:01:11. > :01:16.championship brings us to the home of the British Grand Prix.

:01:17. > :01:20.Conditions are going to make life difficult and it could change the

:01:21. > :01:29.way we see cars running throughout the session. What has Hamilton done

:01:30. > :01:36.here? It is fastest at the moment. It looks good for Hamilton. The

:01:37. > :01:41.session is coming to an end. It does not look as if there will be any

:01:42. > :01:58.changes. Hulkenberg has gone fastest estimation! Hamilton is sick! Why

:01:59. > :02:08.did you come in at the end? I do not have much of an answer for you.

:02:09. > :02:12.Lewis Hamilton is going to start in the sixth at Silverstone. If he is

:02:13. > :02:17.going to win the British Grand Prix, it is going to be an amazing race.

:02:18. > :02:26.Away we go and Hamilton going on the outside. Oh, my goodness. It is

:02:27. > :02:32.Raikkonen. A red flag, the race has been completely stopped. After an

:02:33. > :02:39.hour's delay, Nico Rosberg has launched himself away. Is he going

:02:40. > :02:44.to give him the space? Hamilton takes second place from Jenson

:02:45. > :02:52.Button. Ricciardo has to go defensive. What a brilliant move

:02:53. > :02:58.from Fernando Alonso. Rosberg is in trouble and Lewis Hamilton leads the

:02:59. > :03:05.British Grand Prix. Rosberg is out. Bottas is in second place. A massive

:03:06. > :03:11.cheer has gone up all around Silverstone. Hamilton is going to

:03:12. > :03:22.win the British Grand Prix. He wins for the second time. England! I am

:03:23. > :03:26.sorry about yesterday, but I cannot be happier. It is a very special day

:03:27. > :03:32.for a Lewis Hamilton. And a very special day for British

:03:33. > :03:36.bands. This week and it is the German Grand Prix and this year we

:03:37. > :03:42.are in Hockenheim. Hello and welcome to qualifying. This is going to be

:03:43. > :03:49.hot stuff. 38 degrees, is it hot enough for you? More than hot enough

:03:50. > :03:54.for me and for the drivers it will be a huge challenge and they have to

:03:55. > :03:59.control the brake temperatures and from the relative cool of

:04:00. > :04:05.Silverstone to the heat here. The tyres need to be chilled. They can

:04:06. > :04:10.operate in these temperatures, the track temperature is below 60, but

:04:11. > :04:14.the performance drops off incredibly. To manage how you get

:04:15. > :04:20.the best out of the tyres on one lap is a huge challenge. We alternate

:04:21. > :04:23.this Grand Prix between Nuremberg and Hockenheim, but the track is

:04:24. > :04:29.different now to help it was in 2001. The change is massive. There

:04:30. > :04:35.have been a lots of big changes over the years. The stadium section still

:04:36. > :04:41.remains. It is a great thing. You can see the outline of the old track

:04:42. > :04:47.in amongst the forest. They are giving it back to the forest. To

:04:48. > :04:53.nature. But I think nature enjoyed racing cars going out amongst the

:04:54. > :04:59.trees! We have a much shorter, modified race track, but it retains

:05:00. > :05:03.the infield section and hopefully we will have a full grandstand on

:05:04. > :05:09.Sunday and it is a great space for the drivers to show their skills and

:05:10. > :05:13.to display the cars. It has been a couple of weeks since the last race

:05:14. > :05:19.at Silverstone. Here is the news with Tom Clarkson.

:05:20. > :05:23.As weeks ago, the last one has been pretty good for Nico Rosberg. He

:05:24. > :05:27.married his girlfriend, he watched Germany win the World Cup and he

:05:28. > :05:33.signed a new contract for a Mercedes. Which was the most

:05:34. > :05:38.memorable? I have to be careful. Definitely the marriage. That was

:05:39. > :05:41.the most emotional experience. There is good news from Kimi Raikkonen who

:05:42. > :05:47.has reported no lasting physical damage from this massive crash at

:05:48. > :05:52.Silverstone two weeks ago. According to his team-mate Fernando Alonso,

:05:53. > :05:58.there are reasons for them to feel pretty confident. I won three times

:05:59. > :06:04.in Hockenheim and two times in Nuremberg. Every time I come to

:06:05. > :06:10.Germany is good news. Rarely do we get through a season without a

:06:11. > :06:14.technical controversy and 2014 is no different. The issue in Hockenheim

:06:15. > :06:20.is front and rear interconnected suspension. The FIA has advised

:06:21. > :06:31.teams not to run it. There is a rule called Article and there is a belief

:06:32. > :06:37.now that this system had gone across that line and are overly affecting

:06:38. > :06:44.the aerodynamics, rather than the suspension behaviour. Take a look at

:06:45. > :06:49.these low profile, 18 inch wheels from a rally. They made their debut

:06:50. > :06:55.at the Silverstone test with a view to replacing the 13 inch rims in

:06:56. > :06:59.years to come. There was a discussion and people were talking

:07:00. > :07:05.about 18 or 19 inches and I thought, rather than talk about it,

:07:06. > :07:10.show the world what it looks like. It was not a technological

:07:11. > :07:15.discussion, it was making it more relevant to what people see on a

:07:16. > :07:19.road car. The objective is linked with other discussions about what

:07:20. > :07:26.Formula One should look like in the future. New management has made

:07:27. > :07:31.it's presence felt at caterer. People have been made redundant, but

:07:32. > :07:40.there is good news on the horizon. We are working hard on a new car.

:07:41. > :07:44.Next week we are running already the new car with upgrades to be planned.

:07:45. > :07:51.We are working and pushing very hard. David, no Fricke system this

:07:52. > :07:58.weekend and Red Bull have closed the gap to Mercedes a bit. Is that to do

:07:59. > :08:03.with this technological change? It is impossible to know for sure, but

:08:04. > :08:08.the nature of this track lends itself to the Red Bull car. That

:08:09. > :08:12.said, the track temperatures are very different to other venues.

:08:13. > :08:17.There are still a few answers to be had. For the drivers it must feel

:08:18. > :08:24.different without that system in place. It is no different to

:08:25. > :08:29.changing compound of tyres. With a super-soft you have got more grip

:08:30. > :08:33.and it degrades, so drivers adapt. Taking this Fricke system of the

:08:34. > :08:39.cars, it is a feeling they have to drive with. And Susie Wolff did that

:08:40. > :08:42.on Friday in free practice one and it was more successful than

:08:43. > :08:49.Silverstone. At Silverstone she got no running at all. She is a talented

:08:50. > :08:54.racing driver, no question about it. There were murmurings that it was

:08:55. > :08:59.all about because she was a lady, but she did a fantastic job. She is

:09:00. > :09:05.probably not the next Lewis Hamilton, but very few are. What is

:09:06. > :09:11.next for her? It will be difficult to convert that into a full-time

:09:12. > :09:15.race drive, but she is focusing on Formula One and is contributing to

:09:16. > :09:21.the women's team and is delivering. Let's have a look at how the

:09:22. > :09:25.championship looks. That win for a Lewis Hamilton closed the gap at the

:09:26. > :09:47.top. The difference is now just four points.

