:01:09. > :01:14.By the time it is dark, the cars will be on the track, the Singapore

:01:14. > :01:23.Grand Prix. Highlights, and your weight in a moment. Here is how it

:01:23. > :01:33.was looking, with seven races to go. Fernando Gonzo has not won a race

:01:33. > :01:37.in a while, but he has an be had his lead cut by if you.. Red Bull

:01:37. > :01:44.were dominating bite this time last year, but after today, they could

:01:44. > :01:50.have lost the lead. Here is Ben Edwards with what happened in

:01:50. > :01:56.qualifying. Singapore at night could be called

:01:56. > :02:00.a picture postcard, but Bruno Senna might have wished he was not here.

:02:00. > :02:04.He was out of contention in cutie. Romain Grosjean almost copied him,

:02:04. > :02:09.but he escaped without damage and he shrugged off his ban by beating

:02:10. > :02:13.his team-mate, Kimi Raikkonen, and he earned a start on the Forth Road.

:02:13. > :02:18.Sebastian Vettel set the pace through practice, but when it came

:02:18. > :02:23.to the final showdown, he came up short, and he will start from third

:02:23. > :02:25.place. The surprise performance came from Pastor Maldonado. He

:02:25. > :02:30.skimmed the war to set second- fastest time and the best ever

:02:30. > :02:35.starting position for Williams in Singapore. Lewis Hamilton appeared

:02:35. > :02:41.to be on a different level, up 1 C had adjusted. His best lap was

:02:41. > :02:45.almost half a second faster than his rivals, and he took his fourth

:02:45. > :02:53.-- he took the fourth consecutive pole position for McLaren. Three

:02:53. > :03:03.different age that has represented in the first three places. -- three

:03:03. > :03:03.

:03:03. > :03:44.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 41 seconds

:03:44. > :03:48.in Singapore. Lewis Hamilton makes a good start. There is bunching

:03:48. > :03:52.behind, Michael Schumacher trying to come down the inside. Sebastian

:03:52. > :03:57.battle going into second place. Nico Rosberg and round the outside

:03:57. > :04:03.of Mark Webber. Somebody touched the wall. Mark Webber and Nico

:04:03. > :04:08.Rosberg both missed a corner. A great start from Sebastian Vettel.

:04:08. > :04:13.We will be to see a replay of whether Nico Rosberg and Mark

:04:13. > :04:19.Webber gained an advantage. Jenson Button is up to third place.

:04:19. > :04:26.Pastor Maldonado has dropped to fourth place. Romain Grosjean

:04:26. > :04:30.having to go over the kerb. He is back from a bad for a first-lap

:04:30. > :04:40.incident, and he is trying to stay out of trouble. Nico Rosberg has

:04:40. > :04:51.

:04:51. > :04:57.gone ahead of Michael Schumacher. Hulkenberg. He is chasing the Lotus.

:04:57. > :05:06.Kimi Raikkonen started down there with him. Jenson Button up to third

:05:06. > :05:12.place, Fernando Alonso up to fifth place. Most of the front runners

:05:12. > :05:17.have got through. Vitaly Petrov's Caterham has no front wind, he

:05:17. > :05:27.seems to be the only victim of damage. Where is the front wing?

:05:27. > :05:33.

:05:33. > :05:39.Candy marshals recovery? Will it cause any issues? RADIO: -- did he

:05:39. > :05:44.say he hit Vitaly Petrov? That could be awkward if they tangled.

:05:45. > :05:54.Lewis Hamilton looking after his tyres, but he will not want to see

:05:55. > :06:01.

:06:01. > :06:09.lane. Felipe Massa is right at the back. Something went wrong for him

:06:09. > :06:13.in the other Ferrari. Vitaly Petrov has come into the pits. Lewis

:06:13. > :06:20.Hamilton is in the lead. Felipe Massa his way back, something must

:06:20. > :06:25.have happened. Michael Schumacher chased by Kimi Raikkonen. Felipe

:06:25. > :06:35.Massa is into the pits. The Caterham team repairing the front

:06:35. > :06:37.

:06:37. > :06:42.wing. They have changed the tyres, getting that out of the way. A new

:06:42. > :06:48.set of soft tyres. They have gone from the super soft to the soft,

:06:48. > :06:58.they had a puncture. There might have been some contact. Very likely.

:06:58. > :07:05.He started in 30th place. There are some incidents under investigation.

:07:05. > :07:10.That looked like Nico Rosberg and Mark Webber, coming off line. The

:07:10. > :07:15.FIA will ask, did they gain an advantage? Charlie Whiting will

:07:15. > :07:19.just take the view that, as long as there is not an obvious gain of

:07:19. > :07:25.advantage, that is a normal race start. It is better to have that

:07:25. > :07:29.than cars coming together. safety car at the beginning.

:07:29. > :07:36.Despite the odd little incident, they have got away with it. You

:07:36. > :07:43.need to go up the curbs to get a good lap time. Nico Rosberg is in

:07:43. > :07:50.ninth place. Bruno Senna ahead of Kenneth -- ahead of Canary could be

:07:50. > :07:55.a shave. A great start from Bruno - - from Paul di Resta. Mark Webber

:07:55. > :08:02.and Romain Grosjean could run it out. Mark Webber and Nico Rosberg

:08:02. > :08:11.did not have any option but to run wide. Look at Fernando Alonso on

:08:11. > :08:16.the third row. Mark Webber, Romain Grosjean and Michael Schumacher,

:08:16. > :08:21.and Nico Rosberg could come round the outside. It will be a difficult

:08:21. > :08:30.call for the stewards, a number of cars missed the second corner

:08:30. > :08:36.completely. That was a nice start from Pastor Maldonado. Right under

:08:36. > :08:44.the gearbox. He runs wide, deep into the first corner. Sebastian

:08:45. > :08:52.Vettel can it through. A very cautious Pastor Maldonado. He hooks

:08:52. > :08:57.it up nicely, Bruno Senna. He releases the KERS. Look at the

:08:57. > :09:04.advantage he gets by pricking round the outside. Great avoiding action.

