0:01:00 > 0:01:05penultimate race of the 2011 Formula One season, one that has

0:01:05 > 0:01:09simply flown by. It has taken us some while to get you but it has

0:01:09 > 0:01:14not taken Sebastian Vettel to be the best man and Formula One. He

0:01:14 > 0:01:18has had the title wrapped up and the big news is that Jensen Button

0:01:18 > 0:01:23could secure second place, beating Lewis Hamilton in the same car and

0:01:23 > 0:01:30Mark Webber, who drives a faster car. And for the constructors

0:01:31 > 0:01:36championship... The battle is for midfield. 6th place is up for grabs.

0:01:36 > 0:01:41Millions of pounds the prize. What would happen as the sun came down

0:01:41 > 0:01:48and Abu Dhabi, one of the action in a few moments. Here is what

0:01:48 > 0:01:52happened in qualifying. With the championship long-since decided, it

0:01:52 > 0:01:57was McLaren who had been on top in Abu Dhabi over the weekend with

0:01:57 > 0:02:02Sebastian Vettel struggling and Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button

0:02:02 > 0:02:06having high hopes for pole position, as did the superstars. It was a

0:02:06 > 0:02:09hard day's night for Williams, statistically this was the worst

0:02:09 > 0:02:16qualifier for Williams in the entire history. Rubens Barrichello

0:02:16 > 0:02:23could not contend due to win or a link -- oil lake. Pastor Maldonado

0:02:23 > 0:02:29starts at the back. I want to have the whole race tomorrow and to get

0:02:30 > 0:02:34to the end with a smile. It has been a tough weekend. Qualifying

0:02:34 > 0:02:40was stopped when Felipe Massa misjudged the chicane, sending a

0:02:40 > 0:02:45bollard in to Jensen Button. Force India wasn't form, making the top

0:02:45 > 0:02:5010, just behind Mercedes. Paul arrester having an eye on points

0:02:50 > 0:02:55from 10th place. It is a long race but hopefully we can get the

0:02:55 > 0:03:00numbers right and we can focus on what we want to achieve. There is a

0:03:00 > 0:03:05compromise. The scene was set for Nikki in the contested final few

0:03:05 > 0:03:09minutes. Ferrari was the third fastest and 5th and 6th place was

0:03:09 > 0:03:14the maximum they can achieve. Lewis Hamilton said a very quick time in

0:03:14 > 0:03:20Q2 so hopes were high. Jensen Button went quickest only to be

0:03:20 > 0:03:24beaten by Lewis Hamilton by 100 the second, one foot of the track.

0:03:24 > 0:03:28Sebastian Vettel knew what he had to do. The world champion won

0:03:28 > 0:03:32himself up and delivered his best lap of the weekend when it mattered

0:03:32 > 0:03:42most, over, the advantage that McLaren thought they had, prompting

0:03:42 > 0:03:44

0:03:44 > 0:03:51celebrations from Red Bull. All of the cars have completed. P2.

0:03:51 > 0:03:56Something I did in Q 3, on the last run, something they switched on.

0:03:56 > 0:04:01There is that extra time. I do not know when it comes from. Hopefully,

0:04:01 > 0:04:07next year, we will not have that. A we were able to use everything.

0:04:07 > 0:04:12That you are allowed to use. To improve my lap time dramatically.

0:04:12 > 0:04:18Still not enough to challenge Sebastien. When the sun goes down,

0:04:18 > 0:04:23the circuit changes. I felt more comfortable and then Q2 be a very

0:04:23 > 0:04:31competitive and in Q3, if we got everything together, I would have a

0:04:31 > 0:04:35chance. Which was the case. I am very pleased. The records keep

0:04:35 > 0:04:38falling, 17 front row starts for Sebastian Vettel. Lewis Hamilton

0:04:38 > 0:04:44and then defies the blown diffuser as the source of their speed.

0:04:44 > 0:04:52Jensen Button, ahead of Mark Webber and Fernando Alonso, Nico Rosberg,

0:04:52 > 0:04:55and Michael Schumacher is set for a race with Force India, Vitaly

0:04:55 > 0:05:00Petrov, Alguersuari and a bad session for Kobayashi, I'd

0:05:00 > 0:05:04qualified by his team-mate. Heikki Kovalainen is the best of the

0:05:04 > 0:05:13younger teams. For the last row, Williams. The weekend could only

0:05:13 > 0:05:20get better. As dusk approaches, many drivers used those clear

0:05:20 > 0:05:30visors for the all-important five red lights. The race in the desert

0:05:30 > 0:05:31

0:05:31 > 0:05:40is underway. It looks even. Down to the first corner. And once it goes

0:05:40 > 0:05:47around the outside of Mark Webber. Nico Rosberg! Sebastian Vettel!

0:05:47 > 0:05:53Puncture! He has not even made it down to turn No. 5. How did he get

0:05:53 > 0:06:00that so quickly? He has overloaded the car going into the turn. We

0:06:00 > 0:06:09will get a replay. There would have been no contact at that stage.

0:06:09 > 0:06:15McLaren, 1, 2. We very nearly saw... We nearly so both Mercedes getting

0:06:15 > 0:06:22together in to turn No. 5. They are side by side. Alonso has gone past

0:06:22 > 0:06:26Jensen Button! Into second place. Mercedes right behind. Tremendous

0:06:26 > 0:06:33first lap in Abu Dhabi and still we have Alonso and Jensen Button in

0:06:33 > 0:06:43that strike a race. Into the slipstream, Mercedes Benz, side by

0:06:43 > 0:06:43

0:06:43 > 0:06:49side. No respect at all. But then fancies a look. He knows that he

0:06:49 > 0:06:55needs to clear that Ferrari. Hamilton, way down the road already.

0:06:55 > 0:07:02Jensen Button into third place. We expected that to be a Red Bull in

0:07:02 > 0:07:10front of him and not fernery. Hamilton leaves the Grand Prix. --

0:07:10 > 0:07:15Ferrari. They come to complete the end of the first lap. Rosberg,

0:07:15 > 0:07:21Schumacher. That determined move by Nico Rosberg to regain that place

0:07:21 > 0:07:28that he lost in the first corner. Hamilton leads by 2.5 seconds. We

0:07:28 > 0:07:33have the tyre. Double trouble. have spoken so much about that. We

0:07:33 > 0:07:39will see the replay. He goes through the gears. He already has

0:07:39 > 0:07:47the puncture. Was that damage from running on to the kerb? He will is

0:07:47 > 0:07:51on the far side. The inside tyre was on the outside of the kerb.

