:00:09. > :00:21.Previously on Formula One. What was that? Lewis Hamilton takes his

:00:22. > :00:28.fourth straight win of 2014. This is Formula One, race number six,

:00:29. > :01:26.Monaco, Monte Carlo. MUSIC: "The Chain" by Fleetwood Mac.

:01:27. > :01:35.Today we are going to make the perfect Monaco Grand Prix. A classic

:01:36. > :01:46.dish I love to cook. Preparation is everything. First, we need a good

:01:47. > :01:55.egg. A sprinkle of drama. A handful of glamour. And a bit of spice will

:01:56. > :02:04.not hurt this dish. Those rich flavours. You have to be careful not

:02:05. > :02:14.to overcook it. You have to get it sizzling. It is dependent on good

:02:15. > :02:19.timing. Bake at 25 degrees for approximately two hours. Not quite

:02:20. > :02:24.25 degrees but this promises to be special. Welcome to the highlights

:02:25. > :02:29.of the most famous and prestigious circuit in the world. And we have

:02:30. > :02:37.some esteemed company. Hello, gentlemen. Sunshine, bastion,

:02:38. > :02:41.passion, Monaco has been rocking. It always dishes up something special

:02:42. > :02:50.and it is no exception this year. It is a strong field and looks like an

:02:51. > :02:57.exciting race. You have won here. What were you like on race morning?

:02:58. > :03:00.This is the biggest pressure. You are already emotionally tired after

:03:01. > :03:05.qualifying, putting so much into keeping off the barriers. Come

:03:06. > :03:12.Sunday, you are more tired than other race tracks. We talked about

:03:13. > :03:16.the perfect Monaco race earlier. We cannot promise that, but it

:03:17. > :03:23.yesterday's controversial qualifying was anything to go by, we could be

:03:24. > :03:28.in for a cracker. Ericsson took too much speed into the corner and

:03:29. > :03:34.Felipe Massa ended up in the barrier, also. Ericsson gets a

:03:35. > :03:42.penalty and Felipe Massa has to settle for 16. Daniel K that damaged

:03:43. > :03:51.his nose but was able to continue. His team-mate was quickest, Vergne,

:03:52. > :04:00.and it was a case of what if? For Red Bull. Daniel Ricciardo made a

:04:01. > :04:04.slight error on his quick lap and starts third. It was a controversial

:04:05. > :04:10.end to qualifying as Nico Rosberg ran off the track, bringing out the

:04:11. > :04:14.yellow flags which meant Lewis Hamilton hat to abort his lap, which

:04:15. > :04:20.had been quick enough pole position until that point. Rosberg was

:04:21. > :04:25.investigated but found not to have breached regulations. That was an

:04:26. > :04:30.uncharacteristic mistake, but you must be relieved to hold onto pole

:04:31. > :04:37.position. I thought it was over in that moment. I excused myself to the

:04:38. > :04:48.team because I thought that was it. I blocked Lewis. Of course, it is a

:04:49. > :04:56.pity from that side but I am happy it worked out. How disappointed were

:04:57. > :05:01.you when you saw the yellow flag? I was on pole position. It does not

:05:02. > :05:09.matter, I should have done it in lap four. Nico said it looked like he

:05:10. > :05:14.went straight on, have you seen it? I have not, I will look into it when

:05:15. > :05:21.I get back. Rosberg gets his second pole position. Expect fireworks with

:05:22. > :05:23.Hamilton alongside. The Red Bull second row will hope to capitalise

:05:24. > :05:44.on any Mercedes dramas. Jenson Button got caught in traffic

:05:45. > :05:52.and had to settle for 12th. Sauber had both cars out in Q1. Ericsson's

:05:53. > :06:00.penalty means that he starts from the pit lane. We have a lot of

:06:01. > :06:06.expectant fans behind us. Yesterday, Rosberg was cleared of wrongdoing,

:06:07. > :06:11.but the controversy set tongues wagging. People saying things about

:06:12. > :06:18.it and the press full of stories about how angry Lewis was and their

:06:19. > :06:21.relationship compared to the situation with Ayrton Senna and

:06:22. > :06:29.Alain Prost. We can look again at the incident. It stems from the last

:06:30. > :06:33.part of qualifying, going to Mirabeau. He locks up the front

:06:34. > :06:39.wheel and goes down the skate road. We had an incident a few years ago

:06:40. > :06:43.with Michael Schumacher. The positioning on the front part, he is

:06:44. > :06:50.at the same angle as the first lap. And still in the same position, he

:06:51. > :06:57.is not off-line. As he starts to break, he will wobble at the

:06:58. > :07:01.steering wheel. He is further to the right, which is better for this

:07:02. > :07:06.corner. But he wobbles and eventually as he gets closer, he has

:07:07. > :07:12.a lock-up and then goes down the escape road. What he did was go all

:07:13. > :07:17.the way to the end of the escape road, so there was no chance to have

:07:18. > :07:23.anybody say he was deliberately blocking the track. What are your

:07:24. > :07:31.thoughts on it? Do you feel it was a mistake? I think it was a mistake. I

:07:32. > :07:40.think the wobble with the driver, it is a sign the car is carrying too

:07:41. > :07:44.much speed. This lap, he was doing seven kilometres an hour quicker

:07:45. > :07:53.than any of his other laps at that stage. I could not see him doing

:07:54. > :07:59.anything wrong like that. Lewis was very annoyed about not getting that

:08:00. > :08:05.Lappin but he said it should have -- his lap in. We can find out more

:08:06. > :08:09.from Toto Wolff. The stewards cleared Nico of wrong doing, what is

:08:10. > :08:18.the mood inside the team? It is good. We are 1-2 on the grid and

:08:19. > :08:24.everybody is happy. What are the drivers like today, happy to see

:08:25. > :08:30.each other? No, I guess they are not happy to see each other. If he is

:08:31. > :08:36.your main competitor for the championship, he is not going to be

:08:37. > :08:41.your best friend. Do you see this race as the defining moment in their

:08:42. > :08:50.relationship? Every race is a defining moment and there is a long

:08:51. > :08:56.way to go. It will be adventurous for the rest of the season. Have you

:08:57. > :09:01.given them any is traction is on the run to Turn 1? You do not need to

:09:02. > :09:06.give instructions, they know they have two score points. You cannot

:09:07. > :09:12.allow yourself to crash out. Even if there is heat in the situation, I am

:09:13. > :09:19.confident you do not need to position it on that. And that is

:09:20. > :09:24.Nico Rosberg, business as usual for him and concentrating for the race

:09:25. > :09:29.ahead. Toto Wolff said they did not need to position themselves the Turn

:09:30. > :09:34.1, but surely you have too. Lewis has made the better start this

:09:35. > :09:38.season. His focus will be on getting his car on the outside of Nico and

:09:39. > :09:45.giving him a choice. You either turn in, or give way. Full marks to Toto

:09:46. > :09:49.Wolff for being honest, not hiding the fact they are being tense within

:09:50. > :09:56.the team. Will it have implications? I think Nico will move

:09:57. > :10:01.to the centre of the track. If there is a move by Lewis, it would be a

:10:02. > :10:07.massive risk. Would he want to take the risk and lose points? I do not

:10:08. > :10:12.think so. He might settle for second and try to do it on the pit stop. I

:10:13. > :10:19.see the potential of these two taking each other out. This is now

:10:20. > :10:26.business. A clutch change overnight for Nico. That is interesting for

:10:27. > :10:31.him. He needs to find out how that clutch works. It might be a concern

:10:32. > :10:36.for him. They have to react to the lights. The rest is mechanical and

:10:37. > :10:45.the rest is human interaction. It will be brilliant to see what they

:10:46. > :10:49.do. Gentle men, thank you. Play the situation up or down, it could be a

:10:50. > :10:54.pivotal moment because the championship is so tight. It could

:10:55. > :11:00.not be any closer. Three points between Nico and Lewis. Hamilton

:11:01. > :11:13.took the lead last time out in Barcelona.

:11:14. > :11:22.Red Bull have some hard work to do in the Constructors' Championship.

:11:23. > :11:31.And there goes Nico onto the grid, which is always packed in Monaco.

:11:32. > :11:37.What is your game plan? The game plan is ready to go and see what

:11:38. > :11:41.unfolds. Hopefully, I will get off the line well. Hopefully I get a

:11:42. > :11:46.good one and race hard and try to stay with the Mercedes. How are you

:11:47. > :11:54.feeling before your first Monaco Grand Prix? OK. We will do our best

:11:55. > :11:58.and see where we are at. You are looking strong around the track,

:11:59. > :12:09.what are your thoughts? I am looking forward to it. The cars in front are

:12:10. > :12:15.clearly faster. The pace compared to Tara Rosso might be similar. I could

:12:16. > :12:26.have some clean air -- Toro Rosso. Not the day you hoped for. What can

:12:27. > :12:29.you do? It is a crazy race and many things can happen. I hope we get an

:12:30. > :12:37.opportunity to get positions and score points. Keeping out of trouble

:12:38. > :12:46.at the start is important. Not easy at the start. The race is not easy.

