:00:32. > :00:39.Good evening. It is the final day of the Davis Cup tie between Great
:00:40. > :00:44.Britain and the United States. After two days of play, Great Britain is
:00:45. > :00:48.just one win away from a famous victory, but whatever the outcome
:00:49. > :01:00.today, history will be made. The US have only ever come from to rob a
:01:01. > :01:03.rubbers to win. It is 79 years since Britain have beaten the US in this
:01:04. > :01:14.competition, and a cents they have won on US soil. 15 years since Jim
:01:15. > :01:22.career beat Greg Rusedski. But records are there to be broken.
:01:23. > :01:27.The chance for a famous win in America's backyard to reach the
:01:28. > :01:35.quarterfinals of the Davis Cup. James Ward is producing an fantastic
:01:36. > :01:49.performance for his country here. The Americans look shell-shocked,
:01:50. > :01:57.and Britain are one match away from winning against the United States.
:01:58. > :02:01.Drama in San Diego so far, and more to come this evening. Britain on the
:02:02. > :02:05.verge of victory, and the Wimbledon could seal the win, because Andy
:02:06. > :02:10.Murray is first on court today up against Sam Querrey, and the
:02:11. > :02:16.American has only eaten Britain's number one once in six meetings --
:02:17. > :02:26.only beaten him once. James Ward pulled off a heroic win
:02:27. > :02:36.on Friday to put Great Britain two up. Andy Murray's match started just
:02:37. > :02:40.and are go. Murray's tap ticks were to move the big man all around the
:02:41. > :02:51.court and wait for his chance, which he took there. He went on to win
:02:52. > :02:56.that game for 4-3. But the match was levelled once more, and the set was
:02:57. > :03:03.decided by a tie-break. It was tennis of the highest quality, but
:03:04. > :03:07.query was taking his risks. He missed one of the easiest shots in
:03:08. > :03:16.the opening set gift Murray the opener. This was it, an absolute
:03:17. > :03:20.sitter just on top of the net. But Murray was always so strong in the
:03:21. > :03:27.battle, determined to win this for Great Britain. He took the opening
:03:28. > :03:29.set 7-6, and that means they are just two sets away from a
:03:30. > :03:35.quarterfinal place, up against Italy. We will join it live, on
:03:36. > :03:45.serve in the second. Querrey coming out. Our commentators watching this
:03:46. > :04:23.match are Ross Hutchins, Jonathan Lloyd and Jonathan over end.
:04:24. > :05:09.A forehand attack from Querrey into Murray's backhand corner.
:05:10. > :05:39.A perfect demonstration of their of Sam Querrey's strength. One of the
:05:40. > :05:44.biggest serves in the game, certainly one of the biggest
:05:45. > :05:48.forehands. It is movement around the court that is his weakness, and it
:05:49. > :05:59.is what Murray is trying to exploit here. We have seen big serves in the
:06:00. > :06:01.past doing well. Querrey has won tournament on clay, these big guys
:06:02. > :06:19.can be successful on clay. Look at John Isner last year,
:06:20. > :06:48.beating Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. John Isner missing from the team,
:06:49. > :06:53.making it so different from an American point of view, losing a top
:06:54. > :07:26.ten player. He is out with an ankle injury.
:07:27. > :07:40.That is when it becomes disheartening for Sam Querrey here.
:07:41. > :07:48.He thinks he does everything right, a very good backhand volley, and he
:07:49. > :07:53.expects to have at least another chance in that rally, but Andy
:07:54. > :08:05.Murray has such good feel and court awareness.
:08:06. > :08:13.This is the all-important game number seven. It is critical in
:08:14. > :08:55.terms of how a set can pan out. 77 mph second serve from Murray,
:08:56. > :09:19.short as well. Two big forehands, gets to break point.
:09:20. > :09:27.That is his bread-and-butter serve. It went out wide. He goes there
:09:28. > :09:32.seven times out of ten on the big points. People used to cover it
:09:33. > :09:35.before he improved that sliced serve. It gives him more space out
:09:36. > :10:14.wide. That was the point of the match! And
:10:15. > :10:19.Querrey did really well to stay competitive in that rally after
:10:20. > :10:23.taking a slip and slide, he adjusted rapidly to give himself a chance
:10:24. > :10:32.just there. And what a volley that is. What a lob that was. To get over
:10:33. > :10:50.someone as tall as Sam Querrey from that position.
:10:51. > :11:04.That is some recovery in the game from Murray. Break point down. Three
:11:05. > :11:09.points of absolute class. Trusty movement, and it is valuable to him
:11:10. > :11:18.to have success. A good challenge here from Murray, because Querrey is
:11:19. > :11:22.throwing it at him, and he is having to play some very good tennis to
:11:23. > :11:27.keep himself ahead in this game. This is a very good performance from
:11:28. > :11:32.Querrey after a devastating loss on Friday, this is excellent tennis he
:11:33. > :11:37.is playing. He has gone up a level here, and he has had to to get even
:11:38. > :11:45.close to Andy Murray. It is all mental. It is. How can you change
:11:46. > :11:49.that much in two days? All the pressure that was on, now it has
:11:50. > :11:54.been released, and this game, so much of it is in the head, and that
:11:55. > :12:13.separates the great players. Captain Jim Courier here will have played
:12:14. > :12:20.his part in picking Querrey up. A team meeting, no doubt, last night,
:12:21. > :12:23.and a pre-match chat today. He has spent plenty of time telling him how
:12:24. > :12:40.good he is, and that he can beat anybody when he is firing well.
:12:41. > :12:50.If Querrey can somehow win this match, it will go down to a fifth
:12:51. > :12:55.and final rubber. On the evidence of Friday, you would have to put James
:12:56. > :13:12.Ward down as the slight favourite over Donald Young.
:13:13. > :14:37.There are not many better in the game, a big forehand on all three.
:14:38. > :14:46.Good forehand drive from Querrey, takes them to four all. Querrey is
:14:47. > :14:50.having chance on the Murray serve. He doesn't take take the chances,
:14:51. > :14:54.putting the pressure right back on the British player. That is all he
:14:55. > :15:47.can do, keep building momentum and try and get more opportunities.
:15:48. > :15:58.I'm amazed that Querrey doesn't wear a sweat band. He's like Roddick,
:15:59. > :16:00.never wears a sweat band on his arm. Sweat and it musn't go into the
:16:01. > :16:17.hand. Spoken like a true expert there on
:16:18. > :16:24.sweating issues, Ross. I would have gone by six by this time. You hold
:16:25. > :16:33.the world record, don't you? Game point.
