:00:22. > :00:27.Hello, good afternoon and welcome back to Glasgow and the 2014
:00:28. > :00:32.Commonwealth Games, got some great sport for you, lots of gold medals
:00:33. > :00:36.up for grab, drama in the men's team final in the gymnastics yesterday
:00:37. > :00:43.and more drama to come across at the Hydro. We are concentrate topping
:00:44. > :00:48.men's individual final, can anyone stop Max Whitlock? -- concentrating
:00:49. > :01:47.on. Scotland have two world class
:01:48. > :01:51.gymnasts, we had a brilliant day yesterday, and this promises to be a
:01:52. > :01:53.crack earthquake it is the men's all round final. Straight to our
:01:54. > :01:57.commentary team. Gln to you all.
:01:58. > :02:05.-- good afternoon the stage is set for what is going
:02:06. > :02:10.to be an extraordinary all round competition. All eyes are on that
:02:11. > :02:15.young man, Max Whitlock who scored over 90 in qualification for this
:02:16. > :02:21.final, and, well, you just wait for the roar that is about to echo round
:02:22. > :02:25.the Hydro arena for this young man, Daniel Purvis from Scotland.
:02:26. > :02:29.Yesterday, it was all about the team final, but today, it is every man
:02:30. > :02:34.for himself. Joining me to talk you through the
:02:35. > :02:38.action we have Mitch Fenner and Christine. Can Dan, the man that is
:02:39. > :02:44.used to coping with extraordinary pressure on the world stage cope
:02:45. > :02:49.with this Mitch? He has done it on the world stage. He qualified with
:02:50. > :02:54.just under 86 points, that is a good indication, if you are that sort of
:02:55. > :02:59.level you can raise your game. Max is out there, with 90 plus, but I
:03:00. > :03:06.think we can see Dan Purvis and Dan Keatings. And also Frank Baines and
:03:07. > :03:10.Nile Wilson, the list goes on. Young Nile Wilson? It does indeed. Dan
:03:11. > :03:15.Purvis did not compete particularly well in the team competition. He is
:03:16. > :03:20.capable, certainly, of a much better score than he showed, but like you
:03:21. > :03:25.say, the two youngsters are very impressive too. Here we go then,
:03:26. > :03:30.with the men's individual all round final. Dan Purvis kicks things off.
:03:31. > :03:35.Thissed will got a bronze at the World Championships on this piece of
:03:36. > :03:41.apparatus, so a good piece for him to start. A good secure opening
:03:42. > :03:48.pass. Double, double, just about got it inside the border.
:03:49. > :03:52.So far, two passes down. Handspring double front. A stutter with the
:03:53. > :04:03.feet. There is a no-nonsense look about
:04:04. > :04:10.him. Two-and-a-half and a twist. A lovely mirror of leg and arm
:04:11. > :04:19.separation, which is very nice to see. A bit of nonsense into the
:04:20. > :04:26.corner. Got his breath. Very nice, there is the old trademark, the
:04:27. > :04:34.straight leg roll out, out of the twists. And there is a presence
:04:35. > :04:40.about him here. Whip over, double Arabian and what a cracking opener.
:04:41. > :04:44.What a start! For Daniel Purvis. Receiving the love from the Hydro. I
:04:45. > :04:49.tell you what six piece, it is a long way round Chris, but he didn't
:04:50. > :04:53.give anything away there. He didn't. He wasn't very good on floor for the
:04:54. > :05:00.team competition, so to start like that is very impressive.
:05:01. > :05:08.Ashish Kumar from India, he qualified 13th. So he was eighth
:05:09. > :05:15.back in the games in 2010 in Delhi. He wowed us with exciting explosive
:05:16. > :05:22.work in Delhi, he has become a much more competent gymnast now. Very
:05:23. > :05:27.good. Extension. He is just a bit piked. A bit more piked than you
:05:28. > :05:30.would like to see for a real pommel specialist, but he is zipping along
:05:31. > :05:36.there. Good control, just slight loss of form round the knees.
