:00:36. > :00:45.Hello, everybody. We are gathered here at the Lakeside Country Club on

:00:46. > :00:49.this Sunday afternoon. It is a full house of fancy dress and darts

:00:50. > :01:00.disciples. With me on the balcony is Bobby George. Nice to see you again.

:01:01. > :01:12.First night over. Did you go to bed early or did you entertain? Half

:01:13. > :01:23.past ten, after bed. Feed. -- feet up. The arthritis seems like a nice

:01:24. > :01:29.guy body hurts a bit! -- but he hurts a bit. Scott Waites went down

:01:30. > :01:36.in straight sets to Alan Norris. In 95 average, he was close to 50% in

:01:37. > :01:40.the checkouts. A top performance. It was not quite vintage Martin Adams

:01:41. > :01:44.but he just needed to get his qualifier out of the way and find a

:01:45. > :01:49.little form. He did that in patches, taking the first seven legs against

:01:50. > :01:55.the Canadian qualifier, Dave Cameron. He has Tony O'Shea in round

:01:56. > :02:07.one. Early drama in the ladies expanded round one, Trina Gulliver

:02:08. > :02:11.are not dead. -- knocked out. Bobby called the shock yesterday when Alan

:02:12. > :02:18.Norris big Scott Waites. How far can Norris go? Obviously, he has got a

:02:19. > :02:24.chance. But he has two up his game to be world champion. He has had the

:02:25. > :02:30.practice. He has had a game on the stage. I think he could do well. As

:02:31. > :02:35.for Martin Adams, it has been a tough year and he had to go through

:02:36. > :02:42.a qualifier. He found a little bit of form and then he runs straight

:02:43. > :02:46.into Tony O'Shea. Tony O'Shea, a good player, obviously. If Adams

:02:47. > :02:55.beats O Shea, he is back. It will be tough. That is as big as any final

:02:56. > :02:59.he has played? The first game yesterday was his most important. He

:03:00. > :03:04.plays Tony O'Shea. He is probably happy to play him. Adams is a good

:03:05. > :03:11.player, he has just had some problems. We're with you for four

:03:12. > :03:19.hours on the BBC. Every game on that stage tells a different story.

:03:20. > :03:24.First up, Christian Kist, a winner two years ago. He takes on the

:03:25. > :03:32.first-ever Japanese player to grace the lakeside stage. Then it is

:03:33. > :03:36.Anastasia Dobromyslova, who put the men to shame with her finishing last

:03:37. > :03:44.year. She plays Karin Krappin. That will be followed by Richie George,

:03:45. > :03:48.semifinalist last year, against Robbie Green, a quarterfinalist 12

:03:49. > :03:54.months ago. Then it is Gary Robson, part of the furniture, making his

:03:55. > :03:58.17th appearance and hoping to go beyond the last eight for the first

:03:59. > :04:03.time. Last year, Richie play for the first time and reached the

:04:04. > :04:08.semifinal. You are quite confident. You have not talked about it much

:04:09. > :04:16.this year. Are you less confident? Well, his girlfriend had a baby five

:04:17. > :04:25.months ago. He had a bit of time off. He went back in a couple of

:04:26. > :04:29.tournament in August. So, he has not put the hours in on the dart board,

:04:30. > :04:53.he has been doing his job, looking after his family. He has got

:04:54. > :04:58.semifinals, last 16, quarters. He is playing Robbie Green, who put a few

:04:59. > :05:02.games together last year. Robbie is a dangerous player. They are mates.

:05:03. > :05:11.He comes around the house and they practised together. -- practice. You

:05:12. > :05:16.cannot be mates. You have to hate the guy you play. A tough game.

:05:17. > :05:20.Robbie Green is no mug. If Richie does not perform, he will be in

:05:21. > :05:30.trouble. How is life as a grandfather? Not too bad. If I just

:05:31. > :05:37.-- if I get fed up, I go in another room. Let's start with the first

:05:38. > :05:42.game. This is real David versus Goliath. Two years ago, Christian

:05:43. > :05:48.Kist went all the way from the qualifying floor to the trophy. Only

:05:49. > :05:53.the third player ever to do that. He beat Tony O'Shea in the final. Ted

:05:54. > :06:00.Hankey in the semis. His opponent today is not so familiar. Today this

:06:01. > :06:05.man will create history. Herriot Lisa Missoula is the first-ever

:06:06. > :06:09.Japanese player to venture into the culture that is the lakeside arena.

:06:10. > :07:20.Herriot de Shimizu. His career highlight came on home

:07:21. > :07:25.soil when he won the Japan open. He must overcome a formidable opponent

:07:26. > :08:05.in former world champion Christian Kist.

:08:06. > :08:10.This particular pronunciation has been keeping Bobby up more than his

:08:11. > :08:21.grandkids. You have been phoning me for weeks! Let's hear it. Hiroaki

:08:22. > :08:23.Shimizu. 100%. It is brilliant we have these eight regional

:08:24. > :08:28.qualifiers. It is bringing more blood through. He could be found out

:08:29. > :08:34.a little bit today. He could be out of his depth? I don't want to say it

:08:35. > :08:42.in a horrible way, but I think he can get beaten up. Kist is a robotic

:08:43. > :08:55.player, very good. He is a soft tip player. It is a bigger target. At

:08:56. > :09:00.least the boy is here representing his country. He is playing in the

:09:01. > :09:07.World Cup. Good luck to them but I cannot see him win. The players have

:09:08. > :09:11.taken to him, we have taken to him. Every time he walks in the arena, he

:09:12. > :09:17.gets a great round of applause. He has brought something to the

:09:18. > :09:22.tournament. That is what the game is about. It is the people in it. He is

:09:23. > :09:31.so happy to be here. Every time you see him, he is smiling. Nobody does

:09:32. > :09:35.that to me! Let's get them onto the stage. Your introductions come

:09:36. > :09:39.courtesy from a man who still gets into the cinema at half-price,

:09:40. > :09:46.Richard Ashdown. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the

:09:47. > :09:54.2014 BDO world Championships at the home of world darts, the lakeside.

:09:55. > :10:07.We now welcome a former Japan open champion. The man from Yokohama.

:10:08. > :11:07.Hideo de Shimizu! -- Hideo de Shimizu!

:11:08. > :11:14.Introducing from the Netherlands, a current European Cup champion, the

:11:15. > :11:52.2012 lakeside world champion, Christian Kist!

:11:53. > :11:59.He is big in Japan, but will he be thunderstruck by the lipstick? We

:12:00. > :12:05.shall find out now with Vassos Alexander and Jim Proudfoot.

:12:06. > :12:09.Good afternoon. There are three former men's world champions at the

:12:10. > :12:14.tournament this year. One is through, one is out and now we see

:12:15. > :12:19.the bird, Christian Kist. Victorious two years ago, beaten in the first

:12:20. > :12:26.round last year. Now back in the preliminary round. The first

:12:27. > :12:30.Japanese to play here, Shimizu. Former Japanese open winner, a man

:12:31. > :12:34.with World Cup experience who came within three wins of a place last

:12:35. > :12:40.year and who has made it through to the preliminary round in expanded

:12:41. > :12:49.tournament. When Kist won here, he was an unknown quantity. --

:12:50. > :12:52.commodity. Now he is fit and pain-free, how close can he come to

:12:53. > :12:57.be discovering his old form with hopefully his arthritis behind him?

:12:58. > :13:00.This will certainly give us a good idea of how dangerous he is going to

:13:01. > :13:17.be. Thank you, ladies and gentlemen.

:13:18. > :13:24.First leg, first set. Game on! Game on is the cry. Or, if you prefer, we

:13:25. > :13:43.can say it in Japanese! I was talking to him five minutes

:13:44. > :13:49.before he came on stage and I asked him how he was feeling. He said he

:13:50. > :13:52.was nervous. He did not look it when he came on stage. And his first

:13:53. > :13:59.three darts were anything but nervous. I have a feeling this man,

:14:00. > :14:05.who has been smiling his way around lakeside for a week or more, might

:14:06. > :14:10.just fancy his chances against the former champion. He himself fancies

:14:11. > :14:14.his chances now he is finally pain-free. Nothing to split them at

:14:15. > :14:36.the moment. Christian Kist puts his recent

:14:37. > :14:41.improvement down to a change in medication over the last three

:14:42. > :14:44.months or so. He is finally pain-free. He has been having

:14:45. > :14:51.problems in his wrist and his ankles. When he was here last year,

:14:52. > :14:55.it was almost at its worst. He did average a shade over 85 in the first

:14:56. > :14:59.round against Robbie Green. He is confident that this time around it

:15:00. > :15:13.will be very different. And not being the defending champion, there

:15:14. > :15:17.is much less pressure. Neither player is down to a finished yet.

:15:18. > :15:22.This opening leg has just gone off the boil a bit. But important for

:15:23. > :15:39.Hiroaki Shimizu to hold this throw if he can.

:15:40. > :15:50.Hiroaki Shimizu requires 71. So, he has a chance to win this first leg.

:15:51. > :16:08.14 for double top. And a perfect start. A rising star from the land

:16:09. > :16:17.of the rising sun. He is a professional darts player, this

:16:18. > :16:25.34-year-old. Darts, he told me, is getting bigger in his home country,

:16:26. > :16:35.but still not many people play. If you search very hard in Japan you

:16:36. > :16:40.can find this on TV. He says most of his friends and family will be

:16:41. > :16:44.watching on Internet streams. Not his first time to the UK, but his

:16:45. > :16:49.first time anywhere near London. He's been enjoying a bit of

:16:50. > :17:07.sightseeing, he tells me, in and amongst the hours and hours of Pratt

:17:08. > :17:08.is. -- of practice. And that is why Christian Kist has been feeling

:17:09. > :17:48.confident. Way back, there was a 28, a 64 and a

:17:49. > :18:01.60 to start this leg. He needs a trouble and he can't find it. -- a

:18:02. > :18:12.treble. A 88 to level the set. No problem. Possibly the least

:18:13. > :18:21.pressurised 88 we will see here all week.

:18:22. > :18:45.Christian Kist is into the rhythm with a 180 and a 13 darter.

:18:46. > :18:52.Well, Hiroaki Shimizu told me he was nervous, but he hoped he would relax

:18:53. > :18:58.into it. It seems like almost the opposite has happened. He seems to

:18:59. > :19:07.have grown in nerves over the past leg and a half. 43, 22 to start this

:19:08. > :19:13.leg. He didn't find a trouble in the second leg of the match, having

:19:14. > :19:38.looked so impressive in the first. -- a treble.

:19:39. > :19:52.There is Christian Kist's girlfriend. She will be happy with

:19:53. > :19:56.the start her man is made here. Hiroaki Shimizu with the darts in

:19:57. > :20:04.this leg, but Christian Kist with a sizeable advantage. He will be the

:20:05. > :20:24.first to a checkout here. Two excellent darts there. Two 140s

:20:25. > :20:39.already from Christian. So, 20s burst. A treble 9 team, that will

:20:40. > :21:05.leave in team. -- treble 19, that will leave 18. It is double 16. Just

:21:06. > :21:26.outside. No score. Hiroaki Shimizu, you require 123. Yes, treble 16

:21:27. > :21:32.Leeds 99. -- leaves double 9. He misses. He certainly got the crowd

:21:33. > :22:14.on his side. Six missed darts. Just the one dart in a double, is it

:22:15. > :22:22.all you need is? Yes, it is! The 2012 world champion missed six darts

:22:23. > :22:42.in a double. And Hiroaki Shimizu took advantage. After nine darts PC

:22:43. > :22:53.was 195 behind there. -- darts apiece, he was 195 behind there.

:22:54. > :23:04.That is Hiroaki Shimizu's partner, and next to her is the young lady

:23:05. > :23:08.doing all their translation. He has been able to translate his soft tip

:23:09. > :24:13.form on the stage so far. Everything has been going with rose

:24:14. > :24:24.so far. You nailed it. That will settle his nerves. Wesley is here

:24:25. > :24:28.watching on several of the players who win in action earlier this week

:24:29. > :24:35.and or indeed are playing later. Interested observers cheering on

:24:36. > :25:01.their adversaries. He is already through, of course.

:25:02. > :25:08.Big camaraderie amongst all the players, especially the Dutch

:25:09. > :25:13.contingent. Nine of them are here this year. Look at the difference in

:25:14. > :25:21.the players. Christian averaging 100, Shimizu back in the 70s.

:25:22. > :25:31.Nevertheless, if he holds here, he has the first set. A 45 followed by

:25:32. > :25:50.a 40 is not going to help. An opening here for Kist. So, 66 ahead,

:25:51. > :26:14.is Kist. Shimizu needs a big store -- score. Well done.

