:00:00. > :00:40.Hello, and welcome to our first instalment of very late night drama

:00:41. > :00:43.from the 2016 BDO darts World Championship. We start with a match

:00:44. > :00:44.involving an American returning here to the

:00:45. > :00:50.involving an American returning here to the big stage for the first time

:00:51. > :00:53.in 24 years - Larry Butler found himself up against a very proud

:00:54. > :00:57.Gloucesterman making his debut, James Hurrell. Your commentary on

:00:58. > :01:09.this one comes from John Rawling and Vassos Alexander.

:01:10. > :01:12.Andy Fordham watching on, The Viking, former champion. Great

:01:13. > :01:21.bloke. Done his fair share of autograph

:01:22. > :01:23.signing today, and eabd wanting to get their photograph -- everybody

:01:24. > :01:27.wanting to get their photograph with him. An affable a fella as you could

:01:28. > :01:30.wish to meet. I wonder if he can hear me! Managing to smile happily

:01:31. > :01:51.with a camera right in his face. Butler doubling his set tally at the

:01:52. > :01:52.World Championships - almost a generation, 24 years, after he won

:01:53. > :02:05.his first set. First to three sets, let me remind

:02:06. > :02:10.you. Takes you through into the first round, where Ryan 'Lou' Reed

:02:11. > :02:46.awaits the winner. Better from Hurrell. A few American

:02:47. > :02:50.fans over here. Or at least a flag! Maybe, yeah. Unusual flag to have,

:02:51. > :02:50.though, if you're not sort of cheering them on.

:02:51. > :03:34.LAUGHS Very nice indeed! Well, that was

:03:35. > :03:42.pretty clinical, wasn't it? A 101 checkout. Butler taking the early

:03:43. > :03:43.advantage in a leg which looked as if he was struggling in. But Hurrell

:03:44. > :04:15.couldn't capitalise. Good response by Hurrell. The pair

:04:16. > :04:21.of them averaging very similarly - around about 82, their match

:04:22. > :04:26.averages. Checkout percentages for both below 30%.

:04:27. > :05:24.Went for the bull's-eye - that didn't go well. He's left himself on

:05:25. > :05:57.no finish - 173. So Butler concedes control here.

:05:58. > :06:05.101 and now an 80! Might not be scoring heavily, but he's checking

:06:06. > :06:07.out well now. Keep knocking those out, it's going to be difficult to

:06:08. > :06:18.beat. At one stage, he'd only hit one out

:06:19. > :06:29.of 11 doubles. He's now hit three in a row, Larry Butler. The 58-year-old

:06:30. > :06:31.from Dayton, Ohio... Moves to within a leg of a two-set lead. There will

:06:32. > :06:53.be a short break after two sets. Hurrell did have a chance at the

:06:54. > :06:56.start of this leg. To pressure the Butler throw, only 26 scored with

:06:57. > :07:04.his first visit, but he couldn't do it. This is better.

:07:05. > :07:22.Unlucky. Maybe a new night, maybe a new stem as well. That is his first

:07:23. > :07:35.maximum from Larry Butler. That has done some damage to Hurrell's hopes.

:07:36. > :07:41.Sharon Butler cheering on her husband. Getting rightfully excited.

:07:42. > :07:52.There she is. Well, she's enjoying this. 180, 135 - just 60 left for

:07:53. > :07:55.the set. Hurrell's nowhere. It's turning out to be a very comfortable

:07:56. > :07:58.exercise, this, so far, for Larry Butler. You certainly wouldn't bet

:07:59. > :08:02.against him getting this. Good marker.

:08:03. > :08:51.Has at least left a finish, and not a bad one - 126.

:08:52. > :09:04.He's missed five for the set. But not six. Easy as you like, Larry

:09:05. > :09:09.Butler moving into a two-set lead. Gloucestershire man on the Auki. --

:09:10. > :09:14.oche, hoping to come back from two sets down. It can be done, of

:09:15. > :09:21.course. But not with darts like that. He's just looked as though

:09:22. > :09:24.he's been maybe just a wee bit intimidated by the atmosphere

:09:25. > :09:28.tonight, James Hurrell. He's not producing the game that he knows

:09:29. > :09:39.he's capable of delivering - not yet, anyway.

:09:40. > :09:53.Important he gets his nose ahead in this first leg with the darts.

:09:54. > :10:10.Good focus, good last dart for the second visit in a row from Hurrell.

:10:11. > :10:21.He has got his nose ahead in this leg.

:10:22. > :10:27.He's got every opportunity to take this one now.

:10:28. > :10:33.He needed the treble 18 there. Went to wrong bed, so no checkout

:10:34. > :11:27.opportunity with his next visit. Hasn't had a dart in the double for

:11:28. > :11:33.the second half. He'd enjoy that. Butler didn't really put him under

:11:34. > :11:37.too much pressure there. I think the break maybe just acting the wrong

:11:38. > :11:42.way for him. That's more like it. You can see that when you have the

:11:43. > :11:45.commercial breaks - for somebody who's going well, it can just

:11:46. > :11:48.interrupt the momentum. For somebody who's struggling - as Hurrell was -

:11:49. > :11:52.it gives you a chance to regroup with darts like that. That's his

:11:53. > :12:00.first maximum of the match, and he's throwing his best darts of the match

:12:01. > :12:03.here. He does look refocused. He did look really nervy at times in that

:12:04. > :12:12.second set. The first set was better. Good response from Butler.

:12:13. > :12:14.Two ton-40s and a maximum at the start of this leg. That's more like

:12:15. > :12:18.it, really. It's the World Championship!

:12:19. > :12:25.He didn't like that last one, did he?

:12:26. > :12:52.You sometimes see that in these preliminary round matches - 140,

:12:53. > :12:54.180, 140, then 45, 22. That leaves it more enticing - a makeable

:12:55. > :13:06.checkout, on 136. 136, then, for Hurrell, for 2-0.

:13:07. > :13:35.Great first dart. Almost threw that last dart away in

:13:36. > :13:44.frustration. Tops for Hurrell for 2-0. Tens... That's good! He's

:13:45. > :13:47.getting charged up now! Having said that he wasn't doing himself

:13:48. > :13:55.justice, he's come back from the break looking like a different guy!

:13:56. > :14:00.The Hillbilly is getting into the groove! Funny what five minutes of

:14:01. > :14:15."me" time backstage can do. Talking to himself, trying to keep

:14:16. > :14:18.himself focused and charged up. Different people do it different

:14:19. > :14:22.ways. Some people try to get rid of that nervous energy. Others try to

:14:23. > :14:27.harness it. It looks as though that's what Hurrell's trying to get

:14:28. > :14:32.into. Big, big mountain back, though. But he's got a chance of

:14:33. > :14:51.taking this third set here. Butler's lost his scoring

:14:52. > :14:56.completely. 41 and 41. He's lost the plot a bit, in this set - shaking

:14:57. > :14:57.his head there at the back, just practising his delivery, practising

:14:58. > :15:07.his throw. That's poor from Hurrell. Butler's just taken his eye off the

:15:08. > :15:17.ball a little, you suspect. Butler's been serving up some rubbish.

:15:18. > :15:27.May be And nobody is more aware of that than the man himself.

:15:28. > :15:33.Hurrell, though, is staggering as he comes towards the winning line.

:15:34. > :15:34.Surely not going to let him back into this set. First to three,

:15:35. > :15:46.remember, wins the match. Just to continue that Butler analogy

:15:47. > :15:53.- he's opened the door. Hurrell hasn't come through.

:15:54. > :16:02.And now, Larry Butler... His second maximum. ..Showing why he is the man

:16:03. > :16:06.from the USA, why he was top of those rankings. Why he qualified for

:16:07. > :16:39.Lakeside. This can be done. Hurrell should have put him away

:16:40. > :17:00.here, but hasn't done so. We have seen Larry Butler faltering

:17:01. > :17:15.on his doubles under pressure. Tops from Butler - good dart. 7 out

:17:16. > :17:20.of 23 on the checkouts. Larry Butler narrows the gap in what could, if he

:17:21. > :17:25.wins it, be the final set. Well, he broke the throw as he needed to, to

:17:26. > :17:30.extend the set. He has the darts in this leg. Been in really good form

:17:31. > :17:39.in the last year or so, Larry Butler. Qualifying for this a head

:17:40. > :17:42.of Jim Widmayer, who was the American representative at the top

:17:43. > :17:46.of their ranking list for the previous two years.

:17:47. > :17:51.Reached the final of the World Masters, Butler. He did. Grave an

:17:52. > :17:57.impressive list earlier on of the people who he swept past. Including

:17:58. > :18:25.the current champion, Scott Mitchell, and Wolfie, Martin Adams.

:18:26. > :18:33.He's won 14 ranking titles, Larry Butler.

:18:34. > :19:01.Very, very warm in this auditorium now. You can see the perspiration

:19:02. > :19:05.glistening on Larry Butler. Some of the players have really struggled

:19:06. > :19:20.with that today. It has been very warm.

:19:21. > :19:35.On a nice finish - Shanghai. Triple, single, double top.

:19:36. > :19:42.This is to square it off and put him within a leg of winning the match,

:19:43. > :20:10.with 120. Oh, dear. He looks angry at that aberration.

:20:11. > :20:24.Not far away from the bull. Not far away...

:20:25. > :20:37.He seemed to hurry that a bit. This is for the set.

:20:38. > :20:44.CHEERING His sizeable contingent of

:20:45. > :20:51.supporters roar their approval. That's a set back. 2-1 now - first

:20:52. > :20:53.to three will win this preliminary round match. Butler, though, with

:20:54. > :21:16.the darts and making a good start. Butler with the darts, in vigorated

:21:17. > :21:21.by the turnaround, looking to make a statement in this opening leg. No

:21:22. > :21:34.slip-ups. Could do with a treble 20 but can't find it.