:05:37. > :05:41.But very difficult work, a very good opener, he will more than happy with
:05:42. > :05:46.that for his first piece. Ashish Kumar with pommels in the bag. Good
:05:47. > :05:53.to see that, he is a specialist on the jumping apparatus, I am sure he
:05:54. > :06:04.could swing his supporters round. Well done. Very good in the Russian
:06:05. > :06:11.skills. That is the straight body swinging backwards as you can see.
:06:12. > :06:19.Still waiting for the score for Daniel Purvis. There it is. It is
:06:20. > :06:25.15.3. Oh, yes, he says. Now he will focus on pommel horse.
:06:26. > :06:30.Next up, on floor, for Scotland, Frank bane, just 19-year-old this
:06:31. > :06:36.lad. Hasn't been on the senior stage very long at all, but he has made
:06:37. > :06:39.his mark. -- Frank Baines. He was a little shaky in qualification,
:06:40. > :06:45.hopefully he has experienced this atmosphere and his nerves will have
:06:46. > :06:52.settled. Very good through the two twisting
:06:53. > :06:57.forward skills. Setting up nicely. Double pike Arabian, step forward,
:06:58. > :07:10.just keeps the feet inside the boundary. Double Arabian from whip
:07:11. > :07:16.over. Nice crisp edge to the way he is approaching this floor.
:07:17. > :07:25.Two-and-a-half twist, full twist. Snatches the foot back. Japanese
:07:26. > :07:36.handstand. Nice rhythm. Good and steady at the top.
:07:37. > :07:42.Kicks out nicely to ensure shoulder contact, a smooth roll. I mustn't
:07:43. > :07:48.bounce out of that. -- they mustn't bounce out of that.
:07:49. > :07:54.A triple twist. Yes! Mr Bain, good job. Well, even after that first two
:07:55. > :07:59.floor routine, the competition, Chris, is on. Frank Baines he was
:08:00. > :08:05.junior European chap champion two years ago, he has big work, he was
:08:06. > :08:13.unsteady in qualification with his own coach, coach to Frank and Daniel
:08:14. > :08:16.Purvis. Ashish Kumar 12.533. That is not a
:08:17. > :08:35.bad score at all for pommel horse. Christopher Done from New Zealand.
:08:36. > :08:39.Qualified in 12th position. The 22-year-old starts his competition
:08:40. > :08:42.on pommel. A good smooth opener. Snaps the legs shut at the top of
:08:43. > :08:56.the handstand. Travelling confidently. Looking
:08:57. > :09:02.strong, keeping the shape. Ooh, that is the difficult skill. He just
:09:03. > :09:07.about kept the rhythm going. Now, ooh, and that struggled a little bit
:09:08. > :09:13.O strength there, but a clean routine. He didn't come off and he
:09:14. > :09:17.made it through to the end. Good performance there for
:09:18. > :09:23.Christopher. A bit more successful than he was earlier on in the
:09:24. > :09:28.competition, qualification. You have to remember this is third day of
:09:29. > :09:37.gymnastics for these lads. A tough schedule. Frank Baines scored
:09:38. > :09:42.14.633, so down nearly a mark on Dan Purvis but good performance from the
:09:43. > :09:46.young Scot. Well, this lad here was the first British gymnast ever to
:09:47. > :09:51.medal for Great Britain in the all round competition at the World
:09:52. > :09:57.Championship, that was back in 2009. Got a silver. I wish Dan Keatings
:09:58. > :10:07.the very best for his all round competition. I want him to do well
:10:08. > :10:13.here. Come on Dan! Double, double. Kept it inside. Good
:10:14. > :10:21.start. Must have heard you, Matt. Double tuck in the Arabian. Skipping
:10:22. > :10:28.round this floor. Nice positive edge to his work. Lovely, it is an
:10:29. > :10:38.impressive skill. Handspring with no foot contact. Did he just keep his
:10:39. > :10:46.foot in there? Flair, he will go up again, no, he will go into Russian,
:10:47. > :10:51.that is a nice combination, flairs and Russians, the linking skills, he
:10:52. > :10:55.did very well and a nice wide arm spread of the Japanese press. Well
:10:56. > :11:13.held. Finding the corner. To allow maximum
:11:14. > :11:16.run. Gone very well so far. Two-and-a-half twist, just a hop
:11:17. > :11:22.forward, but that is what you wanted to see. He is looking steady. Yes I
:11:23. > :11:25.thought he might be a bit too overadrenalised but that was a
:11:26. > :11:31.lovely controlled routine, he looked absolutely determined. He did
:11:32. > :11:35.indeed. 15.3 is the score to beat. His compatriot Dan Purvis posted
:11:36. > :11:43.that one as the fist gymnast up on floor, but one down, five to go for
:11:44. > :11:52.Dan Keatings. So all three Scottish lads rally good performances. 12.466
:11:53. > :11:58.for Kristofer Done. Difficult piece to start on this, for your six, to
:11:59. > :12:05.come out here and, you know, it is the equivalent of the women's beam.
