:01:46. > :01:52.credential RideLondon. It is a glorious day. -- Prudential. The

:01:52. > :01:57.Mall is looking resplendent. Welcome back to our coverage of what is the

:01:58. > :02:02.UK's largest ever cycling Festival. This weekend, two wheels have ruled

:02:02. > :02:07.the streets of London. He has a flavour of what has been going on.

:02:07. > :02:12.It all kicked off yesterday morning with the FreeCycle. 50,000 riders of

:02:12. > :02:21.all ages and abilities on an eight mile traffic free rate in the heart

:02:21. > :02:23.of London. In the evening, the focus switched to a dramatic race that

:02:23. > :02:28.featured the gold-medal queens of Laura Trott, Dani King and Joanna

:02:28. > :02:36.Rowsell. This morning it was the turn of 20,000 amateur riders to

:02:36. > :02:41.take on the London-Surrey 100. As we speak, the professional cyclists are

:02:41. > :02:47.right on the same roads in the London-Surrey Classic. Peter Sagan

:02:47. > :02:53.and David Millar among the star names to the code for. There were a

:02:54. > :03:01.few star names in the Forces Together. -- in the London-Surrey

:03:01. > :03:08.100. Boris Johnson flew through innate and four minutes. Well done.

:03:08. > :03:13.Afterwards, he spoke to Jill Douglas. Congratulations. We saw

:03:13. > :03:19.lots of medals presented last year. How does it feel to get this one?

:03:19. > :03:23.Unbelievable. It was extraordinary. I was overtaken solidly for about

:03:23. > :03:28.four hours, and then in the last bit, once we had done the hill, I

:03:28. > :03:34.was starting to overhaul some people. A few 60-year-old man, and a

:03:34. > :03:39.few children. It is-year-old women were soaring past me. It was a

:03:39. > :03:46.wonderful experience. Maybe not the chiselled whippet that we spoke

:03:46. > :03:51.about. The sculptor has yet to find the whippet within. The crowds have

:03:51. > :03:57.been incredible. All the riders have spoken about the amazing atmosphere.

:03:57. > :04:04.How hard is it out there? The truth is, it is not that hard, and that is

:04:04. > :04:10.why I'm here to prove that. I am 17 stone, I am by no means fit, and I

:04:10. > :04:15.got myself around that course. It was a perfectly respectable time.

:04:15. > :04:20.Not supersonic, but respectable. The message we are trying to get over is

:04:20. > :04:27.this is for everybody. We hope that this will be the first of many

:04:27. > :04:36.cycling celebrations in London. you punch at one point? Yes, I want

:04:36. > :04:43.to thank Mark. He was brilliant. It was a stunning thing. Who would have

:04:43. > :04:50.thought that study -- that Surrey could be so beautiful? It was a

:04:50. > :04:54.knockout. Boris needs to get out of London a bit more. Rob Hayles

:04:54. > :05:00.alongside me. A former world champion track cyclist and Olympic

:05:00. > :05:04.medallist. Boris has become an ambassador in chief cycling. He is

:05:04. > :05:09.not your classic figurehead for elite sport, but in terms of

:05:10. > :05:14.participation, and that is what this is about, he has spearheaded that.

:05:14. > :05:21.He was at the velodrome last year, he is here today, he has ridden

:05:21. > :05:24.round, incredible. Your first Olympic Games was back in 1996,

:05:24. > :05:31.before lottery funding. Cycling was in a very different edition?

:05:31. > :05:36.Completely different. The public perception, we mentioned earlier,

:05:36. > :05:41.the people who are household names. There are so many of them. It is

:05:41. > :05:45.night and day between those days and what we have now. It is amazing to

:05:45. > :05:51.have seen the growth, not just at the elite side, that is where it

:05:51. > :05:58.starts, but here, the participation of people riding bikes for fun, and

:05:58. > :06:03.not just for transport. It is like an inverted pediment. It has flooded

:06:03. > :06:11.down to grassroots. It has. You can understand why, with the coverage in

:06:11. > :06:21.the media. There is no fee to give me from my first two Commonwealth

:06:21. > :06:25.

:06:25. > :06:30.Games. No media. But that has changed. The focus this weekend is

:06:30. > :06:33.the London-Surrey Classic. This is the course that the professional

:06:33. > :06:43.riders arrived on at the moment. They started at the Queen Elizabeth

:06:43. > :07:11.

:07:11. > :07:20.opposite direction to the Olympic road race. Let's catch up with the

:07:20. > :07:22.story of the race. This is a legacy event from the London Olympic and

:07:23. > :07:28.event from the London Olympic and Paralympic in is. It was uneventful

:07:28. > :07:33.in the early stages. The riders were enjoying the scenes of central

:07:33. > :07:41.London, riding at a fairly relaxed pace. There were a few attempted

:07:41. > :07:47.breakaways, but none of them could stake. The best attempt came in

:07:47. > :07:53.Richmond Park. This rider was hauled back. The first sprint was at

:07:53. > :08:00.Hampton Court. It was won by an athlete from Team UK Youth, that is

:08:00. > :08:04.Nigel Mansell's team. Jonathan Mould took the points. Eventually a group

:08:04. > :08:10.of eight riders did get away, including Jonathan McEvoy and

:08:10. > :08:14.Michael Cuming. They had a lead of about five minutes, which was pegged

:08:15. > :08:20.back to about three and a half minutes. The peloton seemed to have

:08:20. > :08:24.it under control. Peter Sagan Colling for a drink. His Cannondale

:08:24. > :08:32.team was fairly quiet, and that bodes well for his finish at the end

:08:32. > :08:36.of this race. He looks fairly comfortable at the moment.

:08:36. > :08:45.interesting thing was, he actually went back for drinks himself. The

:08:45. > :08:53.riders do not have radios. If you went for information that is one

:08:53. > :08:57.thing, but he actually went to get bottles for his team-mates. I know

:08:57. > :09:03.that they were riding fairly sedately at the time. That it is

:09:03. > :09:08.interesting to see. Do you think you might have a problem? No, but he has

:09:08. > :09:12.come into this race extremely relaxed. This is his first

:09:12. > :09:21.competition since the Tour de France. Perhaps mentally he is not

:09:21. > :09:29.ready for it. In terms of the breakaway, nobody of any real zero?

:09:29. > :09:33.No, this is turning out to be a classic sprint finish territory. For

:09:33. > :09:43.the first hour, the bunch was letting nothing go away. From the

:09:43. > :09:53.outside, it was fairly mundane. But in that, it was extremely hectic.

:09:53. > :09:53.

:09:53. > :09:58.After the sprint from Jonathan Mould, the breakaway went. The role

:09:58. > :10:03.of Team Sky will be to bring this back. We thought the David Millar

:10:03. > :10:09.might try and get away, but he is not in the breakaway either. So many

:10:09. > :10:13.people tried, ultimately it is in the lap of the gods whether you make

:10:13. > :10:18.the breakaway are not. Kristian House for instance, he certainly

:10:18. > :10:23.wanted to be in the breakaway. I expected him to be there, but at

:10:23. > :10:28.that time, he did not go for that move, it was his team-mate. That is

:10:28. > :10:35.how the cookie crumbles. I will let you get to the commentary box. Simon

:10:35. > :10:40.is in the on his own at the moment. It is all yours, Simon.

:10:40. > :10:48.Welcome back. Eight riders have been out in front. That number is now

:10:48. > :10:52.dented seven. There are 67 kilometres to go. Three minutes to

:10:52. > :10:56.the peloton. The peloton have reacted in the last 15 minutes. Had

:10:56. > :11:01.they not done so, the gap would have been too big for them to do anything

:11:01. > :11:06.about it. The next claim on the horizon will be Box Hill in the not

:11:06. > :11:09.too distant future. If it was around four and a half minutes, as it might

:11:09. > :11:17.have been at the top of Box Hill, that would have been hard to get

:11:17. > :11:22.back. The riders at the front are as follows. Connor McConvey has been

:11:22. > :11:25.dropped. They have just gone over Leith Hill for the third and final

:11:25. > :11:35.time. They are descending through the trees, which is wide you cannot

:11:35. > :11:38.see anything at the moment. We have Ramon Sinkeldam of Team

:11:38. > :11:48.Argos-Shimano. He had a puncture a few minutes ago. He has managed to

:11:48. > :11:50.

:11:50. > :11:55.get back on. Dominique Rollin, here at the back in the blue, FDJ. Zico

:11:56. > :12:05.Waeytens of Topsport Vlaanderen. Here's a young rider, 20 years of

:12:05. > :12:15.age. Michael Cuming, the winner of the two of Korea earlier this year.

:12:15. > :12:18.

:12:18. > :12:22.Clinton Avery, of champion systems. Johnny McEvoy, of NetApp-Endura. And

:12:22. > :12:28.Reidar Borgersen, from Norway. He is the rider that completes this

:12:29. > :12:34.breakaway. As if by magic, Rob Hayles has appeared. I will leave

:12:34. > :12:40.him to get his breath back. There is some action in the peloton. The gap

:12:40. > :12:45.is coming down all the time. Belkin in the green and black are working

:12:45. > :12:51.hard. Orica Greenedge have a rider up there as well. At last, this race

:12:51. > :12:55.has the potential of coming to life. When the breakaway had set off,

:12:55. > :13:01.about an hour and ten minutes into the race, after that, the peloton

:13:01. > :13:09.were happy to let them go. They have kept them reasonably within range.

:13:09. > :13:13.They have sat back since then. Only now, with less than 70 kilometres to

:13:13. > :13:18.go, they are starting to turn the screw. They are starting to try and

:13:18. > :13:23.bring the breakaway back. The breakaway did start off with eight

:13:23. > :13:32.riders, and it was the Irish raider, Connor McConvey, who got dropped on

:13:32. > :13:36.the claim of Leith Hill for the second time. -- rider. He had done

:13:36. > :13:46.well to be in the breakaway. He fractured his pelvis earlier this

:13:46. > :13:54.

