:02:49. > :02:54.Special delivery for Lewis Hamilton, we hope to bring you some

:02:54. > :02:58.first-class racing this weekend. Welcome to qualifying from Barcelona

:02:58. > :03:03.for the Spanish Grand Prix. The sun is shining, the weather is looking

:03:03. > :03:13.good, and we are hoping for some breathtaking action, just like we

:03:13. > :03:20.saw in Bahrain. It is not a great start by Nico

:03:20. > :03:24.Rosberg, Fernando Alonso very quick. Fernando Alonso round the outside,

:03:24. > :03:30.he is going to get at least second here, from Sebastian Vettel.

:03:30. > :03:40.Sebastian Vettel comes back, into the high-speed chicane, he is past

:03:40. > :03:42.

:03:42. > :03:48.him. He has done it.They will need to pay to put the DRS rear wing in

:03:48. > :03:58.place. Can they get round safely? He drives him off the circuit! Come

:03:58. > :03:59.

:03:59. > :04:04.on! It is broken, he will have to pit again. Sergio Perez goes for it.

:04:04. > :04:14.Don't hit each other, boys! Do they need to fight this hard? It is

:04:14. > :04:15.

:04:15. > :04:20.putting them in danger. He has hit him! That was pretty hefty contact.

:04:20. > :04:27.Kimi Raikkonen goes across the marbles. He is second. That was

:04:27. > :04:34.beautiful. Romain Grosjean get past Paul di Resta. He gets into third

:04:34. > :04:42.place. He is down the inside of the Ferrari, side-by-side on the exit of

:04:42. > :04:46.the corner. They touch! It is very hot stuff between Mark Webber and

:04:46. > :04:51.Lewis Hamilton. Lewis Hamilton has gone down the inside for fifth

:04:51. > :04:57.place, he is on to the last lap. Sebastian Vettel wins in Bahrain.

:04:57. > :05:02.Yes! Quite a touchy-feely race from

:05:02. > :05:10.Bahrain, just the way we like it, that this is round five, and we are

:05:10. > :05:15.back in Europe. In a couple of weeks, the glitz of Monaco. Then,

:05:15. > :05:21.Montreal, followed by a homecoming for four drivers at Silverstone. You

:05:21. > :05:27.can revel in the atmosphere in Northamptonshire or watch it live on

:05:27. > :05:31.BBC, as well as all of the free practice. This weekend, it is about

:05:31. > :05:34.tap us and Rioja as the Catalan crowd swarmed into the circuit to

:05:35. > :05:44.see if there he wrote Fernando Alonso can fight the Bulls and

:05:45. > :06:12.

:06:12. > :06:16.To lead us gracefully through the weekend, David Coulthard. He has

:06:16. > :06:20.appeared on the podium here for times. And Eddie Jordan. Eddie

:06:20. > :06:26.Jordan has never appeared on the podium here, but he is wearing a

:06:26. > :06:32.fabulous shirt! I will have to check that! I am sure you are right!

:06:32. > :06:37.do you feel about the championship so far? We have been served titanic

:06:37. > :06:41.battles in every area, and I see that continuing, more of the same,

:06:41. > :06:46.please. We want the excitement and the glamour and as many different

:06:46. > :06:54.winners as we can get. Pastor Maldonado threw up a surprise last

:06:54. > :07:03.year, winning for Williams, their first win since 2004. He was no

:07:03. > :07:06.friend of mine! It was a great result for Williams, but they looked

:07:06. > :07:13.some way short of achieving that this weekend. Qualifying is so

:07:13. > :07:16.important here. Everybody thinks Monaco is the most important, but 20

:07:16. > :07:25.out of the 22 races have been one here from the front row. Why is

:07:25. > :07:30.that? You can overtake, but Formula 1 was historically the fastest car

:07:30. > :07:35.qualifying at the front, and it was a series of sprints, but with DRS

:07:35. > :07:41.and carrying the fuel levels, and managing the tyres, that is why it

:07:41. > :07:50.is possible to overtake. It is the unpredictability of the tyres.

:07:50. > :07:53.has been going on already. Here is the news.

:07:53. > :08:00.Fernando Alonso has only once when the Spanish grand prix, but he hopes

:08:00. > :08:05.he can add to that. Qualifying is not Ferrari's strong point, and this

:08:05. > :08:12.race has been won from the front row for 16 years. It is time to break

:08:12. > :08:17.this statistic. This year, with the degradation, many things can

:08:17. > :08:22.happen. It is more important to have a good tyre management and to have

:08:22. > :08:26.an extra point to in qualifying. Sebastian Vettel has an impressive

:08:26. > :08:31.strike rate when it comes to pole position, and he has claimed top

:08:31. > :08:35.spot in over a third of his career. He has not had it all of his own way

:08:35. > :08:40.this year, but he hopes Red Bull will answer his prayers. Number one

:08:40. > :08:46.on the wish list was to understand the tyres and the races we had and

:08:46. > :08:51.why we have suffered. Jenson Button and Sergio Perez have talked things

:08:51. > :08:55.through after they clashed on track in Bahrain. They are battling not

:08:55. > :09:02.just with each other but also with an underperforming MacLaren, and

:09:02. > :09:09.that does not look to have got better. We are in a similar position

:09:09. > :09:13.than we were two weekends ago. If anything, slightly worse. With this

:09:13. > :09:20.sport, everybody is moving forward, so even if we have gained, everybody

:09:20. > :09:24.is gaining. It is tricky. But they are working flat out to improve it.

:09:24. > :09:29.Paul di Resta was not happy after this happened in free practice

:09:29. > :09:33.yesterday, but he has had a smile on his face since his performance in

:09:33. > :09:39.Bahrain. He finished in fourth place, just missing out on his first

:09:39. > :09:44.podium. We need to build a faster car. If they want me to get onto the

:09:44. > :09:48.podium, they need to give me something. It is nice to get fourth

:09:48. > :09:53.place out of the way early in the year. If you had said that at the

:09:53. > :09:56.beginning, I would have grabbed it with both hands. Lewis Hamilton has

:09:56. > :10:01.never won the Spanish Grand Prix, but he knows how important the start

:10:01. > :10:04.of the European leg of the championship is. We need strong

:10:04. > :10:11.results going into the European season, so it is important for

:10:11. > :10:16.everybody. This is one of the toughest parts of the year. As we

:10:16. > :10:22.come off such a long break. I hope we get off on the right foot.

:10:22. > :10:29.Finally, James Anderson has left his position as technical director of

:10:29. > :10:33.Lotus, with Nick Chester replacing him. The resignation comes as a blow

:10:33. > :10:36.to the team, currently second in the constructors championship. It is

:10:36. > :10:44.thought he will go to Williams, McLaren or Ferrari.

:10:44. > :10:50.It is a blow for the team, round five, how much of a blow? We are

:10:50. > :10:55.underplaying it, it is a massive blow. For any team that is

:10:55. > :10:59.successful to lose their technical director, it is just short of

:10:59. > :11:05.catastrophic in my view, it is a big estate. The smart money is he is

:11:05. > :11:10.going to move to Ferrari. How good is he? Peak is one of the star

:11:10. > :11:16.designers in Formula 1. It is not just a case of losing one man, it is

:11:16. > :11:21.what he does to the confidence of the rest of the team. As a driver,

:11:22. > :11:27.cannot affect you psychologically? Of course. When I moved to Red

:11:27. > :11:32.Bull, I wanted the best person available. He has joined the team

:11:32. > :11:37.and taken them forward. The drivers are attached to their engineers and

:11:37. > :11:41.designers. Everybody has been talking about updates in Barcelona,

:11:41. > :11:47.we have discussed it, Gary has got the headlines.

:11:47. > :11:49.I have had a look at some of the performances in the first four races

:11:49. > :11:58.of the season, it is not just the fastest card that leads the

:11:58. > :12:01.championship. Averaging the fastest lap by each driver, I have got ten

:12:01. > :12:11.cars together to do a lap of Barcelona. Nico Rosberg is the

:12:11. > :12:12.

:12:12. > :12:21.fastest. I have given the gaps in car lengths. The bottom number,

:12:21. > :12:25.Lewis Hamilton is 3.2 car lengths behind Nico Rosberg. Felipe Massa is

:12:25. > :12:31.close to his team-mate, but still 7.3 car lengths away from the

:12:31. > :12:35.fastest. Mark Webber has got a lot of ground to make up to Sebastian

:12:35. > :12:44.Vettel, and the same for Romain Grosjean behind Kimi Raikkonen. But

:12:44. > :12:49.this is what the team wants to see, the drivers close together. If the

:12:49. > :12:55.team build a better car, they will move up and give them two chances.

:12:55. > :12:59.In the top ten, McLaren are absent. They have got a lot of updates,

:12:59. > :13:04.including the side pods, getting more air flow to pick up the

:13:04. > :13:08.high-speed air coming out of the exhaust system Tom moving get inside

:13:08. > :13:18.the rear tyre, to create more downforce. They have also tested a

:13:18. > :13:18.

:13:18. > :13:22.new front wing. They have changed the inboard end. It allows better

:13:22. > :13:27.airflow to the back of the car, but they have not got anything out of

:13:27. > :13:30.it. If I was trying to develop the McLaren, I would be looking at this

:13:30. > :13:37.problem, the front of the car bouncing up and down. It onset of

:13:37. > :13:43.the driver on the corner entry. What Red Bull, you need more slot gaps,

:13:43. > :13:48.so you get more consistent downforce. The top teams have got

:13:48. > :13:54.more compensated front wings. If you look at Red Bull, the car hardly

:13:54. > :13:58.moves, so the driver can commit to the corner much quicker. McLaren

:13:58. > :14:01.still have a lot of work to do, and they had better get on with it,

:14:01. > :14:07.because the championship is getting away from them.

:14:07. > :14:12.Yes, there is a lot of disappointed McLaren fans out there. The thing

:14:12. > :14:16.about upgrades, this is not a place where you can win, but you can lose

:14:16. > :14:26.out if you are not as fast and things are not working as well as

:14:26. > :14:26.