0:07:51 > 0:07:55They do use that through qualifying but what is different is the tyre

0:07:55 > 0:08:03pressure is low, they are not optimal. Because you do that slow

0:08:03 > 0:08:12lap to the grid. That puts a lot more movement and frequency into

0:08:12 > 0:08:17the vibration. Let's see how it is all shaping up. Rubens Barrichello

0:08:17 > 0:08:21making his way to the back of the field. Finally, Sebastian Vettel

0:08:21 > 0:08:26comes into the pits and his luck has run out. I never thought I

0:08:26 > 0:08:33would be saying that this year. Is the higher tyre going on? No, it

0:08:33 > 0:08:39looks like it is over. Because he has damaged the brake? He has made

0:08:39 > 0:08:44a real mess of this. Having to do that whole lap. The floor was

0:08:44 > 0:08:52damaged and the exhaust. And the wishbone, which is the clincher.

0:08:52 > 0:09:02That is that, that has to be his first retirement for how long?

0:09:02 > 0:09:12Korea last year, his engine blew up. Lewis Hamilton, his lead has gone

0:09:12 > 0:09:16

0:09:16 > 0:09:26to 2.7. Hamilton, Alonso, bottom, Webber. -- Jenson Button. Kobayashi,

0:09:26 > 0:09:33

0:09:33 > 0:09:37what a start he has had. We have Sauber. Sergio Perez, in the pits.

0:09:37 > 0:09:41He has got up close and personal to someone. It is almost a carbon copy

0:09:41 > 0:09:51of last year. Lewis Hamilton was very conservative. Sebastian Vettel

0:09:51 > 0:09:52

0:09:52 > 0:09:54gets onto the kerb. Nothing unusual, relative to the cars behind. Turn

0:09:54 > 0:10:00number two, that was already damaged. Punctured already? He got

0:10:00 > 0:10:08off the line well. The team would know that from the telemetry. If

0:10:08 > 0:10:13the alarm was going off? Maybe it was just deflating slowly. Nothing

0:10:13 > 0:10:21unusual at this point. And immediately, that is a sudden

0:10:21 > 0:10:26deflation of the tyre. Some very happy faces in the McLaren cockpit!

0:10:26 > 0:10:29I am pretty sure that it was on that kerb. Don't forget, they are

0:10:29 > 0:10:35quite low pressure at that point, putting a lot of energy into this.

0:10:35 > 0:10:42Christian Horner. The end of the world, you would think! So much

0:10:42 > 0:10:52pain. Bruno Senna, getting a very poor start. It must be said. And he

0:10:52 > 0:10:53

0:10:53 > 0:11:01goes around the outside. Very cautiously. On a hard tyre. He has

0:11:01 > 0:11:04pitted already and changed those tyres. He has either had contact

0:11:04 > 0:11:08some time around the first lap or the strategy was to get the slower

0:11:08 > 0:11:12tyres out of the way. This is a replay of Fernando Alonso passing

0:11:12 > 0:11:15Jensen Button. The battle was so interesting, Nico Rosberg and

0:11:15 > 0:11:22Michael Schumacher. Nico Rosberg was not happy after India. Because

0:11:22 > 0:11:29of the strategy that Mercedes used. So, aggressive driving from Nico

0:11:29 > 0:11:39Rosberg. Look, I want to be the team leader. Today, I am having

0:11:39 > 0:11:45

0:11:45 > 0:11:49this. And he finally got the job done later. Hamilton, his lead was

0:11:49 > 0:11:572.8 but Fernando Alonso has taken two tenths out of that. And Mark

0:11:57 > 0:12:05Webber is the fastest in the first sector. Will they be able to manage

0:12:05 > 0:12:08or decrease that gap? Sebastian Vettel isn't in the Grand Prix. The

0:12:08 > 0:12:12first time we have said that since Korea last year and his engine blew

0:12:12 > 0:12:19up. His trainer. Almost trying to calm him down. That looks pretty

0:12:19 > 0:12:26unlucky. Mark Webber alongside Jensen Button. That looks like the

0:12:26 > 0:12:36position has been taken. That is a replay. He is the second DRS zone.

0:12:36 > 0:12:39

0:12:39 > 0:12:48He can pop open his wing. Double DRS. Deep into the corner. He makes

0:12:48 > 0:12:56that stick. Having a word with Sebastian. He has a great deal of

0:12:56 > 0:13:06affection for Sebastien. He would make the perfect son-in-law! Paul

0:13:06 > 0:13:07

0:13:07 > 0:13:11di Resta, in the DRS son. He will get the benefit. There he goes.

0:13:12 > 0:13:16Defensive on the inside. Clean around the outside. The DRS is

0:13:16 > 0:13:21working. The drivers said they did not think it would. That is twice

0:13:21 > 0:13:25we have seen the driver recovering. Pretty easy, you would have to say?

0:13:25 > 0:13:35This year has been so difficult to predict, the performance of the

0:13:35 > 0:13:39

0:13:39 > 0:13:49races. Kobayashi. Passing Liuzzi and Daniel recorder. -- Daniel

0:13:49 > 0:13:51

0:13:51 > 0:13:54Ricciardo. An important battle between the boys from Hitachi. He

0:13:54 > 0:13:59needs to establish his career and show Red Bull but he is a man for

0:13:59 > 0:14:05the future. Antonio Liuzzi, trying to hang in there with his career.

0:14:05 > 0:14:12He has worked his way down to the back of the grid. To show the top

0:14:12 > 0:14:22teams that he still has it. D'Ambrosio well ahead of him.

0:14:22 > 0:14:30

0:14:30 > 0:14:37two HRTs fighting for all they're worth. All of a sudden, what we

0:14:37 > 0:14:42consider supremely younger drivers, like Ricciardo, they are under

0:14:42 > 0:14:49pressure from the drivers in GP 2. TEAM RADIO: I've got another

0:14:49 > 0:14:55problem. Jenson Button carrying some kind of mechanical issue?

0:14:55 > 0:14:59didn't hear the first part of the broadcast. It could be KERS. They

0:14:59 > 0:15:02can send messages from the cockpit to the pit wall without

0:15:02 > 0:15:05broadcasting on the radio, they will have a multi-function switch

0:15:05 > 0:15:10which will tell them the tyre performance, without giving away

0:15:10 > 0:15:14too much information to the competition. Jenson has decided to

0:15:15 > 0:15:20go on the radio and broadcast that, he will know we will pick up that

0:15:20 > 0:15:24message. Mark Webber is closing in. He has set the fastest first sector.

