:00:00. > :00:09.they take on Belarus. Thanks for watching.
:00:09. > :00:16.Thank you, Dan. Welcome to Bournemouth, where England are about
:00:16. > :00:18.to kick off their World Cup qualifying campaign against Belarus.
:00:18. > :00:24.It is the first time the lionesses have kicked a ball in anger since
:00:24. > :00:36.their 2013 World Cup campaign, which ended quite prematurely. England are
:00:36. > :00:44.on their way home after just three group games. The decision-making is
:00:44. > :00:52.poor, the enthusiasm is not there. I think change is needed. If that is a
:00:52. > :00:58.change of coach, so be it. This week the FA took the decision to remove
:00:58. > :01:03.the coach of 15 years. You can look at it and say, could we have, but I
:01:03. > :01:09.made those decisions, I have done for 15 years and this time it just
:01:09. > :01:14.didn't work. The situation is what it is, I am going to focus on those
:01:14. > :01:21.two games and try to help the players perform. Looking further
:01:21. > :01:24.than that is probably wasted energy. Brent Hills, the caretaker manager
:01:24. > :01:29.than that is probably wasted energy. for the first two games of the World
:01:29. > :01:33.Cup qualifying campaign, against Belarus today and Turkey on Thursday
:01:33. > :01:37.night. It is the first time the national side has played a game
:01:37. > :01:47.without hope Powell as manager for 15 years. With me now is Sue Smith
:01:47. > :01:53.and former captain Faye White, as well as Michael Gray, the former
:01:53. > :02:00.England left back. Brent Hills and the rest of the coaching staff but
:02:00. > :02:05.no hope Powell. 15 years is such a long time. The girls have said they
:02:05. > :02:09.are excited by the new era that they are nervous as well about change, I
:02:09. > :02:14.suppose, because the majority of them will only have played under
:02:14. > :02:18.hope Powell. They said in training it is really competitive and they
:02:18. > :02:21.are fighting for position so it is a good thing. Michael, you were
:02:21. > :02:30.critical during the summer of what you saw from hope Powell. What do
:02:30. > :02:33.you make of the FA's decision? Brent Hills has his opportunity in the
:02:33. > :02:38.next couple of games and I hope the players impressed because we need to
:02:38. > :02:42.improve in every area. In the European Championships in just did
:02:42. > :02:47.not happen. The players had to perform and hopefully we can come
:02:47. > :02:54.away with a very good result. Three changes from the England-France
:02:54. > :03:00.game. Yes, he has brought in Jordan Nobbs to the midfield, sacrificing
:03:00. > :03:05.Jill Scott and Anita Asante. Lucy Bronze gets a second cap in left
:03:05. > :03:15.back instead of Steph Houghton, who did not perhaps perform how we
:03:15. > :03:21.expected in the Euros. Carney is behind the forward line. Just those
:03:21. > :03:28.couple of tweaks and I am sure he will make changes as the game goes
:03:28. > :03:34.on. Canada in 2015 is the target. The road starts right here. You can
:03:34. > :03:44.follow in Glen's progress on the BBC website and also on Facebook on
:03:44. > :03:52.Twitter and Insta ground. -- Instagram. Perhaps we over thought
:03:52. > :03:56.things and tried to hard at times. We need to get back to keeping the
:03:57. > :04:05.goal and scoring goals. -- keeping the ball. It is an opportunity for
:04:05. > :04:12.us to rebuild and prove to ourselves that we can play better. Brent has
:04:12. > :04:20.been with us, he knows the players, and he has his own ideas.
:04:20. > :04:29.The teams are on their way. Time to hear from Lucy Ward and Jonathan
:04:29. > :04:40.Pierce, the Max commentators. -- match. Cool and breezy with about a
:04:40. > :04:47.crowd of 6000, about half full. It is the start of a new era. England
:04:47. > :05:03.will be continuing the qualifying can -- tradition started under hope
:05:04. > :05:11.Powell. They have not conceded a go in 17 qualifiers. They flopped at
:05:11. > :05:15.the Euros but the women's game in England is far removed from the
:05:15. > :05:28.sport in Belarus. They have never qualified for any finals. They have
:05:28. > :05:36.also not played in a year and they were thrashed 4-0 in their previous
:05:36. > :05:37.visit to England six years ago. Very enthusiastic crowd as we stand for
:05:37. > :05:49.the anthems. YESTERDAY THE LAROUSSE LOOKED TENSE
:05:49. > :08:41.IN TRAINING. Three changes from the final defeat
:08:41. > :08:47.by France in the Euros. Bronze is preferred to Steph Houghton. She was
:08:47. > :08:54.a European Championships under-19 winner in Belarus. We expect Nobbs
:08:54. > :09:01.to do a lot of the midfield running. Ellen White keeps her place up
:09:01. > :09:09.front, even though Natasha Dowie, the Premier League top scorer, is in
:09:09. > :09:15.the squad. Rachel Yankey is left in the stands. As for Belarus, they
:09:15. > :09:24.have never finished higher than third in any qualifying group. The
:09:24. > :09:45.women's game is not as developed in England, 22 - zero, 32-0 scores are
:09:45. > :09:51.not uncommon. Slisarcyk makes her debut. They are expected to defend
:09:51. > :09:57.in great numbers. They have beaten the Ukraine away and drawn with
:09:57. > :10:02.England in recent years. It will be a bit of a test for England because
:10:02. > :10:04.England want to win these first two games and showed at the results in
:10:04. > :10:09.England want to win these first two the Euros were a freak. They are
:10:09. > :10:32.good players and they will feel they have a lot to prove. Brent knows
:10:32. > :10:39.what White can do. The pitch at Dean Court is really good, a credit to
:10:39. > :10:50.the ground staff. The referee is a German pharmacist.
:10:50. > :11:18.The teams have met before. won in Belarus 6-1. Casey Stoner is
:11:18. > :11:29.earning her 114 cap. -- 114 th. England will kick off with this
:11:29. > :11:35.unbelievable home qualifying record since France beat them a little
:11:35. > :11:40.after the 2003 World Cup at Selhurst Park, since then England have not
:11:40. > :11:53.lost a home qualifier. They will be expected to win this.
:11:53. > :12:03.If Liverpool win their final game against Bristol they will be the
:12:03. > :12:15.Premier League champions. Women's football is gaining support all the
:12:15. > :12:24.time. Nobbs had a terrific FA Cup final for Arsenal.
:12:24. > :12:48.William will be expected to be a playmaker from a deep as Isham. --
:12:48. > :13:00.Williams. -- deep position. Fara William, 118 caps.
:13:00. > :13:12.Swung out of play, it should be a go kick. England will be looking for an
:13:12. > :13:17.early goal, with the pressure down kick. England will be looking for an
:13:17. > :13:26.the flanks with Toni Duggan. A bit of hesitation there but this is what
:13:27. > :13:30.England will be looking for. Dargan has been brought into the game, she
:13:30. > :13:38.played in the last game of the Euros. -- Toni Duggan. Does this
:13:38. > :13:45.mean it is the end for Rachel Yankey? It is no disgrace for
:13:45. > :13:50.Yankey. She is in the stands, I don't know whether she is carrying a
:13:50. > :13:57.knock on but she brings balance and experience to the England team. She
:13:57. > :14:37.very nearly nutmeg shellac there. Carney all the way into the box, and
:14:37. > :14:47.it is 1-0 England! It is definitely what the girls would have expected.
:14:47. > :14:54.But they needed it. She just managed to get the accuracy of the shot just
:14:54. > :15:01.into the corner. She curled it right at the end, great start for England.
