:00:48. > :00:54.A very good late Saturday afternoon to you from the finest finishing
:00:55. > :01:01.line anywhere in the world. To the west, and Buckingham Palace and
:01:02. > :01:07.Admiralty march to the East, again host the world-class sporting
:01:08. > :01:11.action. A loop of St James' Park and it features two riders who have
:01:12. > :01:22.history on this bit of tarmac, Marrianne Vos and Lizzie Armitstead.
:01:23. > :01:42.They start the Olympic road race for women, heading down the Mall. Both
:01:43. > :01:48.riders looking for the line, where is the gold medal going? Armitstead
:01:49. > :01:52.gets silver behind Marrianne Vos. I am delighted to say the race is
:01:53. > :01:58.better today that smack the weather is better today. And alongside me is
:01:59. > :02:01.Rochelle Gilmore, former Commonwealth Games champion. And
:02:02. > :02:08.your team are out there today, first of all, different race from 2012,
:02:09. > :02:17.this is a loop, like a criterion. And also because the riders are hear
:02:18. > :02:23.with their professional teams. --criterium four. This will be fast
:02:24. > :02:29.and open. Marrianne Vos, the greatest ever? Without a doubt. So
:02:30. > :02:33.inspirational to watch. She only has one team-mate today but you can
:02:34. > :02:38.guarantee she will be riding into the ground. She makes racing so
:02:39. > :02:44.exciting. She is the favourite but Lizzie Armitstead is in good form,
:02:45. > :02:51.taking Commonwealth title. You were not riding, obviously, in Glasgow. A
:02:52. > :02:57.great ride. Phenomenal, and at the Olympics she had such a perfect day,
:02:58. > :03:03.but in the Commonwealth Games she got her timing right. A lot of
:03:04. > :03:09.satisfied viewers and fans. In terms of her confidence, now she is a
:03:10. > :03:14.champion, you might see an even better rider? I think so, she has
:03:15. > :03:18.that title and she says it is easy to get carried away thinking
:03:19. > :03:24.everybody is here to watch her. But I think we will see more relaxed
:03:25. > :03:31.Lizzie, very approachable and laid-back. And let's not forget last
:03:32. > :03:35.year 's champion, do we believe that Laura is riding for Georgia
:03:36. > :03:41.Bronzini? She will have pressure, she also has a huge fan base in
:03:42. > :03:45.London. She has the cards to play with team-mates like Georgia
:03:46. > :03:51.Bronzini. They are ready to go, with Jill Douglas.
:03:52. > :03:57.To the crowd they received a wonderful reception. Marrianne Vos
:03:58. > :04:00.roundly wearing the rainbow jersey of world champion but here you one
:04:01. > :04:06.new Olympic title a couple of years ago. How does it feel to be back? It
:04:07. > :04:11.is two years ago and of course great to be back on the Mall, seeing
:04:12. > :04:16.Buckingham Palace. Good memories of that Olympic gold. And a couple of
:04:17. > :04:22.weeks ago you one on a very famous boulevard in Paris, what did mean to
:04:23. > :04:33.add to that the night? Both iconic, historic landmarks, in the capital
:04:34. > :04:36.of France and England. Definitely here lining up with these two
:04:37. > :04:38.champions. Best of luck, we move on to Commonwealth champion Lizzie
:04:39. > :04:40.Armitstead, from the pouring rain in Glasgow. And winning silver here in
:04:41. > :04:46.the pouring rain, different weather today and a different race? Very
:04:47. > :04:50.different race. I am here to have a lot of fun and enjoy the crowd.
:04:51. > :04:55.Looking back on those days, a couple of years ago it was a wonderful
:04:56. > :05:00.reception, it is special to ride on your home roads? Very special, as
:05:01. > :05:04.well as Commonwealth Games champion I get to race in front of the Queens
:05:05. > :05:15.house again. And a quick word with Laura, great to have you. What are
:05:16. > :05:18.your faults into this one, how confident are you of retaining your
:05:19. > :05:22.title? Not very, it is a completely different field. Obviously Marrianne
:05:23. > :05:24.Vos and Lizzie have come as well as well as our sprinter, Georgia
:05:25. > :05:30.Bronzini. It will be a race of getting one of our riders to the
:05:31. > :05:36.line instead of just putting it on a specific person. Best of luck. 1.3
:05:37. > :05:40.mile loop of St James' Park awaiting the riders and in the commentary box
:05:41. > :05:44.we have Simon Brotherton. It should be fantastic.
:05:45. > :05:51.Thank you, Jonathan, hello everybody. Almost ready to go with
:05:52. > :05:54.this women's Grand Prix, 100 riders, the biggest ever assembled for a
:05:55. > :05:59.circuit race in the United Kingdom and what a field, as you have just
:06:00. > :06:04.seen, led by the world and Olympic champion Marrianne Vos. Lizzie
:06:05. > :06:09.Armitstead fresh from the Commonwealth Games and Laura Trott,
:06:10. > :06:12.who won this race last year. We also have the two-time world champion
:06:13. > :06:16.Georgia Bronzini. Last year 's national circuit race champion
:06:17. > :06:20.Hannah Barnes and this year 's champion Eileen Roe from Scotland.
:06:21. > :06:28.Britain's most decorated female Paralympic, Sarah Storey, the
:06:29. > :06:32.Australian Tiffany Cromwell, Roxanne Knetemann, team-mate of Marrianne
:06:33. > :06:35.Vos, and look out for Katie Archibald, bronze medallist in the
:06:36. > :06:40.Commonwealth Games points race and prominent in every other event she
:06:41. > :06:45.was in. We have the setting, we have the field, all we need now is the
:06:46. > :06:51.flag to drop and the race will be on. Roughly 45 minutes, in the
:06:52. > :06:55.centre of London. Rather different conditions to that enjoyed by some
:06:56. > :07:00.of the riders last weekend in Glasgow. Lizzie Armitstead there in
:07:01. > :07:03.different colours today, those of her Boels Dolmans team, with the
:07:04. > :07:14.orange sleeves in the middle of the picture. And I think that this field
:07:15. > :07:21.will fairly rapidly be whittled down. HOOTER
:07:22. > :07:26.Difficult circuit to escape on, fast and flats. No hills at all. But I
:07:27. > :07:30.think with some of these riders, the best in the world, they will be
:07:31. > :07:34.looking to make it difficult from the word go and we are expecting a
:07:35. > :07:39.race here in which there are plenty of attacks as riders tried to see if
:07:40. > :07:43.they can get away here in the late afternoon sunshine. Heading towards
:07:44. > :07:50.Buckingham Palace now, the direction the mood takes them before a long
:07:51. > :07:54.bird cage walk and the left hand is turning into horse guards and then
:07:55. > :08:01.left, just before Admiralty arch, back into the Mall and the finish
:08:02. > :08:07.halfway along the Mall. We have our first attack of the race few hundred
:08:08. > :08:12.yards after the start. That is what we predicted, very exciting race. It
:08:13. > :08:16.is flat and fast and fast and does not lend itself to breakaways, but
:08:17. > :08:20.with the atmosphere, so many people cheering them on, I think the
:08:21. > :08:25.motivation of these riders to attack will be very high. Is there a change
:08:26. > :08:30.in professional women's cycling this you, we had the women's Tour in the
:08:31. > :08:37.UK in May, resounding success. Even more successful than the organisers
:08:38. > :08:45.figured it might be. And also with Marrianne Vos, La Course on the same
:08:46. > :08:55.afternoon as the finish of the Tour de France on the Shanxi Lee's a --
:08:56. > :08:58.Champs. Even the athletes were overwhelmed with the attention from
:08:59. > :09:03.the media and fans, very successful event, and a couple of weeks ago,
:09:04. > :09:13.the women's Tour de France event, La Course, another huge moment for
:09:14. > :09:18.women's cycling. The riders make the left-hand turn into horse guards
:09:19. > :09:22.Road. The team-mate of Marrianne Vos on the front, Roxanne Knetemann, she
:09:23. > :09:26.has a big task because Marrianne Vos has flown in with only one
:09:27. > :09:35.team-mate. The likes of Wiggle Honda have plenty of numbers today. Big
:09:36. > :09:46.task. Roxanne Knetemann moving to the fund. Saying we will take
:09:47. > :09:53.control from the start. If there is one rider who does not need help, it
:09:54. > :09:59.will be the world champion. She never turns up to a race just to
:10:00. > :10:03.make an appearance. You are right, they only have two but they have the
:10:04. > :10:09.ambition to win and Marianne Vos is still the one to beat. Everybody
:10:10. > :10:14.asking, how can we beat Marianne Vos? If she comes she wants to win.