:14:26. > :15:08.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 42 seconds

:15:08. > :15:12.everybody else. Let's have a look at time last year and - --. Those

:15:12. > :15:22.championship-winning days seem to be becoming ever more distant. What

:15:22. > :15:25.

:15:25. > :15:32.When I came into motorsport, there were two teams I revered - Williams

:15:32. > :15:40.and McLaren. Two great British teams that dominated the 80s and

:15:40. > :15:46.90s. There is the world champions. Both had legendary names behind the

:15:46. > :15:54.wheels of their machines. 36 championships between them now seen

:15:54. > :15:59.such a distant memory. This here, Williams are yet to score a point.

:15:59. > :16:08.McLaren, who threw away the Championship last year, are

:16:08. > :16:11.celebrating 10th place on the grid in Bahrain. It is a bit sad that

:16:11. > :16:18.the world champion is quite so excited to have made it into the

:16:18. > :16:23.top 10. What has gone wrong? Only five races ago we were winning

:16:23. > :16:30.cranberries. When you are operating at that level, you are going to go

:16:30. > :16:36.through peaks and troughs. You take risks. In our case, over the winter,

:16:36. > :16:44.we changed a lot of things to the car - a grand prix winning kart -

:16:44. > :16:50.and we did that with a view that it would pay back in the long term. --

:16:50. > :16:57.car. Arguably, you have the fast as car last season. Where has it all

:16:57. > :17:02.gone? You are in 6th place. What are you going to do about this?

:17:02. > :17:08.have done a lot of aerodynamic and mechanical testing. We do not focus

:17:08. > :17:13.on one area. If I look at the history of teams who have had poor

:17:13. > :17:19.seasons, you can have a poor season and still come 4th or 5th in the

:17:19. > :17:25.Championship. It is not like that anymore. And you are at the back

:17:25. > :17:30.and out of the points. The Grid has certainly become more competitive

:17:30. > :17:37.but that is the name of the game. It is a competition - survival of

:17:37. > :17:44.the fittest. At this grand prix last year, Williams won. They

:17:45. > :17:52.thought they had turned a corner. Our aim now going backwards? -- are

:17:52. > :17:58.they now going backwards? They are really struggling. Marussia are

:17:58. > :18:01.much more competitive. You are now saying they are your competitors.

:18:02. > :18:06.think they have done a good job this year and we have not fulfilled

:18:06. > :18:11.our potential. We believe in a few races we will be back up to where

:18:11. > :18:16.we were before. McLaren always attracted the biggest names in

:18:16. > :18:21.Formula One. Lewis Hamilton was no exception and his loss looks like

:18:21. > :18:27.it is hurting the team even more as Sergio Perez struggles to make the

:18:27. > :18:31.step up. This time last year you had twice as many points as you do

:18:31. > :18:41.now. Really? Definitely not the start to the season I would like to

:18:41. > :18:42.

:18:42. > :18:47.have had. Is Sergio Perez here because of his ability and what he

:18:47. > :18:56.can bring to the team? He brings no cash to the team Foster he was

:18:56. > :19:01.selected because of his excellent performances on long runs. -- the

:19:01. > :19:07.team. At Williams, a combination of a lack of expense drivers and a

:19:07. > :19:12.poor car has made them one of the slowest in qualifying. Williams do

:19:12. > :19:22.not seem to be quite as competitive. I take it you are not ultra

:19:22. > :19:24.

:19:24. > :19:30.concerned? Not alter concerned but I am concerned. -- Ultra concerned.

:19:30. > :19:34.The board appoints Sam Michael's to run the show. What would you do to

:19:34. > :19:41.turn this team around? It is not appropriate for me to discuss my

:19:41. > :19:47.position within the company. I understand what the board is doing

:19:47. > :19:52.to get this car back to the front. I would be backing them. What would

:19:52. > :19:57.you do? I just answer that. I would be supporting what the guys are

:19:57. > :20:03.doing now. You would not change anything? That is the fastest way

:20:03. > :20:09.of getting ourselves back to the front. It is all very well he's

:20:09. > :20:13.smiling. It is not great news for Jenson Button and Sergio Perez.

:20:13. > :20:20.is more frustrating for Jenson Button. He knows that when you have

:20:20. > :20:26.a difficult car, the chances of turning it round up pretty slim.

:20:26. > :20:31.Can they do it? Of course they can. It does beg the question, why do

:20:31. > :20:36.McLaren find themselves in these situations more often than not? If

:20:36. > :20:42.you look at Lotus, they might not always have had championship-

:20:42. > :20:47.winning cars but they have always been in the top three. Eddy did ask

:20:47. > :20:56.the question but it was skirted around. How can they go from having

:20:56. > :21:02.the fastest car tha steered. -- last year with Jenson Button doing

:21:02. > :21:10.so well. They have turned up in the way they did. They do not seem to

:21:10. > :21:15.be moving forward. Be fundamentally changed the design of the car.

:21:15. > :21:21.Clearly they have gone for a different aerodynamic concept. They

:21:21. > :21:26.talk about correlation. Sergio Perez kept mentioning coronation.

:21:26. > :21:33.That is taking up wind-tunnel data, putting it on the race track and

:21:33. > :21:40.not seeing the result. As far as I know, they still use the wind

:21:40. > :21:45.tunnel, as do Ferrari and other teams. That he is based in Cologne.

:21:45. > :21:54.The difficulty they have is the odd car would probably be quicker than

:21:54. > :21:59.the new one. -- the old car. What you're saying about the wind tunnel

:21:59. > :22:06.testing and bringing it here. In the free practice sessions, they

:22:06. > :22:11.would have been testing it. It does not seem to have worked. It clearly

:22:11. > :22:17.has not. It is embarrassing for the top teams - teams that aspire to

:22:17. > :22:21.win championships - to explain why it is not working. They had

:22:21. > :22:27.investors, sponsors and fans who follow the team. They had to

:22:27. > :22:33.explain themselves. It is the same for a football manager or a public

:22:33. > :22:39.sport where you have to deliver. felt it was so exciting - the

:22:39. > :22:43.racing. Watching two drivers do this is something else. Sergio

:22:43. > :22:48.Perez was under pressure going into this grand prix. He did not have a

:22:48. > :22:54.wonderful start to the season. Jenson Button had established

:22:54. > :23:00.himself as number one. Then Sergio Perez came back with a bank. As he

:23:00. > :23:09.tries to undercut, he touched the back of the cup of Jenson Button.

:23:09. > :23:12.He said, come on, have a word! -- the car. They ran side-by-side. It

:23:12. > :23:21.Jenson Button ran him wide. This is where the relationship started to

:23:21. > :23:28.develop will start once you get a nice, Welcome to the team, Jenson

:23:28. > :23:33.Button has laid a marker saying, I want to be Team Leader. He went and

:23:33. > :23:40.showed he could do the business. That is great for McLaren and

:23:40. > :23:45.racing fans everywhere. We could not get hold of Martin Whitmarsh

:23:45. > :23:51.afterwards. It does not look likely be will see the McLarens at the

:23:51. > :23:59.front foot stuck he was talking about Williams having problems. --

:23:59. > :24:05.at the front. Clare, obviously the question on everyone's lips is, as

:24:05. > :24:10.I have asked, are you Ultra concerned? What is your view?

:24:10. > :24:16.are Williams. We like to score points. To have Nant is frustrating

:24:16. > :24:22.for everyone. -- to not have any is frustrating for everyone. We need

:24:22. > :24:28.to keep working and we will get there. I am sure you are aware that

:24:28. > :24:37.James Allison is available at the moment. Is he available?Do not

:24:37. > :24:47.play with me like that! I need to go and find him if he is available.

:24:47. > :24:51.His error the real problem with your car? -- is aero. In the mid-

:24:51. > :24:57.corner section, but guys are struggling with grip. We had a good

:24:57. > :25:07.test last week. The drivers are saying the car is better than it

:25:07. > :25:07.

:25:07. > :25:11.felt. We need to keep working on that. Can you celebrate again? We

:25:11. > :25:20.always come here wanting to win because we are Williams and that is

:25:20. > :25:25.what they want to do. It would be a good to get points. Fingers crossed.

:25:25. > :25:33.Claire making out that it is definitely the car and not the

:25:33. > :25:39.drivers. We have not really seen what Valtteri Bottas has yet?

:25:39. > :25:45.comes with some great credentials. Pastor Maldonado has matured during

:25:45. > :25:50.his career. No question they can deliver if the car is working well.

:25:50. > :25:58.Williams have a great depth of history, winning, success. They do

:25:58. > :26:02.not seem to be able to use that for future performance? When you were

:26:02. > :26:09.driving, to your fabulous of world- class standard, did you have a

:26:09. > :26:15.coach? I had a basketball coach. I did not. I tried every area to

:26:15. > :26:21.improve my performance. I am sure you did. It seems a solitary

:26:21. > :26:26.existence for Formula One drivers. With other sports, they seem to get

:26:26. > :26:32.lots of help. We are interested when a young team of drivers were

:26:32. > :26:39.going to take into the Chelsea Football Club Academy to swap

:26:39. > :26:49.stories. Let's see how they got on. This is an exchange programme with

:26:49. > :26:50.

:26:50. > :26:55.Chelsea Academy and the motor sport agency. We think it is really good

:26:55. > :27:01.that we get an insight to the other sports and vice-versa, to encourage

:27:01. > :27:07.people to come in to see what we're doing with the development of young

:27:07. > :27:13.players. In our last five, 10 years, there had been a lot of changes in

:27:13. > :27:17.training methods. All the methods used on senior players are in a

:27:17. > :27:23.academies. Intervention of science is incredible. The boys will get an

:27:24. > :27:30.insight into what the normal session is like. At Chelsea Academy,

:27:30. > :27:34.we say, if we can learn from somebody else, we will look at it.

