:00:08. > :00:18.We welcome viewers on BBC Two. Dan Evans is playing Leonel -- Leonardo

:00:19. > :00:24.Mayer. It is advantage Argentina at the moment. We are leaving BBC One,

:00:25. > :00:45.so if you want to watch the tennis, it is on BBC Two.

:00:46. > :00:53.COMMENTATOR: Welcome to viewers on BBC Two and

:00:54. > :00:56.you join us at the precise moment that Argentina take a two sets to

:00:57. > :01:04.one lead in this enthralling Davis Cup final -- semifinal. The winner

:01:05. > :01:08.will go through to play Croatia who beat France in the other semifinal

:01:09. > :01:13.that took place today. These are the statistics from the first set. What

:01:14. > :01:23.we need to look at his first serves one. Mayer is in a groove. The best

:01:24. > :01:27.thing that Dan Evans could do is to get off the court, and have an

:01:28. > :01:34.extended toilet break and hope that when he comes back, Mayer might have

:01:35. > :01:40.somehow lost that grew. -- that groove.

:01:41. > :01:46.You have to give tremendous credit to Mayer because this is a deciding

:01:47. > :01:51.rubber of a Davis Cup and he is coming out here, I know his ranking

:01:52. > :01:58.is false at 114, but he is playing like a man possessed. Dan Evans,

:01:59. > :02:02.there is not a lot he can do. He has got a little predictable with his

:02:03. > :02:06.game and has panicked a bit. Is understandable when you have this

:02:07. > :02:11.barrage of first serves coming at you and big guns behind it. He is

:02:12. > :02:17.not sure what to do. There are times when you have the guts it out,

:02:18. > :02:22.change your game, introduce variety, and just know that your opponent at

:02:23. > :02:26.some stage will miss. You have to believe that. There is not much you

:02:27. > :02:30.can do. You have to say that his ranking would not be there if he was

:02:31. > :02:37.this good. At some stage, he will think where he is. You have to get

:02:38. > :02:41.on with it and get your service games won, somehow. Dan Evans has

:02:42. > :02:49.come back and I noticed during this break that one Mateen dovecot Road

:02:50. > :02:54.has been sending -- del Potro has been sending text messages. People

:02:55. > :03:01.are saying, why are due playing, and he is saying, you don't need me,

:03:02. > :03:07.because Mayer is playing so well! If you are wondering why del Potro

:03:08. > :03:19.isn't playing, so we! We are none the wiser. But Argentina one set

:03:20. > :03:27.away from a Davis Cup final. And in a chequered career so far for Dan

:03:28. > :03:31.Evans, this is the moment now, encouraged by a hugely enthusiastic

:03:32. > :03:33.and partisan crowd to show on the international stage that he can be a

:03:34. > :03:58.top international player. I mean, really? If he had that

:03:59. > :04:03.ranking, it's like a golfer coming in with a 20 handicap and shoots a

:04:04. > :04:30.72. I've played with a couple of them! He can't keep this up, surely.

:04:31. > :04:56.Come on! CHEERING.

:04:57. > :05:01.There you are. The groove has gone awry. He hasn't made many of those

:05:02. > :05:04.errors since the first set. He has just handed two freebies in a row

:05:05. > :05:12.which Dan Evans has said thank you very much.

:05:13. > :05:52.You can do this, Dan, says the voice in the crowd.

:05:53. > :06:00.That's a brilliant forehand. That is reminiscent of del Potro against

:06:01. > :06:10.Murray. Looked like he was out of that rally, Mayer. Suddenly, the

:06:11. > :06:16.alarm bells really are ringing. Dan Evans does not want to get broken so

:06:17. > :06:27.early in this fourth set. The point. Great serve.

:06:28. > :06:36.Only the third ace of the match, Dan. But what a time to serve it.

:06:37. > :06:47.More frenzied encouragement from Leon Smith.

:06:48. > :06:59.CHEERING. The crowd know the battles that Dan

:07:00. > :07:13.Evans is having and it is not just with Mayer, it is with himself.

:07:14. > :07:17.All in the top of the net, though serves. He has to keep that left

:07:18. > :07:27.shoulder up longer. Too many serves in the top of the

:07:28. > :08:00.net. You have to say well played to my

:08:01. > :08:08.affair. Every ball hit at 85%. He has these shots that change the

:08:09. > :08:12.rally with one big strike. Even on that point, you looked like he was

:08:13. > :08:16.on the defensive and hip that backhand down the line. With the

:08:17. > :08:24.point. The ground strokes, both sides. And he is looking now at a

:08:25. > :08:35.second serve. And a break point opportunity.

