:00:51. > :00:54.Scotland! The world champion kicks away, she's going to become the

:00:55. > :01:05.Commonwealth champion. Who is going come second? Silber for Scotland!

:01:06. > :01:12.And here he is, here he goes, Bolt has got it in his hand, the Usain

:01:13. > :01:15.Bolt show starts. The crowd cheering him on. Jamaica qualified for the

:01:16. > :01:25.final, thank goodness for that. What a women's eight and remit was,

:01:26. > :01:30.and the fastest man in history giving the crowd a glimpse of his

:01:31. > :01:35.powers. We have got a boxing semifinal, but first, back to

:01:36. > :01:42.Hampden and that joined Debbie. I expect Hampden to it is the

:01:43. > :01:56.women's 800 metres medal ceremony. Dame Kelly Holmes among those

:01:57. > :02:10.attending the middle is out there. It will be a special moment.

:02:11. > :02:15.run better and better, she was discovered a couple of years ago,

:02:16. > :02:27.brought to the European circuit and is training in Holland. What a

:02:28. > :02:36.season she has had. What a night for Uganda. Kipsiro a gold medal also.

:02:37. > :02:42.An emotional Lindsay Sharp, her mother and father, such

:02:43. > :02:48.inspirational figures to her. Her dad won medals in Brisbane in 1982,

:02:49. > :02:52.and his illness and her problems have contributed to the emotion

:02:53. > :03:10.behind tonight's brilliant performance. Apple not worrying.

:03:11. > :03:20.Is the world champion, Sum, she was always likely to win the gold medal

:03:21. > :03:23.here. She was able to come and produce a top form, unlike David

:03:24. > :03:36.Rudisha. Kelly Holmes giving her the gold medal. I just wonder whether or

:03:37. > :03:46.not that silver medal for Lynsey Sharp is one that just had a little

:03:47. > :03:50.more residents with the public. -- resonance. A silver medal, I'm sure

:03:51. > :04:00.there will be some tears on the rostrum here.

:04:01. > :04:46.Lynsey Sharp's year began with a medal ceremony in Glasgow for an

:04:47. > :04:52.medal that she finally got given after the European Championships in

:04:53. > :04:57.2012. And now she rightfully gets to stand on the rostrum in front of a

:04:58. > :05:04.huge home crowd and enjoy what will be a moment she will never forget.

:05:05. > :05:04.It is a race she will never forget. Well done, Lynsey, brilliant

:05:05. > :05:18.tonight. Lynsey Sharp is trending all over

:05:19. > :05:22.the UK, I think she will have touched a lot of people tonight, for

:05:23. > :05:28.her emotion in her post race interview. She will have been trying

:05:29. > :05:31.to keep a lid on that all week, trying not to let as many of her

:05:32. > :05:38.rivals know just how difficult a year she has had, at the same time

:05:39. > :05:43.it will have given her so much fuel. Now she can relax, she can be very

:05:44. > :05:47.proud of herself, but some of that emotion will be there for a long

:05:48. > :05:48.time. Sometimes you know, when you are injured, you don't

:05:49. > :05:51.time. Sometimes you know, when you are injured, you want to keep

:05:52. > :05:55.talking about it, the more it plays on your mind, Sadie just want to

:05:56. > :05:59.focus and use that mental strength she clearly showed them the back

:06:00. > :06:00.straight, focus and use that mental strength

:06:01. > :06:07.she clearly showed them the back to overcome. It is a classic case of

:06:08. > :06:10.triumph over adversity because she is an amazing performer, and I'm

:06:11. > :06:24.sure those tears are tears of joy, relief, attitude to the people, her

:06:25. > :06:27.team who have helped. You can see in her face, how much she wanted it,

:06:28. > :06:33.just to the months of disappointment behind her. She's just closing her

:06:34. > :06:38.eyes, she will have visualised that moment so many times, to keep her

:06:39. > :06:42.going through cross training, recovery from surgery and when she

:06:43. > :06:47.has been ill. She will have been going back to all those feelings.

:06:48. > :06:50.She didn't even need to open her eyes, she was just trying to get

:06:51. > :06:57.every last ounce of energy out there. She's the daughter of two

:06:58. > :07:02.Commonwealth Games athletes, her mum was an 800 metres runner as well,

:07:03. > :07:09.she talks about her being her rock. She highlights the team effort.

