:00:19. > :00:38.This is getting better and better. Cristiano Ronaldo! History boys
:00:39. > :00:41.indeed. They have won the cup. He has done it. He has done it.
:00:42. > :00:46.And the football keeps coming over the festive season.
:00:47. > :00:48.Put the shopping on hold for an hour,
:00:49. > :01:01.We talk Merseyside derbies with Jurgen Klopp.
:01:02. > :01:06.It is pressure, of course, but we all love it.
:01:07. > :01:08.He's the new hope for Spurs and England -
:01:09. > :01:16.And you can see what Monk told Mills is the hardest part
:01:17. > :01:23.Explaining to the daughter why we lost the game. That is the hardest
:01:24. > :01:26.bit for that she's quite ruthless. And the ladies of
:01:27. > :01:28.Newcastle love him. We're on an excited Tyneside to hear
:01:29. > :01:31.Matt Ritchie on the Rafaloution. We'll have some of the key midweek
:01:32. > :01:34.goals for you as well, all in the company of Jermaine Jenas
:01:35. > :01:37.and Kevin Kilbane. There was a full Premier League
:01:38. > :01:39.fixture list on Tuesday A quick turnaround for
:01:40. > :01:42.everyone this weekend. Crystal Palace and the leaders
:01:43. > :01:45.Chelsea play in the early game. We'll get the latest
:01:46. > :01:48.from Selhurst Park in just a minute. We're live at Middlesbrough
:01:49. > :01:53.as they take on Swansea. The big one on Sunday is 3rd
:01:54. > :01:55.against 4th as Manchester City We'll feature that shortly
:01:56. > :01:59.but we start with second-placed Liverpool, who face
:02:00. > :02:07.a Merseyside derby on Monday and a first one
:02:08. > :02:25.at Goodison Park for Jurgen Klopp. I love Derbys. I have had a lot in
:02:26. > :02:29.my life. When you are in Germany, the derbies against Bayern. I know
:02:30. > :02:36.how it feels I am really looking forward to it. Everybody would be
:02:37. > :02:41.prepared 100%. Everyone is looking forward. This moment when you get a
:02:42. > :02:45.little bit nervous is absolutely normal. Like an actor in the
:02:46. > :02:50.theatre. The last seconds are not mostly enjoyable but they are part
:02:51. > :02:54.of the attitude, part of the mood you need. If you win everything,
:02:55. > :02:59.good, but it causes you a lot of problems when you lose. It is not
:03:00. > :03:03.that you talk for five weeks about it when you win but very often it is
:03:04. > :03:11.like this when you lose. It is pressure, of course, but we all love
:03:12. > :03:17.it. We want a large stadium, a really emotional crowd, all of that
:03:18. > :03:24.stuff. Most of them probably will be on the Everton side but that is no
:03:25. > :03:30.problem. Our job is to make Goodison Park as quiet as possible.
:03:31. > :03:37.We are not in doubt about the quality. With the young players,
:03:38. > :03:42.like always, I feel it is a good moment when I see them in training,
:03:43. > :03:50.they are always ready. If you ask them, nobody would say, please don't
:03:51. > :03:55.play me in the Derby. They are ready but it is my decision at the end.
:03:56. > :04:01.You should not bring in these young players at this moment to change the
:04:02. > :04:05.game. They need to collect the experience. If something happens
:04:06. > :04:16.this week, maybe they will start and everything is good.
:04:17. > :04:24.27th, 31st, no problem. Completely OK. Then playing again on the second
:04:25. > :04:30.makes no sense. As a football fan I would like to watch football every
:04:31. > :04:34.day. After four weeks, everyone can't see that anymore. You have to
:04:35. > :04:38.accept problems he calls with things like this. Pep Guardiola said
:04:39. > :04:43.exactly the right thing about this. It is not about coming from Europe
:04:44. > :04:47.and saying, let's do different. It is really about what's right and not
:04:48. > :04:53.right. It is part of the game that you need to always be ready. But you
:04:54. > :04:59.need the boys for it and I care about the boys. I know, for me, it
:05:00. > :05:06.is no problem. I can have every day a game, I do not have to run. They
:05:07. > :05:12.have to run. It is city on the 31st and Sunderland on the second.
:05:13. > :05:18.Dealing with pressure is not so different to the normal life. It is
:05:19. > :05:23.being as well prepared as possible. It is not about ignoring the
:05:24. > :05:28.circumstances, it is about using their circumstances. We spoke in the
:05:29. > :05:32.last few weeks about being angry. In a sport, you can be angry and do not
:05:33. > :05:36.have to talk much about motivation and things like this because it is
:05:37. > :05:42.clear they are full of motivation. It is really more about doing the
:05:43. > :05:50.right thing in the right moment. Even in a very emotional atmosphere.
:05:51. > :05:55.He says emotional atmosphere. His only Merseyside derby has been a
:05:56. > :05:59.comfortable win at Anfield. You'll be pretty noisy on Monday night. He
:06:00. > :06:04.knows exactly what he will get when he goes to Goodison on Monday night.
:06:05. > :06:10.We talk so often. We have heard so many Evertonians talking about the
:06:11. > :06:14.listen and the like. The atmosphere will be tremendous on Monday
:06:15. > :06:17.evening, as we saw maybe last week against Arsenal. He will know full
:06:18. > :06:23.well going into this match what it will mean for him and what it will
:06:24. > :06:27.be like. I think he thrives on it. If about his time at Dortmund, as a
:06:28. > :06:34.manager, it is electric. Every game is like a derby. It is crazy. One of
:06:35. > :06:37.the first things he did when he arrived at Liverpool, he pointed out
:06:38. > :06:43.the cop and made them feel important. He knew if he was to have
:06:44. > :06:50.success on the pitch they would have to give him back. He is very strong,
:06:51. > :06:57.he and stands it. At Goodison Park on Monday. That is something he will
:06:58. > :07:04.love. He talked about nurturing the young players. He put up a fight for
:07:05. > :07:08.Karius, his goalkeeper. It is interesting to watch how he has
:07:09. > :07:12.dealt with the goalkeeping situation. Over the years, it is not
:07:13. > :07:17.the first time we have seen this kind of situation. I remember Joe
:07:18. > :07:21.Hart going through similar with Pellegrini having to take out of the
:07:22. > :07:24.limelight little bit. For goalkeepers, it is very difficult
:07:25. > :07:28.when they are suffering with confidence. When you look at the
:07:29. > :07:35.mistakes that Karius has made, it has pretty much cost them six
:07:36. > :07:38.points, if you are honest. It is about Jurgen Klopp nurturing the
:07:39. > :07:42.goalkeeper and understanding he is young and still has a lot of
:07:43. > :07:48.potential. He feels the best thing is to take him away from it. He
:07:49. > :07:53.spoke quite openly about the fixed period. He knows the title could get
:07:54. > :07:59.away from them during the next four, five games. Karius is having a bad
:08:00. > :08:04.time. They got a good win but it was more around the penalty area, even
:08:05. > :08:09.in possession on the ball he was not comfortable. That is why he needed
:08:10. > :08:14.to change it up. One man enjoying the limelight is Adam Lallana. Any
:08:15. > :08:18.cost and Sanchez have been involved in more goals, either scoring or
:08:19. > :08:23.assisting. He is adding goals to his game he did not used to have. He
:08:24. > :08:28.looks comfortable playing deeper. We have seen him in a Liverpool shirt
:08:29. > :08:35.playing wider. Playing deeper has helped him. He has game know-how. He
:08:36. > :08:41.came up through the leagues. He knows when to make his run.