:10:15. > :10:27.It is up to the teams to figure out a way to beat her. In the black
:10:28. > :10:30.jerseys with purple on, Sarah Storey and Katie Archibald leading the way
:10:31. > :10:35.for Pearl Izumi. Hayley Jones as well. A number of their riders
:10:36. > :10:40.prominence towards the front of the peloton. We were looking forward to
:10:41. > :10:44.seeing Katie Archibald today but she has had to withdraw, she had a
:10:45. > :10:48.wisdom tooth removed on Tuesday and has not been able to recover in time
:10:49. > :10:53.so not in condition to race today. Sarah Storey is there today,
:10:54. > :11:00.representing the Pearl Izumi sports Tours International team. Still
:11:01. > :11:06.settling down here in the early stages. Very busy day on the Mall,
:11:07. > :11:12.around 50,000 people taking part in the free cycle. Riders still coming
:11:13. > :11:20.through up to an hour before the start of this race. Wonderful
:11:21. > :11:23.atmosphere on the roads. If you live in London, quite something to be
:11:24. > :11:31.riding an empty roads, past the iconic sites. You were out? I got to
:11:32. > :11:35.experience that this morning, thousands of cyclists on closed
:11:36. > :11:39.roads, young kids, just families getting together and enjoying it.
:11:40. > :11:42.Personally it was quite an experience. I could not comprehend
:11:43. > :11:48.what it was but to get out there shoulder to shoulder with young
:11:49. > :11:53.children, families, listening to their conversations, it was quite a
:11:54. > :11:59.buzz. How will the top riders approach this? Is it slow and steady
:12:00. > :12:03.whittling down? I think it will be an exciting attacking race. It is
:12:04. > :12:08.quite calm at the moment. This race is quite short, it is fast and open
:12:09. > :12:11.and a lot of riders do not want a sprint because that is where
:12:12. > :12:15.Marianne Vos has the biggest advantage. It is all about trying to
:12:16. > :12:21.beat her now she has come here with purpose. We see her on the attack,
:12:22. > :12:27.very smart riding to take control and say, I am here to play the game.
:12:28. > :12:31.The race are now, Marianne Vos just a few minutes in, signalling her
:12:32. > :12:35.intent on this brief visit to London. Taking the race by the
:12:36. > :12:39.scruff of the neck and very quickly you will see its strings the race
:12:40. > :12:45.out. They will be in a long thin line behind her. Chasing the world
:12:46. > :12:51.champion. This is why she is so popular, she animates every single
:12:52. > :12:56.race. She won an La Course on the Champs a couple of weeks ago. She
:12:57. > :13:01.had to work very hard for that, she only just one, but then this weekend
:13:02. > :13:11.she won the World Cup in Germany, she is in good form. He has been
:13:12. > :13:17.racing in Holland in the criteriums. These are exciting
:13:18. > :13:23.riders, Lizzie Armitstead winning the Commonwealth Games road race a
:13:24. > :13:30.week ago. Armitstead just firing off the front, she was chased in media
:13:31. > :13:35.to lay by Nicola Juniper from Echelon Roto. Straight onto the
:13:36. > :13:41.wheel. Two of the three biggest names on the front in the first
:13:42. > :13:44.couple of laps. In the sunshine. A good move from Armitstead, she is
:13:45. > :13:50.here without any team-mate. Really brave thing at such a big race
:13:51. > :13:54.against really big teams, she just wants to have fun today. So is she
:13:55. > :14:03.just showing her face of the crowd can see her? She definitely wants to
:14:04. > :14:06.instigate something. Because she has outnumbered she wants a small group
:14:07. > :14:14.at the finish. Rather than in a big bunch by herself. This is Tiffany
:14:15. > :14:20.Cromwell for Specialized Lululemon. Also was in the com wrath games for
:14:21. > :14:24.Australia. Strong road rider, just missed out on a medal in Glasgow.
:14:25. > :14:31.Top ten finishes in classic races this year, ninth in the Tour of
:14:32. > :14:38.Flanders. Such a close friend for the bronze medal last week. She will
:14:39. > :14:44.be devastated. She asked to see the photo finish her she must have
:14:45. > :14:49.thought it was close. With the South African. She will be disappointed to
:14:50. > :14:54.have missed out. It was the right decision but only by millimetres.
:14:55. > :15:00.Such a close race. Considerably less than the width of a tie between the
:15:01. > :15:10.pair of them. Tiffany Cromwell from Australia. -- tyre. Wiggle Honda
:15:11. > :15:21.wants to close things down now the Laura Trott. I think that is United
:15:22. > :15:23.Healthcare. It looks like Hannah Barnes on the front two was the
:15:24. > :15:29.national circuit champion last year, just beaten on the line by Laura
:15:30. > :15:32.Trott in the sprint. Barnes Road for England in the Commonwealth Games
:15:33. > :15:36.last week and did a good job in the early part of the race, the first
:15:37. > :15:40.half in particular, marking some of the early moves on behalf of Lizzie
:15:41. > :15:44.Armitstead. Both she and Lucy Garner filled the role very well. Hannah
:15:45. > :15:47.Barnes dominated the domestic season and couple of years ago before she
:15:48. > :15:51.signed for United Healthcare in the states. There was a big question
:15:52. > :15:56.over whether she would make the transition from being dominant on
:15:57. > :15:58.the domestic scene to being a great international cyclist but the
:15:59. > :16:02.Commonwealth Games performance for Lizzie Armitstead has made people
:16:03. > :16:07.stand up and take notice. She has a huge future on the road. A very
:16:08. > :16:12.mature idea even though she is just 21, Hannah Barnes. A big year for
:16:13. > :16:18.her, based in the US, had a big win early season in Argentina. She has
:16:19. > :16:22.come on a bundle. A little breakaway group, now. That attack was not the
:16:23. > :16:28.show, because she has put pressure on people. She has split up the
:16:29. > :16:33.bunch, managed to pull it away. She looks like she has the national
:16:34. > :16:37.criterium Champion. Eileen Roe on her wheel, the 24-year-old from
:16:38. > :16:41.Fife, in the white jersey and Hannah Barnes in the blue and white in the
:16:42. > :16:45.centre. Great to see Hannah Barnes going on the attack, also because
:16:46. > :16:50.she is known as a sprinter and she is really applying the pressure.
