:00:12. > :00:20.COMMENTATOR: What a competition. My word.
:00:21. > :00:26.This horse has been brilliant. Excellent partnership.
:00:27. > :00:41.COMMENTATOR: That was easy. Oh! He is way over it.
:00:42. > :00:46.Welcome to Olympia and the London International Horse Show, where you
:00:47. > :00:53.get to see horses of all shapes and sizes and plenty of festive fun.
:00:54. > :00:55.Today we have highlights of an incredible showjumping competition
:00:56. > :01:00.featuring some of the best horses and riders in the world. What a week
:01:01. > :01:01.it has been for equestrianism. We have had trophies, tears, and a
:01:02. > :01:27.touch of glamour. What a journey I have had with this
:01:28. > :01:32.horse. Charlotte Dujardin! Comedy two fantastic from the 18-year-old.
:01:33. > :01:44.-- COMMENTATOR: Fantastic from the 18-year-old.
:01:45. > :01:48.In third place, Nick Skelton. We've come into the main arena where I am
:01:49. > :01:52.delighted to say I'm joined by Andy Austin to talk us through the
:01:53. > :01:56.Olympia Grand Prix. You've had a look at this course. What do you
:01:57. > :02:01.make of it? It is a typical Grand Prix. Not as big as the World Cup
:02:02. > :02:05.yesterday, but it is a technical course, very careful. There are a
:02:06. > :02:10.few interesting lines, to say the least. I know you want to talk about
:02:11. > :02:19.this combination, it is a treble into vent six. You come out of the
:02:20. > :02:25.corner of a big vertical. Once tried to a massive oxen. Two extra strides
:02:26. > :02:30.to another. Then you are not finished. Fence six is into the edge
:02:31. > :02:35.of the arena, right into the crowd, and it is a difficult fence. It is
:02:36. > :02:40.three committed strides to a 160 vertical. It could take a bit of
:02:41. > :02:46.jumping. It is always worth mentioning the crowd. Almost jumping
:02:47. > :02:51.at the height as the crowd. It is so different to a lot of shows. It is
:02:52. > :02:55.intense, they are close to you, and the horse is getting distracted,
:02:56. > :03:07.yeah, definitely. Who will this course suit? One or two riding
:03:08. > :03:17.jungle horses. Steve Gerber has already won. -- younger horses.
:03:18. > :03:20.Let's go through the Olympia Grand Prix.
:03:21. > :03:47.Scott Brash won in fantastic style on Sunday.
:03:48. > :03:56.Guerdat Is the reigning champion. Maher Has won this event twice. This
:03:57. > :04:07.is a world-class field. Away we go. This promises to be as
:04:08. > :04:09.good as anything we have seen in the Olympia Grand Prix. The best field I
:04:10. > :04:17.have ever seen, what about you, Andy? Big field. Top quality riders.
:04:18. > :04:28.We have proven winners as well as young horses. This course has been
:04:29. > :04:32.designed well. If it goes anything like the World Cup course on Sunday
:04:33. > :04:38.it will be a riveting hour. What is it like, Andy? The course is a lot
:04:39. > :04:44.about care. This is a difficult line. Into the corner. Straight into
:04:45. > :04:48.this big combination. Two fairly short strides, then three long
:04:49. > :04:58.strides. Then the huge vertical. Brilliantly done there. A very
:04:59. > :05:01.tricky vertical. Coming away from the entrance. Those two macro
:05:02. > :05:11.verticals will be influential. They are right up to one metre 60
:05:12. > :05:19.centimetres. Very light double verticals here. And then down to the
:05:20. > :05:26.last power fence at number 12. The won the silver medal behind Nick
:05:27. > :05:31.Skelton. A big star in Rio without hitting a fence all tournament. It
:05:32. > :05:36.was a terrific performance. But he has two macro fences down, eight
:05:37. > :05:44.faults come in a time of 59.1. The time allowed a 62nds. He was close
:05:45. > :05:55.to that time. -- at the time allowed is 60 seconds. He rides for the
:05:56. > :06:00.all-powerful Belgian organisation. He is in tremendous form. Four wins
:06:01. > :06:07.in Dublin. And he wrote in a winning nations cup, as well. He has climbed
:06:08. > :06:16.the world rankings in form we have not seen the light of for many a
:06:17. > :06:20.year. Very talented. -- like. He is going to have his first visit. We
:06:21. > :06:21.can expect fireworks from this man. He is certainly one of the
:06:22. > :06:43.favourites. Lorenzo De Luca. A stunning chestnut stallion. Not
:06:44. > :06:50.the biggest horse, but a real athletic type, as so many
:06:51. > :07:03.Heartbreakers are. Had to work hard to jump the second
:07:04. > :07:07.part of that combination. Now, this is the vertical off the corner, and
:07:08. > :07:14.that is going to catch quite a few riders. Absolutely no fillers,
:07:15. > :07:24.nothing to get them in the air, those stile fences. Got to get home
:07:25. > :07:27.in under 60 seconds. Beautifully through the double verticals. Down
:07:28. > :07:32.to the last fence. Should be OK for time. He has had the last! Well,
:07:33. > :07:38.that was amazing, he just jumped such a good round. This round had
:07:39. > :07:46.clear round written all over it. There he is, spot on to the last
:07:47. > :07:48.fence, and he clipped the back rail. Showjumping is a cruel sport at
:07:49. > :07:56.times. Because he jumped a very good round.