:08:36. > :08:47.And on such errors do matches and complete ties sometimes change.

:08:48. > :08:53.Two hours as you can see, just up behind Dan Evans and the decibel

:08:54. > :09:18.level goes up another notch. CHEERING.

:09:19. > :09:21.Mayer is thinking, how did I miss that forehand on the previous point?

:09:22. > :09:43.And why do I stick that in the net? CHANTING.

:09:44. > :09:58.If you wonder what they are chanting, it's Evo.

:09:59. > :10:05.There's so much nervous tension and energy in arena now. Genuinely, the

:10:06. > :10:22.temperature here is going up by the minute.

:10:23. > :10:31.It is only the first game of the fourth set but this could be key?

:10:32. > :10:38.The first game in a long while where Mayer is making errors, he has made

:10:39. > :10:55.four bad errors. One break can change the whole momentum.

:10:56. > :11:02.Andy Murray doing his utmost at every point to get onto his feet and

:11:03. > :11:04.encourage Dan Evans but it just looks exhausted. He is absolutely

:11:05. > :11:33.spent in every way. When he is in, it really is in! The

:11:34. > :11:44.weight of the shot with Mayer is so much bigger than Dan Evans in the

:11:45. > :11:53.last two sets. Can Dan Evans escape again? If anyone can, he can! That

:11:54. > :12:12.serve was on the line, he needed that one. That was a late challenge.

:12:13. > :12:20.He had already called the score, hadn't he? Irrespective of who

:12:21. > :12:38.challenged... We are back at deuce. It makes life easier for you if you

:12:39. > :13:23.can get if you first serves in. The ball striking has been fantastic

:13:24. > :13:28.since he lost that first set. He is seeing the ball like football. There

:13:29. > :13:34.is no hesitation. Just nailing it, every time of opening. So, the first

:13:35. > :14:01.game just goes on and on and on. How often do you see a forehand like

:14:02. > :14:11.that? 80 mph, the second serve. He was trying to spread that ball in

:14:12. > :14:13.half! -- split. And look at that. Heading towards 11 minutes for this

:14:14. > :14:57.opening game. I don't agree with that. I don't

:14:58. > :14:58.think -- think that was that long between the challenge. Some of them

:14:59. > :15:17.have been longer than that. Well, he mustn't get distracted by

:15:18. > :17:05.that. And the crowd moves from frantic to

:17:06. > :17:10.hysterical. And Dan Evans wins the longest game not just of this match

:17:11. > :17:17.but the entire semifinal so far. Some facts and figures about the

:17:18. > :17:23.service placement from Mayer, his serve is giving him the ascendancy.

:17:24. > :17:32.You can just see how much variety he has got. Second and third sets, he

:17:33. > :17:35.is moving all around the place, particularly areas down the backhand

:17:36. > :17:39.side on the right court and the forehand side of the left, that is

:17:40. > :17:46.where those big aces have been coming. What a game that was for Dan

:17:47. > :17:52.Evans, almost must win, and somehow he got through it. I don't know how

:17:53. > :17:55.but he did! And the little change now, that might affect Mayer a

:17:56. > :18:09.little, thinking he should already be up by one break.

:18:10. > :19:37.Such an impressive serve. He is almost serving back someone who is

:19:38. > :20:20.6' six" and above, sometimes at shoulder height for Dan Evans.

:20:21. > :20:26.Well played, Dan Evans. While I think the umpire has called that

:20:27. > :20:38.out. The linesman has called that out. Dan Evans thinks he has got it

:20:39. > :20:40.wrong. They call that the hot dog, that would have been one of the

:20:41. > :20:55.greats. Unfortunately, it is 40-0. What happened to the challenge? I am

:20:56. > :21:08.not quite sure. It says 40-0 on the scoreboard at

:21:09. > :21:24.the moment. Still waiting for the challenge.

:21:25. > :21:37.The crowd chanting for Hawk-Eye. Hawk-Eye is not obliging!

:21:38. > :21:49.Here it is... The original call stance. They are saying that they

:21:50. > :22:02.call was correct. That means that it is game, Argentina.

