:00:42. > :00:46.clue as to where we are today, not right outside Downing Street, but

:00:47. > :00:50.very close, but at Horse Guards Parade in the shadow of Whitehall.

:00:51. > :00:54.240 horses are stabled here and we will have a packed crowd to watch

:00:55. > :00:59.top-class sport because the world's very best riders are here. This is

:01:00. > :01:04.the London leg of the Global Champions Tour, nearly ?120,000

:01:05. > :01:07.available to the winner of this class, 50 riders trying for it. One

:01:08. > :01:13.of them will win. If we're lucky we could see a finish in the jump-off

:01:14. > :01:17.as last year, where w it was held on the edge of Olympic Park and came

:01:18. > :01:22.down to two of Britain's Gold Medal winning riders. It's an enormous

:01:23. > :01:32.course for this pot of gold. Fireworks could begin. Now he makes

:01:33. > :01:37.the turn. He's absolutely flying. That has really set the target.

:01:38. > :01:42.Scott said he would have a go. He's not hanging about. He's gone for it.

:01:43. > :01:47.Oh, not to be. Christian has set the pace. Sit tight and keep the fingers

:01:48. > :01:58.crossed. Nick Skelton, good luck. He's a long way off. He's jumped it.

:01:59. > :02:03.Yes, he's done it! It's not over yesterday by Ben Maher will give it

:02:04. > :02:07.200%. He's quick enough to win it. If he jumps the last, I think he's

:02:08. > :02:14.done it. He has! He's done it for Great Britain. It's a superb British

:02:15. > :02:22.one, two here this afternoon. And Ben Maher is back trying to defend

:02:23. > :02:28.that title. No Nick Skelton because Big Star is out for a year. British

:02:29. > :02:32.showjumping is looking strong. It is an all-star international field.

:02:33. > :02:35.Before we get into the contenders, let's tell you more about the Global

:02:36. > :02:45.Champions Tour, what it is and who's in it.

:02:46. > :02:50.London is one of 14 prestigious stops on the Global Champions Tour,

:02:51. > :02:55.where the world's very best compete for the richest prize in showjumping

:02:56. > :02:59.and the crown of overall champion. The series takes in some of the most

:03:00. > :03:03.glamorous cities in Europe and one stop in China before heading to the

:03:04. > :03:08.final in Doha. Global Champions Tour has been running a number of years

:03:09. > :03:11.now. It's like the ATP Tour of tennis or Formula One. The venues

:03:12. > :03:18.are unique. I think it's really global. It's everywhere in the world

:03:19. > :03:23.almost. We have all the good riders with good horses. Normally they go

:03:24. > :03:31.to quick and fast jump off. We have 28 of the top 30 riders here. You

:03:32. > :03:36.never see that at any other events. COMMENTATOR: He can do it. If he

:03:37. > :03:42.jumps the last, I think he's done it. He has! Ben Maher has delivered

:03:43. > :03:45.for Great Britain. The crowd standing, as so they should be,

:03:46. > :03:50.because that was a world-class performance. After the success of

:03:51. > :03:54.last year's event at Olympic Park, the man who brought it to London is

:03:55. > :04:00.determined for a repeat performance in its spectacular new location. It

:04:01. > :04:03.ticks so many boxes. It's a world-class sporting event. We have

:04:04. > :04:07.international broadcasters, showing London in a fantastic light and more

:04:08. > :04:11.importantly, from a sporting perspective, we're doing what the

:04:12. > :04:16.tour set out to do, bring showjumping to more people, take it

:04:17. > :04:22.out of the traditional equestrian foot prints. When the beach

:04:23. > :04:25.volleyball was there, it was a great atmosphere, and I thought it would

:04:26. > :04:30.be fantastic to have the event. It took a while, but at least we are

:04:31. > :04:35.here. I think Horse Guards Parade, I think it's just perfect. It is

:04:36. > :04:39.fantastic that the Prime Minister can look out his back room window

:04:40. > :04:45.and see the With just event. Three more events to go after this one,

:04:46. > :04:52.it's getting tight at the top. Edwina tops Alexander who has won

:04:53. > :04:55.the overall twice. There are 50 riders gunning for the top prize,

:04:56. > :05:04.but the same name is on everyone's lips. Who do you see as the leading

:05:05. > :05:09.riders in the world? Scot brash. He's number one. Scott's doing

:05:10. > :05:15.fantastic. He's number one for a reason. He's had great success here.

:05:16. > :05:20.He won in Cannes and he's been placed in many of the others. Four

:05:21. > :05:25.more left, we'll see. He will be, of course, very dangerous for us. At

:05:26. > :05:28.home, here in London, for sure, going to perform very, very well.

:05:29. > :05:36.The benefit for the British riders is that they have the full support

:05:37. > :05:40.of the crowd, Ben Maher rose to the occasion last year on Stella. For

:05:41. > :05:45.me, it's been a lucky place to ride in, over the years and in front of a

:05:46. > :05:49.home crowd. And to have, it's just nice for family and friends and all

:05:50. > :05:55.the people who help me along the way to be here. The crowd makes it for

:05:56. > :05:58.me. And the atmosphere when you're riding and out of the ring. They're

:05:59. > :06:03.cheering you on. It makes you want to win more. It's a big boost

:06:04. > :06:11.whenever we ride in the ring in front of our home crowd. Yes,

:06:12. > :06:14.indeed. For the spectators and the riders these are the perfect

:06:15. > :06:18.conditions, late afternoon sunshine and as the name suggests, Horse

:06:19. > :06:22.Guards Parade no stranger to horses. Originally a jousting square for

:06:23. > :06:27.Henry VIII, every year it is the stage for the Queen's birthday

:06:28. > :06:32.parade for Trooping The Colour. Tina Fletcher is with me. Tina was the

:06:33. > :06:35.first woman to win theic stead Derby and a regular member of the British

:06:36. > :06:39.team. How much of a difference has this tour made to the sport? It's

:06:40. > :06:42.the best thing that's happened to showjumping in my lifetime. It's

:06:43. > :06:47.enabled people to see showjumping. It's gone to every major city in the

:06:48. > :06:52.world. The best thing for us riders is it's enabled us to make a living

:06:53. > :06:55.in the ring. We will see riders of different heights, different styles,

:06:56. > :07:00.horse that's are big, horse that's are neat and nippy. What actually

:07:01. > :07:03.makes a good show jumper? There's a lot of qualities that make a good

:07:04. > :07:07.show jumper. The most important thing is their want to actually

:07:08. > :07:11.clear the fence. You've got to have that, more than anything else. You

:07:12. > :07:14.can see a lot of big, scopy horse that's can do it easier than the

:07:15. > :07:18.smaller horses, but if they don't have the want in their heads to want

:07:19. > :07:23.to win, then they won't be good enough. You mention the prize money

:07:24. > :07:28.on offer, how much would a top show jumper be worth these days? How much

:07:29. > :07:33.do you pay for them? A lot of money. These horses behind me, any one of

:07:34. > :07:37.these horses would be worth anything between 1 million and 10 million.

:07:38. > :07:38.Really? Oh, my word! You have an idea of what we're dealing with.

:07:39. > :08:14.Let's look at the standings: So right here official Government

:08:15. > :08:19.buildings and in their shadow, a temporary structure with well over

:08:20. > :08:25.100 horses in it. Amazing. It's quite amazing what they can do. Put

:08:26. > :08:30.a show on wherever and in whichever city around the world. It's quite

:08:31. > :08:37.amazing. It's a really glamorous tour, the Global Champions Tour.

:08:38. > :08:41.Yeah, I mean, what the team have done for showjumping it's really

:08:42. > :08:46.lifted the profile of the sport. He's put it in all these different

:08:47. > :08:53.countries, we're able to shine high, Madrid, London, I mean it's just

:08:54. > :08:59.really is fantastic. And this is Hello Sanctos. This is him. Is he in

:09:00. > :09:05.his prime? Yeah, I'd say a horse's prime in our sport is from ten and

:09:06. > :09:13.13, 14 really. He's 12 now. Yeah, for sure he's in his prime. He won

:09:14. > :09:17.two big Grand Prixes recently. Then last week he helped Great Britain

:09:18. > :09:20.stay in the super league in Dublin. He was clear four in the nation's

:09:21. > :09:25.cup, which helped Britain stay up, which was very important for British

:09:26. > :09:28.showjumping to be in the top league again. Do you think this tour is

:09:29. > :09:31.putting show jumpers in the sort of league of tennis players and

:09:32. > :09:35.golfers, where you're on tour together, the best of you are seeing

:09:36. > :09:38.each other all the time. You have a profile, got good prize money, good

:09:39. > :09:45.sponsors, that it's really lifted the Yeah, definitely sport? . As I

:09:46. > :09:48.said, what they've done for the sport is amazing. It's what the

:09:49. > :09:55.sport needed. Top 30 in the world go to all these shows. Yeah, we compete

:09:56. > :09:58.against each other every week at a different venue throughout Europe

:09:59. > :10:05.for great prize money. It's what the sport was If you needing. Are Andy

:10:06. > :10:15.Murray in this set up, whose Djokovic, Nadal and Federer? Ben

:10:16. > :10:18.Maher, and the other guys, they're the top of the sport. Yeah, they're

:10:19. > :10:27.all fighting against one another each week. But our sport is

:10:28. > :10:30.different in the sense we have a different animal. Obviously, like he

:10:31. > :10:37.can't jump every week. We would swap horses. It's very important to have

:10:38. > :10:40.a top string of horses. Unfortunately, we can't, horses

:10:41. > :10:44.can't talk, so we don't know if they're in top form today or not.

:10:45. > :10:48.That's what makes our sport very unique, I think, anyone can win.

:10:49. > :10:52.It's not always the favourite that wins. You are the Global Champions

:10:53. > :10:57.Tour champion, you are world number one. I remember interviewing you

:10:58. > :11:01.when you were left out of the team at the world equestrian team. You

:11:02. > :11:04.were so cross. Do you remember that anger? Yeah, that's right. How

:11:05. > :11:09.different do you feel now? It's amazing. I have a fantastic team

:11:10. > :11:13.behind me. I have fantastic owners. They then bring fantastic horses and

:11:14. > :11:19.people to look after these top horses. It's a key in our success.