:16:34. > :16:41.Murray 5-4 up, still going for serve. He did serve for the first
:16:42. > :16:47.set, but was broken back. On the way to a try break 4-2 down at that
:16:48. > :16:53.breaker at the changeover. Came out 7-5 ahead. You love that, a player
:16:54. > :16:58.when you can hold a service game that easily, when it gets towards
:16:59. > :17:02.the end of a set. Love serve, you can conserve your energy and not
:17:03. > :17:11.battle to hold on. That was a solid service game there for Murray. He
:17:12. > :17:15.will be telling them the value of the first point in this game to
:17:16. > :17:19.mount the pressure, not give away a cheap point. Play consistently,
:17:20. > :17:33.force Querrey to hit the winner. Super Bowl Sunday. It will be quite
:17:34. > :17:40.something for them here if they could turn this tie around. They
:17:41. > :17:43.only once before have recovered from 2-0 down in a tie to win 3-2 in the
:17:44. > :18:13.Davis Cup, way back in the 30s. UMPIRE: Out! That first point that
:18:14. > :18:42.Ross Hutchins was talking about. Murray is so frustrated there
:18:43. > :18:46.because the hard thing to get right is the length of the lob. He's got
:18:47. > :19:32.that perfect. It's the direction that's let him down.
:19:33. > :20:07.Gave that one away. You very rarely see Murray doing that. Sloppy.
:20:08. > :20:16.It sounded like the chef had thrown his sauce pans out of the kitchen.
:20:17. > :22:29.5-5. It switches back to Murray. Expecting and waiting for Andy
:22:30. > :22:32.almost to just take it up a notch, as we talked about. Whether it
:22:33. > :22:37.happens in the tie-break or this game. Very interesting to see. We
:22:38. > :22:50.know he has that extra gear. Querrey has served well. Any opportunity you
:22:51. > :22:54.just feel shots that will surprise us, not surprise, but make a
:22:55. > :22:59.difference. He played an average game. A couple of strange slot
:23:00. > :23:07.selections. I doubt we will see that this game. Querrey could serve aces.
:23:08. > :23:10.If he doesn't, this game Murray will put pressure on. He doesn't want to
:23:11. > :23:15.go into a tie-breaker. It's dangerous. We saw it in the first
:23:16. > :23:39.one that he snuck out of. Great match, I think, fabulous tennis.
:23:40. > :24:00.The travelling support. Sam Querrey, serving to stay in the set.
:24:01. > :24:58.Leon Smith will be looking for his number one player to impose himself.
:24:59. > :25:05.He knows it too. He really knows it. Top players they are so greedy with
:25:06. > :25:43.every point. It kills them to play a point like that.
:25:44. > :26:05.One more second, please. Thank you. All right.
:26:06. > :26:11.Incredible backhand. On the baseline. He's messed up the high
:26:12. > :26:18.volley. And we're heading for a second successive tie-break.
:26:19. > :26:25.You can have dips in matches obviously. It's strange for someone,
:26:26. > :26:32.of Andy's experience, you don't have that towards the end of a set.
:26:33. > :26:38.That's unusual. He has had a couple of poor service games on the Querrey
:26:39. > :26:42.serve where he doesn't anything. He has to if custody quickly now if
:26:43. > :26:45.he's going to win this tie-breaker. He doesn't want to let the American
:26:46. > :27:07.back into this match, that's for sure.
:27:08. > :27:22.Expect the locals here to really provide that X factor.
:27:23. > :27:50.Excellent point. We haven't seen that backhand down-the-line from
:27:51. > :27:56.Murray too often this match. That just opened the court beautifully
:27:57. > :27:58.for the forehand line. Such a good shot. I wish he would use it more.
:27:59. > :28:35.It's so good. Yep. Not too much emotion from captain
:28:36. > :28:40.Jim Querrey across the weekend. He can sneak this set, we might just
:28:41. > :29:07.see it. Orchestrating to his player to stay
:29:08. > :29:15.on him. Stay attacking. Keep using this aggressive play.
:29:16. > :29:22.Worked well for him that tactic. Murray assisting by dropping a few
:29:23. > :29:36.second serves in short. Oh, just wide! Murray's lacking a
:29:37. > :29:45.little bit of confidence with the volley at the moment, isn't he? He
:29:46. > :29:55.flicked it across court. A heck of an effort there. Just almost got it
:29:56. > :30:03.right. He's not far away. Murray wins his first point on serve, in
:30:04. > :30:05.this tie-break. 4-2, at the change of ends. Exactly as it was in the
:30:06. > :30:13.first set tie-break. Murray won five of the next six
:30:14. > :30:31.points. Crucial words now from the captain.
:30:32. > :30:40.You would pretty much going as far as saying that Querrey has to win
:30:41. > :30:46.this tie-break? Absolutely. Yeah. Barring injury, it's practically
:30:47. > :31:16.impossible to see Murray throwing away a 2-0 lead. 4-2.
:31:17. > :31:25.Long. Querrey, brave again. Once again, came forward, venturing to
:31:26. > :31:27.the net. Over 30 times this match. More than he makes in a tournament
:31:28. > :32:24.sometimes. Querrey is playing a superb
:32:25. > :32:38.tie-break, and he has got four setpoints! He can see the slice, and
:32:39. > :33:28.just nails it. Murray just couldn't deal with it.
:33:29. > :33:44.This tie is not over yet. Sam Querrey starts the American fight
:33:45. > :33:54.back. He has played well all Mac, Sam Querrey. It is very rare to see
:33:55. > :34:05.him that emotional. He is right up for this.
:34:06. > :34:13.This is for a place in the quarterfinals of the world group of
:34:14. > :34:17.the Davis Cup. A stage that Britain hasn't reached since 1986, and it
:34:18. > :34:25.would be some feet if they could get there. These are the results we have
:34:26. > :34:34.had in round one. Japan getting the job done against Canada. Germany had
:34:35. > :34:40.an unassailable lead against Spain. Down the bottom there, Switzerland,
:34:41. > :34:47.3-2 against Serbia. That was over after the doubles as well. And
:34:48. > :34:51.Italy's 3-1 victory over Argentina means that Italy will host the
:34:52. > :35:02.winners of this match in the last eight.
:35:03. > :35:16.It is nice to be even thinking about that stage. Britain's fantastic so
:35:17. > :35:26.not much is against the likes of Tunisia and Turkey and Hungary. Now
:35:27. > :35:32.we are against the big time again. This crowd in San Diego have a role
:35:33. > :35:38.to play now to make Querrey truly believe that he could get something
:35:39. > :35:45.from this. I don't know what you thought, Ross, but to me, Andy
:35:46. > :35:50.looked a little bit flat almost towards the end of that second.
