:02:50. > :02:55.And for the first time this season the Aussie was fastest on Saturday.

:04:57. > :05:03.Look at Sebastian Vettel, crucially opening out the lead but what an

:05:07. > :05:12.Jenson Button. RADIO: Been hit by Kobayashi. What an idiot. Oh dear,
:05:12. > :05:18.it is Kobayashi, he says that took him outment and Jenson Button's
:05:18. > :05:22.race is over. Well I think what he said pretty much sums up exactly
:05:22. > :05:27.what happened. Jenson Button was on the left hand side going into turn
:05:27. > :05:31.three and Kobayashi in the Sauber came out of nowhere and hit the
:05:31. > :05:36.front right of that McLaren. Disappointment for Jenson Button.
:05:36. > :05:41.And for the hero of the hour, remember how they raced so hard

:05:56. > :06:00.has gone through safely. Perez is up to ninth. Some racing going on
:06:00. > :06:05.further back. Heikki Kovalinan ahead of Daniel Ricciardo, but

:06:11. > :06:15.Two Red Bulls up there, Ferrari, McLaren and both Lotuses in the top

:06:20. > :06:29.happened to Rosberg? He is 14th at the moment. But dropped some time
:06:29. > :06:34.at the start of this race. Jenson Button standing beside his car in
:06:34. > :06:38.the run-off area. Disappointing. Not only is he out of race and
:06:38. > :06:43.Rosberg as well. I wondered what happened to him. That is two
:06:43. > :06:51.retirements in two races. He had gone throughout the year without
:06:51. > :06:53.any retirements. Kobayashi in the pits. Hoe does restart. Let's see a
:06:53. > :06:57.replay of the start. Sebastian Vettel hooked up that start well.
:06:57. > :07:01.Lewis Hamilton was going for the gap and as the Red Bulls closed
:07:02. > :07:06.together. He had to back out and this allowed and he can see. There
:07:06. > :07:14.was contact between Jenson Button and Nico Rosberg. I think that is
:07:14. > :07:20.probably what put Nico United o' -- out of position. And they are

:07:36. > :07:41.managing to mix it, but not run alongside his team mate, Mark
:07:41. > :07:46.Webber and runs his car out to the artificial grass. Then he is in
:07:47. > :07:52.position to watch his mirrors. We know Mark came out of slip stream.
:07:52. > :07:56.Here is Alonso. You hear that shudder as the tyres vibrate and he
:07:56. > :08:01.backs out early to watch what is going on. Gets himself inside of
:08:01. > :08:08.Lewis Hamilton and Lewis Hamilton leaves a gap. Then tries to ride it
:08:08. > :08:12.out on the long run down the back straight. You can see his end plate
:08:12. > :08:18.came into vision. On board with Perez, where did he gain the
:08:18. > :08:22.places? Drives up the inside of Michael Schumacher and he did come
:08:22. > :08:28.in contact with the back of the Force India and clipped, you can
:08:28. > :08:33.see his nose, he clipped the back of Button. Not only has Jenson
:08:33. > :08:37.Button had a tap from the Sauber, hopefully we can see the contact
:08:37. > :08:44.from Kobayashi. He has a Sauber sandwich. He is the pairs in there
:08:44. > :08:48.and Kobayashi hits him again. You can see the damage on the back of
:08:48. > :08:52.Rosberg as well. Contrasting styles between those with experience and
:08:52. > :08:56.those with less experience. This is the view from outside of that same
:08:56. > :09:02.incident coming down. There is Kobayashi, he bounces off the side
:09:02. > :09:07.of Rosberg and then into the side of Jenson Button. And he has burst
:09:07. > :09:14.the radiator on the side of that Mercedes. If you ever wondered what
:09:14. > :09:20.the inside of a Pirelli tyre looks like, well it ain't pretty. Rosberg
:09:20. > :09:25.and Button walking back to the pits. Neither of them too impressed. They
:09:25. > :09:34.kept their crash helmets on. think the danger is over, unless
:09:34. > :09:39.you feel you aren't good at walking. Kobayashi has a drive-through
:09:39. > :09:44.penalty for causing a collision. will drop from last to even further
:09:44. > :09:51.last, taking that drive-through. It seems like a small penalty when you
:09:51. > :09:54.have hit a couple of cars. But what can you do in that situation?
:09:54. > :09:59.have lost Jenson Button and Nico Rosberg and it is the second time
:09:59. > :10:04.in a row that Rosberg has gone out on the first lap after going

:10:16. > :10:19.It has not been a great season for Mercedes. Mark Webber is in second.
:10:19. > :10:24.Fernando Alonso is in third and then Lewis Hamilton and Felipe
:10:24. > :10:31.Massa. Kimi Raikkonen still in sixth. Nico Hulkenberg is seventh
:10:31. > :10:39.as Kobayashi comes through the pits on the drive-through penalty and
:10:39. > :10:46.loses another 20 seconds. RADIO: We are looking at target stop lap,
:10:46. > :10:52.Lewis. Mark Webber has set fastest lap. He is 1.9 seconds behind.
:10:52. > :11:00.Let's hear from Lewis Hamilton's team mate, Jenson Button. Well, bad
:11:00. > :11:03.luck, I suppose your radio, "What an idiot, a"Says what you feel
:11:03. > :11:11.about Kobayashi. I think you may have missed something out there of
:11:11. > :11:16.what I said. It is like the race is too... Two corners long. Yeah, I
:11:16. > :11:22.got a good start and I was able to get past both Mercedes. I was on
:11:22. > :11:26.the inside of Rosberg and we were braking for the corner and Sergio...