:08:42. > :08:47.Liverpool instantly know they will filter back into position. He is
:08:48. > :08:51.more that kind of player. When he is playing in the wide positions, the
:08:52. > :08:58.onus is on him to create and get into positions. Now he can arrive
:08:59. > :09:03.later. He is the main man. When he arrived at Liverpool, he was
:09:04. > :09:11.fighting with Sturridge, Coutinho, they all wanted to play in the same
:09:12. > :09:15.area of the pitch. He was having to find other areas. Now, Liverpool
:09:16. > :09:20.fans are singing his name. He is walking onto the pitch thinking, I
:09:21. > :09:24.am the man. I will make it happen. That is what he is doing.
:09:25. > :09:27.We'll have a lttle more on the Merseyside derby later,
:09:28. > :09:29.as Kenny Daglish tells Lawro about that classic
:09:30. > :09:37.25 years on, the current Everton vintage were involved in one
:09:38. > :09:40.of the big midweek games, as they took on an Arsenal -
:09:41. > :09:44.unbeaten in the league since the opening weekend.
:09:45. > :09:51.No side have beaten Everton more than Arsenal. A form book suggests
:09:52. > :09:59.the Gunners may find the hosts to their liking once again. Alexis
:10:00. > :10:07.Sanchez sizing it up, going lower, and it goes in. A good ball. It goes
:10:08. > :10:16.in. Header from Coleman. Everton strike. Another good ball in. Even
:10:17. > :10:21.by Williams. His first goal for Everton. A very late sending-off.
:10:22. > :10:29.Phil Jagielka will miss the Merseyside derby on Monday. It is
:10:30. > :10:36.the third time in a row I won as manager. Three times in a row it was
:10:37. > :10:38.about a referee. OK, sorry, Arsenal. We won through the referee of
:10:39. > :10:49.tonight. Sorry. A big win for Everton. You picked
:10:50. > :10:55.out Seamus Coleman because he is driving the team forward at crucial
:10:56. > :11:03.moments. He has taken the armband and I think he is getting better. He
:11:04. > :11:04.has been one of the most consistent full-backs in the Premier League. He
:11:05. > :11:15.has scored some important goals. The celebration as well. He has
:11:16. > :11:20.mature as a player. It was a bit messy for the supporters because it
:11:21. > :11:25.was flat at Goodison. Supporters needed something on the pitch, a
:11:26. > :11:29.spark. This was a late goal scored against Swansea. They score goals at
:11:30. > :11:32.important times when I have needed them maybe the crowd has been
:11:33. > :11:37.turning against them at times because they have not played well on
:11:38. > :11:42.the pitch. Coleman has provided that spark. I have been mightily
:11:43. > :11:48.impressed with him. This season, but the goals and big moment he has
:11:49. > :11:54.produced. He is a player who has taken Everton forward.
:11:55. > :12:01.Everton have been criticised and it has not been great for Ronald Koeman
:12:02. > :12:07.lately. What do they have to do to take the most of home advantage? On
:12:08. > :12:11.Derby day, everything goes out of the window for is you can work on
:12:12. > :12:13.certain things on the training pitch. With the quality that
:12:14. > :12:20.Liverpool possess they will always find ways to create opportunities.
:12:21. > :12:25.That win has done a massive favour. The fans can go in at the end user
:12:26. > :12:29.and be positive on the pitch. That celebration from Coleman and he
:12:30. > :12:33.looked angry. He was a bit like to give something back and we will give
:12:34. > :12:36.you something as well. They will need that against Liverpool.
:12:37. > :12:42.Liverpool are going there in good form. When you are stopping the
:12:43. > :12:55.likes of Lallana, Firmino and main, sometimes there is no play you can
:12:56. > :13:00.put together. -- Mane. Statistics sometimes can be blinding. This is
:13:01. > :13:09.Pep Guardiola's worst start to a managerial spell. Missing Aguero as
:13:10. > :13:12.well. Even the goals must come from elsewhere. What have you made of
:13:13. > :13:21.them at the moment. They are a work in progress. Pep
:13:22. > :13:26.Guardiola is constantly trying to figure out how to get to the players
:13:27. > :13:30.he wants to be in three, four years' time. He is asking players to play a
:13:31. > :13:34.certain Michael. Zabaleta popped up with this goal in midweek. That is
:13:35. > :13:40.not something I think will be a regular occurrence. It was great.
:13:41. > :13:45.You can see the relief on Zabaleta's says. It is all a process. He will
:13:46. > :13:52.have ups and downs. He is a brand-new manager. We are all a bit
:13:53. > :13:56.light, it is by the owner, he has the magic touch.
:13:57. > :14:05.It is a tough league. In the Premier League, you might look at it as a
:14:06. > :14:11.weakness. At the minute, Manchester City are finding it a bit difficult
:14:12. > :14:18.to get to grips with Bardy Ola and where he wants to be. -- Pep
:14:19. > :14:22.Guardiola. I have seen them over the last few weeks. I do not think they
:14:23. > :14:26.have been a great watch. I saw them in the Chelsea game when they should
:14:27. > :14:32.perhaps have been in front. I was at the Burnley match. They still have
:14:33. > :14:36.players you are expecting to kick on through the future. Pep Guardiola
:14:37. > :14:40.has made a lot of changes, bringing the players then you are expecting
:14:41. > :14:44.to be at Manchester City really producing. I do not think it is a
:14:45. > :14:50.great watch. Playing out from the back, yes. What they have done, when
:14:51. > :14:56.they have played well is when they have mixed the game up a bit. That
:14:57. > :15:00.is what I like about teams that may be Pep Guardiola needs to adapt to.
:15:01. > :15:04.Another great one to look forward to. Arsenal have played some great
:15:05. > :15:08.stuff. Unbeaten since the start of the season and then they lose
:15:09. > :15:11.against Everton. It is the first goal they have conceded from a
:15:12. > :15:13.corner all season. Neither of you could work out what they are trying
:15:14. > :15:26.to do. That is how they have been doing it.