:11:20. > :11:24.Yeah, I mean, growing up, being left out of the team, it only makes you

:11:25. > :11:27.stronger and more determined to want to win and want to be part of the

:11:28. > :11:31.British team and you want to be the best at what you do. Yeah, I don't

:11:32. > :11:36.regret any of those decisions that were done. Because I think that's

:11:37. > :11:39.made me who I am today. Really interesting listening to him because

:11:40. > :11:43.that was just four years ago that he was left out of the team. That's

:11:44. > :11:46.right. His career is escalated. The big thing that's changed it, he's

:11:47. > :11:57.always been a fabulous jockey. You watch him and he's so silky smooth

:11:58. > :12:00.in a jump-off. In the end of 2011, whore the horse was bought for him.

:12:01. > :12:05.They bought more horses after that, he now has fabulous owners. He has

:12:06. > :12:10.an amazing team behind him and basically, he's run with it. He's

:12:11. > :12:13.done it and he's become number one. He's done really He's brave well. .

:12:14. > :12:17.He's not afraid of taking chances. On a practical note, when you travel

:12:18. > :12:21.horses around the world, they have to have a great temperament to do

:12:22. > :12:25.it, how are you doing it? They travel basically in lorries, in

:12:26. > :12:29.horse boxes, all over Europe. The only time we fly horses, if they go

:12:30. > :12:32.to America or some of the Arab countries. They go on the boat, so

:12:33. > :12:36.they travel in the horse box on the ferry and then off to the next

:12:37. > :12:40.place. You don't travel them for too long. Only about eight hours. Then

:12:41. > :12:46.you stable them at night and carry on. Scott said the big difference

:12:47. > :12:50.between tennis and golf is that you have another animal. Men and women

:12:51. > :12:56.also compete on level terms. 50 riders started out. All of them

:12:57. > :13:00.jumped a full size first round. The top 18 of that or all clear rounds

:13:01. > :13:10.more than 18 goes through to the second round. After that, the clear

:13:11. > :13:15.rounds or indeed all those on four faults will go to a jump off and

:13:16. > :13:21.that will decide the winner with a prize of around ?120,000. Let's see

:13:22. > :13:23.what happened in the first round. Our commentary team is Andy Austin

:13:24. > :13:35.and Mike Tucker. This is a high class field that

:13:36. > :13:40.normally come in these competitions. Here is the Olympic team Gold

:13:41. > :13:44.Medallist from the United States on this exciting new, young horse. We

:13:45. > :13:57.were really impressed by this horse. Everyone walked the course, all the

:13:58. > :14:02.experts and riders and trainers and said this was a really huge,

:14:03. > :14:07.technically difficult course. The trouble is, you've got so many of

:14:08. > :14:13.the world's best here, that they are in a different league. Just looking

:14:14. > :14:19.here at qulaur. This is a very exciting, new, interesting horse. We

:14:20. > :14:22.saw it go well attic stead in the King's Cup. Laura slightly

:14:23. > :14:33.rebuilding there. She had to work hard down that combination. Around

:14:34. > :14:37.here, this is a very difficult line. Very wide triple bar, then four

:14:38. > :14:42.strides to a narrow, light fence with the water tray behind it.

:14:43. > :14:49.Didn't cause as many problems as we expected. So around to the last. The

:14:50. > :14:57.time allowed looks generous 84 seconds. She's clear on this

:14:58. > :15:07.exciting horse. She won a Gold Medal in Hong Kong. She has been at the

:15:08. > :15:11.top of the world of showjumping for many years. Based in Warwickshire

:15:12. > :15:18.with Nick Skelton. Skelton part of that London gold medal with this

:15:19. > :15:27.man, Ben Maher. He rode out on triplex, but now he has a superb

:15:28. > :15:30.mayor, Cella. He is currently the world number three. This is a

:15:31. > :15:43.fascinating mayor to watch. This man works very closely with

:15:44. > :15:48.Ben. This mayor gets up in the air like a helicopter. Sometimes Ben has

:15:49. > :15:59.to work hard to get her to jump the back rails of the white fences. --

:16:00. > :16:05.this mare. This line is very interesting. Tight turn to the gate,

:16:06. > :16:10.then sweeping down to the combination. It is downhill. This is

:16:11. > :16:20.where Ben has got to work. He had to really kick. Managed to jump out

:16:21. > :16:24.over the ox over the third element. A very important horse to Ben, part

:16:25. > :16:31.of the team for the world Equestrian games in France in a fortnight.

:16:32. > :16:41.Triplex has been sold to Canada. You weaker, one of his other stars,

:16:42. > :16:45.sadly injured. He is clear and Britain has won through. He is on

:16:46. > :16:50.target to retain the title. It will be a tough one. Fantastic to see Ben

:16:51. > :16:56.getting into the jump off. We saw last year how fast he can go. He has

:16:57. > :17:02.to get through the next round. This is a three round competition. Now

:17:03. > :17:12.the man from Sweden. Individual silver in Hong Kong. European

:17:13. > :17:19.champion one year later. Rolf-Goran Bengtsson, the Iceman from Sweden,

:17:20. > :17:25.riding. He is the man currently leading the Global Champions Tour.

:17:26. > :17:30.It is very competitive, he won in Chantilly, which put him ahead of

:17:31. > :17:34.Edwina Tops-Alexander from Australia. She is here, fighting to

:17:35. > :17:40.try and get back. This is a fairly new house. Another man beginning to

:17:41. > :17:48.build again. This is a constant thing riders, having to rebuild. You

:17:49. > :17:55.can see the tour leader struggling. Inexperienced horses showing helped

:17:56. > :17:59.off the course is. -- showing out of the courses. He has produced great

:18:00. > :18:14.spectacles. This is proving too much for

:18:15. > :18:21.Rolf-Goran. Not able to jump clear on this occasion. But he is the tour

:18:22. > :18:25.leader at the moment. He retires, it will make an interesting situation

:18:26. > :18:32.for the league leaders at the end of the Grand Prix here at Horse Guards

:18:33. > :18:43.. In comes the lady who dropped into second place. She won the tour

:18:44. > :18:52.twice. The overall tour in 2012. She has this big ten-year-old, Ego van

:18:53. > :19:01.Orti, Edwina is managed married to Jan tops. She is the star of their

:19:02. > :19:06.sport. Interesting that fence, that Square oxer is rustic, a very light

:19:07. > :19:11.offence. It has a water tray underneath it. That fence has been

:19:12. > :19:16.used to great effect this week. Townhill, right by the edge of the

:19:17. > :19:20.arena. The going is fantastic. The crowd are very close to the horses

:19:21. > :19:24.and sometimes when there is a jump by the edge of the arena it takes

:19:25. > :19:27.their attention away. It is very interesting because the star is

:19:28. > :19:34.currently at the top of this Global Champions Tour week are going out

:19:35. > :19:38.two fences down for the lady in second, Edwina Tops-Alexander. We

:19:39. > :19:42.have already got 17 players from nine nations, so this competition is

:19:43. > :19:48.very much a live with some of the big names going out. Remember we

:19:49. > :19:52.take a team through to the next round. As a minimum. We could get

:19:53. > :20:00.more because we still have some good ones to come. Watching Edwina coming

:20:01. > :20:05.into the last fence. Brushing the middle. It is towards the edge of

:20:06. > :20:11.the arena, causing a lot of problems. Edwina certainly will not

:20:12. > :20:16.go through to round two, I can guarantee that's now. We could have

:20:17. > :20:22.a new league leader by the end of this very valuable Grand Prix. Over

:20:23. > :20:30.?120,000 goes to the winner. In comes Scott Brash. The overall

:20:31. > :20:33.winner last year. Lord and Lady Pauline Harris and Lord and Lady

:20:34. > :20:51.Kirk owned this horse. Just listening to Tina Fletcher

:20:52. > :20:56.talking about Scott Brash, she has produced a number of forces that he

:20:57. > :21:02.has gone on to write. This unit being the best of them. The skin off

:21:03. > :21:06.the road at the moment. This is the horse we assume he is going to ride

:21:07. > :21:13.at the championships, the World Championships coming up in a few

:21:14. > :21:20.weeks time. Lovely rhythm. Cruising up to the oxer. This is a feature of

:21:21. > :21:29.Scott's riding, he does not interfere with the horses, he lets

:21:30. > :21:35.them go smoothly down to the fences. Effortless scope and ability, those

:21:36. > :21:40.two oxers. Some horses with less jump have struggled there. No

:21:41. > :21:45.problems for this horse at all. A big, wide triple bar. Then a little

:21:46. > :21:50.style with a water tray behind it. It has not cause that much trouble.

:21:51. > :22:00.Round he goes to the last. Can Great Britain have two through to the next

:22:01. > :22:04.round? Ben Maher is through. We have 19 players and still more to jump.

:22:05. > :22:11.This competition is building into another classic. It certainly is.

:22:12. > :22:20.The crowd so excited to see their heroes jump in here. 23 riders went

:22:21. > :22:25.through to the second round. They are walking the course now. Ben

:22:26. > :22:29.Maher coming towards us. Striding out the line so he knows how many

:22:30. > :22:34.strides he will have on his horse as he comes into these multicoloured

:22:35. > :22:38.upright planks. Tina Fletcher is with me. You have walked the course,

:22:39. > :22:44.are you surprised so many went clear the first round? You have got such a

:22:45. > :22:49.high standard, the top authors and top riders in the world. Was the

:22:50. > :22:53.time relevant and is it relevant in terms of the draw for the second

:22:54. > :23:00.round? Fastest riders are the last ones to go, basically. Now we have

:23:01. > :23:09.to go. Same as a whole new cause, another course and it takes a lot

:23:10. > :23:14.out of the horses. How tall are you? I am five foot seven. It is nearly

:23:15. > :23:18.as tall as me, it is a big fence. It is a difficult colour to John. Scott

:23:19. > :23:24.is coming through, we will let him stride out. Are you happy with the

:23:25. > :23:30.horse after the first round? Yes, he jumped very good, I was very

:23:31. > :23:34.pleased. It is the calibre of horses and riders here, the jumping has

:23:35. > :23:40.been very, very good. This is a tough course. With its suit him?