:11:26. > :11:30.Yeah brakes late, goes on the inside. He didn't hit me, he
:11:30. > :11:35.actually hit the car in front of me and probg something off the back of
:11:35. > :11:41.that car. I had to run wide and push Nico off the circuit, so we
:11:41. > :11:46.didn't collide and then we had a drag race on the straight. That was
:11:46. > :11:51.fun. Saubers all over the back of us. I don't know what happened then,
:11:51. > :11:58.I braibgd late and saw a car coming off mine and it was the Sauber
:11:58. > :12:02.again. I don't know what is going on. It is pretty disappointing. It
:12:02. > :12:10.is a long race and so much opportunity as well. With the way
:12:10. > :12:14.the tyres were work and the DRS zone. It is a great circuit for
:12:14. > :12:18.overtaking. That it is surprising that people are driving like that.
:12:18. > :12:24.You still feel you have a chance for the Championship this season?
:12:24. > :12:30.No definitely not. But I'm... Going to enjoy myself in the next few
:12:30. > :12:36.races. But yeah, points for the team were important this weekend
:12:37. > :12:41.and... Yeah it's out of our hands really. We have Paul di Resta and
:12:41. > :12:47.Michael Schumacher side by side. They are battling over tenth place.
:12:47. > :12:54.Jean-Eric Vergne is there as well. Michael Schumacher just fepbgd off
:12:54. > :12:58.Paul di Resta, but Paul di Resta was eased out over the kufb and
:12:58. > :13:05.Jean-Eric Vergne is trying to get past Paul di Resta. He almost
:13:05. > :13:13.squeezed through. He would have strat Sri used KERS coming out of
:13:13. > :13:17.turn six. Here is re rest pulling the pass in the DRS zone. -- Paul
:13:17. > :13:20.di Resta. Michael gives him a nudge and runs wide. We need to be
:13:20. > :13:27.careful with that. Remember what happened to Sebastian Vettel when
:13:27. > :13:32.he did the same sort of thing on Jenson Button in Hockenheim. We're
:13:32. > :13:36.expecting to some see some pit action in the next lap or so.
:13:36. > :13:41.Sebastian Vettel continues to lead. The Red Bulls are rung one and two
:13:41. > :13:45.and he has just crossed the line again and his advantage nearly four
:13:45. > :13:48.seconds over Mark Webber. None of the leaders are in yet, but we're
:13:48. > :13:54.expecting some of the midfield groups. Lewis Hamilton has went for
:13:54. > :13:59.the pits. He is the first of the big boys heading for his stop.
:13:59. > :14:03.14, he is in and away again. What a rapid stop by McLaren. They're get
:14:03. > :14:08.sog good at this. Look at the amount of activity now in pit lane.
:14:08. > :14:15.They are beginning to pour into the pits. We have Huck in, Romain
:14:15. > :14:19.Grosjean in as well. -- Nico Hulkenberg in. Perez has stayed out
:14:19. > :14:22.there on the harder tyre. Romain Grosjean gets away and Nico
:14:22. > :14:27.Hulkenberg only just getting out in front of him. They have both gone
:14:27. > :14:33.on to the harder of two compounds tyres. Romain Grosjean will be in
:14:33. > :14:38.the DRS zone. So it is crucial he gets a good launch and Nico
:14:38. > :14:44.Hulkenberg has done a better job in leaving the pits. I'm surprised
:14:44. > :14:49.Lotus followed the Force India. He is being held up by Nico Hulkenberg
:14:49. > :14:53.trying to get some heat into his tyres. I would expect you go one
:14:53. > :15:03.lap longer, run in clean air and get the advantage F you follow him
:15:03. > :15:21.
:15:21. > :15:26.into the pit lane, it is completely raced here in the past. The Force
:15:26. > :15:31.India lollipop was up before that. That is strategically quite a good
:15:32. > :15:41.move. Red bow Professor -- prepare themselves. Mark Webber in from
:15:42. > :15:45.
:15:45. > :15:50.clean. Hulkenberg using his experience, Massa in as well. The
:15:50. > :15:57.pit lane exit is a bit strange and Grosjean has never raced here in
:15:57. > :16:01.the past. Hulkenberg seemed to gain an advantage out of the pit lane.
:16:01. > :16:11.It's very unusual for a pit lane to feed directly into the outside of
:16:11. > :16:18.
:16:18. > :16:22.the line. Sebastian Vettel going to lap macro 15 before he makes his
:16:22. > :16:32.stop. Gary, presumably everything going according to plan for Red
:16:32. > :16:41.Bull? Yes, Vettel out of the pits as soon as he could out -- after
:16:41. > :16:45.Webber. They are going on to the harder tyres. Alonso in as well. Is
:16:45. > :16:51.there any chance of Ferrari being able to get him out ahead? I doubt
:16:51. > :16:55.it, but let's see where they're coming past us. You will see Alonso
:16:55. > :17:03.still coming down the pit lane, so no change there. But Perez is going
:17:03. > :17:07.to be in front of him. A crucial battle there because Perez hasn't
:17:07. > :17:11.been into the pits yet, but he wants to get the place. He's got a
:17:11. > :17:16.slipstream, he's going to try and get past Alonso down the side of
:17:17. > :17:21.this long straight into turn 3. The Ferrari has the edge. The Ferrari
:17:21. > :17:25.is on the fresh tyres as well. Lewis Hamilton fancies a bit of
:17:25. > :17:30.this action. I think Fernando Alonso has used up all of his DRS
:17:30. > :17:35.in defending their position. He's a wily old fox and it looks like it's
:17:35. > :17:41.worked for him. That was very important from a Ferrari's point of
:17:41. > :17:46.view. Hamilton goes round the outside of Perez. Mixed emotions
:17:46. > :17:49.for McLaren because on one hand they've got their man of the moment
:17:49. > :17:55.one step closer to the podium. But on the other hand they are seeing a
:17:55. > :18:05.bit of experience from Perez. Sergio Perez is running this very
:18:05. > :18:14.