:27:34. > :27:42.It is a fantastic place. I suppose it is all about an individual and

:27:42. > :27:45.how much he really wants it. It was very entertaining - a good

:27:45. > :27:51.experience learning different drills. The way they treat their

:27:51. > :27:57.game is similar to ourselves. They focus on every element. The whole

:27:57. > :28:02.facility is unbelievable. They have 37 football pitches. They have

:28:02. > :28:07.nutrition that massaging, medical centres. Even a swimming pool. They

:28:07. > :28:11.want to get the best out of their players. The more we go into the

:28:11. > :28:18.future, the more technical everything becomes. It is key to

:28:18. > :28:24.give drivers, footballers, whatever, the best to succeed and bring the

:28:24. > :28:30.best out of them. It is important to be in and around the right

:28:30. > :28:33.environment so you can develop your talent. The facilities here are

:28:34. > :28:41.fantastic. It is a brilliant environment to learn in and grow up

:28:41. > :28:45.and get better as a player. The technology that goes into it is

:28:45. > :28:50.fantastic. It is another dynamic added for young players, so they

:28:50. > :28:54.can look back and improve the games. Today was really about the

:28:54. > :28:59.opportunity for our drivers to understand how hard athletes in

:28:59. > :29:04.other sports work. The detail they go into, the briefing and

:29:04. > :29:09.debriefing, the analysis and reflection. Take some of that back

:29:09. > :29:13.and use it in motorsport. They put us out of our comfort zones this

:29:13. > :29:20.morning. You can see we're definitely not footballers. It is

:29:20. > :29:24.now payback time. The motor sports academy has been going for five,

:29:24. > :29:29.six years. The idea is to support the drivers, trying to help them

:29:29. > :29:33.develop the skills they need to take advantage of opportunities. We

:29:33. > :29:38.also need to learn from other sports. We need to bring in best

:29:38. > :29:43.practice that is perhaps not in our sport. There is an element of

:29:43. > :29:48.trying to be cutting edge was supporting the drivers in their

:29:48. > :29:51.aspirations. We are lucky to have four British drivers in Formula One.

:29:51. > :29:56.To have Max working with our young drivers and working with the

:29:56. > :29:59.Chelsea youth players has been really great. You always look up to

:29:59. > :30:09.the guys at the top of the sport and take inspiration from that. Max

:30:09. > :30:16.

:30:16. > :30:20.fantastic, it was interesting, playing against teenagers who were

:30:20. > :30:25.better than us! It was really enjoyable, interesting to see how

:30:25. > :30:31.they work. You got your own back when it comes to reactions. They are

:30:31. > :30:39.not used to it. Their training is different from ours, it is

:30:39. > :30:45.interesting to see a difference. you think you learned anything?

:30:45. > :30:52.learned how to take a good penalty! Simple things, different structures,

:30:52. > :30:56.different warm-ups. Basically, nothing that will help you as a

:30:56. > :31:00.racing driver? I am not saying that! What has stretching got to do

:31:00. > :31:09.with driving? Warming up, the routine of exercises can help, I

:31:09. > :31:15.suppose, in some way. You stay with it! You were in the home of the

:31:15. > :31:21.champions of Europe, Chelsea. Will you be in Amsterdam to see another

:31:21. > :31:26.glory day? I will not, unfortunately! I have got other

:31:26. > :31:31.things planned, but I will record it. He will be stretching! We do not

:31:31. > :31:40.all get free tickets like some people. We wish you luck. You want

:31:40. > :31:45.to stay here and the driving in Formula 1 next year? Yes, I am

:31:45. > :31:50.concentrating on this year, we have got some good things to be announced

:31:50. > :31:57.soon, and I am looking forward to hopefully being in the paddock.

:31:57. > :32:05.have got to move on quickly. Let's go to the commentary box. Eddie

:32:05. > :32:10.Jordan, come with me. Let's have a quick word with Bernie Ecclestone.

:32:10. > :32:18.We can have a chat with him now. Good afternoon. How are you? Very

:32:18. > :32:22.well. How do you feel as though the season is shaping up? Very good.We

:32:22. > :32:30.are going to see a piece about Russia, how is the calendar being

:32:30. > :32:39.prepared for next year? We have got 20 odd races, but I have not put a

:32:39. > :32:45.calendar together yet. If Russia What about New Jersey? At the

:32:45. > :32:52.moment, I do not know. If they both come in, we would have 21 races, so

:32:52. > :32:59.might we lose any of the European races? Probably only the British. We

:32:59. > :33:07.could lose Silverstone? Yes. We have got to lose somewhere, and as we are

:33:07. > :33:11.all British, we do not grab everything for ourselves. You are

:33:12. > :33:17.the ultimate joke maker, level with us! What are you trying to tell the

:33:17. > :33:21.public? Straighten it up! I was asked a question. You did not and to

:33:21. > :33:30.truthfully! We have been talking about losing Belgium, which one is

:33:30. > :33:36.it? Have you? Probably lose one of them. It will not be Silverstone. I

:33:36. > :33:45.am serious. You are not serious about losing Silverstone? We have

:33:45. > :33:55.straighten that one up. Thank you, Mr Jordan! While you are here, I

:33:55. > :34:02.have seen the Bernie Ecclestone of the bikes world hanging around here.

:34:02. > :34:06.Do you get together, or do they followed you? I let them know what

:34:06. > :34:14.we are doing and they work around it. When will we know about New

:34:14. > :34:19.Jersey? I should think in another couple of months. One question, he

:34:19. > :34:25.brought us to Asia, when people were not considering going to Asia, and

:34:25. > :34:33.that is one of the biggest success stories that you have had? For sure.

:34:33. > :34:43.It has been successful. Let's have a look at the case that David did with

:34:43. > :34:43.

:34:43. > :35:41.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 42 seconds

:35:41. > :35:46.Welcome to Russia, how do you feel? Thank you! I have not had a chance

:35:46. > :35:51.to see the circuit. We can drive on a part of the circuit. First

:35:51. > :35:56.impressions of the venue? It is pretty special. Once everything is

:35:56. > :36:02.finished, it will look incredible. It looks pretty quick. Let's have a

:36:02. > :36:08.drive around. I am not sure about your normal ride! That is specific

:36:08. > :36:18.to Red Bull. It is not as flexible as that in real life, is it? It is

:36:18. > :36:30.

:36:30. > :36:38.control that is the issue, being in the passenger seat. You do not know

:36:38. > :36:45.what the other guy is doing. It is amazing how it feels quicker.

:36:45. > :36:50.is going to be a nice corner. is a long corner. If that part of

:36:50. > :37:00.the circuit? That is a car park!We do not have much racetrack.

:37:00. > :37:02.

:37:02. > :37:12.much, but we have tracks. Now we are talking. This one is the second

:37:12. > :37:13.

:37:13. > :37:21.corner, opening up. It should allow us to pick up some speed. We should

:37:21. > :37:26.have stopped at that junction! Russian style! It seems that Olympic

:37:26. > :37:32.Parks are operated to the same standard as the way Bernie

:37:32. > :37:36.Ecclestone runs Formula 1. Formula 1 is immaculate. Definitely, all of

:37:36. > :37:41.the stadium and the modern architecture. I am looking forward

:37:41. > :37:46.to coming back and seeing how it looks once it is finished. Does it

:37:46. > :37:52.touch with you at all the fact that you will race in the inaugural

:37:52. > :37:59.Russian grand prix? I see it as a privilege. It is something unique.

:37:59. > :38:04.To be part of it, it is great. have got your own model of car, you

:38:04. > :38:10.have made a fine mess of this, but we are here, on the tarmac, in the

:38:10. > :38:13.middle of the Olympic Park, it is impressive. It will be great. It is

:38:13. > :38:19.hard to imagine, but this will be the long straight after the

:38:19. > :38:26.start/finish. The second corner by the ice skating venue, and beyond,

:38:26. > :38:30.what do we have? I think that one is the speed skating rink, and that is

:38:30. > :38:36.the ice hockey Stadium. That will be the football stadium for the World

:38:36. > :38:41.Cup. Mountains in the background. You cannot see the scene now.

:38:41. > :38:47.the Black Sea. The water is blue, though. Why do they call it the

:38:47. > :38:54.Black Sea? I do not know!Let us be the first to wish you good luck for

:38:54. > :39:03.the first Russian Grand Prix. Cheers.

:39:03. > :39:08.A nice piece! I want is -- I want to show you Bernie Ecclestone's bus.

:39:08. > :39:15.There seems to be an extension this year. Yes, it is a conservatory or

:39:15. > :39:19.something! It looks as if it has musky to prove nothing. It would be

:39:19. > :39:25.better for it to be bullet-proof. would not dare mention such a

:39:25. > :39:34.thing! I did not know if I could be rude, so I am glad you were next to

:39:34. > :39:39.me. He was keen to be interviewed by you! I wonder why! I am not sure!

:39:39. > :39:45.And interesting GT about Russia, it will be incredible. It does not

:39:45. > :39:51.become more clear than that. Forget New Jersey for the moment, but

:39:51. > :39:55.Russia, the whole thing, Russia is a big market, the vastness of the

:39:55. > :40:01.country, it is part of the footprint that I alluded to, Bernie Ecclestone

:40:01. > :40:08.took us to Asia, Africa, South America, he is a genius at seeing

:40:08. > :40:14.the future. He moves when the money is. That is part of being magical.

:40:14. > :40:18.If you want the business to continue. He is hugely astute, you

:40:19. > :40:24.have to admire everything he does. lot of people will be worried if we

:40:24. > :40:28.will lose Spain, Belgium, Germany. It has got a double edge to it.

:40:28. > :40:34.did say we would not lose Silverstone, and that is the most

:40:34. > :40:44.important for us! Let's have a better look at this track, David

:40:44. > :40:47.