:23:41. > :23:45.Yes, the bigger and harder the better, normally, for him. We will

:23:46. > :23:50.keep out of the way. As the riders come round, they are coming on the

:23:51. > :23:56.line that makes sense to them so they can count in their heads. You

:23:57. > :24:03.will see the riders walking the distances. It is four human metre

:24:04. > :24:06.strides to everyone horse stride. Most are one half strides, you

:24:07. > :24:11.either have to push forward and take a longer one or take a cheque and

:24:12. > :24:13.fit another in. You can see the multicoloured upright they have to

:24:14. > :24:20.jump, they have to come right back on the oxer, almost on springs. With

:24:21. > :24:25.this double you get a nice, wide oxer. They really have to stretch.

:24:26. > :24:33.They have to stretch. Look inside here. You can see how wide that is.

:24:34. > :24:37.For a horse to stretch that distance across... Coming in is the difficult

:24:38. > :24:42.bit. You have to be steady coming in to jump vertical. It is quite short

:24:43. > :24:46.here, which makes it more difficult. Short, you have to wait, they have

:24:47. > :24:49.to have the ability to make it over the back rail. There was a water

:24:50. > :24:54.tray in the first round, have they got one on this course? I think it

:24:55. > :25:00.will be the most influential fence on the course. It is the second

:25:01. > :25:06.last. What happens... Is the water tray wide enough that they might put

:25:07. > :25:09.into it? Not so much that, water tray is for horses, they generally

:25:10. > :25:13.look into them and might touch the top rail across their focus has been

:25:14. > :25:17.taken off the top rail and they have looked into the tray. The colour of

:25:18. > :25:22.this fence is very influential because it is very rustic, not very

:25:23. > :25:26.bright, it will be an easy fence to have down. There is no water in the

:25:27. > :25:32.tray, it is the reflection it creates. Absolutely. It looks to me

:25:33. > :25:40.as if the very last fence has a water tray as well. Two water trays.

:25:41. > :25:47.In a row. This is a hardline, a very long distance between here and next

:25:48. > :25:53.fence, it is... You do not want to be going full pelt. This is a fence

:25:54. > :25:57.recycled from the Olympics, the Abbey Road fence. I will not

:25:58. > :26:08.interrupt them a while he is counting strides. -- interrupt Ben

:26:09. > :26:13.Maher while he is counting strides. Number two is big and wide as well.

:26:14. > :26:21.The first fence is fine, the second is a big oxer, then an unusual

:26:22. > :26:23.line, a short four strives towards the wall that goes into

:26:24. > :26:32.hospitality. The horse will be looking at hospitality. I can see

:26:33. > :26:37.the line you are talking about. The London eye in the background, people

:26:38. > :26:41.sitting at tables, all of these things can distract the horse. You

:26:42. > :26:44.have two have a horse that concentrates well. Sound is an

:26:45. > :26:49.issue. We see a lot of horses wearing ear covers. And a lot of

:26:50. > :26:56.them have earplugs inside those. You can see how close the cloud is. --

:26:57. > :27:00.crowd. When the horses hear the crowd cheering they can be very

:27:01. > :27:07.distracted. The majority of horses wear earplugs. They are this close.

:27:08. > :27:12.They will be along the line where the horses are jumping. We will hand

:27:13. > :27:18.you to the commentary team up there. Mike Tucker and Andy Austin.

:27:19. > :27:23.COMMENTATOR: We are up here waiting for what looks to be a thriller in

:27:24. > :27:28.prospect. 12 nations, the best showjumping nations in the world

:27:29. > :27:33.represented. 23 are here, five from America, free from Germany, two for

:27:34. > :27:39.France, two for Britain. -- three from Germany. They go in reverse

:27:40. > :27:48.order of the time they finished on their clear round.

:27:49. > :28:03.Kent Farrington will be a name to watch for because he is on form.

:28:04. > :28:09.Number 13 is the form rider in recent tours. Very strong

:28:10. > :28:24.Americans. Absolutely. That field of 23 is a high-class

:28:25. > :28:32.field right to the end. Now we will go around the course. Coming away

:28:33. > :28:41.from the entrance already if his 155. -- it is 155. They go into a

:28:42. > :28:46.spooky wall, that is at 160. An awkward turn towards this water

:28:47. > :28:53.tray. Running downhill, write to the edge of the arena, huge oxer. The

:28:54. > :28:58.horses will be distracted by the entrance. Those plaques at 160,

:28:59. > :29:04.maximum height. Back to the combination. A lot of power needed

:29:05. > :29:10.going in. Then a very long stride, two short strides in the middle.

:29:11. > :29:13.Power needed here again. Getting towards the end of the course,

:29:14. > :29:20.swinging back down to this double, where it is all about careful going

:29:21. > :29:26.in. Horses do not see the white rails too well. Then around the

:29:27. > :29:30.corner. This is the double water Chase, five long strides, tremendous

:29:31. > :29:36.power needed over the first one. Really careful going forward over

:29:37. > :29:41.the last four is not -- over the last. There is an electric

:29:42. > :29:45.atmosphere in this arena without a shadow of a doubt. The man in the

:29:46. > :29:55.hot seat has been this Italian course builder. This site has a fall

:29:56. > :30:05.on it. He's used that in part of it. That makes it a lot more difficult.

:30:06. > :30:09.Now the first horse in, Doda -- Athina Onassis de Miranda, the

:30:10. > :30:14.daughter of the great shipping magnate. She loves her showjumping

:30:15. > :30:22.and has very good form in this year's series. She finished fifth in

:30:23. > :30:29.another round. She's currently 25th in the league. Her husband Doda de

:30:30. > :30:32.Miranda represents Brazil. And in fact, she ran a show down in Brazil

:30:33. > :30:37.for the global tour for several years. That's a show that has come

:30:38. > :30:43.back into Europe. Now she is the first, remember, this is the second

:30:44. > :30:46.round and any equality after this round, we go into a final round

:30:47. > :31:08.where time will decide against the clock.

:31:09. > :31:11.Sometimes she starts to go a little too slowly and can get problems with

:31:12. > :31:35.the time allowed. The stretch out in the combination

:31:36. > :31:38.beautifully done there. You see the power and ability,

:31:39. > :31:46.spending a lot of time in the air, that was beautiful.

:31:47. > :31:49.We've seen here, down the hill problems in the past, but this is a

:31:50. > :32:03.lovely round to watch so far. Time allowed is 72 seconds. So she's

:32:04. > :32:11.going to be close. Problems with the time, that's such

:32:12. > :32:16.a shame. One time fault and that will certainly have bush telegraph

:32:17. > :32:20.around the collecting ring. Time fault here, we can't hang around

:32:21. > :32:23.that. Could be very expensive. Big prize money, goes a long way now.

:32:24. > :32:27.That time fault could be From the costly. Start you could see that

:32:28. > :32:31.coming. She got away with the first round going slowly because the time

:32:32. > :32:34.was generous. They've gone for a little bit of a

:32:35. > :32:39.tighter time here. The riders will now have to just move up a gear.

:32:40. > :32:47.Now we go to a nation that is pretty new at this level. Actually trained

:32:48. > :32:53.by Jan Tops. They've gone well here. This is Bassem Hassan Mohammed, who

:32:54. > :33:00.has won the global challenge grauneries this year one in Monaco.

:33:01. > :33:04.This is a lovely mare. Remember Saudi Arabia won the bronze medal in

:33:05. > :33:07.London in the team competition. The Arab nations really getting involved

:33:08. > :33:11.in the sport now. They have certainly shown what they can do

:33:12. > :33:18.here over the three days in Horse Guards Parade.

:33:19. > :33:26.This is a gorgeous horse. Spends time in the air, floats off the

:33:27. > :33:30.ground. Seems to have unlimited scope and ability but you see there,

:33:31. > :33:32.able to shorten up over those two vert culls as well.

:33:33. > :33:44.Absolute dream horse. -- verticals. These two work well as

:33:45. > :33:50.a partnership. Oh, just that hanging in the air,

:33:51. > :33:59.just for a split second. That is a big fence coming out of that double.

:34:00. > :34:03.And again. Well, a lot of power needed. It's all fallen apart at the

:34:04. > :34:14.end of the course. Yes, time fault as well.

:34:15. > :34:35.And this Horse Guards Parade bathed in sunshine, capacity crowd. And

:34:36. > :34:39.they really are seeing something very special in the showjumping

:34:40. > :34:50.world with the high-class field we have in the second round. Now

:34:51. > :34:58.30-year-old Tiffany Foster from Canada.

:34:59. > :35:04.Tiffany ranked 45th at the moment. Hasn't jumped in too many of these

:35:05. > :35:09.rounds, but she's impressed us here. One of the last was in Holland. She

:35:10. > :35:17.was sixth. This horse was ridden and is a real

:35:18. > :35:27.world-class horse. Huge scope. Very rideable.

:35:28. > :35:33.Very interesting those planks have not caused the problems, the pink

:35:34. > :35:46.planks on the top seem to get the horse's attention.

:35:47. > :35:52.This round is tougher than the first. Quite a few clear rounds,

:35:53. > :35:59.probably two or three more than we really wanted. But this is bigger.

:36:00. > :36:16.The time is tighter. It's starting to take its toll already.

:36:17. > :36:22.Just three gone so far, and already you can see it's a tough course.

:36:23. > :36:27.Tina, you said to me, we won't get any clear rounds. It's a big course.

:36:28. > :36:30.The horses are tired. It takes its toll. Can you see the first few

:36:31. > :36:38.horses that there have been. They've tired at the end of the course.

:36:39. > :36:41.Those are the parallel They come fences. Around and they look at the

:36:42. > :36:44.screen because they don't have long to walk it. You are constantly

:36:45. > :36:49.having to memorise new courses. Yes, you are. That comes with the job.

:36:50. > :36:53.They do their job pretty well so far.