:16:51. > :16:55.This is Eileen Roe, the national champion. There she is. Not fully
:16:56. > :16:59.committed to the move, having a look around to see who is there.
:17:00. > :17:03.Interesting, she gets to where the national champion's jersey because
:17:04. > :17:08.it is the criterium, rather than a road race, otherwise we would see
:17:09. > :17:13.Laura Trott, who recently won the national championship road race,
:17:14. > :17:18.wearing bee stripes. But Eileen Roe is doing the stripes proud. This
:17:19. > :17:21.race has come in a busy period. There is an important race in the
:17:22. > :17:27.winning's calendar as soon as tomorrow. The roots deep France
:17:28. > :17:30.starts tomorrow, so it might only be one crazy athlete, Georgia Bronzini,
:17:31. > :17:34.one of the best sprinters in the world, but the best Wiggle Honda
:17:35. > :17:43.sprinter, and she has come to race this evening. She needs to be in the
:17:44. > :17:46.car going over to France soon after the race we predict she will get
:17:47. > :17:51.there at 3am and will be on the start line at 11am. Georgia
:17:52. > :17:55.Bronzini, number four on her back today, one of the Wiggle Honda
:17:56. > :18:00.riders in the orange and black, the two times women's road race
:18:01. > :18:02.champion, in 2010 and 2011, back-to-back world champion. There
:18:03. > :18:06.is every chance she will figure prominently, the longer this goes
:18:07. > :18:10.on, as one of the key protagonists. It goes to show how important this
:18:11. > :18:13.race has become on the winning's calendar. Georgia Bronzini made
:18:14. > :18:18.history last year, winning six or seven stages straight of the route
:18:19. > :18:22.to France, which starts tomorrow, and she changed her calendar at the
:18:23. > :18:24.last minute to come over here, to either help Laura Trott defend the
:18:25. > :18:27.championship she won last year, or take on the sprint for Wiggle Honda
:18:28. > :18:40.herself. The riders, preparing to head back
:18:41. > :18:50.the mall, once again. Here they come, with 300 metres to go on the
:18:51. > :18:57.end of this latest lap. Controlling the pace. But an attack. Specialized
:18:58. > :19:02.Lululemon, one of the big teams in the race. She finished the Dureau
:19:03. > :19:12.this year, the American rider. -- the gyro. Specialized Lululemon, one
:19:13. > :19:18.of the strongest teams in women's cycling. The American rider, riding
:19:19. > :19:24.for Specialized Lululemon. A decent bunch, one or two beginning to drift
:19:25. > :19:30.off the back. There is Sarah Storey, and she will be riding the
:19:31. > :19:35.RideLondon 100, tomorrow morning. She is off to the world Road
:19:36. > :19:39.championship next week. She is out here, using this as preparation. She
:19:40. > :19:43.says she does not want to get too much in trouble in the bunch. She
:19:44. > :19:47.wants to set off the back or go off the front so we might see how have a
:19:48. > :19:50.go if the bunch sits up. We have certainly seen in the Grand Prix
:19:51. > :19:54.series this summer on the roads Britain that she has performed
:19:55. > :20:00.well, eighth overall. She finished second in the oddly Grand Prix
:20:01. > :20:04.recently to Lizzie Armitstead. Quite a turn of pace in this particular
:20:05. > :20:07.type of racing, as she does in most other types of racing, it must be
:20:08. > :20:13.said, Britain's most decorated female Paralympic athlete. She is
:20:14. > :20:16.not slowing down, so she is determined to break up the bunch and
:20:17. > :20:22.she is a real racer, very exciting to watch. Roxanne Knetemann is there
:20:23. > :20:25.with Marianne Vos, and she was the first to move towards the front of
:20:26. > :20:33.the race on the opening lap. Again, just showing her strength. This is
:20:34. > :20:37.the danger. Here comes the world champion again. Dangerous move, and
:20:38. > :20:42.the bunch as to respond. It is Georgia Bronzini's job to Mark
:20:43. > :20:45.Marianne Vos. She will be following Marianne Vos all day today, to make
:20:46. > :20:49.sure she takes the pressure off the likes of Laura Trott from Wiggle
:20:50. > :20:53.Honda. That is a dangerous move. Georgia Bronzini cannot close the
:20:54. > :20:58.gap. She cannot give up. She has to get there. That is a very strong
:20:59. > :21:02.attack from Marianne Vos. In an ideal world, what would Marianne Vos
:21:03. > :21:06.like at the end of the race? Would she like a small selection or is she
:21:07. > :21:11.bothered because she won a sprint at the Champs-Elysees and she has shown
:21:12. > :21:15.she can win from any situation? That is the thing about Marianne Vos, she
:21:16. > :21:19.can dictate the race. She has taken it into her own hands and she can
:21:20. > :21:23.control this race. She knows she can win on a small bag away or with a
:21:24. > :21:27.big peloton. She will be concerned that the likes of Wiggle Honda have
:21:28. > :21:31.strength in numbers at the finish so she is trying to tie around some
:21:32. > :21:33.legs and she will do that. If any of these riders have to chase down that
:21:34. > :21:39.kind of attack too many times, they will not have any legs left.
:21:40. > :21:42.Bronzini, there, in the black with orange trim and Eileen Roe up there
:21:43. > :21:46.as well, a couple of riders from Specialized Lululemon, but I saw
:21:47. > :21:50.that Hannah Barnes had responded to that moved by Marianne Vos. They
:21:51. > :21:54.come past us now and Hannah Barnes riding on the front with Lizzie
:21:55. > :21:58.Armitstead, followed by Bronzini, and Marianne Vos. I have to say,
:21:59. > :22:03.Hannah Barnes has really impressed me in the last couple of weeks. The
:22:04. > :22:05.ride at the Commonwealth Games was certainly oppressive, for Lizzie
:22:06. > :22:09.Armitstead and now she is setting the pace and putting pressure on
:22:10. > :22:14.other athletes in the peloton. Georgia Bronzini is a determined to
:22:15. > :22:18.stay on the wheel of Marianne Vos. I think this race is entering a new
:22:19. > :22:25.phase. Key riders are coming to the fore. You can see some faces being
:22:26. > :22:28.pulled by the riders. It is not easy out there. This is the damage
:22:29. > :22:33.Marianne Vos can do, when she decides she wants to make it a hard
:22:34. > :22:36.race, she certainly can do that. Beautiful pictures from the
:22:37. > :22:42.helicopter. What an iconic setting for this bike race. More attacks
:22:43. > :22:47.continue to come. Barnes has a little look and decide that it is
:22:48. > :22:52.another attack that she needs to follow, another move she needs to
:22:53. > :22:55.follow. That is the New Zealand criterium national champion, Emily
:22:56. > :22:58.Collins, riding for Wiggle Honda. She has decided she wanted to be a
:22:59. > :23:05.part of this, making the race card. She is not going to let Marianne Vos
:23:06. > :23:07.dictate the race. -- race hard. Collins was another rider involved
:23:08. > :23:17.in the Commonwealth Games in Scotland, only last week. As the
:23:18. > :23:27.race heads along bird cage walk. A move now from Sarah Storey. One of
:23:28. > :23:30.the Pearl Izumi riders. We have not seen Laura Trott at the front yet
:23:31. > :23:39.but she is obviously sensing danger and wants to get amongst it.