:22:03. > :22:16.UMPIRE: Hawk-Eye is not working. The original call stands. Hawk-Eye is

:22:17. > :22:23.getting booed. It was tight, but it was 40-0. We move on. Another big

:22:24. > :22:27.service game for Dan Evans. Every game is a service game for Dan

:22:28. > :22:31.Evans. He has to keep holding serve and hope that the level of Leonardo

:22:32. > :23:42.Mayer drops a little to give him some opportunity.

:23:43. > :24:00.That is a good point. Now and again. The first serve at just 98 mph but

:24:01. > :24:24.to be in a position to do that, and then that...

:24:25. > :24:31.In the first set he was so compact with all of those shots, he was not

:24:32. > :24:37.making any errors, and that have a lot of time on it, all the pressure

:24:38. > :24:41.being forced on him is just rushing that one. That is assured he should

:24:42. > :24:53.normally -- he should normally never miss. That was a good serve.

:24:54. > :25:02.In tennis, is the first thing that goes not the footwork? You have to

:25:03. > :25:08.exaggerate that. Move your feet. That is what you have to do.

:25:09. > :25:21.Good hold. And by virtue of serving first, in the fourth set, Mayer was

:25:22. > :25:25.always going to be playing catch-up and as long as Dan Evans can keep

:25:26. > :25:31.holding his serve, the pressure will mount and at moments of crisis, in

:25:32. > :25:37.Scottish sport, you send for the proclaimers! The secret weapon! It

:25:38. > :25:43.works so well during the Commonwealth Games, let us see what

:25:44. > :25:50.impact it can have on Dan Evans. In terms of returning the serve from

:25:51. > :25:53.Mayer, 12 aces, I hugely high percentage of first serves in and a

:25:54. > :26:00.high percentage of first serves being one, can you afford to just

:26:01. > :26:05.take a punt and say, I will almost stand like Andy Murray does, just to

:26:06. > :26:10.see if I can put him off his stride? You should definitely change it,

:26:11. > :26:15.where you stand, but Andy Murray, those little stacks earlier on, the

:26:16. > :26:19.vast majority on the first serve, both sides have gone down the

:26:20. > :26:24.middle. Somebody like Andy Murray instinctively knows that so he leans

:26:25. > :26:28.a little bit on those, particularly on the big points, I am not sure

:26:29. > :26:33.that Dan Evans has felt that and that is the difference. Murray and

:26:34. > :26:36.Djokovic, they know instinctively where the vast majority of the

:26:37. > :27:48.serves are going and they pick that a fraction early.

:27:49. > :29:10.Evans is not happy that Mayer is taking so long over that serve but

:29:11. > :29:12.the Argentinian decided one of those balls was not good enough. He

:29:13. > :29:28.revealed. -- here we go. And the pressure

:29:29. > :29:32.seems almost immaterial. The way he is striking the ball and Dan Evans

:29:33. > :29:46.gets a warning for an audible obscenity.

:29:47. > :29:57.That was beautifully played by Mayer. Controlled, confident. But it

:29:58. > :30:11.is still poised, two each. One break year for Argentina perhaps

:30:12. > :30:16.puts them into the Davis Cup Final, and the break for Dan Evans will

:30:17. > :30:20.take us to the most thrilling finale of this engrossing Davis Cup Final.

:30:21. > :30:26.If you have just watched -- switched on, Sunday is going, if you have a

:30:27. > :30:29.nice quiet glass of sherry on a Sunday evening, this is probably not

:30:30. > :31:19.the place for you at the moment! Mayer launching himself into another

:31:20. > :32:15.of those big forehands. The net has been the friend of Dan

:32:16. > :32:40.Evans quite a few times but not there.

:32:41. > :32:48.That is brilliant from the Argentinian. And brutal for Dan

:32:49. > :32:53.Evans. And that might signal curtains for the hopes of Great

:32:54. > :32:57.Britain in the Davis cup in 2016. Two break points in this key moment.

:32:58. > :33:18.He took that on the rise, beautiful. There was not much margin for error,

:33:19. > :34:01.but that was OK. The first one is saved.

:34:02. > :34:14.Mayer breaks. And he might be breaking a few thousand tennis fans'

:34:15. > :34:22.Hearts in the Emirates Arena hear in Glasgow and at home as well. His

:34:23. > :34:26.legs, it was not that long, but a couple of those sliced backhand is,

:34:27. > :34:32.not getting as low as he normally does. That shot was very makeable.