:12:47. > :12:51.Are you excited? I try not to be. You say there are no team orders,

:12:52. > :12:57.surely you have some control over what is happening at the first

:12:58. > :13:02.corner? Are you completely crazy? There are no team orders. The

:13:03. > :13:09.situation they are in, Lewis, accusing the other one on doing

:13:10. > :13:19.something stupid. I am interested to see what will happen. The gloves are

:13:20. > :13:25.off? They are off and if they hit each other at the first corner, they

:13:26. > :13:29.have a problem with me. 2014 the Monaco Grand Prix, Niki Lauda said

:13:30. > :13:35.there are no team orders for the Mercedes drivers. Hamilton desperate

:13:36. > :13:41.for another win and angry he is not in pop is it. Nico Rosberg, he won

:13:42. > :13:45.here last year and he is in pole position. David and Ben Edwards are

:13:46. > :14:04.the commentary team. Nico Rosberg, aiming to become the

:14:05. > :14:08.third driver in 20 years of racing at Monaco to win back-to-back races

:14:09. > :14:14.and reclaim the championship lead he lost a Hamilton last time out. After

:14:15. > :14:21.qualifying, Hamilton is fired up to continue his race winning sequence.

:14:22. > :14:24.There is bad blood developing between the Mercedes team-mates.

:14:25. > :14:30.There is a problem for Pastor Maldonado getting off the greats.

:14:31. > :14:36.David, that is a poor start again for the Lotus team. When I pass by,

:14:37. > :14:40.he was gathered around the back of his car doing a picture with his

:14:41. > :14:47.mechanics, which I am not sure whether it was an anniversary, but

:14:48. > :14:52.the party has not started well. Who will be first into the first

:14:53. > :14:56.corner, that is the big question. We can get some news from Tom Clarkson,

:14:57. > :15:04.who has been studying data. What is likely to happen? It is very busy in

:15:05. > :15:10.the pit lane will stop I have celebrities streaming past me, only

:15:11. > :15:16.in Monaco. Strategy, it is a one-stop race, the super-soft tyres

:15:17. > :15:22.should get them to Lap 25, may be Lap 30. They wore them put on the

:15:23. > :15:27.soft tyre and try to get through the race on a one-stop strategy. It is

:15:28. > :15:35.about what the engineers called situational awareness. There is a

:15:36. > :15:41.chance of a safety car. The risk of rain is 20%. Pastor Maldonado has

:15:42. > :15:44.been pushed to the end of the pit lane. Most drivers starting on the

:15:45. > :15:54.softer tyres. Nico Hulkenberg in 11 has started on

:15:55. > :16:00.the harder tyres so Force India have a split strategy. Sal bar have split

:16:01. > :16:11.their strategy, Adrian Sutil on a harder tyre -- Sauber. The thing to

:16:12. > :16:16.look out for, nobody has done close to 30 laps on these super soft

:16:17. > :16:20.option tyres so in trying to push it out to the last moment, it will be a

:16:21. > :16:27.journey into the unknown with this compound. That is the Williams, so

:16:28. > :16:33.Rosberg and Hamilton on the front row together. Watch out for Fernando

:16:34. > :16:42.Alonso in fifth. Kimi Raikkonen is sixth. Jean-Eric Vergne is seven.

:16:43. > :16:51.Nico Hulkenberg is on different tyres. There is a gap where

:16:52. > :16:56.Maldonado would have been. And we are seeing Ericsson and Pastor

:16:57. > :17:05.Maldonado ready to take the start of the Monaco grand pre-. -- Grand

:17:06. > :17:09.Prix. Away we go! Is it Rosberg or Hamilton? Good start by Rosberg.

:17:10. > :17:19.What is going on behind Daniel Ricciardo. The Ferrari has gone past

:17:20. > :17:27.and it is Alonso. Daniel Ricciardo losing out at the start. I think it

:17:28. > :17:31.is Kimi Raikkonen. Up front, no doubt about Nico Rosberg, it it is

:17:32. > :17:38.Kimi Raikkonen. A great start, getting ahead of Daniel Ricciardo

:17:39. > :17:42.and Fernando Alonso has lost out. He is normally a fast start. The car

:17:43. > :17:50.turned around and everybody is trying to avoid it. They have all

:17:51. > :17:55.made it past. Significant damage to that car, Force India. That is

:17:56. > :18:04.right, Force India. It is leaking cash it is Nico Hulkenberg or Sergio

:18:05. > :18:07.Perez. -- it is Nico Hulkenberg. The safety car has been called

:18:08. > :18:11.straightaway. Drama on the first lap, nothing new at Monaco. Most of

:18:12. > :18:16.the cars have managed to survive this opening lap. Sergio Perez,

:18:17. > :18:22.there is too much damage to continue. Rosberg this time did get

:18:23. > :18:28.that start right. He has wiped off the front wing, the rest of the car

:18:29. > :18:31.looks all right. It is late in the corner he has had the incident.

:18:32. > :18:39.Side-by-side with his team-mate. This is from behind, the Sauber

:18:40. > :18:46.spins Perez around. He hits the nose on the barrier, which car was that?

:18:47. > :18:51.Is it a McLaren? Sauber. This is the guilty party. Trying to catch up to

:18:52. > :18:57.the back of Nico Hulkenberg. Ready for the restart in Monaco and

:18:58. > :19:07.Rosberg will set the pace as they come round Ras Kass. The green light

:19:08. > :19:10.splashing. -- La Rascasse. Rosberg is chased by his team-mate,

:19:11. > :19:14.Sebastian Vettel was very slow! He is in trouble! Timmy Reichmann is in

:19:15. > :19:21.third! Something has gone wrong is in trouble! Timmy Reichmann is in

:19:22. > :19:27.the restart -- Kimi Raikkonen. Very unusual. Back-up the something to do

:19:28. > :19:32.with the recovery system. A lot of power -- that could be something. A

:19:33. > :19:34.wounded car, Sebastian Vettel. Robinson qualifying yesterday with

:19:35. > :19:43.the electrical Robinson qualifying yesterday with

:19:44. > :19:50.problems. I cannot see a the display. -- he had problems. -- the

:19:51. > :19:56.gear display. There is still no power. It is in reset mode. Tom,

:19:57. > :20:02.this looks more serious than in qualifying. Christian Horner told as

:20:03. > :20:10.it was costing him maybe 10% of the lap. We can see this is far more

:20:11. > :20:14.serious. So very bad news for Sebastian Vettel and I work you view

:20:15. > :20:21.and update as soon as I can. The four times World Champion's

:20:22. > :20:27.miserable season continues. -- I will give you an update. Nico

:20:28. > :20:32.Rosberg reads as they come around to complete four laps, a couple behind

:20:33. > :20:40.safety cars -- reads. This is a 78 lap race. Sebastian Vettel rings up

:20:41. > :20:46.the rear, it is unlikely he will get back into the race -- rings. He

:20:47. > :20:49.cannot do anything to get the car on track as he makes his way towards

:20:50. > :20:59.the pit. Come on, guys! I am sure you are

:21:00. > :21:02.trying everything. Even in one conversation, you can

:21:03. > :21:08.hear the frustration and the fact that he knows how hard the team is

:21:09. > :21:13.working. You saw the mechanic walking away with the victory sign,

:21:14. > :21:19.he is telling the start and it is in position to allow the car to be

:21:20. > :21:25.restarted. He is still in the pit box so he is not rejoining. Hamilton

:21:26. > :21:28.is putting the pressure on Rosberg. That section into the first part is

:21:29. > :21:33.what Hamilton has been focused on this weekend and that entry, you can

:21:34. > :21:38.carry speed. He has been particularly aiming to increase the

:21:39. > :21:44.speed. It might have been an overtaking opportunity. This will be

:21:45. > :21:50.working Hamilton town -- Hamilton's tyres car. He will be coming out in

:21:51. > :21:57.front of the race leaders in time to get blue flags. Look out for Kimi

:21:58. > :22:07.Raikkonen passing him. The pit lane for safety rejoins the circuit on

:22:08. > :22:15.the inside of Saints to vote. -- St Devote Corner. It is not getting any

:22:16. > :22:27.better. The two Mercedes pulling away from Kimi Raikkonen in third,

:22:28. > :22:36.Alonso is there. -- is in fifth. Jenson Button is in 10th place.