:07:10. > :07:14.Absolutely, we hear athletes talk a lot about the support that they get,

:07:15. > :07:20.but that support was incredibly important for her in this situation

:07:21. > :07:24.and it paid off for her. There is another great champion, Sally

:07:25. > :07:28.Pearson of Australia, lining up for the 100 metres hurdles final. The

:07:29. > :07:35.Olympic champion, second in the world last year after having had an

:07:36. > :07:39.injury, she looks back to her best. Timing her season, I think, to

:07:40. > :07:44.perfection. She had some problems but she looked impressive in those

:07:45. > :07:47.heats. Let's see if she can deliver. TIffany Porter will be pushing her

:07:48. > :08:00.all the way. The Australians, waking up to

:08:01. > :08:03.breakfast with the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, not just a battle

:08:04. > :08:13.between Sally Pearson and TIffany Porter, they are the outstanding

:08:14. > :08:14.candidates but Angela Whyte, silver medallist at the last two

:08:15. > :08:23.Commonwealth Games. But in that country there has been

:08:24. > :08:31.so much coverage and cost a nation about her build-up, falling out with

:08:32. > :08:37.her courage, -- coach. She has put that behind her. Daniel Williams

:08:38. > :08:47.might get amongst the favourites, to champion last year. TIffany Porter,

:08:48. > :08:50.is this her time? Bronze at the World Championships last year in

:08:51. > :08:56.Moscow, she has had some great tussles with Pearson this year.

:08:57. > :09:00.Three Australians in this final. Shannon McCann finished very

:09:01. > :09:09.strongly in the last couple of hurdles in her heat to come through.

:09:10. > :09:14.Lucas, a former 400 metres hurdler. She made this final by one

:09:15. > :09:25.thousandth of a second over Solomon of England. Pearson and Porter, the

:09:26. > :09:30.favourites for this one. They have met three times this season. Porter

:09:31. > :09:35.leads to - one. Plisson's one victory came here in the Diamond

:09:36. > :09:46.League by 100th of a second. -- Pearson's one victory.

:09:47. > :10:07.Ten barriers between one of these women and Commonwealth gold.

:10:08. > :10:15.Clearly away, Pearson out to her customary fast start and hurdling

:10:16. > :10:22.heatedly. Porter is coming now. It is going to be so close. Sally

:10:23. > :10:30.Pearson for gold awards again! Who can stop her? 12.67. Despite all the

:10:31. > :10:34.trouble is, all the talk, all the news about her unsatisfactory

:10:35. > :10:41.build-up, she is champion again. She has defended her title. Gold from

:10:42. > :10:46.the woman in green and gold, the Australian flag flies again. An

:10:47. > :10:50.awesome performance from Sally Pearson, not just her running, but

:10:51. > :10:55.all the pressure she has been under, knowing she comes into this

:10:56. > :11:01.competition fresh off a victory, but knowing that Tiffany is coming into

:11:02. > :11:07.good form, she's a good battler when it comes to Championships, she

:11:08. > :11:10.always produces her best Porter. So there was a lot of pressure on Sally

:11:11. > :11:17.Pearson to deliver the gold medal for Australia. She has one of the

:11:18. > :11:24.best hurdling styles. Enjoying these scenes. Angela attempt one macro got

:11:25. > :11:33.a bronze bottle to add to her previous silver medals. -- Angela

:11:34. > :11:38.Whyte. She is one of the female sprinters who has excellent leg

:11:39. > :11:43.speed, she can get out of the blocks very well and her pick-up is strong

:11:44. > :11:48.and powerful. That is what you want to do, get to that first hurdle, as

:11:49. > :11:53.fast as you can, put the pressure on everybody else around you. You do

:11:54. > :11:58.establish a rhythm and when you have that rhythm going, it is hard to

:11:59. > :12:02.shake people out of it. For Sally, because she has this explosive start

:12:03. > :12:06.that she works hard into the barriers, it makes a huge difference

:12:07. > :12:10.with the performance and it puts pressure on everybody else because

:12:11. > :12:17.we know deep down that Sally Pearson very rarely makes a mistake. So you

:12:18. > :12:24.can see the two women going hard into these barriers, Sally Pearson

:12:25. > :12:28.would just be able to see Tiffany's lead leg, everything going on around

:12:29. > :12:37.sofa her to keep focus is very important. Both these women, great

:12:38. > :12:40.sprinters, good technicians. Sally Pearson, everything seems nice and

:12:41. > :12:47.calm about her hurdling. Her shoulders don't rock and roll, she

:12:48. > :12:52.takes off strong, she pulls that Trail Lake threw in a straight line,

:12:53. > :12:58.allowing her to run directly off the barrier and into the next one.