:09:48. > :10:00.Daniela Ricciardo is the only one to win for Red Bull. He is outshining

:10:01. > :10:06.his team-mate Sebastien battle. Sebastien Vettel, the world

:10:07. > :10:12.champion! The new world champion. 2012 world champion. Sebastien

:10:13. > :10:22.battle is the 20 13th world champion. Yes, yes, I lost drive,

:10:23. > :10:28.tell me what to do. His weekend and his season goes from bad to worse.

:10:29. > :10:33.It has been a tough start, but how are you feeling? It has been a tough

:10:34. > :10:37.start and a rough season so far, but Formula One can be very nice and

:10:38. > :10:45.fantastic, but it can be also very cruel in a matter of retiring

:10:46. > :10:51.because of technical problems, but that is part of the game. The four

:10:52. > :10:56.times world champion's miserable season continues. How are you

:10:57. > :11:01.feeling in terms of comfort in the car. In qualifying you were the one

:11:02. > :11:04.to fear and over one lap you had speed and you could put it all

:11:05. > :11:10.together. We have not seen that so much this year. Why is that? The

:11:11. > :11:16.four times world champion has failed to get into the top ten. So far

:11:17. > :11:21.things have not come our way yet, but I am confident they will. We are

:11:22. > :11:26.still trying to understand the car and we believe we can improve it, so

:11:27. > :11:31.we are testing things. Some things work and some things do not. To be

:11:32. > :11:37.fair, some laps were good and other laps I was messing up. It is not as

:11:38. > :11:46.constant and as regular as in the past. I have one quote from a very

:11:47. > :11:50.good friend who said, forget the people around you right now,

:11:51. > :11:55.remember the little boy that you were racing in go-karts and what you

:11:56. > :12:01.were dreaming of and what he wanted to achieve one day and what was his

:12:02. > :12:04.goal. Race for him. I fell in love with the sport and the amount of

:12:05. > :12:13.satisfaction I get from going around in a Formula One car makes me

:12:14. > :12:16.smile. If you had to pick between doing that or doing nothing, even

:12:17. > :12:25.with the bad days, you would choose that. Daniela Ricciardo takes his

:12:26. > :12:28.first ever win. He wins in Canada. There is respect between yourself

:12:29. > :12:33.and Daniel. You were the first to congratulate him. How different is

:12:34. > :12:41.the atmosphere in the garage this year from last year? To be honest

:12:42. > :12:48.there was a lot of talk, but it is true to say we were not best

:12:49. > :12:54.friends. In that regard on a personal basis I have a better

:12:55. > :13:01.relationship to Daniel, but even in the worst times we were talking to

:13:02. > :13:06.each other and pushing the team forward. In that regard nothing has

:13:07. > :13:10.changed. Danny has a different way to do things because he is a

:13:11. > :13:16.different height. I respect a lot what he is doing. The highlight was

:13:17. > :13:21.Montr?al and there was no point ruining his day saying everything

:13:22. > :13:25.went wrong. I love to win more than anything else, but equally we have

:13:26. > :13:30.to respect what other guys are doing. Do you think the next time

:13:31. > :13:35.you win will see more special because we almost got used to that

:13:36. > :13:43.happening? Winning is always special. Sebastien Vettel equals one

:13:44. > :13:48.of the oldest record in Formula One, nine consecutive Grand Prix wins.

:13:49. > :13:52.The level of satisfaction you get when you know you have done a good

:13:53. > :13:56.job, you get the reward with the trophy and a few sips of champagne

:13:57. > :14:04.on the podium and that is one of the best feelings in the world people

:14:05. > :14:10.cheering. In a way I am addicted to that and I want to get that feeling

:14:11. > :14:14.sooner rather than later. A very laid-back Sebastien Vettel talking

:14:15. > :14:18.to Lee McKenzie. What positives would you take from that? How

:14:19. > :14:24.relaxed he is and how he is enjoying the fact even though he is not

:14:25. > :14:29.winning, he has had an amazing four years with back-to-back

:14:30. > :14:33.championships. We have seen frustration come through on his

:14:34. > :14:36.other interviews on track, but at the moment he is reflecting on

:14:37. > :14:44.enjoying the moment and building the team up again. Do you see him

:14:45. > :14:49.winning again? Daniel won in Canada, so Mercedes have fragility in the

:14:50. > :14:54.system. In terms of winning on his home turf, that is unlikely. But

:14:55. > :14:59.during the course of the year, if Renault keep developing, why not.

:15:00. > :15:04.Let's find out what is happening at Ferrari.

:15:05. > :15:09.There is a lot less going on now than there was ten minutes ago. It

:15:10. > :15:16.has been frantic. They have been replacing the fuel pump on Kimi

:15:17. > :15:21.Raikkonen's tire. They have put a new pump in. Ironically his car is

:15:22. > :15:25.in a better state than Fernando Alonso's which is having the

:15:26. > :15:35.finishing touches put to it. It has been busy since the end of FP three.

:15:36. > :15:39.Eriksson had a hydraulics issue. Max Chilton had an fellow conics problem

:15:40. > :15:44.and that is fixed. Adrian Sutil has had a new battery pack put in and

:15:45. > :15:48.now everybody should be ready for the start.

:15:49. > :15:53.Nico Rosberg was fastest this morning and it is very important to

:15:54. > :15:58.qualify well. Seven of the last winners have come from the front row

:15:59. > :16:01.of the grid. We can go to the pit lane and David and Ben are your

:16:02. > :16:30.commentators. Here is Q1. Hockenheim. Who will take the mount

:16:31. > :16:34.of this 17 turn circuit to put themselves in pole position for the

:16:35. > :16:40.race. What you think will take to make it through? I spoke to the

:16:41. > :16:44.engineers and they are saying it is difficult to to predict the cut-off

:16:45. > :16:51.time. Lotus were unusually slow this morning, down in 15th

:16:52. > :16:55.time. Lotus were unusually slow this tenths. Taking an average of what

:16:56. > :17:02.the engineers told me, we have to get to 1.19.5 to be safe.

