:00:25. > :00:31.Hello again, welcome back to what has been an absolutely pulsating

:00:32. > :00:38.date. We have had a wonderful afternoon watching events at the

:00:39. > :00:49.Hydro. We are just going to nip straight back. When we left it on

:00:50. > :01:03.the BBC1, Becky Downie was in the gold medal position and could only

:01:04. > :01:09.be denied by her team-mate. Absolutely the right decision to

:01:10. > :01:14.come off. The rules of the competition have to go through the

:01:15. > :01:19.difficult decision of awarding a score. It would be better not to do

:01:20. > :01:26.it but there are rules and regulations that have to be abided

:01:27. > :01:39.by. But this does not help the gymnast who is to come, Ruby Harold.

:01:40. > :01:45.8.33 then for her. Now the last woman to go in this uneven bars

:01:46. > :01:53.final. It is Ruby Harold. If she can deliver the same performance as she

:01:54. > :02:10.did yesterday, it will get her a silver medal. Very difficult start.

:02:11. > :02:15.Very unusual half term, feet up and into handstand. She makes the full

:02:16. > :02:24.pirouette and straight up to the shoot up. She is getting her links.

:02:25. > :02:36.This is important. Very well done. Spin, land. It is going to be close.

:02:37. > :02:45.Very close. I am sure that she will meddle with that. She only needs

:02:46. > :02:52.13.66 to knock any black out of the medals. I agree. I am sure she will

:02:53. > :03:01.win a medal. I do not think she will challenge Becky's position. If her

:03:02. > :03:11.difficulty is awarded as yesterday, she is not .1 up on Larissa Miller.

:03:12. > :03:17.Very nice. Some original stuff. A flighted transfer to low bar. She

:03:18. > :03:28.really did go for it. Plenty of risk. Technically, very sound

:03:29. > :03:38.indeed. The half term. That is really good to see. A little bit of

:03:39. > :03:47.original work. Lots and lots of work packed in. She certainly deserves a

:03:48. > :03:57.medal. You can see her looking at the bar all the way through. Coaches

:03:58. > :04:09.like to see that. She will be delighted. And you can see it.

:04:10. > :04:22.Finalist last year at the Europeans and the World Championship on bars.

:04:23. > :04:27.Ruby Harrold gets a bronze medal. Rebecca Downie is Commonwealth

:04:28. > :04:32.champion. Larissa Miller from Australia takes the silver medal.

:04:33. > :04:42.Ruby Harrold from England takes a bronze. STUDIO: Fantastic stuff.

:04:43. > :04:48.There is one more event to come and that is the rings final which you

:04:49. > :04:59.can watch on the red button. It is all happening over at Hampden. Some

:05:00. > :05:12.are saying that this could be the best night at the track. David

:05:13. > :05:23.Ruisha is going. But let's get going in the women's 200 metres. Andrew

:05:24. > :05:33.Cotter is your commentator. The first of these semifinals might be

:05:34. > :05:56.the hardest to get out of. Jodie Williams getting her wonderful

:05:57. > :06:11.welcome from the crowd. Kimberly Hyacinth is going as well. Okagbare

:06:12. > :06:23.The freshly crowned 100 metres champion. Veronica Parreira is only

:06:24. > :06:40.17 years old. From Swaziland in lane one. Okagbare might just be a blur

:06:41. > :06:52.in the distance for her. A little bit of drizzle falling at the

:06:53. > :07:03.moment. Blessing Okagbare in lane three. Jodie Williams in lane five

:07:04. > :07:16.and Kimberly Hyacinth in six. Only to go through automatically to the

:07:17. > :07:21.final late at night. So easy to spot the tall blond figure of Blessing

:07:22. > :07:26.Okagbare. Williams with a bit of work to do. Kimberly Hyacinth

:07:27. > :07:31.outside of her. Blessing Okagbare is storming around the bend. Jodie

:07:32. > :07:39.Williams has to try to get into second place to get automatic

:07:40. > :07:48.qualifying. She passes McLaughlin. Blessing Okagbare was imperious

:07:49. > :07:54.again. A time of 22.43. That is quick enough. A well timed run by

:07:55. > :07:59.Jodie Williams to take second place. A very good run by Jodie Williams.

