:00:27. > :00:32.diving Championships in Barcelona. It has been a fantastic week for the
:00:32. > :00:36.girls flying the flag for British diving. All of them have big --
:00:36. > :00:43.performed in India. Today is all about Tom Daly who struggled through
:00:43. > :00:47.the preliminary rounds. He is in the finals. Leon Taylor, Olympics of a
:00:47. > :00:54.medallist from 2004 is with me to discuss Tom Daly's injury -based
:00:54. > :00:58.drama but first let's hear from Tom himself.
:00:58. > :01:01.When you wake up on competition date, it is just the worst thing
:01:01. > :01:06.that can happen because there is just so much force that goes through
:01:06. > :01:13.your body. After each round, they've nursed me back together, compressed
:01:13. > :01:20.the muscle, so it has been tough, and a painful morning but I got
:01:21. > :01:24.through. Is it getting any better? It is difficult for it to get better
:01:24. > :01:29.when I am still diving. To be honest, anything can happen in
:01:29. > :01:33.diving. It is going to be a tough one because everyone is diving very
:01:33. > :01:36.well. With this injury and the preparation I've had, it is going to
:01:36. > :01:42.be one of those competitions where I have to go into it and give it my
:01:42. > :01:46.best shot knowing it is a miracle to be even able to compete. In a couple
:01:46. > :01:50.of dives, you are struggling, but in the final dive, it was there.
:01:50. > :01:54.is the reason why I put that reversed three and a half on the
:01:54. > :01:58.last dive. When I did the Olympics, because it was the lowest
:01:58. > :02:02.difficulty, people criticise me about why you put that in the end
:02:02. > :02:07.because it was the lowest degree of difficulty. But I know I can do it
:02:07. > :02:12.well under pressure. And I can pull it out of the bag. Do you still
:02:12. > :02:20.think you can challenge for a medal? Anything can happen, , but
:02:20. > :02:25.medals aren't in the forefront of my mind. I would be amazed to get one,
:02:25. > :02:30.I will give it my best shot. He said himself it is a miracle he's
:02:30. > :02:34.in the competition. It has been torrid, has let? He didn't start
:02:34. > :02:39.very well. He was struggling with a virus. Then he got going, injured
:02:39. > :02:45.his shoulder, took time out from that. When he recovered from that,
:02:45. > :02:53.his triceps has torn. The injury is plaguing him here. He recovered from
:02:53. > :03:03.it, and he needs to rest it. All you need to do is get in and train. It
:03:03. > :03:07.has gone again. That is why we see all the ice strapped to him.
:03:07. > :03:11.significant is that? Most people would say it is just a sore arm.
:03:11. > :03:14.you can imagine entering the water, the most important part of the dive,
:03:14. > :03:20.you have to lock your arms out, which is one of the things Tom isn't
:03:20. > :03:24.able to do at the moment. He's got the ice on it, because to get into
:03:24. > :03:28.the water with absolutely no splash, the rip entry, you have to lock out
:03:28. > :03:32.your arms, and to perform handstand, which is the dive we will see him
:03:32. > :03:37.open with, you need to lock out your arms. So it is tough for him. He
:03:37. > :03:41.will tough it out, you will be in some pain, let's see how he goes.
:03:41. > :03:45.Some surprising results so far. How much that is down to the fact this
:03:45. > :03:49.is an outside condition? Dinner-mac of the Chinese divers that came
:03:49. > :03:55.fourth in London did need and make it through. And Qui Bo, defending
:03:55. > :03:58.world champion, qualified in sixth place. He was 18th after the first
:03:58. > :04:06.two rounds of the semi-final which is a dead last place which is very
:04:06. > :04:11.unusual. Out laws have as opened new factors. Sunshine reflecting off the
:04:11. > :04:16.water. You can be diving into this shade. And it was windy yesterday.
:04:16. > :04:19.So if you bounce on your tiptoes with a bit of wind blowing about, it
:04:19. > :04:23.can be offputting. And you've got some cream all of you to protect
:04:23. > :04:29.yourself from the 30 degrees heat I was enjoying yesterday, semi-be Qui
:04:29. > :04:35.Bo got some cream in his eyes which is why he arrived in with his back!
:04:35. > :04:40.It is amazing that it can affect athletes at such a high level! But
:04:40. > :04:46.anything can happen. The diving is under way. Go and join Bob Ballard
:04:46. > :04:50.in the commentary box. And we will in the commentary box. And we will
:04:50. > :04:58.now continue to the all-important in the commentary box. And we will
:04:58. > :05:01.now continue to Welcome to Barcelona. Real top of the form
:05:01. > :05:11.diving event, a real protest -year-old prestigious one, everybody
:05:11. > :05:11.
:05:11. > :05:21.wants to win it. Tom Daly won it in Rome in 2009. David Boudia wire,
:05:21. > :05:35.
:05:35. > :05:41.whom we will seek at the end is the the Russian team. They've got
:05:41. > :05:50.through a few of their ten metre divers through the years. This is a
:05:50. > :05:54.relatively low score. And here is the youngest of the competitors, it
:05:54. > :06:00.was always the case that Tom Daly was the youngest when he made the
:06:00. > :06:05.final, but this is a diver one-year younger than him. Chiarabini from
:06:05. > :06:10.Italy. An inward three and a half somersault with touch. It is worth
:06:10. > :06:20.3.2. We will explain the newcomers how this scoring system works after
:06:20. > :06:21.
:06:21. > :06:26.this. Remember the top two marks and the bottom two marks are discarded
:06:26. > :06:31.and we look for the three in the middle. They are multiplied by the
:06:31. > :06:41.degree of difficulty, which is why we get the final score, and this one
:06:41. > :06:51.is 60.80. Not quite the solid dive he was hoping for with that inward
:06:51. > :06:57.
:06:57. > :07:03.three and a half. At the moment, Tom Daley. Forward three and a half
:07:03. > :07:11.somersaults. We have two Mexicans and two Russians involved in this
:07:11. > :07:16.competition. Here is the one Cuban. Good start. A fantastic experience
:07:16. > :07:19.over the years starting to pay dividends. This is very low degree
:07:19. > :07:29.of difficulty compared to what we will see this afternoon. It needed
:07:29. > :07:36.
:07:36. > :07:43.to be good. He lost to strikes as he went in. 63 total. We will see the
:07:43. > :07:47.super slow Mo with the divers superimposed against the backdrop.
