0:01:01 > 0:01:05Hi there welcome to a chance to reflect on the 2011 German Grand

0:01:05 > 0:01:11Prix from the Nurburgring. Here at the the circuit which is the second

0:01:11 > 0:01:16highest on the Formula One calendar, the weather is unpredictable. It

0:01:16 > 0:01:20has been an unpredictable season apart from the man at the front.

0:01:20 > 0:01:25Sebastian Vettel has been leading and all the others have been

0:01:25 > 0:01:32fighting it for second place. Mark Webber occupies that spot at the

0:01:32 > 0:01:38Webber occupies that spot at the moment. This is how things looked

0:01:38 > 0:01:43in the constructor's Championship. So all the action coming your way,

0:01:43 > 0:01:52but first here is Leigh with what happened in a dramatic qualifying

0:01:52 > 0:01:58session. Sebastian Vettel has dominated qualifying this season x

0:01:58 > 0:02:05-- but could he do it in front of his home crowd. First German out

0:02:05 > 0:02:11was Timo Glock who made hids thoughts clear -- his thoughts

0:02:11 > 0:02:15clear do his Virgin team. It is so difficult to drive. Paul di Resta

0:02:15 > 0:02:22has outqualified his team mate this season, yesterday, Adrian Sutil was

0:02:22 > 0:02:26too quick. But Paul di Resta thinks force India's policy hampered his

0:02:26 > 0:02:31performance. It is Force India's policy, the management have taken

0:02:31 > 0:02:35that decision. Ace said yesterday, it was closer, but it has done me

0:02:35 > 0:02:39damage. I will need to tray and go for it in the race. Ferrari and

0:02:39 > 0:02:43Fernando Alonso had been fighting at the front all weekend and looked

0:02:43 > 0:02:48likely to challenge for pole. But far from being disappointed,

0:02:48 > 0:02:52Fernando Alonso said he was where he expected to be. I don't know why

0:02:52 > 0:02:56you're disappointed with our performance, but the practice is

0:02:56 > 0:03:02practice, qualifying is when everyone shows the potential.

0:03:02 > 0:03:08was mixed fortunes for McLaren, Jenson Button hated to /- had to

0:03:08 > 0:03:15pull out of his final lap. Strange we can't find the grip out there.

0:03:15 > 0:03:22To be in seventh is surprising. Also to be 1.1 seconds belandlady

0:03:22 > 0:03:28Lewis, something is not quite right. -- behind Lewis, something is not

0:03:28 > 0:03:33quite right. But Lewis Hamilton battled hard and ended up just five

0:03:33 > 0:03:38hundredth of a second off pole. was as perfect as I could do it. I

0:03:38 > 0:03:43don't know how I could make it more perfect. It was one of best lapse I

0:03:43 > 0:03:48have done NQ3 usually your first lap is good and to g back out, you

0:03:48 > 0:03:52go beyond the limit and usually go slower. But I went four tenths

0:03:52 > 0:03:57faster. I don't know where I found that. That left two, the charging

0:03:57 > 0:04:02Red Bulls. One German who would love to win his Grand Prix and an

0:04:02 > 0:04:07Australian who has previously tamed the Nurburgring and wouldn't mind

0:04:07 > 0:04:12spoiling the party again. Vob put in an electrifying lap, leaving

0:04:12 > 0:04:16Sebastian Vettel to settle for third. I'm not disappointed, we had

0:04:16 > 0:04:22a tricky day yesterday, and I wasn't quite happy with the balance.

0:04:22 > 0:04:28I think we did a good job to come back. I was faeling more come

0:04:28 > 0:04:33forable today. I was happy with my last lap. We made a change across

0:04:33 > 0:04:38Q2 into Q36789 the engineers did a sensational job and the polis for

0:04:38 > 0:04:43them. I wouldn't have got that without the adjustments to the car.

0:04:43 > 0:04:48So Mark Webber starts at the the front for the third time this year,

0:04:48 > 0:04:56with Lewis Hamilton alongside. The Ferraris are fourth and fifth with

0:04:56 > 0:05:00Jenson Button pus puzzled with his lack of speed in seventh. Paul di

0:05:00 > 0:05:05Resta is 12th with the Williams beHein. Sebastien Buemi qualified

0:05:05 > 0:05:1016th, but moves to the back of the grid after a fuel sample didn't

0:05:10 > 0:05:20match the bun to the FIA. Karun Chandhock is in for Jarno Trulli

0:05:20 > 0:05:20

0:05:20 > 0:05:30for his Grand Prix and Vitantonio Liuzzi starts in 23rd. MARTIN

0:05:30 > 0:05:35BRUNDLE: Round ten of the Formula One Championship. Six German

0:05:35 > 0:05:40drivers, a quarter of this grid, all hoping for home glory. The

0:05:40 > 0:05:48lights have been on for three and a half seconds for all of the support

0:05:48 > 0:05:53races. And they come on one at a time. There they're. Four, five one,

0:05:53 > 0:05:57two three and a half, go! The German Grand Prix is under way. It

0:05:57 > 0:06:04is neck and neck, but Lewis Hamilton in the second face of the

0:06:04 > 0:06:08-- phase of the start takes the lead. Mark Webber nit -- in a

0:06:08 > 0:06:11Ferrari sandwich. Fernando Alonso is ahead of Mark Webber. Lewis

0:06:11 > 0:06:17Hamilton leads from Sebastian Vettel. Sorry Lewis Hamilton leads

0:06:17 > 0:06:23from Mark Webber. Then Sebastian Vettel. Rosberg is in there as well.

0:06:23 > 0:06:28Fernando Alonso will not yield. There is a spinner at the back.

0:06:28 > 0:06:32That is at turn three. Who was that? A lot going on in the

0:06:32 > 0:06:37background. There then is Jenson Button up the inside of Michael

0:06:37 > 0:06:42Schumacher. So another poor getaway for Jenson Button. He has lost

0:06:42 > 0:06:47places off the grid and Lewis Hamilton leads from Mark Webber,

0:06:47 > 0:06:55Fernando Alonso. It may have been Paul di Resta that had the spin.

0:06:55 > 0:06:59I'm looking at the track map. We have Heidfeld and Paul di Resta.

0:06:59 > 0:07:02the back, Michael Schumacher in the thick of the traffic and so we

0:07:02 > 0:07:06think that Fernando Alonso is between the two Red Bulls still.

0:07:06 > 0:07:09Lewis Hamilton from Mark Webber, Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel.