:12:06. > :12:12.Nerves will jangle, and many a find all round prospect has come to grief
:12:13. > :12:17.on here, the pommel horse. So David Bishop, the second New Zealander in
:12:18. > :12:22.the men's all round final. He is swinging with nice style. Hips
:12:23. > :12:26.lifted at the front. Very smooth. Has to keep this up. A it'll bend of
:12:27. > :12:32.the knees at the front. When you have good style, the little
:12:33. > :12:39.deviations notice a lot. Good work here. Ooh... Used a bit of strength
:12:40. > :12:43.there up into the dismount, but you know, it is difficult to start on,
:12:44. > :12:47.but if you get through it's a good feeling, you have it behind you.
:12:48. > :12:52.Good point. Really good point. Moving on to rings. After pommel
:12:53. > :12:55.horse. Just picking up on that fact, Mitch,
:12:56. > :12:59.this is the third day of competition, in what is strength
:13:00. > :13:06.sapping gymnastics. Yes, swing is the name of game. You don't want to
:13:07. > :13:12.use too much strength. 14.8 puts Keatings into second place at moment
:13:13. > :13:16.ahead of Frank Baines. Dan Purvis leads the all round competition at
:13:17. > :13:23.the moment but for how long is the question? Nile Wilson for England,
:13:24. > :13:33.such a powerful gymnast, for such a young lad, just weeks out of junior
:13:34. > :13:40.ranks. Oh, dear me. Double, double. On a six pence. Those of you that
:13:41. > :13:49.remember what a six pence was! Twist into half twist. This is very
:13:50. > :13:57.solid. First two passes. Accelerates through flick a bit deep
:13:58. > :14:06.on the double tuck Arabian. Nice kick out from the one and three.
:14:07. > :14:15.Forward tucked. Nice change of rhythm; just to demonstrate control.
:14:16. > :14:21.And didn't he do that. Nicely in the corner. To allow plenty of time to
:14:22. > :14:25.get into the big tumble. Two-and-a-half twist, full twist, he
:14:26. > :14:33.really is, he is pulling something special out of the bag here. Stick
:14:34. > :14:40.this, and he will be delighted. Triple twist, just a little bit
:14:41. > :14:46.deep, but he is not phased at all in the senior atmosphere. -- fazed. How
:14:47. > :14:51.can he deliver such difficulty at such a young age? That was key to
:14:52. > :14:54.England's team. You can see Louis Smith and Kristian Thomas in the
:14:55. > :15:02.stands. His difficulty was key to that ten mark margin between England
:15:03. > :15:13.and Scotland in the team final? 1212.666 for David Bishop's pommel
:15:14. > :15:19.horse. Nile Wilson has impressed all the way through the junior ranks as
:15:20. > :15:24.well, really strong, secure gymnast. Sean O'Hara, if you saw the
:15:25. > :15:32.qualifications, you will know he has some fire in his belly. He needs to
:15:33. > :15:37.remain calm for this piece. And Australia will really be wanting to
:15:38. > :15:41.have a good showing in this all-around final, not been so
:15:42. > :15:46.successful in the team competition, but this is lovely swinging, isn't
:15:47. > :15:47.it? The extension of the back, the flick of the legs, very difficult
:15:48. > :16:00.work as well. Oh, but he lost it, and that will
:16:01. > :16:05.really hurt him. Some flashes of brilliance, and then a lack of
:16:06. > :16:11.concentration at the end. The qualified in the top ten, so he will
:16:12. > :16:15.be hoping to cling on for a top-ten finish here. Nile Wilson, with the
:16:16. > :16:29.fourth highest floor score so far, 14.6. So Dan Purvis still leads.
