:01:03. > :01:13.Welcome to the city of Yeongam where Formula 1 continues its Asian

:01:13. > :01:19.adventure. In Singapore, Sebastian Vettel took another dominant

:01:19. > :01:34.victory. At a place that never fails to deliver unforgettable images.

:01:34. > :01:41.Lights out, away we go, Nico Rosberg going towards Sebastian Vettel. Nico

:01:41. > :01:53.Rosberg has got in front, he takes the lead.

:01:53. > :02:03.As ever, it is absolutely beautifully choreographed, the pit

:02:03. > :02:14.stop. You have to give a place back to Sergio Perez.

:02:15. > :02:38.That is Ricardo in the wall, but the safety car has been deployed, the

:02:38. > :02:43.gap is opening up over Nico Rosberg yet again. Mark Webber gets past

:02:43. > :02:52.Jenson Button, he is up to fourth place.

:02:52. > :02:56.Lewis Hamilton gets past Jenson Button as well. We believe you have

:02:56. > :03:00.Mark Webber in the front wing, you Button as well. We believe you have

:03:00. > :03:10.are losing front downforce at the moment. Paul di Resta is in the

:03:10. > :03:14.barrier! Sebastian Vettel at about 9.9 seconds, so a good effort from

:03:14. > :03:19.Kimi Raikkonen, absolutely superb drive. That puts Fernando Alonso

:03:19. > :03:24.into second. Mark Webber has problems, it always seems to happen

:03:24. > :03:33.to Mark Webber and he is definitely in trouble here. Get out quickly.

:03:33. > :03:37.It is Sebastian Vettel to take his seventh when of 2013, his hat trick

:03:37. > :03:51.in Singapore. -7 win. Sebastian Vettel was the dominant

:03:51. > :03:55.force in Singapore. Hello and welcome to qualifying from Korea,

:03:56. > :03:59.going back a couple of weeks, was the margin he won by exaggerated by

:03:59. > :04:06.the fact Ferrari seem to be off the pace? On a street circuit, that can

:04:06. > :04:10.play its part but was still a very impressive informants and as the

:04:10. > :04:15.season has gone on, the car has improved and his wanted and is off

:04:15. > :04:20.the scale. Everybody will be hoping things are closer here? It will be

:04:20. > :04:24.back to a more regular circuit. It is the fourth time Formula 1 has

:04:24. > :04:29.visited Korea so let's take a look at the current state of play. That

:04:29. > :04:34.seventh victory for Sebastian Vettel will see him edging closer to the

:04:34. > :04:39.victory, he stands 60 points ahead of Fernando Alonso who says the

:04:39. > :04:48.fight for the championship is still well and truly on. Force India are

:04:48. > :04:56.six in the constructors table. At the top, Red Bull theme on stop

:04:56. > :05:02.bubble -- seem unstoppable. So over the years, Korea has been an

:05:02. > :05:05.interesting place in turns of the championship, the lead has been won

:05:05. > :05:10.and lost and sebastian Vettel picked it up last year and Mark lost it in

:05:10. > :05:14.2010, we will not see that this year. There is an interesting

:05:14. > :05:20.forecast for tomorrow that could change proceedings. They are

:05:20. > :05:24.expecting quite heavy rain potentially on Sunday. In 2010, you

:05:24. > :05:29.mentioned Mark Webber dropped out of the battle for the championship,

:05:29. > :05:32.crashing here, that was the only time Fernando Alonso had victory

:05:32. > :05:38.here, Sebastian Vettel has been dominant, he has that everything by

:05:38. > :05:41.a handful of laps in the time we have been racing circuit. That does

:05:41. > :05:46.not bode well for the competition but the weather can play a big

:05:46. > :05:51.part. Is quite a green circuit and it involves very much over the

:05:51. > :05:54.weekend -- this is. We were looking at a typhoon heading in this

:05:54. > :05:59.direction but it has tailed off and gone to China but we will end up

:05:59. > :06:05.with a lot of wind, they are saying. The weather will always play a part.

:06:05. > :06:08.This is a new venue but they have created a street circuit feel at the

:06:08. > :06:13.end of the lap and you get the walls and barriers close so that wind can

:06:13. > :06:18.balance -- can affect the balance. It can help some cars and be

:06:18. > :06:22.detrimental to others. This will not be a walk in the park for Red Bull.

:06:22. > :06:27.From Rory have to try to get Fernando Alonso back on top.

:06:27. > :06:34.Mercedes have been strong and Lotus have been good. A lot of talk about

:06:34. > :06:38.the rules and regulations next year and the weight restrictions. It has

:06:38. > :06:45.been increased 690 kilos, is that enough for the heavier drivers like

:06:46. > :06:49.Nico Hulkenberg? Packaging has always been an issue for the larger

:06:49. > :06:54.drivers. But more important than getting the driver comfortable if

:06:54. > :06:57.the mass of that drive up and ten kilograms is around three tenths of

:06:57. > :07:03.a second of performance. So when they attempt to wrap up new

:07:03. > :07:09.regulations into this new weight, a driver has to be factored into that.

:07:09. > :07:16.I think we should go for a minimum weight of around 75, 76 kilos and

:07:16. > :07:20.all teams should have to include a theoretical weight of a driver

:07:20. > :07:26.around that level. A round-up of the news.

:07:26. > :07:31.Mark Webber has been pretty outspoken after he was given a

:07:31. > :07:37.reprimand for flagging down the world 's most impressive taxi at the

:07:37. > :07:44.end of the Singapore Grand Prix. Lewis passed me and Nico Hulkenberg

:07:44. > :07:48.went to the other side. The camera angle is not beneficial in my

:07:48. > :07:53.favour. We raced each other for two hours at 300 K, it was fine. The

:07:53. > :07:57.race was over and after a race is the safest time of any weekend to do

:07:57. > :08:03.that and I will not put myself or anyone holes in danger. The fans

:08:03. > :08:09.loved it, it it was good for all of us. Fernando Alonso was also

:08:09. > :08:17.cautioned. In but Mark Webber has reached his third reprimand so he

:08:18. > :08:20.receives a ten point Bridge drop for today was like Lewis Hamilton

:08:20. > :08:25.suggested he had not seen such an impressive performance from a car

:08:25. > :08:29.since they had traction control. Sebastian Vettel made fun of the

:08:29. > :08:34.accusations when asked how he would get on this weekend. Since traction

:08:34. > :08:37.control, it will not matter so much. I will probably struggle a little

:08:37. > :08:43.bit more but I think we should still have a strong package.

:08:43. > :08:48.Even world champions have bad days and Kimi Raikkonen said he simply

:08:48. > :08:54.ran out of talent after this uncharacteristic of impact is one.

:08:54. > :08:59.He walked away on in -- unharmed and the car was back on track for second

:08:59. > :09:09.practice. Jules Bianchi will stay at Baruch. -- Marussia. The Frenchman

:09:09. > :09:12.says he is happy where he is now. I think Marussia will be a better team

:09:12. > :09:17.next year so I will improve a lot and show and in -- and show an

:09:17. > :09:19.improvement this year but next year will be a big step. Rubens Barry

:09:19. > :09:26.improvement this year but next year Keller wants to reform -- wants to

:09:26. > :09:30.return to Formula 1. -- Barry Keller. It would be the first time

:09:30. > :09:36.since the 1970s that Brazil did not have a driver on the grid. The FIA

:09:36. > :09:41.has released its calendar for next season featuring 22 races. Austria,

:09:42. > :09:43.Russia and New Jersey are new additions and India does not

:09:43. > :09:48.feature. Three provisional dates on the

:09:48. > :09:58.calendar, New Jersey, Korea and Mexico. That makes 22 races, could

:09:58. > :10:02.that be too many? It is too many. Not for the fans watching, if you

:10:02. > :10:07.are a fan of Formula 1, but for the teams, the mechanics, the

:10:07. > :10:11.personnel. Several weeks at a time away from home. It is a privilege to