0:07:09 > 0:07:15And we're watching the midfield. There is Rubens Barrichello in

0:07:15 > 0:07:17front of Kobayashi. That is for eleventh and 12th. Look at the lead

0:07:18 > 0:07:24that Lewis Hamilton has got from Mark Webber and then Fernando

0:07:24 > 0:07:27Alonso and then Sebastian Vettel, Rosberg, Massa, Sutil, Michael

0:07:28 > 0:07:32Schumacher, Rubens Barrichello, Kobayashi, Pastor Maldonado. And

0:07:32 > 0:07:39that takes us down to 13th place. Lewis Hamilton will lead at the end

0:07:39 > 0:07:45of the first lap. It is 60 laps for the Grand Prix. And down into the

0:07:45 > 0:07:51heavy brake zone for turn one they file. In a long line. 24 hours

0:07:51 > 0:07:55still running. But Heidfeld and Paul di Resta right at the back.

0:07:55 > 0:08:00There must have been contact with them. There then is Fernando Alonso.

0:08:00 > 0:08:09Off the race track. Into turn three, he has been passed by Sebastian

0:08:09 > 0:08:14Vettel. He is on the kerb on that long turn two. He lost the back end,

0:08:14 > 0:08:18but plenty of tarmac to regain position. Thrill with be some

0:08:18 > 0:08:25choice words in that cockpit. He has released Sebastian Vettel.

0:08:25 > 0:08:31Rosberg is right in there as well. Adrian Sutil looking handy in

0:08:31 > 0:08:36seventh. Michael Schumacher then has passed eepast Petrov on this

0:08:37 > 0:08:45lap. I hope we will get a replay of that. You see the winners of the

0:08:45 > 0:08:49start, Button down three places. Michael Schumacher has been a

0:08:49 > 0:08:56mighty starter this year and there is Jenson Button, still down in

0:08:56 > 0:09:02tenth place. Here is a replay of the start. Holding constant RPM,

0:09:02 > 0:09:08start toos drop his RPM, Mark did a terrible start. He lost auto

0:09:08 > 0:09:14control the longer he held position. The revs just faded away as the

0:09:14 > 0:09:18moment came. I wonder if the clutch was starting to bite. Here is

0:09:18 > 0:09:21Fernando Alonso. You can see the smoke coming off the tyres of Lewis

0:09:21 > 0:09:25Hamilton. And that second phase, that Lewis Hamilton just flew and

0:09:25 > 0:09:30then Fernando Alonso looking for the inside. We see Sebastian Vettel

0:09:30 > 0:09:34locking up and the droppaway in turn one. Fernando Alonso lock up

0:09:34 > 0:09:38as well, but keeping the position. Brave stuff from Fernando Alonso he

0:09:38 > 0:09:43could have lost his nose. It almost like he hit the limiter before he

0:09:43 > 0:09:51moved into second. Felipe Massa had a flaying start, but he had nowhere

0:09:51 > 0:09:56to go and oh so close for Sebastian Vettel. Let's see if we can see, if

0:09:56 > 0:10:02we follow this cam ra, hopefully, what happened later on. That is

0:10:02 > 0:10:08then getting on to the water. That is sitting in the carpeted area to

0:10:08 > 0:10:12dissuade the drivers from rung wide. That is where Fernando Alonso lost

0:10:12 > 0:10:16third place. Sebastian Vettel has done the fastest lap of the race.

0:10:16 > 0:10:21He is dealing with a lot of understeer in the Ferrari. Could be

0:10:22 > 0:10:26a combination of heavy fuel, or just struggling to get tyre

0:10:26 > 0:10:32temperature. Sebastian Vettel that he tenths of second faster than

0:10:32 > 0:10:37Mark Webber and Lewis Hamilton. have got once again Lewis Hamilton

0:10:37 > 0:10:41banging in these first sectors. Again four tenths quicker than Red

0:10:41 > 0:10:48Bulls. We saw from qualifying, he has such a good front end on that

0:10:48 > 0:10:56McLaren. The first sector is all about front grip. You're 0.3

0:10:56 > 0:11:01seconds quicker. Let's get past him. Unless he will ruin our race.

0:11:01 > 0:11:07does not sound like an option that. Sounds like a firm instruction.

0:11:07 > 0:11:14Fernando Alonso into turn one. He has made it and he has been quick.

0:11:14 > 0:11:18That is not a DRS thing, is a -- that is a pure overtake. Sebastian

0:11:18 > 0:11:22Vettel has been wearing a heavy demeanor, an unhappy face all

0:11:22 > 0:11:27weekend. He has not looked as confident as he has so far this

0:11:27 > 0:11:32season. What would be interesting, if we could see the use of KERS.

0:11:32 > 0:11:38Wouldn't be surprised if Fernando Alonso used all his KERS into that

0:11:38 > 0:11:43first corner. He is confident with the brakes. That is the sort of

0:11:43 > 0:11:48thing we will see Felipe Massa try to do on Nico Rosberg. That was

0:11:48 > 0:11:53extraordinary how behind he was. Maybe he gave ate full punch of

0:11:53 > 0:11:56KERS. But he is still darting around. It was a bold move from

0:11:56 > 0:12:06Fernando and almost caught Sebastian Vettel out. Lens lops

0:12:06 > 0:12:07

0:12:07 > 0:12:12then up into third. -- -- Fernando Alonso up into third place. Jenson

0:12:12 > 0:12:18Button's weekend is going from bad to worse. And Perez has pitted for

0:12:18 > 0:12:25Sauber. He is normally the man that never wants to come in the pits. He

0:12:25 > 0:12:30runs all day on the same tyres. It pays him dividends. But he has been

0:12:30 > 0:12:35off the track and continued at turn ten. Maybe he has put a flat spot

0:12:35 > 0:12:39into those tyres. We can't see from here. But a word on Jenson Button.

0:12:39 > 0:12:46From McLaren. There noise issues with his car. We will see a --

0:12:46 > 0:12:52there is no issues with the car. We can see the battle behind. That is

0:12:52 > 0:12:58Paul di Resta getting down the inside. Inside Heikki Kovalinan.

0:12:58 > 0:13:08That is a straight forward pass, like taking candy from a kid.

0:13:08 > 0:13:10

0:13:10 > 0:13:14Perez, we saw a horrible flat spot. That is the reigning watch yon,

0:13:14 > 0:13:18Sebastian Vettel, he has lost seven seconds in the middle sector.

0:13:19 > 0:13:25Rosberg must be all over. And there he is. There is Sebastian Vettel.

0:13:25 > 0:13:30Now having Rosberg for company, along with Felipe Massa. Sebastian

0:13:30 > 0:13:35Vettel has made an error at turn ten. That is the chicane at the top

0:13:35 > 0:13:43of the hill. And what is going wrong with the man who could make

0:13:43 > 0:13:48no mistakes, who was unbeatable in teams of pace and consis tenty si.