:07:57. > :08:03.Kenny has a base in Europe, a base in Florida, and is one of those big
:08:04. > :08:04.stars making a big mark. Very impressive winner of the Barcelona
:08:05. > :08:22.Grand Prix. Kenny with the nine-year-old Charly
:08:23. > :08:29.Chaplin. Isn't it great to have a horse called Charly Chaplin, instead
:08:30. > :08:31.of one of those fancy named Belgian horses? I could not agree with you
:08:32. > :08:45.more. Clear rounds pretty scarce at the
:08:46. > :08:50.moment. Faults all over the place. There is no particular part of this
:08:51. > :08:53.course that seems to be the most difficult, but there are problems
:08:54. > :08:58.all the way round. This vertical and the next vertical forces you to be
:08:59. > :09:06.so careful. You cannot breathe on them. It is worth just mentioning a
:09:07. > :09:10.little bit more about Kenny. He has had an amazing year. He has shot up
:09:11. > :09:14.the rankings. He has had some very good wins. He won the Grand Prix in
:09:15. > :09:19.Barcelona. Good round from him there, just the one fence down. He
:09:20. > :09:29.made good time. Making it look a little easier there. Might be a
:09:30. > :09:34.little bit too far off the oxen going into the double. He had to
:09:35. > :09:39.say, Kenny, you can watch him right or night. He is going to be a big
:09:40. > :09:45.name for the future. -- you can watch him all night.
:09:46. > :09:50.An Olympic gold medallist now for you, from the United States of
:09:51. > :09:56.America will stop she won her team gold. She was in the jump off when
:09:57. > :10:06.America beat Canada for the gold medal in Hong Kong and she is
:10:07. > :10:12.competing here tonight. -- of America. One of the most talented
:10:13. > :10:17.female riders in the world. She has, I'm sure, had the most enjoyable few
:10:18. > :10:20.months. She is the part of Nick Skelton. Living in Warwickshire. And
:10:21. > :10:30.she has been riding really well here. She has won her class and been
:10:31. > :10:33.good in others. It is great to see Laura crowd here. She is such a
:10:34. > :10:38.brilliant ride on a number of different horses. This is only a
:10:39. > :10:44.nine-year-old. -- it is great to see Laura here. When they get to eight
:10:45. > :10:50.or nine they step up to this level. And it is such a difficult change
:10:51. > :10:53.from just jumping the normal classes.
:10:54. > :11:04.Had to study up for the double. She is clear. Brilliant round. Just
:11:05. > :11:11.inside the time. -- steady up. She has put herself very much into the
:11:12. > :11:16.reckoning. Brilliant piece of riding. She jumped quite forward
:11:17. > :11:23.into the double verticals. She had to study up. And then a big effort
:11:24. > :11:27.over the last fence. Still got some proper Grand Prix horses to come.
:11:28. > :11:40.We certainly have. No doubt about that. As we see Anthony Condon with
:11:41. > :11:48.one of two very good horses these days. Based up in Cheshire. He has
:11:49. > :11:52.jumped some very good Nations cup rounds for Ireland. He has also been
:11:53. > :11:56.placed on some good 5-star competitions. He has stepped up to
:11:57. > :12:06.the plate. He will be a big man in Ireland for the seasons to come.
:12:07. > :12:16.This horses owned by Pauline Goodwood. A fantastic champion
:12:17. > :12:21.stallion. Ridden by so many top Dutch teams. They always have a lot
:12:22. > :12:33.of power, a lot of scope. Sometimes they can be a bit strong.
:12:34. > :12:43.Anthony has done really good this week. He has had some great results.
:12:44. > :12:49.He has definitely turned into a top rider. If he keeps getting the
:12:50. > :13:00.backing he has a huge huge in the sport. He has had a bit of luck. --
:13:01. > :13:15.huge future in the sport. He has a time fault. That puts him into
:13:16. > :13:20.fourth. That was a shame for Anthony . Could not quite get himself inside
:13:21. > :13:26.the time. But this is a good horse with good scope. Just unlucky.
:13:27. > :13:31.Laura, well done, a couple of sticky moments. Yes I was looking for where
:13:32. > :13:37.I would hit the ground. She kept trying to get her feet under but she
:13:38. > :13:41.couldn't do it. Anyway, she made a heroic effort not to fall down,
:13:42. > :13:47.which was a nice Christmas present for me. And she has done so well at
:13:48. > :13:51.Olympia. She has been amazing. The first fault was mine, I was a little
:13:52. > :13:55.bit too long in the six. I cut back. She's good at that. I don't know if
:13:56. > :14:00.it is because I was close to the wall and she didn't understand and
:14:01. > :14:09.kept her legs down. Anyway, she probably won't ever do that again.
:14:10. > :14:13.Here, the man who raises the roof, it is Scott Brash. He raised the
:14:14. > :14:26.roof yesterday with that magnificent World Cup when. Fantastic. -- win.