0:15:25 > 0:15:32The replay here of Sebastian Buemi and Paul di Resta, a late pass on

0:15:32 > 0:15:36the brakes, down into turn eight. Again, indeed DRS zone. You can see

0:15:36 > 0:15:41the white line. And once again, Paul di Resta passes him, a little

0:15:41 > 0:15:45bit of a wobble on the braking. That could be the setting for the

0:15:45 > 0:15:52KERS harbour Sting. That is a straightforward DRS shoot-out. Do

0:15:52 > 0:15:56you like that? It is artificial but it is exciting nonetheless. Yes, at

0:15:57 > 0:15:59least... They extended the first one because the drivers told them,

0:15:59 > 0:16:05the drivers were telling them that they still couldn't overtake

0:16:05 > 0:16:13anybody. Look how fast Mark Webber is down the straight. He is in the

0:16:13 > 0:16:21DRS zone, he will get another helping of the two, there is a

0:16:21 > 0:16:25detection.... We have had the second one. This is for real.

0:16:25 > 0:16:29Sebastian Buemi goes past Paul di Resta. Paul di Resta will be able

0:16:29 > 0:16:34to open his DRS down the next straight and will he return the

0:16:34 > 0:16:38compliment? He does. But Sebastian Buemi much more defensive this time

0:16:38 > 0:16:45and Paul di Resta just breezes down the outside, but the back end

0:16:45 > 0:16:49Stakes at -- step said. He gets the inside line. Well that cost him

0:16:49 > 0:16:54another place? He is in trouble, he has got to stay so close to him

0:16:55 > 0:16:58coming out of turn five to get back on terms if he wants the help of

0:16:59 > 0:17:04the DRS. Paul di Resta will need the best lap he has got. He is

0:17:04 > 0:17:07trying to get rid of those slower, harder compound tyres. At this

0:17:07 > 0:17:12stage, they have less grip and that is why they will be pulling away

0:17:12 > 0:17:17from him. He will get his plot -- pay back later on in the race,

0:17:17 > 0:17:22because everyone has to use both tyres, as the sun begins to set and

0:17:22 > 0:17:27the floodlights begin to dominate. Ted Kravitz has news. TED KRAVITZ:

0:17:27 > 0:17:32It is a KERS failure for Jenson Button. McLaren are trying --

0:17:32 > 0:17:38telling him to do everything he can to rebid his system, but that is a

0:17:38 > 0:17:43big job. Jenson Button wishing he had 13 fingers in that cockpit and

0:17:43 > 0:17:51all the time, he has to hold off Mark Webber. He is right on top of

0:17:51 > 0:17:56him. Webber has got the DRS Open. Jenson Button hasn't got any KERS

0:17:56 > 0:18:01and Webber has the inside line. They touch, more or less. Through

0:18:01 > 0:18:05he goes, sensible driving by Nick Jenson Button, cutting back up the

0:18:05 > 0:18:12inside and a retaking the position. Smart driving, he knew he was going

0:18:12 > 0:18:16to lose out. A Felipe Massa it closes in and watches. He is now 15

0:18:16 > 0:18:21seconds off the lead in fifth place. Clever driving from Jenson Button,

0:18:21 > 0:18:25I really thought Mark Webber had got the job done. He went for it,

0:18:25 > 0:18:31but it looks like he baled out of it. People's out and says he is

0:18:31 > 0:18:35coming through and then get some of brakes so early -- he pulls out.

0:18:35 > 0:18:44Great wheel-to-wheel stuff here, and then smart reactions from

0:18:44 > 0:18:48Jenson, he cut back and positions his car. Felipe Massa is in the pit.

0:18:48 > 0:18:53The first of the front-runners to stop. On go the soft tyres again,

0:18:53 > 0:18:56the yellow markings tell us that. They will run that until the end of

0:18:56 > 0:19:02the race. That confirms what we have been hearing it, that Ferrari

0:19:02 > 0:19:05are not happy with this harder tyre. This will be a sighter, Ferrari

0:19:05 > 0:19:15will use this to understand what they should do with Fernando Alonso.

0:19:15 > 0:19:21He has got the gap to Hamilton down to 1.9 seconds. If Felipe Massa

0:19:21 > 0:19:26starts recording some serious times, they will bring Fernando back in.

0:19:26 > 0:19:30It was the end of lap 15, so you think they are using him as a

0:19:30 > 0:19:36guinea pig? Because it is quite Delhi. It is indeed. You would

0:19:36 > 0:19:46think the window for a two-stop would be 17 or 19. But at the fuel

0:19:46 > 0:19:50burns off, it is easier on the next set of tyres -- as the fuel. He has

0:19:50 > 0:19:57to get a move on here. For all the battling they have been doing, it

0:19:57 > 0:20:05has allowed the gap to Fernando Alonso in front to widen to 10

0:20:05 > 0:20:11seconds. It is costing them dear love. McLaren are in the pit lane.

0:20:11 > 0:20:16Hamilton. Ferrari react straight away. Lookout close he is, 1.9

0:20:16 > 0:20:22seconds is the gap between them -- look how close. McLaren putting on

0:20:22 > 0:20:26the soft tyres, as they are in the Ferrari. That look like a super pit

0:20:26 > 0:20:33stop from McLaren. Not quite so good, he can get out clear. We have

0:20:33 > 0:20:38Jenson Button in as well. 3.64 Lewis Hamilton, four seconds for

0:20:38 > 0:20:42Alonso. Interesting strategy from McLaren.

0:20:42 > 0:20:47That was quite tight to bring good Lewis and then Jenson immediately

0:20:47 > 0:20:54afterwards. You wouldn't expect them to do that. We have seen Red

0:20:54 > 0:20:58Bull doing it area in the year. Alonso dipping a tyre, two tyres

0:20:58 > 0:21:03onto the white line, before he got on to the racetrack. I think he is

0:21:03 > 0:21:10all right on that one. TED KRAVITZ: It was very tired, good work by the

0:21:10 > 0:21:13McLaren guys, they had about six seconds to get everyone in position

0:21:13 > 0:21:20-- a title. The Jenson Button was that longer than he should have

0:21:20 > 0:21:27been. Webber pits. He had to wait for Felipe Massa and Nico Rosberg

0:21:27 > 0:21:33as well. Oh, dear, it is all going horribly wrong for Red Bull. 9.4

0:21:33 > 0:21:39seconds. So who was in that zone? Felipe Massa. Felipe Massa has gone

0:21:39 > 0:21:43through, he is right behind Jenson Button. We will see Mark Webber

0:21:43 > 0:21:49appearing. That has cost him massively. A lap too late and he

0:21:49 > 0:21:54goes very wide on the exit of turn three. An angry Mark Webber, just

0:21:54 > 0:21:58when he needed the perfect pit-stop. Red Bull are the best, just ahead

0:21:58 > 0:22:03of Mercedes-Benz, on average, through this year. They have been

0:22:03 > 0:22:07the top two teams, but that won't help of Red Bull's average at all.