:08:00. > :08:08.It is a semifinal and they are all tricky. For her to run just outside

:08:09. > :08:13.her best with all the pressure and things around her is a very good

:08:14. > :08:18.performance. Look at the woman in lane three, in the Greenham,

:08:19. > :08:26.Blessing Okagbare from Nigeria. She comes into the home straight with a

:08:27. > :08:34.clear lead. She has that lovely bouncing stride which tells is that

:08:35. > :08:38.she is not fatigued at all. Jodie had to work very hard but one she

:08:39. > :08:43.got past the Jamaican she was relieved to be clear in second

:08:44. > :08:49.place. You have to run hard for the line because you want to make sure

:08:50. > :08:53.that you get a good lane. The important thing is to win it because

:08:54. > :08:59.the winners get the preferred lane draws. That is the most important

:09:00. > :09:10.thing. Time just outside her personal best that she got in the

:09:11. > :09:13.Diamond league. She is flying at the moment. Behind Blessing Okagbare.

:09:14. > :09:22.Jodie Williams is down there with Phil now. Well done. Close to your

:09:23. > :09:30.personal best. I wasn't expecting it to be that fast. I felt relaxed and

:09:31. > :09:40.tried to concentrate on running my race. I have never done this kind of

:09:41. > :09:47.racing before. I have never had a final and semifinal so close. It is

:09:48. > :09:59.going to be interesting. It is just about who can recover the most. Well

:10:00. > :10:11.done. All the best for the final. Blessing Okagbare looking fairly

:10:12. > :10:16.comfortable. Well done to Jodie Williams. She got that automatic

:10:17. > :10:22.qualification. The first of three semifinals in the women's 200

:10:23. > :10:32.metres. Denise, Paul and Michael are with me. A quick line on her form?

:10:33. > :10:36.Her form looked good. I was a bit confused by the strategy. She didn't

:10:37. > :10:42.really attack the bend and came late. I would like to see her do the

:10:43. > :10:47.opposite. It is hard work doing it that way. Would she have had the

:10:48. > :10:52.final in mind with the way she approached it? It doesn't matter if

:10:53. > :10:57.she is the final in mind or if you are running like a final, you have

:10:58. > :11:05.two attack the bend. Having not done that, I don't really understand what

:11:06. > :11:11.she has done. She said she didn't expected to be that fast. Maybe she

:11:12. > :11:16.thought it wasn't going to be so fast and she could run more easily.

:11:17. > :11:22.It takes more energy to kick at the end. If you hours to rest and

:11:23. > :11:31.recuperate and go again. The final of the men's and women's. Let's go

:11:32. > :11:42.with the second semifinal. We also have British interest. Earlier the

:11:43. > :11:49.sun was out in Glasgow but we have had one or two heavy showers that

:11:50. > :12:11.have passed. A slightly easier heat, I think, for Onoura. Shocking

:12:12. > :12:20.pink in line 74 Jamaica. Onoura from Liverpool. The first time I saw her

:12:21. > :12:28.was in 2006. A great year last year but not quite as fast this. Calvert

:12:29. > :12:39.of Jamaica won her heat comfortably. 23 14. Inside her, the tall figure

:12:40. > :12:53.of Alexander. From St Vincent and the Grenadines. I think this is

:12:54. > :13:08.going to be a tight heat. Emmanuelle from Canada. King from the British

:13:09. > :13:20.Virgin Islands. On the inside, finished fourth in Delhi, Wisil from

:13:21. > :13:30.Papua New Guinea. 100 metres is her better event. This stadium has been

:13:31. > :13:37.fantastic all the way through the athletics programme. One or two

:13:38. > :13:45.empty seeds that will fill up through the evening. Let's hope the

:13:46. > :13:53.rain holds off. The 200 metre final for the women is at 8:45pm. The two

:13:54. > :14:04.winners and the two fastest losers from the three races will go

:14:05. > :14:10.through. Onoura gets a pretty good start and so does Calvert.

:14:11. > :14:18.Emmanuelle of Canada started quickly in Lane 3. It is Calvert of Jamaica.

:14:19. > :14:22.Onoura needs to stay strong. She is going to come under pressure from

:14:23. > :14:30.Emmanuelle but not enough. She is looking really good. Calvert wins

:14:31. > :14:36.it. 22.97. Around about 23 seconds in this race was all that she needed

:14:37. > :14:39.to do. She has been around that this season. It was a pretty good

:14:40. > :14:42.performance. She was pretty season. It was a pretty good

:14:43. > :14:49.performance. strong coming down the last 50. We have seen her on many

:14:50. > :14:53.occasions blast around the turn and have zero left in the tank with 30

:14:54. > :15:09.metres left. I think she controlled that race a lot better. It was a

:15:10. > :15:17.really good performance from her. There is Anyika Onuora. Third from

:15:18. > :15:22.the left. She comes down this home straight pretty strong. She will

:15:23. > :15:28.have studied the form of all of the athletes very well. This will have

:15:29. > :15:33.given her confidence but she can work hard right the way through.