0:13:48 > 0:13:53-- consistency. He gets on the white line. That is a mistake from

0:13:53 > 0:13:57Sebastian Vettel. The one rule on a damp track, is don't touch the

0:13:57 > 0:14:02white lines. Fernando Alonso gets away with it. T but he gets right

0:14:02 > 0:14:05on to the artificial grass where the water is and he will have flat

0:14:05 > 0:14:10spots. He will be struggling to vision for his braking points with

0:14:10 > 0:14:14the vibration he will have. We have Heidfeld off the road. Mr Reliable

0:14:14 > 0:14:19has crashed. He is normally the man that finishes race after race.

0:14:19 > 0:14:28Somewhere near the points. And that, he has had, that is clearly contact

0:14:28 > 0:14:32with somebody else. That remind me of an didn't -- that reminds me of

0:14:32 > 0:14:36an incidents I had with Fernando Alonso many many years ago. That

0:14:36 > 0:14:43was nasty. That is a case of Sebastien Buemi not being aware of

0:14:43 > 0:14:47where the other car. Heidfeld was entitled to put his car there.

0:14:47 > 0:14:52Heidfeld coming back through the field. That was like you and

0:14:52 > 0:14:56Fernando Alonso, except you didn't touch. That almost look like it us

0:14:56 > 0:15:00fast forward. That is a scary incident. If you looked at

0:15:00 > 0:15:10Sebastien Buemi, he was looking left in his mirror and he couldn't

0:15:10 > 0:15:18

0:15:18 > 0:15:24see Heidfeld and moved over. He the track. Nick Heidfeld was given

0:15:24 > 0:15:33a drive-through penalty for causing a collision. That was with Paul di

0:15:33 > 0:15:38Resta, at the start of the race. He will be suspended. Some he is out

0:15:38 > 0:15:45of his home Grand Prix. Massa is in position to get back now. Paul di

0:15:45 > 0:15:51Resta -- Nico Rosberg will be doing the same thing, this is a battle of

0:15:51 > 0:15:58aerodynamic drag and horsepower. Massa says, I have got it this time.

0:15:58 > 0:16:07They will be saying on the radio, well done, son! The collision...

0:16:07 > 0:16:13Nick Heidfeld is under two incidents being investigated. This

0:16:13 > 0:16:18is a replay of Massa he got himself into the right track position. He

0:16:18 > 0:16:25would not be intimidated and I do not know if they quite touch but

0:16:25 > 0:16:32Massow takes that position. It will be -- if Felipe Massa. He is 13

0:16:32 > 0:16:38seconds from the lead in fourth place. Mark Webber half a second

0:16:38 > 0:16:46behind Lewis Hamilton. Your pace is still very good, the gaps are not

0:16:46 > 0:16:55opening up quickly behind us, so keep looking after the tyres.

0:16:55 > 0:17:02has gone too deep! Mark Webber will come through here. Lewis tries to

0:17:02 > 0:17:08defend against it. Out of shape on the apex. Lewis is back and he

0:17:08 > 0:17:17comes up the inside using the extra straight lines! That is just pure

0:17:17 > 0:17:21speed! And Alonso watching closely. He must be loving seeing that go on.

0:17:21 > 0:17:27Hamilton is back in the lead, he never wants to give up, just like

0:17:27 > 0:17:32in Istanbul when him and Jenson Button were trading places. When he

0:17:32 > 0:17:37is overtaken, he sees that as another opportunity to overtake.

0:17:37 > 0:17:45That is fantastic. I thought he was too late at the last corner but he

0:17:45 > 0:17:52was using that as an opportunity to pass. I wondered if he went to deep

0:17:52 > 0:17:57into the chicane. Those transmissions on normally delayed

0:17:57 > 0:18:03but he is often asleep absolutely on the edge of what that car will

0:18:03 > 0:18:12do at the moment -- he is obviously absolutely. Lewis Hamilton get wide

0:18:12 > 0:18:20on the first apex and that allows Mark Webber a clean run into the

0:18:20 > 0:18:26turn. He uses a 10 kilometre or an hour speed advantage McLaren has. -

0:18:26 > 0:18:31- 10 kilometre or an hour. opportunist driving again from

0:18:31 > 0:18:41Hamilton but Mark Webber is still on top of him. And the Ferrari will

0:18:41 > 0:18:42

0:18:42 > 0:18:47also be able to use that BRS down the back straight into the chicane.

0:18:48 > 0:18:54-- DRS. And you cannot help but think they have more pace than

0:18:54 > 0:19:00Hamilton. Mark Webber has track position still but is very date --

0:19:00 > 0:19:06but is very wide indeed! It is now a one so he will have better

0:19:06 > 0:19:11acceleration. Going up -- it is now Fernando Alonso has. Virtually

0:19:11 > 0:19:17guaranteed contact driving into an -- driving into a wedge that will

0:19:17 > 0:19:23disappear. He must think he can win this race. He has seen Mark Webber

0:19:23 > 0:19:33battling with Lewis Hamilton and overheating his tyres. He has been

0:19:33 > 0:19:37

0:19:37 > 0:19:42drifting it into ten macro 7. -- turn 7. Tyres soon, I think he said.

0:19:42 > 0:19:49Meanwhile, at Felipe Massa is the fastest man on the track. Another

0:19:49 > 0:19:57great fight going on, Sebastian Vettel holding off the second

0:19:57 > 0:20:03Ferrari of Felipe Massa. And we are in lap 14 of the 60 lap race. They

0:20:03 > 0:20:09have their wings wide open but are not that close to Hamilton. It

0:20:09 > 0:20:18difficult breaking his own. If you break five metres too early, if you

0:20:18 > 0:20:24give up seconds. Too late and you will sale of the race track. -- you

0:20:24 > 0:20:33will sail away from the race track. Tie is being prepared for a Red

0:20:33 > 0:20:38Bull driver. Mark Webber has pitted. No new tyres, at no new soft tyres

0:20:38 > 0:20:48available. And can he gets out in front of the fight between

0:20:48 > 0:20:53Sebastian Vettel and Felipe Massa? Nico Rosberg has pitted. Mark

0:20:53 > 0:20:57Webber is now in traffic so that has not worked well in that respect.

