0:01:02 > 0:01:07British Grand Prix. This is round eight on the calendar
0:01:07 > 0:01:11of 19. It is a bit blustery but the sun is shining and it is a glorious
0:01:11 > 0:01:15day per racing, the home race for so many of the teams. So what is it
0:01:15 > 0:01:23like for a driver to win your home grand prix? We can speak to double
0:01:23 > 0:01:27Silverstone winner David Coulthard. It must be amazing. It is amazing.
0:01:27 > 0:01:32I'm so per to have won this Grand Prix. A lot of the British drivers
0:01:32 > 0:01:38stay on-site, that is what I did, so you have family support, crowd
0:01:38 > 0:01:43support and it is like a festival feeling. Can you hear the crowd? You
0:01:44 > 0:01:47can. I can remember passing a Ferrari and hearing the noise of the
0:01:47 > 0:01:53crowd, which kind of put me off for a moment, because you're not
0:01:53 > 0:01:56expecting it, but there is so much energy. Any added pressure? When you
0:01:56 > 0:02:01are in the car, you don't think about it, but when you are in the
0:02:01 > 0:02:04car --out of the car, you have all the people asking you about it and
0:02:04 > 0:02:08wishing you well, and that definitely drained you more at the
0:02:08 > 0:02:12British Grand Prix. But so worthwhile if you win it.
0:02:13 > 0:02:18Absolutely, that is what makes it so special. Let's have a look at the
0:02:18 > 0:02:23special. Let's have a look at the champions, see how they are doing so
0:02:23 > 0:02:27far. There is some chasing to be done. In terms of the British
0:02:27 > 0:02:31riders, Lewis Hamilton is in fourth, Paul di Resta in eighth and Jenson
0:02:31 > 0:02:39Button rending of the top ten. Red Bull are on a charge in the
0:02:39 > 0:02:44constructors' championship. It is then tied down to Mercedes and Force
0:02:44 > 0:02:53India are still ahead of McLaren. We will have all of the race action for
0:02:53 > 0:02:58you in a minute, but first of all, The grandstands were packed and the
0:02:58 > 0:03:02sun almost shining as qualifying got underway at Silverstone. One of the
0:03:02 > 0:03:05first big names to fall was Jenson Button, who couldn't find any place
0:03:05 > 0:03:11in the car. His P 11 and Sergio Perez in 14th means that no McLaren
0:03:11 > 0:03:16qualified in the top ten for the home Grand Prix. Ferrari didn't do
0:03:16 > 0:03:20much better, Felipe Massa went out in QT and whilst Alonso did make it
0:03:20 > 0:03:25a Q3, he was frustrated as his championship rivals went faster.
0:03:25 > 0:03:33Ricciardo made the most of his short window in the Toro Rosso. Red Bull
0:03:33 > 0:03:36are looking for a replacement driver next season for Mark Webber. He
0:03:36 > 0:03:43starts in sixth. Paul di Resta used home advantage and a quick car to
0:03:43 > 0:03:46finish fifth. But the stewards found his car to be 1.5 kilos light and he
0:03:46 > 0:03:50was disqualified and now must start from the back of the grid. The Red
0:03:50 > 0:03:55Bull cars are traditionally quick around Silverstone but Mark Webber
0:03:55 > 0:03:59could only manage fourth, whilst Sebastien Vettel was third. That
0:03:59 > 0:04:03left the Mercedes cars to battle it out and Lewis Hamilton put in a
0:04:03 > 0:04:07stunning lap, getting pole position and a new lap record. The support
0:04:07 > 0:04:11has been incredible, so a big thank you to everyone. It means the world
0:04:11 > 0:04:15to me to come here and get on the front row for them, because they are
0:04:15 > 0:04:21so supportive every year. This is the version I have had the car to do
0:04:21 > 0:04:23it, so I am so proud the team. this is the first year.
0:04:23 > 0:04:28this is the first year. So Mercedes look at the front row.
0:04:28 > 0:04:32Then the Red Bull cars. Because Paul di Resta is disqualified, everybody
0:04:33 > 0:04:37moves forward. Adrian Sutil is now the highest placed fourth in the.
0:04:37 > 0:04:42Then come the Lotus cars and Fernando Alonso is then up to ninth.
0:04:42 > 0:04:47Jenson Button now makes it into the top ten. Maldonado is the highest
0:04:47 > 0:04:54placed Williams car with his team-mate Bottas alongside. Max
0:04:54 > 0:04:56Chilton makes his home race debut. Van der Garde makes a penalty from
0:04:56 > 0:05:06Canada and is 21st and frustrated Canada and is 21st and frustrated
0:05:06 > 0:05:08
0:05:08 > 0:05:12Paul di Resta is where the set to get under way at Silverstone.
0:05:12 > 0:05:16Lights out, away we go and Lewis Hamilton lights up the rear tyres
0:05:16 > 0:05:22but it is Nico Rosberg I was very slow away and it is a good start for
0:05:22 > 0:05:28Sebastien Vettel. And contact their, was it one of the Toro
0:05:28 > 0:05:35Rossos? It was a good start for Lewis Hamilton but it is all
0:05:36 > 0:05:41happening behind him. I think it was contact with Mark Webber. One of the
0:05:41 > 0:05:44Ferrari is managing to work their way through. Kimi Raikkonen has had
0:05:44 > 0:05:48an excellent start but Lewis Hamilton has the start he was hoping
0:05:48 > 0:05:53for. Sebastien Vettel is second, Nico Rosberg is in third place. Mark
0:05:53 > 0:05:58Webber is way down, he has come through in 15th place. It has all
0:05:58 > 0:06:04gone wrong for the Australian. On-board would Fernando Alonso as he
0:06:04 > 0:06:07chases after Romain Grosjean. so difficult at this phase of the
0:06:07 > 0:06:10race, heavy with fuel and the tyres have lost temperature and all the
0:06:10 > 0:06:16time, you are trying to make progress while somebody is attacking
0:06:16 > 0:06:22you from the rear. Felipe Massa has made a remarkable start for he is
0:06:22 > 0:06:26now running in fifth position, but he started down in 11th, so that is
0:06:27 > 0:06:34astonishing. I'm not sure how he has managed it. A little wobble
0:06:34 > 0:06:40therefrom Jenson Button, he has Alonso behind him. He cut the kerb
0:06:40 > 0:06:47at Becketts. Here comes Alonso, then the inside, but Jenson Button is
0:06:47 > 0:06:54staying with him. In the end, he has to give it up. Just ran out of space
0:06:54 > 0:06:58on the Exeter. Jenson Button it has seen Alonso go through. Let's see
0:06:58 > 0:07:04what the positions are. It is Hamilton, Sebastien Vettel and Nico
0:07:04 > 0:07:14Rosberg. Raikkonen with a good first lap. Ricciardo lost out of it and
0:07:14 > 0:07:15
0:07:15 > 0:07:24then it is Romain Grosjean and Jenson Button in the top ten.