:26:15. > :26:36.Much to his restriction, he is not on a finish. -- his frustration.

:26:37. > :26:56.When it is the first of three sets, the three legs within each of those

:26:57. > :27:02.sets, not too much margin for error. And Shimizu has won the first set

:27:03. > :27:13.against the 2012 champion. How about that?

:27:14. > :27:26.It all hinged around that heard leg really, when Shimizu, miles behind,

:27:27. > :27:29.190 behind at one stage, Kist missed six darts in a double and lost the

:27:30. > :27:45.leg, and Tom as a consequence, the set.

:27:46. > :28:07.It is the Dutchman knew as the darts in his second set. -- who has the

:28:08. > :28:08.darts. Meeting with the top seed, Stephen Bunting, on Tuesday

:28:09. > :28:56.afternoon. Looks like this one may well go with

:28:57. > :29:05.the dark as well. -- the darts. Six darts to do it. 16 for double top. A

:29:06. > :29:37.fraction away from another 116. Game shot, and the first leg, Kist.

:29:38. > :29:53.Still everything going with the dark. -- darts. Christian is here as

:29:54. > :30:01.a former champion, that's how he's qualified for the preliminary round.

:30:02. > :30:10.The glory of 2012 will stop -- 2012. But the only tournament win

:30:11. > :30:24.he's had since is in the European pairs later in the same year.

:30:25. > :30:38.He certainly seems happier and much more confident. Things are moving in

:30:39. > :30:42.the right direction. And to correct something we said earlier. It is not

:30:43. > :30:46.Stephen Bunting who waits in the second round. It is James Wilson.

:30:47. > :31:14.That is on Tuesday evening. He seems to be well in control of

:31:15. > :31:27.this second leg. He would have hoped for more there.

:31:28. > :32:12.For the seventh leg in a row, with the darts. Yes! He has only missed

:32:13. > :32:34.one dart at a double all match. He has had three darts at double top

:32:35. > :32:42.and has hit every time. The one miss so far was a shot at 99. That is as

:32:43. > :32:50.close as he has come to a maximum. -- 99. The crowd have really taken

:32:51. > :33:03.him to their heart. That is as good as a maximum. All of a sudden, the

:33:04. > :33:15.standard of play has just got a little hotter. If Kist came here

:33:16. > :33:16.thinking he was going to get an easy passage into the first round, he

:33:17. > :33:44.knows better now. He will be back. He has had some

:33:45. > :34:23.trouble on 88. He will have been pleased to hit

:34:24. > :34:29.that. Kist. Still everything going with the throw. Good start by

:34:30. > :34:45.Shimizu. The only leg where we could have

:34:46. > :34:55.seen a break was in the third leg of the first set when Kist missed six

:34:56. > :35:06.darts at a double. Ever since then, the advantage of throwing first has

:35:07. > :35:15.been large. Here we go. Kist keeping the pressure on. If he breaks here,

:35:16. > :35:35.he levelled the match. -- he will level the match.

:35:36. > :35:43.Louise Peters can enjoy the darts this afternoon having won yesterday.

:35:44. > :35:51.Her boyfriend keeping his fingers crossed. He has left tops when he

:35:52. > :36:05.comes back. Another impressive leg from the debutante. He has not

:36:06. > :36:17.missed it yet. This four 813 dart leg. -- this is for a 13 dart leg.

:36:18. > :36:23.You would do well to see a guard that was more in the middle of that

:36:24. > :36:31.double 20 bed than that one. His finishing has been devastating. He

:36:32. > :36:36.has won five legs, had six darts at a double. His finishing percentage

:36:37. > :36:47.at the moment is 83%. You do not see that very often. Nine legs into the

:36:48. > :36:56.match. Now, if he can break the throat here, all of a sudden Shimizu

:36:57. > :36:57.becomes favourite to win the match. That was a big 140 from Christian

:36:58. > :37:10.Kist. 60 and 62 start from Shimizu. -- 60,

:37:11. > :37:53.to start from Shimizu. Christian Kist keeps giving

:37:54. > :38:02.opportunities. He is on a finish at least.

:38:03. > :38:19.Still no treble this leg. Finally he gets one.

:38:20. > :38:29.Hot favourite to win this second set.

:38:30. > :38:50.More so now. No pressure applied at all. Six darts at least at 70.

:38:51. > :39:08.I would not imagine that would be a costly error. Any finish will do for

:39:09. > :39:15.Shimizu. Finally he has left one. He will not be coming back. Kist hits

:39:16. > :39:25.the double ten. Levels the match and makes it ten legs with the darts.

:39:26. > :39:30.Ten entertaining legs and we are still no closer to knowing who will

:39:31. > :39:48.be going through to the first-round against James Wilson.

:39:49. > :40:15.Shimizu's girlfriend watches on. She is on the telly!

:40:16. > :40:22.Hiroaki did come over to take part in the world Masters in Hull. He was

:40:23. > :40:30.beaten in that event by Robert record. Kristian failed to make the

:40:31. > :40:34.last 40 tournament. He did the Richie George in the Grand Slam of

:40:35. > :40:43.darts but failed to make it out of the group in -- that also included

:40:44. > :40:49.Adrian Lewis. Not making much impression on this leg, Christian

:40:50. > :40:53.Kist. For all the optimism about how well he was playing, he is being

:40:54. > :41:51.given a real game here. Yet again it looks as though this

:41:52. > :42:17.will go with the darts. A couple of wayward darts. That was better.

:42:18. > :42:40.Hiroaki's finishing has been absolutely magnificent. Six out of

:42:41. > :43:08.seven so far. Fancy dress is always the order of

:43:09. > :43:59.the day. And a chance for a new double act. Kist and made up!

:44:00. > :44:07.The level of scoring has really dropped off when neither player does

:44:08. > :44:15.not have the darts. Hiroaki here, 43, 99, 38, not able to make any

:44:16. > :44:34.impression or put any pressure on Christian's throw.

:44:35. > :44:39.Not much pressure on Christian Kist, who is trying to make it 12 legs on

:44:40. > :45:24.the spin with the darts. well, I tell you what, they have a

:45:25. > :45:32.prize here for the best ANSI dress of the day. That has to be the early

:45:33. > :46:26.favourite, doesn't it? -- best fancy dress.

:46:27. > :46:37.Well, he gets the treble. He's on a finish. Is this the leg where

:46:38. > :46:58.Christian Kist can finally break the throw? No, not this time. Only 60.

:46:59. > :47:19.So, favourite to go with the darts again. Oh, this is extraordinary!

:47:20. > :47:34.Some of the best finishing we have ever seen from a first timer. Seven

:47:35. > :47:39.out of eight. Seven out of eight for Shimizu as you say. Christian on the

:47:40. > :47:52.other hand has only hit double top once and has had for attempts. --

:47:53. > :48:03.four. It puts the pressure on Christian. Shimizu knows that if he

:48:04. > :48:05.can get to the stage where Christian needs a double top, he will pretty

:48:06. > :48:40.much when the leg. Kirsten looked kind of relaxed

:48:41. > :49:02.backstage before the game. Not so much now. I think her feeling was

:49:03. > :49:19.that Shimizu would never beat Kist, but you never know now. Again, just

:49:20. > :49:32.unable to apply the pressure. 14 four double top. Again, he's missed

:49:33. > :50:07.it. Trouble 20, treble 18 and bull's-eye. There is one. He doesn't

:50:08. > :50:14.need this. That is 14 legs in a row with the throw. Seven for each

:50:15. > :50:25.player. For the third set in a row, we go to a decider. An excellent

:50:26. > :50:44.start by Shimizu. Kist really needs to reply in kind. This is the treble

:50:45. > :50:58.with all three darts. The second is good and the third is good. A 135 to

:50:59. > :51:15.start this leg. What a cracking match this is. Might a laudable

:51:16. > :51:22.attempt to expand this tournament win in more international

:51:23. > :51:38.qualifiers? Shimizu has certainly more than justified his presence

:51:39. > :51:50.here. Bull for the set, wow! This is just great. Brilliant darts from

:51:51. > :52:02.Shimizu of Japan. A 12 dart leg and he takes a set lead against the 2012

:52:03. > :52:13.champion. And here comes Kist, you can't draw breath here. Another set

:52:14. > :52:27.and the man from Japan has got Christian Kist on his bike.

:52:28. > :52:47.There is the bull's-eye and there is a reaction.

:52:48. > :52:54.If ever there was a game that would underline Bobby's old maxim, it is

:52:55. > :53:06.this one. Have a look in the difference of the averages.

:53:07. > :53:07.Christian Kist is well ahead. "Trebles for show, doubles for

:53:08. > :53:20.dough." I cannot remember seeing a match at

:53:21. > :53:36.the Lakeside where a player has been as dead on the doubles as Shimizu.

:53:37. > :53:51.Extraordinary. And one of those was able is I! -- a bull's eye! He

:53:52. > :53:58.hasn't hit a 180 yet, he's just hit everything else.

:53:59. > :54:10.Now, how about this? This could be the first break of the probe. A real

:54:11. > :54:24.chance. Trouble 19, which he likes. -- treble. Oh, he's missed the big

:54:25. > :54:41.20. Takes a little pressure off Christian Crist -- Kist. That could

:54:42. > :54:50.be costly. 15 four double top, which he hasn't missed all day. Now he's

:54:51. > :55:01.missed it. Double 10. The finishing line just doomed. It made those

:55:02. > :55:04.doubles a little harder to hit and Christian Kist has been there and

:55:05. > :55:29.done it and finds a 55 when he needs to. Is that a turning point?

:55:30. > :55:42.16 legs in a row with the darts. Has that ever happened before? It

:55:43. > :55:44.probably has at some stage in the distant past, but it is a real

:55:45. > :56:10.rarity. A very quiet start to this leg from

:56:11. > :56:17.both players. Shimizu needs to find some scoring or Kist will start

:56:18. > :56:30.taking advantage. A 41 and a 36 he started with. But Kist can take

:56:31. > :57:04.control of the leg and essentially Nick the darts. -- nick the darts.

:57:05. > :57:12.Is it just playing on his mind? An interesting grip, isn't it? He just

:57:13. > :57:50.dropped his finger underneath. So, 16 legs in a row with the

:57:51. > :57:58.darts, double tops to end that run. Yes. For the first time in a set,

:57:59. > :58:41.there is a bit of daylight. He's had no trouble holding his own

:58:42. > :58:53.throat so far, providing he does that now... -- his own throw. No

:58:54. > :59:01.question that those two missed doubles affected Shimizu. He had a

:59:02. > :59:24.dart at double top and a dart at double 10. He just had to hold twice

:59:25. > :59:41.to win the match. He's only had one score over 100 since then, Shimizu.

:59:42. > :59:47.There is this that. -- the set. We are into a deciding set. It is the

:59:48. > :59:52.least this match deserves. But again, significantly, bearing in

:59:53. > :59:55.mind what has preceded this match, it is Shimizu who has the row. Not a

:59:56. > :00:08.good start with it. -- the throw. Front 2-2, you do need to win this

:00:09. > :00:35.set by two clear legs. A unique sporting venue. Chandeliers

:00:36. > :00:56.lit up by an excellent opening game on the second day at Lakeside 2014.

:00:57. > :01:18.Kist can really punish Shimizu here. He is not down to a finish though. I

:01:19. > :01:35.think it was those two missed darts at doubles... It has fazed him.

:01:36. > :01:57.He needs this 140. There is no margin for error. Treble 17 would

:01:58. > :02:13.leave double 12 from here. Here is a chance for the former champion. No

:02:14. > :02:17.problem. For a legs in a row for Christian Kist. -- for legs. And he

:02:18. > :02:42.is heavy favourite from here. And to underline the size of the

:02:43. > :02:50.task facing Hiroaki, Christian has one nine out of nine when he has had

:02:51. > :02:54.the darts. -- he has won. All he has to do is hold twice and he is

:02:55. > :02:58.through this awkward preliminary round tie into the first round

:02:59. > :03:07.proper. Shimizu's scoring has deserted him.

:03:08. > :03:28.He seemed to be surfing a wave of hitting double after double actor

:03:29. > :03:34.double. The wave crashed to the shore with the missed double top and

:03:35. > :03:42.the missed double ten. Since then, he has not won a leg. He has not hit

:03:43. > :03:51.a treble in nine darts in this leg. Way back. Even the double four from

:03:52. > :03:58.Christian Kist there does not afford. This is the 20th leg of the

:03:59. > :04:03.match. Many of the games that Hiroaki plays will not go that far.

:04:04. > :04:09.The heat of the Lakeside stage, the pressure as well. The atmosphere,

:04:10. > :04:14.being in the world Championships for the first time. Many contributory

:04:15. > :04:24.factors taking their toll. Kristian is well in control. -- Christian

:04:25. > :04:31.Kist. It would be nice if he could hit a maximum to take on with him.