:16:30. > :16:34.Well, to be gymnast that has been named all-round champion before he
:16:35. > :16:37.has stepped onto the floor, but there is a lot of weight on his
:16:38. > :16:39.shoulders, Max Whitlock for England, and this is one of the pieces where
:16:40. > :16:49.he can score very, very highly. Full twist into two and a half. He
:16:50. > :17:00.is a twister, in the nicest sense of the word. Three and a half into
:17:01. > :17:05.half. Seven twists already if you count the halves. Oh, that is so
:17:06. > :17:12.impressive! Closing the lift doors, making sure
:17:13. > :17:36.of the handstand. Takht, one and three quarters,
:17:37. > :17:45.nicely brought in. -- tucked. Two and they had into one and a half. --
:17:46. > :17:50.two and a half. And a triple twist to finish! Do you know what? There
:17:51. > :17:57.were 15 twists in that routine! Max Whitlock starting his all-around
:17:58. > :18:01.competition in the way he would have wanted. Really good stuff from Max,
:18:02. > :18:08.he seems to really enjoy the pressure, it seems to bring the best
:18:09. > :18:14.out of him. Well, he is looking very, very focused. Sean O'Hara,
:18:15. > :18:19.11.833, I think the message here Izzi would have been wanting more
:18:20. > :18:28.than that. Absolutely sure he would have been.
:18:29. > :18:44.Iwan Mepham of Wales. Unimpressive set of scores he put together. Not
:18:45. > :18:50.so much huge difficulty, but good, stylish gymnastics, swinging well
:18:51. > :18:55.here. -- an impressive set. The Welsh teams have done exceptionally
:18:56. > :19:04.well throughout the gymnastics programme. He faltered but he
:19:05. > :19:10.struggled on. He got through it, and he will have every tenth the judges
:19:11. > :19:18.are prepared to give him! Well done! Nice extension at the front, and
:19:19. > :19:21.there he just got his legs bent. But he is a young man, he has got a lot
:19:22. > :19:46.to offer this board. -- this sport. Max Whitlock Housby highest score so
:19:47. > :19:49.far, 15.466, 0.166 above Purvis. What could have been for Sam
:19:50. > :19:54.Oldham! Still waiting for the results of his ankle scan, but he
:19:55. > :20:01.would have been in with a shout of a podium. But the powerhouse that is
:20:02. > :20:10.Clinton Purnell for Wales, that is is all-around competition opening on
:20:11. > :20:15.floor. It goes in cycles, a good day, not such a good second, and if
:20:16. > :20:19.it does go in cycles, this will be a good day for him! Nice clean opener.
:20:20. > :20:38.Double twist into half. Two and a half twists, rescued the
:20:39. > :20:42.landing. He is a big strong lad and should have no problems with this.
:20:43. > :21:06.I love that movie. -- move. Full twist, I tell you what, this is
:21:07. > :21:19.good, steady floor work. Triple twist, he got it around,
:21:20. > :21:24.Clinton Purnell! Reminding everyone that he is also in with a shout of a
:21:25. > :21:28.medal. Absolutely, led the Welsh team brilliantly in the team
:21:29. > :21:40.competition and posted a very good qualifying score on floor.
:21:41. > :21:46.Two more gymnasts from this group on floor. Iwan Mepham scores 12.133.
:21:47. > :22:08.Five pieces to go. Aristotelous from Cyprus, his second
:22:09. > :22:14.Commonwealth Games. He qualified in 16, hoping to improve on his
:22:15. > :22:19.qualification place. Yeah, he starts with the single leg work, double
:22:20. > :22:25.hands, whipping along, you can see the legs flexing of it. The idea is
:22:26. > :22:28.to hold the body as straight as possible, legs locked together, and
:22:29. > :22:34.all those little splits of the legs will be deductions. Short and sweet,
:22:35. > :22:38.that routine. Well, Aristotelous, I am sure, is delighted to get that
:22:39. > :22:44.piece of apparatus out of the way. Now he can focus on rings.
:22:45. > :22:56.Clinton Purnell goes into sixth, a score of 14.366.