:13:54. > :14:00.year. You're running is coming on, you were here very quickly! I am

:14:01. > :14:10.getting better at it. Very impressed, I was not expecting to

:14:11. > :14:10.

:14:11. > :14:17.see you. The sun has come out this afternoon. None of the riders in the

:14:17. > :14:21.breakaway big-name riders. Peter Sagan, the key rider, for those who

:14:22. > :14:27.did not watch coverage earlier today, Peter Sagan, the green jersey

:14:27. > :14:37.winner in this year's Tour de France. Here's the headline act.

:14:37. > :14:38.

:14:38. > :14:41.Here, on paper. We just mentioned there, with Jonathan, how he was the

:14:41. > :14:48.rider who selected himself to go back for bottles. You could read

:14:48. > :14:54.several things into that. Is he not operate, was he going back for

:14:54. > :14:57.information as well? Did he want the information first-hand? Or is he

:14:57. > :15:07.feeling that good, he is that confident, that what the hell, I

:15:07. > :15:09.

:15:09. > :15:16.will go back. They are absolutely flying. Heading east at the moment.

:15:16. > :15:26.Nice, sweeping descent. But the peloton have reacted in the nick of

:15:26. > :15:26.

:15:26. > :15:35.time. It was seen always ride from Team Sky who set himself up fairly

:15:35. > :15:39.early on, Gabriel Rasch, and he had a couple of kilometres on his own

:15:39. > :15:45.and that was not a problem for him. He was not interested in other

:15:45. > :15:50.riders. It was his job to just peg that group and make sure it did not

:15:50. > :15:54.get over five minutes and he actually brought that down. And

:15:54. > :15:57.several of the other teams started to come in and that is not

:15:57. > :16:02.surprising because those who wanted to come down to the Sprint, they

:16:02. > :16:09.needed to bring that back a little bit because there is not that much

:16:09. > :16:18.climbing. The two rain is not that figure for this group. It is a nice

:16:18. > :16:23.working group. -- difficult. I would imagine, looking at the wind

:16:23. > :16:30.direction on the finish line, I think they will be blown, and that

:16:30. > :16:37.will help the small group. Going back into the city, that will

:16:37. > :16:42.certainly help. Particularly with the direction of the wind, it is

:16:42. > :16:51.difficult to judge. There is not a lot of wind but when it does pick

:16:51. > :17:00.up, it really is quite strong. Just over 60 kilometres left. Heading

:17:00. > :17:10.towards the Sprint, I think, which is in the centre of barking.

:17:10. > :17:12.

:17:12. > :17:22.barking. So maximum points, there. He had a puncture on the climb, and

:17:22. > :17:24.

:17:24. > :17:28.they managed to get back on. The pace has just dropped slightly. They

:17:29. > :17:36.are getting down to business with Team Sky, showing their face at the

:17:36. > :17:46.front. Number two, the Commonwealth Games road champion from 2006. And

:17:46. > :17:49.

:17:49. > :17:59.right on his wheel, Ben Swift. And then Sebastian Langeveld. On the

:17:59. > :18:00.

:18:01. > :18:10.right-hand side. Coming towards the floor. This has potential for Ben

:18:11. > :18:14.

:18:14. > :18:19.Swift and Matt Goss. Yes, on the a 24. Having made that left-hand turn.

:18:19. > :18:25.If the riders looked to their right, they would see that filled towering

:18:25. > :18:35.above them, with those fantastic views across the South East. The

:18:35. > :18:36.

:18:36. > :18:40.peloton is closing in. -- Hill. general rule of thumb in cycling is

:18:40. > :18:47.one minute for every ten kilometres, depending on the combination and who

:18:47. > :18:55.is left to work in the peloton. Today, we are down to only six man

:18:55. > :19:01.teams. There are normally nine of them. 2.5 minutes is easily doable

:19:01. > :19:05.for them. And that is why we have seen them cropping the pace just a

:19:05. > :19:09.little bit and they do not want to bring this group back to early

:19:09. > :19:15.because that just opens things up for the rest of the men who have

:19:15. > :19:25.been sitting in the peloton to go for an attack. As long as there is a

:19:25. > :19:34.

:19:34. > :19:44.group outside, in front, that will keep things calm. Another rider for

:19:44. > :19:49.that Dutch team, Jack Bauer. If this group was closer to them on the next

:19:49. > :19:53.section of road, he would be a likely candidate for attacking from

:19:53. > :19:59.the front of the peloton, and he certainly would not want to wait for

:19:59. > :20:07.the sprint finish. He is a very quick and strong rider. The world

:20:07. > :20:13.record holder in the four kilometre individual pursuit. He has been a

:20:13. > :20:20.mainstay of the Australian pursuit team for many years. There are seven

:20:20. > :20:28.riders up the road. No chance of that. They will just go left and

:20:28. > :20:34.once they go around this roundabout, they will be onto box Hill. They

:20:34. > :20:40.will ride for a very short period and then take that sharp right-hand

:20:40. > :20:48.turn which marks the start of the climb. Any time of the week, when

:20:48. > :20:58.you travel here, there will always be cyclists on that road. This has

:20:58. > :21:09.

:21:10. > :21:14.always been one of those iconic claims in the side. -- climbs.

:21:14. > :21:18.King of the Mountains start. This was the focal point of the Olympic

:21:18. > :21:22.Games. This is where it was all going to happen in the Olympic

:21:22. > :21:27.games. This is where the British team added desperately tried to keep

:21:27. > :21:32.that race together. It is only featuring once in this race but it

:21:32. > :21:42.did feature nine times, they did nine laps of that circuit in the

:21:42. > :21:54.

:21:54. > :22:00.Olympic Games. That is right. Hill, it is a very tough circuit

:22:00. > :22:06.around the back. Whenever you go over the top, there is that straight

:22:06. > :22:14.road and it drags uphill for another mile? The focus was all about Box

:22:15. > :22:21.Hill. All about this road. It was anything but for the riders. And

:22:21. > :22:31.today, we can see that we shall not see much action on this today.

:22:31. > :22:35.

:22:35. > :22:45.rider at the back, at the moment, is Daniel McClay. Second-year

:22:45. > :22:49.

:22:49. > :22:55.professional. From Champion System Pro Cycling Team. And here we have

:22:55. > :23:04.Dominique Rollin. He was in the France this year. On the right-hand

:23:04. > :23:14.side, Zico Waeytens. 21 years old. This is a great experience for that

:23:14. > :23:18.

:23:18. > :23:21.youngster and in front of him, Jonathan McEvoy. These are the

:23:21. > :23:29.riders that we can see at the moment. Just getting some advice

:23:30. > :23:35.from the team car. Yes, some information, he will be told that he

:23:35. > :23:39.is just over 2.5 minutes from the peloton. Information on who is

:23:39. > :23:44.likely to be riding at the front. And what is coming up. He will not

:23:44. > :23:54.really know these roads. He might have watched the race last year. But

:23:54. > :23:56.

:23:56. > :24:06.just being reminded of what is coming up. Ramon Sinkeldam. He is

:24:06. > :24:06.

:24:06. > :24:11.wearing white. He is a very promising rider, he won the under 23

:24:11. > :24:20.version of the head of the North. And here comes David Millar. Great

:24:20. > :24:27.to see, hear. He was in the Olympics last year. And fresh, if that is the

:24:27. > :24:37.right word, from the Tour de France? Yes, seven guys still out, and that

:24:37. > :24:42.

:24:42. > :24:52.calms things down. The gap had increased, it was down to 2.17. We

:24:52. > :24:55.

:24:55. > :24:59.are on this iconic claim of Box Hill. -- claim. -- claim. He will

:24:59. > :25:09.hope that his team-mate can go clear over the top of this and then on the

:25:09. > :25:14.

:25:14. > :25:22.descent, on those smaller roads, out of sight, out of mind, as they say.

:25:22. > :25:31.The peloton is behind. He is out of his saddle. He knows that these are

:25:31. > :25:40.dangerous jerseys coming up the road. Back with the front. Ramon

:25:40. > :25:49.Sinkeldam has been quite prominent. The Belgian hanging on at the back.

:25:49. > :25:57.It is fairly steady, Box Hill? not particularly steep. It looks

:25:58. > :26:07.worse than it is. The cameraman is tilting his lens. But this is nice

:26:08. > :26:13.

:26:13. > :26:20.and steady. It is a flat over the top which generally gives problems.

:26:20. > :26:24.56.7, jurors away from the finish in the mole. And nearly 20,000 other

:26:24. > :26:33.riders have already finished. Some celebrities among them. We heard

:26:33. > :26:43.from James Cracknell. And John to road. Crossing the finish line

:26:43. > :26:52.

:26:52. > :26:58.earlier. -- John Torode. What kept you going? I made some flapjacks for

:26:58. > :27:01.myself and also the ambience, it was brilliant. Such an amazing day and

:27:01. > :27:07.it was so well organised and everybody is smiling. Some people

:27:07. > :27:14.grimacing but that was awesome. How much training has gone into this?

:27:14. > :27:19.have never done an hundred miles, but it was just great. I will be

:27:19. > :27:29.doing this again, that is for sure. You took a little brake, but six

:27:29. > :27:30.

:27:30. > :27:36.hours? About six hours.I took about half an hour on Box Hill. Just under

:27:36. > :27:41.six hours, I am really pleased. Great crowds enjoying the spectacle

:27:41. > :27:48.and lots of emotion coming through the finish line because people are

:27:48. > :27:51.enjoying the activities but also they are supporting great causes. I

:27:51. > :27:58.am riding for great Ormond, and they have no funding and we try to raise

:27:58. > :28:04.as much money as we can. It has been a brilliant day. Fantastic, great

:28:04. > :28:10.seeing you here. Thank you. Another great combination. Celebrity

:28:10. > :28:15.cyclist, raising money for a very good cause. They seem quite taken

:28:15. > :28:21.with the experience. Sally Gunnell, James Cracknell early on and from

:28:21. > :28:28.Boris Johnson, they all have had a very good day. This is what this is

:28:28. > :28:38.about, the Elite race that we see nine is one thing but the big hard

:28:38. > :28:41.is the bigger picture, participation and charities. RideLondon has

:28:41. > :28:44.covered all bases because we have 50,000 people riding around the

:28:44. > :28:50.empty streets of the centre of London, racing for various

:28:50. > :28:59.categories, the Elite women, we will have a recapture that, and then this

:28:59. > :29:09.race. And 20,000 people taking part in the London 100? It is

:29:09. > :29:10.