:35:51. > :35:57.There were a couple of service games on the Querrey serve where Murray
:35:58. > :36:02.would normally make you play every ball, and he was making
:36:03. > :36:12.uncharacteristic errors. You can have dips over five sets. That is
:36:13. > :36:18.when the top players bear down and use that presents they have to put
:36:19. > :36:24.their opponent off, and it didn't seem to go that way. It was a
:36:25. > :36:27.strange end to the set. Absolutely. There is an aura among Murray and
:36:28. > :36:33.these top players, and I think Murray would know that. He doesn't
:36:34. > :36:37.expect Querrey to back down, but errors usually come from opponents.
:36:38. > :36:42.That we have to give a lot of credit to this man. He didn't back down, he
:36:43. > :36:49.didn't make errors, and he kept coming forward. Did Murray get
:36:50. > :37:02.lulled into expecting Querrey to miss? He has set the tone. Rallying
:37:03. > :37:06.with a lot of long rallies, Querrey, if he is fit and healthy, he is
:37:07. > :37:13.putting balls away in a different way to Friday.
:37:14. > :37:25.He is a new man, that's for sure, beaten by James Ward in five. And
:37:26. > :39:00.now 1-1 with the Wimbledon to. -- champion.
:39:01. > :39:11.Well, he has made Querrey move on to that backhand side twice there. Two
:39:12. > :39:40.errors coming off the backhand wing. That is the third time in this match
:39:41. > :39:45.that Querrey has taken a little slip, and it really set him back. He
:39:46. > :39:47.probably only lost a fraction of a second, but that's more than enough
:39:48. > :40:32.to lose your way in the point. He would have liked to be back
:40:33. > :40:33.another stride there. I think he was a little conscious of hitting the
:40:34. > :40:49.line judge. Murray apologises, but he has got
:40:50. > :41:33.another break point chance. That is a different Murray. Hugely
:41:34. > :41:38.frustrated with himself for losing that second set, and look how he
:41:39. > :41:40.reacts, bossing his opponent around the court, and immediately getting
:41:41. > :41:59.the break. Look at the net points won from Sam
:42:00. > :42:00.Querrey. He has never coming that much, probably in the whole
:42:01. > :43:19.tournament. And it is a success. That was about an inch off the
:43:20. > :43:52.floor. A great return, too. He serves the majority of server 60
:43:53. > :44:05.or 70% speed, he has a good rhythm of holding serve will .
:44:06. > :44:17.Called good by the line judge, but fault by the umpire, overruling. But
:44:18. > :45:00.he says, it is on the line, but beyond the service line.
:45:01. > :45:36.A brilliant lob from Andy Murray. He wasn't able to backtrack in time.
:45:37. > :45:43.A new phase of the match now, because Murray knows if he can pull
:45:44. > :45:47.clear in this third set, not only will it dampen the spirits of Sam
:45:48. > :46:04.Querrey, it will silence this home crowd.
:46:05. > :46:32.That explains why he strained to get to that defensive backhand.
:46:33. > :46:45.Oh, Andy Murray that's genius! That is just soul destroying. You hit a
:46:46. > :46:49.shot like this. He took this one early. You can't hit it any wet
:46:50. > :46:54.better. Look how far out of the kour court you are was. To direct that
:46:55. > :47:01.from that much pace, from that far back. Unbelievable! It's gone in.
:47:02. > :47:09.Two breaks for Murray in this third set. This is the gear we've talked
:47:10. > :47:17.about. Classy, professional. So impressive from Murray. Waiting for
:47:18. > :47:24.errors and building momentum. Quite brilliant. He's played a few of
:47:25. > :47:31.those brilliant running back hands up the line in his career, hasn't
:47:32. > :47:38.he? Remember one at Wimbledon, key match against Gasquet. Gasquet. The
:47:39. > :47:47.light was dimming, early evening. He ended up on the crowd. Standing on
:47:48. > :47:51.those boards, yep. Get in touch, tweet us at BBC Sport. You can go to
:47:52. > :47:58.sport online as well. We have every base covered tonight. If you're on
:47:59. > :48:08.the move, this match is now live on Radio 5 Live as well. Steve asks,
:48:09. > :48:15."why is Jim Querrey wearing a suit?" We have been trying to work that out
:48:16. > :48:21.all weekend. "It looks like he's come straight from work." True, I
:48:22. > :48:27.suppose he is at work. Others, "watching Andy Murray playing tennis
:48:28. > :48:29.causes me so much stress." Not as stressful as it once was. I know
:48:30. > :49:05.what you mean, in matches like this. Targeted the weakness. Gone into
:49:06. > :49:23.basic tennis mode. Doing it at such a high level.
:49:24. > :49:33.Sometimes he looks so good on clay. His weakest service. Do you think
:49:34. > :49:38.deep down he believes he can win the French Open? I know with Rafael
:49:39. > :49:43.Nadal. It's not whether we believe it, it's whether he believes it.
:49:44. > :49:49.It's a tough question to know what's in his mind. While Rafael Nadal is
:49:50. > :49:53.on tour, I don't think anyone believes that a healthy Rafael
:49:54. > :49:56.Nadal. You can get past a Rafael Nadal over five sets. Something has
:49:57. > :50:01.to happen in the match for you to beat him. You have to hit every ball
:50:02. > :50:03.as hard as you can. Rafael Nadal has to be off or injured, like he was in
:50:04. > :50:14.the final of Australia. Yeah. Conversation with the umpire. It was
:50:15. > :51:02.definitely in. First serve again. Didn't hit it as clean as he wished.
:51:03. > :51:26.He meant it! Benefit of the doubt. This is just so professional, the
:51:27. > :51:32.way he just got his mind back, after losing that second set. Wasn't a
:51:33. > :51:38.great end to the second set. Three or four games. Immediately, got his
:51:39. > :51:40.mind back on it and just, right away, puts it right back at him with
:51:41. > :51:54.a double break. When he's in a mind set like this,
:51:55. > :51:58.you don't know where to win points. He is kicking you so far behind the
:51:59. > :52:03.baseline. When he has the opportunity he is attacking you. His
:52:04. > :52:30.defence is pinpoint. Ever the perfectionist though. 4-0
:52:31. > :53:01.up in the set. Still not happy. Stopped being a physical battle
:53:02. > :53:11.though. He takes an awkward slip in the corner.
:53:12. > :53:19.So much talk of this court being slippy in the build-up to the tie,
:53:20. > :53:25.as a lot of temporary clay courts are. It seems to have bedded in
:53:26. > :53:26.pretty well. Certainly the British play verse kept their footing
:53:27. > :53:40.throughout. -- play have kept their footing
:53:41. > :53:47.throughout. The balance has been true. Often, especially on a Sunday,
:53:48. > :53:50.around the baseline you get awful bounces, but it's been held up as
:53:51. > :54:04.well so far. The third set. You have tales from
:54:05. > :54:10.around the world from your travels. Dodgy clay courts in outposts? The
:54:11. > :54:17.worst I can think of right now is Sri Lanka.