:15:01. > :15:20.Great end to the season for Karen Carney. England's first goal of this
:15:20. > :15:28.2015 World Cup qualifying campaign, the World Cup being held in Canada.
:15:29. > :15:34.Eight teams from UEFA will qualify for the World Cup. England are in
:15:34. > :15:48.group six. Wales, Turkey, Montenegrin in there. --
:15:48. > :15:52.Montenegrin. You can sense the intensity of the England girls. They
:15:52. > :15:56.had to get the crowd going after the summer they had and get that early
:15:56. > :16:02.goal. You can see how hard they are working to make sure they win this
:16:02. > :16:06.comfortably. Very competitive in training. Even though Brent Hills
:16:06. > :16:09.has been around for a while, you still have to impress him because he
:16:09. > :16:12.is picking the team. He has made a couple of positional changes, so
:16:13. > :16:57.they have to impress him. Linnik is playing in a deeper role
:16:57. > :17:12.than we thought she would be. Just in front of Shpak.
:17:12. > :17:22.Williams left Everton last season to go to Liverpool. That was offside. I
:17:22. > :17:24.suspect the afternoon will follow a similar pattern, whenever England
:17:24. > :17:28.suspect the afternoon will follow a attack. They need to make sure they
:17:28. > :17:55.do not get frustrated. They need to score a lot of goals.
:17:55. > :18:03.It is quite nice to see a different team other than Arsenal win the
:18:03. > :18:08.league in women's football. That shows they are getting these good
:18:08. > :18:22.players in and competing with Arsenal.
:18:22. > :18:30.Arsenal have done so well but we are all here to see women's football
:18:30. > :18:35.progress in this country. To have three or four teams when you do not
:18:35. > :18:42.know who will win the domestic title is good for the game. It has been a
:18:42. > :18:44.good start by England. They should go on and win handsomely from this
:18:44. > :19:01.only platform. -- early platform. England conceded a home goal in the
:19:01. > :19:25.qualifiers. Duggan is quick, but not back quick
:19:25. > :19:35.which she recognises. Belarus cannot pull their lines.
:19:35. > :19:42.The goalkeeper has not played this season at club level. She has only
:19:42. > :19:49.made a couple of appearances in the last few years. Belarus do not want
:19:49. > :19:52.to move -- keep the ball on the edge of the box. They have to get it
:19:52. > :20:17.further up the pitch which they are not doing at the moment.
:20:17. > :20:25.England need to be able to compete at this level so playing between the
:20:25. > :20:30.lines is the way they want to play. Not a structured as they have been
:20:30. > :20:36.in the past but more free-flowing with the players they have and
:20:36. > :21:01.interchanging positions. Vasilyeva taking the free kick.
:21:01. > :21:13.The goalkeeper is on the side very much with the gamer on Thursday in
:21:13. > :21:19.mind. We have three good goalkeepers in the squad. Some people expressed
:21:19. > :21:26.surprise at Siobhan Chamberlain's form but Brent Hills has gone for
:21:26. > :21:35.experience and knows exactly what she is capable of. She wants to make
:21:35. > :22:00.sure she is ready for Thursday. She is a good keeper.
:22:00. > :22:55.The only way Belarus will have sniff of goal is when England are
:22:55. > :23:01.attacking using a set piece or throwing bodies forwards. The back
:23:01. > :23:03.four of England are pretty comfortable at the moment. England
:23:03. > :23:21.passing in need triangles. -- meet. She should have scored from their!
:23:21. > :23:26.It could have been 2-0. The initial run from Duggan started with a
:23:26. > :23:32.really good touch infield. The keeper got her body behind it.
:23:32. > :23:35.Louise could not get the defenders to it first. There was a miskicked
:23:35. > :24:15.from Aluko. -- a miss kick. Toni Duggan and Jordan Nobbs want to
:24:15. > :24:25.get goals this afternoon and show they are the players to take England
:24:25. > :24:35.forwards. She gets it this time! Belarus look to the flag which stays
:24:35. > :24:44.down. 2-0. Well taken. An excellent move down the left-hand side. White
:24:44. > :24:46.took a touch to steady herself. That will give her confidence. A good
:24:46. > :25:05.finish. She atones for her earlier error and
:25:05. > :25:12.gives England a comfortable push. Her 15th international goal and ten
:25:12. > :25:20.for Arsenal this season. A season which started along while ago with
:25:21. > :25:22.European football. It would not surprise me to see Brent Hills share
:25:22. > :25:35.the number nine role today. He might give Natasha Dowie half the
:25:35. > :25:57.game. This time she was offside. I am not
:25:57. > :26:08.sure if it was Ellen White. She's looking at the assistant referee. It
:26:08. > :26:17.is her. It fell to Karen Carney. It was not.
:26:17. > :26:26.I do not think she was fully fit at the European Championships. For
:26:26. > :26:27.various reasons they were not playing as well as they should have
:26:27. > :26:44.been. The Belarus defenders do not look
:26:44. > :27:09.athletic as the England girls. I think that has a big effect.
:27:09. > :27:31.Here come Belarus again. At international level they are way
:27:31. > :27:41.behind English women's football class. It is compulsory in every
:27:41. > :27:46.Belarus school, women's football on the curriculum. They have to have
:27:46. > :27:51.eight girl's football team in every school. That is brilliant and the
:27:51. > :27:54.way forwards. You will see the effects of that in five or ten years
:27:55. > :28:12.but at the moment there is a massive golf which is pretty apparent.
:28:12. > :28:22.England have now scored 61 goals and conceded only four in their two
:28:22. > :28:35.qualifying games. -- in their qualifying games.
:28:35. > :29:00.Belarus have not been able to hold onto Carney.
:29:00. > :29:37.Astashova was decent in training last night.
:29:37. > :29:44.Good play. They are moving their defenders about and finding space,
:29:44. > :29:49.England. But as what you have to do when you have a team that has to
:29:49. > :29:53.defend for 90 minutes. You have to get yourself into a space. Not
:29:53. > :30:03.exactly what Duggan wanted to do. Still getting wide. She scored
:30:03. > :30:16.against Russia in the European Championships.
:30:16. > :30:25.Jordan Nobbs is looking good, full of confidence. She can receive the
:30:25. > :30:28.ball and the pressure -- under pressure. She will not lose her
:30:28. > :30:52.place now. Great scorer in the world cup
:30:53. > :31:28.qualifiers, Fara William, 14 goals. The ball is still in play. Kept in
:31:28. > :31:43.by Carney. She tried to do a little bit too much on the ball.
:31:43. > :32:08.Was that handball? Belarus thought so.
:32:08. > :32:16.When somebody comes short for the goal, like there, another player
:32:16. > :32:21.runs in behind to take up the pace. Good movement. A lot better than
:32:22. > :32:27.what we have seen recently. Obviously Belarus are not do the
:32:27. > :32:32.same standard as England have faced recently but you play what is in
:32:32. > :32:42.front of you. Going forward with the new manager, whoever that may be,
:32:42. > :32:46.the likes of Eniola Aluko, who have that experience, we saw her effort,
:32:46. > :32:53.she struck it with some venom. The keeper had to punch it away. Back in
:32:53. > :32:58.the day the ball did not move as quickly.
:32:58. > :33:18.Ellen White is a good number nine, she works so hard off the ball come
:33:18. > :34:16.creates opportunities for others and it sometimes goes unnoticed.
:34:16. > :34:30.Williams is always a player available.