:04:32. > :05:02.-- to take home with him. I thought that was it. I really did.

:05:03. > :05:19.-- to take home with him. I thought that was

:05:20. > :05:32.-- to take home with him. I thought within one leg of the first-round

:05:33. > :05:38.-- to take home with him. I thought he has had to work really hard. The

:05:39. > :06:06.You even imagine it will be to Christian Kist. And he is

:06:07. > :06:09.You even imagine it will be sightseeing rather than the

:06:10. > :06:15.first-round of the agenda now for Hiroaki and his entourage. His

:06:16. > :06:20.presence here has been fantastic. This has been a really entertaining

:06:21. > :06:26.game. There is no doubt that the rising star from the land of the

:06:27. > :06:35.rising Sun will be back here again. Let's hope so.

:06:36. > :06:52.You never know, there may be life in this match yet. Just maybe.

:06:53. > :07:00.Obviously he needs this leg and the next one just to stay alive. First

:07:01. > :07:06.thing first. Hold your throat. He has still only been broken twice in

:07:07. > :07:17.the match, but the last two time see-through first. Not on a finish.

:07:18. > :07:27.And Christian Kist will be. The smile has gone.

:07:28. > :07:34.Oh, dear. He knows that this could be his last start at Lakeside this

:07:35. > :07:56.year. -- last dart. This is for the match. He didn't get

:07:57. > :08:05.the treble he wanted. He needs this. It would raise the roof.

:08:06. > :08:30.He misses double top again. He has left the door slightly ajar. You

:08:31. > :08:40.just never know in darts. You never know.

:08:41. > :09:05.No! Not this time. And Kist with another chance to

:09:06. > :09:07.close it out. And we go on. You would imagine he will go for and

:09:08. > :09:29.double top. Can he hit the big four? Good on you, Hiroaki! He has held.

:09:30. > :09:36.But he has got to break the throw. Andy has not managed that at all,

:09:37. > :09:42.all day. Still the odds overwhelmingly in Christian Kist's

:09:43. > :09:49.favour. And he starts with a 137. He is not letting those missed doubles

:09:50. > :09:53.affect him, it seems. But has that given Shimizu a lift? Can he find

:09:54. > :10:28.his scoring again? Better darts. That was not what he needed. Kist

:10:29. > :10:57.can breathe a little easier. He needs a big one here. And he has

:10:58. > :11:06.not got it. 41 leaves him double nine adrift. Kist with the darts.

:11:07. > :11:10.Kersten still does not look relaxed. Her man has been in a game, but

:11:11. > :11:31.ultimately a game that he seems destined to win. Yes, we thought

:11:32. > :11:37.that in the last leg. Go on, do it! He is having a long think. Does he

:11:38. > :11:47.want a maximum? He has got the maximum! The biggest cheer of the

:11:48. > :11:53.day. Even Kersten appreciates that. But it could be too little, too

:11:54. > :12:14.late. He has missed again at double top. Surely not? Surely not?

:12:15. > :12:23.He would just hope that Christian Kist's inability to hit double

:12:24. > :12:32.top... He had said! He wins. He is into the first round. What a match.

:12:33. > :12:43.What a battle. And what a gracious loser. Hiroaki Shimizu's first

:12:44. > :12:46.Lakeside adventure comes to an end. Christian Kist is through to the

:12:47. > :12:59.first round proper. We have had fun watching it.

:13:00. > :13:06.Ladies and gentlemen, what an entertaining debut. The man from

:13:07. > :13:08.Japan, Hiroaki Shimizu! And the former champion is on his way again,

:13:09. > :13:25.Christian Kist! That crowd reaction tells you

:13:26. > :13:32.everything. It is one of the strangest performances you will ever

:13:33. > :13:38.see on the stage. Shimizu did himself proud. It is Kist to move

:13:39. > :13:45.through into the first round. -- who moves through.

:13:46. > :13:53.Bobby, where do we start with Hiroaki? When he had the darts, he

:13:54. > :14:09.was like Phil Taylor. When he didn't, he was like Liz Taylor! I

:14:10. > :14:16.have not seen it in any match... Kist muster wondered what he had.

:14:17. > :14:22.After that, when Kist had the throw, he hit his first seven doubles. I

:14:23. > :14:27.thought it would not emerge easy. But he didn't. It is the unknown.

:14:28. > :14:32.You have never seen him play. You don't know if he is any good. He is

:14:33. > :14:38.great and his doubles. I wouldn't like to play him on the doubles. Was

:14:39. > :14:42.he so hell-bent on holding his own throat that the first party had

:14:43. > :14:53.against the throw, he could not get up for them? I did laugh a few

:14:54. > :14:58.times, I will be honest with you. He was all over the shop, wasn't he? It

:14:59. > :15:02.was like he was throwing a hand grenade. And the next minute he was

:15:03. > :15:09.perfect. It was unusual and it was entertaining. It is the unknown.

:15:10. > :15:23.These guys out there can play darts. Not great scoring wise, but

:15:24. > :15:28.finishing wise... As you say, the average was right down. But he did

:15:29. > :15:32.himself to the crowd will stop where Ralph is this guy going to get a

:15:33. > :15:37.chance to play in a major tournament? He wouldn't be able to

:15:38. > :15:54.afford it. And he can come on and do things like when the first set like

:15:55. > :16:02.this! He's got the body and the expression, this crowd love that. I

:16:03. > :16:12.felt a little bit sorry for Kist. But he kept at it and he came

:16:13. > :16:16.through at the end. This is the moment Rob Walker has been waiting

:16:17. > :16:24.for four years, he is fluent in Japanese. I'm certainly not, but

:16:25. > :16:29.Rachel is. This guy has won a whole army of supporters. The ovation when

:16:30. > :16:33.he came back here was astounding. Rachel, can you ask him how he

:16:34. > :16:49.managed to keep his nerve on the stage? He made such a great effort.

:16:50. > :17:05.Firstly, he wanted to enjoy this game. And he wanted all the audience

:17:06. > :17:11.to enjoy it as well, so he's really happy. Way going to show him his

:17:12. > :17:46.180. He had to finish with a 180! On the third dart, because the crowd

:17:47. > :17:52.really wanted him to hit 180, he went there and he did it. He thought

:17:53. > :17:58.it was good. He has done himself and Japan proud. Many congratulations.

:17:59. > :18:07.We really hope that we see you back at Lakeside again. This guy is an

:18:08. > :18:14.absolute superstar. He wasn't having that handshake at all! What did you

:18:15. > :18:19.say to him? Well, he's won our hearts but Christian Kist won the

:18:20. > :18:28.match. He's had injuries and problems but he's come back. I

:18:29. > :18:37.thought he wasn't throwing high enough on the treble. Not the same

:18:38. > :18:48.player that he was, nowhere near. But he's done the job today. 11 legs

:18:49. > :19:00.with the dark in his hands, knees having to play against that. -- the

:19:01. > :19:08.darts in his hands, he's having to play that. He kept at it, that is

:19:09. > :19:18.his job will stop you didn't play as well as he knows he can play. His

:19:19. > :19:22.finishing was spot on. Let's have a look at how the first round draws

:19:23. > :19:28.are coming on. There are preliminary matches before the first round and

:19:29. > :19:50.we still have a view either as on the screen. -- either ors.

:19:51. > :20:09.Darryl Fitton is a very good darts scorer but his doubles let him down.

:20:10. > :20:18.But he could do it. Well, we got Robbie Green and Richie George

:20:19. > :20:22.coming up. Always popular here. Still waiting to see from the

:20:23. > :20:34.qualifiers about first round opponents. James Wilson has been in

:20:35. > :20:40.all the tours, he's been a semifinalist, finalist, I've seen

:20:41. > :20:48.him in England, he's always in the last four. He won his first

:20:49. > :20:58.competition a month ago so he's broken the ice. He's come here as a

:20:59. > :21:07.master. He is a very good player. And of course we have just seen

:21:08. > :21:13.Christian Kist beating Shimizu, who one is all over. Let's look at the

:21:14. > :21:25.babies. There is one woman to beat. Back let's look at the ladies.

:21:26. > :21:29.Anastasia Dobromyslova is up next. There is no other World Championship

:21:30. > :21:37.are women so it is a great platform for the sport. There are six or

:21:38. > :21:49.seven debutants. We've already lost Trina Gulliver said that was a

:21:50. > :21:55.shock. Julie Gore is great. I think any of them could win. But Anastasia

:21:56. > :21:59.has that bit extra. Her finishing and her scoring are very good. If

:22:00. > :22:05.she puts them together, they won't beat her. What about Karin Krappen?

:22:06. > :22:12.She's been away and now she is back again. Well, she was world master a

:22:13. > :22:20.few years ago, she played well. But I don't think she will beat

:22:21. > :22:23.Anastacia. She tried to make it in the men's game and she came back

:22:24. > :22:35.here and she's only lost once on this stage. Last year, her finishers

:22:36. > :22:38.were as good as any man. As I said, Richie George will be taking on

:22:39. > :22:43.Robbie Green but we concentrate now on the ladies draw and we had a act

:22:44. > :22:52.of a man on the stage who looks up to every player at the Lakeside will

:22:53. > :22:59.stop ladies and gentlemen, this is the Lakeside World Championships. We

:23:00. > :23:02.continued the ladies competition and Wellcome the three times reigning

:23:03. > :23:08.England Masters champion, the three-time reigning Lakeside

:23:09. > :23:46.champion, it is Anastasia Dobromyslova!

:23:47. > :23:46.three-time reigning Lakeside champion, it is Anastasia

:23:47. > :27:15.Dobromyslova! David Cameron is out. Bobby for

:27:16. > :27:31.Prime Minister! I don't think he would like the seat. Definitely not.

:27:32. > :28:14.So, Karin, struggling in this first leg. Making it easy for Anastasia.

:28:15. > :28:27.Well, she's starting off where she left off last year. What a player,

:28:28. > :28:36.this young lady. Winning that first leg against the darts, as well.

:28:37. > :28:45.Last day, Anastasia beat her opponent in the quarterfinals,

:28:46. > :28:52.including a 144 checkout. Trina Gulliver was seen off in the

:28:53. > :29:04.semifinals. Lisa Ashton was vanquished in the final as Anastasia

:29:05. > :29:19.retained her title. A few nerves heading back to the big stage. She's

:29:20. > :29:29.been missing for three years. One thing on a side is big game

:29:30. > :29:33.experience is -- she is a former winner of the world dart/ B, she has

:29:34. > :29:57.won the world Masters since then as well. -- World Darts Trophy. I think

:29:58. > :30:15.this is a bigot asked then she can handle will stop but let's see. --

:30:16. > :30:39.this is a bigger shot than she can handle, but we'll see.

:30:40. > :31:08.The Chancellor Karin Krappen against the throw. She has to take it. And

:31:09. > :31:15.she has! OK. Well, they say darts is all on the day. Could this be a good

:31:16. > :31:25.day for Karin? Takes the first leg and that was the dart that did it.

:31:26. > :31:45.She has not found her range yet, as she? -- has she?

:31:46. > :31:52.I think it is fair to say that last year there was an air of

:31:53. > :31:57.invincibility around Anastasia. She came into the Lakeside not just on

:31:58. > :32:04.the back of winning at the previous year, but in good form. Only three

:32:05. > :32:09.tournament wins in 17 of the last 12 months. That area of invincibility

:32:10. > :32:27.has, to some extent been eroded. The world champion. Hoping to defend

:32:28. > :32:46.it with pride. That puts well ahead now. -- puts

:32:47. > :33:37.for a well ahead. A big visit this. She needed the

:33:38. > :34:00.treble 17. Anastasia under a little bit of pressure here.

:34:01. > :34:28.She is giving it away, Dobromyslova. She has got it! She holds her

:34:29. > :34:37.throat. Successive legs were Karin Krappen, known as the Dutch dolphin.

:34:38. > :34:45.Everything effectively with the throw up to this point. I don't know

:34:46. > :34:46.where the dolphin came from but there are a lot of bubbles on her

:34:47. > :35:06.shirt. It has already been a successful

:35:07. > :35:26.weekend for the Dutch female contingent.

:35:27. > :35:39.Tony Martin. He will be pleased with that. Tony is Anastasia's husband. I

:35:40. > :35:53.have seen him go through the pain over many years. A good player

:35:54. > :36:00.himself, Tony. He has played in the championship.

:36:01. > :36:09.Both players on 160 after 12 darts. Anastasia could not take it out,

:36:10. > :36:39.which gives Karin and opportunity. Karin with an opportunity for this

:36:40. > :37:36.first set. Oh, problems. Problems. Now then. He may not be smiling

:37:37. > :37:49.after this. It is in! Her husband seemed more pleased than she did.