:29:10. > :29:14.all-encompassing. David Millar, he did that just to put pressure on the

:29:15. > :29:20.peloton, just to get rid of those sprinters. He has formed a spent

:29:20. > :29:28.group. They might have gone just a little bit too hard. They were

:29:28. > :29:38.perhaps hoping for a slightly bigger group. We have another group,

:29:38. > :29:46.notably alongside David Millar, we have Ian Bibby, and that was a very

:29:46. > :29:52.good move. Absolutely. Getting into that little group. They have

:29:52. > :30:01.splintered away from the front of the peloton. Keeping a very close

:30:01. > :30:08.eye on things. This is David Millar on the front. They have probably got

:30:08. > :30:12.around ten or 15 seconds on the peloton. They have riders from Team

:30:12. > :30:17.Argos-Shimano and Belkin Pro Cycling Team and you would think that some

:30:17. > :30:27.of those riders would not be keen on doing too much work at the front.

:30:27. > :30:35.

:30:35. > :30:38.Over the top of Box Hill. peloton are not keen on this great

:30:38. > :30:43.going away. It looks like there is a white jersey on the front of the

:30:43. > :30:48.peloton, which will be Argos-Shimano. Team Sky as well.

:30:48. > :30:51.They will be desperate for this to come back. If this group goes

:30:51. > :31:01.cleared and then forms with the seven riders out front, that is a

:31:01. > :31:02.

:31:02. > :31:04.seven riders out front, that is a real big danger. I get the

:31:04. > :31:13.impression they are doing everything possible to stop that from

:31:13. > :31:19.happening. Yes, it is being left to David Millar now. The riders are

:31:19. > :31:22.heading over the top of Box Hill. They are on a drag, where you think

:31:22. > :31:32.you're over the top of the claim, but you're still going uphill

:31:32. > :31:33.

:31:33. > :31:38.slightly. 56 seconds now.It is coming down all the time. It is not

:31:38. > :31:44.surprising, the speed that this group is going. This is the false

:31:44. > :31:50.flat section that we have mentioned. They are just going over the top of

:31:50. > :32:00.it and they are unable to press on a little bit more. And it is Richard

:32:00. > :32:05.

:32:05. > :32:09.Handley has made it from Rapha Condor JLT. That is Ian Bibby, we

:32:09. > :32:17.are looking at, from madison Genesis. Yes, a former mountain

:32:17. > :32:27.biker. A message coming through from those at the front. Yes, they are

:32:27. > :32:39.

:32:39. > :32:44.getting the information. They will know that their time is tumbling. It

:32:44. > :32:53.looks like it is coming back together. They are coming through

:32:54. > :33:03.Box Hill village. Then they will head down towards Leatherhead, that

:33:03. > :33:09.is the next time that will be visited by these riders. -- town. I

:33:09. > :33:13.think that is Damiano Caruso in the green of Cannondale. David Millar is

:33:13. > :33:23.looking for more assistance. One of the riders from FDG is coming

:33:23. > :33:38.

:33:38. > :33:48.through. -- FDJ. It is a very fast descent. Once they get to the

:33:48. > :33:48.

:33:48. > :33:54.bottom, there is a brief uphill section before they rejoin the 24.

:33:54. > :34:00.That is David Millar. He is not happy. He does not look overly

:34:00. > :34:06.impressed. He put a lot of work in there, and he probably expected a

:34:06. > :34:12.little bit more damage to have been done. It is a fairly sizeable group

:34:12. > :34:17.that has gone over the top, and it is Jack Bauer now, the Kiwi. He had

:34:17. > :34:22.a very nasty crash which ended his Tour de France. He got nearly all

:34:22. > :34:27.the way around, and then there was a bad crash on a mountain descent. He

:34:27. > :34:34.ended up in a barbed wire fence. He had some stitches in his face.

:34:34. > :34:38.was in a bad way, he had some facial injuries. Obviously his stitches are

:34:38. > :34:48.not pulling too badly, the way he is pulling faces extra mission marked

:34:48. > :34:48.

:34:48. > :34:53.this is the kind of rider that here. He will be from -- he will be

:34:54. > :34:59.familiar with UK roads? Yes, he spent a season here before making

:34:59. > :35:05.the move to the big teams on the continent. He has done well as part

:35:05. > :35:08.of their Giro d'Italia line-up, when they won the team time trial stage.

:35:08. > :35:18.He was going to finish the Tour de France until he crashed out. Without

:35:18. > :35:20.

:35:20. > :35:27.a doubt. We are now following the chasers. Simon Yates, from the Great

:35:27. > :35:30.Britain Cycling Team. Simon Yates, add 20 years of age, becoming the

:35:30. > :35:39.world champion on the tractor earlier this year, really impressive

:35:39. > :35:43.rate from him in the world points race. He won a stage in the younger

:35:43. > :35:48.version of the Tour de France, for up-and-coming riders. He has

:35:48. > :35:55.pedigree on the track and the road as well. He has so much potential as

:35:55. > :36:00.an all-round bike rider. He is like a Peter Kennaugh type of bike rider.

:36:00. > :36:10.He is fairly confident on the claims, but not the Alpine claims.

:36:10. > :36:15.He has good all-round ability. are inside the last 50 kilometres.

:36:15. > :36:19.There is no indication as to who will emerge victorious, but this

:36:19. > :36:28.breakaway group is having their lead whittled away, consistently, by the

:36:28. > :36:33.peloton. We are heading to the business end of the stage. Here are

:36:34. > :36:43.the chasers, here is Jack Bauer in the blue Garmin Sharp. He is second

:36:43. > :36:52.in line, behind Simon Yates. Jack Bauer looked like he had one of the

:36:52. > :37:02.cat's eyes. It just sent him off his line. Do you think that is the FDJ

:37:02. > :37:03.

:37:03. > :37:07.rider? We will try and clarify that for you. It is a strong grip. Jack

:37:07. > :37:17.Bauer is such a strong time trialist. He is a strong rider over

:37:17. > :37:29.

:37:29. > :37:34.to rain like this. -- to rain. is the punchy part of the circuit.

:37:34. > :37:43.Jack Bauer is looking very businesslike. Yes, he is recovering

:37:43. > :37:47.well from the Tour de France. Heading back down towards the 24,

:37:47. > :37:56.they will turn left shortly and go downhill before disappearing in that

:37:56. > :38:01.collection of Leatherhead. -- in the direction of Leatherhead. This is

:38:01. > :38:10.our leading group. There are 38 seconds clear of the Jack Bauer

:38:10. > :38:19.chasers. The peloton are further 12 seconds back. They are trying

:38:19. > :38:28.anything to get a bit of extra speed on this descent. Rough roads here,

:38:28. > :38:35.as well, down the back end of this part of the circuit. It is fortunate

:38:36. > :38:41.that the weather is kind in the riders today. There is a long way to

:38:41. > :38:45.go, it is only 35 seconds for the leading group. Yes, I think it is

:38:45. > :38:49.destined to come under the cosh, is pretty much all breakaways do on

:38:49. > :38:55.circuits like this. I would be extremely surprised to see any of

:38:55. > :39:00.these guys staying away. Some of the sprinters in the main peloton have

:39:00. > :39:07.been keeping their powder dry and not showing their faces. I am sure

:39:07. > :39:14.they will be licking their lips. Certainly, there is a good handful

:39:14. > :39:19.of sprinters who would be in the mix for a full on bunch gallop. Most

:39:19. > :39:29.notably, Peter Sagan, but there are others, Matt Goss, Gerald Ciolek,

:39:29. > :39:31.

:39:31. > :39:38.Sacha Modolo. We have not seen much of Gerald Ciolek. We have not seen

:39:38. > :39:42.any of these guys, it is normally a good sign. It depends what has

:39:42. > :39:46.happened, is there a splinter group of the back of the peloton going

:39:46. > :39:51.over Box Hill? Under normal conditions, Box Hill would not

:39:51. > :39:57.normally have much of an effect, but the way the two Garmin Sharp riders

:39:57. > :40:07.rode over that, it could have done a lot of damage. There we are, the Box

:40:07. > :40:17.Hill classification for the King of the Mountains. The riders are back

:40:17. > :40:19.

:40:19. > :40:29.onto the 24 at the moment. We are now towards Leatherhead. -- back

:40:29. > :40:36.

:40:36. > :40:39.onto the A24. We are couple of miles south of the M25 at the moment.

:40:40. > :40:44.We're back with the leading group. They have been ahead for a long time

:40:44. > :40:52.these riders, they have only shared one of the riders. Connor McConvey

:40:52. > :40:57.was left behind on one of the three loops they did in the Surrey Hills.

:40:57. > :41:07.It was based on Leith Hill. The rest of them have stuck together, but the

:41:07. > :41:11.

:41:12. > :41:15.game is almost up for them. The way that the peloton was riding behind,

:41:15. > :41:23.I am pretty adamant that they will not let it go too far. But it

:41:23. > :41:33.depends what they have got left in the legs. They may decide to let it

:41:33. > :41:35.

:41:35. > :41:40.go a little bit. It is still 45 kilometres. It is probably about

:41:41. > :41:45.15-20 seconds to these riders. to see one of the young British

:41:45. > :41:50.riders there, Simon Yates, mixing it. They have absolutely no fear,

:41:50. > :42:00.these youngsters. They are put through such a good resume on the

:42:00. > :42:11.