:07:47. > :07:54.Now, a big disparity between his preliminary dive and his semi-final
:07:54. > :07:58.dive, here is Tom Daley. Here I always think arm stand outdoors
:07:58. > :08:05.should be worth more than they are, however, on this occasion it will
:08:05. > :08:13.not be. It will be worth 3.5. It is an arm stand back triple somersault.
:08:13. > :08:23.He got 59.5 on the preliminary. 89.25 in the semi-final. Much
:08:23. > :08:47.
:08:47. > :08:52.effort. He over rotates. There is the team supporting Tom. Bear in
:08:52. > :08:57.mind, he's under pressure, lots of pain in that tricep and doing that
:08:57. > :09:02.tricep, he was weak on the take-off. Over rotates inside Cleef.
:09:02. > :09:12.There is the super slow motion. See the strain coming in, heavily
:09:12. > :09:12.
:09:12. > :09:19.strapped on the tricep. Tom waiting for the schools. 71.75. There was no
:09:20. > :09:24.strength in his arms. Anyway, let's have a look at what was the story of
:09:24. > :09:27.the day because this man was 18th midway through the competition, the
:09:27. > :09:34.defending champion from Shanghai two years ago, second at the Olympic
:09:34. > :09:44.Games, here is Qui Bo, inward three and half somersaults with pike.
:09:44. > :09:51.
:09:51. > :09:55.do this dive on inward three and a half pike. Look how close his toes
:09:55. > :10:01.have to come to the platform for him to make this dive. He is short of
:10:01. > :10:06.rotation. He's taking a high risk and it is not paying off the Qui
:10:06. > :10:12.Bo, the defending champion. His ankles just above his forehead there
:10:12. > :10:22.in that super deep pike shape. 71.75, the exact same mark as Tom
:10:22. > :10:30.Daly got. So, joint third at the moment, Tom Daley and Qui Bo. That
:10:30. > :10:40.is a very good opening dive. Now, one of the two Mexicans, who has not
:10:40. > :10:41.
:10:41. > :10:46.got a 4.1 in his programme. He did a 4.1 in London. Opting not to go for
:10:46. > :10:56.the 4.1, he will start with a 3.3. A back three and a half somersaults
:10:56. > :11:05.
:11:06. > :11:10.than he has been, maybe. The crowd in front of fantastic and warm
:11:10. > :11:17.atmosphere in Barcelona. German moving away from the diving board a
:11:17. > :11:27.little bit. Washing long, as we call it, so the judges will not go above
:11:27. > :11:27.
:11:27. > :11:34.7.5 for that one. He arched his back as he goes in. 70.95. The other
:11:34. > :11:38.Mexican, when he comes up, he does 3.7, 3.8 and a 4.1. If he is on his
:11:38. > :11:44.game today, nobody will touch with those figures but he has to do all
:11:44. > :11:47.of those. It is a very high-risk tariff for him. 3.24 Victor
:11:47. > :11:57.Minibaev. Inward three and a half somersaults with tack, opening dive
:11:57. > :12:08.
:12:08. > :12:14.disappointment of the crowd from the Russian team support. Mini bio of
:12:14. > :12:19.looking good in training. Looks a little bit nervous. His dive is
:12:19. > :12:24.short of vertical. Not the opening he will be looking for. It is his
:12:24. > :12:29.easiest dive. A 3.2 degrees of difficulty. See the disappointment
:12:29. > :12:34.on his face, frustrating. A very low 's warring final, what's happening?
:12:34. > :12:41.It hasn't got going! Sascha Klein in both preliminaries and semifinals
:12:41. > :12:47.could not get this dive right. Then he better afterwards. He's done very
:12:47. > :12:51.well. If he gets this right, it puts you in prime position. So, Sascha
:12:51. > :12:58.Klein's opening dive, inward to half -- three and a half somersaults with
:12:58. > :13:04.tarp. That is his best one, much, much better. He's the only one in
:13:04. > :13:08.round one so far that has actually done a dive worth commentating on!
:13:08. > :13:11.We are being a bit harsh but this is what we need to see. This is the
:13:11. > :13:16.world championship final, a year after the Olympic Games in London,
:13:16. > :13:20.this is what we want to see. You can see the sunshine reflecting off the
:13:20. > :13:29.water. That glare makes it difficult to know where the water is. He is
:13:29. > :13:34.saying just chill out. Much better. 86.40, he goes clear by eight
:13:34. > :13:42.points. Even on his best dive, his coach looked like he had a face like
:13:42. > :13:50.thunder! You never got into it. He had a fantastic 90 plus dive.
:13:50. > :13:59.Garcia, 3.7, only to divers will do a 4.1 in this competition. That is
:13:59. > :14:08.Qui Bo. In the days when Leon was diving, you never got the four s.
:14:08. > :14:14.Opening dive for even Garcia is -- Ivan Garcia is a big one. He is not
:14:14. > :14:19.on his game either! A big opening dive. The forward for the half
:14:19. > :14:27.somersaults, 3.7 degrees of difficulty. He spins like a spinning
:14:27. > :14:32.top, going into that tuck shape. Was he put off by the reflection in the
:14:32. > :14:39.water? Who knows. Ten out of 11 have been off today. He is not vertical
:14:39. > :14:47.going in. Frustration through and through. Because these tariffs are
:14:47. > :14:54.so high, you can pick it up, but look at that, 64.75, not the start
:14:54. > :15:04.he had wanted. Now, this man was very consistent all the way through.
:15:04. > :15:07.
:15:07. > :15:12.This is good I have. -- this is today in Barcelona compared to
:15:12. > :15:16.yesterday. Yesterday was breezy. At one stage the wind was face on. Now
:15:16. > :15:26.it is behind the diving board. It is repeating a little bit but easing
:15:26. > :15:42.
:15:42. > :15:51.champion. Faltered slightly, but at once he gets going here. Sees the
:15:51. > :16:01.water, punches a hole with his hands. Might get 8.5, his
:16:01. > :16:03.
:16:03. > :16:07.expression was a slight crooners. He goes into the lead. The leader
:16:07. > :16:13.from yesterday continues to be the leader going into the first round
:16:13. > :16:23.of the final. Tom Daley is on the leaderboard. Not a great opening
:16:23. > :16:38.