:22:37. > :22:44.Felipe Massa is 12. Gutierrez ahead of Kamui Kobayashi. So he reads the

:22:45. > :22:48.group of Marussia, in 14th, a good position for a Caterham so early in

:22:49. > :22:53.the race. An opportunity for Marussia and Caterham to score a

:22:54. > :23:00.significant result. On board with Hamilton here. He has to drop back

:23:01. > :23:07.slightly as he goes through. He is struggling. I did wonder if it was a

:23:08. > :23:19.McLaren, it was Jenson Button on the opening lap. Jenson Button, I think

:23:20. > :23:24.you definitely did pit Perez round but whether the stewards feel it

:23:25. > :23:29.could have been avoided remains to be seen. Back to this battle out

:23:30. > :23:34.front, Rosberg is in prime position regarding track position and the

:23:35. > :23:37.view of the road ahead. It is difficult to follow another car

:23:38. > :23:41.closely because you look at the driver's head and you cannot see

:23:42. > :23:49.over the barrier to where you want so there is uncertainty. The lower

:23:50. > :23:53.speed corners is where Lewis will bond shop, expect to see him doing

:23:54. > :24:03.that into the chicane and he has to drop back -- he will bulge up.

:24:04. > :24:07.Rosberg was in this situation recently, fending off all

:24:08. > :24:13.challenges. Hamilton dropped back partly because of a safety car. He

:24:14. > :24:23.has got more gears now, Sebastian Vettel. Sebastian, retire the car,

:24:24. > :24:29.ringgit act to the pits. -- ringed it back. He is doing exactly that.

:24:30. > :24:33.He responds immediately. -- bring it back. It is all over for Sebastian

:24:34. > :24:38.Vettel, his second non-finish of the season, like Hamilton, he retired

:24:39. > :24:43.early in the Australian Grand Prix with power unit problems and it is

:24:44. > :24:48.an electrical problem that has affected him again. This new era of

:24:49. > :24:54.Formula 1 with these hybrid engines, they have been very reliable, they

:24:55. > :24:57.have not been causing as many retirements as we expected, but this

:24:58. > :25:03.is a significant retirement. Sebastian Vettel is out of the

:25:04. > :25:11.Monaco Grand Prix of 2014. There is a move on Romain Grosjean by the

:25:12. > :25:21.cell block of Adrian Sutil. That is at Mirabeau. He had no choice. He is

:25:22. > :25:29.out. In the pit lane. He was running solid top ten. A shame, he did a

:25:30. > :25:34.great job in his first time to Monaco apart from the first part of

:25:35. > :25:38.qualifying. It is turning into more of a race of attrition than we have

:25:39. > :25:43.seen so far this year. Kamui Kobayashi is in 13th position now so

:25:44. > :25:50.that is an opportunity. That is the best finish we have seen from

:25:51. > :25:53.Marussia or Caterham this year and Sauber have not scored points,

:25:54. > :26:00.Gutierrez one edition ahead of Kamui Kobayashi. Daniel Ricciardo goes

:26:01. > :26:05.fastest in the last sector. That is something he owned through practice

:26:06. > :26:09.and qualifying, Red Bull performing well on that section. I wonder if

:26:10. > :26:15.Lewis is strategically dropping back to cool his brakes? This is another

:26:16. > :26:23.pass. Down the inside, he likes that move. Adrian Sutil. Unlike Rosberg,

:26:24. > :26:28.he manages to make the corner and he dives down the inside. Ericsson

:26:29. > :26:35.thinks of coming in but no choice but to let him through, a good pass.

:26:36. > :26:41.I feel my rear is going. OK, copy that. That is interesting, this is

:26:42. > :26:46.uncharted territory because nobody did a decent length run in practice

:26:47. > :26:52.on these super-soft tyres. Tom, this is interesting. Yes, I wonder if it

:26:53. > :26:58.is the 11 degrees track temperature, cooler than yesterday. That was the

:26:59. > :27:03.only opportunity the teams had to run the super-soft tyres because on

:27:04. > :27:08.Thursday, it was wet and they did not get to run it. It is a case of

:27:09. > :27:16.waiting to see. I am noticing in the pit lane a constant smell of brakes.

:27:17. > :27:23.I am between the Toro Rosso and Williams garages and the new chicane

:27:24. > :27:27.is below me. In the three practice sessions, I have never noticed the

:27:28. > :27:33.smell of brakes but I am smelling it this afternoon. I guess the amount

:27:34. > :27:38.of Rob at the track is possible -- the amount of Rob are on the track,

:27:39. > :27:43.that is giving the smell. They have not had as much free practice

:27:44. > :27:49.because of the weather conditions, but lower energy going into the

:27:50. > :27:55.brakes, a lock-up from Rosberg. That was the safe corner where he went

:27:56. > :28:05.off in qualifying. We have heard a message that Lewis... What is

:28:06. > :28:14.happening? My engine is getting slower. His engine is getting

:28:15. > :28:19.slower. We also heard his response to what he mentioned earlier about

:28:20. > :28:23.his rear tyres. The engineer telling him there still cars, we need is to

:28:24. > :28:28.push this stint a bit longer. Nico goes up the front left and he gets

:28:29. > :28:32.out of the brakes and he manages to make the apex. To be clear, I do not

:28:33. > :28:37.think he did deliberately go down the escape road but it is entirely

:28:38. > :28:41.possible he could have made that decision and the fact he is able to

:28:42. > :28:45.make the corner while making a mistake shows it is possible. Those

:28:46. > :28:52.who think he did it deliberately, that will add to the confirmation.

:28:53. > :28:58.Marcus Ericsson in the Caterham being chased by Romain Grosjean who

:28:59. > :29:06.made an early pit stop. Marcus Ericsson with a distinctive blue

:29:07. > :29:11.crash helmet. That is in deference to Ronnie Peterson who won here 40

:29:12. > :29:18.years ago in 1974, one of the great Swedish Formula 1 dry dish --

:29:19. > :29:22.drivers. Never won the World Championship but was a superstar and

:29:23. > :29:28.it is nice to see Ericsson honouring that. He is under pressure. There is

:29:29. > :29:35.a five second penalty for Jules Bianchi and Max Chilton. And Esteban

:29:36. > :29:41.Gutierrez. This is an opportunity now for Caterham to get their best

:29:42. > :29:44.result of the year, a huge story. A five second stop and go will be

:29:45. > :29:52.taken at the pit stop. That is the new regulation so that is not as bad

:29:53. > :29:55.as the old drives -- drive-through penalty which can still be imposed

:29:56. > :30:02.but it will cost them dear in their race with Caterham.

:30:03. > :30:28.We just saw some debris. Which of the Saubers is it? The front left

:30:29. > :30:33.has folded back into the car. A famous Brazilian pop artist has done

:30:34. > :30:41.design schemes on the helmet that Adrian Sutil. That was the charity.

:30:42. > :30:46.He lost the rear to the inside of the circuit. He locks the rear

:30:47. > :30:51.Accel, corrects it and then loses the car. There was so much momentum

:30:52. > :31:01.when he corrected the car. He rattled the barrier. Still trying to

:31:02. > :31:08.control the car, despite having no steering on the front left. Sensibly

:31:09. > :31:13.keeping his foot off the brake. The safety car is deployed. The pit lane

:31:14. > :31:18.will be busy. It is a crucial time. Will they double stack the cars?

:31:19. > :31:23.They have to slow down, even though they are not behind the safety car.

:31:24. > :31:34.They have two drive at a certain speed. That speed is displayed on

:31:35. > :31:39.their dashboard. I am trying to see if there was any way Nico or Lewis

:31:40. > :31:43.could shorten the circuit while driving at slow speed and not

:31:44. > :31:51.received penalty. We'll Mercedes stack the cars? Surely it is the

:31:52. > :31:59.right time to stop. Some of these guys have five second penalties. The

:32:00. > :32:06.Marussia, it cannot touch the car... If they stack the cars with 20 guys

:32:07. > :32:12.available, Lewis would be at a disadvantage, they would have to

:32:13. > :32:22.bring out a number set of tyres. He came to late. He lost time coming

:32:23. > :32:29.in. He was held. A red light, a car was coming past. He will be able to

:32:30. > :32:36.take up his position behind Nico. Does he have traffic? He last time

:32:37. > :32:45.in assembler circumstance this time last year -- he lost time in a

:32:46. > :32:53.similar circumstance. Grosjean will have to drop back. We have a number

:32:54. > :33:03.of cars in the pits. The Mercedes taking the opportunity to come in.