:36:54. > :37:00.COMMENTATOR: Here's a lady who does it very well. One of the most

:37:01. > :37:03.stylish lady riders in the world 43-year-old Luciana Diniz born in

:37:04. > :37:13.bra distil, came over to Europe. She's really the centre of world

:37:14. > :37:18.showjumping, if one's absolutely honest. She's now very successful in

:37:19. > :37:23.these global tour championships. She was fifth in Hamburg. Second in

:37:24. > :37:44.Cannes. Fitness plays a part here. If these

:37:45. > :37:47.horses have been going around the first round with the turbo on red,

:37:48. > :37:53.the engine is going to blow up. The horses are just not going to last.

:37:54. > :38:01.We need horses to jump the big fences, just a bit within

:38:02. > :38:05.themselves. This horse appearing to be comfortable at the moment, this

:38:06. > :38:16.is one of the big tests. Very easy there. We will see our first clear

:38:17. > :38:18.in this round. No, that big one again. It's been causing problems

:38:19. > :38:33.all show. Athina Onassis de Miranda and then

:38:34. > :38:39.the four faults for Luciana Diniz, the top two scores at the moment,

:38:40. > :38:43.with the first four gone. That fence there, right by the edge

:38:44. > :38:51.of the arena, very light touch. That's all it takes. The water tray

:38:52. > :38:55.distracting the horses slightly. I think it's more to do with the

:38:56. > :38:58.colour of the poles being rustic. Here's the first of the five

:38:59. > :39:04.Americans, the Olympic team Gold Medallist of Hong Kong, Laura Kraut.

:39:05. > :39:14.She won that with a great horse, Cedric.

:39:15. > :39:19.Nick Skelton's partner of course. Great to see this stylish American

:39:20. > :39:23.here in Europe. She has a very good record in the Global Champions Tour.

:39:24. > :39:33.This is a new horse. Only a ten-year-old. It's a mare with huge

:39:34. > :39:36.ability. Laura really beginning to build up a fantastic relationship

:39:37. > :39:45.with this horse. You can see she can ride forward to the fences, trust

:39:46. > :39:48.her to be careful. Backing up beautifully to jump that very light

:39:49. > :39:57.plank in the middle of the combination. Still waiting for that

:39:58. > :40:02.first clear. We saw so many clears in the first round that we perhaps

:40:03. > :40:06.didn't expect and now this course has gone up even more difficult.

:40:07. > :40:11.It's quite interesting you say that Andy, because John Dhoni is the

:40:12. > :40:16.president of the ground jury here. He of course, was a course designer

:40:17. > :40:20.at the very highest level. He was amazed how testing these courses

:40:21. > :40:26.were and how many clears we had, but that young horse that we really

:40:27. > :40:31.thought was exciting is proving again, what a star he's going to be.

:40:32. > :40:37.What a round! Laura Kraut gives us the first clear round for the United

:40:38. > :40:42.States of America. This horse is turning into a big jumping Grand

:40:43. > :40:45.Prix horse. Every time we see this horse it gets better and better,

:40:46. > :40:50.fabulous round. The Americans on fire at the moment. I movement. Say

:40:51. > :40:58.they look a very good bet for the world equestrian games coming up

:40:59. > :41:03.shortly. Coverage will be for all the Olympic disciplines on the BBC.

:41:04. > :41:09.We turn to the first of the German riders, Hans-Dieter Dreher. This

:41:10. > :41:14.horse has won World Cups in Bordeaux and elsewhere too. A lot of ability

:41:15. > :41:21.this horse. Hans-Dieter Dreher has become one of the riders that the

:41:22. > :41:26.team manager uses often in their nations cups. Germany not quite as

:41:27. > :41:31.invincible as they were. No. They used to be winning absolutely

:41:32. > :41:35.everything. Not nowadays. But this horse. You just have to watch him in

:41:36. > :41:42.front of the fences. It's scary at times. Because he's like a cat when

:41:43. > :41:45.he jumps, but he has an explosive gallop at the fences, which is quite

:41:46. > :41:49.strange to watch. Two or three strides away. Suddenly he

:41:50. > :41:55.accelerates there. Then he throws himself in the air. Must be a

:41:56. > :42:00.strange feeling to sit on him, but can you see there, incredible

:42:01. > :42:08.ability as well. He's going to need it to jump this fence.

:42:09. > :42:13.Did one of his strange leaps but he left it up. He's We've got through.

:42:14. > :42:19.A jump-off for the 148,000 euro first prize. One for America, one

:42:20. > :42:26.for Germany. Of course, a lot more to come and challenge. So often,

:42:27. > :42:31.when you get one clear round, more come.

:42:32. > :42:35.It's like waiting for a bus. That's great to see. Hans-Dieter Dreher is

:42:36. > :42:40.always exciting and he will go for it.

:42:41. > :42:47.The world of showjumping has gone some very, very classy lady riders

:42:48. > :42:54.and here is one of the best. Beezie Madden is on Simon, 15 years old

:42:55. > :42:59.now. This lady has won world cups. She's won two Olympic golds,

:43:00. > :43:03.individual world silver and, of course, the First Lady rider to win

:43:04. > :43:10.the King George V Gold Cup attic stead just two weeks -- at Hickstead

:43:11. > :43:18.two weeks We're at ago. It again. It's all in the timing. No, she is a

:43:19. > :43:22.fantastic rider to watch. We have seen Laura Kraut, another American,

:43:23. > :43:26.beautiful, stylish riders. They always flow forward. Their style is

:43:27. > :43:37.worth watching to try and copy. That was a very uncharacteristic

:43:38. > :43:41.mistake from Simon. He's a very experienced horse. As you say, been

:43:42. > :43:49.to championships and that was a bad mistake.

:43:50. > :43:54.She's actually not long come back from quite a nasty fall which had

:43:55. > :43:58.her out of action for a while. Her husband is chairman of the

:43:59. > :44:04.international discipline, great manager of super horses. But she's

:44:05. > :44:11.not going to win the London round of the Global Champions Tour.

:44:12. > :44:14.The course, although we've had two clear rounds, continuing to cause

:44:15. > :44:17.jute a if you problems. The front rail coming off. Something

:44:18. > :44:25.interesting I want to show you, in the far corner is Ben Maher warming

:44:26. > :44:29.up, the mare he rides wears a black nose blanket he calls it. What is

:44:30. > :44:33.that and why would you have one? You put one on when a horse shakes its

:44:34. > :44:37.head a bit. With her, she's always jumped in it. She's always jumped

:44:38. > :44:41.well in it. He says, well, if it's not broken, don't change it. That's

:44:42. > :44:44.why she has it. Probably didn't give you the clearest shot there. You'll

:44:45. > :44:52.see what we mean when she goes in the ring. COMMENTATOR: The world of

:44:53. > :44:56.showjumping has some very exciting youngsters. We have World

:44:57. > :45:03.Championship potential in Britain. Here is Belgian's, Constant van

:45:04. > :45:07.Paesschen. His father has won Olympic and world bronze. A very

:45:08. > :45:12.good trainer now and this young man is already hitting the high spots.

:45:13. > :45:19.Riding Citizenguard Cadjanine Z. He is 20 years old. Lucky going into

:45:20. > :45:23.the combination. His luck did not hold when he came out. This young

:45:24. > :45:31.lad is making a big name for himself, a very famous equestrian

:45:32. > :45:37.family is from. His father won a lot of international classes. You can

:45:38. > :45:45.see he is getting quicker. The money down the line will be decided on

:45:46. > :45:56.time. He has got it. Two clear rounds. One on one time penalty and

:45:57. > :46:03.on the second, four. Laura Kraut of the USA is definitely into the jump.

:46:04. > :46:05.Her mare is a little inexperienced. It is her first season jumping in

:46:06. > :46:07.the bigger classes, she has It is her first season jumping in

:46:08. > :46:11.the bigger classes, been coming on slowly but I am proud of her today.

:46:12. > :46:16.What will be your policy in the jump off, steady clear or put your foot

:46:17. > :46:21.on the gas? It will depend how many double clears there are. I will

:46:22. > :46:25.probably get her around with a clear round and put pressure on the

:46:26. > :46:30.others. Fantastic job, I look forward to seeing you in the jump

:46:31. > :46:33.off. We will watch your team-mate. COMMENTATOR: The order for the jump

:46:34. > :46:37.off will be the same order they are going in now according to the clear

:46:38. > :46:42.rounds. Here is another that could join her from America, 33-year-old

:46:43. > :46:50.Kent Farrington. Previous winner of the King George V Gold cup at the

:46:51. > :46:56.International horse show. He looked in very good form riding this horse

:46:57. > :46:57.at the Aachen Grand Prix. One of the very big winners on the American

:46:58. > :47:08.circuit now. Kent is turning into one of the

:47:09. > :47:13.world's superstars, he is one of those riders who can ride a number

:47:14. > :47:19.of different horses. He has got great strength. He says he can rest

:47:20. > :47:24.his horses. He has hit a fence. It is a shame. We were not going to see

:47:25. > :47:34.him in the jump off. He is an absolute flying machine against the

:47:35. > :47:38.clock. That's oxer in the middle. The man ranked five in the world,

:47:39. > :47:46.higher than he has ever been before in the world rankings, as our guests

:47:47. > :47:50.enjoyed a wonderful showjumping. That was Bruce Springsteen. His

:47:51. > :47:56.daughter has been jumping here. She has been in tremendous form. She is

:47:57. > :48:04.in the winning American team, they won in Dublin last weekend. Constant

:48:05. > :48:08.van Paesschen is a little quicker than Kent Farrington as far as the

:48:09. > :48:12.four faults are concerned. Still two clear rounds, editor Drayer and

:48:13. > :48:38.Laura Kraut. -- editor it will always be a good point if

:48:39. > :48:48.you have been in Jan Topps stables. The Global Champions Tour went to

:48:49. > :48:54.Shanghai for the first time will stop Daniel Deusser been over there

:48:55. > :48:58.and was in the money in the league. Fascinating horse to watch, very

:48:59. > :49:03.long in his body. Daniel is very tall himself, well over six foot.

:49:04. > :49:11.The horses just a little slow in his action. He is only nine years old.