:12:59. > :13:02.Tiffany works hard into these barriers, slams down leading leg,

:13:03. > :13:09.pivots of that, she clatters the last hurdle but it wouldn't have

:13:10. > :13:11.made a difference to the result. I think Sally Pearson was happier

:13:12. > :13:18.taking this title than she was winning the Olympic games! We

:13:19. > :13:27.thought she might try and do the flat and heard. All, but she wasn't

:13:28. > :13:35.quite in that kind of shape. A silver in the Commonwealth Games for

:13:36. > :13:39.Tiffany Porter to add to her previous medals. She wasn't quite

:13:40. > :13:45.out there from the start, always chasing Sally Pearson, but there is

:13:46. > :13:51.a reason why Pearson has won the Olympic and world title and the

:13:52. > :13:56.Commonwealth title twice now. She will be slightly disappointed,

:13:57. > :14:02.Tiffany, she could have gone quicker at her best, but this was all about

:14:03. > :14:08.one woman in front, Angela Whyte getting the bronze for Canada. It's

:14:09. > :14:11.an explosion of joy and celebration but relief as well because of all

:14:12. > :14:19.she has gone through in the last few weeks and the focus and attention,

:14:20. > :14:20.for her there is always so much attention from the Australian media

:14:21. > :14:38.because they expect so much. A few minutes ago we were talking

:14:39. > :14:43.about Usain Bolt on how relieved we were that they got the baton round,

:14:44. > :14:49.this is the lead runner, watch this, he pulls a quad muscle and

:14:50. > :14:55.keeps going. He knows that Glasgow expects the Commonwealth Games,

:14:56. > :14:58.wants Usain Bolt, what a great thinker him to do. He told us when

:14:59. > :15:04.he went through, he pulled a quad muscle. He had to get the baton to

:15:05. > :15:11.his team-mate otherwise Usain Bolt would have been standing there

:15:12. > :15:18.feeling cold. So well done to him. All hail him, knew Lord Provost of

:15:19. > :15:28.Glasgow! They should give him some award for valour! At least give him

:15:29. > :15:32.a killed or something! Welborn. -- well done. I am sure Usain Bolt and

:15:33. > :15:38.everybody else will be saying thank you.

:15:39. > :15:49.There was a collective wound, I do not think I have seen anything like

:15:50. > :16:05.that -- a collective who. He gets a really good start. Right

:16:06. > :16:12.there. UCD hitch as he is running. It is amazing. Tell us the pain that

:16:13. > :16:18.he is going to be in, not just them, but right now. When it hits you,

:16:19. > :16:25.when you strain a quad muscle, it is a big muscle. It hits you like

:16:26. > :16:31.somebody just popped you with their fist. That would have been painful.

:16:32. > :16:38.And it shocks you. Your automatic instinct is to stop. We have seen it

:16:39. > :16:47.happen, but nobody has ever gone on! He has laid the rest of the

:16:48. > :16:57.season on the line. That was all about, I need to lock -- not let my

:16:58. > :17:03.team down. It literally is like a bolt of hot pain that sears through

:17:04. > :17:09.your body. Like Michael says, you are thinking, I need to stop, I

:17:10. > :17:15.should stop. Athletes often can be precious about their bodies, but we

:17:16. > :17:18.have seen tonight, with Lindsay Sharp and this example of sheer

:17:19. > :17:24.bravery, when your body is on the line, you will push it. I do not

:17:25. > :17:30.think athletes are precious. They do the sensible things. They get a rap

:17:31. > :17:38.for being aware of everything, compared to some sports. That is

:17:39. > :17:43.because one of the things about this sport, you cannot do it injured.

:17:44. > :17:52.When somebody does... I had that happen to me. In the 1995 World

:17:53. > :17:57.Championships. 1997 World Championships. A quad muscle.