:09:04. > :09:14.There was nothing that Bruno Senna could do. He ends up getting passed

:09:14. > :09:19.

:09:19. > :09:28.by a virgin. -- by Virgin. harder tyre is going to go on. The

:09:28. > :09:34.re-equip suddenly went away from him. The tyres gave up. McLaren

:09:34. > :09:43.seemed to be in better shape, looking after their tyres, Dan Red

:09:43. > :09:51.Bull. What is crucial, where does he drop in amongst the pack? He

:09:51. > :09:57.will be able to run a very fast out loud if he is in clear air. Lewis

:09:57. > :10:03.Hamilton will come out into that group. It is a case of having to

:10:03. > :10:07.get through the traffic. Gary Anderson? That last lap was 1.8

:10:08. > :10:11.seconds slower than his fastest lap, he is trying to move through the

:10:11. > :10:19.traffic, but he is running the risk of losing quite a lot of time.

:10:19. > :10:24.Jenson Button is half a second slower on his fastest lap. Jenson

:10:24. > :10:29.Button is running very well. I expect him to come out on top.

:10:29. > :10:36.Sebastian Vettel fighting his way through the traffic. He takes the

:10:36. > :10:41.place. Well Lewis Hamilton come in? He still has a third of the lap to

:10:41. > :10:47.complete before we see. Sebastian Vettel gets through on the yellow

:10:47. > :10:51.tyres. It is the heart of the compounds. -- be harder of the

:10:51. > :11:01.compounds. Jenson Button could have the opportunity to jump Sebastian

:11:01. > :11:04.Vettel. Jenson Button has closed up two Lewis Hamilton a bit. He was

:11:04. > :11:11.4.5 seconds behind as they went past the finish line last time

:11:11. > :11:17.around. Let's say if Lewis Hamilton will head into the pits. He will

:11:17. > :11:23.stay out for at least another lap or so. Ferrari are getting ready.

:11:23. > :11:28.That means that Fernando Alonso will be coming in. The championship

:11:28. > :11:33.leader, Fernando Alonso, from fifth place. The Ferrari comes into the

:11:33. > :11:36.pits. He wants to try and avoid losing too many points today to the

:11:36. > :11:42.likes of Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel. It is the harder

:11:42. > :11:47.compound that goes on. Mercedes also getting ready. Michael

:11:47. > :11:54.Schumacher also in. The Mercedes have gone a reasonable distance on

:11:54. > :12:00.those tyres. Fernando Alonso will have some clean air. That will help

:12:00. > :12:06.him. Jenson Button gained about a second on Lewis Hamilton. RADIO: We

:12:07. > :12:11.have lost 0.3 on the first sector, and the same on the second sector.

:12:11. > :12:16.He says he has a funny feeling. Let's hope it is that tonight is

:12:16. > :12:23.given to be a good night. He is in a good position. That was a funny

:12:23. > :12:27.spark. Jenson Button is still faster than Lewis Hamilton. The

:12:27. > :12:33.question is... Sebastian battle has got to move through the traffic. --

:12:33. > :12:38.Sebastian Vettel. He is trying to get past the Lotus of Kimi

:12:38. > :12:44.Raikkonen. All of the guys around him, their tyres are governed off,

:12:44. > :12:51.they are struggling with a lack of grip. He is going to struggle to

:12:51. > :12:56.stay in front of Jenson Button. Lewis Hamilton is coming in.

:12:56. > :13:03.McLaren are getting ready. Jenson Button will stay out. Again, Jenson

:13:03. > :13:07.Button making good use of the tyres. He is able to eke out a bit more

:13:07. > :13:13.performance. It is interesting to see the different styles of the

:13:13. > :13:20.McLaren drivers. Lewis Hamilton can often get the maximum out of it.

:13:20. > :13:27.Can McLaren beat their previous best pit-stop, the 2.4 seconds?

:13:27. > :13:34.They got an award for it. It was really good again, very fast. Paul

:13:34. > :13:40.di Resta coming in behind. Also, Nico Rosberg. 2.9 seconds, very

:13:40. > :13:46.good, but not their fastest of all. Where does he come back out?

:13:46. > :13:53.clean air. He is ahead of Sebastian Vettel. He did not lose as much as

:13:53. > :14:00.I expected. The crucial thing will be, where will Jenson Button come

:14:00. > :14:10.out? Sebastian Vettel will get the pass on Kimi Raikkonen. He will

:14:10. > :14:16.

:14:16. > :14:21.DRS reducing and giving him those extra kilometres an hour he needed

:14:22. > :14:25.to get past Kimi Raikkonen. Trying to get deeper into the race. The

:14:25. > :14:32.people that have stopped already, they might be able to do this on

:14:32. > :14:36.two stops but more likely on three of them. Straightforward, Kimi

:14:36. > :14:41.Raikkonen does not even try to put up any fight. That would have put a

:14:41. > :14:48.lot of dirt on his tyres. Maldonado, he should be able to do this on two

:14:48. > :14:53.stops. If he can keep it together. Where is who go into rejoin? Looks

:14:53. > :14:59.like he welcome out just in front, just behind a Hulkenberg and in

:14:59. > :15:09.front of that battle between Perez and the Ferrari. Kimi Raikkonen is

:15:09. > :15:11.

:15:11. > :15:20.in. Just keep an eye on this and we will see some more activity. Lotus,

:15:20. > :15:24.not quite as quick. Not quite as fast as McLaren. We hear that

:15:24. > :15:27.Jenson Button will be coming in at the end of the lap, the fastest lap

:15:28. > :15:33.for Sebastian Vettel. Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel are both putting

:15:33. > :15:40.in quick laps on their new tyres, having made the switch. Gary, what

:15:40. > :15:46.are you thinking? Jenson Button is a little bit slower. As Sebastian

:15:46. > :15:51.Vettel, with his new tyres, is one second faster. I think Jenson

:15:51. > :15:55.Button is looking at the longer game. At the minute he has done

:15:55. > :16:05.five laps longer than Sebastian Vettel on this first set of tyres.