:15:27. > :15:32.Mesut Ozil has been picked out. It is not organised. That is organised.
:15:33. > :15:39.What is Sanchez looking at? What is the job of Alex Iwobi? Drop back to
:15:40. > :15:44.cover the post or be more effective. The three Everton players will make
:15:45. > :15:47.a run and you have met Ozil. His responsibility is not the mark so
:15:48. > :15:53.annoyed but you need a block, can he affect him in some sort of way? He
:15:54. > :15:56.is shirking away from the challenge. Such a bad goal to concede
:15:57. > :16:02.considering it came at such a late stage. Is that won the manager plays
:16:03. > :16:08.back to you? They should do because you learn from that. They are partly
:16:09. > :16:12.responsible. Usually, it is drilled into you and a few Mark zonal, you
:16:13. > :16:14.run and stand there and you are in the right spot, it seems they were a
:16:15. > :16:17.little all over the place. Both Manchester City and Arsenal
:16:18. > :16:18.are playing catch-up. Chelsea, at the moment, would
:16:19. > :16:30.definitely get a '10 from Len'! Chelsea are pleased to see the back
:16:31. > :16:34.of September. Can Chelsea save the lead?
:16:35. > :16:39.Comfortable victory for Chelsea, Antonio Conte very much on top. Not
:16:40. > :16:47.in their wildest dreams did Chelsea think it would be so easy. Brilliant
:16:48. > :16:52.goal from Diego Costa! Magnificent material, monumental masterclass
:16:53. > :16:59.from Chelsea. Six successive Premier League wins for Antonio Conte's
:17:00. > :17:02.Chelsea. Victor Moses scores! Very difficult match and important
:17:03. > :17:06.victory. Chelsea turn it around, what a
:17:07. > :17:08.second-half performance this has been!
:17:09. > :17:12.Playing for that ninth league win in a row.
:17:13. > :17:17.Sensational goal! Brilliant play from Diego Costa!
:17:18. > :17:20.Cesc Fabregas! Brilliantly well taken. Ten wins in a row for Antonio
:17:21. > :17:24.Conte table topping Blues. It's Crystal Palace this
:17:25. > :17:25.lunchtime for Chelsea. Let's get the team news
:17:26. > :17:33.from Steve Wilson. Yes, it is a foggy lunchtime in
:17:34. > :17:39.South London, struggling Crystal Palace who have lost seven of their
:17:40. > :17:44.last ten against Chelsea, who have won their last ten. The injury
:17:45. > :17:49.crisis at Crystal Palace continues to make life very difficult for Alan
:17:50. > :17:58.Pardew. The latest to join that list is Mathieu Flamini. Bakary Sako,
:17:59. > :18:03.Conor Wickham among the injured for the Palace manager. They make a
:18:04. > :18:08.couple of changes. Jo Ledley is back in, as is Jason Puncheon who was
:18:09. > :18:13.suspended for the midweek defeat against Manchester United. Two
:18:14. > :18:17.changes for Chelsea, looking to equalise their club record, 11
:18:18. > :18:23.consecutive league victories. Cesc Fabregas and Pedro dropout and in,
:18:24. > :18:29.the many Matt Ritchie and Eden Hazzard. What you would say about
:18:30. > :18:32.Chelsea's starting XI, four have yellow cards, one booking away from
:18:33. > :18:33.a ban. Thank you.
:18:34. > :18:37.They're trying to equal their club record of 11 wins in a row.
:18:38. > :18:42.Arsenal did 14 in a row in the days of the Invincibles.
:18:43. > :18:49.This time last year, Palace was sixth in the division and six then
:18:50. > :18:54.-- since then, 26 points from 35 games, it has been a horrible year.
:18:55. > :19:00.I was at the game against Manchester United, they were too passive. Alan
:19:01. > :19:07.Pardew played is aha upfront alongside Christian Benteke and it
:19:08. > :19:11.did not work. -- Wilfried Zaha. They were far too passive without the
:19:12. > :19:15.ball and they allowed United to build attack after attack. Today,
:19:16. > :19:20.they will be in the faces of Chelsea and this will be more competitive
:19:21. > :19:27.than Wednesday. Taking on a side nobody has been able to prevent.
:19:28. > :19:31.Eden Hazzard is back among the many Matic, Cesc Fabregas is out despite
:19:32. > :19:37.playing well, that side is so impressive. It is so consistent as
:19:38. > :19:40.well. I feel that they are in that lovely groove and they know the
:19:41. > :19:44.weight each other is playing and they have a lot of players in very
:19:45. > :19:48.good form. That thing off Cesc Fabregas come again and the players
:19:49. > :19:54.on the bench, everyone seems happy. No players are sulking, they come in
:19:55. > :19:57.and do a good job and over the festive period, that is massively
:19:58. > :20:01.important, I think they will win that game and I think Palace and
:20:02. > :20:05.their confidence is shot, conceding late goals and set pieces. And
:20:06. > :20:08.playing at home is probably worse for them right now. The big Belgian
:20:09. > :20:11.at the back coming into great form. Alan Shearer was saying a good
:20:12. > :20:23.keeper is worth 10-12 a season, Sunderland had great chances. That
:20:24. > :20:27.is a world-class save and he has gone under the radar because he has
:20:28. > :20:30.not had much to do but as Alan Shearer was saying, it is the saves
:20:31. > :20:34.he has had to make that he is producing, they are the key moments
:20:35. > :20:41.that win titles. He is bang in form at the moment. Chelsea have had an
:20:42. > :20:46.unchanged side for a while but he will have to make changes after
:20:47. > :20:54.Christmas, so we will see variation. Of course, and four players are away
:20:55. > :20:58.from suspension with bookings. One of them will pick up a yellow card
:20:59. > :21:01.and he will have to make changes. But the system stays the same and I
:21:02. > :21:03.am sure the player who comes in will know his job exactly. The system
:21:04. > :21:08.working well, at the moment. Ten points behind Chelsea
:21:09. > :21:11.are the team who went toe to toe for the title with Leicester
:21:12. > :21:13.for much of last season, Tottenham. This season is proving a little
:21:14. > :21:16.tougher, but Dele Alli is still Earlier this week,
:21:17. > :21:20.he was taking part in the launch of the Premier League Kicks Heroes
:21:21. > :21:23.project for the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, which helps youngsters
:21:24. > :21:26.develop their potential. They made a drawing of the man
:21:27. > :21:55.himself, who then sat down Last season, is it fair to say it
:21:56. > :21:59.was a bit of a whirlwind for you, that first full season in the
:22:00. > :22:03.Premier League? Yes, it was crazy, everything happened so fast. I have
:22:04. > :22:07.a lot of people to thank for my success but I need to carry on and
:22:08. > :22:11.build from it and make sure this season finishes better. How would
:22:12. > :22:14.you assess this season so far? It has been tough for me so far this
:22:15. > :22:19.season. Oh, Dele Alli hit the bar! I found
:22:20. > :22:25.my form as well as I did last season, I am not performing as well
:22:26. > :22:28.as I should be. Is it like the tricky album syndrome when a band