:17:03. > :17:09.the engineers told me, we have to are confident that they can get out

:17:10. > :17:13.during Q1. I have just had a text message saying still pushing,

:17:14. > :17:18.hopeful to be out before the end of Q1. Max

:17:19. > :17:21.hopeful to be out before the end of done on his car from this

:17:22. > :17:26.hopeful to be out before the end of session. Lewis Hamilton is on a fast

:17:27. > :17:33.lap. We think Mercedes could stick with these tyres and said that

:17:34. > :17:45.super-soft tyres for later. -- and save. What kind of lap time is

:17:46. > :17:51.this? Lewis Hamilton goes fastest. 1.18.6. He was on those softer tyres

:17:52. > :17:59.this morning. That could well be enough. Felipe Massa now coming

:18:00. > :18:03.across the line. He may well have done enough to get through this

:18:04. > :18:13.first part of qualifying and not have to resort to the softer tyres.

:18:14. > :18:25.Nico Rosberg now, pretty much replicating what Jean-Eric Vergne

:18:26. > :18:36.did. TEAM RADIO: slowdown next lap.

:18:37. > :18:41.Well both cars have gone out on the super-soft tyres. About a second

:18:42. > :18:53.difference her lap. They do not have a chance of getting out on the soft.

:18:54. > :18:59.Valtteri Bottas has just gone fastest. The track is not to

:19:00. > :19:08.dissimilar from the layout of the track in Austria.

:19:09. > :19:21.It is a good initial gambit from Valtteri Bottas. Quite a lot more

:19:22. > :19:26.turns on this lap down in Austria. Sebastian Vettel was like fastest

:19:27. > :19:31.this morning. Winner of the German Grand Prix last year of course. And

:19:32. > :19:43.in the past he has had all position here. He goes fifth for the moment.

:19:44. > :19:47.Encouraging. Fastest of all on that last sector. We know that Red Bull

:19:48. > :19:56.have difficulties with their power unit. Maldonado running wide on that

:19:57. > :20:00.turn. There is not an issue with on loading and inside Google, just a

:20:01. > :20:08.question of the drivers being as greedy as they can on the brakes. A

:20:09. > :20:18.question of the drivers being as replay now of Nico Rosberg. Having

:20:19. > :20:26.all sorts of trouble. Goes wide but no penalties for that. That will

:20:27. > :20:34.cost him time. Overtaken by Ferrari. That was not his quick lap. Hamilton

:20:35. > :20:38.currently fastest and Nico Rosberg has not established a lap time at

:20:39. > :20:43.all. He needs to address this. Earlier on today in the third

:20:44. > :20:56.practice session he put in a beautiful lap.

:20:57. > :21:02.The forecast was for rain appearing on Sunday. But that forecast is

:21:03. > :21:13.changing and it may not arrive until Sunday night. In towards Sachskurve.

:21:14. > :21:22.Currently fourth fastest already, Alonso. We can just watch him

:21:23. > :21:29.complete the lap. His sector times are looking slower and he stays

:21:30. > :21:38.fourth for the moment. It is all about getting into the top 16.

:21:39. > :21:41.This was Alonso a moment ago. A little bit wide. But nothing too

:21:42. > :21:48.critical. little bit wide. But nothing

:21:49. > :21:52.The circuit goes slightly left before you go to that high-speed

:21:53. > :21:59.corner. I do not think that would cost him too much time. Hamilton

:22:00. > :22:06.crashes! Hamilton has crashed in qualifying at Hockenheim! And what

:22:07. > :22:14.an unusual sight that is. He just sat fastest first sector. If he has

:22:15. > :22:24.a wheel on the white line of the crass, that would explain that. Very

:22:25. > :22:30.unusual. That accident started to happen as soon as he was braking for

:22:31. > :22:35.that corner. He's second-fastest at the moment. There will be changes of

:22:36. > :22:45.course to that order. He may have got through to the next sector of

:22:46. > :22:53.qualifying. But the car badly damaged. So this could have a

:22:54. > :23:01.massive impact on his qualifying. TEAM RADIO: Lewis, let us know

:23:02. > :23:07.you're OK. I'm OK. The brakes failed.

:23:08. > :23:15.One of the scariest things that can happen in a racing car. Indeed.

:23:16. > :23:22.Clearly shaken. Let us just try to see what

:23:23. > :23:28.happened. That is him coming through at incredibly high speed. Keep it

:23:29. > :23:36.tidy. Took his hands of before. The front

:23:37. > :23:43.left had locked up. There might have been an issue with the recovery

:23:44. > :23:53.system. He pitched into a spin early. You can see a puff of smoke

:23:54. > :24:07.from the brakes. He throws the car in. There is retardation on the

:24:08. > :24:12.front axle. It did lock up when he got on the brakes. If you have

:24:13. > :24:19.pressure in the brake line then a possible cause could be the way that

:24:20. > :24:26.they charge the batteries. Of course using the motor generator unit. That

:24:27. > :24:32.creates a sensation of engine braking effectively. If he had an

:24:33. > :24:34.issue with that that would not give him the retardation that he was

:24:35. > :24:39.expecting. Five consecutive qualifying

:24:40. > :24:50.sessions. Something has gone wrong for Lewis Hamilton. He has been

:24:51. > :25:00.beaten by Nico Rosberg. TEAM RADIO: OK. Three times.

:25:01. > :25:07.The session is about to restart after that accident. Any updates,

:25:08. > :25:16.Tom? A couple. Lewis Hamilton just drove past me in the medical car. He

:25:17. > :25:17.was sacked in the back. He did not even glance at his team as he drove

:25:18. > :25:23.past them. And this stoppage was past them. And this stoppage was

:25:24. > :25:29.good for Caterham. I just had a word with them. They're hoping to get

:25:30. > :25:35.Marcus Ericsson out before the end of Q1.

:25:36. > :25:45.Nico Rosberg first out. He set a very slow lap time. He is not in

:25:46. > :25:49.that top group. He has gone out on the super-soft tyres. Mercedes would

:25:50. > :25:59.have preferred not to use that but they decided not worth taking a

:26:00. > :26:04.gamble. Just get in a decent lap. It is all about getting into the top

:26:05. > :26:08.16. And at the moment Valtteri Bottas is on the top of the timing

:26:09. > :26:25.sheets. Hamilton, his plan for earlier still has him second.

:26:26. > :26:37.I think Nico Rosberg should get out of the drop zone fairly soon.

:26:38. > :26:42.If the engineers had information on some kind of failure in the car,

:26:43. > :26:48.given we are halfway through the season, then you have got the

:26:49. > :26:50.confidence to say that it is an isolated event. From time to time

:26:51. > :26:54.things can fail and isolated event. From time to time

:26:55. > :26:59.fact of life. There would be no reason for them not to send out Nico

:27:00. > :27:06.Rosberg. Lewis Hamilton is in the medical

:27:07. > :27:11.centre. They are checking his knees. There is a limited amount of space

:27:12. > :27:17.of course in the cockpit. He does have leg pads on to stop his knees

:27:18. > :27:29.flapping around. That takes some of the stress of the group. And if you

:27:30. > :27:36.have a crash, then it stops your legs

:27:37. > :27:39.have a crash, then it stops your Rosberg has set the fastest first

:27:40. > :27:42.sector of anyone in this session to date. Coming

:27:43. > :27:48.sector of anyone in this session to up earlier. And all much more

:27:49. > :27:54.controlled up earlier. And all much more

:27:55. > :28:01.He really waits to get onto the power but when he does he get on it

:28:02. > :28:06.solidly and cleanly. This is going to be a very fast lap.