:42:11. > :42:20.Academy. -- such a good programme. Just looking back, they are saying

:42:20. > :42:23.20 seconds. It is probably about that at the moment. I cannot see

:42:23. > :42:33.that far back down the road. races heading into the centre of

:42:33. > :42:34.

:42:34. > :42:42.Leatherhead. Still we have this lead group. Ramon Sinkeldam, Dominique

:42:42. > :42:52.Rollin, Zico Waeytens, Michael Cuming, Clinton Avery, Vegard Breen,

:42:52. > :42:56.

:42:56. > :43:00.Reidar Borgersen, and Johnny McEvoy. It has been a lengthy breakaway, but

:43:00. > :43:05.I think it is a breakaway that is not going to be afraid for any of

:43:05. > :43:15.these riders in terms of the outcome of the race. There is a big crowd in

:43:15. > :43:29.

:43:29. > :43:33.the centre of London, in the Mall, waiting for these riders. A lot of

:43:33. > :43:35.the people who have written today, they will be able to watch this and

:43:35. > :43:41.pick exactly where the riders are and how they were feeling at that

:43:41. > :43:46.point in the day, probably not so good, some of them. It was a long

:43:46. > :43:52.day for so many riders, but what an achievement. You could see it

:43:52. > :43:54.written across their faces, and the way that people have been crossing

:43:54. > :44:01.the line today, absolutely exhausted, but ecstatic, most of

:44:01. > :44:11.them. Yes, quite emotional, some of them as well. Everyone has their own

:44:11. > :44:11.

:44:11. > :44:15.story. There will be an awful lot of stories to tell. If they are

:44:15. > :44:18.anything like bag riders in a race, then the things that they will have

:44:18. > :44:28.encountered and seen today, they will be telling people about it for

:44:28. > :44:37.

:44:37. > :44:47.quite some time. That is Johanna Freda Francaise Des Jeux. -- Yoann

:44:47. > :44:50.

:44:50. > :44:59.Offredo of. The race is now heading for Cobham. There will be a sprint

:44:59. > :45:03.in the high Street. That will be the 184 colour matters to go mark. This

:45:03. > :45:13.group behind the leading riders. The peloton are less than a minute down.

:45:13. > :45:13.

:45:13. > :45:23.It is still tight, it is still close. Simon Yates is at the front,

:45:23. > :45:24.

:45:24. > :45:34.the British rider. Just improvising a little bit. And now, with the

:45:34. > :45:48.

:45:48. > :45:56.leaders. These three still riding well. Jack Bauer is really dragging

:45:56. > :46:05.them along. And there we go, the first shot we have of them. They are

:46:05. > :46:10.gradually ringing them in. The arrival of this three will get them

:46:10. > :46:18.some time out in front. It certainly will, and that helps in terms of

:46:18. > :46:24.what we have from FDJ Fr, they can afford to have one of them burying

:46:24. > :46:34.themselves for the other. But that also takes the chase away from

:46:34. > :46:37.

:46:37. > :46:46.certain teams who had not already made this. Great Britain Cycling

:46:46. > :46:56.Team, having only Simon Yates, that will help. 48 seconds. Still a good

:46:56. > :46:56.

:46:56. > :47:02.job. But it is a very big ask for any of this group. 41.2 kilometres,

:47:02. > :47:07.still a long way to go for these riders. And it might just swell this

:47:07. > :47:13.group a little bit more and will entice people to start attacking and

:47:13. > :47:21.as long as they stay and take their turns, bit by bit, it should not be

:47:21. > :47:28.a problem. But if they decide to start barking around the back, that

:47:28. > :47:35.might put the cat amongst the pigeons. That often puts more time

:47:35. > :47:44.into the peloton. Because the group will start increasing speed but

:47:44. > :47:47.ultimately, it really puts the fear of doom over that group even more so

:47:47. > :47:54.because it wears them out when they start attacking each other. They

:47:54. > :47:59.really need to ride evenly and they have more firepower so they should

:47:59. > :48:02.use that, hopefully to the best of their ability and that will put more

:48:02. > :48:09.pressure on the team sprinters back in the peloton and ultimately, teams

:48:10. > :48:15.around them. And they are smaller teams. It will be interesting to see

:48:15. > :48:25.how this starts to pan out. But these seven riders, they are tired.

:48:25. > :48:25.

:48:25. > :48:31.They have been out there all day. does look that way. He was just

:48:31. > :48:41.hanging off the back of that group. Orica Greenedge, they have a vested

:48:41. > :48:41.

:48:41. > :48:51.interest with Matthew Goss. Team Sky would be keen as well. The Italian

:48:51. > :48:51.

:48:51. > :49:00.team, you would think that they also might be starting to feature because

:49:00. > :49:09.they have been very quiet. Sacha Modolo, he was having one of his

:49:09. > :49:16.best seasons. On that preparation for London? They came in the other

:49:17. > :49:22.week, passed Buckingham Palace, and this time, up Whitehall and through

:49:22. > :49:28.the arch. And the other way around. If there is anyway and at the time

:49:28. > :49:31.of the finish, because there is nothing at the moment, but it has

:49:32. > :49:41.been directly in their faces, and that could play a vital part in

:49:42. > :49:58.

:49:58. > :50:03.timing. -- any wind. Again, trying the front of the peloton, still less

:50:03. > :50:07.than one minute behind. But Jack Bauer was keen to get to the front

:50:07. > :50:17.of that leading group as part of the chasing group of three riders.

:50:17. > :50:20.

:50:20. > :50:27.Towards the front, trying to catch their breath. Jack Bauer is strong,

:50:27. > :50:37.he will soak that up. One of the continental teams getting a ride

:50:37. > :50:40.

:50:40. > :50:45.today. Michael Cuming, trying to get into this group but he will be out

:50:45. > :50:53.the back of this one. Trying to seek refuge in the peloton. It is so

:50:53. > :50:58.hard, when you finally get caught, just to stay in there, usually you

:50:58. > :51:05.just get spat back. And you then have to find your own way to the

:51:06. > :51:11.finish. The last 40 kilometres. That was a very good day by him. And the

:51:11. > :51:21.team director will be extremely pleased with his work. He has

:51:21. > :51:27.

:51:27. > :51:34.contributed. He has a parachute. He got up late this morning and had to

:51:34. > :51:40.rush. That is one of their pet hates. When you see riders with

:51:40. > :51:45.jerseys hanging off? All of this money and time spent on equipment.

:51:45. > :51:54.And you cannot order a number on correctly and it hangs off and it

:51:54. > :52:04.catches the wind and it slows you down. They are not at their

:52:04. > :52:11.

:52:11. > :52:17.of London 2012. Not too many of those who were racing that they are

:52:17. > :52:25.here. David Millar is one of them. We saw him at the front, riding up

:52:25. > :52:35.Box Hill earlier on. And we are looking at Dominique Rollin. Riding

:52:35. > :52:38.

:52:38. > :52:48.on the front. He was a previous winner over one stage of the Tour of

:52:48. > :52:53.

:52:53. > :53:01.California. This is the sprint in Cobham. And Ramon Sinkeldam takes

:53:01. > :53:09.it. The training ground of Chelsea. Just inside the end 25. Heading back

:53:09. > :53:13.towards London. Judging by the direction of the wind, not quite so

:53:13. > :53:22.strong in central London, and it will be mostly behind them going

:53:22. > :53:29.back in. It looks like it might be coming across, that tailwind.

:53:29. > :53:37.on the front. It is Great Britain Cycling Team. It is the same riders.

:53:37. > :53:47.Towing everyone along. It is swift up there. Adam Yates is in third

:53:47. > :53:54.

:53:55. > :54:04.place. Just policing this. Good turnout in Cobham for these

:54:05. > :54:12.

:54:12. > :54:16.cyclists. 35.6 kilometres left to go. This is the chasing peloton.

:54:16. > :54:23.Yates, in such a powerful position. This is just a little reminder of

:54:23. > :54:29.the course. They have just gone through Cobham, over the Thames and

:54:29. > :54:35.towards Kingston. That is the section upon which the race is

:54:35. > :54:42.taking place at this particular moment. Kingston is the only place

:54:42. > :54:49.that will see this race on the way out and on the way in. There was a

:54:49. > :54:53.time check on the way into Hampton Court on the day that Bradley

:54:53. > :54:59.Wiggins got his gold medal on that sunny afternoon. Just a little idea

:54:59. > :55:09.of where we are. We were surely the map of the route into the centre of

:55:09. > :55:18.

:55:18. > :55:22.London as we head into the business and of this race. -- end. Out of all

:55:22. > :55:28.of these sprinters, Ben Swift is here. There is one group not far

:55:28. > :55:38.behind. Simon Yates, he had his turn at the front and he just cannot hold

:55:38. > :55:53.

:55:53. > :55:58.this case. Attacking. He has gone with it. And it is Alfredo. He has

:55:58. > :56:03.had some decent results in big races this year and he is trying to make

:56:03. > :56:10.his mark. But with only 34 kilometres left to go, he does have

:56:10. > :56:20.his work cut out. Still quite a long way. And they do seem to be working

:56:20. > :56:22.

:56:22. > :56:32.well together. I am quite surprised that he put that move in. Ben Swift

:56:32. > :56:32.

:56:32. > :56:42.had made that move and he was off the back of Box Hill. His team-mate

:56:42. > :56:43.

:56:43. > :56:53.is just up ahead. The Australian. We have not seen who else is there.

:56:53. > :56:55.

:56:55. > :57:05.Another rider from Orica Greenedge. That is Christian Meier. And to

:57:05. > :57:15.riders back at the front. Alfredo, in blue. And right behind him, on

:57:15. > :57:29.

:57:29. > :57:32.his wheel, 100 and set -- Zico Waeytens. Just 21 years of age. If

:57:33. > :57:38.he could get something here, that really would be a turn up for the

:57:38. > :57:45.books. And they are moving away from the riders that they have left.