:37:50. > :38:03.Absolutely delighted. Getting there! And again he will be cheering. Oh,

:38:04. > :38:09.dear. One out of nine doubles hit for Anastasia is the story of the

:38:10. > :38:19.first set. She has missed seven darts at doubles. It is so difficult

:38:20. > :38:55.to defend. I think in total Trina Gulliver had eight titles.

:38:56. > :39:10.It is all quiet up there. No high scores. Very nerve wrecking.

:39:11. > :39:20.Well, Minnie mouse will be coming shortly. Watch out. Just giving her

:39:21. > :39:24.a ring! I am disappointed. I would have thought mighty mouse's

:39:25. > :39:32.superpowers extended to telepathy. You wouldn't need to text somebody.

:39:33. > :39:44.Everybody is doing it now. That has spoiled my day. She will be hugely

:39:45. > :39:51.disappointed with the distance with which she missed that, Anastasia.

:39:52. > :40:05.Another chance for Karin. Not this time.

:40:06. > :40:19.They are not hitting those doubles. This may not be heard day. Could it

:40:20. > :40:23.be this young lady's date? -- day. The nerves are creeping in all over.

:40:24. > :40:46.You wonder how crucial that will be. It is more exciting than finishing!

:40:47. > :41:07.Yes, last! Relief for Anastasia. Finally

:41:08. > :41:12.hitting a double. It was her sixth attempt at a double in that lake

:41:13. > :41:17.alone. It was a crucial leg. If Karin won that, it would have been

:41:18. > :41:23.against the throw. Karin would have been a setup and a break-up. Yes, I

:41:24. > :41:31.think she could certainly go to town now. That really did help. Hitting

:41:32. > :42:02.that double. Good response though from Krappen.

:42:03. > :42:12.She is finding her range better, Brom are slow.

:42:13. > :43:13.She pushed it through hard through the air. -- too hard. Karin Krappen

:43:14. > :43:25.will be coming back for double top. Good pressure applied by Anastasia.

:43:26. > :43:28.The pressure is telling on Karin. You cannot afford, against a

:43:29. > :43:36.three-time world champion, to miss as many doubles as she has in this

:43:37. > :43:44.second set. Emphatic punishment from Anastasia Dobromyslova. She breaks

:43:45. > :43:58.the Karin Krappen throat and is two legs up in this second set. Yes, she

:43:59. > :44:08.has been let off a little bit here. That was the finish. And that was

:44:09. > :44:15.the smile. There are years, Steve bunting. We're waiting to see the

:44:16. > :44:19.number one seed. Overwhelming favourite with the bookmakers as

:44:20. > :44:32.well. He is in the top half of the draw. It seems the easier. I say

:44:33. > :44:38.seems. You never know. V1 -- he won the wing Mao world Masters this year

:44:39. > :44:40.and never dropped a set through the tournament. Never been done before.

:44:41. > :44:51.That is the form he is in. Settling down a little. 170 is a

:44:52. > :45:57.finish. Karin Krappen coming back for 88.

:45:58. > :46:32.That is to save the set. Still a chance. She certainly missed the

:46:33. > :46:58.double. Karin is bust. She knows what she needs now. Oh, look at

:46:59. > :47:16.this. No score. OK, I'm sure this one is going in. And it does. A

:47:17. > :47:17.smile from Anastasia. The message was clear from Tony. Just keep

:47:18. > :48:07.concentrating. One set apiece. Quick change. Like a

:48:08. > :48:13.relay race, just passing it on. Seven legs of darts in this match so

:48:14. > :48:19.far and in six out of those seven, both players have had shot at

:48:20. > :48:25.doubles. The problem Karin had in that second set, her finishing

:48:26. > :48:45.letting her down. She did not hit a set. She had chances to take all

:48:46. > :48:59.three legs and she lost all of them. Here today, the nine time world

:49:00. > :49:21.champion. I'm sure her world record will never be beaten. Well! Avenue

:49:22. > :49:40.although Mrs, what a finish. Her husband is dumbfounded! -- after all

:49:41. > :49:53.those misses. Those 13 missed darts at doubles in the second set are

:49:54. > :50:13.behind her now. Anastasia replying in kind. Back in the treble. And

:50:14. > :50:38.another! This come from? Brilliant. They seem to have speeded it up,

:50:39. > :50:54.maybe that's why. Well, if she takes out an 87, the champion is in real

:50:55. > :51:21.trouble. How costly will be? -- will that be? Oh, no! No score. 20 for

:51:22. > :51:50.double top, and she's missed it as well. No score. Here we go. Double

:51:51. > :51:53.10. Yes, right in the corner! Karin's husband knew she should have

:51:54. > :52:11.had that one. There it is. She's got to forget about the last

:52:12. > :52:53.and concentrate on the game. No need to switch there, she could

:52:54. > :53:02.have stayed on the 20s. Now, the pedigree of the champion really

:53:03. > :53:17.coming to the fore. Yes, she's been allowed to as well.

:53:18. > :53:34.Great crowd being entertained over the last couple of days.

:53:35. > :54:04.The ladies do command respect. All eyes on the 19th here. Went for the

:54:05. > :54:39.bulls eye and hit the single ten, which wasn't the worst option in the

:54:40. > :54:55.world. Nerves. Unlucky. Double 10. That's the one. Yes, deep depths. --

:54:56. > :55:08.breaths. It was the break of throw that she needed. Double 10 has been

:55:09. > :55:22.kind to work. -- to her. If she holds here then she is through.

:55:23. > :56:41.A seasoned veteran on the Lakeside stage. He is only 20. Finishing line

:56:42. > :56:55.in sight for Anastasia. Karin needs a big score. It doesn't look like

:56:56. > :57:08.it's going to happen. Double 16. Rarities. -- there it is. She is the

:57:09. > :57:12.first seed in the women's tournament to make it through to the second

:57:13. > :57:15.round. Karin fought valiantly but too many missed doubles in that

:57:16. > :57:29.second set did for her. A terrific tussle, ladies and

:57:30. > :57:46.gentlemen. Betsy it for both of them as they lead -- they leave the

:57:47. > :57:51.stage. Karin Krappen and Anastasia. She is rude to the former -- she is

:57:52. > :58:15.rude to the quarterfinals. Well, Bobby George, we saw a glimpse

:58:16. > :58:22.of what we expect from Anastasia, but really she did not find the form

:58:23. > :58:27.we thought she would. She played terribly, to be honest. I've never

:58:28. > :58:36.seen are playing that bad. She is a really good scorer will stop all the

:58:37. > :58:47.darts were going below the trouble. -- treble. It was a bit boring, to

:58:48. > :59:03.be honest. You didn't know who was going to win and then she bucked her

:59:04. > :59:07.ideas about all stop -- up a bit. She won't play as badly as that

:59:08. > :59:12.again all tournament - if she does, she will be out. I've never seen a

:59:13. > :59:16.play that badly in this championship or even elsewhere. She's always

:59:17. > :59:25.consistent and reliable. It's a shame, really. But she's done their

:59:26. > :59:33.job, shall be happy. Let's head down to hear from Anastasia who is with

:59:34. > :59:40.Rob Walker. You barely know how to lose at this venue but you had to

:59:41. > :59:44.dig deep there. Yes, every year, from the beginning I knew it would

:59:45. > :59:56.be difficult. I know how good Karin is. You needed the double 10. I

:59:57. > :00:05.can't even remember when I'm there. I just have to do what I have to do.

:00:06. > :00:10.Sometimes, it doesn't matter how pretty it is as long as you get over

:00:11. > :00:17.the line. You know what you're talking about, don't you! Not as

:00:18. > :00:28.much as you. That was one to beget about. You know you've got to art

:00:29. > :00:31.your game. -- up your game. Tomorrow at nine o'clock day will see me down

:00:32. > :00:37.there at the practice board, definitely. Are you confident you

:00:38. > :00:45.can add to your collection? Of course I do. I'm the only person who

:00:46. > :00:47.can stop me. If I don't feel confident. I have to believe in

:00:48. > :00:58.myself. No one has ever said that to Rob

:00:59. > :01:05.Walker before! She booked her ideas up, we got to see what she is about.

:01:06. > :01:11.That is somebody who will take out her mid-finishes when she needs to

:01:12. > :01:15.to win the game. She did struggle. The double 10 got her out of

:01:16. > :01:22.trouble. She hit it at the right time. She was unlucky a few times

:01:23. > :01:26.not to hit it. She hit the last set of doubles and she won. Overall, a

:01:27. > :01:32.bad performance but a good result. You can get in touch with any BBC

:01:33. > :01:37.sport programmes, including the darts. He is on Twitter, believe it

:01:38. > :01:41.or not. It does not know how to work it but his wife does it. And the

:01:42. > :01:47.Facebook tag is the same as the Twitter tag for the BBC. When you

:01:48. > :01:50.want to get in contact, you can. We will move onto the next match here

:01:51. > :01:56.at the Lakeside, only halfway through. Next up is Bobby's son who

:01:57. > :02:00.made his debut here four months into playing last year and reached the

:02:01. > :02:06.semifinal. His opponent is formidable, Robbie Green is very

:02:07. > :02:16.focused but Richie George has had other things on his mind. It is nice

:02:17. > :02:19.to be back, I did not have much pressure getting here this year. I

:02:20. > :02:23.feel more relaxed than the first time but I did all right last year.

:02:24. > :02:30.But I feel comfortable, relaxed. It is nice to be back. I put a lot of

:02:31. > :02:36.effort in at the beginning of the year, had a baby in July, Edward, so

:02:37. > :02:40.had a few months off. I did not start playing much until September

:02:41. > :02:48.so it took a few months to get back into it. I am putting the others in

:02:49. > :02:58.now so it is coming together again. Hopefully I can do a bit better than

:02:59. > :03:04.last year. I am all right! I get a good 12 sleep every night. My Mrs

:03:05. > :03:08.does all the work mainly. He is getting to six months now so he is

:03:09. > :03:13.starting to get a bit of character in him. A bit like me. Which is

:03:14. > :03:21.good, nothing like the mum! I'm joking. I give it more for him and

:03:22. > :03:31.her now, I've got my own little family so I've got to grow up a bit.

:03:32. > :03:39.Same hospital, same room, same Doctor, same midwife. Rooms opposite

:03:40. > :03:43.when we first went in. He had his, she went off and then my wife went

:03:44. > :03:47.in. A long three days at the General Hospital. It was all right in the

:03:48. > :03:51.end. It would have been good if they were on the same day it would have

:03:52. > :03:59.been a bit strange, but 23 hours apart, so near enough. The old man

:04:00. > :04:07.is probably the worst. He loves it, he does. But is nice to see. Edward

:04:08. > :04:17.has got little Robert Haswell. He has a lot of work on his hands. A

:04:18. > :04:25.lot of people have not got so I am privileged to have that around me.

:04:26. > :04:30.Darts is an easy game to play but a hard game to play well. The more

:04:31. > :04:34.hours you do, it is the muscle memory and the confidence, and

:04:35. > :04:38.hopefully, yeah, last year I did really good. It may not happen this

:04:39. > :04:43.year but it is not the end of the world, there is always next year.

:04:44. > :04:49.That is the way I look at it. He is so laid back at times, your son, he

:04:50. > :04:52.is almost asleep! And a little glimpse of the doting grandfather.

:04:53. > :05:01.Have you mellowed out a bit now? Not really. I can with them all the

:05:02. > :05:05.time. You have got more of the bond. I am not saying anything but you did

:05:06. > :05:10.bring these with you today, that is the first time this has happened. On

:05:11. > :05:15.the oche, I don't know what to expect from Ritchie, you will have

:05:16. > :05:20.to tell me. Like you said, you talked quite well there, it is on

:05:21. > :05:30.the day, if it is OK, if not, you come back next year. Last year he

:05:31. > :05:42.found his feet. Robbie will be formidable, focused, we like him. He

:05:43. > :05:51.is a great player. The two RG! Against each other. This is the

:05:52. > :05:58.hardest prediction. Robbie Green is the favourite but will you still

:05:59. > :06:07.back Richie to win? Obviously I want my son to win, obviously. I hope it

:06:08. > :06:14.doesn't lose. But... I think he has got his work cut out. Can I say it

:06:15. > :06:19.that way? That is perfect. No problem, grandfather. Let's get more

:06:20. > :06:24.live .com the BBC as we pass over to our MC. He went to Alton Towers and

:06:25. > :06:31.was only allowed on the teacups. Here is Little Richard Ashdown.