:28:07. > :28:14.Not fastest in that middle sector, surprisingly. That place to the

:28:15. > :28:18.strength of the Mercedes normally. Valtteri Bottas highlighting just

:28:19. > :28:25.how good a lap that was. He has the fastest little sector. But Nico

:28:26. > :28:29.Rosberg goes fastest with a very quick final sector. And now we have

:28:30. > :28:37.some idea of the true pace of the Mercedes. But that is on the

:28:38. > :28:44.super-soft tyres. Sergio Perez now. He could do with a faster lap to

:28:45. > :28:50.make him safe. It has been a quiet weekend so far

:28:51. > :28:55.for Force India through the practice sessions. You sense that this track

:28:56. > :29:02.is just not suiting them. They're somewhat stalled in the development

:29:03. > :29:14.of the car. Cornforth with that lap. -- gone

:29:15. > :29:20.forth. Jensen Button has rarely been

:29:21. > :29:36.outqualified by a team-mate here at Hockenheim. But right now Marcus

:29:37. > :29:42.Ericsson is tense. -- tense. Pretty evenly matched there. Kimi

:29:43. > :29:47.Raikkonen just crossing the line and he is now fifth behind Jenson

:29:48. > :29:52.Button. Plenty more improvements coming through.

:29:53. > :30:00.I was surprised to see so many going out on the super-soft tyres,

:30:01. > :30:11.especially Nico Rosberg. There is no need for him to do that. I can only

:30:12. > :30:14.assume they're trying to save the soft for the race.

:30:15. > :30:25.Seems a bit strange, but there we are. Nico Rosberg safely through.

:30:26. > :30:31.McLaren happy with that lap time on the super-soft tyres. Amongst the

:30:32. > :30:34.front runners it is only Valtteri Bottas who has set the time on the

:30:35. > :30:48.harder compound tyres and sat with that, not done any more. Adrian

:30:49. > :30:56.Sutil with the Sauber. Daniel Ricciardo just a fraction

:30:57. > :31:01.slower. Sebastian Vettel in the first sector, around half a second

:31:02. > :31:09.down on the best sector time of Valtteri Bottas in the middle

:31:10. > :31:19.sector. The Red Bull continuing to lose in certain areas.

:31:20. > :31:26.Nice early drive, short shift. Red Bull second and third. Daniel

:31:27. > :31:31.Brickyard with an edge over his team-mate Sebastian Vettel. Alonso

:31:32. > :31:53.in a bit of danger down in 15th place. This is Romain Grosjean. Has

:31:54. > :32:00.the Lotus got the pace to do it? They have been struggling this

:32:01. > :32:06.weekend. He is 13th, he does it. Good effort by him. Lotus needed

:32:07. > :32:11.something special. He seems to have delivered and it has pushed Adrian

:32:12. > :32:17.Sutil out of the top 16. His team-mate Maldonado is down in 19th,

:32:18. > :32:23.but a very slow first sector. Well over a second and a half down.

:32:24. > :32:36.Because of that mistake in the first sector he will remain in 19th place.

:32:37. > :32:42.Bianchi is 18. The fastest of the Marussias and the Cajuns at this

:32:43. > :32:53.point. Let's see what Kobayashi does. He is not on the pace of

:32:54. > :33:00.Bianchi. Maldonado was not able to do anything. He has seen the

:33:01. > :33:05.chequered flag. These are the ones who have not made it through into

:33:06. > :33:23.the second part of qualifying. But Gutierrez is through. Max Chilton at

:33:24. > :33:25.21. Ericsson failing to get out in the end.

:33:26. > :33:30.Lady luck deserted Lewis Hamilton. These are shots of him coming back

:33:31. > :33:34.into the paddock. He looks fairly shocked by that incident and he is

:33:35. > :33:40.walking slightly gingerly. We now know he is OK. Let's have another

:33:41. > :33:46.look at the incident. You need to look at the front right of the car.

:33:47. > :33:50.He said it felt like a brake failure. We now know the team

:33:51. > :33:56.confirmed a right front disk failure.

:33:57. > :34:02.First and foremost, how are you feeling? I am OK, I am a bit

:34:03. > :34:09.bruised, but OK. What was the damage from the car? Will you be able to

:34:10. > :34:14.start from the grid? I have a feeling it is a pit lane. I will try

:34:15. > :34:21.my hardest to catch up. It is going to be a hard slog from dead last and

:34:22. > :34:26.more, but we will do everything. The second part of qualifying is about

:34:27. > :34:32.to get under way. That is the green light at the end of this pit lane

:34:33. > :34:38.for this 15 minute session. We have now got our 16 runners and we have

:34:39. > :34:43.to narrow them down to top ten. But we know Lewis Hamilton will not be

:34:44. > :34:50.starting in this session, so he will automatically qualify in 16th

:34:51. > :34:56.position. The top 16 are featuring most of the other front runners. The

:34:57. > :35:02.two Williams drivers are looking competitive so far. The cut-off time

:35:03. > :35:07.proved to be pretty accurate, Tom. We knew it was going to be difficult

:35:08. > :35:13.to judge. Have we any way of judging what it will be to get into the top

:35:14. > :35:17.ten? Everyone has revealed their hands a little bit. We saw a lot

:35:18. > :35:30.more super-soft running than we normally do. Let's assume they are

:35:31. > :35:35.running a bit heavy, low 18 for Q3. That is Nico Rosberg's are being

:35:36. > :35:46.prepared to come out. He is going straight back out on a new set of

:35:47. > :35:52.super-soft tyres. With a flying lap on the super-soft he could have

:35:53. > :35:55.considered that. They will be left under the blankets and going through

:35:56. > :36:01.a curing process which will harden the rubber once you have taken them

:36:02. > :36:07.out on the racetrack. This is Hulkenberg where we saw Hamilton go

:36:08. > :36:11.off a little bit earlier on. He has got a double right-hander to finish

:36:12. > :36:18.the lap and he needs a good except to accelerate across the line. We

:36:19. > :36:23.have got the rotating camera on board his car as well so we can

:36:24. > :36:34.enjoy a different view. That was perfectly timed. You can see the

:36:35. > :36:37.tell-tale signs of smoke as he locked the inside right. This is the

:36:38. > :36:42.longest section of locked the inside right. This is the

:36:43. > :36:49.can get up to well over 200 miles an hour as you approach the hairpin.