:23:40. > :23:48.The peloton, now heading into horse guards Road. Like we said earlier,
:23:49. > :23:52.this course is very difficult to get away because you don't get out of
:23:53. > :23:56.Cyclery quickly. There are long straight, no real technical corners.
:23:57. > :24:04.It lends itself to a big bunch coming back together. It tended into
:24:05. > :24:07.a race that Joanna Rowsell would rather forget, last year, taking a
:24:08. > :24:12.heavy tumble on the back of the course. Wiggle Honda asked her to
:24:13. > :24:15.come again, and she said she was cursed with it, a bit of bad luck
:24:16. > :24:19.last year when she broke her collarbone so she was not confident
:24:20. > :24:25.lining up again. Jo Rowsell was fantastic in the Commonwealth Games,
:24:26. > :24:28.winding the -- winning the individual pursuit gold medal. They
:24:29. > :24:31.come towards the finish again, Emilia Fahlin, one of
:24:32. > :24:36.come towards the finish again, Honda riders, having a look around
:24:37. > :24:46.at the front of the peloton. Wiggle Honda represented by Emily Collins,
:24:47. > :24:53.and Emily Farland. -- Emily Farley and. I think that is... It is
:24:54. > :25:00.Harriet Owen, who makes a move. One of the domestic riders. Third in the
:25:01. > :25:07.Grand Prix series in pita bread, round two. She won the race in 2012.
:25:08. > :25:10.One of those who rock -- who rode in the women's Tour of Britain, a
:25:11. > :25:13.resounding success earlier this year and many of those out there today
:25:14. > :25:18.enjoys the first-ever women's Tour of Britain. Harriet Owen, also a
:25:19. > :25:23.world silver medallist at junior level, four years ago on the track.
:25:24. > :25:31.She got a silver in the scratch race. Tiffany Cromwell did a counter
:25:32. > :25:34.again. There was a question about whether she was riding for Lizzie
:25:35. > :25:38.Armitstead today because they really great friends and they train
:25:39. > :25:42.together in Monaco by Specialized Lululemon have a team so she will be
:25:43. > :25:46.riding for her team, and looking for a result for herself. As we said,
:25:47. > :25:51.Lizzie Armitstead is outnumbered. She's racing for herself, by
:25:52. > :25:54.herself, today. She is right up to the front of the peloton in the
:25:55. > :25:59.White helmets and she has the orange sleeves on her jersey. That is the
:26:00. > :26:03.thing with riding by yourself at a race like this, you can't gamble and
:26:04. > :26:06.sit at the back and let your team-mates cover the moves at the
:26:07. > :26:10.front, you have to ride at the front. She is good at doing that. We
:26:11. > :26:18.saw at the luck was that she marked every move. -- lap course. But she
:26:19. > :26:23.had an horrific accident at high speed in the last kilometre on the
:26:24. > :26:26.Champs-Elysees. Everyone's heart was missing a beat because it was only
:26:27. > :26:31.one week before the Commonwealth Games but she came back from it.
:26:32. > :26:34.Even mentally, to block that out. She's intra Mendis form and she is
:26:35. > :26:38.on the front, Lizzie Armitstead, the Commonwealth Games gold medallist on
:26:39. > :26:42.the road. As she says, this is a different kettle of fish, to the one
:26:43. > :26:46.she was victorious in, in Glasgow last week. Talking to her before the
:26:47. > :26:49.start, she said the thing is she needs to concentrate on the World
:26:50. > :26:52.Championships, which means after winning the Commonwealth Games last
:26:53. > :26:58.week. She needed to take four days off, to have a physical rest. But
:26:59. > :27:02.more importantly, she needed to have a mental rest. She has two big
:27:03. > :27:05.targets, the Commonwealth Games and the World Championships and she
:27:06. > :27:08.cannot afford to peak every weekend. She has to keep this race in
:27:09. > :27:12.perspective. It is easy to get carried away when you have Sony fans
:27:13. > :27:15.on the side of the road that you want to impress. She says she cannot
:27:16. > :27:20.be too hard on herself, she has to be relaxed and race the best she
:27:21. > :27:24.can, but stay focused on her two big targets. Here we go once again. Was
:27:25. > :27:29.that Emily Collins going through at the front, the New Zealander? We
:27:30. > :27:34.will see in a moment. Yes it is one of the Wiggle Honda riders, Collins.
:27:35. > :27:36.She is the New Zealand national champion in this particular
:27:37. > :27:40.discipline which is why her jersey is different to the likes of Laura
:27:41. > :27:46.Trott and Georgia Bronzini. Collins now riding on the front. She is
:27:47. > :27:49.being marked closely. She is a dangerous rider to let go. You can
:27:50. > :27:53.see Lizzie Armitstead's counterattack. She is going to set
:27:54. > :27:58.this race alight. She wants to be a part of it and animate the race and
:27:59. > :28:01.see what she can do. She wants it to break up because she does not want
:28:02. > :28:05.to be outnumbered by 50 women at the finish. She wants to be in a small
:28:06. > :28:09.group of six or seven so she can control the situation. The attacks
:28:10. > :28:12.coming thick and fast but we are nearly 21 minutes into the race and
:28:13. > :28:20.it is still a decent sized peloton, altogether on the road. --
:28:21. > :28:24.altogether. Bronzini had to work very hard when Marianne Vos did that
:28:25. > :28:27.attack. But she will be sitting in. She is the type of sprinter that
:28:28. > :28:31.does not want a particularly hard race, wants to get to the finish
:28:32. > :28:35.with fresh legs. Marianne Vos will know that, and she is the only rider
:28:36. > :28:44.who can take away the victory in the big bunch sprint. Georgia Bronzini
:28:45. > :28:48.as one win, at the Giro is a Marianne Vos does not want to go to
:28:49. > :28:55.the finish with her. A good work-out for Sarah seven, as we head back
:28:56. > :28:58.towards the front end of the race. Talking to Guy Elliott, one of the
:28:59. > :29:05.organisers of this fabulous event, who also organises the women's Tour,
:29:06. > :29:07.he said it was difficult to get Marianne Vos to come to this race
:29:08. > :29:14.simply because she had orally committed to training with 13 --
:29:15. > :29:18.already committed to training with her team in Belgium this morning.
:29:19. > :29:22.The organisers flew her here in a private jet. That is how important
:29:23. > :29:25.for women cycling it was that she was here. She has trained with her
:29:26. > :29:29.team in Belgium this morning and then got on a private jet and flew
:29:30. > :29:33.in. She arrived one hour before the start. It is great to see that kind
:29:34. > :29:41.of commitment. She wants to support the race and she has scheduled it,
:29:42. > :29:45.as difficult as it is, she is here. It was some race, the Olympics two
:29:46. > :29:50.years ago, awful weather conditions but in a way that added to the whole
:29:51. > :29:55.event, it was an exciting race and as we remember it came down to a
:29:56. > :30:00.sprint, splashing along The Mall, Lizzie Armitstead and Marianne Vos.
:30:01. > :30:04.Sarah Storey really doing a good turnout the front of the bunch.
:30:05. > :30:09.Great to see, she said before the start I do not want to finish this
:30:10. > :30:18.race, my ambition is to hurt myself so much that I am unable to finish.