0:20:57 > 0:21:03Let's see if he can clear that Force India of Adrian Sutil to get

0:21:03 > 0:21:09back into play quickly. He is trying to get full use of the new

0:21:09 > 0:21:19tyres but is sitting in traffic at the moment. Still trying to make

0:21:19 > 0:21:23

0:21:23 > 0:21:27his way past the Renault of Vitaly Petrov. I have seen a few drivers

0:21:27 > 0:21:32in the support race go round the outside of that corner and make-up

0:21:32 > 0:21:37some ground. Jenson Button getting increasingly frustrated I imagine

0:21:37 > 0:21:44in tenth place, just Clear off Kamui Kobayashi, but miles of the

0:21:44 > 0:21:47leader's pace. -- just clear. Mack this is Felipe Massa or on

0:21:47 > 0:21:54Sebastian Vettel. He is hesitant but he makes it and makes the

0:21:54 > 0:21:59second apex. And Mark Webber has gone down the outside, Sebastian

0:21:59 > 0:22:09Vettel has gone into the pit, half- hearted stab my Lewis Hamilton has

0:22:09 > 0:22:14done his pit stop and it will be a race. We have got Felipe Massa at

0:22:14 > 0:22:19and Mark Webber! Mark Webber needs to make sure he does not damage his

0:22:19 > 0:22:26car because he now has track position on Lewis Hamilton. And

0:22:26 > 0:22:33Fernando Alonso. Felipe Massa right in the thick of the action but has

0:22:33 > 0:22:42yet to make his pit stop. So the under car worked for Mark Webber.

0:22:42 > 0:22:47Crucially past Adrian Sutil, he used the grip of the fresh tyre --

0:22:47 > 0:22:54tyre. And he found himself some extra tax base. And he is now in

0:22:54 > 0:22:59second place a. For Felipe Massa could be used strategically to help

0:22:59 > 0:23:05Fernando Alonso. I do not see mechanics yet but keep an eye on

0:23:05 > 0:23:15that, beneath a 15 second warning. It will be somewhere round the back

0:23:15 > 0:23:17

0:23:17 > 0:23:22straight. Mark Webber has got fresher tyres. The Ferrari has the

0:23:22 > 0:23:31straight-line speed, I do not see any Ferrari mechanics in the pit

0:23:31 > 0:23:35lane so Felipe Massa will see out another lap. He has better

0:23:35 > 0:23:41acceleration, but Mark Webber will lead a lap of this Grand Prix

0:23:41 > 0:23:48because Felipe Massa is going to pit. And this will be fascinating

0:23:48 > 0:23:54out to sea if he can pull away and create a lead while these two of

0:23:54 > 0:23:59fighting. Look at the confidence Alonso has underbraking. And it

0:23:59 > 0:24:02looks as though it is starting to rain. Confidence in the Ferrari

0:24:02 > 0:24:10mechanics who did not come out into the pit lane until Fernando Alonso

0:24:10 > 0:24:16had entered the beginning of the pit lane. We did not see that. And

0:24:16 > 0:24:26look, at Mark Webber making space between him and Hamilton and

0:24:26 > 0:24:29

0:24:29 > 0:24:39Fernando Alonso. And we are on the 18. -- turn 18. And we can see

0:24:39 > 0:24:44Sebastian Vettel back on the racetrack. He has come back behind

0:24:44 > 0:24:54Felipe Massa. He has just come out of the pits so Sebastian Vettel has

0:24:54 > 0:24:59lost track position. So they have both pitted and it goes from bad to

0:24:59 > 0:25:06worse for the World Championship leader. He is now effectively in

0:25:06 > 0:25:12fifth place. There are other cars to have yet to pit between them. --

0:25:12 > 0:25:20who have yet. That is a replay of how it kicked off after the pit

0:25:20 > 0:25:26stop. Mark Webber has already made his stop, Felipe Massa has not. And

0:25:26 > 0:25:31this is how it looked. You are not allowed to cross the line coming

0:25:31 > 0:25:36out of the pit, you can cross the line into the pit lane when you

0:25:36 > 0:25:43watch on the racetrack and they nearly met in the middle. Four --

0:25:43 > 0:25:53when you on the track. Four drivers at different speeds. Michael

0:25:53 > 0:25:58

0:25:58 > 0:26:04Schumacher has born the car! -- has spun round the car! And Jenson

0:26:04 > 0:26:11Button has not stopped yet. He is stopping on lap 25, so it will be

0:26:11 > 0:26:17interesting to see how that compares to the others. Jenson

0:26:17 > 0:26:22Button ties to slow the car down. - - tries to. And their rather

0:26:22 > 0:26:28mechanics. The last time he pitted in a Grand Prix the right front did

0:26:28 > 0:26:33not really go on. It is sweet as you like this time, and await those

0:26:33 > 0:26:39Jenson Button and let's see if he can recover his afternoon having

0:26:39 > 0:26:45lost time between Vitaly Petrov and early on. Adrian Sutil just ahead

0:26:45 > 0:26:51of him and ahead of Michael Schumacher, who is leading that

0:26:51 > 0:27:00train with Kamui Kobayashi behind him, Sergio Perez and Vitaly Petrov

0:27:00 > 0:27:08further back. Mark Webber is going to pit from the lead. They really

0:27:08 > 0:27:13stand these tyres up. They used -- they lean in at the top much less

0:27:13 > 0:27:21than I am used to seeing on Formula One tyres, it is to protect the

0:27:22 > 0:27:27Pirellis overheating on the inside shoulder. And we can see Karun

0:27:27 > 0:27:32Chandhok in the far chicane, spinning. 8 and 9. And not for the

0:27:32 > 0:27:42first time this weekend. A gravel track you can drive out of his

0:27:42 > 0:27:43

0:27:43 > 0:27:51rubbish! -- is rubbish. Hamilton leads the race. McLaren on out for

0:27:51 > 0:27:57Lewis Hamilton. Just inside that Orange bollard. Fernando Alonso,

0:27:57 > 0:28:07the win at Silverstone, will come through and lead this Grand Prix as

0:28:07 > 0:28:13Hamilton pickeds. Interesting now. Mark Webber has Heikki Kovalainen

0:28:13 > 0:28:19in front of him. I think Hamilton is going to do it. Mark Webber

0:28:19 > 0:28:26crosses the finish line. Wearer is he? He has done it, Hamilton has

0:28:26 > 0:28:35done it and is back in the lead. With traffic, it has helped. Canon

0:28:35 > 0:28:40Webber go out on the outside and reclaim that lead? -- can. He says,

0:28:40 > 0:28:46no way, get out of my way! Smoke coming out of the back of the

0:28:46 > 0:28:51McLaren. That does not look healthy. Has he throttled on? Normally you

0:28:51 > 0:28:57get over fell at the start of a Grand Prix with smoke like that, I

0:28:57 > 0:29:04hope that is not the first sign of it problems. -- over Phil. We are

0:29:04 > 0:29:11so used to these cars being bought prove, reliability wise. -- but

0:29:11 > 0:29:21preferred. This is a replay of button down the inside of Adrian

0:29:21 > 0:29:25

0:29:25 > 0:29:35Sutil. So he is on the march, and this is where there. -- Mark Webber.