:18:14. > :18:18.Hamilton almost coming into contact with the back of Perez. On those
:18:18. > :18:25.fresher tyres, he almost makes contact with him. The reason I
:18:25. > :18:30.mention about the inexperience from Perez, he got past and exit of turn
:18:30. > :18:34.four. Then he ran a bit wide of those older tyres, his car clearly
:18:34. > :18:44.isn't as fast as the McLaren. A little bit sloppy to lose the
:18:44. > :18:52.
:18:52. > :19:02.there. I think he realises he's pretty much out of this one. It's a
:19:02. > :19:03.
:19:03. > :19:13.test session rather than a run for set of tyres. Massa looks good as
:19:13. > :19:17.
:19:17. > :19:21.He has to look after these tyres, he can't afford to engage in too
:19:21. > :19:27.much hard dancing because these tyres have got to last a lot longer.
:19:27. > :19:32.Yes. What he's got to do is try and run as best he can, keep the car
:19:32. > :19:36.under control, pick up positions later in the race. It's all about
:19:36. > :19:41.driving within the car right now and doing the best job possible,
:19:41. > :19:47.waiting for later on. Patience required from Perez. He's got
:19:47. > :19:53.Raikkonen bearing down on him now. Raikkonen runs 7th. Through the pit
:19:53. > :19:58.stops, Maldonado has not come into the pits yet despite being on the
:19:58. > :20:04.super soft tyre. That intrigues me. Maldonado is currently running in a
:20:04. > :20:08.place, but hasn't yet been into the pits so far. We will see if
:20:08. > :20:14.Williams are running a bit of a different strategy. We are riding
:20:14. > :20:19.on board with Kimi Raikkonen. That's what it looks like when you
:20:19. > :20:24.are up the gearbox on the car. Clearly he is quicker at this phase,
:20:24. > :20:34.different tyre strategy. He will try and get as close as he can
:20:34. > :20:36.
:20:36. > :20:46.fairly straightforward DRS pass. He is within the activation so now. He
:20:46. > :20:51.
:20:52. > :20:56.needs to be nice and tight. They Raikkonen, who overtakes Perez and
:20:56. > :21:02.moves back up into sixth place once again. Perez doing his best to stay
:21:02. > :21:05.there with these guys with a decent time on the car. His team made
:21:05. > :21:11.looks like he might well be retiring. Kobayashi's car has been
:21:11. > :21:19.pushed back into the garage. We've also seen Pedro de la Rosa's car
:21:19. > :21:26.being pushed away. We lost Button and Rosberg in first lap incidents.
:21:26. > :21:35.There is Pedro de la Rosa, sadly, he is out of his 100th Grand Prix.
:21:35. > :21:39.His 100th race as opposed to his 100th appearance. Perot has moved
:21:39. > :21:44.it to the right to defend but he knew the difference in speed and
:21:44. > :21:54.tyres. Very little you can do. Depending on your point of view,
:21:54. > :21:59.
:21:59. > :22:03.due can see the replay, it's the it as long as Derry would have
:22:03. > :22:12.thought from before. Does that mean that we are going to see him not
:22:12. > :22:15.being able to make one stop this afternoon? I think so. If he didn't
:22:15. > :22:25.go into the pits now he would end up behind Schumacher, so they are
:22:25. > :22:31.
:22:31. > :22:36.Do you think he's got the same problem with bits of rubber getting
:22:36. > :22:40.stuck? I did hear downforce. No point asking for more downforce, he
:22:40. > :22:44.isn't going to get it. It looked like he was looking down into the
:22:44. > :22:54.cockpit of his car and making an adjustment, but he's under pressure
:22:54. > :23:00.
:23:00. > :23:05.has an issue. He's not going anywhere near as quickly as the
:23:05. > :23:10.cars around him. There's definitely something going on. But is he going
:23:10. > :23:15.to be able to resolve it in some way or other? Stays in front of
:23:15. > :23:19.Felipe Massa for the moment as they come across the line. Vettel still
:23:19. > :23:25.leads from Mark Webber. I think it confirms that Massa was having a
:23:25. > :23:30.better end to the season that he had at the start. This is like two
:23:30. > :23:36.old friends being reunited. Lewis isn't really doing too much to
:23:36. > :23:46.defend against that. What can you do when someone is 15 kilometres
:23:46. > :23:48.
:23:48. > :23:54.has lost front downforce. He is struggling. Gary, of what are you
:23:54. > :24:00.seeing? What happens is this lot gaps, the slot between each of the
:24:00. > :24:05.flat sections on the front wing, anything flying around gets sucked
:24:05. > :24:09.in their. It gets blocked. When that slot gap gets blocked, the
:24:09. > :24:14.airflow at the bottom of the wind just can't stay intact and
:24:14. > :24:19.separates. The wing loses performance quite dramatically.
:24:19. > :24:23.It's a critical situation if you get rubber into that slot. If that
:24:23. > :24:30.is what is afflicting Hamilton, it's having a big effect. Massa was
:24:30. > :24:36.able to blast past him. It means we've got two Ferraris and two
:24:36. > :24:41.rebels in the top four. There was the reaction as Felipe Massa
:24:41. > :24:51.managed to get past Lewis Hamilton. Things are definitely getting
:24:51. > :24:53.
