis and in

3:36:31 > 3:36:30many other sports, no pressure on new and you have just given your

3:36:31 > 3:36:30opponent a chance. Scotland keep first bowl. Nothing unforced or

3:36:31 > 3:36:30various about that shot. He was only kidding with the jack. -- unforced

3:36:31 > 3:36:30or erroneous. Such a good shot. That is the response. Great try by Andrew

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Knapper. Great try again. Swinging back and forth.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30David Peacock, that has the hurry. Get off the side one, that is

3:36:31 > 3:36:30another great bowl. Just starting to crank up the pressure a little bit.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30He is not short with that. Great chance. Good effort. Good bowl from

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Andrew Knapper. While we were chatting earlier, there are places

3:36:31 > 3:36:30to miss. If you're going to miss then, Miss behind. You do not want

3:36:31 > 3:36:30to leave anything five flippers short -- five feet short. Neil

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Speirs. Well, this is good bowling but it is a target. England put the

3:36:31 > 3:36:30jack there and they have put three bowls within the foot, Scotland. It

3:36:31 > 3:36:30tells your position something. -- opposition. His weight was good. We

3:36:31 > 3:36:30will see what Scotland play here. If they decide to go with weight.

3:36:31 > 3:36:30Trying again. Just drifting past would be good. That is really good

3:36:31 > 3:36:30play. Just dropping past the jack. Can play second for me any time. You

3:36:31 > 3:36:30are dropping me? I would not drop you! Does he have enough to get

3:36:31 > 3:36:30there? That is an excellent effort. Scotland trying to see if the jack

3:36:31 > 3:36:31has