:34:30. > :34:44.Not a bad effort by White. It was worth an effort, trying to curl over
:34:44. > :34:49.the keeper. A bit too high on that occasion. Strikers need a bit of
:34:49. > :35:25.confidence, score a go and then the opportunities come.
:35:25. > :35:41.The first meaningful attack by Belarus. Not a bad effort by
:35:41. > :35:49.Astashova. It is the first time they have thrown together three or four
:35:49. > :35:54.passes. The way they played down the left-hand side is not something we
:35:55. > :36:01.have seen yet,. Just a hint of something, or you don't want to give
:36:01. > :36:08.them any encouragement, but they are an international side, they have
:36:08. > :36:24.beaten teams before. Belarus have taken Slisarcyk off, they need --
:36:24. > :36:35.they have taken on Yulia Borisenko, who plays in Russia.
:36:35. > :36:49.She has played 16 times for Belarus, one of the most experienced players
:36:49. > :36:59.in the squad. White... Good recovery by the keeper. She deserved her
:36:59. > :37:03.luck. A great through ball but the whole of the chance was created by
:37:03. > :37:08.Ellen White's bravery, the fact that she went into the keeper and that
:37:08. > :37:16.created the opportunity for Alex Scott. She saw the space, had a go,
:37:16. > :37:23.but Ellen White has got better as the game has gone on. Alex Scott
:37:24. > :37:36.used to be a striker, she probably wanted to score.
:37:36. > :37:47.A special goal! England, 3-0. 26 minutes gone. Carney was not really
:37:47. > :37:53.under any pressure but she had to execute the strike. She has been
:37:53. > :37:57.given all of this freedom, it was not really in the top keeper if you
:37:57. > :38:06.look at the keeper. -- the top corner. She has done really well,
:38:06. > :38:11.created for others and got a couple herself, really affected in the
:38:11. > :38:17.number ten role. They are doing their best to get Brent Hills the
:38:17. > :38:24.job on a full-time basis. He says he is interested in it. He has these
:38:24. > :38:34.two games in charge. Paul Reilly, based in New York, has said he is
:38:34. > :38:45.interested. Ellen White , getting in behind Vasilyeva. I think there will
:38:45. > :38:46.be a few applicants for the post. The floodgates could be about to
:38:46. > :39:20.open. Kiose did just enough. Belarus obviously recognise the
:39:20. > :39:27.problem down the left side with Alex Scott and Karen Carney, they have
:39:27. > :39:41.made the substitutions. Pulled back just behind Jordan Nobbs and
:39:41. > :39:50.thundered away. They won't take any chances with Thursday's game, in
:39:50. > :39:53.mind of the 3-0 cushion here. They will be dying to get on the
:39:53. > :39:55.scoresheet and get themselves a bit of confidence, but they will not
:39:55. > :40:30.want to lose Karen Carney. England very much in control, as
:40:30. > :40:41.they will have expected to be. They have one seven of the last eight
:40:41. > :40:53.matches, following defeat by Germany in one of them.
:40:54. > :41:02.Good challenge by Aluko. It is not going to win her any medals but it
:41:02. > :41:13.is the kind of challenge that a manager looks out for. When she was
:41:13. > :41:16.younger it was all about her attacking and now she is more
:41:16. > :41:22.composed about the way that she defends from the front and for a
:41:23. > :41:27.manager that is invaluable. In the 2005 European Championships, against
:41:27. > :41:37.Denmark, having taken an A-level history exam that morning she played
:41:37. > :41:41.that match. She is probably the brightest amongst the girls but when
:41:41. > :41:53.it comes to common sense the girls have a bit of a laugh at her. She
:41:53. > :41:56.takes it in good spirit though. The level but Belarus are at, she runs
:41:56. > :42:10.takes it in good spirit though. The at them and they have a real
:42:10. > :42:16.problem. -- that Belarus. They have blown away a few cobwebs with this
:42:16. > :42:24.performance. You have two concentrate on the performances in
:42:24. > :42:28.front of you. It shows that women's football is now seen seriously,
:42:28. > :42:32.because of the outpouring of criticism for the girls and the
:42:32. > :42:36.manager in the summer. It shows people are watching it and you have
:42:36. > :42:42.to take the rough with the smooth. Today is about being positive and
:42:42. > :42:49.going forwards and the girls are absolutely capable of that. Still
:42:49. > :43:01.need more girls coming into the game at club level. They can lay in mixed
:43:01. > :43:02.teams until 15. -- play. These girls are role models for young girls
:43:02. > :43:26.playing. There is no real urgency to the
:43:26. > :43:28.defending of Belarus. I expect the manager is on the edge of his seat
:43:28. > :43:41.sometimes. The referee went to the manager is on the edge of his seat
:43:41. > :43:46.Belarus goalkeeper a moment ago and warned her about time wasting. They
:43:46. > :43:54.are 3-0 down, why on earth would she? Maybe she was reminding her she
:43:54. > :44:00.can only hold the ball for a certain amount of time. I don't think
:44:00. > :44:05.Belarus were expecting anything other than what has happened in the
:44:05. > :44:06.first half an hour and damage limitation is what I suspect they
:44:06. > :44:36.have come to do. A little step over by Eniola Aluko,
:44:36. > :44:46.a talented player. She had a spell out in America, a few in the women's
:44:46. > :44:50.team did that. By the time the girls get to senior level they have really
:44:50. > :44:55.good experience with international games, tournament playing being
:44:55. > :45:02.completely different to these internationals. You mix them in with
:45:02. > :45:05.a bit of experience but the young girls have been easy as and the
:45:05. > :45:26.confidence to take the game forward in this country.
:45:26. > :45:34.Ellen White scored in the third and 26th minute. This could be for four
:45:34. > :45:56.England. She has been around a while. 30
:45:57. > :46:31.years of age now. When it lands with a centre half,
:46:31. > :46:43.you can expect something to say that -- something like that to happen.
:46:43. > :46:53.England expected them to come and park the bus. It has been virtually
:46:53. > :47:02.like that. England have played cleverly. They are keeping
:47:02. > :47:09.possession. Ellen White has dropped back deep.
:47:09. > :47:18.Carney has been outstanding. You have to learn to receive the ball
:47:18. > :47:21.under pressure which will help the girls when they play better teams.
:47:21. > :47:26.If you can receive the ball under pressure, and give it to somebody
:47:26. > :47:52.else, at international level, that is the way to get yourself forwards.
:47:52. > :47:57.The fact that Inga Schwimmer in use to have to go to the States to play
:47:57. > :48:04.there, those days are long gone, which is a good sign for English
:48:04. > :48:08.football. -- the fact that English women used to have to go to the
:48:08. > :48:16.United States. That gets the standard up. It raises the game at
:48:16. > :48:18.international level. That is what we will be looking for after the
:48:18. > :48:47.disappointment of the summer. The Belarus officials were asking me
:48:47. > :48:52.before the game how much the English players get paid. My men's standards
:48:53. > :49:01.it is a pittance but they were still wide-eyed when they found out. I
:49:01. > :49:13.think the top wage is capped at £20,000 a year at the English clubs.
:49:13. > :49:18.It has taken a long time to get where it has put a lot of good work
:49:18. > :49:23.being done in the FA to enable players to be on contracts and get
:49:23. > :49:24.that wage. And because of the popularity the girls do appearances
:49:24. > :49:26.that wage. And because of the and go into school and things like
:49:26. > :50:13.that which is brilliant. Really bad defending. Carney was
:50:13. > :50:27.fortunate there to not have a free kick given against her.