0:07:24 > 0:07:30Grosjean out braking himself in the running of the section. Jenson
0:07:30 > 0:07:37Button already having a difficult afternoon. That is Romain Grosjean
0:07:37 > 0:07:41that Alonso is trying to get past. Side-by-side into Luffield, just
0:07:41 > 0:07:49inches separating the cars. TEAM RADIO: We can see front wing
0:07:49 > 0:07:52damage, it looks the same as Canada. And Alonso is through.
0:07:52 > 0:07:58Just watched the left-hand side, Lewis Hamilton got a lot of
0:07:59 > 0:08:06wheelspin, but once he could, he launched away. Mark Webber actually
0:08:06 > 0:08:11gets sideswiped, is it with the Lotus? It hits him and pushes him
0:08:11 > 0:08:17wide? I don't want to take any flak but I am hazarding a guess that it
0:08:17 > 0:08:27is Grosjean. They have had their incidents in the past. Fairly clean
0:08:27 > 0:08:31up there, Grosjean hit di Resta there last year. Mark Webber is then
0:08:31 > 0:08:37in 12th place, bearing down on Jenson Button. Two good mates, of
0:08:37 > 0:08:40course, they have been around in Formula One a long time. Closing up
0:08:40 > 0:08:44a lot on the Hangar Straight, look at the difference in speed and he
0:08:44 > 0:08:50gets past him. That really interests me, because normally the Red Bull
0:08:50 > 0:08:54cars are not quick in a straight line. It was also compounded by the
0:08:54 > 0:08:57fact that there is a slight headwind on the Hangar Straight, coming
0:08:57 > 0:09:01across left-to-right as you look down the straight, that is why
0:09:01 > 0:09:07Jenson Button runs into it. You can see the offsetting the actual
0:09:07 > 0:09:15distance between the cars, Jenson Button with no DRS, Mark Webber with
0:09:15 > 0:09:19DRS wide open. The cars are still heavy with fuel at this stage.
0:09:19 > 0:09:23Attire has gone! It is Lewis Hamilton! Hamilton is out of the
0:09:23 > 0:09:28British Grand Prix, surely, unless he can get back to the pits, but he
0:09:28 > 0:09:32is out of the chances of winning this race. That is real drama for
0:09:32 > 0:09:36Lewis Hamilton, the crowd watching cannot believe it. It has happened
0:09:36 > 0:09:40to him down Wellington Strait, which is as far away from the pits as you
0:09:40 > 0:09:45could want, and unfortunately for Lewis, it is a long way back to the
0:09:45 > 0:09:50pits. We saw a tyre failure on Perez's are in free practice, we
0:09:50 > 0:09:57were told it was a cut in the tire due to some debris or catching a
0:09:57 > 0:10:01kerb, so Pirelli will want to say it is the same thing. Doing a lot of
0:10:01 > 0:10:10damage to the rear bodywork. Ross Brawn as impassive as ever as he
0:10:10 > 0:10:13watches from the pit wall, but their chances of seeing Hamilton in this
0:10:13 > 0:10:18race are over. Nico Rosberg is now in second place. Sebastien Vettel is
0:10:18 > 0:10:23now the race leader with a two second lead over Nico Rosberg. But
0:10:23 > 0:10:27Lewis Hamilton's dreams of winning the British Grand Prix are over for
0:10:27 > 0:10:34another year. He has one victory in 2008 and it is proving hard to
0:10:34 > 0:10:43repeat. It is just coming on to Wellington, up to 50, six beginner,
0:10:43 > 0:10:49and you can see it is an absolute failure -- up to fifth gear, sixth
0:10:49 > 0:10:53gear. The car overheats as it hits the corner. Just watch the steering.
0:10:53 > 0:10:58You can see it looks like a small puncture, because he was already
0:10:58 > 0:11:02correcting into it as he went on to the Wellington, and then it has just
0:11:02 > 0:11:06imploded. Sebastien Vettel had to take some avoiding action as bits of
0:11:06 > 0:11:08rubber were being fired at him. It does mean that all may lead this
0:11:08 > 0:11:12race bike to take some avoiding action as bits of rubber were being
0:11:12 > 0:11:22fired at him. It does mean that all may lead this race by 2.2 seconds --
0:11:22 > 0:11:27
0:11:27 > 0:11:32Sebastien Vettel. Bits of rubber flying around that he is on his way
0:11:32 > 0:11:36once again and will get a feel for the car. Adrian Sutil in the Force
0:11:36 > 0:11:41India is in third place, what a fantastic results this could be, but
0:11:41 > 0:11:45it is very early days and he has the might of Ferrari behind in the shape
0:11:45 > 0:11:50of Felipe Massa. Kimi Raikkonen is running in fifth place and Daniel
0:11:50 > 0:11:56Ricciardo is in sixth position. Felipe Massa getting that little bit
0:11:56 > 0:12:02closer, having a think about it but not going through. It is a very late
0:12:02 > 0:12:07apex at Stowe corner, so unless you are committed, you have to bail out
0:12:07 > 0:12:13of it. So sensible stuff from Felipe Massa. Under pressure now from
0:12:13 > 0:12:19Raikkonen in the Lotus as they come to the start finish line. Grosjean
0:12:19 > 0:12:23has come into the pits. They have gone for a stop on lap ten, that
0:12:23 > 0:12:29would sort of indicate perhaps they will be going for three stops, but
0:12:29 > 0:12:33you never know, they might do to long stints. Gary, we have seen a
0:12:33 > 0:12:41drama with tyres again, what are your thoughts?
0:12:41 > 0:12:47GARY ANDERSON: That I was deflated, the tread was all over... Felipe
0:12:47 > 0:12:53Massa has gone off. What was the cause of that? It is a puncture, but
0:12:53 > 0:13:01why? I would say that is the same thing, the left rear tyre. Something
0:13:01 > 0:13:05out there may be cutting the tyres on the kerbs. Left rear tyre is
0:13:05 > 0:13:10taking a lot of load. It is the same area of track, out of track, at
0:13:10 > 0:13:16Wellington. He actually goes through the entry corner and it gives him
0:13:16 > 0:13:25the chance. The left rear has obviously gone. He wasn't on the
0:13:25 > 0:13:33kerb too much on the inside, I didn't think. Fairly standard line.