:16:05. > :16:10.That will put 10 in good stead at the end of it. TEAM RADIO: Stay out

:16:10. > :16:16.for a bit. Felipe Massa it down in 23rd place, picking up a puncture

:16:16. > :16:21.on the first lap. Jenson Button is in, from what was the lead.

:16:21. > :16:28.Fernando Alonso, meanwhile, is trying to get past Sergio Perez.

:16:28. > :16:34.Maldonado trying to get past the Force India. That was not as fast.

:16:34. > :16:41.There seemed to be delayed. Not as quick as Hamilton. Will he be in

:16:41. > :16:45.front of Hamilton? 3.8 seconds, he lost over one second on that.

:16:45. > :16:51.Hamilton and Sebastien Vettel have crossed the start-finish so he has

:16:51. > :16:56.come out behind that group so not as much progress as I expected.

:16:56. > :17:06.That puts him back into third place, behind this battle. Hulkenberg has

:17:06. > :17:16.gone in front of Maldonado. Hulkenberg started on the yellow

:17:16. > :17:16.

:17:16. > :17:22.softer tyres. Maldonado going sideways as he tries to get around

:17:22. > :17:27.the outside of Hulkenberg. Did he meet the corner? He managed to keep

:17:27. > :17:32.possession. There was a lot of dust, not that front axle. Buried deep

:17:32. > :17:40.into the corner. I can only imagine through the kink, the car bottomed

:17:40. > :17:45.out, which is why we had that sudden kick sideways. Massive

:17:45. > :17:49.feeling of the for balance. It is as if the steering gets heavier.

:17:49. > :17:55.Like the back is being lifted up and taking away that group and

:17:55. > :18:00.security. But he made that pass stick. Perez, still fending off

:18:00. > :18:07.Alonso. Still on the tyres he started with. There is no chance

:18:07. > :18:11.for Perez to defend any further. Fernando Alonso has got more and he

:18:11. > :18:19.gets past Sauber. Returning the favour from a few weeks ago at

:18:19. > :18:27.Monza. This is what Maldonado did. He just spins the retires at around

:18:27. > :18:31.170 mph. The DRS was open. That is one of the down sides, if you have

:18:31. > :18:36.it in kinks like this, and I am sure that will be part of the

:18:36. > :18:45.discussion with the grand prix drivers. Look at how close that was.

:18:45. > :18:51.Down with Dicko Rosberg and Kobayashi, turn No. 7. This is a

:18:51. > :18:58.replay of Fernando Alonso and Sergio Perez. Releases the Kers.

:18:58. > :19:02.Ferrari against Ferrari. Fernando Alonso has caught Hulkenberg. He

:19:02. > :19:07.has not yet stopped. He is trying to go deep into the race on his

:19:07. > :19:11.first set of a harder compound tyres. He is doing a good job so

:19:11. > :19:15.far. He was very disappointed after qualifying yesterday. He felt the

:19:15. > :19:19.team had not helped him get out at the right time and place. He is

:19:19. > :19:28.responding with solid driving so far and he is giving up a lot of

:19:28. > :19:34.group to the car behind them. he does pit, that will take him

:19:34. > :19:41.about 30 seconds down the grid. Paul di Resta has already pitted,

:19:41. > :19:45.he isn't a place and Hulkenberg will probably come out around 15th.

:19:45. > :19:53.Fernando Alonso stays on the racing line and Hulkenberg does not put up

:19:53. > :19:57.much resistance. Running about one second per lap store. Paul di Resta

:19:57. > :20:07.has made a pit stop. It just shows you the different strategies that

:20:07. > :20:09.

:20:09. > :20:14.will be playing out between those two Force India cars. Hulkenberg

:20:14. > :20:18.and Perez are out of the rhythm of the others by not being in the pits.

:20:18. > :20:22.One. Three-second gap over Sebastian Vettel and a further 3.7

:20:22. > :20:26.seconds back to Jenson Button. Maldonado in 4th place and

:20:26. > :20:34.Hulkenberg in 5th place. Fernando Alonso and six players, then Sergio

:20:34. > :20:39.Perez, then Paul di Resta, Mark Webber. Grosjean in 11th place.

:20:39. > :20:49.Bruno Senna has worked his way up to 14th place. Charles Pic has just

:20:49. > :20:51.made a pit stop. We are on different tyres for both Hamilton

:20:51. > :20:56.and Sebastian Vettel and it looks like McLaren was more comfortable

:20:56. > :21:01.on super-soft but on these prime tyres, it looks like Sebastian

:21:01. > :21:09.Vettel has got more pace. Having the pressure slowly onto Lewis

:21:09. > :21:13.Hamilton. Paul di Resta is ahead of Sergio Perez. He has managed to

:21:13. > :21:23.gain a place. Such a Perez on tyres that have done 18 laps, crossing

:21:23. > :21:24.

:21:25. > :21:28.the line chased by... You can see those retires. Difficult situation

:21:28. > :21:31.out there and another situation brewing is Hulkenberg is running a

:21:32. > :21:36.couple of seconds slower than Paul di Resta behind him bus-top Mark

:21:36. > :21:42.Webber goes up the inside and deter number five and he isn't able to do

:21:42. > :21:46.anything to defend against that. The situation for up Force India is

:21:46. > :21:50.Paul di Resta at has stopped to allow both drivers to run that

:21:50. > :21:53.clean race and maximise their potential. They will have to ask

:21:53. > :22:00.Hulkenberg to not make it difficult for his team-mate to get past. And

:22:00. > :22:07.that, of course, takes away the team battle. Sergio Perez locking

:22:07. > :22:11.up. And then planning this through the chicane astern No. 10. That is

:22:11. > :22:15.where he gave up at his for Paul di Resta, probably on the exit because

:22:15. > :22:25.Paul Bristow went through the chicane. He might have dropped a

:22:25. > :22:31.place? -- Paul di Resta. He gets that much better drive from 13.

:22:31. > :22:36.Sergio Perez really struggling with this tyres. Hamilton is in trouble!

:22:36. > :22:42.Hamilton is out of the lead. He is in neutral, look at that dashboard,

:22:42. > :22:47.he doesn't have any idea. Another failure to finish from Hamilton.