:21:35. > :22:25.Butler still with the advantage of the throw.

:22:26. > :22:26.Well, the door is ajar for Hurrell. Three loose visits from Larry

:22:27. > :22:39.Butler. Again, Hurrell doesn't take

:22:40. > :22:47.advantage. He wanted to leap all over that, didn't he?

:22:48. > :22:55.Not great match, this, it has to be said. The args of both men are

:22:56. > :22:59.sub-80. Going anywhere in this tournament, you really want to be

:23:00. > :23:05.hitting the 90s-plus. Despite the fact that the W, of course - the win

:23:06. > :23:08.- is all that really matters, but you're not going to beat the big

:23:09. > :23:20.guns unless you can score more heavily than this.

:23:21. > :23:24.148 would be the highest of the tournament so far. Not far away.

:23:25. > :24:03.Hurrell now with a chance. 145. Things are getting critical for The

:24:04. > :24:10.Hillbilly, James Hurrell. Can't afford to lose a leg now. Did so,

:24:11. > :24:14.Butler would just have the darts to finish this off by a 3-1 margin.

:24:15. > :24:27.You'd have two chances at it, as well. 55 is not what Hurrell wanted.

:24:28. > :24:46.Sunglasses on, but the darts are far from dazzling just at the moment.

:24:47. > :24:55.The sort of match that needs a maximum or two, just to get everyone

:24:56. > :25:12.going. 140 is not a bad second-best. That's a serious physique.

:25:13. > :25:15.Butler's pinched the throw. He's ahead, despite the fact that Hurrell

:25:16. > :25:37.had the darts. Just not happening for James. Butler

:25:38. > :25:44.- six from here on the 180 to go two legs ahead. ..And edge closer to a

:25:45. > :25:50.place in the first round proper. That's a tonne of them... It's been

:25:51. > :25:59.a decent leg from him. Two tonnes and a 140.

:26:00. > :26:33.Big moment, this. Really big moment. You can't imagine he'll be offered

:26:34. > :26:39.another opportunity if he misses this 109.

:26:40. > :27:02.What a big dart! Lakeside comes alive! Well, good moment, that was.

:27:03. > :27:06.He steadied himself, puffed out his chest, and blasted it home.

:27:07. > :27:07.180! CHEERING

:27:08. > :27:32.His third of the match... Shame about the treble five, wasn't

:27:33. > :27:46.it... Tell you what, though - all of a

:27:47. > :27:52.sudden, the match has come to life. Long, long way, though, for Hurrell.

:27:53. > :28:00.Not quite the darts he had hoped for, but he's on a finish, of sorts.

:28:01. > :28:32.Hurrell well back. That's another poor visit for

:28:33. > :28:34.Butler. 180, 135, then 42 and 28. Still, Hurrell back on 315. Oh,

:28:35. > :28:56.dear. 25. 116 for the leg, for 2-1. Tops for the leg... Good darts. Good

:28:57. > :29:03.finishing. 116. And moving him within a leg of the match. 15-dart

:29:04. > :29:31.leg with two visits of under 50. Hurrell's Lakeside debut - it's a

:29:32. > :29:35.learning experience. He'll be stronger for having been here, and

:29:36. > :29:38.maybe offer more next time around. Larry Butler very much in the

:29:39. > :29:53.veteran category - 58 years old. He can close this out, even if

:29:54. > :30:09.Hurrell hangs onto his throw here. Oh, yes! How often do you see that?

:30:10. > :30:14.The arm freed up by the scoreboard? Kind of when you reach the final

:30:15. > :30:18.point of no return, as though, "Well, I'm heading for defeat -

:30:19. > :30:22.unless I can do it." He and he just gives you that bit of relaxation,

:30:23. > :30:24.and suddenly he's away and produces a three like that. Not a bad first

:30:25. > :30:51.dart, either. 6 darts from 86, but... Mustn't make

:30:52. > :31:00.an error. Must make sure he wins this leg.

:31:01. > :31:06.Didn't even give himself a dart at a double there. He will be back. That

:31:07. > :31:11.wasn't great from Hurrell. Butler, though, on 177 - he can do no more

:31:12. > :31:15.than try and get a decent score. One is not a great start, but the second

:31:16. > :31:17.two were. Must take this, for Hurrell. He's only going to get two

:31:18. > :31:33.darts at a double. Could have been his last dart at

:31:34. > :31:40.Lakeside this year. Well, well played, James Hurrell.

:31:41. > :31:47.So we move into the decisive leg here, with Butler with the darts

:31:48. > :31:53.again, but Hurrell just hanging on him. Does launch them, doesn't he,

:31:54. > :31:56.Larry? You never know, though - if Hurrell can find a way of nicking

:31:57. > :32:00.this leg, all of a sudden he's come from two sets down, he won't know

:32:01. > :32:06.how he done it, but we'll be into a deciding set. Big "if", though -

:32:07. > :32:13.he's going to need to find some trebles. Some great vantage points

:32:14. > :32:16.of the darts. The balcony not too far away from where we sit in our

:32:17. > :32:59.commentary box. 261 was what he needed to move into

:33:00. > :33:03.the next round. Stumbles... He'll be relieved to see Hurrell back on 346.

:33:04. > :33:32.Now Butler - 220 is what he needs. And he has six darts at it.

:33:33. > :33:40.Did well to thread that one through. He's left himself with Shanghai -

:33:41. > :33:48.the treble-single-double on 20s - to win the match.

:33:49. > :33:54.This could be Hurrell's final visit... But only if Butler takes

:33:55. > :34:02.out Shanghai 120. Hurrell breathes again. Hurrell -

:34:03. > :34:24.95. This is to square up the match. A little unlucky. Tops now... How

:34:25. > :34:29.about that! 95! He's back and roaring! What a terrific checkout!

:34:30. > :34:35.Somehow, he has clawed his way back into this match, and Larry Butler

:34:36. > :34:42.can only stand and think what might have been. How on earth are we into

:34:43. > :34:44.a deciding set? How on earth has this happened? But it has, you know?

:34:45. > :34:57.And he's got the darts. First to three legs by two clear

:34:58. > :35:04.legs. If it gets to 2-2, we go to sudden death. If it gets to 5-5,

:35:05. > :35:11.we're into a sudden-death leg. It's happened already today.

:35:12. > :35:31.Brilliant start from Butler. That's his fourth maximum of the match.

:35:32. > :35:50.We get a great view from up here in the commentary box. That's us.

:35:51. > :35:52.That's me! LAUGHS

:35:53. > :36:04.Hello, John's mum! Yeah, we are very lucky to be up

:36:05. > :36:12.here and watching the darting action.

:36:13. > :36:17.Me and Vassos trying to keep an eye on every little nuance of the match.

:36:18. > :36:55.No checkout for Butler. First blood to Larry Butler of the

:36:56. > :36:58.United States. You knew he meant business from the moment he started

:36:59. > :37:05.this deciding set with a maximum. And it's almost another, but a wild

:37:06. > :37:28.third dart. Still, a handy start. I'm not sure even James Hurrell

:37:29. > :37:34.knows how he's still alive in this match. From two sets down... He took

:37:35. > :37:39.his time to settle, didn't he? He did look as though he was a little

:37:40. > :37:42.bit fazed by it early on. He's kind of just grown in confidence as he's

:37:43. > :37:45.gone on. It was after that first little break when they left the

:37:46. > :37:51.stage when he was two sets down and he came back looking like a

:37:52. > :37:59.different guy. Having won the third set, he was a leg down in the

:38:00. > :38:03.second, Butler missed the shot at double top to go two legs up, and

:38:04. > :38:14.Hurrell needed a bull's-eye to check out 109 and hit it.

:38:15. > :38:20.Could've done with a treble there. Butler, despite stuttering somewhat,

:38:21. > :38:28.still has his nose ahead with the break, crucially.

:38:29. > :38:30.That's better! CHEERING

:38:31. > :38:43.Maximum number five. You have to say, well played, Larry

:38:44. > :38:45.Butler. In both legs so far in this deciding set, he has found the

:38:46. > :38:54.perfect three darts. He'd have been after a double 16, if

:38:55. > :38:55.he could have put that one away. Meanwhile, Hurrell can step up and

:38:56. > :39:13.put some pressure on. For the leg, and to move within one

:39:14. > :39:29.of the match... He's produced a bit of a Houdini act

:39:30. > :39:34.to get to this stage, has James Hurrell, but two legs down now - my

:39:35. > :39:35.goodness, he's got to really fly from here. Almost at the point where

:39:36. > :39:45.he can make no errors. He has the darts in this leg. First

:39:46. > :40:17.things first for Hurrell - just hold your throw.

:40:18. > :41:06.180 would make it look a bit healthier, Larry... He's had five of

:41:07. > :41:27.them. Decides to go down the 18 route.

:41:28. > :41:35.That's good. He's on 40. Butler can do no more than, well, try and get a

:41:36. > :41:37.big score, and then just hope - hope against hope. But he will still have

:41:38. > :41:50.the throw to close out the match. Hurrell to stay alive - yes, he's

:41:51. > :41:58.done it again. He will not go away, James Hurrell. Forcing Larry Butler

:41:59. > :42:04.from the USA, from Dayton, Ohio - The Eagle - to throw it out.

:42:05. > :42:11.Hurrell's finishing has been pretty handy. 47% - that's good.