:30:19. > :30:23.That is her ambition, inspiring. Looking at her face she is on the
:30:24. > :30:30.way. Interesting approach. She wants to use the crowd to lift herself and
:30:31. > :30:36.get that intense training session. She is emptying every ounce of power
:30:37. > :30:41.and energy she has. Great to see Sarah Storey on the front of the
:30:42. > :30:45.bunch, 23 minutes into this women's race. World champion in third place.
:30:46. > :30:52.Rebecca Rimmington from Merlin Cycles in second place. Few little
:30:53. > :31:00.groups of riders being spat out the back of the peloton. Laura Cheesman
:31:01. > :31:06.on the back at the moment. And there we are at the front of the race with
:31:07. > :31:11.Sarah Storey once more. Definitely in fine form going into the World
:31:12. > :31:16.Championship. Not easy to sit on this type of peloton and set a pace
:31:17. > :31:21.like that. How fabulous to see the pain she can enjoy. Fantastic season
:31:22. > :31:27.this year on the road, winning a time trial in France, just a month
:31:28. > :31:32.ago. Quite impressive to see her in the able-bodied competition winning
:31:33. > :31:36.races at international level. Marianne Vos in third place, the
:31:37. > :31:42.world champion looking comfortable. Not often we see her in trouble. I
:31:43. > :31:46.saw her under pressure at the women's Giro d'Italia this year when
:31:47. > :31:50.Emma Pooley went off the front and could have been riding into the
:31:51. > :31:56.jersey, Marianne Vos under pressure. She normally has a strong Rabobank
:31:57. > :32:03.team around Herbert she looks very comfortable today with only one
:32:04. > :32:10.macro team-mate. Dash around her but. She has done cyclo-cross,
:32:11. > :32:15.mountain biking, she wins the lot. Nikki Harris on the far side. She
:32:16. > :32:19.said she will describe this race as being" you might guess, Nikki
:32:20. > :32:25.Harris, she says it is like a cyclo-cross race. She is using it as
:32:26. > :32:31.preparation for her cyclo-cross season. When we look at Marianne
:32:32. > :32:35.Vos, we think OK, Marianne Vos and Nikki Harris our competitors in
:32:36. > :32:40.cyclo-cross and they are finding it very comfortable because it is their
:32:41. > :32:43.type of race. Good timing, we mentioned cyclo-cross and are seen
:32:44. > :32:48.as off-road was mentioned Nikki Harris went to the front. Easing off
:32:49. > :32:55.slightly, in the yellow and blue. Cromwell again, she never runs out
:32:56. > :32:59.of batteries, Energizer Bunny. Not the first time we have seen her at
:33:00. > :33:05.the front, Lizzie Armitstead riding on the front. This is a group of
:33:06. > :33:10.four favourites, five favourites, this could be dangerous. I do not
:33:11. > :33:16.think you will see any cooperation from the likes of Laura Trott.
:33:17. > :33:24.Hannah Barnes in blue and white. Laura Trott in orange and black, she
:33:25. > :33:27.is there. This is a good move for Wiggle Honda with Laura Trott and
:33:28. > :33:35.Collins. Marianne Vos has missed this. It will come back in all
:33:36. > :33:41.likelihood. It looks promising for a moment. Laura Trott on the front, as
:33:42. > :33:44.we head for the race, she was not in top form. Certainly physically in
:33:45. > :33:48.Glasgow she was unwell, but still found a way to win when it came to
:33:49. > :33:53.the women's points race on the track. It came down to the final
:33:54. > :33:57.sprint. She finished in the end of level on points with one of her
:33:58. > :34:04.team-mates, but took the gold medal on counts back. She was level with
:34:05. > :34:08.Elinor Barker, very exciting. To know where she had come from that
:34:09. > :34:13.week, Laura was very ill, not able to eat leading up to the event. She
:34:14. > :34:18.wanted the gold medal, she wanted the common wealth games title. She
:34:19. > :34:23.had to reach really deep. She managed it and that is the true
:34:24. > :34:27.championship is. Of course she was not a team-mate on Monday, Elinor
:34:28. > :34:32.Barker, riding for Wales. The team-mates the rest of the year.
:34:33. > :34:36.Elinor Barker had an excellent Commonwealth Games. Very unlucky in
:34:37. > :34:43.the points race. Still lots of riders in this peloton. Bronzini in
:34:44. > :34:49.second place at the moment. Stalker on the front, from Specialized
:34:50. > :34:55.Lululemon. They realise they have a bit of a break. Bronzini putting
:34:56. > :34:59.some pressure on the pedals. That is not like her unless it looks like a
:35:00. > :35:03.promising break Bert stalker must have put some daylight between the
:35:04. > :35:08.group and the peloton because that is the only reason Georgia Bronzini
:35:09. > :35:15.would be putting the pressure on. As you can see, Bronzini stringing the
:35:16. > :35:21.peloton out. In the back of her mind she knows she has to travel the
:35:22. > :35:26.night. Stage 1 in France and 11am tomorrow. It's the cold yesterday to
:35:27. > :35:35.travel from Italy. It goes to show how important a race like this is.
:35:36. > :35:43.Sarah Storey has done a big turnout the fund. Peter Mullins from
:35:44. > :35:48.Australia for Wiggle Honda. She was in the Congo games on the mountain
:35:49. > :35:56.bikes. -- Peta Mullins. -- Commonwealth Games. She was in the
:35:57. > :36:00.women's Tour of Britain in May. Very heavy road programme to prepare for
:36:01. > :36:04.the Commonwealth Games mountain bikes, very unfortunate she had
:36:05. > :36:08.mechanicals. She will have to focus for the World Championship mountain
:36:09. > :36:16.bike race. Back into the mall, nearly half an hour gone in this
:36:17. > :36:21.race. Like you said it will come down to a bunch sprint, it very
:36:22. > :36:26.difficult to get away, still a significant number of riders left in
:36:27. > :36:30.this race. They come up to the line one more time, the white jersey is
:36:31. > :36:36.the national circuit race champions jersey, Eileen Roe. The other rider
:36:37. > :36:41.we saw was Hannah Walker. In the purple and white. Very popular
:36:42. > :36:46.rider, she will probably want to show her face. Everybody knows her
:36:47. > :36:52.face from the Adidas advert, if you Google YouTube Adidas that is who
:36:53. > :37:00.you will say. Walker in the middle of the picture. -- you will see.
:37:01. > :37:05.This will come down to a bunch meant, couple of riders trying to
:37:06. > :37:10.stay out of the wind. As you can see, the leaves are moving around,
:37:11. > :37:20.quite breezy. These riders have a little gap. Riding around at the
:37:21. > :37:26.back of the peloton. Sarah Storey still tagging on the back. As they
:37:27. > :37:34.head now into bird cage walk once again. And despite various riders
:37:35. > :37:40.having a look it has been impossible so far for anyone to form the
:37:41. > :37:45.breakaway. This is a great move, digging really deep, you can see she
:37:46. > :37:51.has the Swedish National championship stripes on her sleeves.
:37:52. > :37:57.Emilia Fahlin. She still has the knot of wearing the Swedish National
:37:58. > :38:02.stripes. She rides a big gear, very strong rider. National champion on
:38:03. > :38:07.the road and in the road time trial. She has opened up a gap as you can
:38:08. > :38:11.see, the first of the race. Emilia Fahlin, the bits like Joanna
:38:12. > :38:17.Rowsell, once she gets gay going she keeps on going. She looks so strong.