:22:47. > :22:53.There are no gears getting selected. His World Championship hopes are

:22:53. > :22:58.disappearing rapidly with that. Lewis Hamilton shakes his head. He

:22:58. > :23:01.surely cannot believe what is happening. No finish for McLaren,

:23:01. > :23:05.when there seemed to have some control, I would not say he would

:23:05. > :23:09.definitely win this, but he was going to score good points. He was

:23:09. > :23:14.well ahead of Fernando Alonso and this changes everything. Sebastian

:23:15. > :23:20.Vettel now leads the race. Maldonado in third and Fernando

:23:20. > :23:25.Alonso in 4th place. Well, I cannot believe it, really. Is a Jenson

:23:25. > :23:30.Button filling to finish last time. We have seen Lewis Hamilton, he was

:23:30. > :23:35.in that incident just a few races ago and what has been a purple

:23:35. > :23:40.patch in terms of pace has not been converted into points. We have not

:23:40. > :23:46.seen what led up to that but living at the car, everything seems intact.

:23:46. > :23:53.-- looking. That is pure mechanical failure. He has done everything

:23:53. > :23:58.right this weekend. He delivered when it really mattered. This

:23:58. > :24:03.appointment as he walks away. he goes back to the yellow crash

:24:03. > :24:10.helmet next time. You have to feel for Lewis Hamilton. Who knows what

:24:10. > :24:14.would have happened later in the Grand Prix. That is one

:24:14. > :24:24.disconsolate figure walking away. Lewis Hamilton, no points from

:24:24. > :24:33.

:24:33. > :24:38.Singapore. Let us listen... Yes, when he shifted down the gears, the

:24:38. > :24:48.drive was gone. He is pulling the paddles and he has the box in

:24:48. > :24:50.

:24:50. > :24:54.neutral. Frustration, hitting the steering wheel. Well...! TEAM

:24:54. > :25:00.RADIO: Gearbox failure, sorry about that. We did everything we could

:25:00. > :25:05.yesterday. Great driving up until then. They did everything they

:25:05. > :25:10.could, that tells us that that was an known issue. You can see the

:25:10. > :25:16.smoke coming from the back of his car. I have to tell you, when you

:25:16. > :25:24.see a competitor having a problem, you know that is an opportunity.

:25:24. > :25:32.Maldonado and Fernando Alonso are both into the pits. This is for the

:25:32. > :25:35.mechanics, they can serve as a car more quickly and they seemed to be

:25:35. > :25:40.struggling with that stop but he does get released in front of

:25:40. > :25:48.Fernando Alonso. That was a slow or stop for Williams. For 0.2 against

:25:48. > :25:53.3.1. But he has kept it out in front and they have both gone on...

:25:54. > :25:59.No, Maldonado is on super-soft. Surely Maldonado will have to make

:25:59. > :26:04.another stop were as Fernando Alonso will try to do half of the

:26:04. > :26:12.race on the set of tyres? He has a brand new set. He was looking good

:26:12. > :26:18.over that last stand. He went from lap 12 until lap 30. It'll be

:26:18. > :26:23.easier now on the tyres because there is less fuel. Williams

:26:23. > :26:26.perhaps playing that more conservative game. But it is

:26:26. > :26:31.crucial to score points, particularly in that battle with

:26:31. > :26:35.Force India. Paul di Resta going well as well. That is what there

:26:35. > :26:40.may be thinking about? Ferrari are taking that decision, it makes it

:26:40. > :26:43.unlikely that the matter how well hooked up at Ferrari is, on a

:26:43. > :26:48.different tyres, at this early stage, he will be able to hassle

:26:48. > :26:54.Pastor Maldonado. There is that advantage with the tyres. Which

:26:54. > :26:59.today will give Maldonado about a lap time. He has traffic ahead at

:26:59. > :27:04.10 as he runs into that battle with Grosjean and Rosberg. This might

:27:04. > :27:08.actually play further into Alonso's hands. This isn't good for Williams.

:27:08. > :27:12.If they are experiencing issues with the brakes over heating, that

:27:12. > :27:17.is when you get all that carbon dust, so this is the last thing

:27:17. > :27:21.they want, to be running into dirty air from the store cars in front.

:27:21. > :27:26.They will hope that Grosjean and Rosberg will be coming in any time

:27:26. > :27:31.soon and they can then release fresh air. Some fresh air into

:27:31. > :27:35.those brake ducts. * Some cars and a parkway above the track. TEAM

:27:35. > :27:42.RADIO: You might be to cut through some stopping traffic, Hulkenberg

:27:42. > :27:46.and Schumacher. That is it, three stops. It will not be easy but

:27:46. > :27:51.overtaking is difficult year. You have to make the most of the softer

:27:51. > :27:57.tyres. That is what Maldonado has to do, he has to try to get past

:27:57. > :28:01.Grosjean and Rosberg quickly. This is helping Rosberg. What a tall

:28:01. > :28:05.order that will be for Mark Webber, but only has he to pass those men

:28:05. > :28:09.but he has to get another 29 seconds up the road to be able to

:28:09. > :28:13.cover the fact that he has another stop, otherwise he will be hind

:28:13. > :28:17.them. Sebastian Vettel still leading this race in the other Red

:28:17. > :28:23.Bull. Fernando Alonso tucked behind Maldonado. My goodness, almost

:28:23. > :28:29.having a go at getting past. will have a go. As they run onto

:28:29. > :28:35.the back straight, in to turn Number 10. Messy stuff with HRT.

:28:35. > :28:41.Alonso follows through. Has he used his Kers on that first attend? Has

:28:42. > :28:47.he got some left? The run out of turn number 13. The slowest corner

:28:47. > :28:51.on the track, this. When in a Group, particularly with at the back

:28:51. > :28:56.marker, how easy is it to get caught out by the way its nose in

:28:56. > :29:00.front of you? The concertina effect. The car in front makes his braking

:29:00. > :29:05.point and as he starts shedding speed, the car behind reacts and

:29:05. > :29:09.then the car behind 10. You can be caught out by how much earlier you

:29:09. > :29:13.are forced to brake and on top of that, you are getting turbulence

:29:13. > :29:17.from the car in front so the downforce that is available in your

:29:17. > :29:21.car is reduced. When you hit the brakes, it does not slow down as

:29:21. > :29:27.much. It is like taking weight off the car. This is certainly

:29:27. > :29:31.difficult for Fernando Alonso to be running into for cars with the

:29:31. > :29:37.dirty air. Imagine going through clouds following another aircraft.