:22:29. > :22:32.has an amazing first album and they have to follow it up? Yes, maybe
:22:33. > :22:36.last season people were not as aware of me as a player. Since my first
:22:37. > :22:40.season in the Premier League, I was in league one before and people
:22:41. > :22:45.realise where I play and try to cut me out of the blue -- out of the
:22:46. > :22:49.game. Every player expects that, I thrive on that and I am sure they
:22:50. > :22:53.will do well and will work hard and do as do as well as last season. How
:22:54. > :22:58.would you describe being catapulted from MK Dons into the Premier League
:22:59. > :23:01.not what was that like for you? A lot of things changed, moving from
:23:02. > :23:04.Milton Keynes to London, I thought it would be hard but the boys at
:23:05. > :23:09.Tottenham made it a lot easier for me. A great bunch of boys who
:23:10. > :23:13.settled me in well which was important coming into the Premier
:23:14. > :23:17.League at 90 and fighting for a place. At the start, a lot of people
:23:18. > :23:22.were saying about going out on loan -- 90. As you -- as soon as I said,
:23:23. > :23:27.and wanted to be a Tottenham player and hopefully I did that last
:23:28. > :23:32.season. Such great supporters at Tottenham and the way they helped me
:23:33. > :23:36.settle in, they took to me immediately so I could call
:23:37. > :23:40.Tottenham a home. When you were growing up, who did you aspire to be
:23:41. > :23:45.like, who was your idol? I always said Steven Gerrard, the way he was
:23:46. > :23:49.on the pitch and as a leader and a player not just for Liverpool but
:23:50. > :23:53.for England as well. He is a player I really looked up to. I saw that he
:23:54. > :23:57.went up to Liverpool and you wanted to meet Steven Gerrard but he was
:23:58. > :24:02.asleep, is that true? Yes, there is a bit more behind it but at the time
:24:03. > :24:06.at MK Dons, there was contact with Liverpool before a signed for
:24:07. > :24:09.Tottenham before we had spoken to Tottenham, six months before. I
:24:10. > :24:15.think they knew Steven Gerrard was my hero and they said he would meet
:24:16. > :24:20.me and I got there and take -- and he was asleep. He had a game the
:24:21. > :24:26.next day so I understand. Have you ever spoken to him about that? No!
:24:27. > :24:30.Your manager recently called you a little bit naughty. Are you naughty?
:24:31. > :24:36.E has called me worse! Did he catch on? If it is not a
:24:37. > :24:41.penalty, it is a yellow card for diving. Penalty! There is nothing in
:24:42. > :24:44.that at all. I am a competitive player and there is no point playing
:24:45. > :24:50.if you are not competitive and you want to win games. Nobody wants to
:24:51. > :24:53.be labelled a cheat or somebody and I am sorry if anybody feels that
:24:54. > :24:57.way. And Swansea will feel here that an
:24:58. > :25:01.injustice has been done. I think what he meant by a little
:25:02. > :25:05.bit naughty is it is part of your game, it gives you an edge and that
:25:06. > :25:09.is what the best players have, is it? I do get wound up easy on the
:25:10. > :25:13.pitch and I learned that a lot of season and I spoke to the gaffer and
:25:14. > :25:20.the players. For me as a player and personally, it is important not to
:25:21. > :25:22.lose it out of my game. Back to your Spurs manager, how much credit can
:25:23. > :25:25.he takes for the way you play and you have come through the ranks? He
:25:26. > :25:29.has been massive for me. I cannot thank him enough for how he helped
:25:30. > :25:33.me to come into the Premier League and when I heard Tottenham was
:25:34. > :25:36.interested, I did not think twice. When I thought about leaving Milton
:25:37. > :25:42.Keynes, I wanted a manager with the same sort of philosophy and way to
:25:43. > :25:46.put trust in the kids. You get to play and that is important. The
:25:47. > :25:49.players trust him as a manager and as a person committee has been a
:25:50. > :25:54.massive part of my Premier League career. Is that why the players love
:25:55. > :25:57.him because he is relatable? Yes, you can talk to him about anything
:25:58. > :26:02.and he likes to make you a better person of the pitch which is
:26:03. > :26:07.important. He does not have anybody bad in the changing room letting the
:26:08. > :26:12.team chemistry down. And he is a decent player as well!
:26:13. > :26:20.We have seen the video, does he get involved in training? I am sure that
:26:21. > :26:22.was edited! Does he get involved with training? We have something
:26:23. > :26:28.called boxes and he gets involved with that but I do not know why he
:26:29. > :26:33.gets involved in the ones you have to do a lot of running in! Is that a
:26:34. > :26:41.sly dig at your manager? I might have to end it at that bit! Tell us
:26:42. > :26:49.about the Song Spurs fans saying, you know the one! I I do know, I am
:26:50. > :27:00.not going to say! Tell us the lines. I think it is... We have got Ali.
:27:01. > :27:14.Dele Alli. I just think you understand. He is better than Ozil?
:27:15. > :27:18.We've got Dele Alli. You only cost ?5 million, are you better than
:27:19. > :27:23.Mesut Ozil? That is not for me to decide!
:27:24. > :27:30.I think we can officially confirmed Dele Alli cannot sing, he can do a
:27:31. > :27:34.lot of things! You know him well, he talked about the naughty side of his
:27:35. > :27:39.game which is what Natalie asked him, is he a dive and does it
:27:40. > :27:48.matter? He did dive the other day against Swansea. It has been around
:27:49. > :27:52.for a long time and the referees need more support with it. Players,
:27:53. > :27:56.managers, fans, they will do everything they can to influence a
:27:57. > :28:00.referee's decision. He said he is competitive and he wants to win
:28:01. > :28:04.games. I had been in teams and players and go, why have you not
:28:05. > :28:10.gone down? In that moment, all you want to do is win. He did to dive.
:28:11. > :28:13.At the same time, you cannot have retrospective action because that
:28:14. > :28:18.doesn't help the team playing at that moment. So it is more about
:28:19. > :28:24.that the referees get the support they need at that time so they can
:28:25. > :28:29.go, he has dived, and not give the penalty. It takes it away. I think
:28:30. > :28:33.the diving does matter. I think we have to try some sort of way to try
:28:34. > :28:39.and take it out. What are we are going to do? Retrospective action,
:28:40. > :28:43.at some stage, it has to do. If he goes down for a penalty and that
:28:44. > :28:49.cost Swansea, that does not help Swansea. No, I know that. Still, a
:28:50. > :28:53.ban has the comp. I do think that. The other side of his game he spoke
:28:54. > :28:57.about, I do not want that to change, I want Matt Frei in him and that
:28:58. > :29:01.nasty streak he has in him. Interesting revelation, it could
:29:02. > :29:05.have been a Liverpool player had Steven Gerrard not been sleeping!