:54:18. > :54:29.Awful red colour. Thick mud. Didn't leave any marks. Treacherous to move
:54:30. > :54:38.on. That was at the low level when I was 16, 17. Presumably whiffy as as
:54:39. > :54:45.well. Was billed as a clay court? No groundsmen needed. No sweeping, no
:54:46. > :54:56.water. Just embedded, thick. Lovely! Apart from that, you play Belgrade,
:54:57. > :55:01.Eastern Europe they are not as true a bounce or at Roland Garros. They
:55:02. > :55:11.don't have the care or history of how to maintain a good clay court.
:55:12. > :55:16.The biggest clay court is in Madrid. They experimented by changing the
:55:17. > :55:20.colour of the clay to blue. Players hitted it. That is a slippery court.
:55:21. > :55:47.I thought the colour looked great. Three points to recover from that
:55:48. > :55:51.one. Corner to corner. Running him around ragged there. James Ward is
:55:52. > :55:56.not in the line there. After that second set, I think he thought,
:55:57. > :56:05.well, might have to play a live match. May have to zip back and get
:56:06. > :56:11.some rest. Haven't seen Donald Young in the bench the whole match. I
:56:12. > :56:26.haven't seen him. No. That's a good point.
:56:27. > :56:32.It's good to watch a set of tennis, before you go out and play a match.
:56:33. > :56:37.If Young was to play. Just to understand the feel, the
:56:38. > :56:39.temperature, the crowd. You come out and sometimes you are a little
:56:40. > :57:05.startled. Scheduled to play CAP ward in the
:57:06. > :57:18.fifth match in this tie. -- Ward in the fifth match in this tie.
:57:19. > :57:28.He does get the job done here. Because Querrey won a set, the Davis
:57:29. > :57:32.Cup rule change that came in in 2011 mean the captains can agree not to
:57:33. > :57:34.play the fifth match. If the tie is over and the first match has gone to
:57:35. > :57:44.either four or five. On super Bowl Sunday, you have to
:57:45. > :57:50.wonder whether that is the likely scenario at the moment. We won't
:57:51. > :58:16.know until this match is complete though. 5-1, Murray.
:58:17. > :58:29.Talking of James Ward, John, I think it's good for Karl Edmonds
:58:30. > :58:30.development he has to work hard to get that number two spot in the
:58:31. > :58:49.team. He will be itching to play. To be a part of the team here, then
:58:50. > :58:53.to watch Ward really pull off a victory that no-one expected.
:58:54. > :59:04.Against an opponent to was way above him in the rankings. That is good
:59:05. > :59:51.for thoim see what you can achieve. -- him to see what you can achieve.
:59:52. > :00:03.Losing his footing a little bit. Failed to recover. Lovely lob from
:00:04. > :01:06.Murray though. 30-40. It's set point.
:01:07. > :01:20.His captain will be proud of him today. He showed a lot of fight. And
:01:21. > :01:29.again , Murray with the backhand down the line. Look at that shop, it
:01:30. > :01:46.is just gorgeous. I wish he would use it more often.
:01:47. > :01:58.That is a 5-1 shot. I don't think he would be heating it at 3-3. A drop
:01:59. > :02:04.shot winner for serve like that, that is a shot that is just not
:02:05. > :03:41.allowed to be played. It is the way Murray takes the
:03:42. > :03:45.racket back, you can't tell which way he is going to go. He holds and
:03:46. > :04:01.holds. Britain are one set away from
:04:02. > :04:07.winning in America for the first time since the 1930s. What an
:04:08. > :04:15.achievement this would be for Leon Smith's team. That was the perfect
:04:16. > :04:21.response after the disappointment of losing the second set tie-break. He
:04:22. > :04:26.did very well, Murray. Upped his level and his concentration to show
:04:27. > :04:32.us all why he is so tough to beat over five sets, and Querrey had to
:04:33. > :04:36.play to the level he played out in that tie-break in order to have a
:04:37. > :04:45.chance, and he won't be able to maintain those high standards.
:04:46. > :04:54.Murray has to be the strong favourite to go on and win this in
:04:55. > :05:01.four. Murray is a brilliant professional, used his anger to get
:05:02. > :05:05.back Sam. It is something we touched on earlier, he is a different man
:05:06. > :05:10.now. Early in his career, not playing well towards the end of that
:05:11. > :05:14.second set, losing a tie-break, he could have gone into a slump, but
:05:15. > :05:17.you don't see that in the modern-day Murray.
:05:18. > :05:27.His body language now is so much better than it used to be. Apart
:05:28. > :05:33.from getting frustrated with himself, he was loving every minute
:05:34. > :05:40.of it. But he has almost cut that out. By and large, since Ivan Lendl
:05:41. > :05:46.has come into the picture, he has been better. What do you think about
:05:47. > :05:51.coaches coming into the Davis Cup? The American coaches are on site,
:05:52. > :05:58.but the British personal coaches are asked to keep away. If Lendl was
:05:59. > :06:05.there, he would be cheering for the USA!
:06:06. > :06:10.I think it comes down to the top layers, if they have a thing about
:06:11. > :06:15.their coach being there. In my day, we didn't do that. But if a personal
:06:16. > :06:24.coach was that much attached and we wanted it, it was tough to say no.
:06:25. > :06:28.Pete asks whether Murray really needs the team cap and to be in his
:06:29. > :06:33.ear at every changeover. It is not always gain to be tactics and
:06:34. > :06:43.coaching, is it, John? Give us an insight. Do you talk about different
:06:44. > :06:46.stuff to keep the game relaxed? Occasionally. It depends on the
:06:47. > :06:52.personality of the player. Someone like Greg Rusedski, he just wanted
:06:53. > :06:57.to tell you how well he was playing, so I just agreed with that. He liked
:06:58. > :07:02.to be reinforced that everything was going great. Tim Henman didn't
:07:03. > :07:08.really want to much to be said, he liked to do his own thing. He
:07:09. > :07:12.occasionally wanted you to reinforce a couple of things, but otherwise he
:07:13. > :07:18.wanted to do it on his own, which was fine. What about when Greg
:07:19. > :07:27.wasn't playing well? He still thought he was!
:07:28. > :07:41.Excellent start to the set for Sam Querrey, asset he needs to win -- a
:07:42. > :09:02.set he needs to win to keep this tie a life.
:09:03. > :09:06.If that wasn't going out, I think Murray was going to be sitting on
:09:07. > :09:58.the backhand. It was. Fatties break point saved -- that is
:09:59. > :10:17.break point saved. That is Colin Fleming there in the shades.