:36:50. > :36:59.The TRS is shut as a safety feature. Through five absolutely

:37:00. > :37:04.flat out. Get the car as straight as possible for a heavy braking into

:37:05. > :37:10.six. A beautiful apex through there to pull the car back across to the

:37:11. > :37:17.left. This is where it starts to get tricky if you come back to the old

:37:18. > :37:22.circuit. It gets narrow. This is where Lewis Hamilton crashed at the

:37:23. > :37:28.hairpin. A small lock-up as he dropped it down into the apex and up

:37:29. > :37:32.over the rise and he drops down into the second last corner. It is

:37:33. > :37:37.difficult to make a pit entry during the Grand Prix. You have got to keep

:37:38. > :37:46.turning right. A tricky one for the drivers. 18.2. Kimi Raikkonen has

:37:47. > :37:52.been looking a bit more comfortable today. Let's see if he can continue

:37:53. > :38:01.that. Not all the drivers try and tuck into the apex.

:38:02. > :38:10.that. Not all the drivers try and it in for best attraction

:38:11. > :38:25.town. Felipe Massa has gone fastest. Now Bottas goes quickest. It is

:38:26. > :38:36.three tenths faster than Rosberg. Hulkenberg is happy with lap. There

:38:37. > :38:44.is not a big difference between them. Alonso is currently fourth.

:38:45. > :38:46.Followed by Hulkenberg, them. Alonso is currently fourth.

:38:47. > :38:51.and Gutierrez. It is about them. Alonso is currently fourth.

:38:52. > :38:56.ten. We are waiting for a number of cars to set their first lap. Daniel

:38:57. > :39:00.Ricciardo got quite close to the Mercedes, but has not looked quite

:39:01. > :39:06.so competitive against them today so far. Keeping it as tidy as possible.

:39:07. > :39:17.Rosberg moves over to the right. far. Keeping it as tidy as possible.

:39:18. > :39:22.Traffic through the kink at five. Grosjean in the Lotus keeps it tidy

:39:23. > :39:27.at five and six. It is surprising the drop-down force we have seen

:39:28. > :39:33.this season, the amount of lift the drivers are having to do as they go

:39:34. > :39:39.through the kink at seven. They are using all the road. He gets wide

:39:40. > :39:46.over the back of the kerb. An excellent hairpin. Sector wise he is

:39:47. > :39:52.not the fastest. Red Bull are losing out in the middle sector as we have

:39:53. > :39:56.seen already. He is fifth fastest with that behind Alonso. Red Bull

:39:57. > :40:02.and Ferrari have both been very close to each other. Button is

:40:03. > :40:11.sixth. Let's see what Sebastien Vettel is doing. This lap is quicker

:40:12. > :40:18.than Daniel Ricciardo. Let's see whether he finishes it off that way.

:40:19. > :40:23.Is he going to be Alonso? Yes, you goes third and splits the two

:40:24. > :40:29.Williams. That is a quick lap by Sebastien Vettel. The fastest man of

:40:30. > :40:33.all in that last sector. There is a feeling that Red Bull had their

:40:34. > :40:38.handle on that performance yesterday, but they lost it in the

:40:39. > :40:43.cooler conditions this morning. But any changes they have made, they

:40:44. > :40:56.have dialled it back in again. Jenson Button is struggling in

:40:57. > :41:14.eighth place. Gutierrez is in 12th. JENSON Button: Traffic with the

:41:15. > :41:20.Lotus. RADIO: We saw that. Trying to get solidly in the top ten,

:41:21. > :41:30.Hulkenberg. He needs a bit more of a timing improvement. It is very close

:41:31. > :41:40.between Jenson Button, him and Daniil Kvyat. There is not much of

:41:41. > :41:47.the drivers can do in sector two. It is pretty much a straight line. This

:41:48. > :41:51.is called the Mercedes Stadium. But the real place of influence is Turn

:41:52. > :41:57.1 and where we are right now, coming into the last sector. We saw a

:41:58. > :42:04.lock-up, but we saw that before with Hulkenberg. Nice control and through

:42:05. > :42:13.the left. A small lift into the last time. He is up on his own personal

:42:14. > :42:18.time, so this should improve. He is up into eighth, but he is in that

:42:19. > :42:23.tight group. That is his qualifying finish. Now he has to wait and see

:42:24. > :42:30.and hear from his engineer as to whether it will be enough. Others

:42:31. > :42:39.will be looking for improvement to get into the top ten to get both

:42:40. > :42:44.Ferraris in there. There is track improvement. We need to do the lap.

:42:45. > :42:54.Ferrari have picked up that the track is doing better lap times.

:42:55. > :43:01.Felipe Massa is third, within two tenths of a second of Rosberg's

:43:02. > :43:07.time. On board with Kimi Raikkonen. Down to the hairpin. That is a bit

:43:08. > :43:13.of a lock-up. Sometimes you cannot lose too much by missing the apex,

:43:14. > :43:18.but he braked a bit too deeply there. He was not able to turn the

:43:19. > :43:23.car into the corner as early as he would have liked to. He has not

:43:24. > :43:28.looked comfortable at all on the brakes this year, especially in the

:43:29. > :43:34.Ferrari. He does not seem to be getting into the field he is looking

:43:35. > :43:40.for. Up ahead of him is Daniil Kvyat. A little bit wide through the

:43:41. > :43:54.hairpin which results on him getting higher on the kerb. RADIO: We are

:43:55. > :43:59.getting downgraded. It is not enough Raikkonen. He is 11 and he has got

:44:00. > :44:07.nothing left. Kimi Raikkonen crossed the line before the flag but the

:44:08. > :44:13.tyres will not be up for it. Daniel Ricciardo is sixth, so he does not

:44:14. > :44:21.improve much. Sebastien Vettel has qualified him this occasion. Jenson

:44:22. > :44:26.Button on the bubble in 10th. The back end of the car is sliding

:44:27. > :44:34.around. A clear sign of lack of downforce. There is no change. He is

:44:35. > :44:44.in danger territory. Jean-Eric Vergne is on a pretty good lap. He

:44:45. > :44:49.does not do it. Jenson Button is safe for the moment. Perez might be

:44:50. > :44:56.able to do it. It is his only lap because he had not already

:44:57. > :45:01.established a lap time. He does it! He pushes Button out at the

:45:02. > :45:09.last-gasp. Eating his former team-mate, Jenson Button, and it is

:45:10. > :45:13.just enough for him. Daniil Kvyat is night, in the top ten and he has

:45:14. > :45:20.beaten his team-mate Jean-Eric Vergne. In terms of rookie honours

:45:21. > :45:24.you have to say he is doing a fine job. But Magnussen has also very

:45:25. > :45:34.easily got into the top ten and crashed his team-mate Jenson Button.

