:00:09. > :00:16.Previously on a Formula One... My goodness! OK, Felipe, Valtteri is
:00:17. > :00:19.faster than you. Lewis Hamilton wins in Malaysian! This is Formula One,
:00:20. > :01:33.race 3: Bahrain. It has been a decade since F1 came
:01:34. > :01:36.racing in the desert. The crowd in Bahrain have seen Formula One for
:01:37. > :01:41.the first time. Judging by the noise, they like what they see! The
:01:42. > :01:48.demand is of extreme temperature and dusty track have always been a test.
:01:49. > :01:52.This year, something different. As the sun goes down, so willed
:01:53. > :01:56.advisors. This desert race will play out under lights. -- so will the
:01:57. > :02:08.visors. Mercedes have dominated this
:02:09. > :02:13.season's first two races. Nico Rosberg wins the Australian Grand
:02:14. > :02:17.Prix! Lewis Hamilton wins in Malaysia for Mercedes! But there is
:02:18. > :02:22.nothing predictable in the new look Formula One. The engine is not
:02:23. > :02:27.running smoothly. Does he have a problem? Success has always deserted
:02:28. > :02:34.Lewis and Nico here, but it is not the same story for their main rival.
:02:35. > :02:40.Yes, baby! Sebastian Vettel wins in Bahrain, back-to-back victories here
:02:41. > :02:44.at the Sakhir circuit. Will the spotlight stay on Mercedes, or will
:02:45. > :02:50.the rest come out of the shadows? It is lights on and away we go!
:02:51. > :02:56.Hello and thanks for joining us for highlights of the tenth Bahrain
:02:57. > :03:01.Grand Prix. Excuse the voice, a little croaky today, David will be
:03:02. > :03:04.doing more of the talking! This marks a decade of racing and the
:03:05. > :03:08.fact that we are racing and lights, but it is a landmark for Jenson
:03:09. > :03:13.Button. He is celebrating his 250th Grand Prix, a long time since the
:03:14. > :03:20.young 19-year-old started in Melbourne, and all the teams will be
:03:21. > :03:25.wearing this in celebration of that. This rather swanky looking T-shirt.
:03:26. > :03:30.It is no mean feat, only four other drivers have started more. It shows
:03:31. > :03:34.the skill set that he has had behind the wheel, he understands it so much
:03:35. > :03:37.more than just being a fast racing driver, truly professional in
:03:38. > :03:41.preparation, working with sponsors and the media. He is not looking
:03:42. > :03:46.close to the end at all, he is still a young guy, 34, so a huge day for
:03:47. > :03:51.him, fantastic to see the whole paddock celebrating. A great track
:03:52. > :03:55.to celebrate, the drivers seem to enjoy racing here, under lights not
:03:56. > :04:01.much difference for them? It is a great track for him, he won in 2009.
:04:02. > :04:07.Drivers tend to join the dots when they are driving, braking, apex,
:04:08. > :04:10.throttle, and there are enough floodlights for them to enjoy the
:04:11. > :04:14.race track, they are not enjoying the sunset or the stars above. In
:04:15. > :04:18.terms of driving under lights, it makes it easier because it is
:04:19. > :04:23.cooler. They will have to look out for falling temperatures as night
:04:24. > :04:28.comes in. Exactly, that is one of the biggest temperatures, and tyre
:04:29. > :04:30.temperatures will be affected. The Pirelli tyres are particularly peaky
:04:31. > :04:38.in terms of surface temperature. We will see quite a drop-off, as much
:04:39. > :04:40.as 15 degrees. This is round three in a calendar of 19 races. A few new
:04:41. > :05:02.events to look out for this year... Nico Rosberg heads the driver
:05:03. > :05:09.standings after two events, Lewis Hamilton is 18 points adrift. The
:05:10. > :05:20.two McLaren boys are behind Fernando Alonso.
:05:21. > :05:25.The Silver Arrows dominates the constructors' table. Red Bull are
:05:26. > :05:34.currently occupying sixth position. That definitely was not the start of
:05:35. > :05:39.the season they wanted. No, we know with the regulation change that the
:05:40. > :05:43.past has no bearing on how the car will go. They have won four straight
:05:44. > :05:50.World Championships, but the interaction of the sashay and the
:05:51. > :05:54.power unit is not as good as that of Mercedes and Ferrari. -- chassis.
:05:55. > :05:58.But the change from where they were in preseason to wear they have
:05:59. > :06:02.delivered on track has been huge, so much more to come this year. An
:06:03. > :06:06.interesting weekend, Jean Todt is here, the Ferrari chairman, Luca di
:06:07. > :06:11.Montezemolo, he is calling for change. The think we will see any
:06:12. > :06:15.changes? I think it is for very premature for changes to be made on
:06:16. > :06:18.the basis that someone has done a better job with the regulations! All
:06:19. > :06:21.the teams were part of the process, they knew the regulations were
:06:22. > :06:26.changing and that their engine manufacturers would play a large
:06:27. > :06:29.part in that. We have to acknowledge what a great job Mercedes have done,
:06:30. > :06:33.and we have to see what flexibility there is from the FIA to allow
:06:34. > :06:37.Ferrari and Renault to make changes to close the gap. You know, it is
:06:38. > :06:40.never going to be a case of everyone having the same power or fuel
:06:41. > :06:46.efficiency, but at the moment the gap is a bit too big. It seems
:06:47. > :06:50.Mercedes will dominate here, the team will suit their drivers, do you
:06:51. > :06:54.think? Reflected by their performance in practice and the
:06:55. > :06:58.first two Grands Prix of the season, interesting to see whether it will
:06:59. > :07:02.be Nico or Lewis, depending on your personal favourite. They will be
:07:03. > :07:05.doing a lot of winning this year. It was a desert duel for Mercedes in
:07:06. > :07:11.qualifying, some surprising was behind front row. Lee McKenzie has
:07:12. > :07:13.the story of qualifying. Adrian Sutil and Romain Grosjean
:07:14. > :07:17.went to the stewards for this incident. They found the Lotus
:07:18. > :07:20.driver was forced into a evasive action, Sutil was given a five place
:07:21. > :07:25.penalty, which means he starts from the back of the pack. Sebastian
:07:26. > :07:29.Vettel could not get his Red Bull working properly. He said the car
:07:30. > :07:34.was not quick enough and did not make the top ten shoot out, ending
:07:35. > :07:38.up 11. But he makes Daniel Ricciardo had no such problems, not only
:07:39. > :07:42.making it into Q3, but he put his Renault powered Red Bull into third
:07:43. > :07:45.place. He does carry a ten place grid penalty from Malaysia after his
:07:46. > :07:50.unsafe release into the pit lane means he will start from 13. Ferrari
:07:51. > :07:54.have been struggling throughout the weekend, Fernando Alonso could only
:07:55. > :07:58.manage tenth after an engine issue. Kimi Raikkonen tried everything,
:07:59. > :08:03.putting it into sixth, at qualifying his team-mate for the first time.
:08:04. > :08:07.Williams have been rejuvenated this season, and an impressive lap from
:08:08. > :08:11.Valtteri Bottas means he qualified on the second row. That left
:08:12. > :08:15.Mercedes, dominating the weekend, qualifying was no different. A
:08:16. > :08:20.mistake from Lewis Hamilton meant he abandoned his quick final lap, and
:08:21. > :08:22.he stuck with second, but team-mate Nico Rosberg had already done enough
:08:23. > :08:27.to put his Silver Arrow into pole position. So Nico Rosberg takes his
:08:28. > :08:31.second consecutive pole at the circuit, the first time this year
:08:32. > :08:35.there has been an all Mercedes front row. Valtteri Bottas moves up to
:08:36. > :08:41.third, Sergio Perez gives Force India their best qualifying enormous
:08:42. > :08:45.two years. Kimi Raikkonen is fifth, Button on his 250th race is sixth.
:08:46. > :08:50.Massa and Magnussen on the fourth row, Alonso and Vettel behind.
:08:51. > :08:55.Hulkenberg start outside the top ten for the first time in eight races,
:08:56. > :09:00.rookie Kvyat is 12. Ricciardo's penalty brings out in 30 alongside
:09:01. > :09:06.former team a Vergne. The two Lotus cars had a tough time, 16th and
:09:07. > :09:10.17th. Adrian Sutil, with his penalty, starts from the back of the
:09:11. > :09:13.grid. Just after qualifying, we learned
:09:14. > :09:17.from Adrian Newey that Sebastian Vettel's problems have started to
:09:18. > :09:22.occur in that uncharacteristic spin in free practice three. He spun the
:09:23. > :09:26.car on the exit of turn one leading into two, this is the legacy of them
:09:27. > :09:30.having some difficulties controlling the amount of torque the cars are
:09:31. > :09:34.delivering this year. Very uncharacteristic, and stopping in
:09:35. > :09:37.the gravel, the car overheated, and Adrian Newey explained there was an
:09:38. > :09:43.issue with the waste gate on the turbo, which apparently cost them a
:09:44. > :09:47.couple of tenths of a second. There are a couple of drivers who seem to
:09:48. > :09:50.be misplaced on the grid, this is a place where you can come through.