:10:18. > :10:23.That serve skidded through and stayed low. A little extra juice on
:10:24. > :11:09.that forehand. He has got the balance there, when
:11:10. > :11:22.to play aggressively and when to play persistently.
:11:23. > :11:33.Excellent recovery from Murray in the game, from 15-40 down, one of
:11:34. > :11:36.those chances you feel, suddenly evaporating. He is not going to have
:11:37. > :11:48.to many more. Going back to talking about the
:11:49. > :11:53.captain, the link and the history that Leon Smith and Andy Murray
:11:54. > :12:01.have. He coached him between 12 and 15. Always had a word in his ear
:12:02. > :12:04.throughout the years of advice. You don't have to say too much on the
:12:05. > :12:19.chair, the less the better. Certainly not with the real top, top
:12:20. > :12:20.players. They know what it is about, they have been there and done it
:12:21. > :13:15.hundreds of times. He does have a huge forehand. That
:13:16. > :13:21.was a good forehand that Murray hits to him there, nice indeed. And then
:13:22. > :13:35.all of a sudden, he just crushes it crosscourt.
:13:36. > :13:43.In the modern game now, you have to be so accurate, and you can be
:13:44. > :14:15.punished from so many plays, so many big shop from the baseline.
:14:16. > :14:24.That is also modern technology. The racket slightly stiffer, more
:14:25. > :14:28.control. Different ones are suited to each player. The power of these
:14:29. > :14:58.players, it is quite scary. We will go through some more of your
:14:59. > :15:12.questions in a minute. Keep them coming in. #bbctennis four. He is
:15:13. > :15:21.still serving around 60% in terms of speed on the second serve.
:15:22. > :15:27.I love the way he keeps that shoulder up. Hitting up on the
:15:28. > :15:43.serve, not pulling down. Keeps it up.
:15:44. > :15:51.I think the serve has improved. More aggressive as well, in his game
:15:52. > :15:59.plan, than he used to be. More pro-active on the court.
:16:00. > :16:06.Roger Federer has always said there are things to improve on. You look
:16:07. > :16:10.at his game and you think, how can he possible improve. It he thinks he
:16:11. > :16:22.can. There are always different things he thinks he can work on.
:16:23. > :16:35.That takes him 2-1 up, in the fourth set, Murray. John makes the point,
:16:36. > :16:44."I wish I had ?5 for every game Andy has won from 15-40 down." That is
:16:45. > :16:51.true. Paul says "Murray looks in control. Back looks OK" he had
:16:52. > :16:57.surgery last year, missed a lot of the clay season last year because of
:16:58. > :17:01.problems, changes surfaces. There must be relief around from his team
:17:02. > :17:06.that he is in good nick here? Yes. They do a great job. In the prehigh
:17:07. > :17:10.pressure-season he had a lot of treatment making sure the drills
:17:11. > :17:15.were set to strengthen the back. A lot of the drill work to strengthen
:17:16. > :17:19.the back. He struggled on the clay, sliding into his backhand and
:17:20. > :17:24.rotating at the same time. It caused him pain. He has been carrying it
:17:25. > :17:29.for years. I don't know what procedure happened. It has relieved
:17:30. > :17:34.a lot of pain. He is feeling good. Done the trick. A lot of debate as
:17:35. > :17:38.well over the years about Andy Murray's appearances for Britain in
:17:39. > :17:40.this competition, the Davis Cup. He's by no means been an ever
:17:41. > :17:56.present. When Britain were relegated down the
:17:57. > :18:01.divisions, he wanted to make the point that, when I see other players
:18:02. > :18:05.in Great Britain coming through, winning live singles matches, then
:18:06. > :18:09.I'll know we've got a competitive team.
:18:10. > :18:17.Obviously, you have a team-mate and a former captain in the box here.
:18:18. > :18:22.Just be interested in your thoughts. John, you were always of the opinion
:18:23. > :18:25.if Murray should be there to represent his country, but do you
:18:26. > :18:31.think, in a way, he's been proved right? Well, I personally, it's old
:18:32. > :18:37.school, I personally believe, why would you not want to play, whether
:18:38. > :18:40.your team is in division eight, it's irrelevant. If you are asked to play
:18:41. > :18:44.for your country. You play for your country. That's old school. That's
:18:45. > :19:08.what I believe. Everybody has different opinions on that.
:19:09. > :19:16.Having said that. This round of Davis Cup, it's encouraging that
:19:17. > :19:20.most of the top players, Roger Federer playing at the last-minute,
:19:21. > :19:24.which was great. Unfortunately, no Rafael Nadal, no Novak Djokovic.
:19:25. > :19:28.Rafael Nadal decided not to play before he got injured. Novak
:19:29. > :19:34.Djokovic saying he was exhausted. That's the one I can't believe. He's
:19:35. > :19:36.only just start the season. It's not good in the Davis Cup when the top
:19:37. > :19:49.two players don't play. It's tough on the players' demands,
:19:50. > :19:53.I have o to say, with the Davis Cup format the way it is. I think it
:19:54. > :20:20.should be changed. I've said this for years.
:20:21. > :20:36.Look Secretary of State in control at this moment, doesn't he? That is
:20:37. > :20:41.all the training paying off. That sort of move is what it's all about.
:20:42. > :20:51.Thousands and thousands of sprints you do. Interval training, all that
:20:52. > :20:54.kind of stuff, just to spring into getting the winner. That's it!
:20:55. > :21:13.That's magnificent. Six foot six, Querrey. Exactly. He
:21:14. > :21:27.needed two or three step ladders for that one.
:21:28. > :21:39.It's a brilliant game. Murray's the world class player turning on the
:21:40. > :21:48.style. As Britain head, seemingly, towards the last eight of the Davis
:21:49. > :21:52.Cup. Work to be done yet. Magic wand in his hand here sometimes. Just the
:21:53. > :21:58.touch he has on that backhand there. Just the feel. It's mind-boggling
:21:59. > :22:02.just how good he is. Ross, revisiting that topic of Murray in
:22:03. > :22:05.Davis Cup. While we take on board John's opinion, he set that
:22:06. > :22:11.challenge, didn't he, to the other players? You have got to say, Dan
:22:12. > :22:17.Evans and James Ward have responded. They both won live matches? They
:22:18. > :22:20.have. It's not a good feeling to be in a team moving down the leagues.