:50:27. > :50:45.Mirashnichenka kept composed and got it away. Scott did not take it in
:50:45. > :50:46.her stride. She had a spell in America with the Boston Breakers
:50:46. > :51:19.club but then went back to Arsenal. 4-0 England! What a first half she
:51:19. > :51:27.has had. Inside 40 minutes. Carney is definitely on fire. Fortunately
:51:27. > :51:39.the ball landed in front of her. Jordan Nobbs did really well. A
:51:39. > :51:47.great finish. A great half from Karen Carney. A 37 minute hat-trick
:51:47. > :52:19.for Carney. England could have had seven but
:52:19. > :52:52.they have done exactly what they needed to do.
:52:52. > :52:59.England's long run of successful home games continues. They have won
:52:59. > :53:01.their last 14 home matches since Iceland beat them in a friendly in
:53:01. > :53:07.their last 14 home matches since July 2009. A foul against Fara
:53:07. > :53:25.Williams. England have matched their scoreline
:53:25. > :53:31.against the last time they take Belarus at home in 2007. -- they
:53:31. > :53:54.played. They have to settle for a corner but
:53:54. > :53:57.a brilliant first half. Belarus are struggling to defend never mind with
:53:57. > :54:07.the pace that Aluko has and keeping up with her. One criticism in the
:54:07. > :54:11.European Championships was other teams looked fitter than as. We are
:54:11. > :54:29.a lot superior to Belarus. Goal kick. I have watched Lucy
:54:29. > :54:37.Bronze a lot for Liverpool this season and I am impressed with her.
:54:37. > :54:46.The intensity of her play is really good. She is athletic and has two
:54:46. > :54:54.good feet. She is a little bit like Steph Houghton. She had a
:54:54. > :55:08.disappointing European Championships. England seem to lose
:55:08. > :55:17.their zest in the finals. They have their hunger back here and
:55:17. > :55:20.determination. They do look good. There are a couple of players --
:55:20. > :55:27.there were a couple of of key There are a couple of players --
:55:27. > :55:35.players struggling with injuries. Now we have a great squad. We just
:55:35. > :55:36.need to show that. A lot of younger players coming in like Lucy Bronze
:55:36. > :56:19.who is just 21. England have played very well
:56:19. > :56:26.throughout the team. Yes, it is important. Only and Bradley. They
:56:26. > :56:30.have not had that much of the ball. -- Stoney. They are doing the simple
:56:31. > :56:49.things well. That should have been five! Heading
:56:50. > :56:55.is not what she is known for four scoring ability. She thought the
:56:55. > :57:43.keeper was coming out to her. Seconds remaining stoppage time. --
:57:43. > :57:50.remain in stoppage time. England did not need any luck. They played very
:57:50. > :57:53.well. A terrific hat-trick I Karen Carney who has been outstanding.
:57:53. > :57:58.Ellen White missed a couple of chances but got the other goal.
:57:58. > :58:02.England could have had seven or eight against vast li in theory
:58:02. > :58:12.opponents. A great first half for England. -- fastly inferior.
:58:12. > :58:20.The England supporters in Bournemouth enjoy that first half.
:58:20. > :58:28.We had a great view of all the goals. So, what did you make of it?
:58:28. > :58:33.That is exactly what we wanted. They have kept the ball, kept possession
:58:33. > :58:38.really well. They actually said they have done the simple things well
:58:38. > :58:44.which is what we wanted them to do. For fantastic goals. I'm hoping for
:58:44. > :58:47.more in the second half. We looked a lot sharper and brighter. A lot of
:58:47. > :58:51.players wanting to get on the ball to show what they can do. Fara
:58:51. > :58:55.Williams had a lot of space in midfield and Carney has been all
:58:55. > :58:58.over the place to get on the ball and make something happen. Alex
:58:58. > :59:04.Scott and Lucy Bronze have got forwards. It is easy when you are
:59:04. > :59:07.playing a team like Belarus as you get more space and time and you are
:59:07. > :59:10.not worried when the ball goes behind you. And inferior
:59:10. > :59:15.opposition. There is no disguising that. You can see the enthusiasm in
:59:15. > :59:17.opposition. There is no disguising the players. They all have a smile
:59:17. > :59:21.opposition. There is no disguising on their faces. They get a lot of
:59:21. > :59:24.time on the ball because Belarus are very poor but you can only beat what
:59:24. > :59:29.is in front of you. The gulls have gone out and played very well. A
:59:29. > :59:35.superb first half. I like the way the girls are mixing in the
:59:35. > :59:40.midfield. Ellen White looks very lively. Early on in the game, she
:59:40. > :59:43.stamped her authority. She was closing down two or three times.
:59:43. > :59:46.That set the standard for the other players. England did not have to
:59:46. > :59:50.That set the standard for the other wait too long for the first goal. We
:59:50. > :59:56.wanted an early goal. That is exactly what we were saying. It
:59:56. > :00:00.relaxed them. We mentioned we wanted Karen Carney and Williams tube get
:00:00. > :00:11.on the ball like that. She did so well. It is that burst, that yard of
:00:11. > :00:14.pace. She manages to put it in the bottom corner. A great finish. We
:00:14. > :00:21.wanted a finish at that time. Chances started to come thick and
:00:21. > :00:29.fast. Ellen White had a glorious one. She worked incredibly hard for
:00:30. > :00:35.the team. Sometimes she does not make enough of the chances she gets.
:00:35. > :00:42.Some good play and movement. Lots of bodies forwards. I think it is
:00:42. > :00:45.Duggan getting the strike away. The players react and has Carney quick
:00:45. > :00:52.on the ball. She is very influential. That is the chance you
:00:52. > :00:55.have to take. She will be disappointed when she sees chances
:00:55. > :01:00.like that list but she scored afterwards. You need to get a foot
:01:00. > :01:04.over the ball and drive it into the bottom of the net. She did not have
:01:04. > :01:08.to wait too long to get another chance. This time she took it. It
:01:08. > :01:17.was great that her to school. It is a fresh ring. Not just Ellen White
:01:17. > :01:23.but the bodies in the area. This was not there in the European
:01:23. > :01:27.Championships. Great movement. It is lovely. A great first touch. She
:01:27. > :01:39.plays it around the keeper. That is what you want from your striker. A
:01:39. > :01:43.lovely finish. Jordan Nobbs, great understanding between them, they
:01:43. > :01:47.obviously played together. She missed the chance and three minutes
:01:47. > :01:51.later bounced back with the confidence, she did really well.
:01:51. > :01:58.Karen Carney was really the player of the first half. She was
:01:58. > :02:07.constantly looking for the ball, playing behind Ellen White, we saw
:02:07. > :02:12.her on the left and the right. She did well to play this inside and
:02:12. > :02:17.what a lovely finish. That is a player full of confidence, she looks
:02:17. > :02:24.up, sees where the keeper is and that is an absolute top corner. She
:02:24. > :02:28.has got herself into a great position as well. She wanted to take
:02:28. > :02:37.that strike on and it is a brilliant finish. We were saying, smash it,
:02:37. > :02:43.and she did. We wanted her to score a hat-trick and she probably heard
:02:43. > :02:47.that as well. She deserved it. Her movement in the first up was
:02:47. > :02:54.excellent. It is all about confidence when she got into the
:02:54. > :03:00.area. We talk about Hirst -- how strong her right foot is, but this
:03:00. > :03:06.one fell to her left. She got a bit unlucky, challenge their and she was
:03:06. > :03:11.in the right area. We did not get bodies in the box in the Euros. If
:03:11. > :03:17.you get people in the box you get opportunities and that is what she
:03:17. > :03:22.has done in the first half. You can see there are four or five options
:03:22. > :03:28.every time they got the ball. They have definitely proven a point
:03:28. > :03:38.today. An extremely positive first half performance from England. They
:03:38. > :03:42.are experiencing a first-time -- for the first time a half-time team talk
:03:42. > :03:48.from a manager other than hope Powell. Some of the players have
:03:48. > :04:07.been talking about huge impact that Hope has had on the game.