:10:11. > :10:16.work in Formula 1 but you do need some home life. It looks as though

:10:16. > :10:22.Korea might go and New Jersey might not happen so we could be down to

:10:22. > :10:27.20. That is a good number. It is a back-to-back races that are a

:10:27. > :10:34.problem. If you have a bad race, have a fewer accidents, for a team

:10:34. > :10:38.to recover is really tough. You have to plan it very well. The big teams

:10:38. > :10:42.can handle it but not the small teams. We are in front of Red Bull

:10:43. > :10:47.because they are hitting back at allegations they have been using

:10:47. > :10:51.illegal traction control. I do not believe they have. They have been

:10:51. > :10:56.exploiting the regulations to the maximum. Red Bull over the last four

:10:56. > :11:00.years have done that with everything but you have to push the regulations

:11:00. > :11:04.to the maximum. If you build a Formula 1 car to what you read in

:11:04. > :11:06.the regulations, you would still be with a Marussia. They pushed the

:11:06. > :11:13.limits. I went to turn one and I with a Marussia. They pushed the

:11:13. > :11:17.cannot see anything illegal, the car has good grip and traction and

:11:17. > :11:23.drivers are driving it well. That is just a quick racing car. David, from

:11:23. > :11:25.the practice sessions, can Mercedes take it to Red Bull today?

:11:25. > :11:30.Unquestionably, they have good take it to Red Bull today?

:11:30. > :11:34.single lap race. This circuit should play to the strengths of Mercedes

:11:34. > :11:39.but it is about delivering on the day. Who will deliver and take pole

:11:39. > :11:43.position? You have to say Sebastian Vettel but there are 19 corners and

:11:43. > :11:48.you can make mistakes, I think the chequered flag will tell. This is

:11:48. > :12:04.the qualifying from the Korean Grand Prix.

:12:04. > :12:10.The Korean Grand Prix might not have been one from pole position in three

:12:10. > :12:14.years but the winner has always started from within the top three.

:12:14. > :12:19.The first segment of qualifying is underway but nobody is desperate to

:12:19. > :12:24.get out. We will see 22 cars vying for 16 positions in the qualifying,

:12:24. > :12:27.and the same compound tyres are in use here as in Singapore with the

:12:27. > :12:33.super-soft and medium but they seem to be exhibiting different patterns,

:12:33. > :12:39.not such a big gap in lap times. They are the same tyres but

:12:39. > :12:42.Singapore itself is all about traction and getting off the corners

:12:42. > :12:47.so you need the rear grip of the super-soft tyres. There are

:12:47. > :12:49.high-speed lateral corners here and the softer tyres do not bring much

:12:49. > :12:59.to those corners. Esteban Gutierrez is first out. What

:12:59. > :13:04.are you expecting to see is the cut-off to get into the top 16? The

:13:04. > :13:10.track does keep changing and you will have to get into 38. The

:13:10. > :13:18.checkpoint seven 38.8. The top cars could probably do that. -38.7. For

:13:18. > :13:23.most people, it will have to be the super-soft tyre. It will be

:13:23. > :13:28.interesting to see how that turns out. Tom, what news have you got

:13:28. > :13:32.from the pit lane? The cloud cover is an issue for the teams. It is

:13:32. > :13:37.five degrees cooler at the start of Q1 and it was at the end of the

:13:37. > :13:41.practice this morning. That is not normally a factor in qualifying

:13:41. > :13:46.except for the teams that really struggle with rear tyres. Looking

:13:46. > :13:50.back at Mercedes in Bahrain, were nowhere during practice because of

:13:50. > :13:53.the sunshine and it clouded over during qualifying and they were

:13:53. > :13:57.lightning quick, so look out for Mercedes and even Ferrari. They have

:13:57. > :14:05.been struggling during practice. Final thoughts, look at Lotus. They

:14:05. > :14:12.are quietly confident, particularly in tomorrow 's Grand Prix.

:14:12. > :14:19.All the cars around you, that is Nico Hulkenberg and Paul di Resta

:14:19. > :14:22.ahead. A bit of information for Jenson

:14:22. > :14:29.Button and Esteban Gutierrez crosses the line. He is on the harder tyres.

:14:29. > :14:35.He used softer tyres this morning. So quite a big difference. That is

:14:35. > :14:40.Jenson Button out on circuit. A bit more hopeful of a more promising

:14:40. > :14:45.performance. He fought yesterday after the practice sessions that she

:14:45. > :14:49.thought yesterday after the practice sessions McLaren could challenge

:14:49. > :14:54.Lotus. He was 10th fastest this morning. He is using the harder

:14:54. > :14:59.compound tyres a game and he has had a tough time here in Korea. He has

:14:59. > :15:05.had one result but he has been taken out on last year 's race. Just down

:15:05. > :15:11.the straight on the first lap of the race which put him out of the

:15:11. > :15:13.equation. He goes across the speed trap and is 313 kilometres per hour.

:15:13. > :15:27.Let's get some news from Tom. Jenson Button's race engineer was

:15:27. > :15:31.giving him some tips about where the traffic was around him. In practice

:15:31. > :15:37.this morning on his super-soft tyres, he did not get a clear lap,

:15:37. > :15:45.he was constantly held up in crowds. So that lap time was not

:15:45. > :15:48.really a valid lap time. Whether McLaren can get through this section

:15:48. > :15:55.of qualifying using the harder tyres is yet to be seen. But how is the

:15:55. > :16:06.hard behaviour looking? -- de car behaviour looking? Di Resta got well

:16:06. > :16:12.out of the way. Nevertheless, it takes away your concentration a

:16:12. > :16:16.little bit into the last section. It will be much nicer if we can see a

:16:16. > :16:21.proper image of where the car is going. I am a bit bored of all these

:16:21. > :16:26.graphics and the heat sensitive camera showing is that the tyres

:16:26. > :16:33.are, indeed, hot, confirming what we already know! Jenson Button is the

:16:33. > :16:36.fastest of anybody who has been out so far, that we have only had about

:16:36. > :16:41.fastest of anybody who has been out five cars. Peres is going out

:16:41. > :16:51.second. Let's see what Kimi Raikkonen has just done. He had to

:16:51. > :16:57.get out of the brake pedal. Everyone looks like they are fuelled for two

:16:57. > :17:07.or three laps, so they will carry a fuel penalty to enable the drivers

:17:07. > :17:13.to get and I into the -- to get an eye on things. They will have to

:17:13. > :17:21.have slightly lower tyre pressures and allow the tyre to evolve as they

:17:21. > :17:28.do two or three consecutive laps. Gary's target time has not quite

:17:28. > :17:31.been beaten, but it is an impressive lap time and temperatures are a lot

:17:31. > :17:44.cooler than in Pratt was this morning. Rose Bowl is top, Hamilton

:17:45. > :17:46.is second. -- Nico Rosberg is top. They will be hoping to use

:17:46. > :17:59.is second. -- Nico Rosberg is top. as a slipstream. He is maybe hoping

:17:59. > :18:02.that he will be able to get past. Hamilton will be getting a radio

:18:02. > :18:07.message telling him that Alonso is going. He will get well out of the

:18:07. > :18:17.way, allowing Alonso a clear run up to four. One of the drivers was

:18:17. > :18:24.asking to be kept warns of cars behind them as well as what is in

:18:24. > :18:31.front. This is the fastest that we have seen so far in this session. He

:18:31. > :18:36.is using the harder tyre. Only one or two cars are going out on the

:18:36. > :18:40.super softs, they are the ones at the lower end of the grid. The top

:18:41. > :18:50.teams are during it out on the compound tyre. Qualifying is so much

:18:50. > :18:55.faster than when we see them running around in free practice and in the

:18:55. > :19:00.race tomorrow, all fat with fuel. This is the moment that the drivers

:19:00. > :19:09.really live for. It is looking like a smooth flowing lap at the moment.