:06:32. > :06:38.Ladies and gentlemen, the 2014 Lakeside World Championships here at

:06:39. > :06:43.the whole of world darts. We now introduce a former world Masters

:06:44. > :06:46.finalist, the 2012 Belgium open champion, the number four seed, it

:06:47. > :08:15.is Robbie Green! We now introduce an international

:08:16. > :08:19.open finalist, a Lakeside world semifinalist last year. He is a chip

:08:20. > :08:27.off the old block, it is Richie Rich, Richie George!

:08:28. > :09:15.He may be a father but he has the mother of all challenges this

:09:16. > :09:19.afternoon, Richie George against Robbie Green. Athos Alexander is

:09:20. > :09:21.joined in the commentary box by a man still to throw his first darts

:09:22. > :09:34.this year, Scott Mitchell. Yes, he pleased everyone including

:09:35. > :09:37.his old man with a run through to the semifinals on his debut last

:09:38. > :09:47.year. Since then he has become a dad. With thanks to Scott in the box

:09:48. > :09:52.with me. It is significant time away from the oche, stepping up to the

:09:53. > :09:57.nappy, has it had a detrimental affect on his. ? It is the fourth

:09:58. > :10:00.seed Robbie Green who starts as hot favourites this afternoon. Since

:10:01. > :10:05.reaching the quarterfinals last year, he has reached three ranking

:10:06. > :10:09.semifinals and two finals, but not since 2012 in Belgium as the man

:10:10. > :10:15.they call Kong been crowned king. Maybe, just maybe, this is the place

:10:16. > :10:23.for a major coronation. How do you see it, Scott? I think I probably

:10:24. > :10:27.see it pretty much the same as Bobby sees it. Robbie is definitely the

:10:28. > :10:35.favourite. Ritchie will have to find some of that form from last year to

:10:36. > :10:37.getting through this match. And we are under, it is Robbie Green who

:10:38. > :10:51.has the darts in this first leg. How will he be feeling? He will be

:10:52. > :10:57.pleased that that 60, nice and sweet, the first dart, settles you

:10:58. > :11:02.down. I was chatting to him half an hour or so ago, Robbie Green. This

:11:03. > :11:08.is his fifth appearance at Lakeside, never been beyond the quarterfinals,

:11:09. > :11:12.which he reached last year. We always hear it, it is a special

:11:13. > :11:17.atmosphere on that special stage, and however many times you are here,

:11:18. > :11:22.there are butterflies that you don't get elsewhere. Is that right?

:11:23. > :11:25.Definitely, it is a tournament that is not the same as any other

:11:26. > :11:30.tournament we play in. You come in the driveway, it is special as soon

:11:31. > :11:35.as you drive in, the hairs stand up on the back of your neck. We know

:11:36. > :11:40.that this is our one time of year that we get to shine, and you don't

:11:41. > :11:46.want to fail. This is live on BBC Two, it is Sunday afternoon, and,

:11:47. > :11:52.being favourite brings its own pressures. Particularly with this

:11:53. > :11:56.game because Robbie and Ritchie get on so well together. I know back in

:11:57. > :12:00.the summer Robbie did a presentation down here, and Ritchie went and

:12:01. > :12:03.picked him up, took him back to George Wall, a couple of days

:12:04. > :12:04.practice then went to the British Open together. They are good mates

:12:05. > :12:20.as well. He has left himself double 16 if he

:12:21. > :12:31.comes back. He will come back. He will be looking to set it up now.

:12:32. > :12:44.Neither of those were really close. An early chance for Richie George.

:12:45. > :12:50.Yes! First leg, Richie George. Second leg, Ritchie to throw first,

:12:51. > :12:54.game on. A good start for Ritchie, nice and confident. First dot, a

:12:55. > :13:00.double, always makes you feel good. How will Robbie be feeling? He will

:13:01. > :13:04.feel he has given that leg away but all you can do is try to forget it

:13:05. > :13:20.as fast as it happened will stop otherwise it weighs on your back.

:13:21. > :13:27.We saw 16 leg in a row with the darts in a match this afternoon.

:13:28. > :13:37.Happy thing that happened before? It was extraordinary, it doesn't often

:13:38. > :13:50.happen that way . A great game, Christian Kist Genscher ragout of

:13:51. > :13:54.Japan. He will be a bit disappointed with that. You don't want to do that

:13:55. > :14:02.when you have got the darts. Especially having just won a leg.

:14:03. > :14:13.Absolutely. Now Robbie is on for a 180. Not far away!

:14:14. > :14:20.Looked to have had a slip out of his hands. I am sure he will be back to

:14:21. > :14:31.the table for a wide on the cloth! He needed to hit something big there

:14:32. > :14:47.to pressure Robbie. That bounced off the barrel, I think

:14:48. > :15:05.he caught the other flight. Ball missed doubles out of four for

:15:06. > :15:19.Robbie Green, make it five out of five. Seven out of seven.

:15:20. > :15:32.A chance to steal the leg that. You feel he needs the double 10.

:15:33. > :15:43.This is to level the first set at one legged APs. Already, he has

:15:44. > :15:56.missed nine doubles. -- one leg apiece. More than 1000 people in

:15:57. > :16:04.here, but you can hear Ruth, bless her. She won't thank me for saying

:16:05. > :16:12.that. I think Rob's daughter Chelsea was standing with her as well.

:16:13. > :16:20.Robbie told me he's been practising with Alan Norris. Alan said, Robbie

:16:21. > :16:26.has been ripping my head off in practice. Then he complained about

:16:27. > :16:34.the lights around the board. There is always something with you guys!

:16:35. > :16:52.Perhaps I should get practising him -- with him before Tuesday. A good

:16:53. > :17:08.switch there from Green. One leg apiece in the first set.

:17:09. > :17:36.Ritchie is way back on 338, just not binding that rhythm at the moment.

:17:37. > :18:02.It puts the pressure back on. 140 it is. The pressure is on. Trouble 18

:18:03. > :18:15.leaves tops. -- treble. Another missed dart at a double. Yes! There

:18:16. > :18:29.was a shake of the head where Robbie wasn't impressed with himself. Tell

:18:30. > :18:33.me, when it starts to go wrong, how do you turn it around? There is

:18:34. > :18:40.almost no chance to give yourself a proper talking to. You have to keep

:18:41. > :18:47.leaving that you are playing well enough to get those chances and it

:18:48. > :18:53.is just a case of taking them. The sports psychologist and

:18:54. > :19:07.psychiatrists, did they ever come into it? Yes, some of us have them

:19:08. > :19:11.and they do work. The first maximum of the match - the first, we hope,

:19:12. > :19:42.of many. Six starts from 129 for the set.

:19:43. > :19:56.That would have left double 18. He will be back. Richie George adding

:19:57. > :20:03.some much-needed pressure. A maximum of his own? These are set points.

:20:04. > :20:10.There is the double top that secures the first set. No messing from

:20:11. > :20:29.Richie comedy wants to straight back in there. That is his temper, that

:20:30. > :20:36.is his pace. -- from Richie, he wants to get straight back in. That

:20:37. > :20:42.is his tempo. How about that? This is the confidence that comes with

:20:43. > :20:57.taking that first step. It gives you a leg up on the game. He starts this

:20:58. > :21:05.game with a maximum. I know that his son is watching at home. I know he

:21:06. > :21:18.will be shouting and screaming at the telly for his dad will stop --

:21:19. > :21:32.his dad will stop --. He will be pleased with dad.

:21:33. > :21:52.Richie is starting to find the range.

:21:53. > :22:02.Haven't had a dart at a double since the first leg. Yes! That is the

:22:03. > :22:11.fourth leg in a row for Robbie Green. These two have been talking

:22:12. > :22:15.about practice, George and his lack of it, having become a dad for the

:22:16. > :22:19.past year, and Robbie Green told me he's been practising for four hours

:22:20. > :22:43.a day. That is what practice does right there, I guess. Robbie is an

:22:44. > :22:51.avid practice. -- practiser. 24 years is long enough to wait, isn't

:22:52. > :22:56.it? It is. If you are new to darts, we're talking about a perfect nine

:22:57. > :23:08.dart leg which was last accomplished here in 1990. But what a leg this is

:23:09. > :23:32.from Robbie Green. A ten darter. That doesn't happen every year. Ten

:23:33. > :23:39.dart leg! Take a bow, Robbie Green. Jamie is sat there, very pleased

:23:40. > :23:44.with that ten dart leg from dad. He's found his range now, hasn't he?

:23:45. > :23:49.I said to him, you know you are the hot favourite to win, and he looked

:23:50. > :24:00.at me and nodded as if to say, yes, of course I am. Richie burst onto

:24:01. > :24:05.the scene at Lakeside last year and just set the place alight. This

:24:06. > :24:10.year, it was always going to be hard bound to come back - with such a

:24:11. > :24:25.tough start against Robbie again as well. However, he did survive seven

:24:26. > :24:34.match dart in his first round match. -- match darts. So he knows what it

:24:35. > :24:49.is like to come back from the blink -- the brink.

:24:50. > :25:06.Both those trebles spell danger for Richie. 64 for a two set lead. He is

:25:07. > :25:16.certainly not missing those doubles now. What is going through Richie's

:25:17. > :25:31.mind right now? We can see what his mum thinks. This is a tough one to

:25:32. > :25:41.watch for the family. To be fair, no one could have lived with Robbie in

:25:42. > :25:53.the last two. 24 darts! Those four hours of actors today are obviously

:25:54. > :26:08.serving him well. -- of practice. There we go again. Maximum number

:26:09. > :26:29.for Robbie Green. Robbie is on fire. Six legs in a row. Fantastic

:26:30. > :26:44.averages there for Robbie Green. 95 stop -- that takes keeping up with.

:26:45. > :27:09.Richie will now try to pressure this 62 of Robbie's. Hasn't missed many

:27:10. > :27:37.of them since the first leg. Richie needs to take this. Ruth is very

:27:38. > :27:40.happy and quite, she should be. I think every player in the first

:27:41. > :27:56.round would like to send a message as to how well they are playing.

:27:57. > :28:13.Robbie has certainly done that. Just for a change, Richie bites back. He

:28:14. > :28:23.has yet to holders broke, though. -- to hold his throw, though. Since

:28:24. > :28:26.then, it has been one-way traffic. When the draw came out, we were all

:28:27. > :28:37.looking forward to this game, and it has not disappointed as. -- us.

:28:38. > :28:43.Definitely a good spirit between the two guys there, showing the

:28:44. > :29:24.friendship. Trouble 17 would have left the bull will stop -- the

:29:25. > :29:36.bull. The first leg ease once in the opening leg of the match. -- he's

:29:37. > :29:41.won since the opening leg. He needs to hold this leg, which is what he

:29:42. > :29:57.has been doing, which has been the problem for him. Already, ready to

:29:58. > :30:04.throw. This is much better from Richie George. He is a rhythm

:30:05. > :30:14.player, so he has upped the pace a bit and is reaping the rewards. They

:30:15. > :30:19.are both witty quick. That's why I thought it would be a good game. But

:30:20. > :30:32.Rob is clinical today. He heads back for a drink of water.

:30:33. > :30:40.Unusually for him he has not found a time plus in three visits. That is

:30:41. > :30:46.what winning a leg can do for you. Ritchie has gone straight back in

:30:47. > :31:00.with ton-40, 55 was a bit unlucky. Such a momentum sport, this.

:31:01. > :31:04.In the second set, no-one touching Robbie Green. Three perfect... Once

:31:05. > :31:23.again. -- three perfect darts. Ritchie to throw first, game on!

:31:24. > :31:37.Robbie Green is a leg away. When you are playing well, as a

:31:38. > :31:44.Robbie is on the big stage, how much fun is it? It is great. I have been

:31:45. > :31:49.lucky enough to do that once in my visits! But it is great. It is not

:31:50. > :31:54.the fact that you are playing well, but that your opponent knows you are

:31:55. > :31:57.playing well. And the crowd loans you are playing well. Absolutely,

:31:58. > :32:01.and they get behind everything you are doing and its birds you on. --

:32:02. > :32:17.it spurs you on. 180!

:32:18. > :32:25.Dominant darts from the man they call Kong.

:32:26. > :32:29.180! Terrific response from Ritchie! I'm

:32:30. > :32:33.not going away, he says, you will have to actually beat me! That is

:32:34. > :33:24.what makes him special, he never gives up.