:38:18. > :38:23.Definitely very strong rider, taking some motivation from seeing the gap
:38:24. > :38:27.behind her. Two lead riders behind her in the peloton in Laura Trott
:38:28. > :38:32.and Georgia Bronzini. This will be the end of her race. She will either
:38:33. > :38:39.stay away or end up pulling out but this is what Wiggle Honda wanted.
:38:40. > :38:43.Marianne Vos wanted this. She will have to take up the chase. Marianne
:38:44. > :38:50.Vos having to do all the work in the white jersey with the rainbow world
:38:51. > :38:54.champions jersey. Leading the chase. Emilia Fahlin potentially
:38:55. > :38:59.drawing some of the sting from the world champion, making her do some
:39:00. > :39:03.work. One of the other Wiggle Honda riders, Georgia Bronzini, on her
:39:04. > :39:09.wheel. This is a little group, Lizzie Armitstead chases the latest
:39:10. > :39:13.attack on the left-hand side of the screen, is that Tiffany Cromwell
:39:14. > :39:17.again? She is having a fantastic race. She thrives on crowds like
:39:18. > :39:23.this. She loves this type of atmosphere. One of her best friends,
:39:24. > :39:27.Lizzie Armitstead. They will be trying to do each other favours.
:39:28. > :39:31.Great move by Wiggle Honda and Amy Roberts now in that little
:39:32. > :39:36.breakaway. Not much of a gap. As you said hopefully that took a bit of a
:39:37. > :39:40.sting out of Marianne Vos so some other riders have a chance. In
:39:41. > :39:46.theory it should have but in reality it is very difficult to tire her
:39:47. > :39:52.legs. The gap is very small, the chase is on. Inside the last five
:39:53. > :39:55.laps of the race. They can really starts to put the hammer down as
:39:56. > :40:03.they know the end is in sight. Will it be cagey? Five laps to go, a lot
:40:04. > :40:08.of riders will want an opportunity but it has been a hard race because
:40:09. > :40:14.there has been a lot of attacking. Emily Collins once more, Marianne
:40:15. > :40:17.Vos onto her wheel. Eileen Roe tries to get onto the coat tails, British
:40:18. > :40:24.champion. Lizzie Armitstead up there again. In great form, she has had an
:40:25. > :40:28.excellent year for Boels Dolmans. You mention that she is leading the
:40:29. > :40:34.World Cup, but she has been strong throughout the year. As Specialized
:40:35. > :40:39.Lululemon come to the front. Tiffany Cromwell again, very popular rider.
:40:40. > :40:43.It is for this very reason, she never gives up. Amy Roberts, with
:40:44. > :40:49.her. In fantastic form. Amy is very young. Just really letting people
:40:50. > :40:55.know who she is. She was strong in the Commonwealth Games. I think she
:40:56. > :41:00.surprised a few people and she was in the race for longer than
:41:01. > :41:05.expected, not her type of the rain. Fantastic job. Keep an eye on Amy
:41:06. > :41:10.Roberts, 19 years of age. 13th in the road race last week in the end
:41:11. > :41:15.but third in the Grand Prix series this summer. She won the race in
:41:16. > :41:26.Vidic, she has form in this type of race. -- Redditch. Roxanne Knetemann
:41:27. > :41:32.on the front, very famous name, her father Jerry sadly no longer
:41:33. > :41:39.witness, former world champion, winning in 1978 at the Nurnberg
:41:40. > :41:45.ring. Much decorated Dutch cyclist. These cyclists being lapped,
:41:46. > :41:48.Knetemann feeling the pressure now, the only support rider for Marianne
:41:49. > :41:54.Vos, she will be up against the likes of Armitstead, Trott,
:41:55. > :41:59.Bronzini. Really exciting sprint. It looks like that is where we are
:42:00. > :42:06.heading, some of the backmarkers and they're being lapped. Armitstead on
:42:07. > :42:10.the right of Knetemann as we look. Tucked in and around two riders
:42:11. > :42:14.behind Armitstead. Out of sight at the moment the rainbow jersey of
:42:15. > :42:20.world champion Marianne Vos. She is the one they will all be looking for
:42:21. > :42:24.at the end of this race. A few nervous riders because of the size
:42:25. > :42:32.of this peloton. The likes of Marianne Vos and her team-mate
:42:33. > :42:36.Knetemann do not no wall of the local riders. Wiggle Honda covering
:42:37. > :42:46.that moves again. Another attack from the front of the peloton. Keira
:42:47. > :42:53.McVitty for WyndyMilla. WyndyMilla Reynolds. Launching that attack
:42:54. > :43:00.halfway down the Mall, swiftly closed down. Emily Collins in third
:43:01. > :43:05.place in the black and white. Fifth in line is Lizzie Armitstead. These
:43:06. > :43:10.riders will be taking deep breaths, Emily Collins applying the pressure.
:43:11. > :43:16.She wants to make it hard in the spring. She has the Lululemon team,
:43:17. > :43:20.bit of a tongue twister. Specialized Lululemon, one of the strongest
:43:21. > :43:25.teams in the world, they have covered that move of Emily Collins.
:43:26. > :43:29.Who should we be looking for from the Specialized Lululemon seen in a
:43:30. > :43:34.sprint? If it comes down to the sprint they have not got much of a
:43:35. > :43:38.chance which is why they are working so hard. Tiffany Cromwell is quite
:43:39. > :43:42.asked herself. As you see she has done a lot of work in this race.
:43:43. > :43:45.They have played their cards of trying to get the breakaway but it
:43:46. > :43:51.has not worked, it will be difficult for them to finish on the podium.
:43:52. > :43:54.Marianne Vos won the women's Tour here in May, she also won three
:43:55. > :44:00.stages of the race. Very dominant performance. Lizzie Armitstead
:44:01. > :44:04.feeling unwell going into the final day, unable to finish the race. As
:44:05. > :44:09.we mentioned she has had an excellent season. And here we go,
:44:10. > :44:14.Wiggle Honda on the attack. It will be an exciting finish, it has to be
:44:15. > :44:19.Marianne Vos closing everything down, clear indication she wants to
:44:20. > :44:24.win this race. She is taking everything into her own hands. She
:44:25. > :44:27.will cover every single move. Quite capable of doing that and still
:44:28. > :44:31.winning the sprint, that is why she has been named as the most
:44:32. > :44:37.successful and talented women cyclist in the history of women's
:44:38. > :44:42.cycling. At the moment for Wiggle Honda? I think that is the Swedish
:44:43. > :44:46.national champion. Emilia Fahlin, she has had a great race covering
:44:47. > :44:53.things. Roberts coming into the picture now. That is the rider in
:44:54. > :44:57.the purple. An attack from Amy Roberts as we were speaking about
:44:58. > :45:01.her, it is a really good move. We have not seen that much of a gap
:45:02. > :45:10.today. Very swift move from Amy Roberts. Just opening up a little
:45:11. > :45:18.bit of a gap here. Some hesitation behind saying she will have to carry
:45:19. > :45:21.on with this. She Has Got One Of The Stronger Teams Here. They Are Taking
:45:22. > :45:29.Matters Into Their Own Hands But There Is A Bit Of Hesitation In The
:45:30. > :45:40.Peloton. A Couple Of Riders, There, Hannah Ormesher. Marianne Vos Has
:45:41. > :45:44.Had To Take Up The Case Again, because she is the favourite. It
:45:45. > :45:49.can't be easy when everyone is expecting you to win every time you
:45:50. > :45:54.sit on your bike but she delivers, time and again. She is right in the
:45:55. > :45:59.thick of it, as expected. Lizzie Armitstead, right on Marianne Vos'
:46:00. > :46:03.wheel. The world champion, just closing down the gap to the front
:46:04. > :46:07.with the Lizzie Armitstead in third place. It looked as though it might
:46:08. > :46:11.be Bronzini and forth, just behind Armitstead. I am sure it is the
:46:12. > :46:15.Italian who should not be discounted yet at the race. She finished 11th
:46:16. > :46:20.in the spread in the Champs-Elysees. Not a particularly
:46:21. > :46:26.good they could Georgia Bronzini, then, it was one of her targets but
:46:27. > :46:32.she got through the Jared Italia and decided to have a break -- the Giro
:46:33. > :46:36.d'Italia decided to have a break. Emily Collins, again, here, who has
:46:37. > :46:43.been very active today. Collins, really digging in on the front.