:09:51. > :09:54.Nico Hulkenberg, should we be looking out for him? We should
:09:55. > :10:00.certainly be looking out for him, he was on a lap that would match his
:10:01. > :10:04.team-mate but ran wide in turn 11. We know he has got great speed, I
:10:05. > :10:08.would expect him to be moving forward. Look out for Daniel
:10:09. > :10:12.Ricciardo, picking up a penalty from the previous race. Both Red Bulls
:10:13. > :10:17.will, in fact, move forward, but Nico Hulkenberg could be the biggest
:10:18. > :10:21.mover. Tom Clarkson is in the pit lane, what can you tell us about
:10:22. > :10:26.strategy? Well, Suzi, we are looking between two and three stops, and
:10:27. > :10:32.which one you choose will depend on traffic and tyre were. Take a look
:10:33. > :10:34.at this, some corner of a foreign field that is for ever England,
:10:35. > :10:38.because the asphalt here in Bahrain is made from granite imported from
:10:39. > :10:42.Shropshire, very abrasive. That causes the drivers problems around
:10:43. > :10:47.the four or five Corners where they are accelerating from low speed, and
:10:48. > :10:50.it is easy to spin of the wheels. In extremist, that could force a pit
:10:51. > :10:55.stop this evening, and the other thing to consider is fuel
:10:56. > :11:02.consumption. None of these cars will be able to complete the race without
:11:03. > :11:07.fuel saving, so how and when they do that could be crucial. It is
:11:08. > :11:09.interesting that last weekend Lewis Hamilton had slightly better fuel
:11:10. > :11:13.consumption than team-mate Nico Rosberg, and that could prove
:11:14. > :11:18.crucial this evening. Intriguing stuff, we can hear from the drivers
:11:19. > :11:24.now. Stunning job in qualifying, sights firmly set on getting onto
:11:25. > :11:28.the podium in third? Will you get in amongst the Mercedes? I think it is
:11:29. > :11:33.a factor, the Mercedes is really too quick, but I think if we can put
:11:34. > :11:38.everything together today we will have a good chance to fight for a
:11:39. > :11:42.podium. That should be the goal. We saw a few people doing a lot of
:11:43. > :11:46.starts, anything particular about this track that means you need to
:11:47. > :11:51.prepare more for this? We did like normal, two starts, normally getting
:11:52. > :11:56.all the info from those two, it should be OK. This could be a good
:11:57. > :12:03.night for Williams and at these lights. Yeah, sure, we will see how
:12:04. > :12:07.the race will go this evening, and definitely it will be better, but
:12:08. > :12:12.not so easy for the tyres, so I hope we can have good pace, you know, and
:12:13. > :12:17.the race will be difficult, so many cars on a similar pace. Will it come
:12:18. > :12:24.down to tyre management? Very important. How will you approach
:12:25. > :12:28.this Grand Prix? Well, you know yourself it is a long race, a lot of
:12:29. > :12:32.things can happen, we have got a decent package and should be
:12:33. > :12:37.competitive in the race. We will be trying to look haired and get a
:12:38. > :12:42.couple of these guys. Strategy will be interesting, we will see what we
:12:43. > :12:46.can do. Best of luck. After the performance of the car this week, a
:12:47. > :12:50.little disappointing to be starting further back, but you must be
:12:51. > :12:54.confident of moving through the field? Yeah, we have a strong and
:12:55. > :12:59.quick car, like you say, very encouraging. I just need a good
:13:00. > :13:04.start, a clean first lap and we will have a strong race. We are aiming to
:13:05. > :13:10.be well into the points, obviously, it is hard to predict, but we want
:13:11. > :13:16.to be further up for sure. Yesterday Mercedes were a league above the
:13:17. > :13:19.scrap, the second row was fascinating, Valtteri Bottas and
:13:20. > :13:23.Sergio Perez equalling their best ever spot. Can they converted to a
:13:24. > :13:25.podium? The Bahrain Grand Prix, Lee and Tom in the pit lane, David and
:13:26. > :13:50.Ben are your commentators. Lights out and away we go, who is it
:13:51. > :13:54.going to be off the front row? Rosberg trying to cover to Hamilton,
:13:55. > :13:58.Hamilton on the inside. But as making a good start, but Hamilton
:13:59. > :14:01.will lead into the first corner, what a crucial getaway for Lewis
:14:02. > :14:07.Hamilton as Massa makes an excellent start. Massa was the first of the
:14:08. > :14:11.two Williams, going past errors in the Force India. Riding on board
:14:12. > :14:14.with Jenson Button, that is the battle up front. Rosberg going
:14:15. > :14:18.around the outside of Lewis Hamilton, they almost touch! We just
:14:19. > :14:24.lose sight of them for a moment, but they most managed to get away with
:14:25. > :14:27.it, Hamilton in front, so crucial to have that advantage. Jenson Button
:14:28. > :14:32.in the middle of the fight there, riding on board with him. An
:14:33. > :14:35.incredible display between the two Mercedes, Rosberg testing how kind
:14:36. > :14:40.his team-mate was going to be, trying to go around the outside
:14:41. > :14:44.through turn four, and he found out exactly how badly Lewis Hamilton
:14:45. > :14:48.once the victory. Lock up from Hulkenberg will cost him time, the
:14:49. > :14:53.Ferrari alongside him, Alonso gets passed, head of Raikkonen. Raikkonen
:14:54. > :14:58.definitely very slow away, problems for Vergne, he has got a punctured
:14:59. > :15:09.right rear, there may have been contact with another car.
:15:10. > :15:17.Sebastian Vettel and Daniel Ricciardo both trying to make their
:15:18. > :15:22.progress. Therefore, currently in 11th. Ricciardo is in 12th.
:15:23. > :15:28.Magnussen is in between the two. He has been passed by Vettel and he has
:15:29. > :16:09.managed to gain a little edge. Let's listen in. RADIO:
:16:10. > :16:15.up under attack from Hulkenberg. Getting into position on Alonso.
:16:16. > :16:22.This is coming in to an overtaking opportunity. We had troubles with
:16:23. > :16:28.the sound. Rosberg is in second place. Fully be Massa is in third.
:16:29. > :16:34.Looking at who has gone up two has gone down, Vergne is the big loser.
:16:35. > :16:38.Back into the pits. It is the second race in a role that he has had
:16:39. > :16:43.trouble is on the opening lap. And the Frenchman is in difficulty.
:16:44. > :16:50.TRANSLATION: And do not know who it was. Absolutely mental. Jean-Eric
:16:51. > :16:56.Vergne, understandably very unhappy with the way things been going. He
:16:57. > :17:01.had to settle himself and try to get back into this race. Hamilton, just
:17:02. > :17:08.a second advantage over Nico Rosberg. But behind them, Massa on
:17:09. > :17:13.track. Both Williams running in the top five, chased by Button.
:17:14. > :17:20.Sebastian Vettel they are, currently running in 10th position. But he has
:17:21. > :17:24.not made much ground. Remember, he is on a different tyre to everyone
:17:25. > :17:33.else. All the others are on soft tyres. Magnussen is behind. Vettel
:17:34. > :17:37.can see the silver McLaren. And there are still some battling going
:17:38. > :17:44.on. It seems amazing. There must be a problem with Grosjean's car.
:17:45. > :17:49.Another pace of the Lotus has not been great but it is surprising to
:17:50. > :17:54.see him fighting with the other cars. -- I know the pace. They are
:17:55. > :18:00.so reliant on recoverable energy that if there is any friction, the
:18:01. > :18:04.system gives in. You are left with the power from the engine alone. It
:18:05. > :18:12.remains to be seen what the issue is but not where you would expect Lotus
:18:13. > :18:25.to be, battling with the Mauritius. Alonso and Roz very close together.
:18:26. > :18:29.-- Rosberg. Applicant was an -- I think it was a fantastic display of
:18:30. > :18:33.instinctive hunger. Nico Rosberg, sneaking through on the fourth turn,
:18:34. > :18:40.they might have given him space, we team-mate, but Lewis Hamilton drove
:18:41. > :18:43.him over. Quite a clear indication. We see that amazing start from fully
:18:44. > :18:48.paymaster. Getting itself into third place. That is where we expected to
:18:49. > :18:53.see his team-mate running. But currently, he is running around in
:18:54. > :18:56.fifth. Kimi Raikkonen got squeezed out by Alonso and I think that is
:18:57. > :19:02.what he was complaining about. He got a shunt from Alonso. And it
:19:03. > :19:15.looks like the Red Bulls were going into it as well. Saying, and think
:19:16. > :19:19.we may be old karting bodies but I want this championship. Massa, on
:19:20. > :19:24.the left, finding a sponsor down the middle of the racetrack. A bit of a
:19:25. > :19:35.lock from Perez. All this contact, the might of been contact with the
:19:36. > :19:43.front wing of Jenson Button. Let's watch Alonso's start with regards to
:19:44. > :19:49.Raikkonen up ahead. Massa, fantastic of the line. Alonso, trying to spot
:19:50. > :19:54.gaps. He is going down the middle. Alonso, presumably, gives light in
:19:55. > :20:01.the squeeze but that looks like he caught him sleeping. Let's watch
:20:02. > :20:08.Hamilton's start. If Rosberg had had somebody else inside, would he be
:20:09. > :20:11.more aggressive? You have to not treat your team-mate any
:20:12. > :20:14.differently. You do not make contact with any car. You could damage your
:20:15. > :20:18.own. Nicole was brave in Malaysia down the inside, but not quite so
:20:19. > :20:24.brave there with his team-mate. Here goes for the outside. Some guys have
:20:25. > :20:30.been able to overtake there but Lewis says, yeah, I am using all of
:20:31. > :20:36.the road so forget it. Classic racing from both. Another replay.
:20:37. > :20:41.Can we see any more contact? Ricciardo, being pushed over the
:20:42. > :20:45.curb. And there was contact on the inside of the curb. That was
:20:46. > :20:48.Magnussen and Raikkonen. He might have damaged the underside of his
:20:49. > :20:50.car. I think Raikkonen was complaining about Magnussen rather
:20:51. > :21:05.than his team-mate. It seems like a fair comment. You are utterly right.
:21:06. > :21:12.Mercedes, beginning to pull away. Hulkenberg has got past Alonso. Just
:21:13. > :21:25.getting past him. Raikkonen next, chased by Vettel and Magnussen.
:21:26. > :21:30.Daniil Kvyat complaining that he has too much from blocking with his car.