:33:25. > :33:31.the match! Robbie Green! Was it ever in

:33:32. > :33:31.the match! Robbie Green! Was it ever support back home will be over the

:33:32. > :33:51.moon. A superb It did not take Kong long. He

:33:52. > :34:15.Championships, Richie George and, It did not take Kong long. He

:34:16. > :34:20.steam-rolled Richie George. World-class darts. He is a big

:34:21. > :34:38.presence at the Lakeside. Bobby, that is what we saw in the

:34:39. > :34:42.early rounds from Robbie Green last year as well. When he is scoring he

:34:43. > :34:50.is formidable, his hitting average is above 95, and we are seen ten

:34:51. > :34:56.darters. He played very well there. Ritchie didn't score like he can

:34:57. > :34:59.score so he was chasing all the time and when he did have a shot the

:35:00. > :35:05.pressure was on him. He was not in the game at all, to be honest.

:35:06. > :35:11.Robbie is very much a form player. When he clicks, he clicks. He will

:35:12. > :35:16.have back-to-back leg. Ten. Followed by a 14. , there is not much you can

:35:17. > :35:21.do when you are up there. You have got to play as well as him, Ritchie

:35:22. > :35:31.was not doing it. He did not play as well as he can play. It is that

:35:32. > :35:42.little bit more you need when you are playing a guy like this. You

:35:43. > :35:49.look at his average, Oprah and tonne for every finish. One dart better

:35:50. > :35:53.every set and he could win this title more than once, it is just

:35:54. > :36:01.that finish where he gets above 33%. If you can score and finish

:36:02. > :36:08.then you will win the title. 45 is a good average. He hit the one 80s

:36:09. > :36:20.when it counted. Ritchie just wasn't in the game at all. The 100 and

:36:21. > :36:26.80s. We said after the first leg, when you clicked, you clicked. To be

:36:27. > :36:31.fair, I think we blew each other out in the first set. Neither of us

:36:32. > :36:38.played like we can. Ritchie struggled throughout. I felt like I

:36:39. > :36:42.was waiting for him to clicks, as I know he can, and he just didn't. I

:36:43. > :36:48.kept beating him to the punch all the time. What about you up there,

:36:49. > :36:56.throwing 100 and 80s, having ten dart legs? It is good to watch. It

:36:57. > :37:06.is not so nice when it is against you. That is why we are on that

:37:07. > :37:11.stage. It is nice when you do it but you have to concentrate on the next

:37:12. > :37:16.leg and getting the game won. The next leg, you could be in the same

:37:17. > :37:20.thing. You must have a lot more confidence this year because last

:37:21. > :37:25.year was a breakthrough year for you, you through sensational darts.

:37:26. > :37:30.It is usually a finalist or champion that has to put you out. This year I

:37:31. > :37:36.have a different type of preparation. I have actually

:37:37. > :37:44.practised this year! It is a start! I feel fresh, because I have never

:37:45. > :37:49.done a lot of the tournaments from September to December and I feel

:37:50. > :37:54.fresher for it. Coming into this, this is the one you want. It is not

:37:55. > :37:58.worth winning all of those and they coming here and flopping. In front

:37:59. > :38:05.of the cameras, we have to perform. The last couple of set is were

:38:06. > :38:09.better than the first. It is a little strange winning a game here

:38:10. > :38:12.at the Lakeside in the World Darts Championship and then having to come

:38:13. > :38:17.up and speak to the daddy! It is a bit awkward. We are good mates and

:38:18. > :38:23.the way, I go down and stay at Bobby's house and he looks after me

:38:24. > :38:28.very well. We have some good chance over the breakfast table. He is an

:38:29. > :38:38.absolute gentleman. Don't come round no more! You are feeling good, you

:38:39. > :38:47.will keep practising four hours a day, not to let the occasion get to

:38:48. > :38:55.you? As I say, I feel fresher and it is no good throwing your rest darts

:38:56. > :38:59.in the first game. I want to be consistent and play well throughout

:39:00. > :39:03.and beat the man in front of me in each game. You did that today in

:39:04. > :39:07.emphatic fashion. Let's hear from the user down there, Richie George.

:39:08. > :39:13.He is inconsolable, crying in the corner. Rob Walker is with him. He

:39:14. > :39:18.wants his money, not his daddy. We will not hear from him. Well done to

:39:19. > :39:22.you, through to the second round. Let's recap everything that has gone

:39:23. > :39:26.on in the first round and the qualifiers and everything so far

:39:27. > :39:32.today. The first game was sensational, Hiroaki Shimizu,

:39:33. > :39:35.qualified out of Japan, he had never been on this stage before. We

:39:36. > :39:39.thought he might have been blown away by the man who once two years

:39:40. > :39:45.ago, Christian Kist. It was a strange game of darts, Christian one

:39:46. > :39:51.but Shimizu hit nine doubles in a row and one over the crowd. Shame he

:39:52. > :39:55.had to say goodbye. Anastasia Dobromyslova, female

:39:56. > :39:59.champion, she has one the last two years. She had an off day but still

:40:00. > :40:05.scraped through against Karin Krappen. She heads to the familiar

:40:06. > :40:10.place of the quarterfinals. And Robbie Green, as we have just

:40:11. > :40:14.witnessed, moated against Richie George, winning in straight sets

:40:15. > :40:23.against George Junior. Averaged well over 90, one in three checkouts and

:40:24. > :40:29.810 darters for good measure. The final game this afternoon is

:40:30. > :40:34.Gary Robson, celebrating 13 times at the Lakeside, 3/4-finals. Last year

:40:35. > :40:38.was a debut for Ron Meulenkamp, so another one today where we are not

:40:39. > :40:42.quite sure what to expect in this final match. Rob Walker has been

:40:43. > :40:46.talking to both of the men to investigate more.

:40:47. > :40:50.We are here at the players hotel and the atmosphere is already beginning

:40:51. > :40:54.to rock and roll. Nothing gets the juices flowing more than an England

:40:55. > :41:02.against Holland clash. Gary Robson and one Meulenkamp. Gaby, your 13

:41:03. > :41:10.dear, you are not at all you? I really am! You still get the buzz

:41:11. > :41:14.here? Three times a quarterfinalist. Do you feel this could be your

:41:15. > :41:18.year? I have done more practised this year than I usually do, lost

:41:19. > :41:22.some weight and stuff so hopefully it will come good at the end. But I

:41:23. > :41:28.lost the last two and I have never lost three on the trot. Ron, you had

:41:29. > :41:33.an unlucky debut a couple of years ago but you are back, you have

:41:34. > :41:38.grown, you have matured. Second time lucky against his fellow? Two years

:41:39. > :41:46.ago was my debut but I have no preparation. My son was in hospital.

:41:47. > :41:50.But now I am feeling fine and ready. Gary, you have known you are facing

:41:51. > :41:56.this guy for a while. How much are you looking forward to getting back

:41:57. > :42:02.on that stage? Indefinitely, the last couple of years out in the

:42:03. > :42:08.first round was disappointing. The atmosphere is always electric. All

:42:09. > :42:12.set for a great encounter. Let's see a handshake between the two, England

:42:13. > :42:16.against Holland. Gary is a lovely guy, one of the

:42:17. > :42:21.nicest on the circuit and every year he tries something different.

:42:22. > :42:32.Psychologist one-year, practice and XJ, don't practice the next year. He

:42:33. > :42:40.tries everything! But the thing is, he comes back every year, he

:42:41. > :42:47.qualifies. Ron is a good player, the Dutch are tidy players because they

:42:48. > :42:53.play all the time, 16 boards in one bar. He was a bit overawed last year

:42:54. > :43:00.but it was his debut so we will atone for that. Interesting matchup.

:43:01. > :43:05.I have to go for the experience this time. 13th time at the Lakeside so

:43:06. > :43:14.he knows what it is like to get introduced on that stage.

:43:15. > :43:21.Ladies and gentlemen, the 2014 Lakeside World Championships here at

:43:22. > :43:26.the home of world darts. We now introduce a former world darts

:43:27. > :43:30.Trophy champion, the reigning Granite city open champion, it is

:43:31. > :44:22.Gary Robson! We now welcome a Dutch

:44:23. > :44:25.international, former French Open champion. It is the bomb, one

:44:26. > :45:14.Meulenkamp! -- Ron Meulenkamp! It is a Gen X and against you and

:45:15. > :45:35.exuberance - just like in the commentary box! -- age and wisdom

:45:36. > :45:44.against youth. Undoubtedly Gary Robson is aimed part of the

:45:45. > :45:48.furniture, but his opponent is not to be underestimated. He returns to

:45:49. > :45:53.the Lakeside after failing to qualify for the event last year.

:45:54. > :45:59.Certainly feels he is in about a placement to leave any was on his

:46:00. > :46:05.last visit in 2012, when he lost to Gary Stone. Will you be able to do

:46:06. > :46:11.himself justice this time around? Gary is a big favourite with the

:46:12. > :46:18.crowd, but he has to get past this first round. That has been his daily

:46:19. > :46:25.on many an occasion. Such a brilliant player, certainly not one

:46:26. > :46:40.the titles he should have over the years. -- won the titles. Ron

:46:41. > :46:59.Meulenkamp to go first. Off we go. A good start. Great expectations here.

:47:00. > :47:21.That's unusual. He really wants to get on with the job.

:47:22. > :47:48.A good start from the Dutchman. 130 followed by 140. This is not add --

:47:49. > :47:53.not bad from Robbo. He's lost some weight and started wearing it rings

:47:54. > :48:14.as well, from the looks of it. -- earrings.

:48:15. > :48:19.We had that good start, a 130 and 140, and he's followed it up with a

:48:20. > :49:05.36 and 45. Very interesting. It wasn't to be. How is this

:49:06. > :49:30.finishing? Double 10. This is the problem. A good start from the

:49:31. > :49:37.youngster. Gary Thompson from west Yorkshire beat him at this stage

:49:38. > :49:46.last year. So slow, I don't think he liked the pace in that match. The

:49:47. > :49:53.darts are flowing this time. You certainly feel it would suit

:49:54. > :50:01.Robbo's natural pace much more if he was playing against a player quicker

:50:02. > :50:03.than Ron Meulenkamp. He might be the bomb but it takes some time to

:50:04. > :50:44.detonate. I like that! There is Petra, Ron's partner. All

:50:45. > :50:54.the wide single friends seem to be this year. -- wives and girlfriends.

:50:55. > :51:07.I've even brought mine. No cooking for me!

:51:08. > :51:33.145 four Gary as he looks to hold his first leg. The crucial last

:51:34. > :51:41.third dart. All eyes on 20 double top for Robson. He made it difficult

:51:42. > :51:59.with the first dart double-time, still a finish. Always a relief to

:52:00. > :52:06.get the first one on the board. Robbo is managing that, both legs

:52:07. > :52:09.going with the throw so far. Only two left-handers have ever won the

:52:10. > :52:21.World Championship here at the leg side. -- the Lakeside. And Les

:52:22. > :52:34.Wallace won it in a kilt! Good marker, that one. So, it is

:52:35. > :53:00.evenly matched. Holland has produced some players

:53:01. > :53:15.over the years. A great nation for darts. Nine excellent Dutchman in

:53:16. > :53:36.the men's tournament alone here this year. Ron Meulenkamp is hoping to

:53:37. > :53:54.join them. Such a relaxed throw, have you noticed? Nice and easily

:53:55. > :54:10.through. Just have a look. There we go. Straight out.

:54:11. > :54:25.Left-hander, 220. That would put pressure on Robson's finish. A

:54:26. > :54:47.chance here for Gary against the darts. A fraction away. Ron

:54:48. > :55:00.Meulenkamp on Shanghai 20s. Shanghai it is! Plenty of applause. A lot of

:55:01. > :55:18.people from Holland here, supporting their players. 180! They will also

:55:19. > :55:27.celebrate that maximum. His second of the match. Both the legs that

:55:28. > :55:36.he's lost, he has had the darts at doubles. Everything is still going

:55:37. > :55:50.with the throw a to this point. -- the thrower. I am impressed by Ron

:55:51. > :56:11.Meulenkamp. He seems to hold his call, nothing distract them. -- his

:56:12. > :56:24.cool, nothing distracts him. Yes! That was perfect. Absolutely

:56:25. > :56:51.brilliant. That was his first 180. It leaves him with 161 here. It is

:56:52. > :57:07.the bull. A big chance for Meulenkamp. 88 for the set. He

:57:08. > :57:21.misses it! Not the best double, double 17. He's got the chance. Both

:57:22. > :57:54.on the wire! Cool as a cucumber, this lad. Pulled that one. He knows.

:57:55. > :58:19.Gary is back. Can Robbo punishing? -- punish him? No. Busted. He has

:58:20. > :58:37.missed two darts at 88, react 44. Here we go, double 4. That will do

:58:38. > :58:42.it! He is already carrying on. I think he's rushing it a bit, don't

:58:43. > :58:48.you? He is playing much more quickly than any was when he first came up

:58:49. > :58:52.on stage in the first couple of legs. Understandable that it will

:58:53. > :58:57.play on his mind. Eight successive darts at doubles missed, which would

:58:58. > :59:05.have given him the first set. All the years to do here is hold and he

:59:06. > :59:25.has that first set anyway. -- all he has to do. It's the sets that count.