:15:34. > :15:38.Great performance. She is working hard towards an excellent

:15:39. > :15:42.performance. I think she will be pleased she is in the final and now

:15:43. > :15:47.she can recover. But let's hear from her. Colin Jackson talking about how

:15:48. > :15:54.much confidence that it will give you going into the final? It does,

:15:55. > :16:00.I'm looking forward to it. I am taking it one race at a time.

:16:01. > :16:04.Remembering everything my coach has told me throughout the season.

:16:05. > :16:08.Making use of the opportunities I have got. The crowd are good and the

:16:09. > :16:15.track is quick. Looking forward to the final. What about doing a double

:16:16. > :16:23.duty tonight with the semifinal and the final to come? I did 400 now, so

:16:24. > :16:27.it is no different I have been putting in the work. There will be

:16:28. > :16:33.more to come in the final, so I am looking forward to that. That final

:16:34. > :16:45.at 845 p.m.. One more semifinal to come.

:16:46. > :16:58.Discus final about to start. Brett Morse gets the competition underway.

:16:59. > :17:20.Look out that the Indian, the lead qualifier.

:17:21. > :17:28.Gowda was second last time the Commonwealth Games were held in

:17:29. > :17:34.Delhi. He would like to go one better this time around. That looked

:17:35. > :17:41.like a tentative start. The athletes got absolutely drenched during their

:17:42. > :17:49.warm up. The circle has been mopped up between throws. Gowda looks like

:17:50. > :18:05.the first athlete to go beyond 60 metres. Carl Myerscough, the black

:18:06. > :18:12.tall tower, as he is known. -- Blackpool Tower. His feet seemed to

:18:13. > :18:23.place them down. That would tell me he is a bit nervous about slipping.

:18:24. > :18:34.That left arm may be just leading a little bit too early. What opens his

:18:35. > :18:39.account with 58.17. That is what is happening in the east end of Hampton

:18:40. > :18:46.Park. To the west, we find the start of the 200 metres and third

:18:47. > :18:53.semifinal of the women's 200 metres. Final is at 8:45pm so it

:18:54. > :19:01.semifinal of the women's 200 metres. turnaround for these women. Samantha

:19:02. > :19:08.Henry-Robinson in lane five. There is Bianca Williams. She was sixth in

:19:09. > :19:31.the final of the 100 metres. Another young talent coming through. Jade

:19:32. > :19:39.Bailey in lane three from Barbados. Papaioannou from Cyprus. Ashleigh

:19:40. > :19:44.Whittaker. Just two who go through automatically plus the two fastest

:19:45. > :20:01.losers. As Steve was saying, that last semifinal was quick. Look out

:20:02. > :20:05.also for Janet Amponsah in lane six. Shai-Anne Davis in lane seven is a

:20:06. > :20:20.contender for the automatic qualifying. The first semifinal was

:20:21. > :20:36.very, very quick. Have not seen a false start for some time in the 200

:20:37. > :20:49.metres. Oh dear. That is Janet Amponsah, I think. She may be

:20:50. > :21:01.heading for the exit. Stare straight ahead. Pretend all is still fine.

:21:02. > :21:09.She is not making it obvious, but I think they will come looking for

:21:10. > :21:21.her, these bad men. Alan Bell on the left. Just having a word. The only

:21:22. > :21:26.way she can be excused if it is a technical fault. Showing the

:21:27. > :21:33.reaction times, it is not the low attendance of a second from Janet

:21:34. > :21:39.Amponsah. It may well be a fault. It could be the case, I was chatting

:21:40. > :21:47.with Alan Bell yesterday about the circumstances about the starts, and

:21:48. > :21:49.he explained it all to me. They are looking at the gun, so there could

:21:50. > :22:00.be something wrong with the equipment. Janet Amponsah is OK. It

:22:01. > :22:07.is a green card, which means a technical fault so everyone lives to

:22:08. > :22:16.run another day. Crowd are cheering. And indeed Janet Amponsah. Ashleigh

:22:17. > :22:21.Whittaker from Australia. Papaioannou. Jade Bailey, Bianca

:22:22. > :22:28.Williams, Samantha Henry-Robinson. Janet Amponsah, Shai-Anne Davis,

:22:29. > :22:35.Ashley Kelly in lane eight. Two go through automatically to the final