:21:31. > :21:39.Hulkenberg, not only does he have a straight line advantage... RADIO:
:21:40. > :21:44.you are saving more fuel than your team-mate. Continue to savour. It is
:21:45. > :21:48.almost as easy to see Lewis or Hamilton as it is to say, your
:21:49. > :21:56.team-mate, but it shows you that all but they try to create between
:21:57. > :21:59.themselves. This was Hulkenberg. I was going to say that he had more
:22:00. > :22:06.straight-line speed than Alonso anyway. He said he did not have the
:22:07. > :22:12.power and that was the problem in qualifying. They changed the exhaust
:22:13. > :22:17.manifold overnight. What have you got for us, Tom? It was very
:22:18. > :22:21.difficult to see from the replays, the amount of damage to either
:22:22. > :22:28.Jenson Button's car or Kevin Magnussen. But McLaren are equally
:22:29. > :22:32.worried. Have seen their chief race engineer heading into the garage,
:22:33. > :22:38.looking concerned. They are equally anxious. A little luck from
:22:39. > :22:42.Sebastian Vettel and Ricciardo. He locks the rear, and he cannot hold
:22:43. > :22:48.the car. And he may lose another place if he is not careful. They do
:22:49. > :22:52.not think that Daniil Kvyat will get him but he might because he has the
:22:53. > :22:58.momentum. Then the inside he goes. Is he going to get past the Daniel
:22:59. > :23:04.Ricciardo? And is a little bit of caution there, I think. Ricciardo
:23:05. > :23:09.holds on. Which are driving from this inexperienced driver. There was
:23:10. > :23:19.an opportunity. -- mature driving. There was some risk, that he could
:23:20. > :23:28.have T-bone and the card. But he had a goal. He knows he is struggling.
:23:29. > :23:32.-- t-boned the car. But look how far back you came from. He went for the
:23:33. > :23:37.element of surprise and ultimately ended up scaring himself. Good
:23:38. > :23:41.awareness from Magnussen, we read that the car was on his inside.
:23:42. > :23:48.Managing to stay out wide and given space. Sutil of the other car, --
:23:49. > :23:52.was the other car on the medium tyres. Switching now too soft tyres.
:23:53. > :24:02.I wonder if Sebastian Vettel me coming soon to do the same? -- may
:24:03. > :24:06.come in soon. Certainly, we will have to wait to see what these guys
:24:07. > :24:09.do. Two stops or three stops? Vettel, and therefore the moment,
:24:10. > :24:21.chasing the Ferrari of Kimi Raikkonen. -- out there for the
:24:22. > :24:26.moment. Still side-by-side but Bottas fights off Button. He shows
:24:27. > :24:31.him how to do it a Button, in his 250th Grand Prix. This is crucial.
:24:32. > :24:35.These guys were Evelyn Matthei in qualifying but Sergio Perez has
:24:36. > :24:41.passed the Williams and takes advantage of Button's initial
:24:42. > :24:47.movement. In the beginning, he was almost too compliant. It was
:24:48. > :24:51.Hulkenberg, sorry! Button left the door open. And then he decided he
:24:52. > :24:59.could fight for it and in doing so, he made himself slower. Maybe some
:25:00. > :25:03.inexperience from Bottas. Massa is the leader of the two Williams.
:25:04. > :25:11.Let's look at how this began. Hulkenberg in the background. Look
:25:12. > :25:16.at the brake dust coming off. Button, he may be 250 Grand Prix
:25:17. > :25:25.old, but he is still willing to have a go. And then Button takes the
:25:26. > :25:30.line. That affects his drive. You can see a little wobble as he tries
:25:31. > :25:54.to put the traction down. Vettel, chasing Raikkonen. RADIO:
:25:55. > :26:02.Perez is going to take the place. Credit where it is due. A fantastic
:26:03. > :26:06.performance this weekend. That was from a long way back! He could have
:26:07. > :26:09.ended in tears. And it came good. Sergio Perez had a strong race here
:26:10. > :26:20.last year. One of his best races. But he has shown tremendous form
:26:21. > :26:25.this weekend. A feisty drive. He had a terrible start to the season. This
:26:26. > :26:29.is the running to turn 11. He does not manage it and then the replay of
:26:30. > :26:34.coming back around the inside. That allows him to pick his line. A
:26:35. > :26:44.wonderful coroner around the back of the circuit. And this was her Perez
:26:45. > :26:50.got past. And it was textbook. -- how Perez. Massa tries to see if he
:26:51. > :26:57.can hang in there but it is all over. Adrian Sutil is pulling over.
:26:58. > :27:02.It has been a miserable weekend for him. He is missing something on his
:27:03. > :27:07.rear tyre. There is no marking. As he rubbed up on something? That is
:27:08. > :27:14.unusual. Normally the markings are clearly displayed. But not from the
:27:15. > :27:26.side. It was black sidewall only. Was the contact? Let's take a look.
:27:27. > :27:39.Side-by-side with Bianchi. That was a great spot. I have a 5-year-old
:27:40. > :27:47.and they do a lot of colouring in. That was after, the Marussia got
:27:48. > :27:52.damage. Bianchi lost control and smacked into the side. Sutil already
:27:53. > :28:00.had a penalty this weekend. Expect to see him up at the stewards again.
:28:01. > :28:10.The Mercedes leaving the Grand Prix by a -- leading the Grand Prix by a
:28:11. > :28:15.country mile. RADIO: Sebastian, lets Daniel go through, please. He is
:28:16. > :28:18.quicker than you. Please let him by. That was interesting. A very cool
:28:19. > :28:24.Daniel Ricciardo asking for something to be done. That is what
:28:25. > :28:31.the team wanted, someone who is not scared to say what he thinks. They
:28:32. > :28:41.want someone who has got hunger and fire. Delivered with a calm head.
:28:42. > :28:45.Let me go, I am faster. The tyre was changed on Bianchi's car and he is
:28:46. > :28:49.on his way again. Side-by-side, yes, we are looking at the battle.
:28:50. > :28:56.Rosberg has got past Hamilton. No, he hasn't! Wonderful racing. Not
:28:57. > :29:00.only did he retake it, that is an equivalent of a slap in the face,
:29:01. > :29:07.cutting across the front wing of Rosberg. They have to bring Hamilton
:29:08. > :29:11.in the slap. He has got near to the end of the light of these tyres. If
:29:12. > :29:17.they do not bring him in first, he is going to be frustrated. Are they
:29:18. > :29:21.going to be sticking to a similar pit stop strategy? Rosberg seems to
:29:22. > :29:29.be making his tyres gold that bit further. This is what we want to
:29:30. > :29:33.see. Two top team-mates being allowed to fight each other. That is
:29:34. > :30:20.what we're seeing. They were very close to touching. RADIO:
:30:21. > :30:22.Rosberg. That was close to contact. And although the expression. -- I
:30:23. > :30:26.don't know the expression. This is another replay. The PRS was in
:30:27. > :30:31.operation. In fact, this is him having another go now. He has locked
:30:32. > :30:35.up but has he got in front? Yes, no? Hamilton cannot fend him off.
:30:36. > :30:42.Rosberg has got past. Rosberg takes the lead but will he keep it? He
:30:43. > :30:46.moves inside. Over the dirt and dust. Hamilton will try to go around
:30:47. > :30:50.the outside and cut back on the exit. This is amazing racing between
:30:51. > :30:57.the two Mercedes team-mates. Side-by-side. Hamilton retakes the
:30:58. > :31:06.place, retaking the lead. And there is nothing to choose between them.
:31:07. > :31:10.That is how hungry they both our. This is brilliant! Rosberg throwing
:31:11. > :31:14.everything at him, but he got on the dirt, and that is probably why he
:31:15. > :31:18.did not have the grip at the next corner, and the driver has to think
:31:19. > :31:22.about so many things in a battle like this and still have to look
:31:23. > :31:25.after their tyres. They are 35 seconds ahead of anyone else, they
:31:26. > :31:30.don't have to worry about being caught by the opposition. This is
:31:31. > :31:35.not looking at the tyres, this is looking after the man behind the
:31:36. > :31:45.steering wheel. I wonder how Toto Wolff and Paddy Lowe will feel now!
:31:46. > :31:50.This is what they live for, it is not just having the fastest racing
:31:51. > :31:55.car, they want to see racing. Rosberg is in better shape on his
:31:56. > :31:59.fuel. Hamilton coming in this lap. First pit stop, crucial, the new
:32:00. > :32:04.tyre will be worth a lot, and it will be difficult for Rosberg to
:32:05. > :32:09.come out when he makes his pit stop. Let's watch the stock, it is
:32:10. > :32:14.crucial, every 100th could make a difference. It is a lovely, lovely
:32:15. > :32:21.stop for Lewis Hamilton, on his way once again with the new tyres, so he
:32:22. > :32:27.will be very fast on his next lap. Using the RS, push hard now for two
:32:28. > :32:33.laps, then we go to prime tyre, alternative strategy. -- using DRS.
:32:34. > :32:36.This is going to be interesting, we will not know how it will work out
:32:37. > :32:42.until towards the end of the Grand Prix. Take another look at... This
:32:43. > :32:50.is darts a moment ago going past Fernando Alonso into sixth
:32:51. > :32:54.position. -- Perez. Is he going to be switching on to the medium
:32:55. > :33:00.compound, Rosberg? That is what we think from the writing on the side
:33:01. > :33:05.wall, let's take a look. It is indeed, so a completely different
:33:06. > :33:10.strategy for Rosberg, he would be harder tyre on earlier in the race,
:33:11. > :33:14.and that will make life exciting. Two tenths slower on the pit stop,
:33:15. > :33:18.Hamilton will be a head, watch him on the right, the gap has opened
:33:19. > :33:22.up. But they are on different strategies. The gap between them
:33:23. > :33:27.will open up on this next lap, because according to Pirelli the new
:33:28. > :33:33.softer versus the new medium, the difference is about 1.1 seconds on
:33:34. > :33:38.that first lap. We know Nico Rosberg will lose now, but the gap will
:33:39. > :33:43.stabilise, so he is going to drop back quite a lot during this next
:33:44. > :33:47.stint. Riding on board with Sebastian Vettel, he is behind Kimi
:33:48. > :33:52.Raikkonen here on the soft tyre, both of them on the soft tyre, but
:33:53. > :33:57.this is a relatively new set. As the in battle, so he should be in better
:33:58. > :34:05.shape with his tyres. -- a relatively new set for Sebastian
:34:06. > :34:11.Vettel. Ferrari losing a bit of time through turn four. This will be a
:34:12. > :34:15.long stint on the prime tyres. A long stint, that is uprising, they
:34:16. > :34:21.obviously feel it is going to give them some pretty good performance.