:40:47. > :40:51.The first race back in Europe, and as a Spanish speaking country,

:40:51. > :40:57.walking past the fans, you have a big Spanish report. Does that give

:40:57. > :41:05.you an extra boost? We do not have a Mexican Grand Prix, the closest we

:41:05. > :41:12.go is Austin. It is special to be back and have good support from the

:41:12. > :41:20.people. We have stopped in the middle of the second corner. This is

:41:20. > :41:24.very interesting. It is a very big corner, the first three. You have to

:41:24. > :41:29.get the first one right, the on the right line, and the second one is

:41:29. > :41:34.the same. Once you have done the first one, you are thinking about

:41:34. > :41:41.the third one. This is one of the defining corners of the Barcelona

:41:41. > :41:47.track. You always try to be flat. It is important, the line. It is very

:41:47. > :41:57.tight on the entry and the apex, but it opens so much on the exit. It is

:41:57. > :41:58.

:41:58. > :42:02.a right-hander. It is always hard to keep it to the right. Corner nine.

:42:02. > :42:12.You do not see the except, you just see where you end up. You see

:42:12. > :42:12.

:42:12. > :42:20.nothing. You do not know where you are. Often, do see people running

:42:20. > :42:23.out. You move into a great overtaking opportunity. After

:42:23. > :42:28.Bahrain, it was a great race for you, good points, wheel to wheel

:42:28. > :42:32.with your team-mate, you have shown you have got the hunger and the

:42:32. > :42:37.drive to not just the another member of the team, you want to be the team

:42:37. > :42:46.leader. Exactly, that is my aim. I came here to win and to fight for

:42:46. > :42:53.the win. We had a mad fight. It was a bit too risky. If you see the

:42:53. > :42:59.race, you can see that we risk a lot, to take both cars out of the

:42:59. > :43:09.track. Was there any contact?Once or twice, we had some contact.

:43:09. > :43:10.

:43:10. > :43:17.much? Just this much.Do not hate me! It was just that much. But in

:43:17. > :43:21.the end, we had a nice chat with the bosses and got it clear. Now we are

:43:21. > :43:27.looking forward to fighting game, but hopefully further up the grid.

:43:27. > :43:37.We do not be want -- we do not want to fight for sixth or eighth place.

:43:37. > :43:37.

:43:37. > :43:44.It is a Mickey Mouse Park. They call these sausages. You do not go over

:43:44. > :43:50.that much, you try to go here. It is not that bad, the Kurds are not our

:43:50. > :43:55.weakest point. We should be all right. Our problem is traction. We

:43:55. > :44:03.struggle coming out of the corner. Keep smiling, enjoy, have a good

:44:03. > :44:08.weekend. There is Felipe Massa, just a couple

:44:08. > :44:12.of seconds ago, he came out, getting ready for qualifying behind us. He

:44:12. > :44:22.was fastest in the last session, what do you think his chances are of

:44:22. > :44:22.

:44:22. > :49:50.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 42 seconds

:49:50. > :49:56.under way, nobody is rushing to get out there. The clock is ticking

:49:56. > :50:02.away. The target is to get into the top 16, and then make through to the

:50:02. > :50:08.second part of qualifying. We saw them in practice, Gary Anderson is

:50:08. > :50:18.always looking at the target times. RADIO: The wind is similar to

:50:18. > :50:18.

:50:18. > :50:28.gestate afternoon -- yesterday afternoon. Similar intensity to

:50:28. > :50:35.

:50:35. > :50:40.yesterday. When you get to the first corner, you have a bit more

:50:40. > :50:45.downforce because of the headwind. The tailwind through the night

:50:45. > :50:49.corner, the quick right-hander, that is a bit more concerning, if you get

:50:49. > :50:54.a gust of wind up the back of the car. That is where you have to be

:50:54. > :51:01.careful. As far as lap times are concerned, we have not seen

:51:01. > :51:11.everybody do the real performance yet. I would be looking at 1:23 as

:51:11. > :51:11.

:51:11. > :51:56.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 42 seconds

:51:56. > :52:01.being the cut-off point for 16th as ever. A former winner of this

:52:01. > :52:08.grand prix, but he would love to add another victory. The reaction last

:52:08. > :52:12.year was superb in Valencia. It is six years since he won here. He has

:52:12. > :52:17.massive support, the only Spanish driver to have won a grand prix, and

:52:17. > :52:21.he has transformed the following. In the early days in Spain, you would

:52:21. > :52:28.have a couple of people in the grandstands, because they normally

:52:28. > :52:33.follow motorbikes, but Formula 1 has been embraced. Gary, Sauber are

:52:33. > :52:37.struggling. We have spoken about McLaren and Williams, but they were

:52:37. > :52:44.fifth on the grid last year, there is no chance of that today.

:52:44. > :52:53.really. They have gone for the more narrow side pod package. That is a

:52:53. > :52:59.drag reduction device. It is used nowadays to generate downforce. They

:52:59. > :53:04.have taken away some of the potentially... It is difficult to

:53:05. > :53:12.make work if they have not got it. And few teams have got a bit of work

:53:12. > :53:18.to do over the course of this event and the rest of the year. Tom?

:53:18. > :53:23.walking past the Williams garage, and the team were showing Pastor

:53:23. > :53:29.Maldonado a photograph of him with last year's race winning trophy, and

:53:29. > :53:39.he was shouting at this photograph to get himself wrapped up. Have you

:53:39. > :53:44.ever used methods like that, David? Know, but it answers questions. I

:53:44. > :53:47.live in the same apartment block in Monaco, and it explains the strange

:53:47. > :53:55.noises! I never needed motivation. Sebastian Vettel was listening to

:53:55. > :54:00.music. A Toro Rosso takes to the track, Daniel Ricciardo, getting out

:54:00. > :54:04.there nice and early, benefiting from the clean air. It is lovely to

:54:04. > :54:10.see the youngsters here this weekend, enjoying the sights and

:54:10. > :54:16.sounds of Formula 1. Daniel Ricciardo on the track. The boss of

:54:16. > :54:21.Ferrari here this weekend to monitor things. There is no doubt that

:54:21. > :54:26.Ferrari are in a better position this year, but a bit restricted in

:54:26. > :54:31.points, because Fernando Alonso is on 47, 30 points behind Sebastian

:54:31. > :54:40.Vettel. But that is because they have a DRS problem and the accident

:54:40. > :54:43.in Malaysia. Hindsight is wonderful. But I am sure they wish

:54:43. > :54:51.they had called him in when the front wing came off. The double

:54:51. > :54:56.failure. The message was given him -- to him that he should not use

:54:56. > :55:00.it, but he decided to give it another go, so he had to make two

:55:00. > :55:06.pitstops in the first few laps. But they hung in there with a car that

:55:06. > :55:08.was nowhere near as good as this year's. So I expect him to be

:55:08. > :55:13.battling for the championship, closing the gap down to Sebastian

:55:13. > :55:20.Vettel. We are through the first couple of corners, because working

:55:20. > :55:30.very hard, and it continues to do so. It is a great opening section,

:55:30. > :55:30.

:55:30. > :55:37.it is what makes this circuit is interesting for the drivers. We join

:55:37. > :55:43.him on number five. Then, number seven, you drop into the apex and

:55:43. > :55:51.immediately accelerate up the hill. The camera does not do this

:55:51. > :55:59.elevation change justice. RADIO: Remember to learn it all on this

:55:59. > :56:05.map. That is to do with the second I session -- to do with the

:56:05. > :56:10.synchronisation. Daniel Ricciardo continues his lap, we are into

:56:10. > :56:15.technical stuff here. Yes, the little chicane that has been added

:56:15. > :56:22.to slow the cars down. It neutered a great last section of the Barcelona

:56:22. > :56:27.circuit, but demands to improve safety, reduce the speed... How does

:56:27. > :56:32.this compare to this morning? not get a proper lap in this

:56:32. > :56:37.morning, he got held up by Lewis Hamilton, but he still went quicker,

:56:37. > :56:43.so that is not particularly fast. He is on the hard tyre, he went out on

:56:43. > :56:49.the medium tired this morning. has got a few laps of fuel in their

:56:49. > :56:53.so he will do another one two, depending on the life of the tyres.

:56:53. > :57:03.They would have built up information about what they can start to expect

:57:03. > :57:04.

:57:04. > :57:14.from the tyres this weekend. The medium tyres of white. Valtteri

:57:14. > :57:15.

:57:15. > :57:20.Bottas on the hard tyres. That is orange, I think! It is good they

:57:20. > :57:23.have gone for the slight change of colour this year. Valtteri Bottas

:57:23. > :57:29.hoping Williams have made improvements. Quite a lot of work on

:57:29. > :57:33.the steering wheel. He has got his big opportunity with a team that has

:57:33. > :57:41.won championships in the past, won a grand prix last year, but they have

:57:41. > :57:45.not started well at all. Everybody in Formula 1 follows Williams, but

:57:45. > :57:49.more often than not, they are playing catch up to the middle of

:57:49. > :57:56.the grid, rather than to the front. He has gone faster than Nico

:57:56. > :58:01.Hulkenberg, and Daniel Ricciardo. Jean-Eric Vergne is quickest. That

:58:01. > :58:11.is slightly encouraging for Williams, let's wait and see. Lots

:58:11. > :58:13.

:58:13. > :58:18.of new parts on the Williams this weekend. We will also wait to see if

:58:18. > :58:24.the top teams decide to try and get through on the hard tyres or save

:58:24. > :58:34.the hard tyres for tomorrow. On the hard tyre is Romain Grosjean, he was

:58:34. > :58:57.

:58:57. > :59:04.the fourth fastest this morning. You course of last season, he was

:59:04. > :59:09.consistent. It will be interesting to see if Romain Grosjean can

:59:09. > :59:15.deliver. Kimi Raikkonen will be first over the line. Then we will

:59:15. > :59:22.see Romain Grosjean. Kimi Raikkonen is fastest at the moment. That was

:59:22. > :59:30.a mistake. On the by no sector he made a mistake this morning. -- on

:59:30. > :59:37.the final sector. He ran it over the kerb. Kimi Raikkonen was still

:59:38. > :59:42.quickest. A bit of a tail wind coming into turned 10. It will

:59:42. > :59:50.affect drive and traction into the last turn of foot stuck I will be

:59:50. > :59:57.surprised if this is quicker. - us the last turn. That lock up will

:59:57. > :00:07.have cost him at least a 10th pull stub Fernando Alonso is coming out

:00:07. > :00:12.