:33:04. > :33:16.Jean-Eric Vergne said on his way. That was -- sent. There was no doubt

:33:17. > :33:21.they will be penalised for that. There is no question he would have

:33:22. > :33:25.seen the red light. The McLaren was in its zone to make a stop. Quick

:33:26. > :33:32.reaction from the crew in the following box. The Williams guy just

:33:33. > :33:35.managed to step back enough. That could have been frightening. The

:33:36. > :33:42.safety car is dealing with the accident of Adrian Sutil. RADIO:

:33:43. > :33:50.What is the reason you did not box before? That was interesting, what

:33:51. > :33:54.was the reason they did not box the lack before. Maybe the crash had

:33:55. > :33:58.already happened. Maybe he was asking why they did not do it in the

:33:59. > :34:09.delay between the crash and the safety car coming out. We have the

:34:10. > :34:13.advantage of being able to watch everything and they can only see

:34:14. > :34:20.what is going on from their small aperture in the crash helmet. It

:34:21. > :34:30.will take awhile to sort this out. At this. Released. He was not

:34:31. > :34:33.looking. You look at the lights changing in the pit stop box. The

:34:34. > :34:37.issue is not with the driver, it is whoever is the man who is in

:34:38. > :34:46.control. They have an override switch. RADIO: I cannot believe we

:34:47. > :34:59.just had to pit. What is the next option I have? Lewis, this will be a

:35:00. > :35:03.race to the end. He was looking for an opportunity around the pit stop

:35:04. > :35:10.of closing the gap and the safety car has taken that away. He knows

:35:11. > :35:15.it. That is why the frustration is coming through. Nico also knows that

:35:16. > :35:21.and he now just has to keep out of trouble until the end of the race.

:35:22. > :35:30.Felipe Massa, we need to check his position. He did not come in. The

:35:31. > :35:37.only one who did not follow the general line of thought, Felipe

:35:38. > :35:43.Massa. He is in sixth place. He has not stopped. He is on the tyres he

:35:44. > :35:46.started the race on. Maybe they hope they will get another safety car in

:35:47. > :35:56.a race. They are trying something different. We believe Vergne will

:35:57. > :36:03.have a penalty. RADIO: I should have hit it on that lap. Why did you not

:36:04. > :36:07.pull me in, guys? Remember Australia. Jenson Button realised

:36:08. > :36:12.there would be a safety car and went into the pits at the key moment.

:36:13. > :36:19.Lewis is blaming the team, but he is blaming himself a little bit,

:36:20. > :36:24.perhaps he saw an opportunity. That is as much an open conversation to

:36:25. > :36:30.himself, he is aware of the needs to have your team on side and that you

:36:31. > :36:35.win and lose together. Kimi Raikkonen in the pits. There must be

:36:36. > :36:45.a problem. He was running in a solid third place. I did not see the tyres

:36:46. > :36:52.change. I was watching them cleaning the front wing. Did they notice they

:36:53. > :36:58.were getting bad information on aerodynamic performance as well as

:36:59. > :37:02.taking another set of tyres? Do you think they put him on the wrong set

:37:03. > :37:07.of wheels, something strange like that? We will try to find out. It

:37:08. > :37:15.had an impact. It brings Ricciardo into third place. And Alonso is in

:37:16. > :37:23.fourth position. The Red Bull is showing good pace this weekend. I

:37:24. > :37:30.would think Ricciardo would be delighted to nip at Hamilton's

:37:31. > :37:39.heels. This is Adrian Sutil. You can see how quickly the car went when he

:37:40. > :37:46.hit the brakes. He is not the first to end up in the escape road from

:37:47. > :37:49.that sort of incident. One of the drama is at the beginning was that

:37:50. > :37:54.we lost Sebastian Vettel from third position.

:37:55. > :38:00.We could hear the ocean from starting with, come on, guys, too, I

:38:01. > :38:09.am sure you are doing everything you can. It is disappointing. I had a

:38:10. > :38:15.good start. We lost pressure from the turbo and so had no power and

:38:16. > :38:25.had to retire. I am sure they did everything, as I said. I feel

:38:26. > :38:29.helpless in the car. I do not know what is the problem. I hoped they

:38:30. > :38:35.would have an answer, but they did not have won today. What do you do

:38:36. > :38:42.now, do you sit and watch this, or do you escape somewhere? I will try

:38:43. > :38:49.to get back home as soon as I can probably. The safety car will be

:38:50. > :38:54.coming in at the end of this lap and we will be going racing once again.

:38:55. > :38:58.Adrian Sutil crashed out, which brought the safety car and we saw

:38:59. > :39:02.pit stops as a result. The Mercedes cars stacked in the pit lane.

:39:03. > :39:05.Hamilton not happy and almost running into the back of his

:39:06. > :39:13.team-mate as they get ready for the restart. We have seen a problem for

:39:14. > :39:18.Kimi Raikkonen who made an extra pit stop which drops him down to 13th

:39:19. > :39:22.place. The race gets under way again. Rosberg challenged by

:39:23. > :39:28.Hamilton and with Daniel Ricciardo chasing them. The Red Bull has shown

:39:29. > :39:36.pace this weekend. The car can be seen sliding around. There will be

:39:37. > :39:43.optimal temperature and pressure. Nico gets safely through the first

:39:44. > :39:48.turn. It looks like everybody is successfully making their way

:39:49. > :39:53.through. Felipe Massa is in fifth, because he did not stop. He is on

:39:54. > :39:58.the original starting set of tyres. Williams throwing a gamble. He was

:39:59. > :40:07.unlucky yesterday when he was crashed out on Mirabeau in

:40:08. > :40:12.qualifying by Marcus Ericsson. Kevin Magnussen is in sixth. An incident

:40:13. > :40:17.in the pit lane being investigated and we wonder if he will get a

:40:18. > :40:29.drive-through penalty. That was a move up the inside. That was

:40:30. > :40:34.Magnusson. And that was on Vergne. It was a great move up the inside.

:40:35. > :40:44.Surprisingly get away with it. He did it. Tom. Hulkenberg trying to

:40:45. > :40:50.make a move on Vergne. The McLaren of Magnusson, he has got past

:40:51. > :40:57.Magnusson. That was a great believer. I do not think I have seen

:40:58. > :41:02.anybody overtake there. Magnusson, he was ahead of Vergne and then he

:41:03. > :41:08.is under attack from Nico Hulkenberg. Squeezing through at 48.

:41:09. > :41:14.This is a crucial middle phase of the race. Vergne, coming through

:41:15. > :41:20.Casino Square, and where is Jenson Button? Just coming over the rise.

:41:21. > :41:28.Vergne has a drive-through penalty for unsafe release. No surprise. The

:41:29. > :41:35.mechanism to release the red light into green and tell the driver it is

:41:36. > :41:38.safe to go can be overridden by a senior member of the team and

:41:39. > :41:43.whether they did not see the McLaren, or took the judgement.

:41:44. > :41:48.Normally they have a marker that shows them that if the car has gone

:41:49. > :41:55.past the marker, they are not allowed to release the car. It was

:41:56. > :42:03.massively ignored in that situation. Toro Rosso have finished in the top

:42:04. > :42:07.ten in every Grand Prix except one. Vergne missed out a couple of years

:42:08. > :42:13.ago when he had to change tyres at the end of the Grand Prix, when he

:42:14. > :42:19.was running top ten. And another contacts between the Marussia and

:42:20. > :42:31.cater. Bianchi getting past Kobayashi. He is part of the Ferrari

:42:32. > :42:41.young drivers. Bianchi saw the car passing and wanted some as well. We

:42:42. > :42:46.will see a replay. Raikkonen and Kobayashi. Going off in the braking

:42:47. > :42:53.zone. He makes the chicane, but Kobayashi doesn't. RADIO: Nico, it

:42:54. > :43:04.will be critical if you do not use longer gears. I wonder if Hamilton

:43:05. > :43:06.is being told the same. They have started with less than the 100

:43:07. > :43:10.kilograms they are allowed. I had started with less than the 100

:43:11. > :43:18.rough figure from the team that they would start with 83 kilograms, 17%

:43:19. > :43:29.less than they are allowed. We have seen Lewis has been able to save

:43:30. > :43:37.more fuel than Lee -- van Nico. -- more fuel van Nico. The way to save

:43:38. > :43:43.fuel is to lift out of the throttle at high speed. Sometimes it can be

:43:44. > :43:52.unsettling for the driver to have the dead phase from lifting the

:43:53. > :43:56.throttle and applying the brakes. That information could be crucial

:43:57. > :44:03.for the speed that Lewis can maintain as we get into the closing

:44:04. > :44:07.stages. It adds another element to the confrontation between the

:44:08. > :44:12.team-mates at Mercedes. Rosberg has the controlling position. Perhaps

:44:13. > :44:18.Hamilton using less fuel. It is incredible, off the back of

:44:19. > :44:27.qualifying, looking at the media in the UK, they latched onto this

:44:28. > :44:37.battle, this increasing rivalry and wedge becoming between these old

:44:38. > :44:44.friends. Ten out of ten for holding onto that. Max Chilton almost ended

:44:45. > :44:52.his remarkable finishing record. Felipe Massa coming in. 45 laps on

:44:53. > :44:59.his first set of super-soft tyres. Impressive. Where will he come out?

:45:00. > :45:05.Will he be in front of Bianchi? Will Bianchi be able to move to 11th

:45:06. > :45:11.position? Bianchi going through the final corner.

:45:12. > :45:21.It looks like Felipe Massa gets out ahead of the Marussia. Yes, he does.