:14:27. > :14:37.Scott Brash is in great form. He was third in Geneva. He won here on
:14:38. > :14:43.Sunday. And he is riding Lord and Lady Kirkham's horse. An
:14:44. > :14:51.11-year-old. A very capable horse. But this would be a big question for
:14:52. > :14:54.it. Scott Brash is one of those riders in a lovely position of
:14:55. > :15:04.having different horses to jump in Grand Prix all week. Not the most
:15:05. > :15:09.famous of his horses but it has a lot of talent. As we know with Scott
:15:10. > :15:11.Brash, when it comes to the big occasion he is your man. Still clear
:15:12. > :15:27.at the moment. Just the last fence to go. Oh, what
:15:28. > :15:36.a performance. Yet again by Scott Brash. It is a clear round number
:15:37. > :15:42.two. Nicely in. But that was a classic Scott Brash round. Typical
:15:43. > :15:47.Scott Brash. He did have a bit of luck. Very, very lucky to leave the
:15:48. > :15:54.first part of the combination. But he's so good for the big occasions.
:15:55. > :16:00.Absolute brilliant ride. Holding his horse in balance. Fantastic effort
:16:01. > :16:09.from Scott Brash. Yet again, in a big Grand Prix, he's jumped clear.
:16:10. > :16:16.New young star at his first Olympia. Tim from Henley. He won the Rainbow
:16:17. > :16:21.Brookes Ward Trophy given every year here at Olympia for the best
:16:22. > :16:30.international prospect in the limp I can disciplines. Tim Wilkes, double
:16:31. > :16:34.clear in Lisbon. Double clear in a five-star and I would think this
:16:35. > :16:42.would be probably the biggest course he will have jumped indoors. I think
:16:43. > :16:49.it is probably the most technically difficult. Whether he goes clear or
:16:50. > :16:53.not, Tim Wilkes has done himself a lot of good coming here this week.
:16:54. > :16:57.First time at the show. He's obviously got a great temperament
:16:58. > :17:01.and technique. He has a big future in the sport. He has some good
:17:02. > :17:09.backing. We're definitely going to see him back here again.
:17:10. > :17:19.Having had a couple of fences down, he's kept his cool. Great ride. Down
:17:20. > :17:24.the last line. Good round. Looks to have got a very good temperament.
:17:25. > :17:28.Technique looks exciting. A Manuel' hear more of. Yeah, that was a
:17:29. > :17:35.little bit unlucky that first fence he had down. Here he is just coming
:17:36. > :17:43.in to the combination. Perhaps just cut the angle a little bit there.
:17:44. > :17:46.Good effort. Scot, thankfully the second clear round after a whole
:17:47. > :17:51.load of horses. How tough is that course? It's a tricky course. It
:17:52. > :17:54.comes on you very quick and fast. Everything's tight out of the
:17:55. > :17:59.corners. I think it's a very good course. But it is very technical.
:18:00. > :18:04.It's a business Ki course. Governor's a busy horse. Is he easy
:18:05. > :18:10.to settle on a course like that? Easier than he looks, actually. He
:18:11. > :18:16.gets a bit excited. He wants to get going. No, he's a great horse. Very
:18:17. > :18:21.talented. After yesterday, would you fancy your chances in front of this
:18:22. > :18:24.home crowd in a jump-off tonight? I'll be trying my absolute best
:18:25. > :18:32.anyway. The crowd's there to cheer me on. I'll give it my best. Olympic
:18:33. > :18:43.champion of 2012, finished fourth in Rio. Both those performances on the
:18:44. > :18:49.great horse Nino, du Buset. This man has a whole stable of exciting young
:18:50. > :18:57.horses. This is one of them. Won the World Cup on this horse. Actually,
:18:58. > :19:04.was placed third in the top ten competition they had in Geneva last
:19:05. > :19:06.week behind Canadian Eric Lamaze. This man's on form. Jumped some
:19:07. > :19:16.smashing rounds here. Quite a fascinating horse to watch.
:19:17. > :19:21.A bit of heart in the mouth stuff. He seems to hang in the air. Gets
:19:22. > :19:28.very high over the fences. A little bit of tapping going on. But this
:19:29. > :19:32.horse has got a lot of form over some very big Grand Prixes. It's not
:19:33. > :19:39.looking that pretty to watch but he's still clear. Well, a little bit
:19:40. > :19:47.of luck again there. Just this last fence. Oh, this is building into a
:19:48. > :19:54.wonderful competition, the Olympia Grand Prix. Three clear rounds.
:19:55. > :19:59.Laura Kraut America, Scott Brash Great Britain and now Steve Guerdat
:20:00. > :20:03.Switzerland. Steve Guerdat rode for his life around this track. He had
:20:04. > :20:11.to work very hard and he had a little bit of luck as well. So,
:20:12. > :20:19.another top, top class combination into the jump-off. We're now halfway
:20:20. > :20:24.through the first round. We've got one Italian on four faults. Two on
:20:25. > :20:30.four faults, three clear rounds at the moment. Here is another in form
:20:31. > :20:38.Italian. Part of the Dublin Nations Cup victory. A sensational victory
:20:39. > :20:41.for Italy. They've come back into the forefront of showjumping. It's
:20:42. > :20:48.only an eight-year-old horse. A big horse but it's a big course.
:20:49. > :21:08.This big mare, she's certainly got scope.
:21:09. > :21:11.Couldn't quite get the forward movement on the second part of the
:21:12. > :21:32.combination. Giving her a really good ride. So
:21:33. > :21:32.difficult to man over such a big horse round these corners.