:22:57. > :23:05.Luke Wadsworth for Australia, one of the two Australians in the first
:23:06. > :23:14.group, full of home nations gymnasts. The impressed in
:23:15. > :23:17.qualification, fourth in the Australian Championships all-around.
:23:18. > :23:23.-- the impressed. I think he is capable of quite a lot here. Good
:23:24. > :23:28.start, and that is an indication of it.
:23:29. > :23:34.One and a half twists in two double twist. This is sprightly, nice and
:23:35. > :23:48.sharp, crisp around the area. Two and a half twists. Rebound from
:23:49. > :23:51.it. Look at that, the way he approaches this! Absolute
:23:52. > :24:02.determination. It looks simple, but it is a
:24:03. > :24:07.compulsory element, you have to included. Just a tiny folder, all
:24:08. > :24:26.these things count. -- falter. Characteristic, the way he attacks
:24:27. > :24:32.it, full twisting double, a little bit steep, but a good opener for
:24:33. > :24:36.Wadsworth. Yeah, picking up the energy circulating around that
:24:37. > :24:41.group. It will be interesting, that, Matt. I think that Australia sort of
:24:42. > :24:44.allowed themselves to make silly mistakes in the team competition,
:24:45. > :24:51.but in this group with everyone fighting, I think it will be
:24:52. > :24:55.different. A score of 12.066 for Aristotelous, 15th at the moment. So
:24:56. > :25:02.Max Whitlock still leading this competition ahead of Dan Purvis,
:25:03. > :25:21.cheating is for Scotland, Frank Baines is for. -- Keatings. Just
:25:22. > :25:25.outside the medals at the last Commonwealth Games in Delhi. A
:25:26. > :25:38.stylish gymnast. Good lift of the hips, he has got a
:25:39. > :25:48.good physique for pommel horse work. Oh, but the split of the legs there.
:25:49. > :25:55.Every step of the way, a difficult move. They had the values together
:25:56. > :25:59.to get the difficulty level, and that was a very nice dismount
:26:00. > :26:05.indeed, the best one we have seen so far today. Well, he is in the pommel
:26:06. > :26:09.horse final, and he would have been relying on that to get as many
:26:10. > :26:14.points as possible in this competition. The splay of legs would
:26:15. > :26:19.have frustrated him somewhat. Luke Wadsworth, a score of 13.9, it puts
:26:20. > :26:23.him in seventh, just behind Purnell from Wales.
:26:24. > :26:34.Hold onto your hats for a while, this is Tsukahara, originally from
:26:35. > :26:40.Japan, took up residency in Australia in 2013. He is 37 years
:26:41. > :26:50.old, so the most experienced gymnast on the park. Steady start, one and a
:26:51. > :27:01.half twists into half twist. Lovely characteristic Japanese style.
:27:02. > :27:12.Almost leisurely, but lovely to see that, you know, he's working within
:27:13. > :27:22.himself, consummate technique. Lovely control, Chester roll out,
:27:23. > :27:27.Japanese press. -- chest. Conventional pike struggle press,
:27:28. > :27:31.but look at the basic skills showing through.
:27:32. > :27:47.Giving nothing away so far, but it is not in a difficult league. The
:27:48. > :27:52.into a double twist finished, he enjoyed that. Classy, classical
:27:53. > :27:56.gymnastics, that is exactly what that was. His scores were very
:27:57. > :28:08.fortunate to Australia in that team final, but so are the last gymnast
:28:09. > :28:13.to go in that group. -- Tsukahara. 13.45 for Gan on pommel horse. A
:28:14. > :28:21.score of 5.7 for difficulty, 7.75 on execution. Rakesh Patra from India
:28:22. > :28:29.will be the last gymnast to go in this rotation.
:28:30. > :28:36.Swings very quickly and high above the handles. Not always completely
:28:37. > :28:45.in the right plane, but he is very strong and very fast, moving well
:28:46. > :28:50.along the horse. On the one handle as well, this is really such
:28:51. > :28:56.improved work. Confident in the single legwork, oh, just clipped the
:28:57. > :29:00.horse. You have to stay clear of it. Limited the shoulders of it to get
:29:01. > :29:05.up into the dismount, but happy to be through that routine. --
:29:06. > :29:13.plummeted. Most of these gymnasts have had a good go. A good go
:29:14. > :29:19.indeed, some good work there. 13.933, and he can thank his ease
:29:20. > :29:27.score for that, because he kept the difficulty down.