:59:26. > :59:40.Just the advantage of the throw, Meulenkamp. Oh, yes. Robbo is going

:59:41. > :00:03.to be shaken up here. 180! What a difference that makes. No answer.

:00:04. > :00:17.Trouble 20. -- treble. He is smiling away.

:00:18. > :01:04.That was below. So, chances here. Can't finish now.

:01:05. > :01:19.Game, shot, and the first set, Ron Meulenkamp! Second set, first leg,

:01:20. > :01:23.Gary to throw first. Game on! That is the first building block for the

:01:24. > :01:27.Dutchman. He failed to take a single set in his previous appearance on

:01:28. > :01:32.the Lakeside stage when he lost to Gary Stone a couple of years ago.

:01:33. > :01:49.Look at this, the averages. Exactly the same. Unbelievable, that. We

:01:50. > :01:56.were not expecting it, we were expecting Robbo to really go to

:01:57. > :02:04.town, but giving Meulenkamp credit, he is in his zone.

:02:05. > :02:13.I would like to see this one go all the way. Look at the scoreline, 261

:02:14. > :02:24.apiece, it has been like that all the way through. 180! The first two

:02:25. > :02:25.darts, one either side of the bed. A massive gap for him to hit in the

:02:26. > :02:39.middle, which he obliged. He had the darts in that leg, did

:02:40. > :03:17.Robbo. Batman and Bob O'Hear at the

:03:18. > :03:28.Lakeside this afternoon! -- and Robbo. I will give you a laugh. I

:03:29. > :03:35.think you are in the minority! All six legs so far have gone with the

:03:36. > :03:42.darts. He is just dropping short at the moment getting over the wire at

:03:43. > :03:47.the bottom. Notice how he pulls his hand downwards. Robbo goes straight

:03:48. > :04:11.through, it makes a difference. A crucial trouble with the last dart

:04:12. > :04:13.but this is a chance the gallery. -- a crucial treble with the last. But

:04:14. > :04:38.this is a chance for Gary. That would have given him the

:04:39. > :04:52.finish. Missed the single 19, got a three.

:04:53. > :05:05.Trouble 20 will leave him double 16. Missed that as well so Robert will

:05:06. > :05:34.be -- Robbo will be back. And he hit it there in the corner!

:05:35. > :05:37.The crowd applaud! Third leg, Gary to throw first. Game on. Gaby with

:05:38. > :05:55.the break. It is a set you would expect him to

:05:56. > :05:59.win. He started with the darts. Meulenkamp's biggest win came when

:06:00. > :06:06.he was a 17-year-old, he won the French Open back in 2006, which

:06:07. > :06:09.remains is only ranking title. He only looks 16 at the moment! He has

:06:10. > :06:32.what we would call a baby face. Robbo is in the driving seat in this

:06:33. > :06:49.set. We have had some good entertainment

:06:50. > :07:01.over the weekend. Some fantastic games. More seeds out than a sale at

:07:02. > :07:22.a garden centre. OK, I will take that one.

:07:23. > :07:54.Put him right back there to save this set.

:07:55. > :08:06.Game, shot, and the second set, Gary Robson! A third successive leg!

:08:07. > :08:12.Here's biggest checkout so far. Tidied it -- tied it up at one set

:08:13. > :08:19.of bees. He deserves all of the applause that he got there.

:08:20. > :08:35.Third set, first leg, Ron to throw first, game on. This is his 13th BDO

:08:36. > :08:40.World Championship. Is 14 looking for him?

:08:41. > :08:50.Not just that, it is his 12th consecutive year here. When you

:08:51. > :08:54.consider he has not been seeded that many times, he has had to qualify

:08:55. > :08:58.year after year, it is some achievement. He is a great player.

:08:59. > :09:04.There are some great players from around Northumberland. That it is

:09:05. > :09:09.all on the day, how you feel when you keep going through. But when you

:09:10. > :09:14.have had 12 chances at it, you feel it is not going to happen, but this

:09:15. > :09:31.year I feel it really could happen. A great guy.

:09:32. > :09:41.Certainly had his moment in the past, Robbo. Read quarterfinals,

:09:42. > :09:47.2007, 2009, again two years later, and all lost in a deciding set.

:09:48. > :09:53.Trouble breathing a gift heartbreak was 2011, beaten 5-4 by Martin

:09:54. > :10:13.Phillips -- probably the gift heartbreak.

:10:14. > :10:22.Now then, Meulenkamp. Maybe just the opportunity.

:10:23. > :10:49.Petra slumps disconsolately. Another break, Robbo has taken it. Four leg

:10:50. > :10:53.in a row. Meulenkamp had his chance. So did Robbo, and he took it. Game

:10:54. > :11:05.on. This is good for Robbo but there is

:11:06. > :11:17.a long way to go. That was the double back took it.

:11:18. > :11:27.Little to choose between the two players in terms of the scoring. No,

:11:28. > :11:31.it is just the doubles. Meulenkamp had his chance, did not take it.

:11:32. > :11:48.Robbo took it. The same in the first leg. Makes for good entertainment,

:11:49. > :11:54.though, Jim. That's the main thing. We can see Gary's accuracy is almost

:11:55. > :12:01.twice that of Meulenkamp. And it is the Lakeside that provides it.

:12:02. > :12:21.Comfortable, families, children, it's magic.

:12:22. > :12:29.Prodigiously talented as a youngster, Ron Meulenkamp. Makes the

:12:30. > :12:31.fact that he won the French Open as a 17-year-old, he was also the

:12:32. > :12:49.winner of the junior darts championship.

:12:50. > :13:08.Robbo was nodding his head in the back ground there.

:13:09. > :13:15.Game, shot and the second leg, Gary Robson! He has hit his last four in

:13:16. > :13:28.a row, five legs in a row for Gary. Ron Meulenkamp had an excellent

:13:29. > :13:34.start but, since then, the Bomb has gone off. It is a bouncing bomb this

:13:35. > :14:00.one. And this man here is bouncing. A reminder that each set is the

:14:01. > :14:07.first to three legs and the matches in the first round stage of the best

:14:08. > :14:26.of five sets, first to three sets. A very short discipline, it really is.

:14:27. > :15:06.Petra is biting her nails. Is that what it was? Ultimately. She looked

:15:07. > :15:21.petrified. Trying to remain impassive now, she

:15:22. > :15:26.is. OK, Gary, take it away, two

:15:27. > :15:50.trebles. He cannot finish now so Robbo coming

:15:51. > :15:59.back looking at 70. To take a two set to zero lead.

:16:00. > :16:17.six legs in a row and he has turned this around. He took off like a

:16:18. > :16:30.Boeing jet. Yes! This is great fun for both. -- for Robbo.

:16:31. > :16:38.Great finishing from Gary Robson. After some nervous darts at doubles

:16:39. > :16:43.in that first set, his finishing has been pretty good, he had the 106

:16:44. > :16:47.checkout in the last leg of the second set, hit a double 18 at the

:16:48. > :16:51.best time of asking and in that third set, he only had three darts

:16:52. > :16:57.at doubles and hit them all, wins the set and leads to- one. And it

:16:58. > :17:08.has been doubles that have let him down over the years.

:17:09. > :17:16.13 years, he has been endeavouring to reach the top. Is this his year?

:17:17. > :17:26.That is the big question that must be at now. -- must be asked now.

:17:27. > :17:39.He has not lost a single leg when he has had the darts. This one is going

:17:40. > :18:10.the same way at the moment. Petra once again rubs her hands.

:18:11. > :18:21.That will do, it is enough. A good finish.

:18:22. > :18:38.He thought about the treble 19 there but then thought again.

:18:39. > :19:09.For a seventh successive leg. I think he went for the bull's-eye.

:19:10. > :19:17.Leaves himself 58 but here's a chance for Ron against the darts.

:19:18. > :19:35.Ron to throw first, game on. Only the second time he has hit a double

:19:36. > :19:38.at 14 attempts. He is too good a player to be missing those. What a

:19:39. > :19:53.talent he has. I have seen those flashing light on

:19:54. > :20:09.a police car but not in the Lakeside.

:20:10. > :20:16.He looks like he is losing control at the moment. It is getting through

:20:17. > :20:20.to him, he has got no breathing space.

:20:21. > :20:29.He had the break and an opportunity for Robbo to break back

:20:30. > :20:36.straightaway, 130 ahead after six darts H.

:20:37. > :21:11.180! That has put a whole and that, oh, dear, this is a great one. A big

:21:12. > :21:38.chance for Robbo. Games shot and the second leg. Never

:21:39. > :21:43.give up! Great recovery from Ron Meulenkamp. It is pandemonium here,

:21:44. > :21:49.what a finish. The young against the old. There it is, what a beauty.

:21:50. > :22:01.Gary to throw first, game on. Don't say you will let this one loose now,

:22:02. > :22:09.Robbo. Oh, is it getting through to him? Keep your head up high.

:22:10. > :22:18.You have to give it to him, this youngster. A real edge and flow in

:22:19. > :22:23.this game. When you lose six games in a row which costs you two sets,

:22:24. > :22:27.you would be forgiven for suffering from mental disintegration but it

:22:28. > :22:33.has not happened at all, great response in this fourth set from Ron

:22:34. > :23:00.Meulenkamp. There he goes again. He looks so comfortable.

:23:01. > :23:17.What a fightback this is, applause everywhere, what a match. His fourth

:23:18. > :23:28.maximum. He has given himself a great chance now in this fourth set.

:23:29. > :23:34.He might even have six darts at 80. When he comes back. This fourth set

:23:35. > :23:54.has gone quickly for him. All, perfect, two darts. The

:23:55. > :23:55.standing crowd applauding, is it going to be another one against the

:23:56. > :24:15.head for Robbo? Wow, Jim. The last time that these

:24:16. > :24:18.two met, Ron Meulenkamp was victorious, that was in the

:24:19. > :24:28.semifinals of the Belgian open back in 2011. The first time they met

:24:29. > :24:33.just after that, Gary whitewashed his young Dutch opponent. And this

:24:34. > :24:41.one going right to the wire. The trouble is, what is going through

:24:42. > :24:52.Robbo's head? He has been in this position before.

:24:53. > :24:56.He has really come good has Meulenkamp. In these latter stages.

:24:57. > :25:25.You cannot take it away from him. Is this destined to be Robbo's

:25:26. > :25:29.eighth first round defeat at the Lakeside? With a score like that,

:25:30. > :25:59.not at this stage, Jim. That was a good dad to get over the

:26:00. > :26:09.top of the first one. -- a good start. Against the darts, he is on a

:26:10. > :26:18.13 darter. Can he follow up, time, time, 135, double 16 for a leg

:26:19. > :26:24.against the darts in the decisive set, no problem at all. The momentum

:26:25. > :26:33.swings back the way of the man from Cramlington. Big Robbo just needs to

:26:34. > :26:40.hold twice and he is through. He is back in them. Right back in them.

:26:41. > :26:53.He has got a second wind. And he is sailing now but this kid is also

:26:54. > :27:08.back into it. This is one to relish. Very little to choose between the

:27:09. > :27:45.two men in the scoring. This is brilliant. I have not sat down yet.

:27:46. > :28:04.Oh, dear! This match has really turned this place around. You could

:28:05. > :28:10.have got another three in there at least. All in the corner.

:28:11. > :28:41.They are waiting for it and they have got it! Are, what a leg of

:28:42. > :28:50.darts that was! Absolute brilliance from both players but Robbo takes

:28:51. > :28:55.it. Miss of -- listen to them go mad and it is not over yet. Third leg

:28:56. > :29:02.and it is wrong to throw first, game on. -- it is Ron to throw first. A

:29:03. > :29:06.massive missed darts from Ron Meulenkamp and it looked as if he

:29:07. > :29:12.would not be punished and Gary Robson takes out 143.

:29:13. > :29:23.OK, let's settle it down now. This is great, Jim, isn't it? He is not

:29:24. > :29:24.going down without a fight, great character from the young Dutchman

:29:25. > :29:50.and it is Robbo who is one leg away. It is a leap year! He has got the

:29:51. > :29:55.angel of the North on the back of his shirt, I bet she was dancing

:29:56. > :30:01.with delight when she saw that. Go in. But still, Ron is not giving up

:30:02. > :30:19.the ghost. He won't finish on this one, he will

:30:20. > :30:37.be coming back. Can Gary set himself up a decent

:30:38. > :30:59.finish if Meulenkamp fails to take out 104?