:19:09. > :19:14.This is a good-looking lap for Alonso. This was the Corner

:19:14. > :19:21.yesterday that Kimi Raikkonen crashed at in the practice session.

:19:21. > :19:28.Alonso goes second, squeezing in between Nico Rosberg and Hamilton in

:19:28. > :19:32.terms of lap time. Yet to see the Red Bulls out, but the four Rory and

:19:32. > :19:45.the Mercedes will be happy with that. Nico Hulkenberg in the sober

:19:45. > :19:47.here. -- in the Sauber. With these very picky tyres, they might

:19:47. > :19:56.here. -- in the Sauber. With these overheat slightly, the rear tyres.

:19:56. > :20:02.He was just about flat in qualifying, but the cars are moving

:20:02. > :20:11.around a lot. That was eight goods lap time. Sergio Perez is going six.

:20:11. > :20:21.He is going a bit quicker than Jenson Button. Now we watching Lewis

:20:21. > :20:27.Hamilton. He is on the harder tyre. This is a

:20:27. > :20:30.lap for him to be safely through to the second part of qualifying

:20:30. > :20:37.without having to use the super-soft tyres, I think. Across the start

:20:37. > :20:43.finish line, Lewis Hamilton goes fastest. That is certainly with in

:20:43. > :20:52.the target figure that Gary Anderson told us about, so Hamilton is in

:20:52. > :21:01.good shape. Hamilton is fourth. -- Raikkonen is fourth. Esteban

:21:01. > :21:05.Gutierrez is on the soft tyres. He is a potential top ten runner, he

:21:05. > :21:13.was in the top ten last time. Alonso has improved his own time in the

:21:13. > :21:18.first sector. They are going for these slightly longer runs in the

:21:18. > :21:22.first part of qualifying. Once we get later in the qualifying session

:21:22. > :21:32.and there is the option time, they will get into more classic collapse.

:21:33. > :21:37.-- classic laps. It does not appear that the grid is giving up on them.

:21:38. > :21:39.Gutierrez was quickest of all in the that the grid is giving up on them.

:21:39. > :21:51.first sector. Will this be enough for Gutierrez to

:21:51. > :21:56.go through to the next stage of qualifying? His super-soft tyres

:21:56. > :22:00.have put him second. That is very much around the mark that we think

:22:00. > :22:03.will be needed. It will hopefully be safely enough for him to make it

:22:03. > :22:11.through to the next part of qualifying. There has been a change

:22:11. > :22:15.of approach in Gutierrez this weekend, the boost in confidence by

:22:15. > :22:20.getting into the top ten last time has given him an edge. This is the

:22:20. > :22:25.man we are expecting to set the pace, looking at his performances so

:22:25. > :22:31.far this weekend and over the last few Grands Prix. He will not get it

:22:31. > :22:36.in this session, this is all about getting through to segment two of

:22:36. > :22:40.qualifying. Look at how controlled that car is. It turns in so

:22:40. > :22:45.beautifully and gets the power on early. Nice and tidy at the end of

:22:45. > :22:54.beautifully and gets the power on the lap. He might well get another

:22:54. > :23:02.lap. Hamilton's best lap was not his first.

:23:02. > :23:06.Here is Mark Webber, pole winning here last year. He beat his

:23:06. > :23:09.team-mate Sebastian Vettel in a straight fight. But this time he

:23:09. > :23:13.will have to add ten places to revenue qualifies. He is in third

:23:13. > :23:30.for the moment. OK, Mark, we are staying out. Think

:23:30. > :23:34.about tyre prep for the next lap. Mark doing a slow lap just to bring

:23:34. > :23:41.the tyres back. What sort of prep will he be doing? Backing off,

:23:41. > :23:45.trying to preserve some of the softness of the tyre. He will be

:23:45. > :23:48.getting information from the pits about how the pressure is looking

:23:48. > :23:56.and how to maintain the right level of inflation. If you lose tyre

:23:56. > :24:01.pressure and temperature, the car then runs a bit more and you start

:24:01. > :24:08.dragging your arts, basically. It creates friction. They rely on the

:24:08. > :24:13.information from the pit 's and their own fuel, frankly, just

:24:13. > :24:21.trusting your instincts. -- the information from the pits.

:24:21. > :24:29.Gary came up with a good number, McLaren just said the same number,

:24:29. > :24:32.1:38.8. At the moment, Lewis Hamilton and Esteban Gutierrez are

:24:32. > :24:39.the only one sounds a lot. Everyone else has so far done over 1:38.8.

:24:39. > :24:53.Gutierrez, I wonder if he will feel safe enough on 1:38.7? Grosjean will

:24:53. > :25:00.jump up, where is he going? Fourth. Interestingly, that information for

:25:00. > :25:21.Jenson, McLaren are staying on the prime tyre. Button goes up. Peres

:25:21. > :25:26.Houston 1:39.0. He goes fastest on the super-soft tyre. Hulkenberg has

:25:26. > :25:33.used that very effectively, 1:38.4, that is quite a bit quicker than

:25:33. > :25:38.this morning. It looked to me as if my eyes might be playing tricks,

:25:38. > :25:43.like Perez had the super-soft tyre on. It is not showing in our

:25:43. > :25:50.information. Let's see if we get another view so we can clarify what

:25:50. > :25:55.tyre McLaren are on. It would seem rave of them to have stayed out

:25:55. > :26:03.there on the prime tyre. -- it would seem brave of them.

:26:03. > :26:14.You can see what a good lap that was from Hulkenberg, it is not far off

:26:14. > :26:25.what Nico Rosberg has achieved. The information available to us in the

:26:25. > :26:30.commentary box is that Raikkonen is definitely on the option. He has

:26:30. > :26:34.gone fastest of all, he is definitely on to the second part of

:26:34. > :26:36.qualifying. No back trouble is that we know of from his accident in

:26:36. > :26:41.qualifying. No back trouble is that practice yesterday. Paul di Resta is

:26:41. > :26:47.sliding the back-end of the Force India around a bit. There is traffic

:26:47. > :26:51.ahead of him, which does not help. Paul was quicker in the first and

:26:51. > :26:57.second sectors, this will cost in time at the end of the lap. The end

:26:57. > :27:09.she could well find himself with a penalty for that. -- Bianchi could

:27:09. > :27:14.find himself with a penalty. It arrested and make it through last

:27:14. > :27:19.time out to the final part... The second part, even, of qualifying.

:27:19. > :27:24.I don't think Paul will get the chance to do another time to lap. As

:27:24. > :27:29.he sits there at 14th, we have to hope that is enough and that Alonso,

:27:29. > :27:36.as you would expect, he will go forward. There are a few people on

:27:36. > :27:42.laps at the moment. Romain Grosjean has stayed out there. He has not

:27:42. > :27:47.gone for the super-soft tyre. He is 15th at the moment, Alonso is

:27:47. > :28:02.fourth. Di Resta is 16th, right on the bubble. Maldonado is currently

:28:02. > :28:09.not making it through. That radio message would have been a

:28:09. > :28:14.few moments ago, Grosjean is dealing with a bit of oversteer. Di Resta is

:28:14. > :28:20.definitely endangered territory where he is. Grosjean is looking to

:28:20. > :28:29.move up, he does. Webber is a long way down. We are still waiting for

:28:29. > :28:40.but arson Maldonado. -- we are still waiting for Bottas and Maldonado.

:28:40. > :28:44.There has been a new front wing on the car, which seem to be working

:28:44. > :28:52.well. Di Resta gets away with it this time. Di Resta makes it through

:28:52. > :28:56.into the second part of qualifying this time, but a few nervous moments

:28:56. > :29:03.for Force India. Mark Webber only just doing it. Whether saved a set

:29:03. > :29:09.of the super-soft tyres, he did not go onto the super-soft. Sadly, we

:29:09. > :29:17.have lost both of the Williams from this part of qualifying. Bottas

:29:17. > :29:28.outqualified his more experienced team-mate, Pastor Maldonado.