:16:38. > :16:45.opening dive for him. Looking at the bird life in Barcelona. Such a
:16:45. > :16:52.stunning venues. 10 years ago, I wasn't there competing. I also had
:16:52. > :17:02.a triceps injury, so it must be something to do with Barcelona and
:17:02. > :17:05.
:17:05. > :17:15.British dive. Second round, opening dive of the Belorussian. On stand,
:17:15. > :17:25.
:17:25. > :17:30.for word double somersault, won Straight up and down dining. From
:17:30. > :17:40.that angle he looks like he does but his forehead on the diving
:17:40. > :18:06.
:18:06. > :18:16.were 4.5 somersaults with tuck. Much better than Ivan Garcia. He
:18:16. > :18:17.
:18:17. > :18:22.was pretty vertical. 3.7, won't be getting the big marks on this
:18:22. > :18:32.because of the waste Bashar al- Assad works. But that will put him
:18:32. > :18:40.up there. Coach likes it. Not giving too much away on that. He is
:18:40. > :18:45.definitely in the mix. This is the new generation of Russians are
:18:45. > :18:54.emerging. He did not start particularly well. Got himself
:18:54. > :19:04.going and got much better as the semi-finals went on. This will be
:19:04. > :19:06.
:19:06. > :19:10.worth 3.6 in degree of difficulty. Landed on his shoulders, and relief.
:19:10. > :19:17.Pretty good take-off. I have been watching him in training and has
:19:17. > :19:27.some Class C dives. Take off is good. Just let go of his shape a
:19:27. > :19:32.
:19:32. > :19:38.little bit early. Squeezing in the beautiful background. Almost super
:19:38. > :19:48.imposed on that. May be needed to be a little bit tighter. A couple
:19:48. > :19:51.of judges did not like that. Not terribly good. Here comes the
:19:51. > :20:01.youngest competitor in the competition from Italy. 18 years of
:20:01. > :20:08.
:20:08. > :20:16.age. Forward 4.5. He was diving out of his skin in the prelims. And he
:20:16. > :20:22.was a surprise to be in the final. Just a little bit frustrated. Head
:20:22. > :20:29.position looked good, so he should have seen were he was. It caused
:20:29. > :20:36.him to over rotate. The crowd of almost doing the dive with the
:20:36. > :20:46.divers. Others are faltering around him, so it is not a lost cause. But
:20:46. > :21:15.
:21:15. > :21:19.rotating forward. You cannot see where you are going on back 3.5,
:21:19. > :21:29.you can only see where you have been. Just a little bit too high
:21:29. > :21:50.
:21:50. > :22:00.if not spectacular opening from him. In words 3.5 somersault with tuck.
:22:00. > :22:23.
:22:23. > :22:30.If he can get this, he will be in the coach's reaction. Just what we
:22:30. > :22:38.needed from his second round. Strong take-off, squeezing into the
:22:38. > :22:48.tuck shape. Spots of the water, locks out his arms as quickly as he
:22:48. > :22:57.
:22:57. > :23:03.quite high mark in there was a nine. But it was discounted along with
:23:03. > :23:13.the lower marks. Tom Daley are for the time being, in second place.
:23:13. > :23:24.
:23:24. > :23:31.for him. Can he picked it up there now? It has taken him a while to
:23:31. > :23:41.get going today, but there you go. That is why Qui Bo is the defending
:23:41. > :23:47.world champion. Straight out of the top drawer. The degree of
:23:47. > :23:53.difficulty. Technically spot on. He makes it look so effortless. There
:23:53. > :24:03.is the reaction, his coach is happy. We will find out why it is good in
:24:03. > :24:12.
:24:12. > :24:22.a moment. On his way to being gold- medallist again. 18 points clear of
:24:22. > :24:52.
:24:53. > :25:02.Tom Daley. Sanchez. 3.5 somersault the window. Little bit scruffy as
:25:03. > :25:09.
:25:09. > :25:14.he went in. -- wind. And it just over rotating. He does do in would
:25:14. > :25:24.3.5, this one was in would 4.5, so I think he was taking his time to
:25:24. > :25:25.
:25:25. > :25:31.make sure he was doing the right dive. 81.60. Now, talking about
:25:31. > :25:38.people who take their time. Here comes Victor Minibaev, who never
:25:38. > :25:45.rushes anything. Just missed out on a medal in London, in 4th place. It
:25:45. > :25:54.is the forward 4.5 again, 3.7 degree of difficulty in that tuck
:25:54. > :26:04.position. Launches himself. He likes to launch himself into the
:26:04. > :26:10.
:26:10. > :26:17.middle of the pool. This makes the dive very difficult to control. He
:26:17. > :26:27.is suffering with a lower back injury. That is still very good. He
:26:27. > :26:29.
:26:29. > :26:37.is my dark horse for a medal. Touch-judges not overly impressed.
:26:37. > :26:47.-- the judges. This is my outside bet for a medal. Sascha Klein,
:26:47. > :26:48.
:26:48. > :26:56.after getting that bogey dive out of the weight. He this is the dive
:26:56. > :27:02.he has been struggling with in training. Squeezing in, this is
:27:02. > :27:12.such a difficult dive. To control the entry. He is marginally short
:27:12. > :27:15.
:27:15. > :27:25.of vertical. His coach did not like it. No where near as good as he did
:27:25. > :27:35.
:27:35. > :27:45.Garcia, this is rudimentary for him. 3.3, a back, 3.5 per somersault
:27:45. > :27:54.
:27:54. > :28:03.with tuck. He needs to make his going to get some difficulty on
:28:03. > :28:13.that dive. Could take off, squeezes in. Seems to spin very slowly. Good
:28:13. > :28:14.
:28:14. > :28:24.enough. It is a one of his and lower degrees of difficulties. He
:28:24. > :28:34.will be pleased with that. Does not move him anywhere. David Boudia,
:28:34. > :28:36.
:28:37. > :28:46.now. He needs 79 to go into the lead. In with 3.5 somersaults with
:28:47. > :29:05.
:29:05. > :29:08.him. Great, strong take-off. He does a forward roll under the water to
:29:08. > :29:14.keep the splash down and give the impression he wasn't over rotating,
:29:14. > :29:24.but we've got him. There's his coach, he likes it, but let's see
:29:24. > :29:28.