:00:12. > :00:21.on the hard tyre. -- at least eight Raikkonen was doing. As he came

:00:21. > :00:27.back on to the circuit, you saw the sparking. He got very wide before

:00:27. > :00:35.entering turn three. He was already drifting wide. That was affecting

:00:35. > :00:42.his overall lap time. We will have to wait and see what everybody does.

:00:42. > :00:50.That was on a hard tyre. You would expect to see lower teams using a

:00:50. > :00:57.medium compound. Paul di Resta, last time he was tantalisingly

:00:57. > :01:03.close. He looks fired-up and confident. The car has more

:01:03. > :01:08.improvements. Not quite as quick as the Toro Rosso of Jean-Eric Vergne.

:01:08. > :01:14.A few teams have said that car is looking quick this weekend. He has

:01:14. > :01:22.proved that already on his first run. Did Paul di Resta have a lock

:01:22. > :01:27.up? As you drop down into the apex, there was an adjustment on the

:01:27. > :01:33.steering wheel which was differential. He got away with the

:01:33. > :01:39.apex. We know these tyres are fragile. Across the line goes

:01:39. > :01:44.Fernando Alonso. Kimi Raikkonen has done a good first sector and so

:01:44. > :01:51.decent middle sector. He might be getting another lapped out of these

:01:51. > :01:56.hard tyres. There was the classic line. He had more space in to turn

:01:56. > :02:03.three. Fantastic to see a change of direction. He pulled the car over

:02:03. > :02:10.to the left side of the circuit. He has gone fastest of all. That is a

:02:10. > :02:17.big chunk of time. A bit of oversteer in to turn five. Plenty

:02:17. > :02:24.of width on exit. Using all the road. The crowd is loving it. The

:02:24. > :02:34.lap time does not matter. They are giving him home support. The DRS is

:02:34. > :02:42.

:02:42. > :02:50.Hulkenberg. Filipe Massa is also half a second up. Fernando Alonso

:02:50. > :02:59.is half a second up as well. He is matching Fernando Alonso as well.

:02:59. > :03:03.Let's see what the final sector gives us. Across the line, 1:22.2

:03:03. > :03:10.on the harder compound tyre. That is similar to the lap time from

:03:10. > :03:14.this morning. That is tremendous pace from Ferrari. Lotus will be a

:03:14. > :03:19.bit surprised to have seen such a gain of speed by Ferrari. Get see

:03:19. > :03:27.what happens. They will not all be going flat out at this stage was

:03:28. > :03:34.dug normally I am not a big fan of these slow motions. -- at this

:03:35. > :03:39.stage. He hit the big, red sausage kerb. The car gets itself on the

:03:39. > :03:49.other side and he was ready to change direction. Great conference

:03:49. > :04:00.

:04:00. > :04:05.in a change of direction. -- corner. That looks slightly more

:04:05. > :04:14.standard. He runs it out to the edge. Great commitment from Nico

:04:14. > :04:20.Rosberg. This is a long, medium speed corner. The Red Bull will have

:04:20. > :04:28.taken his attention slightly. He would not have been comfortable.

:04:28. > :04:33.is on the medium compound. He is already .3 down on that sector, that

:04:33. > :04:39.was not due to the time lost because of the Red Bull. Mercedes have not

:04:39. > :04:44.looked as fast relative to the other one fine performances this year. But

:04:44. > :04:53.they are the fastest in this sector, though. He is only 0.2 down on the

:04:53. > :04:56.outright fastest time. Let's see if the third sector is impressive.

:04:56. > :05:04.Mercedes have lost performance in the races until now, Colin fired

:05:04. > :05:11.well, but not done so well in the races. Let's see whether this is

:05:11. > :05:16.good enough. Yes, he is on the softer tyre, and he does fastest. It

:05:16. > :05:20.is not quite the fastest time yet, Felipe Massa was a fraction faster

:05:20. > :05:30.this morning, but that is the fastest time of qualifying. Now,

:05:30. > :05:31.

:05:31. > :05:41.Sergio Perez. We will wait for him to get his way to the line. We just

:05:41. > :05:41.

:05:41. > :05:48.saw Nicky louder, with the chairman of the board, nodding his head. It

:05:48. > :05:54.is good for the boss to see due fastest of all at this stage.

:05:54. > :06:01.Button on board as he comes through the final corner. Sergio Perez 1.4

:06:01. > :06:10.seconds away from Nicole spoke. -- from Nico Rosberg. A shake of the

:06:10. > :06:16.head. Jenson Button on the same tyre as Sergio Perez. Sebastian Vettel

:06:16. > :06:23.going second fastest. He is on the softer tyre. Lewis Hamilton goes

:06:23. > :06:29.fastest. He is also on the softer compound. He goes 0.2 quicker than

:06:29. > :06:34.his team-mate. Mercedes are showing more pace. We wondered if they had

:06:34. > :06:40.been hiding it away. We have not seen Ferrari or voters on the softer

:06:40. > :06:46.tyre. I wonder if they will run it. We have yet to see Mark Webber

:06:46. > :06:56.establish a lap time. He is in fifth place. On board with Pastor

:06:56. > :06:57.

:06:57. > :07:01.Maldonado. RADIO: He is coming up behind. Massively held up by the

:07:01. > :07:07.Williams through the last sector, he has got to get a penalty for that.

:07:07. > :07:14.That will be looked at, that will be interesting. The steward this

:07:14. > :07:20.weekend is Alan Jones, the 1980 world champion. Tom, it is pretty

:07:20. > :07:27.active on the track. I just wanted to comment on the track temperature,

:07:27. > :07:31.it has gone up two degrees. We have got clear blue skies above. One of

:07:31. > :07:36.the guys at Pirelli said, as the track temperature warms up, the

:07:36. > :07:42.difference between the compounds will reduce. RADIO: We will use them

:07:42. > :07:48.again. At one point yesterday, it looked like the difference was 0.5

:07:48. > :07:55.seconds, but it might be as little as 0.3 seconds. Esteban Gutierrez

:07:55. > :08:03.crosses the line. Who will be in the top 16? We are missing Valtteri

:08:03. > :08:10.Bottas, Mikko Holcombe Berg, Charles Peek, Jules Bianchi, Giedo van der

:08:10. > :08:17.Garde and Max Chilton. Nico Hulkenberg desperately trying to

:08:17. > :08:24.move himself out of the drop zone. All that matters is getting into the

:08:24. > :08:28.top 16 at this stage. Paul di Resta has some work to do, Adrian Sutil is

:08:28. > :08:33.currently in 11th place. They go Holcombe Berg has been struggling

:08:33. > :08:43.with a car that has not responded the way he wanted -- Nico

:08:43. > :08:44.

:08:44. > :08:50.Hulkenberg. It is not looking like a great lap so far. Another 0.3 down

:08:50. > :08:56.in the second sector, so he will be around one second off the fastest.

:08:56. > :09:03.He will be in the top ten with that. We will wait and see. Is this going

:09:03. > :09:09.to be enough for Nico Hulkenberg to make it through to Q2? He is up to

:09:10. > :09:16.ninth place. Paul di Resta is safely through. Kimi Raikkonen is on a

:09:16. > :09:23.quick lap. The fastest in the first two sectors, and he is on the harder

:09:23. > :09:26.tyre. That is interesting. He has not gone for the softer tyre.

:09:26. > :09:36.Traffic on the last sector, that is ridiculous. Is that Esteban

:09:36. > :09:40.Gutierrez? He was having a siesta. Still a better lap than he had done

:09:41. > :09:46.until that stage, he is safely through, and he has done it on the

:09:46. > :09:49.hard tyre. Red Bull seem to be saving their hard tyres for

:09:50. > :09:53.tomorrow, because Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber will run the medium

:09:53. > :10:00.tyres again in the second part of qualifying. Different tactics from

:10:01. > :10:05.some. Valtteri Bottas is definitely out, the chequered flag is out, and

:10:05. > :10:09.one of the Williams is not through to the second part of qualifying.

:10:09. > :10:16.The Sauber was trying to keep a gap to the car in front, but you cannot

:10:16. > :10:19.obstruct another car. That is fairly straightforward, he will get a

:10:19. > :10:24.penalty afterwards. Esteban Gutierrez is currently in 16th

:10:24. > :10:30.place, but he will get a penalty. Let's see if anybody else manages to

:10:30. > :10:35.pick him, as he is the one to be pushed down. Both Williams are not

:10:35. > :10:40.through at this stage. They have both seen the chequered flag.

:10:40. > :10:46.Esteban Gutierrez will hold on to 16th place, so who will win the

:10:46. > :10:54.battle of caterer and Russia? Jules Bianchi is ahead of Charles Peek.

:10:54. > :11:04.Max Chilton about to cross the line. Giedo van der Garde goes faster than

:11:04. > :11:06.

:11:06. > :11:12.all of them, well done to him. He has beaten his team-mate. RADIO: You

:11:12. > :11:18.are in 17th at the moment. Giedo van der Garde will be well pleased with

:11:18. > :11:24.his performance there. Getting ahead of all of the others. He knows this

:11:24. > :11:29.track, but the headline story is that Williams have failed with both

:11:29. > :11:34.cars to get into Q2, they have not managed to get both cars into Q2 at

:11:34. > :11:40.any session this year, but this time, they have failed with both.

:11:40. > :11:43.They have usually had one of them in there, but neither of them. It is so

:11:44. > :11:50.disappointing, when they have had the updates on the car, and the

:11:50. > :11:56.drivers have been it -- reporting improvements. Esteban Gutierrez will

:11:56. > :12:05.end up with a penalty after this. will be interesting to see if Kimi

:12:05. > :12:15.Raikkonen complains. Jenson Button was complaining. The two Williams

:12:15. > :12:26.