:22:36. > :22:46.later this evening. And then the two fastest losers out of all of the

:22:47. > :22:52.semifinals. Cleanly away this time. Bianca Williams off to a decent

:22:53. > :23:00.start. Samantha Henry-Robinson is motoring around the bend. Can Bianca

:23:01. > :23:05.Williams hanged on? Shai-Anne Davis running well. Samantha

:23:06. > :23:14.Henry-Robinson is looking comfortable. 23.17. You try and get

:23:15. > :23:21.is quick time as possible. It is a good for Bianca Williams. Very

:23:22. > :23:29.strong performance from Bianca Williams. No doubt she has heard the

:23:30. > :23:34.other English ladies going through. They have all made it through. Let's

:23:35. > :23:40.look at the centre of the field. Bianca Williams drives out the

:23:41. > :23:47.blocks. When she gets to about 80 metres she realises I have gone past

:23:48. > :23:51.the Jamaican. Now the home straight. This is important, the transition

:23:52. > :23:59.off the bend is where you can make a huge impact on your opponents. She

:24:00. > :24:05.made the transition very well. She is relaxing into the line, which is

:24:06. > :24:08.great to see. She is saving a bit of that energy. You heard Michael

:24:09. > :24:16.Johnson saying it before, saving energy is important. As the winner

:24:17. > :24:23.she will get a good blame in the semifinal. But this was impressive

:24:24. > :24:27.from Bianca Williams. Absolutely. It is important. It makes a difference

:24:28. > :24:39.in the draw. It is a great performance by her. The English

:24:40. > :24:42.girls looking good so far. There is the confirmation. Y Williams was

:24:43. > :24:56.looking at the replay as well. Safely along.

:24:57. > :25:02.STUDIO: Well done to the English girls. They are British as well. It

:25:03. > :25:06.is a point we have been making through the season, how well British

:25:07. > :25:12.sprinting has been going. To get them through to the final tonight,

:25:13. > :25:20.it is important to cement that and keep the progress growing? When you

:25:21. > :25:24.are in shape, it means you are fit and healthy. New have got the

:25:25. > :25:29.background in your legs and it is important you deliver what you are

:25:30. > :25:36.expected to do. All three women safely through. Actually running

:25:37. > :25:43.really well and commanding those semifinals. It is great. All young,

:25:44. > :25:48.especially Jodie Williams. Bianca Williams has been a great junior,

:25:49. > :25:51.but making the step up to the senior rankings is so important for the

:25:52. > :25:57.next stage in her career. Going back to what you said about Jodie

:25:58. > :26:05.Williams, she did it back to front and did not attack the ban. Bianca

:26:06. > :26:11.Williams appeared to do just that? She did exactly that. Just analysing

:26:12. > :26:18.this race. It is almost perfect execution. Great start and Colin

:26:19. > :26:24.Jackson was talking about the transition. But can be difficult but

:26:25. > :26:29.some athletes and how you do that will dictate how quickly you run the

:26:30. > :26:35.race in some cases. Now she is able to relax. Jodie Williams was the

:26:36. > :26:41.opposite at this point, she was still having to really work hard.

:26:42. > :26:47.This sets herself up well for the final. The technique is really nice.

:26:48. > :26:54.She has got the build. She is not a powerful runner but she has great

:26:55. > :27:08.technique and great Fort speed. That comes from the 100 metres. -- foot

:27:09. > :27:14.speed. That was a great race. Commonwealth games for an athlete

:27:15. > :27:21.like Bianca Williams, she could get a medal here and that would be

:27:22. > :27:28.fantastic, imagine her confidence? She has doubled up here, which is a

:27:29. > :27:33.challenge. Blessing Cabrera would only be the fourth woman in

:27:34. > :27:40.commonwealth games history if she did the double. To get a medal and

:27:41. > :27:48.get on the podium for those English girls has got to be the aim? It has

:27:49. > :27:53.got to be. What Jodie Williams alluded to having to do two lots of

:27:54. > :27:59.200 back-to-back tonight will not be deep -- easy. They have got to get

:28:00. > :28:05.their head into gear. Let's turn our attention to the men coming up.

:28:06. > :28:15.Three semifinals for them. Jason Livermore, Jason Livermore in the

:28:16. > :28:20.oriented James Ellington the other day. They were kept apart in the

:28:21. > :28:32.semifinals. I would like to see them again later in the final. Liked the

:28:33. > :28:37.comments afterwards when he said, James Ellington said you don't want

:28:38. > :28:41.to do that, it will only make me run faster. There is a clear favourite,

:28:42. > :28:50.the Jamaicans are running well. The English, you have three in there as

:28:51. > :28:56.well. Let's get down there and get Steve Cram to bring us up to speed.