:34:22. > :34:27.-- that is surprising. The cooler conditions will come into play as
:34:28. > :34:31.the track rubbers in. That will reduce the gap between the prime and
:34:32. > :34:35.option. Such a lead that Mercedes Grand Prix have, they could take
:34:36. > :34:39.their pit stops and still come out in first and second place. Two
:34:40. > :34:45.things about splitting strategy - one, it states pressure of the
:34:46. > :34:48.debrief afterwards, because you do not have like-for-like racing, and
:34:49. > :34:51.there will be tension between the two drivers. The team have been
:34:52. > :34:56.fantastic in allowing them to go wheel to wheel, but if this finishes
:34:57. > :34:59.up with Lewis winning the Grand Prix, and that is a big if with a
:35:00. > :35:08.long way to go, but if it does, expect knee go to be somewhat frosty
:35:09. > :35:15.with his old buddy. -- Nico. It is always going to be a great area,
:35:16. > :35:22.looking at the fuel use, certainly Vettel right on the limit of what he
:35:23. > :35:26.can use. This is the reverse of last week, when you add Bottas being
:35:27. > :35:31.told, saying, I am faster than my team-mate. It shows what difference
:35:32. > :35:35.a week can make, having your car working for you, Massa faster than
:35:36. > :35:43.Bottas, and I would not be surprised if he has a radio message, come on,
:35:44. > :35:48.we are being pushed by Hulkenberg and Perez, let me go. This is into
:35:49. > :35:53.turn 12, where he passed the McLaren in winter testing. 13 is too long,
:35:54. > :35:57.much tighter in the apex, a better drive off the corner, so will you
:35:58. > :36:03.try to make a pass into the last turn or wait for the DRS? Down the
:36:04. > :36:07.inside goes Sebastian Vettel, outbreak in the Ferrari, I am not
:36:08. > :36:14.sure Kimi Raikkonen was expecting that. Massa and Bottas almost
:36:15. > :36:23.touching, I am not sure what is going on there! The Force India will
:36:24. > :36:26.come back at them. Williams versus Force India, this is for third
:36:27. > :36:31.place, very different to what we have seen in recent years,
:36:32. > :36:34.particularly from Williams. Force India have had some good results
:36:35. > :36:42.here, Paul di Resta was a fine for here last season, but they will have
:36:43. > :36:47.to cope with the Williams today. What a performance from Force India
:36:48. > :36:50.and Williams, Williams at the World Championships in their DNA, but
:36:51. > :36:57.Force India, a small privateer team based at Silverstone. Great stuff,
:36:58. > :37:02.isn't it? It is 11 years to the day that Jordan, which was the origins
:37:03. > :37:06.of the Force India team, 11 years... Never heard of them! 11
:37:07. > :37:09.years since they took their last victory, I wonder if the anniversary
:37:10. > :37:18.will provide them with a special result. I would like to box now if
:37:19. > :37:23.possible. Gosh. Very early. Three stops if he is. Relatively early
:37:24. > :37:28.even for three stops, he will have to do a long stint somewhere along
:37:29. > :37:32.the line, maybe the harder tyre will serve him better. Our Williams
:37:33. > :37:40.getting ready? I cannot see the Williams boys. That has not been
:37:41. > :37:44.accepted. He is coming in, the team will have to get out in the pit
:37:45. > :37:51.lane, they are not out yet! Hulkenberg has the DRS on Massa,
:37:52. > :37:56.Hulkenberg moves to the outside, and Perez is trapped in behind ready to
:37:57. > :38:00.pick up the pieces if anything goes wrong. Hulkenberg qualified much
:38:01. > :38:06.further back than Perez, he ended up losing out, Massa knows he is
:38:07. > :38:12.there. Hulkenberg goes to the inside, almost over the white line,
:38:13. > :38:17.but he will lose momentum. Watch Perez. They will be side by side,
:38:18. > :38:23.team-mates battling again, Perez gets past Hulkenberg, because
:38:24. > :38:28.Hulkenberg tried so hard to get past the Williams. They actually touched,
:38:29. > :38:31.with his team-mate Jenson Button last year, so Hulkenberg had to go
:38:32. > :38:37.for it here, questionable whether Massa made a double move to defend
:38:38. > :38:43.and then again, forcing Hulkenberg momentarily off the circuit.
:38:44. > :38:48.This is great stuff, isn't it? Early and racing, DRS in operation for
:38:49. > :38:55.both Force Indias as Massa wonders which of them will attack him next.
:38:56. > :38:58.-- -- brilliant racing. This is where Hulkenberg made a mistake in
:38:59. > :39:03.qualifying, he keeps it is nice and neat now. Remind ourselves,
:39:04. > :39:08.Hulkenberg came from 11 on the grid. Perez was on the second row, so a
:39:09. > :39:12.strong drive by Hulkenberg, but he will be furious he lost that
:39:13. > :39:18.position, it could be crucial. He did not leave a space there, he
:39:19. > :39:22.pushed me right off. That is a reference to Massa. Jenson Button
:39:23. > :39:27.was upset with Sergio Perez last year, remember that little incident
:39:28. > :39:33.when Perez ran into Button at turn four. We are riding with Daniel
:39:34. > :39:42.Ricciardo. He is on the harder tyres. DRS is not working. A couple
:39:43. > :39:47.of drivers are reporting that today, Button is in seventh. Look at the
:39:48. > :39:53.oversteer on Raikkonen off the high-speed chicane of seven. Alonso
:39:54. > :39:57.had a DRS failure, the wing jammed open completely. I wonder what it
:39:58. > :40:00.is, maybe it is the sand in the environment that gives them
:40:01. > :40:03.difficulties. They have to run slightly different air filters for
:40:04. > :40:08.the engines and the like, more dusty in this environment. Maybe that is
:40:09. > :40:15.the answer, but Daniel Ricciardo has not found a way past Raikkonen yet.
:40:16. > :40:19.Vettel is ahead of them, so although Vettel allowed Ricciardo through
:40:20. > :40:23.earlier, because of the earlier pit stop, it really gains you track
:40:24. > :40:27.position. He may end up paying a price later in the race. Watching
:40:28. > :40:34.the race upfront between Hamilton and Rosberg, Hamilton is two tense
:40:35. > :40:38.quicker, less than I would expect from the difference in tyres, and
:40:39. > :40:42.now this is a question of whether Hamilton can preserve the option
:40:43. > :40:47.tyres to go along enough... Massa goes defensive on Perez. A very
:40:48. > :40:52.deliberate line of the Force India, trying to turn in wide and lay down
:40:53. > :41:00.the street possible. He has locked up! Meanwhile, an attack on Massa
:41:01. > :41:06.from Perez. Is he going to have a look at getting alongside him?
:41:07. > :41:10.Hulkenberg is right behind him, Perez side by side with Massa, and
:41:11. > :41:15.Sergio Perez driving out of his skin this weekend, and Hulkenberg has got
:41:16. > :41:20.the chance to nip past the Williams as well here. But Sergio Augero is
:41:21. > :41:26.fought for that. Does Hulkenberg have the power to outright the
:41:27. > :41:32.Williams? Ears on the outside down to turn nine, good clean racing. --
:41:33. > :41:36.he is. He gets sideways on the exit, that has cost and speed, and the
:41:37. > :41:44.Massa will come back at him towards turn 11. But Hulkenberg can just
:41:45. > :41:49.bend him off. Who said this was taxi driving?! This is racing! This
:41:50. > :41:53.circuit, in its tenth ear, has given us some great battles, none better
:41:54. > :42:00.than we are seeing right now, this is a circuit where they are few will
:42:01. > :42:05.limited as well. This is Ricciardo, DRS wide-open, mocks the front left.
:42:06. > :42:11.He would be thinking, oh, no, did they brush wheels? That was so
:42:12. > :42:17.close. Raikkonen was presumably aware. Look at this again. Having a
:42:18. > :42:22.glance in his mirror as he leaves the door open to avoid contact.
:42:23. > :42:29.Working at the wheel through turn two, that will have flat spotted his
:42:30. > :42:35.front left, Daniel Ricciardo. Look at that! How close do you want to
:42:36. > :42:41.be? I think Ricciardo can go over to Kimi and say, thanks, mate, I needed
:42:42. > :42:45.that space. This is the replay of how Perez got past Massa. This move
:42:46. > :42:50.has worked for him so many times on this circuit, he straightens the car
:42:51. > :42:56.on the exit of four and get a massive drive through five into the
:42:57. > :43:00.high-speed chicane. Tom. I think the fuel figures are fascinating,
:43:01. > :43:04.talking about the Mercedes drivers, both have used about 50% available,
:43:05. > :43:09.and they are going to use less fuel in the second half of the race as
:43:10. > :43:14.the car gets lighter. Bottas trying to go past Ricciardo, he suddenly
:43:15. > :43:20.shot off there! I am not quite sure what happened. We will get a replay
:43:21. > :43:26.of that and be able to dissect it. He was on the attack, he had DRS, he
:43:27. > :43:30.was side by side with Ricciardo. I think Ricciardo did not move over
:43:31. > :43:34.particularly. OK, does he put a wheel on the white line? He took
:43:35. > :43:40.avoiding action, almost looking like he was going to run into the back of
:43:41. > :43:44.the Ferrari, he got off the brakes. What was he doing?! Let me know what
:43:45. > :43:50.he did, we will get straight onto Charlie. No, watch your television,
:43:51. > :43:57.he's not talking about the Red Bull, he is talking about the Ferrari!