0:22:07 > 0:22:14There is Jenson Button and he has a new pursuer in this shape of Felipe

0:22:14 > 0:22:19Massa. Look how far behind that has put Mark Webber. Nico Rosberg is

0:22:19 > 0:22:28still back down there, having now pitted as well. He lost a place to

0:22:28 > 0:22:33Felipe Massa but not Rosberg. RADIO: Jenson, Rosberg has pitted,

0:22:33 > 0:22:41he is out of the picture. A for the moment. That is the wonderful thing

0:22:41 > 0:22:45about engineers, psychologically, as he has got the replay, and there

0:22:45 > 0:22:52is mark where they're getting extremely wide through turn three.

0:22:52 > 0:22:55A -- Mark Webber. Fernando Alonso has got the gap down to the leader.

0:22:55 > 0:22:58We want to see a different winner to Sebastian Vettel just for a

0:22:58 > 0:23:03change but I am sad he is not in the race, because this would have

0:23:03 > 0:23:07been tremendous. Potentially it was going to be great, but the only

0:23:07 > 0:23:11thing I can't quite work out is how his Alonso managing to keep Lewis

0:23:11 > 0:23:17Hamilton so honest, we have not seen this pace from Ferrari all

0:23:17 > 0:23:22weekend. His Lewis just running defensively, got his engine mode

0:23:22 > 0:23:26turndown? Just basically doing enough to maintain the gap, or is

0:23:26 > 0:23:31this everything he has got? If he is, we wouldn't be seeing much of a

0:23:31 > 0:23:41race. You think Vettel would be gone. I think so. These are

0:23:41 > 0:23:43

0:23:43 > 0:23:49shuffling up nicely. Maldonado in the pits. Running wide. He lives

0:23:50 > 0:23:54for another day. We expected a lot more of that are at last year, and

0:23:54 > 0:23:59in the first two races, but Maldonado merely the first race at

0:23:59 > 0:24:07to connect with the pit wall. -- Nia Ali. Did you ever do that?

0:24:07 > 0:24:10I did, unfortunately. Adelaide 1995, I was leading. Hermann Tilke, I

0:24:10 > 0:24:17spoke to him and I asked him to tell me about the pit turn, why

0:24:17 > 0:24:26would you want those beautiful Grand Prix cars being driven on the

0:24:26 > 0:24:33track event? TEAM RADIO: Webber is 1.6 seconds behind you. This is

0:24:33 > 0:24:38good. Gentle encouragement from Rob Smith there. I will finish my story

0:24:38 > 0:24:43on Hermann Tilke the, the designer of the racetracks. I said why do

0:24:43 > 0:24:48you hide the cars underneath the tunnel? People want to see Grand

0:24:48 > 0:24:52Prix cars. And he said, that wasn't my design. Teflon shoulders. He

0:24:52 > 0:25:01designed the track but not the peter out. Look at the closing

0:25:01 > 0:25:08speeds for Felipe Massa or. Jarno Trulli is in there somewhere.

0:25:08 > 0:25:18Felipe Massa is on good form, you would have to say. Mark Webber

0:25:18 > 0:25:23starting to catch him. Felipe Massa gets him a handy -- gets himself a

0:25:23 > 0:25:33handy DRS zone. Annie Get ever- closer to Jenson Button. -- and he

0:25:33 > 0:25:35

0:25:36 > 0:25:40gets. Paul di Resta pits finally for Force India. Jenson Button,

0:25:40 > 0:25:48then, his troubles are not over. They are fighting hard for that

0:25:48 > 0:25:57third place, as we watch Paul di Resta or cautiously going through

0:25:57 > 0:26:02that tunnel on to the pit straight. But then and Felipe Massa, third

0:26:02 > 0:26:11and fourth. Felipe Massa is now close to getting into the turn --

0:26:11 > 0:26:17DRS turn. He will have himself in the DRS zone at the end of this lap,

0:26:17 > 0:26:21but Mark Webber will also be within it. The predator becoming the prey.

0:26:21 > 0:26:26Hamilton has just extended his lead by nearly one second on the

0:26:26 > 0:26:36previous lap from Alonso, so I don't spell it Alonso had any

0:26:36 > 0:26:36

0:26:36 > 0:26:46traffic. We will see on the drive a tractor -- I don't know if. We will

0:26:46 > 0:26:47

0:26:47 > 0:26:52time through this particular bit of traffic. Webber has done the

0:26:52 > 0:26:57fastest first sector of anybody to getting ever closer. Does he get

0:26:57 > 0:27:01DRS? Yes, he is within a second. The trouble is he has the slowest

0:27:01 > 0:27:09car and a straight line can he can barely get out of his own way. It

0:27:09 > 0:27:16is handy around the corners and it worked for him there. As you say,

0:27:16 > 0:27:21the predator becomes the prey. His mirrors are full of the bright

0:27:21 > 0:27:27yellow nose. He hasn't looked as confident on the brakes. This is

0:27:27 > 0:27:33turn 11, where we saw him attend to go down the side of Jenson but then

0:27:33 > 0:27:41bail out of it. -- attempt. He has the pace but in the braking zone,

0:27:41 > 0:27:46the Ferrari and McLaren are more comfortable. Maldonado with the

0:27:46 > 0:27:50drive-through penalty. He must have nightmares about blue flags. They

0:27:50 > 0:27:55have gone straight for a drive- through penalty, cut-and-dried that

0:27:55 > 0:28:00one. Derek Warwick is the driver representative on the panel of

0:28:00 > 0:28:07stewards this weekend. A new fastest lap for Lewis Hamilton,

0:28:07 > 0:28:14another half a second on to his lead, it is 4.6 now. Lewis has

0:28:14 > 0:28:20turned up here and looked straight away like the old Lewis. Just got

0:28:21 > 0:28:24in it, got on with it. No tantrums, nothing is going on around Lewis

0:28:24 > 0:28:29other than driving. There is nothing missing in his armoury. He

0:28:29 > 0:28:36seems emotionally, sometimes, like he is not in the race. Very wide

0:28:36 > 0:28:42that they hairpin. Turn seven, that gives Mark Webber his best chance

0:28:42 > 0:28:47to open his DRS and go for the past. I expect Felipe Massa to open the

0:28:47 > 0:28:52inside line. Clear defence, trying to use the extra grip. Can he make

0:28:52 > 0:28:56it stick? He runs wide. Now Felipe Massa needs to keep it neat and

0:28:56 > 0:29:03tidy and get his own helping of DRS. His rear tyres don't look too

0:29:03 > 0:29:09healthy. Felipe Massa should have given up the early... He is coming

0:29:09 > 0:29:13back at him. Down into 11, brave on the brakes. He has taken it

0:29:13 > 0:29:18straightaway. Mark doesn't like that braking area falls that he is

0:29:18 > 0:29:28struggling and all of this is playing into Jenson Button's hands.