:29:37. > :29:44.That shakes the aircraft around. Cars don't shake, but they lose the

:29:44. > :29:54.downforce. Difficult situation, here. Through the first few corners,

:29:54. > :29:58.

:29:58. > :30:04.past the hospitality areas. Some Alonso. Pastor Maldonado got a

:30:04. > :30:08.great drive from the fifth corner. Fernando Alonso lost out a lot on

:30:08. > :30:12.the run through there and he missed an opportunity to potentially get

:30:12. > :30:19.in front of Pastor Maldonado. You can see how difficult it is to

:30:19. > :30:24.overtake. Through this tight section, they bunched up. Fernando

:30:24. > :30:30.Alonso getting very close to Pastor Maldonado. Pastor Maldonado picks

:30:30. > :30:35.up the slipstream from the car in front. That hurts when your head

:30:35. > :30:43.bangs off the head restraint. It is just not form, but that is part of

:30:43. > :30:53.Formula One. Drivers do still complain about that chicane.

:30:53. > :30:53.

:30:53. > :31:00.great position, can he have a go down the inside? They run out of

:31:00. > :31:06.the 48 corner. He goes to the inside, this will be closer. I knew

:31:06. > :31:11.they would have to squeeze into the braking zone. He will not be brave

:31:11. > :31:16.enough to go down the inside. This is under the grandstand. Great

:31:16. > :31:22.stuff. It is great stuff, but I have got one hand across my face,

:31:22. > :31:26.because you never know what will happen. Pastor Maldonado sliding

:31:26. > :31:34.around, up to what the final turn. It has got himself a bit of

:31:34. > :31:38.breathing space again. The super soft tyres on Pastor Maldonado's

:31:38. > :31:44.car, they are not giving him the amount of grip we thought he would

:31:44. > :31:50.have. The safety car will come out. Narain Karthikeyan. This is perfect

:31:50. > :31:54.for those guys going for the two stops. That is beneath the

:31:54. > :31:59.grandstand. The teams are trying to respond as quickly as possible to

:31:59. > :32:05.the safety car, which has been called for. Kimi Raikkonen dived

:32:05. > :32:13.into the pits. The safety car is out, we will try to pick up

:32:13. > :32:19.Sebastian Vettel. Gary Anderson, the pit lane will start to get

:32:19. > :32:24.quite busy. Yes, this is worth keeping an eye on. They will come

:32:24. > :32:32.in as quickly as possible. Kimi Raikkonen might have lost their

:32:32. > :32:38.place, but he will picket back-up. Just looking at the accident.

:32:38. > :32:44.RADIO: I hit the wall, the front is broken. He turned into the

:32:44. > :32:47.corner, the rear started to slide. As he corrected it, it takes you on

:32:47. > :32:52.a wider line. That is the unforgiving nature of a street

:32:52. > :32:57.circuit. The Marshalls have stood there patiently all weekend, they

:32:57. > :33:02.felt the need to unleash some fire extinguisher! In comes the race

:33:02. > :33:07.leader. They have to keep to a certain speed as soon as the safety

:33:07. > :33:13.car is called, they cannot sprint in. This will block him when he

:33:13. > :33:19.goes for his release. The Red Bull lollipop man had to wait before

:33:19. > :33:24.releasing the Red Bull. He maintains the position relatively

:33:24. > :33:34.of the McLaren. It cost him quite a bit of time. They waited for the

:33:34. > :33:38.McLaren. A slow pit lane speed for a straight track. There is not

:33:38. > :33:42.quite the same sprint they used to be under the safety car conditions,

:33:42. > :33:48.because as soon as the safety car is called, you have to reduce your

:33:48. > :33:51.speed to a set level. Pastor Maldonado has come in. We heard the

:33:52. > :33:58.radio transmission that indicated there was a problem, and he has

:33:58. > :34:04.come in. The back markers trying to catch up. There is still some

:34:05. > :34:09.catching-up to do. Let's watch and listen. Not many clues, but you

:34:09. > :34:14.have to feel for Pastor Maldonado. He has done everything right this

:34:14. > :34:19.weekend, and he ends up with no points again, for the ninth Grand

:34:19. > :34:23.Prix in a row. Sebastian Vettel and Jenson Button, this was the same

:34:23. > :34:29.last year. Sebastian Vettel won the race, Jenson Button was catching

:34:29. > :34:35.him, but Sebastian Vettel had it under control. I wonder what will

:34:35. > :34:39.happen as we get ready for the restart. RADIO: The need to get the

:34:39. > :34:46.next pit-stop spot-on. Jenson Button thought Sebastian Vettel was

:34:46. > :34:50.going for it, he nearly hit him. A great reaction from Jenson Button.

:34:50. > :34:56.That will not have done any damage to his tyres. It looks like

:34:56. > :35:01.Fernando Alonso has missed out on that. Sebastian Vettel will be

:35:01. > :35:07.clean. Look at the gap back to Fernando Alonso. He has been caught

:35:07. > :35:12.out. Racing resumes. Sebastian Vettel has the edge over Jenson

:35:12. > :35:16.Button. Then, Fernando Alonso. He might have been caught out by

:35:16. > :35:20.Jenson Button. Mark Webber attacking Nico Hulkenberg. Jean-

:35:20. > :35:27.Eric Vergne is ahead of Michael Schumacher. The pit-stops have

:35:27. > :35:36.worked for him. Perhaps there is a chance for him. Mark Webber still

:35:36. > :35:40.be on the attack. Mark Webber is on the option tyre, side by side

:35:40. > :35:46.through the kink. And he has not done it yet. Nico Hulkenberg is

:35:46. > :35:54.defending the position. Here he comes. It will be on the outside,

:35:54. > :36:04.though. Cutting back as they come up to the ninth corner. It took him

:36:04. > :36:10.three corners to do what, but Nico Hulkenberg gave away at the end.