:29:28. > :29:33.Bianchi outqualified his team-mate, Max Chilton, by two tenths of a

:29:33. > :29:43.second. Both of them are learning the circuit. Pic, Vander guard,

:29:43. > :29:48.Bianchi, Matt Chilton, but as and Maldonado are all out. -- Bottas and

:29:48. > :30:05.Maldonado. That was unbelievable.

:30:05. > :30:09.High, Paul di Resta sounding pretty disgruntled that you slowed his rap.

:30:09. > :30:20.Did you not realise he was behind you? I saw him, but he was quite

:30:20. > :30:28.far-away. I don't think he lost anything. You don't feel like he

:30:29. > :30:36.lost any time? I didn't. You will have to show me on the date, I am

:30:36. > :30:40.sure it is a flat corner. You might be having a conversation with him

:30:40. > :30:46.later. You have re-signed, did you not feel there was an opening for

:30:46. > :30:54.you with one of the biggest teams? I am happy with my team, we keep

:30:54. > :31:00.working together and improving. Disappointing for Williams, why was

:31:00. > :31:04.the performance not coming? The tyres were not performing well this

:31:04. > :31:07.afternoon which is a bit surprising because temperatures are similar to

:31:07. > :31:12.this morning and we could get the grip this morning, we were there

:31:12. > :31:17.with Force India. It fell away a bit this afternoon. Is that because of

:31:17. > :31:20.the track temperature dropping? It has not changed a lot of died

:31:20. > :31:24.thought we could handle it, but we of history did not.

:31:24. > :31:28.As the green light indicates the second segment of qualifying,

:31:28. > :31:32.interesting to hear there is work to be done at Williams, disappointing

:31:32. > :31:38.to see both caused out in the first part. Now the battle for the top

:31:38. > :31:43.ten. -- both caused out. We will have to see what happens in this

:31:43. > :31:50.session. Using the super-soft tyres, some drivers, but others got

:31:50. > :31:54.through without. Gary, your target time is accurate. McLaren felt it

:31:54. > :32:02.was accurate on their assessment. Who is looking in good shape in

:32:02. > :32:07.turns of tyre use? Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull used the medium tyres,

:32:07. > :32:12.as did Lewis Hamilton. You need the super-soft tyres in the last part of

:32:12. > :32:19.qualifying. But the other guys will probably, back in this session and

:32:19. > :32:25.run that set of super-soft tyres for a second run. It was brave of mock

:32:25. > :32:32.Webber to stay out -- Mark Webber to stay out, because it was tricky. We

:32:32. > :32:38.are watching Kimi Raikkonen towards turn three as he ills up speed, in

:32:38. > :32:43.turns of speech trap figures, Ferrari have been out on top for

:32:43. > :32:48.both Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso. Mark Webber is up there,

:32:48. > :32:52.faster than Sebastian Vettel. Red Bull have gone for different setups

:32:52. > :32:55.on Mark Webber 's car because they know he will have two work his way

:32:55. > :33:01.through the traffic with his ten place penalty, in a car that can

:33:01. > :33:05.take easily -- to work. They have gone for less downforce and a bit

:33:05. > :33:11.more on Sebastian Vettel 's, hoping he will have the pace for pole

:33:11. > :33:15.position. It is interesting because you do not normally see a big

:33:15. > :33:20.difference between two team-mates. That just shows there is more than

:33:20. > :33:29.one way to skin a cat of performance.

:33:29. > :33:34.Everybody is on the dues to super-soft tyres, I think, except

:33:34. > :33:40.for the Lewis Hamilton who has gone out any new set -- on the used. The

:33:40. > :33:43.outlet is slow, part of that is positioning to give yourself a clear

:33:43. > :33:50.run. Hamilton is coming out through five, Adrian Sutil is down in turn

:33:50. > :33:56.nine already. And part of it is trying to condition the tyre as late

:33:56. > :33:59.as possible. Kimi Raikkonen, it you get onto these long straights and

:33:59. > :34:03.not much the driver can do but hold on but you are losing temperature is

:34:03. > :34:09.the air cools the surface of the tyres. He will hit the brakes and

:34:09. > :34:14.hope he has made the right judgement call. 309 kilometres an hour at the

:34:14. > :34:18.speed trap, one of the lowest figures throughout the weekend. You

:34:18. > :34:21.can put yourself in a position where the car has more downforce and you

:34:21. > :34:33.perform well on that last sector which can get you to the point you

:34:33. > :34:40.are in video rest activation zone. -- the DRS activation zone.

:34:40. > :34:45.Downforce is clearly going to give you performance. He is coming

:34:45. > :34:52.through the fast sweep and he used a bit of curb on the exit, down a

:34:52. > :34:56.couple of gears into the tight right-hand turn ten. Very fast entry

:34:56. > :35:02.and the car has slowed down. The right-hand turn ten. Very fast entry

:35:02. > :35:07.camera angles on this circuit allow us to visibly see the speed of the

:35:07. > :35:14.cars in qualifying. Must be a lot of fun for the drivers to hang it all

:35:14. > :35:18.out. The car is looking responsive, they are running the long wheelbase

:35:18. > :35:21.of the Lotus, the first time in an qualifying session this year and

:35:21. > :35:31.Kimi Raikkonen likes the way it feels. One: 39 .2. We will see lap

:35:31. > :35:40.times faster than that. We have already seen that, so there is more

:35:40. > :35:45.time to come. David thought he might get a chance to drive this weekend

:35:45. > :35:51.but sadly for him, Kimi Raikkonen is in great shape. We are on board with

:35:51. > :35:59.Fernando Alonso. Let me explain that small Kimi Raikkonen figure.

:35:59. > :36:03.Fernando Alonso comes out the last corner and he is on a used set of

:36:03. > :36:08.super-soft tyres and so is bit quicker. Nico Hulkenberg has gone

:36:08. > :36:11.second in between the Ferrari and the Lotus so that is a good run

:36:11. > :36:16.again but now he gets beaten by Felipe Massa. Lewis Hamilton is on

:36:16. > :36:20.the new set of super-soft tyres and he is definitely attacking the last

:36:20. > :36:26.section of the circuit, he has had one poor position here in 2011. --

:36:26. > :36:33.pole position. That was the only non-Red Bull pole position of the

:36:33. > :36:37.year. He was in a good mood yesterday and this morning. The car

:36:37. > :36:41.is clearly talking to him and looking strong. Slow motion of Kimi

:36:41. > :36:47.is clearly talking to him and Mikan -- of Kimi Raikkonen, the

:36:47. > :36:49.front wing looking as though it wants to be anywhere but attached to

:36:49. > :36:54.front wing looking as though it the car. Confirmation that the

:36:54. > :37:03.Sauber is in good shape is that Gutierrez has gone fourth, Nico

:37:03. > :37:08.Hulkenberg is six. -- in sixth place. Turn 12 catches everybody

:37:08. > :37:12.out. The Sauber cars are delivering good speed in that first sector.

:37:12. > :37:19.Gutierrez is quickest. We have dismissed it as being scoring areas,

:37:20. > :37:23.drivers have to make decisions in turns of the brakes and more

:37:23. > :37:33.importantly down into turn three four. -- and four. Jenson Button

:37:33. > :37:39.goes to sixth place for McLaren. His team-mate Sergio Perez has gone into

:37:39. > :37:45.ninth place, and Kimi was pushed back into the pit garage and the

:37:45. > :37:53.Lotus will probably come back out with new super-soft tyres. We will

:37:53. > :37:58.see what happens as they put that on to the front wing. Mark Webber on

:37:58. > :38:03.the super-soft tyres, what is the Red Bull capable of? He might have a

:38:03. > :38:05.penalty applied to his grid position but he goes flat out to see what lap

:38:05. > :38:14.time he can get. Good so far through but he goes flat out to see what lap

:38:14. > :38:21.the first corners. Only three other cars on track, he has a road ahead.