:29:28. > :29:35.what the judges think. I didn't see the save under the water. And
:29:35. > :29:44.neither did the judges. Here are the standings. In fifth place, Tom
:29:44. > :29:54.Daley, 14 points away from a bronze medal. A big dive to come. It will
:29:54. > :29:54.
:29:54. > :31:51.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 116 seconds
:31:51. > :31:56.sort out the men from the boys, and feet. Manage to sort it out by the
:31:56. > :32:06.end. He gets it all together at the end and manages to keep the entry
:32:06. > :32:18.
:32:18. > :32:28.down. 86 point 40 in the final. B36 this weekend. Still relatively
:32:28. > :32:36.
:32:36. > :32:42.unknown to us. Has a 3.2 in would 3.5 somersaults. Just may be
:32:42. > :32:51.collapsing a little as he went into the water. As we watched the replay,
:32:51. > :32:59.maybe just losing the tension in his arms. I was talking earlier
:32:59. > :33:02.about the sunlight on the water. Is that affecting this competition? It
:33:02. > :33:12.is a poor quality compared to what I was watching in training
:33:12. > :33:17.
:33:17. > :33:20.yesterday. They have gone through three rounds and they have done
:33:20. > :33:29.their semi-final dives for approximately at the same time they
:33:29. > :33:39.are doing them today. Perhaps it is affecting them? The Italian has to
:33:39. > :33:42.
:33:42. > :33:52.think about his handstand. Just under done, if you like. Landing on
:33:52. > :33:53.
:33:53. > :34:00.his shoulders rather than his hands. Great tuck shape, squeezing in. He
:34:00. > :34:10.is having a tough final. Showing his inexperience now come as we go
:34:10. > :34:35.
:34:35. > :34:44.of difficulty. Arms stand, back a double somersault. Overcooked it on
:34:44. > :34:54.the finish. Only 1.5 and twists, so a 3.2 degree of difficulty.
:34:54. > :34:56.
:34:56. > :35:06.Flicking off to get the rotations. 1.5 twists. That reaction said it
:35:06. > :35:18.
:35:18. > :35:23.dive in the semi-finals yesterday. Spent a lot of time over it, too. A
:35:23. > :35:30.lot of concentration and intends to make sure he got it right. Needs to
:35:30. > :35:37.do it again today. 3.6 is the degree of difficulty. Yesterday, in
:35:37. > :35:44.the semi-finals, a massive 93.60. If he can do anything like that
:35:44. > :35:53.today, he can secure a top-five place for now. Intense
:35:53. > :36:03.concentration there is on that phase. Concentration working well
:36:03. > :36:03.
:36:03. > :37:05.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 116 seconds
:37:05. > :37:15.reverse three and a half somersaults. Second after round two.
:37:15. > :37:24.Completely unfazed by Tom Daly. That is textbook Qui Bo, Olympics of the
:37:24. > :37:28.medallist, world defending champion. This is slightly lower degree of
:37:28. > :37:33.difficulty, but he will be pushing 99 points and self. Perfect tens
:37:33. > :37:38.will give him that. My prediction is perfect tens. It doesn't get better
:37:39. > :37:43.than that. Amazing, look at that, squeezing, knees touching his chin,
:37:43. > :37:49.Mrs had around, any young divers at home watching, apart from those
:37:49. > :37:54.booties got on those flat feet, look at that! There's the reaction.
:37:54. > :38:02.do the judges think quiz-mac ten, ten, ten. 99 points, exactly the
:38:02. > :38:10.same as Tom Daley, but it is not the same degree of difficulty. Qui Bo
:38:11. > :38:20.keeps as a team point of advantage over Tom Daley. Now, on to German
:38:21. > :38:29.
:38:29. > :38:35.Sanchez, another one of them best divers will see. And Sanchez is in
:38:35. > :38:42.second place, having to follow toomac exemplary dives from Tom
:38:42. > :38:52.Daley and Qui Bo. Whatever you can do, I can do better. Added pressure
:38:52. > :39:00.with the handstand. Doing too much, you could end up all over the place.
:39:00. > :39:06.He won't get tens, but he should get nines. Look at the various tablets
:39:06. > :39:16.capturing all the action. It'll be on you Tube in Mexico in no time at
:39:16. > :39:23.
:39:23. > :39:28.all. He's in fourth. Can he back this up now quiz-mac he had a fairly
:39:28. > :39:32.indifferent first round. He is having a great third round,
:39:32. > :39:42.everybody is doing great and more. No pressure on you, then. Reversed
:39:42. > :39:48.
:39:48. > :39:53.three and a half somersaults with he's jumping too far away from the
:39:53. > :40:00.diving board, affecting the control of the dive. Look out for he leaps
:40:00. > :40:06.away. You could fit three people between him and the diving board, so
:40:06. > :40:14.he's diving over to his front side. Over rotates. Probably out of the
:40:14. > :40:22.medals. Does he do that in training quiz-mac yes. Why doesn't his coat
:40:22. > :40:27.stop him doing it quiz-mac I don't know. If you land in the middle of
:40:27. > :40:32.the pool, you get marked down. It is difficult to control. It is
:40:32. > :40:42.difficult to control. Anyway. Sascha Klein is in third place after the
:40:42. > :40:43.
:40:43. > :40:52.last round. And a good solid opening, a good round two. Such a
:40:52. > :41:02.big dive, and Sasha is bigger than the other athletes. His toes,
:41:02. > :41:13.
:41:13. > :41:19.incredibly close. A big degree of difficulty. That will count towards
:41:19. > :41:23.a total of 75.254 Sascha Klein, which puts him in third place. Now,
:41:23. > :41:33.we're waiting for Ivan Garcia to get going. We have talked about him and
:41:33. > :41:36.
:41:36. > :41:46.his big dives. Here comes a 3.6. If he can get his game face on, and get
:41:46. > :41:53.
:41:53. > :41:56.going, he will be there or thereabouts. We are waiting for him
:41:56. > :42:06.to make that move. This is worth 3.6. He is taking a lot of time from
:42:06. > :42:16.
:42:16. > :42:19.the lotus position into the upright position. He struggled a little bit.
:42:19. > :42:22.He's got lots to fit in in this dive. He's a little bit stuck so he
:42:22. > :42:25.didn't have enough rotation in order to make it, so he's dropping like a
:42:25. > :42:28.stone. He needed a ten and a half meter platform to make it perfect.
:42:28. > :42:38.So he's not showing some of the form he has shown in previous finals. He
:42:38. > :42:40.