0:13:33 > 0:13:39And it goes before he even gets halfway through. I don't know if
0:13:39 > 0:13:43there is any debris out there. cars affected by deflation is of
0:13:43 > 0:13:47some sort, whether it is caused by, as you say, bits of debris from the
0:13:47 > 0:13:52front wing Mark Webber's car or other bits on circuit, but whatever
0:13:52 > 0:13:57it is, it is very dramatic. We have lost Hamilton from the lead, he is
0:13:57 > 0:14:01now in last place. We have to see whether Felipe Massa makes it back.
0:14:01 > 0:14:07Nervous times for Pirelli as we see Fernando Alonso come in. I wonder if
0:14:07 > 0:14:12we will see many teams bailout of the two-stop. Mark Webber is getting
0:14:12 > 0:14:17the nose change, is it affecting the balance of the car too much? Let's
0:14:17 > 0:14:21see if anyone else decides to make it to a three stop. I almost wonder
0:14:21 > 0:14:25if there are concerns about debris that that was part of it, they don't
0:14:25 > 0:14:31want that wing disintegrating any more, so they have put a new one on
0:14:31 > 0:14:37for Mark Webber. He comes back out in 14th position. Hamilton is
0:14:37 > 0:14:47running at the back, Felipe Massa is back out as well. He has rejoined.
0:14:47 > 0:14:47
0:14:47 > 0:14:55He is now running in last place. Mark Webber in 14th position. There
0:14:55 > 0:15:05is Paul di Resta. I am sorry, he has not even made it into the pits yet.
0:15:05 > 0:15:06
0:15:06 > 0:15:12It has been a very slow run round to the pit lane. We can notice the
0:15:12 > 0:15:15debris of his tyres hanging onto the inside rim, so that will flap around
0:15:15 > 0:15:25and damage the floor. It was the odd side of the room and they have
0:15:25 > 0:15:28
0:15:28 > 0:15:37problems seating the tyre. -- the rim. The careful when he hits the
0:15:37 > 0:15:47deck because it could he a man with his hand on the gun stuck in there.
0:15:47 > 0:15:48
0:15:48 > 0:15:52-- there could be. Look at these guys, all fighting. Jean-Eric Vergne
0:15:52 > 0:15:56fighting off Romain Grosjean. Jean-Eric Vergne not only fighting
0:15:56 > 0:16:00for track position but the opportunity to put his name forward
0:16:00 > 0:16:09to replace Mark Webber next year. Daniel Ricciardo will have to
0:16:09 > 0:16:17qualify. TEAM RADIO: Kimi Raikkonen is faster than you! That is a
0:16:17 > 0:16:22comment we have heard very often on the team radio! Jean-Eric Vergne! He
0:16:22 > 0:16:27manages to go straight, that is the third tyre failure we have seen
0:16:27 > 0:16:33today. This is shocking. We did not expect to see this in grand prix
0:16:33 > 0:16:39racing. Thankfully, Jean-Eric Vergne gets into the pits, it happened just
0:16:39 > 0:16:45before the pit lane. This is exactly what you do not want to see. Tyre
0:16:45 > 0:16:50failure. Very unpredictable. And the drivers are doing a fantastic job of
0:16:50 > 0:16:54holding this. We had a message from Red Bull that they thought the
0:16:54 > 0:16:58towers would be damaged on those kerbs but clearly that happened at
0:16:58 > 0:17:02full speed on Hangar Straight. They are using those kerbs through
0:17:02 > 0:17:06Becketts so those brave marshals get out to clear the way that debris and
0:17:06 > 0:17:13if they get much more, we could well see the safety car. Let us
0:17:13 > 0:17:20concentrate on the car in front. The side of the tyre, it just loses its
0:17:20 > 0:17:24structure and at that point, that speed, 190 mph, there is no way it
0:17:24 > 0:17:30can maintain structure. He has a slight puncture already at this
0:17:30 > 0:17:35point and you can see the delamination. The entire surface
0:17:35 > 0:17:39comes off the tyre. Incredibly well held. This is the view from Kimi
0:17:39 > 0:17:47Raikkonen as he was trying to get past Romain Grosjean. Look at that
0:17:47 > 0:17:55shrapnel! That tyre is made up of bits of metal and things like that
0:17:56 > 0:18:05so that is not pleasant at all. We have the safety car. It really has
0:18:06 > 0:18:06
0:18:06 > 0:18:13been pretty frantic Resnick -- pretty frantic? What has been
0:18:13 > 0:18:19remarkable is a has been very little bodywork damage to the cars. TEAM
0:18:19 > 0:18:26RADIO: stay off the kerbs as well as you can, there are punctures all
0:18:26 > 0:18:31around. I was going to comment on Sergio Perez, his failure in
0:18:31 > 0:18:39practice, the team thought that was because of the kerb and he had to
0:18:39 > 0:18:44replace his rear wing. The three guys have been very lucky so far.
0:18:45 > 0:18:49This is the replay of the rear tyre failure from Jean-Eric Vergne.
0:18:50 > 0:18:55into Kimi Raikkonen. I would not be surprised if some of that find its
0:18:55 > 0:19:00way into his radiators and that might affect Lotus this afternoon.
0:19:00 > 0:19:04This is not something they can practice, changing the tyre when it
0:19:04 > 0:19:10has been torn to pieces. Given this afternoon, perhaps teams have to
0:19:10 > 0:19:13look at this in future. TEAM RADIO: Sebastian Vettel has been busy,
0:19:14 > 0:19:19there have been punctures on at least three cars. Mostly the left
0:19:19 > 0:19:26rear tyre. The inside shoulder. We are not sure if there is a problem
0:19:26 > 0:19:34with the tyres or the kerbs. From your site, stay away from the kerbs.
0:19:34 > 0:19:40Try to save the left rear tyre. This was Lewis Hamilton, leading.
0:19:40 > 0:19:46inner sidewall has completely broken away from the surface. And it has
0:19:46 > 0:19:53let go. More speed than with Jean-Eric Vergne but it still was
0:19:53 > 0:19:57around 150 mph. This is the second one. Felipe Massa, he runs onto the
0:19:57 > 0:20:03kerb but it is actually the inner tyre shoulder that lets go and
0:20:03 > 0:20:10thankfully for him, plenty of tarmac and look at that damage being done.