:38:21. > :38:34.And as they close the DRS ahead of the breaking point into turn three,

:38:34. > :38:40.nice and tidy. He is up on the first split on his own, but not fastest

:38:40. > :38:46.outright in this session yet. That is Gutierrez who is quickest in that

:38:46. > :38:50.sector. That is Nico Hulkenberg, it is a Sauber, anyway. This is a great

:38:50. > :39:15.sector. Through the corner nicely. Into this

:39:15. > :39:23.long turn 11. He does not want to risk spinning off the rear tyres.

:39:23. > :39:31.Into this Monte Carlo style section. Mark famously crashed out here in

:39:31. > :39:38.2007. -2010. Nice KERS being used here. It is a good lap but it is

:39:38. > :39:42.second quickest for Mark Webber, he is still not as quick as Hamilton,

:39:42. > :39:52.by two hundredths of a second slower. No time it yet for Sean Eric

:39:52. > :39:58.Verney, he is yet to come out. -- Jean-Eric Vergne. This is fastest

:39:58. > :40:02.for Lewis Hamilton. It is three tenths up on the Lewis Hamilton. But

:40:02. > :40:07.if the track is getting faster, you would expect that, the final sector

:40:07. > :40:11.is looking good. More downforce on Sebastian Vettel relative to Mark

:40:11. > :40:17.Webber. Unless he trips up through this session. He would get to start

:40:17. > :40:22.wherever he qualifies. And to take the chance of a gamble of running

:40:22. > :40:26.less downforce... Romain Grosjean has been looking stronger out of the

:40:26. > :40:31.Lotus cars this weekend and has had a good run recently. He was

:40:31. > :40:35.unfortunate in Singapore with air pressure issues putting him out of

:40:35. > :40:37.the Grand Prix. He has gone out on the set of super-soft tyres and he

:40:37. > :40:42.will be at an advantage to his the set of super-soft tyres and he

:40:42. > :40:44.team-mate going into the final segment of qualifying. So Romain

:40:44. > :40:48.Grosjean will hope that is enough and I think it well, he is half a

:40:48. > :40:53.second quicker than Fernando Alonso at the moment so he will have two

:40:53. > :41:04.come back out. Kimi Raikkonen is in the drops own but he needs her go

:41:05. > :41:09.onto a lap now -- the drop zone. And some support here for Kimi Raikkonen

:41:09. > :41:16.as he uses DRS down the long straight. And this lap is important

:41:16. > :41:23.to him, or 1.75 minutes and this will be his attempts to get into the

:41:23. > :41:29.top ten. -- only 1.75 minutes. He raced here once, he qualified fifth

:41:29. > :41:36.and finished fifth. That is quite a good sector to get into the top ten.

:41:36. > :41:40.That is not compared to the fastest time of Sebastian Vettel so far.

:41:40. > :41:51.Mark Webber heads for the pits and expect Sebastian Vettel to do the

:41:51. > :41:57.same. -- I expect. You need to get into the low 38, so plenty of cars

:41:57. > :42:02.still out on track. They all bunched together in the middle sector to

:42:02. > :42:05.find clear space. Kimi Raikkonen, next up is Adrian Sutil for him and

:42:05. > :42:11.Force India. This is going to cost next up is Adrian Sutil for him and

:42:11. > :42:16.him time, Adrian Sutil gets out of the way. Kimi Raikkonen is well up

:42:16. > :42:21.on time in turns of getting into the top ten. Jean-Eric Vergne ahead of

:42:21. > :42:24.him. If you do catch somebody here, difficult for both drivers. Kimi

:42:24. > :42:30.crashed here yesterday. But he goes difficult for both drivers. Kimi

:42:30. > :42:33.across the line into sixth place, that should be enough, a fraction

:42:33. > :42:39.slower than his team-mate but he had to use a second set of super-soft

:42:39. > :42:47.tyres. Fastest in the first sector was Fernando Alonso and now Nico

:42:47. > :42:55.Hulkenberg. This is Kimi Raikkonen. That will not cost him any time. A

:42:55. > :42:59.bit of a drift. Rally style. Nice change of direction. Fernando

:42:59. > :43:02.Alonso, he was quickest in the first section Nico Hulkenberg has gone

:43:02. > :43:07.even quicker in the first sector, the Sauber still performing well.

:43:07. > :43:12.The chequered flag is out so if you changes in the top in the closing

:43:12. > :43:16.moments of this second section of qualifying -- saw a couple of

:43:17. > :43:22.changes. In the middle of turn 13, and the steering in the very is to

:43:22. > :43:31.-- is traditionally quite a slow right so they can make big inputs

:43:31. > :43:35.with very little change. Alonso, surely in the top ten? He has

:43:35. > :43:39.managed it every time so far this year and he goes into fourth place

:43:39. > :43:45.and safely through. So his record of getting into the top ten is held.

:43:45. > :43:51.And Nico Hulkenberg should be in the top ten, it has not happened much

:43:51. > :43:58.for Sauber. Daniel Ricciardo, it might not happen, he is in ninth

:43:58. > :44:02.ways. Toro Rosso, qualifying is not always so happy for them. Jean-Eric

:44:02. > :44:08.Vergne has crossed the line but he will not make it, he is in 11th

:44:08. > :44:15.place. Sergio Perez as just made it but Adrian Sutil definitely not in

:44:15. > :44:21.the top ten, he is in 11th place. And now Daniel Ricciardo gets pushed

:44:21. > :44:26.out because Gutierrez does it again. Jenson Button has fails to get into

:44:26. > :44:31.the top ten. Felipe Massa comes across the line and pushes him out.

:44:31. > :44:35.So he just squeaks into the top ten, Gutierrez for the second race in

:44:35. > :44:40.succession makes it into the final part of qualifying but neither

:44:40. > :44:44.McLaren driver is in the top ten. That has happened several times this

:44:44. > :44:48.year already but neither has got in. They thought they might have a

:44:48. > :44:57.faster car this weekend but that is not the case.

:44:57. > :45:09.We got screwed a little bit. I don't know who it was. We have lost the

:45:09. > :45:16.McLarens of Sergio Perez and Jenson Button, we have lost the two Toro

:45:16. > :45:25.Rossos and the two Force India heirs.

:45:25. > :45:32.You have had a good run, you have only missed two in the last. Were

:45:32. > :45:36.their problems out there today? More yesterday. We made hard work for

:45:36. > :45:42.ourselves and we slowly got closer and closer to the top ten as this

:45:42. > :45:46.morning went on, and qualifying, but I think there was only about a 10th

:45:47. > :45:52.in the end, but tent is nothing and it would have been good to be out

:45:52. > :45:59.there. How did you make it difficult for yourself? As a team, we were not

:45:59. > :46:03.happy with our performance. We didn't really come here with the

:46:03. > :46:08.ideal setup. I think the boys had a pretty late night trying to fix it.

:46:08. > :46:15.We improved today, but not enough, not as much as we would have liked.

:46:15. > :46:22.Wii we wish you the best for the race. Here is Q3. The beginning of

:46:22. > :46:25.Q3, the race for pole position. Hamilton and Vettel have both had

:46:25. > :46:33.five pole positions this season, who will come out on top or will we see

:46:33. > :46:37.a challenge from Nico Rosberg? A bumpy pit lane exit, but that should

:46:37. > :46:41.not affect anybody in qualifying. Maybe that will have more of a

:46:41. > :46:44.bearing in the race itself. Sebastian Vettel looks like the

:46:44. > :46:52.favourite to do this, but let's find out what happens.