:29:28. > :29:44.The trains in the United States, and he had a bit up and down in the
:29:45. > :29:47.all-around qualification, he did well to get here. Nice and clean,
:29:48. > :30:11.strength elements precisely done. ambitious, he will have to swing, he
:30:12. > :30:20.has had three strength in a row. Good control, forward. And the back,
:30:21. > :30:25.just a tiny softness in the back. Good timing. A forward twist. Did
:30:26. > :30:31.you hear that? You can hear from for miles. They probably heard it back
:30:32. > :31:01.in Trinidad and Tobago. Grobler have South Africa. Starting
:31:02. > :31:19.on the rings. Strong, good, stylish work here. Very nice, swinging work.
:31:20. > :31:24.Holds, a straddle position. Fighting, good flat position in the
:31:25. > :31:31.back. That was very nice, the swing into handstand. And the other
:31:32. > :31:36.direction, forwards and backwards he is controlling the rings. Lots of
:31:37. > :31:42.swing into one-and-a-half twisting double back, a lit bit short on the
:31:43. > :31:51.real big strength elements, but very nice style. -- little bit. 13 then,
:31:52. > :31:56.13.766. Beth as it stands at the moment it is England and Whitlock,
:31:57. > :32:02.Purvis, Keatings both for Scotland, what a start on floor, we knew Dan
:32:03. > :32:06.Purvis was going to be strong but Max Whitlock. They have said I am
:32:07. > :32:13.out here and ready yes Pete. It is going to be a difficult day, Max,
:32:14. > :32:18.did set the benchmark, he us up near the end of the rankings I saw him
:32:19. > :32:24.sat with his coach, in his own world. I think I added it up, if I
:32:25. > :32:28.done my maths right, he does 16 twist, he is like a spinning top.
:32:29. > :32:32.The crowd, as soon as he starts doing that, they love it. It is an
:32:33. > :32:36.interesting point, lots of gymnast work the code for their body type,
:32:37. > :32:39.which you did brilliantly yourself, because there is twisting or
:32:40. > :32:45.rotation, you could take those moves out of the different grades. Yes, I
:32:46. > :32:49.mean obviously you see Daniel Purvis and Nile Wilson they do more of the
:32:50. > :32:53.double somersaults with the twisting, Max, because he is such a
:32:54. > :32:57.good twister his routine is based round that. We have talked of the
:32:58. > :33:02.calibre of British gymnastics, it is remarkable and somebody who was
:33:03. > :33:07.watching from up a height was of course Sam Oldham. We will see Sam
:33:08. > :33:13.shortly, because he is here just as a spectator today, and how must that
:33:14. > :33:17.feel? I have been sat in the stands when you are injured in
:33:18. > :33:20.qualification it is a nice feeling, you can see him chatting it through
:33:21. > :33:25.with his coach. Will be disappointed. He would have been
:33:26. > :33:29.competing today. We wish him well in his recovery and hopefully, he will
:33:30. > :33:32.be back competing soon. I mean the World Championship, they are not too
:33:33. > :33:35.far away. The question remains should he have gone all out for
:33:36. > :33:40.difficulty on that particular vault? Hey, you have to try it. You have to
:33:41. > :33:43.put it out there at some stage, his coaches were confident he was able
:33:44. > :33:48.to do it, otherwise they wouldn't have put it out there, and with the
:33:49. > :33:53.World Championships so close, maybe they thought this was a great place
:33:54. > :33:57.to try it. Let us turn our attention to the pommel horse which is where
:33:58. > :34:01.the top eight are going. Pride is at stake here, within the Home Nations.
:34:02. > :34:05.I mean, Max has another try to get out there before the pommel final
:34:06. > :34:10.tomorrow, and hopefully, he will set another sort of bar, ready for that
:34:11. > :34:15.competition tomorrow, and you have got Daniel Keatings, there is still
:34:16. > :34:18.that rivalry there. He is looking settle -- settled and Dan Purvis as
:34:19. > :34:25.well. This is also a good score builder for him he has a bit, a
:34:26. > :34:29.little bit of a gap above frank Baines but as a young junior. Both
:34:30. > :34:33.him and Nile, they have stepped up to the mark. It is not easy to make
:34:34. > :34:37.that transition from junior to senior but they have both done it.