0:29:35 > 0:29:40

0:29:40 > 0:29:44The Astroturf is full of water Hamilton just putting out a bit of

0:29:44 > 0:29:47blue smoke as Fernando Alonso pits from the lead for the second time

0:29:48 > 0:29:52this afternoon. This will be close. Lewis Hamilton leads Mark Webber

0:29:52 > 0:29:57over the line and there they're in the background and Fernando Alonso

0:29:57 > 0:30:03gets up to speed. What is going on? How does that work? Normally you

0:30:03 > 0:30:07get the undercut with the fresh tyre. Now we have seen it not

0:30:07 > 0:30:13working twice. He is round the outside. He will make this one

0:30:13 > 0:30:18stick. Fernando Alonso was caught napping. Completely, Lewis Hamilton

0:30:18 > 0:30:22drives clean around the outside and steals that lead back. And at

0:30:22 > 0:30:26brilliant move from Lewis Hamilton. Fernando Alonso just didn't cover

0:30:26 > 0:30:31it off. Lewis Hamilton is in permanent attack mode. It was like

0:30:31 > 0:30:36Fernando Alonso is, yes, I have got the lead, well done boys and then

0:30:36 > 0:30:40forgot that Lewis Hamilton could carry that fresh heat he has in his

0:30:40 > 0:30:45new tyres. Lewis Hamilton does a new fastest lap of the race. We

0:30:45 > 0:30:49will see that sensational move. Fernando Alonso has gone wide and

0:30:49 > 0:30:54doesn't cover off the outside of two. That was the point where Lewis

0:30:54 > 0:31:02Hamilton was slapping Mark Webber off the track. Fernando Alonso

0:31:02 > 0:31:06didn't try anything of the sort and the McLaren boys are enjoying that.

0:31:06 > 0:31:12Button then tries to go down the outside of Nico Rosberg for sixth

0:31:12 > 0:31:18place. Rosberg parks his car well. Can he get on the KERS and get up

0:31:18 > 0:31:24the inside? He can't, but he should get a nice slip stream down the pit

0:31:24 > 0:31:29straight. We know McLaren is fast. They have both got Mercedes engines.

0:31:29 > 0:31:34Rosberg parks it on the inside. Look at the speed of the Mercedes.

0:31:34 > 0:31:40Mercedes versus the McLaren. He has gone too dee. Button takes the

0:31:40 > 0:31:47position. He is up to sixth. Next target is Sebastian Vettel who is

0:31:47 > 0:31:57still lapping some one second, 1.2 off the pace. So he might be meat

0:31:57 > 0:31:59

0:31:59 > 0:32:07for Button to chase after. Lewis Hamilton then leads by 2.4. Four

0:32:07 > 0:32:12secondss -- seconds covers the top three. Well Nico Rosberg just on

0:32:13 > 0:32:17the inside, the dustier line. Locks off that inside front and you

0:32:17 > 0:32:23reduce your potential braking by 25%. And it was just no option for

0:32:23 > 0:32:28him but to try and reduce. You see the onboard of Mark Webber in the

0:32:28 > 0:32:33braking phase. Just getting a bit messy. He has already taken a

0:32:33 > 0:32:43ppblty for lawsing time. -- penalty for losing time. Lewis Hamilton has

0:32:43 > 0:32:45

0:32:45 > 0:32:54done another fastest lap of 35.0. And is that Jenson Button missed a

0:32:54 > 0:33:01chicane? He has got a problem. Jensen we need to box this lap. We

0:33:01 > 0:33:06have to retire the car. We have a hydraulics problem. And of course

0:33:06 > 0:33:13the hydraulics work many things on the car. Engine, gear box, throttle.

0:33:13 > 0:33:18Everything controlled by that. a shame. It was a great come back

0:33:18 > 0:33:22by Jenson Button. An awful start again. We has got to get the start

0:33:22 > 0:33:31sorted out. But then he was driving nicely. Sebastian Vettel in for his

0:33:31 > 0:33:37stop. I thought he had lost out and stalled. But let's see what that

0:33:37 > 0:33:44pit stop time was. He has put the soft tyre on. We should get a time

0:33:44 > 0:33:49as he leaves the pit lane. He then should be able to clear. It is 3.1.

0:33:49 > 0:33:53It was a good stop. I wonder if he got away that quickly? I don't

0:33:53 > 0:34:01think Heikki Kovalinan will want to attack him too hard. Heikki

0:34:01 > 0:34:05Kovalinan is 16th, leading the newer teams. Vitantonio Liuzzi has

0:34:05 > 0:34:11retired and Michael Schumacher trying not to lose another front

0:34:11 > 0:34:17wing, as he is up there against the Toro Rosso right into the final

0:34:17 > 0:34:20corner. It is Jaime Alguersuari. Perez is in front of them. What can

0:34:20 > 0:34:25Michael Schumacher do? Jaime Alguersuari is watching him.

0:34:25 > 0:34:29Michael Schumacher does the dummy dive and into what is a nice wide

0:34:29 > 0:34:35piece of track and with equal grip all the way, it is a great

0:34:35 > 0:34:40overtaking place is turn one at the Nurburgring. Wherever the other guy

0:34:40 > 0:34:46decides to defend, I nearly said offend, but this a sometimes what

0:34:46 > 0:34:51they do, then you can go the other side. But feisty driving from

0:34:51 > 0:34:58Michael. It is a pity he had that spin. He was right there with

0:34:58 > 0:35:03Rosberg. He is a chance to see the maestro giving it the dummy and

0:35:03 > 0:35:09down into the first corner. As that happens, we have Felipe Massa in

0:35:09 > 0:35:15for his second stop of the afternoon. He was in fourth place.

0:35:15 > 0:35:19What is the gap? It is to cover Sebastian Vettel. There we have

0:35:20 > 0:35:25Sebastian Vettel in the background. He has managed to make it stick.

