:00:39. > :00:43.A huge thank you to Eilidh Barbour for seat-sitting while I was off

:00:44. > :00:50.It's 107 hours before the transfer window closes.

:00:51. > :00:53.These two are going nowhere - at least for the next half an hour.

:00:54. > :01:08.Hull City's Jake Livermore tells Jermaine about his darkest days.

:01:09. > :01:15.The mental state I was in needed addressing. It's something a lot

:01:16. > :01:17.deeper than that that I needed to get off my chest.

:01:18. > :01:20.The prodigal son - Downing on going back to the Boro.

:01:21. > :01:28.Lot of people frowned on it, saying I was at a decent Premier League

:01:29. > :01:31.club in West Ham. It was a risk but I'm back with my home-town club in

:01:32. > :01:32.the Premier League so it worked out well.

:01:33. > :01:35.And "Trott"-enham Hotspur - is Spurs fan Laura on track

:01:36. > :01:37.We'll also hear from Everton's Kevin Mirallas.

:01:38. > :01:59.But this is how the Premier League weekend looks...

:02:00. > :02:02.Hull have started the season with two wins from two,

:02:03. > :02:04.and for Jake Livermore, it's now 15 months since

:02:05. > :02:08.The midfielder has been telling former Spurs

:02:09. > :02:24.teammate Jermaine Jenas the full story.

:02:25. > :02:31.FA Cup, it's what kids dream of. Playing, be involved in those sorts

:02:32. > :02:36.of games. It's always disappointing to lose a final and what have you,

:02:37. > :02:41.but there has to be some consolation to be expecting my first son.

:02:42. > :02:49.Explain to us your feelings after that FA Cup final. One way of

:02:50. > :02:56.putting it is, it should have been the best weekend of my life, really.

:02:57. > :03:03.Regardless of the result. We all went back to a do at the Hotel. And

:03:04. > :03:04.from there I went straight to the hospital where my partner was in

:03:05. > :03:22.labour. It spiralled out of control. It's a situation you never wish upon

:03:23. > :03:29.anyone. To lose your child, lose your son, in a scenario which should

:03:30. > :03:35.be all under control, and was under control at one point, it makes it

:03:36. > :03:43.that much harder to deal with. But it should have been such a glorious,

:03:44. > :03:52.happy time for everyone. Everyone was excited. My team-mates, family.

:03:53. > :04:00.To go to that, it was tragic. What were those days like immediately

:04:01. > :04:05.following that moment? What I found difficult was, I think, the timing,

:04:06. > :04:09.because it was the end of the season. With your day to day life at

:04:10. > :04:15.training, seeing the boys, people can pick up on your behaviour. They

:04:16. > :04:19.pick up... They know what's happened. But it was the end of the

:04:20. > :04:28.season and everyone I would normally turn to, like my parents, Park,

:04:29. > :04:35.grandparents, whoever it might be. Everyone around was affected, in the

:04:36. > :04:40.family. It was time for me to step up and be that rock of everyone

:04:41. > :04:44.else. Hull City suspended Jake Livermore. The player tested

:04:45. > :04:50.positive for cocaine. At this point he must be feeling pretty tracked

:04:51. > :04:54.with regards where you can turn to for help. -- pretty tracked. Would

:04:55. > :05:02.you say the drugs were you owe me escape at the time? -- pretty

:05:03. > :05:07.trapped. Yes. First and foremost, and you have known me longer than

:05:08. > :05:20.most. It's so far from me as a person, and my traits. -- and my

:05:21. > :05:27.family traits. The drugs were a problem. And God works in mysterious

:05:28. > :05:33.ways. I think that was my get out of jail free card. This kid needs help.