:22:21. > :22:25.We had to make a reaction. The boys did it really well. Under Leon Smith
:22:26. > :22:29.they responded. I think there are so many variables. I agree with John,
:22:30. > :22:34.to an extent, if you're asked to play, yes, initially I would say,
:22:35. > :22:39.you should play. There are different variables to different players in
:22:40. > :22:43.differents countries. Andy wanted a reaction from the players. He hadn't
:22:44. > :22:47.been that fit. He didn't achieve what Nadal and Federer achieved. He
:22:48. > :22:51.wanted the slam from eight years old. He has two. When he feels good
:22:52. > :22:54.and healthy and a good number two play, he will play. That is why he
:22:55. > :22:56.has been here and has been here the last couple of days. He will be
:22:57. > :23:06.there in the future. If he can get the job done here, it
:23:07. > :23:11.will guarantee world group tennis, of course, for a couple of years.
:23:12. > :23:16.They won't have to worry about a relegation play-off. Which America
:23:17. > :23:54.will, if they lose this. And Spain. And Serbia. Good point, John.
:23:55. > :24:28.Great opportunity, the Brit. Clear on the Querrey serve.
:24:29. > :24:35.That forehand that Querrey runs round the back and down-the-line.
:24:36. > :24:42.Leaves him wide open to run across court. He has been lapping that one
:24:43. > :24:46.up all match. Murray he knows from that position he can't get back in
:24:47. > :24:51.the court. He has to go for a clean winner back the line. Murray would
:24:52. > :24:53.have hosted that back across court and is so quick would have been back
:24:54. > :25:21.in the rally. Such a good athlete. Oh, improadvisation. He adapts to
:25:22. > :25:27.the bounce, to the pace. Up until the last second he was going to play
:25:28. > :25:32.this high and deep. All of a sudden, oops. Great shot. That Querrey,
:25:33. > :25:34.there is no way he could have anticipated that because I don't
:25:35. > :25:37.think anybody else in the world would have done that. That I can
:25:38. > :25:57.think of! No. It's wide! There's the break!
:25:58. > :26:01.Britain are almost home. Unbelievable defence from Murray.
:26:02. > :26:06.How he comes out and wins those points, I never know. I've seen it
:26:07. > :26:12.so many times, haven't we all? Full stretch.
:26:13. > :26:22.Telling Querrey, you have to stand on the baseline from now. Don't go
:26:23. > :27:08.out in this match. Play deep in the court.
:27:09. > :27:12.History made in British tennis over the last 12 months or so. More
:27:13. > :27:46.unfolding here. Murray saying, no need for you to
:27:47. > :27:53.come down, Mr Umpire, I've got that one covered. He gives it to Querrey.
:27:54. > :27:55.Speedily down from his chair, unnecessary. Murray was always going
:27:56. > :28:14.to give that. Nice to have one of those, a match,
:28:15. > :28:18.I always think, when you're away from home to make the spectators to
:28:19. > :28:34.feel that you're a good guy after all.
:28:35. > :28:43.We were talking about it yesterday, in the past I've been away from home
:28:44. > :28:48.ties often spectators push it to the limit of what they're allowed to do
:28:49. > :28:57.and what they do. Nowadays, it's a bit more Melo. -- mellow.
:28:58. > :29:23.In Italy they were throwing coins at us. Charming! We kept them!
:29:24. > :29:29.Oh, battle of the backhands there is really going to be only one winner.
:29:30. > :29:35.Querrey needed to fire a forehand. When he had the opportunity, he
:29:36. > :29:38.skied it almost into the back boards. Ran out of gas here,
:29:39. > :30:14.finally. Had enough of that rally. Leon Smith knows that the moment of
:30:15. > :30:31.victory may not be too far away now. They can feel this coming. They are
:30:32. > :30:38.all getting ready. Still a way to go. They know it's so close right
:30:39. > :30:41.now. It's just phenomenonal performance from Murray. After
:30:42. > :30:47.losing that second to reset so quickly and then right away get back
:30:48. > :30:53.on top of an opponent who was, quite frankly, was playing out of his mind
:30:54. > :30:59.on clay. There was no sign of panic. Just got back to business and look
:31:00. > :31:04.where we are now. Querrey's level hasn't dropped too much. No. He is
:31:05. > :31:10.still playing good tennis. Murray's level went up two or three gears.
:31:11. > :31:15.Reminder of what we are dealing with here. Britain hasn't beaten the
:31:16. > :31:21.United States in the Davis Cup since 1935. Not on clay since 1933.
:31:22. > :31:51.Only three more of those now required.
:31:52. > :32:46.He must have had a few nightmares about this tie. Murray wants to get
:32:47. > :32:52.this done here, you can see it. Talk about those gears that you feel that
:32:53. > :32:55.he can always shift up. He is doing it right here. It makes you
:32:56. > :33:07.appreciate what a player he is. James Ward will be one of the
:33:08. > :34:00.heroes. It was James Ward's victory on the
:34:01. > :34:18.opening day that shifted the whole complexion of this tie.
:34:19. > :34:22.With Britain at 2-0 up, it would have taken a huge recovery from the
:34:23. > :35:24.American team. The speed of Murray up to the net to
:35:25. > :35:30.steer the backhand winner takes Britain into a modern-day unknown
:35:31. > :35:59.territory. Match point to seal the Davis Cup world group win.
:36:00. > :36:07.Well done, Sam Querrey. He has played his part. The way he bounced
:36:08. > :36:16.back from that opening-day disappointment.
:36:17. > :36:35.In the past 18 months, Andy Murray has served for the Olympic gold
:36:36. > :36:40.medal, and he has served for the Wimbledon title. Now he is serving
:36:41. > :36:44.to take Britain into the quarterfinals of the Davis Cup will
:36:45. > :37:12.. That is a great start from Murray.
:37:13. > :38:21.Once again, starting this game off and .
:38:22. > :38:31.On the line. Henrik Molina is absolutely certain there. Querrey is
:38:32. > :39:08.saying that's not a mark. That one is out. It sounded like
:39:09. > :39:16.Murray broke a string there. He did. Nice time for that happen.
:39:17. > :39:20.It is never easy to serve a match out, even if you have got the
:39:21. > :40:06.experience of Murray. Well, even the best get nervous. And
:40:07. > :40:21.a double fault keeps America interested.
:40:22. > :40:23.Suddenly recalling the torture of that final game in the Wimbledon
:40:24. > :40:55.final. What a rally! That may be the best
:40:56. > :40:56.defensive play that Sam Querrey has played in the whole match, to keep
:40:57. > :41:02.himself in that point. First break point saved. Another one
:41:03. > :41:44.to come. There is another 15-40 that he is
:41:45. > :42:11.taken to deuce. His favourite plays, going across court.