:04:07. > :04:15.When Hope started, there was just the senior team, no education system
:04:15. > :04:20.for young players coming through. Really she put that in place and now
:04:20. > :04:32.it is a comprehensive system, right from under 12 -- under 15, two under
:04:32. > :04:39.and the seniors. -- through to under 23 and the seniors. We are expected
:04:39. > :04:50.to qualify for every tournament and that is because of Hope. She has
:04:50. > :04:55.focused on youth. I was so low during my drinking days and Hope
:04:55. > :05:01.gave me the help I needed, she said I want you to be a more confident
:05:01. > :05:04.human being. If I did not have heard your in those tough times, years
:05:04. > :05:10.ago, I probably would not be playing football, I probably would have
:05:10. > :05:15.taken a different route. When I was young there was not a centre of
:05:15. > :05:20.excellence and the opportunities that girls have. The opportunities
:05:20. > :05:27.for girls to play are far greater than they were. She was here for 15
:05:27. > :05:32.years, we started qualifying for major tournaments, got to the
:05:32. > :05:38.finals, and you can't forget that. When she first got the job there
:05:38. > :05:45.were girls working full-time at their other jobs, trying to train,
:05:45. > :05:49.and she introduced new contracts. She has done so much for the game
:05:49. > :05:57.and I am sure all the girls wish her luck with whatever she does next.
:05:57. > :06:04.Hope Powell, having achieved a huge amount for women's football in
:06:04. > :06:08.England and having had to ask for a lot from the FA, dragging women's
:06:08. > :06:14.football into the modern error. Do you remember the time she was
:06:14. > :06:18.appointed England manager? I played her in the team and she got
:06:18. > :06:23.appointed the next day, I went from being a team-mate to her being my
:06:23. > :06:28.manager. She has transformed the women's game. When we started
:06:28. > :06:34.playing we did not have sports scientists, nutritionists. She has
:06:34. > :06:39.brought that for grass roots to the national team and all credit to
:06:39. > :06:44.her. She has changed the game to where it is today and we have to be
:06:44. > :06:49.thankful. What do you think is the most important thing she has
:06:49. > :06:54.achieved? The whole setup, going to the international games. When we
:06:54. > :07:03.were young we went straight into the seniors. We did not have the
:07:03. > :07:07.opportunity to play under 15 at international level. She brought
:07:07. > :07:12.that in very quickly and was able to bring that pathway in, and the
:07:12. > :07:15.scouting to bring the best players through quickly. Also changing the
:07:15. > :07:20.scouting to bring the best players culture. A lot of players, it was a
:07:20. > :07:24.social thing, and a lot of players at international level, they did not
:07:24. > :07:28.train and off, they were not professional off the pitch, and we
:07:28. > :07:33.had to change that. Younger players, it is second nature to them, the way
:07:33. > :07:40.they look after themselves off the pitch as well as on it. I think she
:07:40. > :07:46.has to stay in women's football because she has achieved so much.
:07:46. > :08:01.Maybe you way for, but she has two stay within the game. -- UEFA.
:08:01. > :08:05.Dan Ashworth will be closely involved in the selection process
:08:06. > :08:12.for a new manager. I am sure you have had plenty of applications.
:08:12. > :08:16.Where is the process up to? The application process is closed so we
:08:16. > :08:19.have short listed. They will go through the same process as with the
:08:19. > :08:26.head coach, to make sure we are ready for the next bubble header, we
:08:26. > :08:34.have somebody in place for that. -- double header. It has to be the
:08:34. > :08:38.right person for the role, and outstanding coaching pedigree,
:08:38. > :08:41.obviously an affinity with the female game, and experience in
:08:41. > :08:48.international football. Does it need to be a woman? Not at all. We have
:08:48. > :08:54.had applications from men and women, it just has to be the right person.
:08:54. > :08:58.We have short listed, we want to get these two games out of the way, and
:08:58. > :09:02.then we will have an extensive interview process in the next couple
:09:02. > :09:06.of weeks. When we are convinced we have the right person we will make
:09:06. > :09:11.an announcement. Are you looking at making wider changes in the women's
:09:11. > :09:16.goal? Yes, we have the head of women's elite, who will perhaps look
:09:16. > :09:20.at the structures beneath the head coach role, looking at the 15,
:09:20. > :09:28.19-year-old teams. You have to say coach role, looking at the 15,
:09:28. > :09:34.that Brent Hills has made a great start in his two games in charge. I
:09:34. > :09:39.am sure he will be delighted with the first 45 minutes. The tempo, the
:09:39. > :09:45.energy they have played with, winning back the ball early, which
:09:45. > :09:52.has led to two or three goals. But the game is not over yet.
:09:52. > :10:02.One of the highlights of Hope's career was leading England to a
:10:02. > :10:08.world Cup quarterfinal. The Olympic -- and Olympic quarterfinal.
:10:08. > :10:13.We will be meeting a host of sporting heroes and discovering the
:10:13. > :10:23.stars of tomorrow. Joining me this month, Britain's most successful
:10:23. > :10:31.British gymnast, event Mary King. -- eventer.
:10:31. > :10:37.That programme is repeated tomorrow afternoon on BBC Two. Some of the
:10:37. > :10:43.stars from Team GB Olympic cycling squad are in action in Italy. They
:10:43. > :10:51.are in pursuit of world titles. Chris Froome is the champion. Mark
:10:51. > :11:06.Cavendish has won the world title for Great Britain. Lizzie Armistead
:11:06. > :11:18.gets the silver per Great Britain. Chris Froome crosses the line as the
:11:18. > :11:22.winner of the 2013 Tour de France. 4-0 to England at Bournemouth at
:11:22. > :11:31.half-time, so far so good. They have not been to tested by Belarus but
:11:31. > :11:38.they had one chance. Astashova, I know you know her very well! They
:11:38. > :11:42.had a decent opportunity, came down the left-hand side, but it came to
:11:42. > :11:47.nothing in the end. This is what England have to be careful of. It is
:11:47. > :11:52.a ball into the area, a bit of movement. A better header might have
:11:52. > :11:56.caused problems but it came to nothing in the end. It gave England
:11:56. > :12:00.a little bit of a scare but otherwise it has been front foot
:12:00. > :12:06.forward, England looking to score as many as possible. Will you expect
:12:06. > :12:12.many changes in the second half? I think so, give players a chance, let
:12:12. > :12:20.Natasha Dowie have a chance. I am expecting more goals. We want more
:12:20. > :12:25.but they will be miles away at the other end of the pitch! Let's go
:12:25. > :12:34.back to our commentary team, Jonathan Pearce and Lucy Ward.
:12:34. > :12:45.The second half will resume with a Belarus substitution. I think Hanna
:12:45. > :13:01.Pilipenka is going to come on. She plays in Russian football. She has
:13:01. > :13:08.only been involved in the last qualifying campaign, for the Euros,
:13:09. > :13:21.once. She has come on for Miller Asha Janke -- Mirashnichenka. That
:13:21. > :13:37.is a bit of a surprise. Belarus are 4-0 down.
:13:37. > :13:48.Belarus look sluggish in comparison with England in the first half. --
:13:48. > :13:55.Belarus looked. They also looked startled at times.