:28:57. > :29:03.Gavin Smellie in lane six. Jason Livermore is in lane five. I think

:29:04. > :29:28.the danger will be the man in lane number four. Ncincilili Titi. Danny

:29:29. > :29:36.Talbot, European bronze-medallist. Teray Smith from the Bahamas. 19

:29:37. > :29:53.years of age. On the inside, Joel Redhead. He has seen his national

:29:54. > :29:54.200-metre record disappear to Kirani James who won gold last night.

:29:55. > :30:05.Winston George on the outside in seven with Daniel Bailey. First two

:30:06. > :30:26.and the two fastest losers. Danny Talbot, looking at the three

:30:27. > :30:30.contenders in lanes outside him. Livermore was a little bit slow out

:30:31. > :30:38.of the blocks. Smellie gets a really good start. It is Gavin Smellie

:30:39. > :30:43.leading at the moment. Livermore packing away right on the outside.

:30:44. > :30:53.It is going to be close. Well, well, well. Livermore, Bailey and Tolbert

:30:54. > :31:04.in a photo finish. The others faded away. It was a bit of a scrap. 40,

:31:05. > :31:09.30, 20 to go, it was all still to play for. It is going to be hard to

:31:10. > :31:25.make it through as the fastest loser. It is Danny Talbot. You can

:31:26. > :31:33.hear the cheer from the crowd. He ran a good bend. He gave himself a

:31:34. > :31:39.really good chance. He put himself in a good place. You can see how

:31:40. > :31:46.tight that is. I wouldn't want to separate them. Danny, third from the

:31:47. > :31:52.right on the screen. He drives out of the blocks. He was being very

:31:53. > :31:56.aggressive in his preparations. Looking at the conditions and saying

:31:57. > :32:02.it doesn't matter. I can make this final. He worked really hard around

:32:03. > :32:08.the turn and he was going to race from gun to tape. No messing about,

:32:09. > :32:13.eyes focused, pumping hard. I am glad he found the energy just to

:32:14. > :32:17.give others that extra lean which makes a huge difference. If he had

:32:18. > :32:35.stayed upright he would have missed the final. We knew this was going to

:32:36. > :32:41.be a quality race. That is interesting for various reasons.

:32:42. > :32:48.Bailey is out in Lane 8 and ran quite a big personal best. From

:32:49. > :32:52.Antigua. He almost caused an upset. Danny Talbot very close to his

:32:53. > :33:10.personal best making it through to the 200 metre final at 9:10pm. The

:33:11. > :33:21.discus throw final continues. This is the Jamaican record holder,

:33:22. > :33:25.31-year-old Jason Morgan. I was watching this guy warm up. He looked

:33:26. > :33:34.very good. If the competition was for height of the discus, he would

:33:35. > :33:39.win hands down. Creates such height. Absolutely jumps out of the throwing

:33:40. > :33:56.position. The height of the discus travelling way beyond 60 metres. He

:33:57. > :34:01.has taken the lead. We are now in the second round. We are chasing a

:34:02. > :34:12.lead of 62 metres from that throw by Morgan. It looks as though he has

:34:13. > :34:19.gone beyond it. A 63 metre season's best. He is right up against that in

:34:20. > :34:23.what are difficult conditions for discus throwing. Wet underfoot and

:34:24. > :34:48.the discus wet in hand. He takes the lead. Gowda the favourite, that

:34:49. > :34:54.won't challenge for the lead. The Cypriot looks as though he will stay

:34:55. > :35:11.in the lead in these early stages of the second round. Gowda trying to

:35:12. > :35:13.play catch up. These are the qualifiers for the women's 200

:35:14. > :35:44.metres final. We move onto the second of three

:35:45. > :35:50.semifinals in the 200 metres. Warren Weir is the standout star for

:35:51. > :35:56.Jamaica in Lane 6. We are looking at two to go through automatically.

:35:57. > :36:08.This is Rodney from Canada in Lane 7. This is Warren Weir's moment.