:43:58. > :44:03.Kimi braking caught him out. Lewis, you are safe on fuel, no more lift
:44:04. > :44:10.and ghost. I heard you, looking after the tyres! He is being very
:44:11. > :44:15.cautious, he knows he is in a race, Sergio Perez coming in on this lap
:44:16. > :44:18.from third place. Remember, a very interesting tussle between the two
:44:19. > :44:22.Force India team mates, Perez currently third, Hulkenberg in
:44:23. > :44:27.fourth place, 1.5 seconds behind him. Button is now in fifth place,
:44:28. > :44:32.Vettel sixth, Ricciardo seventh, and it looks as if the top seven cars in
:44:33. > :44:37.this Grand Prix are trying to do it on two stops. Massa, I think, will
:44:38. > :44:43.be on a three-stop race, he is trying to get past Ricciardo. Felipe
:44:44. > :44:46.Massa in ninth place currently. This should be the opportunity to get
:44:47. > :44:52.past the Red Bull. His team-mates did the same last time, is it just
:44:53. > :44:56.as easy? DRS open, and again he just drives past the Red Bull. Nothing
:44:57. > :45:01.Ricciardo can do about it. We expect the Williams to have to make another
:45:02. > :45:04.pit stop. Ricciardo may be trying to go to the end. Outcomes Perez, where
:45:05. > :45:21.does he come out? Just behind Alonso. In an deal with the Ferrari
:45:22. > :45:29.Wycliffe. -- I wonder if he can deal with the Ferraris quickly. He will
:45:30. > :45:33.deal with the fresh tyres. As they burn fuel, because it more
:45:34. > :45:44.responsive. He is going to try to make a quickly. They know they have
:45:45. > :45:49.more drive and talk. -- torque. Here is a play of the pit stop. It looks
:45:50. > :45:55.quite slow. Was there an issue with the left rear? Taking no chances. A
:45:56. > :46:01.ten place penalty for Ricciardo this week. Perez, trying to line up
:46:02. > :46:07.Alonso. It is easy for him with that speed. That shows you what
:46:08. > :46:19.difficulties Ferrari Rian. Alonso was not able to do anything that
:46:20. > :46:23.might... Marcus Ericsson, he managed to finish the previous Grand Prix
:46:24. > :46:30.but he has come off. Kobayashi is leading the Caterham Marussia battle
:46:31. > :46:34.by a big margin. Into the pits has come Button and Hulkenberg. Where
:46:35. > :46:41.does Hulkenberg come back out? Lets see where he is. Alonso was close
:46:42. > :46:51.behind. McLaren in there with the force Indians. -- Force India two.
:46:52. > :46:57.We expect them to go to the end of the Grand Prix now on these tyres.
:46:58. > :47:05.The battle between the race leader and his team-mate, Vettel mixing it
:47:06. > :47:19.up with Magnussen, in a clean run out of turn two, but it seems to me
:47:20. > :47:25.that Hamilton has this in the back. -- in the bag. We assume that the
:47:26. > :47:30.prime tyres are working well for Hamilton. Maldonado was in ninth. He
:47:31. > :47:34.has only done the one stop. Surrounded by cars that have done
:47:35. > :47:41.two. But currently, he is in a point position. Under attack by Sebastian
:47:42. > :47:47.Vettel. There is no space, so the next area is the PRS area up ahead.
:47:48. > :47:58.Both Renault powered. Making it look easy. On a fresh attire and a faster
:47:59. > :48:01.car. The Lotuses undeveloped. Sebastian Vettel gave us the message
:48:02. > :48:11.that the PRS was not working. But clearly, it is open now. Eriksson
:48:12. > :48:17.has reported that he has lost power, which is the reason for him pulling
:48:18. > :48:24.over. We have lost the other Sauber, of Adrian Sutil. I'm not sure what
:48:25. > :48:29.the flag is for. It may just be Eriksson's car. And think it is just
:48:30. > :48:34.the area where he stopped. No overtaking in that area. But they
:48:35. > :48:39.can get back on it as they exit. Vettel coming through in ninth and
:48:40. > :48:48.Maldonado, and behind him, Raikkonen and Ricciardo, tussling. Still no
:48:49. > :48:55.way past for the Red Bull. Perez, more than a second faster than Massa
:48:56. > :49:05.last lap. Ricciardo, trying round the outside in turn four. Raikkonen
:49:06. > :49:09.has got in there. Lovely from Ricciardo, finally getting past the
:49:10. > :49:14.Ferrari. It is on the corners, not the straight line that he achieves
:49:15. > :49:22.it. The Ferrari looked terrible on that fourth turn. Raikkonen...
:49:23. > :49:34.Ricciardo, excuse me, hooking it up around that exit. Magnussen having a
:49:35. > :49:41.quiet run. Getting a great exit. He has done 16 laps on those tyres. You
:49:42. > :49:45.can see the difference. Some helicopter tape hanging off the back
:49:46. > :49:50.of the car of Daniel Ricciardo. It tends to put helicopter tape across

:50:23. > :50:26.afternoon. A bit of a reversal. Bottas always looked like the faster
:50:27. > :50:31.of the two Williams but now he seems to be struggling. But he has track
:50:32. > :50:34.position and his team is very much nervous of giving any instruction to
:50:35. > :50:43.the two drivers after what happened last week. This is Ricciardo when he
:50:44. > :50:47.made that move. Good stuff. Watch Raikkonen on the apex. He has a bit
:50:48. > :50:52.of a wiggle and he tries to get the throttle open. It highlights the
:50:53. > :51:02.difficulty that they are having as Alonso gets passed. Converter can go
:51:03. > :51:07.after his team-mate. RADIO: at the end, Sebastian, you will be under
:51:08. > :51:13.pressure. Under pressure from the likes of Massa and Bottas. Vettel is
:51:14. > :51:19.currently in eighth but he may struggle to carry on to that. Ten
:51:20. > :51:28.seconds behind this pair. Massa has had three stops... We have had a
:51:29. > :51:34.shunt. It must be Gutierrez. This might be a safety car. They will not
:51:35. > :51:42.push that away. It must be a safety car. Only the second time in Bahrain
:51:43. > :51:46.race history. He has gone over. That car has flipped, I would suggest. We
:51:47. > :51:51.will get the replay but you do not knock your camera off. The driver,
:51:52. > :52:01.his head was moving around. Let's wait and see. Hopefully, he is just
:52:02. > :52:06.shaken. We gather it rolled. A lot of debris. I'm sure you are right
:52:07. > :52:10.about the safety car. It looks like the exit of the corner. The driver
:52:11. > :52:19.is in the car and the yellow-flagged is out. We need a medical card they
:52:20. > :52:23.are to error on the side of safety. He is getting out. Fantastic to
:52:24. > :52:27.see. The Mexican, Gutierrez, in his second year of Formula 1. Let's look
:52:28. > :52:33.and see what happened. Was he exiting the pits? He was on the
:52:34. > :52:41.outside and the other car was coming out. And they just did not see each
:52:42. > :52:54.other. What was that! He did not even know it was there. Pastor
:52:55. > :52:58.Maldonado. My goodness. David, a new nose on the Formula 1 car, would
:52:59. > :53:04.that have contributed? Or would this have happened at any situation? Good
:53:05. > :53:11.question. Want to get my vision back... The reason of the loan nose
:53:12. > :53:18.is to stop that nose going into high. Maybe that is a good thing.
:53:19. > :53:23.Meanwhile, Hamilton and Rosberg have taken the stocks and the safety car
:53:24. > :53:31.is out. A lot of damage done. Kevin Magnussen has pulled over to the
:53:32. > :53:34.side of the track. It looks like it is his first non-finish in Formula
:53:35. > :53:39.1. The green light indicates that the car is safe from an electrical
:53:40. > :53:43.point of view. They have different lights on top. Kevin Magnussen,
:53:44. > :53:47.getting out. Jamie Raikkonen has come into the pits during this. Just
:53:48. > :53:55.about everybody is making their final pits pop -- pit stop. Kevin
:53:56. > :54:01.Magnussen clambering out of the cockpit, his first retirement. Let's
:54:02. > :54:10.look at Hamilton's pit stop will stop --. Did the double stack? You
:54:11. > :54:13.wait to see the other car coming. Nine seconds behind on the road.
:54:14. > :54:21.They were reacting to the possibility of a safety car. Lovely
:54:22. > :54:26.call. The strategy is spot on. RADIO: Lewis, it is Paddy. With ten
:54:27. > :54:31.laps left, let's make sure we bring both cars home. An interesting
:54:32. > :54:36.comment from Paddy Lowe. The man who has taken over the role from Ross
:54:37. > :54:41.Brawn, of being the senior man on the radio to tell the boys to behave
:54:42. > :54:50.themselves. I'd doubt that Lewis will respond well to that
:54:51. > :54:56.instruction. To suggest it is in his hands whether the cars come home or
:54:57. > :54:59.not, it takes two to tango. Force India, lined up for an amazing
:55:00. > :55:04.result if they can stay where they are. Their best ever results, second
:55:05. > :55:11.place in 2009 for Jazz Carlin physicality. Wonder how it is going

:55:17. > :55:21.Ten laps left to race. Let's make sure we bring both cars home. The
:55:22. > :55:25.safety car will be coming in on this lap and we will have ten laps to
:55:26. > :55:30.decide the outcome of the 2014 Bahrain Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton
:55:31. > :55:34.and Nico Rosberg on different tyres. They have both been in for their
:55:35. > :55:41.final pit stop -- pits spot -- pits stop. Hamilton is opening the gap to
:55:42. > :55:48.the safety car. He wants to make a brake. Lewis Hamilton gets on the
:55:49. > :55:51.gas. Sliding through the last corner. Changed immediately by Nico
:55:52. > :55:56.Rosberg. They have both been told to keep these cars in one piece and get
:55:57. > :56:02.them to the chequered flag. In the background, the Force Indias
:56:03. > :56:09.side-by-side. Hulkenberg on the outside of Perez. Perez squeezes him
:56:10. > :56:12.out. A very aggressively. Button will feel that. He will be trying to
:56:13. > :56:16.take advantage but he has his own problems. The two Mercedes are
:56:17. > :56:20.side-by-side once again. Hamilton and Rosberg. Rosberg tries to go
:56:21. > :56:29.around the outside but can he do it?! No. Rosberg, with the softer
:56:30. > :56:36.tyre. Perez in third, Hulkenberg in fourth. All of them can see the
:56:37. > :56:40.leaders ahead. To give them that extra spice, to see what they can
:56:41. > :56:43.get out of this Grand Prix. Ricciardo will not just sits behind
:56:44. > :56:52.his team-mate. Therefore has a chance. -- Vettel has a chance. Ten
:56:53. > :57:00.seconds for Pastor mother Naldo. -- Pastor Maldonado. Vettel is through.