:24:53. > :25:03.better for that half of the Ferrari mechanical balance issue but it is
:25:03. > :25:05.
:25:05. > :25:14.mechanically. Whatever that maybe. We are going to see a pass here
:25:14. > :25:19.from Raikkonen. Raikkonen is trying to go round the outside. He wasn't
:25:20. > :25:25.able to do it. Hamilton will fight where he can. He certainly kept
:25:25. > :25:29.fighting there. He is a race that and he's entitled to do that.
:25:29. > :25:34.Raikkonen probably thought, you are a lot slower than me at this stage,
:25:34. > :25:38.why not? You've got to fight for everything. Even if he's got a
:25:38. > :25:42.problem with his car mechanically. It will be interesting to know from
:25:42. > :25:46.Gary what that might be. Off the top of my head, they would know if
:25:46. > :25:49.there was an issue with the hydraulically operated Path. I had
:25:50. > :25:55.a situation at McLaren weather front Rocca became detached from
:25:55. > :25:59.either side of the chassis. It meant effectively it wasn't, the
:25:59. > :26:04.role balance went out and it was tricky to drive. Eventually the
:26:04. > :26:07.engine blew up! But you can hang in there when York on the points.
:26:07. > :26:14.think you could probably think of a million ways a car could go wrong,
:26:14. > :26:21.Gary. Yes. He heard a clunk from the rear suspension and it
:26:21. > :26:29.miraculously fixed itself. This is a replay of that little fighting
:26:29. > :26:32.off of Kimi Raikkonen. Raikkonen had the DRS and had higher top
:26:33. > :26:37.speed. When it came to the braking zone, the car seemed to be working
:26:37. > :26:43.all right. It was interesting that Raikkonen chose to go to the
:26:43. > :26:50.outside, the most difficult area to overtake. We saw that in Bahrain as
:26:50. > :26:54.well. Raikkonen has been impressive on his return, he is lying third in
:26:54. > :26:59.the championship, but he doesn't take any chances. Would he have the
:26:59. > :27:09.momentum this time? He does. Lewis Hamilton gives up the place quite
:27:09. > :27:13.
:27:13. > :27:17.easily because Raikkonen had the Reid takes the place, or does he?
:27:17. > :27:21.Hamilton runs him wide. That was maybe a little bit naughty. That
:27:21. > :27:26.was definitely off the normal racing line. Aggressive staff from
:27:26. > :27:31.Lewis. He did this with Mark Webber last year, too. He managed to fend
:27:31. > :27:36.him off for second place. At the moment he is looking for fifth.
:27:36. > :27:41.They are both racers. They will both always go for whatever they
:27:41. > :27:44.can get out of a situation. Meantime, Hamilton looking up again
:27:44. > :27:49.and running into that situation where he could end up with a flat
:27:49. > :27:59.spot, which would definitely affect the life of these tyres. They are
:27:59. > :28:05.
:28:05. > :28:09.running two seconds a lap slower then just runs the car wide,
:28:09. > :28:14.forcing Raikkonen to lift out. Raikkonen goes defence of but not
:28:14. > :28:24.really enough to stop Lewis carrying that momentum. Raikkonen
:28:24. > :28:24.
:28:24. > :28:30.has been very cautious in wheel-to- wheel combat. You just wonder if he
:28:30. > :28:40.would just unleash a bit of in a Lewis, would he have held on to
:28:40. > :28:44.
:28:44. > :28:50.that position in Bahrain? Earlier, Jenson Button said on team radio,
:28:50. > :28:54.what an idiot, when you hit him. Tell us about it from your seat?
:28:54. > :29:01.have the foreground straight. We were fighting for positioning. That
:29:01. > :29:11.was pretty difficult not to hit the brake. I was waiting for someone to
:29:11. > :29:12.
:29:12. > :29:19.brake but someone I think brake really hard. I hit everybody.
:29:19. > :29:24.Unfortunately, the straight was a bit too tight. For me, it was very
:29:24. > :29:27.difficult to avoid. I don't want to crash, of course, but we are
:29:27. > :29:37.fighting for the foreground straight to get position. It was a
:29:37. > :29:43.
:29:44. > :29:49.has staid on the harder of the two compounds of tyres. It is a two-
:29:49. > :29:55.stop strategy by McLaren, starting on the soup soft and then going on
:29:55. > :29:59.the soft. -- supersoft. So Lewis Hamilton hopefully now things
:29:59. > :30:04.coming together for him. But Sebastian Vettel has just set the
:30:04. > :30:11.fastest lap of this race. Gary, it is an early stage to make that
:30:11. > :30:16.second stop. Yes it is very early. It is 28 laps to to. I'm not sure
:30:16. > :30:21.the car will last that amount of time. It is high on the front. I
:30:21. > :30:27.didn't see the pit stop. I'm not sure if they found any rubber in
:30:27. > :30:36.the slot gap. But it is a lopping way to go to the end of the race. -
:30:36. > :30:42.- long way to go. Lewis Hamilton stopped on lap 26 for his second
:30:42. > :30:47.stop. No other man has done two stops, apart from Paul di Resta. So
:30:47. > :30:52.they're well out of sequence. RADIO: If we get to the end of this
:30:52. > :30:57.set, you're fighting for sixth. Look after the front. They will
:30:57. > :31:05.have to make another stop. A real fight on Lewis Hamilton's hands.