:36:10. > :36:12.Turn and growth coming through, a mistake from Sergio Perez. --

:36:12. > :36:19.Romain Grosjean coming through. Michael Schumacher should have an

:36:19. > :36:25.opportunity to have a run at Jean- Eric Vergne. The slowest corner on

:36:25. > :36:33.the track. Not much space. Sergio Perez has all but tyres. That is

:36:33. > :36:38.partly why he struggled. Michael Schumacher! For the second year in

:36:38. > :36:44.a row, he runs into the back of another car! This time, it is Jean-

:36:44. > :36:49.Eric Vergne! Michael Schumacher again is out of the Singapore Grand

:36:50. > :36:58.Prix. Another long finish to add to his tally this year. -- other non-

:36:58. > :37:01.finish. Let's hope both drivers are OK. It looks like Michael

:37:01. > :37:08.Schumacher was caught out by the rate of deceleration of the cars in

:37:08. > :37:16.front. At that moment, these cars are running it not optimal. Michael

:37:16. > :37:23.Schumacher steps out of his car. It could have been loath and pressure.

:37:23. > :37:30.I expect he will go to Jean-Eric Vergne... Racing is raising,

:37:30. > :37:36.incidents happen, the safety car is out. Let's watch that one. Michael

:37:37. > :37:43.apologises. Disappointment for the young Frenchman, his first time in

:37:43. > :37:47.Singapore. He had a chance of points. He was in with a chance. He

:37:47. > :37:52.probably would not have scored them, though. What a disappointing way to

:37:52. > :37:56.go out of a Grand Prix. The safety car for the second time. It is

:37:56. > :38:02.likely this race will go to the time and it now. We have had two

:38:02. > :38:09.safety car periods. It is likely we will go to the two hour mark. We

:38:09. > :38:13.have got 38 minutes to go at the moment. They will have our man in

:38:13. > :38:19.the pit lane during the maths. Michael Schumacher gets caught out

:38:19. > :38:25.by the fact that Sergio Perez and Jean-Eric Vergne were going side-

:38:25. > :38:29.by-side, they were braking early. As Michael Schumacher locks up the

:38:29. > :38:35.front axle, the road ahead was completely blocked. The only safe

:38:35. > :38:40.thing to do is to hit the car Square in the middle, to avoid any

:38:40. > :38:46.more chinned. The safety car is due in this lap. They start to pick up

:38:46. > :38:52.the pace. Jenson Button in second, Fernando Alonso in third place.

:38:52. > :38:57.Paul di Resta is in fourth place. What an opportunity this is for the

:38:57. > :39:03.young Scotsman. Nico Rosberg has come up to fit place. The race gets

:39:03. > :39:10.under way again. Look at the battle behind. Kimi Raikkonen up the

:39:10. > :39:14.inside of his team-mate. Romain Grosjean shuts the door in time. I

:39:14. > :39:18.was worried there would not be any Lotus cars in the race at will.

:39:18. > :39:25.is always difficult to judge. It looked like a committed Kimi

:39:25. > :39:29.Raikkonen. He somehow managed to slow down enough on the dirty line

:39:29. > :39:34.before getting close. Felipe Massa looking for a way past his fellow

:39:34. > :39:43.Brazilian, Bruno Senna. He has recovered the situation well, given

:39:43. > :39:51.that he had a puncture on the first lap. It is fair enough for Bruno

:39:51. > :39:56.Senna to have brought him. Bruno Senna was wide, Felipe Massa was

:39:56. > :40:02.sideways, that was as close as they would like to be to an incident.

:40:02. > :40:10.Felipe Massa is on the softer tyre. He has a bit more grip. He is

:40:10. > :40:15.making the most of it. They touch! They both get away with it, that is

:40:15. > :40:19.incredible! That was brave from Felipe Massa. I do not think Bruno

:40:19. > :40:24.Senna thought he would try to pass there. That is why there was

:40:24. > :40:28.contact. It does not look like there is any serious damage. If

:40:28. > :40:33.anybody doubts Felipe Massa's commitment, that was real

:40:33. > :40:39.commitment. He needs a bit more speed relative to his team-mate.

:40:39. > :40:45.Felipe Massa and Bruno Senna swapping places. That is so narrow.

:40:45. > :40:51.They somehow got away with it. Kamui Kobayashi just behind Heikki

:40:51. > :40:57.Kovalainen. Heikki Kovalainen lost a place, and behind him, Mark

:40:57. > :41:03.Webber. Some really quick people further down. This is incredibly

:41:03. > :41:11.tight. You would normally not expect anybody to overtake. Look at

:41:11. > :41:16.Felipe Massa, drifting the car. It is more reminiscent of a MotoGP. He

:41:16. > :41:24.cut back in. He releases some KERS, I am sure, and he gets squeezed

:41:24. > :41:29.against the wall. He was committed. Somehow, he stops the car. I do not

:41:29. > :41:36.in Bruno Senna thought he was going to be there. Did he touch the

:41:36. > :41:43.barrier? You would rather touch that than concrete. That was great

:41:43. > :41:48.control. Rob Smedley shakes his head in disbelief. Sebastian Vettel

:41:48. > :41:54.is still leading. Heikki Kovalainen has come into the pits again. That

:41:54. > :41:59.is a bit surprising. Daniel Ricciardo is fending off the furore,

:41:59. > :42:05.but we are into DRS territory. They are using KERS as well. The

:42:05. > :42:12.electrical energy based, that is recharged each lap. Daniel

:42:13. > :42:22.Ricciardo used his the arrest to defend. -- he used his DRS to

:42:22. > :42:25.defend. Felipe Massa has got such confidence. Felipe Massa had a bit

:42:25. > :42:35.of KERS available, which has allowed him to get past the Toro

:42:35. > :42:41.Rosso. Group -- good strategic driving, he is a pin 28 place.