:45:22. > :45:27.Bianchi, he is still in 12th place. Felipe Massa is outside the points,

:45:28. > :45:31.but only one position outside. A couple of seconds behind Kimi

:45:32. > :45:40.Raikkonen, who he will try to catch up to. He is on fresh tyres, as

:45:41. > :45:46.well. Max Chilton and Kamui Kobayashi up the road. Hamilton is

:45:47. > :45:59.very close behind. Lewis and Nico moving a closely into

:46:00. > :46:03.T1 and T2, carry more speed into T3. That is the fuel saving he has been

:46:04. > :46:08.requested to do, traffic is out of the way as they run down to

:46:09. > :46:13.Mirabeau. Lewis will know what that is telling him, if he can get

:46:14. > :46:16.close, there could be an opportunity. He will be saving more

:46:17. > :46:24.fuels so he will not have to do so much. Slow motion action of the

:46:25. > :46:28.leader, Nico Rosberg. As he comes through the swimming pool section.

:46:29. > :46:37.Hamilton chasing. That is when they were a bit closer. That -- the race

:46:38. > :46:42.is still on between the Mercedes team-mates and we are on lap 52 of

:46:43. > :46:47.78. Rosberg has been in control from the start, he got off from the pole

:46:48. > :46:52.position perfectly into the first corner and Sebastian Vettel made a

:46:53. > :46:57.good start to move into third. A mistake by Jean-Eric Vergne, a year

:46:58. > :47:01.over shot the chicane. Smoke from the back of his car, there could be

:47:02. > :47:07.problems for Jean-Eric Vergne, definitely in trouble. He is on his

:47:08. > :47:14.way to retirement. Jean-Eric Vergne is slowing down, he can he make it

:47:15. > :47:21.to the pit lane? His car -- their cars flashing past.

:47:22. > :47:26.There is smoke. It is all over for the other Toro

:47:27. > :47:31.Rosso. I do not think there is oil on the ground but the engine is not

:47:32. > :47:38.right. It is retirement for the other Toro restaurant Jean-Eric

:47:39. > :47:44.Vergne, both cars out this race. Daniil Kvyat out early on, it it is

:47:45. > :47:51.another non-finish, he has had a sequence of them this year. -- it

:47:52. > :47:57.is. Mechanical failure it did not sound happy that he did not sound

:47:58. > :48:04.happy. A lot of frustration. This group are together. Valtteri

:48:05. > :48:10.Bottas is struggling for pace and he has been closed. Four cars fighting

:48:11. > :48:19.for eight position and you wonder if this will last. Valtteri Bottas must

:48:20. > :48:28.have an issue, let's see what his lap time is. They all up behind.

:48:29. > :48:32.This time around, 25 .8, so a major issue for that Williams. Is there a

:48:33. > :48:41.recovery issue? Seems strange on the soft tyres. Gutierrez had a real go.

:48:42. > :48:47.He cut the chicane, surely he has to cut that she has to give the place

:48:48. > :48:52.back? Yes, the rules are clear. Valtteri Bottas still could have

:48:53. > :48:54.made a corner, he chose to miss it completely. So he will get a

:48:55. > :49:01.message. He is completely. So he will get a

:49:02. > :49:08.stops the car on the exit so any penalties irrelevant now. They have

:49:09. > :49:14.got a marshal right there, a gap in the barriers. Readers go through. No

:49:15. > :49:21.change for Rosberg and Hamilton. -- leaders. The first non-score of the

:49:22. > :49:27.year for Valtteri Bottas. The smoke looked similar to the Toro Rosso.

:49:28. > :49:34.That is a Mercedes powered car and we do not know what has failed. A

:49:35. > :49:42.bit like a turbo failure. That is pure guesswork. This was the view on

:49:43. > :49:49.board with Gutierrez as he went past. Very disappointing for

:49:50. > :49:55.Valtteri Bottas and Williams, it brings Felipe Massa into the points.

:49:56. > :50:00.And it brings Jules Bianchi into 11th place, one position outside the

:50:01. > :50:08.points. And their best position so far. Jules Bianchi is in 11th place.

:50:09. > :50:12.What an opportunity for Marussia, but how other tyres holding up? He

:50:13. > :50:21.has done a lot of laps on those tyres. Closing the gap behind him,

:50:22. > :50:28.Romain Grosjean. Interesting again. We did see Williams to 40 laps early

:50:29. > :50:32.on in this race on these tyres and the car is lighter. It has burned

:50:33. > :50:39.off some of the fuel from Felipe Massa, so it is achievable depending

:50:40. > :50:43.on how much pace he has got. He has to get 53 laps out of these tyres

:50:44. > :50:50.from the moment he puts them on to see the chequered flag. They will be

:50:51. > :50:56.extremely tired tyres! Significantly further than Pirelli would predict.

:50:57. > :51:01.We think he will get a penalty at the end of the race, a five second

:51:02. > :51:09.penalty, so keep up with Kimi Raikkonen. And an incident involving

:51:10. > :51:13.Jules Bianchi under investigation. They say the team may be served a

:51:14. > :51:18.five second penalty when the safety car is deployed. That penalty is

:51:19. > :51:24.meant to be deployed at a pit stop but not when the safety car is out.

:51:25. > :51:30.If they took the penalty, which they obviously did, they only had the one

:51:31. > :51:38.pit stop. Suddenly, suddenly, it is looking much worse for Jules Bianchi

:51:39. > :51:43.and Marussia. I wonder if they can work out if it is better to

:51:44. > :51:48.negotiate with the director to see if they can serve another penalty or

:51:49. > :51:53.if it is better to have the penalty applied after the race? That is

:51:54. > :51:58.tough. If that was going to be the only pit stop, they could serve the

:51:59. > :52:02.penalty but the rules say you cannot serve that five second penalty under

:52:03. > :52:08.safety car. That is a problem with the system wedge Ivers will try to

:52:09. > :52:15.do one stop, it becomes more than a five second penalty -- whether

:52:16. > :52:20.drivers. -- were the drivers. I would say, how do the team managers

:52:21. > :52:25.and those who write the rules allow that to happen? If you have done

:52:26. > :52:29.your pit stops, there is an option because they add time to your

:52:30. > :52:34.overall race times so if you have no more pit stops, they can at the time

:52:35. > :52:44.and we get and not date at the end of the Grand Prix. That is how they

:52:45. > :52:47.allow for it. -- and they can add that at the end. On board with Lewis

:52:48. > :52:52.Hamilton, 2.1 seconds behind his team-mate. They have the motors

:52:53. > :52:59.between them at the moment. Again, Daniel Ricciardo quickly in third

:53:00. > :53:05.place. -- they have the Lotus. Blue flags waving for Romain Grosjean to

:53:06. > :53:09.get out of the way. That is Daniel Ricciardo, good luck last time,

:53:10. > :53:16.almost as fast as the fastest lap set by Hamilton -- a good lap. News

:53:17. > :53:20.from Ferrari, Tom. We were wondering why Kimi Raikkonen did that second

:53:21. > :53:27.pit stop, it is because he had a puncture after he was hit by Max

:53:28. > :53:32.Chilton. That is what dropped him from third and he is ninth now. It

:53:33. > :53:37.has not come together well for Kimi Raikkonen on his return to the

:53:38. > :53:46.roaring. He is in ninth place. A spin. That is good she areas. That

:53:47. > :53:52.looks like the rear tyre -- that is Esteban Gutierrez. Facing the wrong

:53:53. > :53:58.way at La Rascasse and dropping out of the points. He clashed with the

:53:59. > :54:04.barrier. Fatigue got the better of him and he turned to early. The end

:54:05. > :54:08.of an opportunity for Sauber. He has brought Jules Bianchi into 10th

:54:09. > :54:14.place. But we believe he will have to serve another penalty. Marussia

:54:15. > :54:20.for their first ever points in Formula 1, they will be denied that.

:54:21. > :54:28.This is the battle for fit between Nico Hulkenberg. Force India ahead

:54:29. > :54:35.of the McLaren -- for fifth race. -- place. We saw that move early on by

:54:36. > :54:40.Kevin Magnussen and he may have had to give a place back under safety

:54:41. > :54:46.car conditions and since then he has been following Nico Hulkenberg. Nico

:54:47. > :54:51.Hulkenberg is struggling. Last time around, Kevin Magnussen was faster

:54:52. > :54:58.and that is allowing Jenson Button to close up. Rosberg is ahead of

:54:59. > :55:04.Lewis Hamilton. The five second stop and go penalty... They have given

:55:05. > :55:10.him a five second stop and go and there will not the another pit stop

:55:11. > :55:17.as long as he can... What is going on here? Has Hamilton got a problem?