:05:34. > :05:38.At that point nobody knew. That must have been so frustrating for you at

:05:39. > :05:43.that particular point. Coming back now, I almost felt so relieved. I

:05:44. > :05:47.remember putting my hands behind my head and laying back in the

:05:48. > :05:53.manager's office. I remember him looking at me as if to think, are

:05:54. > :06:03.you serious? It could be two years, four years. At that point it was, I

:06:04. > :06:11.don't care! At least people know. The mental state I was in needed

:06:12. > :06:14.addressing. Like I say, the drugs were irrelevant, drink was

:06:15. > :06:17.irrelevant, performances were irrelevant. It was something a lot

:06:18. > :06:22.deeper than that that I needed to get off my chest. You say I was too

:06:23. > :06:29.strong to talk about it or not strong enough to talk about it, but

:06:30. > :06:32.either way, it didn't come out. How did you feel after the announcement

:06:33. > :06:37.that it would be put to the side and you could almost get back to doing

:06:38. > :06:46.what you love? I think once it all came to light, and word started

:06:47. > :06:54.getting around, the reasons behind why you'd do such a foolish and

:06:55. > :06:58.desperate thing, and I prefer to say desperate, then I started to get

:06:59. > :07:06.support from those close to me. It's only once the scenario has happened

:07:07. > :07:13.is that you realise who is there, and who it would benefit to speak

:07:14. > :07:19.to. The FA and the PSA, once it all came to light, have been nothing but

:07:20. > :07:26.supportive. And that's something that I would urge, any trouble that

:07:27. > :07:31.young players have, go and use those people, talk to those people. That's

:07:32. > :07:38.something that over the next few months I will continue to do. You

:07:39. > :07:45.have had another baby now. How are you dealing with fatherhood? Late

:07:46. > :07:52.nights? Yeah! A few late nights. He's not the best sleeper in the

:07:53. > :07:58.world. It's fantastic, you know? It's what it's all about. I've been

:07:59. > :08:03.generally just a happier person within myself. I think that's shown

:08:04. > :08:07.on the field as well. Going from not being able to play with a smile on

:08:08. > :08:15.my face for a little while, and now it's finally coming out. Thanks for

:08:16. > :08:18.talking to us. Thank you. Really good to listen to that. And some

:08:19. > :08:24.rare honesty from a top football as well. Sometimes we all bank

:08:25. > :08:28.governing bodies over the head, but they clearly made a wise decision

:08:29. > :08:35.there, taking account of what he has been through and he's really turning

:08:36. > :08:38.things around now. He is, that's a really strong, honest interview. The

:08:39. > :08:44.side of footballer you rarely get to see. He regrets everything he has

:08:45. > :08:47.done, he let people down, but when that happens then you realise who is

:08:48. > :08:56.there for you as an individual, and who can get you out of the situation

:08:57. > :09:00.you are in. He mentions the FA and PFA, and they will always be there

:09:01. > :09:05.to help us out. They have always been there for me and Jake obviously

:09:06. > :09:09.needed them. The club were there as well. The club helped him after they

:09:10. > :09:12.knew about it. Steve Bruce almost felt a bit embarrassed, he said,

:09:13. > :09:16.that he didn't know enough about Jake Livermore to know what he was

:09:17. > :09:21.going through, and that was a regret from his time there. Can the

:09:22. > :09:23.dressing room be a sharing environment on occasions? We know it

:09:24. > :09:28.can be brutal but can you find people to talk to? I think once it's

:09:29. > :09:32.out there players are very responsive. But the problem is in

:09:33. > :09:36.getting it out in the first place. It shows people that he might have a

:09:37. > :09:39.sign of weakness or vulnerability. As a footballer you are trained not

:09:40. > :09:46.to show that, because you are playing for your position. You don't

:09:47. > :09:51.want to show that emotional side for your image. You can only imagine

:09:52. > :09:56.what he's going through. It must've been horrendous for him. But like

:09:57. > :10:01.Dion said, the support has been hugely beneficial for him. He and

:10:02. > :10:05.Hull been playing well this season. Playing against Manchester United.

:10:06. > :10:10.He's almost playing a centre-half roll now. Can they win a third on

:10:11. > :10:16.the trot? They can. Probably going to the hardest place, playing

:10:17. > :10:20.against the team I think we'll be going for the championship this

:10:21. > :10:24.year. But the way Hull have set up, very difficult to score goals

:10:25. > :10:28.against. Mike Phelan has done a great job. They will work very hard

:10:29. > :10:32.and be in Man United's faces all through this game. The only way they

:10:33. > :10:36.can win this game is through sheer concentration. If they switch off,

:10:37. > :10:41.they will get beaten, hands down. Maybe a small squad is the future.