:42:40. > :42:50.is too stuck a frustrating. It was a long time before he started as well.
:42:50. > :42:54.Yes, he has gone to seventh place. Now, David Boudia. Mike O'Connor
:42:54. > :43:04.league, Leon, making that signal towards me, as if this is the
:43:04. > :43:14.questionable dive, which could go wrong. Not today! It is a big dive.
:43:14. > :43:22.
:43:22. > :43:32.We have seen other divers full train. Boudia is solid as a rock.
:43:32. > :43:35.
:43:35. > :43:45.See him drop into that form a half summer. Count them if you can.
:43:45. > :44:01.
:44:01. > :44:11.Scruffy and the entry. He will not get all than eight, but he will be
:44:11. > :44:15.
:44:15. > :44:17.in the top three. Let's look at the marks the David Boudia. What does it
:44:17. > :44:20.mean for the overall standings? Qui Bo at the top, David Boudia second,
:44:20. > :44:22.Tom Daley in third place, nine plays advantage of Oleksandr Bondar. So,
:44:22. > :44:29.Sascha Klein in fifth. Garcia staying rooted in eighth place.
:44:29. > :44:39.much to do for the field. This man has been good all the way through
:44:39. > :45:01.
:45:01. > :45:06.but his problem, he doesn't go above Sometimes he comes very close to the
:45:06. > :45:10.ten metre on this dive. He is a safe distance from the diving board. He
:45:10. > :45:20.looks close to you at home, however, he has been a lot closer to that and
:45:20. > :45:28.
:45:28. > :45:38.the judges will penalise him. is the one he split his head open
:45:38. > :45:53.
:45:53. > :45:57.on. It must be difficult remembering that. I bet he was fidgeting a lot
:45:57. > :45:59.before it. Probably not going to be in the mix. This man is not too far
:45:59. > :46:01.away, though. Oleksandr Bondar, back three and a half somersaults with
:46:01. > :46:11.touch. What a dive! He fudged the finish. Absolutely burying the entry
:46:11. > :46:11.
:46:11. > :46:21.into the water. That entry was textbook. He's in fourth, that is
:46:21. > :46:22.
:46:22. > :46:29.pressure on the rest of the field. To nines, in total, Oleksandr
:46:29. > :46:33.Bondar, 19.75, pressure put on by the man from Ukraine. Sergey Nazin,
:46:33. > :46:40.he has not backed up what he did in the preliminaries and the semifinals
:46:40. > :46:46.thus far. It could change now with three more rounds to go. It looked
:46:46. > :46:52.better on the take-off, very strong. Lots going on. He will be a star of
:46:52. > :47:00.the future. Just full train, may be under pressure today. That is
:47:00. > :47:06.superb. -- just faltering. He needed to come out of the dive sooner. He
:47:06. > :47:16.needed to be further away. doesn't help his cause that much,
:47:16. > :47:17.
:47:17. > :47:23.his score. The standard has improved so much the last couple of mock --
:47:23. > :47:33.rounds. Andrea Chiarabini, the youngster of the 12 from Italy. Back
:47:33. > :47:34.
:47:34. > :47:39.three and a half somersaults with touch. -- with tap. That is a little
:47:39. > :47:45.glimpse of what we were seeing in the semi-final. He has got a lot to
:47:45. > :47:51.offer. Watching him training, he is inconsistent at the moment. He takes
:47:51. > :48:01.the tuck shape very good. He keeps the splashdown. Very good from the
:48:01. > :48:03.
:48:03. > :48:13.Italian. He will not be in middle contention today, but he will be in
:48:13. > :48:16.the future. Jeinkler Aguirre of Cuba, 3.2, he is in the time wrong
:48:16. > :48:26.of the procession at the moment, in which three and a half somersaults
:48:26. > :48:42.
:48:42. > :48:48.Jeinkler Aguirre taking it to the individuals now. He is throwing up a
:48:48. > :48:57.little bit of Splash, which is why we see the 7.5. Not his day-to-day.
:48:57. > :49:07.Now, Tom Daley. Here we go. A little bit of pressure on the arm and
:49:07. > :49:12.wrists. This will be the one. 3.7, sees biggest one. -- his biggest
:49:12. > :49:22.one. With a lot of points. So, wish him well. Four and a half summer
:49:22. > :49:34.
:49:34. > :49:41.faults going forward, with tuck. The done, Tom! We were wondering how he
:49:41. > :49:45.was going to hold up, now he has smashed his biggest dive. That
:49:45. > :49:51.should get it from the judges. It is a little bit low on the water to get
:49:51. > :50:00.more than eight, but than 3.7, that is going to be a big score, pushing
:50:00. > :50:10.90 points. Pressure on the rest of the field. Good, Tom Daley. He has
:50:10. > :50:10.
:50:10. > :50:14.doubled his semi-final school! -- score. It is a fantastic dive, which
:50:14. > :50:24.has given every opportunity, every inkling of being in and around the
:50:24. > :50:38.
:50:38. > :50:44.semi-final, this is even better. Wow, what an absolute superstar. It
:50:44. > :50:50.doesn't get better than this. You're watching the Tom Daley versus Qui Bo
:50:50. > :50:54.show, and Qui Bo is topping whatever Tom does. Tom has nailed his board a
:50:55. > :51:04.half, and Qui Bo has just got the perfect score. That should score
:51:05. > :51:06.
:51:06. > :51:13.away over 100 points, and catch me if you can if he does. 108 points.
:51:13. > :51:23.When we get to the 4.1, we can get over 120 points. On that dive, 108
:51:23. > :51:38.
:51:38. > :51:48.points. It gives them the lead over over Tom Daley. German Sanchez. You
:51:48. > :51:58.can see how much easier he makes it, he has this ability to spin, and
:51:58. > :51:59.
:51:59. > :52:09.spin. Really controlled entry into the water. Only marginally better
:52:09. > :52:26.
:52:26. > :52:36.inroads we expected him to do. He can repair some of the damage done
:52:36. > :52:36.
:52:36. > :52:46.in the previous round. 3.6 it is worth. You don't want to hang
:52:46. > :52:47.
:52:48. > :52:55.around too long in a handstand. is a nice of you from up there. --
:52:55. > :53:05.view. Just seen a little bit of the brilliance of. Slightly odd chink
:53:05. > :53:08.
:53:08. > :53:18.in the lower back, which will cost him. It is one of his better dives.