:57:45. > :57:50.Getting that information to them. 45 seconds. Just moving across, trying

:57:50. > :57:57.to get behind the motor bike. You cannot blame them! They have been in

:57:57. > :58:02.the saddle for quite a long time. Every we go back this chasing group,

:58:02. > :58:07.Jack Bauer, he is always near the front, always looking as if he is

:58:07. > :58:11.trying to take control of this group and encouraging the others to

:58:11. > :58:17.contribute. But they are just going so much slower than these at the

:58:17. > :58:27.front. This fight has gone out of this group. There is one rider in

:58:27. > :58:29.

:58:29. > :58:39.there. Dominique Rollin. He has got a free ride in that group. And the

:58:39. > :58:39.

:58:39. > :58:49.main group behind. That is Mathew Hayman. The road race champion from

:58:49. > :58:54.

:58:54. > :58:59.2006. Going here. They are having a real go. They had several riders

:58:59. > :59:06.trying to make a go of it in the first half of the race. And here

:59:06. > :59:10.they go. The longer this goes on, it is just so hard because the pace

:59:10. > :59:18.keeps going up. Especially when you have riders committing at the front

:59:18. > :59:21.of the peloton. Like Orica Greenedge and Team Sky. You get to this point

:59:21. > :59:27.in the season and riders have either just signed another contract and

:59:28. > :59:31.they are happy and some of them are not that interested. They are just

:59:32. > :59:37.here to follow the wheels. But there are others who desperately are

:59:37. > :59:41.fighting for anything they can get, trying to show themselves to people

:59:41. > :59:47.and that is what some of these riders are doing. At this stage of

:59:47. > :59:51.the season, post Tour de France. Trying to show their face. Not

:59:51. > :59:56.necessarily trying to fight for the win but just showing themselves to

:59:56. > :00:00.be active and I there and aggressive. And that is how this

:00:01. > :00:06.sport works. Especially this late in the season. This is the last event

:00:06. > :00:11.of RideLondon. This is the centrepiece. The cycling Festival in

:00:11. > :00:21.the image capital with over 70,000 cyclists taking part over this

:00:21. > :00:22.

:00:22. > :00:32.begin. And there we are. -- weekend. The next stop will be Kingston upon

:00:32. > :00:35.

:00:35. > :00:45.Thames, soon. They have just over 20 kilometres to go at that point. It

:00:45. > :00:46.

:00:46. > :00:56.comes at the 197 kilometre mark. There is the leading two. Zico

:00:56. > :00:56.

:00:56. > :01:00.Waeytens and Yoann Offredo. They are riding well at the moment. There is

:01:00. > :01:10.not much wind at the moment, but what there is not much wind at the

:01:10. > :01:12.

:01:12. > :01:19.moment, but what did exist behind them blow them along. He is bidding

:01:19. > :01:22.himself. We will give him ten out of ten for effort. He is desperate to

:01:22. > :01:32.try and join the leading duo, but I do not think he is going to manage

:01:32. > :01:39.it. He has made it to the second group. That is no consolation,

:01:39. > :01:44.because they have already given up. They really have given up the chase.

:01:44. > :01:48.These two will be the last two out in front. There is sand and

:01:49. > :01:54.racecourse on the left-hand side. has gone through that group, and he

:01:54. > :01:59.is going clear. Sometimes in cases like this, you do get riders who

:01:59. > :02:09.will jump across to him. That is what you will be hoping, to get some

:02:09. > :02:11.

:02:11. > :02:17.help. It looks like one of the riders is trying to come across.

:02:17. > :02:25.is impossible to tell who it is. Thomas Rostollan. He was involved in

:02:25. > :02:35.breakaways earlier. Here's the Frenchman, from La Pomme Marseille.

:02:35. > :02:44.

:02:44. > :02:49.He is trying to make the running. Fantastic crowds at the roadside.

:02:49. > :02:55.Inside the last article matters. They are really building he'd led

:02:55. > :03:00.the finish as well. There is a big monitor up for everyone to see, so

:03:00. > :03:10.they are able to follow the race into the finish. The race is heading

:03:10. > :03:13.

:03:13. > :03:20.towards Thames Ditton. We are runaway towards Kingston on Thames.

:03:20. > :03:27.-- we are on our way. Thomas Rostollan continues to hammer along

:03:27. > :03:32.the road. The crowd are getting bigger at the finish line. It is

:03:32. > :03:41.probably about a dozen deep on either side of the road. There is a

:03:41. > :03:47.big crowd watching the big screen away from where we are sitting.

:03:47. > :03:51.Christian Knees, the German rider, he is on the front. When he is on

:03:51. > :03:55.the front, that means that life will get more difficult for the people in

:03:55. > :04:01.behind, because he can really pile on the pressure. He has a

:04:01. > :04:06.considerable engine. He does. We know that he only get stronger and

:04:06. > :04:15.stronger than a race like this as they roll into the finish. Offredo

:04:16. > :04:24.is looking very strong. He really has the bit between his teeth.

:04:24. > :04:31.he is in a nice position. He is hooked onto the brake levers on top

:04:31. > :04:37.of the handlebars. He looks very powerful as well. This is Thomas

:04:37. > :04:42.Rostollan, and he is out in front of the others in the field. He looks

:04:42. > :04:50.like he is dying a thousand deaths. It looks quite blustery, looking at

:04:50. > :04:55.the branches. He has a nice big tailwind, which is why he is out

:04:55. > :05:02.there on his own. If it was a headwind, he would have been brought

:05:02. > :05:10.back by now. It is quick, they are getting blown back to the Mall.

:05:10. > :05:14.Still just the 59 seconds. It will be some chase. We can see how

:05:14. > :05:21.organised it becomes. The Arrowhead at the front of the peloton tells

:05:21. > :05:31.you that the pace is going up and up. Cannondale in the middle of the

:05:31. > :05:31.

:05:31. > :05:35.group of riders. Bardiani Valvole or in the middle as well. We have seen

:05:35. > :05:43.a lot of Peter Sagan. He has been talked up for this race, but I am

:05:43. > :05:47.not sure. We saw him go back for the bottles earlier. He did not look

:05:47. > :05:54.like a man who was conserving his energy for a big finish. But you

:05:54. > :06:04.never know. He may be feeling quietly confident. We are heading to

:06:04. > :06:05.

:06:05. > :06:12.Kingston now, just alongside the Thames. This is a big test for Zico

:06:12. > :06:16.Waeytens, the Belgian rider. It has been a really good ride from him

:06:16. > :06:25.today, and commissaire is coming alongside, to tell them what the gap

:06:25. > :06:30.is. It has gone 80 minute, with 25 kilometres to go. That is not a

:06:30. > :06:35.problem for the peloton. The tailwind is certainly helping these

:06:35. > :06:40.guys stay clear of the peloton. Thomas Rostollan is dangling in

:06:40. > :06:50.front of the peloton. Just about, use a nice little carried for the

:06:50. > :06:56.

:06:56. > :07:00.peloton. -- he is a nice little carrot for the peloton. The pace is

:07:00. > :07:08.really starting to increase now, but the peloton have not gained for the

:07:08. > :07:11.last five minutes. There is Thomas Rostollan, of La Pomme Marseille.

:07:11. > :07:18.do not think we will be seeing much of him over the next couple of

:07:18. > :07:24.kilometres. He will soon be brought back. Offredo is making all the

:07:24. > :07:33.running here. He is doing all the work. We have not seen waiting is at

:07:33. > :07:43.the front for a little while. -- we have not seen is a at the front. --

:07:43. > :07:51.

:07:51. > :07:55.Zico Waeytens. He has just been sitting on his wheel. Having said

:07:55. > :08:00.that, we have not seen him flick his elbow, which is the normal sign for

:08:00. > :08:08.someone to come through. But perhaps Zico Waeytens cannot actually give

:08:08. > :08:18.him a turn. There is Thomas Rostollan. He has done his big

:08:18. > :08:22.

:08:22. > :08:25.effort. Here come Bardiani Valvole, and his team-mates. We have not seen

:08:25. > :08:31.Cannondale. Maybe they are waiting and they will ambition the last

:08:31. > :08:41.minute. They have put nothing into this chase at all. The cyclist

:08:41. > :08:45.

:08:45. > :08:50.Harrett Kingston just me. -- the cyclists are at Kingston just now.

:08:50. > :09:00.The gap has gone up slightly. There is a sprint coming up in just a

:09:00. > :09:03.moment. It is the final sprint of the day. That was a nice little

:09:03. > :09:09.chase out of the left-hander behind the motorbike. There was a little

:09:09. > :09:12.bit of slipstreaming there. Every little bit helps. The peloton are

:09:12. > :09:22.not that far behind, as they come racing through the centre of the

:09:22. > :09:22.

:09:22. > :09:27.time. -- town. Team Sky on the front. Cannondale are starting to

:09:27. > :09:35.loom near the front. You can see a couple of the riders creeping up

:09:35. > :09:40.into the top 15. At the front, especially on roads like this, you

:09:40. > :09:46.need to keep as far to the front as you can. It is a lot easier run

:09:46. > :09:49.these twisty roads. If you are at the back, you get a whiplash effect.

:09:49. > :09:54.You are going a lot quicker at the back, as the riders slowed down and

:09:54. > :10:03.jump out of the bends, by the time you get out of the back of the

:10:03. > :10:07.peloton, you can often be doing five kilometres faster. You are left

:10:07. > :10:13.thinking, how can they be going so quickly, when in reality, they are

:10:13. > :10:18.not. I think it is a shame that Peter Kennaugh and Ian Stannard are

:10:18. > :10:21.not in the team today. Having done so well in the Tour de France, it

:10:21. > :10:31.would have been great for them to get a ride in front of the British

:10:31. > :10:37.

:10:37. > :10:44.public. This could certainly be a showcase for those top riders. I do

:10:44. > :10:48.not know by how much more the crowd could swell. If Bradley Wiggins was

:10:48. > :10:55.riding, Mark Cavendish, Chris Froome... Lets hope they are riding

:10:55. > :11:01.in the future. It would be fantastic. They certainly should be.

:11:01. > :11:11.But the programme is so busy for these professional riders. I do not

:11:11. > :11:12.