:45:35. > :45:38.Disappointment for Jenson Button. Two world champions not through to

:45:39. > :45:42.Q3, Kimi Raikkonen and Jenson Button.

:45:43. > :45:46.You were pipped at the post by Sergio Perez or knock you out, you

:45:47. > :45:53.were so close. Did you think you would go through? Not really after

:45:54. > :45:58.my laps. I have struggled all week, which is a shame because I like it

:45:59. > :46:03.here. But I struggled to find the right balance this weekend. What

:46:04. > :46:08.will you do tomorrow to improve on that? It should be cooler tomorrow,

:46:09. > :46:12.so it should be good for us. In the hot conditions yesterday we

:46:13. > :46:22.struggled on the long runs, so hopefully with cooler conditions we

:46:23. > :46:29.will be better. Was that the best you could have done under the

:46:30. > :46:36.circumstances? I just could not get the lap. I was sliding into corners

:46:37. > :46:42.and lost a lot of time. What can you do for the race tomorrow? We will

:46:43. > :46:50.have to see. The third session of qualifying gets

:46:51. > :46:56.underway here at Hockenheim. Who is going to end up on pole position?

:46:57. > :47:01.Nico Rosberg very much favourite. Fastest in both Q1 and Q2. Lewis

:47:02. > :47:06.Hamilton no longer a part of the equation as a result of that brake

:47:07. > :47:11.problem which sent him down into the barrier. And no British drivers

:47:12. > :47:16.fighting in this top ten. It is a long time since we have had a

:47:17. > :47:23.British driver in the top ten shoot out. I think there have been 18

:47:24. > :47:28.occasions in the past where a British driver has taken pole

:47:29. > :47:40.position in a German Grand Prix but it is not going to happen today.

:47:41. > :47:44.Tom, what news from the pit lane? Well it is very calm. All the

:47:45. > :47:51.drivers just getting their thoughts together for the Q3 session. I was

:47:52. > :47:56.looking at Nico Rosberg earlier and wondering what the absence of Lewis

:47:57. > :48:07.Hamilton, how that will affect his attitude to the session. He might

:48:08. > :48:14.just be going for bankers now. While the pressure is off. That team

:48:15. > :48:21.battle is there irrespective of whether you are at the back or front

:48:22. > :48:27.of the grid. One of those two is going to be world champion and

:48:28. > :48:32.normal conditions. To have such a lead in the points. So it does take

:48:33. > :48:36.pressure off. It will be interesting to see that affects his focus. In

:48:37. > :48:41.many cases you just have that absolute focus and the pressure that

:48:42. > :48:47.goes with it. And you're not consciously aware of

:48:48. > :48:50.goes with it. And you're not doing. It is subconscious decisions

:48:51. > :48:54.and reactions. A bit like a tennis player when you have got an easy

:48:55. > :49:12.smash. Sometimes be missed the ball because they have had too long to

:49:13. > :49:20.think about it. -- they miss. Another great races from Sergio

:49:21. > :49:28.Perez. He looked after his tyres and came through the order. He has been

:49:29. > :49:35.able to do that this year. You can hear that big lift which we

:49:36. > :49:46.are not really used to. Just shows that the cars are

:49:47. > :49:58.struggling with the downforce. Fastest time three seconds slower

:49:59. > :50:06.than before. He goes fastest for the moment. I'm

:50:07. > :50:11.used set of super-soft tyres. Not able to show exactly what he can

:50:12. > :50:16.do. I believe that Nico Rosberg is on a brand new set of the super-soft

:50:17. > :50:24.tyres so he goes for it straightaway.

:50:25. > :50:30.A lot of time to think about your braking point down into the

:50:31. > :50:40.hairpin. He comes out of that hairpin. The Williams cars are also

:50:41. > :50:46.on a map. Can they compare to Nico Rosberg? This is where he looked

:50:47. > :50:53.pretty good this morning. Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas almost

:50:54. > :51:02.exactly matched. All nice and tidy so far for Nico

:51:03. > :51:10.Rosberg. He pulls that card to the left before braking down into the

:51:11. > :51:19.second last corner. And that's lap time is quick.

:51:20. > :51:25.1.16.5. Just taking a look at the replay. He used a lot of track but

:51:26. > :51:36.we are not seeing any penalties for that today. Anti-establishes a very

:51:37. > :51:44.tough time to beat. He really attacked that first

:51:45. > :51:51.corner. -- and he establishes. What about Felipe Massa, can he get

:51:52. > :51:59.any faster? This is good for Valtteri Bottas, his credibility

:52:00. > :52:04.rising quickly in Formula one. Still some opportunity for a Felipe Massa.

:52:05. > :52:11.And Daniel Brickyard has put in some brilliant qualifying laps this year.

:52:12. > :52:27.At the moment he's forced behind the Williams. -- fourth.

:52:28. > :52:35.That is a sizeable step forward in performance.

:52:36. > :52:44.Alonso are used set of tyres. Rosberg did use a new set of tyres.

:52:45. > :52:51.When we get to the second run we might see some improvements.

:52:52. > :53:11.Magnusson fourth fastest in the McLaren.

:53:12. > :53:20.Rosberg looking a second off. TEAM RADIO: OK, you just lost time

:53:21. > :53:26.on that lap. Sebastian Vettel comes across the

:53:27. > :53:34.line. He is fast than Daniel Brickyard al. -- faster.

:53:35. > :53:39.line. He is fast than Daniel has just come out on a final new set

:53:40. > :53:44.of tyres. And those team-mates will be trying to outdo each other.

:53:45. > :53:49.Hulkenberg has got the advantage in qualifying this year in terms of who

:53:50. > :53:55.has been ahead of the other in the different qualifying sessions. They

:53:56. > :53:56.both love this circuit and they know it well.

:53:57. > :54:04.different qualifying sessions. They both love this Sergio Perez started

:54:05. > :54:10.his racing career here in Europe. Both of them have done thousands of

:54:11. > :54:17.laps of this Hockenheim circuit. And this is Perez were watching first.

:54:18. > :54:23.-- we are watching. Force India putting the power down

:54:24. > :54:28.reasonably well. Sebastian Vettel comes out of the garage now. It is

:54:29. > :54:43.going to start to get busy out on circuit. Nico Rosberg has just come

:54:44. > :54:46.back out. All out on the new tyres. The top ten have an extra

:54:47. > :54:53.opportunity now with a new set of tyres.

:54:54. > :54:58.We will see quite a few changes I think in the closing moments.

:54:59. > :55:07.A study of concentration in the Williams garage.