:17:58. > :18:03.Fortunately, I was at the end of the race. He was about 50 metres in. To

:18:04. > :18:10.keep going, that is amazing. He is going to get Glasgow tough man of

:18:11. > :18:16.the year award. And a bonus! I hope Usain Bolt is going to treat him to

:18:17. > :18:25.something. We will not be seeing him tomorrow. Tonight, highlights? For

:18:26. > :18:29.me, Lindsay Sharp. She judged the race to perfection, after everything

:18:30. > :18:36.she has been through. It is a night she will never forget. I have to go

:18:37. > :18:43.with Paula. The emotions were incredible. Happy about Steve Lewis

:18:44. > :18:49.finally getting a gold medal after being so close numerous times. The

:18:50. > :18:55.nine and a half seconds that you saw Usain Bolt? His team-mate,

:18:56. > :19:00.actually! And I am sure the organisers would agree! But to be

:19:01. > :19:04.different, I enjoyed Sally Pearson defending her championship, after

:19:05. > :19:10.what has happened this week, with the controversy. Phillips Idowu has

:19:11. > :19:16.gone through in the triple jump, the qualifying has happened tonight. You

:19:17. > :19:20.will see him tomorrow in the final. It has been another fabulous

:19:21. > :19:25.evening, Gary, you do not see that happen in a lot in football!

:19:26. > :19:30.I wish I could remember! It all starts again in a couple of weeks,

:19:31. > :19:34.and we look forward to it! We will see you tomorrow for the final night

:19:35. > :19:39.of track and field. It was a busy day in boxing, 26 fights, 13

:19:40. > :19:46.semifinals, a lot of ducking and diving. All of them were live on BBC

:19:47. > :19:52.Three earlier, except this one, which will be last on the card. A

:19:53. > :20:01.heavyweight clash between Scotland and New Zealand.

:20:02. > :20:08.The head is robbing again. The Scotsman has to take half a step

:20:09. > :20:17.back to create some space for himself to work. There has hardly

:20:18. > :20:22.been a meaningful punch landed, never mind throne.

:20:23. > :20:31.It will take one good shot to catch the judges' I. You have got to find

:20:32. > :20:43.a bit of room. It is turning very ugly. A good right hand by the New

:20:44. > :20:49.Zealander. The Scotsman got caught. He needs a big finish if he is going

:20:50. > :20:56.to take the second round. On decent punches, it is going to go to the

:20:57. > :21:04.man in blue, though I may be wrong. Again, the heads come together. Is

:21:05. > :21:17.there one decent punch left? And open hand by the New Zealander, but

:21:18. > :21:20.he landed on the head. It is crucial for the New Zealander that he win

:21:21. > :21:25.the second round, to give us a big finish. If the Scotsman wins, he

:21:26. > :21:33.will be able to relax a bit. The Scotsman had a wobble. I will be

:21:34. > :21:38.surprised if the Scotsman has won the round. I thought the New

:21:39. > :21:43.Zealander did the better work. There was not a lot of quality work, but a

:21:44. > :21:50.couple of good shots went in and caught the judges' I. A body shop.

:21:51. > :21:54.That was good. It finished strong, the last 30 seconds, he came on, and

:21:55. > :22:33.he has won the round, for me. It is dead even after two rounds of

:22:34. > :22:40.heavyweight boxing. The man who wanted most will go through to the

:22:41. > :22:59.final. How badly does the Scotsman wanted?

:23:00. > :23:08.That is to little admonitions to Stephen Lavelle. One for leaning on,

:23:09. > :23:29.and one for unnecessary use of the head.

:23:30. > :23:41.Do you hear the crowd? You do not hear a lot. They are aware of the

:23:42. > :23:44.situation they are in. Stephen Lavelle used his reach, and avoided

:23:45. > :23:56.the left hand. This contest is slipping away from

:23:57. > :24:02.Stephen Lavelle, from our vantage point. He has got to start pushing

:24:03. > :24:08.the New Zealander back. That is the most important thing. Pushing him

:24:09. > :24:17.back. That is what David Light is doing, he is making the round until

:24:18. > :24:23.now, the New Zealander. Whoever wins this will need to get a lot of sleep

:24:24. > :24:26.and will need to be totally refreshed, because neither looks as

:24:27. > :24:35.if they will be capable of going three rounds in less than 24 hours.