:13:55. > :14:07.Pilipenka has come on very much up front.
:14:07. > :14:13.I don't know if there is much that Belarus can do. They are overpowered
:14:13. > :14:19.but perhaps they could look at getting a set piece up the match,
:14:19. > :14:23.drawing England in, but they do not really have the athletic ability or
:14:24. > :14:27.the pace to do that. The time they did keep the ball for three or four
:14:27. > :14:37.passes, they created an opportunity for themselves.
:14:37. > :14:45.Williams again in space. Belarus have not pressed the ball, they have
:14:45. > :14:56.allowed Williams and Nobbs too much space. Carney as well.
:14:56. > :15:43.Drawn to far across space therefore Toni Duggan. -- too far.
:15:43. > :15:47.Every time we get the ball there are yards of space. You have to get in
:15:47. > :16:23.front of her. -- Williams. It will not go in! So very nearly a
:16:23. > :16:29.fifth. England have had 16 efforts on goal and scored four. Just in
:16:29. > :16:38.that little cross their there were three or four opportunities to
:16:38. > :16:45.score. I thought Aluko was going to do a diving header. Great pace by
:16:45. > :17:17.Aluko. What she stood in the offside
:17:17. > :17:35.position then? Belarus almost conceded a fifth goal
:17:35. > :17:50.there. They need to be more switched on. Where would you place Belarus? I
:17:50. > :17:57.do not think they could compete with any of the WSL teams. They will be
:17:57. > :18:04.looking to improve. The changes they have made in their school. They are
:18:04. > :18:17.really a level below the qualifying level. They need to improve in the
:18:17. > :18:25.next ten years or so. They have only recently gone up a notch from the
:18:25. > :18:28.prequalifying stages. Their expectation coming here will have
:18:28. > :18:32.been to concede goals and they want to limit that. They are looking at
:18:32. > :19:18.their standings in the qualifying group.
:19:19. > :19:33.A good save! Excellent goalkeeping. Aluko again using her pace down the
:19:33. > :20:04.left-hand side to cut in using her stronger left but. -- right foot.
:20:04. > :20:12.Caught offside. Lucy Bronze was stood looking along the line so she
:20:12. > :20:19.thought she was onside. It will be interesting to see whether she was
:20:19. > :20:25.or not. Once or twice the Belarus number eight has shown a couple of
:20:25. > :20:31.decent touches. They are playing so deep. They are inviting England onto
:20:32. > :20:51.them. They are. It has not worked for times. -- four times.
:20:51. > :20:57.They are looking for a head of women's elite development and a head
:20:57. > :21:01.coach. They are looking to progress it. They have to take women's
:21:01. > :21:11.football to the next level now in this country. They now have to be
:21:11. > :21:14.competing at these major championships and get two semifinals
:21:14. > :21:20.and finals consistently and be seen as one of the world powers. For that
:21:20. > :21:25.to happen this new role needs to come into place to continue the work
:21:25. > :21:30.Hope Powell had done. The next appointment as England manager will
:21:30. > :21:34.show the way the FA are going. They could surprise a few people and
:21:34. > :21:36.bring someone in from the men's game of someone with international
:21:36. > :21:43.experience. It will be interesting to see. You think it could be
:21:43. > :21:47.somebody with Premier League experience? Who knows. I suspect
:21:47. > :21:52.there could experience? Who knows. I suspect
:21:52. > :21:54.for it because women's football is now at that level. It is a great
:21:54. > :22:12.job. I think it is a key appointment and
:22:12. > :22:24.it will show the direction the FA are going by who they choose.
:22:24. > :22:34.Might Hope Powell get a job in the men's game? Maybe. It is 2013. It is
:22:34. > :22:36.the best candidate for the job in all jobs in football. If that
:22:36. > :22:59.happens to be a woman, so be it. Natasha Dowie is about to come on
:22:59. > :23:16.for England. 20 goals in 19 games this season.
:23:16. > :23:30.For a lot of people this is three or four games too late. A rather clumsy
:23:30. > :23:41.effort at a challenge. She apologises. I do not think she meant
:23:41. > :23:43.that. She turned around at the last minute and saw Lucy Bronze. That
:23:44. > :24:11.will hurt. On comes Dowie. Ellen White will
:24:11. > :24:19.move wide. I think she can play anywhere across the front line,
:24:19. > :24:57.Ellen White. Dowie was substituted at half-time against Serbia.
:24:57. > :25:03.Even Dowie would admit herself that in the last few years she has
:25:03. > :25:07.started to take us of serious in football and worked at her game and
:25:07. > :25:47.realised she could be a top player. This is the fruits of that.
:25:47. > :25:56.Dowie was held back in the middle. As an international defender, any
:25:56. > :25:57.means to put off a centre forward to stop them making the run, because it
:25:57. > :26:13.was a good call. -- ball. Dowie worked with Brent Hills at the
:26:13. > :26:24.under 23 level. He has done Dowie worked with Brent Hills at the
:26:24. > :26:31.terrifically well, along with hope, dragging the women's game into the
:26:32. > :26:39.professional in rough. The way the England team have played today is a
:26:39. > :26:41.consequence of that. At under 23 he does a good job. He might have a
:26:41. > :27:38.chance at the main job. Who knows. So many people are delighted Jordon
:27:38. > :27:51.Nobbs has got this chance. After the bar and in! After coming on she
:27:51. > :27:56.scores! I am really, really pleased. Quite a bit of pressure coming on.
:27:56. > :28:04.The thing she does really well is tracked across in terms of the
:28:04. > :28:17.header. That is great technique. The way she watches the ball here. She
:28:17. > :28:39.got her reward. A great effort. Just inside the hours she makes it 5-0.
:28:39. > :29:04.England play Turkey on Thursday. Wales are at home in October.
:29:04. > :29:21.What is the keeper doing there? It is six! It is ruled out! Not the
:29:21. > :29:36.most popular decision of the day. While she offside? -- was she
:29:36. > :29:41.offside. I am not sure. The flag was late because he had to wait until
:29:42. > :29:58.Ellen had a go on goal. The crowd is not happy. This time it is six! A
:29:58. > :30:06.terrific informants. Dominant throughout, set the pace early. A
:30:06. > :30:14.deserved goal for Aluko. She could have had a go herself, but she knew
:30:15. > :30:19.where Aluko was. Great play by Ellen White. A great little ball. A simple
:30:19. > :30:33.finish for Aluko but one that was deserved. England have made a
:30:33. > :30:42.substitution. Carney has gone off and Jill Scott has come on. That
:30:42. > :30:51.will now mean Jordon Nobbs moves into the advanced position. When you
:30:51. > :30:57.look at Jordon Nobbs and the work Sunderland women have done, they
:30:57. > :31:04.always knew they would be good Sunderland women have done, they
:31:04. > :31:06.international is. I think the likes of Sunderland which have produced
:31:07. > :31:11.these players and then Arsenal and Everton and Liverpool take, at that
:31:11. > :31:26.sort of level they have done really, really well. Steph Houghton as well.