:55:08. > :55:14.Williams have had success here at Hockenheim in the past. Can they do

:55:15. > :55:24.anything on this occasion? Felipe Massa goes on to a lap. He qualified

:55:25. > :55:31.second back in 2008. He has never been a winner here at Hockenheim. He

:55:32. > :55:49.finished second in 2006. And also in 2010. That famous radio message

:55:50. > :55:52.about Fernando Alonso. And now relishing the environment at

:55:53. > :56:07.Williams. I think he is the right man for Williams as they are

:56:08. > :56:13.restructuring. The single lap pace is one of his

:56:14. > :56:23.specialities. He has been unlucky, suffering a crash in crack is. And

:56:24. > :56:29.then he had that crash in Canada. In between times he got a good fourth

:56:30. > :56:33.place in Austria. Is this an improvement for Felipe Massa? He is

:56:34. > :56:37.up to third but still behind his team-mate who is on a good lap. The

:56:38. > :56:47.fastest middle sector of anyone in this session so far, Valtteri

:56:48. > :56:56.Bottas. The chequered flag is out. And he stays second. But a great

:56:57. > :57:06.effort. Nico Rosberg still on a lap himself. He was down a little in the

:57:07. > :57:12.first sector. Two tenths slower than his previous best. Just as well he

:57:13. > :57:18.got that lap in earlier. Magnusson is fourth, an excellent effort from

:57:19. > :57:26.the Danish driver. Proving that McLaren have made progress. It is

:57:27. > :57:31.Nico Rosberg who seems to have taken pole position. And Williams have

:57:32. > :57:35.taken second and third on the grid. Another excellent performance from

:57:36. > :57:41.the team. At Nico Rosberg has taken pole position for his other home

:57:42. > :57:46.Grand Prix. His list of the season. They were tied coming into this

:57:47. > :57:50.event at four apiece and now Nico Rosberg has taken the fourth pole

:57:51. > :57:57.and proves himself ahead in that Trophy race. His first ever pole

:58:07. > :58:17.outqualified Lewis Hamilton. TEAM RADIO:. OK, good effort in those

:58:24. > :58:37.is definitely the place to be. It has always been one from the front

:58:50. > :58:53.grid in 15th place. And he will have a tall order to win the race from

:58:54. > :58:59.there. Especially with his team-mate Nico Rosberg grabbing the top spot

:00:22. > :00:27.Congratulations to Nico Rosberg. What a week it has been for you.

:00:28. > :00:29.Congratulations to Nico Rosberg. Only a little annoyed that it was

:00:30. > :00:34.not an open fight with Lewis Hamilton today? Of course I'm happy.

:00:35. > :00:39.It has been a great day and great to be first in front of the home crowd.

:00:40. > :00:44.Of course I'm not ecstatic. I would have been if it had been an open

:00:45. > :00:48.fight with Lewis Hamilton. That is the best when we do have those in

:00:49. > :00:53.qualifying. You had a difficult start to the qualifying session but

:00:54. > :01:02.when you got into the lap it was really clean. Talk us through what

:01:03. > :01:11.you're thinking at this moment? I nailed that one!

:01:12. > :01:17.I thought you said what I was thinking at that moment! It was

:01:18. > :01:21.awesome. It is hard to get that first turn right because it is a

:01:22. > :01:28.narrow a Pax and you only have one shot at it. -- Apex. Then coming

:01:29. > :01:36.into turn six, a little bit wide on the Apex but it does not cost lap

:01:37. > :01:43.time. I know I I have made the most of it in braking. Overheating the

:01:44. > :01:50.tyres on the exit so that was a bit difficult. And now coming into the

:01:51. > :01:57.stadium section. Really fast into that corner. And then this is the

:01:58. > :02:04.most difficult corner on the track. A small lock-up. That is actually

:02:05. > :02:14.the fastest way to do it for me. It gives me some understeer so I just

:02:15. > :02:19.stuck with that and it worked well. S what do you think about the race

:02:20. > :02:26.tomorrow? Could you turn it into the most perfect week of your life ever?

:02:27. > :02:30.Starting from pole position is best placed to be. I need to keep an eye

:02:31. > :02:35.on the Williams and the people behind me, but I have the best car

:02:36. > :02:41.and for the race tomorrow it should be good if I get a good start. It is

:02:42. > :02:45.an important part. I will also keep an eye on Lewis because with the car

:02:46. > :02:52.we have and the way he is driving there is a chance he will make it.

:02:53. > :02:56.The Williams made it from 18 to second at Silverstone, so there is

:02:57. > :03:05.no reason why he cannot come through as well. Nico Rosberg, thank you. A

:03:06. > :03:10.great lap for you today. Could you squeeze any more out of that car? I

:03:11. > :03:16.think that was all there was. It felt like a really good lap. I think

:03:17. > :03:25.today managing the tyres and getting them to the perfect temperature and

:03:26. > :03:31.getting a good sector today has been important and I think I got a good

:03:32. > :03:36.compromise from the tire for the track. What was impressive was the

:03:37. > :03:39.consistency nailing the sectors. Is this one of the strongest

:03:40. > :03:45.performances you have put in this year? It must be, I felt really

:03:46. > :03:50.confident today in the car. We have been working really hard since

:03:51. > :03:55.yesterday with this new suspension. There was an effect with how the car

:03:56. > :04:02.was behaving and we got it better today. I got used to the track. In

:04:03. > :04:07.qualifying it felt nice and consistent and I was able to do it

:04:08. > :04:13.lap by lap. When you say there was a better effect, did that manifested

:04:14. > :04:19.itself in terms of the aerodynamics? There is a bit of a difference to

:04:20. > :04:25.how the balance of the car is changing and on the bumps, how the

:04:26. > :04:29.car is behaving differently. In practice three I still was not

:04:30. > :04:38.completely happy and we made changes and it got better. Does it feel more

:04:39. > :04:43.like you have gone back to a disconnected suspension system? Kind

:04:44. > :04:49.of. It feels more natural about what a car should do in a corner. I do

:04:50. > :04:54.not mind. In the end, once we have already improved a lot I am sure we

:04:55. > :04:59.will still go forward. For as it was another big hit with the rules. We

:05:00. > :05:07.wish you all the best tomorrow. It seems to be coming together.