:57:01. > :57:08.Another chance for Ricciardo. Bottom loses the place. He is down in sixth
:57:09. > :57:11.with Ricciardo chasing. Meanwhile, Sergio Perez is in third and
:57:12. > :57:18.Ricciardo gets passed Button as well. Absolutely nothing Button can
:57:19. > :57:23.do to prevent the Red Bulls. It is a replay of the winter testing. Up
:57:24. > :57:28.front, still Hamilton and Rosberg. Nobody has to worry about fuel. The
:57:29. > :57:33.safety car has been on track. No concerns about fuel consumption. It
:57:34. > :57:35.is flat out to the flag. No doubt that Rosberg is settling in behind
:57:36. > :57:39.Hamilton, looking for any opportunity. Hamilton looks in his
:57:40. > :57:44.mirrors but Rosberg is biding his time. In the background, the
:57:45. > :57:50.Williams are making a move. Down the inside of Jenson Button, Button is
:57:51. > :57:54.dropping further and further behind. Bottas will try to get past him now.
:57:55. > :58:08.He was trying to hold it, holding the inside line. RADIO: I have lost
:58:09. > :58:12.power. Hamilton is reporting a lack of power. Bottas is passing Button
:58:13. > :58:22.on the exit of turn four. The Ferraris are turning up above behind
:58:23. > :58:26.the McLarens. Alonso was right behind. Kimi Raikkonen and Daniil
:58:27. > :58:32.Kvyat, who took a big lunch. Good avoiding action. It is fraught in
:58:33. > :58:37.the deserts of Bahrain, under the floodlights. It is turning out to be
:58:38. > :58:42.an amazing race. Perez is in third. Hulkenberg under pressure from
:58:43. > :58:49.Vettel. Alonso, moving past. Not moving past Jenson Button. Jenson
:58:50. > :58:55.Button could not make it. On the exit of turn ten,
:58:56. > :59:01.Button could not make it. On the is on the charge. Looking for
:59:02. > :59:07.another Toro Rosso points finish. Hamilton under pressure. TRS will be
:59:08. > :59:12.available. Has there been an incident further down the field?
:59:13. > :59:19.Alonso looking at the McLaren again. They have to be wary of the yellows
:59:20. > :59:24.but they think they have been withdrawn. Hamilton is still
:59:25. > :59:28.leading. Rosberg, the gap was 0.9 seconds as they went over the line.
:59:29. > :59:33.Crucially, Hamilton was quicker than Rosberg that lap. It must've been a
:59:34. > :59:38.Rosberg mistake in the last sector. Hamilton has the fastest lap because
:59:39. > :59:44.of that, one: 37.3, four seconds of qualifying. But it is still
:59:45. > :59:49.important. The PRS is now enabled, but will it give Rosberg more of a
:59:50. > :59:53.chance to close the gap? They are pretty much even Stevens through the
:59:54. > :00:01.first sector as we keep an eye on the Ferraris. And also the Toro
:00:02. > :00:05.Rosso. What an opportunity this is for Daniel Kvyat to go racing
:00:06. > :00:08.against two world champions. Sebastian Vettel is a little bit
:00:09. > :00:18.further up, trying to get as Hulkenberg. A huge lock-up through
:00:19. > :00:21.turn nine. This is where the action is at the moment, Ricciardo will not
:00:22. > :00:26.give up on getting past his team-mates, but the Williams cars
:00:27. > :00:34.are not making the sort of ground I expected. Rosberg quicker in that
:00:35. > :00:40.middle sector than Hamilton. He is going to be in the DRS zone. That is
:00:41. > :00:44.what Rosberg is hoping for, use the DRS and close upon him. The battle
:00:45. > :00:53.for fourth two place, how they use energy recovery is crucial at this
:00:54. > :00:59.time. -- the battle for fourth place. Once again, Hamilton is a
:01:00. > :01:04.full four tenths faster in this sector, that might be the saving
:01:05. > :01:09.position for him. Ricciardo down the inside of Vettel, I think he will
:01:10. > :01:14.make the move stick, he passes his world champion team-mate into gear.
:01:15. > :01:18.They said the Red Bull had less downforce, he knew we had the
:01:19. > :01:23.penalty, but Vettel coming back. Ricciardo goes defensive, will
:01:24. > :01:28.Vettel go around the outside? They would expect a bit more room to be
:01:29. > :01:30.given by Ricciardo than we saw with Hamilton and Rosberg, but he does
:01:31. > :01:36.have the faster car in a straight line, but that means less downforce
:01:37. > :01:41.in the corners. Ricciardo has got itself in front of Vettel, and he
:01:42. > :01:46.will be delighted about that, Vettel chased by Felipe Massa. Rosberg, a
:01:47. > :01:50.good first sector, as he tries to close the gap to Lewis Hamilton.
:01:51. > :01:54.This is going to go all the way to the chequered flag. A lock-up for
:01:55. > :02:00.Sebastian Vettel, Surrey, for Ricciardo this time as he attacks
:02:01. > :02:03.Nico Hulkenberg. Nico Hulkenberg dropping away from his team-mate,
:02:04. > :02:11.but Force India running third and fourth head of the Red Bulls, the
:02:12. > :02:16.Ferraris. This is the pass down into turn one, Vettel goes defensive,
:02:17. > :02:21.Ricciardo carries more speed, less downforce. He was set up for
:02:22. > :02:30.qualifying. Looking back, team radio. I am really slow down the
:02:31. > :02:34.straight! I am losing a lot. We have just seen the replay of Alonso going
:02:35. > :02:38.past Button, and we gather Hulkenberg has been told his energy
:02:39. > :02:43.store, which is the battery pack that stores electrical energy, is
:02:44. > :02:51.low. Whether they have got some sort of ERS problem, he does seem to be
:02:52. > :02:57.down on the pace had earlier in the race. Yes, running slower than his
:02:58. > :03:01.team-mate, half a second on the last lap. This is the downside of this
:03:02. > :03:05.new, complex Formula One - we do not know if we are seeing man-to-man
:03:06. > :03:10.racing, or are they dealing with an issue with the car? You can see how
:03:11. > :03:16.slow convert was, giving his team-mates some breathing space. --
:03:17. > :03:23.how slow Hulkenberg was. Six tenths of a second between Hamilton and
:03:24. > :03:28.Rosberg. A chance for Vettel up the inside of Ricciardo, I do not think
:03:29. > :03:32.he will be able to out drag him. All of these battles between team-mates,
:03:33. > :03:36.someone is going to put a wheel wrong at some point, but so far so
:03:37. > :03:40.good as Vettel tries to reclaim the spot. Hulkenberg is doing a real
:03:41. > :03:45.defensive job and he has more power than these two. The Williams are now
:03:46. > :03:49.catching, so this is where William needs to make their move. They have
:03:50. > :03:53.got to be disappointed with where they are, Massa and Bottas, they
:03:54. > :03:58.were looking at a potential podium finish, but they need to do some
:03:59. > :04:03.overtaking. Rosberg will be closer than at any other time when he comes
:04:04. > :04:07.across the line. We are not seeing that battle. I can tell you that
:04:08. > :04:11.Rosberg did not look close enough to challenge on this lap. He is having
:04:12. > :04:16.a go! He is having a go from a long way back, Rosberg side by side with
:04:17. > :04:21.Hamilton once again, but Hamilton just able to fend them off. It is
:04:22. > :04:25.not over, he has got a good exit, turn four, he moved to the outside,
:04:26. > :04:31.Hamilton hangs him out to dry every time. Hamilton will again squeeze
:04:32. > :04:35.him over the white line! Oh, my goodness, don't touch! They are so
:04:36. > :04:38.close, but they get away with it! They were told to bring the cars
:04:39. > :04:44.back in one piece, and if they carry on like this, it might not happen.
:04:45. > :04:49.Rosberg still on the charge. He is on the better tyre in the same car,
:04:50. > :04:54.he has a lot of anger in his belly. I do not see how Hamilton can hold
:04:55. > :04:58.this. Amazing watching him drive, changing the brake balance between
:04:59. > :05:02.corners, we see it so often, but when they are in the middle of a
:05:03. > :05:06.dice like that, the control and thought processes! He is having a
:05:07. > :05:10.look at the inside, but that is the other DRS zone, a tough place to
:05:11. > :05:17.overtake. It is possible but not easy. Wheel to wheel racing, 3.5
:05:18. > :05:21.seconds per lap faster than the opposition! This is the first time
:05:22. > :05:25.we have seen them in real race conditions having to go flat out
:05:26. > :05:30.because they are racing each other, and they are three seconds faster
:05:31. > :05:35.than the field. You would expect to seem like having a go with the DRS
:05:36. > :05:40.into turn one, or will he try another strategy, leave Hamilton in
:05:41. > :05:46.turn one and get the run into four? Here we go, DRS open, five laps to
:05:47. > :05:49.go. Rosberg has got to find something different here, Hamilton
:05:50. > :05:53.defence, down the inside but deep surely. He still gets into the
:05:54. > :05:59.corner, and Hamilton cuts back again! Well, Hamilton read that
:06:00. > :06:03.beautifully, he is such an instinctive racer, but again he's
:06:04. > :06:06.going to have to defend here, because Rosberg has got the outside
:06:07. > :06:13.line. Can he come back on the exit? Hamilton is not go to letting do
:06:14. > :06:18.that, I don't think. This is wonderful! I do not know how
:06:19. > :06:24.Hamilton is doing this, keeping Rosberg behind! You saw Hamilton, is
:06:25. > :06:28.red light flashing into turn four, saying he was getting a reduction in
:06:29. > :06:34.the acceleration on that straight. That is a message to Rosberg. Not
:06:35. > :06:38.exactly a brake light, it is do with when the car is gathering energy,
:06:39. > :06:43.and it can just lose a bit of straight-line speed and force the
:06:44. > :06:48.driver behind. DRS available once again for Rosberg, but he does not
:06:49. > :06:54.drive. He put a wheel on the kerb, that may have cost him a fraction,
:06:55. > :07:02.but he is still close by. I wonder what would be happening if Ross
:07:03. > :07:06.Brawn was still there. Would he be on the radio more than Paddy Lowe?