:21:33. > :21:47.# Manoeuvre. Over the time. Gets home. Five
:21:48. > :21:57.faults. Good round for a young horse, though. Just eight years old.
:21:58. > :22:01.That score of five puts him at the moment into seventh place. Steve,
:22:02. > :22:05.this is certainly a course causing a lot of problems for a lot of riders
:22:06. > :22:12.but not you tonight? I was a little bit lucky. I had a few rubs. It's
:22:13. > :22:16.our last big class of the year. I really wanted to come home clear no
:22:17. > :22:23.matter how. Luck was on my side. Hopefully one more round.
:22:24. > :22:30.Interesting finger? Scott Brash working out how he'll win the class,
:22:31. > :22:45.Mike. That's what this huge crowd would like. Now the leading lady
:22:46. > :22:53.rider in the world. Penelope from France with madam Genevieve. She'
:22:54. > :22:57.had some Grand Prix victories in Bordeaux, Verona, Antwerp. But, the
:22:58. > :23:07.one that she would have really liked to have shone was in Rio. A surprise
:23:08. > :23:11.tumble. Horse shipped her out after landing. She didn't complete the
:23:12. > :23:15.team. The rest of the team really had to work. But what a talent.
:23:16. > :23:24.France without a clear round at the moment. America, Britain and
:23:25. > :23:31.Switzerland with the clear rounds. This is a lovely mare. Not
:23:32. > :23:36.Penelope's top horse. She's resting her other horse this week. You can
:23:37. > :23:40.see Penelope, another rider with a big string of horses. She has the
:23:41. > :23:47.luxury of swapping them around, keeping them fresh. Coming home with
:23:48. > :23:56.the one down. Four faults. What's the time? 59.92. The slowest of the
:23:57. > :24:06.three on form. She goes into sixth place at the moment. Three clear
:24:07. > :24:08.rounds to jump-off as is A game little mare, this one. Just nicked
:24:09. > :24:22.the one fence on the way round. Now the man for Britain who's won
:24:23. > :24:30.this Olympia Grand Prix on two occasions. Michael Whitaker won on
:24:31. > :24:36.Everest Midnight Maddens in 1992 and he won it last year on this horse
:24:37. > :24:40.Viking. Bertram Allen sadly disqualified in the Grand Prix. So,
:24:41. > :24:48.Michael took the victory here one year ago. The horse is very capable
:24:49. > :24:53.on his day. Not easy to ride. Hasn't really hit the high spots here at
:24:54. > :24:57.Olympia. In fact, Michael's 14-year-old son Jack has won more
:24:58. > :25:15.prize money than Michael at Olympia so far. Could change tonight.
:25:16. > :25:21.Michael, clear at the moment. He hasn't had a great week. A hungry
:25:22. > :25:30.Michael is always dangerous. Still clear. Just down this last
:25:31. > :25:39.line. We'd love to see Michael in the jump-off. Oh, no! That last
:25:40. > :25:44.fence! That's just been the sort of week that Michael's had. That's the
:25:45. > :25:56.second time this week. Such hard luck there. Time, 58.91. The third
:25:57. > :26:05.fastest. Goes sixth just ahead of Penelope. He jumped a fantastic
:26:06. > :26:17.round. So clean over the double. Just dwelt in the air over the last.
:26:18. > :26:24.Now, Marcus Enning. Four years ago, he won it with Sabrina. And he has
:26:25. > :26:36.been riding out of his skin this week. Marcus riding chin chin. There
:26:37. > :26:40.aren't many competitions this man hasn't won in this Grand Hall. He'll
:26:41. > :26:49.be short odds with the bookies for sure. Marcus, another top rider with
:26:50. > :26:54.a big string has opted to ride a different horse than the one he rode
:26:55. > :27:05.in the World Cup. This one, beautiful pipe. Lots of ability.
:27:06. > :27:08.What we always say about Marcus Enning, whether he jumps clear or
:27:09. > :27:22.not, we love watching him ride. He's so stylish and so sympathetic.
:27:23. > :27:34.Oh, he's riding his luck there. We may not be getting many clear rounds
:27:35. > :27:46.but we're getting classy ones. What a jump-off this is building into.
:27:47. > :27:51.Marcus Enning from Germany joins the other three. Watch his hands. He
:27:52. > :27:58.sits so still. This is a horse with a lot of power. He's really quite
:27:59. > :28:02.sympathetic riding. A little lucky just the first part of the double. I
:28:03. > :28:06.think the face says it all. My goodness, so close. What a
:28:07. > :28:10.disappointment in the end? ? You can't help that. He's done very
:28:11. > :28:15.good. The only fence he touched so... How tough is that course? It's
:28:16. > :28:20.tough. Difficult, technical. Big scope. It's tough. You said Viking
:28:21. > :28:24.had been jumping so well. You need luck as well as skill? Needed a bit
:28:25. > :28:30.of luck and I didn't have it. I've had it before so I can't complain.