:49:12. > :49:17.Just coming up to this level, still a bit green. This is a horse that is

:49:18. > :49:22.going to definitely jump a good few Grand Prix is in his time. He's

:49:23. > :49:29.clear rounds are not coming to thick and fast. We saw so many in first

:49:30. > :49:37.round, just two at the moment. Ranked eighth in the league at the

:49:38. > :49:49.moment. Daniel Deusser with one fence down. For Germany. One of our

:49:50. > :49:56.two British challengers is coming in next. Daniel Deusser just a bit

:49:57. > :50:03.disappointed, the horse showed a bit of inexperienced uphill to the oxer,

:50:04. > :50:13.did not get the width. Just held his breath. These fences are absolutely

:50:14. > :50:19.huge, 160, 170 wide, that is as big as you can build that Grand Prix

:50:20. > :50:29.level. The one the crowd are waiting for is Ben Maher. Jane Clark's super

:50:30. > :50:35.mare. Clark was one of the owners for the American showjumping team.

:50:36. > :50:42.After the London Olympics she decided... There she is... Jane

:50:43. > :50:49.decided she loved the way that Ben Road, so she has given someone

:50:50. > :50:54.before horses, including this superb grey for him to ride. It has taken

:50:55. > :50:58.him to the world number one, first British rider to be the worlds

:50:59. > :51:03.number one in. At the end of last year. He has dropped down to third,

:51:04. > :51:08.but still with an important job to do here. Did a very important job in

:51:09. > :51:11.Dublin where he helped Great Britain to stay in the senior nation 's

:51:12. > :51:20.league. And the world Equestrian games around the corner. This is the

:51:21. > :51:26.one he wants now. One tricky moment in the first round. Coming out of

:51:27. > :51:31.the combination. Two verticals here. A very different combination. Proved

:51:32. > :51:38.to be a problem. Needs to stretch here. That is just the Achilles heel

:51:39. > :51:46.with this mare sometimes. You see her struggle with those boxers.

:51:47. > :51:48.Think back to when he was part of the European gold medal team and

:51:49. > :51:58.where he finished individually, Silver. It was a similar box that

:51:59. > :52:06.was the downfall. Early oxs. -- early oxers. We did not want to see

:52:07. > :52:11.them going out. Scott watching with interest. Then goes out, he will not

:52:12. > :52:16.retain his London title which he won in sensational style last year. Of

:52:17. > :52:22.course, very important job for Ben around the corner, the world title

:52:23. > :52:25.at stake and world team title. You can see the oxer is a very steep

:52:26. > :52:32.incline towards the end of the arena. It is a huge fence. If Cella

:52:33. > :52:35.does not have the right rhythm and momentum she can sometimes do that.

:52:36. > :52:42.She really paddled into it. What a shame. Ben Maher was Mac four fault

:52:43. > :52:50.puts him in sixth place. A long way to go. The placings will be done on

:52:51. > :52:59.their time. Constant van Paesschen is the fastest four fault at the

:53:00. > :53:03.moment. From another famous jumping family, his father jumped for the

:53:04. > :53:19.Netherlands on many an occasion at top level. This young man part of

:53:20. > :53:23.the silver medal team in London. 30 has been used extensively for

:53:24. > :53:35.breeding in Holland. You can see his not the easiest to ride. -- Verdi.

:53:36. > :53:44.Very talented. For a big horse, he was agile there. He made that oxer

:53:45. > :53:50.look so easy, that is the power you need at this level. A true

:53:51. > :53:55.championship horse, this one. He is up to 12th in the world. Part of the

:53:56. > :53:59.Silver medal team for the Netherlands in London. Behind Great

:54:00. > :54:06.Britain in the team competition. Of course, he has been a winner of one

:54:07. > :54:16.of the major Grand Prix is on this circuit in Madrid, when he beat

:54:17. > :54:18.Henning and Schroeder. He makes it three, one for America, one for

:54:19. > :54:26.Germany and one for Holland. I am amazed that horse had the

:54:27. > :54:31.energy to have a buck after the last. He is an absolutely fabulous

:54:32. > :54:36.horse. He rides him so well, he is so light, he has been a great horse

:54:37. > :54:40.for him. He said as Ben went in on Cella, she will do well to jump this

:54:41. > :54:44.clear. She did not look on form today, she was sticky through the

:54:45. > :54:48.combination on the first round. Then had to work really hard, she was not

:54:49. > :54:54.on form, not going as well as she can. There is a break before the

:54:55. > :54:57.next round. Rob... I will grab a word with the team manager of the

:54:58. > :55:01.British team. He will head off to the world Equestrian games in

:55:02. > :55:10.Normandy in a couple of weeks. I know you have Scott coming on, he

:55:11. > :55:14.will be riding hello Santos. This is pretty key. Our last show before the

:55:15. > :55:21.world games. Not what we wanted with Ben. Finished on the inside line,

:55:22. > :55:23.got close, jumped too high. He thinks he should have gone five,

:55:24. > :55:29.that is always the way. thinks he should have gone five,

:55:30. > :55:34.that As far as the British team are concerned, a couple of names in

:55:35. > :55:41.there are new. Four Young ones and one experienced. We have not picked

:55:42. > :55:49.the final four, we will see how we go. We promised you stars, they are

:55:50. > :55:56.coming thick and fast. This man, now 50, has been world number one. He

:55:57. > :56:12.has won Olympic olds. His first in Barcelona in 1992. He has never won

:56:13. > :56:18.this global two league, he has been second to Edwina Tops-Alexander in

:56:19. > :56:24.2011. The years riding as well as ever. One thing we do need in this

:56:25. > :56:34.round is power. This is a power horse. A real big jumper. And that

:56:35. > :56:41.is the fence that if you do not have the scope and power you find it

:56:42. > :56:48.really difficult. Just balancing. Getting the hocks underneath. Jumped

:56:49. > :56:53.to the right, nearly took the wing out. He is living dangerously there.

:56:54. > :57:02.Germany, remember, with one clear round already. The great Beerbaum is

:57:03. > :57:10.through to the next round. Germany with two, America with one and the

:57:11. > :57:16.Dutch with one. It is certainly building. My word this man is riding

:57:17. > :57:21.so well. He is into his fifties, Beerbaum, but keeps himself lean and

:57:22. > :57:27.trim, superfit. He is so focused and hungry as ever. Watch him work here.

:57:28. > :57:31.He made it happen. He is a strong, physical rider when he needs to be.

:57:32. > :57:40.This big horse takes a lot of holding together. A good round from

:57:41. > :57:46.him. Well, all British hopes pinned on our next rider in the man who won

:57:47. > :58:05.the overall lead in Joe Hart last year. -- the overall lead in Doha.

:58:06. > :58:19.It is the great Scott Brash. This is a crucial round. If that jump over

:58:20. > :58:28.the wall is anything to go by, let's keep our fingers crossed. He used a

:58:29. > :58:44.lot of pace to come down to that oxer.

:58:45. > :58:57.That rattle, let's hope it has got Hello Sanctos's attention. A little

:58:58. > :59:09.strong down to the double. Two fences to go.

:59:10. > :59:19.Yes! He has done it, he has done it. So many people holding their

:59:20. > :59:27.breath. Fingers crossed. But this man, he is so good, Scott Brash.

:59:28. > :59:33.Road absolutely at his best. Of course, he has already won in

:59:34. > :59:39.Cannes. Just look at this combination. Sorry to interrupt, he

:59:40. > :59:47.just had a little tricky moment. He made up a lot of ground. Rob is

:59:48. > :59:53.riding every fence with him. Scott Brash thrives under pressure, he is

:59:54. > :00:03.the Iceman and he showed it there. 67 .11 is his time.

:00:04. > :00:11.Five clears now. Now it's for Sweden, the one

:00:12. > :00:15.representative of Sweden, Henrik von Eckermann, a pupil of Ludger

:00:16. > :00:21.Beerbaum. He is such a good trainer these days. Three or four of the

:00:22. > :00:24.German team are trained and actually stable with him, as indeed does this

:00:25. > :00:35.man. He's won a bronze medal in the

:00:36. > :00:39.Europeans last year for Sweden. Very tall epted. Oh, it's gone. --

:00:40. > :00:43.talented. What a late-falling pole.. He's lucky in the first round with

:00:44. > :00:48.the combination. No luck there. He hit that quite hard. For a second it

:00:49. > :00:55.looked like it was going to stay. This is where the horses if they're

:00:56. > :01:05.struggling at all, not comfortable, this is too big, too difficult. It's

:01:06. > :01:09.really sorting them out. The class combinations are now starting to

:01:10. > :01:17.come through. Henrik von Eckermann has been in very good form on the

:01:18. > :01:22.Global Champions Tour. He was second recently. He was one of the favoured

:01:23. > :01:31.competitors in this London round. But out he goes with 12 faults. Just

:01:32. > :01:39.having another look there, going into the combination. Things just

:01:40. > :01:46.starting to unravel, the pressure taking its toll. It's slightly

:01:47. > :01:50.downhill, using the gradient. The horse is looking at the bushes in

:01:51. > :01:54.the middle of it. There are the warm-up facilities. We

:01:55. > :01:58.come back into the ring with the one Japanese entries. Good to see this

:01:59. > :02:06.man. He's been their leading rider for a number of years now, Taizo

:02:07. > :02:13.Sugitani. This is a 15-year-old horse. He's one of a number of

:02:14. > :02:18.riders - whoa, he was lucky to stay in the saddle then, my word. That

:02:19. > :02:23.was entertaining. Something different, we don't normally see at

:02:24. > :02:27.this level. He has no stir ups, he's carrying on. We won't get any bonus

:02:28. > :02:33.points for staying on. Should have done. He's certainly won the best

:02:34. > :02:39.prize for entertainment so far. The Japanese really upping their game, a

:02:40. > :02:43.lot of them in showjumping and eventing based in Europe to get

:02:44. > :02:54.ready for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. Japan also have the Asian

:02:55. > :02:59.Games coming up shortly. This is a big warm-up for those competitions,

:03:00. > :03:04.in Korea actually in September. This little horse has been a great

:03:05. > :03:10.servient. He's just found it hard going in there. We've seen plenty of

:03:11. > :03:12.other combinations. This is much bigger, tougher course than the

:03:13. > :03:23.other. CLARE BALDING: The cricket score in

:03:24. > :03:29.terms of faults, but top marks for recovery there. That was amazing

:03:30. > :03:32.stuff. Ben mare alongside me -- Ben Maher alongside me, no jump off for

:03:33. > :03:37.you. No, not today. I had to work hard in the first round. She felt

:03:38. > :03:42.easier in the second round there, but she jumped a little to the left

:03:43. > :03:47.out of the treble combination. That meant that the distance came short

:03:48. > :03:52.for me. I tried to correct and just the hill, the gradient caught me.