:11:12. > :11:20.know how the team stretched himself to cover races. -- teams stretch

:11:20. > :11:28.themselves. Mark Cavendish is in Denmark. He won the final stage in

:11:28. > :11:32.Copenhagen. The finishing circuit looked rather like the Mall. It is

:11:32. > :11:36.an incredible finishing circuit. It is a showcase for the end of the two

:11:36. > :11:42.of Denmark. They love cycling in Denmark. There are thousands and

:11:42. > :11:46.thousands. Mark Cavendish, his team are not even here, but they chose to

:11:46. > :11:56.ride the two of Denmark. Mark Cavendish came away with the win

:11:56. > :12:02.

:12:03. > :12:06.today. -- Tour of Denmark. We are almost into the final 20 kilometres

:12:06. > :12:11.as we head back into London for what form it is to be a spectacular

:12:12. > :12:18.finish. The race is heading in the general direction of Wimbledon just

:12:18. > :12:28.me. That is the next major point along the route. We will have a look

:12:28. > :12:45.

:12:46. > :12:51.at that now, to show you where we go quickly now. 20.1 kilometres to

:12:51. > :12:55.go and we still have not seen Peter Sagan for a long time. It will be

:12:55. > :13:00.interesting to see if he is in there. I am actually getting news

:13:00. > :13:03.that he may well have been popped on Box Hill. For all the talk that Box

:13:03. > :13:08.Hill was not going to pick any of them in trouble, I think the myth

:13:08. > :13:14.that Avery Millar put in, it may have picked him out. Do not quote me

:13:14. > :13:19.on that. It is interesting that Cannondale do not have riders at the

:13:19. > :13:25.front of the peloton. There are a couple there, but it eaters sick and

:13:25. > :13:32.was there, normally we would see them en masse. -- but if Peter Sagan

:13:32. > :13:41.was there, normally we would see them. We are inside the last 20

:13:41. > :13:47.kilometres. A rider from Sojasun is out that the front of the peloton.

:13:47. > :13:53.And IG-Sigma Sport rider has gone with him as well. They are all

:13:53. > :14:00.starting to get active. They know they are inside the last 20

:14:00. > :14:04.kilometres. They are starting to move towards the finish. If any of

:14:04. > :14:10.the guys have anything left, they will be trying to do all they can

:14:10. > :14:13.and trying to show themselves as best as possible. One of the great

:14:13. > :14:18.things about the big by grace is that actually it comes to you quite

:14:18. > :14:23.often. You do not have to go anywhere, you just stand at the end

:14:23. > :14:31.of the garden, you do not have to pay 50 for a ticket, you can just

:14:31. > :14:41.watch the race go past. Yoann Offredo and Zico Waeytens are still

:14:41. > :14:42.

:14:42. > :14:52.in front. The gap stays the same. Yoann Offredo is not afraid to do

:14:52. > :14:53.

:14:53. > :15:03.any work at the front! Let us look at these chasers, just in front of

:15:03. > :15:07.

:15:07. > :15:17.the peloton. I would be surprised if any of these sprinters will let

:15:17. > :15:17.

:15:17. > :15:27.these riders get too far away. just gives them the carrot to chase.

:15:27. > :15:29.

:15:29. > :15:37.Psychological advantage. Mentally, it will really help. One of those

:15:37. > :15:46.riders who will be under pressure today will be Sacha Modolo. His team

:15:46. > :15:56.in that bright green jersey. Expect to see the sprinters from those

:15:56. > :16:18.

:16:18. > :16:25.teams. Are we looking at Peter but we do not know. We don't see his

:16:25. > :16:35.team. Coming towards the front, now. Maybe he is back in there. There was

:16:35. > :16:37.

:16:37. > :16:42.plenty of time off the back of the race. I would not be surprised if

:16:42. > :16:50.Peter Sagan was still hanging in there. There has been no word of any

:16:50. > :17:00.particular problem. Matt Goss, his team-mate starting to gather at the

:17:00. > :17:00.

:17:01. > :17:10.front. There are a lot of Cannondale riders by the looks of things. At

:17:11. > :17:11.

:17:11. > :17:21.least three of them. That implies that Peter Sagan is still there.

:17:21. > :17:23.Yoann Offredo is leading the way. The centrepiece of this weekend in

:17:23. > :17:31.which 70 thousand cyclists are taking to the streets of London and

:17:31. > :17:37.Surrey, all to encourage cycling in the English capital. This is really

:17:37. > :17:47.the icing on the cake. This professional road race. 220

:17:47. > :17:47.

:17:47. > :17:57.kilometres. And it is headed by the winner of this year 's -- the green

:17:57. > :17:58.

:17:58. > :18:08.jersey holder of this year 's Tour to France. Peter Sagan. -- Tour de

:18:08. > :18:10.

:18:10. > :18:18.France. You would imagine him to be pushing into the top 15. Plenty of

:18:18. > :18:24.flat roads but I would have been surprised to see him drop by on Box

:18:24. > :18:32.Hill. What about these? 16 kilometres. Have they got any chance

:18:32. > :18:37.of staying awake? It is very slim. 16 kilometres, normally the Temple

:18:37. > :18:46.would be about 1.5 minutes, especially with riders like this.

:18:46. > :18:51.tempo. Saying that, it is twisting, it is harder for the peloton to put

:18:51. > :18:57.any big damage into any group like this. If it was big, open, straight

:18:57. > :19:02.regards, then they would have no chance at all. Climbing out of

:19:02. > :19:08.Wimbledon at the moment and heading towards Wimbledon Common. Yoann

:19:08. > :19:16.Offredo. Doing all of the work at this point? Yes, he is just

:19:16. > :19:26.fighting. I do not know his style well and perhaps that is how he

:19:26. > :19:27.

:19:27. > :19:34.writes. He is certainly pulling faces. Trying to wrap himself in.

:19:34. > :19:39.will be hurting as they head up the hill out of Wimbledon and Yoann

:19:39. > :19:49.Offredo is doing a monstrous turn on the front. The peloton is still in

:19:49. > :19:55.his way. 51 seconds. Still can be caught, but they are doing well to

:19:56. > :20:01.stay out this long. That tailwind is certainly helping. The All-England

:20:01. > :20:10.club in the distance. The scene of that great day for Andy Murray not

:20:10. > :20:15.so long ago. Finally, a British winner for London. Heading straight

:20:15. > :20:24.line onto Hockney High Street before going over the bridge, over the

:20:24. > :20:34.Thames. Back with the race as it goes out of Wimbledon. Out of

:20:34. > :20:45.

:20:45. > :20:50.They have that wild card place and they have been running well. One of

:20:50. > :20:56.their riders nearly won the race in Lyon. That would have been the

:20:56. > :21:01.biggest race of his life, I a mile. He was so close, attacking, and was

:21:01. > :21:06.finally swept away. The French were desperate for a winner. They did not

:21:06. > :21:12.have one for a number of years. happened, the irony, was it was the

:21:12. > :21:22.French group behind that were doing all of the damage to bring him back.

:21:22. > :21:24.

:21:24. > :21:32.It was an Italian who won that stage. Great win. On the left-hand

:21:32. > :21:37.side of Yoann Offredo. And the gap is starting to come down. Just over

:21:37. > :21:44.half of a minute. This was that climb where they did lose a little

:21:44. > :21:52.bit of time coming out of Wimbledon. This rider, we're not sure who that

:21:52. > :22:01.is, from the French squad. We need to see his number. Whoever it is, he

:22:01. > :22:10.is trying hard. Again, he is destined to only do one thing and

:22:10. > :22:20.that this be the carrot. That is Christophe Laborie. And the other

:22:20. > :22:23.

:22:23. > :22:33.rider, I think that was Andrea Di Corrado. Really trying to bring the

:22:33. > :22:45.

:22:45. > :22:50.race together for his team. Bardiani Valvole. Turning in, just. These two

:22:50. > :22:57.riders, they have done all that they can. They cannot hold anything back,

:22:57. > :23:01.they have to just ride as hard as they can. I think so! Just to give

:23:01. > :23:06.you some idea, if they turn right, they would be heading into

:23:06. > :23:14.Southfields. But they will not be doing that, they will go down the

:23:14. > :23:22.hill. Into Hockney High Street. That will be in the next couple of High

:23:22. > :23:28.Street. -- next couple of minutes. We still have two riders out in

:23:28. > :23:36.front in this race. And the crowd is growing all the time at the finish.

:23:36. > :23:43.It is a beautiful afternoon. It is not too hot. Mice, summer sunshine.

:23:43. > :23:53.And Yoann Offredo, the Frenchman, on the front. As he has been for most

:23:53. > :23:59.of the ride, actually. Since they came from Oxhill. As I mentioned

:23:59. > :24:05.before, he has had some decent results before. 26 years old. He

:24:05. > :24:15.came through the system, through the ranks, and turned professional back

:24:15. > :24:15.

:24:15. > :24:25.into thousands died. And the rider with him, Zico Waeytens, he is a

:24:25. > :24:26.

:24:26. > :24:32.second year professional and just 21 years old. Team Sky up there, also.

:24:32. > :24:40.Ben Swift still is in with a shout? He is. Matt Goss still has his man

:24:40. > :24:44.in there. He will be important on this finishing straight. If they can

:24:44. > :24:51.get themselves into the right position. Matt Goss did not get

:24:51. > :24:56.himself into the opening stages in Italy but I feel it is formed must

:24:56. > :25:06.have improved since then. He did underperform. He did not look that

:25:06. > :25:08.

:25:08. > :25:13.great. But here... Heading down. Team Sky on the front. -- here is

:25:14. > :25:19.Yoann Offredo. Just 20 seconds. It is hard to see that being anywhere

:25:19. > :25:29.near enough. Still with 11 kilometres left to go. But goodness

:25:29. > :25:29.

:25:29. > :25:39.me, it will feel like 111 for these riders at the front. It is about 50%

:25:39. > :25:39.