:28:31. > :28:38.Young man who's had his 21st birthday this week. Jos, Verlooy for
:28:39. > :28:45.Belgium. His father, Axel, a very successful horse dealer. World-class
:28:46. > :28:54.horses. Jos gets some very good rides. This, an 11-year-old. Big
:28:55. > :29:00.wins on that. This man, at 17, jumped a wonderful European
:29:01. > :29:10.Championships in Denmark. He's been all over the world winning at Grand
:29:11. > :29:19.Prixes this season. Very talented. Jos Verlooy, Belgium. Just had to
:29:20. > :29:24.react down the combination. Horses need to stretch forward. Can't have
:29:25. > :29:29.too much pace into that cominbinings. Sudden, you have a
:29:30. > :29:35.great big ox in front of you. You need a reaction from your horse. Jos
:29:36. > :29:41.is very tall and very strong. Working quite hard. Still clear.
:29:42. > :29:42.Yeah, he didn't come quite right to that double. A little out of
:29:43. > :29:59.balance. So the fours building up. Jos goes
:30:00. > :30:03.seventh behind Darragh Kenny. This course totally unforgiving. Any
:30:04. > :30:11.mistakes, you get a little too close to a fence, it's going to come down.
:30:12. > :30:15.21-year-old Bertram Allen. The young man who's based in Germany but rides
:30:16. > :30:26.for Ireland. He's won the Massters here this week in cracking good
:30:27. > :30:30.form. This eight-year-old. To prove his form, three cars he won at
:30:31. > :30:37.Stockholm, including the Grand Prix up there. He's not going to win this
:30:38. > :30:45.one. So, nearly won last year's but then, sadly, was disqualified by the
:30:46. > :30:49.judges. Wondered whether he would be really looking to win this. He's
:30:50. > :30:57.gone very well this week. But it's not to be.
:30:58. > :31:05.Another rider opting to ride a younger horse. He has been
:31:06. > :31:12.developing all week. Cannot keep jumping the big tracks on the same
:31:13. > :31:17.horses all the time. She is a horse with a big future. She is an
:31:18. > :31:23.athlete. She is careful. You can see she will jumped lots of Grand Prix
:31:24. > :31:39.in her future career -- jump. The four vaults building up now. Six of
:31:40. > :31:41.them in all. He has this place. Just the one fence down, those dreaded
:31:42. > :31:56.planks. -- fifth place. CHEERING
:31:57. > :32:03.Here's the great man. Part of the British riders in the World Cup on
:32:04. > :32:10.Sunday. Remember, Britain had three in the top five. John was in fifth
:32:11. > :32:15.but he was amongst the very best. It did not work out for him in the
:32:16. > :32:21.Olympic Games, but still riding as good as ever. He might have a fence
:32:22. > :32:28.down but this man is enigmatic still. It is interesting, John
:32:29. > :32:32.opting to ride the only horse he probably has here who could jump the
:32:33. > :32:37.big Grand Prix. But she has jumped well all week. But he is going to
:32:38. > :32:41.retire. Good decision. He has given her the opportunity. She is not
:32:42. > :32:45.quite at the races. She jumped so well in the World Cup. He is an
:32:46. > :32:52.absolute hero and a legend, John, and the crowd absolutely love him.
:32:53. > :32:55.And so they should. What is it, Andy, 20 years ago when he was in
:32:56. > :33:02.hospital in Sweden with a brain haemorrhage? Extraordinary career.
:33:03. > :33:06.He has been in the top for many years. He very nearly died of a
:33:07. > :33:15.brain haemorrhage. But here he is, still entertaining us. One of the
:33:16. > :33:19.leading lady riders. Another great performance by her in Rio. Australia
:33:20. > :33:27.looked a really good prospect for the first team round. Eventually
:33:28. > :33:34.faded away. Still, Edwina finished individually in ninth. She has
:33:35. > :33:42.written some great horses. Her husband has a great eye for horses
:33:43. > :33:49.and here is another one. She had a big Grand Prix in Miami Beach. She
:33:50. > :33:54.has been very successful, again, on the champions tour. She has won a
:33:55. > :34:00.World Cup here, but she hasn't actually won the Grand Prix. Well,
:34:01. > :34:07.this is a pocket rocket. You can see. Small horse, massive engine.
:34:08. > :34:17.Lots of blood. Really suits Edwina's style of writing. She is getting
:34:18. > :34:18.quite excited. -- riding. Very strong down that line. Showing loads
:34:19. > :34:39.of class. I have not seen too many clears
:34:40. > :34:44.tonight. Could do with another one here. She is having to study up.
:34:45. > :34:50.CHEERING Brilliant. This is a very exciting
:34:51. > :34:59.horse. -- steady. Well written. Edwina gives us a clear round.
:35:00. > :35:05.Australia in a very exciting jumped off with six left to go in round
:35:06. > :35:11.one. Lovely to watch California. Such an athlete. Springs off the
:35:12. > :35:14.floor like a little gazelle. Always looking for the next fence.
:35:15. > :35:25.Absolutely tries her heart out over the last oxen. Daniel Deusser,
:35:26. > :35:31.ranked three in the world. He's in the bronze medal team for Germany in
:35:32. > :35:40.Rio. Another one who has done a trip and a half around the world. This
:35:41. > :35:54.man won Grand Prix all over the world. Los Angeles, Doha, and this
:35:55. > :35:59.is a wonderful horse. Daniel Deusser is one of the most stylish riders in
:36:00. > :36:14.the world, from Germany. As you say, stylish, effective. He
:36:15. > :36:17.is a very tall and elegant rider. He rides so many different horses for
:36:18. > :36:24.his stables. Another rider with an incredibly strong string. He always
:36:25. > :36:30.seems to pull out another fresh horse every week for a Grand Prix.