:12:26. > :12:31.quite if you drive is getting in people's way. That is poor driving.

:12:32. > :12:38.Kimi Raikkonen was on a fast lap, there is no excuse. David has spoken

:12:38. > :12:45.about it, but he will get a penalty, so it is a good day for Valtteri

:12:45. > :12:52.Bottas, because one of the Williams will get in there. This is coming up

:12:53. > :12:57.behind Pastor Maldonado, the Jenson Button. Just coming towards the end.

:12:57. > :13:02.He has been warned previously for this. Coming to the end of the lap,

:13:02. > :13:12.he gets on his way, he complains. When they are complaining on the

:13:12. > :13:14.

:13:14. > :13:18.radio, they know it will go to race control. Kimi Raikkonen had a harder

:13:18. > :13:22.time with Esteban Gutierrez, but Jenson Button, perhaps it is a sign

:13:22. > :13:32.of the old head, he wants it to be recognised that he should have been

:13:32. > :13:48.

:13:48. > :13:54.Both your cars are out. Describe your feelings? It is not why we

:13:54. > :13:59.come racing. The boys are going to work really hard. We need to

:13:59. > :14:06.improve. These updates have not worked. Are there more fundamental

:14:06. > :14:11.problems that need sorting out? Is it a personal issue? That is not a

:14:11. > :14:17.question for racing. It is a question for the factory. You never

:14:17. > :14:24.panic in these kinds of situations. Formula One is so close - it is so

:14:24. > :14:28.tight. That is what it is like in Formula One. No case for panicking.

:14:28. > :14:34.Pastor Maldonado was holding up Jenson Button. What real thoughts?

:14:34. > :14:40.I did not see it. Jenson Button was quite vocal about it. We will wait

:14:40. > :14:46.and see what happens afterwards. Claire Williams was quite calm.

:14:46. > :14:53.Their right not to panic. However, they are in a tangle, aren't they?

:14:53. > :14:58.-- they are right. She is doing a brilliant job. She has taken over

:14:58. > :15:04.from a legendary father. The whole team - there is no greater team in

:15:04. > :15:09.terms of the support it has - in terms of history. She has a big

:15:09. > :15:19.task. It is a huge job for her to turn it around. She has all the

:15:19. > :15:20.

:15:20. > :15:28.ability and she will get there. Let's have a look at the Kimi --

:15:28. > :15:36.Kimi Raikkonen incident. This was absolutely blatant. Kimi Raikkonen

:15:36. > :15:41.keeps his cool. He does not yelp on the intercom to his team. He gets

:15:41. > :15:47.on and qualifies. He is ultra confident. He has a very good car

:15:47. > :15:57.under him. I just asked who they thought it was going to be.

:16:13. > :16:23.see whether they will be smiling at the end of this session. That is

:29:18. > :29:21.

:29:21. > :29:28.Jean-Eric Vergne is in the top 10. There are two McLarens and two

:29:28. > :29:32.Force Indias just outside. There is a big gap in towns between Romain

:29:32. > :29:41.Grosjean and Nico Hulkenberg. The top five maybe saved but beyond

:29:41. > :29:48.that, it is anybody's guess. -- may be safe. Sebastian Vettel is not

:29:48. > :29:54.fast enough. Less than a 10th minute. That has been the weak

:29:54. > :30:00.section on the track. Mark Webber seems to be the king of the last

:30:00. > :30:07.septet in his ability to thread through those big kerbs at the

:30:08. > :30:15.chicane. -- last sector. It is slightly down on the best overall

:30:15. > :30:22.time. Maybe he can pull that back a little bit. Sebastian Vettel to get

:30:22. > :30:32.into the top 10. He goes fastest. A fraction faster than a Fernando

:30:32. > :30:40.

:30:40. > :30:47.Alonso. Mark Webber is trying to do this sector. Last year, he missed

:30:47. > :30:51.out on Q3. This time, he has gone fourth quickest. You would think

:30:51. > :30:58.that should be safe enough for him to get into the top ten, but it will

:30:58. > :31:02.be competitive. The clock is ticking away. Esteban Gutierrez down to

:31:02. > :31:08.10th, as he tries to get into the top ten for the first time. Nico

:31:08. > :31:18.Hulkenberg is still in there, just. We are waiting to see improvements

:31:18. > :31:18.

:31:18. > :31:21.from Force India. Lewis Hamilton is on the cusp. He is out on the track.

:31:21. > :31:29.The first sector for Jean-Eric Vergne and Paul di Resta, exactly

:31:29. > :31:34.the same. That is how competitive it is. Let's see what the time is like

:31:34. > :31:42.for Esteban Gutierrez. He just holds on in 10th place, I think that could

:31:42. > :31:50.be under threat from Force India. Yes, Paul di Resta goes eighth,

:31:50. > :31:54.pushing Esteban Gutierrez down. Now, Toro Rosso. Daniel Ricciardo, not

:31:54. > :32:01.exactly safe, but much quicker than Nico Hulkenberg. Lewis Hamilton has

:32:01. > :32:07.been pushed down, so he needs a decent lap. Can Jean-Eric Vergne

:32:07. > :32:11.outqualified his team-mate? Not quite, but look how close they are.

:32:11. > :32:17.Adrian Sutil fails to get into the top ten, it is a blow for force in

:32:17. > :32:24.the. Nico Hulkenberg cannot quite do it. Adrian Sutil will be

:32:24. > :32:31.disappointed. You would expect Lewis Hamilton to make it through, yes, he

:32:31. > :32:36.has gone fastest, right over 0.6 seconds. Mercedes were hiding their

:32:36. > :32:43.pace this morning, and he has gone quick. What about McLaren? Jenson

:32:43. > :32:49.Button is 14th, Sergio Perez is currently seventh, so Sergio Perez

:32:49. > :32:56.has pushed Daniel Ricciardo out of the top ten. Jenson Button is down

:32:56. > :33:02.in 14th place. This is coming into the last chicane. He locks up into

:33:02. > :33:09.the turn. It is unlikely all of the time lost was in that last sector

:33:09. > :33:17.alone. That is a story, there seems to have been an improvement from

:33:17. > :33:20.McLaren to a certain extent. RADIO: We are 14th. It is the first time

:33:20. > :33:27.this year that Jenson Button has failed to get into the top ten. For

:33:27. > :33:33.Sergio Perez, only the second time he has achieved it, and the first

:33:33. > :33:41.time he has beaten Jenson Button in qualifying. Perhaps after the

:33:41. > :33:50.psychological boost of Bahrain. great performance. He has taken away

:33:50. > :33:54.Lewis Hamilton's impressive lap, but where did that come from? It was an

:33:54. > :33:59.amazing lap, and perhaps Mercedes are on for a hat-trick of pole

:33:59. > :34:06.positions. Daniel Ricciardo knocked out in the last moment. Both Toro

:34:06. > :34:13.Rosso cars knocked out. Disappointing for Adrian Sutil. Paul

:34:13. > :34:16.di Resta did well. Both of the Sauber cars are out.

:34:16. > :34:22.Not too much of a surprise about Sauber, but a big surprise with

:34:22. > :34:27.McLaren. Sergio Perez in, Jenson Button out. We are none the wiser,

:34:27. > :34:34.we are told that are good improvements, but Jenson Button has

:34:35. > :34:40.not made the cut. It is ridiculous. I do not quite understand the gap.

:34:40. > :34:45.He thought he would struggle to make Q1, he has said that all weekend,

:34:45. > :34:47.but you would not have expected Sergio Perez to go faster. Your

:34:47. > :34:53.first competitor is your team-mate, then you think about the other

:34:53. > :34:57.people. At the moment, Sergio Perez has demonstrated he has the fight

:34:57. > :35:03.and commitment to drag the car further up the field. Jenson Button

:35:03. > :35:09.needs to catch up. In Q1, Pastor Maldonado was out of that session.

:35:09. > :35:14.We can hear from him now. What a difference a year makes, you

:35:14. > :35:19.started at the front of the grid, but now you are out in Q1. This is

:35:19. > :35:26.Formula 1. A difficult time to Williams at the moment. We have been

:35:26. > :35:36.working very hard, but we are a bit too lost at the moment in terms of

:35:36. > :35:43.performance. The car is nowhere, it is very difficult to get 100% of the

:35:43. > :35:46.potential that we saw last year. It will be a very tough race, so we

:35:46. > :35:54.will see tomorrow what we can do. But it will be tough.

:35:54. > :35:58.Yes. We have spoken about Williams, let's move on to Force India. Paul

:35:58. > :36:04.di Resta seems like he is really on form at the moment. His fourth place

:36:04. > :36:09.in the last race has such an impact. He is full of confidence, he is

:36:10. > :36:15.buzzing about, he has had a commercial deal, that helps the

:36:15. > :36:21.drivers feel confident, and he is on top of his game. News about a Felipe

:36:21. > :36:30.Massa/Mark Webber incident. What is going on? We are on board with Mark

:36:30. > :36:34.Webber. You would have to say it would need to be looked at by the

:36:34. > :36:39.stewards, because there seems to be a bit of slowing down. What's Felipe

:36:39. > :36:45.Massa keeping up his pace? But he is on the inside of the track. It is

:36:46. > :36:49.one for the stewards. We will let you know what happens. Let's go back

:36:49. > :36:55.to another driver that is out of Q1, Max Chilton.