:34:33. > :34:37.But you must give credit to the way that Mayer has played since losing

:34:38. > :34:41.the first set, he has really elevated his game. His serve has

:34:42. > :34:47.just become huge. So consistent and backing that up with these

:34:48. > :34:52.combinations, forehand or backhand, he never has given Dan Evans any

:34:53. > :34:56.chance to breathe, he pushed him back the whole time and he does not

:34:57. > :34:59.know how to get at him. He almost has looked a little bit

:35:00. > :35:03.one-dimensional today, Dan Evans, which is not something you normally

:35:04. > :35:10.associate him with but that has been down to the opponent, who has

:35:11. > :35:18.dictated these rallies. I suppose that Mayer will say to himself, 12

:35:19. > :35:22.big serves and I am there. But they always say the hardest point to win

:35:23. > :35:25.is the last one and the closer he gets to the finishing line, this is

:35:26. > :35:32.a huge moment for him in his career as well... And it is not done by any

:35:33. > :35:34.manner or means at the moment but Dan Evans must get his sights set on

:35:35. > :36:20.some of the serves. That was unfortunate but in that

:36:21. > :36:23.rally, you can see the weight of the shot on his ground strokes, those

:36:24. > :36:27.big forehands after the serve. He got him into the position where he

:36:28. > :36:29.should win that point but that was the off-balance overhead that he got

:36:30. > :37:09.very lucky with. 105, second serve, getting high

:37:10. > :37:14.again, Dan Evans trying to get over that but I think the slice would be

:37:15. > :37:21.a better option on that one. I think shortly we need to collectively send

:37:22. > :37:42.some positive thoughts to Dan Evans because he needs that at the moment.

:37:43. > :37:52.Are you kidding me? Well... I suppose that is the second serve

:37:53. > :37:59.from somebody who is up but what is second serve! 106. That is a joke,

:38:00. > :38:19.how good that was. A small crumb but greeted by huge

:38:20. > :39:06.ovation. Once again... Just having that

:39:07. > :39:10.ability to take over at the rally. That has been the difference,

:39:11. > :39:13.really. And obviously the serve but that forehand from a neutral

:39:14. > :39:18.position where he has been able to take charge of the rallies, that has

:39:19. > :39:21.been so much better than Dan Evans, the power and accuracy he has had

:39:22. > :39:30.since that first set. That has really been awesome. Dan Evans just

:39:31. > :39:35.has to keep hanging in there. And hope his opponent's level drops a

:39:36. > :39:43.little bit, and be ready when that happens. He cannot feel sorry for

:39:44. > :39:48.himself, he has to keep fighting. How many times have we seen that in

:39:49. > :39:52.this batch? He seems to have so much time, when somebody is playing well

:39:53. > :40:27.they look like they are never rushed, the control everything.

:40:28. > :41:13.A combination from the net. He just hasn't been able to get to the net

:41:14. > :41:47.that many times today. Well, he took back the bow and just

:41:48. > :41:51.took aim there, but it was long, so while there is life, there is hope.

:41:52. > :41:57.And you have to keep saying it's only one break of serve. And if

:41:58. > :42:00.Mayer does come up with another eight blistering first serves there

:42:01. > :42:05.are some moments you have to say, there's not much I could have done

:42:06. > :42:09.about it, but in those terms, he's got a thing, right, I've got to give

:42:10. > :42:15.myself a shot in this game, I've got to get level. How do I do that? Yes.

:42:16. > :42:19.It's also the Davis Cup semifinals. This is right at the business end of

:42:20. > :42:23.the set and the match and it is in his hands. Doesn't mean he's going

:42:24. > :42:30.to take it, though. Not in this position. I mean, his tennis hasn't

:42:31. > :42:35.been that great this season. That's why his ranking is so low. It's a

:42:36. > :42:38.difficult position. He would love to be in that position but you've still

:42:39. > :42:43.got to close it out. Dan Evans just has to be the best he can, hang on

:42:44. > :42:48.in there, just stretch am put the ball back in play. -- and put the

:42:49. > :43:06.ball. New balls, which won't help cause of

:43:07. > :43:50.Dan Evans, but you never know. Missed a couple of first serves. Get

:43:51. > :44:26.the ball in play and you never know. Brutal! Brutal serve! He's been as,

:44:27. > :44:33.still pot row was in his match against Andy Murray. -- as calm as

:44:34. > :44:49.Del Potro. Clinical, surgical, brutal. 131 on

:44:50. > :45:09.the line. Not much he can do about that.