:36:31. > :36:41.Just started to get some clear rounds now. Have we got another one?
:36:42. > :36:45.We have. We are up to six. Germany with two. They begin to get the
:36:46. > :36:50.advantage. They have not shown it yet at the show but they could
:36:51. > :36:54.tonight. Daniel Deusser showing his class and quality. In control, in
:36:55. > :37:00.balance, clean jumping all the way round. A lovely round and thankfully
:37:01. > :37:05.another clear. Quite a short list. She has been jumping so well for
:37:06. > :37:10.you. Yes, this is my second Big Show with her. I had her a few weeks ago,
:37:11. > :37:14.then we went to Paris, she jumped at the Grand Prix there. Then
:37:15. > :37:18.yesterday. So this is the third big class we have jumped. Is this the
:37:19. > :37:22.sort of course which suits her because she is compact and nippy? I
:37:23. > :37:27.don't know because I haven't had her long enough. She has control. Today
:37:28. > :37:30.was testing. Maybe more technical than yesterday. Yesterday was a
:37:31. > :37:35.touch bigger. I thought today you have to have good control and note
:37:36. > :37:38.how to get your horse on the right spot. You did that, well done.
:37:39. > :37:54.Thanks. Robert has been in good form here.
:37:55. > :38:05.Has been in some very good placings. And he has gone well both in Calgary
:38:06. > :38:13.in the big 5-star there. And was a winner of a three star Grand Prix,
:38:14. > :38:18.as well. This is a horse that has certainly shown some scope. Massive
:38:19. > :38:40.jumper, this one. Interesting to hear him say, this
:38:41. > :38:44.horse with such a big engine, needs to steady up over these verticals.
:38:45. > :39:02.He has managed it there. He is living dangerously. But this horse
:39:03. > :39:14.has some leap. Woah, he says, but not enough. Just the one fence down.
:39:15. > :39:15.So near yet so far. Slow time. Down in 12th place with six to go against
:39:16. > :39:31.the clock and three left to jump. There is Daniel Deusser. They are
:39:32. > :39:37.all checking out the jump off. Ben Maher, Great Britain, second in the
:39:38. > :39:42.World Cup, second to Scott Brash. Scott Brash is already clear. Can he
:39:43. > :39:49.give him another run for his money? Ben Maher, twice winner before, in
:39:50. > :40:02.2013. He has Olympic gold medals from London. And in 2014 he won with
:40:03. > :40:12.Diva. Don Vito, a fairly new one, and eight-year-old. It is always
:40:13. > :40:15.great to see new horses coming up to this level. Testing them over these
:40:16. > :40:33.types of courses. A little bit unlucky. Just showed a
:40:34. > :40:40.little bit of inexperience. But this horse has a lot of talent. Ben has
:40:41. > :40:48.been working very hard to rebuild his string. He is one of those
:40:49. > :40:58.riders, he can ride any kind of horse. Always get a tune out of
:40:59. > :41:05.them. Great round for this young horse. Just the one fence down. Ben
:41:06. > :41:12.has looked in tremendous form as a jockey. But it is four. He goes
:41:13. > :41:19.seventh on that with that one fence down. A horse with a big future.
:41:20. > :41:24.This was just a little bit of inexperience. You cannot be too hard
:41:25. > :41:29.on him for that. Cracking round. Looks every inch the proper jumper.
:41:30. > :41:42.And we finish with another former winner.
:41:43. > :41:51.Cian won in 2009. And this horse has an interesting build-up this
:41:52. > :41:57.afternoon. He took in five rounds in the six bar and the horse got better
:41:58. > :42:01.and better, very careful. And he said from the word go that this was
:42:02. > :42:13.a warm up for the Grand Prix tonight. He is a nine-year-old. Cian
:42:14. > :42:20.O'Connor Is one of the last to go for Ireland in this last round.
:42:21. > :42:24.Great tactics from Cian. This is a horse with a lot of energy. Clearly
:42:25. > :42:28.he needed to get back in the arena, jumpy few fences, and the six bar is
:42:29. > :42:40.almost like a training exercise to get the horse concentrating. -- jump
:42:41. > :42:49.a few fences. Interesting down that line. This is another youngster.
:42:50. > :43:00.Nine years old. Had a bit of a difficult turn around that corner.
:43:01. > :43:08.Well written, -- ridden, Cian. He has lost it. Fractionally over. Good
:43:09. > :43:17.round. Only had a horse for a week or two. A total of five in the end
:43:18. > :43:24.for the Irishman, Cian O'Connor. You could see that Cian was struggling.
:43:25. > :43:29.Very difficult to get back under control for the double vertical. Don
:43:30. > :43:47.Don Vito It's good for -- Don Vito is a good horse. How has it been. He
:43:48. > :43:51.has been lent to me. We have only had him a couple of months. He has
:43:52. > :43:56.learnt so much over the last two weeks. He has been placed with both
:43:57. > :44:01.big classes this week. I was expecting him to jump back towards
:44:02. > :44:06.me and high in the middle like a lot of the other horses. I tried to help
:44:07. > :44:11.him but he just went through. But it has been a good week and I am happy.