:25:39. > :26:29.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 49 seconds

:26:29. > :26:39.of the margin that they would rather have. If they had double that

:26:39. > :26:54.

:26:54. > :26:56.advantage, it is in the balance. Motoring along the High Street, the

:26:57. > :26:59.peloton is behind them. It is game up for these, pretty much. They

:26:59. > :27:02.normally would have been taken out by now. Those vehicles need to be

:27:02. > :27:05.moved out of the way. Just about to go over the Thames. Here we are. The

:27:05. > :27:15.peloton is starting to jostle for is Asian. They want to bring this back.

:27:15. > :27:17.

:27:18. > :27:23.They want to set up that Gallup for their man. We have been talking

:27:23. > :27:31.about these other riders, we do not know if Peter Sagan is still there

:27:31. > :27:34.or Matt Goss. Ben Swift is still there. Absolutely. And hundred and

:27:34. > :27:39.Nicola Boem, from their point of view, and hundred and N Post

:27:39. > :27:48.ChainReaction is pretty swift. He is. He would be one of their next

:27:48. > :27:58.options. But he is certainly not a sprinter. He is normally the leader,

:27:58. > :28:10.

:28:11. > :28:15.that man. Up towards Fulham Broadway. Just hanging on why their

:28:15. > :28:20.fingertips. Yoann Offredo will fight to the last but he will not cross

:28:20. > :28:24.the line in first place in London today, despite his best efforts. He

:28:24. > :28:32.had to avoid the traffic lights, that young Belgian behind him. That

:28:33. > :28:38.was quite lucky. Hanging on. That would not have looked very good,

:28:38. > :28:44.wrapped around the traffic light! After all that they have done! Here

:28:44. > :28:54.is the peloton, about to catch them. Heading up Kings Road. Heading into

:28:54. > :29:04.

:29:04. > :29:11.London. Only two riders at the front, that is not normal. That is

:29:11. > :29:21.not what we would normally expect to see. Starting to move up. The

:29:21. > :29:22.

:29:22. > :29:28.British domestic teams, they are not frightened of this race. Christoph

:29:28. > :29:37.Schweizer, they have got two riders at the front of that peloton. This

:29:37. > :29:44.is a pinch point. Seven kilometres left to go. Heading into central

:29:44. > :29:51.London. They are not far from the bridge. And it is still Yoann

:29:51. > :29:58.Offredo in front. With Zico Waeytens. Clinging onto this most

:29:58. > :30:06.slender of Leeds. But 6.8 kilometres is too far for them to go to stand a

:30:06. > :30:16.chance of staying in front. Just that little anxious look behind.

:30:16. > :30:17.

:30:17. > :30:21.Contrasting styles between them. There is two years of difference.

:30:21. > :30:31.But that pedalling style, the delivery and his power, completely

:30:31. > :30:52.

:30:52. > :31:02.different. It would be good to look at the peloton, so we can actually

:31:02. > :31:02.

:31:02. > :35:47.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 49 seconds

:35:47. > :35:57.mortar. They are moving towards the finish, 1.6 kilometres. The crowd

:35:57. > :36:01.

:36:01. > :36:09.gathered in their thousands. What a sprint this is going to be. Who has

:36:09. > :36:15.a chance? There is not a lot of room out there. Garmin Sharp are still

:36:16. > :36:18.riding on the front. There is no sign of Orica Greenedge. FDJ have

:36:18. > :36:28.plenty of blue shirts. There is no sign of anyone being really

:36:28. > :36:29.

:36:29. > :36:34.dominant. There is no team taking it up, it is all individuals.

:36:34. > :36:44.Vacansoleil have a couple of riders. There are some of the Garmin Sharp

:36:44. > :36:48.

:36:48. > :36:52.riders there. Ben Swift is still in with a chance. They are through

:36:52. > :36:59.Admiralty Argent into the finishing straight. Who will get the upper

:36:59. > :37:08.hand? Inside the final 500 metres. Ben Swift has work to do. Francaise

:37:08. > :37:18.Des Jeux on the front. Vacansoleil are getting involved. 250 metres to

:37:18. > :37:27.

:37:27. > :37:32.go. The victory goes to a Arnaud Demarg Francaise Des Jeux. Arnaud

:37:32. > :37:36.Demarg wins the sprint on the Mall. It all came down to a gallop after

:37:36. > :37:46.five hours and seven minutes in the saddle. Arnaud Demarg takes the

:37:46. > :37:50.

:37:50. > :37:59.victory. Water ride. Water ride by his team, and he delivers. Where was

:37:59. > :38:06.Peter Sagan, where was Matt Goss? That was an incredible ride by his

:38:06. > :38:09.team. They really did commit. Swift was in a decent position in

:38:09. > :38:18.the last couple of kilometres, but they were too far by coming up the

:38:18. > :38:24.Mall. It was a nice white, straight finish. It was all about desertion.

:38:24. > :38:28.We can just see the Sky helmets a bit further back. Ben Swift is

:38:28. > :38:38.shouting at his team-mate to try and encourage him. He needed to be

:38:38. > :38:43.

:38:43. > :38:47.delivered earlier. I think Sasha McDonnell has had to settle for

:38:47. > :38:53.second place in London again. It was Sacha Modolo in second place, I am

:38:53. > :39:01.sure of that. That was a very committed and organised lead out

:39:01. > :39:07.train from FDJ. It was a great display from that team. The whole

:39:07. > :39:13.team, having of radio up the road later on. There we are, Arnaud

:39:13. > :39:19.Demarg crossing the line, and Sacha Modolo in second place. Arnaud

:39:19. > :39:29.Demarg is a bright young prospect. He won the world under 23 road race

:39:29. > :39:31.

:39:31. > :39:36.a couple of years ago. He won half a dozen races last year. He had three

:39:36. > :39:41.or four wins leading into the summer, it wins before today. He is

:39:41. > :39:46.not a rider who has come from nowhere. Arnaud Demarg with the

:39:46. > :39:50.victory here. There is David Millar. It was great to see him coming

:39:51. > :39:56.towards the front on Box Hill, and also within the last couple of

:39:56. > :40:05.kilometres. But Arnaud Demarg, the former world champion at under 23

:40:05. > :40:07.level, secures what is probably the biggest victory of his career. It is

:40:07. > :40:13.his biggest professional victory in terms of the publicity surrounding

:40:13. > :40:20.the race. The course proved difficult to separate the riders. We

:40:20. > :40:26.headed riders in a breakaway group. The remnants of that group were

:40:26. > :40:35.swept up as we came off Box Hill. As usual, there were lots of

:40:36. > :40:38.counterattacks and hard riding. But the smart money throughout the race,

:40:39. > :40:41.particularly the longer it went on, was that it was likely to end in a

:40:42. > :40:46.sprint finish. The key question for us was that we were not sure who was

:40:46. > :40:53.there to contest that sprint finish, to be honest with you. In the end,

:40:53. > :40:58.it was Arnaud Demarg two came out on top. We just saw Andrew Tennant

:40:58. > :41:08.going through, one of the Madison Genesis riders. It has been a great

:41:08. > :41:12.

:41:12. > :41:18.success, this festival. 20,000 today to part in the London-Surrey 100.

:41:18. > :41:28.The race itself followed on from the sportive riders. Finally it resulted

:41:28. > :41:31.

:41:32. > :41:38.in a French bakery for Arnaud Demarg, of FDJ. -- victory. Arnaud

:41:38. > :41:45.Demarg taking the win, to celebrate victory in the London-Surrey

:41:45. > :41:50.Classic. Rob Hayles has come to the

:41:50. > :41:55.commentary box to join me in this invasion position. We spoke about

:41:55. > :42:01.the bunch sprint in the end. As far as predictions, it was the only

:42:01. > :42:11.thing that was right. It was. What an incredible team job. FDJ were

:42:11. > :42:21.

:42:21. > :42:27.great. They got Dominique Rollin up the road to start with. Then Yoann

:42:27. > :42:34.Offredo, and that took the pressure off his team-mates. Poor old Sky,

:42:34. > :42:42.they got slightly deaf instead. -- they got slightly distanced.

:42:42. > :42:46.Swift was too far back. The lead out was slightly messy. Yes, it was not

:42:46. > :42:55.the Classic sort of sprint that you would expect to see by all the big

:42:55. > :43:00.teams, because there were no big teams in the end. Was Matt Goss in

:43:00. > :43:03.their? Was Peter Sagan in the? It was difficult to tell. You would

:43:03. > :43:13.imagine that Matt Goss was there because of the way that Orica

:43:13. > :43:16.

:43:16. > :43:20.Greenedge were riding, so strong. Let's go back to afraid of. Keep it

:43:20. > :43:25.in a massive dig at the front. did not think he was going to come

:43:25. > :43:29.off the front. The young Belgian rider that was with him, we were

:43:29. > :43:34.saying, he is not coming through, but I think that was because he

:43:34. > :43:39.could not come through. I think afraid was there for his team

:43:39. > :43:46.leader, his sprinter. He was not that concerned. He was not riding

:43:46. > :43:52.for the victory. If you take it back to Box Hill, which is where it

:43:53. > :43:58.started to get interesting, the peloton were not really getting

:43:58. > :44:03.anywhere, and David Millar put in an attack. From there, the whole race

:44:04. > :44:06.opened up? Yes, David Millar put the cat amongst the pigeons. He tried to

:44:06. > :44:14.distance the sprinters, and it looked like he did a pretty good job

:44:15. > :44:21.of that. It is not just the climb, it is the false flat. Box Hill is

:44:21. > :44:27.the catalyst for that. David Millar rode it a few times last year, so he

:44:27. > :44:36.knows the claim well. He knows where to deliver. He delivered, he ignited

:44:36. > :44:40.the race. He was not the sprinters that we expected to cross the line

:44:40. > :44:42.first, but in terms of the racing, first, but in terms of the racing,

:44:42. > :44:52.it was great. There is plenty more great Olympic sport coming up in the

:44:52. > :44:52.