:36:55. > :37:03.Tell us about qualifying. I am quite encouraged, only a little bit of

:37:03. > :37:07.Jules Bianchi. I came out just behind the Caterham cars. But I felt

:37:07. > :37:13.the consequences of that later in the final sector. I just lost a bit

:37:13. > :37:19.of time, and that is the difference. I am encouraged, and I am looking

:37:19. > :37:22.forward to the race tomorrow. Commentary box, I wonder what you

:37:22. > :37:27.thought of that incident with Mark Webber? What's Felipe Massa slowing

:37:27. > :37:33.down? Unquestionably. That is the most

:37:34. > :37:38.clear-cut of all of the incidents. Felipe Massa clearly did not get the

:37:38. > :37:43.information that Mark Webber was coming. It is nothing malicious, it

:37:43. > :37:49.is just a mistake, but if you hold up a car that is on a timed lap, the

:37:49. > :37:54.stewards will give a penalty. Thank you. We had a chat about pole

:37:54. > :38:03.position, who we felt was going to take it, and I threw Lewis Hamilton

:38:03. > :38:08.in the mix. That was a cracker. touched everybody by surprise. In

:38:09. > :38:14.Mercedes, the boss is here, and the arch protector of all of the people,

:38:14. > :38:18.he knows how to win and bring the car to pole position. Do not be

:38:18. > :38:22.surprised to see Lewis Hamilton there. We have seen it for the last

:38:22. > :38:29.two races, they are great in qualifying but they struggle in the

:38:29. > :38:35.race. But give cannot write them off, North Red Bull. Most people's

:38:35. > :38:38.favourite is Fernando Alonso. Over a long distance, the Ferrari has a

:38:38. > :38:44.very strong performance, and I expect them to be in it at the end

:38:44. > :38:50.of the race. Here we go, here is Q1, the shootout.

:38:50. > :38:55.The tension is building here. Fernando Alonso has the support of

:38:55. > :38:59.the massed ranks of Ferrari fans, but pace out of nowhere from Lewis

:38:59. > :39:06.Hamilton, tremendous pace, and it was the final sector that he really

:39:06. > :39:09.seemed to gain. Nico Rosberg was also quick, but Lewis Hamilton was

:39:10. > :39:16.blinding. An incredible performance, it is difficult to imagine what they

:39:16. > :39:20.could have been holding back. The cars are working well at those

:39:20. > :39:27.speeds, we were talking about how that bodes well for Monte Carlo, I

:39:27. > :39:33.have always felt you get a good indication in the final sector. The

:39:33. > :39:36.big question, can they convert that into a front row or a good

:39:36. > :39:44.qualifying position? Can they hold on in the race, that is another

:39:44. > :39:49.story will stop a lot of tyre degradation. Gary, we were impressed

:39:49. > :39:55.by that lap time of Lewis Hamilton's, a big chunk faster than

:39:55. > :40:01.anybody else, what your thoughts? mega lap. If you get through corner

:40:01. > :40:08.free, then you have the confidence and the bike in the car, just that

:40:08. > :40:11.long corner, once you get to number four, it is another right-hander, so

:40:11. > :40:16.if they had the balance to get through there, that is what they

:40:16. > :40:25.had. Last year, he was flying in McLaren, but he had the time taken

:40:25. > :40:29.away from him. He was fastest by half a second, one though he has not

:40:29. > :40:34.had a pole position here. Today might be the day. Mark Webber has

:40:34. > :40:41.had a couple, Sebastian Vettel has never really shone around this track

:40:41. > :40:48.in qualifying. The Ferrari fans, loyal to the brand. In terms of the

:40:48. > :40:52.lap times, watching Kimi Raikkonen on his first run, it looks like he

:40:52. > :40:58.is on a brand-new set of the medium tyres. What did you predict we could

:40:58. > :41:03.see for pole position? Before the session, I thought 21.2, and it

:41:03. > :41:10.still might be, but if Lewis Hamilton can hang another one, he

:41:10. > :41:17.will be into the 20s. Do not count out Nico Rosberg, he was on the used

:41:17. > :41:22.medium tyres and he went faster on them. That was 0.2 quicker than on

:41:22. > :41:28.the brand-new tyres. A Mercedes front row is not out of the

:41:28. > :41:34.question. That would be something. R: The temperatures have sorted

:41:34. > :41:41.themselves out now, ten left front, 11 right front, and eight on the

:41:41. > :41:49.rears. The last team to get an all front row here was the origins of

:41:49. > :41:55.that team, in 2009, they have the front row. Let's see if Mercedes can

:41:55. > :42:03.achieve that. We can see performance from Ferrari and Lotus. A lock-up

:42:03. > :42:11.from Kimi Raikkonen. Let's watch the Lotus through here, it looks

:42:11. > :42:17.balanced and tidy. A big commitment from the Iceman. A late shift down

:42:17. > :42:24.in the middle of the corner. I would not have thought that would be his

:42:25. > :42:32.normal tactic. That cost him anything? He is just a bit airway of

:42:32. > :42:37.the fastest of all of the sect has from these qualifying sections.

:42:37. > :42:40.have seen him on the front row once this year, can he do that on this

:42:40. > :42:47.occasion? He has not made pole position since his return to Formula

:42:47. > :42:55.1. He has done so here in the past for McLaren and Ferrari. He is syrup

:42:55. > :43:00.or five seconds down on what Lewis Hamilton did in Q2. His final sector

:43:00. > :43:05.not quite as impressive as Lewis Hamilton's earlier. Mercedes have

:43:05. > :43:12.found something in the last qualifying section. Let's see if

:43:12. > :43:22.they can unleash it again. RADIO: Police box this lap, look after the

:43:22. > :43:24.

:43:24. > :43:32.tyres on the in lap. He is up on the time. He is up on Nico Rosberg, or

:43:32. > :43:38.Kimi Raikkonen's time. There you are, Gary was spot on, Nico Rosberg

:43:39. > :43:46.had performance in hand, he is the first into 1:20. Here is the

:43:46. > :43:49.response from Fernando Alonso. He is slower than Mercedes. Suddenly,

:43:49. > :43:57.Mercedes are looking very good for a hat-trick of pole positions will

:43:57. > :44:02.stop will it be Nico Rosberg or Lewis Hamilton? Romain Grosjean has

:44:02. > :44:08.been very fast in the first sector, but he does not sustain the pace. He

:44:08. > :44:13.is losing a lot in the final sector. What can they be doing to gain so

:44:13. > :44:17.much performance in the last sector? There has been talk about

:44:18. > :44:27.the hydraulic link between the front and rear suspension. Something is

:44:28. > :44:45.

:44:45. > :44:54.final sector last year. Filipe than Kimi Raikkonen bond the

:44:54. > :45:04.initial round. -- on the initial round. The team is very happy with

:45:04. > :45:05.

:45:05. > :45:09.that. They're just separated by a few hundredths of a second. This is

:45:09. > :45:15.for the 5th round of the World Championship. Mercedes is on top at

:45:15. > :45:22.the moment. We're still waiting for Lewis Hamilton to do a lap. Mark

:45:22. > :45:28.Webber is a double winner in the past. Can he get Red Bull back up

:45:28. > :45:32.there? They are the leaders in the Constructors' Championship at the

:45:32. > :45:37.moment. Mercedes have been fast in qualifying in the last couple of

:45:37. > :45:43.events and have not shown the race pace. They have put in a huge

:45:43. > :45:50.amount of effort to improve on that. Only the drivers will know if they

:45:50. > :45:55.think they have enough in hand. If they do not, there is nothing more

:45:55. > :46:03.depressing than trying to attack a time which seems beyond your

:46:03. > :46:07.balance or the cart is capable of giving you on the a day. -- the car.

:46:07. > :46:13.Sebastian Vettel has been on the front row at a couple of times in

:46:13. > :46:20.the past. He was 7th on the grid here last year. They did not have a

:46:20. > :46:28.particularly good weekend. They had to change the front wing structures.

:46:28. > :46:35.The Engineer of Kimi Raikkonen is rehearsing to be a lollipop man!

:46:35. > :46:41.The track is completely empty. Not for much longer. Sebastian Vettel

:46:41. > :46:47.is on a brand new set of the median compound tyre. It looks like Kimi

:46:47. > :46:55.Raikkonen will go out as well. He does indeed. We are getting ready

:46:55. > :47:01.for the shoot-out. Both have Renault engines. Who will end up

:47:02. > :47:07.with the pole position? In terms of engine power on this circuit,

:47:07. > :47:17.Renault are top dog. They have had nine pole positions, compared with

:47:17. > :47:19.

:47:19. > :47:27.seven for Ferrari and four for Mercedes. That could change today.

:47:27. > :47:37.Just a few litres of fuel on board. Enough to complete a casual out

:47:37. > :47:39.

:47:39. > :47:47.apples dub look at that! -- alt lap. They will have to play around a bit.

:47:47. > :47:54.With these tyres, you do not need to drive hard out laps. The main

:47:54. > :48:01.concern is radiating heat into the brakes. There will be residual heat.

:48:01. > :48:05.That will pull off. There will be a light touch in the cockpit. It

:48:05. > :48:15.shows when they are at the correct temperature will start you do not

:48:15. > :48:20.

:48:20. > :48:25.want to beat on cold brakes. -- temperature. All 10 cars are out on

:48:25. > :48:31.track now. We will start with Sebastian Vettel. We are riding on

:48:31. > :48:40.board with him. Down towards turn one, we will listen into his

:48:40. > :48:47.throttle action. Up that is a shame. I wanted to see if he was truly

:48:47. > :48:55.flat on that transition. It looked lovely none the less. It it looked

:48:55. > :49:01.tidy and accurate. -- it looked tidy and accurate. Kimi Raikkonen

:49:01. > :49:07.is even quicker. It is the final sector where Mercedes is so strong.

:49:07. > :49:15.We have not seen that response from Lotus or Red Bull. Let's ride with

:49:15. > :49:21.Kimi Raikkonen now. Let us listen in nine. Very late shift in the

:49:21. > :49:26.middle of the corner. That is his style. He is coming down to the

:49:26. > :49:32.second checkpoint. It is all about the final sector of the lap.