:42:12. > :42:16.When he's had the opportunities, he's taken them. Hasn't been scoring

:42:17. > :42:23.heavily, but he's still hanging on in there. And if Butler can't close

:42:24. > :42:37.him out here, he'd have every chance.

:42:38. > :42:43.Opportunity for Hurrell. Must break the throw, remember. That's unlucky.

:42:44. > :43:00.Butler with his nose ahead, moving closer.

:43:01. > :43:21.Mounting tension in the air... It got to him a bit with that last

:43:22. > :43:28.dart. Still nip and tuck... The advantage is simply with the darts.

:43:29. > :43:52.Butler's not on a finish, but Hurrell is away, and Butler has six

:43:53. > :44:02.from here. I think that's a single one he's got

:44:03. > :44:18.there. 61, 94. What sort of pressure can Hurrell

:44:19. > :44:22.apply? Match point to Butler again. He's back on 217.

:44:23. > :44:40.Two darts, then, can do it for Larry Butler. Hurrell's not on a finish.

:44:41. > :44:43.He's got six, if he needs them. He'd like to just finish this match off.

:44:44. > :44:56.Not this time, though. He'll stare at the top bit of the

:44:57. > :45:02.board, for his first victory on the Lakeside stage, Larry Butler - 24

:45:03. > :45:06.years after his debut, when he lost to the defending champion, Dennis

:45:07. > :45:12.Priestly, in Round 1 - double top for Larry Butler, 58 years old of

:45:13. > :45:20.the USA - to win his first match at Lakeside! He was two sets up. The

:45:21. > :45:26.finishing line was in sight. And the The Butler eventually did it.

:45:27. > :45:31.Dutchman Matthew Medhurst was one of ten players making their debut in

:45:32. > :45:34.the men's draw for this year's Lakeside Country Club -- Lakeside

:45:35. > :45:40.World Championship, and he was up against a giant killer, Jeff Smith,

:45:41. > :45:43.the Canadian from 12 months ago, who raced through to the semifinals,

:45:44. > :45:47.upsetting Robbie Green in the quarters. Would he carry on where he

:45:48. > :45:52.left off in 2015? Let's find out. Your commentary comes from John

:45:53. > :45:58.Rawling and Tony Green. First to three. You know the format

:45:59. > :46:05.by now. What a great start! He's come out flying, Tony!

:46:06. > :46:15.Let's just settle down and see how it goes these first few darts, few

:46:16. > :46:25.legs. Let's sit back and relax and enjoy some top-class darts.

:46:26. > :46:28.Dutch darts, you don't need me to emphasise, are in a pretty good

:46:29. > :46:38.place at the moment. Matthew Medhurst comes from

:46:39. > :46:42.Ossenziel in the low countries. This is his Lakeside debut on - one of

:46:43. > :46:52.ten debutants here for this championship.

:46:53. > :47:00.Runner-up in 2015. Got some class. He got to the final, losing out to

:47:01. > :47:11.another Dutchman, Danny Blum. We've already seen that Jeff Smith

:47:12. > :47:18.seemingly thrives on this big stage. He's got to be able to replicate

:47:19. > :47:20.this year what he did last year... John Part keeps a very close check

:47:21. > :47:24.on his progress - something of a mentor to him. Yeah, a great friend

:47:25. > :47:33.of mine, great commentator. Had some great times together, John

:47:34. > :48:32.and I. Veryerdite individual. Confident piece of finishing.

:48:33. > :48:33.Settles the player down when you get you can get those early doubles

:48:34. > :49:06.without struggling. Well, it's the double Dutch, if

:49:07. > :49:11.nothing else. Certainly been a party atmosphere here today, hasn't it?

:49:12. > :49:17.There were a fair number of these people in at 11:00 this morning, and

:49:18. > :49:22.still going strong. Silencer of the clogs - is Jeff Smith going to be

:49:23. > :49:28.able to prove that one right? Not many clogs being worn in the

:49:29. > :49:29.Netherlands nowadays, really... Every seat's taken. Great

:49:30. > :49:37.atmosphere. They're not clogs. Soft and

:49:38. > :49:46.comfortable. Like slippers, really. Tall lad, isn't he, Matthew? Stands

:49:47. > :49:59.over six foot. Stark contrast to Jeff Smith, who's

:50:00. > :50:05.- tell you what, those who are old enough to recall, he looks like the

:50:06. > :50:50.old tennis player Ken Rosewall. I'm too young for that. Get on with it!

:50:51. > :50:56.Comes from New Brunswick. Calls himself The Silencer - he silenced

:50:57. > :51:00.one or two reputations last year, quietly going about his job and

:51:01. > :51:07.enjoying the moment. Maybe he can replicate it this time around.

:51:08. > :51:20.There's been some great champions from Canada. John Part, for one.

:51:21. > :51:29.He's had three BDO ranking title successes this year - Las Vegas

:51:30. > :51:38.Open, where he beat Big Darren Young, the Which City Open. Which

:51:39. > :51:41.And Richard Astan has given us one or two marvellous notes about these

:51:42. > :51:46.players. Jeff Smith was the 16th player in the last 30 years to reach

:51:47. > :52:42.the semis on his debut. How does he know that?!

:52:43. > :52:48.Matthew needs to get into this match, sharp-ish, or it's going to

:52:49. > :52:50.fly away from him. It's got a break at the end of this set. He could

:52:51. > :53:21.badly do with taking it. Compact little player, Jeff. No

:53:22. > :53:25.frills, not particularly demonstrative. Very, very

:53:26. > :53:25.well-organised. He looks like a bank manager.

:53:26. > :53:35.LAUGHS He's just not really quite got into

:53:36. > :53:47.this yet, Medhurst. Needs badly to hold his throw in

:53:48. > :53:52.this opening leg of the second set. He's not too bad - he's on 194. So

:53:53. > :53:57.he should be getting to the doubles first. He's not had a double yet.

:53:58. > :54:31.He's not had a shot to win a leg. No.

:54:32. > :55:14.He must have to get this, Matthew... Two darts would do it.

:55:15. > :55:19.Matthew's not scoring heavily enough. He's not got himself into a

:55:20. > :55:24.position where he can challenge for it. Smith's average is over 90, and

:55:25. > :55:32.Matthew Medhurst - only around about 77. That tells its own story. Yeah,

:55:33. > :55:39.he's getting the speed he wants for his throw, not being challenged by

:55:40. > :55:49.Medhurst. Things'll have to change. Good cover shot, and another.

:55:50. > :55:53.Fast and furious. It's got a nice, appealing pace to it, this match -

:55:54. > :56:08.good rhythm about it. Thinks a good game as well, does

:56:09. > :56:25.Smith. Annoyed at himself for letting that

:56:26. > :57:34.one slide by... Jeff Smith is just blowing him away.

:57:35. > :57:38.I think he's got to slow it down a little bit.

:57:39. > :57:46.You can see from the throw, he's got talent.

:57:47. > :57:56.This man is just the right size for darts. Up on the big stage. Big

:57:57. > :58:01.atmosphere. It's a lot different to a great deal of what he'll have

:58:02. > :58:06.experienced. His only BDO ranking title victory - the Italian grand

:58:07. > :58:11.masters in November 2014, Matthew Medhurst. I nearly said last year -

:58:12. > :58:17.I've got to get used to the idea we're in 2016, haven't I? Almost

:58:18. > :58:42.throwing out cornetoes at that time...

:58:43. > :58:47.Good vision, that, Tony. He's got time on his side, because Smith is

:58:48. > :58:50.well back, so Medhurst - if he's going to get into this set - then

:58:51. > :59:07.he's not going to get a much better chance than this.

:59:08. > :59:12.He decided not to go for double three, and busted it. He's had 119,

:59:13. > :59:31.137, 121 in that leg. Can he build on it, or is it just a

:59:32. > :59:38.token? Might have switched to the 18s then,

:59:39. > :00:03.but fancied the 20. These two do play at a similar sort

:00:04. > :00:07.of rate... Or even the long and the small...

:00:08. > :00:54.Either way... He takes it out again. His checking

:00:55. > :01:13.out has been impressive. Of course, Martin Adams particularly

:01:14. > :01:18.interested in this one because the winner of this pre-law match will

:01:19. > :01:23.face him in the first round. It is looking very much as though it's

:01:24. > :01:25.going to be the be spectacled Canadian, Jeff Smith. Because

:01:26. > :01:26.Matthew Medhurst, for whatever reason, just hasn't delivered so

:01:27. > :01:31.far. I think Smith would have rather

:01:32. > :01:46.carried on... We said earlier breaks can affect

:01:47. > :01:50.people both ways. It might give Medhurst a chance to regroup and

:01:51. > :01:55.focus better than he has done so far. Smith was on a roll, as Tony

:01:56. > :01:59.intimates there, and he would have liked to have continued sweeping

:02:00. > :02:02.towards the finishing line. Just watch - he's slowing down now...

:02:03. > :02:31.Good dart. Much better rhythm. Smith's really taken away from him.

:02:32. > :02:35.Smith's match average at the moment - 93.7. If he keeps that going, it

:02:36. > :02:42.would be the best that we've seen on the opening day.

:02:43. > :03:00.What is that, a 14-darter? Yeah. Matthew would have had a chance, as

:03:01. > :03:10.well, at a finish, if... He has settled down a little bit, Medhurst.

:03:11. > :03:22.Lose this one, and he's lost the match. Short and sweet...

:03:23. > :03:32.All the good work of that opening 140 in danger of being undone. To be

:03:33. > :03:40.honest, he's looking like a champion. Is Smith. I think it's

:03:41. > :03:46.worth a little waiver. I'm sure Martin Adams won't see it that way!