:10:42. > :10:44.13 is enough! Now, if you were watching our

:10:45. > :10:47.new Premier League Show on Thursday night, then you'd have seen

:10:48. > :10:49.Gary Lineker's interview with Liverpool boss Jurgen

:10:50. > :10:57.Klopp. It included a little geography

:10:58. > :11:04.lesson. You have a map here. That's my specific German... That's not

:11:05. > :11:07.Germany. It's an England match for German managers because I have no

:11:08. > :11:11.idea. I know nearly all the clubs but don't know where they are. So if

:11:12. > :11:17.you tell me where Norwich is there, I would have believed. Now I know.

:11:18. > :11:21.You know where Leicester is? Yes. I knew some people who lived there

:11:22. > :11:25.before they became champions. Nottingham, I know because of Robin

:11:26. > :11:28.Hood. There are a few tricky ones. Tottenham Hotspur. You might

:11:29. > :11:30.struggle to find that one. Well, the map clearly worked

:11:31. > :11:33.as Klopp and Liverpool have found their way to White Hart

:11:34. > :11:43.Lane this lunchtime, They got here all right but there

:11:44. > :11:47.might be trouble ahead on the road for Jurgen Klopp who seems to be in

:11:48. > :11:50.fighting something of a battle of wills with the England striker

:11:51. > :11:56.Daniel Sturridge, who said this week he wasn't happy playing wide. Today

:11:57. > :12:02.at White Hart Lane, he's not playing at all, on the substitutes' bench.

:12:03. > :12:05.The return of Sadio Mane means Sturridge misses out, Firmino and

:12:06. > :12:10.Coutinho making up the front three. James Milner continues at left-back,

:12:11. > :12:14.preferred again to Alberto Moreno. A different story for Harry Kane.

:12:15. > :12:18.Vincent Janssen drops to the bench for Tottenham with Dele Alli coming

:12:19. > :12:23.in. That allows the Spurs England man Harry Kane to play at the number

:12:24. > :12:27.nine position, the focal point of the attack. You can listen to that

:12:28. > :12:33.on five live later. Interesting news about Sturridge. Both teams like a

:12:34. > :12:38.high pressing, intense game. Liverpool have scored lots of goals

:12:39. > :12:42.will stop the game against Arsenal was incredibly entertaining, great

:12:43. > :12:46.performance. Today I like Spurs, I like the way they play and they are

:12:47. > :12:50.equally comfortable pressing teams as well as keeping the ball and

:12:51. > :12:55.being patient with a slow build-up. I think they have more variety to

:12:56. > :13:00.their game than Liverpool. All round I think the Spurs quality is also

:13:01. > :13:05.slightly better than Liverpool. I want to see Daniel Sturridge on the

:13:06. > :13:10.pitch. That's what I want. I think it's an absolute waste not having

:13:11. > :13:14.him up front being the number nine and scoring goals for Liverpool. On

:13:15. > :13:18.the other hand, he is fit and moaning about playing. You are

:13:19. > :13:23.saying he shouldn't be doing that? You can't moan about it. If you're

:13:24. > :13:27.getting picked, playing for Liverpool, you can't moan. That's my

:13:28. > :13:32.mentality. If you are not fit, you want to play. And when you play, you

:13:33. > :13:36.moan. That doesn't work! Daniel Sturridge has to say to himself, I

:13:37. > :13:41.need to play games, doesn't matter where it is. If he plays, he will

:13:42. > :13:46.score goals, Liverpool will be a better side and he will and go on to

:13:47. > :13:51.score 20 of drive goals. He is easily one of best. Liverpool are

:13:52. > :13:58.not in Europe this season but Tottenham are.

:13:59. > :14:00.Tottenham were in Thursday's Champions League draw.

:14:01. > :14:03.They're in Group E and will play their home games at Wembley.

:14:04. > :14:05.Arsenal start their Group A campaign with a visit to PSG.

:14:06. > :14:07.Leicester make their Champions League debut in Group G

:14:08. > :14:09.which features Porto, Club Brugge and FC Copenhagen.