0:29:28 > 0:29:34

0:29:34 > 0:29:39Whilst they squabble over position, Felipe Massa has had nine top-six

0:29:39 > 0:29:45finishes but never better than 5th place. We can see him getting out

0:29:45 > 0:29:54of shape. They really go wide into that and cut back. This is where he

0:29:54 > 0:30:00had to go defensive. It was half- hearted. The DRS got him straight

0:30:00 > 0:30:10back. Mark Webber choosing not to defend. The movement was done

0:30:10 > 0:30:13

0:30:13 > 0:30:19before the second apex. Jensen Button's Cerys is back. -- KERS.

0:30:19 > 0:30:25Fernando Alonso has just done the fastest lap of the race. The gap is

0:30:25 > 0:30:34down to 5.1 seconds. As the world's fastest spectator looks on. Here is

0:30:34 > 0:30:40Paul di Resta. He has just lost one place. He was right behind Rubens

0:30:40 > 0:30:48Barrichello and he has now also behind Vitaly Petrov. From last on

0:30:48 > 0:30:54the grid, up to 10th place. Paul di Resta, with the help of the DRS,

0:30:54 > 0:31:02alongside the Russian. He returns at complement in a hurry. Let's see.

0:31:02 > 0:31:06These guys will be causing themselves time. To keep outside

0:31:06 > 0:31:10that one second DRS zone. This is a great comeback from Rubens

0:31:10 > 0:31:16Barrichello. He is the most experienced man on the grid. He

0:31:17 > 0:31:21doesn't have a drive lined up for next year. Why it Webber pits.

0:31:21 > 0:31:29Crucial information for Hamilton. His lap times are starting to level

0:31:29 > 0:31:35off. There is a set of options going on. They will put them one at

0:31:35 > 0:31:40the end? Three stops. We present he will only want to do a couple of

0:31:40 > 0:31:47laps or maybe even the last lap on the prime tyres. He has to get back

0:31:47 > 0:31:53into this race. He was running 2.9 seconds behind Felipe Massa. He has

0:31:53 > 0:31:58come out behind Jarno Trulli and has a lot of free air. He has to

0:31:58 > 0:32:04deliver a bunch of qualifying laps. This will give Hamilton and

0:32:04 > 0:32:09Fernando Alonso gets some vital information. We expected they would

0:32:09 > 0:32:12be trying to take this out of the late 30s before coming in for what

0:32:12 > 0:32:18we would expect to be the last stop but if the lap times are holding,

0:32:19 > 0:32:28they will push this even further. 19 laps to go. It costs 20 seconds

0:32:28 > 0:32:34to make a stop. He has to be a 1.75 seconds faster to make that

0:32:34 > 0:32:41worthwhile. That extra stop. And the tyres are not that much faster.

0:32:42 > 0:32:49The gap is 4.2 between them. Fernando Alonso will not give up.

0:32:49 > 0:32:59You sense that there was Hamilton has got this under control. Mark

0:32:59 > 0:33:08Webber has just pitted. McLaren. Jensen Button. The medium compound.

0:33:08 > 0:33:13If this keeps going and he keeps eating into the lead of Lewis

0:33:13 > 0:33:19Hamilton, a he has got to be looking at coming in. Bruno Senna

0:33:19 > 0:33:25is under investigation for ignoring blue flags. We have three drivers

0:33:25 > 0:33:29currently? Fantastic news for Ferrari. They want to go as long as

0:33:29 > 0:33:34they can to win the race, they will go much longer than Lewis Hamilton,

0:33:34 > 0:33:42they know how hard he is on the tyres and they say that the wearer

0:33:42 > 0:33:46and stir with Alonso is very good. Let us see how long they can last.

0:33:46 > 0:33:50Bruno Senna will get a drive through for that infringement, the

0:33:50 > 0:33:59blue flag rule. His uncle would not have been too impressed with the

0:33:59 > 0:34:05blue flag rule. You think that Ferrari will struggle on the slower

0:34:05 > 0:34:10tyres? That is the information we have had. Obviously, this track

0:34:11 > 0:34:17evils with each lap. The scare stories are usually not so scary on

0:34:17 > 0:34:24a Sunday. We believe that Ferrari have been trying to avoid a harder

0:34:24 > 0:34:30tyres. We have seen it in other races. As we go end to the cool of

0:34:30 > 0:34:38the night, the temperature is down to around 29 degrees, a difficult

0:34:38 > 0:34:43day they have is switching on to the harder tyres. -- the difficulty.

0:34:43 > 0:34:47Fernando Alonso has just done the fastest first sector. This is a

0:34:47 > 0:34:55replay of Barrichello and Kovaleinen. They should not be too

0:34:55 > 0:35:02much of the battle. He has lost a piece of his front wing. Touching

0:35:02 > 0:35:07the inside kerb. McLaren are in the pit lane. Here is Lewis Hamilton.

0:35:07 > 0:35:13What of Ferrari do? They need to pit. To put those white marked

0:35:14 > 0:35:18tyres on. There they are. Another tremendous pit-stop from McLaren.

0:35:18 > 0:35:24That looked super slick. Ferrari are reacting to that

0:35:24 > 0:35:28stopped. They are in the pit lane. Alonso carried on. They do not need

0:35:28 > 0:35:33to worry about showing their hands. They are ready. They need to

0:35:33 > 0:35:39deliver a better pit stop. Then Felipe Massa in the pit lane.

0:35:39 > 0:35:44Because Alonso carried on. Hamilton also pose a bit slower tyres. That

0:35:44 > 0:35:49isn't how it has worked out with Mark Webber. We heard that at no

0:35:49 > 0:35:54point has the white marked higher ever been degrading faster than the

0:35:54 > 0:35:59yellow. There is traffic immediately for Felipe Massa.