:45:10. > :45:19.What a serve again! But what a swing! It's like his shoulder is

:45:20. > :45:55.elasticated. Just so free moving. Too good. Too good. Nearly there for

:45:56. > :46:00.Argentina. But this is where, and I know he's going to have to play the

:46:01. > :46:04.best game, he's going to have to hold his serve, make him earn it. Be

:46:05. > :46:09.holding out if he can do this for the finals of the Davis Cup. That's

:46:10. > :46:36.pressure. I don't care who you are, make him earn game. -- that game.

:46:37. > :48:16.Well, not much either captain can say here. Not really. And

:48:17. > :48:22.unfortunately, you try to save yourself if you are serving for the

:48:23. > :48:25.match, it's just a normal game, one point at the time, all that

:48:26. > :48:30.nonsense, but you can't help but think of it, and you just don't know

:48:31. > :48:34.what he's going to do here. His serve has been brilliant but doesn't

:48:35. > :48:39.mean it will be now, though. Evans has to somehow get a racket, change

:48:40. > :48:44.up where you are standing, just do something, for something different

:48:45. > :48:48.at him here. The Argentine captain, you can see him mouth the words "OK"

:48:49. > :49:03.to Mayer. That's almost enough. We are going to see if Juan Martin

:49:04. > :49:11.Del Potro is down there on the bench. Surely he must be. You think

:49:12. > :49:15.about all the controversy there was throughout the day about who was

:49:16. > :49:20.going to play in this match for Argentina and the sense that if it

:49:21. > :49:24.wasn't Del Potro, how destiny of the Davis Cup would swing towards Great

:49:25. > :49:31.Britain. Well, this man has risen to the occasion a big way. After three

:49:32. > :49:50.riveting debut at tennis, it comes down to this. -- days of tennis.

:49:51. > :50:02.He found the line! Can you believe that?! I thought he had pulled that.

:50:03. > :50:06.Not a bad time for Dan Evans to do this, though. That was a tactical

:50:07. > :50:35.one. That did not look like a nervous

:50:36. > :51:06.backhand. As the chequered flag nears the the

:51:07. > :51:43.end, the end might be nice. -- might be near.

:51:44. > :51:50.Well, we started at 1pm on Friday with that epic match between Del

:51:51. > :51:57.Potro and Andy Murray, and is this the end of this Davis Cup semifinal?

:51:58. > :52:04.Britain's reign of the world champions of tennis is over. And

:52:05. > :52:26.Leonardo Mayer takes Argentina to the Davis Cup final!

:52:27. > :52:34.Huge celebration for the men in the light blue and white strip, and you

:52:35. > :52:41.think about the great players who for Argentina over the years, David

:52:42. > :52:45.Nalbandian, they've had many opportunities to win the Davis Cup

:52:46. > :52:49.and have got to several finals but never lifted the trophy, but they

:52:50. > :52:53.will have the opportunity in a month's time or so, and there's a

:52:54. > :52:59.lovely shot of Juan Martin Del Potro embracing Andy Murray. Argentina or

:53:00. > :53:04.have a chance to win the Davis Cup in a few weeks' time when they play

:53:05. > :53:08.Croatia. -- will have the chance. And when you look at this

:53:09. > :53:15.extraordinary match over the last three days, isolated moments and a

:53:16. > :53:23.significant Andy Murray against Juan Martin Del Potro. Love-40 on the

:53:24. > :53:26.Murray serve. A volley from Murray and then a truly extraordinary

:53:27. > :53:34.winner down the line from Del Potro, and then in that moment,

:53:35. > :53:38.crystallising the five margins of international sport, and you can see

:53:39. > :53:46.what it means to the victors. And that was one of the matches of his

:53:47. > :53:55.life. And I'm assuming we are going to hear on court from one of the

:53:56. > :54:03.Argentine players, but I'm not quite sure who. And obviously, bit by bit,

:54:04. > :54:07.the majority of the England fans are leaving but the Argentine fans are

:54:08. > :54:13.staying. It's been an extraordinary moment and they've done the cup is

:54:14. > :54:18.proud and the crowd proud, and a most memorable occasion over the

:54:19. > :54:21.last three days. -- they've done the cup proud. Perhaps a bridge too far

:54:22. > :54:26.for Andy Murray after such an exhausting schedule over the last

:54:27. > :54:32.few months. Britain relied on him so much over the last couple of years.