:46:52. > :46:57.We are into the final ten minutes of qualifying. This is where it really

:46:57. > :47:01.counts. A great effort from Sauber to get both cars in the top ten. It

:47:01. > :47:06.is the first time they have ever had one car in the top ten and they have

:47:06. > :47:15.both. Hulkenberg in particular was very impressive. Gary? The team

:47:16. > :47:19.principal was talking about the improvement. They looked pretty

:47:19. > :47:43.good. Having two in the top ten is pretty good. The two Toro Rosso

:47:43. > :47:55.you need to get the lap in neat and tidy as not make any mistakes. At

:47:55. > :48:01.the end of the day, the car just got so much grip, there was so little

:48:01. > :48:09.action going on. They were working on the card very hard. Button on the

:48:09. > :48:24.car. Teams like the lap times are not as quick this year? -- it seems

:48:24. > :48:34.like. It has got a bit brighter, so I just come down to that. We shall

:48:34. > :48:39.see what happens as Mark whether -- Mark Webber goes on. He has to put

:48:39. > :48:41.the penalty out of his mind and focus, let's see what he can

:48:41. > :48:48.achieve. Let's have another go later. It will be a vital lap for

:48:48. > :48:53.Mark Webber. He will not be any better than 11th, whatever he does.

:48:53. > :49:00.I don't think he will have any problem focusing. Less focus is

:49:00. > :49:04.required at the opening sector of this lap, but as he starts

:49:04. > :49:14.approaching turn four, he will get into the zone. A nice, accurate line

:49:14. > :49:22.to the apex. They were on board with Lewis Hamilton, who is not far

:49:22. > :49:31.behind Mark Webber. Let's watch him. A small correction at the apex,

:49:31. > :49:36.nothing too bad. He will get a good drive of this as he goes over the

:49:36. > :49:45.rise and into this series of sweeping corners that he referred to

:49:45. > :49:58.earlier. One down shift as he went through the kink at nine. It is tidy

:49:58. > :50:04.in a -- enough so far. He is about a 10th down on what Vettel has done in

:50:04. > :50:07.the first sector. Hamilton is now going quicker, so it will be tight

:50:07. > :50:15.between the Red Bulls and the Mercedes. Sebastien Webber has set

:50:15. > :50:24.the benchmark, 1:37.4. Can Hamilton get it more quickly? 1:37.5, second

:50:24. > :50:31.quickest at the moment. Let's watch a Vettel.

:50:31. > :50:37.He is not fastest of all in that sector that he is still carrying a

:50:37. > :50:44.bit of speed from the first. -- but he is still carrying a bit of speed

:50:44. > :50:49.from the first. This is where he was quickest ball in the first part of

:50:49. > :50:57.qualifying. Sebastian Vettel goes fastest, 1:37.202. He and Mark

:50:57. > :51:02.qualifying. Sebastian Vettel goes Webber are running slightly

:51:02. > :51:06.different set-ups. It seems as though the higher downforce was

:51:06. > :51:12.helping Vettel. He seems to have that advantage every time this year,

:51:12. > :51:25.you has outqualified his team-mate. -- he has outqualified.

:51:25. > :51:31.He got a bit nervous in Singapore when he stepped out of the car,

:51:31. > :51:33.having taken pole position. I don't think we will see a J big step

:51:33. > :51:54.forward and performance on this racetrack.

:51:54. > :52:01.The track is a living thing, we have seen this before. Just because you

:52:01. > :52:08.know it from Friday or Saturday you cannot just replicate your lap, it

:52:08. > :52:12.changes due to wind, whether there are any shadows. You have to build

:52:12. > :52:16.up a level of confidence. Doing that all within the space of a ten minute

:52:16. > :52:22.section is a lot easier than trying to apply it as an outset from the

:52:22. > :52:26.morning. It is definitely an advantage to those five drivers who

:52:26. > :52:36.have gone out and set a lap time. The audit is Vettel, Hamilton,

:52:36. > :52:43.Grosjean. I should have just said it is definitely an advantage. We like

:52:43. > :52:48.the detail! Gutierrez didn't set a time, didn't bother, in Singapore. I

:52:48. > :52:52.wonder whether Sauber will go down a similar route? They might decide to

:52:52. > :52:54.go for it this time, the tyres seem to be holding up well and they have

:52:54. > :52:59.go for it this time, the tyres seem a very good performance here.

:52:59. > :53:03.Sebastian Vettel in the red crash helmet this weekend. You can see

:53:03. > :53:09.that pretty distinctly on the camera. He is fastest at the

:53:09. > :53:12.moment, 1:37.2. It would be a big deal for Renault if they got the

:53:12. > :53:17.pole position, they would match Ferrari in the all-time number of

:53:17. > :53:29.pole position is powered by one of their engines. A little wing

:53:29. > :53:30.adjustment being done. The information is being relayed back

:53:30. > :53:35.adjustment being done. The from the car to the engineer. He is

:53:35. > :53:42.getting straight into making the adjustment. A brand-new set of tyres

:53:42. > :53:47.for Lewis Hamilton. Can he just get a little bit closer? He was three

:53:47. > :53:53.tenths of a second, almost exactly, slower than Vettel. Whether still

:53:53. > :54:01.has the penalty to content with so, in effect, Hamilton is second at the

:54:01. > :54:10.moment. -- Webber still has the penalty to content with. Everybody

:54:10. > :54:17.is now out. It looks like both of the Saubers will put in a

:54:17. > :54:21.representative effort. It is great to see everybody doing their best.

:54:21. > :54:27.There was a bumper on the way out of the pit lane. If it was wet, it

:54:27. > :54:30.could cause problems. Vettel is the last one out of the pits, he has to

:54:30. > :54:41.get around before the chequered flag. There is one minute 40 to go.

:54:41. > :54:45.He has the DRS open. There is no benefit in what he will learn and

:54:45. > :54:54.having that open right now, but it gives some lap time advantage. It is

:54:55. > :55:02.a faster lap than you might have wanted, given what we have seen from

:55:02. > :55:04.the performance of these tyres. It is pretty much bunched up everywhere

:55:04. > :55:19.from turn 13 to turn four. An interesting bit of radio after

:55:19. > :55:24.the last run. Rocky was considering there may be a 10th to be found in

:55:24. > :55:30.the middle sector, Vettel wanted the change to the front wing. It puts a

:55:30. > :55:35.bit more load on the front axle. The difficulty in making any of these

:55:35. > :55:40.adjustment is based on the tyres that you have on the car. If you put

:55:40. > :55:45.brand-new tyres on, there is no guarantee they will perform the

:55:45. > :55:52.same. You are making a best educated guess at where the power is going to

:55:52. > :55:57.be in the future. We will keep an eye on their split times. Rosberg is

:55:57. > :56:05.going to be first on to a time-lapse as we are watching. Impressive

:56:05. > :56:11.turning from Rosberg. You can see the intent in his striving style.

:56:11. > :56:16.Hamilton has been slightly quicker for the majority of the session.

:56:16. > :56:25.Apart from a natural desire to want to drive as quickly as you can,

:56:25. > :56:28.there is the inter-team battle. Gutierrez was quicker in the first

:56:28. > :56:36.sector than Rosberg, but Alonso is a lot quicker than good first sector

:56:36. > :56:43.from him. Looking up the circuit, Vettel is not far behind Raikkonen.

:56:43. > :56:49.The Lotus is not that far ahead. Any mistakes from Raikkonen, it could

:56:49. > :56:55.have been Vettel's lap. We are currently watching Rosberg.

:56:55. > :57:00.Gutierrez is up ahead of him on the road. Gutierrez is heading for a

:57:00. > :57:03.quick lap himself. Hulkenberg has just set the fastest first sector of

:57:03. > :57:11.anybody out there, proving the pace of the sober. Here comes Rosberg.