0:35:59 > 0:36:07Kovaleinen exits. What is crucial is that it Fernando Alonso can keep

0:36:07 > 0:36:17delivering lap times, he can jump Hamilton at the stop. He has not

0:36:17 > 0:36:26matched his best second sector. He has some traffic. He is clear. This

0:36:26 > 0:36:32is absolutely crucial. Hamilton will be under pressure. Mark Webber

0:36:32 > 0:36:42has got his DRS Open. And there is more group from those tyres. Jensen

0:36:42 > 0:36:47

0:36:47 > 0:36:51Button has made the change of tyres.. Another helping of DRS.

0:36:51 > 0:36:55That extra grip, he should be sailing past? He has a problem in

0:36:55 > 0:36:58the braking zone. Trying to go up the inside, into turn number 8. I

0:36:58 > 0:37:04wonder if that damage to the floor is affecting him? It is still

0:37:04 > 0:37:14flapping away. That tiny amount makes a huge difference to the

0:37:14 > 0:37:17

0:37:17 > 0:37:27balance of these cars. Battling with Rubens Barrichello. He will

0:37:27 > 0:37:28

0:37:28 > 0:37:35look left. He says, I am leading. I am going down the outside. Fernando

0:37:35 > 0:37:45Alonso, 18.4. If he is going to win, he has to keep this going. Look at

0:37:45 > 0:37:47

0:37:47 > 0:37:53this. Mark Webber, for position. He has the inside line. Jensen Button

0:37:53 > 0:38:00decided not to brave this. Mark Webber, such an affect on that

0:38:00 > 0:38:02corner. He might not be in the DRS zone. He might have been told that

0:38:02 > 0:38:06Mark Webber put another set of faster tyres on. Maldonado decides

0:38:06 > 0:38:09to get out of everybody's way. He will be investigated after the race

0:38:09 > 0:38:16for that second infringement. This is the move from Mark Webber. To

0:38:16 > 0:38:21take that position away from Jensen Button. He said to him very clearly,

0:38:21 > 0:38:29I am coming through! He took a beeline for the apex. Some battling

0:38:29 > 0:38:32going on. It does not look like Fernando Alonso has got enough pace

0:38:33 > 0:38:37in the middle sector to make this stick. He had just over 2.5 seconds

0:38:37 > 0:38:47to find. His lead is 20 seconds exactly over Hamilton with one stop

0:38:47 > 0:38:52

0:38:52 > 0:39:02to make. If he could really attack that pit out, have a fantastic in-

0:39:02 > 0:39:04

0:39:04 > 0:39:11lap and attack that, he will be right on to him. Very close indeed.

0:39:11 > 0:39:16Hamilton has some traffic ahead of them. Kobayashi, Perez. The lap

0:39:16 > 0:39:22times are in the mid-44s. They will not be that easy to pass. Hamilton

0:39:22 > 0:39:27is four tenths quicker than Alonso. The Ferrari mechanics are in the

0:39:27 > 0:39:35pit lane. It's the only thing they can do, it isn't working, they have

0:39:35 > 0:39:44to come in. He has an HRT pitting in front of him. This will cost

0:39:44 > 0:39:50time. If HRT do a reasonable pit- stop at the far end, he will be

0:39:50 > 0:39:54leaving the pit box at the same time. Ferrari seem to be a long

0:39:54 > 0:40:04time going on. Hamilton exiting the last corner. Passing the commentary

0:40:04 > 0:40:07

0:40:07 > 0:40:13box. 5.2. I thought it looked a bit slow. As he edges through. But it

0:40:13 > 0:40:21is easy now. Steady pit stop. Hamilton comfortably in the lead.

0:40:21 > 0:40:25There it is. The tyres on Fernando Alonso will be drier and he has to

0:40:25 > 0:40:35get speed onto those. He needed track position. McLaren is probably

0:40:35 > 0:40:41

0:40:41 > 0:40:45quicker on those tyres. Ted was there. The problem was Alonso was

0:40:45 > 0:40:48rocking from side to side so not only did the guy on the right rear

0:40:48 > 0:40:58have an issue, but the man on the front left was also struggling. It

0:40:58 > 0:41:06did not work. Alonso could not be fast enough at the end. It was

0:41:06 > 0:41:16worth Ferrari trying but the slow stop did not help. At least he gets

0:41:16 > 0:41:18

0:41:18 > 0:41:23the DRS. But Mercedes are so quick. He did not open the DRS. Now he can

0:41:23 > 0:41:33pull away. They both have to stop again. That suggests that Mark

0:41:33 > 0:41:37Webber has got what he needs. That will not do much for him? He will

0:41:37 > 0:41:47be behind Felipe Massa. They tried something different. And on this

0:41:47 > 0:41:53day in history, it has not worked. Hamilton was 5.7 seconds ahead.

0:41:53 > 0:42:02That has gone down, 5.4. As Fernando Alonso crosses the line.

0:42:02 > 0:42:10He has bought himself six seconds. As soon as he passed them. Rosberg

0:42:10 > 0:42:13betting on this lap. He was annoyed after India, he felt that the team

0:42:13 > 0:42:17allowed Michael's strategy to jump him during the race. I was talking

0:42:17 > 0:42:21to someone from the team he suggested, you must toughen these

0:42:21 > 0:42:30boys up, they have to know that they are racing all the way. And

0:42:30 > 0:42:35Rosberg has responded superbly. Fantastic pit stop from Mercedes.

0:42:35 > 0:42:39The front man probably did not enjoy that too much. It has to be

0:42:39 > 0:42:48the second worst job in Formula One after lollipop man. Do they get

0:42:48 > 0:42:55paid extra? I don't know. They should be. Felipe Massa. How is he

0:42:55 > 0:43:05doing? His fight with Mark Webber. They are effectively having a good

0:43:05 > 0:43:06

0:43:06 > 0:43:10race. 25 seconds? He has had problems, he has spun out. That has

0:43:10 > 0:43:18now nailed this battle with Mark Webber. He welcome out in front of

0:43:18 > 0:43:27him after the stop. That has taken the pressure off Red Bull massively.

0:43:27 > 0:43:31Lab 51. Sebastien Vettel spins out. What that puncture. Having led on

0:43:31 > 0:43:35the first corner. Lewis Hamilton accepted that gift. And he just

0:43:35 > 0:43:39took off into the lead. And he built that lead very quickly but

0:43:39 > 0:43:44Fernando Alonso started taking it back, having passed Jensen Button

0:43:44 > 0:43:49earlier on in the race. Jensen Button held on from lap number 12.