:42:41. > :42:48.matches his best finish in Singapore. Bruno Senna trying to

:42:48. > :42:53.target the Toro Rosso as well. RADIO: They are investigating the

:42:53. > :42:58.incident with Felipe Massa. That sounds like the Engineer at

:42:58. > :43:07.Williams thinks that it might have been marginal from Felipe Massa's

:43:07. > :43:11.side. I do not know what you would want to tell your racing driver. He

:43:12. > :43:15.is the one under question, I would have thought. I would see it more

:43:15. > :43:24.like a racing incident that, we were lucky to see the drivers

:43:24. > :43:28.getting away with it. Jenson Button has just set the fastest lap. Gary

:43:28. > :43:33.Anderson, that is looking impressive. He is currently in

:43:33. > :43:43.second place. Let's just watch Bruno Senna, up to what the top

:43:43. > :43:43.

:43:43. > :43:53.corner. Will he try to get past Daniel Ricciardo? I will come back

:43:53. > :43:59.to Gary Anderson in a moment. He is into the DRS territory. This is how

:43:59. > :44:04.Felipe Massa got past Daniel Ricciardo. He was able to cut back

:44:04. > :44:11.to the inside on the run-down. He had a little bit of KERS left over.

:44:11. > :44:21.A round of applause from the team. RADIO: Batty's eighth place.

:44:21. > :44:32.

:44:32. > :44:42.more laps to go. This is a fight the only one remaining. TEAM RADIO:

:44:42. > :44:43.

:44:43. > :44:49.This is a 60 lap race. Oh, he goes down the inside. Contact! That

:44:49. > :44:55.takes the front wheel off! And there is contact in the end. He won

:44:55. > :45:02.not slowed down very well. Almost touching the back of the Force

:45:02. > :45:12.India. He has damaged the front wing. He will assess the next two

:45:12. > :45:16.

:45:16. > :45:20.corners. Hopefully he can make it to the end of this race. He was

:45:20. > :45:26.shaping up from that. For the last two laps, Hulkenberg had been going

:45:26. > :45:36.defensive and Perez took the dive and contact was made. He is still

:45:36. > :45:41.

:45:41. > :45:49.out there. He has not come in. The last car is Perez. The door was

:45:49. > :45:58.opened and he cuts well to the inside. Did Hulkenberg know he was

:45:58. > :46:02.there? If he did, you just cannot turn when you know the car is there.

:46:03. > :46:07.Mark Webber has got the chance to get past Kobayashi! Has he done it?

:46:07. > :46:10.No, Kobayashi fights. He was on the kerb, all four wheels. Will that be

:46:10. > :46:15.classified...? Hulkenberg follows him through. He has lost his front

:46:15. > :46:25.wing. Perez goes past his team-mate. Hulkenberg is in trouble. He has

:46:25. > :46:25.

:46:25. > :46:31.got a puncture. This huge battle, it has been split up by contact.

:46:31. > :46:34.Kobayashi limping, Hulkenberg limping as well. An opportunity for

:46:35. > :46:39.them to score points, they were just outside. That was a fierce

:46:39. > :46:43.encounter. But, sadly, we will lose at least a couple of them. There

:46:43. > :46:52.could be some bits of debris around for the leaders coming around.

:46:52. > :47:02.we have Kobayashi. He was pretty fair with Mark Webber. He could

:47:02. > :47:04.

:47:04. > :47:08.have ran him wide. The door was left open, allowing Hulkenberg...

:47:08. > :47:14.I'm not quite sure why the contact did happen. It did not look as if

:47:14. > :47:24.Hulkenberg was trying to squeeze Kobayashi down. We can't actually

:47:24. > :47:30.

:47:30. > :47:35.see the wings. When the clock ticks down to zero, then the chequered

:47:35. > :47:40.flag comes out at the end of that laps so whatever lap the clock goes

:47:40. > :47:50.to 01, the flag welcome out at the end of that lap. Mark Webber is

:47:50. > :47:51.

:47:51. > :47:58.running at a time. 1.5 minutes to go. TEAM RADIO: Loss of power. We

:47:58. > :48:06.will look at the information. getting any better for Williams.

:48:06. > :48:15.And that loss of power. Sebastian Vettel is up at the top part. This

:48:15. > :48:18.will probably be the final lap of the race for Sebastian Vettel. It's

:48:18. > :48:21.amazing to think double world champion as he is and that dominant

:48:21. > :48:25.season last year, this will only be his second victory of 2012 if all

:48:25. > :48:29.goes to plan here? Yes, let's not speak too soon but it shows how

:48:29. > :48:33.competitive this season has been. We have Alonso on three and

:48:33. > :48:43.Hamilton. Senna retires the car. He was running in 12th place. That

:48:43. > :48:44.

:48:44. > :48:47.loss of power looks terminal. Yes, this victory will bring Sebastian

:48:47. > :48:57.Vettel up alongside Webber and Button on two victories apiece, so

:48:57. > :49:00.

:49:00. > :49:05.still one away from the Championship leader. He has led the

:49:05. > :49:08.team once again. To yet another victory in Formula One. Just have

:49:08. > :49:14.to do with that traffic and a nervous moment for Sebastian Vettel

:49:14. > :49:20.but all under control. The chequered flag will be prepared at

:49:20. > :49:24.the end of this lap. His gap over Jenson Button is down up to 8.3

:49:24. > :49:29.seconds. And that the loss of Lewis Hamilton from this race, with

:49:29. > :49:36.gearbox problems, really, from that moment, it has all been

:49:36. > :49:41.straightforward for Sebastian Vettel. We have seen how

:49:41. > :49:45.accomplished this man has. Yet again, he comes through the final

:49:45. > :49:50.two corners to take back-to-back victories in Singapore for

:49:50. > :49:55.Sebastian Vettel. His second win of the season. What a time to do it as

:49:55. > :50:03.he tries to close the gap to Alonso. Jenson Button finishes in second

:50:03. > :50:09.position. He looks back at that none finish in Monza. But, Fernando

:50:09. > :50:14.Alonso, once again, picking up that podium finish, his 81st. He is

:50:14. > :50:21.still racking up the points. But here, Sebastian Vettel has taken

:50:21. > :50:26.the 4th Red Bull win of the year. Well done, you have won the

:50:26. > :50:36.Singapore Grand Prix. You're back in this championship. Well done.