:07:07. > :07:11.That is the senior management, Toto Wolff, Paddy Lowe. The two best
:07:12. > :07:14.strikers in Formula One right at this stage, you have to say, because
:07:15. > :07:19.they have got the best cars, but they are being allowed to race
:07:20. > :07:25.against each other, and that is what we are thoroughly enjoy. This lap, a
:07:26. > :07:29.bit further back, Hamilton still fending off Rosberg. Everybody
:07:30. > :07:33.getting behind this confrontation. Two drivers who have known each
:07:34. > :07:37.other for so long. Ricciardo, did he make a move on Hulkenberg?
:07:38. > :07:43.Hulkenberg has been struggling, and I think Ricciardo has made the move
:07:44. > :07:48.into fourth place, yes. Ricciardo, half a second faster. At that rate,
:07:49. > :07:55.he will not close honours. Excellent job, keep doing what you're doing,
:07:56. > :07:59.brokers. Getting on the full to Sergio Perez saying, do this, we can
:08:00. > :08:03.get a podium position, and for Force India that would just be immense, a
:08:04. > :08:08.massive result if they can achieve that. And it is looking good so far.
:08:09. > :08:13.Hulkenberg is the one in trouble, he has got a problem with that car, and
:08:14. > :08:20.he is desperately trying to defend from Vettel, Massa, Bottas, Alonso,
:08:21. > :08:26.Raikkonen is tense, Button is out of the points in 11. Is he going very
:08:27. > :08:32.slowly, Jenson Button? P11 he was, he has dropped to 13 the already as
:08:33. > :08:37.Grosjean has gone past. Oh, he is coming to a halt, so we have lost
:08:38. > :08:42.both McLarens, my goodness, what a long time it has been since two
:08:43. > :08:46.McLarens failed to finish, although it did happen here at Bahrain in the
:08:47. > :08:51.past with both cars going out on the same day. But it is very unusual in
:08:52. > :08:56.modern Formula One, as Massa now goes on the attack with Sebastian
:08:57. > :09:00.Vettel, who goes a little bit too deep into turn one. But there is no
:09:01. > :09:05.way through just yet. He will have the run through three and into four,
:09:06. > :09:10.Vettel will have to go defensive. He is on the sand and the dust, and he
:09:11. > :09:14.goes down the inside, and Massa has got past Sebastian Vettel! Vettel
:09:15. > :09:19.will come back at him on the exit and retakes it. Erect that
:09:20. > :09:24.perfectly, squeezed Massa as much as he could. -- he read that
:09:25. > :09:28.perfectly. Fantastic racing this afternoon. Everybody said the new
:09:29. > :09:34.rules would turn it into an economy drive, but we have not seen that at
:09:35. > :09:39.all - we have seen drivers going for it hard, overtaking, being passed,
:09:40. > :09:44.and now Alonso catching the two Williams, which have not shown the
:09:45. > :09:48.pace that we were expecting in this latter part of the Grand Prix.
:09:49. > :09:54.Button retires, a sad way to end his 250th Grand Prix. That is the way it
:09:55. > :10:01.goes sometimes, the team has a remarkable finishing record. I have
:10:02. > :10:06.to say, that is very sad indeed. But they will pick themselves up again,
:10:07. > :10:10.I am sure. We are on to the final lap now, and Rosberg is not quite
:10:11. > :10:15.there with Lewis Hamilton. I can tell you there is one second between
:10:16. > :10:18.them as they go over the line, and it looks like Lewis Hamilton has
:10:19. > :10:22.done enough. Unless he makes a mistake, it does not look like
:10:23. > :10:26.Rosberg has an answer for him. He has tried everything, but this is
:10:27. > :10:30.Lewis Hamilton at his very best, and when he is at his best, he is
:10:31. > :10:35.arguably the best driver in Formula One right now. Sebastian Vettel
:10:36. > :10:40.still trying to keep Massa and Bottas behind him, then Alonso,
:10:41. > :10:45.Raikkonen with his team-mate. Some team formations going on, Hulkenberg
:10:46. > :10:49.is the one who has not been able to keep that team formation, because he
:10:50. > :10:53.got a problem. I wonder if Williams are allowing their guys to race,
:10:54. > :10:59.because Bottas will use this last lap to try to get as his team-mate.
:11:00. > :11:04.Massa using a lot of road, he has lost a fair bit of grip there. And
:11:05. > :11:09.we have also got the battle going on between Perez and Ricciardo, that is
:11:10. > :11:13.how much Ricciardo has managed to catch over the last lap also. Perez
:11:14. > :11:19.should just about have enough in hand, hoping to get that podium
:11:20. > :11:23.finish for Force India. What a result it would be, but Lewis
:11:24. > :11:28.Hamilton is on the penultimate straight here, coming up towards the
:11:29. > :11:33.last two corners, and I think that Lewis Hamilton has done enough,
:11:34. > :11:38.despite the best intent is of Rosberg. Lewis Hamilton wins the
:11:39. > :11:42.Bahrain Grand Prix! It is a one -to finish for Mercedes once again,
:11:43. > :11:48.back-to-back victories within a week for Lewis Hamilton, his first win in
:11:49. > :11:53.Bahrain, and his 24th career victory to match Juan Manuel Fangio. Who
:11:54. > :11:58.will finish third, it is going to be Sergio Perez for Force India, I
:11:59. > :12:02.think. Daniel Ricciardo trying his utmost, but Sergio Perez brings
:12:03. > :12:06.Force India a podium finish, fantastic for them! The last time
:12:07. > :12:12.they did that, the only time they did that, was 2009. Hulkenberg
:12:13. > :12:17.fifth, Vettel sixth. Then Massa, Bottas, the two Ferraris finishing
:12:18. > :12:23.ninth and tenth. It looks like Daniil Kvyat finishes in 11th,
:12:24. > :12:27.Grosjean in 12th for Lotus, and Max Chilton will get 13th place, another
:12:28. > :12:32.13th place, and that will put Marussia back ahead of Caterham in
:12:33. > :12:37.the seesaw battle that is going on between them. The fireworks go off
:12:38. > :12:41.here, but the fireworks were throughout that Grand Prix. Nice
:12:42. > :12:53.work there, Lewis, you had us all going for a minute, mate! Fantastic
:12:54. > :12:57.job, guys. Thanks. Absolutely fantastic performance. Look at that,
:12:58. > :13:03.the first time he has received the trophy in Bahrain, the first time he
:13:04. > :13:08.has won here, putting the Malaysians bogey behind him last week and this
:13:09. > :13:12.week, two tracks he had previously not won, he has conquered them both
:13:13. > :13:19.in style, and for Force India, what an achievement this is. Well, three
:13:20. > :13:22.wins out of the first three races for one manufacturer, it has not
:13:23. > :13:27.been done since 2006 when Renault were the team to beat. Right now it
:13:28. > :13:30.is very hard to see anyone challenging Mercedes' domination.
:13:31. > :13:40.What a glorious win today, I think I saw you whisper wow on the podium,
:13:41. > :13:50.how would you describe that race? It was unreal today, one of the most
:13:51. > :13:53.difficult races I have had for a long time. I got that gap, and then
:13:54. > :13:58.the safety car come out, and I thought, I could not believe it, you
:13:59. > :14:02.know. I knew that he was on the options, he had a good half a second
:14:03. > :14:08.on me, and he has been quicker generally throughout from qualifying
:14:09. > :14:12.until now. He was quicker, so I had to pull out all the stops, you
:14:13. > :14:17.know, position the car the right way to get back. I feel so blessed, the
:14:18. > :14:22.team have done an incredible job. Back to the start, let's have a look
:14:23. > :14:25.at that. This was classic Lewis on the run down to the first corner,
:14:26. > :14:31.can you recall what you were thinking? Don't brake early!
:14:32. > :14:38.That is a point I have been trying to improve on this year, the first
:14:39. > :14:42.corner attacking, not locking up, and I think in the past here, I got
:14:43. > :14:45.a good pull away, but his second part was a little bit better than
:14:46. > :14:51.mine. I kept the steering wheel straight, he knew I was there. It
:14:52. > :14:56.was just about who breaks later? Super tight at the first corner.
:14:57. > :15:00.Really tight, I used all the road. Generally, this race I really
:15:01. > :15:05.struggled, I did not have the pace, the grip. You can see here that he
:15:06. > :15:13.had done a better job. You cannot come around me on the outside, that
:15:14. > :15:17.is a no-go! Is one thing you show this weekend, nobody was getting an
:15:18. > :15:24.easy pass. That was the feeling I heard. I was
:15:25. > :15:30.not letting this go. Adept and I wanted it so bad. Cannot remember
:15:31. > :15:37.having that fire. Where have you found that hunger? Is it because you
:15:38. > :15:42.are in such a happy place? Think that was the past that the goal was
:15:43. > :15:47.unhappy with. I got the power but I had to straighten up the car. I
:15:48. > :15:53.mean, this looks cool. I will watch these races again. He drove a
:15:54. > :15:57.fantastically well. But here, to come around and get back on the
:15:58. > :16:03.inside, this was an important move. They did not get that, it would have
:16:04. > :16:08.been over. When the safety car came out, what were you thinking? Because
:16:09. > :16:13.with his tyres, he should have been in better shape. He was. The safety
:16:14. > :16:22.car, they told me and you did ten seconds and had 9.5. -- I needed ten
:16:23. > :16:29.seconds. I was not able to bridge that gap. When the safety car came
:16:30. > :16:33.out, my heart sunk. But I said I was going to give it everything. And a
:16:34. > :16:38.great thing is, on the last few laps, I was not making any mistakes.