0:43:49 > 0:43:56He was having issues with his KERS. Once he began to manage that, he

0:43:56 > 0:44:01was OK. Mark Webber's first stop was heavily delayed. The We'll did

0:44:01 > 0:44:05not go on properly and he was passed by Felipe Massa. The KERS

0:44:06 > 0:44:10came back on in-lap 33 and at that point Felipe Massa passes Mark

0:44:10 > 0:44:17Webber for 4th place. And the Red Bull cars decided to put Mark

0:44:17 > 0:44:27Webber crucially on three stops. Felipe Massa spinning off. That it

0:44:27 > 0:44:30

0:44:30 > 0:44:38will show is over. Other what has considerably on Lewis Hamilton, but

0:44:38 > 0:44:45it wasn't enough. Webber is pushing for fourth place. Let's see where

0:44:45 > 0:44:50he finishes up. We watch Sergio Perez running over the bollard on

0:44:50 > 0:44:55the inside of the corner. We have got Daniel Ricciardo dropping out

0:44:55 > 0:45:01of the Grand Prix, he is the fourth retirement, we have lost Sebastian

0:45:01 > 0:45:10Buemi, d'Ambrosio and of course, Vettel. Hamilton is by 7.8 seconds

0:45:10 > 0:45:15over Alonso. -- Leeds. Webber still lapping incredibly quickly, still

0:45:15 > 0:45:21in the traffic as well. And there is Jenson Button, who will inherit

0:45:21 > 0:45:27third place when Webber makes the necessary pit stop to put the same

0:45:27 > 0:45:34tyres on that Jenson Button has got now. Having gone for a free stop.

0:45:34 > 0:45:42Rosberg is still behind Felipe Massa. They are clear-up Michael

0:45:42 > 0:45:52Schumacher. Paul di Resta or his ninth. If Force India had two cars

0:45:52 > 0:45:55

0:45:55 > 0:46:01in their point. -- in the points. It is Toro Rosso who are missing

0:46:01 > 0:46:05out today in that great scrap we have got going on between Force

0:46:05 > 0:46:10India, Sauber and Toro Rosso, for the world championship positions.

0:46:10 > 0:46:16It will mean that millions of pounds for them. Webber fastest

0:46:17 > 0:46:21again in the middle sector. With the throttle pedal nailed. Surely

0:46:21 > 0:46:28expecting... It looks a bit rushed, considering it was going to have to

0:46:28 > 0:46:38happen. He is going to have to pit now and he does. So Mark Webber,

0:46:38 > 0:46:39

0:46:39 > 0:46:43then, to have the mandatory tyres, so he has used both compounds.

0:46:43 > 0:46:49Interesting strategies and different concept, and I like that

0:46:49 > 0:46:54idea that they have to use two different types of tyre. Jenson

0:46:54 > 0:46:59Button going through turn one, under no pressure. Farquhar becomes

0:46:59 > 0:47:04said comfortably in first place -- fourth place -- Mark Webber comes

0:47:04 > 0:47:08out comfortably in fourth place. won't be the happiest Australian in

0:47:08 > 0:47:14the world at the end of that. Incredibly, he hasn't won a Grand

0:47:14 > 0:47:17Prix all year and this would have been a perfect opportunity. But

0:47:18 > 0:47:26with one thing and another, he doesn't seem to be able to get the

0:47:26 > 0:47:30track position to make it stick. He has got the pace. Hamilton is in

0:47:30 > 0:47:351014 of the 21 of this racetrack. We lost Vettel barely, it took some

0:47:35 > 0:47:43of the fizz out of the race, it must be said. Hamilton will not

0:47:43 > 0:47:52care, he is coasting, for Eau Rouge has to go, two left and two right -

0:47:52 > 0:47:58- four corners to go. Lewis Hamilton takes the final turn, the

0:47:58 > 0:48:02short run to the line. Hamilton is back and so on -- are McLaren.

0:48:02 > 0:48:08Tremendous victory here in Abu Dhabi. Lewis Hamilton beats

0:48:08 > 0:48:13Fernando Alonso, he comes over the line in second place. 8.4 seconds

0:48:13 > 0:48:22adrift. Wonderful race for Hamilton, at McLaren are so urgently needed

0:48:22 > 0:48:27that victory. One race to go this season, as Jenson Button, who will

0:48:27 > 0:48:33make it two McLaren drivers on the grid, yet another podium for him.

0:48:33 > 0:48:37He ended up 26 seconds off the pace. Webber will take fourth. The

0:48:37 > 0:48:43various dramas for him this afternoon, the slow pit-stop, the

0:48:43 > 0:48:51different strategy. And a full 25 seconds for Felipe Massa. Batty's

0:48:51 > 0:48:56Jarno Trulli who finishes 18 -- a bat is. TEAM RADIO: Brilliant,

0:48:56 > 0:49:06brilliant race, Lewis. A fantastic race, superbly controlled race from

0:49:06 > 0:49:07

0:49:07 > 0:49:12start to finish. Brilliant job, guys, as always. Fantastic, guys, I

0:49:12 > 0:49:17am so glad to do it for you. There is a little shuffle that we haven't

0:49:17 > 0:49:23seen for a little while, and Lewis Hamilton goes to give his team a

0:49:23 > 0:49:27hub. I love the scenes, the pure emotion, the sharing of the moment.

0:49:27 > 0:49:33That is his mother. She won't have heard, probably, that he was

0:49:33 > 0:49:39wishing have a happy birthday. She will get that later. -- wishing her.

0:49:39 > 0:49:44The celebrations begin. The relief begins for Lewis Hamilton. Back on

0:49:44 > 0:49:49form, that is what we came to expect from him. Under pressure

0:49:49 > 0:49:54from Alonso, who wouldn't ever letting quite breathe easy death.

0:49:54 > 0:50:01Vettel out with that tyre problem - - wouldn't let him quite breed

0:50:01 > 0:50:05easily. Lewis Hamilton accepted the gift and made for the race his own.

0:50:05 > 0:50:09JAKE HUMPHREY: What a race. Sebastian Vettel gets his first

0:50:09 > 0:50:12retirement of the season, Lewis Hamilton gets his first win in Abu

0:50:12 > 0:50:16Dhabi. Fernando Alonso had incredible pace behind Lewis,

0:50:16 > 0:50:20Jenson Button had issues but still came back third and a frustrating

0:50:20 > 0:50:28race for Mark Webber. Michael Schumacher just behind his team-

0:50:28 > 0:50:34mate Nico Rosberg and Paul di Resta for -- with a strong dive -- drive.

0:50:34 > 0:50:40Jenson Button can now longer be caught by his team-mate, but he is

0:50:40 > 0:50:43and confirmed as second yet. The constructors has been a walk in the

0:50:43 > 0:50:47park for Red Bull. McLaren and Ferrari are run the positions they

0:50:47 > 0:50:53will finish. The fight remains for Force India, Sauber and Toro Rosso.