:53:18. > :53:30.
:53:30. > :53:40.difficulty on this. If he gets 98, he will go ahead of Tom Daley. If
:53:40. > :53:45.
:53:45. > :53:55.he gets 94, he will go ahead of Sanchez. Back 3.5. He fancies it.
:53:55. > :53:56.
:53:56. > :54:02.Still no smiles from his coach. He has been known to make a bit of a
:54:02. > :54:12.mess of it. Heat some gold a week ago, so he is hungry for another
:54:12. > :54:35.
:54:35. > :54:42.renewed the big build up. 3.3, a reverse 3.5, and then he goes on to
:54:42. > :54:47.the big stuff. That is much better from Garcia. My thing he has left
:54:47. > :54:54.himself with a little bit too much to do. Anything can happen diving
:54:54. > :55:00.outdoors. You can see shadows appearing now. Knows exactly where
:55:01. > :55:09.he is. The vertical entry. Will it be enough to close the gap.
:55:09. > :55:15.wouldn't write him off just yet, he has a 3.8, 4.1 to finish with. The
:55:15. > :55:23.4.1 coming in the next round, by the way. David Boudia, currently in
:55:23. > :55:33.second place. Cannot overtake Qui Bo on this. Will have to second --
:55:33. > :55:56.
:55:56. > :56:06.collected like he was last summer. Could have been better. But he is
:56:06. > :56:21.
:56:21. > :56:31.big advantage over David Boudia. Sanchez is only four points behind
:56:31. > :56:38.Tom Daley. Waiting Ivan Garcia to make his move. He has got 30 points
:56:38. > :56:43.to make up, it is a big margin, but we will see. You're not convinced?
:56:43. > :56:49.No, no one is going to score 120. It would be mathematically
:56:50. > :56:59.impossible. Let's concentrate on the action that will unfold in
:57:00. > :57:13.
:57:13. > :57:19.is having a great day. He is only limited by his limited degree of
:57:19. > :57:29.difficulty, if that makes sense? That is going to get him close to
:57:29. > :57:31.
:57:31. > :57:41.90 points. He is out there and doing really well. Thoughts of Leon
:57:41. > :57:55.
:57:55. > :58:05.the way through. This is a back to 0.5 somersaults with 2.5 twists
:58:05. > :58:05.
:58:05. > :58:13.Pike. Little bit scrappy ball start running out of room. He was in for
:58:13. > :58:23.a place. This needed to be good. Helicopter feet, bits Griffi,
:58:23. > :58:33.bending his knees. Looked a bit like a Twigg it as he went in there.
:58:33. > :58:49.
:58:49. > :58:59.That is costly. Chance has gone I proving a point it is high risk.
:58:59. > :59:01.
:59:01. > :59:07.The 3.7, a degree of difficulty. You can see him may be slipping on
:59:07. > :59:12.his suncream. One hand was riding up as he was spinning round. That
:59:12. > :59:22.feels like a punch in the chest when you go in like that. Another
:59:22. > :59:44.
:59:44. > :59:50.person who won't be making the top bit more work. The take-off was OK.
:59:50. > :00:00.Maybe inexperience shining through? His feet a bit too hike will stop
:00:00. > :00:16.
:00:16. > :00:26.nothing he can do. Just tipping It is a bit harsh. Reversed three
:00:26. > :00:26.
:00:26. > :00:36.and a half somersaults with tuck. 3.3 degrees of difficulty. Oh, much
:00:36. > :00:36.
:00:37. > :00:44.more like it! Much, much better. What are dive. -- what are dive. He
:00:44. > :00:51.is coming out here, absolutely no splash. What will the judges give
:00:51. > :01:01.him? I think it is worth 9.5 at least. Yes! Stand, chair, clap your
:01:01. > :01:03.
:01:03. > :01:08.hands. Night .5 -- 9.5 and nine. He will be in contention. This man,
:01:08. > :01:18.however, is in contention certainly. Third place after a round number
:01:18. > :01:20.
:01:20. > :01:26.five. -- round number four. Two more to go. This one might sort out the
:01:26. > :01:32.destiny of the Tom Daley. Back to a half somersaults, two and half
:01:32. > :01:38.twists in the pike position. He needs to execute this to the best of
:01:38. > :01:48.his ability, taking into account the injury problems he has God. -- he
:01:48. > :02:02.
:02:02. > :02:06.semifinals. This is the dive that Tom was awarded three marked on. He
:02:06. > :02:12.squares it up as best you can on the finish, that is probably going to
:02:12. > :02:17.get six, six. Look at the strain on his body. He wants to work on this
:02:17. > :02:27.dive. He hasn't had the chance this season because of injury and
:02:27. > :02:33.illness. Will that cost him medal? 68.4 zero the Tom Daley. If he's
:02:33. > :02:42.going to get a medal, he will have to do much better. Now, this is
:02:42. > :02:48.huge, absolutely massive. 4.1, forward for a half. So much risk
:02:48. > :02:54.attached to it. He has got to make it right. Gold without a shadow of a
:02:54. > :02:59.doubt. Qui Bo just telling the world he's back. He is the only diver that
:03:00. > :03:05.can do this. Everyone else struggles to do this in the tuck position. He
:03:05. > :03:12.is absolutely smashing it. Oh, my goodness me. I don't have the
:03:12. > :03:19.superlatives to describe this. He is going to be miles in front! He
:03:19. > :03:29.doesn't even need his last dive. 110! Hundred ten is pretty darn
:03:29. > :03:45.
:03:45. > :03:49.good. Ninth across-the-board. -- what Tom Daley did and he will know
:03:50. > :03:55.that the door ajar for third place. Reversed three and a half
:03:55. > :04:05.somersaults with tuck, worth 3.3 only, not a big dive but if he does
:04:05. > :04:13.
:04:13. > :04:19.it good, it'll be worth 70 or 80 points. He opens as chest as he goes
:04:19. > :04:25.in. However, that is solid. I would say second favourite of the
:04:25. > :04:32.Mexicans, but he is on fire today. I think that will get him some
:04:32. > :04:42.eights. So, it is not the 90 points which will definitely put him in the
:04:42. > :04:47.