:29:06. > :29:11.When you put it like that, it sounds bad! But Steven Gerrard might have
:29:12. > :29:15.had a game and if somebody came to me before a game to see this young
:29:16. > :29:20.lad, I would say, you are having a laugh! I have got a big game
:29:21. > :29:25.tomorrow, EU deal with him! To be fair, he probably did the right
:29:26. > :29:29.thing! He might regret that now! He probably did not know it would turn
:29:30. > :29:36.out like that. Has he been worked out? You were a PFA Young Player of
:29:37. > :29:42.the Year like Dele Alli, that was in 2002, a long time ago! I think Terry
:29:43. > :29:48.Henry was the Young player of the. Did you struggle after winning that
:29:49. > :29:54.award? He is not struggling but people have found him out. There you
:29:55. > :29:57.are! I did struggle a little bit. My issue is more within myself. At that
:29:58. > :30:02.time, I felt if I did what I did the season before, I would have done it
:30:03. > :30:05.again this season after. Whereas I needed to do more than what I did in
:30:06. > :30:09.terms of fitness and work great because so many players look at you
:30:10. > :30:13.and go, I want to be you and take your place, and it makes life very
:30:14. > :30:24.difficult. I think he was being harsh on himself because it is more
:30:25. > :30:27.of a Spurs issue, the team is not playing as well. He is doing all
:30:28. > :30:30.right and if he puts away half the chances he misses which he would be
:30:31. > :30:31.critical of himself about, we could be talking about Dele Alli 90 goals
:30:32. > :30:41.already. He is getting himself into positions
:30:42. > :30:47.and getting himself forward. He is not that far off. He is still doing
:30:48. > :30:54.well. A few weeks ago you had a little dig about Eriksen. I was at
:30:55. > :30:58.the West Ham game and it highlighted an issue I had with Eriksen pulled I
:30:59. > :31:03.did not feel he was getting involved in games enough. He was doing a lot
:31:04. > :31:08.of running without having an actual influence on the team. Whether or
:31:09. > :31:13.not my words have inspired him, I do not know. He has certainly proved
:31:14. > :31:20.over the last few weeks what a good player he is. Last season, he had so
:31:21. > :31:24.much of a creative influence, this season he just seemed flat and was
:31:25. > :31:30.way off the level he was at last season.
:31:31. > :31:33.Tottenham against Burnley will feature on Match of the Day 2
:31:34. > :31:34.which, don't forget, is on Monday night -
:31:35. > :31:41.We've seen one of the standout matches in midweek.
:31:42. > :31:44.The standout performance came from this man.
:31:45. > :31:56.He really was leaping like a Salomon!
:31:57. > :32:06.It has been one of those lights when a decent delivery from a set piece
:32:07. > :32:18.breaks it up. Here he is, Rondon with a goal. Rondon and it is two.
:32:19. > :32:20.Can he find Rondon again? Oh, he has scored again. The Venezuelan has a
:32:21. > :32:31.hat-trick. If you can name the only other
:32:32. > :32:37.Venezuelan to play in the Premier League, I will give you full marks.
:32:38. > :32:44.West Brom take on Manchester United this evening. They are playing some
:32:45. > :32:49.good stuff. They are tough to beat. The bench is getting stronger. Tony
:32:50. > :32:55.Pulis is getting stick from the bands a couple of weeks ago. The
:32:56. > :33:00.last three games at home, they scored four goals, three goals and
:33:01. > :33:04.three goals. They are flying in. For United, it is tricky. The one thing
:33:05. > :33:08.I would say about United where they can handle the aerial threat that
:33:09. > :33:14.West Brom bring to the table. Manchester United are a big,
:33:15. > :33:21.physical side. Rondon is great. He has not consistently got the goals.
:33:22. > :33:27.Throughout the side, they have real leaders in the team. Chris Brunt who
:33:28. > :33:31.are getting him back fit, that is a big one. Morrison, Fletcher. They
:33:32. > :33:38.have created, good players who can play a bit. A really good mixture in
:33:39. > :33:44.the side. Phillips is playing well as well. Manchester United have not
:33:45. > :33:48.lost in the league since they were battered by Chelsea in October. He
:33:49. > :33:53.is finally getting into a place where he knows his best 11. Carrick
:33:54. > :33:58.is giving people like Paul Pogba another new lease of life and the
:33:59. > :34:02.team has more balance than before. They are onto something. I was very
:34:03. > :34:08.impressed in the game against Everton. He is on a run but this is
:34:09. > :34:13.tricky for him. Could be another good game to watch this weekend.
:34:14. > :34:15.Another heavy loss for Swansea means they remain in the bottom three.
:34:16. > :34:19.A visit to Middlesbrough for Bob Bradley's side this afternoon.
:34:20. > :34:25.And Guy Mowbray joins us for a third week in a row.
:34:26. > :34:29.can you preview this match without using the phrase "six-pointer"?
:34:30. > :34:41.Can I go for the other one then? I'll call it a cup final. It is a
:34:42. > :34:46.significant fixture for both sides. It is more of must not lose for
:34:47. > :34:50.Swansea. Boro, as the home team, they have to win to go to Christmas
:34:51. > :34:54.in the best of festive spirits. Might that mean a more attacking
:34:55. > :34:58.approach this afternoon? Only slightly. It is not really the
:34:59. > :35:06.manager's way. He is more Roundhead bank have a late. They must score
:35:07. > :35:09.more goals. Their approach has worked and got them back into the
:35:10. > :35:13.Premier League but it can be slightly frustrating for the Boro
:35:14. > :35:15.fans. They need to get more shots on goal as well because they are bottom
:35:16. > :35:27.of the charts for that as well. Chelsea have some really key games
:35:28. > :35:32.coming up, don't they? This one is followed by West Ham and Boorman at
:35:33. > :35:41.home. To start 2017 they have got Crystal Palace away. On the subject
:35:42. > :35:48.of Christmas and Welsh folk, can we say to all of those making the long
:35:49. > :35:53.trip up from Swansea to Teesside today, a huge well done. They
:35:54. > :35:59.deserve one of these. You are not getting away with your Welsh six
:36:00. > :36:02.pointer. 20 more from him on final score and Match of the Day as well.