:03:53. > :03:56.She tried hard to jump it, but it wasn't to be. Do you stay and

:03:57. > :04:00.support Scott? Absolutely, I'm going to make sure my horse is good. She's

:04:01. > :04:05.just walking off, she gets ice and cooled down then I watch the July

:04:06. > :04:13.of-off. Thanks -- Jump-off. Thanks Ben.

:04:14. > :04:18.COMMENTATOR: The French star now Kevin has been the world's number

:04:19. > :04:26.one rider for many years. He won the Paris round under the beautiful

:04:27. > :04:40.arena under the Eiffel Tower. He's a man bang in form. Kevin Staut with

:04:41. > :04:48.Estoy Aqui de Muze, a ten-year-old mare. She always looks as though

:04:49. > :04:52.she's a bit grumpy. Tail is swishing an ears back. That untidiness

:04:53. > :04:57.catching her out there. She always goes around the ring the same way.

:04:58. > :05:03.Very scopy, very talented. When they don't concentrate and they just get

:05:04. > :05:07.a little bit annoyed with the job, they can sometimes have a silly

:05:08. > :05:15.fence. Kevin quickening up here, a lot of prize money at stake. That

:05:16. > :05:23.last one will probably put him out of the money, I would think.

:05:24. > :05:27.Eight for the French champion, former European champion and he's

:05:28. > :05:32.been world number one for many occasions in the last few years.

:05:33. > :05:37.Let's have another look. Just swishing the tail, ears back, a

:05:38. > :05:43.little untidy. Didn't concentrate at all out of the combination, which is

:05:44. > :05:59.really frustrating. Hit it quite hard. Now Qatar. They really are

:06:00. > :06:13.becoming a force to be reckoned with.

:06:14. > :06:19.It's all very well spending money on world-class horses, but you have to

:06:20. > :06:23.train the riders to do so. My word, these riders lock at home with these

:06:24. > :06:27.horses. -- look. They say good horses make good riders and these

:06:28. > :06:36.lads they're very privileged to ride some of the world's best. This is a

:06:37. > :06:39.horse called Whitaker. An 11-year-old by Clinton, fourth in

:06:40. > :06:43.the Olympics in Athens. It's interesting because they rang the

:06:44. > :06:47.bell to tell him to stop and he kept going because the middle part of the

:06:48. > :06:51.combination was down. I'm not sure how the judges will react to that.

:06:52. > :06:57.But he should actually have pulled up when they rang the bell.

:06:58. > :07:03.It is possible they could eliminate him, I think. It depends how they

:07:04. > :07:09.judge it. If the course is with the fence down, you are allowed to keep

:07:10. > :07:14.going. They did ring the bell. Well, we'll be interested to hear the

:07:15. > :07:19.result of that. CLARE BALDING: We'll come back for confirmation of that.

:07:20. > :07:23.Scott Brash is fifth in the jump-off. Living dangerously there,

:07:24. > :07:28.but clearment Yeah, a rub coming out of the combination there, but luck

:07:29. > :07:34.on our side today. You are a guy who just loves pressure, don't you?

:07:35. > :07:37.Well, I mean, I do, I think it brings out the best in you. You want

:07:38. > :07:40.to try harder. You really want to win. That brings out the best in

:07:41. > :07:49.you, yeah. You get the feel for the horse as soon as you get on them,

:07:50. > :07:52.how is Hello Sanctos feeling? Really good. He's jumping great. It's a

:07:53. > :07:57.really tough course. I can't complain. He feels really good. You

:07:58. > :08:02.aren't allowed to walk the jump-off course, you study a -- study a map,

:08:03. > :08:06.do you? I always have a sneaky peak as I walk the second round, just in

:08:07. > :08:10.case we were in the jump-off. I know where we're going and know my plan,

:08:11. > :08:14.what I'm doing. I imagine your plan will be to go for it from the

:08:15. > :08:18.beginning? Yeah, well, try and win. Lucky, I'm near the end to go, so I

:08:19. > :08:20.can watch the others and see what I have to do. Lovely, thanks Scott.

:08:21. > :08:26.Good luck. COMMENTATOR: There we are, five

:08:27. > :08:32.clear rounds at the moment. Now it is McLain Ward from the United

:08:33. > :08:42.States of America. Twice Olympic team Gold Medallist with a great

:08:43. > :08:45.mare. They just gave four faults for the priests rider. He wasn't --

:08:46. > :08:49.previous rider. He wasn't eliminated. Not many horses jumped

:08:50. > :08:58.the big class yesterday and will last the trip in this three-rounder.

:08:59. > :09:02.Roth schild jumped well actually. Lazy fence in the middle of the

:09:03. > :09:06.combination. That's one big danger. Some of the riders that are clear

:09:07. > :09:10.will be pleased not to see McLain Ward in the jump off, because he is

:09:11. > :09:15.a serious competitor. Absolutely. Four it is for McLain Ward, who was

:09:16. > :09:19.part of the American win in the nations cup. American winning

:09:20. > :09:23.back-to-back nations cups and then in Dublin a week ago. They are on

:09:24. > :09:26.form. CLARE BALDING: Such a mean looking horse with his ears back an

:09:27. > :09:30.everything, but very willing. The one fence down means they will not

:09:31. > :09:33.be in the jump-off. We assume there were five, but Tina has been out

:09:34. > :09:41.hunting around getting the news, what have you heard? Laura has had

:09:42. > :09:46.to pull out. Her horse pulled a shoe off and it's a fraction sore. He's a

:09:47. > :09:52.lovely young horse, so she's decided to call it a day. Laura Kraut will

:09:53. > :09:56.not jump in the jump-off. COMMENTATOR: That will be

:09:57. > :10:00.disappointment for Laura. But a horse with an exciting future. Now

:10:01. > :10:05.we come to another Frenchman in flying form, Patrice Delaveau. He

:10:06. > :10:12.has a team of horses, riding better than he ever has done. He's quite a

:10:13. > :10:16.senior French rider these days. Should he get through - and he won't

:10:17. > :10:25.- he would have been one of the dangers against the clock. Fences

:10:26. > :10:32.coming all over the course. The middle part of the combination very

:10:33. > :10:37.short. You can come up there on five or six strides. That's the one that

:10:38. > :10:48.Ben Maher had. It's a tough course now. No question about it. It's

:10:49. > :10:53.really sorted them out. Yes, it has. It really has been a test of what

:10:54. > :10:58.showjumping is all about - balance, rhythm, power and of course, the

:10:59. > :11:07.speed to come with the jump-off. That one error for Patrice Delaveau.

:11:08. > :11:13.They haven't really shown their best form here, but don't disregard the

:11:14. > :11:20.French with those world equestrian Games coming up.

:11:21. > :11:25.The middle part of combination, very light plank, planks always come off

:11:26. > :11:28.more easily. They're on flat cups. Something in French there that we

:11:29. > :11:35.probably don't understand, but he wasn't too happy with that.

:11:36. > :11:39.We learn now just four through to the jump-off with that withdrawal of

:11:40. > :11:49.Laura Kraut. America will two still to come. Here is 20-year-old

:11:50. > :11:55.Katherine Dinan. She's been competing both sides of the Atlantic

:11:56. > :11:59.actually, but again, very capable. Katie Prudent, one of the top

:12:00. > :12:03.international ride frerz America, her God-mum and trainer. She really

:12:04. > :12:08.has a prospect here, that's for sure.

:12:09. > :12:14.This horse has got springs built into the back legs. Flying up into

:12:15. > :12:21.the air. Very small horse, lovely action. Almost like a big pony.

:12:22. > :12:28.Going to need to motor on up the hill after this combination to jump

:12:29. > :12:32.the next. Using a bit of pace, there's the ability. That's

:12:33. > :12:43.fabulous. These horses don't have to be big to have power.

:12:44. > :12:47.We've seen some of the senior American stars, but is it going to

:12:48. > :12:56.be the juniors that will carry the flag for them? Oh, it's going to be

:12:57. > :13:06.this one, 20-year-old Katherine Dinan shows what she's made of. That

:13:07. > :13:11.was a brilliant round. Some very exciting young riders. The American

:13:12. > :13:14.team manager was a great rider but my word, he has some prospects.

:13:15. > :13:20.Lovely to watch because it was running and jumping, using pace and

:13:21. > :13:24.power and pinging into the air. Never really looked as though it was

:13:25. > :13:28.going to have a fence down. A lovely combination, those two. Giving the

:13:29. > :13:33.horse a well deserved pat. She might be young, but she looks very capable

:13:34. > :13:38.of putting in a speedy round. Yeah, she will certainly have a go and

:13:39. > :13:46.gallop at the fences. Two to go. One for Brazil and another from America.

:13:47. > :13:51.This is Doda de Miranda. This is a man whose been at the top of

:13:52. > :13:57.Brazilian sport, won a team bronze medal in Atlanta in 1996. He's had

:13:58. > :14:03.some good results in the global tour. Remember, his wife was also

:14:04. > :14:09.in. She currently with one time fault in seventh place at the

:14:10. > :14:10.moment. Six clear rounds, including Laura Kraut, who isn't coming

:14:11. > :14:22.through to the jump-off. Just struggling a little bit at the

:14:23. > :14:29.early part of the course. Just getting it together here.

:14:30. > :14:35.Really good through the double. He's trying to keep up a quick time. But

:14:36. > :14:41.with eight faults, the prize money really disappeared for him. Takes a

:14:42. > :14:44.stride out to the last. I think that was just a lack of concentration

:14:45. > :14:51.with a few fences down. That goes as well. Three fences down. That puts

:14:52. > :15:19.him down to 22nd place with one left to go. The sun sinks low in the sky.

:15:20. > :15:27.Three and a half hours. On the edge of their seats. Kessler was in

:15:28. > :15:32.London in 2012 as an 18-year-old. The Americans did not show their

:15:33. > :15:37.best in London, that is for sure, but they are looking a lot stronger

:15:38. > :15:46.now. This lady looks another exciting prospect.