:57:11. > :57:22.There might be a new benchmark. Rosberg stays fifth. Maybe there is

:57:22. > :57:25.not as much grip on this final run. Hamilton has handsome grip. He has

:57:25. > :57:34.gone fastest. He is in the last couple of corners. Is this enough of

:57:34. > :57:40.a lap for Lewis Hamilton? He eats Webber, but it is not fast enough to

:57:40. > :57:46.beat Vettel. -- he beat 's Mark Webber. Hulkenberg 07. Hamilton was

:57:47. > :57:51.very good in the middle sector. I think Vettel has backed out. He has

:57:51. > :57:56.got the message, sorry to come across you, Ben, but we work your

:57:56. > :58:02.ears to see whether he would go even faster. Raikkonen losing out in the

:58:02. > :58:07.end, he is 10th fastest. Alonso has outqualified Felipe Massa. Sebastian

:58:07. > :58:13.Vettel has taken his sixth pole position of the year and his fourth

:58:13. > :58:16.consecutive, what a run he is on. Renault have matched Ferrari in

:58:16. > :58:21.terms of powering a car to pole position on 208 occasions since

:58:21. > :58:28.their first pole in South Africa in 1979. Renault have supplied engines

:58:28. > :58:32.to their own team and also to the likes of Lotus, Williams and,

:58:32. > :58:39.significantly, this amazing team, Red Bull Racing. They have taken a

:58:39. > :58:48.52nd pole position. It is the second for Sebastien in Korea and his 42nd

:58:48. > :58:53.in his career. He is in dominant form. Hamilton will join him on the

:58:53. > :58:57.front row, the 20th time they have shared the front row, but the second

:58:57. > :59:01.row will feature Grosjean and Rosberg, because Mark Webber has a

:59:01. > :59:12.penalty. Gutierrez is really finding form. The McLarens, Perez and

:59:13. > :59:23.button, will each move up one place. -- Perez and Button.

:59:23. > :59:35.Once again, Sebastian Vettel will be starting from pole position.

:59:35. > :59:42.Congratulations, four poles on the bat, was that a perfect lap?

:59:42. > :59:49.I was very happy. It is a difficult track to get it right. I possibly

:59:49. > :59:58.overshot at turn ten, there is a bumper inside which I hit. It

:59:58. > :00:02.separate a little bit. There is probably five hundredths, or a

:00:02. > :00:12.tense, but I was happy. It is a nice feeling. You are still keeping it

:00:12. > :00:17.tight. We are joining at turn four. Talk us through? This is very

:00:17. > :00:21.tricky, it was very slow. I hit that apex the first time in qualifying, I

:00:21. > :00:27.tricky, it was very slow. I hit that overshot it in the other maps. I was

:00:27. > :00:33.gaining time, which is always nice. Right to left is pretty easy.

:00:33. > :00:38.Preparing the left-hander. Now you can see that it is just on the edge.

:00:38. > :00:47.We just hit that and got a little bit wide. Quite aggressive? I had to

:00:47. > :00:55.manage to get it, it was pretty tricky. From here you just keep

:00:55. > :01:00.going right, left, Right, left. The tyres are going off but I kept it in

:01:00. > :01:07.line. The final exit, just on the edge. There is some artificial

:01:07. > :01:13.grass. Apart from that one corner I was pretty happy. Great

:01:14. > :01:19.grass. Apart from that one corner I commentating! Good luck tomorrow.

:01:19. > :01:24.Mark, you qualified third, you took the ten place grid penalty, when you

:01:24. > :01:29.go into qualifying, do you optimise the car for a Sunday? A little bit,

:01:29. > :01:32.we have to keep an eye on the Sunday performance. We know we will not

:01:32. > :01:37.qualify on the front row, it was close, a battle between the three of

:01:37. > :01:42.us. Quite a couple of guys shooting for the front role and pole

:01:42. > :01:48.position, -- the front row. We take a sniff out of performance from the

:01:48. > :01:52.car today to help you race craft and your tactics of how you have the car

:01:52. > :01:55.car today to help you race craft and and what section of the lap will be

:01:55. > :02:00.better. A real pity he has got that penalty

:02:00. > :02:05.after qualifying so well, what can he do from 13th place? He can move

:02:05. > :02:10.forward, he has a quick car, he can have some fun and move through the

:02:10. > :02:15.field. He has set the car to get good front line speed so it should

:02:15. > :02:21.be easier in the migratory zones. Can anyone beat Sebastien? Difficult

:02:21. > :02:25.to beat him unless you can get in front at the start of the Grand Prix

:02:25. > :02:28.and Mark Webber cannot do that in normal conditions. We have seen

:02:28. > :02:32.safety cars here because of rain and other issues. Which is a

:02:32. > :02:37.possibility. There is the possibility of rain here, but under

:02:37. > :02:40.normal conditions, the interesting statistic I saw was that nobody has

:02:40. > :02:45.won from pole position so we will see if that plays a part, but

:02:45. > :02:50.Sebastian Vettel is looking very strong.

:02:50. > :02:57.Lewis, are you getting fed up of seeing the back of a Red Bull? No,

:02:57. > :03:02.he is to the right so I am not looking at the back. I came this

:03:02. > :03:05.weekend and I knew they would have an advantage. I am just grateful I

:03:05. > :03:11.am this close and to be up there second is a bit like in Spa where

:03:11. > :03:15.second place was not a bad place to be because you have two Romain

:03:15. > :03:21.Grosjean Straits. I have to do my best to get into the best position.

:03:21. > :03:26.-2 Romain Grosjean Straits. Are you happy with tomorrow? We have a good

:03:26. > :03:30.package and I am -- I am happy with the strategy and we should be able

:03:30. > :03:34.to fight the Red Bull cars. He sounds positive, were you

:03:34. > :03:37.to fight the Red Bull cars. surprised they did not hit pole

:03:37. > :03:43.position? I think they were, they had a good car in qualifying and

:03:43. > :03:48.they had a good Friday, I have never seen Lewis so happy after a Friday.

:03:48. > :03:50.A bit disappointing weather conditions did not allow them to

:03:50. > :03:53.A bit disappointing weather exploit that single lap performance

:03:53. > :03:59.but they have good hope for a race balance. So a fighting chance?

:03:59. > :04:04.Absolutely, he has a good car and he knows the race, so it is by no God

:04:04. > :04:10.-- by no means a foregone conclusion. But he has to get in

:04:10. > :04:15.front from the start and control it. Let's hear from Nico Rosberg.

:04:15. > :04:22.I did not find the balance I hoped for this weekend. Qualifying did not

:04:22. > :04:26.go perfectly and the weekend has not gone perfectly, but fourth place is

:04:26. > :04:30.a good place to start and it is possible to have a great race. Are

:04:30. > :04:34.you battling Romain Grosjean tomorrow or can you battle your

:04:34. > :04:39.team-mate and Sebastian Vettel as well? I will try to battle everybody

:04:39. > :04:43.had of me. Sebastian Vettel has been quick all weekend but we had quick

:04:44. > :04:48.race pace and it is possible to stay there.

:04:48. > :04:54.Congratulations, great qualifying and you are going to move to third

:04:54. > :04:59.on the grid with the penalty for Mark Webber. That is good news but

:04:59. > :05:01.the best news is that we have a comfortable car which is quite

:05:01. > :05:05.the best news is that we have a efficient and we have been working

:05:05. > :05:09.hard all weekend so it is good to be with the top guys in qualifying. We

:05:09. > :05:17.said we wanted to fight and that is where we are. We were very quick. We

:05:17. > :05:20.will do our best in the car. Last time out, on the key in

:05:20. > :05:26.Singapore. But you have been very strong the second half of the season

:05:26. > :05:31.-- on lucky in Singapore. That has been played out again. We started

:05:31. > :05:35.the season in Bahrain for the first week of testing so we started late

:05:35. > :05:37.and by the time we did everything we needed to do, it is paying off now

:05:37. > :05:42.and it is looking good and the team needed to do, it is paying off now

:05:42. > :05:46.is doing a great job to give us everything we need. It is looking

:05:46. > :05:49.good. Are you ready to lead the team next

:05:49. > :05:53.year? And will do the best I can to show

:05:53. > :05:56.them what I am capable of and I think I am ready. I have known them

:05:56. > :06:02.for two migrant years together and we know the process and how it works

:06:02. > :06:05.so there is no reason. Thank you very much, good luck

:06:05. > :06:10.tomorrow. Let's hear from Kimi Raikkonen.