:36:09. > :36:19.Bronze in London at the Olympics. Silver in the European

:36:20. > :36:27.Championships. Lehata from Lesotho in Lane 5. Chris Clarke had a great

:36:28. > :36:56.career as a 400 metre record. The in Lane 5. Chris Clarke had a great

:36:57. > :37:11.runner from Fiji runs in Lane 2. Sorilla from Trinidad and the. Van

:37:12. > :37:20.Niekirk was a good silver medal behind James. This will be hard for

:37:21. > :37:31.Chris Clarke. Six men have gone faster than him this season in this

:37:32. > :37:41.race. I am not sure that anybody rose. Is that another technical

:37:42. > :37:48.problem? Maybe a bit different this time. It looks as though it is Lane

:37:49. > :37:53.2. He did this in the 100 metres and he was spared. I'm not sure that he

:37:54. > :37:58.will be spared this time. He did exactly the same in the 100 metres.

:37:59. > :38:14.I'm not sure whether it was early meeting generosity. There you go,

:38:15. > :38:23.that is remarkably quick or illegal. Anything under half a second is

:38:24. > :38:27.considered to be inhuman. It is a guide to say farewell. It is a shame

:38:28. > :38:34.because he did very well to reach this stage. His personal best is

:38:35. > :38:40.just outside 21 seconds. That is nice, a brotherly chat with the

:38:41. > :38:50.official. It is a shame. He got a second chance in the 100 metres. No

:38:51. > :39:05.second chance here. The Fijian leaves ours.

:39:06. > :39:20.Away this time. A roar from the crowd. Chris Clarke losing some

:39:21. > :39:33.already. But moving nicely around the bend. Warren Weir and Sorilla

:39:34. > :39:42.are the two. Lehata is making ground as well. A bit too quick and fast

:39:43. > :39:50.for Chris Clarke. Warren Weir states his credentials as possibly the

:39:51. > :39:54.favourite for this title. It is not as smooth as I have seen him run

:39:55. > :39:59.earlier in the year. I was watching his preparations for the race and I

:40:00. > :40:03.wasn't sure he was thinking too much about it. He works hard around the

:40:04. > :40:13.turn. Far more aggressive than I see in the heats. Comes off into the

:40:14. > :40:21.bend and he has this silky stride as well which is lovely to watch. We

:40:22. > :40:27.have seen him push on stronger than that in the past. Looking like to on

:40:28. > :40:32.his feet. But he has qualified and when you have his credentials, you

:40:33. > :40:42.have been on 20 seconds as many times as he has, then he is allowed

:40:43. > :40:46.to take it a little bit easy. Unfortunately Chris Clarke was

:40:47. > :40:50.struggling in this company. He is not going to make it but Warren Weir

:40:51. > :41:02.running nicely and looking at the times, Daniel Bailey and Smellie are

:41:03. > :41:06.looking good from the first semifinal. Warren Weir will go

:41:07. > :41:19.through to the final later this evening. The other name to look for

:41:20. > :41:41.is van Niekirk, perhaps more than one event was a stretch too far. To

:41:42. > :41:50.reiterate the point. The two fastest losers came from the other heat.

:41:51. > :41:55.Round two of the discus, Jason Morgan, looking to put some distance

:41:56. > :42:08.between himself and the rest of the competitors. Really attacked that.

:42:09. > :42:16.Looks as though he might be less than his first round. It is always

:42:17. > :42:21.an opportunity in a field event. You get in front and you want to impose

:42:22. > :42:40.yourself and let rip. He certainly did that. Really committed to that.

:42:41. > :42:46.A slight improvement. The third attempt of Gowda, six tall. He

:42:47. > :42:54.snatched at that. It is long. Finally the man who led in

:42:55. > :43:00.qualifying has dropped a big throw. One of the tallest in the

:43:01. > :43:16.competition now becomes the longest. Yes, he has taken the lead. It was a

:43:17. > :43:47.very difficult semifinal for James Ellington. He looked pretty good

:43:48. > :43:52.against Livermore but the question is whether he can step up here. A

:43:53. > :43:59.bunch of men in this heat have run quicker than him. In fact, have run

:44:00. > :44:06.quicker than his lifetime best. That is Leon Reid. He is into. He runs

:44:07. > :44:10.for the Bristol club. He had his 20th birthday later in the week. I

:44:11. > :44:17.think the guy outside him is interesting. I wasn't very good in

:44:18. > :44:23.tipping the young South African but the Canadian looked good yesterday.