:46:44. > :46:47.Pushing, driving on. She is such a small rider but so strong on the
:46:48. > :46:50.flat. She is very handy in the sprint as well but she won't be
:46:51. > :46:54.thinking about that today. She's just trying to put pressure on
:46:55. > :46:58.Marianne Vos to set it up to Laura Trott or Georgia Bronzini. A small
:46:59. > :47:07.rider Budgie has a decent. Emily Collins won a classic last year, a
:47:08. > :47:13.big race on the women's calendar. -- but she has a big engine. She has
:47:14. > :47:16.had a painting schedule since last weekend at the Commonwealth Games,
:47:17. > :47:20.back home and then back here on Friday, so a hectic travel schedule
:47:21. > :47:25.between the two races in Glasgow and here in London. It is looking a bit
:47:26. > :47:30.late for anyone to make a move and get away. Tiffany Cromwell will not
:47:31. > :47:35.give up yet. On the right of your screen, Emilia Fahlin, these former
:47:36. > :47:39.Swedish national champion, putting pressure and Tiffany Cromwell from
:47:40. > :47:42.Specialized Lululemon tried to come across. The Swede and the Australian
:47:43. > :47:47.and I think we have just seen Lizzie Armitstead jump out of the pack.
:47:48. > :47:49.Maybe now the race will break up a bit. You can see Emilia Fahlin is
:47:50. > :47:54.going right into the red, making this move. She does turn a big ear
:47:55. > :47:59.as she comes out of the corner. Anyone would have said the last time
:48:00. > :48:03.she made the move that it was the end of her for today Budgie has back
:48:04. > :48:12.to do it again. Roxanne Knetemann coming across. This could be a break
:48:13. > :48:16.break. It is the Rabo-Liv rider we were not expecting at the front of
:48:17. > :48:18.it there, now, Emilia Fahlin leading the way with Roxanne Knetemann and
:48:19. > :48:22.also Tiffany Cromwell and then leading the rest of them over the
:48:23. > :48:26.line, Nicola Juniper. Hannah Barnes did a lot of work to bring that back
:48:27. > :48:30.but did not really close the gap. They still have a bit of a gap and a
:48:31. > :48:34.bit of hesitation but Tiffany Cromwell is not stopping today.
:48:35. > :48:38.Cromwell, not interested in sitting up. She will continue with the move
:48:39. > :48:42.now she realises that it looks as though they will come back together.
:48:43. > :48:48.Emilia Fahlin, just easing off on the front of the race. It looks like
:48:49. > :48:52.there was a bit of confusion. They thought they had been caught but
:48:53. > :48:56.then they realised the peloton was going to leave them for a bit
:48:57. > :49:02.longer. Tiffany Cromwell says, "I have come too far now, I have two
:49:03. > :49:05.MTV tank". Cromwell did not need asking twice but they are
:49:06. > :49:08.freewheeling and looking around so it looks as though the breakaway
:49:09. > :49:13.will not gain any time. Sarah Storey come on the left of the screen. She
:49:14. > :49:16.has done a great job to hang on. It has been a very hard race because
:49:17. > :49:21.they have not sat up and taking a breather much. It looks like Hannah
:49:22. > :49:25.Barnes has taken up a lot of the responsibility to bring back the
:49:26. > :49:30.chasing pack. This is Roxanne Knetemann in the orange and white,
:49:31. > :49:36.and in the black-and-white, in the centre, Tiffany Cromwell but with
:49:37. > :49:39.the peloton coming back together, Cromwell will need a good half a
:49:40. > :49:43.minute to get her breath back before she launches yet another attack,
:49:44. > :49:48.knowing her. Lizzie Armitstead, very vigilant towards the front and here
:49:49. > :50:00.comes another attack on the inside. One of the riders from Matrix,
:50:01. > :50:06.swiftly chased down. Marianne Vos is in third place now. She does an
:50:07. > :50:09.amazing job to get a self-imposed after she has been under a bit of
:50:10. > :50:13.pressure. She would have taken a few deep breaths and getting closer to
:50:14. > :50:17.the finish will be inspiring and motivating for her. She is heavily
:50:18. > :50:21.marked by Georgia Bronzini. Can Bronzini take the victory? Marianne
:50:22. > :50:25.Vos is the clear favourite and everyone will be surprised if she
:50:26. > :50:33.gets beaten. A lot of looking around. Emily Collins applying more
:50:34. > :50:37.pressure. Their areas a fair gap. -- there is a fair gap. She has got
:50:38. > :50:40.something left after a very hard race Budgie has made a good move.
:50:41. > :50:44.Marianne Vos is looking around and you can't afford to do that. She has
:50:45. > :50:52.decided to take up the chase once again. Here we come, now, from Horse
:50:53. > :50:59.Guards Parade, into the mall, once more and it is Emily Collins leading
:51:00. > :51:03.the way. -- into The Mall. Collins leading the way and Marianne Vos
:51:04. > :51:06.stalking her every move, Bronzini on how will and Armitstead in fourth
:51:07. > :51:10.place and it looks like Laura Trott is perhaps in fifth place. We have
:51:11. > :51:15.not seen much of her today. She might have something left in the
:51:16. > :51:21.legs. Emily Collins, Marianne Vos, Bronzini. What a final lap this is
:51:22. > :51:25.going to be, as they take the bell. We have seen the favourites doing
:51:26. > :51:29.all the work all the big names but will we see one of the riders we
:51:30. > :51:32.have not seen yet on podium? Peta Mullins, the Australian mountain
:51:33. > :51:38.bike rider, having one last little bit. What a turn of pace from Peta
:51:39. > :51:40.Mullins as she heads towards Buckingham Palace, getting ready to
:51:41. > :51:44.make the left-hand turn in front of the Fountain, just gaining a bit of
:51:45. > :51:47.ground, which is foreshortened slightly by the camera angle but
:51:48. > :51:51.there can be no more than a couple of seconds in it at most. Roxanne
:51:52. > :51:57.Knetemann leads the chase. She is working so hard for her team leader,
:51:58. > :51:59.the only other rider from her team here today, Marianne Vos. Lizzie
:52:00. > :52:04.Armitstead has looked comfortable in this race, I have to say, all the
:52:05. > :52:08.way through. She showed her face at the front early on and any time
:52:09. > :52:12.anyone has made a move, she has been there or thereabouts without having
:52:13. > :52:16.to do too much work. This is an exciting finish. These are the best
:52:17. > :52:20.riders in the world, coming over to the UK for this race. This could be
:52:21. > :52:24.taking place anywhere in the world because all the big names are at the
:52:25. > :52:32.front. Peta Mullins with a strong attack. She is managing to hold the
:52:33. > :52:36.pace. We have seen and other Wiggle Honda rider, Amy Roberts. The
:52:37. > :52:42.19-year-old from Wales, now the front of the race, in the very last
:52:43. > :52:48.lap of the Prix. She has still got to hitch up the leg of her shorts.