:03:47. > :03:49.But he really did throw very well last year until, for whatever

:03:50. > :03:54.reason, he was derailed against Scott Mitchell in the semis. Scott

:03:55. > :03:58.threw very well, but Jeff, for that particular match, didn't really show

:03:59. > :04:02.up, did he? Had he thrown as well as he had done in the previous rounds,

:04:03. > :04:08.he'd have given Scott a run for his money. I think he gave up when the

:04:09. > :04:24.big men came on last year. Medhurst just has to hold onto his

:04:25. > :04:28.throw here. That's good. Solid tonne. He's got a very good action.

:04:29. > :04:52.Full, flowing action. No finish for Smith. He'll come

:04:53. > :04:57.back, Medhurst, with 56 to square up the match. A very makeable,

:04:58. > :04:59.attainable checkout, that one. A steady tonne for Smith. Right...

:05:00. > :05:11.Cometh the moment, Matthew... That's more like it! Much more

:05:12. > :05:16.composed since coming back from that break. He's just regrouped,

:05:17. > :05:32.refocused, and he's looked altogether more purposeful.

:05:33. > :05:44.Didn't need that... Good dart... Fill 'em up!

:05:45. > :05:51.Another terrific visit for Smith. Two 140s moving in...

:05:52. > :06:04.Switched down to bull, and did so to great effect, hitting the big one -

:06:05. > :06:29.50. No great damage done, though. He's

:06:30. > :06:30.left it on his favourite double - double 16. Medhurst is way, way

:06:31. > :06:41.back. Brought him within a leg of a place

:06:42. > :06:45.in the first round against Martin Adams. Look at that finishing again

:06:46. > :06:52.- maintaining that impressive checkout rate - 8 out of 13 now, a

:06:53. > :06:54.62% checkout rate. He's a very talented player. He's using his

:06:55. > :07:06.head. He knows what he's doing. He's in

:07:07. > :07:10.charge of everything. He looks in good physical nick as well, doesn't

:07:11. > :07:13.he? That's no bad thing when you're up there in such a hot environment

:07:14. > :07:28.as this one. He stays the pace. A bit like Jockey Lawson, when he

:07:29. > :07:31.used to go running. Good old Jockey. Still think about you, mate. Used to

:07:32. > :07:37.run around the stage, didn't he? What a character he was...

:07:38. > :07:43.There was nothing textbook about the way in which he approached the game,

:07:44. > :07:59.but he had a following - and rightly so.

:08:00. > :08:07.He's not frightened of using the board...

:08:08. > :08:10.Medhurst is throwing to keep this match alive now. Smith wins this

:08:11. > :08:33.leg, and it's all over. He's 2-1 up. Good last dart, Tony. It was. He

:08:34. > :08:35.needed that. Still keeping his hopes alive, but only slightly. The flame

:08:36. > :09:25.flickers. His checking out was terrific. 64%

:09:26. > :09:29.ratio, and he's carried on where he left off last year. He is playing

:09:30. > :09:29.really well, and Martin Adams has got

:09:30. > :09:32.left off last year. He is playing really well, and Martin Adams has

:09:33. > :09:36.got a game on his hands. Russia's Anastasia Dobromyslova has won the

:09:37. > :09:39.women's title here at Lakeside three times, but standing in her way of a

:09:40. > :09:44.place in yet another major quarterfinal was a Dutch woman

:09:45. > :09:48.making her debut - Anca Zijlstra. Would her nerve hold on the big

:09:49. > :09:49.occasion? For your commentary on this one, Vassos Alexander and Tony

:09:50. > :10:51.Green. If it does get to two legs all,

:10:52. > :10:57.it'll be a sudden death. Whoever wins, wins. She will be very

:10:58. > :11:18.nervous, Anca Zijlstra. But she is doing well.

:11:19. > :11:31.Unlucky, just 60. She was a semifinalist last you, Anastasia. --

:11:32. > :11:40.last year, she reached six finals, seven if you include the one she

:11:41. > :11:49.won. A runner-up on six occasions. 100. There are a lot of tournaments

:11:50. > :12:09.now for the ladies. Lots of money to be had. Anastasia, you require 141.

:12:10. > :12:14.She needs a treble 20. Anca Zijlstra, she needs 95. Three

:12:15. > :12:38.darts. 13 four double extender for the

:12:39. > :12:42.first leg. -- 13 for the double. This is an 18 dart leg. Welcome to

:12:43. > :13:07.Lakeside. We saw Lisa Ashton earlier, really

:13:08. > :13:14.making a statement in her match. Anastasia, and Anca Zijlstra, so

:13:15. > :13:38.far, matching that, dart for dart. 140.

:13:39. > :14:08.Anastasia, you require 161. The runner-up watches on. She was the

:14:09. > :14:30.runner-up last year. 140, time, time, time, from Anastasia. -- ton.

:14:31. > :15:20.And tell you what, she is really getting into it, really getting some

:15:21. > :15:28.great scores. 134! Not bad for a first time.

:15:29. > :15:38.A really good standard so far. I think the men would be loved to be

:15:39. > :15:46.getting these scores. Both players are averaging north of 90.

:15:47. > :16:33.72 left for Anca Zijlstra. One the first set. -- one each for the first

:16:34. > :16:55.set. Double 12. How about that? A 14 dart leg.

:16:56. > :17:08.She is very good on the doubles. So far, so good, at any rate. Two out

:17:09. > :17:20.of two for the debutante from Holland. She is giving Anastasia

:17:21. > :17:27.something to think about. Anca Zijlstra lost to Tina Osborne last

:17:28. > :17:38.October, but she made it to Lakeside and the standby player. At 14 in the

:17:39. > :17:49.rankings, and no one was cheering louder then this player. Her

:17:50. > :17:50.colleague made it to the final. You know it is New Year when you made it

:17:51. > :18:27.to the darts. There are two of them, looking for

:18:28. > :18:38.another. There is her partner, Dave, applauding her effort, the third of

:18:39. > :18:47.the match already. 100. Anca Zijlstra, you require 116. She is on

:18:48. > :19:05.the finish. This is unlike Anastasia, so she will be back. A

:19:06. > :19:06.second art was and the start. -- per second -- that second dart was a

:19:07. > :19:32.loose dart. Double top. You require 59,

:19:33. > :19:52.Anastasia. That was a set dart. And other chance for Anca Zijlstra. The

:19:53. > :20:10.market is good. -- -- mark. This is the first one she had missed. Four

:20:11. > :20:18.missed set dart. She had missed it. She has missed five set dart.

:20:19. > :20:45.Another attempt. Missed about by a mile. In the madhouse, Anastasia.

:20:46. > :20:53.Until those missed doubles, it was a juristic standard, but Anca Zijlstra

:20:54. > :21:09.missed six for the set, Anastasia missed five, before finally finding

:21:10. > :21:16.the 11, and we are back on three. Or -- all four legs have gone on, and

:21:17. > :21:19.you can imagine that Anca Zijlstra will take it out. But have those

:21:20. > :21:41.missed attempts got to her. Anastasia bouncing all over. The

:21:42. > :21:49.first sign of nerves from Anca Zijlstra.

:21:50. > :21:58.She is a real Match Play, Anastasia. Finds her way to win. You have to

:21:59. > :22:08.take your hat off to her. Not the form we were expecting from

:22:09. > :22:36.Anastasia. Buries the treble. -- there is the

:22:37. > :22:47.treble. They have to a piece -- two a piece.

:22:48. > :23:02.Yes, 95 left. Oh, yes! She is getting the crowd going with her.

:23:03. > :23:12.That is for sure. 35 left. Great time to produce. That single three

:23:13. > :23:22.gives herself more chances to take out the first set. Double 16, she

:23:23. > :23:36.needs, she has missed it. Treble 20, the shot. 16 it will be for Anca

:23:37. > :23:46.Zijlstra. She has missed eight dart for the set.

:23:47. > :23:54.All of a sudden, all of the missed dart do not matter at all. She is

:23:55. > :24:00.one set away from knocking out the three-time champion. The way she is

:24:01. > :24:09.throwing, it is certainly going her way. You just wonder how the nerves

:24:10. > :24:15.will go when you are looking at a double to win the match. It took her

:24:16. > :24:23.nine attempts to win the first set. The experience is not winning her

:24:24. > :24:36.over. Oh, dear! I think she is in a bit of

:24:37. > :25:12.trouble. Guaranteed to -- Darren, from

:25:13. > :25:17.England, he will face the Greek any first-round preliminary match any

:25:18. > :25:27.first-round on Sunday. He is a bit of a player, the Greek.

:25:28. > :26:07.Anastasia on 107. Anastasia, you require 107. She should go for the

:26:08. > :26:16.treble 21st. Yes, that is 47. Double top it is.

:26:17. > :26:28.She cannot finish now. You would probably still just about make

:26:29. > :26:29.Anastasia favourite to win the match, but only if she starts to hit

:26:30. > :26:53.the doubles, just like that. I am very impressed with this girl.

:26:54. > :27:04.She really can push the dart through the air. You say you would make

:27:05. > :27:08.Anastasia favourite. Not if Anca Zijlstra keeps throwing like these.

:27:09. > :28:25.-- this. Warehouse her scoring gone? -- where

:28:26. > :28:39.has. You can keep calm and play dart upon the stage? -- who can? The

:28:40. > :28:48.former semifinalist watching. On the right. Offering her support. You are

:28:49. > :29:29.very engrossed, aren't you? 116 is an out shot, so 190 before

:29:30. > :29:42.the throw. Unlucky, but a chance now. Will she go bull or treble 20?

:29:43. > :29:55.She went for the Chisom Chiaha 18 -- to 18. -- two 18s.