0:20:10 > 0:20:20As that dealt has gone to the inside, really it is in the lap of
0:20:20 > 0:20:20
0:20:20 > 0:20:23the gods. -- belt. Pirelli, unfortunately, are in the news just
0:20:23 > 0:20:28too often for this to be comfortable for them. They have obviously had
0:20:28 > 0:20:33plenty of time to back off as everybody gets a feel for those
0:20:33 > 0:20:41tyres. Really, that is what it is about rather than trying to heat the
0:20:41 > 0:20:48tyres at this point? He can only know from Mark and he has gone
0:20:48 > 0:20:52early. They would have expected him to back this up into Club. That just
0:20:52 > 0:20:58strings there might be a little bit. Clever move, it would not be
0:20:58 > 0:21:02surprising if they had discussed this in the meetings. If we are
0:21:02 > 0:21:07leading and we get the safety car, when do we go? That was certainly a
0:21:07 > 0:21:14great restart. Prayers and Mark Webber side-by-side, Perez defending
0:21:14 > 0:21:18his position. Mark Webber not able to get through. He is back to full
0:21:18 > 0:21:25fitness after having that front wing changed. And he goes deep and wide
0:21:25 > 0:21:30and he has Jenson Button chasing him. He will be in that slipstream
0:21:30 > 0:21:34as Perez struggles to get his car trimmed into this restart and he is
0:21:34 > 0:21:38going to fence of. Mark will go around the outside, we have seen him
0:21:38 > 0:21:43do this before. That is why he took the lead last year on Fernando
0:21:43 > 0:21:50Alonso. TEAM RADIO: watch for high-speed corners with the left
0:21:50 > 0:21:54rear tyre. Meaning that was a good job with the restart. It shows you
0:21:54 > 0:21:57how much information has gone to the driver, halfwit around and all the
0:21:57 > 0:22:03adrenaline of the restart and he is getting those messages from the
0:22:03 > 0:22:09engineer. Second place, Nico Rosberg, Adrian Sutil, this will be
0:22:09 > 0:22:13interesting to watch. Ferrari have been looking good. It'll be
0:22:13 > 0:22:18interesting to watch just who is brave enough to ignore the message.
0:22:18 > 0:22:23You will be going faster if you use those kerbs. Too late to overtake
0:22:23 > 0:22:32into Stowe Corner. Will he cut back slightly and get early on to the
0:22:32 > 0:22:35power? He has only ever scored points on one occasion here. Driving
0:22:35 > 0:22:44well on his return to Formula one so far this year. So far, keeping
0:22:44 > 0:22:53Fernando Alonso behind. No one seems to be avoiding the kerbs completely.
0:22:53 > 0:23:03They are running beyond. Running onto that green concrete. Adrian
0:23:03 > 0:23:04
0:23:04 > 0:23:08Sutil goes into the corner. Fernando Alonso used a bit of the kerb on
0:23:09 > 0:23:16entry, that flat-out kink but he still seems to be pushing to try to
0:23:16 > 0:23:21catch Force India. This allows those cars are beheaded to make a brake.
0:23:21 > 0:23:25Sebastian Vettel and Rosberg separated. On board with Hamilton.
0:23:25 > 0:23:29Working his way through! My goodness, that was close with
0:23:29 > 0:23:36Gutierrez! That is for 13th place and it almost made content --
0:23:36 > 0:23:41contact. That was a very good reaction, he had his moment a
0:23:41 > 0:23:45quarter of a second afterwards. Lewis Hamilton with a cheeky pass.
0:23:45 > 0:23:49It did not come off this lap but he will find his way back into position
0:23:49 > 0:23:57as he goes through Becketts. Expect to see him closing to the left and
0:23:58 > 0:24:06right, can he get early enough on to the power? Straight-line speed on
0:24:06 > 0:24:11the cyber not too bad. We know he loves overtaking at Silverstone.
0:24:11 > 0:24:17Before he got to Formula one, he overtook a huge number of cars and
0:24:17 > 0:24:21it was a brilliant drive, back in 2006 and he knows how to overtake at
0:24:21 > 0:24:25Silverstone but he has to get on with it because he is dying in 14th
0:24:25 > 0:24:35place at the moment. And that is the battle for seventh place, Ricciardo
0:24:35 > 0:24:38
0:24:38 > 0:24:46and Mark Webber. -- down in 14th place. DRS enabled. Just around 50
0:24:46 > 0:24:52kilos of fuel so for the drivers, it just gets more nimble, you can
0:24:52 > 0:24:55regulate and turn sharper and exonerate more quickly. And the
0:24:55 > 0:25:01smile increases on the driver. As these cars get faster through the
0:25:01 > 0:25:06grand prix. Sebastian Vettel leads and we are just about halfway
0:25:06 > 0:25:10through. Lewis Hamilton was leading from pole position but suffered tyre
0:25:10 > 0:25:18failure. We had feelings for Felipe Massa, with his brilliant start, and
0:25:18 > 0:25:22he has dropped back. -- failures. Jean-Eric Vergne is currently
0:25:22 > 0:25:28struggling with a car that is not handling as well as it should be.
0:25:28 > 0:25:34All 22 car that started are currently running. -- car is. Daniel
0:25:34 > 0:25:40Ricciardo, under pressure from Mark Webber, you suddenly putting
0:25:40 > 0:25:43pressure on Romain Grosjean. Looked on the inside. Did he make a mistake
0:25:43 > 0:25:48on that lap because he was much closer when we last saw them but he
0:25:48 > 0:25:52seems to have dropped away again and whether finding it difficult,
0:25:52 > 0:25:57despite Red Bull having the speed advantage, finding it hard to make
0:25:57 > 0:26:03the most of it. Hamilton is behind Paul di Resta. Where has full
0:26:03 > 0:26:13convert gone? He has made a second pit stop. Lewis Hamilton is right
0:26:13 > 0:26:14
0:26:14 > 0:26:20behind Paul di Resta. -- Hulkenberg. He takes that wide line
0:26:20 > 0:26:26into Wellington and that hymns -- that gets him a very good entry,
0:26:26 > 0:26:31strategically. Ricciardo gets past Romain Grosjean, he claims sixth
0:26:31 > 0:26:37place. He managed to stay ahead of Mark Webber and he has gone past
0:26:37 > 0:26:47Lotus. At lies Perez to stay close to the rear of Mark Webber. -- that
0:26:47 > 0:26:49
0:26:49 > 0:26:57lies Perez. -- allies. The radio the front tyres, are they graining? Yes,
0:26:57 > 0:27:02a little bit. That is consistent with the message from earlier. And
0:27:02 > 0:27:07has been some debris the track. Some context somewhere around this lap.
0:27:07 > 0:27:11But is very worrying. Fernando Alonso attacking for third place and
0:27:11 > 0:27:14I wonder if this could mean another safety car because it is almost
0:27:14 > 0:27:20impossible to rush out and get that on the approach to Stowe Corner?