:55:18. > :55:23.Mercedes are ready for a pit stop. Lewis, it get back to us, let us

:55:24. > :55:32.know what is happening. -- get back. I cannot see on my left. I cannot

:55:33. > :55:37.see out of my left eye, it is impossible. That is nasty, he has

:55:38. > :55:42.got something in his eye and he is struggling to see. That is so

:55:43. > :55:47.unusual. Your visor is supposed to be sealed but I used to have mine

:55:48. > :55:55.open slightly around the circuit to allow air into the cockpit and to

:55:56. > :56:03.cool you down so if he has macro to, he is massively dropping off. --

:56:04. > :56:10.debris. Lewis Hamilton, his last lap was quite slow and this is very

:56:11. > :56:18.similar. He is adapting to driving with one eye, I do not know what is

:56:19. > :56:25.going on. I suppose by blinking massively! You have a glove on so

:56:26. > :56:31.who you do not want to poke your eye. Is it a bit of mind games Mr

:56:32. > :56:41.Mark Hamilton will deal with that and Daniel Ricciardo will try to

:56:42. > :56:48.take advantage -- and Hamilton. He blocks Ricciardo at the apex so he

:56:49. > :56:54.has lost momentum and allowed Rosberg leading space. More traffic

:56:55. > :57:01.ahead, all over the back of Kevin Magnussen. Hamilton is struggling,

:57:02. > :57:04.no doubt. Blue lights flashing as the slower cars are told to get out

:57:05. > :57:11.of the way. Kevin Magnussen making and manoeuvre but he does not change

:57:12. > :57:15.position -- a manoeuvre. That was the two McLaren cars. Button is in

:57:16. > :57:20.sixth place. That was pretty impressive. Hamilton is trying to

:57:21. > :57:27.get past him, what a time for Jenson Button! So difficult to let them

:57:28. > :57:32.through Holland -- and he has picked up so much debris on his tyres. We

:57:33. > :57:43.will have to see how Button achieved it. For Vari out on the inside! They

:57:44. > :57:47.are stuck, Kimi Raikkonen and Kevin Magnussen stuck on the corner in

:57:48. > :57:53.that battle for seven place, this could help Jules Bianchi because it

:57:54. > :57:58.might be an opportunity. Are they still stop? They have got moving.

:57:59. > :58:05.Daniel Ricciardo gets closer -- still stop. This Monaco Grand Prix

:58:06. > :58:09.is coming alive in the closing stages, relentless pressure from

:58:10. > :58:13.Hamilton in the early stages on Rosberg but now Hamilton is under

:58:14. > :58:18.pressure from Daniel Ricciardo. Ricciardo has been supreme here in

:58:19. > :58:22.qualifying and in the race in this last sector, expect him to close up

:58:23. > :58:31.on the gearbox of Hamilton. The Red Bull is flying. It has looked after

:58:32. > :58:35.its tyres better. Hamilton is having to fight to stay in second position

:58:36. > :58:41.and Rosberg is heading for the championship lead today. If he loses

:58:42. > :58:46.this place, vital points going to Rosberg. Four laps to go and

:58:47. > :58:51.Ricciardo can sense an opportunity to get his best result in Formula

:58:52. > :58:57.1. That is a second-place finish. Jenson Button in sixth place. Nico

:58:58. > :59:06.Hulkenberg will be next to try and overtake. Damage to the car. No

:59:07. > :59:12.change. That brings Jules Bianchi into eighth place and he will have a

:59:13. > :59:17.penalty to drop him behind Romain Grosjean, but there is a transfer

:59:18. > :59:23.Jules Bianchi to score points today. Stories at the top and bottom of the

:59:24. > :59:27.field. Hamilton fighting off Ricciardo. Nico Hulkenberg in fifth

:59:28. > :59:32.position. You can see behind the McLaren will try to take advantage.

:59:33. > :59:39.I wonder if Button can do anything! Right behind the Force India.

:59:40. > :59:46.Michael Holcombe Burke has established his position in front of

:59:47. > :59:48.the McLaren. -- Nico Hulkenberg. Nico Hulkenberg has no grip compared

:59:49. > :00:02.to McLaren. He made the pass. Magnusson gave him

:00:03. > :00:10.space. He ran out of space against the tyre barriers. They will

:00:11. > :00:19.investigate that incident after. We will find out after the race whether

:00:20. > :00:24.action is taken. Rosberg has this one if the car continues to hold

:00:25. > :00:30.together. Hamilton has not got second place in the bag because

:00:31. > :00:35.Ricciardo is tucked in behind him, after a beautifully driven race. He

:00:36. > :00:41.has paced himself superbly. The car is working brilliantly in the

:00:42. > :00:47.closing stages. Around 20 seconds, the gap over Alonso in fourth.

:00:48. > :00:52.Hulkenberg is fifth, but hounded by Jenson Button. Felipe Massa in

:00:53. > :01:00.seventh and Bianchi in eighth place. 1.2 seconds ahead of Romain

:01:01. > :01:04.Grosjean. More than the five seconds margin he needs ahead of Magnusson

:01:05. > :01:10.and he could score Marussia's first ever points in Formula One.

:01:11. > :01:19.Ricciardo, so close. Is there an opportunity? DRS is available but it

:01:20. > :01:26.makes little difference at Monaco. The pressure is on Lewis Hamilton.

:01:27. > :01:33.We have seen races so many times like this, with the tiniest mistake

:01:34. > :01:46.deciding the outcome. Not likely into Mirabeau, to have a go. Too far

:01:47. > :01:53.back. The leader has lapped everybody up to fourth place. Only

:01:54. > :02:02.the top four cars running on the same lap. Nico Rosberg is in command

:02:03. > :02:09.and looking for back-to-back victories at this track. Can

:02:10. > :02:13.Hamilton hold on to second? He will lose the championship lead today. He

:02:14. > :02:18.will not want to lose the points in second place. Another twitch from

:02:19. > :02:26.the Red Bull of Ricciardo, as he chases down Hamilton. This is

:02:27. > :02:31.fantastic racing. We have seen some good Grands Prix this year. We know

:02:32. > :02:37.it is hard to overtake in Monaco. He is tough when it comes to racing. He

:02:38. > :02:43.gives no quarter. He will go for it, given a chance. Nico Rosberg has

:02:44. > :02:47.driven superbly today. He withstood pressure from the team-mate and he

:02:48. > :03:02.is heading for back-to-back wins at Monaco. Ayrton Senna in 1991 was the

:03:03. > :03:05.last man to do that. He has managed to ruffle the feathers of Lewis

:03:06. > :03:11.Hamilton this weekend, who will be under pressure as they approach the

:03:12. > :03:25.chicane. Ricciardo will be looking for a great drive off this turn.

:03:26. > :03:31.Rosberg knows the road so well, he went to school along these roads and

:03:32. > :03:36.he won the race last year, a major achievement for Nico Rosberg to win

:03:37. > :03:43.for the first time. Brilliantly driven. It looks like he will make

:03:44. > :03:49.two out of two. Nico Rosberg wins the Monaco Grand Prix. Acta back

:03:50. > :03:55.victories in the principality, and only the third time it has been done

:03:56. > :04:02.in 20 years. Lewis Hamilton, second, and losing the championship lead. He

:04:03. > :04:09.remains in touch with his team-mate. Ricciardo a fighting third for Red

:04:10. > :04:15.Bull. Fernando Alonso, always consistent, always reliable. Simply

:04:16. > :04:22.the car is not fast enough at this point. 13 starts at Monaco and only

:04:23. > :04:28.two non-finishes. Again, a brilliant performance, but the Ferrari needs

:04:29. > :04:33.more speed. Nico Rosberg has row at Monaco and beaten Hamilton in a

:04:34. > :04:42.straight fight. RADIO: Well done, Nico. Pick up rubber. Excellent

:04:43. > :04:49.job. Lewis finished second and Ricciardo a close third. A good job.

:04:50. > :04:56.Well done. Yes! Thank you very much, everybody. Really amazing,

:04:57. > :05:02.this card, really amazing. Rosberg takes the victory ahead of Lewis

:05:03. > :05:07.Hamilton. Daniel Ricciardo a fighting third and Alonso holding on

:05:08. > :05:12.for fourth. Jenson Button in six position ahead of Felipe Massa and

:05:13. > :05:15.Romain Grosjean taking eighth in the Lotus, despite a different

:05:16. > :05:20.strategy. Bianchi has the penalty applied, which drops him act minds,

:05:21. > :05:30.but in the points for the first time for the Marussia team.

:05:31. > :05:35.There is Lewis Hamilton. It was a tough race. We will get to hear

:05:36. > :05:43.about the problems he had. Rosberg, he will celebrate the moment. 12

:05:44. > :06:03.months after doing it for the first time, he is a back-to-back winner in

:06:04. > :06:07.Monaco. And you can hear the reaction from the pit crew, as well.

:06:08. > :06:15.The rivalry is so intense on both sides of the garage. I am sure the

:06:16. > :06:21.debrief afterwards will be a quiet affair, but Rosberg has done it.

:06:22. > :06:26.Hamilton will have to wait a little longer for a second win in Monaco.