:36:03. > :36:04.-- plenty. Another big game at the bottom
:36:05. > :36:23.is the late one today. They have had six consecutive away
:36:24. > :36:28.defeats. At the start of the season it was a magnificent start. They
:36:29. > :36:32.excelled at the start of the season. I did not expect how to be where
:36:33. > :36:42.they are. That is where I expect them to be, in the bottom three at
:36:43. > :36:47.the end of the season, unless there is significant spending. All your
:36:48. > :36:51.old teams are struggling at the moment. Sunderland. David Moyes, you
:36:52. > :37:00.spoke to him. He was saying, had he known what it he knew now about the
:37:01. > :37:07.money that was available, would he have taken the job? He was saying he
:37:08. > :37:11.knew the task he inherited. I think he wanted more money and funds
:37:12. > :37:16.available to him throughout the last transfer window. It was not
:37:17. > :37:21.necessarily there for him. It looks as though he wants to sell players.
:37:22. > :37:26.A lot of difficulties for David Moyes. He needed to get back in. I
:37:27. > :37:31.feel the task is huge at Sunderland. I firmly believe he is the right
:37:32. > :37:36.man. I think he can keep them up. The players have the experience. He
:37:37. > :37:41.still has Jermaine Defoe, who did the business last season. He must
:37:42. > :37:48.score the goal is to keep them up. That is the one thing that Hull do
:37:49. > :37:53.have. Jermaine Defoe guarantees you goals. It depends how many
:37:54. > :37:59.opportunities you can give to him in a game. They brought in new people
:38:00. > :38:03.to give them a lift at the right time last season but this time it
:38:04. > :38:08.seems they are not willing to invest. It will be tough.
:38:09. > :38:11.That match is one of the 3 o'clock matches that Dion Dublin
:38:12. > :38:14.and Martin Keown will be keeping a keen eye on from 4pm on BBC 1.
:38:15. > :38:19.He'll be back for Match of the Day with Danny Murphy and Gary at 10:25.
:38:20. > :38:22.And there's a review of the football year on the Premier League Show
:38:23. > :38:26.15 years ago, Leeds were fighting for the Premier League
:38:27. > :38:28.and in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
:38:29. > :38:29.After many troubled years, they are now 6th
:38:30. > :38:31.in the Championship, under Garry Monk.
:38:32. > :38:43.We dispatched one of the old guard for a chat with the current boss.
:38:44. > :38:58.Gary, a pleasure to meet you. Thanks for having us. Looking around, this
:38:59. > :39:06.really has not changed an awful lot since I was here. You would have
:39:07. > :39:10.done a few miles round here. It is a Premier League structure of a club,
:39:11. > :39:17.Forshaw. 100% of this environment here is perfect to work in. The
:39:18. > :39:22.weather is always like this, every day, in Leeds. Trust me. I have been
:39:23. > :39:28.in Swansea. I think it is the second rainiest city in the UK. It is a
:39:29. > :39:33.great place to live, in and around Leeds. That takes me back a bit. You
:39:34. > :39:44.have played with a few of these, haven't you? Harry Kewell has scored
:39:45. > :39:49.the most spectacular equaliser! Are you the man to take leads back to
:39:50. > :39:55.the Premier League? I am trying. That is the burning ambition of the
:39:56. > :40:02.owners, the fans. Yes, I always have that on my mind. My job is to come
:40:03. > :40:07.in and recognise what we are. At this moment, it is about putting
:40:08. > :40:12.foundations in and getting the club back to where it needs to be. All in
:40:13. > :40:17.all, the ambition will always be there to get back to the Premier
:40:18. > :40:21.League. Like many at the time, I thought your departure from Swansea
:40:22. > :40:25.was harsh. What did you do in the six months before you got back into
:40:26. > :40:30.football? I analysed myself, everything I did. I really enjoyed
:40:31. > :40:33.it. It is the first time in 20 odd years I had an opportunity to have a
:40:34. > :40:40.bit of a break in supple, which was strange. Making sure you are raring
:40:41. > :40:45.to go will stop was it difficult when you got sacked from Swansea
:40:46. > :40:50.question that you gave the club so much of your life. Was it tough? It
:40:51. > :40:53.is never easy. Not something you want to go through. A high
:40:54. > :41:02.percentage of that period was successful. Highly successful. In
:41:03. > :41:06.the majority of it, apart from the ten game period at the end. I was
:41:07. > :41:10.part of that club for many years. Part of the work that went to build
:41:11. > :41:17.it to where it is. I want the fans to have a club that is successful
:41:18. > :41:22.and remains in the Premier League. I wish everyone the best. What is the
:41:23. > :41:25.most difficult part of your day to day job? Explaining to the daughter
:41:26. > :41:31.why we lost the game. That is probably the hardest bit. She is
:41:32. > :41:36.ruthless. Leeds has been in turmoil since my day. It started to go
:41:37. > :41:42.wrong. You cannot blame yourself for everything. Is it now on sure
:41:43. > :41:48.footing and feeling more secure. I was not here then so I do not know
:41:49. > :41:53.the ins and outs with the ownership. The owner here has stabilised the
:41:54. > :42:00.club and try to put it on an even keel. He was losing money, so you
:42:01. > :42:06.have to give him the credit. What will be successful Gary Monk? We
:42:07. > :42:11.need to give the fans something to be proud of. Playing for the shirt
:42:12. > :42:15.100%. I have been two clubs where you have the unity and it is
:42:16. > :42:20.filtered through onto the terraces. It is a club that is united in going
:42:21. > :42:30.forward together. It gives you the best chance. The owner has been
:42:31. > :42:44.banned from football for 18 months but he is appealing that decision.
:42:45. > :42:48.He seems so level-headed. He has stabilised everything. He has a team
:42:49. > :42:52.on the pitch performing for the crowd. When I have played against
:42:53. > :42:56.Leeds and they have been in the championship or been to watch Leeds,
:42:57. > :43:01.there is a negative feel from the supporters regarding the team. Now
:43:02. > :43:07.he has united them all. That is what he has done. Overall I think they
:43:08. > :43:11.will be find this season. He is not looking back at his time with
:43:12. > :43:15.Swansea with sour grapes. He did have the best record of all the
:43:16. > :43:20.Swansea managers in terms of points per game. As Danny mentioned in the
:43:21. > :43:24.interview, we all thought it was a weird one. Managers will go through
:43:25. > :43:28.moments in their career where they have a tough run of games like it is
:43:29. > :43:34.not quite going for them. You would expect, with Gary Monk being at the
:43:35. > :43:39.club for so long, they would have stuck with him in that period. It
:43:40. > :43:43.does not seem to have been the right decision to sack him. We often say
:43:44. > :43:47.this but the championship is so competitive. We are going to talk
:43:48. > :43:51.about Newcastle later and Brighton are playing well. You have to keep
:43:52. > :43:58.your form going. A long period of time. The players are so brutal.