:05:08. > :05:12.Felipe Massa, congratulations, just beaten by your team-mate. I you

:05:13. > :05:18.happy? Yes, for sure. You always want to be in front, but he did a

:05:19. > :05:23.great lap and we need to concentrate on doing a great race tomorrow. It

:05:24. > :05:27.is a difficult weekend because the temperature is very high and

:05:28. > :05:32.everything can happen in the race, even in the rain. We need to be

:05:33. > :05:39.ready for everything and I hope we can put everything together and we

:05:40. > :05:46.have a good card tomorrow as well. Great to see Kevin Magnussen who

:05:47. > :05:52.will be going from the second road tomorrow. Has the upgrade helped

:05:53. > :05:57.you? Yes, it has. For me the car has been working really well this

:05:58. > :06:02.weekend. We got a new rear wing which came early, so a good job to

:06:03. > :06:06.the guys in the factory for pushing that through. And also to the guys

:06:07. > :06:14.in the garage for getting the most out of it this weekend. We could see

:06:15. > :06:18.your confidence in the car. It was the complete opposite of Jenson

:06:19. > :06:24.Button who was sliding around a lot. Very tidy laps. Talk us around it. I

:06:25. > :06:30.did not think I would be able to improve on Q2, but I am sure the

:06:31. > :06:37.track improved a little bit. I went for it. I had two sets of tyres. The

:06:38. > :06:42.first lap was really good. I tried to give it everything and it worked

:06:43. > :06:48.out. Over 200 miles an hour as you hit the breaking point in to Turn 4.

:06:49. > :06:56.You had a very tight apex. A lot of cars missed that corner. Was that

:06:57. > :07:02.part of your strategy? You want to break late, but if you miss the

:07:03. > :07:07.apex, it costs a lot of time. If you nailed it, there is a lot of time to

:07:08. > :07:12.be gained. This is the old part of the race track and it narrows as you

:07:13. > :07:18.come in here. Yes, this part is the best part of the track. You can

:07:19. > :07:24.really break late and you do not really need to hit the apex. Break a

:07:25. > :07:29.bit too late and you will still be all right. The last bit you need to

:07:30. > :07:35.get power early and it is a really good track. It is a fit lap. There

:07:36. > :07:41.is an incredible amount of Danish support. It must almost be like a

:07:42. > :07:48.home race. Denmark is not far away from here, 900 kilometres, but it is

:07:49. > :07:52.great to see these guys. I know a lot of them. You have given them

:07:53. > :08:01.something to cheer about today. Thank you very much. At sixth place

:08:02. > :08:06.how do you feel after that session? Better than this morning. It was a

:08:07. > :08:11.bit tough, the final round did not come together, but it was a good

:08:12. > :08:16.session. We know that Renault are trying to give you a bit more power.

:08:17. > :08:19.Have they managed to do that? Not as much as we were hoping for. What do

:08:20. > :08:24.you have to do tomorrow to please much as we were hoping for. What do

:08:25. > :08:30.your home fans? Drive a good race. That is always the target. We are

:08:31. > :08:35.not quite sure about the weather tomorrow so it could be anything. We

:08:36. > :08:39.are starting in a reasonable position to do well. Not as relaxed

:08:40. > :08:44.as he was at the start of the show, but frustrated. Not getting as much

:08:45. > :08:50.power as he would have liked. They were promised a few percent increase

:08:51. > :08:53.in power and that is not reflecting in the performance of the car,

:08:54. > :09:01.especially in the middle sector. How frustrating must that be for him

:09:02. > :09:05.halfway through the season? We saw a bit more of Sebastien Vettel at

:09:06. > :09:10.Silverstone with great overtaking. But we need to see more of that.

:09:11. > :09:16.Silverstone was a great performance was two world champions going

:09:17. > :09:20.wheel-to-wheel. Here the card does not seem to be comfortable. He is

:09:21. > :09:25.frustrated with form generally over the course of the year. Although the

:09:26. > :09:29.championship is statistically still possible, he knows this year is

:09:30. > :09:33.about recovering will stop let's get the thoughts of Daniel Ricciardo. It

:09:34. > :09:41.looked like you were happy in that car. Yes, I do not want to get too

:09:42. > :09:47.excited at the fifth. It is not a disaster, but we would love to be in

:09:48. > :09:52.excited at the fifth. It is not a the top three. The lap itself was

:09:53. > :09:57.not too bad. Kevin just pipped me, but the step I made from Q2 up to Q3

:09:58. > :10:02.was good and I do not know what else we could have done. The competition

:10:03. > :10:07.between McLaren and Williams is pretty hot if you take Mercedes out

:10:08. > :10:11.of the running? It is and it is exciting. We

:10:12. > :10:15.of the running? It is and it is are just behind Mercedes,

:10:16. > :10:15.of the running? It is and it is Williams seemed to have done it

:10:16. > :10:20.again today. Williams seemed to have done it

:10:21. > :10:26.interesting. If not the weather, the tyres. Everyone will

:10:27. > :10:31.interesting. If not the weather, the so. Let's have a look at the grid.

:10:32. > :10:35.Nico Rosberg will start from pole position for Mercedes head of the

:10:36. > :11:22.similarly powered Williams of Valterri Bottas.

:11:23. > :11:30.That is the grid for tomorrow's race. Alan has joined as now.

:11:31. > :11:34.Standout performances? Williams maintained that momentum. Valterri

:11:35. > :11:38.Bottas had an excellent run. I was surprised they were so close to

:11:39. > :11:43.Mercedes, but it proves they are going to be strong through the rest

:11:44. > :11:50.of the season. But for me in qualifying, Kevin Magnussen. To pull

:11:51. > :11:54.it into fourth position, and it is not the best card, but he dragged it

:11:55. > :12:00.into his best qualifying performance of the year. That was one of the

:12:01. > :12:05.strong points. Do you agree? You seem to get his confidence back. As

:12:06. > :12:08.his confidence was growing and he was delivering the lap time the

:12:09. > :12:15.opposite was happening to Jenson and he was drifting that carbon like a

:12:16. > :12:18.rally style. The combination of the upgrade and may be taking of the

:12:19. > :12:24.FRIC suspension has played into his hands. Is that because they have

:12:25. > :12:29.been practising different things? I am surprised they gave the upgrades

:12:30. > :12:35.to Kevin Magnussen and not to Jenson Button. He is maybe a bit behind on

:12:36. > :12:40.that. But on this occasion Magnussen grabbed the car, through it around

:12:41. > :12:44.and got it into fourth. More bad luck for a Lewis Hamilton. What are

:12:45. > :12:51.his chances tomorrow? Can he get through? Absolutely, he has got a

:12:52. > :12:56.chance of getting a podium. Williams came from 18th to be second in

:12:57. > :13:02.Silverstone. Why can he not do that here? It will be a bit tough. It

:13:03. > :13:08.will be hard to get up to that position, but they have the straight

:13:09. > :13:14.line speed. I will think that where will play a part and they will

:13:15. > :13:19.decide tonight whether they start on 16th or in the pit lane with all the

:13:20. > :13:26.benefits of being able to change their setup. It feels a bit cooler

:13:27. > :13:32.now. You can listen on radio five live. Thank you very much for

:13:33. > :13:51.watching. Nico Rosberg is in pole position.

:13:52. > :14:03.Hamilton crashes! Hamilton has crashed in qualifying here!