0:35:25 > 0:35:303.2 stop. What is going on there? So Felipe Massa with track position

0:35:30 > 0:35:34and Sebastian Vettel was close behaind him before the stops. And

0:35:34 > 0:35:38remains so. But he might have a chance while Massa just finds his

0:35:38 > 0:35:43way on a fresh set of boots. And Sebastian Vettel so much quicker

0:35:43 > 0:35:47out of the corners. But he can't afford even a fifth place for

0:35:47 > 0:35:52Sebastian Vettel would be better than losing a front corner and

0:35:52 > 0:35:56dropping out of Grand Prix. If he is in the first two today,

0:35:56 > 0:36:01Sebastian Vettel, it would be a new record of ten consecutive firstor

0:36:01 > 0:36:07seconds at the start of a Grand Prix season. Now it is not looking

0:36:07 > 0:36:11likely. He is 43 second off the lead. The lead is held by Lewis

0:36:11 > 0:36:16Hamilton. He is 3.4 ahead of Fernando Alonso now. He is still

0:36:16 > 0:36:20pumping the laps in. 8.7 airhead of Mark Webber. He has been so much

0:36:20 > 0:36:27faster in is in phase of the Grand Prix. They're about 20 seconds

0:36:27 > 0:36:31clear of, at least 20 seconds clear of Felipe Massa and Sebastian

0:36:31 > 0:36:36Vettel. They have all stopped once up to Adrian Sutil. Or stopped

0:36:36 > 0:36:40twice I up to Adrian Sutil in sixth. And Sebastian Vettel locks his left

0:36:40 > 0:36:46front again. Goes through escape road and he will have to yield and

0:36:46 > 0:36:50let Massa through. When have we seen this many mistakes from

0:36:50 > 0:36:59Sebastian Vettel? Not for a long time. Maybe in his first year when

0:36:59 > 0:37:03he was a Toro Rosso new boy. We have lost four runners. The fourth

0:37:03 > 0:37:07retirement was Jenson Button. And and we found him. It is so

0:37:07 > 0:37:11disappointing to keep talking to you during races. What happened?

0:37:11 > 0:37:17The first lap I had a terrible first lap. I don't know where I

0:37:17 > 0:37:22endeded up and I couldn't get past Petrov. I did and then I got past

0:37:22 > 0:37:26the next twot guys and the pace wurz good, compared to the guys in

0:37:26 > 0:37:32front, Massa and Sebastian Vettel, so it was looking exciting and then

0:37:32 > 0:37:40we had a hydraulic issue and I had to retire the car on safety grounds.

0:37:40 > 0:37:46You never know what can happen with lie drawlics, the steering is high

0:37:46 > 0:37:51drulic - ehydraulic. You Could you have caught the guys in front. What

0:37:51 > 0:37:56are the conditions like there. There is a lack of grip? Yes, the

0:37:56 > 0:38:02first three no chance. But the next two, it was looking good. Adrian

0:38:02 > 0:38:07Sutil, who I passed before I passed Rosberg is catching Massa and

0:38:07 > 0:38:12Sebastian Vettel now. So we would have had a good race. We wouldn't

0:38:12 > 0:38:21have been in the top three, but fourth was possible. I was enjoying

0:38:21 > 0:38:26mie. What do you do now? I want to get warm and see what Lu wis --

0:38:26 > 0:38:36Lewis can do. I had some spicy sausage before I came out. I don't

0:38:36 > 0:38:38

0:38:38 > 0:38:43feel cold. That what Jenson Button needs a bit of... Don't say it.

0:38:43 > 0:38:47Michael Schumacher at up the inside of Petrov and they both fail the

0:38:47 > 0:38:53make the chicane. What are the stewards going to think about that.

0:38:53 > 0:38:57Vitaly will need to give Mike it will place back. He goes wide. He

0:38:57 > 0:39:02will have to let Michael take the place. He has gain and advantage by

0:39:02 > 0:39:07not taking the corner. I agree with you. Whether he does is another

0:39:07 > 0:39:11matter. It is irrelevant any way. Michael Schumacher takes the place.

0:39:11 > 0:39:20Mark Webber's the fastest man in the Grand Prix in the middle sector

0:39:20 > 0:39:26and he is 8.3 second off the lead. Lament's gap beginning to come down

0:39:26 > 0:39:32now. Down to 2.9 seconds. Fernando Alonso getting back on the charge.

0:39:32 > 0:39:38Felipe Massa and Sebastian Vettel 1.2 seconds apart. Michael

0:39:38 > 0:39:44Schumacher has track position. But in a -- there is a Mercedes in the

0:39:44 > 0:39:54way. They have come together a few times this year. Michael not doing

0:39:54 > 0:39:55

0:39:55 > 0:40:01his tyre any good. He will have a flat spot. Tyres starting to go off.

0:40:01 > 0:40:08And McLaren are in the pit lane. Lewis Hamilton is coming in.

0:40:08 > 0:40:14lead er pits. Petrov is still doing faster first sector on these medium

0:40:14 > 0:40:19compound slower tyres that they are obliged to use. If not, they will

0:40:19 > 0:40:25get a half a minute penalty at the end. They're new as well. That is

0:40:25 > 0:40:31is another difference. None of the key runners had any new soft tyres.

0:40:31 > 0:40:41A 3.7 second stop. Not one of the fastest. But it is about getting

0:40:41 > 0:40:49out and nailing the out lap for Lewis Hamilton. He had 2.7 seconds

0:40:49 > 0:40:55lead. A distifrpbgt tinge tifr colour change for the --

0:40:55 > 0:41:02distinctive colour change for the tyres. Now we know which three will

0:41:02 > 0:41:06be on the podium, bar any incidents. Ferrari will respond to that move

0:41:06 > 0:41:13by Lewis Hamilton. He said the tyres were going and he reacted

0:41:13 > 0:41:19instantly and came into the pit lane. And we watch him down into

0:41:19 > 0:41:27the turn seven hairpin. Paul di Resta is up into ninth. He has got

0:41:27 > 0:41:32to stop again for another set of tyres. Fernando Alonso then leads

0:41:32 > 0:41:38the Grand Prix. For the second time this afternoon. What can he do?

0:41:38 > 0:41:42Does he -- does he pit? No he is happy with his tyres. The Ferrari

0:41:42 > 0:41:46mechanics are out with the tyres. They going back into the garage.

0:41:46 > 0:41:51There has been seem communication issues. The tyres are out of

0:41:51 > 0:41:57blankets, Fernando Alonso is seven tenths quicker in the mid sector.

0:41:57 > 0:42:01Do you think they are gauging this sector by sector? And Mark Webber's

0:42:01 > 0:42:05flying now. Are they going to punish McLaren for that early stop,

0:42:05 > 0:42:09or was ate smart move that will make the difference? We don't know.