:52:49. > :52:52.She has got something there, just in case. But Wiggle Honda, definitely
:52:53. > :52:55.putting pressure on the likes of Marianne Vos and Roxanne Knetemann.
:52:56. > :53:01.Lizzie Armitstead is getting the free ride, being very patient. What
:53:02. > :53:06.a sprint this is likely to be as they head towards The Mall. Amy
:53:07. > :53:11.Roberts leading the way. Not much in it. Inside the last kilometre of the
:53:12. > :53:15.race. She is going to give it everything she has possibly got. You
:53:16. > :53:19.can see Marianne Vos' team-mate on the front, Roxanne Knetemann, who
:53:20. > :53:23.came here with a very big task and she is doing everything she can for
:53:24. > :53:27.her team-mate, to set her up. Marianne Vos can probably win from
:53:28. > :53:31.here. She has to be the clear favourite. Amy Roberts on the front
:53:32. > :53:35.and Roxanne Knetemann leading the way, the British National circuit
:53:36. > :53:38.race champion Eileen Roe is still there, and Tiffany Cromwell and
:53:39. > :53:43.Lizzie Armitstead in third place. Bronzini, the Italian, now, as they
:53:44. > :53:47.come into the finishing straight. Amy Roberts is dying a thousand
:53:48. > :53:51.deaths in the lead as they chase her down. Eileen Roe makes the move past
:53:52. > :53:55.Roberts. Coming to the centre is Lizzie Armitstead but here comes the
:53:56. > :53:59.world champion, Marianne Vos hits the front! Bronzini tries to follow
:54:00. > :54:02.her on the wheel, Eileen Roe in third, Armitstead in fourth at the
:54:03. > :54:08.moment and here they come, Bronzini leading the way to the line! It was
:54:09. > :54:12.such a close finish! Georgia Bronzini, from Italy, the Wiggle
:54:13. > :54:18.Honda rider, in a photo finish with Marianne Vos, the world champion, as
:54:19. > :54:22.they came hurtling down The Mall. What a sprint for the line. That was
:54:23. > :54:29.an unbelievable sprint. Ron Deeney left a late run -- Bronzini left. It
:54:30. > :54:35.was so close, a photo finish. We have to find out -- to wait to find
:54:36. > :54:39.out who has taken the RideLondon Grand Prix 2014. It looked like
:54:40. > :54:43.Georgia Bronzini to me, not by much but I think the Italian has snatched
:54:44. > :54:47.victory. We will wait for the replay. There is Georgia Bronzini,
:54:48. > :54:51.twice the world road race champion, who was watching the moves all the
:54:52. > :54:55.way. She was sticking on Marianne Vos' wheel and she made her move at
:54:56. > :55:00.the right time. That was Eileen Roe on the left-hand side. Chase down
:55:01. > :55:03.immediately by Marianne Vos and Lizzie Armitstead is in the orange
:55:04. > :55:08.with the black stripe in the middle. Georgia Bronzini, has she got the
:55:09. > :55:13.legs to overhaul Marianne Vos? She certainly had the speed at the vital
:55:14. > :55:16.moment of the sprint, as they came over the line. Georgia Bronzini
:55:17. > :55:21.takes the victory by half a bike length. That is a stunning victory.
:55:22. > :55:26.Here we go again. Marianne Vos, when she normally hits the front, that is
:55:27. > :55:30.the last that anyone sees of her. But Georgia Bronzini, with one stage
:55:31. > :55:38.win in the Giro d'Italia this year, winds in London. For her, that was a
:55:39. > :55:40.spectacular success. Her sprint was timed to perfection. She was some
:55:41. > :55:44.distance back but it was all about the timing of the sprint and the
:55:45. > :55:47.timing for her was absolutely right. It is not very often we see the
:55:48. > :55:52.world champion beaten but we have seen her beaten here today, not by
:55:53. > :55:56.much but a Google bit was enough. Georgia Bronzini, the double world
:55:57. > :55:59.champion, is the winner, and Marianne Vos takes second place, and
:56:00. > :56:06.Lizzie Armitstead over the line in third, with Eileen Roe in fourth,
:56:07. > :56:07.and Laura Trott in fifth place. Just waiting for official confirmation of
:56:08. > :56:24.the result. Tiffany Cromwell attacked so many
:56:25. > :56:30.times, was still involved in this print at the end. -- in the sprint.
:56:31. > :56:31.I think we can go down to the roadside, with Jill Douglas, who has
:56:32. > :56:45.got the winner. Just waving to the crowds and that
:56:46. > :56:48.was a beautifully timed sprint. It was an amazing race and I'm really
:56:49. > :56:51.excited because the last time I was here was the Olympic Games and I was
:56:52. > :56:57.a bit unlucky in that race and the day, I really wanted to win in this
:56:58. > :57:01.beautiful city. They have welcomed us. I really wanted it. A very
:57:02. > :57:06.aggressive race right from the beginning but the team worked very
:57:07. > :57:15.hard. I asked my team to show how women's cycling is. We often power.
:57:16. > :57:21.-- we are full of power and we have nothing less than the men. It was a
:57:22. > :57:26.beautiful show for the people. There was some amazing chasing. It was
:57:27. > :57:31.really beautiful. You have taken a couple of big scalps today. Yes,
:57:32. > :57:36.sure. Enjoy it, thank you for joining us.
:57:37. > :57:40.Brilliant performance from Georgia Bronzini add a happy team manager
:57:41. > :57:45.alongside me. She said she was full of power, like a man. What an
:57:46. > :57:47.amazing ride. It was phenomenal, she had to rely on her Wiggle Honda
:57:48. > :57:51.team-mates and we saw a very professional race. The way it played
:57:52. > :57:55.out, they had to put Marianne Vos under pressure and every Wiggle
:57:56. > :57:58.Honda rider had to ride at their peak. They peaked for this race, a
:57:59. > :58:05.very important race on our calendar, being British based. To manage to
:58:06. > :58:09.win today's fabulous. A long journey for her tomorrow, well, today. She
:58:10. > :58:12.is under pressure to be out of here in the next half-hour because she
:58:13. > :58:16.has to get to a remote place in France will be start of the route.
:58:17. > :58:24.She will travel in her hotel at -- to be at her hotel at 4am and she
:58:25. > :58:29.will be on the start line at 11am. We are back tomorrow, with
:58:30. > :58:33.RideLondon. Look out for Sir Bradley Wiggins and Philip Gilbert in the
:58:34. > :58:37.men's race. But that is it from The Mall where Marianne Vos, the
:58:38. > :58:40.greatest women's cyclist ever was just pipped by Georgia Bronzini. We
:58:41. > :58:44.will see you tomorrow. Thank you for your company. Goodbye.