:44:24. > :44:29.Just 19 years of age. He has improved four tenths this year

:44:30. > :44:39.already. 20.56 and qualification yesterday. This is another good

:44:40. > :44:47.youngster on the outside. Just 20 years of age. It might not be bad

:44:48. > :44:52.for Ellington to work off him. But it is a really tall order. All he

:44:53. > :44:57.can do is run his best race. All he can do is hope that one or two

:44:58. > :45:04.others are not performing at that level. This Kenyan young man. Kenya

:45:05. > :45:11.starting to throw up 400 metre runners, sprinters and field event

:45:12. > :45:16.is. That is quick but Adams is even quicker than that. A new personal

:45:17. > :45:29.best for him. He carried the flag for his country. Made the final of

:45:30. > :45:41.the 100 metres. Ashley Dwyer, the more familiar name. -- Rashid Dwyer.

:45:42. > :46:01.The Canadian. Not a big guy. Neither is Leon Reid. The Canadians are very

:46:02. > :46:09.excited. Andre de Grasse is still learning his craft. That is where

:46:10. > :46:24.you can get it a bit wrong. Rashid Dwyer, the experienced Jamaican.

:46:25. > :46:33.Carvin Nkanata in six and James Ellington in seven. The third

:46:34. > :46:41.semifinal. The fastest losers will have to run under 20.5 to get

:46:42. > :46:49.through is the fastest losers. Antoine Adams started quickly. James

:46:50. > :47:02.Ellington had a very good bend. Look at Rashid Dwyer, the experience

:47:03. > :47:08.beginning to tell. After the build-up and the ability and their

:47:09. > :47:15.times, some of them ran pretty average. James Ellington ran

:47:16. > :47:25.solidly, it was at the end when you wanted him to come on a little bit,

:47:26. > :47:27.he would have had a chance of sneaking through is the fastest

:47:28. > :47:30.loser. He did not do it. Everybody else looked like they were fighting

:47:31. > :47:39.for that? There was a lot of tension, too much energy around the

:47:40. > :47:47.turn, perhaps. Look at Rashid Dwyer will stop he opens the gap without

:47:48. > :47:59.any effort. He does that beautiful transition. He can go to an

:48:00. > :48:03.extension and that is why he broke clear so quickly, using very little

:48:04. > :48:14.effort indeed. Good performance by the Jamaican, but everybody else

:48:15. > :48:21.seemed to be struggling. James Ellington in fourth. 20.66 and is

:48:22. > :48:25.talking to Philip now. That was a tough semifinal and you

:48:26. > :48:34.were in contention, what happened in the home straight? I think I ran a

:48:35. > :48:41.pretty strong bend. Coming down the home straight, my legs had nothing

:48:42. > :48:47.and I felt tired. I don't know what to say, really. Obviously I would

:48:48. > :48:51.like to have formed a lot better than that and I know I can perform

:48:52. > :48:58.better than that. No excuses, I did not execute the race I wanted. It

:48:59. > :49:02.happens. You said to me you are not a very good morning Runner, but you

:49:03. > :49:10.are sharper then? I was a little bit. I should have taken a couple of

:49:11. > :49:20.breaths and gone again. Sometimes you get caught up in the race. I am

:49:21. > :49:33.annoyed. Thanks the talking to others. -- was.

:49:34. > :49:48.Rashid Dwyer and Akani Simbine has gone through. The two fastest losers

:49:49. > :49:54.will come from the first heat. STUDIO: Having three English women,

:49:55. > :50:00.just Danny Talbot for the home nations. James Ellington will be

:50:01. > :50:08.disappointed, I think he expected more of himself? It is so hard. You

:50:09. > :50:13.don't want to be overcritical, but that is as good as he had. He is

:50:14. > :50:17.very consistent but he does not have another gear to go to and that is

:50:18. > :50:24.the way some athletes are. Look at Danny Talbot, he pumped himself

:50:25. > :50:28.before the race because he knows there is an opportunity to sneak

:50:29. > :50:31.into the finals, maybe come away with a medal, but at least give

:50:32. > :50:38.yourself the opportunity. You have got to raise your game. Apart from

:50:39. > :50:46.Warren Weir, there are no really big names, everybody else is in the

:50:47. > :50:53.melting pot. Jason Livermore was a fraction quicker and Danny Talbot,

:50:54. > :51:00.do you see it between those three? I think Rashid Dwyer looked the best.