0:42:09 > 0:42:13We're about the find out in the closing stages of this race. We

0:42:13 > 0:42:23have got to watch it almost corner by corner. There is enough grip in

0:42:23 > 0:42:24

0:42:24 > 0:42:29sector one, but not in the middle part of lap. He lost the time in

0:42:29 > 0:42:32the second sector. So we need a good lap now. Crucially for

0:42:32 > 0:42:36Fernando Alonso he was able to get the advantage of seeing what Lewis

0:42:36 > 0:42:41Hamilton could do. He won't be penalised by the fact that they

0:42:41 > 0:42:46have brought the tyres out early, because they have two new set and

0:42:46 > 0:42:49they will simply bring out the other set. Good thinking! While

0:42:49 > 0:42:56they're gaining sector time on Lewis Hamilton, they won't pit.

0:42:56 > 0:43:04There is no need to. And the same or the Mark Webber -- and the same

0:43:04 > 0:43:09for Mark Webber. Fernando Alonso had traffic, did that matter?

0:43:09 > 0:43:15he lost to Mark Webber. He has lost a lot of ground. And he pits.

0:43:15 > 0:43:20Fernando Alonso pipts, having had a difficult in-lap thra. Plays into

0:43:20 > 0:43:27the hands of Lewis Hamilton. I wonder why, if Fernando Alonso

0:43:27 > 0:43:32might stay longer. Mark Webber carries on. He has done a 1.34.9.

0:43:32 > 0:43:36If he can keep pumping in that lap time. We wait for Lewis Hamilton to

0:43:36 > 0:43:41deliver his first full flying lap. There he is in the back ground. The

0:43:41 > 0:43:45only McLaren in this race and it is Lewis Hamilton. And he regains the

0:43:45 > 0:43:50position after a 3.2 second stop and Lewis Hamilton knows where the

0:43:50 > 0:43:56grip is on the tyres. Fernando Alonso has got to go and find out.

0:43:56 > 0:44:00And now it about what Mark Webber can do. Lewis Hamilton has done a

0:44:00 > 0:44:061.34.8. His fastest of the Grand Prix on the prime tyre. Mark Webber

0:44:06 > 0:44:10will have to pit on that. Unless he thinks he has got more speed in the

0:44:10 > 0:44:14clear air. This is Sebastian Vettel still trying to pass Felipe Massa

0:44:14 > 0:44:20for fourth. There is not even a tenth of a second between them.

0:44:20 > 0:44:24Mark Webber has to respond this lap. He is half a second slower in the

0:44:24 > 0:44:28first sector. You join the battle here. The soft tyres are wearing

0:44:28 > 0:44:34out. Such that it is better to take the slower but new tyre. That

0:44:34 > 0:44:38moment has arrived. Mark Webber has clan dock in front of him and he --

0:44:38 > 0:44:48Chandhock in front of him and these two are still yet to come in for a

0:44:48 > 0:45:03

0:45:03 > 0:45:10is half a second quicker on this lap. -- on this lap. Mark Webber is

0:45:10 > 0:45:15too slow and has more traffic now with Nico Rosberg. It is a lapping

0:45:15 > 0:45:20situation. Nico Rosberg get out of the way, it is not working. Red

0:45:20 > 0:45:25Bull have nothing to lose, they were third out of free and thought

0:45:25 > 0:45:31they might take a different route but it has not worked out, he is

0:45:31 > 0:45:38not fast enough -- out of freefall stop Hamilton does another personal

0:45:38 > 0:45:48best lap. The fastest still belongs to Sebastian Vettel. And that is

0:45:48 > 0:45:49

0:45:49 > 0:45:56Felipe Massa. And Mark Webber is going to pit from the lead. Four to

0:45:57 > 0:46:06go including this. Hamilton takes over the lead. He is 2.9 seconds

0:46:07 > 0:46:07

0:46:07 > 0:46:14clear. We have not seen the pit stop yet from Mark Webber but he is

0:46:14 > 0:46:20comfortably behind Hamilton and Fernando Alonso. Nobody else on

0:46:20 > 0:46:27track apart from Jerome d'Ambrosio that he needs to clear. So now they

0:46:27 > 0:46:37are quite spread out. Top three still pretty much in view in one of

0:46:37 > 0:46:37

0:46:37 > 0:46:42the Straits. And this is all about fourth place, who will blink first?

0:46:42 > 0:46:47Master and Sebastian Vettel have to pit again before the end of the

0:46:47 > 0:46:51Grand Prix -- Felipe Massa. have the Ferrari mechanics

0:46:51 > 0:47:01lingering around the pit stop box and cannot tell when they are

0:47:01 > 0:47:03

0:47:03 > 0:47:12coming out. They are coming out now. The opposite of Felipe Massa, this

0:47:12 > 0:47:17lap now. It did not happen, they missed it. He says if he goes in

0:47:17 > 0:47:21stay out and vice versa, but he did not. So they will probably follow

0:47:21 > 0:47:27each other in. You pass the finish line to come into the pit play

0:47:28 > 0:47:33macro here, Michael Schumacher did that at Silverstone in the 1990s --

0:47:33 > 0:47:43in the pit lane here. Ferrari are further down the pit line than that

0:47:43 > 0:47:48Red Bull so Ferrari have the advantage. So technically, Felipe

0:47:48 > 0:47:57Massa does need to get his car out in front of Sebastian Vettel.

0:47:57 > 0:48:07a pit stop grace. -- race. And they both have to pit. They are both

0:48:07 > 0:48:11driving the wheels of those things. The Lotus tyres need a new set, but

0:48:11 > 0:48:16these have yellow markings, they need tyres with white markings to

0:48:16 > 0:48:19avoid a penalty. And they have to do it at the end of this lap, they

0:48:19 > 0:48:25have to put this time. So by not following that instruction,

0:48:25 > 0:48:34Sebastian Vettel took away his best chance of doing that. Hamilton does

0:48:34 > 0:48:39a new fastest to build his lead. Sup Ivor Sebastian Vettel did not

0:48:39 > 0:48:46receive or understand the message or chose to ignore it -- so either.

0:48:46 > 0:48:51He is nearly into the back of him! Felipe Massa was earlier on the

0:48:51 > 0:48:58brakes and Sebastian Vettel was just a few centimetres behind him.