:34:38. > :34:42.-- Frank Baines. Also in this rotation you have lads working on
:34:43. > :34:46.rings and on vault as well. And they are just coming towards the end of
:34:47. > :34:51.their warm up, just making sure that there is a lot of chalk on the feet
:34:52. > :34:55.here. This is Tiaan Grobler from South Africa. So he will be the
:34:56. > :34:58.first gymnast at the end of the vault run away. Gymnasts in the all
:34:59. > :35:04.round competition, they just get the one vault. It is all-or-nothing
:35:05. > :35:10.here. We will hand back to Mitch and Christine. And the big dynamic vault
:35:11. > :35:15.expected here, full twisting, straight Tsukahara. Not the most
:35:16. > :35:24.difficult we will see. But very nicely purr formed. Good tight body
:35:25. > :35:28.shape. Very accurate. As Chris says, not
:35:29. > :35:33.the most difficult but really nice, in an all round competition, to get
:35:34. > :35:46.a vault like that under your belt, good. Second apparatus for him.
:35:47. > :35:55.On the rings and Kristofer Done, saw him on pommel horse, but hoping to
:35:56. > :36:03.build his score here, 12th highest qualifier. A big gymnast. Had to be
:36:04. > :36:11.strong to work the rings well. Very nice swinging work, which is
:36:12. > :36:18.almost becoming a sort of stock item in the rings routine. Hardly seen a
:36:19. > :36:21.gymnast without those two front somersaults, fighting a bit at the
:36:22. > :36:27.top of the handstand. You have to swing on straight arms as possible.
:36:28. > :36:30.You saw a bit of the elbows there. Double tuck with full twist.
:36:31. > :36:40.Efficient work, not the most difficult, but he didn't give too
:36:41. > :36:44.much away to the judges. Yes, seems to be the story of his
:36:45. > :36:51.all round competition, keep it nice and consistent, don't push it too
:36:52. > :37:00.much and hope that others mess up. Grobler, a score of 3.366 -- 13.366.
:37:01. > :37:10.The first gymnast on to pommel horse in this top group. Frank Baines.
:37:11. > :37:16.Good attack. Leg separation and a nice handstand at the top. Now, he
:37:17. > :37:24.is on to what they call the flop combinations over one handle. Very
:37:25. > :37:32.nicely done. Very disciplined in the placement of his hands. This is a
:37:33. > :37:35.spindle. Oh, and he is a bit wild there.
:37:36. > :37:41.Lost the rhythm. What a shame for Frank, he will know
:37:42. > :37:46.that is his bid to a medal out the door. -- that his bid for a medal
:37:47. > :37:53.out of the door. It is important to keep your body straight. If you sink
:37:54. > :37:59.your hips, he bent his legs and he parts company.
:38:00. > :38:02.Again, when you have done so little senior competition, exposure like
:38:03. > :38:07.this is vital for your career, isn't it Mitch? Yes, part of the learning
:38:08. > :38:11.curve, and he got straight back on, with lovely technique. Smoothly
:38:12. > :38:16.through the handstand, that is very nice, he has got a great future in
:38:17. > :38:19.front of him. He has, let me tell you Frank Baines will continue to
:38:20. > :38:28.impress in this men's all round final. Very stylish gymnast. Like
:38:29. > :38:34.Mitch says great technique. Kristofer Done. 1.333, the score of
:38:35. > :38:40.the Championship so far that, we have seen it so many times. His
:38:41. > :38:48.compatriot from New Zealand. David Bishop. What can he do on rings?