:54:33. > :54:40.And you can't say he fell short because he and Jamie played so well

:54:41. > :54:45.yesterday and in the end, Leonardo Mayer playing such a brilliant game

:54:46. > :54:48.today, and look at that. The main statistic there that leaps out at

:54:49. > :54:56.you and ultimately decided that match, the second one down on the

:54:57. > :55:06.right, 83% first serves one. -- first serves won. And they have done

:55:07. > :55:13.well to withstand that barrage. A fantastic performance by Mayer. And

:55:14. > :55:17.all the while today, the feeling was that if Del Potro wasn't fit enough

:55:18. > :55:22.to play the deciding singles, that Great Britain might have a real

:55:23. > :55:25.chance of getting through to the final and retaining, defending and

:55:26. > :55:29.retaining the Davis Cup for the first time in 80 years, but it

:55:30. > :55:35.wasn't to be. And there's a reason that only ten times in the 35 years

:55:36. > :55:39.of the world group of the Davis Cup, the Premier League, if you like,

:55:40. > :55:55.there's a reason that only ten times in 35 years country has come from

:55:56. > :56:03.to-0 down to win 2-2. -- 2-0 down. I think we are hoping to hear from

:56:04. > :56:18.Leon Smith in a few moments time. But first of all, it might be

:56:19. > :56:22.Leonardo Mayer. SUE BARKER: Well, thanks to John,

:56:23. > :56:27.and look at the Argentinian team. They are putting their fans, you've

:56:28. > :56:31.certainly made their presence felt, because the barmy army have been

:56:32. > :56:37.absolutely outstanding cheering on the Stirling team. But Leo Mayer,

:56:38. > :56:40.very emotional playing that winning match to take the tie and put

:56:41. > :56:44.Argentina through to the final. We are hoping to hear from him but he's

:56:45. > :56:47.going to have to try to get his emotions in check before he heads

:56:48. > :56:53.over to Annabel Croft, and we will want to hear from the captain as

:56:54. > :56:57.well. And also Leon Smith, as well, as the losing team captain. But Juan

:56:58. > :57:02.Martin Del Potro, well, we wondered when he decided not to play whether

:57:03. > :57:06.Dan Evans could pull off this fantastic victory over Mayer, but it

:57:07. > :57:10.wasn't to be, and you have to applaud Leonardo Mayer, who played a

:57:11. > :57:14.superb game. John Lloyd is with me at the moment. You couldn't fault

:57:15. > :57:19.him, could you? You didn't put a foot wrong? No. To be honest, he

:57:20. > :57:27.outclassed him. A wonderful performance. What his ranking is

:57:28. > :57:34.doing where it is, I've no idea! He was over 21 last year... Well,

:57:35. > :57:39.absolutely. The way he played today, superb. He served so well and the

:57:40. > :57:43.power, and the placement as well. He didn't really give Dan a chance to

:57:44. > :57:50.get his racket on the ball, did he? Not really. And even if he did get

:57:51. > :57:54.on the ball, his back-up behind him, it was just immense. An amazing

:57:55. > :57:59.performance. I didn't expect him to play that well. Leon Smith is making

:58:00. > :58:05.his way off court but this might be emotional.

:58:06. > :58:09.Well played, Leonardo Mayer. That was a fantastic performance. We can

:58:10. > :58:12.see how emotional you are. Can you tell us how it feels to have sealed

:58:13. > :58:27.the tide for Argentina to make it through to their fifth final? -- the

:58:28. > :59:06.TRANSLATION: He feels very emotional because he hasn't been able to play

:59:07. > :59:11.due to his injury for many years, so he is delighted to be back on form

:59:12. > :59:14.and he would like to thank his team, his technical team, because they

:59:15. > :59:17.have been very supportive throughout this journey.

:59:18. > :59:21.APPLAUSE Well, they certainly did a fantastic

:59:22. > :59:24.job out there. What is it about the Davis Cup that seems to bring out

:59:25. > :59:50.the best in you and the passion you bring to representing your country?