:29:56. > :30:11.Struggling. This leaves an opening, double 18.

:30:12. > :30:29.Pulled it. Double top for an East -- for Anastasia. Three out of 17

:30:30. > :30:37.overall on the doubles. What a double that was. Very it is.

:30:38. > :31:03.-- Berridge there it is. Remember the name, Anca Zijlstra, I

:31:04. > :31:28.cannot spell it. This is a big leg, isn't it, Tony?

:31:29. > :31:43.Is Anca Zijlstra Winslet, she has the dart, throwing for the match. --

:31:44. > :31:48.is Anca Zijlstra wins it. She has to make a move now. Making it difficult

:31:49. > :32:30.for herself a little bit. And to gain. -- again. She certainly

:32:31. > :32:40.have the help today. Steady town tons for Anastasia today. A single

:32:41. > :32:53.and a double remaining. This throw will only put a little

:32:54. > :33:11.bit of pressure, but if she gets the treble, but not to be. 41. This is

:33:12. > :33:20.her 12th at double top. There you go.

:33:21. > :33:58.That is not asked, Tony. -- us. There are not many who come to the

:33:59. > :34:11.darts grumpy, and fewer who leave grumpy! That's more like it!

:34:12. > :34:26.81. Anca Zijlstra, while we have been watching, got a 91, so the

:34:27. > :34:48.scores 60 points ahead. She started well, but she is not

:34:49. > :35:11.coping with the situation now. 66, 80, but that the performance is

:35:12. > :35:37.showing that she is struggling to hit the treble 20. Not on a Finnish.

:35:38. > :35:49.-- finish. Still a chance. This is set point. If she can take out 142,

:35:50. > :36:05.not any more. Treble ten leaves double 16. The shot is on. That is

:36:06. > :36:15.the one. Single extant. Double 16. -- single 16.

:36:16. > :36:27.Double top, she hit it last time, but missed at this time. Double ten

:36:28. > :36:32.for Anastasia, to win the set. And it levels the match. We have seen it

:36:33. > :36:45.time and time again, she does enough, she finds a way.

:36:46. > :36:56.She did have the dart at double 16 to level the second set.

:36:57. > :37:07.Still, you have to put your head in the sky and score. They are equal

:37:08. > :37:11.now, and didn't go that far they will go to sudden death. They will

:37:12. > :37:35.throw for the bull to get the advantage. Made the darts be with

:37:36. > :37:53.you. -- and -- may the darts be with you. Darts Vader. Darts Wars. That

:37:54. > :38:02.the good ones to get over the top. Very nicely done.

:38:03. > :38:13.Anca Zijlstra throwing first in this the first leg.

:38:14. > :38:28.This is a good leg. This leaves very and pole position. -- leaves her.

:38:29. > :38:40.Suddenly it is not coming quite so easily for Anca Zijlstra. Darts she

:38:41. > :38:47.wants them. -- six darts if she wants them.

:38:48. > :39:05.They are coming back for 40. 47. Two out of 13 for double top for

:39:06. > :39:25.Anastasia, but she still leave that. -- leaves it. OK, a bull would help

:39:26. > :39:29.her. Treble 19 would also help. Unlucky, -- that would leave her

:39:30. > :40:14.unlucky and disappointed. A bit of pressure.

:40:15. > :40:28.The door has been left open with a 43. But Zijlstra does not take

:40:29. > :40:36.advantage. And the thing is with Anastasia, the daughters not get

:40:37. > :40:44.left open for long. -- door does not get left open for long.

:40:45. > :40:55.Still, Anca has a lot going for her. It is her first time in a major

:40:56. > :41:09.champion. She certainly has not let the side down. Anca, last year in

:41:10. > :41:16.the finals, lost to de Graaf in the first and then lost in the England

:41:17. > :41:22.national singles. A few semifinals around the place as well, Denmark,

:41:23. > :41:26.Poland, Switzerland, Luxembourg. Well travelled, but her first time

:41:27. > :42:04.here. 65 points away. Anastasia you

:42:05. > :42:15.require 65. She could win this leg and move one leg away from the

:42:16. > :42:46.quarter-finals. Double 16. OK. The chances here. Still a chance.

:42:47. > :42:55.Dobromyslova! The three-time champion is now the three-time

:42:56. > :43:00.champion is now a leg away. See what a fight she put up here. She has

:43:01. > :43:15.done well for her first appearance, I will say that. But experience will

:43:16. > :43:31.tell. How fluid she is with that throw. Right the way through. That

:43:32. > :43:42.is a good ton as well. A good recovery. 31 years old, Anastasia.

:43:43. > :43:48.She first played on the lakeside stage in a 2007 World Championship.

:43:49. > :44:01.She lost in the semifinals. She came back the following year and won the

:44:02. > :44:05.final. Won again in 2012 and in 13 -- 2013. But has not been beyond the

:44:06. > :44:20.semifinals since. Pressure in her head now. She has

:44:21. > :44:26.never lost for the quarter-finals, Anastasia. Just for a moment tonight

:44:27. > :44:30.it looked like that record may be in jeopardy. But who would bet against

:44:31. > :44:47.her now? Finish on 170. That would be nice to

:44:48. > :45:03.finish with. I am sure she will go for it. Anastasia, you require 170.

:45:04. > :45:12.Two triple 20s and a bull's-eye, the biggest checkout berries. It is not

:45:13. > :45:25.over yet. -- biggest checkout there is.

:45:26. > :45:36.A double top. I don't know why she keeps leaving it. She is not hitting

:45:37. > :45:42.it. Two out of 15 on a double top for Anastasia. That single 18 leaves

:45:43. > :45:43.the bull's-eye to stay alive for Anca Zijlstra of the Netherlands.

:45:44. > :46:13.Oh! How about that! Unconcerned -- Anca said it is not

:46:14. > :46:14.over until the fat lady sings. That was unfortunate. Caught the flank

:46:15. > :46:37.there. And other one. Oh! Again, and other

:46:38. > :46:49.three in there. That is why she has won free world titles. Simply does

:46:50. > :46:51.not let it bother her. -- three. She watched her opponent checkout with a

:46:52. > :47:14.bull's-eye... But she has come back. Anastasia, you require 161. She does

:47:15. > :47:20.not need to go for it. Anca's miles away. She can't finish.

:47:21. > :47:39.120 left. A big score here. Oh, yes, this is good, this is very good.

:47:40. > :47:57.It is double top. They another chance to save it. For Anca. How

:47:58. > :48:02.about this, if she takes this out? Anastasia, you know, has only hit

:48:03. > :48:06.double top twice and she has had 16 darts today. She will hope she

:48:07. > :48:11.doesn't need another. A double ten for the match.

:48:12. > :48:21.Mind you, she has had only one out of seven now on double tens, make

:48:22. > :48:40.that one out of eight. OK. Deep breath. Triple 20. Triple 19.

:48:41. > :48:47.This for the match. In all she has missed 29 darts at a double,

:48:48. > :49:04.Anastasia. Double top it is. Double ten to save

:49:05. > :49:16.the match. Yeah! Well done! We are into sudden death! What a difference

:49:17. > :49:20.a dart makes. So they will throw for the bull's-eye. Whoever is closest

:49:21. > :49:26.will have the advantage of throwing first in this, the sudden-death leg.

:49:27. > :49:32.Whoever wins this leg wins this match.

:49:33. > :49:49.Finding out whether that is OK. Yes. This is it. Well, well, well, Tony.

:49:50. > :49:59.Who is your money on? I said Anca's away that she hasn't dropped yet. I

:50:00. > :50:11.think she is in with a good chance. She has stuck to her guns.

:50:12. > :50:26.Anastasia has had darts to win the match. Plenty of them. Good

:50:27. > :50:35.thinking. But she has missed them all. That is good. Must break the

:50:36. > :50:43.throw, though, if she is to go through. No fireworks yet from

:50:44. > :50:55.either player. It is who can hold their nerve at this stage. Terrific

:50:56. > :50:57.entertainment. Yes. They are battling away. The first 100 in this

:50:58. > :51:09.leg. Only a 60 from Anastasia. A little

:51:10. > :51:17.bit of daylight now for Anca Zijlstra from the Netherlands. Her

:51:18. > :51:19.partner, Les Dave, watches on as he starts to believe that Anca might do

:51:20. > :51:45.it. She is 202 points away. Well, the Mexicans are in. That is a

:51:46. > :51:56.part as are out. -- The Zapatas are out. Needs a triple. OK. The finish

:51:57. > :52:16.is on. Oh, dear, what happened then, Anca?

:52:17. > :52:24.Match point again for the Russian. Oh, she has left double top again.

:52:25. > :52:43.Anastasia! And she has listed again! -- missed it again. Pull the dart!

:52:44. > :52:52.Anastasia, you require 20. Experience can tell here. Two left.

:52:53. > :53:00.Double ten. 55, not the best double on the board. 15. This is exciting.

:53:01. > :53:20.Double two. Look at that. Just a fraction above that wire. Oh!

:53:21. > :53:26.Anastasia, you require five. Well, well, well, 35 missed doubles. There

:53:27. > :53:31.goes a number one. This is for the match and there goes another one!

:53:32. > :53:42.Can you believe what you are seeing here? Oh, dear.