:38:49. > :38:53.These gymnasts have been divided into groups by their score, that is
:38:54. > :39:05.very nice strength move, shoulders well inline. It is interesting how
:39:06. > :39:16.the countries are packed together. Shoulders beautifully down, straight
:39:17. > :39:23.arms. Swings into the strength hold lifts to handstand. Can see he is
:39:24. > :39:27.holding the rings still. That was nicely done. From handstand, swing
:39:28. > :39:31.on straight arms,er back to handstand. Into the dismount,
:39:32. > :39:37.one-and-a-half twists in the double back, he fought very well to not let
:39:38. > :39:42.himself sit down. That extra half twist is tricky to spot your landing
:39:43. > :39:50.and know where the grouped is coming but scurried back, did his best not
:39:51. > :39:58.to give away too many tenths. Frank bane, 12.825. Fair. Well Daniel
:39:59. > :40:02.Keatings, he has been double European champion on this piece of
:40:03. > :40:06.apparatus. He was doing ever so well after floor. But he will have to
:40:07. > :40:14.keep consistency if he wants to get up on to that medal rostrum. He is
:40:15. > :40:20.capable, can he deliver? I would love to see him deliver. He has got
:40:21. > :40:28.super shape, super swing, super rhythm. When he hits. Bang, lovely
:40:29. > :40:34.clean handstand. Pick up, pushes hips forward. On one handle. Got
:40:35. > :40:41.himself a D so far, that is a safe D flop. He is trying a move that is
:40:42. > :40:48.very ambitious and he did it beautifully. Triple Russian in the
:40:49. > :40:53.middle of the Wu. A spindle which does pull people away from the horse
:40:54. > :40:58.now and again. This is excellent from Dan Keatings. Triple Russian on
:40:59. > :41:05.the enend, now he is back to travelling. -- end. Magyar. Pushing
:41:06. > :41:11.hard through the move. Keep the rhythm. Keep it swinging, that was
:41:12. > :41:17.world class from Dan Keatings. Lock at the smile. What a delight to
:41:18. > :41:22.watch. His competition going very well. Come on Dan Keatings. I think
:41:23. > :41:27.everybody here was absolutely delighted. Hugely popular gym naths,
:41:28. > :41:33.we have seen him have ups and downs, it would be great if today was an
:41:34. > :41:38.up. -- gymnasts. I have a good feeling about this. Let us not curse
:41:39. > :41:44.him too much! David Bishop. 12.566 for rings, puts
:41:45. > :41:54.hill in sixth but there is a lot of gymnastics to come in this round.
:41:55. > :42:04.Sean O'Hara. You sense a bit of fire in there. He
:42:05. > :42:10.is building up to this one. The test Tos Rhone through the dell toyeds.
:42:11. > :42:15.Making sure of the grip here. Testosterone. You don't want your
:42:16. > :42:21.wrists to be too bent otherwise you won't get the full value of the
:42:22. > :42:25.move. Absolutely. But gymnasts they have lucky things they do. That is
:42:26. > :42:30.good strength element to start with. It is probably a bit more
:42:31. > :42:34.psychological than anything that he needs to really work his hands on to
:42:35. > :42:41.the ring r just needs to flatten the back out slightly in the handstand.
:42:42. > :42:50.Here we see the two double front somersaults. Lots of control. Just
:42:51. > :42:57.fraction the shoulders are needed to be, it was a good try. He has a bit
:42:58. > :43:02.of a swing on here, Chris. He, yes, yes he has, they are moving a bit,
:43:03. > :43:07.the rings. And that soft back is a bit of a problem again. Even more of
:43:08. > :43:12.a problem there, when you have a fault, it sort of magnifies through
:43:13. > :43:16.the routine. But he managed it well, he controlled it. Lovely full
:43:17. > :43:20.twisting double back dismount. He had a couple of timing issue, what
:43:21. > :43:23.happened when the rings start swinging, it is very difficult to
:43:24. > :43:28.make sure that you start your swing at exactly the right time and stop
:43:29. > :43:30.them dead, and you will notice some gymnasts can control them
:43:31. > :43:38.beautifully. Look that the score of 15.533!
:43:39. > :43:44.Keatings looking good for a medal. Even at this early stage.
:43:45. > :43:49.Gn and that is our time here on BBC Two, but we will be back with
:43:50. > :43:52.further coverage of the men's gymnastics and the Hydro here in
:43:53. > :43:56.Glasgow, at the 20th Commonwealth Games in just a few moments on BBC
:43:57. > :44:02.One. So if you switch over right now, you can continue to enjoy this
:44:03. > :44:03.fantastic men's individual all round final. See you in a