0:27:20 > 0:27:26There is a gap between Sebastian Vettel and Max Chilton, he is on the
0:27:26 > 0:27:30exit of Copse Corner. In the meantime, we must hope that those
0:27:30 > 0:27:40drivers are able to avoid that. Can we find out where that debris came
0:27:40 > 0:27:47from? It was ahead of Maldonado. That looks like a major failure on
0:27:47 > 0:27:52the front wing of Gutierrez. They reckon they can get to the end of
0:27:52 > 0:27:59the race on this next stint, all the way. That should be just about
0:27:59 > 0:28:03achievable. They will try to do that. Kimi Raikkonen going very
0:28:03 > 0:28:09quickly out of there. Very close to that white line on the exit. Pushing
0:28:09 > 0:28:19all the time. That was a good stop from Romain Grosjean, very much
0:28:19 > 0:28:20
0:28:21 > 0:28:30among the fastest. Both McLaren cars going through together, it and ninth
0:28:31 > 0:28:32
0:28:32 > 0:28:37place. -- eight. And there is Hamilton, right behind. That bedtime
0:28:37 > 0:28:45will cost you about 14 seconds. TEAM RADIO: you're doing very good job,
0:28:45 > 0:28:54half a second quicker. I was going to say, it will cost you about 14
0:28:54 > 0:28:57seconds of track time. As we heard from those engineers, Rosberg is the
0:28:57 > 0:29:03fastest man on the track. And closing the gap down to Sebastian
0:29:03 > 0:29:11Vettel, and we shall expect him to react very soon. Fernando Alonso 's
0:29:11 > 0:29:18release, that could be unsafe. Jenson Button is going to make his
0:29:18 > 0:29:21pit stop, currently running in seventh place. Hamilton closes the
0:29:21 > 0:29:31gap but he is into dirty air from Force India, and this is where he
0:29:31 > 0:29:37
0:29:37 > 0:29:45had that go last time but he is not quite close enough. Behind them is
0:29:46 > 0:29:50Kimi Raikkonen on a fresh set of tyres. The Force India was very
0:29:50 > 0:29:53similar in qualifying. Paul di Resta driving very strategically, trying
0:29:53 > 0:30:00to do everything he can to maximise his drive of the corner and break
0:30:00 > 0:30:09the DRS. Raikkonen is in front of Alonso, so the early pit stop
0:30:09 > 0:30:16followed has worked effectively for that point of view. Alonso has got
0:30:16 > 0:30:20DRS... We know that Paul di Resta is going to be coming in at the end of
0:30:20 > 0:30:25the lap, I wonder if Hamilton has been told that. And we'll spin from
0:30:25 > 0:30:31Hamilton, that allows him to get up the wrong side. Into Copse Corner,
0:30:31 > 0:30:34Kimi Raikkonen dives of the inside of Lewis Hamilton. Alonso is going
0:30:34 > 0:30:39to follow through as well and Hamilton cannot do anything about
0:30:39 > 0:30:44it, he is on tyres that aren't that much older and cannot respond.
0:30:44 > 0:30:47put everything into trying to get past Paul di Resta and the tyres
0:30:47 > 0:30:54just overheating on the surface, and it has left him vulnerable to those
0:30:54 > 0:30:57two cars. Alonso trying to get past Kimi Raikkonen, but he can't do it,
0:30:58 > 0:31:05he's forced to the outside. We think Paul di Resta will be coming in,
0:31:05 > 0:31:11yes, he heads to the pit lane. Meanwhile, upfront, Sebastien Vettel
0:31:11 > 0:31:17has responded and is able to maintain that gap to Rosberg. So it
0:31:17 > 0:31:22is nip and tuck. This is where we see whether Adrian Sutil can hang on
0:31:22 > 0:31:27to third place or not. I'm not sure he's going to be able to. Paul di
0:31:27 > 0:31:33Resta comes in as well. Raikkonen and Alonso have already got out
0:31:33 > 0:31:40ahead of Adrian Sutil. So Vettel leads this race, he hasn't yet made
0:31:41 > 0:31:48his final stop. This is going to be the moment, I think Sebastien Vettel
0:31:48 > 0:31:52had enough in hand coming in that he will come out ahead of Raikkonen.
0:31:52 > 0:32:02And that was the usual efficiency from Red Bull. That was a brilliant
0:32:02 > 0:32:04
0:32:04 > 0:32:08stop. Where is Raikkonen? He is only just turning into Vale. Vettel is
0:32:08 > 0:32:13clearly in front as he rejoined the race. Despite Grossberg setting the
0:32:13 > 0:32:17fastest middle sector of anybody in the race, it wasn't enough. Vettel
0:32:17 > 0:32:23had a big enough advantage before that pit stop and now he just has to
0:32:23 > 0:32:30look after it. This was Mark Webber on Alonso. Alonso went defensive but
0:32:30 > 0:32:37still left a bit of the door open. Jenson Button and Felipe Massa in
0:32:37 > 0:32:46the pits. It seems to me that Lewis Hamilton went longer than was
0:32:46 > 0:32:52necessary given the relative pacey had. -- pace he had. That is good
0:32:52 > 0:32:58stuff and Hamilton just gets around di Resta. Hamilton just about
0:32:58 > 0:33:01staying in front of Paul di Resta. This is for 11th place. The two
0:33:01 > 0:33:07Brits have been racing card against one another. Damage on the front
0:33:07 > 0:33:13wing of Paul di Resta's car but he goes past. He has got DRS, a good
0:33:13 > 0:33:23spot. This has been a fantastic battle and Hamilton write down the
0:33:23 > 0:33:29inside! He left the door open. Side-by-side as they go through the
0:33:29 > 0:33:38corner. Di Resta and Hamilton into Copse Corner. This is great stuff
0:33:38 > 0:33:44for the British fans. They are watching their two heroes go at it
0:33:45 > 0:33:48so hard. Di Resta is just in front of Lewis Hamilton. I wonder whether
0:33:48 > 0:33:58Lewis Hamilton, with DRS enabled, should be able to make the move
0:33:58 > 0:34:01
0:34:01 > 0:34:04towards stone. -- stove. Contrasting tyres. We have got Paul di Resta on
0:34:04 > 0:34:14the option, Lewis Hamilton on prime. There should be second difference
0:34:14 > 0:34:17new to new Lewis almost rear ends Paul di Resta as they come out.
0:34:17 > 0:34:22Struggling on the rear axle, this has to be a prime chance for Lewis
0:34:22 > 0:34:26to position his car through turn one, run down to the far corner and
0:34:26 > 0:34:30try and get himself into position on Wellington Street. We know he
0:34:30 > 0:34:37struggled their earlier, Paul has been driving defensively
0:34:37 > 0:34:45fantastically well. Fantastic move from Lewis Hamilton, he just
0:34:45 > 0:34:48adjudged the entrance to the corner, took the deep approach and there is
0:34:48 > 0:34:54no DRS available to Paul di Resta because he was in front when they
0:34:54 > 0:35:02went into that sequence. That was smart stuff. As Paul was going on
0:35:02 > 0:35:09the defensive line, Lewis has just gone through a little boost of KERS.