:53:43. > :53:53.Unlucky. They are both in the madhouse and that is what lakeside

:53:54. > :53:55.is. A madhouse. This is the sudden-death leg, for a place in the

:53:56. > :54:08.quarter-finals. She has missed again and again and

:54:09. > :54:17.again! A little drink of water because you need it. Let's show them

:54:18. > :54:33.the way come on, everyone is cheering for you. Dave cannot

:54:34. > :54:46.breathe. Tens, nervous. There is! There it is! It is all over. What a

:54:47. > :54:56.match! Well, well, well, the tale of missed doubles ending, perhaps

:54:57. > :54:59.fittingly, with a double one. Reigning women's world champion Lisa

:55:00. > :55:04.Ashton has rewritten the rulebook as to what is possible as far as women

:55:05. > :55:09.starts is concerned. Her performance last year was sensational and he she

:55:10. > :55:14.was, at the start of going for a hat-trick of world grounds will

:55:15. > :55:25.opponent was the Lincolnshire County captain. Paula Jacklin on the way.

:55:26. > :55:37.Clearly these the world through rose tinted spectacles. -- sees the

:55:38. > :55:44.world. She has the advantage of throwing first in this leg. The best

:55:45. > :55:52.out of three sets wins the match. And wins a place in the

:55:53. > :56:08.quarter-finals. She has a lot to content with, I am afraid to say. --

:56:09. > :56:13.I think this will be very quick. But it is always quick when Lisa Ashton

:56:14. > :56:16.is there. She does not hang around. She is unbelievable. She should be

:56:17. > :56:34.playing with the men, to be honest. A decent start from Paula. You can

:56:35. > :56:40.tell from her walk on she was not nervous. She is not fazed by playing

:56:41. > :56:55.on that stage. Ball-up, she lost too early to the Gras last year. --

:56:56. > :56:57.Paula. Knocking on the door for a major final last year was Paula. She

:56:58. > :57:28.often came but it is Lisa who is on to her

:57:29. > :57:30.finish first. You really would not put this past her, even in the first

:57:31. > :57:43.leg. 136. These are the shots she would need

:57:44. > :57:59.to take out if she wants to stay in this match. That was for the bull.

:58:00. > :58:09.So Lisa, coming to the key. Triple 20 88, that is the shot. Oh, that is

:58:10. > :58:15.way off. I tell you what, pity our cameraman went Lisa Ashton is a

:58:16. > :58:21.deaf. She is just so quick. This is for the first leg of the match. She

:58:22. > :58:27.was aiming for the big 20 and hit the triple. That is double top. That

:58:28. > :58:47.is the one. Her two daughters also play

:58:48. > :59:06.Lancashire darts. It is a family affair. Daniel is the world youth

:59:07. > :59:15.champion. -- Danielle. There she is. What a great prospect she is as

:59:16. > :59:21.well. I had some great days with Lancashire. She was with them for

:59:22. > :59:35.seven or eight years, we had a great team then.

:59:36. > :59:52.And Louise Peters watching on, in action later. With a nice smile.

:59:53. > :59:56.This is good. This is good. Come on! That is OK. It keeps her in the leg.

:59:57. > :00:16.Perfect. A very nice last start. Paula has

:00:17. > :00:41.left 175. 170 is the biggest outshot that you

:00:42. > :00:46.can take out in three darts, three triple 20s and a bull's-eye, of

:00:47. > :01:05.course. Bring on the men. The match is only

:01:06. > :01:12.two legs old already and a three digit checkout. A nice diet from

:01:13. > :01:54.Paula. -- dart. There are the averages. In one match

:01:55. > :01:58.last year, Lisa averaged 90 plus. There's not much to separate them,

:01:59. > :02:04.it's just that Lisa is there, getting her chance at the end and

:02:05. > :02:07.taking it. Paula has not even had a chance of a double yet. Mind you, we

:02:08. > :02:35.are only two legs into this match. Some wonderful players, those

:02:36. > :02:42.Lancashire men and women. Billy Leonard, former world champion.

:02:43. > :03:03.He was a great player but let's get back to the action. This is for the

:03:04. > :03:20.set. It can't now be taken out. Paula has a chance. Yes. She could

:03:21. > :03:31.go for the ball all the triple 20. -- bull or for the triple 20.

:03:32. > :04:03.OK, for the first time, how are those doubles, Paula? She needs

:04:04. > :04:05.this. Come on, Paula. There are many people watching you. A full house.

:04:06. > :04:15.Yes! Very, very, very good diet. -- diet

:04:16. > :04:49.-- dart. I think Peter started off slowly

:04:50. > :04:56.like a few people do... In Mexico, he? We will be seeing all the fancy

:04:57. > :05:25.dress this week. Brilliant turnouts. Her second scorer of 140 plus, Lisa.

:05:26. > :05:31.It is comeback time. And another. That is her second score of over

:05:32. > :05:34.140, Paula. Recent match, this. Still favourites to take this lot.

:05:35. > :05:58.There it is. You would have lots of room. Squeeze

:05:59. > :06:06.one between them. Oh, lucky! This 61 is for the set for Lisa Ashton.

:06:07. > :06:16.Double 18, no problem. They are loving it.

:06:17. > :06:23.Averaging 85 in that state, hitting 50% of her doubles. She has returned

:06:24. > :06:48.to form, the defending champion. They are enjoying themselves

:06:49. > :07:00.already. This is the first date of action. Day one at Lakeside 2016,

:07:01. > :07:11.match one in the women's World Championship. Do you have the buzz

:07:12. > :07:17.yet? I get the buzz, Tony, when I pull into the car park. And now I

:07:18. > :07:28.think everyone else has got the buzz! Just to remind you, this is

:07:29. > :07:37.the women, not the man. -- men. There it is. A good marker. Yes.

:07:38. > :07:55.Oh, unlucky. Lisa has thrown 12 darts. She wants

:07:56. > :08:07.a. You should make that a lab and because one of them fell out of the

:08:08. > :08:16.board. -- 11. Here we go. Treble 20. 25 would have left double 18. She is

:08:17. > :08:22.allowed to ask the refereeing. She will be back four double 16, will

:08:23. > :08:31.Lisa, because Paul is back in 276? She needs to rediscover her focus

:08:32. > :08:35.after losing that first set. So double 16. Yes, no problem for the

:08:36. > :08:50.defending champions. Set after set. She missed her first

:08:51. > :08:54.two doubles in the first leg of the match at double top and she has only

:08:55. > :08:59.missed a bull's-eye since. And that was not by much.

:09:00. > :09:16.Metronomic. He she goes again. He she goes again!

:09:17. > :09:32.. There is a great buzz around the act arena. Desert around the arena.

:09:33. > :09:52.Amonde, Paula! -- come on, Paula! Everyone wants you to steam top. --

:09:53. > :10:04.deemed it up. Not too bad, but neither is on 261. -- Lisa. Paula

:10:05. > :10:34.needs a big score. Not enough. Enjoying themselves. It

:10:35. > :10:40.is a finish, 144. Paula is still on 234.

:10:41. > :11:18.55. Lisa, you require 144. She needs six dart from 144. 66 for Lisa. A

:11:19. > :11:37.treble ten would be handy. 16, double 12 she had left. Still the

:11:38. > :11:43.same five. -- same size. Astonishing finishing from Lisa Ashton. She

:11:44. > :11:48.missed to darts, at double top in the first leg of the match, but she

:11:49. > :11:55.had it everything bar one shot of everything at the bull 's eye in the

:11:56. > :12:03.third leg. I thought you were going to say everything but the kitchen

:12:04. > :12:16.door! It has been magic, really have the -- really has. She is averaging

:12:17. > :12:21.85. This is in round one. You have to feel for Paula. She had done

:12:22. > :12:36.nothing wrong. She has not had a look in. 30. I think Lisa may have

:12:37. > :12:41.to go into the men's teams this year!

:12:42. > :13:06.39. It is still just about pantomime season. And they have high heel on

:13:07. > :13:08.as well. 60. On my lord! Imagine sitting opposite him on the train.

:13:09. > :13:33.You would not get on it! OK, 280, the bureau. -- the throw.

:13:34. > :13:39.100. Well, flamingos in the stand on one leg, and Lisa Ashton is only one

:13:40. > :13:51.leg away from winning the match. She had six dart on 188, should she

:13:52. > :14:02.require them. -- six darts. No out shots for Paula.

:14:03. > :14:14.Will those be the last darts that Paula Jacklin throws? Double 16 for

:14:15. > :14:19.Lisa, for a place in the quarter-finals. Did you ever

:14:20. > :14:25.doubted? Great scoring from the world champion. Great finishing from

:14:26. > :14:29.the world champion. Do the very thoughtful Paula Jacklin, he did

:14:30. > :14:36.nothing wrong, but Lisa Ashton is through to the quarter-finals and

:14:37. > :14:40.makes a bit of a statement. Craig Caldwell had travelled all the way

:14:41. > :14:45.from Wellington to make this his debut, and he was up against a

:14:46. > :14:51.Scotsman, who had not travelled so far, Alan Souter, and the prize was

:14:52. > :14:53.the opportunity to say the defending world champion in the first round

:14:54. > :15:18.proper on Sunday. First blood to Alan Souter, the 30

:15:19. > :15:31.four-year-old Scottish qualifier. -- 34-year-old. 85.

:15:32. > :15:43.Caldwell needs to step on it. If he carries on like this, it will be a

:15:44. > :16:13.great match. It will go right down to the wire. He is putting those

:16:14. > :16:20.darts where he wants them. All that Alan Soutar can do is hope that he

:16:21. > :16:35.can take it out with the darts, but he has a lot of time. 81 left. 12

:16:36. > :16:44.darts thrown and he is on 62. 62, for Caldwell. 57. He once double

:16:45. > :16:55.16. -- that he wants. Holding his throw, a nice check

:16:56. > :17:26.out. 15 dart. XT. -- 60. Could match this, John.

:17:27. > :17:43.-- good. Solid match again, peppering that 20. 100.