:31:05. > :31:09.Romain Grosjean into the pits. And they will hope to make it to the
:31:09. > :31:13.end on these yellow marked soft tyres. Michael Schumacher coming
:31:13. > :31:18.down the main straight there. And Michael Schumacher still to make
:31:18. > :31:23.his second stop. This will settle down a bit once everyone has made a
:31:23. > :31:27.second pit stop. This was Paul di Resta versus Pastor Maldonado a
:31:27. > :31:32.moment ago. Paul di Resta had been in for his second stop. Tried to go
:31:32. > :31:37.outside of the Williams, but had good speed off the corner. Again
:31:37. > :31:41.didn't make it work on the way in, but probably had some KERS, we're
:31:41. > :31:51.not getting the graphic. Does Pastor Maldonado have another smif
:31:51. > :31:52.
:31:52. > :31:58.into turn four? No, Paul takes the apex. Sebastian Vettel leads by 8.3
:31:58. > :32:04.seconds from Mark Webber. Mark Webber acting as a useful buffer,
:32:04. > :32:09.but Mark Webber coming in. Timo Glock was in ahead of him. Mark
:32:09. > :32:16.Webber stops in his allocated slot and stays on those yellow-marked
:32:16. > :32:21.soft tyres. Away he goes again. So Red Bull bringing Webber in first,
:32:21. > :32:28.presumably we will see Sebastian Vettel come in within the next lap
:32:28. > :32:33.or so. Glock gets going. So nothing much wrong with Marussia's pit stop.
:32:33. > :32:41.He came in in front of Mark Webber and came out in front of Mark
:32:41. > :32:47.Webber. Mark Webber shouldn't lose too much time behind the ma ru
:32:47. > :32:52.Russia -- the Marussia. And they're top of the pit lane and they can
:32:52. > :32:58.run into their pit box, unlike the others that have to go around the
:32:58. > :33:06.preev yus team. We see chunk of oversteer there from Fernando
:33:06. > :33:11.Alonso. A bit of cection mid corner. I don't -- correction mid corner. I
:33:11. > :33:15.don't think it affected him. There is the comparison and Felipe Massa
:33:15. > :33:19.has been quicker than Fernando Alonso. Felipe Massa has closed the
:33:19. > :33:24.gap. Here is Nico Hulkenberg and Romain Grosjean. Romain Grosjean on
:33:24. > :33:30.the inside of Huck. Squeezes him out wide and gets the place on this
:33:30. > :33:33.occasion. He will be happy, Nico Hulkenberg had come out of the pits.
:33:33. > :33:38.They have both mad their second stop. They were the other way
:33:38. > :33:44.around before the pit stop. That was a crucial move for Romain
:33:44. > :33:48.Grosjean. The lap pace between Sebastian Vettel and Fernando
:33:48. > :33:51.Alonso sees Fernando Alonso being a little faster. But there is a ten-
:33:51. > :33:55.second gap between Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso. So Sebastian
:33:55. > :34:01.Vettel has this one. He is just controlling the pace at this point
:34:01. > :34:06.and we're still waitling for him to make his second stop. But we have a
:34:06. > :34:13.car off coming in the pits. I have just seen a car going on the grass.
:34:13. > :34:18.I can't say who it was. I think it was Heikki Kovalinan. I think he
:34:18. > :34:25.has recovered the situation. But that is a difficult pit in. We have
:34:25. > :34:29.seen that before in the wet for Petrov. Fernando Alonso is back out.
:34:29. > :34:36.Let's see where Mark Webber is. No changes between the Ferrari and the
:34:36. > :34:42.Red Bull running for second place. He is going rejoin with Timo Glock,
:34:42. > :34:48.he is entitled to squeeze him out. But he should be able to get past
:34:48. > :34:54.in the DRS zone. Raikkonen stays out and moves up. Raikkonen will be
:34:54. > :35:00.back in the pits shortly. There is Fernando Alonso sliding past Timo
:35:00. > :35:06.Glock. So things are unchanged up front. We should still look at the
:35:06. > :35:15.Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber. I wonder what this is? A massive lock
:35:15. > :35:24.up on the front right sm going very wide. We have heard. Raid ray box,
:35:24. > :35:28.box, box. We had been told he has been told by his engineer to be
:35:28. > :35:33.careful. This is the incident you saw out of the corner of your eye.
:35:33. > :35:37.He gets wide and flicks the steering to avoid the orange
:35:37. > :35:41.sausage kerb that would have launched the car into the air. But
:35:41. > :35:47.that would have picked up a lot of debris. In comes Sebastian Vettel.
:35:47. > :35:50.That was the area I saw a car go off on the grass to the left. But
:35:50. > :35:56.it gathered it together and came back in. Sebastian Vettel into his
:35:56. > :36:00.pit box and again it is the soft tyre going on. Gary, once again it
:36:00. > :36:04.is Glockwork stuff -- clockwork stuff from Red Bull. Yes that is
:36:04. > :36:09.what you have to do at the top end of the grid, you have to make it
:36:09. > :36:16.happen all the time. McLaren go for that tenth of a second faster and
:36:16. > :36:24.we get a few errors. But it is better to be consistent and slower
:36:24. > :36:30.than one quick one. Away goes Kimi Raikkonen. He makes his second stop.
:36:30. > :36:35.That should be comfortable for him to go to the end of the race.
:36:35. > :36:39.Felipe Massa did come out behind Fernando Alonso. 3.9 stop for Lotus.
:36:39. > :36:45.Not as quick as Ferrari. There is Lewis Hamilton, who made his second
:36:45. > :36:51.stop earlier on. But as we know, he is struggling out there. In term of
:36:51. > :37:01.pace. And interestingly his last lap a 1.44.and Jean-Eric Vergne
:37:01. > :37:02.