:44:52. > :45:40.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 49 seconds

:45:40. > :45:48.year with RideLondon, the 9th of August and the 10th of August, the

:45:48. > :45:57.open ballot takes place on August 12 and closes at the end -- beginning

:45:57. > :46:02.of 2014. Make sure you can get your entries in sin. Today was very much

:46:02. > :46:10.about the Elite men but yesterday evening was about the woman, the

:46:11. > :46:15.women's Grand Prix. A 1.3 mile loop. We can catch up with this in the

:46:15. > :46:25.closing stages. Laura Trott in the centre of the picture. Moving to the

:46:25. > :46:29.

:46:30. > :46:39.left in the glasses. Danny King, in second place. We have just over one

:46:40. > :46:51.

:46:51. > :46:56.can set up this sprint for Danny King or Laura Trott. It does not

:46:56. > :47:01.look as if these three riders will stay away. It is quite a long way.

:47:01. > :47:05.Particularly with that peloton bearing down. It could be set up for

:47:05. > :47:15.each amended sprint finish in just over one lap. We have those leaders

:47:15. > :47:26.

:47:26. > :47:33.joining us. 206 to Tom Scully right hydra. -- Anna Schnitzmeier. It is a

:47:33. > :47:41.very slender advantage. The national junior champion, Anna Christian,

:47:41. > :47:45.that is a great ride from her. is just an amazing cried, and that

:47:45. > :47:54.is not enough to keep you going, well... That was very encouraging.

:47:54. > :48:00.-- crowd. This will be some final lap. I do not think that these three

:48:00. > :48:07.riders will test. That hungry pack will gobble them up. Katie

:48:07. > :48:11.Colclough, and then Hannah Barnes also in third place. She will make

:48:11. > :48:21.sure that she is in the right position to test that potential

:48:21. > :48:21.

:48:21. > :48:27.sprint finish. Anna Schnitzmeier, from Wiggle Honda, in the middle of

:48:27. > :48:33.that group. Fabulous effort from these riders. They have got their

:48:33. > :48:40.timing right. They have put those sprinters in a very good position.

:48:40. > :48:45.Just heading past Horse Guards Parade, one or two of those riders

:48:45. > :48:49.choosing the split in the road, some road furniture to negotiate, some

:48:49. > :48:56.speed bumps along this track. can see some lumps in the middle of

:48:56. > :49:06.the road. And those final tense moments, the final lap. Add a number

:49:06. > :49:12.

:49:12. > :49:21.of riders still in contention, all of those big names at the front.

:49:21. > :49:29.Emily Collins. Racing straight in. And there was a crash. One of those

:49:30. > :49:34.Wiggle Honda riders, Jo Rowsell, she was involved. Five riders taken out.

:49:34. > :49:42.Meanwhile, back at the front, Emily Collins from New Zealand is leading

:49:42. > :49:51.the way. Jo Rowsell has fallen heavily. Here is that crash once

:49:51. > :49:53.again. And we can see that very nasty fall for several riders,

:49:53. > :50:00.including Joanna Rowsell, the world and Olympic champion. That was

:50:00. > :50:06.heavy. She went straight over. I would not be surprised if that was

:50:06. > :50:13.serious. About 400 metres left to go, into that finishing straight.

:50:13. > :50:20.They can see that line. But there are still 300 metres left to go.

:50:20. > :50:25.Emily Collins in front. Hannah Barnes is just biding her time.

:50:25. > :50:32.Danny King in the picture and she has got Laura Trott. This is where

:50:32. > :50:39.they will start to open up. Emily Collins will not get it. Laura Trott

:50:39. > :50:43.is coming through the centre! And Laura Trott takes the win! Fantastic

:50:43. > :50:45.sprint at The Mall! And right in front of Buckingham Palace. The

:50:45. > :50:53.ambassador for this race, Laura Trott takes the win that most of

:50:53. > :50:57.this crowd have come to see. It was slightly shortened but that was a

:50:58. > :51:02.spectacular finish. Very hard race to judge with that headwind and it

:51:02. > :51:07.was a very long wait to the finish line. Laura Trott came off the wheel

:51:07. > :51:11.early. No wonder she is patting Danny King on the back, she was a

:51:11. > :51:16.great leader. She is a dream leader and she was in that perfect

:51:16. > :51:24.desertion. Pure desire and will to win that she got to that finish line

:51:24. > :51:29.first. Hannah Barnes was not far away. She rode a soup per race.

:51:29. > :51:39.Laura Trott had superb support from Wiggle Honda. Teamwork really came

:51:39. > :51:43.

:51:43. > :51:53.into play. -- super race. Danny King, after that great lead, in

:51:53. > :51:56.

:51:56. > :52:04.fourth place. And then to G8 macro. -- Julie Erskine. Laura Trott joins

:52:04. > :52:09.me. You had to win? I felt like I had to. I did not want to let

:52:09. > :52:15.credential line. I felt like the entire family was behind me. And I

:52:16. > :52:22.pulled it off. You did not... You would doing lots of things, was at

:52:22. > :52:27.ethical to focus? It was and I did not know how this was going to go.

:52:27. > :52:34.On Saturday morning, I did the same. Ideally not know how I would feel,

:52:34. > :52:39.which is not like me. The team rode amazingly, we went in with the

:52:39. > :52:46.attitude of attacking a lot more, unlike a couple of weeks ago, when

:52:46. > :52:56.we just road. More aggressive and trying to be more aggressive and

:52:56. > :52:57.

:52:57. > :53:04.Danny King was the perfectly at the we knew? For sure. I put my life in

:53:04. > :53:13.her hands. I totally believe in her. It could not have come any better. I

:53:13. > :53:22.just was shouting, go! And she just went and it opened up. Perfect!

:53:22. > :53:24.Hannah Barnes kept you at the nocturnal. It was quite good. It is

:53:24. > :53:29.nice that people can have relationships like that. It just

:53:29. > :53:35.makes racing a large better. What did you make of that performance?

:53:35. > :53:42.Nice teamwork from Wiggle Honda? Typical Laura Trott. Hands in the

:53:42. > :53:51.air. For me, it is not just Laura Trott, it is the way that you come

:53:52. > :54:00.together as a unit. As we have seen with the men, with FDJ. You seem to

:54:00. > :54:04.enjoy this too much, for my liking! You should be under duress! It is

:54:04. > :54:08.exactly that, we just get on so well. Especially with Danny and

:54:09. > :54:15.Joanna. They would do anything for me and I would do the same back and

:54:16. > :54:23.I guess that pays off in the end. She is doing good. Knowing Joanna,

:54:23. > :54:28.she will be back in ten days. Your father has been in on the act. How

:54:28. > :54:34.did he get on in the London 100? said he wanted to do under five

:54:34. > :54:42.hours. And he did five hours and ten minutes. The men's race was

:54:42. > :54:52.fantastic, surprise winner from France. It was a perfectly judged

:54:52. > :55:10.

:55:10. > :55:14.finish. How did you judge that? TRANSLATION:. He is very happy with

:55:14. > :55:21.that race. His team-mates did a very good job in putting him into the

:55:21. > :55:31.perfect position. Very happy. Your team-mate, Yoann Offredo, did a very

:55:31. > :55:45.

:55:45. > :55:51.good job for a long time? TRANSLATION: the team did very well.

:55:51. > :55:56.They were super. And I know that you just said how pleased you were to

:55:56. > :56:06.win with that beautiful finish. does this compare with the shone so

:56:06. > :56:40.

:56:40. > :56:46.lazy? -- with Paris? Baggy! He could He has had some good placings and

:56:46. > :56:56.one or two wins along the way. That is an excellent result for that

:56:56. > :57:03.

:57:03. > :57:09.French squad. Second place, in the green... The Italian rider. He was

:57:10. > :57:19.second to Cavendish this year in Italy. And among his wins, six

:57:20. > :57:22.

:57:22. > :57:32.stages in China. Sacha Modolo. And after a good lead from his French

:57:32. > :57:33.

:57:33. > :57:43.team-mates, the former world under 23, Arnaud Demarg. With his ninth

:57:43. > :57:47.

:57:47. > :57:52.win of the year. Andy Flowers go to today's winner, Arnaud Demarg, and

:57:52. > :57:58.21 years of age, he is a rider of whom we shall hear a lot more in the

:57:58. > :58:05.future. It is a Frenchman who has come out on top in the Mall this

:58:05. > :58:13.afternoon. That was a great performance and a great weekend. If

:58:13. > :58:21.you have been as bad, we have something that might help you.

:58:27. > :58:35.racing. Push as hard as you can. Keep coming back for more. We want

:58:35. > :58:41.to inspire all generations. And we mean all generations. We want to

:58:41. > :58:46.inspire you and we want you to get inspired. If you want to get

:58:46. > :58:51.involved in any others boards, that is the website. It has been quite a

:58:52. > :58:55.weekend? It has been amazing, the weather has been kind, the amount of

:58:55. > :59:00.people out on the spikes, the amount of people who have been YouTube

:59:00. > :59:08.bicycles, the youngsters getting involved, and Elite performances,

:59:08. > :59:11.Laura Trott wedding, Arnaud Demarg winning. Hopefully this is the start

:59:11. > :59:21.of something much bigger and better in the future. What about Laura

:59:21. > :59:23.

:59:23. > :59:28.Trott? She really is a great role model. She is young enough for many

:59:28. > :59:35.schoolchildren to actually relate to, I think. And that is the big

:59:35. > :59:39.thing. She is what she is. There is no edge to her, that is her

:59:39. > :59:44.character, and she put yourself out there and she is so true and honest.

:59:44. > :59:52.And the way that she rides, if you look at, you see her on that bike,

:59:52. > :59:58.amazing, great. Thank you very much. The next cycling on the BBC is

:59:58. > :00:03.the World Road Championships. you can see that live from Florence

:00:03. > :00:07.and coverage is across the BBC from the 22nd of September, with Bradley

:00:07. > :00:15.Wiggins and Chris Froome. That should be great. So that is it from