:04:47. > :04:55.mix. On the cusp, he goes above Tom Daley by eight points. So, Qui Bo,
:04:55. > :05:02.Sanchez and Tom Daley. We have more divers to come. Victor Minibaev,
:05:02. > :05:07.back three and a half somersaults with pike. He needs to extricate
:05:07. > :05:16.himself from the region of nine, ten or 11. He will probably move up a
:05:16. > :05:22.couple of places. He left it too late. Pulling the diving at last
:05:22. > :05:27.minute. He doesn't move to far-away from the diving board this time
:05:27. > :05:35.round. That is a good distance giving him the control he needs. He
:05:35. > :05:45.moves his arms to sin, but that is good. 81 is much better. He could be
:05:45. > :05:48.
:05:48. > :05:52.in the top seven with that. Sascha Klein, sixth place. There isn't a
:05:52. > :06:01.lot between third and sixth. Both third and fourth, they're in their
:06:01. > :06:06.whereabouts, but they are not nailing Z dives. 3.3, this dive.
:06:06. > :06:16.Crucial for Sascha Klein and he has pulled it out of the bag. Wow, that
:06:16. > :06:22.is going to be interesting. What a great dive. He is very precise with
:06:22. > :06:31.his dive. Lots of experience. That is going to put him right up there
:06:31. > :06:41.in the top four for sure. It but second! Second at the moment, above
:06:41. > :06:42.
:06:43. > :06:50.Sanchez and Tom Daley. Now, here comes Ivan Garcia, 4.1. If he gets
:06:50. > :07:00.this, he could go up to third place. With this dive, if he gets 106, he
:07:00. > :07:22.
:07:22. > :07:27.will go forth. Even just to make semi-final. It is very good. In the
:07:27. > :07:32.semi-final, he got seven and a half and eight, he could sneak it in
:07:32. > :07:42.here. He moves away so far from the diving board. He still manages
:07:42. > :07:45.
:07:45. > :07:54.inward for and a half, he is clean on the entry. He smashes it. He has
:07:54. > :08:02.nailed his inward. There's my boy, 104.55. Sadly, he goes above Tom
:08:02. > :08:11.Daley. Just above Sanchez. That is six points behind the bronze medal.
:08:11. > :08:21.We have to take into account David Boudia has not had his dive yet. His
:08:21. > :08:29.
:08:29. > :08:35.is a three and a half somersaults seem to be bothered by it all the
:08:35. > :08:42.dive is going on around him. Boudia they're just hanging out, chilling
:08:42. > :08:50.out, and just proving he does it when he needs it. If he gets over 90
:08:50. > :09:00.points, that will give him the business end of the field. We are
:09:00. > :09:00.
:09:01. > :09:08.set to have a good finish. 91.84 David Boudia, that puts him into
:09:08. > :09:14.second, where he was before. We can pretty much anoint Qui Bo as the
:09:14. > :09:23.world champion again. Tom Daley is nine points behind the bronze.
:09:23. > :09:31.That's all. You're shaking your head, Leon. It is 8/2 last round.
:09:31. > :09:40.Big dives in the last round. But we pretty much know he will nail his
:09:40. > :09:48.3.3. And the others will nail their 3.6. It is tough. His other dive
:09:48. > :09:51.will have cost him the medal today. Vadim Kaptu, nearly done. This is
:09:51. > :09:57.his last dive of the competition. Reversed three and a half
:09:57. > :10:04.somersaults with tuck worth 3.3. He would hope maybe to get into the top
:10:04. > :10:09.six. Eighth place going into the final round for Vadim Kaptu. He has
:10:09. > :10:16.nailed all his diets today. Fantastic, six out of six for him.
:10:16. > :10:20.-- he has nailed all his dives today. A lot of big names didn't
:10:21. > :10:29.make it through to the finals, Vadim Kaptu has sneaked in and he has done
:10:29. > :10:36.himself proud today. Good marks. He was fourth in the Olympics. Probably
:10:36. > :10:43.not going to finish as high as that. Oleksandr Bondar, he finishes with
:10:43. > :10:53.3.3. Reversed three and a half somersaults, he was on the cusp of
:10:53. > :10:58.
:10:58. > :11:04.the medals. 3.3 probably not going to take him where he needs to be.
:11:04. > :11:12.Over rotation at the end, he lost it on the fifth round dive. This is the
:11:12. > :11:17.dive we will see from Tom Daley soon. He uses the twist. It is
:11:17. > :11:21.interesting finishing on 3.3 and not doing a good job. All the other
:11:21. > :11:31.athletes have used this dive. You've got to go in all different
:11:31. > :11:31.
:11:31. > :11:40.directions. But some good stuff from Oleksandr Bondar today. Talking
:11:40. > :11:46.about divers we will see more of in the future, Sergey Nazin of Russia.
:11:46. > :11:50.He has not been on form today but did well to make the final. 11th
:11:50. > :11:56.place as he goes into the last round. And, again, the back to an
:11:56. > :12:02.half somersaults, to an half twists, 3.6. What a finish, just showing how
:12:02. > :12:07.good he is. We will be commentating on him for years to come. Good
:12:07. > :12:13.take-off, very neat into the take-off. Great entry into the
:12:13. > :12:23.water. Shame his others were shaky because that is a strong finish.
:12:23. > :12:28.
:12:28. > :12:33.Absolutely, 410.104 that dim -- the Sergey Nazin. This is the
:12:33. > :12:39.19-year-old, Andrei Tierra beanie from Italy, back to an half
:12:39. > :12:49.somersaults, one and a half twists to finish with. He will hope to get
:12:49. > :12:56.
:12:56. > :13:02.this young Italian. The youngest in the final. There is a future for
:13:02. > :13:12.this young man. He needs to add a twist to this. Lots of two and a
:13:12. > :13:21.
:13:21. > :13:28.half somersaults next. We've seen one already so far. He got 451. Bite
:13:28. > :13:33.away down on his semi-final score. Jeinkler Aguirre, storming into the
:13:33. > :13:37.last round. Has he got enough room and enough points to make up too
:13:37. > :13:47.many places here? Back to an half somersaults, two and a half twists,
:13:47. > :13:52.
:13:52. > :13:58.as he goes in, but he was vertical, which is key to persuading the
:13:58. > :14:07.judges to put those scores up. Lots of divers electing to finish up on
:14:07. > :14:15.the twist dive. There is a high degree of difficulty in this.