:42:12. > :42:19.This is so good from Murray. He had that shot in mind since four shots
:42:20. > :42:59.before the winner. Yes, he has done it! History boy
:43:00. > :43:02.rewrite small records. Great Britain are into the quarterfinals of the
:43:03. > :43:09.Davis Cup for the first time in 28 years. And the United States beaten
:43:10. > :43:39.in their San Diego backyard. Great scenes. The whole team has
:43:40. > :43:43.played its part. Murray leading the way with two really professional
:43:44. > :43:50.victories. James Ward fantastic on the opening day. The unexpected
:43:51. > :43:57.results. Colin Fleming and Dominic Inglot who played the doubles tested
:43:58. > :44:00.the Bryan brothers, but couldn't get the win. That is what it means to
:44:01. > :44:17.Murray. So, it will be Italy away in the
:44:18. > :44:24.quarterfinals at the start of the clay-court season in April. Possibly
:44:25. > :44:28.Switzerland in the semifinals if Britain can get through that, but we
:44:29. > :44:34.will enjoy this while we can, one round at a time. It means no chance
:44:35. > :44:39.either of having a relegation play-off at the end of this year.
:44:40. > :44:48.World group tennis guaranteed for 2015 for Leon Smith's side. And
:44:49. > :44:52.unassailable 3-1 lead for Great Britain over the United States.
:44:53. > :44:55.SUE BARKER: Through to the quarterfinals, and that will take
:44:56. > :45:19.place in Italy, April 4-6. At the bottom there, Switzerland
:45:20. > :45:25.with Stanislas Wawrinka and Roger Federer will face Kazakhstan in the
:45:26. > :45:31.quarterfinals. We are now being told that there will be no final rubber,
:45:32. > :45:36.so no more match to come from San Diego. But I think they will want to
:45:37. > :45:41.celebrate anyway. Because that is what it is all about. To go over
:45:42. > :45:47.there, they weren't really the favourites going into this match. It
:45:48. > :45:53.is incredible, and amazing team achievement. To win in San Diego
:45:54. > :45:57.away against America for the first time in so many years, a superb
:45:58. > :46:03.formance from Andy Murray and James Ward, so thrilled. What a match
:46:04. > :46:08.today, great atmosphere. And great tennis. Was aggressive and took
:46:09. > :46:11.Murray on. He tried everything he could. He was brilliant today.
:46:12. > :46:15.Murray had to play well to get through that match. He was a tough
:46:16. > :46:21.opponent. Wonderful tennis. I bet Querrey is thinking, why didn't I
:46:22. > :46:27.play like that in the first match. He was fantastic. Is about nerves.
:46:28. > :46:34.The pressure was on him on Friday. He wanted to show his team-mates he
:46:35. > :46:39.will produce a upset. The start of the third Murray flipped into a
:46:40. > :46:45.different gear. He played incredibly well. Despatched him 6-1, 6-3,
:46:46. > :46:50.Britain, next level, into the quarters. Will show a few points
:46:51. > :46:54.while we wait for interviews. This is one of the points of the match.
:46:55. > :47:01.It happened in the second set. This was at deuce at 3-3. Sit back and
:47:02. > :47:21.admire this. Terrific tennis. From both players.
:47:22. > :47:28.What more can you do? If you are Sam Querrey, what more could he have
:47:29. > :47:32.done in that point? No, throughout a lot of the match as well. That
:47:33. > :47:37.point, was outrageous. Andy playing so well. Also, just the movement as
:47:38. > :47:40.well. We were told this court was a bit slippy. It wasn't very good.
:47:41. > :47:45.Boy, it was moving well today? He was. You know, he defends, Ross and
:47:46. > :47:50.I were talking about, we talk about how aggressive players are. The
:47:51. > :47:56.defensive capabilities. Every point he is made of rubber. He gets it
:47:57. > :48:00.back. Sam is belting balls away, they keep coming back. You can't do
:48:01. > :48:04.it for three or four hours to beat Murray over five sets. That is the
:48:05. > :48:10.problem. Is a big occasion player, isn't he? Let us hear from him now.
:48:11. > :48:14.So many congratulations. Into the quarter-finals of the World Group
:48:15. > :48:18.for the first time in 28 years. Quite a battle in the first two sets
:48:19. > :48:23.against, Sam? Yeah, it was. Again at the end there. You know, he came out
:48:24. > :48:27.playing extremely aggressive. He was being very aggressive on my serve.
:48:28. > :48:32.Changed the tactics, beginning of the third set. I dictated a lot of
:48:33. > :48:36.points after that. I made my service games challenging for him. I
:48:37. > :48:42.dictated a lot of points. He slowed down his serve and made it easier
:48:43. > :48:46.for me to break. A change of tactics helped. Have seen you win so many
:48:47. > :48:51.tie-breaks over your career when you are playing for yourself effect nifl
:48:52. > :48:58.grand slams. It's more stressful in a Davis Cup surroundings? Um... Yeah
:48:59. > :49:02.it's different. It's different. You know, we... You know have a
:49:03. > :49:08.responsibility to your team-mates to play well. But, at the same time, a
:49:09. > :49:12.I have a lot of experience I have played Davis Cup matches and
:49:13. > :49:16.tie-breaks over my career, slams and tough. You know how to deal with it
:49:17. > :49:20.relatively well. Against a big server like Sam, when he serves
:49:21. > :49:24.well, he puts pressure on your serve. He took advantage of second
:49:25. > :49:27.serves in that second set tie-break. We will bring in your team-mates in
:49:28. > :49:31.a moment. What is it like to have the guys in red so close to the
:49:32. > :49:35.court making as much noise as they can between points? That is what is
:49:36. > :49:39.great about Davis Cup. We have a really good team spirit. I have
:49:40. > :49:43.known a lot of the guys for a long, long time. I have known Leon since I
:49:44. > :49:48.was a young child. I used to practice when Colin when I was 10
:49:49. > :49:53.years old. I've known him since, you know, Kyle, I trained with him in
:49:54. > :49:58.December. His coach, who is here as well. Yeah, it's just... It's just
:49:59. > :50:02.nice to play with those guys because, you know, it's very
:50:03. > :50:06.independent when you're on the Tour on your own. Here it's not like that
:50:07. > :50:09.at all. There is pressure because you have a responsibility to your
:50:10. > :50:13.team-mates, at the same time, this he have done such a good job helping
:50:14. > :50:18.to put me in positions to close out matches and also winning some big
:50:19. > :50:22.ties themselves. James has come out with huge wins over the last few
:50:23. > :50:28.years. Italy away in the first week of April. Might need to dust down
:50:29. > :50:32.those clay court shoes? It's good for me to play on the clay. You
:50:33. > :50:37.know, often you know going into the clay court season I haven't played
:50:38. > :50:42.any play court tennis for 11 months. So, to play another match on clay, I
:50:43. > :50:45.assume they will play it on clay, you never know, it will be a tough,
:50:46. > :50:50.tough match. Fabulous performance. Thank you very much indeed, Andy.