0:50:53 > 0:50:56Let's hear from the drivers. Congratulations, it was a well-

0:50:56 > 0:51:03controlled race, a faultless race by the team. You think that is one

0:51:03 > 0:51:08of your best? I do, definitely. It is always difficult to remember all

0:51:08 > 0:51:12of the Grand Prixs you participate in. I have had some great victories

0:51:12 > 0:51:16in the past, but I really feel, obviously, it has been a while

0:51:16 > 0:51:21since I won and it feels fantastic, to put that kind of performance in

0:51:21 > 0:51:24and not make mistakes. I am very much my biggest critic, so I am

0:51:24 > 0:51:29always judging how many mistakes I make, pit-stops and all those

0:51:29 > 0:51:34things, and I felt I could maximise everything today. And also, the

0:51:34 > 0:51:40team did a fantastic job with the strategy. And with the pit stops,

0:51:40 > 0:51:47they were top class. I felt the whole package today came together

0:51:47 > 0:51:51and I owe them a big thank you. After the first lap, it was not

0:51:51 > 0:51:57special, it was more or less the same as the others, but we attacked

0:51:57 > 0:52:01Webber down the outside in turn one and then we had the Sebastian

0:52:02 > 0:52:07incident in back row 10 two. At that point, we thought it would be

0:52:07 > 0:52:10a long race of defending second position. But it was not like that,

0:52:10 > 0:52:14at the car was performing well, the pace was so good that we were

0:52:14 > 0:52:19looking more to Hamilton and the victory than in the mirror, so that

0:52:19 > 0:52:24was a surprise. It was one of those days when the car is better than

0:52:24 > 0:52:29expected. My KERS failed pretty early on and it was difficult to

0:52:29 > 0:52:33keep up. You don't just to lose on power, you lose a lot of lap time

0:52:33 > 0:52:37when you are using it in the corners, but you lose all of the

0:52:37 > 0:52:40engine braking that it gives you, so it was pretty tricky and towards

0:52:41 > 0:52:47the end of the race, they found a way of curing the issues, pushing

0:52:47 > 0:52:50loads of buttons and getting it working. It worked on two laps at

0:52:50 > 0:52:55the time and then it disappeared, but you don't know it has, so you

0:52:55 > 0:52:59suddenly hit the brakes and the car doesn't slow down, so it is quite

0:52:59 > 0:53:04scary, lots of Button pushing and I am on the podium, so I am pretty

0:53:04 > 0:53:08happy, considering it was a bit of a mess. Fair play to Lewis, he did

0:53:08 > 0:53:12a great job today and I think the whole team have had a good weekend.

0:53:12 > 0:53:17Typical day? An enjoyable day? She decided to switch strategy halfway

0:53:17 > 0:53:21through, because on lap 12 you were saying it was getting difficult,

0:53:22 > 0:53:26handling the car, so did you decide to go to a one-stop? That was

0:53:26 > 0:53:32always a plan. That should the plan. But it didn't work out, we thought

0:53:32 > 0:53:35most cars would be like that. We chose to switch the cars ahead of

0:53:35 > 0:53:39tyre strategy ahead of the race and this which the other car quite

0:53:40 > 0:53:44quickly, when you see the performance of the primes on my car,

0:53:44 > 0:53:50it was hard for the first 30 laps, pretty slow, but I suppose the

0:53:50 > 0:53:54thing is we have come away with a double points score and week out

0:53:54 > 0:53:59the strategy, so something tells you there. It secures more than six

0:53:59 > 0:54:04the place in the constructors ahead of Brazil, --, which we need to

0:54:04 > 0:54:07maintain. To be honest, at the exit of the first corner, it seemed fine

0:54:07 > 0:54:13but turning into the second corner, I felt something was wrong with the

0:54:13 > 0:54:18rear right, and had to crash -- catch the car, and the second time,

0:54:18 > 0:54:23I couldn't do it any more. I had lost too much air in the rear right

0:54:23 > 0:54:25and had a puncture and spun off. And on the way back, I damaged the

0:54:25 > 0:54:29suspension so badly that we couldn't carry on.

0:54:29 > 0:54:34Let's get the thought of David Coulthard. The sun has gone down,

0:54:34 > 0:54:37the beautiful hotel is lit up, we thought Sebastian would light up

0:54:37 > 0:54:46the race but it turned out to be Lewis Hamilton. We wondered when

0:54:46 > 0:54:52his luck would run out and it ran out at turn ABBA back row here at -

0:54:52 > 0:54:55- at 10 two here. But Lewis, a great victory. We have heard

0:54:55 > 0:54:59stories over the years of drivers when there has been a tragedy or a

0:54:59 > 0:55:03big accident, they desperately search for the answers and we have

0:55:03 > 0:55:07spoken to Sebastian and he has done exactly that same thing. He has

0:55:07 > 0:55:12been down to luck that the corner to try and understand, was it

0:55:12 > 0:55:16something with the kerb, he has met with the Pirelli engineers. You

0:55:16 > 0:55:19want to know if it was a driver error or car failure and then you

0:55:19 > 0:55:23move on. The team will want to do exactly the same but they have had

0:55:23 > 0:55:27an incredible run of good fortune. He has won the World Championship,

0:55:27 > 0:55:30it didn't mean he didn't want to win this weekend, but they don't

0:55:30 > 0:55:34think anyone would disagree that Lewis Hamilton was a worthy winner

0:55:34 > 0:55:38of this Grand Prix. He has dealt with his personal issues off the

0:55:38 > 0:55:41track and it doesn't seem to have held him back behind the wheel.

0:55:42 > 0:55:45crowds have been enjoying themselves, there have been packed

0:55:45 > 0:55:50grandstands, the perfect time for Lewis Hamilton to turn on the style.

0:55:50 > 0:55:54It is indeed, he wants to find his form and McLaren haven't quite done

0:55:55 > 0:55:58it this year in terms of the driver and Constructors' Championship, but

0:55:58 > 0:56:03it was an impressive race pace here and it would have been a close-run

0:56:03 > 0:56:06thing had Sebastian not had his issues. It sets them up for one

0:56:06 > 0:56:11more Grand Prix in Brazil and then the all important development phase

0:56:11 > 0:56:16into next year. The chassis well have been designed, it is adding

0:56:16 > 0:56:19those final parts that will see the cars roll-out in January.

0:56:19 > 0:56:24Fascinating period in the season. Red Bull still have the quickest

0:56:24 > 0:56:29car on paper but McLaren pick up the win today and in the race,