:06:27. > :06:32.2008, he took one of his most brilliant victories in Formula One,

:06:33. > :06:37.winning from third place on the grid. Pole position is always an

:06:38. > :06:41.advantage when it is a dry and straightforward Grand Prix. The

:06:42. > :06:47.timing of the safety car gave him no opportunity to see what he could do

:06:48. > :06:52.in passing his team-mate. Jules Bianchi has finished in eighth place

:06:53. > :06:57.with a penalty and he drops back to ninth, but Marussia have scored

:06:58. > :07:02.their first ever points in Formula One. While the story is at the top

:07:03. > :07:07.of Nico Rosberg taking the championship lead and Ricciardo

:07:08. > :07:16.getting his first podium in Monaco, Jules Bianchi, the lad just from

:07:17. > :07:22.down the road in Nice. He gets the points, first ever points the

:07:23. > :07:29.Marussia. What a day it will be for them. A French driver scoring that

:07:30. > :07:36.result. Marussia, the party will go on for ever. It is time now for the

:07:37. > :07:45.podium celebrations. Unique podium celebrations in Monaco. Lewis

:07:46. > :07:51.Hamilton, not smiling much. Rosberg, up to the Royal box to receive his

:07:52. > :07:59.trophy. He receives it from Prince Albert. He is a huge and easy asked

:08:00. > :08:08.for the sport and for the event. And for Nico Rosberg, deja vu. He was

:08:09. > :08:13.here last year. What a time to deliver. The way the championship

:08:14. > :08:16.battle is bubbling away, he could not want four more, and you could

:08:17. > :08:24.not want four more from a neutral point of view. It is fascinating to

:08:25. > :08:30.watch the pressure building. It is resting war on Nico eco-'s shoulders

:08:31. > :08:36.now, after qualifying. And now today it sits more with Lewis. Lewis more

:08:37. > :08:42.vocal in his frustration. We are used to that. He wears his heart on

:08:43. > :08:50.his sleeve. Nico has been a cool cucumber and he has delivered.

:08:51. > :08:56.Daniel Ricciardo in third place for two Grands Prix in succession. It is

:08:57. > :09:01.time for him to celebrate. Rosberg uses his home race to bounce back

:09:02. > :09:07.into the championship lead. The rivalry from their younger days is

:09:08. > :09:12.rekindled. The rivalry between Hamilton and Rosberg is truly

:09:13. > :09:21.alight. Congratulations. We almost lost the

:09:22. > :09:25.cameraman! The first man to win this back-to-back leading all that since

:09:26. > :09:30.Ayrton Senna in 1990. Putting that to one side, you have done this

:09:31. > :09:36.before, there was controversy going into the Grand Prix. How did you

:09:37. > :09:43.focus on the job? What is written in the media I do not follow. That is

:09:44. > :09:48.one side. The only thing that was awkward was I went to the stewards

:09:49. > :09:56.because they wanted to look at it. But it was quickly forgotten. It was

:09:57. > :10:04.a strange moment. Your mind was on the start. Two safety car restarts,

:10:05. > :10:10.you managed them well. Did you feel under pressure from your team-mate?

:10:11. > :10:14.It was a tough race and he was going for it. The most difficult moment

:10:15. > :10:19.was in the middle when I suddenly had to save fuel and I had to change

:10:20. > :10:26.my driving style and use two gears higher at some corners, which was

:10:27. > :10:33.tough. It ruined my rhythm. It was difficult. After that, it was OK.

:10:34. > :10:41.And your relationship good with your team-mate? It is an intense battle

:10:42. > :10:45.between us. The advantage we have is we have known each other since so

:10:46. > :10:50.long and there will always be difficulties, but what we'd do well

:10:51. > :10:57.is we speak about them and move on. Congratulations, enjoy the party.

:10:58. > :11:02.An interesting interview. It was a great chat and he was vociferous

:11:03. > :11:08.about not reading the press and trying to move on. If he does not

:11:09. > :11:19.read the press, he is told about it and he knows there is that in the

:11:20. > :11:24.team. He wants to get rid of that. He dismissed it quickly. There is

:11:25. > :11:30.aggravation between himself and Lewis Hamilton and that will not

:11:31. > :11:36.change this season. If he had not won here, would the championship

:11:37. > :11:40.slipped towards Lewis? I think if Lewis had beaten him here,

:11:41. > :11:43.psychologically, it would have been the end of the championship and

:11:44. > :11:50.there would be no way back for him if he had not won.

:11:51. > :11:56.Second place today. Valuable points. Describe your emotions at the

:11:57. > :12:08.moment. I feel OK. I am looking forward to seeing my family and

:12:09. > :12:14.being with Nicole. I will enjoy the evening and go jet skiing. I think I

:12:15. > :12:19.did myself proud today. I will get myself ready for the next race. It

:12:20. > :12:26.was scary hearing about your eye on team radio. I thought I was going to

:12:27. > :12:32.crash. I have never driven with one eye. And tearing around the track

:12:33. > :12:41.when you are so close to barriers, it is the hardest thing will stop it

:12:42. > :12:45.was a learning experience. You seemed disappointed yesterday and

:12:46. > :12:50.you seem disappointed today. Why are you so down at the moment, what is

:12:51. > :13:02.making you feel upset about things because that is how you come

:13:03. > :13:07.across? Um... It is not something I want to go into. Nothing can come

:13:08. > :13:14.good of what I might or might not say. I am proud of the team for what

:13:15. > :13:19.they have done and I am proud we have got a 1-to forbid team. You

:13:20. > :13:25.have been friends with Nico for a long time, what is your relation

:13:26. > :13:31.like at dash-macro Asian ship like at the moment? There is not much to

:13:32. > :13:39.say about it at the moment. Fierce competitors and that is what it is.

:13:40. > :13:45.You have rivalry with Alonso at McLaren, does this feel more

:13:46. > :13:49.intense? Not really. Different times, different places, I am more

:13:50. > :13:59.grown up now and hopefully have learned. You are winning, Nico has

:14:00. > :14:07.won this weekend. What do you have that will give you the edge in

:14:08. > :14:13.Canada? I have this speed. When I get pole position, the way I drive

:14:14. > :14:16.will be the right way and that is what I will continue to do for the

:14:17. > :14:23.rest of the year and that is what will make the difference.

:14:24. > :14:25.A thoughtful Lewis Hamilton. He managed to get through that

:14:26. > :14:34.interview without saying anything controversial. He did, when he says,

:14:35. > :14:39.when I get pole position, I will do it in the right way, I will race in

:14:40. > :14:43.the right way. I think that is a subtle blow to the situation. He

:14:44. > :14:51.does not believe Rosberg behaved properly at this race. There were

:14:52. > :14:55.some positives he came out with. It was a great interview. He was more

:14:56. > :15:01.reflective and covered the bases which he did not do immediately in

:15:02. > :15:05.the podium interviews. The media will keep chiselling away and get

:15:06. > :15:10.one of them to break first. Nico has the upper hand at this Grand Prix.

:15:11. > :15:19.Lewis has belief he has the speed and that will take him to the World

:15:20. > :15:25.Championship. How important was that win for Nico? Make or break, it was

:15:26. > :15:31.lunchtime. If he did not win here and the meant went with Hamilton,

:15:32. > :15:37.his rival, and after the four races he has had, it would have been over

:15:38. > :15:42.-- the momentum. Who has the edge for the championship? Hamilton, this

:15:43. > :15:47.fell away because of one lap in qualifying and him and his engineer

:15:48. > :15:52.needs to look at when they send the car out and Montreal will be very

:15:53. > :15:57.interesting. Daniel Ricciardo, congratulations on

:15:58. > :16:01.a great podium, and Lewis said he was not bothered about you behind

:16:02. > :16:06.but she should have been because -- he should have been because you

:16:07. > :16:13.almost got him. We got closer than I expected. The Mercedes went quickly

:16:14. > :16:19.and it was trying to hold onto third and keep Fernando Alonso at Bay. The

:16:20. > :16:24.last 20 laps, I started to push and the silver are was in front and I

:16:25. > :16:33.tried to do all I could -- the silver are. Monaco is tricky so that

:16:34. > :16:37.was the best we could do. The two Silver Arrows are at loggerheads, it

:16:38. > :16:48.did you go to bed last night dreaming you could sneak in for the

:16:49. > :16:55.win? Of course! Can I ask you about the start because you lost time. It

:16:56. > :17:07.was depressing. I was not very pleased with the start. What was the

:17:08. > :17:12.problem? We did not get any drive. So it has been a little bit like

:17:13. > :17:24.that. All year. We have not been able to put the grip down to the

:17:25. > :17:29.ground, it is still not up to scratch. We would get that right and

:17:30. > :17:33.not lose any more positions. Congratulations today, it was a

:17:34. > :17:42.great podium. We will get the inside story from Red Bull. Skills! -- good

:17:43. > :17:45.skills. What about Sebastian Vettel?