:14:10. > :14:13.A battle of Britain looms for Celtic and Manchester City,

:14:14. > :14:16.and Barcelona's presence means a return to the Nou Camp

:14:17. > :14:26.Let's talk about that group. I feel sorry for Celtic! Manchester City

:14:27. > :14:30.permanently get a tough Champions League draw. It will be a

:14:31. > :14:35.fascinating watch. It will be great, some really good matches. Sometimes

:14:36. > :14:38.Celtic surprise people, coming up with the performance, and they have

:14:39. > :14:48.done it against Barcelona before. It's a great group. City against

:14:49. > :14:53.Barcelona is the big one. We understand it will be City and

:14:54. > :14:58.Barcelona, and Celtic as well. But Parkhead, I've played there and it

:14:59. > :15:03.can be quite intimidating, I will put it that way! Claudio Bravo

:15:04. > :15:05.against his old team as well. From a Leicester perspective, you were

:15:06. > :15:08.there last season. How will they look at that because their top

:15:09. > :15:12.seeding has given them a decent group in the Champions League. I

:15:13. > :15:16.think it's an incredible group for them. I think there will be a sense

:15:17. > :15:20.of a bit of disappointment that they didn't get one of the big names. But

:15:21. > :15:24.on the other hand that will have subsided quickly. They will have

:15:25. > :15:28.analysed the group and think, Porto are a very good team, winning the

:15:29. > :15:31.Champions League not long ago, but the rest of them, Leicester have a

:15:32. > :15:35.good opportunity of getting through the group. Arsenal fans have been

:15:36. > :15:39.complaining for a long time that their team have not been signing

:15:40. > :15:46.players and they've now spent ?90 million! It's two players by

:15:47. > :15:52.Wednesday. They will be smiling, looking forward to better days.

:15:53. > :15:54.The Champions League starts next month but before that...

:15:55. > :15:56.Gary's full interview with Jurgen Klopp is available

:15:57. > :15:59.to watch on iPlayer as part of The Premier League Show -

:16:00. > :16:01.we'll be on there too from midnight tonight.

:16:02. > :16:03.Jacqui Oatley will have news of Spurs v Liverpool

:16:04. > :16:07.Garth Crooks and Kevin Kilbane are in the studio.

:16:08. > :16:09.And Mr Lineker has highlights of all eight Premier League games

:16:10. > :16:13.in the company of Alan Shearer and Ruud Gullit.

:16:14. > :16:15.One of those eight matches sees Everton take

:16:16. > :16:21.It's been a summer of change on the blue half of Merseyside.

:16:22. > :16:23.Amongst those sensing a bright future is their Belgian

:16:24. > :16:48.That is a brilliant goal. Everton have won a trophy for the past 25

:16:49. > :16:53.years and to win a trophy you need the best players. With the new

:16:54. > :16:57.manager, new chairman, when you sign new players and have a lot of good

:16:58. > :17:16.players, you need to play well and score. Nice work from Everton! After

:17:17. > :17:19.my goal the team played well. I like to play fast. Running a lot, keeping

:17:20. > :17:39.possession. With David Moyes it is a bit different, he knew it was

:17:40. > :17:46.difficult for me. But he knew me and believed in me. And by a manager

:17:47. > :17:52.says that you have confidence. Lukaku shows great strength and goes

:17:53. > :18:00.on. Lukaku! Brilliant goal. Every year you want to score more goals.

:18:01. > :18:05.Last season I scored 25 goals. All players are hoping he will score

:18:06. > :18:13.more this season. Everton want to win trophies. And if you want to win

:18:14. > :18:17.trophies it is important for that. I signed up for the trophy and I hope

:18:18. > :18:20.this will be the best season for Everton. The fans need that. The

:18:21. > :18:32.club needs that. A number of new faces

:18:33. > :18:49.at Everton this summer, There is with excitement now. That

:18:50. > :18:53.has coincided with the new ownership at Everton as well, they're looking

:18:54. > :18:58.to build something special. Ronald Koeman has said it is a two-year

:18:59. > :19:03.process to turn the squad around, into the team that he feels is his

:19:04. > :19:09.own. There is already a response from the players, Leighton Baines

:19:10. > :19:14.saying it is a healthy respect for the manager. He is organised. And

:19:15. > :19:23.they're fitter than last season even though they're only supposedly 70%

:19:24. > :19:29.fit right now. A slight little dig at last season but it seems to be a

:19:30. > :19:34.happy camper. What about Lukaku, he will be there for at least another

:19:35. > :19:39.season? I'm pleased for him, a very good centre forward. He's one of

:19:40. > :19:46.those players, he can be unplayable when he is on song. He has got to be

:19:47. > :19:52.mentally stronger and hold the ball better. If that happens he will get

:19:53. > :19:57.a big move, Lukaku, if he can score some goals. It is all about mental

:19:58. > :20:06.strength. So things are looking up for Everton.