:24:36. > :24:38.It is all down to this last round. The first round went to the

:24:39. > :24:46.Scotsman, the second went to the kiwi. It is going to take a good

:24:47. > :24:49.shot here from either one of them to learn a bit of quality. A bit of

:24:50. > :25:01.composure now. It clattered into the jaw of the

:25:02. > :25:10.Glaswegian, in front of his home crowd. How decisive war that the?

:25:11. > :25:17.The Scotsman's corner is sending him forward. They are both exhausted.

:25:18. > :25:22.They have battled to a standstill. It has not been pretty, it has been

:25:23. > :25:29.pretty ugly, but I think David Light has done enough. He thinks he has

:25:30. > :25:35.got a victory. The Scotsman's corner is equally confident. I tend to side

:25:36. > :25:39.with the man in blue, I think he did enough.

:25:40. > :25:45.It would not surprise me if they give it to Stephen Lavelle, but I

:25:46. > :25:50.think the man in blue deserves it. I think he wanted it a bit more, he

:25:51. > :25:58.found a bit more quality at the end. We had the aggression from Stephen

:25:59. > :26:06.Lavelle, he kept coming forward. But the better quality shots were from

:26:07. > :26:16.the New Zealander. For me, it tipped the balance in his favour. Even

:26:17. > :26:29.going into the last round, who has won it?

:26:30. > :26:45.Please can we pay tribute to both boxers? The flag is waived, but will

:26:46. > :26:48.it be waived in about 15 seconds? In favour of the winner, through to the

:26:49. > :26:54.heavyweight final, in the blue corner... David Light has got it.

:26:55. > :27:02.New Zealand have a Commonwealth Games finalist. All three judges.

:27:03. > :27:08.We seem to have lost the pictures, but bad luck for Stephen Lavelle. He

:27:09. > :27:13.still gets a bronze medal, so well done to him for that. Let's look at

:27:14. > :27:20.what else is happening in the world of boxing. The Olympic champion

:27:21. > :27:27.Nicola Adams' did to add the Commonwealth title remains on track,

:27:28. > :27:31.she beat her Canadian opponent in their flyweight semifinal today.

:27:32. > :27:36.Standing between her and the title is Michaela Walsh, the highly rated

:27:37. > :27:43.Northern Ireland fighter. She beat her Indian opponent today. We have

:27:44. > :27:47.enjoyed Rhys McCabe and's progress through the early rounds, but the

:27:48. > :27:56.Scottish flyweight was defeated by his Australian opponent. He still

:27:57. > :27:59.picks up a bronze medal. Northern Ireland's and big bronze medallist

:28:00. > :28:03.guaranteed himself at least a Commonwealth silver in the

:28:04. > :28:10.bantamweight category after he beat his Welsh opponent. Fellow Olympic

:28:11. > :28:16.medallist Paddy Barnes qualified for the light flyweight final, by

:28:17. > :28:20.beating his Ugandan opponent. He will bid to defend his Commonwealth

:28:21. > :28:27.title tomorrow in one of 13 gold-medal fights. We can go back to

:28:28. > :28:32.Hampden Park and here from Sally Pearson.

:28:33. > :28:37.Congratulations, another gold-medal and another Commonwealth title, but

:28:38. > :28:41.how much does this one mean, considering everything you have gone

:28:42. > :28:48.through? It means so much. It is hard, having an injury and going

:28:49. > :28:53.into the World Championships and still coming out with a silver

:28:54. > :28:56.medal, and then getting the silver medal in the world indoor

:28:57. > :29:01.Championships again, so it has been tough, but tougher people have come

:29:02. > :29:04.out the other end, just like Jessica Ennis-Hill, she has been through

:29:05. > :29:10.that before, and she has come through in the end the winner. For

:29:11. > :29:15.me, it was about focusing on the things I wanted to do. I came out

:29:16. > :29:23.the winner! The burst of emotion, described it. It was relief. I knew

:29:24. > :29:28.I had one, I did not have to wait at all for my name to come up. That was

:29:29. > :29:33.the biggest relief over. I am so thankful to everybody who has got me

:29:34. > :29:36.through these hard few weeks. I held my head up, I made sure I could be