0:35:09 > 0:35:18Is this another example of an unsafe release? No, that is fair for
0:35:18 > 0:35:21position. Lewis Hamilton is into 10th place, despite the tyre
0:35:21 > 0:35:29failures. Felipe Massa has suffered and the one retirement is Jean-Eric
0:35:29 > 0:35:38Vergne. At the back of the field, we have Charles Peak running in 16th
0:35:38 > 0:35:41place ahead of Esteban Gutierrez -- Charles Pic. We know that Rosberg
0:35:41 > 0:35:51has had a message from his engineers knowing the left rear tyre is under
0:35:51 > 0:36:00control, you can push now. But Vettel has responded. Yes, look at
0:36:00 > 0:36:09the lap comparisons. Rosberg was quick and -- quicker on 3839 but
0:36:09 > 0:36:14Vettel responded. -- 38 and 39. This is telling us a story, Mercedes can
0:36:14 > 0:36:19race at front running pace and we haven't always seen that. There is a
0:36:19 > 0:36:26problem for Vettel! Speak one and Ross Perot takes the lead of the
0:36:26 > 0:36:36British Grand Prix! And the crowd, some of them are cheering -- Roz
0:36:36 > 0:36:42
0:36:42 > 0:36:49Berger takes the lead. The TEAM RADIO: I have lost the gearbox.
0:36:49 > 0:36:54Wow. Sebastien Vettel coasts into retirement. The first non-finish for
0:36:54 > 0:37:03him of the season. Alonso has been in for a third stop. There is a
0:37:03 > 0:37:05message for the safety car, the message to move that car. Sebastien
0:37:05 > 0:37:11Vettel's first non-finish Saint Italy last year and it has brought
0:37:11 > 0:37:14out the safety car. -- since Italy. This will bunch the field and give
0:37:14 > 0:37:18people like Lewis Hamilton the chance to move further up in that
0:37:18 > 0:37:23top ten. TEAM RADIO: We are going to box this
0:37:24 > 0:37:29lap. There is going to be a pit stop for the race leader. I wonder if
0:37:29 > 0:37:35they were always planning that whether they are taking advantage of
0:37:35 > 0:37:39having a 13.6 second advantage over Raikkonen. It is not risking getting
0:37:39 > 0:37:44a puncher in the last stages. Sebastien Vettel, leader of the
0:37:45 > 0:37:48world championship and suddenly, that advantage will be reduced.
0:37:48 > 0:37:52Raikkonen and Alonso are running second and third in this race. It
0:37:52 > 0:37:57doesn't look like they will have an answer for Rosberg but he has got to
0:37:57 > 0:38:02come into the pits. We think he has been asked to come in for a
0:38:02 > 0:38:06precautionary change onto the hard tyre. He has plenty of time, his
0:38:06 > 0:38:12opponents are a little way behind. It doesn't need to be meteoric, it
0:38:12 > 0:38:15is a fairly conventional pit stop. Raikkonen is coming up the finish
0:38:15 > 0:38:22straight but he is well ahead, and Mark Webber going into the pits as
0:38:22 > 0:38:26well. Gary, what drama we are seeing. The world championship lead
0:38:26 > 0:38:32out of the race and this one had nothing to do with tyres. No, it was
0:38:32 > 0:38:41gearbox failure. On the dash you could see it was going between zero
0:38:41 > 0:38:50and one. Watch the gears on the left. All working OK there. And then
0:38:50 > 0:38:53suddenly... Can't find a gear. actually going down through the
0:38:53 > 0:38:59gears. It could be the drive shaft, it could be something else but he
0:38:59 > 0:39:06lost the drive completely. Christian Horner's shake off the foot, head in
0:39:06 > 0:39:10the hands. It had all been going so well. The lowest finish Vettel had
0:39:10 > 0:39:16had this year up to this point was a fourth-place finish. He has been on
0:39:16 > 0:39:23the podium three times, including a win last night Canada. But fortunes
0:39:23 > 0:39:26can change in a hurry. Nico Rosberg is going on. Raikkonen with tyres
0:39:26 > 0:39:32that are nearly as fresh as Nico Rosberg's. Watch out for Mark
0:39:32 > 0:39:37Webber, he is the one who is likely to go on the attack. Not
0:39:37 > 0:39:44particularly close behind Ricciardo. Nico Hulkenberg ended up getting
0:39:44 > 0:39:51past my Paul di Resta, so he has claimed a place as he tries to get
0:39:51 > 0:39:58into the points. Having a snifter on the inside as you go into the far
0:39:58 > 0:40:02corner. He has got to watch out for behind, because Hamilton is there.
0:40:02 > 0:40:07We have got some of the world champions altogether in the field
0:40:07 > 0:40:14fighting at the lower reaches of the top ten. Mark Webber down the
0:40:14 > 0:40:23inside. Alonso looks up and in the background, Hamilton will like to
0:40:23 > 0:40:27see that is hope he gets an opportunity. -- and hope. Here we
0:40:27 > 0:40:37are on the run down, to the start finish line, and he is passed before
0:40:37 > 0:40:40
0:40:41 > 0:40:50of the slipstream. Anyway, he gets away with it, great pass. No DRS
0:40:51 > 0:40:54
0:40:54 > 0:40:58available at this stage. Mark Webber trying to workup to... No contact, a
0:40:58 > 0:41:04tyre has gone! It looked in the distance, sorry, that the Ferrari
0:41:04 > 0:41:09had had to duck out from behind. Will this be another safety car?
0:41:09 > 0:41:16could be. Felipe Massa trying to get past Jenson Button. But doesn't want
0:41:16 > 0:41:21to give it up. Felipe Massa cuts back on the exit. Perez is no
0:41:21 > 0:41:25clearly out of it with what looked like a tyre problem. Whether they
0:41:25 > 0:41:31will have to bring the safety car out or not, we will have to wait and
0:41:31 > 0:41:35see. Another attempt from Felipe Massa on Jenson Button but it is not
0:41:35 > 0:41:41quite there. This is the next opportunity, coming on to
0:41:41 > 0:41:48Wellington. He's going to be through. This is the second time
0:41:48 > 0:41:54this has happened to Perez. Weather is through. Mark Webber is into
0:41:54 > 0:42:01third place. He has got Raikkonen and Roz Berger overhead. Raikkonen
0:42:01 > 0:42:06is definitely under threat. Paul di Resta is trying to move up. It looks
0:42:06 > 0:42:10like the McLaren is being pushed away, no more this afternoon.
0:42:10 > 0:42:20is it for Sergio Perez, a great shame, but there are still some
0:42:20 > 0:42:20
0:42:20 > 0:42:30wonderful riding going on. Di Resta is in front, I think, all but --
0:42:30 > 0:42:38
0:42:38 > 0:42:45Alonso now trying Ricciardo. He's going to try the outside into the
0:42:45 > 0:42:50Vale. Alonso has more grip and he just drives past. And look at
0:42:50 > 0:42:56Hamilton, he's going to take advantage at the same time. And poor
0:42:56 > 0:43:00Daniel Ricciardo loses two places in one go understanding seven. Even
0:43:00 > 0:43:08though he has lost a couple of places, he showed great maturity.