:20:07. > :20:08.enjoyed that winning feeling last Saturday,

:20:09. > :20:16.as the Premier League brought us drama from start to finish.

:20:17. > :20:25.Sean Dyche and his team celebrate their first victory back at the

:20:26. > :20:32.highest level. One of the most expressive and emotional managers on

:20:33. > :20:36.the touchline. Watford lead! Antonio Conte and his men are back level.

:20:37. > :20:39.So Chelsea leaving it late, but the ever punctual Guy Mowbray

:20:40. > :20:46.has arrived at Stamford Bridge nice and early.

:20:47. > :20:49.Perhaps not been as eye-catching as the Manchester clubs,

:20:50. > :20:56.but Conte's Chelsea are getting the job done?

:20:57. > :21:04.Yes, and thank you for bringing the Brazilian sunshine back with you!

:21:05. > :21:08.Late winners in both games scored by Diego Costa, and some would have

:21:09. > :21:14.argued he should not have been on the pitch. It will not ultimately

:21:15. > :21:18.come down to luck with Antonio Conte in charge, he's all about hard work

:21:19. > :21:24.and cold hard tactics. He has used all three substitutions in both

:21:25. > :21:30.games to win games, to change games. Chelsea can only improve from this

:21:31. > :21:35.point. No European football might be hard to stomach but for Liverpool

:21:36. > :21:44.three years ago it won the title for them. Chelsea had an impressive win

:21:45. > :21:48.last week. But slightly tainted by comments from Andre Gray which have

:21:49. > :21:52.resurfaced for years after he put them on social media. That has

:21:53. > :21:56.attracted death -- attention through the week. Yes, it is a shame for

:21:57. > :22:01.Burnley, a personal shame also for the player, he now has until

:22:02. > :22:06.Wednesday to respond to the charge. Burnley have been quick to back him,

:22:07. > :22:10.saying he has grown up a lot in the four years that have passed. That is

:22:11. > :22:13.a long time and they say they can only comment on the excellent

:22:14. > :22:20.attitude he has shown in his time with the club. It is then up to the

:22:21. > :22:26.FA to act in next midweek and whoever -- whatever way they act, it

:22:27. > :22:30.will upset someone. If there is any positive, it is to remind not just

:22:31. > :22:33.footballers but all of us that whatever you put out their stays out

:22:34. > :22:44.there and could come back to bite you. So try to play nice. Enjoy the

:22:45. > :22:48.game today. And that game is at three o'clock today.

:22:49. > :22:50.Chelsea v Burnley is at 3pm, whilst tomorrow

:22:51. > :22:53.Match of the Day 2 Extra returns from 12.15 on BBC2 and 5Live.

:22:54. > :22:55.Chappers will be back with Match of the Day 2

:22:56. > :22:59.And I'll be along with a Focus transfer deadline special

:23:00. > :23:04.Middlesbrough face West Brom on Sunday and no doubt they'll

:23:05. > :23:07.still be on a high after last week's win at Sunderland.

:23:08. > :23:17.A particularly sweet one for the local lad, Stewart Downing.

:23:18. > :23:30.It is a good one, it is a very good one!

:23:31. > :23:34.Middlesbrough win... Having been with the club when they were

:23:35. > :23:39.relegated seven years ago, how much personal satisfaction have you got

:23:40. > :23:44.from being back in the Premier League? A lot of satisfaction,

:23:45. > :23:49.getting back in the Premier League is a big thing. Leaving it under

:23:50. > :23:54.relegation in 2009 was not a great way to go out. So I'm pleased for

:23:55. > :23:59.everyone and personally for me. Did it feel like a risk at the time to

:24:00. > :24:06.drop down a division? It did, a lot of people frowned upon it, leaving a

:24:07. > :24:11.decent Premier League club in West town. It was a risk. But I was

:24:12. > :24:17.willing to take it. I'm back in my hometown and in the Premier League.