:17:44. > :17:52.Having to make an adjustment, coming down with a really good cover shot.

:17:53. > :18:01.Ross Montgomery, another Scotsman, in the crowd, watching on. There

:18:02. > :18:07.here is -- he is, cherishing ambitions of his own and realising

:18:08. > :18:18.he is on camera as well! A great player, Ross. Alan Soutar needs a

:18:19. > :18:24.big hit, over 100 points adrift, this is handy. And another would be

:18:25. > :18:30.ideal. This is the maximum of the match, and what a time to do it!

:18:31. > :18:43.Couldn't group them together. Alan Soutar coming back with 106

:18:44. > :18:46.square up the match. That 180 was perfect in timing. Can Alan Soutar

:18:47. > :19:19.finish it off! -- off? Delay champ. Treble 18, full.

:19:20. > :19:39.Unlucky. -- bull. -- delay champ -- still a chance. To the wrong side.

:19:40. > :19:45.68. Extends. Double 16, under pressure, Alan Soutar on form. He

:19:46. > :20:05.has to get this. So important that he does not leave his road to go two

:20:06. > :20:14.down. -- live is bureau Dart -- loose his throw.

:20:15. > :20:27.Dingdong, he is right back in the match. Exciting. This is why he has

:20:28. > :20:35.done it so well this year. He has come up from under and he is in

:20:36. > :20:40.form. That if his first maximum. Was an up and under.

:20:41. > :21:09.He is heating them now, and in other. -- heating Dart hitting.

:21:10. > :21:29.Can he do this? Just the wrong side of the wire, and the pantomime crowd

:21:30. > :21:39.do not like it. The main thing now is to finish it off. He is throwing

:21:40. > :21:51.well now. That is the first time he has smiled. The playwright be? --

:21:52. > :22:02.can he play rugby? Looks like he may have done once upon a time. How many

:22:03. > :22:11.times have you seen that? You need 20 at the double top and usually the

:22:12. > :22:17.treble. -- you hit the treble. The double top.

:22:18. > :22:35.He did well then. A bit unlucky. Now, back on level terms. The

:22:36. > :22:39.checkout percentages of Caldwell are extraordinary, 71%. If he keep that

:22:40. > :22:45.up, he will be very difficult to beat. Anything around 40%-50%, very

:22:46. > :23:07.good. That was a really good effort. If you are just joining up, Dart up

:23:08. > :23:22.-- if you are just joining us, there have been no known Dart nine --

:23:23. > :24:19.9-darter since 1990. 1.2 when it. -- on point to win it.

:24:20. > :24:28.There we go. Treble 20. The bull. Caldwell to take the opening leg,

:24:29. > :24:42.116. You need that four double 18, for a 96 checkout. Perfect. That

:24:43. > :24:46.hurts Alan Soutar. Well, we have certainly found some talent here.

:24:47. > :24:54.The big man is getting the big scores, and he is getting the big

:24:55. > :24:58.out shots. He could be dangerous. We talked about the checkout

:24:59. > :25:07.percentage, that would make it even better. He has six out of eight. He

:25:08. > :25:13.is showing that he will be hard to beat. He looks in the zone, doesn't

:25:14. > :25:17.he? Overall averages are not what they were. Alan Soutar has gone off

:25:18. > :25:43.the boil a little. 81. A couple of loose starts in the

:25:44. > :25:48.meantime. 58. I wonder how long Craig has been over here because the

:25:49. > :25:52.jetlag is a factor when you start travelling all over the world, as I

:25:53. > :25:58.know from personal experience Jocky it is some journey. -- personal

:25:59. > :26:09.experience! The last time I was there, we have

:26:10. > :26:21.to turn around, the engine was on fire. Don't say that! Alan Soutar

:26:22. > :26:22.needs to get back quickly. He needs to break back and you really need a

:26:23. > :26:31.treble. But he is not on a finish. 59. Neither is called well. --

:26:32. > :26:44.Caldwell. 58. The Scottish flag is on his

:26:45. > :27:35.dart. Here we go, 19s. Here is a chance

:27:36. > :27:42.for Alan. Oh, dear! Unlucky, but a chance that had to be taken for Alan

:27:43. > :28:01.Soutar, double top needed. He has done it. All square. He kind of got

:28:02. > :28:10.away with that a little bit, Alan. Now, what a difference a dart

:28:11. > :28:25.makes! Young and old, they are all loving it. 140.

:28:26. > :28:36.Having to switch and doing it beautifully, once more. Cracking

:28:37. > :28:50.cover shot from Alan Soutar. Switching. 99.

:28:51. > :28:57.He has the advantage of this throw. And he has made it count. He has

:28:58. > :29:11.left a finish, 124. A good response, a good leg, this

:29:12. > :29:24.one. By the thrown nine though far. 124 the checkout required. This is

:29:25. > :29:36.the bull. Unlucky! Every chance for Caldwell. That is a great first

:29:37. > :29:50.dart, and is now 77. -- double seven. Swings and roundabouts, it is

:29:51. > :30:06.all happening. It is double four. Can he do it? He went for three.

:30:07. > :30:17.Caldwell, double seven. Three. Double two! Nurse from Alan Soutar,

:30:18. > :30:28.and Caldwell have the bit between his teeth -- and nurse -- and

:30:29. > :30:32.nerves. He'll be throwing this to his advantage, meanwhile, Alan

:30:33. > :30:37.Soutar having to compose himself and put that behind him. A bit of

:30:38. > :30:52.nervousness, I think. Creeping ever closer. 85.

:30:53. > :31:13.His Lakeside debut, called well but it called well -- Caldwell. Looking

:31:14. > :31:29.for his second maximum. The crowd is giving him the best of order. Yes!

:31:30. > :31:40.It is on with the show. This is the third for Caldwell.

:31:41. > :31:58.He has a lot of time on his side, Caldwell. What a cracker! We know

:31:59. > :32:12.now that they have some talent in Australia and New Zealand. OK,

:32:13. > :32:17.double top. Yes! That puts him in control of the match, potentially.

:32:18. > :32:22.Alan Soutar had his opportunities, and could not clean it out, and the

:32:23. > :32:28.man who has travelled 12,000 miles is now in a strong position in what

:32:29. > :32:37.could turn out to be the final set of this match. Well said, John. It

:32:38. > :32:46.has been magic. I have loved it. Have you? I have. Interesting how it

:32:47. > :32:49.turned around, because Alan Soutar started so impressively, but the

:32:50. > :32:58.tension has been palpable in the last few leg and it is the result of

:32:59. > :33:01.Caldwell cranking up the pressure. That is a 62% checkout rate for the

:33:02. > :33:17.man from New Zealand. Coming down, trying to take one at

:33:18. > :33:24.the bottom, and there it is. 97. Moving further ahead.

:33:25. > :33:42.140. Nice response. This puts Alan Soutar on the finish. Caldwell

:33:43. > :33:45.ahead, but Alan Soutar is in a good position to take this against the

:33:46. > :33:55.throw. This is very important for the Scotsman...

:33:56. > :34:20.He went for the treble 19. He cannot finish now, so maybe treble ten. He

:34:21. > :34:35.is left with 57. Double 8 four seater. -- double 8 for Alan Soutar.

:34:36. > :34:36.He has made a bit of a mess of this, Caldwell. May be a counting

:34:37. > :35:08.issue. Double ten. The fans are shouting out. What a

:35:09. > :35:16.last dart that was. He needed it. None of them like that.

:35:17. > :35:37.Caldwell has just lost that momentum that he had. I was just going to

:35:38. > :36:06.say, slipping by a little. Alan Soutar needs to alive, and they

:36:07. > :36:19.were excellent 19. 99. Caldwell have had the advantage and maximum 3-1.

:36:20. > :36:27.Tight match. 99. Scott will take that.

:36:28. > :36:39.He needed that travel, Alan Soutar now with 217. -- that treble.

:36:40. > :37:15.134. That was a nice dart from Caldwell. Eight treble 20 will lead

:37:16. > :37:23.a bull 's eye. -- are treble 80. Another one will do. Yes, double

:37:24. > :37:33.ten. It has hit the wire! What a dart! Alan Soutar, with the throw,

:37:34. > :37:39.87, to stop Caldwell to take the advantage that the seized in the

:37:40. > :37:47.first set. He needed the bull's-eye, but did not get close.

:37:48. > :38:01.That is not a bad marker. Cannot alive. Big dart for the New Zealand

:38:02. > :38:04.a. Using it. Sliding off the barrel of his first dart to go ahead. It

:38:05. > :38:35.goes to one apiece. And he Fordham is in the house, I am

:38:36. > :38:53.told. A former champion. -- Andrew. The old Viking. This is good. Look

:38:54. > :38:57.at them here! It is manic! 100. He loved it, and he knew how important

:38:58. > :39:27.it was, punching the air at the through those -- threw those. He is

:39:28. > :39:34.a nice fellow, and he. Another one, just off the wire! Treble 20. Cannot

:39:35. > :40:00.be done now. Trying to stay in the match now.

:40:01. > :40:04.Coldwell is a lead away from 31 and a place in the first round proper

:40:05. > :40:13.and a match against the defending champion. He has lasted the pace a

:40:14. > :40:45.lot better than Saturn, I am afraid to say. -- van salt time. Soutan. I

:40:46. > :40:51.think you are right there, John. Soutan has to win this led to keep

:40:52. > :41:00.the match alive. He is going the right way to do it, John. His second

:41:01. > :41:16.match. Not on a Finnish, but he is in a good position now.