:16:39. > :16:42.That is what I was happy about. I made no mistakes. He put me under
:16:43. > :16:48.pressure but that did not lock up or go white. I've got everything needed
:16:49. > :16:52.from the car. It looks to me as if this was your hungriest race in
:16:53. > :16:58.terms of sending a message. One of my better races. Every race is
:16:59. > :17:04.special. The last race, when you read from the front, it is
:17:05. > :17:08.different. But this one, to use the skills I have been harnessing for so
:17:09. > :17:14.long, it is not every day you get to pull them out and they work. Nicole
:17:15. > :17:19.has put out a statement to say that he is going to be the victor in
:17:20. > :17:24.China. Bring it on! Let's hear from him. What an incredible race. Do you
:17:25. > :17:28.still appreciate it, even when you did not get the results you hoped
:17:29. > :17:34.for? I am very disappointed to come second after a day like this, where
:17:35. > :17:41.I was quicker. He did a better job than me. And that is it. Of course,
:17:42. > :17:46.I have a joyful side because it was a good day for the sport and an
:17:47. > :17:54.exciting race. In the car, there was a lot of action going on. Good
:17:55. > :18:00.racing, close racing. And so there was a small joyful side, but the
:18:01. > :18:03.majority is unhappy. You were quite vocal on the team radio. Do you
:18:04. > :18:07.think Lewis was respectful of the limits of wheel to wheel racing?
:18:08. > :18:17.There was an occasion where he went beyond the limit. But all in all, it
:18:18. > :18:23.was tough racing. Great scenes down here in Force
:18:24. > :18:28.India. The fourth ever podium. A little bit of dancing going on
:18:29. > :18:32.behind to celebrate Sergio. Nice work. Your fourth podium, but just
:18:33. > :18:34.their second. behind to celebrate Sergio. Nice
:18:35. > :18:40.work. Your fourth podium, but Very eventful from your point of view.
:18:41. > :18:48.The podium means a lot. Confidence wise, in every way. I've had a tough
:18:49. > :18:51.time last year at McLaren. Just because of the fact that I was never
:18:52. > :18:57.able to fight for a podium. This is a big factor. As a driver, when you
:18:58. > :19:00.have a good car, it puts you at another level. The way you prepare
:19:01. > :19:08.yourself, it moves you forward. I mean, I'd drive with art and if I
:19:09. > :19:12.have the opportunity, I know that I have to give my very best to get the
:19:13. > :19:16.points. I'd give it all and it was an amazing feeling to cross the
:19:17. > :19:21.finish line and give these guys a second podium. It is the fourth
:19:22. > :19:26.podium of your career but what is it about Bahrain? This was one of your
:19:27. > :19:31.best races last year. What was it that allowed you to put in this
:19:32. > :19:37.performance? We had a good time at Bahrain last year. It was hotter.
:19:38. > :19:42.And I think nothing special, but the fact that both cars were competitive
:19:43. > :19:47.here. So I managed to put in a good race with McLaren and here for Force
:19:48. > :19:54.India. Hopefully this is just the start of a turnaround for my career
:19:55. > :20:01.and for the team. Let's look at some of your moves today. Some great
:20:02. > :20:08.overtaking. Fully paid, -- Felipe, that was very important. I'm new I
:20:09. > :20:14.had to get him soon. Then I'll overtook Fernando when I was behind
:20:15. > :20:22.Nicole. I'm new I had to get Nicole very soon. But that was the biggest
:20:23. > :20:30.opportunity for me to hit him. Wheel to wheel. It was important to get
:20:31. > :20:39.the Williams they are because I'm new that Nicole was close. -- I knew
:20:40. > :20:46.that Nicole was close. And you passed the double World Champion
:20:47. > :20:50.twice. That was the hardest one. The front wheel was locking, and it was
:20:51. > :20:58.really hard to picture those tyres after the race. And it was looking
:20:59. > :21:05.easier that we could podium but when the safety car came out, it's good
:21:06. > :21:11.us up. It was really hard. -- it screwed us up. My team-mate, Nico,
:21:12. > :21:14.did a great job. We will leave you cuddling your trophy. Let's hear
:21:15. > :21:21.from Nico. It seems that when everybody else was fighting at the
:21:22. > :21:26.end, you were struggling more. Yes, because from the pit lane, I had to
:21:27. > :21:33.fight. I was driving behind cars and behind the safety car. Initially,
:21:34. > :21:42.driving in dirty air, it caused a lot of downforce. Therefore,
:21:43. > :21:45.afterwards, I was struggling. We are joined by Daniel Ricciardo. Finally
:21:46. > :21:52.some points in the can after what seemed right and eventful race. It
:21:53. > :21:55.was eventful but in a good way. Really exciting from start to
:21:56. > :22:05.finish. The first lap, there was a lot going on. And then it seems by
:22:06. > :22:11.the third stint, it was particularly exciting. Battles in front and
:22:12. > :22:13.behind. As a racer, those are the races you enjoy. As a spectator, we
:22:14. > :22:18.also enjoyed it. races you enjoy. As a spectator, we
:22:19. > :22:24.also Some great wheel to wheel action. What was the area that you
:22:25. > :22:28.really found best to use your car? This is with Magnussen in turn ten.
:22:29. > :22:32.really found best to use your car? This is with Magnussen in The option
:22:33. > :22:39.was performing well. We had good traction. As you can see, I think as
:22:40. > :22:42.the race went on with low fuel... And the team recognised you were
:22:43. > :22:49.running faster than Sebastian and he got out of the way. I think you had
:22:50. > :22:53.already made the radio call. I think basically we needed to make a
:22:54. > :23:02.decision. It was either pit and do something... This was great with
:23:03. > :23:05.Kimi Raikkonen. We have to make the decision whether to go in the pit or
:23:06. > :23:11.overtake him. We were on different tyres. We had to do something. And I
:23:12. > :23:19.think we made the right call today. A lot of fun. Do you feel as though
:23:20. > :23:22.the 2014 campaign has started? I think on the scoreboard, definitely,
:23:23. > :23:27.but personally, I think it was underway in Melbourne. Ever since,
:23:28. > :23:30.it has been good. Personally, I have been happy with the first three
:23:31. > :23:36.races but this one, yeah, this was the most fun. With the points on the
:23:37. > :23:46.board, you could say it has got underway. ! . . Some tough times on
:23:47. > :23:50.track. What do you make of all that? Think it was a busy race, especially
:23:51. > :24:02.after the safety car. A shame that I could not get further up. Obviously,
:24:03. > :24:06.there was more to get. Could not really gets to that bit. I cannot
:24:07. > :24:10.happy with my day. For some reason, we seems to be very slow down the
:24:11. > :24:15.straights, not just against the Mercedes owner but also across cars.
:24:16. > :24:20.I am not that kind of guy that wants to find a reason for everything.
:24:21. > :24:25.Even though I am a racing driver. But yes, it is simply not good
:24:26. > :24:30.enough today. Not good enough today but the racing was spectacular.
:24:31. > :24:33.Throughout the field, what an incredible day. The absolutely
:24:34. > :24:39.spectacular from the word go. The two Mercedes, Juliet out. That
:24:40. > :24:44.continued all the way through to the last quarter but up and down the
:24:45. > :24:50.field, some excellent battles. This was a great game to watch to
:24:51. > :24:54.understand what the modern race can be like. I have to say, it was a
:24:55. > :24:59.very high-risk strategy, the Mercedes. Do you not think, David?
:25:00. > :25:05.They were significantly quicker than anybody else. So close, as we see
:25:06. > :25:09.there. That could easily have put both cars out of the race. Sergio
:25:10. > :25:14.Perez would have ended up winning. The most senior person there this
:25:15. > :25:17.evening was Andy Logue, who delivered the same message to both
:25:18. > :25:21.drivers. We want to get the cars to the finish. Beyond that, you them
:25:22. > :25:25.race and what a treat. Lewis Hamilton, this was one of the many
:25:26. > :25:33.attempts at Nico Rosberg tried in transport. -- turned four. It set it
:25:34. > :25:39.up for an exciting season. Despite the fact that the Mercedes were
:25:40. > :25:43.pretty much able to win this. From my point of view, it was excellent
:25:44. > :25:50.racing. Lewis had to pull everything out of the bag to keep Rosberg
:25:51. > :25:54.behind. The was no way that Rosberg was going to give him a pass but
:25:55. > :25:59.likewise, it is certainly no way that Lewis Hamilton was going to let
:26:00. > :26:03.Rosberg take this victory. It was Doggett and determined but not so
:26:04. > :26:09.great for the other teams. Ryrie were slow and McLaren did not have a
:26:10. > :26:12.good day. Two non-finishes for McLaren and we have not seen that
:26:13. > :26:17.for a while. Disappointment in a country where they have ownership. A
:26:18. > :26:25.difficult time for them, and worrying for Ryrie, who did not have
:26:26. > :26:30.any pace. Do not know... With the manager in attendance, it is not
:26:31. > :26:36.what you would expect. Certainly a worrying moment for Gutierrez, after
:26:37. > :26:40.he got hit by Maldonado. Maldonado, after he turned into the corner,
:26:41. > :26:47.came down the inside. Too fast, it looked like. The cotton. What was
:26:48. > :26:52.that, he said. He had no idea. This is a better view. He turns and flips
:26:53. > :26:59.him. He was very lucky. Even though it was only 40 miles an hour, to
:27:00. > :27:02.flip over like that is never fun. Certainly not. And it is worth
:27:03. > :27:09.saying that he has passed the medical tests, but he has been taken
:27:10. > :27:12.to hospital just for a precaution. This is an example of where the team
:27:13. > :27:17.should have told him that there was a car coming out of the pits. Maybe
:27:18. > :27:21.this is a bit of an experience from the server team. Let's take a look
:27:22. > :27:25.at the results. First place for Lewis Hamilton. Nico Rosberg in
:27:26. > :27:35.second and Sergio Perez on the podium. It leaves the standing
:27:36. > :27:44.looking like this. People Rosberg, still leading, but Lewis was in the
:27:45. > :27:48.-- closing the gap. In terms of the constructors championships, it is
:27:49. > :27:52.Mercedes all the way. Force India jump ahead and Red Bull are now in
:27:53. > :27:56.fourth place. So we will be back in a fortnight, for China. All the
:27:57. > :28:04.highlights for you on Saturday and Sunday. As the lights go down in the
:28:05. > :28:08.desert, the spotlight is on Lewis Hamilton, who stormed its today in
:28:09. > :28:10.the desert. He wanted a race and he got one. It was wheeled the wheel
:28:11. > :28:28.action. More of that, please. MUSIC: 'Thriller' by Michael
:28:29. > :28:59.Jackson. Next time on Formula 1... Race four,
:29:00. > :29:02.Shanghai, China.