:50:36. > :50:41.Yes! Brilliant! Sebastian Vettel, taking victory here. In Singapore.

:50:41. > :50:45.That victory at Bahrain, the last one, seems a while ago so he has

:50:45. > :50:50.done it here. And the confirm that result of the Singapore Grand Prix.

:50:50. > :50:54.Sebastian Vettel on the top step of the podium, 25 points in the bag as

:50:54. > :50:57.he chases Fernando Alonso who finished just behind Jenson Button.

:50:57. > :51:01.And you can see in 10th place, Sergio Perez picking up a point for

:51:01. > :51:05.Sauber. That is why Mark Webber was penalised for his incident with

:51:05. > :51:14.Kobayashi. He drops out of the points and Sergio Perez moves into

:51:14. > :51:18.them. And the constructors championship... -- the Drivers

:51:18. > :51:24.Championship. Who was Hamilton was in second, now he is in 4th place.

:51:24. > :51:28.Felipe Massa might well think of a podium this year as his team that

:51:28. > :51:36.wins the championship. Red Bull is being chased hard by McLaren. Let's

:51:36. > :51:41.hear from the men. He did not put a foot wrong. How are you feeling,?

:51:41. > :51:48.am OK, now. It is gutting and the car stopped because I was cruising.

:51:48. > :51:52.Just managing the gap, if I needed to push work, I had the pace. Today

:51:52. > :51:59.would have been an easy win for stop but that's not the case.

:51:59. > :52:03.Red Bulls did a great job. We could have had a tight battle, Lewis

:52:03. > :52:09.Hamilton and myself. They were quicker than the rest. I felt very

:52:09. > :52:13.good, to be honest, on the harder tyres. It was nice to dictate the

:52:13. > :52:18.pace every time Jenson Button had a go. I had to have an answer. We

:52:18. > :52:28.were able to pull away. And secure the win. Congratulations, second

:52:28. > :52:32.

:52:32. > :52:35.place on the podium and great.. I always want a little bit more.

:52:35. > :52:39.There was one moment in the race when you're incredibly close to the

:52:39. > :52:43.back of Sebastien Vettel's gearbox and the viewers were behind their

:52:43. > :52:48.cushions. Tell us about that. closed my eyes! I didn't know what

:52:48. > :52:54.was going to happen. The safety car went and that control the pace.

:52:54. > :52:58.Fair enough. But when somebody speeds up in the middle of the

:52:58. > :53:05.straight, you don't expect them to hit the brakes hard again. Third

:53:05. > :53:10.place today but still in control of the championship. Yes, it was good,

:53:10. > :53:14.over the weekend we were not very quick. On the circuit and at the

:53:14. > :53:18.end, we finished ahead of three of the four main opponents. Ahead of

:53:18. > :53:22.Kimi Raikkonen, Mark Webber and Lewis Hamilton and the only lost

:53:22. > :53:26.the point. It was a good weekend. Congratulations, how are you

:53:26. > :53:31.feeling? It's great, it's a relief to have a straightforward weekend

:53:31. > :53:35.for once. The last two of them have been difficult. To come here and

:53:35. > :53:37.qualified the way we did, to transform that even better and

:53:38. > :53:43.Carnforth, that shows the performance was there. And we are

:53:43. > :53:46.able to challenge. When racing that there, you are in the Force India,

:53:46. > :53:53.which is giving you everything you need, but how much of the showcase

:53:53. > :53:58.for her talents as this? When you get closer and get results like

:53:58. > :54:04.this, this is the best Alonso far. And enjoy that and then the next

:54:04. > :54:07.Grand Prixs, we will get there. Eddie, penny for the thoughts of

:54:07. > :54:11.Lewis Hamilton. He had the opportunity to really close down on

:54:11. > :54:17.Fernando Alonso but that has gone? He showed great maturity the way he

:54:17. > :54:23.walked away but inside he will be burning. For several reasons. Do I

:54:23. > :54:28.stay with this team? Why do the same problems, one after another?

:54:28. > :54:33.And as my championship over? You have to think, 50 points are about

:54:33. > :54:36.ever, that is to begin somebody like Fernando Alonso. He was the

:54:36. > :54:40.closest and that accolade belongs to Sebastian Vettel and he is

:54:40. > :54:45.giving us a repeat of the 2010 championship win. The mirror image.

:54:46. > :54:50.Almost identical, Ferrari and previously he had Mark Webber at

:54:50. > :54:54.this time it is him. He could quite easily... No doubt with the

:54:54. > :54:59.circuits coming up, they will suit Red Bull. They will fight very hard

:54:59. > :55:03.to match 2010. Fernando Alonso picking up the points. He is doing

:55:03. > :55:08.exactly what he needs to do to pick up a third championship that we

:55:08. > :55:13.know he craves. And he probably deserves it. NEC when he qualifies

:55:13. > :55:18.with the car, in my opinion, and he is able to drag a more out of that

:55:18. > :55:22.car than any other driver. We know his talent. No-one would begrudge

:55:22. > :55:27.him that their championship, if he was to get that. But it's not over

:55:27. > :55:31.yet. This will be a titanic battle and in my view, right down to the

:55:31. > :55:35.last race. He has been consistent and another man showing consistency

:55:35. > :55:40.is Paul di Resta. Really starting to impress in the second half?

:55:40. > :55:44.had problems in previous races, he had problems with Kers and he was

:55:44. > :55:49.trying to get good points for the team but today was the icing on the

:55:49. > :55:53.cake, 4th position. Force India are making a really good moves, moving

:55:53. > :55:56.up on Williams and have passed over other teams. Their fight is to

:55:56. > :56:01.finish in the top six of the constructors. And we will have to

:56:01. > :56:05.watch to see what happens. Still there's a long way to go but they

:56:05. > :56:08.are very competitive. Banks, Eddie. And the way this has panned out has

:56:08. > :56:13.been perfect for the championship as well. Fernando Alonso remaining