0:43:08 > 0:43:11Not making it easy but giving enough space. This is going to be coming
0:43:11 > 0:43:17out onto the Wellington Street. Webber has won this race on two
0:43:17 > 0:43:24previous occasions. He did this to Alonso last year. He goes to the
0:43:24 > 0:43:28outside, his favourite spot, but Kimi Raikkonen takes too much speed.
0:43:28 > 0:43:36Nico Rosberg is only a second or so up the road leading this race. Can
0:43:36 > 0:43:41Mark Webber get down and hunt down the victory? He only just flicked
0:43:41 > 0:43:45out of that in time. Raikkonen is still fighting, they are
0:43:45 > 0:43:50side-by-side through Copse corner, but Mark Webber has done it. I am
0:43:50 > 0:43:54not sure that Raikkonen is going to come back and boy, that was brave.
0:43:54 > 0:43:58And it was brilliant, because he left enough space for Raikkonen and
0:43:58 > 0:44:04a lesser man would have driven Raikkonen wide but they were able to
0:44:04 > 0:44:14exit that corner side-by-side. Berger is the last one on his list.
0:44:14 > 0:44:19Alonso trying to get past a Sutil, currently in fourth place.
0:44:19 > 0:44:25Alonso... And it is Hamilton almost as well, couldn't quite squeeze the
0:44:25 > 0:44:30Mercedes through. I wonder if he can do it on the exit of Club corner.
0:44:30 > 0:44:34Rosberg leads by 1.3 seconds from Mark Webber, who was nowhere on the
0:44:34 > 0:44:43first lap but is suddenly challenging for victory. And he was
0:44:43 > 0:44:51three tenths faster. Webber was actually quicker on that last lap as
0:44:51 > 0:44:56well, including that pass. Well, it might be a long shot but he has got
0:44:56 > 0:45:04Rosberg going through the front of the screen, there. He has responded
0:45:04 > 0:45:11with the fastest first sector. Rosberg is pushing harder. Fernando
0:45:11 > 0:45:17Alonso making his move. Look at how close that was. I thought that was
0:45:17 > 0:45:22the result of contact. Hamilton had tyre failure and he has fought his
0:45:22 > 0:45:29way back to fifth days and he is not far behind Brando Alonso and Amy
0:45:29 > 0:45:36Raikkonen, could you still get a podium finish? -- Fernando Alonso
0:45:36 > 0:45:46and Kimi Raikkonen. They are coming out through Becketts, as we look at
0:45:46 > 0:45:49
0:45:49 > 0:45:52that map. Keep an eye on Fernando Alonso, because he will get DRS. The
0:45:52 > 0:45:56Ferrari sweeps into third place, Fernando Alonso is heading for
0:45:56 > 0:46:04another podium finish on a day when Sebastian Vettel is not going to
0:46:04 > 0:46:11score any points at all. Kimi Raikkonen had better watch out
0:46:11 > 0:46:17because he might fall further down the pack. You can see Hamilton being
0:46:17 > 0:46:21quicker over the last few laps. Adrian Sutil is just holding on. Up
0:46:21 > 0:46:31front, Mark Webber is quicker than Rosberg on that last lap. 1.3
0:46:31 > 0:46:32
0:46:32 > 0:46:39seconds, the gap. Hamilton has had two stops as well and he does not
0:46:39 > 0:46:48have pressure tyres. But he is looking vulnerable. Yes, Kimi
0:46:48 > 0:46:58Raikkonen made that earlier stop. Hamilton has got fresh tyres, it
0:46:58 > 0:46:58
0:46:58 > 0:47:03does mean that Kimi Raikkonen could be in trouble. Webber is taking
0:47:03 > 0:47:08another two tenths out of Rosberg in the first sector. He is, of course,
0:47:08 > 0:47:14running out of time. Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen, really looking
0:47:14 > 0:47:19to close that points gap to the Championship leader. Hamilton chases
0:47:20 > 0:47:24after Kimi Raikkonen. Can he get a spot? Fourth position, which would
0:47:24 > 0:47:28be remarkable for him. Mark Webber is getting closer to the leader and
0:47:28 > 0:47:37there goes Hamilton! He takes fourth place and coming from an exploded
0:47:38 > 0:47:42fire, this is a tremendous tyre -- drive from Lewis Hamilton. He is now
0:47:42 > 0:47:47in fourth is Asian and we go on to the final lap. There is Mark Webber,
0:47:47 > 0:47:52he is almost within DRS range but it looks like Rosberg is just doing
0:47:52 > 0:47:58enough, here. Great final sector by Lewis Hamilton, the fastest of
0:47:58 > 0:48:04anybody. He still sees the opportunity. You can see Felipe
0:48:04 > 0:48:11Massa passing Adrian Sutil. I am curious to know what is happening
0:48:11 > 0:48:15out front. Webber is behind Rosberg. Mark Webber, the double winner of
0:48:15 > 0:48:21the British Grand Prix and he is faster than Rosberg in that sector.
0:48:21 > 0:48:25He can get into the DRS zone. they go through Becketts. And well
0:48:25 > 0:48:31placed to have a go at getting past Rosberg. What would it mean to him
0:48:31 > 0:48:37to do that? He dropped so far down on the first lap, they had to change
0:48:37 > 0:48:41his front wing. And yet, Mark Webber is now fighting for the lead. A
0:48:41 > 0:48:46remarkable effort indeed from the Australian and his last chance is
0:48:46 > 0:48:49coming up. Meanwhile, Fernando Alonso is holding on to third place
0:48:50 > 0:48:57with Hamilton and Kimi Raikkonen. Romain Grosjean, another retirement
0:48:57 > 0:49:02to add to the list. On board with Hamilton. It does not look as if he
0:49:02 > 0:49:08will be able to find a way through. The chequered flag awaits. And Nico
0:49:08 > 0:49:14Rosberg has just got to hold on for the final turn. And Nico Rosberg has
0:49:14 > 0:49:20done it! Rosberg wins the British Grand Prix! From Mark Webber, who
0:49:20 > 0:49:23has fought his way through to a valiant finish, third goes to
0:49:23 > 0:49:29Fernando Alonso, then Lewis Hamilton. Coming from the back of
0:49:29 > 0:49:32the field after his tyre went. Mark Webber set the fastest lap on that
0:49:32 > 0:49:38last lap and if you mourn apps and perhaps he would have won this? If
0:49:38 > 0:49:43only, and that is the story of his career. But that was a great
0:49:43 > 0:49:45comeback for Mark Webber after that incident at the start. Hamilton did
0:49:45 > 0:49:55not get the win but that is still a very good result, all things
0:49:55 > 0:50:03considered. TEAM RADIO: great job! Excellent job, well done, made! --
0:50:03 > 0:50:08mate. So, the champagne, and he has already enjoyed that. But to do this
0:50:08 > 0:50:14at Silverstone and there is a big event coming up for him and the team
0:50:14 > 0:50:18in one week because they will be racing in Germany, his home event.