:15:47. > :15:59.A real, good jumping pedigree, this. Meaney we saw this mayor jumping

:16:00. > :16:07.recently at Hickstead, not in the best of form there. More than

:16:08. > :16:13.capable of jumping this course. Seems to be making the odd fence at

:16:14. > :16:17.the moment. Really frustrating. Did not put herself out to jump the

:16:18. > :16:24.combination. I will remind you of the news again, Laura Kraut was

:16:25. > :16:31.clear on that lovely new horse, nouvelle. The Americans have

:16:32. > :16:46.Katherine Dinan through. She will not go through. So there we

:16:47. > :16:54.are, it is going to be a very international jump off for this over

:16:55. > :16:59.?120,000 first prize in London. As dramatic as ever. It certainly will

:17:00. > :17:03.be, we have quality, we have horses who can go quickly against the

:17:04. > :17:09.clock. Very importantly, we have Scott Brash in there, he is the man

:17:10. > :17:16.we are all rooting for. He is the guy who has proven he can go against

:17:17. > :17:21.the clock under pressure. And Hello Sanctos is more than capable of

:17:22. > :17:26.coming out winning the class. Here is the situation. Laura Kraut sadly

:17:27. > :17:30.will not come forward. Don't disregard Germany and don't

:17:31. > :17:36.disregard Michael van der Vleuten. He could be very hard to beat. It is

:17:37. > :17:46.the clear rounds that are going to Tina and I are looking around. We

:17:47. > :17:49.have heard rumours that possibly Hans-Dieter Dreher is not going in

:17:50. > :17:58.the jump off either, we might have lost him and Laura Kraut, winging it

:17:59. > :18:03.down to just two jumpers will stop -- bringing it to two jumpers.

:18:04. > :18:09.Didn't Katherine Dinan do well? A great moment. Happiness, she rode

:18:10. > :18:13.unbelievable, her horse jumps like it has springs in its feet, a

:18:14. > :18:16.fantastic course to watch. We had a word with Scott Brash and he

:18:17. > :18:24.admitted it had been sticky coming out of the treble on Hello Sanctos.

:18:25. > :18:27.Yes. What happened? He was having to write quite hard, working fairly

:18:28. > :18:34.hard the whole way around the course. -- ride hard. He got flat

:18:35. > :18:39.coming out, just touched behind. It stayed up. He has a chance of

:18:40. > :18:44.winning it. Sometimes you need that element of luck. Absolutely. I have

:18:45. > :18:49.learned something fascinating down here as I have been watching these

:18:50. > :18:53.horses in the warm up area that I am going to share with you, it is about

:18:54. > :18:58.stirrups. I noticed, you may think it will be boring, stirrups, it is

:18:59. > :19:04.interesting. A few of the riders have brightly coloured stirrups made

:19:05. > :19:09.of rubber or plastic, not metal. This is a new thing in stirrups.

:19:10. > :19:12.Some of them are so you cannot get your foot stuck in the stirrup if

:19:13. > :19:16.you get dragged and the more interesting ones have magnets,

:19:17. > :19:21.magnet in your boot and magnets in the stirrup. No way? It is very hard

:19:22. > :19:23.to lose your stirrup. If you lose your stirrup it can be the

:19:24. > :19:28.difference between winning and losing the class. Your foot is

:19:29. > :19:32.attached by a magnet. I can think of plenty of jockeys that might fancy

:19:33. > :19:37.it, although it weighs heavier than light aluminium stirrups. You have

:19:38. > :19:42.magnets in the plastic stirrups, they are still not very heavy. I am

:19:43. > :19:45.determined to get a really good shot of one of these, but I know you are

:19:46. > :19:54.just saying, really, I never knew that! With eventing and dressage and

:19:55. > :19:58.showjumping, this is one of the and exports we cover here. If you can

:19:59. > :20:04.find out where you can write a locally, if you win of -- dream of

:20:05. > :20:05.winning prize money, have a look at our website. Here is what is coming

:20:06. > :20:24.up on the BBC in the next few weeks. Such magical moments. The brothers

:20:25. > :20:34.showing the way once again. It is simply stunning. A wonderful

:20:35. > :20:44.performance. Geraint Thomas, what a superb victory. It is a golden floor

:20:45. > :20:48.routine. As well as that, the European Championships continue in

:20:49. > :20:52.the Europe tomorrow at 8:45am. Heaven 40 K VM, sorry. -- 7:45am,

:20:53. > :21:04.sorry. The swimming European Championships

:21:05. > :21:10.every day this weekend from 5pm. The likes of front house, Ross Murdoch,

:21:11. > :21:22.all of those people who won Commonwealth titles.

:21:23. > :21:29.Let's have a look at the map for the jump off course. This is all that

:21:30. > :21:34.the riders are able to do. They do not get to see a map as detailed as

:21:35. > :21:38.this. Coming over the first fence, the first part of the course is the

:21:39. > :21:43.same as it was in the second round. Going over the wall, third fence,

:21:44. > :21:48.swinging left-handed back over this oxer. This is where the riders can

:21:49. > :21:55.stride out. Down to this big square oxer by the side of the arena. Then

:21:56. > :21:59.we swing back to jump just two parts of the combination. Two verticals.

:22:00. > :22:03.Need to be really careful there. Galloping on, power here, we can

:22:04. > :22:10.stride out there, come upon five strides. Coming on around, jumping

:22:11. > :22:14.this one back the other way, this is the last fence in the second round,

:22:15. > :22:23.jumping it with the water tray, backwards. Well, we can confirm that

:22:24. > :22:29.both Laura Kraut and Hans-Dieter Dreher are not coming forward in the

:22:30. > :22:38.jump. Not sure of the reasons. What an interesting jump off. Two of the

:22:39. > :22:41.speed expert in third. You cannot discount the young American. It is a

:22:42. > :22:47.fascinating situation. Perfectly poised now. With only four riders in

:22:48. > :22:52.the jump off, tactics play a part. When you have a big jump off and a

:22:53. > :22:57.lot of riders and our first to go, you have to go for it. These riders

:22:58. > :23:04.need to leave the fences up. That is Harry smoulders on the left.

:23:05. > :23:15.Harry's mother won the big plus for the Netherlands yesterday. Rob will

:23:16. > :23:20.be supporting Scott Brash. He will be looking at how van der Vleuten

:23:21. > :23:23.goes, so he can go back and advise Scott, said that Scott goes in with

:23:24. > :23:30.all of the possible advantages he can. I still think with Catherine

:23:31. > :23:43.Cumming last, Scott will have to put his foot down. -- with Catherine

:23:44. > :23:49.coming last. Matthew won in Madrid. The serious looking Scott Brash. He

:23:50. > :23:57.is the world 's number one. Michael van der Vleuten, who won in Madrid,

:23:58. > :24:02.a tremendous performance. This man is no slouch. There is Ludger

:24:03. > :24:07.Beerbaum, you would never call him that, that is for sure. Lunch may be

:24:08. > :24:12.over for the guests, but they have certainly got unexciting last dish

:24:13. > :24:18.to come. -- got an exciting last wish to come.

:24:19. > :24:27.This man won the youth championship at Juniors, young riders. He has

:24:28. > :24:31.been a superstar in the seniors. Silver medallist in London. What we

:24:32. > :24:39.are looking for, the big striding horse, can he take strides out? Now,

:24:40. > :24:44.this is an interesting tactic, he is not really going for it there. If

:24:45. > :24:51.you just going to go for the clear round? He has decided he has got

:24:52. > :25:02.quick riders behind him. This is a tactical round. Really taking it

:25:03. > :25:08.steady. Going for the clear. And if he does jump clear and the

:25:09. > :25:13.others... His tactic has not worked. A fence down now, it really will

:25:14. > :25:21.have dropped him down because he has not had his foot on the accelerator.

:25:22. > :25:27.There it is, 41.76. I am quite surprised about that, I really am.

:25:28. > :25:30.It is a tactical gamble, but we all have to make these decisions in jump

:25:31. > :25:34.off scum he decided the other riders were going to be faster than him,

:25:35. > :25:40.this horse can be untidy and difficult to turn. He went for the

:25:41. > :25:49.double clear, did not travel clear. He did not get it.

:25:50. > :25:56.Will he be the league leader after this has finished? Ludger Beerbaum

:25:57. > :26:01.is in the top ten, Scott Brash is in the top ten.

:26:02. > :26:10.This man could change the leaderboard, he might be 50, but he

:26:11. > :26:15.is a wily, canny, superb horseman. This again, with only two behind

:26:16. > :26:25.him, this is not the fastest horse. Ludwig may go a tactical clear. --

:26:26. > :26:31.Ludger Beerbaum may go for a tactical clear. This is a battle of

:26:32. > :26:36.tactics, he is going really steady. He knows the worst he could be as

:26:37. > :26:41.third if he gets it clear. Remember he is number two in the world, Scott

:26:42. > :26:46.Brash is number one in the world. The world rankings might change. You

:26:47. > :26:53.said he was canny, this is good, experienced tactics. If he can get

:26:54. > :27:06.home now. He gallops down. Terms for home. -- he turns. Jumps water

:27:07. > :27:12.ditch. The first clear, 43.85. Is that going to be enough? With Scott

:27:13. > :27:18.Brash to come and then the young American Katherine Dinan. If Scott

:27:19. > :27:23.Brash does not go quicker than that I will eat my hat. All I can say is

:27:24. > :27:27.the master tactician, he has been in the sport for a lifetime, Ludger

:27:28. > :27:35.Beerbaum. It was the decision he made, he had his clear. But Sahni

:27:36. > :27:45.has given us some incredible showjumping. -- Vezzano. The monitor

:27:46. > :27:49.in the ring there. There is one of those plastic stirrups they were

:27:50. > :27:59.talking about in the collecting area. It will not be on the mind of

:28:00. > :28:07.this man. Scott Brash. Time to beat 43.85. He has got to be clear. Now,

:28:08. > :28:13.he has gone not for full gas, he is holding a bit back. Very, very easy

:28:14. > :28:24.for him with that turn, he will already be quicker than Ludger

:28:25. > :28:32.He quickens up. A careful enough around. He only has one combination

:28:33. > :28:41.behind him. He gets the clear round. Puts the pressure on the last rider.