:43:59. > :44:01.Watching last night where Huddersfield played Norwich. It was
:44:02. > :44:08.such a hard game to call. We say it every week. How close it is from
:44:09. > :44:12.first to 16th in that league is a joke. That is the difficulty every
:44:13. > :44:27.manager faces when they go to a championship team. Leeds- Brentford
:44:28. > :44:37.today. They are eighth in the division and he has been sacked and
:44:38. > :44:42.Lola has come in. He has ambitions. -- Zola. They want to be challenging
:44:43. > :44:47.to go to the Premier League. This is the ambition of many other clubs. I
:44:48. > :44:53.know has difficult this championship is.
:44:54. > :45:01.I know where I have to go and I will be working hard for that. Owners can
:45:02. > :45:08.make whatever decisions they like. We see it sometimes I wonder. Temp
:45:09. > :45:15.Astruggled at Watford. Obviously, the West Ham time as well. -- Zola
:45:16. > :45:20.struggled. He can walk away with his head held high, can't he? Listening
:45:21. > :45:23.to some Birmingham City fans, they are baffled, as everyone else is
:45:24. > :45:27.forced when he came to the club it was not in the best places. He has
:45:28. > :45:35.pretty much grabbed it by the scruff of the neck and grab them -- dragged
:45:36. > :45:43.them into chasing the play-offs. It is such a vital time in the season.
:45:44. > :45:46.I am confused. I think it is a disgrace. What chance does that give
:45:47. > :45:50.young, British managers going through the system, getting success
:45:51. > :45:54.are starting to stabilise the club? The turnaround at Birmingham is
:45:55. > :45:56.incredible. It is a disgrace to sack him at this moment. Eye-macro
:45:57. > :45:59.hopefully you'll get another job quickly.
:46:00. > :46:01.Birmingham City will face Newcastle in the third
:46:02. > :46:05.They'll be joined in there by a number of non-league teams
:46:06. > :46:24.Right footed, it has gone a long way, it doesn't make it. The home
:46:25. > :46:29.side to take the lead and the club is facing disaster here, with just
:46:30. > :46:32.five minutes to play. They could not clear their lines and it has been
:46:33. > :46:39.turned into the back post for the non-body macro side.
:46:40. > :46:44.-- for the non-league side. Out wide down the far right-hand side, this
:46:45. > :46:50.is a chance for Constable. Ball into the penalty area and eventually
:46:51. > :46:53.Wilson taps it in, what a goal that was for the Spitfires! Great ball
:46:54. > :47:00.down the right-hand side and Wilson gets his third goal of the season!
:47:01. > :47:07.Dawson, towards the penalty. He has got a penalty! He steps up and puts
:47:08. > :47:17.it in! 2-0 up, Eastleigh. McDonald's. Not
:47:18. > :47:22.the first time McDonald has touched the ball, he takes on Fitzpatrick.
:47:23. > :47:27.He goes inside and it's the ball away. Trying to win it back on the
:47:28. > :47:34.edge of the penalty area. Handball, shocked by the centre forward. It is
:47:35. > :47:40.Taylor with his left foot. The man goes down but the work rush
:47:41. > :47:47.but the referee waves play on. Roberts picks it up. Rockwell scores
:47:48. > :47:52.his first goal for Oxford United. Johnson, fed by Ryan Taylor. Taylor
:47:53. > :47:58.flicks it into the path of Kane Hemmings. 3-0, Oxford United. Kane
:47:59. > :47:59.Hemmings, on as a substitute, puts this tied firmly beyond
:48:00. > :48:01.this tied firmly beyond Macclesfield.
:48:02. > :48:03.So an away trip to League 2 Wycombe Wanderers
:48:04. > :48:06.awaits for Stourbridge - the lowest ranked side left.
:48:07. > :48:07.Whilst Eastleigh go to Championship Brentford.
:48:08. > :48:12.Macclesfield miss out on a trip to Rotherham.
:48:13. > :48:15.Let's have a double dip in the Championship this week,
:48:16. > :48:17.where Newcastle fans are hoping for a quick return
:48:18. > :48:23.And Mark Clemmitt has been to see one of their stars.
:48:24. > :48:39.If I had said to last Christmas that Welborn Slater, you would be living
:48:40. > :48:44.and working in the City, what would you have said?
:48:45. > :48:51.I would have loved, it has happened so quickly but is delighted to be
:48:52. > :48:55.here and enjoying it. -- I would have laughed. Any worries about
:48:56. > :49:00.dropping down a division? It crossed my mind. You work hard all your
:49:01. > :49:04.career to play at the top level and with Bournemouth, we achieved that.
:49:05. > :49:08.As a kid, you dream of playing big stadiums. With thousands of fans.
:49:09. > :49:13.That was something Newcastle offered and the support the season has been
:49:14. > :49:19.incredible. At home, 52,000 every week. And away, as soon as it has
:49:20. > :49:22.gone on sale, it has sold out and the lads struggle to get tickets for
:49:23. > :49:26.family and friends. When you move to a new City as a player, do you get
:49:27. > :49:33.among states and visit places like the Baltic and immerse yourself?
:49:34. > :49:39.Immerse yourself in the history and culture. You have to buy into the
:49:40. > :49:44.sort of place as well. You have to make a home here. We have done that,
:49:45. > :49:53.to be honest. What a strike! You won. Spurs after
:49:54. > :49:58.that goal against Sunderland, how many times has been dragged out?
:49:59. > :50:02.Yes, that was a nice ice breaker with the fans, a Lott said to me,
:50:03. > :50:06.you are a legend already for the goal against Sunderland. Hopefully,
:50:07. > :50:10.I can score those for Newcastle. What people might not realise is the
:50:11. > :50:15.extent of the rougher revolution, what has he done for you and how
:50:16. > :50:19.daunting was it to step into a Rafael Benitez dressing room,
:50:20. > :50:24.Champions League and Europa League and World Championships and Cup
:50:25. > :50:29.winner? He has been great with me. What has he done for you? Still, a
:50:30. > :50:37.work in progress. Developing my game. At previous clubs, I have been
:50:38. > :50:42.more of a midfielder. I would say in sort of football old score terms, I
:50:43. > :50:47.was more of a wide man. Here, we play with a nine and a ten. And I
:50:48. > :50:51.need to run behind more which is not something I have been used to. You
:50:52. > :50:57.must feel on top of the world at the moment. Baby this year, your move to
:50:58. > :51:01.a big club. Playing in front of a lot of people. A fixture in the
:51:02. > :51:06.Scotland side, life is coming together. Yes, it is a lot of hard
:51:07. > :51:12.work and guidance from good people. So hopefully, a successful part of a
:51:13. > :51:15.successful time for the club. That is my next goal.
:51:16. > :51:17.And if you thought, how did Matt Ritchie
:51:18. > :51:19.manage to do an interview on the Millennium Bridge
:51:20. > :51:21.in Newcastle without being asked for an autograph?