:31:26. > :31:35.Earlier we were talking about Hope Powell being the first to get
:31:35. > :31:44.central FA contracts, so women could effectively make a living out of
:31:44. > :31:50.foot wall. Was Aluko pulled back? She was. -- a living out of foot
:31:50. > :32:22.wall. Two goals in two minutes for
:32:23. > :32:31.England, plus the one that was disallowed. I think they are
:32:31. > :32:37.watching the clock in the corner, the Belarus players. They do not
:32:37. > :32:55.want to be in barrister by seven, eight, nine, ten. -- embarrassed. 65
:32:55. > :33:07.goals and four conceded in recent World Cup qualifiers. Great support
:33:07. > :33:11.today here as well, after the disappointment of the summer people
:33:11. > :33:20.have come out in force, which is great to see, lots of young girls
:33:20. > :33:25.and boys with England shirts on. They have started off well on the
:33:25. > :33:50.road to Canada 2015, that is for sure. Dowie is Iain Dowie's Nice. If
:33:50. > :34:02.she gets herself established in this England squad, she is going to score
:34:02. > :34:09.goals, she has proved that. It is a tripping offence so technically a
:34:09. > :34:17.yellow card can be produced. Avkhimovich is booked. It took
:34:17. > :34:31.awhile to that name in the referee's book. Quite inexperienced
:34:31. > :34:46.referee. She was in the 2010 German cup final. -- quite an experienced.
:34:46. > :34:53.Williams has a go, outside of the right for it. It is a frequent kick
:34:53. > :35:01.that she practices and practices, runs up straight to it, and the ball
:35:01. > :35:09.girl behind the goal is wise to get out of the way. Not like the classic
:35:10. > :35:17.swing from left to right, where you hit it on the outside. It makes the
:35:17. > :35:31.ball move a bit, but straight as an arrow. Nobbs is offside.
:35:31. > :35:40.She is five, very tall for the women's game. -- five feet 11
:35:40. > :36:02.inches. Belarus making mistakes again.
:36:02. > :36:08.England are always on the front foot. Players out there with
:36:08. > :36:12.confidence that they can score. It is hard enough for Belarus, without
:36:12. > :36:20.making mistakes, which they are tending to do now. I wonder if
:36:20. > :36:25.England can vary their style with their two centre forwards, bringing
:36:25. > :36:35.Carney and the like up from midfield. Natasha Dowie as well. You
:36:35. > :36:39.need those facets to the game if you are going to compete at the highest
:36:39. > :36:44.level internationally, you need to do something a bit different, bring
:36:44. > :37:13.others into play. Ellen White and Toni Duggan can move position.
:37:13. > :37:28.A rare touch of the ball therefore Rachel Brown. She has not had a shot
:37:28. > :37:43.to save. Shpak, the number five, is ground. -- covering ground.
:37:44. > :37:48.She is playing out from the back but very deep. England can hand them in
:37:48. > :38:07.here. -- pen. Casey Stoney, the England captain.
:38:07. > :38:21.She has had harder days, that is for sure.
:38:21. > :38:45.This should be the keeper's. Dear, oh dear.
:38:45. > :39:22.Kharlanova was not strong enough to stay with Jill Scott.
:39:22. > :39:31.A good first day in charge for that man. Played a lot of football in his
:39:31. > :39:55.youth. Took his badge very early. Brent is sending on another
:39:55. > :40:12.substitute. He was a youth coach at Brentford. Jade Moore of Birmingham
:40:12. > :40:19.is coming on. She is a real terrier like midfielder, not afraid to
:40:19. > :40:28.attack. A great engine. Another one of the team that won the Euro under
:40:28. > :40:32.19 title in 2009. Winning is a great habit to get used to and if you have
:40:32. > :40:37.done it in tournament football, a skill in itself, you have to use
:40:37. > :40:39.that, and that is what is happening. These players are coming to the fore
:40:39. > :41:06.and I have no fear. -- they have. Dowie could not quite stretch. Good
:41:06. > :41:15.work done by Nobbs, across the far post. Affective play on the
:41:15. > :41:59.left-hand side by Jordan Nobbs. -- effective.
:42:00. > :42:13.Moore scored in the Cyprus cup successful campaign this year.
:42:13. > :42:27.With 74 minutes gone, I wonder whether or not Rachel Brown will
:42:27. > :42:35.have a shot to save. England are getting players behind the ball. You
:42:35. > :42:42.could forgive a lack of concentration for the backline. Five
:42:42. > :42:46.in the wall. Yulia Borisenko lines up to take it. She came on at left
:42:46. > :43:02.back but she is right footed. She has not scored at international
:43:02. > :43:06.level, and she still hasn't. I expected some kind of wonder free
:43:06. > :43:11.kick, the way she lined it up. I thought she would put it in the top
:43:11. > :43:14.corner. With a team like this you have to do practice set pieces
:43:14. > :43:21.because that is probably the only way you are going to score, given
:43:21. > :43:29.the calibre of England. I think they need to practice some more. Terrific
:43:29. > :43:38.ball away by Stoney, looking for Ellen White. Closed down by
:43:38. > :43:51.Vasilyeva. One sprint after Ellen White too many for Vasilyeva. Casey
:43:51. > :43:59.Stoney has that ability to put the ball into space in those diagonal
:43:59. > :44:11.positions. If you look at the Team GB performances, the Cyprus cup,
:44:11. > :44:17.what an earth -- on earth happened at the Euros? I don't think anybody
:44:17. > :45:03.can believe it. I think Kiose got it away in the
:45:03. > :45:13.end. She took it on her right and passed it onto her left, little
:45:13. > :45:19.touch. The keeper got to that in the end, bouncing awkwardly in front of
:45:19. > :45:27.her. Always difficult for a keeper, a strike on goal that bounces in
:45:27. > :45:28.front. She has done badly in some things today and been amazing in
:45:28. > :45:54.other things. 12 minutes to go. I think England have had over 20
:45:54. > :47:04.efforts. Bradley and Stoney have had very
:47:04. > :47:13.little to do. They are always positive and do simple things well.
:47:13. > :47:17.That is what he wanted them to do. The simple things well. If you can
:47:17. > :47:22.get the simple things right in football, it usually works for you.
:47:22. > :47:27.That is what they have done today. Lots of tackle, high-intensity,
:47:27. > :47:39.finishing the chances. It has been exciting to watch. That is the best
:47:39. > :47:46.antidote ever to the summer. A team ranked 11th in this world should win
:47:46. > :47:51.this group. They probably will but it is about making sure they are
:47:51. > :47:59.Eddie for Canada 2015. That is the key thing. That they perform when
:47:59. > :48:00.they get there. They have to get through qualifying first but that is
:48:00. > :48:17.the next level for England. Wales will be watching this. They
:48:17. > :48:21.play Belarus on Thursday. And then England. Wales will be no pushover
:48:21. > :48:37.is whatsoever. There are key Welsh players in
:48:38. > :48:43.Bristol Academy and look how well they do. They will be a bigger test
:48:43. > :49:00.than Belarus have been today. Just a little bit too late. Good
:49:00. > :49:36.passing there. The game has been that exciting with
:49:36. > :49:40.the goals that there has not been a Mexican wave which normally happens
:49:40. > :49:43.when the crowd is bored. They are enthralled with the game. All in all
:49:43. > :50:18.a really positive afternoon. That pass was a little bit tired to
:50:18. > :50:55.Ellen White. Look at the player was that got
:50:55. > :51:01.beyond the strikers and into the box. The thing missing from her
:51:01. > :51:06.performance is a goal. Not through lack of trying. She has been
:51:06. > :51:10.excellent. She has taken her game onto the next level on the
:51:10. > :51:13.international stage. Willing to go past the forwards which will hurt
:51:13. > :51:57.any team at any level. Carney, the hat-trick scorer. She
:51:57. > :52:24.deserves a smile. Maybe another substitution for
:52:24. > :52:59.Belarus. Once or twice Kharlanova has shown
:52:59. > :54:16.good touches. Belarus are simply putting bodies in
:54:16. > :54:42.the way now. Kiose has stayed down. Linnik has
:54:42. > :55:07.hardly touched the ball in the game. It is always harder when you are
:55:07. > :55:15.chasing the ball and do not have possession. Carney is announced as
:55:15. > :55:37.chasing the ball and do not have the official man of the match.