:24:18. > :24:23.Looking back on last season, there were two offence, the closure of the

:24:24. > :24:29.Redcar steel plant and the death of the legendary commentator Ali

:24:30. > :24:36.Brownlie. How much did they reignite and bond the players with the

:24:37. > :24:45.supporters? Ali Brownlie was a bubbly character, great to have

:24:46. > :24:50.around. The man was an enormous local legend. More popular than

:24:51. > :24:58.probably the players in the area, he was so well thought. It sad news.

:24:59. > :25:01.And with the steelworks, it was a massive thing, I know a lot of

:25:02. > :25:06.friends and family who lost their jobs. It all came together and we

:25:07. > :25:11.kicked on. Things like that can spur you on. There was a moment in March

:25:12. > :25:16.when everyone wondered what was going on, the manager on gardening

:25:17. > :25:21.leave for a game. Is that now completely put to bed? Completely

:25:22. > :25:27.gone. We were unbeaten in ten, 11 games. It was a good decision in the

:25:28. > :25:31.end, we kept the manager, he has built the squad again this summer

:25:32. > :25:35.with new signings. And things have worked out well in the end. Have the

:25:36. > :25:41.quality of those signings and the names that have come in, as it

:25:42. > :25:46.surprised you that the club has gone again question mark it did not

:25:47. > :25:50.surprise me in terms of the calibre of players. It is the first year

:25:51. > :26:05.back in the Premier League, so maybe a little bit. We had some big

:26:06. > :26:09.signings. Victor, his CV speaks for himself. He can persuade people to

:26:10. > :26:14.come to this clap. I have played with a lot of big-name players some

:26:15. > :26:23.years ago. It makes me feel a bit old! You're the elder statesman now!

:26:24. > :26:30.I'm just 32. I might be old in football terms! He has got the best

:26:31. > :26:37.handshake in the business! Another one of your old teams. Stewart took

:26:38. > :26:42.the decision to drop down and it seems to be paying off. There is a

:26:43. > :26:45.lot of excitement around. Seven years since they were last in the

:26:46. > :26:49.Premier League, the club has an enormous amount of potential. Over

:26:50. > :26:53.ten years in the Premier League when I was there. And ashamed that they

:26:54. > :26:59.went down. But I think it was a gutsy move to move back. Stewart is

:27:00. > :27:02.Middlesbrough through and through, he was always going to go back to

:27:03. > :27:06.Middlesbrough. The chance to go back to his home team and the opportunity

:27:07. > :27:12.to help them get promoted again was too big to turn down. And West Brom,

:27:13. > :27:18.Tony Pumas has spoken of the frustrations of the manager over the

:27:19. > :27:22.summer. A bit of pressure now with the transfer deadline day looming.

:27:23. > :27:26.Tony will have looked, search, as the questions is it possible. He has

:27:27. > :27:31.had no luck and it is going to be difficult. Thank you very much.

:27:32. > :27:35.The Challenge Cup final is on BBC1 from 2pm.

:27:36. > :27:38.If you've missed anything then Focus is on the iPlayer from midnight,

:27:39. > :27:41.and we're back at the same time next week.

:27:42. > :27:43.Now the Rio games brought us many great moments,

:27:44. > :27:46.but perhaps few more memorable than when Laura Trott

:27:47. > :27:47.became Britain's most decorated female Olympian.

:27:48. > :27:50.And it turns out cycling's golden girl knows a thing or two

:27:51. > :28:09.It is a special Olympic moment for Great Britain. Laura Trott is the

:28:10. > :28:14.most successful female Olympian of all Time for Bert Britain. It was

:28:15. > :28:18.incredible to go and be the first female to win four gold medals for

:28:19. > :28:24.Great Britain. It all came together, it was the perfect Olympics. My mum

:28:25. > :28:28.and dad support Spurs and my sisters support Arsenal. You know what it is

:28:29. > :28:33.like with siblings, I chose the team that my sister did not support. I

:28:34. > :28:40.chose Spurs. Teddy Sheringham used to play for them and I liked the

:28:41. > :28:45.name Teddy, it was a match made in heaven!

:28:46. > :28:57.Arsenal are going to lose I would say. 1- nil.

:28:58. > :28:59.Tottenham Liverpool, that is a tough game. I'm going to stick with

:29:00. > :29:03.Tottenham but not running away with it. 2-1.