:28:42. > :28:49.It does not want to blow it. Steady. There it is! 38.54. Takes five

:28:50. > :28:54.seconds off Ludger Beerbaum's time, is that going to be enough? The

:28:55. > :29:00.young American will go in uninhibited. She will go for it. She

:29:01. > :29:04.has absolutely nothing to lose. That was a brilliant round by Scott, he

:29:05. > :29:08.did exactly the right thing. It was quick enough to put on a lot of

:29:09. > :29:12.pressure. He did not go so fast he took any gambles where he may have

:29:13. > :29:18.had a fence down, still holding a little bit back to make sure he got

:29:19. > :29:23.it clear. Watch him here. Made a really nice shape coming out of the

:29:24. > :29:29.double verticals. He knows he has done all he can do, that was exactly

:29:30. > :29:35.the right round. Brilliant. The world number one showing why he is

:29:36. > :29:39.there. We'll he be top of the pile after this lady? We will know in

:29:40. > :29:44.literally a minute and a half. At the very most. Katherine Dinan, the

:29:45. > :29:53.young 20-year-old, on this impressive. -- impressive horse.

:29:54. > :29:55.38.54. She knows she will win this amazing pot of money, ?120,000

:29:56. > :30:16.plus, she cannot hang about. little horse, a real athlete. She's

:30:17. > :30:21.going to have to put her foot on the pedal a little more. She's not quite

:30:22. > :30:25.moving enough there. She's definitely behind the clock there.

:30:26. > :30:35.There's a big gap for her to go into second place as well. Quickening up

:30:36. > :30:39.here. This is a tight turn. Oh, and she's stopped and she's off. It's

:30:40. > :30:45.all over. That's not the way that you'd like to win it. Up goes

:30:46. > :30:49.Scott's hand. He knows he's won. The young American, there will certainly

:30:50. > :30:55.be another day for her. There you go, that's horses. What about drama

:30:56. > :30:59.today. Hope she's OK. She went for the turn. It was a very, very big

:31:00. > :31:03.gamble. She probably felt she was slightly down on the clock. Scott

:31:04. > :31:12.had put the pressure on. He's done the business yet again. This guy is

:31:13. > :31:20.just unbelievable. Well, that will put him right up the Global

:31:21. > :31:26.Champions Tour league. It's his third victory, having won already in

:31:27. > :31:35.Cannes and now here in London. And of course, could he win it two

:31:36. > :31:39.gleerz a row? -- two years in a row. Getting congratulations from

:31:40. > :31:44.everyone. Another British winner in London. Just what the crowd came

:31:45. > :31:53.here to see. Well, there we are, confirmation of another British win.

:31:54. > :32:02.The world's number One Shows why he is exactly that. What a wonderful

:32:03. > :32:03.set of owners and a thrill for them. Beating the great Ludger Beerbaum.

:32:04. > :32:14.That is I class final order. The young American eventually

:32:15. > :32:21.finishing fourth. CLARE BALDING: Let's check that

:32:22. > :32:26.Katherine Dinan is fine. I'm OK. My horse is OK. I was trying to catch

:32:27. > :32:30.Scott, I ended up on the ground. My horse couldn't have done any better

:32:31. > :32:35.today. For me, I had nothing to lose. I tried to go to win and not

:32:36. > :32:40.just to jump a triple clear. Unfortunately, sometimes that

:32:41. > :32:43.happens. You have to go for it. You certainly did that. Thanks so much

:32:44. > :32:47.for coming to chat with us. We were a little bit worried about you. I'm

:32:48. > :32:51.fine. He's just too fast for He is me. , too fast. Too good. He is the

:32:52. > :32:54.man that everyone was talking about beforehand. It's one thing that

:32:55. > :32:58.everybody building you up, talking about you as a favourite. It's

:32:59. > :33:01.another going out and doing it. Yeah, but my horse has been

:33:02. > :33:05.unbelievable. I think my owners kept track of it. I think he's jumped

:33:06. > :33:09.something like 31 clears in these competitions. It's incredible. You

:33:10. > :33:15.know, he really is a fantastic horse. He made my life easy today.

:33:16. > :33:18.And when you were going into that jump-off you knew Ludger Beerbaum

:33:19. > :33:25.had posted a steady, clear round. What are you thinking? I saw Katie

:33:26. > :33:31.go a lot in Palm Beach and she was very fast. It's a fast horse. I knew

:33:32. > :33:37.I had to be a bit quicker than Ludger Beerbaum. He jumped, you

:33:38. > :33:43.know, his horse was a bit more inexperienced. I had to put more

:33:44. > :33:48.pressure on the last one. I knew savrning could do -- Sanctos could

:33:49. > :33:52.do that. He delivered again. Enough to put the pressure What will on.

:33:53. > :33:58.You do with him, if anything, between now and the world equestrian

:33:59. > :34:04.Games. He does Nowak. He goes home. -- He does nothing now. He goes

:34:05. > :34:08.home. They'll keep him working, keep him fit. But Kentucky is

:34:09. > :34:12.two-and-a-half weeks away. They don't really lose fitness in that

:34:13. > :34:15.amount of time. No, I'll be ticking him over till then. The important

:34:16. > :34:20.thing about this victory is it gives you a proper chance of defending the

:34:21. > :34:23.title that you won last year, another 40 points on the tour. Yeah,

:34:24. > :34:26.it's a massive boost. I need seven points, I think there's a lot of

:34:27. > :34:30.people at the top of the leaderboard which have already got seven points

:34:31. > :34:34.and I only have five now, five countable scores. You have to have

:34:35. > :34:38.seven countable scores. There's three competitions left. Hopefully,

:34:39. > :34:42.we're getting a bit nearer. Exact ly, well, it was a thrill to watch

:34:43. > :34:46.you and many congratulations, brilliant stuff. Cheers, thank you.

:34:47. > :34:49.Scott Brash, the winner of the London leg of the Global Champions

:34:50. > :35:05.Tour and just confirming the standings:

:35:06. > :35:14.There are 14 legs to the tour and seven legs count. It's quite a good

:35:15. > :35:20.form really because otherwise you overjump your horses. There's so

:35:21. > :35:24.much jumping to do. Reallies to protect them from themselves.

:35:25. > :35:27.Absolutely. And protect the riders that maybe don't have lots of horses

:35:28. > :35:31.and maybe some of the countries where it's harder to get to -

:35:32. > :35:36.Shanghai or Doha, wherever. Absolutely. The format works well.

:35:37. > :35:41.We shall leave it as it is then. Right good, let's look at Brash

:35:42. > :35:45.brash's jump-off. -- Scott Brash's jump off. I sensed he wasn't going

:35:46. > :35:50.full tilt. That's a difficult thing to do, to go three quarter pace. It

:35:51. > :35:55.is. It was a strange jump-off. It was not like last year. Only four

:35:56. > :36:00.riders in the jump-off. He basically knew he had to go as fast as he

:36:01. > :36:05.could, but he had to go safely fast. He couldn't just put his foot down

:36:06. > :36:09.and take all the chances. He was still very quick. He's a very, very

:36:10. > :36:12.fast, quick horse. It was a beautiful round. It would have won

:36:13. > :36:22.most classes anywhere in the world any way. Full credit to Scott. It

:36:23. > :36:30.was a fabulous round. Hello Sanctos seems to be the most beautifully

:36:31. > :36:34.balanced. He's so light on his feet. You watch him jump and he's so

:36:35. > :36:37.careful. Every jump he knows where his feet are. He really measures the

:36:38. > :36:40.fences up. Do you think horses know when they've had a good day? Do you

:36:41. > :36:43.think they sense that the applause is for them and the love and

:36:44. > :36:48.adoration is for them? Most definitely. You'll see, he will be

:36:49. > :36:52.so happy, when he goes into the presentation, his ears will be

:36:53. > :36:55.forward. I had a horse that, if he jumped badly he stood in the back of

:36:56. > :36:58.his stable. If he jumped well, he put the head over the stable door

:36:59. > :37:02.with his ears forward. They know, absolutely. There's a presentation

:37:03. > :37:06.coming up. Ludger Beerbaum behind us. The man who won individual

:37:07. > :37:10.Olympic gold for Germany and carried the flag for Germany at the Athens

:37:11. > :37:13.Olympics and twice a world champion and a member of the Gold

:37:14. > :37:17.Medal-winning team for the Germans twice. Rob has joined to us reflect

:37:18. > :37:21.on that. When we talked to you last, it was rushed because you wanted to

:37:22. > :37:25.watch Scott. It was great. Especially with the owners here,

:37:26. > :37:29.Lord and lady Harris here and fantastic for Scott to win the first

:37:30. > :37:32.one here in London. Very happy because it's the last before we go

:37:33. > :37:36.to the World Games. All the horses look good and sound and healthy. I'm

:37:37. > :37:39.looking forward to the next event. So far, we've had the Global

:37:40. > :37:43.Champions Tour in London twice and two British winners. Yeah, want to

:37:44. > :37:50.try to make it a tradition if we can, try to win all of them. Really

:37:51. > :37:53.good. Scott rode fantastic. Ben was a little Scott was unlucky. Saying

:37:54. > :37:57.he will do nothing really except keep the muscles moving and warm

:37:58. > :38:07.between now and Normandy. I assume the same would be true of Ben's

:38:08. > :38:11.horse. Yes, all the horses are just ready to go. We're ready, I We wish

:38:12. > :38:16.think. You well out there. Great Britain at the moment, the Olympic

:38:17. > :38:19.team showjumping champions, the European showjumping champions and

:38:20. > :38:24.trying for the first time in their history to add the third title, the

:38:25. > :38:27.World Equestrian Games. This man, Scott Brash, will lead the way.

:38:28. > :38:31.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE COMMENTATOR: Well, we will all be

:38:32. > :38:40.crossing our fingers, crossing our toes to see this man at the top of

:38:41. > :38:45.the world at the World Equestrian Games. That will be special. He's

:38:46. > :38:48.shown us today exactly why he is respected by all the other riders

:38:49. > :38:53.and also, why he is world number one. So consistent, such a great