:55:37. > :56:00.Wrong option, straight at the keeper. The two English players at
:56:00. > :56:23.the far post. It should have been seven. It could have been 27!
:56:23. > :56:32.That is the player we wanted to see on the ball. England were aware of
:56:32. > :57:16.her. I suspect in a better team she is more effective.
:57:16. > :57:40.Another great chance. Picked up a great position there. She managed to
:57:40. > :57:48.stay onside but could not execute the finish. Against a better
:57:48. > :58:06.opposition those are the chances which need to go in.
:58:06. > :58:19.The keeper has made some crucial saves. It is amazing how you can
:58:19. > :58:25.punch a ball out. She has had some very good technical saves. A shame
:58:25. > :58:34.for Jordon Nobbs who has been excellent throughout. Absolutely.
:58:34. > :59:08.Jade Moore has come on and played some decisive balls forward as well.
:59:08. > :59:16.Another minute for Belarus to suffer punishment. For Belarus to be
:59:16. > :59:31.Another minute for Belarus to suffer playing in senior qualifying
:59:31. > :59:35.sections... It would be a mark of their development. A very good
:59:35. > :59:52.England team again. A good take but nothing at the end
:59:52. > :00:24.of it. I don't think that Alex Scott has
:00:24. > :00:33.been in her own half for 30 minutes. What a way to but the Euros behind
:00:33. > :00:38.them. -- to put. Carney with a hat-trick, Ellen White, a thoroughly
:00:38. > :00:48.good performance by England. They started well and in the first game
:00:48. > :00:51.of Trent Hills' role as caretaker manager they have beaten a
:00:51. > :00:58.hopelessly inferior Belarus team by six goals to nil.
:00:58. > :01:12.England's World Cup group table is looking rather nice.
:01:12. > :01:31.Turkey to come on Thursday night, also here on the BBC.
:01:31. > :01:41.It would be fantastic if you came down to join us. 6-0, no complaints
:01:41. > :01:45.here. Is that what you expected? I think so. You could see they had
:01:45. > :01:50.something to prove, they wanted to get those results, players wanted to
:01:50. > :01:54.get on the ball, in the box. It is just what we asked of them in the
:01:54. > :01:59.Euros. They have showed what a talented group of players they are.
:01:59. > :02:05.Everybody that came on, they really did well. I am really pleased, job
:02:05. > :02:11.done, and I am sure the girls will be happy. I think towards the end it
:02:11. > :02:18.went a lot slower, the tempo was not as quick. The first half, Carney set
:02:18. > :02:21.the pace with her performance, wanting to get on the ball. The
:02:22. > :02:26.second half, some of the changes meant it got a bit witty in places.
:02:26. > :02:38.I thought that Lucy Bronze had a very good going game. -- good game.
:02:38. > :02:43.Jordan Nobbs had a good game as well. Let's look at the hat-trick
:02:44. > :02:48.from Karen Carney in the first half. She was excellent in the first half.
:02:48. > :02:54.The first goal she made herself and it looked like it was going to miss
:02:54. > :03:00.but it creep in of the grass. The second one, a great finish as well
:03:00. > :03:04.with her right foot. Fantastic finish and she deserved it. She
:03:04. > :03:09.scores the third with her left foot and very well deserved, the player
:03:09. > :03:18.of the match as well. Overall a very good performance. Natasha Dowie has
:03:19. > :03:27.scored 19 goals in 20 games. Yes, her club form is fantastic. But for
:03:27. > :03:32.this championship you could see that she wanted the ball. This was her
:03:32. > :03:35.first and second touch, the first touch came off the bar and the
:03:35. > :03:41.second touch came back to her. A touch came off the bar and the
:03:41. > :03:46.lovely header. Karen Carney, very influential, a lovely ball in. That
:03:46. > :03:59.is the kind of ball that Natasha once. -- wants. Aluko has been
:03:59. > :04:09.banging in goals for years and years and she has Dowie to thanks for
:04:09. > :04:15.being a provider. It comes down the left, Dowie shows players where she
:04:15. > :04:22.once the ball. She has lots of space but it is good to see her
:04:22. > :04:24.awareness, she knows where the players are around her, and she
:04:24. > :04:29.awareness, she knows where the brings it into the danger area. It
:04:29. > :04:40.is good that they have that understanding. She has added a lot
:04:40. > :04:46.to her game in recent years, Aluko. We are pitch side now with Natasha
:04:46. > :04:51.Dowie. I am confident and I feel better and that means a lot.
:04:51. > :04:57.Natasha, you got your goal within five minutes of coming on. Did you
:04:57. > :05:01.feel fresher today? Not really, I was just excited. I have enjoyed my
:05:01. > :05:08.season at Liverpool and I wanted to come on and have some fun. I was
:05:08. > :05:14.pleased with the goal and also to assist any. It was a frustrating
:05:15. > :05:24.game, defending a lot, but I really enjoyed this one. If you are
:05:24. > :05:28.stirring goals as a striker you are confident. I want to play good
:05:28. > :05:30.football. It was great to get on the scoresheet, the girls have made me
:05:30. > :05:36.welcome, and you can see I am scoresheet, the girls have made me
:05:36. > :05:41.enjoying my football. Happy to make amends for not being at the Euros?
:05:41. > :05:46.Yes, I think the girls want to forget about that. It was a good 6-0
:05:46. > :05:52.win and we need to take that into the Turkey game. A great start for
:05:53. > :05:58.Brent Hills. Yes, he has come in and we want to try to get six points in
:05:58. > :06:05.two games and we are halfway there. We have more of a test on Thursday
:06:05. > :06:08.but we will give it our best. It is a confidence boost, getting new
:06:08. > :06:13.girls on the scoresheet. Thanks very much.
:06:13. > :06:28.Karen and Natasha and there with Sally Nugent. The football coverage
:06:28. > :06:32.continues now with Final Score. On BBC One from four o'clock that is on
:06:32. > :06:36.the red button. Match Of The Day is an BBC One tonight with highlight of
:06:36. > :06:49.all of the games at 10:30pm. Pleasing from an England point of
:06:49. > :06:59.view, Mickey. Jordan Nobbs stuck out, getting her chance. She was
:06:59. > :07:06.outstanding from start to finish. An intricate player in midfield, her
:07:06. > :07:13.energy levels were fantastic. She want s zero -- she wants to get on
:07:13. > :07:18.the ball. She is always looking for the killer pass, wants to be
:07:18. > :07:26.involved. She reminds me of Paul Scholes. Again, in the box, great
:07:26. > :07:34.opportunities for a centre forward. That is brilliant to see. That was
:07:34. > :07:39.missing in the Euros. Here, wanting to top off a performance with a
:07:39. > :07:46.goal. She should have put that one in the net but overall, fantastic. I
:07:46. > :07:49.think the agents will have their ears pricked up when you call her
:07:49. > :07:58.the Paul Scholes of the women's game. I knew she would not be out of
:07:58. > :08:02.place, I saw her coming into the Arsenal team. She puts in good
:08:02. > :08:09.performances week in, week out. She brings energy to the team. Here in
:08:09. > :08:16.Bournemouth a successful start to England's World Cup qualifying
:08:16. > :08:20.campaign, victory over Belarus proving there is life after Hope.