:17:46. > :17:53.More technical trouble it yet again. Yes, not acceptable. -- yet again.

:17:54. > :18:03.The shaft from the Turbo broke. I have had a discussion and it is not

:18:04. > :18:06.acceptable any more. Not acceptable. They all really struggling. They are

:18:07. > :18:12.both struggling because of the Renault problems. -- they really.

:18:13. > :18:18.Sebastian Vettel, it is over, this is not possible. And he is a tough

:18:19. > :18:22.operator and he demands the best and Renault are not delivering for the

:18:23. > :18:27.team. You are saying his championship this year is over?

:18:28. > :18:35.Absolutely clear in my view. We heard his frustration on the radio.

:18:36. > :18:42.Come on, guys! I am sure you are trying everything.

:18:43. > :18:47.His natural frustration is coming over. But reflecting on that and

:18:48. > :18:54.answering his own question. That is aimed at Renault, it is not aimed at

:18:55. > :18:58.Red Bull in Milton Keynes. Do you think it is over? Yes, unless

:18:59. > :19:04.something amazing happens, he cannot this World Championship this year.

:19:05. > :19:12.Solid fourth place today behind the top three, what about that? As I

:19:13. > :19:18.suspected, we were not as quick as Mercedes, we knew that. We saw the

:19:19. > :19:24.potential from Red Bull in the last part when Daniel Ricciardo managed

:19:25. > :19:29.to push a bit. They deserved to be in front, we were not quick enough.

:19:30. > :19:37.And we did not have direct from behind so we were alone. Fourth it

:19:38. > :19:41.-- fourth, we need to make another step to fight for podiums.

:19:42. > :19:51.A fourth for Fernando Alonso today and a 12 ways for Kimi Raikkonen who

:19:52. > :19:58.had an amazing start. -- 12th place. Fernando got locked and that allowed

:19:59. > :20:03.Kimi Raikkonen to slot in behind Sebastian Vettel. It was looking

:20:04. > :20:10.good and we had the safety car and the clip with Max Chilton and that

:20:11. > :20:15.ruined Kimi Raikkonen's race. He was strong up to that point, the safety

:20:16. > :20:20.cap was the start of it. Next Chiltern got a reprimand. That

:20:21. > :20:28.cascaded into more problems -- safety car. And he got a reprimand.

:20:29. > :20:35.Yes, with that collision. Clearly, he has too much pace on the car, he

:20:36. > :20:38.has bravado, he wants to pass and he was carrying too much speed into the

:20:39. > :20:44.corner and he could not get around. A bit of frustration. That is a

:20:45. > :20:50.great shot. David, talking of Kimi Raikkonen?, do you feel the team are

:20:51. > :20:56.getting enough out of him? He has not had a good start, Fernando has

:20:57. > :21:02.been there longer. Kimi Raikkonen has frustrations but he will work

:21:03. > :21:06.hard, no question. Great news, we get to speak to

:21:07. > :21:11.Jenson Button today who is waving to fans. Sixth place. You wanted to

:21:12. > :21:16.know McLaren have moved forward, have you made a step forward? It was

:21:17. > :21:21.always going to be, it was not going to be easy to go backwards. Put it

:21:22. > :21:28.that way! A terrible day yesterday in qualifying. But it right today.

:21:29. > :21:33.And the car round this track, it you need mechanical grip. -- I put it

:21:34. > :21:38.right. You need efficiency and downforce, we are more competitive.

:21:39. > :21:44.That is good for Montreal and we are looking forward to it. The car is

:21:45. > :21:47.not very quick but it is pretty strong. We could sort that incident

:21:48. > :21:56.with Sergio Perez, talk us through that. He was trying to go around the

:21:57. > :22:01.concept -- around the outside of his team-mate. He was on the outside

:22:02. > :22:05.going into Mirabeau so I went on the inside and he dropped back behind

:22:06. > :22:10.his team-mate and he tried to pull in not knowing I was there. I tried

:22:11. > :22:15.to back out because I did not want contact with anyone. It happened. It

:22:16. > :22:19.damaged the front wing on my car and it put him out of the race and it is

:22:20. > :22:25.never nice to see someone's race end early. Nico Hulkenberg was just in

:22:26. > :22:30.front of you and you must have known he was on old tyres, did you think

:22:31. > :22:36.you had a realistic chance of taking him? I did, it was Monaco -- it is

:22:37. > :22:41.Monaco and it is difficult to overtake, my tyres are the same age

:22:42. > :22:47.but he was on super-soft. I was taking it easy and saving them for

:22:48. > :22:51.the last 20 laps. The problem is as soon as you start pushing, you

:22:52. > :22:58.destroy them immediately. It was having a good go on La Rascasse but

:22:59. > :23:04.I was pushing the limits and we could have ended up in the barriers.

:23:05. > :23:07.I would have preferred fifth-place but good points. And the most

:23:08. > :23:11.important thing is not where we finished, we all want to win the

:23:12. > :23:16.race, but it is about progression and we have that. We do not see many

:23:17. > :23:22.overtakes at Monaco but we saw one on your team-mate. I could say this

:23:23. > :23:28.is the most amazing thing ever, but I have to say he was struggling with

:23:29. > :23:35.a couple of things. He had problems at this point. Just round the

:23:36. > :23:41.outside. It was a bit easier to go past him in that section.

:23:42. > :23:49.Thank you, and well done today. These are the results from today. A

:23:50. > :23:52.crushing 1-24 Mercedes. Nico Rosberg winning the Monaco Grand Prix. --

:23:53. > :24:04.1-2, the Mercedes. It leaves the championship looking

:24:05. > :24:11.like this, a change at the top of the table. Four points is now the

:24:12. > :24:18.difference. That battle is very strong.

:24:19. > :24:30.Mercedes still leading with Red Bull with a lot of work to do in seconds.

:24:31. > :24:36.And in ninth lace, Marussia, two point! -- ninth place. And this is

:24:37. > :24:40.massive. We are joined by the driver of the

:24:41. > :24:46.moment, Jules Bianchi. Fantastic today. This is your home race, tell

:24:47. > :24:53.me about the emotions as you crossed the line? It was just amazing, it

:24:54. > :24:59.was like winning a race. I had this feeling in 2012. I am really happy

:25:00. > :25:03.and really proud of the team. It has been a long time they have been

:25:04. > :25:10.waiting for that and finally we scored some points, so it is

:25:11. > :25:13.amazing. The key moment was your pass on Kamui Kobayashi, the team

:25:14. > :25:19.you have been battling with to be the first to get the points. Talk us

:25:20. > :25:25.through this amazing pass down the inside into La Rascasse. It was

:25:26. > :25:33.good, it was a bit tight, I had to take the momentum. I cannot say it

:25:34. > :25:40.was not fair, it was tight. Three little touches. Yes, just a small

:25:41. > :25:44.case. It was nice. Graham, the sporting director, what does this

:25:45. > :25:50.mean regarding the money and the excitement? You will always remember

:25:51. > :25:58.today so what do you do wish to mark you write, Vicky Fink is progress --

:25:59. > :26:04.so what do you do? You are right, it is progress. For a younger team, it

:26:05. > :26:09.is great to move forward. We have made the car quicker. This was not

:26:10. > :26:13.just a lucky result, we have got speed in the car. We are looking

:26:14. > :26:20.forward to the next race. We have a small team. You can see in the

:26:21. > :26:28.garage, the reason why everyone was so happy is when you have got 197

:26:29. > :26:31.people instead of over 1,000 people, everyone of the people in our team

:26:32. > :26:38.now exactly what they have contributed and it is a direct

:26:39. > :26:43.reward for them -- they know. An incredible reaction and when

:26:44. > :26:50.people talk about the box office, this is vital. It must spur you one

:26:51. > :26:58.for Canada, what can we expect? -- spray you one? We expect to be more

:26:59. > :27:02.competitive. It is a special race. I think we are able to fight with

:27:03. > :27:09.Sauber so we will have to continue to work to beat them on the track.

:27:10. > :27:15.Thank you, Canada is the next race in two weeks and we will be live for

:27:16. > :27:26.the sessions. It is Saturday at five o'clock. And on Sunday at 6:20pm, do

:27:27. > :27:32.not miss it. It has been a fascinating 2014 Monaco Grand Prix,

:27:33. > :27:39.the highlight? Jules Bianchi's pass on Kamui Kobayashi, very impressive,

:27:40. > :27:42.at La Rascasse. Driver of the day? I want to talk about the friction

:27:43. > :27:47.inside Mercedes and you can cut the tension with the knife. What happens

:27:48. > :27:53.going forward? That is the key part of the weekend? Thank you, and thank

:27:54. > :28:28.you for watching, we will see you in a fortnight.

:28:29. > :28:44.Nico Rosberg is coming through to win the Monaco Grand Prix!

:28:45. > :28:51.Next time on Formula 1. Race seven, Montreal. Canada.