:14:15. > :14:21.total of 81 exactly. So, our last glimpse of the world's sexiest man,
:14:21. > :14:29.according to a magazine. Tom Daley, stepping up to the plate, stepping
:14:29. > :14:36.onto the board for the last time. He will be happy he got through to the
:14:37. > :14:43.final, and reasonably happy with his showing here. Round five pretty much
:14:43. > :14:53.took away a medal from him. He could consolidate a good finish. A reverse
:14:53. > :15:09.
:15:09. > :15:17.enters the water, his coach at fights, you did fabulous earlier in
:15:17. > :15:25.the week. Feels the water on his back as he goes in. It is a poor
:15:25. > :15:31.finish, he will be disappointed. An expression from his team-mate. What
:15:31. > :15:36.a great job out there today. Preparation with injury and illness.
:15:36. > :15:43.He was pleased to be in the final, said it was the miracle he made it
:15:43. > :15:52.through. Tom Daley can think about and concentrate on the Commonwealth
:15:52. > :16:02.Games in Edinburgh next year. Tom Daley has exactly a year to prepare
:16:02. > :16:10.for that. Here is a class act, pretty much already got the gold
:16:10. > :16:15.medal around his neck. Just to confirm it though, Qui Bo.
:16:15. > :16:20.Astonishing. He would have thought yesterday in the semi-final we
:16:20. > :16:25.would have seen him here like this. He has stamped his authority on the
:16:25. > :16:35.competition. He was shaky in the first round, but now he has not
:16:35. > :16:38.
:16:38. > :16:45.looked back. Two new dives in his routine. Only Matthew Mitcham has
:16:45. > :16:54.scored more than that have been an Olympic final in 2008. Qui Bo, a
:16:54. > :17:04.masterclass today, defending his world title. 15 points more than he
:17:04. > :17:09.
:17:09. > :17:17.got when he got the Olympic silver in London. David Boudia won the
:17:17. > :17:27.gold in London last year. If quite a lot of points if he gets this
:17:27. > :17:37.
:17:37. > :17:47.right. For 2.5 somersaults, three twists. He gets it right. I love
:17:47. > :17:48.
:17:48. > :17:55.the Mexicans. Triple twist... Then you have to find your way into big
:17:55. > :18:01.pike shape. Will that be enough to put pressure on the others and will
:18:01. > :18:06.he stand on the podium? Marks are not confirmed, we have the proviso
:18:06. > :18:16.remarks, which I won't give to you. They have yet to be confirmed. I
:18:16. > :18:16.
:18:16. > :18:23.think he has been done down a bit. The official now. Takes him above
:18:23. > :18:29.Tom Daley. For the time being, into second place. Victor Minibaev,
:18:29. > :18:34.another diver who is a little bit below his best today. Not quite on
:18:34. > :18:44.a par with what he showed us yesterday when he got 480 points.
:18:44. > :18:45.
:18:45. > :18:55.Today, he is not going to get that. He is on 363 now. Back to 0.5
:18:55. > :19:00.
:19:00. > :19:06.somersaults. That is a great finish. Marginally over rotating as he goes
:19:06. > :19:12.into the water. He is someone to watch for the future. He won't win
:19:12. > :19:19.a medal today, but he has done this dive a more difficult than this. He
:19:19. > :19:27.can do a back to 0.5 somersaults with a back twist. It will be in
:19:27. > :19:37.his programme and when it is, he will be tough to beat. A medal
:19:37. > :19:39.
:19:39. > :19:44.contender, Sascha Klein. He can get the silver. Sascha Klein on his 3.6
:19:44. > :19:54.degree of difficulty. Needs to be in the 90s to put pressure on David
:19:54. > :19:56.
:19:56. > :20:03.Boudia. Will he get and 90 points up with that? His coach does not
:20:03. > :20:13.know either. Squeezing into the twist. Just needs the vertical
:20:13. > :20:13.
:20:13. > :20:19.entry. It is going to beat so close. Such Athletic. Marie really does
:20:19. > :20:29.deserve to stand on the podium, but it is going to be tight. Qui Bo is
:20:29. > :20:31.
:20:31. > :20:41.miles in front. Moving the arms end. Waiting for the Scots. -- has
:20:41. > :20:51.
:20:51. > :21:01.to see whether he has got a medal. It is Ivan Garcia and David Boudia
:21:01. > :21:03.
:21:03. > :21:08.still to go. 97 will put him above the Sascha Klein on this 3.8.
:21:08. > :21:14.think he is too far over for a 97. But it is a monumental effort at
:21:14. > :21:21.the end. He probably attacked it a little bit too much. Pops up into
:21:21. > :21:26.the triple twist. Just rotating a little bit over. I wonder what he
:21:26. > :21:36.is going to get. What a climax to the end of this platform
:21:36. > :21:51.
:21:51. > :21:55.competition. What is this going to today. Ivan Garcia just a bit shy.
:21:55. > :22:01.Six points shy of Sascha Klein, a has a medal for definite. Another
:22:01. > :22:06.bronze, by the looks of things. Unless David Boudia fails or is
:22:06. > :22:13.sub-standard on his last dive. To back up the silver medal David
:22:13. > :22:23.Boudia thinks he has a Komotini 72 point 15 on this back, 2.5
:22:23. > :22:26.
:22:26. > :22:35.somersaults, two point five twists. So, Qui Bo the winner. A little bit
:22:35. > :22:41.heavy on the finish. He only needed Sevens, to make it. Might think
:22:41. > :22:47.that it will be enough. Winning the bronze, I am sure. David Boudia
:22:47. > :22:54.getting the silver. Not the best we have seen from David Boudia, but he
:22:54. > :22:57.has done great today. As some people were asking the question
:22:57. > :23:04.could he come back after being Olympic Champions. The answer to
:23:04. > :23:11.that is, yes he can. David Boudia is always solid these days. He was
:23:11. > :23:14.very lucky to make London 2012, but he has done it again. The margin
:23:14. > :23:19.between first and second is enormous. German Sanchez are
:23:19. > :23:29.missing out by about two points in the end. Sascha Klein picked up
:23:29. > :23:44.
:23:44. > :23:52.another bronze medal. These are the I am sure at the Commonwealth Games,
:23:52. > :23:56.we will see a better Tom Daley. A fantastic and brave effort for Tom
:23:56. > :24:04.Daley. The swimming finals continue deceiving. Coverage on the red
:24:04. > :24:12.button at 5pm. One of our best medal hopes, a jazz Carling is on