:59:51. > :59:56.TRANSLATION: He doesn't know what it is about the Davis Cup but

:59:57. > :00:03.definitely it brings the best in him and he gives thanks to his team and

:00:04. > :00:07.supporters and the whole crowd. Well, we will let you go and

:00:08. > :00:11.celebrate with your team. Many congratulations. Thank you, thank

:00:12. > :00:24.you very much. Well, you can see just how emotional

:00:25. > :00:30.it was. He didn't show any emotion in the match. No emotion on his face

:00:31. > :00:33.at all but it is all pouring out at the moment. They are such a

:00:34. > :00:37.passionate nation as far as tennis goes and you talk about the crowd

:00:38. > :00:41.history going back many decades. Many decades, and they felt they had

:00:42. > :00:46.an opportunity to win the Davis Cup this year and Del Potro has been so

:00:47. > :00:50.committed to it. Let's hear from the captain.

:00:51. > :00:56.Congratulations, Daniel. We can see what this means to Argentina. You

:00:57. > :01:01.must be a very, very proud captain for your team. I am, and that is the

:01:02. > :01:06.word, proud. These four players, the players who didn't come as well.

:01:07. > :01:10.They are supporting us from home from different tournaments. They are

:01:11. > :01:14.all part of the team. The coaches. We include everyone because there's

:01:15. > :01:19.a lot of people behind this team and today we can celebrate with all the

:01:20. > :01:24.Argentina crowd who are always with us. And you must also be very proud

:01:25. > :01:28.of Leonardo Mayer, who came out here and showed enormous strength of

:01:29. > :01:33.character? It's not easy under this pressure to play a fifth try, but

:01:34. > :01:38.what were the tactics that worked so effectively today? Well, Leo has

:01:39. > :01:43.played very, very good matches, Davis Cup matches, before, so he has

:01:44. > :01:48.the feeling in his body and his mind, even though he is out of the

:01:49. > :01:52.top hundred players now. That is not his level. He is so much higher and

:01:53. > :01:57.he showed it today. He was a bit nervous on the first set. Daniel

:01:58. > :02:04.played very well as well. But when he found his rhythm, he was on top

:02:05. > :02:09.of him all the time. So we trusted his quality, his player quality, and

:02:10. > :02:12.also his human quality which is enormous. And you kept us all

:02:13. > :02:20.guessing, because you thought he would play the fifth try, but you

:02:21. > :02:23.put him in to bat? Yes, we had to keep it for ourselves into the last

:02:24. > :02:30.moment for Great Britain to be thinking a bit, but we knew it from

:02:31. > :02:35.this morning, from last night that Mayer would play. And what does it

:02:36. > :02:39.mean to Argentina to be into your fifth final? You've never won the

:02:40. > :02:43.Davis Cup so how do you feel going into a fifth final? I believe it

:02:44. > :02:47.will be an honour to play another final but today we are going to

:02:48. > :02:52.enjoy the semifinal victory. I'm going to let you enjoy it, but just

:02:53. > :02:56.your thoughts on facing Croatia in the final? To be honest, I can't

:02:57. > :03:01.think about that right now. I know it is a very strong team and we are

:03:02. > :03:07.playing away once again but we will go with our illusion of winning,

:03:08. > :03:12.preparing ourselves as well as we can. I think we better let you go

:03:13. > :03:16.and enjoy the celebrations. Congratulations and best of luck in

:03:17. > :03:22.the final. Thank you, thank you to the British rock -- public. They

:03:23. > :03:23.were very respectful and impassioned.

:03:24. > :03:26.Thank you. SUE BARKER: It's certainly been an

:03:27. > :03:32.emotional roller-coaster for the teams for the past three days but it

:03:33. > :03:35.is the blue and white of Argentina who celebrate. The fans from

:03:36. > :03:38.Stirling University are still there and still hoping to applaud the

:03:39. > :03:42.British team but they have headed off to the locker room. But they've

:03:43. > :03:47.played their part as well. We've come to the end and I don't have

:03:48. > :03:51.time to discuss it! But huge thanks to you for your commentary over the

:03:52. > :03:56.last few days and it certainly was a dramatic day of tennis here in

:03:57. > :03:59.Glasgow. Andy Murray got Britain level but Dan Evans just couldn't

:04:00. > :04:04.beat the magic of Leonardo Mayer. So it is Argentina who go through to

:04:05. > :04:07.the final but a disappointing day for British tennis. Hope you've

:04:08. > :04:26.enjoyed it, though. Goodbye from us all.