:06:10. > :06:19.How do you feel after qualifying? I made a mistake in the last

:06:19. > :06:23.qualifying. It is what it is. And transferring it over tomorrow,

:06:23. > :06:29.have you got a better race car than in qualifying? From yesterday, yes.

:06:30. > :06:34.But obviously, we have to see how the weather turns out tomorrow and

:06:34. > :06:35.what we can do. He has not looked comfortable all

:06:35. > :06:39.weekend. His qualifying has been off He has not looked comfortable all

:06:40. > :06:45.target recently, what are your thoughts? That is his best

:06:45. > :06:49.qualifying since he was in Spa. That suggests he is not in a happy place,

:06:49. > :06:55.maybe he has switched off and moved onto very. What would confuse that

:06:55. > :07:02.was how strong he was in Singapore. There is no question those tyres do

:07:02. > :07:05.not give as much grip, he is in turn in turn 11 here. They were locked up

:07:06. > :07:16.a bit in turn ten and there is over-steer. 13, hesitant. Easy to

:07:16. > :07:24.criticise in the comfort here. This is the apex at their team. A

:07:24. > :07:27.slightly bigger left. But on prescription tyres without the grip

:07:27. > :07:33.and he did not find the balance. Were they the only set he had left?

:07:33. > :07:37.He has a new set for the race which will give him an advantage,

:07:37. > :07:42.presuming he does two pit stops. Some people might try to do one so

:07:42. > :07:50.he will go from that one set onto his fresh set of prime tyres.

:07:50. > :07:54.You are busy concentrating on yourself on a Saturday, but do you

:07:54. > :07:59.look at the timings and see what Sebastian Vettel is doing and is it

:07:59. > :08:04.frustrating? It is the same for years so it is no more frustrating.

:08:04. > :08:09.They have an advantage between half a second and one second for four

:08:09. > :08:13.years we are fighting for the World Championship until the last race.

:08:13. > :08:18.They do something very good but we also do something very good in turns

:08:18. > :08:22.of points every Sunday so we need to get the maximum again tomorrow and

:08:22. > :08:28.this is our strong point. Massive glasses! Such a different story to

:08:28. > :08:31.this time last year for very. Unquestionably and those big classes

:08:31. > :08:36.do nothing to hide the disappointment! He is underwhelmed

:08:36. > :08:41.by the progress of very. He says they have been in the hunt for the

:08:41. > :08:46.World Championship over a couple of seasons. But it is not enough, they

:08:46. > :08:47.need to be delivering at a higher level. He keeps his end of the

:08:48. > :08:53.bargain and he delivers podiums when level. He keeps his end of the

:08:53. > :08:57.other drivers could not. Looking to tomorrow, they are starting from

:08:57. > :09:03.fifth and sixth place and you would expect a good start, particularly

:09:03. > :09:05.from Fernando, but it will be hard to get past Sebastian Vettel.

:09:05. > :09:08.Anything is possible in the race but the best he could hope for is a

:09:08. > :09:12.podium under normal conditions, I do the best he could hope for is a

:09:12. > :09:20.not think they can out race Red Bull and Mercedes.

:09:20. > :09:25.How do you think the car is set up heading into a race here?

:09:25. > :09:29.I think it is all right. It is similar to qualifying compared to

:09:29. > :09:37.the competitors. It will be tricky to move a lot further forward. The

:09:37. > :09:42.Force India cars behind us, their pace was good yesterday, a touch

:09:42. > :09:46.better than ours, so there will be a good group of cars.

:09:46. > :09:50.It seems like a battle now with McLaren and Force India for fifth

:09:50. > :09:54.place, but Force India have been struggling since the tyre change so

:09:54. > :10:00.McLaren could win. It shows how far McLaren have fallen in pace around

:10:00. > :10:03.this track they think they are battling a team no longer developing

:10:03. > :10:08.their car, they are concentrating on next season. Big issues for McLaren

:10:08. > :10:13.and I am sure it is not lost on them the team they are battling to use

:10:13. > :10:20.their simulation and development facilities at the McLaren

:10:20. > :10:23.headquarters. A great performance by the Sauber

:10:23. > :10:29.and buy yourself, you must be really pleased. Yes, to be honest, it has

:10:29. > :10:34.taken a lot of energy and work for qualifying. It was quite critical

:10:34. > :10:41.before Singapore. From a personal point of view, it was not fun to

:10:41. > :10:47.qualify in 16th place. We really pushed ourselves and had a lot of

:10:47. > :10:48.support from the team. I want to thank them for their support because

:10:48. > :10:53.we were able to put everything thank them for their support because

:10:53. > :10:56.together in Singapore. Once you feel it, once you feel you are capable of

:10:56. > :11:02.doing it, everything comes together and you get hungry to do it again.

:11:02. > :11:08.Nice to see Esteban Gutierrez smiling. It seems like Sauber are

:11:08. > :11:12.having a purple patch. They are, it is allowing Nico Hulkenberg to show

:11:12. > :11:14.his great strength behind the wheel. A number of teams would have him as

:11:14. > :11:21.his great strength behind the wheel. number one. Gutierrez, too little

:11:21. > :11:25.too late. They are having financial difficulties so is the Mexican money

:11:25. > :11:28.coming with them? What about in turns of tomorrow, can they finish

:11:28. > :11:33.coming with them? What about in in top ten? I think so, good

:11:33. > :11:36.straight-line speed and they have been quickest in the first sector

:11:36. > :11:40.which is about straight-line speed and maintaining position, so I

:11:40. > :11:46.expect a strong race. Let's look at the grid tomorrow.

:11:46. > :11:52.Sebastian Vettel maintains his 100% record of qualifying in the front

:11:52. > :11:58.row here. But Lewis Hamilton has been in Q2 for the last couple of

:11:58. > :12:03.years. The two very cars are next and Fernando Alonso has won here

:12:03. > :12:07.before and Sauber have enjoyed their best qualifying team performance of

:12:07. > :12:10.the year. Kimi Raikkonen will start in ninth place ahead of Sergio

:12:10. > :12:20.Perez, Jenson Button is in 11th place. Mark Webber is in 13th. Force

:12:20. > :12:26.India is next, ahead of Williams. Jules Bianchi was penalised and now

:12:26. > :12:30.lines up behind his team-mate. That is the grid for tomorrow, if it

:12:30. > :12:34.lines up behind his team-mate. is stride, Canon Lewis take it to

:12:34. > :12:41.Sebastian Vettel? -- can Lewis Hamilton. Yes. If it rains, who will

:12:42. > :12:46.it favour? Good question, I do not have a good answer. It remains to be

:12:46. > :12:50.seen, we have not had enough wet sessions this year to know who has

:12:50. > :12:56.the upper hand in those conditions. Sebastien Hank -- Sebastian Vettel

:12:56. > :13:02.is handy in the wet racing but so is Lewis Hamilton, he won in 2010. And

:13:02. > :13:06.there could be wind. That always causes big problems for aerodynamics

:13:06. > :13:10.because the front wing is more affected by the slow velocity wind

:13:10. > :13:14.relative to the tailwind which affects the car into the corners. It

:13:14. > :13:22.is a big issues. Joining us tomorrow -- joy as tomorrow on BBC Two. --

:13:22. > :13:28.joint ours. The Korean Grand Prix, Sebastian Vettel is on pole

:13:28. > :13:30.position, but will it be stormy? Join us to find out.