:37:03. > :37:09.behind a 1 hadn't 33 -- 1.44.7. Jean-Eric Vergne will have him
:37:09. > :37:15.firmly in his sights. That is an unusual pace from the McLaren. This
:37:15. > :37:24.is Perez and getting in the slip stream of the Pastor Maldonado's
:37:24. > :37:28.Williams. And a huge overspeed to affect the pass and pull on to his
:37:28. > :37:33.brake line. RADIO: Don't worry about Mark, he needs to do a longer
:37:33. > :37:37.stint than you. Mark is on older tyres than you. Just think about
:37:37. > :37:42.yourself. I can't imagine that will be too many worries there. He has
:37:42. > :37:46.had control of the race from the start. The gap 6.8 seconds. In the
:37:46. > :37:53.background, there is the second Red Bull and the Ferrari not that far
:37:53. > :38:03.behind. But it is now 4.5 seconds the gap between Sebastian Vettel
:38:03. > :38:06.
:38:06. > :38:11.and Mark Webber. We did see Fernando lose a lot of time in
:38:11. > :38:16.traffic. I think it was Petrov. We don't see this often, Felipe Massa
:38:16. > :38:22.pounding the back of Fernando Alonso and I don't expect that
:38:22. > :38:25.Ferrari would allow a pass to happen unless Fernando has a big
:38:25. > :38:30.issue here. There is a lot of this Grand Prix to go ooh they have got
:38:30. > :38:36.to make these tyres go to the end if they can get away with a two-
:38:36. > :38:42.stop. Is something going to have to bail and go on a three-stop
:38:42. > :38:49.strategy? It I not doing his chances any harm of staying at
:38:49. > :38:53.Ferrari. Paul di Resta gets back the Mercedes. He has turned in. He
:38:53. > :38:57.is confident the pass was on. is now behind Michael Schumacher.
:38:57. > :39:01.He was able to catch up over that last lap. Don't think he will be
:39:01. > :39:06.able to do anything up here. Ferrari power in the back of the
:39:06. > :39:13.Sauber, but no DRS on that section. Another man under pressure soon is
:39:13. > :39:18.Lewis Hamilton. Jean-Eric Vergne is only 1.7 seconds behind with nine
:39:18. > :39:21.tenths of a second faster. Here is Paul di Resta, gets the DRS open
:39:22. > :39:26.and look at thousand speed builds listen you take the drag off the
:39:26. > :39:30.car. You get the effect of going into the slip stream of the car and
:39:30. > :39:35.that adds more speed and in the end look at the different as they get
:39:35. > :39:39.into the brake zone. Look how much Perez closed up under braking as
:39:39. > :39:45.well. Using some DRS himself as well. Felipe Massa still chasing
:39:45. > :39:48.after Fernando Alonso. But this is what Ferrari need from him. RADIO:
:39:49. > :39:55.A bit too close to Fernando. I think you can back off at least
:39:55. > :39:59.another second and then just stay o' two and half or three seconds
:39:59. > :40:06.behind. Well you can understand those instructions, but the
:40:06. > :40:09.Brazilian has shown what he can do this weekend. Look at Lewis
:40:09. > :40:12.Hamilton under pressure from Romain Grosjean now. He has been
:40:12. > :40:16.struggling with his car today and he is in sixth. But not only is
:40:16. > :40:22.Romain Grosjean chasing him, Nico Hulkenberg in the Force India is
:40:22. > :40:26.right in there as well. And Romain Grosjean has a lot of graining on
:40:26. > :40:31.the first right tyre. He may find himself under pressure from Nico
:40:31. > :40:36.Hulkenberg. Here he goes for the pass. Down the outside, Lewis
:40:36. > :40:40.Hamilton will fend him out. Out wide goes Romain Grosjean. As you
:40:40. > :40:46.said, we saw Sebastian Vettel gain a place doing that and he was
:40:46. > :40:50.penalised. But it has allowed Nico Hulkenberg to draw alongside and
:40:50. > :40:56.Nico Hulkenberg goes outside and Lewis Hamilton squeezes him. Lewis
:40:56. > :41:01.Hamilton has the inside line and he has done it. Wow, great racing from
:41:01. > :41:09.all three. Fantastic stuff from Nico Hulkenberg, a brave, brave boy
:41:09. > :41:17.going outside Lewis Hamilton. Romain Grosjean slowed down. That
:41:17. > :41:21.was good stuff. And Nico Hulkenberg taking it... RADIO: We think we're
:41:21. > :41:26.going to have to stop again. Push now and then we will box. They're
:41:26. > :41:33.looking at a third pit stop. Gary what has gone wrong? Well the
:41:33. > :41:38.interesting thing is that he is losing in the first section of the
:41:38. > :41:44.track. He is not too bad in the second and the third section with
:41:44. > :41:51.the corners. I'm confused. Because it doesn't show up in the section
:41:51. > :41:56.times. David, this is where it started. Romain Grosjean gets in
:41:56. > :42:01.the slip stream and then you hope you have got a compliant fellow
:42:01. > :42:05.racer, Lewis goes to take his line, that forces Romain Grosjean wide
:42:05. > :42:11.and as we know from Hockenheim you can't carry that momentum into a
:42:11. > :42:17.pass. While that was going on, Nico Hulkenberg carries on the proper
:42:17. > :42:27.racing line, uses more of the kerb on the way out and Lewis, with a
:42:27. > :42:27.