:50:51. > :50:54.ThankThank you. Smith, the Great Britain Davis Cup captain. Move you
:50:55. > :50:57.into shot. Congratulations again. I know you will say it's down to the
:50:58. > :51:03.players, but you have played your part too. It's been another amazing
:51:04. > :51:08.weekend? Yeah. I mean, Andy was superb there. Sam came out swinging,
:51:09. > :51:12.as we thought he would do. Playing risk-free tennis. He did great for
:51:13. > :51:16.two sets obviously. Once Andy started to get the ball moving
:51:17. > :51:19.around a little bit more, he served and his percentage went way up in
:51:20. > :51:23.the last two sets. That tired out Sam. A massesive team effort. We
:51:24. > :51:28.don't see the work that gets done after the tennis is gone. Shane our
:51:29. > :51:32.physio who is one of a lot of physios who has six, banging out
:51:33. > :51:36.12-hour days on all the players. His hands must be gone. All the coaches.
:51:37. > :51:39.I mean all of them leave here without any voices. Can you hear
:51:40. > :51:42.them shouting their heads off. We should be proud of the team spirit
:51:43. > :51:46.and what the guys have created here. We can see how close we are. You
:51:47. > :51:55.have come along way as well, haven't you? When you took over... . YEAH
:51:56. > :51:58.Not the easest thing broadcasting live with these auto three guys
:51:59. > :52:04.around you. They are part of the team. A team that has come a long
:52:05. > :52:08.way. It was a Group 2 relegation tie your first one in charge four years
:52:09. > :52:11.ago? Slightly different environment to what we are playing in today. I
:52:12. > :52:16.was saying to the guys during the week, when we were showing a journey
:52:17. > :52:19.video of all the ties we have done. There were 11 different players who
:52:20. > :52:22.have played in the team over the years. It has been a team effort.
:52:23. > :52:27.The same support staff, coaching staff that have been there since the
:52:28. > :52:31.start, since I took over. It's great to have this team spirit running
:52:32. > :52:34.through everybody. No, these guys deserve a lot of credit. They pulled
:52:35. > :52:38.everyone through today as well. James, you don't need to play today.
:52:39. > :52:42.You deserve the afternoon off after that amazing win on Friday. The that
:52:43. > :52:48.turned the match, didn't it really? Yeah. Obviously, Andy has won both
:52:49. > :52:52.matches, he had to produce a big performance today. Glad I could do
:52:53. > :53:00.my bit on Friday. Was it like watching today knowing you may have
:53:01. > :53:05.to play a decountriesive fifth rubber After the seconded set I went
:53:06. > :53:14.in to get ready. Once it was 6-1 in the third full confidence in Andy to
:53:15. > :53:19.get the job done. You left at just the right moment. God food. In the
:53:20. > :53:23.same of three games Andy broke twice - He doesn't want me anywhere near
:53:24. > :53:28.his court. That is why I was first on the court afterwards. It was down
:53:29. > :53:33.to me leaving. Great job by him. It's fantastic today he could do so
:53:34. > :53:38.well. Everyone else, Ward, great job on Friday. Leon, Captain, fantastic
:53:39. > :53:44.over here. Unbelievable experience. Has the weekend been like for you?
:53:45. > :53:48.Just, I can't explain it. Being on the court is fantastic. It's like
:53:49. > :53:52.playing for Britain, for your country, you know singing the
:53:53. > :53:57.National Anthem. That was like, for me... It will stay with me for the
:53:58. > :54:02.rest of my life. Loving it. Here he is. You remember the dark days, you
:54:03. > :54:07.played in that tie in Lithuanian in early 2010 when Britain were beaten?
:54:08. > :54:11.I was there in Lithuania. It was a different feeling to what it is here
:54:12. > :54:16.today. It's been a lot of hard work to get back here. A lot of tough
:54:17. > :54:23.matches have been won. Another one today. It sums it up. It was...
:54:24. > :54:27.What's that? Stop talking so much. Come on... It's been a great
:54:28. > :54:31.journey. It's been a great journey to get here. It's time for the next
:54:32. > :54:35.generation. Kyle, close to playing here and making your Davis Cup
:54:36. > :54:38.debut. An important part of the team. How has it been for you? It's
:54:39. > :54:43.been great. All the experience counts. I have been here three times
:54:44. > :54:48.now. The first was against Russia. First time comeback from 2-0 down
:54:49. > :54:52.was unbelievable. To win a World Group match for the first time in so
:54:53. > :54:57.long, great to be part of. Well done to all of you. You have been playing
:54:58. > :55:01.the word game articulate on a regular basis every evening. Will
:55:02. > :55:09.you do something more exciting than that tonight? We are going to Vegas!
:55:10. > :55:13.YEAH! So professional. Done to all of you. We look forward to the
:55:14. > :55:17.quarter-final in a couple of months' time. Enjoy the moment. Thanks. I
:55:18. > :55:23.hope they really do enjoy the moment. John, it's such great news
:55:24. > :55:27.for British tennis, isn't it? It is. With Andy doing so well, winning two
:55:28. > :55:32.slams. A Davis Cup team in the quarter-finals. As I said earlier, I
:55:33. > :55:36.do believe this, we can win this if Murray keeps playing we've got a
:55:37. > :55:44.shot. He's that good. So why not. How special would that be? Italy
:55:45. > :55:48.have great players. They are beatable? They are beatable. Andy,
:55:49. > :55:52.when he's in your team, you feel good about. It he is a fantastic
:55:53. > :55:57.player who can play three days. So fit. It's a good tie for us. We have
:55:58. > :56:01.a chance. There are tougher ties, Serbia away, Switzerland away. You
:56:02. > :56:05.know, Andy in our team, hopefully he will play. Really exciting and win
:56:06. > :56:10.the quarter-finals. We can look forward to that. James Ward has come
:56:11. > :56:16.of age? Huge win for him. He set the tone really, didn't he? When he won
:56:17. > :56:21.that match, unexpected, the team from then on wards marvellous
:56:22. > :56:26.performance by him he justified his place in the singles. Has been a
:56:27. > :56:29.wonderful time over in San Diego. We went there, not really expecting to
:56:30. > :56:33.be the favourites, but in the tend was a wonderful Friday going two up.
:56:34. > :56:38.Then today Andy Murray sealed the win. It's 28 years the last time
:56:39. > :56:42.that Great Britain were in the quarter-finals. 9 years that they
:56:43. > :56:46.last beat the United States. So much to celebrate. Well done to Leon
:56:47. > :56:48.Smith and his team. From all of us here, a very goodbye and see you in
:56:49. > :57:06.April, in Italy. Bye bye. # Give me the moment
:57:07. > :57:12.# Some type of experience # Give me a shot at the light
:57:13. > :57:22.# Give a moment # Some kind of experience