0:50:18 > 0:50:23The home for Mercedes. And with the performance were singing from Lewis
0:50:23 > 0:50:31Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, you have to bet that they will be in the
0:50:31 > 0:50:35mix, just as they have been at Silverstone. -- we are seeing. Nico
0:50:35 > 0:50:43Rosberg takes the full 25 today, Mark Webber close second on 18, then
0:50:43 > 0:50:47Fernando Alonso also completing the podium. In terms of the drivers
0:50:47 > 0:50:57championship... It looks very much like this. Sebastian Vettel still
0:50:57 > 0:51:01
0:51:01 > 0:51:06leading the way. Red Bull leading the way in the Constructors'
0:51:06 > 0:51:16Championship. Looking for their fourth victory. Mercedes, jumping
0:51:16 > 0:51:19
0:51:19 > 0:51:22ahead of Ferrari. Let us hear from it was a pity for those British
0:51:22 > 0:51:26rounds with Lewis Hamilton going out from the lead and then Sebastian
0:51:26 > 0:51:29stopping and then the road was clear for me but it was still very nerve
0:51:29 > 0:51:33wracking because those tyres were on the edge and they could brake at any
0:51:33 > 0:51:37moment and I had a tyre problem as well and I was lucky with that
0:51:37 > 0:51:44safety car so I managed to come in and change my tyres and that worked
0:51:44 > 0:51:49out great. Fantastic to win. Especially because the team is so
0:51:49 > 0:51:57close, lots of IT members were here, and it is great to give them the
0:51:57 > 0:52:03win. I think I shall go back and have a red wine and chill out and
0:52:03 > 0:52:08reflect on a challenging weekend. You know, people can underestimate
0:52:08 > 0:52:11putting together the whole weekend and finishing towards the sharp end,
0:52:11 > 0:52:18you should never take that for granted and we have done that today
0:52:18 > 0:52:26so I will be... Yes, I will smile tonight. Mercedes have been pushing
0:52:26 > 0:52:29like hill. They are not hanging around. -- hill. It has been
0:52:30 > 0:52:34fantastic for us in terms of the Championship and it is very
0:52:34 > 0:52:38difficult to get 13 points, better than Sebastian any beginner the
0:52:38 > 0:52:46Championship but even more with a difficult weekend like here at
0:52:46 > 0:52:49Silverstone. Definitely, good points. -- any weekend. We cannot
0:52:49 > 0:52:55forget that we have not been good enough and the next race is in five
0:52:55 > 0:53:01days and we need to raise our game because this is not enough. Tell us
0:53:01 > 0:53:07about the disappointment with the safety concerns? Safety is the
0:53:07 > 0:53:10biggest issue, it is just unacceptable. We had those tyre
0:53:10 > 0:53:16tests to develop and improve the tyres and stop this from happening
0:53:16 > 0:53:20and after that, they did not do anything. To have four of them blow
0:53:20 > 0:53:23up, and that could have been at high speed and I was thinking, it is only
0:53:23 > 0:53:30when somebody gets hurt that somebody will do something about it.
0:53:30 > 0:53:34Obviously, I am disappointed and it is down to those tyres. Up and
0:53:34 > 0:53:39down, it was not the cleanest race and trying to get past Nico Rosberg,
0:53:39 > 0:53:44I lost my front wing. And the safety car came out and we decided to
0:53:44 > 0:53:49change, and was the right thing but we lost three positions and that was
0:53:49 > 0:53:54down to Felipe Massa. Another two laps and we would have had the likes
0:53:54 > 0:53:58of Ricciardo and Adrian Sutil but given this weekend, up and down, we
0:53:58 > 0:54:04continue the points run and were satisfied. And hopefully we can get
0:54:04 > 0:54:08three days with a smile on our face! We went for the prime because we
0:54:08 > 0:54:14didn't think anybody in front was. That was the one that was graining
0:54:14 > 0:54:19for me so big bottoms. We just try to wait for one lap when we could
0:54:19 > 0:54:26put on the other tyres and it was much stronger. Much happier and no
0:54:26 > 0:54:32graining. So, work that one out! Great. Then when the safety car came
0:54:32 > 0:54:39out at the end, we had old tyres and I was a sitting duck. I could not
0:54:39 > 0:54:45get any temperature. It was tough, waiting for people to pass me. I had
0:54:45 > 0:54:52that your box issue, my fifth year was broke and I damaged the rest of
0:54:52 > 0:54:55the gearbox. In was possible to carry on. -- fifth gear. And it was
0:54:55 > 0:55:01a shame because we were in a very good position and it was a nice race
0:55:01 > 0:55:07to win. We shall have to try again. Scintillating and shocking. What is
0:55:07 > 0:55:10going on with these tyre failures? Pirelli have a real issue, and when
0:55:10 > 0:55:15it goes, we can see the drivers have been fortunate but having areas
0:55:15 > 0:55:19where they can control it. The teams in the drivers are very concerned
0:55:19 > 0:55:24and Pirelli are getting negative for the city and they are more than
0:55:24 > 0:55:26capable of designing strong, robust tyres. But they are almost a victim
0:55:26 > 0:55:31of their own success in giving us exciting racing by having multiple
0:55:31 > 0:55:36stops. There will be a lot of head scratching and refuelling into the
0:55:36 > 0:55:40second half of this season. We did see some intelligent drives, Beagle
0:55:40 > 0:55:45Rosberg taking the plaudits of Lewis Hamilton going to the back and
0:55:45 > 0:55:52finishing well? He was controlling the race fantastically and was no
0:55:52 > 0:55:56reason to doubt that. Nico Rosberg was there to pick up a place when
0:55:56 > 0:56:00Sebastian Vettel had his gearbox problems and we had that topsy-turvy
0:56:00 > 0:56:05thing with those safety car is in the end, all the drivers were safe,
0:56:05 > 0:56:10it was exciting and a great result. Mark Webber, on his last British
0:56:10 > 0:56:15Grand Prix? We thought he was destined to be out of the points but
0:56:15 > 0:56:19he had a very storming drive, less than one second behind at the flag
0:56:19 > 0:56:23and that great comeback from Lewis Hamilton, Paul di Resta was very