:42:27. > :42:31.wounded car, was not able to defend. RADIO: You're doing a good job. But
:42:31. > :42:36.be careful. Still being advised by the team. Lewis Hamilton has come
:42:36. > :42:42.into the pits. And Michael Schumacher under pressure from
:42:42. > :42:45.Perez here. This is a replay so presumably Perez got past. There we
:42:45. > :42:52.go. No maybe, I wondered whether Michael Schumacher came back. Here
:42:52. > :42:57.is Lewis Hamilton out of the pit lane. He is behind Jean-Eric Vergne.
:42:57. > :43:03.So Paul di Resta will be next and it means he is in tenth place there,
:43:03. > :43:09.Lewis Hamilton. Will the car come alive on this final set of tyres?
:43:09. > :43:15.As I said, is that a set of supersofts so, trying a different
:43:15. > :43:22.tactic. It isn't working on the prime tyre. Here is Jean-Eric
:43:22. > :43:26.Vergne. He isn't going to take much longer from Lewis Hamilton. He cuts
:43:26. > :43:29.back on the exit and now they're going right, he is on the outside.
:43:29. > :43:35.Jean-Eric Vergne does enough. Lewis Hamilton having a look... No,
:43:35. > :43:41.doesn't goer to the lunge up the inside. And stays behind Jean-Eric
:43:41. > :43:46.Vergne for now. No doubts his racing instincts. This is all
:43:46. > :43:50.fighting over the last point. Well it is fighting over ninth place I
:43:50. > :43:56.think. Jean-Eric Vergne will struggle to hold that over the
:43:56. > :44:02.closing laps. I would feel I need to have all of my guns in action to
:44:02. > :44:08.keep a charging Lewis Hamilton behinds. This is Charles Pic in the
:44:08. > :44:18.Marussia. What has been going on? It is the carpet. And hit by Pastor
:44:18. > :44:44.
:44:44. > :44:53.car might get called out because of the debris that's out there. The
:44:53. > :45:00.safety car is ready in the pit lane. No sign of that happening just yet.
:45:01. > :45:10.TEAM RADIO: From what we can tell from our data, you are at this same
:45:11. > :45:15.
:45:15. > :45:21.the car. It is a carpet! He's gone wide a bit on the exit of that turn.
:45:21. > :45:31.You hear about debris in the slot baps, that is much more than that!
:45:31. > :45:39.
:45:39. > :45:45.That is not nice for Hamilton. That open to attack. This is not a nice
:45:45. > :45:50.situation for him, Gary? It's not. It is affecting the car quite
:45:50. > :45:54.dramatically. I would expect it to break up pretty soon but that stuff
:45:54. > :45:58.has quite a good structure so it might just hang on there. It seems
:45:59. > :46:03.that its wide enough for around these bars. Let's see a replay of
:46:03. > :46:06.what happens here. He got in the slipstream of the car in front and
:46:06. > :46:13.lost a front downforce and just ran into where we already knew there
:46:13. > :46:17.was debris. He was pushing hard to try and make up the difference.
:46:17. > :46:22.TEAM RADIO: There is Astroturf caught on the right-hand side. Be
:46:22. > :46:32.careful, it might get dragged on to the rear tyre. It is there
:46:32. > :46:37.
:46:37. > :46:43.it hasn't looked great throughout the race and now it looks even
:46:43. > :46:48.worse. Sebastian Vettel still looking after his tyres. He is
:46:48. > :46:51.taking things fairly steady here. The good thing but the first sector,
:46:51. > :46:57.it doesn't really involve too much load on the front tyres, just a
:46:57. > :47:03.straight line. Nice and steady there. He's cruising at home.
:47:03. > :47:13.gentle. TEAM RADIO: Am sorry to be on your
:47:13. > :47:19.
:47:19. > :47:24.case but you will not know until faces on the Red Bull pit wall. But
:47:24. > :47:31.he still out there, it's still looking good for him. He's on to a
:47:31. > :47:41.final lap. Sene on Maldonado. That was certainly off-track but I think
:47:41. > :47:42.
:47:42. > :47:52.you may have dropped back. He goes way too wide. He had to release
:47:52. > :48:05.
:48:05. > :48:10.seriously concerned but Webber has It's just got to hold together for
:48:10. > :48:15.another couple of kilometres for Sebastian Vettel to take victory
:48:15. > :48:19.here in Korea. What a sequence he is into at the moment. He won in
:48:19. > :48:24.Singapore, he won in Japan a week ago. It looks very likely that he
:48:24. > :48:28.will win here. But let's not count on anything just yet. We've heard
:48:28. > :48:38.the concern from the team. Let's see if he can make it to the end.
:48:38. > :48:39.
:48:39. > :48:45.Webber is in second, Alonso in controlled this just the way he
:48:45. > :48:50.needed to. He got the lead into turn one. We saw some impeccable
:48:50. > :48:54.driving from all of these great drivers down into turn 3. Avoided
:48:54. > :49:00.contact while trying to find their natural position. From thereon in,
:49:00. > :49:07.he's just controlled this race. Sebastian Vettel has controlled the
:49:07. > :49:14.race. Vettel takes a victory. It's his fourth win of 2012. He has won
:49:14. > :49:20.in Singapore, Japan and Korea. Mark Webber makes it a one, to finish
:49:20. > :49:23.for Red Bull. Alonso is still there, he is still bringing up the points.
:49:23. > :49:29.He might have lost the championship lead but Ferrari are not giving up
:49:29. > :49:33.for this title hunt. Massa finishes in an excellent fourth place. We
:49:33. > :49:39.are waiting for Raikkonen to come through and finish in fifth place.