0:48:58 > 0:49:02Look at that, he is ahead of him! Ferrari were too slow! Massa to

0:49:02 > 0:49:11slow into the pit lane and Ferrari too slow on the pit stop, and

0:49:11 > 0:49:17Sebastian Vettel takes the position going into the final lap. So Vettel

0:49:17 > 0:49:23crucially takes fourth place away from Felipe Massa or on a final mad

0:49:23 > 0:49:28-- pit stop in order to comply with the regulations. -- in a final mad

0:49:28 > 0:49:34pit stop. A tiny little chicane here where he was immense in

0:49:34 > 0:49:41qualifying to put himself on the front row of the grid. And an easy

0:49:41 > 0:49:48right hander into the straight to take his 16th victory and surely

0:49:48 > 0:49:51one of his most satisfying for the McLaren team! Lewis Hamilton wins

0:49:51 > 0:49:56the German Grand Prix at Nurburgring, beating Fernando

0:49:57 > 0:50:03Alonso by 3.9 seconds. And third place is Mark Webber, who completes

0:50:04 > 0:50:11the podium, 9.7 seconds behind. Well ahead of Sebastian Vettel and

0:50:11 > 0:50:16Felipe Massa, a wonderful drive from Lewis Hamilton. And still

0:50:16 > 0:50:26Championship leader and in fourth place, it is Sebastian Vettel. And

0:50:26 > 0:50:30where is Felipe Massa? Presumably he is still there now. He

0:50:30 > 0:50:35helplessly watched as Vettel passed him when they were both in the pit

0:50:35 > 0:50:42lane. Red Bull won the battle of the pit stops and gained a crucial

0:50:42 > 0:50:52points for Sebastian Vettel who crosses the line for off. Over the

0:50:52 > 0:51:02line goes Pastor Maldonado. And this is Adrian Sutil, with a well

0:51:02 > 0:51:08

0:51:08 > 0:51:18deserved sixth place. Great job, guys, great job! Amazing! These are

0:51:18 > 0:51:18

0:51:18 > 0:51:27the kind of result that you get! This is Mark Webber. And this was a

0:51:27 > 0:51:32classic image of Ayrton Senna hitching a lift with Nigel Mansell.

0:51:32 > 0:51:38Her the champagne flows, at a dynamic race, at no room for

0:51:38 > 0:51:44mistakes -- H -- the champagne flows and it was a dynamic race, no

0:51:44 > 0:51:48room for mistakes, it had to be on the money.

0:51:49 > 0:51:58So let's confirm the results. Sebastian Vettel struggling for the

0:51:59 > 0:51:59

0:51:59 > 0:52:06first time this year, finishing 4th. A pretty eventful day. This is how

0:52:06 > 0:52:10it affects the drivers and constructors. The leader of

0:52:10 > 0:52:16Sebastian Vettel has been eaten into by Mark Webber. -- the lead.

0:52:16 > 0:52:23For the constructors, it is still about Red Bull. They are ahead of

0:52:23 > 0:52:30McLaren. Ferrari are sitting third. Let's hear from the drivers after

0:52:30 > 0:52:34this German Grand Prix. And -- big smiles, great overtaking,

0:52:34 > 0:52:39and imagine as a young boy dreaming of winning, it probably looks

0:52:39 > 0:52:44similar to that one? I do not know how good it looked on television

0:52:44 > 0:52:50but it was incredible in the car. I was gobsmacked at first we got a

0:52:50 > 0:52:57good start and that was a big step. The guys have been pushing hard to

0:52:57 > 0:53:01improve our starts and immediately they are exactly what we expected.

0:53:01 > 0:53:06And very difficult at the beginning of the race to hold off the guys

0:53:06 > 0:53:11behind but later they are getting faster and faster and to be able to

0:53:11 > 0:53:16do that move on Fernando felt great! There is more chance to win

0:53:16 > 0:53:21the Championship if we have the best McLaren possible. They need to

0:53:21 > 0:53:25be in the podium constantly. We have to be in front of them as well

0:53:25 > 0:53:31but we need to be very competitive as they were today and hopefully in

0:53:31 > 0:53:35Budapest, we can be in the podium and not Sebastian! Did you ever

0:53:35 > 0:53:41think you would be thinking of McLaren again? For a couple of

0:53:41 > 0:53:46months only! Do you go a -- do you go away disappointed because your

0:53:46 > 0:53:51performance has been strong? But we know the prizes are handed out on

0:53:51 > 0:53:56Sunday afternoon. Saturday has always been strong for us as the

0:53:56 > 0:54:00car, but we also want to do well on Sundays so the team will continue

0:54:00 > 0:54:05to work on that. We have good people and know what we need to do

0:54:05 > 0:54:10to find more performance on Sundays. Of course it is not satisfying but

0:54:10 > 0:54:16we have to accept that today other people were quicker. I did not feel

0:54:17 > 0:54:22very good all weekend, and never got to the pace that Mark had in

0:54:22 > 0:54:28the car and I struggled to keep up after the warm-up stage was over to

0:54:28 > 0:54:33keep up with the top three cars. A good race. No rain but the

0:54:33 > 0:54:37heavens opened. The thoughts of Eddie Jordan after Lewis Hamilton's

0:54:38 > 0:54:43second win the season and one of the best of his career! If he could

0:54:43 > 0:54:47do this more regularly, he would be absolutely in the fight for this

0:54:47 > 0:54:52Championship. He has been a champion before and we saw what he

0:54:52 > 0:54:58could do in China and again today, I just wish he could get more races

0:54:58 > 0:55:01where he is able to show us his ability. Fernando Alonso finishes

0:55:01 > 0:55:05this weekend's second on the track and he says if we can work

0:55:05 > 0:55:11alongside McLaren, we can beat Red Bull to the title. It is that

0:55:11 > 0:55:16realistic? He is looking for McLaren to send them out in the

0:55:16 > 0:55:21hope of pushing people. I think he has been very clear. He did not

0:55:21 > 0:55:26mention his team-mate in that, aided notice. If he includes his

0:55:26 > 0:55:30team-mate at McLaren, three cars are potentially capable of taking

0:55:30 > 0:55:34good points from Red Bull. If they cannot achieve that using that

0:55:34 > 0:55:40method, they certainly will not pass. Who will be more frustrated

0:55:40 > 0:55:44from Red Bull, Mark Webber for not turning poacher into a win or

0:55:44 > 0:55:48Sebastian Vettel for struggling for the first time in a race? Sebastian

0:55:48 > 0:55:53Vettel will be very disappointed and he has yet to convince me he

0:55:53 > 0:55:57has real fight, wheel-to-wheel, bodywork to bodywork. I have yet to

0:55:57 > 0:56:03be convinced he can deliver. He is probably the fastest young driver

0:56:03 > 0:56:07but still has to race to win. he will do that in Hungary in a few

0:56:07 > 0:56:15days. But Lewis Hamilton, his hopes were not washed away here in

0:56:15 > 0:56:20Germany, he wins the 2011 Grand Prix.

0:56:20 > 0:56:30Hamilton takes the lead of the Grand Prix!

0:56:30 > 0:56:31

0:56:31 > 0:56:34This is shaping up to beat another classic! -- to be another classic.