:51:01. > :51:05.He looked the most relaxed, in control of the race and able to shut

:51:06. > :51:19.it down about 20 metres from the finish. I think there is a lot

:51:20. > :51:30.more. Warren Weir, the bronze-medallist at 200 metres and

:51:31. > :51:34.the class of the field did not look very comfortable. He did not look

:51:35. > :51:49.very sharp and did not relax in the race. He has run really fast this

:51:50. > :51:59.ear, but I am not sure what shape he is in because he has not brought

:52:00. > :52:00.that 19 seconds into this Championship. The 800 metres,

:52:01. > :52:02.semifinal. Before we go to commentary, it is loaded. Jenny

:52:03. > :52:04.Meadows. They read through the heats because they use season's best

:52:05. > :52:09.coming into the year. I think this heat is tougher, wise words. Andrew

:52:10. > :52:19.Cotter. There is a really loud noise for Lynsey Sharp. Affection transfer

:52:20. > :52:24.from Ian your two Lynsey Sharp and they will for Eilidh Child who runs

:52:25. > :52:33.later on. Melissa Bishop runs the Callan -- Canada. Eunice Sonne, the

:52:34. > :52:45.overwhelming favourite. World favourite last year. Jenny Meadows,

:52:46. > :52:52.it bit of a hint she is getting her times back. The young woman from

:52:53. > :53:01.Hollywood, student at Queens University in Belfast, Katie Kirk.

:53:02. > :53:09.Said she felt sick with nerves before her first race, but looked

:53:10. > :53:16.good. Marilyn Okoro. World finalist in Berlin five years ago. Not quite

:53:17. > :53:26.in the same form of appeal years ago. We did not see Angela Smit in

:53:27. > :53:33.the outside lane. Three go through automatically. Two semifinals

:53:34. > :53:43.tomorrow. Lynsey Sharp, free from the outside sets of added recent

:53:44. > :53:55.days. Eunice Sum will take the lead as they break. Sum settles down in

:53:56. > :53:56.the position we expect. Her attack digs in this event will be

:53:57. > :54:02.significant. the position we expect. Her attack

:54:03. > :54:12.digs in Athletes will bump into each other and struggle. Jenny Meadows on

:54:13. > :54:18.the shoulder of Sum. Lynsey Sharp running in a good position on the

:54:19. > :54:41.outside. Crowd responding. It is a wonderful response. Pretty decent

:54:42. > :54:44.pacemaking. Lynsey Sharp awaiting. Hopefully Jenny Meadows will get her

:54:45. > :54:49.form back and she will be a contender here. This will unfold in

:54:50. > :54:55.the next few metres. Jenny Meadows making an effort. Lynsey Sharp looks

:54:56. > :55:03.to be in trouble. The crowd is willing her on but her face is a

:55:04. > :55:09.mask of pain. Three go through only automatically. The New Zealander now

:55:10. > :55:14.beginning to make a move. You can see how Lynsey Sharp is struggling.

:55:15. > :55:21.She will not make it unless she can do something miraculous. Sum in the

:55:22. > :55:31.front, Jenny Meadows. Lynsey Sharp is coming but it is too late. It

:55:32. > :55:37.will be Eunice Sum, Melissa Bishop and Angela Smit. The rest will have

:55:38. > :55:44.two C the time. Marilyn Okoro judges across the line. Lynsey Sharp will

:55:45. > :55:50.feel the despair, but she was never in the race. Bit of a strange run by

:55:51. > :55:55.Lynsey Sharp. She looked to be out of it completely. Eunice Sum was

:55:56. > :56:05.comfortable. Jenny Meadows struggling. Bishop of Canada on the

:56:06. > :56:13.inside. Lynsey Sharp foolish in quickly, I don't know why she left

:56:14. > :56:17.it as late as she did. -- finishing quickly. Eunice Sum control this

:56:18. > :56:27.event. She is the world champion and we expect more from her in the

:56:28. > :56:31.final. Let me remind you of some of the

:56:32. > :56:39.headlines so far of what has been a wondrous afternoon in the gymnastics

:56:40. > :56:48.today. There was a third gold medal for Max Whitlock is he added the

:56:49. > :56:51.floor title to his individual. Golden hat-trick for the new star of

:56:52. > :56:58.gymnastics, Claudia Fragapane E after the 16-year-old vaulted to

:56:59. > :57:05.victory. Daniel Keatings has made history with Scotland's second only

:57:06. > :57:12.gymnastics gold medal. Louis Smith was in bronze, and he said he will

:57:13. > :57:35.continue in the sport. In the last hour, Rebecca Downie's long wait for

:57:36. > :57:39.a major medal is over. So much to look forward to. We have Shelly

:57:40. > :57:44.Woods and David Weir. Eilidh Child, the poster girl for Scottish

:57:45. > :57:48.athletics in the 400 metres hurdles. We are waiting to see if Lessing

:57:49. > :57:55.Ockham Burke can be the fourth athlete to do the 100 metres and 200

:57:56. > :58:01.metres double. Hope you are enjoying this. Bye for now.