:49:44. > :49:49.a worldwide phenomenon in recent months with something like 445
:49:49. > :49:53.million viewings of his Gangnam Style video and YouTube. He is not
:49:53. > :49:57.just a national hero but an international hero. That's Perez
:49:57. > :50:01.right up behind Hamilton as they come to the end of this lap. This
:50:01. > :50:11.is still for race position. Well Perez have enough to get past
:50:11. > :50:14.
:50:14. > :50:17.Sergio Perez will be driving for McLaren next year. Perez was trying
:50:17. > :50:23.to get past Hamilton in Japan, I don't think he's going to be able
:50:23. > :50:30.to get past year as they come out of the final turn. Hamilton will
:50:30. > :50:40.take the final point, complete with Astroturf attached to the car. The
:50:40. > :50:47.
:50:47. > :50:51.two Toro Rossos have finished in Vettel, the smiling assassin, he
:50:51. > :50:55.has struck again, having slashed the points gap in Japan. Look at
:50:55. > :51:00.that, what a good bit of preparation from Adrian Newey -
:51:00. > :51:05.prepared for the champagne spray! Vettel closed the gap in Japan and
:51:05. > :51:15.now he's put himself at the top of the standings once more. Surely
:51:15. > :51:15.
:51:15. > :52:01.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 45 seconds
:52:01. > :52:05.that third title in a row is an Let's hear from the men who were at
:52:05. > :52:09.the centre of the action for today's race. It was a perfect day
:52:10. > :52:15.for myself, perfect day for the team. Very important to have a good
:52:15. > :52:19.start. I had some so Nuria -- I had some scenarios in my head, I had to
:52:19. > :52:23.go through a couple of options. Knowing that it might come
:52:23. > :52:26.completely different. Trying to confuse yourself. I never had the
:52:26. > :52:31.option of having a good start straight away and getting into the
:52:31. > :52:38.lead in the first corner, but I wasn't too sad when that happened.
:52:38. > :52:44.I'm happy. With today's race we had to be happy, we have to finish this
:52:44. > :52:48.raised. There were a lot of questions before the race. The
:52:48. > :52:55.start on the wrong side, the tyres, Hamilton and Raikkonen attacking.
:52:55. > :53:00.Many things that was a doubt before the race. Being on the podium is a
:53:00. > :53:05.good relief. I take these points back home and I think in the last
:53:05. > :53:09.four races we lost the championship lead but there is very little you
:53:09. > :53:14.can do apart from doing your job, and the job today for us was being
:53:14. > :53:17.on the podium and we did it. not sure it was the most exciting
:53:17. > :53:22.thing to watch but it is mixed emotions. If you are asked before
:53:22. > :53:26.you come to the race, of course you always aim to win. I think
:53:26. > :53:31.yesterday went very well for me. I could have easily been second but I
:53:31. > :53:35.wasn't, I did a very good job. Yeah, mixed emotions but it's very good
:53:35. > :53:38.for the team perspective. We got a lot of points today, a bit of an
:53:38. > :53:43.uppercut on McLaren. It's good because we capitalised on their
:53:43. > :53:49.tough day. It can happen to all of us. They will be back, they are a
:53:49. > :53:52.good outfit. We will keep our heads down and keep pushing. We had a
:53:52. > :53:58.rear suspension failure in the first stint. But they said it was
:53:58. > :54:04.safe for me to drive. Would you rather know that information during
:54:04. > :54:07.the race? I did ask but I guess you don't want to... I wasn't expecting
:54:08. > :54:13.them to tell me. But they said, we know what the problem is. I was
:54:13. > :54:17.just fighting the whole way with the car. Sometimes it is real sad
:54:17. > :54:22.that we are pretty much out of the championship today but sometimes
:54:22. > :54:28.these races show your true spirit within. I feel quite comfortable
:54:28. > :54:32.with myself that I pushed and gave it everything. It's very close.
:54:32. > :54:39.There are four races left, a lot of points to grab. We will have to do
:54:40. > :54:44.our very best to remain where we are now. I think you can over-
:54:44. > :54:48.complicated these things but I think if you keep it simple, we
:54:48. > :54:52.have to do our job and not care about the others. A bit of
:54:52. > :54:56.Astroturf that got attached to your car at the end, that was flying
:54:56. > :55:02.loose at the time. Were you surprised that wasn't picked up by
:55:02. > :55:07.a safety car? No. It just added on to where my car was going anyway. I
:55:07. > :55:12.was lucky that I was able to at least hold on. Lewis Hamilton not
:55:12. > :55:16.at all happy. When it falls apart it really falls apart. Especially
:55:16. > :55:20.of the back of Japan, where he had another issue with the car. Jenson,
:55:20. > :55:24.we won't know what he could have achieved, taken out through no
:55:24. > :55:28.fault of his own. But at McLaren, mechanical gremlins have been
:55:28. > :55:31.setting in for the second half of the season. For Red Bull, that is
:55:31. > :55:35.the pattern for the rest of the season and they will win the
:55:35. > :55:39.championship, but in terms of race pace Ferrari will know they can
:55:39. > :55:44.match Red Bull for the final four races. They were very strong in
:55:44. > :55:47.qualifying. Still, four more opportunities, points on the board.
:55:47. > :55:51.Alonso not saying he is disappointed with this result, he's
:55:51. > :55:55.happy with it because it keeps them within shouting distance. Who is
:55:55. > :55:59.the favourite? We spoke for so long that Fernando is the champion elect
:55:59. > :56:04.and it's going to happen for him, but now people are saying it is
:56:04. > :56:07.Sebastian Vettel's title. You don't know. Fernando is clever enough to
:56:07. > :56:13.maximise the opportunities that are there. But he needs to qualify in