:51:22. > :51:32.This lot were around for sometime and he signed a lot of autographs
:51:33. > :51:35.and he passed on Merry Christmas wishes. A thoroughly young man.
:51:36. > :51:53.way or you don't play, but his way is the right way.
:51:54. > :52:00.You just keep doing it as a player. At the top of the league, things
:52:01. > :52:06.going great, you buy into what the manager is asking you. If it slips
:52:07. > :52:09.away, it you question it. Benitez is so experienced, it is a privilege
:52:10. > :52:16.for those players to be managed by him. This man has got European cups
:52:17. > :52:19.and been at the top clubs in Europe and to come down a division is a
:52:20. > :52:23.massive signal to the players and that will have given them the
:52:24. > :52:28.confidence straightaway. First day of the season. The goal is to go
:52:29. > :52:32.straight back up. That is why I would imagine from the perspective
:52:33. > :52:37.of Matt Ritchie, to go from a Premier League side to a Champions
:52:38. > :52:41.League shipside, it is easier. And contracts as well, he is going to a
:52:42. > :52:46.huge club. Benitez has obviously had to sell him where he expects the
:52:47. > :52:51.club to be in five years and it is such a big club. The North East, I
:52:52. > :52:56.cannot describe how big the club is within the North East at Jermaine
:52:57. > :52:59.has played, I have played in the North East, it is football or
:53:00. > :53:05.nothing. They are embracing him at the moment and the team, which is
:53:06. > :53:09.great. He would not have been on that bridge last year when they were
:53:10. > :53:12.about to get relegated because somebody would have thrown him off
:53:13. > :53:17.at! When you are winning, the momentum the fans give you, 52,000
:53:18. > :53:20.every week which is what they are getting, it is like having an extra
:53:21. > :53:24.player. He was instrumental last season.
:53:25. > :53:27.He had a hand in both Bournemouth goals in their Premier League win
:53:28. > :53:30.The first time they beat them since 1958.
:53:31. > :53:34.How do you see the South Coast derby going tomorrow?
:53:35. > :53:43.I was at this game and it was a great atmosphere. Zeneca folk they
:53:44. > :53:47.had also just signed. It was a great atmosphere, the witness that game at
:53:48. > :53:48.Bournemouth. I think the way they are playing, momentum is with them.
:53:49. > :53:51.Good stuff this season. Kenny Dalglish had a spell
:53:52. > :53:53.in charge on Tyneside, but his glory years were at Anfield,
:53:54. > :53:56.where he took the club Back in 1991, they were top
:53:57. > :54:04.of the league and played Everton Dalglish has been telling
:54:05. > :54:21.Lawro how a crazy match The most important derby.
:54:22. > :54:28.Eventually, you decided that was enough. Did you know before that
:54:29. > :54:32.game? Dip -- yes. Did you? I was thinking, I think I need a rest
:54:33. > :54:38.here. During the game, I was going to make a change and put an extra
:54:39. > :54:44.man at the back and try and hang on, but I went, not sure. OK. And then I
:54:45. > :54:50.thought, if you are not making decisions, it you go.
:54:51. > :54:56.Beardsley! Deflected off the goalkeeper!
:54:57. > :55:12.He scored some brilliant goals and some terrible goals!
:55:13. > :55:19.And it is a goal! He scores his second two. Rush. He
:55:20. > :55:29.has done it again. Tony Carty might get one now! Unbelievable! And it is
:55:30. > :55:37.in! It was a mad game. We were in front
:55:38. > :55:46.anyway. Unbelievable!
:55:47. > :55:50.A moment for thought. Standing ovation, and a match which will be
:55:51. > :55:58.remembered as long as the FA Cup is We thought nothing this week could
:55:59. > :56:02.be more sensational than the eight goal thriller between Everton and
:56:03. > :56:03.Liverpool. Kenny Dalglish's resignation yesterday proved us
:56:04. > :56:10.wrong. Because you had been in the
:56:11. > :56:14.limelight, did you need a rest, because you had dealt with the
:56:15. > :56:17.pressure? I don't know the reasons. But when you come to that point, and
:56:18. > :56:22.it might have been a little bit forced by the way. It was not fair
:56:23. > :56:26.on anyone, myself or the club, for me to carry on if you cannot make a
:56:27. > :56:30.decision or you are hesitant about making your decision. You can always
:56:31. > :56:35.make a decision but a successful manager makes a good decision. If
:56:36. > :56:38.you are hesitant, it is not going to be a good decision. So the best
:56:39. > :56:43.thing for everybody was for me to take a break. At the end of the
:56:44. > :56:48.season, who knows, it might have been different.
:56:49. > :56:55.It has been an absolutely horrendous week for Liverpool. Congratulations
:56:56. > :57:03.to Everton, winning by 1-0. Sorry, I was just having a chat!
:57:04. > :57:06.Trying to correct the fact is that it was a fourth-round replay, it was
:57:07. > :57:09.the fifth round, I take responsibility!
:57:10. > :57:15.The season before that was the last time Liverpool won the league!
:57:16. > :57:21.25 years. The blue half have been waiting a bit longer! It has been a
:57:22. > :57:25.barren spell, especially Liverpool, you see the way the Premier League
:57:26. > :57:29.and the investment they have but then, they have got big players and
:57:30. > :57:33.spend big money and not found the winning formula. That game does
:57:34. > :57:38.stand out, you remember the John Barnes Keller, everybody does. He is
:57:39. > :57:44.my hero, I remember that! When he popped up with that on his right
:57:45. > :57:47.foot, phenomenal! Some of the girls were comical but the atmosphere and
:57:48. > :57:52.the standing ovation at the end, valiant! I told you about the
:57:53. > :57:56.Venezuelan player, the other player was Fernando Amorebieta. I knew
:57:57. > :58:02.that. Does all your friends with that later!
:58:03. > :58:08.Dont forget, it's Sports Personality tomorrow night
:58:09. > :58:12.And the winner of the 1985 Overseas Sports Personality
:58:13. > :58:14.of the Year takes on Lawro in predictions this week.
:58:15. > :58:19.No football next Saturday, as it's Christmas Eve,
:58:20. > :58:26.We leave you with the Man of the Match from midweek -
:58:27. > :58:27.the terminally ill five-year-old Sunderland fan Bradley Lowery.
:58:28. > :58:30.His smile lit up the Stadium of Light on Wednesday.
:58:31. > :59:04.We use the word is brave and fight in football, Bradley Lowery gives
:59:05. > :59:06.them real morning -- meaning. We wish him and his family all the love
:59:07. > :59:15.for the weeks and months ahead. You are charged with
:59:16. > :59:26.the murder of Mrs Emily French. I'm back.
:59:27. > :59:29.Who are you? The Doctor.