:31:00. > :31:05.Some way away from double top, truth be told. Might be on the wrong end

:31:06. > :31:29.of a Shanghai surprise here. Game, set, and the match, Gary

:31:30. > :31:32.Robson! Absolute brilliant! Jim, was that not a match and a half?

:31:33. > :31:42.Magnificent play from Gary Robson will stop 143 and 120 checkout in

:31:43. > :31:49.his last two leg, Meulenkamp missed darts on them both and Robson

:31:50. > :31:56.punished him. His first round who do is over, he is through! A great

:31:57. > :31:59.match, two to fit finishes to settle the final set. We will send them

:32:00. > :32:05.both off stage. From the Netherlands, Ron Meulenkamp! And,

:32:06. > :32:21.through to the next round, it Robbo, Gary Robson!

:32:22. > :32:31.COLIN MURRAY: He wore his heart on its sleeve, always emotional when

:32:32. > :32:38.Gary Robson is Lakeside. When he began to fire, you really fired. He

:32:39. > :32:47.takes it in five sets over Ron Meulenkamp.

:32:48. > :32:54.Bobby George, for four sets they were so evenly matched, the

:32:55. > :32:57.statistics, and you knew that if somebody -- you knew that somebody

:32:58. > :33:09.had to pull out something magic and Robson did it. The third set -- the

:33:10. > :33:25.double 9 in the third set, from then he was in command. Ron hit more

:33:26. > :33:32.ton-80 's that did not finish. The 143 and the 122 check it. Let's look

:33:33. > :33:36.at the 143, what does this do when you are in a close game and your

:33:37. > :33:40.opponent does this? It takes the wind out of your sails, does it?

:33:41. > :33:48.Yes, when they do that to you, but that is the game. It is no good just

:33:49. > :33:57.scoring, you have to checkout. Don't give them the chance. When he took

:33:58. > :34:01.the lead in the second set, -- in the fifth set, he had the confidence

:34:02. > :34:07.when he got another tonne plus finish, he is thinking, this is less

:34:08. > :34:13.than five minutes ago, bring it on. That is a lovely shot for a dart

:34:14. > :34:22.player. They play on 120 -- they play on the 20s, so the 120 out, he

:34:23. > :34:26.is doing it, I'm glad Robbo did it. Sometimes he practices and

:34:27. > :34:32.practices, never seems to have any luck. He had a bit of luck today. He

:34:33. > :34:38.is a left-handed player, a good school run. A bit short on his

:34:39. > :34:44.finishing. But he is there now, so who knows. One of his finest moment

:34:45. > :34:50.in 13 years, especially the last set. He is talking to Rob Walker.

:34:51. > :34:58.Gary just had a chance to watch the 143 and the Shanghai back. We smile

:34:59. > :35:04.says it all. What a way to finish! Yes, I broke him in the first leg

:35:05. > :35:11.and was thinking, just hold your darts. I got the 143 and thought, he

:35:12. > :35:16.has just done a 142 against me. Silly things go through your head.

:35:17. > :35:22.The first one went in, I took my time, double 16 was just a

:35:23. > :35:25.formality. What did that mean to you? You have had a good run to the

:35:26. > :35:29.quarterfinals three times here but you have also had some early X it

:35:30. > :35:35.and he forced you to produce excellent arrows to get through that

:35:36. > :35:40.match -- early X it. Yes, the first match was scrappy but it went with

:35:41. > :35:46.the darts. I think I won the next six leg. In the next I thought, just

:35:47. > :35:51.hold your darts and you have won it, and he broke the straightaway. I

:35:52. > :35:57.thought, I am in trouble. But then I broke him in the next and it is hold

:35:58. > :36:01.your darts. If it was not for the 143 and the 120, I think you would

:36:02. > :36:06.be speaking to him instead of me. Well, you deserved it. A quick word

:36:07. > :36:11.about the second round match, Robbie Green was great this afternoon. It

:36:12. > :36:16.will be quite some match between the two of you. I am looking forward to

:36:17. > :36:20.it, I am just lucky to be past the first round for the first time in a

:36:21. > :36:25.few years. Top stuff, Cheers. That next round will be against

:36:26. > :36:30.Robbie Green who we saw put in the performance of the day, averaging

:36:31. > :36:36.95, eight ten dart as well. He has the experience to handle it. Yes,

:36:37. > :36:44.but as I always say, darts is on the day. You don't always know what you

:36:45. > :36:52.are going to do. You could come on the next day, same darts, same

:36:53. > :36:57.shoes, same clothes... A little word for Ron Meulenkamp, only 25. Last

:36:58. > :37:02.year he got ducked out 3-0, a lot of treasure will stop a nice fight back

:37:03. > :37:10.here to bring it to three so he should take some encouragement. Yes,

:37:11. > :37:15.he always tries his heart out. He looks a bit bitter to me, as it

:37:16. > :37:18.happens. I think he has been doing some weightlifting. Rather him than

:37:19. > :37:24.others! Let's look at night's matches. We

:37:25. > :37:29.are online from 6pm and on the red button from 8:30pm with four more

:37:30. > :37:32.games, including the oldest man to play at the Lakeside, taking over

:37:33. > :37:36.the record from the man standing beside me. Mike Day, from New

:37:37. > :37:39.Zealand, making his debut at 58 years old. More history in a day of

:37:40. > :37:49.history at the Lakeside. years old. More history in a day of

:37:50. > :37:52.Then the American Jim Whitmire, who faces the experience of Garry

:37:53. > :37:58.Thompson, we like to call him the Recliner. Then the ladies, it is

:37:59. > :38:06.Fallon Sherrock against Rilana Fridays. Then we have double Dutch

:38:07. > :38:08.in the first round matchup. Remco van Eijden beat Barney in the

:38:09. > :38:21.Masters way back in the day. Up until tonight, Bobby, you have a

:38:22. > :38:26.couple of hours to be the oldest swinger in the Lakeside! We saw

:38:27. > :38:30.earlier with a Japanese qualifier, some of the qualifiers will not cut

:38:31. > :38:35.it at this stage, but the stories behind them are great and yet again,

:38:36. > :38:41.the oldest player ever to take to that stage. That is what it is

:38:42. > :38:45.about. But after the old, take out of the old 1s. He will be all right.

:38:46. > :38:52.Who dares wins, not who cares wins. We have got it tough time left over

:38:53. > :39:00.so we will give you some extra action, Latvia against Greece. We

:39:01. > :39:06.would join this, remember it is best five sets, and it is two sets to one

:39:07. > :39:12.to the young Latvian, just one away from victory.

:39:13. > :39:19.The crowd went to see a bit more of this. We have all been supporting

:39:20. > :39:38.Greece to some extent in the last few years. I went to see Zorba.

:39:39. > :39:44.It is eight legs apiece. Here is a lake that this man cannot afford to

:39:45. > :40:07.lose. A chance to take control of the lake

:40:08. > :40:08.that Rasmus failed to take. -- that Razma failed to take. Will it cost

:40:09. > :41:05.him? At 140 brings him back into it. Yes! Fifth leg, game on! Look what

:41:06. > :41:20.it means! He his having a go at himself! There is nobody else

:41:21. > :41:26.there! This is good, very enjoyable. Has a chance here, Razma scored 40

:41:27. > :41:27.with his first visit. Two we would darts, and Michael doesn't take

:41:28. > :41:40.advantage. Michael has really come back to life

:41:41. > :42:12.now. He can't find a treble. When he goes

:42:13. > :42:15.below, he can't get up enough to get into the treble but when he gets the

:42:16. > :42:22.treble he can get the range. Strange, but I just noticed it.

:42:23. > :42:46.Razma with the opposite problem on that visit.

:42:47. > :42:58.Can't finish now whatever he does on his next visit.

:42:59. > :43:03.He will take that, a steady tonne. He has forced themselves back into

:43:04. > :43:48.the match. He has let Razma in here. Oh,

:43:49. > :44:00.disappointment. He never even got a shot at the

:44:01. > :44:12.bull. Double 2 to takers into a deciding

:44:13. > :45:08.set. You can see the pressure in his

:45:09. > :45:18.eyes! But there is the dart at double 1! That gives John Michael a

:45:19. > :45:20.set that takes us into a decider! Fifth and final set, John to throw

:45:21. > :45:34.first, game on. Well, I don't really want to see

:45:35. > :45:35.either one of these go out because they are a credit to this year's

:45:36. > :45:45.championship. No real advantage of throwing first

:45:46. > :45:55.in this deciding set. You have to win by two clearly is.

:45:56. > :46:13.-- clear legs. He is right in the middle of the

:46:14. > :46:17.oche. Looking very despondent with himself. Don't do that, just get on

:46:18. > :46:31.with it. A bit of a lull at the start of this

:46:32. > :46:38.set for Michael, and that is understandable. Mind you, he knew he

:46:39. > :46:59.had a chance in that last leg, maybe that is why he is dejected.

:47:00. > :47:06.Not much to choose between these two.

:47:07. > :47:13.The first finish will be to Michael because 200, you need a lot... And

:47:14. > :47:56.he blocked the bed as well. Yes, he has done it! He will feel

:47:57. > :47:58.better now. Oh, dear. That is great, lovely shot, right in the

:47:59. > :48:14.middle. And he has got the throw. He never looked like winning that

:48:15. > :48:22.leg, did he, Razma? And then a ton 40.

:48:23. > :48:34.He keeps catching the flight. It is just stopping it to go that little

:48:35. > :48:40.bit further up. Yes, good shot. Good cover. He has got a spring in his

:48:41. > :49:47.step again. And so say all of us! Who doesn't

:49:48. > :49:49.love Little Richard? Double 10... He will take that. John Michael loves

:49:50. > :49:58.Little Richard. Brilliant, well done. Third leg is John to throw

:49:59. > :50:01.first, game on. Little Richard, if you are just joining us, does not

:50:02. > :50:11.refer to that Little Richard, it is Richard Ashdown who has just taken

:50:12. > :50:24.over this year as MC at Lakeside. He was our spot in the commentary box

:50:25. > :50:43.for several years. -- our spotter. Razma is looking a bit dejected.

:50:44. > :50:53.That should cheer him up. Study. -- steady.

:50:54. > :51:02.Good recovery, he needed that one. If he can hold here, he will move

:51:03. > :51:16.one leg away. John Michael. He has the habit of coming up short.

:51:17. > :51:21.And failing to recover. Still he has got a finish and 241 is not. This is

:51:22. > :51:41.the opportunity for it. He has done a 126, how about a 141?

:51:42. > :52:12.It can't be done this time. This leaves bull's-eye... Oh,

:52:13. > :52:20.unlucky. So, so near. Yet so far. A big doubt. Can Razma do it?

:52:21. > :52:33.It's there! Game shot and the third leg, Madars Razma. One away. And he

:52:34. > :52:37.has the darts. There it is. Could that be a champion's darts?

:52:38. > :52:49.And in fact, it's only really finding those doubled that sets him

:52:50. > :52:55.apart from John Michael. 53% is his checkout percentage which is

:52:56. > :53:00.excellent. Michael's is 35% which is average.

:53:01. > :53:50.Here we go... Almost here we go. He is a battler, isn't he?

:53:51. > :54:14.He went for the bull with that dart but he is OK. Razma is still on two

:54:15. > :54:29.to two but he won't be after these. -- on 222. It is down to the finish.

:54:30. > :54:46.This is much point, right here. -- match point.

:54:47. > :55:01.He has done eight! -- he has done it. Give pause to these two men on

:55:02. > :55:08.this oche. Latvia, Greece, what an exhibition. Bring them back, bring

:55:09. > :55:14.them all over here now. COLIN MURRAY: He did not have the

:55:15. > :55:21.average that he had the checkout percentage and his coolness in

:55:22. > :55:24.breast year. -- coolness impressed you. It was like a walk in the park

:55:25. > :55:33.for him. The different ways people are, the

:55:34. > :55:36.way they throw at the end of the frame but he was behind first of all

:55:37. > :55:40.in that match. And I thought he would go out because Michael played

:55:41. > :55:45.very well for the first couple of sets but he came back. When you look

:55:46. > :55:48.at the young players coming through, that is normally the right

:55:49. > :55:53.temperament to have, Christian Kist, fairly relaxed, Wesley Harms, dead

:55:54. > :55:58.serious. Even look back at Dave Chisnall who never looked excited.

:55:59. > :56:01.It is the make up. The make-up is different for people. They are

:56:02. > :56:07.probably not like that inside, they probably want their money or

:56:08. > :56:09.something like that but he is so relaxed and like, " do I have to be

:56:10. > :56:22.here? Gert Voss in the first round, that

:56:23. > :56:29.is a hard one. Geert de Vos very tidy, very, very hard guy to beat.

:56:30. > :56:37.Looking forward to that did so much to enjoy, a quick recap of what we