:44:12. > :44:15.Six to go in the jump off. Nobody will argue about the quality. Scott
:44:16. > :44:26.Brash, the winner in the World Cup, and Laura Kraut at the top.
:44:27. > :44:33.That was a tricky first round. Only six players. But six of the biggest
:44:34. > :44:37.names of showjumping are into the jump. Let's rejoin Michael Tucker
:44:38. > :44:44.and Andy Austin to talk us through things.
:44:45. > :44:59.COMMENTATOR: This is the action in the grand Hall. The crowd loving it.
:45:00. > :45:07.And here is the big Grand Prix jump off field.
:45:08. > :45:19.The atmosphere from start to finish has been absolutely cracking. This
:45:20. > :45:25.field we have now is one of the best fields we have had for a final job
:45:26. > :45:32.of for many a year. Now, can she do it from the front? Just as her
:45:33. > :45:35.partner, Nick, did in Rio. Laura Kraut, first to go in the jump off
:45:36. > :45:44.in the Olympia Grand Prix for America. A young horse but she is
:45:45. > :45:51.going for it. Once over the big oxen, now turning back.
:45:52. > :45:59.Down to the big vertical. A difficult fence towards the crowd.
:46:00. > :46:03.Now the double here. Huge double. Then two fences sweeping round back
:46:04. > :46:08.towards the entrance. Tight turn into what was the first part. Oh, a
:46:09. > :46:13.nasty stumble there. Well recovered Laura. I thought for a moment she
:46:14. > :46:18.was coming out of front door. This is a very young, inexperienced
:46:19. > :46:25.horse. Laura did brilliantly not to come out the front door. Well done.
:46:26. > :46:31.So, difficult start for her. She finishes on 12 faults. Time allowed,
:46:32. > :46:40.57 seconds. She doesn't get any time faults. Total 12 for Laura Kraut and
:46:41. > :46:44.Cavalia. A This is a really difficult turn for an inexperienced
:46:45. > :46:53.horse. Slightly caught the top of it. Thank goodness Laura was OK. Can
:46:54. > :47:02.he make it? The two big ones of Olympia 2016. Scott Brash, now
:47:03. > :47:08.trying to take the Grand Prix Hello Guvnor. There's only one thing on
:47:09. > :47:15.Scott's mind. He's going to go for it.
:47:16. > :47:24.We'll have a time check. Have a look when he comes round to the double.
:47:25. > :47:33.That's the fence they've got to jump. Now, with the not too many
:47:34. > :47:37.numbers in the jump-off, what are the tactics of the next riders going
:47:38. > :47:51.to be? Will this be one just on jumping? -- won just on touching?
:47:52. > :47:54.Lucky at the last. Four in 40.83. I can't think that will be good
:47:55. > :48:00.enough. Four to go. There's surely got to be a clear round amongst
:48:01. > :48:06.those four? Scott, absolutely flying round this course. What happens is
:48:07. > :48:10.the horse's anticipate turning to the left. It is very hard to keep
:48:11. > :48:22.them in the air at that sort of speed. Steve Guerdat and Corbinian.
:48:23. > :48:26.Steve and Scott have had fascinating battles over the last three or four
:48:27. > :48:33.years, often in Geneva for the valuable Grand Prix. Steve Guerdat's
:48:34. > :48:40.come out with one and Scott Brash has come out with a win. Who's it
:48:41. > :48:45.going to be this time? This good ten-year-old horse has been a very
:48:46. > :48:52.big winner. What will he do? For to a clear or will he just keep the
:48:53. > :48:59.foot on the accelerator without flying? He still has the likes.
:49:00. > :49:04.Third to go in the jump-off. No clear round. He's going tor it. He
:49:05. > :49:09.still has the likes of Marcus Ehning to come behind him. Certainly not
:49:10. > :49:14.going slowly. Gone too tight there. We've seen all sorts of drama in
:49:15. > :49:20.this jump-off. Very hard for him to pick up the pace. Scott Brash was
:49:21. > :49:26.really quick round here. That's completely taken his momentum away.
:49:27. > :49:40.This is such a tense atmosphere. Flies the last. 40.83. Exactly the
:49:41. > :49:46.same time as Scott Brash. They are identical. Wow! You don't see that
:49:47. > :49:54.very often. That was such a tight turn. He didn't quite have the
:49:55. > :50:00.stride. What a great recovery. .Ant he's still equal first with Scott
:50:01. > :50:04.Brash. You are watching what is one of the best competitions of
:50:05. > :50:11.showjumping that's been seen anywhere in the world this year.
:50:12. > :50:15.Marcus Ehning. He's been the world's number one on many occasions. He
:50:16. > :50:26.dropped down the world rankings early this year. But he's right back
:50:27. > :50:32.up in the top now. Marcus riding Lindenhof. No clear round.
:50:33. > :50:40.Still going for the time. Two incredibly fast riders. That
:50:41. > :50:49.actually fell. It was a late falling pole. Still no clears. A fascinating
:50:50. > :50:54.jump-off. He can still go into the lead if he goes for it. But that's
:50:55. > :51:01.gone as well. We're getting enough drama in this jump-off. We certainly
:51:02. > :51:06.are. Two riders still to come. Fascinating tactical battle for
:51:07. > :51:19.them. The atmosphere in this hall is elect trick to say the least. -- e
:51:20. > :51:24.electric. Eight faults it is. Two to go and there's still two at the top
:51:25. > :51:30.of the leaderboard. Scott Brash, Steve Guerdat. Watch this pole.