:41:17. > :41:50.Two trebles would be handy. There is one of them and, yes! 76. He needs

:41:51. > :41:54.to get that finished. That is not what he needed. He needed 14 for the

:41:55. > :42:04.bull's-eye and you get the triple 11. Dear, dear. 15 would leave them

:42:05. > :42:19.on 88. Called well now 76 for the match. Triple 20. The shot is double

:42:20. > :42:30.eight. It is for the match. What a Mac should you have seen there.

:42:31. > :42:36.Absolutely fantastic. The New Zealander and Scotland are giving

:42:37. > :42:43.their roll of New Zealand, be proud. A quality finish. Craig Caldwell

:42:44. > :42:48.takes the place in the first round where he will play Scott Mitchell.

:42:49. > :42:53.The last time Jim Williams appeared on this stage he suffered a few

:42:54. > :42:59.nerves. Would it be the same when he was up against one of the most

:43:00. > :43:01.popular players ever to appear, none other than Tony O'Shea, appearing

:43:02. > :43:17.here for the 15th consecutive year. Anything over 50%, they bite your

:43:18. > :43:23.hand off for. Anything under 30%, they are disappointed with. And both

:43:24. > :43:31.players regularly check out percentages under 30. A little growl

:43:32. > :43:34.of frustration there from O'Shea as he took his darts out of the board.

:43:35. > :43:49.The silverback in him talking. That is more like it. Hello. There

:43:50. > :43:51.it is. His first 180 of the tournament putting him in very handy

:43:52. > :44:05.position. A nice reply. Nice cover on the 19th

:44:06. > :44:09.from Jim Williams. Not on a finish, though. And neither is O'Shea. Just

:44:10. > :44:21.when he wanted a big hit, he wasn't there. Back into the 19th.

:44:22. > :44:32.Unerringly. Nicely poised. 204 then, O'Shea. He could do with a number

:44:33. > :44:41.one. -- another one. Double 16 he needs. 88 just above. Yes! So, once

:44:42. > :44:48.again we are going to a deciding leg in this second set. Going with the

:44:49. > :44:55.fro, O'Shea under pressure now. He cannot afford to lose another set.

:44:56. > :44:57.If you were to lose this leg than the spectre of a potential

:44:58. > :45:05.first-round defeat would become only too real.

:45:06. > :45:15.After reaching the final in 2013, Tony O'Shea lost in round one 3-

:45:16. > :45:19.zero. Lost in a sudden-death leg to Scott Mitchell in the first round

:45:20. > :45:29.last year. Desperate not to make it a hat-trick of first round defeats

:45:30. > :45:52.bite he must win this leg, you feel. If he is to have a chance.

:45:53. > :46:07.And it is just 60. One of the players taking the opportunity to

:46:08. > :46:10.check out the atmosphere. They have all had a throw up on stage this

:46:11. > :46:28.morning just to see how it looks. Jim, you require 141. This is for

:46:29. > :46:33.the set for a two set lead. It cannot be done that you he is

:46:34. > :46:40.applying massive pressure to Tony O'Shea and that 142. 142 to stay

:46:41. > :46:44.alive in this set, then, and he cannot do it now. He will just have

:46:45. > :46:52.to hope that William is' nerves crack.

:46:53. > :47:03.Double 16, double eight and he has got it. Now O'Shea really has his

:47:04. > :47:15.back against the wall. Williams with a two set lead.

:47:16. > :47:24.Williams with the advantage of throwing first in this third set.

:47:25. > :47:36.Here is O'Shea staring at another first round defeat? Two in the last

:47:37. > :47:44.two years. Six in total for him. But he is also reached three finals.

:47:45. > :47:48.Beads of perspiration on his face. He has struggled, I think, with the

:47:49. > :48:05.conditions, the warmth of their onstage. -- up some low -- there are

:48:06. > :48:09.onstage. He has a marginal advantage, Williams, Betty has got

:48:10. > :48:17.in it when he needed it and that gave him the two set at vantage.

:48:18. > :48:26.Both of those sets that William is one went to a deciding leg. And on

:48:27. > :48:38.and on neither occasion did Tony O'Shea throw a dart for the set.

:48:39. > :48:49.At least he is still thinking. Double 18. This will be something.

:48:50. > :48:56.Close. Very close. A chance for O'Shea to take this leg against the

:48:57. > :49:02.throw. That is so important to O'Shea's chances and getting him at

:49:03. > :49:09.self out from a very difficult position.

:49:10. > :49:22.If he can get on a little roll, then you just never know.

:49:23. > :49:29.A great cover shot from Williams. Switching to the 19th. He has been

:49:30. > :49:39.metronomic down there, hasn't he? The last five dart at triple 19 have

:49:40. > :49:44.found the green. Williams has effectively taken the throw by the

:49:45. > :49:58.virtue of that previous visit and he has not capitalise there. --

:49:59. > :50:10.capitalised. A bit of downturn ad become gorilla. He must be warm in

:50:11. > :50:16.that suit. -- he must be cheering for the silverback.

:50:17. > :50:23.He has found a little bit of something better here, Tony O'Shea.

:50:24. > :50:39.And the 120 checkout is very makeable.

:50:40. > :50:46.Well, 166 is not a finish. 170 is the biggest one. And there are a

:50:47. > :50:54.couple of boogie numbers where you cannot take them out in three darts

:50:55. > :51:06.and a great first dart therefore O'Shea. Ooh, unlucky.

:51:07. > :51:16.A double 16 and this would hurt. O'Shea breathes again.

:51:17. > :51:33.That should be a good marker. He drags the 22 down and he cannot

:51:34. > :51:38.believe it. Right in the middle. That is a big, big leg that has

:51:39. > :51:43.slipped away from O'Shea. He should have taken that.

:51:44. > :51:54.Straight back in at triple 20, Jim Williams. He has a bit of swagger

:51:55. > :52:00.about him now. Decided to go for the triple 19 with the third died

:52:01. > :52:05.because of the lie of the first two. Darts aficionados know that of

:52:06. > :52:07.course and now about the cover shot, the switch down below, that is why

:52:08. > :52:27.they do it. Jaqui over from Belgium, he is

:52:28. > :52:45.always here. A great dad 's supporter. Year after year he makes

:52:46. > :52:54.the pilgrimage. -- darts. Williams is on one of those boogie numbers,

:52:55. > :53:00.no checkout on 165. But he will be back to look at 124 with Tony O'Shea

:53:01. > :53:03.back on 266. He needs a big score. I'm lucky.

:53:04. > :53:10.back on 266. He needs a big score. I'm Unlucky. So close to 180. A

:53:11. > :53:17.triple 18 would leave him bull's-eye. Bull's-eye for a 2-1

:53:18. > :53:23.lead in this third set. Would have left him a leg away.

:53:24. > :53:35.146 is big and can't be done. Williams with a big opportunity to

:53:36. > :53:40.move to the brink of a victory. Double eight. Take it out. Only one

:53:41. > :54:06.more leg required. Quoted the 11 to eight favourite,

:54:07. > :54:10.Jim Williams. He has been solid. 140 from Tony O'Shea and straight back

:54:11. > :54:14.into the triple 20 at the start of this leg. Perhaps the scoreboard is

:54:15. > :54:19.freeing up his arm a little. He needs it to.

:54:20. > :54:25.If he does not hold onto its throw here, O'Shea, it is good night and

:54:26. > :54:29.thank you. Or, good afternoon and thank you. Start the taxi. Whichever

:54:30. > :54:39.euphemism you care to use. I think he will be around for a

:54:40. > :54:46.little while yet. He likes to sample the atmosphere, sometimes he gets

:54:47. > :54:55.behind the microphone. He is good at it.

:54:56. > :55:01.You would have hoped for more than 60 to 76 is makeable. Nervous times

:55:02. > :55:18.for Jill. OK, then, Tony. 25 for Bull. Oh, he

:55:19. > :55:21.has hit the bull's-eye. So, Williams, 141 for the match. Cannot

:55:22. > :55:32.be done. Jill enjoyed that. He still

:55:33. > :55:59.cherishes his hopes. That was a nice solid start. He is

:56:00. > :56:08.putting O'Shea under big pressure to get huge numbers.

:56:09. > :56:18.Another set goes the distance. Will it go the same way as the first two?

:56:19. > :56:25.Will it go to Wales or can Tony O'Shea find something? He needs to

:56:26. > :56:32.find the triple 20. I wonder if there is potential to be heading

:56:33. > :56:38.towards a second round match against a Dutchman.

:56:39. > :56:42.Looking as though it is going to go the way of the Welshman at the

:56:43. > :57:04.moment. But so is this. That was a bounce

:57:05. > :57:09.out. How unlucky is that? 140 when he comes back. O'Shea is looking at

:57:10. > :57:15.the small target to try he comes back. O'Shea is looking at

:57:16. > :57:22.the small target to to try and add just to get the double, treble

:57:23. > :57:33.eight. This is a match died for Jim Williams. Oh, what a way to do it!

:57:34. > :57:38.He has knocked out Tony O'Shea, one of Lakeside's true gentleman. And a

:57:39. > :57:47.gracious loser as you can see. But Jim Williams in only his second

:57:48. > :57:52.visit has produced the big performance that he knew he was

:57:53. > :57:57.capable of. Well done on passing the standard. You now have time for a

:57:58. > :58:02.few hours sleep before joining is later this afternoon, one o'clock on

:58:03. > :58:12.BBC Two for two of the Lakeside World Championship.

:58:13. > :58:22.Join us again very soon. That night. -- good night.

:58:23. > :58:26.Listen to that cheer. It's going to be our year.

:58:27. > :58:30.With a little bit of luck I can see us lift the cup.

:58:31. > :58:34.It's the FA Cup. Anything can happen.