:49:32. > :49:37.Sebastian Vettel is not quite as quick. If he can string all three

:49:37. > :49:46.sectors together, maybe he can still challenge up front. Red Bull

:49:46. > :49:54.will challenge to get pole position. He has had two pole positions here

:49:54. > :50:00.already -- already this year. He goes third. We wait for Keke

:50:00. > :50:05.Rosberg to come through. Lewis Hamilton also on track. He is not

:50:05. > :50:15.up on his intermediate time. A not great in the first and second

:50:15. > :50:23.sector. He is damp a 10th in each one. -- he is down. Let's see what

:50:23. > :50:29.the lap time is like. That is the fastest. Could Nico Rosberg be on

:50:29. > :50:34.for back to back pole positions? Lewis Hamilton goes second fastest.

:50:34. > :50:39.Fernando Alonso is on a lap. I do not think it will be enough to

:50:39. > :50:46.challenge for the front row of the grid. Filipe Massa has just gone

:50:46. > :50:53.quick in the middle sector. That has to be disappointing for

:50:53. > :51:00.Fernando Alonso. Filipe Massa there is one thousandth slower than

:51:00. > :51:06.Fernando Alonso. Paul di Resta air goes to 10th. Mercedes has claimed

:51:06. > :51:11.a hat-trick of pole positions. They have taken the entire front row in

:51:11. > :51:14.front of the boss was it looks like they had been working their

:51:14. > :51:20.strategy of concentrating on where they have been struggling this year

:51:20. > :51:29.on brace pace. They have trained the fuel and gone out and taken

:51:29. > :51:39.pole position. -- race pace. order, the South, Sebastian Vettel,

:51:39. > :51:45.

:51:45. > :51:51.Lewis Hamilton, Sergio Perez and Paul di Resta. Well done! The last

:51:51. > :51:56.two with Bahrain and now here in Barcelona, he has delivered the

:51:56. > :52:04.stuck Lewis Hamilton will line up on the front row of the grade. --

:52:04. > :52:09.he has delivered. It has been done quite a few times here in history.

:52:09. > :52:14.Statistics say, if you start up front on the Spanish Grand Prix

:52:14. > :52:18.circuit, you have a huge chance of winning the race. Michael

:52:18. > :52:22.Schumacher won it from third. It is one of the only times it has been

:52:23. > :52:26.won from anywhere other than the front row. Mercedes is in

:52:26. > :52:32.tremendous shape going into tomorrow's Grand Prix. It is Nico

:52:32. > :52:37.Rosberg who has delivered his third career pole. He has never qualified

:52:37. > :52:45.in the top five before but he has delivered the 12th pole position

:52:45. > :52:51.for Mercedes as a construct her and to have delivered the hat-trick as

:52:51. > :52:58.well. This team has made a huge leap forward. That was a great

:52:58. > :53:04.performance. Assured in the middle and last part of qualifying. He is

:53:04. > :53:11.taking his time to get out and release himself. Sebastian Vettel,

:53:11. > :53:21.and there is a steady. He is looking at the times. He is third

:53:21. > :53:24.

:53:24. > :53:32.was a Kimi Raikkonen was in 4th place. -- he is third. Suddenly

:53:32. > :53:37.Fernando Alonso is in 5th. Romain Grosjean is in 7th. Still a good

:53:37. > :53:42.effort from Sergio Perez. Maybe the McLaren updates have worked a bit

:53:42. > :53:50.because Sergio Perez has managed to acquire by the force India. Stories

:53:50. > :53:54.all the way down the top 10. These two guys with team-mates when they

:53:54. > :54:02.were cutting in their teenage years. They have delivered the front row

:54:02. > :54:08.for the first time for Mercedes in the modern era. Fernando Alonso is

:54:08. > :54:15.not too sad. Still a waif for the crowd. The record books strongly

:54:15. > :54:25.favour a win from the front row at the Catalunya circuit. The racing

:54:25. > :54:25.

:54:25. > :54:32.in 2013 has been far from A sensational qualifying session.

:54:32. > :54:39.We can grab a quick word with Nicky ladder. A great days so far.

:54:39. > :54:48.cannot complain. Lewis Hamilton did it already pulls up to have both

:54:48. > :54:55.cars there, thank you to the teams and the drivers. Have a nice day!

:54:55. > :55:02.The last time this was achieved was no less man then your own designer.

:55:02. > :55:12.Can you actually pull of the win here tomorrow? We will do our best.

:55:12. > :55:13.

:55:13. > :55:19.Let's wait and see it. Thank you. He is in trouble. You are in

:55:19. > :55:27.trouble. Let's hear from Ross Brawn. Huge congratulations and in front

:55:27. > :55:35.of the boss as well. We have not always given the boss a lot to

:55:35. > :55:41.smile about. It is just qualifying. The big event is tomorrow. Tomorrow

:55:41. > :55:45.is what counts. Some people have been surprised by the pace of the

:55:45. > :55:50.car, particularly through sector three. You never know what others

:55:50. > :55:57.are running. This weekend, we have been having to focus on Ray's work

:55:57. > :56:04.because that is where we have been poor. We did a lot of work on fuel.

:56:04. > :56:11.Our drivers are using the tyres very intelligently. Not pushing too

:56:11. > :56:20.hard in sector one. Are you confident you had better tyre wear

:56:20. > :56:26.than in Bahrain? Not entirely. The when not on top of it as much as we

:56:26. > :56:32.work in the qualifying. -- we were not. Tomorrow it is what counts.

:56:32. > :56:39.you think you can win? I do not know. Some teams are in better

:56:39. > :56:43.shape on fuel. Maybe we have made enough progress overnight. Ross

:56:43. > :56:48.said it, they are great in qualifying but they are still

:56:48. > :56:54.struggling a little with race pace. They thought of us a bit today and

:56:54. > :56:58.maybe they are fooling us tomorrow. We must not underestimate what

:56:58. > :57:06.Lewis Hamilton has brought to this team. We can see how McLaren is

:57:06. > :57:14.struggling as a result of losing him. They up on the front rows. We

:57:14. > :57:19.know that 20 of the 22 races have been won from the front row. Let's

:57:19. > :57:27.hear now from a very disappointed Jenson Button. The first time this

:57:27. > :57:34.season you have not managed to fight it out. Tell us how you are

:57:34. > :57:43.feeling. From where we are, the card did not feel too bad in the

:57:43. > :57:49.first qualification. -- de car. It felt right. In the second, I did

:57:50. > :57:56.not have the grip on my last run. We are having a look at it now as

:57:56. > :58:01.to whether the pressures were set correctly. Maybe they were. Are you

:58:01. > :58:05.surprised that Sergio Perez is still out there fighting? I am.

:58:05. > :58:14.Compared with what I had been balance and pace. They did

:58:14. > :58:19.everything right. Let's have a quick look at the lap of Jenson

:58:19. > :58:29.Button and go to the commentary box. Can you take us through and tell us

:58:29. > :58:35.

:58:35. > :58:45.what is going on with Jenson He had to open the steering in the

:58:45. > :58:52.middle of the corner. No big event which would confirm what Jenson

:58:52. > :58:58.Button was saying about the car feeling not too bad. Again, no

:58:58. > :59:04.mistake so far up on this lap. Throwing it down into Turn seven at

:59:04. > :59:08.100 miles an hour through the apex. Let's listen as he goes into nine.

:59:08. > :59:16.The contrast between turn three, it looked like he had a bit of

:59:16. > :59:20.understeer. That late shift down into first gear we get so used to

:59:20. > :59:26.hearing now as they try to energise the floor as much as possible. A

:59:26. > :59:32.lot of steering into turn 12. This is where Mercedes has been so

:59:32. > :59:38.mighty this afternoon. Not pretty at low speed. It confirms what

:59:38. > :59:43.Sergio Perez was saying. They are struggling for traction. He did not

:59:43. > :59:53.seem at all confident as he bounced his wake over the kerbs. No big

:59:53. > :59:59.

:59:59. > :00:04.mistake on that lap. Sergio Perez is the new man coming at McLaren.

:00:04. > :00:11.Jenson Button needs to up his game. Behind the scenes, there is no doubt

:00:11. > :00:17.there is a people in the management and board level. It filters down to

:00:17. > :00:21.the people, they do not feel comfortable. Until they get cohesion

:00:21. > :00:27.and get everybody pulling together, which they are not doing now, and it

:00:27. > :00:33.might take somebody strong, but it needs to have one direction, and it

:00:33. > :00:37.needs to happen quickly. You are talking about the structure. We talk

:00:37. > :00:44.about the car and drivers, but it is a bigger goblin? You have got

:00:44. > :00:49.diversification, you have got an automotive, it is a problem. McLaren

:00:49. > :00:56.never had this when they were going forward under Ron Dennis. Hugely

:00:56. > :01:01.successful, what has happened? I do not like a couple of key points.

:01:01. > :01:11.It has been a huge workload from the team this weekend, one car in Q3,

:01:11. > :01:18.what did you think? Firstly, in Q2, they did a fantastic job, a really

:01:18. > :01:23.good run. We could have been tactical in Q3 and kept some new

:01:23. > :01:33.tyres for the race, but he was driving so well, we thought we would

:01:33. > :01:33.

:01:34. > :01:41.go for it. In Q3, he was 0.2 up at halfway, but he lost time at the end

:01:41. > :01:47.of the lap. Given that our car is not quick enough, you would applaud

:01:47. > :01:50.him what a great job he did. Disappointing for Jenson Button. We

:01:50. > :01:58.have not looked at the data, but his tyre pressure might have on too

:01:59. > :02:03.high. Hopefully, he would have gone through as well. We are fighting to

:02:03. > :02:09.get through to Q3, it is not where we want to be. We have got to work

:02:09. > :02:15.hard, we have been working hard, but we have got to carry on to get up to

:02:15. > :02:19.the competitive levels we expect. Lots of hard work for lots of teams.

:02:19. > :02:27.A quick prediction for tomorrow? Everybody would like to see what is

:02:27. > :02:32.happening at Mercedes. They are both great. We are not going to have time

:02:32. > :02:38.to go to the press conference in this show, but you can catch up with

:02:38. > :02:48.the reactions and interviews online. Don't forget, following us,

:02:48. > :03:06.