:51:31. > :51:36.Gives it a rattle. One, possibly two strides away from the fence where it
:51:37. > :51:42.span on the cups. One more down as well.
:51:43. > :51:52.Edwina Tops-Alexander jumps a clear she'll go into the lead with Daniel
:51:53. > :51:58.Deusser to come. You don't need your horse bucking just as you're about
:51:59. > :52:02.to jump a Grand Prix jump-off. Young horse, we've waited for someone to
:52:03. > :52:08.go for these tactics. She's going for the clear round. One rider
:52:09. > :52:12.behind her. She's gambled Daniel Deusser will be faster than her.
:52:13. > :52:25.She's going to try to put the pressure on. Going steady. Jumping
:52:26. > :52:38.so cleanly now. Sometimes these Grand Prix, they're won on jumping
:52:39. > :52:46.alone. Just one to go. First clear coming up? Is it? It is. What a
:52:47. > :52:53.round. She's done it. Time, 48.42. Time is beatable. But she's clear.
:52:54. > :53:00.One left to go for Germany. Daniel Deusser. She's put the marker down.
:53:01. > :53:05.We know, for sure, Daniel Deusser will go quicker. Will he go clear?
:53:06. > :53:12.That's the question. Here is the last one to go. The German Daniel
:53:13. > :53:29.does from the Stephex stables. It won't be horrible if he wins,
:53:30. > :53:34.that's for sure. 110,000 euros in the prize fund of which 25% goes to
:53:35. > :53:43.the winner. All he has to do is make this turn. Now he knows time-wise,
:53:44. > :54:01.it's in the bag. He's already shaved three or four seconds off the time.
:54:02. > :54:12.From here on in, he can settle down. Two fences between him and the Grand
:54:13. > :54:20.Prix. Miles up on the clock. And he's won it! He's won it doing hand
:54:21. > :54:25.stands. Lovely round. It's why he is the world's number three. That might
:54:26. > :54:35.well put him up to the world number two. Tremendous performance. What a
:54:36. > :54:44.Grand Prix we've seen here tonight. Daniel busker with he can would the
:54:45. > :54:52.ta. Wins it for Germany. A win for Germany, Daniel Deusser. Edwina
:54:53. > :54:55.Tops-Alexander brilliant. Equal third, Steve Guerdat for Switzerland
:54:56. > :54:59.and Britain's Scott Brash. Daniel, congratulations. It was a tough
:55:00. > :55:04.first round. A tough jump-off. You went clear in both and in the
:55:05. > :55:08.fastest times. You must be delighted with your horse's performance? I'm
:55:09. > :55:11.really happy with my horse. She jumped a World Cup yesterday. I
:55:12. > :55:16.really didn't ride nice. Today, she tried again. Over and over again, a
:55:17. > :55:23.double clear round. I was a little lucky to be last in the jump-off.
:55:24. > :55:27.Only Edwina was clear, but not too fast. In that way, it was easier for
:55:28. > :55:31.me. My horse tries over and over. Really happy to finish the week like
:55:32. > :55:37.that. You need luck but you've a lot of talent as well. Won the first and
:55:38. > :55:42.last class here? I had a perfect week. Two wins, one time second. A
:55:43. > :55:47.lot of other good placements. I'm really, really happy. Edwina, a nice
:55:48. > :55:51.way to round off a busy Olympia. Just two clear rounds. Sadly Daniel
:55:52. > :55:56.was a little faster than you tonight? I knew my time was easy to
:55:57. > :56:00.beat. I was trying to keep the jumps up and trying to stay smooth. She's
:56:01. > :56:06.not quite ready yet to go fast. I'm not ready to go fast with her yet.
:56:07. > :56:10.Fortunately, not too many clear. It was a matter of having a clear.
:56:11. > :56:16.She's come a lopping way in a really short time. Tricky tactically to
:56:17. > :56:20.have a clear round but you've a quick guy coming after you? You have
:56:21. > :56:25.to know your horse really well. I don't know her that well. Yesterday,
:56:26. > :56:30.I had a couple down in the jump-off. I was really happy with the first
:56:31. > :56:33.round. She was a bit feisty today. I thought I'd keep her controlled and
:56:34. > :56:39.quiet and relaxed. Paid off in the end. A bit gutted not to have a
:56:40. > :56:43.final win for the crowd and things. It would have in been nice on the
:56:44. > :56:47.last class of the show to finish off on a win. But, my horse jumped
:56:48. > :56:54.great. When you've got such good riders coming behind you, you have
:56:55. > :56:58.to try and put the pressure on. Yeah, just one mistake but the horse
:56:59. > :57:02.jumped great. Yeah, still great to finish third. I'm a little
:57:03. > :57:07.disappointed. You mucking out on Christmas Day? I am, actually. I
:57:08. > :57:14.send all my staff home and I do the horses. I enjoy it. It's nice and
:57:15. > :57:25.quiet in the yard for a change. So, a win for Germany. Daniel Deusser,
:57:26. > :57:30.Equita. In second place, Edwina Tops-Alexander with California.
:57:31. > :57:37.Equal third for Great Britain Scott Brash with Hello Guvnor and the
